My dryer's vent stopped functioning, and American Home Shield sent out a technician who fixed the issue in less than ten minutes. Although there was a slight delay in scheduling due to personal circumstances, once the appointment was set, the service was efficient. I've used American Home Shield for other claims before, and the quality can vary depending on the technician assigned. For instance, I previously faced a frustrating situation with a dishwasher repair, but that seemed more an issue with the specific technician.
If someone were to ask me about signing up with American Home Shield, I'd recommend it. The website used for submitting claims is quite intuitive. The customer service, based on my past experiences, I would rate as a 3 since I remember some frustrating calls. In terms of pricing, I don't recall the exact amount I pay, but it seems reasonable enough for the coverage offered. Overall, I would rate my satisfaction with them as a 4 out of 5.
Your feedback is more than appreciated. We hope you continue to enjoy your American Home Shield contract.
Thank you, Mariah

Updated on 02/03/2025: The only thing that improved was being given the option of cashing out. If this site allowed me to, I would reduce my rating to 1 star. AHS is shady; they do not provide clear, detailed responses to reasonable questions. More background: Their original offer was to replace the furnace, but I have to pay out of pocket $5050 for "non covered items". I remain unable to get clarification from them on what exactly is meant by "non-covered items." For the cash out option, AHS is only willing to reimburse me a little less than $1500 for the work. They claim that "Several modifications are needed to bring the system up to code which AHS does not cover for." and that "there is a certain contract limit that this value will meet."
To be clear, $1500 will NOT cover the cost of a furnace and my policy states they will cover costs up to $15,000. I asked for clarification on what they meant by a contract limit, but they will not answer the question. I have also requested details on the "modifications are needed to bring the system up to code," but they will not provide me with those details.
Their responses are vague and non-specific. I had a heating company come out and quote me a new unit and $1500 doesn't come close to paying for it. I also asked the heating company to tell me if there were any code-related updates needed and they said yes, but it is small things that will cost less than $200. My AHS contract allows $250 for code compliance coverage. All-in-all this has been a horrible experience. I do not feel like a valued customer of AHS and I do not feel like I am getting the value out of them that I have paid them. I would not recommend them to any other homeowners.
Original Review: I filed a claim with American Home Shield to replace my furnace, as there was a crack in the heat exchanger causing carbon monoxide release due to age and wear and tear. Unfortunately, they've been difficult to work with, refusing to cover it, despite it being a covered issue. There's no clear way to discuss or contest their decision.
When it came to working with the contractor, the experience was positive and problem-free. In the past, I've had smaller repairs done through American Home Shield, like a garbage disposal replacement, which went smoothly.
However, I’m starting to question the value of the warranty, as the main reason for purchasing it was to have coverage for significant repairs, and I'm finding it challenging to get them to fulfill this. Overall, I would only rate my experience as a 2 out of 5.
Hi Anthony, I understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can talk more about your experience. Sincerely, Mariah

My experience with American Home Shield has been mixed over the years. I've been a customer since 1992, drawn mainly by the efficient and skilled subcontractors they contract with. The online process to submit claims is straightforward, and I appreciate receiving email notifications about the contractors, like AC Rescue INC, who handled my recent air conditioning issue with promptness and expertise.
However, American Home Shield's customer service leaves much to be desired. Long wait times on calls and under-informed representatives can be frustrating. As far as calling and talking to them, it's almost impossible or sometimes you get someone that you can't understand and they don't understand what you're trying to explain to them. It's particularly troubling when trying to replace items; poor communication and unexpected out-of-pocket expenses have been an issue. I've had to replace an AC unit before and I ended up having to come out of my pocket on top of my annual fee to get that replaced. Despite the service fee increase from $75 to $100, I continue with American Home Shield because of the quality of the subcontractors. The coverage and service from American Home Shield overall earn a mediocre rating from me, but their contractors deserve high praise.
Your feedback is more than appreciated. We hope you continue to enjoy your American Home Shield contract.

I had an experience with American Home Shield regarding the hot water heater in our condo that we purchased a year and a half ago. The original heater, which was about 20 years old, stopped working. It's in the attic which was an added expense. Unfortunately, American Home Shield did not cover the full replacement cost. We ended up paying over $3000 for removal of the old unit and installation of a new, better quality one that came with an 8-year warranty. We only received $450 from American Home Shield.
Submitting a claim was quite painful, and the experience with their contractors was mixed. One contractor who serviced our dishwasher about a year ago was very knowledgeable and experienced—the kind of person we'd hire ourselves. However, the others seemed inexperienced and didn't know what they were talking about..
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield was frustrating.

I recently had to call Ace Plumbing through American Home Shield to fix a couple of broken faucets in my bathroom. Setting up the service online was straightforward, and Ace Plumbing contacted me promptly the next morning. They managed to address the issues efficiently. I've been with American Home Shield for over two years, and they have consistently delivered reliable service every time I've used them. For customer service and service quality, I’d rate them highly. Pricing is decent but could be better. Overall, I'd recommend them to others, as my experiences have been positive.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield involving an issue with my dishwasher, which was not recycling properly. I submitted my claim through their online system, which I find to be very user-friendly. Bay to Bay Appliance Repair came out to assess the situation, but unfortunately, the dishwasher had to be replaced.
I've been protected with American Home Shield since December 30, 2020, after my realtor recommended it when I bought my house. I appreciate how quickly they send out service personnel—usually within a day or two—and I've had two appliances replaced through their service.
While they efficiently get appliances repaired, there can sometimes be a delay due to part availability. However, they manage to keep everything running smoothly once they have the necessary parts.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for my water heater, which burst and caused a mess in my home. High Priority Plumbing and Services Inc., referred by American Home Shield, came to address the issue. Although they fixed the water heater, I later discovered they left a gas leak, which resulted in me having to go to the emergency room due to shortness of breath. When the gas leak was eventually addressed, I was understandably frustrated as I had to spend days inhaling gas before they sent someone to fix it.
Despite these issues, I've had American Home Shield for about three years after being referred by a friend. I appreciate that they have consistently sent someone out for each service request, unlike other service warranties I've used. However, the communication can be challenging, often involving language barriers that require repeated explanations.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been mixed. They do respond to service requests, but issues can arise with contractors and communication. If asked, I'd tell a friend they eventually come through, just be clear about what is covered in your contract to avoid unexpected charges. Despite some ups and downs, I find them to be better than other service providers I've dealt with in the past.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield, and the process went smoothly overall. Submitting the claim online was very easy. The contractor they sent was great. Initially, the hot water at my kitchen sink took a while to come on, but after the contractor adjusted the water tank temperature, it was immediately hot again. However, the issue seems to have returned slightly, so I'm considering contacting them again.
I've had four contracts with American Home Shield across four different houses, including some rentals and an Airbnb. Even though new home purchases often come with warranties from other companies provided by a realtor, I've consistently been impressed only with American Home Shield. Their service stands out to me, and that's why I stick with them for my properties.

I recently had a claim experience with American Home Shield that was terrible. They sent multiple contractors to my home who seemed inexperienced and unable to fix my problem. Eventually, I ended up fixing my stove myself. It's frustrating to pay a monthly fee and also a $100 deductible, just to deal with such incompetence. However, the claim submission process itself was fine.
I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. AHS apologizes for not meeting your expectations. If your concerns regarding your claim is unresolved, please send your contact information to consumeraffairs@ahs.com and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when my dishwasher and washer required repairs. I contacted them, and Big Country Appliance was sent out for the job. They efficiently identified and resolved the issues by replacing the necessary parts that were causing leaks in both appliances. The techs did excellent work.
Although the repair required an assessment and waiting for parts to be ordered, once the parts arrived, the techs returned promptly and completed the fixes. Everything is now working perfectly.
This was the second time I had Big Country Appliance come out through American Home Shield, and I have been consistently satisfied with their service. I've been with American Home Shield for about five to six years now, and I have no complaints. They've done very well with me.

I've had a good experience with American Home Shield. When my washer needed repair, the service was initially good. The tech assessed the issue, ordered the necessary parts, and returned a couple of days later to fix it. However, after the repair, my washer became noisier and more off-balance than before. I tried reaching out to American Home Shield, but they informed me that my warranty had expired, and I'd have to pay another fee for a follow-up visit.
I've been with American Home Shield for almost four years and find them to be reliable and responsive. They adequately address service requests, though I prefer speaking to someone over the phone rather than using the app, which can be less personal.

I recently had a great experience with American Home Shield when my home furnace broke down. I noticed the issue at 2:30 in the morning and immediately went online to file a service call. By around 6:37 a.m., someone contacted me, and a contractor was at my house by 9:10 a.m. While they had to return a couple of days later to address another issue, everything has been working perfectly since then. I found their website very easy to navigate for submitting a claim.
The contractors sent by American Home Shield were excellent. They explained everything clearly, and their quick response time impressed me. I'm really glad that I kept the warranty intact after purchasing my townhouse. Renewing my warranty with American Home Shield has been a true lifesaver. I'd definitely recommend them to others, especially those in the process of buying homes.

I've been with American Home Shield for about five months now. Recently, I had problems with my dishwasher and fridge. The dishwasher wasn't functioning properly, and the fridge needed several repairs, which were fortunately solved through my coverage.
I appreciate that American Home Shield sends knowledgeable and professional contractors. In my case, the contractor was from National Platinum Services, and he did an excellent job at diagnosing the issues and advising on the necessary steps. Although some repairs for the dishwasher weren't covered, they decided to replace my fridge, saving me approximately $1,500.
The process of submitting a claim through their website was user-friendly. However, I think that the service call fee of $100 is somewhat high, especially since there's already an annual fee.
Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield to others. It's a reasonably good plan that has already saved me a significant amount of money.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite disappointing. It all started with Gabriel's Garage Doors, who came to address an issue. The technician promised to call me back but never did, and what he said differed from what he wrote in his report. I wouldn't recommend them based on this experience.
I've been with American Home Shield for almost a year and initially contacted them by phone when I realized something wasn't working. They sent a second technician who offered a different opinion, but the company still refused to fix the issue.
When something breaks, they provide numerous excuses not to resolve the problem. I've rated my experience with them very low.

I had a plumbing issue that needed addressing. Unfortunately, my encounter with All Hours Emergency Plumbing, dispatched by American Home Shield, was unsatisfactory. They provided an estimate of $11,200 for a job that should have cost around $400. This led me to seek a cash settlement from American Home Shield to address the problem myself at a significantly lower cost, less than half of their estimate.
While I'm not satisfied with the service from All Hours Emergency Plumbing, I must commend American Home Shield for their exceptional customer service, which I rate 5 stars. However, when considering the cost of the service, I would rate it a 2.

I had a terrible experience with American Home Shield. My oven wasn't maintaining heat, and although two separate contractors came out to address the issue, they ultimately couldn't do much. From the beginning, the first company said my oven needed to be replaced, but American Home Shield wouldn't do it and they sent out somebody else and went through the same thing again. The most recent company was great when they would come out. They were responsive and replaced the parts, but it wouldn't work. We went through two rounds of that before my oven was finally replaced. My first claim was in May, but it wasn't deemed non-repairable until a week after Thanksgiving, which was way too long.
I'm really disappointed because it took over six months to get my oven replaced and I was trying to bake. It took more than eight visits for them. During this time, I lost more food and money on groceries than I should have due to the failing oven. This experience was incredibly frustrating, and I felt like I wasn't being listened to by American Home Shield. I'm a real estate agent and I sell their warranties. I was a believer in it until I had to deal with it myself. I would currently advise friends and family not to use them.

I had an experience with American Home Shield that left me with mixed feelings. The service involved several repair visits for my stove, specifically with PARC Appliance and Sears. PARC Appliance came out twice, while Sears had to come about five or six times. Each time Sears came, they ordered a part, but it was often the wrong one. This process extended from October and wasn't resolved until December, which was frustrating due to numerous calls, texts, and emails exchanged. Ultimately, PARC Appliance managed to fix the problem during their final visit.
On a scale of 1 to 5, I rated American Home Shield a 3, as the resolution, albeit lengthy, was achieved. I also appreciate the promptness with which a service person would initially be dispatched, considering they had previously repaired my stove in August. For the cost, American Home Shield offers decent value, although I hope that future experiences won't mirror this one.

My experience with American Home Shield (AHS) has been positive this time around. Initially, my garage door wouldn't close completely—it would only go down a bit before coming back up. Sometimes, it used to happen in summer, but it was mostly related to the cold weather. The first repair people said it was a common issue, especially in colder weather, and showed me which two screws to adjust in such cases. They were gone in less than five minutes and at that time, the garage door seemed to be working. However, the issue recurred a few days later and was worse; the garage door just would not close fully even after few tries. If I have to close my garage door, I have to keep pushing the button for it to completely close.
When I requested a second service, the technician checked a few things and discovered a loose wire on one side, which might have been entirely disconnected. He fixed it, and since then, the garage door has been functioning well, even during the cold winter months.
I've had American Home Shield for about a year, and I appreciate the process. The online booking system minimizes human intervention. If I have any issues, I book online, then immediately, I get emails and I am assigned the service person immediately. Both times I did a service request, I was told that somebody would contact me within 24 hours. When there was a delay in contacting me within 24 hours, a quick phone call resolved it, and I secured an appointment promptly. Overall, my recent experience with AHS has been good, contrary to a past experience, where it wasn't as smooth.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield, specifically regarding my furnace. The technician they sent was professional and resolved the issue. My past experiences with the other technicians have been positive as well; they've consistently been professional and completed the job without needing multiple visits. Typically, American Home Shield sends someone within the first or second day after I submit a claim, which I find to be quite prompt.
However, I was unpleasantly surprised by an increase in the agreement price after a year, and I don't recall receiving any prior notification about this change. It would have been helpful to have advance notice or potentially some alternatives to consider before continuing the service.
I usually submit claims online, which I would rate as moderately easy to navigate. Overall, I would give American Home Shield a four-star rating.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield for an issue with the freezer portion of our refrigerator. We experienced water freezing up at the bottom, so I decided to call and submit a claim. The service from the claims representative was excellent. They gave us date and time for the repairs and, due to a cancellation, Sears was able to schedule an earlier appointment. They replaced a part and unclogged a drain, which resolved the issue effectively.
The refrigerator is now operating excellently. I've had American Home Shield for about 3 to 4 years, mainly because of the number of appliances we own. It can be more economical to repair appliances than replace them. My overall experience with American Home Shield has been very satisfying. I particularly appreciate the ease of access to services and don't see much that requires improvement.
Regarding ratings, I’d give American Home Shield a top score across different areas such as customer service and pricing. It's been a worthwhile investment, and I'd recommend it to friends and family without hesitation.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a plumbing issue. I had a couple of leaky faucets, and they sent a technician who was polite and did a good job. Generally, my experiences with American Home Shield have been consistent, but I do have a couple of observations.
Previously, I had an ac problem that took about four days to resolve because they were waiting for a part. This was inconvenient, especially in the Arizona summer. However, my recent plumbing issue was addressed the next day, indicating some improvement in their response time.
One concern is their price increase notifications; I did receive one this year, but it feels like the service's value doesn't quite match the price. I rated them 2 stars for value and 3 stars overall, considering the delayed ac repair and price increase. For the online experience and the coverage they provide, I gave them a 3. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, and the plumbing company they sent out made a hole in my ceiling in the basement where the leak was coming from. They cut out some drywall but didn't repair it, so I ended up with another plumbing company, Hydrant LLC. Despite this, I find the American Home Shield claims process standardized and easy. I didn't receive any information about the contractors before they showed up; I was just told which company would be handling the work order and to expect a call from them.
I had a bad experience with the first plumber. The person didn't speak English and communicated by sticking his phone in my face, as if he was telling me to read. I asked for someone who understands English, and though the next plumber understood, he couldn't fix the issue. Finally, the third plumber identified and corrected the problem. Despite these contractor issues, I would still rate American Home Shield a 5 as they connect me with the right people, given it's not their fault on the company's part. Customer support is okay—they handle my deductible and quickly connect me with a technician.
What I like about American Home Shield is the extra protection it provides, especially as a first-time homeowner. I've had my property almost four years, and to this day, I don't have a handyman. They connect me with companies that do the work and guarantee the work done. I would recommend American Home Shield to family and neighbors as a good added piece of insurance to have, especially if they're a homeowner.

I have a pool company that comes out weekly and if they see something wrong, then I toss it over to Home Shield. I go online and fill out what I need. It has options, whether it's a pump or something else, and I click on it, then they assign a repair company to come out. The ease or difficulty of the process depends on what I'm dealing with, but so far, with my pool, it's always easy.
I've been with American Home Shield a long time and any time something goes wrong with my pool, Expertpools does it. They always do a good job. At one point, they looked at the manifold and fixed something inside and changed some grids. I like it when American Home Shield saves me money. Sometimes, they follow through and sometimes they don't, but I've figured out who to call.

I recently had a plumbing issue addressed by Pronto Plumbing through my American Home Shield warranty. The entire process was seamless and resolved my problem effectively. I set up the service request online, an approach I found trouble-free. If recommending to a friend, I'd certainly suggest using American Home Shield, especially the online setup for service requests.
Since the repair, I haven't faced any further issues with my plumbing. Although overall I had a positive experience, my main critique is that American Home Shield could improve the clarity of their warranty coverage. In terms of customer service, I've consistently found it excellent, and their online services are quite user-friendly. Pricing, on the other hand, might have room for improvement. Overall, I am quite satisfied but would appreciate clearer warranty terms.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for one of my appliances. The issue was with one of the burners that had stopped igniting. The technician came out as scheduled, inspected the problem, and realized that he needed to order a part. Once the part arrived, he returned to install it, and now everything is working perfectly.
The technician was polite. It was reassuring to know that I had the support of American Home Shield. While I did have to pay a fee, it was certainly more economical than handling the repair independently.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with American Home Shield. I would rate their service a 5 out of 5, as well as their customer service and coverage. It's great to have that peace of mind knowing you’re financially protected. I would recommend them to others.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield that was quite frustrating. Our air conditioning unit was replaced during the summer in June or July, and when the temperatures dropped, we found out we weren't getting any heat from the newly replaced unit. When I contacted the company that originally installed it, they directed me back to American Home Shield. So, I ended up having to pay a $100 fee for a technician, only to find out the issue was simply a switch that wasn't turned to let the gas through by the those who installed it in July.
Submitting a claim was easy and the instructions were straightforward, but it was annoying to have to pay again for something so minor. On the positive side, the contractors sent out by American Home Shield have always been great. I've never had any issues with them. However, I do wish there was a way to speak directly with a representative, especially for straightforward issues like mine. It would have been nice if I could have resolved this without an additional charge.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when my furnace started having issues; it would start but not stay on. Initially, I set up my request by calling them. The customer service was just OK, and I had to ask for a supervisor because it wasn't my first issue with my cooling system. The first company they sent out tampered with things but never fully fixed the problem. When I called American Home Shield again, they tried to charge me another service fee. However, the supervisor waived the fee because they acknowledged the prior issue, and that was a relief.
The supervisor was accommodating and understanding, and in the end, they had to replace a large part of my furnace since it was still under warranty. The repair was successful, and my furnace has been working perfectly since then. If someone were to ask about my experience, I would tell them the whole scenario but advise them to understand what's covered and what isn't before having someone come out.

American Home Shield sent someone out to look at the exhaust fan in the bathroom. That person said, “You need a new motor.” They scheduled to come back at a later date, and they replaced the motor. They were prompt and very professional. They didn't take long, so they knew what they were doing. The exhaust fan works well.
I like that I pay $30 a month and I don't have an issue with paying because I got a deal. Everything is covered, which I can hopefully keep, because with everything being expensive, it is nice to have something affordable to pay, and I pay the $125, and AHS would send someone out. That is good and cheaper than having to pay hundreds of dollars to get something fixed in my home. As long as it's affordable, I will stay. You should do it. It's good to have home insurance. The contractor agencies were very prompt with sending me emails and phone calls to make sure that things got scheduled around my schedule, calling me when they were on their way.

I recently had a very frustrating experience with American Home Shield. My most recent claim was for our dryer, which required the technician to come out three separate times. Each visit seemed to create a new issue. The most stressful part was having to put in a recall notice with AHS to get the company back, as it was the technician, not AHS, that caused further issues. The process was such a mess and caused me a significant amount of stress.
I went through a similar ordeal with our air conditioning unit. The technician came out three times and failed to fix the issue, so we eventually had to call another company to resolve it. Despite paying $100 each time, the problem was never properly addressed. One contractor, Complete Air of Ormond Beach, was particularly rude and incompetent. However, the technician for the dryer was professional and attempted to correct the issues they had caused. The cost of the service is too high, considering the quality of the contractors they use. I'm exploring other companies as I'm quite dissatisfied.

American Home Shield sent out All Points Plumbing to address a leaking toilet and a faucet that needed replacement. I submitted the repair claim through their website and followed up with a call. The website is somewhat average in terms of ease of use – I'd rate it a 3 out of 5.
Before the contractor came out, I was given the company's name and phone number. I contacted them directly to arrange a visit. During the service, All Points Plumbing needed a few days to get permission for the replacement and repairs, but they eventually replaced the inside of the toilet and the fixture. Everything is functioning fine now.
While I would rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5 overall, this isn't without some reservations. I currently have another claim for an electrician, but I haven't heard back since last week. They promised to come between 10 and 12 today, but communication has been lacking.
If you're considering getting a plan like this, I suggest opting for it if the home seller covers the cost. Regarding American Home Shield, the customer service, pricing, and the online tool all receive a 3 out of 5 from me.

I have been using American Home Shield since 2017, and my experience has been mixed. I reached out to them by phone about a persistent sump pump issue I've been experiencing for over a year. The customer service has been fine, but the resolution of the issue has been frustrating. They've sent out plumbers about 5 or 6 times, changing the sump pump multiple times, but the problem persists. Each plumber has given me a different explanation, which complicates matters. The real issue with American Home Shield is that if the problem recurs after more than 30 days, I have to pay another service fee, which I find unfair because I'm already paying a monthly insurance premium.
On the other hand, they've done other work for me without issues in the past. If someone asked me about my experience with American Home Shield, I would rate them as subpar and suggest they work with better companies. Regarding customer service and service quality, I would give them a 3 out of 5. For the pricing, I'd rate them a 2 out of 5.

Several times, they made it super difficult to cancel your contract, they refused to give a confirmation number or email stating you canceled your AHS contract. They put you on a resolution services line with no actual number you can call as it goes through a call center; thus, if they hang up on you, which they did a few times with me, you have to start the process again. Being tenacious, I called over and over again. They guaranteed to send me an email the last two times showing my contract was canceled; guess what? It was not; the last phone call, they promised it was canceled, and there was no further need to do anything; my wife called to check, and guess what? The contract was still active, but they promised it was closed, and I should be receiving a $65 refund; also, out of the blue, they said I needed to sign a form stating I canceled.
Hold on...They verified it was me calling, and now they never said I needed a form to fill out, another delay tactic; I played along and stated, please email it now while on the phone. I waited, and they said it was sent out. Guess what? No email. Another fact for you all experiencing this out-of-country domain highway robbery is simply canceling the payments through your banking or credit card company. They are snake oil salesman. The installers they send are constantly complaining about the poor management of dispatching, etc.
Do not accept that they have canceled your contract as they are told to delay and impede the process so you can give up. This is your hard-earned money, and you need to put a stop to their theft and hiking rates at will. In one month with no notice, my rate went from $58 to $78 per month, a 26% hike with no notice. There is more, but as you can see from the countless poor reviews, this company needs to be brought into the spotlight for its bad business practices and let justice by the people have the final say. Please read these poor reviews all over the internet before signing a contract. Buyer BEWARE.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

This company is a scam. My well pump broke down and we were without water and they sent a con artist "Proservice Hvac & Plumbing" to come inspect it days later. He said it was broken but insisted on trying to sell me a new water tank too for 6k, but I would have to wait a week without water for them to have time to come do the work. This was 2x the cost of what my own water service company would charge.
AHS said they would do cash in lieu, but are now denying it as the scam "technician" did not send in the report. I believe he waited two months to send in the report out of spite for me hiring my own guys. I needed water! It has been two months and countless phone calls later and AHS are still fighting it. Now the scam technician sends in a report and only mentions the water tank (which is not covered) and does not mention the well pump (which is covered) out of spite for not working with him. Now we have to keep chasing to get the full report, but of course AHS puts that onus on me instead of doing their job.
AHS will make you call into a foreign call center for each communication, which takes 15+ minutes to get through to a human and then the person has no idea of what's going on each time and then does nothing to follow up, so they try to waste as much of your time as possible to hope you give up. Avoid this company and Proservice Hvac & Plumbing at all costs! They are criminals.

They are great with the little repairs but horrible with major repairs. Make every excuse not to cover the problem. This go around my water heater went completely out on a Saturday. They assigned it to a contractor in a different state that could not come out until the following Tuesday to even look at the water heater. I don’t know about the rest of the world but I work for a living and take a shower daily. It’s January in Maryland where an ice cold shower would not be conducive to my health.
In the meantime I made one phone call to a local plumber and they came out the same day and replaced the broken water heater. AHS refused to approve the contractor forcing me to pay out of pocket. I would NOT recommend AHS unless you have an abundance of time to waste and extra money to spend. 1. Without any notice they increased my monthly charge for our policy. 2. We spend $125 for service calls which wouldn't be problematic IF the service calls they sent out actually were for legitimate companies but I would say most are not. Sometimes it can be weeks worth of waiting to get a single company to come out. 3. They DO NOT value loyalty with customers. I just got off the phone with Rose in customer relations at AHS as well as Sheekie and they will not honor a lower monthly plan cost (for the same plan I currently have that also is lower service fee cost) that they are advertising. If you have other options, I would choose another option besides AHS.

I had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for my oven, which wasn’t heating up. I submitted the claim online through their site, and the process was straightforward. They promptly communicated via text, providing details about the contractor, Texas Gulf Coast Service Center, including the date and time of their visit.
This was actually the second company to address the issue. Initially, sears was assigned, but the technician was unable to fix the problem because he couldn't read the entire serial number. This seemed quite inefficient and frustrating, as it wasted my time and the claim had to be resubmitted to American Home Shield. However, the technician from Texas Gulf Coast Service Center was well-prepared and informed. He and I already knew what was wrong before he came, but he still identified that the igniter had gone out and resolved the issue effectively.
Since the repair, the oven has been functioning well. Despite the initial hiccup with sears, I’d rate this overall experience with American Home Shield as very satisfactory, giving it a 5. I've been with American Home Shield for over five years, largely because I wanted warranty coverage after my original warranties expired. While I find their online service booking convenient, I think their phone service could be improved to make it easier to speak with a representative directly, avoiding numerous recordings.

I've had my ups and downs with American Home Shield, particularly with a recent issue involving my washer. When Kingston Refrigeration Company came out to assess the problem, the technician didn't have all the necessary tools to evaluate and fix it thoroughly. According to him, the washer drum was no longer round and needed replacement, along with a plastic gear. Unfortunately, he didn't have what was needed to access that gear, relying only on the washer's self-diagnostic tool in the end.
American Home Shield replaced the washer for us, which was great. The drum probably would have cost as much as the thing. This was the second repair. In the last year and a half, that plastic gear went out not long after we had bought the house. American Home Shield sent out a fellow who had everything he needed. He was able to replace that gear that had broken. But again, he didn't fully diagnose the problem. We always noticed that that drum wasn't quite round. Every time we go into a spin cycle, the drum will wobble quite severely regardless of what you have in it.
Apparently, they decided it was time to replace the machine but we waited two weeks for these folks to connect with us. We're senior citizens and we couldn't continue going without a washer. We went ahead and purchased the washer on our own and got home to find an email saying that American Home Shield was paying for it. We opted for another Maytag, purchased during a Black Friday sale, using a military discount, which allowed us to break even financially.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with American Home Shield. I would rate them around 4 to 4.5 out of 5 for their service. They've always treated me well, despite being occasionally slow because of service providers. What I appreciate most is their ease of use and reliability, reflecting my long-term relationship with them. They're slightly more expensive than some competitors, but I've stayed with them for years because I trust their service.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for an issue with our heating system. I filed the claim online, and I found their website easy to navigate, which made the process smooth. Before the contractor, Dawson Services, showed up, I received an email, a text, and a phone call informing me of the appointment details. This prompt communication was excellent as they updated me sooner than expected.
When the contractors arrived, they were professional and thoroughly addressed the problem. The issue was a faulty thermostat which had caused our air conditioner to kick in erroneously, leading to further complications. Thankfully, they identified the potential for a more severe problem and fixed it, ensuring our heating was restored.
I have been with American Home Shield since October, having switched from a previous service included with our home purchase. We chose them based on positive reviews from others, and I must say, we are very satisfied. The communication and ease of filing claims are standout features for me.
Overall, I rate their service highly. The customer service, coverage, and their online tools all deserve top marks, although I find the price slightly on the higher side. Nonetheless, I am very pleased with the peace of mind and quality service they provide.
On behalf of American Home Shield, I would like to thank you for choosing us as your warranty provider. Your feedback is appreciated. We’ll be here when you need us. Have an amazing week.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite frustrating. I recently had a service call with CJA Mechanical to address a heating issue. I waited around a week and a half for them to show up. They didn't call to schedule the appointment, so I had to reach out multiple times myself. When they finally arrived, I asked them to contact me upon arrival so I could discuss the issue, as it was for a property where I have a tenant. However, they didn't call and, according to my tenant, they were there for only a couple of seconds before leaving.
I tried calling them for follow-up but got no response. When I contacted American Home Shield, they said they were reviewing the estimate. The next day, I was told that the report mentioned toxic materials in the house, and they couldn't enter even though the tenants said they did. This misleading information was frustrating. American Home Shield took about a week to resolve this issue, and communication was poor throughout.
Eventually, after much insistence and contacting supervisors, they assigned another vendor. This new vendor contacted me within an hour and resolved the issue promptly. During this time, there were two issues that needed to be looked at. American Home Shield said the vendor was not listed as servicing. I reached out to the vendor and they told me they do the service all the time. They had to call American Home Shield, finally got them signed, and they took care of both issues at the same time. Every time I have to call American Home Shield, I feel this same way. I also had to struggle to get a refund for the services from CJA Mechanical, where they initially refused stating no refund after the contractor shows up, regardless of their lack of service or diagnosis.
Overall, the entire process took over two and a half weeks, during which my tenant had no hot water, leading to requests for rent reductions and a lot of wasted hours on my part trying to resolve the issue.

I have been with American Home Shield for almost 24 years since I purchased my house. My recent experiences with them have been mostly positive. Initially, Susina Electric & Appliance Service came out to fix my washing machine, and they did a great job. Later, I had issues with my stove. Sears, who was initially assigned the repair, never showed up and kept pushing back appointments without clear communication.
After I reached out to American Home Shield, they sent Susina Electric & Appliance Service again, who promptly fixed my stove by ordering the necessary parts.
Submitting a claim with American Home Shield online through my phone was easy. The service contractors would inform me ahead of time about their visit through a courtesy call. The technicians from Susina Electric & Appliance Service were professional, efficient, and completed the repairs satisfactorily.
However, I faced a frustrating experience a while back with my hot water heater. The contractor wanted to charge an exorbitant amount for unnecessary work. It was resolved when American Home Shield allowed me to receive the funds for the hot water heater, and my son, who is a licensed plumber, installed it for me. Despite the issue with the hot water heater and the trouble with Sears, overall, the service has been reliable. I've recommended American Home Shield to my children who've bought homes, as they have generally been responsive and efficient in handling claims.
Despite some challenges, particularly with certain contractors like Sears who seemed to prioritize their customers, my satisfaction with Susanna Electric and Appliance Services has been high. For these reasons, I would rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5.

I love the service, but I had some issues. I put in two work orders, one of the garbage disposal. The tech was in for about five minutes and said that he was gonna put my work order in and get back with me. He didn't call me for days. I got back pursuing the garbage disposal and they told me it was gonna be 700-something dollars because the issue was preconditioned. The other claim was for the washer and the tech said there was nothing wrong with it and that I had a leak but it was not the washer. I immediately called AHS and I asked if that work order could just go for the leak. The rep on the phone said that the plumber was here and if we could just go ahead and add it on the order but the plumber had left. There was a dispute about the $125 on both ends because nobody did anything and nobody was in contact with me.
I was charged $250 without any work being completed, which was frustrating. I didn't even want to be compensated with the plumber, who said what he said without any tools, we just wanted them to fix the leak behind the washing machine. It wasn't until I spoke with a diligent supervisor named Terese that the situation improved. Terese was thorough; she reviewed notes, found discrepancies, and ensured I got some of my money back and the necessary repairs were done. While she was superb, most of the other customer service interactions were disappointing, characterized by broken promises and sometimes rude communication. After she fixed everything, AHS had the nerve to still bill me $125 saying I still owed that. I immediately called and told them I had enough and five minutes later, they apologized and told me to disregard the email.
In terms of their policy, I feel the coverage was lacking and uninformative. Although the price I pay is reasonable, the service should be more consistent across the board. Online, I've only had limited interactions with their tools, but they appeared to function without issues. Overall, while my final issues were resolved, it was a lengthy and exhausting process. I gave American Home Shield a three-star rating because, despite the turmoil, they eventually addressed my concerns. But, the entire ordeal definitely needs improvement, especially in terms of initial customer service interactions and communication.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield and needed to file a claim for a plumbing issue. The faucet was leaking, and I submitted the claim online, which was very easy to do. The communication from the contractor, CKC Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning LLC, was straightforward as well; they notified me via text about their arrival.
The service provided by CKC Plumbing was excellent. They identified the issue, which was a broken part, and replaced it. Now, everything is functioning properly. I've been with American Home Shield for about three years, primarily for home warranty purposes. They offer prompt service, which is a significant benefit.
While I appreciate their service, one area for improvement would be their tendency to find reasons to deny claims for minor issues, even when they seem to be covered under the warranty. Despite this, I would still recommend American Home Shield as a good warranty company that takes care of its customers.
Overall, I would rate American Home Shield's customer service as excellent. However, in terms of coverage and pricing, I would give them an average rating. The online tool also works well, making the process easy to navigate.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite frustrating. Recently, Complete Air Mechanical came out to fix my AC, which they managed to repair. However, the overall service from American Home Shield has been inconsistent. I often find myself calling multiple times for the same issue, just to confirm whether something is covered or not because different agents give me different answers.
I had a particularly bad experience with my kitchen range. I placed a service request with all the brand details provided, but the first company they sent didn't even bother to thoroughly inspect it and claimed it was an engine issue not within their scope. The second company also didn't open anything and wrongly diagnosed the problem as a ductwork issue without testing anything. Despite the policy stating ductwork is covered, they said ductwork for kitchen ranges is not, which cost me $125 for a service request and wasted my time.
Efforts to escalate this were futile as American Home Shield didn't investigate further or attempt proper diagnostics. They wanted to send someone else and quote an unnecessary ductwork repair, which I would have to finance without it being confirmed as the problem. I've decided not to go through with unnecessary ceiling renovations based on such poor diagnostics.
American Home Shield's customer service has been disappointing. I've called for electrical repairs which were initially noted as covered, only to be told they aren't upon proceeding. The only somewhat successful service requests were for my AC and a fridge that's still not entirely fixed, requiring multiple visits and part replacements.
Overall, my experience has been very dissatisfying. I wouldn’t recommend them, and plan to cancel the service once I move from my current home. For what I've been paying monthly, the inconsistency and unreliability have not been worth it.

I've had a long-standing relationship with American Home Shield, having been with them for at least 15 years. Overall, I've found them to be beneficial as they have saved us money on various repairs throughout the years. The claims process is generally straightforward and quick. I usually call to speak with an agent, although sometimes there can be a delay or difficulty in communication due to the call centers being located in the Philippines. Sometimes it's quick, but sometimes you could hold for an extended period of time. You know they have something printed because everybody says the exact thing, and you have to wait 5 minutes until they read their entire speech. Then it’s very difficult to have a conversation to try to explain something about what's broken or repaired. On many occasions, I've had to ask for a supervisor.
My experience with All City Appliance and HVAC Service was mixed. Initially, they attempted to repair our dishwasher, but the issue persisted. After following up, American Home Shield initially denied coverage, blaming it on non-normal wear and tear. However, after requesting a second opinion, the repair was successfully completed.
While American Home Shield has provided good service in the past, especially when the process is smooth, there have been instances of frustration due to communication barriers and complicated repairs. An example of this is a pending repair for a garage door opener. American Home Shield sent somebody out. He's not even from New Jersey where I am in, he's from Florida. He's just traveling through the area and picking up work in New Jersey through American Home Shield. He tried to sell me all this extra stuff for several hundred dollars.
Outside of American Home Shield, I called a couple other garage door opener companies, and they both told me that he was trying to rip me off. I called American Home Shield back and spent hours back and forth trying to get it sorted. I had to go through a supervisor, and finally, they said I could get an outside person to do the work. The fee to American Home Shield every time you make a call to have somebody coming out is $135. But they're only gonna give me $100 towards my repair, so I'm paying more than I'm getting back, even though it's a covered service.
Overall, I would rate American Home Shield somewhere in the middle. There are both good and challenging experiences, and while I'm mostly satisfied, there's definitely room for improvement, particularly in communication.

I've had ongoing issues with my refrigerator freezer covered by American Home Shield. Over five visits from different contractors, including Gary Appliance Repair, the freezer part of the fridge still doesn't freeze, causing the ice maker to leak. All contractors have said that the LG refrigerator is poorly made and would continue having problems. I had the compressor replaced last year, yet the issue persists. One contractor claimed to fix a leak, but two weeks later, the problem returned. We've refused repeat services as they do the same thing without resolving the issue. After expressing our frustration, the last contractor agreed that we needed a new refrigerator.
Our experience with American Home Shield support has been frustrating. It felt like they were reading from a script, without truly listening, leading to ineffective solutions. The language barrier was there. They didn't understand what I was saying and I barely understood what they were saying. I threatened to cancel and called my attorney, which I did. They're prepared to do whatever they need to do on our behalf to make sure we get a new refrigerator. We're switching companies if we find a better option, as we've been disappointed as long-standing customers. I would discourage friends and family from using American Home Shield due to our negative experiences, especially since we've had previous issues with different appliances as well at our previous address.

He mentioned a potential issue with the chip board due to its age but assured me I could call if further problems arose. Fortunately, everything has been running smoothly since.
This was my first experience with American Home Shield, and I've found it very beneficial, especially as a relatively new homeowner. My experience with American Home Shield recently left me feeling quite frustrated. I contacted them for issues with my electrical system and garbage disposal. Initially, I thought an electrician could handle both, but the representative informed me that a plumber was also needed. When the electrician arrived, he mentioned that he could have handled both tasks, which left me feeling like I had wasted $125.
The plumber was here for less than five minutes, and based on a conversation I had with a former plumber, it seems he might have just used an Allen wrench to fix the issue under the garbage disposal. The electrician was friendly but charged me extra—$125 for tracing the wire, which I believed should have been covered under the warranty. Overall, I ended up paying an additional $225, and there were still unresolved issues, such as a non-working socket in my master bedroom. He said it was gonna be an additional $75 just to run power from one of the other sockets in the room to that socket to get that one working.
Although everyone I interacted with was nice, I felt like I wasted a lot of money. I also encountered issues with the ceiling fan in my grandson's room, which the electrician did not address. Furthermore, outside ceiling fans weren't covered by the warranty. Overall, I'd rate this experience a 3 out of 5, highlighting the friendly service but also the inefficiencies and extra costs I incurred.
Your feedback is more than appreciated and we would be glad to speak with you regarding your AHS experience.

The experience was generally positive when I recently dealt with American Home Shield for a furnace issue where there was a problem with the blower motor. The technician from Affordable Heat & Air was excellent. He was informative and even did some extra cleaning, which I appreciated. It was also convenient that the repair was completed on the same day.
In the past, my experience with the technicians provided by American Home Shield has been okay overall. However, I've encountered repeated issues with breakers. Different technicians have used varied approaches and provided conflicting information regarding codes. This inconsistency makes it hard to understand whether my home complies with current standards, which is concerning, especially regarding safety.
I would prefer a more consistent company philosophy to follow over time, especially for issues like breaker problems. Despite this, other repairs, like those related to the AC or heating, have been successful without a need for follow-up.
Overall, I am generally satisfied with the service from American Home Shield. Though the cost is a bit high, the customer service is excellent, the website experience is decent, and the overall coverage is good.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for almost two years and overall, my experience has been quite satisfactory. Recently, I had an issue with a leak under my sink involving the gooseneck pipe. American Home Shield sent out All American Plumbing and Rooter Service, and they did an excellent job fixing the problem. They were efficient, and everything was put back together well. On another occasion, I had an issue with my commode, which they also resolved without any hassle. The workers were really nice and professional each time they visited.
If someone were to ask me about American Home Shield, I would definitely recommend their services. I've known other companies that operate differently, often providing checks if something can't be fixed, but I prefer American Home Shield's approach. They either fix the problem or replace the item, which is more convenient and cost-effective for me.
Their customer service is commendable as well. For example, there was a time when I needed immediate assistance, and they managed to schedule a visit for the next day after I explained my urgency. They kept me informed about who would be coming and when, which I appreciated.
Regarding their pricing, it's comparable to other companies. While some might be slightly cheaper, I find the value and service I receive to be quite satisfactory. I haven't used their online service to submit requests, but my interactions with them over the phone have been quite positive.
In conclusion, I rate my experience with American Home Shield very highly and would give them five stars based on the quality of their service, prompt response, and overall customer service.

I cancelled my plan with American Home Shield after a disappointing experience. Initially, I purchased their highest plan, under the impression that diagnostic fees were covered. During my first claim, Hers and His Plumbing was able to unclog my drain successfully. However, when I encountered a bubbling sound in my toilet and water backing up in the bathtub while doing laundry, things became problematic. Although the plumber managed to clear the immediate issue, I realized that thorough diagnostics, such as using a camera to inspect the pipes, were not covered under my plan. This was contrary to my understanding and seemed misleading.
Furthermore, during this process, the plumber informed me that American Home Shield does not cover extended water lines from outside my house, unlike some other companies. Given my older property's needs, this service limitation became another point of contention. I felt misled by what I initially believed was covered and thus decided it was not worth the continued cost, especially when compared to appliances and AC repairs that might be more manageable or cheaper to handle independently.
I've been with American Home Shield for about a year, and while their customer service was generally good, involving multiple calls and some hassle to cancel, I didn't feel they were delivering on what was promised in terms of coverage. I appreciate the prompt contact and service from their customer service team, but the limitations in coverage led me to rethink my engagement with them.

Over a week later, still no response to fix my plumbing issue. AHS had a dozen “by the manual” reasons/responses as to why I hadn’t received service. They take your money instantly but only reimburse customers after a 10-day waiting period. I canceled my service plan which I paid over $1400 for the year without using. Buyer beware. They provide a service for a fee, but when they don’t respond or fix the issue, they reimburse you on a prorated amount. I see it more like stealing your money on a promise, than doing what they can to keep as much of your money without providing a service, and attempt to retain the money they took from you.

Gray Cap Plumbing came out, but they didn't do anything because they said the toilet needed to be removed, and my contract with American Home Shield wouldn't cover that. They didn't even snake the toilet. My son ended up removing the toilet, and we hired a local plumber to snake it multiple times without any blockage found, but we still have a backup issue. The local plumber mentioned they might need to remove the drywall in the basement to inspect the plumbing, but I'm unsure if that’s covered by my contract with American Home Shield.
I've been with American Home Shield for more than three years. However, in situations like this plumbing issue, I'm stressed about whether it will be covered, especially with costs potentially reaching $4000 to $7,000. I've seen limits in my contract of $1,000 and $250, so I'm concerned it might not be sufficient. It's a bit stressful right before Christmas. I wish the contract was more lucrative in that respect. I initially encountered issues with American Home Shield's vendor selection. After submitting a claim concerning my water heater, which caught fire, the company promptly replaced it rather than attempting a repair. However, the main challenge arose from their choice of technicians. Twice, they tried to dispatch technicians notorious for their poor reputation and inadequate customer service. It was only after insisting and escalating the matter to higher levels within the company that I managed to get a more reputable vendor assigned. This insistence was essential, as their initial responses suggested it was not possible to switch vendors, which I found misleading.
Despite these hurdles, once the suitable technicians were selected, the service and coverage provided by American Home Shield were satisfactory. The coverage itself is comprehensive, although I am concerned about rising costs. The process of submitting claims online is straightforward and user-friendly.
Overall, my experience has been mixed. While the coverage and ultimate service quality were commendable, the initial difficulty in vendor selection detracted from the overall experience. The company's rigidity in sticking with preferred vendors needs addressing to improve customer satisfaction.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for my washing machine, which had a leak. While the initial repair visit had a communication issue due to a language barrier with the technician, it was quickly resolved. I contacted the service department, and they clarified that a part needed to be ordered. Once the part arrived, the technician returned and completed the job efficiently, although communication was still a bit challenging. Ultimately, the repair was successful, and everything is back to normal.
This was my first experience with such a situation and it's good to know they respond well. I've used American Home Shield a few times before, but nothing like this happened previously. Based on this experience, I would recommend American Home Shield and rate them highly. I gave them a 4 for their service, a 5 for the online experience, and a 4 for the pricing, which I find a bit on the higher side. The coverage was satisfactory for my needs. Overall, despite the initial hiccup, I am happy with the service.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield and overall, it was positive. They handled my claim well, although there was a bit of a delay with the installation of a new microwave because they initially couldn't find anyone in my small town to do it. I'm in a town of only 8,000. The microwave was sitting in my kitchen, and I had to make a number of calls to get the installation done. Eventually, they arranged for someone from a neighboring town, which resolved the issue after about a week. The installation itself went smoothly, and I was pleased with the service once it was arranged.
Previously, I had plumbing problems when I first moved in, and American Home Shield took care of everything completely. While I did experience some inconvenience with the appliance installation, my experience with their customer service has generally been good. I'd rate my overall experience as a 4 out of 5.
Your feedback is more than appreciated and we hope you continue to enjoy AHS!

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for my heater not turning on properly. The process started online, but I found their website quite confusing—I struggled to determine the right service request option. Once I managed to submit the claim, a local contractor contacted me to schedule the service. Although I wasn't present when the contractor arrived, they promptly identified the issue as a sticking gas valve. The next day, everything was functioning perfectly, with the heater responding well to temperature adjustments.
Despite this effective service, I would rate American Home Shield a 3 due to the cost of the yearly contract and a $100 service fee, which feels hard to justify when I only use it once or twice a year. In terms of customer service, my experiences have not been very positive—they weren't very accommodating or friendly. I would also rate their price and coverage as a 2 and a 3 respectively, and the website as a 3 due to its usability issues. What I appreciate most is the decent response time, which is crucial for rural areas like mine where service options are limited.

My heater wasn't turning on and when I submitted the claim, it was fairly easy. I just clicked boxes and I received the contractor’s name and number and it said they would be in contact within 24 hours. The service from Efficiency Experts was excellent. They came within an hour on the same day they contacted me. They fixed a control board and an igniter. I've been with American Home Shield for probably 20 years. I recently filed a claim with American Home Shield for a drain plumbing issue. This time, the process went smoothly. The claim was quickly assigned, and a technician arrived within three days, resolving the problem in just a couple of hours. However, my previous experiences haven't been as positive.
I had a challenging situation when I filed a request for a lock change due to a nanny replacement. The claim was initially canceled without notification. Upon reapplying, it took a long time to get it assigned, and when a vendor finally arrived, he claimed it wasn’t covered, although I knew it was the same service I'd previously received. Despite explaining this to American Home Shield, they insisted on a "diagnosis," which seemed irrelevant for a lock change. This back and forth continued until they finally agreed to cancel the claim, refund my deductible, and suggested I start over. The prospect of being reassigned to the same non-responsive vendor led me to handle it on my own.
Overall, American Home Shield's network and customer service seem lacking, particularly for non-standard requests. The recent plumbing claim went well, likely because it was straightforward. However, my earlier lock change experience was draining and frustrating. I'd recommend American Home Shield only with caution due to the inconsistent support I've encountered. There should be more focus on understanding what they're dealing with. And I know these are call centers and scripts but there has to be at least one person on the team empowered to say that it might need to go a different path and we might need to try something different because this doesn't make sense.

I had a furnace issue where it wasn't starting, so I initiated a claim through the American Home Shield website. The process was quite simple and straightforward. After submitting the claim on a Friday or Saturday, I received a call on Monday morning informing me that Superior Heating, AC, and Plumbing Inc. would handle the issue, as they were the closest contractors available.
When Superior Heating arrived, I found their service to be professional. They quickly identified the problem and managed to get the furnace running initially. They mentioned needing to order two parts to fully resolve the issue and came back the next day to install them. Since then, everything has been functioning well.
I've had American Home Shield coverage for nearly two years, starting from when I closed on my new home. I've had two service calls, and I appreciate the promptness and priority they place on addressing issues. I would definitely recommend them to anyone considering home warranty coverage.

I recently had both positive and negative experiences with American Home Shield. On a positive note, they replaced our air conditioner over the summer, and the technicians did an outstanding job. They arrived quickly and resolved the issue efficiently, which left us quite satisfied at the time.
However, our experience with the washer was much less smooth. The first time they came out on a Friday, the guy spent 10 seconds in front of the washer. He pushed two buttons on the front, some blinking lights came on, and he said I had a problem with the pump and the housing. They sent a pump and a housing that got here on Monday, but they couldn't get here for another two weeks.
The guy came out and put the pump and the housing. I turned the washer on, it spun, and he walked out the door. It started making a real loud noise and grinding. I ran out and caught him, and he came back in and restarted it. It restarted but did the same thing. He said it needed another part, and he'd have to have somebody sent out to do a diagnostic on it. Two weeks later, the original guy came back out, did a diagnostic and said the motor was bad. They were gonna have to replace the magneto and a motor. It took him another two weeks to get out here to do that. Once they got all that stuff done, it now works great. But we were down for almost seven weeks.
It was unacceptable because I got myself, my wife, and a son here in the house and we couldn't wash clothes. I had to go to a friend's house and sit at his house for four hours and do laundry so we could get through the week. I called Sears at least 20 times over the course of that month and asked if they could please get somebody out here. They said they didn't have any earlier dates then we were finally told not to call again. I called American Home Shield but they said we had to go with Sears. They also changed their appointments. One of them was supposed to be out here on a Monday but they called 15 minutes before the appointment and told us they could not come that day when I already took the day off.
While American Home Shield's warranty coverage is generally good, I've noticed a trend of them contributing less financially over time for repairs. The cost-sharing with our air conditioner's replacement left us paying a significant amount. We paid $3000 and they paid $2800.
Additionally, their online tools and website are difficult to navigate, which seems intentional to reduce customer contact. They don't wanna deal with you. They just want you to call then they'll figure out when somebody can come out. They don't wanna keep getting phone calls.
Overall, the initial response to major issues is prompt, but the follow-through, especially with complicated appliance repairs, leaves room for improvement.

I recently had a service call through American Home Shield and Sears to replace my microwave door due to a broken handle. The process went smoothly, as I contacted American Home Shield by phone, and everything was efficiently taken care of. I know they have an online service and an app for requests, but I don't have a home computer and it's hard to do on a phone. Plus, I like to talk to a person. I quickly received a call from Sears, and although it took a little while for the part to arrive, once it was delivered to my home, they came to install it.
I've been with American Home Shield for many years and have never experienced any issues with them. In a previous home, they replaced the air conditioning unit. The only inconvenience was waiting for the unit to arrive from New York. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield; they are a great company.
I consistently rate my experience with them as excellent across all aspects—customer service, service quality, and pricing. While I don't remember what they charge for a service call, I'm sure it's cheaper than having to pay for it ourselves.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when I had an issue with my refrigerator. It was quite frustrating initially because it took a long time to resolve. There was a lot of back-and-forth regarding responsibility between American Home Shield and the refrigerator manufacturer since it was under warranty. Unfortunately, I was without a working refrigerator for two months. However, once I got past that and they finally deemed it as irrepairable, American Home Shield covered the cost, and everything was resolved.
Since the repair, the refrigerator has been functioning well. Overall, aside from that extended and challenging experience, things have been fine with them. I would rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5 overall. Their customer service was excellent. I recently had a very frustrating experience with American Home Shield. Initially, they were supposed to address issues with my refrigerator, which was an ongoing saga. I purchased the refrigerator from Lowe's, and while they delivered it, the doors weren't leveled properly. The delivery guys and another team failed to fix it due to missing spacers, which led me back and forth between Lowe's and the delivery service without a resolution. It was baffling that they came without the necessary tools, like a level, and used mine eventually.
The real issue was with my existing refrigerator's multiple failures. Despite several service visits to fix the ice maker and main components, including ordering a new motherboard, it remained non-functional, leaving us without a refrigerator for over two months. We incurred losses from spoiling food each time it failed. When I requested a replacement due to their repeated attempts to repair it unsuccessfully, American Home Shield offered a mere $900 after deducting what was paid to repairmen, which was inadequate as the new one cost me $3,000.
I've had American Home Shield for about a year and a half to two years, paying $100 monthly and $125 per technician visit, yet they provided no real benefit. I found the service a financial burden rather than an advantage. While the technicians were competent and did their best, their hands were tied by company limitations. If I were to rate them, it would certainly be low, leaning towards being very dissatisfied. They involved me in a stressful, time-consuming, and financially straining process.
I wouldn't recommend this service to friends or family. My advice would be to push for a replacement immediately rather than endure costly and ineffective repairs. The only positive aspect was the technicians' earnest efforts amid these constraints, but overall, the customer service and pricing were disappointing.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for quite some time, and I've had mixed experiences with them. Recently, they sent out Garage Door Corporation to fix my garage door, which they managed to do in a timely manner, and I haven't had any issues since.
However, my concern lies with the pricing structure. I pay around $80 a month, and each service call costs an additional $100. In some situations, it seems that I might save money by hiring someone directly, even though American Home Shield does provide multiple services within that cost. They did come out for issues with my stove and dryer, although the dryer took two to three attempts to fix, and I wasn't satisfied with the initial technician's work.
The customer service experience could be improved. I usually contact them by phone, but I had difficulty understanding the representative's accent despite her being very polite. This made communication challenging.
Overall, I'd rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 4 out of 5, mainly due to the recurring dryer issue and the challenges in communication. For pricing, I'd rate it a 3 out of 5 because the recurring monthly fees and per-service charge feel quite high.

I had a very challenging experience with American Home Shield and their contractor, Jet Electrical Installation INC. A power outage affected half of my house, and Jet Electric's quick assessment was to replace the entire electrical box, citing a broken main breaker. They insisted I get a city permit, which delayed services. It took over two weeks without electricity, during which they mistakenly submitted paperwork as a remodel to Edison. This contributed to a significant delay because the submission wasn't prioritized.
In an attempt to expedite matters, I contacted Edison directly for proper guidance. I also reached out to Stan Vier Electric, a local company, for a second opinion. They found that a complete box replacement wasn't necessary—just a bus bar and breaker replacement—and no permit was required. This issue disrupted our lives significantly. My sister, who is 75, and I had to rely on generators, we lost some food, and we were cooking outside on a propane barbecue.
I have been with American Home Shield for eight years, initially choosing them because my husband, who could fix most things, worked out of town. However, my experience with them has been disappointing, largely because they use contractors from far locations and do not have reliable ones locally. My dissatisfaction extends beyond this incident; for example, my AC took a month to repair during the hottest time of the year due to delayed approvals and part issues from American Home Shield. Moreover, they raised their rates without notice by $50 a month, which has become unaffordable for me. Overall, I am very dissatisfied with their service and am considering canceling my coverage.

My experience with American Home Shield regarding a claim for my air conditioning unit was quite frustrating. Our AC upstairs failed in March, and the initial contractor, MJS Mechanical, was sent out. The technician indicated he could fix the issue and provided my husband with his cell number, promising to return but never did. We ended up calling weekly but received promises of return calls, which never came. In August, I was surprised to receive an email saying our repairs were complete, which was not true. I repeatedly tried to contact them, leaving voicemails, but to no avail. Not only that, the guy left all the stuff outside. He took the air conditioner apart and left it in a big pile on my patio. We had a hurricane in Houston and my husband stuck a blue tarp over it to cover it up so that the parts didn't go flying away in the hurricane.
Ultimately, after much persistence, a second vendor, SIEVER, was sent out. Their technician was professional and noted the previous work done was incomplete and problematic. Their company escalated the issue to the local representative for AHS, which eventually led to action. The first company, MJS, was made to replace the unit at no cost and bring everything up to code. While the end result was satisfactory, the whole ordeal was miserable; it took from March to November to resolve. Dealing with American Home Shield's customer service was frustrating as it often felt like a dead-end. Calls were directed to foreign call centers where representatives gave generic responses without real solutions. If we had someone living upstairs, it would have been unbearable.
I would have just called someone else and paid for it. And in doing that, it would have voided my coverage with AHS. So, I don't know what can be done to fix that but they need to hire more local, US-based people that can help the homeowner because it was miserable. It's sad because that's gonna cost AHS members because a lot of people are gonna cancel. My husband even thought about canceling but we can't cancel until at least we get this resolved with the pile that the guy left on my patio. The process exposed systemic issues in communication and service delivery. I appreciated that the second vendor got the local AHS representative involved, which eventually prompted MJS to resolve the situation. It seemed as if MJS was initially trying to strong-arm us into using them for replacements at high prices, which was dishonest.
Reflecting on this experience, American Home Shield has quality coverage but lacks effective customer service and communication. The first guy ended up having to pay for it and they gave us the free unit. But the second guy is the one that got the local rep involved. But because Home Shield is using that foreign call center, there's nobody that can do anything if you have a problem like we had. If I could have just talked to AHS in the middle of all that, it would have gotten solved. This experience was disheartening, and improvements are necessary to ensure customer satisfaction and trust.

I've had American Home Shield for over a decade now. Initially, their service saved me substantial amounts on repairs, such as for our washer and dryer. However, my recent experience was frustrating. We faced a significant delay of about 20 days to replace a malfunctioning hot water tank. This was primarily due to a communication gap between American Home Shield and the contractors, All Hours Emergency Plumber LLC. The plumbing company would have to replace the hot water tank and they said that they were waiting on approval from American Home Shield. When I called and I finally got ahold of somebody from AHS, there was going to be some kind of an additional charge, which we had never even been notified about that that was the hold-up. Despite the plumber being courteous, the initial repair attempt failed, and we endured almost three weeks without hot water—a real challenge given my husband's and my health concerns.
We've had American Home Shield for years and despite the delay in getting things fixed, it has saved us a lot of money. But lately, we’re not happy. They could improve on the timing of getting repairs done. It shouldn't take three weeks to replace the hot water tank. If I'd had the money, I could have gone to Home Depot, bought one and had it installed within 48 to 72 hours, whereas it took three weeks because of a lack of communication between American Home Shield, the plumbing company, and back again, and with us. I shouldn't have to continually be calling to follow up.
While we ended up incurring additional charges, which were unanticipated and not covered by the warranty, we had to involve a local electrician to resolve wiring issues. This unexpected expense totaled around $800, which is burdensome since we're on a fixed Social Security income. The price started at $50 and then, it went up to $75. Now it's $100. But I get it. AHS has done the garage door opener, we had a fan motor replaced and we've had service done on dryers and washers and the refrigerator. But this time, it was a large chunk of money for people on Social Security.
Historically, American Home Shield has been beneficial, but the service has become less reliable lately. Improvements in communication and quicker resolution times are necessary. The online tool remains efficient, allowing convenient claim submissions. However, this positive aspect does little to offset the recent service shortcomings.

However, just a couple of days later, the furnace stopped working again. I had to contact American Home Shield, and they sent someone to replace a motherboard, which seems to have resolved the issue for now.
One thing I can say is that the American Home Shield representatives are professional, but it does seem like their customer service is outsourced to another country, which sometimes creates a slight communication barrier. I don't have problems with their technicians since they generally come out quickly once called, which is something I appreciate about the service.
However, communication needs improvement. For instance, the service fees have increased significantly from when I first started from $75 to $125, and the communication about contract renewal and cancellation policies was not clear to me. Additionally, I found it inconvenient when my furnace issue wasn't caught the first time, which required a second visit to resolve. Such repeat visits during freezing weather were quite inconvenient, although my family managed with space heaters.
Regarding the service, while I am grateful for the prompt dispatch of technicians when needed, the negotiation for price reduction felt unnecessarily prolonged. It took over two hours to get my rate adjusted closer to what it was when I started. This hassle made me reconsider my future with them once my contract expires.
Overall, I would rate the coverage as strong, but the fluctuating prices and lengthy negotiation processes are concerning. While I was able to lower my monthly payments after negotiating, I'm unsure if I'll continue with them beyond the current term.

I received a text from American Home Shield and the heating company, Budget HVAC, before the contractor showed up.
The overall interaction with Budget HVAC was mostly positive, though there was some trouble sourcing parts. I recently had to deal with a plumbing issue and reached out to American Home Shield for assistance. I asked my daughter to help file the claim since I wasn't sure if we still had their services. The contractor, Rod Plumbing, arrived to address the issue. While they were polite, the problem with the toilet persists. The contractor suggested that using both buttons on top of the tank might improve the flushing, but the water pressure is still low, which causes the toilet to flush slowly.
Although I'm satisfied with American Home Shield and would rate them a 3 out of 5, the toilet issue hasn't been fully resolved. Despite this, I appreciate the services they provide since they have helped with other issues in the past. I've been with them for over a decade, mainly because of the reliability of having coverage for unexpected breakdowns. I'd recommend American Home Shield to friends and family, as you never know when you might face an emergency.

May Heating and Air came out to look at the heater, which had an issue where the thermostat would turn off and not come back on. The process to submit the claim to American Home Shield was extremely easy, and I received information about the contractor, including their name, company, and phone number before they arrived.
The service and interaction with the contractor were very good, and the technician instructed me on what to do with the thermostat to resolve the problem. Currently, everything is functioning fine. If I were to rate American Home Shield, I would recommend them to friends based on my positive experience. They provided excellent coverage and a smooth service process throughout the claim.

I've had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. My recent claim process for a plumbing issue was relatively smooth. The leaking faucet under the kitchen sink was quickly addressed, which initially seemed satisfactory. However, there was another leak just yesterday that I had to fix on my own. It wasn't related to the faucet but involved some other plumbing connections. The online portal for submitting claims was straightforward to use, and the plumber who attended was competent.
Despite the initial resolution, I tend to feel cautious because of past experiences. Around a year and a half ago, I faced significant delays with a pool issue that American Home Shield didn't address for over a year. This understandably left a lasting impression.
Overall, while the immediate plumbing issue was handled well, my previous difficulties with them influence my perception, leading me to rate their service a 3 out of 5.

My recent experience with American Home Shield was very satisfying. I called them regarding a leak issue, and they promptly sent out a plumber. Although the leak was outside and not covered by my plan, they effectively diagnosed the issue, allowing me to seek the necessary help from my other service. The contractor was extremely professional and knowledgeable, which made the whole process easier for me. Overall, I am pleased with their service and the professionalism exhibited. While they couldn't fix the leak because it was outside, they did a great job in identifying the problem. My interactions with them have been positive, and I would readily recommend American Home Shield.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield because my water heater was leaking, and the process was quite straightforward—I called them directly. The contractor, iPlumb LLC, who came out was professional and polite. They replaced the water heater, and while they did have to return for a minor adjustment, everything has been excellent since then.
Communication from American Home Shield was comprehensive as I received calls and text messages about the service appointment. However, finding the contact information initially was a bit challenging, as it required some digging through old emails.
Overall, I'd recommend American Home Shield. It's easy to get in touch with customer service and usually, it's straightforward. The representatives seemed knowledgeable.

I recently had a disappointing experience with American Home Shield. When the tech from Furnace Doctors came out for a scheduled repair, they failed to complete the work. It has been over a month, and I've been caught in a frustrating cycle of calling for updates. Although the customer service team is polite, they're unable to take effective action to resolve my issue. They keep telling me the problem is escalated and that someone will call, but nothing has happened.
In terms of service quality, I would rate my experience a 2 out of 5 due to the unresolved issues and lack of follow-up. The pricing seems fair, but I noticed an automatic increase in cost for one of my homes without any explanation or benefit. Overall, the lack of progress and communication has left me dissatisfied with the service.

I recently dealt with American Home Shield regarding an issue with my dryer. The heating element stopped working, and even after they "fixed" it, the problem resurfaced just 45 days later. I was frustrated because I had to pay another service fee for the same issue within such a short period. After the first failed repair, I requested a different service provider, fearing another breakdown.
Overall, my past experiences with American Home Shield have been decent, but this recent incident was disappointing, especially when long-term customers are involved. The technicians themselves have been polite and respectful during their visits.
However, I've noticed a significant increase in both their prices and deductible over the past year or two. This, combined with the recent dryer issue, has made me consider looking for alternatives. It's not just about the recurring fee—having to pay again for the same problem within a short timeframe seems unfair, and I don't believe it was right for them to charge me twice.
My rating for American Home Shield would be around a 3, considering the overall service, price, and coverage. Their customer service, on the other hand, I would rate a bit higher, as a 4. Despite the recent setbacks, their representative was understanding and patient. However, I'm still pondering if it's worth staying with them due to the increased costs and recent inconveniences.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield when the pressure valve on my hot water heater broke. Submitting the claim online was straightforward, as the website is user-friendly. Before the contractor, Best Way Mechanical INC, arrived, I received text and email notifications, including a picture of the technician who would be coming.
When the contractor arrived, he was professional and friendly. Interestingly, he had helped with a previous issue I had with my toilet. For the hot water heater, he successfully replaced the pressure valve, and everything has been working well since. As for the toilet, he resolved a simple issue with the flapper that I could have fixed myself had I known.
I've been with American Home Shield for nearly three years. What I appreciate most about their service is the assurance that I can get issues fixed without bearing the full cost. I would rate my experience with them highly as I haven't faced any major issues. So far, every problem I've had has been addressed satisfactorily, including getting a new stove through their service.

The temperature sensor was broken so our pool was registering 134 degrees. The contractor was very thorough, nice and polite. He was also on time. He replaced the sensor and it’s working fine now. American Home Shield is prompt. Sometimes it can take some extra days to get people out here, but most of the time, their process is smooth and the people generally come out when they say they're going to. We’ve had home warranty programs over the years and they pay for themselves almost every year. AHS went up quite a bit on their price in our last plan, so I wasn't super happy about that. But that's just the way it is. I wish they covered more but for the most part, they cover quite a bit.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a dryer that was not functioning. Submitting a claim online was straightforward, which I appreciated. However, the communication with the contractor, Antech Appliances, was less than satisfactory. Although I received a notification about their arrival time, I had to call them repeatedly to ensure they would show up.
When the technician from Antech Appliances arrived, his demeanor was unprofessional. He advised that if the dryer broke again, not to contact them, which was really surprising because my home warranty requires me to go through them. American Home Shield used the same contractor even after this incident, which puzzled me.
The repair seemed to temporarily fix the dryer, but it eventually broke down again, prompting me to schedule another appointment with them. As of now, I would rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5, as I am waiting to see how they handle this recurring issue. I inherited the service from the previous homeowners, and one thing I do appreciate is the ease of filing claims online.

I recently had the opportunity to work with both American Home Shield and Metropolitan Heating and Air. Initially, when Metropolitan came out, they tackled a disconnection issue in my heating system and replaced the filter. However, a week or two later, the power system became unbalanced and started making a lot of noise. I reached out for a follow-up visit, and the same technician came back to resolve the issue. The staff were friendly, passionate, and performed their jobs well, leaving me with no complaints.
I contacted American Home Shield initially by phone, but for the follow-up, I utilized their website and app to book an appointment. If asked about my experience with American Home Shield, I'd say I'm generally happy with their service. I recently had a couple of experiences with American Home Shield, specifically when dealing with claims for my stovetop and refrigerator. The issue with my stovetop was that one burner was not getting hot enough to boil water efficiently. Unfortunately, this wasn't considered severe enough to warrant a replacement so it wasn't covered by American Home Shield. But that's not a problem with the contractor. That's an American Home Shield problem. As for the refrigerator, I experienced a temporary problem where the freezer stopped working. Luckily, the issue resolved itself before the repair team arrived.
Regarding the claim process, I find it fairly easy to navigate their website and select the necessary options. The company typically provides the name and contact information of the contractor beforehand. In my case, Shoreline Appliance and Repair have been dispatched a few times by American Home Shield, and their service has generally been good and flexible.
While I appreciate the service, I do notice a decline in value over the years, with rising costs and reduced coverage. I would rate my overall satisfaction as 3.5 to 4 out of 5. However, I still recommend having a home warranty like American Home Shield, especially for new homeowners.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield and am quite satisfied with their service. My most recent service call was about a leaking hot water tank. I submitted my claim through the American Home Shield portal and received prompt communication detailing the technician's arrival time. They even called to inform me they were about 40 minutes away, which was appreciated.
The contractor assigned to my case was professional and knowledgeable and was accompanied by an assistant. They informed me about the necessary steps to replace the water heater and evaluated a sump pump issue. Their professionalism was commendable, and the experience reassured me about the coverage American Home Shield provides.
I've been a customer since I initially purchased the home and chose American Home Shield primarily for its affordability, especially given my need to manage expenses wisely as a single mom. Their prompt scheduling of appointments is particularly impressive, minimizing delays in getting necessary repairs started. I had my first policy for about a year and a half and felt protected the entire time. After working with the contractors and saving on repair expenses, it only made sense to go back with them and reopen my contract with them. Most recently, I signed up in September and the warranty took effect in October. So, this is a new go-around. I have that peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong, I can have someone come out to take a look at it just by paying that service call fee.
If there was a way to provide more details about appliances needing service before a technician visit, it could streamline the process, saving time and possibly reducing the number of service calls needed. Despite any suggestions for improvement, I find the investment worthwhile, given the high costs of home repairs nowadays. I would certainly recommend American Home Shield to friends and family as a smart way to maintain a home in good condition while managing costs. Overall, I rate their customer service, coverage, and affordability very highly, and using the online tool was satisfactory.

I've had the system for 10 years without any issues, but when American Home Shield sent AC Wizards INC. to check it, they claimed the control box wasn't installed correctly and was missing components, despite it functioning perfectly for a decade.
I expressed my frustration to the company, stating that the system worked flawlessly for 10 years, but their response was unsatisfactory, stating they could only comment on its current state. This didn't make sense to me, as they identified a missing power converter, yet the unit should have ceased functioning long ago if that's the case. I requested a second opinion, but my claim fell just outside the coverage window, leaving the issue unresolved.
Surprisingly, the unit began working perfectly after the technician left, which puzzled me further. Without heat initially, it now heats perfectly, shutting off as needed without blowing unnecessary air.

What I like most about the service is its convenience. Whenever I submit a claim, I can expect a response by the next business day. I have no complaints or suggestions for improvement at the moment. I have already recommended American Home Shield to friends, indicating my satisfaction with their service.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield when dealing with an issue with my refrigerator. The motherboard went out, and I had to submit a claim for repairs. Initially, I reported the problem over the phone, but communication was difficult because I often spoke with representatives who were hard to understand. Moreover, I was given no information about the contractor before they appeared at my home.
When the contractor eventually came, he assessed the refrigerator and confirmed that a motherboard replacement was needed. However, it took nearly two months for any action to be taken. During this time, I repeatedly contacted American Home Shield for updates, but my messages seemed to go unanswered. Fortunately, I had an old refrigerator to use, but the extended wait was very frustrating.
I initially chose American Home Shield to help cover the costs of appliance repairs, especially after having a positive experience with Sears warranty before they went out of business. However, my dissatisfaction began early during my first claim after two months of service when my water pump failed. Despite the urgency, I was told I'd have to wait until after a holiday weekend to get assistance, which prompted me to pay for the repair myself and decide not to renew the service.
What I did like about American Home Shield was the range of coverage they offered at a reasonable price. However, I feel they need to treat repair situations with a sense of urgency and empathy, as if these issues were happening in their own homes. The lack of water and a functioning refrigerator was a significant inconvenience that they didn't seem to understand or address promptly.
Overall, while I appreciated the pricing and coverage, the service response times and lack of communication were disappointing, leading me to ultimately cancel my policy.
I hate to hear your experience has caused some frustration. I would love to assist with unresolved claims and concerns. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

I recently had a disappointing experience with American Home Shield. After encountering issues with my furnace, I decided not to engage with the technician they sent, opting instead to take the cash in lieu offered and find a replacement elsewhere. This decision stemmed from a lack of comfort with their selected service provider, Fast Response Heating and Cooling.
This was the second incident with American Home Shield where out-of-pocket expenses were significant and not covered under the contract. The cash in lieu offered was insufficient to meet the replacement costs I expected. Consequently, I canceled my service with them as the process felt cumbersome and unsatisfactory.
Moreover, NBC's national news coverage highlighted American Home Shield's handling of similar customer issues, which resonated with my experience. It's problematic that consumers aren't able to review the contract thoroughly before committing to anything. Once in a situation, you often find there's insufficient coverage due to various exclusions.
Overall, I rated their service at 3 out of 5 due to these ongoing issues. The pricing received a 2 due to incremental increases over my years with them. Although the customer service was reasonable, deserving a 4, the coverage again rated only a 3 due to unexpected exclusions. While the initial sales and marketing were fine when I signed up several years ago, the value proposition has diminished over time, also rating a 3.
Despite the issues, I found their website easy to use for submitting claims, rating that aspect a 5.

I have been using American Home Shield (AHS) protection for over 24 years, since purchasing my home. Throughout my time with them, I've had both good and bad experiences. On one occasion, the igniter on my heater went out, and while Rescue Your Air and Drain came out to help resolve it, it became evident that the contractors AHS used could sometimes be lazy. For instance, one of their contractors downplayed the issues with my HVAC system. Eventually, after another opinion, I received a whole new unit because the initial technician wasn’t thorough.
Despite these challenges, having American Home Shield has been beneficial. They covered repairs for my heating and air conditioning systems, which would have been cumbersome and expensive without their service. While I've occasionally had to pay $100 service fees for different items, like for the system upstairs or wiring complications, the major work like replacing the whole unit was generally covered.
However, I did face issues with their customer service, particularly when it came to receiving a copy of my policy. They promised to send a copy months ago, but I never received it, even after multiple follow-ups. It's frustrating to deal with representatives who don't fully understand the importance of delivering specific documentation as promised.
On the whole, I would give American Home Shield a rating of 4 out of 5. While their service has covered significant expenses that I might not have managed otherwise, their customer-facing service leaves room for improvement.

I recently had a couple of service experiences with American Home Shield. The most recent was a repair on my refrigerator, which had stopped keeping a cool temperature. I found the claim submission process over the phone to be straightforward. A Greenway contractor came out and was prompt, arriving the next day.
Earlier, I had an issue with my dryer where the setting knob was not functioning correctly to set the timer. I submitted a claim, and Sears sent a contractor who also arrived promptly. The technician provided excellent service and explained the repair process. My dryer has been working perfectly since then.
I've been with American Home Shield since we got our home in 1998, with perhaps one break in service. Although not always satisfied with their responses in the past, I appreciate having the coverage for when things do go wrong. One thing I like about the service is that once you pay the service fee, it's reassuring that they aim to complete the job.
However, I have mixed feelings about recommending them because I've had negative experiences as well. There have been times when the service did not meet the contract's expectations, especially when it involved appliance replacements. But currently, I’m pleased because my recent dryer and refrigerator repairs were handled quickly.

I recently had an electrical issue and contacted American Home Shield for assistance. They connected me with Ideal Electric, a company I hadn't used before. The technician was thorough, educational, and very kind. Although American Home Shield couldn't fix one problem covered under our warranty, due to warranty terms, I opted to pay out of pocket for a reasonably priced fix. Overall, it was a good experience.
I started with American Home Shield in November, and if a friend asked, I'd say it's definitely a good idea to use their services. I would rate my experience with them at about 4 out of 5 stars. The customer service and quality of service were also good, earning them a rating of 4. Regarding their pricing, while I believe things could always be more affordable, it was acceptable.
I've used their online website and app for service requests. While it functions well for single units, it becomes cumbersome when you have multiple air conditioning or heating units. In such situations, it seems more efficient to call them as the website doesn't easily accommodate multiple units. I think there's room for improvement in this area to make the process smoother.

I had an experience with American Home Shield when I submitted a claim for my dishwasher, which wasn't working. The sprayer arm failed to operate, leading to dishes not being properly cleaned. I submitted the claim through their app, which was quite easy to use. However, I didn't receive any information about the contractors in advance; I was only informed that a service contractor had been assigned and they would call to set up an appointment.
Sears was assigned to handle the dishwasher repair and visited multiple times. Unfortunately, their service was unsatisfactory. They claimed the water pressure was low, although a plumber later confirmed that this wasn't the issue. Sears seemed unprofessional at times, with instances where the technician didn't show up, claiming a lack of parking, or closed the ticket without resolving the problem.
Despite these challenges, I would still give American Home Shield a rating of 3.5 to 4 stars based on my overall experience, mostly due to hassle-free handling of minor issues. Their services have typically been quick and problems are usually resolved promptly. I've been with them for about 10 years, since 2014, because having such a service seemed like a logical and convenient choice.
For those considering American Home Shield, I would still recommend them, acknowledging both the pros and cons of their service. Overall, I'd rate their customer service, pricing, and app interface at around 4 stars, and the coverage itself at 5 stars. While there have been some frustrations, especially with larger issues, the convenience they offer is significant.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding my thermostat that went out. While I attempted to fix it myself, I ended up shorting a fuse. I placed a call for service on a Friday, but the appointment was scheduled for Monday, meaning I had to go a few days without heat, which was quite inconvenient.
When the contractor arrived, he was punctual and professional. He addressed not just the fuse issue but also went above and beyond by pointing out and correcting some installation oversights from when my furnace was initially set up in my newly rehabbed house. He efficiently rectified the problems within 20 minutes, and since then, everything has been working perfectly.
Throughout this experience, I had a positive interaction with American Home Shield, and I would confidently rate their customer service and warranty coverage highly. Their online tools and app also performed well for me. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield to others based on the service I received.

I had a rather frustrating experience with American Home Shield. We had a plumbing issue with our rainwater heater, so we called them for assistance. When the technician arrived, he seemed confident he could fix it but then informed us we needed a part specifically for our rainwater heater. I was surprised because, in my 24 years with them, we’ve never had to order a part ourselves. This delay left us without hot water for a week, which was difficult for me due to health issues and a young grandchild at home.
The technician returned later and finally ordered the part, but this should have been done during the initial visit. The delay caused further inconvenience, and I ended up with an infection.
Additionally, I’ve had recent issues with my dryer. After the technician blamed the problem on the electrical connection and an electrician fixed it, the dryer still isn't heating properly. I called American Home Shield again, and I’m currently waiting for a response.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been disappointing lately, and I would rate their service quite low based on these recent interactions. While I’ve had better experiences in the past, this situation has been quite frustrating.

When the compressor went out on my mini split, I called in and reported it on the phone. It was very easy to get through to one the first time. But American Home Shield sent three people out that couldn't touch it. Then the last people that came out sent me a thing and said it was gonna cost $1,895 to replace the unit. But they installed the unit that failed the last time and then they want me to pay $1,895. So I went with the buyout option because American Home Shield couldn't get anybody to fix it. I had to settle with American Home Shield for 1,300 dollars, and I had a brand new unit put in for less than that.
Everybody I talked to, except for the very last person I talked to, lied to me. They gave me wrong information, told me they'd call me back or they'd have somebody else to call me back, and they would never call me back. I always had to call them back and get on the phone and wait. This was the worst experience I've ever had with anything in my life. That's the reason I cancelled the policy. I would not recommend American Home Shield to anyone. I'm very dissatisfied.

I initially had a satisfactory experience with American Home Shield, but over the past few years, I've been increasingly disappointed. The contractors they send often have to do rework, costing me more time and hassle. While some contractors provided decent service, others have been dismissive or unhelpful. For instance, one plumber gave poor advice and didn't resolve my issue, ultimately costing me out-of-pocket expenses.
Recently, my dryer stopped working, and despite multiple visits from contractors, it remains unfixed since November 25th. The company they assigned to my dryer repair had poor online reviews, and despite my concerns, American Home Shield insisted on using them, offering no alternatives.
The website for filing service requests is user-friendly, and while American Home Shield's customer service representatives answer questions, they follow rigid protocols without offering flexible solutions. I hesitate to rely on their warranty coverage, always uncertain if an issue will be covered. Their prices have been increasing yearly, contrasting with the declining service quality.
In summary, my confidence in American Home Shield has waned, and I am considering discontinuing their services for more reliable options.

I recently had to submit a claim with American Home Shield regarding my garbage disposal, which was not working properly. Initially, I called and spoke to an automated system. The first technician they sent was quite young but very polite and pleasant. However, a couple of weeks later, the issue persisted, so I reached out to the plumbing company directly, not American Home Shield, and they sent another technician who was equally as nice. The second technician was able to fully repair the disposal.
Overall, my experience with the technicians sent by American Home Shield has always been positive; I've never had a bad experience. Usually, the repairs are completed correctly the first time. I have had only bad experiences with American Home Shield. I'm very unhappy with their coverage and service. I'm not planning to renew next year. They try their very hardest to not cover the policyholder. There was a water line coming from the outside of the house that went under the garage, and it came to the crawling space. In the crawling space, there was a leak. The pipe leaked inside the crawling space. It was walls in. I did my service request and AHS sent a plumber.
Anytime Home Services' plumber came. He took a minute or two and said, "We have to replace the whole pipe that comes from the street." After a minute or two he was there, he left, and that was it. He said, "I'm gonna send this information to your insurance and see if they will cover it." Later that day, I got an email saying, "Good news, your claim is partially covered." I opened that link and it said nothing was covered. So, the email was misleading. It said that it was $0 that I would get covered and $4000 each I will have to pay to replace that.
I called and AHS said, "We cannot do anything 'cause the hose, it's coming from the outside. And we only cover walls in. So, you're denied. Good luck." I contacted a different plumber with Any Hour 24/7 Plumbing in Utah. They came and inspected the leak, and said, "We could fix it from the inside." They fixed it from the inside. They came two days after. They charged $800, but they were able to pull the hose a bit and fix the leak. So, I was angry because it wasn't walls in issue that the insurance incorrectly declined. I called AHS and said, "You guys didn't cover something that you should have covered. At the very least, just refund me my service I pay 'cause you guys sent a contractor plumber that was here two minutes and misdiagnosed the issue and left. I feel robbed because you guys charged me $125 for someone to come here two minutes and later find out that my claim was being denied." They declined the refund as well.
I purchased my home seven months ago, and in the inspection, they said that there were some gaps between some plumbing pipes and it was a risk for having mice come in. So, as a part of the inspection, they told me, "You have to have them either fix this or acknowledge this." The seller had someone that came and sprayed from those little gaps. At first, it looked like they sprayed a bit much in one of the pipes and they clogged the pipe in my furnace. SAummer came, I didn't have any issues with the AC. But when winter and the colder days came, I started using the furnace for air heating, it failed.
I did the service request and said, "My furnace is not working." AHS sent a who came and said, "Everything is fine with your furnace. The problem is the piping for the drainage is clogged. So, this is not an HVAC issue, this is a piping issue." I called AHS again and said, "Can we please switch my service from HVAC to pipe, to plumbing?" They said, "No, we cannot do that. You have to pay for another service." From my perspective, if the furnace is not working, the issue is HVAC-related. They didn't fix that. They wanted me to pay another $125, which I did not pay. I have another plumbing that I got and fixed it for 50 bucks.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield, and unfortunately, it's been quite frustrating. My dryer has been out of order for two and a half weeks because their vendor is unable to get the necessary parts. The repair process requires that parts be ordered through American Home Shield's system, which significantly delays the repair process. I've been a customer for a long time, so I understand their system. The issue is that you have to use their vendors.
After inspecting the appliance, the vendor sends a parts list to American Home Shield for authorization, and only after approval are the parts ordered, creating a long wait if your appliance breaks down. If I had hired an independent repair service, the repair process would likely have been completed within a couple of days. However, American Home Shield's vendors take longer since they are paid lower rates compared to regular customers. This means that such repairs are not prioritized. I had a similar situation with my washer recently, but having been with them for a while, I knew what to expect.
They’ve replaced significant items like my heating system, AC, washers, and dryers in the past, which was beneficial. But, if you don't have a claim for a couple of years like me, you might question the value since you're still paying the annual fee. Yet, when you do need something substantial replaced, like a heater, it can save you a lot. The service is beneficial for those who aren’t handy and it offers convenience since you don't have to source or install parts yourself. However, American Home Shield’s process can be time-consuming and they do not prioritize quick responses from their vendors. This convenience comes at the cost of patience and understanding their system.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding my refrigerator not cooling properly. Initially, the first set of technicians weren't helpful, repeatedly suggesting I unplug the refrigerator to fix the issue. This approach dragged on from October, leading me to file a complaint because no actual resolution was provided, nor any change recorded. Eventually, a secondary technician was sent out, and he was really professional. He resolved the issue, explaining that the previous technicians didn't leave any invoice, which was causing delays. I appreciate the secondary technician’s efficiency and documentation, which ensures smoother follow-up if needed. He even mentioned bringing parts if the problem recurs within 30 days, which shows proactive service.
While the technician was excellent, my experiences with American Home Shield as a company have been mixed. Previous claims also had hiccups, and on coverage, I feel let down as replacements or repairs have not been executed as expected, leading me to personally bear costs. Hence, I’d rate the overall company at a 4, but specifically rate their customer service highly at a 5, as I always received great support on calls. However, the coverage and pricing aspects warrant a lower rating, as the high monthly costs don’t match the service reliability. I suggest American Home Shield collaborate with better third-party companies for sending out technicians, which could definitely enhance their overall rating. Nonetheless, their website is user-friendly and satisfactory.

I recently dealt with American Home Shield and, unfortunately, my experience was frustrating. I had a claim involving my pool equipment where the connection from the control pedestal to the pool heater wasn't working correctly. It turned out they didn't cover the wire connecting the pool heater to the pedestal, considering it an accessory, even though the pool heater itself was fixed. However, the issue I faced was that the connection was perfectly fine before their technician came out. After their service, it stopped working, which was disappointing.
Additionally, I have an ongoing issue with my refrigerator. A contractor was sent to check it, and although it appeared to be resolved temporarily after unplugging it, the problem returned once plugged in. Despite reporting this, I haven't been contacted by them for a follow-up in months. This past month has been so busy that I haven't reached out again and got in contact with American Home Shield about it.
On the positive side, they resolved some other issues promptly, like a whole house fan and a shower pipe problem. Still, the refrigerator has consistently malfunctioned over the past year, and though they keep attempting to fix it, a replacement has never been offered.
In summary, my experience with American Home Shield has been mixed. While they've been prompt in addressing some issues, the continued problems with the pool equipment and refrigerator leave much to be desired. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 3 out of 5.

Initially, my appliance was malfunctioning—it just wouldn't work, requiring constant adjustments.
I filed the claim by speaking directly with a representative, which I found to be the best experience I've ever had with any service provider. The contractor who arrived was highly professional. I've been using American Home Shield for home appliance coverage since I moved to town, starting from the end of July, beginning of August. It's been very convenient because, being new to the area, I didn't have to go through the hassle of finding a reliable repair service.
We've had Sears come out three times: once for the ice maker in the refrigerator, another for the dishwasher, and today for the dryer. The service from Sears has been remarkable. Each technician sent out has been professional, personable, and efficient in solving the issues. I recently had a service experience with American Home Shield regarding an issue with our furnace. The furnace wasn’t producing any heat, so we reached out for help. The technician who came was knowledgeable and quickly diagnosed the problem as an issue with the ignition system. He promptly retrieved the necessary part from his car and replaced it, restoring the heat in our home efficiently.
Since the repair, the furnace has been functioning perfectly with no further issues. Although I would have preferred a quicker response time due to the circumstances, I understand the challenges during the holidays. I’ve had no issues with American Home Shield’s coverage or their representatives, and I would recommend their service to others based on this experience.

The rubber part that protects the washer door from leaking was damaged. I logged in and said I needed to put in a claim. It was easy. American Home Shield asked me what it was. They told me to put in a description and what was damaged. I had a picture of the piece that came off. I took a picture of that. They opened the claim. Ten minutes later, I got a call from Sears to set up an appointment and to get more details. They had me take a picture of the model number and some numbers off the actual machine so they could know exactly the machine it was. I took a picture as well as the part for them that was damaged so they could be ready to fix it as soon as they got here.
Within 20 minutes of them being here, they repaired it. My wife told me the tech was a very nice gentleman. The washer is perfect again. The deductible could be lowered a bit if the repair was not as serious because the repair did not cost $100. It might have just because of the techs coming out and I see the prices people have, but maybe they could make certain concessions when it's a minor piece. Other than that, I have no issue paying the $100.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding my air conditioner's fan motor. While working outside near the unit, I noticed it was making a steady humming noise despite not being on. On closer inspection, the top of the unit was hot, indicating something was wrong. The technician from Lane Services assessed the situation efficiently, ran a power test, and determined the fan motor was the issue. He left briefly to obtain the necessary replacement and returned to install it. The entire process was completed in less than two hours, which was exceptional. Overall, I've consistently had positive experiences with the technicians American Home Shield sends out—they've always been reliable. I've had American Home Shield for quite some time across different properties, and it's been a great experience. When filing claims, I prefer calling in, and I'm consistently met with great customer service.

Since the repair, the unit has been working perfectly, and I haven’t encountered any further problems. Overall, I am very satisfied with American Home Shield.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when our furnace wouldn't come on. The process was relatively smooth, although I wished it had been a bit quicker since the issue arose over a weekend, which delayed service until the following Monday or Tuesday. The contractor they sent was from quite a distance away but was efficient; it took him about 20 minutes to diagnose and fix the issue. Since then, our furnace has been performing well.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield was positive. I would rate my experience a 4 out of 5, including their customer service and warranty coverage.

My recent experience with American Home Shield was quite satisfactory when they handled a claim involving my refrigerator condenser. I requested service through their online portal, and then they were able to accommodate my schedule, which I appreciated.
The technician from GE Appliances was awesome. I've also worked with him before and he provides excellent customer support.
I tell people all the time that American Home Shield is good. However, I did encounter an issue with American Home Shield in the past. There are some things that they're not prepared to cover and one of those is a tankless water heater. They're extremely expensive. I went around and around with them for many months as my tankless water heater was dying. I eventually had to pay the $7,500 to get it replaced myself and they reimbursed me a fraction of that. Other than that experience, which was completely unsatisfactory, it's been great.

I have been using American Home Shield since I bought my condo, as it was included in the purchase by the seller. When the initial policy expired, I chose to renew it myself and they've been great. There has been several issues with my ac unit spanning over a while now. Initially, the AC unit stopped working and wasn't blowing cold air. Submitting a claim with American Home Shield over the phone was easy.
While my recent experience with Myers was satisfactory, my first experience over a year ago was frustrating as they repeatedly visited without resolving the issue. Plus, it was hard to get ahold of them. However, this time was much better.
I appreciate that American Home Shield is responsive and straightforward. Overall, I'm pleased with the service and would recommend them to others.

I recently interacted with American Home Shield and had a rather frustrating experience concerning their service response. When dealing with D&J Appliances, the scheduling took quite some time, then when they came out and assessed the issue, they said a part was needed. They ordered it and that took several weeks, which was not their fault. However, when they got the part, scheduling the installation dragged on longer than expected. After installation, the issue persisted. Despite being told before they left that it was fixed, it wasn't. I had to follow up, and it took another week for a technician to come out. Unfortunately, he was not much help. He didn't seem to assess the issue at all and claimed another part was needed. That was Tuesday and I've since received no updates, exacerbating the situation over a month and a half for what seems to be a simple repair. Their technicians do not seem fully equipped to address or expedite the issue.
When it comes to reaching out for service, I use both their phone and online options. Generally, the online submission is fairly straightforward. However, the overall customer service is pretty standard, not exceptional. Regarding the pricing for their service, I find it lacking in value considering the troubles I've encountered.
We apologize for the delay in service. If your concerns are unresolved, please contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com for assistance.

I recently had K&S Plumbing Services LLC come out through my American Home Shield warranty because my kitchen and bathroom faucets were leaking. The claim process was straightforward since I submitted it online. The website was user-friendly and easy to navigate.
Before the contractor arrived, I received a text and email detailing the company that would be coming and they would contact me. The service from K&S Plumbing was excellent. The plumber was cordial and efficient. He even needed to return to fix one of the issues. I would definitely recommend K&S Plumbing.
Currently, everything is working perfectly. I've been protected by American Home Shield for about five to six years, and I chose their service after looking up ratings online. I appreciate the immediate service and the quality of the companies they work with, and I can't think of anything that needs improvement.
I would recommend American Home Shield to family and friends, as I've been satisfied with the coverage. I also have another residence that I insure and I'm happy with that one too. Their customer service, coverage, and website are all excellent, each deserving a top rating. They have consistently protected and maintained my appliances, electricity, and plumbing, adhering to their contract terms thoroughly.

I recently had some disappointing experiences with American Home Shield. My most significant issue was with my water heater. I had to spend over $5000 to replace it because the company wouldn't cover the repair, which left me quite upset. In another instance, I submitted a repair request for a TV, but never received a response.
Additionally, the contractors assigned to my water heater job left me dissatisfied. I had paid a lot of money assuming I'd be getting a unit that kept water hot continuously. However, after installation, I discovered that wasn't the case. The contractor didn't offer any options, and after they left, the heater's performance wasn't as expected – we had to wait as long for hot water as before, despite adjusting the heat settings.
In conclusion, I probably wouldn't use American Home Shield again, and I'm sure I wouldn't use this contractor again. Overall, I would give my experience with them a 3 out of 5.

There was an issue with a toilet that kept running, and basically, I had to jiggle the handle often to stop it. To address this, I submitted a claim through the American Home Shield website on my phone. The process was pretty straightforward and easy.
After submitting the claim, I got an immediate text notification with the name of the contractor who would handle the issue, which in this case, was PHD Mechanical. My boyfriend was present when they arrived, and he found the contractor to be friendly and efficient. Although initially fixed, the problem reoccurred after a week, but scheduling a recall was hassle-free. There was a little piece that didn't quite get taken care of, and hopefully, it's resolved now.
I've been with American Home Shield for about 10 years. Overall, the regular service calls have been easy to manage, though larger projects, like taking care of an air conditioning unit or replacing a refrigerator, were a bit more challenging.
The customer service, coverage, and price are all quite satisfactory. The online tool for claim submission is quite user-friendly. For anyone considering coverage, especially if your home isn’t brand new, it’s a wise choice to avoid unexpected expenses.

I recently had a service experience with American Home Shield regarding a blocked toilet. Submitting a claim was quite simple; I just called the company and paid a service fee of $100. Before the contractor from A Water Solution arrived, I was provided with their phone number by the warranty company, allowing me to easily get in touch with them.
The service interaction was quick and straightforward. The technician used a plunger to unclog the toilet, explaining that due to the toilet's design, applying the correct pressure was key. It was a simple fix, and everything is functioning well now.
This was my first incident, and I found the level of professionalism satisfactory. I've been with American Home Shield since April of this year after moving to Columbus. Previously, I had a home warranty while living in Huntsville, Alabama.

American Home Shield has been a major disappointment. I submitted a service request for three appliances, including my refrigerator, which is a safety hazard as it leaks water and almost caused my elderly mother to fall. The technician they assigned was unhelpful, misdiagnosing the refrigerator and ordering unnecessary parts while ignoring the actual problem. He also claimed my dryer was fine but gave impractical advice, like cleaning the sensor before every use—something no one should have to do.
Despite my immediate concerns and repeated requests for a different technician, AHS insisted on sending the same person back, wasting nearly two weeks of my time. Their loyalty seems to be with their technicians, not their customers. To make matters worse, the company they assigned, Majestik Appliances, has numerous terrible reviews, which reflects poorly on AHS.
As of today, none of my appliances have been fixed, and it looks like I’ll end the year with these unresolved issues. After years as a loyal customer, I expected much better service. AHS needs to prioritize their customers and ensure competent technicians are assigned. I cannot recommend them based on this experience.

I recently got back with American Home Shield. I've been in my home for 16 years. I haven't had any major issues with AHS. However, I get upset when I pay for something and sometimes I would have to call back. When I call them, they would say they could help with something, and they would help me with it. But if it failed shortly after, did they really help? I called them about my microwave, they sent a contractor out and fixed it. It would not work. I called AHS again, they sent a contractor out. AHS said they would fix it. It failed again almost immediately. Right now, it's not working. That's why I got mad and canceled for a period of time.
The guy came out. He claimed that the garage door worked fine as far as letting it up and down with my remote in my car. But the one on the panel on the wall when walking in your house from the garage does not work. He tried to make me pay for it. I told him, "I'm not paying for it. This is why I pay American Home Shield." He changed it out. Two days later, it never worked and still hasn't. That pissed me off because I pay a lot. They could have done better. The only reason why I haven't called them in because I would have to pay $125 for them to come out and fix it.
My septic went out here and I had to pay out of pocket. I had to get it pumped out myself and pay. It wasn't a lot because it's just me and my daughter, but it's a five-bedroom home. They said that wasn't covered. They told me everything was covered. My payment went from 55 to all the way up to 70-something. They're about that money. A lot of people say that they don't wanna cover stuff. But they fixed my air conditioner several times and replaced it.
One of the plugs in my daughter's room was not working. The contractor switched that out. The light in my master bedroom flickered. I turn it on, it would go right back off. The contractor fixed everything. I asked for a cover for one of the outlets in the kitchen. He told me I could go to Home Depot to get a cover for it. He said he didn't have one on his truck but they fixed all the plugs.

I was very impressed with American Home Shield. They sent out a contractor, my dishwasher was covered. The contractor couldn't fix it but there was no bellyaching about it and AHS took responsibility. The dishwasher's soap tray didn't close. I had to just throw the thing in the silverware drawer. It wouldn't clean effectively anymore. AHS responded to me within 12 hours of making the claim. The guy called me to set the schedule. He came the next day. He looked at the dishwasher and made the decision, talked with AHS and decided to replace it.
AHS sent me several pages of options on dishwashers, or they would give me a Lowe's credit. I went over to Lowe's and they had a tremendous sale where everything was half price and the amount of money would have gone far, but they didn't include delivery and installation. Installation at Lowe's was $229, and I didn't know about delivery. I did a search on ConsumerAffairs to find the best brands, and the two best were Bosch and Miele. Neither of those were on the options of replacements. Next was LG, which wasn't there. Halfway down the path was Whirlpool. So, I only selected from Whirlpool. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles. I got a basic dishwasher.
AHS makes money. They don't pay out more than they take in. But I like the security of having it. One of the reasons I got it is that they cover my air conditioner and my furnace. Things don't last like they used to. I had my furnace and air conditioner replaced 12 years ago and that is all you can expect out of these things these days.

We are very disappointed with the warranty service for our $1,000 microwave. Before scheduling the repair, I specifically asked what would be covered, and the warranty company assured me that as long as the issue wasn’t caused by user damage, it would either be repaired or replaced. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but straightforward.
The first technician diagnosed a faulty heating element, which they said would be covered. Then, another technician came out and said additional parts were damaged, requiring further orders. The next technician installed all the parts, but when we turned the microwave on, it started making loud noises and smoking. He told us he would inform the company that it needed to be replaced.
A few days later, we received a call saying the microwave was unrepairable, and because it was a manufacturer defect, nothing could be done under the warranty. Now, our microwave is in even worse condition than it was before the repairs, and we are left with no choice but to purchase a new one—despite being told the issue would be covered. This whole experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Our experience with American Home Shield (AHS) has been nothing short of frustrating. When our washer drum broke, the first repair company they connected us to couldn't even come out for weeks. The second company sent a technician who arrived in an unmarked sedan, had no business identification, and only carried a small tool bag. Communication was difficult as the technician did not speak English, so we had to use Google Translate to discuss the issue. After a quick 5-minute inspection, they said parts needed to be ordered and they'd return in five days.
When they finally replaced the washer drum, we thought the issue was resolved, but after just one load of laundry, the washer stopped draining and spinning. They had to come back again to fix their previous work. Now, one month later, the washer drum is broken again, and it’s still not draining water. When we contacted AHS on a Saturday to report the problem, we requested a different company since the first one had already failed twice. However, AHS informed us that switching to a new company would require us to pay another deductible. We asked to speak with a supervisor and were told we’d get a call back on Sunday or Monday. It’s now late Monday night, and we’ve heard nothing.
To make matters worse, AHS hides negative comments on their Facebook posts, which feels incredibly dishonest for a company claiming to provide reliable service. Overall, this has been a nightmare—terrible customer service, poor communication, and untrustworthy practices. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.
