I went online to submit a claim for a plumbing issue. That whole process was easy. It was user-friendly and convenient. Then, the contractor came quickly, so I was more happy with the response time. The guy was good, but when he first came here, he was too quick to indicate what the problem was and it wasn’t, so he ended up having to come back out here two weeks later. If he would’ve spent more time the first time he was here, perhaps he wouldn’t have to come out a second time. But he repaired the unit and it has been working great ever since. I've been with AHS for a couple of years now and it has been great. Every claim I put in, they’ve been quick to respond and someone’s gotten out here and I've had no issues. So I'm very happy with it. I would recommend them.

I told American Home Shield that the AC did not work and they sent somebody over. The contractor was working three hours fixing it, and after three hours that he left, an hour later it broke. And the problem was we have a baby here, and the baby was sweating, and I had to put ice on his clothing. And I called them and they said, “Okay. You have to call the company." They were going to send somebody in two days. I said, “I need somebody now.” Two days later they sent two guys. The guy said, “Well, I need to order a part.” I asked, “How long will it take?” He said, “At least 10 days, eight days minimum.” So, I called my company and I said, “Look, you know what I’m canceling you. You’re the worst company ever.” And I did.

The service is really bad. The service is extremely bad. If you have to call they put you on hold for an hour. It happened to me once that they put me on hold for an hour and they never called me back. I hang up. I have never seen a company that is so poorly managed. I’m in business myself if I would’ve done this to my client they would fire me in a heartbeat.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online for my dishwasher. However, I won't be using the website anymore. I don't have the choices I have if I called by phone. The technician who came out was exceptional. He found glass in the impeller. The impeller is part of the system that flushes the water out of the machine. It is nothing other than a blade that travels fast and it pushes the water out. In this particular case, a piece of a broken glass had gotten into the impeller. When it got there, it jammed it, so the impeller would not operate at all. So far, I'm happy with my experience with American Home Shield and I've already told my friends about them. They take out your worry.

I used American Home Shield's website for a malfunctioning air conditioning unit. I filled out the different questions and marked what our issue was. We had a little description of what we thought the issue might be and they sent it to a local contractor. Also, they sent out a text and emails, so whatever automated service American Home Shield is using, works. They quickly provided the number of the contractor but the local contractor seemed to be slow to get back to us and I waited to hear back from them. But they came out and fixed it within the day or two. Everything is running fine since the repair. If anyone asks about AHS, I would recommend the service if they are uncomfortable with local contractors or finding plumbers and different repair people that they need to do that kind of work on the house.

I've been with American Home Shield since October and I had a very poor experience with them. Submitting the claim was painless and easy. It was very quick and straightforward. The food trap or the little indent in the bottom of the dishwasher was holding water, so it wasn’t draining completely. I thought that it needed to be snaked out. But the contractors did not do anything to fix problem and said, “That’s normal. That’s what's supposed to happen.” So I felt like I wasted my money for nothing.

The faucet in our bathroom upstairs was leaking, and submitting the claim with Home Shield online was easy. But online, they ask what's wrong but not the details about what's wrong. We fell against our faucet and so, it twisted a little bit. It was okay for a long time and then it started leaking. And the technician came out and he took the covering off and then replaced the middle part. And it was really quick and easy for him. He was gone after half an hour. And then, when I went to look at it, which I should have done before he left, the shield that goes around the faucet that skids up against the tub didn't meet the wall anymore. There was a fourth of an inch distance. So when the water came down the wall, it went right down in between. I fussed about that a little bit and I called and talked to Home Shield and I explained my concern. And they sent another guy out.

The second guy came out and he fixed it. So now, it's flush against the wall again, which is nice. But it seems like it's not working right still. And it's not the way it was before we had the problem with it. Instead of being able to turn the faucet a certain amount, it's like it has to turn twice as much now. I can feel that there's water still coming out of the tub. It's not dripping, but it's wet when I put my hands underneath. So I figured I'd like to get the faucets replaced. Overall, we've had Home Shield for 22 years and they've been great. Everyone that's come out has been very professional. And if I have a problem, I know that I can contact the company and they're gonna have someone here that's going to be out to fix my problem and it’s always fast and efficient.

I’ve had American Home Shield for over 20 years with several homes that we've owned, and they always resolve my issues. When I speak to them, they ask me what my issues are and I let them know, and they take care of it. They also tell me which company will be calling or if they were to do anything else. They’ve always been super prompt with anything that I’ve called for. The call is within 24 hours and someone comes out within 24 hours to fix the issue. I had a problem a while back with my washer, and AHS sent a tech within the next day. The contractors have been pretty good also. Most recently, the kids moved the thermostat and it froze the line, so the techs came out. They said there was nothing to fix, and they just turned it off for a few hours and said it would defrost the line.

We moved into our home in May, and the icemaker on our refrigerator went out and so we put in a claim with American Home Shield, and they had a local appliance repair person come out and take a look at it. And he replaced the icemaker, but there was another sensor that was wrong, so he had replaced it and left, and then it continued not to make ice. So then we followed up on this. He came out, and he replaced the sensor, and then it started making ice. And then within this past week, it stopped making ice again.

So I have no idea what's up with that, but that reflects less on American Home Shield and more on the contractor, which I don’t even necessarily think it's their fault because it takes a little bit to make ice and figure out what's wrong with it. But as far as the process of it, AHS has been fine and prompt, too. The price point is definitely worth it too. And I appreciate the fact that I've only paid for the service once. Even though the product didn’t wind up working, I haven't had to pay for any sort of follow-up services to the product because the initial work clearly wasn’t actually completed. So I appreciated their no underhanded dealings there like with follow-up charges and things of that nature.

However, having to go through the middleman of American Home Shield is necessary because you have somebody holding the warranty but it gets inconvenient when you're juggling AHS and the contractor. But it’s not so inconvenient that I wouldn't recommend it. I would totally recommend any new homebuyer getting a home warranty and using American Home Shield for that.

I have to call two or three times to speak to someone with a computer that is online. A rep promises me I will get a call but that has Never happened. The claim was opened 6/10/18. Evaluation on 6/11/18. It’s 6/18/18 and I have called daily and I am in the same state I was on 6/10/18. It’s likely to be above 90 all week! Maybe now I will get a call! You sent feedback to American Home Shield.

I do not understand why this has not been escalated to appease a very dissatisfied customer. Me - This company is indicative of the current White House Administration... Lies, false promises, and the only beneficiary is AHS from our monthly stipends. 10 days and counting, no contact from AHS, no proposal for a resolution, and no AC for my home. This company reminds me of the old Benny Hill or 3 Stooges skits. Complete joke, but I am not laughing. Or I could be experiencing an unaired Rod Sterling Twilight Zone episode where AHS is my warranty company. Them - "Thank you for providing your contact information, Mr. **. We first filed an issue for service with American Home Shield on May 23rd. It is now June 21st and the issue still exists. AHS have dispatched 3 people all of whom either diagnosed the issues said they needed parts or a second opinion but then never came back. When I spoke to American Home Shield and the contractors they typically told me that AHS had canceled the "work order" and were assigning somebody else that would be capable of fixing the issue. So far nothing.

Trying to speak to customer services is somewhat of a joke. On average it takes about 20mins to be connected to someone. Each time I have gotten through I have to start the whole conversation again and explain the issues. It's impossible to speak to the same customer support agent so there is no continuity in service and no accountability or ownership of issues. On several occasions I've been cut-off which I'm fairly certain was intentional but obviously no way to know that for sure and then you have to start over from scratch and go to the back of the line again.

So frustrated with this company. I have a 5 month old child and I need to get this resolved as we are getting into the summer months. I've begged and begged for help from AHS but they don't seem to care. So disappointing. Will not be renewing my contract as it seems to be a waste of money that I could have just spent on having a contractor come and repair the AC myself.

Updated on 06/28/2018: After not knowing what else to do, I wrote a review on this site about American Home Shield as my AC has not been repaired in over 5 weeks at the time of my original review (6 weeks now). Countless long calls to a call center (At best you get to speak to somebody after 15 mins of holding) that promises to follow up and resolve your problems and NEVER delivers. Anyway after posting my review on here AHS respond with a stock response that I've seen them use for countless other poor reviews:

"I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience." So I thought finally, I am going to get to speak to a "Social Media Specialist" and somebody that might be concerned with my issues and help me get to a resolution and fix. Well that response was a week ago and guess what, no communication whatsoever. This pretty much sums up American Home Shield.

During the first week of May 2018, I placed an online request for electrical service. After numerous attempts to get an AHS contracted electrician to coordinate his schedule with mine-- and with some unreturned calls-- I finally decided to forget about it. Also, the AHS online order screen allows for a pre-payment or post service payment. I chose the post. Nevertheless, I was charged $133.44 as if the job had been completed. This began my trip into "nightmare service land". Numerous calls ensued where their people gave me the runarounds-- delays-- etc. Even after I fulfilled the AHS necessity (electrician documentation), I could not get any evidence that they had attempted to return my money. Finally, I had my bank dispute the charge.

Two weeks after this (6-21-18) I noted on my account screen that my charge was still showing as if I was still in debt to them. A call was made and again I was told it would take days for the correction (this time 5-7 business). That's when I asked them to send me to the cancellation department--- where I was informed the correction had been submitted and it would be 5-7 days. All this after numerous other similar assurances and even after a claims dispute through my bank. Trust me folks-- you can do better.

As a footnote, the only other time I used them was for a plumbing issue. Their contracted plumber had to be called out three times to repair a toilet (and his subsequent mistakes). Finally, I got another non-AHS plumber to correct his error (he had left the toilet on inserts making it unleveled to the floor)-- and it was costly. Again-- trust me folks -- find another home warranty company.

I had a weird experience with my heating claim which I submitted online. The guy from the HVAC company American Home Shield sent out was seemingly very confident. I was having problems with the AC in one of my rooms. He opened the vents correctly but he did next to no work to redirect them. He took a look at the AC unit and determined that it needed a cleaning.

He talked me into their service plan and said that the only alternative is to go in and create a redirecting of their ductwork. However, I'm having concerns about that now because of the way the second guy who came acted. He wasn't as confident as the first guy. There was no follow up with them either. I'm a contractor myself so I kind of know what's going on. But they opted not to do anything so I just feel a little frustrated by that. He just made it sound like it was gonna be so much work and he was like in some big rush. He told me that he wasn't the guy who does the cleaning. But they did give me a better feel on the package that they had. It was about $500. They gave me a better deal on like the refrigerant.

They sent the second guy out the same day since he happened to be in the neighborhood. But I felt a taken advantage of after that like maybe I shouldn't have done that because it was a different guy. I paid that extra to have that stuff done. He cleaned out a coil and it was an acid wash. He was draining this thing and it was draining off the side of my roof. It was directly on to my patio making a huge mess and he was totally oblivious. The only thing that they did for my original submission was to change the flow and open the vent. The other stuff was completely separate. It's a little cooler now but it's not significantly cooler. It's definitely still warmer than it was so they really didn't solve the problem.

American Home Shield has just been so unbelievably responsive. We just bought the house and we've had a couple of claims with them when some stuff went wrong early on. They came out and fixed our garage opener issue. Then all of a sudden, it wasn’t working again so we replaced it. They then came out and made sure everything was fine.

The hot water heater also blew up in January and AHS sent someone out to fix it and put a new hot water tank in. But before they would do anything, we had to pay them $400 for the upgrades right away and we couldn’t wait and check with AHS about it. AHS just said that they would replace it and never told us that we had to pay that amount. I didn't know if I got ripped off or not. Then, the night after they put the hot water tank in, a pipe burst where they were working. We had to turn the water off and we didn't have water for five days!

After that pipe burst, I didn't trust that company anymore and we were not satisfied with them at all. My husband was very upset. He had to phone them at 11:30 at night. And the only reason that we found out that the pipe had burst that night was because our dog started barking and I heard the water and it sprayed all over unto our garage door opener as well. And then we had to replace that on our own and it was another $400. Also, it all happened around New Year's. AHS didn't send that plumber out again, but they did send somebody out to finish off the pipe on our water heater.

When we had the dishwasher repair, the company that worked on that was very good. They kept their word and they did what they said they were going to do. They were also very nice, efficient, and careful. They came out six times already for the unit and the guy told us that they would keep coming out since we were paying them, but we needed to get a new unit. I sent American Home Shield an email and gave all the information and they gave us a $529 replacement.

It’s very difficult to get a hold of AHS when you need them. You can go online and get the service and that works well. But when I wanted to talk to someone about the hot water tank, I had to phone three times. The first time, I waited an hour and no one came. I had to go to work. The second time, I waited almost two hours and then I hung up. And the third time, it was just about an hour before I got to speak to someone who could talk to me about that $400. But if I phone the sales office, I got someone within two minutes. Other than that, everything else was good. They serve you really well and they get back to you. And I would recommend them.

They were really careful about my home and the surrounding things that they were working around and made sure that the problem was addressed efficiently while also considering cost and the trouble that I would have to go through in repairing some of the damages that they were causing. They were overall friendly as well.

Everything has been fine since the issue got worked out and the plumbing is working. Any problems that I found wound up being resolved by American Home Shield. I was confused about the cap of the coverage. It was my first claim and they were helpful in clarifying and making sure that I understood what was happening. Everything was ultimately really good. I always tell my friends that AHS has great coverage and it's helpful to lean on in case of emergencies.

I like American Home Shield and I have two homes covered by them. When our oven did not work, we called in to file a claim. A contractor came out within a couple of days which was okay considering where we live. They did the best they could to fix it but they couldn’t, so American Home Shield replaced the range. It took about a month to get it though because it was back-ordered.

But the only drawback I see on this company is the long wait times on the phone which could take an hour. To deal with it, I just put a movie on or something and put the phone and let the music go until something happens and then I just turn it off then attend to what I need to do. I make the hour worth my time. Also sometimes, I found that when they have a lot of calls, the calls get dropped so then I have to wait another day and call early in the morning or late. But when you call late and you're waiting, they just pick up the phone and hang up. Another thing that I find strange is that the service number keeps changing. When I call from my address, they'll say the contract number does not exist. So, I rewrite it and it lasts about a year. Other than that, I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield.

I had an issue with the air conditioner and I filed the claim online with American Home Shield. I tried to talk to somebody, but it took two hours to get to a live person. And then a service technician came in and made a recommendation that it was an electrical problem. The electrician came and then after he fixed the problem, the same air conditioner technician came in before the part was ordered. It took almost a week to have the part so it took 10 days for all this process and that was very disappointing. The response wasn't swift as I expected considering the 100-degree weather, which is very challenging when living in Texas. And I know if I haven't paid my monthly bill for 10 days, I'll be cut off. I'm a faithful customer, who pays my stuff without any problem and I go through this so I'm not a happy customer right now at all.

The techs who came out did what they have to do. But I was expecting them to at least go upstairs and check to make sure that the upstairs is okay. Because there's a unit is upstairs and after a couple of days, I saw that the ceiling was wet. I didn't see the tech go inside. He didn't make sure that everything was alright. He came here just to change the compressor and now I'm gonna bring in somebody to have to fix the ceiling for me. My wife, daughter and I had to sleep downstairs in the couch because we couldn't sleep upstairs. I am seriously considering discontinuing my service because I find it very, very, very disappointing. I just recommended AHS to a friend and this thing happened to me. I don't have any problems with the technicians' skills or their professionalism. But the process was tedious for me and I didn't feel that AHS supported me at all.

The garbage disposal went bad, rusted through, and started leaking. I filed a claim online and called American Home Shield. The initial plumber they sent out from Lubbock A-1 Plumbing was three hours late and in a big hurry. I explained to American Home Shield that instead of putting in a new fitting from day one, the plumber pushed it back in and said that that would be it. Those fittings couldn’t be reused and I questioned that, but he said that he got it to where it was not leaking. Then a week later, it was leaking again. So, the issue did not get fixed and the plumber damaged ourf RO water equipment. We got it shut off right now because it was still leaking but I was told that it wasn’t when the contractor came out to look at it again.

Also, when the plumber initially changed out the garbage disposal, he didn’t tighten one of the drain hoses properly and when we turned the dishwasher on, it blew water all over the floor, which all went in the wall. We had water everywhere when we got home and the wall is damaged now. I went ahead and made that repair myself. And we cleaned up the house and dried it out to the best of our ability. So, I am not very happy with A-1 Plumbing. They need to fix the RO water issue with the leak and they should have put a new fitting in.

I’ve already argued that point once and if American Home Shield will send me another plumber that pulls that kind of stunt, I’m done. There are other businesses that service consumers in the same way. But all these years that I’ve been with American Home Shield, I’ve never had an issue and everything they did on their end was 100%. They are still topnotch in my book, but being that the contractors are contracted under them, they should take the lead with the problem and make that right.

They explained everything in detail, let us know what’s going on, and gave us choices. I haven’t had any issues so far with anything that they’ve done so far. When my microwave stopped working, we filed a claim and G & L Appliance Service had to fix. The first time, there was something wrong with the part and then we ordered the part and repaired it, and it was fine. American Home Shield has a great product and they help me out instead of spending thousands of dollars on repairs. I just recommended them to another friend and I would recommend them to anybody.

I filed an online claim with AHS when the dryer broke. It was easy-peasy and amazing. While the tech had to come back more than once, that wasn’t his fault. That was the dryer being dumb. He was a good guy and absolutely amazing. He was really nice, professional and communicative. He was really easy to get in touch with. Even when I had to call and bug him more than once, he was polite. In fact, I referred him to my friend whose dishwasher broke.

I was really surprised with AHS because I thought they were just gonna get the cheapest contractors to come out and the contractors were gonna be rude since they don’t get paid very much. I thought the company would be bad. But it has been the opposite. Their contractors have all been very polite and good at their work. Plus, their representatives are very kind when I speak to them. So, I've been really pleased. I was with a different company before AHS and I wouldn’t go with anyone else. They are amazing and I love them.

My gas water heater went out and I filed a claim online with American Home Shield. Navigating their website was pretty easy and they were able to send a contractor out in about a week which was quick. The contractor replaced the water heater but it ended up costing me about $900 out of pocket plus the $75 service fee. When they turned off the gas to replace the heater they lit the pilot light on my second water heater and that one went out too.

I had another service call for them to come out and fix that, so I paid another $75 when that should’ve been taken care of when the contractor came on the first visit. AHS wouldn’t waive the $75, so I canceled them. Also, I paid a $75 fee to have the button on my Whirlpool tub fixed but I ended up fixing it myself because the plumbing company that came out never did anything to fix it. I’m not renewing with American Home Shield. I am going to tell friends that they’ll end up paying a lot of out of pocket money than they know.

They told us that the furnace was original construction contractor grade, 23 years old, it was on its last leg about ready to go out, and the HVAC was not working properly. The old system had to be replaced, so we went ahead and contracted them. We paid to have a new system put in. We called AHS Thursday or Friday and they got here Tuesday. It was hot down here and even though I’ve got a heart condition, four to five days was the soonest they could do. But when we discovered what was going wrong, they were here the next day and replaced the system. The contractors were excellent. They were very nice, they kept the area clean and they barely took any breaks at all. Since then, everything has been wonderful.

The first time we used American Home Shield, we had a problem with the garage door not opening and closing. There was an issue where they sent a contractor who didn't know what they were doing. The guy had to call his supervisor to find out what he needed to do, and I was charged for that. And then, I had to have somebody else come out, and he didn't fix it. And then, after somebody fixed it, they said, "Oh. It's not covered." So, it was just an ongoing thing, and it was tiresome. And then we still had a problem with the payment.

Originally, we paid the first guy and when I told AHS that he didn't do anything, they said that they would take the payment back from them and send it to the other company that was coming out. Well, that took a while. And then whenever I called AHS, I was on the phone anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour before I could even get in touch with anyone.

But the claim we had for the air condition went well. We submitted it online and their site is user-friendly. We made the appointment in the early morning hours, once we noticed the air condition was out, and the guy was here about 8 o'clock that morning and had it fixed. He was great and he did everything that he had to do. The experience was wonderful. We also had a water heater problem wherein the guy they sent was good and things turned out good as well. I would definitely tell people that AHS is a helpful thing. It can be great, because of the service we had for the water heater and air condition, but I'd also tell them about my first experience with the garage door.

I needed someone to come out to fix the garbage disposal and my Whirlpool tub and I called American Home Shield. I submitted the claim online but I did it separately. The rep I talked to said it was a plumbing company that ended up coming because the two orders were combined into one. So she did a great job and set everything up fine. Then the guy fixed my kitchen sink. However, when it came to my Whirlpool tub, he looked around and said, "It’s how it’s positioned. American Home Shield isn’t going to pay for that”. So he left it alone.

Then, my AC went out a week later so I called back. So that was where he popped again. They came. The guy changed my fuse. But last night I realized that the AC downstairs still was not working. I do not know when that stopped working or if it ever really worked. So long story short, I had vendors come out, they were not fixing anything, and I’m paying $125 every time they come. I work two jobs, so I have to take off and sit down and wait for them to come and I’m not getting anything accomplished and I'm losing money.

The second rep I talked to told me that the guy who came to look at my Whirlpool and fixed my sink was going to come back and I was like, "Come back for what? He said that he couldn’t fix it, so why would he come back?” I really don’t want the plumbing people to come back because I wanted a second opinion because they did not fix it. But the rep told me that it was because I already paid the service fee and the contractor has already taken it. And he’s giving me a second opinion because he didn't do anything. I said they can come back twice but if they can't fix it, but I don't want them back a third time. I get the air conditioning people but I don’t want them a third time.

I had a technician come out from a company called Best Experience, that I got through American Home Shield, and it really wasn’t the best experience. He didn’t take much time to really hear what the issues were and it was just a washer but not the dryer. He really just took the agitator out and put it back and then said that it was fixed. I asked if he likes to listen and see if it was still doing the same thing and he said no, it was fixed and I could call if it was not fixed. So he left and it was not fixed. It was exactly the same.

The Best Experience guy didn’t seem to care. I also asked him, “Do you think it’s this or that?” And he would just say, “Yes,” so I’m not sure if he understood English or understood what his job was. But we went for another opinion and AHS sent Precision Plans. The second guy at Precision seems very well informed, very knowledgeable and very personable. He was willing to take time to explain things and go through the options. It was a much better experience the second time around.

Originally he was here and then I had understood from an initial call from American Home Shield that they were gonna replace my dryer. But it was not the dryer because I fixed the dryer myself. It was the washer so they called back and said that if I would have it repaired I have the option having it repaired or getting a check for $396 after I purchased another washer. So I need to make some time to do some price comparing and see if there’s something out there that will be equivalent to what I have regarding the features. For background, this washer is a replacement of a lemon through American Home Shield and I don’t think it’s a good brand, the GE. I had problems for a year with the first one and then it was replaced with the same thing and it started doing odd things about a week after the 1 year warranty was up.

But everyone seems great when I talk to them. It’s just the follow through wasn’t happening on this particular claim. This time around, it wasn’t what I would normally expect. I just kinda wish at this point that the washer could be replaced through American Home Shield rather than me trying to see what I can get for the $396. I have recommended AHS to friends but this process has been very difficult. American Home Shield was very timely with exception to this last process that I have. When I had my plumbing issue in my pool recently it was a smooth process.

Absolutely do NOT choose American Home Shield for your home warranty service. After being a customer for 5 years, we will be discontinuing our service with American Home Shield and will be telling every person possible about the horrible service we recently received. Our nightmare began on Saturday, May 26th (Memorial Weekend). Our sewage pump alarm started going off and we had complete stoppage and raw sewage overflowing into our yard. We called immediately and started a claim.

We were assigned a plumber and knew that on a holiday weekend we would probably not get a callback. Because this was a crisis, we called the assigned plumber and they did not answer. We made the decision to call a plumber on our own who could handle emergency weekend calls. We know how the contract works and knew that we would have to pay out of pocket for that service call. That part was fine. They diagnosed the sewage pump had gone out and would need to be replaced. We told them to hold off so we could call AHS and see what we could do.

On Tuesday, May 29, the AHS assigned plumber still had not called us. We called AHS back and complained. We were reassigned a 2nd plumber. We heard back from plumber #2 on Wednesday, May 30. They told us they were completely booked and could not help us for at least a week. We called AHS back and complained. We were reassigned a 3rd plumber. We heard back from plumber #3 on Thursday, May 31 and were told they would not be able to help us for another week.

Keep in mind, we were now almost a week out with raw sewage in our yard and 100% blockage in our pipes. On Thursday, May 31, we called AHS back and complained yet again. At that point, we had been assigned 3 different plumbers with no success. We asked if we could just use the plumber we had come to our house because they had already diagnosed the issue as a pump that had gone out and needed to be replaced. After seeking approval from a supervisor, it was authorized that we could use the third party plumber that we had originally used.

We were given a reference number to use. We asked specifically what we needed to do to make sure we were following proper protocol. We were directed by the customer service rep (Moesha) to give our plumber the reference number and AHS’ contact information. We were also told that we would need to pay the invoice and then submit it for reimbursement. We immediately called our plumber and gave them the reference number and the phone number to contact AHS so they could proceed.

On Monday, June 4, the work was completed by the plumber. We paid $2,683.00 out of pocket + $380 for the original service call + AHS charged us $75 for the service call. We called AHS and reported that the work had been completed and asked about the next steps. We were given the AHS fax number and told to submit the invoice for $2,683.00 and we would be reimbursed between 7-21 days. Sounds easy, right?

On Tuesday, June 19, I noticed our account had been charged $75 twice by AHS for the service call. I called to find out why we had been charged twice and also to find out the status of our reimbursement. At that point, I was told that our claim had been denied and we would not be receiving the reimbursement of $2,683.00. I asked why and was told that AHS had not approved the diagnosis before the work was completed. I told the customer service rep (Queen) that we had done exactly what we were told to do. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was put on hold for several minutes and was then told that no supervisors were available and that it didn’t matter because my claim was denied. I continued to insist that I be able to talk to a supervisor.

After being put on hold multiple times, I continued to be told that no supervisors were available. I insisted and was finally told that a supervisor would call me back. I never received a call back which I find to be a complete insult. This is truly the absolute worst customer service I have ever witnessed, not to mention we were completely misguided when we asked specifically what we needed to do to make sure we were following the proper steps.

Our air conditioning quit working in our home and it was in the middle of the summer in Texas. We called American Home Shield and the technician came to our home 3 days after we called. They looked at it and told us that we needed to have the entire system replaced. And gave us a quote of over $9000.00 to replace it. We contacted American Home Shield again and told them that the price was way too high and they told us if we could find a different company to replace it they would reimburse us for a portion of the bill. So that is what we did. I sent in all the necessary paperwork from the providing service and they have sent us nothing. We have not heard from AHS at all. I have called several times and they say that the claim is still in review. This was in the summer of 2017. My service contract is coming up in August and we are not renewing!! All they had to do was tell the truth but instead they give us the runaround. Bad business tactics.

AHS sent Air Design, an HVAC Co., to my home to replace a broken compressor and add freon. Air Design, came out, replaced the compressor, added freon, charged me $500 (no receipt). Tech spoke no english so I was unable to discuss the history of the breakdown. Broke a week later, I called Air Design, they called me a racist because I said the tech spoke no English- I was extremely upset and offended (I'm a SoCal native and half Mexican!!). AHS was NOT helpful AT ALL! They kept ping ponging me between two HVAC companies and umpteen reps who didn't take down any notes in their system about the incident, didn't escalate the issue - JUST KEPT SAYING THAT AIR DESIGN WOULD HAVE TO FIX IT AND WAIT FOR THEM TO CALL.

SOOOOOOO I'M SUPPOSED TO BE OKAY WITH SOMEONE CALLING ME A RACIST COMING BACK TO MY HOME TO FIX THEIR OWN BOTCHED JOB???!!! Well Air Design never called me (surprise!), AHS continued to lie and give me the run around between Air Design (saying it was on THEM to replace their broken part, not AHS) and AHS customer service for two weeks in a house that is 84 to 88 degrees with a puppy and a 3 yr old! Well, don't get AHS as a home warranty service- you'll be on hold forever, lied to, cheated, given the runaround, treated like crap as a paying customer and sub-par vendors will be sent to your house to fix/break whatever you need serviced. BEWARE!

On May 31st I placed a request to repair my air conditioning unit because it would work for a couple of hours and then it would stop circulating throughout the house. I knew that it had something to do with the freon. On June 6th a contractor from Oxford Heating and Air Conditioning came out and tried fixing the problem. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to and stated that someone from AHS would contact me within 24 hours. I called AHS on June 8th. I spoke with Sam who stated that someone else is going to call me back to arrange a 2nd appointment. This is after I explained my health situation and that I needed my air condition fixed as soon as possible.

I explained that I’m a United States Army elderly veteran with respiratory breathing problem. I am currently using 2 different inhalers, I sleep with a CPAP machine, I live alone, and the heat is unbearable for me. I have been sleeping some nights at my sister, because my house is too hot. To top it off, I recently had surgery on my knee and I’m currently receiving therapy and can’t walk properly yet. I am very afraid that I’m going to be rushed to the hospital soon, because the heat is unbearable and my breathing is becoming shallow day by day. I’m experiencing weakness and headaches. I’m really scared and feel no one is taking me seriously. Whenever I talk to any agent I would mention my health situation. I called AHS again on June 10th and spoke with Agentries because I missed the call on June 9th and left a voicemail.

I called for him to explain what was said on the voicemail, because I did not understand it in its entirety. He stated that AHS will cover the evat coil. He said the evat coil needs to be replaced. He also stated that AHS do not cover code mandated by law in my area and gave me following breakdown below: Costs - Codes Mandated by Law in my Area. $600 - for refrigerant. $300 - mastic ceiling. $65 - refrigerant lock and cap. $150 - float switch. $125 - modification joint line (changed or altered). $150 - modification copper line. $1,390 - I have to pay (what is the contract I have for?) I still don’t understand why AHS is still not covering the whole cost when I was told in May of last year when I came back to AHS and asked about many of the appliances and air conditioning was one them and I was told that the contract that I have would cover the cost.

Instead I was told about AHS “CASH IN LIEU”. The AHS Cash in Lieu is when they will send me a check for whatever amount they approve it for and that I must send an invoice for that amount back to AHS. Also, that someone from AHS will contact me about the Cash in Lieu within 48 hours. I called AHS on June 12th and spoke with Keelah. She gave me number for the people handling the Cash in Lieu, but that it usually takes 7 to 10 days. On June 14th received a call from Michelle. Reference the cash amount that I’m approve for which is $500. I don’t understand why I’m paying AHS for a service where I still have to pay. It doesn’t seem fair. As you can see from June 14 thru June 18 I have not heard from anyone and nothing has been done.

I called AHS on the June 18th to find out if they had ever contacted the company who is supposed to return to fix my air conditioner. They claimed they did. I called that company on June 18 and June 19 and have been told that the person who handles the scheduling will call me and no one has done so. I have been steadily calling that company (Oxford) and no one is answering the phone. I don’t know what else to do.

Updated on 06/21/2018: On June 21st, I call AHS and spoke with Ray from the Option Division and that’s when I learned that they claimed I denied the cash out option, which I never did. As you can see in my previous complain that on June 14th I spoke to Michelle in which shows that I accepted the $500. Her exact words were that she received the information on Tuesday, Reference the Cash Amount, and that she will call me back once process was completed. I never got any calls. She also stated that she will call Oxford, but I’m pretty sure her calls are going straight to voicemail, like everyone else. Even AHS is not able to contact Oxford.

I contacted a lawyer to look into the matter further as I am totally frustrated with American Home Shield and Oxford Heating and Air. I don’t know why AHS deals with Oxford. They have very bad reviews and I believe AHS should get rid of Oxford and get another reputable company. I had several people call Oxford and they also only got their voicemail. My policy is $587.88 a year, and my deductible is $100.00 already paid. This is the type of poor service I get for it? Oxford has a tendency of not finishing their job, once they are paid. Seen a lot of it in their bad reviews.

On June 21st, I spoke to Christie – She indicated that my case is in research and that someone will call me back in 24 hours. That my case is in escalation. She also stated that she will submit the $500 cash out again. On June 21st, I spoke to Brigitte to see about sending another contractor instead of Oxford, since I can’t reach Oxford, neither AHS. She stated that because it was escalated to Legal, that again I will have to wait another 24 hours before someone calls me back. No one ever calls. I’m frustrated at this point and don’t know what to do anymore. As you can see in my notes, that AHS always say someone is going to call me back, and as you can see, I’m the one doing all the calling. No calls from AHS or Oxford.

In the meantime, my health is declining. I currently have an appointment tomorrow for respiratory/breathing problems, all because no one has been by to fix my air conditioner. Besides previous medical health previously, I also have asthma, diabetes and high blood pressure. I have had to stay at my sister house in the evening because of how unbearable it is for me to stay in my own house. Is this why I’m paying AHS for? I believe I should be compensated for the inconvenience AHS has caused me for almost 3 weeks as well. It should not have taken this long for them to fix my air condition and knowing that I am an elderly person.

I believe that it is a shame that AHS treat their customers like this. Not only their customers, but the elderly, and probably children, it shows that you don’t care about them. The elderly and children are not Priority/Urgent for AHS. Where is their humanity? It has been almost three weeks since my initial contact and I want my air conditioning unit fixed and it should be done at a discounted rate due to the extensive delay. It's a shame that you don't have any respect for the elderly, veteran and children in my opinion. Heading over to stay at my sister again. Your kind assistance will greatly be appreciated.

We have had a request submitted since Friday (15 June 2018) for a non-functioning central air conditioning unit. I've called AHS every day since establishing this work order for service, and have yet to have a contractor to set up a visit, or call me back to confirm the times. To request a service visit, I had to pay $75; and have yet to receive service.

The first contractor AHS booked us with scheduled an appointment to check our air conditioner on 25 June (10 days after submitting a request, 8 days longer than they 'guarantee'); we only discovered this after contacting them when they failed to notify us within 24 hrs. I brought this to the attention of AHS' customer service where they transferred the work order to Patriot Air Comfort LLC. They have not come to inspect our AC unit, today is Tuesday, 19 June.

I have also brought this up Monday and today. Monday, AHS' customer service assured me that they would have an answer from the contractor within 24 hours of the estimated work required, and that they would follow up with me after receiving the update, which would have been around 3 p.m. Tuesday. Obviously that didn't happen; and I had to speak to three different customer service reps before speaking to one who promised to send an e-mail to the contractor on my behalf and to cc myself in the e-mail. The first representative I spoke to today hung up on me, and the second said that his "system was down," but could still process manual requests and payments.

It is currently day 5 after initiating a service request, and have not had anyone come to our home, no one from the company will take responsibility for their subcontractors, and there has been no effort from AHS to remediate this issue. It seems as though they are being intentionally evasive, and there is no means within their system to further address this issue.

Honestly if I could give them no stars, I would. We have had nothing but trouble with trying to get our AC fixed. We set up a service request Friday, it is now Tuesday and no one has come out. Not only has no one come out, we were promised a phone call today with a follow up from AHS, no phone call. My husband was just on the phone with AHS for over an hour waiting to talk to someone and the first customer service representative hung up on him so he had to call back and wait another 30 plus minutes.

We live in Southwest Oklahoma, the average temperature for this time or year is upper 90s. My husband and I have a toddler and I am currently pregnant. No AC in this heat is not healthy for anyone, especially small children and women who are pregnant. It is very obvious that the contractor that AHS got for us and AHS themselves don’t care about their customers. We still don’t know when our AC will be fixed and it’s supposed to be over 100 on Thursday.

This is the 3rd time that AHS has not covered a large project in our home. 1. 2013: Outside air unit went out. AHS sent Royal Air who stated that the work was not going to be covered by warranty company. So, $2100.00 later, I paid for the repair. Turns out that Royal Air only did half an ** job because they should have also repaired the old coils in the attic, they did not. 2. 2017: Our air goes out again. MJS Mechanical is sent by AHS. They tell us that all of the coils in the attic need to be replaced and SHOULD have been replaced when Royal changed our air condition unit. Guess what... NOT Covered! So $2400 later.

    3. Our toilet has been clogged for about a week now. AHS sends DNB Plumbing. Plumber does nothing except say that he needs to get a camera down there and see what is causing the problem. Guess who denied the work... AHS! I spoke to a rep from AHS who of course said that it was not in the contract. She also said that we had one of the older contracts and that we could upgrade it to make sure that we had the proper coverage, really, why didn't someone tell me that we could upgrade?!

We have been loyal for many years to this company. They cover the little things but nothing else. After our air unit was fixed I called them, emailed them to tell me why this was not covered, received nothing back. Now I have to dish out money for a plumber to come out and fix our toilet. I am so frustrated with this company. I don't have a money tree in my yard but I have to go without something in order to fix our air, our plumbing, don't have a choice. I work for a doctor whose husband happens to be a lawyer. I will call him just to see what he advises. The way I see it, I am out $4500 plus the AHS fee and this does not even include what the plumber is going to charge.

I took advantage of that offer and the claim went through pretty smoothly. I was contacted for a locksmith and we had an appointment. The contractor that came out to do the re-lock was quick and he did a good job. And since they changed the locks, all of them have been working properly except the one in the front door where it doesn’t go all the way like it used to so I have to push it a little extra.

I have been with American Home Shield for a few years now and my only frustration with them is the amount of wait time. It happens when I need to call them as something goes wrong with my property. I have an ongoing issue with our pool and it didn’t matter what time of the day I would call. I would be on the phone on hold for a minimum of 45 minutes waiting to speak to a representative. Other times, for more than an hour. It is incredibly frustrating. They need to hire more customer representatives to work on the phone. I know of someone else who did the same thing so it’s not just me. I need help that’s why I paid the insurance but I need to be able to speak with somebody in a timely manner, not to just sit and listen to horrible music which I feel should be classical. They said it had to be looked at on three different occasions before it was the time that I needed a replacement. So that was a lengthy process. I had the same standard inconvenience, having to clean the refrigerator out with a towel once a week. Then I had a replacement with an outside company and the contractors did an excellent job bringing in the replacement. The customer service of AHS was weak though. American Home Shield is relatively new to me as I just got covered since October, but I've been happy with them. I've had four claims so far and right now, I’m having some issues with my air conditioner that’s not getting fixed. We’ve had the contractors out twice already and they fixed the capacitor but we haven’t figured out what’s going on with the air conditioner. I haven’t called them about it yet and my bill was $306 last month. We just bought the house and when I looked at the history, it was 150 this time last year. But I know that was also during the time when we had them come out and fix it, so the bill has a lot to do with it.

Submitting a claim to AHS is easy. I either call or go online and I have somebody out within the next day. The reps I spoke to were nice and professional. And when the contractors came, my husband said everybody was knowledgeable and nice. But we had an issue where the contractors did not show up on time and they came after hours. They got there about seven o’clock and they were still there at four. We also have a heating issue which I have figured out what's going on, and I’m still trying to figure out what’s going on with the air conditioning. That aside, I would recommend AHS. I only have a one year contract with them, but I will be renewing it.

I had a clogged drain and I didn't know what was wrong with it. So, I decided to use American Home Shield. It was my first time to use them and I thought it was gonna be painful, but it was easy. I called them and gave my information. Then they asked a few questions and got my account. I told them what the issue was then I got an email within minutes. They let me know who was gonna be calling me, so I knew who was coming. And when the repair person called me, they told me who would be coming and what kind of vehicle they’d be in, so I could be expecting them. They came over within 24 hours and the contractor called me when he was 15 minutes away. He got there on time and it took him around 30 minutes to fix the drain. He was very precise and he knew what he was doing. He tested it and made sure that the plumbing under the sink was all tightened down. And he made sure everything was good and it worked out. He was very professional.

At first I was skeptical about using the AHS service, but now I know that if I need them next time, it’d be an easy process. With AHS, I din't have to take care of looking on the web and trying to find a plumber, or someone to come out and go through all the details, and having to call a number of people to get a price for the service. I just made one phone call, was told of what I had to pay, and that was it. They did all the work and I had to wait until the repair guy came out. I've also already recommended AHS to a few friends. It's like a worry-free insurance where I know I'm gonna pay something but I'm not gonna pay full price.

He had given me his direct phone number so I texted him and told him my AC still wasn't working and that I'd like him to come back. He said it was no problem and that he would come back at the end of his route. He came back and fixed the problem. He was awesome. With my washer and dryer, there were some sort of clamps that the contractor had to replace. However, he didn't have the parts so he ordered them and got them faster than he thought he could. American Home Shield was excellent. The water on the tub and the toilet would not stop running and the Jacuzzi would not turn on and off. I submitted a claim with AHS and they got back quick. And in the time limit they said, the contractor came out and fixed it. I file my claim on the phone because I like to make sure I talked to a person and their reps are very friendly.

Their contractors have all been very qualified in their job and if they couldn’t do a job, they referred it to someone else. I've had them for over 10 years and I've been happy with it. If you have a home, invest in getting American Home Shield to service your needs or any repairs. It's cheaper dealing with a company that you can call at any time to take care of your problem.

I love the online claim submission process of American Home Shield. It’s really very friendly and easy. My most recent claim was my plumbing, however, we didn’t have a lot of communication with the contractor, so we struggled to get him out here. We had to reschedule a couple of times to make sure we got him out. Then they were able to come out and fix the issue. The plumbing has been good since the repair. And I would recommend American Home Shield.

My daughter files the claims with American Home Shield and most of the time, the contractors they send out fix stuff. But some couldn't fix things on the first time, then on the second time, they could. That is a burden on the insurance and I don’t like it because they're not cheap calls. If they'd send a person to come, they should do the job and order the parts if needed. If three people would come, then that would look bad on my account too. But they also offered to pay me 1,400 bucks for a freezer that costs 2,200 since I don't want to get it done anyway.

I've had a claim with American Home Shield since last September because my air conditioning broke. They sent three different AC crews. The first one came three times and did absolutely nothing. The second one didn't even show up. The third one came and after looking at the unit and doing their work, they figured out the whole unit needed to be replaced because it was broken. It's a 10-year-old Trane unit which is basically top-of-the-line and the contract allows American Home Shield to replace it by a different brand name as long as the capacity and all other characteristics are pretty much the same. But the problem is they're gonna replace it with the worst possible quality. After all they've put me through, they want to replace it with a unit called Goodman which is the bottom-of-the-line and I'm certainly not satisfied with that.

I only paid service fee once, but that was after three months of discussions with them until they finally recognized and acknowledged that it was the same thing and it was the people they sent who were completely inept. The last crew did a good job though. I spoke with the gentleman who came a couple of times and he was knowledgeable. He knew what he was doing, it's just that the unit is not fixable. I'd tell people to check other companies.

We have American Home Shield on three different properties and we're very happy with the service we've gotten from them for many years. It's very difficult to talk to a living human being when you call in but the service is great. On occasion, AHS still says “no” the first time we try to submit a claim. But we never buy the “no” and eventually, they do. They come out and fix the problem and the quality of the work is good. We had something that wasn’t covered by AHS, but the pool filter was covered. We called in to submit a claim and I was able to speak to a live rep pretty quick this time. And the guy from Provolt who came out had been here several years before and I knew he was terrific. He was as good as he was last time.

Many years ago there was a problem. A lot of their subcontractors would come out and try to sell us something in addition that was not covered. But that hasn’t happened the last number of years and we appreciate that. We have noticed a vast improvement in the quality of the people they send out and we're very satisfied with American Home Shield.

Some of our pipes were leaking on the floor. I got the AHS warranty and it had the flooring and all that included and so I wanted to have a repair guy come by and check it out. He put some kind of adhesive on the pipes so I shouldn’t have anything leaking but I do. I’ve never had an issue with the pool before but since he made those changes, now I have something going on with it. He looked at some of the new piping for the plumbing that he did. It looks good but one little spot was leaking. I have to call American Home Shield or his company and they can resent him back out again.

I’m not sure if I might need to have a second opinion from another company because he had been here a couple of times and still not fixed it. I’ve emptied the pool completely and refilled it so we were not gonna do that again. I told them if that’s what is needed, then I would have to talk to American Home Shield or to his company to see who’s gonna pay for it this time. The water company doesn’t do any discounts. First, it was on me but this second one, either American Home Shield or somebody’s gonna have to pay for it.

I made three service calls with AHS. Once I replaced all the locks in our house. That guy did a good job and was pretty quick. He came in and did all of that but what I’ve noticed was, he didn’t tighten up any of the screws. I was like, “Why is this loose a little bit?” So I got my tools and tighten up every one of them. But the locks were all changed and the keys work good so I’m fine with that.

Then I had the appliance guy came for my refrigerator. When he came, he plugged it and it was making an awful noise and it wasn’t cooling. So we unplugged it and he did his thing. When we plugged it back in, it was as quiet as it can be. I was like, “What in the world?” He told me that the freezer overworks and it freezes it back there so the fan hits it and it makes all that noise. He had some stuff on his toolbox that he utilized and the refrigerator has been perfect ever since. So I had a good experience with AHS before and even now. We’re kinda still working on the pool though but I’m positive about it. I’m hoping that it will be resolved soon. I’ve used AHS before and if I had any issues, they came out and took care of everything. So I would definitely recommend them.

He said he couldn’t touch it because there was no circuit board and that we were not covered for a saltwater pool. Then I called American Home Shield they told us that we were covered. The AHS rep was the nicest young lady. She had us wait on the line and called the company and verified that we were under contract and that we were covered for the control panel. Then she came back on the line with us and said that it should be no problem. So they came out and fixed the problem. But we had the pump continue to leak, so we put it back in. The gasket was loose and they came out and they fixed everything.

The first gentleman who came out was rude and we were not happy with him. But the second person who came out to replace it was very pleasant, professional and respectful even though he was from the same company. He went out of his way and told us what else was going on with our pool, which was really helpful. American Home shield has been completely consistent with the follow-ups and making sure that we’re not having continued difficulties with the people who are doing the service. Any time I speak to anybody on the phone is always a pleasant experience. AHS had been amazing. This is a 180-degree difference compared to the last home warranty that we had. I have been waiting since 5/29/18 to receive service on my fridge, have spent up to 6 hours maybe 7 on calls to AHS that have been transferred, dropped or not returned. They have so many departments and their hands are tied as to what they can do, they always have to put you on hold to ask someone else. Many times there is a language barrier and the hold times are LONG. It gets very tiring listening to the first 5 minutes of them verifying your account and I get this, but having to put SO many calls into them in a day when it should be resolved in 2 not 15.

I understand they don't have control over some of the poor contractors they send and I think this is because contractors do NOT like working with home warranties, but then again I am paying almost a $1000.00 a year for one or two repairs every 2 years for that! I will be researching other warranty companies when my contract ends because they penalize you for canceling for their inability to resolve.

My gas water heater stopped working last Tuesday so I called AHS to have someone come out and repair it. AHS contracted out Mr. Rooter in which they contacted me the next day to set up appointment for the following day. Mr. Rooter employee shows up and goes in the attic and get the water heater started and proceeds to tell us that it’s not working due to the fact a plastic storage tote was too close to the water heater and that’s why it wasn’t working. Well an hour after he left it stopped working.

I called AHS that same night to report that the water heater and then received a call from Mr. Rooter to set a appointment for the following day again. Well two days after the first appointment the same guy for Mr. Rooter comes out again, he is a hour and a half late and I had to call him because we were waiting on him all day so we could to go to a family function we didn’t get to go to, and he gets the water heater started and proceeds to now tell us that it is too hot in the attic and we need to have a fan placed in the attic to blow on the water heater so it doesn’t get too hot. Kinda odd we haven’t had this problem the last two years we have lived here.

Well once again shortly after he leaves it stops working again. Once again I call AHS and they set up a appointment for two days out. I received a call from Mr. Rooter that morning stating I had a appointment between 1-5 again and 5 rolls around again so I call AHS. At this point it’s been almost a week and we have been spraying off our three children in shower like you would a dog because there is no hot water to take a bath. Well I call AHS and pretty upset at this point and they tell me their system shows that someone has already been to our house and fixed the problem. Then was really mad and told AHS they need to fix this now and the employee tells me “let me talk”.

Well you can imagine the kindest words didn’t come out of my mouth. I get hung up on shortly after that. I call back and another employee places me on hold to see if she can get ahold of them on a emergency call out and we get disconnect. Call back again and get told now the company that will be fixing the water heater will now contact me tomorrow to set up an appointment to come out. My family and I have now been without hot water for a week, spraying our kids off in the shower and now I’m getting a hotel room so we can take warm showers and baths. Whole reason why I purchased this home warranty is because I have to travel with my work and I’m not home every day so if something went wrong someone could come out and fix the problem and well I was wrong. My biggest issue is that my wife and I have to miss work and mainly coordinate the entire effort between AHS and their contractors.

The entire diagnosis process AHS has is poorly manage as well to me when you start hitting multiple delays. Likely we may have to wait for another part to be ordered and this process could hit 10 days. So bottom line I am paying AHS for service but handling the effort. Tomorrow when I get back on the clock for AHS, I will ask yet again when is my window for AC contractor and if possible at the very least the AC contractor talks to electrician while they are here. However, it was frustrating that we used two different services instead of the same guys and then both of them said two different things. One was a switch and one was a door switch, and it was odd. It has never happened before and all of a sudden, it happened two times. It caused a lot of frustration. You didn’t know what exactly happened and here it is, one little switch but you never know. You take their word for it that that’s what they said. It seemed like it was making more noise out there but the contractor looked at everything and said that he didn’t see anything else wrong with it.

On the other hand, so far, it's been working so perhaps he was right. Also other than that, the 75$ which I have to pay for the service call would have been better off with AHS if it was something a little bit more involved. But as it turned out, I could have paid that to anybody. Moreover, I've talked to different people about the services and a lot of times in different situations, it's a valuable service. It was also odd because I had a repair person out here at the beginning of the year for the microwave and he was able to access it and figure out what was wrong. The air conditioner and the fan motor are still going good and if there are any other problems in the next 60 days, he'll come back out with no service fee. If AHS wasn’t good, I would cancel it. I'm happy with it and I don’t have a problem.

My washing machine doesn’t drain for some reason when it goes through a certain cycle. It doesn’t happen every time, but every once in a while, it gets stuck on the last cycle so, it does not drain at all. I would shot back the water out of it and then wring all the clothes out and put them on the dryer. The tech came over, did some tests and told me to wait as long as possible because it eventually kicks back on and it might take a day or two. He didn’t see anything at the moment so he told me to take pictures the next time it happens and that I had 60 days if I needed to call in again before I was charged another $75. He was a nice guy. He came later than what he was supposed to because I don’t get out of work until 4:00 and he stayed late to come see me after work.

The same tech came out and did my microwave before it died. He explained everything and what he could do and what he couldn’t do. He looked at the microwave and then sent me the email with the options for the new microwave or if I wanted to upgrade. He came and put it in when it came and so, it was easy. I've been with American Home Shield for three years and I recommended them to a couple of my friends who just bought houses strictly for peace of mind. I told them that when their washer or something important breaks, they only have to pay 75 bucks and the contractors will come out and fix it for them rather than having to buy a whole new equipment.

Their guy understood what I was talking about then he checked into it and said he'll take care of it. A couple of days later, a tech came and he was good as gold. He told me what he was doing and said that he might have to check it out but that he’d try one thing first to see if it would do it. So far, with everything that we've called with American Home Shield, everybody has been pretty much professional. We had leaky faucets so I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield. Then a plumber from DNB Plumbing Home Services came out about two weeks ago. We had new inserts but the faucets were so corroded they had to be replaced. The faucets were also damaged from the tools that were used when they were being taken off. The plumber needed some more parts and he ordered the new faucets from the company. He then told me to contact him when the new faucets came in. So when they came in, we called and set up the appointment. I told them Friday and they were supposed to show up at 5:00 yesterday. At about 6:30, I tried to call but the office hours were over so I left a message for them. They had a five-hour window and I waited all day but I never heard from them so I'm really not interested in having them back in my house. I know they can't be more reliable.

I recently had an electrical issue with my garage door and American Home Shield sent somebody out under the warranty and it didn't work. It stopped working so I called somebody else. The person that they sent said that they didn't install an extra rail across the new door so that was why it stopped working. But I haven't had a problem with a technician yet, just with what they don't cover. I've been in my house and with American Home Shield for 16 years and whenever I submit a claim it's just always, "Well, this is not covered." They'll send someone, you'll pay your service call but more than likely it's something that they don't cover. I've only had one situation where they actually covered it and that had to do with the air conditioning call. I feel as though if I'm paying them $500 extra a year they're gonna pay for whatever needs to be done and then they don't.

When the first tech came out for my air conditioning, he had a pickup truck and was wearing shorts. He had no identification and no tools to speak of. I thought it was odd and I wasn’t comfortable with him. I even called American Home Shield on it and I told them that something was wrong but they said they check out their people. But this guy was telling me that he has worked for this contracting company for two or three months so that told me that American Home Shield did not check this guy or the the company out.

When the guy from the second company came out, he was basically the same way. The guy started out the conversation with me by saying that he really didn’t feel like doing the job that day. He fiddled around and asked if it was a second opinion. When I said yes, he asked me what the first opinion was and I told him. I even went so far as to show him the paperwork. I was so stupid. About 15 minutes later, he came back to me and said that his opinion was the same as the first one. Then the paper he gave me was like one of those little receipt pads that you get from Staples. It was like a little invoice and he had no name on the paper.

I asked him what we were gonna do and he started talking about us needing a maintenance program. So he was trying to sell me that then he said he would be back. A week passed and he never called in the second opinion. I had to call three or four times. American Home Shield also tried to contact him and they couldn’t contact him either. I told American Home Shield that the guy probably didn’t turn the stuff in. Then finally last week, we got a hold of him and they came up with some price but only for one unit, not both units. They said they would have something in for American Home Shield that evening but they never did. So I went back to the first people and they’re gonna come out this Monday.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for a little while and I’m fine with them but I’m not happy with their vendors. I honestly believe they are junk. These people have friends who either wanna get into business or are into business and they’re passing off the job to somebody else. The technicians have no ID and they come up in their personal vehicles. They’re really not professional. I’ve called American Home Shield but the never do anything about it.

They were able to address the issue in two days. It was done quickly and then we called them again another time for our well pump. That wasn't that quick but it wasn't really on their behalf. It was mostly on their contractors that they assigned me. They have been working with AHS for just a short period and they didn't want to go through AHS. They wanted me to pay out of pocket instead of getting AHS to pay them for some reason. And then I called AHS and they were like, "What?" Then they sent me somebody else and that person came the same day. They split their work and it was so quick.

If I file the claim online, it would be the luck of the draw in getting assigned to a contractor and there's one guy that I don’t ever want to see again. Two weeks had walked on, but this guy would not get orders placed and Altus Air had to come out and fix what he did, and they got the work done by the time that we needed it to be done. The technician of Altus Air found parts that weren’t even put back into the air conditioner by the other guy. He got the AC fixed within 30 minutes and it has been working fine since the repair.

My first experience with American Home Shield I called them up and folks were dispatched and it went pretty good. But the second claim, for the repair of an outdoor hose bib which is all within the contract, it was really sad. AHS had some very uninformed agents. I explained it to them about five different times after they had sent a note denying it. And the hose bib can only be denied if there's some kind of an alleged freeze. In Texas right now, it's not freezing so I tried to explain it to them and after 30 days of phone calls, they said, "Well now, it's gone beyond the time."

Some of the folks who called me back definitely struggled with the English language. Maybe English is their second language. It was difficult trying to get them to understand the claim and I really don’t know how they outsource these folks but as I understand, their headquarters is in Memphis, It was just very strange to me that I didn’t have fairly articulate claims folks who go, "Oh, I see that." "Yeah, that's fine." "Okay, let's revisit that." "Let me call you back."

And so they would say, "We're gonna have authorization call you back." Two times they did that. Then the two times I called back, they said, "Authorization doesn’t call people back." The reason I bought AHS was it's rated as the top home warranty outfit. And this is just a hose bib. And then I had another claim on my heating and air conditioning. I really had to work the claim and remind them what's in their own contract on things that need to be repaired. They got disinformation.

They tried to deny the claim again based upon saying, "In an air conditioning unit, there's a drip pan from the condensed state so your air conditioning is up there running and it throws off water and the pan had rusted through or something. It needed to be repaired." The guy that was out here said, "Yeah, it's good to go. I'll just take it back and we’ll get you a new one." So AHS calls back and says, "I'm sorry. Your claim's denied. We don’t repair the emergency drain pan." It wasn’t the emergency drain pan. It was the main pan which they do repair so I called back the HVAC company.

They had to call AHS back and AHS said, "Oh, yup, we got it wrong." I've only been with them since February but working the claim shouldn't be this tough. I'm sure that there are people who do fraudulent things and they have to watch that and that's fine. I'm more dissatisfied than satisfied and that makes me sad because I bought the top plan, Triple Combo Plan. So that's like everything a residential home person could buy. It's almost $800 a year which is about twice what you would pay for say, a home warranty if you were selling your home. It's kinda like I went shopping at Macy's and I'm worried that I bought something from the Dollar Tree. I've got no resolution on the hose bib. For all I know now, I could call back and they can say, "Sorry, it's been denied." I'm fighting that claim. I finally got the HVAC claim resolved because I had to correct their misinformation. That's what's frustrating to me with it. And I pay like clockwork.

With the HVAC claim I actually called a local outfit because in addition to the fan going out and my 88-year old mother was here, very hot, I had no HVAC and it was almost 90 in the house. And an AHS representative would not expedite the claim to get somebody out here. So I just called somebody else. I ended up paying $170 to get a capacitor of the fan that needed to be repaired then fired back up.

I came from the construction trade so I have some knowledge that helps me say now, "Wait a minute. You guys have the wrong pan." I'm sure that average everyday person that doesn’t work outside the home or even another person who is out in the workplace all day and is like, "I don't know. I don’t know anything about this stuff." So forcing folks to work the claim beyond what appears to be uninformed agents is just kind of this classic insurance thing where, "Yeah, we're gonna try and keep as much of the premium as we can," while they're clicking out 40% profits all year long. But I did get the HVAC and the house bib repaired. So know your contract and be ready to work your claim hard.

I had a stoppage in the kitchen sink and a leak in the downstairs half bath. They were simple claims with American Home Shield and Roto-Rooter got them done. They did the kitchen sink and it was just something loose for the commode that was leaking downstairs. However, for the third claim, I didn't know where exactly the leak was coming from or the terminology that I needed to use so I said "leak." But the leak was coming from the valve so I have to specifically say "valve." And so for that reason, the contractor couldn't touch my tub.

With American Home Shield, you have to be specific with the terminology and I'm assuming it's for liability. But to a homeowner, if I have a leak, I have a leak and I don't know how else to put it. But other than that, the experience was fine. The plumber said they'd be here between 8:00 and 12:00 and they were here around 9:30 so that was good. And they were only here maybe 30 minutes from start to finish so it was simple as far getting them here. I went online to submit the claim, the plumber called me, I returned the call and then we set up the appointment. And for the AC vent, my first claim to American Home Shield, I did the same thing.

I'm single and I've been in this house for 10 years so my house is now a bit older. And so having some type of a warranty helps because I have somebody to call. It's easy to request the service from American Home Shield. I go online, they ask me what the issue is, I request for the service and then they have somebody call me. So that takes out the hassle of having to search for somebody. I pay the $40 monthly fee but it's worth it if I use them three or four times a year. American Home Shield has done what they said they would do and they get whatever I need and it's done very quickly. I would definitely recommend them to anybody that has a home.

I submit claims with American Home Shield over the phone and sometimes I have to wait a long time. Their representatives are helpful, however, some contractors are not very competent. Sometimes, AHS sends some technicians that don’t know very well, so that’s a problem. I recently had an issue with my Trane AC and the first guy that came out didn’t know how to fix it, and I told him not to touch it and not make any mess. He told me himself that he doesn’t know Trane. AHS sent another guy and he fixed it. The air conditioner has been very good since the repair and the second contractor knew what he was doing. It took him 30 or 40 minutes and he put some Freon.

Overall American Home Shield needs to evaluate the contractor and they have to check how they’re rating. Sometimes, some contractors try to cheat me. They come over and check and say, “Oh, that’s not covered by the American Home Shield.” Even though it’s covered, they do that kind of trick, then they want to charge the customer more money.

My experience with American Home Shield has been great in the last six years. My real estate agent got the home warranty when we bought the house and AHS was the one that was offered in the contract. And recently, I made a claim for the exhaust fan of the stove and the process of submitting it online went smooth. A guy came out and ordered the part but when the order came in, it was the wrong part. The people got ahold of me and apologized. A few days later, they got the right part in, and everything was taken care of.

Also, I only have one issue with the pump for the pool as it was screaming so loud that all of the neighborhood can hear it. I called it in to AHS and people came out. The technicians looked at it and said that the pump is still pumping and there was nothing wrong with the pump. I said that the electric motor is starting to go out and the barring is screaming. The technicians told me that if the pump is still pumping, there is nothing they can do. Then, they left. I got ahold of American Home Shield again and they sent out another party. A young man came and said that the barring is going out. He changed the barring out and everything went real smooth after that.

Today, I called AHS to cancel our contract since we are moving in three days. The first guy I spoke to was so conned and I couldn’t understand him. He was way out there and then he ended up disconnecting me. So, I called back and I got another person who could hardly speak English and they kept asking what my claim was when I told them I have to cancel my contract. It got frustrating having to deal with people that can’t speak English and I despise that. The last rep put me on something and said, “Your wait will be longer than two minutes so we will get back with you” and there was a click. So, I still don’t know if my contract has been canceled. We’re selling the house over Monday and I am recommending AHS to the people that are buying our house.

The outside unit of the AC was going on and off. It would run for about 15 seconds, make a terrible noise and be off for 45 then come back on for 15. So I filed a claim on it online on a weekend. On Monday, I got the confirmation that American Home Shield got it and they said I would get a call from the AC people in 24 hours. I got the call on Tuesday and then the technician came out on Thursday.

He was a really nice guy but he couldn’t find anything wrong. I played the recording I made of it and it had a real gravelly awful sound but the unit wouldn’t reproduce the problem for him. So he couldn't tell what was wrong. It would come on eventually and stay on, which he checked to make sure it did. It was working fine. He asked how low I could do on my thermostat so I cranked it all the way down to about 60. I don’t ever cool my house to that level but it ran beautifully. The house got really cold.

He checked everything and they were all working. The Freon was completely tanked up. There were no leaks and the switches all worked. He also went up in the attic and looked at the unit up there. He didn't know why the unit was doing that. The guy was like, “I am so sorry, ma’am. You are doing the right thing figuring you get us out here to fix the problem before it became a catastrophic but there's nothing wrong.”

My initial thought was to tell the air conditioner people that I got a newbie who didn't know his job. But they told me that he was one of their more experienced technicians. He was one of their best and has got years of experience. But I guess he had never heard a machine do that before. When the air conditioner company called me to see if I was satisfied with the service, I told them that the reality was that no matter how experienced a technician you are, if you come across a situation you haven't ever encountered before, you really can't do anything about it.

The AC in my father-in-law's house had a problem and while the technician was fixing it, I told him about my AC. He knew what I was talking about when I described the problem. He had encountered it before and said that with the kind of system we had, it was probably gonna break down and have to be replaced. I thought I was being proactive jumping in there and trying to fix it immediately before I have to go any length of time with no air conditioning. But he said that based on what I described, the unit was gonna fail catastrophically but there was no telling when that can happen. It could happen tomorrow or in a couple more years.

He said if there's a pressure switch on the system, it could be that but he didn’t know for sure whether there are pressure switches on my particular system. I told him the technician had checked everything, including all the switches and the capacitors. My father-in-law's technician said that if that was the case, the air conditioner may very well be on its last legs and was starting to go. Sometimes machines are weird. We just have to wait and see what it's gonna do. But I'm perfectly fine with American Home Shield and I would recommend them.

We live in south Texas near San Antonio where it is hot in the summer. Our home central HVAC system stopped working April 1, 2018. We immediately contacted American Home Shield because we have had a home warranty with that company for several years. American Home Shield sent a technician to our home during the week of April 2-6. He evaluated the system and said we could use our American Home Shield home warranty to repair the system by replacing only parts that were broken or we could pay ourselves to replace the complete system without help from American Home Shield.

We decided to use our American Home Shield home warranty, being told the system would fine once it was repaired. This would cost us much less than paying to replace the entire system ourselves. However, we had no choice of which HVAC company we could use for the repairs. We were required by American Home Shield to use Quantum Mechanical of San Antonio.

In the 10 weeks that followed, American Home Shield sent technicians to our home more than 20 times. The technicians from Quantum Mechanical did not wear uniforms or name tags. They always came to our home in unmarked vehicles without the company's name or state license number displayed anywhere. The owner of the company seldom answered our calls and came to our home only once during the 10 weeks when his technicians made at least 20 service calls to our home.

Throughout these 10 weeks, we repeatedly called service representative at American Home Shield. Often we would only get a recorded message and leave a voicemail asking for help. The response was slow and often took more calls from us. The results were always the same. After more days of summer heat, the guys from Quantum Mechanical would return.

In those 20+ service calls, technicians from Quantum Mechanical fixed leaking refrigerant lines in several places, replaced the compressor and fan in the outside unit, and replaced the air handler and drain pan in the attic. American Home Shield would not authorize replacement of the entire system, just repair of what was broken. Numerous times the technicians from Quantum Mechanical would get the unit to cool for a few hours or days and then stop working. The technicians would return a few days later to deal with new issues.

On one occasion, the technicians said the problem was in our home breaker box/electrical panel. The 2 50-amp breakers that controlled the current to the AC were ruined, probably from all the strain put on them by the various repairs and modifications done to it. So we paid an electrician to replace those breakers. Twice during these 10 weeks the system malfunctioned and water poured through the ceiling in the upstairs hall. The damaged Sheetrock is quite visible but the technicians said it was not their fault. The service representative at American Home Shield did not seem to care.

Last week, on Monday, June 11, the technicians returned and got the system to cool again. It did for a few days but stopped on Thursday June 14. We called immediately but had to wait 4 days for help to arrive. Call to service representative at American Home Shield just went to voicemail. After several more phone calls, the technicians returned today, Monday, June 18, and replaced the damper board in the air handler in the attic and replaced the thermostat in the downstairs living area. Yet, the system still would not cool.

They then discovered that the system was empty of refrigerant/Freon because of a new broken line in the outside unit. They said the break was one they could not repair. They would need to get approval from American Home Shield if possible, to order a new part to replace what was broken. After 10 weeks of putting up with the incompetence of Quantum Mechanical and the inability and unwillingness of American Home Shield to help us, I told the technicians to get their tools, leave immediately, and not return. We still have no AC after 10 weeks thanks to American Home Shield. I want every home owner to know how American Home Shield treats its customers. By the way, my wife and I are both licensed Realtors.

I called the company in December 2017 to change the payment draft date until the 25th of each month. I was assured that it was taken care of. They've overdrawn my account 3 times in the past 6 months. After the second time, I took my payment information off file and paid online. When my contract came up for renewal, a retention specialist guaranteed me it would not draft before the 25th of the month. It drafted on 4/27/18 and then again on 5/20/18. Because it drafted early and overdrafted my bank account I felt I could no longer trust the company to do what they agreed to. I cancelled service and asked for a refund. For 3 weeks they told me they were processing a refund, but on 6/12/18 they told me there would be no refund because of a contract termination fee. I shouldn't have to pay a termination fee when I cancelled due to repeated errors on their part.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY‼️! They don’t return calls and tell you whatever they can to get you off the phone. After weeks of doing what they tell you and after 7 different agents talking to the service tech, they say they aren’t covering anything (spa and hot water heater)! Huge ripoff... BEWARE‼️! And they won’t give me any of my correspondence with them to take to my attorney! I give them negative stars.

After I called the A/C contractor 3 times, they sent me a text message saying they don't cover my area. After long holds on the phone back to American Home Shield, I finally was told that there are no service reps in my area. The last time I called on my pool pump, I got the same answer. AHS reps didn't get the point that they were not satisfying my needs. I spent 2 hours (2 separate calls) on hold with their cancellation department trying to cancel my policy. Finally I complained on a 3rd call and they said someone will call me within 24 hours. There is no place on their website to cancel a policy. There is no place on their website to place a complaint. They are a ripoff.

Have been an American Home Shield customer for years and have had generally decent service until the most recent service call request. Gas water heater began leaking 6/15/18 in the later afternoon. Immediately notified AHS for service call. AHS quickly had a plumber contact us, only for the plumber to advise that he didn't work on our type of gas heater. Notified AHS immediately, as water didn't stop leaking just because the plumber assigned didn't know how to work on the appliance.

AHS then notified another vendor with which we were familiar, but didn't expect to hear from them until the next day. Come 6/15/18 (Sat) 5:45 am the next morning, the garage was flooding and the water was pouring heavily from the water heater. Notified the vendor around 6:34 am CDST to leave an emergency voicemail message that we had an emergency situation and required immediate assistance. Meanwhile, had to turn the water off at the street to stem the flow of water, so no water for the entire house or animals. Had to use neighbor's hose for water. 90+ degree heat. No bathing, no drinking water, no nothing.

Last time I checked, notice to the agent (vendor) is notice to the principle (AHS). No call all day from the vendor. Left another voicemail message same day in the late afternoon that we were without water and needed help. Called AHS and explained our situation to an agent only for the line to be disconnected. I immediately called AHS back, only to receive a recorded message that AHS was closed.

Called AHS the following morning and spoke with an agent, once again explaining our situation. They said that the vendor had to contact us within 24 BUSINESS hours, which did not include weekends, despite my insistence that this was an emergency service request. I escalated to a supervisor, who said that when the service call request was placed on Friday, it was not flagged as an emergency, even though I notified the vendor and AHS that it was in fact an emergency the day prior. I requested outside authorization to utilize a contractor of my choice since the one they assigned never contacted me. I agreed to wait 4 hours (from the time of the call, not BUSINESS hours) to hear from a service vendor now that the claim was flagged as an emergency. I advised that if I did not hear from the vendor that I would seek outside authorization to use a contractor of my choice.

4 hours plus came and went without receiving a call as promised, so I called AHS at 3:35 pm CDST, only to be told by the agent (Bethanne) that her computer was down. I immediately called back and received the same message from a second agent. I called back a third time, and my call was disconnected. Monday, 6/18/18 still no water.

Called AHS 7 am CDST today (when they open). Had agent Bobbie transfer me to Vonn in their escalations department (service support specialists team). She told me that a vendor (#3 now) had been assigned and would be out to our house today. If AHS could reach someone at vendor # 3, why could they not have called me as promised. I again requested outside authorization to engage my own contractor, which she refused and was more argumentative than her colleague yesterday. I left a voicemail message with her supervisor, Kamria ** in the Memphis office, requesting outside authorization. I have yet to hear from Ms. **, but I can predict that I will hear nothing new. Most of our issues requiring AHS service calls have not been of the emergency variety, but when it came time to step up in a real emergency, AHS fell flat on its face. Needless to say, I am terminating my relationship with them today.

We have never heard back from him. Several days later we contacted American Home Shield, telling the agent we had still not been helped and that Scott did not return calls. We were told the company had to order the part and it would take 3 to 5 days. Well, 10 days later, June 16th, agent Chastity stated we had to allow 3 to 5 days, right from her scripted note card, and the service man would arrive on Monday, June the 18th.

In AHS’s notes from our call to them on June 8th they have information that we were leaving town early on the 18th and would be away for 1-1/2 months. Chastity said, "Sorry that’s when they’ll be there" and was very insolent and condescending. My last call was to the service man to tell him I wanted my part back so I can get someone to fix the air conditioner. Bad experience!

I’m very satisfied with AHS. In fact, I’m talking to all my friends who are buying a house or own a house to have American Home Shield. The only problem I’m having right now is whenever there is a deductible, AHS always takes twice. They double charged me in May for the air conditioner, then they double charged me in June for the refrigerator. So my Bank of America account is now negative $235. I went to Bank of America, but they told me that it’s not their problem and that I have to call American Home Shield. When I called AHS, they were courteous and helpful. The last time I talked to them on June 15th, they told me that they will put my money back into my account but they never credited me.

The system we have is a GE monogram series and they're only providing $1,600 to replace it. The new one is $1,000 more and we've been searching and trying to find a better deal. He had to order the part and he would call me once he got the part back in and schedule when to come back out and they scheduled it again on my work schedule. The electric, the garbage disposal, and the air conditioner were corrupted all in one week. And American Home Shield was very good at either replacing or fixing everything that needs to be done. The garbage disposal exploded as the water shot out of the middle of it when I flipped it on. So, I made a claim online to American Home Shield and told them to bring a new garbage disposal as it cannot be fixed and we needed a new one.

When the plumber person called me, I told them what the problem was and told them what we needed too. The plumber asked me to check and see what size we have to make sure they have that size in their truck. Everything has been great with the contractors and our interaction went well. They came out and did their job. Then, when my air conditioner quit working, I've had the air conditioning guy come. There was a reset button on the rear air conditioning outside so all he had to do was push the button. A couple of them were silly things that I wished I just did it.

It was extremely difficult to get through on the phone line of American Home Shield though. A part of it might have been the timing when something happened in Florida. There was a high volume of calls and I had to sit on the phone for two hours waiting. So, once I figured out how to file the claim online, I've always done it that way now because it's easier. Also, when I had to have a refrigerator replaced, their process was slow. They didn’t encourage me like, "We're gonna replace it and these are the choices." So, it took so much time trying to figure the process out and it was a little confusing to me. But other than that, everything has been timely and easy to understand if I had to have any problems. I definitely wouldn't buy a house without American Home Shield because I don't know what I’ll be expecting or getting in the new house.

When I had problems with the air conditioner, the contractor that AHS sent out looked at it. I have dual air conditioners here. So I wanted him to check both while he was here. So he checked a few things on it on his own and he said that it was good. However, the following week, the air conditioner he looked at, went out. I called AHS and explained that to them. But they said that I had to pay another service charge for it since it was not the one they had worked on. Then I said that nobody in their office told me that I had to pay for another service call for anything and if they were checking the air conditioner, they should check both of them. Then I asked to talk to their supervisor, and they said that would get him. They came back on the line and said that they would take care of it. So they waived the fee for that.

It took about a week for them to repair the unit. We had temperatures of 100 degrees, but luckily I bought a portable unit that I was able to use until they got the circuit board. So other than having to wait on the part, their service is good. And I would recommend them. I have the top of the line policy with AHS where I have to pay $100 each time I have somebody out. But if you’re trying to save, why wait for something to go out? That’s gonna cost more money on repair costs than to schedule them to come out and check the electrical. Other than that, I haven’t had any problems with American Home Shield. The people they’ve sent out are reputable and they’ve done a fantastic job. They solved my problem and I didn’t get any false information from them. They’ve lived up to what they’ve said.

Since we bought our home in December of 2017, we have been covered with American Home Shield. Submitting a claim with them is no problem. I do it online and as soon as it’s assigned, I call the contractor. We had a problem with the seals on the toilets and there was a leak from the dishwasher line. AHS sent good contractors who were also kind. They came in, did the job and were clean and left.

However, we had a terrible time with AHS when the sewer line broke in the basement. It was on a Saturday and when I called to report it to get somebody out here. It was a health emergency because raw sewage was spilling in the basement into our family room, Then one lady told me that they would expedite it, but she didn’t know if we would be able to get anybody out until Monday. Then I called back three hours later and asked if they were getting someone out or if I would have to pay for this on my own and send someone else. And this person told me that the first one lied to me and that they never have anybody available on a Saturday and Sunday since they won’t pay the overtime to those plumbers.

We had to go through my own insurance company and part of my own expense until the AHS contractor could get out here. It took them until Wednesday of that week to get someone out here to fix that. It was horrendous. I was ready to call the local TV station. My own insurance company had to pay for new carpeting, new flooring, and everything in my family room because AHS did not step up and do what they needed to do on a weekend because they would not pay overtime. I was very unhappy with them and I would not recommend them to anyone.

We just bought the house and everything inside was original. We've had a couple of claims with American Home Shield and someone is always there to answer when I've used it. It's easy to do it online and they always verify your information when you call in. Then, they assign a contractor immediately and some of them you have to call but most of the time, they call you. We've had Crown Services and they've been really great and easy to work with. Also, they were very knowledgeable, professional, and really straightforward, and they seemed to know what they're doing, which is important because they're coming into your home. But they have a company they work with called Allstate Plumbing. I only see bad reviews about them and a lot of their bad comments come from Allstate. It reflects on them and that shouldn't be the case because AHS is a good company.

The first time we used it I wasn’t sure how it works, so I provided my own faucet. The tech was nice enough to just install the one we had there and did it that day. Sometimes you can have the company pay for it, but I wanted one that has like motion sensor and stuff so he politely installed the one we had there. I love AHS because it would have been expensive. Plumbers are like $150 each time they come to your house, so for it to just be $75 for the visit is a way better fee than having to pay the hourly rate and then if they can fix it or not is what's based on the part. AHS has been good since it was included in the house. So we're probably gonna renew again when it comes up.

He determined that the Freon was low and so he added it in. He explained that the contract only pays for the service call and not for the Freon. He then completed the work and the air conditioner has been working well ever since. He also advised me and it's a 60 or 90-day warranty on that repair. I've got a reminder date set on my calendar to double check to see how the air conditioner is performing before the warranty is out. So far, it's been good with AHS. We've had a garage door issue about six months ago and then we had the swimming pool pump heater issue and they fixed that. It’s all working pretty well. You should consider American Home Shield. My experience with American Home Shield was not a good one when I filed a claim for plumbing. I called them over the phone because at that time, I didn’t have my contract number to do it online. They said that they sent me the contract papers but it had been returned back to them. When I was looking at the address that they have for it to be returned or sent to me, they had my incorrect address. So I called the other day to give them the correct address. The contractor ended up calling my phone to ask me what my address was and he told me that he was at a different house number.

KNS Plumbing came out but before we called them and got the insurance back, we called Roro-Rooter. The problem was under the bathtub in the hall bathroom and Roro was saying that it was under plumbing. According to the guy from KNS, from his experience, he said he didn’t see anything wrong but I knew what was wrong and we were telling him what Roto-Rooter said. But he said he can’t go about what anyone said. He said as long as he doesn’t see anything right now, it’s nothing that he could fix. So then we also told him that the guy said to look behind the refrigerator in the kitchen and you can see where the pipe is running from and you could see the water there. He didn’t look behind the refrigerator. He ran the water in the bathtub and said it was running down pretty fine. I had him look outside to see if there was anything stopped up outside and he said nothing was.

I was telling him that when my son takes a sit-down bath in the tub, it stops up everything and water will run from the hall bathroom to the master bedroom into the laundry room which could be where how the pipe is connected. He still didn’t see anything wrong and I’m still having this problem. He also told me to run the bathwater but I told him that it’s not gonna show up like that. So, he ran the water and it didn’t show up. But if you're constantly, in that shower or in that bathroom, running water day by day, or if you’re washing clothes at the same time or something like that, it stops up. The other night, I had to put a towel down, coming out of my bedroom into my bathroom because it ran up there. My son took a shower around about 2:30 in the morning. And when I got up to use the bathroom, I noticed the carpet was wet.

He told me to take a picture the next time it happens and to send it to him. I don't have to do that when all he has to do is just pull the refrigerator out of the way and look behind the wall, wherever the cover hold is in that pipe right there, to look and see what’s going on in there. So to keep paying $100 for someone to tell me that they don’t see the problem and they’re not gonna pull the refrigerator out to find out the problem where the water is coming from, I don’t need that.

I called AHS and when I talked to the rep, she said that it will stay good for six months. And I told her that the service did not do me any good at all. I told both the guy and the girl from AHS what the problem was and it was my word against theirs. I had a real bad experience with him and he ended up leaving and nothing was done. Also, when the guy came over, he wasn’t in uniform and had on a real raggedy t-shirt and a pair of cut-off shorts. There was nothing that said who his company was or who he worked for. Then he was in a truck that had no name on the truck.

I also talked to a gentleman one night and he was very short. He was not rude but I got the feeling that he didn't really wanna be at work.

Then, American Home Shield sent someone out who gave me a quote, but I wasn't pleased with them. The amount that the company was trying to charge for Freon was ridiculous. I also wanted to know if I could use a different product and if there was another stuff that was cheaper, because they wanted to put an R22 for the Freon and I knew that was going away. They told me to go to American Home Shield to get it approved but American Home Shield said they didn't care and that I had to go back to the company. I went back to the company and they said I couldn't do it.

It was extremely hot and very frustrating at the time and I had to upgrade. So, I chose to not keep going back and forth, so I got a new unit put in and it is much better than the one I had before. I ended up asking AHS to give me a cash out option and they are supposed to be sending me the check for whatever amount they decided on. It was only a couple of days later when AHS sent someone out and now everything is fine. There are a couple of other things like my water heater that I've had someone out, and the tech sent by AHS said, “We can't do anything with it. You just have to wait until it completely goes out”. The guy did some tests on it, and he said that it was one degree off from them having to replace it.

I filed a claim amongst my air conditioning unit. It wasn’t producing any air and American Home Shield sent two guys out. What really hooked me with the first guy was he was very sincere. He was saying that my line got chewed up by a dog or something of that nature. I don’t have any pets. We don’t even have pets in the neighborhood where I live but he looked at everything and he said, “Oh yeah, we'll come out and fix it. There's something going on with your compressor. We'll come out and fix it Monday.” And then I was waiting on a phone call to confirm the time and I didn’t get one so I called AHS. And after from listening to their notes to what he said, there was just nothing corresponding to what he said to me. And they said that what they were gonna do was send somebody else out to get a second opinion.

The second guy was a little more experienced and he kind of gave it a real good breakdown but calling them back it just didn’t seem like they had a formal solution or even try to hold me as a customer as far as resolving what I had going on. I just got a long runaround of why they didn’t do this and do that and so forth. And I just really wasn’t happy with it. So I went and got me a whole new unit out my pocket because it just seems like that runaround I got in was not gonna come to a point of AHS helping me. It just made me look further that if there's anything else I have going on, they probably will just do the same thing. I really wasn’t happy.

A plumber came and checked it, and he told me that it's usually noisy but that there is nothing wrong with it. Because he was already here, I also asked him to help me check the sink. I have two very slow sinks, he checked them and told me that they’re okay. He had come to my place before when he replaced the kitchen faucet because it was not fixable. We had an air conditioning issue where the outside unit started freezing up. My renter called me and let me know what the problem was. I submitted the claim online through my phone and I got quick service. I did the same thing online when I closed it out. So I placed the request for service and that afternoon I've already received a text that the work order was already transmitted. The next day, the service tech was already contacting me setting up the appointment. And then a day later after he fixed the problem, everything was resolved.

In the past, American Home Shield used to have it set up where they could either pay the contractor or not. There was always the confusion, "Did I pay or not?" But that's a lot easier now and I'm glad that American Home Shield reversed the situation. I pay American Home Shield and there's no question of whether or not they handled paying the contractors. Furthermore, they don't pay the technician any more than I pay them directly for all the services. I've recommended American Home Shield to other people.

I called American Home Shield because I didn't' know what was wrong with my pool. The contractor was very prompt and responsive. The guy calls me when he’s supposed to and does a great job. The pool has been working fine. However, AHS' customer service is tortious. Once you get the right vendor or somebody that was supposed to be coming out, it works. But when you do have an issue, you can’t get a hold of anybody.

It takes an hour to connect with somebody. They put you on hold forever. It seems like it’s their intent to not to talk to a person which makes it very problematic. Not in that claim in particular but other claims, when I had trouble and need to talk to somebody. It’s very difficult to the point that I almost consider not going with them. And working in an insurance and claims my entire life, that’s not how a customer should be treated.

Their dealing with the air-conditioning was awful. It was a hundred degrees out. When they assigned somebody, they couldn’t get out here for a week. And then when I tried to call, I got somebody to reassign the claims. They found somebody that could definitely be out there within 24 hours but that person wasn’t out for a week either. Also, the number they provided for the vendor wasn’t the right one. They were also trying to get people out of Oklahoma City when we live in Tulsa, which was another problem. I asked for a callback from a supervisor and nobody ever call me back. Do your research.

I've had good and bad experiences with American Home Shield. I've had some issues where I had to continue over and over to tell them what was needed. They've also told me that it wasn’t and that's happened at least three to four times. In addition, I've had some of their contractors try to charge me off of the American Home Shield when it was a covered issue. Also, I had one contractor that didn’t wanna do the work because AHS wasn’t paying him enough when he called. Another contractor wanted to charge me $300 to do something, so I told AHS to send me out somebody else. The person that they sent after the first one said that he would charge $200, but he'd see first if he could get it to work and I don’t have to pay anything. He got the appliance to work and I didn’t have to pay anything extra.

Additionally, when calling AHS, it takes forever for somebody to pick up. I'll be on hold for an hour and a half or 30 minutes, at least. They're trying to get people to use the internet because I used the internet the past week and it was much easier to make an appointment, but I like talking to somebody. Also, the quality of the work done by the contractors is good sometimes and sometimes, it isn't. I have to ask for the best person that they have and I got tired of them sending people who didn’t know how to handle some of the things that I needed.

I have two expensive shower units and they sent people out who one time, the guy said it was fixed and it wasn’t. I was so busy, I waited too late and I lost the money from having it done because I had to call within a certain amount of time in order for them to send someone else out which would still be under the contract. It took me about four people before they gave me somebody good enough who could work on my shower unit. It shouldn’t take me four different people in order for something to be fixed. I’m not happy with people telling me my claim is not covered, so I have to pay a certain amount of money. In the past, I really thought that AHS was good and I had recommended them, but I don’t recommend them anymore. I am thinking about going with another service.

The contractor called within 24 hours and since it wasn’t an emergency, they came two days later. The plumber was able to resolve the issue very quickly. It was something very simple and there was no follow up required. I paid for the service online, so there was no financial transaction between the vendor and myself.

I had American Home Shield at my previous home as well. Generally, they're very good and it takes two to three days to send someone out. Their technicians were very good. However, sometimes they try to take the easy way out as opposed to just replacing a part. They try to fix things before they replace the part and the ordering time is sometimes longer than I would expect it to be. Because they have to call in and have American Home Shield order the part. They can’t just do it themselves. I would definitely recommend AHS to others depending on the age of their house.

We've been with American Home Shield less than a year. We had a warranty prior and it came with the house that we bought six years ago, and because we had heavy use for one year they decided not to renew us. So we went shopping and AHS was very reasonable and same coverage, if not, a little bit more. They also gave us much better rate. It dropped 40%. We were paying over a $100 a month for the other product and AHS went down quite a bit. So we were happy with the policy.

When we had two recalls on the same problem with our appliance, it was a pain in the butt until we found the right service person that knew what the problem was. We're in a small town, separated from a lot of services. So for AHS to search for a service help isn't something I'm gonna hold against them. They worked hard with us to get this problem fixed. The AHS representatives were professional and helpful. They don't leave any questions unanswered or me hanging out. We came from a very large metropolitan area so I know what to expect with service and I would recommend AHS to others.

I'm a realtor and I usually submit claims with American Home Shield on behalf of my homeowners. The most recent claim I filed was for electrical and HVAC. I've started submitting the claims online more. It's a lot easier and I prefer doing it that way. Their website works really well. Then, we usually are dispatched to a particular vendor out in Montgomery and that has been a bit tricky and hasn't been the greatest. It was Myers and it's hit or miss. A lot of times it's frustrating, more so with the plumbing aspect than anything. However, the one we had this time, it was my first time working with him and it went a lot better. He was from Trinity Heating and Air, which I was recommended to ask for, and he was very nice, very knowledgeable and very helpful. It was a good experience and I was very pleased, even with the customer service.

However, I wasn't very impressed with their office. A lot of times they give you a four-hour window which is difficult, especially for me if I'm not the homeowner. But even for a homeowner that has a job to be with a 30-minute will-call-ahead kind of thing, that can be difficult. They called me and I missed their call. They didn’t utilize text whereas some of the other ones do and I usually put that on my online order to text. I don’t think that came through or something happened. So, we missed each other. They just seemed a little bit more old-fashioned and I really needed to text them on the phone.

Also, from the standpoint of a realtor who makes a lot of these calls, I noticed that I do have to be very sure, even if I go through the phone version, that I tell them exactly when they get there what to do just to make sure that everything on the list gets accomplished because sometimes it's not always translated. I reiterate that when they come.

I usually recommend AHS for the peace of mind, especially for an older home, for plumbing and electrical, more so than HVAC. For the plumbing, the coverage has been a bit easier. The electrical, it's always like, “Well, they don’t fix something that’s not there.” So, if it needs to be upgraded or if it doesn’t exist, they don’t do that. But if it's broken, they do it.

The HVAC has been very good unless it needs to be replaced. It could not be American Home Shield as much as it's the individual vendor. Again, it was that Montgomery vendor. The way that they offer the upgrade to replace the whole system was an issue. So, to replace the component that’s not working, no problem. They would do it. But most of the times, people are now wanting to replace the whole thing because the refrigerants are gonna be different nowadays. And I kinda feel like we were given a little bit of some bias. So, it wasn’t the peace of mind for an old system that I was hoping for to have it replaced, it was more like, “We'll fix it but we don’t necessarily cover getting you a new system."

My fridge wasn't cooling so I went to the American Home Shield website and submitted a claim. Astro Appliance came out and tried to replace the relay on the compressor. I thought maybe it wasn’t cycling off and that was why it was overheating. It wasn't obvious right away whether that worked or not so we had to wait. But it didn't so they came back out. They added some Freon to see if that was the problem but they overcharged the system with it and the whole system froze up. They came back out and released some of the pressure, and the unit started cooling but just back to where it was before. So we were back to square one.

The fan that cools the compressor was working. The relay was working and it had enough Freon. So the most recent conclusion was that the actual compressor is not cooling satisfactorily. A compressor has been ordered and they’re waiting for that to come in so they can come and replace it. Although we haven’t gotten the solution yet, Astro Appliance has been very diligent in trying to solve the problem and American Home Shield has been really reactive to my issues as well.

Everything was fine including filing that claim online. I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of months now and there was a very bad experience that I had with their service aide, their electrical contracting.

I emailed them about a complaint about it or under their survey, I put how poorly it was done, but I never heard back. There was a minor electrical problem, but there was a cable in the wall. I got a wire in the wall that had been stripped 'cause the person who installed it was an idiot. The guy came in to fix it. They put an outlet in the spot, where the joint had to be, 'cause they cut out the broken section and rewired it. But the box they put in was not on a GFCI circuit, even though it was right under a water area, which was not according to code. I haven't gotten an official response yet from the other electrician. And they also left all the garbage, like all the stripped wire, just sitting on the floor. They pushed it around the corner and walked away.

The only reason I've got American Home Shield is that when we bought the house, one of the conditions was that the previous seller included the warranty so that small problems could be fixed. I’ve used it three times now. There was an air conditioning problem that went reasonably well, but it took a couple of days for them to get there. There was the plumbing issue that was fixed well and the electrical issue that was done very poorly. But we had a problem with the company not following the directions to get a key from the condo association because I don’t live there. And so, I recalled AHS to reset up another appointment. The person that I spoke the day that appointment was missed told me that he couldn’t reset up an appointment until he found out if the appointment was fulfilled. He saw on the paperwork that I was a no-show, so he delayed it being fixed by a week because he wouldn’t reissue the work order. I was not pleased with that and then a few days later when I spoke to a woman, she said that was a ridiculous reason and that he should’ve reissued the order and the representative reissued it.

When I called AHS back to reset up the appointment, I asked them to give me somebody other than that company. The representative told me that it was not possible. The work order was issued and it had to be fulfilled by that company. They knew I was upset with the company but they still made them come out. It took them about 10 days before they finally came out and fixed it. I never want that company to come back again. You could not call them and get a hold of them to do anything. It was the worst experience I’ve had. My first experience with the appliance person was fine as they did their job and followed directions. Still, the second person was horrible.

I’ve been having American Home Shield for years and they have been great to me. My air condition unit had stopped working on the week we had 90 degrees and it was miserable. I just called in and submitted the claim then someone called me back within 48 hours. Two people came out from American Appliance and they was real nice and friendly. The unit is working now and it's great. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been awesome.

I have a friend who got a home warranty and they liked it. So I thought I’d get one. When our AC wouldn’t blow anything, I submitted a claim and American Home Shield got right on it. They sent a text that said they were in contact with a company that would be calling me, then the tech was out within a day or so. He explained what was broken and was very nice, personable and professional. I was impressed and very satisfied with American Home Shield. It is a good company and I can sleep better at night knowing they’ll come fix my stuff.

Our water heater was leaking and I filed a claim with American Home Shield. Ever since they did the online thing for filing claims, it has been amazing. I like that more than calling and the only time I’d call is if I want a specific company to work on the property. I love that I'm able to pick the company that we want to go out. But I absolutely hated the company that AHS sent for my water heater. Master Plumbers waited nine days to go out to my property. I called them every couple of days and they would say that they were getting on it. It was a small leak, so it wasn’t too bad. Then finally, it was ruining my floor. So, I called and the lady that answered the phone said, “We will get to it when we get to it.”

I decided to call American Home Shield to see if there was anyone else they could get on faster. The guy that answered was awesome and he called Master Plumbers, who told him the same thing. So, he went ahead and canceled it and I had to wait for somebody else to call me to figure out who else could go out. But then, Master Plumbers called me that evening saying that they could go out and I was okay with it. It took 30 minutes for their tech to assess the issue, get the water heater approved through AHS and then it was on its way.

But it took Master Plumbers another week to put the water heater in. I wrote down the exact day I called, the exact time, and how long I talked to them because it ruined my kitchen floors, bubbled up right where the entrance to the laundry room is at and they still tried to blame it all on me. They should’ve been on it and they told me that they don’t even really like American Home Shield. They were trying to blame it on American Home Shield but AHS had nothing to do with it. The only problem with filing the claim online is I didn’t get to specify what’s going on. So, I wasn’t able to actually put that the water heater was leaking. I just put water heater and that’s it. But other than that, American Home Shield replaced the water heater. So, I’m happy with the services that they provide and I’m gonna continue to get it. I just really hope that there’s another plumbing company in Hobbs that takes American Home Shield.

I've been with American Home Shield for about five years now and I haven't had any major concerns with them. But, I've had one bad experience with them when I first got them. I had to go over the girl's head who I talked to and I had to go to a supervisor who rectified it right away. It took me a while to get to that point, though, because she didn't think it was necessary to send a repairman out then. But, I tried to tell her that it was, so I had to go over her head.

The latest claim I filed with them was for my heat pump system. I have a maintenance on that and when the maintenance people came out, they said that I had a leak and that I had no Freon left. I called American Home Shield and when a tech came out, he basically just checked what I told him what's going on. He determined that there was no leak and that I had even excess Freon in the system. He also said that if it didn't have Freon, why would it be blowing cold air.

I never thought it was a Freon problem too, but I wanted to make sure before I turned it on for the summer that it had Freon in it. I think my heat pump is not cooling efficiently because when I put it on 77, it only will cool up to 80 degrees. It's just having a hard time stabilizing the temperature and pushing the system because the unit is old. It's 12 years old and it's taxing it because of this hot weather. However, the maintenance company did not agree with American Home Shield. The manager from the maintenance company said that the tech American Home Shield sent out was lying. He also said that my system wouldn't last through summer. So, I have contradictory reports.

My dishwasher wasn’t working. I called American Home Shield and the contractor that they sent out was fabulous but it took them a long time to get the parts. The tech had to do two circuit boards, the main board and the backup board, and that took a while. And there really wasn’t any communication until I called them back at National Platinum. They got the part in about three weeks, then I set up an appointment and their guy showed up. He diagnosed and fixed the problem, then he was gone in less than an hour.

I called American Home Shield and they called me back with the plumber that they assigned the water heater to and then, the plumber came out and gave AHS the estimate. I was waiting for them but they called my son’s number so I didn’t get it. I called AHS and the rep said the contractor tried to call me and I told her it was not my number. So, it took a couple of days longer. AHS paid for the hot water heater and yet, the plumbers charged me extra for the pipes and extra stuff. They had to come anyway and put the hot water heater in, but yet they charged me labor for putting in the little pint of water run-over tank. That shouldn’t have been that much because they had to put the hot water heater in and use that same pipe so, they got one over on me. The plumber himself did good work but I didn’t like the overcharge. Overall, I enjoy that American Home Shield gets right on it when you call and I have recommended them.

I've been dealing with American Home Shield since 2003. I've had a lot of run-ins with them throughout the years and the customer service on some instances really sucked. Most of it had to do with our house being an older home that had an oil furnace and there are very few people that can deal with oil furnaces. Some of the contractors they’ve sent in the past have been horrible. They’ve not been qualified to deal with an oil furnace. And then, one time they sent somebody that said they replaced the part but they didn’t. Throughout the years, we went on many winters without a furnace in a very cold house due to the said issues with the contractors.

I recently had trouble with the heater through the winter and the guy that came said he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I still couldn’t get the furnace to work. I had to do it manually by changing the thermostat. I had to call a third time and they sent the same contractor to work on it and he said, “I can't find anything wrong with it. I don't know what it is." I stood there with this young man in front of the thermostat that I had to keep messing with to get the heat to come on and I said, “Listen, have you thought that maybe there's something wrong with the thermostat?” “Ah, well, I guess I'll change it out.” He changed the thermostat out and it's been working ever since. But since when does the customer have to tell the guy coming to fix something, me advising him in what he should do?

I was widowed two years ago and to be in this house by myself and have no heat and it's a good thing it didn’t go out when my husband was ill because I don't know what I would have done because he wasn’t well. So, I'm not happy with American Home Shield. And I'm glad I don’t have to deal with them as I have sold my home and I'm just waiting to close. I am moving into a senior housing apartment.

With my most recent claim, I had a plumbing leak in the crawlspace and so I called them. The plumber came within a couple of days which was nice and it worked out just fine. He was thorough and did a good job. So, there have been some good times with American Home Shield but they’ve been far out-shadowed by the personnel that they sent to respond. I have about a three inch stack of times I've had to call American Home Shield and then I have to call them back again and again and said, “Please don’t send the same person,” but they continue to send the same people who don’t seem to get the job done.

And then when I call to have somebody come to my house, I'd be on the phone for sometimes 45 minutes waiting for them to answer. The only way I got around that was by talking to a couple of realtors that I know and they said, “Well, here’s a person that you can call that bypasses that.” And that’s what I've been able to do for the last two years. I've been calling this other number that doesn’t go through the same 800 number that’s listed on the internet. So, I bypassed the system a little bit, but that didn’t give any more confidence in people coming to the house.

I wouldn’t recommend American Home Shield because the people that they contract with don’t seem to be the most qualified candidate. Although when I had an issue with something other than the oil furnace, the people that they sent seemed to be qualified. So I'm basing the whole system on me being stuck with the oil furnace, which has been the whole crack of the issue from the time we moved here in 2003. It's been the lack of qualified people to work on my oil furnace and also them being responsive to my need when I say, “I know there's a company that’s up the street. It may cost me more but I'm willing to pay more if you can send that qualified person,” and they would never do that.

My air conditioning quit and after the submission of the claim, which went quickly, American Home Shield got in contact with someone to come out and check it out. It took a couple of days, which would be normal, before a company came out. They checked it out and figured out what was wrong with it. The condenser and coil were both bad so then we wind up replacing it. We now have a completely new unit. It was my first experience with the home warranty and it went well. I would recommend American Home Shield.

We recently had an issue with our AC that was not cooling properly upstairs. I filed a claim to American Home Shield and they immediately responded with an email. They got somebody to come and repair it. The guy said I have to change a vent out and it was gonna cost me $4,000. I paid some money and got American Home Shield guys to come and take a look. I wanted to get a second opinion to make sure it’s all well and good. I dealt with somebody else to come and take a look who was actually a yearly service. They said everything was fine and that I didn't have to change anything. That guy was very experienced and he was able to say that that was typical during the summer here and once in a while, you have Freon changes. He did a good technical solution.

The only area that I have concerns with is whenever I have an appliance issue, they won’t give me the same appliance. And then I have to check with them why not and they seem to have this generic policy that they would just replace an appliance that doesn’t have the aesthetics right. Once, the refrigerator went bad and they would not give me the choices. I called their supervisor and told him that I have a custom home and that I couldn’t just pick any refrigerator and put it there. It was aesthetically not pretty. They were able to work with me for an equivalent one, which is matching my colors that I wanted. They are reasonable.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over 18 years and it has been very good for me. Nowadays, they've made submitting claims very convenient. Earlier, I had to give them a call. Now, they just send a text or email and it seems to be fine. And they have a contractor in 24 hours but if it is late, they will tell me. In some cases, they call within the same date to schedule. Otherwise, they will just send me a number that I call them. I have many friends who ask me and I recommend American Home Shield.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and my experience has been good. The contractor's service was very good. Unfortunately, my water company was working on our water system and they couldn’t take out the water pressure problem that I was having but the contractor was able to fix my water leak. They had to come back out for the water pressure issue and both servicemen that came out were very courteous and knowledgeable.
