Had air conditioning issue in 95 degree heat. I tried 2 different contractors, 6 days for 1st, 7 days for 2nd. Really??? Does this seem acceptable? I tried calling back to see if I could try another service provider. I understand places are busy but don't direct me to places that are too busy to come out. After lots of re-explaining my situation, customer service rep said he was putting me on whole but disconnected me. Called back again, on hold again, hoping this rep will not hang up.
Good evening Sarah,
I understand your frustration with the delay in service you have experienced as well as the hold times that you endured. I would be glad to speak with you and get your issue resolved.

We buy and sell properties, so we have American Home Shield on 50 houses. Recently, there was a water heater issue and an assistant of mine submitted the claim for it. AHS sent out Harvey’s Plumbing & Drain and the guy that runs it, Clayton, is excellent to work with. He's professional, does a great job, easy to talk to and explains things well. Whenever we set up an appointment with AHS, things get taken care of in one day and sometimes the next day but it is always quick and done right away.

I had an issue with the water heater in my condo. My realtor submitted the claim to American Home Shield for me. It took AHS about a week to send the contractor because I had to pay it for modifications, which I did not understand the necessity of that. Nevertheless, the guy was fine and the problem was fixed in one appointment. The company was amazing, however, I was a little disappointed that they had to do a modification.

I had AHS send someone to repair a gas oven and submitting the claim was very easy. They gave me instructions by email to tell me who was coming. The guy that came out had a conflict of time but was able to arrange it for my convenience, which I really appreciated. He did an excellent job. I used to be with AHS way back and bought it back this year. My son bought a house three years ago and he has AHS so I decided to come back to them. I would recommend them.
Good evening Lawrence,
I am pleased to hear about your most recent experience with AHS. It is our pleasure to exceed your expectations and provide you with a knowledgeable contractor that can service your home needs. I hope that you continue to enjoy your warranty with AHS!

I called American Home when we had a blockage in the line. It was very quick and very efficient. And the plumber that was sent out was perfect. He was very informative and I learned a lot from him. He knew what he was doing, and he took care of the issue. Everything has been good. American Home Shield is a good deal.

One of the HVAC units needed servicing. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and it was easy to navigate their website. However, there was always a several-day waiting period because the ones that service the warranty company are always backed up. That’s the biggest frustration with the home warranty service but that’s standard. Also, when it’s something like plumbing, we usually end up calling an independent company. It has only happened once but it’s not something that can wait if your toilet is not working. That’s the worst part about it but I still think the home warranty is worth it in general.
Also, the tech who was sent for the HVAC was fine and it was surprising because online, one will find that there in Atlanta as well as Greenville, the company is slammed on Yahoo. It’s just horrible but it was fine for us. The guy was great and he fixed the problem. I was really glad I didn’t read the reviews before he came out. Nevertheless, the HVAC unit has been working fine after the repair. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been very good.

We have coverage from American Home Shield since September. The seller of the house gave it to us as a gift. For our first claim, the washer would stop in the middle of the cycle and we couldn’t finish washing our clothing. So we submitted a claim online and it was easy. Navigating the website wasn't hard. The technician from Adam’s Appliance Repair who came out wasn't very friendly but he was very competent in his job. He fixed the washer but 7 days after, it broke in exactly the same way again. So, he came back and then fixed it again but he's going to order a new switch.
But apparently, our washer is old and the switch is not being made anymore. The tech said they're still looking for options like trying to get it from a different provider, but it's taking three weeks. He also said we can order a new washer and although there's a fee that we have to pay, we‘d get a washer that won't keep on breaking. So right now, it's a temporary fix and the switch is gonna break anytime again. And I'm still waiting for the part to see if it has arrived. Other than that, I had a very good experience with American Home Shield.

It was easy submitting the claim for my microwave on AHS' website. Everything was done there - the booking and the schedule of the guy coming. The contractor sent was a good guy. One of the pads was messed up and it wasn't working, so he ordered a new one and got it working. The microwave has been working great since the repair.

I called in the air conditioner that was not cooling and they got a contractor out within 24 hours. He fixed it but later that afternoon, it broke again and that ended up being over the weekend. He came out again on the following week and fixed the air conditioner. It has been working fine since then. I was pleased that American Home Shield handled the claim quickly and the person they sent was good. I'd recommend them to friends.
Good morning Brannon,
Your feedback is greatly appreciated regarding your most recent experience with American Home Shield. I am glad to hear about the repairs that were completed to get your system cooling as it should.

My oven's sound and light would come on but the heating element didn't work well. We've had a little bit of back and forth with American Home Shield on that claim but mostly, it worked out okay. The technician came out, identified the problem with the control unit and then discovered that they didn't make those control units anymore so I had to get a new oven. The folks at American Home Shield said that they couldn't find an equivalent model and wanted to pay me the plan amount but I was able to find the model that was the successor to what I had. Once they got the model number, they were able to straighten everything out and order a new oven.
I filed my claim online but then it had to be followed up with phone calls as American Home Shield's online system didn't allow me to give them enough information. I've also run into this problem before when there was something wrong. I tried to do it online then ended up going to the rather long wait to get through on the phone to be specific so that they could accurately tell the technician what to be prepared for. American Home Shield seemed responsive. Just expect to sit on hold for a good 20 or 40 minutes as they get swamped at times. Also, the website is handy but it's simplistic. With all the things that we're supposed to be able to claim, we don't have those choices on the online system so I think that could be a little bit better.
The contractor American Home Shield sent was hard of hearing and I didn't get that at first until the person who was assisting him was trying to get his attention and he wasn't responding to him either. I was annoyed with him until I realized that it wasn't that he was deliberately ignoring me. I would have preferred that he was more careful with my stuff. When he came in and decided he wanted a part of the counter for his stuff, he just grabbed my stuff and moved it. I could have done that and would have been able to sort through it better later. It was a misunderstanding but he did a very good job on the installation.
I'm really pleased with the service and on the whole, it's a really good deal. I had a lot of plumbing issues at first and American Home Shield was fabulous for that. I felt very reassured about having the security of having the warranty program like when the oven went out and they sent out a $3,500 thing as it was an oven-microwave combination. Covering that despite excluding the cost of the service call was amazing. The downside is that I'm limited to the same type of appliance that was in the house. They apparently made a very careful inventory of the appliances that are covered. It's fine unless I upgrade or change things around. I would definitely recommend for people to have a home warranty.

I filed a claim for my stove, the timer on my pool and my dishwasher with American Home Shield. The stove guy was great. However, the first guy who came out for my dishwasher didn't finish the job. That contractor didn't attach my dishwasher back so every time I'd open the door, it would fall out of the cabinet. I didn't immediately call in so I ended up having to pay again to have somebody come out and finish it.
Also, with the claim for my pool timer, the first contractor AHS got a hold of never contacted me. I waited two weeks and there was still nothing from them. But then, I saw that money had been taken out of my account so I called immediately. I told them that nobody ever showed up and that I've been waiting for somebody to call. AHS finally sent somebody out thereafter. AV Hawaiian was the company that came out and they were very helpful and informative. They had the equipment and though they needed a timer, they had it on their truck. Their guy was here and gone within my lunch hour from work.
Since the repairs, everything has been working perfectly. I've been so happy with AHS that I recommended my neighbors to give them a call and they set up a contract with the company. I told my neighbors that because our homes are older, we never know what's going to go wrong and this warranty is the best thing they could spend money on.

American Home Shield is quick to respond when I submit my claim online which I usually do. I just take my account status and put it in there so it’s more convenient. The contractor for the toilet was very personable and interacted with me and a couple of other family members. He explained in detail what was wrong with each bathroom, what equipment was needed and what he was doing. And then after installing it, he explained how it was working and the warranty information on it. AHS is doing a great job and if we have problems or issues with the reps, they’re gung ho about fixing the issue. It is a good warranty plan and for anyone who especially owns their own home, it is a must-have to cut down on cost and repairs.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone for the air conditioner and the interactions with their reps were fine. They were able to find a company that would come out immediately and the contractor's service was very good. Since the repair, the performance of the AC has been great. The AC stopped working last night but it was because of a problem with our thermostat that we fixed and not because of the repair that they did.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Ann. We look forward to serving your future warranty needs.

The air conditioning unit was blowing hot air and it was a 100 degrees that day. We needed an air conditioner so I filed the claim online and that experience was good. But American Home Shield told me somebody would be out and I waited and waited but no one called. So I called the air conditioner people and told them that I was supposed to get a call. Their rep said someone would call me back but I still got nothing. So I called American Home Shield again to have them assign me somebody different and the representative said she would check. She called the company and they said they don't service this area. But they should have told me that when I called them and said I wanted to set up an appointment.
The gal at American Home Shield was great though. She immediately found someone else and Redeemed Heating and Cooling immediately called that day. We got somebody out quick and the technician was excellent and very professional. He did his job and and we were done a day later. They got the AC fixed and it was great. When we had somebody out to look at our water heater, we weren't real thrilled with them. But Redeemed was awesome and I really liked them. The people at American Home Shield always do a good job too, and everything is always great. I would recommend them.

My washer wasn’t working and it was showing some code. I submitted a claim for it online with American Home Shield and that was very fast. Then I got an email saying that the contractor was coming out here. It took a little bit longer to get someone here than I estimated, but they were pretty quick. The contractor came at the right time, and he was so awesome. He was a really nice person, very quick to do what he came to do, and he answered any questions that I had in regards to what he was doing. They had to order the parts and made the second appointment, so they could change the part and fix the washer.
I was very disappointed with my air conditioner claim, though. American Home Shield covered only certain things and the contractor was really bad. They called me to make an appointment to come and they came here once, but I was never notified that a ladder that goes up to the attic was needed and we have never had one. They said they notified American Home Shield too, but American Home Shield had no knowledge of that. Also, it could take more than a month to get the parts to fix my unit. I really don’t like making business with companies like that.

Submitting a claim with American Home Shield has been super easy. I did it all online and it's been really helpful. We've had AHS service since April 30th and we've had four different contractors already. So far, my experience has been nice and they've all been really good. The technician that they sent out from Realty Ricky was great. He explained everything and was efficient and quick. The experience was great. In fact, I asked him his card because I'm gonna have him do another walk later.
We also had a plumber named Ed. He first came out for an issue and he was good. But then, another guy came. He said he cleaned up but he really didn't clean up well. And so I typed up a little review on him. And when he came back out to put in the water heater, he was very non-communicative because, I guess, he got in trouble. I felt bad but if you want to improve service then that's how you get feedback. It was rough and it got so awkward after that. Other than that, all the vendors have been really good and I've already recommended American Home Shield.

Our recent experience with American Home Shield was great. I filed the claim online then they called me back and the contractor was there the next afternoon. He was really nice too. I had the circuit break on my box changed and I was watching him the whole time. It was fixed in five minutes. The washing machine wasn't working for a day, which was no big deal. Last time, I got double charged for one month when I sent the check before my warranty expired. But that was corrected and they didn't charge me the next month. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been excellent.

At first, we had an outside vendor come in to check our AC because the temperature jumped up to around 85 degrees inside the home. It was bad, especially with three young children in the house during the day. We were told that the cost for them to fix the problem would range from $15 to $10,000. I told my wife that we should call American Home Shield and get one of their vendors in because we've always had a great relationship and everything has worked itself out whenever we have done that. We called them and it was perfect.
We had the vendor come out the next day. They walked upstairs and looked at the AC unit inside. The three filters that were sitting inside the walls of the home right next to the unit was messed up. The tech pulled all three out, went outside and filled up the coolant. It was down to about a quarter left. The vendor we had the day before said they discontinued that coolant, which was why they would have to change the entire thing. AHS's guy had it sitting in the truck and not only saved us $15 to $10,000, he had everything fixed within 30 minutes.
Having a home warranty is extremely valuable. We've had major appliances in our home that have messed up over the past couple of years. We had one issue that is still not fixed and we had a bad feeling about it. But I we called in three or four times after that, and everything was handled perfectly on those other ones. People need to check into going with AHS over who they were currently using.

We submitted a claim online to AHS because our dryer wasn’t working anymore. We weren’t getting any heat and it was getting very moist. It was easy submitting the claim online. However, every once when we had to call them and that’s when it becomes unfortunate. It’s especially if we ever have had somebody to come out, and we were either not happy with who they sent out or it’s more complicated than what was initial. Then we have talked to someone and there are times that my husband and I just pass off the phone back and forth on each other so we can go to the bathroom and take a shower. It gets really bad sometimes.
We also had one contractor that we were not too thrilled as we had an AC problem and he kept talking about Freon. Although he inspected the coils, we found that we had a massive leak and ended up having to replace our unit. It was a waste of time and money since we bought more Freon. That was also the longest time we’ve been on hold trying to explain what was really going on with American Home Shield.
We also had a leak with one of our pipes and we couldn’t turn it off from the inside so we had to have somebody to come out to professionally turn it off from the main outside. We learned that there was no 24-hour plumber so it turned into a major disaster in our basement because we couldn’t get anybody out and we tried to talk to AHS. We finally had to call whatever plumber who would respond but they were expensive. We didn’t go for him but we had him to at least turn off the water to try to minimize the damage but it wasn’t until I clean up a bit for $20,000 for the damage because we just couldn’t get anybody out and it was bad.
I didn’t have to wait on hold with American Home Shield because it happened in the middle of the night. And every time I called they assured me they were trying to get a hold of somebody. They might have people under their list that claims to be 24-hour plumbers but even when I talked to them on the phone, they’d say that they couldn’t guarantee it.
Otherwise, we’ve been with AHS since we first bought the house several years ago. When it’s something random and normal that we can deal with, and then just put online, we’re happy. We haven’t cancelled with them. I also believe they’re better than Old Republic which we had when we first bought the house. We got rid of them. Definitely, we’re happier with American Home Shield. There are some things that they can do better.

I've had American Home Shield for four houses that I've owned from Southern California to here. Over the course of 2002 to 2018, I rarely called them. I had a husband who managed to replace washers in the plumbing. Plus, I had a many contractors’ clients, so if I really had an issue, I could call one of them. AHS was more for sizeable things, like the water heater. I personally found that they’ve been really good at what they do. They were timely and always brought the right parts.
I filed two claims with them and then I withdrew one. My washing machine blew up. It was all manual knobs, which tells how old it was. I was gonna have AHS come out to look at it, but it was gonna take over two weeks before somebody could come out. I bought a brand new washer and dryer instead of trying to fix it. Our toilet is just inches away from the washing machine, and when they installed it, not a scratch on the washer and no mess. They always clean up very well.
Also, the house was built in the 1970s and the water faucet was original to the house. If you grab just the head of it, you can pull it out and extend it. The extendable hose is made out of mesh and it had gotten some pinhole leaks, which was slowly dripping underneath the sink every time we turn the sink on. I called that in, and ironically, the contractor AHS used was Northwest Sundance. Unfortunately, it has been my experience so far that Northwest Sundance is just never ready. They are the go-to people for American Home Shield here and they were in Washington State too. For some reason, the communication that comes from Northwest Sundance, the emails or the texts don’t prepare their guys. I suspect that Northwest Sundance calls local plumbing individuals and sends them out on jobs.
They sent the first guy within a few days because any leak is considered more urgent. He came in and took pictures. And he wrote up a bid to get my toilets replaced. They were rescheduled to come back and the young man who called me, who was a completely different guy, was very nice. He called from Eugene, which is about 45-minutes south of Corvallis where I am. He said the email simply said that there was something wrong with my toilet. I said I was supposed to get a replacement toilet and get my faucet fixed. He said he'd get back to me. About an hour later, he called and he was 10 minutes out. So if there was going to be any conversation about any parts he might need and maybe me taking a picture of something and sending it to him, that was gone.
He came in and all he did was replace the toilet and collect the check. The bid was for $1,000 so I gave him the first $500 and then the last one, the $500. He walked over, looked at the sink, and pulled the faucet out. He said he would have to see if he had that in his truck. We cleaned out under the sink Tuesday just before the holiday. I said I haven't put the stuff back under the sink, and he said that doesn’t fix it. Bottom line is that I didn’t know the contractor hadn't fixed the sink. I paid him $75 for it because when they do the service call, you'd usually pay.
AHS really dropped the ball on my sink and no one called after the service. Usually, I get a call from them afterwards asking how the service went. It was not a huge leak and maybe that was part of the mindset or perhaps it was because they never called the same person twice and don't have a good follow-up. And I think it's because they're using a large organization that isn't communicating well. But except for that sink, every person AHS has sent has been qualified. I haven't seen anybody fumbling around.

I’m living in Florida so I keep my temperature fairly warm. I keep that on 80 at the thermostat and sometimes when I have company over, it gets quite warm so I want to put it down even to 78, and it would not go. In the afternoon when the sun was really warm, my AC would go as high as 84, even with the AC working. I got through the automated system of American Home Shield. They had my email address and right away I received an email confirming the name of the company that was gonna be showing up.
The technician quickly found the problem. He told me that the coil was rusted and it was older. And the reason why the temperature couldn’t get it any cooler was because I needed more coolant. The technician explained to me that I would be needing a new coil and AHS would probably cover that. However, I would have to put all the new coolant in myself and that would be like $700. And so as it stands now, every time I’m having trouble I have to call and get coolant. I don’t know how long this can go on.
Then he also explained to me something new that I didn’t realize with American Home Shield. He said that they no longer replace the air conditioning, even though it was on my list. He said what they would do is just give me a $1000 credit towards a new one. And I had never heard of that before. And then he tried to sell me what would cost me between around $3000 or $4000 out of my own pocket. We let it go at that because we can’t afford it right now. It also took the technician a few days to come out but that’s understandable. Everybody has air conditioning, so I realize they can’t come out in a day or two. I have no problem with American Home Shield. I’ve had it for quite a number of years and then I signed my mother over.

I have a policy with American Home Shield for a really long time. The air conditioning went out in the condo unit and it’s 110 to 115 degrees out here. It’s one of the very first times I’ve used AHS. They sent the first person out from Affirmative Air who then said they don’t work on air conditioners in condos and left. AHS took time to get the next guy out there. In the meantime, the guy worked on the tenant to cut out AHS and just go with them for $660, and it took four days for him to turn the report in. He worked on them the whole weekend and it didn’t break them, but they were really in trouble with 110 to 115 degrees.
So then, I had to get the tenants a floor unit which didn’t work. It’s new but that’s just too hot. The guy came back and said he had to order parts. This started around June 13. Now, he went to order the parts and finally came back but said that he ordered the wrong parts. He has to go back out and get some more parts. And when he came back, he said they ordered the wrong parts again.
This has gone on for so long that the tenants broke the lease legally, which they’re perfectly capable of doing. I’m paying $100 a day to put them in a motel, waiting for AHS to function, which they can’t seem to do. Then I found out that the second people that AHS have been working with don’t even have an office. They don’t have someone answering the phone. They also operate out of a van, and I think they sleep in it too. They still haven’t fixed the AC. Now, I’m out $278 for the fan and the floor air conditioner.
AHS has no authority to do anything except apologize and say they're not gonna cover anything. They also said they will cover the air conditioner but they're not responsible for any losses I take because of their incompetence and their failure to perform in a reasonable period of time under the contract. I called them every day and nobody could say anything on the screen. I asked them if they have what I said on the screen from the last time I called. They said no. So, finally, I had to call back the very last time and ask them to read to me what they have on the screen because nobody puts on it any of the comments I’m making. I would tell others that I am not happy with American Home Shield.
Good afternoon Belinda,
I understand your frustration with the delay in service you have experienced to have your air conditioner system repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved

The people who sold us our house left without leaving a key to the garage, which was keyed differently within the entrance to the house. They tried to mail it, but it never arrived. But as a part of purchasing a new home, we got an offer from American Home Shield to rekey up to three locks for only a $75 visit. So I called them and their representatives were very helpful. They had the Realty Key guy call me for an appointment. He came and he was prompt. He knew what he was doing and he was professional, courteous and friendly. He went out of his way to do a couple of things for me that weren’t covered by the contract. So, it was a very positive experience with him.
AHS is a great company. They're customer-oriented, responsive and easy to deal with, and their contractors do good work. I like the attitude that they have of being willing to go the extra mile for the client. There's a sense that they're willing to, without an additional charge provide some extra service to the customer while the contractors are on site. So I found that different and helpful.

The person was adamant that I had to give the contractors a chance to come back and rectify it. I said that I’ve waited over seven days for them to get it right the first time, but they never showed up. The issue has been fixed temporarily until it breaks again, but I don’t particularly like the contractor's service or the way that they’re handling their customers at all.

My AC was not working and the contractors who came out were really good and very professional. At first, the compressor gave out and then they found a leak in the condenser. They told me that it was completely worn out. The AC is now working but we have a little issue with the drainage. But overalll, I'm very satisfied with AHS.

My garbage disposal was previously replaced but then we had an issue where it stopped working again. I called American Home Shield and the contractor came by, found out what the issue was and took care of it. And then they recently came out again because the garbage disposal had just fallen apart. It wasn't screwed tightly and it just dropped so they came back and fixed it again. Their every visit was great. We had a couple of mishaps behind it. But the two different gentlemen who came were very nice and conversational. They have great customer service. I hope we don't always have to call American Home Shield but so far they have always come in the nick of time.

My AC didn’t have any Freon so I submitted a claim to AHS over the phone, spoke to somebody and my experience was good. The contractor gave me a four-hour window as far as when I got the text message and the email, but when I posted them on the phone, I was given an eight-hour window and didn’t call until he was half an hour away. So I was waiting on somebody for a whole day, but he did come and he was nice. He tried to fix it the first day he came. Apparently, my system was frozen so we had to turn it off and leave it off for 24 hours to defrost. He came back the next day and fixed it.

I called American Home Shield when I had an issue with the AC. It was extremely hot that day and it was gonna be a four-day wait. But there was not much they could do when there was nobody to come out either. They found a company and they phoned me up. There was a day and a half then they sent somebody out there. The technician was a good guy and an experienced professional. We talked a bit and he was very friendly. We asked him what he was doing with things. It turned out that the thermostat wire was running through a piece of copper tubing and the vibration wore through it and shorted it out. That was what was taking the fuse out. He was good overall and I would recommend that company. I would also tell others what coverage American Home Shield does and that they better be aware if the price is right.

I called back three weeks after and asked if the part had come in. They said it had and that they’ve been trying to contact me. I told them that I had not received any phone calls, so they scheduled something and came out and fixed the faucet. Everything has been good. American Home Shield is a good company. We've had American Home Shield at our other house before so we knew how to use it and we didn't have any issues in filing the claim. We then got an excellent service from The Lindsay Company. I appreciated that the company came a bit faster than we were expecting because with AHS, you sometimes gotta wait for a contractor to come out and it would take a couple of days. Then, the contractor who came was very polite and knowledgeable. He worked fast and was very efficient. He also made sure everything was in good, working order before he left. And it turned out, we were right. A dime was stuck inside the unit. Now, the unit is working perfectly and is very quiet.

We bought a home a year ago, and were happy with AHS when they helped with our refrigerator. We just renewed our warranty, and within a week things in our jacuzzi are going. First was the blower would die after running for 5 minutes--I guess a fan wasn't working. That was somehow denied because it wasn't the "motor", which makes no sense. There was no way to fix the problem without replacing the WHOLE blower, and on top of that, the not working fan made the blower not work. So we had to pay for their person to come look at it, and then had to pay to replace the blower. That's a total of $400+ on that.
Now the heater isn't working. There is a leak in a pipe. That's somehow not covered either, even though our policy clearly states they cover all heating components. Tried to tell us a piece is missing. That is not what the guy who came out to look at it said. They have denied that, and said it's going to be $2000 to fix it. The guy who had looked at it, said that the best way to fix the leak, was to actually replace the whole heater. I'm very upset, since I thought we had picked a warranty company that seemed to have a good reputation. I will be spreading the word on our experience in all the places I can.

Our real estate agent purchased this policy for us when we purchased our home. I still think it was very thoughtful of her to do this. However, the experiences we've had with American Home Shield have been nothing but horrible. The first experience we had was the Air conditioning company they sent out was trying to do a side deal. He made it seem as my air handler wasn't covered and he had one in the shop and would give me a good price on it. I had a bad feeling about what he was saying, because this was his 3rd visit to recharge the condenser with Freon. So when I called BS on them, the AC company told AHS they did not want to come back to my house because they were afraid of me. The second company that came, actually replaced the Air handler.
Now fast forward 2 years after I pay AHS with auto pay every month, we still have problems with the AC unit, I had a co-worker refer me to an AC person who would come out on a weekend, he checked the unit and said the entire unit needs to be replaced being it was so old and it kept freezing up. I called AHS, their techs did come out the same day, however, they left an invoice with my parents and said they needed parts and would return. Two days later we kept trying to call the AC company (Liberty heating and AC) and their cell phone voicemail was full and could not leave a message (not even professional enough to have an office line). Needless to say, they did not return our calls.
We called AHS thinking they could at least get us some information. We were quite wrong, they tried calling the same number, with the same result as us. AHS 'said' they emailed them, again, no response from Liberty AC. We were coming into a heat wave of +98 degrees, I have elderly parents that I take care, so since AHS wasn't helping me, I cancelled the service ticket so they wouldn’t charge me the $100 for the AC techs visit. So then I had to go into my own pocket and pay $3,285 to get the condenser replaced. We I tried to get reimbursed from AHS, they said since I cancelled the service ticket, they wouldn’t honor my request. I asked for a supervisor, they said they can put in the "request to speak to a supervisor" and their normal response time for a supervisor to call me back is 24-48 hours. Imagine???
If you google Liberty Heating and air conditioning, you will see all the complaints are the same. If you google AHS, you will see nothing but complaints about them. I am truly surprised to see the positive comments on this site. However, all the positive feedback is from communities in the midwest etc. None are from the Northeast... perhaps the issue is with the Regional superiors in these parts??? I am completely shocked how this company is still in business, and the agencies that oversee these types of businesses allow this. I can compare this to extortion! We pay you for a service, but you never provide the service. In my opinion, the CEO/President and its officers should all be in jail for scamming the public.

What he brought along is some cheap $35 faucet. I was not happy and called AHS to have me at least some decent brand basic faucet to be installed. On Amazon, it is hard to find single handle faucet for less than $80.
AHS said, "We can pay you $155 and you have to buy new faucet and get it installed." How is this possible. I have already paid $100 for service fee and now getting $155 back in which I am responsible for not only buying new Faucet but also getting installed by myself. Numerous call and holding phone for hours has no positive response so far. As I type this, I am on phone for more than hour and they are keep transferring me to different department. I hope they get this message and understand that consumer buy this for peace of mind. After spending $100, I am still living with broken faucet for more than a month. I recently had a really bad experience with AHS related to my Air conditioning system. I had a 9.5 year old unit that came with the house, that stopped pushing cold air out. I opened a ticket with AHS and they sent out their contractor to examine the system. The diagnosis was that the Evaporating coil was leaking and the refrigerant had all leaked out. It turns out that my current system uses R-22 as the refrigerant that is being phased out and is expensive because there's limited supply. I also found out that AHS only pays 10$ per pound for a refrigerant in a scenario like this where the contractor is asking for 125$ a pound. The overall recommendation by the contractor was that he would replace the Evaporator coil, which AHS would pay for along with the labor for the putting it in place.
My system is located in the basement right next to the wall where my condenser unit is outside the house probably a total of 8-10 feet away. The out of pocket quote to "modify" the system to fit the evaporator coil was over 2K. So the final amount I would pay for the refrigerant and "modifying" my system to fit the coil approximately 3,200. I got three other contractors to check and each contractor recommended that I change the coil and condenser unit, with varying quotes and the best being 3750 for a system with the same rating. I talked to AHS about this and they want to pay me ~715$ if I want to fix it by someone else, because "modifications of existing system" are not covered.
I don’t get why AHS expects me to go with their contractor when they need enough money to replace the whole system but all they are going to do is replace a part, and have me chip in the "modification" fees. Totally disappointed! The whole point of paying every month for home warranty is so I don’t have to foot an unexpected bill like this. Not to mention that the minimum wait time I have faced on the customer service line is 30 minutes.

He came back and because the water heater was in an outdoor closet and he was going to use a torch he had to remove the water heater as a safety issue not as an access issue, he took pictures to send to AHS, he charged $125.00 to remove and replace the water heater to prove it was a safety issue, not an access issue. AHS refused to pay the additional $125.00. I understand the access issue when you cannot do the job because you cannot get access, this was not the case. I talked to AHS but it do no good. We had a slab leak early June that flooded most of our first floor and ruined our hardwood floors. We were going to call our regular plumber who handled a previous slab leak for a flat fee of 1200 dollars, but remembered we had the AHS warranty, so called them instead. We asked if we could use our regular plumber but were told we had to use one of their contractors. He came out the next day and temporarily fixed the massive water leak, but there was a secondary leak as soon as he left, so we had to shut down the water to the house entirely for three days-no toilet or showers available for that time. The plumber sent the information to AHS who denied the claim, but never bothered to tell us that. We called the plumber back after the third day to ask what happened and he told us AHS' decision. I called them to ask why and they said they don't cover slab leaks because they are not accessible. Two problems with this:
1. Since we told AHS when we first called in this was a slab leak, they should have informed us at the time. To add insult to injury, we were charged a $125 fee for them to come out when they should never have come out if they are claiming they don't cover slab leaks. On top of that, we were charged by the plumber $2,400 to fix what would have cost $1,200 by our regular plumber because we were told we had to go with this plumber!
2. The contract under section E-4 says in the NOTE section "where covered repairs require access to plumbing, AHS will provide access to plumbing only through unobstructed walls, ceilings or floors and will return access opening to a rough finish." Here is the important part- "If the plumbing is accessible only through a concrete floor, wall or ceiling, AHS will pay up to $1,000 per contract term for access, diagnosis, repair or replacement of such plumbing, including returning access openings to a rough finish."
AHS did none of the above and denied the relevance of this note in their contract. The plumber accessed the plumbing from a wall and re-routed it through the ceiling. My warning to all of you is be sure to talk to the contract department before signing on with AHS. Think of the possible scenarios you may face, because their contracts are not written to protect you...but to protect them. I made three phone calls to AHS to resolve this issue. I got a very impersonal letter from them as a result saying absolutely nothing. I am searching online for a different company. My homeowners insurance responded very professionally to our crisis...go AAA!

I have heard great things about this warranty service. I recently initiated a service call for my washer that was having issues. They seemed great, but we ended up having a technician over at our house EVERY OTHER WEEK replacing parts that would fix it. Services started at the end of April and we are in the beginning of July now trying to fix it. It also appears that they don't keep record with their technicians that they send, as they decided to send a different technician company half-way through. The tech companies were friendly, but AHS gave our 2nd tech company NO information about what was done and replaced for the first company. It is clear this company wants to take your money but they don't want to pay to replace your machines.
To make matters worse, I have called multiple times to receive a cash out offer (as I am sick and tired of waiting for a new machine), and they said two weeks ago, that I would receive a call by the end of last week. I called this Monday, and they said they can't promise anything and they are busy. I just finished (if you could even say that) talking to a representative who said I couldn't talk to their manager. Please note that I am very calm throughout all of this and don't believe that anger helps these situations. Then I said I am willing to wait. After being on hold for 15 minutes, she says I am still here but you can't talk to my manager. I said I am willing to wait, and after another half hour on hold, the call drops.
Please keep in mind I haven't moved (I have been at my desk), and not only do I have great cell service, but I also have wifi and my phone is on wifi connect as well. Basically, they dropped my call. All that to say, here is what I have to deal with, and have had 0 solutions. 8 visits from technicians (I have lost hours from work meeting the tech there to fix it which result in me working late) 2+ hours on the phone either on hold or talking to a customer service rep. No known date of when I will get a "cash out" and no idea if it will even be worth anything! I wish they would just refund my annual subscription amount at this point, and I could never again use them. I would never recommend these guys to anybody!

We had some issues with our pool recently and my husband took care of the claim submission to American Home Shield. American Home Shield gave a timeframe while I stayed home to wait. They sent out Serene Pool and the people from there didn't know what they’re doing. Their technician came in, fixed something and left. After three weekly services, my pool guys told me that the technician didn’t do the job right and the filter is not working. So, my husband called them back. Serene Pool came back again and this guy got upset with me asking why the pool is not working. I said that I don’t know anything about pools which was why I was waiting at home so he can come and take a look at it.
Without telling me what he did, he just left. I went into the pool in the backyard and then he was gone. My husband called from work and he said that he had to place everything and he has no idea why it’s not working. So he had to call American Home Shield again and they sent out a different company. The second company that came in said that there was some kind of connection in there, which he did not put right. He did it backwards that’s why it was not sucking in the water and filtering it.
My question to American Home Shield is if Serene was not doing the right work and they’ve been told to know how to do it, then their time and my time using a company that did not take care of the solution was wasted. That was something that we didn’t like because I had to stay home twice with the three visits and for the second company. I had literally had to have three different days taken off from work just so that the pool can be fixed.
Another time, we had a problem again when our toilet was overflowing and the plumbing company they sent was very bad and with attitude. They were rude and decided that the pump was not working and their technician replaced it. He left and then the same thing happened. They came again after five weeks and then they said that the handle was not working, but they should have checked it. I’m taking off from work for them to fix it but the issues are not getting fixed.
This second time, they sent a supervisor and he said that they should have noted that the handle is bad, not the pump. In sum, the plumbing experience and the pool experience with the companies sent out by American Home Shield were not satisfying. It’s questionable because American Home Shield is reputable to have good service providers so I don’t know why we had this kind of experience. Other than that, my husband has always been happy with American Home Shield and he has never changed it.

I've been in real estate for 35 years and in all that time, I've used American Home Shield. But I was not happy this time with a claim on my own house. It was horrific. The contractor that they sent out could not clear the drain. The technician said it was blocked by a piece of plastic. The thing he found was the size of a dime but it wasn't even the blockage and he wouldn't let me keep it. He went back and filed the report saying that the drain was blocked by a foreign substance and American Home Shield was supposed to ask them for pictures to see exactly what it was.
Then the contractor said that in order for them to come back, they would have to remove the toilet and do another kind of cleanout. It would cost between $700 and $1,200 and American Home Shield wouldn't cover that. They sent another guy out and he was supposed to be the owner or the manager. He said, "He said that to you? He shouldn't have said that. No, we can clear it." But when I asked if he was gonna try again, he said there was no cleanout here for this so they couldn't do it. Then he went, "Well, I guess he was right. Maybe we have to take the toilet off.” He gave me an estimate of $725 and I told him to go to hell. He didn’t even try it again.
I called another plumber that I had used before. They did the same cleanout and they were able to clear the drain out in two minutes. So if the second guy brought the proper equipment and tried it again, he could have done it too. But no, it was clogged up for over a week and they were wanting to charge me around $1,200. On top of that, they scratched the inside of my toilet with the tools that they used. The plumber I knew used a tool that had rubber on it and that didn't scratch my toilet. I've called the first contractor five times now, telling them to call me back and say how they would remedy my scratched toilet. But they've never called me back.
When I talked to American Home Shield, they blew me off. They said they had no control over the contractor side and that the only thing they could do was take them off our list, indicating we don't want them to come and service our house any longer. What they should have done was send down another contractor to see if they could resolve the issue instead of telling me, “Well no, sorry. That’s your expense.” There was no reason that American Home Shield should not have covered it. Be careful of the contractor American Home Shield sends out and if they tell you that a job is gonna cost an outrageous amount of money and that the warranty won't cover it, tell them you want American Home Shield to send out a second opinion.

My AC wasn’t working and it turned out that something about the brake light wasn’t on. I had the contractor come out the next or the day after and he was very friendly and patient with me since I didn’t know what he was talking about with regards to the AC. I had to call my friend and the contractor was kind enough to talk to my friend to let him know what was going on and then my friend would tell me about it.
Now, the AC is working perfectly fine and since I’ve had no issues with American Home Shield, I’ll refer them to any other homeowners that I know including my friends. I also like American Home Shield's packages. They have three different packages at three different prices. After the claim was submitted to American Home Shield, it took two days for the contractor to come out. He evaluated it and he decided that it needed to be replaced. The contractor helped us out properly.

We’ve had a couple of electrical issues and the last one was when the fuse box in our spare garage started melting. My husband filed the claim online and whenever we do that, we usually get an email from American Home Shield saying that they’re submitting the claim. And then we get phone calls from the contracting company that they are sending out. For this claim, we requested for the company that we had a good experience with. However, that contractor was really booked so the wait time took about four days which was a little bit longer. Nevertheless, when he got out there, he was able to fix the problem. They had replaced two fuse boxes and we haven’t had a problem with the unit since. We got American Home Shield first when we bought the house but we had a good experience with them so when it came time to renew our contract, we chose to still do it with them. I’ve recommended American Home Shield to somebody.

When our air conditioners weren’t cooling, I had no problems submitting the claim to American Home Shield. I called them and the rep listened to what I said. I did not get a call back from the first person they tried to send out. The contractor didn’t call me within 24 hours like they were supposed to per our home warranty so I had to call them. I called at 1:00 on Sunday and at 4:00 on Monday. The lady told me that they couldn’t see me until Friday and I told her about my warranty. She said I shouldn’t sign up with them to do their work if I was not gonna do what they require of me. She couldn’t do anything so I called back AHS and got AJ who sent out Mars Comfort out on Tuesday Morning at 10 o’clock.
The contractors were very professional and friendly. They came out, knocked on the door and asked me what my problem was. I told them that the AC wasn't cooling. I showed them the units and things that maybe they needed to see inside. And they went outside twice in and out and then they were fixed. They explained to me that it wasn't a big deal and then, they left. Everything was fine and I would recommend AHS.

We moved into the house a year ago but we never got the house rekeyed. So, for safety, we wanted to have it rekeyed. When I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, my interaction with their claims representative went smooth. We made the claim but then we had to go out of time for an emergency. Then we came back and called again and from the time we contacted the locksmith, they got out immediately. The guy was very friendly and very professional and the rekey was perfect. I’m very happy with AHS and I’d recommend them. I need it and that I would never go without one. Also, I’m a realtor so we put a warranty on every house we sell since it is very valuable. It is very important to cover the small and unexpected things when you first move into a house. Unlike any insurance that won’t cover the transaction unless we have either a warranty or a waiver signed by the buyer that they don’t want one.

This is a very good company and I’m glad I got them. When my drainage clogged up, the water backed up and it caused a water leak and some damage in the house. I called the claim in and my interaction with the rep was good. It took three or four days for a contractor to come out to our home. He did a very good job and was very thorough in what he was doing. He unclogged the drain and expelled all that water. Everything’s good now since the repair.

I sent a claim to AHS through their website and it was easy. The oven was not heating up. We had a power outage and when the power came back up, sometimes it would trip the breaker inside the oven unit. We had two contractors. The first one that got dispatched didn’t seem to be totally familiar with the Thermador brand, so he left. A second contractor got dispatched and they were experienced with the Thermador brand, so the whole event took only 10 to 15 minutes. The contractor reset the breaker and it restored its ability to heat up. There was another call we made to AHS which was for our central AC that hadn’t been activated in a decade. The contractor came out and he found that one of the wires in the little control box was loose, so they bound that up and the unit is now working again. Our experience with AHS has been good. The people were courteous, friendly, and efficient.

There was an issue with my refrigerator and American Home Shield gave me a contractor that took about four days before they made an appointment. When the tech came, he said what was wrong with the ref and that was it. He said that he needed to order a part and that it would be there in about 10 days. I kept on calling to ask if the part was already in. They told me that it didn’t get in and they were going to reorder. I told them that it was ridiculous. It was 120 degrees and I have no refrigeration for over a month. Then they came back to say that somebody else ordered the same parts and that they were out of town, which is a lot of baloney. It took over three weeks to get the part.
When the tech came with the part to get the ref fixed, he left a lot of debris inside the refrigerator. He didn’t test it so I’m still without a refrigerator because it doesn't cool. This contractor needs to be dropped. They usually say they’ll call you between 24 hours but they don’t make an appointment till a week later. I called American Home Shield to see if they can help me. My husband just passed away and I had to leave town so I need the refrigerator fixed. But they didn’t do anything about it. I am dissatisfied. They should have spoken on my behalf.

Then I called AHS back and they said they were sending a company out, and for two weeks, that company never called. I called AHS back and they tried the company again. The company still didn’t come out. Now, AHS is trying to set me up with another company. But AHS never called, so I called them and the company's supposed to be coming out here tomorrow. It's been 95 degrees every day this week and it's pretty hot in the house. If AHS gets the job done, then I'm happy with them. But if they don’t, then I'll have to cancel the subscription.

I've been with American Home for two months now and I've already submitted two claims, one for the pool and one for the AC. The bottom half of my pool pump where the filters go cracked and AHS sent a contractor to change all that. He, however, wasn't communicative and lied to me. He put the thing back together where it would leak, the casing was not tightened down properly and the seal wasn’t put in properly. Before that guy left, he told me to call him back if it leaks and he’ll come back to fix it. He obviously knew that it was gonna leak because he didn’t put it back together correctly and didn’t tighten it down. I understood that once they fix what they come out to fix for the warranty part and then you call them back out because there’s another problem, they end up wanting to charge you for that. I knew how that ballgame was played and I didn’t appreciate that very much. That experience put a bad taste in my mouth.
I’ve got another seal leaking on one of the valves now but I’m probably gonna have to have somebody look at it. But the claim on the AC went perfectly and AHS redeemed itself. The guy from Bella Heat and Air was great, communicative, stayed in contact with us the whole time and let us know where he was and when he was gonna be here. Then, when he got here, he was very professional. I already did the troubleshooting for him and told him what I found, and he told me that he knew exactly what was wrong with the unit. He then went back there, pulled the capacitator out, and told me that he has one of those things in his truck. He then brought it in and installed it. He even sat there and checked my other unit for me, just to make sure that everything was good. Now the AC is working great and I would recommend AHS.

We got our AHS home warranty when we bought our the house 10 years ago. We've kept it since because it has been effective. I think it runs on the borderline and the amount we wind up paying is a little less than what we would have paid without it. But still, we get things done fast and with no hassle. Most recently, we were getting water running down our ceiling. I didn't know how to fix it and I didn't have the right tools. AHS' contractor came and described what was happening. He said he thought he knew what the problem was by showing where it was. He said all we had to do was blow the pipes out. Thereafter, he figured out where the drain went to and he had me put a towel down because it could have blown back through the sink and made a mess. Then he went to the attic, spent about five minutes there and was done. Since the repair, the plumbing has been doing great.
I've been surprised that 10 years after we bought our home warranty contract, we would still have it. I thought that things would be bad and AHS wouldn't be making money. They wouldn't even want to deal with us. Instead, our warranty is running such that they make money and we save money. It can't get better than that.

So, I gave them my MasterCard. Then they were having all kinds of issues with getting the payment done. I had to call them five times and they would never seem to get it right. My last claim with American Home Shield had something to do with our plumbing and it was not completed. The guy for that claim found a leak so he fixed the master bathroom faucet. He also installed something for one of the toilets so it would flush well. When he looked at the water heater, he said that it was fine. However, after a few days, we had a leak again. I told my son to check the water meter to make sure that the leaks were completed. A couple of days later, I had the water company come out and they told us that we had a really bad leak.
We called American Home Shield again and they said that the water heater is completely gone. It was leaking from the bottom of the water heater. After that, my son called them again and was told that the water heater could not be fixed. In order to bring it up to code, it was gonna cost us $1,000. My son asked them if they could give us the money for the water heater and how much we're gonna get for the plumbing. We will find our own plumber and that's where we're at now. We're still waiting for them to get back with us. As for the other claims I filed with American Home Shield like when they came and fixed my oven, that was great. I’m very pleased with my American Home Shield policy. I always call in whenever I submit a claim and sometimes try to get a live person because the call-in service can be limited. I can’t add any insinuating factors or additional information with it. I’ve had the policy for several years now and I’ve used it multiple times, and sometimes there’s a very significant wait time but all the representatives were very helpful. One of them told me to call first thing in the morning so wait time would be less which was helpful to know.
AHS sends local contractors and I live in a small town and everyone has been really nice. When my refrigerator was going out, AHS sent a guy who was super nice but he left a massive mess in my kitchen. There was black greasy strip all over every surface of my kitchen. I mentioned it to American Home Shield and also to the contractor. He said he wasn’t aware of it enough, but he’s the owner of the company, so he should know. But I just got a new refrigerator out of AHS. I love that they now let me choose which components in the house I want covered and which I don’t, instead of just lumping them and having things covered that I don’t even have in my house. I had an issue with the washer so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. I've gotten in contact with their contractor within 48 hours and I’m scheduled to have a repair done today. We also had a plumbing issue before and the contractor came out, did the work, repaired the problem, but he had to go through the drywall in order to reach the existing problem.
According to our contract with AHS, any accessibility to the plumbing issues will be covered and that AHS would repair that to paint grade or do a rough finish. Obviously, the plumber’s not gonna do that. The plumbing repair was done over a month ago and we’ve still yet to get that drywall repaired. I just talked to AHS today and they offered us a $100 deductible buyback in order for us to contract the work ourselves. And they would reimburse with the $100 service fee for their service. I opted not to take that route because that's the whole reason I got the home warranty, to have these things covered. So, I’m still waiting to hear back on when that repair’s gonna be done to the drywall. The hole in the wall is not aesthetically pleasing, but it doesn’t impact our daily activities. It’s just an eyesore.

I had a plumbing issue and the contractor American Home Shield sent came out on a Saturday and first of all let me know that he doesn’t like working on a Saturday. I told him that my ceiling was leaking from my shower and I showed him where it was leaking down into my living room. He turned the shower on for 20 minutes and said that if nothing was gonna happen at that moment, nothing was gonna happen. I asked him if he thought that I just put the stain up on my roof. The leak was coming from my shower when I let it run a long time and I don't know where it was coming from. Then he said that he would take pictures of it which he did.
The next thing I had was my toilet was running. He said that he couldn't see anything wrong with it, so we poured everything out of the bathroom. Then he said that something was broken which was the cause and he said to simply let the water run. He said that he doesn't know if he got the part in his truck and he would have to get it from the office next week sometime. So I said, "You mean to tell me that you came over here and you don’t have anything to fix anything in your truck." And he said, "Well, we don’t carry everything. He went out to the car and he had that piece. Then I told him that the toilet was flushing slow in my son's bathroom. He went in there and he said it was simply the water turned off but it wasn’t. He then said it was turned down, so after he left, it continued to do what it was doing.
When he came back to fix the showerhead, first he told me that AHS would probably not even repair the showerhead. I said that it had got to be something leaking down into my living room. He said that that he has been in the business for 30 years and he said it had to be the old showerhead. He left, came back and replaced the showerhead that he said AHS would not probably fix, but he never went back to my son's bathroom and before I could make it back out to his car, he was gone. AHS has lots of contractors so they don't really have control over them. You did get in the pot and sometimes you don't know what you're getting. But I highly recommend American Home Shield. We started having problems with our A/C last summer. For the third time, we had to activate our insurance to get somebody to help us fix the unit as it was not cooling off. There was a leak somewhere and the Freon was escaping so we had to replace the Freon. The sad thing about it was that the Freon cost a fortune. It actually cost us $700 and that was almost like having no insurance whatsoever. Since American Home Shield doesn't cover Freon, we didn't have any claim to submit. They called me about the appointment, I paid over the phone with a credit card, then the contractor came. He was great and helpful. He charged us and that was it. I felt like if the other person that American Home Shield sent when we had issues months ago had been this thorough, we wouldn’t have had an issue to fix now.
We've been with American Home Shield for five years now and in the past, we had problems with their reps not being very helpful on the phone. The last time was a good experience though. We went through the automated system and everything was fine. But the insurance could be better. It is a costly price to pay them on a monthly basis and when we needed them the most, they didn’t pay for the Freon.
Also, I got frustrated a couple of times in the past as it was difficult to schedule an appointment. American Home Shield sent a contractor but they would not show up. We had one contractor before who finally came and tried to sell the new unit at all cost. They were quite pushy and I did not appreciate that. I had mixed feelings about that but in general, I’m satisfied with American Home Shield.

I had a horrible experience with the contractor sent out by American Home Shield. Recently, our air conditioner wasn't working so I submitted a claim over the phone. The fan wasn’t turning on and the house wasn't cooling. Air-Pro was dispatched first and the first technician told us that we had to replace the filter and do a couple of things that weren’t covered so we did that and we paid the extra fee. And then, about a week later, the same thing happened again. It was the same issue so a technician from the same company came out again. They told us that there was a crack in the line and it was low on freon. It also needed a blue jelly to fix the crack. Since none of which was covered under my warranty, it was an additional $350 to fix.
They did all that and it worked for about two days. At that time, I told them the problem is that the fan is not turning on and that there's an issue with the motor. The gentleman said it was fine but he didn't even look. Then about a week later, the same thing happened again. I called American Home Shield and they sent the same company out again with a different technician this time. When this technician came out, he said that the unit was beyond repair. It was a 15-year-old unit after all. Everything was shot and the Freon was low again, and the unit needed to be replaced. At that point, I was thrilled because we were several weeks without air and I got sick of waiting. He said he had to go run and pass it to his owner and then his owner would be the one to call it in. I said that it was no problem.
The next day, I called to follow up because at that point the house was 83 degrees, and the company instructed me to call the owner; His name was Rocko and he was handling our claim. I told him that I wanted to see where we were as far as expediting the process just because our home was so warm. The gentleman then began to scream at me on the telephone. He said that no one told me they were going to replace my unit. He also said the unit wasn’t going to be replaced, that he was going to throw a few parts in it to see if those parts would work. I insisted that it was not what his technician told me. He began to scream at me again and said he told this to me yesterday.
Long story short, I told him that I was looking at the form from their technician and it said that the unit needs to be replaced. I also told him that I can tell specific information that he told me. I then suggested calling the technician and do a three-way call but he said the technician was not reachable via telephone, and that he wanted to put a $1,500 part in with my warranty. And if that part didn’t work, then they would consider replacing it. So I said I'm not okay with it. We were three weeks in and I have already given them $500 to put a part in that he was saying, and it still continues not to work. He then hung up on me. So I called American Home Shield and requested a different company. I also told them to tell Air Pro never to come to my home again.
I was a little frustrated with AHS only because all of this took extra time. My understanding was that we continue to pay with our warranty so that if our furnace or air conditioner broke, it would be replaced 100%. It didn't help that every time I’ve called American Home Shield, I spoke with different people and I would be told something a little different each time. The first person said a new unit was fully covered. Then I was told they're gonna give me $600 for a new unit. And then I was told $400 when a new unit cost me $3,400. So I felt a little bit misled. While they will be sending me an $840 check, which would certainly help, I wasn’t anticipating having to send three grand for a new unit. Had I known I was still gonna pay for it, I would’ve done that four weeks prior. I thought I had to go through all of the appropriate channels because if it needed replacement, then it would be covered. In the end, it was a learning curve for me.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

But the hard part was that I had no oven for three weeks. I had to figure how to use anything but an oven. Other than that, it was great service and we were very happy that they fixed it. Thank God, the oven is working now. I don't even think twice now and I just turn it on. Dealing with AHS was great. The rep was really nice, exceptionally understanding and patient. We had some leaking in a fridge at previous times and he was able to fix that too.
However, I had a bit of a hard time when we were waiting for one to two weeks period because if I would pay somebody else, they would fix my issue that day. Nonetheless, I have a contract and I know someone's gonna fix it at some point. Anyone in the position would be going crazy having a broken something. With the water up to the sink and you can't use your sink other than the bathroom sink or your hot water tank broke and you have to wait a week for a new hot water tank. These things are frustrating to wait for, but as long as it is not dangerous, we know that someone's gonna fix it without having to pay a $1,000 down payment, just for them to come to diagnose it. And because I have a contract, I have that security of knowing that someone's gonna fix it. It's frustrating when we have five little kids at home and you need things to work but you just can't do without it. We're very happy with AHS. It is 4:20 pm and I am still without any progress. I informed your company on 2 occasions that the AC was not working and it is 95 degrees outside (feels like 106). I put in a request online at 7:30 am and was called back by vendor around 11 am that they are not available till Friday.
I called AHS back and explained that they should treat this with urgency due to the age of the people impacted (7 day old infant, 3 elderly 70+, 2 yr old toddler). They agreed it was urgent. However, they could not give me any timelines for expected repairs and options. I has asked several times as the next vendor, as I understood it was not available till Thursday. I asked for other options outside of waiting for the call back in 3 to 4 hours. I asked to speak with a manager. I was on the phone with AHS for 50 minutes and then agreed to a call back from the manager.
As of 4 pm, I had no contractor assigned, resolution or manager call back. They confirmed that there was no contractor assigned as of that time. She then gave the following information. Carolina Air Heating Cooling. **. Reference **. Not available till Monday 2-6 pm. I asked the AHS rep to stay on the phone as I confirmed with the vendor. The AHS representative who I spoke to hung up on me and also did not get me to a manager. I asked the person if I could get authorization to get someone because I had found someone available and they said that was not an option.
I finally spoke to someone who offered the authorization and hesitantly walked me through the guidelines: A) Licensed and insured as a 3rd party. B) Must call 877.490.5690 with a complete diagnosis before 9 pm so they can get authorization for the repair. C) I am responsible for paying ahead of time. D) I should be reimbursed for the authorized amount less the 80.63. E) Send copy to outside authorization, PO Box 171354 Memphis, TN 38187. F) If the contractor agrees they can send the bill directly to AHS with signed letter statement that authorizes AHS to pay contractor directly. G) Cannot use Anderson Air, etc. (See list of 9 companies.)
My next steps locate my own vendor at 4:45 p.m. In addition, AHS has no follow-up and expect me to keep calling in to see if AHS has a vendor in case I can't locate one at 4:45 pm. Please note I had asked for this option earlier and was told it wasn't one. I had asked to discuss this with a manager at EVERY CALL and there was a lot of pushback. In my 1st call I waited and got none, 2nd call they hung up. 3rd call she asked for a detailed explanation of why I would need a manager and then indicated if I expected them to do or say anything different. She said no-one is available to talk to me. She offered to get me the complaint department - P.O. Box 849, Carroll, Iowa 81401. There is no phone, fax, or email. That shows me that your company is really not looking for feedback. I encourage you to listen to these calls. I expect a response back within a few business days.

We have had a home warranty with American Home Shield since 2006. At first, we were satisfied with their service. However, over the last couple of years, the annual fee and fee per service has consistently increased. At the same time the quality of service has consistently decreased. It appears they are contracting out to the lowest bidder and these third parties couldn't care less about our business and make no attempts at customer service. The quality of the work is poor and communication is downright rude.
After numerous frustrating experiences, I called American Home Shield on Apr 19, 2018 and requested they cancel our contract. After speaking with a completely unhelpful customer service representative, I was told our contract was canceled. I requested a confirmation number and at that exact moment, the phone connection was lost. As it turns out, our services were never canceled, and American Home Shield continued to bill my credit card monthly in both May and June. When I called American Home Shield, they had no record of me having canceled. In searching online, it appears that we are not the only ones with difficulty terminating our American Home Shield contract. I suggest that before signing up with this company, you do your due diligence in researching the quality of their customer service and the difficulties involved in canceling your contract.

The hot water heater for my home broke down. I called AHS in order to file a claim. The technician came out in a timely matter. I get a call from American Home Shield stating that it was going to cost me $990 out of pocket but that they would pay to replace the unit. I'm paying $600 a year for this service over several years and have only filed one claim and I still have to pay $990 out of pocket? Regardless I asked if I could have an itemized receipt as to what each of these out of pocket cost are and exactly what the hot water heater itself cost as well as the parts and labor.
The technician read off the information but I asked for a written copy and he said that he could not give that to me. Then he told me I could try going to the contractor. I asked the people they had contracted out for the itemization and they said they would but they still never got it to me either. I couldn't go without a hot water heater for days on end so I called another company and they got back to me same day for the heater and total installation cost for the same price. Which makes me wonder what exactly is AHS paying for and why is this service supposedly worth it and why couldn't this all be done in one day? I also asked for a cash out detail amount and they still have not gotten that back to me either.
What a headache. I should just save the $600/yr into my own savings account and have it for expenses that come up. I want to cancel this service but will probably have to wait until I finally get a cash out answer. I'm known as a person who normally goes out of my way to give good reviews but this is the first time that I'm just angry, frustrated, and annoyed with a company and will make sure to let everyone know to avoid them at all cost.

I have had some of those nightmare repairs by mom and pops contractors that have no clue how to do a "good quality" repair. Washer had a door switch issue in April and it is down again in June. The technician they sent cobbled together a switch from parts since he did not have the correct one. So yes it lasted a total of 3 months or less. Next an electrical repair - main breaker overheating and tripping. Loser electrician tightens connections and guess what... Still tripping on hot days the AC is running hard. American Home Shield uses complete loser contractors in my area. They should not be trusted for any type of quality. Garbage, garbage and garbage!!! Etc!!!

I just moved into the house and one of the faucets was loose upstairs. There was water leaking around the faucet to my washer downstairs and there was water dripping out of the draining pipes for my air conditioning unit, so I had someone look at a few things as I was moving in. With the AC, there was a faulty connection and the way that whoever touched it last had the PVC connected to drain my air conditioning unit didn’t have the PVC joined correctly. The contractor tried to fix it but said that he didn’t really wanna do much more because it was not under what he was protected to do. He gave me instructions on what to do like what I could try if I wanted or what else I should do. I ended up using his advice and I got to fix it by myself, so it worked out.
There was also another issue within the last week. I had a huge leak coming out of one of my freshwater pipes, so I had to turn my main water off. I put things through online to request for a plumber but there was no choice to say that it was an emergency situation. It was a separate issue from what Drain Masters had come out for previously and there wasn’t a choice to pick “This is the same issue as before” or “this wasn’t". I got the notification after I put in the submission online and it said, “Hey, you’re gonna go to Drain Masters. Here’s your number but they should call you.” Since I had to turn my water off to the house, I called them around an hour and a half after. This was a Friday night and they said it was not in as an emergency and even if it was, they couldn’t help me until Tuesday.
The woman from Drain Masters said that she would call American Home Shield back and have them change it to emergency status and work from there. I was supposed to get a callback within four hours from someone to bid on coming to help me over the weekend, but that never happened that night. I called Saturday morning as soon as the line opened. We had to wait until eight o’clock to call. Someone was telling me that they got eight plumbers and they called all of them, but haven’t heard from anybody who would take my call. I had until 24 hours to hear from someone before they can do it outside authorization, so I waited longer throughout the day.
One of my neighbors recommended a different plumber, so I called back later. Drain Masters called again at around two o’clock on Saturday and said that they were calling back about the issue. The person didn't know that I had already talked to them about the same problem and they said that they still couldn’t come out until Tuesday. I asked, “In an emergency, how is that acceptable?” She said, “Well, I really can’t answer that.”
I called back and I finally talked to someone who was helpful and she said that they were supposed to get a callback within four hours and someone was supposed to be at our house within 24 hours, not wait for a callback within 24 before they can authorize outside authorization. She made it so that I could have one of the plumbers that weren’t on their list come to help me, but he still couldn’t come until Monday morning which got a bit quicker, at least. So I still had to send in that invoice and hopefully, that process will be smooth.
It was frustrating but something that would be helpful would be to put somewhere on the website that it is an emergency or that it should be done quicker. I’m gonna be without water for four days. There can be some process improvement on the front end because it is easy to put in the claim on the website, but for something that I didn’t really wanna wait a week for, there was not a really easy way to request a quicker service.

I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. I called them for an electrical wire issue with our air conditioner and their claims reps did good. They are always great when I get ahold of them. But on some days, it is difficult to get ahold of them. I also have another complaint. AHS sent two different people to work on my garage doors. The doors both go up and go down when I push the button. But when it goes up, the chain rattles against the metal thing and it makes a very loud noise. Then the other side won’t stay on my opener and I’ve had the technicians out here a couple of times. The light is also blinking inside so I changed the bulb of one of the lights thinking the bulb was out. But the bulb won’t come on.
The first guy that came out had to come back out again for the right door. He fixed the left door, and now it’s rattling. He told me to call him back if I have any problems so I was thinking about doing it so he can come out here. But overall, I'm okay with AHS. I’ve been a member a little over a year and I have recommended them and shared my experiences to a couple of people telling them that AHS does good work and saved me a lot of money.

After I submitted a claim online, I called American Home Shield to see if there was any local contractor because I had seen that the one they picked was from about 45 minutes away from me. They said that everybody else in the area was busy and that was what they could do, and it worked out fine. The contractor from Cook-Craftsman Enterprise came out for my electrical issue and he had to get a part from Oklahoma City. That was on a Friday and he came back on Monday and fixed it. He was very polite and everything was fine.

The AC wasn't cooling. I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim and their reps were able to assist me right away and find my account number. They really took care of it and booked the appointment. I also got a text message about the name of the company and the day after I filed the claim, the contractor called me to make an appointment. The contractor who then came was very friendly, understanding, compassionate and informative. He didn’t belittle me as a woman. He just made sure that he explained what to do. He showed me what to expect with my air-conditioner and to pay attention to certain things about it, especially the filter.
The main thing right now is, I had an issue with my electrical box. A microwave, a stove, a refrigerator and new washer and dryer is connected to it. It's tripping so it needs to be bigger, and AHS got the electrician right away. The guy left a message saying that if I had any more questions or concerns about what American Home Shield covers for me, I could call. However, now it seemed like I needed something additional to the electrical box. I just got a call today, saying that American Home Shield does not cover that so I would have to pay out of pocket for that. And it's frustrating me because I felt like if it’s an electrical deal to where the appliance is tripping the electrical box, they should ask what more they can do. Maybe they can have it torn apart or they could pay for the labor -- anything that would assist me. They were there to take care of it before the one year. After the one year, if something’s wrong with the electrical box, it’s on me.

When my dishwasher was totally dysfunctional, I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. I’ve filed claims before and sometimes I get a little resistance on it. But now, they were willing to work and we had an agreement on how everything’s going to go and everything went smoothly. It took them two days to send out a contractor. The contractor looked at the dishwasher and came out with a game plan. They discussed with me what was going on and what the possibilities were, and I told them what my concerns were, and they were very open to the fact that we could work something out. It was an excellent interaction. We ended up buying a new appliance and American Home Shield did a deductible, so it worked out good for both of us.

The air conditioner's drip pan which is located in the attic was not level and when it was getting full, it was tilting and not being able to drain correctly. The first time I had the problem, we were on vacation and when we came back, the ceiling was soaked right over my son's bedroom. Also, the water seeped through the fixture so we got in touch with American Home Shield. We submitted the claim online and they had Affordable Air Conditioning come out. The contractor had to put Freon and did some things that were not covered by the warranty.
It worked for about a day. They had to come out two more times and today is the third time. The next two times that I submitted the claim, I had to call them. We were on vacation again after it was supposed to have been fixed and when we returned, we came into a swelteringly hot house again. That was Sunday and finally, the contractor came today and did the work. The house is cooling now. The guy that initially did the installing came and he said that he was 99% sure that whatever he did today would work. If not, he would come out himself, take it out again and figure it out. So far, so good.
It was easy to submit the claim online. Within 24 hours, I got an email response where they had assigned the claim to Affordable Air Conditioning. The contractor was professional to a certain degree but they were not on time. I was given a window which was between 7:00 until 10:00 in the morning the first time but they did not come. The second time, I was told it would be between 12:00 and 3:00 and they showed up around 5:00. Today, they told me between 12:00 and 3:00 and they got here maybe about 2 o’clock. Each time, I was told that there was a job that they were working on and they were trying to wrap it up. Plus, the driving time had to be figured in so consequently, it was way off. Other than that, overall, I'm most satisfied with American Home Shield. Whenever I call them, they were professional and sympathetic to the situation.

American Home Shield charges double for a service call than what I used to pay to my previous home warranty and I still need to see if it's gonna be worth it. The most recent claim I had with them was for the dispenser of my icemaker. I had them send someone out and the first guy who came didn't ask many questions and just told me that the issue was not under warranty and he wasn't gonna fix the unit. But then it turned out that the problem wasn't the warranty and he had the part that has fallen off, he just didn't bother asking me.
American Home Shield then reassigned my ticket to the next company. That company came out and I gave them the part that had fallen down and the guy fixed it. He didn't fix it right the first time but then they came back right away the next day and fixed it proactively. I wasn't at home when the contractors came since I work Mondays to Fridays so I had to have them get my door unlocked. They said they would then call me right after they leave and they would let me know what happened. The second company was really good and everything was great. Since the repair, the unit has been working fine.

My refrigerator ice maker was not working and my washing machine would start over after it ran through its complete cycle and wouldn't shut down completely. I submitted the claim online with American Home Shield and I was contacted promptly the next day by the repairman. The guy who came replaced the ice maker and that immediately fixed the problem.
Then he ran the washer completely through a cycle and it restarted itself again, so he could see what happened. He checked everything he could on it and the only thing he can figure out was it had to be on the computer motherboard inside the washer that wasn't working properly and he had to order that part. He proceeded to do that and he called us as soon as he got it. A couple of days later, the part came, he installed it, ran the washer through its cycle, and it worked fine. The repairman was very professional. He explained everything he was doing and took care of the problems. The American Home Shield service was great and the response was quick.

We just love American Home Shield. We've been with them for approximately two years and we’ve had a few contractors come out. One was Gator Plumbing and we would never recommend that company. AHS took care of the problem and sent Boyd out, who took care of everything very well. Also, when the shower did not work and the flow of the water would not come out of the showerhead, the guy who came was very accurate and thorough. He did the work and did a good job. We submit claims over the phone and AHS usually answers quickly. Sometimes, if they’re busy and we had to wait on hold for more than five minutes, we're really surprised.
Last week, we put a claim in for our pool. Our pool guy came and took pictures. And we haven't heard anything back from him. My husband has to let him know that there’s something about the tablet. Additionally, we paid a $75 fee for our pool. I told them specifically that our pool was losing water. Why would they charge us $75 when they didn’t fix water-related issues? We were also told that if we use AHS again for our air conditioner and we lose all of our antifreeze, they're only gonna cover $10 per pound. And if we lose all the Freon in our coolant system, it's gonna cost us almost $1000.

I call American Home Shield when submitting a claim and they've always sent somebody out. Whatever company they have contracted comes out right away. I stay with AHS because I don’t like to have problems. I like my things to get resolved and I like to be able to call. I don’t like to have to be calling them back. If I gotta be calling back a service repeatedly to do the same work because they're not coming out, chances are that I won't stay with them. That being said, my most recent claim experience with American Home Shield was good and the contractor came in a timely manner. However, I need to call them back because the fridge is melting the ice. That was one of the reasons that I called them out. The icemaker was making ice but at the bottom of the freezer where it shouldn't be. Also, it wasn’t making the ice solid so I have a bit a puddle where I get the ice from.
We're a family that likes to eat ice, so our ice is very soft and we're constantly having to clean the puddle or make sure that there's something there to catch that ice that's melting on the inside and it could be a bit of a hassle. The Freon at the bottom is not making ice like the old refrigerator used to do. That was taken care of but the ice is still not staying frozen solid to where it's not melting through the door. Nevertheless, I have had excellent service with American Home Shield and I'm very satisfied. All my family members have it.

My wife is not a computer-oriented person so she always talks to the people at American Home Shield when submitting a claim. She likes to talk to people and say exactly what the problem is. But we’ve had a little problem with American Home Shield. When my wife had a problem with the oven, she had somebody come out through American Home Shield but he couldn’t fix it. So he said he had to get a part and after about a week, he finally came back. The part worked but the problem was the proper heat couldn’t be maintained. He said, “I guess all the ovens are supposed to work within a range of 10 percent.” In other words, if you set the oven to 350, the temperature can be down to 300 and it would show that it’s supposed to be at 350. My wife wasn’t very happy about that one.
Then when the air conditioning stopped working altogether, American Home Shield referred a company to us but they were not equipped to work on our air conditioner. So American Home Shield sent another air conditioning company but it took another four days to set up for an appointment. When the contractor came out, they didn’t seem to be totally equipped to check the air conditioner either. They had to come back a couple of times and they didn’t seem to know exactly how to fix the problem. So rather than fix the thermostat on the wall, they said that they would have to replace it which was okay with us.
Finally, they got the air conditioner to work. But although it was running, it didn’t distribute the air throughout the house. It wasn’t going to the bedroom where we want the air conditioner to be the best. They said that it's too far away from the air conditioning unit but when I asked them to check the ducts, they told me that if the air conditioning unit was working when they left, then that was it. We're unhappy about that as well. But before these last couple of issues, we’ve had good luck with American Home Shield's subcontractors. We’ve used them for about eight years now and in every house we’ve bought, we’ve always said that we love American Home Shield. It’s the company we use and we’ll keep using them.

But he did all the repair from the front and it was simple for him.

We came home one day and there was some water in my garage. Though the water heater didn't blow out, something was leaking water. I filed the claim online to American Home Shield and got an immediate notification that they would be taking care of it or that a water company would be reaching out to me soon. I went ahead proactively and turned off the breaker to the hot water tank to disconnect it from the water line. I also drained it to try and mitigate any further damage. But then, 16, 18 hours later, I still haven’t heard from anyone. I called American Home Shield and asked them if I could use a different plumbing company ‘cause I had used one from them say six months prior and they were much more responsive. But then, they said that they had to give their contractor 24 business hours to respond. 24 business hours is like three days and I’m not waiting three days to get my water heater serviced.
I asked AHS why I couldn't use another contractor and they just said that it was their policy. By the time their other company called me, they said they couldn’t be out for several more days. So I called American Home Shield back and said that their company wouldn't even come out for a couple of days. My situation was an emergency of sorts. We had no hot water. Plus the way our house was built, we couldn’t get water pressure to anything but the sinks when we turned off the water heater. When a new plumber came out, he agreed that we wouldn't be able to shower and do dishes.
Still AHS said that they couldn’t pay for emergency services to come out because my situation was not an emergency. They would only consider it an emergency if the water was damaging my home. So, because I was proactive and stopped the damage from occurring, I now had to wait three days for service. I asked their guy if they would send somebody if I go out, turn the breaker back on and let the water flow all over the house. He told me that they would but he wouldn't advise it.
Last year, I filed a claim for the same heater. While it wasn't leaking, it stopped heating. That claim went very well and the plumbing company sent by AHS was super responsive. They texted me within minutes of filing the claim and were out within hours. More recently, I called AHS because I had an AC unit that wasn't working properly. I remembered reading a clause in their contract about maintenance work not being covered. As I was unsure of their definition of my scenario I called to inquire whether they would consider adding refrigerant to the unit maintenance or service.
However, the gal from AHS whom I talked to could not give me an answer. She just wanted me to file the claim, spend $125 to send somebody out only to tell me that the work wasn't covered. I asked her to find out whether it was considered maintenance or service and she put me on hold for 20 minutes and never got back to me. I decided to forget it. I had an AC guy in my office at the time because my AC unit there also went out at around the same time. I had him come out, fill my Freon up and that was it. So, my last couple of experiences with AHS have not been fantastic.

I made a ticket through AHS website and then they assigned a contractor to it. They also told me that the contractor should be reaching out to me within 24 hours. However I didn't hear anything. This was my first service call with American Home Shield and I’m not happy.

My experience with American Home Shield hasn't been bad and the interaction with their staff has been fine. However, the thing I don’t like about it is that if I have a problem, I call them, and AHS doesn't wanna commit to saying that they're gonna cover it unless somebody comes over there. And the problem is that if somebody sets foot on the property, then I'm committed to the deductible. Anytime I've called them up, I've always tried to be very accurate with what's going on. The specifics with them is vague on what's covered, so it's always a hard race just a bit when somebody comes over.
The contractors that come here have been fine, except for one particular guy where his assessment was so far off the mark. Another thing is that their hold times are too long. I wanna talk to somebody because I wanna get something on the record in case I do have to dispute. It happened once where I was told that something was covered, and I was very clear about what was going on, but then it turned out that it wasn’t covered. It was only because of a recording that I got reimbursed the 75 bucks.
What I always tell people is that even if they break even on it, they still are a winner because most people wanna save. Theoretically, they would have that money saved in any day. So if they're paying this little monthly payment, then surprises can be handled at $75 per surprise, most people can handle that, and so AHS gets stuck with a lot of people a time on calls.

Our stove was not working properly. The contractor AHS sent came in in May and still, the problem has not been solved. One time, the parts were wrong and the other time, a person that came to fix it said it was not repairable. He told us that it needed to be changed but he told American Home Shield that it needed to be repaired. So they still haven’t resolved it. Now, we only have the one part working so it’s very difficult to work.
Yesterday, AHS said that they were going to send him an email asking him if the stove is repairable or if it has to be replaced but in the meanwhile, they ordered the parts so I’m kind of confused. This is just one incident but it’s taking a long time but the rest of my experience with AHS has been very nice and easy. The contractors are also usually very professional and they do a great job too.

We will have been with American Home Shield for about four years this September, and when we first had them, we had a couple of technicians that were not good and didn’t do a good job. We had an issue with the dishwasher and the technician that was sent came from a great distance and he said that he did not do dishwashers and that he did plumbing instead. It was a misdirect and he was not very nice and he did not try to accommodate.
The second man that came out put about $900 to $1500 worth of material into our dishwasher. He did not check it out as early as the ones that did recently. The dishwasher goes through the cycles, but it still did not get the dishes clean and has not since we have lived here. They also would not approve a new dishwasher. Then, two men came, checked the dishwasher and found out why it was not cleaning the whole works. They really gave it a good work-through and they were very helpful. Right now, they are replacing the dishwasher for me.
In addition, a pipe came loose under the sink recently. I filed the claim over the phone and they told me what to do. They sent Scotty’s Plumbing and I liked their attitude and willingness. The first time they came, it did not work, so I called them and they came right back. They had to do some other work that they did not realize they had to. They also said that they would not charge me. They were very prompt at coming, very pleasant and thorough. My one recommendation for American Home Shield is that they get people that are as close to the destination as possible. It’s disturbing that technicians came from away and they did not do anything, and we had to pay the extra amount for the call. Other than that, I’ve been satisfied with AHS. It costs a lot, but it will be worth it.

I absolutely loved them. They showed up early and they were great people, and they talked with my terms, non-plumber terms, so I knew what they were saying and it was nice. We got hot water and it's been perfect since the repair. American Home Shield is good.

I went online to submit a claim with American Home Shield for the air conditioning problem. The AC unit would just come on for a little while, and then it would shut off. Also, it would run but it wouldn't cool. AHS called somebody out and then I called the contractor and told them what was going on. The contractor was out there for 10 minutes but then he said that the AC was working fine. Luckily, I was able to fix the AC myself 'cause the contractor wouldn’t come back out. I submitted to the AHS website about rating the people and stuff that I did, but I never heard back from them. On the other hand, AHS had done a good job on the first claim I had. My pool heater was messed up and they fixed it. The people that came out were awesome. I'm pleased with my experience with AHS and I would recommend them to others.

I usually call the 800 number when I submit claims and the representatives are okay. While the technicians are fine, the last company we had was really busy and we didn't have a washing machine for over a week. When they finally came out, they said that they would have to order the parts. Then I called American Home Shield and they said, "Oh, whenever that happens, if they can't come out within 2 to 3 days, call us." But I didn't know that. The repair company said that they had already ordered the part so I stayed with them. We were out for 2 weeks with the washing machine, but it is fixed now.

And so far, the contractors that AHS sent us have been amazing. The only troubles we've ever had with them has been their schedules. They are too busy and they can't get to us in a timely manner. We even had a few times when we asked AHS to see if they could find us somebody else. But we've been satisfied with our contractors and what they have done. I filed the claim online when the AC unit wasn’t cooling properly. I had a contractor out here within two days and he was really personable. He knew what he was talking about and what he was doing. My problem was fixed pretty fast and he was on his way. It was a great experience and everything has been fine since the repair. Kudos to everybody in the whole process. I recommend American Home Shield to anybody. My father-in-law told me about it and I kinda pass the information along. It’s been a dependable and useful service for me. My gutters need to be replaced before the rainy season comes back. The water that was supposed to go down out of a drip pan down a drain tube all the way out to the side of the house doesn't drain safely into the yard. It was leaking out of that area. I’m a do-it-yourselfer but since I have American Home Shield I used it and I’m not terribly pleased with my experience. They worked really great with my work schedule and mechanically they did a fine job but they were in such a hurry. They didn’t stay long enough to make sure everything really was good to go. It was just go out, fix the one problem and walk away as quickly as possible before you see another problem. That was kinda how I felt in the end.
He fixed the clogged line but what it ended up being was a cracked line as well. Had he waited he probably would have noticed it was cracked. So none of the problem has been resolved. I tried to contact the mechanical agency again because they said, “Just call us directly if there’s any issues.” I never got a word back from them. So now I don’t care. I’ll just go fix it myself and save all the money.
The claims process is fine, but my overall issue is when I told AHS not to pay the guy. They said they couldn't do that so I said, “Well, then refund it to me because they didn’t fix it.” And they said, “Well, we can’t do that.” I said, “Well, do I need to go through my credit card company?” And they said, “You can do that.” I said, “Okay, I’ll do that.” AHS emailed the company but I never heard back so yesterday I called Chase, my credit card company and told them to stop payment on that bill. They’re not gonna get that money. By not answering back any phone calls just shows the company that they went through shouldn’t have been used. That company have terrible reviews. I knew that before they even came to my house, but I’ll give anybody a chance. However, I’m not sure how I feel about the Home Shield plan now. I’m more irate about it.
If AHS knew that there was still a problem, emailing a company to get it fixed doesn’t fix it. They should have said, “Well, why don’t we send somebody else out now? And it won’t cost you $80,” or “We can’t refund you your money, but we can send another person out, or that same person out.” And none of that happened. It was just like, “Let’s just send an email.”
Over the years, it’s nickeled and dimed out to the bidders and the work ethic is following suit. So I don’t think I’m gonna renew my warranty because most of my things are at end-of-life anyway. I might as well just replace my AC unit up front instead of spending $500 thinking about it going every year. That’s my only real expense at this point. My garage door mechanism doesn’t really work but for $80 they’ll come out and maybe fix it. For $150, I get a brand-new one, put it up in an hour and a half. So it’s not really worth it for me.
If you’re buying a used home where everything is possibly gonna break on you over a year, I’d say get AHS for a year, especially when it’s free with the home purchase. But after that, you gotta weigh your options. What is the cost of the new AC unit? It’s $5000. $500 a year to limp along, but it’s $80 dollars every time they come out to look at it. So $5000 can be whittled away pretty quickly over several years.

My problem with the AC started about a month ago. I submitted the claim with American Home Shield online and I told them that the fan motor was going out. The technician went out here, checked the AC and it was working. He said that he couldn't condemn it because it was working. A couple of days went by, the fan went out again. I gotta wait another week and by the time the technician went out there, the fan was working and he couldn't condemn it. I spoke with AHS and they wanted to send me another tech from another company, but they wanted to charge me another $75 to which I said no since I already paid for it. So, they went back with the same company. The third time, they condemned it because the fan motor wasn't working.
The technicians were really good and knowledgeable. I'm a mechanic, so I know what their experience is about. If I can't duplicate the problem, I can't fix it. But they should have been able to make a note about the possibility of the fan motor going out and let everybody know what was going on, so at least, the warranty company would have already had the knowledge about the possibility of the fan motor going out and they would be ready.
I have elderly people with me that have a heart condition and it was tough for my parents not to have AC. I was talking to my dad about calling me on Monday, then talking to AHS about the situation because my monthly payment is there on time and I don't see why they gotta go through that. I know everything goes through a protocol, but they need to work under their protocol a little better as to how things are prioritized. I don't have any issues other than it has been taking too long. I'm very disappointed.

A very gracious and well-spoken gentleman came out and he explained the situation as far as the stoppage of the sink themselves. He cleared out the sinks from stopping up and there wasn’t any conversation about the leaks but at the end of it, when he said that he would leave, I took his word that he had checked underneath the sinks and tightened everything up and that everything was good. When I came down the next morning, the underneath of the sink had flooded. I then called the company and had them come back out. The man came back out and fixed the issue and it hasn’t been leaking since then.
I’m frustrated with AHS though. There are certain things that we expected were covered that weren’t. We've been with American Home Shield since we moved into the house at least six years ago. Recently, our AC was not blowing at all, so we submitted a claim for it online. We put it on Friday night and the contractor, Hansen Mechanical, said that they'd be here on Monday. But they didn't show up until Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Then, after 10 minutes of being here, the tech said he needed to order a part. A contractor had been out a month earlier and they said it was a bad capacitor. They put that in and it lasted for three weeks. The person who came out this time said that the fan was bad and it was what was blowing the capacitor. They also said that it should have been replaced the first time.
However, the tech didn't come back until the following Tuesday to put the fan in. We have a named brand unit that was not off the wall but to get just the fan part didn't seem like it should have taken five days. Aside from that, the fan was available that Friday but they didn't work on the weekend, so we were in dead-end until Monday before they came out. It was 97 degrees here at that time, plus, I didn't like that they responded within 48 or 72 hours from reporting until anybody showed up to the house and another full week to get the problem fixed. So, it was not a good experience. But everything seems to be working on the AC properly since that final time that the contractor came out.

I am so dissatisfied with my American Home Shield (AHS) experience. I've used them for two, almost three years now and they are terrible. I have a geothermal-powered air conditioning unit. I've called them four times to fix it. First time they sent the incorrect company (they can't fix geothermal). The second time I was dispatched a company and fortunately, I had the forethought to ask if they repaired geothermal units. They answered negatively.
The third time I called, I was supposed to hear back from a company they dispatched, but I never received a call. I then called a fourth time, they apologized, but they can't find anyone to fix my system. They wanted me to authorize a third-party vendor. Simply put, they needed me to give a vendor of my choosing, a dispatch number, have the vendor give the dispatch number to AHS, pay out of pocket for the repairs, have the vendor verify the work with VIDEO, then they would decided whether they would pay for the work. Meanwhile, I have to call back and forth, fill out paperwork and mail it to AHS...
Bullocks to that!!! I pay for a home warranty so I don't have to do **! I pay on time and they're supposed to repair or replace my stuff. I made three phone calls to AHS this week and have been on the phone with them for three hours! They hung up on me at least three times after long waiting periods. The managers are never available and their customer services hardly speak English. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a victim of fraud.

Worst service, 30 min to 2 hour waits JUST on the phone to get someone, repeatedly hung up on/disconnected which means wait time actually is closer to 5-6 hours and most of your day. AND THEN they argue with you. They "SAY" 24-48 hrs for a tech to come and that techs are limited in Tucson AZ (HVAC) which is a complete and utter lie. Obtained EIGHT quotes to replace compressor and HVAC with 2 days ON MY OWN! GOING THRU AHS took 8 days for a tech who then said it would take "AHS" 2-4 weeks to order/process and approve the work. Additionally, the $75 charge didn't include 7 lbs of r-22 refrigerant which is 1400 extra dollars NOT covered by AHS, they paid $10 per pound, leaving me with $1330 to pay, plus their lousy fee. AHS sucks, 100% sucks and is a worthless purchase and waste of time. DO NOT BUY THEIR COVERAGE or products.

My AC has not been working since last 20 days. They assigned my case to Perry Mechanical and I got an appointment two days from the date of request. First time the technician did not show up and was told he is sick. Got another appointment after few days. The technician showed up this time did some repair and left saying everything is fine. To our surprise next day morning the AC was down again.
We again asked for an appointment and got the appointment for yesterday (Approx 5 days later from the date of request). The technician called and said, "Heading your way now," however he did not show up for the appointment and his phone was directly going to voicemail. The contractor's office was closed by then. Today again I got another appointment with 4 days gap. "I will never recommend them as they keep on taking money without providing service." And by the way I have been paying them since last 7 months and this was my first call to them.
Good afternoon Anil,
I understand that you have multiple concerns that need to be addressed regarding the contractors dispatched to you and the AC repairs that need to be completed. I would be glad to speak with you and help get the issues resolved.

We had some things done by American Home Shield at a previous property that we just sold. We called them to make some claims on things that were in the inspection. They've been very efficient and everything was done ASAP. The contractor called and let us know when they were coming out. Everything was wonderful and really smooth, and the repairs were done fast. Moreover, everyone has been great.

Ac is working today.
Original Review: June 30, 2018
I requested service when my AC have the weak airflow upstair on 5/25, AHS assigned me with South Placer Air and Heat, one of the vendor. They visited us twice and can’t find the problem. I called AHS they said they can’t do anything about that. My ac eventually stopped working on 6/26, AHS forced to use the same vendor, unless I pay another deductible. I scheduled they come tomorrow 6/30, live with my upstair uncooled in 1 month and whole house uncooled in 1 week. And if they can’t fix it tomorrow, I think I have to go with outside vendor.
I still don’t understand how I have to pay monthly and deductible with AHS while the vendor can’t fix my AC and I forced to use the same vendor while they can diagnose the issue which lead to the completed broken down of my AC, while they can fix it from beginning. PS: Ac is still not working now. 103 outside in California with an 2 month olds infant inside the house. AHS don’t care about my problem I guess.

When our air conditioner wasn't running, my wife logged onto our online account to put in a claim request with American Home Shield. An email came back and said that a local contractor had been contacted and that they would contact us. They did. They came out the same day and replaced the capacitor for the compressor. Everything went well and the problem was fixed very shortly.

Both of our faucets in our master bathroom had slow drips. For a week or two, we would turn the water off below the sink. It got a bit old and we were hoping something would go away and we tried a little cleaning on the faucet, changing the little filters, but it kept continuing. So, we called American Home Shield. Their claims process was very quick which surprised me. That same day, the things got referred on and then we got a call trying to schedule a time. I was trying to push it off for another Friday, where I have every other Friday off. But they said it was over so many days and they’d have to resubmit a new work order. I wanted to get it done so I went ahead and adjusted my schedule.
The contractor was out within a few days, narrowed the issue down to only the hot water on both of the sinks, put whatever new thing that they needed inside, and everything was repaired. The contractor was nice and very good. He came out, did his business and he was done within an hour. Everything went better than what I thought it would.
Thanks for sharing your AHS warranty experience Stephen. We look forward to handling your future warranty needs. Have an amazing week.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my washer recently. I did it over the phone and my interaction with the rep was good. The contractor, East Electronics, was sent out and a service was scheduled for the issue. But when the techs came to deliver my washer, I had the impression that they were going to install it on the same day, but they told me that they had to come on a reappointment later. If I knew it would be that way, I would have scheduled everything better. Even so, everything has been working well since the repair.

I submitted an online claim with American Home Shield for keys and random electrical stuff I wanted them to check out that I wasn’t aware of. It was extremely easy navigating through their page. AHS then notified me right away via email that it had been accepted and who accepted it. The person contacted me within whatever timeframe and we set it up and they came out. The first contractor, the key one, did a great job. Then, the electrical one couldn’t fix my issue but they were helpful coming out. It's an old house so it's not really their fault. They were fine. So far, it has been a pleasant and thorough experience with AHS.

We had a washing machine claim for the exact same problem submitted to American Home Shield three times and it will be the third time that they have come out to try to repair it which sounded like an airplane taking off. It was spinning but it’s really loud. It was a GE washer and AHS sent three different people. The first time it was not a GE person, but the next ones were GE service people. The first and third guy were very outgoing. They told me what was going on and when the part would be in. The second guy had to come twice with each trip because he needed a part and he didn't have it on their truck. I work 35 minutes from where I live and I had to take a couple of hours off of work. Then once the parts got here, he came in and did it again. But on each time, the three of them replaced what I seem to think the exact same part. It’s been two months now and no problems yet but we're hoping that whatever the technician did this time will work.
We've had American Home Shield for three years and each year, I've had increases in my monthly premium. When our garage door wouldn’t go up and down, a very nice man came out and said that it didn't come under my coverage. I’m not an electrical person to count for anything so when he said that he had to replace it and it’s not covered, I don’t know if what he replaced was what was not covered. And it cost me another 250 bucks. Other than that, American Home Shield does come out. It was expensive but it was nice.

Our washing machine was doing a violent movement when it was on the spin cycle where it actually would move itself across the floor. We had one vendor through American Home Shield come out and said the problem was the floor. And I had a contractor come out and another structural engineer looked at the subbasement and said the floor was fine.
I requested a second opinion and from that, the Sears people contracted through A&E. They came out and said the problem was in the system, the springs that hold the drum and also like a shock absorber. In trying to fix that, the technician broke one of the feet that was on the pedestal and so the thing was sitting on three feet and a wooden board that I had. The washer was not getting fixed and we had a total of seven visits from the Sears people. Their problem was that they couldn’t find the pedestal.
We sent a video of the washing machine to the local representative for AHS to show how violent it was and a history of the visits. The person came back and said they would not be able to fix it. They gave us a fixed dollar amount to replace it, so we’ve replaced the unit with the same washer but a newer model, and it has worked out fine.
The whole thing could've been done quicker, but because of the availability of the technician's schedule along with our traveling where the next scheduled event was due for a week that we were out of town and we had to move it back to when we got back into town, it wound up being about three months. Still, I am very satisfied with my experience with American Home Shield. It took only about a week for us to receive the amount and although they didn't fix the washer, by replacing the machine, that fixed the problem.

We filed an air conditioning claim to American Home Shield and had a great experience. The representative who assisted me on the phone was lovely. It was my first dealing with Complete Residential Services. However, the technician who first came out got sick and he actually had to leave and go to the hospital. Then, someone from his office called me back within a couple of hours and that was terrible because they had to leave all the equipment in their truck. They called back in a couple of hours and made arrangements for someone to come out the first thing next morning, and they took care of everything. Everyone was great, from the receptionist to the technicians that I've actually met with. In fact, I'm gonna make them my HVAC company. I would absolutely recommend AHS.

The hot water faucet in the master bathroom stopped working. I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield and within 24 hours, I got an email advising me who they assigned the issue to. The contractors came and I didn't have a problem with their work. The house is an older one and the washer in the cut-off valve on the hot water faucet had disintegrated. When they turned it off to repair on their visit, it had broken up. But they got the water back on, I got hot water out of the faucet, and they left. However the next day the faucet got clogged up again from what I assumed was the disintegrated washer. So we had to call them again. They came back and it was not as fast as I would have liked, but they cleaned it out and I had hot water running again. But later in the week, when I was shaving, I had the hot water turned on, and all of a sudden, it’s a tiny little trickle again.
I called and had it reordered again, and the contractors had reported back to American Home Shield and their opinion was it was not related to the issue of no water coming out of the faucet. It was a secondary problem that was not covered by my warranty. So they reported that I needed to buy a new faucet and that they would come back and install the faucet for a fee, if that’s the way I wanted to go. They left it up to me to decide. We then called the contractors and we told them that we would get the faucet. We asked when they could come back, but they're booked until next Tuesday. All in all, I like AHS' service and I'm very satisfied with what I got with them. They pay attention to whatever the issue is.

They said they work on Saturdays and when I called the contractor, they said they don't. I got mad because it was the AC and it was hot. I wanted another contractor but AHS told me that once I've put the claim, I cannot change it. But the contractor came over on Monday right away.
Also, I had a claim for my microwave. I thought it was the microwave, but it was the plug where the microwave is connected that got rusted and it was because of a leak. They came over with the Leak Doctor, a company down in Central Florida, but they couldn’t find it. Now, the next step is removing the cabinets to see if the leak is on the walls.

The automated person is like, "Oh, just call here." "Dial 1," or "Dial 2," or "Save what you have." I have been an AHS user for a couple of years now and I will still use them. They just need to work on the automated person. I filed my claim on a weekend and two days after I did that, Calibrated Service Company came out. I started to submit a claim online with American Home Shield, but I didn’t finish it, so I called them. My experience with the claims reps was great. They had to make a note that if they had to go up under the house, it needs to be a really small person because the opening is really small. The rep put that in. I tried to put in two things when I went online which was the pipe that had a leak, but it would not allow me to put both. It only allowed me to put one. But she was able to add the other one in. Once I filed the claim, I got a confirmation from KMS Plumbing in less than 45 minutes after and then later that evening, I got another confirmation saying what day they'd be out. They came the next day.
There was a stoppage in my kitchen because the water wouldn’t go down the sink. We tried plunging and none of that worked. We thought the pipe under the sink had a crack in it and when the plumber checked it out, it didn’t have a crack. He had to put a rubber seal in there where it was leaking. He used a snake and it cleared it straight out. He was very professional and very sweet. He did a great job and he did what he was supposed to. He even cleaned up and made sure he didn’t leave a mess. I had water all in the bottom of my sink even though I had taken everything out and he made sure that it was like nothing had ever happened.
It was a great experience. It was our first time filing a claim because we just got American Home Shield a couple of months ago and never had to file one. It could wind up being something major on our unit and if something went out with that, we've got to come up with several thousand dollars. I told my husband that we could call a plumber to come out. They will charge us about an hour and it could be more than what we had to pay which is $125. The warranty was worth it and very convenient.

The water heater ran out and I called American Home Shield. They sent a plumber out who told me that the issue was just a dip tube and that it didn’t need to be replaced. So he fixed it and it worked fine. The water heater ran out again so we made a claim and he came and said that it’s not the water heater. He blamed it on the shower. There was too much water coming out so water was running through the water heater faster than it should have. So he gave us a cheap little shower head that would minimize the flow. We had a three-gallon sprayer and he gave us the one gallon. He shrunk the amount of water so that worked but after that, one of the shower faucets started leaking. The pressure building up on the smaller shower head was coming back down underneath so the hot water kept running out, and now, there’s a shower faucet leaking.
So I called AHS for a third claim and I let the contractor know what happened. He took about a minute and said that when somebody messed up my shower faucet, it cracked the pipe. I told him that if there was a cracked pipe, then it would leak when the shower is off. He said that if he fixes it, he needs to redo the whole shower and tear down the wall to get to it and that all the work is gonna be $1400. I can tell that he was gonna decline it so he left and then I got a call that the claim got declined due to misuse and abuse. I explained to AHS that I just bought the house and this house was built in 1940. We just moved in March and I haven’t done any work to the shower other than what the warranty work has done both two times.
I appealed American Home Shield’s decision to decline. They said that they might charge another $125 and I didn’t like that. But other than that, AHS handled it well. They timely managed it. They then sent somebody over and it was the same guy that came the first and second time and he listed it. He said that the third guy was wrong and that we can tell that the faucet is just wearing terribly. The faucet is the original 1940s faucet. He said that it is wear and tear and that the warranty should have covered it. He also said that it would only cost 400 if I pay that out of pocket. He fixed the faucet and we haven’t had any issues since.

Since 2016, we've had multiple claims through American Home Shield on our AC because it keeps leaking into our pan. We don’t know why and I don’t think it should be leaking. We've paid the deductible for people to come out and and every time, it's one little $5 fix. My pan was not good and they got me a new one. The last person who came out months ago left this cover on and they weren’t supposed to so the technician took the cover off. The last person put the cover in the wrong place so then the technician had to move it to the other place.
In the most recent one, the contractor said they fixed our primary drain, pressure-hosed and cleared it out. That way it wouldn’t go out of our secondary drain. But the issue wasn’t that the primary and the secondary drain weren’t working. The issue was that our AC shouldn’t be dumping that much water in the first place. So we had to call them back out. But we still haven't gotten that resolved and I'm not happy.
When we call American Home Shield, it's usually because water is pouring out our front door. It's actually caused damage to our ceiling. We noticed that the next time we called after the AC people came out and said they fixed it. So obviously, it's wasn’t fixed and it's even caused damage. I called American Home Shield at that point, complained and asked if they were gonna cover the damage because we were going through the company that they sent out. They said no, that we had to call the AC company and that they would deal with it. But the AC company said that wasn’t their fault, to talk to American Home Shield and that they would cover it. So everybody is pretty much pointing the finger to the other person and leaving us with the damage.
Overall, we're not that happy. Our house was 10 years old when we bought it and we got the home warranty in case the AC goes out. That was the biggest reason that we got the warranty for. I usually use the online thing to submit a claim and that’s easy to do, and they do send people out. But American Home Shield’s customer service is not the issue. It's who they are sending out, AC-wise. My sister got rid of the service already for the same issue with their AC. We're debating on even keeping it and I don’t think it's worth it. They've surpassed the four years that we've had them without resolving my same issue. We've been putting more money into the warranty than it would cost for us not to have it, call an AC person of our choice to come out and fix it the first time and not deal with all of this further damage.

The air conditioner was getting really loud. I filed a claim with American Home Shield on the phone and usually when I call them, I have a long wait. But this time, I didn't have a long wait. I've also submitted a claim online before and it seemed to go pretty smoothly. Somebody from Scott Heating & Air came out the next day and it worked out really well. He talked to me first to find out what was the problem then I showed him where the unit was. He went out there, diagnosed it, and fixed all at the same time. And he came in and told me that he had replaced the fan. Everything has been operating really well since the repair.
I'm glad I have AHS because I bought a new home and I didn't know what all my needs were. I also had some problems with the furnace and American Home Shield got that working better than the service I asked for from another company. So, I was happy with that. And I thought i was having problems with the hot water heater, but that ended up being resolved. I also had some issues with my bathroom faucet leaking all the time and I was able to have that as a cash-out, so the warranty also covered part of the repair on that.
But it was said that my garbage disposal was covered and American Home Shield didn't end up covering its replacement. The disposal was clearly not working and it wouldn't grind the good. I had to get somebody else to do it so, I was disappointed with that. So, even though I had some good service, I would tell others to look around because I had an extensive bill on the disposal which, in writing, should have been covered.

Our air conditioner was not working, so I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. I got an email or text right away telling me what company was coming and they came about a couple of days after, on Monday. However, they couldn’t test everything, so they sent back another guy on the 4th of July and he put Freon in. A capacitor was already changed on Monday, but I think the system should be replaced because this is the second time that the capacitor was replaced. But as far as the workers are concerned, they did what they were supposed to do. They were very professional and they did everything right away. So far, the unit is working okay, but it isn't able to keep up with the heat and I can feel the difference when I come in from the outside.
The system has been in there for a while. It’s the original system and the house was built in ’86. It doesn’t make any sense to keep going to repair this and repair that. It had to be at least two or three days that we had been hearing the buzzing. We went online to submit the claim to American Home Shield and it was easy. I logged into the website, there was a couple of pull downs and after hitting "Submit", there was a text message that popped up saying that somebody would call me shortly.
We submitted the claim on a weekend and somebody called on Monday and we had someone come out. The guy who came was an older gentleman and he asked me what was going on. It was hot this week and the air conditioner wasn’t cooling. We called American Home Shield and they sent a company called United. United opened the thermostat and all of a sudden, they realized that it was a Carrier Infinity and that they can't work on those. They told us that we had to call somebody else and left. AHS took a week then they assigned two other companies. I was able to ask those companies prior to them coming out if they service Carrier Infinity and they said they do not. AHS then gave us A-Advanced, who said that they could work on the unit.
A-Advanced came out and they found one part they said they thought was the problem. When they changed it, the unit started to cool. Then, when they opened up the thermostat, it fell off in their hands. Apparently, that first company had not put it back on right and they broke some wire in it. The techs from A-Advanced then left saying they have to get the part and it has been about a week now.
We've also had a lot of problems with this A-Advanced company. My husband talked to its owner and cleared things up then set an appointment for the fifth. My husband drove back to the house for an hour and a half for it and he waited three hours, but they never showed up. They said that the appointment was a mistake and that it should not have been set. The guy who called me was a little bit rude about it, too. He said that the thermostat might be fixed with a $15 part, and that they finally got it. They’re supposed to be coming this week but we have not heard back from them.
We've also been told by them and by American Home Shield that we would have to pay for whatever is wrong with the thermostat because they don’t cover that. That angers me a bit with American Home Shield because it was the first company they sent to my house that broke it. There was nothing wrong with that thermostat until they took it off. I have contacted AHS about the issue and they called me back yesterday. I told them where we stood and that we’re still here waiting on the guy to call us back with the part. This experience has been terrible and we’re two weeks without an air conditioner.
I have three homes and they all have American Home Shield on them. I have always recommended American Home Shield but now I'm concerned. They have gotten much better when it comes to their phone call because you can actually get through to them now, but the problem is that nobody is responsible for anything and they’re not able to do anything for me because of the rules. Also, I needed a simple repair on something not long ago and there were two companies that we’ve used in the past but they won’t work for AHS anymore.

The main issue with the washer before was that it would stop working and then I couldn’t get it going again. And also, one of the sections didn’t work, like the one I used all the time for nets. So, all of that stuff in there was replaced. A couple of weeks ago, I was trying to get my washing going and then it stopped again. I couldn’t get it going, so I let it sit for two to three hours. I went back and I got it going. But then the next day, it did it again, although it was in a different place. So, I called and set up the appointment with American Home Shield and the contractor came and looked at it.
However, it was working when they were here. They told me to call them and not do anything else the next time it does that. They told me not to try to get it to go so that they can see what’s wrong. They said they really couldn’t diagnose it if it wasn’t doing it at that particular time. I’m waiting to see and I have 30 days on that service fee to see about if it is going to continue to work or not.
So far, everything’s been good and we recommend American Home Shield to friends. We use it and we are happy with it so far. They have replaced some equipment and they get it handled quickly usually. Having a warranty on a property is useful, but, at times like this when a problem is hard to diagnose and we have already spent $200, a washing machine doesn’t cost that much. I’m hoping that this problem can get resolved before we have to pay another hundred in four or five months to get somebody in here again.
It depends on what appliance is going on and how many times people had to come back before it's issued that it needs to be replaced. I did that on my stove and they replaced my stove, but it took around six trips out here to get it finally handled. It’s situational. I’ve had some things that were done rapidly and some things that were dragged out but that depends on the situation. I’m glad we have the warranty because it helps me from having to try and find somebody to fix something. It’s convenient for me to have it because they handle it. I don’t wanna go shopping and I don’t wanna have to worry about delivery.

I usually submit claims online and navigating through American Home Shield's website is easy and pretty simple. And of those contractors who have come out, half of them were professional and half of them weren’t. Recently, American Home Shield assigned someone to fix my air conditioner but the contractor called me and said that they don’t fix our particular air conditioner. I was surprised that they don't fix all kinds of AC but that’s okay. I also filed a claim for an electrical issue but the problem went away so I cancelled the service. Still, having a warranty is very good.

We bought a new house and we wanted to make sure we were covered at the beginning for things that we didn’t know. Friends then recommended American Home Shield to us. We also did our homework and looked into other warranties but we decided to go with AHS based on reviews and personal reviews from friends. And they lived up to all of those for us. We're happy that we have them. Our drawer dishwasher has given us a fault code and our standalone icemaker was making ice nonstop. I submitted the claims online and I was surprised at how easy it was to do and how quick it was. We had a different home warranty before and it was not a good experience. We debated even getting a home warranty because of that. But we've had a whole different experience with AHS.
A guy from The Repair Shack then came and he was great and really friendly. They contacted me ahead of time and asked about what was going on. He also came with the parts. It was great because normally, a repairman shows up, gets an assessment, and then goes and orders parts. So it’s usually like a two-step process. There were still other parts that needed to be replaced but he had the parts that he thought needed to be replaced and it was great. I thought having AHS would just be a one-year thing to get us through possible major repairs that come when you move into an older house but we might end up keeping it because it seems to be worthwhile. I would recommend them to anybody else.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Andrea. Have an amazing week.

The washer was not filling with water when we put it on the normal cycle. Then the dryer was not turning off. It would be running and heating. The computer was just messed up. The lights were splashing all over the place and it wouldn’t turn off. I filed an online claim with AHS and it was easy. The contractor came right away the next day. He came in and described what he thought the problem was. Then he added some background on why it might have happened. He said he received a lot of calls about similar things because of the power fluctuations around Tampa. He solved the issue right then and also gave us some advice on how to maintain the equipment.
It was working well until recently. The power was out for a couple hours on Sunday. Now, the washing machine is not filling again and I’m a little concerned about that. They said they’d come out free of charge if we had a problem afterwards. It's within the month, so I can call them and I won’t have to pay the $75. It has only been a couple months since I've had AHS, but I feel good about having the warranty, especially because we just closed on the property in May and moved here.

I had a very good experience with American Home Shield. I had a problem where the freezer of my refrigerator would ice up. I submitted a claim over the phone and their reps were very nice. It didn't take long at all for them to get a contractor. They came out and fixed it and I thought it was fixed. But five months later it would ice up again. And it started doing it on the refrigerator side, icing up. So they came out again. This guy last time was from A&E and he seemed to know what he was doing, so hopefully, it's gonna stay fixed. Other than that, the contractor from Batten's Appliance doesn't want to work on Samsung. His name is Benjamin and when he was sent out, he didn't do anything. It made him mad when he found out it was a Samsung. So I told AHS not to send him back anymore. That's when they started sending A&E from Sears. And they were very professional and I had no problems with anything.
Thanks for taking the time to post your AHS experience. We look forward to handling your future warranty needs. Have an amazing week.

A couple of my toilets were not flushing so I contacted American Home Shield. It took them about a week to set up an appointment with me after submitting the claim online. I then got an email saying that the plumber was coming and that they would be giving me a call. They called me right after I got the email. The plumber was excellent and he did the repair in less than 30 minutes, and everything was done. The units have been excellent since the repair. Also, my garbage disposal was not working and the contractor came out and fixed it.

We made a plumbing claim with American Home Shield when the hose for the cold water supply had burst and there was a lot of water. I have a carpet runner in that room. So at first, I just felt a wet spot. And I didn’t realize it was coming from the sink. And then later, when I realized that it was coming from the sink, I mopped it up. And then I realized the carpet was wet. I pulled it up and then I saw how much water was on the floor and soaking into the walls. I called American Home Shield and their rep put the information in and said they would send a field assessor who then came a couple of days later. By the time they came in, the vanity had been removed and the floorboards for my appliances were in the living room. Dry Max did that. And they were referred by the plumbing service that responded to the call.
Dry Max also turned the water off. And then when the plumbers came, they went under the sink and they replaced the hose. I received a call from the insurance company that the claim had been settled, but there’s no check yet. And I can’t do anything until I have a check from the insurance company because from then, that’s when I'd get the contractor. But American Home Shield was good because they sent the people over. They're worth it. And having the warranty is much safer when you have to have work done because you’re not worried about whether or not the workers qualify or if they’re going to rip you off.

There was an issue with my AC and when I filed a claim with American Home Shield, the response was outstanding. I haven’t had the issue ever since and they did a great job. Everything is fine but the AC is not working with my alarm system. I used to adjust my heat using my alarm system but when the techs hooked them back, it’s not doing that.

At first, I filed an online claim with American Home Shield for my AC. It wasn't working and I wasn't sure it was an emergency so I canceled online and called over the phone. The rep was very professional and helped me out. Although, when I initially talked to them in March, they weren't professional. The contractor came on time but I wasn't satisfied with the service. He told me a part was needed and that it would take about a week's time to come. Then after that, they will schedule. It was a hot summer here so I called AHS and canceled the thing. I already paid for the contractor to come and check everything so, that was fine. But I don't want them to spoil that part because it was a waste of time for me. I contacted somebody who maintains my AC on a regular basis who came the same evening and installed the part.
About a month back, I had a problem with the toilet ring. The contractor fixed it and then, it was okay. When we moved into this house last March, the power went out. I called American Home Shield and the contractors came after two or three days. Sometimes things are urgent and there is no way to mention it online or to the agent so it would be beneficial if they send somebody immediately. It has been my experience that sometimes, contactors do not come on time. Still, I would recommend AHS. All businesses have ups and downs but there is always room for improvement.

When my refrigerator was making noise and dishwasher was not working, I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The process was easy and the contractor who came out for it was really good. He explained to me the issue and then told me he was gonna place the order for the part and that it would come on a certain date. Thereafter, he came out again and cleaned up after his work. Since the repair, everything has been functioning well. However, AHS sometimes sends contractors that are off. Also, if I try to get a new service, their rates are lower. I don’t understand why an existing customer pays more than the new and the lady told me that I would have to cancel the service and wait for 30 days to put the service back in. I don’t like the typical sales gimmick. Another thing which happened to me a couple of years ago was that American Home Shield gave me a runaround for the bigger issues like an air conditioner.

Our AC wasn’t working and I've had three techs come out, but it still was not working. I was gonna cancel my contract with American Home Shield, but I talked to a representative that was very nice and said she would try to help me before I make that decision. When I called, they told me they were getting ready to call me and that they weren’t gonna fix it because of something. They sent me another contractor from a different company which came out Friday and he said it was the motor. He told me he would come back Monday and replace it. However, I haven't heard from anybody and I was getting ready to call them. It's been a bad experience. It's hot and I have asthma and I have been trying to bear through it. I'm at the point now where I'm frustrated because I need some air and I want it to be fixed. I've never had this problem with AHS and they were fantastic up until that time.
I was with them for a year and I stopped with them for about three months because I lost my dad. We came back, although right now, I'm not happy at all. I definitely wasn’t happy with the second contractor because he didn’t do anything. He just looked and wrote notes and didn’t even see if anything was wrong with it. The second one was from CMR and I liked him because he went in, saw and checked out the unit.

I have learned to buy top-of-the-line home warranty coverage the hard way. I was with another home warranty company. When something went out on the faucet in our mudroom, I called that warranty company and they told me that they don't cover faucets! I didn't know that. So I went with American Home Shield and I have gotten good service. I file my claims over the phone and the people I've spoken to have always been nice to me. The most recent claim that I submitted was for our toilet. It was loose and you could smell the bad odors so it needed to be reseated. The company that came out then put some concrete on it. Also, while the guy was here, I had him put in the two faucets in the tub and the shower head and he did it. Then, once, fire ants got into one of my air conditioning units and they ate all the wiring inside. And AHS gave me a new unit! I always recommend American Home Shield because it’s been very good to me.

The American Home Shield warranty service in general has been very positive and the customer service has been good. My dryer fuse shorted recently and the company they sent was great. The techs were really nice and helped me fix the problem. The first contractor I had was good, although I’m having a little trouble with the one I have right now. They came out late the first time and when they came, it was raining so they had to come back another day, but they didn’t show up that day. I had to reschedule again and they showed up, but it was a guy and his wife and the guy didn’t speak English. So, I had trouble communicating what my problem was and what I needed. I told him that he would need to check the unit and he said there was nothing wrong with it even though he didn’t open anything up. He said through his wife that I needed to replace the air filter and then it would be fine. I replaced the air filter and it still doesn’t cool.
When I called American Home Shield, they made it seem like it wasn’t a problem, although they've been good about it. They said that the contractor should come back out and if the contractors didn’t fix it, they’d get another one for me. I've been dealing with that particular company for a week and a half now. I submit my claims online and the experience has been positive. But it took me a while to find the AHS customer service number as opposed to the number to submit claims and check on statuses. Nonetheless, they are really useful.
