I filed a claim for my Maytag dryer which is less than two years old. It's under a factory warranty and American Home Shield is gonna submit what they've got. I’ve been without a unit since Christmas. Other than that, there was a smell coming from our furnace and so phoned in a claim and a guy from Tenney's Heating and Cooling Services came out and it turned out that the smell wasn't coming from the furnace. But he went ahead and replaced parts he didn't replace the last time because he did not have them with him, and he did a fantastic job.

There was no power on the fixtures and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online. The contractor, Richard Donaldson Electric, came out in 24 to 48 hours and our interaction was great when they arrived. The contractor was very knowledgeable, informative, and professional. I had a great experience with Richard Donaldson, but it was not so good with the other American Home Shield agencies. I had a negative experience with a claim. The company that AHS provided was very unprofessional and rude. It seemed more like they were just here to get a quick service fee and just leave. We went for about three days without water. Finding another agent out of American Home Shield’s network was a hassle and I also had to pay out of the pocket. It was a horrible experience.
Good afternoon Edgar,
Thank you for the feedback regarding your experience. I hate to hear that it was less than satisfactory. I would be glad to speak with you regarding the repairs that were completed.

I called American Home Shield's office to submit a claim when my heating wasn’t working recently and they were quick about it. They contacted the contractor, Carolina Air, on that day. The contractor checked out the heating for me and did a great job. So, I requested them to come a second time. They came back and checked the heating again for me, and there was just something that I wasn’t doing. My heating is fixed now and it's working great. Everything has been good and I was really satisfied with AHS.

The water was not working on the refrigerator and I submitted a claim for it online with American Home Shield. Someone then reached out pretty quickly within a day. The contractor who came was very helpful and he educated me on a lot of things. It was a frozen waterline, so they weren't allowed to fix it. But, he told me how to fix it and it has been fixed now.

In the past year, American Home Shield has improved on their response time when I submit a claim. I usually receive a call as soon as I submit an online request. When I submitted the claim for my leaking hot water heater, American Home Shield had somebody assigned, and the contractor called me the same day that I did the online service request. The water heater has to be replaced, and there was some concerns about American Home Shield not replacing our current 65-gallon tank. They would only replace it with a 50-gallon because the 65-gallon is considered commercial nowadays. So, that had my husband on the phone with American Home Shield for quite a while, trying to understand that and the different options and the cash out. That made me uncomfortable.
When the technician came to install the 50-gallon, I expressed to him my concerns about whether the 50-gallon was gonna be adequate or not. He mentioned that we could do an upgrade, and we were going to do the upgrade with the hybrid tank and pay the difference. But it wasn't exactly working out the way that he described. Instead, his office later called and said we had to pay the full amount and then wait for the cash out from American Home Shield. I wound up trying to get in touch with American Home Shield through the regular number to express my concerns again about the 50-gallon tank, and how the upgrade was going to work if I went that way. The rep was going to check with authorization and get back to me, but she never did.
I called American Home Shield again, and the person I talked to the second time said that she didn't go with authorization. Instead, she gave me the direct line to authorization, and that was the best thing because both women that I spoke with from the authorization department were wonderful. They cleared up something that I wished the tech had mentioned to me when I raised my concerns about the inadequacy of the 50-gallon tank. They said that American Home Shield always has this mixing valve installed with the tank installation, and they explained how that makes the 50-gallon tank serve as an 80-gallon, in a way.
With that information, I called the tech back today to say that we're fine with the 50-gallon. They said that we had to pay an extra $175. That's when I made my second call to American Home Shield's authorization department. I asked them to work with the technician because I shouldn't have to pay $175 because the technician should have told me about the mixing valve. The rep agreed and she worked it out, and I don't have to pay. The technician should be installing the tank tomorrow, with no additional out of pocket beyond the $200 I had to pay for the modification. It was good to have that direct contact with the authorization department. It made a big difference. I always tell people about the value of American Home Shield. It doesn't always work out smoothly, but in the long run, it's really convenient for us as homeowners to deal with the unexpected.

Our washing machine made a lot of noise like it’s about ready to jump out the door so I called American Home Shield to file a claim. I realized that our washer was 16 years old and I wanted to know if they would repair it or replace it. I was trying to get that out from AHS and the guy was really rude and nasty. From the time I've been been with AHS, that was the first time we ever dealt with something like that. Nevertheless, my interaction with the contractor was great. Since our washer was 16 1/2 years old, all he could do was look at it. He aid that he would go back to his shop to look for the part for the washing machine. It took almost a week before we got a call saying that they got the part.
Two guys were sent which made sense because they would have to take the washer out into the garage and break it all down just to put the motor in. Once they got finished with that, they said it was all done and that it should be good to go. After that day, we didn’t use it because we had to go through a laundromat to wash our clothes. We didn’t expect to use it until the next two or three days. When we got ready to use it, we noticed that it started out okay but going into the spin mode, it went back to where it left off, like it was about ready to jump out the door. It was so loud and I ended up having to call the Appliance Network back to let them know what we were dealing with.
The person that does all the service call from the contractor said that before they can come out, we needed to give AHS a call for a follow-up, and we did. The gentleman came out later that afternoon to take a look at it. When he looked at it, my wife told him that we were picking up some black stuff that was developing in the washing tub. So, they had to pull the tub out and noticed that there was a bolt that wasn’t holding the part that holds the actuator in place, that was why it was rumbling like that.
After looking at everything, the tech felt that the bolt kept coming loose regardless if he was able to tighten it. He said, in his professional opinion, it will keep coming loose because it was doing that from the very beginning, even when they were putting new parts on there, which he didn’t understand either. So, instead, they were gonna replace two things, something with the bolt and the new tub, and he hoped that would solve that. Coming from the Christmas holiday and the New Years holiday, we’ve been waiting for it for almost two weeks. Nonetheless, he called half an hour ago and set up an appointment to come out and replace the part for tomorrow, within 11:00 to 2:00.

I had a water leak and it must have been running for a while. My water bill said I used 4,500 more gallons of water last month. I happened to hear it one morning. I kept hearing it and I went underneath the house. I walked toward the center of the house and found where all the water went to. It must’ve drained off another way where I couldn’t see it. I filed the claim with AHS online and navigating through the website was easy. The contractors came out faster than I thought. My step-son showed them what was going on, but they said they had to call back and do another report instead of fixing it right away.
The contractor came out last week and fixed the hot water line. It was underneath the floor, close to the bathroom. They had to replace 30 feet of galvanized pipe. When they turned the water back on, a lot of stuff, like gunk and dirt, came out of the sink and the faucet just quit. They wouldn’t fix it right then though. I called AHS and talked to somebody about having to come back out again. When the contractor discovered that the sink didn’t work, they should’ve called and got AHS to okay. They might have been able to put some air to it and blow it out or stop the faucet itself. Still, overall, the contractor and AHS did well.

I have been very happy with American Home Shield's service every time I've used them. Last week, our refrigerator was going out. AHS sent a repairman out that same week. He looked at the refrigerator and he provided a very nice service. But AHS can’t get parts for the refrigerator. We’re supposed to purchase a new one, send AHS the bill, and they’ll reimburse us. But we ran into the problem. The refrigerator we wanted to pick was too big for the cabinets so we have to go another route. We used AHS twice last year. After we sent them the receipt, they sent us a check within 10 days. I would recommend AHS to other people.

The toilet wasn’t flushing properly. I called in to file a claim with American Home Shield and my interaction with their rep was good. They assigned a plumber to come out and when he did, he checked to make sure there was no blockage or anything in the toilet. It turned out that the toilet itself had a low flow problem. He tried fixing it with the internal stuff but that didn’t work, so they replaced the toilet and now it works fine. He was very professional and very good. American Home Shield is worth every penny.
I'm happy to hear that we were able to resolve your plumbing issue Charles. We look forward to handling your future warranty needs. Have an amazing weekend.

My wife and my daughter, and my brother-in-law when he came to visit, were getting cold symptoms, more of a cough, when the air kicked on. We put up with it for a little while and then, somebody said that we should check for mold. I went out and pulled the panel off and everything was covered with mold, dirt and corrosion. That was when we researched our American Home Shield policy since we needed to have somebody come because it's outside my area of expertise.
I called AHS and they had Integrity contact me. The contractor came out, did their inspection and said that it needed to be cleaned and that the coil needed to be pulled out. He gave an estimate to have it done. Apparently, it was not covered. It's gonna come out of my pocket so I might as well see how cheap I can get it done. We called another company to come out and look at it but they were more expensive than Integrity. So, we just called Integrity to do it and they're coming tomorrow morning.
We just moved into the house in July and we knew that the unit was old so it's very valuable to have a home warranty and that gave us an extra peace of mind. The seller purchased it the first year and my wife and I have already talked about extending that when the policy comes due in June. It's an extra safety net in case something goes wrong. At the very least, people should insists on a home warranty for the first year that they're in the house.

We heard the motor of our air conditioner running, but it wasn't cold here and I didn't hear the unit outside going and humming away. My wife submitted a claim with American Home Shield and they had the contractor, Perry Mechanical LLC, call us. The contractor called to schedule our service appointment. They wanted to come that day, but I was with family somewhere, so they had to push it off till later. The tech came out here the other day and he was very friendly. He got right in, did what he had to do, took care of the AC unit, and got it up and going.
Right now, our AC seems to be working. We don't have hot days anymore like we had before and the house seems cooler. The AC unit is kicking on and off, but that's the way it's supposed to operate. Our AHS warranty is unbelievable. I'm glad to have it because I knew nothing about the house when we bought it. I swear by the service of AHS, which has been very good. Definitely, I would highly recommend them.

I reported a toilet leakage in my rental property on Nov 12, and was told on Nov 21 that the tank crack was not normal wear and tear, but “excessive force” which meant the tank was pushed against the wall (based on AHS staff's explanation). Therefore AHS would not cover the replacement. I requested a written report with these words -- “excessive force” so I could ask my renter to pay it.
I made numerous calls to AHS and the subcontract RAPP to obtain the report, and was promised an e-mail from AHS including those details, but till today, (Dec 31) I have never received it. The only invoice I got from RAPP didn’t even mention those words. Of course, my renter refused to pay it. I paid home insurance premium, and paid additional $80 for each service call. I don't think I have asked too much to get an accurate and detailed report so I can make my renter pay. Not only I was told to pay another $425 to replace the toilet, I have spent so much time and energy on this issue (I often held 45 minutes before I could talk to any staff at AHS). As a customer, I think this is totally unacceptable. I talked to them about cancel the contract and go somewhere else, but was told I had to pay back any repair costs occurred since the contract started. I felt trapped.

September 1, 2018 we submitted a claim for our cook top gas range. I was impressed on how fast they sent someone to look into the matter, and that is that one star. Two contractors were sent to check. Both later assessed that our appliance is unrepairable, because of discontinued parts, and we would rather need an appliance replacement.
It's already New Year's Eve of 2019 and the matter remains unresolved. Calls after calls for three painful months, fearing that the gas range might eventually cause us bigger trouble, but all we get are promises that they will contact us to update on the action and progress of the claim but NOOO calls, neither emails was received. Each time we initiated the call, only to get the parting words of, "We are working on it, we will call you." December 26, the person I spoke to said she will forward the matter to the Appliance Purchasing Department, and instructed me to call after 2 days. Weekend passed, and so I called today, Dec 31, Appliance Purchasing Department told me that it was only last December 26 when they received the request. Whaaat???
After all these time wasted calling, waiting on hold, and expected that something is being done, it was "JUST" submitted??? And wait! There's more... Appliance Purchasing Department said that they still have yet to see and look if indeed there is really no parts available before they can get back to me "again". $973+ I paid for 2 years consecutive and this is the first time I filed a claim. I could have just used it to buy me my own brand new appliance. Sadly, I've been a willing victim, as I though they can provide me with peace of mind. That's what I thought!
I now realized I bought me instead an added very expensive stress for $973+, to deal with this so called "peace of mind" provider. Again, such a very expensive stress. I am hoping that AHS will improve on their process improvement. Because, clearly, the experience in the process we are going through right now can only mean NO MORE RENEWAL, and VERY BAD FEEDBACK. I'll see if they can turn around this review. Up to the end, I will try to keep my head leveled and my view fair. For now, I am speaking as to what I have in front of me and that is VERY BAD COMMUNICATION and RESOLUTION PROCESS from AHS.
Hello, Remy. I apologize that you have had to endure the past 4 months without a working cooktop, only to be given incorrect information when you called in for assistance. A member of our Social Media team will contact you directly to assist you in reaching a resolution.

I have been a homeowner for 20+ years, & I have never had such an awful experience with a service provider. I scheduled a repair through AHS Warranty Company for my washing machine. The washer was working, however making a noise that didn't sound right. The repair person came out, & was unable to diagnose the specific problem. He ordered 2 parts for the washer, hoping that one of them would fix the issue. I scheduled a second repair appointment once the parts arrived at my home. He arrived on time for the 8:30 AM appointment, however said he did not have the correct tools to remove a bottom part of my washer. He left my home, and said he would be back later with the correct tool.
He kept calling and texting with excuses of a delay. He arrived back at my home @ 7:15 PM, and by 8:40 PM it was evident that he couldn't fix my washer. He was pounding on the appliance with a mallet, and ended it up causing further damage to my washer. It was then completely unusable for 2 weeks. As a result, I had to purchase a new washer at the cost of $625. AHS offered me $115 in lieu of the repair. I declined the offer, and canceled my contract with them immediately. I would NEVER deal with them or any home warranty company again!
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

Our dishwasher broke and it took over a month to get it replaced. AHS was little to no help. With very long wait times to talk to someone (I'm talking an hour and a half!) to working with not so great vendors. It's been a horrible experience. Then a few months later our water heater broke in the dead of winter. It is also right around the holidays so on a Sunday at 9am when my heater broke and water got water everywhere, they said a plumber didn't have to come out until Thursday, due to the holiday! Keep in mind I also have a 2 year old at home who doesn't understand a cold shower or cold bath. Throughout the day I called AHS, waiting on hold for approximately 45 minutes each time.
After 7 hours of zero help on their end, the fourth person I spoke with finally let me go to an outside plumber. I called friends and neighbors for a recommendation, got a plumber to get me an estimate and I've now been on hold for exactly 1 hour and 36 minutes to get "approval" for the cost of an outside plumber and it's almost 7pm at night. I'm still on hold... Beyond maddening when my water heater is still leaking water. This company is one of the worst I've ever worked with. I'm in property management so I deal with these issues on a daily basis. I will never give AHS my money, ever again!
Good morning Alexis,

The very first day we were covered, our gas furnace decided not to work appropriately. So I gave American Home Shield a call, and a guy came out and replaced the fan motor. Submitting the claim online was very easy, and it took less than a day for Sierra Mechanical to get in contact with me. The first time the repair was scheduled, our power went out along with about a hundred other homes in the neighborhood. And five minutes later, the man pulled up in the driveway. So I really felt bad for him. Since he wasn’t able to diagnose, I opened a second ticket and then called Sierra the next day. They sent someone right out to take care of it. Since then, everything is perfect. If the service that we received from Sierra Mechanical is any indication as to how AHS handles their providers and the way their service is configured, then they have an excellent company.

The people at American Home Shield and the service have been great. We had three separate problems at our house and the two repairs we've had done so far had been really good. The guys that came out were from Blue Star Plumbing and they were very nice, professional and fantastic. They fixed everything and they did a good job for us. While fixing the garbage disposal, however, they discovered another leak on the wall leading to the outside of the house. I had some mold on the wall that I couldn't see under the sink, and they helped me out. They could have just repaired our disposal and left and never told us about the other leak. We wouldn't have known about it, and yet Blue Star did us a favor.
We had to call American Home Shield again today because we have something clogged. We've had some problems with our laundry room and all these pipes are somewhat connected. The Blue Star people have been the only ones that I've met but now we got assigned with Bubba's Plumbing for this other job. I spoke to a contractor and they set up an appointment for Monday. Usually, my wife does all the appointment setting and then I'm there at the house when the contractors show up to work. We have to report each job to American Home Shield separately and we've evidently had to email each time.
You never know how people are gonna act, but the people that had come out from American Home Shield had been fantastic. The plumbers that worked in my house were great. So far, everybody that has come out and American Home Shield have been very prompt. If we needed something, the contractors came at a certain time and got the work done, and they cleaned up. It was the day before New Year’s Eve and because we’re elderly, the company said that they would be able to get us in before the end of the day, and I was grateful for that. I was so happy. He was also nice and neat. After the repair, everything has been working perfectly.
I have one problem that has been going on for about a year now. I had another insurance policy to take care of a water heater. When I had the water heater problem, this other insurance company told me that if I could show proof that American Home Shield covered a water heater problem, they would refund me $200. I've tried calling American Home Shield for about 10 times telling them that I need a proof that I had coverage with them for water heater problem. The reps said they would email or text me the information, then I could submit it to the other insurance company. But I never got any help and I called everyone I possibly could.
Anyone that I got a hold of said that they would handle it and they would show that I've been a member of American Home Shield for many years and that my water heater was covered. Ultimately, the water heater was fixed by American Home Shield. But because I had the other insurance coverage, I would still like to get that $200 back.

AHS should stop using overseas call centers. Their calling service sucks. And it made me consider to go to another company. When they put on the new bottom, then the top blew. Those were in stock but AHS could've just put a new one in and we could've been up and running in three or four days. We had our pool turned green and it was a big mess, but they didn't care because they don't have to cover any of that. We had to cover the cost of getting the pool back running.
Recently, I filed a claim for a heater in the house. Their claim process was easy and the contractor that came out was great. We are still having an issue though. He reset a switch and he thought that would work, and it didn't. He ordered a new switch and that still didn't work. The heater kept switching off. He was out here Friday with the new switch that did not work, so he is turning in a request to replace the heater unit. It has been the coldest weak of the year and so far, I'm just waiting for AHS to give the contractor a go-ahead. My warranty ran out in December 31st and I'm just waiting to see how they would treat us on the heater before I renew it again.

The last experience I had with American Home Shield worked out well. Since I can never remember their phone number, I filed a claim online as it is easy to log into my account and do it. Flash Garage Door Service called me back within the hour. The contractor came out to the door within 4 hours and introduced himself then I showed him what the issue was. He knew immediately to troubleshoot just by looking at it that it was a spring that needed to be replaced. He had one on his vehicle so went out and then he said that he would have it done within 30 minutes. He had it done in about 20 minutes and so the garage door was repaired.

There was a stoppage in our waterline. The sink at the master bathroom wouldn’t drain and I wasn't able to use the sink. I submitted the claim online and it’s been good. We were having weather issues and Sparks Plumbing & Heating Services took a little longer than usual to come. I’ve used them before, and they were very prompt. There was one guy in particular that I worked with and he was marvelous. He helped me out all the time.
At the same time that I entered the order for Sparks Plumbing and they responded immediately, I also entered a request for electrical repair. And that has never been addressed. So it’s still out there, and I just didn’t bother with it ‘cause it was the holidays. They called me once, and I called them back, and they never called me back. They may have called me once again, and I called them back. And they just never followed through. So whoever is doing the electrical work out here is not somebody that one wants having to work for their company. I don’t think American Home Shield wants that kind of reputation. But the contractors for the sink were very professional and courteous. They cleared the problem up. It took some plumbing expertise to figure it out, but they got it figured. They had to open up a line that couldn’t be reached by a snake. It was under the crawlspace.

We had a leak in a pipe and American Home Shield assigned the repair job to a contractor. This company said they would get the problem checked out, but for three days they didn't. Then AHS had to reassign the job, but nobody still came. Beck Plumbing didn't come out and neither did the contractor before them, so we went without water for a week. But that was the only bad experience I've ever had with AHS. They kept trying hard to get contractors. It was over the holiday weekend, just before Christmas. Then we had to put the repair on hold and they had to come out after Christmas.
Finally, a contractor came and found out that the problem was due to a foundation leak. But we had to get a separate contract for that since that is not covered by the AHS warranty that we had. The contractor was amazing. The tech was excellent and wonderful, and told us what the challenge was and what to look for. We have used AHS for 10 years now and with every service call that we've had to put in, they've been responsive and everything has gotten repaired. I have recommended them to anybody else I know.

I had plumbing issues and called American Home Shield. The plumbing company, Beck Plumbing, called me and I told them everything that needed to get fixed. They sent a plumber out but he didn’t fix three things. He said that my dishwasher leaked but they didn’t do that and that I had to call an appliance company. He was also supposed to clean out two bathtub drains, but he only cleaned out one of them. He said the one in my master bath was fine, however, it was not draining so it was not fine. It had some kind of stoppage. Two hours later, it finally drained after a shower.
This plumber was a real piece of work. I told him that there are minerals blocking some of the water flow in my bathroom cold water line. The water doesn’t come out very good and it has got slower over the years. The plumber again told me that they didn’t do that and that AHS won't pay for it. He also said that he didn't have time for that. He was really grumpy and not very good at interacting with people, which was fine, but it was not a very pleasant experience with him. I called AHS later and asked, "Y'all don’t cover a water line that's coming in slow?" The rep was nice and explained to me that AHS doesn't cover incoming water issues and it's not on their seller's warranty. The rep also said that if I will have that plumber, that I request a referral to an appliance place, then there won't be another service charge. I asked the plumbing company if they could please do that, and that was the last I have heard of them.
I know AHS have gotten so big than 15 years ago. I used to call them in behalf of clients for service and it took a little while on hold, but not like now. Some of these contractors act like it is a big pain in the rear, but they are getting paid. This plumber that they sent out was like he was doing this for free, and that he didn’t have time. That person could have been a bit nicer, but he was not.
My experience with AHS has been fine and I'm satisfied with them. I understand their limits and what they're trying to work with. I also know when it changed to where we had to pay the service fee upfront. Everybody screamed and yelled about it, but that was fine. I worked at a real estate company, and we called AHS all the time. We use them exclusively and there is an hour wait just to get through to someone. That has been a gripe of everybody for years and I'm aware of that. Sometimes, there is a disconnection between the people AHS contacts with, such as the plumbers or air conditioning people.

The dryer broke and I initially submitted the claim with American Home Shield online, but when I didn’t get a resolution, I called them. The website navigation was okay, but it could be better. It’s easy to submit a claim on their website, but it’s hard to get follow-ups once you have an issue. The phone call to AHS sucks. It’s horrible because you wait at least 20 minutes to get in contact with someone, but once you get in contact with someone, everyone is very nice and helpful. My call required more than just the representatives’ attention and it was hard to escalate it to speak with a supervisor, but they were able to resolve it. I wanted to be able to speak to a supervisor because I haven’t had a working clothes dryer since the middle of December and it was frustrating for me.
Chesapeake Appliance stated that they came, but they didn’t. They also claimed that they contacted me, but they did not. I was charged for the initial visit, but I was not charged for the follow-up visit, and I wasn’t charged for the new company who came to eventually fix the problem. I found the person who initially came to be a bit diffident and very flippant. He said, “Oh, they’re not gonna fix that, so you’re gonna have to just wait for it to break.” He didn’t seem to care very much. The company was hard to reach.
I called and left several messages, and when I tried to follow up with them to get a follow-up appointment, their voicemail was full. Even when American Home Shield called them, their voicemail was full, so they were unable to reach them, which was how they gave me a new company to work with, which has been awesome since they reached out to me immediately once they got the claim. They sent me follow-up information after the tech came to my house and I felt very comfortable with them.
I don’t have a working dryer and when I called initially saying that something was wrong, that it was making a noise, I was told that they would not fix it until the dryer stopped working, which I think is ridiculous because we had six weeks notice that something was going wrong with the dryer. American Home Shield won’t fix it until it stops working completely, so I had to wait until the dryer broke. The company that they assigned me to wasn’t doing anything to make it better and I had to wait for them. With the holidays, I had to get another person to come out and now, I have to wait for the purchase order and wait for them to get it fixed. I’ve been a month without a dryer. I have three children and it’s winter, and I’m paying every month for service. I paid the service claim and I was willing to pay for whatever I needed to because I did not wanna have a situation where the dryer would stop working completely.

When our garbage disposal unit wasn't turning on and a claim was filed for that with AHS, A-American Plumbing was the contractor that came out. Every time I go away for a long-term trip, something happens in the house. Two years ago, we had a pipe leak that did substantial damage to the house. This year, the outside housing to the garbage disposal had cracked, so it was leaking water and the line had become backed up, so there was a stoppage. And there was an issue with the faucet that had been going on for a while that wasn’t taken care of on a previous visit from American Home Shield because the people there, I don’t think, knew what to do. They told me that the unit had to be replaced which it didn’t, apparently, but the issue still continued on. It had a leak to it and if you left it on the cold side, it would leak in off position. So, there was water on the ground when I got back and that was when I put in my American Home Shield claim.
Their process is amazingly easy to do online. It takes only a moment. You’re able to choose what issue it is and then you can go through and choose what are the primary issues within it. For instance, I chose plumbing and then I chose garbage disposal, then faucet and then stoppage. It was very easy for me to be able to choose everything and start the process on it.
I was really impressed and amazed with the contractor that came out. Within 10 minutes after I filed the claim, I was told who it was going to be. It was New Year’s Day so I expected to hear from them on the 2nd or the 3rd and I heard from them within 10 minutes on New Year’s Day. I was expecting to see him on a Thursday or Friday because things get backed up and he has his own things but he went ahead and made plans to see me the following day. He came within the specific time and he worked on my issues. He was professional and I really enjoyed working with him.
The service had been amazing. He replaced the garbage disposal and put in the Moen one which is better than the InSinkErator. He said the one that had the cracked housing on it was the best type there was and he had them on because I didn’t know that Moen made it. He did a whole bunch of plumbing that he thought could cause issues. He cleaned out the stoppage just fine and he fixed the faucet on it by replacing the cartridge. So, I don’t have to get rid of the whole entire faucet just like I thought I did, which is really cool because that saved me another $300.

So then I sent a letter to AHS' system being counsel general for the company, and they responded very quickly and had me in contact with a person. She called the contractor and they agreed to send a representative with a check, which was $392. He came out and wrote me a check for 160 bucks. So, I responded back to her telling her what had happened. Now I got a message on my board that they are going to issue me another check for the remainder. The contractor who came was the best I've ever had. He knew exactly what the problem was. He went in, saw what the issue was, and told me he was gonna have AHS get the part. He also said that he could have it done as soon as he gets the part. He gave me a week as the timeframe and sure enough, he was here in less than a week. He got the refrigerator fixed. The refrigerator is working like a charm now and is the quietest one you ever heard. American Home Shield did exactly what they said they would do. I paid my fee and they took care of the problem. And I've referred my friends to them.
Hi, John. Thank you for letting us know about your service experience! We are so pleased to know your refrigerator was only down for a week.

Updated on 01/04/2019: I wrote a review. They said to send private response. When I click respond it says can not send response. They're probably going to say it was resolved but it really wasn't. I bet all the good reviews on here are probably made up by them self. It's nothing like that fake TV ad with them acting like if something breaks they will just replace it. Save yourself from being scammed. Don't buy this worthless product.
Original review: Total waste of money. Called them one time for plumbing. They sent some lazy contractor that made up any excuse he could not do any work at all. Ended up having to call a real plumber. When my ac went out sent out a tech said I needed a cheap part that they would cover and Freon that they would only pay 10 dollars a pound for. I have to cover the rest. The Freon costs over 200 dollars a pound so it would end up costing me around 2000 just to fill it. It's a total rip off. When I bought the house the worthless program came with it. You're better off just saving the money and using it towards the repairs. They're not going to pay for anything anyway. It's a joke. I cant believe a place like this can stay in business scamming people like this but they do. One day there will be a class action lawsuit against them for fraud and I will be the first person to sign up.

This latest issue: the plumber came out 12/27 and around noon finished (unresolved issue), submitted his info to AHS from our driveway after we signed off on it, and said we would hear from AHS by the afternoon. We called Friday evening after waiting on hold 1.5 hours. They said that the report from the plumber was not submitted (I have heard this before on 2 previous calls).
After being on hold today for 30 minutes, they said that the contractor was not available until Monday, there was nothing in their system to show the results of the service call (even though we received 2 confirmation emails from AHS after the tech left) and they marked the call as COMPLETE on my account, yet we cannot use the shower until we hear about a resolution from AHS. The CS agent got irate, and my husband asked 3 times for a manager before he was transferred.
Earlier this year, it took 4 service calls and 3 months to fix what was a seal on the refrigerator door; 2 months to get the door of the microwave replaced (since they would not replace the $130 microwave), and over 1 month to replace the electronic board on the top of the washing machine - after they kept dispatching companies that told me personally they do not service Fisher & Paykal. I was told that by the local companies within 24 hours. AHS kept dispatching the call to the same company! I reported in detail to the Better Business Bureau today after reading the posts from current customers this week. I could relate to SEVERAL of their issues. I am not alone about this. OH - THEY ARE RAISING OUR MONTHLY RATE $10-$120 A YEAR.

My furnace is not working so I called and paid the 100 dollar fee and after it was paid was told it would be until Monday I would hear from someone because it is business work week. Now it is 9 degrees outside and my house is in the 50s and I have children. Running the oven to keep warm. They are going to tell me I can pay someone out of pocket and then they will reimburse me after I pay for another service. This is not why I went with this company. Promises they make and don't back up. Now I'm waiting until Monday with no heat. I will be changing services and will tell everyone I can about the services I was provided. Funny how they make sure they get their monthly payment and copay and still can provide emergency services.

Would you like to have a fridge not working from Thanksgiving to after New Year's? I'm positive AHS just posts the positive responses as I have looked on other review sites and EVERY single review is horrible. AHS has to be the worse company in their category Or and my last review I did received an email stating I would get a personal call... Still waiting on that call.
Original Review: I am now well over one month without a working refrigerator. American Home Shield will not fix or replace, there’s always an excuse. They have sent out two different companies. Parts are always on back order. Every time I have called it’s an hour plus on hold, then the service can’t help then I’m transferred to another department, with more lengthy holds. This is our second home warranty company experience after using Landmark for a couple years. We have had nothing but hardship over the last 2 years with AHS. Every time something has needed repaired (to date it has been our pool pump twice, our ice maker once, and an AC unit) and each time has been an absolute hassle! The pool pump repairs have been sub-standard and have broken a couple months after.
The ice maker we had the repair man come out only to tell us that he could fix it, then when it didn't work after the repair he said they should replace it for us and then we received a call from AHS stating that they actually didn't cover our ice maker and that they would refund the service fee and this was over 5 weeks ago! Still waiting for the service fee refund ($75)! But rest assured they have not missed billing us for the monthly service. We actually had a repair company tell us that AHS spoke with them and told them to reject any all claims where possible!!! Unethical company with poor service. We will be done as soon as our contract is over.

I've had AHS for the past couple of years and am going to cancel due to the frustrations I've been having with their customer service department. I've had three situations where I had to reach out to them. All three times at different times of the year I've had hold times of over 30 minutes. One time, the associate put me on hold to inquire about the issue I called about and put me on hold for another 30 minutes! I hung up because I could not wait any longer.
Another time, I requested the callback feature (which by the way is not consistent when you dial their number) and they called back and said I was next to be serviced only to wait another 30 minutes! What's the point of using that feature if you're being put on hold again. Seriously, all the hundreds of dollars I spend each year for this is a waste of money because I've gotten nothing resolved. I could've bought a brand new appliance with the money I've put towards this company over the past two years. I regret signing up with them.

Our heat went out Friday of last week. We called and put in a claim to have someone fix our oil burner that was not working. After not hearing anything for two days we called back to check the status and was told they were unable to find someone and that we could find someone ourselves and as long as they approved it we would be responsible for the bill and submit it for reimbursement.
We waited until after Christmas and called again, this time hearing from the service provider the next day only to be told that they dismissed our call because we were out of their service area, even though the same company had come to service our air conditioning unit two years ago. Having to call AHS again to have another service provider come. It has now been over a week without heat in our house with two small children. We have been costumers with AHS since purchasing our home for the peace of mind that this would not happen. This had been a discouraging experience and leaving us to question why we continue to have a contract with the company when they have not been able to provide us with the service we have been paying for.

I wasn’t very happy with my experience with American Home Shield. I called them about a water heater that was barely getting hot. Submitting a claim to them too long. I was on hold for almost two hours before I got an attendant to come and answer the phone. And once they finally answered the phone, I told them that I had lukewarm water and it took four days for them to come out. So for four days, I had lukewarm water. When they finally got out, they told me that since I did have lukewarm water, the water heater was still working. And since it’s still working, it’s not covered, even though it’s barely working. Until it stopped completely working, it’s not covered, which to me, is just ridiculous. So I ended up spending $75 to tell me that they were not gonna fix it and I ended up having to go buy a water heater. I just had the water heater installed yesterday.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to advise us of your experience. A Social Media Specialist will be in contact with you to assist in resolution.

The heat didn’t come on and I thought it was the thermostat. I submitted a claim with AHS and they sent out Climate Express. The tech, Bob, looked at it and said that the problem was not in the thermostat but upstairs in the attic. When he went above the garage, he found a quick-disconnect where there might have had a short and melted the wire. Instead of having 220, I had 110 volts.
Bob was very professional and very helpful. It was 8:00 in the morning and he might have been here 8:01. This happened on a Monday after a weekend and the long holiday with Christmas. He had a couple of emergency calls but he was here on time, went straight to work, and approximately within a couple of minutes, diagnosed the problem, and got a quick-fix. He had to go out and buy another part because he did not have that part on his truck. But he configured and bypassed the quick-disconnect so that we had heat in the house and we were able to warm up. He was able to get us going without the part, which made absolute sense.
He asked if he could take a little extra time and we granted him some time. We had to go out and pick-up our granddaughter then get a few other things. And when he came back early in the afternoon, he replaced the final piece, made sure everything was hunky dory, and left. He was very pleasant and everything worked out fine. So, I have no qualms of asking for Bob again.

I had a plumbing claim and I initiated it online and then followed up with a phone call. When I called American Home Shield back to let them know that it was an emergency, they told me that they put in an expedited order and then it has so many hours to find someone to take care of the service. I called 30 minutes before the time was up and AHS still hadn’t found anyone to do the service. I talked to two different agents and neither of them explained to me exactly what outside service was until I spoke to the third one. She told me that I had to pay for the service and that AHS has a list of people who I couldn't call, a list of people who weren’t on the website.
She wanted me to write down all of these people's names which made no sense to me because if AHS has a do not call list, then it should be on the website available to customers so that they don’t have to go through all of that, as well as what the policy is for using somebody outside, that customers are required to pay for the service and before that contractors can even initiate the service, they still have to call and get approval from American Home Shield which to me was just a little much to have to go through to do all of that.
Finally, when she called in multiple times, they were able to find the same person that they originally took the service call to. The contractor was available to come out on a Saturday, which was around 24 hours later and took care of the service which the amount was a bit lower than I had to go through in order for that to even transpire. To me, that should have been the first call that AHS made to see if they had an emergency service 'cause when I talked to that company, initially, they told me they did, but I couldn't initiate it because it was coming through American Home Shield.
The contractor was great. It was just American Home Shield who could do a little bit more on top of how they handle the situation 'cause with plumbing, some stuff couldn't wait three days for a plumber to come out. And when I spoke with them, I told them several times what the issue was. It happened during the holiday so, of course, a lot of people aren't working, and I understand that. But I waited until after Christmas to try and get it resolved and finally it got resolved. The service with American Home Shield was just a little not put together as much as it should have been. I dealt with them before on other services and I never had an issue. The AC guy, this was probably during the summer was a little smart mouth, but it wasn’t enough for me to go out and call about, 'cause some people just have smart mouths. His was a little smarter than what I would prefer, but it is what it is.

I had a stoppage backup in my kitchen sink which I made a claim for online, and the contractor that came was terrible. SAP Plumbing never contacted me to set up a time. Supposedly, they send out notifications through email and through text message. However, when I called the rep, she told me that I was set up on the "Do not call list", and I honestly don't understand how that happened. For the miscommunication, I explained to her that I would like to be called to set up a time because they just made their own appointment time that I wasn't aware of. We rescheduled, but they never came out for the scheduled appointment time. When I called, they told me that the appointment time had been changed by them. Again, still no follow-up phone call or anything to see if that works for me.
I finally called and was told that the technician went to the wrong house. They said they were gonna reschedule it that evening, during the window of 5:00 to 7:00, and the technician showed up at 8:30. They did what they needed to do, and they found out that they needed to do more research. That called for us to schedule another appointment. That appointment was made for a Saturday and no one ever showed up for that appointment. Monday morning, I got an email that said, "Your appointment is scheduled for this day." Again, no phone call to see what time works for me. I told American Home Shield not to send these people again, and that's when they set it up with Beck. However, SAP showed up anyway, and I happened to be home so they were able to complete the camera process that we were waiting on. I have not heard anything back up after they conducted their process.
I found out from the technician that they exclusively do work for American Home Shield. I wouldn't want someone else to waste their time and money waiting for them. So far, having a warranty has not been valuable. It has cost me more money for all the time that I've had to take off work. People are better off keeping their money and making their own repairs. I still have a kitchen sink that I can't use. I've had to use paper plates or eat out. I don't have the luxury of being able to just cook and wash my dishes. At this point I'm gonna have to take legal action against someone because it's cost me more than what it's needed to, just because of someone's negligence.

It started to cycle on and off a lot and my daily usage of electrical kilowatt was becoming almost double. When the contractors that AHS sent out looked at it, they said that there were parts that were burned out and the heater was using way more amps just to keep it going.
The technicians were polite, nice, and informative. When they called in the next day, they said that they could come the same day, so that was awesome. They found the part that wasn’t working properly, and their supervisor told them to go ahead and replace it with a new one. I saw that the part was sealed in a plastic wrap when the tech took it out of the truck. So, it was a new part, and they installed it. So far, the house has maintained at a better temperature. I went online to look at the status of the power company, and it looks like less kilowatts being used every day now. So that’s been fixed.
It was pretty easy to submit the claim to AHS. I was pretty impressed. The only weird thing is that I get emails for advertisements with AHS to sign up, but I’m already signed up. He thought at first, he’d have to go to the ceiling in the kitchen, but he was able to get out through the access point.
He came on Saturday. He was very professional, nice and personable. He noticed that there is a clog somewhere down the line, and that wasn’t on the claim. He explained that he couldn’t do that. So I actually have another claim out right now. The contractor is coming tomorrow to fix that. I can shower in my bathtub now. It’s just backing up. But there’s no burst pipe anymore, so that’s good.
When I bought the house, it was a one-year home warranty through American Shield. I was wondering if there is any way to extend that another year or two. Nobody has called me though.
On the other hand, I also had a serviceman in here for my toilet and he was excellent. So far, my experience in dealing with American Home Shield has been satisfactory. As a matter of fact, each time I have to place an order, they always tell me I’m not supposed to pay them. They take out $106 from my account two days after the service has been completed. In the case of my sink though, there has been no service done and there’s $106 that’s gonna come out of my checking account. Home Shield better not do that because nothing has been done nor have they called me back to tell me if it’s been authorized.
I was trying to call them yesterday and all I could get were recordings. So I don’t know how to get in touch with them where I can talk to a person. I’m getting very annoyed. I’m very disgusted because I can’t use the water in my kitchen. I still don’t have service in my kitchen and I can’t cook. I’m an amputee and I rely on services like this to help me keep my home going. On top of that, they went up $10 on my monthly bill.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

One of my shower valves in the master bathroom was not working properly. It was stripped so no matter which way and how much I turned it, the water was still coming out. Then on the kids’ bathroom, there was an issue with the valve itself and it was pretty much stripped. Apparently, it needed a cartridge replaced. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and they sent out Still Waters Plumbing.
I own this house for nine years and I've had American Home Shield for the last year or so. Thus far, I'm very satisfied with them. I've had multiple home warranty companies and the service and quality has decreased. But ever since I've been with American Home Shield, they’ve been up to par. I like the fact that even if I have to call on a weekend, and I know that nobody would be available on a weekend, at least they portray the message to the home office, so I get a follow-up call the next available business day. Where I work at, for example, on Mondays, you could get very wrapped up with work. So if something happens over the weekend, I can call AHS and at least I put the message out there. I don’t forget about it on a Monday when I'm at work because, obviously, I'm not at home. Then I don't have to wait another day to call American Home Shield. So that’s something that is an increased benefit right there.
Also, a lot of times, I like to be able to speak with an agent. I'm computer-savvy but there are some things that sometimes I'd rather do over the phone than over the internet. But American Home Shield's hold time to get a hold of an agent has increased a little bit. Other than that, the options of being able to file a claim or even do a follow-up or a recall order through their website, is handy. Their website is user-friendly and it provides an option to be able to request the service when you are not able to get a hold of someone.
I also like the method of paying for the copay with American Home Shield. I have a credit card on file with them so when the people who come in to serve my house come, they just ask me to sign something and I don’t have to pull out a credit card. Sometimes I'm not able to be at home for the repair, so it's either my wife or my father-in-law or someone else. So it's not necessarily the method of payment that I wanna use to pay for the copay but the fact that they have that on file and it's charged once the service is completed directly through the method of payment on file, that is something very handy because I've had three other home warranties prior to American Home Shield and I ran into that problem. Some of them sometimes only took cash or checks and some of them only took credit cards. So it's handy in that volatile situation where you never know what they would take or how you could pay.

I had problems submitting claims with American Home Shield because of the holidays. I called and the first people that came out had two names. Their card said Pipe Doctor but the name they gave me was another name. The guy who came out didn’t do a good job. I was still having leaky water. He left abruptly and I felt like it was my fault because I was glad that somebody had come to fix my leaky water, that when he said he was all done, I said, “Thank you and you have a merry Christmas and happy holidays” and walked him out the door.
When he left, I went to check on my water problem and there was water spewing out of my shower head. I called them back immediately and a child answered the phone. I called them again and they were gonna be off for the holidays. Also, after the guy left, I never heard from them. It was a common courtesy to call people back after they call and say that they’ve got continuous water coming out of their shower head.
So I called AHS and they said that they wouldn’t come back until the next week. Next week came and I called them back and said that I understood it was the holidays but I still had leaky water which was not good. They said if I wanted to have somebody else come out, they were gonna charge me another $100. I told them I wanted to talk to a manager or somebody because that was not right. First of all, the guy who came created a problem for me. I kept calling Pipe Doctor but they wouldn’t answer their phone. The people that came out had a problem and now, another problem had been created, which was not there to begin with.
So the whole holiday weekend, I had water leak. I said somebody would pay for my water usage ‘cause the water was leaking continually. And after I told AHS that I was gonna report them to the Better Business Bureau or call somebody else if they didn’t let me talk to their manager, the lady I was talking to said that the manager was busy and had other calls, but that they would send another company out, so that was satisfactory to me. SAP Home Repair Services was the second company to come out to fix our water faucet. The guy was very courteous and explained everything to me. He took out an old cassette from the shower handle which caused the leaking. Since then, everything has been working perfectly.
Overall, I would not recommend the first company because they were not good at all. Other people might be going through other problems and I would hate for them to go through what I had to go through. I never had a problem with American Home Shield until they sent this plumber out. But I was glad AHS didn’t charge me the extra $100 because it wasn’t my fault that the guy put in an old cartridge in there instead of a brand new one. That was poor work performance as far as I’m concerned. Nevertheless, I was happy with the second company's service and I would still continue with American Home Shield.

Our washing machine was having problems again. The dispenser for the water and ice on the refrigerator wouldn’t work anymore. Also, our microwave oven blew a fuse. On October 20th, we called American Home Shield and they sent out Done Rite Appliance. They looked at the refrigerator and the microwave oven, then the washing machine. A week later, I got a text message from the tech asking me for the model number of the washing machine. So, he didn’t even write down the stuff when he was here. Recently, we found out that when they came out, they broke the valves partially open to the washing machine and didn’t say anything to anybody. It wasn’t leaking but it was internally broke partially open, so we weren’t getting any kind of flow into it on top of the pump being bad.
I called American Home Shield four different times and spoke to one person. Her name was Kelly and she had a Southern accent and I got hung up on. I tried back five times through a two-month span and each time after that, I got somebody from overseas and I couldn't understand them. I requested a supervisor every time and then I either got hung up on or told that the supervisor would call me back tomorrow but no supervisor called me back. Also, they would say that they sent the parts to the contractor. I would call the contractor and they would say that they haven't received the parts. It has been back and forth, back and forth.
Finally, I Google-searched them and found the email for the CEO of American Home Shield, so we emailed him. I told him all the problems we were having. Then finally, Paul, a representative from Arizona called us and got the ball rolling and since then, we’ve got the washing machine fixed. AHS couldn't fix the refrigerator, so they had to replace it. That just came today. AHS assigned Runyon Appliance and their techs are professional. When they took the washing machine apart, they found that Done Rite left it disconnected and one of their tools was inside there.
Also, when they were here in October to work on it, Done Rite left our refrigerator unplugged, then cracked the wall outlet behind the refrigerator because they just yanked it out. They didn’t even adjust the stoppers so it would roll. They just dragged it out, cracked the plate and broke the water valve. With the washing machine, they also left the pump disconnected but plugged in and they didn’t tell my wife that. So, my wife went to do a little laundry because the washing machine was semi-working and then it flooded the entire laundry room. I had to jump on top of the dryer to unplug it so nobody got electrocuted. This has been a nightmare.
The company that AHS contracted with, Done Rite Appliance, sucked. It was horrible. American Home Shield owned some of the blame too because for two months, I’ve been trying to get a hold of them and it took us emailing the CEO to get something to happen. Once the representative for Arizona got involved the next day after the email, everything has been moving. AHS has been doing everything in a timely manner to get stuff taken care of and has been very professional. But before that, I was very dissatisfied and I wouldn’t recommend them to anybody.
We had another issue before in July of 2018. On the 4th of July, my air conditioner went out and it was 98 degrees in my house for two days. I called American Home Shield and I looked on my warranty plan and the fan motor is something they cover. AHS told us that the contractor would be out here in two days but we couldn’t have two days. So, we ended up calling a company ourselves that came out the same day within two hours and they fixed it. It cost me over 400 bucks out of my pocket. AHS is doing great right now though. They’ve redeemed themselves in the last week and a half and we’ve used them one time before where they sent people out who were able to fix the issue.

I have had this coverage for two years since we bought our latest home. I also purchased a basic plan for our rental property. We have utilized it 3 times. Two of the times were for air conditioner issues. Covered no problem and relatively prompt, considering the time of year. We had to pay for refrigerant (read fine print), but all-in-all the cost was substantially lower than it could have been. The third issue was our pool heater, which needed to be replaced. This was a headache and took 1/3 of the pool season to get mostly resolved.
However, in the end we were CONTENT. Because of the product, it involved several different technicians to install it. Pool technicians, electricians, and HVAC. The two more expensive ones were covered, but we had to fight for the HVAC and electrical. Ultimately because of constant, and very long, calls we paid for the HVAC portion out of pocket. However again, the cost was substantially lower than it would have been overall. They are expensive. That is my biggest complaint and customer service can easily get confused, but is always polite once you get to talk with them.
Hello, Marshall. Thank you for taking time out of your day to advise us of your service experiences. We do hope that everything is running as it should and please let us know when we can be of any further assistance.

That never happened, days later I went online and saw GMI had just made an appointment without contacting me at all. I called AHS and again waited on hold over an hour to change appt due to conflict with another appt. Agent said no problem, GMI will call to reschedule. I stated, "Really? Because they never called before to make first appt."
Now a week has passed and on a Sunday I call (and yet again an hour wait on hold) because toilet in flooding bathroom from base, secondary damage which isn't covered. I was told the case would be expedited and get someone out as soon as possible. I keep explaining that I am a first time customer and I'm not liking the way things are going. In the time all this is happening I got one toilet unstopped on my own, but the one that backed up I still have issues with. Well Thursday afternoon 4 days after being put on the expedited status a technician came out from Plumbers Inc. Takes a look, checks and sees it's flushing now, explained I just plunged it about an hour ago. Technician states bolts are rusted and broken off and o-ring is bad. He replaces o-ring and states to do blots he must get authorization from AHS to continue. States I should hear from them soon whether or not it's covered.
I call one week later (an hour plus wait on hold) and talk with agent to find out all work is denied, period. Asked when was I going to be notified and agent stated, "The notes say they Left you a message yesterday" (no message is on either phone). I have stated, "I don't wish to be with this company any longer and want a Refund," I'm ignored. This was my first experience with this company. Was told it was the best, not in my opinion. I have two heating elements in my hot water heater and the bottom one was burned out. It was a wonder it didn't catch fire. The contractor came out within an hour and he was smarter way beyond his years the way that he was so professional about everything. He's the nicest guy, and he must have only been in the 20's. The heater has been operating fine since then.
However, we were under the impression that the $100 deductible we paid was going to take care of it, but it did not. When you get that insurance, AHS doesn't tell you that. They tell you that these things are covered and they're gonna go ahead and pay for it with your $100 deductible, but no. I had to pay another $240. It was all stuff that needed to be done but they didn't cover it. We should not have to keep paying the monthly fees and then pay extra on top of the deductible. I checked the Better Business Bureau and everybody complained about the same thing. It has made me think of switching to another advertised home warranty.

My hot tub needed repair and when I looked it up online with my plan, it did say a hot tub was covered. So I made a service call and it was an electrical problem. There were two broken screws on the pump and because they broke off, water was leaking so I needed those replaced first. But the only option was for plumbing. So a plumbing company came out. It was Beck Plumbing Mtc and they didn't do anything.
Then American Home Shield explained to me that my hot tub isn't covered and that it's only an indoor hot tub that's covered. But there was nowhere that says there's a difference between indoor and outdoor. A hot tub is a hot tub. So they agreed to give a refund. They said it was gonna be an automatic refund and that it would take three days. But my heater died this morning so I just had to call them again. It would have been nice if the refund went through at the same time that I made a new service call so there would have been a zero deduction. But that didn't happen so I had $100 authorization then I need to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully, that refund will come in.

The amount of hold time that a customer is expected to be on the phone with American Home Shield is way too excessive. If you’re having problems and you got a plumbing leak, you don’t need to be on hold for over an hour. You need to have somebody to call or call you back. Then, days pass before you hear a response from them. AHS also needs to have better follow-up after they send a tech out. I even asked them if their business model was to send someone out and charge $75. Then, they don't respond, so the homeowner takes care of it themselves out of frustration. They need to really work on customer service.
One time, I had a claim and since I'm not their typical client, I was able to give feedback directly to the part of the ownership structure myself. Obviously, they wanna know what’s going on and they responded to me when they understood I was having problems. They said that it was not the way they prefer things to be and they'd follow it up. So it was handled the way it was supposed to. And I had an audience for my very transparent and blunt version of my experience, as well as what I thought should happen for it to be improved. Things are better now. But it was disappointing that the incident had to escalate to the level that it did in order for their service to get better.

And the last time I had to call him, the waterline from the motor to the filter had broken loose and they came out and repaired it without any problem.
The person that came out was accurate. He knew what he was doing and he answered the questions that I asked him. Everything has been operating well since the repair. Having the warranty has also been good. I have small fees and the pump probably costs twice as much as more than what I paid, so it was very good. The contractor, Action Air Conditioning, was all right. The only problem I had with them is how long it's taking to get the problem resolved. They came out on December the 13th, and they came and took the motherboard a couple of days ago. With one refrigerator, he had to drill holes in the back and took it all out, but he couldn't guarantee that it was fixed after he did all of that work. I have yet to hear back from American Home Shield with what they're gonna do on that. Although the icemaker got resolved and they should be bringing that out on Wednesday to replace that.
I was in Afghanistan when I had to make the claim over the phone, and my son was taking care of it which I don't know where they got the number from. I called back and I had them to put in the correct number. Also, the plumbing portion has not yet been taken care of, and that's been since the 12th of December. I'm getting ready to go back to Afghanistan, and my stuff is not done. No one has ever called. I keep calling and leaving messages on the number that they gave me, and no one still has come out.
With the oven, AHS first told us they could not fix it, and they couldn't find the part. So I did without my oven for Christmas. And then they turned around and told me that it's going to take 13 to 17 days for them to fix the oven. They then offered me $200 for a KitchenAid double oven. But I don’t think so. It's ridiculous. I switched from AHS one time because of this situation. I never had any problems with them for a while so we switched back since I like them. I went to two other companies that I didn’t get the service that I got from AHS. But now, since I'm back, I'm like, "Wow. This is what I was getting from the other two services." And basically, I had my whole family go to AHS.
The people that came out in the past were very excellent, very prompt and they cared about how long it was taking and everything. Just getting the issue fixed and getting someone out to my house to do it in a timely manner is what's bothering me. And then when I call into AHS, I get the nastiness. I'm in customer service, and there's no way that somebody should be made to feel like it's my problem. It's not my problem because that's what I pay AHS for. I don’t have a problem paying them on time. They, when I have a problem, should not give me, "Well, you haven't really been with us this long." It doesn’t matter if I've been with them for 1 day or 10 years. I feel I should have the same service. I'm paying the same amount of money that anybody else pays.

I called American Home Shield about my refrigerator that wasn’t keeping cold. The gentleman came out, looked and said, “They could put a coil in, but you need a new refrigerator.” He reported his findings back to AHS and one of their reps called me and told me how to proceed. If I want to get the money back, they can cash me out or I could get a new refrigerator. I just want the new refrigerator so I went online and followed all the prompts and ordered a black refrigerator.
I was under the assumption that all refrigerators open from right to left. December 11th, they called and brought out the refrigerator. I had been out of town, so I was disoriented, I just got back in at night. Three gentleman took out my white refrigerator and they saw that it opens from left to right, but they brought this black refrigerator in and I didn’t notice that they open from right to left. It’s the opposite of my cabinets so when I have to open up my refrigerator, I have to walk around the door to open it and put stuff. I started calling and the gentlemen at Baron’s who brought the refrigerator out said, “Well, we closed the case. Call AHS and that’s the only way we can come back out.”
So, I called AHS and they finally reopened the case. Last week, a very nice representative called and she explained to me that since refrigerator has already been delivered, there was nothing that they could do. She told me that it was my fault and that I should have told them which way the refrigerator opens. I told her that there was nowhere on the website nor did any of the representatives ever tell me that I should tell them what side the handle was on.
I said, “Well, what happen to the 30 days? What happen to customer satisfaction? How about AHS meet me halfway and we rectify this situation and have somebody come back out?” They said, "Well, no. We can’t do that.” I’ve been a loyal customer for 12 years. I didn’t even complain when I had to wait almost two months for their refrigerator to come out. I waited, I dealt with the situation, I bought ice and I’d been cooler. And some years, I’ve never even used this home warranty. But it’s like insurance daily in the sense that you must be insured, so whenever situation happen, you are prepared.
AHS failed me in the two ways. One was when I ordered the refrigerator and I talked to the rep. No one ever said, “Make sure that you tell us what side the refrigerator opens on. And two, we could have a meeting of the minds. Even if I had to pay a certain amount for somebody to come back out and redo this, they should not shut me down like I’m at fault. They missed it and they should take care of the situation. Customer is not always right, but I did nothing wrong although I was ignorant for not asking the right questions.
In my opinion, the people who came out and delivered the refrigerator noticed that that the refrigerator opens from right to left when they took my white refrigerator away. There were three men and they should have seen them but they hurried up and got out of here. I’m angry with AHS because they are my spokespeople and in this sense, we both dropped the ball so they should help me rectify this situation. That’s all I’m asking. I’m happy with AHS and I have no desire to get rid of them. I’ll just see that out of my pocket. I don’t know what it’s gonna cost me to have them come and redo that door but that’s what I’m gonna have to do.

I was having some issues with my stove and I filed the claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor came and he was awesome. He took the time to order all the necessary parts. There were a few pieces that he realized he needed later. He even called me back the same day 'cause I had previously told him I was off that day and asked me if I was still at home and if he could come back and fix it that same day. He got everything done within that day, and he had a follow up because he needed to order a part. Again, he came in and was very friendly, courteous and went over and above to make sure that everything was repaired properly.

Our dishwasher stopped working. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and it was easy. Their online site was good and I used my phone. The contractor that was sent out was very timely and he was done in 15 minutes. The clogged drain was resolved and everything has been working very well since the repair. I also get updates from the contractor company. It's good communication.
In the past, I tried to request for multiple services, such as when I had an appliance that wasn't working and there was a plumbing issue as well. But because the issues were different, I needed to make two different reservations. I found that to be a little challenging to do online, so I eventually had to call in. At one point, I tried requesting for a specific vendor for this area, one I had worked previously with, but I was told that assigning vendors is done at random so they couldn't do that for me. If you have a good experience with a company and you want to use them again, you should be allowed to. Still, I've recommended American Home Shield several times.

There was water on the floor and that day, I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. I had a good interaction with the claims representative and someone from Hers and His Plumbing called me the following day. The contractor came, he told me what the problem was, he fixed it, then he left. Everything has been operating fine since the repair but I don’t know if I have water damage inside the wall. And if AHS wouldn’t cover that, then I wouldn’t know what to do. Still, having the AHS warranty is very valuable. It helps the homeowners out. Somebody told me about them so I signed up and I've had the warranty for about a year now. You should also get it ‘cause it’s worth it.

I had a heating issue and I called American Home Shield. Within 24 hours, Air First Mechanical was at my house. Their technician was really nice and seemed to know what he was talking about. Ultimately, the previous homeowner didn't do a very a very good job keeping up on maintenance so the unit was really dirty. The tech cleaned everything off and since then we haven't had any issues. I'd recommend AHS. I've tried using the warranty once and it was very good so I'm very happy with it.

My water heater went out on Monday and I was shut down from my water from the time that the accident was reported. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and it went really well. They gave me a number for a service provider, but they were on vacation or holiday and they were closed. There was an automated system though and they said they would get back to me within 24 hours. But I was completely flooded then, so I called ServiceMaster. My homeowners insurance sent me to them. There was somebody on duty at ServiceMaster, and they sent somebody over within 45 minutes.
American Home Shield, meanwhile, sent me to Callahan Plumbing, and Callahan Plumbing was automated too. But this is a small town and somebody had the cellphone number of Brian, the contractor, so I was able to get ahold of him that way. He was very nice and efficient, and he took care of the problem. He contacted American Home Shield about the approved new water heater. He came back and he was at my house too within 45 minutes of calling. After the service, I was good to go with the water heater and that was up and running. I was a member of American Home Shield when I first bought my home. I have noticed, however, that I hadn’t received any kind of correspondence from them. I was the first one to call back and then I re-established my contract with them. I've been very happy with American Home Shield.

We’ve had great service from American Home Shield's contractors. Usually, when we submit a claim for something, we get a prompt response back from the claim service reps themselves and everything’s been good. We had an issue with our dryer, and it turned out the heating element was out. We also had some issues with our stove top. The burners were getting stuck. They weren’t really turning off or turning on. They were just on full black all the time when you turn them on. But we had them replaced, and everything works good now. So far, we were thoroughly pleased with American Home Shield and satisfied with the process and everything with it.

There were a number of different issues that were resolved, but the biggest one was with the 26-year-old Sub-Zero refrigerator that I have. From the time the house was bought, the ice maker has never really worked at all. We bought the house in July of 2012, but I didn't really bother with the first call I put in with American Home Shield about the ice maker until 2013. I waited a few months. I finally got around to working on it in 2013 and it has been a constant battle of calling AHS, them sending out someone from a partner company that will diagnose it and ordering some parts. The techs would come in and fix a part of it, but it won't be quite done. They would come back but would go back and forth, and I would take days off of work. They would get it so that it would somehow be a little better, but then a few months or weeks later, it would die again and I would decide if I wanna keep messing with it or just leave it alone.
It had been going on for a long time and it got to this fall, around October, and I said, "Okay, that's it. I'll finally gonna get this thing, that I'll call it in." It was the first time that I got Express Appliance out and they were different from some of the companies we've had in the past. They came in and said, "Okay, it looks like this is what your issue is here. I will order your part." The next guy came and he put the part, but he said that it wasn't really what the issue was, there was something else.
Beginning with those subsequent rounds of ordering parts, installing, etc., we got to a place where the guy went to install the part, but it turned out that all the lines were dead. He had to order still more parts and did a shutdown. On December 31st, he came out and we finally got the ice maker to work for the first time in forever. However, in the process of making that work, the freezer then didn't go at all, so I was up at 2:00 in the morning on New Year's Day or the day after unloading my freezer. The issues still aren't resolved.
James pointed out and said that my compressor was looking pretty rough. It was a little rusty around the edges and he didn't know why. He couldn't order the part for it until it was dead. Express Appliance is a company that I trust. I like them. I like the people they've sent out, their back office staff, the manager, and the technician, especially James, the most recent technician that I had. They are competent and they are doing a good job. However, if there was more flexibility to allow the technician to say, "Look, I'm gonna order this part. It's not completely failed but it's near failure," it'd be happier from a customer experience level.
James could've ordered the part right while he was here and could've kept the work order open. The compressor died within hours of him leaving. I don't know if it was precipitated by the work that he did or if it was just coincidental, but the compressor was done. I had to again put another call in with AHS, do it as a recall order, and talk to them. Everyone was really professional and nice, although the policy department could allow flexibility.
I submit my claims with AHS online and the website navigation is great. It is easy and it works. The technicians or contractors that AHS had sent out really improved. In the past, it was a little touch and go, but in the past couple of years, I generally have been very pleased. Within a company, you can get a malfunctioning guy, but for the most part, the guys sent were good. I'm really happy with my experience with AHS, but there are some processes I have issues with that could be improved a bit.

We’ve had a lot of good experiences with American Home Shield. When we bought the house in 1990, the people who owned the house before us gave us a three-year subscription to American Home Shield and these guys were very helpful. That was way back then we decided to get American Home Shield again. About a month before we signed up, our microwave went out and then the oven went out. The stove and the microwave were one unit. Back in the ‘80s, that was how they did it. We got the stove and microwave through American Home Shield and now they’re separated. We had to have an electrician come in and run the line because now, there are separate lines. But it worked out really well and we’re very pleased with the microwave and the oven.
We've sold the house now but when the inspector came in before that, it was found out that the air conditioning wasn’t working. If I didn’t fix it, they were gonna take money out of our portion of the sale. We hadn’t used the air conditioning in about three months because the temperatures had been dropping. So I tried to turn the it on and I couldn’t do it either. We called American Home Shield to see what was going wrong. When the guy came in, he put a wire on our air conditioner and the activator but nothing happened. So he took the thermostat off the wall and put another one on. Then he checked it and the air worked. So it was only that and now, everything is working fine.
The guy who came for the AC before that claim thought the problem was the batteries in the thermostat and at that the time, the heat was not coming on. It was cold air coming out. We changed the batteries in the thermostat and the heat came on. So both issues were because of the thermostat. We also had a refrigerator claim one time. It was a side by side refrigerator and the light was out in the freezer part. The technician said he would have to rip out all of the insulation to get to it which would cost more than a new refrigerator. So we decided to say goodbye to the refrigerator. Overall, we’ve always had a good experience.

I love American Home Shield. We’ve had them for years. We even got my dad to have an account. We’ve managed two houses, utilizing American Home Shield for the last 20 years. I had one really negative experience when I was dealing with my dad’s house though. There was a new dishwasher that was not connected properly, which then caused tons of water to be leaked under a wooden floor. American Home Shield told us that we just needed to talk to the people that came out but the people that came out would not respond. They didn’t want it to go to their insurance. They wouldn’t do anything about it.
I told American Home Shield that we only used that contractor because AHS had a relationship with them and that AHS has to force them into doing something. But AHS told us that they couldn’t do it. The whole reason we used AHS is because we were utilizing, supposedly, contractors that were vetted by AHS and that AHS had some relationship with the contractors that would help make sure these things don’t happen. It was a whole ugly deal and it finally worked itself out but not without me throwing a fit.
Also when we had something wrong with our pool, they told us that they didn’t know if we’ve been maintaining it. That was the standard line. Luckily, we have a really good pool guy who is an expert. I put him on the line with AHS and after they got done talking with him, they told me that they would cover it. If we weren’t tenacious, there could be some hiccups, but we knew too much. It used to be a 48-hour turnaround, but AHS has improved tremendously. The tech was very awesome and very knowledgeable about his job. I thought it was the compressor, but it wasn’t. It was the capacitor. He was able to diagnose every step of the system to make sure that I don’t see him again, which was also awesome. He did everything very carefully as if he knew what he was doing. He is certified and I appreciate the service that he rendered. I turned the unit on and it blew fine, although I need to call him back out to do something with the duct because it was blowing softly. The ducts need to be cleaned.
I’ve been an American Home Shield customer since 2007 and there has definitely been an improvement within the company as well as customer service, and how they choose their vendors to come out. They determined that it was the thermostat, but I felt it needed to be replaced along with the element. They did their thing and then when they were finished, I signed off on the paperwork. They were in my home less than an hour. Prior the repair, I couldn't control the hot water. It was scalding one day and then cold a couple of days later. Now I have constant hot water, and I don't have to worry about constantly adjusting it. Everything went well with this experience but if it was something that I needed help with right away, I don't have an option to tell AHS that in the automated line. Usually, I try to call back and talk to an operator but it can take an hour to get ahold of someone to actually talk to. I've had some pretty bad experiences in the past but this one was good because it wasn't an emergency.

We had American Home Shield at our previous residence but we cancelled the policy because the house was sold right at the end of the year. So, when we moved to our new house in a different state, we also went with American Home Shield because we have had a very positive experience with them. The only time that American Home Shield did not replace or repair in a short time frame was when our freezer went out. It was probably my misunderstanding of the way the policy worked. It is a standalone freezer and I did not realize that it was not covered.
Submitting the claims both online and via phone worked well. I normally do it online because it is a lot quicker and the phone is a bit longer because I gotta wait for someone. When we had an ice maker issue, I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. A contractor from Sears got here and repaired the initial problem of the ice maker not making ice. The technician was extremely knowledgeable of the product. He found the problem in a short period of time. He diagnosed the problem and a mechanism had to be replaced for it to make ice and he had the part on his truck. He repaired the problem within 30 minutes or less.
After the part was replaced, there was a secondary problem where the part that allows the ice to feed out to drop into a cup on the outside of the refrigerator was not working. He did not have the part on his truck so he had to order it. He had to wait a week or two for the parts to be shipped to us and as soon as the parts showed up, we notified him. Then, he scheduled to come back out and he was also here for a short period of time.

We had a water pressure issue and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online. The online process was very easy and I was pleased with how quickly they were able to get somebody out. The contractor let me know he was on his way. He showed up on time and did a thorough investigation of what the issue was. It wasn’t something that was covered but he told me how I could get it resolved. I was able to do that based on the information I received from him. Everything went great and so was the contractor that came out. I was completely happy with the experience with AHS and would recommend them.

My ac's compressor quit and I submitted a claim by phone to American Home Shield. Because it's for an air conditioner, I had a specific company that I like to come out and do it because they’ve been doing all of my air conditioner work for years. They inspect my unit twice a year. They know me, the unit and I get a faster service from them. They come out very fast and they’ve always done a very good job. They're always fair. This time in the winter time when the air conditioner went out AHS was able to expedite. They’re very fast. But last year, when one my air conditioners went out they were very slow. But overall, AHS is worth the money that I spend on it. I've been with them for 20 years and I recommend them to most of my friends.

My dryer was not coming on at all. I called in a claim with AHS and I had a very positive interaction with their reps. Their professionalism was fine on the phone and they went through the process. They got me organized quickly. I called them on a Saturday and they got me a service person out on the same day. But later, the contractor, Meyagie's Services, called back and said they couldn’t get out there in time. So, they asked if Sunday morning would work and I agreed. It seemed as though the technician saw an opening that really didn’t exist or otherwise that opening, for some reason or another, couldn’t be made. But they called back in a fairly timely manner.
The technician came out at 9 o’clock on Sunday morning and he was pretty good. He went through all the steps including the diagnosing like I was supposed to do. He also had to go out and get a part, the thermal fuse. He found some place that was open on Sunday to get it, then he came back and installed it. So, it took about two-and-a-half hours to complete. Everything has been good since the repair.

Every time we call American Home Shield, it ends up costing me more than the policy's worth. With the slab leak, it took them over a week to do it and I spent an extra $1,000 for it. We didn't have water 'cause the first company that they called said they couldn't do it until Wednesday. Unfortunately, we were having a party for New Year's eve and needed the hot water. So, they were able to get APC who came out and did a great job. The problem is I wasted probably four or five hours waiting on the phone to get a hold of people to get it fixed. American Home Shield could do a better job at the front end, whether it comes over the online service or the telephone.

I had a minor plumbing issue that could have been fixed in 1 hour. Their contractor issued a spurious diagnosis that elevated the cost to 5X what the real solution would have cost, plus another $500 out of pocket expenses. AHS was extremely unresponsive to look into the matter, taking me several calls and long wait times to get a hold of someone. They then transferred me back and forth with different departments and never solved the issue. I tried speaking to their contractor about it and they turned out even less responsive than AHS. In a few words, if the contractor they send tries to overcharge you, you better pay what they say or expect to spend hours on the phone to try to get someone to fix the issue. After 2 weeks of waiting, I had to hire a private contractor that fixed the problem for far less than what AHS and their contractor were charging.

I called AHS for a service repair on Dec. 23. They took my information and when I didn't hear from them within 24 hrs. I called back. The person I spoke with on Dec. 24 had no record of my previous call and I had to start the process over again. They recommended Ace Appliance. I called Ace Appliance as soon as the order was requested and got their voicemail. No one from Ace Appliance called back on Dec. 24. So, I called AHS on Dec. 26 and was put on hold for 33 minutes. The customer service representative who answered the call stated the profile for Ace Appliance indicated that they did not work on Holidays, however, Dec. 26 was not a holiday and as of 12:06 pm that day, I hadn't heard from them.
In the meantime, I read the reviews for Ace Appliance and they were by far all negative in terms of their technicians and timeliness to requests. So, when I called AHS on Dec. 26, I requested another more reputable technician to do the work. The customer service representative went about setting this up and requested that I pay for the upcoming service call upfront. When I requested paying for the service call after the technician came, the AHS customer service representative Justine, hung up and didn't call back.
I am extremely upset and disappointed with AHS because their customer representatives are poorly trained as are the substandard companies/technicians that they recommend to provide for the services in your home. I then went online to request service rather than talk to a inept customer service representative and the soonest service for the refrigerator repair is January 4. Consequently, I will have to throw out all the food in my refrigerator for nearly two weeks from my initial call. This is outrageous. For the cost of the policy, l expect much better customer service, better repair response and quality technicians. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I’ve had AHS for a few years now and I’m normally very pleased with the service. However this time was not a pleasant experience. I did an online request for service on Sunday 12/22 roughly about 10:30 am. I was called by the assigned contractor (Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning) within the hour, at that time the contractor informed me that unless I pay an additional cost of $50 I wouldn’t be serviced until Wednesday because AHS doesn’t cover weekend calls or holiday calls.
It’s winter and it’s freezing in my home so I agreed and immediately called AHS back to verify if that was true. I was told by the rep that they would pick up the fee because the temps will drop low on Monday evening so that will allow them to expedite the service to get a tech out today. Hospitality’s rep let me know a tech would arrive today as well. The tech finally arrived at 4:30-45ish and quirky diagnosed the problem. He checked his truck for the part and said he didn’t have the correct part but would be sure to come back out with it tomorrow (Monday 12/24) after several calls in to AHS, Hospitality Heating and the techs direct line. The tech never came back.
My final call into AHS at 6:25pm a rep told me that she spoke with Hospitality’s answering service and the office was now closed until after the holiday on Wednesday. She also advised me that I could purchase portable heaters and I could be reimbursed, but by this time all stores are closed and that wouldn’t be possible. I’m highly disappointed in the service I received from this assigned contractor. This company left me and my family cold for 3 days without any contact even after several attempts on my end. If only Hospitality Heating’s reps would have reached back out to me and simply let me know what was happening. It’s the holiday weekend so that in itself left me with little to no options.

My washer broke down in November and I was very dissatisfied with the length of time it took for the vendor to repair. They scheduled me super late. The technician had to come back in two weeks to get the part and when he got there, he was lickety-split, quick in getting the work done, and the washing machine duct works well now.
American Home Shield itself has been very responsive and quick in terms of when I have a need, but I'm just concerned with the vendors that they are using. I called American Home Shield on the last week of December for the dryer. I went out of town and my mom was there when the technician came and repaired it. He did it in one day. The tech cleaned the hose and moved it out from the wall and said that was why it was not drying. But my mom told me that the dyer was still not drying, so I placed the service call when I got back. I'm waiting to hear back from the vendor that was assigned to me on how they can come back and repair it. I've been with American Home Shield for over 20 years and this was the first time that I had any issue with their vendor. The next time I have a service call and I experience something like my recent experience, I will need to find out what is different and what is happening that I'm not getting good service from the vendors.

I told them my water heater was not working and my roommate was having a fit. I needed it done faster, and I was told that they were within the timeframe allowed. So I said, “Well, I understand that, but all I’m asking, would you please give me somebody else?”
Finally, the rep sent somebody else and that person came within about 45 minutes. He was very nice, and he explained to me what he thought was happening. He reset the button on it and then put a new heating element in it. And now, it’s not working again. So I’ve been calling them for two days to get them to come back out again. I called yesterday, and there was no return call. And then, I just got off the phone about three minutes ago, and left them another message that I haven’t heard back from them. He told me that somebody from the past warranty claim we had put on it had installed the wrong motor, and it was spinning too fast. Over time, it was just gonna wear down.
Hunter told me he was gonna go get the motor from the shop. He went to the shop, got the motor, and he even told me he was gonna inspect the blade to make sure the blade was still good. After spinning so fast for so long, the motor might’ve become warped or the blade itself might just be dulled, so it might not be working to its full capacity. He checked everything out and he was able to take care of everything in one day. We haven't had a problem since. In the past, the old company American Home Shield used for anything related to HVAC was based out of a town, and was about 45 to 55 minutes away. He looked at it and it needed a new gasket inside but because of the type of toilet it is, they had to be ordered from Kohler. As soon as the parts came in, they came back and installed it and it was done quickly. The other companies offer better rates on their service calls than AHS though. But other than that, everything worked out well with AHS and I was happy. I would recommend AHS.

Our heater was not working. I submitted the claim for repair with American Home Shield online and navigating through their website was easy for me. They told me that I would get a response within 24 hours The only mix-up was that when I contacted them, I put in a different phone number from the one listed in the system. The contractor, A&R Complete Services, came out and took care of our heater, and we had a pleasant interaction. Their tech was very thorough and communicative, and explained everything as he was doing the repair. I'm very pleased. So far, everything has been operating well since the repair and we're still warm. I got two repairs in the past years, so our AHS warranty has been worth the money so far.

The export tube on the air conditioner got clogged up. It flooded my attic and ruined three ceilings, and it was really bad. I called American Home Shield and told them what happened. I told them that I had no heat and I needed some help. The issue affected the electricity on one side of the house because the water had been leaking and it went down in the walls, and we had quite a mess. It took AHS about a week to send someone out from Comfort First Heating and Cooling, Inc. and the service provided by the techs was excellent. They were professional and helpful. They sat down, talked to me about what was going on, and told me what they saw. Then they went in, blew out the clogged line, and fixed it. It was my third claim this year and everybody that AHS has sent this year has been outstanding. Also, I have been recommending AHS to everybody around me.

I used to sell real estate in St. Louis and I know how good American Home Shield is and so, I bought their policy for myself. I called them when the whole east side of this one level condominium unit was without power. I thought it was a simple thing but it went on for a week and two days, and the electrician who I had here prior to AHS’ contractor couldn't find the issue.
AHS sent Ideal Electric out and they were here for three hours on the first day then nearly eight hours on the second day before the tech found it. The guy had to take every plug out of the wall to try to find where the wire was broken. Of course, the last plug was where he found it. And then he got my power back on. Everything’s working perfectly now. He was a miracle man. He was also prompt, thorough and clean - he picked up after himself. I told him I was gonna tell everybody how good they were. Also, the man who runs the shop, the one who calls customers, was very nice. He followed up with a phone call and he sent messages, like when my guy was on the way. It was really silver service.
I have one complaint though. One time, when I tried to get help from AHS, I decided to do it on a computer. Somehow, another warranty company had picked up my name and they called and sent me emails. I told them to take my name off the list. So, needless to say, I will never use the computer to order a service call because that's how they picked it up. Nevertheless, I know that AHS works.
Thank you for your positive feedback, Mary. We appreciate your patronage!

I filed an online with AHS and it was super easy. The downstairs wasn't heating. Except for one room, the system was blowing cool everywhere else. The contractor they had responded back really fast with a text message. The service was fast. It took them a couple of hours to take care of the problem. They did a great job and their timeliness impressed me. Plus, they were very knowledgeable about what they were working on. The heating has been fantastic since the repair. I'd be renewing with AHS.
