Our hot water heater had gone out and its bottom rusted out. My husband made a claim to American Home Shield. The technician came out to verify and see what was wrong. A few days later, the repairs were approved. The plumbers showed up in a very timely manner. They were very kind and did the job very quickly. We were very pleased. We are very thankful that we have American Home Shield. It seems to be a secure, and peaceful back-up to have in the pocket.

My air conditioner wasn't cooling and when I called American Home Shield to submit my claim, it went through the automated system. You push a button if you wanna put in a service request and that was pretty easy. The contractor seemed to be polite when he came. He didn't fix the problem because he told me there was nothing wrong with the unit. Then, 20 minutes after he left, the unit did exactly what I told him it did. I tried to call him and he didn't answer. I texted him and told him that it was doing what I told him before. I asked him if it was normal and he texted me back and said it wasn’t. He said I had to put in another request. He couldn't just turn around and come back. I had to call in yesterday and AHS is sending a different vendor or provider to come out and look at it.

Last Thursday, I noticed that the air conditioner wasn’t working because I turned it down to 75 and it never got below 79 degrees in my house. We spent Thursday and Friday nights miserable and on Saturday, we got a cool fan. So by then, I opened a window and we were all good to go, but still, the outside unit of the air conditioner didn't come on. Yesterday, I called to check on the guy that came out Monday to see what the status was and on the other times I called, it said, "We're experiencing high call volume. If you like for us to call you back, push one." I didn't get that option so I had to hold for 45 minutes. It would be nice if AHS always had that option. It was playing music and every nine minutes, it would say, "You're 3rd in the queue or 5th in the queue or something like that," so you kinda have an idea if I'm 25th in the queue and maybe I want you to call me back and give me that option.

But the service was fine per year. It's just the hold time is too long. Whenever the contractors are here, we can't complain. I will recommend American Home Shield.

My kitchen sink was clogged and would not clear by any means that I do. I tried to submit a claim for it earlier in November because I signed up with American Home Shield a few weeks before that. I was already three weeks into my plan. I tried to file my claim online at first. I had an account and it showed it, but it wouldn’t let me ask for service. I then called in and I didn’t enjoy my interaction with the American Home Shield rep. I told her I could see myself but I couldn’t get service. She told me that was because I was not live yet and that I wouldn't go live until the last day of the month. I was surprised to find out that the policy didn’t activate till weeks after one initiates it.

I asked the woman if for an upcharge I could have the policy activated. The rep was giving me an answer I didn’t like and that answer really made me wonder if I should get the home warranty or not. The question with the clogged sink for me was if I should wait like this for 10 days or if I should call a service provider like a normal plumber. But if I called a service provider, then the perceived value to me of the whole home warranty thing was not as good. It was weird that I couldn't pay more to have my policy activated sooner because that was the moment when American Home Shield could lose clients like me. It’s something that they should consider.

I bought a house two years ago and got a home warranty with it. I chose not to renew the home warranty and I kept getting renewal notices from rival companies. I decided to do the home warranty this year and went with American Home Shield just because I wanted to try another company. With my previous home warranty, I only called once to have a small thing fixed on the compressor of my air conditioner. That company was much easier to get in touch with them and it was much faster to speak with them. With American Home Shield, it took a while to talk to somebody who didn’t give me the best answer.

On the very first day my policy kicked in, I asked for a service call. Once they scheduled the service call, I had a 2:00 to 6:00 service window and no one called me. At 4 o’clock, I got a little worried and I thought I could just keep waiting till 6:00. But I also thought about calling to make sure that somehow everything transferred through and someone was really on their way to my house.

I called the service provider whose name I was given on an email from American Home Shield, and they told me that they close at 4 o’clock but that I could leave a message. I did that because it was exactly 4 o’clock. I then called American Home Shield and I was on hold for 40 minutes when the service provider showed up at my door. It was possible that it was a really busy time for American Home Shield, but it was also possible that they were understaffed in their phone center.

Also, when I called in to schedule the service, they asked for me to give them an account to debit my payment from. That was a new experience for me. In my past, whenever I had a home warranty, I always ended up paying somebody directly for a service call. But this was American Home Shield saying, "We're pre-arranging to be able to suck out your money," which was a little scary. It’s supposed to be a set amount of money but if you do that, you never know what they’re gonna take. Also, it was $75 when I thought I signed up for the plan where it was $50.

The plumber who came out was very knowledgeable and persistent. He made a guess about what it was and he used a long steel snake. He said he thought it was grease and it was 30 feet away from my house. I actually don’t cook with any oil and don’t put anything like that down the drain so it was probably long-term stuff that built up from the previous people who stayed in the house. The plumber also cleaned up after himself which is a miracle these days.

Hopefully my succeeding experience with American Home Shield wouldn't always take forever to reach them. And it could be bad luck or it could be that is the way they are. In which case, I can’t recommend them because with mine it was just an inconvenience. But the waiting forever and the rep telling me that the policy doesn’t initiate were not her fault as much as it was American Home Shield’s standards. But if your house is flooding, you can’t be waiting two hours. It would be better to call someone for whatever cost to immediately start dealing with it.

I met people at my work and mentioned that I didn't know how I was gonna afford to pay for repairs and one girl said she and her husband had Home Shield for years, and they've never had an issue with them. She said with me being single, I need that. I had a leakage under my kitchen sink, and that went into my basement and to my bathroom. The contractors AHS sent were great. One had to go to Lowe's three times. He kept getting the wrong size. It was pouring down rain and I wouldn't have done all they've done. They apologized. They respect it being raining coming in my home.

However, I'm upset because I had been trying to call them because my understanding is I was only supposed to pay $107, and now they're hitting me with a $97 bill. Nobody will explain to me why, so I'm getting ready to cancel it. I haven't used it in a whole year, and when I called, they said that I owed another $97. I called American Home Shield five times, and they kept saying they were gonna contact me, and call the people that came and did it to ask why they charged.

Right after it actually happened, I had a girl from Home Shield call me about getting an upgrade. She went over everything with me, and I agreed in everything. It's gonna be like $10 more if they come out, that it was a better deal because I haven't used them that one time. I've had so many people call me and not the right ones are calling me. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Home Shield ever since I had them, because the job they had done what would have probably cost me $3,000, and as a single homeowner, it's perfect.

AHS was running a special for furnace tune-ups for going into the fall. I scheduled the furnace check-up online and the service technician came out and did the check-up. They were good, courteous, and nice, but they made a mistake and inadvertently left a wire unconnected. I called AHS for the follow-up. They initially were gonna charge me for the second visit. I said that was not right and that the furnace was working beforehand. So, we got that resolved. The second technician opened up the panel and immediately saw what the problem was. He corrected it and did another couple of checks just to make sure everything was working as it should. In both cases, the technicians were professional.

The second one was when my heater was not blowing hot air and was making a little bit of noise. They had to order a part and the repair took a week. The contractors they sent were quick. They made their appointment, got in here quickly and resolved the problem within a reasonable amount of time. I live in an older house so, I had a lot of things done when I first moved in and I knew that there would be things coming up along the way. I have been with AHS for a year and I enjoy having them. I would recommend them.

I have nothing but good experiences with American Home Shield. When there was an issue with the microwave, I submitted a claim for that with AHS online. The technicians who were sent were very professional and polite. They looked at the microwave and tried to repair it. A couple of days later, my wife said it was still acting up. So the techs came back out and realized it couldn’t be repaired, so they suggested the microwave be replaced. AHS got in contact with me and said they would do that. I just a got call earlier today about the microwave and from what I could tell, it shouldn’t be that long for it to be replaced. I have to pick out which one and what style. Once I do that and get that back to them, they would submit it and get the microwave to me. So far, AHS has been great and I'm glad I signed up with them.

I typically submit claims online. It's easy although not nearly as specific. It's tailored for people who are lazy, and who are not really good at describing issues. The only frustration I've got is I can't provide American Home Shield the level of detail before they decide who to send out and how to address the issue that I'd like to be able to give them, because all I can do is check a box that says 'washing machine's broken'. The online claims process works but I feel there's so much more I could contribute and I don't get the opportunity to.

In Midland Odessa in West Texas, half the multitude is Mexican and we've had folks show up that couldn't even speak English. But they know how to fix things, which doesn't give you a warm, fuzzy feeling about the confidence of the individual you've got, or recourse, if he decides to go to Mexico when he gets in trouble. I'm not a happy camper but I understand that is the nature of the workforce out here.

The latest claim that we had was for the washing machine and American Home Shield sent one of these clowns out. He fixed the problem, but four months later, it broke again. At that time, I spoke to somebody at American Home Shield and told them what I thought, and within two days, they just agreed and told me they were gonna send me a new washer. American Home Shield is an excellent service provider. They're responsive and they're doing the best they can to support my needs. Unfortunately, I don't think they have the kind of tools they deserve to do that in the form of the repair people. Still, I'd recommend American Home Shield.

There was something wrong with my washer door, so I called the gentleman who came out for my washer before. He thought that it was the lock, so he replaced the lock but it still didn’t work. He then called American Home Shield. AHS then told me to go down to a dealer and take a look of what they were going to be replacing my washer with and make sure it would fit. But then they didn’t have that washer available, so AHS called me back to say that they were upgrading me. So, I got a wonderful Whirlpool washer and I really like it a lot. It has a steam clean in it and my other one did not. The only bad thing is I couldn’t use my pedestal that I used to have and now, I have to go buy another pedestal because now I have a dryer high and a washer low. All the manufacturers use different connection gizmos for their appliances.

The guy that they sent for my washer was absolutely wonderful. He called me right away, set me up an appointment and he came when he said he would. Also, my last two claims with AHS had been simple but before that, it was horrible. It was 115 degrees and my air conditioner wasn’t working. I had to wait almost 13 days for somebody to come out and look at it. Also, when I called, I was waiting on the line forever but that was the only negative.

I had a problem with my AC which stopped working. I called American Home Shield and had them schedule a company to come out. The company they chose was Total Air Care, also known as Polar Plumbing, and they came out promptly. However, that was the start of a nightmare after that, taking up almost a month of time.

The tech was a very pleasant person and I let him go outside to work on the AC. About 40 minutes later, he showed me two pipes that were going to the condenser coil and they looked like they had been cut and separated. He said that I was missing parts, took pictures and sent them in. The first response was that there was a problem with the unit and they probably needed to have the compressor replaced. Then, they said there were missing parts, which was one of the things that American Home Shield didn't cover. They also told me there was an uncovered cost of $849 and asked if I was willing to pay to get it fixed. It was in the middle of summer in Florida, so I told them to get it done, although I was not happy about it.

From that point on, it took weeks of trying to get in touch with them. I called the AC company up and was on hold for about 15 minutes. Then, I got to the receptionist who really couldn't do anything and said she gotta transfer me to the appropriate department. I waited on hold for another 30 minutes and asked the secretary to transfer me to the person I needed to speak with. However, the secretary said that they couldn't call them directly and that they had to leave them an email, then they would get back in 24 to 48 hours. They left a message and it just perpetuated the phone tag, and I had to go through that over and over again.

They finally had the technician call me who said he was ready to come out. He told me they've got everything they need for my system and the cost was gonna be $4,900. I asked what happened to the $850 and was told they decided that my system had been open to the elements for way too long for them to guarantee that would fix it, so they had to replace the whole system. I called AHS back after doing the dance with the contractor for a while and AHS said that I could get a second opinion. They also asked if I would like to have them send another company out and I said yes.

The next company they sent out was Comfort Zone. I looked up the two companies after they dispatched the second company to see what kind of a ride I was in for. The first company was rated as an F by Better Bureau until their status was revoked. They had a long-standing, repetitive cycle of complaints and an inability to contact anybody from management. The second company, on the other hand, still had zero complaints on BBB.

The tech from Comfort Zone came out, opened up the AC, looked at it and told me there were no missing parts and that somebody disconnected the condenser coil because they suspected there was a leak there. He sprayed some soapy water on it, hooked up the pressure and it started bubbling down at the bottom. He then said there was a hole in the compressor. It was aluminum and since it couldn't be fixed, it had to be replaced. He wrote up the order and sent it in.

AHS said it was something they covered. They ordered the part and then, they discovered how expensive that part was and decided to replace it, which was a little more expensive to me. It went from $300 to $500 but I had a brand new system. In the end, they covered it and I only needed to pay the out-of-pocket expenses that they didn't cover and I was cool with that.

Customers for almost 20 yrs, we have made approximately five claims and only had minimal difficulty with AHS until last month. We initiated repairs for multiple appliances on 11/9, during that call we were assured that multiple appliances can be included under one work order for a single charge. Although we asked that the initial service fee not be debited until 24-48 hrs after the technician completed svc, it was debited immediately. The 1st technician arrived on 11/15 with only one appliance on his work order. The parts for that repair were not ordered until 11/29 and we were finally told today they will not arrive until after 12/6!

Another tech came out on 11/17 and after two more visits, on 11/29 completed repair on the dishwasher but only partial repair of refrigerator because ice and water dispensers are not covered. We have spent 40-60 minutes on hold with AHS FIVE different times to determine the status of the outstanding repair only to have the svc rep claim to be unable to give us that information and promise to call back within 24 hrs. No one calls back.

Our account has also been charged for two more service calls and we have been told that is because we requested add-on services for the additional appliances. The original tech did not have a complete work order and a different tech was dispatched to complete the work, we are being charged repeatedly and our appliances are not even repaired! Customer service has been virtually nonexistent and when we have finally gotten someone on the phone they have been rude and provided no assistance at all. It's a shame this company has gone downhill since we first purchased our warranty. After the remaining repairs are completed to our satisfaction we will no longer be AHS customers.

Then it stopped working again. So I resubmitted online again. And that’s when they told me that they had to replace it, and they had to order the part.

My question to them was they said they are replacing the water heater only but they said they had some modifications that had to be done and I had to pay for. I don't understand it. I looked at the contract and I read the limitation and exclusions. Any modifications that they are doing is supposed to be determined to be defective by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, or a manufacturer has to do a recall with the determination that it’s been defective. That’s the way I understood it. I’ve talked to six different people, and they couldn’t explain it thoroughly enough that I could make a decision. They’re supposed to get the part and come out today to install it. I’d have to pay it if AHS doesn’t cover it. Nevertheless, I’d definitely recommend AHS to my friends.

Also, the first company was trying to charge me at least over $500 to just service the air conditioning unit again, when it was serviced the first time. American Home Shield kinda helped me out in a way that, "Okay. Who's gonna pay for it and why the charges were so high and then all that?" But Home Shield went through the whole process, getting the supervisor, the financials and everything else, and it was perfect. So, I was happy with it. I will keep in until I have the house. AHS has a good coverage. They got good plans and I will use them for all the needs for my house. I will recommend it to a friend.

Our heater stopped working and so I called American Home Shield and filed a claim. They handled it well, were very to-the-point and got the claim addressed. The contractors AHS has sent us haven't taken very long to come out - in one call, someone was out here the same day while on the other, someone came out within 24-48 hours. In this heater claim, the repair company that came was very responsive and did a good job - they fixed the problem, were polite, and were in and out reasonably quickly. Overall, we've had a positive experience with AHS and we're planning on renewing our contract with them.

The coil went out on the air conditioner and the contractor that American Home Shield sent out tried to push us to get a whole new air conditioning system instead of letting AHS do the repair. They also told us that it takes American Home Shield 48 or more hours to reply to a claim. My brother, however, works for an air conditioning company and he works for American Home Shield. He said that was a lie because it doesn't take that long. The contractors were holding out on us. They were trying to push this big unit on us knowing we could afford it.

We told the contractor that we would rather have the unit repaired as we are gonna move out of this house next year and put it up for sale. However, the guy got mad when we said that we just wanna get it fixed, and they never got back with us. We waited over a week and did not hear anything. So we had to call American Home Shield, and when we did, they said they never got the claim. We called the contractor and told them that AHS said it was closed and they have to put a new coil in. They said they would see what was going on and they must have turned the claim in immediately because AHS called us within the hour, telling me what my part was gonna be and what I was gonna have to pay for out of pocket.

AHS was doing a great job on that part and I love them but sometimes, I'm not comfortable with the service people they send out such as this one. The contractors are here today putting in the new coil and the guy that came out before didn't come out again. They just sent two installers. They were very nice and charming, but it was hard to communicate with them. They are re-fixing the unit and they're doing a good job. It's very valuable having the warranty on the property because if we would have to pay for that coil, it would have cost thousands of dollars but we only had to pay $1,400, so that was good. I've had AHS before with other homes and they have sent people out that were wonderful. I would recommend them.

There were a couple of valves on our cooktop that became frozen and would not work. We submitted the claim to American Home Shield over the phone and it took four days for someone to come out. The original contractor that came out looked like they were not interested in doing the work as soon as they walked in the door. The claim was denied and they claimed something that had nothing to do with this claim at all. We protested that and finally got the results that we wanted.

Foster's Appliance was great. Our interaction with their technician was cordial and we showed him what the problem was. He knew we were calling him for second opinion and he was very nice about it. We explained what was not working, he looked over the stove and checked it out. The cooktop could not be repaired and they couldn’t get those parts anymore. But American Home Shield replaced it with a very nice unit and it’s working great now. Having a warranty is extremely valuable. It would have been very expensive. We’re very satisfied with our overall experience with AHS since we got what we wanted.

I had a plumbing issue and I submitted my claim online to American Home Shield. Their website was very user-friendly but I wish it could give you an opportunity to make a comment other than just submitting the basic description of plumbing. Doing this will make it easier for them. The first contractor called me immediately and he set the appointment. I explained to them that I own the home but I have a renter in there. I asked them to call her to set the appointment.

A couple of days went by, nothing happened, so I kept calling them and their voicemail was full. You couldn’t leave a message and you could only send them a sim text. No one ever called me back. I notified American Home Shield and they immediately dispatched another plumber and they went out and took care of everything immediately. The whole process took about eight days but I blame it on the first plumber. My renter could not use the master bathroom shower through that whole time and it was an inconvenience to her. But since the repair, my renter said it was perfect and the contractor did an excellent job.

I have multiple homes with American Home Shield and not all the claims that I’ve had to use them have been perfect. I have two homes in remote areas in North Georgia and you can’t always dispatch a vendor to take care of the issue that’s over 100 miles away. You sometimes have to go out of the realm and find one within the local area. But with the house that I have in Stone Mountain, they’ve always immediately sent out someone because they have more vendors available within that range.

The techs had to change a part and they couldn’t do it while I was there. Then I had to leave on an emergency yesterday. They were supposed to come and install the part today, but I said I had to leave, so they told me to give them a call when I came back. I said I would be back, then I would call them, and they would come and install the part.

I've done claims with AHS a couple of times and everything was taken care of properly. This warranty has been excellent and of very good value to me, and I would tell people to get it. I was in a party last night and told four or five people that AHS has been excellent. They’re thinking of getting the warranty and I told them to call AHS. This way, they would have less headache at home to worry about.

They wanted to come the next day but I wasn’t available so we set it up the day after that. Have the coverage with American Home Shield is very valuable, especially in this town. It was more valuable when I was working because I was on the road a lot and they could get a contractor to come out here. But even when I was around, it was difficult to get a contractor in this town to show up. I’ve been doing most of the claims online if the software lets me do it. But sometimes, you can’t describe it and they don’t have enough options to say what it is that you want done. I’ve got two furnaces in the house, one out in the pool and one for air. If I have a problem with the furnace and then go back with another furnace problem, the website tells me, “You already recorded that.” I don’t have an ability to say I’ve got another problem with the furnace if I have one of those claims already underway.

On another note, Air Service Heating & Air Conditioning came out when the furnace wasn’t coming on and those guys were good. I told them what was wrong so they looked about the furnace and then traced the issue back. It wasn’t the furnace. It was the thermostat that wasn’t working. So they replaced the thermostat and then the furnace came back on again. Everything’s okay now.

However, in Phoenix, when my AC goes out or something goes wrong with it, I have to wait up to four days to have somebody come to even see what's wrong and that is awful because my house will get to be 100 degrees. Their contractor then sent me a text that they will contact me within the next two days, and they did. They set up an appointment and their guy showed up on time then took a look at it. Apparently, it was a leak in the roof and the water was falling on the water heater, so it was external to the actual water heater, and there wasn't anything they could do. So he was just here 10 minutes, still we paid the $75, and I think that's something that could be changed. Other than that, AHS has sent contractors that also did well. The techs have been very helpful since they addressed the issues. However, I would like AHS to have an online feasibility of letting me describe that I have one or two furnaces and I need the serviceman to look at both of them. Their website didn’t have a place for me to put that. If there had been a place to put that comment in, then I wouldn’t have to call back and ask another company to come out and look at the second one.

I have two furnaces, but I didn’t know that I could have asked for the serviceman to look at both of them because they said AHS has to authorize them in order for them to look at both furnaces. When the first serviceman came out, he only serviced one of the two, and he told me he was not authorized to look at the other one. So, I paid the service fee once, then I had to go back and pay the service fee again for another company to come out and look at the second furnace. Nevertheless, the second company was good and the issue was resolved.

American Home Shield even contacts me and the tenant so it’s really nice. That’s what needs to happen and it didn’t that much to get that organized. American Home Shield has already sent people out there twice this year, once for plumbing and once for electrical. The garbage disposal was replaced and then an electrical problem in the patio room was fixed. I was really happy. There was another time for a leak but they didn't find anything wrong.

Most recently, Royal Air came out to fix the heater. They had to clean it and that wasn't covered. But they were there and they got everything done right away. I was pleased with that. The tenants had a new baby in the house and I wanted heat in there. In fact, I’m gonna use that company for the summer check-up. I do two check-ups in a year, for the winter and for the summer. I used someone else for the winter check-up and they didn't catch that the heater was dirty. They charged me $200 just to go in there and look at it. That was the second air conditioning and heating company that screwed me over. So I was happy with Royal Air. I needed a company that I could rely on.

They disconnect your call and they never call back. They are horrible people. They take your money and don’t give you anything for your money but a hard time. They charge you for the contractor before the contractors come. With my refrigerator, the guy came but never looked at my unit, and I still got charged $150. I called AHS and they said they would send somebody else. That other person came but did not look at my unit either. They charged me $320 just to go upstairs and fill the refrigerator up.

As for my heater, I got charged twice but no one has ever come and look at the unit yet in my house. Service people have told me they can't come out that far, and if they come to my house, I would have to wait all day long because I’m too far from them. There is no way possible that I can take a day off of work, sit in my house all day long and wait for someone to come. That’s asinine. Meanwhile, I’m paying AHS money every month. I had thought of using them again for the last six months and I’m regretting it. I used them years ago, had problems with them, didn’t use them, used another company and then I ended up coming back to American Home Shield. It’s the worst mistake I ever made.

That afternoon, I received a call from another contractor that said they were my second opinion and said it would be a week before they could come out. Contractor number 2 comes out and says he can fix it. 2 1/2 weeks later it wasn’t fixed and after calling AHS found out that the parts had just been ordered the day before and would take another 7-10 days to receive them.

Roughly a week later, the contractor called and made appointment to come over the following day on 11/24/18. He couldn’t fix it, in fact further broke it trying to remove a part. He left. I kept expecting a call from AHS and nothing. I called them on 11/27. It is December 1st and I still don’t have a washing machine. I understand that there is a process but this is ridiculous. Twice, I was told that a dispatcher or supervisor would call me back but never did. Communication is horrible! I’m leaving on the 3rd for a trip and have to do laundry before I go. I have spent so much money going to laundromats and the inconvenience is even more frustrating than the money being spent. I live 89 miles from work, I get home about 8:30pm and then I need to get to the laundromat before 9pm or they’re closed. It’s been over a month! Get your act together AHS! When he came back, he took care of it.

I also had an issue with the thing that regulates the water pressure. It was broken and I had a lot of water coming out of a pipe. I had to turn off the hot water for the whole house. It took three days for the contractor to come over, but when he came he took care of it right away. Overall, I’m very happy with AHS. It takes several days for service providers to come over because AHS has a limited number of providers. Their customer service is not always so great, too. But still, I have already recommended them to several friends.

I’ve got a few friends who are using American Home Shield and they said it’s a great warranty. I got a little bit fed up with my previous warranty company in their customer service and the technicians that they would send out to the house. Talking to American Home Shield and the variety of experienced technicians that they have, I went that way and so far, so good. In my first experience as a new customer with American Home Shield, I have no issues and I was very satisfied. I had an issue with my HVAC where the power supply to the compressor went out. With no AC in my house, it was hot. I filed the claim online and it was a straightforward experience. The tech who was sent was good and he actually dealt with my wife but I was able to talk to him since we did a three-way phone call. He was able to isolate the problem and fixed it relatively quickly. I had the HVAC's problematic part replaced, which restored my upstairs AC unit.

I called American Home Shield and told them what was going on and they sent out an electrician. He was very professional, went right to the source, and did some backchecking. This time, an account representative oversaw that the issue was taken care of. But I still have an ongoing problem with one of the technicians, Flory. When he was sent out the first time to work on the air conditioner, the drain hose needed to be cleaned out and he only did it halfway. A few days later, it backed up and damaged my ceiling, wall and carpet. I spoke with the AHS reps about this but they said that I needed to deal with Flory. But other than that experience with Flory, I've had excellent service and feedback from AHS.

I had to put in a new tank and redo all the wiring and everything else because it was so far out of code. I figured that the heater wouldn’t be covered under the insurance. But it was a good thing somebody came to take a look at it because the element was out and it was fried bad. The water tank is from 2009 so it’s already almost 10 years old.

When my air conditioner broke down, it took almost 10 days for American Home Shield to resolve it. I live in Florida and it is over 90 degrees every day. I have kids in this house and was fighting with them. The first people came and said it was just a minor wire and that it was working fine. They called me while I was at work, and then I came home, and it was not working. I called them back and they said they couldn't come back for another three or four days. So then I called AHS and told them not to send those people back to my house. They sent a person from another company and he said that the motor was gone. I started crying because it's 90 degrees every day. We were putting portable air conditioners in the window to cool off my house, which is big and it could not do it. The guy felt bad for me, so he told his workers to find the piece of the motor for me. They came back and put it in the very next day, which was really good.

I'm tired of AHS always using their people. The people that they utilize might be 80 miles away from my house. That doesn't make any sense. I've been dealing with AHS for a few years now, and I'm in the process of trying to decide if I still wanna be bothered by them. They're always costing me money. I can never just pay the $100 service fee, which is what I'm supposed to pay. I always gotta come out of pocket for additional fees. It's like they automatically figure most things they do not cover then they'd add those to the not covered list. So when they come out, I'm always gonna have to pay enough. They really need to step up their game.

And then sometimes, they double bill me. They used to make me pay the $100 service fee when they came. And now, they don't do that anymore. They just bill me, or they take it out of my account because they have a credit card. I would tell others that they need to research other facilities before they try going with AHS. I will also tell them the problems that I had with American Home Shield.

My son was telling me that the AC wasn’t blowing cold air in his room so instead of me changing out the thermostat which I already knew was the problem, I put in a request to American Home Shield so their contractor can also look at it as well. Their contractor, Comfort First Heating & Cooling, dropped in a basic gray thermostat but I don’t even think it was comparable to what I had already. I asked him about it and they did check it out. But for my son’s room, they weren’t able to do anything so I was a little bit disappointed in that.

At one point, it blew cold air in the room and they just told me that it’s because I have a split-level unit. They just told me I have to turn the thermostat down downstairs to make it cool upstairs. I did that but it still didn’t change and it was still hot. I felt like I wasted my money because I already knew I needed a thermostat. It was something that my husband could’ve just popped in and I could’ve bought a digital one for the price that I paid for somebody to come out.

I have had American Home Shield for five years and submitting a claim to them was really simple. I just go online, submit the claim, then in 24 hours, somebody will call me to say that they will gonna come out and give me the date that they will come in. I only used AHS twice and both claims were all right. I was just disappointed with the last one with what they told me and I felt they could have done something more. Other than that, I would definitely recommend them.

My hot water heater failed and it had to be replaced. I went online and requested service to American Home Shield and unfortunately, they dispatched a firm out of California. So, I paid my $75 fee and that was sent to that firm in California. When I called the next day to find out when the service was gonna happen, the firm in California said they don’t service Arizona. They turned it back to American Home Shield and they picked a local company in Arizona. It took two days to get them out.

The tech found out what the problem was with the hot water heater and he told me that he had to bypass some kind of sensor. It left me feeling a little uneasy that he bypassed something and so I called somebody else and had them take a look at it. What he had bypassed was the sensor that detects how hot the water is. That contractor had called American Home Shield and said the hot water heater does need to be replaced. On AHS's end, they allowed me to go ahead and get that replaced which I did with a different contractor. Then I submitted my bill and I got reimbursed for that.

Unfortunately, I'm still getting billed by American Home Shield to pay the Arizona firm. I paid it and then I realized I had paid it. I called American Home Shield and talked to a lady there who said I had paid and they paid the wrong vendor. She said they would refund the extra payment, make the adjustment, and it would take care of itself. But I'm still getting invoiced. Other than that, it was a positive experience overall because they followed through and my hot water got replaced.

I have had two experiences with AHS since purchasing a warranty in August. When the refrigerator wasn't working properly, the technician who arrived was not informative or easily understandable. After waiting two months for parts that were backordered, I canceled the repair and opted for replacement in order to have a functioning refrigerator. The technician did not call me to inform about the delay, I repeatedly called him for updates as weeks went by, otherwise I would still be waiting for to hear from him about parts.

My second experience was better with a Kenmore stove where a Sears technician was sent out. He was very informative and clear about what was needed. Unfortunately, the repair scheduled to take place yesterday (2 weeks later) did not happen as neither part has arrived. One will come in 2 days, but the other is... backordered. Sears was better about providing information when I called to find out why the repair had not taken place, but also warned if I did not get an email response about when the part will come in to call back. I don't like having to chase down the information, that's why I bought a warranty.

Lastly, I am attempting to reach AHS on the phone to get the information on where to send my replacement refrigerator information to get reimbursed. This is the third attempt I have made over a week to speak to someone. The first time, I hung up after an hour. The next time, I hung up after 45 minutes. Right now, I have been waiting over 20 minutes. I am calling at different times of day, days of the week, etc., but the service by phone is really lacking as who can wait for hours to be responded to? The website does not contain information on how to send in the information and neither does my contract. That makes speaking to someone the only way to get this information. At this point, I will not renew my contract when it is due as I have not seen a great benefit to this service.

This is a very negative review, but completely justified. I want to make sure no one else is stuck with the worst home warranty and service ever. Our water heater broke on Saturday, November 24 and my husband put in an order the same date. We were contacted the following Monday and had an appointment set up for Tuesday. After the appointment, we called American Home Shield that evening to try and schedule replacement. We did not receive confirmation to move forward until Wednesday night when we told them to proceed and order our water heater.

I called Thursday morning and spoke with the supervisor and she said that it had not yet been ordered, even though we had given the okay 14 hours early! Obviously, they are not in a rush at all! I called back and spoke to supervisor in the evening and it was only at 1:30 that day when they actually ordered the water heater. Now, I received word it is going to be at least 1 week before the water heater arrives. This is completely unacceptable. I don’t understand how American Home Shield expects their customers to go without water for over two weeks. You are a large company. You should, and I bet you can, expedite orders!

The most frustrating part of all this, besides the fact that we are expected to wait two plus weeks from when our water heater breaks to receive a new one with absolutely no source of water at our house and I’m currently pregnant, is the runaround we received from the customer service line. Their hold times are completely unreasonable. I had to wait an hour and 15 mins one day before speaking with a rep. That is completely unacceptable. Then when you actually speak with someone, they have no idea of their job or what they are talking about.

I asked to speak with a supervisor and when I asked her when we could expect our water heater, she said she didn’t know. Isn’t it your job to know? It’s your business and you’re a supervisor. She then told me it may take 2-3 weeks. You are a large company. You can do better than this. We absolutely will not be renewing our warranty at the end of the cycle, and would never, ever recommend American Home Shield to our friends, family or anyone for that matter.

AHS has generally been great. But recently they sent us an awful "plumber" who had no idea what he was doing. Said he could not fix it, mis-diagnosed the problem, then waiting too long to file his report (during which time we had our hands tied and could not send out a second opinion). TURNS OUT THIS PLUMBER IS NOT LICENSED!! His incompetence caused a giant chain reaction, which lead to over 1k in damages!! AHS is refusing to cover this cost, because they say they are not responsible for secondary damage. EXCUSE ME - THEY SENT US A FAKE PLUMBER and it is BECAUSE OF HIM that we had the damages! When we signed up with AHS we were told that they screen and do a background check on all their vendors. We expected quality and I feel they should be held accountable and responsible for the damages caused.

I had a claim with American Home Shield when the blower wasn’t working and my air conditioning wasn’t cooling. United Air Tampa, Florida came out and the technician opened up the system and said that the motor part was broken and needed to be replaced. But he didn’t have the part in the truck and he had to order it, which he said might take a couple days. But for whatever reason, when he was trying to test the motor, he had the system turned off. I asked him whether he should have it turned on but he said no. Even though I know nothing about HVAC, the way he was testing it didn't make sense. But he put everything back together and when he left, something told me to turn the air conditioning on. So I turned it on and it was working fine.

It was about a week before he came back out to replace the part and since I knew I had already paid American Home Shield, I told him to go ahead and replace the part because I was not going back and reverse the charges. He went ahead and replaced the part and I watched him to make sure that he actually replaced it. It’s been fine from there. But something that was supposed to be a couple days took over a week. United Air Tampa, Florida is supposed to be so high rated but each time American Home Shield sends those guys out to me, they're always wanting to do something. I understand it’s their job to try to upsell. But I don’t ever get the extra services.

The very first time their technician came out to clean the unit, it was a brand new unit and he said, “Oh, it’s really clean.” The guy also went outside to check the outside unit because the fan wasn’t working. I told him it was a brand new unit and it had been working fine for the last year. I didn't have any problems with it so I told him that whatever he was going disconnect, he needed to go back and reconnect. But since that first incident, whenever that unit turns on outside, it pops.

But I don’t want American Home Shield to call them because the unit is actually working. I’m afraid they’re gonna do something that’s gonna cost more money. I don’t mind paying American Home Shield for the insurance service that they provide for me but I also don’t want them taken for a ride because someone’s doing something underhandedly. When I called out for the next claim, I told them that I prefer not to have that contractor sent out again. But they were the ones that American Home Shield sent out again and I didn't fight it because my air conditioning was broken. So I needed it to be fixed.

My air conditioner works fine now but the outside unit has that noise. I actually called United Tampa and told them about it and they told me they would have someone check. But no one ever came back to me again about that and that was several years ago. Nonetheless, American Home Shield is fine and I have even recommended them.

The technician was here within the hour, found the problem right away, and before I knew it, he had it done. The only thing was that I had to pay $100 out-of-pocket. But I'm very well-pleased with them and I'm very happy. I was gonna call AHS to find out about my refrigerator ‘cause I couldn't get my cold water to come out dispense, it's not working. I normally go ahead and call American Home Shield when I submit claims. It's usually good with the claims reps and the only issue I've had was trying to find out if something was covered. I had an issue with my drainpipe coming out of my shower. A guy came out and he clocked caulked it instead of replacing the pipe with a broken piece. Now, the caulk has worn down, so I called again. The little screw holes that hold the plate on the drain were broken and everybody I talked to said, “Why didn't they just replace the drainpipe, I mean, the pipe itself?” And then we wouldn’t have to be putting in a call again. But when I called, I talked to a girl and she made me sound like it was covered and everything. I called back and I got somebody else and the guy was real sketchy about whether or not it would be covered. I told them I didn’t wanna pay $75 to have them come out and not fix it.

I've also had claims for a receptacle that went out in the bathrooms. A piece broke on it and they replaced that. And then, my stove outlet was coming off the wall and I reported that because I couldn’t blow the stove out. I thought it was like a safety hazard. So, they remounted that on the wall for me securely. Also, I had some fan that went out and they fixed that. The last thing I had done was that drain in my bathroom shower and the guy was in and out and wasn't very insightful. But the electrician that came out one time was really friendly. They explained everything to me and were talkative.

I had an issue with our garage door opener and submitted a claim to American Home Shield online. They then called me and somebody was here the same day to fix it. I was impressed. I've been with AHS for two years now and from the first time I submitted a claim to them, I did it online. It works well 'cause I can just choose what is it online. If I had to call, I'll wait on hold for an hour. They have the company who’s gonna fix it call me, instead of me contacting them. The company puts me in direct contact with the company that will be coming over.

We had some contact issues with the Elite Heating and Cooling where they couldn’t set up when they're gonna be here. They’re either here early or late. They said they're gonna do something and they didn't do it. They came back three months later, then did it. But as soon as I wrote a crappy review, AHS contacted me right afterward.

I got the home warranty for free the first year then used it, then I paid for three years for the service. I kept AHS because I've been satisfied with the quality of the repairs that their contractors did. I've shared AHS with a lot of friends and a lot of them have gotten it and are happy with it. American Home Shield is the best one out there.

I called American Home Shield and they said that was the earliest service I could get.

Then two weeks later, the GE people were available. So, American Home Shield sent a GE professional technician to try to fix the refrigerator the second time, and finally, they were able to repair this thing. But the time frame was too long. Why didn't they send the GE people the first time? It took almost a month from the time I submitted the claim to when it was repaired, and I didn't feel too satisfied. I was certain that I could get a temporary unit if they still couldn't speed up the service, but American Home Shield said they were unable to do that. Nevertheless, the refrigerator is working again, although it's making a very loud noise. I don't want to bother American Home Shield again, however. I feel their rescheduling department must improve their service. They said they know they have to send GE to check this again.

Here is a specific example: I recently scheduled a follow-up service for an issue with my dishwasher that a service contractor had been out previously to fix. The issue was not fixed, so I scheduled a follow-up order. I was not to be charged since I had already paid for the previous work order to fix the issue. I received a work order email saying the service contractor would contact me within 24 hours. Three business days later I had still not heard from anyone. Come to find out someone WITHIN AMERICAN HOME SHIELD cancelled my follow-up service request! They did not contact me first, just cancelled it.

When I called AHS to reschedule the follow-up service, it took 45 min to get a human voice on the line. Then they tell me they cannot expedite the request, even though the cancellation mistake was on their end. So here I am starting the process again. By the way I have been on the phone with them for 59 minutes and 53 seconds and have yet to have this resolved. Bottom line, this warranty is a hassle. Their customer service process is a hassle.

Furthermore, AHS is rarely willing to replace anything of value. We have been customers for over 15 years and they have fully replaced one item in those 15 years which was a water heater. In these 15 years our air conditioner and dishwasher have also been due for replacement. Almost all of the technicians sent out to fix these appliances have repeatedly said the same. However AHS will only cover continual band-aid repairs. The amount they offer to "help" you replace an appliance that really NEEDS to be replaced (but that they prefer to cover with a band-aid repair) is meager. After 15 years with an AHS warranty, we find ourselves considering cancelling our policy.

As a customer of American Home Shield, I am very disappointed with their service. If unrepairable, their warranty covers a replacement appliance of equal features. It is understandable that they don't match the brand when choosing an equivalent. In my case, they matched the features with a different brand, but that brand had completely different dimensions and would not physically fit within my kitchen space. I notified them that the appliance wasn't a suitable replacement because it would be impossible to install.

Both customer associates AND their managers held the line that the dimensions of the appliance and ability to physically install it are NOT a criteria. They further stated that any required modifications to the home, counters, walls, electric, etc to accommodate the new device they chose are not covered, either. They would only offer an appliance they KNEW wouldn't be installable. I am very disappointed that this kind of illogical service is what is not only offered, but upheld by all levels of management.

While American Home Shield's automated system is okay, I prefer talking to a real person. If it's automated, then I'm not sure what key to hit on the phone. They don't give me any suggestion on what key to hit or the automated person doesn't say, "Hit this for a live person." I filed a claim over the phone when my garbage disposal wasn't working and I had great interaction with the contractor who came out. He was a very nice gentleman, was very knowledgeable, and fixed the problem in no time at all. It happened that a switch had to be turned back on and that was it, but it was very nice. Now, everything's been working fantastic.

A couple of years ago, American Home Shield also sent out a repairman to fix my furnace a couple of times and they did a fantastic job. The furnace is old, but it's still working. The contractor told me what the problem was, he fixed it, and there was no problem since. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield is fantastic. I'd tell others to get a home warranty program from them.

I go online and enter the claim, they assign the claim to a contractor, and the contractor contacts me and we set up an appointment to get the claim resolved. My most recent claim was a plumbing issue and I had to call the contractor this time. I've had a couple of problems and follow up with them. The contractor didn't have the part when he was out before and they were supposed to get back to me but they never did so I called a couple of days ago. They have not resolved anything yet and they're supposed to be here on Friday to complete the work that they started back the 1st of November. Still, I have a good experience with American Home Shield so far. While it's rocky sometimes, issues normally get resolved.

I got American Home Shield back in April when I bought my house. The first time I filed a claim with them, I did it over the phone. The second time, I did it online. I kinda like the online better, but sometimes it’s kinda hard since all my stuff doesn’t really fit the categories there. It’s just like a checkbox where you pick this and pick that. It doesn’t show you a comment box. Otherwise, I like AHS' service and I would recommend them.

I had problems with some pipes, one in my kitchen and one in my bedroom. One of them had a leak and one of them was plugged up. It wasn’t draining. The first AHS rep I spoke with was pretty good. She was kind of abrupt but it was okay. AHS sent out a really thorough plumber who explained to me what was going on. I felt really comfortable with what he was doing. He was great. But the guy AHS sent out for my air conditioner, I questioned some of what he’s doing. He was kinda helter-skelter. I asked, “What’s this?” And then he’d go out. He was okay on the whole, but I’ve worked with better.

American Home Shield sent me Handy Randy to help me with my microwave and refrigerator. But when the refrigerator was acting up they sent somebody else out there first and he was just really arrogant. He was saying the refrigerator was abused and that he needed the claim to not be submitted because there had been an abuse, wear and tear. It’s just me and my wife. We go to get a cup of ice, get a glass of water and walk away from it. How the hell can you abuse a refrigerator? He was just lazy.

I told Home Shield I would make a deal with them and it was gonna be fair. I’m not one of those that want something for nothing. How about have somebody back out there, different person. If they felt like it was abused, I would pay the extra $100, and I would call it in and buy a new refrigerator. When the man got there, he was very friendly and thorough. He explained what was going on and why it happened. I learned a lot about refrigerator. If he had told me first, I could have done it myself, which was cool. So we got done with it. He got the parts in fast, got here and it was fixed. We haven’t had a bit of problem.

But it took a week to finally get a hold of somebody. You would sit on hold, and sit on hold, and sit on hold. That was just to submit a claim from the very beginning. It was real bad. When they do decide to do the repair, it also took forever to get a hold of somebody on my end. The claims end of it, it wasn’t as bad. When I finally got a hold of somebody, I voiced my opinion. It sucked. I’ve never had such a customer service, without customer service. I could tell that was corporate, not hiring enough help. So why would I club somebody that hasn’t have no control over that.

We’ve had Home Shield on our family for years and I had it many years ago. I never had this problem, ever -- none of my aunts, uncles or mom. There’s like 10 of us that have Home Shield. There has been a change about four years ago. My mom was telling me she had a problem with her pool pump and at that point, she's only had to call them three times in 10 years, and it just took her forever to get a hold of somebody.

But the workmanship from the technicians, other than that one, was great. It always has been. I would recommend American Home Shield. Their corporate office needs to hire more help. But other than that, I have no problems with it. I like AHS. When I first signed up for it many years ago, it was like $30 of co-pay. Service is good once you got a hold of somebody.

We’ve had an excellent experience with American Home Shield with the exception of one time, on the air conditioning, wherein we had to wait a month and a half for a compressor to come in and right in the middle of July. But they were very good. They let us go and buy two fans to set up and cool around. It wasn’t their fault because the wrong compressor was sent and then the guys who did the work were 45 miles away. Other than that, I’ve been very pleased with AHS. We’ve had them for several things and my only complaint is when you call in to turn in a work order or a product that’s not working properly, you don’t get a live human, just a recording. Now, I would get a text message. It would be nice sometimes if you could get somebody on the phone. Sometimes, if I wanna just talk to somebody, it’s hard. You have to wait an hour or so to get to speak to somebody.

They’ve sent out one contractor for plumbing here, from Indianola. We had a hot water heater that burst and flooded the garage and a part of the house. I took care of all that and sucked it all up. They sent somebody who has been here twice and they were excellent. The people they sent out on plumbing and the guy that comes out on the air conditioning from Henryetta, were excellent, too. However, we had one bad experience with Appliance Experts who came out on a refrigerator. He was ugly and rude to me, and talked smart to me. I told AHS about it and they sent somebody in his place and they said, “We’d never have to use him ever again if we call an appliance man.”

American Home Shield has a really good service and they do a really good work. There was not a problem with their process at all. However, they changed it recently and I don’t like how they do things. We pay by the month and you give them your debit card and take it out of the account each month. And that’s okay, but I told them that we would prefer paying six months at a time and just send them a check but they don’t really do that. They wanna take it out of your debit card each month and we don’t like that. I had to write them a special thing so I’d remember to take it our every month. Other than that, AHS is a very good company and I have recommended them to other people.

AHS suggested that they replace the whole unit because just to replace one part would have cost $3,500 and then they would have had to add the Freon. AHS said that in the long run it was better to get the new unit.

The sink in the kitchen wasn’t working. We needed the whole spray piece and the faucets, and underneath the sink the pipe wasn’t working right either. I normally call American Home Shield to submit a claim. After a lot of pressing numbers, you'll get somebody if it’s in the hours that you should call. Otherwise, the reps will tell you to go online. If you don’t have a computer, you stay on the phone and you’ll get somebody. Then, after you get somebody on the phone, you might have to be put you on hold two or three times before you get to somebody again. But when I got to a live person, our interactions were not bad at all.

The last time, I requested that AHS send another plumber out because it wasn't a nice experience we had with that contractor. It took a little time for them to find another contractor, but the company that they sent out, Family Plumbing, was excellent. If I had a problem again, I don’t wanna see anybody but this contractor. When their two techs came in, they looked and assessed the damage. They were knowledgeable about what needed to be done and they didn’t tell me that the problem may be due to something that I did wrong. They had to replace the pipe. Also, they had to come back a second time because they had to get approval to do the work. But when they came back, they were prepared and didn't have to run to Home Depot to get the part. They were able to fix the problem at the second visit.

AHS said, though, that they didn’t cover plumbing, so we had to pay the contractor out of our pocket to do the repair. We had to pay them two hundred dollars. Plus, we had to pay $108.63 for the service fee, which is what it’s gonna cost you if you make a call and somebody comes out. So, all in all, the whole cost was $300. AHS told me that I needed another coverage, so I had to add another coverage to my warranty and I hope I never have that problem with them again. But despite all that, I was glad to get the problem fixed and have the repair done by people that really knew what they were doing.

I’ve also had problems with my oven and with my microwave. Sometimes, AHS had to go all the way to another state to get a contractor to come out, but they took care of the problem. If you have an emergency, you have to tell them. If you have one bathroom like we do in this old house and your bathroom is down, they consider that an emergency and they’ll get someone to come out to your house that same day.

I recommended AHS to my brother and to my sister because I’ve had them for a while. But there were some experiences I had with them that I wouldn’t like to repeat. But the last one was very good and I really liked those guys that came out. When they got here and found out that the repair was not covered, they still tried to work with us. They knew we were elderly and they were not trying to take advantage of us. Working with them was very positive.

I had a plumbing issue claim to American Home Shield which I submitted to them online. The submission process was easy. At first, I was hesitant but the three times that I’ve used this, it turns to be very easy. When we submit the claim, within 24 hours, I get a call from somebody that was gonna do the job. The three contractors came in. They were all on time, did the job, and explained what they did. I’m happy with it so far and it has been good overall.

I went online for my original claim with American Home Shield. It was for a plumbing problem. The turnaround time was almost immediate because the contractor was in the area. But with this particular case, I had a lot of problems with the plumber. The plumber said the issue was with the air conditioning so AHS called for Waggoner AC & Refrigeration. But the plumber was wrong and I didn’t need someone for the air conditioning at all. The air conditioning people were fine, though. I deal with American Home Shield for two different houses and it has always been good. Even the technicians have been good, except for that plumber.

The air was not getting cool. It was just constantly blowing hot air. We got in touch with American Home Shield and it took a while. I had to go through so many steps and get put on hold. The first time, it was sent to a contractor who didn't service the area and they said that if they did come out, it would be a couple of weeks. I couldn't wait that long because I had a sick relative that we needed air-conditioning and their temperature was running in the 100. Then, AHS gave me another vendor and that vendor didn't service this area. They said it would be another week or two weeks or so before they could go out.

Finally, I told AHS they gotta give me somebody that can help me so, they gave me A-1 Service who came out and did a great job. The tech was friendly, professional, asked what problem I was having, and went straight to it. I would use them again anytime. If any other issues occur, I would want them to come back out. Having a home warranty is very, very valuable. I wish American Home Shield would get more people to assist because there has been a certain time in the day that I would call and it would be a long, long wait time. I would sit on the phone for, at least, over an hour waiting for a rep to come. But I would recommend AHS.

I submitted online my claim for my furnace which was not blowing heat and it was extremely easy. The contractor called me 30 minutes before they were coming to tell me they were on their way. And then once I got there, they dealt with my tenants who then had nothing but good things to say about them. They said they worked in a timely fashion, cleaned up after themselves and they fixed everything. On the previous call, they fixed an air conditioner for me. There were some things that weren't included so they called me, let me know and told me the price. I had a really good experience. I was very happy with their service.

American Home Shield has been very easy to deal with. The rep calls me first. But every time it seemed things happened on a weekend or for our recent one, on Thanksgiving, so they've all sent me a message, "Hey, we're gonna contact you" and they contact me on the next working day. We set everything up, then they send their people out. The people that they contract call me and set up appointment. They're there on time and they finish timely. And then American Home Shield calls me and asks me if everything went okay. I've been extremely pleased with everything they've done so far.

Save your money and sanity & don't use American Home Shield. Difficult to schedule service calls and, once scheduled, they send inferior contractors who don't know how to identify and fix issues. Was charged close to $500, because HVAC/heating issue wasn't covered under the warranty. (Of course it wouldn't be!) The tech wasn't gone for thirty minutes when the system stopped working again - money down the drain. And then he said it wasn't an HVAC problem but an electric issue, but of course he wouldn't return the $$.

Took a week for electrician to come out and he said it wasn't an electric issue but HVAC. Arrrrggghhh - another 4 days for a service call. Meanwhile, no heat and freezing temps. This has already been going on for 2 weeks so I called a local service company, they came out within an hour and diagnosed & fixed problem. Immediately called AHS to cancel contract - they bent over backwards to try to convince me to keep contract, but totally not worth it.

Updated on 12/13/2018: Another visit was made on 12/11. The tech was scheduled for 2-5 pm. He showed up at about 7:30 pm. After working on the unit for an hour and a half he determined that the new parts ordered would not work. Another technician came on 12/13 with another new part. He was finally able to complete the job. AHS customer service has responded to my first review and is providing a refund of the $125 incident charge. While this is a step in the right direction AHS has not called me when promised and done nothing to expedite approvals and shipment of parts.

If handled properly this probably would have been about a $500 job contracting directly with a local vendor and been completed in a week or less. Taking into account the monthly AHS fee and incident charge how did I fare? Not a huge saving even with the incident charge waived balanced against the time wasted in having to be here for the three 3 hour visit time frames plus the visit time itself adding up to well over ten hours. Then there is the discomfort of trying to keep warm for five weeks without central heat in temperatures dipping into the '20s at night.

Original Review: I had a furnace blower motor failure. No heat. Requested service online with AHS on Saturday 11/10. Because of holiday heating contractor called me on 11/13 and had tech visit on 11/14. Heating contractor had to get approval from AHS to proceed. They sent e-mail to AHS on 11/15. On 11/20 contractor said they were waiting for response from AHS. When I called AHS they lied and said that they had just received the request on 11/20 and had given the go ahead to the contractor so they could order parts.

AHS should have given ok on 11/15 when they received the approval request. 5 days was lost. The contractor made a second visit on 11/27 and discovered some additional parts are needed. Another delay for a week. These parts are shipped locally in state via Pony Express. AHS would provide no assistance in expediting parts delivery. By the time my furnace gets fixed I will have been out of heat for almost a month. We are in our 80s. This is unacceptable service.

I have had AHS on my old house for over 5 years and when we purchased our new home, I was adamant to tell the seller that the only home warranty I'd accept with AHS because of our previous experience with them. Beginning 7/12, we opened a case with AHS due to no air coming out of our vents and not being able to cool down the house in our Sacramento weather of over 100 plus degrees every day. AHS sent a technician that took over two weeks to come look at the problem, a month later we were still waiting for follow up from this company to fix our 'leaking ductwork', only for the company to call us and tell us they have only ONE technician and he's hospitalized and they can't do the work.

Following up with AHS (Mind you hours of hold times and explaining over and over to reps what's going on that don't seem to be on the same page), they sent out ANOTHER company to diagnose the problem on 8/27 - this company then indicates there are NO ISSUES and we shall live with no AC. Fast forward to 10/14, the company sends out a 'second opinion' that turned off our furnace ALTOGETHER indicating we have a fire hazard. (YES FOLKS, we're now in winter and not able to heat up the house!) Only for weeks later after not hearing from anyone and AHS being confused on who's supposed to do what work, AHS tells us this last company they sent indicated that our Unit is 'too small' and that's why we are not receiving any air.

Fast forward to this past week, thinking okay, maybe the furnace is too small, we have hired three competent heating and air companies to give us a quote on 'upgrading' the furnace and fixing the ductwork and taking a look at the AC unit. ALL THREE COMPANIES indicated to us that the furnace is hazardous and on its last breath. However IT IS indeed the correct size for our house (we learned we have 4 ton unit with an output of 80,000 BTU/HR good enough for 2500-3500 sq. ft. with 1650 CFM - PLENTY for our 2300 sq. ft. of space).

They indeed found leaks in the ductwork and a kink in the AC line coming out of the house and into the AC pump outside. All these issues summing up to our problems, all three companies had the same solution which is to replace the furnace, fix the duct work and replace the line to AC unit. I'm not sure how THREE companies that AHS sent did not see this; we cannot afford to replace the furnace which is why we have a warranty. I plan to take all legal remedies to solve this problem.

I've had them for about 18 years on my current property. But be aware what you are getting. They have 20 loophole on how not to pay for items. Their contractors are the guys in town that can't get business from anyone else. Example, you have a kitchen exhaust fan go bad... If they cannot get parts from your manufacturer then they will offer half of what is costs for replacement (claiming they have volume purchasing benefits). Or they offer you a non matching brand replacement. Now... they don't guarantee that the replacement offered will work... and the contractor won't tell you if it will or won't so that's all on you, good luck. I could go on and on with countless examples. So decide if you can deal with all the crap and read the fine print that changes often.

The first company they sent out also had no experience working with our brand of dishwasher, even though they ask for the brand name when you make the service request. As a result, the first company was not able to fix the dishwasher. They said they would send someone else out the next week. And who showed up at our house, the same worker from the week before who knew nothing about the dishwasher and said "I tried to Google this, but I still can't figure it out."

We then asked for a second company to come out, and when the company called, the owner said he also had no experience with our brand. We have been calling daily to check for updates. No one communicates anything with us (the dishwasher company and AHS included). I literally have no idea how they stay in business with their inadequate communication skills and false promises. I even found out through my many calls that more than half of the calls I have made were not documented. This means I have to share my story and history with this issue each time I talk to someone new. No one has been to our house to look at our dishwasher in over two weeks. I have never dealt with such an ineffective and unreliable company as AHS. I will not be renewing coverage. I prefer to talk to reps when I file a claim with AHS and the customer service is fine. At one point in time, you would have to be on hold for an hour. I timed it. I was on hold for an hour and 19 minutes one time just to be able to talk to a rep. But that since has gotten better. They assign a contractor within a day or two. I try not to use Ball’s as their contractor because they don’t always do the job the way they're supposed to do. Usually, I go with another company. Sometimes Ball’s can be a hit or miss. They have to come back and redo a job.

I'm dealing with an issue right now, that’s almost been a month with this particular company. I started the process on 11-6, and we're at 11-28, and the job still hasn’t been completed. But someone’s coming out today. They said it needed a senior tech. Also we have to deal with the timeframe of the parts to come in. It's unfortunate that when it happens in holidays it's taking at least four to five to get the part in, and then it takes a day or two for them to schedule an appointment. For instance that the part came in Monday. They called me Monday while the guy was here Tuesday because I told them I do have special needs in my home, and we actually needed to do that.

If they have to switch to a different service company, then they do, but I constantly contact them. And in some matters, depending upon the time frame, it has been expeditious. If they can not have you on hold, it may be far beyond their control. If it's not too long to speak to a customer service rep to book a service call, then that will help a whole lot. But I have been able to call back and get into some areas so it depends on the service needs.

I requested to get the cash and went through my own licensed plumber, and he just changed a part of the heater. It took two months to get the money to me though, and AHS only gave $500. Even a new water heater is around $750.

One more thing. When I needed to speak to a representative, I had to hold for a minimum of one hour. There is an option for a new sale or for service. If I choose the option for sale, somebody would pick up the call within two minutes. But if you need to do a customer claim and you choose the option for service, you would wait more than one hour.

It took almost over three weeks to process that last claim even though I spoke to AHS, gave them the information they needed, and I asked them to do it as the way we’ve done it in the past. But the work is completed now.

Other than that, I never had a problem with the guys who came to fix our problems and AHS has been very good. Sometimes, the tenant has to wait for their call and doesn't get any answer from them. But in the past, they would call me and kind of give me a heads-up on the progress on the job. I liked that and I'd like to get that again from them. They can call me by all means as I wanna be involved. Also, I bought my credit card but I told them not to use it for the claims because the tenant will give them their credit card. But AHS has done it a couple times and I had to call them on that then get money back because it ended up doing double payment from the tenant. So, the confusion came there because when the first two technicians came out, one came out for the central air and heat, and the other one came out for the furnace. But I told them that one of the repairs was cancelled. Then I received an email from American Home Shield weeks later saying that I had a past due balance of $100. I told them that that was paid but I came to find out that that was for the one that was supposed to have been cancelled. So, when I called them, their rep said that she was gonna cancel it. But still, if I call them now, my record still shows a hundred due balance. This miscommunication is frustrating. Plus, it's cold, my son is sick, and the furnace still is not working.

This has been going on since November 1st. They changed the thermostat on the wall and cleaned it out. One guy even put in a request to have our furnace replaced. But when the guy, Chris, came out to bring the furnace, it was too big and wasn't gonna fit. So, he cleaned it out. Then he said that there was nothing wrong with it. But there was something wrong because I'm still cold and the pilot light still won't stay lit. He also said that he was gonna come back out because I needed a thermocouple. He's thinking that that's why the pilot light won't stay lit. So right now, I'm very dissatisfied with AHS. After three invoices, wouldn't they make that decision to try to contact another company instead of sending the same company, a different person, and still no result?

I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim for my AC that quit working. The fan motor threw a blade and the AC produced cool air, but the fan wouldn't move. The first contractor who came out was fairly new and does not have a lot of experience. He got up there and he's a hefty guy to be getting up on the attic. But he listened to the AC and at that time, it was tough to tell what might be going on. It had an odd noise, but it was still running. He checked the Freon, and there was nothing done except getting a reading on my Freon. Then within a few weeks later, the AC was running but not cooling well and the noise was getting worse, and all of a sudden, there was a loud clunk, and the whole unit shut down.

The first person who came didn't detect the problem that existed. It manifested itself by the fan coming apart, shutting the motor and the whole unit down, which meant the compressor too. It also meant that I no longer had any refrigerant either, which wouldn't matter because I had no fan to move the cool air. So, I called AHS and asked them not to send the same person back out. The second tech knew what he was doing. In fact, he had to disassemble the fan motor and he showed me what happened. That's how I finally knew about it. The tech had to wait for two days to get the replacement part but he was able to resolve the problem. My latest experience was a bitter pill to swallow since we didn't get it done on a timely manner and had inconvenience from it. But overall, I've had good experiences with American Home Shield.

Our AC was not blowing cold air. Whenever things like that happened, to submit a claim with American Home Shield I typically logged into my account and requested for service online and doing that was super easy. The contractor, Handyman Cooling Services, came out. Their techs were amazing. They were super nice and I love them. I have an older AC unit and it took a lot of effort because they went all the way down their checklist of what's normally wrong with it and they were there almost all day, but they figured out the problem and they were able to take care of it.

The only thing that we had a problem with was that for some reason the service call got double-filed when the contractor called it in. So, I had already paid for my service fee and then they wanted me to pay again. But then I called and that was fixed. The techs are coming out again this afternoon because now the heating part of the unit is not working. But our AC unit is 30 years old, so that might be part of it. Other than that, I wish AHS did septic stuff as it’s gonna cost a lot of money for that. Nevertheless, I would recommend them.

They were on-time. They came out when they said they were gonna come out. Even though they kinda explained to me what was going on, they kinda went in and out the other ear. But they were trying to explain to me about it. They just had awesome personalities. They were very professional. I would recommend them to anybody. I only had a warranty on my kitchen appliances which was with Sears. My friends kept telling me that I needed to have my whole house covered too and most of them had American Home Shield. They were telling me how little it costs to protect your whole house, your air conditioning unit, your electrical, your plumbing and all of that. So I told my husband about it and we had a little discussion. Maybe we should get the whole house done because we’re paying a lot of money. My friends said that if we had American Home Shield, we would only pay $59 or $60 for that, so we did it. We trusted our friends and they were right.

We joined American Home Shield and since then they send a workman out if we have a problem, get our things done, we pay our deductible, and we’re good. When we submit claims, my husband goes online and requests somebody and then we get a call. One time, we had an AC issue and American Home Shield sent out Comfort First, the only contractor that could fix it, knew what the problem was and explained what it was. We've had two AC people out four times in a couple of months to fix the unit but it would always go back to not working. It would work for a couple of days then break down again. I had a $1,500 part replaced the year before and a $1,000 part replaced a year before that.

When Comfort First came, however, their guy said that there was a part that needed to be replaced. After that, it has been smooth sailing ever since. We just paid American Home Shield our $100 deductible and it would have saved us a lot of money if I had American Home Shield before that AC issue. Overall, we’ve been very happy with American Home Shield and would tell other friends to give it a try as well. All of my friends who have it are happy with it and it has been great. I wholeheartedly recommend American Home Shield.

The only issue I had with the whole thing was that after they fixed it, they warrantied for only a certain amount of time and two days after it went out of warranty, the refrigerator broke down again. So I had to pay another $100 service call. If it would’ve broken down the day before then I wouldn’t have had to pay the $100 service fee. It seemed like it was the same issue. I was with American Home Shield probably for about 10 years. I also paid for coverage on a house in Florida that was my son's and I gave him an American Home Shield contract for a Christmas present one year. When he used it, it was his air conditioner. Their policy is if they couldn't fix it, then they would replace it with the same quality or better. In that particular case, they didn’t put in a unit big enough to do his house. The outside unit that they put in was smaller capacity than the one that he had and it never cooled the house right. My son had to put four fans down in his house in order to cool the house off. I was very dissatisfied with that and so was he. So, I dropped the coverage on his house and my own for a couple of years and went with another company and they were horrible.

The most recent claim we had with AHS was for my air conditioner. They promptly sent someone out here who came the next day. They repaired two condensers and everything has been good. The only problem I have is that I signed up and it's a $100 deductible, but then they always charge me $6 more and say it's sales tax. It was never explained to me that I would be charged that and I don’t think it's right. I realize it's not a lot of money but it's the idea of it.

I recommended American Home Shield to someone and she called up and took a policy with them. AHS used to give a free consultation fee if you called up and recommended somebody. They would give a $60-credit and you could use it if you had a problem towards paying for your co-pay, but they no longer do that, which I don’t think is fair. If you're gonna recommend somebody, you should be able to get something out of it. So, I don’t even bother to recommend them anymore for that very reason. Although, I don’t have a problem with them. I like them.

It took a long time to get fixed and I ended up having to go through another company to come in and remedy the problem. On the third time, the guy came and did the exact same thing. It still didn’t fix it and he said he sent AHS a report. I called AHS to get another company and they were saying that it was fixed and everything was good. However, the guy who tried to fix it knew it wasn’t. There was a communication issue between AHS and them. AHS ended up going with somebody else and at that point, the guy came in and found the heater was stuck. He put a new panel on it to fix it and since then, it has been good.

We’ve had issues with our furnace and washing machine and they were great about getting someone qualified to my home in a timely manner. Everything there was positive. However I started receiving a charge on my account of 9.99 every month on top of my monthly premium. Sometimes twice a month. I called and they sent me transferred me to different departments to try to figure it out but nobody could. So I was forced to cancel my policy.

The problem after that is that I kept getting billed afterwards and whenever I would call to try to fix the issue, I just get transferred and put on hold and until I finally give up. Today I got a letter from a collection agency. So once again I called and just got transferred and put on hold. It seems like nobody knows what they are doing in the billing department. I’m so upset about this I would have given zero stars if they didn’t have good service up until that point. Very disappointed.

Each person (when you finally get a real person online) sends you to another number and you are again on hold, get a robot or are hung up on. The first excuse 3 months ago was the phone system was being updated however nothing has changed. I believe this is a scam as nothing gets repaired and AHS never communicates with the owner! I will give a very specific review of trying to get our stove and spa fixed in another review rating the company's unwillingness or the inability of those who take a phone call to help solve service problems.

This review concerns the dozens and dozens of phone calls I have made to at least a dozen of AHS' 800 numbers to no avail. The only number that answers on the first ring is the Sales Department who connects you to a service number where again no one answers or you are told you have a longer than 30 minute wait. When you agree with the robot to have the company call back, they don't! My husband and I are so angry we have wasted our time and money on this company who does not care about its customers! I normally do not write reviews especially bad ones, but am at my wits end to figure out how to talk to someone who can resolve our issues.

I am very disappointed in the recent service/dealing with AHS. My family and I arrived home on a Saturday to a home that had no heat. Keep in mind we live in Chicago and this was after Thanksgiving weekend. I called them right away and they submitted a claim. I had to call the contractor to set up an appointment. The contractor was supposed to be 24/7. I called numerous times and left messages (they finally returned my call on Monday). We kept trying until late into the night, no success. We called them the following morning (Sunday) still no answer. I called AHS back and explained our situation again. They said they will push it to their dispatchers and we should get a call back in 2-4 hrs, 5 hrs later I called them back. They then told me they will give me authority to contact my own contractor and get the work completed. By this time we now had close to 10inches of snow and it was 22 degrees outside.

AHS procedures requires an outside contractor to call them and get an authorization number before performing the work. This number has to be on the receipt. This must be done or when I submitted the receipts or I would not get reimbursed. After calling three different companies they either refused to deal with AHS or AHS required so much information that they could provide at the time they would not deal with them. After numerous calls back and forth with AHS we finally got someone to come out on Monday afternoon. This wasn't the end...they did not have the part so they had to come back the following day. I'm not totally disappointed with all the personnel I spoke with, I would recommend they revise their procedures for emergency services. When someone loses heat in the midst of winter it's imperative to get them back up and running.

Our garage door opener stopped working. Called AHS but no customer service representative was available without a long wait time. The recording suggested using the website instead. I followed instructions and was sent an email telling me a service technician would contact me. Two days later I got a call from a technician who could meet me that afternoon. I took off work to meet him at my house. He promptly informed me that my torsion spring broke and needed to be replaced. He said he would have to get permission from AHS to use new parts which he had on his truck.

He said in the past five months AHS began requiring him to use refurbished parts instead. He didn’t have any refurbished torsion springs and said they could take several weeks to locate. When he called AHS, they informed him that they were denying the claim. The policy listed two exclusions, the garage door itself and the track assembly. He was confused as the torsion spring is obviously not the door and is not part of the track assembly and does not even come into contact with the track.

As he is telling me this AHS calls me to deny my coverage. I objected and was told a supervisor would review the denial. In the meantime I spoke to the technician who said I could pay him directly for the service since it had to be done anyway. I paid him the full price he said AHS would have paid him to do the service. Took him 25 minutes and a $50 part to fix the door. I paid him the $200, thanked him and went back to work. By the time I got back to work AHS had already charged me $100 service fee for the service call. I called them to let them know they could cancel the service and that I paid it myself out of pocket. The customer service rep said she couldn’t refund the $100 even though they denied me service.

She gave me the Toll free number to call the correct department to get this charge reversed. The representative in that department was very sympathetic and agreed that the contract exclusion was very vague and misleading. She assured me that her supervisor had the authority to remove that charge and would call me later to discuss the situation. She called me about 8:00 that night to tell me that she reviewed the case and that she would not remove the $100 charge. I discussed at length with her how I felt it was unfair to charge me for service that was denied. She made it clear that only they can determine what is covered when the contract does not list it as an exclusion.

I explained I had already paid the full amount to the service technician. They told me that didn’t matter and that I had to pay them $100 just for filling out the web form to request help. No one ever called me to ask any questions about the problem from AHS. They just dispatched a technician. In the end, I ended up paying $300 for a $200 service. It cost me $75.99 every month for years to have a company then charge me another $100 just to tell me they don’t cover the items my warranty says are covered. This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

I've had had American Home Shield for a couple of things this year. One was with the replacement of the in-sink garbage disposal. I called them and within about 24 hours, I got a call from the local vendor who set up a time to come. They had been here several times for problems related to it but now, it was doing even worse. It was leaking. The guy came in and ordinarily, he has to call for approvals but it was leaking, it was old, and it was time to replace it. He called his supervisor and put stuff in his in-truck computer. He said if he had one in the truck and if he had approval, he would be putting in the new one that day. He did. It went in very quickly. It's not a complicated device. And he was out of here in 10 or 15 minutes and I had a good working garbage disposal.

The garbage disposal has been working fine. I am not a lover of in-sink garbage disposal, so I use it sparingly. I've learned some things along the way. When I first moved into the house with the garbage disposal, I really didn't use it and the repair guys who have come over the years have shown me that I have to use it and that stuff gets down in there even if it's little stuff. It has made my whole process of, not just cooking, but also getting things into the dishwasher or washing things in the sink much faster.

I've had varying experiences with AHS but what has been consistent throughout the 10 years is that American Home Shield delivers what it says it will deliver. So, I know what to expect when the vendors come, I know what the process will be, and I'm content to just have it go through the process. Also, having come from a place where it was not a common practice to the South where I'm at living now where it is a common practice, I am happy that I have the service. I encourage any of my friends who become transplants like I was, one of the first things is to get a home warranty plan. I can recommend American Home Shield because they're the only company I've used in the 10 years I've been in this house.

My gas heat unit wasn’t heating and when I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, it was simple doing it online. I've been with them for a year and I haven’t had any problems with them. I've used them three times this year and my experience with their reps was a good deal. The contractor came right out, but the one AHS sent out for the heat and air got busy as it got cold that day. It was the first real cold snap and it was three days before they could put me on schedule. I was expecting that it might have been within a day. I didn’t like it, but I have seen that their contractor has been overwhelmed with a bunch of repairs. Other than that, the quality of every repair has been good and I haven’t had any problems that they had to come back.

The contractors that American Home Shield have sent out in the past were okay. I submitted a claim online 4 days ago about my toilet that is not sitting right on the floor and that needed to be fixed. However, I didn’t receive any calls in connection to that claim until now.

I've had American Home Shield for many, many years. I've had air conditioners replaced and ovens fixed. I had a GE oven that kept messing up, but at the time, we found out the technician was not really qualified to be working on that. He replaced the motherboard about three times and still didn't fix the problem. It was around the holiday and my wife is a baker, and it was aggravating not being able to use our oven. I had a friend that owned an appliance store and he stopped by one day. I said, "This guy keep fixing this, and it's not fixed." He said, "Let me look at it," and he looked at it and he said, "Oh, this is a $9 part. Something's wrong with your probe. I'll bring you one from my shop." He did and put it in and fixed it. I called the contractor about it and told him not to come back here. I called AHS too and told somebody that the man was incompetent and they need to really get somebody else.

I started with AHS in 1994 and stayed with them until 2009. I built a brand-new house and didn't need them the next couple of years because the appliances in the house was working. If I did have a problem, I'd just call my builder and he would send somebody to fix it, and it didn't cost me. But then, I bought this other house for my daughter to live in. It's a new house, but not brand-new, and I immediately called American Home Shield and had it covered. We've only used AHS here twice. Once for plumbing and the other time for the washing machine that would not drain. AHS sent the contractor and fixed it. So far, I'm satisfied with AHS and will renew as I usually do. If someone would ask me about American Home Shield, I'd tell them to get it. As a matter of fact, over the years, I have told a lot of people to get it.

American Home Shield is on top of things and they do what they say they're gonna do. We’ve been with them for quite a while and I would never go to another company because I know what I got with American Home Shield. I have a friend whose hot water heater ran out and it cost over 1,200 bucks. I told her that if she would've had American Home Shield, she would've paid $75. She asked for their number so she could sign up. I gave her AHS' number.

I typically don’t have a problem with American Home Shield's reps when filing claims. They take care of me and I get off the phone. It’s pretty painless. I like specific contractors AHS has too. Typically, I have A & J Sales and Prescott & Sons. They could come to my house every day and not have a problem. They do what they’re supposed to do. They’re in and out.

But there's one contractor that I will not allow back to my house, Moos Plumbing. He was in and out of my house seven times before he said he was done but my faucets were still leaking. Most recently, I called American Home Shield since my dishwasher wouldn’t open or release soap. The contractor claimed to have fixed the problem, but it's still not fixed.

I’m very dissatisfied with AHS and I was getting to the point of canceling. I filed a claim and received an email from them. They were very good about giving out the first email once I did the claim to set it up. I saw the number and the name of the company. I got to text them right away, then they wanted me to call in 24 hours. A woman called the next day and she scheduled the appointment the following day. She said it would be from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. I’m in California and it was 4:00 to 6:00 here. I woke up and I was ready for the phone call, but they didn’t call. I waited for 9:00 and I called the company a few times, but there was no answer. They should be awake or open because it was their hours. The message said that I must leave the whole dispatch number or they won’t be able to help me.

The woman I talked to didn’t call back that day at all. A guy called me at about 9:45 and said that he was running late. He didn’t call me during the window time that he’d be late but I told him to come on out. He came here and did the thing. There were a few outlets that were out, but he fixed only one. I wasn’t there, so I didn’t see him fix it, but my friend came to check it and she said that the other outlet wasn’t working. I texted the guy and he said to call AHS. I called AHS and spoke to somebody. That was on a weekend and the guy said they'd come back out again, but that didn’t happen.

The next day, the company called me once and I missed the call. I had the same problem that I had earlier when I called them. Nobody ever answered the phone. I think it’s one of those mobile companies where they wanna call you, but you can’t call them back. The woman also told me she was by herself so I think it is a very small operation. She didn’t call me at all until later in the day and she said that she couldn’t send the guy out the next day. She was very rude to me, too. I told her that this was the second time and it was upsetting. The outlet is sparkling and it needs to be fixed. It’s a bigger deal than a small outlet not working. She told me she didn’t have anything the next day and that I could call AHS.

I called AHS back again and I was on hold for over two hours, between getting on and getting off. After 47 minutes on hold, I hung up. Then I called back and tried a different prompt. I tested that a few times and I was on hold between 5 and 15 minutes, trying something else. It was horrible. I then ended up going online. I have been looking for another way to get back with them. There was a way to do it on Facebook and I was willing to try it out. They ended up giving me another company. The number they gave me sounded like someone’s cell phone number. I called a few times and nobody ever called me back. At this point, I have been waiting since last Thursday when I first called to get someone to come out and fix the problem. In this situation, I was already charged but I think I should be refunded. I’m gonna call my credit card company and dispute the charge.

The air conditioning problem was similar. AHS sent a company who called me and said, “We’re coming out tomorrow between this time and this time.” That day, they called me and said they couldn’t come and that they were gonna come the next day. The next day, the guy didn’t call when he came. He was supposed to call me so I could give him instructions. Supposedly, he knocked on the door. I was not home but my next-door neighbor was there for him. My next-door neighbor said the contractor didn’t knock on the door. The door is 2 feet away from my next-door neighbor. I called AHS back and they got another company who came out and fixed the problem. They were awesome. Also, when I called for plumbing, the contractor came out here right away and fixed the problem.

Initially, I was trying to find a home warranty company, and AHS was recommended to me by two people. I have a condo in Florida and I live in California. I had Service America and I didn’t really like them because it took a long time for me to get a hold of them on the phone, but they’re better than my experiences with AHS. I thought AHS would be more reputable, but they’re not vetting their contractors. They just send anybody who signs up. They should make sure the person or company they send has a good history.
