I submitted two claims online at the same time to American Home Shield and their website was great. It's always done what I wanted it to do. Their service was great on both counts. The contractors came out, looked at the dishwasher and the microwave and didn't take 15 minutes. They had to order parts, which I understood, then when they got in, they called me and then came and fixed it. They were great. They did exactly everything I thought they would do and charged me exactly what they said they would charge me, so I’d have to say that’s a pretty perfect vendor. I’ve recommended American Home Shield several times and tell people to contact them and ask them about their different programs and that whatever program they put you on, that’s exactly what they would do.

I submitted two claims online, one for the heater and another for the refrigerator. The guy that came for the refrigerator was great. However, the guy that came out for the heater didn’t know the heater from the air conditioner. It still didn’t work, so I called American Home Shield back as I wanted somebody else to come out. He didn’t do anything the first time, and I sure didn't want him back out here again. AHS said, “No, he has to come three times before we can assign someone else.” And he never called back. As soon as I have time, I’m going to cancel the warranty and go with someone else because I don’t want that guy coming back out here.

I had an issue with the pool's motor pump in this rental property and it had to be replaced, which was fine. But a week later, I got a call from the renter saying that the filtration system has a leak. I called American Home Shield and I asked if they can send somebody to evaluate and see what it is. AHS contracted Pool Busters to go out there. And then I got a call from Pool Busters and they said that the filter was broken and that they needed to replace it. I told them that I just replaced it about a year ago. They said I don't have to worry since I would just pay for my deductible and they'd get AHS to get it replaced. I told them that I don't want to pay that type of a deductible especially on a brand new filter. I also told them I'd get my maintenance guy to go take a look at it and I'd call them back.

I called my maintenance guy. He came back and said there was nothing wrong with the filter. The bolts just needed tightening right in the middle where the filter connects. He fixed it and charged me around $19.99 for the adjustment. I sent a very upset text at the Pool Buster lady and I said their evaluation of the problem with my filter was incorrect. Then she said they didn’t tell me that it was broken and just said it might be. I told her that the pool guy just made an adjustment where it clips on and he tightened up the bolts.

The lady from Pool Buster got all upset and I said it is bad business sense and that they are trying to rip me off and AHS as well. I also told her that I will report Pool Buster. So I filed a report with AHS because they need to be aware of potential scam artists like the Pool Buster people especially because I got it fixed for a cheap price. AHS should be aware that Pool Busters is not a company that they might want to contract with because if that's what they wanted to do with the filter, who knows what they want to do with the others. But with American Home Shield, I have no issues.

I've had American Home Shield since I've had my house built way back in the 80s. Recently, I called them to get the garage door opener fixed. We needed to be able to get the golf cart in and out of the garage. It was great and easy to submit the claim. The people at American Home Shield were very friendly. However, the first company that American Home Shield sent out was horrible. They came out three times and they were horrible all those times. They tore up the garage door instead of fixing it.

The second company that American Home Shield sent out told me that they had had problems with that company all along. And that they just want to sell me something which was what the guy did. The second company was awesome and wonderful. They've been really helpful at the home warranty place. I would recommend American Home Shield to a friend. They always made sure that if I had a service ordered that it was taken care of regardless of how many times the people had to come out. And they were always apologetic when things happen that weren't to my satisfaction and help me get it straightened out.

I have had AHS for about 5 months now. It was proposed by my realtor and paid for by the seller of the home when we closed. So far I have had to use it several times and have several different experiences, more bad than good. I will explain my current experience that is still unresolved then briefly explain past experiences.

My most recent repair request was on my electric stove/range. The dial for one of the burners was very sensitive to heat settings and often would sporadically fluctuate from the setting it was supposed to be set at too high or low etc. So I filed a request about 3 weeks ago along with my dishwasher because it was not draining (we never used it but both were covered under the same visit). It seemed like the switch could be a safety/fire hazard since sometimes I would set it on low and next thing I know it is on high.

Anyways, the technician came out, I believe within a few days, and quickly fixed the dishwasher (just needed the drain plug knocked out on the drain) and said the switch for the stove just needs to be replaced. Simple fix, just needed to order the part. I believe I missed their call the following week when they received the part so I had called back, but no answer. I called for several days until I got an answer and scheduled the repair. Later that week the technician came out to do the repair and after he finished he saw that the oven was not working at all. None of the electronic controls were responding and nothing at all was coming up on the main display, like the time, etc. He messed with it for about an hour and took it all back apart to make sure nothing accidentally came loose. He knew it worked before because the time was displayed before he started and turned off the power.

He was unsuccessful with getting it to work, he said likely the Electronic Oven Controller got fried somehow during the repair and he doesn't think it can be replaced, so he said he would put in for a replacement. I talked to the home warranty and told them all of the features, size etc and a few days later they proposed a replacement. I compared the measurements that I could measure, without fully pulling out the oven, as best as I could and I said sure it looks like it would work. A couple days later the delivery people came to exchange out the stove and when it was pulled out they saw that the countertop was slightly narrower at the entrance where the stove goes in and it wouldn't fit the new one. So I told them that I was going to call AHS and see what I should do since I vaguely remembered the information they told me when I ordered it.

I got a response from the automated system that it could take greater than 30 minutes to speak to someone (which isn't unusual, I have waited for over an hour multiple times in the past). The delivery guy doesn't say anything in response and went outside. I went into my office to wait for someone to answer and next thing I realize is that the delivery people are leaving. They had already taken the new oven and replaced the old one and left. They didn't say anything to me or try to communicate if they would try to reschedule or come back later or if they were just going to say I refused it. After 40 minutes I finally get ahold of someone. They pretty much just told me that according to my contract I would have to be responsible for any modification fees or restocking fees by sending it back. I stated that since the technician broke my oven maybe they should try to come and install/modify it.

They said that it was in my contract that it was my responsibility, regardless of the circumstances. So I said that I wanted to speak to a supervisor, someone that might care about the customer and the entire situation, not just a contract. She put in the request and said that it may take 24-48 hours for the supervisor to contact me. The next day I had missed the call from the supervisor because I was at work but all she did was leave a message restating the contract terms and told me to call appliance ordering to continue with the replacement procedures. I called the appliance department and asked to speak to the supervisor because I actually wanted to talk to her, not just listen to a voicemail that explained my contract. The person said that the supervisor already addressed the situation and she would not be able to submit another request.

She then put me on hold and when she came back she said that the delivery company reported the delivery refusal and I was now charged with $256 for restocking fees. I told her that there is no way I am paying that because I didn't refuse it, I just wanted to speak to a rep first to clarify my options. I discussed my concerns for about 30 minutes and eventually said that obviously she couldn't help me and that I need to be transferred to someone that can or a supervisor. She transferred me to the customer service department which was another 30+ minute hold. The rep that answered was very understanding and she tried to talk to her supervisor team, the escalation department but they said that my concerns could only be helped by the appliance supervisor department. So she had to transfer me back to the original department I was first speaking to for another long wait time.

The rep that answered, I am pretty sure was the same rep that I first talked to, had the same response of course, that according to my contract I was responsible for paying $256 for the restocking fee. I continued to address my concerns saying that I shouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket considering I had a fully working oven before their tech came and broke it during a repair on a switch. All she did was repeat the contract terms and said I am the one responsible and will have to pay it, AHS will not pay it. I asked how can she speak for the entire company and just because it is in the contract that it would be my responsibility to pay for it, that maybe someone higher up cares about customer satisfaction and about the series of unfortunate circumstances presented through this process.

That maybe that person is willing to say that AHS or the contractors will assume responsibility for the charges, although that is not in the contract. Because as it stands, I now have a broken oven, which wasn't the case at the start of the process, and I am supposed be liable for all the charges, even though this all possibly could have been avoided or resolved if a couple things happened. 1. The delivery people communicated that they were going to leave and report that I was refusing it. 2. The wait time wasn't reasonable so the delivery people didn't have to leave. 3. My oven didn't get broken during the repair process. The rep just restated the contract so I told her I want to speak to a supervisor and she said my issue was already addressed. I told her that I have a new issue regarding this phone call with her.

She continued to deny me the ability to speak to a supervisor and said that if I had no further concerns that she will now be ending the call, and she hung up. I called back to speak to customer service and explained the whole situation over again and said I just want to speak to any supervisor, I don't care what department, etc. She said she would put in a request to speak to the customer service supervisor and it may take 24-48 hours. it has now been 3 or 4 days and no response. I don't understand how it is so hard to try to get into contact with someone that cares about the company and customer service more than a contract. I'm not just trying to complain to not have to pay the fee because I don't want to accept fault. I feel there has been multiple faults presented through this process and AHS should pick up some of the responsibility.

I am not against paying partial fees or trying to work with them in some way. It is frustrating when all representatives do is repeat the black and white lines of a contract as if customer loyalty/satisfaction and circumstances presented during the process doesn't play a role at all. And if at the end of the day, when I reach the highest person In charge that I possibly can, when they stand by that contract and don't feel they should assume any responsibility, fine I will pay the fees, but I will absolutely never continue any form of business with them following my contract expiration and I share my experience/dissatisfaction with others.

So I understand that, under normal circumstances, if an appliance was broken, under wear and tear or by myself, and AHS offered to replace it, I would agree to a replacement and I would then be responsible for any modifications or returns if it did not work. I also understand that is still the case in my situation and that it was briefly understood when I agreed on the model to be delivered. I just wish someone would address this situation more deeply and in a customer satisfaction standpoint since there were multiple layers of issues presented.

In this situation, the oven/stove worked fine, other than one sensitive switch, and the technician contracted to repair it then completely broke my appliance during their repair. At that point if any extra fees should occur, I believe that all/most should fall back on AHS or the contracted company, since I had a functional appliance before they broke it. Either way I measured it the best that I could to determine if it would work, but without pulling it out and disassembling some stuff it would not have been possible to compare and determine fitment based off a brochure that shows specs.

I feel like if they are going to replace an item they should probably have a technician come out and confirm fitment, not the consumer. Either way it seems that I am now supposed to be stuck with a broken appliance (again, that worked before their tech "repaired" it) because I am unable to pay for fees that could have been resolved/avoided and AHS doesn't want to assume any responsibility, just because of the black-and-white lines of a contract.

Past experiences - Had an issue with a few leaking pipes and a clogged drain. The technician came out pretty quickly and fixed all of the leaks. For the shower drain he said he saw traces of grout at the start of the drain and believed when the bathroom was remodeled the people just flushed the grout down the drain and clogged it. He tried to use a little metal line to see if it would help but was unsuccessful. He reported it to AHS and they said that was not covered since it wasn't normal wear and tear. I ordered a snake camera online and found that there was very little traces of grout but mostly sand and other stuff. I spent about 2 hours with a shop vac and a line and got it completely clear. The tech had no true confirmation of what the blockage was from but just assumed what it was and resulted in no coverage. The tech was nice and overall I would rate this experience 3/5.

My first real issue was that my heat was not working. The tech came out pretty fast. Found that the wiring of the thermostat was wired for a heat pump so it was turning on the ac unit with the main unit. He rewired it and said he checked the heat strips and said everything was working. Well after he left I felt the air coming out of the vent and it was still cool, not even warm. So I called the repair company and told them it is not working still. He had just left 15 minutes ago and they said they can reschedule for the following week. I had already waited a few days for him to come out and I was a little frustrated but they still wouldn't be able to get him back that day or the following and they suggested that the system needed time to warm up. Well after 3 hours of the heat being on, my house dropped 1 degree. So I called AHS and they said I had to deal with the repair company.

So I scheduled the next available appointment and he came out and said everything is fine. I asked why my house is not heating up and he said because the heat strip I have is 7.5kw and I need at least 10 or 15 I think. I told him that even if it is small it should still blow some heat and probably slowly heat the house, that most likely the heat strip is not operating correctly. He said his multimeter readings show it is all working right and he left. I loosened the top of heat strip so I could see it and watched it after I turned the system on. The very end of it was getting warm then constantly shutting off. I looked at videos on how it is supposed to work and the whole thing is supposed to get hot, like glow slightly orange. In complete darkness I could not see any glow or feel any radiating heat from it. I found the same replacement heat strip online for $30 and fixed it myself and it worked 100 times better.

**Overall the experience I have had with the repairs I have needed have been pretty poor/fair. Most of the technicians are decent, other than the HVAC experience. This current issue with the range stove is really pushing my patience with this company and would never consider continuing service with them, recommending them to anyone else, or using them for any future home buying/selling.

I have even contacted the realtor that I used for buying my current home, as she recommended this company when we purchased this home. I have told her about this experience and expressed my thoughts on recommending an alternative company to future clients of hers. For now I will wait to see what happens with this current issue and hope they do not try to charge me entirely for the extra fees or leave me responsible for additional costs to install the current item. An additional comment is also that their wait time to talk to a representative is always terrible. I think the average time I wait is about 45 minutes.**

I had an issue with a main line stoppage at my home and a problem with a running bathtub faucet. AHS sent out Shorts Plumbing who circled the home one time, shoved their cell phone in my face about a contractual problem regarding if they could not locate sewer outlet, and then proceeded to tell AHS that my shower handle was broken "due to excessive force," which was not true since I have never forced the faucet and secondly that particular bathtub was seldom used. This voided my warranty on the faucet. Shorts then proceeded to inform me they would come back, though, themselves and fix the sewer problem for $700 and the faucet problem for $400! And left. I had to call an outside plumber and pay $200 to have problems resolved.

The final insult was to be charged by AHS $81.19 for this JOKE of a service call. So, not only did I have to find an outside plumber and pay $200 but also had to pay $81.19 for these jokesters who did NOTHING!!! I am FURIOUS. There are, I understand, several other home warranty companies out there with much better track records and I intend to check them out. Choice Warranty, for one. I would not recommend American Home Shield to anyone in the future. They had been pretty good in the past but apparently things have changed in the company, and to its detriment.

I had an issue with my icemaker and dishwasher and submitting the claim online with American Home Shield was quick and efficient. Their website was very user-friendly. It was my first time to ever use it, so I didn’t really know what to expect but I got a good response. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of submitting it and getting the contractor to come out and resolve the situation with the appliances. The contractor had given me a phone call saying when to expect them, and they let me know when they were only 10 minutes out. Both times, they were very professional and courteous and I was also pleasantly surprised with the service. He repaired the ice box. And then I told him about the dishwasher. And he said I needed a new motor and they needed to order that.

It took a little bit of time to get the part in for the dishwasher. And I was wondering what had been happening because they never gave me an update on it. But I called back and they told me the part was on back-order. I just wanted to make sure they hadn’t forgotten about me, but once they got the part, they came in and resolved it. And everything’s working fine. I’m glad that they were able to come in and take care of it. I was satisfied. I share my experience with Home Shield to others. As a homeowner, it's a good thing to have and it’s affordable and easy to use. And for my money, I’m gonna stick with Home Shield. It's a good deal and protection. On May 9, I contacted American Home Shield regarding our downstairs air unit not working. It would not work and the temperatures that week were 85-95 degrees. On May 12, a technician from Piedmont Mechanical came out and said it needed a new compressor, it would take 3 days to come in and by the way, he told us he heard a noise coming from our 2nd air unit which cools the upstairs, and suggested we put in a second work order for that repair. He said he could not look at it without a second work order. I even offered to pay him or AHS over the phone so he wouldn’t have to make a second trip, or common sense, order the parts for both units at the same time. He refused.

On May 14, we called in the second work order and it’s now May 19 and still no word from AHS or Piedmont Mechanical on when the part will be in for the first unit and no inspection has been done on the second air unit. We have called AHS 2 times and Piedmont Mechanical 2 times as well as sent emails asking for updates. If parts were going to take this long, why not replace the unit — they are 17 years old or at least give us a temporary unit due to the hot temperatures. My daughter got sick with allergies/sinus issues and I emailed AHS as well as Piedmont to ask what other options we had and if there was another solution, and I have yet to hear back from either company. I have had the home warranty over 3 years, I have been on time with my monthly payment, and this is our first claim. I would like resolution from AHS immediately.

American Home Shield is far superior to any other warranty company that I had dealt with. They are a lot faster and much more pleasant to deal with. I switched to AHS and I haven't had a single problem since. When there was a problem with the kickstart on my AC, I submitted my claim online then I got an email stating AHS found somebody. It was really easy. They sent me a text message and everything. And the contractor who came was great. He knew exactly what was wrong and fixed it in three minutes. He knew what he was talking about and was really nice. He even a joke with my daughter and waved goodbye to her. Since the repair, I've had no issues.

Getting AHS is the smart thing to do and people should do it. Aside from that, the mere fact of how easy it is to get help through them is the biggest winner along with how fast that their technicians are assigned and come out. With other companies, they make you wait three days for someone to pick up the job and it's another 48 hours before they even contact you to make an appointment. And when your AC's out, you don't have that long. American Home Shield has somebody out here in 24 hours.

I’ve had American Home Shield since I bought the house about 20 years ago and having it gives me peace of mind. For whatever cost a month and then with some of the stuff that I can’t do myself, it makes sense to have it. And I stayed with them because of the air conditioners. We'll never know it can go out tomorrow and we’re coming into summer so they’re gonna be working hard.

Last year I had some AC problems and their contractor came out a number of times. And then this year the AC didn’t come on so they finally put a compressor in one unit. They also fixed a leak in the other. And since they were out so much last year we’re on a first name basis. I request the same company and they’ve been doing good. I'm in Dallas and for the last couple of months we went from putting the heater on, then the air-conditioner on, the heater again, and then the air conditioner on. So when it came time to put the heater on, one heater didn’t work and they came out and fixed it. And I said, “Hey, I hope I don’t see you for a while.” Well, few days later it’s time to put the AC on and then that’s when the one unit didn’t come on. And I thought, “Man, I spoke too soon.”

Whenever I need to submit a claim with AHS, I do it over the phone so I can speak with somebody and sometimes it’s easy, sometimes I hold for a bit. But lately it’s been better. And dealing with their reps has been a good experience too. I’ve occasionally checked out different companies and they’re all about the same, though American Home Shield might be a step above. The pricing seems to keep going up, but then so does everything else.

AHS was there when I needed it. There was a leak underneath the sink and I had tried tightening everything. I called AHS and they set something up the next day. As it turned out, I canceled it because it had gotten to be so late and I had a commitment in the evening. They canceled that right off and rescheduled it. The reps were good, very polite, efficient and didn’t take long at all. The plumbing person was here literally two minutes. He came and just cranked it again and it hasn't leaked since.

I've enjoyed having a home warranty because it really gives me peace of mind. When I submitted an air conditioning claim with AHS, they were very busy and I couldn't get a person to come out. So I had to call them about it and the tech came out fast after that. He was great and he communicated with me what was happening. I had him before at my house and I was appreciative that he came back. He was a good person and it was a good company to work for, too. So far, I've referred three people to American Home Shield. My experience with them was fine, but most of the times lately, I have to call instead of having to deal with my claim online because I couldn't ask for certain things online like not sending some companies that I didn't want at my house anymore. So, I wish that I could refer certain companies online instead of just getting whoever they randomly picked.

The dishwasher was broken. It needed some work and it has been fixed. I submitted the claim online which was very convenient and I absolutely love it. I've been with American Home Shield for a long time now and they have always been great except for the house we have in Virginia. It was bad as they did not come out very often. But it has been working very well in Oklahoma. I used to call since we own the house and that was for 12 years. The technician would check out the issue and see what was wrong. Then if there was a part, they would call American Home Shield for authorization and then they would fix it. Also, there was one time when they had to replace the appliance.

We had a leak going on in the toilet. I went online and put an order request in through American Home Shield and their website was easy to navigate. They then assigned me Gaithersburg Plumbing. The representative came out on time, did a good job of fixing the leak, and I paid $125 per incident charged for coming out. So all in all, it was a good experience. With American Home Shield, usually the contractor will reach out early on the next day and a lot of times, these contractors really want to do the best they can because obviously, having a contract with American Home Shield is very advantageous as they do lots of contracts. However, my gripe with American Home Shield is that they automatically assign you a provider for the service.

Now in most instances, that’s not an issue but there was one time where I had a microwave issue and the group they assigned to that was far away. And they never showed up. They called me the next time and asked if I wanted to set up another appointment but they weren’t able to accommodate a weekend. It was a horrible experience. So the next time they were assigned to me, I wanted to switch to a different vendor but there were no means to do that. I also tried to cancel the order with them online and kept trying to get somebody different but they kept assigning me the same group over and over again. In the end, I abandoned AHS for that work and just did it independently. I bought myself a new microwave and paid the contractor to install it instead of dealing with them because it was such a poor experience.

It’s also extremely difficult to get on a phone line with AHS. There’s gonna be a half-hour wait on the phone then sometimes, even after a half-hour, nobody ever picks up. A company that big should have a call center ready where you can talk to them about what happened. Also, they do most of their stuff by email but that doesn't work if there’s a problem.

The AC wasn't working. The temperature was staying about 82, and it didn't matter what we set it on the thermostat. I submitted a claim over the internet to American Home Shield, which was very easy. You go on the internet on your account. There's a menu there, and you go to the AC not working. And then, we got a message back giving us the vendor's name and stating that they would be calling within 24 hours. Then the vendor called and we set up an appointment. And then, they moved it up a couple of days when they had an opening. They always kept in touch with us. When the time for the appointment came, a guy called us about half an hour before. He said he was on the way. He was very effective, so communication was good. I don't know how they could have done it any better.

As a matter of fact, we were concerned because when we looked them up and looked at some of the reviews they had, they were fairly negative. But we had no problems with these guys. Since the repair, we haven't had any trouble since. We've been clients for about five years now and have used them twice a year. We find them cost-effective. Even when we pay $75 for a service call, we still come out ahead. We paid for a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a pool pump, and air leaks in the pool system. There's always something and it's part of maintaining a house, and they've been a great partner in doing that. American Home Shield has been very positive. I'm a Realtor and I push home warranties all the time. If the house is a little bit older and doesn't have all new stuff in it, I always tell my friends to get a warranty. There are other companies, but I haven't shopped because I didn't feel the need to.

Because of the cool weather, it wasn’t a real emergency. Still, they were very prompt in getting out there. They were out on Monday morning and were very professional. We needed to reload the air conditioner with Freon and the warranty only covers so much a pound so we just made up the difference. Aside from paying the expense of the Freon, we also paid our service fee with American Home Shield and we did that over the phone. Since the repair, the AC has been working real good.

I got a phone call the following day from the company, Lonestar, and they set up an appointment. 72 hours later, a contractor was at my house to fix the fridge. He was absolutely phenomenal. He explained everything he was doing, cleaned up after himself and made sure that there were no issues before he left. I would recommend him to anyone. Since the repair, the fridge has been good. We were having trouble with our toilet, sink and microwave. The toilet stopped and has to have a new sealer inside of it. I called and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. I put in the call for the plumbing and the appliances all together, and when the rep did the one for the microwave, it was incorrectly done. So I told her it was a combination, all-in-one and she marked it as two separate units and so I needed to call back again because otherwise, it wouldn’t have been covered.

The people who came out were an all-in-one. They were a plumbing, heating, and air company. However, the plumber didn’t really do anything with the toilet. He said it’s old and it needs to be replaced but he never mentioned if it’s covered under the warranty or not. He dumped some stuff in it and it wasn’t working as well. He also said if he needed to snake the sink, it’ll cost us an extra $200 out of our pocket. We had another appliance man come out and he was very thorough with me in talking about things that are covered and aren’t covered and how the whole system works.

Also, it would have been better if American Home Shield would give clearer information as to how the plan works because I was informed how it works by the appliance man. They said that the items may be covered but they may or may not be depending on the age and the severity so we’re thinking a home warranty covers the home and it’s funny now that it doesn’t.

There was another issue and he came back. He was very helpful and didn't just tell me what was broken, he walked me through what to look for in the future. There was also a smell that we were having. It was unrelated to the mechanical issue, but I asked him about that. And he told me what the problem could be. We took a look at it and although it wasn't the problem, he told me about other customers who had that problem and what they bought.

I filed my claim on the phone. The people are nice and easy to deal with but the wait can be long. Sometimes, you can call in and get right through and sometimes it can take half an hour to get somebody on the phone. They are certainly pushing folks to do stuff online. However, we've had some ongoing issues and if it's not straightforward, we need to have a private person come back to our house and we have to call anyways. We've used them a lot since we bought our home and have had one experience that was frustrating but 20 experiences that were good.

At one point, the heating had gone out and they were very slow about it. I was dissatisfied with how long it took for them to approve everything. It was almost two weeks before the contractor could come out and replace the water heater.

The contractor that was sent out by American Home Shield was fine. He was a nice kid and acted like he knew what he was doing. But he neglected to measure the bottom correctly like he should have, so when they replaced the water heater, they had to remove a separation board because the pan was too large. The water heater was in a compartment and they had to remove the whole side to put the pan in since it was was too big to fit in that little compartment. So, now we have to fix that and we still have to replace a board because they had to remove it completely. But other than that, the performance of the water heater has been okay.

I had to call AHS just to get a company to come to my house. The service guy just left and on top of the $100 Service Fee it was going to cost me an additional $300 - $400 to have me AC serviced with Freon. So this service call was $100 for the Service Fee, at least $300 to have my unit serviced with Freon, and then add in the $600 for the warranty - this company used to be solid - now if you need your AC serviced you better get ready to dig into your bank account because they charge you for the fee and then the company will charge $100 a pound for Freon. If only I had known this last month before I renewed my contract with AHS.

I had two faucets. One was leaking through the wall into the garage and the other one had water shooting out of it. I had to submit the claim on the phone because American Home Shield had no option online to explain what was going on. My interaction with American Home Shield's rep went very well but it was horrible with the tech who came out. He didn’t do anything. I turned off the water at the main div and he said that if we want to fix the faucet with water spewing from it, we have to break through the wall to take it out and American Home Shield doesn’t cover that so I'm screwed. For the other faucet, he cut a hole in the wall. The first one was a rock wall but the second one was a drywall. He looked at it and he said that he can’t see anything. He told me to just call American Home Shield and they’ll fix this. He left and that was it. But he still set out in his car for half an hour after he left.

I called American Home Shield and told them that they don't need to pay the contractor because he did absolutely nothing. Their rep asked me to call the company and find out directly what could be done to solve this. I called the company three times and each time the rep would say that the tech who came out will call me back. But, the tech never called me back. Finally, the rep said that she's tired of hearing from me so she gave me the tech’s number. I called the tech and he said that there’s a little thing that I can buy which I could screw on to the faucet and it will stop the problem because it has its own little control valve.

I went to Home Depot and Lowe's to see if I could get this and I had several people in both stores trying to figure out what the tech was talking about. They went through the whole plumbing department trying to help me. They finally said that they really don’t know what the tech was talking about. They said that if I can get the tech to give me the nomenclature, the specific name of the piece, then they might be able to help me.

I called the tech back and I told him that nobody knows what he's talking about. I asked for the specific nomenclature and he said that it’s on Amazon.com. I told him that it still doesn’t help me and asked him to give me the specific nomenclature. He said that he'll just order it for me so I asked when he'll get this done so I know when to expect him. And he said that he probably shouldn’t do that and that I need to order it myself. I told him to just give me the nomenclature and he said that he'll text it to me but I never heard a word from him.

I called back American Home Shield and I told them what happened. But I’m not gonna argue with somebody on the customer service line because they really can’t do anything. It just makes everybody upset and nobody gets anything done. This needs to be elevated to a supervisor level. Still, American Home Shield's people were nice on the phone. However, they just didn't get anything fixed.

When no one ever called me to set up an appointment, I called AHS again this morning and the rep I spoke to told me that she would try to find another agency. Every time I called and let AHS know that the issue hasn't been resolved, I was told that I had to wait 24 to 48 hours for a return call from the contractor. We had an electrician come out to fix a switch for our garbage disposal and everything went great. We called AHS, set up the service, and they had somebody out in a couple days. He was a good electrician and he got the work done quickly. The switch has been working fine since the repair and my wife and I are happy with it. All in all, AHS is worth the money and having the warranty beats having to pay hundreds of dollars for something that they can fix really quickly and at a cheap price. I recommend them to everybody I talk to.

I was happy because they helped me right away and I needed it right away. I'm glad I changed my home warranty provider to AHS. My previous one wasn't direct where I could understand. I'm old, so I needed clearer understanding and that's one thing I got from AHS. I'm trying to get my daughter to sign up with them now.

The pool suction wasn’t working well and the spa pump wasn’t pumping into the pool well either. At first the techs sent by AHS said they didn’t do spa pumps, but according to the lady we spoke with, it's covered because it’s attached to the pool, not a separate hot tub. It was Friday and they came back and worked on it on Monday. So over the weekend, I couldn’t run the pool because the spa motor was gone. I wasn’t here when the tech finished, so I had to call AHS and it took me three days to get a hold of the tech. He said he was going to call me back, but he didn’t. I said, “You just fixed this back together but I don’t know if I can run the pool. I don’t want to start it if I’m not supposed to.” He said, “Oh yeah. You can run it.” It wasn’t running for five days. It was hot, so we were building up algae and the chlorine wasn’t circulating.

There was a leak at the connection where the motor connects to, so I told AHS it had a leak and the tech came back. After he left, that same pump was making a weird noise. So I called AHS again in about two days to get a hold of him. I texted him because he wouldn’t answer my calls. I said, “It’s making this screeching noise.” I even reported it and sent it on the text. He called me back and said, “That’s the bearing on that pump. And that’s not covered but I can do it for you for $105.” But in the home inspection, it listed that thing as leaking, and it still is.

Over the years, AHS has generally been okay. They call to schedule within hours, and then we schedule it a couple of days ahead. One thing I didn’t notice then, because the techs have always fixed things in the past, is that this time, the tech was gone and there was no invoice saying that they were finished or what they did. But we had a plumbing issue around the same time and the guy came really soon, fixed it and left an invoice. So I knew what he fixed.

I have Monogram Appliances and AHS sends people out that are not Monogram-certified. I wait a couple of days for the people to come out but then they tell me that they can’t do anything. I then make another appointment with the people that can actually fix them. I’m just wasting time when I have to schedule the appointment and I have to wait again. And if I try to call AHS, it’s a never-ending hold. It takes forever for somebody to pick up. Nonetheless, the interactions I’ve had with the technicians sent out to my home have been fine. AHS has been timely and it’s nice to know that if something breaks, they can come and fix it, so it has been a good experience.

I don’t get it and when I asked them to explain it, they couldn't. They better clean it up because I have been paying a flat $75 when they come out and now it’s $81. If they can’t get me an answer, I’m gonna go to the Better Business Bureau and then to the FTC because they can’t charge me a tax on a check. He said something about the heat that's not going to the top and the tank not being hot enough. Also, somehow the wires on the calorifier got to be connected together and not hang out because they could light up and that’s not safe to do it that way. When he was trying to see the problem, he said that on the inside, the tank ain’t no good. He said he was gonna have to order another tank because that tank cannot be fixed.

When my dishwasher and my microwave went out, I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online. From then, it took about three weeks for the technician to come out. The experience wasn't bad but the whole thing could have been improved. The technician brought a circuit card out for the dishwasher and about a month later he came back and installed the circuit card. If they could have just done everything at once, it would have helped out a lot. But it was like a step-by-step procedure even though the same person came out each time, which indicated to me that he could have done it the first time.

It didn’t make any sense to me. I saw him standing right here and I saw him take a part out. It took him 15 seconds to take it out so it would have taken five minutes to put it back in. As for the microwave, it was too old and they didn’t make it anymore so I had to order a new one. American Home Shield gave me the money for that in about a month, and I ended up getting a smaller, cheaper one but it works.

My oven was overheating. I would set it for 375 and it would almost lock me out, and it’d be so hot you couldn’t touch it and would burn up everything. It was a fire hazard, so we had to stop using the oven. And so after the contractors, that American Home Shield sent out, came, they had to order the part and then they came back. The overheating was an intermittent problem and since the repair, the oven has stayed where I set it, so it’s a good thing.

I never had an issue with anybody that AHS sent here. They were always respectful of the house and they came in and did what they had to do and they left. But when they come out, they don’t know what part is needed and you have to wait on it, which is an inconvenience. They should have more parts on the truck so that they could take care of the issue on their first visit. Other than that, they’ve never been unprofessional or nasty. We've had AHS for a while now and I recommend them. I like them a lot because I've had some other awful warranties that I've gotten rid of.

I love American Home Shield. I’ve never had an issue getting somebody out to fix anything and I continue to renew my contract. I submit a claim online and it’s easy. I always get a callback immediately from whatever vendor they assign or put it out to. My most recent issue was with my dishwasher. It was continuing to refill with water and then overflowing on to my floor. The guy that came out was just nice as he could be, took care of it quickly and was able to do it the first visit, which isn’t always the case sometimes. In the past the contractors have sometimes had to come out, look at it, order a part and then come back. But the guy didn’t have to do that. Also, I never had an issue with something not working after the contractors repair my appliances. It’s always been very well done.

It would be helpful if when you submit the claim AHS finds out a little something that’s going on with it. Because sometimes the contractors won’t have a part on their truck just because they don’t even know what the issue is. Getting a little more information about what's going on might make it a little more efficient on the process, not just what appliance it is.

But, AHS policy is they order the part (which they did not order until a day later) and ship to the service company with a 5-10 day policy for shipment which I didn't know until now. It's 95 degree outside and upstairs is not usable due to the heat. AHS will only give me an estimated delivery of the compressor, not an actual date. This should not take a week to repair, I am sure in the 4th largest city in the US the compressor is available next day, not a week or more. AHS this is not acceptable customer service. Called American Home Shield numerous times and they continuously say that they will have a supervisor call us back. Supervisor never calls. Call wait times in excess of 45 minutes. Staff is not familiar with issue each time. Climate changed and now warmer weather - no air conditioning. Just learned, United Air Temp did not provide a diagnosis to American Home Shield. They were only interested in replacing the unit for $7,500 - paid directly to them. If United Air Temp provided a diagnosis to AHS, we could have examined next steps for repair/replacement.

We have not had heat or air from this unit for over 2 months and United Air Temp refuses to send a diagnosis to American Home Shield. American Home Shield taking no responsibility for service calls that have not amounted to a working unit. American Home Shield has offered a second opinion opportunity for another service fee, when in reality we should be reimbursed for the first call. WE DO NOT HAVE A WORKING UNIT. No air - room temps now in the 80s. AHS is suggesting that United Air Temp return and provide a diagnosis. United Air Temp is refusing to come out unless we want to purchase a new unit from them. United Air Temp was paid a $125 fee by American Home Shield for a prospective consumer and American Home Shield has not assisted us with the repair/replacement.

My issue is that it is still going to cost me $2000 for Freon and modifications. I am very frustrated with this. I did not know modifications were not covered, even though that is in the contract. I am not an expert to know what an AC repair modification could be or should be. Bottom line I did not get a warranty to still have to pay $2,000 for repair. The AC wasn't cooling in my home and it didn't seem like the compressor was kicking on. So, I submitted a claim to the American Home Shield website which was fairly simple to do. It was very well organized and it was easy to find the sections that you need to go to. Then, I had a technician scheduled within 48 hours of submitting the claim because I got it submitted on a weekend and all the AC shops were closed around me.

When the technician came out, he repaired a small leak in the AC, added a couple of pounds of Freon, and adjusted some lines inside that were loose and rattling on the condenser coil. He was very professional. He arrived on time and as scheduled based on the window that he gave me. He was also very polite and explained exactly what he was doing as he was repairing the unit and how long he was planning on being here to complete that repair. Then, he took my payment information for both the service fee for American Home Shield as well as the prorated amount for the Freon that was charged. American Home Shield pays $10 per pound, so I paid the difference based on what he was needing to put in the system. All in all, it was really easy to take care of everything.

There are a lot of online reviews that are either mixed negative or good about the warranties for home warranties. But this is the first claim that I ever had to file with a home warranty and it was very seamless and simple to do and I got my issue taken care of. Having a home warranty also saved me quite a bit of money with because I only wound up spending a few hundred on the Freon versus the $500 that I would have paid out of pocket for the repairs that were needed. So, the warranty essentially paid for itself already.

They were unable to repair it so they had replaced the unit. However, American Home Shield refused to cover the replacement of the garbage disposal and they also charged me the service call. I demanded that they not charge me the $75 service call or take that off of the $329 that I had to pay the guys to replace the garbage disposal, but they would not do that.

And then right now, I have a claim for the ice maker. The fellow came out last week and determined that there is a frozen line, which is impeding the production of ice and he needed to order the part. He said he would call me when he has the part. My refrigerator also has a filter in it that filters the water and the refrigerator tells when the filter needs to be replaced. He insisted that when he comes back and I did not have any filter there then he would not do the work. So, I ordered the filters on Amazon, and they're quite expensive. We have the type that has the freezer on the side and the water and ice cubes on the door and it wasn't working. I called American Home Shield and the representative was very helpful. Within 24 to 48 hours, we had set up an appointment for someone to come out.

I asked the contractors about what were they doing and they seemed very helpful. They answered my question, so for the most part, we had good communication. They said it would be too much to fix the microwave so we bought it. They sent some recommendations to us and we ordered and upgraded. And for the refrigerator, they said that they could fix it and the technician said they were gonna replace the refrigerator door.

But when people come, they don't give any kind of paper work. The last man that came gave me paperwork, but the person that came prior to that didn't have any paperwork as to what they did. I like to keep track of what I have done to things around the house. When my kids asked me, "What did the person do?", I said, "He came out and did something for the toilet." But if I had some paperwork, I can show them. I would think that the people who come out to do the work would give me a work order that something was done.

Nevertheless, it is a good thing that we found out about AHS. They charge you a fee every time somebody comes but if they have to do some work, a lot of people just deduct that or add that to whatever you have to have done. Also, being able to pay a monthly charge is a great thing. I had to get our air conditioning unit down in my basement and I paid $4,000. But if I had had AHS, they would have fixed it. And if they couldn't fix it, then they'd replace it.

The contractor that was sent out to fix the washing machine was very friendly and professional, and the washing machine has worked perfect since the repair. On the other hand, I had some prior claims through Lone Star Plumbing and I couldn’t really say good things about them. The issue with Lone Star Plumbing wasn’t really resolved. I feel like I was told several different things by them and they were a little dishonest.

My water heater was leaking from around the pressure vent. I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield and their website was really easy to use. Doing it online is also cost-effective against doing it on the phone. The water heater technician who came out was very fast, pleasant, and professional. He attempted to fix it once, but the issue continued, so I called them. They had very professional people on the phone and when the tech came back, he determined that the water heater was ineffective and that it was supposed to be replaced. He talked to American Home Shield then they called me the next morning and explained to me my financial responsibility towards the fixing of the water heater. We went from there and he replaced it within three days. Since the replacement, there have been no leaks and it improved the use of the water heater.

The first time I called American Home Shield for a stuffed up line, they sent a guy out from Genius Plumbing. He looked around the house, couldn't find a clean out and said the only way to do it is to go on the roof or knock out a wall to one of the up vents and put in a clean out. But it would cost $380 to do that. I, however, didn't think I would need to spend that kind of money just to do a clean out. So he said, "Let me go check on something and I'll be right back." He went to his truck and next thing I knew, he was gone. He didn't even say he was leaving or let me sign anything. I told AHS about it. They said that they were sorry and they did what they were supposed to do but I still had to be charged $75 fee for the service when I didn't get any. I was very upset.

I then did the work myself and got the access to the downsized pipe for the drain clean out in it in the laundry room. I opened the wall up, made it, and then repaired the wall. It took me about an hour and about $30 worth of materials to do it. I then called American Home Shield and told them I needed the work done. They sent the same company out but a different guy, and this time, there was no charge. Fifteen minutes later, it was done. It's all taken care of and I'm happy with it now.

I submitted three claims to American Home Shield all at the same time and initially, it was not a problem but after I called them up because nothing was dealt with, I found out later that all but one of them was cancelled. The people were friendly and dealing with them was fine. But mostly, the problem was around the strategy for picking vendors to come in and fix the equipment. One time, it went all the way back to the person that they said don't fix that kind of thing. So, it went all the way around three or four people to work out there. The contractor who fixed the appliance was friendly and courteous. He got in, found the problem very quickly, got the part ordered and came in to fix it immediately. He always kept in contact too, which was good. Since the repair, the item has been working fine.

With the other two claims, we got one certainly to go through. They had the guy come out and try to fix it and he diagnosed the problem. The board was bad and apparently, the replacement board was bad too. So now, they have to go for a rebuild. I wanted the thing fixed but they kept offering a cash-out which doesn't replace the item. If you're gonna cash it out, then cash it out with the money it takes to replace the item, not with what it cost for the board. Their replacement process is not working right and it's not where I would like it to be. They also need to understand that for guys like myself, we're dealing with this kind of stuff, their wives are at home. When we get home, they're not happy and it just makes it double the compound problem.

My heating unit is old and Dawson Services, which American Home Shield sent, has been out about three times in reference to wires burned up. I like their service people. They got the problem fixed. There were some things that were unavoidable and we didn’t see, so they had to come back a couple of times on recalls. Then my AC unit went out. It was the electric heat pump and it was all one big unit. I called them out and they were telling me that the whole unit has burned up. This has been going on for about 10 to 14 days now. Dawson’s Electric was supposed to contact American Home Shield and call me back. I have called them about eight times and left messages every single time. I called them again today, but I got no answer and no calls back. I was calling American Home Shield because I'm not happy with any of that.

Submitting a claim with American Home Shield has been great, but this is the first time I've ever had an episode. I understand Dawson is getting tired of that kind of stuff, but it's no excuse for somebody to call me back in reference to what they're gonna do with my unit. I’ve been dealing with them for 10 to 14 days now, and it's either they come fix it or replace it. They won't even call me and say, “Hey, this is what we've got.” I worked in the plumbing industry for years with American Home Shield and my father owned two companies so I understand how the whole system works and this is abnormal. Other than that when I've had plumbing problems American Home Shield has done a good job on getting a service guy out there. I would recommend them.

Our realtor assured us that AHS is the very best home warranty company available and anything we found to be in non-working order would be fixed by AHS. Well, we haven't had that experience. It seems that everything in the house was either in horrible shape and needed fixed or they needed to be replaced. AHS has come up with one excuse after another why nothing is covered! We paid an entire year's fee for the best plan available when we purchased our house, but that didn't matter. They still take our service fees and then tell us our problem is not covered. This company needs to be shut down!

I've spent months trying to get them to complete 2 simple repairs. In both cases, I'm onto my second contractor with them and in both cases, neither repair is complete. Again, it's been MONTHS.

There have been a dozen service calls for these 2 repairs and even though the repair can never seem to be completed for some reason or another (they don't have the part, they need a different part, they brought the wrong part, they have to get AHS approval, etc.) they still charge me $125 per visit - EVEN when nothing is actually done. Yes, they've charged me for repairs that have NOT been completed. Then I have to call them, explain what happened, try to sort it all out and fight with them over the service charges - I'm currently disputing $500 worth of service charges they will not credit me for!

The most recent problem was a problem with the dishwasher leaking. It was going on for about a week, getting progressively worse. I submitted the claim over the phone and it took a little while to get through. I was on hold for a little while, but once I got through, it was really quick. They took all the information down and repeated it back to me to make sure they had it all right.

The contractor sent by AHS was great. He found the problem and fixed it. He ran the dishwasher through a few cycles, it was throwing out some other error codes and he ran all of those to ground and corrected them. He was really thorough and explained everything in great detail and easy to understand terms. Now the dishwasher's working fine. It has stopped leaking and is not leaving a puddle underneath it.

They never actually sent the part after 10 days and I had to call them to remind them to do their job. After the part arrived it did not do the trick and they ended up coming back out to find it needed another part.

My repair is in limbo now and 4 times I have called AHS, two of which I have sat on hold for over 30 minutes before their telephone system disconnected me. The other two times the person on the other end had no answers and said I need to speak with someone not there. I will absolutely never recommend them and would never do business with them again. The only thing they can do on time is collect money. We had a leaky water heater, so I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online. The online submission process was fine. The contractor arrived at the house and looked at the water heater. One of the connectors on the very top of it was leaking, so he replaced it. He said we would have some condensation, so we might have a bit of water because it was full up there, and to give it a couple of days. So, we did. The next morning, I got up and it was like a waterfall, a little more than a drip. I had a little cup I was scooping water out of the bottom tray because it’s in the garage and it sits on wood, I didn’t want that wood to rot. I went online and requested that he return. They called me to confirm appointments and to tell me the approximate time. The actual repair guy called me when he was getting close to the house and said that he’ll be here within 20 minutes.

He came back out and that’s when he determined it was more than just that one connector. I bailed water for about a week and then I got a phone call from American Home Shield telling me that they have approved everything and what my cost would be for it. Then, they called me and said they had the water heater and asked what was a good day to deliver. They called and said that it would be between 12:00 and 4:00. The repair guy called me when he was at his last stop getting ready to come to my house and he replaced the water heater and put the new one in. All is good at my house now.

I’ve been using American Home Shield for an extremely long time through at least two houses. This house is at least since 2004 and my previous house was seven years before that. Mostly, I submit my claims online and since they let me pay for it in advance, I’m really happy. The website is fairly simple and they have a “go right to it” button so, I use that. Usually, the contractor contacts us within the 24 hours that they say they’re going to and I have never had any of them go out of that. The dishwasher wasn’t heating up when it was supposed to during its heat cycle and when the contractor came to diagnose the problem, it was a pleasant interaction. The guy was nice and he even put on those little booties so he wouldn’t scratch the floor.

Usually, they show up and figure out what the problem is and then they get the parts ordered and then they come back. But Appliance Express, who was the last set of people who came, called us in advance to find out what the problem was, and they brought all the parts, which was really great. I like the way they handled it. They said it reduces callback and it only costs them a restocking fee sometimes because most of the time, they can use the parts elsewhere. The other guys were not bad and did what they had to do. I can understand it but it would be nice if more of them would contact us and ask us what’s wrong and possibly get the appliance numbers in advance. Mostly, I’ve been extremely happy with the service I get from AHS. They always send somebody who fix my problems and I move on. Also, the price is reasonable. I’m good with them. They are as reliable as what other people say and I have recommended them.

We've been using American Home Shield for about a month. Whenever I submitted a claim with them, they say, “Okay. We’ll be out,” And next thing, the contractors set a time and they show up. I’m satisfied with the work, the appointments, and the responsibility. The contractors have been out here two or three times on it but they’ve been very responsive. They get here on time and they’re a bunch of good guys. The only thing is for whatever reason they can’t figure out our refrigerator. Sometimes it dispenses water and sometimes it won’t. Sometimes it dispenses ice and sometimes it won’t. We’ve had the temperature set at 42 in because it freezes. Out of nowhere, it will freeze everything in there. And then the next day they will all fall out. It’s just totally inconsistent.

We still haven't got it figured out. The first time they came out, they thought it might be the whole left side of the refrigerator. The whole door disperses water and ice. And when they came back out, they came for another part, thinking it was something different. In and out, after they left, it quit dispersing water and ice. So, they came back out again. They adjusted the doors a little bit this time, that maybe the seals would be more of our problem and the seals might be tighter. But since then, it stopped working for a half a day yesterday and then this morning it’s working. They said that they’re coming back again and they’re not charging us for a reservice. That’s good. They charged us one time, the deductible $75 or whatever they call it. And since then, they have not charged us anything. They just keep coming back.

So, that one wasn’t as smooth as the simple pool PVC pipe fix.

We had a plumbing issue wherein it started leaking from the garbage disposal. I went online to submit the claim to AHS and we got a callback. We did it on a Friday and the contractor came out Monday. He introduced himself, came in, and checked the issue. He went back out to his truck then brought a new one in and replaced it. He fixed the issue within less than an hour. The service was great.

We had a kitchen light-fan replaced right over my stove and my wife submitted the claim to American Home Shield over the phone. She felt she had issues when we first got this started. The buck kept getting passed and dropped. The first technician that American Home Shield hired to come and check it out, Tom, said it was gonna be more feasible to put a new one in rather than trying to fix the old one. Right there, somebody dropped the ball and the light-fan didn't get ordered for another week. I called the technician but he had something else to do. I got back with AHS and it was like they lost what was going on.

It was a few days and my wife had to call AHS back a couple of times and finally, somebody picked it up. They found somebody else and finally got it ordered. The ones that came this time were really great and the technician knew what he was doing. He got busy and got the light-fan up in there. American Home Shield would probably save others money in the long run, though they may also have some experiences with it.

I called AHS and I had a little problem with the automated part, but they put me over to a real human, they immediately said who we would be dealing with and the techs came out. The only thing I would like to have is a new ID card because for some reason, AHS keep changing my customer number and I got them written at the back of the card. But other than that, I’ve always had a good response with AHS. They’ve always been the greatest because I had a few things that have happened. My refrigerator went out. Now, the dishwasher and my pool pump. I just had the hot water heater blow its bottom out and flooded the garage and we were without hot water for a few days. But everything seemed to be working fine now.

Besides the usual nasty people working at the company, this review is specific to a recent occurrence. Our original contract included coverage for the water softener in our home which I had confirmed in a chat with one of the employees at the company the day the policy was purchased. I called to put in a claim today and was told I did not choose the option to be covered for the water softener. I advised Claudia in customer service I had an email confirming in fact I was covered.

She then put me on a 10 minute hold. She came back on the phone and told me I had not chosen the option to be covered upon renewal. I asked her to send me proof that I was given the choice to purchase the option. She put me on a 10 minute hold. She came back on and said that the company stopped covering water softeners starting 01/2018 and that a letter was sent advising of such. I asked her to provide me a copy of the letter. She put on a 5 minute hold. She came back on the phone and advised me they had no copies of any letter or email to show me.

I don't write angry reviews and in fact I am still not angry, just very disappointed that these people get away with these things and I hope that other people will not be convinced into buying a plan with this company. It's not the matter they don't cover it anymore, it's a matter of changing their story 4 times and having no proof or evidence to provide that they ever notified us of a change in our plan even as we continue to pay. What would be next... A refrigerator not being covered, a well pump, dishwasher?? Basically they are asking us to pay and hope our claim will be covered in the future? Not good and very unprofessional.

Buyer beware of this warranty company. They use vague language in the contract to deny coverage. I had an evaporator coil for my ac unit that needed to be replaced. American Home Shield said my out of pocket cost was $1615.00! I did not understand what was being said because they said the cost of the new evaporator coil and installation was covered. To make a long story short and to the point after hours of waiting on hold with American Home Shield, THEY DON'T COVER IT. AHS cost was actually higher than if you get your any company with no home warranty and pay for it yourself. My cost with American Home Shield $1615. The cost of a different company I used was $1100.00! The difference is you don’t need to pay $75 for house call and whatever your ridiculous monthly or yearly premium is. Do not use American Home Shield, they are scamming people.

I recently made a service request to have my A/C unit looked at. AHS sent out a company who recommended that my 2.5 ton unit be replaced. I reached back out to AHS today because I had not heard from them as to the next steps. I find out that they are requesting a 2nd opinion on the diagnosis by one of their approved vendors. Apparently, they disagree with the diagnosis and want to send another company out...whom I suspect will give a bogus diagnosis. Not only have they not found another vendor yet, but now not only will I have to continue to deal with a broken A/C unit as it gets hotter outside but I will have to take additional time off work to be there whenever they decide to come. I'm really disappointed with AHS at this moment. However, I shouldn't be surprised based off of the reviews I have read thus far. They seem to pull stunts like this when there are big ticket items involved.

I subscribed to AHS two months ago. You are told that you cannot call a claim in until 30 days has past. I called a claim in about 45 days in and was promised a service person in 24-48 hours. I called the company repeatedly over three weeks and they could find no one. They told me I had to find someone and they would possibly reimburse me. I joined the service because I could not find anyone to work on my appliances in the first place so that was not a possibility. I called to cancel my policy multiple times and was put on hold literally for over 30 minutes each time.

I wanted a full reimbursement for the false advertising and breach of contract. I was told that they would cancel my service but I would not be reimbursed. The representative told me it was over 30 days so no refund... But you cannot call until 30 days has passed so how does that make any sense? I feel this is extremely unfair as it cost me over 140.00 for absolutely nothing. The customer service was extremely rude and unhelpful.

I've checked that Airtronics has the worst reviews in whole Houston since 2015 and many clients were asking AHS to find different supplier but apparently AHS doesn't care about quality and reliability of service providers.

I've called AHS Monday. After 50 minutes listening music and how important I am they said they cannot do anything. I also don't understand why I need to give contract number and ZIP when I call and repeat all when someone pickup the phone (?). Tuesday I called AHS again. On Saturday, May 12, 2018 I requested a service call for my central air. I contacted AHS to inquire about when I will be contacted by contractor and I was informed Monday, the 14th. I asked to speak to someone else to see about a quicker response time. I was on hold for one hour and 15 minutes. She was able to get someone out to my house on Sunday. Technician arrived, diagnosed the problem and said it would “maybe” be Wednesday before he could make the repair. Monday, the 14th, the technician calls me to ask that I take a photo of the information plate on the side of my unit, he forgot to get information when he was here on Sunday.

So I call the technician on Tuesday the 15th to see if he is going to be here on Wednesday, and to no surprise, it has now been pushed back to “maybe” Thursday. He stated that since he was late getting the information about my unit that it has been pushed back a day. I have contacted AHS again on the 15th, and talking to their customer service is one of the most infuriating experiences you can have. I asked to speak the escalation team member, and was told they were not in yet. The woman repeatedly spoke over me telling that they were doing everything by the guidelines. Apparently there are no guidelines for how long the contractor has to complete a job. I still have not been contacted by AHS to let me know what is going on with my service request. I would not recommend this company to anyone. All they care about is getting their monthly service fee. They in no way have demonstrated that they care about my comfort or convenience.

I emailed a work order on Sunday May 13th. I received a text at 11:15 on Monday from the company that was assigned to my order. They called me at approximately 3:15 to ask questions about the washer. I was told based on what I said the washer was doing it would be 3 to 5 business days for a part to be ordered and a week and 1/2 before they could get here to install it. I called AHS after being on hold for over 30 minutes and explaining to the representative that it was ridiculous to wait that long to get the washer repaired. I then ask if I could schedule the work and get reimbursed. After waiting on hold another 15 minutes I was told that was not possible and they had no other contractors who could come any sooner.

I then went to HomeAdvisor and quickly found a company with great reviews who will be at my home this morning and if a part is needed it should be here in a day or two and can be installed in a couple of days. I am completely disappointed in AHS handling of this situation and do not feel that someone should be expected to go almost 2 weeks without an appliance. We suspected a pipe leak. Contacted our home warranty American Home Shield, and they sent out Budget Rooters. The plumber said he couldn't duplicate the leak when turning on the upstairs bathtub (leak was in our kitchen ceiling below). Plumber does zero investigation for any other cause but assumes there is mold and can't do work until mold is removed. We pay out of pocket $900 for a mold company to cut a 3ft hole in our ceiling, only to find... ZERO MOLD. Plumber comes back out, still can't find a leak. Finally does a little more investigation and finds the tub spout has water flowing back into the valve, which caused the water to seep through our kitchen ceiling. He replaced a $7 tub spout and left us with a $1500 bill for non-existent mold and an unnecessary hole in our ceiling. We called AHS and after 3 calls, finally a supervisor called back. She informed us they don't cover mold and it's "not our problem".

YOUR COMPANY contracted with an inexperienced plumbing company who did Jack ** except turn on a faucet. He could've easily dug a little deeper that first visit, and avoid leaving us with $1500 in absolutely unnecessary repairs!! "Not our problem??" Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service from the supervisor. Even your rep gasped and said "oh no, that is crazy" when I called the first time. This is BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE we've ever had. I had an issue with my AC and my furnace just went off. I contacted AHS and they put in a new AC, furnace, and thermostat for me. But when I turned on the AC to see if it was working, it cooled off but it wouldn’t shut off and it wasn’t ticking on and off. I called the company that installed it but they said it was not under warranty and that I had to call my warranty company. They also told me that since I went through AHS, I had no coverage on it through them anymore. But if I bought it through them, I would have had $108.

So, I called AHS and their rep said that they would send someone else but I had to pay $75 again. When I told her that I just had it installed November of 2017, she said that I had no warranty through them after 30 days. And when, they came out and worked on the new AC, they asked me if I wanted them to take the service fee out of the account right away or wait 72 hours after the work was completed. I told her to wait until for the 72 hours. Then I got an email saying that I owed $75 for the service fee. I thought it was just a scam, so I decided not to reply to it and I didn’t do anything.

Then, I got a letter saying I had a past due of $75. But they were supposed to take it out of that account that I gave them. They always have. So, I called and got their supervisor on the phone. I told her that they got the account number right there and they have taken the $75 out of it after they installed my furnace and my AC. But she said that they didn’t take service fees out of there, just my monthly bill. Then, she wanted me to give her new information to set up a new account. But I refused as they already got my account online that they’ve always used. So, I was upset and I told her that I was tired of all of it. There were so many times that I had to keep calling them at Home Shield and it was like I had to jump through hoops.

So, I’ve been through a lot here lately with American Home Shield and I’m very frustrated. I also don’t appreciate getting a letter that I’m overdue on something when they’ve always used that same account that I supplied. And after pulling teeth, getting Freon for three years and paying $200 each time, I finally got a new furnace but had no warranty under it. So, I was very dissatisfied.

The plumber that was sent to me was not professional. They claimed the pressure on the water main was too high and they went in and replaced the pressure valve. But I called somebody who knows plumbing and I was told that when the so-called professionals measured the water pressure in the house, what they actually measured was the water pressure on the sprinklers. Also, plumber that was sent said they were not going to fix my problem because the pressure was too high when actually the pressure was okay. So, although they replaced the water pressure valve, they did not fix the actual problem that I called them for because they said that was not covered. And that was very bad for me because what I wanted was to fix the problem inside the house, not the water pressure and because of their unprofessional service, they claimed it was something else.

I spoke to the person in charge of guiding or authorizing the services from American Home Shield and they said that the contractor is right because they don’t cover dirt damage problems. So, American Home Shield was misguided by the plumbing company that was servicing them. The plumbers were two very young people and they were just finding excuses not to fix the problem. I tried to convince them that it was inside the house but they were looking for the outside valve instead. Nevertheless, the other services that I have had in the past through American Home Shield were good and I've been pretty happy with them.

The first time, it was the heater and I didn’t know what to do so I called them and the second time, the air conditioner was kicking off and on. There was no cool air coming in and it was just blowing hot air. The tech who came out spent an hour and a half at my house checking to see what the problem was. He found that there was a connection that had been fried in the unit upstairs so he fixed the connector and reattached it to where it was supposed to go on the board. He waited and checked to make sure to make sure cool air was coming into the house. He used his temperature gun to see if it coincided with the thermostat. Everything was good and I had no problem with him coming. They gave me a window when they were gonna be there and he arrived within that window.

When I submitted the claim, they called and I got a text message from them on the same day telling me who would be coming out to my residence to call them to make arrangements to work out a window when they could respond to my house. The company they sent was prompt in responding and I've had no issues or concerns about what they repaired. Everything's been working solid. AHS is reliable and they take care of your request and concerns. They’re concerned about getting somebody to your residence as quickly as possible to remedy whatever the situation is.

I submitted a claim online and it was easy. I find their website easy to navigate. The contractor who came was prompt and professional too. He got the job done and the AC came back on. I would recommend American Home Shield.

Considering the convenience of it, we do online submission whenever we have claims with American Home Shield. On our most recent claim for the air conditioning, they were responsive and we had a good experience. Their contractor came in and then we told them what the issue was. They evaluated it and resolved it in a timely manner. We find American Home Shield to be a great investment.

I had a stoppage in my pipe. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out. He sent a snake down my pipe and once he found tree roots, that voided my contract so I had to pay out of pocket. The other issue I had was my dishwasher that stopped working. The repair guy came out once or twice and then after that my dishwasher just completely crapped out and American Home Shield replaced it. So, that was pretty cool. Submitting a claim is pretty easy. Most of the time I just call them, tell them I need service, and they find a contractor. It takes a couple of days to get a contractor. And the contractor goes from there, and I just pay my $75 fee. Most of them were friendly. They knew what they were doing, and they didn’t leave my house a mess. I have had American Home Shield since I had my house, so it has been with us for over six years now. I'd recommend them.

The last claim I had with American Home Shield was for a water heater and the experience was all right. I was satisfied. The contractor that was sent out came from Tontitown. He was very good, really knowledgeable and really helpful. The technicians on site were the same. They were good and I would recommend them. This last experience was totally different from the ones prior.

In the past, American Home Shield had been extremely hard to deal with. We've had some air conditioner issues and all they wanna do was just put a band-aid on it and go. They really didn’t wanna fix and so we still have issues with the air conditioner. Our contract states they should take care of it, but they hadn’t wanted to proceed in that direction. They did the bare minimum. I understand their business and they gotta stay in business. It's not a money issue. It's more of an issue that we feel that they're obligated and that’s what it is. And I don’t know that it was American Home Shield or it was just the people that took care of it or it was a situation where that was all they could do. I would have to give it some thought before I'd recommend American Home Shield. I'd tell others to maybe shop around a little.

I don't think they even know what's wrong. They just said that it's the motor that's making the noise and as long as it's working, they won't fix it. Also, I have a 50-gallon water heater in the attic that is rusting inside and out. The contractor AHS sent out said that it needs to be replaced but AHS will not do it because it's still functioning. But AHS replaced my cooktop because it had things that weren't working on it and it was old enough that they couldn't get parts. My garage door opener was also covered and I had that repaired a month ago, and the guy who came was really good.

The contractor who came out started to check and he said that the sensor board has shorted. He told me that it happens all the time, but I insisted that the manual said a clogged line. He told me then that he tripped it and had seen the board. He ordered another sensor board, and it took about seven business days. He came back and put it in. Ever since then, everything has been running good. The contractor was great. He gave me an advice because I thought he couldn’t fix it. I asked him about Bosch and he mentioned some others. He told me that I can get one, but he said too that everything has had problems with the sensor board. Overall, AHS has been great and it has been a stress-free experience.

Issue with microwave - The only good portion of the experience has been the initial scheduling of the service call as the operator was very friendly and quick. The person who scheduled the service call said the tech would call before they arrived, they did not. Next the Tech said they needed to order parts, no issue there. After 3 days of not hearing anything I called American Home Shield to get an update. They couldn't give me any info, 3 more days go by and I call American Home Shield again. The lady I spoke to said that when the parts arrive the Tech would call me.

I go around American Home Shield and call the Service company directly and they tell me the parts are going to be shipped to my home but they haven't shipped yet and a service call has been placed for 2 days from now. It's also my responsibility to call them back if the parts don't arrive to reschedule??? The American Home Shield website says it has "chat". It hasn't been available once and they have no email address listed on the Contact Us site.

Updated on 07/10/2018: Going on 2 months without an installed and working Microwave. AHS has still not rectified my previous issues. After the repairman blew up my microwave that AHS chose to fix it they had no choice but to buy another one. The new one is 1 inch taller than the previous one. This is the microwave that AHS chose not me. AHS wont pay to finish the installation, they wont substitute it with one that will without charging me a $100 restocking fee for the microwave they chose. The person I spoke to said they dont actually check to see if it fits. They just base it on features.

I was an AHS customer for eleven years, twenty two if you count the fact that I had two eleven year contracts at the same time for two different properties. It was ups and downs during that time. It was always a hassle dealing with them, it would frequently take multiple calls with horrible wait times to get something fixed. I was without a working oven and stove October through January, have been without a washing machine for weeks many times but have stuck with them because I felt I at least broke even. But that has changed. I just canceled both contracts. They are no longer covering what they used to and are charging extra fees left and right. But the biggest problem is the way they deal with service providers.

I have only had problems with appliance repair, everything else has been a mixed bag but you stand a decent chance of getting a good company. In our city, Las Vegas, there is one family or group that has many different appliance repair companies under different names. At one time I had 4 companies blocked from coming to my house because they were so incompetent and in one situation actually threatening. But because they change company names so much, they just kept coming back. I had an issue with my washer, they sent out one company that was the same people, different company name, I asked for a second opinion, they sent out a different company in name... but same people! Even though the technician said that the issue was a poorly installed part to us, he told AHS something else. I do not have time for this complete and total lack of customer service? Do you?

We are having issues with our original AC unit from the late 1980s/early 1990s. The air handler leaked and it needs to be replaced ASAP and we will need to replace over 8 pounds of Freon that was lost into the environment (cost of Freon only is $1140). Our condenser is old and currently shows no sign of needing repairs or replacement. So we did our research on what is best to do in this situation. We had two HVAC professionals review our situation and their conclusion was to upgrade to a new unit ($3000). They believe that our condenser will only last for 6 months to a few years. Upgrading to a new unit is what they professionally recommend because a new condenser will have the newer type of Freon in it and the 8 pounds we will replace in the old unit will be thrown out upon upgrading.

Our system is past its expected lifespan and needs to be replaced especially due to this situation. One of the professionals stated that he used to work for companies like AHS and had to quit due to the lack of understanding of these type of situations. He looks at what is best for all - company, customer and environment. After researching online, there is evidence that Freon is one of the most significant environmental pollutants and caused serious health risks to humans. This situation has put me in a moral dilemma with AHS and their lack of compassion and understanding the damage that Freon does to our environment. I believe this company is only about the bottom line and not about doing what is right for humans and our environment.

After further thought, I asked if they would split the cost of a new condenser. This would limit the amount of Freon to be used and hopefully this will lead to less of an environmental damage. Our children's future is more important than money. Currently, we only need to pay $1140 for Freon, we are offering to pay $1500 for a new system (that is not needed at this time). If the system would break in 6 months - AHS would have to cover $3000. The AHS representative stated that is not in the contract and they only follow what the contract states. I felt like this employee only knew how to read off of a script and could not do what she felt was right.

I believe AHS does not support the decision making skills of their employees, lacks compassion and understanding for their customers who want to do what's best for the environment. AHS only cares about the bottom line -money. After almost 2 hours on the phone (over an hour of waiting) trying to resolve this situation I got nothing. Is $1500 or $3000 worth the effects of Freon? I think not! Guess we will be looking for a new company come renewal time. Anyone have suggestions?

I made another claim for the electrical outlet in the kitchen that wasn't working. This house was purchased from somebody else and there was a GFI inside a cabinet, which nobody saw.

We had other electricians come in and they said that they had to put a new GFI in or remove some of the Sheetrock to see where the lines were going. But the technician who came through American Home Shield figured out that there was a GFI somewhere in here, which was the system's problem. There was a lot of inconvenience because of those issues and AHS helped. So far, AHS has been great and the technicians were on time and did an efficient job most of the time. I have pictures of when the air conditioner guy came out here and showing that I paid and how much it cost. I’ll give AHS a call and tell them what’s been going on. And if anybody has an email address, I can send them all the information that I have with me.

I filed claims with Home Shield for our water heater and a stoppage in the plumbing. I have typically submitted my claims by phone and have had good experience with the reps. They sent a guy for the water heater and it didn't need just to be replaced but he said it had to be brought up too. I know a little bit about what the code was more than he does, and he just needed to get it off the ground. And he was looking to charge $600 and something more just to do that. I called Home Shield back and they agreed to just pay me because I got it done right at what they were paying. But that was over a month ago and I’ve never seen my money from Home Shield. At first, they told me it would take about four weeks. And when I called, it’s been over four weeks. I went ahead and paid it. The drainage is working half as good as it needs to be. There’s still a problem somewhere. But overall, I had a pleasant experience.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield when my fridge wasn't working and the assistant was very polite, friendly and timely. She directed me straight to the point what I have to do and how I have to do it. Then they sent out the technician who changed two parts and did a good job but the problem was back again in less than one week. So instead of keep getting repair after repair, we claimed for a new item. And since we have several years with the company, we were so positive that we deserve it. They replaced the refrigerator and everything is okay now.

When we ran the garbage disposal, it was clogging and the sink would fill up with water. So I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and they informed me that a contractor would get a hold of me soon. The contractor then called and made an appointment. Everything happened relatively quickly which was really nice. It was an odd issue but the plumber was able to figure it out and fix it. Something was clogged but it wasn't the pipes. It was part of the pipe that allows it to drain well, like an air vent. He did a good job. The sink worked fine and he didn’t leave a mess or break anything. I was pleased with him. We have American Home Shield on two properties and we've had two claims which were both handled seamlessly. I would recommend this company.

I called American Home Shield because I have a broken pipe. After waiting a very long time for my call to be answered, I finally got through to a representative who could barely speak English. After verifying my name, address, and phone number, she repeatedly answered questions I did not ask, and put me on hold for a few minutes to get help with my issue. After setting me up with a plumber who was unable to come out that week, I called back to AHS and went through the whole thing again, with another girl whose accent was so thick I could barely understand her. I made an appointment with another plumber for that week.

The day of the appointment, I received an email from AHS stating they had canceled the appointment. I called AHS and asked why they had canceled the appointment (yes, I had to re-verify all of my information first, with some girl who could barely speak English, of course - apparently the only kind of employee they have), and she said she didn't know why they had canceled the appointment. This answer was provided after leaving me on hold for several minutes. Because of the appointment, I had to take time off work. Because of the cancellation, I went to work, but I still have not had the pipe fixed.

I feel like they take my payment every month, but are very reluctant to provide service when needed, and apparently decide to not provide service if they can get away with it. Their website includes no email contact info, only a phone number, which is not answered outside of office hours, so there is no one to complain to unless one wants to go through the long wait, the re-verification of identity, and a conversation with people who cannot understand or help. "I don't know" should not be a resolution to a problem.

On December 29, 2017, I had called for service/repair. I had to call again because the contractor never called, even though I had received a text that they would call. Needless to say, the service person didn’t show until February after complaining to AHS. When the service person came, he wrote a work order and said he would return once he got the supplies needed to fix my plumbing. I had to call AHS again at the end of February because the contractor didn’t return. In March, I was charged $75 for a service that I didn’t receive. When voicing my complaint with an AHS Representative I was told that I couldn’t have a refund, even though nothing was repaired, if I wanted another contractor, I had to pay another $75 and when asked to speak with a supervisor, I was placed on multiple holds, only to be told that I had to wait 24-48 hours for a supervisor to return my call with. Mind you I didn’t get a call from a supervisor.

Anyway, on March 13 the same serviceman came, he had no tools and no worksheet. He looked at the items that needed repair and said he’ll be back within a week. I asked him if he needed to write it down and he said he has the other work order and he didn’t have to write it down. He hasn’t been back. My husband called AHS in April and spoke with a supervisor that was rude, who refused to give us a refund and who refused to send another contractor out to fix our plumbing problem. They would only get another contractor if we paid another $75. I’m so dissatisfied in the service and the aloof attitude from a company that continues to charge their monthly fee and who had taken the $75 service fee and in return they provided no service or repairs to the items that I called about that is under their contract.

I have a home warranty with AHS and I will continue it. It's a fantastic value especially when you buy a mobile home. I'd rather be safe than sorry. When the fan stopped working on my AC unit outside, I've had several people out here for almost a year to work on it and they've already fixed that several times supposedly. I submitted the claim online and the first three guys who came out were good but the other people didn't notice the coolant.

Recently, JW Ultra Air Heating & Cooling came out and I told them the fan wasn't running again so that it wouldn't bring in heat or cool air. The tech looked at it and said that all of the coolant leaked out which caused the problem. I'm assuming that that happened when the fan fell off of it and did some damage inside, which should have been fixed the last time. So, I had to pay for the Freon to be put back in. The tech has been here before and he was great. He explained what was going on as well as what it was gonna have to be. He was really nice about it especially knowing that I was gonna have to pay out cash for the Freon because it was not included in my coverage.

We have a single level home with two restrooms. When one started running, the other one started as well. We filed a claim about a year ago and AHS sent plumbers and they fixed both toilets. Our toilet was most recently done again. A plumber came yesterday to fix the guest room toilet. It was the same toilet, the reason and the same replacement. I asked the plumber if it was normal that it should go out in a year and he said that it really depended on the product that they used to replace it. My concern is that they possibly, on the second restroom, only replaced that pump part as opposed to replacing the flap part. The one that we had in our master bathroom was completely different from what the plumber replaced last night.

A year prior, when they got replaced, they used different stuff in our bathroom from what they did in the other one so it meant that they didn’t replace it when they should have had. The guy was really good by admitting that saying, “They should have replaced everything. One can cause the other to be a problem.” This makes a problem with my water bill. American Home Shield has been good but sometimes the contractors have may have been questionable. I had a situation a year or two ago where I had put a claim in and the contractor never contacted us. I had to call American Home Shield, request the service again and to have them send somebody out.

I recently filed a claim to American Home Shield for a garbage disposal. I did replace the garbage disposal before through AHS. This probably wasn’t my best experience because the garbage disposal that was installed had a slow leak that I wasn’t aware of because I had so many items under the sink. When I went to retrieve them, I realize that I had water everywhere. The contractor replaced the garbage disposal. He fixed AHS’s first plumber's work and he did a great job. But I am disappointed that I basically paid twice and I’m upset with myself. I should've realized that it was leaking sooner. When the first guy installed the garbage disposal, I noticed that there was an exposed wires, and I was like, “Oh well, I’m not gonna worry about that. The garbage disposal’s there. I’ll keep it moving.” Nonetheless, there are no leaks and it’s working again. I’m very satisfied with that.

I had a very pleasant experience with AHS. Most of the contractors that work with them are very good. Sometimes you have to go through a few lemons to get that good contractor but I think that’s with anything. I do appreciate having the coverage. And they do trans screening too so I don’t feel like I’m just calling someone out of the yellow pages. And the work that the good contractors do is excellent. He thought the issue was in the fuse but that wasn’t it. So he continued to check the washer out and he found out that it could be the motor. But instead of ordering the motor through American Home Shield, I found out that he ordered it through their carrier and it took him a week to get the motor in. And the hot water heater was supposed to be fixed the first time but it wasn't. Then the second person came out and said that he was a professional and a master plumber. He was bragging on his skills. He kept telling this and that was wrong but whatever it was didn't work. He said that the water heater should come back on after 45 minutes. But I waited for 2 hours and it never came back on. So for the third time, the second plumber came back to say he already knew what the problem was. I told him that he told me he knew what it was back then.

Also, the rep from that company was really nasty. She told me to boil some water instead. I called American Home Shield and told them about it. They said they were going to send somebody else as soon as possible. They also said it might take a couple of days but it was more than a couple of days for somebody to actually come out. They've done a very thorough job and I've always had a good experience with the contractors American Home Shield has sent.

All our appliances are covered and I recommend the home warranty to everybody. If you don’t have American Home Shield, then you're going to be spending a lot more money. The only things is they wait until an appliance is on its last leg. It has to be completely gone before they'll buy us out most of the time. Our microwave blew some circuits and it was interesting that they would spend $500 on a microwave that's 10 years old instead of letting us get a new one. The microwave works great now but there are still bulbs that are burnt that I gotta replace. The technician gave me the part numbers to order though, so that was above and beyond what he needed to do. But if you have to wait for the item, like a refrigerator, to go out and it takes a week to get the money and get a new replacement, that's the only thing I can see as a downfall.

I started to notice that my glasses were coming out of the dishwasher not very clean even though I rinsed them really well. Then I tried to see if it was gonna be an ongoing thing and after two weeks, I decided to call and submit a claim with American Home Shield. The claims representative was very good and so were the company they contracted to do the repair, and I got emails right away. But Jerry, the gentleman who worked on the dishwasher, couldn’t figure out what the problem could be. He did the normal test, looked at it all over and told me to keep an eye on it. And the problem continued, so I called them back and he still didn’t find a problem with it. It may be just one of those things, but Jerry is great.

Our shower was leaking, so we submitted a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. The representatives that we spoke with were very pleasant, and the contractor from Mr. Rooter Plumbing came. He had to order a part and then he came back and put it in, and everything was fine.

The washer and dryer weren't working correctly and were not finishing loads or airing out. So I called American Home Shield. Submitting the claim was simple. I went online and had the service person come out. American Home Shield called me within a couple of days to start the claim and they ran through it. It was simple.

Everything was done over email and calls and it really wasn't much. I followed up a couple of times to try to speed up the process and to get it quickly done. It happened quickly more than most of my previous experiences. The customer service people were very good, very informative and very nice. The contractors were very helpful, very knowledgeable and clean. They came out and worked on the project and gave my wife some opinions. They were also quick in diagnosing. The repair people came in, but they couldn't fix it. They needed parts that weren't around anymore. They quickly came up with a plan to get me a replacement washer and dryer, so they were very good. I had a great experience with American Home Shield and it was better than expected.
