I have a mixed experience with American Home Shield so far. Recently, I had a garage door issue where it wouldn't open properly. The technician came and replaced some parts on the same day. While he was punctual and professional, the garage door isn’t working as it should yet, requiring me to hold the button continuously to open or close it.
This was my first claim, and while they did attempt the repair, my issue remains unresolved. Another concern was the need to pay for the garage door out of pocket as it wasn't covered, which I wasn’t informed about prior. I suggested getting a detailed booklet to know what's covered.
The customer service representatives were helpful when I submitted my claim over the phone. Even though the service fee is higher than my previous insurance, I don't mind if it means receiving better service, but I would currently rate it as a 4. Although I'm going through a lot due to personal circumstances, I was recommended to American Home Shield by a close friend who had a positive experience, and I’ve heard good things from others too. I'm hopeful I'll also be satisfied eventually.
Hi Marilyn, We’re thrilled to hear that you were satisfied with our services. Your feedback is appreciated, and we look forward to helping you again.

I recently had an issue with my whole house fan that would cut off after just a minute of operation. I contacted American Home Shield, and they arranged for Rendon Electric Inc. to come out and assess the situation. The technician determined that the switch needed to be replaced. The service was handled efficiently— they scheduled a follow-up visit promptly and completed the repair during that visit. I believe I spoke with a live representative when submitting my claim. The interaction with the representative was great; they informed me that a technician would be coming out, which they did promptly.
I have been a customer of American Home Shield for about seven years since I bought my current house, and I've also used their services in the past. What I appreciate most about American Home Shield is the good communication and prompt service. They efficiently assign a technician for the repairs, and I always receive a call from the provider to discuss what I can expect.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield through a claim I filed for my oven, which had issues with the buttons not working after a self-cleaning process. With the holidays approaching, it was a concern, and I reported this issue via their website, which was easy to navigate. They arranged a visit from Atari Service Appliance Inc, and their service was excellent. The technician identified the problem, ordered a necessary part, and scheduled a follow-up appointment to resolve the issue. In total, the process took a couple of weeks from start to finish. I also want to mention my separate experience with another claim for my water heater, which was not as smooth. The technician seemed unprepared and didn't have the necessary equipment, which was frustrating. Despite this, I consistently recommend American Home Shield to friends and clients as I'm a realtor and believe it's a valuable service for basic home repairs.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the professional service we provide!

I had generally okay experiences with United Air Tip through my American Home Shield contract. The only issue was when the technician accidentally stepped on the ceiling, which they did repair. I requested assistance online, which i found very easy, and the response time was about 48 hours. While I recommend American Home Shield, I wish they had more contractor options. I've been paying for the contract for about two years but used it for the first time recently, so my experience is limited. Based on what I’ve encountered, I’d rate my overall experience as a 4 out of 5.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I used American Home Shield for some plumbing issues and had quite a mixed experience. They sent out Brick Street Plumbing for two separate problems, and I was quite satisfied with their service. The plumbers were professional, knowledgeable, and quick to address the issues. They even took the time to explain how I could prevent future problems, which was helpful. I was happy with that vendor.
I submitted my claim online through the American Home Shield website, which was very easy to navigate. The contractor they sent this time was the best plumber we've had through American Home Shield.
We previously worked with another plumber for a clogged kitchen sink and it was an awful experience. That plumber didn't fix anything and even claimed we needed extensive work done, including taking out all our cabinets and replacing the piping all the way to the street, which seemed unrealistic. We ended up hiring an independent plumber who resolved the issue by simply fixing the clog under the sink. This experience felt like a poor use of our money for American Home Shield, and while I submitted feedback on this through the portal, I never heard anything.
In terms of customer service, I’d rate American Home Shield a 5, as everything was efficiently handled online and through follow-up calls. The coverage, however, I’d rate a 4 because they've removed some previously included services in the package. I'd also caution others to expect fees to increase over time if they get a certain level of service. It seems to be that they go up every year. I started out paying about $50 less.
Dear Celia,
Wow! Thank you so much for the feedback. We appreciate your business.

Kim

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield that left me quite dissatisfied. Initially, I encountered an issue where I wasn't getting any hot water. I found the app very user-friendly and submitted my claim through it. I soon received a text message informing me that a contractor from Waterway Plumbing, LLC would be contacting me. The contractors were very professional upon arrival and immediately got to work on the issue by checking the water heater and its codes. They managed to restart it, but unfortunately, the problem persisted after they left.
Upon contacting them again, they scheduled another appointment and determined that the controller was malfunctioning. Although my water heater was under warranty, the manufacturer Ream did not have the necessary part available. This forced me to purchase the controller out of pocket, costing me over $500. I've been with American Home Shield for three years, and this experience made me feel like I'm paying out of pocket despite having a home warranty.
We apologize for the delay in service. If your concerns are unresolved, please contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com for assistance.

I had a great experience with All Comfort Specialist through American Home Shield. They were professional, and the technician was both clean and courteous, which I really appreciated. We had an MRI scheduled and the technician even came to work early so we wouldn't miss our appointment. I found their service exceptional and was impressed by their dedication.
We've used American Home Shield on and off for years, especially when we're in the Oklahoma area. If a friend or family asked about my experience, I would definitely recommend them. They consistently provide professional service and care about customer satisfaction. The process of setting up a service request over the phone is simple and effective for us.
Pricing with American Home Shield seemed fair to me. They offer options to adjust based on what works best for your family, which is great. Although I haven't used their online portal in a while, I appreciate that their representatives are easy to communicate with, as I've had less positive experiences elsewhere regarding language barriers. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the service from American Home Shield and would rate it highly.

I had an issue with my water heater, where the hot water would run cold after just a few minutes during showers. I contacted American Home Shield to handle the problem. Although it took a couple of attempts to reach customer service, once I did, the process was easy. The contractor from United Air Temp Air Conditioning and Heating was responsive and came to assess the issue, though it wasn't resolved on the first visit. They have scheduled another visit to recheck the system. I've been with American Home Shield for a short time, having switched from another company after poor experiences. Overall, I appreciate American Home Shield's service. I'd rate them a 5 for their customer service and coverage, reflecting a generally satisfying experience.

I had a plumbing issue with my toilet, and A1 Phoenix Plumbing resolved it quickly and efficiently. The technician was very professional, called before arriving to let me know he was on the way, and we had a nice conversation. He was very polite and had a busy schedule, but he was a genuinely nice guy.
While most of my experiences with American Home Shield have been positive, I did have trouble getting a microwave repaired. After four requests and no resolution, we ended up buying a new microwave ourselves. That's been my main complaint, as each service call costs around $100, and the previous technicians failed to fix the issue.
In general, my experience has been good, though. My only suggestion for American Home Shield would be for better communication and scheduling coordination between the dispatchers and technicians. There was an incident where my wife had to wait longer than expected for the technician, which was frustrating.

I had a rather frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding my washer. It took an alarming 10 days for the contractor to show up, with a series of excuses like vehicle breakdowns and forgotten appointments causing the delay. The first technician who came believed the drum was coming apart and said he'd order the necessary part. After over a week without any updates, I contacted American Home Shield again. They then claimed the issue was due to a coin stuck in the drum, which was not covered by their service. Despite disagreeing with this diagnosis, they stated they'd send another company, but I'd have to pay if it indeed was a coin.
After another lengthy wait, the second contractor was delayed even further. By the time they were ready to come out, we had moved. In the end, due to the change of address, American Home Shield refused to cover the service or refund the $100 diagnosis fee, despite the delays being their fault. Previously, using their service was manageable, though not exceptional. However, this incident occurred around the holiday season, dragging the process well beyond Christmas and taking nearly 60 days. Throughout these two months, the lack of resolution and retention of the diagnosis fee were very disappointing. They even attempted to sell additional warranties for my new home after the ordeal.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for over five years. I recently had to submit a claim regarding an issue with the heating on one side of my house. The process was quite straightforward: I called the number provided, described my issue, and they confirmed whether it was covered under my warranty plan. They informed me that if it was, they would refer my case to one of their service companies within 24 hours, which was the usual procedure.
A&R Complete Service Corp was assigned to my issue. They arrived promptly the next day, and the technician was very personable and immediately got to work. The job was completed efficiently, and the heating issue was resolved without any hassle. Overall, I would rate this experience a 5, as everything was handled smoothly and professionally.
However, I believe there can be improvements in prioritizing service requests, especially in adverse weather conditions. For instance, last summer, one of our air conditioning units failed, and it took 3.5 days to get service, which was extremely uncomfortable given that we live in Las Vegas and were without air conditioning in the bedrooms.
Despite this, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been positive, and I have been satisfied enough to continue my coverage with them.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I have been using American Home Shield for about 10 years mainly because both my father, who's 97, and I are unable to perform many repairs around the house ourselves. Recently, I had to make claims for both my dishwasher and oven repairs.
For the dishwasher, which wouldn't start, I submitted a claim online. I found the website to be user-friendly, though it's a bit limited in allowing for personal explanations. After submitting the claim, I was informed about the contractor, who then contacted me before visiting. The communication with the appliance repair specialists was effective. The technician identified the issue as a faulty control and needed to see if parts were available due to the dishwasher's age.
Regarding the oven, a different technician came by and addressed an issue with the control panel and the oven door not closing properly. He mentioned that some parts needed replacing, such as the door hinges, to prevent heat escape.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been favorable, particularly in recent years. The contractors have been timely and professional, fulfilling the service as promised. Although I am on a fixed income and have noticed an increase in their prices over the years, it's still more economical than hiring repair services independently. The only downside is the website's limitations in account management, which makes it difficult to update or change account details.
I've rated their service as follows:- Customer Service: 4.5 out of 5
- Price: 3 out of 5, mainly due to the price increases
- Website: 3 out of 5, due to limitations in account management
- Coverage: 4.5 out of 5, as it has improved over the years.
In summary, I’m quite satisfied with their service, and it has been a great help given our circumstances.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I've been with American Home Shield for about 10 or 12 years, and overall, my experience has been great. Recently, I faced an issue with a leak in my basement, initially thought to be a foundation problem, but it turned out to be a pipe connected to my toilet. American Home Shield initially sent Professional Plumbing INC, but they couldn't determine the problem. They then sent a more seasoned plumber who identified the issue and is scheduled to fix it soon. The second plumber had 28 years of experience and needed to tear out some drywall to locate the leak properly.
What I appreciate most about American Home Shield is their willingness to send experienced professionals who can resolve issues efficiently. However, a minor improvement would be quicker response times for contractor visits, especially in urgent cases. At times, it takes a few days for contractors to get in touch after the initial request, and then they might be a week out due to their schedules. This could be challenging when dealing with urgent situations like the one I experienced.
If I were to rate them, I'd give American Home Shield a six out of five, highlighting my satisfaction despite some delays. I have never received any incentive to provide a positive or negative review about them.
Dear Richard,
We are so happy that you enjoyed your experience with us! We appreciate the great review and look forward to working with you again soon.

I had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. A plumbing issue was deemed preexisting, which I disagreed with since I had inspected the area a week prior and found no problems. The contractor reported it as preexisting, and American Home Shield would not approve a fix, so I ended up canceling and addressing it myself.
I had been a customer for years prior but canceled around eight years ago. I rejoined about four years ago, initially having good experiences, but encountered some frustrations with delays in service. For instance, fixing my water heater took two weeks due to the approval process, even though I had already informed them of the specific issue. The contractor had to assess the problem on-site before ordering parts, leading to inefficient use of time and inconvenience as I had to constantly restart the water heater.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield, and overall, I was pleased. I initiated a service request online for a garage door issue, where the spring had broken. The online process was straightforward, and after submitting my request on a Friday afternoon, I received a text confirming a service technician would contact me within 48 hours. True to their word, I was contacted on Monday, and a technician arrived on Tuesday, which was great since I couldn't get out of my garage.
I would rate this particular experience with American Home Shield a 5, as the responsiveness and service were excellent. The pricing has increased over the past two years, which I understand due to inflation, although it's not entirely satisfying to see my rate go up. Despite this, the online service deserves a 5 because of its efficiency and the seamless process I experienced. I would recommend this service to others, as I discussed with my mom, highlighting the convenience compared to her experience of calling in for a similar service.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a new washer installation. The company that delivered the washer didn't install it and left before I could explain the location of the cut-off. Believing the cut-off was under the house, they left the unit, and I had to call a friend to install it for me. Despite this hiccup, the washer works perfectly now.
Over the years, most technicians from American Home Shield have been satisfactory. However, I've encountered a few who attempted to sell me additional products before fixing the issues. A significant concern is the rising service cost, which started at $45 and has now escalated to nearly $240. Despite this, I intend to continue using their services due to a long-standing relationship. I've been with them for 26 years since I've owned my home. While I've yet to test them on a major emergency, like a complete heating and air unit failure, I trust in their responsiveness based on past interactions.
Although the increasing service fees are concerning, I've already approached them about this, and they offered a lower-tier service plan. Nonetheless, I prefer to maintain the best coverage available. If they could revert the price to under $200, it would be more manageable for me. Despite these concerns, I currently rate their service very positively. I appreciate their consistent support and hope to see improvements in their pricing structure.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over a year, relying on them for my fourplex because I’m a widow and can’t walk. I believed their service would cover expensive repairs. Unfortunately, my first claim for a broken pipe hasn’t been resolved. Despite their policy claiming up to $15,000 coverage annually, they only sent plumbers without completing the repair. I even had someone ready to rent a unit, but due to a lack of heating and unresolved issues, I lost potential rental income. Although promised action, I'm still unsatisfied, contemplating reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and other agencies for unaddressed service. If I were to rate them, I’d give a 3 because they did send someone out, but ultimately, there’s been no resolution.

I had an experience with American Home Shield when my washing machine decided to act up. Submitting the claim was quite straightforward as I preferred calling them. They sent out Desert Pro, a very courteous contractor. Although it took a couple of days because we waited on a part, everything was resolved efficiently, and I haven't had any issues since.
However, I must express my dissatisfaction with the pricing structure. Initially, I had a package that included TV coverage, which I found unnecessary. Despite my attempts to adjust this, the deductible remained higher than I wanted, which is frustrating. It feels more cost-effective to purchase a new TV than to continue with a package that doesn’t suit my needs.
While their service has been satisfactory, the pricing aspect has left me considering canceling and re-signing to possibly get a better deal. Due to this, my rating for American Home Shield's service is a 5, but I rate their pricing a 1.

I contacted American Home Shield because I had a blockage in my sewer line. The vendor they sent out barely looked at the issue and refused to fix it, stating they couldn't remove the toilet to access the line. They claimed this wasn't covered under my warranty, but never told me this upfront. They charged me $100 just for sending someone out, who ended up doing nothing.
When I called American Home Shield to discuss this, I was met with a scripted response. They labeled it a maintenance issue, which was not what I was told. Fortunately, another insurance I had with my water company covered the blockage, and they sent someone who resolved the issue.
This has not been my only negative experience with American Home Shield. When I had issues with my heating unit, several service calls were needed before I found a vendor familiar with my equipment. They seem to consistently send vendors who are only equipped to handle basic issues, leaving me to pay extra while my problems remain unresolved.
I would not recommend American Home Shield, and I have since canceled my policy. The process to cancel was also frustrating as they urged me to reconsider despite not fixing the problems. Regular charges and a $100 call-out fee are not worth it when the solutions provided are inadequate. Instead, I'd advise saving the money you would spend on their coverage and using it to directly hire professionals to address any issues efficiently.

My experience with American Home Shield was quite challenging. I had an issue with my HVAC system when a technician from Gibson Air Conditioning and Heating came for repairs. Unfortunately, shortly after he left, the temperature in my house began to rise rapidly. It reached a worrying level of 87 degrees even though the system was off.
I was bedridden due to an accident and struggled with the excessive heat. Despite contacting the agency, I was initially told to detach the thermostat myself, which was not feasible in my condition. The temperature kept climbing and even triggered the carbon monoxide and fire alarms due to the lack of proper ventilation.
After a heated exchange with the company's representative, where I emphasized the urgency by mentioning the potential need to call 911, the claim was closed without resolution. Under this stress, my health deteriorated further, leading my son to consider taking me to the hospital.
Eventually, after reaching out to American Home Shield directly, they responded promptly and resolved the issue. The technician came back promptly within minutes of my call and discovered a minor but critical mistake. A small piece of bread tie had accidentally been left creating an electrical contact.
While I appreciated American Home Shield's swift action in the end, the situation was distressing, and their initial response was inadequate. The technician was diligent and competent, but the company's support system, at first, fell short. I'd recommend caution and suggest ensuring a more direct line of communication with the technicians for anyone in similar situations.

I usually set up service requests online, and within a few hours, the vendor contacts me to arrange an appointment. The service response time has been consistently prompt.
However, the cost of American Home Shield's services has been increasing, which concerns me since I don't use it very often. I almost canceled my service because the monthly fee was approaching $100. They offered to negotiate the price down when I expressed my intent to cancel, which I appreciated, but I believe the cost isn't commensurate with the services I’ve actually used.
Regarding customer service, I’d rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5, as they are generally responsive and helpful. However, due to the pricing issues, I'd rate that aspect a 2 out of 5. I find their online portal easy to use, so I’d give it a 5 out of 5 for usability. Overall, my satisfaction with American Home Shield is mixed due to the high costs, despite their good customer service and effective online platform.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield since 1996, and my recent experience with them has been quite frustrating. I had a plumbing issue and they sent Infinite Plumbing and Construction to handle it. My hot water heater was malfunctioning, but American Home Shield claimed the problem was due to leaking pipes, which wasn't accurate. An independent plumber confirmed my suspicion that the issue was with the heater itself and not the pipes.
American Home Shield tends to use companies that point fingers at the customers to avoid covering costs. I inherited a hefty bill of over $2,000 although my sister saw the same water heater at a much lower price in Home Depot. Eventually, I paid $1,200 for what was purportedly necessary repairs and replacements. American Home Shield didn't reimburse me for any of these additional costs.
They keep sending out shoddy service providers who fabricate problems to squeeze more money from customers, while the main issue—a 30-year-old water heater they originally installed—remains unsolved. The only charge I should have faced was the usual $100 service fee, not an extra $1,200.
Overall, I am very dissatisfied with American Home Shield and cannot recommend their service.
I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. AHS apologizes for not meeting your expectations. If your concerns regarding your claim is unresolved, please send your contact information to consumeraffairs@ahs.com and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite satisfactory overall. Submitting service requests online is very easy, making the process convenient. For instance, when one of our heaters stopped working, I requested service, and the company sent technicians from ES Heat and Air. They arrived promptly between 10 and 2 as promised, and efficiently fixed the issue on the same day.
While most of my experiences have been positive, there have been a few bumps along the way, particularly with communication and service write-ups. There was an instance with an air conditioner where we had to wait because the issue didn't meet a specific threshold, but eventually, we managed to get a technician out sooner due to a cancellation.
Sometimes the communication barrier with customer service can be a challenge, especially when trying to convey specific issues, and there have been times when I've had to wait on hold for quite a while. However, the problems eventually get resolved. For example, we had a prolonged issue with a washing machine that required multiple visits and resulted in a month-long wait, but the resolution process was eventually smooth.
Despite these challenges, American Home Shield offers easy options for repair or replacement, and we received a Lowe's gift card promptly, which helped us deal with the washing machine problem. I appreciate the small-world experience of meeting someone whose spouse works at Home Shield, as it provided another resource for resolving potential issues.
In summary, while it's sometimes a waiting game with American Home Shield, the issues do get resolved, often in a satisfactory manner. I would rate their services a 4 out of 5, given the overall outcome is positive, though there is room for improvement in communication and response times.

My experience with American Home Shield over the past 15 years has generally been positive, although my recent interaction involved a significant delay. I had an issue with one of my appliances and reported it on the 1st of January. Understanding the holiday season, I expected some delay. However, it took until the 7th for a technician from Tri-County Appliance to visit. Unfortunately, the delay stretched to nearly a month due to miscommunications and the technician having the flu.
This frustration was only compounded by the knowledge that in today’s market, where most parts can be swiftly sourced from places like Amazon, it shouldn't have taken three weeks to source a part. There was a lack of communication, as I was informed only after my inquiries that their staff had been sick the previous week. On the positive side, the technician who finally completed the service was professional and courteous.
I hold no grudge against American Home Shield, my concerns were primarily with the service provider. Despite this hiccup, I believe American Home Shield is a worthwhile backup for emergency situations, and I'd give them a rating of 4 stars.

We've been dealing with a problematic dishwasher that has caused significant inconvenience, including flooding our house twice, which now requires us to replace all our floors. The only positive aspect of this ordeal has been Oleg, the technician who is always punctual and professional. However, despite his efforts and multiple visits, the dishwasher remains unfixed. The dishwasher breaks down repeatedly, often after just one partial cycle, making it unusable for our family of five.
We've had technicians visit at least a dozen times, which has resulted in lost workdays and the inconvenience of rearranging our schedules. Despite this, American Home Shield seems hesitant to replace the dishwasher, opting instead to continually send out technicians. One technician was notably late, even attempting to visit at 6:38 PM after missing the scheduled window, which was incredibly unprofessional. Ultimately, while the technicians, especially Oleg, have been polite and punctual, the overall service from American Home Shield has been disappointing.

Initially, it wasn't working at all, but before the contractor from Red's HVAC division LLC arrived five days later, it started working again. While the process to schedule a contractor was easy, the delay in their arrival was concerning. If my furnace had failed during extremely cold weather, I might have faced a significant issue with potentially frozen water pipes.
Although the contractor was professional, they arrived when the furnace was operational, making it difficult to determine the exact problem at that time. I was charged $125 for the visit, and they suggested my furnace needed servicing without any immediate repairs being conducted. I'm unsure about what American Home Shield has approved for repairs, as I haven't checked their email follow-up yet.
I first got American Home Shield services when considering selling my house, thinking it might be beneficial for potential buyers. So far, I find the communication could be improved, as there was a mix-up and delay in the contractor appointment. Despite some uncertainty about my furnace's condition and American Home Shield's approval status, I'm indifferent at this stage but aware it could have been a more severe issue.

I submitted a work order for my Bosch dishwasher due to an E15 error code. American Home Shield sent Arizona Value Appliance and Repair INC to handle the issue, but the experience was frustrating from the start. It took two weeks for the technician to come out, only for them to simply open the door, turn on the dishwasher, and then leave. The error persisted.
I had to reopen the work order, and it took another week for them to come back. This time, the technician diagnosed a dead motor, replaced it, but the error still showed up. It was infuriating having to go through the process again, only for the problem to remain unresolved.
I requested a different technician after multiple failed attempts to fix the leak properly. Communication was poor, and the process dragged out for nearly two months. I have arthritis in my back, as does my mother, so being without a dishwasher for that long was painful and inconvenient for us.
The representatives I spoke to at American Home Shield were generally helpful and compassionate, which I appreciated. However, being unable to choose my own appliance service contractor was a significant downside. Those I dealt with seemed inexperienced and were difficult to reach, causing unnecessary delays. Ultimately, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and effort to continue with their service.
I would advise anyone with a new home to consider American Home Shield for the initial years due to their strong customer service and coverage. However, be wary of their high costs and the companies they contract with. Despite their expensive pricing, their customer service and coverage quality is decent, but dealing with their contracted repair services was far from satisfactory. Overall, I would rate the entire experience with American Home Shield a 3 out of 5.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield involving a claim for a leaking part in my air conditioning unit. Initially, another company assessed the problem incorrectly, but A&M Air Conditioning LLC identified the issue as a leak in the condenser unit outside. The team from A&M was very communicative, walking me through each step of their process, which I appreciated.
The submission of the claim was straightforward. I called American Home Shield and spoke with a representative, which was favorable since it wasn't an automated system. While I can't recall the specifics of the representative's professionalism, I generally found it satisfactory. Before the contractor's visit, I received their name and contact number, and they reached out to me directly.
If I were to rate this experience, I'd give it a 4 out of 5. The initial misdiagnosis and the proposed costs for freon were concerning, as they nearly matched the repair cost. I believe that when a service promises to fix something, it should cover everything necessary for the repair.
In advising friends and family, I'd say American Home Shield is worth it, but it's important to stand firm and question aspects that don't align with expectations. Overall, I'd rate their customer service, pricing for fees (factoring in that it came with my house), and coverage each a 4 out of 5.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I recently had the opportunity to use American Home Shield, and my experience was quite positive. When I had an issue with a circuit breaker that kept tripping, I reported it online—a process that was quite easy. Ace10 Home Services was dispatched to handle the problem.
The electrician who came to my home was courteous and professional. He introduced himself, we discussed the problem, and he quickly identified and resolved the issue by removing a short within the system. Since then, the circuit has been working wonderfully.
I've been with American Home Shield since I purchased my home in August, thanks to the realtor's recommendation. While I find the deductibles a bit high, I appreciate the efficiency of their service. I've had four service calls, and each time they've addressed my issues effectively.
I tend to manage everything online, so I haven't interacted much with their customer service. I like their website. Even though they don't use local vendors, it doesn't affect the superior service I've received. Overall, I'm pleased with American Home Shield and would definitely recommend their services.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with American Home Shield. Although the technicians from Sears handled the repairs on my dishwasher and washer professionally and efficiently, American Home Shield completely mishandled the appointments and claims process. They constantly rescheduled appointments and even sent multiple companies for the same issue. They are notorious for playing games and denying claims without valid reasons.
For instance, they sent someone who ended up breaking my AC, which is now making noises and isn't functioning properly. Despite numerous calls, they refused to accept responsibility or send someone who could fix it. As a person with a disability and living in Florida, I depend heavily on air conditioning, and this situation has been severely challenging. They keep insisting no one is available, yet I found someone willing, but American Home Shield wouldn’t issue the necessary work order.
When it came to another issue with my refrigerator, they sent a technician who replaced the fan, but the problem persisted. All my food thawed and spoiled, costing me a great deal. This back-and-forth has been ongoing for weeks, reflecting poor customer service and inadequate resolution efforts from American Home Shield. I strongly advise against signing with them due to these unreliable and distressing experiences.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for nearly 20 years and typically, their service has been great, which is why I've stayed with them. However, my recent experience with a microwave repair has been disappointing. The initial technician not only failed to resolve the problem but also improperly reassembled the microwave, leaving it partially disassembled with attitude issues. Later, an electrician identified a potential cause related to a burnt circuit, but the technician from ACA, presumedly an affiliate, did not respond adequately or prioritize our issue despite multiple follow-ups.
American Home Shield tried to assist by reaching out to ACA, but the response and service from ACA were frustratingly inadequate. As homeowners trying to sell our house, this unresolved issue is stressful, affecting both safety and property value appearance. I recommend that American Home Shield swiftly transition to a different service provider if one company fails to perform, to prevent extended inconvenience and expenses for the customer. While resolving this issue, we've been forced to eat out daily, further adding to frustration. I hope they improve by promptly replacing inefficient service providers and perhaps assist with replacement costs when necessary.

I had a challenging experience with Express Appliance through my American Home Shield warranty. Initially, my refrigerator stopped working, and the scheduler I dealt with was quite rude and unhelpful, which was frustrating given my disability and the urgency of the situation. It took nearly four weeks to get a service appointment, leaving us without a refrigerator since Christmas.
The first technician who visited only spent about 15 minutes, identified an issue with the ice maker, ordered a replacement, and left without thoroughly checking the refrigerator. When the parts arrived, it took another week for the technician to return. The second technician was more thorough, spending more time diagnosing the problem and concluding that the compressor and control board needed replacement. Despite this, it took over a month without a functioning refrigerator due to delays in receiving parts and scheduling follow-ups.
Ultimately, I found out that American Home Shield capped the repair costs at $2,000, and the costs of the multiple technician visits were deducted from this total. This policy left me with a lower reimbursement amount when the refrigerator couldn’t be fixed and needed replacement. While my experience with American Home Shield's phone customer service was positive, the overall process, due to policy limitations and delays, was exhausting.
In conclusion, I would cautiously recommend American Home Shield due to the initial attempts to help, but advise potential customers to be aware of the repair cost limits and the extended timelines this might lead to.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield. Initially, I had a leak under my bathroom sink. When I contacted them, they claimed it was due to a frozen pipe and that it wouldn't be covered. I ended up hiring an emergency service which cost me a significant amount of money, only to find out it was a simple fix—a loose hot water line that just needed to be screwed in.
When I tried reaching out to American Home Shield again, they said they covered everything under the sink. However, the first technician they dispatched couldn't shut off my water and claimed the job was done. They had to send another person who found that the previous technician did nothing because I had already fixed the issue myself. I was still charged $125 for this non-service.
Currently, one side of my sink still leaks but American Home Shield refuses to cover it, saying it's not their responsibility. My dealings with them have been frustrating. I've contacted them multiple times since moving into my new home in July, mostly to be told that my issues aren't covered, even when the paperwork states otherwise.
For instance, they refused to cover my hot water heater, claiming it wasn’t the right one for the house, despite it being installed when the house was built. Additionally, their promise of servicing the furnace and air conditioner once a year was met with excuses about having to wait until March, which made no sense during the winter months.
Overall, I'd rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 1, and I wouldn't recommend them to others.

I've been using American Home Shield since 2002, and I'm consistently impressed by their service. Recently, I had an issue with my cooktop, where three of the burners stopped working. I submitted my claim online, which was a very user-friendly experience. A representative from Repair Tech Plus came to assess the problem and was very polite, covering his shoes and displaying professionalism. Unfortunately, we discovered that my cooktop model is no longer in production, so replacement parts weren't available.
American Home Shield emailed me options: they offered a comparable cooktop and other models, including both gas and electric options. They also provided alternatives like a gift card from Lowe's or a check. I chose the comparable cooktop, which was delivered promptly. Another company installed it, and it's been performing wonderfully, just like my previous one.
Overall, I'm more than satisfied with the responsiveness and efficiency of American Home Shield. Their ability to deploy competent contractors is noteworthy. I genuinely recommend them because they honor their contracts, saving me both hassle and money.

My experience with American Home Shield was not as smooth as I had hoped. I filed a claim for my garage door because the bolt kept falling out, and while the process was easy due to their automated system, I would have preferred speaking with a live person. I was frustrated when they didn't use the $100 service fee that I had already paid to cover the repair costs.
When the technician came out, he explained that it was more of a maintenance issue, which isn't covered by American Home Shield. He recalibrated the door and lubricated parts but didn't really address the bolt problem, which had caused the cable to stretch. I ended up paying $269 for this service, in addition to the $100 already spent, which seemed excessive. The repair has been effective so far, but the cost was a significant concern.
I've had past issues with American Home Shield where they wouldn't allow me to replace parts I purchased on my own. I rate my experience a 2 because of these frustrations. Their customer service is not ideal due to the reliance on automation and the service wasn't fully utilized for my benefit. But the cost seems comparable to similar services and the website is functional and easy to use.
In general, I'd recommend friends or family to compare different companies and read reviews before committing. I've heard positive stories about similar services handling larger repairs, like an air conditioner replacement, but have yet to experience that level of service myself.
I hate to hear your experience has caused some frustration. We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield when Runyon Appliance LLC came out to fix my dishwasher. The dishwasher was initially making a loud grinding noise, which they diagnosed as a faulty motor. They replaced the part, but soon after, it started making a high-pitched squealing noise. After contacting American Home Shield, I was told Runyon would get back to me, but no one did. Despite receiving text messages saying I would be contacted, I haven't heard anything yet. It's been really difficult trying to speak with someone directly; the phone system doesn't provide an option for a live representative, and I ended up getting hung up on multiple times. The lack of effective communication is my biggest issue.
On the positive side, when we first got the service about 4.5 years ago, recommended by a previous company that went out of business, we had good experiences, especially with AC repairs. I had an inspection done on my home and found that the oven wouldn’t turn on, although the stove burners were functioning. I contacted American Home Shield and a technician was sent over. The issue was mainly due to the oven not being used for a while as I usually use a toaster oven and microwave. The technician was able to get the burner working and ensured everything was safe and leak-free. He was very polite and thorough, and my realtor was also impressed, taking his business card. However, I didn’t receive a receipt, which I might need for the buyer of my home.
I've been with American Home Shield since around 2016, initially impressed by the service my parents received. I opted for a package that allowed me to cover items like the washer, cook stove, and refrigerator, which was affordable and practical for my needs. Although I haven't used the service much, the occasions I did required assistance were satisfactory.
There was one negative experience related to an air conditioning issue at my mother’s house. The technician was rude and unhelpful, and their service led to an additional expense, as they failed to cover repairs citing issues with the system which needed an overhaul. Eventually, replacing the system led to savings in energy bills, validating my decision to not use that company again. American Home Shield has been wonderful to me and I've been so impressed. I signed up in December and was able to start using the warranty the 1st of the year. When I called them up, trying to make an appointment for three things that I needed, the people were very understanding and patient. They explained things, gave very easy explanations, and things went very smoothly.
I had a claim for the HVAC that was not putting out heat. I had it maintenanced by another company and they froze it up. There was two inches of ice outside, there was enough puddle of an ice where everybody called it an ice skating rink, and it was only blowing out part of it. I had two other heaters sitting in the living room. So, I called AHS and they said they were going to send so and so out on such and such a day, and they were going to be from Cool Heat Heating and Cooling Company. They're over on the far side of Eugene which is about 20 miles from me.
The guy who showed up was named Wade and he asked me what was wrong with it. I told it was not heating like it was supposed to. He then proceeded to tell me to quit arguing with him. But I told him that I was not arguing with him. So he got two feet in front of the machine, turned it on high, backed up to four feet, and said that it was working fine. He also looked at the filters and he left. He was here for 15 minutes and I was a little upset. He didn't really do anything. I called American Home Shield again, so their rep made another appointment. I asked if it was going to cost me and she said no because Wade didn't fix the problem. She then said that Cool Heat would send Wade and Ben, because I asked for a different technician.
Five days later, Wade shows up. Nobody else. The fist sentence out of his mouth was, “What seems to be the problem this time?” I told him that it was the same as before and he said, "I told you it was working just fine.” But I told him that it wasn't. And again, he went with his I'm-gonna-argue-with-you spiel. He then said that he was going outside to make a phone call. He was out in his van longer than he was in my house and this time, he didn't do anything. He comes back to the door and he said he was waiting on the warranty company to call him. Moments later, I got a ping from American Home Shield saying that I have an appointment set for February 6th. So I wrote out my review on this guy. He was very curt to me and he didn't want to explain anything or communicate.
I waited a three days, then I called up American Home Shield and I told them that since my HVAC is not working, I went to somebody else's house for a few days. And I told them that I would like to know what this appointment is for. The guy then went out of his way to find out and tell me. He said that the diagnosis was that the motor wheel was dirty and was not blowing out air out of half of the unit. He then called Cool Heat. I was so impressed with this guy. He came back and said that there was going to be two guys in my house on the 6th and they were supposed to do some sort of cleaning. But he said they were not paying for it because they don't claim those items. The first meeting, the guy told me that the motor wheel would cost $200 to $500 out of my pocket to clean. It's an internal wheel.
At this point, the rep told me to hold on again and he called Cool Heat back. When he came back, he said I was going to have someone come out on the 6th to look at it thoroughly and there would be no cost to me. Cool Heat was going to take care of it. So right there, American Home Shield is a 12 out of 10 in my book. Also, their rep did not want me to hang up at all. But he still didn't know exactly what they were going to do or who was going to come over here. On February 6th, there was a knock on my door and a guy younger than Wade came up. Apparently, he had been sitting out in his pickup because he was 20 minutes early, and he said he'd go in and see if he could do something. He said that his name was Sebastian and that he was waiting on Wade. I told him that Wade didn't like me, wouldn't tell me anything, and that he liked to argue. Sebastian said that that was what he does. I then asked him what they were going to do that day and he said they were going to tear my machine apart. And he started taking it off the wall.
There underneath the unit that needed to be moved and when Wade showed up, he didn't say a word to me other than, “All this stuff was supposed to be moved”. I told him that he didn't communicate to me what he wanted me to do and he pretty much quit talking to me after that. So, they tore off my unit, took everything out, wrapped it up, cleaned it internally, lubed this, looked at that, did this, did that, went outside, added some Freon, and checked the connections. They were here for over two hours and they did not fool around. When I went outside, I told them that there was still water and ice. Wade told me that those were supposed to be there. What he didn't know was I was taking pictures the whole time of what they were doing and how they were doing it.
Compared to Wade, Sebastian was communicable and personable. But every time he tried to tell me something, Wade would shut him up. Then they decided to go outside. Wade was also very upset because I have a decorative cover around my outside unit and he didn't like that. In the end, it wound up taking three weeks to solve the problem. I left for a whole week and went to somebody else's house because it was ridiculous that I had to have two other heaters sitting here in the living room to keep me and my animals warm.
On their second trip, Ben was supposed to show up, but it wound up being Wade and Ben. I questioned it and never got an answer. On the third trip, Wade's phone rang and he said to tell Ben to meet him at his house. He said that he didn't need to go to that place, so Wade told Ben not to show up here. Also, I don't like people coming in and being curt with me and telling me I don't know what I'm talking about and what I'm saying is wrong. But I liked that American Home shield stepped in and explained what they could and could not do for me, and that they could communicate for me.
Recently, I had a claim for my dishwasher and I was so impressed with the tech that AHS assigned. He was professional and communicative. Other than that, I was told that AHS covers microwaves only if they're built in. They also cover a hot water on demand unit, but they're not all lumped under appliance. I was also going to have them look at my fridge and dishwasher, and they told me that they're not under the same thing. But the stove and dishwasher are under one heading of appliance. The refrigerator is under another one because of the refrigerant. So, if I would have had the dishwasher and stove looked at, it would have been one service fee. But to add the refrigerator to it means another service fee because of the breakdown of the different departments.
Then, the HVAC is by itself because it's a heating and cooling unit. But exhaust fans, they would cover the one in the kitchen and the one in the bathroom. The lady was so kind and patient in explaining these things to me. But the service fee is not extraordinary and it threw me a little bit. But for the short experience I had, I would give AHS 12 out of 10.

I had a plumbing issue in our laundry room, and overall, I'm very satisfied with the service I received from American Home Shield. I initiated the claim process online, which was easy. It provided various options to choose from and to describe the issue and if I wanted to give a description, I could.
After submitting the claim, I received an email that the contractor, On Point Plumbing, had 24 hours and they would contact me with the time and date of their visit. I also got an email that stated that someone was on the way. They showed up and I told them what was going on, then they assessed, fixed and reported it.
When the plumbing team visited, they were friendly and highly efficient. I appreciate that they explained how they were going to fix the issue using a snake to unclog the drain. Now, everything's draining. I couldn't be happier with their service, and I love them every time.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield and their contractor, American Home Appliance Incorporated, regarding my malfunctioning washer. The unit had a bidirectional transmission that would rotate one way to wash and another way to spin. It wouldn't rotate in the wash direction, so the transmission was shot. I reached out to American Home Shield online, and they responded within a couple of days. When the contractor came out, they diagnosed the problem and determined the machine was beyond repair.
American Home Shield provided us with options: either select a new appliance through their site or opt for a buyout. We chose to order a new appliance and it was installed within four days. The new washer had many more features than the previous one, which was quite basic and they don't sell anything like that anymore. I'm very pleased with this upgrade.
American Home Shield has been quite responsive. I've always been satisfied with the contractors they send out. However, their online portal could use a few improvements, like having more options that align with what’s covered in the contract, such as furnace repair.
Overall, I’d recommend American Home Shield to a friend as well as rate them highly. My experience was positive, especially with the enhanced appliance we received.

I've had several experiences with American Home Shield over the years and it's been a mix of both good and bad. Recently, they handled an electrical issue in my home. My house was built in 1972, and it has an old breaker system that shorted out. They sent out McDonald Electric Service, and they did an excellent job fixing it, although I wish American Home Shield would consider replacing the entire system, given its age and safety concerns.
Unfortunately, there have been less satisfactory experiences as well. One technician who came to fix my stovetop made inappropriate remarks about race and religion, which made me uncomfortable. More disturbingly, he chipped the edge of my glass stovetop while reinstalling it, which could eventually lead to further damage. I didn't report him to American Home Shield out of fear of potential repercussions.
Additionally, there was an incident with Gates Electrical or Air conditioning company. They sent a technician who broke the steps leading to my air conditioner, and he tried to solicit extra work off the books. His actions left the air conditioner unfixable until I hired a different company to properly repair it. Even after reporting this to American Home Shield, I only received a refund of the service fee, but they did not cover the cost of repairing the steps or the additional work I had to commission. While I've had some very professional technicians from American Home Shield, like those from McDonald Electric, there have also been numerous issues that make me hesitant to give them a positive review.
I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. AHS apologizes for not meeting your expectations. If your concerns regarding your claim is unresolved, please send your contact information to consumeraffairs@ahs.com and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield when dealing with a heating and cooling issue. The technician, Connor from Pleasant Valley Heating and Air, was initially fine during the diagnostic stage. However, issues arose during the installation phase completed by Wesley. Changes in the estimated work had me requesting a corrected itemized list, which led to Connor reacting aggressively over the phone, accusing me of not wanting to pay.
The thermostat that they installed didn't have the necessary functionality, and when I sought a resolution, they insisted that only Connor could return, despite having other employees who could do the job. This situation was disconcerting as I didn't feel comfortable having Connor return due to his prior behavior. Although American Home Shield refunded the initial service fee, it didn't solve the immediate problem, and I had to purchase and arrange for the installation of a new thermostat with community help. This was my first negative encounter with them, as I usually expect an option for a different vendor when faced with such service issues. While they offered the refund, the lack of alternate options or solutions left me dissatisfied.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I've been a customer with American Home Shield since 2011, and while I've generally had a positive experience with their service, my most recent claim was not resolved to my satisfaction. They denied my claim, asserting that the issue was due to my dog urinating on the unit, although I firmly believe this wasn't the problem. Initially, some part up in the attic had failed and American Home Shield sent the first company out. The guy replaced the part in the attic, but he didn't check and make sure the system was working. He had to come back out and do something else. He replaced the thermostat upstairs. The unit started working, and that lasted for about a week, then it started freezing up outside whenever the temperatures got colder.
They came out and said that the unit was leaking Freon because of where my dog urinated. The outer shell of the unit was involved, but my unit was almost 20 years old and it wasn't even leaking. Once they came in, checked the Freon level and said it was low on Freon, the system worked. It was just low on Freon and I felt they used the situation as an excuse to avoid paying to put the Freon in it. American Home Shield eventually sent another company out for a second opinion and they also indicated the need for Freon. However, the claim was still denied. I needed a new system, and I ended up paying out of pocket for it.
This was the first claim denial I've faced. I have two units, an upstairs system and a downstairs system, and in the past, they've come out and worked on my unit. They've replaced some fan on the unit outside. They also replaced a part for the downstairs system, and they did something else with the air handler at some other time as well. Given my recent experience, I'd rate American Home Shield at a 3 out of 5.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I had an electrical issue at my home and American Home Shield promptly arranged for High Note Electric to come out within a few days. The technician was professional and competent. He managed to fix the problem, which was a faulty breaker, in about an hour and a half. He communicated well, arrived on time and called as promised, which was a relief.
However, my past experiences with American Home Shield have not been as satisfactory, particularly with plumbing issues. Previously, it took over two weeks to find a plumber willing to work with them, and when he got here, he resolved an internal faucet leak but couldn't address a more severe issue outside with the graywater tank. I had to make numerous calls and it seemed like finding someone to work with American Home Shield was a challenge, potentially due to low payments or other issues. Despite these past frustrations, the recent positive experience with the electrician has restored some faith in their service. But if this last experience hadn't been good, I might have considered canceling my service.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield for a heating issue at my rental property. The heater was blowing only cold air, so I submitted a claim through their online app, which was a straightforward process. I received details about Royal Air LLC, the assigned contractor, which included their name, phone number, and address, allowing me to verify their credentials online.
The service provided by Royal Air was excellent. Despite some initial communication hiccups, they went directly to the property to address the heating issue promptly, knowing it was urgent due to the cold weather. They most likely communicated with my renter regarding the repairs. A few days after the service, I checked with the renter, and everything was functioning well.
I've relied on American Home Shield for about three years for this property and have used them or Choice Home Warranty for various other rentals over the past eight years. I appreciate the reliability and ease of service with American Home Shield, although there was an occasion a few years back when they or Choice Home Warranty didn't have a provider in Miami, Oklahoma. Consequently, I resolved that issue independently. I've already recommended American Home Shield to friends and continue to do so.

I've had American Home Shield for about a month and unfortunately, my experience has been anything but reassuring. My ordeal started when my sewer line backed up. I promptly put in a request for service, but it took them two days to find someone to send out. They found Showers Plumbing Thursday afternoon, but they couldn't come out until Monday. The person also did not show up, then the appointment was unilaterally changed to Tuesday without notifying me. I checked my account and noticed they changed the appointment. I took time off work for the morning expecting them only to find out later that my appointment had been changed.
When the company finally appeared on Tuesday morning, they inserted a cable in the wrong area and it ran into a foreign object. They got their cable stuck and it broke off, leaving two feet of cable sticking out of my shower drain. To make things worse, my shower was left filled with sewage because they had not brought the proper equipment. They had driven all the way from Iowa, which is the next state over, and they were not going to return for several days. They left, and American Home Shield refused to cover it and charged me a service fee even though the company wasn't in our service area, which was why they had to drive from three hours away.
Desperate, I called a local company the next day, and they removed the stuck cable and fixed my sewer line. All this took more than a week without functional plumbing, which was incredibly challenging. I had influenza when it first happened, then my child got influenza too. We could barely flush our toilet and we couldn't do laundry or shower. It was terrible.
Overall, I find the warranty a terrible investment. The lack of timely service, the coverage denial, and the ensuing charges were frustrating. I would rate American Home Shield a one out of five. The customer service couldn't do anything, and they did not cover the issue as promised by the warranty.

I had a very disappointing experience with American Home Shield concerning issues with both my oven and dishwasher. The company they initially sent did not appear qualified—they had to be called out four times for the oven, with no resolution. Eventually, I insisted on a different company who diagnosed and repaired the problem immediately. For the dishwasher, the first company claimed the issue was due to abuse and said it couldn't be fixed, refusing to provide a report despite multiple requests. I requested a second opinion from another company. They came out, laughed and said it was so simple. They fixed it on the spot.
Financially, this was troubling, as I ended up wasting $500 for the multiple visits. American Home Shield charges $100 per call, and I wasn't reimbursed due to the time elapsed. Thankfully, since the repair by the second company, both appliances have worked perfectly. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I am very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

I've had a mixed experience with American Home Shield over the four years I've been with them. Most recently, I had some issues with the service provided by Elite Appliances. The technician from Elite Appliances came over because our washing machine was showing an OE error. Unfortunately, he couldn't identify the problem, and during his attempts, there was even some smoke. He said he'd report back to American Home Shield and mentioned something about a cash-out option, which later turned out to be much less than the actual value of the washing machine. A later technician from Easy Appliances identified a minor issue with a train pump, replaced it, and resolved the problem efficiently.
I appreciate that American Home Shield has been responsive, but I have concerns about the repeated issues with Elite Appliances and would prefer they dispatch technicians from Easy Appliances, who seem to perform better. Despite these challenges, I've continued with them because of their overall support. However, due to my experiences with the Elite Appliances technician, I would only rate them a one out of five.

I used American Home Shield’s services for an issue with my water heater, which was quite old. I had just moved back into a house I had been renting out, and it stopped working. They sent someone to evaluate it and determined it was normal wear and tear, which meant it wasn't fully covered. Despite this, what could have cost me around $1500 for replacement and $200 for installation ended up only being $400 for parts. I found that to be satisfactory.
The contractor they sent was knowledgeable, managing to navigate a challenge due to the change in hot water heater sizes over the years. It was gonna be a tight squeeze getting through the smaller door to the room that the hot water heater’s normally kept in. The professional work and personable service impressed me, and I would definitely use them again if needed – hopefully, I won’t!
Overall, I’d rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5. My initial experiences involved some misunderstanding due to common overselling of their coverage, where people tend to claim it covers everything and drastically reduces the cost and they never have any problems. People have to be realistic and it's important to remember the home warranty helps reduce costs but doesn’t cover all scenarios without certain conditions being met. If someone's AC has a freon leak, the company isn't gonna just gonna come out and fill it for free.
I've heard stories from people, “Oh, there was a windstorm. I lost some shingles. So, they completely replaced my roof.” No. The company will have someone come out and patch it up, but people are gonna have to find somebody to redo their roof. That's almost not fair to penalize them for it. Regardless, it's valuable for what it does offer.
Dear Stephen,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is important to us, it will help us ensure a better experience next time.

We've had a couple of claims with American Home Shield and it started off positively but took a turn with my latest claim. Everything before that has been fine. The contractors they've sent have been wonderful. They've gotten out here quickly and it was an easy process. I have had no issues. It was this last one that's the problem. Our ceiling fan needed to be repaired, so I filed a claim and they sent somebody out. The contractor climbed up on their eight-foot ladder and assessed that the fan needed replacement but noted on the work order that a 10 ft ladder was necessary for the job because they would have to get up to the ceiling. Initially, we were denied because they claimed that American Home Shield wouldn't pay for access.
We have a 10-foot ladder, but the contractor has a 10-foot ladder too and I verified from the company that there's no extra charge for using their ladder. We've been in a battle with that now. The contractor said, "We can't do it. It's not safe. We've got to send out two people," but the insurance won't pay for that. The contractor proposed performing the job outside the insurance coverage, suggesting that the reimbursement from American Home Shield was insufficient. I asked for another contractor to be sent out to check and the home warranty company scheduled one. However, when I called that person to change the appointment, they told me that American Home Shield canceled the work order, then I was called by American Home Shield and they offered to give me $135.
Despite these complications, all prior services by American Home Shield had been flawless. However, this recent problematic and time-consuming claim made me reassess their service level, attributing a lower rating compared to my previous positive experiences with them. I've got a dispute with them right now and we've had to escalate it multiple times.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

I had a positive experience with American Home Shield concerning a claim for my washing machine. When it stopped working, Sears came out and managed the repair. They ordered the necessary part and returned promptly to install it once it arrived. Since then, I haven't encountered any further issues.
The two technicians who came to my home were super nice and very knowledgeable. I always handle my requests through American Home Shield's online service and the turnaround time is impressively quick. Submitting the request is easy to do, and they have someone at my home within a day.
I've been using American Home Shield for a few years and am quite pleased with their service; I have no complaints. If a friend or family member asked, I would tell them the same.
The only downside is that the price increases every year, which I rate as a 3 out of 5. However, their overall service, especially the online platform, deserves a 5. Overall, I would highly recommend them.

I recently had to deal with a non-functioning furnace, which was particularly challenging as my family and I had to endure quite a bit of discomfort during the winter. The initial issue was the thermostat not working. I tried replacing it, but that didn't help. Eventually, I decided to use my home insurance through AHS to get it fixed.
The problem was just a loose wire, but the difficulty was to follow the path to discover where the loose wire was. He spent two hours here, but he also cleaned the sensors. It took one hour to figure out the problem.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield when my heating wasn't working. I used their website to request service, which I found very easy to navigate. I received an email detailing who would come to the property, and I scheduled the appointment by calling directly, as I prefer not waiting.
When the technician from Crispy Air Heating arrived, he was professional and identified that the problem was due to a bad transformer. He ordered the part, and while they were able to schedule it for the next day, I wasn't available, but I appreciated the promptness.
Despite the professional service from the contractor, I was disappointed with American Home Shield because they refused to cover the repair. They claimed it was a pre-existing condition since the issue could be diagnosed by "easily mechanical means," a term they didn't clearly explain even after several escalated calls. It felt as though they were just trying to deny the claim based on their internal policies, especially as it was within the first 30 days of the contract on this property.
Even though I've had American Home Shield for years and generally had no issues with them, this experience was frustrating. They denied the AC repair but refunded the $100 deductible after my escalation. Although their service on a different issue, like my garbage disposal, was handled well and without extra cost, the inconsistency was concerning.
Based on this particular case, I would rate my recent experience with American Home Shield as very low, primarily because of their handling of the AC repair claim despite having positive interactions with them before.

My refrigerator was leaking, and I called American Home Shield for help. By the time the technician from Sears arrived, the leakage had stopped, possibly due to a faulty water filter I had replaced. I had turned off the water supply as a precaution. Once everything was back on, there were no more issues. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been positive over the years. I've been with them for about three to four years, initially learning about the service from my sister.
The technicians they send, including those from Sears, have generally solved my problems effectively. For instance, a previous dryer issue turned out to be caused by birds nesting near the vent, which they quickly identified and fixed. Regarding their service, I would rate it a 5 out of 5 and recommend it to others.
However, I did face a problem about two years ago when I required a plumber. They couldn't provide one promptly, and although I hired someone I knew in compliance with American Home Shield's standards, they wouldn't reimburse me as this plumber wasn't certified under their service. Despite that inconvenience, once resolved, the issue was permanently fixed, and I haven't had plumbing troubles since.
Overall, aside from that isolated incident, I am satisfied with the service, especially with quick resolutions through Sears.

This isn't my first unsatisfactory encounter with them; a previous incident involved my dishwasher, where a claim was denied due to water damage being deemed my fault, so no repairs were made. Notably, these are the only two claims where I've encountered issues, as American Home Shield has generally handled my other requests effectively.

My experience with American Home Shield has its ups and downs. While their customer service is generally great, it was the contractor they hired, National Plumbing, that I had issues with. Initially, we had a problem with the toilets and shower flooding, and National Plumbing's solution was to simply seal the base of the toilets, which didn't resolve the issue. They claimed there was no access for snaking the pipes, which turned out to be incorrect. When we brought in a second plumber, they easily found the access point and fixed the problem. This oversight resulted in us being out of our home for almost three months due to the damage caused. We also had to pay out of pocket to have somebody else come out because the issue that they said was wrong with it was not.
American Home Shield's representatives were always helpful to the best of their ability, but on the downside, their accents sometimes made communication difficult, which might have led to misunderstandings.
Rating my experiences, American Home Shield themselves deserve a 5-star rating for their efforts, although clarity regarding subcontractors like National Plumbing is needed. As for the customer service interaction, due to communication barriers, I would rate it a 4. Despite the pricing concerns, which I evaluate at a 5, I still value their overall effort to rectify the situation with us.

I recently had to use American Home Shield after moving into a new house. The property had been vacant for a while, and the dishwasher had developed mold and wasn't functioning. The repair process was quite unconventional. The first tech came by to assess the situation and took some pictures. Subsequently, a second person delivered the dishwasher, likely contracted from Lowe's, but didn't handle the installation. Finally, a third tech came in to install the dishwasher.
This staggered approach was different from what I'm used to, and while the overall repair took longer than I anticipated, every tech was professional and kind. The customer service itself was excellent. However, it was tedious having to take time off work multiple times to accommodate their schedule. Despite the delay, I'm satisfied with the resolution.

My ice maker wasn't functioning as expected. To address the issue, I called American Home Shield and was able to speak directly with a representative. They then referred my case to Antech Appliance Oklahoma.
The service from Antech Appliance was satisfactory; they came out in a timely manner. However, the entire process, from their initial visit to completing the repair with the necessary parts, took over two weeks. They explained this delay was due to waiting for parts. Despite this, they eventually fixed the issue, and the ice maker is now operating satisfactorily.
Throughout my experience with American Home Shield, I've had both good and bad encounters. While this recent issue was resolved, I previously faced problems with misdiagnosis on an air conditioning claim, which led me to eventually seek help from my own technician after getting a cash-out from them.
Overall, I'd describe American Home Shield's service as satisfactory, but it certainly has room for improvement. My experience was average; customer service, coverage, pricing, and their website all rate around a 3 out of 5 for me.

My recent experience with American Home Shield left me feeling slightly frustrated but ultimately satisfied. Initially, we made a report about our stove not working. When the guy came, he found out that it was an electrical issue. We unplugged the stove, plugged it back and it came on. So I called American Home Shield and told them, "The stove is working." I was informed that if the issue recurred, I wouldn’t have to pay again. A day after, the stove went off again. I called that Monday to let American Home Shield know and the guy that I spoke to asked me to pay again.
I was very upset about that and said, "I'm going to find another insurance. Let me talk to your manager." The guy transferred me to his superior and the lady was very nice. She was able to help me at no extra charge and scheduled the service, then the service person came in and fixed the problem. He was nice, and now, everything is working perfectly.
Additionally, I've noticed some discrepancy in the co-pay amounts. Some of my acquaintances are paying $100, while I am being charged $125. Despite these issues, everything is now working fine, but I'd rate my overall experience a 3 out of 5.

I've been using American Home Shield for around 15 years. Recently, I had a claim with HM Plumbing because our copper pipes sprung a leak. They handled it well, coming out promptly and doing a good job with the repair.
While I've generally had a good experience with the technicians they've sent out and haven't faced issues with any vendors, there have been times when getting issues resolved has been less than smooth. For instance, when we lived in Andover, we had a heating problem that took quite a while to get sorted out since they preferred patching things up rather than replacing parts, which was quite frustrating.
Moreover, American Home Shield can sometimes be uncooperative, particularly in terms of communication and timely resolution of claims, which can feel like they're dragging their feet. Despite this, I'd rate them a 3 out of 5.

The issue was with my toilet, which was double flushing and had a leaking seal, as well as leaks in the pipes under my sink for the garbage disposal. The tech managed to fix everything effectively.
I've been with American Home Shield for about 3 years now and their claim process is pretty smooth. So far, they've been very helpful and saved us a considerable amount of money on repairs. I would definitely recommend them.

Initially, Winston Doors came out but were more interested in charging me $280 to rewind the garage door than actually fixing the problem. I thought the charge was ridiculous, so I didn't proceed with it. The worker sprayed something that temporarily fixed the issue for about 10 days, but no real repair was made. I scheduled another appointment through American Home Shield, but the service provider never showed up twice. Frustrated, I ended up hiring a local person to fix the issue.
I've been using American Home Shield for about 10 years, and this is the first real problem I've had, though it's more with the service vendor than the company itself. Despite the inconvenience, I've generally been satisfied with American Home Shield until this incident. I used American Home Shield for an electrical issue in my house, specifically a loose wire in a light switch. The technician they sent was able to resolve it in just one day, which I appreciated. Historically, my experiences with American Home Shield claims have been generally positive, though there have been minor hiccups like technicians not showing up on occasion. However, they’ve always managed to address the issues eventually.
All the technicians who have come to my home have been polite and respectful, providing notifications before their arrival. However, I believe American Home Shield could improve by being more upfront about changes to warranty packages, especially for long-term customers like myself who have been with them since 2000. Overall, I would rate their service a 4 out of 5 stars.

I had a claim with American Home Shield when the toilet in my house started running. The process of submitting a claim online through their website was really easy. I was informed about the contractor, Texas Plumbing Company LLC, who would be attending to the issue and when via email and maybe even a text—I don't quite remember.
When the contractor arrived, he was very friendly and efficient. He quickly identified the problem and replaced a part that's in the back of the toilet. Apparently, we had a special kind of toilet, but he happened to have the part readily available and fixed the issue without any hassle.
I've had American Home Shield since we bought our house a few years ago, as it was recommended to us, and we've continued to maintain it. Throughout my experience with their service, everything has functioned well after repairs.
I haven't encountered any problems and find the service very efficient—problems get resolved quickly. I'd rate the ease of using the website at 5 out of 5. Although I don’t handle the payments directly, I would guess the price is reasonable, maybe a 4 out of 5. Overall, my experience has been easy and efficient, and I would recommend American Home Shield to friends and family.

I’ve had a long history with American Home Shield, having been with them for 30 years. Recently, Hill's General Plumbing Services came to fix an issue where an air gap next to the faucet was spraying water, and a tube below was doing the same. The plumber and assistant arrived the next day, which was a relief since I’ve typically faced delays of a week or more for service. This timing is crucial because I rent out my downstairs, making it necessary to have quick repairs.
Though Hill's did a fantastic job, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been disappointing. It usually takes too long to get things fixed, like when it took over a month to get a washer repaired — a situation that inconvenienced my busy household significantly. Additionally, while their concept seemed excellent when we first subscribed, there are better choices out there now. Therefore, I’ve been contemplating whether to stick with them or just directly pay for services.
It's been pretty challenging dealing with American Home Shield's inefficiency, and while some repair personnel like those from Hill's were good, others weren’t quite up to standard. The coverage itself is decent for my needs, as I have a straightforward, older home. But, responding promptly to service needs remains a huge concern.
I would recommend friends or family to look for another company with better reviews and faster service. In essence, consider your options and make sure the company you choose can deliver prompt and professional service when you need it.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

I always use American Home Shield and I have been using them for a long time, ever since I bought my homes. As a landlord, having their service is very convenient, especially for big repairs. Recently, I had some leaks, and Cal Home Construction came out to do the repairs. They were very professional and nice. They fixed two leaks, and I'm waiting for them to give me the parts for one faucet and for the next appointment to get it fixed.
In the past, I’d call American Home Shield for service, but now I set everything up online, which is a lot more convenient. If a friend asked about my experience, I'd say American Home Shield is great for convenience and handling major fixes, but it's not inexpensive, so they should consider whether or not it fits their budget. For me, the service is great and really helps me as a landlord.
I would rate my experience with them 4.5 stars. I think they could improve by speeding up repairs for urgent issues like air conditioning breakdowns, especially since these often happen in the summer. It takes a while because it's expensive, but they get it fixed. In terms of customer service quality, I'd give them a 4. Sometimes it seems like they use overseas agents and I gotta explain things to them. While they're nice, communication could be better.

They rebuilt the control panel, and the entire repair process was relatively quick, taking approximately five business days. I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding a repair for my microwave. I contacted them on January 5th for service. They inspected it and informed me that parts needed to be ordered, which would take a week, followed by another two weeks for the repair appointment. They said they would get the parts. The parts were delivered to the house, so I called and told them that. They still made the appointment and I have it all on my phone, but they didn't show up the day they were supposed to. I called them and they said, "Not all the parts are in." I said, "All the parts are at my house. I told you all that."
That went on for about five days straight of them making an appointment, then when I called to make sure that the appointment was on, I was repeatedly told they were still waiting on the parts. I finally had both Sears and American Home Shield representatives on the phone because I was furious. A rep insisted I provide the part numbers to prove I had them, despite my sending pictures. I read her the parts and it still continue on. When I called Sears to see if they were gonna make the appointment, they still kept saying that they were still missing parts.
The microwave finally got fixed around January 28th, almost three weeks later. I talked to American Home Shield and they talked to Sears. I talked to Sears numerous times too. The repair technician did a good job and fixed my microwave, but the customer service, particularly from Sears, was lacking. It seems they could benefit from some training. I'm not satisfied with my experience with American Home Shield and will look for another home warranty company when my contract ends in June.
Despite the service issues, I don't have a problem with the monthly payment or the $125 service fee, recognizing it as part of the process. However, American Home Shield's influence on their subcontractors' responsiveness could have been stronger. I primarily interacted with them over the phone and found the process quite lacking.

I've had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield concerning my dryer repairs. Initially, New Oak Tech came out because the dryer fuse kept blowing, and despite fixing it once, I faced the same issue with cold air again. The technician advised me to clean out lint from the attic, which seemed unusual, and although I complied, it didn't resolve the problem. The dryer stopped working properly again a month after the initial repair, and I was left with more issues.
When the technician returned, he identified a broken tube connected to a motor in the attic, which was hindering the dryer's function. He attempted a temporary fix and mentioned needing a part from Lowe's, but it has been a lengthy process with approval.
I've had multiple unsatisfactory interactions with American Home Shield's customer service. Despite assurance in their policy about second opinions, they've continually sent the same technician. I even found that my work order was closed and the technician got paid, yet my dryer remained unfixed. Their customer service relays generic responses without practical help. When I insisted on escalation, it led back to the same unresolved solution, and even the technician admitted his truck issues, which delayed further repairs.
Rating my experience, I'd give American Home Shield a 1 for overall satisfaction, primarily due to the inefficiency and repetitive visits without resolution. Their customer service, though polite, is unhelpful, earning them a 2; coverage rates higher due to variety but hasn't benefited me due to ongoing dryer issues. The pricing seems steep, especially paying $125 repeatedly for inadequate fixes, so I'd rate it a 3. With the amount of money that I've spent on my dryer, I probably could have bought another dryer.
Despite my grievances with American Home Shield, they haven't addressed my concerns effectively. I reached out to them, threatening to contact the Better Business Bureau because I felt they were unaware of how their contractors were handling repairs.
I understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can talk more about your experience.

This time, National Platinum Services Inc. was dispatched to my home, and I specifically requested a technician who knew what they were doing to avoid repeat visits. Thankfully, the person who came was excellent, immediately understanding the issues and initiating the repair process efficiently.
In general, I appreciate that American Home Shield allows me to address my problems without much hassle. However, there are a couple of areas for improvement. Sometimes, I speak with representatives who don't seem to listen closely and rely heavily on scripts, which can be frustrating. Additionally, in the past, I've encountered technicians who lacked the expertise to address my issues, resulting in multiple unnecessary visits. An example is when my range and dishwasher had problems, and the repair person just kept calling the manufacturer instead of resolving the problem. After insisting on a qualified technician, the issue was finally resolved swiftly. Although there have been instances of minor back-and-forth, the coverage generally works for me. It provides a financial buffer against unexpected appliance repairs without needing a dedicated savings fund, which can be difficult to maintain.

I recently dealt with both American Home Shield and Stephen's Appliances, and my experience was mixed. When dealing with a broken appliance issue, Stephen's Appliances was fantastic. They managed to resolve the problem that another company, Sears, couldn't even address. The contrast in service quality was stark as Sears didn’t even show up, yet falsely claimed a customer signature. I was deeply frustrated with Sears, to say the least.
On the other hand, American Home Shield's customer service left much to be desired. Their representatives seemed to stick strictly to a script, which didn't instill much confidence in their problem-solving abilities. I primarily engaged with them over the phone, prompted by my realtor, who initially chose and paid for the service as part of the home purchase process.
Even though I didn't directly pay for the service fees due to the realtor arrangement, the deductibles were surprisingly high at $125. In terms of rating Stephen's Appliances, they earned a solid 5 stars for their excellent service, whereas my general experience with American Home Shield was less favorable. Issues with other contractors and problems such as blocked drains and mismanaged services added to my dissatisfaction. The confusion over a faulty drain that required multiple service calls was overwhelming, to say nothing of the ongoing ordeal regarding a $600 refund for unresolved sewage issues.

I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield. While they come in handy when you urgently need assistance, the contractors they send out often don't do a good job. For example, I had issues with the installation of an oven and stovetop, which were not resolved by the contractors. They failed to inform me about a missing piece for the oven, which led to me having to hire someone else and spending extra money. Communication was also poor; contractors didn't notify us properly before arriving, which led to missed appointments. When the contractors failed to return as promised, we ended up handling the installation ourselves by hiring an external contractor. This contractor identified the need for a new breaker box for the oven, something the original contractors missed, which could have posed a fire hazard.
I've been with American Home Shield since 2018, and while sometimes they handle minor issues effectively, like simple repairs, they fall short on more critical matters like electrical issues. Their service fee and monthly charges feel unjustified, as I've ended up paying substantial amounts out-of-pocket for essential repairs they should have covered. Overall, I'm neutral about their services due to mixed experiences but remain dissatisfied with the pricing given the unreliable service quality.

I ended up canceling my service with American Home Shield because of this horrendous experience with their contractor, Ukon Appliance. Even after switching to another home warranty company, they also assigned Ukon Appliance, which forced me to buy a new washer just to avoid dealing with them. My dissatisfaction is so significant that I would rate American Home Shield below 1 star if possible due to their association with Ukon Appliance and their inability to resolve issues. I've lodged multiple complaints, yet all they do is make empty promises about getting back to me. I believe the organization's hands are tied to their contractors, and they simply don’t care about customer issues. This whole experience has been frustrating and disappointing.

We had major appliance issues, which left us without a microwave or oven for a month and a half. My daughter has stage 4 cancer, and this added stress was not something we needed. The repair process was inefficient; three different companies were involved and the timeline kept extending. The last company, Fast Appliance Repair, finally managed to fix the appliances by replacing some parts, but we’re still waiting on a handle for the stove. In comparison, my previous warranty company was much more efficient. American Home Shield seemed to have constant delays, always needing to reach out and follow up, causing a week of waiting. Honestly, I’m dissatisfied with their service and don't plan to use them again. They need to improve their response time and coordination to avoid leaving customers in prolonged inconvenient situations.

I recently had an issue with my heating system as the furnace wasn't lighting. American Home Shield assigned a contractor from Sundance Services, who arrived promptly and fixed the problem within an hour. The technician was knowledgeable and had a great attitude. However, I've had repeated issues with my refrigerator over the past year. It frequently breaks down, and despite multiple service calls, the problem persists. Each time, I'm required to pay the service fee again, which has been frustrating as the same issue occurs every few months. It's disappointing that even after six instances, there hasn't been a replacement offered.

My initial experience involved calling after my seasonal heating maintenance, where the technician noted some needed repairs which I didn’t realize were covered by my American Home Shield policy. There was an issue with my heater, which made a loud, straining noise each time it came on. Regarding the service experience, I initially found the contractors from Myers Comfort Specialists cordial, though one of them seemed preoccupied with a phone call. There were also some discrepancies between the first contractor's explanation and the second team's follow-up, which left me confused about the situation. However, I'm pleased with the affordability of the deductible and the fact that American Home Shield responds promptly, offering 24/7 support.
On the downside, I've encountered a contractor who was quite disrespectful, making assumptions about my needs concerning my dishwasher. After reporting this experience, I requested not to have that company return. I believe American Home Shield could benefit from screening and evaluating their contractors more thoroughly to ensure a respectful and professional service experience for customers. I recommend them to others, especially senior homeowners, because the service could really help with unexpected home maintenance issues.

I've been with American Home Shield for almost 10 years, ever since I bought my house. Recently, I had to file a claim with them for a broken garage door. The spring needed replacement, but the technicians didn't have the necessary parts on their first visit. However, they were professional and managed to fix everything by the next day. I was surprised by how efficiently one technician handled the entire job in just an hour and a half. While I've had good experiences, like with an electrical issue where the technician was also commendable, I do sometimes find the vendors tied to American Home Shield trying to charge more out of pocket. That's something I think they could work on. Despite some hiccups with vendor charges, I'd still recommend American Home Shield.

I encountered an issue with my oven overheating and burning food, so I submitted a claim with American Home Shield through their website, which was easy to use. Before the contractor arrived, I received information about the company and the expected visit date. Closer to the appointment, the contractor confirmed a specific time window for their arrival. The service was excellent. The technician who came to fix my oven was the same person who previously resolved a dishwasher issue for me earlier in the year. He was thorough, conducted tests to diagnose the problem accurately, ordered the necessary parts, and scheduled the next appointment before leaving. It took about a week and a half in total from part delivery to repair. Since the repair, both appliances have been functioning perfectly, just like before.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when our heating was malfunctioning and blowing cold air instead of hot. Pearson Mechanical LLC came out to address the issue and were absolutely wonderful. They visited several times and replaced multiple parts to get everything working correctly.
The interaction with the contractor was great; they were responsive and helpful. Whenever the repairs weren't successful initially, they had no issue returning to resolve things. They even guided me on how to handle a recall when my insurance didn't cover everything, which was helpful since I had no prior knowledge about it.
What I appreciate most about American Home Shield is their prompt service. As soon as I submitted a service request, they contacted the repair company, and we had someone at our house within a day or two. However, I do wish they could provide broader coverage. There are parts of my policy, like pool coverage, which I don't use but likely pay for, and I would prefer having the option to choose what is covered according to my needs.
For anyone considering a home warranty provider, I'd genuinely recommend American Home Shield. I've dealt with other insurance companies before, and they stand out as the best to me.

I submitted a claim using their app, which I found very user-friendly. They assigned Economy Comfort INC to handle the repair. I received the contractor's name and number beforehand, which was helpful.
The interaction with Economy Comfort was great—they communicated well and arrived as scheduled. They updated me via text that they were attempting to fix the switches. Unfortunately, the repair wasn't successful since the switches weren't the issue, and now the microwave needs to be replaced. Despite the outcome, I appreciated their effort.
I've been with American Home Shield since May 2024, thanks to my realtor. The main benefit for me is the peace of mind it provides. I highly recommend American Home Shield for its ease of use and comprehensive coverage.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for issues with my toilets and a water hose bib. The toilets were consistently leaking, and despite filing a previous claim months earlier, the problem persisted. I was traveling, and upon returning home, the San Antonio water system notified me of excessive water usage, even when no one was home. ASAP Plumbing finally addressed the leaking toilets by replacing internal components, stopping the running water.
However, the experience with the water hose bib was frustrating. The technicians gave excuses, saying it was outside the foundation, which wasn’t the case, and claimed weather might have caused the damage—an unlikely scenario given the mild 50-degree temperatures. Their reluctance seemed to stem from wanting to charge me $700 to fix it out-of-pocket, despite my warranty coverage. After determining the issue myself, I realized replacing it would cost about $30 in parts, prompting my frustration over paying for what should be covered services.
This back-and-forth without resolution reflected poorly on American Home Shield's service. I had to request a second opinion, and though they eventually sent another team, they were affiliated with the first, perpetuating the same negating diagnosis. Furthermore, the customer service was difficult; getting a second opinion felt like pulling teeth, and customer service representatives often contradicted warranty details, leaving me to defend my coverage.
I've been with American Home Shield for about 4 to 5 years, switching over from Landmark. I submitted claims online or by calling and often encountered repetitive issues that previous technicians failed to resolve. Despite having good coverage on paper, I frequently found myself debating with representatives over terms and entitlements. It’s frustrating to feel like you're paying for something you're not fully receiving. Thus, I wouldn’t recommend the service, given my experience, rating the overall service at a 1 out of 5 if possible.

I had an experience with American Home Shield regarding an issue with my heating system. The heating element broke, and it needed to be replaced. American Home Shield connected us with East Ohio Furnace, whose representatives were nice and efficient. They inspected the problem and determined that it needed to be replaced. The process took almost a week—from a Wednesday to the following Tuesday.

I've been using American Home Shield mostly due to recommendations from others including my realtor, but I'm not gonna be with them very much longer. When my AC needed fixing, they were quite responsive, and a contractor contacted me over the weekend and scheduled a repair promptly for the next day. However, my experience with them changed drastically when I had an issue with my garage door in December.
I first contacted them on December 4th. They scheduled a repair for December 18th, which I felt was too long to wait, especially since I needed access to my garage. When I asked if they could expedite the process or find another contractor, they canceled the existing appointment to search for a new one without confirming another slot. This resulted in a series of cancellations and rescheduled appointments stretching over a month. I didn't get my garage door fixed until January 8th by the same contractor they initially assigned.
The situation was exacerbated when I realized the repair required additional work that wasn’t covered by American Home Shield, leaving me with an unexpected $300 expense on top of the service fee. Despite repeated calls and requests for a more favorable solution or some form of compensation for the inconvenience, I received no assistance and was told that balancing the garage door, necessary after the repair, was not covered under their policy.
This ordeal unfortunately left me very dissatisfied with their service. I encountered long waits, canceled appointments without a backup, additional costs, and unresponsive customer service, ultimately prompting me to consider switching to another provider.

Every time I deal with AHS, it's excellent. When I submit claims, I do it online, and someone usually arrives within a day. While their staff's attitudes are generally good, I encountered an issue with a contractor for my water heater. He quoted a high price, but I decided to handle it myself. I got a new one installed with a warranty for $1700 by my usual plumber. American Home Shield refunded me $750, which I felt was a bit low but acceptable. Despite this incident, American Home Shield has always been reliable and helpful in my past experiences.

I've had a mostly positive experience with Appliance Repair Select through American Home Shield. The technician, Margarito, always delivers excellent service. Recently, my dryer started leaving marks on clothes, including expensive sheets. Margarito was efficient, diagnosing the problem accurately and fixing it quickly, just as he had done in the past. I've had issues with other technicians from different companies sent by American Home Shield who weren't as reliable, requiring multiple visits without resolution. While I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 3 out of 5 due to inconsistent service, Appliance Repair Select with Margarito deserves the highest praise. Whenever possible, they are the only service I want to handle my appliances.

I had a rather frustrating experience with American Home Shield. It was the middle of winter, and it took them almost three months to address my furnace issue. I first contacted them by phone on December 7th, but they didn't send out Dependable Heating and Air until late January. This delay, over a month and a half, was extremely inconvenient during the winter months.
Once Dependable Heating and Air arrived, they did a great job fixing the furnace. The service from them was excellent, but American Home Shield's initial response time was highly disappointing.
I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of years and I'd give them a one-star rating due to their poor customer service and response times.
I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. AHS apologizes for not meeting your expectations. If your concerns regarding your claim is unresolved, please send your contact information to consumeraffairs@ahs.com and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

Overall, the service provided by AHS was satisfactory, and I would rate my experience a 5 out of 5.

I recently had to use American Home Shield for a claim involving my washing machine that wouldn't operate. Submitting the claim was fair, though the process was somewhat delayed as they were busy and the service order required parts. It took about four to five weeks for the parts to arrive, which was longer than expected.
The interaction between the contractor, GM Appliance Service, and American Home Shield involved some back-and-forth communication.
Overall, I'd rate my experience a 4 out of 5. The service is getting better, though there can be unforeseen delays due to various variables. However, I'm satisfied with the outcome as things are functioning fine now.

I have been with American Home Shield for over 10 years and recently had an issue with my refrigerator not cooling. Doctor Maintenance came out, ordered a part, and fixed it, and it’s been working well since. Whenever I’ve needed to contact American Home Shield, I’ve always done so by phone, and I must say their customer service is excellent.
I've always had a good experience with American Home Shield. When I had to call to fix anything in my home, I got immediate responses and I didn't personally have any problems. The only thing is, over the years, the fees have increased, which I wasn’t thrilled about. I'm also paying more now than before because I had a stoppage in service and when I started up again, the price was a bit more. Despite this, I opted for a plan where I pay $100 upfront, ensuring no additional costs when service is provided.
If friends or family ask, I would recommend American Home Shield. They've been professional and responsive whenever I’ve called them. I just note that prices may be higher now due to inflation. Overall, I rate them 5 stars for service and customer care, though I would give a 3 for pricing, as I wish I was paying less.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

We usually go through American Home Shield's website to request services, which is quite convenient. We fill out the claim, then somebody grabs the request, and they come out to do the service. For our main house, when we contacted them, they promptly sent out a company called Down The Line Plumbing, and they resolved our issue on time.
I have another house that we have American Home Shield with and when we apply to get somebody to come out, they don't respond. They say it's been assigned, but then the people never contact us. That's possibly because that house is a little more remote.
Regarding the work done by Down The Line Plumbing, everything has been satisfactory with no recurring issues. Overall, I would rate this service experience a 4 out of 5. American Home Shield provides a convenient service, but I don't know if it's for everybody.
As for the value of the service in terms of cost, I rate it a 4 out of 5. Their online portal works, earning a full 5 out of 5 from me.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for about five years, during which I've moved around a lot and they've consistently provided excellent service. Recently, I had an issue with my heating where it was essentially frozen. From the inside out, there was a big block of ice. They sent a technician named AJ from Reliable Heating and Cooling, who was fantastic. It took two visits to completely resolve the issue. He thought it was one thing and it ended up temporarily fixing it, then it went back to the same thing a couple of days later. AJ was very determined and helpful. He even said something like, "If it's broken again, I'm gonna come out and put this on my truck and fix it." He was so willing to get it figured out. Since the second visit, the heating has been working perfectly.
Throughout my various experiences with American Home Shield, I've found their service to be impressive, particularly for large repairs like refrigerators and freezers. However, the smaller issues, like a single outlet malfunction, can still incur a $135 service call fee, which is a bit frustrating. Despite this, I'd still highly recommend them for anyone looking for a home warranty. They're very generous and helpful when it comes to long-term projects.
In terms of overall satisfaction, I'd give them a 5-star rating. Their customer service is excellent and very easy to access online, earning another 5 stars. For pricing, I'd rate them a 4, as I find it reasonable despite the minor concerns on smaller service calls.

Overall, everything went smoothly, and the dishwasher is now functioning perfectly.
I've used American Home Shield for my home warranty needs twice, and both experiences have been positive. The first claim was for my ac, which was fully covered. The dishwasher claim was partially approved, and I paid the difference. I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 5 out of 5, as it has been beneficial for me.

My experience with American Home Shield was positive. I had an issue with my heating system where it was making a loud noise when it cut off. I submitted a claim by calling them, and the process was quite easy. Before the contractor, May Heating and Air LLC, arrived, I received notifications via email and phone calls.
The contractor did a good job addressing the issue. They cleaned some parts and explained that the noise I was hearing was due to the normal expansion and contraction of the furnace. When it cuts on, it expands, then when it cuts off, it deflates. I was going to hear that noise anyway, but after the service, the noise was not as loud as before. Overall, I would rate my experience a 4 out of 5.
I chose American Home Shield because I own a house and I don't have a bunch of money. If something breaks, I need to get it fixed, and their pricing seemed reasonable. Initially, I had contacted another company, choice, but I didn't continue with them due to a negative interaction with their rep. I would recommend American Home Shield based on my first service experience.
I've been satisfied with the service's price and the customer service, and I encountered no issues with their website.

My experience with American Home Shield was terrible. During the winter, we were freezing for about three weeks because American Home Shield insisted on sourcing parts from their specified supplier. It took an excessive amount of time for the parts to arrive, and we were without heat in Boise, Idaho, where it was around 20 degrees. Although they tried to keep us informed, it made no difference as we were still left freezing.
I rated the experience as 'one' - very dissatisfied. I even suggested canceling the policy and switching to another provider. I shared my thoughts with my niece when she was considering home warranty options, advising her against choosing American Home Shield.
Submitting a claim involved contacting them online, and they sent a contractor to our home. Initially, they claimed to fix the issue, saying it was just a capacitor, but the problem persisted. We called them back and when they returned, it was apparent a part needed ordering, which led to the three-week ordeal.
The contractors who visited were nice and it wasn’t their fault, but overall, I would not recommend American Home Shield based on my experience.

My recent service experience with American Home Shield was somewhat mixed. Initially, I had a water leak issue and submitted a claim for which Pronto Plumbing was the contractor assigned. The process of submitting the claim felt a bit impersonal, as the representative didn't make me feel particularly at ease.
The scheduling wasn't immediate; I had to wait a bit before they could send someone out. However, once the plumber arrived and I managed to break the ice with him, he was quite helpful and explained the situation clearly. My main concern was that he repaired only what was visibly damaged and didn't investigate further behind the drywall, where another leak was eventually found.
The follow-up service was where I faced challenges. After discovering another leak, I had to call Pronto again, and although they eventually got back to me, it took some effort on my part. What I did not like was the fact that I was told they were gonna call me right back, but they never did. There was also an additional charge for the second visit, which was frustrating given that it stemmed from the initially unresolved issue.
In terms of American Home Shield's customer service, I appreciated that I was able to speak to someone who spoke clear English, which isn't always the case. However, the representative's attitude seemed somewhat indifferent to my urgent situation.
Overall, I would rate my experience as a 3 out of 5. American Home Shield offers a cost-effective service, but the quality of the service providers can be lacking. In a crisis, you want assurance that your issue will be handled thoroughly and effectively, and in this instance, the follow-up service fell short.

American Home Shield arranged for 495 Garage Doors to handle the repair for my garage door. The company called beforehand to confirm their visit, arriving as scheduled. The technician efficiently fixed the issue in about 45 minutes and did an excellent job.
My experiences with American Home Shield have varied somewhat, largely depending on the service provider they send. While some are exemplary, others fall short. Often, if a part needs replacing, it requires an extra visit, as the technicians can't carry every possible part on-hand. Typically, two visits suffice. However, on rare occasions, issues remain unresolved, necessitating the purchase of new items.
A notable concern is the response time. It can sometimes take 5 to 6 days to get someone on-site. While this delay was just an inconvenience for the garage door, it could have been critical if the issue were related to heating in the winter or air conditioning in the summer.
Overall, I'd rate my experience a 4 out of 5. The service is good, though not perfect, mainly due to occasional delays and inconsistencies among service providers.

I filed a claim regarding a circuit problem affecting several areas of my house, including the microwave. When I initially put in the request for service, there was a delay because the first contractor claimed she was sick and couldn’t make it. Another contractor was assigned, but they had trouble reaching me as they only called my line and not my wife's. After some back-and-forth communication with American Home Shield, the contractor rescheduled and eventually came to fix the issue.
Generally, the technicians have been friendly and competent when they come to our house. However, the main challenge was the scheduling. I had to take time off from work twice without anyone showing up, which was frustrating and resulted in lost work hours. It's important for scheduling to be precise, especially when customers need to adjust their work schedules.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been positive apart from the delays. I hope they can improve in this area to avoid such inconveniences in the future.

A contractor came out for my water that wasn't getting hot and my heat that wasn't blowing in my house. Once they got to the house, they thought that I wasn't receiving any power from the gas itself. Apparently, because my gas company was doing work in my area and they were switching out everybody's meters, they disconnected my service and didn't tell me that they did, so I filed a claim for nothing. The contractor didn't end up having to do anything. But they were very pleasant and told me what was going on. American Home Shield ended up sending me a check because I didn't have to have anything done.
When I bought my house year ago, American Home Shield was already included in my purchase for a year. I've never had an issue with them, so I've continued the service for nine years. I've had to file a few claims and the only thing that I've had through them that I was a little disappointed in was the fact that they never finished fixing my dishwasher and nobody ever told me that it was more parts that had to be ordered and I owed a balance.
The repairman already did half of the job and the sick part about it was the part that needed to be done was the easiest part. It was attaching the freakin' hose. Other than that, American Home Shield is a good company when it comes to getting things done immediately. When you call them, they're gonna schedule you an appointment as fast as they can. The only downside is I wish they would be more transparent about what is covered and, if there are any issues, they should call me or send me a letter. They should not put anything out on my account. Nobody checks their account everyday.

He replaced the defrost bulb in the refrigerator, restored its cooling function, and fixed the dryer by replacing its element. He also repaired the oven, which wasn't heating properly, by installing a simple part. The technician was knowledgeable and explained everything clearly, which I appreciated.
When I first submitted the claim, I spoke with a helpful representative over the phone. American Home Shield promptly responded, with the technician reaching out within 24 hours. Overall, the service was swift and effective.
I've been with American Home Shield because I needed reliable professional assistance without incurring huge repair bills. Their advertising caught my attention, and the cost seemed reasonable at around $50 per month, plus a $100 service call fee. The potential savings, especially with big repairs like a new washing machine, justified my decision.
I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to others based on my experiences. Their service has been consistently prompt and professional, and if my plumbing issues are handled as well as my appliance repairs, I'll remain a very satisfied customer. They had another gentleman in here this morning on my plumbing that I called about. He checked everything out and explained it very well. I had an experience with American Home Shield (AHS) when our furnace broke down during a cold snap, with temperatures around 20 below outside. They were responsive and scheduled a service visit, although we did have to wait a couple of days. The first technician attempted to fix the issue, but unfortunately, the furnace continued to malfunction. AHS rescheduled promptly, and the second technician provided excellent service. He quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the necessary parts, ensured the furnace was operational until the parts arrived, and returned to complete the repair on the third visit. Since then, the furnace has been functioning well without any issues.
I believe having the warranty with AHS has been worthwhile, despite some initial hiccups. They have ultimately been reliable in repairing or replacing appliances. I've used both their online portal and direct calls to contact customer service, and I've been able to reach someone promptly through both methods.
Overall, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield at 4 out of 5 stars. While I've experienced satisfactory results, there have been minor issues, like wait times, that affected my rating. For customer service and the quality of the work done, the process could occasionally be expedited.
Regarding costs, I find the price point fair. The co-pay of $100 for service calls is reasonable, and I feel the overall warranty cost is justified. Lastly, I found their website easy to use and navigation intuitive, which I would rate as a 5.
I appreciate the service overall and would recommend American Home Shield to others.

I had an experience with American Home Shield that did not start well but ended satisfactorily. Initially, we called them to fix a broken bracket in our dishwasher and to check a stove warning light that was malfunctioning. They sent out a repairman who fixed the dishwasher but inadvertently caused an electrical problem with our stove, leaving us without a functioning stove.
After the incident, it was frustrating to deal with American Home Shield's customer service. They planned to charge an additional fee to send an electrician, although the problem was caused by their technician. After some back and forth, they agreed to charge for the electrician but later reimbursed us, citing it as their policy.
The most frustrating part was waiting nearly three weeks for an electrician because their partners were unavailable. This was a significant inconvenience since we rely heavily on cooking at home. I even volunteered to find a contractor, but they were not receptive to the idea. Finally, All Spark Electric came to the rescue, showing excellent service by fixing the issue promptly.
Despite resolving the problem in the end, the ordeal of being without a stove for weeks and having to push through various levels of customer service left me dissatisfied with American Home Shield's service. Their call center seemed scripted and unhelpful until I escalated the matter.
While All Spark Electric deserved a 5-star rating for their work, the overall customer service experience with American Home Shield was disappointing, leading me to rate it one star due to the unhelpful support and lengthy delays.

Currently, I'm having my water heater replaced, and the technicians sent by them are great. I would even consider calling them for unrelated work because they are doing such a good job. However, there was a hassle with rescheduling when they wanted to order parts themselves instead of allowing the plumbing company to handle it. Previously, they had a similar approach with my furnace, opting for a repair when it clearly needed replacing due to its age and condition. Another issue cropped up during the water heater replacement—a hole in the roof was discovered. I am unsure if American Home Shield will cover this. It feels difficult to get in touch with customer service as they prefer everything done through an app, which can be frustrating.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield regarding a plumbing issue in one of my houses. The issue involved a clogged drain, and A&M Plumbing was able to resolve it on the same day they visited, which I appreciated. In my past experiences with American Home Shield, the resolution time has varied depending on the issue and the technician. With five houses, the service can sometimes involve a return visit or parts that need ordering, but it really depends on the situation and the technician's preparedness. I haven't always interacted directly with the technicians, as my tenants typically do that. However, on the occasions I've communicated with them over the phone, I've always been treated fairly. Although I used to encounter more issues previously, things have settled down now.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for 13 years. Initially, when I purchased my home, the previous owners provided a year's contract with American Home Shield, and I decided to continue with the service. Recently, I had a claim for a water issue in the basement where there was water on the floor. It was easy to contact an American Home Shield representative, and they were efficient in setting up a contractor visit. Normally, they assign someone, but this time, I was able to choose from a list, which was quite accommodating. I selected Water Heater Express LLC, as I had experience with them before, and they were excellent. Overall, American Home Shield offers peace of mind and helps cover unexpected costs. The service has been transparent and straightforward, and I've had no complaints. I would definitely recommend them to friends or family.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield when I had an issue with my garbage disposal, which was leaking. They facilitated the process by sending a technician to evaluate and replace the unit. Although a step was initially missed, they returned within 48 hours to correct it. Scheduling the service was straightforward through their app, and I received a follow-up call from the third-party servicer, who handled the work. American Home Shield acts as an insurance provider, working with local contractors to fulfill service requests. My interaction with both their customer service and the contractor was professional and efficient. The process allowed for easy communication and ensured the work was completed under a 30-day warranty.
While I recognize that issues can occur, I'm more focused on the responsiveness and accountability displayed by American Home Shield, which was commendable. They acknowledged the oversight promptly and made the necessary arrangements to rectify it, showing good customer service. The plan offered value for the money, as my $125 deductible covered the cost of a new disposal and its installation. Their flexible plan options allow homeowners to choose coverage that fits their needs, adding further value to their service.
We're thrilled to hear that you were satisfied with our services. We greatly appreciate your loyalty to us and thank you again for sharing your experience.

My experience with American Home Shield (AHS) has been extremely frustrating. I recently had a claim involving Aire Serv of Omaha to fix my air conditioning unit. The initial diagnosis was a loose wire, but the following week, I was informed that everything needed to be replaced. To my shock, AHS claimed that the repair wasn't covered under my contract. This left us paying $6,250 out of pocket, forcing us to make an early withdrawal from our 401k and incur penalties.
After numerous difficult calls with AHS representatives, some of whom were hard to understand due to background noise, the case was escalated, and I was eventually told that $1,200 would be covered. But this left a significant gap, and I wondered why, if it was covered, the remainder wasn't included. I even tried contacting an attorney but still haven't received a callback.
The situation was especially stressful because it occurred right before Christmas. We live in Idaho, but I had to rely on contacts in Omaha to ensure my renters had heat. It meant waiting for a week for funds to clear from the 401k, leaving us financially strained. After being a customer for about four years, this ordeal has left me highly dissatisfied. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield based on this experience; it's been nothing short of a nightmare.

I recently had an issue with my heating system, and I reached out to American Home Shield for help. A power surge had burned the wires, and when I called them, they promptly sent out a contractor. The technician diagnosed the issue quickly, finding the burned wires inside a metal box. Unfortunately, I was informed that American Home Shield would not cover the repair costs, as the entire system needed replacing. However, they were helpful in guiding me through the process and providing advice, even though I had to use my homeowner's insurance to cover the expenses.
The contractor, Georgia Heating and Cooling, was knowledgeable and quick in identifying the problem. Overall, the process went smoothly, and I appreciated American Home Shield's support during the situation, even though they couldn't assist financially.
I've already recommended American Home Shield to others due to their excellent communication and guidance. I rate their service highly, as they were helpful, and their pricing is excellent considering the insurance covered the costs.

American Home Shield (AHS) contracted LA Appliance Service Corp. to repair my washer, and due to their negligence and incompetence, I have now been without a working washer for over a month with no resolution in sight. Timeline of Events: January 5, 2025: AHS assigned my work order to LA Appliance Service Corp. One week later: A technician inspected the washer, stated multiple parts needed replacement, and claimed they would order them the next business day. Two weeks later: No updates. I called AHS multiple times, and they repeatedly told me the issue was "escalated," but nothing changed. Three weeks later: I was contacted by LA Appliance, only to be asked for my washer’s make and model—proving they never even ordered the parts.
After another two weeks: A repair appointment was scheduled. I took time off work, but they canceled on the same day due to a "technician emergency." A week later: A new appointment was scheduled. Again, they failed to show up. When I called, they said they couldn’t even contact their own technician. February 11, 2025: I spoke with AHS, who told me LA Appliance would be coming today. However, LA Appliance then called me directly and said they were actually coming next week.
AHS Failed to Take Action: Despite my multiple calls, AHS refused to assign another service provider, even after acknowledging LA Appliance was unresponsive. I requested a cash payout for my washer so I could replace it myself, but AHS denied my request. I have already paid a monthly premium and a $125 service fee to AHS, yet I have received nothing but delays and excuses. Upon further research, I found at least 20 other people in my town alone who had the exact same issue—AHS contracted LA Appliance, and they never fixed the appliance.
AHS Is Failing to Uphold Their Contract. American Home Shield has failed to fulfill their obligations under our agreement. They continue to contract with a service provider that they know is not doing their job and refuse to take accountability. At this point, I have canceled my policy with AHS due to their lack of service and deceptive practices. This is a scam, and they are knowingly taking customers’ money without providing the services promised.
I hate to hear your experience has caused some frustration. I would love to assist with unresolved claims and concerns. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

The company that AHS initially referred to us wasn't satisfactory, but after expressing our concerns, they sent another company, Ventech, to handle the repairs. The technician, Vince, was exceptional. Despite a delay due to parts not being on the island, the service was completed efficiently within a week. Vince was communicative and timely, arriving the morning after the parts had arrived. He even followed up to ensure everything was functioning well. Overall, Vince's customer service was excellent, and I would highly recommend American Home Shield, rating them a 5 for their customer service, warranty coverage, and pricing.

Instead of replacing the appliance or fixing the problem, they sent a new technician each time, who just diagnosed, troubleshot, and replaced parts—with no success. Parts took forever to arrive, and scheduling follow-up visits was a nightmare. In the end, my issue was never resolved, and I was passed around between technicians and companies without any lasting solution. You need some protection, but if you could find something better, get it. I'm shopping for a better insurance because I'm not pleased with American Home Shield. I like having some protection, knowing that if my oven goes out, I can get another and not have to pay for it. But over the years, the service has gone down. It started mostly with plumbing. AHS would give me an appointment that was two weeks away. But my toilet didn't work today. Also, I don't like paying $100 initially when I call for the service when I'm paying $100 a month. I pay $1,200 a year for the insurance.
We had an outlet that wouldn't come on. The light switches in our living and family rooms wouldn't come on. I called AHS and said that I would like to make a claim, said what it was, and they would outsource it to their vendor. They would call me and make an appointment. However, I'm not pleased with the service. The vendor did the one in the living room, which was fine. But my husband said the family room wasn't finished. When I called the vendor to tell them it wasn't finished, I needed to make an appointment for them to come back but I never heard from them again. AHS would call and ask if it was completed or they would always do a follow-up. I assume they knew because I never got a follow-up from them.

I'm glad everything worked out. AHS followed the rules and we got the issue fixed, but it was with some difficulty. One of the things that would help me as a homeowner is when there is a backup and the wait would be too long, I would like a buyout option. They probably do, but if they do, I've been unaware of it. At least give me the option to find my own person to take care of the issue if it would be that long in the future.
The guy came in and assessed that there was a leak coming out of the bottom of the toilet. After checking here, he determined that the wax ring needed to be replaced, and he did. The first time I called about that issue, a plumbing company by the name of F6 was contacted. The guy came out and seemed he knew what he was doing, but he just did a bit of an auger check. It was the same issue. And for some reason, he decided to take the back off of the toilet. He contacted American Home Shield and said it was an industrial toilet and/or a commercial toilet. It was foreign to me because I've had that toilet replaced a couple of years back by a well-known insurance company contractor. After he left, I was upset because he told me that he couldn't fix the toilet or do anything to it because it was a commercial toilet, and quoted me 800 bucks to fix. I said, “That's not gonna happen, so have a good day.” He was here for 10 minutes.
A neighbor sells commercial grade toilets and other toilets. I told him what happened. He contacted a couple of friends who are well-known in the community, who are experienced 20+ years. They said that it sounded like the guy just didn't want to do the work and that he reported it as such because he knew that the warranty would be denied, and that it is not a commercial toilet, which I knew it wasn't. But it had what is called a pressure assist. While it may not have the traditional flap on there that you can see, once you take it apart, you can see that it does have a pressure assist.
I called AHS back and told them, “I don't think they did a good job. I don't think they did the right thing.” AHS, following true to the warranty, sent out a second opinion. I didn't say anything to the guy. I was just gonna let it be what it is, and he walked in there and said, “Looks like it might be a wax ring.” He picked the toilet up, changed out the wax ring, and that was the end of it. He was a much better person for the job. He told me the same thing that some of the other plumbers in the area told me, that they collected a service fee that day and ran off. That's tough for home warranty companies because it's tough on both them and on the homeowner. You do have companies out there with some shady tactics where they think, “I'll just do this and I'll do that.” I let AHS know that F6 was not a good company to be in bed with.
While I wasn't happy about the first incident, AHS did honor the secondary part of the agreement which was to get a second opinion to come out. When I scheduled the secondary person to come, it wasn't until after the beginning of the year that they showed up. That toilet was out of commission for a while. The waiting and the sitting around was not appreciated. I tried to tell the tech initially, because unfortunately, whoever takes the orders and pushes out the things just tried to follow the rules and said, “If they come to the same determination, it's gonna be $125 more dollars.” I said, “No, it's not because I'm telling you that these guys did this and everything, but ultimately we never had to have that secondary conversation.”
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

We used American Home Shield twice in December. We had our water heater broke. It had flooded, so it was broken. It took 17 days to get a new water heater, so it was inconvenient. Our lives were disturbed by not having any hot water in our house for that period of time, especially over the holidays. We let AHS know on the 18th of December that we needed to get somebody out there. The following day, AHS had a repair person come out, but they were people from out of our area. They assessed the situation. They ordered the wrong parts at one point or the wrong parts were sent in.
I heard that the parts were 100 miles away. They had to figure out how to get them here. They ended up fixing it but we had to make alternative plans to take showers and carry on with our lives. We were frustrated that it didn't get handled as quickly as we hoped for. The incident with the water heater was a real struggle for us. I feel that they get people from out of the area. That's weird. They're decent about showing up initially. In general, it's okay.
We replaced the dishwasher. The dishwasher had an electrical problem, which I had AHS send a contractor out and do an inspection and take care of the problem. We did not get a new dishwasher. It was brand new. But we had replaced it on our own because it rusted inside. It was not covered under AHS. I thought they would just try to fix the problems. And it was an older dishwasher. I wanted a new one at that point.
The other thing was our garage door opener went down a month ago. I had another door company come out before I realized that same day that my garage door wasn't working. I received in the mail the renewal from AHS. And I took time to read through it to see what all was included. I had a garage door person coming out anyway. They assessed the problem. I knew exactly what it was. I called AHS. Even though they've used that company in the past, they said, “We deal with a different company.” So, I told that person that he can't fix it.
AHS only approved the bare minimum, knowing that, fairly shortly, there's another problem that will happen with that door. It was a metal spring, and it should have been replaced on both sides. The other company would do that. On my policy, they would only do the broken one, even though the other one was very weak and will go soon. Every time I make a claim, I have to pay the service fee, which was $100. I'm sure the repair was $700.
I continue to pay the premium every year. It had been years since we had anything go wrong, but we have some expensive appliances in our house so I continue. But the price goes up every year. Luckily, we had AHS for these situations. I'm sure with the amount of work that we would have paid for for a new water heater, it paid for itself this past year.
Dear Cynthia,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is important to us, it will help us ensure a better experience next time.

There was an error code on the oven that my wife sent that had to do with a fan. I called when I was home last. The contractor came on Christmas Eve. The stove would throw an error code every now and then but everything still worked. And if we just turned it off, turn it back on, it would be fine on the oven. The first maintenance guy came from Sears Home Services. The tech put a new fan blower in it based on the error code on the top. My wife took pictures and sent them to me. He had put the stove back together and but the door wasn't aligned. Also, there were several screws left after he put it back together. The stove didn't work at after he finished. It surprised me that the first repairman didn't test anything to make sure it was working. He just left after he was done putting the fan motor in. My wife went over to use the stove and nothing worked. It wouldn't even turn on. But he was already gone. It was Christmas Eve.
He left my wife without a stove on Christmas Eve, which is the worst thing you can do when she's got 40 people coming over to the house for dinner. She ended up going to the neighbors and cooking all the food for the dinner that night. She was upset because she didn't have her stove or her oven. I called American Home Shield back. They called Sears. They sent a second guy four days later. It was on December 27th or 28th. The second guy came in and said, "This guy didn't know what he was doing. I know what to do and I'll work on it." He got it back to working. He said it was a temporary fix. He also said, "I'm gonna check some other things and order some parts." He did what he needed to do.
He got it working again, but every once in a while, it still throws an error code and the oven shuts off. Continuing to turn it back on wasn't exactly the fix I wanted, but at least it got us until he could get the parts. He ordered a new part. Something on the plug was different with the other one. That would have made the circuit board think that there was a problem. That's why it shut the whole stove down.
AHS got a third person. The second person ordered parts, we haven't heard back. I called AHS. It was still the same guy as the second visit, but a third visit. He said, "It looks like we need these parts. Have you received them?" I said no. Over the next few days, we received them. I'm sitting here on February 7th, a month and a half later, still waiting for somebody to come and put these parts in. As of last week, they said, "I see you're still waiting on parts." I said, "How many parts you ordered?" She said two. That's where my wife told her, "We've got two parts here. Tell me what they are. I can tell you if that's what they are. But we got two parts here."
The big challenge I have is a very strong lack of communication. Nobody knew what the other people had done. I had to re-explain everything every time I talked to somebody. No notes on anything, very poor customer service. I've challenged AHS. I said, "I realize this is Sears Home Services. Maybe that meant something at one point in our lives. It usually meant very good repair people. But clearly, that's not what it is today. And I have to hold you accountable for the people you're sending me. Because I pay you, right?"
They kept telling me, "Let me give you the number to Sears." I said, "I don't think you understand. I should not be calling Sears. You should be calling and getting the fix for me. And then you should be following up with me to ensure I'm satisfied. And if I have to call any more, I'm gonna think of either going to another warranty company or just getting rid of it all together. Because what I pay, the return isn't there, right?"
I pay them every month. I don't ask for much very often. In three years, I've only had to repair a couple of things. I'm not without means. When something breaks, I just have it fixed or replaced. I'd probably be ahead in this game. But I do this because I travel heavily. I need my wife to have assurance that when she needs something, it's gonna get done, period. I don't care what it is. But the amount of effort it takes from the customer to get something done is a problem. I might as well just do it myself. It's just not worth the money that we pay. Unfortunately, I continue to allow it to auto deduct out of my account. I'm giving them second chances. It's not worth it.

My service requests with AHS always went smoothly. I open a ticket, a vendor comes out and fixes problem, then he goes away. I recently had a claim for the garage door opener and the tech took about an hour to identify the problem. It was a broken spring, which he replaced, and it was more of an issue with the garage door than the opener, so it took him a little longer.
When I lived in Michigan, I renewed our service with AHS, then I got relocated so we wound up selling our house and moving. And they would not work with me on refunding any of the money for the year. On one hand, I understood it. But on the other hand, they should've had a little compassion for things that are outside of the customer's control. Other than that, from a service standpoint, they've always been good.

AHS has been challenging to deal with. It took three trips for them to repair my oven and it's still not the way it should be. The oven temperature is not at the proper temperature and they say they don't care. They don't want to fix that. They finally put in a new igniter on their third visit, but it needs a new sensor. This happened in December and the contractor was Afford Appliance. Their tech said there's always a leeway but there was no leeway before and it's a newer oven. And I bake a lot, so I need the temperature to be precise. A thermometer in the oven is annoying because they fall and they get in the way of what you're baking. I've also been lied to. They said they were going to have the manager call me and they said they'd call me by the end of the day, but they never did.

Whenever I talk to American Home Shield, they're very kind and they provide great customer service. But sometimes they get things mixed up a little bit. For instance they sent out Lake Area Appliance to me three times and this last time, I asked American Home Shield to not send them out to me, but I ended up getting them anyway.
The first time they came out, they had to come out three times for my clothes washer. The tech was kind but he was very quick in fixing stuff instead of thoroughly checking out the washer. Then, when the part came in in November, they told me that they waited until after the holidays to come out. So, the part was in on November 18th and they didn't come out and replace it as soon as they should have. I shouldn't have had to wait until in January. The next time they came out was when they replaced the seal on my refrigerator. The person who came out asked me if I had any cooking oil and I said I did. I handed him the cooking oil and he poured some in the top and put his finger in it, then he rubbed it on the refrigerator door, which I thought was not a good thing to do. So, I was not impressed with that at all but I didn't make a fuss about it.
The other thing they came for was my dishwasher. It was not acting well and the tech didn't pull it out to check the operating board. Since my dishwasher wouldn't dry out, he told me I just had to leave it open to dry it out, which was one of the problems I was calling about because it was causing the mildew smell. The other thing was that the clean cycle would not go off. It would stay on even overnight. So, I started the dishwasher before he came so he could see what it did at the cycle because it was holding water. But he did not wait to see about anything. He just blew it off, said it was the plumber's job, and he didn't even look at the dishwasher for more than five minutes. That was kind of odd. He just said that I needed a plumber because under my sink, there was something type of condensation that was causing the wood to start to look like there was a leak from somewhere.
So, I called up AHS and asked for someone else to come out. American Home Shield sent someone else out and the first time they came out, they said they didn't see anything wrong with it, the job was complete, and everything was working. They said there's a little bit of steam that comes out on the side of the dishwasher, but that wasn't the reason. So, there wasn't a leak under my sink.
I called back and told them that things were the same and the washer wasn't working properly. They then came out a second time and changed the operating board. But I am frustrated with it and I just said I'll go ahead and leave the dryer open so it can dry out because it won't dry out. And the moisture stays in over until the next day. I am going to call the company that came out one more time and ask why the cleaning cycle won't go off because they're the experts, so they may just tell me when I have to open it. But to me, it's an inconvenience to have to worry about when the dishwasher is going to go off and I have to open it up. I also wondered if that is what all dishwashers do but I don't think that's the case.
Other than that, American Home Shield always gets someone out right away and I've had them for a very long time. They've been great about the quality. But in the area I'm in, Lake Area Appliances is the first one that pops up and they always come out. However, I've always had to call them and call the people that come out then call American Home Shield to get them to come out. So, the quality of service has went down. Also, the people that come out have to get on the floor, but usually, they short-tail us out, or they don't look professional at all. So, most of the time, I'm just not pleased with the people that AHS has been sending out.
They should give customer service because they charge me $100 a month and out of a year, they may come one time or every other year or every three years. So, they're getting their money and their rates are getting high. Aside from that, they should give standards that the contractors have to have when coming to your door like showing you a card instead of just saying so and so. But the techs call and tell you they're so many minutes away from you and they're coming your way, so you pretty much know that's them.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Kim

I had a clogged toilet. Tried to clear it myself, but I couldn't. I called AHS. Clear Flow came out and they took care of it. Everything's fine now. I like that it's easy and fast to submit a claim with AHS.

Recently, I hear a lot of negative feedback about American Home Shield. Their price is costly, and the service has cut down. AHS should revisit their cost and services, and earn the consumer's satisfaction. I started with a low price, but now I pay almost 200 a month. I am dissatisfied with AHS' cost. It's easy to file claim. And it is easy to reach AHS in the morning time. I know in the afternoon it gets difficult. And before, AHS is available for longer hours. They cut down their hours. I am going to change from AHS in the near future very soon.
The washing machine made some noise. Before the spin, it stopped. It stopped a few times. And it does not dry up the clothes. It washes up to a certain time. When it comes to the spin level, it does not proceed. So far, it's working. This is the second time it broke. The same thing happened. They fixed it before also. My furnace also broke. The technician came. He said the burner had to be replaced. It was very cold in northeast that time in early January this year. It took some time to get the furnace. I could not bear that cold.
You have to go through a system. I know that when you submit the claim, it has to go through the insurance approval. You have to get the machine first. And your company will come and fix it. But the enormous suffering the customer undergoes during that time from the cold, they cannot get out of that warning. I had to eventually call a local company and got the furnace fixed out of the insurance company. The furnace is 3,000. I got 850 from AHS. The labor cost is a different issue. I don't claim labor cost. So, how come in the market in 2025, a furnace can be $850? I cannot get that. That is also my great frustration with AHS. I didn't argue with them. They said to either take it or leave it. So, what can I do? Other than that, I am a fan of AHS and I advocated for them. Their willingness to help is good.
