We had an issue with our AC unit and when we submitted a claim with American Home Shield, they sent out a tech from Air Design AC & Heating. Everything went fine and I didn't have any problem. It also didn't take them long to fix the issue.
Sandra,
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

I called a plumbing claim to American Home Shield on a Sunday. Their contractor All American Plumbing and Draining came to do service in a day or two. There was a leak from the shower and they did a great job repairing that. Having AHS has been pretty good. We had a couple of issues in the past with coverages but they're doing well for us.
Connie,
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I’ve had American Home Shield out twice and both times had been wonderful. They’re very efficient and timely. Also, what they say, they do. There isn't anything hidden and everything is upfront. That’s what I like about it. I normally do claims online and it’s extremely easy. On my recent claim, Mark was my technician and he was absolutely wonderful.
Maryann,

Dakota Lock and Key was quick but the plumbing claim took forever. I was literally without water for almost close to three and a half weeks. That’s the amount of time it took for them to decide on a company because I’m sure that they were diddling with the price. American Home Shield didn't wanna pay for some things. They didn't like the first bid they got, so they went and got a second one, and it just took that long. AHS should not make somebody wait three weeks. I was not pleased with that.

The contractor responded kinda quickly. I didn't expect the same moment, but he came a couple of days later, and that was okay. He did a magnificent job and he kept everything clean. I felt that the dishwasher wasn’t repairable, but he did it and things are awesome now. It was an excellent service.

With my electric issue, North Coast came out within two or three days. Bill, the gentleman that was sent, did a great job, was professional, corrected the problem, and I'm happy. It costs us $62, but you'll never know when the air conditioner, refrigerator, or washer is gonna go out. We've been with AHS for 18 years and with them, we don't worry if we have an issue because we know they'll take care of it. We've had to use them a couple times, and they've all been satisfactory.

The AC unit would turn on inside but it wasn’t going to the outside unit to turn on the fan. The contractor who came for it was pleasant. He was very respectful. He wasn’t able to fix the issue though. He had to call AHS and let them know what the issue was. He left me a paper saying that there was a low voltage. He believed there was a break in the wire somewhere.
He told AHS it looked like some critter got underneath my crawlspace and chewed on the wires. However, my crawlspace is undisturbed and the wire situation was right outside by the unit. It looked like when they installed the unit, they just used electrical tape to cover up the stuff. That stuff has deteriorated through weathering and four of the wires were missing caps. It would be better if AHS could allow me to send the pictures ‘cause they told me there was no way for a customer to send pictures to prove my crawlspace wasn’t disturbed or that it was a pest issue. They said only a technician could send pictures in, so there’s no way for me to contradict him.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

When we first started using American Home Shield's service, it was very good. Their rep gave me an introduction of what the service is and what it covers. he told me what to expect and what the warranty does with this and that. There was a time when I got my washing machine connected and started using my water but then the water wouldn't go down. It was only going down slowly. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and their contractor came with their snakes. Something had gotten stuck into one of my pipes and one of the techs got it out. However, he made a mess of my basement. Now, my carpet and everything down there is stained and I'm not happy about that.
Plus, that contractor charged 200 and something dollars when I didn't feel that they did the things that they needed to do in order to resolve my issue. They didn't even find out where the plumbing system was going and how far that system goes into my house. They messed up my rug and I went down to get stuff for myself later on from the city. The contract didn't even offer to do that. Instead, they wanted to charge me.
For the latest part of the plumbing claim, I called AHS again because I was hearing a little dripping sound in my ceiling. I bought an infrared gun which shows me different temperatures. I was looking at the places where I was hearing drops but then I didn't see water damage, swelling, or discoloration. I went to the bathroom and the gun showed me the heat but there was one blue spot which would indicate that there was water there. However, that spot wasn't changing or flowing. The guy sent by Home Shield told me that there could have been a hole there and someone covered it up and painted it. He asked me how long the issue had been going on and I told him it had already been two weeks. He said that within two weeks, I would have seen that spot either dripping or it would have been puffed up.
The tech told me that a lot of times in homes with PVC pipes, water pressure may be ticking on something and the water would sound like it's dripping but it's not. I paid him $70 for his time but he didn't do anything. Still, he gave me assurance that I'm fine. This was different from the previous plumbing thing that their other contractor did. I felt like I was snaked by that person. I thought that plumber would have at least put stuff down to make sure that water wouldn't get through. Now, my carpet is jacked.
More recently, I saw some ants at my place and took a video of the critters. I went online and saw something that looked like a termite. That was when I got something from American Home Shield saying that they now had Terminix Pest. I called them and they had someone come out to do an inspection to see what types of services they could give men. The person who came made me aware that Terminix was a one time offer with American Home Shield when initially I thought it was multiple.
When their tech came out, I showed him the video and he told me that what I had were ants and not termites. I was really happy about that. He put down stuff for ants around the house and gave me advice. Both the lady who did the inspection and the tech were very professional. They gave me all the information I needed to prepare myself. They made me understand what was included with my American Home Shield Warranty and what options they had available. Overall, I'm satisfied with AHS.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Home Shield was recommended by a friend. It took a little while to get AJ Plumbing Services scheduled in a relatively timely fashion. They followed up to schedule a first time to come out. They needed to order a part, they did so, and then followed up to put in the part, all in quick order. That was a very good first experience. I feel good about that. But I'm less rosy on any additional claim. We’re still waiting on a second claim where our vendor seemed to have gone silent for the last two weeks. I want to give them a bit of an easier time because Coronavirus. People are moving at a difference pace right now, but I would’ve loved a bit more for our oven issue. They also had to order a part and we haven't heard from them. Both claims were placed exactly a month ago.

My dryer pulley went out so the dryer wasn’t rotating. My dryer crapped out on a Friday, but it took Kingdom Appliance until Tuesday to get out. That’s one thing that I didn’t like about that - it wasn’t very quick service. You put a claim with Home Shield, and then they all forward it to a local service here, and then the local service isn’t open Saturdays and Sundays. They’re only open Monday to Friday. So, by the time they contact us on Monday, they won't be able to come out until the following day. From the time we submitted it, it took four days for them to come out. It was good service. I just wish they showed up a bit sooner instead of me having to wait four days to get my dryer fixed.
I don’t know if that’s because of the choice of their providers here in the local area, but they should have some kind of weekend coverage. There are plumbers, electricians, stuff like that. Appliances go out. People lose their refrigerators. Their process is too lengthy. I could’ve called somebody on my own without going through their warranty process, and I could have somebody out that evening. I would’ve found somebody.
During this whole COVID-19 thing, the tech tried to distance himself from us, so he really didn’t talk to us that much. He was quick. He knew right away what was wrong with the dryer. He took five minutes to open it up, then maybe another two minutes to replace the part. and then another five minutes to put it back together, and he was gone. He said, “You’re good to go,” and then I said, “Oh, thanks, man,” and then he walked out. Not disrespectful or anything, but I’m sure that he doesn’t want to interact with people too closely.

The faucet started leaking all of a sudden and I raised a call with American Home Shield. Drain Masters was assigned for that call. Once the technician came to identify the issue, he came to know that the leakage is from the faucet. The faucet is not yet replaced but I have been told by Drain Masters that they’ll be scheduling an appointment today.
I’m really satisfied with American Home Shield. So far, I have raised 3 claims. One is for the air con leakage and I’m fully satisfied with that. The other one which I have raised for the plumbing work, when I registered the claim, instead of selecting as faucet, I selected leakage. But I clearly mentioned in the description saying the leakage is from the sink. The engineer came and said, "You didn’t mention it is from the faucet so you need to raise a separate claim for that.” So, it’s kind of additional $109 for me. I would have handled it as a single claim, but instead of that, I handled it through two claims.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for a year now and a little bit. They’re timely and since I’ve been here, I've had two calls. It has been a good deal for myself because I don’t know about those heaters and things like that, and they send people that can handle it. They’ve done it all times. When the contractor came out, they did a good job and checked everything out. The last time they came out, they didn't completely see one of the brackets because he said he just pushed it in there, and it worked. Now, I got the air conditioning going and it's working good. Home Shield replaced my water heater. They paid for the water heater but I was told to pay the cost and then to send it and they would see if they would reimburse me. It's easy to submit claims with them and I haven't had any problems before. But this last time, it was difficult to try to get an understanding when I'm reading the contract. I asked the person answering the phone and I was told it was part of their IT Department. I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak to She said she would go talk to the supervisor and then she came back saying the same thing. I asked for someone to call me back and she said no. She told me where I can get information but there was no resolve to the situation because I couldn't talk to them.
I ended up paying the additional fees so I wasn't happy at all. She can merely do what somebody else is telling her. It was not a very smooth transition. When it renewed, there was no problem when I called in and got the renewal. I paid it up front and got done with it. But as far as the communication in the circle of the client, the customer service rep and the IT Department was a really gray area that could be cleared up. Anything else would be fine. I just got the claim completed last week and so it took three and a half weeks. I could've called back and maybe got another customer service person but that was just gonna escalate it.

Sometimes waiting on contractors to call me to schedule an appointment has been pretty slow. It’s nothing that American Home Shield can control ‘cause everything gets sent over to the contractors. But that was a contractor issue, not necessarily AHS. As soon as I submitted the claim online, AHS gave me the name and the contact information to Rod Mechanical. I went ahead and called them. They did everything they could to get me in scheduled that first day that I called. It just didn’t work out, unfortunately. But they got me squeezed in an available timeslot. All Hours Emergency Plumbing came out. I knew they have a timeframe between 12:00 to 5:00, but I was under the impression that the guy was gonna come out at 11:00, from the dispatch people. Apparently, they weren't coordinating with this so he didn't come out till about 4:30. It was okay, but they shouldn't have let me wait at home. I had to do some things that were very important like doctor's appointments and a few other stuff, and I couldn't do 'cause I was tied up. I was sitting there waiting and they kept on putting me on hold for so long. That was a waste of time.
It wasn't the technician's mistake. It was the guys at the company that answered the phone. There was a little bit of misunderstanding between them. But other than that, it worked great. The technician was very quick and a nice guy. He knew what to do and changed it very well then he was out. Updated on 05/21/2020: Was told by AHS via email to hire any licensed and insured HVAC contractor to effect timely repairs. I did so. We were told by (3) different HVAC contractors that trying to locate a leak in a 15 year old plus system would not be cost effective. Chose the Contractor that we felt most comfortable with and had the following done: Replaced Condenser, Line Set and Evaporator Coil. All is well. They did an excellent job. Forwarded receipt to AHS on 05/11/20. Have not heard from AHS since and quite frankly I don't expect to.
We pay a monthly fee for the service to provide peace of mind. Peace of mind was provided, until something broke. Apparently I would have been much better off to set aside funds for emergency repairs rather than paying a fee to AHS, especially considering I subsequently had to pay for the repairs out of pocket anyway, in addition to the $100.00 technician fee to have someone come out to tell me what I already know, it's broken. Very disappointing experience.
Original review: My Central AC unit is not working. No cooling. Contacted AHS on the 23rd of April. The contractor that they assigned to us couldn't come out until the 27th. The technician on the 27th says, "You have a leak. We need to get authorization from AHS to proceed to investigate. We will be in touch to schedule appointment to perform a isolation test". Next day still no one from AC contractor has reached out. Bear in mind that it is 104 deg. today. Dog panting, wife steaming. Received text message today, the 29th to rate AHS as they have been advised that work has been completed. What! I reach out to AHS, can't get thru. Called AC contractor and am told that they will send out tech to perform test on May 5, 2020. They will then return on the 12th to determine where leak is. Outside temperature will continue to be brutal during this period, high 90's - to low 100's. AHS potential buyers beware. This is a circus best avoided.

I have had many contractors work in my home. I decided to get AHS coverage. This has been the WORST experience I have ever had! My hot water tank stopped working 4 weeks ago, and I still don't have a replacement tank. When I called customer service, I was repeatedly disconnected after being on hold for 20-20 minutes. I have 23 calls into their customer service line. They have ONE contractor that they use in the Richmond, VA area. The contractor appt took almost 4 weeks after they assessed that I needed a new tank.
Due to a mixup, they cancelled my appointment. When I called to inquire, I was told the earliest they could fit me in was the following week. Another whole week without hot water. My son ended up having to do some plumbing work and removed the old tank, which was leaking, and capped off the hot and cold intake/output from the hot water tank so we could have running water in the house. We HAD to get the tank out because of the leak. It was ruining the floor. The contractor still plans to charge us for tank removal. WTF!!! Waste of money, time and effort. I'll be cancelling my contract as soon as all is said and done.

In the last couple of three years, we would get American Home Shield and they would assign me a contractor. Within four days (sometimes it was up to a week), they would come and they would say they have to order the part. We would then have to wait almost another week before it was finally fixed. We also have American Home Shield in our rental home and in one of the cases, that same thing happened. Our daughter happens to live there and she has two small kids. After four days of the water standing full in the washer, the contractor said it was the pump. He went back, ordered it and it was going to be at least four more days. Our daughter's husband took the washer apart, went to the water pump and it was a sock in the water pump. He took out the sock, and it worked.
I called American Home Shield and told them I wasn't going to pay that $75. The guy just looked and he didn't even take it apart to see if it would work without a brand-new one. They said he diagnosed, but if someone's going to diagnose, they should take the unit apart to find out what was wrong. This time though, I got a really good service from American Home Shield. I did the claim online and they gave me the name of the company. The company was not going to be able to get here until Wednesday. We have a Kenmore washer which is 20 years old and if the first company had come, it was going to be the same type of thing where they don't come with anything. They wouldn't have taken it apart and I can bet that they would've said a belt and the belt was not what was wrong.
I called American Home Shield, talked to a person and asked if they could get me somebody that could come sooner than Wednesday. She gave me A Plus Appliance Repair and they were awesome. They came the next day instead of waiting four days and the guy took the washer apart, saw what was wrong, and fixed it right there. It wasn't anything like I would've thought and the next day, it was done. He was so nice and knowledgeable too. I cannot say enough about him. I had been rethinking keeping American Home Shield, and now I will continue. I don't care about going online anymore though. To me, that's diddly-squat because they give you the first one on the thing. I want to talk to somebody and if I can request A Plus in the future, that's what I'm going to do.

I’ve been happy with American Home Shield. It’s easy to do claims and when they had Miller Pools come out to service my pool filter, it was efficient. They came out twice and the guy who helped was Cody. It was incredible communication and he was punctual. I never met the guy before, but I talked to him on the phone and he was very professional in his communication, which I can say is not normally the case with a lot of other pool companies we’ve dealt with. So, I’ve been very happy with the service they’ve offered us.

I'm very pleased with AHS. Although I had one issue, it wasn’t their fault, but the fault of the service tech who came out. I had a freezer leak and the guy who came wasn’t very good. But that was corrected. I got two Russian guys who were probably doctors in physics. They were terrific and spent hours, but they figured the issue out and fixed it. I was pleased with that.
I have a couple of water heaters and Loyalty Home Services fixed one. I’m not even sure what it needed but they fixed that very promptly. They did a great job. Then I had another claim for my Honeywell regulator and I requested Loyalty. The same guy came and did a terrific job too. He was right on time. I was very pleased with him. My house is about 15 years old and I think you’re crazy if you don’t have coverage. I’d recommend AHS. I've had them for a long time. We’ve owned this house for about five years and we’ve had them on this house. I also had them on a previous house, which I owned for about five years.

I’m very grateful for Alvarez Plumbing. They came out right away when we called, so they’re a great company. When I called American Home Shield, I asked if they could give them the business, but they gave us somebody else first who was about 45 miles away and it was someone we never could get ahold of. When I didn’t hear from the other company, they contacted Alvarez, so I was happy with that. However, I’m getting to the point where I’m ready for the renewal of my American Home Shield, and I’m trying to decide whether or not I want to do that because when I call them, it’s always so hard to get people out right away. It’s no skin off their back to have someone call you right away too, but it'll be 48 hours before you can hear from somebody.
Usually, with us, it’s always been with the water issue, so I can’t wait. Water scares me because I don’t know whether or not it’s a big deal. I put towels down and I wait and it’s annoying. The contractor will come out in a week. It’s a second home, and I can’t always be right there waiting. They're all homeowners too, and they should feel the same thing that we're feeling. If I didn’t have American Home Shield, I would just call a plumber and the plumber would be coming out that day. Instead, I have to jump through so many hoops. I first have to pay my deductible then I have to beg them to send somebody out and it's an emergency. They're very nice when you talk to them, but the annoying part is you have to play every single game to get help.

But the guy who came was totally different. He was very knowledgeable. When I raised the matter, he said there was no problem. He understood what was going on and he took care of it. He knew what he was doing and it was nice. I liked him. Everything was fine. I have really enjoyed working with AHS. They really know what they're doing. They are reliable. I’m really happy with AHS because we’re gonna re-sign. We got the service when we bought our house because we insisted on a home warranty, and the sellers had to pay for it. My refrigerator has gone out, and I’m getting a replacement. All I had to do was pay a service fee and disposal fee. We’re waiting for them to call us to tell us when they’re gonna deliver it. I've told them how happy I am. When I first started out, I caught the person on a bad day, but when the conversation was all said and done, she made it right. On Time Plumbing & Heating came for a blockage but has to come back and replace or repair an issue. There’s a breakage because there’s a rip in the line. In order to find the rip or where the breakage is, they had to send a camera down, and then dig up a spot. It’s a hundred-year old house.

I have two houses and they both are covered by AHS. It has been fairly easy to submit my first claim as far as the technicians they have sent. I spoke to a live person when I filed my claim, but I was a little annoyed because they mispronounced my name. I corrected them and they continued to mispronounce it throughout the whole conversation. I said whatever and just gave up on that.
My GE washing machine did not start at all. The electronic board on it went out completely. The contractor came out and replaced the board. They were polite and knowledgeable. They were also masked and have gloves on. I’ve done about five loads of clothes and now the board is not telling the washing machine to drain. Now, it’s not draining and the pump is grinding. The washing machine is less than five years old.
I don’t know how the expensive electronics are on it, but it’s ridiculous. I understand, with the COVID-19, and the parts are made probably in Japan or China. But it took a month to get the parts in and then I had to get people back out. It has definitely been painstaking. I told the rep my frustration. I said that I already waited a month to have a washing machine and after doing less than half a dozen loads, it’s broke again, and there’s no way for them to tell me how long it’s gonna take to get repaired again. They got somebody out the next day so I can’t complain that way.
They’ve been really good as far as the service department with the technicians that have come out, but it does not seem to fix the problem. It seems to be a series of electrical things within the washing machine. If this doesn’t fix the washing machine, I hope they give me credit towards one so I can go buy a new one. I just don’t see throwing good money after bad. I don’t think they should spend more money than they need to. I don’t know if sending someone out to buy these parts is the most cost-effective thing on a $500 washing machine.
Thank you for the feedback regarding the washer. We would love to come to a resolution in terms of this. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

Something happened where my heater messed up and AHS came out and fixed that. Then my refrigerator had messed up and I wound up getting a replacement for that. It’s worth having a home warranty. If only AHS has a warranty on shingles and stuff on the house, that will probably make people more interested in them. With my electric issue, I called the night before and the next morning MidSouth Electric was right here to find out. Usually, I have to wait two or three days to get somebody to come out, but they were out the next day. What happened wasn’t my problem, it belonged to the electric company, but the tech had to tell me that because I didn't know. He was very professional in doing it.

Somebody told me about American Home Shield and I thought it would be good to have, so we've always had it. It's great and I couldn't do without it. Recently, I had a problem with all three of my appliances. My dryer was making a horrible screaking sound that drives people nuts. My brand-new washing machine wouldn't come on and it just so happened the warranty had been out for two weeks. I've had trouble out of my washing machine before and the warranty people came out and put something on it. It couldn't be fixed by warranty though. Also, the heat escapes out the front of my stove and it's making stuff longer to cook. When I put in my orders through American Home Shield, the agent did very good.
I asked and they were going to send a man out who works on appliances that I get all three of them done. The man came and he had some little tools and a machine-like thing. I like him. He knows what he's doing and he's the same one who comes all the time when I have problems. He fixed my washing machine and found that the rubber seal around the stove came out of it. He also took the dryer apart, checked it out, and said the front and back bearings were out of it. Now, I don't have to hear the horrible screaking sound that the dryer was making. I've been able to get my laundry done and I'm using my oven again as well.

It’s the fourth time I’ve had Elite Appliance come and check my washer. Supposedly, they fixed it. I did my first load and the agitator just popped out of the washing machine. They're supposed to be coming again to try to fix it. The guy was nice but it was just not getting fixed. They try to fix something and mess something else up. I’ve been without a washer for a while already. It’s very frustrating, especially now that we can’t be going to the Laundromat and we can’t leave the house.
Every time the contractors come out, it’s $75 unless it’s under warranty. But I’m seriously thinking of just letting the insurance go for that reason. I’ve had it for so long, and just the thought of how much I paid, I could have just bought a new appliance instead of paying so much a month throughout the years and having to pay every time they come and service something.
I’ve had problems with the air conditioner. They come and sort of fixed it and it works for the summer. The next thing, it happens again. My sister has AHS also and they replaced her air conditioner totally on two of her homes. She asked me why they didn't do that to me. I didn't know. I’m hoping that maybe they’ll cover my washer and replace it. But I don't know what’s gonna happen after they come again. Right now, with the Coronavirus, I’m putting everything at risk.

I made a service order when the AC unit on our house wasn't producing cold air and it was easy. I just went to the website, submitted an issue, and they assigned it to somebody quickly. The contractor called within 40 minutes and they scheduled to come that same day as well. They were looking at 2 o'clock, but they were able to come out around 10:00. The issue was a burnt capacitor, probably because of storms we've had previously, and they were able to make the fix.
One of the reasons we selected American Home Shield was that they had a broad basic coverage of appliances and electric. Plus, they had a good reputation of a quick turnaround. This is our second claim and the first one was still a very quick process. The last time we made a claim, it was on a holiday weekend and it took a little bit longer for a response, but we were expecting that. Still, they were faster than our expectations in this last one and the first one too.

I bought a house about a month ago and the contractor came out to do the lock rekey. They were on time and I was very satisfied with the work. The guy was very friendly and given what’s going on right now, kept our social distancing and he respected that. He wasn’t here long but he did six locks for me and rekeyed, and everything works perfectly. I paid my $75 deductible and everything was covered. I had him do an additional doorknob for me that was broken. It was a very reasonable rate and he was able to key it also for the same rekeys as the other six that he did for me.
One of the locks was a keypad lock that was not working and he told me if I put batteries in it, he would show me how to work it. I found some batteries, we got it working and he did run me through on how to use it. Now, it works perfectly. So, it was a very good experience. He was very helpful, friendly and we’re very pleased with the overall experience.
I called American Home Shield for an electrician and the problem was not resolved. The guy reported back to AHS and one of their representatives reached out to me the next day. I wasn’t happy with the response that I got on that particular case but it had nothing to do with the electrician. There wasn’t much that he could do. I had some outlets that went out on me after I bought the house and we didn’t know why. He had a few opinions and believes that the problem was behind the wall. I have a brand-new kitchen in this house. So, we didn’t do anything and he didn’t know what was covered. So, he relayed to American Home Shield what was going on.
I was in the house for literally three days when this problem occurred and when AHS contacted me, I didn’t like the attitude and the service of the representative. He told me flat out that the electrician reported the problem to them and that if I wanna punch a hole in my brand-new wall, that’s on me. The electrician is not responsible and they will not fix it. American Home Shield will not cover it and then, if they can locate the problem, then they will decide whether or not the problem is covered. He said that if it’s wear and tear on the wiring, then they’ll cover it. So, he was leaving me no options.
I’m a brand-new homeowner and I told him that I understand they’re not gonna cover the wall. I could tear this whole kitchen apart to try to find out what the problem is but then, I’m getting no response from them. If it’s not the exact answer, then they’re not gonna cover it and I’m gonna have a bigger problem on my hands. He was saying that if I wanna take a chance and cut a hole in my wall and let the guy figure out what’s wrong, then maybe they’ll cover. AHS is not doing me any favors. I can do that on my own.
I got a little bit of an attitude with him and told him that their guy came here and he was fine. I didn’t have an issue with the electrician and he gave me his opinion because he couldn’t do anything. I said that I got friends that are electricians that can give me opinions. So, they could just send me my $75 back and I would figure out how I’m gonna handle it. I knew the answer. That was not refundable and I was not getting my $75 back. Now, we’re still in a limbo because I haven’t reached back out to the electrician and I haven’t talked to American Home Shield. If I contact them on this issue depending on what I decide to do and what they would possibly cover or not cover, it still is an open case. For now, I just let it go and I have it rigged up so I could bypass the problem.
I’m a nice guy and I’m understanding but the rep kinda came at me like this was my problem and they were not covering it. They should help me out here or give me something that I could work with and some kind of hope and guidance. I didn’t know what to do, which was why I have American Home Shield. If I knew how to fix it myself, I would and I wouldn’t need those guys. It was very cold and impersonal, and the rep kept harping on that they were not covering this nor that. I was a little disappointed.
After I had such a great experience with the locksmith and American Home Shield, I paid the $75. They sent the guy out and everything worked great. I was dumbfounded because it was a week later that I used the electrician and it was a total different experience based on AHS. The electrician did his job and he was very courteous. When he was here, we decided not to do anything until we found out if it was covered and then, that was when I got the phone call and everything kinda went awry.
I don’t wanna blast AHS. It wasn’t horrible and they’re a good company. I’m happy that I have the peace of mind having a warranty service. It just wasn’t what I was expecting on that case. I hoped he would have said that he was not worried about the walls as far as getting that repaired. He was telling me every reason why it’s not gonna be covered and that wasn’t helping me. Still, I’m gonna use AHS again like I did and I’m not even gonna let it be categorized as a terrible experience. I’m sure that if I call AHS for something else, it could be a totally different experience.
I’m assuming it’s brand-new wiring and something disconnected somewhere behind the walls. I don’t know what that would cost if they say it’s not covered and then I would get a bill from the electrician. He has been here all day tracing the wires and I don’t know what that would even cost. I have faith in AHS. Everybody’s going through this mess together. The representative could have been having a bad day although he could’ve been a little friendlier. The other rep with the lock followed up with the locksmith, and he was friendly and asked me about the experience. I’ve already paid for them and I’d continue to use them if I need them for another year. Most likely, if I use them again or if I get this problem resolved, however it goes, I’ll probably re-up next year as well.

A friend of mine had AHS and got me into purchasing it. I've had my contract at my address for a year. My dad passed away a couple of years ago and I advised my mom to take out an AHS warranty on her house, which is next door but a different address. She’s older and cannot deal with something going wrong so I had her address put in my name. At that time I took the warranty out, AHS was gonna give me about $6 a month break on the premium. The premium was supposed to be cheaper on her policy than at my personal house, but I'm getting charged the same amount no matter which location it was.
I’d rather submit claims on the phone because it takes less time sometimes, except when I get somebody from India. You can’t understand them. But sometimes, you get an American operator and I much prefer someone that I can understand when I'm talking to them. The contractor got the problem on my washing machine fixed. He had to troubleshoot it, get the part in and reprogram the machine. Everything turned out okay.

When I first had to use American Home Shield, they came out in record time, fixed it, and my cost was 75 bucks. I thought, if that's the case, this takes the worry out of the property. I was ecstatic about what they did at my house and so I was totally concerned of our properties, and all of them has central air and heat, and I started putting them on one by one. I’ve got the vast majority of them on American Home Shield so I’ve been with them for a long time now. The only complaint that I’ve had is the people I've talked to there are not speaking English and speaking enough that I could understand it. That is very aggravating. When I keep trying to explain something is going on, they keep saying they didn’t understand. Then I had to say, “I’m sorry, I can’t understand you.”
Recently, the air conditioner was balling up with ice around the coil in one of our properties. The compressor outside quit working then it would thaw out, and then it would come back on, and then it just started getting hot in there. I called American Home Shield and told them what I had. They did some paperwork then they said that they’ll be sending out Fahrenheit Solutions, and this company had done work for me before.
Times before, they’ve told me that it would be within 24 hours that I should be contacted, and then I could discuss when the company could be here. And so, I called Fahrenheit Solutions and told them what the problem was, and that I’d already called American Home Shield. Fahrenheit Solutions came out and fixed it and left. It started acting up again and then they came back. It worked really well for about two to three weeks and then it started freezing up again. The guy told me on the phone that it was low on Freon so he came out and worked on it, and everything’s been fine since then.

I don’t have a problem with small businesses doing work, but when it is something major, I don’t think a small business should take on that kind of job because those guys are not even in business anymore. So, I was concerned about it. American Home Shield took their word for it as to how much they would pay to put in a unit. American Home Shield would give the unit, but the customer had to pay to bring it up to date, code-wise. And so, the house was 3,700 square feet and the guy told them they could put a unit in for $1,200. American Home Shield knew that was impossible.
And then the guy came afterwards, American Home Shield agreed to allow them to do it with the no-name unit, some company I never heard of. So, I wasn’t happy with that. So, I told American Home Shield. The guy came behind the company, and he wanted me to pay him an additional $2,500 to bring it up to code, which would have cost three grand anyway. But AHS told me they couldn’t send me to another company because they already had an agreement with that company, and they said that they could do it for 1,200. But because I didn’t want the unit that they offered, I needed to buy the contract out.
And so, American Home Shield wrote me a check for $1,200. I had to get a reputable company to put a Trane unit in that house. It costed me over $3,300. So, I left American Home Shield for a number of years and then I came back to them when I sold that house. I don’t know if they still do business like that, but that put a bad taste in my mouth. If it was like a refrigerator breaking down or the dishwasher, I would be okay with that. But a big unit that would heat and cool a big house like that with a full basement, I did not like that.
I also don't like the paying the money up front. Before, you would not have to pay the money until the service was done. And the way that they are doing it now, if you are unhappy, then what happens? Are they gonna give you your fee back? It's like me paying up front for a meal I haven’t eaten. I only call them for my air and I always ask for Wilson. They send Wilson because if Wilson says they are coming at a certain time, they are here. They don’t try to come in your house, and if they do come in, they always cover their shoes. The electrician who came was very professional. He was a small business person as well.

The tech from Del’s Appliance came out and figured out what was wrong, ordered the parts, and came back out, and put them on. It was excellent. Every contractor that I’ve had come out, they come out and figure out what’s wrong. And if they can fix it, they fix it. If not, they order the parts and come back out. However I hope AHS lowers the rates for the service fee though they stayed the same for the past couple of years. Other than that I’ve had my microwave replaced so I don’t have any problems with them.

Every time I used American Home Shield, they had been perfect with me. When I made a service request for an AC issue, they had A-US Air Conditioning of Texas come out and the experience was very good. The tech was very professional and knew what to look for. He was able to fix the problem pretty quickly. American Home Shield also sent somebody out when my refrigerator freezer broke down. It was the compressor.
That kind of refrigerator freezer with the compressor could no longer be built so, American Home Shield told me what my ceiling would be to buy a new refrigerator because I would have to buy a new one. They sent me a link of where I could find refrigerators under AHS. They also said I had options to go outside if I wanted to. If I were to go over my ceiling though, it would be out of my pocket. But anything under the ceiling, they would take care of and they did. I sent the paperwork in and in a matter of less than two weeks, I had my check.

To get somebody out here would cost a minimum of $75 and, usually, that covers a little bit of the maintenance that needs to keep things going. I have an issue with the brick, which wasn't covered but that's a contractor issue. I also had one electrician that I had to cover because there was an issue with the original electric and we had to wire our light. But otherwise, everything has basically been covered by AHS so far. We've had contractors for the washing machine, dishwasher, and refrigerator. The last one that we've had, Joe Cool Air Conditioning, was for the AC. The tech did good. The contractor came out and assessed that it was the compressor and said I had to call Samsung. So I did and arranged it. Then they sent their guy out and he checked it out and he said they gotta do an exchange and that it was gone. But it’s been one month and I do not have a refrigerator. I've made a few claims with them and 75% of the time, I was 100% satisfied with it. There was a couple of claims that I disagreed with. They gave me the rationale, and so I had accepted. And then, one other time, the people that came out said there wasn't anything wrong, but it's still making a noise. But that wasn't really American Shield, it was the people that they had come out to do the repair. The response time of AHS seems to be pretty quick. Sometimes, the response of the technicians, their timeframe seems to be a little longer. But when you have a problem, you want it fixed. Air Pro Master was good. They were there when they said they would. It still leaked that same day, so I called them back. But the next day, the tech said it was fine. The thing is, once you close the ceiling up, if it starts dripping again, “Oh, no. Here I’m in the same boat again. Who is fixing what?” So, right now, the workmanship that they did is fairly good. The tech said, “Well, it could’ve leaked just a little bit.” But he ran the water and everything.
There are certain things Home Shield is okay about. I had a claim that was in the refrigerator, the person that came out said it was because of overloading. That’s completely not true and they denied the claim. And I still had to pay the money. So, Home Shield listens to the subcontractor that comes out. To me, it wasn’t overloaded and it’s just been used. I can understand if it was completely beat up. You’re walking into a home and it’s not beat and it’s being used. So, that should’ve been taken care of by the subcontractor. But maybe he couldn’t get it, or the part was too expensive, or he just didn’t want to deal with it, so the first thing he said was misused or overloaded.

Eventually, my claim ended up fine but the first time the technician from 2 Bald Guys came out, he stood there, put a water glass in each corner of my top rack and ran part of the cycle. Then he said it wasn’t getting a lot of water up there. He said we would need a new water pump. He didn't get down, look at the filter or the garbage disposal. He didn't do anything. Then he came back with the part, got down on the floor and said he couldn’t get the thing up and out. He said that the hardwood was right there in front of it. He kept going on and on about how they couldn’t assume the liability of messing up my floor because he couldn't get the dishwasher out. He said we would have to call a carpenter to get the thing out. We had just moved into this house so I didn't know all of this stuff. I said okay.
But afterwards, I had an electrician and his brother here. I asked if they could take a look and see what was going on with this dishwasher. I told them about how the guy was here and they did it in a minute. So I called him 2 Bald Guys and by then, I was a little bit ticked off. I told them that the technician needs to come back. I said that I just had somebody else here doing something else and they got the dishwasher out in about a minute. I told 2 Bald Guys how they did it and the rep said, "I totally understand why he didn't assume." It’s like he was not even listening to me. Then he said the first that they could get me in was the next Wednesday. It was Thursday then. I was told this was a 10-minute job and this wasn't my fault. But he said they were booked solid and that that was the best they could do. I was boiling. I said fine, that I would see him next Wednesday.
So then the guy came back and he said, "Wow, how'd they get it out?” Maybe I'm overreacting but it seemed like a big joke to me. Isn’t that kind of elementary? He had to come back one more time because my top dishes weren't getting cleaned. That particular time, I had done something wrong. I had loaded something in the silverware basket that was too high and it was restricting the flow. So okay, that one was my fault. The guy was nice and when he came back, I felt bad. I said that was so stupid. I just totally missed that. But the other thing was just illiterate. Getting the darn dishwasher out didn't make any sense to me. This company is like 50 miles away too. I asked him how they got associated with the company and he said they just applied.

Previous to that, I had a garage door opener that was replaced, and about 90 days afterwards, it quit working. And then the contractor didn’t hook up a wire properly, so it came up. A plumber came out and explained that I had an electrical issue so American Home Shield sent out them a contractor. My experience with American Home Shield wasn’t the best. I've been having issues with the water heater and the one tech contractor that they had come out was making excuses and not following through so the ball continued to roll. AHS would say they would call him then they would tell me to call back the next day. I would and they would once again say they would call the contractor and leave a voicemail. He should get back to me in 24 hours. I would then have to call back the next day. They kinda dragged it along until I called the contractor and told him that if he could not fix the issue, he should tell the home warranty so they could send out someone else. He did that finally and that was when somebody else came out and actually diagnosed the problem.
Whenever a contractor comes out to your home at least twice and the issue is still not solved, AHS should just find another contractor that could go to the home to see what exactly is going on versus constantly reaching out to somebody. They should figure out what it is that the contractor can do or cannot do. If he can’t do the job, send another person out to the home. On our end, we still have to sit here and wait and wait.

AHS had resolved the issues I had years ago. Then a couple of weeks ago, I called them because someone called me and said that because of the plumbing issue, my account was in collection. That didn’t make sense to me. The lady was very unprofessional and nasty. I also heard a baby in the background. In light of everything, people are all working from home. But something seemed really bizarre about that, especially since AHS changed their payment procedures. They didn't know the date of the service or anything, and they were asking other questions.
There were several questions that I asked the lady that she could not communicate to us. She said that she was gonna document and let the leadership know. I told her that a prerequisite for Home Shield to have service was that we should pay ahead of time and the claim would be taken care of. In other words, it’s no money or no transaction between the vendor and us. That was one of my three flags about whoever called. So when I asked the question about that, she abruptly hung up. My concern was that person that called me fraudulently had my personal information. I immediately addressed it with Home Shield.

There have been a couple of times where the quality of the contractors that AHS sent out could have been improved on. I understand it’s big business, so you can’t get the top dollar. But I've dealt with some time issues like showing up on time or cancelling and coming at a later time. But I've been with AHS for about eight years now and I’m not gonna complain because they have saved my rear a number of times. And for my latest claim, the folks who came out were really good.

I had a clogged toilet and I submitted the claim online to American Home Shield. The website was straightforward and user-friendly. It said I would receive a call but the order was put in. Then, I got a text and the contractor got in touch with me fairly soon to say they were coming. It was timely. The technician was good, friendly and respectful. Because of the clogged toilet, there was a leak, so I've got mitigation people here now. I haven't been able to use that bathroom so, I can't say 100% that it's solved but I believe it is.

When I first joined Home Shield, there was no website where I could order. I had to sit on the phone and wait forever to get in, which was a pain. But they fixed that. Also, they had a contractor for a while that kept getting sourced to me who was a total idiot. He supposedly could do everything and they use him over and over again for everything I put in. He would come out and I would have to pay him the service fee, that was back when I had to pay the person showing up a $75 fee instead of giving it to Home Shield. And he would take that fee and fix nothing. I reported it.
There were friends of mine who had American Home Shield that tried to report it. He was a fraud and they kept him on their books for years. The feedback never gets to Home Shield. I left messages and I called. I said I don't want him and they would still send him out. Finally, I just started refusing him. Home Shield doesn't have a better way to provide feedback for the service provider.
But Optimum Appliance has fixed my refrigerator probably six times now and the tech always does a great job. I have a 25-year old Sub-Zero that would cost close to 25 grand to replace. They don't even make Sub-Zeroes like that anymore. I'm not gonna replace it because little things break on it. If it completely clunks out, then I'll do the American Home Shield thing. He's the only one that knows how to work on my Sub-Zero so if Home Shield could have a request page where we can get the service provider that has worked of us in the past as long as they work for Home Shield.

Some expenses like replacing an air conditioning can be very expensive and I would rather have a home warranty that I only have to pay a 100 bucks for if I have to do a full air conditioning replacement or something else. I looked online to see what reviews there were, and I also checked what their coverage was as well as what their rates were. This is my second year with American Home Shield. Recently, my air conditioner was taking too long to cool. I called American Home Shield and put in a claim.
The initial response was that I would hear something within 24 hours and they sent me an email letting me know when the contractor was coming out. They then dispatched A1 Mitchell and they were outstanding and courteous. They came out the next day and they fixed the air conditioner. Now, it works great. They also explained everything, took their time and didn’t try to replace stuff that didn’t need to be replaced. I would highly recommend them.

By and large, I'm very happy with AHS and I will renew with them again. My son hates them but I like them. Since I've been in this house, I've had three different companies, like Sears and Choice, before I had AHS, but none of them could provide anybody in as timely a manner as American Home Shield does. They also didn’t cover as many things as American Home Shield does. The fact that American Home Shield covers all of my electronics and stuff is great, too.
One time, I had a claim for my television. As soon as the warranty on it ran out, I lost the backlighting to it. I called AHS and they replaced it without even a blink. I explained to them what was going on then they sent an electrician out and it took a little over a week. I also called AHS to submit a claim recently and I gave their rep a complete list of everything I was having a problem with. I told him that my garage door opener had no power to it, the lights on my ceiling fan as well as the light in the bathroom were strobing, and I had outlets in several places that didn't work.
Initially, AHS sent out a garage door repairman. But I didn't need a garage door person, I needed an electrician. He also said that my problem had nothing to do with my garage door opener. Plus, the garage door opener is new so I knew it wasn't a problem with that. I called back again and told the AHS rep about my issues. Then they sent out an electrician and he was amazing. He was very good and he helped us find where the GFI outlet was which gave power back to the outlets that were down and my garage door opener. He fixed the ceiling fan as well and suggested that there was a short.
He also pointed out to me that I have a Hunter fan, which was in the house when we bought it. He said that it comes with a lifetime warranty and that we didn't have to call them when we have a problem. He said that we could get it fixed by anybody and Hunter would either fix or replace it. We just needed the number off of it but unfortunately, I'm not allowed to take a picture of it up here. My husband's 6'3" though and I need to get on a ladder so he can get the number off of it for me if I need it in the future. But the tech said that he couldn't fix the light in the bathroom because it was not on his list. Apparently, they never included the strobing light in the master bathroom in my list of problems. So when I'm taking a shower, I start out with light then it'll go dark and it'll start strobing. It's like a disco in my bathroom and now, if I want them to come out and fix it, it's gonna cost me another $100.
We would love to speak with you regarding this matter. It is not our intent to cause an inconvenience. We would love to take care of this for you.

This is the first time we had used the American Home Shield warranty. Submitting the claim was awesome. It was smooth as silk. Appliance Doctors of Central Texas came out really quickly, which was very nice because it was a washing machine issue and we use that fairly regularly. The tech diagnosed what was wrong, and they said that they would be back to fix it. They did and he was on-time. He fixed it and it’s running beautifully. The whole thing happened in less than a week.
My sister had recommended that I get AHS. In the 70s I was a licensed Realtor. In order to sell older properties, I used to have the seller buy one of their policies for the people who were purchasing their home. And so, I had information about them for years and years, but I had forgotten about it until my sister said something. I remembered and was real pleased to be able to go back and work with American Home Shield. I don't have to try and find people who could fix the issue, and I don't have to pay them. I pay AHS. Since we’re all staying home, I told all of my quilting friends that I recommend AHS highly. One of my friends already signed up with them in April. I’ve got a couple more that are thinking about it.

We had a problem with the faucet in one of our bathrooms. It was hard to turn on and then it made the pipes go, "mum, mum, mum." But it seems to be working fine now. Whatever the plumber did seemed to have done the trick. So we're satisfied with it. The claim process is pretty straightforward and easy as well. You just go in and you have choices. One of the choices was faucet but I normally think of a faucet as a sink faucet. This is a faucet in a shower so that's the one that was chosen. I've also had experiences with other plumbers here from American Home Shield that I was not at all satisfied with. But I was very satisfied with this guy from Gregory Rossi Plumbing & Heating.
The plumber didn't take that long to evaluate. He said if the whole thing had to be replaced, it could only be replaced with silver. It has a gold fixture. But then he said he’d check if they had a part and when he came back, he said they did. He did his job and came back fairly quickly. He was also very polite and although this was at the beginning of the Coronavirus thing and things hadn't gotten to this level yet, he was very careful about distancing.

They sent out A-US Air Condition of Texas to do some AC repair. It was about three days when somebody came. Because of COVID-19, everybody is more cautious. I wish it was sooner but we live in some pretty crazy times right now. The work done was good and they solved our problem. That’s definitely a plus. It’s starting to get warm, but these few days, it’s been cooling down again. I’m pretty sure that once it’s summer, we’re gonna have hot days so it’s good to get this thing taken care of right now. Overall, they abided by the contractual agreements and they responded fairly quickly.

Sears came out here twice. The microwave needed to be replaced and the oven heats up but doesn’t stay warm. The guy was super nice and very informative. He was here for quite a while trying to get the oven to work. He waited long enough for the oven to get hot, then he noticed how it wasn’t staying at the temperature. He sat on hold with American Home Shield for well over 20 minutes and said the protocol is they have to email AHS if they wait for too long on the phone. I called back to see what’s happening with the oven and AHS just set up another appointment with Sears on Tuesday. I thought Tuesday was the day the microwave is gonna be installed, but that’s not the case. They’re sending the same guy back out to check something that he already knows does not work.
The microwave that they sent me is all fine and dandy but it’s in the garage. There is no point in it to follow up. I’ve called AHS to see who’s gonna come out here, and the representative could not answer my question. I was going around in circles over and over again. My husband just had a heart attack, so the last thing I’m gonna do is sit on the phone for hours with American Home Shield.
I don’t know what else to do at this point. Now I have a microwave and an oven in my kitchen that don’t work. I’m so confused as to how AHS does business. I run my own business as well and I could never work like this. I don’t understand how nobody knows anything. It’s so frustrating on every level. I'm a real estate agent and I’ve referred American Home Shield many times in my company. But I am not happy with them at all and I will never give their service to any of my clients ever again.

I've had a lot of ups and downs, but things are better now because now, when I call in, I usually get somebody right away. Last year, if I had questions, I couldn't talk to a real person without a long wait on line, and I was very distressed by that. Also, I have two contracts with American Home Shield. One is for my son who lives across the street from me, and one is for my own house. They come due within 15 days of each other and I normally pay both. I just send them a check or put it on my credit card, but they've been calling me a month before they were due to be renewed. They said that if I renewed on the phone, they would give me a discount for the year, so I did that, but they got them mixed up.
When I got the phone call, I said I didn't want to pay both on my credit card at the same time. I told them that I would I pay the one for my own house in full then I would put one payment on the other one and pay the balance the next month. When the next ones came, I called them and I authorized paying the balance, but it was never charged to my credit card. Instead of paying $500 and something on the credit card, they charged me $1.99 then I got something that said one contract was in danger of being canceled because it wasn't paid. I told them that I paid the first one when they called me and that when the second one called me, I paid one payment then I paid the balance the next month.
The balance never got charged though. I just saw American Home Shield checked it off and I didn't notice it was only $1.99. I then started getting $51 and something taken out of my account. I thought they were charging me twice, so I had to go back and drag out my papers and look to see. That's when I found that instead of charging me $500 and something, they charged me $1.99 on the credit card. Also, I was making payments, and it was on the wrong house. I was very upset and I was not sure I was ever going to renew because it was a pain in the neck.
I also hate, hate, hate to make phone calls, but I hate even more to do anything online, so calling is my option when I need something. Not being able to talk to somebody without a half an hour or 45-minute wait is very distressing if you have a question that you want answered. If you just want a service call, fine. They do that in a hurry now, and they have the people call you, and then you call and make the appointment. American Home Shield has my number because my son doesn't answer his phone unless he knows who's calling and when I do something for his house, I call and make the arrangements. I then have to talk to somebody because I have to tell them to have the contractor call another number and not my number because it's for my son's house. I tell them that I don't know when he's available, so he has to make the appointment.
All in all, there are good things about American Home Shield, and there are horrible things about it. I've had two visits in the last two months, and they've both been excellent without any problems at all. I've been very happy with them. When I called the company, I got the automatic prompt and they said that within 24 hours, I would be contacted. The plumbing company got me the same day. They were very prompt. The guy came and worked on two different things. He fixed a hose bib and another one where I couldn't get a hose off a fixture. I was very happy.

But then repairs always take a longer time than I thought they would be. Contractors get a part and they come back. But because they need to submit the request to American Home Shield and they need to approve it then get back to the contractors, it takes so long.
I saw the contractor last Thursday, the 30th. Today is almost a week later and I haven't heard from them yet. I’m about to get the next repair and it takes me another week to wait. I've already been living with a broken appliance for like a couple of weeks. Overall, the repairman and woman come and they do their job well. Filed my claim on March 12 or 13th 2020 to repair my refrigerator and ice maker. The serviceman came on April 6, 2020. Said he repaired my ice maker. It did not work neither did the refrigerator. He came back on April 13, 2020 and stated he had put the same ice maker back in and not the new one. The new ice maker, he claimed, did not work either plus my refrigerator stopped working. Called the service provider Appliance pro service, inc. on April 16th,17th, 18th and 20th. No answer and no return call. Called AHS on April 23, agent could not reach them. Agent sent an email. No response. Called AHS on April 25, after a long conversation it was decided that I had to pay an additional $75.00 to have my refrigerator repaired and the ice maker. Very poor service on both ends.

My air conditioner wasn’t producing any cold air. We called Home Shield and they said Beaches would call me. Then, I got a text that Beaches would call and they were gonna set up an appointment time. They called me back and I paid Home Shield $75. Beaches replaced a part and they left the part there that they replaced. The unit needed Freon as well. I had to pay them another $80 and I called Home Shield to ask why I had to pay twice. They said that they would look into it and call me back, but they thought that maybe it was for the Freon. But we needed a pound of Freon and I think Home Shield covers a pound of Freon.

ASAP Appliance Repair came out for our recent claim regarding our appliance issue and they did a great job. The contractor was very good and very knowledgeable. And he did it twice because first, it did not work. He re-ordered and then he came the second time, he installed and now the refrigerator is working. I am very glad that I have American Home Shield. Everything was perfect.

About a day after making a service request with American Home Shield, 911 Locksmith was sent out to check the electrical wiring in the new place that I bought. I'm good with the work the tech had done. I'm hiring him back to do some work that isn't covered under my warranty.

Someone suggested AHS to me and I called and set it up. If I’m calling to sign up, they should give more details on the coverage. I have an older AC and when the guy looked at it, he said that he doubted AHS would even do anything with it because it was so old. I need to check and get in detail of what AHS covers. Other than that, the service has been okay so far.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

We submitted a claim online and American Home Shield's website was user-friendly. In two days, RG Plumbing & Rooter, one of AHS's contractors, came out to do service. The tech fixed the leaks I had and all the concerns that I had with my plumbing. Since they were out, things have been functioning fine.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for probably 38 years and they used to be a lot better than they are. The only problem I have now is that they're hiring bad, incompetent people who don't understand what you're talking about even though they're speaking English. Also, they don't listen. I had to make three different phone calls before I got through to place my work order for the garbage disposal. The second service was excellent and the plumber was very professional. He had his mask on, he stayed there and I stayed way away from him. In no time, he discovered what the problem was. He thoroughly checked out the disposal and made sure it wasn't leaking and that it was operating. He said to call him if anything happens.
In the same call, I tried to do appliances. I was gonna cancel a contract and the rep put me through all kinds of stuff. I was totally disgusted and that was not the first time. I got called and I told them to call the tenant. I gave them the number and they assured me that it was in there. It wasn’t. I'm busy, I'm working, and then I gotta tell them to call. They don't even have the number so I have to get the number and call them back and give them the correct number. For the most part, the call center representatives are the pits but you do get some good ones.
I had to make three different phone calls and had to wait over half an hour every time that I was trying to get through. The first and second reps didn't do it and the third one was an American lady. She spoke perfect English, listened to everything I said and I didn't have to repeat anything. That's what I'm used to. They need to hire some people who can speak good English, who are gonna listen to you even if they do speak English, and somebody who's gonna put in the order and make sure it's absolutely correct.
This has been going on for several years now and the last couple of years, it seemed like it's been really bad. American Home Shield has an account executive in a certain area of Florida and she also did our stuff up in Virginia with me. I would call her and in a heartbeat, she could get it resolved. The call center people got to get the work order accurate. I called in for a refrigerator and they put down a stove or a dishwasher. They ask you all kinds of ridiculous questions. Whoever assigns these people needs to train them. This was a major inconvenience trying to get that contract canceled and get that straight. Those were four calls because I had to call the cancellation people because the representatives didn't get it straight. But other than that, the contractors are very good.
I had the appliance service repairman from All Brands. I've been dealing with him for years and they are good too, except that sometimes, they can't get out to you for a week or more. They need to hire contractors who don't accept calls if they can't handle in a week or 10 days. That's bad for All Brands. I ended up calling to get somebody else, which was an inconvenience. The guy who came fixed the ice maker and the dishwasher, and everything was good. But he didn't have on a mask, which kinda bothered me so I stood away from him with my mask.
I have dealt with Air Pro Air Conditioning for 16 years and they are fantastic. They are over the top and I wouldn't have anybody else. They do my kids' properties. They got rentals too and they do those and their homes. They are dependable and they do a good job. Once they come out, you don't have any problems. All Hours Emergency is good too. This man came out Monday. He was outstanding, very professional and he did a very thorough job. I've got three properties and I had all these contracts. I had a townhouse in Ocean City, Maryland, and I had my home in Fairfax, Virginia. Up there, you don't have that many people who are good at trade and you have a lot of people who don't speak English. So, they're not as good as the people here in Florida. Maryland is a resort area and most people who are working there live there year-round and they are not tourists, so they are good too.
I hate every time I have to make a call but I've got to do it because I'm not gonna be trying to do online stuff. I don't bother with that. I wanna make sure somebody understands exactly what I need and what's going on. I can make sure that they got the name, they got the problem and if they got the right part. I would text the tenant and tell them the name of the company, give them the phone number and tell them that they can wait for them to call to make an appointment. Or they could call the company and get the appointment made earlier. A lot of them will and a lot of them just wait.
I do some property manager too part-time, especially for family and friends here in Florida, and I've always recommended American Home Shield. I'm a real estate broker for the last 15 years in Jacksonville. American Home Shield do have some bad contractors and I've been through that before too. When you get a bad contractor and you want a second opinion, depending on who you get on the phone in the call center, they would say that they don't do second opinions. I tell them that I know I can get a second opinion. I also know that if the diagnosis comes back the same, I have to pay the additional deductible fee but if not, then I get to find out exactly what's going on.
I found two crooked ones and reported them. I went through hell trying to get done. That was about 10 years ago but that was really bad. I haven't had to go through that anymore. Just recently, I had a second opinion issue, and I didn't have any problem at all. So, that was good. But overall, I always. When I was up in Virginia, I had at first, Residential, on that property because the woman who was managing it for me said that they got a good deal. Now, I know why, they were absolutely lousy. They will argue with you about this or that, even after the salesman came out and said that the air conditioning had to be replaced. They were gonna fix it. After dealing with them, I know American Home Shield is not perfect but they're the best out there.

American Home Shield has done well as prescribed. They fix our appliances or whatever breaks and we pay them 75 bucks and that’s pretty much it. With contractors, over the years you get a few stinkers. We have them back again and sometimes we've asked for a different one. We've figured out how to make it work for us.
I noticed one thing, and it's not just American Home Shield. AAA does this, too. We live in Austin, Texas, and they send contractors from far away here, not as bad as AAA though. For example, we'll frequently get the first callback from a guy from 35 to 40 miles away instead of choosing a local Austin company. When we call, we request the specific Austin company that has done a good job for us. Instead of just taking a random someone from far away, we say, “We would prefer this contractor.” However, sometimes the contractors aren’t with them anymore.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

Sometimes, AHS's service reps are very friendly and the last one was. The one prior to that wasn’t. She was combative with me. I reminded her that I pay her salary and that I’ve been an AHS customer for some time. AHS has one company out of Louisville, Kentucky, which was 70 miles away from where I live. That company came up on a Friday and said that they had fixed the unit. At the time, it appeared that they did. But Friday afternoon, I had problems with the system again. I called them back on a Friday afternoon, expecting that they would send somebody back on Saturday at a minimum, but they told me it would be Monday. This was in the dead of summer. We were in a two-story house in a 90-degree temp with no air conditioning for a total of three days.
When I place a service call, typically, they want me to do everything online, and that’s fine. But I feel there should be a place on that electronic form where I can say, “Don’t send that company from Louisville, Kentucky.” Every time I call AHS for an HVAC issue, they will automatically send the Louisville company and I end up spending anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes on the phone to say, “I told you guys not to send me this company.” I've told them repeatedly that I don’t want those people in my house again. But for some reason, they don’t seem to be able to track that. It also doesn’t make sense for them to send somebody who is 70 miles away when they have other service providers that are in the immediate area.
But generally, I'm very satisfied with AHS. When I had an issue with the air conditioning unit, which was not cooling, someone was scheduled to come out either on the same day or the next day after filing the claim. The technician was very friendly, professional, and did a good job. He observed the CDC’s standards for coronavirus.

I've been paying for my home warranty service for more than a year. I used it for the first time and they sent out IGD Plumbing. It was a pretty positive experience. The person came on time and kind of went through the COVID practices. He was wearing a mask. He just explained what he was gonna do then checked the equipment. He found that it was rusted so he went out then I requested for a new equipment. He installed it and was done in half an hour. He was very specific to the task. When I was asking a couple of questions, he was a little reluctant to answer but I understood.

The first person that American Home Shield sent out told me that the motor that he put in was too big. It had my unit shaking and he said he would be coming back. I asked him twice if he was gonna report it to Total Air and he said yes. So, when Total Air called me for a survey, I said I was not gonna do it when I got this problem going on. I told AHS about the problem so they sent this dude right here out this morning. He said that the reason why the unit was shaking was because somebody didn’t put the screws back in the top of the unit. He said that he couldn’t talk about his employer like that. So, he put some screws in. He revved the motor and he said that the motor was not too big. One person was saying one thing and one person was saying another. So, I told them to forget it. My house is cool and I shouldn't even worry about it. But if anything goes wrong, I’d be calling them back again.
It’s frustrating dealing with these people when the rep could have came out the first time and did the job right. Then I wouldn’t have this problem. The unit is still shaking and it has never done that since I’ve lived here. It just started doing that when this man put this new motor in. But the house is cool and I’m happy with that. I’m just not happy with the unit shaking like that. It’s an old unit anyway so, maybe it'll shake apart and then, AHS has to replace the whole thing. But that would be their fault.
I’ve been with them since February. A girlfriend of mine has it as well as my son-in-law. They were telling me that I needed to get it. So, I thought about it and got it. This was my first claim with AHS and hopefully, it would be my last. I'm not unsatisfied with them but with the people that they sent out, the things that they were telling me and the things that they were doing. AHS did find someone and sent them out. I didn’t have to wait four days. They just jumped on it right then. I told a friend about AHS and she wants the phone number because she said she needs to get it.

I had a claim for the refrigerator and Appliance Equation came out in less than 24 hours. Home Shield's phone service is horrible and submitting claims online is better. I've been with them for less than a year. I don’t know that we will renew with them or we renew with someone else. You can’t get ahold of them on the phone and when you do, I can't understand their customer service people. They have very, very strong accents and are also very unhelpful. Every time I’ve ever had to have a phone conversation, I’m screaming at the end of it because I can’t understand the people and they don’t care. The one time I got ahold of someone, I called straight back to the number that does the approval and the rep was so nice. She was so amazing. But the general customer care number that they send you to is awful and they don’t care.
They don’t resolve issues. I tried to call them multiple times because I wanted to see if there was someone else that we could use. And they don’t regulate prices. We called an air conditioning claim before the refrigerator, but it got fixed a week later because the company they used charged us $125 for Freon. The other companies they contract with charge $95 a pound. That’s a $30 per pound difference and when you need seven pounds, that is a big difference. That is $200 for me because they only cover $10.
I called them several times and advised them that their air conditioning company came out on a Monday but they did not put in the work order with American Home until Thursday. I live in Arizona. The temperature was above 100 every day that week and they left me without AC and did not care. And if they’re gonna contract with agencies, those agencies should all charge the same amount for Freon. We paid a whole heck of a lot more money. And the guy that came out did not know what he was doing. They had to send a different technician out because he didn’t put in the work order. He just let us sit for four days with no AC.
They had to send a second guy out and the guy had the audacity to tell me whoever we had out last time wired our capacitor backwards. Their guy that was sent out on Monday was the last person that touched that capacitor. Like they were trying to put it on whoever we had serviced the AC. That was interesting. But the unit is working again. Home Shield also sent someone out for our pool pump. The company had an extremely bad reputation. It was raining and the tech walked in the backyard. He said the pump was getting rainwater on it that’s why it was damaged. We had someone else come out and they said the pump motor was blown.

Usually once I file a claim, a contractor will call me the next day and they have all been good. When my AC was broken, Advanced Home Services came in. The first time they came, they couldn’t fix it because it was so frozen. They wanted to come back and check to make sure there was no underlying issues and it’s fixed now.

I kinda thought that if I had the home warranty and if I had a service call, it'd just be $75. But no. I had to pay extra out of my pocket for different things, such as Freon. They said my system had a leak and they put filler in it. They said they would have to do another service call, so I had to pay another $75 and then I had to go without air for a week until they could get back. I said I was gonna be out of money. So they said that they could put some Freon in it and put some sealer on it and they would only charge for the Freon. I was out $240 there plus the $75. I called an air conditioner guy that we knew before we had this home insurance and he said he coulda came out and did that for less than $200 worth. So it made me feel like I was spending too much money on this.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.
