I have been with American Home Shield for about 12 years now and when submitting claims, I've done both online and over the phone. I prefer over the phone, however, it takes so long to do it because their line is so backed up. I can be on hold for half an hour or 45 minutes. It is easy doing online because it's quick. The website is very easy to navigate. They always get me a contractor right away, however, there are some contractors who are good, while some are not. Sometimes it works out, but sometimes it doesn't.

For instance, I had a heating issue last year. The heater was working, but it was leaking water in the inside. AHS sent this one contractor out a couple of times. He asked a lot and he didn't fix it. I had another issue and the same guy came out, nothing got done as well. I was having a heating issue this time, the boiler wasn't firing up and the house wasn't getting warm. A part had to be replaced. I specifically called AHS and told them not to send that particular contractor and that was not an easy process because I was on hold for at least half hour. They sent JG Services out, took care of it the same day and were on time. The issue got fixed and I didn't have any problems.

I have a water heater issue. The guy came out last week and he got the power lit. I told him that the water wasn't getting that hot and he said that he couldn't see anything wrong with it. As soon as he left, the water was just lukewarm. Now, it's not getting hot at all. I did a recall that the contractor called and told me that they'd come out between 8:00 to 12:00. When I called them, they said that they didn't have me on their schedule but they could squeeze me in from 12:00 to 3:00 and I said okay. I left work early and I was home waiting. It was almost 3 o'clock, but they were not here.

It really depends on what contractor you get. You can get one that's gonna have to do what he's supposed to be doing or you can get another who's gonna beat around the bush. I never really had an issue with the quality of their work once they do what they're supposed to do, it's just getting it done. I also feel like the AHS customer service is going downhill as far as being able to personally get somebody on the phone.

I wish I could give this company negative stars. A complete headache, customer service reps who don't care and will hang up in your face and they will fight you to the death to keep from replacing anything that is "covered". They told me they do not have a corporate office so there is no one to listen to complaints. Please beware of the false advertising and do not spend your money with this scam of a company!

AHS did end up paying for some of the furnace replacement but only half. I still firmly believe they were responsible for the entire installation.

I called AHS this morning for my first claim. My hot water heater is leaking and needs to be replaced. I filed a claim online, and a plumber contacted me 2.5 hours later. They said they could come "look" at my water heater tomorrow afternoon, and this was still within their required 48 hours response time (the contractor response time is not indicated on the contract).

The plumbing company said they would then submit a claim of damage to AHS for replacement approval, and their (AHS) reply could take 24-48 hours. I didn't want to be without hot water for 3-4 days, so I called AHS to ask for another contractor. They said there was no one else on their list that could get there sooner. I asked what I was supposed to do without hot water for a week. They said they were sorry, but this is their policy. I asked them to cancel my warranty and send me a refund. I don't believe this is how an emergency warranty repair should be handled. I won't recommend AHS to anyone!

I made a claim to AHS for an inoperative tankless water heater. My contract covered tankless water heaters, however, AHS was not able to send a contractor to my house that had expertise on these types of units. They sent two different contractors and neither one knew enough to fix the problem. AHS delayed the process and then had the nerve to close my claim on their website without even checking to see if the unit had been fixed! I place multiple calls to AHS in an attempt to resolve the issue, however, their customer service is horrible! It is tough to even get through on the phone and usually placed on hold for 45 minutes to an hour! This is during normal business hours!

After being without hot water for more than 21 days I was forced to rectify the problem without using AHS and immediately called to cancel my contract. AHS also responded to my BBB complaint by providing false information to the BBB and claiming the failure was my fault and not covered under the contract when it actually was! (I was informed by their retention Department that the repair was a covered item.) AHS is only interested in collecting money from customers each month and does not have any real interest in fixing any problems. They are a scam and should be put out of business!

Have been members of AHS for many years now and are having a very negative experience how repair for dishwasher is being handled. AHS was notified on 2/2/2019 and has still not been repaired. When contacting technician, he won't call back, and voicemail is full. Have also contacted AHS and still no update. Wondering what the purpose is of having AHS when causing so much headache and that we have to spend so much time on trying to follow up for a service that should be quick and easy.

Furnace went out in December when it was very cold. AHS couldn’t send anyone out for 2 weeks. My furnace was completely broken after two different companies inspected and gave me quotes. It was going to be a full replacement. AHS sent a man to drive by our house but he didn’t come in and never inspected. We had another company looking at our unit and the AHS person said, "Oh never mind" and drove away. He didn’t speak to me the owner of the home. Since were without heat and AHS couldn’t send another person out for one week, we had the unit replaced.

Now AHS is claiming that they do not have to reimburse or help at all. They offered us $350 which normally would be fine but the new unit is $3,400. Customer service takes over 30 minutes for each time I’ve called in and they are nearly impossible to understand. Only when I got my realtor involved did my case get sped up. They weren’t going to give us any money until the realtor convinced them to give us our policy money back. I will never do business with this company again!

American Home Shield is phenomenal. I love them. I needed a water heater replaced, and I went to the bathroom in my tenant's unit and the water started pouring out. Within a few hours of filing a claim online, someone reached out to me. The contractor who came was polite, clean and on time. The communication was wonderful, but he casually offered a free inspection and gave me a proposal on what it would cost to replace a number of items. It's an older unit, and there are things we need to repair, which are on our list of things to do.

I saw what he could offer and told him we were gonna do that ourselves, and then he offered to replace the toilet rather than repair it. I have replaced a number of toilets myself over the years, and it's not a pleasant thing to do, so if he was gonna do it at a decent price, I was going to go ahead and do it, but his price was ridiculous. Other than that, I had the work that was warrantied done, and he did it satisfactorily.

The first claim I had with AHS was for a refrigerator which clogged up. The pan was overflowing so the techs cleaned that out. Then the next day, they came out for the washer and dryer. Something was wrong with the washer and that was fixed. I was very pleased with the service person that came out each time. She knew what was going on and took care of it.

But one of the techs charged me $75 and then the next one added tax to it and I never understood that. It was $81. I called AHS back on that and they couldn't explain the service fee. Also, I had AHS pull money out from my credit card instead of my bank account. They changed that and my payment schedule but I didn't want that. I got that straightened out and I just decided to go on and put it back on my bank account. Other than that, it went okay. We had a lot of things go on for two years and sometimes, it took quite a while to get like a condenser put in and some heating things. Still, I'm not dissatisfied and I am glad I have American Home Shield.

We really like American Home Shield and we are satisfied with them. When we sold our house in Florida and came here, we put the Shield on our big home in Florida. We paid for three years for the people who bought it and then we got them too when they didn’t offer one with our property. Then, over the weekend, we were without heat for over six hours. Our new furnace is about two and a half years and we tried to get heat. I did everything and got it going for a while. I turned the thermostat off, opened a little door and made sure that everything was set to auto then I shut it off. I thought the first time that I pushed it all the way to air conditioning and I was sure I did to make sure that the fan would run. Then, I switched it back on and turned up the thermostat. It came on but it didn’t shut off.

It was really cold so, I went online to American Home Shield, looked it up and put in all the symptoms. It told me what to do which was great as I did not know where the parts of our new furnace where. A contractor came out on the 30th of January and we told him what we did. He checked all around but he couldn’t find what was wrong. He changed out the thermostat to a different one. I was not sure that I like it that well yet and he told me to call him if I did not get along with it because thermostats are interchangeable. He also said that the flame sensor needs to be cleaned off and he tried a few other things in there. He showed my grandson what to do and he said to use a Scotch Brite.

After that, everything went well. The contractor checked everything then he put the new thermostat on. It worked fine then he waited for it to shut off and come back on. He checked to make sure that it really was coming up to the temperature. But, Friday night, we thought we were getting sick because we were so cold so, we were bundled up for Friday and Saturday, shaking and cold thinking we must have come down with something because we just had the furnace fixed and it was not working. It was on the weekend again so we knew there was nothing we could do until Monday morning. We called in again and the same guy came out. He said he wanted to check it and he told AHS he was gonna work us in because he had to get out here and see what was going on.

He went in and undid a couple of wire nets. He checked to make sure that maybe the vibration was at least working but he still couldn’t find anything wrong. Then, he put everything back together again. He came in here and checked again on the thermostat to make sure it wasn’t rattling loose. I told him that we need a different one and the top button gets stuck. So, he worked on it a little while, tried it and it came on. He stayed again to make sure it would shut off and come back on.

We went with American Home Shield with the old furnace and two and a half months after the 10-year warranty went out is when that dumb furnace went out. So, we had to buy a whole new one. We waited a whole week on the one they ordered to come in the middle of winter. That aside, we knew the guy from before when we had our old furnace. He was good and honest with us like we have known him for years. He told us that if anything happens, I can call him even if it is in the middle of the night or a weekend and he will come straight over. He also told us that he does not want us to be cold again.

My brother is a real estate agent and he recommended that we get American Home Shield or just a warranty program in general after we paid $7,000 to replace an air conditioner many years ago. We had American Home Shield for a while and then, my mother had OneGuard. She thought that I should try OneGuard so, I did for a couple of months and had an issue with a faucet. It took them two weeks to tell me they weren’t gonna cover it. I had them cancel my membership with OneGuard immediately and I went back to American Home Shield and I’ve been happy ever since.

Most recently, my heater was not heating and it was blowing cold air. I submitted a claim online and A-TX came out. The guy called before he came just as they’re supposed to do, came on time, and went up in the attic. He determined that the problem was some relay switch for the flame and he went out to his car, got the part, went back up in the attic, fixed it and left. It was perfectly fine. But the plumber from MacLin Plumbing they sent out to fix my hot water heater was atrocious and I’ve had neighbors who’ve had horrible experiences with them as well. I reported them back to American Home Shield but I got disconnected with the rep and I didn’t have time to call back and wait for them to get back through. Other than that, American Home Shield is fine and I've never had an issue with my coverage. They’ve been really good to me.

My refrigerator stopped working, and I filed a claim for it online. The process was very easy. The representatives at American Home Shield are very well. I have two contractors come out. The first one was from Brother's, and he was very professional and very courteous. He did a really great job of explaining what was going on and what I could expect in the next step. Then I had another one come out from Sears. He was not quite as professional, kind of curt, but I wouldn't describe it as a terrible experience.

My refrigerator is being replaced. They sent me a thing online. I ordered it last night, and I was told that I would be contacted with details on when it would be delivered, but I haven't yet. I had to spend quite a while looking at the models last night of comparable refrigerators. They suggested one and I almost just, by default, went with it, until I paid attention to the dimensions and it was not the right dimensions. It would not have fit. If I hadn't double checked that, I probably would have been in a mess.

He was in and out in less than an hour and he cleaned up underneath the sink even before he put stuff.

We also had NW Sundance for a plumbing issue years ago when we had the house repiped that had old cast iron pipes. When the guy did the snake thing, he put a hole in the pipe under the sink. They came back and fixed that once I discovered that had happened. Then, two weeks ago, I called American Home Shield about my garage door being broken and I had somebody out here two days later. When we had a washing machine that went bad, A&P Appliance came out and it was fantastic dealing with them. The guy came to the door and even took his shoes off to come in. I told him he didn't have to worry about that but he said it was all right. He was very courteous and accommodating in answering all of our questions so they were topnotch. They evaluated and found out that there was a bearing in the washing machine that was too expensive to repair. So they went ahead and initiated us to go ahead and get a new washing machine through Home Shield.

The only problem I found is that it took me 45 minutes to actually talk to somebody with Home Shield. They originally left me a voice mail saying that they needed some more information on the appliance. They asked me to call them back at a number so I called back. I went through a phone tree and then I got the music on hold. I called twice and one was 30 minutes long; the other was 45 minutes. They said they were experiencing high call volume at the time. It was possibly because there was the cold snap back on the East Coast though. Nonetheless, they covered all the bases that they needed to cover. I talked to them over the phone and they wanted to know more about the unit – the size, the model and the color. They did a fantastic job.

They haven't replaced it yet and that's the dilemma we're going through. A delivery company had delivered the washer on Wednesday but as they got up to the garage door, they noticed that the clean-out door at the bottom was broken so they took it back. I got a call that they're gonna deliver the new one this coming Monday and hopefully, they can because we're getting a lot of snow this weekend. So the delivery company is gonna bring it and install it. It won't be the appliance company. All in all, I would recommend American Home Shield.

He replaced some type of a switch and it works fine now. One thing I really like is that the people, the craftsmen, the workers that American Home Shield uses are always really good. In fact, if I ever wanted any work done that isn’t covered under American Home Shield, I ask them for the name of say a plumber or an electrician.

We had just purchased the house. Our real estate agent signed us up for the American Home Shield warranty and said that we definitely may want to get all of the locks re-keyed so that all the keys would be the changed and be different, and nobody else would have any of that. So, we filed a claim with AHS to replace some keys. The contractor was able to come out and help us within one or two days at the most. They were very professional and I would speak very highly of the way they did the job. Although my wife went about the claims process, I was there when the technician came day to day. The guy did a good job and I'm very content with his work. I've got nothing but high-rank comments and good things to say about him.

When I submitted an AC claim to American Home Shield, I did it online and it was very easy and convenient. I put it on a Saturday morning, which was not business working hours, and I had phone calls come back on Monday. It was within 48 hours and it was great. The people from Joe's Cooling and Air asked for information on the maintenance and reviewed it. Their tech then checked every single thing. He noted that the unit was rusting and oil was dripping. He then gave us recommendations and told us that we should mainly check the systems. He was good about it. Since the repair, our air conditioning unit is working fine.

American Home Shield's online claim submission could use some improvement. We submitted a claim due to a non-functioning heating system and it was not easy to get somebody to chat with you online. That's tough because the wait times on the phone are usually well over an hour. We then worked with a couple of AHS contractors on the issue. The first one came out quickly and was responsive the first time but their work didn’t fix the problem. After that, they weren’t very responsive. The second contractor that we used was great but he was located about an hour plus outside of Atlanta so scheduling was tough. It took about two months before we got the system replaced. That was in the middle of winter and so it was terrible. It was difficult to do anything. But now, the whole thing is resolved and we have an entirely new heating system.

The contractors called me and they came out the very next day. His service was really well. He was really courteous too. He was like a business, and he went in there and he fixed the noise, but they had to come back the next couple of days because the sensor wasn't working. Every time I would turn it on, it wasn't getting as warm. And then, after two minutes, it would cut off. And so, when I called him back, he said something about the sensor, when he went in to do something, something switched. But when he fixed it, it's been working perfectly. I love American Home Shield.

Honest review, not one filtered on the AHS website. Read the very fine print in this warranty - there are so many exclusions had I known before closing I would have shopped around. Some of the contractors they send will lie about work performed to make themselves look good to AHS, but you will still have a problem and/or and exclusion. It makes me very angry that they take advantage of consumers. This issue was a plumbing stoppage at 35 feet from the drain, which the technician told them he snaked through the toilet to 25 feet (which is not possible, BTW). This was my only request for service in two years and I was definitely taken advantage of -- I've paid $1,400 over two years to be denied over a trivial fine print issue. Now had the contractor brought the right equipment, that extra 10 feet wouldn't have been an issue to begin with. With my service call I have actually paid $1,475 and NO SERVICE. Buyer Beware!

We received our one year home warranty for our new home from our realtor as a gift for purchasing our home. After purchase of our home we did run into a few minor problems such as a water leak under the bathroom sink which was remedied by AHS and some electrical issues; outlets that were not functional that were remedied.

Our problem with AHS came when we had an issue that was a little more expensive. Our home is a new construction home. One of our toilets was found to have a fracture at the base of the toilet where the bolts are screwed to the floor. We contacted AHS and they sent Clear Flow Water Solutions to check out our claim, they also were the company that repaired the aforementioned water leak under bathroom sink. The technician that arrived said his opinion was that something had been dropped on the toilet base and therefore the toilet repair was not covered under warranty. When we took exception with his opinion since toilet was brand new and we knew of no damage, the technician then contacted AHS and we spoke to a representative of AHS and they agreed they would not cover the toilet repair.

In order to get this rectified, we needed to have our own plumber come and make the repair to the toilet which included the removal of broken toilet and reinstallation of a new toilet which cost us $388.99. His opinion was that the toilet had not been installed correctly, as the floor was uneven and there were no shims under the toilet. The plumber from Clear Flow had removed the old toilet when he came so he should have seen the same. In order to go after AHS for recovery of our charges, we needed to pay the American Arbitration Association, the contracted arbiter for AHS, $200 in order for the issue to be considered by AHS and resolved. Promptly upon paying the fee to AAA and filing the claim, AHS rolled over and paid our claim.

Don't bother with this company. They will not cover all the items they say they will cover if it will cost them too much. A few months after the arbitration, even though our year had not run out, we received a letter from AHS that we were no longer covered under the contract that they had given us for a year. As of today, 5 months after this incident, we still under contract have about one month of coverage. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. JUST SAVE YOURSELF FOR THE INEVITABLE REPAIRS YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE.

I have (had) four contracts with them and on two occasions they have sent or tried to send very substandard companies with terrible reviews. One even made up issues that didn’t exists to try and squeeze more money out of me.

Recently my air conditioning went out. In Florida that is a big deal! They could care less - actions speak louder than words. It has now been out going on 5 days. Company finally showed up today. Guy arrived 1.5 hours late costing me more time off work than planned. Determined it is the compressor leaking Freon and needs to be replaced. Ok, no problem. I notice he is packing up his gear only to find out that he thinks it will takes AHS ANOTHER 48hrs to review and maybe approve the repair.

When asked when he would be back he stated not sure, but PROBABLY over a week! Do yourself a favor and don’t use AHS or switch while you can to a more reputable company. Lastly, if you look at AHS customer service responses on this web site you’ll note that they are all the same copy and paste kind of responses. You have no way of knowing if they actually did anything for these people that already had to deal with the problems that AHS created in the 1st place.

I've had American Home Shield for about a little over a year now. Called in a request for service regarding toilet leaking in August. Sent tech out but tech refused to go under crawl space. Tech jiggled handle a little bit and flushed toilet twice, then said everything was fine. I receive a $125 service charge. I call and explain to billing that nothing was fixed that someone needed to come and fix the problem I had before it was worse. She put me on a brief hold and contacted the plumber they sent out then got back on the phone with me and told me that the plumber said that everything was fixed and they wanted their $125 service call charge.

Well, 5 months later I have a room full of water from the toilet that supposedly has been fixed. When I called again they said I never made a call back in regards towards the issue I had within a 60 day period (yes, I did, you told me there was nothing I could do until I paid the 125$). I had to explain to them that I did and I'm hoping that they record all of their phone conversations because they're going to need to go back and check this. Meanwhile I still have a room full of water in the same problem I was having before but now it is worse. I am having to get a second opinion and to have an evaluation done under my crawl space in regards to what kind of water damage has occurred. Meanwhile American Home Shield has been deducting their monthly charge and even renewed my contract. Not good at all.

Updated on 02/19/2019: I received a generic response (presumably so they can look good on this website) because I wrote a negative review, not because they want to resolve my problem. I responded to that response a week ago and have not heard back from them. I am now trying to cancel my plans. There was over an hour wait time to cancel my plans so the representative submitted a request to cancel. This was 5 days ago.

I have not received confirmation of cancellation. I called 4 days ago to cancel over the phone. Again I sat on hold for over 30 minutes before I had to hang up to take another call. I called today and I am currently 26 minutes on hold waiting to speak to a supervisor. There have been a few service calls that have gone well, but if you have to call them for any reason be prepared to waste hours of your time on hold and not receive anything in the way of "customer service."

Original Review: I have been trying to resolve an issue for over 3 months now, an issue which arose because AHS' phone system was not operational when I called initially. Every time I call is a 45 minute wait. I have been told by several customer service reps AND their supervisors that an email would be sent or a phone call made to resolve the issue, or they would call me back. So far I have been lied to 5 times in these regards. Despite reading the detailed notes left from the previous person I spoke to, each representative promises me that they will do something, and it does not get done. I feel like they simply want to get me off the phone by saying they will send an email to another department, and I should hear back soon. I have never heard back. I have spent over 4 hours on the phone or on hold to address this issue. Which is still unresolved.

I tried to cancel my plan, but I still have another open work order that has not been resolved in over 2 months. I call the contractor to check on the status, since they are not a 45 minute hold, and they say they have submitted their paperwork multiple times, but they are waiting on approval from AHS to fix my problem 2 MONTHS LATER.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim as we were having a big leak. This was my first claim and I only dealt with the automated system, but every time I’ve called in to check and update my coverages, everybody I’ve ever spoken with has been extremely helpful and more than willing to explain things to me. The company that was sent out to be the contractor for the job was wonderful, courteous and helpful. The leak started coming from the garbage disposal, so the guy replaced that and the leak stopped. He also made sure that nothing else was happening before he left. The job was finished within a day and I could not be happier.

The only thing that did not get done was the wood underneath the sink that was warped because of the water that leaked. It was not replaced, but that's not really on the repair company. However, I don't know if that is something that American Home Shield would fix. I wish AHS does a general follow-up where someone would call in and see if there was something that was not handled in the first initial construction, and if there was, how to move forward from there. Everything else was covered well.

They identify the problem, say they would submit the claim and then we usually get a call back. However, once their person comes out and finds something wrong, that person says that the problem is not part of their warranty. We have a problem with the lighting and they said something needs to be replaced but it's not covered. They also can't fix our microwave but then AHS says they don't replace it so we will have to buy another one ourselves. All the things that go wrong are not covered so there's no need for us to keep them as a warranty. New appliances come with their own warranty, so we won't need American Home Shield for those.

He came back next week with the parts and he did a superb job. It’s working perfectly. This ref had been serviced for the same problem for about four times before and they just kept replacing things and it didn’t do any good. This guy said knew exactly what it was, he fixes them all time and he did it. He was very polite and a pleasure to work with. He’s the best. The other techs have been okay but they just didn’t know quite sure what to do and there was hesitation. I’ve had American Home Shield for years and it has paid for itself over and over again. They’ve got a system going that works. When you got a broken appliance, it’s never a happy experience but AHS works and I’m willing to pay my monthly fee for having that service. I'm a realtor and I can tell my clients that AHS is the warranty I use at my house.

I had a rental house which I have since sold. When I had it, I had an American Home Shield warranty on it. I had to call them out three times for different issues. Obviously, I was happy with them then because I signed up with them again for my own house. For this home, I am starting on my second year with them. I'm very pleased with their service and I plan on staying with them.

Recently, I had a garbage disposal unit that leaked. I've usually submitted claims with AHS over the phone and everything was easy-peasy. I was very satisfied and happy with their speed in getting a service contractor out. The technician came out and checked the garbage disposal unit over, then he said that I needed a new one. I asked him if he had a new unit on hand or if he had to order it. He said that he had one out in the truck and that it wouldn't take him too long to take it out and put it in, and that was exactly what he did. He was here for at most two hours and he was able to get my problem solved that same day. He did an excellent job and everything is working correctly.

They sent a message to my wife, but then nobody came over. When I came back early February, I called America Home Shield over the phone and asked them to send a new technician to my home. The techs were quick to come out. They came over to change a part and then replaced it. Everything works very fine now.

The hot water was leaking in the master bath so I submitted a claim to AHS. The first time the plumbing company scheduled the service call was between 10:00 to 2:00. I told them I had to be at work at 2:00 and if someone was to come, I had to be at the earliest. At 11:30 no one called me so I called them. I said I had to reschedule. The next available time was last Saturday so I had to wait another week. They said between 11:00 to 2:00. I said that was fine and I was gonna be home. Then, they said that my hour changed and they were gonna be here between 9:00 to 1:00. Then they showed up. The plumber that came was really nice. He said the faucets were loose and he secured it. It’s a double sink and both faucets are very hard to open. He said they had to be replaced.

The plumbing company then called me to follow up. I said that I was ready, but she said that they sent the report to AHS but no one from AHS called. I was expecting AHS to call me, but no one has called me so far. So I called AHS yesterday and they said Nicole’s gonna call me. And I thought Nicole was the lady that was coming from the plumbing. It’s been more than two weeks now and my issue hasn’t been resolved. I don't have hot water in the master bath, which I use all the time. I have to come to the kitchen to wash my face and use hot water. Hopefully, they'll do something about it.

When my refrigerator went out, however, I called to file a claim. It was a Thursday or Friday and unfortunately, no contractor was available to come in until the following Tuesday. But Conner’s Appliance came exactly when they said they were available. The tech diagnosed the problem and he said he was gonna have to replace the parts. Then, he came back with the parts and he worked on the unit for a couple of hours. Everything is working fine.

I’ve had a lot of experiences with AHS and they’ve all been pretty good. Everyone seems to solve the problem. However, if I hadn’t had another refrigerator outside, everything in my refrigerator would have gone bad. Although I was able to get some stuff in the freezer at somebody else’s friend, that was a little inconvenient. Maybe AHS could have an emergency situation where they could solve the problem a bit faster. Nevertheless, Conner's was very good and I was very pleased with them. Also, the techs AHS has sent has been very pleasant and I've been very impressed.

When my GE dryer quit working, I went to Rent-A-Center to rent a little dryer because I couldn’t pick up anything to take it somewhere else to dry. Then, my kids moved the GE dryer into the dining room and then they put the little-rented dryer where the broken one was so I have a way to dry clothes. I had a GE repair person named Israel who was so bad. He took a long time before he came out here and when he came, he had to order the parts. This was over a period of five weeks. When the parts came in, he came back and acted pissed off that he had to move the little-rented dryer to put the other one back in. He couldn’t test it unless it was plugged up and that is the only place in the house it would plug up. He was so afraid he would have to do something and I did not like it at all. I forgot all that he did to the dryer as I was so pissed by the time he left.

He then finally decided he could move the little dryer and put mine back in its spot and tested it. But the control panel at the top did not operate like it did. It says a bunch of stuff that it’s never said before. I also asked Israel to hook the steam function but I do not know if he did it. I used to have Sears come out and they were 100% better, friendly and helpful. They also gave hints that would help and make things better. If there was anybody else that could repair the GE appliances, I would use them as opposed to Israel from the GE place.

More recently, my chandelier above the dining table quit working. I checked the breakers but the problem wasn’t a breaker so, I went to American Home Shield’s website and scheduled a service call as it is how I file a claim in the recent years. They sent out Epic and the technician fixed the issue in a short period of time. It was like a switch that has two different locations. He was a very young guy, but he knew what he was doing and he was great.

She didn’t know the difference between a heat pump and an air conditioning unit and she couldn’t answer my questions. She was rude and they were all rude in the call center where the call went through. They were yelling and screaming at one another in the background. It was not a good experience. Also, I didn’t get any response and I didn’t get an email or anything after she said she would submit the information. Then, I got a great girl that was in Georgia and she was fabulous. She said the information was never submitted. It was not the first time that it has happened to us whenever we’ve called American Home Shield.

A contractor was dispatched the next day and it was quick. He was very nice and he told my husband what he was doing. He also told him where the problem was. He replaced the wire and the relay switch that had burnt out. However, we had the fire department out because we had smoke in the house coming from the vents the next day. The contractor came out again right away and looked at the unit, but he couldn’t find anything really wrong with it. He had thought that maybe when he opened it, dust resided in there and the dust was burning off, which the fire department also said was possible and that it will alarm. Everything is fine now.

The water heater in my home was not functioning and it had been here for several years. It busted the tank, filled up with water and it had to be replaced. I called it in with American Home Shield which was a turmoil because I didn’t always get someone. I got a recording. It was frustrating. I called back and finally got somebody. My wife told them that I was sick and that we needed to get ready to go to a cancer clinic appointment and that we needed the hot water fixed well. They then called back sometime later and said that a company called Drain Go would be coming up. They couldn't come out that day though. It was gonna be a couple of days before they could come out. So, we couldn't do anything for the three days, except boil our water.

In the meantime, we kept calling and asking AHS to get somebody out here and they just told us that they had Drain Go assigned to come out. We talked to Drain Go and they said that they would get out the following Monday and this was on a Friday. Also, it was obvious to them that the water heater had blown up and was gonna have to be replaced. But by then, they would have to order the replacement water heater and parts that would be necessary to hook it up in our house, so we would have a couple more days of waiting.

Drain Go was outstanding though when they came. They were very polite, professional and very concerned. They got going on getting this taken care of as quickly as they could get the hot water heater in. After they got the brand new water heater in, everything was going fine. Two weeks later, the water heater went out again, so I called Drain Go and she said that it was closing time. When the young man who had been out earlier heard that it was me calling and he knew my being sick, he said that he was on his way to my house. They came in after closing time, made it a point to come to my home and fixed my water heater that just turned out to be an issue with the relay. He got it going but he wanted to be sure it was gonna keep going, so he ordered a new relay and came back the next morning to put it in.

Just this morning though, when my wife was getting ready first to go make our appointments, the water heater was off again. Because the tech showed me how to reset it, I was able to get it reset and I'm hoping that in the next few minutes, I'll have some hot water. We called AHS and told them that the water heater wasn’t working again and they've called Drain Go and informed them. Now, I'm waiting to hear back from them. Drain Go though was really trying very hard and the tech has been very good but there is just something wrong with the product.

My biggest complaint with AHS is it takes too long to get a hold of them and it takes too long to get someone out to address the problem. Then, you have the wait times, times that you're having to wait for parts. To me, if they're showing me a contract and my contract is supposed to be a VIP contract, where they get to me quickly and get things resolved but then it's just treated the same as anybody else, that doesn't make me feel like it's very VIP and it doesn't make me feel good knowing that I've got to wait. American Home Shield needs to do something about the promptness of their response to a customer's needs.

I file claims right on the website and it's pretty simple to navigate. Even I can do it. One time, the garbage disposal kinda froze up and about 15 minutes after I filed the claim, I got a text message saying somebody would contact me in the next 24 hours. The next day, I got a call from Yamaz Plumbing, asking me what the problem was. I told them and they said they were gonna send a person out. Then they called me the next day and said they had somebody in the area. But I couldn't meet up with them at the same time because I was at work. They asked when we could meet up and we scheduled it for the following Tuesday.

They went ahead and came out, and oddly enough, when the guy used a little thing to turn it, all of sudden, the garbage disposal came on. He was gonna troubleshoot it more but then the thing burned up and went on fire. Then he went, "No, no problem. We'll replace it." It took him 15 minutes. He replaced the unit and that was it. I had another claim for some air conditioning and that took a little while because they had to wait on a part. They had gone through my AC system, found some problems and are gonna replace a portion of it. They're coming out within the next couple of weeks to do that. So far, the work done by the contractors sent by American Home Shield has been great.

I've owned many houses but this is the first time I've had American Home Shield and I wish I would have done it before. When I was in my younger years, I could’ve taken on something like replacing a garbage disposal. But even if I could, it would actually cost me less to have them do it because it cost me $175 and with that deductible, it was done in one service call in comparison to the pain and effort of doing it myself plus going back and forth to the store.

It ended up being the motor to my dishwasher had broken and he said that they would give me a call to let me know when the part was shipped in. Then they would come at my earliest convenience to be able to put the new part in. It took about a week to get the brand new part and it was to be expected. They came out and got it done. The gentleman talked me through what was going on and what he thought might have happened while I was standing there watching, so it was cool. As far as the repairman in the pipe’s place, I like them. It was a good experience.

I had another claim where there was something going on with my electricity and the experience wasn’t all that great. The electrician that came out gave me an appointment window from eight in the morning to 12 in the afternoon, but the guy didn’t show up until two in the afternoon. I had to call to find out if the guy was ever gonna show up to my house. They said, “Yeah. He should be done in 30 minutes," but he wasn’t done for an hour and a half. When he arrived, I told him what was going on with my house. He went out and checked my breaker box outside, and he said, “Well, this looks good.” He didn’t even bother checking anything else in my house to see what was going on. He seemed very dismissive about what the issue was and he talked to me like I was dumb.

I like everything about my overall experience with American Home Shield, nonetheless, and I have recommended them to other people. I like their coverage with the appliances and with the rest of the house. Their deductible is kinda high, but the contractors I get are local, so it is really nice. The big selling point on it is you get local contractors to come out and help because they are more familiar with something. Some areas have certain issues that big cities don’t have. With other warranty places, they keep sending people out from Houston, and I live an hour away from there.

This contractor was wonderful and we had used them before, so we expected to have good service from them. We also had a faucet in one bathroom that was leaking at the base and then at the other bathroom, when we would turn the shower on, it made a squealing noise. The tech said that there was a cartridge that had gone bad inside of it, so he fixed it. Also, the kitchen faucet was loose at the base, I could move it just a tiny bit, and the tech tightened that from underneath. It doesn’t do move anymore, so that was a good call. AHS has gone up on the premium substantially though, so I don’t know if I will do them again but AHS is a good deal.

UPDATED ON 04/18/2019: After misdiagnosis of plumbing problems (no water pressure in condo) by several plumbers, good quality faucet replaced with cheap junky faucet. Still no water pressure. Better plumber comes. Sees immediately that lining of water heater clogging water flow. New hot water heater is installed. I pay out of pocket for bringing it "to code". Leaks and rusts. Different company comes. Says bad install caused leak. Rust is ok.

Recently called my own plumber to check and drain water heater. He says rusting out. Should replace. AHS sends tech from original install company... after several calls and complaints by me. Tech says not bad install, but bad part from factory. He says replace. AHS denies claim. I call to dispute finding. Hold for an hour plus. Told supervisor will call me back. No call. I call. Hold... Finally talk to supervisor. Denies claim. I complain. Says will review and get back to me. So I wait. Second time complaint from me. 4th lousy experience.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: We purchased a condo that came with a policy from American Home Shield. We renewed it when it expired. Someone came to see what was causing our water pressure to be so low. He eventually decided we needed a new faucet. We had a pretty decent quality faucet that was replaced with builder grade cheapo faucet. Problem still existed. Another tech came...diagnosed clogs due to deteriorating lining of water heater. Not faucet. Replaced water heater, had to pay extra because codes had changed since condo was built. Asked for old faucet back as it was better quality than the garbage they put in. It was "thrown out". Several calls, long holds etc. etc.-faucet replaced with better quality. Noticed water dripping down hot water heater. Rust on top and sides. Called it in, techs came...said whoever installed put wrong size pipe or valve that created leak. Luckily I caught it before ceiling and floor damage incurred as it is in a remote second floor closet.

January 12th, the fridge water dispenser went on the blink. The microwave was not working. Called them in. Today is February 11th. The fridge was finally fixed on the 9th. Three visits and one scheduled visit that no one showed. Tech said microwave needs replaced. Supervisor wants to come out. A month. To not fix a microwave. The cost of the techs visiting 4 times is probably more than the cost of replacing a microwave/hood fan unit. Now they want to send a different tech. After calls to them all day, long hold times and cut off twice, time for a new home warranty company and a new microwave.

Probably a letter to the Better Business Bureau. In between the above lovely experiences, we had several repairs to our furnace and AC. Most techs wanted to sell us new systems. Several diagnosed different issues with the same equipment. No effort made to replace. One of the techs that they sent, actually said...AHS will band-aid it together forever before they replace it. Got tired of heat and AC always down for repairs, replaced at my expense. Now they want to send a different tech who will call in 24 to 48 hours to fix microwave... Hahahaha... They are probably all similar...but I will take my chance on a new company. Be careful, many are affiliated... Do your homework.

I submitted a service request to AHS for my air conditioner that is covered under by AHS warranty. $100 service call fee was deducted from my account. A service contractor came out and looked at my unit and informed me there was a leak and they would talk with AHS. I received an email from AHS to inform me that they only covered $10 per pound of refrigerant. A week later, the contractor called to set up the repair and asked if the technician had informed me of the cost of the refrigerant? I said no, but I received an email from AHS telling me they only covered $10 per pound. I inquired about the cost and she told me it was 90 to 100 dollars per pound. I asked how many pounds did my unit require? She said between 6-10 pounds as the technician indicated it was very low.

I indicated, I would like to get additional estimates for the cost of the refrigerant and could they just repair the leak in the coil that she informed me that could be soldered. She said no, because they would have to test their work. I declined their services and sought a 2nd opinion from another company not associated with AHS. The 2nd opinion came out and did a leak detection and found a leak and a restriction in the system and after charging the system, the compressor shut down. They gave me an estimate to replace the evaporator coil and compressor. They also recommended replacing the unit as the current R22 refrigerant was being phased out next year.

I contacted AHS on 2/8/2019 to discuss the findings of the 2nd opinion. They informed me that their authorized contractor indicated it could be repaired and they would not replace. I requested a different contractor come out as I did not trust the findings of the 1st AHS contractor due to poor reviews. I also indicated I did not want to be charged another $100 service call. I was informed that if the 2nd AHS contractor agrees with the 1st AHS contractor that I would be charged another $100 service fee which I refused. I was then informed by AHS that since I had someone else look at my unit and give me an estimate that was not an AHS contractor, they would not pay for any repairs or replace the evaporator coil or compressor. AHS has failed to honor my warranty.

This is not the first time they have denied coverage. Last year, they denied replacing a unit indicating the damage was caused by an animal urinating on the unit. I asked for the denial in writing and reason for the denial and never received it. I would not recommend AHS. They have no intention of honoring the warranty on large appliances as they have not honored 2 air conditioners in the last year for me.

The rep told me they were the only electrician and American Home Shield had no contractors closer. I find hard to believe with a company that has been in business for 45 years. He is telling me I have to go through an outside authorization and proceeded to run down a list of local contractors I could NOT contact. I have two contracts. One for my home and one for my parents' home. I want to cancel them both. I don't even have to energy to write all that I went through on this call.

I placed my original service call on 12/29/2018. I had 3 issues, 2 refrigerators and 1 dishwasher. The calls were pretty simple, the technician came out looked at the appliances and stated that there were really no serviceable issues, he wiped the dishwasher soap dispenser with vinegar and said it may not be opening because of hard water build up. The second was the refrigerator, he replaced the water spout and said that should fix the water drips. The last was the refrigerator and he said clean the bottom of the air flow and that should fix the issue.

After he left of course nothing changed, none of the items were repaired. We called a 2nd time and of course, I got the same song and dance, this time I insisted on some other repairs. He said he would need to call a plumber for the dishwasher as it was now a plumbing issue and for the refrigerators he needed to order parts.

On the 3rd service call after the company rescheduled twice, the supervisor came out and had no idea of what was happening with any of my repairs and said he had no parts for the service, so he basically came out for no reason. To this day I do not have any idea what is happening with the repairs and when you contact AHS they say you need to contact the service provider. I have called AHS 5 times with no resolution to my issues. American Home Shield is really quick to sign you up and debit your monthly fees but if an issue arises they are impossible to contact. Save yourself the frustration and headache and find a company that cares about customer service.

I had a washing machine repair issue that was requested on 1/20/19. The issue I originally had was that when I pressed the start button, nothing worked, no lights, no noise, nothing worked. Then when the Tech Miguel came I pushed the start button, it did not work as before. He pushed all the buttons and got it to work. He said they probably don't make the part anymore anyway. Then I told him about the water sitting in the tub. It just shows up. That's when he said he would need to order the water shut off connection (or something like that). Since he got the washer to work, I specifically asked, if I can use the washer. He said yes. I told him I turned off the water when I wasn't use it to make sure the water did not fill up the tub, since I had no idea why it was doing that. It took 2 weeks for the part to arrive.

When Miguel came back to install the part, it was the wrong part. He knew it when he looked at the part. Why did he not check the part before scheduling the appt. to have it installed. He was upset with the parts people. I said, "What about the customer. I had to take time off work for the appt." When he pulled the washer away from the wall to try and install the part, that when he realized it was the wrong part. The box had previously opened as it was not sealed. It should have been checked, prior to the appt. and reschedule if necessary. Then the washer was pushed back against the wall, since the part could not be installed. He was concerned about the Dryer vent not being crushed.

In his effects to push back the washing machine her did not place the Drain hose back in the drain hole on 2/8/19. I did a load of wash on 2/9/19 and when I went to check on it, the entire laundry-room, a closet, A hallway, and the carpet into a bedroom was completely flooded. All because the tech did not replace the drain hose back in the drain hole. There is no excuse for such absent mindedness. Due to the flooding it caused the shoe boards/kick plates to pull away from the wall in laundry room, down the all, etc. I called immediately to one of the service line phone numbers. No answer, I left a voice mail, never received a callback. I called two different phone nos. leaving two separate messages. Still no reply as of 11:15 am 2/11/19.

We are dealing with water, which causes MOLD. I called the main American Home Shield line, and as of yet, no action has been noted on my Complaint account. Customer service, Joy was excellent. She tried to verify what action if any has been started. She spoke to the Tech, Miguel who of course said I was not to use the washer. Which was completely false. His first trip on 1/20/19, I asked if I could use the washer he said yes. The problem with the washer did not interfere with me doing a load of wash. The problem was Miguel did not replace the drain hose in the drain hole. The washer stands on a riser which makes it impossible for me to the drain hose when doing the wash. If I had known about his mistake, I certainly would have fixed it myself.

The repair option, forces me to buy a new expansion tank (even though it’s not bad), claims they have to redo to ventilation pipe (even though it’s PVC and ported to the outside) and that they are required to bring it up to current code... Even though after 6 phone calls to American Home Shield and the vendor, no one will answer why it is out of code. AHS is basically a, customer funded, lead generation service, disguised as a home warranty company.

I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim for both sections of my refrigerator. The freezer and the regular side were frozen. I couldn’t keep fresh vegetables or water on the regular side of the refrigerator. It was very easy submitting a claim over the phone. Everybody was respectful. Also, the techs were awesome. I've dealt with that company before and everyone that they have sent out happened to be polite and business-like. I'm a senior and they talked to me and told me what was what in a very easy way to understand. That company has been great to me. They came out the first time, and they had to order a part for the refrigerator. But I had called them back because I started smelling Freon. It's not the techs fault. It's just that the icebox is old.

The other thing is, the cost of the plan is getting a little bit out of my hand because I'm on a fixed income. The cost goes up every year. Also, there was one worker who came out. I paid him but he told AHS that I didn’t pay him. AHS took care of everything. They have always helped me and have been nice. American Home Shield is a good company.

I waited 45 minutes and even up to an hour on somebody to talk to me on the first or second claim I had. It was so boring. The initial visit by Vic’s Heat and Air went great and the tech was very cooperative. I got a couple of emails from American Home Shield, but I haven’t responded to them because as far as I’m concerned, the claim is still in limbo. When the heater quit, the tech came out and attempted to fix it, although it solved its own problem. I’ve been waiting and Vic told me about how to read the code if there is a blinking light down on the burner, but nothing has happened as usual. Whenever the mechanic shows up, nothing happens and I haven’t had a problem in 10 days, so I don’t know whether or not to go ahead and close the thing out. But I’m very satisfied with him and AHS.

There was a problem with my toilet and so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. When I called the first time, I had no problem. They sent RK out. There were two toilets, and they had to replace a faucet on my sink in the kitchen. They took care of that and it was fine. They also took care of the toilet that was in my master bathroom. But the problem was when they came the first time for the toilet that's used for the rest of the house, they thought it was fixed. They left and that same day, I called them back saying the same thing is happening.

They said I have to recall so I called AHS. They gave me a recall and sent RK back out again. RK redid the same thing. They changed the little gasket on the bottom of the tank and they said everything was fine. Well, no less than six hours later, I called them again and they said they don't know how they can fix it. I told them that I have been with American Home Shield for 14 years and I've never had a problem with it before. They got to either repair it or take the inside of the tank out and replace the parts.

So, I did another recall. They came back out again and did the exact same thing. The fellow who was here last Friday seemed to be the one who knew about Kohler toilets. What he found was inside the actual unit that goes down to close off the water, there was some kind of a washer. It was a Styrofoam or a cotton washer that had dislodged. He thought that fixed it but an hour and a half later, I called the company and told them that that washer may be what the problem was, and if it's not there, it's going to be a problem.

They said they haven't heard back from American Home Shield. I called them on Monday, Tuesday, and on Wednesday. And the guy told me that on Friday, it seems that American Home Shield told them that they have to reassign it to get a second opinion. So now, AHS is sending out another plumbing company called Supreme and hopefully, when they come out, they'll fix it.

I just had to do an air condition and a water heater put in, and AHS didn't pay for the whole thing, but I only paid for part of it, and I've never had a problem. But I called the Kohler about this toilet and they said this is what they call phantom flushing. I explained everything to the engineer on the phone and he said the problem was if the fitting that goes down to close off the water isn't there, it will seep through.

He asked me if I can get any food coloring and put a couple of drops in the tank. He also told me to turn the water off to the tank, stir it around and see if in my bowl, the color is appearing. That's exactly what happened. And he said the problem was the seal was not sealing properly. I asked what the remedy is and he said the only remedy is to have the techs take out that whole piece. Water in Tucson is very expensive. It's costing me and I tried to explain that to RK. But they said they can't do anything about it and can't figure out what the problem was.

My contract says if they can't fix my toilet, they got to replace it. It's not a lot of money. But this was three days and four hours that I have to wait for them to come. And another four hours for the other company to come. I'm retired and it's still quite an inconvenience. Nevertheless, every time I've called, all the girls that I dealt with were very nice. AHS has been very nice as well.

I initially called in for my furnace in November but the company American Home Shield out to my home didn't fix the problem. The heater would turn on then turn off seconds later and when it did stay on, it wasn't heating. So for two months, I didn't turn on the upstairs heater until it got really cold. Then I told myself I needed to call American Home Shield.

I usually file claims online but I did this over the phone because I specifically wanted to ask the customer service rep not to send the first company back to my home. Doing it online is faster because you do have to wait forever for someone to answer the phone. It would be over 50 minutes. But when you go online, there's not a section for comments. Sometimes, the consumer doesn't know what the issue is and by talking to a customer service rep, a lot of times, they would say, "Oh okay, it sounds like it's this. Is it doing this?" So I prefer to speak to someone. But if I don't have a question about what to put online, if it falls under plumbing or electrical, then I just submit the claim online myself.

For this request, I really thought American Home Shield was gonna say no and tell me that was who they were sending. But I was very adamant. I had paid $75 in November and the problem did not get fixed. So I told them to please send somebody else out there that could get a second opinion on why the heater was not working. It happened fairly quickly too, and there was not a problem at all. They understood my situation. The rep also asked me questions – which you can't do online – like whether I had one furnace or two. That makes a difference because with American Home Shield, if you only say one thing, that's all they would fix then they would have to come back. If you say it's one electrical but there were two, they wouldn't bother fixing the other one because that wasn't on the request.

When contractors come, I usually take the day off and I'm by myself. The first company sent three men to my home at the same time and I think that's a safety issue. I'm in law enforcement and I wouldn't like that for anyone. With the second company, there was one person and he even took the time to talk to me. He asked what I thought was happening. I told him and he stayed there. The other company was there for about 15 minutes. Maybe it was also because there were three people. But the guy from the second company took his time.

It was the first time that American Home Shield sent Grady's Air Conditioning Services to my home, and they were professionals. The gentleman was there for over 30 minutes. He was coming in and out of the van. I guess he was trying to find tools. He found the problem and fixed it. He also explained what the problem was. He had to replace a part and he even took the part. He wrote it down and showed me. It was a very pleasant experience, unlike the one with the company in November. The heater works perfectly fine now and I was happy that the house would be warm again. If I need that service again, I would probably not file the claim online. I would call American Home Shield and ask if they could please send the same company. A lot of times, American Home Shield would say no. I guess they want to give all their vendors an opportunity to go out on calls. But I was very pleased with the guy from Grady's.

I really think I still need to file a complaint with American Home Shield though. I'm in Houston and sometimes we don't have a very cold winter. But it was very uncomfortable for two months because I was afraid to turn on the heater. I didn't know what the problem was when the company had told me it was fixed. I didn't wanna have to start a fire.

As a matter of fact, I did send American Home Shield an email and they sent that first company back that same day. But I didn't open the door because one of the gentlemen was practically banging on my door. I could tell he was angry from the way he was knocking. So I had a very bad experience with that company. I know other coworkers who had American Home Shield and we would just frown like, "Oh yeah, they sent that company." But I've had American Home Shield for close to 15 years and I always recommend them. Sometimes, you have a good experience with them and sometimes you don't. But overall, I've had good experiences with them.

They sent a guy from iPlumb in the evening who tore up our ceiling and told us that they don't cover burst pipes. I asked him what I should do and he told me that he could fix the problem for me at a decent amount. I was desperate then because we hadn't had water all day as I turned it off and it was the weekend the next day, so I told him to fix the problem.

The next day I called American Home Shield and they told me that they would note everything down and then they would call me back. They didn't. I called them and they told me that they would look into the issue. I told the rep that that was not the answer I was waiting for and that it took so long and nobody answered me. I asked what the information was, what I could do and if they could reimburse me the money. The rep told me that what happened wasn't covered because that was what iPlumb told them. I asked for a supervisor but the supervisor told me the same thing. She also told me that my house is very old when it's not. It's only 13 years old and I bought it new.

This is very wrong. American Home Shield should reimburse me because it was an emergency and I was desperate. It wasn't something that can wait like a washing machine, where they could tell me I would have to wait for four days and it's gonna be okay. It was a burst pipe, water burst and there was no hot water in the house. American Home Shield should have considered it that way. All my relatives have an American Home Shield warranty and they will know what happened.

I had a fluorescent light that went out and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. I did it online and navigating their website was easy. The technician was fine. He was friendly and did his job in a timely manner. He had to replace the whole light instead of just the ballast because it wouldn’t fit. After the repair, the fluorescent light has been working fine. I’ve had American Home Shield for 10 years and they have always been right on it. Every once in a while, they send somebody who’s new but the service usually goes okay.

Our new refrigerator kept tripping the breaker every so many minutes, so we needed American Home Shield to have someone come out and take a look at it. Filing a claim with them was super easy and definitely very simple. Within the next half hour, the contractor called me and the service was easy to schedule. Two guys came out. One of them was helping and the other guy was performing the work. They were very easy to talk to. They explained everything well. I asked them questions and they were responsive and looked me in the eye. They were able to fix it very quickly.

Plus, I'm extremely satisfied with my interactions with the plumber. They had to go there four times in order to get the job done because we had to do some work prior to them finishing the job, but they were very patient and cooperative. So far, all my experiences with AHS is superb and I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I had a clogged showerhead and a dripping faucet in the master. The kitchen faucet too was kinda clogged so I went to American Home Shield’s website to file a claim. It was good navigating through their website and when I put in a claim, I get an email right back. But it was frustrating trying to talk to a live person. There are some things that are not on their website to ask, like about a claim. Also, where do I click for a clogged showerhead on their website? There’s nothing there. Every time I try and call to ask questions I get disconnected. They need to answer the phone. People are on hold for 45 minutes. One time, it was two hours, and the lady said, “Hello?” And it was a question about my air conditioning and then she hung up on me.

I had a claim for a microwave put in but AHS would not replace it. They replaced the parts but the control panel was not fixed. The parts came in six weeks and the microwave worked but now, the control panel is acting up. It just shuts itself down and I can see it soon that it is not gonna work. I had to call AHS and they said that I had to redo a claim. So, I went online and tried to do something. It says there to let them know for any problem but there was nothing and it just brings me to pay the 100 bucks for the guy to come out. I did not want to do it at that time. I was on the phone in 15 minutes and they kept asking me every single time.

But when I filed the claim for the shower on a Saturday, a contractor came in contact with me that Monday. They fixed it and since it was a simple thing, there were no parts to order. He unclogged the showerhead and put a seal in the master. He also put a seal in the dripping faucet and unclogged the kitchen faucet. I was very happy with the contractors and their company.

My hot water heater tripped. I called American Home Shield for a claim and they sent someone out on the very same day. I could not stay home if the heater wasn’t gonna be repaired immediately. The fact that someone could come out the exact same day that I made the claim and fix it very quickly meant that I did not have to be inconvenienced by moving myself and my child anywhere else. The claims representative I talked over the phone to was very professional and courteous. I tried to get the repair added to another claim that I had coming for the same day, but they couldn’t do it because it was an appliance claim.

So then I got a phone call from the plumbing company. I was still at work when I made the claim and they called me almost immediately after I put in the claim. He offered to meet me at my house when I got off because he would be in the area. He was very timely and professional when he got there and he answered all of my questions. On top of doing the actual repair, he showed me where the thermostat was and told me other things that I could do because my hot water temperature was low and that was what tripped it. He told me a bunch of stuff about how he was repairing it and what I needed to do next time, so I could do it myself if I did not want to make a call.

Having American Home Shield is a great idea because as a woman, I don’t know how to fix stuff. There are some men who are very handy, like my dad. But he passed away and so after that, I signed up for American Home Shield. For someone who doesn’t know much about home maintenance, the warranty is really beneficial. In requesting for service, submitting claims online is easier because if you're on the phone, sometimes you're put on hold and you gotta wait. Most recently, American Home Shield sent a guy from Premier Appliance. I thought my washing machine was broken but he looked at it and figured out that it wasn’t actually broken. He was able to tell me what the problem really was and was very professional. I'm sure if my washing machine had really been broken, he would have also fixed it very well.

Other than him, the technicians that American Home Shield has sent out have been great too. The guy who came out to inspect my heating system before was great. He did a good job. Then the guy who came out to put a new capacitor on my heat pump was good too. He recommended a service that I did pay for then he went ahead and did it that day, which was great. My air conditioner was back up and running. So I'm really happy with American Home Shield.

The first time I did a plumbing request, the vendor it was given to never contacted me so I had to call and switch vendors. The shower valve was messed up and I had one guy come out for it. I thought it was fixed but then it ended up still wonky. The contractor responded via text to me, scheduled and then came out three days later. They fixed the problem that second time around and everything’s fine now.

I contacted AHS in early January because my fridge was not keeping its temperature. I was sent a provider called Preferred AC and Appliance who diagnosed the issue and said we needed a new control board and temp sensors. After waiting for the parts to be delivered for 3 weeks because that is the soonest AHS suppliers could get it to the repair shop the tech showed up to install things yesterday. Prior to his arrival, the fridge couldn't keep temp or make ice, but at least I was able to get filtered water out of it.

After the tech "installed the fix", I now find that water won't dispense out of the fridge and pointed this out to him. He suggested it was an issue with the filter and that maybe now we needed a new ice making unit. Well, I spend $50 on an new filter, even though the one that was in there was 2 weeks old and what do you know it didn't work, but he was long gone of course. Now 24 hours later of course, the fridge temperature issue isn't fixed and now the one thing that was working now also doesn't work so the issue is actually worse. I called AHS and asked that a new company be sent out to review the issue since I didn't think that their original provider had diagnosed the issue properly and had actually made the situation worse. I was told by a supervisor that they could have a recall with Preferred with no additional cost and that they would send a lead tech or I could have a new company come out for an additional $75 service fee.

So now I've got to wait for this recall for a company that AHS hired who has horrible local reviews on Yelp (40 reviews - 30 are 1 star) or pay more money because the company AHS assigned couldn't do the job in the first place. Meanwhile, my family with two small children does not have a fridge and now doesn't have our usual family source of water available for over a month. Also in trying to follow up on this issue over the last month my wife and I have spend all in probably 5 hours on the phone with AHS on hold, or waiting for supervisors, or getting "disconnected with no call back" or just not being updated when updates were promised. Why am I paying AHS $55 per month again...?

However, I've called American Home Shield twice and I'm a little upset that I haven’t gotten a callback from them. The last time, they just told me that I have to wait and that maybe, by the end of the week, someone would call me. I told them that we didn't have a washing machine but they told me that that was the way the process works. It's hard to depend on that if it's gonna take that long. If I have coverage, they should be able to get me back running and going. I would not recommend American Home Shield and I'm looking to see if I can find another company.

We had an issue with the furnace as it would not turn on and ignite so I went online and put in the work order to American Home Shield. Everyone at the customer service did really well. Airtemp came immediately and fixed the problem. It was a very good experience. However, the first service that we put in was when the dishwasher broke and was not draining properly. I tried to get in touch with someone because that service was absolutely horrendous and I wasn't able to. It went on for almost three weeks because the first technician who came over evaluated that there were several things wrong and they had to order parts. So, he ended up ordering six parts that came to the house over a period of two weeks. Then, the same technician came back and said that the right part was not ordered and we had to wait another week for it.

At that point, I complained directly to the service provider telling them how was it possible that a dishwasher would take over three weeks to get resolved. They said that they would send over their specialist. When the specialist came, he just used one of the seven parts that they ordered to fix it and got it done in less than a half hour. I wanted to express to American Home Shield that I don’t know how much they are paying them, but they came out three times to fix and ordered several parts that they didn’t even use.

I paid the service fee once, which was fine, but the reason why I called American Home Shield and left a message for someone to call me was that I didn’t want American Home Shield to get abused by their service reps. I hope they didn’t charge AHS for all of the parts ordered. Also, I wasn’t too happy with the fact that I had to wait almost three weeks, through the holiday season, to get my dishwasher fixed because they were sending out the wrong person for a simple part that only took a half hour.

When I get the customer's satisfaction, it's really geared towards pressing it to say how satisfied I am. It was not so easy to navigate if you were dissatisfied or that you felt that American Home Shield was being taken advantage, which in this particular case, it was both me and American Home Shield that was taken advantage in the situation. They should have a little bit more flexibility on that. Nonetheless, everything about their customer service has been fine.

We had a leak where the Freon is put in. It’s almost like a bicycle tire except that little valve in the center in the stem, where it was leaking at. 18 months ago, we had Johnson Controls. They came out here, said there was a leak, and they replaced the whole line. But apparently, it wasn’t the line. Instead, it was that little bit piece. We wound up paying a bunch of money to get that done but it was not fixed. So, this time, somebody came out and fixed it.

Whenever I submit a claim through American Home Shield, it has been easy. I do it online most of the time but I also do it on the phone every once in a while. My interaction with their reps was fine. The only time we’ve called in was because something that we thought was covered but they said it wasn’t, and when they needed more information.

Most of the contractors they sent out did a very good job. Every once in a while, there has been some that we’ve semi-complained about. One of them was Johnson Controls. When they came out and work on our system, it took me four months of bugging them before they finally sent me an itemized bill. I wasn’t very happy because normally, whenever you have an air conditioner, you meet a problem. And if there is a leak, sometimes, they’re gonna replace the line. They’ll suck out all the Freon that’s in there, and they’ll put it in a holding tank. And then, once it gets fixed, they’ll put it back in and then refill with everything else.

If I have a 10-pound system, and they’re able to take 4 pounds out. They’ll put that 4 pounds back in, then I’ll pay for 6 more. But these people didn’t. They said they didn’t save any of it so we had to pay for 10 pounds. It was roughly $110 a pound and it gets to be expensive. But then, we found out later, they said they put R22 in there. They rolled the lid of the air conditioning system, but they put 407C in there, which is a new stuff. It’s only $70 a pound, but we paid for $110 a pound so we were ripped off at roughly 300 bucks.

We called American Home Shield when they authorized the replacement of the air handler in the attic. The other company charged us $150 to remove the old one, which I paid because that’s not normal charge. But two and a half years later, I was up in the attic doing something, and I’ve noticed there was something behind the air handler. It was the old one. They didn’t take it out. I called American Home Shield about it, and they said that the company’s no longer in business. Other than that, I'm happy with American Home Shield. I’ve heard from the last couple of contractors that they are one of the better companies to have for a home warranty.

Whenever I submit claims to American Home Shield, it's good 99% of the time. We had a plumbing issue which was not covered, and that was a big chunk of change. But other than that, they’ve been good. Their service is excellent and they’re usually right on it. If I submit my claim online, they’ll send a notice through text and email within minutes saying that they’ve assigned a contractor to call me within 24 hours to set stuff up. I find their site very easy to use as well.

The majority of my interactions with the contractors have been very good. The technicians are very friendly and knowledgeable. When one of the bearings and one of the rollers of my dryer were shut, the contractor All in One Appliance Repair replaced those pieces. The guy disassembled the dryer and fixed it in less than an hour. Then we’ve had an experience with one plumbing company that I basically gave 0 rating. The guy was rude and he did not fix the problem initially. He ended up having to come out the second time and he wasn’t happy to come back. Hopefully, American Home Shield won’t be using them anymore. I’m very pleased with American Home Shield and I prefer them over the other company that we had before. I’d rather crank out the monthly charge instead of having to fork out a whole lot of money to get something fixed. It’s much more economical having them in the long term.

We have a furnace that is about 20 years old. It was installed by an outfit called ASI, they're a big heating and air conditioning outfit in San Diego. We have it inspected every year and this year, when they came out during the inspection, they took some photographs inside the furnace. They said that the heat exchanger was badly corroded and that it was subject to cracking, and they couldn't predict when. Therefore, they were recommending that the furnace be replaced.

The furnace functions, but we're both in our mid-70s, and we have this picture painted by ASI, of the threat of carbon monoxide being exposed into our vent. It doesn't smell, you can't tell that it's there. We've got some carbon monoxide detectors that are plugged into locations around the house but we are afraid to use the furnace. So, we haven't used it since and we made the claim under American Home Shield. My reasoning was that the furnace is rendered dysfunctional by virtue of the fact that we're fearful to use it, don't wanna die in our sleep from carbon monoxide poisoning.

AHS diligently sent out a nice guy and he put this camera into the furnace and he didn't seem to be able to see the corrosion that the ASI guy showed. I gave him the photos that the ASI guy had given us. I don't know whether we were being hustled for a new furnace by ASI or not. But I have no reason to believe that ASI was being fraudulent in the photos that they shared with us. I stood with them, they took the photos and then texted the photos to me on my phone number. The guy that AHS sent was really very candid. When he stuck his camera in, I stood there right with him. We looked and he didn't seem to be able to find the location of the corrosion that the ASI guy had measured and had seen, he didn't seem to be able to duplicate the photos. But he took what photos he could base on where he thought the heat exchanger was inside and said that he'd report to AHS.

I've been a lawyer for over 40 years and I've done insurance defense work for auto policies and homeowner's policies. It seems to me that if American Home Shield writes the policy, it doesn't consider this kind of a scenario wherein if there's a crack caused by the corrosion, through which carbon monoxide is arguably coming into the house at some level. AHS does not cover something that is not dysfunctional. Then even though the furnace actually runs, the burner runs, the fan runs, the blower runs, I think AHS has a problem on their hands in terms of their coverage. They could get themselves in some trouble in terms of insurance bad faith. It's something that they need to consider.

AHS has been great on the other claims that we've handled though. We pay our premiums dutifully and we had the coverage for quite a while and they've done right. AHS is pretty good as far as this claim is concerned. It's been easy working with them but we did have a situation where American Home Shield assigned an independent contractor to come out and take a look at the furnace. And it rained a little bit and the guy basically blew us off after an attempt to have them visit the house. That was a terrible experience. Then said he had problems getting a hold of us. That was very dissatisfying. But then American Home Shield picked somebody else to come out and take the place of this first guy they selected and he was dynamite.

I had a magnet with my claim number on my refrigerator, so it was just a matter of putting in the number and explaining what was going on with my faulty appliance. I did this prior to business hours at around 6:00 in the morning and around 7:30, I got a call. A company contacted me but that company couldn’t handle the claim because they didn’t deal with water-sourced heat pumps.

I spoke with American Home Shield when I was waiting to be scheduled with a second company. I got a live person on the line and that was a couple of days later. The second guy from Genesis was great because he had a very small bag with him that had his tools. I didn’t know if he was gonna be able to fix it with just that but all he needed was a screwdriver in his hands and he was able to fix everything. So, I was impressed. American Home Shield is a good investment because had I just called the number on the side of the machine for service, then I probably would have paid a lot more than $75 to get assistance.

The last claim we had with American Home Shield was our washing machine which wasn't cycling right. It would slide in to rinse and when it did that, it would go back to wash again and it wouldn't spin right. We called American Home Shield and I didn't have any problem with them, other than they kept sending the same guy out to fix the machine. I don't think he knew what he was doing. He didn't say the washer couldn't be fixed. He changed out a part in the control dial, then he wound up and changed out the motor. It never got fixed.

The last guy sent out tried to pull up and see what had been done to the washer, but he couldn't find anything on it. He wound up telling AHS, "The only thing I can do to possibly fix it is to go in and rebuild everything. You'll probably spent $1,000 trying to get this washing machine fixed. There's no guarantee that it will work then." So, AHS finally gave up on the idea of fixing it and they had us go to their website and pick out a washer. It didn't take very long to send the guy out, but it took over a month for us to wind up finally getting a new washing machine. The experience with American Home Shield was worse this time than it has ever been. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied. Our air conditioner is a 1993 model train, but it works well. We knew we had an electrical issue. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online and it's very simple. I tried calling before and it was a nightmare. You’re on hold for at least 30 minutes. My average hold is an hour. The contractor came in and my mom was home that day. He came in and had it figured out within a few minutes and got it taken care of. My mom said he was a very nice person. He did a great job. Everything’s working fine.

We’ve also had a few issues with our massive, commercial Viking refrigerator. This last issue, they’re still working on it. It took a while to get the part, which is fine. But when it was gonna take a while, I got a phone call from American Home Shield offering me $300 to buy me out of my $12,000 refrigerator because the part was gonna take a while. That's comical. Why would I take $300 for a $12,000 refrigerator? The young lady who called was very nice. I know she was doing her job. But, seriously, who would take that deal? The guy came out and said the part that was sent was broken, and then he tried to pull the refrigerator out and he hurt himself. I called his company today to finally get them. They need two people to come out to pull the refrigerator away from the wall.

The other issue is with the payment. There always seems to be an issue. I don’t wanna pay for it until the service is done. But it seems to always get messed up, and then I have to call and be on the phone for an hour. And when I talked to somebody, unfortunately, it sounds like they’re not from here, and it’s very difficult to talk to somebody about payment issues.

However, that was not what I said. The one downstairs was working but it was not working correctly, while the one upstairs wasn't working.

Everything was rough and I get upset every time I think about her. She talked over me again and again. The next day, however, I got a different lady who was just the cutest person in the world. No problem there. But then I called to correct and to report the other things, and when I called back again and to have them come out for the second story central unit, I got Selina again. After I waited for 30 minutes to get somebody, she got on the phone and started talking. I said she needed to speak slower, but she kept going.

Finally, I asked her to transfer me to a different customer service representative. She said, "One moment please." Then she hung up on me. I've been with American Home Shield for six months now and that is poor customer service. The contractors that have come out were excellent though. The electric dryer wasn't working. I called American Home Shield and they had a guy come out to the house. It's a rental for us, so they worked with the tenants to arrange a good time and then diagnosed what was wrong with it. It was the control panel and they ordered the part and arranged another time to come out and fix it. But it took a little bit of time. It took over two weeks from the time they left the house initially to order the part and then get back to them. Other than that, everything was fine.

I have been with American Home Shield since I bought my house in 2016 and I haven't had any issues with them at all. Every time I made a request, it was very simple and cut-and-dry. Recently, I submitted a claim because my heater was blowing up cold air. I asked for someone to come and fix it. Within a couple of hours, I got a call from the contractor, Family Heating & Cooling. Their service was very straightforward and professional. They told me when the technician would be out. I asked if they would mind sending text messages to give me a heads-up so I could get home from work and meet the technician, and they did that. The technician came in, diagnosed everything within five minutes, and did the repair. It was a 30-minute process. Since the repair, the heater works and so I'm happy.

When the defrosted board went out on our HVAC unit, I filed an online claim and American Home Shield called me. They asked what was going on and I told them we’ve got a problem. The compressor and the fan on the compressor unit weren't coming on, so the heat we were getting was just the emergency backup. It wasn’t heating the house, so we had to rely on the wood-burning stove to heat the house.

The contractor who was sent out took a look at the unit and told me what it needed. It’s an old unit, so they had to get the replacement part from the manufacturer. When they got the part, the tech came back and put it in. The contractor was very friendly and polite. They always put on their little booties before they came into the house. Plus, they called me to let me know in advance when they were coming out. Once they got the unit fixed, it was able to heat the house up to keep the household warm. Overall, I had a very good experience with American Home Shield.

My hot water tank was shutting off every day. I called in a claim with American Home Shield and they sent out C & J Services LLC. The tech arrived after a couple of days and he was great. He fixed the relay switch and it was crazy because it was the same thing that we had fixed a year ago. So before I even reached out to AHS, I called the contractor first to tell them that and to ask if there was any coverage on the repair.

But their rep said that I had to resubmit a claim through your Home Shield again and go through that directly. I didn't like that because I'd be paying out of my pocket every time the techs would come out and do it. And I personally know that to fix that would cost less than my deductible. But I didn't wanna take a chance on that because if I didn't know what was going on with the tank, then I'd add up a service call and I'd have to pay that service call. And later I'd fin myself turning around and using the contractor that Home Shield provided. So, I'd take the chance on the scene. Other than that, everything has been working perfectly since the repair and now we don't have to go out and switch on the hot water tank to get our water for showers. So, it saves up about 40 minutes a day.

I got up one morning and the heater was not working. It was blowing cold air. So I went online and placed a request with American Home Shield. They got back to me within a very short period of time and told me who they were gonna send out and that they would be contacting me. Then this company called in that afternoon and set up an appointment for the following day. They got out as quickly as they could, but just before they arrived, the heater was back on and I couldn't believe it. The repairman checked everything, went up into the attic and cleaned everything in case dust or dirt was causing a misreading on the system, but he couldn't find anything specifically. Then he left me his direct line in case that it continued or if it starts doing it again so that we can get the appointment set up quickly. The repair service that AHS recommended was excellent.

The issue was taken care of realistically by AHS. They stepped up, and they took care of it quickly and efficiently. Even though it turned out to be nothing, I couldn't ask for a better service. It was fast and excellent, and everything has been working like a charm since the service call. When you submit a claim online, there's always that question at the back of your mind, "Has somebody seen it? Did it send into the right spot? Did it get kicked out?" AHS, however, didn't leave me hanging, wondering if somebody got my email or any of this stuff. Instead, they let me know quickly, and that is all I could ask for.

We had a water leak coming from the top of the inside of the refrigerator, just below where the freezer wire was. We looked at it, went online and somebody said that the freezer probably had too much product in it and that sometimes it might thaw a little bit. We decided to go that route and we took everything out. We thought it worked but two days ago, it started to leak again. At this point, we had a full refrigerator and freezer. The last time I did a claim to American Home Shield, one of the reps mentioned that I could also do the claims online. I recently changed my credit card and I saw the area. I went online and did the request fast. I got a reply within a couple minutes, as far as who’s coming out, which was awesome.

The contractors came out two days later and did a great job. The technician did a fantastic job. He was very professional and courteous. Since they came out, the refrigerator has been running well and the gentleman told us to keep it as long as we can. Apparently, the new ones are having the same problems. As they get older, stuff starts to get stuck and the air vent is more difficult to try and clean out. Overall, I now no longer have to worry about the water leak going down to my food. So, it makes it a lot easier. Having a warranty is quite valuable especially because I’m living in a house that’s 28 plus years old. Most of the equipment are about five years old, so to pay only $49 a month is well worth it.

Some of my experiences with American Home Shield are great and some are not. My concern is that I come out with the benefit of having an insurance for my home and because there are some things that you can do on your own. But so far, all the technicians and the people that I’ve dealt with have turned out to be really positive. I had issues with my washing dryer, my dishwasher and my microwave. I called AHS and the reps were helpful, kind and knowledgeable. The techs repaired it all for one service call fee, and I was happy with that. They made me feel special because of the things that they told me and the things that they helped me through. If I had called a regular service person, I wouldn’t have accomplished as much as I did.

However, the most negative experience I had was with the heating service people when they came out to deal with the furnace. Those people were greedy and gave me a big deal on how much it will cost and it was almost $6,000. They also misinformed me, made me cry and upset me to the point that I didn’t wanna deal with them anymore. Also, they put me in charge with somebody that was going to lend me the money, so I would have to take a second mortgage on my home to get my furnace fixed. I’m a single woman and I’m on a fixed income. I didn’t wanna do that.

The things on the list were some overcharges for Freon and things that I really didn’t have to have repaired. And so at the end of the day, I talked to my brother and because we come from a home repair background service, he told me that I could get somebody to handle those things and I didn’t have to have this and that. I ended up getting a private contractor who was knowledgeable in the field of heat and air. AHS sent me a check of $700 some and I paid the rest and the man charged me $1,700. He came out and repaired the heat and did some things, and I didn’t have to have all the stuff that they did. But it just seemed to me that they were trying to sell me a new unit when at that time I really couldn’t afford a new unit.

But then when I called AHS they brought to my attention that it seems like I was doing insurance fraud. I don’t understand why would I pay $59 a month and then get treated with so much dishonesty because the Freon in the heating unit was $149 per pound and the unit clearly say this is a 5-pound unit. They charged me on the bill for 8 pounds of Freon. The rep gave me a certificate for the next service call, which was when Potate’s came in.

I wasn’t going to deal with it anymore but the rep made me realize that I hadn’t been into it for two or three months. Even so, Potate’s came in and did above and beyond. They were really nice people and I was so pleased with how they handled things because they weren’t dishonest. Even though it took a long time to get it done, I was patient and they were too. Everybody was happy.

Then American Home Shield called me a couple days later saying that they couldn't get the parts, so they were just gonna get me a whole brand new dryer. Having a home warranty is valuable especially for someone who's a first-time homeowner. It is really helpful to have somebody else to come out and fix the issue. Recently, my heating unit wasn’t working. It was 14 degrees here and was lower due to the wind. It was the worst day for my heat to break. I called to submit my claim to American Home Shield. I waited on hold for 30 minutes to get a person on the phone but after I was about to hang up, I got somebody and she was very helpful. It was a very quick interaction and it was good. I left work and then I got a message from the contractor saying that they were gonna contact me. I ended up calling him directly and he said he would be at my house within an hour.

The contractor who came was very friendly. He was here for less than 30 minutes and he got the heater working. I told him what was going on, and then he asked me about the thermostat and if I had changed the battery, which I hadn’t. He then asked to see the heating system in the basement, I showed that to him, and then he told me that the pilot light was out, and it was the only problem. He showed me how to reset it myself. He told me I should schedule a service with whatever company I needed to. He wasn’t able to do a full service on it because it's a three-hour project and that wasn’t part of the appointment that I have. He suggested that that I change the battery on the thermostat. It worked the rest of that day, then I woke up the next day and it was off again. Since the contractor told me how to reset it, I did it, got batteries and that fixed the problem.

My husband submitted a rekeying claim with AHS over the phone and he was on hold for 30 minutes when he was trying to make the service request. The rekeying went well. It was fast and easy. The tech was very quick and knowledgeable about what he was doing. Plus, some of the locks were already upside-down and when he did the rekey, he switched them to make them upright. We are covered for six locks but we had nine and had to pay for the three extra.

I was also on hold for a long time the day before yesterday when I had to call about the plumbing. I couldn’t make the request online and it was two days before I could get the lady on the phone because my account showed I had a past due balance, which was an error. They had to remove that and I had to wait on hold for 30 minutes for that before I could even make a request. I told the lady on the phone that we were having trouble with flushing the toilet. The water was also backing up in the tub and in the shower, so it was hard to bathe. I was told that a local carrier will be calling me. I called on Tuesday and today’s Thursday, but nobody has reached out to me yet.

Then, I talked to someone and they gave me a name and a number for the person that will be coming out and then we went from there. The contractor gave me a time that he was gonna be there and he came at the time he said. He got there and he looked at the problem. He started outside and then he came inside to see if he can resolve the issue. Then, he told me that I need to get an electrician out. So now, we’re in the process of getting an electrician out. I’m also a little frustrated because I wasn't expecting that they’re not covering any of the damage caused by the leaks.

He originally thought that the issue was with the indicator and so he cleaned that off. The unit worked for a day but it started acting up again. I went online and the guy came back out. There wasn't any additional charge as the appointment was an addition to the original call. He did further diagnostics and we realized that the problem was with the motherboard. He ordered that part, and a day and a half later, he came back and installed it. He was able to get the unit up and running in a timely fashion.

We have been with AHS for more than fifteen years. Over that time we have had numerous service experiences. For the most part they have been positive and we have referred friends and relatives to AHS. However, we have noticed over the past few years that the service providers they send out are not as professional or experienced as in the past. We have also noticed that AHS’s customer service is declining. It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to talk with someone who speaks the English language with proficiency.

My latest request was for service on my Electrolux dryer. I put in a request for service on January 20th. On January 24th a service provider sent out a technician. He arrived in a personal vehicle and he had nothing on him to identify that he worked for the company. I was a bit leery about letting him in, but because there were a number of family members in the house, I let him in. He looked at the machine (by that, I mean he turned it on and off), made his diagnoses, and said they would need to order a part and that someone would call to let me know when it came in. It was not until February 4th that someone was again sent out. This person also came in his personal vehicle and had nothing on to identify himself as working for a company. He came in and did nothing except to say that he disagreed with the first guy's diagnosis and that another part would need to be ordered.

On February 7th, I tried calling the company several times to see what was going on but the phone was never answered. I left messages but no one returned my calls. I then called AHS for the second time. That was a waste of about 40 minutes of my time. I explained what was going on. I requested another provider but was informed that I would be charged another service fee if another company was sent out. It was very hard to interpret what the person was saying and I asked to speak with a supervisor. That person was also very hard to understand. He was able to contact the service provider and he told me they would be calling to schedule yet another service call.

The next day the first guy came back out with the part the second guy said it needed. He put the part in and it did not fix the problem. I told him the other technician (and I use that term lightly) did not put in the other part that had been ordered. He said he would have to call it in and see if he could locate the part that had been ordered on January 25th and was supposed to be put in on February 4th. So it has now been 19 days since I put in the request for service and it is still not fixed. My view of AHS has declined greatly and primarily because of their lack of good customer service.

Told them that I would eat the price of the 189.00 faucet I bought and pay the service call, they told me NO! That they would put their own faucet in. It has been a nightmare from the start. I was sent a company (Grade A plumbing) that misdiagnosed my water heater problem then tried to say I was going to need to cut into my detached garage drywall to rectify. The very same day they installed the water heater I had no hot water after having some lukewarm water to begin with, and the company turned off my gas logs without letting me know. (In the winter).

AHS at least sent out another company to fixed the issue after I was not comfortable with the first one who did not install water heater properly. After that the pilot light kept going out on the water heater and I had to call to see what the issue was. The install company comes back out and said he is temporarily fixing the issue but will order new part to fix the issue. That was over 3 weeks ago. Called the install company (no response), manufacturer and AHS and still no replacement despite AHS assuring me it will be here in 1-2 business this past Monday 2/4/19.

As of this writing still no part to fix my problem. I have had no less than 5 appointments with plumbers since this started, which makes me have to take off work each time. Not to mention all the minutes on hold on the telephone. What should have been an easy install has turned into a series of bad experiences. I thought having a home warranty would make it easier to take care of my home.

I purchased the Seller Coverage Option as part of the Home Protection Plan with American Home Shield through Coldwell Banker. I was fully aware of what was covered when I placed my call to American Home Shield for electrical work. American Home Shield's preferred company for the work was Stilwell Plumbing/Mechanical. This company did arrive to assess the work that was requested. The technician that arrived was on time, very courteous and seemed knowledgeable yet when he reviewed the work needed with he he told me he could only do the job if I paid him an additional $300. I refused to pay and even made a note on the invoice that the items requested for repair were covered under the warranty.

I placed a call to Stilwell and was told someone would return my call. After waiting a day and a half I called back to American Home Shield. I do have to say I spoke to a very kind employee at American Home Shield who was able to tell me that American Home Shield did get a reply from Stilwell stating that they had completed all the work and American Home Shield paid Stilwell their $200 fee. So Stilwell did absolutely nothing to take care of the electrical needs at the home, tried to charge me $300 to do the work and then got paid $200 by American Home Shield for "completing" the work. As far as I know, American Home Shield is still using Stilwell Plumbing/Mechanical. This does not speak well of the type of care homeowners should receive from a Home Warranty Company.

I called in a repair on December 26th - my dishwasher stopped working on the 24th. I was assigned a company to complete the repair. I called the contractor on the 27th and again on the 29th. The call went to voice mail and the mail box was full. When I finally reached them on January 2nd, I was told someone would be out to take care of the problem that day and that he would call me to schedule. Their repairman called me and asked about the problem, I tried to explain the issue. He said it sounded like a problem with the pump and that he would order the part. I called a week later to obtain an update. Apparently the part was sent to the wrong location. He said he would let me know when it came in. When I reached out to the company a few days later, they said he would be back in touch.

He called me the following day and scheduled a time to come out and provided me with a two hour window of time. He never showed up and I had to call to follow up to see what was going on. When we spoke we agreed on another date and he provided me with a two hour window. He didn't show up. The third time we scheduled, he said he would show up at 9:00am. He showed up at 10:00am. He made the repair and left. The following day I ran the dishwasher and the it still had the same problem. I reached out to the company and they said that they would send him out again. He was scheduled to return the following day between 4:00 and 6:00. He didn't show!

I called his employer - the mail box was full, so I sent her a text. After a very rude exchange, I told her not to have anyone come out to fix the problem and that I would contact American Home Shield to be reassigned. I called AHS the following day but since it was a Saturday, nobody could assist me. They said that to be reassigned, I would need to pay for the service call again but if I were to call back the following Monday, they might be able to help. I called back on the Monday and after being on hold for 40 mins, I spoke with someone who was unable to help. She had me speak to someone else, who said that they could provide me with another contractor. A new company was assigned. I called them three times during the week and they did not return my call.

I called AHS again on the following Monday to let them know that I had not had any success reaching the new contractor. They called him and he called me back within a few hours. We scheduled a time for him to come out and he showed up. He took a look at the dishwasher and decided on the parts that needed to be ordered. He said he had to go through AHS to order the parts and that he would do so. When I didn't hear from him for a week, I called and his voicemail was full. I called two more times and then sent a text and I didn't hear back from him. On Monday, I called again and he said he would follow up with AHS to see the status of the parts. He said he would call me back with an update.

Today, Thursday, I still haven't heard from him. I left him a message earlier today before reaching out to AHS again. I was informed by AHS that no parts were ordered for the repair. I asked to speak to someone who might be able to assist me as I really would like to get my dishwasher fixed. I spent an hour on hold only to be told that they would try to call the contractor again. I asked not to be put on hold for a long time but after another 50 mins I was told that they couldn't reach anyone and that they would call me tomorrow. I am furious! This has been a huge waste of my time. It has been over six weeks since I placed the initial service request and nothing has been accomplished.

Recently, there was a company that American Home Shield sent out by the name of Shorty's Plumbing and they looked at the plumbing issues that I have. I had to replace my hot water heater and my commode had to be resealed and my faucet sink was still leaking. Sean came out and I told him that the city came out and told me I had to raise my hot water heater off the ground 18 inches. He said that it would be $450 and that we had to replace the hot water heater. That would be out of my money. He said that was modifications.

We moved in to my house to look at the kitchen faucet and I told him it was leaking there and we had to replace that. He said he was not going to give me a $299 faucet and he was only gonna make $50. I stopped him right there and said, "So basically, I'm sorry, what you're not gonna do is you're not going to put a sink in and only make $50, correct?" He said that there was a $140 upgrade fee but I told him my policy says that it would be replaced. Again, he kept going on and on, so I had to stop talking with him to go outside in my own yard and call American Home Shield.

There's also a bathroom issue. They changed the one in the bathrooms and he went to my master bath. He said something was broken, but he never took the toilet off to inspect it. So, I had to keep calling back and forth to American Home Shield. This gentleman came out here to tell me about the upgrades and there are no upgrades. Also, he told the company that I was asking for modifications. I was only doing what the city told me I had to do. They told me there'd be a $450 increase because I was asking for modifications. So, that's why I was not doing it.

I didn't feel comfortable with that plumbing company coming out again. American Home Shield called somebody to come and look at it again to make sure what the problem was. I had a second opinion and a guy came out and took care of my master bath. He did an outstanding job. When I called them to see when they were coming back out, I talked to a gentleman and he was supposed to call me back. I got off of work to wait for their phone call so I could take care of the problem at home. But he didn't call back so, I'm disappointed.

Also, a guy from American Home Shield said the only thing they could do was to send the first company back out. So, what they're doing is forcing a company on me that I told them is trying to scam the customer. Then, he said all they could do is cash me out. I don’t wanna be cashed out. I want my problem fixed. I pay the money every month. I don’t want to call them about it and have to pay a bunch of money to ask somebody to look at it again. All I'm asking for them to do is to honor my contract. I'm not a plumber so, I'm asking the experts to come out here and to evaluate my issues.

Before the plumbing issues, I was very happy with American Home Shield. Every time I had asked them to come out, they had. I've had situations in my house that they've taken care of for me and my family. We had an issue in the garage and James J. Floor came out and their guy took care of it. He was very professional and very knowledgeable. He knew everything and it didn’t take him long to do the job. I was very, very pleased with them. We pay an amount of money for the insurance and I'm fine with that. My family's comfortable and if something happens, we have insurance for the situation. I'm happy with the company, but I'm not happy with the plumbing situation.

We have been with American Home Shield since October 2016. Thus far, it has been easier for us to submit our claims online. We've had Action Appliance out a couple of times for the dryer and for the washer and dishwasher as well. We usually get a call that the tech is gonna come out, then he would come and take a look at what we have going on. We explain the problem to him and he would research it. He would take the machine apart and determine what the issue is. He then lets us know what the plan of action is at that point. One time, he was able to make the fix because he had the part, but the other two times, he did not have the parts and he had to order them, so he put everything back together and ordered the parts. Then, he came back with the parts to complete the repairs.

He had two open tickets -- one for the washer and one for the dishwasher -- and he combined the two of them. The dishwasher parts took a little longer to get in, but he came back once he had all the parts which took about a week. He explained to us that the part for the dishwasher could take a little while because it was an older unit. He said it may take a week or a week and a half to get the part in before he would come back and do it. The washer, on the other hand, was still functioning, so it was okay that he didn't have the part in as long as it still functions for us. We didn't have an issue with that as far as his time of service. He was very clear and he explained what he was doing. We were pleased with the service and there was no issue with that.

One issue we had was the folks that they sent out when we had our furnace looked at around the holidays. We understand that it gets busy during the holidays or there are fewer people, but they sent somebody from the Detroit area, so it took a while. Also, the techs didn't seem to be as professional as the other folks that we've dealt with and we were a little disappointed. Still, we've been satisfied with our experience with American Home Shield as far as them addressing our service calls is concerned.

They will not replace the quality that you have with what you have." I was very appreciative of the fact that he was willing to tell me that, and he went to the second and third step. He said, "Let me look at the serial number." He called InSinkErator right there, told them about the serial number and they agreed with him that it had a 12-year warranty. I paid 100 bucks for him not to do anything, but he gave me some great advice and saved me a lot of money in terms of what the disposal was. I'm getting the disposal replaced for free with one exactly like it.

I also appreciated the fact that he didn't just come in and tear out an incredibly wonderful disposal and replace it with something that was not up to standard and leave. He was very helpful and honest with me. We had called the guy who initially put the disposal in, and he came out and said, "It's out of warranty. I will replace it for $220 plus $50 to install it." He didn't even realize that the thing could be replaced. Overall the house is 15 years old, so having AHS is a great value.

I have a gas-fired boiler that heats our house, and one of the pipes above it was leaking. On the American Home Shield automated system, I chose the leaking pipe and a plumber came. The plumber said that it was not a plumbing issue, but an HVAC issue. Then the plumber put it in as expedited since we were having negative temperatures. My heater was working, but I was worried that it may not keep working or that something bad could happen.

I went back to work and then I got a call that the HVAC guy was gonna come. Later on that same day, I came back to meet the HVAC guy. But then he came and said that it was a plumbing issue. I told him that the plumber was here and he said that it was an HVAC issue because of the leak. So he took pictures and then he said that a plumber could’ve fixed it. I told him that the plumber didn’t fix it, then he said that he had to go back and report it. Then he left and didn’t give me paperwork. I heard from nobody. I called AHS and their call center was horrible because it was very hard to understand the people. The girl rep said that they would call me back, but they didn't call.

The next day, I called and asked them what was going on. This took me three days. So I could go online to my account and see that it was in some kind of a review or authorization. There were many hours that I lost from work and it was a total of four hours on the phone. There was the frustration of not understanding until someone finally told me that it's a law where I could demand to speak to someone that I could actually understand. It's only fair that I should be able to understand the person I'm speaking to.

These call center people told me that their system said that it was not normal wear and tear. Finally, I managed to get a number of their home office. Every time I called in there, I was on hold and get hung up on. I finally got a very nice lady, and I could understand her. She said that she was gonna look into it and get live information. They ended up sending back the original HVAC guy, and finally, he fixed it in 20 minutes.

I had opted for the option of paying after the work was completed because I preferred waiting until it gets fixed. But I saw that AHS charged me before the work was completed. I asked AHS why they did that, and they answered that the service call happened and people came to my house. I told them that they did come to my house but they didn’t fix the problem. Is that how it works? They show up, don’t fix the problem, and I still get charged. I'm gonna cancel my contract if that's what happens. I'm okay that it was charged because the issue got fixed, but I'll put in a complaint if they charged me twice. The HVAC guy came here twice, but he should've fixed it on the first time he came.

Other than that, everything has been working fine since the repair. It was a small piece of copper pipe they had to put in, and that was it. I understand the plumber's concern in not wanting to deal with it because it was HVAC. But for the HVAC guy, he just didn’t wanna do it that day. I had AHS do things before, and I haven't had an issue. But that one bad experience cost back and forth from work not once, not twice, but three times.

My experience with American Home Shield was good. My dryer stopped working and within 24 hours after submitting my request to them, I had a technician call me. He was trying to set up a time with me. Unfortunately, I was not available for any of the times that he threw out because I'm a single parent and I'm working. The technician actually worked on a Saturday so that he could come and service my home. He was awesome. I watched him take apart my dryer in five minutes. He knew exactly what he was doing. He fixed one problem but when he tried to turn the dryer on, it didn't work so he then fixed another problem. He was in and out within an hour and he totally rectified the situation. I was very happy with him.

When I had a couple of lights out in the ceiling, I called American Home Shield. The interaction with them was good but the follow-up was ridiculous. You can call and submit a claim, no problem, but that doesn't mean you're gonna get somebody out to look at your issue. It's a pain to get somebody unless you're calling at 2:00 in the morning or some off-time on a Sunday. Your normal wait time would be from 20 minutes to an hour. If you don't have that time, you can leave a message on there for them to call you back. I laid the phone down and just left them on speaker phone. They called back last year, but this last time they didn't. I called the first time and AHS was supposed to call me back within a day or two. I waited two weeks, and I called them back finally. Then the first company never called me back so I called AHS back and they sent another company, which was very good. They just made repairs. Having American Home Shield was worth it.

We noticed in the family room ceiling that there was a little water bubble and a little line. It was the upstairs master bathroom toilet. We turned the water off on it and submitted a claim to American Home Shield online. I was on the phone and was on hold a little while and stopped. I’ve had hip replacement surgery so I had to go lie down. When I got up, I just went online and it was easier and faster. I got an email from them the next day. The plumber said that the seal underneath was some different seal. It cracked so he replaced the seal.

Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been wonderful. We're new with them and just signed up October last year. Thus far the company has been great and the plumbers they sent out were awesome. The repairman too was so knowledgeable and explained everything thoroughly to us. He was a very pleasant guy and he put two covers on his shoes. We are very satisfied with both AHS and 2 Sons Plumbing.

I filed a claim for our heater that stopped working and All-Air Heating and Air was sent out. They were very professional. They gave me a timeframe of when they would be here. They showed up five minutes into that timeframe and they were done before the timeframe was over. I have recommended AHS to several people who have older homes. I told them that if they will have an issue, AHS will take care of it right away.

The fan motor of the air conditioning unit blew. We couldn’t turn it on because it sounded like it was fixing to explode outside. It was really bad and scary. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online. The site was good. The only thing was it didn’t allow for specifics between the air conditioning unit. I also did a follow-up call because it said that it would be 48 hours. It was super cold and I couldn’t turn the heat on. I asked if somebody can come out quicker and so they set the appointment for the next day, which was really awesome.

The tech who came out was polite and considerate. When he took apart the unit, he was good. He knew exactly what was wrong and repaired it super quick. I was so impressed by that. But when he pulled the lid off of the outside unit and disconnected the wires, he was a little bit rough. He just lifted it and then yanked it out to loosen the wires instead of loosening those out of a hole. He also stepped on a plant and kind of freaked out. I also wanted him to check the duct work and a couple of vents because the airflow seemed a little bit restricted. But I didn’t wanna pressure him for the time since that wasn’t on the work order. Even so, his work was impeccable. After the repair, everything has been working perfectly. I can barely hear the fan motor running.

Submitting a claim online to American Home Shield was simple. I put in a ticket and a contractor arrived at my house the next business day. He was supposed to be there between 12:00 and 4:00 but he showed up at 4:30 which was fine. He looked at the system of my furnace and changed the fuse. He didn’t test it so, while he was there, I turned the system off to see if it would come back on. He assured me that there was a delay in my system. Then, he asked me to sign the paperwork and left. However, the system never came back on. So, that night, I put in a ticket for him to come back out. He couldn’t make it that business day on their side so they came out on a Saturday, which was outside of their normal business hour. He showed up, looked at my system again and said that we need a heating kit. He said that it will be a special order and I told him it was okay. Come Monday, I received another phone call from the contractor and they told me that my heating kit was in.

He showed up on Tuesday and tried to change it but he realized that he had the wrong heating kit. So, he asked if he could take my heating kit with him. I agreed and then, the next business day, I got a call from American Home Shield to say that there was water damage on my heating kit. They still have my heating kit and they still haven’t returned it. I called an AHS representative and I was told that she was gonna escalate it. Then yesterday, I spoke with the rep and she asked if they could bring my heating kit right then and there. But it was 2 o’clock in the afternoon and I’m at work. I told her they would have to come after 5:00 but I was told that she has to put on a schedule and let me know. I’ve already taken off three days of work to resolve it with these people and I haven’t heard from them since. It is funny that when the contractor took my heating kit, he never mentioned anything about water damage. After they all went home, I inspected my closet where my furnace is and I didn’t see any water damage in the ceiling. I am without heat for over a week and I just want my heating kit back.

I came home and my heat wasn't working. It was like 50 degrees in my house. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone because it's the only way that kind of tell them it's an emergency. The reps were very helpful. I was stressed out and I was a little irritated because sometimes repairs need to be made after hours. I ended up having to pay an extra $75 to the person actually coming to fix it, because Home Shield doesn't cover emergency or after hour charges. But the rep was really nice and explained it to me.

The contractor got out here and they couldn't fix it then but they fixed it enough that I was able to have heat until they can get the parts in and then they fixed it permanently. Now, I have heat, so I'm pretty happy with that. I've recommended American Home Shield. Home warranties help cover the cost for repairs, so there's not so much upfront cost. You have to pay for the home warranty, but at the time when you're really stressed, you just have to make sure you have $75.

I submitted a claim to AHS because when we used the heat, the fan outside would turn off. The contractor that American Home Shield sent reset it, so it came back on and we thought it was fixed. About an hour after the contractor left, it turned off again, so he came back out and determined that there was a part that he needed to replace. Then we noticed that it was happening also with the AC, in the meantime, while we were waiting for the part. When he came out today to do the repair, I told him that the AC was doing the same thing and now, he determined that it's the compressor as well that is turning it off. He didn't recognize the other issue because we were only dealing with the heat at the time as it was cold but the communication with him was good.

AHS only paid $10 a pound for the Freon and we had to pay the additional $50 a pound, so we paid about 440 bucks. The contractor said that he would have to do it again for the compressor and that he wants to do it all at one time. The service hasn't been completed yet but other than that, we're very happy that we have a warranty. Having it is very valuable. For the price, American Home Shield definitely covers a lot of stuff. This is our first time using a warranty and we're definitely going to keep one from now on.

With AHS, most of the contacts are online, but it is quick and complete. I logged in online to submit a claim for a washing machine that needed repair. I sent the machine's make and model and what was wrong and I received a confirmation of an assigned technician through email and phone number.

AHS gave us Gen Tech, a company which they said specialized in our type of washing machine and that we would probably be satisfied with. It took two days longer to schedule an appointment because of that, but it was worth the wait. When I called them to confirm setting up an appointment, they indicated that they were aware of my claim, so I guess they got emails from AHS too. We talked, and they set the time to send technicians over. The techs came in and they figured out the issue quickly. They had to get parts so we had to wait for that. But they had the parts shipped by express so they could get them quickly. The next day, they came back and fixed the machine. They were very good and courteous and they knew exactly what to do.

Hoping this can be fixed simply. Found my Noritz water heater was leaking Jan 30. Made a service request and had a competent technician visit the house the next day. He spent some time on the phone with Noritz Tech Support and determined that a replacement Noritz NR-98 SV was called for. Key was this Noritz unit has the same GPM capacity and uses the existing piping.

Somehow the installer and AHS procurement offices decided to order a Rinnai VN4IN water heater (less capacity) that could not be installed with existing piping. Installer quoted me over $1,000 to re-pipe for the install. The Houston plumbing distributor where the Rinnai is to be sourced also has 3 of the Noritz NR-98 SV. Price difference is less than $100 (to me). Hoping we can get this resolved and change equipment to Noritz - so I don't have to waste $1000 on unneeded re-piping. Will update once this claim is resolved. Hope AHS does the right thing.

I recently researched home warranty companies in order to purchase new coverage for our home. I meticulously researched prices, coverage and consumer reviews and decided that American Home Shield was the best option for the money. I paid the full annual contract price online of $823.88 in December of 2018 and looked forward to coverage beginning in 30 days. It is February 2019 and I just received an unexpected bill for $57.67. It says "Past Due Notice".

I contacted the company and, after explaining that I had paid the quoted contract price in full two months ago, they told me that I had to pay this extra for "taxes". This is NOT the contract price I paid for. It may seem like a small amount but when you invest a large sum like this upfront and are told it is the Annual Price paid in full, it is deceptive to later bill your client for additional fees. These fees could be anything. They can call it taxes but I have never purchased something and been billed for taxes 2 months later. It significantly affects my trust in this company from the very start of our relationship. It also affects a person's ability to make an informed decision regarding the price you are paying for these warranties company to company.

I just suggest you beware of additional fees and costs they will bill you when considering using this company. Additionally, they refused to make it right when I asked them to either waive the fee or reduce my contract price so that I did not have to pay this extra fee. They declined to work with me. I also want to make clear that we have not filed a service request. I'm glad we have not needed to use it yet because the recent Past Due Notice indicates that since we are "past due" we could experience a "lapse in coverage". I paid the "fee" today and will be very interested to see how this company handles a service request if we should have an issue.

They stated they had to give the plumber 24 hours to respond. After a week of silence I called AHS back and they informed me A-American was the only plumber in Charleston they have under contract and they would find a Independent to come out and offer a second opinion.

2 weeks passed and no contact from AHS. I called again and was informed that my case had been reviewed and closed based on the information submitted originally by A-American. Bottom line is they have only A-American Plumbing under contract and have no other options. I have used AHS in the past and was pleased with their service. They have done a 180 to the south.

American Home Shield’s website was good and easy enough. It didn’t take much time so, I liked that. I got a contractor over within a day or two and I’m very satisfied. The contractor came to fix four different problems at first. It was two toilets that were moving, one faucet that was leaking and then the shower bowl. On the first call, they were able to take care of all the toilets and they attempted to fix the faucet. They also installed a new bowl but it wasn't working properly. So, they came in a second time, attempted to fix the leak again and it didn't work. They realized that the faucet had a defective valve so they had to come back and exchanged the valve. They came back a third time and were able to fix the valves but I still have the leak on the sink faucet.

AHS should be more proactive about replacing old stuff. They tried way too many times to fix things. Also, when they send people over and over to fix the same thing, they have to realize that we are working people. So, I'm asking for time off from work every single time somebody has to come and fix something. I know how much it cost to send a technician out and if they would replace things instead, it would be more cost-effective for them and for the customer. Nevertheless, having a warranty is very valuable. I have had it for almost eight years and it's worth it. People should go for it.
