I had a short in my electricity and all my appliances in my kitchen seemed to be going out and looked defective. I do my claims on my phone. If I go to my saved documents, I just hit American Home Shield. The password automatically comes up and I submit my claim. It's very easy. As a new subscriber to American Home Shield, I have to get used to that process because I didn't know what my problems were. I didn't know it was my electricity.

I would recommend American Home Shield. Their service guys that have come out to my home were very professional, knowledgeable, and quick. With my electricity problem, a person from Elite Electrical Solutions came out and replaced the breaker in my kitchen. The only problem that I have with American Home Shield is I think $100 is a lot of money to pay every time somebody comes to your home. One of the things that attracted me to the company is that my sister and my friend who highly recommended the American Home Shield to me don't pay that high. I have already paid for the whole year and four times for technicians. Most of the time when the technicians came out, the problem that they saw were solved in less than 20 minutes. That was what I was paying $100 each time for. Other than that, everything has been excellent.

I like American Home Shield. It's not expensive. I've had it for three years now and when I have any trouble, they answer faster. At one time, it was 10 days, but mostly, it's one or two days. I feel good about the contractors that they send too. However, when the spring in my garage door was broken, the technician said my issue is not covered. American Home Shield just covers everything electric on my electric garage and not the spring, the door nor the metals. So, I paid for somebody to fix my garage. Still, I'm really happy with American Home Shield. I've told my family and my friends about them.

My toilet wasn’t flushing correctly so I submitted a claim online to AHS. Their site was pretty simple. The contractor called me the day I submitted the claim to set up an appointment. Then the day of the appointment, he texted me 45 minutes before, and then he showed up. He came in, he looked at it, he did whatever he does. And then went back out to the car, called American Home Shield, and then submitted the report but it ended up not being covered what was wrong with it. This is my second time using AHS. The first time I used them, I had a leaking pipe underneath the house, and then the contractor they sent me couldn’t come for four days, so I called AHS and they got somebody out there the next morning. So, it was a pretty good experience.

My dishwasher was making grinding sounds every time we turned it on. It was really bad. I submitted a claim through an app that has a link to them. The next business day, somebody contacted me and they had someone out within a week. The technician who came out was fantastic. Although the main guy was training another gentleman, they were both courteous, quiet, and very clean. They told me what they needed for repairs, and he fixed the part that hadn’t been broken yet.

However, he said the washer sleeve was getting super thin and it’s gonna end up going in the next three months. So, he went ahead and fixed that for me too. Since they came out, I haven't had any problems with the dishwasher. Having a warranty in your property is not just valuable, it lets you have peace of mind knowing that if something goes wrong, you have the option to have your appliance looked at without costing you an absolute fortune. I've used American Home Shield because it's easy to file claims and it's reasonable for the services that had been done. I'd strongly recommend them.

I’ve been very happy with American Home Shield. I submit claims over the phone and the only problem I have is the service in terms of calling and getting someone on the other end to respond. It’s a headache. Otherwise, the service has been excellent. Although it took two days for Metro Air to contact me when I had a problem with the thermostat, it was Christmas so I could understand why. The battery was dead and I did replace the battery but a panel was loose and the technician took care of that. Everything is working fine now. The technician was very knowledgeable and he sings quite well too. He sings as he works.

A pipe was leaking in the utility room and we had Perfect Plumbing come out to take care of that. But as a result of the repair, we had a slight issue with a valve in the water heater, which caused a pressure therein. The contractor came back though and he fixed both of those and everything worked out fine. There was also a little delay on the contractor getting here, but that was a miscommunication between their office and the actual technician that came out to the house. Another thing is that we were being billed for a service fee, which has already been resolved, and every time I called to put in a service ticket, it showed the outstanding $100 fee within my account. That needs to be addressed. Nevertheless, the contractor American Home Shield sent was quite efficient and he did good work.

I submitted a claim for my heat pump and the website was good. It gets right to the point. I had a very quick response too. That was good. When the first guy came out, he replaced a couple of things and the unit was running fine for about two days but then it started acting up again. He came back out, checked something and replaced something else. Then it was running good for a couple days. This time, they sent a senior technician and he said he thought it was low on Freon. But my system had frozen over. He can't really check it until it thaws so we've been waiting for that and he's supposed to come back tomorrow.

The repair has been going on for about three weeks and eventually, the issue is gonna really affect me. The electric bill's gonna go through the roof. Nonetheless, everything has been real good with American Home Shield. When I call them, the people come the next day or that same day if I call them early enough in the morning. I haven't had a problem.

I also haven't had any problem in submitting claims. The last time I used them, I went to the website and it was very easy. Using the website takes a little bit longer ‘cause I have to go through the menu but the experience is the same as when I call. Our heater was not blowing hot air and A-US Air Conditioning of Texas was sent out. I find them very proficient. I had a dryer issue before that and the contractor was also very proficient. We've had American Home Shield on our house for 14 years now and I haven’t had bad experience with any of the contractors that I’ve used through the years with them. We once had another insurance before, but there were too many problems and a lot of phone calls, and they didn't provide good service. But now, we're so happy with AHS. The water heater wasn’t heating and the water would only be very lukewarm. I called American Home Shield and the customer service person took my information and told me that the contractor would contact me within 48 hours and they did. The plumber was a little late to the appointment but they called, so that was okay. The plumber wasn’t really sure what to do with it, so he drained it and then, we let it refill back up. There was a box on it to set it to vacation mode and he changed that so that it wasn’t in that vacation mode anymore. That made the water heater kick back in.

AHS is a good program if you end up needing it. They were responsive. It didn’t really save us any money though. There wasn’t anything wrong with our equipment, so we didn’t gain anything by having the warranty in this scenario. But I imagine if there would have been a problem with our water heater that would require parts, the warranty would have saved us. If I have a house that a lot of things could go wrong, then it’s worth it. But I’m not a big supporter of home warranties. I still ended up paying $75 for somebody to come out, so it wasn’t a great thing for me.

A guy then contacted me the next day and he told me that he would be out the following day. However, he didn't come and he never called. I called American Home Shield again and they got somebody out the very next day, which I liked. That guy did what he had to do and he fixed the problem. My problem with the icemaker has been going on for almost two months now. The people that American Home Shield had sent out tried to diagnose several different issues and replace parts but it’s still not resolved. I also have another open issue for my master bedroom Jacuzzi bathtub, which is leaking from the motor. I’m trying to get that motor replaced. That one has been over two months now. Every time I talk to somebody, and they say that it’s not covered, I tell them they need to reread the contract and they ended up coming to a conclusion that I am right and it is covered. And then when I have to call back again and get somebody else, they’re singing the same song and dance with it not being covered. I told them that if they were to check on the notes, I already spoke to somebody two days before who educated themselves and found out that it is covered.

It’s ridiculous that I pay for a service and it becomes like pulling teeth to get them to uphold their end of the bargain and repair the things that I have paid to have insured. The contractors also don’t like dealing with the homeowners’ warranty companies because the homeowner warranty companies mess around with them as well. They don’t wanna commit themselves to doing much work because they’re worried that the home warranty company is not gonna pay them what they should be paid. And so, I’m not extremely pleased with the service that I get from paying for a home warranty.

American Home Shield was with the house when I bought it so I just kept AHS because I’ve had it before in Texas. I had company during Christmas. We were taking showers and my daughter-in-law went in there and said I ran out of hot water. I called American Home Shield and told them I needed somebody to check the hot water tank. It was great with their rep on the phone and they sent somebody out. The tech told me what was happening and he replaced a huge long tube that was inside the hot water tank. But it seemed like my hot water wasn’t staying as long as usually when I’m taking a shower. It's a little odd. Other than that, American Home Shield is great for somebody that owns a home and is, maybe, a single female.

A knob on my cooktop burned. I called American Home Shield's customer care and requested for an appointment with the appliance specialist. It was holiday time, so it took around five days to get a contractor out, but I had good interactions with the rep I spoke with and the contractor. He checked what was wrong with the cooktop, and he said that it was common, and that he placed the order for the switches. And then they arrived after a week to install it.

The problem had been resolved, but then, one of the gas line broke when he was fixing that switch. He ordered the part yesterday for the replacement of the gas line. It will get fixed starting next week also. When the stove was not working, it was impossible to cook anything. So, the repair helped a lot. I would recommend people to have a warranty, especially if they’re buying a new home so that they know how things are. It will be an investment. And if something goes wrong, they can get it fixed easily.

Navigating the website was good but you just locate from the checkbox what the issue is. I would like to give them more information in their system and I couldn't do that. There was no text box and I just had to select the option that they gave. AHS sent the contractor after three days. It happened over the Christmas break and everything went smoothly. However, when those gentlemen helped me to fix the leak, they had to cut through the drywall. I loved navigating through their website especially since it was Christmas Eve and I knew I wasn't gonna get a person for a couple of days. It was Tuesday when it went out and I was contacted on late Wednesday afternoon. They had 5 Star Air Quality out before noon on Friday. The contractor was great. First, he opened up the water heater and asked us some questions about what we were noticing. Then, he took it apart, took the bottom mechanism out, looked at some parts, tested some things and determined that it was the thermocouple that needed to be changed. So, he changed that and it started working. He had to go get a part but the work time was in less than an hour. Since then, the water heater has been working perfectly.

The bottom of the water heater rotted out and we needed a new one. I’d rather call American Home Shield when I submit a claim with them, but even though I call, I don’t talk to anybody. The issue with the water heater was an emergency. All the water was leaking into our garage. And all AHS did was like an automated service, and it asked what the problem was, and then they reported it to Central Valley Plumbing. But that still didn’t get anybody out here right away. AHS should have a setup where I could speak with somebody and not go through the automated system if it’s an emergency and the issue needs to be looked at right away. That happened to be on a Saturday right before Christmas. But I was lucky because this is a small town, and the guy that owns Central Valley Plumbing is my neighbor’s brother. So, I called my neighbor, and he called his brother who then came right out.

Also, when I had a pipe leaking in our kitchen, the contractor didn’t do the whole job. AHS sent a guy out to do the drywall, and then he got done. I asked him, "Aren't you gonna paint it?” And he said that they don’t do that. So, I had to drive an hour to a Home Depot, buy some paint and then drive back home. I ended up spending 60 bucks out of my pocket just to paint a small 12-inch square drywall.

I have a leaking gas cook range - American Home Shield has sent 2 contractors out to fix the problem. Both of the contractors did not return to fix the issue. I just got notified a 3rd contractor will be coming out. This means I have had to take 3 mornings off work to meet them. I have tried to talk to customer service - after waiting over one hour on 2 occasions the customer service folks were disconnected as soon as I explained the issue. (They may have just hung up!) The last contractor to visit me turned off the gas to my stove and now I can't even cook dinner! I am now waiting on the line to repeat my issue yet again - it's been 20 minutes so far waiting to speak to a representative... Bad, bad, bad, service.

HVAC no heat since 1/10 and counting - I have this home warranty to help with large costs when things go wrong. We received yet another astonishing electric bill. We keep our thermostat on 67 degrees in the winter, and only run it when necessary. Our electric company ran some diagnostic tests and found out it's costing us roughly 50$ a DAY to run our heat. (Do the math 50 x 31 days in this billing period.) So I shut off the heat (Thursday at noon) and scheduled for a contractor to come out. They took our 100$ fee, and we had not heard anything from the contractor.

He first took the job Friday and said he would be here Monday; then our home warranty company called and cancelled the appointment (Saturday), so I had to call and call until they remade the appointment. He finally called me a few minutes ago and said "there is no point in me coming out, the HVAC is old, should have replaced it 8 years ago." (We bought the house 2 years ago.) I had to beg him. He said " the company won't replace it, and I can't fix it, it's old; but I guess I'll come out." My contract specifically said if it is malfunctioning and can not be fixed it is to be replaced. WHAT DO I DO? I can't afford 50$ a day, how does that not concern anyone? We haven't had heat since Thursday because I can't afford it.

Home warranty referral though American Home Shield for broken ceiling fan. Had a horrible time setting up an appointment and called American Home Shield to complain.

Arc Electric finally contacted me and an appointment was set. They did come out and look at the ceiling fan. Told me that it was unrepairable and they would submit a report to American Home Shield for replacement. Approximately two weeks went by and I never heard anything. Attempted to contact Arc Electric. No response as usual. Contacted American Home Shield and they said they hadn't received any type of submission from Arc Electric regarding the ceiling fan. Also attempted to contact Arc Electric with no response. The contractor didn't keep his word and submit a claim. They are no good and offer very poor customer service. Waste of my life and time. I'm also disappointed in American Home Shield because clearly they know this is an issue since other customers have had the same experience and yet they continue to refer people to them. You should be ashamed of yourself Arc Electric and also American Home Shield.

There was nothing wrong at the time of sale, but a couple of months later the buyer called to say they were have problems with the control panel that runs the pool. I told them to call the insurer. He did and they told them in the fine print, they do not cover any pool electronics. I never saw the small print and even today I don’t see it on their website. What pool runs without electronics? Our original heating boiler started leaking propane. It wasn't working and we had to use our heat pump to keep the house warm. Submitting the claim for it with American Home Shield was a little bit long and drawn out process. We put in a request at the end of November, and then we got it all completed after Christmas. A part of that was because we had a 95% efficiency boiler put in and there was a lot of learning curve, which took time. Also, the prices were increased to help cover the cost and we still had to pay roughly about 70% of the cost of the boiler. We appreciate American Home Shield for helping, but it still was a pretty big hit. Other than that, the contractors that I worked with were always friendly and helpful.

Then it went down and back up a bit again. My son came home, he held in the automatic button and it finally went down. It seemed to be that it was gonna be a problem. We needed to have that door closed especially at night. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield, online. They're very prompt and I was happy with that. I had someone from Precision Door Service come out here. The technician they sent out did a good job. However, I was disappointed that AHS paid nothing, and I ended up paying $300 and some to them out of pocket. I already paid $109, and the guy who came said, "It pays to read what they cover and what they don’t cover."

I’m not gonna renew AHS. Every time we had anybody come out for the AC problems, they sent a different company. AHS should just stick with the same company and build a relationship with that company, instead of using the cheapest one they can find every time. Then customers wouldn't have to explain to each one what the last one did. AHS should also use companies local to the area.

When the electrical was not working on our rental, the contractor from J.A.M Electric reached out right away to me. That was really good. We went in to do some work on the rental and get it ready. But he came out and couldn’t find anything. And once we worked on some things, the electrical seemed to work. We've had American Home Shield for 14 years now and the quality of work performed by their contractors for us over the years have been okay. They still obviously fix things when I think certain things need to be repaired. I also used to really like the marketing they had for their service but I'm not as big on the one they have now.

AHS arranged to have service personnel the next day, which was better than I expected based on some of the reviews I’ve seen. When that contractor came out, they needed to order a part. The part came in less than a week, which I was okay with. Since the heater got repaired, everything has been fine. The service person was pleasant, efficient, effective and timely. The timeline was better than what I expected to which I was glad about the experience. This is my first experience in needing an appliance replaced, and AHS handled it promptly.

He was very good, nice and sweet. I’m in a wheelchair and he told me not to worry about shutting the door. Most people would tell me to close the door, but he told me to just stay right there. He locked it for me and shut it when he left. He was very concerned. The dryer has been very good since he came out. It turns on and it dries my clothes.

I have never had any problem with American Home Shield. My water heater had a leak and their contractor came in, found the problem and fixed it. I keep telling anybody about them, like the people who moved in. They asked me who do I get to fix whatever breaks 'cause they know I couldn’t do it. I told them that I call my home repair company. They asked how much do I pay and I told them that what I pay and what they pay will be two different things and that they have to pay a price upfront for the contractor to come out. They said that they liked that. I've given American Home Shield's number out quite a few times.

I really liked to do it online, but for some reason, I was very confused about the website that I had to call them. I've been a customer for two times already, and they kept the old accounts online. That was why the claim was not going through. And then, when I called, the rep looked me up and she found the right account number. I had to get it from her and save it on my phone for the next time that I will call.

American Home Shield's representatives are very nice and responsive and they schedule things, but I would appreciate if they can do the scheduling a little bit faster. I always submit my claims to American Home Shield online since it’s very simple and easy to use. The technicians that AHS send look professional but most of the time, they don’t go too deep in the problem. They try to fix it quickly and usually, the problem comes back again and again and that is a concern. The icemaker of the freezer had an issue recently and the technician scheduled the appointment, came in and fixed the icemaker. However, that was the first time AHS took more time to send the technician. Usually, the company would call in 24 hours but that time, during the holidays, it took three days.

Here in Houston, the temperature is 100 degrees and I have kids at home. If the AC is broken in the middle of summer, there's no option to ask for an emergency situation when they can send somebody in hours. So, I always need to wait for at least a couple of days. Imagine how we can survive in the house with 100 degrees outside and no AC. This can also happen during winter, when it’s below zero and there is no heater.

What a horrible experience. I truly believe American Home Shield goes out of their way to deny claims and not respond to their customers. A long story, but here we go: Since 1996, we've owned our home in Delaware. We've had our oil heater serviced yearly by a local company we trust. In fact, just this past December we had the heater serviced. (We have all documentation for this.) Just this past August, we moved to Philadelphia to be closer with our son and his baby. We rented out the home and decided to purchase American Home Shield's (AHS) 3x3 combo plan. On January 8th, our tenants told us the heater wasn't working. We submitted an online claim and were told the local Delaware company, Family Heating and Cooling would come out. They did the next day.

Two days passed and despite us calling both Family Heating and Cooling we were not able to get a hold of anyone from the company. We also called AHS multiple times (with phone and chat waits of more than an hour) and were told different information from different agents. One customer service rep from AHS said they were not able to get a hold of anyone from the local service provider. Another said they did and someone would come out the next day.

Another day passed without heat in our home, and so this afternoon, my husband spoke with Edmund via chat from American Home Shield. Edmund said he was finally able to get a hold of the service provider from Family Heating and Cooler who said the issue with the heater was due to improper maintenance. Edmund said we would have to pay $300 for the service provider to come back out and repair the unit. This is an outright lie. The unit has been meticulously maintained. My husband told Edmund we wanted another service provider to come out and that this was an emergency since it has now been 4 days without heat in the middle of winter. He said no one was available until Monday. I told him I wanted my plan canceled and I would get the work done through a trusted company.

DO NOT PURCHASE A WARRANTY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. This company does not work with honest contractors and will not respond quickly to serious emergencies with your home's equipment. I recommend putting the money you'd spend on a warranty in a savings account and just hiring your own contractors to do the work if/when something breaks. AMERICAN HOME SHIELD IS A SCAM!

We had a few issues with townhomes that we rented out and every time we made a claim, American Home Shield got back to us quickly. We also just bought a house and there was something with the wax seal on the toilet. It flooded our floors so we filed a claim and that was really easy. My husband did it over the phone and it was right over the weekend. We filed it on a Friday and they got back to us on Monday. Peter’s Plumbing and Backflow came out pretty quickly and they were really helpful in fixing the problem. The technician was also quick and really nice so everything was good.

My washer was not emptying the water correctly. I called American Home Shield and I was given a timeframe when Sears would come out. The technician called and was here during the time and was extremely professional and got everything taken care of. He had to change a piece that was just not good. It was keeping the spin cycle from reaching it to full potential. There have been no problems since the repair.

Generally, this warranty has been good. I find that sometimes, the time lag between the reporting of a problem and the actual correction of the problem is concerning and delayed. I have other situations where it takes the person a while to get back with me. One time, it took them a while to get heater. Then, American Home Shield wasn't happy with what they said, so they referred me to another person. And that has not been good. I'm not happy about that. But with this technician from Sears, I reported the problem and they got in touch with me right away. They set up the date, they showed up, and they did everything.

The last two times I called American Home Shield, they said my issues were not covered. I was then very reluctant to get them on this house because they seemed to find a reason not to cover things on other ones. They won't cover items unless you have a home inspection that says that that particular item was working when you bought the house, but they do not tell you that upfront. However, my sister, who is a realtor, talked me into continuing with them -- I've had them before. Most recently, Sears came out and replaced the vent fan in our refrigerator. I submitted the claim for it online with AHS. I paid the $100 fee online, too, and they contacted me back with a representative and we set up the appointment. They came out and serviced the refrigerator in about four days.

They came and fixed it, but the problem was not fixed right. So, they have to came the second time to do it. And by doing that, they ended up putting a lot of holes in my house. I didn’t know that they just do a rough finish and never have to put finishing paint. So, I have to end up paying again to finish the painting and smooth the walls because they put too many holes.

I called AHS and then they told me that if they send a plumber or technician out to the house and they end up making a hole, they would only put the wall back, but no finishing and no painting. I told them that was not good because the house was fine. But everything is working fine since then. And also, they cover everything that they say they cover in the house.

I also had a leak at the hose connection at the wall and so I needed to have somebody fix that. I called AHS and reported that I needed a plumber. He was able to resolve it in one visit and the disposal has been working good since the repair. However, I filed a complaint as I overpaid because they kept charging my card but I kept pressing back and forth. So, I called them since they have not refunded my money and since I still had the thing, I could not put a claim until I pay the past due balance. I had no choice but to repay the money when it was their mistake. I returned the money so I can put up a claim.

It has been going on since December and they told me it was gonna take about three to seven business days for them to resolve with the billing department. But they didn’t ‘because I paid $100 two days ago and then I saw they charged me again the $49 which they shouldn’t because they charged my card three times last month. I tried reaching out to them but they do not pick up their phone calls. Their customer service is bad and we are better off doing things online. I submitted a claim to AHS for my air conditioner. The issue I had was when I called there, it was a long wait. So I did the online thing. I told them I just needed someone to come out for the air conditioner. And they gave me the person, and I was like, "No, let me call and talk to someone," because when I called, I couldn't get a hold of who they told me that was gonna service my house. And it was already 30 degrees outside. So my house was cold, and it was supposed to stay that temperature overnight.

So then, I called right back less than 30 minutes. I talked to a lady who was very rude and would not help me. I asked if I could I talk to a supervisor so I could get this escalated because I needed someone to come out to my house that day. She just put me back in rotation instead of having me speak with a person. So then I called back again. I hung up and had to call right back again. I talked to the last lady who told me there was nothing they could do, I just had to wait until Tuesday. And I was like, "I'm supposed to freeze overnight because y'all can't send somebody out to come and fix my heater. And I'm paying y'all for a service." When I talked to the vendor, he said just call AHS back. And they said to have them escalate it, so they could come out that day. So when I tried to call AHS back and ask them to escalate it, they wouldn't. She said that was against their timeline. They couldn't escalate us, so we were supposed to just sit here and freeze.

I usually call AHS when I submit a claim, so I know who the vendor they're gonna use. I usually like them to send back the ones that had come out and done good service because there were a couple of their vendors that I didn't like. AHS should let me pick the vendor I want. Or if it's an emergency, they should have ways for you to say, "This is emergency. This needs to be done today," versus I have to wait until the next day or three days later.

My garbage disposal quit working. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and it was easy. Most of the time, I submit a claim online. The techs who came out were good, clean and they took care of business right away. I've had a hot water heater replaced. They did a good job there 'cause before I got the home warranty, I called Home Depot who were terrible in their pricing. They quoted a low price, but then the guy came out and said they'd have to do this and that, and then the price just went way up.

Having American Home Shield is a good deal. The price is good for a whole year for the warranty, and every time I've called, they’ve gotten my problem fixed. However, I had a problem with my garage door not opening. The people who came weren’t that great. First, they said it was the batteries, which I already tried. And then they went and got a new remote, and then they figured out it wasn’t the remote, it was the motherboard inside the opener. And the thing that I didn’t like was with the new garage door openers. I didn’t get to keep those. The tech took those with him and I thought that was kind of silly. But that was the only issue that I had with American Home Shield and other than that, it has been really nice.

I put three service requests in with American Home Shield. Sure Temp came out for the heating and they were wonderful. The lady called within an hour of contacting AHS, and she had her husband out there the next day and he put in a new thermostat. He was very fast, professional and neat in putting the service on that end. When the thermostat wasn’t working, either the heat was on all the time or the air conditioning was on all the time. But the new thermostat regulates all of that, and everything is working fine now. Another contractor, however, didn’t contact me for a week and a half after New Year’s, but they're kind to come out on February 1st to look at the microwave.

The third service request was for a plumber, and I still don’t have anything. I still need a plumber and AHS is having a hard time getting one. I’m in New York, and it has to be until February 1st because then I’ll go to another part of Arizona. I told AHS when I made the appointment that I have a tank-less water heater, and the girl said they understood that. AHS contacted the plumber and I called them after New Year’s. But the plumber contacted AHS and told them he doesn’t work on tank-less water heaters, so they never even checked it. He cancelled with AHS, and AHS never let me know until I called AHS and the plumber.

AHS was supposed to verify their contractor before they contacted him to contact me. I even instructed them and told them they would have to make sure because not every plumber works on tank-less water heaters. AHS said that they would send another plumber, Riverside Plumbing out of Riverside, California. They’ve supposedly opened up a branch in Tempe and they were supposed to contact me about taking care of my problems with my tank-less water heater. Now, we’re waiting for the other plumber.

The contractor called on the day that I submitted the claim and we made an appointment for them to come out. The contractor was nice, but we had to call them to come out three times. They had to fix the motherboard to figure out why one side of the ref wasn’t working. Then, when they got that done, the other side of the ref went out. AHS sent Rapp's Heating and AC and the tech wasn't able to get the unit fixed as it needed a replacement board. What he did instead was he temporarily set the unit up so that when we put in emergency heat - when the thermostat says, “It’s time to get warm” - it would automatically turn on. I recently filed an online claim for the gas furnace and navigating through the website was great. The contractor called the same day and came out the next day. They ran into a few snags though. They haven’t totally alienated the problem but they think they have it this time and they ordered some parts.

I had my washer fixed and there were some pros and cons about it. The pro is that they responded quickly when I initially filed the claim and they assigned somebody within 24 hours. The con however, the repairman took a week minimum to come over and diagnose the problem. We use the appliances at home all the time, so a week is too long. And when they came over, they said they had to order the part. It took 10 days for the part to arrive and they called me but they said it was the wrong part.

So, it took another week after that for them to get the right part to come over and fix it. That's about 20 days. And these are parts that are readily available. They could've said, "Look, it takes a week for the part to arrive. However, I can FedEx that next day and the guy can be over the next day, but it will be at a $5 or $15 surcharge." I suggest that they give the clients the option to pay that surcharge and get their stuff fixed in two days, instead of waiting 20 days for a repair. Other than that, American Home Shield is pretty great.

When we submit a claim to American Home Shield, we either call in or do it online. Their website is sufficient but it's not great. It would be better if we can type in more information about what the issue is, as well as make requests or comments so that the person coming out is fully prepared. While the contractors they sent out were able to complete the task, some have been a little dismissive, which is disheartening and it wastes time. The refrigerator repair person and another plumber were great. But the time before that, we had a plumber for a toilet, and they were dismissive and made us feel like we didn’t know what we were talking about. Heating has not been so great also. Other than that, there was water leaking in one of our appliances and AHS was able to get DMV Pro Tech within 48 hours.

It was leaking worse than what it was before. So I had to call them back, and they came back and did what they were supposed to, and it was fine. The toilet was loose ad they made it stable. They fixed that one really well. The only thing that I didn’t like was that they took the leaking, but they didn’t change the hose. They left the same hose that I’ve had. But America Home Shield is great, and I like it.

The control knobs that adjust the heat on my oven were worn out. When I set the temperature, sometimes it doesn't come off and it’s hard to adjust. The tech from Premiere Appliance that was sent fiddled with it and he said that the heat is coming. I told him that there were some smoke and heat at the fan and that it was not supposed to be that way. He said that it was manageable and that AHS would have to order me the adjusted knobs. I sent AHS an email but I haven’t heard from them. All I’m waiting for are the control knobs. It’s not something that a technician is needed to put it in. I can put it in but I cannot even get it. I’m at a point where I’m gonna eventually consider to buy my own knobs.

Also, I had an issue with the compressor on the air conditioner, especially the outside unit and the way AHS operates is that the tech will come out and I pay a $100 deductible, and then, they will look at it. But I was not happy. Those guys were spending about three days to come back. Finally, I told them that I was gonna replace the compressor and we came to some agreement where they gave me the value of the compressor but it wasn’t even the compressor that had the issue. I decided to replace the unit with 6,000 out of my pocket.

It was cold and I turned on the heat, and it would never trigger on. You could hear the furnace trying to start, but it would never trip to blow hot air. So I gave American Home Shield a call and I sort of had an idea what it might have been, so I told them that on the phone. I wasn't able to do the claim online. It said I had an outstanding balance of $75 from a previous one where I had filed a claim and no one ever showed up. And the individual kept calling and delaying, so I just called Home Shield back and said, "Just cancel it.” And so, that ended up staying on. So, I couldn't do it online like I wanted to. I had to call and get it corrected for a second time over the phone. That probably was a negative to figure in these scheme of things, but everyone I talked to has always gotten things done quickly and courteously.

I submitted the claim late at night and A-US reached out via a call between 8:00 and 9:00 in the next morning. The contractor a nice guy. He was courteous and got all the things you hope for someone coming in to your house. He stopped by the shop, pick up a couple of things and it happened to be the right thing that he picked up. And he was in and out quickly. The igniter within the furnace was out, so he replaced that and it got up and running again. I'm happy overall with American Home Shield's service.

We’ve had American Home Shield for years. My mom has had it and I didn’t know it existed. When I told my mom we were having a problem, she told me about it and so then I was able to sign up for the online portal and be able to look at the contract. So now, I have an idea and I'm familiar with them. A couple of months ago, I had a plumbing issue and one guy came out. He wasn’t equipped to do the kinda job he identified. So, American Home Shield had to call another one and Josh, the technician, came out. He was local to me, so if I had an issue, he could swing by at the end of his day and re-address it. That experience was really good. However, I still don't have my second issue dealt with.

Half the power went out in our house. I was able to go online and request an appointment. American Home Shield said they’d contact me back. The next day, I still didn’t hear anything. So then I waited on hold for over an hour and they said that they would bump me up to priority since the bathrooms and all the bedrooms are out of power. The contractor came out on a Sunday. He said that the dimmer switch was going bad. That time, it was already working. He also told me a little bit of information. Then he said, “If you’re still having a problem, let me know. I’ll come back.” He seemed nice, but he didn't fix it. That night, we had the problem so I called the day after that. The man was supposed to come back out, but he never came.

So then, I called American Home Shield and I was on hold again for an hour. I told them that it's been a week and I'm still getting no response. I said that I don't wanna pay that $75 for someone and the issue is still not rectified. Then, somebody else had to come out. He was there for about 45 minutes identifying the issue. There’s a broken wire somewhere, but the guy didn't have the necessary equipment to be able to finish it. So, he would have his scheduler call me as they have to send somebody else for another appointment to where they can investigate where the broken wire in the wall is. A lady said that she was gonna call me back later that day to find out when somebody was gonna show up. No one called. She called me back a day and a half later to schedule somebody to come out to investigate it again. And here we are. This is going on the end of a two-week period.

Communicating with a representative over at American Home Shield is also challenging. If I have to call them, I need to make sure that I have to be by a phone for at least an hour. So, if I’m at home, I put them on speaker and I do my dishes. But I’ve got kids, a mother, and sports, so sometimes, it’s just too busy of a day to be waiting on hold for an hour to reach somebody. Chatting with somebody online wasn’t even an option until I hit a particular button and a chat window became available. So, while I was on hold at work, I was also chatting. And I got more done with chatting. Nobody ever came on the line through the whole chat process. So far, that has been the worst.

The heater was not heating properly and I submitted the claim online on the AHS website. Within an hour, Service Contractors of Texas reached out to me and scheduled an appointment. The contractor was very friendly, and he was quite experienced. In the beginning, he couldn't find the problem that persisted and eventually, he had to go on the roof. He had a short ladder, but he went anyway and he managed to get on to the roof, so I was very pleased. The capacitor of the compressor was bad, so he replaced it and now it's working well. I had a good experience.

AHS, however, always finds something that they don’t cover. I would prefer if they could have better coverage on certain things. With the AC, for example, when it’s not up to code, we have to pay more for some of the stuff. I had a problem in the past when I changed the water heater. The technician was not very good and had to come several times. Then when the inspector came, he said there was no drain pan installed. So I don't think the installation was done properly. It was not up to code. It was done two or three years ago and I just realized that this year. Now I have, again, a problem with the heater, and AHS won’t cover it. They were saying it’s not up to code, but it was them who had somebody install it.

We have a French door refrigerator and the centerpiece on the left-hand side that closes the door had cracked from the hinge. It was a very easy fix and it just needed to be replaced. We’ve had American Home Shield for nine years in this house and other years in our older house. As a recommendation from me as a consumer, American Home Shield needs to scrub their list a little. I have nothing against small, private vendors because I’ve had them come and they had been wonderful, but I’ve had two situations with the vendor, Country Care, where they never called and they never showed up.

I called AHS again and they sent Sears out. They were wonderful and there was no issue with them. However, I spent almost an hour on the phone one time because AHS charged me two $85 visits. I got an email notice saying, “Please pay your bill.” It had the date of 10/28 and it was the date for the Country Care, so I called back and was on hold for a very long time again. The young man spent a very long time and we got the issue resolved.

Then, I got a paper in the mail saying I still owe $85. The rep said something that the first gentleman did not. He was trying to transfer it over instead of giving me credit for the first $85 then recharging me. That may be wrong or it may be the reverse, where he should’ve transferred it over and not credited me, but he seemed to figure it all out. He was more knowledgeable than the first person. After that, I got a paper bill which I’m ignoring. I hope it’s all situated and taken care of.

Country Care was awful. In nine years, they have come out to our house several times in that time, but it seems to be the biggest problem right now. When I call, I usually try and get Sears, which is also known as A&E or Maytag, one of the larger vendors. But last year, it was obviously a family affair. They fixed our dishwasher and they did a good job2. It’s not that I am anti to private businesses, but I can’t be the only one that has complained about that one gentleman.

In the very first service call we got, the garbage disposal locked up. I did not know that I could get an Allen wrench, go under the bottom and turn it around three or four times and it would start working again. When the contractor came out, he did not tell me that. He got his Allen wrench out, turned it around and it started working. He was there for less than a minute and I had to pay him $75. I was hot about that. I called AHS and complained about it, but they said there was nothing they could do. I still wanted my money back because I felt like I got ripped off. The only time I get to use the warranty is when something breaks. If something doesn't break, I don't get to use it but I still gotta pay for it. I’m also not happy with the way AHS's prices keep going up.

The same garbage disposal recently stopped working, and American Home Shield had somebody come out to replace it. I submitted a claim for it over the phone, which was easy to do. The only problem I have is that when I talk to somebody on the phone, it's hard to understand the reps and sometimes they can be very rude. Nevertheless, the contractor who came out was very knowledgeable and nice. He explained the details and what it’s gonna take to keep it clean. He said that it had some rusting and that’s why it stopped working and started to burn out. He changed it out quickly and got it done in one visit.

American Home Shield's website has that little pop up and it usually pops up for a live person, but sometimes a live person to talk to is usually better because not everybody can talk as fast. I give my daughter permission to call them when she needs to, but she is deaf. So American Home Shield could have some more ESL or deaf reps. Online is one thing but it's because sometimes their language is a little different than what we speak. I tried to have my daughter do it one time, and they didn't understand what she was trying to say. They should also give an option to talk to somebody when a person submits a claim online.

The professionalism and knowledge of their contractor seemed pretty good. But I didn't like it when they kept having to call and reschedule so many times. It kept making a hard day a little bit harder and then finally, the washer broke down before they could fix it. We didn't have a place to wash our clothes. We had to go to the laundromat. We have one person here with medical necessity, so they need a little more care than others and that became an issue when we couldn't get them their clean clothes. When the contractor came for the dishwasher, they were able to fix it, but they didn't even realize that they had the work order for the washer. I had to remind them about it. It took over a month for them to finish off the job, so we were very frustrated. But everything is 100% now.

I had one leaking faucet in the bathroom and a couple of other faucets that were leaking inside. The screw was loose on one faucet. The Just Plumbing guy came for it and when he got in, he walked to the bathroom and did not even touch any of the faucets. He asked me to show the faucets and I did. He noted it down, directly went downstairs and connected the water pressure thing. He did not show me how much the pressure was and when I asked him to show it, he said he couldn’t. He wrote a report saying that it was a secondary damage and he doesn’t cover it. Then, he walked away.

I kept calling American Home Shield to get a report on what the limit was that he wrote on the report and one week later, there was no response from the Just Plumbing vendor. Finally, AHS sent a secondary vendor for a look up. On the report, there was only one faucet listed, so he said he was going to fix only one faucet which was fine. The technician fixed it and he was in and out in five minutes.

Submitting claims to AHS is easy but getting someone on the phone is very difficult. If I have to talk to someone, it takes half an hour to wait on the phone for that agent. By that time, the phone gets disconnected and you have to wait for another agent to come back on the line. I did not get a proper response three times because they didn’t have any information other than it states that the guy did not submit the report. All I was asking for was to show me the report, the reason why and the limits. So, if I had a running faucet for a week, my water will stay up.

There was one bad vendor that did not respond right or maybe the technician that was not professional but it finally got resolved. On the next report, there was only one listed so, I didn’t know where the gap was. Even the second report has changed. He showed me his work order because there was only one listed. The first time I found out who sent me the second person’s other review, it was fine and she understood my problems. At this point, I am mad and unhappy. It all depends on who you would get when you talk to someone.

The first contractor that came out seemed okay, but I don't think he had the experience as the second contractor that came out. The second contractor resolved the problem.

Our air conditioning unit wasn’t cooling. I submitted a service call request with AHS during an extended weekend, and I had no expectation of hearing back until the next business day. But they responded quickly during that weekend and were able to get it resolved much more quickly than I anticipated. The process of submitting the claim was very easy and straightforward. And it was comforting to have the information about who was coming. Family AC Service Solution came out and my wife was very pleased with them. The whole experience was very positive, much more so than when we were with a different agency. So we would very quickly reach out to American Home Shield for service on our investment properties.

Myers Comfort Specialist came out and replaced the air handler unit upstairs. It worked fine for about three weeks. Then we would wake up in the morning and notice the house was really cold. I'd walk over to the thermostat and I would see that it had flipped the breaker overnight. The new unit that they put up there was a little stronger than the older one and it kept flipping the breaker so they had to replace that electrical switch. They recently came out for that and once they fixed that, it's been perfect.

Claims with American Home Shield are normally good. We usually call and the wait times can be rather long but aside from that, it's fairly easy. The contractors who come out are excellent as well. When we made the claim, Myers contacted us the same day and made an appointment. The appointment is kind of out of American Home Shield's hands. But it was three days after the claim was made that the contractor had a slot open to come out to us so it was pretty timely. It's always a pain in the butt when you gotta fork out money for a home improvement but that’s the name of the game when you're owning a home. But as far as American Home Shield, they did great. In fact, we'll probably renew the warranty after that year is up just because the amount of money it saved me on the air handler unit was drastic, compared to what had to come out of my pocket. I would also definitely recommend them to a friend.

They said that they would call you and I had to wait for three business days for them to assign a company to come out and fix my place. The company would call you and it’s another three days until you get a service person to come out. I had a leak under my sink and I waited eight days until I could get it looked at. Then, they sent the wrong person. They misunderstood what the problem was. However, when the people did come out, it was fine.

He asked me what was going on with it and I explained to him what it was doing. He went right to work and he was knowledgeable so it worked out well. Arthur was great and I’ve dealt with him before. He knew what he was doing but he couldn’t get the panels off because they were all rusted and the screws were rusting. When I went to file the claim to American Home Shield through the website, it was easy but when they were deciding that they were gonna replace the dishwasher, the website was a little bit more difficult to navigate. On some of the pages for dishwashers, it would say that there is no cost to me and when we click and add it to cart, it would say the cost is $140. It was confusing but the website was perfect and everything went fine.

We all just hear a continuous sound and the thermostat says it’s trying to heat but the temperature keeps dropping. There’s no fire going. We submitted a claim with American Home Shield and we’ve already had about 11 visits, total, and it’s still not resolved. They've replaced multiple parts and they’ve gotten a second company to come and look at it and they’ve come out three times. Clearly, the repair has exceeded the cost of a furnace. The companies are all really responsive though. They came out right away and overall, the experience with AHS was good.

This pool company has extremely bad reviews on BBB, Yelp, and Facebook. The review is to follow: Horrible service!!! My service calls were arranged through AHS for our pool heater. On the first visit the technician said they fixed the heater, but when we arrived home that evening it was still not functioning properly and they left our gas running all day. Second visit they replaced the sensors, which worked, but they disconnected the heater capability from our Aqualink system.

When we reported the connection issue with Aqualink they said, "Oh that isn't covered by AHS." I understand it is not covered, but it was broken by their technician. The heater worked a few weeks and then again broke down. The third visit they said the heater was broken because the heater was not ever installed correctly from the initial install. This is not considered normal wear and was denied by the insurance co. Our heater is ten years old so I guess for ten years it was installed wrong. Please beware of AHS sending this company to repair your pool. Please do your research on the repair companies before you utilize their services.

Well we called for service this week to repair our garage door that was broken and paid the service fee. The company that was sent for service was Hometown Garage Doors, LLC. The serviceman evaluated that we needed the spring and rollers replaced however when he called for approval from AHS it was denied.

The representative said garage door assemblies or track are not covered, only the garage door opener is covered. We are furious! Why did they send a garage door repair company when they don't even cover garage doors? They should have told us that when we requested the repair. They sent a company serviceman from a town two hours away from where we live and we ended up paying him ourselves. Updated on 02/02/2019: Two weeks ago, we had gas leak from the hot water tank. Central Hudson, the gas company turned off the gas and require a reinspection after the gas leak is fixed. I called AHS and AHS sent Alliance Contracting for the job. The contractor replaced the whole water tank but when Central Hudson came back to reinspect, they failed the inspection because the contractor used a flexible gas pipe, not a hard copper pipe. We had hard pipe on the old water tank before but for some reason the contractor decided to use flexible pipe instead.

I have tried multiple time to get the contractor back to fix it but he refused, claiming it passes building code. The problem is that the building department has nothing to do with the inspection. It's the gas company that failed it and he refuses to fix it or deal with the gas company. Finally, AHS made him to call me to schedule a follow up service. Then he asked me to pay for it. I told him I shouldn't be paying because that's why I got insurance for. He refused to fix it again. At this time, I'm not even comfortable or feeling safe to have him come back to my house to touch the gas line knowing he is upset and bitter about this situation.

I have called AHS multiple times without resolution. Every time, I was told that they need to contact their supervisor and would get back to me but never did. I have been push to a point of exhaustion. If there is gas leak in the future or when the gas company comes to shut off the gas in this frigid weather because of failed inspection, I'm going to hold AHS accountable.

Original review: We had a broken pipe on 10/8/2018. AHS couldn't find a contractor for us and asked us to find one ourselves and reimburse us later. Our contractor called AHS, got approval and repaired the broken pipe. After I submitted the receipt for reimbursement, there is no response. I emailed five times without response. I called twice. Each time the representative told me will get back to me next day but never did. My contractor has also called on our behalf as well. It has been three months since the service, still no response. It's beyond frustration and we are wasting so much time on this issue that should have been resolved long time ago.

I’m a property manager and I work with a lot of warranty companies. We had a valve on a washing machine that was leaking and frozen and I called it in through American Home Shield. That experience was fine, but overall, I’m not a fan of American Home Shield and I don’t recommend them as a home warranty company. I recommend another company over them. I’ve had some very bad experiences with them in the past year, including incredibly long wait times on the phone and denial of service. When you wait on the phone for an hour to talk to a representative and not just once but consistently, anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour in some cases, that’s way too long. In one case, we had a woman who paid her warranty to American Home Shield for nine years and when her AC went out, they refused to replace the AC. She ended up having to come out of pocket for about $6,000.

Also, as with most warranty companies, a warranty company is generally only as good as the vendors they send out and it’s very hit-or-miss. Either the vendor is strong and they get out there and do a professional job, or they’re terrible and they don’t communicate and don’t get the job done right. Plus, there’s really no way of telling a lot of this because you can’t request your vendor, so it’s a luck of the draw.

I made two claims with American Home Shield in the past 60 days. The last one was for my air-conditioner. For that one, I could've gotten a better technician. I had an issue with my heat pump and ductwork. My son's room was blowing hot air and we were trying to get the coolness to come on but the grid was frozen. I was trying to figure out how to get it to work again. But I remembered that it probably just needed some refrigerant in order to work.

The technician was going all around trying to figure out exactly what was causing it to freeze up, which was fine because I might have thought of one thing but he was the professional so he might have known another. He initially went in to check to make sure that all the coils were okay and that they did not have a leak. There were some things on the outside and I asked them what they were and why they were there. He called it growth on the outcome report, but it wasn't. It was bluish and I thought it was just refrigerant. He said it was when cool air and stuff like that were all over it, that was what happened.

For some other reason, there was no particular place where any holes were present. He couldn't necessarily find any so he went and checked the outside. There was no oil that was leaking and it was really just low refrigerant. He told me that he was going to add more refrigerant to it but that he really shouldn't because American Home Shield would charge me. He said that it was something to where he needed to take the whole A-frame out, take it to his place of business and do testing. He called to see if American Home Shield would pay for it and he also called his home office. They told him that it would probably take a lot longer and that the cost might not be covered. He ended up just topping off the refrigerant then he left.

That fixed the issue. But now because of the technician's report that there was bio-growth, I would need a whole new air-conditioning unit. He basically stopped my chances if anything were to happen to my air-conditioning unit. I don't like that part because I felt like whoever this HVAC technician was, he did the very bare minimum. He ended up kind of hurting me in the end because they want somebody to just call them on their own and not use American Home Shield. That's what a lot of people do when they're not getting enough money for the call.

This happened during a time that I was rushing around. I was starting a new job so I didn't have a chance to really talk to American Home Shield about any of what happened. They called me and left a message, but I didn't have a chance to speak to them. When they called me, they said that there was bio-growth on there and that was what the technician said. I was thinking that he didn't take any pictures to show American Home Shield and that it was just his words. That was another thing too. I was kind of on an act of mercy of whoever was coming out.

I just think that there is some integrity issue sometimes with certain people. The thing is just because they're doing business with you doesn't mean they're trying to get you on the other end. If you're paying them so much per call, they are thinking themselves that this isn't worth so much. They're gonna look to try to get top dollar or somewhere in the middle. American Home Shield I'm sure realized that. But the consumer is losing out on the end because we're paying the monthly premium with American Home Shield to be able to call these contractors. The care is really left up to themselves and their contractors and last on the consumer. You have to watch out for when you're getting a warranty company. Are they looking out for your best interest?

I used to be a Home Shield customer in the past and recently, I re-joined the ranks. The company is a lot better than it used to be. What it needs to be is that they need to give more than a PDF of your contract. They need to have you directed to a specific claim then see exactly what's covered and what's not because contracts can be really tricky to read. It only helps you to be more informed if they give you the contract, and they show you what's covered and what not. If they come to you and they say that bio-growth isn't covered, they're gonna look through their contract and show you then that it's not covered. But if you can do it yourself, it's like, "I did it myself. It's no big deal. I understand that this is that.” I don't need a phone call later.

But they don't manufacture the smaller ones that would fit in there. I would like to get the same refrigerator I have, but American Home Shield don’t have it in the line-up.

I have a tenant in one of my properties and the furnace went out. I called American Home Shield to have them send out somebody to take care of the problem and they called a vendor out of Oklahoma City who was 90 miles south of Tulsa. It took the vendor three days to get to my property to see what the problem was. My property has a young lady with three children and it was damn cold. I had to put up those people in a hotel so they wouldn’t freeze. Finally, American Home Heating and Air came and looked at the furnace and said that there was a motor problem in my furnace. They didn’t take the motor out. They just went back to Oklahoma City and didn’t take care of the problem. I had to call American Home Shield again to find out why the problem was not being fixed.

The techs came out and they looked at the furnace and said that they couldn’t get the model number off of the motor because it was too rusted, so they went back to Oklahoma City. I called American Home Shield again and we were in the Christmas holidays. American Home Heating and Air Conditioning didn’t work for 10 days because of the holidays. Meanwhile, I was putting my tenants up in a hotel because they didn’t have heat. I got fed up with the situation, so I called another vendor in Tulsa and had them come to take a look at the furnace. They came and took a look at it and they said that it was not the motor. The motor was just fine. They said that my heat exchanger was totally rusted out and it had holes in it, therefore, it did not hold any pressure or could not throw any heat into the house. The said that I had to replace the whole unit. I told them to replace it and get it done.

They replaced the unit and it cost me $6,100. American Home Shield did not follow through with the original vendor to make sure that the problem got taken care of. I called American Home Shield on the 7th of January and I told them that I replaced the unit, and they gave me a code number. I emailed them and faxed over to them the pictures of the heat exchanger that was all rusted out. I also sent a letter and the invoice of what it cost me to repair that furnace. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard from American Home Shield.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online for a plumbing issue and my experience in navigating the website was really great. It's very convenient. But sometimes, they don't quite understand what I'm saying so they would misplace my request then I would have to call them. But when I call AHS, it really takes a long time for them to answer the phone. I'm on the phone forever, waiting. It's really a big problem. That never happened with AHS before. But nowadays, I don't know. They want us to request online only.

Getting a contractor out wasn't a problem though. It was pretty quick and the contractor was great. They were very professional and then they did a really good job. The faucet was leaking and he tried to fix it. But the structure is pretty old and the leak was not really fixable. So he called AHS again and he just replaced the faucet. I was really satisfied. Having the warranty is really convenient and I love it. If you yourself find a plumber, it's really a hassle. That's why I've been keeping this AHS warranty forever. It's been 20 to 30 years. I also recommended my two neighbors.

I was out of the city when it happened. My wife submitted the claim but usually, I’m the one submitting the claim online. The AHS website is pretty good. They usually give me the information and stuff, so I haven't had any problems with it. The technicians who came out from Ward’s Quality Appliance were good. My wife was impressed with them. She said that they took care of it. They got it done, got in, and got out. I’ve had American Home Shield for a lot of years. I had to call them pretty much with everything that went and they have taken care of it or gave me the different alternatives to take.

My husband and I never had a warranty on our property. Our good friend in Gruver ad several different houses, and they have it in every house they ever had. When my husband passed away, having it was a lifesaver for me. Recently, we had had our electricity going on and off all day the day before and the day before that, it was off five hours. That next morning, I woke up and the house was freezing cold. It was gonna be three degrees that next morning.

So, I called American Home Shield at 9:30 AM. I got an email back that they got Bob Jay's out of Perryton, I am familiar with them and they are the best. Jay called me within 45mins and he said they’d be here right after dinner. then about 1:15, he sent me a text message and said that Steven had finished earlier and that Steven would be coming out. They came out and examined all the connections on the heater and hit a reset button, thinking that might help because the electricity had been going on and off. Then they just did a regular service, looked at the filters to make sure all the wires were connected. They were very thorough and Steven, couldn't have been nicer. I felt silly that I didn't know all this stuff and he said, "Vicki, why should you? That's what we're here for." They were already finished and back on their way by 2:30.

I started with American Home Shield many years ago and I thought the price would stabilize or even have more discount because we have multiple properties. But the price keeps going up every year. So at one point, I was thinking maybe I should look for other companies because some companies offer much cheaper rates and the coverage is pretty much the same. But I've found out on the market that the price is very comparable. I’m paying almost $70 a month for four properties. My wife was saying though that if I would save that money, I can probably repair everything. She asked why I kept paying. But I just want to have peace of mind. I don’t wanna have big things happen all of a sudden. So overall, it’s still worth it.

Beck Plumbing came out for the toilet, which was wobbling. There was also some leaking which must be because of the wobbling. Beck fixed it but within a month, I noticed it was wobbling again. The water also leaked again like before. The caulking was kinda melted and although it is not covered, I didn't care. I would pay for it. I called American Home Shield and luckily, they said that it was within 30 days when I called and they could actually send the company to re-call, visit again and see what’s going on, like a warranty.

They came out in a couple of days. In fact, they were supposed to do this thing in the New Year. But I said no. It was too late. I had visitors during the New Year. Then they actually came out on Sunday. That was December 30th. So the same guy came out and looked at the toilet. He did the repair again, stabilized it and did the caulking. I asked him if he was sure it was good this time and he said it looked pretty good. The attitude for this guy is okay also. He was a little nice. It’s January 17th today and so far, there is no leaking or wobbling. But I'm watching it. I wanna make sure that within 30 days, it’s good. If I don’t pay attention and something goes wrong, when I call, they would say the warranty has expired.

Another thing is that the first time they came out, I had to take a half day off and go home to stay there because they gave me a window of four hours. But when they came out the second time, it was a Sunday so it did not affect me a lot. I was home anyway. But the inconvenience was because the issue happened again and they had to come out again. I also had to request again. So hopefully, they can fix the problem in one time. It was not 100% perfect but overall, I'm pretty satisfied.

American Home Shield has been doing awesome. Every time we have an issue, they send a repair company out. If the repair company could fix the issue, they would fix the stuff, which is very good. Once, we were having an electrical issue with our oven. I called them and filed a claim. That process was easy -- I did it in Spanish, just the way I like it, and their Spanish customer service was really nice. The company that came was very good. The stove was kinda old and so they had to replace the control panel. They ordered some insulation. We had to wait for a week and a half to get the unit fixed because they didn't have the part, but it was okay.

One of the things that I found that's really impressive about the service of AHS is that I put a request in online and within an hour I get a text saying who the contractor is and that they would be reaching out. They've been really good about getting back to me fairly quickly, even within a day. Going to the website is extremely efficient and easy. My wife and I have done it a couple of times. The one thing that we've noticed though was that when we tried to give AHS a call, the wait time is really long, like sometimes they were between the 20 or 30-minute timeframe. So we go through the website, which has been fantastic.

The contractors were also excellent. Rapps came in for two things -- one was the ceiling fan issue and the other one was the garbage disposal. The contractors were two separate people. They both came in and explained exactly what they were gonna do. I went to do what they needed to do and then came back. They gave me an overview of what they found and what the next steps would be.

They came to find there was something that was jammed in the disposal, so the contractor gave me a recommendation. He said to try it for a couple days and if it didn't work to call back and then they would come back and replace the disposal. They were actually coming back tomorrow to do so. But he was really clear and upfront that because it was something that we put in there, it wouldn't be covered through American Home Shield. He quoted the price, so we knew ahead of time, which is good. It was a bit more complicated with the ceiling fan. The guy came out, he looked at the ceiling fan and did a really nice job letting me know what the issue was and the problem wasn't gonna be covered. But we asked for him to come back and fix the fan and we would pay for it. He did an amazing job. Both contractors were very efficient, professional and very friendly.

Unfortunately, the pump that they sent had a leak and so it wasn’t his fault. It was the company’s fault that made the pump. Without the dishwasher since before Christmas, the day-to-day operations haven’t been good. AHS finally decided to replace it and they sent me a sheet via email that was horrible. I couldn’t see whether the dishwashers were stainless steel fronts or not and everything appeared to be in black and white. I could look at the things but then, the phone would lock up when I tried to look at them. We’ve been having no end of grief with this. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I put in a service request and the guy came out and said my faucet was no longer being made and I would have to replace everything, cut a hole in my wall and put new plumbing in it. All he did was sit on the edge of my tub and touch it. My estimated cost after AHS was $700. I called for a second opinion. Not only could the other guy fix my leaking tub faucet, he did not have to cut into anything to fix it. There was already a hole under a faceplate that was already there (something I was told I would need). So for under $200 I had it fixed but not through AHS. So instead I am saving the $60/mo for incidentals, should I need it. But canceling AHS is another story. On hold for over 30 minutes each time I call. It's impossible to cancel. Maybe I need a lawyer at this point. I feel so scammed by my experience.

I sent a claim with American Home Shield for a furnace repair. I submitted it online late in the day. I found their site to be very user-friendly and the service was very good. It was Christmas Eve so the contractor contacted me the next day to make sure that because it was the holiday if it was an emergency, they can turn that into an emergency service. It would be good, though, if, on their website, there was an indicator saying that this was an emergency service or something, to indicate faster response time, or an additional cost associated with the emergency service.

With the furnace being out, nobody wanted to be cold in the house. But it wasn’t an emergency, so we just treated that as such. When the contractor was able to come out a day after Christmas, he identified a part that had an end of life and he was able to get the part the same day that he came, which was good because it was not always the case. So far, the furnace has been working well since the repair. It was a good experience.

They ended up replacing the heater because it had a leak at the bottom. It was kind of refreshing to have that experience because we had heard about home warranty comes and things have been 50-50. Some people like them while others hate them, so we weren't expecting too much. AHS didn't give us any hassle, took care of the problem and told us what our part was gonna be to pay. In the end, that was exactly what it was, not a penny more.

More recently, the blower of my AC was trying to cycle on but it couldn't. It kept cutting off, then cycling on and then cutting off again. Every 10 seconds it was trying to kick on but it couldn't. I submitted a claim online to AHS and the contractor who came out thereafter was great. I submitted a claim over the phone since our AC was blowing hot air. I called two times or so that morning and I was given a time frame of 10 to 2 to expect the contractor. Then I got two calls. One call came from the dispatcher, saying that the driver was running late. Then I got a call from the actual technician who told me he was doing other calls before he would do our call. I told him on the phone that it was gonna be dark when he gets here, that he was not gonna be able to see on the side of the house and that he needs to see. But he said that it was gonna be all right and that he was gonna take care of us all.

He also said that he was my neighbor and that he lives about five minutes from us. That was a very casual conversation. It wasn't a business conversation. It doesn't matter if he lives across the street from me. We're paying for a contract with American Home Shield and he works for one of the actual companies that represent American Home Shield's contract. So he needs to be trying to assist us in getting our service.

I was having severe problems with breathing and he didn't get here until almost 6 o'clock. Then when he came out here, he was very obnoxious. He wanted to tell us all about how it goes with American Home Shield's contract and how it was for this other home warranty company. When we asked him not to discuss those issues with us, he proceeded to continue. Then he told us that we got an R-22 but American Home Shield told us five years ago when we got the unit that they weren't putting an R-22 in because it was being phased out. Then the technician said the capacitor was bad and he put in a new capacitor but even though he said it was Freon issue also, he did not really wanna go, check out the leak and see how much Freon had leaked out.

I asked how much Freon we were gonna need because we had put $1,000 worth of stuff in here three years before. I told him that something was wrong. Why would the Freon be leaking out like that? I told him that I knew that we would have to pay for Freon but that we needed to know how much has leaked out. He wasn't willing to go until I told him that I have asked people to come and not to come back. I was not gonna allow him to come into our home, be rude and be obnoxious like he had been. He asked why I was mad at him and I told him I was very disappointed with him and the way that he had been handling the service.

When he checked the leak, he said the Freon was all gone. Then he said he couldn't even check and see where the leak was coming from at night. And I was like, "Really? You can't check to see?" Then he went and told RAW Air his story. The manager at RAW Air was not willing to listen to me when I told them the service was bad. I called American Home Shield and they got someone else out here. They called me the very next morning but they wanted us to pay $80 for a pound of Freon for them to test to see where the leak was. They told us they couldn't come back out until we pay $80 but I told them we were not paying $80 just to go out the drain. I told them that they should be able to check it.

They sent a 70-something year old man out here last Saturday and this man didn't wanna check for the leak. He said he didn't having anything on his truck to test for it. I asked what the reason was for him coming out here then because we were supposed to be getting a leak checked out. He said he would call the office and when he came back, he had the Freon and everything with the pump, ready to test and see for the leak. So he lied to us. He told us he didn't have anything to check it with on his truck.

He came in, went around the back and checked. He said it wasn't on the outside condenser. So he came back through the garage and he had to climb up the attic. But he was breathing heavily. He said he had asthma and that he was trying to catch his breath. I was so sorry but why did they send somebody out here that they knew had asthma? When he finally got his breath, he went up there, checked and said there was a big hole in the evaporator. He said it was not repairable so I called American Home Shield back and Authorization told me that we were gonna be out of $840 for the Freon. They also wanted to put two float switches in and both of the floats would cost $167. It was a total of $1,007.

I called the contractor back on Thursday to find out why I hadn't gotten a call about the evaporator. They asked me if I knew that I was gonna be out of $1,200. I asked what it would be for and they told me I had to have a drip pan. I told them that we had just brought everything up to the government and that a company had put in a brand new evaporator three years earlier. Why would we have to have a drip pan just because we're using a different company? I was told I needed to call the warranty company.

But when I called, I was told that it was between the customer and the company, and that if I didn't wanna pay for the things that were not covered, I wouldn't have to pay for that. I told the representative that it was not that I didn't wanna pay, but I saw that they were not needed. He said I was absolutely right but they were gonna have to make a decision and get with the company. But no one has called me back. I'm waiting on a call right now from American Home Shield that I put in an hour ago. They said that they were very busy. I have spent 62 hours on the phone with American Home Shield in one week.

Also, I am aware that there has been a lack in communication between the contractors and AHS. I would be glad to speak with you and address the non covered cost as well as get the issues resolved.

American Home Shield is a great service and I usually recommend them to everyone. When you call or you do a service request online, they call you and make things happen. Sometimes, you go a whole year without anything happening, so you're really paying that service just in case anything goes down, so it won't be so painful. And when something does happen, you wish you would have had it because if it’s something they can’t fix, they give you a brand-new one. And sometimes, those large items can be very expensive. But once you get the service, you're paying the $75 service fee on top of your monthly payments and I think that service fee should go away.

Aside from that, sometimes trying to get through over the phone is difficult and the process is not as simple. You gotta wait and sometimes you get through but sometimes you don't. Then you gotta call back. But once you go online and submit your claim, it's usually much faster and easier, from my experience. Their website is also user-friendly and that's because I know how to do it.

So, for my recent claim on my washing machine, I filed it online. When the tech came, there was a button I did not see and all he did was push it then reset it. I could have dealt with that and I would have never needed him. So, that was a $75 experience that I could kick myself. And on these new machines, they got so many different options, buttons, and little radio buttons, But it was right there, stuck in plain sight, and I just didn't realize it. So, the tech showed me that. Also, the washing machine was a hand-me-down from my dad. It was one of those nice front-loads and the tech also showed me how to download the service manual. Then, he did a little maintenance clean-up, took it apart, and ran some tests. So, he gave me a little more for my money and the service was really good.

The washer wouldn’t finish a cycle. It would only go a little way and then the signals F and then H would come up. According to the manual, that meant it wasn’t getting enough water. So we called American Home Shield and the contractor they sent checked out everything on the washer and cleaned out the filter. He was a nice guy but he didn’t know what he was doing. He said the washer wouldn’t get enough water and that he needed to have a plumber come out and check the water supply. So he contacted the plumber and Just Plumbing Services came out. The plumber was also a nice guy. He determined that there was adequate water.

We called American Home Shield again and we set up the time to have a different, more experienced repair person come out. That was like on a Friday and it was the weekend that he was coming. But we thought that the first repair person getting that plug out of the filter might have helped the washer. We tried it and for two loads, it worked fine. We told the repair person that the washer seemed to be working fine. But then a week later, while doing another load, it did the same FH thing. We took the front panel off ourselves and tried to clean out that filter again, which didn’t seem clogged. But we then tried another load and it worked fine. I've washed two loads since and it’s been working fine.

Because there were three people involved, the claim took longer than we had hoped. When the first repairman came out, we thought it would be fixed. But it wasn’t and it took several days for him to get a plumber out. Then it took a few more days to have the next repairman called. We were running out of clean clothes. But everybody who has been out here has been very pleasant.

I've been with American Home Shield for about three years. There was a time that I had some washing machine issue and they fixed it well. Another time, I needed some Freon and I found that their limit on Freon is really unfair. AHS says they would pay $20 a gallon but then the going rates are at $150. So, I was out of pocket $500 extra because all the Freon leaked out of a condo I have. Still, their contractors have been great thus far.

The flush wasn't working properly and it was pretty easy to make the claim over the phone, and that's what I prefer to do because I prefer talking to a person. And I needed to do that because I submitted a claim three months before for the same issue, and American Home Shield sent the same company out twice and it wasn't fixed. This time, they sent a company that was fantastic. As the tech was working on one toilet, he was waiting on the other one to test. He knew exactly what he was doing and took his time to make sure that it was working properly. He did a good job because the problem hasn't recurred.

I submit claims online at American Home Shield and it's pretty easy to register a complaint. They assign a company, and the company rep calls me and sets the time. They're very quick and responsive, and the system is seamless. Initially, when I bought the house, they sent a rekey guy. Then I had a minor electric malfunction and that was done quickly. The earth wire went wrong, so the tech came and took five minutes to fix it. The most recent claim was a leaking faucet, and it’s still open because the guy that came in broke the handle while he was trying to fix the leak. They're going to bring new handles and put them back tomorrow. AHS has been great and I’ve already recommended them to a few friends elsewhere.

The most recent claim that I submitted with American Home Shield was a racket that was coming out of the washer. I submitted the claim in connection with a repair that was made about a month ago. I assumed that it might’ve had something connected to the first visit. The fact that I put the request for service in over the holiday weekend, I would not have been surprised not to have been contacted until after the 1st of the year. Instead, I was contacted the next day and the rep asked how urgent the claim was. I explained that it was important to us. We use our washer and dryer about five times a week and it’s an integral part of our lifestyle. Surfside Appliance managed to juggle around stuff and get us in the following day. They came out here and punched it out.

The representative from Surfside Appliance absolutely knew what he was looking for and he showed me the broken part that he was speaking of, and how it was found to be the case. I was absolutely impressed with the knowledge, skills, and ability of the rep. He was extremely polite and very patient with my questions. He had the machine all up and parts all over the place, but when he was done, the area was as clean as it was when he got there. He really takes the extra step to make everybody look good and to do a good job. When he left, I really felt like he was here to take care of the problem and take care of us on behalf of American Home Shield.

It was nice to do business with people like him and the washer has been like brand-new since he came out. He was very good. If I didn’t have American Home Shield and I had something go wrong, I would call Surfside Appliance. They made American Home Shield look good, and they also made themselves look good by doing such a great job.

So this time, we had both of them. I sent an email to American Home Shield saying I needed service. On the website, they said they would send out a contractor within 48 hours and they did. They even called on a holiday. A guy from Air Supply Services came and he was on time. He explained everything to me and when I told him about how noisy the thing was, he said he was never leaving and that he was gonna fix it.

He went inside and I know he tightened up some things. He found the problem with the furnace right away because he saw some water that came down if he was opening something up to let the heat or whatever in. I told him they just did the roof with that and that it was bad. He said that would affect it if it leaked in which made sense. Everything has been fine since he left. Not hearing that noise at night is almost like I don’t know if I can go to sleep now because it’s too quiet. I don’t know how anybody can do without a home warranty. American Home Shield researches, finds somebody, and gets somebody that fast. Then, they just come right on out and boom, boom, it’s done.

We also have an empty bowl in the back of the fridge to catch all of the water that drips from the top and ruins our leftovers. The repair tech was at our home a week later, and determined that we need a replacement. He reports he has sent the diagnostic information to AHS, but we have heard nothing. There is no way to email or chat online with any customer service person, and I cannot get ahold of anyone to actually speak to from AHS, as the wait times on hold are always "greater than one hour," and no one has contacted me yet about what our next steps are. I just bought my home and found out the hot water heater was 14 years old and in need of repair or replacement due to very poor heating and dirty, stained, rusty hot water. AHS hired a contractor who determined a replacement was needed and well overdue. AHS didn't like the price tag, so they called for a second opinion from a different company. That company has a BBB rating of F and has several warnings from previous customers.

Long story short, AHS closed the entire case, not even considering the first contractor's assessment. The customer service is horrendous. Expect to wait on hold for literally hours to speak with anyone... And they barely speak ineligible English. Run from this company. Run. Total scam.
