The sump pump had gone out and water had overflown into the basement. I submitted my claim to American Home Shield online. I appreciate the contractor who came. He was amazing. However, I waited for over a week with water in my basement for a contractor to evaluate my claim before American Home Shield would approve anything and replace the pump. I had to take off work for three days to bail water out of my basement to prevent additional damage. I wish they’d streamline their process once the claim has been verified. The issue could have been taken cared of on the spot instead of having to wait for another visit.

The technicians sent by American Home Shield have been pretty good. The plumber from Aaron Plumbing was exceptional. Though he wasn’t able to fix the plumbing issue on the dishwasher, he fixed the washing machine. Phil, the technician from P & D, was a good one. He ordered parts for the refrigerator. At the moment, he is waiting for me to completely defrost it so he can begin his work.

I’ve had American Home Shield for about 5 years now. I was with them for four years at one property, moved to another one, and took a year off. AHS is much better than the other company I was with and I have recommended them to others several times.

My most recent claim was for my dryer that was making noise. The contractor was very friendly and respectful. He put little booties on over his shoes asked me where to go. I sent him on his way and then when he was finished, he explained exactly what happened and what he did to fix it. It’s been working perfectly ever since.

Our weather here in Nebraska is up and down, so we’ve been running the heat. We had a hot spell where it was getting up into the 90s. We turned on the air conditioning and nothing happened. But two weeks before that, it had worked just fine. We called American Home Shield and they sent out a guy. But it took them nine days before they could get someone here because everybody else in Omaha was probably also having problems with the air conditioners. The guy was here for about three hours testing, checking yet he was unable to fix it. It could be some bad wiring between the thermostat and the furnace but the guy just didn’t know. He was a young tech and hadn’t had a lot of experience with this kind of stuff.

So we got ahold of Elite Heating and Air Conditioning who’s been here a few times before for a second opinion. It was again two weeks before they could get out here to look at it. Fortunately, the weather cooled off enough we weren’t dying in here. Their rep was here for about an hour and had it fixed. It turns out that the contacts on the box in the actual air conditioning unit outside had shattered. He had to replace that and in testing, he discovered that our smart home thermostat was shorted out. It was working for the heat, but it wouldn’t work for the AC. So we had to replace that as well. All in all, it took three weeks to get it fixed which is not typical. Because usually, they’re here within a day or two, and always been able to resolve the issue.

We’ve had American Home Shield close to 20 years now. We’ve had a number of things fixed and they’ve been very good. There were no issues nor surprises. They’ve always paid and covered a lot of stuff. We’ve told a couple of friends about them.

American Home Shield insurance is good. I recommended my sister-in-law and she’s in the system now. The problem is the technicians that they send at home, sometimes they don't know what to do. I don't know if they even have a license.

My AC had a problem, so I told AHS the pipe was leaking water. The first guy who showed up said he checked the system, and we need to put Freon because it was leaking. He said I have to pay out of the pocket. He confirmed that the pipe was fine. I paid $180 and they put two pounds of Freon. The next day, I turned the AC on, and it's still leaking. So, I called again. Another technician came and I explained that I still have the same issue. He checked the pipe and changed it. Now it’s fine.

Another request was for my bathroom. It was leaking water. I explained it to the guy who came out. He said it was fine but it was still leaking. I told him to change the water pump because it was leaking and he it’s fine but he’ll change it.

Last year they can’t find a technician to fix my bathroom so I had to pay one guy. He said if I give him $250 he can change the pump and I don’t have to pay the company. I asked why would I have to pay the company when I pay the insurance. Some of the plumbers were rude and asked why I kept calling. I told them that my bill is high because water is leaking. I called for another plumber. He came to my house for 80 bucks and he was able to fix my bathroom. I had to pay from my pocket.

I had them fix the stove like six months ago. They came to my house like five times to fix it. They ordered different parts. And they cost me a lot of time. I had to request time off from my job. I rather AHS send one good technician who knows what to do. They just send random people. They don't know what they are doing, kept ordering parts they don’t even need. The last person said it was just a simple issue. I don’t understand why they didn’t order that part in the beginning. It's really annoying.

The customer service, when they're answering here in the country, they're good. But when they answer from another country, I can't talk to them because they don't speak any English. I put in service requests last week and the rep did not put it in because she didn’t understand what I said. When I called AHS the next day, they said I don't have any service request from me.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for about 22 years. I had a couple of off-and-on periods, but overall, about 22 years. Their service has gotten worse, not better.

It's really difficult when I'm trying to speak to someone whom I can't understand. I have to ask them multiple times to repeat, or I can tell that what they're saying is scripted. So the fact that I’m struggling to speak with someone when I want to make a claim is very discouraging. Other than that, the customer service is fine. In the past, when I filed a claim, we did whatever it took and in two minutes we'd be done.

I recently filed a claim for my air conditioner and the technician was great. But the fact that the technician shared with me that the part was over $1,000 and American Home Shield wasn't going to cover all of it is very disappointing. Years ago, that would not have been an issue. I would not have to be without a refrigerator for a month, or any of these things. The fee keeps going up but the service keeps going down.

For this air conditioner issue, techs came and they couldn't find a problem. We need to put a return vent in that room and we're gonna be on our own. I had a leak and I thought it was the pipes. American Home Shield assigned it to somebody. The people that they assigned told me about a couple of days later that they were too booked and they couldn't do it. It took American Home Shield a while to find somebody else. A tech from HD Drain Pros came out and he told me it was not the pipes. It was the roof.

I called American Home Shield and said it was the roof. They swapped the claim over to Elite Roofing. Their guy came out on Monday and he was nice. He said that the glue stuff around the seal was broken. He would have to put sealant on the little things that are on the roof. He was gonna send American Home Shield the stuff and what needed to be done. They had to wait for them to approve it. Some stuff took a long time with American Home Shield. I couldn't use my bathroom for about two weeks.

That aside, I have had a great experience so far with American Home Shield. I started with them in January. My first claim was the septic tank. The second one is with the roof. It’s cheaper for me to pay for the people to come out and pay a monthly fee than for me to pay for an entire service. With American Home Shield, you can save money when it's time to fix something. It’s not all good, but it's not all bad either.

I go through American Home Shield online for claims and that’s very easy. They already have my address and I just give them a brief description of my issue. Somebody is assigned the job and they come out and do it. One claim we had was for our disposal. It was jammed when the contractor came out. Their tech stuck a screwdriver in it and unjammed it.

I like having somebody come out to fix a problem. They know what they're doing. If something can't be fixed, I'll be reimbursed a little bit to put in a new appliance such as a dishwasher, washing machine, or refrigerator. My coverage with American Home Shield is awesome. I just referred my son to them with their promotion where it was 50% off to sign up. That would last for a year and then it would go back to the regular price. They save a ton of money in the meantime.

Somebody came out and took a look at our air conditioner, and they decided to replace it. It took a little while to get the parts in, but we were pretty patient because we were lucky that the weather hadn't heated up just yet. We just turned the air conditioner off. Then they came out and fixed it. The technicians were fine. The one gal there kept me updated. American Home Shield didn't really call me and update me. But that was okay because I was still in the loop. The main thing was that the air conditioner ended up getting done. I’m very happy about that. We had to pay $750 out of pocket plus the $100 co-pay when I called in. All in all, I've been pretty satisfied with them.

The only issue that I had with American Home Shield was that the contractors gave me a window of 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that they would be here to repair our dryer. I called them at 4:00 p.m. to find out when they would be out, and they said that they were actually on the way and would be there within 20 minutes. But they never showed up. It got to be right around 5 p.m. I called their office again, to see what happened, and I got a voicemail that their office was now closed.

I called American Home Shield at 5:30 p.m. to tell them about what happened, and I was told that I can't cancel and seek another vendor until 24 hours are up because it was in the system for this company to come out and repair the dryer. I've never had that before. When I've had any issues with any vendor, they used to just give me a different vendor and run it through. But the rep said they can't do that, and they need to wait 24 hours before they can reschedule another vendor. I didn't have any choice but to wait. It got to be a little before 8 o'clock.

Then I got a call from the contractor telling me that they had a day where they were overbooked and couldn't get out of their window, but if I was still available, they would be out within half an hour to try to fix the dryer. I agreed, and they showed up and fixed the dryer. They were very courteous and did a really good job. So, I didn't have any issues. I called back American Home Shield and let them know that I don't need a follow-up or anything, that the dryer was repaired. It would've been nice to just get a brief phone call telling me that they're behind and they'll try to get out tonight.

I easily submitted a claim to American Home Shield through the mobile app. The plumber came, checked all three commodes, and said he fixed everything. But two of them started continuously leaking again. I reopened the ticket through the app. I got a call from that vendor and they're trying to reschedule. Until now, there is no new schedule. I feel that this plumber guy is not so supportive and friendly. If I tell something, he's not interested to listen as well. I'm not happy with him. On another request, the refrigerator technician was knowledgeable and excellent. I was happy with him.

Service-wise, American Home Shield has been very good, and the app itself has a lot of features. First, I did the video chat option. With their instructions, they tried to help us fix the issue. They were excellent. That is one advantage if I can fix it myself. If that is not possible with the video instructions, then they suggest opening a request. I have already referred two of my friends to American Home Shield. I told them that they provide good service.

I’ve been with AHS for a couple of years and I submitted a claim for my garage door opener, a minor issue where a screw driver for the garage door skipped out. That’s what he replaced, a couple of minor parts that probably cost around $7 max.

The guy who came was great and he did the job. The only problem I had was that it took about four or five days for them to complete the job. The delay was due to a small part, which in my opinion he should have had on hand. I’ve had the garage door worked on before and this is a minor part that usually isn’t a problem. That was inconvenient for several days because I didn't have a part.

He did a good job, and the service was good. He was knowledgeable about what he was doing. My only issue was the amount of time it took to complete the repair.

I submitted a plumbing claim online for one of my houses in Bedford, Texas. I’ve had several plumbing issues between two properties, including leaks at the hot water heater and under a bathroom sink.

When SWAT plumbing comes, they really do their best to work with you and the customer. It’s not easy trying to please both sides. I thought the plumber did fine, though I’m not sure there was much more he could do. In fact, one of the “leaks” wasn’t even a real leak. I had my house inspected, and all these inspectors kept saying “There’s a leak here, there’s a leak there.”

AHS has done something for me in the past, they replaced my entire refrigerator. Because of that, I continue to use them, even though everything else I’ve asked them to do feels like a fight to the finish. But yes, they helped me before.

My hot water heater was leaking all over my garage and just stopped working, so I called American Home Shield to have them assign someone to help. They actually assigned me to an electrical company by mistake first, but I called back and the representative said they're gonna assign me to somebody else.

Those people came out and did an assessment, and since the hot water heater was severely broken, they said I needed a new one. They called American Home Shield to tell them what was going on, and I called to find out how much I was gonna have to pay. I paid the fee and they replaced it. The contractors were very nice, and I don't have anything negative to say, except that they didn’t call ahead like I asked and showed up earlier than expected both times, so I had to rush home from work.

I’ve had American Home Shield for maybe seven years now. For me, it works out well because of the ease. I don’t have to search for anybody, and it creates a paper trail of when I have repair work done. They send out reliable, qualified professionals in a timely manner to get issues resolved.

I had a leak in my ceiling and the plumber had to fix it. But the plumber originally thought it was an air conditioning issue, so the warranty company called the air conditioning guys out. What happened was there was a pinhole in the tubing for the water, and it was shooting straight up to the roof ceiling from my ceiling. So when the plumber went up there, he didn't see that it was shooting up to the ceiling. He thought it was leaking from the ceiling and that it was the condensation line for the air conditioner. But it was never an air conditioning problem. The condensation line wasn't even close to where the leak was at. The air conditioning guy said, “Nope, it's a plumbing issue.” So I had to end up having the plumbers come back.

When I called the plumbers back, they said, “Well, we already closed our order, so we can't help you. You need to call back to the warranty company again, have a new order set up.” I called American Home Shield back again. The guy that I spoke to on the phone set up a new order but couldn't get anything through until somebody sent some report. Long story short, this was going on for three weeks.

But I've been with American Home Shield since 2016 and any time that I have contacted them and they have sent somebody out, they have worked with me and I appreciate that. When I spoke to the representative, it was good. They took all the information down and immediately got everything set up for me to have somebody come out the next day. It finally got fixed.

American Home Shield customer service is entirely foreign-based. Unfortunately, when I have entirely foreign-based customer service, the only thing that American Home Shield authorizes their customer service to do is follow a check sheet. There are protocols that those people are allowed to do and that's it. If the customer says, "I have a problem with X," this is the only available option to deal with that problem. And it is rarely the right one.

There is zero other available customer service avenue for those people. I get someone who is always very polite and calls me Mister Scott but never has the ability to handle my problem ever. In the past several years, the technicians have done well. But based on my most recent experience, it was very poor. I have had a series of repairs that took over two months and seven visits to my home to accomplish a simple task.

Caution Advised When Working with This Company. We’ve had multiple experiences with this company through our home warranty provider, American Home Shield (AHS), and feel compelled to share our concerns. First Visit – May 2024. A technician named Edith was dispatched to assess the A/C unit in our master bedroom. She diagnosed a coil leak. However, after requesting a second opinion through AHS, we were informed there was no leak. This discrepancy raised our initial concerns.

Second Visit – May to June 2025. Edith returned to inspect our upstairs unit and again reported a coil leak. This time, AHS declined to cover the full cost of the repair—not because of any confirmed requirement from our city, but because Service One claimed that permits and code upgrades were required. To verify this, we contacted the Town of Northlake’s Code Compliance Department and a compliance auditor. Both confirmed that no permit was required for the work as described. When we followed up with Service One, a representative named Bobbie initially said they always pull permits, and later claimed their “permit lady” had confirmed a permit was necessary.

We then learned that Service One misrepresented the scope of the repair to the city—telling them the entire A/C air handler was being replaced, which would require a permit. In reality, that was not the case. This misrepresentation caused AHS to deny full coverage based on incorrect information provided by Service One, not on actual city requirements.

As a result, Service One presented us with an extremely high out-of-pocket repair quote, pricing the job in a way that appeared to pressure us into opting for a full system replacement instead—since the cost difference was only a few thousand dollars. For context, we received a competing quote from an authorized Armstrong Air repair provider: $1,800 total, including refrigerant, for the exact same repair with no permit required. When we began asking questions and requesting clarification about the charges, Bobbie told us Service One no longer wanted to do the job and had already asked AHS to transfer the service ticket to another provider. Rather than explain or justify the cost, they simply walked away from the project.

Key Takeaways. Ask for clear, itemized quotes and don’t hesitate to question charges. Always verify local permit and code requirements independently. Get a second opinion—especially if you’re being pushed toward a costly system replacement. Be cautious of service providers who withdraw from jobs when questioned or who may use misleading claims to avoid warranty obligations.

While city requirements can vary, our experience shows that Service One’s misrepresentations directly led to loss of warranty coverage and an attempt to charge excessive out-of-pocket fees. Once we began to challenge the pricing, they simply backed out. We urge other homeowners to be proactive, informed, and cautious when dealing with warranty contractors like this one.

American Home Shield (AHS) is by far the worse company to do business with. I happily canceled my policy in April and switched to Choice Home in May, in where I have had a better experience so far! It took AHS over 3+ months to tell me they could not fix my oven even though they said the new part would be in within a few weeks, and 4 months just to get me 1200 dollars for a new oven. Horrible customer service, horrible company, and overall I suggest no one ever use AHS.

We have used AHS for over 10 years. Recently their claims to repair or replace have never been so false. We waited over one month to finally repair our refrigerator. The technician replaced every internal component from the compressor to the cooling coils and the entire process from ordering parts to multiple (5 appointments) took one month and after reviewing Sears invoices to AHS, cost over $1600. Each time we called the AHS rep said that Sears never said the appliance could not be repaired. This is a lie. Each time the tech said that they communicate the need for multiple parts and time for repair telling them that the appliance really needs replacing, AHS approves the parts order and another appointment to repair.

The dishwasher has been broken for over one month, again with EVERY component replaced and over 4 repair visits. The repairman told AHS that the dishwasher should be replaced, again AHS refused and approved one more part, the motor. They have completely rebuilt the dishwasher at a cost of over $1200 and it is still not repaired. So the time a customer is without an appliance due to multiple parts and multiple repair appointments is not considered for a reason to replace the appliance. I recommend just establishing a saving account for repairs. DO NOT consider AHS or any home warranty program

The Business Model of American Home Shield Feels Deceptive. American Home Shield charges customers a monthly fee along with an additional service fee whenever a repair is needed. Once a service request is submitted, they assign the job to the lowest-cost contractor—often one with poor reviews and minimal experience. That contractor contacts the customer, schedules an appointment, and then takes photos or videos of the issue to send to American Home Shield for evaluation. After reviewing the report, American Home Shield decides whether the repair will be covered. If approved, they notify the contractor of the portion they’ll pay for—leaving the customer responsible for any remaining balance, even though the contractor wasn't of their choosing and may lack adequate qualifications.

In my case, I had a leaking shower faucet that wouldn’t shut off and a bathroom faucet with stiff hot and cold water valves. The fix was simple: replace a cartridge in the shower and two in the sink. However, the contractor, Aladdin’s Plumbing, only took photos during the first visit and returned two days later just to capture a video—still with no parts ordered or repairs scheduled.

After four days of delays, American Home Shield denied the repair, claiming a failed cartridge wasn’t a result of "normal wear and tear"—which is both incorrect and absurd. Cartridges are clearly mechanical components that wear out over time. Their appeal process offers the option to request a second opinion from another contractor, but you must pay another $100 service fee. If the new technician gives a similar denial, you're left with no repair and wasted time. To make matters worse, the technician who visited my home had no plumbing knowledge. I had to guide him on how to access and remove the cartridge, just to identify the issue myself.

They wouldn't even tell me if the notes on my account show from what the previous agent notated. They had a vendor do the estimate, approved my order, ordered the part, and scheduled the work order for 6/4/25. They turned around on 6/3 and cancelled the appt and never notified me. I had to find out through the vendor Formula Air and when I called AHS I found out that they denied my claim because they stated this was a previous issue. This was not a previous issue. I had to email them proof showing that the tech that came to my home 7/5/24 installed a condenser fan and did a coil clean and tune up and did not install a compressor. I have been getting the run around, received terrible customer care, and I have a 6 month old baby in the house.

AHS still has not reached out to me to reschedule my appt nor have a supervisor return my call. The agents didn't even want to tell me the location of the office. This is the worst customer service experience and it makes the company look bad. Apparently AHS is known for bad customer service, being a scam, and not completing jobs. I wish I would've known this beforehand and went with a different company. Now I know better.

Scammers so beware. I created a service request on 5/13/25 because my AC unit was not cooling properly. TCA HVAC LLC were assigned and arrived at my home on 5/17/25. The service technician advised me that unit was not cooling properly due to a leak in the coil. On 5/20/25 at 9:45am I received a message from AHS stating to call them. I immediately called them and they said my claim was denied due to "pre-existing conditions." I asked what deemed it pre-existing since the issue started shortly before I put in the request. I was told that the pro wrote it in the report.

That didn't seem right because of the detailed conversation I had with the tech regarding the diagnosis so I called TCA HVAC. They said that they DID NOT write/report that it was a pre-existing condition. I have requested the document from AHS several times and was told they would send it and have not received it yet. They did request that I send in a document showing my routine maintenance/inspection report which I provided. Now that TCA has stated they did not report it as pre-existing and I have provided documents proving it was in working condition AHS is giving me the run around. They have even authorized 2 second opinions without my knowledge or consent.

Second opinions cost $125 and are usually requested when you are disputing the diagnosis. I am however not disputing the diagnosis but disputing the false claims that it was "pre-existing". If you are dealing with this company, please document EVERYTHING. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a company. My co-workers are embarrassed that they referred me to this company. I think AHS are a bunch of crooks. Home Shield actually came with the house when we bought it two years ago, and I thought I’d canceled it until I looked at my paperwork and realized I still had them. I’ve filed a few claims now, but I’ve gotten nothing from them. Every time I use them, it costs $125 just for them to say it’s not their problem.

My stove started acting up, so I thought I'd use them. They sent out a service guy who couldn't speak English at all. He didn't even know the stove's amps and had to call Home Shield. They couldn't understand him either, so he just labeled it an electrical problem. Home Shield confirmed I didn't need an additional $125 payment, but when the electrician finally came out a week and a half later, he said it was a combination of the breaker and a loose outlet tripping it. He told me Home Shield wouldn’t cover the issue, so I had to pay $425 for the electrician to replace the breaker and the outlet myself. I’ve had no problems since.

We also used them for the dryer, which was so old my clothes were actually catching fire. The technician just said there was nothing more he could do, so I ended up replacing the washer and dryer myself. Then there was the pool heater. The technician said it needed a flow switch, but they told me it wasn't covered. I lost that money, though AHS said they credited it back to my account. They eventually did come out and replace the flow switch, but the pool heater is still bad. I haven’t replaced it because it costs $7,000. The supervisor says it’s covered, but the pool technician says it’s not. I don’t want to pay another $125 just to be told again that it’s not covered.

The problem is the people working there don’t seem to know the contract, and they find a way out every single time. I'm done dealing with AHS.

Good day Steven. Thanks for leaving us your feedback. I'm sorry to see that you did not feel that the warranty provided value to you.

I have had the opportunity to review the past service requests that you mentioned. The electrical outlet problem was diagnosed as being the result of a power surge. Electrical surges are not covered under AHS service contracts. We do include that information in the exclusions section of all of our contracts. I do see that after you objected to the denial of coverage, our customer service agent made you aware of the option to receive a second opinion diagnosis from a new vendor. You refused this offer, which is of course your right. The pool heater service request was also diagnosed as being a failure of a non-covered part listed in the exclusions section of the contract.

In reviewing the service request for the dryer, I saw that the vendor came out to the home and completed a repair. However, I did not see any subsequent communications from you to our team after their last visit. If another problem occurs with any repair within a thirty day period and we are made aware, AHS will always issue a recall, which sends the vendor back to the home to repair problem at no additional charge to you. If, however, we aren't made aware of problems after a repair attempt, we can't address these issues.

Thank you for the kind words regarding the courtesy you were shown during the tech's service visits. I'm sorry to see that you are no longer a customer with AHS. If you ever decided that you might wish to try the warranty again, please feel free to check out our contracts first via https://www.ahs.com/contracts/. We detail what is covered and excluded in all of our plans here.

I’ve had an extremely frustrating experience with Liberty Home Guard. From the start, the claims process has been slow and confusing. I paid the up-front service fees as required, but appointments with technicians were often delayed or cancelled, dragging the whole process out for weeks. Communication has also been a major issue. It’s been difficult to get clear answers about when my claims would be reviewed or approved. Even worse, some appliances I was told would be covered when I signed up were later denied — which directly contradicted what I was promised by their sales reps.

I’ve also found the advertised scope of coverage and payout amounts to be misleading. When I requested written explanations for denied claims, I never received a clear response. There are also a lot of exclusions and fine print that were not made obvious up front — things like age restrictions or brand/model limitations that weren’t disclosed during the sales process. Overall, I feel like the service hasn’t matched what was advertised or promised, and I wouldn’t recommend Liberty Home Guard based on my experience.

The first time SJDI Electrical Services came out, they made a determination, and the electricity worked for about 8 hours. I called them back, and they gave me an appointment. It was 90-something degrees down here in Texas and we didn’t have any air conditioning. We had three AC units, and none of them were working. My husband and I are both sick, and I was under the doctor’s care. I told them that but they said we had to wait almost a week for them to come again. About a week later, we had an appointment from 1:00 to 4:00 and we sat here and waited. At 4:00, I called the company and asked when the tech was coming. They said he was out here at 1:30. I said he didn’t ring the doorbell and didn’t knock on the door. One of our panels is in the garage, and one is outside on the wall and he didn’t even have the decency to let us know he was here.

When I called American Home Shield, they said the tech notified them. I did not like how that went down and after that incident, I did not trust AHS. I called, and it took three days for the rep to assign me. I asked if they would give me another company and the rep said it was not a recall. So I told them to have the company come again. But that is still open. So, I paid for another company to come out here to verify what the problem was and it was my generator.

I called the generator people and they came out and saw that the transfer switch was taking the power out of the house. So they did something to allow us to have air conditioning until they ordered the parts to come back and make a permanent fix. SJDI Electrical has not called or scheduled. I have been intending on calling them just to cancel it, but I'm going to wait and see how long it's going to take to reschedule somebody to come out here. I've had American Home Shield since 1973, and the only reason I'm with them is I live out in a rural area, and I have a well, and they cover my well. Other than that, I'd have been gone a long time ago. I also had a rental property until I sold it last year, which American Home Shield also covered.

American Home Shield is a good service. It covers a lot of things that are needed and they’re doing a little better about answering now. I used to stay on the line for at least an hour sometimes, just waiting and listening to that crazy music. But they still need to improve on how they handle customer disagreements. I had a problem with a refrigerator and the repair company came out here six times and still didn’t fix it. And AHS wouldn’t let someone else take a look. I said I would get a second opinion and they said I couldn’t have one. I asked again for a second opinion, and they still said I couldn’t have one. They need to change that rule because if a customer has a legitimate disagreement with the company, then AHS should be supportive of the client. In the end, I had to get a new refrigerator.

I have a built-in refrigerator and it cost $5,000 to replace and AHS only paid 4,000. The men delivered it but they wouldn't put it in the kitchen. They put it in my family room and me and my husband had to unhook the old refrigerator and roll it out to the garage and get a salvage company to come and get it. My husband hooked up the new refrigerator and slid it back in. I called AHS but nothing happened. The customer service reps are programmed. They're like robots and they follow a script. And you ask to speak to a supervisor but there is none available.

The first couple of times, I gave a good review after the phone call because they sounded like they knew what they were doing, until I learned that nobody was doing anything.

It's a never ending fight! Know your plan by heart because one day they will fix the problem and the next, oh they don't cover it. They fix a fan in one room but refuse to fix the second fan with the same problem. Saying they don't cover it. The people they send to your home are also one star rating and have poor attitude and attention. We kept having a leak in our shower and it took over a month and three different plumbers to fix it. When they were done and the ceiling needed to be fix, they refused to replace/repair it all. Even tho. It's in the plan. You can't get anyone who speaks clear on the phone and they hang up on you the moment you ask 2x for them to be clear or repeat. They say they cover things and even if you point out page/sentence of such coverage, they still find ways to deny your claim.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with American Home Shield. I called to cancel my service back in January and was convinced to pay for one more month in February with the promise of receiving March and April for free. I specifically asked if I needed to call again to cancel and was told no—it would cancel automatically.

Despite that, I was charged again on May 26 without my consent. When I called to request a refund, I was met with resistance and pressure to keep the service in exchange for one free month. I spent 45 minutes on the phone going back and forth with customer service, who refused to cancel or issue a refund. I even recorded the call.

What’s worse is that the company’s website says you can cancel at any time and receive a prorated refund—clearly not true in my case. As someone who was recently laid off, this unauthorized charge has added unnecessary stress and financial burden. I cannot recommend American Home Shield based on this experience. The lack of transparency, accountability, and basic customer care has been incredibly frustrating.

The recent claim that we had was because we were having trouble with our AC. It was not coming on when we turned it on. And so, AHS sent Temperatures Unlimited out. It ended up being something really simple. It was the breaker. And they were able to take care of it promptly.

We used their online service twice when we submitted a request, and our experience with it was good both times. It was the best.

I was very dissatisfied with that whole operation of American Home Shield. They didn't fix the toilet. I'm considering canceling the whole contract.

They sent two people out, one of them came and he said he just needed to tighten the bolt a little bit. I told him that any plumber of any worth would say that once a wax ring is compromised, a bolt gets loose, and the toilet pressure is not on it. It doesn't pop back up again. It's already bent down and it's going to leak a little bit. The first one did nothing. No one bothered to take the toilet off and look at it.

The next one came in and said the warm water caused the ring to be compromised. And they won’t fix it because it was not normal wear and tear. The toilet has a bidet on it, and there is some lukewarm water. They're telling me the water is so hot that it melts the wax ring. There's something wrong with the toilet. It has a sour smell to it. I am so dissatisfied.

I will call back and consider closing it and get rid of this contract. It was the worst experience. My toilet still leaks and it still stinks. I have a regular plumber who will come, who can fix things, on Friday. He's charging me $80 to come, while AHS is charging me $125.

I didn’t really have an issue with American Home Shield. I can’t really say that, because it took three months to get my dishwasher fixed due to their contractors being unreliable.

The last contractor they sent for my dishwasher was fantastic. He figured out the problem, knew exactly what it was, and fixed it. The first contractor who didn't show up was Sears. The second one was Batten’s, they came out, said it needed a new motherboard, but didn’t even check the error code and they replaced the motherboard.

Then it still wouldn’t work. They said the motherboard fried, but it kept showing the same code. It turned out to be some kind of drain issue, Batten’s never even checked.

When I called Batten’s back and I said it is still not working and asked if I need a new one. It still took a month for them to get back to American Home Shield to request another vendor. Altogether, it took three months to find someone who could actually fix it.

They figured out the problem in about 15 minutes and ordered the part, which took a week to arrive. As soon as it came in, they made an appointment, showed up on time, and installed it. They were fantastic.

I manage almost 200 properties, and American Home Shield is really about doing the least amount of work to solve a problem, just putting a Band-Aid on it and making it work as long as possible.

When it came to fixing air conditioners, they would only replace half the unit and make it run on two different types of refrigerant. If you have an old AC that uses R-22, they’d give you a new unit with the updated refrigerant and make you keep the old, working unit, figuring out how to make them work together.

I had American Home Shield in the past. Had washer issues, they couldn't fix it, they handed me a check to buy a new one. Had refrigerator issues, couldn't fix it, handed me a check. Came back to Texas, got the Platinum Package because we wanted to make sure everything that could be covered is covered.

I had air conditioner issue the first year we were here, Air Tech didn't call, didn't show up. Joe Cool ended up coming out fixed it. Year two, had the same problem, Joe Cool came out and fixed it. This year, the AC started shutting itself off, wouldn't run, was ticking and clicking. We put the service order in, they assigned Air Technical, didn't contact us and showed up four days later. They came out and they couldn't get the issue to repeat, so they closed the ticket out. We called and reopened the ticket because it started repeating, and we videotaped it. They reassigned Air Tech again, even though we requested not to reassign them.

The second time Air Technical came out again, saw the video hemmed and hawed, doing troubleshoots that didn’t work. I ended up having to pay $900 out of my pocket for them to do the coils because they said it was gonna fix the problem, and it didn’t. The third time, he supposedly fixed it, it worked for an hour and started ticking again, blowing hot, so I shut it off. The fourth time, he completely disconnects the sensor from the unit, bumped a drainpipe in the process, and before we knew it, it was leaking water like crazy. We have water damage that's on the sheetrock, the carpet. The box that the air conditioning and heating unit sits on top of is wet, so we've got structural integrity issues going on there.

We called American Home Shield, and we couldn't get anybody who spoke English clearly enough to where we could understand what was being said and the background noise was. We asked to speak to either a supervisor, and we got the runaround, until I was able to get through to somebody in their escalation department, explained to him what was happening, that it was unacceptable, and they needed to do something about it.

The fifth time Air Technical came out, he asked for $471 for putting back the safety switch that they took out. We said no, and he didn’t argue with us. The service tech, very nice guy, no issues with him, but Air Technical is a terrible company. I’ve requested again not to send us that company because for 27 days, in Texas, in 90+ degrees with 80% humidity, triple digits, we went without that air conditioner unit being properly fixed and running.

American Home Shield’s site is fairly easy to maneuver. You go in, you request a service, you schedule it. Boom, it's done. It was fast. With Climate Kings on my AC, it went smoothly. They got in. They did what they needed to do. I have no complaint.

AHS offers a lot of different services but I would not be using those anymore. I was going to have some cameras removed, but it was a really bad experience and I wasn't happy with that at all. I had that service done right before the air-conditioning service.

It was horrible. I scheduled to have some cameras put up on a Saturday because we will be out the whole week. The first guy let me know that the kind I had are gonna take longer to put up, so he said to go on and cancel to reschedule, so I did.

The next tech who received the ticket told me he couldn’t make the appointment, and that I needed to cancel. When I did, I was charged $25. You assigned it to a tech who can't be here, and you couldn't reassign someone else, how is that my fault? I ended up paying for that.

AHS provides a great service, just be mindful of these other third-party companies outside. My checkout was totally different than when I'm scheduling with Home Shield, so I say be careful. I said I would reach out to Home Shield but I hadn’t. That's been a while since we've been swamped around here.

Also, the thing on the sink where you push that plunger to let the water in and out was broken and the tech didn’t replace that. The tech said there was a clog in my kitchen drain so it’s still stinking. It’s still leaking at the bottom of the base. I’ve done everything that they told me to do, which is very annoying.

I’ve been with AHS for eight years and I’ve only had a thing on my air condition unit replaced. When I had my hot water heater go out, I had to pay 500 and some odd dollars for that. I’m shopping around ‘cause I’m not completely satisfied with them.

They fixed the bathroom. They thought that was a leak in the bathroom. I guess it was a leak, but they checked the meter, and it was still running. It was still spinning. But I had to pay, so American Home Shield didn't take care of anything of that. It was $520 something. Since we were seniors, they gave us a discount, and I paid $474. They didn't send F6 back. They sent another company out. So SWAT came out, and I asked, “Why didn't they send the same people out? Because the guy they were familiar with the leak.” And then I had to pay another $100. I have a deal where you can go inside my house and go under, but they were saying that where the leak was, it was better for them to dig and go down inside the house or something, so they had to do that. Then they came out again to go under there to do the leak.

When the other company came out, I had to pay $1,300 for them to dig under the house to fix the plumbing. We've been with American Home Shield for years. I had to pay out, and they really didn't pay anything. I don't know what they were talking about, but I just went to cancel because I didn't have that kind of money to be paying Home Shield, and I've been paying them for years. Then I had to come out of my pocket with that much money. I'm no longer with them. It's been about a month. I could not understand them, and it was just the language barrier. Then they kept giving me from one person to another. I think they switched me over to about three or four different people, and it was just frustrating. I'm 79, and my husband is 85, and it was just hectic for us. I was just very dissatisfied, and I would not recommend them to anybody else.

Hello Carol. Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. I apologize that you found these recent service requests to be frustrating.

I've had the opportunity to review the recent calls in our notes. I see that the additional costs that you paid were due to expenses that are not covered in the contract. For example, while AHS covers a number of repairs and costs for the plumbing in homes, the contract does not cover the need to access leaks that are below the foundation of the home. Unfortunately, this was the situation with your leak. Also, there were modification costs for the replacement of a pipe. Modifications are not covered under any contract. AHS did pay for the labor of the technician and the cost of the materials in the pipe itself.

I will be reaching out to you directly via email within 24 hours to discuss this work order further.

I made a claim with the American Home Shield on the 14th. They’ve come out every week until this past Thursday, and each time they would come out, they would find an issue that needed to be fixed. To begin with, it was the leaking and would not progress through the cycles without me having to help it. They came out the first time, inspected it, and ordered some parts. They came out the following week and did the same thing, but I still had the same issues. They came out a third time and did some work on the progression through the cycles, and it seemed to have leveled out, and they replaced the tub itself because there was a crack in it. This past Thursday, they came out, checked it, they were gonna remove the motor and replace the bearings, but they were not able to do that, and that's where it's been since Thursday. Up till that time, I was able to use the washing machine on the lowest setting, and it wouldn't leak. But if it went to the medium cycle or high cycle, it would leak all over the inside of the laundry room.

The technician that came out was a very nice young man, knew what he was doing and was very good at it. It's just going through that long process to figure out what was actually wrong, and finally, at the end, there was nothing else that could be done. I received an email last night saying a determination was being looked at.

I put in a claim for my furnace in March because it wasn't working. American Home Shield sent out Comfort Pro. Comfort Pro came out and said it was my blower. They ordered the part for the fan. I was without heat for a week. Another guy brought the part, put it in, and did whatever he had to do. I still had no heat. He said, "Oh, no. It fried your memory board." They ordered a new memory board. Two guys came back and they said, "Oh, no. I'm sorry. We wired it wrong." They wired it the right way, supposedly, and I had heat.

By the end of April, it got really hot. I went to turn on my air and I had no air. I called American Home Shield again, thinking it was my air. Liberty Plumbing came out and their guy said, "There's nothing wrong with your air conditioning. Your thing is wired wrong here." When he wired it back the right way, I had no heat. He said I needed a memory board.

This was back on May 7th. I've been fighting with American Home Shield. I want all my service call money back. I've been waiting since May 7th for Liberty Plumbing to get a part. A couple of weeks now, I wanted to turn on my heat, but I can't turn on my heat because they left it for the air conditioning.

When I call American Home Shield, I go to the Philippines, Africa, and the Caribbean. I can't get anybody in the United States. I’ve had it and I'm ready to call Channel 7. I called Liberty Plumbing the other day to see where my part is. They were really good in the beginning, but I haven't gotten a call back.

American Home Shield charged me in March $100 for the service call. When all this started, they credited me back the $100 for March as a courtesy. They charged me $100 for an air conditioning service, which I can't make anybody understand. I wouldn't have had a call for my air conditioning if the problem had been fixed right in March. They charged me another $100 so Liberty Plumbing could come and fix the furnace. That's $200 plus $85 a month I pay.

American Shield needs to do something. To have the air conditioning unit wired wrong could cause a fire in my house. I would like for someone to get back in touch with me to help me with this problem. This is the first time I'm really having to use American Home Shield. I wouldn’t recommend them.

The Total Refrigeration Solutions technician came out to repair our LG refrigerator because sometimes, the freezer didn't work. Sometimes, the food would thaw out, and then sometimes, it was okay. Every time he visited, he would say it’s okay and we have to give it 24 hours. And then I get an email that he ordered parts. I called back and to say it’s not ok. He came back the second time, and he said it's good now. And then I see he ordered more parts, and then it's still not working.

After three visits, he decides, “Oh, this refrigerator isn't any good.” And after each visit, the refrigerator declined even more.

And then when I talked to AHS I was thinking that they're going to replace the refrigerator. The woman said they will have to see if they will find a refrigerator equivalent to what I have. She got back on the phone and said they have already spent $1000 on repairs so they can only give me $997 to purchase another refrigerator.

It was a horrible experience. And then we went for a few days where they couldn't even get in touch. AHS said that they were gonna fine them. And I don't know what they fined them for, but I agreed because it was horrible customer service. But in the end, I am the one who actually lost out, and I feel very cheated because I pay a fee every month to have American Home Shield. And then I pay a deductible when they send someone out.

In the 10 years that I have been with AHS, it's not always good. And they choose these companies that they're supposed to stand behind. With the amount of money that I'm paying, when you add together the monthly fees in a year's time, if something happens, I probably could just call a technician myself.

So, I thought about canceling AHS, but I'm just used to having that cushion of being able to call someone and pay that $100 deductible. And so, I'm really struggling with it now, whether I should keep them or not because of the bad experiences that I had: with my condenser, my hot water heater, and now it's the refrigerator. I’m very dissatisfied with them. So, I'm thinking, is it really worth it?

My water heater died so I filed a claim with American Home Shield online. The turnaround time for a response was very quick. They got me the company name very quickly and arranged for them to contact me, and they contacted me within a day.

They replaced the unit after they sent people down to take a look at it. It took a little bit of time because of the delivery of the unit, but they were able to work out an appointment within about three days, and about a week and a half, I was able to get the actual unit installed.

I have AHS for about five years now. When we bought the house, the previous owner bought it for us. Their service is good. When I called them about a question, they were very responsive. Their online service was much better than the phone system they used to have.

I've had some issues in the past with some of the contractors that they've had. And I've had to go back and forth a few times with some shoddy service. I don't know what AHS’ vetting process is. In this particular case, it worked out very well.

Lynnco needed to provide a diagnostic for our HVAC unit and solved the problem. The guy just had to adjust some PVC pipe that was improperly installed by a different company. We're very happy that he was able to take care of it.

Their online system is good. There's a slight delay in getting someone to call you back and schedule a service. That's the only thing versus if I was to call a company myself. When you're dealing with something like air conditioning in the middle of the summer, time is of the essence.

We've been very pleased with American Home Shield. We have them for two years now. The only complaint is that, when I first called, they discouraged us from using our home warranty because the unit is still under warranty. The previous company gave us an incorrect diagnostic and we had to pay them. I wish we went with the home warranty from the get-go.

Here's why I like American Home Shield. We live in the city and we're in a high rise. It's really hard to find people to come to the building because it's a real pain in the neck to get here. We’ve been with American Home Shield for more than five years and in general, I've had a really good experience. It wasn't until last year when they wouldn't replace our water heater because there was some code issue, that it turned into this big nightmare. We hired somebody on our own to come in and fix the hot water heater. That was a really bad experience.

We usually don't have to make any further claims though. They're usually teeny tiny things that we can have fixed and American Hoem Shield usually gets them done. But after last year, my dad was very upset because he paid for the warranty and we had been without hot water for a long time last year. He was really concerned that we weren't being taken care of. It's hard to get in touch with them. If you can get it all done online, it's great. But once you have a problem, it's incredibly difficult to get things resolved.

This time, United Air was coming out for plumbing. They called me and I missed their call. My dad and my husband stayed off work, and they had rescheduled, but then they didn't come on that day. Then my dad called American Home Shield. We were just gonna drop it, but the technician did finally come out and fixed our sink, so everything is resolved. We're satisfied now. It was just a mess because I missed the first call from them.

I submitted the request and they came out and looked at it. Before the visit, they asked me the model number and the problem so they could come prepared. However, when the technician came, he wasn’t prepared and said he needed to order the part. He rescheduled the appointment for two weeks, and they might contact me if there was a cancellation.

Sears contacted me and said they had a cancellation and rescheduled me on Tuesday. I confirmed right away and they sent daily reminders for my appointment. I stayed at home from work and waited all day but no one showed up. I tried contacting them and checked the app which initially said they would arrive between 8:00 and 5:00. Around 5:15, it’s updated to 8:00 to 6:30. I kept waiting and 6:30 came but they never arrived.

I called American Home Shield and they contacted Sears, and said they weren't coming. I had to wait another week for them to come out. That was very irritating. They said they had a cancellation, but then never showed up and didn’t contact me to let me know. I don’t want to deal with Sears again, they were horrible to work with.

I would definitely consider AHS as a contact to represent their company. I don't know if other people had the same issue, but it was very irritating. It would’ve been one thing if they had said, “We’re backed up and won’t be able to get to you,” but I waited from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. and heard nothing. I had to find out on my own that they weren’t coming.

I had a recent claim for my washer, and that went well. It’s just that American Home Shield is the one who botched that service. They had me going back and forth on the phone from them to the Appliance Agent, trying to find out where the part they ordered almost two weeks prior.

AHS told me that the company had ordered the part. I called the company, and they said they didn’t have a tracking number, and AHS didn’t give them one, so they don’t know when it’s coming. I called AHS back, and they said they can’t give me a tracking number, and they will have to go through the order department to find a tracking number and send it to the company. When I called the company back and told them this, they said AHS didn’t give them a tracking number.

I’m going back and forth for the service that I’m paying for, and I can’t get a tracking number to see how much longer it’s going to be to have my appliance working. I really didn’t like that, so I tried to cancel my membership. Then they eventually came out and fixed it. We finally got an answer the next day or so.

I have been with American Home Shield since November, and I’ve been trying to cancel since the day I got it. I would never refer them to anyone.

A-Fix Service, specifically Alex, worked on my dryer. The motor wasn’t turning the drum properly, and even when it did, it wasn’t drying. He did a great job. It took a couple of tries, but he worked through it step by step. It wasn’t that he did anything wrong, he first tried replacing the belt. He was very communicative and said, “See how it goes over the next couple of days and let me know.” I told him it still wasn’t working.

He came back and replaced the entire motor. He said to see how it works over the next few days and let him know. So far, it’s working. It’s an older dryer, about 10 years old. So it’s on its last leg, and that’s not Alex’s fault. I’m not sure if it’s working perfectly yet since it’s only been a couple of days and we’ve just started doing loads again.

He did accidentally scratch the front glass door, but I don’t want that to come across as a negative. He went to great lengths to fix it, he was apologetic, very communicative, and even brought a replacement door. There was some confusion with the replacements. One was the wrong size, and another had a scratch. It took three appointments to get it right. But he stayed accommodating, kept me informed, and made sure everything was taken care of. He did a good job.

Wemo Appliance came out for our refrigerator door that wouldn’t stay closed. They had to replace a part and they thought they fixed it but then it started coming open again. Since it was so old, they suggested we get a new refrigerator.

American Home Shield gave us a gift card but we were having a little bit of an issue. That could have been due to email bouncing back. They had to reissue the gift card but it took longer than the suggested three days to receive it. It took almost two weeks.

Then we got the refrigerator delivered yesterday and it had a dent in it. The person had trouble getting it into the house and they had to remove the doors on the refrigerator. So, we have a new refrigerator with the door off. He also didn’t know how to tap the water line of the water refrigerator so it’s not hooked.

Now, we have an old and a new refrigerator sitting in the house. They didn’t take the old refrigerator and they’re just gonna send somebody out again on Saturday. So I’ve had my tenant with one broken refrigerator and without a refrigerator for over a month.

But other than that, I don’t have a problem with Home Shield and Wemo. It’s just now with Lowe’s trying to get the refrigerator in. But they tried to provide some type of compensation for the inconvenience.

Also, AHS has went up on their booking. It used to be about $85 when I first started with them, but now it’s $125. That price is a little excessive when I’m paying a monthly fee.

One time, we had Wemo fix our door but then it broke again. When I called AHS, they told me it was gonna be another $125 to reschedule. It was outside of the 30 days but it was the same issue that didn’t get fixed. I have three accounts with them, with one of them for over 20 years. It was pretty lame that they wanted to charge me for the same issue. In the end, they gave me some type of compensation.

American Home Shield wanted to charge me again for the plumbers to come back and fix it. During those six weeks, they said they sent an email, and that's all they can do is send an email.

Everything was amazing, because three things happened in three days. Our washer, dryer, and then our hot water heater. If we didn't have American Home Shield, we'd be screwed. We were very pleased with the tech that came out for the washer and dryer. He was amazing.

While he was fixing the dryer he found money. It was $20 or $25. He immediately let us know. He was very honest. My husband told him, “You know what? For being honest, you should keep that.” I forgot his name since I’m not at home. My husband is always home when the technicians come out.

I'm saying that customer service of American Shield is amazing and the people they send out are incredible.

It’s been frustrating. I had a claim last year for my pool heater, and American Home Shield denied it. The warranty asked me to repair it, so I did. I used my own technician because I’ve used that person for a long time. I spent $800 to fix it.

This year, the pool heater failed again and the warranty denied my claim. They talked to the technician, and he said, “Well, I don’t know that you really fixed it because I didn’t come back to see it.”

Then American Home Shield sent it to their claims review committee, and they denied it again. They said it didn’t pass visual mechanical test. When I asked what that meant, they said it just meant they looked at it and it didn’t look like it worked.

Every customer representative I’ve talked to doesn’t really know what visual mechanical test means. I asked for a supervisor and finally spoke with one two days later. The supervisor didn’t know what to do either and said they couldn’t do anything. I don’t have anyone to talk to. There’s no way to dispute a claim and no real process for it.

I’ve had good experiences with claims in the past. Some of them went smoothly. But this one has been particularly frustrating because it keeps getting denied without any consideration, and no one is actually talking to me.

They asked me to send documentation, and I did. Then they denied the claim based on a section in the policy saying it didn’t pass a visual test. No one understands what that means. It sounds like another way of saying, "We don’t wanna pay you."

I had a KitchenAid double oven that had to be replaced and the buyout was not what it would cost me. It should be replaced with another KitchenAid oven, not a lesser grade double oven. If it costs $3,000 in the store, I should get $3,000 to be able to purchase another product like what I had. American Home Shield only gives you about $1,500, so you’re still out money. I really have a hard time with that.

One other thing is that some of the vendors that you provide are not really great, so we've thought often about discontinuing our service. And then when you call in, you get somebody from a foreign country that doesn’t understand our ways of thinking. It's difficult to communicate with them at times. Also, every time you renew your policy, you get a new policy number. If you renew it, the number should just carry over from year to year, it shouldn't be a new one. Because it's confusing for me. We have three of them on properties and I go crazy that every year it's a different policy number.

I had a clogged sink drain. My appointment was from 3:00 to 5:00. My son took off from work at 2:00 to get here. He was here from 3:00 to 5:00 but they never came. I called and the rep said that the plumber came at 1:00 so they cancelled the appointment. She said it was our fault that we weren’t there. She kept trying to put the onus on it was my fault that they came at 1:00. She said we should have someone two hours before the appointment.

We went roundabout on that several times. I asked for a manager and the owner was the one who spoke to me. She was much kinder. She scheduled someone to come the next morning at 8:00. So, I had to have someone else take off from their work to be here. Because I was in Arizona, I was not in Colorado. I had to have someone else take off from work to be here.

I told her when I scheduled the appointment, “The last guy that was here only had a 25-foot snake. And he said, ‘We need a 50-foot snake. And that's special. So, whenever you call for a sink drain from the kitchen sink, you need to let people know that they need to bring the extra-long snake to get it out to the septic tank.’” But then the guy shows up with a 25-foot snake.

We had a cleanout about halfway through the house. And so, he was able to go through that cleanout uphill to the sink and downhill to the septic tank and get it cleared. Eventually, they did the job. And my sink is cleared. But personally, I would never use them again. If I had the choice of who to use, I would not use them just because they tried to make me at fault for something that they did by showing up two hours early.

And I have a renter in the house. And she needed to have a kitchen sink. She happened to be on vacation that week, which is why I had to have other people there and they lost work hours. Mile High got the job done, but it was a major hassle for me.

American Home Shield might want to see if they have any other complaints and maybe put them on probation or something. I pay American Home Shield and I don't pay the plumber. But I keep getting flyers about clearing drains for $60 and I paid the contractor $125. So, did I pay more? And I didn't even get to pick who came. I find it questionable.

    Good afternoon, Elna,

The appointment was from 3 pm to 5 pm as stated. I spoke with the owner of the company and she stated that the tech called you at 2 pm to see if they could come early. She states you told the tech you were at the golf course, and then hung up the phone. This confused the tech, and he thought you were not going to be home at all, so they did not go to the home. So, apparently this was a misunderstanding, and miscommunication. I do apologize.

The tech did go back the next day and complete the work.

Thank you for the feedback, and letting us know there was a misunderstanding, but that the job was successfully completed.

I recommend that other people get them. KNS Plumbing came out about two or three weeks ago for the commode downstairs. When you flush it, it would get caught. The tech said there’s nothing that they could possibly do, so he really couldn't do anything to it. But he was really nice and everything's doing fine. With the claim in December though, the tech who came didn’t do anything. He just said that my commode was older, and told me how to work it so it wouldn't get caught again.

I have had American Home Shield for 25 years total between different houses because of my moving in the military. They’re responsive, and the contractors they have brought over were fine. The last technician came because my mother-in-law had clogged the toilet using paper towels as opposed to toilet paper. I was able to clear it before the guy actually got here, but he still used his snake just to make sure. He was very nice, professional, and understood my position with a 93-year-old mother-in-law. He suggested I hide the paper towels, which was a good idea, so we made some adjustments.

However, the repair for my refrigerator took a while. Water was coming out of the water spout on the door and they couldn’t figure out why. They ripped off the entire wiring harness on the back of the refrigerator and replaced all the diodes. They basically rebuilt the entire back of the fridge and it finally worked to a point after seven visits.

I still can’t get cubed ice cubes off the door. If I want ice cubes, I open the door up, pull out the ice tray, and press for cubed ice. But I may have to call the contractors back because the ice always comes out crushed whether I press for cubed or crushed ice. That’s not a big deal, but eventually, I would like the cubed ice option to work so I don’t have to reach into the ice tray. But other than that, there are no issues. I don’t let it bother me.

American Home Shield is really on top of it when you put a claim in. When they sent Patriot Plumbing out, they cut two holes in the wall, one upstairs and one downstairs, so he could see where the water was coming from. We realized it was actually coming from the shower head spraying on the back of the drywall.

He basically told us that we just needed to get a new shower head, and then he gave us a referral for another company to see if we needed a dehumidifier to dry out the area in the ceiling. We contacted that company and they told us we didn't actually need to do all of that, so we just ended up doing the drywall ourselves.

I’ve had mixed experiences with American Home Shield in the three years that I have them. I've only called them out twice. First of all, the customer service is always good. They're always very polite, very prompt. I just used them a little while ago and everything was fine.

But there was one time I called them out. And it was very prompt. They sent out a person. And the person diagnosed the problem. And they said they had to replace the thermostat on my HVAC. And Home Shield wouldn't cover any of it. And they said it was a smart system, and smart systems were exempt from my policy, which I disagreed with. And so, I asked to speak to a manager.

And I had the policy in front of me, and I pointed out the clause that says, “If it's required to operate the system, it's covered.” She argued with me. I told her it was smart in the sense that you can link it to your cell phone to turn it on and off. But since its a thermostat, I need it to operate my HVAC.

And when I asked to speak to her supervisor, I heard her mumble that the supervisor would say the same thing. They had already made up their mind that they weren't gonna cover any of it. And I wound up having to pay for all of it myself. I disagreed with how they read the contract. Since I could afford it, and it was the middle of winter time and I needed heat, I just went ahead and paid for it myself.

My air conditioner broke, and I didn’t have a home warranty. I was talking to some of the guys I worked with at the time. They mentioned that they had a good rapport with American Home Shield, so I went with them and have been with them since 2005.

The contractor comes out twice a year for the maintenance of my AC unit, and I’ve been doing this for years to keep my air conditioner in good shape. Recently, they sent Comfort First Heating. The contractor spent about an hour going through a maintenance checklist, but they didn’t find any problems with my AC.

When the contractor was going through the checklist, he was also telling me preventively what would help me going forward and the difference in the Comfort First, their maintenance plan as opposed to American Home Shield’s plan. I take the information they gave me, look at it, and then make a decision.

The last time, I had an incident because one of the vendors they sent to fix something didn’t do a good job. I ended up having to pay another service charge to have another vendor come out, and AHS told me that the previous person was the cause of me having to call them out.

I was pissed at the time because I just paid the service charge for the air conditioner guy to come out. Then I had another service charge for the other person to come out for my dishwasher, and they did a shoddy job and made it worse. My dishwasher is not even three years old yet and they messed it up. They haven’t called me back or anything.

I'm not satisfied with what they’ve done. I called AHS, and I told them that I was dissatisfied with the vendor that they chose to come out. I haven’t circled back around to that because it just really pissed me off. Other than that, I haven’t had any other issues.

Every time I’ve called, I’ve had good people come out that explain what they’re doing, so it helps me understand why I’m paying this home warranty company. That's the only time that I’ve had that issue with a bad contractor. But Comfort Heating has been coming out to my house probably the last three years. They’re the ones that service my air conditioner and heating. Overall, American Home Shield is a good home warranty company.

Outlaw Heating and Air came out and installed the thermostat but had left the connector kit off the unit itself, so the fan was just blowing. They didn’t think to check to see if they left anything off.

They had to return to get that fixed. But the claims process has improved a hundred percent. It’s so much cleaner, and it’s easier to call people back.

It’s been three years with AHS with this house, but in my previous home, I had it for 16 years. I let it go that time because I was having so many issues getting stuff done and didn’t get any claims off it. This time, it was clearly just something that was overlooked, but instead of throwing me back to start all over again, they came right back.

They are moving in the right direction. This group that I’m dealing with now has been very good. I would recommend. Four years ago, it would have been an absolute no because I was thoroughly disappointed with American Home Shield. I wrote a review to tell them like it was and filed with the Better Business Bureau for assistance.

American Home Shield sent out a technician to repair a stove and oven. I filed the claim online and it works well. They were able to get it taken care of and I have had no more issues since. I would tell anyone that American Home Shield is good. Sometimes they take longer or they don't listen when you call them. But other than that, they're okay.

The claim for an AC issue didn't go very well. A company replaced it in November after trying to get it replaced since September. When it was time for the heat to come on, it wouldn't. They came back out and they told me I needed to buy two new thermostats. I did that and the heat seemed to work through the winter. But when the AC was supposed to kick on in the summer, I found out that it wasn't working.

I called American Home Shield. In that time, that company has opted out from working with AHS because they said it was too difficult to work with them. AHS sent me to another company who’s tech came out and said, "It's frozen up. I'll have to come back later today once it's unfrozen and look at it again." They didn't come back, but said they sent me something saying I had to agree to $1,000 of uncovered charges before they would come back. I didn't wanna do that.

I called the original company to come back and they told me that it was a leak in the line and it needed to be replaced. AHS says it's not covered, so I had to pay them $1,500 out of pocket to get the line replaced. I wasn't really happy with it. I almost canceled my subscription. They refunded the $125 service fee, the second service fee I had to pay this year. They also gave me two months free. I'm still gonna cancel, though.

Hello Kiran. Thank you for your feedback. I would like to address the concerns that you raised.

It is true that AHS service requests cover existing service failures. If the technician assigned to diagnose determines that the failure occurred due to normal wear and tear during the unit's operation, a repair or replacement will be authorized. However, our plans explicitly do not cover pre-existing failures; that is, failures caused by factors which pre-date the start of the contract. There is also no coverage for failures that were caused by any factor other than normal wear and tear which occurred during correct operation and the covered time of the appliance or system. In the event that a coverage denial is issues, we give the customer the option to have a second opinion diagnosis conducted by a new vendor who will not be informed of the details of the service request. If the 2nd Opinion vendor finds that the initial diagnosis was wrong, then we assign that vendor to complete a repair. However, if they confirm the initial diagnosis, then the denial will stand.

Please be aware that it is not true that contract details are not shared with customers prior to the start of the contract. At our website, we provide detailed sample contracts for all covered regions of the United States. Customers can input their region and see details of the coverage for contracts in that area, without needing to purchase a contract first. The link to use is https://www.ahs.com/contracts/.

In the case of your recent HVAC service request, the unit was not in proper working condition prior to the start of the contract. A simple mechanical test would have determined this, meaning that it could reasonably be known to you prior to the contract's start. This was the reason the service claim coverage was denied.

If you have additional questions or concerns, you can feel free to reach out to our team directly using the email address socialmedia@ahs.com.

They let my basement flood for over 72 hours and then they denied payment for the problem stating "normal wear and tear". It causes thousands in additional damage and they refused to do anything to remedy the situation. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

I unplugged the circuitry. The technician came and said they'll try to find the replacement parts for that igniter. After some extensive search with their corporate or whatever they were dealing with, they say they cannot find the replacement parts. GE does not have any replacements anymore for that igniter. It was their decision to replace the whole stove. I wanted them to fix it, but it's good for now. I'm happy with the new one, and it's similar to my old ones.

I started with AHS around 11/2023 and after several months of not receiving anything in the mail, about my plan so I decided to google the number and call customer service the person was very helpful and friendly and what I would have thought to be accurate information. I asked her if she can email my policy to my personal email and she did and stated that it might take up to 24 hours of receipt. That is fine I just need it in or to know what is in my plan. That is when she started telling me what was covered under policy. She stated you have the best one, roof is included. That is when I set up my account online and able to review what my plan covers or says it covers.

We have had multiple storms back to back and my basement flooded and roof leaking. So because the customer service person I spoke with told me that I had roof coverage and got the link to hook up my own account I might not have known or paid attention to this. I called for service for my roof and I got the ball rolling at least I thought. I paid $125.00 for the service call fee to come out and review the property to start the process. They came to my home the contractor and took all the information and inspection told me to next steps.

Once AHS got the information I was notified and told me the steps. Then it was declined due to an error on their part roofing is not covered under my plan. The decline and the error on the plan were all on the portal, no professional follow-up or explanation and then took my monthly payment out with no hesitation. But mind you the customer Serice person last year I talked said it was covered. The why on earth would you have a customer already paying monthly since 11/2023 and not 1 claim, if not covered because you now have a claim for it, it is not covered.

Why accept my money and claim if it was an error on your part as you said I feel they should have taken care of the bill or half. This is not good customer service and has left a bad taste in my mouth because I feel the monthly billing I have paid is what I could have used to pay this $10,000.00 bill this contractor sent to you to decline. I am right now wondering if this is a reliable, trustworthy company for me to continue giving my money for service in these day and times. Will all services that is requested just an additional payment for that month.

They have contractors that are small businesses that can’t handle all the service calls so that also adds to the time to get things fixed. American Home Shield denied my claim because they said it was pre-existing. I purchased the policy over a month ago, but it didn't go into effect until Sunday the 4th.

High Priority Plumbing originally came out. It was for a water heater. They actually didn’t check it. He came in, took a picture and said it was broken. He asked me when it happened, and I said yesterday. He then got on the phone with High Priority and after that conversation, the rep he put on the phone with me said it would be denied because it was pre-existing.

I told the service tech that it shouldn't be labeled that just because my policy is fresh, and he said that’s how they do it. Anything that's gonna happen within the first 30 days of your policy, they're just gonna say that, whether it's pre-existing or not.

It's still not working. It hasn't been fixed and they're just trying to find ways not to cover something that is within coverage. In their policy manual, it says it has to be a known pre-existing, and I keep reiterating to them, there is no way for me to have known. My first sign that there was something wrong was when I woke up and I saw that my garage had flooded.

I got a second opinion through Pronto Plumbing, and even the second plumber said there's no way for me to have known things were going on in the inside unless I got a full inspection, which is just not normal for a person to do.

Hello Brittney. Thank you for providing your feedback on the recent service request. I was able to locate your service request and review the notes.

Your contract started on 5/4. The service request for the failed water heater was placed the next day, on 5/5. Both the initial assigned technician and the second opinion vendor confirmed that the cause of the failure existed prior to the start of your contract. Unfortunately, this is situation which is clearly described in our contracts, and it is not a covered repair.

I recently had a claim and I got a call from American Home Shield that the tech was coming. But all I’ve got was a phone number and the name of the tech. It’s the first time we’ve had him here and I didn’t know much about him but since he was from AHS, I wasn’t too concerned.

The guy was pleasant and he came with everything. He was right on schedule like he said. But he didn’t leave me any paperwork so I don’t know what happened. Usually, when they come after they leave, they give me a little summary of what they checked and whether or not anything’s needed. But he just said everything looks good and we don’t need to do anything. Other than that, everything’s working okay so I can’t complain about that, especially with this hot weather today.

It was a little different what we usually expect. I know everybody has problems keeping service people so AHS probably have to change often. It’s the nature of the business now. But it’s nice if you can have the same people. The last four years, I’ve had the same company from AHS and they were very thorough and give a lot of documentation. That’s why it’s such a change from what I had. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t do what he was supposed to do. He was here and everything checked out okay. But all I got is his word.

Also, after AHS sent me the initial bill, I got a call from somebody who was trying to get me to sign up for something and that I was getting a discount. But I don’t appreciate that. If I get a bill, I’ll pay for it but I don’t expect additional calls from somebody I don’t know.

And every year, the price goes up. I know it’s inflation but it is getting expensive. But when you have a major repair, then it doesn’t sound so expensive. When I got to replace my refrigerator and air conditioning unit, that takes care of the cost for the year. Overall, my experience with AHS has been good and do what they say they’ll do.

There's a filter that goes inside the AC unit, and then there's a cover that closes. But Fletcher couldn't get it to close. They put duct tape around it and over a week or so, the tape came loose and the cover fell down. That's what I saw and I had them come back.

I don't know what they did, bent or broke. But they should get it back together with all the parts inside. It was built that way. I'm not crazy about the fix that they put in. They were talking about having to take the whole unit apart. I said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa.“ This fit together before these guys came to work on it, so I allowed them to just take the filter media out and put the cover on, then I’ll figure out what I'll do next. That made the cover fit but it wasn't very professional.

The unit seems to be working fine, but my concern is a couple of things. Number one, they taped it together instead of addressing it with the first visit. Secondly, their solution was to take this thing out that's blocking it. This unit's been serviced by others before and I've never had a problem with the cover going back on. But now, I've got a unit without my filter casing inside of it. It won't make a difference because there was no media in it, but still.

I’ve had American Home Shield for four years, since 2021, and they've done well by me. I'm happy with American Home Shield. Typically, the technicians are good. This particular one was not so good. We've had other work done on the AC before in the prior years, and it was fine. The folks showed up and did a good job. But it was not Fletcher. I couldn't go two weeks without a washing machine. And he said the problem was they didn't send people to do the repairs. And I can understand that because people don't want to work right now.

The other time, we had a hot water tank that went out and it was leaking all over my floor. And they can’t get her for five days. I told them I can’t turn off the heater unless I turn off the water. They came out after a couple of days and fixed it. The service guys wanted to do it but they’re just bogged down. The guys were very pleasant. When my washer messed up before about six months ago, it took three people, three different days to come out here and fix it.

When my husband had pulmonary fibrosis and the temperature was 103, the air conditioner went out. I called and they said they’ll be here as soon as they can. Since I don’t know how long it will take them, I just said I’ll pay it myself. And I had it repaired. And one time I called, and something else was gone, and I called and asked them about it, and it was at Christmas time, and they said they can’t do it until the first of the year.

In the three years that I have American Home Shield, I can say that the technicians are fine, but the claims take forever. I've given them every opportunity.

We had them as a gift from the seller when we bought our house in Georgia in 2019 and we kept renewing it until we sold our house in 2022 and bought a house in Florida. We decided to stay with American Home Shield because we didn’t have any issues with them. We had a couple of things that were problematic in Georgia that they took care of very nicely.

Here in Florida, we've used them mostly for HVAC maintenance. We had a problem with our dishwasher, did a virtual call with them, and they sent a tech out to replace the soap dispenser. The most recent one was supposed to be annual maintenance for the HVAC, but the AC stopped working, so they canceled the visit and rescheduled it as repair instead. They sent a technician out from Burleson, diagnosed the problem immediately, replaced the capacitor and it was back up and running. We've been very fortunate we've had the same company come out except once, and the second company they sent for the maintenance was just fine. The price is reasonable and fair considering American Home Shield American is one of the top-rated home warranty companies out there and it’s highly rated. Our next-door neighbors went with American Home Shield based on our recommendation, and I’ve told people when they've asked that we've had good experiences with them.

I had gone to the other side of the kitchen and to walk back over there and open it and look. I had all those black plastic things you put in the bottom of your stove oven so that crumbs will fall on that, and the occurrence left big white stripes on that. It was that powerful. I did not know what happened but I noticed that everything else plugged in were still working. So, it did not occur to me to think about a breaker switch.

The guy from EJ’s Appliances who came was very nice, kind and professional, but he wasn’t here very long. I spent $100 to find out the breaker switch on the back of the house needed to be flipped. It had been very rainy, and I don’t think I could have managed it with my walker in the mud.

The cost when I joined American Home Shield in 2002 was $45, and I know prices go up. But, 100 bucks is a lot considering that this was all it took. When you can go years without using it, and then all of a sudden, you need it, but it’s 100 bucks, it hurts a little on the budget. Still, I choose to stay with American Home Shield rather than another company.

American Home Shield has done better on my other claims, but this recent one has been the worst. It was a disaster from beginning to end. What happened was, since the beginning of April, American Home Shield kept sending people out. They didn’t know how to diagnose what was wrong with the appliance. They had replaced a part, and then it wouldn't wanna work. So, they came back and replaced another part, and it still didn’t work. Every part in the machine had been replaced eventually, and it still didn’t work. And then it took them another week to figure out that it wasn’t repaired. And they sent out an electrician in the middle of it all to make sure it was getting power. Sure enough, it was getting power, but it still didn’t work.

Anything Appliance was the second contractor that they sent. The first company came out two or three times. And that company, they just seemed to have a part swapper. He wasn’t really a diagnostician. But I’ve had Anything Appliance people come out for other things before, and they seem better than the first company that they sent.

And they were able to finally convince American Home Shield that nothing could be done, and that they’d already replaced every part in it except the wiring harness. And they were gonna ask American Home Shield to replace the wiring harness, but American Home Shield said that enough is enough, and they’re just gonna replace the whole thing. And so, the new one was just delivered today. But American Home Shield couldn’t find anybody to install it. So, I’ve already got a contractor, and it’ll be installed quickly.

Original Review: I have had AHS for over 5 years now. I had a decent experience when my water heater went out and needed to be replaced. However, with my central AC systems, I have had extremely poor support from AHS. They keep fixing pieces of the system - which requires re-charging with refrigerant to the tune of $1000 out of pocket every time, not to mention continually dumping refrigerant into the atmosphere.

The contractors sent to do the work have been good - and they recommend to AHS that the system needs to be replaced - but AHS keeps trying to fix it piece by piece. My latest request, all three of my systems are out and I cannot get AHS to respond to me for an update on what they are going to do. The contractor has submitted their estimate, but AHS will not call me and the call center keeps "putting a note in your file" to have someone call me. Every time, the promise they will call "definitely within 12 hours this time" - but no call. I cannot get in touch with anyone above the foreign call center to give me a status.

Additionally, they take FOREVER to provide service, sometimes MONTHS, and require HOURS arguing with customer service. When they do send a tech, they are FREQUENTLY INCOMPETENT!,

Hello Neil. Thank you for reaching out to our team with your feedback.

I'm sorry that you feel that the service is not meeting your expectations. I'd like to address some of the grievances that you expressed. Regarding the price increase of fees, these are sometimes necessary because of the rising cost of services and parts . AHS still provides access to repair services that will average a much lower cost than what a consumer on their own will pay for a major repair or replacement. We still cover a wide range of of repairs for the appliances, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems in your home.

I do see that you were not happy with at least one of the vendors who came to service you. AHS works hard to ensure that our vendors are licensed, insured professionals. However, if a customer does not want a particular vendor to return for future calls, we can accommodate that request.

If you ever need help with a work order, you can reach our team by emailing us at socialmedia@ahs.com. Please be sure to include your contract number and address in the header of your email. Thank you.

American Home Shield’s pricing is a little high. I have home warranty with others, and they’re like 65, and AHS is at 125. I had a problem with my washing machine. I was wondering one time why my white clothes were not white. Where you put the bleach at, it is not draining all the way out so I have to pour it in the washer, and that’s defeating the purpose of that little area there. It was a dingy-looking. And in one area, the water is backing up in.

They’ve been out three times and they haven’t solved the problem yet. They told me I need to put water in that little bleach area so it could drain, but that doesn’t make sense to me and shouldn’t solve the problem. Each time, I’ve had to pay $125 when they come out. It’ll work for a little while and then it stops. It’s a fairly new washing machine.

But the technicians that they’re choosing now are better than the ones before. My recent claim was a very good experience. Their rep was very friendly and I was very pleased with the contractor did.

I already have American Home Shield for my home. Then I called earlier in September 2024 to add on the swimming pool. I was very clear with the agent that she took the request from me. I told her I have an underground swimming pool which has many accessories and a remote control. I asked three times if I could add on the swimming pool and all the accessories. She said yes and that I will not be charged yet. They were gonna start charging from February next year.

After a couple of weeks, I had some problem with the remote control. It did not turn on the waterfall and rockfalls. I called and they charged me $100 for the service fees. They sent a technician who then said that he was just doing the above-ground pool and not the accessories. I called back again and was told that my plan does not cover this type of accessories. I asked if they can cancel my plan. They said that they cannot cancel the plan after 30 days. I told them to listen to the call. We went through this one till date and they didn’t do anything.

Then last month, I had a problem with the breakdown in the electric outside in the backyard. The sump pump stopped working. I called AHS to send me somebody. Then I had one ceiling fan which was not working and they sent me the electrical technician. He looked at the breakdown there in the backyard. He said it was not his expertise and he was only there for an electrical issue. Any pool equipment was not related to him. He said he’s gonna ask AHS to send somebody to take care of the pool equipment.

Then I asked him about the ceiling fan. He said the remote was not the original one. We lost the original one so we purchased a universal one through Amazon. He said that since it was not the right remote control, he couldn’t fix it. He started being rude with me. I told him to do what he can do and those that he can’t, just report it to AHS. I told him I was gonna report him as well. And then he leaves. I called AHS and told them what happened. They apologized to me and that they would not send him anymore.

They said that the tech reported that the ceiling fan doesn’t have the same remote so they couldn’t cover and they would refund the $100 for the service fee. Then they send me somebody for the pool from the pool company.

The tech checked my equipment but said it was not related to him. He advised to ask AHS to send an electrical technician to check why there was a breakdown. He checked with his machine. He said the sump power had no power. I asked him about the switch and he said that it was related to an electrical technician. He also said that he was a supervisor and he was just coming to see what was the problem. Then he leaves and didn’t do anything.

Then AHS called me and said that they were gonna send another tech to take care of the problem. The same day I checked and there was water from the underground pool. It broke my refrigerator outside in the backyard and the patio floor.

I called AHS and told them about it. But they said they were not covering the secondary damage. I told them it was their problem because they kept sending me the wrong technician who did not fix my problem for a month now. I had an argument with AHS and they said they were gonna send another tech for the pool equipment. They were gonna call to set an appointment.

Then last day, my security camera sent me an alert that there was somebody on my backyard and he was roaming around inside. Then he leaves. Then the rep left a message saying that my technician was there looking for the switch to turn on the sump pump to fix it. I kept trying her 79 times. I called the same number that she called me. Then I called a number and asked how come the guy had accessed my backyard without my permission. Second, my dog was at the backyard. I thank God that I did not unleash the dog before I left or I will be the one in trouble.

She texts me saying they tried to call me to say that the tech will be there between 9:00 and 11:00. But I didn’t get any phone call to set an appointment and nobody told me that the technician was there. I asked here to send the tech back and she texted me that she was in a doctor appoint and she couldn’t answer. Then she sopped responding to me.

I called AHS and even her colleague couldn’t reach her. This is not the professional company to deal with. They are not reachable. They apologized and said that I will be put in top priority. I asked them to try again but I was kept on hold while they were trying to each her.

Here I am today with the same problem with the broken refrigerator and broken vacuum floor because of the problem they did not solve yet. Also, when I asked AHS to send me another electric tech, they send me the same guy who came the first time. He knew he was here before. It was raining and I had to bring an umbrella and hold it for him. He said to give it to his assistant. He did appreciate it and then they left.

I had the three air conditioners that I inherited when I bought the house checked through American Home Shield. I got the first one free, and then I paid $200 to have the other two inspected. The first company told me that I had one compressor burned out. I expected them to start another service order on that compressor, but they called me about seven days later and said I had to start the service request. And so, I did. I was impressed with the lady who I talked with in Africa. She was very capable. But I just want to be able to talk to a human who is here in the United States to settle the problem.

Fortunately, I got the contractor that normally comes to my house for the last two years. And he tested it and said that there was nothing wrong with it. He topped it off with a little Freon and he did a great job. I knew the man. I knew his crew. I was very happy with them. That was Comfort Heating and Air Conditioning Incorporated. The first group, the fact that they misdiagnosed it, maybe they weren't that good. But my wife likes the idea that I can call one company. It's a stress relief for her. So I still got a warranty with you.

My faucet was leaking and it didn't take long for Hers & His Plumbing to initially come out. It took about three days after I called. I had something else going on that day, so other people were at the house, but the technician was okay. He called and let me know when he was on his way. He showed an hour later.

But he left because he said he was going to look for the attached sprayer to go to it. He came back and said that he would have to order it. But I never heard from them.

It took two weeks so I ended up calling. They put me back on the schedule for him to come back out over 2 weeks. He came back with a faucet, not the sprayer. And I was at work and I had the impression that I was going to get the sprayer. But he couldn’t locate it so he got the faucet. The faucet he got was totally different from my faucet. It would look like a bathroom faucet, and I told him I wanted something tall like the one I got in the kitchen, and he said I can get what I want and he can come back and install it.

While he was there, I called American Home Shield, and they said that the technician tried to get something similar and make sure I wanted it. They don't know why he didn't do that. They told me that they would make me a priority, because at this time, it had been three weeks or so.

I called that next day and I spoke with His & Hers and I asked them if he was going to come back. They said they are going to have the area manager come out to talk to me about what happened and what went wrong. The day before he was supposed to come out, they called and said he wasn't coming out. They need to reschedule and put me back with the original technician. I asked if they have a different faucet to put in because I didn't want the faucet that he had. That was the whole problem. And there was some other stuff that went in between it.

He came back to my house a third time with the same faucet. And so I told them I didn't want it. I would take the money even though I would have to pay somebody to install it because at that point, I was done.

American Home Shield was telling me one thing and His & Hers was saying something else. And it was just back and forth, and I'm trying to talk to both of them while he's there, and I'm still not getting the service that I wanted. AHS said that if I don't want to use His & Hers, I can pay another service fee of $125 and they can put another service request in for somebody else to come out.

It's been going on over a month that I haven't had it fixed. They should be able to either credit me a service fee or waive it because I pay monthly and I still don't have my faucet fixed. I wanted to cancel American Home Shield. I just haven't got around to it because my faucet's still not fixed. I got the money last Friday, and I'm trying to find somebody to actually get it installed.

My dishwasher wasn't going through the cycles and wasn't cleaning properly. Bluffton Appliance came out. The tech saw the dishwasher’s make and model and knew immediately that that make and model of the dishwasher had been having issues, and what the issue would be. He was very knowledgeable and knew what was going on. It ended up being that the motor went out and it needed a new one. It was a very simple diagnostic.

He ordered a new motor and said it would be here soon. He let me know of their availability. "I have this and this going on and this is the earliest I can be here to install it." I said, "That's fine." He came back when the new motor came in, put it right in, and it's working perfectly. It was very quick. Bluffton Appliance came when they said they would, unlike other places. I've had other people come in to do work in my house for other things and they've made a mess. But when Bluffton left, there was no mess. The tech cleaned up, threw things away, and made sure the place was as tidy as he found it.

I had American Home Shield for a couple of years. I canceled it because it wasn't affordable for me, then I signed back up. It's nice to have. People think I’m throwing money away when I could be putting that money in the savings account. However, there is a service fee for Bluffton and other appliance companies charge to come out. The fee that I pay monthly and the service fee I had to pay when I make a call to have someone come out is less than what would have been if I didn't have the warranty. I save money in the long run. It's just a peace of mind that I don't have to come up with the whole amount on my own. If anything goes out, I can call AHS, pay my $125 service fee, and someone will come out to take care of it for me.

I did the claim through American Home Shield’s automatic system. I paid my little $125 service fee and then they had a guy to come out. Oscar was the tech who came. He had to check my hot water heater because it went out. The first time he came, it wasn't getting any hot water. He checked it and he showed me where it was leaking inside the hot water heater. He showed me where he can fix it temporarily, but the hot water heater was gonna have to be replaced because it was leaking inside. That's what he did. He fixed it for a minute and then he ordered the necessary parts.

He came back a week later and put everything together. Once he put the hot water heater in, it was still taking a long time for the water to get hot. We called Oscar back out and he said he was missing a part. The cold water was running over into the hot water and that was why it was taking a long time. He ordered a little piece. When that piece came, he came back, put that in, and it's been working perfectly ever since.

With American Home Shield, everything moved pretty fast. They got the hot water heater in a reasonable time. When Oscar fixed the hot water heater, it lasted me until the new one came out. Everything was very professional. The process was fast. I expected it to be longer but it wasn't.

The price of American Home Shield is also very reasonable. Before I got the home warranty, I was checking around and a lot of places were a lot higher. With American Home Shield, I only pay $125 for someone to come out and they fix whatever is wrong for free, unless it’s like the hot water heater where I needed to upgrade the pipes. American Home Shield covered the hot water heater but they didn't cover the upgrade. My plan didn't cover that. I was only out 1600 for the upgrade that needed to be done. That wasn't bad because before I allowed them to do anything, I called around and I would have been out three times as much as that. I was very pleased with the service from beginning to end.

I arranged to have someone to be at the house all day long, and morning of, they called and said that they're gonna reschedule for two weeks down the road. American Home Shield ended up finding another person from Red Oak to come fix it, then I got a text saying my appointment had been rescheduled for another week, but they had already ordered the part. I've literally been paying every month, and it hasn't been fixed. I don't know who to get in contact with. I've left messages in the chat and tried to talk to someone. I ask what the next step is, and they just say they’ll call somebody else. I had this one lady call me back because one of the representatives was so rude. It has just been the worst experience.

Arid Valley Plumbing came to switch the garbage disposal out and I was very appreciative of that. However, since then, it was leaking. I called on a weekend and said that I needed to call for the appliance. I asked if they could at least evaluate it. However they did not. The following week I called and told them I’m not happy and they need to send someone out. The water was still leaking and he said I need to replace the appliance. They were trying to push an appliance guy on me. But I told them I had to go through AHS for that.

I replaced it but I did not go with that guy. And I'm not happy because I'm paying for the services, and they have to finish the job to my satisfaction. I already spent $600 replacing the dishwasher. I'm paying $70 monthly. And when it's my problem, when it's time for them to help me out, they don't. I would cancel this, and then I would just use contractors privately. Because of my problems with American Home Shield, I already know a personal contractor.

I had issues in the past and that's why I had talked to somebody in American Home Shield in the past and they were apologetic and they gave me a couple of months fees. That's the reason I'm staying, but it doesn't look very promising. If I stay with you AHS, I have to still deal with them again for other properties which I have, and I do have other rental properties. So, it doesn't make sense for me.

Every year, they increase the price, and I'm notified about this because everything is automatic for me.

Then we got an email from Sears which said that the parts have been ordered. I called AHS and they said Sears was still looking. But I was told there are no parts available. So to this day, I still don’t have a washing machine that works. A month went by and finally, AHS said Sears can’t find the parts. They finally told us to go to Lowe’s and buy a washing machine. I had my first claim with American Home Shield, and it was horrible. My blower motor went bad on my furnace. They have the technician come out. I paid the $125 service fee. The technician said it was a bad blower motor, bad heat strips, and bad something else. I don't know what the other one was, and this was due to a power surge, they said. I'm an electrical contractor. I own my own electrical business. So, I know 100% that it was not a power surge, because I diagnose things like that. When I call them back and explain that it wasn't a power surge, because my claim got denied. They sent another technician from a different business. I explained to him what happened and what's going on here. He says, I can't diagnose a power surge. I wasn't here when it happened. He told me that he was absolutely not putting in the report that it was due to a power surge. It was just a failed part that he was gonna put in there, and I agree.
We have surge protectors and whole-home surge protection. It doesn't just take out one small thing in a unit. There would have been other things that shown power surge. We over-surged something, not just one blower motor in a furnace.

The problem happened internally in the unit. But they denied it, denied it, denied it, denied it. So, I ended up going and buying the $600 part and fixing it myself. That was yesterday. It was hot, and I was mad.

American Home Shield sent out a contractor who was very professional. He was very nice and friendly, and he was able to repair our ceiling fan. There’s a remote control module in it that had to be replaced.

I’m just a little disappointed that the pricing keeps going up as high as it is. While it’s comparable to other places, it was quite a bit less when I first started with them.

We had an AC problem, so I called the Home Shield warranty. They’re sending a technician to our property. The technician said the condenser and cooling system were damaged and that the whole unit needs to be replaced.

Then Home Shield called and said I’d have to pay $4,500 out of my own pocket. They explained which items weren’t covered, and I told them I’m not paying $4,500 until I know how to handle a cash-out for the AC unit.

I told Home Shield that I have a tenant with a medical issue and needs cool air in the house. Still, there was a problem. They put a portable AC in his house, but they were supposed to call me to let me know how much they would give me for a cash-out on the unit. They were supposed to call Monday or Tuesday, but still nobody called me. It’s been a very bad experience.

I've been with American Home Shield for quite some time. I had issues in the beginning when I first signed up, but I think things are improving and I haven't had any complaints. They had a contractor come out because my bathtub faucet wasn't turning off. It was some type of valve that needed to be replaced. The contractor was polite, quick, and straightforward. He came in, swapped it out, and then he left. It took 10 minutes. Everything's working fine now.

American Home Shield is my home warranty. I have a great experience with them. They fixed my oven. I filed it online and it was pretty simple. However I had to choose from one of their people who I’ve never heard of. Other than that, it was seamless.

My fridge stopped working completely, both the freezer and the top portion of it. Filing the claim with American Home Shield is really easy. Getting someone to come to fix it, usually, takes a few days. Luckily, we have a backup fridge. Otherwise, we won’t have a fridge for about a week and a half. The technician sent by American Home Shield was very nice. He identified the problem right away, and came back in four days because he had to wait for the part to arrive. He fixed it, and it's been working okay since then.

American Home Shield seems to be okay. We’ve had so many problems with our air-conditioner and it took them a long time to come out, but that was a few years ago. They fixed it.

Arid Valley Plumbing came out because the toilet wasn't working. There was something inside, and they fixed it as soon as they came. They're real friendly.
