We had a problem with the pool heater and American Home Shield sent out a company in the month of January. They said that it was some bad electrical contact and they did a quick repair. About a week and a half later, it stopped working. So, we called back and they sent the company back out again. It took a while for the company to get out there. They finally came out on the 24th of March and they mentioned at that time that they were going to order a part and try to repair it. Then they said, after about a month, that they could not get the part. The part wasn’t available, that that probably won’t take care of the problem, and that they were gonna request that the unit be replaced.

I had told them it had been like this for a couple of months and if they could hurry. They took forever. They never got it done. I also had a hard time getting in touch with American Home Shield because they always put me on a very long wait to talk to anyone. Finally, they escalated it up. I spoke to a gentleman at American Home Shield, and he said they'd just send someone else out there. The person that came out in May was Ponce Construction. Ponce Construction said about the same thing that the other person had said. They said that it was making a bad electrical contact. He fixed it quickly and he polished it off and reconnected it, and everything worked. So far, so good.

Ponce was very nice. The other contractor was also nice when they came out, but then for two and a half months, we never got that thing done. They never followed up. They said they were gonna do something and didn’t do it. I kept calling them and they kept on putting it off. Then I would call American Home Shield and American Home Shield would say, “We’re waiting for that paper. We haven’t got it yet. We’ll get in touch with them,” but it just wasn’t getting done.

American Home Shield should have taken the bull by the horns and said, “Okay, construction company number 1, you went out there. You saw this thing. They have been waiting for three weeks now. We need your claim form so that we can take care of this problem.” But they were dropping the ball. It wasn’t getting done. American Home Shield was the one that sent the person out there to fix it. They should be the one following up with them. I had to wait, followed up with them a lot. I was upset that it took so long to get that done and then upset that it took so long to finally say, “We’re gonna send someone else out there.” That could have been done two months ago.

When I initially submitted the claim online, the website had some problems loading. It was a technical issue but once it loaded, it was fine. But I had to call them because the company that was supposed to come out wasn't responding. So they switched the claim to another company and once I got Upland assigned to it, they made the appointment right away. I had a leak and they fixed the problem. It was great. It was very professional.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield through the app on my laptop and they said the company would call me within 48 hours. It was near the end or past that and I looked up online and found the phone number. I called the contractor and he happened to be in my area. He said he would come right out. He came within an hour, and he and a worker climbed on the roof, did their thing and fixed it up. They were great and the guy was nice. He said that the system is intact and looks good. It just needed Freon and he had to put 4 pounds of refrigerant in the cooling system. I had to pay him 200 bucks with some change. He said that American Home Shield didn't cover it. They only cover the first $10 of the pound and it was expensive. But it cooled the house down and worked perfectly.

We've been with American Home Shield for 10 years and this is the first time I've ever used it. We had a leak in the refrigerator, and it was getting into our hardwood floors. We called it in and we had to wait three days for Gilmore's Home Solutions to get here, but it was the holiday weekend. The gentleman that came out was very good. He made the fix right away and he did a great job. We were very satisfied even though we have a little bit of damage on our hardwood floors from the leak. Another thing I'm disappointed with is the monthly dues keep going up and up and up. My girlfriend told me that she uses one that is half the price. Because I've only used American Home Shield once out of 10 years, I hate to pay that high price, but for right now, we're going to stick with them. I'd never give up having insurance, but it's still a little concerning with the price going up all the time.

My AC wasn’t cooling and the circuit breaker kept on clicking every time I put my AC on. So, the contractor cleaned it out because it was backed up with dirt. It started working and didn’t freeze up. I got American Home Shield when I first purchased the house back in October and I'm a first-time homeowner, so I didn’t know how to deal with all of that. It was quick and easy. It didn’t even take more than 10 minutes. Plus, the contractor was easygoing and nice.

American Home Shield got Multiple Services to come out for an AC issue, and they fixed it. Submitting the claim online has been easier. I sat on hold for over 45 minutes because I wanted to request them. I didn't want to get a random company because the last company that they had come out was full of BS and tried to get us to buy extra things that we didn't need. Multiple Services is a more honest company. AHS needs to check out the people that they use or their services as far as lawsuits. But the home warranty is very good.

Grade A Plumbing fixed the two plumbing issues I had. I submitted the claim right from American Home Shield's website. We've had American Home Shield for over a year and that's how I most likely have done most of my claims. I loved them. They were awesome. The guys got here early. They were quick, honest and they knew what they were doing. They went to get the part, came back, and fixed everything.

When we were washing dishes, water was coming out of the base and we had water all over the place there and Grade A Plumbing fixed that. Then the one upstairs was also spurting out at the base and they fixed that as well. It worked great for like a couple of days. But now when you turn it on, there are no problems, but when you turn it off, you gotta move it around to get the drip to stop. It drives me crazy. I don't wanna get hit with another $75, so I'm trying to figure out a way to call Grade A Plumbing.

I filed a claim to repair my refrigerator in March 2020, AHS sent one vendor and told me he could not do anything because the refrigerator was bolted to the ground which was not true, the second vendor came two weeks later and told me I needed a part which he ordered, it took the past two months to arrive, in the middle of a pandemic, my refrigerator was not working, lost all of my food and had to wait an hour on the phone to get customer service!!

So the part finally came in and the third vendor came to install the part but now my refrigerator was leaking water. So when he got there he asked if this was going on when we came the last time and I said yes, so he went on to tell me that the part he had would not repair this and unplugged the refrigerator. AHS reassigned another vendor who came to assess the problem, they could not do anything because they said the refrigerator had been unplugged so they could not make an assessment. Now AHS wants to reassign my repairs to a fourth vendor. This is absolutely crazy, I have been without a refrigerator for over three months and AHS does not seem care. They do not have support services for customers with unique horror stories such as mine and you have to wait an hour to get anyone on the phone and then they put you back on hold to review the problems. AC went out on 4/15/2020, company contracted by AHS responded on 4/19/20. After troubleshooting Fast Response found that our compressor was bad. Also while troubleshooting the tech broke a part that connects to the breaker. Which we found out would require an electrician to come out and repair. The compressor had to be ordered but was not ordered until 4/22/2020. Nothing that has to be ordered is expedited per the Rep so it took until 6/2/2020 for the compressor to come in, but it was not until we called Fast Response that we found out that it was in so that we could schedule for it to be installed.

On 6/4/2020 Fast Response replaced our compressor and closed the ticket as completed. But we still need an electrician due to what their tech damaged. We received a email from AHS in regards to the company that they issued our ticket to. But I noticed that we're responsible for the service fee. Why when the AC tech is the one who broke the part and we're told that they will pay for the repairs. Tried calling AHS but it is impossible to reach anybody due to the extremely long wait times on the phone. It is suggested that you go online to resolve your issues. But there is nowhere online to address your concerns. Could someone please assist us with this matter. We like our package with AHS but there has to be a better system when it comes to making contact.

Saying it takes 24-48hrs. It does not take that long to call someone. I can call someone right now and get them out here but I would be charged. Why get charged if I have my warranty company. So when I called, I was on the call for 50mins before someone picked up. Here it is 4:48pm, still not call for repair, I have a retired military senior that lives in my household along with 4 animals and myself. My thermostat is reading 85 degrees in my home. Worst possible company and customer service. Minimum 1 hour (consistently) waiting to get hold of a customer service representative. Took 40 days to reach a diagnosis on the fridge. The contractor specifically told me that he would recommend replacing it. But when that diagnosis reached them, the diagnosis changed to "we are not able to fix, go to another company".

Asked them to go talk to the contractor company, and resolve this. The customer representative didn't want to. She gave me the option to either wait for an official mail from them (saying to go to another company), or go with another company right now. Also, the contractor company was just not professional, being late the three times they came to my house, and each time 3+ hours. And took them three trips to diagnose, where they could have reached that from the first trip. After I asked for cancelation, things were super smooth. Probably because the cost of fixing the fridge was higher the premium I paid. Asked to be transferred to the complaint department. I was put on wait for 15 extra minutes, where I gave up and hanged up.

The next day, I got a phone call from the plumber. We set up a time for him to come out and was there at that time. Then he followed up and took care of it. I never had to do anything other than to reply to a survey. He was quick, courteous, outstanding, and on point. The process was simple from the time when he first came out, looked at it, knew what the issue was, explained it, and then set up a time around my schedule, which was very busy. He didn't waste a lot of my time, which impressed me. He knew exactly what the issue was and made himself flexible around my schedule when he came back to make the repairs. I appreciated that.

Updated on 06/27/2020: I would like to share my experience with American Home Shield again. At the time of taking contract, I was informed that I can cancel the service anytime without any cost. Now, that I had very bad experience with AHS, I decided to cancel the service and another bummer came from Cancellation department. Alex from Cancellation department mentioned that I have to pay cancellation fees and when I informed her that I was not informed about any cancellation fees, her response was Sales team do not know about cancellation charges. So, seems like this company is running very unprofessionally where Sales team do not know how other department in the company running.

Original: I had a very bad experience with American Home Shield. Couple of weeks back my basement got flooded due to broken Sump Pump. I called AHS for immediate service, they said technician will come in 24 to 48 hours. It took 4 days for technician to come. In the meantime, I had to take out water using bucket to clean my basement. Technician came after 4 days, put a recommendation for replace and then request got closed/declined after 4 days and again I had to open the case for technician visit.

During these days, I was trying to call AHS and waiting time to talk to anybody in AHS is 4-6 hours. So, basically, you can't even complain about the bad service. Technician again came and again recommended replacement. Now, the request is pending from last 3 days. Weather is bad again and I do not know what's going to happen in my basement if it rain again. So, in short, very bad response time, nobody to receive your complain on phone, nobody reply on Facebook or other social media.

I can go online but it's somewhat difficult for me. I’m a Realtor and it gets confused with my personal and my other ones. Apart from that issue, submitting my claim was easy and it was quickly handled. AHS's contractor, Outlaws Heating & Air, came to fix my problem. While I've had some vendors through AHS that I'm glad I don't have anymore, Outlaws has worked for me in the past and the tech who came for them was very professional and courteous. I met him at the door and stepped away. He was good a social distancing too which was pleasing. He looked at what he needed to look at and got the job done. Afterward, he was gone.

I'm a realtor and I have several rentals which are covered by AHS's warranty as well. They are a company I use professionally and I recommend them to all my clients. Often, an AHS coverage is what I get them for a housewarming gift. I really like AHS and that we have a local representative at our location named Rebecca. She goes above and beyond. If I or any of my clients have problems, I have somebody whom I could call.

But in the second year, they didn’t give me a break anymore. Then I sold that house so now, I’ve had them here in this house for 10 years or more. I normally call late and the call goes in the queue. Then there's always a wait time no matter what you do or who you call.

American Home Shield should make sure that they'd vet the people they pick better. I had a guy who did my stove. Then the company came back and said that due to misuse, they wouldn't be replacing the handle on the stove. The handle didn’t really need replacing but there was no misuse. I didn’t push it because the stove was working and the guy did a good job and fixed it. He had to come back again ‘cause he had to get a part. I don't like that they’ll come and say misuse even if it's not and that’s what they do to get out replacing it. They also need to stop increasing the monthly price because you pay for the monthly service and then you pay for when the tech comes out.

I had bubbling in my toilet and there was water coming in the basement back up. The claim submission with American Home Shield was difficult 'cause I waited forever on the line 'till somebody answered. They didn't answer right away 'cause they were dealing with everyone. Sometimes it has taken 35 to 40 minutes before one to answer. Then their reps were a little difficult to understand. I had to repeat myself several times 'cause sometimes I'd get hoarse. I also told them to put my cell number instead of the home number but they always put the home number. They still didn't transfer it out.

When I told the AHS reps what was going on, they didn't know how to put it down. I told them that I was having water back up coming in from the toilet. Then the plumber showed me that it just said toilet backup so they didn't have the equipment and then they had to come back out again the next day. The plumbers are okay. But I'd have to call them because they might've used some type of thing that would go down the toilet and they scraped my toilet and toilet seat.

Our air conditioning was not working. I called American Home Shield and they referred me to Steinmetz. It’s not the first time we’ve had them and they did as good a job as they could. My issue is that we have an old air conditioning furnace, and I’m disappointed that the American Home Shield, in this day and age, would postpone replacing to the point of danger. It’s getting to the point that parts are not available. We have to wait longer because they have to order parts. I’m afraid we’re gonna have a fire, we’re gonna have damage, we’re gonna be gone, the air conditioner will go out, and then food will spoil. I’m really concerned about that. There needs to be some sort of a stricter guideline on making certain that there’s safety involved. We’ve paid into this system for years. I was worried last night. I felt it was extremely hot in here. I first checked the thermostat. It was 80 and it was set at anywhere from 75 to 78.

I’ve been happy all along up until I feel like I don’t think AHS is looking at the consumer’s need and our situation because the problem is getting worse, not getting better. It is getting scary and it’s the equipment talking. I think it is worn out. It’s like they’re trying to save money, and I’ve been spending money all this time, and I feel like that’s why I’m with American Home Shield is that I like a home warranty service when they perform the way they should. They’ve always taken our calls, they’ve always given referrals, but all of a sudden, when it gets down to a major piece of equipment in our home, it’s like they’re patching it together so there’s a lot of minus signs on this thing.

I put in three claims: the furnace, the hot water heater, and the stove. I usually call for my claims. Once I speak to somebody with my claims, they’re always prompt. The guy came and checked my furnace first, but he had to order some parts for that. We’re squared away with that. But then, this other guy came out to check my hot water heater but he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. He said I had an electrical problem. So, I put in another claim for the electrical, but they couldn’t find anybody in my network. So, they gave me a contract to find somebody to get that job done. I found somebody and I just talked with him today. He has to get a permit to do what he has to do.

I had an experience with a contractor a couple of years ago and I wouldn’t recommend him to come back. But that was only once. He acted like he wasn’t too knowledgeable anyway. So, another guy came and fixed my problem in 15 minutes. That's what I've been looking at. I don't look at professionalism. I don’t look at anybody with a lot of lip service. If you can do the job, go ahead. But if you can’t, you’re going to leave. I’ve been dealing with Home Shield for a couple of years now and I would highly recommend them. I had no problem getting results in a timely fashion. I got a lot of family member who is member now.

The man from Astro Appliance was exceptionally knowledgeable. I have three refrigerators. One of them was freezing and creating a sheet of ice that would stop the function of the freezer. So, the man came and diagnosed it right away quickly that he needs to first remove the ice. And then after that, he proceeded to clear the passageway that was causing the problem. He solved it within 45 minutes, and everything worked fine. He was very good.

I called American Home Shield to submit my claim and used their automated system. The only one suggestion I have is to make it simple. The certain things that they require are not listed on the automatic platform. They should have at least a way to access a representative. That would be very helpful if they could add that to their automatic system.

Having the warranty is very important. One doesn't use it often but if something happens, you'd call someone who is knowledgeable like this man who came to fix the fridge. It would be very reassuring for any person. I would recommend strongly that people always subscribe to it. Last year, I subscribed to their new electronic service for their computers. I'm thinking of canceling it in the next couple of months. They told me I have to wait a year before they cancel it. So, I'm going to do it.

The American Home Shield electronic servicing is absolutely useless. If you have some problem with one of your technology like your computer, your Blu-ray player, or your television, the first thing they tell you is, "Well, send it to us." You gotta go find a box to fit it in. You have to find the shipping company and you have to take it back to American Home Shield. Someone comes to your home and see if they can take care of it or they cannot. For us to send it to the person is not practical. So, I subscribed to the Geek Squad instead when I needed someone to come and see what's wrong with my computer. Even in this environment of pandemic, in two weeks someone came and fixed it, then left. Also, you pay much less to them than you pay to American Home Shield.

We've been with AHS for 10 years and I like the security of knowing that if we have a major problem, they're there. We had a water heater go a couple of years ago and there was, what I thought, was a pretty large portion of expenses to us, but for the most part, it's worked. But they had to come out and fix our dishwasher a couple of times and they never performed well, and our microwave too. So, we just went to buy new appliances. It has its value but at the same time, it doesn’t necessarily do exactly as they advertise.

AHS needs to be very clear that the monthly payment doesn’t cover all the costs, that there's some shared out of pocket, in some instances, more than others. On the water heater, we paid off $800 out of pocket. But just recently with the pool, it was the deductible. The contractors who came out did it in a timely manner and were professional and it’s working.

This is my first time dealing with Home Shield and I like them. It was very easy making a claim and I like that too. I put one online for an AC unit. The Right Guys HVAC and Plumbing was my designated vendor. I requested the service late yesterday and the next day, they were there and they solved the problem. I felt good about the vendor. Their tech did a very good job doing the testing. My air conditioning was low in gas so he stayed there until he put the pressure up and the air conditioning was running as it’s supposed to be. Everything was fine.

The previous time that we had put in a claim for it, they didn’t do the correct water valve, so it was blocking the icemaker from producing ice and they had to replace it. They were great and the unit has been perfect since, which makes life much easier. All in all, American Home Shield has been a wonderful experience and we have never regretted buying the contract. I couldn’t get the door to go down. It worked one minute, and the next minute, I went to go put my car up, and couldn’t get in my garage. It would only go up so far and then it would go down, and it was weird. So, I had to have help. I called a claim in to American Home Shield and spoke to a rep who said that they had set it up and I would get a phone call. Magic City Door was out within a day. They were great and everything’s been fine. The spring of my door broke within three days after they were out, and the spring was not covered. I called them and said, “I have a problem. Can y’all come back out?” When they came out, they said it was not covered by my warranty, which is fine. They were very nice and helped me get things taken care of where I could use the door again.

American Home Shield is great and they’re there for their customers. I’ve enjoyed using American Home Shield. I’ve used them in my previous house and in this house, I had to wait a whole year because the person bought someone else’s warranty, which wasn’t worth the paper that I never got. I never received any kind of paperwork from them and they’re hounding me now, trying to get me back but I tell them, “No. I have who I need. I went back to the people I used in my previous house ‘cause I didn’t have any problems with them.” I'd tell others that I enjoy American Home Shield's services because they helped me to repair things in my house when I wouldn’t even know where to go to get things repaired.

The washing machine was unrepairable according to the BJ Appliance. We had to put in a claim for replacement with AHS. I had bought the new washer and AHS was supposed to reimburse me up to $648 for a new one, and I have not received that yet. It's been more than 10 days. The technician did the right thing with the washer but we've had issues with him on our dishwasher. American Home Shield had to get somebody else out here to look at it. And that was kind of unacceptable. Also it is hard to get to talk to somebody at AHS. There's always a very, very long wait.

I've had AHS for at least 15 years. It was convenient because when something breaks, you don't have to go look for a contractor, they do it for you. The less you have to talk to American Home Shield, the better. If you can do everything online, that's much better. However when you go online and make a service request, there should be a part where you can check off "other" if it's not one of those boxes they want you to check. Also if you have two of your items out at the same time, it'd be nice if you could put a notation in there. One time an animal chewed the wire of two of our air conditioners at the same time. I called the guy out here and he said he is only supposed to do one. We had to call back to American Home Shield while he was here.

I do like the idea of paying American Home Shield now instead of paying the contractor. Also, I noticed when we had a plumber come out, it assigns a plumber by default, but I don't like that plumber, because I've had him before. If it would let me pick another plumber, that would be handy. My biggest complaint with them is if they owe you money, forget it. You can't get it out of them. There have been times where I've overpaid on the service charge for some reason and they said they would refund in a couple of weeks. I called and called, and after about six months, I gave up.

The water was consistently running in our shower and there was no way you could shut it off. It was late Sunday night and I had to wait until the next morning. I just had to eat the cost of a water bill because I didn't wanna pay for an emergency. I got up early and made the call, and they were immediately out there, which was wonderful. I am so pleased with American Home Shield over the company that I had. They were 500% better than the other company I had.

The contractors were very pleasant, they're very gracious. I thanked them for wearing their masks. We've had two calls now with American Home Shield since the first of the year and they are just special. They're professional. They come in, they put their slippers on their shoes. The plumber didn't. We do have a compromised person in my home. When the young man came for the plumbing, he did not have his mask on when he got to the door. And I said, "You are gonna put a mask on before you come in," and so, he did.

I absolutely love AHS. I had a company that was horrible. And they have been such a breath of fresh air and that's why I switched to them when my contract was up. There was no hesitation. I had had several claims with the other company last year and I asked their service people, "Who do you work within the home warranty industry that you would recommend to me over this company?" They outstandingly told me American Home Shield is a good one.

The water heater started leaking in the tank, and the carpet down the hallway got flooded. I called to submit the claim for it and I waited an hour on hold. The rep, nevertheless, was good. While the contractor from JQ Air & Electric was quick to get it installed, it took a while for them to send the request in to American Home Shield and for them to approve it. The approval took a couple of days, and we had no hot water for about five days -- that was something that could have been improved. But, other than that, it was good.

The contractor stayed in communication with me this time, but last year, when we had a claim on our air conditioner, it took them two months to get it installed because they were busy. It was in the middle of summer. They gave me a certain day that it would be installed, and the day came. So, I called them and the guy said, "I got pushed back." I had to keep calling and bugging them before they came do it. We have had American Home Shield for about two years now and it helps. I'm not much of a handyman and it is not something I want to worry about.

There were several items on the repair request we have for AHS. There were three faucets that were dripping and those had been repaired satisfactorily. But the first, biggest and the most important job is we had no hot water. It is still not replaced and that’s the thing I’m unhappy about. I've had terrible communication problem. I waited on hold for a total of an hour and a half one day and never got through. And then when I finally got through on another call on a Monday they didn’t have any information for me yet even though the repair guy was here on Friday. They claimed they didn’t have it from the plumber yet even though I know it was sent electronically.

Finally, they got it and they called me yesterday to inform me that the portion I would have to pay is $690 or they’ll give me $650 in lieu of replacing. They want to charge me not only the 125 service fee but another 690 in miscellaneous fees and what they call “Modifications” to put it in. That’s ridiculous. I’m currently shopping around for other estimates right now. Since they took four days to get back to me I’m gonna take a few days to get back to them.

I've had AHS for almost one year. The policy expires on June 14th and that’s the other bonus contention. I hope somebody at American Home Shield listens to this. You wanna renew it for 27% more money. I paid 500 bucks and something without having a claim. They sent me a renewal notice for $715 before I ever made the claim. That’s partly why I decided to start making claims. I was like, “Man, this company, they haven’t given me anything. And here, they’re wanting more money.” So I’ll be shopping that too before I renew. It’s terrible to raise the price on a existing customer. AHS is terrible and I’m very, very dissatisfied.

I called them back, but he didn't come. I called to complain with Home Shield, but they didn't take my complaint. But then I didn't want him back because I felt threatened by him, so I was glad he didn't come back.

I waited about a month having difficulty with the washer until I called again, and paid the $75 again. The guys from Care came out and said, “No. A quarter could not get stuck in the machine,” like the other guy said. One of the guys said, “It doesn’t fit. I don’t think the other guy wanted to do the job.” Those two guys are awesome. They came out twice, but they got everything running amazingly.

I've had American Home Shield for about 20 years and whenever I called to get something fixed, it's usually right away. I never have any problems. The only thing was when I tried to report the first guy who came for the washer, it was like no one could help me. I had to end up paying another $75 because I chose to wait. So, I ended up having to pay another $75 so that they could fix it when it should’ve been fixed the first time. That was the first time I’ve had difficulty with them. Otherwise, I really like the Home Shield.

We had no power on some outlets. I requested for service online and a technician came out in only a couple of days. His name was Joe from City First Electric and he was very professional, very helpful, and I'm very satisfied with his work. Home Shield is helpful when we have issues with appliances and anything around the house. The $75 per service seems reasonable. The monthly payment of 90 something dollars a month seems reasonable. We’ve used them a lot. However, there was this one time when our dishwasher was not working, and we had service for four to five times with Home Shield, and with two different vendors, but they couldn’t figure it out.

I asked Home Shield if they could just replace the dishwasher since it was not working. It wasn’t covered. Home Shield would keep sending technicians to fix it, but the problem still existed. So, we just ended up replacing the appliances. Our washer and dryer were of the same issue as well, and we just ended up replacing them ourselves. That would be something that Home Shield could improve later on. If there’s an appliance that stopped working and couldn’t be fixed anymore, that some help with the replacement would be better than not covering anything.

I have a three-part refrigerator and the bottom part which is a freezer had ice building up in it. The ice maker was also not working correctly and wasn't making as many ice cubes. Submitting a claim for its repair online to American Home Shield was easy. AHS made it so much easier by having everything set up online. I just put my request in and within a couple of days I heard from one of their contractors called GE Appliances. When their tech came over, he told me that there was a gap in the seal that was carving. He got rid of the ice and sealed the seal tight. Now I don't have any problems with my refrigerator. My ice maker is working well and there is no ice forming in my freezer anymore.

We called American Home Shield when our pump stopped working and they acted and got us the information for the vendor quickly. I received an email or a text confirmation saying that we should be contacted within 24 hours of the submission, but we were able to get in touch with the vendor within the 24 hours. It was quick and it went well. Cool Pools came out, diagnosed the problem, let us know what was going on, and kept us informed. They did a good job.

I’ve been checking on our pump every day and everything seems to be working properly now. The kids are able to swim, and the pool is clean again, so it’s good, especially when it’s getting hot. All in all, American Home Shield has been great. It’s good peace of mind knowing that when things go wrong, we have somebody we can call and get this stuff worked out.

We had a leak in one of our pipes, and a guy from Yamaz Plumbing came and fixed it expertly. He comes to the house. He’s usually the person that American Home Shield assigns to us. The house is old, so we have plumbing issues here and there, and he patched it up nicely and it was very quick. He was really good at communicating with us, which we really appreciate with our handymen. It was an awesome experience as always, and I love American Home Shield. We wouldn’t be able to live without it.

We've had coverage with American Home Shield since we bought the house in 2016. I immediately signed up for it knowing that we would need it because we ourselves are not the handiest of people. When we first bought our first townhouse in 2002, we got American Home Shield as a gift from the Realtor. And then, because we were so budget-conscious and not making a lot, I canceled it. I regretted canceling it because things would begin to break. So, when we bought the new townhouse, we were like, “We have to get this. It’s a good investment.” It has certainly become exactly that.

Georgia Boy Electric came. Because of the virus everything was a little behind. The tech couldn’t tell what the issue was because my stove was so old. I had to have it replaced. It didn’t take long once we got it settled. I paid more than what they gave me for the stove, but the stove was old. I just wasn’t happy that it wasn’t at 36-inch. My old stove was a 36-inch, and I had to get a 30-inch one. So now, I got a gap that I have to fix. Another thing I didn’t really like on the new one is it doesn’t have a cover. My old stove has a griddle but it had a cover. Also, this stove doesn’t change to five eyes. It just stays four with the griddle. My old stove had five eyes. But other than that, the new stove is good.

I had a code that the dishwasher was leaking. I went online, put the claim in and it was taken care of. The tech looked over things and he saw a big leak. He assessed that the leak was being caused by the stuff around the door and he ordered a part. When the part came in, I notified them, and they sent out another man to install it. The man told me that there was no leak around the door. It was something else. He fixed it and it was fine. Then I noted that I was getting a leak in another portion underneath the sink and he came back out. He said when he pulled the dishwasher out to do something, it loosened the connection from where the water comes into the dishwasher. So he tightened that. I checked it and there was no water. So he fixed it and they’ve done their job.

I had American Home Shield for several years. I stopped them and I got somebody else which was a lower price. But after three months, I canceled them out because they were absolutely unreliable and they didn’t do anything. So I came back to American Home Shield. With the warranty, I’m assured that if I have a leak, they will tend to it. They take a while, but it'll get done. So I have to take the good with the bad.

I had a washer/dryer combination claim that I called in but they could not repair it. They told me to go and buy another one and they gave me an estimate on how much they would pay for it. It seemed that in the communication online, they could’ve bought it at the price that they quoted and replaced it. But they verbally had told me I have to go out and buy my own, and it cost me $300 or $400 above what they estimated the value of the machine.

I went to three different places to get the same machine that I had and the prices all were within $100 of themselves and it was still $300 or $400 more than the amount that they paid me for it. Everything else over the years that I’ve had American Home Shield, they have done as much as they can do to repair anything. But they don’t wanna replace. If they can’t repair it, then I know that I’m gonna still would pay more than what they’re gonna pay for the unit, when and if it comes.

The tech fixed those issues and made sure that the condenser would start. He also refilled the unit with Freon, which costs me about $420. I didn’t realize Freon was that expensive. But there’s another problem and it hasn’t been resolved. Plus I don’t want anybody in my home because I’m an elderly person and I didn’t wanna be exposed to coronavirus.

But the gentleman who came was a very nice guy. He did his work and explained to me what was going on. A new icemaker had replaced the old one but the problem continues. Apparently, it has something to do with the little wheels on the tray. Two wheels are missing and apparently, those are not shutting off the lever that shuts off the icemaker. It needs another part and the contractor is gonna let me know in a few days when another part comes in. Hopefully, it’ll come in and fix the issue.

We submitted the claim online and doing it that way was great. But when we tried to reach somebody, sometimes it took a of couple hours on the phone. My wife just put it in speaker and did her chores or whatever. And then, she might call at 9 o'clock and answer at 11:00. But she just put it on speaker so she can hear if somebody picked it up on the phone. But to reach somebody over the phone is really hard. Home Shield should make phone call system more reachable. But even with everything, like especially the one where somebody comes, like the plumber or somebody else, they were precise, and said what time he would come and follow up. That was very good.

We had a leaking a tub. Because it was leaking, we just capped it so it kind of stopped before we resolved the problem. We capped it so there was no leakage and no more damage under the tub. And then, we called Home Shield and they said, “We can not cover this because it's capped. So, if you let it go, and then, the plumber sees where it's coming from, then probably we will take care of it.” I think we should just plug it back in or I don't know. I'm not thinking about it yet. I don't need to fix it. The contractor told me that it’s hard to justify what the problem was. He said the first thing, same thing he was thinking, that it was a main valve. So he said if I went ahead and ordered a valve and installed everything, and it kept leaking, then I have to keep forward and do something else.

He said, “Let me come talk and explain this to Home Shield.” And then, he said, “Once I tell them everything, then I’ll call you back.” And then, he did everything, and somebody from Home Shield called us and said, “Well, we will not cover this because we can’t find out what the problem is, because it was capped.” After I called back the plumber who was in our house, and told him, “Can you go ahead and plug it back in?” He said, “You have to pay for that.” I said, “Okay, I will.” But he never came back. I didn't get back to him so far.

I had a few claims and everything was perfect. I had a dishwasher and Home Shield did some for courtesy for me for the oven. They replaced the oven for me and I feel good. It’s just that I don't know about this plumbing issue. I have to figure out something. I just didn’t go really close to it yet. It's going good so far except that I have to solve this little problem. Everything was great. Home Shield is pretty good.

This was the first time I ever used my home insurance and I'm still confused on what's even covered. I really don't even know that type of stuff. I have a lot of other issues and things I need to get fixed, but I don't even know what's covered. When I got the insurance, I paid an extra for a swimming pool. But then I was talking to my neighbor and he said that most homeowners insurance doesn't cover swimming pools. I'm confused if I should even bother with that.

When I had a leaking showerhead, I tried to get somebody on the phone but that was impossible. That was the second call that I attempted to make to Home Shield in the past month. I'm talking about waiting 45 minutes on the phone. And that's why I went through the link on the newsletter. The website then said that someone would contact me within the next 48 hours. SAP Services called me the next morning.

The tech was great. He put in a new cartridge. Even if I would have disassembled it, I wouldn't have known what it was. And then I learned that there's a cartridge behind there that every once in a while needs to be replaced. Now I know next time. He was really helpful. When I submitted the claim, I was pretty sure I put two leaks, but on the tech's work order, when he arrived, it just said one leak. So, he can just fix the one leak and he told me what I needed to do to fix the other leak. It's something minor that would cost me probably $10, which is definitely better than the $75 I have to pay.

Summer last year, we had an issue with the air conditioner and AHS sent somebody here. They changed the compressor and then I paid them for coming. Then they said that I didn't have coolant. So they put the Freon in which cost me around $450. This summer, we turned the air conditioner on and it worked for two days and then again, it was not cooling. I called AHS again and they sent Fast Response. The guy said I have a leak on a basement. He fixed the leak. He changed the old piece and put a new piece. I had to put Freon again so that was another $450. I don’t think that’s fair because I already paid for the Freon last year, and now, I have to pay again because the person that was sent here last year never checked if I had a leak or not.

When I have a claim, I usually call AHS and they'll ask what is the issue, whether it’s air condition, then ask if essential and I always say essential. After that, they'll ask me what is wrong and then they'll say somebody will contact me. Then I get an email with whoever is coming to fix it. The contractor will call me the day they are supposed to show up, like an hour earlier before they arrive to make sure somebody is at home. The contractors are always very nice and professional. When they’re talking, they seem like they know what they’re talking about. But the first tech that came out for the AC didn’t know what he was talking about because he never checked for leaking.

In the past, AHS fixed the washer and they replaced the dryer. It was a very good experience. They were excellent. The last time they fixed the air conditioner, I thought it was going to be a good experience too. I’m already paying for my warranty every month and when I put a claim, I have to pay $75 to put a claim. But then I had to pay $450 for the Freon. I called AHS and asked what they were gonna do about it but nobody called me back.

I have the reps put a note not to send the contractors that I don’t like back to my house. I've had a few where the experience was a bit unpleasant but for the most part, they do good. People are making adjustments because of the COVID-19 impact. So, people are transitioning to work from home. So, I understand that that's making the wait time a little bit longer but I like that the contractors no longer handle money.

We have a security system and we have the camera on the front doorbell. But over time, we could not hear our doorbell. My husband wanted to put in a new doorbell on the inside of the home. My husband knows some electrical stuff and so when he was trying to connect the new doorbell and putting the wires together and we were testing it, it would no longer work. He felt better to have a professional come out because he doesn't know about the transmitters. We called AHS and advised the representative that we needed an electrician to come out. They contacted the electrician, the company, who contacted us to make the appointment.

I thought the contracting company Electrical Service Professionals were professional. They were here when they said they were gonna be here. Everything was done quickly. The young man that came out was knowledgeable like he didn't have to call the office for help. He didn't have to leave for parts, he had parts. He confirmed that it was the transmitter. He replaced it and put the doorbell and everything back up. They were excellent and exceeded my expectation.

I only call American Home Shield when I have a big issue that I can't fix. They'd contact us reputable businesses, and those businesses come out and send great workers. So, even the relationship as far as American Home Shield is in connection with these great companies is a plus. They are always available as well. Even if it's after hours, we can go online, we've done that before. I love the appliances and the amount of things that they cover because it's almost everything that's why I stay with them for so long now.

The AC was not cooling properly. He worked on it and it's working now. I did the claim to American Home Shield over the phone. I spoke to a very nice person. I've got AHS since 2016. The previous owner forwarded the contract to me. I do have another house also that I associated with AHS, and another condominium in Nashville also. We got four accounts with them right now.

I went with them and so far, I've been pleased with the service. Each time we call, AHS would respond to the issues and complaints I have. Most recently, their contractor All Appliance Parts came for my appliance issues. The tech did a great job. He fixed my stove with no problem. They had to replace my microwave so I bought one and AHS reimbursed me for that purchase. I am satisfied with their service.

It said that they would call me or I would get some sort of notification from the technician when they would come in. Considering Covid, I assumed that it might be a while, but it was actually a few days. Realty Rekey came out to rekey my doors and it was good. They were very friendly. The guy came in by himself, and he was very professional. He asked me what doors I wanted to change the locks on. I showed him all the locks and he was very quick and finished it all.

The freezer at the bottom and the top part of my GE refrigerator kept flipping temperature like the control would not stay or set. It was going from 30 degrees to 54. I’d open the fridge and everything in there was pretty warm as opposed to pretty cold and it was spoiling my food. I called the claim online and I had a response very quickly. I could see in the email who the claim was assigned to and At Bay picked up my first call and scheduled the service guy who came out on the day and within that time that was scheduled. It worked out really well. They had to order parts and the parts came in less than a week. Then they called and scheduled a time for the technician to come back in and install it.

There was a reset something button on my fridge and when I spoke with somebody at AHS, they told me to put in another claim. I should not have to put in two, three, or four separate claims for a fridge issue. It was the same fridge and the same front door. But I asked the technician when he was here, and he explained to me what I needed to do about that. But from an American Home Shield standpoint, they did not rub me the right way. But service-wise, that has improved.

When I submitted a claim to AHS regarding a plumbing issue, the initial call and repair went fine. However, when the technician put the pipe back together, it was extremely clogged. The same day he left, my kitchen sink was stopped up. So, I called them and he told me that someone would come out and snake the line. But nobody ever came to snake it. When he came, he also told me his machine was too big and that I needed to cut down a two-by-four in my basement where my tub for him to get in.

He was so nonchalant about repairing my pipe and just adamant that we had to cut down two-by-fours and that he didn't have the right machine. He came here without any tools, asking the situation, and then he went to go get a plunger. One was already in the kitchen sink in the floor and I told him I've already tried it for almost an hour and it was not working. I was frustrated 'cause my kitchen was hot, it had dishes everywhere and I just needed to clean my kitchen. Then he went down there, opened a release valve, let the water go all back in my basement on the crawl space again.

I called AHS, and it was, unfortunately, after Friday when he came. The office was closed and I left a voicemail. Someone returned our phone call, yesterday, a voicemail telling me to call them, said they would send somebody out that was a senior tech. But my husband and I just went ahead and ate the cost and got it fixed. American Home Shield covered and did what they were supposed to do. But I would feel a lot better if I had my choice to choose my mechanic and know a little bit of history about them.

I had issues with my garage door and my garage door opener. When I would go out of the garage, the door would open initially. But then, when I go to close it, it won't close. Likewise, when I come in, the door would open with the remote. But when I try to close it with the remote, it would not close either. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and went through their automated system. I selected the option to be updated via text message as to when to expect the techs. So, I got regular messages from their contractor Holliday Home Repair LLC.

Holliday provided good service. They kept me up-to-date with what time they would be at my location. When they got to my place, the techs both had masks on. They diagnosed the problem and got the repair done in 30 minutes. After they resolved the problem, they went through how to reset the door opener if ever the issue happens again. Since then, my garage door opener has been performing well. AHS's contractor was very helpful. Now, I can go out like I normally do, close the garage door remotely, and be on my way.

I called Home Shield a couple weeks ago. Last week, they sent someone out to fix my AC. They told me that the contractor will be out the following day between 10:00 and 12:30, and they did come out around 12:00 and fixed the AC. They were pretty pleasant. I was at work and my daughter told me that they were at the house. So, I drove over there, which took me three minutes. When I got there, they were on the roof of the house and they came down. I explained to them what was going on and they told me that they would take care of it. They went back up there and they fixed the problem, and it’s working perfectly. I even sent them back an email and let them know that it’s working great.

I told others I’ve been with Home Shield since I purchased my home, which is over 20 years ago. There have been ups and downs but overall, they’re pretty good. The last time I asked for my heater to be fixed, the contractor came to my house 20 times but still can’t fix it. I asked Home Shield to give me a different company but still sent me back the same company, and they fixed it. It would work for three days, and then it wouldn’t work. So, I just went along with it and used my fan, and I didn’t worry about it anymore. Now it’s summertime and the AC wasn’t working. So, Home Shield sent out Clovis and they are pretty good. They knew what they were doing. It didn’t take them too long to figure out the problem and it’s working perfect. So, I always recommend Home Shield to people and let them know I’ve been with them for so long. They have to be doing something good for me which made me stay with them for so long.

I went into the garage to put some trash in the large city trash bin and I heard this dripping sound. It had just rained very hard and there was a lot of thunder and lightning the night before. I thought I was having roof problems. I looked up to see if there was a leak coming from the ceiling in the garage and I didn't see anything. Then, I saw the water on the floor and then I saw the water in the pan. There was water dripping out the spout of the water heater. The water was still getting hot though. I called in the claim and the technician came out. The spout in front of the water heater, for some reason, had repositioned to the on position. He just turned the spout to the right and stopped the water. It was a very simple fix and they then closed out the ticket. Now, I'm not seeing any more water.

The tech was very professional and I didn't feel uncomfortable with him working on the water heater. I was laughing at my ignorance and he was maintaining being professional. He encouraged me, in the future, to check the spout first and turn it to the right. And then as far as the water in the pan, he told me to just get it out of it. If something else happens, then I don't have overflow and I don't have stagnant water sitting in my house.

It's very difficult to call American Home Shield though. I couldn't get through and I was on hold for 10 minutes. I didn't have an online account so I had to register. The only way I was able to book the claim was on the website. Then, immediately, it was a quick turnaround with booking a contractor and scheduling an appointment. It all happened less than 24 hours when I went online.

Typically, I would call and speak with someone. Out of the past four times I've called, I've been on a long hold about once or twice. But it was during the time of the summer and air conditioning units were going out. When there's a high demand, it's very difficult to reach a live person and calling online. Also, their number changed and I didn't know. I keep the number stored in my phone and when I dialed out for it, it said the number was no longer in service so I had to Google.

Also, American Home Shield changed their policy about air conditioning units. When I needed them, they had just changed the policy for about three to six months and I had just missed it. They restructured the policy where I no longer had coverage for my unit and I had to come out of pocket $6,500 for a complete overhaul of my AC and heating at home. The huge expenses were one of the primary reasons I became a customer with AHS. I've been a customer close to 10 years now. But when I needed them for a huge expense, they wouldn't cover it. That was very disappointing.

A technician came out and that was a contractor with AHS. He shared with me the prognostic that the system needs to be replaced and he quoted me the $6,500. I told him I was gonna reach out to somebody else. I got a second opinion. The techs came out and I pretended like it was a whole new experience. The tech said I needed a new system and it was gonna cost me $6,500. What was the blessing about it is it was in the early June timeframe when that happened and we hadn't hit the 90s as far as temperature yet. So we were okay.

But the temperature started getting in the upper 80s and then the house was hot by that time. I have a little Shih Tzu dog here and one day we were sitting down watching TV and she was panting. I could put a fan on me and I'd be okay but the body temperature of small dogs is a little different. I had her put up in a pet hotel. Then the techs came out and did the installation. I got a whole new unit. I understand that these things happen and the units are gonna go out. But it was really disappointing that AHS wasn't there after being a long-term customer.

Changing the policy and not covering the unit caused a huge out of pocket expense for me. From what I understood, there were some bad actors that were making fraudulent claims to get units. It caused a huge expense with AHS because they were replacing the units. That's $6,500 and if it happens more than a certain amount of time and you've got so many customers and you've so much profit and cash flow going on with your business, you're losing money. Because of those bad actors, hardworking people like me had to suffer and pay that out of pocket. After 10 years of paying $70 a month, I've actually paid for my air conditioning unit. Also, AHS has lost a lot of customers. People have switched over to other home warranties that offer better coverages. I just stayed because other companies might turn around and do the same thing. Also, I maintain the home warranty service because I still have other appliances.

I went on American Home Shield’s website to submit the claim. Even though I didn’t have my account number, the website made it easy to find that information for them to find me. I just navigated through very quickly. It was helpful and straightforward. I got a phone call quickly that day from the contractor and they gave me a time and slot when they were coming out. They fixed it as well as the issue I was having with the toilet. The guy was here for 20 minutes and then he was gone. Since then, everything has been working great.

We had a hiccup with our dishwasher though. The contractor did not do a good job with that but we didn’t have the chance to tell American Home Shield about that. Our dishwasher is almost falling out of the space that they put it in. It’s not anchored all the way down in there. So, when you pull the dishwasher door down, it tilts forward. They came out four months ago and we were annoyed at a certain point because we were going round and round about the dishwasher. They didn’t have the right parts and then they got the parts. Then, they didn’t have the right parts. At that time, it was more of a frustration and we never called them back, but we will.

I had some AC problems a couple of days before I had to call the fire department out because there was some smoke in the air. The fire department deactivated the AC system and they asked me to call my HVAC people. So, I called American Home Shield, and Everyday Heating and Cooling came out. They needed to get some parts. Also, there had to be an electrician called to replace a part that had been broken. So, the electric company came out, and then Everyday came back out, and they finalized the repair after the electrician left.

It was kind of a mess submitting the claim to AHS. When I submitted it, I did it just for the air conditioner replacement. The air conditioner people came out, and they told me everything that was wrong. But because I had to have that one part done by an electrician, then I had to call and request again. When AHS had the electrician come out, they had sent the follow-up appointment to a different company, not Everyday Heating and Cooling. It went to a different company who called me to schedule an appointment. I said, “No, I’m already working with another company that’s actually ordered the parts.”

So, then American Home Shield canceled that. Then they reassigned it back to Everyday. It ended up being two claims. It was a claim for Everyday and then there was also a claim processed on my account for the electrician. Everyday was awesome. They were really good to work with. They explained everything really well. AHS has been wonderful. I’ve had them for several years now, and I’m very happy.

We had a problem with one of AHS's contractors for our air conditioning issue. The tech came to our place and told us that our filters needed to be changed. He said they were dirty even though my husband changed them every three months. The tech said that during the summertime, we had to change the filters at least once a month. My husband did that and we were still having problems with our air conditioner. So, I put in a complaint and AHS said they were gonna send that person back out. But then he didn't come back. Home Shield should make sure to follow up if a customer has a complaint about something until the customer is satisfied. This year, we ended up redoing our air conditioning claim but the guy AHS sent this time did the job. The tech was very informative and explained what was going on. He told me that I had a floor leak in my unit and let me know what was gonna be AHS's part in the cost.

When I had a pipe leak, the contractor came out, found the leak, got a part to fix it, and it was fixed. I've also had other contractors and they have all resolved my issues. One time, we had an issue with our air upstairs and AHS would have someone come out and say it was fixed, but in the next couple of days, there was still an issue. The contractor had to kinda narrow down what the issue was. But eventually, everything was fixed.

J & K Plumbing came to a plumbing issue outside a wall. The leak is happening so they came. This is the second time because I reopened the ticket. This time, the technician is on time and it was quick response. It's a professional, permanent fix now. They did very clean work and I’m happy this time. But when it comes to the very first, the beginning when the ticket was opened, the technician overlooked and he said that it’s not their issue because it was happening from the other faucets that we attached, the splitters. There's some breakage inside the wall and it was leaking, too, and so was the hose.

When it comes to the rate, American Home Shield can come a little bit down, maybe 10% or 20%. The first year with AHS, it was very cheap. They reasonably put a comfortable cost for me but afterwards, it increased. Now, I’m paying almost 1,000 per year. It's a little pain. And for every call, I have the $100 less for every time they come for any fix, whether there is an issue or not, just to show up. It's a copay and paying-wise, it’s a little more expensive than I expected.

Most of the time, we called for plumbing and appliances in the last three years. Overall, it’s good because it is very tough to get plumbers from outside. Also, when it comes to these AHS advantages, we can call again. That’s the advantage, particularly in services like plumbing. Because sometimes, they may not able to fix it right away, and they have to come multiple times. In that way, AHS is very good when it comes to plumbing and appliances. Also, because of such monitoring systems like with AHS, vendors are also working with the proper attention because someone is looking at them. I had other issues in the past when they did not come back but with AHS, I am learning a lot. We have peace of mind.

Because of COVID, they announced that the response, even if I call on the phone, would take a while. That’s what I noticed and that means I have to wait on call a little bit more time. But in these scenarios, I’m really understanding that. And still during this time, AHS is able to engage someone and I’m appreciating the positive. As a common man, we are scared enough to go outside to meet any new people. We’re not letting anyone to come inside the home but still, they're coming to serve us. I'm thankful for all this for AHS as well as their vendors who are coming to show up and to do fixes for plumbing and other appliance issues. I want to call them as frontline fixers.

I looked in the oven and there were flames, so I turned it off. The coil at the bottom caught on fire and it ate the coil in half. It was late and when I did the claim online, I said that the oven wasn't working and then I put on there that it had caught on fire. Wright Appliance Service & Repair made an appointment, and they came out, just like it normally is. They were on time and courteous, but I must not have explained the issue right because the guy said he didn't know it was the coil. He didn't have a coil and he had to order one for my oven.

They didn't have it in stock, but when they got it in, they called. They then came back, put the new coil in and the unit has been performing great since. All in all, American Home Shield is worth the money. I love it. They've always been wonderful as well. They've been out several times and there has only been one time that they denied something, and that was it. They redid our microwave, and then, I even had them out a couple of years ago for my dryer. They're really good.

The AC not working and I started to file a claim online but there was more than one thing that I needed to tell American Home Shield. It was not just the AC. We thought that it was the ductwork too because we were not filling the air in two rooms. So I called and it was good dealing with their rep. This happened on a Friday night and they told me that I should hear from them on Saturday. Then they called us after 2:00 PM to tell us that they would send somebody out on Monday ‘cause they didn’t work on the weekend. It was Memorial Day that Monday too but they still came out.

Empire Heating And Cooling was good and their technician was very thorough. He explained everything to my husband. I heard him say something with an outlet, so he went out to buy that and then he came back and fixed it. He got it running. He did say that he was gonna finish doing everything and call AHS and get approval, and then he was gonna come back. He came back the next day. He had this gun thermometer that he was checking. He also said that it was about the shape of the room, the ceiling, and since we were at the room at the end, it was gonna be harder to fill the air. Everything has been going good. American Home Shield was a great service.

The contractors were really polite, considerate, and very good at what they do. They always kind of explained what the problem was and what they were gonna need to do to fix it. They were also very good at getting the parts and was efficient at it. We really enjoyed having them fix it. There was a couple of GFCI outlets in our house that were not receiving power. The Aim High Electric technician came out, took a look at a few things and ended up finding that one of the outlets in the master bathroom wasn’t connected properly. It was arching so that ended up being the issue. He had to replace the GFCI outlet in the half bath in the main area of the home because it was exerting too much power and ended up blowing itself out.

We've only been in the house for two months and that was the first claim that I submitted. It was very quick, easy and seamless. I submitted the claim for service online through the portal, and then within an hour, I got a text message saying that the service was accepted and there’d be an assigned contractor that would contact us within the next 24 hours. I had somebody from Aim High Electric contact me the next morning notifying that somebody would be out there between 10:00 and 2:00 that day. So it was a pretty quick and easy turnaround. The technician was very personable, very thorough as far as troubleshooting and figuring out what was the issue. So I didn’t have any issues at all as far as the whole service itself.

My refrigerator got replaced after AHS sent out tons of people to fix it. That was irritating but the warranty has been worth it. More recently, I had a stoppage in my shower sink. AHS's contractor came fast and they fixed it. When I bought my house three years ago, my realtor recommended AHS to me. I have gone back to her and told her to recommend AHS to all of her buyers.

The customer service after you finally get through is very good. But getting there is frustrating. It's totally unacceptable. I was on hold for almost an hour trying to get to a customer service rep through Home Shield. If you have to talk to somebody, it's at least an hour hold. But once you finally get ahold of somebody, their customer service people care. Sometimes, I get a little upset and excited and have a tendency to raise my voice though I don’t try to. But they're always very polite, very understanding and eager to help. But then, the claim goes to the lowest bidder, and sometimes, you get what you pay for.

My big complaint about Home Shield is they don’t give you an option to talk to somebody in person. You have to wait and wait and listen and listen. And finally, you hit zero enough times, then they put you through to a live person. But that takes about 30 minutes after you get on the phone. If you are submitting a claim for the first time, you call them, the computer takes over, you do all your stuff that you need to do with the claim, and you're done. You're in and out of Home Shield with your claim submitted in about 10 minutes.

My claim is ongoing. The lines of the AC were freezing up. They’ve replaced my AC unit, four years ago, and at least once a year, they have to come out and work on the stupid air conditioner, which to me is totally unacceptable. The year they installed it, they installed it and then it was two or three weeks later, I had to bring the tech back out and he had to recharge the whole line again. And then, the next spring, same deal. He had to come out and recharge the system. And then, last year, we called them back out. The company that did the work charged my wife $120 for coolant, but when he sent the report in, he said it was a bad fan. To my knowledge, they never changed the fan. All they did was add coolant to it because it was empty.

And then, this year, Jerry came back out and he said that there was nothing wrong with it. They put half a pound of coolant in and said, “Well, there's no leaks or nothing in here, so we don’t know what's going on,” and they left. They put the coolant in and my AC unit has been running now for three days because it's starting to get hot here and we don’t want the house to get hot because that just takes longer to cool off. I'm done giving up $75 to have somebody come out every time.

I've been with American Home Shield for 20 years. It's a movie, getting in touch with them, and getting a response. You have to wait almost an hour to get somebody to pick up the phone. And then, when you finally get somebody, it's like the purchaser department doesn't tie in their notes with the customer service. Right now, I've been hit with three different things going on. It's very frustrating for my tenants as well as myself. I hope they do a better job with picking their people and having them regulated as far as their cost to the consumer. That they forward these companies to us. But all they do is they cover what they cover, and then other out-of-pocket things could be escalated to where we don't even get a benefit from being with Home Shield.

The faucet in the bathroom was leaking on the hot side. I called to send the claim in. They were able to send someone out a week later. County Plumbing tried to get a replacement cartridge, but they couldn't find one for it so they ended up getting a faucet that kind of matched what I had. It took about two weeks for them to get the faucet, which was a while. I guess getting the coverage, County Plumbing had to call and get the approval from Home Shield. But I haven’t heard anything from the tenant. It looks like everything is working fine.

I’m dealing with Home Shield with my other two properties as well and it has been kind of weird. I have side properties with them, including my own home. I’m dealing with a company, Magic Air, in Las Vegas, that has to do with my air conditioner there. They came down the first time about a month ago, and they said it was a motor. And we paid money to get the motor fixed. And then, all of a sudden, like three weeks later, it was still hopefully covered. My property manager called it in. She’s the one that handles it. But I was noted about it because of the fact that they called me on Saturday the 30th or the 31st that the contractor came out again.

But this time, it was a crack in the fluid that contains the Freon. And I had to pay almost $400 for the Freon. I gave them my credit card, and did it. I thought, hopefully, that was it. And Home Shield only covers $10 for the Freon. I guess different companies could charge whatever they want for the Freon. Two days later, the AC didn’t work. And my tenant, Laurie, said, “The AC went on the blink again. Maybe you should call Better Business Bureau. Magic Air isn’t doing their job. Every time they come down, it’s something else.” Why they didn’t notice about the Freon before, and now, with the Freon, it’s not working.

I told her, “Well, let me call Magic Air now.” I told Magic Air I didn't know what was going on. But I told them the whole story. I said, "The tenant -- it's over 100 degrees in Las Vegas right now. Why you guys are not fixing it right? And why are you not noticing? You replaced a motor. Didn't you check to see if there was a leak somewhere that, just all of a sudden, happened? Or did you cause the leak?" This is a thing that we don't know about. And I stressed to Home Shield's customer service, "I hope you guys are doing due diligence." Because I pay a monthly service fee. I must pay probably over $5,000 for my monthly fee to Home Shield between the five properties. And I'm relying on American Home Shield to get me the right repair person because, in this day and age, people are doing shoddy things.

Magic Air came down yesterday. And supposedly, it was a loose wire, and they fixed it. My tenant called me and she went, "Well I think they did it this time. They said it was a loose wire." And I said, "Wait a second. They were there two days ago to fix the pipe, put the Freon in, charge me extra money. God knows how much they made from their Freon. And now, it was a loose wire?" The property is under Marie and my property management company handles the call in to Home Shield. So, I don't have to deal with that because they get a percentage of the rent. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is fixed, three times. And God knows I went out of pocket and I think Home Shield replaced the motor under the contract.

Now, I have another incident going on with another AC unit in another property in San Jose, California. I have MS Services. Back in January, the furnace went out. I had to get the repair. It cost me almost $3,000 out of pocket with the coverage of Home Shield supplying me with the furnace, and I had to battle with them for them to actually get the approval in. I must have made 10 calls. I said, "This property's been covered with American Home Shield for over 20 years. And for you to deny me this coverage on a furnace is crap because, during those 20 years, I could have bought probably 20 furnaces."

Super Air was the company that installed the furnace. And you have to pay almost $700 for permits, in San Jose, California. So, they didn't tell me. They supposedly tested everything, including the AC unit with the furnace. We had this service tax, we had all this hooked on. So, now, here it is in May. And guess what? The AC unit isn't working.

They charged me to come down in April for something that didn't work. And then, beginning of May, MS Services came down again, and again, the Freon issue. So, I feel this Freon crap is a way to get money from the consumer. I had to pay $616 for Freon because, in California, it's $100 per unit, and Home Shield only covers $10 of it.

So here we go again, it's a crack. We had to fill up the Freon, and I said, "Well, It's almost 98 degrees here in San Jose, California. I don't want my tenant..." They got two young children. It's an upstairs unit. Let me go ahead, and hopefully, that was it. Guess what? It broke down within five days. And now, they told me I need a new unit. Now, Home Shield will cover just the unit, but they won't cover the other $3,000 worth of fees. I know Home Shield can't screen everybody. But, this is a way of these companies, with this Freon, because they know Home Shield only covers $10 of it. So, here in Nevada, for the same amount of Freon for that unit, which was a bigger unit, I paid $400. In California, I paid over $216 more for the same R-22 Freon. It's frustrating.

What they're doing is covering bits and pieces. I must have spent over $100,000 through 20 years having these properties. Why they can't cover and regulate these businesses. The gal in customer service told me yesterday that these businesses could charge you whatever they want. It fluctuates. So, why can't Home Shield say, "Okay, this is the limit that you could charge this consumer for Freon. We could only cover $10 of it." But there should be a limit of like 50 bucks. Also, how come we don't get some kind of discount with the other products that they got to do to get the install? I don't know what the markup is, but it's getting to feel very shady.

I want to do good by my tenants, and I don't want them to suffer. But being a landlord and dealing with Home Shield, the reason I have them is because I feel that they're protecting me as a consumer by their technicians that they hire to do the job. But I had to wait for almost three weeks to get a faucet installed when they should have done it right from the get-go. When they saw I needed a faucet, call Home Shield and say, "Okay, I'm going to go to Home Depot, I'm going to pick up something and get the freaking job done."

We had a friend who used AHS and they recommended them. They’ve been good to us. We've lived here almost six years and it's been very beneficial to us. Now, being a widow, I intend to keep them because it's all the help I can get. When we had a problem with the pilot going out, I called American Home Shield and then the Watters' people called within the hour to make pointers to come out. The tech came out and checked to make sure that there weren’t any leaks and he said there wasn’t a problem with that machine, so he had to check further. But he even showed me how to relight the pilot and he was very helpful. I have another call in with American Home Shield for appliances that I did the same day but they haven’t gotten back to me. They haven’t been able to find a contractor to take care of me. But overall, we've been very happy with American Home Shield.

They would ask us so many questions, then went ahead and changed it. We’re really happy now. Everything’s perfect now. I’ve had Home Shield for a long time in many of my homes. We’re very happy with them. I love the coverage. And because I’ve been with them for so long, I already know what’s covered and what’s not covered, and how it works. So I know when to call and when not to call.

I'm writing here hoping for the failure of AHS. Worst experience ever. I bought the AHS-ShieldComplete warranty hoping for the protection of my major appliances. 4 weeks ago my water heater started leaking. I called, they sent a contractor called County Plumbing (**). 2 weeks later, County Plumbing came in a random time, without calling. Then they asked me to take photos of the water heater such that they can identify what needs to be fixed/replaced. Guess what? They said besides the replacement of the water heater, the water and gas pipe should be replaced to satisfy the city code. With a lot of uncovered items, I have to pay ~$800 myself. Adding this to the cost of AHS, I'm paying more for the water heater replacement if I just find a local plumber.

Then I called AHS. They suggested me to go for the cash-out option, which means they'll give me a check to cover the cost of finding a plumber myself. Then I quoted several plumbers. With the cash-out option, I still have to pay for ~$700. Then I tried to call AHS again to go-ahead with the cash-out. Guess what? This call is never answered. Wasted me ~10 hrs dealing with this stupid company.

Needed to get my A/C replaced. AHS would cover the part for repair (@$600) but not the freon to replace $1300. The company they supplied would replace the unit at a substantial cost $6000. I found a local company to replace the unit @$4000. I have been trying to get the $600 AHS would provide however the rep I talked to said, "I will call you back," but never did. 30 minute hold times ever time I call. Very frustrating.

I have filed a dispute with my bank on getting the credit card charge refunded. I feel this company is not a very friendly company to their customers. They send a service man out when requested for an additional service fee on top of your yearly cost. Once the service man states that the appliance needs to be replaced, it's over! The company never follows through, or answers your phone call and there isn't an option to communicate through chat. You better be prepared to wait at least a week if not weeks on weeks to get any sort of response. The customer service is nonexistent!! I have been without a working refrigerator for a week and no hope in sight for a status update. I've been on hold for hours on end, just so I can get hung up on.

A Supervisor in Training responded to my experience by calling me and offering an agreeable solution. She was professional and empathetic about my situation. Her name was Stacy. Grateful that AHS has people like her to diffuse situations with customers.

    Original Review: June 2, 2020

This is the third time a contractor sent by AHS has failed to fix my refrigerator. The final contractor said he could not repair and said he would recommend replacement. 4 days later I never received an email from AHS reflecting this communication. I called and was on hold for 56 minutes. When I finally spoke to Customer Service she said they would return service fee because per the contract if an item covered fails within 60 days of last repair. She also said that the contractor had reached out to them and she didn't know why I had not been contacted.

I was then connected to the Appliance Purchasing department to start the process of replacement. Once they finally picked up no communication from customer service had been recorded or shared and I had to start all over again. This person took my information and put me on hold for another 30 minutes. Once she returned she said they wouldn't be able to get me a replacement but I could pay out of pocket and be reimbursed (for well under the market value by the way). I expressed my concern that this amount offered ($1,077) would not be sufficient in order to purchase and install new refrigerator and dispose of old unit. Per the contract I should be reimbursed/replacement up to $3,000 per item/appliance under warranty!

I asked to speak to Supervisor - she said there are none available because of COVID 19 staffing levels. I asked to be sent an email which they did. The email states that AHS does not have access to a model that matches my current nonworking refrigerator (basically) which is probably a LIE! And I will have to purchase on my own but from a specific retail store www.ajmadison.com and after AHS receives the invoice and determines the work has been performed by the retail www.ajmadison.com my reimbursement will be processed within 14 days. I am so upset!!!!

I notified them that my home is now 90 degrees (8:30am) and that I have 5 children in the home and we cannot wait until tomorrow. I asked if they could put it in as an emergency call and the representative stated I need to call my home warranty back and have them change it to emergent.

We are a small property investment company and have recently purchased a small investment home. We had used AHS in the past and after we had prior issues about repairs, we had decided to not use them since a while. For this property, however, we purchased the "ShieldPlus" package and after about a month the property manager noticed that the A/C kept cutting out. He called AHS and they were reasonably quick to respond. They came out and charged onto of the $100 call-out fee (we knew about this when we purchased the plan) a $200 refrigerant surcharge, payable directly to the contractor, who did not accept credit card and insisted on a personal check from the property manager.

On prior contracts, there was no surcharge and it is hidden deep down in the fine print of the agreement, which only was made available two weeks after closing of the property and plan purchase. In the confirmation email they said that central HVAC systems are covered - there is no asterisk or footnote saying there are exceptions - same as here on consumeraffairs.com. They say that HVAC is covered - no exceptions. This is not only misleading, but my regular HVAC contractor would likely have made the repair for less money than the $300 I now paid through the plan.

Disappointing. Tried finding out through a new application for a nearby property on the same street we own - was called back within 30 seconds. Told the rep about the problems we had and she suggested to call customer service. I asked her to arrange them calling 3 hours ago and I have also called customer service and started to write after being on hold for 30 minutes. It appears they have two lines of business - collecting premiums and dishonest, misleading advertising.

AHS used a contractor that came to our house to repair the AC capacitor. Ever since the contractor came through unit didn’t seem right. I requested a 2nd service call and AHS sent out the same company however this time we were told the cost of the repair was MAJOR and that replacing the Freon would cost us a range of $1000-$1500. He wanted us to purchase a new unit. Told us that he gave us 8 lbs of Freon (discontinued R-22) to “keep us cool” until the new unit was installed. That evening (30 mins after he left) I notified him that I wanted to wait for an install until AHS has responded. The contractor (our neighbor) became rude and threatened to return to my home to remove the $800 of Freon. I told him to remove it. He said it would be no good to reuse. I didn’t care if you removed the Freon bc we never asked for it.

A few days later, we discovered that he had lied about the type of Freon used - have on video. It was not r-22. I was so angry because he ranted on for 3 days and tried to force us to purchase an A/C based on free r-22. We decided to postpone the install until AHS spoke with us. I found out that the contractor had planned to keep the replacement part and money for the repair and planned to charge me full price of the unit. I have called numerous companies for quotes. The owner of the company told me that he self reported what his employee did wrong and recused himself from the job. I have attempted to speak with AHS for 3 weeks to no avail and have spent more that 15 hours on the phone. No one has returned a solitary phone call. Very substandard business practice.

    Reviewed June 2, 2020

Overall, American Home Shield gets the ball rolling in the right direction. My issue however is with what their contracting company does with my claim after that. One time, I had an issue with our showers and we had a plumbing company come out. Two techs replaced the Mixet shower faucets I have and they left knowing that those were unadjustable in terms of temperature. They were very difficult to turn. I asked how we could fix the situation and the techs said that the only thing that could be done is change our valve. To do that, they would have to break through my walls and they would not be responsible for repairing my walls after they did that. They told me that it would cost $500 for each of the showers.

I told them that I would keep their quote in mind and got some more quotes from other plumbers. I found that the prices were going up from their quote so I called AHS one more time. I told them that I wanna have my issue fixed but they should assign me a different plumbing company. They did that and the next guys who came out got my issues fixed. The plumber who came told me that I had some corrosion and that they would get it out. They did that and now my shower handles are perfect. I’m very happy with I’ve got now, and American Home Shield was the company that made sure that I had a second opinion company come out. However, I was unhappy with the first plumber company who came because I didn't feel like they gave two rips about my problem with the shower handles.

More recently, I had several different service calls for my pool heater that was never working. The previous owner of my home never used the heater and the gentleman who came for my first repair appointment said that there was so much old stuff at my place. He got new parts from his truck and put them in. However, he still couldn't get my heater to operate. I then put in another request and the same tech came out again. This time, he was operating with his phone and trying to get my heater to work. He had a grump attitude and told me that we hoped we would fix it that time. He still couldn't do it. He told me that he didn't know what the problem was. He said that he already changed a lot of wiring and put it some new parts. So, the heater should be working but it was not. He left and I put in a third request to AHS.

A different gentleman came out and he told me that it looked like my heater was set for a timer. He asked me if there was one and I told him I haven't really explored too much and that there was a single switch to turn on the pool system. He unhooked two wires and my heater started up perfectly. That told me that the previous tech was on the phone with him the whole time during the previous repair as he was the pool heater guru.

That week, we had some friends over and we were enjoying the pool and the heater. All of a sudden the whole system shut off. I jumped out and turned off the heater because I knew it could overheat if it didn't have time to cool down while there was circulation. The motor causing circulation had just stopped. I put in a request through American Home Shield again for my pump and they told me that it was a different issue and that they would have to charge me the $75 deductible again. I asked that they not do that until their tech determines that the problem is not part of the same system.

I called Golden West Pool which was the company coming out to fix my issue. I called before they opened so I left a message saying that if anybody from their company knows how to look for a certain switch or fuse for my model of pool pump, maybe that person could call me and talk me through the fix. I told them that maybe I could save them the trip. When the guy whom I hired separately to maintain my pool came out, he found a breaker that was completely separate from the rest of the breakers at our house. He said my breaker tripped and showed me that my pool pump was already running.

I called the pool place again and told them that I had an appointment set for the pump but then the pump was not the problem. I told them that my heater was still not working and asked if I could keep my appointment. The rep there said that my appointment is still open even though I cancelled for the motor issue. I then called American Home Shield and told them that I've set up an appointment with the contractor for my heater which was not working again. I called the pool place again to double check that my appointment was set. The rep said I was all set.

I took the day off on the day of the appointment and nobody showed up. By late afternoon, I called Golden West and asked them was was going on. They told me that they cancelled my service appointment because the technician got a message saying that if he wanted to call me and talk me through my issue, it would be okay. I told the rep that message was left before they opened and it was for my pool motor. I told the rep that I still had an appointment set up for the heater. I also said that they didn't have the right to cancel my order and not tell me.

I explained that I still had a pool heater that was not working and that they were responsible for my issue. The rep told me that the soonest they could get a tech out would be a week later. I waited another week and their tech came out. It turned out that the first guy who did the wires put a wire in a place where if I close a little access panel, it would pinch the wire off. That wire slowly deteriorated over a couple of weeks until the heater stopped working. The tech who came fixed all the wires and put everything in a safe place. He showed me exactly what to do if I have a problem with my heater igniting.

Now, my heater works well but it took several attempts to get it done. It was like pulling teeth. I also had an issue with the contractor deciding to cancel my appointment and not tell me at all. If the tech took the message I left seriously, then he would have called me and tried to talk me through the fix. But then, he didn't even do that. They dropped the ball big time.

The technician from Cote's Mechanical for our AC issue was really good and we like him. They have been out twice. We also had somebody out for a pool issue yesterday. The pool guy was not as friendly as the AC guy but he showed me some stuff about the controls of the pool that I wasn't aware of.

I submitted claims to AHS online twice for my AC and both times were pretty easy. Their tech from Handy Bee Repair came out and did a great job. He tested the line as well as the thermostat. He figured out that I had a leak and put some kind of sealant in it. So far, my AC has been running great.

I usually call my claims in and it has been pretty good. I haven’t even noticed that the calls were that long. When you talk about being long, I think about Medicare and all those others and they were nothing like that. When my air conditioner quit working, we had the century mark heat that weekend so we were really suffering. We had ceiling fans, but it was hard. The tech from South Placer came out and knew exactly what happened and everything, and he fixed the AC. He put another part in to help. He went up in the attic, fixed all of that. He was very good and very thorough. Home Shield has been really good.

I went online and logged the problem I was having with my dishwasher. I was able to navigate Home Shield's website without issues. Affordable did the dishwasher and I was happy with them. The only problem was that they didn't diagnose the whole problem the first time. They partially fixed it and then it ended up that another part was malfunctioning. But they were professional. Both times they came out, they called 10 to 30 minutes before they arrived and they arrived within the timeframe. And when they were here, they wore masks. I was happy with how they conducted themselves.

But things have been terrible because after they came back the second time, the list of parts was too great. And now they're saying they're going to replace our dishwasher. They gave us a list of dishwashers that are substandard compared to what I have and that's not replacing it for like value. What we have isn't extremely high-end. It was in the middle of the road. I checked the value today and we can't buy a new one, but we can buy a refurbished one for $500. And they want us to take a cheap GE one and it's not even close. I can get a more expensive one, but then I gotta partially pay for it.

The first time I ever had to do a claim was for my AC that wasn't cooling. It was easy, but we were originally sent a company that did not service the kind of unit we had, even though when we filled out the form, we said what was wrong. When filing the claim, I had a 30-minute wait time, which I understand. With the times the way that they are, that's kinda par for the course. I got disconnected and I wasn't able to get anybody. I had to call back again and wound up waiting for an hour. Once I was able to get on the phone with somebody, she helped me through everything. The contractor added Freon. I'd like to see some kind of chat option on the website. It would be a decent thing to have because calling takes so long. I was also kept being told to go online to submit a claim, but when I submitted a claim, it kept sending the wrong company out. I didn't have a choice but to call.

Twilight Electric was awesome. They came out to fix the garage door that I had called about previously. They had to come back because it still wasn't working, but they're excellent. Calling American Home Shield was a nightmare, though. The rep kept telling me she was gonna charge me again and I said it wasn't fixed the first time. I hope they didn't charge me the second time. I couldn't get anybody to listen to me and I have to sit and wait online for hold forever and ever. I can't even recommend them now until I call them again the second time, which I'm going to. I have something else wrong at another property that I have them on.

When my hot water heater went out, Marathon Services came out and it went great. The tech was quick and able to quickly diagnose the problem. They weren't even the first contractor that Home Shield assigned to me. The first contractor claimed to have called me but did not. They didn't even leave a message, but that's what they said. And I figured that they would not do it because it was a holiday weekend. But they got to kick it in enough time. Marathon was the second contractor that was assigned to me by Home Shield. They called me last Monday, which was a holiday, to let me know that they would be out on Tuesday. They're very professional, didn't play any games, and got everything done quickly, courteous, on time. It's a good experience with him.

Home Shield might want to check the other company that they sent me because, that's an indirect reflection of them when you get contractors that don't do right. I told them they can't get on Better Business Bureau, Angie's List, HomeAdvisor. They have 1.5 stars in all of the comments, which I just happened to read after because I was so flabbergasted. And I had a conversation with their person that pretty much says, "Too bad, too sad. Call them and ask for somebody else." But in most of their ratings, they were known to be no call, no show. Those are people that have had dealt with Assurance Plumbing through the home warranty. People also say they claimed to have called, but they never got a call from them. So far, it's been great, but that might be something that is looked into when working with contractors, that they check their ratings out and see what's going on.

We’ve been a customer for around four years but we used them just recently. I reported that the water heater wouldn’t light. The technician came out as scheduled. They contacted me quite quickly after the claim was submitted on the web and made arrangements to come out the following day between 10:00 and 12:00. And they were there right at 11:00. When the plumber got into the job and started looking, he found numerous problems with the water heater itself. He ended up replacing the water heater and the supply valve. I’m very satisfied. Everything flowed smoothly, from the claim process to discussing it with another customer service rep to having the plumber do the job. Everything was great.

Service Connection came out and inspected the dishwasher. They concluded that I needed a new board. However, I got a call that said someone was coming out for a second opinion. I was kinda confused because AHS already had sent a company out and they haven't even contacted me. The second-opinion company contacted me and told me that they were coming out, and they couldn’t even come out until June 9th. The first service company came out on May 27th and it took them about a week to come out. Waiting two weeks to get service shouldn’t happen for something so simple. Also, AHS's prices go up every year. Whether you put a claim in throughout the year or not, they still increase your rate. However, their contractors have been professional.

West Coast Chief Repair came to check up the AC unit before I turned it on for the summer and they were fine. They’ve been here before too. At another time, I had an issue and Home Shield solved it. I thought it was my washing machine, and it was the plumber. They sent out a plumber, and then they charged me, and they said they wouldn’t. They corrected it and it was good.

Stainy's was pretty good. It just took them a longer time to order the part. It was a very specific part that they needed. But once they had the part in, they called right away and got it done. They came out quickly. They were professional. I like that Home Shield connects us with those folks that do the work and the benefit of paying a monthly payment and having that assurance that when something happens, you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to fix those things. That’s the biggest benefit for me.

However, when I decided to create another account, it forced me to use another email and that was almost problematic. Fortunately for me, I have two emails that I always use. But I found that a little cumbersome because I just needed to add a property to my existing account. I was able to figure it out, but initially, it threw me off just because they mixed in my email. I do have another email and I have Home Shield contract service agreement with them on that account. But other than that, I’ve already recommended Home Shield to just about everyone I talked to.

The contractor that AHS sent for our AC was very polite and very thorough. He got the unit running, but it shut back off yesterday. But everybody seems very thorough and honest at AHS. When I questioned what could be covered, there was no beating around the bush. The cost was a little more expensive. But in regards to what the coverage was, it seems like a good deal.

I call AHS whenever I file a claim. I like talking to a person and it's easy. Also, the contractors they've sent have all been professional and seem to know what they're doing. They look at it and then they fix the problem. Recently, water was dripping from the freezer to the refrigerator and also, the ice maker was not working. The tech came out and had to order a new ice maker. Then he had to clean out a line where there was water that had backed up into the tubing rather than going into the refrigerator for the circulation. He has gotten it fixed and everything seem to be working okay as of now.
