Gas water called in for failure. Water was warm but not hot. Two days later a tech visits and "fixes". Less than a week later (Christmas) complete failure. Tech visits again and recommends replacement. Request denied... on camera. On day FOUR of no hot water. Tech not calling back and AHS treading water. They gladly took my money but continue to make excuses. Honesty and professionalism must be concepts that are of no concern! Beware!
Hi, Tina. I apologize that you are experiencing issues with your hot water heater. A member of our Social Media team will contact you directly.

I called American Home Shield about my refrigerator that wasn’t keeping cold. The gentleman came out, looked and said, “They could put a coil in, but you need a new refrigerator.” He reported his findings back to AHS and one of their reps called me and told me how to proceed. If I want to get the money back, they can cash me out or I could get a new refrigerator. I just want the new refrigerator so I went online and followed all the prompts and ordered a black refrigerator.
I was under the assumption that all refrigerators open from right to left. December 11th, they called and brought out the refrigerator. I had been out of town, so I was disoriented, I just got back in at night. Three gentleman took out my white refrigerator and they saw that it opens from left to right, but they brought this black refrigerator in and I didn’t notice that they open from right to left. It’s the opposite of my cabinets so when I have to open up my refrigerator, I have to walk around the door to open it and put stuff. I started calling and the gentlemen at Baron’s who brought the refrigerator out said, “Well, we closed the case. Call AHS and that’s the only way we can come back out.”
So, I called AHS and they finally reopened the case. Last week, a very nice representative called and she explained to me that since refrigerator has already been delivered, there was nothing that they could do. She told me that it was my fault and that I should have told them which way the refrigerator opens. I told her that there was nowhere on the website nor did any of the representatives ever tell me that I should tell them what side the handle was on.
I said, “Well, what happen to the 30 days? What happen to customer satisfaction? How about AHS meet me halfway and we rectify this situation and have somebody come back out?” They said, "Well, no. We can’t do that.” I’ve been a loyal customer for 12 years. I didn’t even complain when I had to wait almost two months for their refrigerator to come out. I waited, I dealt with the situation, I bought ice and I’d been cooler. And some years, I’ve never even used this home warranty. But it’s like insurance daily in the sense that you must be insured, so whenever situation happen, you are prepared.
AHS failed me in the two ways. One was when I ordered the refrigerator and I talked to the rep. No one ever said, “Make sure that you tell us what side the refrigerator opens on. And two, we could have a meeting of the minds. Even if I had to pay a certain amount for somebody to come back out and redo this, they should not shut me down like I’m at fault. They missed it and they should take care of the situation. Customer is not always right, but I did nothing wrong although I was ignorant for not asking the right questions.
In my opinion, the people who came out and delivered the refrigerator noticed that that the refrigerator opens from right to left when they took my white refrigerator away. There were three men and they should have seen them but they hurried up and got out of here. I’m angry with AHS because they are my spokespeople and in this sense, we both dropped the ball so they should help me rectify this situation. That’s all I’m asking. I’m happy with AHS and I have no desire to get rid of them. I’ll just see that out of my pocket. I don’t know what it’s gonna cost me to have them come and redo that door but that’s what I’m gonna have to do.

The pump on my swimming pool went bad and I called American Home Shield up to submit the claim for repair. I talked to a rep and we had a good interaction. The contractor called and said someone would call me within 24 hours, but it was actually less than 24 hours. The contractor came out and I was outside for a minute or two while he was doing it, and he told me what he did. He replaced the pump and it worked really good. And the last time I had to call him, the waterline from the motor to the filter had broken loose and they came out and repaired it without any problem.
The person that came out was accurate. He knew what he was doing and he answered the questions that I asked him. Everything has been operating well since the repair. Having the warranty has also been good. I have small fees and the pump probably costs twice as much as more than what I paid, so it was very good. My water bill went up before they fixed the issue, but after they fixed everything, I’m imagining my bill would go down now. I like American Home Shield.

I submitted my claim to American Home Shield online and that was easy. It was just a couple of clicks and it was done. Then I received the information from the service provider, Piedmont Mechanical. I called them to make my appointment on a Friday and Cody came on Monday. We told the gentleman what we were doing and he spent 15 minutes looking at the furnace. He identified what the issue was and had it fixed within an hour. He was very nice and efficient.

This was the first time I ever had to deal with American Home Shield and it was seamless. In fact, I was surprised at how easy it was. We filed the claim online, which was easy, and they were very quick. The repairman was out here the next day. Something was wrong with the signaling from the thermostat to the furnace. Originally, we had people come in and service it yearly but they had serviced it to a point that it wasn’t working right. They came back and took it apart but couldn’t figure it out. When American Home Shield's guy came over, he diagnosed the problem and fixed it pretty quickly. He also ordered one part that was unrelated to the repair but he said it could be replaced so we got that. Then he came back and did both things. It was nice. He also did a much better job than the people that we had doing it before. In fact, we’re gonna change over and use him to service our furnace from now on.
Good morning Paul,
I am pleased to hear about your American Home Shield experience and the repairs that were completed on your furnace. It is our goal to choose the best team of contractors to provide you with such great experiences. I hope you continue to enjoy!

My stove's burners are old and they were not heating up. They are not ones I could replace just by pulling out and pulling them in, so there was no way I can do anything about it. I called American Home Shield because the website was down at the time and I couldn't go through. While calling in the claim was easy, I'd rather have the website. I'm assuming it was just a glitch and it was the first time I've ever used them for this stuff. Then Hinco Services contacted me on the same day and they were out the next day. The contractor who came out was polite, very honest, and skilled. It took him a little while to get the parts 'cause the stove is 30 some odd years old but he got the parts. He got the burners fixed and got his work done. Everything's fine with the stove now. American Home Shield has also been great so far.

We had a problem with our washer and we still could wash clothes, but we chose not to until it got fixed. I went online to submit a claim with AHS and requested a technician. That's how I usually submit my claims since it’s handy compared to doing it on the phone. For this recent claim, AHS got back to me online then the technician from A Plus Appliance Repair came out. It turned out that the transmission on the washer was leaking, so he replaced that. He was extremely cordial and very helpful.

There was a power surge because the power pump was being worked on the whole day before. Then it blew and the pool heater went out. Otherwise, everything was beautiful and worked great. We called American Home Shield and asked for help with the issue. Our property manager went over and she told me that the contractor, Brent’s Pool Repair, was awesome. Everything has been great since they came out to make the repairs. AHS responded so quickly and we had a very nice experience with them.
Hi, Dianne. We are pleased to hear that your issue was resolved promptly. Thank you for your positive feedback and for your patronage.

I have two heating elements in my hot water heater and the bottom one was burned out. It was a wonder it didn't catch fire. The contractor came out within an hour and he was smarter way beyond his years the way that he was so professional about everything. He's the nicest guy, and he must have only been in the 20's. The heater has been operating fine since then.
However, we were under the impression that the $100 deductible we paid was going to take care of it, but it did not. When you get that insurance, AHS doesn't tell you that. They tell you that these things are covered and they're gonna go ahead and pay for it with your $100 deductible, but no. I had to pay another $240. It was all stuff that needed to be done but they didn't cover it. We should not have to keep paying the monthly fees and then pay extra on top of the deductible. I checked the Better Business Bureau and everybody complained about the same thing. It has made me think of switching to another advertised home warranty.

My hot tub needed repair and when I looked it up online with my plan, it did say a hot tub was covered. So I made a service call and it was an electrical problem. There were two broken screws on the pump and because they broke off, water was leaking so I needed those replaced first. But the only option was for plumbing. So a plumbing company came out. It was Beck Plumbing Mtc and they didn't do anything.
Then American Home Shield explained to me that my hot tub isn't covered and that it's only an indoor hot tub that's covered. But there was nowhere that says there's a difference between indoor and outdoor. A hot tub is a hot tub. So they agreed to give a refund. They said it was gonna be an automatic refund and that it would take three days. But my heater died this morning so I just had to call them again. It would have been nice if the refund went through at the same time that I made a new service call so there would have been a zero deduction. But that didn't happen so I had $100 authorization then I need to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully, that refund will come in.

My heater wouldn't stay warm. It would work then it wouldn't. I called American Home Shield and I had to stay on the line for 45 minutes before somebody answered the phone. It was a long time to be on hold and it was really frustrating. I mentioned it when the rep first came, but it didn't seem like she cared. It has happened before and I hung up, then I called back again. It has happened around 50% of the time. They should hire more operators.
American Home Shield told me that they would get in touch with me in a couple of days. They made the appointment for me to have the contractor call me. The tech came out and said that it was a wire, and he fixed it. He was professional. However, it still seems like I have a problem. The heater doesn't get hot and there are times when it seems like it cools down again. The equipment will make one loud noise and it's unusual. I'm not sure if I should call again and have them come back out. I was going to but they told me that I might get charged $75 again. I said that they were just out the previous week for the same thing. Otherwise, everything is fine and I'm glad that when I call, American Home Shield sends somebody out right away. So far, everybody has fixed things.

The contractor, Action Air Conditioning, was all right. The only problem I had with them is how long it's taking to get the problem resolved. They came out on December the 13th, and they came and took the motherboard a couple of days ago. With one refrigerator, he had to drill holes in the back and took it all out, but he couldn't guarantee that it was fixed after he did all of that work. I have yet to hear back from American Home Shield with what they're gonna do on that. Although the icemaker got resolved and they should be bringing that out on Wednesday to replace that.
I was in Afghanistan when I had to make the claim over the phone, and my son was taking care of it which I don't know where they got the number from. I called back and I had them to put in the correct number. Also, the plumbing portion has not yet been taken care of, and that's been since the 12th of December. I'm getting ready to go back to Afghanistan, and my stuff is not done. No one has ever called. I keep calling and leaving messages on the number that they gave me, and no one still has come out.
With the oven, AHS first told us they could not fix it, and they couldn't find the part. So I did without my oven for Christmas. And then they turned around and told me that it's going to take 13 to 17 days for them to fix the oven. They then offered me $200 for a KitchenAid double oven. But I don’t think so. It's ridiculous. I switched from AHS one time because of this situation. I never had any problems with them for a while so we switched back since I like them. I went to two other companies that I didn’t get the service that I got from AHS. But now, since I'm back, I'm like, "Wow. This is what I was getting from the other two services." And basically, I had my whole family go to AHS.
The people that came out in the past were very excellent, very prompt and they cared about how long it was taking and everything. Just getting the issue fixed and getting someone out to my house to do it in a timely manner is what's bothering me. And then when I call into AHS, I get the nastiness. I'm in customer service, and there's no way that somebody should be made to feel like it's my problem. It's not my problem because that's what I pay AHS for. I don’t have a problem paying them on time. They, when I have a problem, should not give me, "Well, you haven't really been with us this long." It doesn’t matter if I've been with them for 1 day or 10 years. I feel I should have the same service. I'm paying the same amount of money that anybody else pays.
Good evening Sherri,
I understand your concerns regarding the delay in service that you have experienced to have the double oven and air conditioner repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and get those issues resolved.

I put in a claim with American Home Shield when the toilets were not working. The claims rep that I spoke to was excellent and I had a great interaction with the contractor. The amount of hold time that a customer is expected to be on the phone with American Home Shield is way too excessive. If you’re having problems and you got a plumbing leak, you don’t need to be on hold for over an hour. You need to have somebody to call or call you back. Then, days pass before you hear a response from them. AHS also needs to have better follow-up after they send a tech out. I even asked them if their business model was to send someone out and charge $75. Then, they don't respond, so the homeowner takes care of it themselves out of frustration. They need to really work on customer service.
One time, I had a claim and since I'm not their typical client, I was able to give feedback directly to the part of the ownership structure myself. Obviously, they wanna know what’s going on and they responded to me when they understood I was having problems. They said that it was not the way they prefer things to be and they'd follow it up. So it was handled the way it was supposed to. And I had an audience for my very transparent and blunt version of my experience, as well as what I thought should happen for it to be improved. Things are better now. But it was disappointing that the incident had to escalate to the level that it did in order for their service to get better.

The thermostat on the refrigerator wasn't working correctly, so the refrigerator never shut off. I put in a claim online with American Home Shield and I prefer filing claims online 'cause I had a different contact with them that I called and then left me on hold for 20 or 30 minutes. The guy from Service One Appliance who was sent out was great. He had to come out twice, once to diagnose the problem and once to fix it, so the claim was completed in about two weeks. Nonetheless, the guy was on time and fixed the problem. He was also pleasant, thorough, and professional every time. The experience was fine.

There were a number of different issues that were resolved, but the biggest one was with the 26-year-old Sub-Zero refrigerator that I have. From the time the house was bought, the ice maker has never really worked at all. We bought the house in July of 2012, but I didn't really bother with the first call I put in with American Home Shield about the ice maker until 2013. I waited a few months. I finally got around to working on it in 2013 and it has been a constant battle of calling AHS, them sending out someone from a partner company that will diagnose it and ordering some parts. The techs would come in and fix a part of it, but it won't be quite done. They would come back but would go back and forth, and I would take days off of work. They would get it so that it would somehow be a little better, but then a few months or weeks later, it would die again and I would decide if I wanna keep messing with it or just leave it alone.
It had been going on for a long time and it got to this fall, around October, and I said, "Okay, that's it. I'll finally gonna get this thing, that I'll call it in." It was the first time that I got Express Appliance out and they were different from some of the companies we've had in the past. They came in and said, "Okay, it looks like this is what your issue is here. I will order your part." The next guy came and he put the part, but he said that it wasn't really what the issue was, there was something else.
Beginning with those subsequent rounds of ordering parts, installing, etc., we got to a place where the guy went to install the part, but it turned out that all the lines were dead. He had to order still more parts and did a shutdown. On December 31st, he came out and we finally got the ice maker to work for the first time in forever. However, in the process of making that work, the freezer then didn't go at all, so I was up at 2:00 in the morning on New Year's Day or the day after unloading my freezer. The issues still aren't resolved.
James pointed out and said that my compressor was looking pretty rough. It was a little rusty around the edges and he didn't know why. He couldn't order the part for it until it was dead. Express Appliance is a company that I trust. I like them. I like the people they've sent out, their back office staff, the manager, and the technician, especially James, the most recent technician that I had. They are competent and they are doing a good job. However, if there was more flexibility to allow the technician to say, "Look, I'm gonna order this part. It's not completely failed but it's near failure," it'd be happier from a customer experience level.
James could've ordered the part right while he was here and could've kept the work order open. The compressor died within hours of him leaving. I don't know if it was precipitated by the work that he did or if it was just coincidental, but the compressor was done. I had to again put another call in with AHS, do it as a recall order, and talk to them. Everyone was really professional and nice, although the policy department could allow flexibility.
I submit my claims with AHS online and the website navigation is great. It is easy and it works. The technicians or contractors that AHS had sent out really improved. In the past, it was a little touch and go, but in the past couple of years, I generally have been very pleased. Within a company, you can get a malfunctioning guy, but for the most part, the guys sent were good. I'm really happy with my experience with AHS, but there are some processes I have issues with that could be improved a bit.

My water heater went out on Monday and I was shut down from my water from the time that the accident was reported. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and it went really well. They gave me a number for a service provider, but they were on vacation or holiday and they were closed. There was an automated system though and they said they would get back to me within 24 hours. But I was completely flooded then, so I called ServiceMaster. My homeowners insurance sent me to them. There was somebody on duty at ServiceMaster, and they sent somebody over within 45 minutes.
American Home Shield, meanwhile, sent me to Callahan Plumbing, and Callahan Plumbing was automated too. But this is a small town and somebody had the cellphone number of Brian, the contractor, so I was able to get ahold of him that way. He was very nice and efficient, and he took care of the problem. He contacted American Home Shield about the approved new water heater. He came back and he was at my house too within 45 minutes of calling. After the service, I was good to go with the water heater and that was up and running. I was a member of American Home Shield when I first bought my home. I also get updates from the contractor company. It's good communication.
In the past, I tried to request for multiple services, such as when I had an appliance that wasn't working and there was a plumbing issue as well. But because the issues were different, I needed to make two different reservations. I found that to be a little challenging to do online, so I eventually had to call in. At one point, I tried requesting for a specific vendor for this area, one I had worked previously with, but I was told that assigning vendors is done at random so they couldn't do that for me. If you have a good experience with a company and you want to use them again, you should be allowed to. Still, I've recommended American Home Shield several times.

We’ve had a lot of good experiences with American Home Shield. When we bought the house in 1990, the people who owned the house before us gave us a three-year subscription to American Home Shield and these guys were very helpful. That was way back then we decided to get American Home Shield again. About a month before we signed up, our microwave went out and then the oven went out. The stove and the microwave were one unit. Back in the ‘80s, that was how they did it. We got the stove and microwave through American Home Shield and now they’re separated. We had to have an electrician come in and run the line because now, there are separate lines. But it worked out really well and we’re very pleased with the microwave and the oven.
We've sold the house now but when the inspector came in before that, it was found out that the air conditioning wasn’t working. If I didn’t fix it, they were gonna take money out of our portion of the sale. We hadn’t used the air conditioning in about three months because the temperatures had been dropping. So I tried to turn the it on and I couldn’t do it either. We called American Home Shield to see what was going wrong. When the guy came in, he put a wire on our air conditioner and the activator but nothing happened. So he took the thermostat off the wall and put another one on. Then he checked it and the air worked. So it was only that and now, everything is working fine.
The guy who came for the AC before that claim thought the problem was the batteries in the thermostat and at that the time, the heat was not coming on. It was cold air coming out. We changed the batteries in the thermostat and the heat came on. So both issues were because of the thermostat. We also had a refrigerator claim one time. It was a side by side refrigerator and the light was out in the freezer part. The technician said he would have to rip out all of the insulation to get to it which would cost more than a new refrigerator. So we decided to say goodbye to the refrigerator. Overall, we’ve always had a good experience.

Company only LOVES to collect money. Website shows picture of a lady, Consumer thinks is ready to chat online since no one answers the phone - but NO, this is fake. No way you can chat. :( Company is ONLY interested to get the contract paid first, Then pay for service in advance before anyone can answer any concern of the client. I have mentioned my review on Trustpilot. Check it out. We should have got First American instead. First time I called paid $75 and instead of fixing, wanted more money to repair for electrical issue. This company don't stand behind its contract, JUST COLLECT MONEY. :(:(:(

We called on 12/22 to ask for a heater repair person to come fix our wall heater that won't turn on. They gave us a contractor in Gilroy which I called immediately and they never returned my call. Most likely because we are located in Aptos which is 1 1/2 hours away. I called on 12/23 to American Home Shield and they gave me another contractor in Pacific Grove, the contractor said that they wouldn't be able to come out for a week because I was an hour away. I called on 12/24 to American Home Shield and they said they would have the Pacific Grove Contractor call between 8-10am and service between 10-12pm on 12/26. When no one called on 12/26, I called the contractor and they had no record of coming out. It is now 12/27, 6 days without heat. American Home Shield told me to get my own contractor and pay them and then try to get reimbursed. The American Home Shield employee hung up on me.

We were having a leak in our basement ceiling. There was a spot where you can see the bathtub and about a foot away from it, there was water leaking from one of the ceiling boards. I went online to submit a claim to American Home Shield and it was a super quick process. They said that somebody would be contacting me in 24-48 hours. I received an email that somebody will be contacting me so I did not expect anybody to call me and they did, and they set up a date within four or five days.
A gentleman came out. He was the same guy who came out here before and fixed the drain. He was very nice and very knowledgeable. He fixed the leak right up and showed me the problem. There was a crack in some caulking. He did some caulking around the faucet area and then showed me some other places that I needed to put down some silicone caulking. I'd highly recommend American Home Shield. I've owned my house for six months now, had the same person come out twice, and it was a great experience.

American Home Shield says what they are gonna do and I'm satisfied with the service. When I have a claim, I call them then a guy from a company comes and fixes the problem. I just don't like the monthly fee payments but that's what it costs. If you want the service, you have to pay for it. I keep using them and it's usually the stove that I've had issues with. But I've heard people who have had air conditioning that had some problems and that's the only reason I'm keeping American Home Shield, in case my air conditioning goes. My most recent claim was for a microwave repair and it took about two days for the contractor to come out. He was knowledgeable and good. He fixed the issue and when it had a problem again, he came out. He had to order another part and it took about a week for him to come back out. The problem was a microwave and it wasn't a big deal to me.

I tried to run the dryer and the wires were loose in one of the panels in the back. So, I didn’t feel comfortable. It looked like a fire hazard and like it had been melted almost. Then, the buttons on the microwave kept sticking. In the middle of the night, the microwave would start making noises because the buttons were sticking. I tried everything and even if I unplugged it, it wouldn’t stop. I submitted two claims online with AHS and my experience was great. They sent out JTL Services to work on both issues and the tech, Wesley, came out. He replaced the panel on the dryer and I was glad to see him come out for the second time for the microwave. He was awesome and JTL was a really good company. I’ve never had a home warranty before and AHS has been awesome.

A guy from Plumbing Plus came and he was exceptional. He was here on time and he was very courteous. The air conditioning unit would not come on on the outside and it was just humming in the inside. Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was very easy. I did it online and it was just 1-2-3 click! I submitted the claim around 10 am and about 11 o’clock, I received a call. It was very quick. It used to be a 48-hour turnaround, but AHS has improved tremendously. The tech was very awesome and very knowledgeable about his job. I thought it was the compressor, but it wasn’t. It was the capacitor. He was able to diagnose every step of the system to make sure that I don’t see him again, which was also awesome. He did everything very carefully as if he knew what he was doing. He is certified and I appreciate the service that he rendered. I turned the unit on and it blew fine, although I need to call him back out to do something with the duct because it was blowing softly. The ducts need to be cleaned.
I’ve been an American Home Shield customer since 2007 and there has definitely been an improvement within the company as well as customer service, and how they choose their vendors to come out. Normally, in the past, they would send anybody. I would get people that weren’t trained and weren’t certified, but the way they do their contractors now is much better service. People come out and they identify themselves, and they have their credentials with them. Everything is a better experience than before. I'm very pleased with what AHS has done for me over the years. Even when it was not good, they still have always been there.

It was strange.
I was given a timeframe of about a day or two on when to expect a contractor out. The timeframe given to me was met and the interaction I had with the contractor was great. He was very knowledgeable and he told me what he needed to do to make the repair. I had a house full of company at Christmas and they couldn’t take their showers because I had no hot water. My hot water tank wasn’t working so I went online onto my account and reported that I had a problem. They immediately sent me the contractor’s name and number, and said that I’d be contacted within 24 hours. That was on Christmas morning that I reported that and the next day, at about 10 o’clock, I was contacted by the contractor and I was told that they’d be out within a couple hours and he was. I love American Home Shield. We’ve had them for years. We even got my dad to have an account. We’ve managed two houses, utilizing American Home Shield for the last 20 years. I had one really negative experience when I was dealing with my dad’s house though. There was a new dishwasher that was not connected properly, which then caused tons of water to be leaked under a wooden floor. American Home Shield told us that we just needed to talk to the people that came out but the people that came out would not respond. They didn’t want it to go to their insurance. They wouldn’t do anything about it.
I told American Home Shield that we only used that contractor because AHS had a relationship with them and that AHS has to force them into doing something. But AHS told us that they couldn’t do it. The whole reason we used AHS is because we were utilizing, supposedly, contractors that were vetted by AHS and that AHS had some relationship with the contractors that would help make sure these things don’t happen. It was a whole ugly deal and it finally worked itself out but not without me throwing a fit.
Also when we had something wrong with our pool, they told us that they didn’t know if we’ve been maintaining it. That was the standard line. Luckily, we have a really good pool guy who is an expert. I put him on the line with AHS and after they got done talking with him, they told me that they would cover it. If we weren’t tenacious, there could be some hiccups, but we knew too much. Everything worked out. Overall, AHS is a good service. I like the convenience and I would recommend it.

They only made me pay once because it was one service call on all three items.
The guy from Second Opinion Plumbing Service came out. He noticed that the motor froze on the dishwasher and needed a new line. Once he replaced the motor, we ran the hose for the thing when one leaves the dishwasher under the sink and that seemed to be corrected. With the refrigerator, he cleaned it out. He said that our equipment was in great shape, that what happened to it is normal, that the refrigerator is gonna leak in the back. That’s just the way it is and there’s no way around it so he said that wasn’t fixed. We’re waiting for the motor part to come back for the dishwasher. The guy was very professional and he has to come back again to look at the part. We had American Home Shield at our previous residence but we cancelled the policy because the house was sold right at the end of the year. So, when we moved to our new house in a different state, we also went with American Home Shield because we have had a very positive experience with them. The only time that American Home Shield did not replace or repair in a short time frame was when our freezer went out. It was probably my misunderstanding of the way the policy worked. It is a standalone freezer and I did not realize that it was not covered.
Submitting the claims both online and via phone worked well. I normally do it online because it is a lot quicker and the phone is a bit longer because I gotta wait for someone. When we had an ice maker issue, I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. A contractor from Sears got here and repaired the initial problem of the ice maker not making ice. The technician was extremely knowledgeable of the product. He found the problem in a short period of time. He diagnosed the problem and a mechanism had to be replaced for it to make ice and he had the part on his truck. He repaired the problem within 30 minutes or less.
After the part was replaced, there was a secondary problem where the part that allows the ice to feed out to drop into a cup on the outside of the refrigerator was not working. He did not have the part on his truck so he had to order it. He had to wait a week or two for the parts to be shipped to us and as soon as the parts showed up, we notified him. Then, he scheduled to come back out and he was also here for a short period of time.

I had a problem with my hot water heater. The thermostat needed to be replaced, so I called American Home Shield. Someone came out three days later and took care of the problem quickly. It was all automated and all online when I submitted the claim, so I didn't talk to anyone. AHS walks you through it and see what you need help with. And then, they give you a confirmation number. They send you a text and an email and tell you who the contractor is gonna be and that they'll be in touch with you within a day to schedule your time.
The contractor came early in the morning. I told him the problem I've been having with the heater and I assumed it was the thermostat, but I left it to them. They determined that it was the thermostat, but I felt it needed to be replaced along with the element. They did their thing and then when they were finished, I signed off on the paperwork. They were in my home less than an hour. Prior the repair, I couldn't control the hot water. It was scalding one day and then cold a couple of days later. Now I have constant hot water, and I don't have to worry about constantly adjusting it. Everything went well with this experience but if it was something that I needed help with right away, I don't have an option to tell AHS that in the automated line. Usually, I try to call back and talk to an operator but it can take an hour to get ahold of someone to actually talk to. I've had some pretty bad experiences in the past but this one was good because it wasn't an emergency.

AHS was extremely unresponsive to look into the matter, taking me several calls and long wait times to get a hold of someone. They then transferred me back and forth with different departments and never solved the issue. I tried speaking to their contractor about it and they turned out even less responsive than AHS. In a few words, if the contractor they send tries to overcharge you, you better pay what they say or expect to spend hours on the phone to try to get someone to fix the issue. I called Ace Appliance as soon as the order was requested and got their voicemail. No one from Ace Appliance called back on Dec. 24. So, I called AHS on Dec. 26 and was put on hold for 33 minutes. The customer service representative who answered the call stated the profile for Ace Appliance indicated that they did not work on Holidays, however, Dec. 26 was not a holiday and as of 12:06 pm that day, I hadn't heard from them.
In the meantime, I read the reviews for Ace Appliance and they were by far all negative in terms of their technicians and timeliness to requests. So, when I called AHS on Dec. 26, I requested another more reputable technician to do the work. The customer service representative went about setting this up and requested that I pay for the upcoming service call upfront. When I requested paying for the service call after the technician came, the AHS customer service representative Justine, hung up and didn't call back.
I am extremely upset and disappointed with AHS because their customer representatives are poorly trained as are the substandard companies/technicians that they recommend to provide for the services in your home. I then went online to request service rather than talk to a inept customer service representative and the soonest service for the refrigerator repair is January 4. Consequently, I will have to throw out all the food in my refrigerator for nearly two weeks from my initial call. This is outrageous. For the cost of the policy, l expect much better customer service, better repair response and quality technicians. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I’ve had AHS for a few years now and I’m normally very pleased with the service. However this time was not a pleasant experience. I did an online request for service on Sunday 12/22 roughly about 10:30 am. I was called by the assigned contractor (Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning) within the hour, at that time the contractor informed me that unless I pay an additional cost of $50 I wouldn’t be serviced until Wednesday because AHS doesn’t cover weekend calls or holiday calls.
It’s winter and it’s freezing in my home so I agreed and immediately called AHS back to verify if that was true. I was told by the rep that they would pick up the fee because the temps will drop low on Monday evening so that will allow them to expedite the service to get a tech out today. Hospitality’s rep let me know a tech would arrive today as well. The tech finally arrived at 4:30-45ish and quirky diagnosed the problem. He checked his truck for the part and said he didn’t have the correct part but would be sure to come back out with it tomorrow (Monday 12/24) after several calls in to AHS, Hospitality Heating and the techs direct line. The tech never came back.
My final call into AHS at 6:25pm a rep told me that she spoke with Hospitality’s answering service and the office was now closed until after the holiday on Wednesday. She also advised me that I could purchase portable heaters and I could be reimbursed, but by this time all stores are closed and that wouldn’t be possible. I’m highly disappointed in the service I received from this assigned contractor. This company left me and my family cold for 3 days without any contact even after several attempts on my end. If only Hospitality Heating’s reps would have reached back out to me and simply let me know what was happening. It’s the holiday weekend so that in itself left me with little to no options.

My washer broke down in November and I was very dissatisfied with the length of time it took for the vendor to repair. They scheduled me super late. The technician had to come back in two weeks to get the part and when he got there, he was lickety-split, quick in getting the work done, and the washing machine duct works well now.
American Home Shield itself has been very responsive and quick in terms of when I have a need, but I'm just concerned with the vendors that they are using. I called American Home Shield on the last week of December for the dryer. I went out of town and my mom was there when the technician came and repaired it. He did it in one day. The tech cleaned the hose and moved it out from the wall and said that was why it was not drying. But my mom told me that the dyer was still not drying, so I placed the service call when I got back. I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor that was assigned to me on how they can come back and repair it. I've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years and this was the first time that I had any issue with their vendor. The next time I have a service call and I experience something like my recent experience, I will need to find out what is different and what is happening that I'm not getting good service from the vendors.
Good morning Sharon,
I would thank to thank you for the feedback regarding your experience with American Home Shield and the dryer repairs that were completed.

I’ve had American Home Shield for years, five at the minimum, and they’ve come out every single time. I’ve never had an issue with any of the claims. Whatever’s been disclosed changes from year to year but it’s been good. I had an issue with the ice maker within the refrigerator and the benefit was previously covered but it’s not covered any longer. So I just paid the deductible and when Ayers Appliance came out, they diagnosed the problem and that was it. They came out pretty quickly too. I submitted the claim online then the person called me the next day and Ayers came out the following day. So it was like two days of that then they came out to solve the issue.

I had one plumbing claim and one appliance claim with American Home Shield and submitting the claims online was incredibly easy. It usually takes about a week for AHS to get somebody out here once I submit a claim. Once the contractors get here, they're fine. They do what they're asked to do but a lot of times, they don’t exhibit the same sense of urgency that I do. Other than that, I’ve been with AHS for several years and they’ve always done right by me. I’d recommend them.

I filed a claim online for our refrigerator's door that wasn't closing. The American Home Shield website is easy to navigate through and it's intuitive. All City Appliance Repair was supposed to be out 9:00 to 12:00 and they met the timeframe. I had a very good interaction with the contractor and he knew what he was fixing. He fixed the top hinge of the door. That is important. The request for service through the website and the contractor's quality have been very good too. Having the AHS warranty has been very valuable and I would recommend it.

We had an internal backup in the system at home and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The person listened to what I was saying and then she worked for a proper solution. However, the first person who was contacted to come out wasn’t able to come immediately. He would have to come in a couple of days at least. That’s when I called and they found somebody else that was able to come the same day. After the repair, everything has been going well. Now, we’re working with our State Farm insurance because there are repairs that need to be done. Still, American Home Shield did a good job and they helped me to get somebody to come quicker and faster to solve our internal problem here at home. I will recommend American Home Shield to others.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for my furnace but it is still on process. I did it online the first time and then I called and spoke to them whenever I had to do a recall because I wasn’t sure. I didn’t feel like I needed to pay another fee but they told me that there won’t be a fee since it was a recall. And then they told me how to do it online.
So far, we've had the same contractor. The first time, the contractor told me what the problem was and they replaced the part. And then every time after that, they haven’t really helped. The furnace would kick on and then every so often, it would stop. We were supposed to go in and unplug our furnace, and plug it back in. And then Saturday morning, we tried to do that at two o’clock in the morning and it would not come back on. The issue has been going on for a couple of weeks now. In fact, this will be the fifth time they would come out and I’m just waiting for the contractor to call me to tell me that they’re on their way. It’s not so much with American Home Shield that I’m dissatisfied with. It’s more with who they pick.

Our water heater wasn’t working and it was easy to submit a claim for it over the phone with American Home Shield. I tried to do it online and it wouldn’t go through. It wouldn’t accept any of the information I was trying to put in. The service wasn’t good, because unfortunately, when I called, it was on a Saturday evening. So I didn’t get any callbacks until Monday. And then, when they called me, they said they couldn’t come out until Thursday. I told them my water heater was not working and my roommate was having a fit. I needed it done faster, and I was told that they were within the timeframe allowed. So I said, “Well, I understand that, but all I’m asking, would you please give me somebody else?”
Finally, the rep sent somebody else and that person came within about 45 minutes. He was very nice, and he explained to me what he thought was happening. He reset the button on it and then put a new heating element in it. And now, it’s not working again. So I’ve been calling them for two days to get them to come back out again. I called yesterday, and there was no return call. And then, I just got off the phone about three minutes ago, and left them another message that I haven’t heard back from them. I didn’t expect them to come out right away. I just want them to return my call, and let me know when I might expect them.

He said that some of the heating strips were not plugged in and he supposed that was because there wasn’t sufficient amperage. So right now, we’re gonna try to boost up the amperage from a 30 to a 50 so that they all can be plugged in. At this point, we have an electrician involved in this who is looking at the breaker box and gonna try to do some wiring up there. It was a very hot weekend and we had to wait for four days because the man came early in the morning on Friday, and I didn’t get the part.
I had to call and argue with the contractor to come out and make sure it was done by Monday because they were actually wanting me to wait until Wednesday to get it done. I didn’t understand what the hold-up was. It was a simple part. It was a motor and it failed. And it was a matter of getting it approved. They had to wait for AHS to give them an okay in order to do it. It could have been a lot easier. I even tried to do it online and it doesn’t have any way to communicate. The only way they have online is that you can file your claim and get a claim number. But there’s no e-mail correspondence back and forth through that site in order for you to talk to somebody. So the contractor AHS sent replaced both of them. It took a while to get the materials in but we got it done. I have nothing but compliment for the contractors. They were all courteous and patient. They had to work in the attic exclusively, so it was quite a chore for them. They had to disassemble one of the hot water heaters in the attic in order to get it out. I bought a used mobile home and the company bought a policy from American Home Shield to safeguard if something happens. However, everything was not checked in the house so I had to use AHS. I have had guys come over on all kinds of stuff that I don't have to worry about. I had guys fix the washing machine as the hose was all clogged up with sand. The technicians took the hose out but they did not check the water temperature. The washing machine is used and if I put it on hot water, it runs hot for a couple of minutes, then the water goes to lukewarm so I told Rick. I checked it a few more times but he scheduled to come out one more time. Rick was a nice service guy. He and another fellow did a good job. They were on time and called before they came.
Whenever I submit a claim to American Home Shield, my experience has been very nice but it takes a little while to get to the right person. That aside, everything is fine with the washing machine and I am very happy with it. American Home Shield is a good company and I'm glad I got the policy. I did everything in our power to find out why the hot water heater wasn't working, including replacing it. It turned out there was a blown fuse in the electric line. I called AHS. I used the automated system and it works good. The first contractor that came out, Half Price Plumbing, wasn't very good and could not solve the issue. The tech didn't appear to be adept to what he was doing. I contacted AHS and I said, "I don't like this guy. I'd rather have another plumber." And they said, "Okay, we can't change contractors. We can go ahead and cash you out on this claim." I said, "Okay. Please, do that," and they did.
And then, I contacted Aments Plumbing on my own. The tech came out, replaced the hot water tank, which I had to purchase but it still didn't solve the problem so I called the tech out again. He went through the steps of checking the electrical system. He said, "You're not getting enough voltage to the hot water. Somewhere between the power box, the panel box and the hot water heater, there's a problem. You're only getting 110 when you need 220. You need an electrician."
I contacted AHS once again using the automated system and they sent out Jim Conrad Electrical. 16 days have passed with no hot water. Jim Conrad came out that day, just before holiday weekend. The tech started doing the testing and we went up in the attic, then he found the problem within 30 minutes and solved it. Just like that. I'm happy with everybody involved, except for the first responding plumber. I love AHS and Jim Conrad. I recommend AHS to everybody. My son now has them. Everybody I know, if they own a home, I say they got to have AHS. They're always good, always responsive and we have no problems at all with them.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, and even though I hate doing anything on the computer, I was able to accomplish the submission online, which means their site is user friendly.
Once I got the name of the company that was handling the claim, I called them. I knew I probably wouldn't see anybody for several days, but I tried to see if I could get anyone sooner because of the holidays, and I couldn't. At least I got a morning appointment on the Thursday after Christmas. We had an HVAC issue where our fan was blowing fast and was making a lot of noise on the outside unit. It went to a point where we had neighbors complaining. Hunter, the tech, called me and said he’ll be at the property in 20 minutes. I wasn’t at the property when he came, but my father was, so somebody could be there for him. But Hunter called me, walked me through everything and told me what was going on. He told me that somebody from the past warranty claim we had put on it had installed the wrong motor, and it was spinning too fast. Over time, it was just gonna wear down.
Hunter told me he was gonna go get the motor from the shop. He went to the shop, got the motor, and he even told me he was gonna inspect the blade to make sure the blade was still good. After spinning so fast for so long, the motor might’ve become warped or the blade itself might just be dulled, so it might not be working to its full capacity. He checked everything out and he was able to take care of everything in one day. We haven't had a problem since. In the past, the old company American Home Shield used for anything related to HVAC was based out of a town, and was about 45 to 55 minutes away. So usually, it took about a couple of days for them to even get to us. Whereas this time around, the contractor called me the next day and scheduled it the next day. It was pleasant this time. I called them when the whole east side of this one level condominium unit was without power. I thought it was a simple thing but it went on for a week and two days, and the electrician who I had here prior to AHS’ contractor couldn't find the issue.
AHS sent Ideal Electric out and they were here for three hours on the first day then nearly eight hours on the second day before the tech found it. The guy had to take every plug out of the wall to try to find where the wire was broken. Of course, the last plug was where he found it. And then he got my power back on. Everything’s working perfectly now. He was a miracle man. He was also prompt, thorough and clean - he picked up after himself. I told him I was gonna tell everybody how good they were. Also, the man who runs the shop, the one who calls customers, was very nice. He followed up with a phone call and he sent messages, like when my guy was on the way. It was really silver service.
I have one complaint though. One time, when I tried to get help from AHS, I decided to do it on a computer. Somehow, another warranty company had picked up my name and they called and sent me emails. I told them to take my name off the list. So, needless to say, I will never use the computer to order a service call because that's how they picked it up. Nevertheless, I know that AHS works.

I've never really had to use my home warranty before. I was home last week on a staycation and I wanted to get things fixed that I haven’t had time to call in. We were having issues where the water wasn’t stopping in the toilet. Anytime Home Services came and replaced the innards. However, I’m still in the process of working with that claim with the company because when they left, the toilet started leaking and that hasn't happened before, and it went to the floor. But they’re doing a really good job so far on handling that. They stopped the leak, and I just have to follow up on some mistakes. I need the e-mail address to send the pictures of the damage to ‘cause this all happened over the holiday weekend. They were out within about 12 hours to do it on a Saturday. I have to call them today to see where we’re at as I haven’t heard from them. As of my last conversation with them on Saturday, it was going well.
The only thing that I was disappointed in was I had two plumbing scenarios, and I had to do two different claims to American Home Shield and pay two different fees for the same day. It wouldn’t let me do two different plumbing-related issues on one claim. The first one that came out was for my Whirlpool tub and they didn’t even need to do anything. It was actually just similar ones and if somebody had just been able to educate me that was what it was supposed to do, I wouldn’t have had to pay the 75 bucks. It was just the guy telling me that it works. But American Home Shield's coverage has been okay so far.

I was heating up some stuff in the microwave when it completely went out. It was a microhood and it vented outside. I filed a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and I got through somebody in less than five minutes. I told them what happened and they were really great. The rep was good and she helped me through the process. She said she would get in touch with Sure Tech as soon as possible and have someone out here. The following morning, somebody was here and within two days, the problem was resolved.
The technician that was sent out here was great. He knew what he was doing and he was very up-to-date on the microwave. He checked out the unit and said the magnetron was the problem. Then he went back to the office and checked to see how much the part was gonna cost and his labor. He called me back and said it was gonna cost too much to fix it, but he was gonna do the paperwork and send it to American Home Shield. He said that if I don't hear from him in three days, I should call him. I waited until the following Monday and I called and told them what had happened and what the guy told me.
American Home Shield, however, said that he hadn't sent the paperwork in yet. So the rep called him and talked to him, and he told her the same thing that he told me. He said that it was gonna cost more to fix the unit than to buy a new one. I told her I was gonna buy one, and then I’d keep the receipt and they could reimburse me. She told me to go ahead and do that, and I would be getting a letter from them telling me how much they would reimburse me and to just send in the receipt. So that afternoon, I bought a microwave and put it in, and everything was fine.
I dealt with American Home Shield in the past, and my water heater went out one time. However, it was gonna be almost two weeks before they could get a technician out here to look at it. They said that was the best they could do but I couldn't wait. The water was awful in my bathroom and I had my dad living with me that time. He was a 94-year old World War II vet and I had no hot water and I tried to explain that to him. Although it was like it wasn’t a big deal to American Home Shield, but to me, it was. So I just cancelled my request for service, went to Lowe’s, picked up a water heater and installed it myself. I’ve been using American Home Shield for over 20 years now and that issue with the water heater was the only negative thing that I had with them. Other than that issue, they’ve been really good.

The contractors who came out for the plumbing fixed the stoppage from a plumbing standpoint. They were good. They were on time, did the job and they carried themselves professionally. They resolved the issue in one visit. Also, AHS’ website when I submitted that plumbing claim was easy to use. That was what I needed. It was a good experience with AHS, so I was happy. We had our dishwasher and our stove repaired through AHS under the same time, and they are both working now very well. The claims process was very easy. I send the information via mobile and I get response probably within several hours. The contractor came and reviewed the stove. It needed a part. They came back with the part within 2 days and replaced it. That worked very well. When he looked at the dishwasher, he said it needed a plumber so a plumber was sent out and the plumber made the repair.
He found something that was done incorrectly, probably when the house was originally built, and he corrected it. Everything has been working fine since. Also during the summer time, we had our AC replaced under Home Shield and it went very, very well. But it developed a vibration, and I'm probably gonna call and have them come back out. Nevertheless, everybody that AHS sent have done their job. AHS overall has been very professional and very efficient.

It takes 20 minutes to sit there and get through on the phone with AHS. I know they’re a big company but when I have to sit there 20 minutes just to talk to a rep because I don’t always have internet, then there’s a problem. There have also been other times I have submitted claims and American Home Shield did not end up covering the problem. I had a claim for the air conditioner as the blower motor went out. One contractor wanted to replace the whole AC upstairs. It would cost $1,900 and I said the whole thing doesn’t need to be replaced because I’m not one to just spend money uselessly no matter whose money it is.
AHS sent somebody else out and I had to pay an extra $125 for that because each time that they send somebody out and if it’s the same issue, it’s $125 out of my pocket. I’m retired and I don’t have that kind of money all the time to do the repair the way it should be. The second contractor that came out were very nice people. The rep says, “You’re right. It is the blower motor.” I ended up for $700 getting the problem fixed, but it came out of my pocket not American Home Shield. And to me, they should’ve covered it. I’m not the one that put the AC unit in there.
They’re saying that my return air is the wrong size. I’m not an AC person but when somebody comes out to replace an AC, then it should be done properly. If it wasn’t, it should not be on me. Telling me that the return air is wrong and the thing has worked great for 20 years, no, I’m sorry, I’m not that stupid. I’ve had to pay so much out of my pocket and I'm paying every month. Why are they not covering what they are supposed to? I ended up having to pay out of my pocket and I’m seriously still debating filing a legal claim on it.
Other than that, I had a claim wherein I didn’t have any water in my house. AHS sent out 77 Water and they were awesome. They were tied up on their job and their rep told me ahead of time. I had another call to make and I said, “Just give me an hour’s lead time so I know and I'll make sure I’m there.” She let me know and she said that this job took longer and they were gonna go get some lunch. They told me they would be at my house at roughly between 4:00 and 5:00. They were there at about 4:45, which was perfect. I have never had any company stay in touch with me as well as they did.
Good morning Sheila,
Your feedback is greatly appreciated to help us improve the level of customer service that you have experienced. I understand your concerns regarding the air conditioner repairs that have been completed and the noncovered cost. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

I called American Home Shield to put in the claim and I wanted to make sure they knew that this was the fourth circulator I would be getting. I waited almost an hour on hold, but I needed to talk to somebody to get that across and it was fine. But AHS could institute a callback system, which would be good. Other than that, the contractor was fine. I have our two refrigerators in there right next to the water heater, so he really had to work to get it in and soldered in properly. He did a very good job and made an effort to get it in, so I was happy.
I had a circulator vent I had replaced and it was on the water heater. It circulates during the busy hours so that I don't have to run water. The contractor replaced it and then he upgraded me, which was really good because, after the second one, I thought I needed a different model. This guy came with a bigger model, and I think it's gonna work longer and be much better. He also checked the toilets for me while he was here. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience with AHS.

The guy came out during the weekend and there was no extra charge for that. He said that he works every day. He was very knowledgeable, on time, and sent text to let me know he was on his way. While he was here, he was letting me know what was going on and what he was trying to find. He knew what he was talking about. He replaced some pipes and when he got through that, he thought that was what it was. It actually wound up being up in the spigot and he couldn’t get to it so he had to put a new faucet spigot in. The best contractor and reaction I've had in a long time.
I've not always had great experiences with American Home Shield. It's hit-and-miss sometimes. I made two claims with American Home Shield - one for the washer and another for the dishwasher. I called in and waited for 45 minutes. It was a really long wait and it's ridiculous. If I submit a claim online, it’s handled, but if I call in, it takes forever to get somebody. Many times I’ve waited for 45 minutes, somebody connected to me and then got disconnected, so I had to wait another half hour to get back on. Nevertheless, AHS is gonna replace the washer but they haven’t called me yet about it and it has been a week and a half. For the dishwasher, I got two different opinions for it, and they’re not gonna listen to the second opinion. The first opinion on the dishwasher, they said it was a computer board on my dishwasher. They replaced that and the motor as well, but it didn’t work.
Thereafter, a second guy came out. The computer board started to work, but they needed to replace it because it was faulty. He also said that the motor went out because of an air gap. But the motor never went out. The guy replaced it without even knowing if the motor went out. AHS denied the claim. They won’t give me a new computer board because they said the air gap caused the motor to go out, but that wasn’t the issue. How does the air gap cause the computer board to go out? I have to go and fight with AHS over it or just fix the air gap and then they’ll cover it. The contractors AHS sent out have been really good, except the second guy who just looked and said what the problem was.

I told her I called AHS and told them exactly what it was, and they said it's covered. She went out and sat in her truck for 35 minutes, came back in and said, "Yeah, it has to be from your hot water heater because you flushed the hot water heater." First off, it was not hooked up to my hot water system. Second, I have a filter in the way for that not to be even possible and the water was running freely.
She didn’t even know how to turn the hot water on. While she's pushing the button and says, "Look, there's no hot water coming out. It's plugged up." I said, "Look. There's a arrow pointing to the left. It's a safety feature. Push the arrow to the left and push it down."I was not pleased with that company. I don’t want to see this company in my house again. She didn’t fix anything and I paid $100 for nothing.
I'm waiting on a second opinion from AHS. They're supposed to be sending another company out. They did try to send the same company back out and I called them yesterday and said, "What's wrong with you guys? Why are you gonna send the same company?" One thing I don’t understand is when a company doesn’t do their job and American Home Shield just goes with that. They didn’t call and ask me any feedback on it. Updated on 12/23/2018: In addition to waiting for service only to be told once he arrived that it wasn't covered and just left, (electrically powered smoke detectors), we were billed for it! Had to call in to ask for bill to be removed since there is nowhere online to email anyone at AHS, and customer service takes forever to answer and doesn't know anything either! Phone calls tell you to contact online, you contact online and then find out it's not covered when and if they show.
We have had electrically powered smoke detectors to quit and cannot communicate with each other, an outside flood light quit that isn't covered under warranty since it is 'technically' not on part of roof that is over the foundation (it is located on corner of porch roof), have two GFI outlets located outside but not on house wall, not covered, lanai fan and lanai wall light out and not covered, and the list has more... NOT COVERED. CONNECT A PHONE LINE THAT IS ANSWERED IN A TIMELY MANNER AND WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE EMPLOYEES.
Original Review: We have had so many issues that seem to fall through the cracks with this home warranty. We have complained about the electrical provider they use since they are 3 hrs away and only come to our town twice weekly so the appointments are always backed up. Truck broke down so they rescheduled. AHS wants you to schedule online, but in doing so the service contractor shows up only to tell me he cannot fix my problem because it isn't covered. When on AHS site, the feedback connection is a vicious cycle and you cannot find an email address either to contact them. Phone help is not helpful at all. WE WILL NEVER USE THIS HOME WARRANTY COMPANY AGAIN.

Last year I had a very challenging experience with the whole entire process. I had a plumbing issue around the 20th of December, and with the holidays and everything like that, it didn't really get resolved until about four weeks later. Nevertheless, AHS is pretty good. All home warranty companies have their pros and cons. One of the main thing was that it was Christmas time and their services can be hard to get.
With the recent claim with the drainage the contractor that came out was very knowledgeable about it. He didn't try to upsell me anything. He came, looked at the problem and told me what root cause was and so forth. And that was it. I paid the $75 that I had to pay, The repair is going good. He also stayed to make sure that everything worked perfectly. The other claim was for my garage door. A repair company came and they fixed the springs on it. Go ahead and get a warranty from American Home Shield.

We had two problems with our refrigerator. The first was with the ice maker and the second was for the fan motor. We then filed a claim to AHS. Because of Thanksgiving, it took AHS three weeks to get a contractor out. Still, the guy who came was very nice. He said he put it in as an ice maker because it cracked where the ice holds. The next time, he came with just the motor and when I asked what about the ice maker, he said that what we had was a dispenser which is not covered by insurance. We then told him that it's not a dispenser and it's an ice maker.
So, we called AHS again and they said that the ice maker was covered. We then made another appointment for them to come. However, at that time, I had to be at work because I had no employee working. I then told the contractor that I would reschedule. My husband left a message to reschedule for them to come. Still, I don't understand why they had to come again because they knew that the ice maker needed to be replaced.
Since the repair though, things have been running smoothly. I don’t hear the loud motor noise anymore. It’s just the ice maker that I didn’t change, so we’re not using that. We have two icemakers, one from the top and one from the bottom. So, we’re only using the bottom one because the icemaker is cracked and we didn’t wanna make it worse. Overall, AHS's warranty has been good. I'd recommend my neighbors to use it because they'll never know when their home appliance will go out of hand and they might end up paying a lot of money if they don't get covered.
Good morning, Hannah. Thank you for your positive feedback. Please keep in mind of your recall period in order to request another service visit if the issue isn't resolved the first time out.

We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. When we had an issue with the dishwasher right before Christmas, I filed a claim to them online and had a great experience in doing it. It is easier to do it online and they automatically set it up for me. I don't have to talk to a person and answer a million questions. I just submitted the claim, and somebody called me by the morning. Gimino’s Appliance Repair came out on a Sunday, which I was shocked and very appreciative of. Their technician did it because of the holidays. The parts were ordered then another guy came to replace it a couple days later. They did very well. I’ve had other service people that were terrible, and these guys were very good, so I would recommend them.

The microwave wasn’t working. I filed a claim for it with American Home Shield over the phone. Then, I was given a timeframe of when to expect a phone call from the service company. They would have been here within three days but with our schedule, it took about a week and a half to get it all put together. Even so, they were very prompt though and I had great interactions with the contractor who came. He introduced himself and he was very professional. He asked what he was working on and I showed him. I told him what the symptoms were and he got right to work and took care of it. I was happy that he had the parts on his truck and was able to fix the oven in one trip. Since the repair, everything has been functioning perfectly. We’re very satisfied with this warranty.

Whenever I have a claim, I always call American Home Shield and they call a service person to come out. The service person calls and identifies themselves and says they will be out to fix the problem. I’ve had very good rapport with American Home Shield. I called them about the toilet in our half bath that wouldn’t flush and it was real slow. Someone from Sieb Plumbing, Heating & AC came out and checked it. He was very knowledgeable and polite, and he went out to his truck and made a couple phone calls with AHS after he made his diagnosis, and then came back in and fixed it. A part in the back of the toilet was fixed and the toilet just worked great ever since. It works like new. I’ve always had very good luck with whatever AHS has done.

I had a water heater that was leaking. I made my AH claim over the phone and this time, it was a good experience. I called before and they asked me what was wrong then said they would turn it in and a company would call me. But they didn’t really ask me what was wrong. All they knew was I told them that something was wrong with my washer. But this time, they got all the information they needed when I called.
At first, we came online and a rep bot made sure that she had all the information that I had said before. She made sure that everything was right. And then she asked me what was wrong with the water heater. She told me that she had gotten the company that was gonna call me and that I would get an email and a text, which I did. I would rather talk to a real person, though. I’m an older person. AHS thought somebody would come on a certain day, but the person called me that day and said they would come the next morning. Two days later, I got a new one.
So far, the people who have come out would let me know for example that they were gonna be there between 8:00 and 1:00. If I'm at work, they would call me 30 minutes before they were gonna be at my house so that I could leave work and meet them there. I love AHS because if I have a problem, all I have to do is call them and they usually get me someone right away or at least the next day. There was only one time that I had a problem, but that was a couple of years ago when somebody was supposed to come but didn’t. I had to call AHS back and they had to just get a different person. As soon as I called them, they found me someone else. I’m satisfied with AHS on the whole and everything has worked out great.

The first water heater they brought out didn’t work properly. They came back the next day and replaced the thermostat, which made it work properly and they adjusted the heat temperature for me. I was quite pleased, and the people were nice, considerate, and thoughtful. AHS also replaced the microwave oven with no additional cost. It was built into the wall, and it was about 20 years old and falling apart. They put something hard in the wall, it’d cook the oven all the way through or warm it up.

The people we bought the house from had a warranty with American Home Shield and we just continued to pay the premiums on it. One time, the water heater went out in the middle of my son’s morning shower. He lost hot water and I went down and there was water on the floor. Initially, I forgot that we had the home warranty so I called Niebuhr Plumbing & Heating. They asked if I had a home warranty and I remembered that we have American Home Shield. Niebuhr said that they manage AHS' stuff but they had to get clearance from them before they replaced our water heater, so we did all that. Then, the new water heater came and they put it in. The new water heater is working beautifully without any problems whatsoever.
I called back a couple of days later because I was still cleaning up the water. The water had collected underneath the heater and I put a fan down there to dry it all up, but there was still water coming out underneath the heater. The contractor said that they would come and check on it to make sure that there was nothing wrong with the water heater. They came, looked at it, and said that the water was coming from our heater. One of the water heater people used to work for a carrier company and he said that he would take a quick look to see what was going on.
He took a panel off and he found where the water was coming from. He even showed it to me. He pointed at the two little rust spots inside my secondary heat exchanger, said that there was not supposed to be rust spots in there, and that it was where the water was coming from. He added that rust spots were already starting to indicate a problem and that right behind the rust spots were the water droplets.
We called American Home Shield first and they said that they would communicate with Niebuhr. Niebuhr Plumbing then called me and said that American Home Shield decided to replace the furnace. AHS said that replacing the secondary heat exchanger costs about the same price as the new heater, so they are sending me a new furnace. Right now, I am waiting on American Home Shield. They buy the product, give it to Niebuhr Plumbing, and Niebuhr has to install whatever American Home Shield sends them.
The furnace is gonna cost us $600 for the HVAC. The house was built in 1929, so they had to do some modifications to make the ductwork work. I paid American Home Shield 180 and Niebuhr 150 on top of that. It was an impact but it was much nicer than having to pay for the whole thing. The only complaint that we have is that it’s taking a little longer to get a heater, but I’m surprisingly very happy and satisfied. Other than that, the light went out on one of the switches in the basement too and we can’t figure it out. The light has been out for a couple weeks and I was waiting for the heater to get in before I hit AHS with the next thing.

We had American Home Shield when we purchased the home in Tennessee in 2012 and we renewed our warranty every year. When we moved to Florida and purchased our home, we purchased American Home Shield again. That’s how pleased we are with the company and with the home that we’re living in now, they’ve replaced our well pump.
We also had an issue with our washing machine where they were paying for more parts than the washing machine was worth. It was a new washer because we purchased it when we purchased our home in Tennessee and we only lived there for three years. The same thing kept breaking down and the issue went on for months. I submitted multiple claims and AHS sent out multiple contractors to try to rectify the issue until finally, the tech said that it was easier and more cost-efficient for them to purchase us a new washer. So, that was what they did. We’ve had issues with our refrigerator as well and they’ve come right out. The contractors have all been wonderful and we love American Home Shield. They’re good and I recommend them to friends of mine.
Recently, we had an issue with our dishwasher. I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield and their online site was very user-friendly. Contacted American Home Shield for service on heat pump because it was not working. They advise me of the contractor I needed to schedule service with so I contacted them. That’s when they told me they could not come out at the earliest for four days. Told me would be there between 10 am and 2:00pm. I agreed. That day they showed up at 6:30 PM. Examined my heat pump. Concluded problem was a transformer that was shorted out and then advised me they could not repair problem at this time. Had to get with American Home Shield to get authorization to perform repair.
One day went by not hearing from them. I decided to log on to website to see if repair had been scheduled but was surprised to see they had repair had been completed. So I called their 800 number and after about 40 minutes got a hold of representative and explain problem. While I was on hold she called the contractor but could not get a response and advise me that she would find out something and call me know later that day. Later that evening I had a call from American Home Shield. She explained problem was not covered due to transformer apparently had an electrical overload from a power surge which my home warranty does not cover and that I could contract the contractor to fix it but would have to pay it out of pocket.
Idea it was told by their contractor they could not get out to me for another four days so I contacted a local AC contractor who came out the next day. Repaired problem for half of what American Home Shield contractor wanted me to pay. He also inform me these transformers burn up for no reason whatsoever and he could not understand why the AMS contractor said it was a power surge. Next day American Home Shield contractor contacted me and advised me American Home Shield had approved repair and wanted to set up an appointment but I advised him my problem had already been corrected and I would not need their repair.
After that I contacted American home Shield to see if I could get an out-of-pocket refund for repairs paid after they had refused the repair and was told no because I did not use their contractor for the repair even though now it was an authorized repair. After countless phone calls and waits on the phone for service I decided to cancel contract because all you get is confusion with them and not up to standards contractors who do not actually work for you but for American Home shield and then they would only give me a small portion of what I had paid for this contract. My advice to anyone considering buying one of their insurance policy would be to set that money aside and pay for repairs yourself because American Home Shield will not come through.

This service provided has been pretty useless for me: - We had a huge water main leak in the basement causing flooding. We called AHS & after a long time we got an agent who said that they will send somebody immediately and the plumber will call us. After 1 hour when nobody called, we called them, again waited for a long time and then they said that the “emergency” contractor was scheduled to come after 3 days!!! So we got another plumber to fix the leak. AHS would not reimburse the payment which they should have covered as part of insurance.
- We had a toilet bowl leak. We called AHS. We said that we have the toilet bowl leak as well as other plumbing issues. The agent told us that we can add additional services later if it is in the same category - plumbing. The plumber came in on the day of the appointment and when we mentioned about the other issues we were told that we couldn’t add any new request. - Anytime we call, we can never reach anybody on the phone – always on-hold music for a long time. - Even for the cancellation, I was on the phone for 72 mins.

My biggest complaint with AHS would be the wait time on the line when you’re waiting to talk to somebody. They don’t have enough people working for them. I call back and wait again. Finally, I get someone, but by that time, I am doing something else, and I can’t focus on what they’re saying. Thereafter, they disconnect and then if it gets disconnected, they don’t call me back.
Recently, our washing machine was making a lot of noise when it was in the spin cycle. As soon as it stopped working, we called American Home Shield. We reported it at least two months ago and then the machine is still not fixed. It’s a year old machine, so it shouldn’t have issues, but it does. Also, it should be a part they should’ve easily gotten. AHS said they’re not in the business to do emergency repairs, and it takes time to get parts. To me, that’s not responsible. I called back after 48 hours. I had to wait at least an hour to get through to someone or they would disconnect before you can get through. It’s been a nightmare.
I called the other day and they said that they had to order new parts, and those haven’t arrived yet. I don’t know how they do it, but we have a work order to order them. But who knows if anyone ever ordered them. One time, they said that they called me and that I didn't answer so they canceled the order and I had to reorder it again. It goes on and on. In the meantime, we’ve got another washing machine because we really need to use one and then we’ll see if that gets fixed. Nevertheless, AHS has helped us many, many times. They’ve done wonderful things, so we’re not quitting them. This is just an isolated case.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

It’s easy to use because I’m not a maintenance person and every description is very much specific to what you’re looking for. I liked it. The contractor that came out was the one I had used before. They’ll get ahold of you in 24 hours and schedule. Since they had an opening come up before my appointment time, they called to see if I wanted to utilize the time because of the technician in my area. The tech came, did his job, and was here not too long, and I haven't had a problem since. Having American Home Shield is worth it especially to those of us that are not handy-savvy. Although there is a charge for somebody coming out to do work, it’s a small price to pay compared to what I would be paying if I go out to find a private contractor. I’ll recommend them.

I called American Home Shield as I had issues with my heater and hot water heater. AHS handled everything. The interaction I had with their rep was great. She was professional and always tried to help out and do what she can. It took them 72 hours to get someone out here. The contractor for the hot water heater was okay. I liked that he knew his stuff and he figured it out. With my heater, I had to call AHS back because the heater started messing up again a week later. The contractor came back out two days later, and he couldn’t find anything wrong. Everything was working when he showed up.

I have rental properties and my tenant calls in the complaint to my property manager, who makes a service request online because it's just so hard to get on the phone with American Home Shield. Nobody answers the phone, and you're on hold for half hour. I have the $75 service fee and they usually make me pay for it before any service. It was kind of a mess. It's not a very good system. My tenant’s been paying it sometimes and sometimes I'm billed for it, and there's just no consistency. I really wish that there would be a better communication as far as everything.
With the last one the garage door did not open. American Home Shield contacted Smokey’s Garage Door. Smokey’s emailed me for what time they could come out, then I have to email my property manager, “Okay. They're asking me what time. Shouldn’t the tenant decide?” It's just many steps. But I am the owner, so I do have a right to know what they do, because I have to keep maintenance records.
Also about a year ago I had a company that’s just, “Oh, I don’t have to tell you what we did and stuff like this.” And then now when my contract would be renewed, they went up $14 per rental and they didn’t even tell us. And when I called I was on hold for 15 minutes, and then somebody finally came on the line and I could barely understand her English because she had a very thick accent. I said, “I love to speak to somebody else who has a little better command with English Language.” So, then, I was on hold for another 15 minutes, and another person came on the line, and she also had a very thick accent. She wrote a statement that said, “Your rates went up because American Home Shield is going to increase the caliber of their service people because a lot of them are just startup companies and they're not that great.” AHS just really don’t care. They just kinda have that attitude where they don’t care as long as they get their money.

We recently bought a house that has some issues with its appliances. Placing claims is easy and the dashboard on their website is very helpful. We've had a few different contractors come out and the plumber that came out was very good. However, when I try to call to talk to a customer service representative, I have to go through a menu of automated features before I could get to somebody to speak to.
My most recent claim was for the GE profile dishwasher. We had a technician come out a couple of times. The first time, the technician told us that there were two issues with the dishwasher. Number one was that it didn’t clean properly, and number two, the lower rack didn’t work the way it should. The second time that he came out, he tried to tell us that he wasn’t sure if the parts were covered and explained that we should be using the extra hot water feature when running the dishwasher. So we tried that, and we still got the same result. For example, a glass of lipstick on it doesn’t come clean. And there was the film that’s still on the dishes even after we ran the dishwasher the way he told us to. It's an expensive machine so even without the “extra hot water” feature, it should still be satisfactorily cleaning dishes.
So I called and I placed another claim in for the technician to come out and look at it again. They're coming to fix the wheel on the bottom rack of the dishwasher. So I called Mr. Appliance and told the receptionist or office manager that I'm not sure if it would make sense to put the wheels on the bottom rack of a machine that’s not doing its primary job. She said that the technician could look at the dishwasher and evaluate it again. But I feel like this technician isn't addressing the problem and that he's trying to push it back on us that it’s a user error.

I called American Home Shield to submit a claim for my heating unit and I had a good interaction with the claims rep since I didn’t know what to do. He walked me through it and took care of everything. The contractor came out the next day and he was courteous. The first guy looked at it and then brought back a thermostat. Another guy came out when I called to tell them that the unit was still doing the same thing. He looked at it and he also looked at the outside. He turned one of the screws and the fan went off. There had to be a shortage in it, so we ordered a board. He came back the next day and put it in. Since then, it has been working fine.
The technician explained everything and he did good. You never know when something will break down and that can be expensive. I had some problems with my air conditioning before and I paid over 800 something dollars to get it checked up. So, the experience with AHS was good. I was recommended by my cousin to AHS since he had it so I got on it and you can’t beat it.

I bought my house in July and I've had American Home Shield since then. Their plan was reasonable. Also, I hate getting phone calls and the other companies were hounding me. Once, our furnace was working on and off. It was a faulty switch, which was common with the model that we had. I filed an online claim for it with American Home Shield and the contractor who came was very nice. He put an extra screw in and now the unit is working good.

This is the worst customer service experience of my life. Entered the service request November 17th. The contractor they assigned never returned my calls. After 2 weeks of this, I called American Home Shield, waited over 30 minutes on hold, and they assigned a new contractor. Contractor came out and determined dishwasher needed repair, and microwave needed replaced.
AHS emailed me a week later asking for specs on the microwave, which I provided right away. I asked for confirmation that they had everything they needed, and they never replied. Sent 3 more emails, to which they still haven't responded to. It is now December 21st and the contractor has no idea what's going on with the microwave. I call AHS, wait over 20 minutes on hold. Finally, someone answers, transfers me to another representative. I'm still sitting here on hold after 20 more minutes. As soon as they replace my microwave and fix my dishwasher, I'm dropping this company, telling my story to everyone I know, and all over social media. I'm disgusted by the amount of money I've paid this terrible company to be treated like this. Worst company I have ever encountered.
Good afternoon Nolan,

We reported an issue with our HVAC which just wouldn’t blow cold. This resulted in American Home Shield sending out no less than three contractors to assess the issue. The first said the control board was dead and needed replacing. The second said the heat pump needed replacing, the third said the thermostat was the issue and everything else was fine. But reported to American Home Shield that the wiring needed modifying. This took 4 months. American Home Shield went with the last guy, agreed to buy us a thermostat but we have to deal with a wiring issue ourselves in a house we’ve owned less than a year, and no resolution to our problem. Next time I’ll go with the other guy.

We bought AHS service for an year in Oct 2017. We sold our house in Feb 2018 and contacted AHS to cancel service. We were told we had an year long contract and they would terminate once 1 yr is complete in Oct 2018. However in Nov 2018 we were charged the monthly service fee. When we called, we were told it renewed automatically, however, they will process the cancellation and send us refund. In Dec we got a notice of late payment. When we called, we found to our dismay the account was still active. Yet again we were told they will cancel but for refund we need to chat to their retention department.
After waiting over 30 mins for retention department to pick up our call, hung up and waiting for them to resolve this issue. When someone says they will cancel our account 3 times and don't do it, moreover charge us for service we didn't consume, it's not just terrible service it's horrible customer management. I have disputed charges through my credit card company now and canceled my card on file with AHS. Terrible is an understatement for their service. Stay away from this company.

After being on hold for almost an hour every time, agents confirmed I will receive a refund within 2 to 4 weeks - but nothing so far. Back in Aug, I was charged two $100 deductibles even though I received only one electrical service call. I followed up in Nov 1st week when I called to open another incident and the agent confirmed that I will receive a $100 refund for the erroneous charges within 2 to 4 weeks (Why that long... No idea). I waited patiently and called again later but to no avail. No refund so far!!!
There is no value for customers' time, with long wait time. There is no courtesy or process to track such issues and call back customers where they have been swindled out of their money. This should be a big customer satisfaction issue that any company should address. It seems they are quietly taking money from ignorant customers with their credit card on file and with an agreement to charge their cards.
I talked to agents at least 3 times and each time agent confirmed I will get a refund. But nothing so far. I expected better performance from a highly rated company. If they have so many customers, they should add agents. If they can't call back, they can also have a process to address customer complaints via a service desk ticket. A customer should be able to respond to emails with their questions or follow up, without hours of wait time. This is a basic customer support process from... i.e. provided they care. Hopefully, they will resolve my refund. I have got tired of calling them.
Good afternoon Ritesh,

They said the technician they sent to our home did not list all the parts needed. WE have placed 6 calls to the technician (B and M) to resolve and no one has returned our calls. American Home Shield says they will follow up and no one has called back to update us despite our numerous calls to them. We asked for another repair service so we can move the process forward and they refuse to call another service technician. I guess we are talking to a call center, because there is never a supervisor available.
They promise a supervisor will be in touch within 48 hours and no one has ever called us despite repeated attempts for over 3 weeks. This is very frustrating and I just want my oven repaired. I want even get into the DW issue, it is just as poor. In my opinion, they are overselling their service abilities, understaffed, and overpromise. Would never sign up for this service again based off my experience. Be prepared to wait on hold for 30 - 60 mins every time you call. We reported a defective refrigerator on November 13, 2018. That day, we threw out about $300 worth of food. AHS sent a repairman out fairly quickly but misdiagnosed the problem. He replaced a fan that cooled for a couple of days and then failed. Within those two days, we replaced our condiments and other food items. When it failed a second time, we lost another $150 worth of food. Today is December 20, 2018 and the refrigerator is still not operable. I called AHS tonight and they said they could EXPEDITE the parts! I lost my mind.
It has been 5 weeks since we filed the first claim. This has been a terrible experience. AHS has a complete lack of regard for its customer. I had AHS on a prior home, had one experience with their claims department and it was great. That's why I requested AHS when we bought this house. Something's happened. Their regard for the customer absolutely stinks. Worst of the worst. I don't have any other recommendations for anyone reading this review but if you can't find something better than AHS, don't buy anything at all. Stick your money in a jar for a rainy day and you won't have to deal with these people.

I've had a horrible experience trying to get my water heater replaced in a home I purchased 2 weeks ago! American Home Shield is trying to force me to use a plumber that refuses to drain or remove the old water heater. Not to mention the additional non code required automatic stop valve or requiring that I build a shelf that meets code because he won't use off the shelf stands or build it himself as a plumber. I don't see any reason to pay someone full price to do only half a job!
Cost of the repair isn't even the issue. I actually think this is the one place AHS has come through. However that pales in comparison to the problems. It's completely unacceptable to me to not allow a homeowner to have any say in the contractor doing the work on their home. Especially when the homeowner doesn't feel comfortable with the contractor that is assigned. American Home Shield hasn't even called me back to discuss this with me, I had to be told by the plumber that provided the second opinion. Don't buy American Home Shield warranties, it's a complete sham. Trying to figure out how I can cancel my policy so I can go with a competitor. This situation has convinced me how good an idea a home warranty is, but I will never suggest to anyone using American Home Shield to provide it.

American Home Shield's dialing system is terrible. There have been times when I called, and it says they were at lunch, but it was past the time that said it was lunch. There were also literally a period where all day, it just went to a busy dial tone. So, I called from my work line and still the same thing. There was a part of me where I was like, "Okay, are they going out of business, what's happening?" I called AHS to get the appointment set quick and they said they would get someone out quick, and they did. When the tech got here, he asked if either AHS or anyone from his company asked me if the oven was a built-in, and I said no. So then, we had to get reassigned because his company doesn’t handle built-in ovens. This could have been just the vendor putting it on AHS.
The next tech who came out was friendly. He got right to the point so that was good. He was professional and good while he was there. However, he came on a Tuesday and the part that was needed wasn’t ordered until Friday. I had to call to follow up and see if the part is even there yet, so we can get them scheduled to come out. My wife also called AHS yesterday. She read them the Riot Act, and we were trying to sort it out because the process is that they have to order the part and then we wait for the part. The rep told us the part should be here by tomorrow and that my wife should call them. Again, I've been calling all day today and still getting nothing, but a busy tone. I also can't leave a voicemail. So, I don't know the status of our part.
Instead of this being done early December, now, here we are nearing the end of the month and still dealing with this. We are being patient even though it hasn’t been great with the current vendor we're with. We're waiting on the part now and we're just sticking it out. We're already too deep in at this point. But most of our concern has been with the vendor and not American Home Shield. We've had other issues like with the water heater and the dryer, and the experience had been awesome. I also love the process. AHS had been on it and someone got out quick.

The following week, it wasn't working again so they had to come back out. They found a little plastic thingy in the blade and after that, they got the disposal working. Last week, I spoke to their rep when I got double billed for that service. I got an email saying that I was gonna be dropped from AHS because I didn't pay the $75 to Ability, but it was paid. They asked me to pay it again. That should have been noted because after that, I got a bill for the $75 from them. I was planning on calling them, but I've been so busy. I'm worried because I've been with them for so long, and for them to say that they're about to drop me because of this bill, I would try to get it cleared. I just wish that AHS would fix their customer service issue about answering their phone. If you'd push the button like you’d take out their service, they'd answer immediately. I’ve actually done it to where I messed around in the phone line to where I acted like I’d take out their service and I pushed that line. I got them to answer. But if you would need to physically speak to somebody, you'd literally have to wait on hold for three hours.
Right now, AHS owes me $900 ‘cause they bought us out on our washer. They haven’t done the claim and that’s been 90 days. I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone for a leak detection and my interaction with their rep was good, as usual. However, the contractor didn’t contact me. I was the one who contacted them. They scheduled me for Friday but then they called me right back and told me that they made a mistake, so they moved to Monday, which was okay. The tech came and my interaction with him was excellent. He asked me what the problem was and he did his diagnosis. He went to the main water valve and he said it was the irrigation system, and he told me that he had some good workers that could do the job, but it would take about two days. I asked him an estimate and he gave me a ballpark. He said he was gonna send me an estimate via email and then he left.
I started playing with the valves in the house and I had to call him back. He was already on the freeway and he came back and was able to find a couple of leaks. One coming from my daughter’s bathroom. It was a toilet valve that was leaking and it was seeping through the wall towards the side of the house. That was where we saw the moisture. I told him that I had noticed moisture on the wall and the ground. I went to move some stuff that was blocking the area and that’s when he went in and he felt that the wall has moisture on the bottom. He went to his vehicle and grabbed his machine to hear also the leak outside, in the ground. He put on headphones and he realized it wasn’t from the outside. He asked me if he could go inside the bathroom to investigate, and that was when we saw the drip from the valve that we had not noticed.
There was also another drip that I could hear from our master bathroom, which is on the same side of the house. He fixed both problems but there’s still a leak outside. He said it was the irrigation from the main valve that connects to all the irrigation for the house outside so I decided to just shut it off. I don’t hear the drip from my bathroom anymore and the valve in the irrigation has no drip too. Having this warranty gives me peace of mind.
