I recently had an interaction with American Home Shield regarding my air conditioning unit. The internal and external parts were making a loud noise, resembling the sound of a mower or a vehicle approaching. I submitted my claim online, which was fairly easy to navigate. Unfortunately, the service experience with Affordable Heat and Air LLC was less than satisfactory. The technician struggled to understand the issue, as the unit had never previously made such noises. During the visit, he lost a part in the leaves and seemed unsure of his actions. He claimed the unit was merely going into defrost mode, but this explanation didn't satisfy me since it had never done so before. Despite being told it was "normal," the issue persisted.

Having used American Home Shield for about seven years, I've realized the cost keeps rising while my use of the service is infrequent. I previously recommended them, especially for older homes needing repairs, but the increasing expenses have made me reconsider. The ease of not having to find someone for repairs was appealing, but the service delays, such as the month-long wait to fix my ceiling fan, were frustrating.

Overall, I would rate American Home Shield as a 3 out of 5, reflecting average satisfaction with my past experiences and current concerns. The coverage seems less worthwhile, giving it a 2 due to high service fees. However, the website itself is user-friendly.

I recently had a heating issue at home and reached out to American Home Shield for assistance. It was a pretty major problem since there was no heat at all in the house, so I filed a service request online, which is pretty easy to use. They assigned a contractor named Comfort, and although different representatives came because they had to order parts, each one was friendly and professional.

The repair process was smooth, and my heating is now working fine. Generally, I don't have to call American Home Shield often, just a couple of times a year for issues like this. I feel they offer good service, even though I think I spend a lot on the policy compared to the number of claims I file.

Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. While the customer service and policy coverage have been excellent, I do feel the cost is quite high.

We've been in several houses that have older appliances, and that's what triggered our signup with American Home Shield which we've had now for about 10 years. We like that they get back to us. We put a claim in and we are immediately given the contractor's phone number and contact information. It's all done very quickly then it's just a matter of lining up a time with the contractor's availability.

What I don't like about the system is that they will occasionally go to fix an appliance and have to do that multiple times when, in fact, they could have replaced the appliance much cheaper. Unless the appliance repair is less than 50% of a new one, they're just gonna keep repairing it. We've had experience with that on a dishwasher.

Recently, the heater that I've been using in my office tripped the switch outside on the electrical panel. I did a claim with American Home Shield and all the contractor did was come out, re-trip the switch, and it worked fine. It was a very simple fix than I thought they're gonna have to. They were top-notch. They also said to be careful using this type of heater because it draws a lot of electricity.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about 20 years, and my experience with them has been great. They've consistently been there for us whenever something breaks down. The service calls have been prompt, and they resolve issues without any problems. Recently, Climate King came out to fix our AC unit, which had a bad capacitor. The technician was very professional, fixed the issue quickly, and was finished in about 30 minutes.

I usually arrange service through their online platform, which is very user-friendly. Overall, I would give American Home Shield 5 stars for their customer service and online service. Although the price has gone up every other year, which I would rate a 4 out of 5, it's understandable given that everything tends to increase in cost.

I had a claim with American Home Shield because I needed my sink fixed and my water heater replaced. The contractor they sent was very good and knowledgeable, addressing the issues quickly. The furnace thermostat wasn't getting any power, and the heater wouldn't turn on. I submitted my claim online, which was relatively easy. I was notified via email about the contractor, Topline Heating & Air, and the time slot they would arrive. However, the contractor appeared without prior notification, which was inconvenient as I wasn't home.

The technician diagnosed that a loose cable in the attic was causing the lack of power to the thermostat. He explained that vibrations from the heater had loosened the cable. Since the repair, the system has been functioning well without any problems.

Although I was satisfied with the contractor's work, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been less favorable, which is why I didn't renew my contract after a year. I had two houses with American Home Shield and while I like the fixed service fee and the ability to cancel anytime, I've had instances where claims were denied, and I was asked to pay additional fees for a second opinion.

I would only recommend American Home Shield to someone unfamiliar with home repairs or a first-time homebuyer. My advice would be to be cautious as they often find reasons not to cover repairs under their service.

I needed my faucet replaced, and while the replacement isn't as high quality as my previous one, it serves its purpose adequately. The process was efficient, and the contractors from Econo-Rooter did well this time. However, I had a frustrating experience last year when the contractor didn't replace the faucet on the initial visit. This resulted in an extra call and additional costs of about $200, which could have been avoided if the issue was resolved correctly from the start.

Despite this, everyone who has come out has generally done their job, though thankfully, I've not had to use their services often. In terms of customer service, I'd rate them highly, as my interactions have been pleasant. Pricing feels a bit high for what is offered, though it's reassuring to have the coverage just in case. Overall, I'd give them an average rating. While you might not get your money's worth back in every situation, having the policy provides some peace of mind.

I recently had a water heater issue and contacted American Home Shield through their website. I was impressed by the quick response, with an appointment scheduled in less than 24 hours. My experience with their customer service had been positive as I have always used their website for communication. When Apollo came out, they first did an assessment and submitted their findings to American Home Shield. Within 2-3 days, the replacement was approved, and Apollo set up an appointment for the replacement. Despite the situation, I wasn't without hot water, except for the brief 45 minutes during the actual replacement.

I have called American Home Shield for smaller plumbing issues in the past and encountered efficient service. This was the largest issue I faced with them, and everything went smoothly. I'd definitely recommend them and have given them a full 5-star rating for their customer service, quality of service, affordability, and ease of use of their website. Overall, a very satisfying experience!

I've had American Home Shield for about 15 years, relying on them for various appliance and air conditioner issues. Recently, my dryer stopped working due to a fuse issue. The repair required disassembling the dryer, but the technician from Big Kountry Appliance Repair was excellent and resolved the problem within an hour.

American Home Shield has always responded quickly, except during COVID when parts were scarce. Generally, their service has been reliable, which is why I've stayed with them for so long. However, I've noticed the costs keep rising, which is a downside. While their coverage is good, on occasions like a minor air conditioner repair, I found paying out of pocket could have been cheaper than the service fee. I pay every month then I gotta pay for the service fee which is $108. It's usually okay 'cause it's usually a pretty bad problem. But I've had problems that I paid $108, and if I would have just paid the air conditioner guy, it would only been $50 to put the capacitor in.

Overall, despite some cost concerns, I'm satisfied with their service and would rate them 5 stars for coverage and customer service. Pricing, though, would get a 3 due to its increasing nature and sometimes not being cost-effective for smaller repairs.

Appliance Network came out to fix our dryer. Initially, after they left, the dryer started making a loud noise. I called them back, and by the time they returned, the noise had lessened. The contractor mentioned that a part needed to tighten itself over time, and it seems to have improved since then. Overall, the contractor was knowledgeable and efficient in their work.

Submitting the claim over the phone was easy. I received a text from American Home Shield informing me about the contractor, including their contact details and when they would be on site. My overall rating for American Home Shield is a 3. While they provide timely service and send skilled technicians, their pricing structure is frustrating. I've had past experiences where they wouldn't replace a faulty furnace, which led to them repeatedly sending technicians out, eventually raising my premiums due to multiple visits. They explained the hike as a way to recoup money spent on parts. I ended up having to go and buy my own furnace because they wouldn't replace it.

I found this frustrating as I have been consistently paying for a warranty, expecting coverage for such scenarios. The cost-benefit just doesn't add up. Maintaining such high premiums while having to pay each time for service calls discourages me from staying with them. I ultimately decided to cancel after my rates increased significantly following a refrigerator replacement. I believe it's more beneficial for me to save the money I’d spend on their premiums and simply address repairs and replacements independently. The customer service for arranging repairs is great, but handling cancellations was a tedious process.

I have been extremely dissatisfied with my experience with American Home Shield. Despite being a customer for four years with a platinum program I've never used, my experience with their service has been nothing short of poor. During my recent claim, I encountered both plumbing and electrical issues. I reached out to them and had to call multiple times for assistance.

When the technician finally arrived for the electrical issue, he mentioned needing approval before proceeding with a simple $100 fix. He never got back to me, and after several attempts to contact him, I received no response. I called Home Shield and nobody knew anything. Similarly, for the plumbing issue, I was left to manage on my own, despite their assurances of follow-up. I called the company for the next two weeks and they didn't know they were doing this. I called back to headquarters at Home Shield and they said, "This is our process. Let me get in touch with them." I said, "Can't you send me another person out here to fix the problem?" "No." Nobody came out. I was left to resolve both issues independently.

As a 70-year-old doctor, having to become my own repairman due to their lack of service was frustrating and unacceptable. My experience could not have been worse, and I would rate American Home Shield at the absolute lowest end of the scale.

The garbage disposal at my home wasn't working for two weeks, and it turned out there was something stuck in it. When I submitted the claim online, I found the process pretty straightforward. I received a notification that the contractors were coming but didn't get a specific time. However, they did call about 20 minutes before arriving, and they showed up on time.

The contractor from Brick Street Plumbing was friendly and resolved both issues I had effectively. Currently, everything is functioning well. Although I've not compared American Home Shield to other services, I appreciate the assurance it provides—knowing that I can call and have something fixed when needed. While there are years I haven't used the service, having it feels similar to having insurance—it's good for peace of mind.

I had a deeply unsatisfactory experience with American Home Shield and their partnered service provider, Express Appliance. My stove top broke at the beginning of December, and despite promptly contacting American Home Shield on December 3rd, the service was far from acceptable. They assured me that Express Appliance would reach out within 24 hours to schedule a repair, but that call never came.

After numerous attempts to contact both American Home Shield and Express Appliance, I was constantly redirected between the two, with no one answering my calls or returning my messages. Persistent delays meant I was without a functioning stove during critical holiday periods, including my birthday and Christmas, forcing me to spend a significant amount on external food. Even after finally sending a technician, I was told a part had to be ordered, which revealed poor planning on their part, as technicians didn’t carry standard parts.

The repeated need to call and reschedule with no real outcomes was tiring and stressful. After multiple calls to both companies, it was clear that the customer service was inadequate—staff were difficult to understand due to language barriers, and promises were frequently broken with no resolution or intervention from supervisors.

This troubling experience was compounded by the fact that it wasn't my first encounter with American Home Shield's lackluster service, as my daughter had faced similar issues with her furnace. Given my ordeal, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as very poor, particularly due to the ineffective customer service and unjustifiable delays. The website setup for service requests was also frustratingly difficult to navigate, especially as a senior with visual impairments. There's no way you know how to call them. I had to dig deep through the web search to find the number to complain.

Overall, this experience has highlighted systemic issues with American Home Shield’s service processes and their partnership with Express Appliance. Proceed with caution if you're considering their services.

My recent experience with American Home Shield was great. I had an issue with my oven, and their service provider Premier Appliance, came out to fix it. The technician was excellent, quickly resolving the problem and even advising me to keep my older stove 'cause they're easier to repair. They last longer. The technician was very helpful and I'm glad he was the one who was sent out. I've been with American Home Shield for about five years, maybe longer, and I've always chosen to speak to their customer service directly rather than online. I'm not very tech-savvy and I would rather talk to somebody. I do everything on my phone. The customer service has been excellent, and I have no complaints.

If someone close to me was considering insurance, I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. They've been very helpful to me over the years. I've consistently had positive experiences with them and their service. Historically, I've been satisfied with the cost as well.

I have been using American Home Shield for over 20 years, but my recent experiences have left me less than satisfied. While the service technician, Brian, from Michael Robert Tyron Wolfe, was professional and explained everything thoroughly, I did experience some frustration with the overall process. When my heating system malfunctioned, it took about a week and a half for the necessary part to arrive after I had to follow up; this delay was inconvenient.

Initially, I filed the service online, but after the heater failed again, I had to call. While Brian came promptly once the part arrived, the delay was troubling. I find American Home Shield’s pricing structure to be problematic, as I've faced instances where simple parts were inexpensive, yet the service fee felt excessive. We had a plumbing under the sink, and that part probably was only $10, but I had to pay $100 just for them to come out. If it's not gonna total up to what we're paying for the person to come out, then we should pay less because we're already paying a yearly fee or monthly fee, so we shouldn't have to pay $100 just for somebody to come change a little small part under the sink.

The coverage details are also not clearly outlined. In past experiences, technicians have informed me on-site about unexpected additional costs, which were not clearly delineated in the contract. This lack of transparency has been a significant point of dissatisfaction.

Over the years, the price of the service has risen dramatically, jumping from approximately $60 to $83 monthly, which I feel is excessive, especially since I've been a loyal customer for two decades. I feel long-term customers should be acknowledged with some form of loyalty pricing or "grandfathered" rates. I was in fact considering switching to a different service provider, Liberty Home Guard.

Customer service interactions have been decent, deserving a moderate rating, but the overall expenses feel unjustified. The online service is quite user-friendly. However, I believe more thorough communication is needed to avoid surprises, and a reevaluation of the price structure could greatly enhance customer satisfaction.

My experience was incredibly frustrating when I needed a new faucet and reached out for American Home Shield's help. They sent a company called Rooter King to examine my faucet. The technician suggested I purchase a more expensive faucet through Amazon rather than using their basic nickel option. I agreed, and after buying the faucet from Amazon, was informed I would need to pay an additional $175 to $195 for installation, despite being initially told that installation would be free.

I called American Home Shield to address this miscommunication, but received little assistance. Eventually, they offered me a $150 "cash in lieu" option, which took two weeks to receive and didn't cover my costs. I hired a handyman to install it for $80, but was later informed that since he wasn’t their approved provider, faucets would be removed from my coverage if I renewed my contract.

I've had American Home Shield for years and I've never had issues, but this this experience left me feeling misled by them. This whole ordeal has been disheartening, especially since I pay $500 annually for their warranty. I found myself having to message and call repeatedly without proper resolution. As a result, I've decided to switch to Choice Home Warranty, as they provide a more personalized service with a single contact person, which is closer to what I need. Overall, although some aspects of their service were decent, the poor handling of this situation has pushed me toward a better alternative. With the other company, I have one person that I deal with the whole time. You're not speaking to five different people, which is another thing with American Home Shield's customer service.

I had a situation with my boiler pump that was making a terrible noise during a winter cold snap, rendering my heating system unusable. I had a private company diagnose the issue, and they quoted me a high price to fix it. Eventually, through American Home Shield, ARM Mechanicals came out, and although they had scheduling delays, when they arrived, they diagnosed and fixed the problem immediately with a spare part they had on hand.

The contractor was straightforward and focused on the job, without trying to upsell me on unnecessary things, which I appreciated. The new part they installed was silent and seemed to have improved the heating efficiency of our home.

Overall, my experience was positive, though I noted a minor inconvenience—it would have been nice if they had their own hose pipe instead of borrowing mine and leaving things a bit untidy. Nevertheless, I would rate the service 4.5 stars because of these minor issues.

American Home Shield has been quite helpful, especially during challenging times, such as when my water heater went out while I was dealing with a family emergency. It’s convenient to make a claim and have someone reliable come to the rescue without having to shop around for reputable local companies. It’s reassuring to have this service, especially with an old house and old appliances that I can’t afford to replace easily.

It's a service I would recommend to friends and family, especially if they have older homes. It's been a great way to have peace of mind without the hassle of dealing with overly aggressive sales tactics or fearmongering about costly repairs.

My experience with American Home Shield was positive notably when SWAT Plumbing came to fix my toilet issues. The plumber was professional and ensured the issue was resolved before leaving. I've also opened other service tickets, which are still pending.

Generally, my service experience depends on the contractor assigned. While SWAT Plumbing and Camden Appliance were excellent, others were not as impressive. But the customer service has improved in recent months, earning a rating of 4 out of 5 from me.

The coverage provided is commendable. However, the overall service cost garners a 3, due to a peculiar tax I was recently charged on a $100 service fee—something I hadn't encountered before with previous tickets. The representatives explained it as a tax for the city or state, which seemed inconsistent with my past experiences. I couldn't move forward without paying that tax to open the ticket and that never got resolved.

I used American Home Shield for a plumbing issue at my home. Mr. Rooter Plumbing came out to fix a leak in one toilet and reset another. They did a great job, diagnosing and repairing everything quickly.

Turnaround time is impressive, as I typically hear from the assigned contractor within 24 hours, and repairs happen within a couple of days. I haven't had any issues since the repair.

A friend highly recommended American Home Shield, and I've been with them since December 30, 2020. In my experience, I would give them 5 stars, and as a realtor, I often recommend American Home Shield to my clients.

I would rate their customer service 5 stars. I've had to contact them a few times, especially when my AC was down. My wife has issues with breathing and she's on oxygen. She can't be stuck without the AC. They expedited everything, got it taken care of in way less time than they originally had scheduled it for, and it was no extra charge. They had it taken care of rather quickly.

Regarding pricing, while I understand costs have increased, I wish it was more affordable. Initially, I paid less than $600 a year with $75 service calls. Because of this increase, I rate the pricing 4 stars. However, the online service remains easy to use and deserves 5 stars.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my experience and would recommend them based on their service and ease of use.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for a few years, mainly because I appreciated the peace of mind they offer in covering appliance repairs without the full out-of-pocket cost. However, my experience has been a mixed bag. Initially, I contacted them for a hot water heater issue, which was promptly resolved, and I was quite satisfied.

However, there was a significant issue with a claim I submitted when my heating went out last October. After reporting the problem to American Home Shield, they sent a technician who determined that a part needed to be ordered. Unfortunately, the wrong part was ordered, and weeks went by without any resolution or follow-up from the company. When I reached out, I was told that the part wasn't covered under my plan, which contradicted the terms I understood when taking out the policy. This lack of communication and the prolonged wait was highly frustrating, especially during the colder months.

Despite these challenges, the issue was eventually resolved when they sent another technician from Top Notch Home Services for the third time who fixed the heating. However, I was dissatisfied with the overall handling of the situation and the lengthy delay. Although my appliances are now functioning, my recent experience has made me cautious about recommending the service. Initially, I would have rated American Home Shield highly, but after this incident, I would give them a rating of 3 out of 5. I believe they have good intentions, but they need to improve their customer service and follow-up processes.

There have been other things that went out since I've had the coverage, but I didn't call them. When the second water heater went out, I did not even call American Home Shield. I just went ahead and had somebody come out here and fix it. I also lost a refrigerator and a freezer because the power went off and when it came back on, they didn't come back on. Both of these was out in the garage and I didn't notice it until my food had ruined. I didn't even call them about that. I just went ahead and did it on my own because I didn't want them to say I got too much stuff going on too close together.

I have been a member of American Home Shield since around 2003-2004. The service was initially quite affordable, which was appealing to me as a single female without anyone to handle household repairs. Discovered through TV advertisements, it promised coverage for various appliances, so I decided to give it a try.

The recent claim I had involved a malfunctioning dryer that wasn't heating. I found it easy to navigate the American Home Shield website to submit my claim. The contractor sent by them was prompt and efficient, though not very talkative. He identified and replaced a faulty heater mechanism quickly, finishing the job in about half an hour. Since the repair, the dryer is performing fine, although it doesn’t seem to get as hot as before. I haven't reported this yet, but I plan to since I believe there's a 30-day window for follow-ups.

I've had my share of ups and downs with their customer service. There was a particular instance where I was offered a $100 credit by a representative, which was not honored later, leaving me quite frustrated. This has made me consider other home warranty options, although the consistent and timely service calls from American Home Shield have kept me with them so far.

If asked to rate their service, I would give them a 5 for customer service, as they are often reachable over the phone and are prompt with response times. The price, however, would get a 3, as I feel it has risen significantly since I joined. Similarly, I'd rate the coverage the same because they've gradually introduced extra charges for previously included services like air conditioning.

I have recommended American Home Shield to my brother because of their reliability, although the continuous price hikes remain a concern. Overall, American Home Shield provides a good service, but potential customers should be mindful of the possible increase in fees over time.

I had an issue with my washing machine wherein it would stop in the middle of a cycle and not pump water out on certain cycles. When I try the speed wash cycle, it works, but the longer cycles cause the pump to overheat. A Sears technician came by, confirmed the pump was warped, and ordered a replacement part, which was delivered to my home. However, scheduling the follow-up service has been problematic. The technicians didn’t notify me before arriving even though they always said that they'll text me en route. They showed up at my house, and by the time I was informed, they had already left. Since then, I’ve been caught in a loop of phone tag and automated systems without reaching a live person, which has been frustrating.

The part is still sitting on my counter and I'm waiting for the technicians to show up, but all of a sudden, I got an email that said the work was done. It was not. I've called American Home Shield twice, and each time, they had a computer issue that I would have to call back at a different time. I haven't had a chance to call back since then.

I have had an American Home Shield policy close to seven years. I talked to a friend that used it and he said he always had good luck with it. I signed up and when I make a service request, I go on the app, then they normally send me an email. It works great, except for the Sears one. Anybody else I've ever had to use on it, like for plumbing services, it's worked perfectly. On Sears, I can't get ahold of anybody. I'm a little upset with trying to get ahold of someone. It's all automated. While American Home Shield's overall service has been good, the inconsistency with certain partnered companies like Sears has negatively impacted my experience.

I had an experience with American Home Shield when Casmech Heating came to fix our heating issues. While the repair itself was done well, the timeline could have been improved. They initially responded as soon as they could, but as a household with children, we needed someone much sooner. The performance of the technician was good, but the wait was a bit long. They managed to squeeze me in the next day, which I appreciated, but it shouldn't have taken that effort.

I usually reach out to American Home Shield over the phone. During the heating situation, the communication was lacking. They didn't communicate with the people they needed to communicate with and I had to arrange a three-way call myself to connect both parties because they weren’t coordinating well. It was frustrating, especially when the house was in dire need of heating. If I hadn't intervened, we might have been without it even longer.

If a friend asked me about my experience, I’d say that while I like using American Home Shield, my needs were not met when it came to my heating. My house went a while without having the proper stuff that it needed and I should not have to wait that long. The heating situation disgusted me. I didn't like the back and forth and the wait time to get everything fixed in the home was too long, considering we had to wait for heating for the winter months all the way to AC for the summer months. Their communication should be more prompt, and I felt disappointed they didn’t offer any sort of compensation or discount for the inconvenience.

I'd rate my overall experience with the heating situation as a 1 out of 5, the quality of service and customer service as a 3 out of 5, and their pricing as fairly high without any discounts for extended wait times. Their website could also use some improvement although I ended up rating it a 5 out of 5.

I've been using American Home Shield on and off for years, and overall, my experience has been positive. Submitting claims typically doesn't present issues, and while most contractors they send are really good, there was one instance where I found the contractor's attitude less than ideal when he complained about costs on a job. Despite that, I've been treated fairly and the service has been satisfactory, considering I live in an area that's somewhat remote, so accessing service isn't always straightforward.

While most of my interactions have been decent, I once encountered a communication issue regarding upgrading my plan. I wasn't initially told about an extra charge for the difference between the old and new plans, which led to some frustration. They ended up canceling my coverage. I waited about a month and I turned around and called back and got my coverage back. The $125 deductible is much more feasible than facing hundreds of dollars in appliance replacements, which makes the service worthwhile. Despite the hiccup with the sales communication, I still recommend American Home Shield for the peace of mind it affords me.

He's supposed to come out this morning. But they said the appliance store was closed. And we don't know for sure if the part came in or not.

I recently had a plumbing issue and reached out to American Home Shield. They were efficient in handling my request, sending the technician I specifically asked for, Premium One Plumbing, to resolve the problem. The issue was fixed within 48 hours, which I found impressive. I've developed a preference for Premium One Plumbing over time because other technicians sent by American Home Shield did not provide satisfactory results. However, securing a technician I trust can be challenging, as the company sometimes limits my options, leading to numerous calls to get the right person.

One frustration I have with American Home Shield is the scripted customer service experience. During emergencies, such as a plumbing crisis, the slow, scripted response can be aggravating. Additionally, while I understand that the representatives might be adhering to fixed procedures possibly due to language barriers, it elongates the process unnecessarily. Despite this, I hold multiple American Home Shield policies for my rental properties and generally recommend the service.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a plumbing issue at my house. My water heater went out and needed replacement. While American Home Shield assigned a plumber, the total cost of a new water heater was $5,000. I only received $1,400 in reimbursement from them, leaving me with a significant out-of-pocket expense. This was quite frustrating as I felt they should have covered more of the cost. In the end, I had to pay the bill myself and only received the $1,400 check from American Home Shield. In the past, the technicians they sent out were fine, but this reimbursement issue was disappointing.

I have been with American Home Shield for about five years. Overall, I find them to be a reliable company. They are quick to address issues, although some of the companies they send out for repairs aren't always the best. We had a plumbing issue with stopped-up bathtubs and running toilets, and they addressed it effectively. One thing I appreciate about American Home Shield is their consistent willingness to fix situations when problems arise. However, the pricing has doubled since we first started, and although we understand inflation, better communication regarding price increases would be appreciated. I would recommend them for their service of warranting and fixing appliances, although I did rate them a bit lower due to the pricing concerns.

I recently had a claim experience with American Home Shield regarding an electrical issue in my kitchen. The light went out in October, but there were numerous delays and miscommunications with American Home Shield that resulted in the repair being delayed until late December. Initially, it seemed the date of my claim had been altered in their system, which caused confusion. When I received a call in November, while on my way to take my husband for surgery, I was shocked to be told I needed to find my own repair technician, despite paying a monthly fee and additional service fees.

Even after several follow-ups in November, there was further inefficiency with the contractor. A major frustration was that we had to pay out of pocket for the light fixture and cover a $250 payment to the contractor because American Home Shield apparently hadn't paid him, which left us significantly out of pocket. The total cost was over $400, an expense we couldn't easily afford, especially since my husband is on a fixed income.

My past experiences with American Home Shield have been similar, albeit not always negative. A previous incident in January 2023 was slightly better, though incomplete, as we were promised a ceiling fan that never arrived. On a positive note, they did a commendable job fixing my refrigerator's ice maker in 2024. However, these few positive experiences don't outweigh the frustrations and stress caused by repeated negative incidents. While the last customer service representative I spoke with was helpful, most of my interactions with the customer service team were unsatisfactory and lacked concern.

I've had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding my appliances. My oven wasn't heating properly, so a tech came out, ordered parts, and installed them, yet it still didn't work. This cycle happened multiple times. The tech eventually claimed there was nothing wrong without even turning the oven on to test it. This same individual initially inspected three appliances and did not turn any of them on. My old dishwasher was replaced because he said he couldn't order parts without a serial number, although it was visible. A friend easily repaired the dishwasher for $12, but AHS replaced it at a cost of $800.

This was my first experience with American Home Shield. I used to have Sears Home Warranty and they changed to something else. After five years, I was through with them. It won't take that long with American Home Shield.

If I had to rate American Home Shield, I'd give them a 2 out of 5. The technician was polite, but their service process was unsatisfactory. Communication with their call centers, located in the Philippines, is challenging due to the accents. You get people who cannot speak straight English.

Our sink was leaking, and fortunately, it was just the garbage disposal that needed replacing. The tech came in and swapped it out quickly, with the entire process being smooth and efficient. I would rate the service a 10 out of 10 for the level of professionalism and promptness.

Submitting claims online with AHS is a breeze, and significantly more convenient than waiting on hold. Once a claim is filed, I receive an email with payment details and notification that a tech will contact me within 24 hours to schedule a visit. Their website is also particularly user-friendly, probably among the best I've encountered.

I have used AHS for about 25 years, and while I considered canceling due to infrequent use, the reliability and excellent service quality have always justified keeping it. Even amidst some negative reviews I've heard recently, I have no bad things to say about them at all.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite a nightmare. Back in October, we faced issues with our unique washing machine, which has top and front load features. The mechanism that locks the top load malfunctioned, preventing proper operation. Expecting a simple fix, I paid the deductible and had A&E, a local vendor and affiliate of Sears, come out. The first technician spent about 20 minutes troubleshooting and ordered parts, but when a second technician came the following week, things got worse. He damaged the machine even further, causing leaks and inoperative features.

The problem spiraled out of control with missed appointments from A&E, leading to multiple calls to both A&E and American Home Shield. A major issue I faced was American Home Shield's customer service, which seemed to follow a scripted dialogue without any true understanding of the situation. Despite my insistence to change vendors due to A&E's incompetence, American Home Shield refused, further delaying the process. Finally, I contacted two independent repair companies, and the third technician informed me that the internal drum was damaged beyond repair unless shipped back to the manufacturer.

This whole ordeal left my family without a washing machine, which was extremely inconvenient. Although I eventually had to buy a replacement machine at my own expense, American Home Shield later reimbursed me with an amount that was still $400 short of the actual cost. Overall, my frustration lies with American Home Shield's protocol, which they rigidly follow without deviation, ignoring my complaints about their chosen third-party vendors. They eventually make good on claims when provided with proper documentation, but the path to resolution is extremely convoluted.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield when dealing with a claim for my Amana side-by-side refrigerator freezer. Initially, they sent a contractor from Sloan Appliance, but the process was delayed, taking over two weeks for the first technician to arrive. The technician diagnosed a faulty compressor and came back a week later with another compressor. But I called him back a few days later and told him the unit was not getting cold. He came back and said the compressor he put in was bad and he would order another one. I went without a compressor until the end of November. JD Appliance Repair Services finally sent a guy to fix it. But they put three compressors in my Amana freezer.

What was particularly frustrating was the lengthy process without resolution, and I was left without a functioning refrigerator from August until the end of November. This situation was especially difficult for me due to my health issues, including cancer and stage 3 chronic kidney disease, as it meant I had to find alternative ways to store food, often relying on others to help. Despite these difficulties, at the end of this ordeal, American Home Shield refunded my $125 deductible. But they said they would waive my January payment but I was charged for it. I have been with them for over 10 years, originally choosing their service based on recommendations from family who had positive experiences. However, this incident left me feeling dissatisfied with the support and service provided.

The repair person they sent failed to promptly notify the company and didn't send in the necessary paperwork detailing the repairs needed. This led to a series of miscommunications, where I was left waiting for a response and had to repeatedly explain that the repair person had already visited my home. I ended up writing a complaint to the president of American Home Shield, which finally pushed the company to address the issue. Unfortunately, the parts needed for the repair were unavailable, leading to further delays and frustration. After a lengthy back-and-forth with multiple departments, it was determined that my refrigerator freezer needed to be replaced.

However, the replacement models offered by American Home Shield either didn't fit the space in my kitchen or were much smaller than my original unit. After much negotiation, I was offered a cash settlement, which sadly wasn't enough to cover a full replacement. Throughout this ordeal, there were numerous communications between myself, the company's executives, and their departments. Despite my dissatisfaction with their service, I chose to continue my contract with them truthfully because I feel like I need some coverage for potential major repair bills. In my opinion, American Home Shield is the best of the worst in the home warranty industry. It seems that every major repair request ends up being a battle to get adequate coverage, which is quite frustrating.

I've been with American Home Shield since 1976, originally because it was a reliable service when I purchased my first home. However, as the company has expanded, the quality seems to have diminished. Filing a service request is easy as they promptly pick up calls and get the necessary details to send a vendor. The vendors are generally excellent, doing good work and arriving as scheduled, which is one reason I remained a customer for so long. Unfortunately, over the past five years, I've noticed a decline in service quality. For instance, I've had ongoing issues with my central heating boiler since November, and despite many promises from American Home Shield, there has been no resolution. They took a little while to find the vendor. I gave them the name of one that I used in the past but for some reason, they didn't want to use them again.

The guy that AHS sent came out and said he needed to make a report to them to get service authorized and it would take a week. Three weeks went by and there was no report. The vendor didn't answer his phone. You couldn't even leave a message half the time. And when I got American Home Shield back on it, each week they promised they were gonna get the report but they didn't. Months have gone by, my heat is going downhill. It's still providing some heat, but it's not like it should be. Everyone I speak to is nice, but effective action seems lacking, making this frustrating compared to their earlier service standards.

In terms of their customer service, the representatives are pleasant but not always effective, which impacts my overall experience. The warranty and coverage are pretty good, though they have shrunk over time. However, considering the rising costs, my satisfaction with the pricing is low at this point.

I recently encountered an issue with my lighting fixture, where the box holding it in the ceiling broke, leaving the fixture hanging. Although American Home Shield sent a technician, they did not cover the repair, stating that broken boxes are not included in their coverage. This was the first instance where my claim wasn't resolved. Previously, I had similar issues with outlets; downstairs, an electrician replaced them without much hassle, but the technician refused to address the outlets upstairs, even though they couldn't hold plugs properly.

I was frustrated because the past service was smooth, and the technician made an effort to fix the issues. However, in this case, the technician didn't even submit the issue to American Home Shield, stating they wouldn't cover it. Despite these challenges, I would still rate American Home Shield 4 stars based on my overall experiences with them so far.

They quickly take down my information and dispatch someone as soon as possible. I genuinely appreciate their service and have even recommended them to several friends. Although there are more cost-effective options out there, I find the quality of service American Home Shield provides to be worth every penny. I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about 10 years now, and overall, my experience has been positive. Recently, I had an issue with a leak in my home, and Silver Star Appliances was dispatched to address it. Initially, they thought it was one problem, but the leak persisted. They returned promptly, diagnosed the issue correctly, obtained the necessary parts, and fixed the problem effectively. The appliance runs perfectly now, which was great service on their part.

I interact with American Home Shield through their online request portal, which I find very efficient. Typically, they are quick to dispatch service providers to resolve issues, usually within a day or two. This system seems to work well and suits my needs.

I believe American Home Shield offers good value, especially for those who might not be particularly handy or who want extra coverage and protection. Even though the cost has increased by around $50 in the last couple of years, they offer various plans that can accommodate different budgets based on the extent of coverage desired.

In terms of customer service, I've been satisfied, rating them a 5 out of 5 in this regard. Pricing, on the other hand, I'd rate as a 3 or 4 due to the rising costs, although the sliding scale of coverage options does provide some flexibility. If asked, I would recommend American Home Shield for their reliability and service efficiency.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when my dishwasher's heating element broke down. I contacted them to report the issue, and they promptly sent a repair person from Austin Appliance LLC the next morning. The technician was professional and courteous, and my wife and I were both satisfied with the service. Someone also came in and did something for my shower. Those were two different things but it was within a period of time.

The claim process was straightforward. I just called the company, and they took care of everything, including sending the contractor. We didn't have to pay anything directly to the technician; it was all handled through American Home Shield. They've provided consistent and reliable service, whether it’s for the dishwasher or other appliances like our air conditioning system.

We've been with American Home Shield since my wife and I had our house built. She was in the military then, and having a dependable home warranty was essential for us, especially with kids at home while she was overseas. Their service has been very thorough, and the staff, both in person and on the phone, have always been friendly and efficient. The people who answer the phone in the morning time or late at night are there to help. They talk to you about who you are, and where you are, and they make sure you get your paperwork done, and they tell you they have somebody right along with that.

Overall, we're delighted with their promptness and professionalism, which gives us peace of mind knowing our home is covered.

I have been experiencing a long and frustrating ordeal with American Home Shield regarding my pool repair. Since September, I've been waiting for my pool pump to be fixed. Unified, the contractor sent by American Home Shield, attempted to replace the pump several times, each attempt failing as the parts did not fit. It was confusing and aggravating, especially when I discovered that Unified holds an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Ultimately, they installed a part I suspect was used, as it was poorly painted and clearly old under inspection. My pool technician, who is licensed and bonded, pointed out that they cut off my temperature sensor during installation and failed to reattach it, which he identified as against the law. When AHS sent Unified back out to check that pump, they're now saying that there's nothing wrong with the pump but there's an issue with my plumbing. But that was never said before. So, it's suspicious. My pool guy has never said there's an issue with my plumbing. It's always been the pump. So all of this is just sketchy. And I wish AHS would put a better lens on that. I've been a customer off and on for many years and this is not good service or treatment.

When I informed American Home Shield of these issues, they insisted on sending Unified back to check the pump, which seemed pointless as they were unlikely to admit fault. I argued against this decision and now, after rescheduling due to power outages, a different company named Upland is supposed to address the issue.

Throughout this ordeal, American Home Shield's customer service has been lacking. Some of the representatives that I've spoken with, to the best of their ability, have tried to be helpful. But when I tried to escalate this situation to management, I had someone who didn't speak English very well call me on a couple of occasions. I'm not a person who cares about that. But when dealing with customer service, we have to have people working who have effective communication. Because that's a big part of the business that they have. Communication barriers with their representatives have added to my frustration, with some supervisors showing little understanding or concern. I was talking to this supervisor and he acted like he didn’t understand what I was explaining to him. Moreover, I was warned that the replacement part was an "off-brand," yet my request for a comparable brand was disregarded.

I've been a long-time customer with American Home Shield, but this experience has diminished my trust. Their processes need significant improvement to avoid such distressing situations for clients.

I've had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. Initially, I had a difficult time getting my refrigerator repaired due to the contractor assigned to me going out of business. This delay extended nearly 15 months, which was quite frustrating. However, once I insisted on having someone come immediately, they dispatched a technician from the Midland area who resolved the issue quickly with parts on hand, completing everything within a week.

While the customer service over the phone is excellent, the quality of contractors can vary. The first contractor was unreliable and I wouldn't recommend them for any repairs. In contrast, the contractor from Midland was professional and efficient. Overall, despite the initial hurdles, I decided to stick with American Home Shield after comparing options like Consumers Power and finding them to be the better choice. I've had a tremendously frustrating experience with American Home Shield. Initially, their assigned contractor that installed the new AC unit had to return multiple times. The first technician unjustly removed my thermostat without consent, assuming it was causing the problem. It was later reinstalled by a technician from Nova HVAC LLC, who arrived without knowing why he was even there, showing poor communication skills.

Both technicians failed to review the diagram from the thermostat's company. Instead, they proudly discussed their experiences, which added to my frustration since this issue has persisted since February. During the last visit, the technician from Nova promised to write a report on my behalf due to American Home Shield's policy of not accepting customer-generated documentation. However, when he saw me speaking to American Home Shield, he refused to hand over the report, and even slammed my door. I cannot get any cooperation from American Home Shield.

Though the AC is currently operational, it's not installed as per the company's instructions, and I couldn't get a straight answer about it. This continual mismanagement and lack of accountability pushed me to decide to cancel my policy, effective January 31. Additionally, American Home Shield's refusal to accept customer communications or allow us to speak with their authorization department added to my exasperation. The Nova technician may have been thorough and tested the installations well, but was unapproachable and dismissive when I sought clarity.

I would unequivocally rate American Home Shield a 1 star.

I recently had a service experience with American Home Shield regarding my washing machine. The washer, which is just over a year old, broke when a plastic latch snapped off. The technician from American Home Shield came promptly, identified the issue within minutes, and promised to order the necessary parts. True to his word, he returned with the parts and fixed the washer efficiently, taking only about 20 minutes. I was genuinely impressed with the service and the warranty coverage provided.

However, my experiences with them haven't always been flawless. We once had an issue with a shower leak above our master bedroom, which was initially improperly repaired by the first contractor. This led to a prolonged issue that necessitated another contractor's intervention. Unfortunately, American Home Shield insisted on charging me for two separate service calls, despite the fact that the second issue was a result of the first one being inadequately addressed. After filing a complaint, we managed to resolve the issue, but it was cumbersome.

Overall, while there's some room for improvement, especially regarding their policy on charges for follow-up service calls, I've found value in their service. They've come through for me on several occasions, saving me money on significant appliance repairs and replacements. I'd rate them around 3.5 to 4 stars, as I've ultimately saved money with their coverage.

Unfortunately, my recent experience has been quite disappointing. My oven broke down in November, right before Thanksgiving, but a technician was able to fix it by replacing a fuse. However, the oven failed again two days before Christmas. This time, the technician assumed it was the control panel, which I later discovered was unavailable.

American Home Shield offered to replace the oven, but the model they suggested was out of stock and would be available in 4 weeks to 4 months. They made a cash offer, but it was insufficient to cover a replacement, and I am not satisfied with their lack of responsiveness or alternatives. I've been left to check daily on a linked webpage to see if the replacement model is available, but I've been doing this for 4 weeks now without a solution.

Though I have not had similar experiences in the past, and the service has always been good, this situation has left me highly dissatisfied. The customer service provided through phone calls has been poor, although the technician service was good. Currently, I am still waiting for a resolution to my problem, and my dissatisfaction with how this case has been handled leads me to rate American Home Shield poorly. They need to improve their handling of claiming processes, especially for long-term customers like myself.

I have been using American Home Shield for some time, and here's my experience. When my heating and air issue occurred, the contractor examined the vent system and identified flimsy construction, which affects the air circulation in various rooms like the laundry and closets. He noted that it was a builder's oversight and suggested making changes, but I haven't received any follow-up on this yet, despite his recommendation.

I usually submit issues as work orders rather than claims. They deduct a $100 fee, inspect the problem, and report back, although in this case, I'm still waiting on their response. The contractors that AHS provides are generally good, but for this specific issue, the resolution is pending.

As for the quality of past contractors, some have been effective, such as when I upgraded the home system's units, yet there seems to have been some mix-up regarding warranty terms. The builder visited multiple times without resolving it. Despite this, I trust my home warranty to address it eventually.

When considering American Home Shield, I would rate my overall experience a 5. They've generally fulfilled their commitments. I started using their service when selling our last house; it became necessary for the sale. They come through for most repairs at just a $100 charge, which is reasonable.

Their customer service is reliable, processing requests smoothly and coordinating with contractors effectively. They take your order and information, send it out to the contractor they’re gonna have come over here. Then, you get a call saying they’re coming, and then they go from there. I haven't explored their website much since our real estate agent initially handled everything. Nonetheless, for my needs, they have been satisfactory. I genuinely find the AHS coverage and service quite accommodating.

I recently had a rather disappointing experience with American Home Shield. I attempted to schedule a service call for a clogged kitchen sink and it took me a week to get an appointment. When I made the appointment, it was on Christmas day, so I understood that. Someone accepted the appointment, then they put me on a four-day hiatus. When I canceled the appointment, American Home Shield put me back in the queue for a different service provider, which pushed things out further. They did not explain that to me. So, for a week, I couldn't use my kitchen during the holiday.

When I called Home Shield, the customer service representative I spoke to was quite rude, and even after escalating the issue to a supervisor, my problem wasn't resolved. The supervisor called the new service vendor that picked up the request, but they did the same thing. Their office was closed. Prior to this incident, I had used American Home Shield once for a refrigerator issue. Back then, they were attentive and on point. Even though they had to come out five times, they got the job done. I was thoroughly impressed. On the other hand, the recent incident was handled poorly. After I got the service request for my kitchen sink taken care of, I canceled American Home Shield. Even though the service was good, the call in was not.

I rated American Home Shield a 2 out of 5 due to this experience. I used the home warranty twice the whole time I had them, which was over two years. That was my quandary. I've been paying for two years and when I needed them and it was time for me to use them, they dropped the ball. Although their coverage was good, the price per service call was steep at $125, especially compared to another warranty company I switched to, which charges only $75 per call. Both companies do the exact same thing. The new company even offers bigger discounts for advance payments, making it a more economical choice for me. My fee for American Home Shield was $52 a month, plus the additional fee if I request a service. I got a notice in January, which was when I got ready to cancel American Home Shield, that their rate had went up to 62. With this new company, I'm paying $1,400 for three years and my rate is locked in.

Additionally, the contractor went above and beyond by advising me on a separate issue with my ceiling, which turned out to be related to a vent on my roof. He even suggested who I could call to address that concern.

I've found that American Home Shield truly does what they promise and on time. People can't go wrong with them. The price is reasonable, and their customer service has never disappointed me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends or family, as I've always received top-notch service from them.

I've had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. My most recent claim went surprisingly well. Our washer broke down, and within a couple of days, they had someone there, which was much faster than usual. Typically, it takes a month for them to get back the report back to determine whether or not we will get a replacement for whatever is broken down, but this time it took about a week, and we received a reimbursement within a couple of days. We were able to get a washer. This last time was the first time that American Home Shield did things in the right direction.

In the past, the process was frustrating. American Home Shield usually assigns a Sears company that comes from Virginia. There was an instance wherein a repair technician showed up and told American Home Shield that we weren't home, but they never even checked. I have a camera there. They saw that there was no vehicle and nobody called or knocked. We had to actively follow up for updates as well. American Home Shield told me it would be 24 hours before I get an update and sometimes I don't get one, then I have to chat with somebody to see if it's been processed. I've also had to threaten to have legal actions take place, and then it gets taken care of.

Regarding the repairs, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster. In some cases, things improved after the repair, like when our washer was replaced. However, the replacement also had issues as soon as we got it, so we had to get another washer again. Overall, I’d say things tend to be better than before, but in some cases, it hasn't been the best.

From my experience, I'd rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5 overall. The product coverage is a 4, and the same goes for pricing. Their online tools, including their app and website, deserve a rating of 5.

Recently, my heater and air conditioner unit went out. Although there were a few complications wherein the repair didn't work, American Home Shield was quick to respond and resolved the issue. After the second or third visit, everything was fixed, and since then, I've had no problems. I find their service very professional and am quite happy with it. The cost is a bit high, which I would rate as a three, but overall, I would give American Home Shield a five for their customer service, warranty, and coverage. I haven't used their online tools, so I can't comment on those.

I had an experience with American Home Shield when Northwest Electric Inc. was sent to resolve an electrical issue in my home. I was impressed by their service; they arrived and fixed the problem the same day, repairing a ground wire that was causing issues with the outlets. It took about a week and a half for American Home Shield to dispatch someone, which was not immediate but still reasonable. I've consistently had good experiences with the technicians they've provided.

One area for improvement is updating the contact information for Northwest Electric on the American Home Shield website, as it was incorrect. Overall, I'm satisfied with the service and would recommend it.

I've been with American Home Shield for about three years. I think I first heard about them through a TV advertisement, or perhaps I found them while searching for good insurance companies on Google. Over the years I've been with them, I've used their warranty service three times. They've replaced my water heater, repaired my furnace, and assisted with a drain issue, which turned out to be more of a maintenance lesson on how to clean it.

The contractors American Home Shield sends have always been reliable, and I've not faced any recurring issues with their repairs. We did have repeated visits for our furnace issue this year, but that was more due to our own meddling rather than their fault. My husband kept fixing our furnace before they got here, so they couldn't figure out what was wrong. It wasn't like it just stopped. It was on for a few weeks then it was off again. Each time, American Home Shield promptly sent someone out, which I appreciated.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield; I'd rate them a 5 out of 5. The customer service is excellent, and the coverage the warranty included is comprehensive. I find the price reasonable, especially considering the savings and peace of mind it provides as an insurance. I am entirely satisfied with their service.

I have used American Home Shield for about four years, and I recently had an issue with my dryer. I typically reach out to American Home Shield through an online service request. For straightforward issues, the process is quite smooth. You submit your request, select the appliance in question, pay the deductible, and within about 24 hours, a vendor is assigned to you. The vendor then contacts you to proceed with the service.

However, complications arise if the part needed for repair is not covered by the warranty. This can be time-consuming as you have to go back and forth with American Home Shield. But when things go well, they do go well.

Overall, I would rate my experience as a 4 out of 5. Pricing is a bit of a concern as they keep increasing rates, so I’d give that a 4. I must say their website is efficient for setting up a request and deserves a 5.

American Home Shield is a good organization. They respond quickly when a claim is submitted and set me up with a service person, then they send an email, which I appreciate. It shows who will be calling, generally within 24 hours or that same working day if it's an early appointment. All service personnel they send have been excellent, but I prefer Cool Blue. I've sent American Home Shield a letter years ago that that's who I'd really like every time, but that's not always possible. They said people come up in a rotating list.

In terms of post-repair performance, everything seems to hold up well. I have some rental properties, so I inform my tenants to monitor any issues for about 30 days after a repair. I let the tenant know that it'll be repaired free of charge if it should break down within 30 days. I keep a note on my calendar to watch it as well, but I've never had to call American Home Shield back for anything.

I find the service generally good and appreciate their pricing adjustments. Although the service fee increased from $69 to $100, they decreased the monthly fee, which balances out financially.

Overall, I’m quite satisfied with American Home Shield and their service.

I have Platinum AHS home warranty. On September 2023, I requested a service on my washing machine for not spinning to dry and wet clothes. AHS sent Sears, fixed it and it worked again. On January 7, 2025, I again have the same problem of the same washer not spinning to dry and stays wet clothes, Sear’s tech came today and said the washer needs to be replaced. AHS will contact me about replacement. AHS denied due to misuse and overload based on the same problem. One of AHS technician told me before if it easy to get approve for work order less than $200 but anything more, AHS will find a way to deny it. It seemed to be true in this case with the same washer with the same problem but replacing it is denied. This problem too is on the top 6 problem of this Whirlpool model which proves more not misuse nor overload.

The problem was the same as 2023- not spinning, wet clothes and it was covered but this time, it was concluded I misused the washer based on the problem. When we bought this house in 2017, the washer was already here and been using it since. It will not last that long if I misuse it or overload for a weekly 2 load-1 for whites and 1 for colors for one person when I seldom use large load for not even filling up half the load.

This is what I found online that the problem is result of normal wear and tear as mentioned here. “The Washer Drive Block is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is situated between the washer's transmission and the inner tub, playing a key role in transferring the rotational motion from the motor to the tub. Causes for replacement often stem from normal wear and tear, which can lead to the drive block becoming worn or damaged.”

I had AHS for several years. My experiences with claims were, at times, very difficult to get accomplished. When my refrigerator was leaking through the back forming a block of ice, I immediately filed a claim. Their service technicians first dismissed it as a known defect that should have been covered by the manufacturer. I responded to AHS by proving that there was no known defect issued by the government or the manufacturer. Then I was told that the refrigerator was recalled. I had to call the manufacturer to provide an email stating that no such recall was issued. I finally got the Better Business Bureau involved. After several months, AHS relented and provided a coupon to Lowe's for a replacement refrigerator.

My next interaction with AHS was for a repair or replacement of a cracked toilet bowl. I was first told it was not covered because it was not leaking. Then I was told that it was abnormal use and abused. The toilet was 13 years old. How does one "abuse" a toilet? My final thoughts... be prepared to fight for claims you feel are unjustly denied. It may takes weeks or months for you to get a claim processed.

Our Hot Water Heater began leaking with major water loss (thousands of gallons a day). We shutoff the water to the unit, turned off the breaker, then called AHS to open a Service Request, paid the $100 Service Fee, and AHS sent a technician out, who told us the unit was not repairable and would need to be replaced, which would likely take a week or more. Delays are normal in warranty repairs, so while we were disappointed, we accepted the time frame. Then the estimate showed up with $450 in non covered repairs. We questioned what they were for and were told replacing the drain pan (working fine), the shutoff valve (working great), T&P Drain (fully functional) and permit and inspection fees.

The technician claimed this was all required by Code but we checked with the county and got a written reply that none of the parts listed had to me replaced due to Code unless they were damaged (which they were not). The technician refused to install without the parts, insisting they were required by Code even though the county said otherwise. We asked for a different technician or a second opinion. AHS refused to allow us to change service providers or get a second opinion even though we offered to pay a second Service Fee of $100. All they would allow was a cash payment which was less than we could hire a plumber for.

In essence AHS and this technician were falsely claiming additional costs were required, and then holding our insurance claim hostage, trying to force us to allow and pay for replacement of parts that have nothing wrong with them. AHS does have good coverage on paper, but they are allowing their contractors to force their customers to pay for unnecessary upgrades they falsely claim are required by Code. If you get an AHS contract and open a Service Request, when the estimate arrives be prepared for unjustified non covered charges, which if you refuse to pay, your service will not be completed.

After taking my order, they promised to have a reply in 24 hrs. 72 hrs later I called for an update. They explained they have no plumbers in my area. If I find a plumber that meets their qualifications, I could either get them signed up with AHS or they would reimburse me. I call a few and no one wanted to deal with AHS. So I paid out of pocket with no reimbursement. I had to ask for my $100 deductible returned.

Second call was when my waterline broke under the house. Again, still no plumbers available. Again I had to ASK for my $100 deductible be returned. (They never offer the return, you must ask) My third request was when our range failed. They had a service tech from Sears about a week later. Ended up replacing with new. Total time 2 weeks. But, at least I got my warranty handled.

My last request is when my furnace stopped working. (Keep in mind, I'm now 5 years as a customer of AHS. No available service techs and again asked that I find someone. So, I decided to try. No one except Sears would deal with AHS. I asked why and they ALL said the same thing. It takes months and months to get paid from AHS. Why tell someone we cover your area if you don't. And they DO NOT go out of their way to help. I'm cancelling my association with these people and I strongly suggest you put that $90 a month in a savings account and pay the contractor yourself. There's no assurances from AHS.

I like the convenience of saving money with American Home Shield. They save a lot of money over a period of time. If an appliance goes, they'll fix it and there's no question about it. I had Cinch Home Services before and they got pretty bad contractors come in and work on stuff. But with American Home Shield, they seem to stay with a good clientele of contractors as far as the AC goes. American Home Shield is a pretty good company. My main concern with Cinch was what they were not going to pay. But since we used American Home Shield, they've been very good and that's not a worry in my mind. They cover pretty much everything. It was pleasant working with them. They help protect your home. We pay them monthly to have the service, and then it's a $125 service fee if we have a call. But when it comes down to a large appliance, it's worth every nickel that you invest in.

American Home Shield sent Menaci Design Drywall out. Their guy came and did the drywall. It's on the ceiling of my family room. He put a piece of drywall, secured it, and then used the drywall stuff to fill it in. But the way that it dried created these two channels, about 12 inches. It's not smooth. I understand they're not gonna put the texture like I have on my ceiling, but I would expect that it would be at least even and smooth. That's not what it looks like. There's a huge channel divot on the right side. And then on the left side where he added the drywall to fill the hole, it’s at an angle. It looks really bad.

I put in a request for someone to come back out. I had talked to someone who took the information. I even sent pictures to show what it looked like once it dried and why it was not acceptable. AHS supposedly opened up a ticket to get the guys to come back out, but there was no follow-up and no one has come out from the vendor to repair.

The claim process with AHS is okay. I'm paying for the Gold, so it's not the lowest level. I don't know if, in the end, it's worth it. I'm due for renewal, so I'm contemplating whether or not to renew. On that call, my shower on the second floor was leaking, and that was what caused me to have the plumber come out through American Home Shield. I paid the 125 for the plumber to come out. He charged me an additional 125 to cut a hole in the ceiling. He sealed the shower upstairs, and that seemed to take care of the leak. Then, I ended up with a half-baked drywall solution. So, I'm not very happy to be out of 250 and the job not really being done, and then to keep going back and hassling either the vendor or American Home Shield. I'm busy at work, so that's why I haven't had a chance to call back to try to get it addressed.

I tried to fix it myself, but couldn’t. I called American Home Shield. Service One Air came out and they were able to take care of it. Everything's running perfectly now. It was corrosion around a couple of components. It was causing it to trip, that was why it wasn't working.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield when my air conditioner stopped working. Before I called them, I did a little investigating myself, and I opened up the unit inside my house to see if there's something that was burnt or the fuse on the circuit breaker, if that just was bad and I could replace that. I didn't find anything, so I went ahead and called them. When I called them, I decided, “Why should I close up my air conditioner unit that was in the house, because they're just going to open up the panel again?” It was just the front panel that I took off. So the guy came out and said, “Why? Probably cause something.” because I opened up the front panel, which was not the case.

I asked for a copy of the report, and they said they couldn't give it to me online. They could mail it through the US Mail. They said, "It'll take 5 to 14 business days to get it to you.” I told them that was ridiculous. They get the information a lot quicker from their people. I asked them, "Can't you just email me the report from the company that came out and checked my unit?” They said, “No, it's against California state laws,” which I find very hard to believe.

I've kept American Home Shield as a backup for myself. So far, I haven't had any issues except for one that currently came up. I really wanted the appliance to be replaced because it was breaking on the outside. It still is and then on the inside, the mechanicals weren't working. I was trying to get to the bottom of possibly changing it out because it is old. It's an appliance that's 10 years old, so it's been worn and torn. I was trying to get to that answer, and the tech couldn't come up with that. He's gonna fix it and replace the parts on the inside.

I felt like I was pushed into letting him replace the parts on the inside and letting him go. I didn't feel secure that the appliance was gonna continue to work properly, which I still am on the hats about because when he was running it, it still sounded funny. I didn't prefer Aurora Appliance as a company at all, and I wish we could pick our own companies. I rather know somebody who's gonna do the job correctly than have somebody just come and do it.

We had a challenge with our refrigerator and made a claim on the actual seal to the refrigerator and then the drawer that kept rolling out when you opened the fridge door. You wouldn't have to touch it, but it just rolled out like it was warped or something was broken. We're still waiting for American Home Shield to come back on what the cost would be after months. This is repeated follow-ups with American Home Shield, and then directly with the agency that came out. We had to resend pictures to them and sent them pictures of what they looked at. The owner was supposed to call us back but never did.

It's been three weeks now and we don't know that the claim was written up from them. We paid $100 for the deductible, the contractor came out and they wrote it up and said it was just damaged, like it was our fault. We just bought the home a year ago and it has always done that, but we didn't figure on making a claim. It didn't bother us until recently. We started filling up the fridge more, and then it is more of a nuisance now. We don't know why it was categorized the way that it was. They just said they wouldn't fix it because it was our fault. But when we made previous claims on other items in the home, it was fixed without challenge, and it's the same thing.

We inquired about getting a second opinion and American Home Shield said, "Hey, no problem. You could get another vendor to come out and they can re-evaluate it, but you're gonna have to pay us $100 for another claim. Or another $100 and if they say, 'Hey, no, it's your guys' fault,' then you still have to pay the $100. But if we send somebody out and they say it's normal wear and tear and it's your fault, then you have to pay the $100, still have to pay the $100. And then, if it isn't your fault and we'll subtract that $100." We didn't want to do that. So, at the end of the day, we said, "You know what? Okay, fine."

The vendor said it was going to cost $100 to fix out of pocket. We said, "Okay. 100 bucks. No problem. Go ahead and do it." But then we didn't hear from the vendor. I called American Home Shield and said, "Hey, what's going on? Are they gonna call me back?" They asked me what was the problem. So I told them, "Well, he said it was $100." They said, "Okay."

The vendor got on the phone with American Home Shield and I was on hold. American Home Shield got back to me and said, "Well, the labor would be just $100, but then the parts would be more and they would give you an estimate and they'll send you an email." I said, "Okay, great." But they never did. That was when I followed up with the vendor and sent them the pictures. They obviously forgot about the claim. I had to resend pictures, and then never heard from them.

This is our third claim in two years with American Home Shield. We renewed our policy because we were happy. But since we've renewed our policy, I would not refer them to anybody. It almost feels like we've made too many claims and now they're Mickey Mousing us on something that is broken and it's clearly covered in the contract. Also, I'd like to improve the quality of contract agencies that go to your home in terms of customer service and response.

They had a period when they had very poor contractors, even one plumber showed up who didn't have a license when I checked it. I have recently been having trouble getting into my account. I called the other day about it, and AHS told me that they were working on it. The whole display panel of the microwave did not work. So, the tech replaced it. He was very professional, friendly, and knew what he was doing. The first part was incorrect. The second part came in, and he fixed it. It worked fine.

It was a 50,000 water heater and AHS put a 30,000 one in, which was a cheap way out. I raised hell with the plumber and he said AHS buys the water heaters and ships them to them. It's a way of saving money and I get it but it's not a great service. It’s not a bad service as well. If you can't do anything for yourself, then you should get insurance. They sent an email as well. The tech who came out was excellent. They had to order a part then he came back and fixed the unit. It's been working fine since then. I filed that claim on December 10th and it was finished on December 31st. But they had to order a part and holidays was in there. So, that delayed some of it. He also came out and examined my split unit that went out. He determined that he couldn’t fix it and that it needed to be replaced. So that was what he did.

Our oven did not heat up. Once I submitted the claim on the American Home Shield website, it said that it had been assigned to Atlanta Agile Repair, and it had their phone number on there. The positives were, they had the part and they fixed it immediately. And so, that was all good. Because normally, they have to order parts. But the only thing I didn't like, and I didn't give any negative on the feedback, but it took a few days to get them out here. And I tried to call them first thing in the morning the next day after I knew that they were assigned to me.

I called early, and it said, “Call back at 8:00. They're open at 8:00.” So I literally called at 8:00. At that point, they said, “Well, we don't have you in our system yet. Because our system has to run some software to get all the assignments from American Home Shield. And that takes an hour or two.” They said they'd call me back. I waited two hours and they hadn't called back. So I called back again, spoke to someone else, and that person said, “Yeah, here we are.” Then he got me assigned.

It was 10:00 in the morning, so all their trucks are out. It took another couple days to get them to come out here. There was a snow storm. I don't know how they were scheduling with a snowstorm due to come the next day, and it did hit. But I called Thursday morning, hoping we could get them out here on a Thursday morning. They actually came out on the next Tuesday. So we were without an oven for five days. So that's the negative.

The positive was when they got here, they had the part and they fixed it. They were very pleasant to deal with. The gentleman that came out was excellent and very fast. I've dealt with other vendors from Home Shield that didn't speak English, and this person does speak English. He's actually been out here twice. He also fixed our dryer and did a good job. Overall, I’d give him good ratings. But it'd just be nice if I could have gotten out here sooner.

But it turned out they weren’t going to and the problem couldn’t be fixed, and it was my problem. When I kept fighting with them, I told them finally that I was going to hire a different appliance company to come in.

AHS finally called me and sent another appliance guy from whoever they use and the guy fixed it in two seconds. I haven't had a problem since but the whole disaster before it was very uncalled for, and I let them know that. They offered me back the service fee that I had to pay but when you're taking off five days of work, not for nothing, that doesn't cover my days of missing work. The claim was fine and AHS sent somebody right away but who they have working for them is a whole other situation. I've been in business for 30 years because I don't treat my clients like that. I’m annoyed with how AHS handled the situation.

My husband didn’t have any complaints with the most recent technician and the prior ones have been helpful and conscientious, and seemed to know what they were doing. AHS should stop increasing the premium though. It has doubled. AHS is in the business to save as much money as they can but it takes at least three times for technicians to address the problem before AHS will replace the appliance. So, that gets a little frustrating. Right now, this furnace is 20-plus years old and they’ve put a Band-Aid on it. It's functioning but not in a very efficient manner. So, we are gonna have to wait till it completely poops out before we can get a different one.

I have 15 years' worth of experience with AHS and it was never easy. When they say they will replace something, they won't. They will give me some discounted rate. They will say, "I'll give you $100 in lieu of having to fix and you go fix it yourself." They may be able to buy that part for $100 because they're a big consumer of plumbing equipment. I couldn't buy it for $100. So, it's a rip-off.

Alvarez Plumbing took care of nothing. I had a recirculating pump on my water heater that went out. They were pegged by American Home Shield to come and fix it. They came and said we needed a new one. They went about their business, wrote their report. The report came back that I would have to pay $526 for some modifications to make this thing fit, to put a new one in. And I said, "You gotta be kidding me." You take one out and put the other one in. There's nothing to it. And we went round and round. They're unethical. They lie about what they need to do. I'm an engineer. I know stuff.

I couldn't get anything taken care of through American Home Shield. So, I canceled both of my policies. I've been a customer in one property for 15 years. And the other one, three years now. I was pissed. They always try to figure out how to minimize their expense. I understand that. But Alvarez is unethical. They lied about what had to be done. I bought a new pump on Amazon for $132 and paid the local plumber $100 to install it. That's not 526 bucks. I canceled my policies and fixed it myself. I'll repair that stuff myself from now on. It's not worth the hassle.

AHS doesn't give me anything and they believe these second-rate subcontractors with what they have to say. Alvarez is trying to feather their own bed. They're trying to make money. That $526 goes directly to Alvarez. And American Home Shield supplies them with a pump to put in, and they charge me $526 out of pocket, plus the $100 deductible I had. I made a complaint about Alvarez. Nobody has called and tried to get me back as a customer. They won't replace an air conditioner. In my Roseville house, I had a problem with my air conditioner. They offered me $600 to replace it. I said, "Forget it." All they wanted to do is repair one part and it's a 25-year-old unit. I dropped them and I put in a new heat pump myself. $16,000 I paid out of pocket. I wouldn't go back. I paid AHS $120 a month for that policy for 15 years.

The heater would come on and then, it would immediately go right back out within a minute. The house stayed at 62 degrees. It took about a week for May Heating to come out and once they came, they had to order a part. So, the total process took almost about two weeks. The techs were very friendly and informational. However, they didn't know what was wrong. That wasn't the first time I had called and we thought it had gotten fixed with the air conditioner. But it wasn't. My brother looked at it and said it seemed like the computer part so he asked the techs to look into that. They did and that was what it was.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a year and I had a bad experience on my second claim. My sump pump went out and water was being held in the basement and it was causing bugs. I'm a single mom with kids who are grown, so I didn't know how the process worked. The technician came out and then left. He said I had to pump it out. So, I asked how I was going to pump it out if the sump pump that pumps this water out is broken. I called AHS back and I was told I had to get the water out before they could schedule an appointment. So, I wound up having to buy a portable sump pump to get the water out. When I called back, AHS told me that I had waited too long. I said I asked them when I called back if the claim would still be good. I had to figure out how to get it out because I didn't know. The rep from AHS said it had passed the 30 days and they wouldn't pay the claim anymore. So, that’s still not fixed.

They sold it and ever since then, it's been a very unAmerican Home Shield company.

The contractor, Shining Plumbing, was impossible to work with and American Home Shield needs to fire them. They were rude and I never got an invoice from them. They told me they don’t do the repair and I have to call AHS. They should give me my $100 service fee back. AHS called the plumbing company on my behalf to get it but they never sent it. Rather than deal with them to have the repair done, I took the cash in lieu of and hired my own plumber. He was with AHS before. But it cost me twice as much to get the same thing done, in addition to the $100 service fee that American Home Shield charges.

The technicians who don’t work for AHS say that the ones that they use have a bad reputation, specifically for plumbing and heating. I have rentals and every time, it’s a water heater issue with the vendors. AHS is quick to send the vendors but the problem is who they send. I've had them for over 20 years for several different houses and they used to let you pick the vendor that you wanted. They had a list of five people that you could pick and I like that because you could use the same people all the time. In this day and age, you don't want different strangers coming to your house all the time. All my problems have been with the technicians. American Home Shield is good.

American Home Shield sent KNS and when they came in, they found they had to cut the wall on a bedroom to see where the leakage was in my bathroom. I saw water coming out from the bathroom to my two bedrooms. So, the tech opened the two holes in the wall and found out that there was a leakage in the pipes where the bathtub is. He put new pipes in there. He fixed it, and then he covered the two holes back on. I said, “You cannot just cut a hole and not put the hole back on there.” So he said, “Well, you have to call American Home Shield and let them know to send somebody to come to fix that.” But he did a good job in fixing the leakage after two weeks waiting on American Home Shield, and I have a lot of water going to my bedrooms, and it did damage my floors.

I guess they don't care. I kept telling them, “You all need to send somebody because that water is coming from the bathroom. I don't know what kind of water is it, and I'm breathing that water because I sleep in that bedroom.” Finally, after 10 days, they sent somebody to fix the leakage. The contractor was cool. I'm not happy with American Home Shield though. I've been with them for eight years. They've been taking money out of my account every month for eight years. I never called them to fix anything and then I had this leakage, so I called them, and it took them a while to respond to this leakage. American Home Shield is not a good company. I found that out when I needed them. I didn't know that they're that bad until I tried them when I was down.

I was a customer for 6 years with AHS warranty company and paid my premium on time monthly. When my ac unit compressor went out on 1/06/2025 I thought this was the perfect time to use the warranty that I had been paying for 6 years. I made the request and their company (Greenway repairs) came out, AHS choice. The company tells me I’m responsible for $1600 of the bill which was for the freon only. Not the repairs. I immediately called AHS for them to tell me this is the technician choice and not theirs. They only cover $10 per pound out of $210 per pound per the technician estimate. I was very disappointed to find out the Warranty I had been paying for was not there to protect me or my home when I needed them. So I contacted a local professional company of my choice to received another estimate which they could do the freon alone of $390 wow!!!! This was less than $1600 I was quoted by AHS contractors.

So I contacted AHS customer service again to see what other option I had. I was then given the option of a payout to have the repairs done on my own but based off their estimate. When they sent the email payout offer email it was $530!! That didn't even cover the local company parts and labor of $1236 + $390 for the freon. When I asked AHS how did they get this offer amount, I was told this was what their contractor would charge AHS for the parts and labor. I was disappointed again at this because AHS allows their contractors to bill me $1600 the customer and they only pay $530, I asked for a estimate break down and they declined. I have done my part for 6 years by paying the monthly rate on time. AHS did not do their part! Which is to take care of me the customer with quality professional service.

After waiting nearly two months for a technician to fix our heater one finally came out and told us the mother board needed replacement. AMS told us on three occasions the part was approved and on order which were complete lies because yesterday we received a call from the escalation team that a new technician was going to be assigned and we were starting over. They are just so sorry! No technicians in our area are willing to work with AMS as they don’t pay so we just have to sit here with no heat in the middle of winter.

They have had since November to schedule the repair and have done nothing except deny the technicians recommendations requiring us to wait for assignment and start with another technician. We also have roof leak denied by AHS. The technicians clearly stated on the order the repairs needed to but AMS claimed with no evidence that the leak was due to skylights. The technician made it very clear the leaks had nothing to do with skylights so this will be resolved through other means.

Overall it has been good with American Home Shield, but there have been some difficulties from time to time. When Sears came out and worked on my appliance, it was good except that they didn't order all the parts that they needed at one time. They forgot to order. One of the guys who took the thing apart and made the initial orders forgot or overlooked the fact that the hose clamps needed to be replaced too. But it's fixed.

I'm waiting on a heat pump repair, but this is the third time in a row I've had people come out look at my heat pump and it's cold and has been going through a series of hard-to-track-down things. I'm getting a bit frustrated with their abilities to deal with my heat pump. But that could just be because of the vagaries of my system.

It goes off for four days and comes back on for a day like today, and shuts down for another four days. Nobody has been able to figure out what has been happening since it's an intermittent problem. It's either something with my HVAC system thermostat or the interfaces between them. I've sent in four separate requests through AHS and none of them have been dissatisfactory. Contractors came, checked it out, and said, "Yeah, that works," but it doesn't work again. I'm getting frustrated with their abilities of sending out the right folk to detect the right problems or look thoroughly to find a problem. Other than that, AHS has been good and responsive. At least they get it written down and they send somebody out.

I like being able to get things taken care of and it wouldn't be costly. American Home Shield is worth the cost. And if you don't want to have a big bill for something that you only have to do a one-time fee, that could be a big part work over $100 with the labor too. Once in a blue moon, maybe it's because it's not part of my claim that's why it's not on the website. Or there might be something that I was looking for, but it might not be part of my claim. It's just minor things, but it's fine.

The previous claim was for my dryer. The guy came out. He was good and professional. But the company that I had to deal with for the parts were very unprofessional. They didn't keep me in the loop with anything. I had to call them every day to get updated on when the parts were coming. They kept saying, “We have to wait for this part. We can't do this part just by itself.” I said, “I get it, but whatever.” That went on for a month before we got officially fixed. The last time I had conversation with her, it was so bad. She hung up on me. Rude. I said, “I get your business, and you want to do both of them at the same time. But the thing that we were waiting for was something that was not important.”

The guy who came out to do our dryer broke the plate. It's just a cosmetic thing. Since they broke it, he had to replace it. But they said that was what we were waiting for. I told you AHS at one point, “Whatever you do, I do not want to see them ever again. But the guy who was there who did our dryer, he could come back anytime. It wasn’t on him. It was on the company that he ordered the parts from."

Recently, my water heater leaked. The first part was we had to shut it off, which we already did prior, but because we have two water heaters, we just had to bypass the old one to the other one temporarily until we had to get a new one. The contractor was very professional. They were very prompt and answered our questions. They knew what they talked about.

I had two faucets where the valves were frozen so they couldn't turn the hot water on, and I had one diverter valve in my downstairs bathroom where the knob would fall off. I went to American Home Shield. They said it's covered so there was no problem, but I have Hansgrohe faucets. They weren't going to give me Hansgrohe and I don't know why. They said they were going to give some cheap faucets. I said, “Well, how much are you gonna cover?” They were supposed to get back to me with the amount that they were going to cover, but they never got back to me.

Also, on the diverter valve, the technician who came out was going to look into getting the part to fix it. They took my deductible and they never got back to me. They never did anything. And then I got another issue with another claim with American Home Shield. It was some freaking nightmare. It's crazy. It's like AHS doesn't want to pay.

We had an AC problem. They had someone out here a couple times. The first time, it wasn't working correctly. My zones weren't working. So, they replaced the zone damper. That was about two and a half years ago. Then it stopped working again and they said, “Oh, no. It's not the dampers.” They said it was the control board, so they replaced it. But when they replaced the control board, my zones did stop working again. So, the tech came back out again. Now, it started blowing warm, and not really cold. They told me, “You need an evaporator. We’ll replace the evaporator on the roof, but they're not going to cover everything.” They were going to charge me $2,800. The guy said, “I'll do it for 1,700.” So, I agreed to them to go ahead and put the unit on the roof. I told them, “And I'll pay you, but my system's got to be working. And you guys have been out here three times now.” I’ve paid three deductibles, and it's ridiculous.

The AC is still not working. I argued with them when they came out and said, “Oh, you need three zone dampers.” I said, “Well, those are covered.” They said, “No, they're not.” I said, “Come on, guys. You guys were just out here doing it.” This contractor tries to find ways to make the clients pay. I told them, “Look, I don't have a problem paying you $1,700. But I'm not paying it because I don't trust you guys. Once my system works the way it was working, I'll pay it, no problem.” They said, “Oh, we're not coming out. I'm gonna put a lien on your house.” I said, “You go ahead. I'm gonna sue you guys for coming out and working on my house, not finishing it.” Then they said, “No, I'm not coming out for the dampers then until you pay us.” I went, “What if I pay you for this? They come out for the dampers and it still doesn't work. Then what do I do? Then I'm screwed.” Once they got the money, they’re done.

American Home Shield did a couple other projects with no problems. I had a microwave and my cooktop fixed. I think American Home Shield doesn't pay enough money to contractors, and that's where they try to get money out of it. American Home Shield dropped the ball on my plumbing issue. Whenever there’s an issue, they’re horrible. Plus the $150 for repair is kind of high. They don't cover everything, too. If you got a high-end faucet, forget about getting that recovered because they're going to give you some piece of junk faucet. If I got a $350 faucet on my sink, they're going to give me a $50 faucet and say, "That's it. That's all they do."

I called American Home Shield regarding my washer on a Tuesday and they sent a repairman the very next day. The techs checked it out and had to order parts. It took over a week for the parts to come and then, we had a snowstorm. So, the worker couldn't come. He called off work. He was supposed to come the following week but he was sick. The company finally sent a repairman from another area and he said there were other things wrong with the washer and not what the first guy said. So, he needed to order other parts. It was Christmas and New Year's and I told him not to try to come over during that time. So, both the first and the second workers came on January 2. They fixed the washer and everything is fine now. The washing machine is about nine years old and I was surprised that AHS put as much money into it as they did. But that’s their business. As long as it got fixed, it was good for me.

The first time I used AHS was for an electrical part and they had a hard time finding a vendor that they could utilize in my area. I live about 50 miles out of Pittsburgh so, I'm in a rural area. Other family members who also have the same company have the same issues. But AHS appeared to be a good company. They did what they said they were going to do and sent a worker out very quickly. I didn't bother them with the workers not being able to come because it was not something that they could control. So, I had no problems with AHS.

The customer service was great. The girl couldn't have done any better. I've had AHS a few years and it's probably higher now than it was when I took it out. The monthly fee is not too high. If I was the saving kind of person, if I could put that away and save it for myself for when something breaks, that would be one thing, but I can't. So, it works well for me. The service fee though is high. I have a furnace company that comes in and does my furnace, and American Home Shield does too. But I have used this furnace company for many years so I'm not going to change. Their home visit fee is not $125. So, if I was using Home Shield, I would be paying more for the same service. But in the city, the cost is higher.

There are three of us in my family who have AHS. We took it out at different times of our life and depending on how long you've had the service is how much you pay for your deposit or your deductible. My niece who's had it for a good while only pays $70 to have somebody come. And because I've only had mine for probably four years, I paid 129 to have somebody come. I understand that AHS has to have their guidelines and things go up. People who’ve had it a long time have put a lot of money into it that they haven't gotten back. It's just good business what they do. As a consumer, I can whine and complain. But if I was the business owner, it is not a bad thing.

I've been with American Home Shield since 2006, so over the years, I had to learn the system because on the weekends, they would not send anybody out. So if your unit messed up on the weekend, it would have to wait until Monday, because their contractors only work Monday through Friday. If something went wrong on a Saturday, I would call AHS Sunday morning first thing, and they would get in touch with me on Monday and say they would set up somebody to come out that Tuesday if I was available. Climate King is one of the major companies here in Jackson other than Comfort Tech Air Condition and Heating Services. So, it's only two of them that AHS rely on. Their plumbing services is done by one of the major plumbing services here in Jackson. The companies that they choose are reputable in this area.

The contractor came out because my unit that is at the center of the house wouldn't ignite. They replaced several parts. But it only worked for a day. The guy would have to call American Home Shield back again, come back, and go back upstairs into that heater unit. They changed parts in it. The tech SAIDthe burner wouldn’t ignite. When you first turn it on, it would just run. You could hear the fan going, but it would never ignite the pilot. The pilot would never ignite the gas so the heater could turn on. He changed a couple of parts. two days later, I had to call them back. The tech came back out, went back in there, and said he changed out a couple more parts. He thought he had it all done after the third try.

He had to come back out the fourth try. The thermostat that I have is from Pivot Home Protection. That thermostat, the guy told me. was bad. He installed one for me, but I had to end up calling Vivint to send me out a thermostat like the ones on the other unit, that was installed with that system. They sent it out to me. I just haven't got it installed because the other one is working, but I would get it installed shortly once this weather changes, because they gotta take that thermostat off the wall, and put the new one from Vivint in.

AHS just increased my monthly payment this year from $98 to 112 bucks. But I've worked with them from 2006 to about 2016, and I got upset with them because it took them a while to get an air conditioning contractor out here. I switched out and went to another one. When I did that, the guys that came out here that worked on my unit told me, “Man, you was with the best company. We come out here and service all of them. You're going to get better quality from American Home Shield.”

I said, “I've been with them a long time.” I had two homes. My rental property and my existing property, and I never had any issues with them getting out there to fix it. It just didn't work on the weekend. They need to have some contractors that could get some stuff done on a Saturday or Sunday, because you never know if this 100 degrees here in Mississippi, and a unit went out on a Saturday, “You ain't nobody to stay in the master bedroom. You gotta stay in the center part of the house because that unit is working.”

The hot water heater went to hell and completely poured water through the bottom. AHS sent a contractor who looked at everything and took the hot water heater out. I had to enlarge the door before they could put the new unit in because it was bigger around. But that wasn't until after I called them about when they were going to put it in. They asked if I had enlarged the door and I told them I had, a week ago. Then, another company came in and they had to cut out a bunch of the walls and a bunch of the floor because of the possibility of mold from the water. They put in fans and stuff to help dry it out and for three days, we had to listen to fans running all freaking night. But the night after they took all the fans out, a guy showed up saying he was there to take the fans out and I told him it was done the night before.

Also, the plumbing company put down half-inch plywood on the floor instead of a three-quarter-inch and it was not safe to walk on. I had to find a private contractor to put my house back together. He repaired the floor, put new boards in, put in new drywall in the walls, and painted it so it matched really good. Neither one of the companies from AHS was dependable and I was not happy with them. AHS gave me the compensation, though, which I was happy with. Someone came out for the damages that one company did and he told AHS about what he thought needed to be fixed and that was what they went by.

I've been with American Home Shield since 2012. Through the years, they've handled every problem I've had. That’s the reason why I'm still keeping them. All the outlets at my kitchen panel were not working. I submitted my claim through the American Home Shield portal. It only took seconds to do it. I got text message telling me that a specialist is assigned to me, and they would call me. That company was awesome. They were fast. They fixed all the outlets on the wall, and they changed out the breaker because it was long.

I submitted another claim, but they had installed a different breaker to make sure that the panel could handle the load. I realized, “I didn't realize that I had an extra breaker.” They had told me that before. I forgot because I didn't run into any issues before. The breaker tripped once, and I didn't realize I didn't reset the right breaker. They came over, and it only took two minutes to explain to me, “You're good. Just gotta reset this breaker.” It has been good ever since. When a lot of people run into issues that AHS takes care for me, I've recommended them.

Sears repair canceled my appointment and could not come for another two weeks. Called American Homeshield who gave Sears the repair order and told them that I was having eight people for dinner in a week and needed them to come before two weeks, the person at American Homeshield was very understanding and called Sears and they still said they did not have any earlier appointments. He said he would give us to the escalation department. When I got to the escalation department, I spoke with RAVEN, she absolutely would not do ANYTHING. I begged her to let us have another repair company come. RAVEN still said, NO.

I told her there are tons of reviews online with the same complaints for Sears that they scheduled you and then the day they are supposed to come, they canceled. RAVEN still said, no. I would like to suggest to American Homeshield that they should send RAVEN for training on how she can actually help people instead of making them beg to do the right think. Again, RAVEN thanks for your compassion to do the right thing and let us have another repair company come which YOU DID NOT DO!!!!

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield after submitting a claim due to lightning hitting my house. I had City First Electric LLC come out to ensure no wires were fried. The process of filing the claim was relatively easy, but getting a technician to come out took about a month, which was quite frustrating. When the technician arrived, I was not impressed. He simply opened the panel and checked the breaker with a meter, which I could have done myself. I expected more thorough testing, something more sophisticated to check for potentially fried wires, but that wasn't the case.

In the past, I've had good experiences with American Home Shield, particularly when they quickly took care of a heating system issue. But this recent experience was disappointing, leading me to give them a 3 out of 5 overall. Communication with the technicians seemed lacking, and scheduling was a nightmare, with consistent transfers and delays. Additionally, canceling the service was difficult, involving multiple transfers between retention departments, though they eventually offered me some free service months. It was only slightly redeemed by the relative ease of filing a claim. I would caution others, especially those in rural areas, about the potential for extended wait times and difficulties in securing a local technician.

My washing machine started leaking, and I submitted a claim through American Home Shield. The process was relatively easy. The contractor was quite professional, although there was some delay in receiving the parts needed for the repair. Eventually, I was offered a new washing machine, and the process of selecting and receiving the new unit was efficient.

I've been with American Home Shield since we bought our house around 24 years ago. What stands out as a concern is the limited number of available contractors, particularly for plumbing services. Additionally, the service is quite costly now, at $150 monthly.

Regarding overall customer service, American Home Shield is responsive when you first report a problem, but they often don't follow through without persistent follow-up from their clients. While it's not too difficult to reach a customer representative, it requires continually requesting one during calls. On a scale of 1 to 5, I'd rate their customer service at about a 4, although reaching online resources poses some difficulties. I had some problems once trying to find what other plans they had.

I do appreciate that they have replaced items such as my washing machine and stove over the years, but the high cost and lack of contractor variety are significant drawbacks. If considering American Home Shield, be prepared for potential follow-up on claims and evaluate whether the cost aligns with your expectations for home warranty services.

My recent experience with American Home Shield has been frustrating. I've had a couple of repair issues that date back to November or December, and they remain unresolved. When H&K Plumbing came to fix problems with my toilet and sink, they seemed respectful and did an initial job, but the toilet issue reoccurred, and there's water under my sink again. I'm still waiting for them to come back to resolve these problems.

I also had a disappointing experience with Chesapeake Appliances. They installed a part for my ice maker, but it seems the fridge is not cooling properly. They failed to submit a report to American Home Shield, so I had to call them multiple times, with no resolution so far. This situation is not acceptable, as the repairs are not being done effectively, and trying to contact American Home Shield itself can be a challenge.

I used to have good experiences with American Home Shield years ago, but my recent encounters have been far from satisfactory. I'm extremely dissatisfied with the response times and the overall service quality. I appreciate the customer service on the phone, but the contractors and the process of dealing with repairs have been deeply frustrating. I need my issues resolved effectively and promptly, as leaving work frequently is not an option for me. At this point, I'm not sure how much longer I'll continue with American Home Shield, although they were better in the past.

My experience with American Home Shield has been overwhelmingly negative. Initially, when I had issues with my heater, I waited nine months in the cold before anything was done. Even when they attempted repairs, the problems persisted over the years without resolution. More recently, I faced issues with my garage door opener. The company they sent was unprepared. They didn't have the right tools the first time, and I had to give them some of my tools. Then they claimed unfairly that parts needing replacement weren't covered, demanding an additional $900.

American Home Shield said they only have one company in all of the DC area that works on garage door openers so they denied giving a second opinion. I got a new garage door opener and didn't change any of those parts for the door. The other company said I didn't need springs and the rollers are old, but they'll work. I just needed a new garage door opener.

Communication has been another challenge. I requested a supervisor's call but received calls at unreasonable hours instead. Despite specifying no calls after 4:30 PM, I still haven't managed to speak with a supervisor. Customer service has been frustrating, with only agents from the Philippines available unless you're a realtor with special privileges.

Overall, American Home Shield's service has been dissatisfactory and unresponsive to my needs. The experience feels unfair, with different standards for various customers, and I'm still waiting for proper resolution to ongoing issues.

I recently faced a frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding a plumbing issue in my home. We had what seemed like a typical backup in the plumbing system, which started causing water to overflow into our downstairs sink. This backup was so severe that it began to damage our sink basin. Despite the obvious problem, American Home Shield only covered a minimal initial intervention, which did not solve the problem. The plumber they sent suggested that a more extensive repair was needed, but American Home Shield denied further coverage.

This house was built in the early '70s, and we've had to replace sections of pipe before due to rust and rot. This particular plumbing issue seems linked to the washer, causing significant inconvenience, yet it remains unresolved. While the technician was courteous and gave us his card, the company's response was disappointing. We decided to tackle the issue ourselves, which means bearing the cost of installing a clean-out and rerouting the drain.

This wasn't the first time I felt let down by their service. I purchased the coverage with the expectation it would assist with plumbing issues, especially since our locality has a lot of older infrastructure. Unfortunately, when it came to the core reason for purchasing insurance, American Home Shield fell short. We might consider other options in the future, as we reflect on what we initially sought versus what was delivered. The technician was punctual and polite, which was a positive part of the experience, but it didn't outweigh the overall dissatisfaction with the service.

I have been using American Home Shield, and my experience has generally been positive, though there have been a few challenges with some of the contractors they send out. For instance, one technician worked on our heater and, after completing the job, mentioned that cleaning the contacts would cost an additional $200. Although I agreed to it, he completed the task in five minutes, which felt like being overcharged. Similarly, with our refrigerator, the technician did the necessary work but then informed me that cleaning the back vent would require an extra fee. These instances highlight the need to be vigilant about what is covered by the warranty and what isn't.

On a positive note, some technicians have been excellent. For example, a woman who repaired our oven did so with great skill and professionalism.

We first chose American Home Shield because our son had them and was satisfied with the service. Generally, when submitting a claim, they follow up within a day or two, and you just need to call to initiate the process. Following my refrigerator repair, the appliance has been functioning well.

Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield with caution. I'd rate the experience a 4 out of 5, mainly due to some contractor issues. Their customer service and the warranty coverage are sufficient, though I'd call the pricing just average, deserving a 3 out of 5. If you are considering a home warranty service, I'd suggest weighing the costs and benefits for your specific needs.

However, I faced repeated problems with my fridge, which they attempted to repair multiple times using different contractors. Additionally, when I canceled my contract, the representative provided a cancellation letter with the wrong date. Despite my request to correct it, they failed to do so. I recently had an experience with American Home Shield and submitted a claim for a garbage disposal issue. I bought my house a couple of years ago, and apparently, the disposal wasn't replaced when they flipped the house. The process of submitting the claim was straightforward, and the contractor who came in was efficient — they got the job done quickly, without any complications. Most of my interactions with American Home Shield's contractors have been positive. However, there was an instance right before Thanksgiving when our oven was leaking gas. This was quite an ordeal because we couldn't get a contractor for over a week due to limited partnerships, specifically with Aurora appliance repair. As a result, we weren't sure if we'd have a functioning oven for the holiday, which was frustrating.

On the upside, once repairs are completed, everything works as intended, and I've never needed anyone to return to fix the same issue twice. This provides some peace of mind, especially owning an older home. One area that could use improvement is customer support. It seems outsourced, likely to India or Pakistan, and the language barrier can make it nearly impossible to communicate specific home issues effectively. This is particularly challenging when trying to troubleshoot urgent problems. I work for a large corporation and understand these challenges, but it can still be frustrating when dealing with home-related stresses. The main downsides are the difficulty in communication and the limited availability of certain contractors, which can lead to delays.

My experience with American Home Shield was mixed. I had a challenging situation with my heating system where Fletcher Heating and Air had to visit six times before resolving the issue. Initially, they misdiagnosed the problem as rust and then a faulty circuit board. After several visits and an uncomfortable period without heat, they eventually admitted the system to be worn out and replaced it. Despite their persistence in trying to fix the issue, the journey felt frustrating and unprofessional at times. Earlier in the summer, they also struggled with my air conditioning system, involving numerous visits and significant out-of-pocket expenses for Freon, which was not fully covered by American Home Shield. This situation was particularly concerning given that my home is quite high-end, and I expected a more precise and efficient service.

Over the course of dealing with them, I also had to call upon other professionals to resolve issues more cost-effectively, casting doubt on whether Fletcher Heating and Air were fully prepared for the job. Initially, a technician came in and claimed to have fixed it, but it wasn't resolved, as the dishwasher started shutting off early. They returned, diagnosed a need to replace the control board, which they did, yet the dishwasher still wasn't working due to a pump issue that occurred right after. They ordered additional parts and were scheduled to return on Monday, which extended the repair period significantly.

I believe the contractors are capable, but it seems like they are instructed to stop work if they encounter any issues until they get further approval. This process has caused delays. Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was straightforward, but the requirement for the contractors to order parts through American Home Shield, wait for them to arrive before scheduling further work, adds to the delay. While American Home Shield has saved us money, the coordination between them and the contractors has been frustrating, especially with the repair taking so long, notably during the holiday period. For 3.5 to four weeks, my husband and I repeatedly reached out to both Freedom Heating and American Home Shield, but with no resolution.

The customer service at American Home Shield was shockingly poor. We were constantly told to wait longer for an update. Despite being the ones freezing in our home, at one point customer service claimed we were ignoring the calls of the technician, which was an outright lie.

Eventually, we discovered the issue ourselves: a wasp nest in the flue pipe, which was much simpler than the technician's incorrect diagnosis. We resolved the problem on our own, which shouldn’t have been necessary.

My experience with American Home Shield has been overwhelmingly positive. I am a realtor and have been in the real estate business for 52 years, so I truly understand the importance of having a reliable home warranty. We've worked with American Home Shield for many years, and my company was the number one warranty placement in the Greenville market. The peace of mind their services provide is invaluable, especially for new homeowners.

Recently, I had a claim where Service Pro Heating and Air came out to service our system. Initially, the first contractor could not identify the issue and suggested replacement, which was unnecessary. However, American Home Shield sent a second contractor, and after a couple of visits, they replaced a part related to the suction lines and resolved the issue. I appreciate that American Home Shield offers the opportunity for a second opinion, recognizing the varying skill levels among technicians.

In the past, I've encountered amusing situations with contractors, like one technician looking at the wrong unit because it was old and non-functioning. However, American Home Shield quickly addressed the mix-up and sent a competent technician for repairs.

I particularly value the stability and longevity of American Home Shield. In a market with many fleeting companies, their presence and reliability over the years are reassuring. They have significantly improved their service by notifying customers with texts about technician visits and sharing technician details, enhancing the customer experience.

While I find the annual cost to be increasing, it aligns with the general rise in material and labor costs, so I do not begrudge it. Personally, I prefer contacting them by phone, which they manage excellently, over using their website, which I haven't had much success with.

Overall, I consider American Home Shield to be the premier company for home warranties, backed by strong customer service and a long-standing reputation.

I recently had the chance to use my American Home Shield service for a plumbing issue, and my experience was quite positive. About a month ago, I encountered a leaking refrigerator situation, which was handled efficiently by Paramount Plumbing. Earlier, I was told by my regular plumber that I needed a new toilet. Remembering my American Home Shield policy, I reached out and they sent someone from Paramount, who fixed the toilet in just ten minutes. Although I had to pay a $100 service fee, it was definitely worth it compared to the potential cost of a full toilet replacement.

The technician was excellent and provided valuable advice about my policy, explaining that replacements are often builder-grade or a small monetary amount. While I initially hoped for more, like a bidet upgrade for resale purposes, his guidance was honest and appreciated. After this, when my refrigerator leaked, the same technician referred an excellent specialist, ensuring all my issues were resolved. I've had the policy for about three to four years and, prior to this, had a similarly positive experience with an AAA policy. Overall, my experience with AHS has been outstanding, and I would confidently rate it highly.

I encountered an issue with my dryer where it wasn't heating or tumbling, so I contacted American Home Shield (AHS). They informed me that Sears would handle the service, but Sears couldn't schedule a visit until the end of September, which was a month and a half away. That wait was too long, so I called AHS again, and they found a local contractor who managed to come out just two days later and fix everything promptly.

While dealing with Sears, I repeatedly tried to cancel their service, but kept receiving notifications about parts being delayed. Even after informing them that the repair was already done, I got automated responses.

The local contractor who eventually fixed my dryer did an excellent job. They explained the problem clearly and ordered parts that arrived quickly, completing the repairs in about a week.

Overall, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 4 out of 5. They respond quickly to my needs and generally find quick local solutions, but I had to contact them several times to receive a hard copy of my renewed contract, which was frustrating. Despite this, I find their service to be a good value for the price, and I would recommend them to others. All the repair professionals they've sent have been fantastic, very professional, and explained everything well.

I recently had two service calls from OKC Appliance King LLC, and both experiences were remarkably positive. Scott, who runs the business, came to my home twice over the past year or two. The most recent issue involved my washing machine, which wouldn't spin the water out of the clothes. Scott managed to fix it swiftly by disassembling and reassembling the tub, showing exceptional skill. Previously, he had repaired my dryer by replacing the timer. In contrast to other vendors sent by American Home Shield, who were either hard to schedule or slow to respond, OKC Appliance King has consistently delivered quick and efficient service.

As for American Home Shield, I have been a customer for 25 years. While my overall experience has been positive, I'm concerned about the annual increase in policy prices. This makes me reconsider if I should put that money into a savings account for home maintenance instead. While I would rate my experience with American Home Shield about 4 or 4.5 stars, their customer service deserves a 4-star rating, mainly because of the broader selection of vendors like OKC Appliance King.

In summary, if you're in need of appliance repairs, I highly recommend OKC Appliance King over other vendors provided by American Home Shield. The efficiency and professionalism I've experienced with them are unmatched.

I recently had a rather frustrating experience with American Home Shield. A third-party company came to check my AC, but I specifically requested they only check the freon outside, as everything else was running fine in the house. They insisted on checking my attic despite my early morning request not to disturb my family inside. This led to an argument, and they left without performing the service, for which I was still charged.

On another occasion with American Home Shield, I had my water heater replaced after it leaked. The approval process took over a week, and I ended up paying out-of-pocket to a provider who overcharged me $3,500. Overall, while I've been with American Home Shield for some time and had a few successful services in the past, the hiccups and additional costs have been off-putting. Despite the challenges, I would still consider recommending them as they've been reliable before, though their service and cost increases need improvement.

I recently had a service experience with American Home Shield regarding my garage door. The remote controls stopped working, along with the panel, so I reached out to them with a claim. I spoke with an agent over the phone, and while it was easy to get through to someone, finding a representative who understood my issue was a bit more challenging.

Upon service arrival, I was informed that while they would cover remotes and the key panel, the garage door itself wasn't covered. The service technician from Ace's Garage Door Repair was knowledgeable and managed to fix both the remote and the panel by replacing the necessary parts, which was appreciated.

My overall experience with American Home Shield is positive; they are quick to send someone out and resolve issues promptly, which I value greatly. However, the call center experience could be improved as communication there is difficult. I've had a frustrating experience with them in the past regarding my contract, which made me consider canceling the service.

American Home Shield has been reliable in addressing and fixing household issues over the years. Despite the issues with the call center, I've recommended their services to friends and family due to their efficient on-ground service and support.

The assigned service provider, Anytime Home Service, couldn't resolve the issue with standard equipment and had to use special tools, which cost me $600. Unfortunately, American Home Shield wouldn't cover this additional expense.

Aside from this incident, their customer service is generally satisfactory. I sometimes find it difficult to understand the representatives, possibly due to accents, which impacts communication. I have American Home Shield coverage for five houses, including my property in Seattle, Washington, where I recently had a plumbing issue. There was a pipe with a loose cap that needed tightening, which the plumber dispatched by American Home Shield handled well.

Overall, my experience with the technicians from American Home Shield has been good. However, there was one situation with a refrigerator that had condensation issues. The technician visited multiple times, attempting to fix it, and eventually replaced the gasket, thinking the air was getting in. However, 43 days after the replacement, the problem persisted. When I contacted American Home Shield, they informed me that since it was beyond their 30-day period, I had to pay an additional $100 for another visit. I was disappointed because it was a continuation of the same issue, not a new one, due to a misdiagnosis. Eventually, they replaced the refrigerator, which I appreciated, but I felt the extra $100 charge was unnecessary.

I believe American Home Shield should make exceptions to the 30-day rule in cases of misdiagnosis like this. Despite this, I've been generally satisfied with their service over the years, having handled many claims for my multiple properties.

I usually submit claims online, which I find very easy, rating it a 5 out of 5. Overall, if I were to rate my experience with American Home Shield, I'd give them 4 out of 5 for service, price, customer support, and coverage.

I've been using American Home Shield for about nine years now. Initially, I switched to them because they offered reasonable pricing and covered more items than my previous service. Their service is generally reliable in terms of sending someone out to fix things when something breaks down, which I appreciate. However, I'm frustrated with hidden costs, particularly modifications that aren't covered. For example, during a repair on my air handler unit in the attic, I was told modifications were needed, like new fittings for air ducts and other fittings that I later realized weren't replaced. They charged me a significant amount for these so-called modifications that weren't even done.

This issue is common with the contractors they send out, who seem to bid low initially to get the work and then charge extra through these modifications. In my case, I'd sometimes end up paying more for alleged modifications than the actual cost of the repair. On a Freon, American Home Shield will pay the first 2 pounds and after that, I’ll still pay $200 or $300 for them to fill it back up if the Freon is leaking.

Customer service is decent, often rated four out of five. They're helpful, but when it comes to modifications, their hands are tied, and I have to bear the cost. This has been an ongoing issue, and I might just start saving the money I spend on premiums to pay for repairs myself, as it'll likely save me more in the long run. Overall, I would caution others about these hidden costs if considering American Home Shield.

I have had extremely frustrating experiences with American Home Shield (AHS). I recently had a claim due to an issue with an ice maker, which I needed to resolve quickly due to legal obligations towards my tenants. Unfortunately, it took around 4-5 days just to dispatch a contractor because the initial company wouldn't return. Ultimately, the issue was a simple kink in the line, which should have been addressed sooner.

The service process involves a lot of hassle, and the contractors they send aren't always the most professional or timely. Once, there were even background noises of chickens during a call, which left me questioning the legitimacy of the service call. The lack of prompt and professional service has caused me to incur additional costs because my tenants are legally allowed to fix issues and bill me if not resolved swiftly by AHS. This has made my role as a landlord unnecessarily complicated, and it has cost me time and money. As a real estate professional, I find the lack of reliable service unacceptable, and I would strongly advise my clients against using AHS for their home warranty needs. Overall, my experiences with AHS have been negative, with significant delays and miscommunications. I am actively seeking a better service provider to avoid further issues.

I recently had a service experience with American Home Shield concerning a plumbing issue. Initially, the first technician who came out was unable to resolve the issue, citing non-wear and tear reasons. Unfortunately, I have had a similar lackluster experience with the same company before. However, the second technician was excellent, providing quick and efficient service.

Generally, my experiences with technicians from American Home Shield have been positive, except for the recurring issue with the first company. I have two accounts with them, one in Florida and another in New Jersey. I noticed that for the New Jersey account, the cost increased significantly—it started around $120 but soon jumped to $180 without much notice. This steep and frequent pricing adjustment is becoming nearly unaffordable, and I intend to look into this.

American Home Shield does meet my needs; however, if I find a better price elsewhere, I might consider switching. Using their online platform to submit claims has been straightforward and user-friendly.

Although there is a slight communication barrier with customer service sometimes, they generally perform well. I'd recommend people be aware of potential price hikes but overall, American Home Shield has served my basic requirements adequately.

However, I recently had a frustrating experience with a refrigerator repair that took 4 to 5 months to resolve. The refrigerator was leaking water, and after contacting American Home Shield, they sent Sears to assess the situation. Sears evaluated the issue and initially said parts needed to be ordered. Unfortunately, communication was lacking, and I wasn't informed that multiple parts were needed. After waiting for several weeks and making calls to both Sears and American Home Shield, I eventually learned that more parts were required, and they hadn't been fixed. It took repeated follow-ups and another month and a half before finding out Sears couldn't complete the repair. At that point, American Home Shield began the process of replacing the refrigerator.

The whole ordeal was exasperating and caused extensive damage to my floor due to water leakage.
