It takes about two days for contractors to come out when I call American Home Shield with a claim. When our air conditioner wasn't working, they sent Lux Air Engineering out. The technician was a fantastic guy, one of the best people AHS has ever sent here. The air conditioner has also been doing fine since the repair.

Recently, I called in two claims to American Home Shield and I was on hold for a long time but I’m used to it being in the military. Other than that, once they got on the phone, it was easy and interacting with the rep was great. Getting a contractor out was super quick. The air conditioning guys were good and they fixed a lot of stuff. However, it took an extra week to get my part for the air conditioning and the water guy didn’t have the right equipment so I had to get somebody else to come out. Since then everything looks great. AHS came with our house when we bought it, so we’re probably gonna end up buying another year of it once the time comes.

We had an electrical issue and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield. I went to their website, put in our information and somebody called. It wasn't even 15 minutes later when someone called and set things up. The tech came out here a day and a half after I submitted the claim and he was really good, and so was his quality of work. However, we're gonna have to contract out. It ended up that the outlet where our refrigerator was plugged into was not grounded and the coverage wouldn't cover that to be repaired, so we will have to pay that out of pocket. The tech was able to fix the issue temporarily but we're gonna have to get a new outlet that has a ground in it as the tech explained it. Nevertheless, we had an awesome experience with American Home Shield.

I have issues with my plumbing pipe. The reason I bought the AHS warranty was because I knew that my main shoreline was gonna have to be replaced in an area, and I asked that question when I bought, and they said, "Oh yeah." But now they tell me nothing outside as a foundation is covered. So I was just kind of a little disappointed about that because now, I have a $17,000 project I need to pay for and I don’t have a warranty for it.

Other than that I called AHS to have someone snake my plumbing lines because I had a backup. AHS told me they couldn't get them right there but within 24 hours, they were there. The guy they sent was very nice and very informative. AHS called me yesterday and said the company had contacted them and they were real nice because they asked if we would be covered and apparently AHS would. And when they were told it wouldn't be covered, they gave AHS the estimate price and then American Home Shield called me with that information. I had another claim about a month ago and it worked out really well too.

Both times that I talked to the reps of AHS, they were great, easy to work with and very knowledgeable. However, the first contractor they sent from Sears, seemed a little rushed. He was allergic to cats and we have a lot of them because we deal with animal rescue. We always tell AHS when we make phone calls that if they have somebody that has allergies to animals not to send them, but they neglected to tell him that so it didn't work exactly right. The part they fixed worked fine, but the burner on the top of the stove was out of alignment. So I called them back and they sent somebody right back out. Everything is fine now. I would recommend AHS.

I've been very happy with American Home Shield so far. It's a very reasonable price for what they charge and everything we’ve done so far has been good. We had Sears before them, and it’s night and day over what Sears was. I recently made a claim over the phone for a dishwasher and everything was great. The tech came in, told us what was wrong, told us what we needed, told us what it cost and then fixed it.

I had a good interaction with the American Home Shield rep. Then, the techs from Garrett’s came out a couple of times. They were good and very professional, too. They checked out the dryer and then got a part for it. In the end, however, they couldn’t fix the unit, so they replaced it. The process took 30 days but it all turned out great as I ended up getting a dryer. Our overall experience with American Home Shield has been good.

The ball valve for our main shut-off was not working. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and the contractor who came replaced the part. He was very efficient. He went to the truck, got a new part, put it in and within 10 minutes, he was done and gone. I've had the contractor in here before for plumbing work through AHS, too, and they've been always very prompt and very good.

However, I just had a recent claim today and had some issues with that. I couldn't get any cold water in my washing machine last night. And so, I called AHS and I was on hold for 45 minutes. I was waiting for a person, and then, finally, I hung up. Then I went online and submitted the claim. They said Sears would be here today between 1:00 and 5:00. They confirmed everything. This morning, I decided to call Sears because I never heard from them, and they didn't know what my problem was. I thought I don't want the contractor to get here and say that they don't have the part. So, I called Sears and got a person but I could barely understand what he was saying. After 20 minutes of going back and forth, he checked but couldn't understand the numbers I was giving him. We had a staticky connection. Finally, he said that they didn't have the order, so I hung up with him.

I called AHS and I was on hold for 45 minutes and finally got to a person and explained the situation. The rep was very helpful and he checked on the order. And since I never heard from Sears and they don't have the order, the AHS rep said that he would put in an order to another provider, and then we got disconnected. Half an hour later, I got a call from Sears saying that they're going to be here today between 3:00 and 5:00.

20 minutes later, AHS called back, and the rep said that he got another provider for me. I told him that Sears just called me and said they could come today. And so he said he would cancel the other provider he found for me. I went around for three hours today trying to get this call clarified. Generally, the experience with AHS has been pretty good. I was a Realtor for 23 years, and I used to sell the AHS to a lot of my clients because I felt it was a very good program. I've had AHS for years here, and although we run into issues, especially when we get scheduled through Sears, on a whole, I've been pleased with it.

The home we bought in Columbus, Ohio had a pool and at the time when we first moved in, American Home Shield was the only warranty company that covered pool equipment. This was why we requested a particular insurance and continued with that. So far, every time we've had an issue, I'd give American Home Shield a call and they'd send someone right away to fix it. And although it would take a long time to get to a customer service person, their reps have been courteous. They'd take your information and then get in touch with the company. After that, the company would call you, set a time to come out, and look at whatever it is that's not working.

My only concern was the quality of the technicians. When something went wrong with our pool equipment and they sent someone out, we didn't know the quality of the company or the people that they've sent out. I've listened to different people who came to work on my house and I know that American Home Shield don’t pay their technicians what they would normally make if they went out on a house call. So, I'd question the company that would come and then do some research on them because you couldn't pick who would come out to fix your house.

American Home Shield does replacements if they can't fix the issue. One of the stipulations with them is they will replace whatever is broken with the same quality of what was there. However, there are limits to how much they will pay for certain things. We ran into that issue when we had to have our pool heater replaced. The gentleman who was at my house asked me if I know that I have a 33-year-old heater. I told him that I knew it was old. Then, he said that it was the best that I could buy at the time I bought it. But, when he found a heater to replace mine, American Home Shield said they are not gonna pay that much. They wanted to replace it with something of less quality than what we originally had put in. The people at the company they assigned to us were really good in supporting us. The gentleman argued with them. My husband got involved, too. It took a long time and some haggling until American Home Shield covered it.

But with our most recent claim, they did not want to cover it and I never understood why. We were selling our house and it came up in an inspection that we had a bad GFI. Within that claim, there was also a double tap. Because it was not working, they did not want to cover that. Yet, they said they only cover when something is not working, so I don't really understand. We had to pay for the person to fix that. Additionally, the charge is a little high. When we were first with them, it was a $50 or $60 charge. Now, it's $100 to come out. Nevertheless, I would recommend American Home Shield.

Our AC was on the fritz. It wasn’t just turning on and staying on, it was having trouble also starting. We figured it was some sort of electrical issue and I ran that by American Home Shield. I submitted the claim online and it was very easy. They contracted somebody to come and take a look, and I received a call for the scheduling. It worked out fine and the contractor was someone local. They were great, very helpful, and insightful. They knew what the issue was most likely going to be, given the age of our unit, so they went with the most probable root cause of what was going on. After they replaced a part, which is a small electrical thing, we’ve had flawless usage of the air conditioning since then. We now have a wonderful AC. I don’t want anything else to break given the price. But if it did, then I could rely on American Home Shield easily.

Whenever I've had to submit claims to American Home Shield, I'd just call them up, and they've been able to set up everything and send someone right away. I had a plumbing issue with the sink wherein the water wasn't coming out and my garbage disposal also wasn't working. They sent out a technician. I asked him if there would be any fee involved and he explained it. He went into the bathroom and he said that there was a stoppage in the plumbing that was why the water wasn’t coming out.

However, when water was coming out slow in my Jacuzzi tub which seemed that there was a stoppage somewhere, they said the jets weren’t covered. I was very disappointed to hear that because the Jacuzzi tub was the main reason why I signed up with them. I felt that the jets were a main part of the Jacuzzi tub. They also told me that plumbing is covered, and to me, the jets are a part of plumbing.

The recent claim that I had made with American Home Shield wasn’t very good and I was not happy with the services. The appliance was making noises like a train. It was very alarming and it scared the kids. It started gradually, once every few days, but it started to get worse where it was happening about 5 to 10 times a day, so I called AHS and explained that. They said that they were gonna charge me the $75 service fee and that Star Services would come out. I took an entire day off at work because Star Services would come between 9:00 and 1:00. They came out, but they were late. They didn’t show up until about 45 minutes to an hour after the allotted time, and they never called me. I was waiting to pick up my kids, so I was frustrated. They finally called and said that they were 20 minutes away and that they would be here.

As soon as they got here, they said that they don’t fix noises. I said that my insurance didn’t say that. I wouldn’t pay $75 if there was nothing that they could do. They said I had to wait for my appliance to break, and lose money with whatever food is in my fridge, in order for something to be fixed. They couldn’t even look at the refrigerator. I called and got my $75 back, but I was wondering what the point of the insurance was. I didn’t wanna lose money in my fridge because I always have a full fridge. The refrigerator was making a train noise, but they told me I had to wait until I lose money. In the last three years, anytime Star Services have come out, it has been a horrible service. They are always late and they never call me. They schedule an appointment and I have to keep calling them, so I don’t like dealing with them.

When I talked to the reps at AHS about getting my $75 back, they said they will have to pull the phone record to make sure that I was never counseled on that. Then, all of a sudden, I got my refund. I didn’t know that it was even a part of my contract. It was my fault for not knowing my contract completely, but when I explained what was wrong with the fridge, I should’ve been told that it was not covered.

With AHS, submitting claims is easier if you do it online. If you want to speak to somebody, the wait times are long. So far, I've been impressed with most of the people they've sent out. I've heard horror stories, but we've been lucky. We had a guy come out to fix the fridge, which had a leak. He was fast. When he came, he couldn't figure out what the answer was. He left and then called to see if he could come back to try one last thing. I was impressed with that and the fridge ended up getting fixed. AHS is a fine company. The idea is great. It is a good deal and it'll save money.

I started a claim for my water heater two and a half months ago and American Home Shield sent out a guy who I wasn't comfortable with. He recommended to replace it but he looked a little fishy and I wasn’t sure if he was able to finish the job or not. So, I told AHS to get a second opinion and they got another company out there, Tennessee Home and Appliance Repair. They were good, punctual, and told me what they'd do. They replaced the water heater but it was still leaking. They came out again and replaced the T&P valve, but the water heater was still leaking. Finally, the last time they were there, they replaced the pressure tank that went above the water heater and that stopped the leaking. So the work was complete and I was okay with the claim. I used to really love AHS. They had great customer service and the contractors always did a great job, until recently. My central air broke down towards the end of the summer, when the temps were at their highest. This was the 3rd year straight that it had broken down. For the last 2 years, AHS sent the same contractor named Airmax, but this year they sent a contractor called Speedy Heating and Air. Speedy came out, spent 5 minutes, said I had a Freon leak, claimed they fixed the leak, then asked for $400 to fill the Freon. I refused and I called AHS to complain. I asked them how could it be that for two years, Airmax has fixed my central air unit, but now I suddenly have this leak and all of my Freon is gone? The rep told me "I don't know. If they said you have to pay $400 then I guess you just need to pay $400". The way she was speaking to me, I had to ask her if she was part owner of that Speedy company because she was going hard for them!

I asked for a supervisor, she transferred me to someone else, and that person offered me a second opinion so I requested Airmax. Airmax came out and found a totally different source of the leak, plus they said the compressor needed to be replaced and I still needed Freon. Weeks went by and I didn't hear from anyone. I called AHS and found out that Airmax had declined to do the work and said that the other company needed to finish the work. I didn't want the other company to come back to my house so I called Airmax to beg them to come back and do the work. Airmax said that I had to ask AHS to call them and ask for a favor, and if the owner agreed to the favor then they would do the work. How ridiculous I thought!

Several more weeks went by and I heard nothing, so I called AHS and found out that Airmax agreed to do the work and had ordered the part, but I asked why they were paying $700 to fix a dead, 25 year old central air unit when we could just replace it? The answer was "Because it can be fixed". That made no sense to me, but what made even less sense was that when I asked for a cash out so that I could purchase a new unit, I was told that I had to pay for it first and then request the payout. Well I don't exactly have the money to buy a new central air unit because I spend all my savings making my monthly payment to AHS! I'm done. I cancelled my contract. I'd rather save the money for future expenses instead of dealing with this mess.

On 8/06, I reached out to AHS to put in a claim for the water dispenser not working in my refrigerator. They dispatched a contractor, All Valley Appliances, whom came out three times to see if they could fix the issue. First they changed out the motherboard, which did not resolve the issue, so they then ordered a wire map to determine if there was an issue with the wires. They did find that the issue was with the wire and told me it could not be repaired. I called AHS and they said that the vendor said they were unsure of the issue and that they should get another opinion. So, on 9/07, Shapiro Appliance Repair was dispatched to our house. The service repair guy could not diagnose the issue and was supposed to order a wire map as well and get back to us to schedule a follow-up appointment once he received the map from KitchenAid.

After two calls to him, AHS said that he was not sure of the issue and said they should send out another person. On 10/25, US Standard Appliance Repair was scheduled to come and look at the issue. They said it was a wire issue that could not be repaired. I called AHS and they told me that the provider told them that they weren't sure of the issue and needed to send a KitchenAid specialist to look at it. The customer service rep I spoke with said that they were contacting a specialist and that this would be the last person to diagnose it and that it would be submitted for replacement if they could not fix it. On 11/02, they sent out Active Appliance Repair who was supposed to be a specialist. The provider could not fix the issue and said it wasn't repairable.

I chat with AHS and they tell me that the provider said they should get another opinion and send another specialist. I tell AHS that the company was supposed to be a specialist, but they say they are not and they just work on KitchenAid. They say they are going to set up an appointment with Sears because Sears specializes in KitchenAid and ensure me that Sears is the last person and also that they will refund my service fee (which they did) due to the inconvenience and how long everything is taking. I receive a confirmation from Sears on the appointment set for 11/28, which AHS said was their earliest appointment.

Today on 11/12, I receive a call from AHS that they need to schedule a new dispatch appointment. I send them a chat to let them know that Sears was already scheduled and I was told this would be the last appointment and guess what -- she tells me that they don't have the dispatch scheduled on their side. Also, she tells me that she apologizes, but the previous agent told me incorrect information (as every agent has told me about the previous agent) and they'll keep sending new appliance repair people until one says it cannot be fixed. So, if no one knows how to fix it or diagnose it correctly, then I'm going to keep dealing with this issue and new appointments. She did assign a new service company (this is #5 and three months of dealing with AHS and this issue), so I'm awaiting their call to schedule yet another appointment.

I cannot express how disappointed I am with the lack of knowledge from each customer service rep I have spoken with and the fact that every rep blames the prior rep for telling me incorrect information. I am also disappointed in the fact that no one has had a manager contact me to get this resolved (despite me requesting to speak with one). I feel like I'm being passed around and this company is just waiting until I no longer want to deal with it. It takes 20+ mins to get a hold of someone each time you call their customer service and the chat feature is only available at certain times, so they make it nearly impossible to get a hold of them. I would appreciate if I was contacted by a manager and if my refrigerator was swapped out already, so that I don't have to continue dealing with both AHS and the contractors. It's unfortunate that I've had such a bad experience as it seems like most have given them fairly positive reviews.

AHS is a complete scam and the contractors they recommend are too. Their customer service is incompetent and absolutely not helpful. They are unwilling to expedite or repair or replace ANYTHING. My family of 4 has been without laundry for 1.5 months! The company failed to review the diagnostic apt results, failed to order parts in a timely manner, failed to order the correct parts, canceled appointments day of, still failed to order correct replacement parts.

When I called to resolve I was put on hold for multiple hours, told I would get a callback, which I never did. Called back and was on hold for multiple hours again when trying to escalate. My calls were dropped multiple times. Finally I just wanted to cancel my policy and obtain a full refund because it was clear that I may never get the dryer fixed. They hung up on me 2 more times. I still have been unable to talk to anyone to resolve the issues. Not to mention I've had to use laundromat and friends and family laundry for over a month. A horrible company, horrible experience. Never waste your money with this service!

No one wants to have to wait for several weeks to have the washer and dryer fix. The consumer service rep could not answer my questions and when I asked for a supervisor she transferred me to buying new services. Now I'm back on hold 30 minutes again! If this is the service I'm going to keep getting for this company it's time to find a better company!!!!

The customer service is horrible from this company, they have the worse employees and staff. These guys give the worse customer service. Clearly these are fake reviews. We bought this warranty based on the reviews on this site, however the reality is that they use contractors that have very low Yelp rating and they also have the worse customer service. Do NOT PURCHASE.

It was 95 degrees when I had an issue with the ac and I kinda had a medical emergency. I lost my voice and it was hard for me to breathe. When I called it in with AHS, I mentioned that. When the guy called me back from the air conditioning company, he was telling me it was gonna take another day or so. So I reinstituted that it was so hot and I couldn't breathe in the house and he said he would get me in the schedule that day in probably another three hours. Three hours later, he knocked on my door and they got the air conditioning going. He was really good. AHS could lower the price a little bit but nevertheless, the few times that I have used them, they've been very professional and they get right to it.

The handle on my microwave broke off and I would just hold it at the top. I filed the claim with American Home Shield online, it's easier for me because I work on work hours. The first company they sent out, I wasn't pleased with at all. They scheduled a two-hour timeframe and they weren't showing up. I called to see if they were coming and the guy told me that they were running really late. I asked him what the problem was and he told me that they would just order the parts but they weren’t even coming to look at it. They also wouldn't keep in touch with me. I’d always be calling them to see if the part was in.

Eventually, American Home Shield switched contractors and sent me someone else who actually came and looked at the microwave. They were timely and prompt, I was very pleased with them. What happened was that the model was too old, so they ended up having to replace the microwave and it turned out well for me. They got it in right away and it has been working great.

I had a refrigerator that malfunctioned. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and was given a company out of Birmingham to which I've never heard of. I live in Tuscaloosa, so it’s an hour away. I called AHS to inquire as to why I was given a company out of Birmingham when all the other times that I've done a request they’ve given me someone out of Tuscaloosa. The lady said it was because I did it online and National Platinum was the first one that popped up for whatever refrigerator issue it was. I asked if there was a way that I could get it transferred to somebody closer due to the fact that the company is so far away and may take a while before they can get a look at my issues, and then it’ll take longer for the service could be done.

The lady said that since I did it online, they couldn't cancel it since it was already put in. Eventually, the company called and said they would be sending somebody to look at my refrigerator. But a week went by before somebody finally showed up and checked the refrigerator out. Then they said they were gonna order a part, after which they said they couldn't fix it in time. All the while, I was talking to American Home Shield up to the point where I started to ask to speak with management and they would always take a message for management to call.

My gripe wasn't with the company they sent, but with AHS and the fact that I was never reached out to by management to talk about the situation, after speaking with two lovely ladies who answered the phone both times that I called. They took detailed notes and I still have yet to get a callback. In addition, I was without a refrigerator at a time when my wife was nursing. So I had to get a mini refrigerator and I had to go buy a deep freezer to be able to keep her milk. As for AHS, they offered money to go and rent a refrigerator, which I felt was an insult when the whole time I only asked to switch companies. Eventually, my refrigerator ended up getting fixed after a month of complaining about the company.

After that, I had another issue with my refrigerator which was totally unrelated. I did another online request, and it gave me National Platinum Services again. After giving that company horrible reviews with American Home Shield, both online and over the phone, I still got that company again. I called to get that switched and they said that since the company had to work on it the last time, they have the honor and so they gave it to them. I put my foot down to tell them no. They finally gave me another local company.

My stove went out last month and AHS gave me somebody locally. The company came out and said they needed to order a part. Two weeks went by and I ended up calling the company back because they always did well by me. They said that the day after they put in the report, American Home Shield contacted them and told them to go ahead and zero out the report because it was on them now. I had to call AHS myself to find out what was going on and that’s when they sent me over to the recovery department for them to tell me that they would have to get me a new unit. But I had to call them for that. Based on my recent experiences with AHS, they replaced three units for me, which have been great. But then at that time, it was frustrating and they wanted to be very difficult.

They also replaced the icemaker and the lock on the door. The lock didn’t work the first time, so they corrected it and put another one on it. Since then, it has been working fantastically. I'll do another policy with American Home shield as I'm fixing to sell the house and buy another one. However, I have to be very careful about understanding what the policy covers. I sent in the claim online through my phone, and they called me within 24 hours. The vendor was real polite and very nice. He explained what he was gonna do and I paid 100 bucks. The contractor had to come back several times. But essentially, it had been repaired by GE prior to when I had the vendor from AHS. They explained that the appliance has a pretty rare problem. They fixed the control board the first time, which was the original issue with GE. And then there was something that was affecting the control board so he ended up repairing that the second time out, and now it’s been good ever since.

The first claim we did was because the power kept surging and the breaker would go off, cutting off all power to my master bedroom, bathroom and closet. I submitted the claim online and I had it scheduled but I didn’t hear back. It turned out that American Home Shield had an inaccurate phone number in the system. They were getting the number through the lawyer office when we got our house mortgaged. I've updated the phone number. But at the time, it took three days and I finally called them.

#1 R & R Electrical Allstar came out and they were nice. They tightened the wire connections for the breaker to the panel. But that was it and by that evening, it was tripping again. When we would have multiple lights on, or the TV and the light on in the room, or the fan and the TV on, it would trip the breaker to the master bedroom and bathroom. So we had to make a second call. We had no power over the weekend in the room until they came back. That time, they changed the breaker out and it’s been good ever since. I have had not an issue again. Since we’ve moved in the house, I've had a couple of things but it’s been good. The wait-time to get through sometimes is not as easy. But on my scheduling, it’s efficient. I've recommended American Home Shield and my parents have taken a policy out.

The tech came out three times but it wasn't his fault. American Home Shield got the tech out here on time and we didn't have to wait on anything. Follow-up visits took a bit longer, but they got back here. It took longer between the second and third visit because the tech was probably researching why it kept burning the thermostat. He got a feedback that it was probably the venting on the dryer. So, I changed the venting and he replaced the thermostat. The problem was resolved and we're satisfied. The clothes washer broke last year and it took three months to get it fixed. Luckily, I had two so I didn't panic. When the first provider came, he couldn't figure out what was going on. Then a second one came here and he said he knew what was going on but he was not authorized to order the part. He said he could have gotten the part the next day but AHS changed the policy and disallowed service providers to order the parts. He would have to submit it for AHS to order the part and that would take one week. This procedure prolonged the time we had to wait. AHS probably overlooked the term of the contract. When we signed up, they did not say we would have to wait this long. When we have something broken, we have to wait an unlimited amount of time. They are supposed to have a time limit.

With my nightmare with the clothes washer, I thought I'd better buy a new refrigerator, just in case. I recently found out that my refrigerator is not cooling. The one in the kitchen, which is older, also has an ice maker that is not working. I filed the claim online and I was told that the service provider would contact me. They did but they told me that in my area, I would have to wait 20 days for the refrigerator. That is too late. What kind of warranty is that? The contract didn’t say they could wait this much time. I discussed this issue with AHS one time and they mentioned reasonable time. But what is reasonable time? In this aspect, they are breaking the terms of the contract.

I had to call AHS back and ask them to find another contractor, and it took them 16 hours on the phone. Yesterday, the contractor came here and decided that the control board is broken. They're gonna replace that. The contractors sent by American Home Shield are good but there was one that said I couldn’t deal with them directly. They said that I would have to call AHS and AHS would have to order. It took me 16 hours to get a hold of American Home Shield on the phone and while I was waiting, the phone was hung up two times.

I wish AHS can work on their phone. When you call, they say that they are helping others and you have to wait in line. But they have me wait totally. When you call the IRS or the California Franchise Tax Board, they would ask you to leave your name and phone number and they would call back. That way, I wouldn’t have to spend eight hours on the phone. That’s terrible. I'm really debating with myself whether I should continue with AHS next year. With the long time I spent on claims, is it worth it?

My air conditioner had a leak. I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim. I spoke with the reps several times over a period of about a week. It was good and they did a great job. The only complaint that I would have is that on their 1-800 number when you call them, I remember waiting one night for an hour and 25 minutes on hold. But when I finally talked to them, they had somebody call me the very next morning.

The contractor came out within a couple of hours after they called me. We identified what the problem was and then it got slow. I guess the contractor had to submit the claim back to American Home Shield. So I’m kind of at a loop at that point. I didn’t hear anything for 24 hours, so I called. My understanding was I was supposed to call the contractor. It was the first time I’ve ever used it, so I was a little confused.

When I called the contractor, they said that I didn’t really deal with them and that I would deal with AHS. So, I called AHS and they said I didn’t have to deal with them but with the contractor. The contractor submitted the claim and then they contacted me, and if I accept their bid, there's a $75 fee that I had to pay to American Home Shield. It got a little confusing for me because I don’t know if the contractor just hadn’t been used that much. They didn’t seem to be familiar with how the process work.

I’m very pleased with AHS for standing behind and honoring the contract and taking care of the air conditioning issue. But it took about seven days before I had the AC repaired and this was in the summertime. Once the contractor got it right to submit the bid with AHS, they thought AHS had to order the parts. So I waited a day or two on that. I called the contractor and they said they were waiting on AHS to order the parts. I called AHS and waited on the phone again. When I finally got ahold of them, they said they don’t order the parts and that the vendor orders them. So there was a delay because there was some confusion on the vendor’s part.

The vendor did a good job, but they didn’t seem like they were familiar with how everything worked and it seemed to drag things out a little bit. But it wasn’t all their fault. From the time they started, they had to wait for an approval from AHS, and from the time that all these were done, it was a 48-hour period before it was approved.

After the repair, the AC has been working great. I like AHS. They didn’t give me a hard time when I started making an insurance claim. They were very helpful and they never balked at paying for anything or taking care of the issue. I’m satisfied with the fact that with the amount of money I’ve been paying for a year plus since I’ve been in this, they did a good job. I would highly recommend AHS. It’s a great deal for what you pay, and they’re gonna take care of your home warranty needs.

I had certain issues with plumbing. There were a couple of leaking faucets and the water was dripping in the kitchen. I thought it was the faucet, but it was the disposal, so I made the claim with American Home Shield. They covered it, which was good, and the guy who came out was great. He came three times to manage all the actions that needed to be done. However, the frustrating part was that a steel part for one of the toilets that he needed to order took over three weeks to get, so we were out of commission with one of the bathrooms for a bit.

I had to explain that the situation had multiple issues, so I called it in, but sometimes, I go online and do it. Most of the time, I make a call specifically because I have some rental properties that I have rezoned and I have to make sure they call the tenants and I schedule appointments by myself. It is usually much easier when I talk to someone. Their customer service is great. They always feel like they can assist with the issue. MACE Plumbing, the contractor that was sent out, was also great.

I hardly have a good experience, but most of the time, the biggest issue is the response time that it takes for people to come out. They supposedly give us 48 hours to respond, but I found out that sometimes it takes longer and the best way to do is call them directly and try to schedule an appointment. However, if they contact us within 48 hours, they may not schedule an appointment for another three days. In dealing with a home warranty, the cost is typically very attractive on the repairs, but at the same time, we are dealing with longer response times.

Also, when the guys try to get parts, sometimes it takes too long, too. I have a rental property and they had a refrigerator repair, but it took around three weeks to get the part. I don't understand why it takes so long. I can go online and order a part and, typically, in two days, I can get it. If AHS really wants to enhance the customer service, they gotta look at the response time on handling the claims after the first visit, when they pre-order parts. That is the biggest thing that needs improvement.

But the biggest hassle with American Home Shield is that they allow 24 hours for the contractor to contact you. So that just kind of makes emergencies not really doable. It wasn’t an emergency in this case because the weather wasn’t bad at the time, but it could be. I can imagine plumbing issues so I don’t like that about American Home Shield. We filed a claim with American Home Shield for our dishwasher and that process was very simple. The contractor who came was very good, prompt and thorough. He explained what was causing the problem and he answered my wife's questions on other appliances. He didn't have the parts available so we had to wait for the next day to get it shipped to him, but he was right back with it. He was in and out, got the part replaced and we were very pleased. We hope we would never have to put in a claim, but we would use that company in a heartbeat again and everyone who needs a company needs to go with them.

When the water pressure was low and I had one faucet that didn’t work at all, I called American Home Shield and they contacted a local plumber, Budget plumbing. Then Budget called and told me when they’d be here. They were very timely and they sent a plumber who was an expert. He was excellent and courteous, and he did a really good job. I was pleased with his work and everything has been working fine since the repair.

In September, however, when I had some gas leak, it was a different plumber that was sent. The last time I had was excellent, but the first one, I kept telling him, “You need to call and say what you’re doing, or what you’re assessing.” But he was obstinate and I didn’t know what I could do about that. I just kept repeating myself and I was so mad. Nevertheless, everything worked out and he got paid. That situation with the first plumber really wasn’t American Home Shield’s fault. It was just bad communication. Also, it was a weekend and it was a holiday. Still, having the warranty with American Home Shield is very worth it. It’s like having a partner in keeping your house going.

I love American Home Shield. We've had the warranty since we moved into the house in '98 and they take care of everything. The light wasn't working in my kitchen and AHS sent a guy out to repair it. But right after he repaired it, the light stopped working in my living room that was connected to the kitchen area. He came back out and took care of that.

However, we hope they would give shorter time spans of when the contractors are coming so we don't have to stay late at home. We also hope we could choose the company that we used before. We had air condition people that service our air conditioning yearly and we would like to choose them when something goes wrong. I had trouble a couple of times when filing a claim a while back. But it seems to have taken care of itself. There was one contractor that I didn't particular care for. But other than that things has been okay so give them a try.

I called American Home Shield when my dishwasher was not draining and they were very courteous and very easy to talk to and to deal with in getting the claims set up. The contractor contacted us within two days to schedule an appointment, and then they worked around our work schedule. They were out within the week and they talked to us about the issue. Unfortunately, they had to come out two or three additional times because the issue kept occurring. But we finally got the dishwasher replaced, so now, we don’t have any issues at all with it.

We chose to upgrade the dishwasher, so we purchased one on our own and American Home Shield paid us what they told us ours was worth. I would recommend American Home Shield to anybody. It’s very valuable. We’re first-time homebuyers, and so the house not being brand new, it was good reassurance especially with something like a dishwasher.

Don't waste your money on American Home Shield. Like any home warranty company, they do whatever they can to try to avoid fixing anything. We’re in a new home and my husband noticed the outside spigot was dripping. He went to tighten it up but the whole pipe broke. So he shut the water off to the whole house and had someone come out the next day. But the contractor couldn’t access the full pipe. The kitchen cabinets had to be taken out and they told us that we had to hire a carpenter to do that. So my husband handled it himself instead.

We've had all kinds of things that needed to be repaired. But why would we even bother with American Home Shield when they're ultimately gonna find a way not to repair. We have to pay the copay to have contractors come out to tell us they’re not gonna do it. So we would end up spending more money. So we just take care of everything ourselves.

And on top of it, we ended purchasing from them a digital thermostat. It was a great experience. They didn't make me feel bad about anything. We're very happy we got the policy. I've had a great experience with American Home Home Shield. I call them for my claims and it's easy. When I lost the keys to my house, technicians came and rekeyed it. American Home Shield only covers five locks and I have eight. It cost me 400 bucks, but AHS lived up to their part of the bargain. I've been with AHS for over a year. I just bought a new house and the hot water heater there went out. I called the claim in and three days later, I had a new one installed. That was just awesome. I had to pay 60 bucks for a modification but I understood that.

I pay AHS good money and they do what they say they would do as opposed to Select Home Warranty which does nothing. Select Home Warranty gives me numbers of contractors that don't answer the phone or numbers that don't exist. I recommended AHS because all the other companies take your hot water heater and they say, "It's eight years old. We'll depreciate it," and then get a check for a 100 bucks. I've been very happy with AHS. In fact, I have five properties. I am going to cancel all my Select Home Warranties and I'm gonna go with American Home Shield on my other four houses. They're a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

The first time we reported it, it was a little rough as it took about a couple of days. The first group sent was also not specialized in Viking appliances and didn't do Freon work. If people report on a Viking appliance, AHS needs to make sure that they send folks who are specialized in it, so they don’t waste any trip. AHS had to send a second group that was specialized in Viking to do it. When they sent the right people though, the repair was done very quickly. The tech was a very positive and helpful guy. Since the pressure wasn't right, he had to adjust that and add a little Freon.

Our heater was not working downstairs so I filed a claim online with American Home Shield. Their site as very user-friendly and completely seamless. After using it once, I won't ever call again because doing it online is more efficient, easy and accessible. I don’t have to wait until someone answers, listen to different menu options and hold on. I can do it anytime of the night. And as soon as I finish typing, I would get a response saying that whoever has been assigned would be contacting me within 24 hours. Everything about it is perfect.

As of late, the contractors AHS sent out were extraordinary, professional, timely, responsive, seamless and communicative even though recently, we had different issues. The latest company gave us a 2:00 to 5:00 time period. I asked if somebody could call me before they head out because I had to pick my daughter up from school in that time period but our heat was out so we needed to get that fixed as soon as possible. Then, she called back and said that they had an opening from 12:00 to 3:00 and asked if that would work better. I’m like “Perfect.” I didn’t have to ask. They did that on their own. So that was tremendous customer service. The guy who came fixed our issue in one day and explained to us what the problem was. Apparently, there was something wrong with the light switch and he had the part available. He had actually been to our house before so he remembered where things were. He was perfectly nice, friendly and responsive.

But in the past, we’ve had a group who, if we ever see again, we would not use American Home Shield and we would just have to pay for it elsewhere because they were horrible as far as their communication and customer service went. When I called the office, no one ever answered the phone over multiple days. It took forever for them to call me back. And when I looked them up online, the lack of ability to get in contact with someone was a consistent complaint. The inability and non-responsiveness were completely unacceptable. We also had an issue with our garbage disposal that was leaking. It was replaced a couple of weeks ago but it’s leaking again so I’ve got to schedule a convenient time when I’m gonna be at home for them to come and look at that again.

American Home Shield sent out Belgrade Plumbing for our most recent claim, which turned out to be a long process. Our upstairs toilet had to be plunged at least a couple of times every day. Then down in our kitchen, the kitchen sink would back up and we’d have to run the garbage disposal a couple of times a day as well. The tech said that the flapper valve in the tank, in the toilet, wasn’t doing what it was supposed to do. So, he replaced the whole tank, but it did absolutely nothing. And then he said he cleaned out the line near the kitchen sink and that should help. But that did nothing too.

He was supposed to come back but we didn’t hear anything for a couple of weeks. I kept calling and I texted, then after about three weeks, we set up a date and time. He was gonna come out but I had to cancel. I asked him if we could do it later in the day, because he had done that before on us and it wasn’t a big deal. He agreed and said he would be here at a certain time, but I haven’t heard from him since.

We called AHS back and they were disgusted with Belgrade Plumbing. AHS tried getting a hold of them but never got an answer. So, AHS sent out another company right away. The contractor ran a snake all the way down and they thought they cleaned something out. There was also a leak off the new tank that Belgrade Plumbing put in, so the new guy fixed that. And then he found that the garbage disposal was absolutely gone. It would have rusted away. So, everything was hanging in the garbage disposal and not let water go by. He changed out the garbage disposal and now it’s good. It all got worked up beautifully.

American Home Shield repaired my stand-alone ice maker last week. But they had trouble finding the part and the repair took a long time. It took about a month before they finally found one and got it to the appliance company that installed it. My experience working with the contractor was very good and the ice maker has been working since then. It makes ice. But I don't have a contract with American Home Shield anymore. I had one for my property in Houston and one property out in Bellville. But I didn’t renew the contracts for either property. I had been a customer for about 20 years but all of a sudden, they started doubling the cost for me. I guess it was because I had a claim and I think that’s unrealistic.

Plus in the process of getting a repair, it takes the contractor a tremendous amount of time on hold. Then the contractors would complain that they don’t really wanna work with American Home Shield because they can’t spend their day on hold trying to get approvals. It was the same for me when I would make a claim. I would spend up to three hours at times, on hold and waiting for a representative.

I filed a claim over a month ago for a blower issue on my heating/air. I had to call the Heating and Air Guys, they didn't call me. The problem started on a Saturday and they came out 4 days later. It was sort of limping along at this point, but I explained to the tech that the AC side was not blowing very cold but the heat side was not blowing heat at all. I explained to him that I didn't want there to be a problem when it got into the winter months. His diagnosis was a pinhole in the line and I needed freon. AHS only pays $10 per pound for this and I had to pay the difference to them (contractor). OK great. He told me if it happened again within 60 days, I can just call them directly and I didn't have to go back through AHS. So a couple weeks later...same thing happened. Only they won't answer the phone or call me back.

I contacted AHS and days later the contractor comes back. I told them it was doing the same thing only now it's cold out so it's the heat that's not blowing. He acted like we'd never had this same discussion recently and tells me I may have to pay another $100 service fee. Why? You haven't fixed anything yet. He tried to say I called them originally for an AC charge. I did??? He tests some things and determines what part he needs and tells me they will order it on Monday. Fast forward 9 days later and a few un-returned messages later...I get a text @ 2:30 saying they'll be at my house between 5 and 7. Short notice, but great. He puts the part in and it doesn't work and he can't figure any of it out. He calls the owner who says he'll be back tomorrow @ 3:30. I haven't seen him yet and he didn't call to say he wasn't coming. He won't answer my calls or call me back.

All I keep hearing from AHS reps is that they are sorry and they understand it's going to be cold out but I have to wait another 24 hours for the contractor to call me. Why??? I expected them yesterday and they didn't show or call. And they claim they can't find another contractor to come out. I have the parts, I just need them put in. AHS makes sure they collect their service fee and monthly payment, but they don't stand with you when you're being taken advantage of by their contractors. These cut-rate contractors are representatives of AHS and you would think they would be better vetted. I'm not sure I'll be a customer of AHS much longer. Making this right will determine.

It was an evening when I made the online contact, and the contractor got ahold of me the very next day and set up an appointment. They also called before they were heading this way just to make sure I was here so it was good to me. I'd rather have more than enough contact than not enough contact when I needed something done. He had told us what needed to be done, and it was a good company. Since then, everything has been operating well. I tell my neighbors all the time, and my children as well that they should get American Home Shield. It will pay off in the end if they have something major break down.

We just bought the house and a pipe burst under our lab. We only realized it after three days had passed and it was such a big burst that we ended up losing 10,000 gallons of water. I called American Home Shield and they sent out the plumber. The plumber fixed it and submitted the bill to AHS, which ended up being a buy-out because the damage was so much. We've been with American Home Shield for three months and their coverage has been great. They are about 150 times easier to deal with than my insurance company.

The light fixture on our ceiling fan broke and it wasn’t working. I called it in to let American Home Shield know that I was having a problem and I explained what was going on. They were persistent enough to put in the claim for me. Their contractor, Clean Electric, came out and their technician was very professional and helpful. He tried to help me resolve the issue, but it couldn’t be resolved. He came back a few days later and put in a new fixture. Everything seems to be working fine. Every time I’ve had any problems, American Home Shield has been very helpful and their timeframe has been very fast in getting the problem resolved if it could be resolved. I appreciate that and I’m very pleased with them.

Hospitality Heating and Air was fantastic. They found an expansion valve bad in my HVAC unit, then as they got ready to replace that, they found that the unit had mold in it. Their techs are great. However, I'm not a happy camper with American Home Shield. It was terrible navigating their website and then on two separate instances, I was on hold for over 30 minutes at the time trying to get in touch with them. They should stop lying to people and then embrace customer service. When somebody calls, they should answer the phone within a reasonable length of time. When they tell people that they're gonna do something, then they must follow through with it.

Our air conditioning unit was not cooling. It was in August and it gets 115 here in August. We have two units. The other unit was working, but it was working at full blast because we have a 2,500 square foot home. We had a couple of fans and we closed off some of the rooms that aren't used. American Home Shield sent their contractor, Argo, and they were very good. They were very cordial and respectful. We had to get a new one and we had to order it which took exactly two weeks. First, the claim had to go in, and AHS approved it because the unit was 12 years old. Everything went along, then they had to get it shipped. Argo had to make plans to come out and put it in for us. Everybody was very helpful and courteous, and we have two working units now. I'm glad I got the policy. We were very pleased with the whole incident from start to finish.

The contractors they have sent let us know exactly when they would be here and they knew what they were doing. The people at the house we bought the icemaker from have had problems with it as well. They had a repairman come but he was not able to figure it out. But, the guys that AHS sent figured it out right away, so we have been very pleased -- it was the control panel and they replaced it. AHS did everything they said they were gonna do.

My microwave was old and the interior enameling came off. It was also sparking and had to be replaced. AHS' contractor took one time to replace it. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was easy and I had a very good experience. I do it over the phone and online but it depends upon what the situation is. Sometimes, I would rather talk to a person but sometimes, it is quicker to do it online. The contractors were fine 90% of the time I had them and did a great job 90% of the time as well. I had an occasion when someone did not finish the work but that's very infrequently. They told me personally that they would come back or I could contact them if I had a problem which I did but they did not respond. However, they have been fair in terms of not duplicating the fee when it is clearly not something that I could have controlled or something that they just required return visits.

I got a letter in the mail today that AHS changed the structure of their program, the language, the things that are covered and they no longer offer the whole house program I have been using for. I was not expecting that and I was told that I have until February to accept or decline it. I do not have a choice if I want to stay with them and I hope it will be a reasonable rate. Still, I have recommended American Home Shield to a number of people who have either bought older homes or who have been in a home a while.

My sink recently backed up into the dishwasher so I had a blockage. I don't understand why American Home Shield did two separate orders for that. I had two different people come instead of just High Priority, but it was taken care of and we were very satisfied. However, submitting the claim was a nightmare. You could be there for quite some time just trying to get through to someone to make a claim, which is awful customer service. Most of the reps are fine as they take the information and take care of you. But you give them your phone number and all that information, and you think they'll call you back but they don't. So, I have to call back and wait on line again, which I don't like. This last issue being filed, I had someone through and we got disconnected. It took me three phone calls to get through to get this one issue taken care of.

Even though they offer that service, you can go on the internet and request it. For that particular time, my line for service had been cut in the yard. I was trying to explain that to the lady, and she said, "You know you can go online and do it." But for the most part, the services are good. The technicians that come out are good people, and they take care of things.

I've been with American Home Shield for about four years now. I had investigated all the warranties and American Home Shield seems to have a better deal. I'm also staying with them because I have all the original parts in my house that I bought. Like with the hot water heater and the dishwasher, all of the stuff is still original and nothing will die. I've also had no problem with any of the contractors with American Home Shield except I don't understand the four-hour window. But that goes with any of these companies that are coming out to your house. When they say they would be there between 8:00 and 12:00, it would be nice if they would let us know if you're number three on the list or that they would definitely not be there at 8:00.

With my last three claims, the contractors had all gotten there within 15 minutes of the final hour. I would sit there, not going anywhere, not running to the store or not running an errand, when they could have just sent a text message saying I'm number five and that they're probably not gonna get to me until 10:00 to 12:00. They know what number you are on the list. They know that if you need to run out and take a kid to school at 8:00 in the morning, it's okay. That's the only thing. That goes for my son too. He also has a home warranty and when they're at work, they ask if I can go over because the technicians are coming.

I had Central Electric come out about my bathroom fan once and they told me I was number two on the list, which was very nice. But then the guy came out and said he would submit the claim to American Home Shield. The fan was making a horrific noise where the valve bearing is lying around and I couldn't even use the fan. American Home Shield doesn't fix noise though. They only fix something if it completely died. So I spent $100 for nothing. That was a bummer. I have to own it too though. I didn't read my contract and look into the details. But then, I don't want to read my contract all the time either.

I have a refrigerator claim right now. It's with a different contractor and it's taking eight days for the contractor to come out. That's only because that particular contractor is still busy with things. Otherwise, American Home Shield has gotten on everything I've reported within half an hour. I've also gotten a phone call back from somebody and usually, within 24 hours, everything's fixed. I had one claim for my toilet because the water kept running in the tank. Something just needed replacing and Durango had it done in less than five minutes.

It's so easy to make a claim with American Home Shield. I just bring up an old email with them and click on their website. I don't even have to look anything up. Right at the top, it says "Require Service" and that's it. It takes less than 30 seconds. You just do it through the thing and then next thing you know, somebody's calling you from the company to set up a repair. The people that they work with have been so good too. Then American Home Shield immediately follows up to make sure everything went okay. Those are my best things. American Home Shield is very serious about good care.

In fact, I had a garage door problem at one point in time and the people came out and fixed it. But then, it wasn't working again. So I called American Home Shield again. When the guy came out, he gave me his card and said that the only reason the garage door was not working was because I had bumped it. It wasn't the work that they had done. So he told me to always give them a call first. If I just bumped something, they would come out and reset it, and they wouldn't charge me anything. So the company is really nice. The people there have been really nice and professional as well. That was going above and beyond too. It made the contractor look bad if I had to make another call. Also, I just didn't know what I was doing but they were able to explain what was happening and show me how to remedy it. That was an education process and that was good.

We then submitted a claim with American Home Shield and things went well. We wanted a certain vendor so I had to talk to somebody, and they let me have who I wanted. Usually, I get really frustrated with AHS, but this time I got better service and, compared to claims we had in the past, this one went quicker. I’m not crazy about them, though. I’ve had them for years, and I’ve invested too much money in monthly payment, but I always find them frustrating especially that I can’t get anybody on the phone and I can’t figure out if something is covered or not. I would pay the fee they require, and then they would tell me they would not cover my problem. It probably would have been better to put the money in the bank and fix it myself. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t have done it.

My sister told me about American Home Shield and it was the one she recommended. While my experience was great, I had a problem with the last service tech who was sent. I had submitted a claim for a washing machine whose bearings went out. The tech called several times, saying he was late but he lied because he told me that they did not open until 9:00 when my appointment was for 9 o’clock. He then said that he was busy with another job. So we scheduled for the following week, and he told me he would be here at 8 o’clock. But, 8 o’clock came and went, and he still was a no show. So I called Kelbachs Appliance to find out where he was and why he was late again. He got all lippy with me.

In addition, I waited for three weeks for him to call me, and he did not tell me that he needed to order the parts. Given my experience, I would not recommend Kelbachs Appliance to anyone. I don't want their guy ever in my house again for any type of work. He was very rude and when he came walking into the door, he had an attitude. Other than that, my first call to AHS was for my furnace. Since I was new to the company, I ended up calling a tech that I knew and thought I could get reimbursed for his services. But I called later and found out that they don't. Still, I’m very satisfied with AHS’ service. They are great as far as being able to get someone right away.

I submit my claims through a mobile app and it's super easy to use. Within 24 hours, a contractor contacts me and if I need them sooner to just figure out a time, AHS will give me the number and tell me to call the contractor directly. When my dishwasher had a power failure where it kept coming on in the middle of the cycle and there was soap in the bottom of it when it finished draining, AHS sent Colorado Appliance Parts and Service. The contractor who came out here had to order a part. It took the end of one week for the parts to come in. It didn’t take long, and everything works fine now. I can run a load of dishes without the cycle stopping in the middle and there's no power failure.

That was like a weird coincidence. I get online to submit a request and within a couple of days, they send me a text. And then they’ll handle it. If they have to order parts, they order parts. Then they’ll come back to fix once the parts arrive.

I had three claims. Two of them were great and one wasn’t. The one that fixed my washer, I wasn’t really happy with. So I asked American Home Shield that I wish not to use the company, and they said that would be fine. The one contractor that they sent out said I had to remove the washer from the slot. I had to bring it out for them. I had to have everything around clear for like two feet, so they can work around it. The other repairman who came for my dryer said that my washer didn’t need to be moved, just like they wanted it. We were without a dryer for a couple of days, but the process was pretty fast. Everything else has been really good.

I had a plumbing issue. I submitted a claim online with AHS and I did that because on the phone, I would end up waiting very long to speak to somebody. Their process is more geared to be done online and in theory, you don’t need to speak to somebody because they have to contact a contractor to come out anyway. Their website is very user-friendly and even if you don’t remember your sign in details, you just have to type in your address and some other information that you should know.

The tech who came out for my claim was very good. He got it resolved on his first visit and didn’t have to come back. He was also very polite, very skilled, and when he came in, he saw what the problem was. I thought that it was worse than it was but he took care of it. We'll have to wait and see though. I got a whole year if something goes wrong because it was a leak dripping from a bathtub off the top into the ceiling in my garage. I wanna cut away the sheetrock myself and take a look up in there to see.

I have American Home Shield on this particular home for over eight years now and they have saved me countless money. In the first year, I didn’t have to pay for it because the people I bought the house from had it for the first year. At the time, I had to replace my AC compressor and when I asked the tech how much that would have been if I didn’t have American Home Shield, he said that would been an $1,800 repair. So, I was quite happy to have the warranty. Then I had to replace my pool pump and that would have been $300 to change. But all that it cost me was the service charge. So, it's a fairly cheap insurance for a house that’s over 20 years old.

I got a dryer and a dishwasher repair done through AHS. They were very attentive and knowledgeable when I submitted the claims. One of my qualms was the first time, the contractor came out, he didn’t fix the dryer. They said it was a ventilation problem. So the next time, he came out about the dishwasher, I just went ahead and had him look at the dryer again, told him that there wasn’t anything wrong with the vent, and they were able to fix it. But it was past 60 days, so I had to pay the service fee. When the technician came, he looked at everything and said he had to order parts. He probably wasn’t there 20 minutes and he has done a good job.

However, they set me with an appointment and the repair service people have 48 hours to get in contact with me, but I’ve had a lot of cases where it took longer than that for those guys to come out to the house. I’ve been put on hold for a week or two, before they can even do the first visit. But that's the only downside that I see to it. They don’t really work around your schedule. They tell you when they can come and they give like a four hour window and tell you that you have to be there in such hours, which makes it hard also. I hope the service people could respond quicker. Once I get the email from American Home Shield, I go ahead and call them on the first day to set an appointment. Most of the time when I call, they say they didn’t know that. They had to look it up. The longer it takes them to realize they got a claim, the longer it takes for them to call me and do the service.

My air conditioner broke down on the summertime. They were booked, so I ain’t have air for three weeks. When they came out they said I needed a new unit. So they had to call American Home Shield to get authorization to replace it. Once they got authorization, AHS had to send them the unit and then they had to put the unit up. Then they had to find a time they were available, within their schedule, to come out and do it. Nonetheless, they replaced stuff that needed to be replaced.

The guy came out on a Monday, looked at the garage door and diagnosed that it had a broken part. That Friday, he came back out to replace the part. When he put in the part, however, the garage door started doing the same thing it was doing prior to him working on it. So, he told me that he was gonna have to replace the entire garage door opener. An appointment was scheduled the following week and he came out and replaced the whole thing. Everything is working great now. I've already talked to my brother about getting American Home Shield and he's looking into it now.

There was something wrong with the sensor of my thermostat and it was causing the AC to run non-stop. I filed a claim with AHS online because every time I tried to call, which is my only complaint I have with AHS, it took forever and a day to get anyone to get on the phone. I have to go through an automated system, then I have to wait, and then 90% of the time, I have to end up calling back because it gets disconnected. It's just a very big hassle to talk to anyone. I have several things that I needed to actually speak to someone about, but I can't ever seem to get someone on the phone.

The contractor came in on time and was very knowledgeable. He knew the problem and addressed it, and was in and out within half an hour. The ac is now working perfectly. I also asked him to check the ac upstairs and make sure, because they were the same make and model. The one upstairs seems to be working. He went above and beyond to help me with that.

When we purchased the home, we knew we had the warranty. We called American Home Shield and they said that they will be in touch with the contractor, Hensley Plumbing. Their technician contacted us, looked at it and told us what was going on. We paid out $75 deductible online, then he came, did the repairs, put a dent in, rooter the drain, and everything has been perfect. He was prompt, thorough and did a very good job. Then you wait days for parts that they can buy at Lowe's/Home Depot. 4 weeks/dryer. This time CNJ Services LLC came out to diagnose our water heater. The repair guy said it was the electricity and to call an electrician, which we did for $40.00. Not the electricity! Call AHS again, they reschedule for a second time. My husband loses another 3 hours of work to wait and CNJ Services LLC - NO SHOW. We call and they tell us it will be another 4 days until the parts come in. How do they even know what parts to order when he said it was the electricity to start. Come to find out he contacted the manufacture on the side of the water heater and ordered parts for free. (Again, what parts he said it was the electricity?) Both companies are scams and have no customer service. I hope Mr. Rex Tibbens can sleep at night running his ** company.

Have placed 10 service calls for A/C, furnace and pool equipment this year. 80% of calls have required multiple visits due to incorrect diagnosis, ordering of parts, and prolonged periods of waiting for each. Each call is $75, cost of warranty is $750, $1500 total so far. If each incident were priced individually with private service providers, I most likely would have paid more at this point. However, the service and subsequent repairs would be much faster and accurate. For example, if your A/C is broken in July or your heat is broken in November, you should expect to wait up to a week or more to have it repaired. Whereas, if you contacted a service provider directly, they would move and behave at the speed of competition.

Additionally, if your A/C or furnace is shot, (this happened to me) DO NOT expect that it will simply be replaced free of charge. There are multiple items that they do not cover (refrigerant, etc.) and you will find that it will cost you at least a few thousand dollars to have it replaced with the warranty. As well, you may end up with refurbished parts that will simply break again. This math favors replacing the unit on your own privately and availing yourself of the manufacturer's warranty. In short, know what you're getting into here. The service is slow and if you have a failure in a major system, you will be better off replacing it on your own.

It was pretty and brand new when I put in the sink when I bought the house a year ago. So, I knew that in that length of time, I had not done any misuse and I was very upset that he accused me.

I complained to American Home Shield and they sent out another guy. He found that some wire in the disposal burnt out and he could smell the burnt wire. He said it could not be fixed and had to be replaced. He then replaced the garbage disposal and it has been working fine. I was very pleased with how American Home Shield handled my situation. The technician said he would have to get back to American Home Shield and they would get back to us as soon as they had an answer. But we did not hear for about a week. I called American Home Shield's claims department because evidently people don't make those seals for that refrigerator anymore. The contractor couldn't replace the housing on the water dispenser. Then, he didn’t plug it in far enough and it fell out, but it wasn’t noticeable. So, the next time we filed a claim, which was about two months later because the refrigerator wouldn’t work, the third tech came out and found out it was unplugged. Since the third tech was out, the refrigerator has been working fine. We had to pay $75 for each time the techs came out but the repair people were good for the refrigerator and I like them. I have three accounts with American Home Shield right now and I’ve used them repeatedly over a number of years and in general, I’ve had good service from American Home Shield and from the people who’ve provided the services. It’s easy to submit a claim online, but if the problem is complex and you need to do it over the phone to speak with someone because of a particular type of problem, it’s very difficult to get to a person on the line. You will, eventually, but you’ll end up waiting for 15 to 30 minutes.

Two years ago, I was having problems with the refrigerator, sometimes it was cold and sometimes it was not. The guy who came out to service the $10,000 built-in refrigerator had taken some things apart and asked if he could turn off the water because it had a dispenser for ice cubes and cold water. I told him to go ahead and do that. I was doing some other things while he was working and didn’t pay a lot of attention to what he was doing. That was a mistake. He slipped the refrigerator out, which isn’t difficult to do, and turned off the water and proceeded to work. I came back in and he told me that all I needed was a little Freon, and he added some Freon, and it should be fine. The refrigerator was back in place. This was my first experience in having a problem like this with the refrigerator, so I just assumed that he knows what he’s doing so that must be right.

After a year, and I noticed that I’m having the same problems and at that time, I was getting ready to travel to Europe and I said, “I’ll deal with it later and see what happens.” I came back, and time passed, and eventually it got worse and worse and worse. So, I didn’t want to have the same company come out because he had taken some plates off the refrigerator that I found after he left that he had not reassembled or put back in place. The screws were loose at the top. What he had done hadn’t been effective. So, I ended up getting another company who came out.

The guy came out and he replaced at least one element that wasn’t working properly. He said that if this unit has a leak, that doesn’t solve it by putting the Freon in. If it continues to leak, you have to find the leak and fix the leak. We thought that fixing a switch that was stuck would take care of it. But it didn’t. In a few days, I could tell it wasn’t working.

So, I started keeping a detailed log of exactly what the temperature was and how it was fluctuating. I figured when the guy came back, whoever came back, that it’d be helpful to know what’s happening, how it’s behaving. I ended up getting the same people who had come out initially. He said, “I’m gonna put more Freon in.” And I said, “I had a technician who was here before,” and told him what happened. And then I said, “If we’re putting the Freon, all we’re doing is continuing to leak, and that’s not fixing the problem.” He completely ignored it and pumped it full of Freon, and it has functioned properly since. The probability is that it is still leaking Freon and that this’ll be a problem that will reoccur. So, it’s just a matter of, “Is it gonna happen again? And if so, who am I gonna get?”

I’ve got a $10,000 refrigerator, and American Home Shield will only pay $3,000 to replace it minus the cost of service that’s been provided on it. It would have been great if the company that serviced the refrigerator had told me that it’s a very, very small leak which is difficult to find and repair. What they’re doing is waiting for it to get large enough to find it, then they can repair it. I had another situation where I lost an air conditioning unit, and they completely replaced it. So, despite the fact that I’ve had these issues and problems, I have had good service from American Home Shield and they’ve provided a valuable service to me. So, from that perspective, I would still recommend them.

American Home Shield has been really great so far. I file a claim on their website most of the time and then they send somebody out. Some of the contractors have been really nice. The most recent claim I had was for my refrigerator and I'm still waiting on them to fix it. But the contractor that AHS sent out here the first time was rude. The guy was from ACE Appliance and he called me on the phone before he came out here. He asked what was going on and I told him that I thought it was the compressor. He then said that he would be here the next day to look at it. He showed up and told me that it was the compressor and that somebody would be in touch with me before lunch. But I never heard back from him.

The following week, American Home Shield sent another person out here which was through ACS, and they were great. They were here whenever they said they were gonna be here. They even came out on a Saturday. They also said that it was the compressor and that they would get back with the company. But it took like forever, and I had to submit another claim through American Home Shield and follow up with them. They sent ACE back out here to replace the compressor.

ACE scheduled the appointment three different time. The first time, the guy called me to ask when we could meet and I told him that he said it would be that day. He apologized and told me that he was overbooked that day. Staying up waiting on them when I need to be sleeping was kind of a pain. But then, the next day he called me back and said the same thing that he overbooked and he would do it next day. So I called American Home Shield and I asked if there was any way they could send the second people back out here because I really don't like ACE Appliance. But the girl I talked that day told me that they were wanting too much for ACS to come out and do the repairs, so they went back with ACE.

On the third day, the guy showed up and he supposedly fixed it after he spent several hours out here, only for it to still not get cold. He came back out here about a week after that saying that there was a Freon leak that he couldn't fix, and he was gonna submit it to the company saying that he couldn't fix it, and for the fridge just to replaced. But I haven't heard back from anybody since then, and this was several weeks ago. American Home Shield should look at their contractors a little bit better. But as far as their customer service, they've always been really nice.

The house that we bought was closed in August and when we got in there, the washer was working fine. After two weeks, I would turn on the washer and it wouldn’t start. So, I would tap it and it would start to work. I would go back an hour later to go put it on the dryer and the water would still be sitting there. If I shut the lid, sometimes it would start back up or I would have to give another tap to get it to start right back up. I originally went online and tried doing submitting a claim and setting up the appointment that way but that didn’t quite work. When I called American Home Shield, the hold time was very long but the lady that answered the phone got the appointment and everything squared away which was great.

When the repair company came out, the rep was super courteous. I told him everything that was going on and he took the washer apart. He said it was the timer where I push and pull them out to get it to start and the switch was bad as well, so he would order the part. He asked if I had the model number or the serial number and I didn’t have it nor any instruction manuals. He said that it usually takes about five days with American Home Shield and since I didn’t have the model number and serial number, it might be about 10 days. So, he was totally transparent with me. He told me that as soon as he got the parts, he would let us know. That happened on a Friday and then I waited the Thursday after the next one. I called them and said I was just checking out.

The lady that answered the phone said that AHS tried calling me. I didn’t get a call, but we were moving and a lot of things were happening. They emailed the pictures to Whirlpool who couldn't figure out the model number and they also checked some serial and model numbers. AHS wanted to give idea about the replacement options.

I called AHS and the lady who answered the phone was super courteous. She was good because she explained the situation to me. She said they couldn’t get the parts. I was fine without the part but my girlfriend had been doing research on washing machines and she found Speed Queen. If it was on the list that they gave us, we could go that route. So when we got the email, we went online and we looked at them but the company wasn’t on the list. When I was talking to the lady on the phone, she told us exactly how the process would work if we had a washer in mind that was not on the list. So, we went that route, went to the appliance store and ordered it.

The lady instructed me to take a picture of the invoice or send a text and then our check will be in the mail in two weeks. I had the check in five days and I was stoked with that. AHS has exceeded my expectations when we were shopping through the home warranty. They have three tiers and I opted for the middle tier and just paid the difference. I'm happy I did. I see value on it and AHS was awesome. I appreciate it.

We've called American Home Shield one time in the last two years and the experience with them was excellent. I filed the claim at nighttime and the contractor was there early in the morning. I was surprised that he came so fast and then fixed the issue right away. That was very convenient. Our sink grinder wasn't working and he explained what was wrong with it. He was friendly and professional.

    M. Spinello & Son came out because we submitted a claim to American Home Shield to do a rekey on the condo that we had just purchased, which was covered under the plan. We called American Home Shield and set it up. It was really easy. Then, we got contacted later that day and the contractor was out within a day or two. The gentleman was very personable. He explained what he was going to do as far as rekeying the locks and took care of it for us. We were very happy with AHS' rep and with the contractor they sent out.

American Home Shield has an 800 number-type deal. You dial them and tell them about the issue. I get an actual person and my interactions with them have been good. In the past, they didn’t have enough people answering the phones. It was about a year ago and I used to wait on the phone. It could take 20 minutes. But now, they seemed to have fixed that. There's been a huge improvement.

American Home Shield doesn't supply the contractor. It’s like an insurance policy and they have relationships. So the one who does the job is the local contractor. Those people don’t work for American Home Shield. Nonetheless, the contractors American Home Shield refers are out in a few days. That's relatively quick and they're great. They’re friendly, honest and professional. They do straight talk and they're straight shooters. They’re not gonna sell you stuff. They’re just trying to help you. All the repairs they’ve done have been topnotch too. I've had two with Johnny’s Appliance and TV Repair. One was for an oven and one was for an exhaust fan on the cooktop. The warranty is a good deal.

The guy who came out to do the repair was very knowledgeable. He fixed the dishwasher as soon as the part came in and everything has been fine since. However, I replaced the dishwasher and stove to match the refrigerator that AHS replaced since it is black slate. I had a very good experience with AHS. I was very satisfied with them and I have recommended them to other people.

I requested the contractor Air Max because they do my service twice a year for my house and the tenant's house, and I like to use them. One time, they sent another contractor and I will never use them again. The person who came absolutely lied to me, and I was not stupid enough to believe what he said. That was four years ago and it's over now but I will never forget. But overall, I always recommend American Home Shield.

This house was empty for a little over three years when we bought it and before this house, I have never bought a home warranty. After the first year with American Home Shield, I renewed it and paid for it every year. I called in the claims and the rep was wonderful. I called about my washer dying and while I had her on the phone, I went ahead and told her about my electrical issues. So, she dispatched someone for the washer and the electrician. They both came out and were knowledgeable as to why I called and what was wrong and took care of it.

When you walk in the kitchen, there is a set of switches to turn the lights on, another set of switches at the end of the kitchen and a third set of switches by the family room. Two sets of switches quit working so, they needed to be replaced. I also have lights in my daughter’s closet, in my closet and in the downstairs workout room that wouldn’t come on or if they come on, they would immediately go off. They had been that way for a little while and when the switches in the kitchen went out, I called AHS and had them get somebody put to take care of all these at once. So, the contractor took care of the lights which all needed new ballast. He also replaced the two sets of light switches in the kitchen and the spare bedrooms upstairs. He also replaced the exhaust fan in the bathroom.

Also, when I bought the house five years ago, the inspector told me that all six exhaust fans needed to be replaced and that they weren’t doing an adequate job. I asked all six of them to be checked when I called American Home Shield. The contractor did and he said that five of them were loud, but he still felt like they were being efficient, but one was shut. Instead of replacing it, he got a new motor for it and he came out to the house and he said it wasn’t the same motor, so then he took it back. He was out to the house a couple of times because that motor was giving him some fit.

During the first couple of years that I had AHS, I would call and I would be on hold a very short amount of time. In the past three years when I've called them, there were times I've been on hold for an hour. So, it was frustrating that when you call, you're on hold for quite a long time. However, I would recommend them when it comes to service and care. Also, if something needs to be fixed, it gets fixed and if it needs to be replaced, it gets replaced. I told three people within the last five weeks that they should call AHS and get it because they were asking me about my washer breaking down. I told them how easy it was to call AHS and that they sent someone who checked it out. It always seemed to be comparable to what I had and I pay $100 for the service fee.

So, I called them and they said somebody would contact me right away. A locksmith did and told me it would be two weeks before he could get here which I said was not very acceptable. I called AHS and the manager who sold me the product. They jumped on it right away and they were superb. They found another locksmith who came out and did the job. It was a day later. Although the initial experience had me worried about it, the resolution was absolutely terrific. They recognized the problem right away, they found a solution, and they kept in contact with me. The experiences with American Home Shield are usually really good. Recently, there was flooding underneath our washing machine and the company Prestige came out. The contractor fixed something on the bottom machine, but, a couple of days later, we noticed there was some leaking water from the tub of the machine. The guy came out and fixed that, but then I had more water on the floor. He also said that the water was not draining through the pipes.

So I called out a plumber, and they cleared it out. But, then, I had more water flowing on the floor, so I called Prestige back again. Their guy cleaned out a little stuff in the soap container to see if that was blocking some water. He said, "I watched the water come up on the drain and it was coming up. So if you're running two appliances, it's not draining. You need the plumber back".

I called AHS back, and I was told there was no charge on the return visits within 60 days. However, they sent me bills that I had felt were paid already. They also sent me an email saying that I owed money, which I did not. They charged me $75 and another $100 for a visit that had already been paid for in another property in the desert.

The guy from Prestige said the second thing they repaired had nothing to do with the first one, but he went ahead and repaired it. Since they came out, I didn't contest. Even though I was told there would be no charge on the follow-up, they charged. I told AHS to go ahead and give the $75 to the washing machine people since they came out three times and it was okay with me. But he had my credit card so I didn't know why they were saying it was a late payment.

The rep who I spoke with at AHS said that if I paid that, then forget about it. But since I was getting an email the second time about it, I called AHS since I also needed to have the plumber come out. He said he'd look into it and get back to me, but to my knowledge, no one called back. What the rep at AHS did was set up for Prestige to have another service call. But I didn't need them to come back. Since it was a complex issue involving two different providers, I think AHS got confused. So I called Prestige and told them it was a mistake. But then I receive the bills again on the email.

I still need the plumbers to come out. I was in a serious accident and was in the hospital for a week, two weeks ago. And so, I haven't called back to get the plumber to straighten it all back out again. It was some kind of misunderstanding. This has been happening no more than a couple of months now and it is very difficult.

Prestige and the plumbers were very nice and I like them very much. They both also did a good job, but apparently, the plumbers hadn't cleared the line deep enough. It's just that it's a line that connects to the bathroom line that's in the next room over, and maybe they were cautious not to put a roto so close to the toilet. The water still backs up a little bit. We've kinda managed it from that level. But if somebody does need to come out and clear it a little more, it would be better in case somebody comes here and doesn't know. Other than that, I would recommend AHS. I've been with them for three years and they have been responsive. They've sent good people for the most part and I've been happy with their service.

I'd rather have Independent Appliance. It was very easy to file a claim with AHS online. I did one for my refrigerator and Independent Appliance contacted me within a couple of hours. But of course, within just a short period of time, the whole thing just quit working at all. And then someone else came out and he took his time. He checked everything and then he did a thorough job looking at my refrigerator. He found out what the problem was. My refrigerator is not repairable so they are replacing it.

I went online and picked a refrigerator out. It was supposed to be delivered in a short period of time. But then, the hurricane hit and they had a problem with the refrigerator coming so they offered me just the monetary value and I could buy my own. All I have to do is return my receipt once it’s paid. I went and I’ve already gone ahead and bought it. It’s been brought to my home but I have not received the check yet. But when they sent someone to work on the HVAC, they had to contract to someone from Birmingham, which was an hour away as opposed to someone in the local area. Then when our bar fridge went out and we wanted that repaired, they might come back and said it was not included in the coverage. I'm not too happy with American Home Shield. They make it very difficult to get items replaced. All items that I've had to have repaired multiple times that have continued to break and malfunction. It's aggravating and I have to keep paying them a premium. AHS would much rather collect the money on the premiums and the deductibles than pay anything out. We had an issue with the washing machine, and the contractor came and replaced every moving part inside it because it was making all those kinds of noise during spin-out. But today, they had to send somebody else out because it was making the same noise again.

The biggest thing that I don't like about AHS is their outsourcing. They outsource you to these people in countries where English is definitely not the first language. They're rude, and they're hard to speak to and to understand. They don't relay information properly. They don't even input data properly. I called AHS two weeks ago to try to have the washing machine looked at, and one of the outsourced people said that everything was good. I was under the impression that everything was situated and I was gonna be getting a call from GE Appliances, but never did. So, I called AHS back yesterday and I got an American person, and he said that I did not have any service request listed and it looked like nobody put it in.

AHS doesn't offer any kind of reconciliation. They tell me that I gotta re-schedule. It's aggravating because it's not the first time that there has been an error because of one of their mistakes. It doesn't seem like they care when somebody makes a mistake. But their contractors have been good. They're courteous and professional. I've been happy with things when they work out, and it was easy to get things to work out.

After not hearing anything from AHS, we called and spent days being given the runaround. They were waiting on this or that. We have 5 young children in the home, 1 with special needs that relate to food. I need a working refrigerator. This has been a burden on my family physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. I have had an open work order since July 2018 and it is still open as of today. My work order was for a water heater replacement; at the initial open of the work order I advised AHS reps that I recently had a water heater replacement from AHS and their authorized contractors 3 years ago. At the time of the work order processing no one advised me of a manufacture warranty and 2 of their authorized contractors told AHS that my water heater was 7 years old. The contractors told AHS they called to verify if the water heater was 7 years old and under warranty; but they didn't.

AHS did not further investigate or didn't advised me about a manufacture warranty until 10/24/2014, almost 5 months after my open work order. My manufacture warranty was not brought to my attention until cash on lieu was involved and I advised them that I just replaced my water heater 3 yrs ago. In the meantime I was advised by authorizations and cash on lieu that my work order was denied due to manufacture warranty (almost 5 months later).

In the between time 1 authorized contractor came out to estimate the work order but they advised AHS that their company did not have the manpower for the job. The 2nd authorized contractor came out did the measurements and advised AHS they could do the job and it could be replaced with the water heater that was ordered even though the measurements were larger. I had an appointment with the authorized contractor for replacement a few weeks later but AHS did send the order for the water heater to the supplier, therefore the contractor could not replace the water heater and I took off time from work to be home.

When I called AHS they I was told someone dropped the ball. Few more weeks passed by, then the contractor finally got the water heater and scheduled an appointment for replacement and then I was told after 3 times of entering my attic I need to replace the subflooring where my water heater is located. So I had to remove my own water heater to replace subflooring. I finally was able to get AHS to have the contractors replace the water heater but the water heater was a foot taller than contractors estimated. So they were not able to install a water heater again.

Authorized contractors was given information to replace my water heater with the wrong water heater because AHS did not authorize the conversion model of my obsolete water heater. I have been back and forth with AHS for months I was never advised of NON COVERED COSTS for codes and modifications. So I called the contractor who replaced my water heater 3 yrs ago and got an outline of the work order and what was paid from AHS and compared it to the work order for 2018 and nothing is different as far as replacements and work completed.

I brought this up to AHS authorization department and advised them that I never paid for non convered costs or even discussed non covered cost prior to contractors arriving to my home on numerous occasions. I have been back and forth with AHS authorization representatives over the phone and they disconnect from the line while trying to assist. I have been told 3 times that a supervisor would call me for the last 4 days and someone called last evening and disconnected from the line in the middle of our conversation and didn't call me back.

I tried to call back but it was an automated line with different options. My plight is the customer service satisfaction is disappointing and I have been a prominent paying customer for 10 years. Supervisor do not investigate your issues and concerns without you having to follow up with them. After almost 5 months of an open work order there is no seeking of a resolution.

The toilet worked, but it was just sitting on the tile and did not have any way to connect it to the sewer pipe. Called AHS, they fixed it based on their policy of "improper installation". No problems. Today, called because my HVAC is not working. Turns out the ductwork was not installed properly so it can't push heat to all the rooms. This repair is not covered, even though it is clearly an improper install. They said this was a modification, and not covered. My guess is. This problem will cost a bit, and the toilet repair didn't.

The next day, probably by 10 o'clock, somebody already called me and had somebody coming out. The contractor was awesome. He was very friendly, showed me everything, gave me some tips and tricks and fixed the leak within the hour. Unfortunately, I've had some bad luck with American Home Shield, but this is definitely an improvement. And if things keep rolling this way, then I'm definitely gonna consider extending my policy after one year.

When I submitted a claim to AHS for a main sewer pipe issue in my house, I did it on the phone. And while the customer service reps were okay, I felt like they didn't really understand what was going on. Even if you're as thorough as you can be and you’re telling them, they will not notice. So when the repairmen come out to do the job, they have no idea what are you talking about.

American Home Shield only use one company in my area. And that company is like a two-guy business. They're very small. However, they have been polite and they have done what they were supposed to. In fact, the main sewer pipe doesn't leak anymore since the repair. Other than that, it's hard to get a hold of their reps. You're on hold forever. And they much rather you use the computer and we're not always accessible to a computer. Still, while it hasn't been a bad experience, it can be a lot better. I might still recommend AHS to somebody.

Sears came out for my washing machine after I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield. Submitting the claim was easy and the response time was really faster than what I thought. The technician came out in two days and my husband was really impressed with him. He explained everything. Our washing machine was not draining and it was leaking water all over the floor, and the tech showed where the leak was and that something was cracked at the top. AHS replaced our washing machine. We really appreciate having them. And any time I hear people say that something broke in their house, I'd ask if they have American Home Shield, and then I tell them that they need to get it.

I had a problem with both my washing and dryer which I reported to American Home Shield online and they got somebody out. I was really pleased with the quick turnaround time. The contractor got the referral, called me right away, and set something up that worked with my schedule. They were really easy to work with. They were really nice and friendly too. Unfortunately, they were able to repair the dryer but not the washer. And because of a size fit issue, I couldn’t get anything unless I replace the dryer to go in that spot. Had I known that the washer could not be fixed, I probably would have opted not to have the dryer fixed. Then we could have both saved some money ‘cause I ended up having to replace them both. Still, my experience went really well and I was pleased. There’s not a thing that I was unhappy with with American Home Shield.

That way, I don’t have to wait so long for somebody to answer the phone. But sometimes, I have to make a call if I’m not near my laptop. One time, the pool wasn’t running properly and South Tampa Pool and Spa came out. But several of the problems were considered normal wear and tear, so they were not covered. Other than that, I've had the American Home Shield warranty on that house even when I lived in it and and they’ve been pretty good but not great. I have them for eight years now and so far, a little over half of the stuff that I submitted to them got covered.

Every time I would call for a claim, you go through the same thing, and it kept repeating, “For faster service, go to www..” But when they said that somebody would call me in the next 24 hours, they did call. But I had to wait a week for a contractor.

I called some of the electrical company I had, and they said that they were not with Home Shield anymore because it takes a long time to get paid. Also I live in Odessa and the contractor that came with electrical live out-of-town so it was kinda hard. But he apologized for being so late. He finally came late at 7:00 but when he got here, he was very patient. He was good.

I think they changed service people here so they're more responsive and they know a lot more. We've had a couple of claims here in the last year and this last time, the technician arrived in three hours. Amazing! We called because the garbage disposal was leaking and it was Blue Star Plumbing that came out. A part was no good anymore so the technician replaced it. He had the part on the truck. It's a fairly easy thing that everyone would ask for this type of neighborhood. It was a great experience. He was very personable and professional too.

Everybody has been wonderful too, except for the first guy who came out. He was fixing my garbage disposal but he didn't come prepared at all. I had a broken garbage disposal full of water and I asked him if he was gonna put a towel down or a bucket under. He was like, “Yeah, I guess I should do that.” On the other hand, he fixed everything and it was great.

The second company that came out was awesome too. I've called American Home Shield three times so far and on the first couple of times, it was great dealing with the representatives. But when I was dealing with the heating and air claim, the representative was hard to understand. There was a bit of a language barrier. They got the problem resolved though. Myers Comfort Specialist came out and they were very helpful. The outside coils on the AC had been freezing and they fixed that. The air went totally out in my air conditioning unit. I called AHS and we talked about how quickly the contractor would be out. They got somebody out here within two days. They told me I had to pay the $100 upfront, but they never took it out. They came back and got it back later. The contractor and I talked a lot. Once he was down here, he worked and found out what the problem was and what it was gonna be. Something major was initiated and something else had been done on that unit. When they came back, they decided they were gonna replace the whole unit.

If the contractor was repairing it, he could have done it that day. However, we were waiting on the purchase order to be finalized, which took four days. They had to get the purchase order number over to the company that they’re buying the unit from. Once they got it over to the company, the company had to recognize that it was gonna be a pick-up versus a delivery. Then the company that needed to put it in there was able to get it done.

When the contractor first got out, it was about 100 degrees outside and my house was so hot. I stayed in a hotel. They weren’t able to get it replaced until after that weekend. But I love the fact that I only had to pay $100 for a new unit, which could have cost $6,000 to $8,000. They were able to get the unit to me, got in, and took care of everything about it. They were really professional down here. The AC has been working like a dream since then.

We had an issue with a refrigerator. We filed a claim over the phone with AHS and it was pretty easy. We’ve dealt with the contractor that they sent out many times before and he was amazing. He was really there to help you in any way that he could and he was a very kind and courteous person. He wasn't able to fix the issue on the refrigerator in one visit but that wasn’t his fault. That was an issue with the parts and it was something that made me consider changing companies from American Shield. But the gentleman let me know that it was an issue with the manufacturer of the product, so he saved them on that one because I was furious and I would've left.

They ended up replacing the refrigerator after a month and that was an issue because it’s a place where my daughter lives with two small children. I had to go buy a small refrigerator for her to use until we could get something resolved just to keep milk in the house. So that was completely unsatisfactory. Still, it's a good thing to have a home warranty and I’ve always had a good experience with AHS with the exception of this refrigerator claim. That is something they need to improve on their end because although it’s the manufacturer's problem, they were very well aware that that particular manufacturer is one that they cannot get parts for. So, there should be some resolution that happens a lot faster than leaving a single mother with two small children without a refrigerator for over a month. They should’ve immediately said that if they couldn't get the part, they were gonna go ahead and replace the refrigerator.

About three weeks since we started living in the house, we noticed we didn't have any hot water. Before we had taken over the house, the past homeowner showed me how to reset the hot water tank and when we did that, the hot water came back. But it would work for a couple of weeks and then go back out. As we did that reset, the frequency got less and less. Soon, we were doing it every two to three days. Then one time, it didn't seem like it reset. That was when we called American Home Shield. By that time, we had been living in the house for a little over a month.

I had my order number and I called the claim in. It was fully automated and it was a seamless process. After about 5:00pm of the same day, the plumber called me, wanting to schedule when he could come out. He wanted to come over within two days but we were busy at that time so we had to schedule for him to come in four days. When he got there, he wanted to make sure that the concern was legitimate, which I understood. I was there to help answer any calls that he had. He did his due diligence and made sure he reset everything like I had been doing. Then he wanted to check if maybe I just didn't reset it properly but it happened to him too. I think it tripped the breaker on the unit so rather than replace the whole electric hot water tank, he replaced the two heating elements.

He called me the next day to make sure everything was fine and even about a week after. He wanted to make sure the hot water tank was still functioning properly. He even told over the phone to me to bump it up just a little bit. Everything's been fine since the repair. As a matter of fact, he texted me about a week ago, and I told him the hot water tank's working great and I thanked him for checking. I really appreciated it. He was very nice and professional, and we had a great experience. Other than that claim, we also noticed that we could call in a warranty call to change the locks. We didn't know that but we found it as we were looking at our deal. So we're gonna go ahead and do that too.

We called up American Home Shield for our plumbing problem, and they sent a company to take care of the problem. The contractor called us, and he came in the next day and checked the problem. He tried to put the snake into the plumbing to see if they could open it up, and it didn’t work. He said that the problem was in the septic tank. American Home Shield covers cleaning of the septic tank once in a lifetime of the contract, but they do not cover the septic tank itself or the drain field.

The contractor told me that he couldn't find the problem until the septic tank was emptied. They only do plumbing work but they do not do the septic tank itself. He said American Home Shield could pay for that, so we called them and they called us back to say they got the company that will take care of it. The septic tank company called us and they are from Houston. We live in Miami so I don't know hay we got a company from Houston. There was enough plumber and septic tank people in the Miami area.

The septic tank company from Houston called and they said they don't do septic tank. They can do the diagnostic but we need to empty the septic tank. We then called American Home Shield, and the company that they originally sent from down here said that they could get another company down here that they deal with and they could empty the septic tank. It would cost $450 but I had to pay for it here. They cannot wait until they get reimbursed. They told me that I could pay them for the septic tank clean and diagnostic, and American Home Shield would reimburse me. I agreed with that and they came the next morning.

They emptied the septic tank which was $450, and the guy did the diagnostic which was $350. I gave him a check for $800 and I got a copy of the check. When the diagnostic came in, it said that the drainage field had to be rebuilt. They have to put new stones and it would cost $4200. I told them to go ahead and do it. I paid for it because American Home Shield doesn’t cover that, but they will cover the $800 that I paid initially. We sent copies of the bills, the septic tank cleanup, and the checks for the $800 to American Home Shield.

American Home Shield said that they didn't have an authorization number, so they didn't pay for it. We sent it again and they said we shouldn't email it. We have to send it through a fax. We then sent it for fax. We have so many numbers, and I don't know what day of the week anymore with those people, and they said they never gave an authorization to the people that they sent. I told American Home Shield that that was their guy and they should at least call him to give them the number. They told me that they couldn't do that and that was my responsibility. So I called the guy that American Home Shield sent and sometimes, he changes his voice back. When my wife called him, he said he would call up. They're stretching it out and giving their authorization number that if you pay, they would do the cleanup and reimburse you. Until now, nobody paid anything.

I've been with this company for over 35 years, but I've never been treated like this. It's unbelievable. I cannot even get somebody to call me back. They told me that they would solve the problem and that they would call back in two or three days. But they did that four times and nobody ever called me. When I called them, they didn't even know who was the person that I talked to. We had to tell them the whole story and give them the numbers and names. We never heard from American Home Shield and from the guy that they sent out. It's been a freaking nightmare. I would cancel my contract with American Home Shield very soon.

We’ve had AC issues ever since we bought the house. American Home Shield was the actual original people for the previous owners as far as what needed to be replaced. They're the home inspectors, as far as the AC is concerned. They replaced one of them but they pushed this one out as far as they could. Anytime we submit a claim, we always talk to somebody about the situation and know what’s going on. That way, they know. If we have a question about it, we wanna make sure that, “This has been going on for a while. What are we gonna do?” “Let’s send them back out and let’s have them reevaluate it again.”

AHS has been out here for the AC problem five times and it seems like it’s always the same problem. It’s a temporary fix and it’s like a Band-Aid on a more serious problem. There was a leak in the AC unit, so they’ve been out here twice for that. Then they would come and work on something else. They’ve been outside for an hour working, they come in and tell me that it's the filter, and I didn't know what they do outside. I change out the filters pretty regularly. They would say that it was just the duct and we needed to replace it. I have a monthly subscription and they always get an abundance of air filters. So I know that’s not the issue.

American Home Shield has been great people. They are really nice and respond well. But as far as who represents them, in a small town, AHS is stuck with those. AHS lets the good guys go and leave the crappy guys behind. They should reevaluate as far as who they let go versus who they keep, just because it’s an extra dollar that they have to spend. Quality versus quantity is so much more important. If AHS lets a company go that was amazing versus a company that has been out here so many times for a recurring problem, it just seems like the company tries to make up something so they can keep coming, they want the bucks from AHS and I don’t want AHS to pay any more than I wanna have.

It was a little bit annoying. Nevertheless, they repaired the issue on the third time, and there were no hidden cost or surprises. Right away, he opened up the refrigerator and said that it was the light switch. He said that it was most probably not connected and he connected it. So far, everything has been good. I would tell others to get a warranty with American Home Shield. Here in Connecticut, if you’re selling your property, by law, you have to have a guarantee for one year and it’s usually Home Shield. All the real estate agents use this.

I had a problem with my kitchen lights. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and it was easy. Right after I put in the claim, I got an email that says it's been assigned. Within three hours, I got a phone call setting up an appointment. It was great. An electrician came over here and he was a really nice guy. He introduced himself at the door after I gave him directions on how to get here. He was very polite, professional, and very personable. He spotted the issue in about 15 minutes and took care of it. He did not tell me to go away, and allowed me to sit there and basically hold the flashlight.

The electrician didn't charge me for anything. He came out with all the parts that I needed. Everything matched nice. It was a really great experience. The electrician even followed up. He's one of the best guys I've ever had who came out from AHS. If I ever have any electrical problems, I'm going to pull out his business card and tell AHS that I want them to send me this guy. Overall, I am very satisfied with AHS.

My air conditioner started to go out. It was frozen up, so I knew I had a Freon leak. I put in our service request online with American Home Shield, but their website was a little slow at times and it kicked me out a couple of times. I did manage to get it through eventually, and it got taken care of really quickly. The contractor came out very promptly and they were very professional. They kept me apprised of what was going on and they were very, very good to work with. There was a part that had gone out that they did not have. They said they had to go back and report it back to American Home Shield, and then they would get the clearance on how to go forward from there. So, they weren’t able to resolve the issue in one visit. I filed the claim on a Friday, and they were out on Monday for their initial visit, and then they were back on Tuesday to fix it.

I’ve got a special needs child and she doesn’t regulate her body temperature very well. Without the air conditioner, she overheats. So, it was definitely a relief to get it fixed as quickly as we did. We didn’t have to worry about taking her somewhere else and having her stay with someone else that had working air conditioning. Our air conditioner has been working fine since the repair. It was a really good experience on my end. I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. I would and have recommended them highly.

There was a leak in the upstairs toilet which was dripping into our kitchen. I guess it was coming from the wax seal. I filed a claim and American Home Shield was really polite. There weren't any issues with getting anybody out here. In fact, that claim drove two contractors to come out. One was a plumber who had to pull out and replace a whole toilet. It didn't take very long. The only thing was the fact that when they replaced the toilet, they ran a gray seal around the base of it instead of a white one. Maybe, that's the most industrial strength stuff they have and it just happened to be gray. It is noticeable but the work is done. They did a good job and everything worked out. Plus I can probably always run a bead of white caulk around there.

The other contractor came out from Perfection Drywall about two weeks after. American Home Shield had recommended to wait a couple of weeks because they wanted to make sure that the leak was gone. The drywall guy was a young gentleman who was really polite and professional. He had to replace a piece of drywall that had to be cut out on the first floor to gain access. Water had also been leaking down and it caused damage to that area of the drywall. He did a good drywall job. He had also laid out a tarp and made sure everything was cleaned up. So he was super cool.
