Since they don't take after-hour calls and they don't follow up first thing in the morning if claims are filed at night, the online form that they have people fill out should have an urgent box in case it's an emergency. In this way, they know and the contractor can be dispatched out quicker instead of just a normal ticket. When we went to flush our toilets, the water came up instead of going down. So, we submitted a ticket online with American Home Shield and the next morning, the plumbing company called us. They were not able to get to us for 48 hours, so I called back to American Home Shield and said that it was not going work. We needed it done that day because our pipes were backing up. They dispatched out another company, and they were fantastic. They were here within a couple of hours and had it fixed. We had an issue with the microwave as well and the people were good too.

I have my washer for a while now. I could smell burnt rubber when the washer was on the final spin cycle. That scared me because I had never smelled that before. So, when I called Home Shield, they said that they would have someone. And then, they left the number for the company that would be able to come out. When I called the company to see when they would be able to come out, the guy picked up on the first or second ring. It was the weekend so when I called, the guy said that he would come out the next day, which was a Monday.

The guy was really nice. When he came out, he had his mask on so it was great with this whole COVID thing. He took the proper precautions and all of that. And then, he told me exactly what he needed to do, that he needed to order a part, and that it would probably take a week. I said it wasn't a problem. And at that point, with my company, I was able to work from home. It worked out for me. It was a great experience.

I’ve been a customer with Home Shield for going on 19 years and every experience that I’ve had with their service technicians has always been great. Home Shield has always sent great, quality technicians. Whenever something goes wrong in the house, I never have to worry because I know I have Home Shield to back me up. I’ve recommended them to family and friends. And now that my son is a homeowner, he has Home Shield too.

I'm on my own and my house is getting older so it's the right time to get a home warranty. It's been an excellent experience. Recently, I called Home Shield for an air conditioning unit that wasn't working. I spoke with a live person and she sent me the information for Gagne Heating & Air. Then they called and texted me when they were on their way. The air conditioning unit is working fine now.

I submitted a claim to AHS for the disposal. I did it on their website. I pressed “Claim” and then it gave me choices and I pressed “Plumbing” and then I hit “Garbage disposal” and then I paid ‘cause I have a credit card online. Then someone called. The contractors were professional, nice and super timely. They were out the next day early in the morning. The contractor that went out reset it and it went great. There’s a reset button. I thought I had reset it but it didn’t reset. Then he said he’s done this for 15 years so he knows how to do it pretty well. They were polite and were in and out of here in less than 10 minutes. So far, my experience with AHS has been amazing. It’s been quick, easy and super-efficient. Even in these times, I haven’t had any issues. I had two calls out and both of them came within a day and were professional and handled the business and left.

AHS's website is very good and the program is working well. We have an older house and it seems like there is always stuff going on with it. We had a water heater that wasn’t firing up and On Time Plumbing came out. I wasn’t there, but my wife took care of it. She said that the contractor was very professional. He was wearing a mask, which we appreciated, and he fixed it within 20 minutes. We couldn’t be any happier. The experience was effortless. I really like that when I place a request in for something to get fixed, AHS follows up that evening, if not the first thing in the morning. They tell me when a tech is coming out. The quick response is everything for me.

It was about two weeks since I called Home Shield. The AC wasn't working, the contractor came, checked the unit, and said that the pump for the fan wasn't working. So, they came and they changed that. But then four hours after the guy left, the AC went off again. I called them the next day, they came the following day and the guy checked it and said the compressor wasn't working. So now, we have to get a compressor. The guy came today, changed the compressor, and he said the fan isn't working. So, the motor for the fan that supposedly the guy changed the first time isn't working.

The tech was very professional. He called me, showed me what he was doing and what he had to change, and even the wiring system and when he attached the compressor. He said, "Look at these wires. They're old." He changed all the wiring, everything that needed to be changed. Unfortunately, he has to tell his company now that they have to get another motor for the fan out to the house.

The guy came today, put on the compressor and the refrigerant, and he said it's still not working. The motor for the fan isn't working. He said even when the guy changed that part, which I thought he did, it's not working. Home Shield had to know by now. The guys may put on this motor now, tomorrow, whenever they come, and it may go bad again. It's an old system. The parts that the old system used is an R22 and they're not making those parts again. And the thing is they're not making this system again. So why go through this? Come here, fix one part, then next, they come back, it's not working. This is the third time that they came to change something on the AC.

The guy said, if it's a motor that the guy changed the first time, he said it looked as if it could be a new thing, but it was not working. So he had to put in a part. He said sometimes he takes them out of a new box and he put it on, and the same thing, it's not working. The first time when the guy came, he went in, looked at the system and then he went upstairs and said, "The fan isn't working." So, he had to go change that, then he would see if the other part is running as it was supposed to run.

Home Shield should have gone through and just changed the whole system. Now, I have to pay $755 out of pocket, not for the compressor, but for refrigerant locking caps and custom modification, which they said was in my contract. Nobody told me about this out of pocket when I signed the contract. I paid $755 plus the service, so that's worth $1,000. But we could do an upgrade with Home Shield and get a new system for half the price. I pay them to fix or repair. So them coming out to tell me, "Upgrade with American Home Shield" and pay close to $4,000 out of pocket for a new system is not what they advertised.

The only issue I had was that they asked for detail on what we thought was happening. But when the tech came out, he didn’t bring a part with him. The work was delayed for five days until he could get the part. These guys should carry some parts. We told AHS what kind of a dryer it was, but it didn't matter. Overall, we’re very satisfied. I've used American Home Shield a few times and every situation is different. Sometimes, it goes smoothly, and sometimes, it takes a while. Right now, I have a claim in for a ceiling fan, and it's been almost two months and it's still not fixed. Also, the refrigerator was not cooling all the way. It wouldn’t go below 55 degrees and I had it set at 33. The technician from Carlos Kata Appliance Repair came out and said that the fan wasn’t working. One of the little strips on the door was broken so he fixed that. After he left, it still didn’t cool down so I called him and he looked at it. He was not sure what it was. He had his thermometer in there and it wasn’t cooling the same, past the 55 or so.

He said he was gonna have to call American Home Shield to get the permission to take the fridge to his shop. I told him that I've read that sometimes unplugging the refrigerator for 24 hours and then plugging it back in works. He told me that I could try that and let him know. I did that and it didn’t make any difference. I called him to let him know and he said that he would get ahold of American Home Shield and find out what to do next, and I haven’t heard back yet. I talked to him on Friday, and he said that he had emailed American Home Shield, and he was gonna contact me when he heard back from the company. American Home Shield should get better contractors. The vendors that they use are not very good.

They had to order the part, and it took about two weeks to get it. They kept me abreast of what was going on as far as the part not coming in yet. Then, the techs came out timely and it took them about 30 minutes to get the part in. Everything was good. I was very satisfied with the contractor. What I like about having American Home Shield is the timeliness in once I call and submit a claim to get someone out to repair.

The contractor was kind and listened well. It sounded a bit strange that in the HVAC world, there were no foot coverings, gloves, or masks in our current world. But it didn’t bother me. The other people we had wore the standard foot coverings to walk through our house. AHS should cover what is now old coolant known as Freon, but we knew that it wasn’t covered ahead of time. It was a $900 expense on top. Submitting claims has been easy. You just go click on what it is, then a day or two later, someone replies, and you get an email. Crystal Air was great. They came and identified that Violin Heating & Air, the people that American Home Shield sent out prior, didn’t know what they were doing, put in non-compatible equipment as well as installed it wrong. So, I paid them almost $3,000 for work that did not work. So, when Crystal Air came out and told me the problem, they said they don’t work on specialized zoning like what I would need, but they do know what the problem is. I went ahead and called a company out of the paper and I found somebody who came out and verified exactly what Crystal Air said. The guy gave me an affidavit in writing, and I went and stopped payment on my credit cards to Violin after calling them a dozen times, leaving messages, texting them, requesting them to come out and fix the problem that they started.

I was texting their service tech at one point, and I said, “Look, if you’re not gonna come out and fix it, then I’ll charge it back, and I’ll give the file to my attorney.” He replied, “Don’t threaten me.” I said, “I’m not threatening you. I’m telling you that I paid for a service that doesn’t work, and if you’re not gonna fix it, then I will dispute it, and we’ll deal with it that way. That’s not a threat. That’s a promise.” So, bottom line, I went ahead and did that with my credit card company last week on both accounts. I would highly put Violin on suspect and recommend that American Home Shield remove them as a vendor because they’re awful. I called their office, I left messages on the manager’s phone and the rep's phone. The rep responded. The manager never got back to me, never called me, and never replied.

I’m overall happy with American Home Shield. My issue is I paid them three times to have Violin come back to fix the problem that they never fixed right in the first place, and that doesn’t seem fair because I’m paying $75, $75, $75 for nothing. But other than that, for the most part, I find American Home Shield does what they’re supposed to do. I just think they really need to work on the vendors because the vendors are taking advantage of people, and not many people have the resources I do to say, “Okay, you wanna play that way? We could deal with it.”

The AC wasn't working at all. Best Care Home Services came out and they had to replace the coils. When they first did the estimate, the guy said, "You got a leak in your air conditioner outside. It's not capped off and it's leaking Freon." He went upstairs and said, "You're gonna have to get your coil replaced and this is the price." He gave the estimate. When the guy came out to do the work, it was the exact same amount that he quoted. In addition to that, he said, if I wanna get all the air conditioners replaced, this would be the price. He said it was gonna take about an hour and a half and it took exactly an hour and a half.

He also saw where someone had done some work previously and did not actually do something in terms of connecting something off, so he went ahead and did that. He said he did that because inspectors inspect their work because they have to pull a permit. He said they pull the permit to do the work on my home. He didn't want the inspector to think that he did a shoddy job. So, he did everything. It was very professional and very timely. I have no complaints. If I ever needed to use American Home Shield again, I would highly request Best Care. AHS does what they say as well. If something goes out, a light or an electrical socket, they take care of it.

Air Design AC & Heating was the contractor and they contacted me the next morning. They came out the same day too. This happened last week. The contractor was great and professional. They did what they had to do and were in and out. It's been a great experience and I'd use American Home Shield again.

I used to have another home warranty and they were absolutely fabulous. Then I got American Home Shield and they don't understand that they're outsourcing their customer service overseas, and it is absolutely horrific. You can't even get anything done. My oven has been broken since December 11th and ABC Appliance came out five times in three months but they were not able to repair it. The tech said American Home Shield needed to assign somebody else to replace it and he left. I explained to American Home Shield that the previous year we had replaced all the computer parts and even this gentleman said, "I have no idea. I'm just replacing parts. 'Cause this whole entire oven looks brand-new." So they said they were gonna send another guy out. I told them it was fine.

Accord Appliance sent me a text that they would like to schedule but for some reason, they got it confused with this agency was supposed to be fixing my refrigerator. So they never came out for the oven. I called American Home Shield to tell them that it has been six to eight weeks and nobody was coming out. But they told me that they closed the claim. I asked them why did they close it? They never sent anybody out and they've never fixed it. Then the guy said he would reopen it and send Accord back out. I told him okay and then I get charged another $100 for the deductible when the first person never repaired it. So I was pissed because I got charged.

The gentleman came out and he said he could turn it on and get it to go hot. I told him that if he opened up the cabinet and looked at all the screws that the previous mechanic left, he never even put this oven back in. It was just pushed in. Then he said it was getting hot and he told me that he was gonna tell American Home Shield that he could see it was getting hot, but it was intermittent and he needed to find out what it doesn't do. He told me to take a video of it.

I turned the oven on and waited for it to pre-heat. It took so long to pre-heat that I've made my entire banana nut bread and it was still not hot. So I pre-heat it, put all the banana nut bread in, and then I turned the video on and the dash display showed that it has been on for an hour. Then I turned it off and I went to reset it. It stated that it was not at 425, but it was at 285. So everything was raw. I baked a lasagna for two hours and I stuck my finger in it because it never got hot.

I called back American Home Shield five times, but it seemed like they always answered after 22 to 45 minutes. I argued with the lady that she would charge me $100, but she was just submitting it. I called back again and this lady named Katie appeared to be in the Philippines and she was a sweetheart. She reversed the $100 and then said she would reach out to the appliance people. But the appliance man said, "You know, I'm sitting here looking at videos. I can see that a video that this oven has been going for an hour and a half and you pull a cake out and it's liquid inside." I told him that I was showing him five videos of evidence that after a long time, it did not sustain heat. He said that I have to call KitchenAid or replace it. It was almost gonna be six months and I still do not have a working oven.

I reached out to American Home Shield and I've sent them things. There's nothing on their website that allows you to send an email to them. You either have to call and wait on hold, which sends you overseas. There's no way that you can get an American-based customer service person that can make decisions. It's ridiculous. Also, they won't transfer you to a manager. I had to walk them through because they made me crazy. But at least Katie was good. Some of their employees are good. But it's not logical after you've had seven service calls that if they can't fix it, why aren't they replacing it?

Once we put in a claim for something to be fixed, it was within the next couple of days that they had a contractor out here to get the work done. It was really simple to use. You can do it online and you can call too. I've always had really great experience with anybody that's called or I've had to call to set up work to be done. When I had a plumbing issue, the contractor who came did an excellent job. He was very professional and was clean. He made sure that there was no further leakage. He fixed everything.

The guy from GE Appliances who came out for the final time troubleshot the microwave, went out to his truck, got a new part, stuck it in there, tested it out, and it worked perfectly. We haven't had any trouble since then. He spent around 45 minutes here. He was very professional and did an excellent job. Other contractors may know how to work on a GE in a manner. But, this guy works for GE. He came out here and bada bing bada boom, he got it done. I don't know what the other guys missed that he saw. The repair didn't seem like it was that difficult to me because the tech just replaced the part behind where you punch the keypads on a microwave. It was all burnt out. I liked the amount of items AHS covers and their response time back. It all depends on what's going on in the area, but for the most part, they've been pretty good about getting to the house within a 24-hour time frame.

When I recommend American Home Shield, I use my own story and tell people what was going on and how much I pay. People always feel they don't want to pay that much money, but I tell them what I was able to get out of it in the long run. Recently, D & G Garage Doors came to correct the problem and it was good. They also showed me where the problem was and moving forward, I should be able to correct it if it's the same problem.

I also used American Home Shield before in a previous job and it was A Action Heating and I didn't get the best service. They didn't do a good job the first couple of trips. They came three times, and the first two times, they didn't do anything. On the third time, I called Home Shield and they told them they had to come back and fix it. They came back and fixed it, so I didn't have problems with it but it's not 100%. On top of that, I spoke to them on a Wednesday to try to get them to come and visit on a Friday and they charged me a weekend fee, so they could come and see me on Monday. I didn't understand why I had to pay, but unfortunately, it was the wintertime and we needed somebody there. Otherwise, I would have to wait a week.

I called American Home Shield and they got on top of that and had them refund me because they said they weren't supposed to charge me. However, they only sent me a $33 check and not the whole 57 and change for their overnight special. They were the only bad experience I had and that's one of the places I won't use if I ever call Home Shield and they have them come to my house. All in all, I'm using Home Shield for two homes and they are very timely. I like the vendors that they send out too. It's convenient and I've been satisfied.

I wish AHS would have someone come out to do a quick check-up of the system and it wouldn't be a warranty claim. Then they would recommend service. Or if the person is already there for service, they take an extra minute to do a brief system check. It's something that would probably be cheaper, in the long run, as long as they're out there to service something, then do a quick check of it rather than wait for something to fail. I wouldn't mind paying for that service because I would rather have something preventative than have it fail.

We were worried that it would cause greater damage. My wife submitted a request to have that checked out and the technician was able to come out very quickly. He showed up on time and it was excellent. He said there was a leak, but he was able to repair that that same day. My wife thought it was fantastic. Although there was still a lot of room for improvement, overall, it was a very smooth process. They reached out on the same day. Then the plumber reached out before the end of the day. I’m very pleased with American Home Shield. Being a new homeowner here in Georgia, we decided to go with American Home Shield because my brother-in-law right in the corner has it, and quite a few other people have it too. They were very satisfied with it, so we decided to try them. And we’ve been with them ever since.

The only problem that I’m having, I have a stove that is constantly giving me problems to the point it was giving off gas. We called the fire department, they came in and checked everything, and we had to turn it off. And that stove continuously gives us problems. But the last time someone came out here, we were told that if we had any other problems, to let them know and they will replace it. ‘Cause we’ve had this done several times, service people had to come out and try to fix it.

We’ve had other minor things and called them and they came out. And they’ve always come through for us. As soon as this problem was detected and Charles have called, they came right on out. I like the fact that we don’t have to try to get on the telephone in trying to find someone to come and fix something. American Home Shield does that for us. ‘Cause we have been burned before by calling people, and they come out but they were not reputable at all. Other than that, we are very happy with them.

American Home Shield used to be fair many years ago when we signed on. Now, not only do they outsource to countries with language barriers, they contract with inept companies unqualified and accept their inflated/padded costs to compensate for the profit loss going through AHS. I’d already researched different brands and installation costs, so knew CNJ was trying to charge for installing components covered by AHS by replacing the verbiage to “modification costs”. After reading CNJ’s F ratings, I requested AHS a second opinion, which the contract says is allowed. They Denied a second request. Because I questioned CNJ to explain how their $595 extra fees were legitimate, They refuse to service my water heater and told me to request a second opinion from AHS. “Customers do it all the time. It’s allowed by AHS...” as I was quoting the rude girl I spoke with at CNJ.

This company should have their licenses taken away! CNJ Is a JOKE! Sadly, AMERICAN HOME SHIELD WARRANTY is just as fraudulent allowing and agreeing to illegal padded costs on so called modifications which are components that are covered under our AHS contract. I had two plumbers come out to give estimates on a new water heater, comparing apples to apples. Plus, I called the manufacturing companies of Rheem, A.O. Smith and Bradford White water heaters. I also called seven local plumbing companies for estimates and if they charged for components necessary to hook up the new water heater. They All told me the same thing. Components should be included in the price of installation if they are not changing the size or type of the water heater.

We have a 50 gallon gas tank and replacing it with the same type. CNJ and AHS are claiming these are modifications because our old tank is before the 2015 Government Energy Efficiency Code requirements. They think customers are dumb enough to fall for this. I checked with these new codes and it has nothing to do with components, but the tanks themselves. Whether you’re replacing a two year tank or a twenty two year old tank, it’s just good plumbing to replace components when renewing the tank and should always be included as standard installation costs.

I had to finally contact CNJ that AHS assigned to us, to come out. When I got their $600 extra fees charges on components, I demanded a second opinion from AHS as our contract states is allowed. They DENIED me that right. Then, CNJ refused to contact me because I questioned and refused to pay unless they could explain how their inflated costs were legitimate. The rude girl told me to call AHS and request a second opinion, that’s what people are allowed to do because they refuse to service me! Both AHS and CNJ should be investigated by the Attorney General, my next contact along with BBB!

It has been eight or nine times that the refrigerator was fixed. Home Shield has given me a hard time about it. They keep telling me that if it's fixable, then it needs to be fixed. The first contractor came six times back-to-back and the poor guy said he didn't know what else to do. He called KitchenAid, which is the company of the refrigerator. And when he was finally done, he said he changed everything. I literally have a brand new refrigerator. He changed the motherboard, the sensors, and the liquid to keep the cold. He even changed something on the freezer on the back and the little balls that roll the doors. So, he told me I should be fine. But if the fridge broke again, he would go ahead and let Home Shield know. He let them know that time but Home Shield said, "Well, just fix it and then see what happens."

So it broke again, and then he came one more time and he said, "I really don't know what it is" because he tested the motherboard and it was good. He said he would just go ahead and change the motherboard. He would order a new one and change it and see if that does the trick. I told him, "I thought you said it's good and it doesn't need to be changed." He said, "Yeah, but I don't know what else it can be." So, he ordered that, got it, replaced it, and again, the refrigerator worked for a little while and then it broke again.

And the last time, he didn't come back anymore. It was a different guy but the same company. He was like, "I don't know. I'm just gonna go ahead and change the motherboard." Now, it's a different company. I told him what happened and then he said, "Do you have a history?" I said no. I went to my account with Home Shield to see if I could track it. I just couldn't see it. Because I'm working so I was backing off from the computer to go to him. He said he might ask, and he showed me.

The guy told me what he was gonna do and I said, "Oh, that was the first thing that the guy changes. So that has been changed about a year ago." He said, "It shouldn't have broke already. How's that go?" The first company that I had, the motherboard was the first thing that was changed. Then he said, "Well, I had to change it. It's odd that it went out within a year." He changed it and that was it. It's working and it always does. Every time someone touched it, whatever it is, it works. Three to four months and it breaks again. The gentleman said that if this time the fridge goes out, because that was the second time the motherboard was changed, he said he would just go ahead and claim it. It's just becoming too much. On top of all those $75 every time, it's the food. Everything got bad. I could just go ahead and buy a new one. Not like that but something that's smaller and old-school that would last longer. I'm hoping for the best.

One day, I have the microwave which is a combo with the oven. But only the microwave went out. I didn't know what it was. But at the same time, I have electrical power. Half of my house went out, which included the kitchen. Maybe when the power went off, something happened on the microwave. So I called Home Shield and the contractor came and fixed it. The unit was KitchenAid as well. The tech told me, "I don't really know because the oven is working and the microwave is not. If it was power-related, it should be the whole thing." So, he just changed the computer system or something on the microwave and it worked. That’s brand new, so I don't know what happened. But the guy that came and fixed the refrigerator was very nice and professional.

I've been wanting to change my warranty provider for several times but I don't have the time to actually look for another one and see. I've been with Home Shield for so long. I have two properties with them. I have a rental home and every time the contractors go to it, I don't know what it is, whether if it was because I’m not there or if it was the renters, but I have issues. Then I have to pay out of pocket for some things because Home Shield won't cover them. But that’s with my older property.

It was pretty quick to submit a claim with American Home Shield. I've had them for two years now and I've only had to use them twice. The first one was for the icemaker problems that we had. It took them a little bit to come out and do the fix but as far as this last call, it was fantastic. The techs from Valley Comfort that came out to fix our unit were very professional, quick, and very knowledgeable on what was going on. They also had masks on.

AAction did what they said they were going to do. They came out, inspected the AC and found a wire or something messed up. The tech took me outside and showed it to me, and then he repaired it. It’s running like a charm. But what surprised me was they came out quicker than most. Also, the tech was masked up and gloved up. They did good.

Home Shield has been first class. If you got a question, you call and ask, like if you’re not sure about the company that they will send out. They would tell you what you needed to know, get the number for you if you misplaced it. It means a lot if you got a problem and you call in. They’re Johnny-on-the-spot. They take care of it. And the people that they sent out are knowledgeable. Home Shield should keep doing what they’re doing. They're good.

My next-door neighbor got a contract with Home Shield. I told him that I had to get some and he told me to go get Home Shield. I said I’ve heard negative things about them and he said, “Nah. Look, they're pretty good.” So, I asked how much is it a month. And then I said, "By the time I start to use it...", and he asked me what if something happens and it costs me way more than that? So, he had me thinking. He sold me even after I heard negative things and I’m glad I listened to him. And once I did, Home Shield has been fantastic.

I submitted my claim over the phone and went through a live person. I’m old school. I always like interacting, regardless if it’s bad, good, or indifferent. I hate the automated stuff. The initial issue was my faucet in the kitchen, my bath, my commode, and the upstairs commode itself, and then the two-faucet in my bathroom because they were recurring a leak. I had it done back in October, but that went over my 60 days. They had started messing up, the same exact thing that they did before. It was still leaking. It started leaking back within that 60 days, but I had to order another faucet from Delta. And then that came in and All American Plumbing fixed it, but since I already had another one, they just replaced that. And then the outside faucet, so it was three faucets. All American Plumbing was awesome. Eric was pretty good. My wife and I are well pleased with American Home Shield.

I called in my claim to the IVR system. Because of the type of repair, the contracting company needed to get ahold of me to schedule the appointment. And then, Expert Pools called a few hours later. The timer broke on the pool pump so they had to replace it. The tech knew right away what was wrong, had all the tools to diagnose it and had the parts on his truck. Also, he was exceptionally pleasant, in this time, wearing masks and talking six feet apart. He said, “Yeah, I’m replacing this whole thing ‘cause it needs it.” He also said, “I checked your electrical and you’ve got plenty of current coming to it, so there’s no reason for it not to work.” So, he didn't try to make it more than what it was. It was just a simple timer. I’m extremely satisfied.

I was having trouble with my freezer. I have a refrigerator freezer, and it makes a buzzing sound like something is fixing to blow up. I've called American Home Shield in four times about this and they sent Del's out here and then they come out here and say they write up about the refrigerator. I said I wasn't having any trouble with the refrigerator. I'm having trouble with the freezer. So, I woke up one day and don't have no freezer.

Del's worked on the refrigerator. They said that I had a water leak, so they repaired that. And then my dishwasher was acting up. They came out and said they couldn't install a dishwasher because I had a leak under the sink. Another guy came out, said he was some kind of technician, and he said there was no leak under the sink. So, they came back and put the dishwasher in. They're beating around the bush and I'm really getting tired. It was about three times in one month that they sent somebody out here. Each time they come out here, they charge me $100. I called the insurance company and told them that I'm having a problem. They said that they will get somebody out here to check on it. When somebody came out here to check on it, they started working on the refrigerator. When they got through and left, the noise is still in the freezer.

They told me that they have a part on order now. They said that when they order this parts, it is gonna cut this noise out. I called in the latter part of March and told them I was having trouble with this noise in my freezer. They've been coming out and doing stuff on the refrigerator. They said it was a part they ordered because I can't get any water out, and they said that they can't replace that. I started with American Home Shield in January. I had Sears and they were acting up, so I fired them. My daughter recommended AHS because she used it and she has a sister that used it also. But I'm disappointed with AHS.

American Home Shield said because it is a violation, American Home Shield would not cover that, and I was left to pay that for myself. So, I agreed to that. I had a broken pipe that's in my yard. The tech from Plumbers Inc. took a picture of it and he said he was going send it to Home Shield to get verification that he can fix it because I have a mud puddle in my yard. That was Monday. I told him, "Well, no matter what, it has to be fixed." So, I've been waiting for him to send the pictures to Home Shield, for them to say okay and for him to call and make an appointment. He was very nice. He said he would be the one to come back and fix it, but it would probably be a day or two and I'm still waiting. I know everybody's running short staff right now.

Home Shield should get the plumber out here and fix my leak. When I call them, within usually a few days, the guys that they refer are out and take care of whatever it is. It took me a while to get in touch with them because they're working on short staff. When I got the email from them giving me the plumber's information, they contacted me within 24 hours or I could call and set up an appointment. I tried that and I didn't reach anybody, and then they called me the next day. But other than that, I like Home Shield. I've had them for years. I tell all my neighbors about them.

The service people from Contra Costa were great, but I have been on the phone with American Home Shield on each occasion, waiting over an hour to get through to get this dishwasher installed. One call was an hour and forty-five minutes until I finally got through with a representative. They gave me a claim number and they assigned it to someone. That person told me they were out of my service area. Then after probably four occasions of being on hold for over an hour, I got a call from AHS saying, "We’re gonna send you the money, $125, find your own person to install because we can’t find someone." I asked them on that call, “Why can't you just send that contractor that came because he told me he would come back?” They told me I was on my own, but then I asked when was I gonna get the money and I didn’t want to sit on the phone for another hour waiting to talk to someone.

I even went through the system in a different way with American Home Shield and got a representative on the phone a little more rapidly. But then they told me I had to contact the number that put me on hold for an hour. It was so ridiculous. They loop the same music and it’s not even a song. I felt like I was traumatized by what the sound of what they made me to be on hold. It was an awful experience. Every time I've called in the past, I have never experienced this. I do understand that there are some issues because of COVID, but I've had to wait for an hour and forty-five minutes and they don’t even put music on there. Then every once in a while, they have this voice saying, “We’ll be with you in whatever amount of time.”

Finally, I called up the original company that did the install and gave them the dispatch number. They emailed American Home Shield, and then I just got approved to get it installed on Monday. But I had to call the previous company who they did not give the job to. They gave it to a person who can't service my area. It’s unbelievable. That particular contractor, Contra, did their job. It was a fantastic experience with the actual contractor. In fact, I called that actual contractor after this runaround and they were the ones that cleared this up through email where I didn’t have to sit on the phone, and they were now doing the install. So, I had to reach out to them. The contractor was A plus.

American Home Shield needs to change the way that their system is. If they want to have customers be satisfied then, don’t waste their time. Our time is valuable, too. I value having a warranty and the fact that they replaced my dishwasher. It’s sitting in the garage right now and has been there for almost a week. So, bottom line is I do value the service. I’m highly disappointed in the communication.

Then it said I should expect a contractor within 24 to 48 hours. RJ Wiggins Company was there on time. The tech was great. The circuit seems to be functioning fine, thankfully. Then I called them back and told them that the pump timer was not working at all. I took pictures of it because my pool guy had told me. I have the pictures I took before, during, and after where the one was not working.

They sent the guy back out and he replaced my sleeper timer. I asked why he did that. I told him to look in their records and he did that probably last. I called the company back and said that their guy replaced the part that had been replaced. I specifically said it was my pump timer. I offered to send pictures and they didn't need that. They sent him out the next day and fixed it and I never heard from them again. We just had a little misunderstanding and I don’t know if it was between the warranty company and the service provider, or the service provider to the technician. But in the end, everything got fixed.

Ever since we’ve had repairs done for the pool, they’ve sent me Reflection Pools. I know the girl on the phone and I know the guy that comes to my house. He’s really quick to dismiss whatever. It usually ends up in they call me and tell me they’re coming, and I tell them exactly what’s wrong. He comes out and he looks at it, and it’s always that they gotta get the part and come back the next day. If I go and tell them what’s wrong, can’t they bring the part with them so it’s one-and-done? That’s a little frustrating for me. Sometimes, they don’t listen. I don’t know if it’s a they or a he. One time, I had asked them in the past to send somebody other than Willie. They said that he's their best one and he’s in our area. I agreed since they said he's their best. Nevertheless, their service has been fine overall.

I like having one place to call and get things taken care of. Sometimes, it takes a couple of days. But usually, if it’s an emergency, I can tell AHS. Like our AC that just went out a couple of weeks ago. I have health issues, and so does my husband, plus this COVID. I told them that I really needed somebody that day. It was hot and humid, and there was all the pollen. I could not go the whole weekend without my AC. They sent somebody out that same day.

We got American Home Shield when we bought our first home and moved it over to this one three years ago. We've been with them for probably 25 years. I hear people complain about them. I don’t understand what they’re saying because I have not had a problem. Sometimes we don’t agree with the coverage, but they do take care of it and it’s prompt. We’ve saved a lot of money with it. We thought the pool pump was going out, but it wasn’t. Texas A-1 Pool & Spa didn’t do anything to it. It was doing something but when they came out here, it’s working fine and it has been since. They were very nice and on time, though.

The only thing I probably would complain about AHS is their program answering. Sometimes it’s very hard to get through. It takes a while on hold sometimes, too. I try to do it 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning before everybody else gets up and I go through. But I do go to their website especially to check what’s covered. We’ve told a lot of people they should go with AHS, and some have.

Our heat pump stopped working. We had no heat in our house. So we filed our claim online. The tech came out, replaced a couple parts, couldn’t diagnose the problem, but he thought he knew where the gremlin was hiding. So he went back to Springfield and he ordered the parts. He came back about two weeks later. Luckily, we had some portable heaters. He found that the actual problem was in the motherboard of the heat control system and he replaced that. Since then, we haven’t had a single issue. He was a phenomenal guy. If we ever have anything going with our AC or heating again, we’re gonna request him to come up because he did a really phenomenal job.

I was without electricity. We’re dealing with 100-plus temperatures. I asked Bill of Bill Richards Electric how soon could he do it, but he said he couldn’t do it for at least a week to three weeks. He was very upfront and honest. He said, “I wish I could do this tomorrow for you, but we’re just so backed up.” And he had to had just let some people go and they had doubled the work. So, I said, “Okay.” He did a great job and explained everything to me. He explained that I needed some type of permit, that whatever they had to do, it had to go underground and a permit was needed. So, I called back and let them know. And they said they would contact another electrical company and that person contacted me and said it would be five to seven days before they could get out because they were backed up, too.

At that point, my pool guy was here. He said he knew an electrician and he would see what he could he do. My whole electrical panel was blown out. I had no electricity in the house whatsoever. The guy came over and said that he could try to get the permit within the end of the day, which is around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, because he knew somebody in the permit office. About an hour later, he said, “Hey, I got your permit. Do you want me to submit a bid for this?” I said, “Well, I have no electricity. I got to do something.” So, he gave me the bid and I agreed to it. I ended up paying out of pocket, 1,675, and my electricity was restored the next morning. So, I stayed with no electricity in my house. The next morning, the tech came in and he had everything up and running by 2 o’clock the next day.

I sent an email to Home Shield regarding that, but I sent it to a privacy email and I got an automated email back saying, “This is the Privacy Department,” because I didn’t know where to send an explanation of what had happened. I went to their website and the only thing I saw was a privacy and some other type of email to send something to. I didn’t have an individual, so I sent it to that. I was waiting. I was going to call today to see who I could talk to about that. I don’t know if there’s any type of reimbursement I can get since I had to have my electricity on.

With COVID going on and all that, electricians and AC people are probably backed up. I totally understand that with their schedules, they can’t. Maybe somebody was able to. Home Shield has a pool of 5, 7, 10 people but I need to get my electricity on because I have food. So, when my pool guy recommended someone, I was happy with the 1,675 bill. The original guy told me I was looking anywhere between $2,300 and $3,000 to have my entire panel replaced. In my head, 1,675 was a good price, so I went with that.

I’ve had two repairs in the year that I’ve had this house and Home Shield sent somebody out. Both times were good. My first one was for something else, but it was taken care of right away. And then this one, Home Shield had somebody out here fast. It is just that unfortunately, they couldn’t do it within a week or so. It was an emergency situation which I wish I could have had one of their people do it. But it didn’t happen. When your whole electrical panel blows out, it stinks. But other than that, Home Shield has been great.

It fixed the problem and it was a good experience.

We got this protection because we bought the house in August of last year and within the first three months, I didn't know a tub could start leaking and actually flake away, but fiberglass can flake away so our tub had to go. We had to replace the bathroom, the washer and dryer, the dishwasher and the microwave. And then after, I looked into Home Shield for the rest of the appliances because everyone told us, they're made to last around 10 to 15 years and then they're going to start breaking. And the house is exactly 15 years old. That is exactly what we experienced.

I flipped the garbage disposal's switch on like I always do and it wasn't taking anything down. There was just a very low hum, not like actually running anything through it. And then a day later, we started to get major backup so water was coming up through both sides and we had to empty the drain with our hands because the food was just sitting in the bottom. It was depressing.

I submitted a claim online. It was easy to pick the item that needed to be addressed. And once I put that information in, I got an email from Home Shield the very next day. But then I heard from the person that was gonna come out and address it. Plumbing Enterprises called ahead, said when they would be there, and were there when they said they would. Very professional. And in this point in time, it's important to wear a mask and keep your hands sanitary, not touch a lot of things, and he did all that, so we're very happy with the service.

The garbage disposal is working perfectly fine now. No more bubbling water and nasty stuff coming back up so it’s all good. The tech changed it out. He said that ours was bad. It's over 15 years old, he said. It lasted a good amount of time. We also had the ice maker serviced when it broke. We had to put in a call for the it right after the disposal. So we've been very happy with the coverage.

And within 24 hours, I usually get a call of who's coming out and when they're coming out and it has been really good. We had a refrigerator that had issues and Home Shield did their best to fix it. Perhaps because it was an older model, they couldn't get some parts. But they got it fixed. I recently put a thing out for our warranty company because we couldn't get the air conditioner to turn on or the fan to even click on. I tried to submit my claims online but the website wouldn’t let me. It said it doesn’t recognize my membership number. H-Plumbing came out and the tech was very nice and professional. He found the problem, which was me. The shower is elaborate and I didn’t know that at the faucet, you have to push this little round thing on the inside of the faucet to make the shower work. I’m 67 years old and I’ve never seen one like that. It’s $75 to find out how to work the faucet. I really didn’t need the guy. It was a waste of time and money. I wish I'm able to speak to the contractors before they come out. That’s what the plumber said. If I had just called and talked to a plumber, they could have told me what to do.

The other claim was terrible too. My dryer worked but it wouldn’t heat. But then, it turned out it wasn’t the dryer at all. It was my electrical panel. The tech walked over to the electrical panel, pushed it, and said, “Well, that’s your problem.” However, he couldn't touch the panel. I have to call out a electrician for that. It didn’t take the guy five minutes and he was out of here. He pulled my dryer and my washing machine out to get behind them and when he left, he left them there. He didn’t put them back. I did the dryer, then the plumbing, and now I got to do the electrical. I spent almost $300 for those things. If it’s something minor, it should not cost that much.

They said, "All you have to do just pay $36 a month, we'll just do the $36 and you'll be fine." So, I could afford that. I like that I can call and they are very attentive in helping and getting somebody there. I also like that they are in the United States. When you call, they are not out of the country. Because out of the country, you have to double-talk. I'm a senior citizen and they are very understanding in what I'm saying because they come back and repeat, "This is the reason you're calling."

When my garbage disposal was not working, the electrician from J & T Investment came out. He was nice and courteous, but he did not do the switch. So, that costed me to pay another $100 for the plumber to come out to hit the reset switch. The electrician should have hit the reset switch to see if that was the problem. It should not have been two trips. It should have just been one.

The AC system was not cooling the home when it was reading on the panel on the thermostat. The temperature actually in the home was not compatible. It was very hot although the unit was still on. The Lane Services technician came out and repaired it. I didn’t have any difficulties submitting claims. Once I called American Home Shield, they’re very good about getting someone out.

It may be something that AHS can’t do, but it would work better if I could get the same company to come out when I have a service call. Whenever a new company comes out, in reference to anything, if it’s been repaired before even if it was last year, I have to start the process all over. That wastes the tech's time or it takes more service calls. I would recommend having the same contractor come out if they can. It's the best way to tackle any issue that goes down in a home that they’re continuously serving. I have a pool and whenever they send someone out they’ll send a new contractor out, and that person is not familiar with the unit and they have to fumble through it a couple of times before they get it right. They mess up so I have to continue to call in a service request.

You submit a claim online and they send you a confirmation right away. They then assign you a contractor right away and that person will text you almost immediately, like within a couple of hours of you submitting the claim. You schedule your appointment with that person directly and they come out. You don’t know who it is in advance.

I’ve had three plumbing calls and I’ve had three different plumbers. Everybody that AHS ever sent to my house has been fantastic. I was able to schedule the service right with the contractor. I had a gas pipe that was going into the kitchen that the elbow was rusting out and the gas shut-off was hard to turn. It was an easy process when I made the request, but on the website, it's a little more prickly if you go to a trade and you have to do multiple items in a trade. One instance was plumbing. It only allowed me to select four items that I had problems with, but I had five at that time, so I did the four on the website. The plumber called me after it got assigned and I told him all the things that were wrong including the one that I wasn’t able to list. He came out, did the job, but he didn’t do one of the ones that I had told him about over the phone. Come to find out, it had to be requested before the contractor came out to do their initial inspection and I could always call to add things on.

Unbeknownst to me, I had to call back and set up another callback for something that I had already reported to the plumber. The plumber didn’t tell that there was a problem, that I had to call before he came out to get it added onto the order. I ended up calling American Home Shield and complaining to them. Before that, one of the claims was denied at that time because it was for the kitchen sink, and the basket trap wasn’t covered. I took it out and did it myself and when I got into it I found out that it was the sink that was the problem, not the trap. There was rust around the sink and American Home Shield was going to send somebody else out to look at it.

I got introduced to the 911 people and when I set up the callback to do a secondary inspection of the sink, I asked if the hose bibb that I was having problems with was added. This contractor said no, but I could call American Home Shield and have it added on before they came out, so some people know that rule, while some people don’t. As my first time with these people, I didn’t know that and nowhere on the website does it say to call if I wanted to add more reports in. American Home Shield was gonna charge me $75 for somebody to come out and do something that I had reported to the original plumber that he never told me about, but they waived that cost.

Keepin It Cool came out for a dryer claim with Home Shield and the service technician that showed up was clean and presentable. I felt like he was doing a thorough job. He replaced a fuse, put the thing back together again, and the thing started heating up. A couple of days later, I did a load of laundry and it ran for a tiny while. But it stopped working and I had to turn around and tried calling the tech directly. He told me that I had to resubmit on the website again and they would go through the steps to be able to come back out again. They did that and came back out. The same fuse had blown again and they replaced that, too. And it heated so, it was working fine. I agreed and he left.

That afternoon, I did a small-load laundry and it stopped working again. I went through the process again and he came back out. He said that it’s not the appliance and he believed that it was something in the vent that was causing it. I had my dryer vent cleaned about two weeks prior to this happening. I’ve been so busy at work that I have not been able to call back the cleaner of the dryer vent, but that’s what I’m going to do. This dryer claim is the second time I’ve ever had to put a claim in on an appliance. I also had a claim for an electrical and they came out and took care of that quickly. It was totally resolved on the same day. Home Shield is pretty prompt on coming out and servicing. And when I called them back, I felt like they were responsive.

Zerr Appliance Repair was great. The technician was really personable and he's got great customer service skills. He was really nice and he comes off very genuine. In fact, all of the contractors have been great. I'm waiting on one to call to me today. I put another order yesterday and I also got the thing saying that it's assigned yesterday. I even told a girlfriend about American Home Shield. She's buying a house in Brownwood and needs the home warranty, and the seller is paying for it. I told her everything has been great with the company and I've not had any issues. As a matter of fact, my renewal is coming up and I am gonna renew. So it's been a good experience.

E & A was very fast, prompt, and professional. The contractor kind of told me that the starter was not working and that he replaced it. He was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The AC unit wouldn't start and my husband tried to see if the blades were running. He pushed the blades with a small stick and it would run. But eventually, once it reached the thermostat, it wouldn't start again. When I purchased the house, I had to call someone and it was kinda annoying waiting on something. But AHS's response frame was pretty fast, which surprised me. I did everything online, didn't even have to talk to anyone. I was really impressed.

The tech was very knowledgeable and well-spoken. There were no games. I happen to be an engineer by trade, so I was prepared to have somebody come in and find numerous things wrong with a 3-year old Bosch dishwasher. It turned out to be a very small piece of glass stuck in the pump. From what I told him it was doing, he took it apart, found the problem, put it back together, and it worked fine. There was no calling a part bad so for somebody to come fix something without requiring parts shows a level of integrity that you don’t find in people servicing appliances.

This is a 28-year old home that I purchased almost a year ago. It's a very well-maintained one-owner piece of property. We made the sellers buy the first year of the warranty. I've had such good luck with American Home Shield that I’m considering renewing it when this term is up. It's a great service. I’d rate them a 5 and it’s very unusual for a Memphis, Tennessee company to get a 5-star rating.

I'm extremely disappointed with American Home Shield and that their email system is not monitored. I called in on or about April 12 for three separate claims that were electrical only. There was no HVAC or any of that. They were all covered under one service. I sent them and corporate documentation that on that date, April 12, I had paid the $75 fee through my American Express.

A gentleman with Bill Richards Electric came out and he fixed the issue with the ceiling fan that was indoors. The two other issues were in the garage and they were in close proximity to each other. I didn't know if there were electrical problems or not. One of them was a switch and it was a timer. It's next to the rear door and it controls my exterior garage light. The other was the control and the fan for my attic ventilation system that I've had since I built the house. The contractor had to replace the switch on that. They also had to replace the fan. They weren't getting power but the fan was burned out.

The contractor was fine. He came out with two other guys because one had to go into the attic to change out the fan. The other one was working in the garage at the electrical setup. It was within 10 inches of the other. The contractor himself worked in the house on taking care of the ceiling fan problem. They were very polite and I had absolutely no problem with them. The service was not rendered until April 28th. The service was planned for the previous week. The contractor called me in the morning and he had two guys call out sick. None of these was an emergency. During this COVID situation, I was more than accommodated.

But I wanna know why American Home Shield started sending me a notification on April 25th when the work had not even been done. When I had the service on April 28th, I went over all of this with the electrician. He was very nice and he agreed it was all one service. Why does AHS continue to send me a bill? Their online system is horrendous. They don't recognize the email address and the password. When you ask for a password change, you don't get an email response. I had no way of going into my account online. I figured I would just send my complaints by US mail. I don't know if the contractor notified AHS. I certainly didn't and I had no objections of moving him up a week. I wanted to be as accommodating as possible.

When I received the bill in the mail from AHS on April 30th, I shouldn't have had to send the same letter and the same justification and documentation. I sent a letter out to corporate and I sent a letter out to the payment services of corporate. I also sent a letter with the bill that I received on April 30th as well as the verification of the ticket to American Express. I completely asked for credit from American Express because they didn't have that stuff documented.

When the contractor first came, they told me that they’d come out and assess the situation, then they’d send someone to detect the leak, then they’d send someone to repair the leak. I asked how long the process would last and they couldn’t give me a clear-cut answer. The first plumber who came out and detected the leak refused to work. He also delayed the process by at least a week. I finally had to get my own plumber to get it fixed because their plumbers couldn’t come out as early, and the water was spreading to the dining room and living room area. It worked out very well for me in terms of the whole wooden floor in the dining area and living room area was buckled up just because of this delay. I was disappointed that AHS didn’t pay up the amount which was in the contract. They gave me some answers that this is what we had to do. Plus, I'm the one to pay up the whole thing.

I’ve had lots of furnace issues and the furnace is almost 30 years old. I don’t know why Home Shield doesn’t replace it. It’s inconvenient to have somebody come out once every couple of weeks, and then pay. I’m not happy about that at all. Home Shield said, “Well, as long as it can be fixed. We submitted a claim to AHS because there’s hot water coming out of the cold handle and scalding hot water coming out of the hot water handles. When we had them initially come out, they thought it was a boiler issue. Then the first boiler specialist came out from American Home Shield, they checked everything and said, the boiler’s fine.

Then the second boiler company came out with a second opinion to make sure that there wasn’t any issue with the piping or the plumbing coming out of the boiler. They said everything was fine and they made the recommendation that it has something to do with pipes. Grade A Plumbing came back out again. They spent time there, went through all of the plumbing and opened up the wall panels. And where I left off with them, after speaking with them yesterday was they had to order some part and they were gonna give me an update as to when the parts would arrive and when they could come out and fix the rest of the job.

I use the online tool when I submit a claim to AHS. I just push the button that says request. And then I try to fill out the information as much as possible. Sometimes what happens on the American Home Shield app is it forces you to select a category that might not be appropriate to the claim, and then I try to put it in the notes. And then when I speak with American Home Shield, I try to explain what the issue is.

Like in this instance, there was nothing to select as to say, “there’s hot water coming out of the tap.” It says, “No water,” or, “You don’t have hot water at all.” But there’s nothing that can identify and say, there’s hot water coming out of cold and scalding hot water. There’s nothing that says mismatched faucets. So, I tries to explain it before the service company came out each time. So if they say, “That’s not us. Don’t even waste our time,” I wanna be respectful of everyone’s time since I’m also a small business owner.

When I’m using the online app, everything is great. I get text messages, emails and exactly who’s coming out. And for the instance of the times where I have had to call customer service, I had to wait on the phone sometimes 20 minutes, which could be a little crazy. But then when someone picks up, even though it seems like English might be their second language, the last fellow that I spoke with did a phenomenal job of calling other companies and trying to get the problem solved and trying to take down the information and making sure that the contractor called back.

In general, so far, the contractors dispatched by AHS were good. We only had one company go out that gave a shady response where they were like, “We’re just gonna call AHS up and say ‘You have this problem’.” I was like, “No. Don’t tell them I need a new hot water heater just because you think it’s easier to put in a new hot water heater.” If there’s nothing wrong with the boiler then there’s nothing wrong with the boiler. Because that controls the heat in the house and also the hot water. I reported that to American Home Shield and that was why they sent a second boiler specialist out.

It has been a great experience with AHS. So far they come out. As a person on the other end, sometimes I'm listening to what the contractor tells me, which is way off base as far as what’s covered. Like the one fellow that wanted to replace the boiler with a hot water heater was telling me I owed him $4,000 and I had a limit to what was covered in my contract. But when I called American Home Shield, they went through everything with me and said that was inaccurate.

I had issues with my air conditioner so I got online and went through the Home Shield thing. I did everything online. I didn’t even talk to anyone, which was a first for me because I’m not usually comfortable with that. The claim went superbly. This is probably the easiest process I’ve experienced thus far. Online, I was asked if I was having issues and I clicked the appropriate boxes. A dropdown menu came up. I then pressed submit. Everything was scheduled for me. I got an email in a timely manner then a representative called me to tell me about my deductible.

The company that AHS chose, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas, immediately texted me and told me about the person who was coming out as well as the tentative time. 30 minutes from that tentative time, a gentleman called me up and told me he was gonna be in our area in 30 minutes to look at my AC unit. The guy showed up right on time. I let him in and he quickly identified what the issue was. He fixed it, had me sign a little digital device, and off he went. It was easy.

If I were running a business and had a system in place, I would wanna mimic AHS's system because, for one, I had a digital confirmation. I knew the whereabouts and tentative time. Another thing is their headquarters was in communications with me. On top of that, the person coming out to service the equipment got in contact with me. The gentleman coming out and his office maintained communications either via text or phone.

It would just keep on telling me there was an error. So, I called and the rep said they will have the contractor out as soon as possible, which they did. The garage door opener wasn't operating correctly. First, the bolt that screws in broke and melted out, which was shorting the unit. Then, it would just randomly work. So, the technician came out and looked at it, and they said it was cosmetic.

When they were trying to check it out the first time, it seemed to be okay. No sooner than they leave, it was acting up again. So, they came back and that was when they saw it doing what I was saying. The cars were stuck in the garage so we couldn't get out but the technicians were able to come and take care of it right away. With the whole pandemic situation, they handled it professionally. They called us by phone while they worked in the garage. Everything was great with the service.

Flow Masters was great. The guy who came in did his job. He was wearing a mask. The garbage disposal wasn’t working, so he came in, checked all that, made sure that it wasn’t working, and put the new one in. He was able to come out pretty quickly. We’ve been with AHS for 24 years. The biggest issue that we’ve had is that sometimes they send companies that are so fly-by-night that they don’t know what they're doing. One time, somebody put in the wrong air conditioning unit. We had it for six months and we didn't realize it until we tried to turn the heat on and it didn't have any heat. It didn't have the right kind of heat to heat our house. It wasn’t comparable to the old unit that we had.

Then when they put in the new unit, they didn't change the thermostat. So, then we had issues when they put the air conditioner on. When we went to use the AC, we’re having problems because it wasn’t the right thermostat. But then they changed the thermostat when they put the wrong unit in, and then when they came and put the right unit in, they didn't change the thermostat. We had to have them back out there. They should’ve done everything at the same time. We shouldn’t have been without heat because these guys didn't know enough to change our thermostat. We had to call them back out to do that. That was a disaster, but we got it all fixed. We have been in touch with upper management who have helped us a lot. And in the last couple years, things have been much better with AHS.

The dishwasher was leaking. It started leaking in October of 2019 and American Home Shield assigned a company called Sharper Service Solutions, and they came out and attempted to repair it five times. The gentleman never was able to identify the problem. It was like a guess-and-check type repair. He would order parts and put them in and it would still leak. So then, he refused to repair it the last times. So, I asked American Home Shield to assign a different contractor, somebody local that I have worked with before.

United Repair came out to repair it and they took it to their shop and ran it and found no leaks for a week and a half. I was pleased. They brought it back out and installed it. It leaked. They came out the next day and tried to fix it. They thought they had fixed it. They thought it was just the door issue and it still leaked. I started watching it and I found out that it was leaking at two hours and nine minutes from under the door. The tech said that he couldn’t figure out how to tell where it was leaking from because of the door on the dishwasher. That was when he called American Home Shield and put in the claim that he couldn’t repair it. We are receiving a new dishwasher this Friday.

The Sharper Service Solutions guy was the same one every time. I did some research on them. They’re out of a company in Portland and they have techs in areas of Oregon and I live in Salem. They have a truck and a few tools and they try to figure out what’s wrong with the appliance at the house and don’t have the ability to take it to a shop or repair it offsite. So, that was very frustrating because to me, it was just, “Why, I think it’s this. So, let’s order some parts and put it in.” When it still leaked, “Oh, I think it’s this. Let’s just order some more parts and put it in.”

As far as United Repair, they sent out a tech to install it after they had worked on it in their shop. And they had said they had almost everybody in their shop look at it to make sure it was not gonna leak. Then when it leaked after he installed it, the next day they sent out another tech. About three days later, the owner of the company actually came out and looked at it.

We also had an oven with the element that burned out. These are all pretty new appliances. The oven is probably three years old and the dishwasher is maybe four years old. And then, they came out for our air conditioning system. It just happened to be low on Freon. It wasn’t a major repair. Every time I talked to an agent through chat, which is my preference, or on the phone, they’ve been very understanding. They’ve attempted to solve the problem and have been very professional. So, I would highly recommend American Home Shield.

At first, I was very satisfied with AHS. But not anymore. Everybody makes an error but when you're charging people money and you're not giving the service back, that is terrible. In March, I mistakenly booked something for the bathroom. I called AHS about it and asked the young lade to cancel the claim for the bathroom as I meant to file the claim for the stove. But she did not cancel it.

Then, when the tech from EZ Plumbing was supposed to come out, he called me while he was driving to tell me he was on his way. He asked what kind of stove I have and I told him that I have a gas stove. Then he said that they didn't fix gas stoves and that he had to cancel the order. But when I initially called AHS about my claim, I told the young lady that I have a gas stove. However, she didn’t put it in there. After that, someone came for the stove and he was supposed to come back as he needed to buy a new part. But AHS charged me $75 twice for this claim.

I called them 100 times but the people that they hire to work there are not using their brain correctly. It's frustrating. I work two jobs and I have anxiety asthma. Every time I call, it's like I explain everything back and forth. I’m an immigrant too and I’m not putting anybody down. But if somebody lives in a different culture and you put them to work in America, it’s a different way of thinking. Also, their reps are not taking notes and their process is so dysfunctional. I’m ready to call the Division Insurance and Better Business Bureau to put a complaint in. And this morning, when I called AHS again, it seemed like I was lying and I had to send my bank statement to show them that they charged me $75 twice. And they could not go back in their system to see who charged the $75.

Aside from that, when my gas water heater quit, they refused to replace it. I had to put out money, call people outside for quotes, and I had to call American Division Insurance to put a complaint for them. That was when AHS gave me the money and that’s really a terrible business model. Other than that, somebody came out for the sink this month and I had no issue with this claim. He had to take out something and got it fixed. Fortunately, there wasn't much going on and it just needed to be cleaned.

We had two gas leaks in a couple lines and a carbon monoxide leak in the furnace. The response was quick. We got somebody out right away. The contractor put in a new valve, tightened the other connection on the other one, and then had to put furnace cement somewhere in the furnace to stop that carbon monoxide leak. They fixed it. We were extremely happy with it. I would recommend them.

Their guy knew what the problem was right away and he showed us which parts he switched out and what exactly he did, and he even went an extra step further and he programmed my remotes. I had just switched over to Home Shield. This garage door was my first claim. The claims process was a lot faster than I thought it was gonna be. I had First American Home Warranty, and they’d be like, “Oh, we'd be there in two days or three days or they'll contact you.” With Home Shield, I filed the claim and it was done right away. I've heard nothing but good things from people before about this warranty. I've liked it so far.

The tech from JV Pools was good. He was precise and he knew the detail. He went above and beyond his duties to make sure I was satisfied and to make sure that there was no other future problems or incidents. I had American Home Shield some years back on the Vegas property, which I then sold. Then, I got some more property and I had First American, but I wasn’t happy with them. In Vegas, the contractors who came out were the same -- they took care of the issue and they were communicative. They let me know before they were going to be there. The claims process of AHS is easy. You call and make an appointment, and they send somebody out. It does not get any easier than that.

On the first page, they made me check a box to move on to the next stage, but there wasn't a box that applied to what I needed to get done. So I had to say something different. But everything went very well. From the time I contacted the contractor, they were all here within two or three days. They told me they were coming. It was a rainy day when they were coming out and the tech said he was gonna try to find a spot to get out there and take a look when the rain stopped. Next thing I know, my pool was running, and I went out to find him but he had left because of the distancing. It happened so quick. It was really good.

Greenway Home Services came out and fixed my dishwasher recently. It wasn’t draining. The water was just standing in the bottom. I called the American Home Shield line, and they made an appointment. Then Greenway called to follow up with the date and the time. After they ascertained the problem, then they gave us an idea of how long it’ll be if they have to order a part, which they almost always do. We’ve had Greenway quite a few times. I’ve only had one bad experience, and they took care of that. Everything’s working fine now.

I’ve been protected with American Home Shield for about 10 years. Initially, I got it when I first moved in the house. My air conditioner went out and they didn’t cover it, and it kinda made me mad, so I canceled. But then when they started covering all the appliances, I got the policy again and I have used that a couple of times. As a matter of fact, I’ve gotten two washing machines since I’ve lived there.

We had a leaking bathroom faucet at a sink in the bathroom and it needed to be fixed. The faucet unit needed to be replaced in order to fix the leak and make sure that it was not gonna happen again. I originally submitted my claim online to the American Home Shield website, and the response by email was that Immediate Response Plumbing was going to take care of servicing the request. And online, American Home Shield immediately took the $75 fee for a home repair. So, that was done in advance of Immediate Response of making an appointment to come and take care of the service requirement.

Immediate Response did a very fine job. They were very excellent, very professional and very considerate of what was going on. They listened, and reviewed the area, and they took care of the need very quickly. Although, they were delayed, we managed to go through that. They’re very busy right now with responding, they said, so it took a few days of waiting. I can understand the delay there. Their service was at a very top-notch level. It was very recommendable.

I was getting an error message on my AC unit. It said Error Code 41. It was a blower model fault. I have one of those Carrier Infinity units and it required a special kind of technician to troubleshoot that because it's not a conventional unit. American Home Shield sent out A-US because they were more specialized in the Carrier Infinity unit. Technician they sent was Kevin and he was really good. It was not an easy thing to troubleshoot. I found out that he had to work with Carrier and replace a motor, the connector cable and a circuit board. He finally finished the job a couple of days ago and it works fine. He did an excellent job. He even had the courtesy to call me today to find out if it was working right. So it was a great experience.

I got four different houses, including three rentals that are also on American Home Shield. They're pretty good and very flexible with assigning the vendors depending on the speciality of my needs. It was honestly surprising it's flexible. I used to have a different company years ago and the experience was pretty bad and I stopped. I have an old HVAC unit and part of the reason why I got my American Home Shield warranty in the first place was we are considering on the sale of our property that they provide the warranty for. If the unit crashes, then American Home Shield will go ahead and take care of. We've had several issues over the four years we've been in the house and American Home Shield has been pretty good. They sent somebody out and they fixed the issues.

Most recently, the HVAC unit went out again for the fourth time in the last year. AHS sent out a contractor, Island Breeze. The contractor said that the unit was no longer repairable and that AHS should replace the unit. That was their official recommendation. But I got a call from AHS and they said they got the part. they would order it and they were gonna send somebody out to fix the unit. All of these transactions took weeks to transpire. They then said that to bring things up to code, they had to replace some shut-off valve. It was absurd and I wound up having to come out of pocket 300 bucks.

The contractor spent half a day here Friday and said they didn't know why American Home Shield would continue to fix this thing when it was time to replace the unit. Three days later, the unit is not working again. I am gonna call American Home Shield today. I'm extremely displeased at this point. Up until now, I get it that they try to fix things and that’s great. But when their professional comes back and says something is not worth repairing, they go ahead and repair it anyway.

There is one other issue that I continue to have. With AHS, there is a lot of lag time. If I were doing this independently myself, I call up a contractor and they come out a couple of days later to fix the unit. But when I put in a claim, it takes a couple of days for them to call me back then I get a call from the contractor. They schedule it then they have to order a part. Everything takes like weeks to get done. That part is very frustrating.

The other issue is good luck getting somebody on the phone. Every time we do have a claim, I call up and there are telephone prompts. I go through the prompts and sit on hold. Sometimes I get disconnected then I call back, sit on hold and I'm transferred to somebody else. It's a really tough system. A lot of companies, on the other hand, are like this way. You press the sales button, you get somebody right away. You press the service button, you sit on hold for 15 minutes.

There was a leak outside the tub and we had a little bit hard time in describing online what the issue was. This bathroom is upstairs and the water started dripping under the bathroom between ceiling. The technician was nice and quick. He was really efficient. He did good. This happened in a rental property and my tenants had three children. So the quick service affected them very good. Everything went smooth and nice, especially the time being. I didn't have to wait for weeks and the problem was solved in one visit. They just to have to come back to fix the wall where they made the hole.

When we did the claim online, there was nothing to write the description. So we choose the pipeline. But there should be a column for description. It's gonna make it easier for them and us also. Most of the time, when we try to use the website, we cannot describe the problem and it does not give all the details or options. You don't know where the damage is gonna be or where it is starting, so description is very, very important.

After filing the claim, American Home Shield usually emails me the next day if it is the evening. Otherwise, they email me same day that in 48 hours, it's gonna be in and somebody will be contacting me and usually, it's before 48 hours. Or when they give the company name, I always call and try to get the appointment. Most of their contractors are good. But some of them don't have enough knowledge. Until last year, my experience was very bad in some issues, and those were the issues that kept coming back. They were not doing the right thing and there were different companies. But so far this year, it's much better service.

American Home Shield is not good at all and I'm not impressed with Holiday Business Group so far. This is their third trip out here and the issue is still not fixed. They were supposed to come Friday but they didn't and they said they would be here today. He also left his equipment, the whole tester thing, on my counter. It’s been here for almost a week and he hasn’t even called back to say he missed it. So I'm frustrated. I'm wondering how he is doing his job if he left his equipment here. The rep at American Home Shield said that when he comes out, I can give it to him. But I feel like throwing it in the trash.

I'm not that impressed with American Home Shield either so I'm thinking about not even renewing the warranty. It's been more of a headache. I think I would have done better to just pay $60 a month to have my own emergency fund. I could have bought a new dishwasher and be done without a headache. At the end of the day, I'm paying for a service. If the service is poor and if my need is still not being met, I'm not gonna be satisfied.

In fact, I want my money back because I feel like this has been a hoax. I don’t even know if they're using credible people. This guy that came out here looked like he had just woken up. His shirt was hanging all outside his pants. He was sweating it. He didn’t even look professional. He didn’t even have signs on his truck. The rep said that American Home Shield supports local small businesses, which is fine, but it made me feel uncomfortable because I don’t even know how reputable the technician is. I asked if they could send somebody else out and she said no because his work was warrantied. What is it warrantied for though? He hadn’t done anything.

It was gonna cost $2,000 out of my pocket to get something fixed. And then they said they would give me a buyout if I wanted to replace the whole thing. And that coil, they said they’d give me $350.

I looked everywhere but I couldn’t find a coil even below $1,200 or $1,300, and they insisted that that’s the price that the person told them that it would cost. I didn’t really believe that. I almost thought about canceling at that point, but I hung on for a little while longer. After that, I wasn’t too thrilled. I felt like I’ve spent a lot more money on the warranty than I have on any kind of benefit. I wasn’t thrilled about that one experience, but I’ve also had some others that were good.

We had a claim with American Home Shield for replacing the main valve water line. The main valve shut-off. First, I filed the insurance. I put a ticket and I paid my co-pay. Budget Heating, Cooling & Plumbing came in, did an assessment, and left after an hour. I continued to ask them to do an appointment. I was like, “Do we need to shut the water valve so you can come in for the repair?” They said, “Oh, no. Don’t worry about it.” They were gone. And the insurance said it’s a modification. The tech didn’t modify anything at the end of the day. They gave the insurance, “It’s a modification to the pipe,” and I had to pay another $185 out of pocket. It was the plumbing company who used the terminology, "It’s as a modification." I did see he didn’t make any changes.

So, the second time, finally, I agreed because there was no way I’ll be able to shut off the water inside the house. I agreed to go with the co-pay. And after two weeks, I called them. I asked them why I would pay. They said, “Oh, it’s insurance.” So, I don’t know if the issue was the insurance problem or the plumbing company’s problem. The tech came back again with the scheduled appointments a little better. I agreed to pay, he came in, and now, he’s just looking around and he has this ridiculous part. He's looking at it and then he’s like, “What’s wrong?” And we had to go back and tell him the full story of what happened. He spent maybe four hours in my home, going back-and-forth from his truck to my basement, and he left out to buy parts. He came back.

Originally, he said he would install a different valve. When he came back with the part, he had a different part. I said, “Whatever, just fix it because it’s been more than 30 days the thing broke.” So, he finished it and he was gone and we went back to check. I do see now that he broke like a backflow preventive cap when he took that out, and he did not replace that. So, I called them again and said, “I want you to come back and put a new cap on it because it seems to be broken and I knew you broke it when you tried to do the repair.” They were just, “Oh, okay. Let us reach to him.” 30 minutes later, he showed up back again and he asked us what went wrong. I said, “Well, you’re supposed to put a new cap because it’s broken now.” He said he didn't have this part and had to go to the store. He left to the store. He came back again after an hour or so. He finally put the cap on and he left around maybe 7 o’clock.

I’m not happy about how they’re handling this. At the same time, I wish I had a choice other than Budget, but I already paid my co-pay to the insurance, and if I have to put another ticket, I don’t know whom I will end up with because AHS picks and chooses who’s available around town. I had another insurance call made by one of my leased apartment, but the insurance is in my name. They called me and they said, “Oh, we have an appointment for you today. I hear that something in your sink broke.” I said, “No. I’m not expecting anything to be broken. I have enough damage inside the house right now.”

We didn’t try to close or open the claim right now. And I asked him what the guarantee is of this repair. He said, “30 days. If you have any issues, you can still give us a call. We’ll come back and repair it.” With the situation right now, I’m not ready to let more people inside my house. The day it did not work, it was a Friday evening at 7:30, I had to call an emergency plumber to come back and said, “Pull the water back up,” which was $400. That was out of pocket. Then I paid another $400 for co-pay, then I paid another $185 for the Budget. I spent enough. That’s one year of insurance payment for me.

I had an AC issue and the person from Total Air Care came out. He talked to me a little bit, went back, took care of the situation and was out the door in 15 minutes. It worked very well. But I still have a property in a mess because the contractor brought some stuff and left it in the house in Atlanta. Total Care sent a person who went looking around and he told me that I was gonna have to have the changeover switch replaced. I said that I couldn’t afford to pay the $500 to replace the Freon. So, I had to deal with the air conditioning not working and for two years, I had no AC. Then, when I had a little bit of money, I said that I was not gonna try and get this air conditioning fixed because I can afford the $500 that they were asking me for.

The guy who came back this time walked in the back, did what he was supposed to do and got everything up and running. So, the house is nice and cool. The first guy wasn’t properly trained or didn’t know what he was doing. The second person that they hired and brought in did the job just the way it was supposed to be. I'm happy about that experience.

This company is taking advantage of American Home Shield though. I have two different accounts with AHS and when the contractor came to fix the washing machine in Atlanta, they left all sorts of products. There was a box and it has just the drum of the washing machine. It's sitting there doing nothing. I'm sure American Home Shield paid for it. Those companies are spending too much money on the repairs and falsifying whatever is necessary. That GE company sent four different packages to my home in Deerwood Lane. All that stuff is just sitting there waiting for somebody to deal with it. Still, I'm happy with the process with American Home Shield although it's difficult to get them on the phone. Sometimes, I'm working and I don’t have the time and availability to do all of this stuff.

We were getting sulfur-smelling water bubbling up through the little spout at the top of our sink one time. I submitted a claim on the American Home Shield website. Their site was good and I was told that their contractor Neighbor Plumbing & Rooter would call. They did and their tech came over promptly. It turned out that we had a clogged line from the dishwasher and the tech unclogged that for us. The tech pointed out that there was something at the top of our disposal that kept water from spraying back into the sink which has already deteriorated. He pointed out that needed to be fixed but he didn't fix that. I would have liked him to if he had been able but it's 125 bucks a pop to get someone out to our location. Still, things have been good since he came out.

Since I've used Home Shield, they've always been quick. I submit claims online. I also got a program in my phone that gives me the list of whatever I needed to be covered and it gives me a time or a contractor. I've had two instances with contractors and both times, they contact me within a good time, at their word when they would show up, timely and personable. It's old-fashioned good service and I couldn't ask for more. For my last claim, the contractor was outstanding. I even gave them a callback and complimented the young technician, Shawn. He was very professional, timely and informative. He even put his little booties on over his shoes.

We were told that the Freon was leaking when we had our yearly service. I called American Home Shield and they sent Affordable Heating & Air out. They said that the condenser needed to be replaced and parts of the interior needed to be changed to be compatible with the new Freon that’s required now. They went ahead and did that and they did a great job. We've had a warranty with American Home Shield over 20 years and we've always felt like we got our money out of it. It saves us from having to worry about major repairs.

I went online and put the claim in for our AC. It was less than an hour that I got an email saying, “It's been assigned to Airmax and they’ll contact you.” And then the next day, Airmax contacted me and they were very responsive. They were able to send somebody out that day. And American Home Shield was great and we’ve had no problems whatsoever dealing with them.

Airmax discovered that there was a leak in one of the coils, and all the Freon had escaped. This is a Lennox system. And so, they went back and checked with Lennox to see if it’s still under warranty. It’s only three years old and it is under warranty. They’re dealing with Lennox to get the coil replaced and they’ve ordered it. When it comes in, then they will come back out, replace it.

I know what my cost share is for the Freon and I have already paid for that. The process has gone very smoothly, other than the fact that it’s taken a little bit longer. But fortunately, the weather’s nice. And Airmax says they think it’ll be Monday when they can come out and replace that coil. So far, the process is going as well as could be expected. I’ve got no complaints whatsoever. It’s just not over.

My air conditioner wasn't working and I called in a claim to American Home Shield. Their contractor Weatherwise got sent out and the repairman who came was very good. We accessed our roof and it turned out that my unit was turned off. It was a very easy fix and everything went well. More recently, my toilet was leaking and another tech sent by an AHS contractor replaced the wax seal.

AHS had Cavalry Appliance come over and the technician was very nice. We had a problem with the refrigerator which had something to do with the compressor and he fixed it the first time he came out. The fridge worked great and everything was okay. But the second time, the Freon was coming out from somewhere and he couldn't determine where the opening was to fix it. He did something, but it didn't work and the next day, it was broken again. He said that it was impossible to fix, so we ended up with a dead fridge. American Home Shield said that the case was completed and they were supposed to replace it or talk about options. I called them yesterday and they were supposed to call me back to let me know what happens, but I've never gotten a response. I'm gonna call again. Other than that, they were responsive, they acted upon my claim, and they assigned technicians. So, I don't have any complaints.

Doctor Cool came out. It was great. He was super helpful and he helped fix my AC. I have two AC units, and the one that was the downstairs just needed a new motor. He replaced that ’cause it was covered under the warranty. He told us to get us a new AC thermostat. We got a new one and I noticed that it was different. It was cooler already in the house. Submitting the claim to AHS was easy. Everything has been great with AHS.

American Home Shield guaranteed that things would be repaired. Because they were guaranteeing that, they would send competent technicians. After having bad experiences with plumbers, I switched over to them. I had a plumber who didn't fix the problem and I called AHS. They then sent IRH Plumbing for my claim and they provided great service. AHS has been responsive and I've been happy with them.
