There was a leak in our attic and it fell on the outside wall of our house. So, we submitted an online claim to American Home Shield. We said that we had a leaky pipe, and they sent out a plumber. then when he went and investigated it, it turned out it was the condenser line on our air conditioning unit. It was not connected properly and it was just leaking condensation into the wall. So, at that point, they arranged for an air conditioning person to come out and a day or two later, he came and fixed that pipe. The contractor was good and everything has been fine since the repair. I'm glad that they made it right as far as sending the air conditioning person out at no charge ‘cause that was what we were afraid of, that we were going to hit with two fees for having two contractors come out even though the first one didn’t really do any work. I'd recommend AHS.

We had some tiles that were buckling in our master bedroom shower. We wanted to confirm if there was a leak in one of the pipes or if it was just water freely going through the cracks in the ground making the drywall behind it wet. I submitted claims online through American Home Shield's website. When I did that, I got a text message saying that the plumbers would come out or try to schedule something within the next 24 hours. Thereafter, I got a call from SWAT Plumbing saying that they were really busy that week and that the earliest they could get in was a week later.

I told SWAT Plumbing I was working that day that they scheduled it and I could only be available in the afternoon. Still, they sent the plumber in the morning and I called them to say that I was still at work. I got a text that the plumber was on the way, but I was not home and I wouldn't be able to meet him. Also, I had some issues getting a hold of their reps on the phone. I guess they had a lot of people calling in so I was on the hold music for a long time. Even so, I sent them a few emails through their website hoping I could get a hold of someone to have that plumber be canceled and come through another day.

When I finally got a hold of someone, they canceled the plumber coming to the house and we rescheduled a couple of days later. The plumber was really good once he came out. Although he didn't see any leaks, he noticed that the drip pan of the shower was a bit loose. He thought that might have contributed to the water build-up behind the tiles but we're having another team of contractors come to take a look at it as well.

Our air conditioner service with American Home Shield was used a couple of times. That was through Cote's Mechanical and we are fans of them. They are good about timeliness and communication. They let us know when they would be able to come over to the house and what was going on. They did really well. So far, we've been pretty happy with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield is a good service to get. When our air conditioner went out, I put in a claim online and a contractor came out. They were friendly. Although it took them two visits with a one week time frame between, they fixed the unit. Our house was hot but after that, everything is fine.

I own a condo that I am renting out and the AC system was not cooling so I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Their website was simple and easy to use. I like their online system and their people have been very helpful. When the contractor came, there was a tenant at the condo and he fixed the AC right away. He explained to her what the problem was. He told her that he was going to send me an email explaining what he did, but he never did. It would have been nice though to receive that email. But in the end, my tenants were happy and the AC is working fine. I have had good experiences with the contractors that AHS chose. I would tell people asking to use American Home Shield.

We had a leak coming from our roof that was from the AC. So, my husband submitted a claim to American Home Shield online. We heard back from them within 24 hours. We got an email saying who it was assigned to and after that, we got a phone call. Then, they were going to book us in six days because they were really booked, but then they called back and were able to get us in within a day. The contractor was really thorough, did a kind of assessment and showed us a bunch of pictures of what was going on. He was able to fix the issue quickly. Since the repair, there has been no leaking. We have been grateful that we have American Home Shield. It saves us a bunch of money and it gives us a lot of peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong, we have a resource to call.

All of a sudden, water started coming out from the drain, my laminate floor, and my kitchen. It was dreadful. I looked online for American Home Shield's number and then I called. I prefer doing it online though as it's easier. My problem was discovered in the evening so I filed the claim that evening and AHS called back during the business day the next day. It was within 24 hours and it was quick.

Then, a contractor from Peacher Plumbing & Backflow Services came out. He didn’t mind going up in my attic and looking around. At first, we were thinking it was a leak in the slab but he was able to trace it down. It was the pipe that goes outside from the back of the toilet, and the vent pipe had shifted in my roof and had left a little hole, and it was raining down. But it was fixed and it seems to be working now. He stayed several hours to do that and he seemed knowledgeable. I’ve had AHS for a year or two, and that was the first time I’ve ever used it for my claim. The AHS warranty works very well for me and I am happy with it.

The home warranty with American Home Shield is the best service we've gotten. If you have some issues and it's not fixable, they replace the unit. This is the best part. If it’s fixable, they fix it. When I had an issue with the freezer and the dishwasher, they fixed it and it cost me only $100. It was a good deal. When the air conditioning unit got burned down, AHS replaced it. It took time but it was okay. They also charged me extra for something that they added and my wife wasn't happy about that but I said it was okay. But AHS charged me twice on one service call and I'm supposed to get a 100-dollar check back. I've never received that check though, and I've called twice. That aside, American Home Shield has good customer service. I filed a claim online and in 24 hours, we got a reply on whoever was gonna work on my service call and AHS solved the problem.

Our house is up on stilts, and we noticed that under the house, there was water leaking. It was about right where our water heater was so we figured that we had something wrong with the water heater. When we submitted the claim online to AHS, I got an email about when everything would be scheduled. I also got some text messages that was telling me when my appointment would be. When I got the confirmation, it said it would be on Tuesday. Then, I got another confirmation saying they changed the appointment to Thursday. It was followed by another change in appointment to Friday. Finally, I contacted the company and told them that I was going on a vacation and that nobody was gonna be here. In the end, it took over a week for them to get to me.

When the contractor came and looked at the water heater, he told me that the drain pan had leaked and got busted. So, we ended up getting a new water heater. It took a couple of days for the water heater to come in, and then, they came back and installed it. So far, the water heater is doing everything it needs to be. We've had great work from the contractor sent out by American Home Shield.

American Home Shield works with service contractors who have bad reputation in every aspect (work, customer service, professionalism etc..). The customer service at American Home Shield is bunch of folks who don't even understand English let alone speak in English. American Home Shield and their service contractors don't care about their customers and customer service is not their thing. I am really surprised that they even survive in this day and age of big emphasis on customer care. I would not recommend them to anyone.

On Monday July 30th called and advised water leak. Water turned off. AHS sent a plumber who wouldn't work on the problem (BUT offered to replumb the house for $5,000). Send another plumber who is willing to work on the problem and has been nothing but stalls and no follow-through from AHS since then. The plumber found the water heater to be faulty and also needed to be replaced. AHS added the water heater to initial order. According to the plumber, AHS asked for every nut, bolt, etc., (itemized to the basic detail) before approving the work. Said they would call back, etc.

Now it's Friday. No return call from AHS and we're out of water over the weekend. Called customer service over the weekend trying to get the work approved so we could get water to our home. Informed that nobody works on the weekend (authorization or finance) which makes no sense as these type calls are typically emergencies. Asked for Manager. Told would return call in 48 hours (coincidentally Monday or later). Said I would buy water heater so the plumber can get work done and we can get water to the house. Told if we did that warranty would not honor any work. Asked if they would pay for a hotel while house out of water. Was told NO. Here it is now Tuesday (8/7) and going on 8 days and still no water, no approval for the plumber to do the work, no water heater, and no phone calls from manager or anyone else. How many other people have experienced this?

I've had AHS for about 2 years. I have had nothing but problems and issues with them. The first issue I had was with a work order to fix my microwave and the contractor never showed. The next issue I had was with my AC unit. They sent out Total Air Care whom informed I was missing 3lbs of refrigerant and it would cost me $150 to fill. I informed if I’m missing refrigerant that means there is a leak somewhere. He informed they don't check for leaks when its only 3lbs and that he would put a sealant in the lines.

I asked what if that didn't work he said I could call back and I wouldn't have to pay another service fee. He failed to mention you only have 60 days for a recall before paying the service fee again. I then called back to AHS to let them know I was not happy. After my being on one line with them and my uncle on another (by the way the customer service was unacceptable as she was rude and attempted to inform I didn't have a leak). We also found out the 1st tech did not put notes in the system about the work. The next tech that came out confirmed there was a leak in the evap coil. He informed they would order the part and someone would come install.

After waiting some days I finally call and AHS informed I would have to talk with Total Air Care. I contacted Total Air Care and left messages and finally they returned my call and informed me I would have to pay $550 upfront and they may not use all of the money however I would get reimbursed the remainder. I inquired why would I need to pay that much upfront. They were charging for 10lbs of refrigerant as well as any modifications on the part. I inquired why? They informed that the refrigerant was contaminated. I inquired how when it’s a new system and that’s the only refrigerant that would have been in the lines. They couldn't answer the question. I then informed them that the first tech was not concerned with contamination and he was willing to add 3lbs of refrigerant so why now is it contaminated. Of course they had no answer.

I did some research on the company and they had horrible reviews. I then called AHS to inquire why would they do business with companies that have bad reviews and ratings. They informed they are a good company as they are at the top of their list. I decided not to go with them. AHS DID NOTHING. This was last year. The company who installed the system came out this year to confirm it was the evap coil. I did more research and come to find out there was a class action law suit against Lennox (the AC manufacturer) regarding the evap coil. I had the company who installed the system fix it. They also maintain the system. Yesterday I noticed the house wasn't cooling down and called them back out. Now I am being told it’s the condenser coil that is leaking.

I called AHS on 8-6-18 and inquired what other companies besides Total Air Care do they use so I can research them. They provided me with 4 companies but out of the 4 said only 2 are available. I researched those companies and they too have bad reviews. I called AHS back on 8-7-18 to inform the companies they provided have bad reviews and requested to be able to use the company who installed the system and for AHS to reimburse me what they would pay their contracted companies. They informed they couldn't do that.

I was on the phone with them for 1 hour and 32 min only to be hung up on. And 40 min was silence as the rep had me on mute. I called back to inquire with whom I last spoke with and at first the rep informed she didn’t know she can only see a user id#. I then requested to have a manager inform who the person was. She then comes back and says she doesn't have a first name for the person but provides a last name which is **. However what was odd is she referred to the last name as a female. I asked how did she know I spoke with a female and she then backtracked as if she didn't now. I then informed I wanted to cancel this service and she informed she had to complete a cancel form and then get me to the department that handles.

After she completed the form she then told me she would transfer me. I requested the number I was being transferred to and she informed she couldn’t provide. I then requested for her to stay on the line until the department came on the phone. She informed she could only stay on for 1 min and then she would get another call in. I then requested to speak with a manager. I'm on hold waiting for a manager and the next thing I know I am on the phone with a retention specialist by the name of ASIA.

So now I am requesting to make a formal complaint. She inquired what was going on. So once again I inform of all the issues I have had with AHS. She offered to send another company outside of Total Air Care and to waive the service fee. I informed her of the research that I did and the other companies they contract with have received bad reviews. So I inquired if she would use a company with bad reviews. She informed she has AHS and she trusts their judgement. I informed I don't trust their judgement due to my history with AHS.

I then inquired if I could use the company that installed the system and AHS reimburse and she said I can only utilize the companies they contract with. I informed why? She informed that was their policy and she doesn't create the policy. I then asked to make a formal complaint. She provided me with an email address. I asked for the physical address to corporate and she informed the company doesn't have a physical address and the email is the only way to make a formal complaint.

I then stated so the only option I have is to use the companies AHS provides even though they have bad reviews. She informed I would have to use their companies and if I am not satisfied after they do the work then I can call back, let them know and have another company come out. I inquired and if I don't like that company then the only recourse I have is to cancel the service and she informed she can put in a cancel request. I informed to send the company out and I then requested to have in writing that the service fee would be waived. She informed we are on a recorded line. I then inquired when would they be out and she informed I would hear from them and she didn't know the company that would come out. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AHS TO ANYONE! They have bad business practices and they also do business with other companies that have bad business practices.

The reason for this post is the complete utter frustration, helplessness, and disappointment I experienced while trying to get my Air Conditioner repaired by American Home Shield. I have been a customer of AHS for over 7 years, however recently they have made many changes for the worse, on 7-11-18 about 10:00AM I called in a service order for my AC. AHS assigned my request to K.&L. Mechanics, who came to my home on 7-13-18.

On 7-16-18 K&L notified AHS as to what parts were needed to complete my service. On 7-16-18 I spent over 2 hours on the phone trying to determine exactly what my insurance covered to insure everything would be in place when K&L received the parts they awaited. I have learned that my parts where not ordered until 7-18-18 with a due date of 7-25-18. I called to ask if delivery could be expedited or if the parts could be tracked by a tracking number. The answer was no with no satisfactory reason. Tracking numbers are an essential tool to enable products to be shipped and received on time without incident. 99% of companies today will provide a tracking number to monitor their products in route.

Needless to say on 7-25-18 the part did not arrive and it was soon discovered that AHS had made a mistake. They would have to review the process to see where the problem had occurred. I requested and was told that (manager - Candice) would call me back by 7-26-18. I did not receive a call from Manger-Candice until 8-6-18. In the meantime I found out after several hours of holding and fighting frustrating battles with AHS personnel that the second part was not ordered until 7-30-18 with a due date of 8-8-18. I am still without AC, The last 30 days have been the hottest of the year. My family is suffering. I have never experienced this level of un-professionalism and un-caring about customer satisfaction from any other company ever. AHS it is your move now.

My central AC is not working. AHS referred a contractor who never called me. I called them and they promised to call me back multiple times. Finally called me back days later and offered an appointment five days hence. I called AHS and they said they would refer me to another contractor and because it was so hot, I qualified for expedited service. A contractor was sent. He was harried and did not care. He did not have the correct tools to service the product and he left. Before he left he wanted me to know that the AC unit was of poor quality. Not helpful since it came with the house. I called AHS to request a new contractor. I was advised that I had to stay with the same contractor or pay again for the service call. In addition, apparently this week, I did not qualify for expedited service because the temperature in Los Angeles was only going to be 96 degrees and not over 105 (neither applied last week).

I find it utterly inhumane and unconscionable that AHS would expect customers to sit INSIDE in broken air conditioning when there is LITERALLY A HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR THE LOS ANGELES AREA!! Two customer services reps literally refused to transfer me to a manager, then one hung up on me and one transferred me back into the main menu. I am absolutely appalled at the way I have been treated here. Bad vendors, misinformation, and different stories. Not to mention a completely inhumane policy regarding heat advisory expediting which would seem to change from week to week. What is the point in having a home warranty? Shame on these people.

My air conditioning unit was leaking and the ceiling was sagging inside the bathroom above it. I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone and it was easy. The first company that they sent, Judd's Air Conditioning, came in June. They said that they fixed the drain valve from the air conditioning unit outside and that it wouldn't be leaking anymore.

Two weeks later, water was dripping out of the end of my air conditioning unit, so I had to call American Home Shield again to get that company to come back out. I also tried contacting Judd's Air Conditioning. They were saying that they couldn't come out for about three more weeks and that they've got a family emergency. But I think they knew the issue and they didn’t want to spend the time to address it. So, they said that they fixed it but they really didn't and just left. Also, when when I called American Home Shield on a weekend, I wasn't particularly happy with the customer service I was receiving. I'd asked to speak with a manager just to get some further clarification and the first person that was on the phone kicked me back into the receiving pool. I was dialed back into the call center and I ended up speaking with a second person.

Later, AHS sent out a second company, Strickland's Heating and Air, and they came out July 2nd. They took a look and told me that they could fix the issue. But after the service, I still had water leaking out of my air conditioning unit. This weekend, water had fallen through my ceiling and the ceiling in my bathroom fell through. So, Strickland's Heating and Air came back out and tried to explain that it was a roof leak that was draining into the ductwork, then into the ceiling. Then they left at that point without doing anything.

So, I called American Home Shield back on Tuesday and they said that they would send somebody else out. Total Air Care came out and I talked to their technician. He was able to clearly provide a reasonable explanation about what was leaking and what was causing the leak. He was also able to fix the problem to my satisfaction. He could tell that it was coming from the air conditioning unit and the air conditioning unit was not level, so he leveled it.

All in all, I was in three months on the same issue, had three different companies, had water damage in my ceiling, and my ceiling collapsed. Now, I got to get somebody to fix the dry wall and in the meantime, I'm having to pay the electric bill to lose air up into my attic because there's swelling outside of my bathroom into my attic. So, I was pretty dissatisfied with my experience and I would tell others not to expect much from American Home Shield.

The contractor from Total Air Care and I kind of bumped heads more or less, but I've dealt with him in the past, so he was okay. He fixed everything, and the unit has been working okay since then. He just needs to learn to be a little bit more professional. American Home Shield is doing okay, but they need to work a little bit faster, too. They had to order parts, which I understood, and it took a little bit too long, especially as hot as it had been, giving me a week period to get my unit back up and running. Nevertheless, I’ve already recommended it to a friend and I told them that AHS all did a good job.

I was expecting to struggle and just keep calling but they answered right away and they were available through the weekend which was very helpful. Their reps were always friendly too and the contractors that they sent were very knowledgeable. The contractors took care of the problem and acted quickly before more water came out of the water heater. They replaced the water heater right away and everything’s been fine since. I paid a little out-of-pocket for a piece of the whole installation that I wasn’t aware that of and it would have been better if I was more educated on what’s exactly covered or not. But still, I would recommend AHS.

We called American Home Shield up because we had some water stain. I wanted them to see if they can cover it. But when the company came over, they couldn’t do anything because the area was carpeted. Then there was another stain that formed in the ceiling. But because there was no bathroom upstairs, they couldn’t look at it and they said it wasn’t an active leak. So that stain is just continuing to get bigger. I had a different warranty company prior to this one and when something wasn’t repaired correctly the first time, they would honor and come back without charging me another deductible. With American Home Shield, there's another deductible every time I have something, even if it’s the same thing. Customer service is one of the areas that needs improvement. They really don’t have any customer intimacy and it feels like our problem is never important enough.

Last year, I had an issue with my heater. I had a routine cleaning and the cleaner found a cracked heat exchanger. I called AHS and they gave me the name of a company. However, the people didn’t call back for several days and when they did, they said they couldn’t get out until the next Wednesday which was nine days later. The temperature was in the 40s and 50s so I couldn’t have stayed in my house. I told AHS to refer me to somebody else but they said that once they’ve made the contract, they couldn’t do that. I asked if I could get somebody else and they said yes. They also told me that if I get somebody else, they would reimburse me. What they reimbursed me for a $7,000 heater was $580 and I was told that that was all they would pay. I was furious. You couldn’t even buy a furnace with that, let alone put it in. It would’ve been cheaper for me to go stay in a motel for nine days if I knew it was gonna be like that.

Recently, my disposal was completely plugged up, and it was a Friday so when Budget Rooter got the claim, they came on Monday. The contractor showed me that it was all stopped-up but just on the disposal side. Now, everything's fine. He was very professional. I put him in my database to call if I have a plumbing problem that isn’t draining.

I had an emergency with my AC. When the primary outlet of the AC gets chocked, the secondary outlet starts throwing out water out of the AC. I submitted the claim with AHS and their process was easy. Normally, I would put the request online and then I get a call from them and we set up an appointment. AHS then sent In Town HVAC Services to work on the problem.

We also had an issue with the washer/dryer and the technician came and without opening the machine, she said that the air docks needed to be cleaned. So we got them cleaned, but the clothes were still wet. Then we figured out that the person who came was not that interested in working on that issue and was very rude. I told AHS how the first company talked to us over the phone and their rep was really bad with the service. We requested AHS to send somebody else which they did and the technicians opened the machine and found out that the lint was getting stuck inside the filter when it was moved up and down. That was why the whole air was blocked and the clothes were not getting dry. We were so happy with the second company and we didn't have to pay for the second visit.

I also have a house in Chicago and that is on rent. We had an issue with the AC, so we told the renter that the guy will come to fix the AC. I had specifically told the guy that he needed to contact the renter's name, address, and their telephone number, but he didn’t contact them. Then, after two times asking them for an appointment, he came back saying that nobody responded, but I was regularly in contact with my renters. They told me that nobody tried to call them. Finally, after four times back and forth, we were able to set up an appointment, but that guy was really rude. Even my renter told me that when he came home for the service, he was really rude and didn’t service well. The service that was done was good, but the person who did the service was not friendly at all. Other than that, I am very happy with AHS. I've had them for about three years now and their service is excellent. I would recommend them.

American Home Shield's customer service is awful. We have had multiple contractors come out and they do what they can to fix the problems. However, AHS is horrible about billing. They’ve charged us multiple times for things that weren't fixed. They finally went back and fixed it, but there was no accountability. I had to call and let them know that they charged me twice. I also told them that they said that when contractors come out and fix something, their work is good for 50 days, but if it's not, they won't charge.

They have everything on auto, so every time someone comes out, they automatically charge me. There's no accountability of taking care of their customers with how they bill them out. I had to call multiple times and they said that they will take it off, they won't send it out, and they can give my credit back. If I didn’t follow up and if I just paid it, I would have overpaid it for multiple times that people came out. If I had no account on my finances, then I would have gotten another bill because they sent someone out again. If I didn’t know their policies inside and out and cared about it, they probably would charge me at least six times what they should have.

It's been a train wreck. As far as a home warranty company, they do everything they can to not take care of the customer. They're just trying to avoid coming out of pocket. They're basically trying to wait out the year that most people will pay for it and they just keep prolonging it or they tell the contractors, “Go fix it even if it's temporary. Just fix it or put a band-aid on it until their warranty runs out.” My AC hasn’t gotten fixed and I doubt it will ever get replaced. I just bought the first home in March and everything has been fine. The AC is not a terrible issue, but they have not done a very good job. I was very understanding with them the first three times it happened.

After the third time, clearly, whatever the contractors were doing, they were not fixing the problem. I did some reading online about what they did and everything I've read is just, “It's temporarily solved.” They're not really trying to find what's wrong. They're just trying to see how they can prolong it working for a bit. They're trying to do as little as possible to not have to replace our AC even though that was what we paid for for the year in case something like this happens, an accident or not even an accident, just unforeseen circumstances. We're supposed to be taken care of, but that has not been the case at all.

I would point my friends in the opposite direction or tell them to try someone else out. AHS' customer service is very unsympathetic. They couldn’t even get me to talk to a manager or someone else to let them know what's going on. They say, “Sorry. They're all busy on meetings or conference calls.” It's a complete runaround.

The latest claim I have submitted was for my garage door. I didn’t like the automated claims process because when I call in, I don’t get speak to a person which I like doing. If I have multi-issues with the same thing, I couldn’t tell them that. For instance, I had the same issue with two different faucets but I couldn’t tell them AHS. I told the person at the plumbing company but that message didn’t get relayed to the contractor.

It also caused an issue and American Home Shield wound up having to refund me $75 because I was overbilled. I got the refund this week but it took me forever and I had to contact them numerous times for it. And when I would ask to speak with a supervisor, they would say they were not gonna change their minds. Then I had to go through the sales rep for our area to get the refund.

One time when I called in regarding the refund, they finally agreed to me speaking with a supervisor. But they kept putting me on hold, saying the person was busy and then, I got disconnected after 45 minutes. They have my e-mail address and my cellphone number so they could have called me back. That was not a good experience. I also had one bad vendor. The first gentleman that came out to repair my air conditioning unit walked in and was excessively rude. He wasn’t even in my house for 10 minutes and he didn’t look at anything. He just said it was whatever, turned around and walked out the door. I've had American Home Shield in Kentucky before and the customer service down here in Florida is not as good. But I don’t want people to feel like American Home Shield is not a good company.

The AHS contractor scheduled the service within one day and then a tech came out. He checked the air conditioner and there was a simple block that he was able to fix in 10 minutes, and it cleared up the issue. Knowing that AHS is there is nice. We haven’t had to use it that much but it’s useful to have some kind of warranty on all of this stuff. And if someone asks me about getting a home warranty, I would give them AHS' name. I previously had an estimate done by another company who told me that I need a new evaporator coil. I also even had a second company look at the AC and it was gonna cost me $1,400 out of pocket. A friend told me about American Home Shield and I could save some money. It would cost $50 a month and it covers all the appliances, HVAC and plumbing, so I thought I could maybe get the AC fixed for less and fit into my budget.

However, I was very disappointed because the machine wasn’t working because of a leak at the evaporator coil, but the technician that came out said that it’s a small leak. He sealed it up with a Dap, added Freon and I paid for the Freon, but my air lasted only five days and then it was out again. I already bought two window units this summer just to have in the meantime. I’ve been living with those because it’s very hot here in Georgia. I called AHS for the company to come back out and they did, but the Big Red Planet was the company that didn’t give me anything in writing. Usually when somebody does some work they have to give an invoice that shows what they did so you can have a record. He didn’t do that, and I forgot to ask for something.

So the second time he came a few weeks later when I could get the appointment, he acted like he didn’t know anything I was talking about, and it was the same technician that came the first time. He just came and basically looked on the outside of the unit and said, “Well, it looks like the fan is working just fine and everything should be okay if add some more Freon." But I told him that Freon lasted for five days and then it was gone because of the leak. The coil that he told me about needs to be replaced. But he acted like I was just speaking on another language. He didn’t know what I was talking about.

I wasn't gonna pay him for a Freon again for it to just last for a few days. I asked him to leave because the service was a waste of my time and money. He told me, “Well, I’m just gonna add a little bit of Freon” and they’re not charging for it. American Home Shield took my billing information off of my account so that they couldn’t charge me, but that’s all that they’ve done. I haven’t received the refund because the work just wasn’t completed. I called AHS to cancel because I was very disappointed.

It also said that the contractor would call within the next 24 hours or I could call them. It's great.

I also filed the claim online when the dryer was giving an error code every time I tried to start it. A & J came out and the technician diagnosed the issue quickly. They didn’t really tell us what was going on though. They just got the parts ordered in a week and a half then they came right back out and the dryer was fixed. In total, it took about two and a half weeks. It was just two visits and it was done. It was easy. I have referred American Home Shield also. Appliances don’t last forever so the home warranty is for peace of mind for a homeowner. That is what clients pay for.

I've just had the worst customer experience with any company or service to date. I called Saturday to submit a service issue for a non-working air conditioner. The service agent took my payment over the phone and told me it would be 24 hours before the service was scheduled. I received a text from a provider saying they would contact me in 24 hours.

I did not receive anything and called American Home Shield. After being disconnected from their service line 3 times, I finally was able to speak to "Chet" who told me the service was transferred to another provider and it would be another 24 hours before anything was scheduled. I told him this needed to be escalated, as it is their mistake and he then changed his excuse. He then told me it would be another 24 hours because I called on a Saturday, which isn't a business day. When I didn't accept this excuse, and asked to speak with another representative, he hung up on me. It's now been 48 hours in 100-degree heat with no air conditioning.

I had AHS for a while and then gave them a call one day because our AC stopped cooling. They sent out a guy a couple days later and said it was going to cost me about $1,150 plus my $125 service fee for a repair. What good is this warranty company? I am paying them $40+ per month to basically just contact a crappy repair company for me when something breaks and I foot the entire repair bill!? What a joke! This company is horrible and highly unethical. I sat on hold for hours and hours all in all from dealing with this entire issue. They are a great marketing company that is really really good at deceiving and conning people into giving them their money each month and then they do not follow through on the promises of repairing or replacing your appliances when needed. Cannot wait until this company gets sued for all their money they have stolen from people.

American Home Shield has been an absolute nightmare for us. Our air conditioning has been out all summer. We’ve had 9 visits from an AHS contractor without resolution. They reluctantly provided a new service provider recently and for the past two weeks we have attempted to schedule with the new contractor unsuccessfully. They came out and provided a diagnosis that detailed everything that the first contractor said they fixed. Of course they are now telling us that we will have to pay several hundred dollars for the same services that were not successful. We have called every day for two weeks and have been told that they would contact us that same day with a diagnosis from the new contractor.

In 2 weeks, they have yet to respond and we have had to continue to pursue them. I have been on hold every time with an average hold time of close to a half hour... my last hold time was over 50 minutes before I finally gave up. We have spent 8 weeks in a home that will not cool below 83 degrees. We were originally customers of HSA warranty before they were purchased by American Home Shield. I’ve never had a customer experience this bad. Run don’t walk away from American Home Shield. Notice the hold time and the number in the image below.

The technician AHS sent said the first time that he didn’t have all the parts and we did not have refrigerator for about one month in the house. After that when he came with the parts he said it was going to take 48 hours to maybe a couple of days and we would be okay. However, sometimes the refrigerator gets too cold or is not cooling at all. Sometimes there was a burning smell and I was worried about my home. That happened within a whole week and I called them again, and then he came. Both refrigerators have no proper job done. He said he didn’t have the part and after a couple of days he would be back. It has almost been one and half week but I did not receive any response yet. My wife is fighting with them every day. I did not tell AHS what's going on because it’s not their fault. When I would call them to file my claims, they were very helpful.

Our air conditioner stopped cooling, so I called American Home Shield's 888 number and scheduled an appointment. The next day, the tech showed up on time and diagnosed the problem right away. It took him about 40 minutes to fix it and then he was on his way. Since we've had American Home Shield, 95% of our transactions with them have been very good. Once in a while, we run into somebody having a bad day, and I just discount that because not everybody's in a good mood everyday but overall, I'm real happy.

He did the specific job that was required. Something was stuck in the boiler and it stopped working well, that was why it started leaking water. The guy adjusted the little thing and after that, everything started working well. American Home Shield is a very professional company and I'm gonna keep having service through them.

I got my house two months ago and have had American Home Shield. When I had an appliance issue where my washing machine holed my clothes and my dryer wasn’t heating up, I submitted claims for both at once and that part went really well. They sent Sears out but Sears was not helpful. When I called American Home Shield and told them that Sears was not useful, they sent a more specialized contractor at no extra charge. AHS went to a smaller private company and I was happy with it. The second contractor knew what he was doing and he looked at stuff. He is coming in a couple of days to install the parts that have to be put in.

I was very impressed with the web design of the AHS website. The website was also easy to use when I filed a claim online regarding the air conditioning. My family gave me the advice that I should just call the contractor so as soon as I put in the claim, I called them and they had it immediately. The communication with the contractor was very easy. The technician was very good and amazing too. He talked to me like I was a person who understands what was going on and told me everything I needed to know. The final problem turned out to be that it was low on Freon but it took a while for them to diagnose that. Other than that, the performance of the air conditioning is okay. It’s a little slow but c’est la vie.

It’s really hot here in Mississippi in the summer and then our air conditioning has stopped cooling. I woke up during the night and it was hot. I called American Home Shield first thing that morning to report it and get somebody out. The first lady called back and apologized that they couldn’t get anybody out very quickly. Then I asked if there was any way they could expedite it because we were under a heat advisory that day. After she talked to her supervisor, she told me that they could try to expedite it. Shortly after that, I got a phone call and they had just faxed somebody to come out. They were very understanding and they took care of it.

The AC had some part that needed to be replaced. But by noon, the contractors had the air conditioner working again and I was really pleased with how it went. That same week, I thought about canceling my home warranty because the premium went up a couple of dollars a month, and I didn't realize that it was gonna increase. I called and talked to a lady and she explained why. I was still on the fence about it. But I'm glad I didn't cancel it 'cause literally just a few days later our air conditioner broke.

I've used American Home Shield many times over the last four years and pretty much all of the experiences were positive other than this one. Earlier this year, the heater broke and when the contractor came out, they determined they couldn't fix it. So American Home Shield ordered a brand new heater, which was great. But then when the contractor came out, they didn’t install it properly on the wall. Then they said there was nothing else they could do. I called American Home Shield and they said it was pretty much between myself and the contractor. They called the contractor but legally, there was nothing they could force the contractor to do. The contractor had said that they tried to install, that they couldn’t install it properly and that was it. So that never got resolved.

But overall, I'm happy with American Home Shield. When the dishwasher malfunctioned, I filed a claim online. The contractor took about 24 hours to contact me then they canceled on me twice. But they finally came out two weeks later. They did an assessment and then they had to order parts. Then they came back another week and a half later. Before the repair, the dishwasher wasn’t even washing. It was totally broken. But now, everything is working except for the heat dry and I called yesterday to have them come back out and fix that.

We have two ACs and the one that covers the upstairs stopped working. We recently bought this house and it just seemed like one-by-one, everything that's in the house was breaking. I can now see why the person that was selling the house wanted us to have AHS on there because it’s definitely needed. I usually submit my claims online and they’re fast. In the same day, you get an automatic response and then about 30 minutes later, another response stating who will be reaching out to you. The tech that came looked around the unit and he found some serious issues up in the attic. He explained to my husband how to maintain the unit.

Recently the microwave blew up. We called AHS and they assigned someone, and I received a text message asking me if I was gonna be in yesterday. I called back and told them that my husband was gonna be there, but he works nights. They gave a timeslot between 10:00 and 1:00 so my husband stayed up all day and they didn’t turn up. When I called them, they tried to say that the arrangement was for today, which I said, “No. We have text messages here that tell me otherwise.” It was a he-said-she-said and I told them to just send me the $75 back and I’ll buy a new microwave. It wasn’t American Home Shield; it was the people that they used and after I looked at that company, their reviews are absolutely awful. Everyone had the same problem as I did on these reviews that I saw so I told AHS not to send them to us again. AHS needs to keep track of their vendors. Other than that, I have recommended them to people.

However, there was some lack of communication with AHS because when the first company wasn’t able to come out and another company came, AHS didn’t take it off the records coming five days later. There was a mix-up on their part and a payment comes in my email.

I kept getting billed for something I paid for and they kept coming up on my email. I even got a letter in the mail. I had all of the copy of proofs with my Visa card and a bank note where the Visa had taken out the money out of the bank. I had to do a lot of work to prove that I paid for something. Also, I had to call and say that I didn’t owe for two companies coming out because they sent one out for my emergency and then the other one should have been canceled. I found AHS to be very deficient and their communication system should be better. On the other hand, the contractors that they sent out have all been excellent. I filed these claims online and it was very easy. The technicians that came out were very professional. It slipped my mind and when I called back about it, the lady told me that my time had expired and I had to call in a new claim. I wasn’t very pleased about it but I filed the new claim. Then, a different company came out and they had to order some part. A few weeks went by and I called Home Shield back to let them know that no one has returned and I haven't heard anything.

Thereafter, the AHS rep contacted the company and the gentleman from the company called me and informed me that they were waiting on four parts. Three of the parts came in and they were waiting on the fourth, but they needed permission from American Home Shield to get it elsewhere to get the matter taken care of. They were given the permission to do it and they showed up two days later and repaired the ice dispenser. However, I just wasn’t pleased with the timely manner that the repair was done considering I called in January and it wasn’t repaired until May. It was the fault of the contractor and I did not double check to find out what was the status on my claim. That aside, I was pleased with American Home Shield once the service was taken care of. I have a built-in microwave, and there's a lot of electronics in the door and the controls and the door wouldn't stay shut. So, I had to get somebody who knew what they were doing to come out here and fix it.

It took a while to get somebody here. We lined up somebody, and the day before they were supposed to get here, the rep called in. Her service man who works on Samsung has fallen, was in the emergency room, and couldn't come for another week. But, they found me somebody else who came right out, so that was good. Everything has been working great since then. I've had American Home Shield for a long time, and I've referred a lot of people to them. The first time they came out, the guy didn't have the right part. That was on a Tuesday, so the next time he would be back, if he got the part, would be on Thursday. But we didn't get the part and it was two weeks later. If it had been my furnace that they were servicing and it was in the middle of the winter, that meant they would have to order it and, if I was lucky, the next Thursday, I might be on their schedule. The HVAC guy came and if the compressor was bad in the air conditioner unit on Saturday, he should have known that when he looked at it on Friday. He said he needed to give me freon and put in $600 worth. I paid him and he left.

On Saturday afternoon, we were hot again. They came back on Tuesday and said it was the compressor. When the guy left, he disconnected the element that lets you know when your pan is overflowing, and the water came straight through the ceiling in my bedroom. The unit was at the top in the attic so the water was draining down. I called AHS and told them that their person tampered with my air unit and now, I have water coming through my ceiling. They told me that they don’t handle that and it was between me and the contractor. I would need to call and have them come back and fix my ceiling. I told them that it was their contractor and they told me that they don’t cover that.

American Home Shield lied and said that they would have that person come back and make the repair and the person did not. American Home Shield lied and said that they would find the part that needed to be purchased to fix the unit. They claimed they couldn’t find the part. So, from the end of May and the whole month of June till the first week of July, I was without air conditioning because of American Home Shield. I went and googled the part and it was there to be purchased. American Home Shield just didn’t do it so, I ended up going with an outside contractor and telling American Home Shield to cash me out for the part. They gave me a lousy $500.

I ended up buying a whole new unit. As AHS would say, “If we can’t repair, we will replace.” They didn’t repair it nor did they replace it and they made me wait an inordinate amount of time lying to me. When I found the part and called them up, I I told them I was looking at the part and asked them what the problem was. They told me that they had 30 days to get it done. I told them that I’m a senior citizen with hypertension and I’m supposed to be in the heat until they figure when they would be ready to service me. I also had a guy to come to check on my hot water heater and he claimed that the element was bad. I was out of town after he left and he left my water running for three days. I didn’t even notice until I came back and there was water all over my driveway. My yard was a swimming pool.

My experiences with AHS were all terrible. They just do enough and there is no quality control person that comes behind these various contractors that they hire randomly throughout the country. Nobody goes behind that contractor to see if the work was done properly or if it was done at all. AHS is a lousy company and I would never recommend them to anybody. I’ve told everybody I know never to purchase home warranty through American Home Shield.

I had a plumbing issue in the basement. There was a blockage in the pipe going from the washing machine to the outside. I sent in a claim online with American Home Shield and the technician was amazing. He got it all fixed up and it was really quick. My only complaint with American Home Shield is that I'm not happy sometimes with how long it takes for a contractor to get in touch with you and come out. Usually, it's almost 24 to 48 hours before you hear anything from most vendors.

This has been a CONSISTENT problem. It does not matter the day or time you call to request service for a shorter wait time. I have been a customer for several years now and will never use them again. They are Johnny on the spot when you want to purchase a plan but don’t count on that level of service to continue. Finishing this review I have now been on hold for 30 min.

This has been one of the worst experiences of my life, which is why I am compelled to write this review. I have been waiting for 13 days, in the middle of the Arizona summer for AHS to fix my main AC unit. Their customer service has been horrendous and there has been absolutely NO urgency in them getting the AC fixed, despite the EXTREME heat/heat index in AZ! I had to send a pet out of our home due to the heat. My kids and I have been living in 3 bedrooms for almost two weeks now. The other fact is that AHS supposedly repaired this same unit 2 months ago! My electric bills have been OUTRAGEOUSLY high even since then, which leads me to believe that they never even fixed the problem (for which they charged me $700 in Freon costs) and perhaps even caused the current problem!

The unit probably needs to be replaced, but I'm sure they will do anything possible to avoid paying for a new unit. So here we wait, in the extreme heat. The part (compressor) was due to arrive yesterday but the company that AHS hired said that they don't work on the weekends!!! When I asked AHS to find another company to install it this weekend they told me that was not possible unless I started the ENTIRE process over again!!! This has been a MISERABLE experience and I will never renew with AHS and I advise others to also not sign up with them!!!

My experience with AHS isn't very good, I've been with this company for 3 years. Water heater went out. They sent plumber who said we needed a thermal coupler and burner and we would have to order parts ourselves because GE heater was under warranty. We were upset that we had to order parts that we knew nothing about. We got run around from GE for a couple of days and they finally sent parts. Now we've been without hot water for 4 days, plus my 85 year old mother stays with me. This was terrible to go through. When parts arrived and sent plumber back, he installed parts. All was fine for two weeks then the unthinkable happened, as I'm writing this review I have no hot water again. I'm through with AHS, they should have replaced water heater like we asked to the first time we called them. Hopefully they will replace it but if they don't I've wasted 3 years of money on this company.

I have had AHS since 2011. Overall I like the company. However my air conditioner unit has a leak they can't seem to repair. Freon is expensive and I buy it every year. I pay someone else because AHS is high. Well this year I called and they said it would take about 4 days for Greenway to call to set appt. It's hot in July so my brother got someone to add Freon cheap. Greenway called a day early. I told them it was done and it's ok. Going into MONTH'S end my acct was overdrawn at bank. I went in to see why because I had 2 bills left to clear. AHS used my acct for automatic monthly payments.

They used it to withdraw $100 for a service fee. Greenway canceled the call. AHS never CHECKED with me on a follow up. I ALWAYS wrote checks for service calls. They no right to use my bank acct. I was upset. When I called they said they would send a check in the mail and it could take up to 15 days. I explained that my account was overdrawn and I would be charged $35 for both Netflix and service charge. They said there wasn't anything they could do. They took $100 on July 23rd. I haven't heard from them yet about the check.

I have had the worst experience with American Home Shield as a new customer. My issue is still not fixed. I have called AHS on 18th July to ask them to set up a service request for getting my zoning system fixed. They set up the appointment with one of the worst vendors Cool factory. They came to my house, looked at the system and waited almost 1 week to submit their diagnosis. After submitting AHS customer service didn't even give me full information on what is happening and I waiting another 2-3 days and I called and they said that cool factory can't fix it and they transferred my work order to someone else (This was the worst wait in my life, I waited on the call for 2 hours and 21 minutes listening to worst hold music ever). Don't think I have ever waiting that long to get to talk to a supervisor and get the thing resolved.

Even after that the supervisor who I am not naming is like I have to pay a transfer fees for this work order. I was like this guy who came to my house didn't even come and fix the thing why should I pay for it. He made me wait some more time after and then he gave me some excuse. After that they set my appointment with someone else who came to my house and sent the diagnosis after like another 3-4 days. Then they didn't even call me to let me know what is happening. I had to call again and again (called almost like 20 times to get my issue fixed, which is not yet fixed). I called again to speak to someone and that person just put me on hold for 30 min and cut the phone as it was their closing time.

AHS DON'T CARE FOR CUSTOMERS AND THEIR TIME. THEY JUST CARE FOR THEIR POCKETS BEING FULL WITH ALL CUSTOMER MONEY. The customer service just puts everyone on hold thinking that the customer will just cancel the phone and call again. AHS doesn't care for a customer. I regret switching my warranty now, but I will surely cancel AHS soon as they suck. Their customer service is the worst I have ever seen and they don't do things on time. THIS COMPANY DOESN'T DESERVE THE MONEY I AM PAYING TO HAVE THE SERVICE.

The pool guy that comes has been the same one that's been coming out, and he's pretty quick. Recently the pool pump was working one minute and then all of a sudden, it stopped. Initially the repair was fine, but then a little leak developed and we contacted within 30 days, and the pool guy came back out, fixed it and we're all good again.

I’m a realtor and we sell the policies of American Home Shield in the office. I gotta believe in the company since I push their product and I’ve been with them for four years. I’ve had good people before with American Home Shield but in my latest claim for my AC, they sent A-Advanced Home Services and I didn’t like the two guys. They were the same guys who were out at my house for a service call for my boiler back in winter and they did such a lousy job that I had to pay an independent to come in and repair their job. I told Donna, the rep, that I wanted them taken off my customer service list. When I had a heat pump problem and the same two guys showed up, I was a little bit upset and they asked me what was wrong. I told them what I thought was wrong and they believed me but they replaced the part. They didn’t check the rest of the system and the senior person was not fun to be around. He belittled the other guy throughout the service.

The senior level of the two-person team was horrible. He was the one who did the lousy job. They put my boiler in a position where I could’ve blown up if I hadn’t called the guy that did the installation. They should be taken off the list of AHS because they have a lot at risk and they don’t want guys who can’t do the job out there. I have two heat pumps and a boiler, I have the dual heating and cooling system at my house and if I needed a major repair and these guys showed up, I wouldn’t let them work in my house. The level of expertise is questionable and I don’t think either one of them has a license. In the winter repair, they had to call back to the office to find the how to do things. AHS would not want those people representing them.

The AC at my rental home has been leaking from the attic. It is an issue that started out in 2016. The contractors sent by American Home Shield came and cleared it out. Then, they came back recently and cleared it again. Now the tenant just called and told me that he is having the same issue. The water is now pouring out from my ceiling and I had the ceiling fixed last week when they left thinking that the problem was solved.

I called American Home Shield last night to reschedule another visit from the same company to come by and try to rectify the issue. This has been an ongoing problem and it would be the third time once the company comes out this time. But the company has not called me yet to give me the new schedule. I don't know if something needs to be changed out or replaced.

It has cost me $200 to get the ceiling replaced over the weekend and now, I'm right back to square one where I'm gonna have to do the same job again because the initial problem was not taken care of. I don't know how we could come to some kind of compromise where I could get some financial help for what I've been having to put out with this issue. I need for the company to either recommend some kind of change or whatever needs to be done. I just would like it to be done.

Nonetheless, I've been with American Home Shield for many years on the rental property and before I got the issue with the AC again, I just generated a contract with AHS for the current retirement home I’m living in. I matched the same coverage that I have with my rental and it’s gonna be implemented in September 2nd. I have also recommended American Home Shield to so many of my colleagues that I work with. Whenever I submit a claim, I do it over the phone and the process is usually very straightforward. I call them and once they come on the line, they verify my contract and property information and I tell them what the issue is. They then tell me who the company will be, the number and that the company will contact me within 24 to 48 hours.

We didn't have a refrigerator for a while because it was cheaper to wait it out. It was hard to find anybody to even fix the fridge because it has this crumbs and the repair man doesn't know what to do on their part. The contractor was pretty clear about what was going on and professional. They confirmed what the issue was, which we already knew, and then had to get the part and get it on the fridge. For the price, American Home Shield covered a lot. If something else breaks, I can call them for anything. It was a lot easier than doing everything directly with the appliance companies. Also, I like that you can cancel. You're not in a contract. AHS is the best value for what you pay. They do what they say they will.

The guy tried to explain to me what he was doing and what was going on. They thought they fixed it, but he didn’t know that the part was bad. Once he put it in and left, we thought everything was fine. When we found out that the part was bad, the other guy came back the next day to replace it, and they fixed it. So far it has been okay.

It was a pretty good experience, but since I had to have them come back, they wanted me to pay another copay. I told them, however, “This is the same problem. He’s just coming back.” So after we get that straightened out, I did not have a problem. Overall, I would recommend them to a friend and tell them that if you have a problem, you explain it to them, they explain it to you, and you get a good understanding as to what is going on. Speaking to an AHS rep is pretty straightforward, but there have been some things that I’ve called about that they don't cover. My air conditioning repairs have been back and forth, and I feel like I have to use somebody good. I had a lot of AC problems back last year and a year before last. I had to replace two compressors outside and American Home Shield didn’t give me that much choice replacing the compressors, which I’m a little disappointed with. I figured they’re covering the compressors and willing to fix them and then they said the compressors couldn't be fixed. If they were to go over them, it would be $600 towards a 5-6,000 unit.

The tech that came over was very professional and did his job, though it took him a while to figure it out. It was an electrical type short that was in the thermostat and I had two compressors down because of that same problem. I’m disappointed as these two units that went down are less than a year old. I should’ve called the manufacturer over ‘cause the units are under warranty, but instead, I called American Home Shield. Other than that, everything was fine.

The first time that I’ve had to use the warranty, it was for my air conditioner and I submitted my claim online. My interaction with the contractor, Artech, went well. But the claims process was a little slow due to going through AHS and then going through the contractor instead of calling a service company directly. I was without an AC for five days at a time when the temperature was 95 to 100 degrees in my house, so that made me gripey. But the contractor got my AC repaired and it's wonderful now that they’ve been out. I’ve already recommended AHS to most of the people that I work with and to my friends, and I've told them to look up and see what the coverage options are. They said that there would be a company contacting us within 24 hours. Then the next morning the company called us to schedule a time to come out. The contractors looked over the unit and they said the compressor has failed. They couldn’t repair it and that I needed to have a new unit. Or if they were going to repair the old one, then we would have to wait for the parts to come in. I would pay almost the same difference either way because the repair of the old unit required the more expensive outdated freon to be used. AHS pays about 10% of the cost which was $10 a pound when it cost around $100 a pound.

The contractors said that if I opted for a new air conditioning unit, they could have it out here the next day. It was more expensive to have a new unit installed but that meant I was getting the updated freon. I chose that option and had the whole unit replaced. It was the Fourth of July week and I called on Monday. They called us on Tuesday and set an appointment for Thursday and they installed the new unit on Friday. The AC was running within a few hours of them getting it done. They did a good job and I was satisfied. It was also over the weekend and it took a couple of days to get the technician out. But it took him about two minutes to figure out the issue. The first thing he did was check the filter and it had popped loose a bit. So when I would get water from the refrigerator, it would start out fine but then it would start making this god-awful sound and the water would stop.

Originally, the compressor of the air conditioner quit working. The contractor came out on Tuesday and found a short wire. Then, it went out again and I heard it pop. The guy came out on Thursday and said it had an internal short in the compressor, but it only shorted out every now and then. But since then, I haven’t had any air conditioning for three weeks. The contractor said I needed a new air conditioner, but American Home Shield would only pay to have the compressor replaced on a 15-year old unit that uses a Freon that’s gonna be against the law in a year or two. It's silly to be replacing just the compressor. They are putting a band-aid on an open wound.

I’m getting a runaround because I kept calling them and they said the parts weren’t ordered. And then, a real estate agent gave my wife the number of the area rep. AHS then said it was on hold because they were gonna give me the buyback option. I told them that I've been waiting for 10 days but nobody ever called me on that. Now, they're telling me the part won't come until next Thursday.

Going on three weeks, I still have no air conditioning in the middle of the summer. I got breathing problems since I had a lung removed from cancer a couple of years ago and I’m on disability. In the meantime, I borrowed a couple of window units. Although we renewed the contract with AHS for a year, I’d be replacing that air conditioner on my own after this is all said and done because I can’t deal with it anymore. I have a buddy that owns his own heating and cooling business. He told me they have the part on their shelves. Overall, I’m very upset with our situation and I would not recommend them to anybody.

But I said to make sure that they put the coverage they needed and they want because that is the problem that a lot of people is having. They think they have certain items on their contract and they didn’t put it on there when they got the contract.

We filed claims for our microwave and for our refrigerator during the same week and everybody was great. The contractors called ahead, showed up on time and did what they were supposed to do. We have upper and lower ice makers on the refrigerator and the upper unit freezes up. So we wanted the technician to address that and the issue was resolved on the spot. For the microwave issue, a part has been ordered and it would be coming in on October 1st. The contractor will then come back and stick the part in. It's a real small part which costs about $10 but we don't wanna continue using the microwave unless it was deemed to be safe. American Home Shield also sent out Total Air Care for our air conditioning unit before. They did great even though we had had the unit serviced ourselves within the last couple of months. It wasn't getting cold enough but they added a little bit of Freon and we were good to go.

On our first year with American Home Shield, the coverage was just on the whole house. Our first claim was a small air conditioning visit and it was great. Then we upgraded to the appliance coverage and that's what the refrigerator and the microwave are covered under. So we're very happy. I've also recommended American Home Shield to my daughter who bought a new house.

It took a long time to get somebody to come out when my water heater got broken. But it was kind of an emergency because water was possibly seeping through one of the walls. So I had to press them to get the plumber to come out right away. But they were giving me an argument about it. Then once the plumber came, they wanted to charge me for extra piping instead of using what was existing. The water heater that was installed had gone bad. But it was part of remodel and so it was permitted. I had copper pipes and they wanted to charge me $175 for removing the copper pipes and putting in PVC. It was shady and I put my foot down. It took several days before I could get the water heater installed and I was without hot water. So I was not happy with that service provider.

I’m not really thrilled with American Home Shield because of that really frustrating claim. But this most recent claim with my ceiling fan worked out very well because of their provider. It was easy submitting the claim and when I placed the service call, I already told people exactly what the ceiling fan was. So when the electrician came in, the guy knew the fan and the parts I was gonna need. He was really excellent. They had to order a part and I was expecting to have to wait and wait but Sunbelt Electric was great. The fan was repaired within 10 days and anytime I called Sunbelt, they were amazing.

I pay American Home Shield $40 a month and they charge $100 for a service provider to come on site. So I’m not going to use them if I think I can get something fixed for less than a hundred bucks. But it’s good to know I have my air conditioning and my plumbing covered by them. The warranty is a little bit expensive but when you’re not a handyman yourself, getting a warranty is something that needs to be done.

I let AHS know that the company never called me within the 24 hours that they were supposed to. I canceled the request on the fifth day because we needed it to be done within three days since it was hot and they refunded the $75 that I paid. But the other times we've had claims, like the furnace and washer, were perfect and awesome. Their customer service was really good and the reps were helpful. My dryer was making a large clunking sound and it was very loud. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, which I did online. It was fast and great for the first time. The website was fine as well. The next day, the tech came out. He was very professional, on time and took care of the problem. However, I had to order one part because the issue was more complicated than what we all thought. And instead of just one part which he had, it ended up being two separate parts. I had him back out a week later for the second part. After the initial repair, I thought I had a problem with the dryer again and AHS sent another person out. But then, the dryer was working fine. So it was one of those, "Oh yeah it's making that noise." And when they got here, it didn't make that noise.

I like how quickly the problem was taken care of. When I thought I was gonna have someone out here again to re-fix it, the original technician who fixed it was telling me it was gonna be another week just to get someone out here. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out here the next day so I very much appreciated that.

They told me what my cost would be and I had to pay $100 for them to come out and look at it and make a determination as to what was needed. The contractors were very pleasant and told us what to expect. As soon as we got approval, they were gonna turn some paperwork in to American Home Shield and after that, it would take a while for them to order the part.

However, they told my husband that they were representing American Home Shield and they told us what was wrong. They also told us what the cost would be, then they told us that they can sell us another unit. I didn’t like that and it was not why they were here. The young man who did the service call explained everything to me where I could understand it. I used to be with another warranty company for 18 years and when I had to replace an air conditioning unit, they were gonna charge me $5,200. I was then transitioning to American Home Shield and I was able to get the same equipment for $3,700. So, I kicked my previous provider to the curb. Also, I knew that American Home Shield has been in business for a long, long time and their monthly premium was a third of what I was paying. So I elected to pay a $100 service call, and it’s been well worth it.

I submit my claims over the phone and customer service has been great. I’ve called them on a weekend and they were very available. I could tell it was a call center, but they were very well trained. They asked the right questions and whatever it was they did, they transmitted the information. Within 24 hours I got somebody on the phone or text messaging me for an appointment. The whole process is very, very good. Every now and then there’s a complaint but overall I’ve had an excellent experience with American Home Shield. They’re a good company and they strive hard. Their customer service is excellent, very responsive and they seem to really pick good vendors. I’m a business person and I’m still working at the age of 69. After one month of waiting and 8+ hours of phone calls with AHS customer service and managers, we still haven't gotten our electrical issues fixed. We will let the warranty expire next year. AHS sent out a creep of an electrician who was rude to my wife and endangered our cat by leaving the door open. Then he didn't finish the job, leaving our wiring disconnected for weeks. When we complained, AHS said their policy is to continue to send the same service provider unless the customer provides legal documentation about the problem. That's right ladies: AHS will continue to send the same creep to your house unless you get a restraining order.

It took a 4-hour phone call to convince them to send a second electrician. The second electrician's secretary then lied about when they'd send someone. Every time we call AHS, they have no record of the previous call. For example, when they said, "We'll waive the fee for the first electrician," it still showed up on a bill a week later.

We have a septic system and bought the septic system extra piece with our contract. We were told by their plumber that the septic system was full and that was probably our problem. So I contacted American Home Shield and told them their plumber stated that we needed to have the septic pumped. Stated we that we paid for the septic coverage and we could have one pump a service contract so I was requesting that and that I currently cannot even use a toilet or shower, I expressed that to them. They said that they would have someone out the next day. They arrived and they do not do septic systems they were just there to assess the situation. WHAT???

So I called back quite a bit unhappy asked to speak with a manager or supervisor and the call center agent would not patch me through so she got an ear full and was the most unhelpful person ever. She had no idea how to calm an upset person who can't use a toilet. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AMERICAN HOME SHIELD TO ANYONE. Use anyone but them. We have spent the $595 for the contract $150 for two service calls and NOTHING HAS EVEN COME CLOSE TO BEING RESOLVED OR EVEN ANY DIRECTION GIVEN. We are at the bottom of everyone's list because we are through a home warranty. So it's 100 degrees tonight, hotter in the house, and we won't hear from the AC people until tomorrow and it will be Tuesday before they can come out. They ALL will ALWAYS take care of their full-paying clients before ever booking to come out to a home warranty client. We spent $358 of our own money last time to fix the AC as it was cheaper than four nights in a hotel and boarding our pets. Probably the same tonight. When you call you are always on hold a very long time, and literally EVERY time we have called, we get disconnected after holding, sometimes twice.

And then when they found the right contractor, he came and he didn't have the part. The contractor ordered the part and it was the wrong one and it took more than two weeks to get it fixed. They billed me, but they were trying to bill me again for it because they didn't pay the right contractor. On the other hand, when I had a plumbing claim before that, it was a very good experience. The guy came and fixed it right away. He had the part with him.

When filing a claim with AHS over the phone, there are times that the line gets disconnected but when you do something electronically, it's not very effective. You can't even tell them what part you need. And even if you speak to someone, they don't take that information down, which is frustrating. It’s also very expensive. I pay them $60 a month and then $75 for the call and if you don't make any calls, you're paying a lot of money.

Water was blowing out of one of our vents since we bought the house about a month ago and it ruined our ceiling. The company that was supposed to service it who’s already been out to fix it twice told me that they can’t get to it and that they’re going on vacation. That’s not professional. This issue continues to occur and the techs haven’t been able to fix it. It's ridiculous. I’m afraid as I get home tonight that I’m gonna find the vent lying on the floor because it’s weeping so bad.

Yesterday, American Home Shield lined up another company who said that they’d be here between 4:00 and 8:00 but they never called last night. I called and finally got somebody at AHS and they didn’t really care too much. I had to be proactive and look up the contractor, which is based in Florida and we live in South Carolina so that didn’t make any sense. I left them messages and they said that they forgot about it yesterday, so now we’re waiting until Sunday afternoon. The air has been cut off upstairs because I’m afraid that the ceiling is gonna collapse. The heat index is 105 degrees down here in Charleston, so it is blistering hot upstairs where my kids sleep. They have to sleep downstairs.

We are paying good money for getting the service that we need and I feel that we haven’t received that. AHS is basically leaving it in our hands. They also told us that the secondary damage that occurred to my house was not their fault and that they can’t help with it. The ceiling that is now water stained is all on me to fix which just seems weird. We also had a toilet that broke upstairs and flooded the downstairs and we called and had a plumber come out. He did a great job but he said that the problem that caused it was not normal wear and that I had to come out of pocket to pay for it.

The upfront guidance that is given to us by American Home Shield doesn’t seem to follow through any time there is some sort of claim. They always say that it’s not covered, so it’s a bit deceptive. AHS is still a good program though. We’ve had other issues that have been resolved. I call in my claims and I've used their online app as well. When I need to get an answer, I usually call but online is a lot quicker and easier and I usually get an email after.

I did two claims with American Home Shield for an air conditioner problem, and the first air conditioner guy was horrible while the second one was great. In the last one, we came home from vacation and my house was 92 degrees. I submitted a claim online and the company that they were gonna send out was the same company we had before that was horrible. Our craziest experience with the contractor company was after they contacted us two days later, it still took a couple of days for them to come out. Then they were really late and didn’t even fix the problem the first time. This time, AHS said it would be 48 hours but the contractor company never contacted us. So I contacted AHS and asked if there was someone else they could send out ‘cause I've got kids and a dog and we couldn’t stay in a 92-degree house for that long. They sent out another company called D&G, which was awesome. They came out that night and fixed the problem.

I submit claims online which seemed really easier ‘cause I don’t have to be on hold and wait for somebody. It doesn’t matter if it's 10 o’clock at night when submitting online because I can still do that. Whenever I called for customer service, it was always, “Experiencing longer hold time than normal.” Sometimes whenever I called to get a different air conditioner company out, it actually said, “If you'd like, leave your number and then we'll contact you when it's your turn in line.” I did that. However, the last time whenever I called due to an email that said that I owed money, I was on hold for 25 or so minutes.

After I was on hold, I spoke to a girl who was very helpful. She said that normally, if one company came out and then the issue came back within 60 days, then they're supposed to send the same company out ‘cause they didn’t fix it the first time. So, that was why they were sending Total Air again. Then she said there was someone else that she would get a hold of and call me back. She got a hold of them again and called me back and set up a time. So, it was really easy once I finally got through to somebody. Also, the plumbing contractor they sent out in June was great.

I told her what was going on and she was willing to help with getting somebody to check everything with whomever she could get to come out. Then the contractor called me and gave an appointment. I called them back the next day because the leak got a little bit worse and they were quick to come out the next day. It was awesome and they did a good job. The guy that came out was really respectable and neat. He was real careful that he didn’t create a mess, so that was good. Overall, I love American Home Shield. American Home Shield's website was very user-friendly. We submitted a claim for our disposal that was broken, and they scheduled a third-party contractor to come out and look at it. They fixed it and it only cost $75. What AHS advertised was what we got, so we're happy with it. Also, the quality of the work done by the contractor was great. First, they came in and recognized the problem for a minute, and then, they came back with the replacement part and installed it lickety split. It was easy. I highly recommend American Home Shield.

I had a garbage disposal go out and then, my AC went out as well so I submitted claims over the phone to American Home Shield. The last time, I called them on Friday and got the schedule for Monday but I was fine with that. When the contractors came, my wife didn’t have any complaints. They did it in one day. The garbage disposal was done in about a two-hour period. Same with the AC, it was done in two hours. Since then, both the garbage disposal and the AC are working perfectly. So far, everything has been great and I'm happy with AHS.

There was a leak in the faucet and I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. Sometimes when I file a claim over the phone there is a disconnect between the automated system and the live representative. Sometimes the rep doesn’t see what I filed over the automated system. But, the reps are nice and they always say, “It’s my pleasure.” The plumber that AHS sent first came out on a weekend and we had to wait almost a week for him. He had to order a new faucet before coming back and putting it in.

We had a problem with one of American Home Shield's contractors though. My refrigerator had developed a block of ice in it and it stopped the defrosting component from working. The contractor added some water to defrost it really fast. A couple minutes after he had left, I went down to the basement and saw water coming down from the refrigerator. I have a water line there for the icemaker, so the water went through that hole down into the basement. The contractor told me that he forgot to tell me to put towels down. He came back and he had to put the part in and I found out that if the contractor makes a mistake, AHS doesn’t cover it. But still, my experience with American Home Shield is good.

Having a warranty on one's property is very valuable because it gives you a level of assurance which you can't get without a warranty. I've been with AHS for a long time and my experience with them has been getting better. One time, there was a message on our water heater so I failed a claim for repair online. Navigating through their website was pretty simple. Then, the contractors came out the following day. They relayed the problem and then went right to troubleshooting and the repair. Last week, somebody came out, checked my water heaters and ordered some parts which was needed. One of the water heater has been fixed so I’m getting hot water while the other water heater is still not working. I received the parts four days ago and then I called AHS and they said they will talk to that particular contractor and that they will call me. Underneath our sink, there was leaking underneath the garbage disposal. I filed a claim online and the process was really easy. I did that at night and the contractor called in the morning. He was excellent. He explained to me what was going on, why it happened and that we needed a new garbage disposal. Then he, very timely, went and got the part that was needed, like the whole garbage disposal, and came back. He told us when he was coming back with the parts. In that way, we could watch out for him again. The garbage disposal is working great.

Then we had another claim after the garbage disposal. Something happened to the coil in our oven. So, we did the same thing, filed online through American Home Shield. The contractor was an appliance company nearby and their latest appointment was three weeks away. I told them if they could call me with another time. They called and they said they could come the next day and gave me the time. They arrived on time and that was great. They looked at the problem and said that the coil needed to be replaced and they may order the part, but then I never heard from them again, to follow-up with whether or not they had gotten the part, or when they thought they would get the part.

So, I eventually had to call them a week later after the event, since the delay. They told me that they still haven’t gotten the part which is okay. They were to schedule a time that potentially they would get the part, and they were coming to service it, but we still haven’t heard anything. It has just been a lack of communication, which is kind of frustrating. However, we’re very very thankful to have this home warranty.

My toilet downstairs kept flooding my living room. When I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, I listed it as plumbing but told them that I thought that the toilet kept making a weird noise. The first contractor was Home Services of the Triad and a guy named Michael came out. He thought he fixed it but it shocked me that when he first came in to the house and he looked at the toilet and seen where it had flooded or exploded, it was the toilet but it was the bowl and it was not the base or the tank. Michael didn’t touch anything and he immediately told me that it was not covered.

He knew how to fix the problem, though, but he would have to pull the toilet up and then I would have to pay him an additional fee. I was trying to get the problem fixed and I agreed. As he pulled up the toilet, I went upstairs and I contacted American Home Shield. They only have people working for them who knew exactly the issues and if it wasn’t listed under my warranty, that contract should be able to tell me that it wasn’t. So, with that confirmation from AHS, I took it as that and I wouldn’t have to pay the guy. Then, Michael told me that everything was fixed and I shouldn’t have any more issues or problems. But three days later, it started happening again.

I recontacted the plumber company because if it wasn’t listed in the contract, then I figured American Home Shield wasn’t gonna be able to help me. But Home Services of the Triad contacted American Home Shield warranty because I was listed as a client with AHS. Another technician came, his name was Bryan. It was an actual emergency and not just that, I had to pay American Home Shield for the deductible fee even though it was denied and I ended up having to pay Michael. With me paying Michael, I thought that justified my services whatever needed to be done and it still wasn’t fixed, that they will come back out and they did not.

Before Bryan came out, Michael called me and asked what they said was wrong. I said the same thing happened which he said was crazy because he had fixed it. He wanted me to call him back and let him know what Bryan would say. In the meantime, someone told me that Michael was supposed to contact American Home Shield, let them know his assessment, and then they were supposed to call me and explain to me why his services was not covered. He did not do that and I didn’t know it because that was my second time dealing with AHS, so I didn’t know the process. They still hadn’t got the assessment that Michael had denied American Home Shield based off of my contract saying that it was not warrantied.

Bryan was nice. He came through the kitchen sink and he brought in a roto-rooter or snake and tried to clear the line that way. But no one could tell me what was clogging up the line. Michael and Bryan said that we should not use feminine products and flush. My daughter is 24 years old and I am 42 and I have a 17 year old, so we all know not to flush feminine products. But then they never could find anything in the line. Bryan thought he had flushed out the line and told me everything should be running smooth. But in four or five days, I had to get another appointment because it flooded again.

At this point, they still had not gotten the information back from Michael why the service was denied. And I think he didn’t deny services or turn in an assessment because he knew he took my money. The only thing that AHS did was credit me my money because the third plumber that I called was not with AHS but was based off of me looking into Google. I already had three floods by this time. They offered getting a confirmation from a different company and asked if a second opinion would make me feel better. The guy who came out showed me the clean-out pipe is directly in the bathroom where the flood was happening and he did the roto-rooter or the snake through that drain. That was the whole point why Michael denied my services and he charged me. But American Home Shield sent me a check for the amount that I paid to cover those expenses because he lied, he took my money, and it still was not fixed.

But the guy could not produce anything to show me why my bathroom was clogged up or why it was flooding as well. American Home Shield sent another company out, Advanced Appliance. When they came out, I did not like that they told me they set up an appointment with me and as it got closer towards the end of the day, I ended up contacting them to see what time the plumber was coming. They told me that they forgot and that the plumber was not there. He had called out that day and so he wasn’t gonna come. That was on a Monday morning.

They rescheduled me for a Friday and when that day came, they said that plumber was sick and was not there. Again, they didn’t call me and let me know that the plumber was not coming. I ended up calling again and they told me the plumber was not coming because he was sick. He was sick where he went to the hospital which I understood. But I thought their customer service reps would contact me and let me know.

I asked to speak to the supervisor because even if that was the only plumber that has the scope that can go down and look at the drain and see what’s clogging or blocking up the pipe, I felt like someone should have contacted me and let me know. The rep didn’t let me speak to the supervisor but she tried to sweeten me over. She told me that someone would come out and I had to wait again to the following Tuesday morning. I had to wait a whole week and when the plumber came out, he used the scope but didn’t fix the issue. He took pictures and that was it. I haven’t contacted American Home Shield. I don’t even know if it’s gonna happen again because we don’t know what made it happen in the first three times.

The contractors that AHS used, especially the first one who completely did me wrong, put a bad taste in my mouth and there has to be a little bit more checking on these contractors. Other than that, American Home Shield to me has been absolutely the best with customer service trying to help me get these issues fixed. Overall, I would recommend them to a friend and I’ve done that. I’ve shared it on my Facebook page and my Instagram pages because I really like them. I’m the president of the HOA out here in my neighborhood and I’ve told other homeowners about American Home Shield.

We’ve been in this house with American Home Shield for 31 years now and the last two claims have been worth it. The last two were excellent technicians and I got the information and person within a reasonable amount of time. They were excellent in terms of the service and it was where it ought to be. AHS is fair and we’re getting the service we’re paying for. However, for years, I have put up with nightmarish loops of incompetence and it’s astounding. It’s an on-demand situation where the loop of connecting with people was insane. There was a breakdown in the loop of communication. I had to repeat my calls and I had to call this plan, but they didn't answer. I had to wait for six weeks without a washing machine. I had to go out because whatever was on their end, they couldn’t address it in a timely fashion.

There was a leak under the kitchen sink and we caught it in time, so we didn’t damage stuff. The contractor came in and it was quick. The dispatch got handled within minutes, then there was an appointment within four days. We waited and they came within the time they said. They called when they said they were gonna come and they were very nice people. They did it with dispatch and they were clean, so I was very impressed and pleased.

American Home Shield is finally living up to what their company has advertised. I always felt badly talking to the people handling the phone calls. They didn’t know and they were part of a company system that was so inadequate. It was so frustrating and it made me so angry. I tried to be loyal and I hung in there, and I’m glad I did because the service that they promise, that their contract is for, is very helpful and very good. When it doesn’t work, it upsets our life when we have to take time off work and they don’t show or call, and it wasn’t just once or twice but to be able to get the service as promised, at the level of excellence that we paid for, is so helpful.

On Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 4:30, our HVAC compressor went out... the temperature in Henderson NV was 114. We called our own service guy who was here within minutes, because we could not wait for 24-72 hours for one of their service people. We needed a new compressor, fan, 7lbs of Freon.

Our A/C was back up and running by noon on July 27, 2018. Even with that, it took 12 hours for the outer inside walls in our home to be the same temp as the air. The total cost was $2,295.00. Because we couldn't wait 24-72 hours for one of their service techs, then another two to three plus days to be repaired, AMERICAN HOME SHIELD will not cover or even partially refund our out of pocket expense. I have canceled the contract, so no, I will not recommend AHS to anyone, especially those who live where it’s hot!

She calls the company back 7 business days later since she hadn't heard anything yet, and it turns out AHS took their sweet time and didn't even order the part for a full 5 days after the problem was diagnosed in the first place. So it's been a total of 11 days without AC, it'll likely be more than two full weeks before this is resolved due to their complete lack of competence. I read online reviews and American Home Shield was top-rated. I went to the website for my first claim and there’s a link on the website to open a claim. There’s a system set up with AHS and the vendors, and I immediately got text and email notifications and then I could track the technician. I was given a time range but unfortunately, the tech guy wasn’t able to stay in those time ranges because it’s a hot season and they were overwhelmed. He was professional, well-groomed, knew his business and took care of it, plus he identified himself and had a uniform. He worked on the unit and then he had to come back because as he did something and the unit clicked on, the outside condenser unit clicked on and he thought that it was what needed to be done. He didn’t replace the part as he just did some type of cleaning, and the unit failed about 24 hours later. He was back within 24 hours and he replaced the parts.

My refrigerator was not maintaining the cold temperature. I submitted a claim with AHS over the phone and I didn't like the attitude of the rep I spoke to. She spoke as if there was kind of a hostage in my hands. So their communication should be changed. Then, they sent out a tech from Quick Fix Appliance Service and it took them a long time to fix my refrigerator. And I was kind of a little bit unhappy about that. Eventually, it got it fixed two weeks later, but it's the refrigerator and the urgency was a little more. So I had to buy a small fridge just to support my household needs a little bit.

Sometimes I have a very good experience with American Home Shield's reps, but sometimes their folks push back and try to talk more about their policy. So nothing is more important than going by their policy and this is something they could change. We can get better feelings about getting things done as there are urgencies that also need to be dealt with. Other than that, I have them for five years now and I'm staying with them because I don’t have the time to shop around and find another one that could be better.

I always call on American Home Shield when I have claims because I want a specific company that I know is good to go out. You can't do that when you file claims online and I’ve had bad experiences with people they’ve sent out in the past. But quite often, there’s a long wait on the line. It's about 10 to 20 minutes but once you’re through, it’s fine. There's typically more than one appointment with the contractor though. They have to go and order the parts and then come back in a week or so. That’s also why they’re a bit slow. Ordering something alone would take a week. That’s a long time when you’ve got no AC. But I’ve had American Home Shield for about five years and they’ve definitely gotten better in the last year or so.

I was new to the area and we didn’t have home warranties. The broker that I bought this house through recommended American Home Shield. I've been with this company for four years now. The idea that you don’t have to go looking to find somebody who will fix and repair things is what’s kept me around. I’ve had air conditioning problems each year because of how hot it is out in the summer and they’re taking care of it.

A contractor came out for our air conditioning last month, but last night, it wasn't working again. So, I needed a service call again and reached out to American Home Shield online. It doesn't matter if they'll send me back the same contractor because what they'll do is supposedly warrantied at least this period, thus I don’t have to pay another fee. I spoke to the contractor this morning and they’re coming out Sunday.

When my AC's compressor kicks on, it makes a noise and it keeps going. I filed a claim for it with American Home Shield and they dispatched a company. The contractors were quick and they tried to address the problem but they weren’t able to fix it. It was almost like a process of elimination. They tried one thing that didn’t work and then they tried another. That didn’t work too, so I had them come out again and the last technician told me that when it starts to make the noise again, to record it using my phone and then either send it to him or request for somebody to come out so they can listen to it. We’re accomplishing that. The AC still It makes the noise every day.

The fan on my AC stopped working and it was in the middle of a heat wave. It was about 90 degrees every day. I filed a claim online with American Home Shield and their representative was great. I called the contractor to try to get them to do it sooner though but the soonest that they can come out is four days. I actually had to stay at my mother’s house because I have a seven-year-old and I have three dogs and we couldn’t stay in our house that was 90 degrees. AHS only has a couple of people in my area apparently and AHS tried reaching out to the company for me to try to get them to come sooner but they said their hands were tied.

My AC broke on a Tuesday and the contractor was scheduled to come out that Saturday but they were able to come out Friday because I kept calling them. They were nice and they tried to be accommodating as they could with having so many customers. They took the AC to my driveway and they fixed it and I didn’t even have to be there. Now, my AC is working better. I have a two-story townhome and my AC keeps it pretty cool. I wouldn’t choose to go through AHS again though because of their lack of contractors and they don’t really do bigger companies. They get small mom and pop companies and it’s literally the husband and wife who own it. So, the husband is the only one able to come out. If I was to renew, I would choose a different company and I would do more research before I get another home warranty.

My experience submitting my claim with American Home Shield online went well but there was a concern in terms of what the potential cost could be but it worked out well. There was a delay on getting the parts ordered and received for the icemaker and refrigerator, but with the service, it has been good. For some reason, the coolant on a cold system had escaped, so they had to load in the coolant and they put a sealer in to keep it from escaping. The technician that Setpoint Mechanical sent out was great. He explained to me what he diagnosed in terms of the issue and what was the correction above and beyond adding new coolant. So far, American Home Shield is working as advertised and promoted.

My experience with American Home Shield has been fine. The AC was not cooling and it was leaking from the forced air unit condenser area into the basement. It is almost not functioning because it is leaking all over the floor and damaging the walls down there. I had difficulty getting someone to come early enough in time. It was almost about three weeks by the time I could get my air conditioner serviced.

However, I have kept that claim open and have another appointment to have them look at that. It looks like they didn’t fix the entire leak problem from that area. I also have condensating water leaking all over the basement 24 hours a day. Initially, I thought it was fine but it is incomplete based on the result. So I’m not really happy about that part. That was hard in 100-degree weather. I have a personal relationship with the people who have serviced my forced air and air conditioning unit for years at other homes and I’m confident they would have come out faster and they would have been professional and correct and had done at least as well as this contractor did. I should have that as an alternative.

My other claim was for the faucets. I couldn’t get any water to come out from a few of them. I submitted the claims online. The tech who came out was fine as well. He was friendly, informative and helpful. He figured out what was wrong. After the repair, the faucets have been fine. AHS has been good to have as a back-up. It has really been a good kind of insurance policy and I’ve actually used it.

The first company AHS sent took a little over a week to come out and couldn’t do anything for me. They said that I needed a new breaker box and the repair was about $1,400. I told them that I’d like to have a second opinion. The contractor, A Quality Electric, was able to come out in two days. Their tech was very knowledgeable and explained a lot more. I told him that I’m on social security and I couldn't write a check for $1,400. He said that it was overpriced. Even the cost of that with their fees it wouldn't be that high. Sure enough, when they came back with the bid, it was only about $400.

They also found that inside the socket where the hairdryer is being plugged in was all burned up. The tech repaired all that then everything worked fine. The breaker hasn’t flipped at all since that was done. The tech with the first company was a nice guy but when I told him my whole story, I didn’t think to tell him to look in the socket. But the other guy immediately went to the socket. He said, “That’s gotta be your beginning problem because it shouldn’t flip that many times even if you have a bad breaker.” He seemed to be more knowledgeable than the first guy.

The air conditioner wasn’t blowing out cold air and when I called it in to American Home Shield, it took the contractors three days to come out. This was better than the last time we used the same contractor because they had problems with scheduling. I tried to call in and change them since we had issues with these guys the first time around. However, we were too far in the process and that wasn’t an option which it should have been because it was very stressful on me.

This time, the contractors came out on three different occasions. The initial step was to do testing on the AC to find out if there was a leak in the Freon. The second time, they knew there was a leak but they couldn’t find it. They did a leak detection and found a blockage so they said they had to order a part and get approval from AHS. They couldn’t do that right away so they came out a third time with the part, fixed the blockage and top off the Freon that had six leaks. Since then, everything has been fine. I’m an insurance agent and AHS is one of my clients. I don’t recommend them first to my high value clients because I know they have stipulations on how much they would cover for individual appliances and a lot of my clients have higher-end appliances. However, for a typical family or a normal residence, I write policies that I recommend them for those types of households.

We have a two-story house and the AC unit inside the house has a pan that collects water in case it leaks. It’s been filling up throughout the day and sometimes, it's filled up early in the morning. But now, it's empty. It depends on whatever time of day it's leaking and it stops the fan from running outside. The issue has been going on for two weeks now. On the first week, we had to wait because the guy didn't come on the day he was supposed to. The next time he came, it fell on a Friday and he said that he would have to wait until the following Monday to get to me because his order was taking too long. So we had to go through a whole weekend.

The contractors know where the water is coming from but they don't know where it's supposed to be going. I don't have wherever the water's supposed to drain outside. But because this is a new model house, maybe it wasn't built. I don't wanna get charged with another fee because the situation hasn't been fixed yet. So I've been staying in touch with the contracted guy but I haven't gotten any results yet. He even had a plumbing guy come out and the plumbing guy tried to see where the hose to the bathroom was going. But he couldn't see where it was going and it isn't a drainage issue either. He even went outside but he also didn't see an issue. He wrote on the paperwork that another AC guy will have to be sent out. But nobody has called. Nobody has said anything about coming back out here to fix the issue with my AC.

This is the second time I've had American Home Shield dealing with an issue in the home. I didn't have any issues with the first one but this one is lingering out. This contractor may not be as highly qualified as they should be in fixing an issue. The guy that AHS first sent out tried his best. But if another contract company came out to see what was going on, they might know something different.

We started extending the coverage since it was so convenient and made sense financially. We continue to keep it every year on our current home; it helped significantly with our old HVAC system (now replaced as of JAN 2018), appliances such as our stove and washing machine (AHS replaced our washer with a new one THANK YOU VERY MUCH). Always prompt service; sometimes it takes a day or two but it is understandable given the time of year (we live in a resort type area). I would recommend this for anyone interested in relatively inexpensive peace of mind "insurance" and even as a gift to friends or family.

We purchased a home warranty plan with AHS in May 2018. We had our credit cards stolen in May 2018. The company DID NOT communicate with us about payments not going through. We contacted them on June 5, 2018 and gave them our new credit card information and told them to take the payments out that were owed to them. They did not. We even went online and updated the online site with our bank account number and routing number... They did not take out any payments!

Here is now July 28, 2018 we called AHS to have an appliance repaired. They did not mention to us that we did not have a contract! They charged us a $75.00 service fee. The service provider called the company and that is when we found out that we did not have an active policy! We've been on the phone with them since July 28, 2018. We've asked to speak to a supervisor for 5 days in a row. Gave them updated credit card information and once again no payment was taken out. I called them on July 30th, I've been calling them every day with no resolve in us making our payments.

So on July 30th I called once again asked to speak to a supervisor and did not get a supervisor. Asked why my payment wasn't taken out? Once again nothing resolved! So July 31, 2018 I called and asked that we pay the 3 months that we owe and would it be back dated to May 31, 2018 when we first purchased the policy. I was told yes it would. So the next day I called to see if our warranty went into effect. It had but it was not back dated as I was told it would be! Once again asked to speak to a supervisor. I got a female by the name of Olgatree (I know that is not her name) who I spoke to. She told me I wasn't allowed to speak to a supervisor and that the previous person I spoke to lied to me about back dating the policy!

Well we cancelled our policy actually the day before yesterday August 1, 2018. Olgatree was rude, obnoxious and told me that our policy was cancelled. She stated to me that no payment was taken out. But lo and behold yes payment was taken out! So once again we called and told me them to refund our money! Lo and behold I they took out another 3 months worth of payments!! So over 300.00!! So I called them demanding a refund and they told me they have no proof of payment being taken out! I told them they were flat out lying because I have the proof from my bank! Then they changed their story. But once again the policy was not cancelled! They have had our phone numbers, our mailing address, our email address and from May 31st to today they could NOT have bothered to contact us and let us know that payment was not going through but they illegally charged us a 75.00 service fee for a policy we don't have?

This company is a rip off... scam, fraud the whole nine yards! I've already reported them to the Federal Trade Commission, my Attorney General's office and now to the Tennessee where their home office is at Attorney General!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL!! Their business practices are unethical heck their business is a scam! They need to be shut down! I have the proof they took out 6 months of payments AFTER WE CANCELLED THEM! They argued with me about they do not show on their system payments were taken out until I told them I have proof and then they changed their story! They state they are only showing one payment but I have 2 payments!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Heck their employee's have no idea how to do their job at all! This is the worst home warranty company ever!

AHS sent out an AC repair company that only took pictures of my system and said the evaporator coil needed to be replaced, which it did. AHS called and said it would cost me $1350 to be paid to the repair company for the services to bring my system up to code. I questioned the $1350 as my home is only 8 years old and was built properly. The repair company said I needed a water sensor, which I do have, a correct size drip pan, which I do have, separate primary and secondary drain lines, which I do have, correct hanging straps, which they are, list goes on.

I called AHS and told them what was going on, they said, "No worries. You can go with a Cash in Lieu option," stating that they would cover the cost of the coil and labor up to a certain amount. I brought in a reputable repair company on, my dime, to make the repairs to my AC system. Keep in mind the original company AHS sent out had my credit card information and charged me $1350 for work they did not do... now they changed systems and are not able to process a refund so I am waiting on a check to be cut from the original company.

This morning I received a call from AHS's Cash in Lieu department stating that they will cover $260, yes only $260. The representative stated that is what they pay for labor and the cost of an evaporator coil wholesale. So now the original company AHS sent has my $1350, the reputable company was paid $2399.99, and AHS is covering $260. I was then told by the representative that I could have saved $750 by going with the original repair company, I really hope they are recording their conversations. So, in real terms, it would have been cheaper for me to be scammed into changing out the correct components in my system rather than pay a reputable service provider.

When AHS's representatives are stating that it sounds like it would be easier to take the cash in lieu option rather than continue on with the original service provider you would take their advice and go with it, anyone would. I was cheated. I have paid AHS monthly for several years and the slap in the face I received from them as a loyal customer is shameful. I unfortunately have to pay them more than I will be receiving to continue out the contract. Once the contract is over I will never do business with them again, everyone be warned. I was warned several years ago but didn't heed it, also as I've talked to peers they have shared their experiences with AHS and couldn't believe I was with them, I now know what they were talking about.

After seeing the ice maker this morning, he admittedly said he installed it incorrectly. This caused a 6 inch ice block to fill up the entire icemaker. He of course was requested to come back to repair the icemaker yesterday. He came back yesterday morning & told me that our freezer would take 6 hours to defrost the ice (and ice block was formed in the icemaker due to faulty installation) and it couldn't be done any quicker than that. The last three contractors sent from AHS have been horrible in all aspects of service and professionalism. The first one disarmed a 12-year old dishwasher to finally tell me that we violated the warranty for not taking care of its maintenance. Hello, if it 12-year old don't you think I have taken good care of it? They ended up repairing the dishwasher. I believe they spent more money on the repair than what it costs. The second a refrigerator/freezer. The cooling system got broken. It took three days after requesting service for the contractor to come. Of course, we have to dump most of the food, it got spoiled. He put coolant into the system, we loaded the fridge with food, but after three days the same problem came back. A new refrigerator was ordered. It took two weeks for us to get a new fridge, two full loads of food lost, and there was no compensation for that. I was about to cancel my membership but wanted to give AHS another opportunity.

The last one was the AC. It stopped working. We found out the cause was a broken cable, that we fixed temporarily. It took the contractor four days to come after the order was placed. He came, fixed the cables, and did other things indicating the wiring did not comply with the city code. Well, I checked it was working, went back to work and when I came back at night the temperature was 82 instead of 75. Next morning I found out the outside unit was not working. Call contractor, no answer, call AHS and said I have to wait until Monday and refused to authorize me to find another company when the temperature has been around 115 degrees with the heat index. My wife, myself, and the pets have to move out. On Monday, AHS admitted it was an emergency. Here I am four days later and the AC has not been fixed. A company I contacted is coming today to fix it and I am out of AHS. IT HAS BECOME A NIGHTMARE.

We "had" American Home Shield when we purchased a house in TX (2015) that was paid for by the seller. We had two service calls the first year (replacing a hot water heater thermostat & putting more Freon in A/C - that cost us over $200) which turned out okay. In year two we stayed with the service at around $50/month and during that year the ac didn't cool at beginning of summer so we called again. The tech that came out told us he "couldn't" find the leak but was going to replace the unit in the attic. I asked why they didn't just replace out the whole unit since AHS would only pay $20/lb for R22 freon ($125/lb by that company) and he told me something very interesting.

It seems the "contracted" companies that AHS uses can only turn in receipts for ~$100-125 per customer or they get dropped to the bottom of the referral list - my understanding from this tech was that ~90% of that companies business came from AHS or other home insurance companies. Bottom line for this call, AHS was going to allow $995 against a $5000+ bill to replace a $350 coil. I'm not kidding, the estimate from the ac company was over $5,000.00 of which we had to pay over $4,000 and the estimate specifically stated there would be NO warranty for anything except the inside (attic) unit, would NOT guarantee the work would fix any previous issues/problems and specifically excluded any freon replacement regardless of where it leaked from.

We opted for the payout to come to us - yes they will do this, but not until you get through several deeper levels of red tape and several hours (literally ~3hrs) on the phone. We bought a brand new Trane system 5 ton unit w/ gas heater pack for just under $9000 (with new ducting and smart thermostat) that uses the "new" ($10-20/lb) freon. We then waited for 30 days after we deposited the check from AHS and then cancelled the policy - plan on another 60-90 minutes on the phone to cancel. To add insult to injury, they charge you another full months premium as an administrative "fee" to cancel. To all of the realtors out there making your commission off selling these policies, you should really look at this post and feel ashamed getting your clients into these worthless policies. Don't believe me, leave me a reply and I'll call you and show you all of the paperwork, phone logs etc backing this up.

Bought a house a couple weeks ago and got AHS since it had decent reviews compared to many competitors... Put in a request this morning, since we woke up to sewage in our bathtub. I had to call since they were supposed to call me and schedule, but never did and they couldn't come out until Friday (basically 3 days from now). The company we were referred to was very rude and has a whole 2 stars online. It was frustrating because this was kind of an urgent matter and we didn't want to live in an outhouse for 3 days... It is also scary making sure all the sewage stayed in the tub. So we called back and they finally dispatched someone to come out the next day... too long. Finally we got someone to come out today after calling multiple TIMES! The person came so late and all they could do was tell us they couldn't fix the issue, but they would let our home warranty know and AHS would be giving us a call.

AHS never called us to tell us THEY WON'T COVER IT NOR WAS ANYONE ELSE WAS COMING TO FIX THE ISSUE. So now I missed an entire day of work playing tag with them and they weren't even going to tell me another plumber wasn't coming as we were told. Now after chasing them all day it is AFTER HOURS and more expensive, we got a plumber down here to fix the issue. Thanks for nothing AHS! I hope you enjoy the $75 service fee as no service was provided... It would have been cheaper just to get the plumber out here ourselves. AHS is a scam. Don't be stupid and buy into their "coverage." You are better off alone. Google will help you for free.

There was an issue with my sump pump and I filed a claim for it with American over the phone. The tech that they sent was able to come out quickly and he had the supplies with him on his truck and was able to fix the pump in one visit. Although my homeowner's insurance would cover some of the stuff, my premiums would go up every single time. Even to fix a broken window, premiums would go up, so a person is afraid to use his homeowner's insurance. So, a place like American Home Shield is absolutely the way to go. I've used AHS several times and they have been excellent every time. One time, a plumbing problem reoccurred and the plumber had to come back but he figured it out right away, fixed it and there was no second charge. I highly recommend AHS. It is a good deal.

My water heater sprung a leak and I called American Home Shield to make a claim. The contractor would have been out the next day but with my schedule, it took a week for them to get out. When the contractors came, they explained what was gonna happen and everything's working fine now. The repair could've cost me over a thousand dollars so having the warranty on our property is very valuable.

When we moved a little over a year ago, we had trouble with the air conditioning. I called American Home Shield. That time, I really had a hard time because they said nobody responded when they posted my claim so they told me to find my own person. However, the guy who came lied to me all along. He was supposed to call AHS to get the estimate and I was supposed to pay it and then get reimbursed. He never got a hold of AHS. The day he was here, he said he was on hold for 45 minutes and that he’d try again later. I paid him $200 to recharge the Freon. He said there was a leak but there wasn’t because we haven't had any problems since.

When I filed a claim recently for the leaking air conditioner, another company responded so quickly. The contractor came in the afternoon of the same day. He was very friendly and explained what he was doing. He got everything taken care of and there has been no problem at all since. I appreciate the change in the policy of AHS from a year ago and I like the way where I just call AHS and then the contractor does everything for you. That’s very helpful. The contractors seem to be much more responsive as well and I’m very happy with the way things are now.

American Home Shield is well worth it. Recently the breaker was popping and there was no electricity going to the bathroom. Submitting an online claim was easy and the contractor got out fast, but the issue occurred again so he had to come back out. He was great and it was a very good experience.

I submitted the claim with AHS and they called me within an hour. They sent someone in 2 days because the next day after I filed the claim I wasn't gonna be around. Then the contractor fixed what was wrong and left in 15 minutes. AHS answered all my questions. They gave me information that I don’t even know.

AHS doesn’t stick with the same contractors, like with the plumbers, but their service is great. We’ve got the warranty since we first moved in here about ten years ago and it’s totally worth it. I’d recommend it to other people that had moved into the neighborhood. It’s gonna save you. They sent Plumbing with Landmark for the upstairs guest bathroom toilet which was leaking. The toilet was one of those newer types, so I tried adjusting it, turning it one way, leaving it a day, turning it another way, leaving it a day, but it still kept running every few minutes, so I didn’t know what was going on. The technician came over and he took the guts out and looked at it and replaced the float. Then he left and I called them and I said it was still making that noise. He came back a little bit later and found that on one of the seals, there was a little divet that was letting the water drain ever so slowly. So he replaced that and now, there’s no problem.

My dryer stopped going around and I filed a claim over the phone. The contractor that American Home Shield sent out has been here before. The contractor's demeanor was fine and they did exactly what they said they were gonna do. They had to order a part so it was on the second visit, which was five days from the first visit, that they were able to fix my dryer. American Home Shield has always done what they’ve always said they would do. I recommend them but only locally because that’s where I'm at. Though I've only had experience with plumbing and appliances, AHS has done fine.
