    The dishwasher was giving us a little bit of trouble and then it finally went over the edge where it was not doing any good anymore. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was simple. I went online to my account, clicked a few boxes, put in my credit card information and it was done. The contractor responded quickly. They appear to know what they were doing. When the repair was done, however, they had to come back out and do something else, and again they answered quickly and explained the whole situation. They did a great job. I also called back in and the representative was quick in not getting the claim re-opened. Since the repair, the dishwasher has been working great, and dishes have not been piling up. AHS working great for us. It is an efficient and quick process to make necessary repairs on home appliances.

    American Home Shield is a lifesaver. We had a bad water leak and we needed the toilet fixed as it was also leaking. And I was able to get through to somebody quickly when I filed a claim for it over the phone. The plumber that was here was great, very prompt, and very professional.     AHS said I could submit a claim online, so I just clicked on it to file my AC claim. And then they called me and said that there was a company on the way soon. The contractors came out an hour early and they were very knowledgeable and gave detail-by-detail explanations on what was happening. The AC is in perfect condition now and I was surprisingly happy with everything.

    American Home Shield did a wonderful job, especially the last time that I used them. I usually file my claim over the phone because sometimes I have problems with my immune system, the Parkinson’s. And the AHS reps were always very polite, kind, considerate and concerned and the technicians that they have sent out were also very good. I’ve always tried to pay AHS before the technician came out because it made things easier. But now AHS has an efficient process where they take the co-pay up front and then I don’t have to worry about it when the technician goes there. It’s awesome. AHS has had this process since the last time I’d used them and I was very pleased with that. Also, the technician that they happened to send from that contracting company was conscientious.

    I was pleasantly surprised with the experience I had with American Home Shield. I wish I had got this thing a long time ago. I filed a claim with them for a plumbing leak on a spigot outside and it was very easy. Their reps were very nice and accommodating. We set an appointment and then the contractor came out. He was great as well and he explained to me that he could not do the other spigot because it was hooked up to my water softener. He thought we should call somebody who is more experienced with the water softener because we thought that's what's leaking not just the actual. But he fixed what he needed to and that was it. The spigots have been doing great since and had not leaked all over the place like it was doing. I definitely have recommended everybody in my age bracket to get American Home Shield's service because of these things that we cannot do ourselves anymore.

    I recently had a claim with American Home Shield for a plumbing issue. When the Advance Home technician showed up, it seemed like he didn't wanna be there. When he came in, it wasn't like a, "Hey, how's it going? How's everything doing?" It was just like a, "Show me what you got going on." And so I showed what I had going on and he said he didn't smell anything so he wasn't gonna do anything. Also, there was a filler valve in my upstairs bathroom which was creating a whistle and he said that that was what was whistling but that they don't replace that. Then when we went back downstairs, I asked if he was going to check around for anything that could be causing the sewer smell in my bathroom and my laundry room. He said he would put in there that they may need to scope the line but that they don't do that, so it would be a different company.

    I was like, "So basically, there's absolutely nothing you're gonna do?" And he said, "Pretty much." He was at my house for maybe 10 minutes and then, he filled out his little paperwork, threw it on the table, and walked out. There was no "Hey, man. Have a good day." Also, I was under the impression that he was putting in his work order or his response back to American Home Shield that the line may need to be scoped to see if there was something blocking it and that they don't do that. He told me that if they were gonna send out another company, they would contact me.

    I bought a house and it was leaking on the inside from the upstairs bathroom down to the lower floor ceiling. I went online to American Home Shield website and submitted a claim. They said a certain company will call and contact me within 24 hours and they did. And they made it here out a couple of days later. The contractor who came out here was very polite and gave me some information. He diagnosed the issue. He looked and saw that there are holes in the grout and it had brittled away. It wasn't sealed properly so the water was getting down and leaking into the floor. But the contractor was a plumber so he doesn't do tile work so I had to call a tile person up and we fixed it ourselves. I had a couple of good experiences with AHS and I recommend to use it if you needed to.

    It’s worth buying AHS for a year just for that extra protection and in case anything goes wrong. I was having a couple of problems with the air conditioner, so I put in a claim. I did it online and it was easy and it took me about five minutes. Two days later, I had the service tech out and they fixed the issue in about an hour. The tech was great and the air conditioner has been working fine when I use it. It's been cool.

We made the call, they sent us the link and the service provider called us and made an appointment probably within an hour or two. We're very, very pleased with the service and the professionalism.     I had a power outage in one section of the house. I submitting the claim online and it was very simple. And I prefer the online way since through the phone, it takes a while sometimes for a representative to answer. The contractor sent out was very nice.     My water heater is 14 years old and the pilot kept on shutting down so I called American Home Shield. It was my first claim and when I submitted it, everything worked out fine. But the lady from AHS told me that they wouldn’t be out here for three days and I told her I needed it taken care of right away. She said she would see what she could do but it was not an emergency. My kids, my wife, I and everybody taking cold showers is not good. So, she ended up calling the Lake Elsinore plumbing place and they came the next day. My wife said that the contractor was a nice and polite guy. He came in, took care of it, knocked on our door and said it is fixed and he went off. He was there for about 40 minutes and since then, it’s been working fine. The company called me back and did a follow-up call with me. Everything went good and I’m glad I got AHS. I recommended them to my boss and he got them too.

    I had an easy experience with American Home Shield’s website. I filed an electric claim online and had someone out within a couple of days. The contractor from Sunbelt Electric was very professional. He explained what he was doing and did a good job. He also cleaned up after himself before he left and got everything working. But I did not like the garage person. It was something about the garage door work. I came home at night, and there was no light. The contractors told me that they didn’t do anything electrical and that my family member could have gone up the ladder and put in a light bulb for me, but they wouldn't do that. When he came out awhile ago, he didn’t explain what was going on or what they did and what they didn’t do. So, I sent him a letter saying that the work wasn’t done, then I got a long letter that was unprofessional and really nasty. That aside, I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield.

    There was a leak in one of the toilet bathroom so I filed a claim to American Home Shield online and their claim process was easy. The contractor came out and fixed the problem, and it’s holding up so far. However, it’s very difficult to get a hold of their contractors at times. You have to try several times to get through. A lot of them are contractors who don’t regularly answer phones. But when you do, things work out. Overall, AHS is useful for a homeowner to have. I would recommend others to have a home warranty. The experience has been good for me. AHS has been very helpful and I didn’t have to go around trying to find contractors and look for things.

It took two weeks to have a contractor come out and do the repair. But after that, I called AHS back and had the contractor come for a second visit.     I filed a claim online with American Home Shield when one of our toilets backed up completely and our other toilet was running. The contractor came to the house, and fixed the running toilet. However, he said he couldn't fix the backed-up toilet that day as there was a foreign object in there that wasn't covered by our warranty, and that I would have to pay a lot more money to have him come back to fix it. So the plumbing problem's partly resolved.

    My husband noticed that there was a leak under the sink in one of the bathrooms. So we called American Home Shield and they were very pleasant and easy to work with. They set everything up. And then I received an email reminder that the contractor was coming and when the appointment would be. Then the company called and said that somebody would be there during the appointed time. And the guy showed up right away. He could not have been nicer and took care of everything. He also had the parts that he needed in the truck. I’ve been telling everyone that they need to get a home warranty. We’re new to this area so we do not have the pulse on who to call yet. So AHS has been wonderful because they’re sending reputable people and they’re finding them for us, so we don’t have to do that search.     We were having some drippy faucets in a couple of the rooms at the house, so we called a service for that. I filed the claim with American Home Shield initially online and that was easy. And then they sent me a correspondence back to let me know that a provider would be in touch with me within 24 hours to set up an appointment, which they did. Then the service provider came out and found out that there were some parts that needed to be ordered. They talked to Delta, the maker of our faucets and they were able to get them to send out the parts that were needed to do the fixes on the different faucets. We just had to wait for that. It took five days for the company to mail out the hardware and then the service provider came back out and installed everything. And everything went really well.

    The contractor was really nice, very professional, and very knowledgeable. They got everything done in a timely manner and the only thing they had to wait on was the manufacturer to send out the stuff and that was beyond their control. But the service provider themselves were very friendly so we were happy with the service. There are no more drips and we were able to get all the leaks fixed without service cost fees. American Home Shield is really good to have if you use it on quite a few occasions. In the long run, it ends up saving you money so that you don't have a huge service cost. It's definitely worth having as it takes some of the pressure off when as far as some things happening with the house. It makes it a lot easier when you know you can just call somebody and they come out for the service call. I'm glad that we have American Home Shield.

    I've had three recent claims with AHS. One for the refrigerator, one for the garage openers, and one for the heater. The heater was just a loose wire and the claim went really well. The guy from Dulce came here the first thing in the morning and it took him five minutes to find the wire that was loose and fix it. Then, for the garage openers, AHS chose not to cover that at all because they told me it was a luxury. It was ridiculous. I paid $303 for that out of pocket and they also charged me the $108, which I called the customer service for. They were supposed to remove the charge, but they still haven’t.

    Then the fridge that had a leaky water dispenser took two weeks to get fixed, but it was Sears' problem since their logistics and getting parts out is terrible. Plus, you have to deal with scheduling with their offshore, which is in Malaysia and their English was terrible. It was just a fiasco. We've been with AHS for 12 years and every year there's something that they don't cover. The service is starting to get to a point where it’s not worth it anymore. It’s starting to get ridiculous. I’m actually starting to shop around for others.

    I called in a claim for my washing machine as it was easier for me to pick up the phone and call. The contractor has been good, though it has taken a little while for them to order some parts because I started the claim March 29th and it's not fixed yet. They said they'll be out here Tuesday. They ordered one part and when you put that in, they said they'd need something else. I had to spend a lot of money to go through the Laundromat and I still have a pile of clothes. Otherwise, I'm always satisfied with American Home Shield and I recommend them. It's most needed and it could save people a lot of money.

At first, I was a little nervous because I couldn't find the company of the guy and the address I was given was his home address, which to me was a little unusual because I wanted to make sure.     I had a problem with my ice maker and my refrigerator. The door of the refrigerator was not closing shut securely the way it used to and you have to push it. Most refrigerators, once it gets closed it pulls all the rest of the way in and it wouldn’t do that. So I filed a claim online and it was a very quick experience. I got the confirmation instantly and shortly after that they told me who had been assigned to my claim and that I would hear from that person to set up the appointment. Everything happened the same day.

    Then, the contractor came out and he explained exactly what he needed to do. He repaired the door first then he told me that with the ice maker it would be better to just completely replace it than try to repair it. I appreciated that. So the ice maker needed to be ordered and as soon as that was in, which was after a week, he called me and scheduled to come back. The unit has been fine ever since the service. I'm happy with the experience and I've recommended them to other people.

    All home warranty companies looked the same to me. American Home Shield was the first one that showed up and I’ve been with them for a month. We just moved in so we needed to get new keys and it was pretty easy to submit a claim to American Home Shield. I did it on their website which was pretty. Then, AHS told me who to contact. I called the service company and they scheduled the appointment. The contractors came and fixed it. And now, the new locks are great.

    I scheduled the repair on a Thursday and the contractor came on a Monday. The people who came out gave us a wide window. It was a five-hour window and then, the people eventually told me that it was gonna be at the very latest stage of that window. So, that was helpful. But I called them, otherwise, I would have been sitting around the home for five hours waiting for them.

    I filed my claim online and American Home Shield passed it to two different companies. One was Mason’s Plumbing who was great and I was fine with. The other one was Long & Burton, whose guy I can’t stand and I don’t want back in my house. I put in a work order and American Home Shield dispatched it to him. He called but I had a doctor’s appointment and I wasn’t home. I asked if we could do it the next day and I was going to schedule a time in the afternoon. He said he would call me back the next morning and we would schedule the time. He called and I wasn’t home doing another job.

    I said I needed it scheduled for that afternoon and he said he was 10 minutes from our house and that we had discussed it the day before. I said that we discussed that he wouldn’t let me make an appointment and that he was going to call me back to reschedule it which he did and I told him that I needed it that afternoon. He said that somebody will get back with me, but I didn’t hear anything for three days. So, I called and he said that he didn’t know why somebody didn’t get back with me. He said that he shuffled it to somebody else to do it but they didn’t do it. So, I ended up waiting for five days before he could come and get to me. He came but there was nothing he could do and he said that they would have to send somebody else. I waited five days for absolutely nothing for Mason’s Plumbing to come and fix the issue.

    I’ve worked with AHS several times and they were great. I called them and they said that the next time I put in a work order, I could call and let them know if Long & Burton pops up on my deal. The first lady I talked to at AHS thought she had me on hold and was saying some nice things about me. She was going to transfer me to somebody else and when she realized she didn’t, she hung-up on me. I was furious because my house was full of sewer gas, which was not healthy for my family and I was needing it to be a more important issue. But none of their staff seemed to care. I apologized to the second lady because I was already irritated after being talked crap on. I already paid for their services and paid my $75. She clearly had an attitude and she said I had to call somebody else.

    I made the third call and specifically asked, “Is there anybody that can help me that their system actually works?” The rep said that I would have to call somebody else. I had to call back and see. I said I wanted to talk to a manager, but they didn’t do that. Their system was down which I understand but I was wondering how they can be a company that is in charge of helping people when nobody can help anybody. All I needed them to do was to put in there that I didn’t want Long & Burton services and that I needed it done. It was Friday, so I can’t wait until Monday and I needed somebody to call me. I’m really unhappy at the moment.

    I've called American Home Shield twice and they were great each time. They were very quick to the point and got my claims serviced and done. I've had other home protections and they are better than some that I have had to deal with. They’re very friendly and knowledgeable. When the washer was smoking, I called their number and filed a claim. I set up a time and somebody called me back that afternoon. The contractor came in and they looked at the washer. They found the problem with it and they said they would go back and try to get the parts. The washer was one of the newer models and if they were not able to get the parts, they'd have to replace it. I've been happy with the washer's performance since the repair.

When we would call to find out what was going on she was just like it was an inconvenience for them. That was not a pleasant experience.     I love American Home Shield. We had a bunch of issues at the same time with the plumbing and the oven, and they helped us. My bathroom upstairs was leaking down under my kitchen and my oven died, all on the same day, so we opened up a service request for both of them. It was really snowy and rough weather but somebody was sent out to our house within two days to fix the pipe in my bathroom. And then we had a new oven within two weeks. So all of my issues were taken care of within a two-week time period and everybody was really nice about it. The experience was awesome.

    At first, I called because the same day that those things happened, my roof also started leaking into my house. So we called to see if there was anything with the warranty that would work with our roof and there wasn’t. I feel like I'm able to find out more of the things that are covered under my warranty through the phone than online. Other than that, the website was really easy to navigate and it walked me through the process step-by-step and it was done.

    We got a text message immediately telling us what our time was. The guy from Moos Plumbing in Sioux City was awesome and they stayed in contact with us despite the really bad weather and roads to update us. The contractor also called me, apologized and asked if there was something that we needed because he was gonna come out himself with the oven. They came to check the stove but the guy didn’t really know what he was doing. He didn’t know anything about the oven, so they just winged it as my oven is also really old.

    My pressure valve started leaking and my experience with American Home Shield in submitting a claim for that issue was very good. I always call them to set up a service on their automated system. The contractor was very good. The tech came over and tried to fix the valve but he couldn't fix it the first time because he couldn't break the seal on it. So, he had to come back later, but there was a need for further modification and he didn’t have to do that. But he took care of the valve and its performance after the repair has been very good. I would tell a friend about the service that American Home Shield offers and how inexpensive it is.

    Our dryer was making a lot of noise and taking an extremely long time to work so we had AHS replace a motor on it. I submitted my claim online because it's more convenient and we got a very quick response and a technician came out the very next day. He was great and the repair went absolutely perfect. Things are back to normal again and it helped to really speed up how we get things done.     AHS cancelled my home warranty without my permission and consent. I had a service call for my dishwasher back in Dec 2017 and even it did not get fixed. I called them again and they said it will be $75 again. I was really mad with response and asked, "What is your cancellation policy if I need to cancel." No satisfactory response and few days later they cancel it without refunding full amount. I made several calls, transfer from departments to departments and in end said we will get back to you in few days, NO response at all, very unprofessional and rude customer service reps.

    I keep asking to produce the call record which they record for quality assurance but no record. I don't want to do business with them anymore and just asking for my full refund but they are denying. All I hear is, "Sorry" and "We can't refund." Even if I have to hire a lawyer and pay Lawyer few thousand Dollars I am going to do so to get $600 back plus the disturbance they caused me. I know I sound stupid but will go to any extent to teach these rip off a lesson.

The experience was okay and John, the technician, was great. The only downside was the price of the Freon. At $55 a pound, it seemed like it was five times the market value, but we had to buy it through them. Nonetheless, I find having a warranty on our properties very valuable. We have two properties. We have an American Home Shield warranty on one and we have a warranty with a different company on the other one because it came with the house.     The microwave oven was showing an error message so I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for that. Somebody called me once I put the request in and the rep I spoke with was very nice. Then I received a call to get a schedule with the company. The contractor did an excellent job and I liked that he came when I put the ticket in. The guys came on time as scheduled and the technician did something. He was outstanding.

    But the microwave wasn’t working again, so I called back again. I reopened the ticket and the tech came back and found what the issue was. He ordered the part, came and fixed it.     I've had a very poor experience with AHS. I paid $75 out of pocket to have our washing machine diagnosed and they ordered the appliance like they were supposed to. However, they gave the appliance company the wrong contact phone number and they never contacted me. The appliance company sent the unit back and I have no appliance. I emailed AHS and asked them if I could take a check in lieu but they didn't respond. I also called them 10 times and I’ve been on hold for over an hour twice. Then they answered and they said, “Sorry, we’re too busy to take your call. We’ll call you back within 24 to 48 hours.” I'm at my 45th hour right now and I still haven’t gotten a call.

    Heat wasn’t blowing out the vents and it sounded like there was some type of a motor running in the unit upstairs. It was like a low windy noise, almost like a fan was running but nothing was happening. There was nothing coming out the duct work and it wasn’t the thermostat. It wasn’t getting warm in here but was actually getting cold. It was down to 63 when I finally got somebody to explain the problem.

    I submitted the claim with American Home Shield online, and they instantly sent me a text message saying that Guaranteed Services was the vendor. It also said that they were gonna call me within 24 hours. However, it was a little cold and I really couldn’t take the cold, so I called the vendor and they were so kind to get me in as soon as possible. They came out the same day to see what the matter was and the man went up there. He was up there for a while, and he determined the problem, but if it would shut off, I would’ve had to go into the attic to turn it back on. But that was the best they could do until the part came. They ordered one of the two parts wrong and when they came out, they put the good part in but had to reorder, and then it took another couple of days. But it’s okay for now.

    We also had a plumbing problem during the second year, and it turned out that the vendor came out about four times until they got it right. Meanwhile, our downstairs bathroom ceiling got messed up. I let it go for a while so that everything would dry out, but when I called American Home Shield to tell them, nobody ever came out to fix the ceiling because I didn’t have a hole in the ceiling. When our hot water tank from 1972 died, American Home Shield replaced it. They just paid the portion for the new unit and the installation, and then I had to pay the difference between what would bring it up to modern building code because it was a new installation. But overall, I’m very happy with American Home Shield.

    Earlier in the year, I had a drippy spigot. I called AHS and the service guy came out and said he had to order the parts. A month went by and I hadn’t gotten the call that the parts were received. So I called American Home Shield and asked them how much the buy-out would be to have the whole faucet replaced. And it was around $100, so I told them that I would just have the spigot replaced. The contractor came, put the cartridges in them and my spigot no longer drip. I'm a realtor and I will recommend AHS to a friend. It is the smartest thing to have when buying a used house.

    I have what's called a portable spa hot tub and I had a problem with the circulating pump which threw up. I submitted the claim online to American Home Shield and I got an immediate response in terms of identifying the contracting company. The following day I got a call from the contracting company to set up the schedule and the technician that was sent out to work on the tub was very good. He diagnosed the problem immediately and worked through getting a new pump and getting it installed.     There were some cracks in our shower pan and I called a different plumber to come out and paid for his consultation. He told me that the shower pan needed to be replaced because it was also leaking. We don’t use that shower but we really need to have our shower back so I called American Home Shield. The rep, Alice, was very helpful. She heard me out and although we weren’t sure whether it would be covered or not, she sent someone out here right away. I was really amazed because within three hours I had someone very professional, helpful, nice, and informative at my house. However, because the shower pan was all in one piece and there was gonna be construction, AHS doesn't cover it.

    I also had a bad experience in the past with AHS over a refrigerator but they have my business and I’m gonna stick with them. My experience was absolutely wonderful even though the outcome didn’t come out the way I hoped it would. We’ve been with them for two years and I can’t imagine moving. They’re the better business. I'm not gonna get everything covered, but I have good insurance with State Farm. We will go with people that were sent out that we liked and we’ll just pay the deductible through our homeowner’s insurance. I would highly recommend American Home Shield and I’d tell friends that they wouldn’t be able to do any better with anybody else.

    I thought that there was a burning smell in my air conditioner. I called the fire department to see if there was a problem and I didn’t want to sleep at night then all of a sudden, I have my house caught on fire. It was colder here and so, I called AHS to file a claim for the air conditioner. The contractors came out and told me that everything looked fine. And that it might be the dust burning, but he suggested that I call my heating people because there might be a problem with the motor because they were not electricians. They knew a lot of stuff and the contractor also told me that he could smell the smell and it could be that the motor is burning out.

    I said okay. So when I called the electricians, there was a problem with the motor. I had to call them to come back out because the heating worked for a while, and then it stopped working. The air conditioner wouldn't come on either. It turned out that when you take the top off to check the box where you turn on and off the air and turn the temperature, there were metal pieces in there that have to touch so that it works when you change the temperature or when you change it from air to heating and they weren't connecting. It had been there for a while and people fooling with it. After a while, it wore out. The electrician knew right away and showed me what was happening. He put a new unit on, and it has been perfect ever since. The new unit was easy to use. I was really pleased and I did not feel that they were trying to cheat me or tell me something that wasn't right.

    So far, the people who came out from AHS to took care of the service that AHS needed were very, very good and got it taken care of. They were pleasant, professional, and timely. So, I was really happy with that. I had a good experience this last time with American Home Shield. The people who came out were very polite and courteous. Also, I was happy with the person that I talked to on the phone. However, I had a previous experience some time ago with the person at American Home Shield when I called to get help, and I had to contact the corporate office to get it taken care of, and it was taken care of immediately. But since then, I have not had any problems at all and I'm very happy with them.

    I like the service of AHS and it's something that others should get. It's like an insurance for your car, something I feel that you really need because if you need it taken care of right away, they're there. I know that I could go for years paying my monthly premium and nothing goes wrong, but when I need something, it's gonna be there for me.

    We had a leaky hot water tank. I got it early. I filed a claim with AHS online and this experience was better than the last one. The actual online filing of the claim was super easy. The contractor this time was Sigmond Plumbing and I put the claim in at like 6:15 on Monday morning. They called me at 8:00 and were at the house before 11:00. But the one before was for my stove. The temperature gauge was acting funny and it was the mother board in the stove. That one took over a month and a half to get resolved.

    It took them two days to call me back and I called them to set up the appointment. Then they had to come out and diagnosed it. My husband was there for that one and they couldn’t locate the issue. I don’t know whether it was him not telling me that they were gonna get a part or they didn’t know if they were gonna get a part. But they went back, called American Home Shield and like three weeks later, the lady called and she’s, “Yeah. Can we come to install your parts?” I was like, “Well, I’m getting up new parts? That’s awesome!” And then it took another few days to get that installed. But then once it was done it was just great. I'm glad that this one wasn't like that and it was done within hours.

    I submitted a claim for a microwave over the phone. I tried to do it online but kept running into an issue. Whenever I went on to search my place of residence, it’d show an owner, but it wouldn’t show that I have an account on it for some reason. I have been having issues trying to create it online, but American Home Shield's representative did great. She assisted me in getting a new policy number since I was using the old number from my policy, and did a good job.

    Moreover, the contractor they sent out from Shoreline Appliance Repair was very friendly and professional. My microwave went black and had no power to it. When he came, he replaced a fuse and a resistor, and did great. The microwave worked for a couple of weeks before it had another issue. Other than that, the time in which my claim was expedited to get it fixed was unbelievable. Normally it would be two or three weeks, but to do it first thing on a Monday is great. In the military, we call it "high speed".

    I did a computerized claim with American Home Shield for my washing machine. The tech that came over was great. However, I would like to have somebody we can talk to when submitting a claim, not a machine and for AHS to respond more quickly. The last claim I had with one particular item took about two weeks. And the person that came over to look at the problem left. He then had a report that he had done and completed the job. He told my wife to sign on it or agree on it and then said they would reschedule to go back.

    They couldn't come in another week and I couldn't wait any longer, so I went and got the repair done myself. Then AHS said they would not cover anything because it wasn't done by their people. It's frustrating when they didn't do the job and I pay every month for their protection. And if that's not gonna be done, then I need to know. If they tell me right in the beginning, I'm fine with that. But if they come over and then say it's done, and if they don't have honest people working for them, AHS should change them.

    I just bought this condo and was offered the American Home Shield warranty on appliances. That seemed like a good thing rather than try to go after the owners to replace things that seemed iffy. AHS should inspect some of the things before they offer the warranty. This condo was originally an old rental and the appliances were really beaten up.

    My stove was the original stove that had been put in here in the ’70s. I was assured that it worked but when I moved in, I checked the temperature and it wasn’t holding the temperature to bake things correctly. So I called for service the first time and the original contractor that AHS used gave me the creeps. He said one thing to me in person then told American Home Shield something totally different. He said he fixed the stove on the spot and that he adjusted the thermostat and it would be fine.

    At that point, I was in the process of remodeling and hadn't fully moved in and when I moved in, I tried to bake a pizza for my kids but the oven wouldn’t even turn on. I called AHS and they said that I had to use the same contractor. I texted the tech because he didn’t have an office person for me to call to and he said it was the best way to reach him. And then, my dishwasher was being iffy and I texted him to reschedule the Monday appointment because I would like to add that to the service, but I didn’t get a reply. I checked the email from Home Shield and there was nothing in there other than this guy’s cellphone number.

    I thought I had canceled the appointment and then without warning, he sent somebody else who ended up calling me from work and I apologized profusely. And I told him that I tried to cancel the appointment and the guy that he used as his replacement laughed and told me that it was not my fault at all. He totally expected that this was what this guy does.

    At that point, the original contractor started texting and calling me every day to reschedule, so that made me even more uncomfortable. I didn’t answer him at all but he wouldn’t let it go. So I called AHS several times telling them how uncomfortable this guy was making me. I told them that I didn’t want this guy coming back to my house but each of the operator people that I talked to said that there was no way for them to give me a different contractor. Also, I ended up going to my realtor and asked her how to stop the stove technician.

    The stove technician was a huge contrast with the company they sent out and got my refrigerator fixed. They were very professional and were able to order the parts. I had a text with a picture of the tech coming from their company and the time window. And, there was a phone number for me to call an office and to reschedule if I had problems. Also, AHS sent somebody out to look at the microwave and I chose to upgrade it. Though I had to pay a lot, it was a really nice microwave so I was really happy with that.

    So I didn’t understand why I’m stuck with that fly-by-night stove technician and I basically just gave up. At some point, my realtor called AHS and they got it switched to a company that was good. I was immediately contacted by that company and then their technician came out. He saw the stove, took it apart and told me that there were so many things that needed to be soldered in the oven and that he was not even sure if those are sold anymore, so it was clearly an item that needed to be replaced. He said that it would take a couple of weeks, but I haven’t heard back about the replacement.

He was not able to connect with the contractor to verify their status and he kept telling me that they could not drop that contractor and hire a new one through their system until he confirmed the status with that contractor. I told them to figure that one out while I wait on the line. He did that but he was not able to contact them. I called and just got frustrated. I called back, talked to the same guy, and he tried to tell me again that we couldn’t get a new contractor until there was a status update from the existing one.

    Finally, the guy got a status update. The contractor had originally ordered the wrong part which was the original problem that was why it had taken so long. They had some sort of miscommunication in their system with their supplier part, and they would have to physically connect with the supplier to get the part. I told them that it was not my problem and they needed to find a new contractor to get my heater fixed. So, it took the better part of an entire evening to get this worked out. He got me a new contractor on board and the new contractors were able to get the part in. They ordered the correct part the first time, got it installed and got it fixed within a week. So, there was quite a bit of back and forth and I was very frustrated, and so were my tenants, with the situation. And to be perfectly honest, the gentleman I spoke with at Home Shield didn’t know how to solve the problem.

    And my tenants should have been contacted by American Home Shield way earlier than I called because the claim had been opened for four weeks, and it was difficult to be without heat in February. They were relying on the gas log in the house to keep the bottom level of the home warm. As a landlord, it was not acceptable for my tenants to have to deal with that. Also, it shouldn’t even get to me because, by that time, it was way overdue. And my tenants shouldn’t have had to wait that long.

    Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield as a company itself. We've had them for a long time now and we had claims with them on other properties and I've not had this much problem with them. However, if I'm gonna ding American Home Shield on anything, it's gonna be on this particular representative’s ability to communicate and to understand me. That was the breakdown and I would warn other people about it. I would say that if they get on the phone with somebody who doesn’t understand them, they should get the claim escalated or call back and get somebody else.

    Some work was being done on the waterline in our community and when it was turned back on, I had no water pressure in my bathroom and the kitchen sink started leaking.     I'm very glad I switched to American Home Shield from Total Home Protection. I have more coverage at less per month than what I did with the other company. We have exotic birds and six of them are between $300 and $500 a piece. Our house needs to maintain a certain temperature all of the time, but the furnace would not keep heat in the house correctly and the temperature was dropping 10 degrees. Space heaters weren't keeping on the up and up too. The furnace has been doing that for about two weeks before I filed a claim because I have tried different fixes on it. The claims process online was simple. AHS said they'll get a hold of me within 24 hours and the contractor was here doing the work.

    Jim has really great people to work with and they did an excellent job. They found the problem, repaired it, and then saw some issues that might arise in the future. The main board in the computer had gone bad and once he got the furnace to light, he saw that the burners were being funky and had leaks in them. He said that eventually the burners are gonna give out on me soon. It was a safety issue, so he said they're gonna need to fix those, too.

    American Home Shield themselves are excellent people to deal with. This is the second time I had to get a hold of them. The first time, the electrician let the ball drop. The contractor didn't do anything and he never got back to me, so I ended up fixing the problem myself. American Home Shield even tried to get a hold of them that same instance and were unable to.

    When I had a leaking faucet and my tub and sink were clogged, I made a phone call to AHS and the rep set up an appointment with me and the contractor that they sent was great. They came over, unclogged my drains and fixed my faucet. They did what they needed to do, weren't here very long and got everything done in a timely fashion. When you're trying to brush your teeth with the stuffed up sink, it's kinda hard and since the repair, things are a lot better.     I had to submit a claim for my AC twice. The first one, it kept freezing up and losing the Freon, and the compressor on the outside wasn’t running. I had to call American Home Shield and they sent some people out here and one guy wanted to put Freon in it. He told us we didn’t owe anything because someone had come out before. He even showed me in the computer that we didn’t owe anything. Then he left but then he came back and said we owed him 200 and some dollars for the Freon. He and my daughter were going on and on, so I said we'd just give it to him. But my daughter said she'd rather pay American Home Shield if we're paying anyone. Then American Home Shield sent us a letter saying we were supposed to pay for the Freon and it was $200. They said they would take care of it this time but from now on, we have to pay for the Freon. But they still charged us.

    First, American Home Shield told me that I had to pay $1,100 for the new unit that they were gonna put in, and then they called back and said I had to pay eight something to the contractor when they did get here. And then the second time, they said that the compressor on the outside was out so I had to pay $550 for that for the Freon as well. I hear different things because a lot of people tell me they have American Home Shield and then they tell me that they don’t have to pay that kind of money for those equipment.

    The first contractor that came out, A-US Air Conditioning, was horrible and I didn’t like those people at all. The the two guys that put the equipment in were pretty good and they were nice but the three people that came out before this thing was done weren't. And this problem happened in July and they were the hottest days. The contractor didn’t even come out so I had to get someone else outside of American Home Shield before their contractor even got here to fix that one out. Two people, Troy and Marvin, came and put Freon in the AC because I had a leak and one guy came out at 12 am at night. I’m not having any issue right now but I'm dissatisfied with my experience with American Home Shield.

But it means that they're busy so hopefully, they'll get to me as soon as they can and take care of what they need to do. They discovered that the root cause of the problem was the previous plumber that I used. And now I don’t have a toilet and I need to get the floors repaired before I can get back with them. They made it clear that I need to figure out how to find the right handyman to come replace the floors that are rotted out from the water damage from the toilet leak. And then once I figure that out, I’m supposed to call them back and put the toilet back in.     Getting through to talk to somebody from American Home Shield on the phone was next to impossible, though I had no issues dealing with their reps. When we were trying to get a hold of them last year, the wait time on the line was over two hours which was frustrating. Not everybody has two hours. And, I’m old-fashioned and I like to speak to somebody rather than trying to do everything off over the computer. But submitting the dishwasher claim online was fine and they contacted me within 24 hours to set up an appointment.     Submitting a claim with American Home Shield online was fine. I got notifications via email and confirmations for the appointment. They were able to get back to me the next day. It was late in the day but nonetheless it was the next day. We were running the AC when we detected the smoke so I shut the unit down because nothing else was running. I called and the techs came. They repaired the blower and replaced the capacitor and that fixed it.

    The temperature was cool at the time and they couldn't really identify anything more but as we warmed up it turned out that the AC wasn't working properly. Sometimes it seemed to run okay but other times it seemed that it didn't wanna cool. This time, I called American Home Shield because initially when I try to do it online, they wanted the hundred dollars right out of the get go and I wasn't sure if it should be done that way or not.     We have been waiting for about 3 weeks for our refrigerator to be replaced, it was approved and scheduled for delivery today. We had to unload our old refrigerator in order for the new One to be placed. The delivery came, they unboxed it outside before bringing it in; it had a large dent across the side. We unfortunately could not accept the damaged product. It was loaded back on the truck and sent back. So we have NO refrigerator now and groceries from the side freezer and fridge going spoiled. We have been trying for the past few hours trying to get to help on this issue. Each time repeating, then told they are forwarding, then click disconnected.     We have had this coverage for almost a year. Tried calling in a service call but the recording said go online for better/prompt service etc. Hung up and went online. Their online system only lets you choose one problem. In my case I needed to choose leaky pipe and well. The system would only let me choose one, so I chose leaky pipe, since both the well and bathroom had a leaky pipe. The plumber would only fix the bathroom because the well was not listed on the service order. The plumber called the warranty company while at our home to get authorization but they said we had to put in a new service request. He left and said he would come back. We called the home warranty company and they said we had to pay ANOTHER $100 deductible!!! They said we should not of let the plumber leave. What are we supposed to do, hold him, hostage until they get their act together?

    We had to pay another $100, they sent a different plumbing company. We pay extra for the well coverage but of course they said our problem was not covered. Now we have to pay another $1300 for a repair. I was upset by all these issues and called American Home Shield and wanted to speak to someone that would listen to my frustration and offer some assistance or at least attempt to make me hang up a happy but unfulfilled customer. I couldn't even get that! I was told basically, "It is what it is. Keep the warranty, cancel we really don't care." I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to and was told no. I called back thinking I would get someone else willing to be more helpful, but nope! Basically same conversation. No one there cares if you are happy or not. If I cancel, some other sucker is always willing to take my place as a paying customer. It's a big scam people, don't waste your money on this company.

They try to cut down customer service so you go online and make the appointment. That’s company policy and I don’t like that. Some contractors are very efficient and overall, it’s been a good experience with their repair people.     I've had two claims for American Home Shield recently. The one with the A/C went great. I was able to get someone out here and that same day the contractor fixed it. But the second claim was horrific. The only problem I had was the first water heater. The contractor said he couldn’t work on it because he doesn't work that brand. So I question why AHS even sent someone out who can't work on it.

    And when they finally sent another contractor out it was two days after. He was great and helped me a lot. The water heater needed to be replaced so the first guy hadn't even really looked at it and realize it was shot. He could have had it replaced. Since it had to be replaced, if I went through the American Home Shield process to replace it, I would have waited another day or longer without hot water. I would have been on my fourth day so I chose to pay for it myself. I paid $1,100 out of my own pocket and now I'm still waiting to hear back from someone to see how they will pay out.

    The one thing that was very frustrating was when I had an issue a couple of years ago. Most of the time it isn't timely and it's not reasonable to wait for what their timeframe is. I was in Las Vegas two summers ago. I had to have an A/C unit replaced. The people they assigned me said it will be 10 days to get someone out because it was such a busy time of the year. We can't live in 1150 degrees without an A/C unit for 10 days. You wait on hold for a couple of hours at a time with them to try to get someone to help and they tell you they apologize but it's their busy time of year so I just dread the fact if my A/C unit goes out in the summer. But my experience with AHS has been generally good.

I could do it here in my log in details, and then after that I’d book the appointment. I had a text message the following day. And then the technician came as per schedule and he asked me about the system to start with but I didn’t know anything about the system because I just bought the home. So, he was able to get into the attic and see the existing system, and then straight away, he was able to find the fault and then fixed it. So he was good.

    It didn’t take a lot of time too. Perhaps it was one of those common issues he faces every day, so he was quick at fixing it. Everything went well. Then I got a feedback request asking if he has done a good job or not. So, the overall experience has been very good. It's definitely worth it to have somebody like AHS because you never know what could go wrong. You can’t scramble at the last minute. I would rather prepare for it by having warranty like AHS.

    American Home Shield has been absolutely fabulous. I had two washers that both failed at the same time, and they were real good about getting them taken care of. The only way to fix them was to replace them because some of the parts were not available any longer, so they did that. Submitting a claim was very simple and easy. There was an odd delay in this case only because I had an initial person come out that was literally unqualified and was a very bad operator. AHS didn’t know that but he gave me bad advice on another appliance I had that I was working on with American Home Shield. But once they became aware of that, they took corrective action and they didn’t have another person in my area to come out. They did what's called an outside authorization wherein they paid somebody specifically that's not under their contract to come out and take care of it. It wasn’t their fault but they responded to it well.

    Being without a washers was certainly an inconvenience, but we got two new washers. I purchased online from American Home Shield's selection and it was all very smooth. I've had a few claims with them recently and they've done really well with the claims when everything goes well. However, their delay time to answer the phone is oftentimes really bad. But, one of those might have been because of the hurricane down in Florida. Not only were they getting a lot of claims, but they had staffing issues because people were dealing with the hurricane, and I get that.

    Another thing that was weird was they wanted me to fax some information into the internal office and I did that. They said they got the fax but they couldn't read it. They could only see that I sent the fax, but they couldn't actually pull up what it says. I'm like, "Then why did you tell me to send it via fax?" Somebody finally gave me an email address that I could scan and email the documents and that worked fine. But I had to go through an Act of Congress to get to that place.

    The shower handle wasn’t working and the water came out scalding hot and I couldn’t adjust the water. I filed a claim through American Home Shield’s recorded message and they sent me back an email telling me to call Budget Heating and Cooling. I then called Budget and scheduled the appointment. Their tech replaced the cartridge inside and he fixed it fine.

    Last summer, the summer before that, and the summer before that, I’ve been having to have my freon replaced because American Home Shield doesn’t think that the coil should be replaced. So, they just send out a technician and fills up the Freon every summer but it doesn’t really fix the problem because the freon leaks back out. Now, it’s getting ready to get hot here in St. Louis and I’m gonna call American Home Shield and schedule an appointment to get more freon put in there. So, I don’t have to keep paying the $75 fee every summer plus the fee for the freon. But the air-conditioner needs to be fixed and the technician said that it was an $800 job but he can’t do it as all he’s been sent here to do is replace the freon.

    There was a small leak in my main water line. I caught it early in the morning, got it all cleared out and filed a claim online with American Home Shield which was pretty simple and straightforward. They assigned one plumber group that doesn’t service my area more than twice a week. So, I called in and talked to the AHS customer service representative and they found a different plumber that could get out here pretty quickly. The contractor was very personable and professional. He came out, found the issue, ran back to the shop because he was swinging by from another call, got a couple of parts that he needed and came back and fixed the leak quickly.

    I’ve dealt with AHS a number of times since I purchased my home a year ago and the first couple of go-arounds with them were not so great with really long hold times on the phone trying to find contractors. I live in a big small town in the middle of Northwest Oklahoma and there are just not as many contractors out here for repair that AHS works with right now. But they have drastically improved their customer service and response times with this last iteration, so I was very pleased.

    My air conditioner wasn’t putting cold air into the house so I filed a claim with American Home Shield for that. The submission process was good and we had somebody come out the next day. The contractor was amazing and everything is running as it should. I also filed a claim with AHS for my washing machine but that has not been very well. They sent somebody out who never showed up. And then they sent somebody out here the next day without informing me that they were gonna be here. When I told them that I don’t want those people at my house because I didn’t feel comfortable with unreliable people servicing my house, that was an issue. I told AHS I was gonna cancel my contract with them and then they said that they would figure something else out for me. They didn’t have any other plumbers in the area. I should be hearing back today at another company, but I haven’t heard any feedback yet.

    Although it has only been a problem once or twice, AHS sends technicians that I wouldn’t choose based on the ratings. Plus, they don’t ask much ahead of time so sometimes they'd send a technician that doesn’t even know how to work on the particular brands of appliances that we have, which are more high-end. Once, we had a dishwasher issue that wasn’t resolved and took forever. Then we had one company that tried to fix a built-in refrigerator without the knowledge of how to fix it, and we ended up having to replace the entire unit.

    Recently our oven's electronic panel, where all the electronic dials are, was not working so we called AHS. The contractor came out here in two days. He was professional enough, although he wasn’t dressed as professionally as we expected him to be, and he was quick to diagnose the issue. Then he left and ordered the part, which came in about a week. The oven is working perfectly well now. When things break, having somebody come and fix it for the price that we pay, is very valuable. Without AHS, it would be a huge out-of-pocket expense if one of our things break. Moreover, they have gotten better and we've been happier with them now than we had been in the past.

    I had a leak in my foundation and when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, I didn't have to keep calling or anything like that. They sent out people and they checked it out. They gave me how much they would pay based on that amount and I also had to work with my home insurance with them for that because it was a costly item but they took care of the problem. When I called them, they were helpful. They got me in touch with the company that they were contracting out to do the service and they emailed me that information. I worked with the contractor who let me know their availability was and the contractor was out here after a couple of days. So, it was in a timely manner.

    The contractor was very helpful, knowledgeable and let me know that it was a big problem and beyond what they cover. It was entirely because of the enormous amount of work that needed to be done but I appreciated their help because they covered a portion of that, which I understood. The job was completed. I've talked to people who haven't had great experiences with American Home Shield, but I can't complain. I had a stove that went out and they replaced it. Toilets were leaking out and they fixed it, so I'm quite pleased and it's definitely worth the amount of money that I spent or that I pay for that. Being a single person, I can’t just go out or if items like this come about, it would be a difficult thing for me to pay for them. But having their service has really helped me a lot as a single person. I’ve been with them for three years and I would recommend them.

    I was having problems with the air conditioning. The conditioning unit turned out to be an air conditioning heat pump. We didn’t know that when we bought the house and it was making some noise. American Home Shield sent out a technician that was an air conditioning specialist only. He described the problem and then he went back to his company and they sent out another technician who had more experience than he did. It turned out to be set aside with the heat pump but they haven't addressed the problem until it's hotter and the air conditioner heat pump goes on automatically. As long as the weather stays cool, they can't fully diagnose the problem due to the cold weather. My experience with American Home Shield has been really good. I'm satisfied. AHS has been very helpful and sent technicians out who are specializing in different fields out to the house, which was great. I would recommend them.

    Our heater quit blowing out hot air so we needed somebody to fix it. I was looking up to see what the home warranty covered and since I was already on the computer, I filed a claim with AHS online. I got a phone call the next day or later that day and the contractor AHS sent was nice. He came out and looked at the unit. It was rather old, so he had to order the part, which came in four or five days later. It was only five degrees outside, so we froze for a few days and bought a space heater.     We had what we thought was a HVAC leak in an HVAC closet. The HVAC guy came out there and he determined there was a plumbing leak. We had paid for the HVAC visit and the vendor said that he would transfer the service call to a plumber who came out, diagnosed the problem, found the leak in the wall, cut holes in the wall and patched it, and patched the plumbing. And then he contacted a drywall company that came out and did the drywall repair. I was impressed with the plumber. The HVAC guy and the drywall repair folks were good as well. There is a $75 fee that’s paid when the vendor comes out or when he completes his work. That was paid to the HVAC contractor and he allegedly transferred the charge or the claim to the plumber and said that there would not be an additional $75 charge for a second vendor. But I may have received a bill from American Home Shield for that second vendor.

    The last time we had the contractor sent by American Home Shield here was for our oven which wasn't working. He came in, repaired that and did a good job. We was knowledgeable and friendly too. During the first time, they had the wrong part and so then he had to order a different one and then got it fixed. I submitted the claim online through their website and it was very easy to do. The rep emailed back that the contractor will be contacting us to set up a time. Since the repair, the oven has been working perfectly fine and everything has been good with it. Whenever we had a problem, they send quality people to come out and fix it. However, AHS does not cover freon of air conditioners while some different companies say they do. Still, they provide great service.

    I was receiving lukewarm water and not hot water. The plumbing people who came out adjusted some things and now it’s fine. I’m happy. A couple of months before that, I had a problem with the toilet and they were the same people who came out. They were very good. Submitting a claim was very easy and quick to do as well.

    The AHS representatives were good too except that I stay on the line for anywhere between an hour to almost two hours to wait for someone to pick up the phone. I was on for hours and hours and it was awful. And it wasn't even good in the middle of the night. It's kind of disheartening to even try to talk to them and especially at the beginning because I just moved and I just got my contract that came with the house I bought. So, I couldn’t do anything online or anything because I didn’t have the number. They didn’t have it in the system. That was my issue when I was having problems with heating. I had to wait for two hours. Let’s say these people don’t know what they’re doing and I need another person, and then I had to go back on and wait and wait. So, that was a big issue. Other than that, everything else was okay.

    Failure to comply with specifics of home warranty by misrepresenting and omitting the definition of "multi media center" Section H-1. There is no multi media center in my system. It is wired and not digital and not controlled by WiFi. Pool electrical system is controlled by an analog wired CONTROL CENTER and covered by AHS warranty as electrical. AHS exempted from coverage one part of the control center alleging that it is simply NOT COVERED. This part governs the control of the differing pump speeds between spa (fast) and pool (slower).

    Updated on 05/02/2018: 26-27 April 2018 home warranty company sent Golden West Pool Repair, the owner, to fix electrical pool issue. Tech worked on control box in my view and manipulated an Intelliflo card which showed active and working with a green light lit. Tech left to order parts, one of which was the one with the green light. That afternoon I was told that part which he burnt out was NOT COVERED by warranty company. Next day one of his employee techs came out, fiddled for an hour+ left not replacing the tech damaged Intelliflo card. Some functions worked for a day then all died. One of several worst pool service companies here. The new pool service repair tech of 2 May verified that that card or module was working at the time the green light was on.     This company was pretty good in the past, but have lost their way. We've been paying them for 5 years at our most recent address and we called them for service and were told "you don't have an account with us". I assumed we had failed to renew and when we sold our home last month, I noticed a charge from AHS on my credit card bill. Looking back, we've never missed a payment. We had coverage, still have coverage. Okay, now try to cancel the service if you sell your home. You get a person who says they have to send you to "Retention", but "Retention" is backed up with heavy calls. Put on hold. Then transferred and it's not "Retention" but a service request specialist who then takes your information for "Retention" to call you back some time in the future. Another frustration point for me. You can open a new account online but you can't cancel your account online.

    We had a home warranty with American Home Shield. Our furnace needed to be replaced. We got our own quotes and were comfortable with a couple of contractors. They forced us to use their contractor. Their contractor did not vent the furnace correctly, causing the furnace exhaust to accumulate in our attic instead of outside our house. The plywood in our roof rotted due to condensation in our attic. American Home Shield rep told me that they are not responsible for their contractors' work. They force you to use who they want, but take no responsibility for their work. I strongly urge you to find a different company for the home warranty.

    Our refrigerator died and I called AHS to file a claim, and everybody was pleasant and direct. They told me that they were sorry to hear about what happened, told me what it would cost, and if I wanted to pay right then or later. I was satisfied with them. However, I wasn't terribly happy because it took me over a week to get somebody out. And then, it took another week before they could get the part. So I was without a refrigerator for two weeks. I had to throw out food twice and I had to pay for a refrigerator rental. My problem with AHS is that there ought to be some way to facilitate getting their contractors to come out within a certain period of time. I see no reason that it'd take a whole week to get somebody out for a busted refrigerator. Also, it would have been appropriate that if there's nothing resolved within four days, they should have followed up with me. They referred me to someone immediately, but there was zero follow-up from them.

    We had a dishwasher problem. A rubber gasket was put behind it. And then, the back of the refrigerator was drowning. Submitting a claim for it was easy. I called AHS and they sent someone out to fix the dishwasher, however, they didn't cover the refrigerator because the insulation was compromised, which was freaking ridiculous. I called the manufacturer of the refrigerator and there was a recall on it. So they came and helped and they glued a piece of foam rubber, three inches thick, to the back of the refrigerator.

    I had another claim where the ice maker stopped working. The ice maker was frozen at the motor in the exact same spot where the rust was. The tech put a hair dryer in there and defrosted it. I'm just waiting for the refrigerator to break again. The insulation is causing the condensation and the condensation is freezing. The refrigerator is gonna break. I called one claim in and did two online. The one I called in, I was on hold an hour. Then I figured I had to do it online. Their response, as well as their technicians, are excellent. Both technicians they've sent were astonished that AHS was not replacing the refrigerator.

    I believe that AHS has a good product, but they have too many clauses, disclaimers and loopholes in it. They don't cover this, they don't cover that. And in my mind, it's sold with the purpose to say that the buyer will not have a large expense on the first year, and it does not. I read the whole thing and there are clauses in almost everything. I don't care if it's the insulation or the handle falls off my refrigerator, I expect it to be fixed. It's an insurance policy. Also, dealing with the upper levels of American Home Shield is a waste of time. I wrote a letter to their realtor, someone I was working with at AHS. I said that one might as well give the money to the buyer of the house instead of spending it on the contract with American Home Shield.

    My dryer wouldn’t shut off and I didn’t think it would heat, either. So, I put in the claim for two. I submitted it through Home Shield and they put a request in to Capital One. The rep said Capital one will call me or I could call Capital One. The rep was excellent. She solves your problem right there on the spot. And she seems to have some electronic knowledge too. She said, “Before we send somebody out, did you hit the circuit breaker on it?”, “On a Samsung, a lot of times that will kick it back in and reset it.” I said I did that twice and I turned it off and the whole nine yards. She said she will then send out a serviceman and she set me up for the next day.

    And the next day, the contractor came. It was real quick. The contractor said, “It’s heating, but when it shuts itself off, it keeps on running. So you’d have no heat. But it does work." And he said he will just order a new panel for me. So, it’s on order now. I’ve dealt with the contractor before and he's excellent. There was a time, where the appliance was making a strange noise. You could hear it throughout the whole house. It was a scraping noise but it wouldn’t make it all the time. And I figured that when the contractor is here, it would quit making this. So, I recorded the noise on my iPhone.

    When he came in, he turned it on and there was no noise. I told him I've recorded it on my iPhone. I turned on the recorded noise and he said, “Oh, I know what it is right off the bat.” So, he took it apart and went in there and fixed it. And he had the part on hand and he was in and out in 20 minutes. The contractor did good. Some companies, sometimes you have to wait about two weeks for them to get serviced to you but the contractor we’ve had has always done it really quick 'cause they will send somebody out from Shelbyville. I would recommend American Home Shield. I’ve got a friend and told them to sign up on the Home Shield some time ago. It’s a nice company. But you gotta use them. That’s the key.

    I recently made a plumbing claim and the tech did a very good job. He replaced our garbage disposal and fixed the pipe under our sink. I initially submitted it online, but then I had to call because I needed to add the garbage disposal to the sink repair. And then our toilet also started acting up so I tried to add that on, but he didn’t get that in time. But he still made the flapper where it wouldn’t run so much. I had called prior to him leaving the first job and that claim was supposed to get put on there, but there was a mouse running around the office of American Home Shield and everybody was screaming, except for the lady on the phone with me. She was trying to remain cool because she was on the phone with a customer.

    My one real complaint about American Home Shield is that we had an electric panel go out and it blew our refrigerator, but we didn’t know it was the refrigerator so we tried to plug it in the den ‘cause we’d done that before. We tapped down the refrigerator cord because my husband is legally blind and I fall a lot. When the contractor came out to do the refrigerator check, they said it had been tapped down a long time and that the plug in the den was what made the compressor blow out because it was too low powered, which is a bunch of crap. And so, they didn’t pay for the refrigerator. I paid a couple of thousand dollars for the electric and I had to spend $1,000 on a new refrigerator. But most of the time, AHS has been really good. We had an air conditioner claim and they had someone come out and fix it. We’ve also had plumbing and electrical claims that they’ve worked on a couple of times.

    AHS said that they couldn't repair my oven. So I've ordered a new one which has been over two weeks ago. But I still haven't heard from them since and I'm still waiting for the oven. I haven't been in contact with them as well because they're not that easy to talk with. I get all those recordings and go through it. I've called them before when I was trying to check on the process and we get cut-off. Then I gotta call back, get another claims person and tell the whole story all over again. Finally I said I wanted a direct line number. They transferred me but said their lines were having trouble, couldn't take any calls at that time and hung up. But the contractor company that came out to give me the initial quote was fine and the tech was very professional. It's just with American Home Shield that I'm frustrated and not very happy with. I've never had problems with repair service but this replacement deal has been a nightmare.

    Two months ago, I put in my first claim for a water heater on my contract with American Home Shield. However, I never heard from A Plus Plumbing. I tried to call them the other day, and they were closed. Then three weeks ago, I went through AHS's website to file a claim for my dryer. They made it very clear that to get it done, I have to authorize the predetermined amount for the dispatch.     I had a plumbing problem recently and I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online, which was fairly easy. The contractor called up a couple of days before he was coming and then set up an appointment. I was having a problem with the pressure being too high on the water, and so he went in and took a look at it. He told me that he would go and get approval to change the pressure settings, but I haven’t heard back from him yet. I’m still waiting because he needs to change the pressure meter in order to fix the problem. But he’s come and done stuff for us before and he's great.

    It took quite a long time for me to get the service that I needed. I called American Home Shield first and said that I needed my freezer and dishwasher fixed. But I wanted it to be in one swoop with one company so that I had only have to pay $75. I was not going to put out $150 to have two different people come out. AHS said it was not a problem, yet they got me in touch with two different companies and both could only do one of my claims. So, by the time that was all said and done, I was totally frustrated and I gave up.

    Then, I called back because the dishwasher still wasn’t working well and neither was the freezer. AHS got me Black Diamond and that company said that they could do both items, so that worked out well. But then it took almost a month for me to find out what was going on. Apparently, the gentleman who came out and diagnose had to leave town on an emergency. The paperwork didn’t get in until a week later and I lived through that whole thing. The repair got done by the end of March.

    I spoke to a rep at one time and she was fantastic. She did really well calming me down and explaining what was going on. She assured me that something would happen, and it did. But I do not know if I would renew my contract with them only because I’m at their mercy just like any of the other ones. AHS decides on what they’re going to fix and what they’re not. They would not cover my dishwasher where you have to push the button and get the thing to go. They told the technician that that would be something that may be fixed if the dishwasher went out again. AHS is in the business to make money and lose money at the same time and I understand their business model to a certain degree. But I’m not going to be taken advantage of. I’d rather put 75 bucks away a month, making a bit of interest so when I need something repaired, I can get it done on my own. Overall, all went well but I most likely will not renew with AHS, not for 500 and something bucks.

    I had a plumbing problem and then, we had to fix it with a drywaller because there was a trap in the middle of the wall that led down to the concrete plateau we have here for the house. American Home Shield sent out a contractor. We thought it was a couple of different things and I have found out there was a drain from a sink rather than the shower or the toilet. So, he worked at it. He was very knowledgeable but we had a tough problem to solve. He was out here three times, but we got it fixed. We finally tracked down the exact location where the drainage was and since the repair, there hasn't been any leak. I've had American Home Shield for 20 years now and I've filed claims online and I've called as well. Their prices keep going up, though. When they started out, it was $37 a service call. And now, it's $75 a service call and $575 a year instead of $350. But I have no trouble with them aside from the prices.

    The first claim I had was for my glass stovetop which was on gas. I was boiling water one day and the glass just popped. So, I called AHS and asked if they can replace the glass for the stovetop. A guy came to inspect and accused me that I broke the glass and it was deliberate. So I called back AHS and said, “I’ll just cancel the contract. No use for me anyway.” Then, someone called me from American Home Shield telling me that that was what the contractor told me. The rep suggested that she can send another inspector and it was going to be another $75. I told her no. I can use the money to buy a new one.

    I called AHS back and they sent me to their retention number. I spoke to a guy and I said that I don’t see any use for the contract. I thought it’s an insurance because I just bought the house to insure the appliances there already. I requested to have it cancelled and just refund me, prorate the policy and use that money to buy a new one, which I already did. But then, the guy said that he’ll just give me a credit back in case I need something else. Then, I had another problem with the AC as there was no air coming out of the vents. I was cancelling the warranty but the rep was able to talk me into not cancelling and then sent another technician. At that time, the AC was getting worse. The contractor turned the AC on. It looked like it was working, but there was no air coming in. I can just hear the motor running outside the house.

    It was another week till a guy came and he was good. He was able to fix the AC. Now, the AC’s been working fine. He changed a motor where it’s blowing the air and then he added some Freon. He charged me two pounds of Freon and I paid it. It’s an old AC so, it was okay. I was happy because the first guy looked crabby. I just happened to have a bad experience on the very first claim but the second time was good.

    The microwave over the stove and the stove were in need to be looked at. And when I was trying to fill out the claim online at American Home Shield, my computer was freezing. I started by typing to the describe the microwave oven. I put in there as well the oven because it was shortening out. It was cutting off, and the microwave was not heating up food. Whatever happened, it did not go through with me online. I called back twice before the third time I called and it got rectified with an agent. But, between that time, the tech came out to try to see what went through. However, I kept being put on hold and I would get disconnected, and then the representative did not call me back.

    When the technician from Hotpoint came out and when I told him about the oven, he said that wasn’t on his ticket. I told him that was what I was requesting too because it was both of it. It was on top of each other. The third representative from AHS told me to call them and let them know to get the ticket fixed or if he could not, he would not be able to service the oven and see that something was wrong with it. When I got put on hold this time, I did not get disconnected and she ended up calling the tech guy, and he explained everything. And then she went back to me and it was as simple as that. It was supposed to be different and she fixed it so it was okay. It got added on to the ticket. I’m now waiting to hear back from the servicing agent to set up a time cause he still had to submit the claim for the microwave because it had quite a few things wrong with it. It started smoking and smelling burnt when he was testing it out.

    Overall, American Home Shield is convenient and it has a fair cost. Although I had to call three times for something that is simple, they came out and they were able to fix it with no problems. They explained to me what the problem was. The company’s been good at communicating, and the contractors come when they say they are going to come. So, I would recommend AHS.

    We were trying to sell the house and in the inspection, the AC guys said that our AC had a bad condenser and it was gonna cost $3000 to replace.     I called AHS to submit a claim for my dryer and they said, "What's the problem?" I told them and they said, "We'll have somebody come out." The tech that came out was good. He tried to get a part, came back a couple of days later and he did what he said what he was going to do. On the other hand, we had a previous call and the garbage disposal guy never showed up so that wasn’t so good. A friend of mine suggested I do something and I decided to look. It was something that was fairly easy to take care of myself.

    Other than that, I find it unbelievable that you pay $70 a month for the warranty and then when you call, you pay another $85 for the service call. That's theoretically what the monthly fee is paid for. Also, it seems we are paying monthly for a service call that only comes out once a year. So far, they have always managed to just keep a band-aid on everything. But I'm anxious to see what happens if I have to make a real replacement claim.

    Our water heater wasn’t working properly, and the claim was submitted to American Home Shield over the phone. Typically in the past, AHS required a deductible of $100 to be paid to the technician that came out. But AHS has since changed that where you now pay them the deductible. The company that was sent out, Milan Mechanical, was very professional and the tech was extremely friendly and very polite. They diagnosed the problem and found that whoever installed it previously installed an energy saving timer, a manual timer that would set AM and PM. The timer had not been working properly so it wasn’t turning the water heater on and off, and we were able to disconnect that and hook it up.

    We've also used Milan Mechanical for our air conditioning unit that went bad. They came out and diagnosed it and wrote up an estimate. I ended up using a family friend to replace the unit, but the gentleman that came was extremely nice to my wife. I’m happy that there’s a company out there such as American Home Shield because it really allows people to repair items in their home without having to pay astronomical prices right upfront.

    The appliance claim I filed with American Home Shield hasn’t been resolved yet. They told me that I either have to buy one of their washers or I'd be reimbursed if I bought another one. However, I wasn’t sure how I’d go about getting my money back, how much I’ll get back, etc. I was calling to see how I'd go about doing that and I couldn't get anybody to answer the phone. The contractor, Family First, were okay at first but they started going slow as well. They were the other one that I had kept having to call because they would either not answer the phone or kept getting me to run around. I still haven’t got a washer or dryer yet and I don’t want that I won't get the maximum amount of money back.

    I was reading something on American Home Shield's page on the email they sent me about a situation if I bought my own washer. The one that they sent me were lesser washers and they’re smaller than what I have. I don’t wanna get anything like that and I wanna get the top of the line now. Something that’s comparable sitting in my area but what they have was a step back and I don't wanna go backwards. So, I'm gonna purchase the one I wanted. It’s about $900 for the washer and they said that at first I would get $474 back. But if I purchase it myself, I was gonna lose money and I was wondering why.     A washer of mine broke down and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor that they sent was quick, friendly, professional and very responsive. I've done 15 loads with the washer since the repair. American Home Shield is wonderful, but I hate that in my area, they do not have a good air conditioning company, and it's been going on for years now. I'm sure they've searched and searched but they have one air conditioning company that is the most dishonest company I've ever met. Other than that, we've been with AHS since 2001 and I recommend them all the time.

    I had been an American Home Shield customer since 2011 when I purchased my home. Initially they were pretty responsive and professional, but as the years went by, they became much less responsive and downright rude. After 7 years they are more than happy to take your payment premiums, but less and less likely to approve any repairs. The last straw with me came when I needed to repair/replace my hot water heater. The company they sent installed a defective heater which leaked almost immediately. When I called to report the problem, they were argumentative and dismissive. After weeks of leaking, I called them once again to report the defective hot water heater.

    In the end, they did not stand behind the hot water heater that they installed and told me "too bad, it's your problem now." Their phone reps are rude and unprofessional "**". They have no customer loyalty and no care for problems that they are responsible for. I fired them immediately and cancelled any bank drafts. I guess at one time they were a good company, but as times have changed, they have changed to the negative aspect of business practices. YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. THEY SHOULD BE AVOIDED. I imagine they will be going out of business soon, or at least I hope so.

    American Home Shield is a good home warranty. When I went out to start hooking the hose up for the spring, I noticed that the outdoor spigot was leaking. I had to turn off the water because even when I had shut off the valve it was still leaking. I called American Home Shield and their reps were good and helpful. Then they sent out a contractor who was great and knowledgeable, and he fixed the issue quickly. He also gave me some advice on how to avoid the same problem in the future.     In mid-March, I put in a work order with American Home Shield for the stove, dishwasher and dryer. They sent somebody out and he repaired the stove, the dryer and supposedly the dishwasher. I then discovered that the dishwasher was still leaking. I called them back and they came out the second time. They said that they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I’ve been back and forth with someone ever since the latter part of March and no one has come out to actually fix my dishwasher. I’ve called them at least four times and they’ve told me that someone would contact within 24 hours but no one has contacted me until now.

    I had some toilet backup for which I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield. There was a bit of frustration on the online portal because I also had a shower head that needed to be looked at, and there was no place to address it. The online portal is not very thorough in being able to list complaints and there's nothing dealing with showers or bathtubs. The only thing they had was a leak option. So, though it was not really a leak but a shower head that was not working properly, I had to put it down as a leak. And of course, when the plumber got here, that wasn't on the ticket. They told me I need to call American Home Shield back and open up another ticket because they were never told about this on the original ticket. And I got a follow-up call, which was good, and I told them what happened.

    Another frustrating thing was that the first contractor who came told me that the toilets needed to be replaced and it's not a covered part on the deal. And he wanted to charge me 600 bucks extra. That doesn't make sense to me because the house is only two years old and it's brand new. It just seemed like he wanted to try and get some extra money. So, I called American Home Shield back and they said, "Okay. We'll send out a second opinion." And then the second contractor they sent out was able to address the problem and without additional charges. The guy just snaked it properly and now it's working fine. Overall, I've been very happy with American Home Shield. It's worked out really well.

    My renter keeps telling me there’s something wrong with the dryer and he keeps putting in claims for it on all kinds of issues. But Alpha Appliance, the contractor sent by AHS, has been out several times for that dryer and they never found anything wrong with it, even during the last time they came out, after I sent the claim in. At that time, the contractor's service was good. The technician inspected the whole dryer and I was very happy with him.

    Everybody at AHS has been very polite and the service has been quick, although sometimes I had to wait for a part. I’m at the point where I’m starting to do some contract renewals and, right now, I’m looking for which warranty company is the least expensive in terms of the price and how much we have to pay every time a contractor comes out. So, those are my two, big considerations. I have three companies that I’m going to look at and AHS is definitely one of them. I’ve been very happy with American Home Shield.

    I've had to file multiple claims to American Home Shield. I have one of those kitchen faucets that when you touch, it turns on and off. And Still Waters Plumbing was there for that. It was pretty quick to get the contractor out and I was impressed. Since the repair, the kitchen faucet has been working great. But my biggest complaint is that the contractor has to wait for parts from a specific supplier or source rather than using a local source part. So, my kitchen faucet was not working for a week or two. That's a problem but it's stuff I can live with. I had the same thing with my ice maker recently. They had to order the part, so I didn't have ice for two weeks. Also, I've had some other issues lately with my washer and dryer.

    I'm trying to figure out how to change my policy right now and I don't think there's a way. American Home Shield has a Pick 10 where I pick 10 appliances or services under my contract. I know it's up sometime in May and I wanted to change the mix of what's covered because my dishwasher was recently replaced, so I don't really think it needs to be on the list. Overall though, I'd definitely recommend American Home Shield.

    Our refrigerator stopped cooling. I submitted the claim with American Home Shield online and their site was very user-friendly. I submitted the request for service, for someone to come out and look at the fridge, on a Saturday and I had someone come and look at it on Monday, so the turnaround was great. The contractor was out here for 20 minutes and figured out that the problem was with the condenser, then called American Home Shield right away to let them know how much it was gonna cost to fix the fridge. I got an email from American Home Shield within 48 hours telling me my options for the refrigerator and they ended up offering to replace the whole unit.

    Everything with this claim started last week and the new refrigerator is getting installed this coming Friday, so the claims process took a total of two weeks. It sucks not having a refrigerator but we were able to go with getting the new fridge for the time being, so it has been fine. I'm very pleased with the way that American Home Shield handled our situation.     I had three toilets repeatedly clogging up and overflowing and it would take us a good day before we could get them undone. So, we were bombing it with baking soda and vinegar, and dish soap. We also tried to snake it and nothing happened. The last time, it took us too long to get it undone. We didn’t think we were gonna get it done so we decided that it’s for the home warranty people to handle. We called American Home Shield and they sent out Steinberger. They used to use Billio Plumbing which were nice and honest.

    The first guy from Steinberger didn’t really look. He flushed both of the toilets and of course they flushed good except for the one upstairs was kind of slow. And then, he looked at the roof from outside on the ground, he came back in and said we needed new toilets. He said we needed the air-assist flushing because the venting isn’t good. Since they were gonna replace the toilet, I knew we were gonna have to pay the difference. We wanted to get the tall ones and it was $235 for both. It was a little pricey but that’s fine so I told him to go ahead. When they replaced them, the guy that originally showed up came in and showed the gentleman who’s gonna be replacing the two. And then he left. I didn’t see him for the rest of the day and then he called the guy that was working here. He asked him to tell us that it’s gonna be $19 each for the water hookup to go from the shutoff valve to the tank.

    That should be covered according to what I read in the warranty so, my husband called American Home Shield and told them we have this problem. Before he called them, the guy said we have to send him $314. And my husband was told him that what he said was $235 and if you add roughly $40, that’s not $314. He is telling us something different now and I told him we’re not paying until he gives me a receipt. Once they email it, I will be happy to write a check. He said American Home Shield doesn’t pay for the upgrade for the whole system. I told him I understand paying for the toilets because we got the tall and the long ones but it was him who said we have to have the air-assist because of the venting and that was a must to the toilet or it will continue to overflow no matter what toilet we put in here and it sounds like a covered issue.

    He saw that I got a little pissy so my husband said he’s gonna call American Home Shield and so, he did. The lady didn’t know what my husband was talking about. The guy hadn’t even sent them his diagnoses yet and when my husband told the guy that, he became really abrupt and said that we were trying to scam him. My husband told him that it was what American Home Shield told us. He said he will talk to them. We told him to go ahead since it’s what the lady told us. AHS said they would call us and they haven’t called us yet. My husband said to just pay the guy to be done with him and we’ll talk to American Home Shield about it later. That’s pretty much where we’ve left it. I’ve called them this morning because the one toilet downstairs is leaking out of the tank and they haven’t called me back yet.

    I had to go by the guy's office because he told me the receipt would be ready and it wasn’t. He told me he was gonna come by our house that day when I got home from my appointment and he never showed up. He said that he didn’t have to come and when I went to his office it was a soft storage facility. It wasn’t even a office. It was very weird so it was very uncomfortable but that’s okay. The toilets actually have flushed and we haven’t had any overflowing incident yet except for this leaking tank that he is not calling me back on. I hope he does because I don’t wanna pay American Home Shield another $75 for them to send somebody else out when it should be all taken care of. Other than them not calling me when they said they would, I have no complaints with American Home Shield.

    I filed a claim online with American Home Shield to fix my garbage disposal. It was a less than five-minute visit because the tech that they sent just had to reset a button. The worst thing about AHS though is the wait time. If I ever need to change my appointment or I have issues, the wait time could be over an hour and a half. Also, my dishwater needs a follow-up but I don’t have time to wait for the contractor to show up. It’s hard for me to stay home all day. During another time, the water heater broke and it took about four days for the rep to get out here. There’s a kink in their system where once the rep takes the claim, they have three days to reach out to the customer and that’s an issue especially if it’s an emergency service.     I'm a long time American Home Shield customer. Sometimes the warranty has been helpful, and sometimes things haven't been too great. The main problem is when the unit is covered under the plan but some of its parts are not covered, so you'll never know what you will expect. The last time I called in to submit a claim, it was for my broken water heater. The contractor who came was extremely rude. He practically didn’t explain anything nor answer any question. It looked like he didn’t want to do the job. He just told me that people from American Home Shield would call me, and that he told them that the repair would be expensive and he would need to work a lot. He also mentioned that he knows quotes and he cannot build for a reasonable price according to quotes. But all the explanation I should hear from American Home Shield as he declined to give one.

    I went to another company and they decided that they've completed the job, but the work was still not completed. The new heater didn't fit. It was not covered too. I called them and they promised me to call back, yet I didn't receive any call. I've also called American Home Shield many times. And from the time that they directed me to the approval department, I've had no problems. The people there were very collaborative. They also explained everything.

    Our first claim with American Home Shield was for the dryer and that went very smoothly. The guy came out and fixed it right away. Then, we had a claim for the water heater and they also came out right away. They let us know that there was nothing we could do to solve it and we needed to buy a booster. We were pleased with the result and the information they provided us.

    The third was that the ice maker wasn't working so I filed a claim online. The online system is pretty self-explanatory. I had to include the refrigerator maker and what was wrong with it. They sent an acknowledgment email and then the next day, we talked on the phone. It was two weeks when the contractor first came out and the interaction with him was very pleasant. He checked the whole refrigerator, the ice maker, and the connection to the water line. We have a two-door refrigerator and he determined in about 30 or 40 minutes that he needed to replace the left door with the ice maker in it. He ordered the part and that was when things got a little complicated.

    He said he would replace it right away but they've given us four different delivery dates and four different installation dates and it hasn't been done yet. We had the first date pretty quickly but they cancelled saying the part wasn't in yet and that has happened four times. At this point, it's primarily between me and the vendor. He didn't call and leave a message the first two times. The third and the fourth time, I had to call American Home Shield to find out that the delivery date had again been cancelled and postponed. The communication has sort of dried up in the last week but I'm still confident that they will deliver the part.

    American Home Shield has done a good job for us. I've had three claims with them and all of them were done very well. The last time we submitted a claim, the appliance broke and we called them.     My glass stovetop had a manufacture defect. When I cooked on it, it cracked and now, I’m using three burners instead of four where it cracked. The experience of filing a claim with American Home Shield was excellent. That same day, I already had someone calling me. That was perfect. The company that came out here for the stove was excellent. They were prompt with their response and there was constant communication.     I have a cooktop that has a vent, and it stopped working. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out to fix it. Claim submission online was super easy. I put in what I needed and they had somebody call me within 24 business hours. However, I had an issue with the vendor that they had. There was a mixed-up between them. I called and the vendor ended up charging me a little extra. I have had three contractors come out and they've all been wonderful. This incident happened when they sent somebody out again to re-do a repair. It wasn't a big deal, but when I called them about it, they were great and they ended up refunding me. They were qualified and knew what they were doing, so it has been a good experience.

    American Home Shield is transparent. I have heard from people that other warranty companies sometimes say that they are going to cover things but they do not exactly cover things. My cooktop is a Viking so it is expensive. I was figuring that maybe they would cap it out at a certain cost because it is more expensive than the average cooktop to fix, but they honored everything. With AHS, I had my furnace, dryer and the cooktop fixed. They do exactly as they said they would. They exceed expectation.

    Having a warranty is so valuable because I just had an expensive thing break. My most recent claim was for the water heater and this claim was excellent. But on my very first claim that was for a toilet, I got a really bad plumber who refused to fix it. And he said he had to call AHS for their permission to come back another time. So I had to call back, but that guy had booked himself out for a month. When American Home Shield tried to book him back, they said that he was on an extended vacation, so I thought that he didn’t want to come back to see me. Then AHS got me another plumber who was great. He right away said that the repair needed to happen and it will be done in 20 minutes.

    Then when I realized the water heater broke on a Friday morning and the laundry room floor kept filling up with water, I called American Home Shield to see what I should do and asked them if I could get that same plumber but they said they weren’t supposed to do that. And I told them that they had sent him in the first place and then they asked if he was an AHS plumber and I said yes and that I really wanted somebody I could trust.

    So AHS set an appointment for that same plumber on a Monday. But it was causing extra damage so it was important to get it done that Saturday. I called AHS back and asked them if they could get a plumber out on a Saturday and their rep was really nice about it and looked into and made it happen. So I was totally happy. Also, the plumber texted me to see how everything was and if everything was okay even if it was his day off. That is the type of worker I want. I will be always calling him and I'm gonna use him forever even after my warranty expires. When you have good people that worked for you, it's such a winning thing for everybody.

    I had an issue with the garbage disposal and submitting the claim to American Home Shield was no problem. I scheduled it over the phone and then a contractor called me back later. They had to come twice to resolve the issue. I learned after they left the first time that it still wasn’t completely remediated so I had to have somebody a second time. But it has been working fine since the repair. It was disappointing that it took two trips for the contractor to complete a good job but it was satisfactory. And I don't know if there's anything American Home Shield can do about that. This is my first experience with them and I've learned of the limited options as far as contractor or workers they send out to your home.

    About two months ago, the level on the pool had dropped and my husband didn't have any idea what it was. Since the pool is included in our policy, I called American Home Shield for a claim. It turned out to be a leak in the cement, which is not covered so I had to pay for that repair. But AHS covered the replacement of some tubing that's on the pump system, which is above the ground. And the people that they recommended were very nice. They were very punctual and they kept us informed of what was going on. American Home Shield was very efficient in handling the claim. They were cooperative and didn't drag their feet on it. They told me who to call so that I could set up with our schedules too. And that was perfectly acceptable. It's easier that way for everybody concerned. I was very happy with their service.

    We signed up with American Home Shield on the recommendation of our neighbor and we have recommended it to friends too. AHS was available, treated us with respect and gave us the information for what we needed to do. You can save a lot of money in the long run by covering major expenses down the road. Before we got AHS, we had replaced the hot water heater and a few things like that. For the amount of money that you pay, it isn't nearly what an icemaker or a refrigerator cost.

    My appliance wasn’t heating. The technician sent by AHS was pretty fast at coming out and I liked that I was able to track and know what time they were gonna get to my house on the app. He said that it was a fuse that he needed to change which he did and the appliance was fixed in a timely manner. I was able to do my laundry but then, it stopped heating again. I like that there was a record that I had caught about it before and I didn’t have to repeat the same information over. It’s also good that I wasn’t charged again for the same issue.

    After the appliance was fixed the second time, it heated maybe a load of clothes and then by the next one it stopped. I tried to contact the technician again, but I couldn’t get through to anyone in the office and I could even leave a voicemail because it said that their mailbox was full. I did the third request on Saturday and I have not heard from anyone. I would like someone to call me and let me know how many times will they have to come out and fix the same issue. I'm not happy. On the other hand, I always recommend AHS to others.

    Our heater never stopped from blowing and it just continuously kept on. When I turn off the thermostat, it would just stay on. I made a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and their rep was amazingly quick. The contractor who came here was very knowledgeable. He went down to the furnace and didn’t see anything wrong downstairs, so he came up here and I explained to him the situation.     The first home issue that we had was a leak, and a plumber was called out. They looked at the issue and told us that the pipe would not be fixed and he put tape around it and left. (We could've done that ourselves). Then we had a problem with lights going out all throughout our house. There was obviously a deeper electrical issue that needed to be resolved, but the electrician that was sent told us that we are going to have to replace a light fixture and one pull switch on another fan light. But when I talked to American Home Shield they said that they didn't cover light fixtures. I explained that I needed the electrician to look into the deeper issue and not just a light fixture. Well, because I didn't have a ticket for that they were going to create a another ticket and send a different electrician out for a second opinion and then charge us another $75.

    I have yet to have an issue with my home that American Home Shield has completely resolved without having to call a separate plumber or electrician on my own. What a waste of money! Not to mention the girl on the phone was coughing into the phone the whole time, and whenever I asked to talk to a manager she refused.

    After having some initial issues (see prior review) I was contacted by a representative. After reviewing the notes of the incident they said they understood this was a special case.
    In the end, they resolved the issues to my satisfaction and they stood behind the service of their contractors.

    Like I said in my last review, it's easy to be a good company when things are good, the true measure is how they perform when things go bad. In this instance, their performance was excellent. I am impressed and happy with the results.

    An earlier review was submitted, but the service wasn't done yet... now we have a problem. The best indication of a company isn't how they respond when things are good but rather how they respond when there is a problem. When the first technician came out he said the refrigerant was empty. I suggested that it indicates a leak, he said he couldn't find one - so I had to pay to have it filled (AHS only covers up to $10 lb). Not ecstatic about it, but I understood. We had some problems with the technician (after 2 visits) and when we had a new problem, when we contacted AHS we asked them to send a different technician which they did.

    I explained the history of all this to each of the 3 next technicians (who were all much more pleasant and professional than the first technician). I explained that from my limited understanding, if you are EMPTY there is likely a leak - they all agreed. When the last technician came to the house (who once again was professional and pleasant), the tank was empty again (after less than 3 weeks from the prior filling, with 2 service calls in between). He found the leak in about 5 minutes because it was a large, obvious leak once you looked, but then he had to refill it. My assumption is that I paid once, it would not be reasonable to think I should have to pay again... I mean I am having the same company come out - AHS. I am not on their board and do not decide who they contract with, they do.

    When he finished he presented me with a bill for $935! Apparently they charge $95/lb. For reference: If you look online you will see cost is about $150 for a 25 lb canister or about $6/lb. I understand a company needs to sell above cost... but a %1400 markup? It's not like I had an opportunity to shop around, get quotes, etc. The technician who came to my house was obviously competent and pleasant whereas the original technician caused the 3rd service call and didn't spot an obvious leak. My contacted the company (AHS) to explain our situation. Their representative just kept stating "not our responsibility". At this point I'm out another $935. I could have paid someone reasonable out of my own pocket for the repair AND the refrigerant for less than that, so why do I have this warranty? At this point I feel like we were played. I'm extremely disappointed.

    A new refrigerator would have been cheaper!! I'm losing about $2000 worth of wages and food!! The contractor they finally signed me up with, cannot come out to look at my broken refrigerator, till April 27th, which is 10 days from now. I will have to lose a whole other day of work, and I will lose about $500 dollars worth of food by then. Total cost to me will end up being about $2,000.00 in lost wages, and lost food!!! A new refrigerator would have been cheaper!! After a technician finally comes out here to look at this refrigerator, they will most likely tell me that I need a new refrigerator and American Home Shield will only cover about $500 dollars toward a new refrigerator, so I will also have to pay another $1500 on top of the $2,000 dollars I have already lost!!

For the past 15 years, I have about 1000 customers that I have been doing business with who ask me about home warranty services all the time. I have also been contacted by several home warranty companies, asking me to do work for their customers, but they do not pay enough to even cover my costs of doing business in the Seattle area, this is why they cannot provide quality service, in a timely manner!!

    My toilet was backing out, so I called AHS and they gave me somebody to call. They told me that it could take up to 24 hours for somebody to contact me. I didn't like the company they sent, however. The guy did the job fast, but he said he finished the job because he broke up something outside of my house. I was told that they can fix it, so I had to keep calling them and reporting the person to come out. But every time I call, they tell me that they couldn't help me and that their systems were down and that all they could do is take a bill. Otherwise, I have to go through the automatic machine. I didn't like that either. They should update that so-called system. But I would still recommend AHS.

    We have two plans with American Home Shield and our most recent claim was for my son's dryer. The techs came over and did that directly with my son. We were also having problems with electrical breakers blowing frequently and light jamming, so the tech came out, traced everything through and found that it wasn't something that was going to be covered by our plan anyway. But he gave us a quote and then he came out and fixed it on the next visit. My husband submitted the claim with American Home Shield and their staff has been fine and the experience has been great. We had a little break down with the communications of between the electric company and us and they had sent an email out. It's our 2nd year with American Home Shield. We just call and they schedule somebody and they come out. The people that come out have all been very friendly and accommodating.

    They're good about finding somebody if they don't have somebody contacted in our area, which is strange when they don't have somebody contracted in our area. Usually, they find somebody in 10-24 hours. I would recommend American Home Shield and I have recommended them before because it's nice to have it. You never know when something’s gonna go wrong and how much it's gonna end up costing you. It's a sense of security knowing that at least we have it to fall back on and somebody could help us get somebody out here quickly.

    We bought the house three years ago. I took out the home warranty from another company then and their price went up quite a bit, so I searched around and got American Home Shield. Recently, the circuit board went out on the blower and furnace. I submitted a claim online and the website was pretty user-friendly. The contractor came in late in the day and he checked to see what the issue was. He didn’t have the equipment with him at the time, but he came by to see if it was an issue that he could fix without his equipment. He came back the next day with his equipment to test it and then he had to order the circuit board since it wasn’t something he could get locally. It took longer because it was over the weekend, but he got it fixed in four days.

    The air conditioner and the heater were about 15 years old. It operates real well now ‘cause we just replaced all of it. All we've ever used AHS for is the heating and air conditioning unit, and when I had all that replaced, I just discontinued the warranty since I don’t want it anymore. If a friend wanted to get a home warranty, AHS would not be a bad company to get one from. But all home warranty companies are pretty much the same. Regardless of what’s wrong with the equipment, they’ll do whatever they can to keep it running. It nickels-and-dimes you for the service call and then with your monthly or yearly fee, you’re out of that money too. If someone continually has experience with issues, it might be worth it. Either that or just get a new unit, which is what I did.

    Whenever I file a claim with American Home Shield, it has been an excellent experience. I do it over the phone and I get a rep straight through. Contractors then contact me in about four days and my experience with them has been excellent as well. They have been easy to communicate with and they're very knowledgeable. I have a recently finished claim for my air conditioner where the blower motor on the outside was bad. The bearings were out on it, so the tech replaced that and it worked fine. And now I have an ongoing claim because the GFI in my master bathroom went out. Therefore, it didn’t allow the outside outlets to work. So, the tech’s going to Home Depot to get a new GFI to replace that and he said that should take care of the outside ones too. Overall, American Home Shield's contractors have done fantastic work on my claims, and they were efficient, timely and professional.

    I was new to my home when I moved this time last year and being a first-time homeowner, I've haven't had the best experience with American Home Shield. The chain on the toilet broke. I called AHS and they asked me to pay a $75 fare to get it fixed. I got to put my information in the system and then someone called me and they asked me about the certain days available. I picked one and they came out and performed the duty. The man that came out to fix the toilet was very knowledgeable. He fixed not only the chains, but he put a new rubber piece on the bottom of the inside of the bowl. He said that it’ll prevent the water from leaking and draining.

    The other contractor that came to fix my dishwasher also did a good job. They cleaned my dishwasher and they took it out, took a toothbrush and cleaned the inside of it. They said it will work well. But once they were gone, I attempted to use the dishwasher the next week and I had the same problem. My dishes were not getting cleaned and neither were they drying, and it's still not drying. The tech recommended a certain liquid to get to assist in preventing water from remaining on the dishes so I went and I purchased them but it's still not draining the dishes. Now, what I do is I just scrub the dishes down real good. I put them in the dishwasher and I let them wash. After the drying process is over, I open the dishwasher up and I just dry them.

    I'm not pleased with the service. If the dishes were not drying, the dishwasher's not fixed. The toilet that the young man came out and fixed, this is the second time that it broke in a year. AHS came out and fixed it before and it broke again right away. Get AHS because it's convenient when it comes to something broken. But shop around if there’s something else out there you can get that works like American Home Shield. I'm going to consider the pricing of something else as well before I renew them.
