Our AC had a faulty sensor on the outside that wasn’t telling the compressor to flip over. Submitting a claim with AHS is usually pretty easy. Then the company was scheduled and came out the next day. It's pretty quick. Now the AC is working and it’s a Texas summer. So, we’re doing all right. Every time AHS has someone come out, things have gotten fixed. Every now and then they have to order a part but that’s nature of the beast.

We've been a long time customer for years now and when I had issues with appliances, they were taken care of to my satisfaction. We have a residential as well as a rental home under American Home Shield. Recently, the dishwasher in our rental home was serviced. My husband was there and he told me that he was very pleased with the technician, the service provided, and the outcome.

My washer was leaking water out underneath it. I submitted a claim online with AHS on a weekend and the techs from Sears came out on Tuesday. They were excellent and they repaired it on the same day. And it works great now. So far, I've only used AHS twice and they they've been very timely in both instances.

Our garbage disposal was leaking. The contractor came out Saturday, then looked at it, saw the hole in it, and then said he’d be back Monday. They did a nice job. They were personable. But, they didn’t have any coverings on their shoes. No masks and gloves too. I just sprayed each time. But as far as getting the job done in a timely manner, they did fine. I was satisfied.

I've been with Home Shield for 20 something years. We were with them in the Dallas area. And then when we came down here in Houston, I put it on this house. We've only had them once or twice here in four years. I had some trouble in Dallas. Home Shield sent me an appliance person and he was dirty, pants falling down, and I reported him. But these two from Astro Appliance that came the other day were very good. They were fast, quiet, and clean. They came in here with a mask and they had something that covered their shoes, too. They knew what the problem was, left, came back in about three days after they ordered the part, put the new dials in for me, and were gone in 10 minutes. I would have them again.
I would love for Home Shield to cover more things for less money. They're known for taking away covered items. When we dealt with a Realtor in the Dallas area, he wasn't pleased with them. He tried to sell us on another company. But other than that, I recommend Home Shield. My daughter has it. I just talked to her and she just had the air conditioning man in her house. And then she had a refrigerator repair person about a week or two ago. She's pleased with them too.

AHS's contractors came for my heating claim. However, it took a while to get the job done because the first outfit that came couldn't do the service needed as they didn't do American Standard. When the other contractor got to my location, there was a little back and forth because the computer had to be programmed. Still, the job got done and the people who did it were very knowledgeable, friendly and businesslike. I've had AHS since the 2000's and I've gotten some major jobs done. With the costly ones, I'm glad to have American Home Shield.

I was very happy with AHS. I had a call for my dishwasher and another for a faucet leak, but neither one was covered for some reason. Then I made another appointment because I had a problem with a faucet in my shower. The guy that came out to check the dishwasher said that he couldn’t do another call because I hadn’t requested two products to be looked at. He looked at the issue but said that he couldn't fix it unless I made another appointment. I did and asked for the same guy. He came and fixed it in around 15 minutes. I had to spend $75 for the first two calls, and 50 for the third. However, when I called and explained what happened, AHS said they would give me a $50 credit on the third call.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

There was a smell in our home and we thought our sewage ejector pump in our basement wasn't working. So, we got a bit worried. We submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent out The Service People. However, the smell wasn't there anymore by the time their tech got to our location. Still, the guy was great. He was wearing a mask and gloves and immediately went to work. He was efficient. The smell hasn't come back.

American Home Shield is very quick and efficient in getting a service repair tech to my home to take care of the problem. I called and I immediately got a service contractor with the work order, and I was able to get somebody. Both times, it was taken care of and I’m happy so far. I used to have them way back when then I was with another company for quite a while. I got very turned off by the way the other company started sending unprofessional people to my home and the way they were doing business, so I went back to American Home Shield.
On my second service call, AHS had Pacific Control come out and they gave me two options. They could replace the item or they could seal the unit and fill it with Freon. That would have been still about $900 out of pocket because the warranty only allows $10 per pound. It’d be kicking the can down the road too, because later on, I'm going to need to do it again. I went with the replacement and I was given a good deal. The company itself did a good job. The guy who came in and diagnosed the problem was professional about it and now, I have air.

We've been with Home Shield for several years and they've always lived up to the way they advertised. When I talk to anybody and they say they got a problem with this or that, I ask them if they got American Home Shield. When they ask what AHS does, I tell them they fix the issue and that if they can't, they're gonna replace it. I'm very apprehensive when it comes to anything like that, but I'm very satisfied with the service.
We had an issue with our dishwasher which was leaking. We had some work done on our floor and the guys who worked on it had to move the dishwasher. It's possible that there was a loose connection. When they took the dishwasher out and put it back in, they may have corrected the issue, unhooking and hooking the water line back up.
But the refrigerator was a different story. We have the Whirlpool Side-By-Side. The refrigerator door itself had broke and AHS had to replace it. We've got it ordered and we're just waiting for J.B. Hunt to bring the new refrigerator to replace the one we got. Also, a few years back, we had Fix My Appliance come out with an issue and they were very professional. They came in, assessed the problem and fixed it. I am very pleased with their work.

My recent claim regarding an issue with my toilet's tanks that I filed with American Home Shield went very well. But then, the company, that was supposed to come out, United Air Temp, did not contact us within 24 hours. While it wasn't an emergency, there was a delay and their call could have been a little quicker. Still, I requested that their techs wear masks and they did that. They also showed up with gloves. They were very efficient. The techs troubleshot the problem and did a little extra when I told them something about my pressure. That time, they also checked my pressure valve.
I had a different home warranty before and there was time when there were issues with the water filter, refrigerator and microwave at my rental. Instead of the servicing being a one-and-done, my renters were still reporting that something was wrong with the microwave, water filter and refrigerator. Those techs were giving Band-Aids instead of getting to the root of the problem. Since we switched to AHS, this claim for the toilet tanks has only been our second call. Plus we haven't had to recall for the same issue. I was ready to cancel my home warranty program with AHS, and then I utilized it recently. I will stay even though my monthly fee is going up by $5 and just tap into more of the services that they have.

We just moved from Maryland to Florida on April 13 and we're the third owner of the house we're in. When we made a claim with AHS for an issue, it was really pretty easy. Kevin from Air Conditioning & Heating Wizards came out and he was really excellent. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. Unfortunately, we are having a problem with is the fact that what we have our thermostat set at, our house goes three degrees higher sometimes. The people who owned the house before us ran the duct work out to the garage. They closed off half of the garage and made an additional room.
My husband is gonna go into the attic and he’s gonna cut those vents off completely because that’s the problem. We’re in Florida and you don’t need to air condition your garage. We have a plan and that was Kevin’s recommendation. He told us what we needed to do so we highly recommend Air Conditioning & Heating Wizards. We like him and he’s a wonderful young man. If we need to, we’ll use them again for sure.

I had a stopped up fitter pipe going into the septic tank and it impacted all our toilets. I called American Home Shield and the contractor came out. He took a couple of minutes underneath the crawlspace to take a look and he saw where the pipes were running. He dug up access to the septic tank, found the problem and got it squared away in about 20 minutes. It was incredible. The contractor was a little slow at first but once they understood the situation, where none of the toilets were working and it's kind of a bad deal, especially on a weekend, I started getting some updates.
The plumber had another big job and that didn't go so well but they kept me informed that he hadn't forgotten us. By then, the sun had gone down, it was dark and he showed up. Since then, I have had no issues at all. American Home Shield had me covered under one company for a heating air conditioning issue during winter time and I was very dissatisfied with those folks. It was a real struggle but this time, the folks who came out did a good job. They understood the settings on the electronic board and they got me squared away.

I worked with a couple of companies but American Home Shield is very good. They're very straightforward. If it is covered, it will be covered. If it is not, it won't be. Sometimes though, the city code won’t cover the repair. It happened to me couple of times and I ended up paying $700. If they can reduce the cost of that covering the code, it would be good but otherwise, I’m fine with AHS. I worked with a couple of warranty companies and I was not happy. I heard there are some other good companies out there as well but I want to stay with AHS because I didn’t see much problems with them. I logged the ticket with them on my heating issue. They sent out a technician from A/C Rescue, who came in and found a faulty circuit board. They replaced that board with a new one, and after that, it started working.

My claim went perfectly after a very, very rocky start. The first two people they sent were absolutely worthless. Integrity was bad. Florida Air used to be Tommy’s Air Conditioning who did the original installation of my air conditioner. The kid came out and said, “I don’t know. Why don’t you just have your maintenance man put a duct tape around it?” And then they told me I needed an electrical company. So I called American Shield and told them we need an electrician. I went off on them because I was so disgusted.
Finally, an electrician came out and he put a sticker on my electrical box. He was excellent. He saw the problem. He said he needed the part and he would be right back. He came back and replaced the part. He showed me the damaged part. He told me that out of all the warranty companies that he deals with, I did choose the best warranty company. My issue was resolved with no out of pocket cost to me. I told them that I was not paying extra and that they should've sent a reliable person in the first place. During this claim, I talked to somebody who was in the Philippines and I’m not really good with third-party people. If I have a warranty or if I have a vendor, I wanna talk to somebody here in the United States. But in the end, everything turned out okay. I was happy about my claim.

American Home Shield sent JR’s for an old dishwasher, and the controls broke so that it wouldn’t stop running in the wash mode. It just kept going and going and we’d shut it off and try everything. Every time we’d turn it on, it’d just wash and wash. The tech from JR was a really excellent guy. He looked at it and it didn't take him long. He took it apart and he said, “Look, you got a handful of pieces. Parts are not available for this 'cause it’s an old machine.” It’s 21 years old. He said, “I’ll turn it over to the company and they will get back to you. They’ll probably replace it.” He was super decent to work with.
We did hear back from the company and they said they would replace it. They'd give us x dollars to replace it. They recommended a machine that they'd just put it in and done deal, but they couldn't get it in black and everything else in the kitchen is black. So, we said, “We don’t want a white or a stainless steel dishwasher when everything else is black. All the other appliances are black.” So, we bought it and submitted the invoice, which that was one of our choices. We did that and we paid the extra for what they gave us for it and had it delivered and installed and the old one taken out. They sent us a check, so everybody’s happy. I filled a lot of stuff out for them, and I would definitely recommend them and I have.

I turned the AC on and it was all working. But I told my husband I had messed around with the thermostat and I can’t get it to go back to where it would be cold. He told me to just get it service and they would show me. I called someone to do the yearly service on my own because I know American Home Shield doesn’t do that. The guy came out and he said he thought the AC unit needed Freon. He put four and a half pounds of Freon in it, and from $80, the cost went to $320. Then he said I might have a leak. I told him he wasn’t fixing that leak and that I would go ahead and call American Home Shield. He said I should and they have to trace it.
I called American Home Shield and they said they don’t do reimbursement stuff. I wasn’t very happy with that. They said they would send someone else out and I asked if they thought there might be something wrong, like a leak, but she said she doesn’t know. When the Plumbers company called me, I asked if it was possible to have a Freon leak every now and then. I added this is not an old unit. It’s a newer unit. The guy said no but when the guy came out here, he said this is normal. He said air conditioners have these leaks all the time and not to worry. He said he didn’t know why it mattered. I told him that before he came out, I had asked on the phone. He said that there was nothing wrong with the unit and that was all he did. He just told me and left. And that cost me another $100 through American Home Shield. So there was $400 I paid to put Freon in.

My recent claim for a plumbing issue that I submitted to American Shield went better than I've ever had a claim with them go. I could not believe that this is the first time in all the years I've had American Home Shield that I got approval while I was still calling in the claim. Initially, I could not put in my claim online as their system told me that my policy had been canceled. I assumed that it was my old policy that was canceled as I now have an increased monthly payment. However, I could not access my new policy online.
I called the issue in and it didn't take AHS's reps forever to answer the call. While I was still on the phone, they already gave approval and an assignment. I didn't have to wait at least three days. Here, if I go a week and a half living in a house that I'm trying to heat in the middle of winter with two space heaters I have to move them from room to room as I go around. I can't carry one of those space heaters up the stairs too. So, if I would go up to work in my office, I would have to work out. If there was another alternative warranty provider to get better pricing and somebody who would do the job right the first time, I would have left AHS long ago. They charge exorbitant prices if their contractors come at all and they do a job that requires me to get them back and back again.
I had an issue with the previous person who did work at my house. He started out conscientious but by the end, I didn't know what was going on with him. He had a personal issue that was developing. He would call back several times to fix the leak in my water heater which was rusting where it was wet. That was the same water heater that would eventually be replaced by the contractor they sent for my most recent claim.
Still, I was quite impressed with the process of American Home Shield in this case. The company they assigned, Mackinac Plumbing & Heating was right on the ball to get my problem fixed. Because of the virus situation, I told their clerk that I had Cloroxed the front door handle and the door so that if they happen to touch those they would be safe. I went upstairs so that I wouldn't be anywhere near them. Still, I thought that I was gonna have somebody traipsing up and down the steps in the middle of the virus thing. But then, the tech didn't even have to do that. He was so good, he just diagnosed the problem, fixed it and yelled up the stairs to say that he was done.
That contractor has done other work for me in the past and has shown themselves to be very professional and caring about the fact that loss of heat in November in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan mattered to a customer. I was without heat while the process of submitting the claim and getting it approved was taking place but they bent over backward to see that the job was done and I was properly cared for.
With AHS, getting through to them to place a work order is sometimes an hour wait or even longer. It's a grueling thing along with waiting days for the approval of our claim and more days for somebody to come. There was nobody in our area until Mackinac Plumbing agreed to work with AHS. Plus when I hire a service person, I should be able to count on them to do a good job and come back urgently if something didn't go right. I shouldn't have to wait five days for them to come back.

My dishwasher stopped working one time and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Usually, I pay the $75 deductible there and a company will call to set up a day or time to see what's going on. If that company can fix the issue on the spot, they normally do that. For this claim though, AHS sent F.N.A Appliance and they had to order a control panel board for my dishwasher. They came back five days later and fixed it. Since then, everything has been good. A lot of things go wrong and an AHS warranty comes in handy when I have limited funds and something major breaks down. My furnace went out a couple of years ago and the warranty helped out a lot.

We had a claim for a stove. When you open up the door, there’s a double-pane glass on it. The inside glass was cracked, and the outside glass was still intact. The tech came out here one day, and everything was clean. He let us know when he called and said, “I’m not gonna have the parts. I’m gonna have to come out there and see what’s wrong." He'd be ordering the part and coming back. But he already let us know upfront he was gonna have to come out here more than once. Everything has been fine since they’ve been out. The oven door looks brand-new now.
When we first got American Home Shield, there was a number. You actually called and talked to a real person. At some point, American Home Shield went away from that. Now, you just do the online thing. Initially transitioning from talking to a person to going to the online thing, I kinda felt like the service was less then. But now that we’ve used the online tool and put the stuff in, everything went super-smooth and as planned. We don't have any issues with it at all. My wife says it’s easier. It was just us getting used to transitioning from calling the number and talking to a person to get what you need done, to going completely online.

When I was originally shopping, some of the coverages were a little sketchy on other providers. American Home Shield came across that it was kind of like a "no questions asked" type of thing. If there’s a problem, they’re going to fix it. When we have been having issues with our washer for a few months like compulsive shaking and vibrating, AHS sent someone out to take a look. The techs from Whirlpool ordered a part for it and replaced it, but it just continued. Eventually the washer was deemed unfixable then I have a new washer within a week. There were no out-of-pocket costs. It was great.

It took the appliance repair place from Thursday to Tuesday to come out, which wasn't a big deal because I had already done my laundry. But that could be an issue for some people if it was an emergency thing they needed. I could've called in and asked for somebody else, but I didn't expect it to take quite that long, but it worked out okay. The contractor was very efficient and business-like. He came in, did the repair, and was gone.

I wasn't happy with the first contractor sent out for my sink. I called Home Shield back to complain about the first contractor that they sent me. I told them the contractor was incompetent to me. He came and asked me if I was septic or city, which he should've known. He kept walking around the house and kept on making phone calls. He seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. But he fixed the toilet. He told me that I had corrosion or something, which I could've, but I told him I just had my toilet for like a year. He unclogged it because it was slow. It was going down with little pressure. Then about an hour later, it started leaking off from the bottom. So, I had to get someone else to come out and fix the toilet.
I told them I didn't trust their opinion because about five years ago this happened, my sink was clogged and I was telling them what they did. He didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He said they had to go through the roof. I didn't get anything to tell me what I was covered for or what I wasn't covered for. I didn't know I took the ultimate packet. They told me that I wasn't covered for them to go on the roof. I told them they never went up on my roof and unclogged the sink. That was all under the house. They never went through my sink in my house.
I asked if I can have someone else because I didn't feel confident with this person and they seemed like they couldn't understand that. I had to ask to speak to someone else and I talked to a woman named Chris. She was very understanding and she helped me. Home Shield sent Bath Plumbing out. The tech was able to snake it and get my sink somewhat unclogged. He said he had to come back and he will put in a request. I've been waiting since the 28th. I called yesterday and he said he saw something in there for them to come back. I've been waiting for almost two weeks for them to clear my sink. But Bath was very good.

There was an AC issue and the experience was good. The guy who went out did not find anything and I knew that there was nothing there. The tenants' system froze over after he had gone but I told them I felt that he actually checked everything really well. I asked if they had anything in front of the intake vent because that would make the system freeze up. They said they didn't and it turned out that the second guy who went out found a really dirty filter. That was what did it. So the first guy did do a good job.
However, I don’t like the system that’s in place whenever I call for a service. That's the thing that bothers me the most. It’s like this whole roundabout thing. Let's say I have an issue in my house and I call. American Home Shield says they have 48 hours to get back to me. Then the AC company, for instance, has another amount of time to get back in touch with me. There are too many middlemen and there’s too much time in between the call and when you can actually get someone out. My experience with their contractors is 50-50 as well. I’ve had a great company come out before but then I’ve had somebody come out that shouldn’t have been on Home Shield’s list. But overall, the warranty is a great idea and they've been a good company.

We called the service line for Home Shield and told them the drain was leaking on the bottom of the tub. They Gmailed me back and said somebody will be in contact. It was like 8:30 in the morning and by lunchtime, someone from Grade A contacted me and told me that someone would be out between 3:00 and 7:00 to look at it. They got here at about quarter to 7:00 and they fixed everything and made sure there were no leaks. They replaced everything that needed to be replaced. It was good that it got fixed the same day we called. Home Shield is worth the coverage, if you get everything covered for the amount of money. If I were to sell my house, I would offer to pay the warranty for one year to cover everything because it’s worth it.

We bought our new refrigerator at the beginning of March and the icebox on the bottom where it crushes the ice was freezing underneath the tray. The Taylor Made Appliance technician came in. He was covered up--gloves on, booties on, mask on. My daughter has asthma, so I was very appreciative of that. He did his job and explained what he was doing. He pulled the fridge apart and figured out that the tray gathering water underneath is frozen. Also I couldn’t open up the ice container. It was having a hard time going through the front door. He cleared it out with something that looks like a little steam vacuum. He said that the brand has a tendency to freeze.
AHS is good but sometimes I can’t understand the person on the other end of the line because of their accent and they don’t understand me either. I talk very quickly. I tell them that I need to talk to somebody who understands what I’m saying because I know that some of their people aren’t local. The online is a lot better. But I was very appreciative of the lady.
Previously we had a fridge that was 13 months old. Warranties stop at 12 months from the manufacturer. At 13 months, the compressor went out the first time. Home Shield came out and fixed it. A month later, it went out a second time. The third time the compressor was leaking Freon. The smell of Freon is disgusting. They couldn’t come out for two weeks, so we had to unplug the refrigerator. We used our garage fridge at that time and the repair was covered.
Another time, the sewer’s line backed up into our house and was falling out of my downstairs toilet and all over my kitchen floor. I called and made a claim I said I can wait 24 hours as it was flooding into my house. They called the company and the company called me, and they squeezed me in between two jobs, which was very nice. It wasn’t that long of a wait, which was wonderful.

To me, the AHS website was very simple. I submitted a claim on a Saturday night and they told me that I’d be hearing from a contractor on Monday, and I did. The contractor was very communicative. He let me know when he was in the area, gave me a good estimate on when he’d be here and he was here at that time. He also let me know that the service rendered was guaranteed or under warranty for 30 days from the fact. If anything were to happen, I could call Direct Connection directly again or I could call AHS and AHS would send them back out. When he arrived, he checked under the sink and replaced a kind of gasket on the hose. That seemed to have solved the leak problem.

In the beginning, W&W was fine. But in the end, I felt they left me high and dry and it was just a big mess. They left the house filled with soot and didn't clean up. I would never use them again. I've asked them to be on the list that they never come back to my house. The guy was professional and pretty thorough. But he said he wasn't familiar with my appliance. That was the reason why he said that he gotta pass it off to somebody else and that he did everything he could do. I was very disappointed with his 180. Why was he even working on it to begin with?
I had to have American Home Shield come out and have a second opinion. The guy from Sears came out and said that the first guy contaminated the system, so they would have to replace it. At this point, it's been approved. The rep said that American Home Shield does not have access to Samsung products so if I want the same or similar refrigerator, then I'll just have to go out and buy it and get reimbursed. It took so long to get the refrigerator fixed. It initially started acting up on December 5th. When dealing with the other warranty company, I know things had to go through a process, but it seemed like the process was way too long. However, my claim on my AC went well. I was a little surprised that I was responsible for much of the Freon charge. But it was clearly spelled out and they sent an email beforehand saying that American Home Shield pays $10 for Freon so I was responsible for $90 on that service fee.

It depends on when the tech is available that they call, but they’re pretty responsive all in all. If there was anything that they need to improve, it's waiting 30 minutes for a call to be answered for customer service. I'm a realtor and I have sold a lot of American Home Shield products. However, in the last couple of years, the vendors that AHS has been dealing with take their sweet time to reach out to the customer and schedule an appointment. I have a property in New Jersey and in Florida and I have an AHS policy for both of them. For claims, Home Shield gives me the opportunity to call a contractor to schedule an appointment. I normally initiate the call for the contractor to put me on schedule as they don't normally call within their 24-hour window.
Recently, I filed a request for electrical and a motor pump. The motor was replaced but then the person from ABNation who was out for the motor said that it looked like the electrical box that's connected to the pool was shot. He said he didn't do that type of work though and so the claim was outsourced to another company, R & R Electrical Allstar. That company came on a Friday and said that they had to file a report, submit it to American Home Shield and they would be contacting me the following Monday or Tuesday. I reached out to them on that Monday and I got a lengthy voice message. I could never get a human person on the phone.
I contacted AHS and spoke to a gentleman named Ben. He tried reaching out to the contractor as well and there was never anybody that physically answers the phone at R&R Electric. Ben said that he was gonna be sending out an email as well to receive the report. Now, I have my family in Florida idling to see what's gonna happen. It's crazy that we have to chase down the vendor.

I had done was I had semi-annual inspections on my AC by Strand AC, and they gave me a list of things that totaled about $3000 of work that needs to be done on my AC. I contacted American Home Shield, and their representatives came out. The AC is not working to capacity because it’s 10 years old. But it hasn’t failed. So, I was satisfied with what they told me that there was nothing that had to be done immediately. If something was wrong, then they would handle it. I showed them the list that I got from Strand. I was satisfied, at least, that I wasn’t in any imminent danger. That was comforting. And I trust that their representatives are being accurate.
I've had a coverage with American Home Shield close to 10 years, but I have never used them. I have an in-ground pool and things went wrong like a pump had to be replaced. When I contacted American Home Shield, they couldn’t get out to help me for days. You can’t let a pool go with the pump not working for days. So, I had to contact other people. I have a regular service crew that comes in. And if repairs need to be made, they’ll make them for me. Other than that, I had something happen to my dryer. I had to have somebody come out and do that.
American Home Shield is good to have in case of an emergency or for somebody who needs repairs. I’m holding on to it because I’m afraid that I’m gonna need it at some point. I did cancel it maybe eight years ago for a period of time. And then, I really had to go back to it because I had a friend who’s got a much older house and she used it for her air conditioning many times. So, I felt I really needed to have it.

AHS works fine for general maintenance, but will do nothing to fix issues when they come up. I've been without a working AC for over a week and will apparently have to wait another full week before someone can come install the replacement compressor. The first one that was ordered was out of stock, so the AC repair shop had to order another one. AHS just needed to approve the new model, but instead let it sit for 5 days until I called, and got told to keep waiting by their customer service rep. It wasn't until I kept pushing that I was transferred to their "Escalations" Department who within 3 minutes called someone and had them push a button to approve the new compressor. Once that was finally done, I found it out it would be another week before the repair shop could come back out to install the part.
I called customer service again to see if we could find someone else with earlier availability and was told they don't even have a list of AC repair companies that they work with. They did nothing but say "Sorry, there's nothing we can do". I've spent over 2 hours on the phone with AHS over the past week and don't think I've ever been more frustrated with the lack of customer service they've shown.

When I used AHS before for something major like the air unit, I had to keep calling. I had to call corporate and they just kept wanting me to spend money with the Freon instead of replacing it. They knew it needed to be replaced. Plus, our monthly fee has gone up again so the price keeps increasing. Then recently, I put in a service request for my microwave. The tech took the microwave apart and he showed the pieces that needed to go in and how. He came to the house to assess the issue and ordered the part. But it took too long for the parts to come and the completion of the repair took three weeks. Other than that, the tech is efficient when he gets here. He's been here before for my washing machine and he's been good.

I’ve been filing claims through the website. It seems easier and quicker because as soon as I submit, we get somebody assigned within minutes, which is really neat. We had to replace our refrigerator a few months back. The kid that came out, CJ, was superb and the company itself is really good from their reputation locally. CJ came out and did my refrigerator. And now, the dryer. We took the replacement option and we got a new one. I hope I get them every time. Home Shield is worth having and I love them.

I like American Home Shield very much. I don’t have to use them that often, thankfully, but it’s nice. I pay for the monthly fee for a reason. When stuff unexpectedly happens, I can tell them to have their contractor come on out. I also find filing claims easy to do. I just do it online, hit the submit button, and it is done. When my garbage disposal had been leaking water, I submitted the claim on a Sunday so I didn’t receive the schedule request until business hours on Monday. They open at 8:00 and I received it at 8:17.
We scheduled it for that Tuesday between 8:00 and 1:00. It was less than 48 business hours from the time I submitted the claim to someone coming out. The work was great. The guy that came out was really nice. The contractor who contacted me sent me an email to let me know the name of the contractor who was coming out to my house and they had a picture in the email so that way I knew exactly who was coming, what they look like. I liked that feature. They gave me a call when he was on his way. He was here for less than an hour from the time of his arrival, showing him everything that happened and him replacing the entire garbage disposal unit and completing the paperwork. There’s been absolutely no problem since it was replaced last Tuesday.

I used to have Fidelity and I was not happy with them. AHS has also made me mad a few times before. I just can never get ahold of them and I have been on hold for an hour more than once. It's very frustrating. But right now, it looks like they're getting better. I file my claims online all the time and it's pretty easy. Usually, it sends me a text alert or an email telling me who's assigned and how long it'll take for them to get ahold of me. It's instant. Recently, the door of my front load washer leaked. They sent Sears and they were good. I've had them at my house because they've fixed so many different products so I know what to expect from them. But this particular technician who came was really good and very professional.

We just renewed with AHS. Submitting claims with them is pretty easy. You just either call or go on the portal. However, I like calling because sometimes, it's not as straight forward in the portal. Calling somebody allows you to clarify which category the claim should fall under. Their customer service and contractors have both been great to work with. When our dryer was creating stains on our clothes, we weren’t really sure why. The contractor checked it out and replaced it. They did a great job. We also had a sink issue a few months before that. It was addressed and taken care of quickly.

I had made a claim several years on my air conditioning unit that's underneath the house. Whoever put the thing in ran the drain line through the foundation wall and it came out in the dirt. You have to dig it up to find it. I asked the guy if it was the way it was supposed to be 'cause I know you can sit there and watch it drip. He said it wouldn't hurt it. I asked, “Well, you don't think you need to dig it up?” And he said it was not his thing. I thought it was strange because he was supposed to be fixing it. Albeit there really wasn't anything wrong with it, other than he put an elbow into the pipeline. It was interesting but I thought it was good. Some of these guys don't like to spend a whole lot of time with you. They wanna get in and get out. But in that particular case, this guy was a little different.
Then I had another claim for my hot water heater which was leaking. The guy came out and said he couldn't fix it because the water pressure coming into the house was higher than it was recommended for the water heater. He said I had to get it fixed first before they could fix the water heater. I thought it was interesting that they didn't wanna take the time to try to fix that. I'm sure there are a lot of limits that the warranty office is not gonna do. But if I got a guy out here and he finds another problem that he can't work on the thing that he came out for, it seems like he'd wanna fix it. For our recent claim with Home Shield, it was for an appliance and the service went fine.

Their website is a little tougher for me than it would be for somebody who is tech savvy, but I got through -- I'm in my 60s. The eyes of my oven weren’t heating up to proper temperatures, and the oven was not baking all the way through. I put buns in there, and half of it would get cooked and half of it would not. The contractor from Carolina Appliance had come out about three different times for us already, and the most recent one was for this issue. He was cool, and I love him. I was going to call American Home Shield back, however, because one of the eyes in the back is not heating up. When you put it on high, it is on low. Then, we turned it to the opposite side, thinking it was backwards, but it still does not heat up to high.

The claim for the garbage disposal was pretty good. I just went through a website. I registered and then I had to add a payment method for the one-time fee. Then American Home Shield scheduled it for me. It was a little inconvenient that the garbage disposal was what was messed up and the whole thing took two and a half days to get scheduled. But when I was prompted via email or a text that those people would contact me, it was later that day that they contacted me and then we scheduled an appointment for the next day. So I think it went as fast as they could. It was just inconvenient that I had dishes that still needed to be washed and we couldn't use that part of the sink. But the technician showed up on time. He was clean, in and out. He also gave us some good whatever and we're doing that now.

Sam’s Garage was on time and they had the repair done in 10 minutes or less. Everything went well. About four months ago though, we had an issue with the garage door, and it was the spring. We’ve always had the extended policy that covers everything, so I called for me the appointment and they said it was covered. Sam’s Garage came out that time as well and they had to call to make sure it was covered on their end, and they said it wasn’t.
I had to pay out of pocket and then I had to fight for the next few weeks back and forth. That was frustrating, but I finally got the money back for it and for the most part, American Home Shield is good. The best thing would be to address appropriately if something was covered or not. This time it was supposed to be covered then I had to go through and get a supervisor just to rectify the situation. It was really hard to get ahold of upper management.
From what I’ve heard, a lot of the home warranty companies are the same. Sometimes it can be hard to get stuff approved and they verify the book on it, but they nickel and dime a little too much at times. It was the same thing with a water heater issue we had a couple of months back. It took two weeks to get it resolved between getting the water heater company to come out, getting stuff approved, waiting on this part and waiting on that part. With us being long-time customers, the home warranty could have intervened, approved stuff a little earlier and just get the job done.

I had problems with the ducts in my attic. When I turned the heater on, it wouldn't heat the house up. I had PG&E come in and their guy said the heater I had in there was big enough to heat the whole house. He told me to have the ducts looked at. I was supposed to have someone come look at the ducts and I thought maybe I'd have to pay it out of my own pocket. But my daughter told me to check with American Shield and find out if it was covered. It was so I'm happy about that. They did a great job.
The contractor American Shield sent out came down. There was a lot of air coming out of the heater inside. The ducts were the first generation. They were made out of screen and very poorly too. The air wasn't going where it was supposed to go. It was going in the attic. That was leaking through the ducts. The contractor put in metal ducts which are the newer type. Now, it works great. I have heat all over the house. Before, wherever I sit on there, I'd be sitting with a space heater because I quit using the heater. But the contractor told me what was wrong and they did a good job. I'm happy with them.
I moved to Reno about four years ago and I had American Shield up there. I had them come down and look at the same thing. It wasn't the ducts that I had in there though. The whole thing had to be redone because of the way the house was built. It would have cost a lot more than what it was worth. I then bought this house here almost a year ago and I'm still with Home Shield. It's worth it.

Everything was good when I had my heat-AC unit replaced. Freon is still made for the older stuff, but I was told that it was more expensive than the newer stuff. It also was explained to me that if something happened with the outside unit and AHS replaced it, unless they could find a unit that had the old Freon, the entire system, including the inside units, would have to get replaced because of the new stuff they were using. But I would think something like that could probably be mitigated. AHS has helped ease my mind if anything goes wrong. I’ve had great experiences with them, but I know that it comes down to how much dollars somebody is forking out. At the end of the day, it’s some of my money, but AHS is the one flipping the bill.

The garage door is damaged. The motor works but it won’t go all the way up. When the contractor came out, they told my dad that it was bent in the center of it and that was damaged right there. That's why it won’t go up. According to them, here’s two latches on there that are not supposed to be there. They said they could fix it. The tech quoted my dad some prices and he said he didn’t think it would be covered under dad’s home warranty. So I told my dad to let them know we will call them if we decide to go with them. We will shop around first. So the garage door is still not fixed. But overall, my dad likes American Home Shield. We already recommended them to two family members.

I've had American Home Shield for eight years and everything is good. They call and they set up things right away. Something broke on the heater and the technician from Rosenthal did a good job on it. He knew exactly what it was and went right to it. He was in and out for a few minutes. With the last claim that I had, the guy said that the security could be fixed but he moved something around up there but he said that they wouldn't fix stuff outside.
I told the technician that AHS told me that they will fix the security 'cause it was coming on and off whenever it wanted to. Then the sockets that were on the inside, the electricity part of it is good but when you plug them in, they just fall out. He said that the plugs were old and that they wouldn't fix them unless it was an electrical problem. It is an electrical problem for us because we can't get electricity sometimes. and he was supposed to fix them but he didn't. He said that he was gonna call AHS and ask them 'cause he didn't think that he was supposed to fix it. That was two days ago. I haven't heard back from him.

The air wasn't blowing cool upstairs. R Harris A/C & Heating came out and we didn't want anybody in the house with the COVID stuff going on. They did everything from outside and they did a great job. Previously, we had issues with the water heater people that AHS was using. The vendor was sloppy, lazy, and did not fix the problem. Then, it created more problems down the line. But AHS resolved the issue. They listened so I appreciated that. We had to pay a decent amount of money 'cause we had to pay for multiple entries. But they, at least, noted in our account that we didn't wanna use those people in the future. I would keep their services.

My previous tenants left and the pool was green and it was clogged. I called for service in August. Roccas Pool Service came and fixed everything. They said everything works well. Now, the current tenant said the heater is not working. The pool guy was sick at the moment so they didn't know if they're doing something wrong. So I sent my pool guy and he said the pool was not working. So Roccas Pool didn't fix it or they broke it.
I requested AHS for a report to see if the contractor did fix it and if they found that everything works at the moment, then I would be out of the hook. I have to go after my tenants to buy a new heater and replace the old one. I had no tenant so nobody used it. It's my word against the previous tenant and Roccas Pool should be my backup. He put his signature that I paid him and everything was working. So he's my security. In seven business days, I will get the report.
I like that I can request service online. When I requested this time, it was over the weekend. They contacted me Monday and everything worked nice. When I like to set up an appointment, everything works perfect. But I needed proof that everything was working with the previous order. But then, if I have issues in the previous claim, it's a huge disappointment. Also, the first AHS guy I talked to was so incompetent. He told me he's gonna email me and he verified the email address two times. But I never got an email from them. I had to call again another 40 minutes waiting on line. There is an option to request a service or to inquire about a current service but there is no contact line to speak directly about a previous issue or for requesting a paperwork. I had to call and pretended to request a new service.

The dishwasher had a hole in the bottom of it and Residential Maintenance Solutions came out and replaced it. They took care of everything. The whole process took about two weeks. There were three companies involved. It was confusing. The original people had come out, evaluated it and said it couldn't be repaired. So then, they reported that back to AHS and then somebody reached out and said that they would get a replacement.
And then, I was getting phone calls from another company wanting to come out and do an evaluation. I told them I'd already had it evaluated and they were gonna repair it. And then, I had an independent company drop off a dishwasher, and then it sat for a week in my kitchen, and then another company came out and put it in. So, it was a screwed up deal. It wasn't one company taking care of the whole thing. It seemed like on this last deal, they just weren't communicating on who was gonna do what and when. There were several different companies instead of just one company taking care of it. But when I had a little pool pump issue, the contractors came out and fixed it that day.

AHS was included as part of my purchase of a vacation home and I've been really happy with it so far. Early on, I called in to have some locks changed. I wasn’t really familiar with the process and that ended up never happening. I paid the $75 but I never connected with the ultimate contractor. Once AHS figured that out, they refunded the $75. That was my fault, but they were really good to deal with even in that situation. A couple of weeks ago, a plumbing company came out to replace a water heater. Then a couple of days ago, I had another issue that came up and I did another claim. They got assigned that claim too, so I've been in touch with them again. They have been great.

My daughter’s room is the only one that just seemed to be so hot. My son’s room is next to hers but his seem to be very cool. So, when the guy came out, he said it was the way the ductwork was ran and the only way to resolve it is to either redo all the ductwork or to shut some of the other vents off to force the air to come through there, which was what he did. I had two of them in the living room that had a lot of air coming out. So, he closed one of them in the living room and it has been better. The guy put on little booties and he had his mask on the whole time. Plus, he had gloves on. He was very thorough. I submitted the claim online through an email claim to American Home Shield and it was so easy that I thought I forgot something or I have to do something but I didn't. Immediately, within 24 hours, I was contacted and the guy came in within the timeframe that I was given. It was flawless.
The second time, I decided to call because I was looking to see if it was covered. I was not gonna call if it was not covered. The toilet had been leaking a little while and my AHS warranty was about to expire. I didn't think I was gonna renew it because of financial reasons but I wanna make sure I get everything in. So, I called about the toilet and the guy was really good. He was in here and did not take any precautions at all. He took the toilet off and redid the whole seal. It was totally gone and he did that in less than 30 minutes. He was in and out of here so quickly. The only thing I was concerned with is that once he put the toilet back on, he put in new screws but he didn’t re-caulk anything. It’s finished and it’s not leaking now so that’s good, and I can always go in and caulk it. But he didn’t do the finishing work so, it wasn’t as great as an experience as the first guy.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for years but I’ve had some issues, and it seems like when it rains, it pours. It has been more frustrating in the past years. I don't use them very often but when I do, there were some issues that did come along. I paid monthly, on time, I’ve done this for years and I pay the service fee. When there’s an issue and you wanted to talk to a supervisor about anything, because the agent is not that informed, you can’t get past the first layer, and that was really frustrating. There was an instance where I was able to get past that and it worked beautifully as a result of being able to do that.
I live in an area where you know the service provider and the types of work that they do. And we’ve run upon a service provider that does not do well at all, and we’ve had recalls. I was trying to avoid a particular person that was selected as my service provider and I was stuck with that. We went through the same scenario again, and I couldn’t just get someone different because they wouldn’t allow that.
In the past, if we didn't like that service provider or had some issues with them, we could go with one of our choices. And that has been taken away. You can’t select any one that you need that’s more credible, reputable, and does quality work. But for our recent claim West-Techs did well. They were able to maintain the part that came in and repaired the unit. The timeliness was good. It only took a couple of hours even when he had a different size of the coil that he ended up not needing.

We just renewed with AHS last week and I'm kind of fighting that decision. We had three service calls in the same week and none have been resolved. We had a locksmith come out to rekey the doors, but the old keys still open the doors. We also had somebody come out for the dishwasher. I called in and tried to get a second opinion on the dishwasher but that has been more than five days ago and the dishwasher's still busted. It has been busted for almost two weeks and after two weeks, I have to place a new call. The garage is working intermittently. They should just replace the unit when it’s problematic, not just spray a little WD-40 on it. I spent a total of two hours on the phone with AHS, trying to get more people out here but it just hasn't gone well. If they really cared about service, they would take care of the issues. However, some of the people working in their call center couldn't possibly care less.

My recent American Home Shield claim was excellent but not the other times. I got another house, and the warranty says that they cover garage doors. I called and they said they don't cover that. The people who came out and checked the garage took one or two minutes to see what it needs to be done. After the tech said whatever needs to be done, he said, “Warranty doesn't cover this.” We paid just for the call $100 but it doesn't make sense. There are a few things like that garage and if it doesn't get covered, I'm wasting a lot of money. I’m not gonna need the warranty anymore.

Updated on 05/20/2020: I wrote a review about American Home Shield on the 5/06 regarding our A/C Unit. I was very dissatisfied with AHS not fixing the unit that was put in end of summer 2018. So I wrote a review. A Mr. Scott ** contacted me and was willing to solve the problem. He told me that they would fix the A/C and cover the cost. At that point, I was very satisfied. That was a Monday. Wednesday I decided to call the company, that is supposed to repair the unit and they didn’t know anything about it.
So I called AHS on hold again, got disconnected again and they didn’t know about the repair being covered either. Wanted to talk to supervisor but she was busy but would call me back in the next hour. No one returned the call. Next day called back, holding forever and she was going to connect me with a supervisor and I was on hold until I got disconnected. Oh and no one knew a Mr. **. So now it’s going to be in the 90F and no Air. It is very frustrating not to get this problem solved.
Original review: We had a new A/C unit put in, in 2018. It was covered under the warranty we have with AHS. The company they sent took 6 weeks to get it done (not good). 1/12 weeks ago the unit would not turn on. The company that came told us, that the unit was jigger-rigged and parts did not match up. The work order did not fully get approved, they said we had to pay $1375. For a unit, that we used 1 summer?? We talked (after hours of holding and hang ups) with a supervisor and no luck. Why should we pay that much for a unit that is practically new and they sent us these people?? We don’t know if they do it right, that’s why we have AHS. The temperature in this house is 86F. VERY DISSATISFIED.
We do apologize for the delay and inconvenience in this matter. We understand that the time frame of this is of the essence. My name is Robert and I will be speaking with you pertaining to this.

I got hung up on twice, once because of AHS faulty line. Rather than call me right back, I had to call in 3 times and be on hold for 45 minutes. If the call drops, call the client back, because there is a wait time of 20 minutes. Issue still not resolved. Explained I was an essential worker being taken away from my work for hour and a half. When my fan stopped working, North Coast Group Electric came out. I thought the switch was maybe blown. The fan started going crazy. But it's on a remote and that’s what they had to replace. But nothing has had to be done right away like some kind of emergency case like a broken pipe that would need to be fixed right then. I'm not sure how that one works if that happens. Aqua Clear had excellent professionalism. Their tech showed up on time and he was a good communicator. As soon as he looked at the garbage disposal, he said that it was too old. He explained that it was not fixable and there was nothing he could do about it. He was great. I don't always figure everything out and I kinda need that little guidance when it comes to things. I had a lot of questions and he was absolutely terrific and very patient.
Also, I had a faucet that broke and he looked at it. He said he could get another faucet for about $150. He offered to run out to Lowe's and get it. I explained that I was hoping to update my kitchen a little bit and offered to pick the faucet. I asked if I could pay the difference and get what I really wanted and he let me do that. That was so nice. He went way over and above with normal to make sure that I was happy. And that means that I’m happier with American Home Shield, which means they keep my business. It was probably the best experience I have had in a situation like that in years
I’m happy with AHS, although it's a lot of money every month. I love the fact that if you got three plumbing issues, you don't have to pay $75 three times. I’ve kinda been sitting on the garbage disposal, the faucet, and the hot water heater issues and it was nice to be able to knock out those three things at one time. That was really a blessing and that kind of renewed my faith or my love for American Home Shield.

Last year I tried getting ahold of American Home Shield as soon as they tried double-charging me, and I couldn't. It would be an advantage for the customer to be able to talk to somebody to get on the problem right away. Just recently I was very happy with Sub Zero Mechanical. They're very professional. I called on Friday night. They were here on Saturday to check everything out, and then they came back on Thursday and installed what was needed. They put a whole new A-frame upstairs in my attic on the furnace. Having a home warranty is pretty important unless you have a lot of money to pay for expenses. The money I paid for this last repair, it’s over $700 with the $125 for American Home Shield. That was quite a bit out of my pocket, being a retiree and on a fixed income, but we handled it.
Randy,
Thanks for letting us know how everything worked out for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. There will be times when you will have an out of pocket expense and there will be times when you will pay nothing but the service fee. I am glad that you were able to get the repair done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I had a leak in my toilet. I filed a claim and the contractor came fairly quickly. He was really good, very thorough and knowledgeable. I enjoyed him. Things have been going good since and I'm not seeing any issues. I'm happy and satisfied with AHS.

I had a leak in my master bedroom closet. The guys came out and did a bisection of the area but they did it neatly. They're probably one of the best plumbing teams that ever came my house before. If I could give them 20 stars, I would.
AHS has certain people that can do certain things. The plumber can do plumbing but they can't do sheetrock. They probably could but they don't do that. The guy who came back to do the repair did it excellent but he didn't paint it. I gotta go ahead and get it painted out of my expense. AHS doesn't offer end-to-end service. It's not a one-stop shop. Also, It would be better if they could let us know what needs to be done in advance instead of piecemealing. They could say, "You did plumbing but you might have to get some remodeling done." That way, we would know what we're getting into. Some people can't wait to that time. They wanna go ahead and get their stuff done quickly. Other than those, AHS does good. I deal with them alone because if they can't fix it, they'll replace it.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Please let us know if you need if you need assistance. Have an amazing week.

We had three dead outlets one time. I was working in my backyard with a power tool and I couldn't get electricity to it after a while. Submitting a claim to AHS was simple. They sent State Electric Company to do service at my place. With the way my house is wired, there is a GFI switch from the sprinkler system. Once the tech flipped that switch, all the power returned. The tech also checked a few things to let us know where we were. Everything went fine.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

American Home Shield is great and we're very happy we have it. It comes in really handy for us. We've been renewing it for the last four years and we've recommended them to other people too. We have two issues going on right now. One is the sink and one is our freezer. I was notified for the sink part, but not the freezer part. My husband was. We were surprised that I was getting text messages for one service then my husband was getting messages from another, for the different service. It was the service provider who was texting us and we were wondering why they were communicating with me when my husband put in the claim for the sink. Maybe I put in a claim at one point, a few years ago, and it was that vendor that remembered who I was.
Whoever puts in the claim and the information that's provided there should be the information used so there's no disconnect or somebody doesn't miss something. You think husband and wife talk and communicate, but sometimes we just have so much going on. We could've missed something and I did miss something because I got another text. There's one service that we are waiting on some parts. I got a text and I ignored it because I thought we've already had the guy here. The text was saying our part isn't coming till May 6th, and I didn't know that. We were trying to coordinate, asking who got what, but it was not a big deal. The good news is that we are being communicated with. That's the important thing. Also, when my husband did the claim, he was pleased. Someone came out to look at the sink and the guy did a great job. They fixed it.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

The AC unit had loose wires and the thermostat was set wrong. The guy from Ice Man Cooling and Heating was professional and on time. He seemed to know what he was doing and took him half an hour to resolve it. He was very good.

Ace Plumbing replaced my garbage disposal for me. It went out. The service guy showed up the first time and looked at it and said, “You know what, this is a ¾-horsepower engine, so we have to order a special one for you. We can’t go with the standard one off the truck at ½-horsepower. And we’ll contact you.” They called me back a few days later and said, “Okay. We have one coming in and we’ll be over on Monday to install it.” They came over the afternoon and installed it.
I submit my claims to American Home Shield on the phone and my credit card’s already on file with them, so they just deduct the $75 service fee. I’ve used them about four times in the last five years. I never had a problem with them. They take care of business. They take care of me each time. I bought the new house only a month and a half ago, and I transferred my home warranty over to this house here, and luckily, I did. It worked out perfectly.

The oven wouldn’t turn on. The technician came in and he saw that we had a serious problem. He checked all the knobs that we were expressing to him that sometimes it won't come on. Then about half an hour later I turned it on and then we were having other problems with it. He checked out everything and said there’s nothing that we can really do so he is looking into having a replacement. AHS sent everything to us for me to choose from within the price range of the one that I had. Within a week’s time I got a new one. The people that came in were very professional. They knew what they were doing.
I like calling the claims in. have this thing where everybody's working from home. It’s kinda crazy but I like to hear a voice once in a while. I’ve been telling everybody about AHS. The only thing is they went up on me and I didn’t know they were taking out more. I started with only $50 a paycheck and I see that they’re taking out $67 and no one told me that. Other than that everything was great. Everybody worked professionally.
Jeanette,

The air condition was not working and Cote's Mechanical did a temporary fix. Then, they went and brought back a motherboard or some sort of thing that was messed up and it is fixed. It was timely.
