My air condition went out and I had a local company check it. They found that the evaporate coil was leaking. I told them I had American Home Shield, so I contacted them to see what they could do. They started the process and assigned Tried Air Conditioning & Heating to handle the repair.
The only problem I had was that they wouldn’t allow Tried to use their own coil. They had to ship them a coil. Because of that, it took about a month to get my air conditioner fixed.
It seemed like American Home Shield had trouble getting the coil shipped. The coil came in about three weeks, and it was damaged. So they had to send it back. Once they got the coil here, Tried did a tremendous job. They came out, installed it, and everything has been fine since. It was just a long process, and that was my only complaint.
I liked that they handled my claim right away and did what they said they would do. They did send me a notice saying I had to agree to pay $450 for the Freon recharge, but that was the only charge I had. If I'd had an outside company to fix it, it would probably cost me $4,000. So I saved tremendously. Because I’m afraid I wouldn’t have been able to go through with it if I had to pay $4,000 out of pocket.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We apologize for the delays experienced in shipping and communications regarding your AC repair. We understand how challenging the wait must have been, especially given your family's circumstances.
We're glad to hear that once the part arrived, the issue was addressed efficiently by Tris AC and Heating LLC. Our goal is to provide a cost-effective solution while maintaining high service quality. Your feedback is invaluable as it will help us to enhance our services. If there’s anything more we can do for you, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope your family stays comfortable and that you'd still consider American Home Shield for protecting your home.

My pool pump was shot. American Home Shield called a contractor and their tech came to my home. He looked at the pool pump and said he had to see the circuit breaker. I was wondering why but I let him go. I took him to the circuit box and he said I needed to upgrade that circuit breaker in the box. When I asked why I had to do that, he said, "Oh, the rules have changed. You have to have a better circuit in there."
The tech told me to call him once I got the breaker done and let him know. He would come back. I asked what I should do then. He told me to call American Home Shield and have an electrician come and replace that. I called them and I was told to find someone else because there was a problem with the electricians they used. I found somebody and the guy did the work. I still had the number of the contractor that was here to put in the pump. I texted him saying the breaker was done.
When four days passed and I didn’t hear anything, I sent the guy a text. When I called him, it went right into voicemail. The contractor never got back to me. I sent the tech a text and I even sent him a picture of the circuit box to let him know that it was done. I got a text message later in the day stating, "Hey, we had to put your pool pump on order. We will contact you when it arrives."
This was on a Friday and Monday was Memorial Day. On Tuesday, I called the tech and nothing. I called American Home Shield and explained to them. I said, "I want somebody else to come and do the work because this person is not communicating with me. I don't know what's going on. I feel as though I'm left in the dark.” The gentleman that I was talking to was helpful. He said, "Okay. We can do what we gotta do and send somebody else."
About three hours passed and all of a sudden, the initial tech popped up in my house and he had a pool pump. He put it in. He looked at the circuit breaker. He turned everything on and everything was working fine. I told the tech, "Listen, man, I called American Home Shield. I requested somebody else because you didn't communicate with me. I don't mean to be a pain in the behind. And I can understand in a roundabout way if you're overburdened with a lot of work. I can understand it. But my thing is, communicate with me. I've called you. I've sent you text messages. And I don't get nothing in return.” He said, "Oh, well, I can't do the work and answer the telephones at the same time."
In a roundabout way, that was his problem. If he couldn't handle it, he should have said so. The tech said what he had to say. I apologized to him if it brought any heartache to him. But as far as I was concerned as long as the pool pump was in and everything was working, it was all right. He did the work and we could get off my property. On the whole, American Home Shield was helpful but they should know the companies that they deal with. They were not totally at fault but I was not totally pleased either because they sent the contractor.
Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Your observations are important to us, and I'm glad to hear that the final installation of your spa was satisfactory.
If there's anything further we can do to assist or improve your experience, please let us know. We appreciate your feedback as it guides us at American Home Shield to provide better service continuously.

I put in a service order as my water heater was dripping a little bit. Somebody from Brick Street Plumbing came out and he told me that the knob was loose. He screwed it on and left. That was good and I was glad it wasn't a problem. But I noticed it was leaking more the next day. I called Brick Street Plumbing back and told them that my water heater was dripping even more than it was. The tech came out and he said, "This may need to be replaced." He went out to his van and put in a call to American Home Shield to see if they would replace it. He came back in and said they would replace it. He said he wasn't the guy who does replacements and that somebody will be calling me.
American Home Shield sent me an email saying that I would have to pay $768 because they didn't cover bringing things up to code. That was the cost to bring everything up to code. They only pay for the replacement, installation, and removal. That was fine. They told me I had to go online and they sent me something to accept that I will be paying the 768. I did.
Brick Street Plumbing called me and the lady asked if I was aware that I had to pay the 768. I told her yes. She told me I had to pay in cash and that made me a little leery. I asked why that was so and I said I was using a credit card. I added, "Could you send me an invoice, the breakdown of everything I'm paying?" She told me I would get that from American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield and they told me that I would get it from Brick Street Plumbing. It was so much back and forth. I called two plumbing companies to figure out how much it would cost to replace a 50-gallon water heater. One was 1900 and something while the other was 2000. It depended on whatever system I went with.
I was going back and forth. Brick Street Plumbing had scheduled me for Monday. But the lady texted me and said she didn't realize that was Memorial Day. She moved the schedule up to Tuesday. She said, "Don't forget we need cash. Make sure you give the person cash." I said, "Miss, you never sent me the breakdown of what I'm paying for. I'd like to know what I'm paying for." She insisted that I would get that from American Home Shield. I said, "But American Home Shield told me I would get that from you."
I called American Home Shield back and they claimed they were calling Brick Street Plumbing, and that they would be sending me the invoice. I felt something wasn't right. I told the lady I would like to have an invoice. She told me American Home Shield was paying $1700 and I had to pay the rest. I asked to have that sent to me in writing. They never did. When I told the lady from Brick Street Plumbing I wasn't paying in cash, she told me she was taking me off the schedule, and she did.
I called Constellation Energy because I needed water. I have my grandkids here. I paid $2000 for a nice water heater. That not only included bringing it up to code, but it also included having Baltimore County come out and do the permit. When I had asked Brick Street Plumbing about that, they said American Home Shield was gonna pay for that. It was just too much back and forth.
I told American Home Shield I didn't want to deal with Brick Street and that I wanted to deal with somebody else. They told me I had to deal with Brick Street. If they sent somebody out and it was the same issue, then I would have to go back to Brick Street. I said, "Y'all need to check these people out. There's something not right with Brick Street. They want me to pay in cash. That makes me feel like something is not right."
They told me I can ask for a cash-in-lieu. I told them to give me that. And then they told me that it would be $396.46. I told them you can't even purchase a water heater for that amount. I was initially told American Home Shield was going to pay $1700. At this point, I was so disgusted with American Home Shield. They charged me $119 a month for my plan with them. That's the part I'm really upset about.
I'm looking to get rid of American Home Shield because it was ridiculous. Somebody said they get kickbacks when they want you to use a certain company. The lady at Brick Street Plumbing was way out of line, telling me to pay cash. I've never had a company tell me that before. It wasn't that I couldn't have paid cash, but the fact that she tried to make it mandatory that I pay cash, and that made me feel uneasy. When I called American Home Shield to complain, it was like, "Either you use them or else." When I asked if they had read the reviews of Brick Street Plumbing, the American Home Shield rep said they didn’t read reviews.
Another thing was with customer service. When I have a claim, I just log on to the AmericanHomeShield.com website and log in to my account. But after I had this dilemma with Brick Street and tried to call, it was always foreigners on the line and I could barely understand what they were saying. They did the best that they could, but every time I called, I got a different person. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told somebody would have to call me back. Finally, somebody did call me back. But I was told that the 396 offer was staying. I either have to accept it or reject it. I told the lady I would reject it. I put in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I'm just waiting to hear back.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.
Warm regards,

My washer tub wouldn’t spin, so I called the warranty company. American Home Shield first assigned a contractor who took a long time to call me. When they finally did, they said they couldn’t come for five days.
I called the warranty company back and told them I didn’t want that contractor. I had looked them up, and their Google reviews were only 1 star. At that point, I was not happy because my washer had already been down for four days.
The representative assigned me to A Appliance, and they called within an hour. They came out, identified two issues, and returned the next day with one of the parts. They had to order the second part. But within a few days, the washing machine was fixed well before the time the original contractor would have even shown up.
American Home Shield can be deceptive in how they handle some claims. I filed a claim on my air conditioner last year, and the company they sent was horrible. I got nowhere with the warranty company. The technician even wrote a completely false report. In the end, I had to hire someone on my own to fix it. The warranty did reimburse me some teeny tiny piece of what it cost me.
I explained the false report to American Home Shield over and over. I went as high up the chain as they would let me. They didn’t care because they had something in writing from the contractor, who had terrible ratings everywhere, from Google to the Better Business Bureau, from people with the same complaint I had. They would come out, say something was wrong, and then inflate the cost of whatever needed to be done.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the troubling encounters you've faced, and we acknowledge the frustrations caused by the delays and communication issues throughout your service experience.
We deeply value your association with our service and genuinely hope to restore your confidence in American Home Shield.

My dryer started going out back in October. It wasn’t heating up, and it wasn’t turning off. The contractor came and got the heat to work, but I didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t turning off until I left and came back. I was gone for hours, and the dryer’s still running and it was hot, it melted clothes. My house could have caught on fire. I let AHS know that the contractor never fixed the timer, but I didn’t press the issue, so it worked just fine.
The heat started going out again in February. I called American Home Shield, and they had somebody come out. The contractor said they needed to order a part. So from February up until I called and canceled about three weeks ago, I'm still waiting on them to fix my dryer. I just went and bought myself another one.
I already gave AHS $200 in service fees, plus I have been giving $100 every single month towards this, and it aint fixed. I'm going to just save my money and buy myself a washer and dryer.
It was a horrible experience. Normally, I would recommend them because I’ve had them for years, but I’ve never really needed them either, which is probably why I don’t have problems. I'm not with American Home Shield anymore.
April, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience didn’t meet your expectations and resulted in you cancelling your home warranty. I have been with American Home Shield for 20 years, and I'm not really happy. My last bill I called on was 175 bucks and I wasn't thrilled with that because it's jacked way up over the last couple of years.
And then, I got this month's bill, it was 212 or 220. So, it went up again that much since last month. That's more than I pay for my house insurance. I called last month, but it went nowhere. It's hard to talk to those people because they're somewhere else, and don't cooperate real well.
The price is the same 200-something bucks this month. And I got a feeling it jumped because I used it once. If somebody's gonna be that loyal and stay for all these years, you gotta get some kind of a break.
Well, Prodigy Appliances came out for the dryer and the dishwasher. He's really good and fast. That's why I like to request him. He fixed the dryer, but the dishwasher, he looked at it and he's the one that installed that.
He said the dryer is still under factor warranty, and that he'd have to get ahold of somebody. But I've not heard anything back from anybody since last week.
He took the dryer apart and cleaned everything out of it. It was a disaster. I thought it was shot. But the link goes inside of it and down underneath and gets down in the heating element, then it starts smoking like it was on fire and I shut it all down. It works great now.
What I liked with American Home Shield is that I can call and get it fixed, and then they get somebody out here real quick. The one thing I don’t like is they ought to change it. Because when you call anything, they automatically assign it to whoever.
I always have Prodigy come out because this guy knows his stuff. He's worked in my refrigerator six times. And it's fixed in no time. But they always send me some other little guy that I don't know. I always go back to the same guys I've worked with.
When you call in, you don't get that option. And then, they have to go back and rework it to get the other guy out and cancel somebody. So, I wish they'd fix that so you could just put it in there who you want if that's an option if you know somebody.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've been experiencing. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Despite any shortcomings, we are grateful that you took the time to leave a review. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.
Thank you for your continued support and for seeing past the challenges to share your experience. If you have any further concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to assist you and ensure your satisfaction.

I'm not happy and satisfied with the performance I got from American Home Shield, terribly. The other most frustrating part was when I made the initial call. I was profusely thanked by American Home Shield for being a valued customer of 12 years.
And when I tried to escalate the concerns about not following what they advertise as far as the call back and what they advertise as far as the repairs being made, the customer service and the next level was unwilling to deviate from a script.
So, Flowertown Heating & Air came out because the AC was working, but it was not blowing cold enough air. The unit had frozen up, essentially. And it has finally been repaired. But it took a call back for it to be repaired.
And once they called me back to schedule the appointment, they made the appointment five days later. My concerns with the vendor that they provided was that they did not follow the guidelines that were spelled out to me as far as responding and scheduling the appointment.
I guess I need to specify that when it comes to the air conditioner type repairs, it seems that American Home Shield uses their cheapest type of contract that they could find.
Plumbing repairs, no problem at all. I've had plumbing repairs done with them that were timely, efficiently and done right away. But AC repairs from day one have never been acceptable.
Thomas, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience didn’t meet your expectations. Although we’re disheartened by your experience, we’re grateful for your feedback so we can work to potentially prevent any delays from happening again. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing AHS!

My friends and family have American Home Shield. It's the dependability within my immediate family and friends circle. We haven't had any problems, and they worked things out for us. But they left me with no fan and turned the heat off as well.
The contractor said that he didn't find a leak, and he thought that it needed some more Freon. He took a picture and sent it to his boss, who was supposed to tell him what they were going to do. And he said he was gonna come back.
That was a week ago, and I have no fan. If I had a fan, at least it's going to be 90 degrees on Thursday, then I can get something circulating until we resolve what the problem is with the air conditioning. But I don't have anything.
I'm 76 years old, and my son-in-law was out of town. He needs to be present if we have to get a unit to see what the contractor is talking about. But he left handicapped. Then somebody from United Temp called me, and I didn't call them back because he said he was going to come back.
I would have told them that they're a good company. But at this particular time, I don't know what to say. I'm in limbo from lack of communication. Because he said he was turning the paperwork into American Home Shield and he has completed it, and he hasn't completed it.
They have to improve on communication, and let the person know what is going on.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for a ceiling fan. I went on their online app and stated that the ceiling fan didn’t work. And within a few minutes, they assigned ARGO. So, it was a simple process, and their website was easy to use.
So, when you go on their app, and they assign a contractor to do repairs, it tells you that the contractor will notify you within 24 hours to set up an appointment, excluding weekends and holidays. Of course, when I did it, it was sometime on a Saturday. So, it excludes Saturday and Sunday. And on Monday, you give them the 24 hours. So, in my mind, sometime Tuesday I should get a telephone call from them.
Well, they didn’t call me. So, I called ARGO, and all I got was an answering machine. Nobody called me back. And then I called on Wednesday, a gal answered the phone, and said she was on her way to work. She said that when she gets into the office, she will look up and call me back and make an appointment. But she never called me back.
And then I got a call on a Wednesday. And Jason, the repair technician, wanna know if he could come out. And I told him that I’m boating. I’m out on the water in the river. And I told him that on Tuesday, I have to take my son to the airport in Las Vegas, which is an hour and a half away. And on Friday, I have a doctor’s appointment. And so, he asked if Monday was fine, and I agreed.
Well, Monday was a holiday. So, I called him back on Friday and told him that Monday is a holiday. And he just said he’s sorry and asked if he could come on Tuesday. And he said that he’s gonna check with his boss, and he will get back to me.
So, Tuesday morning came. I got no callback. So, I went out for a few hours, and then my wife called me and said that the repairman was there. He just showed up without verifying the appointment. So, I talked to the guy on the phone. I told him what happened with the fan. He said he’ll take pictures of it and that they’ll find something comparable. And that he’ll submit it to the AHS.
I have a big dining room table that’s underneath the fan. And I got an aortic aneurysm, so I’m not supposed to lift anything over 20 pounds. So, the tech told my wife that the table should be moved because they gotta get a ladder under the fan to replace it. My wife told him that I can’t lift it. And he said that he’ll just bring a co-worker to move the table. And my wife said there was another person in his car out in the street. So, I figured it’s not a big deal.
And then the next day, I looked on the AHS website, and it says, “Estimate received, under review.” So, I thought that the process was moving. I looked at it the next day. It says, “Estimate received.” Same thing on the review. And I looked at it the next day. It says, “Closed,” like the work was done. But nobody’s done anything. I made numerous phone calls back to the contractor. They never answered the phone. It was just an answering service.
I called AHS, and they said that there was a problem. The contract states that the area has to be accessible. And I told AHS that the tech told me that it’s not a problem because he’ll bring another person to move the table. And so, they put me on hold, they called the contractor, left a message, and they got back on the line and told me that they left a message to call me and them. They didn’t call me. I don’t know if they called them or not. I called AHS back a couple of days later, and it’s the same thing. They called the vendor to find out what’s going on, and there was no answer.
I started this claim on May 10th. And so, a couple of weeks have gone by. And then I called AHS, and they transferred me to their escalation team, but basically, that was a dead end. Because these people that you communicate with are just very poor English speakers, and it’s difficult for me to understand them. They talk so fast that you lose half of the conversation. And the bottom line was that they said that they’ll see if they can find somebody else. But they didn’t.
They called me back and said that they couldn’t find anybody else. And I assume they have set pricing that they give to the contractors. And what my personal belief is, when they say they can't find anybody else, it means that they can't find anybody who will work for their wages. And then they said that I should still be expecting a callback from this vendor, so we can actually find out what's going on, but it never happened.
So, I called back again. This was last week sometime. And what happened was I had to pay the $125 deductible upfront. And that pays for the contractor to come out and inspect the problem. And they said that they'll waive that deductible for the next vendor.
So, then Thursday last week, I got an email from AHS. It says, “Contractor assigned.” But I was out. So, I was assuming they reassigned the same contractor. But when I stopped someplace, I got a phone call from Select Electrical, which is in another city. And this guy was just really nice. He said that they've been assigned to come out and look at it. He said, “How about Wednesday between 11:00 and 2:00?” Which is tomorrow. I said, “Okay. Fine.” So, that’s worked out now. The guy's gotta come.
And I told him about the issue with the other company, and that my contract doesn't pay for moving the table out of the way for access. And they didn't wanna deal with it. And he told me that it's not a problem because they work in teams of two.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve had four different home warranty companies. And American Home Shield has been the best, except that they get you in with a low price for the first year, then for the next year, the monthly fee doubles. And then the following year, it goes up any more. It’s sort of like you couldn't afford to stay with them forever.
And it happened that I had a bad month where the microwave quit working, and the dryer had an issue. So, I don't know if you filed two claims, if that makes a difference or not.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience. We are glad to provide you with prompt and professional service!

We hate American Home Shield. It’s a total waste of money, and it’s a scam. When Axis Appliance came out, they had no tools. They asked us to clean out stuff that they were responsible for. I had to call twice to get them to come out because the first vendor that American Home Shield wanted us to use didn’t have availability for a week. But as we told them, when we asked for service, we had water leaking on our wood floor, so waiting a week isn’t an option. And so, I had to go through waiting and repeating the story multiple times to multiple AHS people to get them to get someone to get out to us right away.
The representative wouldn’t believe me that the vendor wouldn’t come out. She said she had to call them and ask them to expedite it. And I said I already did. She insisted on doing it again. So, I had to wait 24 hours for her to figure that out. Of course, they didn’t respond to her. And then she had to talk to a supervisor to get them to approve having another vendor reach out to me, and that took more time. So, I don’t think we saw anybody for 72 hours.
The whole reason we use AHS is they’re supposed to have a staple of people that are able to come out to us immediately. But they never do. It's always a week-long. And the quality of the people they use every time is at the bottom of the barrel.
And we had to use AHS the week before because there was a leak in our water meter box. And they sent out a plumber who literally did nothing. He didn’t even attempt to drain the leak or to clear it so that they could see the pipe. He looked at it and said that it’s the roots. Well, after a plumber, a leak specialist, a contractor, and then the city coming out, there was a break in the line. And we were lucky that we got the city to pay for it.
And all that we got when we called AHS to tell them that this is what happened was that we got letters denying our claim. We have proof after the fact that their plumber should have found it, and it could have absolutely been our responsibility if we hadn't had the city involved. And that was because they hired somebody who didn't even bother. And then they just believed that person. The person was completely 100% incorrect. It had nothing to do with roots. And AHS would not even engage with us in that conversation.
Sharon, we’re very sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. Thank you for your feedback—it helps us improve. We show that your appliance request has been completed and apologize for any inconveniences the delay may have caused. Our records also show that a second opinion was requested for the plumbing request, but was later cancelled; since the second opinion was cancelled, AHS will stand on the coverage decision as we do not accept outside diagnoses, my apologies. We appreciate your feedback and hope you’ll give us another chance in the future to provide you with a more positive experience.

City First Electric worked on my ceiling fan. I filed the claim through the website and it was easy. It gave me the name and phone number of the contractor through email and text, after.
The guy tried to talk me into getting a new ceiling fan. He wasn't sure if it was gonna be covered. And he kept telling me that my ceiling fan was old and that I needed to get a new one, which it's not old and I love that ceiling fan. It was an expensive ceiling fan. Then he said the receiver needed to be replaced.
He submitted a report to American Home Shield, and then they denied it at first. Apparently, in his paperwork, he said that the remote control was not an original remote control, which was wrong. And then, I had to go back to my paperwork and look and I showed the picture of my remote control and my picture of what's in the manual and I emailed it over to them.
City First resubmitted the report, and then American Home Shield covered it. They came back out and they replaced the receiver and the remote control, even if there was nothing wrong with the remote control. The aftermarket remote control and receiver worked. They didn’t give any paperwork for documentation. So all I have is his word against mine and American Home Shield against mine.
I've had AHS for probably 20 years. I was a single parent at the time when I bought the house and I don't know how to fix anything. I couldn't afford to pay an electrician or a plumber. So having AHS was the best way for me to be able to get things repaired if something went wrong.
I've had quite a few issues with them over the years. The heater people that they sent out mickey-moused the wiring in my heater/air conditioning unit. And so, it worked in the wintertime. But when it came time for air conditioning, it didn't work. And then, American Home Shield tried to say that somebody mickey-moused the wiring in it and I told them the only people that came out were their contractors.
They also denied a roof claim when I first got my house and they said that my roof was improperly installed. They didn't cover it. So I just went through my insurance company and had them fix it. That was a major turn-off. In fact, at the end of the first year, I switched companies. And then, I ended up going back to American Home Shield and I don't remember why.
Their price is fine but I'm not impressed with them, truthfully. It takes a lot of back and forth to get things covered. But eventually, if you're persistent, they will cover it. They try to get out of it as much as they can and they send out cheesy contractors.
I always tell people to get a home warranty because it does help with unexpected expenses. I do share some of my experiences with AHS so that they can make an educated decision. The contractors that they send out are not very good.
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the customer service to ease your home repairs.

I called American Home Shield when my garbage disposal stopped working. It was easy to call and most of the time it’s automated. I prefer to speak to a person so when you’re vague with the automated, they would connect you to a person.
When I called American Home Shield initially, they named someone else who they were going to send out. And I had an issue with that company because they subcontracted to another company. And the other company wouldn't come because they never got paid. I requested for Lambasio instead, and they sent them.
The Lambasio technicians were wonderful. They've been to my house multiple times for various things through the years. And they're always prompt, polite and they get it done quickly. I've always been very happy with them.
AHS has always been very good about getting someone as fast as they could. The only issue I had was when they sent a different company. My payment was taken twice. I had a hard time making them understand that they owed me a refund for one of them. It took a few days to do that. I was on the phone more than once trying to get them to understand. They're not Americans, so they have a heavy accent. But once they understood what was going on, I got my refund. And everything's been fine.
When someone tells me something broke in their house, I tell them to buy a home warranty. I tell them I got mine when I bought my house more than 20 years ago, and I’ve never been sorry. Their price may have gone up over the years, but so is everything else.
People at AHS are always polite. They always get someone right on it. I don't have to wait for them to get ahold of the company and have them sent out. Then I get an email right away from the company that they are going to send. So, it's all very quick.
Thank you for sharing your most recent AHS experience. We hope you continue to enjoy the customer service to ease your home repairs.

When I bought my house in 2013, I knew it had been built around 1989 or 1990 and still had many of the original systems. For peace of mind, I decided to get coverage with American Home Shield. Recently, I filed a claim for an electrical issue. When I ran the microwave, the lights flickered, and the breaker box caught on fire. An electrician sent by AHS determined the microwave should have been on a dedicated breaker and that it had been improperly installed years ago. However, the claim was denied because there was no mechanical failure. I tried to explain that mechanical failure is fire, but I was told nothing could be done unless something actually failed.
I have also had issues with contractors who either can't or won't do the work. In one case involving a refrigerator and washer, a contractor was scheduled to come on a Saturday between 9:00 and 11:00. He arrived late, and I said, "Oh, you must have a really busy day today." And he said I was his only call, then stated he needed to consult a colleague, but he never followed up. The claim was later reassigned to another contractor, requiring another visit to diagnose and then another to fix. The process was frustrating.
The customer service representatives seem to be doing their best, but it becomes difficult when they repeat scripted responses, and I need to speak with someone who is a decision-maker. Escalating a concern requires a ridiculous amount of conversation. At times, I have simply given up out of exhaustion. It is a ridiculous amount of conversation that has to happen to accelerate my concern, and at times, I have given up out of exhaustion.
The cost has also gone up too much, too fast, and continues to go up. My monthly price has nearly doubled, and the trip charge has gone from $50 to $75 to $100 or $125. However, I did not see an increase in service quality or coverage to match the higher costs.
Thank you for sharing your experience with American Home Shield! We hate to hear about the issues that were experienced to have the issue repaired and would be glad to speak with you.

All City Appliance repaired my washing machine. It wouldn’t rotate so he replaced the little part in the door so it would close, and it would rotate and it worked. The problem is the oven. Sears came out, and he said it needed a part. I have contacted Sears and they said they’re still waiting on the part. They were supposed to come out again on the 18th, and it's been a whole month. American Home Shield needs to check with Sears to see what's going on.

I've been with American Home Shield for a long time, and it's hit or miss with them. Sometimes they cover, sometimes they don't. The guy came here to fix something in the bathroom. He checked it first and needed a part, so he had to come back out. And then I needed an electrician to come out and since the guy was already here to install the part, American Home Shield used the same guy and charged me twice. He took a look at the jacuzzi and said I needed an electrician, so they shouldn't have charged me that extra $75 plus tax for nothing. I had to get my own electrician and pay him to do the job.

We had American Home Shield in Antioch too, for about 15 or 20 years. It wasn't exactly great in the past. It was difficult to get answers, because I guess something was difficult to work with. But this was going back five years ago.
I don't use it unless something is really broken. Recently, I submitted a claim online for my leaking freezer. Their website was fine, and I had a pretty easy time with it. The contractor, Treasure Valley Appliance Repair LLC was pretty responsive, and fit me in right away.
They called when they needed to change the time a little bit. So, it was good. The technician said he's gotta take the back out of the freezer. And he found that one of the tubes was plugged, and so we unplugged it, and it hasn't leaked since. I'm pretty satisfied with how it gets resolved.

I have been with American Home Shield for quite some time, since 2016. And then the contractor, Gateway Plumbing unclogged a shower drain that was past the p-trap. The technicians they sent were great. They were professional, polite, quick, and pleasant.
I attempted to unclog it myself using just the standard Walmart air unclogger. But it couldn't reach it. I tried pretty much everything I could. Once we realized it was gonna take a little more manpower, I filed a claim and got a plumber over here.
They came in, and tried their very basic stuff. And eventually, they had to go down into the basement and take the pipe apart to get to the clog. It was way beyond there. And then, they reinstalled it.
But they put a little doohickey on its end, which you can take off just to access that portion of the pipe a little more easily. That's nice, and it's working stellar now. And if it's a problem again, I can just pop that little cap off and just do it myself without going through the hassle.
We usually don't file a claim unless things really explode. So it's just a really good backup to have. I was very happy, and we've been very satisfied with their program. It's good to have.

We never had an issue with American Home Shield in all the years that we’ve had the service. We had a claim with our pool where the sand filter tore up, and The Pool Man of Palm Beach came out. They deemed it irreparable, so they replaced it.
The issue we had was there were three visits that they didn’t show up for. They’re about two hours from us, so they’re quite a distance. And the guy called and said that they were on their way. And their vehicle broke down multiple times. But it wasn’t an emergency like my water heater. But once he got here and he did the work, he wasn’t here but a few hours, and it was done.
Our son signed up with them a few months ago, because we’ve had good results. And we actually signed up because their daughter had good results with them, also.

The ceiling fan in my kitchen area stopped working. Someone came out, looked at it, tested it out, and said it needed to be replaced. He called in and got a $500 approval for alike or similar fans. He was very knowledgeable about how to repair the fan and the process needed to move my claim forward with American Home Shield. A replacement fan did get installed, but one with a lot lesser value and without a remote control, which my previous fan had, so I didn’t have the same functionality I previously had. There was one call before the installation of the new fan, where I was told that Home Shield went back and changed the authorization amount from the $500 to $200, and I thought that was crazy. But having American Home Shield, especially for me, I'm single and it’s my first home, it's helpful to have someone to reach out to when things go wrong in the house. And it's easy to get in contact with the representative. I might have to be on hold for a little while, but they pick up and they try their best to help me out.
The real issue comes with larger items. I was having problems with my AC last year, and I didn’t have air conditioning for two weeks in the middle of summer because I was going back and forth with American Home Shield. They weren't expediting, and things of that nature. So, when you really, really need them, you might wanna make sure you have $10,000 on hand, to handle it yourself because they're not trying to spend money. It's like any typical insurance company.

I submitted the claim over the phone to American Home Shield, and the experience was not good. I had almost a six-week turnaround time on my air conditioner getting fixed, and it was because of the company Pleasant Valley that they sent out. When I did call AHS, they had them come back out every time. I don’t think what they did was proper.
Then, the guy from Fixit came out next, and he did an outstanding job. He was the sixth service call I had out here, and he straightened out everything that was wrong. When he left, everything was working properly, and I have not had any problems since then. Six visits are a lot to fix one problem.
I’ve had American Home Shield for over 20 years, and it is difficult, sometimes, when you go through them. What I like to be able to do through them is be able to call the certified and reputable people of my choice. But they have a list of representatives that work for them. And they have to go through their list and send somebody here first.

The starter capacitor on my AC’s outside unit cooked, and Service One Air was able to get that fixed. I set the request online with American Home Shield, and it was easy. I, however, had to use a portable AC unit for five days before they were able to get out. It failed on a Friday night and AHS does not dispatch anyone on weekends or holidays, so I was not contacted again until Monday morning to verify that I had an appointment and when that appointment was. But once the contractor got here, he was done in short order. AHS’ price is not special, but it is also not exorbitant. I am satisfied with the price.

I had a leaky AC where the drip pan would have had water in it. I called in the claim with American Home Shield, and the rep I talked to was a little hard to understand but she was okay. The first technician who came out did not have any customer service skills and I told AHS about that. They had to come out on three different occasions. The second contractor who came out fixed the problem, and he also found another problem that the first guy missed. So, then he had to put in another ticket. They scheduled for another crew to come out. The last guy leveled the drain pan, and so far so good.
While customer service has been okay, American Home Shield needs to follow up with their actual workers. Sometimes, it takes too long. Some contractors say they were going to call you but they never do. One day, I just happen to have come home early and the guy was already there sitting in front of my house.

My refrigerator was not cooling, and the freezer was over freezing. The first two times the American Home Shield technicians came out was every two weeks, and then it became a three-week waiting period. The first time that they came out, they just opened the fridge and they told me that my freezer is over freezing that's why my refrigerator is not cooling. They told me that they were gonna submit a request for the parts and that they would call me back. I waited for their call for more than a week and they never called me back.
Then they came back again and took pictures. They told me that they were gonna submit a request for the parts and waited for that as well. But it turned out that they never ordered the parts. They had to come out a third time with a different technician. That technician told me that he knew what my problem was, and that he had to submit a request for the parts. Every single time they come out, they tell me that they're ordering the parts. And I receive a text that the parts have been ordered. But then when a technician comes out, he would say that there are no parts.
Finally, on the fourth visit, a technician came out with the parts and fixed the refrigerator. I like having American Home Shield because it provides coverage for major appliances like my refrigerator, washer, and AC. However, I felt like they were giving me the runaround as I had to back and forth before the issue was solved.
We're truly sorry to hear about the difficulties and extended process you experienced with the repair of your refrigerator. Customer service has always been decent. American Home Shield has gotten not as great over the years, but it is still okay. Several times, they had to do something and then the assigned contractor never contact me. Then I have to contact AHS and then they send it to another one, and then eventually tell me that I could just find my own contractor.
Recently, I had an electrical claim. There was something going on with my smoke detector system and a light switch where the light was not coming on and off. And so, they assigned me to an electrical contractor. He did not contact me till almost a week later. And then, once he did contact me and come and do the work, he did a great job and everything was fine.
Then, whenever they send somebody out to fix the same item multiple times, I wish they had a better process in place for replacement when they try to do something multiple times. For instance, my air conditioning, I have had trouble with it for three or four times. I have been without air for a week at a time or more. All they have been doing was band-aiding the problem. It would be better to have more reliable people to do the work.

That was a new thing to me because usually I'm talking to somebody and then they'll put me in for services. But they had the automated service where I go in there and pick. And I just tell them what it's for.

We've lived in our house for five years, and American Home Shield has been out here nine times. We've had so many issues where we've had to call them back out on the same issues.
We don't always get the truth about things. They told me they couldn't get the handle for my freezer, but one guy they sent out the second or third time for it said you just have to order it.
I still have a problem with the upstairs shower. A couple of years ago, it leaked into my kitchen and now the drywall is coming down. They fixed supposedly what it was, but then it started leaking again. I have not called them back out. They said there's no need because they're not going to fix it anyway. There's no way that they could have fixed it properly, because we looked at the area that they were supposed to fix and found a towel wrapped around it.
We had them out four times for a detached garage because the doors wouldn't open. We even bought new remotes that they supposedly programmed right. We would literally have to go out, go inside the garage, and push a button or pull down a string to open it manually. They finally fixed it the last time.
Sometimes we get good people to come out, sometimes we don't. It really depends on what service it is.
On the last service, this guy from BDM Appliance Repair was very informative and excellent. He fixed everything the way he's supposed to. The contractor who came before him had put Whirlpool wheels on my Samsung dryer to make the drum turn, but two of them broke completely off the system.
This gentleman from BDM explained that the wheels broke off because the Whirlpool wheels are real skinny, and the Samsung has wider wheels. You cannot hear that dryer now. Before, it made so much noise you could hear it in the other rooms. He even cleaned out the vent for me, so he was good.
Whoever comes out, whether they're more knowledgeable than the person who came out before, makes a difference. One time, I asked for the same person to come out who had helped me before, but they said they don't do that. I even asked if I could get my own contractor to come out and they would just reimburse me. They said no because they want to have local people.
They do come out and fix it, even though the fix doesn't always work very long, but then I have to pay again for them to come back out. This is the third or fourth time on the dryer. How many times does the thing have to break before they replace it? I pay $100 deductible every time.
Thank you for your detailed review. We're pleased to hear about the exceptional service provided for your dryer repair and are glad it’s now running smoothly. However, it's disappointing that other aspects of your AHS experiences, including the handling of the shower leak, and garage door issues, left you unsatisfied. We appreciate your loyalty and patience as a long-standing member.
It’s vital for us to offer a reliable and consistent service experience. Please be assured that we take your comments seriously to identify improvements for our field repair and contractor processes. We regret any inconvenience caused and understand your frustration with the inconsistency.

I recently put an air conditioner in my house that cost about $7,000, and American Home Shield only paid me around $140 towards it. I have been paying $153 a month for over 10 years, and I'm not satisfied with their compensation based on how many years I've paid them.
Their customer service has pros and cons. Most of the time, it takes too long to get service once a claim is started, although the technician who inspected the air conditioner was professional. My concern is that when you read the contract to them, it’s plain as day, but when they read it, it somehow becomes muddy. I recently purchased a policy with American Home Shield for a property I rent out, and this was my first claim under the new policy. The oven was not heating, although the burners still worked. The technician came out, inspected the unit, and said a part would need to be replaced. He told me he would submit his findings to AHS.
After contacting AHS following their email, I was told that the pictures sent by the technicians showed the problem was caused by a cockroach infestation, which isn’t considered normal wear and tear and isn’t covered by the policy. I didn’t know about the infestation, which was essentially due to the tenant’s neglect. As a courtesy, AHS said they would refund me the service fee.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We apologize for any inconvenience you've encountered during your claim process. I have had American Home Shield for about 15 years now. Their service is adequate, and I don't have a problem with it, but the cost goes up every year, which is the problem. I had looked at switching to cheaper insurance, but it really isn't it.
About a week and a half ago, I submitted a claim for my refrigerator because the ice maker wasn’t working. Some of the service technicians they send here have a very thick accent, so it's hard to communicate with them due to a language barrier. I explained that the problem had happened before and that the previous fixes I did did not last. It would revert to the same problem with the ice maker leaking. He said it was fixed, but did not exactly say what he did. But from what I saw, he did exactly what I have done to fix it before. The problem typically returns after a couple of weeks, and I wanted it fixed permanently, but he just kept saying, "I fixed it."
We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience over the years with us, including both the positives and areas needing improvement. We understand that increasing costs can be a consideration when you're evaluating future steps, as well as the recent issues with your refrigerator. Communication is key to smooth service, and please know we are aware of challenges that may arise during service requests.
If there could be anything else we might assist you with in addressing your concerns, feel free to reach out. Thank you again for being a long-time member and sharing your insights with us. We value the chance to better serve you, now and in the future.

I have been with American Home Shield since the 1990s, first with my old house and now with my condo since 2016. The premium price is fine, and their customer service has been good. Last month, I submitted a claim for my garbage disposal. The technician came out, asked some questions, and completed the repair. The only problem was it took them quite a while to do it. They said they needed to get parts, and it took about two hours, which was a bit too long for me. Although their main office is too far away from where I am, they still get the job done by contracting local technicians to come out and do the work.
It's good to hear that you had a great experience with us! Thank you so much for your wonderful review. If you have any further needs or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I'm still monitoring it because it has a 30-day warranty on it if I need to call them back.

The problem that I've had with American Home Shield is them upholding their end of the contract when it comes to repairs and replacement of appliances. The plumbing pieces of it haven't been bad because they always send A1 and I've never had a problem with them. But when it came down to appliances, I haven't had the best experience with them.
Last year my refrigerator wasn’t getting cold, so I put in a claim and every time a repair person came out, the problem got worse. It went from the refrigerator not getting cold to the freezer not getting cold. I waited for over a month, and the refrigerator was never repaired. They didn't offer a replacement, nor did they offer to even subsidize my getting a new refrigerator or even to replace all the food that I had to throw into the garbage. All they gave me back was the amount that I paid for the service call, which was $125. I had to buy a new refrigerator on my own.
I was gonna cancel them this year, but my dryer blew out on me, so I contacted them about three weeks ago. The service person came out, needed a part, and I’m still waiting. I've had two parts shipped to my home so far. Every week I check my email and they keep rescheduling my service date to come back out to repair the dryer. They keep pushing it out for a week or two. I called American Home Shield and requested to have the appointment rescheduled back to June 5th, the original date and I got an email stating that they rescheduled me for June the 12th, which is in a couple of days. When I checked my messages this morning, I got another message saying that they're rescheduling the appointment for June 18th. So, it’s been a really bad experience.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

People said American Home Shield was a good home warranty to have, and my mom and dad had used them years ago too, so I got it when we bought the house. But American Home Shield doesn’t follow through on their own vendors. I went online, submitted a claim, and was told I would hear from Ultimate Appliance Repair within 24 hours. I waited and waited, and I even called Ultimate Appliance Repair. It had already been a week that I hadn’t heard anything either from American Home Shield or Ultimate Appliance, so I called customer no service. The rep told me to call after 24 hours, and I did, and the next rep I spoke to assigned a different company. They called me back the next morning, scheduled an appointment, he came out, had the part with him and got my dryer fixed, no thanks to American Home Shield. He was nice, very professional, even cleaned out my dryer because it was an old dryer, and did a great job. If I had a choice, I would much rather have him come again, than Ultimate Appliance Repair.

I have two policies with American Home Shield, for a rental property and for my home. In my home, my garbage disposal wasn’t working. American Home Shield sent out a repairman who did a great job. I’ve had a few problems with them over the years, which were eventually ironed out. Their customer service, for the most part, has been very good. They have improved, and I can understand them better.
Now I have a problem with them in my rental. I have a very old refrigerator that leaks. Because it is a rental, I get a call from my renters that I have to call American Home Shield. They come out and defrost it, and it’s okay for a while. It happens again and again, and each time I have to call American Home Shield. All they do is come and defrost it. It’s $100 every time they come out. I asked them if I could get a new refrigerator, and the company said that they can’t do that unless the repairman says that I need a new refrigerator. I’m a little bit upset about that.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We’re pleased to hear of your satisfaction with our prompt resolution of the garbage disposal issue through our skilled repairman. However, it’s clear how frustration can arise due to the repeated problems you're encountering with your refrigerator at the rental property.
We completely understand the challenges repetitive repairs pose, and recognize that speaking to different repair technicians per call doesn't seem efficient. Your suggestion of considering a replacement in a timely manner—especially due to recurring issues and appliance age—is understandable.
Please know that we take your feedback seriously. It's crucial for every member of our team to actively pursue communication among technicians.
Thank you again.

The company who came out for my fridge did a really good job. They came once and fixed it. They also came for my microwave. They ordered the parts, came back, and fixed it in one go. The tech was so responsible. The previous company that American Home Shield sent for the fridge came four or five times, and I still had the same problem with the freezer not working.
American Home Shield charges $125 for every visit. Sometimes, they come, check, diagnose, and order a part. That’s a little bit hard when they're not able to do anything. When they come and fix it quickly, it’s okay. I like their customer service. When I call, they just hold for two or three minutes. It's very good.

There was no display on my oven. The contractor ordered a replacement part based on the initial diagnosis. That was replaced, but the oven stopped working after a couple of days. I reached out to American Home Shield and explained that it’s not working after the replacement. They did not charge me for the follow-up request. They initially assigned it to the same contractor. I told them I had issues with him not proactively communicating, so I suggested to reassign it to another contractor. It was assigned to the original contractor, but they declined, so I got a new contractor. The new contractor is supposed to inspect the oven this Friday. I need this resolved because the oven has been down for more than a month now.
I’ve been with American Home Shield for more than 10 years. I keep them because when things go down, I can get it looked at and addressed. I don’t have to do the homework of finding contractors by myself because they have their own approved vendors. They have been able to take care of my issues. I just wish they could also cover other things for the same cost, because I have to pay more if I have to cover electronics. Otherwise, for the stuff that is broken, those things are covered in my current plan.

American Home Shield and Accent did an outstanding job. The condensing unit in my heat pump was shorting out. And it was 40 years old so, because of the age, they couldn't get a part. Not only did the condensing unit need to be replaced but the old furnace wasn't compatible. So, they had to replace the condensing unit and the air handling unit. It's only been in for two weeks since the replacement but it's been working. It has been really hot. It has kept the home in a constant 70 degrees.
AHS is only as good as the people they send out here, and Accent was fabulous.

Drain Masters took three days to come in, which is not as fast as we’d like. We also had them do our water heater before, when we first had AHS. They said it wouldn’t affect the flow of my bathtub and it drastically did. So we fought with them for a while and just gave up. We put “Don’t use Drain masters”. But this time, the guy was okay. He gave us several different times that he said he would arrive, but one job before ours took longer than he expected and he got lost.
He apologized and explained what was wrong with the AC. He told us that somebody would call me because a part needs to be ordered. The part was supposed to be in within five days after I pay the first down payment. So, I paid $1100 for the part, but I couldn't understand why I had to pay that much when I have American Home Shield. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for a microwave magnetron that had gone out and a stove light that was burnt out. I filed the claim online, but I have had issues with the online portal before, because it does not always list the correct options, such as when my AC broke, and I had to choose a different type. For this recent claim, I contacted chat support because I did not see a way to add multiple issues solvable by the same contractor. They had some trouble at first, but figured it out and did it.
I would recommend American Home Shield to someone who is not extremely handy or is busy but willing to deal with going back and forth before a problem gets solved. I have gotten my value out of it, and it can pay for itself, especially with an older home like mine. The monthly price is high, but it can be cheaper if you have enough problems in a year.

We're hearing bubbling that's coming out of the toilets when we're running the showers. And then there's also a shaking sound with the pipes as well. So, it's two different issues, and it's happening in multiple toilets. And so the thing that we put in with American Home Shield was essentially like those are the symptoms. And then Trophy Plumbing came out, and they identified the sewer clean-out on the exterior of the house as the issue and that it was clogged. And so that's what they cleaned out, and we haven't had an issue since. They were incredibly helpful. They were professional and they heard our concerns. And we even asked them questions. And they explained how this is a common thing that happens when this particular part is clogged.
That's the first time we put in a claim, and we had a positive experience. We’ve had it for a month. Our Realtor suggested getting a home warranty. And we heard positive reviews about American Home Shield. We're first-time homeowners, and we hear mixed reviews about having a home warranty system, but it was a positive first experience. I have a couple of other claims I need to put in, so I’m hoping to receive the same quality of service and responsiveness.

Island Breeze HVAC came out. They looked at the unit. And then next thing you know they sent me a quote for $3,000 for the replacement of a $7,000 unit. I contacted AHS to see how much of the repair they were going to cover. And they said it’s around $200. I asked American Home Shield why I am getting a $3,000 repair quote when they are only paying $200 to repair.
At first, they were telling me they couldn't discuss with me what the amount was, only because I was asking the HVAC company and I was asking American Home Shield what the amount was. And then the company also told me that AHS wouldn't disclose with him how much exactly they were paying. And he said that all he could tell me was that you guys were going to send him the evaporator system. He didn't know how much AHS purchased it for or from where.
So, after I contacted them numerous times, the only valid answer that I got was that the way I would get an amount was for me to do a cash out and that AHS did not approve to replace my AC. They only approved it to fix it. I told AHS that the contractor gave me two options, repair or replace. And if I'm the homeowner and I choose to replace, if I'm going to invest $3,500 on a unit, I'd rather invest $7,000 on a brand-new unit where I'll have a 10-year warranty and it's a new unit.
American Home Shield gave me a payout of $200. So, I'm going to call to cancel my membership. If anything happens, I'd rather save that money so I can replace whatever goes wrong in my house than sit here and hassle with American Home Shield. My mom had it for about 15 years. And that's the reason why I went with AHS. But I’m very dissatisfied.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

The unit got cold and the ice was melting in the freezer. But the stuff was freezing in the fridge. The tech came back again. The unit was getting warmer as my wife lost some of her medicine that had to stay refrigerated.
I met with the tech one time and he said it was not consistent or it was not cooling or leaking. He said he or American Home Shield would get back to me. If I hadn't heard anything from American Home Shield, he said it would be Monday. But Monday was Memorial Day. I saw on the app that the estimate had been done. I left it alone. A couple of days later, they submitted the determination and the replacement.
American Home Shield sent me the link to pick out my fridge from Lowe's. They gave me an online gift card and nothing was in stock. My wife went to Lowe's and picked out a new fridge. I am shocked that it actually fits in the exact same hole. None of the trim had to be moved. Yesterday, techs came and installed the . Everything has been completed.
This is the first claim I had with American Home Shield. I like the communication between the app and submitting the claim, and then the communication back from American Home Shield that the claim has been assigned. A tech texted me to ask me some basic questions like where I was and if anybody was gonna be there. He asked what the fridge was doing. It was quick.
When he was on his way to my house, he texted me, "ETA, 9:15." He was there within minutes of that. It wasn't like, I'll be there between 10:00 and 2:00 and show up at 1:59. The home warranty company I was with decided to come out of the home warranty business. I then chose American Home Shield as it looked to have the best price and coverage that I could find. I've been pleased with them. I had an issue with my refrigerator, but we got it solved. The freezer door would not shut and it stopped cooling. American Home Shield sent somebody. The first person who came didn't want to fool with it and said, "Can't do anything with it." The home warranty had always said that if they couldn't fix something, they would replace it.
I went round and round with them about either fixing it or replacing it. I was not pleased with the two earlier companies they sent. They just came in and said, "We can't do anything with it. We'll send in the report." Apparently, the report never got sent. The third person who came was from Long Beach and he was an older gentleman. He was perfect. He took some time to look at the refrigerator and realized that it was a compressor. He actually pulled the refrigerator out and took the part off. He then fixed the door for me on-site. That issue finally got resolved. But I went probably two weeks without this refrigerator. I had one in my garage that I could use, but I got pretty irritated with American Home Shield about that.
Any other time, American Home Shield has been great. You can't beat a $100 deductible when the repair is gonna cost so much more than that. They just went up on their price by about $25 a month, which is a jump. But they go up every year, which is expected. Overall the price is good still.
In my experience, American Home Shield has given me the overall best service I've had. Customer service is great. But when I've had to talk with people, I have a hard time hearing. Many of the people have a foreign accent, which is hard for me to understand. That aside, American Home Shield encourages me to have my system checked. I went to their website and mistakenly clicked on something indicating that I had a problem. But it was supposed to be preventative. Two young men came and they were wonderful.
I wish I had gotten more coverage with American Home Shield from the get-go. But the coverage is good and it's been pretty comprehensive. I haven't had much other than the AC, the heat, and the refrigerator. That's really all I've ever used my warranty for. I had a sewage problem at one time, but it was something that was not under the coverage. We couldn't find my water shutoff and that was something that was done with the building of the house. I got a plumber for that and we were able to get that rectified.
I would encourage anyone to look at American Shield. I have encouraged my daughter to get it. When they built onto their house when they got married in October, I said, "This thing has saved me many a day." I had an old AC system and that got replaced.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are glad to hear that Overall, you're satisfied with American Home Shield's coverage and service at an attractive price. We apologize for the initial difficulties with the refrigerator service, but we're pleased that it was resolved and that All South Air Systems LLC impressed you with their service during the preventative maintenance check. We had some plumbing in our yard that broke, and my understanding was it was covered. We called, paid the $100 call fee, and they came out. The plumber, who was excellent, said that he needed approval to fix the problem because he needed to cut a pipe. His request was rejected because according to American Home Shield, it fell outside the parameters of what they covered, but we still had to pay $100 even though he wasn't allowed to fix the problem. They totally ripped us off $100 and I wasn’t happy about that. I'm gonna cancel my policy with Home Shield because it's clearly a scam.
That wasn’t the first time they’d done something shady. My dishwasher was clogged and someone came out and fixed it, but it broke down two weeks later, so he wasn’t great. There's supposed to be a 30-day warranty. We called on the 30th day, and they said it had already expired. So, we had to pay another $100 to get it fixed even though according to their own rules, we would have still been under warranty. So, I'm done with this company. I think it's a total racket.
It's also weird that the people they contract to send out to us, sometimes they're great and sometimes they're really not, and it's very suspicious. They say all these kinds of repairs that are needed that really aren't. That's what happened with my furnace and I'm tired of having to deal with these people. I'm paying money for insurance, and I can't trust the people they send us.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

American Home Shield sent someone over to do the yearly checkup for our HVAC. I wasn’t there but my son was and he said everything was okay. I don't usually have somebody come out every year, but because I make payments, why not use it? The last time they came out, I had a problem with my ice maker, and they couldn’t repair it, so they gave me a new one, so that was cool.
The only problem I have with Home Shield is once I pay that initial fee they come out and assess it and then they come out again to put a part in, and every time anybody comes out, it's almost $80. They should be able to have it on hand. My ex-wife also has American Home Shield, and she had an issue with two ice makers. He had to come out four times until he just replaced both ice makers. So, they handle it. When they come out, they do a good job, so overall, it's good.

The microwave wasn't heating up, and then two burners on our stove quit working. They came out and checked, said they needed parts, so they ordered those parts. The guy did come out and fix them and they’re working, but I had to wait two months. It’s easy filing claims. I don't have to be on a long phone call going on and on and repeating myself like I have to with other places, and American Home Shield responds pretty quickly. It’s just that they could’ve communicated better. They could’ve told me the parts were delayed, so I was assured they were working on it and I’m not just waiting and waiting. And the coverage sucks. The lights weren’t working in my bathroom, and I thought it was covered under the contract, but it wasn’t. They were here two days trying to figure out what was wrong and it ended up costing me $7,000, which I was not prepared for. But that's my fault ‘cause I didn't read through the entire contract.

I had some difficulty getting a good technician in the past with American Home Shield. But my last two claims were fine. For the pool, the guy did a good job and replaced the motor. It was cracked. For the plumbing, the tech did a good job as well. That was for the bathroom valve. He came out, found the problem, put in a new cartridge, and fixed the problem. Everything's working fine. I got American Home Shield for my vacation home, which is in another town. That's functioning fine.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for being a long-term customer of American Home Shield! It’s been about three years now since I have American Home Shield. It's pretty good for the most part. The online correspondence is a little tricky sometimes because you have more questions than you're able to get asked online. But speaking to a rep directly have definitely been more beneficial and more informative. But overall, it's been a good experience.
The contractors are knowledgeable, most of the time. They seem to be experts in their field. If they aren't able to assess or address whatever issues I'm having, they're good as far as identifying resources or service providers that could help with the issue. So again, overall, it's been a positive experience with the technicians.
American Home Shield is worth looking into if people want to make that investment for extra protection. It's available. A lot of people don't know about home warranties, may not have the additional income for the product. But if the resources are available, I definitely think it's worthwhile. Especially if you're like me, not very technical, not very handy. It's always good to have somebody you can call when you need immediate service or assistance

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a decade and their customer service is below average. I almost always file claims online, which works very well.
Recently, I had a light switch that needed replacement in my garage. They sent the company out here and the guy was nice, he was prompt, and everything was great. When he left, the switch was installed backwards. So when the switch is up, the light is off. And when it's down, the light is on. I called to complain and the guy was something else. He's the rudest, with absolutely no customer focus. He was horrible.
He insulted me, told me that, as an adult, he was shocked that I didn't know more about electricity. He was totally insulting. He was completely inappropriate. It’s been a couple of weeks, and until now, the light switch is still backwards.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're pleased to hear that you've found our claims process efficient. This time, unlike the last time, the vendor contacted me right away. When I contacted them, they actually answered the phone. When they set up the appointment, the appointment was done in a reasonable amount of time. They got back to me. The person had a difficult time at the previous client on the day that they were to come out, and the office contacted me. The technician stayed in contact with me. I've had American Home Shield for 15 years at least. They make it so difficult, though. I had Patriot Plumbing scheduled for a backup the first time. I canceled it because I already had somebody to come in. They couldn't come in till today and it was an emergency situation this weekend where my sewer had backed up. The original claim was a pipe was leaking and it was denied because there wasn't any straps. I told Patriot Plumbing that I had been in the house 30 years and I've never heard or seen straps. Another plumber that came in that I had to hire outside of them said that there was a strap, but it wasn't within the amount of feet that it's supposed to be, and he showed me where it was. It was on the other side of the wall where there was a bathroom. He denied it and he wanted to charge me $1,000 to fix a pipe that somebody charged me $400 to do.
When I asked for a second opinion, AHS said that they didn't have any other providers that could come out for a second opinion. They canceled out everything and put me in a spot where I can't really appeal because they didn't have anybody else to come out because they don't have any other providers.
This is not the first time I've had to go through the wringer. I had a hot water heater that bust and it took them three weeks to get somebody to come out. I lived without hot water for three weeks and had to end up getting my own getting somebody to put the water heater in. Of course, they cash you out. They don't give you anything near what it costs to do it or replace the hot water. The hot water heater itself was about $300.
I had stuff that came through without a hitch. If it's an appliance like a dryer, it's no problem with the replacement. But not when it comes to any type of repair that requires manual labor. I've been told by several plumbers and people that AHS has sent out that the reason why they don't have any providers in this area is because they don't want to work with them, which is not good. They have one plumber in this area, Patriot Plumbing.
I pay my $100, I get nothing, and they don't want to reimburse me the $100 because somebody came out. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I didn't get the services that I needed to have taken care of and I still had to go out on my own. If I went with the plumber that they sent out, I would have paid double of what needed to be done. That's crazy. If your procedure is to have a second opinion, then you should have someone there that can provide that service of a second opinion and not say, "We don't have any more providers." We revert to the original provider's decision to not pay the claim, I'm stuck because I'm out of $100 deductible that I had to pay for the services I got nothing from. I've requested my deductible to be replaced, but I haven't heard anything. I doubt if I will.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since 2017. Generally, customer service is good. I had some issues with the washer’s drum. The bearing broke, and the contractor AHS assigned to me came over filed the assessment, but either they can’t fix it or it was expensive to do so. I was offered some cash or could purchase a washer through the website. It got installed today. My issue is that the contractors they select are most of the time are not good enough. My oven repair went well, and I had very good experience with the last contractor, which is rare. When I checked the reviews after I was assigned to this company, they had good ones. The appointment was booked immediately and I had high expectations. Unfortunately, most of the time the contractors they assign aren’t really professional. The last claim with my leaking garbage disposal is still open. I have to fix it.

One of the problems that I've had with American Home Shield is that the technicians that they send out are basically not happy about doing an AHS call. I paid the $125 service fee and have been paying my premiums all along. However, technicians have a rate that's negotiated lower than what technicians would charge usually and customarily.
Elite Appliance came out due to issues with some of the appliances, one of them being a refrigerator freezer that they worked on multiple times. They also worked on a GE washing machine that was leaking and a GE dryer as well. In addition to that, since I've been dealing with AHS, I had a lot of problems with my original cooktop that was 23 years old. The guy that came in did something. The cooktop started sparking, causing the porcelain inside to scorch. The handle fell off as well when I opened it. I sent in multiple requests. The microwave won’t stay closed as well.
My washing machine was a top-of-the-line Maytag that had everything. Elite Appliance came out several times but couldn't fix it. AHS was supposed to send me a cashout but never did. I got tired of going back and forth to the laundromat. I went on at least eight different occasions, and every time I did a wash, it was $6 then another $4 to dry. It killed the whole day, too.
While waiting, they sent out an individual. He took him a long time to come though, and English was not his primary language. I always try to take the high ground and tried to be empathetic with him. I got him to try to talk to AHS but he refused. He stuck in a non-OEM coil that was smoking and some of the other coils were not coming on. I had to go for periods of time using a hot plate. I made sure that the gentleman for Elite Appliances took the pictures and examined the cooktop and the microwave that I put in. He could see that it was two brand-new units.
I never got the cashout for a GE four-burner electric cooktop and the GE over-the-range microwave. I ended up going out and purchasing items. I went to Lowe's, one of AHS’ people, and they had a unit that somebody purchased, but didn't like the color. The unit was on retail at $1,300. I explained to the manager what happened. He sold me the unit for $300 with a full warranty. It had a weird color and had a little dent on the side, but they can't resell it as new because it had been sent to somebody and they returned it. It was in their marked-down area.
For the cooktop, AHS has the buying power to purchase appliances at wholesale or below wholesale. After I called in, they're supposed to call me and make a diagnostic visit within 24 to 48 hours. They came out, did a diagnosis, then reported back to AHS. The guy said, “It probably needs to be replaced,” but AHS told him no.
I'm a single disabled parent, blind in one eye, use a walker, and low-income. I've got three young children under 18 that I have to cook for, and especially utilize the microwave a lot, which is approximately 13 years old. I wasn't asking for a fancy-dancy upgrade. I was saying, “Give me one that functions.” Also, all the appliances are white. To try to get a white cooktop and a white microwave, they couldn't do it. They said they ordered a handle, which didn't match, and the door of the microwave was cracked. The inside was all burn marks and it wouldn't come on. I went to Lowe's again and talked to the lady in the appliances. I said, “Can you please keep your eye out for any specials that are coming up that I can get?”
I paid approximately $350 for the microwave, $300 for the washing machine, and $350 for the electrical dryer. Bottom line is I wasn't gonna continue. I did not get reimbursed for the cooktop, washing machine, microwave, and dryer. We had a big family reunion that came up a couple of months ago and family and friends from all over the country were coming to the house. I couldn't use my appliances, so I bit the bullet.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.
Warm regards,
Kim

Electrical item gets power but doesn't do anything. No fix because it is getting power. Another item is clogged drain, 'sludge not suppose to be there' cost extra to open drain. Another item, waiting 5 days with 105 degree temperature for the tech to arrive and say 'we don't service that brand' - waiting 3 more days for AHS to follow-up with a resource. 8 days of over 105 degrees, I called my own provider to give it more coolant. There was water in the vent of the dryer, so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The contractors were fine. This is the first time I've had to have them come out a second time. They came out twice because we didn't understand how the water got in the vent, and we didn't want to touch it. They said it's a recall order. The same company came out, unhooked the vent, and checked everything out. The problem was resolved. My timer was also replaced on the dryer, so it's now working perfectly. I did not have to pay another service fee for that. However, there are certain things that's not covered in the warranty. They did not cover the lint inside the vent that's connected to the dryer. No one can help me with that because that's not part of the dryer and we should be able to get that lint out ourselves.
But overall, I have not had any issues with them in the last couple of years since I've had their warranty. The customer service is great. When you submit a claim, they give you a number, or the company calls you and then they set up the appointment. When I call, I get someone out within 48 hours. Someone will call me in the next day or two to set up the appointment, and then they show up. The contractors that they sent to my house were professional, and they got the job done excellently. I've recommended them to others.

My daughter had a problem with the hot water heater. American Home Shield sent out two technicians. They were very professional and respected the house. Because I'm not the owner of the house, I was very guarded about letting them in the basement by themselves. But I felt very good about having them there. I didn't feel that I needed to be watching everything they did. After replacing the hot water heater, they cleaned up and placed the old one on the curb. There is hot water now when I turn the heater on. I was really pleased with our first claim submission. It went smoothly and was timely. I was without a washer for over two months due to an LF error. American Home Shield took so long to address it. Express Appliance was the first company to come. They came four times and were worthless. They kept throwing parts at it, and it wouldn't fix it. They didn't even take the machine apart, barely listened to what we had to say, and got into an argument with one of the guys on the phone about what the problem was. He kept telling me that I was wrong.
I had to call American Home Shield several times to argue about getting a new person to come out and look at it. They wouldn't let me switch vendors, and tried to charge me to get another vendor to come out. Then a new person came out and looked at it. The new guy was very thorough. He reviewed the bunch of codes on the main board and saw all the error codes that we were getting. After a couple of days, I got my new machine.
The customer service seemed okay, but the website is not. They took off something on the website that makes it very difficult now to cancel a service call. I had to call and actually try to talk to somebody to cancel their service call. I hate calling them. Sometimes, I would sit on hold for 15-20 minutes. They said that they’d call me back, but they didn't. It takes a while to get through to them, and it's very canned. I could tell that they're going through a script.
I have very little positive to say about American Home Shield. They're way too expensive, so I'm not renewing my contracts next time we move. It’d be nice if there were more items covered. I had a couple of things that they wouldn't cover so I had to pay out of pocket. I wanted to dump them, but my husband didn't want to.

When I had an issue with my air conditioner, Majestic Custom Heating and Air Conditioning replaced the circuit board inside the furnace. In submitting the claim, I went on the website, and then it triggered automatically which contractor they hired to come to my property and see what was wrong. They saw what was wrong and fixed it, and I paid 100 bucks for them to come out.
The contractor went in, figured out what the issue was, said that there was a part that he needed to order that would take like a week or so. And then he came back out with the part, swapped it out. Since then, everything seems to be performing fine.
I have also submitted claims for my refrigerator that broke along with a couple other smaller ones, and they were resolved quickly. But, there was a sprinkler issue that I had that was outside of the house, and that was denied. Still, I like how easy it is to get a quick response and somebody come out and fix it. It’s always a plus. It pays for itself as long as you use it. But, they should also cover components outside of the home, not just inside the home.

It didn't take the tech long to do the thing. And he checked it once he did it. And then he was gone.

I have a toilet that is broken. Somebody just sat down on it to go to the bathroom and broke the toilet bowl. The back just blew up. It was my uncle. He has special needs, and he sat down and leaned back on it like a seat, and it broke. So then that was the initial call. Then three weeks ago, I noticed the sinks were leaking in the bathroom. So, that's why I made the claim on the sinks, and I had taken them out to fix them.
I showed them the broken parts, and the technician said it was because of the way they built it. Both bathrooms have the same issue. They over-tightened it, and over time, that plastic will break so, that's where the leak was. It was the drain. And we got denied for the repairs on those. They think it could be negligence. They would claim that as not suitable to fix so it would be on the customer.
We tried to reach out to talk to someone else and get an explanation, however, it was after hours. Shortly after that, my grandma passed away, and we've been busy with a whole bunch of other stuff, so the toilet's the last of my worries.
This is my first claim in 3 years. I've been paying a decent amount of money to this company–$50 a month for 3 years. And we paid $125 just for the tech to come out and check it out. And now, I'm down $125, so we're thinking about canceling. We were supposed to call them and try to dispute the 125 because it was denied and they couldn't do any repairs or do anything for us.
My mom has AHS and she's had two or three really good experiences where they came in, low deductible, $50, and they fixed the issue, and that was it. So I was glad I have them but then turns out that they were worthless. I've been paying this money for an insurance that's not even there.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

I started off with Select Home and had such a horrible experience with them with the air conditioning unit that I immediately canceled and told them to give me back my money because I paid for three years in advance. As soon as I canceled with them, I started looking for a new company. And my sister said AHS is good. I went ahead and got them and they're not very good for me because it cost me over $1200 to make that repair and I got nothing from Home Shield.
The tech showed me a picture of the pipe when they dug it up. It's a cast iron pipe. It's a 2-inch pipe and there was a hole about an inch wide. Before I bought the house, someone tried to do a repair, and the way they did it was just pouring cement over the pipe. So, they had to pull all that out and they put in the PVC pipe from the house over to where that was, and then they did a shoe on it and a buckle. So, it's fixed now. My washing machine no longer overflows. I can do washing and the dishwasher at the same time now. So, basically, Home Shield was a waste of my money.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

I had a claim that was denied because it was preexisting, but they might have had a point. I was upset at the time because I wanted them to come out and do a pre-check before the policy, and they said it was not necessary. No pre-inspection is needed. And then when I started moving into the house, it wasn’t working, so I called them and then they said that it was not covered. Nevertheless, the guy who came out was nice.
I called and there was a manager that I spoke with, but they were truly horrendous. They were part of the problem. I wanted to share the home inspection that I got, and they said that they do not accept the home inspection because it is from over three months ago.
I asked, “Then how do I prove to you that this was working beforehand?” They said, “You need an inspection from within three months.” I replied, “When I bought the policy, why wasn’t that told to me? Why wasn’t the three-month rule that you are now creating told to me?” They said it is in the policy. I read the policy. I asked where and they could not. The guy wanted to hang up on me. It’s an absolute scam that they are pulling. It is terrible, so find somebody else.

American Home Shield is a good thing. I think everybody should have it. I filed a claim for my main breaker over the phone. I couldn't get it to come back on. And then they had called the contractor and they gave me the number to the facility, and that they were gonna schedule.
I actually called Sunbelt myself once they gave me the number. Then they came out. The interaction was great. I'm really apprehensive about the problems with the plumbing companies they'd sent out.
I was in the restaurant business for 35 years, so I know a hell of a lot about service companies. So, I like American Home Shield. But sometimes, some of the people they send out are a little sketchy. Well, they have a list of service companies that other people have used.
And when they give me a name, I can quickly google that company and see whether or not I wanna deal with that company. Whereas if I just called up somebody random, I could be wasting my time for a couple days.
But the interaction with Sunbelt, I thought it was awesome, from the phone person, to whoever scheduled the appointment, and to the guy they sent out, Montana. He did a great job. They even got me out sooner than what they told me they were gonna schedule. So, I was happy.
There was a problem with my main breaker, its cabinet. So, he shut all the power off. I don't like messing with the main breaker. He had to turn all the breakers off and turn them back on, and he fixed the door.
American Home Shield also fixed my microwave one time. And for 75 bucks, I got another microwave. I think it was the magnetron. They're not always great to have, but if I was gonna try to sell it to somebody, I’d say you're probably better off with it for the amount of money you pay.
They raised your deductible. Originally, it was like 50 bucks. Then it went up to 75 bucks. Now, it's 100. I get it. But it's a good thing to have. Because nowadays, a lot of these service companies get backed up. Their biggest problem right now is getting good help.
So, they narrow the field as far as how many service companies you wanna get in touch with.Im good with their price, and I hope they don't raise it anymore.
It's good to hear that you had a great experience with us! Thank you so much for your wonderful review. If you have any further needs or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

We've always been satisfied with American Home Shield. The shower wasn't draining. So, we filed a claim. We always do it online, and it's pretty easy. The contractor that came out there was fine. He called me. I met him out there because we requested about a 10-15 minute heads-up.
Well, he called me that morning and he said he’s the guy who's gonna fix our deal. I think he was from a plumbing company. And he gave me a heads-up that it's probably gonna be sometime around the lunch hour.
And then he called me about two or three hours later, and said, it's taking just a little bit longer. I said that's fine and don't worry about it. I can leave work whenever I get to. He said he'd be there in 20 minutes, and he was there. I told him what the deal was.
He’s very courteous and very attentive to what I was saying. He looked at it, went out to the truck, got what he needed, came back in, took the drain cover off, ran that thing, and cleaned the shower up. He was there for 30 minutes. And it's great. Also, he cleaned everything up.
It's good customer service because I'm in the customer service business myself. Sometimes a text or an email is basically all you need sometimes, but every once in a while we'll get a phone call. I like it.
Every time we send an email request for something to be worked on or get fixed, usually, within about an hour, I'm getting a text on my phone that somebody will be contacting me. Now, if it's in the afternoon, they said, we'll be contacting me tomorrow, and I'll get that response.
I'd tell my family and neighbors that if they're moving or somebody moving in, they need a home warranty. If they don't have one, definitely give these people a shout. Give American Home Safe a try.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with us. If you have any further needs or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

We had a problem with the toilet and ended up needing to replace the shutoff valve under the toilet. The original valve, installed when the house was built in '72, was wearing out and no water was coming through it. It wasn't flushing or filling very quickly at all. Sean, the technician from American Home Shield, replaced the shutoff valve. He also cleared up the sediment that built up in the toilet that was contributing to our first problem. Our second problem was the outdoor faucet. We couldn't turn it on and it has a plastic handle. It must have been the original and it had broken, so when the handle was turned, no water was coming out. Sean replaced that with a metal handle. It is now working fine.
We were really satisfied with how both problems were addressed. American Home Shield has always provided excellent service. Once in a while, there's been a problem where they thought they completed the project and we still had a recurring problem. So, they came right back out and corrected it. We've been very pleased with them.

I contacted American Home Shield over the phone, and they asked me what my issue was. The appliance had a burning smell and it stopped working. Sears was sent out and they were fine. They dealt with my wife when they first came out. They ordered and replaced a part that was damaged. Once they took that part out, they realized there was far more damage. And then they contacted the company. They decided that it wasn’t worth repairing, and so American Home Shield sent us a replacement value.
I have been with them for 10 years, and it was part of our home purchase. We had the option to continue with it and so we have. Any time we have had an issue, they have been definitely helpful. They make arrangements to deal with your issue at hand, and they send someone out. They send you text messages, letting you know that you’ve got a repair person coming. It is prompt. The only issue I had with the website was when they told me to go there, but it took a couple days for me to actually log in and make it work. Still, if you’re considering a home warranty, they would be the company I’d go with.

My last message to summarize: I am not seeking reimbursement or a repair of the unit. I am requesting a credit toward a replacement unit through Frontdoor, based on the sequence of events and the role your assigned vendor played in the unit’s failure. We are willing to pay some of the repairs as well. Your response continues to cite the involvement of an outside contractor as the reason for refusal of service. However, that position ignores the core issue — That the unit was already damaged, and that damage was caused by Complete Comfort, the AHS-assigned vendor.
•The furnace control board had already failed before their arrival.
•A bypass was approved by to temporarily operate the system by manually controlling it at the breaker. It had already been over two weeks since the claim had been filed with small children in the house.
•The bypass was not responsible for damaging the system; it was a stopgap, not a cause of failure.
•Most critically, the technician confirmed that the previous vendor (Complete Comfort) had incorrectly wired low-voltage lines to the high-voltage load side at the disconnect, which is a serious error that would explain the original damage to the board.
To be clear:•The decision to temporarily bypass the board did not cause the damage — It allowed the system to run manually while I waited on AHS, who had been unresponsive for three weeks.
•The control board had already been diagnosed by AHS’s own vendor as needing replacement — The technician even ordered the part. The lack of communication from the vendor caused me to bring a 3rd party.
The steps to issue a credit through Frontdoor for unit replacement, considering the breakdown was clearly due to vendor error. I understand you have a business to run and I have family to feed. All I’m asking is for understanding and help to get the matter solved.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

If I could give them zero stars I absolutely would. I have paid for a home warranty with this company for several years. I had 2 failed appliances. They didn’t successfully repair either. They only allow you to use their vendors. Their vendors aren’t very honest. American Home Shield sent a vendor to my house to repair or replace my AC. The vendor knew or should have known that the unit they ordered a was incompatible with the existing electrical capacity in my home. American Home Shield approved of this unit being ordered but has refused to pay for the installation.
I have been dealing with this claim since October. It is now mid June and the AC in my house still doesn’t work. They keep asking me for more and more money to get it working even though the replacement is covered. Save yourself the aggravation and don’t give them your business. Recently, Ace's Garage Door Repair worked on our automated garage door that has an activation switch on the wall, but has the garage remotes. And what's happening is at random times, the garage door is just opening and closing. So we'll go to bed on the night or I'll go to work in the morning, and my partner will get up and the garages are open. It obviously leaves us exposed to theft.
The first guy came out. He had a look at it, didn't go very deep. And then left. It's still happening. Second guy came out. I wasn't there, but I believe we programmed the system. I called American Home Shield when there was leaking water on my refrigerator. Whoever I talked to was fine with me. They’ve done what they were supposed to do. The guy from River City Appliances was all right. He was good. I talked to him a little bit and he seemed to be a nice fellow. And I was well-satisfied with him. He just said he was gonna talk to AHS and explain what it was doing. And then he was leaving it up to them that the unit was old. It was not really worth putting the money into it.
The seal was all in bad shape which is why it was leaking. AHS told me they were gonna replace it. I was very satisfied. I went ahead and went with the first thing that showed up which was Amana. They've done me good. I'm very satisfied with the service so far. However sometimes you have two problems. And you call it in and if the guy doesn't do that particular work, that's aggravating. I had that happen with the microwave. When I called for the fridge, I forgot to tell them about the microwave. I could have gotten that covered too. I'm not gonna pay $100 for a call-in and for $50 or $25 handle. And it should be under warranty.
I’ve been with AHS for four years. My buddy told me that he had it. My mother-in-law passed away and we ended up with the house. So, we just fixed it up and then rented it out. And so, I put it on under the plan so I wouldn't have to mess with it. And then I come across another house and I put it under the same plan. So, I got two houses under American Home Shield. My sister and my nephew signed up for it after I talked to her, when I first put it on these two properties.
I was well-satisfied with Elite and River City. They're both good, done their job, and done what they're supposed to do.

Electricity was not going through the unit. He found out the batteries were corroded and the cables were loose on the thermostat. As soon as he fixed that, I haven't had a problem.
I was with them before and left because I couldn’t afford their prices. I went with a cheaper one. I called that company when my microwave broke, and they told me to get a contractor and just send them the bill. I said, “What?” I called back American Home Shield and told them the reason why I left them was because I’m on Social Security on a fixed income and couldn’t afford them. They said they have a program to help senior citizens. I was paying $180 a month before, and they took it down to $69 a month. But where my house calls used to be $75, now it’s $125. The panel on my dishwasher was not turning on. I went online and requested the service. The service provider came and asked me to remove everything because he had to turn the water off. He asked me where the circuit board was so he can turn the power off for the dishwasher. I heard the cycle once he finished. When the panel didn’t work again and there was water at the bottom, I asked for a second visit. The provider came over and did the same thing. They didn’t have the part that was misfunctioning, so they ordered that. He came back, replaced the part, and ran a cycle. The next morning, I found that there’s water at the bottom again and the panel is still not working. I told my husband he would need to call the service provider to have him visit again.
I’ve been with American Home Shield since 2009. I keep them because I don’t wanna have to look around for somebody when I have an issue. I just pay them, and if it’s covered, they’ll take care of it. They’ll do the leg work for me. With someone else, you have to pay them for the labor, the actual time they take to fix, and the parts that they will replace. I don't have to worry about that with American Home Shield. I like that I can go online and submit my work order. They’ll assign it to a provider and contact me within 24 hours with a schedule. If they don’t call me, I can call the provider directly.

A week or two later, it stopped cooling again, so I called them. The receptionist told me they needed to order a part. It turned out the guy didn’t replace the part the first time. They sent him out again, but he didn’t come out. I called again, and no one returned my call
I finally called American Home Shield. The rep said that the refrigerator could not be repaired and that she would send me a check. She told me a certain amount and that they took the service call off of it. I had never heard that before in my 20-some years with AHS. I was very disappointed when I heard that. She said it would be 21 days before I get the check. I’m without a refrigerator for months.
I’m very dissatisfied because this has been going on for a long time. We even called someone to come out, and they told us they could not come out and work behind someone else. AHS even sent Sears, and Sears refused to even look at the refrigerator because someone had been out prior to them.
In the beginning, they were great. My niece recommended them to me. I had them come out to do work before, and the coverage was fine up until recently with the refrigerator. Now I go to the mailbox every day, looking for a check, and there’s nothing there. Plus, their price went up. I started out paying 30 something dollars, and now it’s up to 100 and some dollars. If someone asked me today if I would recommend them, I would say no.

My air conditioning system started leaking, so I had an inspector evaluate it. He discovered that the system had been installed incorrectly and that the drain pipe was not properly angled, which caused water to pool and leak into the ceiling. The damage cost $1,100 to repair. When Comfort Pros came out, they initially misdiagnosed the issue, but later came back to replace the main board and properly angle the drain. The system passed inspection afterward. The technicians were fine, but I am not happy that American Home Shield contracted with a company that did not properly install the air conditioning unit in the first place.
Natalie, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience didn’t meet your expectations but we are glad to hear the contractor corrected the issue. As a token of our apology, we would like to offer you a refund of your service fee for the inconvenience, this will be processed back to your original payment source in the next 7-10 business days. I had an issue with my air conditioner, it wasn’t pulling cold air. East Ohio Furnace came out to service it. They checked it and found that the compressor was shot. The contractor had to get all the information back to Home Shield, and then Home Shield would do their work on it. After that, they’re going to call me back within 24 hours.
The contractor was unbelievable and very sharp. They come in, do their job and they’re personable people. I have been with American Home Shield for three years. One time, the oven went out and they didn’t have some of the parts anymore. I ended up getting a brand-new oven out of it. Other than that, I haven’t had any problems. American Home Shield is a good company.

I recently filed a claim for a pool pump online, and it was really easy. They emailed me about the technician, and I tried to call AHS, but it says the best way to get a hold of them is by email. So, I emailed them, but they haven't responded yet. They say they’ll get back to me in 24 hours again, which is a bummer because my pool is getting full of algae now.
Overall, the interaction I’ve had with different contractors over nine years has been pretty good. The customer service has been great. American Home Shield has been good enough for me. I would recommend them

In my 14 years with American Home Shield, this was probably the best service because all of my experiences have not been great. I've had to call about my air conditioning and had to suffer days.

American Home Shield’s app is very responsive and user-friendly. I haven't had any trouble navigating it. It normally takes 24 to 48 hours for someone to contact you, but it's not that big a deal.
Getting AHS is worth it, especially being a homeowner. Before I moved to Corpus Christi, I was either renting or living on base. So, I always had some sort of landlord or housing or facilities to lean on. And being a homeowner, using the American Home Shield definitely helped with things that I may not be able to fix.
I called them to increase the temperature of my water heater, and then As One Plumbing came out and did so. And then the cold water valve started leaking. I had to file another claim for them to fix the cold water valve. My water heater was still under warranty, so they ordered the part, put it in the valve, but it was still leaking. So, then they decided to replace the water heater. Since it was still under warranty, I had to take it to a local Home Depot to get it replaced. I was able to get a new one. They installed it and put it up to code, raising it 18 inches above the ground, which is what it was supposed to be. They did a great job.
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with American Home Shield. We're delighted to hear that your overall experience with your water heater issue was positive and our service met your expectations. We're glad the warranty and mobile app tools were helpful in addressing concerns efficiently. We truly appreciate your kind words about the installation team and are thrilled that their service standards inspired confidence. We’re committed to delivering excellent value and dependable support for all homeowners. If there's ever any additional assistance you require, please feel free to reach out. I have been with American Home Shield for a good five years and depending on what's getting done, they’re good. You really just have to go through something to get something done. Patriot Plumbing came out supposedly to fix the shower. The guy came out and he said it was nothing he could do. He had to get another part. And then, my husband called back and they were saying they can't fix it. And if they do, they will charge us $200. We wound up paying someone else to get it done because I have to use that bathroom. I broke my ankle and I could fit my chair in the shower there.
Usually, when someone comes fix it, that's when AHS is supposed to take the money out of the account. They took the money but it's never been fixed. I called AHS and asked if they put the money back in my account. After three different people, they told me that they’re going to put the money back into my account. I'm not seeing it yet.
I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've encountered, and I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. I’d truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experience further and work toward a resolution.

The contractor came out for a free AC tune-up that was offered through their app. The contractor added an ounce of stuff to the AC compressor. That was all.
One thing they can improve is their website. It was good for the most part, but I wish they had more areas to put information in, because it’s kind of broad and they compiled stuff into one another for issues, and it wasn’t really a good explanation of what all issues are in that area.
Like, plumbing-wise, my sink broke but it wasn’t covered under their policy because it came off the mount. I had them come out and paid the deductible, but they were not able to fix it. Otherwise, it’s easy to just go on the app if you have simpler issues and click it, and they have been pretty good with communication on things too.
The coverage is good so far. Overall, I had a good experience with American Home Shield.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you found the free AC tune-up process straightforward and appreciated the ease of booking and communication through our app. We value your valuable insights regarding the app's detailing of specific issues not recognized in our warranty coverage, like the detached sink mount. Rest assured, your feedback is significant. Thank you for choosing us! We look forward to providing you with even better services in the future.

I’m not happy with LA Appliance sent out by American Home Shield. They came out in January, and when the installer pulled out my refrigerator, he put a dent in the door. Three weeks later, supposedly they ordered a part, but the part didn’t work. My dad said that no one brought any parts in the house. Then the next guy came out four weeks later and didn’t have any parts, but said that it’s not fixable. Then another guy came out and he said he can fix it. He ordered more parts, but still ignored the dent. Sometimes they bring parts in, and sometimes they don’t, but the whole time they’re charging American Home Shield for the parts that I never even saw come in my house. It’s a repeat thing.
Now they want to basically just give me money for my door. The representative told me they would rather just offer me $150 when my door could cost $300 to replace when it was their error. She said it was a small dent, and I said it didn’t matter and that their people put it in my refrigerator. It’s ridiculous that it is taking over six months to fix my refrigerator. They want me now to be the judge of whether my freezer is cold enough. My ice cream is still soft, so to me, it’s not.
The expedite team from American Home Shield was calling me daily, but LA Appliance will leave my house and put in an order really quick before they put in any kind of notifications so then AHS can’t do anything because there’s an order in place. They just pretty much stopped calling me, and I’ve sent several emails with no replies. I have to go through customer service now and get someone who doesn’t know anything about it, and you have to start the story over again. That gets frustrating. Also, I’m not quite real happy because AHS up my monthly bill, and my refrigerator still isn’t fixed.
I understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you further and address your concerns.

I’ve had American Home Shield for about a year and a half, but this is the first time I’ve actually used them, and it hasn’t gone very well. I’m so frustrated with them right now. I’d be iffy about using them again and would probably recommend other home warranty companies instead. There are cheaper options out there that aren't bad alternatives.
I’ve been having a couple of issues lately. For one, I called them to have someone look at my garage doors. Just Pro Garage Doors came out and fixed one garage, but my tenant called me and said they didn’t even look at the other side. When I called the company back to tell them they missed a side, they claimed I never mentioned it, even though I told both American Home Shield and Just Pro. I was a little annoyed they didn’t fix the whole situation, and they never came back out.
Then I had a snake issue where sewer water was coming up in my basement. The guy who came out said he couldn't go any further because he found roots, but I didn't see him pull any out. I went to Home Depot, got a snake, and did it myself. I didn't find any roots at all. All I had to do was push it out. Now, I’m having issues with AHS because they’re trying to pay me out for a water heater that went out for my tenants, and they’re saying that I was behind in payments.
But as far as customer service goes, they are on top of it. They're pretty patient and thorough when it comes to explaining what’s going on, or trying their best to understand what you’re saying as well.
Thank you for seeing past any shortcomings to leave a review. I sincerely apologize for the difficulties you've been experiencing. Your patience and understanding mean a lot to us. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our services.

I just canceled the contract with American Home Shield because I’m not happy with how things turned out. I paid a monthly fee, but it appears that when things were broken, they were not able to fix it without charging me thousands of dollars. They just claimed that there was nothing they were responsible for.
The technician did his review and said some things to American Home Shield, but whatever was documented just didn’t make sense to me. I wasn’t willing to pay $1,500 for something that they should have been responsible for repairing. It was not a favorable ending for me, and I’m just a dissatisfied person with the company. It’s best just to have the money to pay outright than to have a home warranty if they’re not going to do certain things for you like they claimed.

When my stove caught on fire, the appraiser came out to determine what was wrong and said it had to be replaced because he couldn't get the part, something to do with the motherboard. When he left, he said someone would come out within a couple of days to pick up the stove, but it's still sitting in my garage. Customer Service used to be better; you got these very nice people. I know that the Philippines is one of them. And they try their best to help. Once you get the contract, it feels like there's an extra layer. If you have a problem that goes outside the ordinary, you get the same kind of thing, and nothing gets done. I had an experience where there was a mix-up in sending the work order to General Electric for repair at that time. It was for my stove and the refrigerator at one of the different properties that I never called on. So, they didn't send the orders in separately. And so, they got a different response, or at least GE was saying, Oh, we just have the refrigerator. We didn't get the stove on it. And so then, after they realized that they were supposed to send it on two separate work orders, but for the same service fee, they tried to correct it. But it just got mixed up. I never got the callback they said I would, and it ended up being a mess.
I just had my refrigerator done, and the Haines guy has not responded. I had the refrigerator and the stove that GE was supposed to do. So, they ended up having to send a different contractor, and he was good. But the stove, when I called, was done on Wednesday or Thursday. And when I called on Saturday, they had not even received the technician's diagnosis. And his diagnosis for the stove was that it's gonna have to be replaced. It was an original appliance, although I hadn't used it much. Sometimes, the parts that you need to put on it are no longer manufactured. So, he knew what that was. So, he said, We're gonna have to replace the stove. He removed the ice that was melting in the refrigerator. It was a clogged condenser line. But the stove had to be replaced. And yet, American Home Shield has not even received the diagnosis from him to move forward with replacing the refrigerator. Now, it's going into the second week. The driving force behind American Home Shield is consumers who remain loyal to it.
There's been a lack of follow-through at times by these well-meaning folk who answer service requests. I've seen a deterioration from when I first started with American Home Shield to now.
I've also run into a couple of technicians who have been pretty bad. Now, when I call with a service request, I ask who they're assigning it to so I can look up the reviews. And it's not good when you see 1 star or 2 stars out of 5 stars.
They worry you to death if you miss a payment and bombard you, but when you call, they don't do that. It needs to be a beginning-to-end approach. In terms of us valuing you, it is that we stay with you that is longevity. The other one is that we pay on time, we do what we need to do, and we maintain the contracts. It's making sure that the thing that we're paying for is taken care of, and that the service department matches up with what you say you want to be to customers.

The young lady rep called me that afternoon and called me again the next morning to let me know what time to expect the tech. He showed up and went through the process quickly. He showed me everything he was doing and explained the process step by step. I was well informed on how the system was working and that everything on the system was up to date and good.
It was a pleasant experience dealing with Fire & Ice through American Home Shield. But they could improve on their list of companies because I would not ever want to work with Meyers.
I would recommend AHS to my friends. It’s reasonably priced for the monthly payment. The online tools are easy to use and I also like the email alerts on different things that are available at a discounted price. Within the coming year, I may wind up adding some new things to my coverage since we’ve just bought new appliances for the kitchen.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with us. If you have any further needs or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I have a refrigerator which is working fine but it isn’t making ice. We called to have the icemaker fixed. The first contractor did something and then a couple of days later, the fridge stopped working.
Since then, we’ve been getting different contractors but it has not been fixed. I call the contractor to tell them it’s still not working and AHS will contact them or another contractor. They come in, open it up, change the parts and then they go. They tell us to cool it off for 24 hours, and then 24 hours later, nothing happens. We get the same problem.
We’re getting to a point where we’re ready to get a new fridge. We’ve had four different contractors come and this has been going on for almost three months. I stopped counting. It’s ridiculous and I’m extremely dissatisfied.
The reps do a good job but they should improve the ability to access someone that’s a supervisor or a manager. It’s always the same service rep. I ask to be escalated but no one calls me. I call again and I never get through a manager or supervisor.
I’m truly sorry to hear about the issues you've been facing—this certainly doesn't sound like the resolution anyone would hope for. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention and want to ensure we resolve this to your satisfaction. We look forward to making things right.

I’m upset about my AC claim. The tech that came out said it needed a total overhaul of two fans. Then to fill the Freon up, it was gonna be on my charge, not AHS, for $1,500 or $2,000. That’s ridiculous. I can have a whole unit put in for what this guy was charging on top of that.
AHS ended up sending me the $600 and I got the parts ordered. I’ve got a guy that’s gonna try to fix it. But I put that on hold because I thought I was gonna buy a new unit from the open door. That didn’t go through so that just saved me $7,000. So I’m back on track and I still don’t have an air conditioning.
When I first moved, I had the Home Shield and it was great. They repaired my AC then. It was a bad fan but it didn’t cost much and they paid for it. He really went through that for me and I liked that. But the last contractor was awful and he was all money-oriented. He was fixing something that either, if it was as bad as he says, should have been replaced, or it wasn’t as bad as it is.
I hope they will have more contractors so there would be more of a bidding on it. That’s a high-dollar type transfer for all of us and it wouldn’t take long to get an okay on the construction or the job. Also, the customer service has been a little difficult. It’s hard to find a straight number to the area out here and get it going. It’s groomed more to doing it online but I’m not an online person. Whenever I have issues, I like to call it in which is easy.
Other than that, my experience with AHS has been good and I’ve recommended them to my friends. I told them they need to get it if and when any of their appliances get to the age that they don’t have coverage on it.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your detailed experiences with American Home Shield. We're pleased to learn that you have had positive outcomes with our services over the years. However, we are genuinely sorry to hear about your recent challenges with the cost of the AC unit repairs and difficulties in needing a clearer customer service experience, as these issues don't reflect our standard of service. We value your feedback and we'll be evaluating these areas for improvement to ensure more consistent, efficient solutions moving forward.
Thank you for your continuous commitment and understanding. Your optimism regarding future claim outcomes fuels our drive to further excel in providing top-tier support. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other concerns or need further assistance.

Cascade Plumbing came out because of a leak that my mom is experiencing in their residence. A tech went and said that he would have to go through the drywall. I know there are some things that American Home Shield cover and some things that they don’t. We have Platinum protection but they basically rejected the entire claim and they didn’t cover anything. They also took the deductible. It was stupid.
We also had another issue with the plumbing at our house. There was a leak to a pipette outside. They also denied that saying that they couldn’t fix it because it was outside of the home. However, on their actual contract, it says anything attached to the home. It’s not like it was running on a pipe off the street. It was attached to the structure of the home.
Most things are getting denied for the last year and a half. It’s like you’re throwing money away. I have three homes that are covered and that runs into about $400 a month. Also, the techs are a hit-or-miss. Sometimes they’re professional, sometimes they’re not. I’m not super happy with AHS and I have been shopping around.
Shrikha, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience didn’t meet your expectations. We are unable to cover your request at this time as the contractor has advised there is an access issue that is preventing them from diagnosing the issue. Access is not covered per section 7D of the warranty, our apologies. You do have roof leak coverage and are able to set up a service request for any roof leak concern, the original requested was arranged as a plumbing request which is why the contractor could not complete the job at the time, we apologize for any miscommunication. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing AHS!

AHS customer service is good but they need to deal with the people that they contract with. I’ve been dealing with my dishwasher being broken. For the first claim, I was misdiagnosed. The tech ordered a part and then it took two weeks to get it. When it arrived, he comes in and put the parts in. But then, it still doesn’t work and I’m still waiting. They were supposed to come out today and they were doing a whole panel on it. But if it’s not fixed today, we’re gonna figure something out because it’s already been a month and a half without the dishwasher.
I was almost ready to cancel and find something else. I already paid 125 and I’ve been paying at least that amount every month for 15 years. Either somebody will fix my dishwasher or I will go buy another one. Also, when I call, I don’t know if it’s a service center that’s in a different country and I can’t really understand what’s going on. Then finally, I was able to talk to the manager and they were able to help.
Tina, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience didn’t meet your expectations. As a token of our apology, we would like to offer you a refund of your service fee for the delay, this will process in 7-10 business days. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future. Please let us know if you need any further assistance. Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing AHS!

I've had AHS for 10 years. I set up the request online and it works fine for us. They just come and do the service call. Their customer service responds positively, but their rates always go up due to inflation.
Thank you for choosing us! We truly value your feedback and appreciate your business. We're glad to hear you've been satisfied with our service. If there's anything else we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I had American Home Shield for 20 years in a previous home for and two and a half years in my current home. My recent claim for a dryer that was struggling. I had to call in for the claim because their online service has been down for weeks, but the customer service rep was very good and the technician that was sent was great. We had the dryer vent cleaned out and that took care of the issue.

I've been with American Home Shield for five years. The customer service has been really great. Every time I've called, the response has been quick and I'm happy with it. They also ask you on the phone if there's other appliances that need to get done so you can get more than one claim.
My most recent claim was on my refrigerator and it was excellent and very fast. The technician who came out to fix it knew what he was doing. If we needed to order parts, it didn't take very long to get them.
Chuck, on behalf of American Home Shield, I would like to thank you for using us to protect and service your home. Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and please feel free to reach out to us again when you need us!

I had American Home Shield for two years, but I am no longer with them. I do not believe the company works in good faith. During my last experience when I filed a claim for my garage door, the personnel were polite. But everything else fell apart. I did not have a competent company to do the job and the resolution of the conflict was not good either. As a result of my experiences dealing with the company, I decided that it would be better if I discontinued working with them.
John, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the customer service, but we’re sorry to learn that the overall experience didn’t meet your expectations. American Home Shield has been my backup. Being retired and an older woman, it has helped me maintain my home and keep it functioning properly. That's priceless for an older person.
I had a claim where the AC was making a ton of noise, and it wasn't cooling very well. He came out, replaced the capacitor on it, tightened it down and said it should be running better. It didn’t, so I called and had them come out again because American Home Shield said I needed to have them come back a second time. They came back out and said there's nothing more they could do with it and it needed to be replaced. So, I like that I don't have to come up with thousands of dollars if something breaks. I have the security of knowing that it's covered, and I’m not wasting my money spending my premium every single month because it’s being utilized the way I want it to be utilized.

As landlords, we got American Home Shield just so that we wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with what needs to be done on our rental property. Our tenant called to say that the AC wasn’t working. I sent a claim in to American Home Shield, and it was a bad experience for all of us because they didn’t fix the issue. There was even one time they came by but didn’t even get out of the truck and then later reported that the repair was completed. We ended up having to get someone else to do the repair. We’ve had four homes with them, and they’ve been taking care of our appliance issues, so we’ve had no complaints there. But we do have complaints about their vendors because they contract people with very low ratings, and it just gets exhausting.
Mary, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience didn’t meet your expectations. We strive to provide excellent service and are disheartened to hear that your experience was less than satisfactory. Your service fee has been refunded for this request. We hope you’ll call on us again and give us a chance to provide you with a better experience.
