I was okay with the service for my AC. Gagne Heating & AC was good in communicating. They arrived just in time when they promised. I also have a rental property. I was happy with Home Shield's service then that I chose that too. But then of late, I've seen their service has gone really bad. One thing, it's extremely difficult to get ahold of anybody. Second thing is with my rental property, just to schedule a technician visit for repair is a nightmare. If my AC is bad, I can't wait for a technician to come over in four days and look at that. I had a lot of problems. I had to get rid of that account from them. But for this house, I don't have much problem, except this time when I had a part to be replaced. They had buyout option also, but then the buyout price was ridiculously low. You can't get even the part in that price. I am not sure where they are getting that kind of buyout quote. I'm not happy with that.

We had a problem with our AC unit. It would turn on but then its fan would turn on with it. I put in a claim to American Home Shield and I got a text message a couple of hours later that I have been put on schedule with their contractor called Everyday Heating and Cooling. The tech who came had the part needed on him. Plus, he was in and out in 20 minutes. I was really happy with the timeliness and professionalism of AHS and Everyday Heating. More recently, I called AHS on a weekend because I was having an issue with my online account access and I was able to get a hold of someone really easily. Their rep fixed my issue over the phone.

Like any other Home Shield contractor, Clutch Appliance Repair did a great job. They eventually fixed everything that was needed, so I would recommend them to my mother-in-law. Clutch didn't take long to fix the issue. They came to my house multiple times, but they made sure when I said, "Hey, it's still not working," they said, "No problem." They rescheduled for another day and came out, and then they eventually fixed the problem. I understand that some things can be fixed the first time, but not everything can be fixed the first time, especially when it comes to dishwashers and fridges because those things can have multiple mechanisms in there.
Filing the claim to Home Shield was super easy. I always do it online when I do it. The people from Home Shield are really helpful most of the time. I haven't had any big complaints with them. We actually dropped American Home Shield for a while because we didn't realize the payment wasn't going through, and that was like a cascade effect. It was too much to pay all at once, and then we said, "We'll just cancel it." Then a few months later, I said, "You know, let's get Home Shield again.” Life is complicated sometimes, and American Home Shield helps reduce that complication.
We had a dryer that was messed up. The only drawback is the time it takes for them to come out and do a repair for like a washer and dryer. That speed's not there. To me, if you have a house, you have critical systems that need to be kept up all the time. When American Home Shield's contractors are very slow to respond or to come out, especially for air conditioning, that's where they fall short a little bit. But they do have a thing where you can have your own technician come out and pay for it and they reimburse it.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Grady's Air Conditioning fixed the AC and did a great job. On the other hand, I had someone come out a month ago to work on my refrigerator. He thought he had it fixed and when he left, we thought he had it fixed but the icemaker never made ice. So, I called them back three or four times before I finally got an answer. And then, they said I have to go through Home Shield. As of today, I have not gotten anyone at Home Shield to answer my call ever. When I left a message, they just didn't call me back.
I leave messages and messages, and I would have someone every once in a while when I call. And I have waited for one hour on hold before anyone answered only to tell me that that was the wrong department and that they would transfer me, which of course it hung up. Home Shield sucks because I’ve called them, they cannot get anybody to answer you. Unless you called sales then they would answer right away. I’m going to switch from Home Shield.

I live in Florida and New Jersey and that's where I am now in the summer. In New Jersey, a couple who I know had the air conditioning go. One of the people I know here said they had a furnace go. I was concerned about it and talked to someone here. He said he has American Home Shield. He also said they cover everything. I didn't get it for New Jersey ‘cause I left but I bought it instead when I got down to Florida.
We bought a house a number of years ago. It had this beautiful sink, kind of an antique type sink with this nice faucet which started leaking. The contractor came and said I had to replace the cartridge in the tank. They had to order the cartridges and had it delivered to my house. It came in about 4 days and they came and installed it. I was very pleased with them. The Cascade guy was very good. He's a nice guy and very professional. He figured out what was wrong almost immediately. Unlike most plumbers, he was a very neat guy. He did exactly what he said.

There was one time, I tried to do something online, but for whatever reason, I couldn't so I called. But it was fine. Home Shield does what I want it to do

I filled out American Home Shield's claim form online for an electrical issue in my garage. In about three days, their contractor Oak Electric came out. The techs from there were very professional. Everything has been resolved. So far, AHS has been very good in the two claims I've had with them. One was for my garage electrical issue and the other was for my AC. Everything has been handled without any problems. I'm very pleased with this company.

My dryer quit working and my refrigerator was leaking. It took a little while for Pro Appliance to get in touch with me. Then the date they were supposed to originally come out for the mobile assessment was the day that we had all that crazy phone thing where nobody could call anybody, and there was no contact. So they didn't come out to the house twice because of the epidemic. But they couldn't get in touch with us and we couldn't get in touch with them. So we just postponed it to the next day. A few days later, the technician came out and fixed it. They had to replace the belt on my dryer. They also told me that there was a clogged defroster line on the refrigerator. It was great.
I've had American Home Shield for a year this time. I've had two other times in the past. I hadn’t had any issues with them. If there was a problem, then they did what they had to do to make it right. As far as if something wasn't repaired the way it should have been or whatever, they would give me a free deductible if something else happened. It is a fantastic relief not to have to completely replace something. Usually, it's a large ticket item and not everybody has that money on hand. So it's better to pay 75 or $100 deductible with American Home Shield than to fork out around $900 for a new appliance.

American Home Shield works but there is a dreadful electrical company that represents them in Montgomery, and it's very big, but they have a extremely bad reputation. Home Shield lost the two big houses across the street from us because they insisted on sending Myers Electrical. They wouldn't accept Myers Electric inside their house. They weren't that bad for us, but they damn near electrocuted a repair guy.
They were sent to repair a circuit breaker, which is a safety device. When you remove the connection thing to a 220-volt circuit thing, a repairman assumes that he's safe. But instead of replacing the broken circuit breaker, the Myers guy just shorted it, so the current ran right through even if you pulled the circuit breaker. So this guy was not happy.
American Home Shield started telling us that we were not gonna be allowed to select our vendor. They were gonna send whoever was next to the list and that was usually Myers. So we told them if they do that to us, we're no longer an American Home Shield customer. They now allow us to use Trinity Heating & Air, which is, by far, the best for heating and air. We have a great plumber called BC Plumbing. It's a couple old guys but they're fast. They come. They do the job and that keeps us happy with American Home Shield. But we were very unhappy for a brief period. Other than that, we are moving and we are gonna use American Home Shield in our new house.

I have an older home and I've had a home warranty on it before. With AHS, It's great to be able to call. Recently, we were having problems with our electrical wiring and a couple of outlets were affecting light switches. We submitted a claim and Home Shield sent MCI Making Continuous Improvements. The tech from there was awesome. He figured stuff out and got everything rolling perfectly. There had been a short and luckily, the tech came because it could have been a fire. He replaced what had to be replaced and got things down to where the wiring was good again. Now, everything is fine and our lights are working. As a realtor, I've recommended AHS to other people.

American Home Shield sent Awesome Appliance Repair to repair my washing machine. As far as doing a claim, the process is fine as long as they come to the phone. It took two hours for them to come to the phone for a few times. I don’t like that part. It was terrible. Also, before Awesome came out, AHS sent somebody else and I didn't like it. They’ve been out to my house four times for the same project. I told AHS, “Don’t send them ever again to my house.” That was when they sent Awesome out, and they did fine.
It is really unfair that if you have a project and if you call back before they come out to look at that project, you pay extra $100. I don't agree with that especially if somebody was here the first time around. If they come back and they still have to come out, they want to charge you an extra hundred dollars. Still, overall, AHS is fine.

There was water leaking from the freezer side where we had the water and ice dispenser and GEO Appliance came out to fix it. It was something minor and we had it fixed. We've been American Home Shield’s customer since December of last year. This was the first claim we ever made. I also wanted to get American Home Shield for my other home, but most of my appliances in the other home are brand new except for the air conditioning. But I don't think they have such a plan to cover only a few items.
AHS contracts with other people and it takes anywhere been 10 to 15 days for someone to come out. And you always have to wait between certain hours, from 12:00 to 4:00 or 4:00 to 8:00. You have to waste the whole day waiting for the guy to show up, and he may or may not have the right part. So, from that aspect, I'm not happy at all. But that is in general and not just with American Home Shield.

I did a claim to American Home Shield for an issue with our washing machine. It was making noises upon startup and filling up the tub itself. After reviewing some items online, I found that the water pump itself was probably having issues. The person from Coastland Appliance came out, looked at it, saw that that was the exact same thing and gives confirmation and he ordered the part. It came in a couple days and he fixed it promptly. It's working perfectly now. So everything is very satisfactory. From time to time, which is nice, American Home Shield has specials where you have air condition tune ups. That's been very helpful too.

The dishwasher wasn't draining and submitting a claim to American Home Shield was simple. Home Buddy Appliance Repair did well and they got whatever was clogged in there so it drained properly. Also, they were nice and friendly. I do some property management and 'm a Realtor. We put a lot of people into home warranties and I do about 40 to 50 transactions a year. So we're with all the folks out here, the reps and the area representatives. American Home Shield offered the monthly payment, which was why I initially went with them. But I don't like the way they charge $100 when everyone else charges 75 for a claim. I’ve since found out there are a couple others that also do the monthly. But my experience with AHS has been good.

I have no problems submitting claims with American Home Shield. It's just like some of the contractors who come out are idiots like this last time. We had a plumber come in first and he couldn't do anything, and he suggested the whole well guy, which fixed the problem. But when he was here trying to fix the problem, he ruined our faucet. He said he couldn't unscrew it to get the sediment out. It backflushed the lines. And ever since I moved in the house, I had no problem unscrewing the thing. I just used a butter knife, but I didn't screw up my faucet. He's a plumber, so he does this for a living and he takes out his tool that didn't work and screwed up my faucet. Now, if it gets clogged, I have no way of unclogging and getting rid of the sediment now, which forced us to get a new faucet, which I'm gonna have to call Home Shield for so they can replace it. I already called the plumber and they refused to replace it.
American Home Shield could improve on their response time for certain things, just like right now, we put a call in for our air conditioner, and they said they were supposed to call in 24 hours. They never called. I called and they said, "The contractors ain't taking any more appointments." I can see why because it was super hot. Maybe they got overloaded with the weather. But at least, if they can't make an appointment, they should call and say, "Hey, we can't make an appointment" instead of having us call, get put back in the queue and wait for another 24 hours, which we did and they never called back. Even though we got a text saying they were gonna call, they never called. Now, we're gonna go for outside authorization, so we can get somebody in there and get reimbursed.
Thanks for being a loyal customer and for sharing your experience with us. We are working to improve our process and we apologize for any issues you experienced along the way. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

Home Shield has been absolutely fantastic. Any problem we’ve had, it's fixed within a couple of days. The AC wasn't blowing cold at all. For three years in a row, we've had to have Jungle Cat come out. They said they were putting something in there but the last gentleman that was here said they didn't. It makes me wonder if we have to do this every year with them. When they come out, we expect them to fix it. But the last guy put Freon in there and it’s now blowing cool. They did pretty good, apart from leaving a part of the unit open for all the wires to be exposed to the rain. My husband had to go back up on the roof and fix it.

There was water collecting at the bottom of the refrigerator and running out on the floor. The freezer side has a water and ice dispenser, and water was dripping from those. So, Hotshot Appliance came out and found that there was some kind of hole on the refrigerator's side that was stopped up. They cleaned that out and that went away. I told the man at the same time that he was here that the water was leaking and he told me that I needed a new filter. I ordered the new filter, got it put in and the water continued to drip. So, I called them back and told them that the water was still dripping.
The man told me I needed a new filter. And so, they said because I told them about it the first time that there wouldn't be an additional charge. They came out and some kind of flap was not fully closing where the ice comes out so, the ice was melting and causing the water to drip. So, they had to order the part and they left. While they were gone, the ice maker stopped dispensing ice so when they came back, I said that the ice maker was not making ice. The guy said that it was because air was getting up in there where the flap wasn't closing and because air was getting in there, the ice was damming up. They brought the part back and they got ice out from where it has solidified. I said that I didn't know that was what was going on because that has been going off and on for a while. They said that it was what it was. They replaced that and the ice started coming out, and they left.
After that, when you would go to push water, it would run into the container you're trying to get the water into and run down the back of the dispenser. So, I had to call Hotshot again. They came back again and said that it wasn't connected right. They took the ice part out and there was ice inside the freezer. They took big blocks of ice out and I asked if the person who came last time didn't know to do that. He said no and they took big chunks of ice out and put the freezer back together and it worked. They were gone for about five days and the water started running down the back again. So I had to call again.
Each time, Hotshot sent somebody different out. This time, the people came out and they took it loose and said that they didn't put the water spout in the right place so that all of it would run. I just wanted it to be fixed and they did. The guy did something and after he finished, it started running like it should. But I noticed that once you stop running the water, it still runs for minutes. He said that it was because it's right there. I just haven't called back.
Every time I called American Home Shield, the recording comes on telling you to go online and fill out a request. You don't talk to anybody. You have to call in, you put in the information and pay $100 but you never talk to anyone at AHS. When they finally send somebody out, you have to keep emailing them to get anything done. If I've done it one time and I'm still calling you about the same thing, three times more, I ought to be able to talk to somebody. AHS doesn't tell the people at Hotshot. They tell you to call AHS and then, they tell you when you call them that it's still under warranty. That’s well and good but I have to keep calling about the same thing.
I called the contractor the first time and they came out and fixed one thing but they didn't even look at the other thing. They just said I needed a filter but they didn't look to see if the filter was bad. He never even opened the door to the refrigerator to see what condition the filter was in. You can't go to Sears and get a filter so I had to call them and order it because they aren't open. So they sent it out, which took a few weeks. It took some time, it came and we put it in. But it’s still doing the same thing. So when I called them back, they told me that I would have to call American Home Shield.
I've about five seconds from canceling AHS and going somewhere else because I don't see why I should pay them 50 plus dollars every month and have to call five times to get something repaired on the same refrigerator. I called them and they asked me if I'd ever called them about anything else, and I had. I called them about my standalone upright freezer and they told me they didn't repair those. So I ended up throwing it away because it wasn't working.

He said he was going to submit everything to American Home Shield and they would be reaching out to me on either giving us a check for the amount to buy a refrigerator of the same caliber or to help us select that model and get it delivered. But it has been two weeks so I've reached out to him four times and he was very surprised that I haven't gotten a phone call. Maybe the people at American Home Shield are really busy. But we need to get that expedited because nothing is still working on the refrigerator. My wife has been without a properly working machine for a long time now. The whole house fan started to malfunction so we had to get it fixed. The technician from Jets Electrical came out. He looked around and he left. However, they ordered the wrong motor. When they went to change it, they found out that so they had to reorder a new one which came in about a week later as it was coming from out of state. They came in, put the new motor in, and it was running great after that. I like having coverage with American Home Shield but with the COVID, it takes so long to get in there. They may need some people inside that need to be a little bit more knowledgeable about what a person is talking about. Maybe ask more questions because I remember I was very clear on my claim 'cause I wrote everything down. They sent an air conditioning guy out the first time and we specifically said that it was the whole house fan. But other than that, they get things done.

They told me I have a problem at the bottom. They snaked it and everything was fine. Then, another company called and said they wanna schedule for a second opinion. I have three homes with American Home Shield and the claims submission is fine because you can do it online. I sent out a request on July 14th to have the air conditioning fixed. I did that online, which was easy but I still have not had a contractor come out. So, I’ve been trying to call and I couldn't check with them. You are on hold an hour and 15 minutes till you get a representative. When I talked to one, I said that nobody has come out here and she said that she would find out and call me back. But they don’t call you back. So, there is no personal service whatsoever. If you can handle it online, they’re great. AHS have been very good as far as fixing things. It’s just you can’t get a hold of anybody to talk to them at all. They need to answer the phone.
I got the contractor assigned to me today and so I called him. He couldn’t come out today and it will be tomorrow. Hopefully he shows up. I don’t know anything about this contractor but if he doesn’t show up, then that’s another hour and a half phone call to try to get through to let AHS know. I had an issue with the washer this year alone and the contractor never showed up. He was supposed to be here on a Tuesday and I took off work so he could come. It was frustrating that I couldn’t get through to American Home Shield to let them know. On the other hand, the contractors that I’ve had have been good. I had a clog in my toilet and septic line, and Feezell was awesome. They came out that day and were very professional.

A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came on behalf of American Home Shield for our claim regarding our AC unit. The tech was really nice and fast. He didn't fix it the first time but he fixed it the second time. Sometimes, the service I get from AHS is great but sometimes it's not. There have been times when things are not fixed or there have been multiple charges. Talking to a lot of people at customer service gets a little laborsome. Half the time, what they repaired breaks again and the techs come back to refix it. It would be great if things are one and done. Still, I like that with AHS, we aren't responsible for huge purchases out of pocket.

One of the AC units in our house was on and it was blowing hot air. The contractor ended up coming out two days in a row. They made a fix the first day and it was blowing cold air again. Then, it started blowing hot air intermittently. So, I called them back. I went directly to them because I had talked to people there and they came back the same day that I called them. They were able to get it fixed permanently and everything's working properly now. We’ve been with American Home Shield for four years and everything has been good in terms of our policy. We've been happy. We had a couple of issues and we were able to get them resolved very inexpensively. A problem with that same air conditioning unit was the reason we got them because it cost us a few thousand dollars to get fixed right after we bought the house.

The last 2 technicians for the air conditioner that wasn't working properly were top-notch. The first one sucked. He made the experience awful. When I called American Home Shield initially, the first guy came out. He looked at the air conditioner and said the air conditioner compressor was gone. He did something with the air conditioner and said that they didn't have the part in so he was gonna have to order it. That meant I was going all the way through the weekend with no air conditioning. I wound up taking care of business with that.
I called Morris-Jenkins out. They came to my house and charged me $1,000. They put two parts on my air conditioner and told me that the technician unhooked my compressor. He rehooked it up and said the compressor was not bad. He also told me that there was a leak. He went and looked in the attic and told me that the condenser was leaking. He said it was a small leak so he'd charge it up. I got air conditioning 'til a guy came.
A new tech looked at it and said the compressor was good. It was the condenser. He had to order the new condenser and they sent the compressor back. That was a whole another week. I would have been down over two weeks dealing with the first guy. During the third visit, they put a condenser and those guys did an excellent job. I had no more problem with that air conditioning unit. But when they charged me for the freon, I wanted to ask American Home Shield if they overcharged me 'cause I think I get a credit for so many dollars per pound. I came out of pocket of $300 for it.

The electrician that came out to work on the Whirlpool tub found the problem in the control panel that made the tub work. The problem is the control panel itself doesn't work. You have to take the face off it and stick your finger in there to operate the Whirlpool tub still. He had said that he was going to deal with American Home Shield and order one of those and he has not. I've tried to reach out to American Home Shield about it but I haven't gotten any response. Also, it takes forever to try to call somebody on the phone when submitting a claim. The contractor that fixed the icemaker was really good though.

In a couple of days, someone from Legum's Heating and Cooling came out to put my compressor in. Before Legum was assigned to me, Danny came. All the technicians who were ever sent out gave excellent service and explained to me what was wrong with my unit, what needed to be done, and why they were doing what they were doing. American Home Shield is simple to use. I've had them quite a while and they work pretty good. I’ve had a garbage disposal replaced and a hot water heater replaced twice. I’ve also had two or three of the pumps on the pool replaced over the years. My daughter's got AHS too and a couple of times she's had them come out, her copay was like $81 because of the taxes. I guess it's an option in Texas that they could charge taxes. I don't understand that and it didn't make sense to me. It should be the flat service fee and that's it. There should not have been a tax on labor. I've never had taxes charged. I noticed that my $75 copay has always been the same.

Here is an authentic review of AHS for a change. This is the absolute slowest and most expensive way to protect your home from normal maintenance costs. If your air conditioner breaks, be prepared to immediately pay $75 to wait 8 days for your contractor to come diagnosis the issue. If the issue can be fixed on the spot, you got lucky. And you should consider driving directly to the nearest casino before renewing any AHS contract. If AHS needs to order parts, you can be rest-assured they will order them from the cheapest, slowest supplier to save them a few dimes. You will be left sweating with your pets through 90 degree weeks while AHS lethargically (in my opinion, intentionally) delays "Authorizing" your replacement parts and labor.
All without contacting you once to explain what's going on. You will soon think you are near the end of your AHS-sponsored home sauna, when they finally send you a detailed 3 sentence email stating that your repair has been miraculously "Completed." Just go check on their repair portal, perfect "Completed." Then reality sets in...The contractor didn't actually complete the repair yet. Now you need to contact AHS customer service by phone, which requires a minimum 20 minute hold time before someone will answer. They will explain that someone should have contacted you to disclose that there were "Denials" that were not covered with your service request, without apologizing for their neglect to inform you the customer. You will need to pay $900+ more to complete the repair.
If you agree to pay that, then they will finally schedule the repair and actually order your parts. But it may take a few more weeks before the compressor part will be available for the contractor to install. Resulting in multiple status-check phone calls to AHS customer service. With almost every call still prefaced with the 20 minute hold time requirement, they will eventually tell you the part has finally arrived and now you can call the contractor to truly schedule your repair yourself. To be completely fair, one time I was offered the opportunity for a call back through their phone system, and this did work. But why this isn't an option for every call is unknown to me.
This company is not transparent. This company is not honest. AHS have intentionally incomplete customer management processes that leave customers blind to the repair timeline. They fail to deliver on their home protection promise by leaving the customer to pay for a significant portion of the repair, even after all the phone calls and hassle. Many realty companies tack this 1 year AHS warranty on the sale of older homes as a placebo "peace of mind" to get you to make an offer. Gamble with them for 1 year, and then be sure to make a smart consumer decision and reject all attempts at a renewal they throw at you.
This company's business model consists of sleazy home repair statistics, intentional customer-service delays, and cheap contractors to prey on uninformed homeowners. I truly hope I am one of the few customers with this poor of an experience with AHS...but I doubt it. And just so you know. My air conditioner is finally "scheduled" to be repaired tomorrow, 07/13/2020. Only 35 days after I put in my service request. Thank you for your unrivaled service AHS!

The AC was not cooling like it should. It was set on 72 and it kept being like 79. I thought maybe somebody could come out that's why I called AHS. After about 10 times of calling, I talked to someone who sounded like he was in another country and he didn't understand English. Then the guy from Metro Air Services came out. He wasn't professional because he didn't act like he came to do any work. I told him to take his shoes off. He wasn't ugly but he didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He was just somebody who got a job. I asked him how long he was doing. He said that he didn't have to come upstairs and go in the attic.
Finally, he came upstairs but he never went in the attic. He looked at the air conditioner and did a lot of talking. He appeared to be a lazy man. I called somebody else. I wouldn't have him back. I'm not happy with American Home Shield. That was the first time we used them. We called them out 'cause we paid for it to see if anything is going on. We have a warranty and this stuff is not clear when we signed up with them. If we call to fix an appliance we have $100 to pay each time.
AHS constantly advertises on TV. I thought my sister has them although I didn't check with her before I signed up. I think they have people who sign up and these people are not working in the customer's interest, they're working in the warranty company interest. The guy told me he was doing it for 11 years. I don't believe that. I think he was doing something else that didn't require him to pushing a pin and that he was out of a job.

American Home Shield is good but $75 every time their contractors come out kinda gets to us real hard because I'm unemployed.
Recently, Quick Fix came out and fixed the problem. My freezer stopped freezing and I was just having cold air in my freezer. They went behind the back of my freezer and saw that there was a connection that was missing in the back. They came back 2 days later, repaired it, and it's been working ever since. They were good. They called and let us know they'd be here to fix it in 2 days 'cause they had to get a part. I would use them again. The person that came one-time to help us went above and beyond and we appreciate that. He told us what to do with our sink. We are a lot younger so we couldn't do what he recommended. A guy and a young lady came out on a Saturday night and he went in and looked at my unit. He only touched one of the pipes on the outside of the unit. Then he went outside and he checked something out there. He came back in and he said to take a picture of the outside of the unit that was inside my utility room. And he said it was a coil that needed to be replaced because I had two leaks.
I asked how much it was gonna cost me and the guy said that it was gonna run me about $1,000. He said that he would email the estimate on Sunday and then we would go from there. But he didn't do it until Monday. When I called back Monday evening, he wanted me to email a copy of my warranty to my unit because it was only seven years old, so it was still under warranty. We also had set up a date and time for him to come out. I had to pay $190, so I called and their rep said that was because my unit was in a closet. I told her that it was in a utility room and not a closet. So then she said that she was gonna get the technician to call me back.
The tech never called back. So I called again. The rep was a very nice young lady. I asked what was going on because the tech was not returning my call. Then the rep said that she would call the technician again and tell him to call me. He never did. So I called American Home Shield and told them that I needed another company because their technician was not calling me back. The AHS rep, Jay, checked it for me. I told him that if I would have to go to another company, I would. Then he told me to calm down and said that if I did that, I would have to come out-of-pocket twice with it. Then he said that he could send me another technician and they would be out here on June 20, between 8:00 and 4:00.
I got up early to do what I had to do. Then 4:00 o'clock came and I didn't hear from anybody. I called and a young man answered. He said that he was running behind but he would be here. When he came, before he did anything to my unit, he said that he was gonna tell me what he was gonna do and we would go from there. They wanted to reroute something on my unit. He also said that it was up to me if I wanted to pay the $190 to do it. I told them that nobody was going to reroute anything. He said that it was fine. He could go on to put the coil in, put the freon in, and he would be done. He was just as nice as he could be. He told me everything he was going to do. He did what he had to do. He checked everything before he left, I wrote him a check, and everything was fine.
The young man that came before him didn't know what he was talking about. He didn't want to even talk to me after I questioned why was I paying the $190. I wouldn't mind paying the money if he had told me exactly what he needed to do. The unit is functioning well now. It gets cold in here some days but I can deal with it. I've had American Home Shield for 6 years and I've never had an issue like this. They allotted me $150 for fans. I went out and bought the fans. Now I'm having issues with getting my money back and it has been a month. I just want to know when a date will be available where the check will be sent out but nobody can tell me.

We had a claim regarding our AC unit and it did not go well. I've got a two-ton air conditioner that supplies air to my add-on to my house, which is a den and a bathroom. It went out and they condemned it. That was earlier in the year. They said it had a leak in it. I've only been in this home 3 years. It had a new coil put in right before I moved in. It was supposed to have a warranty. They told me 10 years at first then they said when it changed ownership, it went to 5 years. It should have 2 years left on it. I was trying to trace it down through Trane to get the warranty to cover it because American Home Shield told me it would cost $1,477.50. I'm still chasing that particular thing down. I don't think it's fair for me to have to pay that when I've already paid half for one that should still be working.
They say it's in the paperwork, but I didn't feel like it was fair that they would not let Greenway, or so Greenway told me, follow up on the warranty for me and just have me pay for their work. Greenway came out and serviced my five-ton unit which cools most of the house and found that it needed one or two small things done to it, which they did. But they also said I had a leak and supposedly, they fixed it after two or three visits. But the last time, they sent out two young men the first two times. The first one didn't get it and he wasn't very pleasant. The second one was pleasant, but he missed something. They said it was ready to go, it was all done, and I paid like $400-something for freon that had leaked out. This young man left, and the next thing I know, it was not working. I called him back out and they were supposed to fix that. All the freon leaked out and they wanted me to pay another $100 for each pound of freon that had leaked out.
I'm not happy about certain things with American Home Shield but not all of it. A lot of it's been pleasant, but a lot of it has not. Recently, I've been calling people. A lady called me and said, "You could cash out on the two-ton that operates your add-ons 'cause it was condemned." I needed a new unit. From Greenway's estimates it was in the middle of $6,000. I would have to make payments and get a loan in order to do that so I'm trying to hold off and not do that.
I wanted to go ahead and get the money so whatever I decided to do with that air conditioning unit, I would have the money in my hand, or I could use it. If I couldn't get the warranty to cover my coil upstairs, I was gonna use that money towards that coil. I called 2 other people after that lady to try to cash out. I called around 4:00 and the guy that finally said he had to put me through to cash out couldn't do it. After he reviewed my whole list of things, he said they closed at 6 o'clock. The next time I called, I was on there for four and a half hours. That was 2 days ago. I got disconnected twice. The next person told me it wasn't 550, he said it would be like 490. When I talked to that last lady, she said 450. No one knew the right amount.

Going through American Home Shield for claims is a pretty easy process. The challenge is describing my problem based on the categories that are offered. The downside is that I have to wait for service. When I put my request in, somebody would contact me within 24 hours and try to schedule service within 48 hours. We had our air conditioner go out one time here in Texas and it was not ideal for us to have to wait three days to get our unit fixed. Still, paying $75 copay rather than paying the full price when my heat pump or air conditioner goes out completely makes it easier to rationalize waiting 'cause of the money that is saved.
In the past, I had issues with one of their contractors though. Pipe Down Plumbing came the year before last for a couple of things. The tech from there wasn't very knowledgeable and he was rude. Still, most of AHS's contractors have been solid. Most recently, American Home Shield sent Watertight Pool & Spa for our pool booster pump issue. The first time they came, they found that the capacitor was shot and so the motor wasn't starting. They fixed that but then within a couple of weeks, the motors froze up. They came back under a follow-up for the same work item and replaced the motor. In the times when I've needed their warranty, it has been pretty good.

The dishwasher wasn't washing the dishes. The dishes would remain dirty and full of residue from the dishwashing liquid so we'd have to rewash the whole thing by hands. Then the washer stopped washing. The technician had to order a part so we had to wait for it to come in. They came back right away after they got the part and did what they said they were gonna do. The washing machine is good but the dishwasher still is not washing but and we can't get through to American Home Shield. We're on hold for hours on there and nobody ever freaking picks up. When I put my claim in the first time, I ended up not talking to anybody because I was on hold for 2 hours and I just gave up and filed it online. The contractor responds right away but to get customer service is not in the cards. They don't respond. It was eternal hold with the music. We've been clients for 14 years but if I had my option to switch, I would switch to another home warranty company.

Our garbage disposal was turning on, but it wouldn't grind. There was a little bit of water under the sink. I submitted a claim online to AHS. The website was really friendly. It was easier than trying to call them on the 800 number. I got a phone call from the plumber the next day. They came out that same day. They put in a whole new garbage disposal. We only have one drain. We have a farmer’s sink in the kitchen, so it was draining very slow. If they hadn't come out, it would have affected the whole daily use in the kitchen. The service of the contractor was excellent. They were very professional and very courteous. AHS was also very professional and efficient. The turnaround time was more than what I expected, 'cause I've had issues in the past, and the turnaround was really good.

American Home Shield has been great and I am very pleased with them. They're receptive. When I call them, they would call me back and they are attentive to me. During the COVID, it was a little hard getting to them. But they did call back and they properly had somebody contact us and get on board. The only thing I really had to call them about was regarding a hot water tank.
Legacy 4 was my contractor and their tech came out and did something. The water got in there and he fixed it. But within a week, it wouldn't light up. I called him back again and it got to the point where he said it looked like I got a bad tank. The whole thing has been about two weeks now. One morning I called up American Home Shield and it was hard to get them. I left a message and I let them know what was going on. If they called back, I probably missed it. Sometimes I’m working from home and sometimes I'm at my normal job. Fast forward and the guy called me about 15 minutes ago. He'll be out here and he's gonna take that tank out and go get another one. He'll bring it in and put it in.
This guy was cool. American Home Shield sent another company before they sent this guy. The one they sent before walked in the door trying to sell me additional services. He was telling me all this stuff and how things weren’t up to code. I told him that I just had a VA guy come out. We were gonna sell the house so I know everything is up to code. He then looked at the hot water tank and told me that American Home Shield was only gonna cover a certain amount so there was gonna be another $876 that I was gonna pay out-of-pocket.
He said they were probably not gonna prove it because it looked like there was some damage to my hot water tank. I told him that the tank has been here for 19 years. I asked what the damage was. He said, "I'll come back out for $1,200 dollars. I'll do everything.” I told the lady when I called American Home Shield what went on. It was at night and she was like a receptionist. They sent this other company. They just said like American Home Shield said. I don't pay anything and if anything, my charge will be $100. But that’s for that little show-up fee. And I didn't have to pay for anything else and since then. And if that tank goes out, I’ll call American Home Shield again and let them know. As far as American Home Shield, I'm very satisfied with them and I'm glad we got with the company.

I called American Home Shield regarding a leak caused by rust that had built up in my guest bathroom faucet. Their reps said High Priority Plumbing and service would be calling me soon after to schedule an appointment. They called and came and initially, I thought they did a great job. However, things were not completed to my satisfaction. Two days later, things were leaking again. I called Home Shield and they set me up another appointment. High Priority immediately responded and set a tech out.
The second tech was terrible. He was rude and he lied. He told me one thing and told High Priority something different. Still, High Priority was very responsive. They asked me to send them a video of the problem since the tech had told them everything was fine. When I sent the video and they saw everything wasn't fine, they sent a third tech back out. The third guy fixed things. He cleaned off the rust and the diverter of my faucet was able to pop all the way out. If the second tech spent a little more time on my faucet instead of just turning it on, then he would have been able to stop the leak. The third tech was really nice and he explained everything.

Our freezer wasn't keeping cool. I had gotten an H1 error on the freezer side. I called American Home Shield and they connected me with Cooper Appliances. The guy from Cooper came out and said that there was one part that was not working right. He ordered it and about five days later, he came out and fixed the part. Three days later, I went to get some water from the refrigerator. We have one of those water dispensing refrigerators along with the ice and the water wouldn't come out so I called American Home Shield right then and there. I told them I got another problem with the refrigerator and then they connected me with Cooper Appliances. Cooper Appliances came out with a different tech. He tested a bunch of stuff, looked at it, and determined that three to four parts needed to be ordered for this repair.
I called them yesterday regarding the air conditioner and waited for over an hour. Apparently, from what I understand, they're behind with authorizing parts for dealers. There were very few people in the authorization department and things are starting to get backed up with approving parts. Then I got a call from Cooper this morning to give me an update on their troubles getting through to American Home Shield and getting somebody on the phone. I told them what happened on my call to AHS.
I also had to call on a Friday night as our air conditioner was running into some problems. AHS was right upfront with the message, "Your wait time is greater than an hour." I was okay with that because it was about air conditioning. We live down here in Florida and it's summertime. I waited probably an hour and 10 minutes then they picked up. I was put through to an agent and put in a request.
Cooper's done a good job. I've also been in contact with a company out of Tampa called Ace Heating & Cooling. They're working hard on my air. As a matter of fact, I had to have them back out today for a second time. Overall, I'm happy with American Home Shield. They're great. I just wish that they have more agents available during peak times to take our phone calls so that the wait times aren't extraordinary long.

For companies that provide home warranties, American Home Shield has been rated the highest. It's the contractor that's the issue. Service Mechanical of Tidewater came out for our AC unit. However, they still haven't resolved the issue. They are impossible to get in touch with. So their phone number would either ring endlessly or it would ring for between one and a half and two minutes because I've timed it and then it would beep and disconnect me. I've tried leaving a message but it would still disconnect. Then sometimes, it's busy. They also have no website and they have no email. So the only way I've been able to get in touch with them is through American Home Shield. The communication has been non-existent.
They told me on July 7th, that there was a leak in the evaporator coil and that they would need to get authorization from American Home Shield before they could move forward with the repair. Then I heard nothing. I tried to call them. I couldn't get in touch with them. I called American Home Shield. They said that the contractor had 48 hours to file their report. 48 hours came in. That would have been Friday morning. Nothing happened on Friday, nothing happened the 11th which is Saturday or the 12th of July. It was around the 13th that I was assigned to Mary from American Home Shield.
She was able to get in touch with them last Wednesday, where they stated that it was under warranty with Trane, so that they had ordered the part. They sent her a copy of something that says that this was requested for the 18th. Neither I nor American Home Shield has heard anything back from them on the status of the arrival of the part.
AHS said that because this is filed under the warranty, if I want a different contractor, then they have to let Service Mechanical of Tidewater complete the repair. Because they are the ones that filed with Trane under our warranty. If we wanna go our own route, we would get $260, which the part itself, the requisition, they showed us that they ordered the part for over $700. It wouldn't make any financial sense. But it's like the not knowing is killing us.
The first time that Service Mechanical came out, they told me on a Saturday morning that they didn't have an appointment till Monday morning, which was perfectly acceptable. Then they called me Sunday morning at 9 AM and said, "We can have somebody there in 45 minutes." I said, "Oh, that will be great." So they came out and they said, "Oh, you're just low on refrigerant." They put refrigerant in and it was wonderful.
The second time I called them eight days later, when it stopped working again, they did the same thing where, "We'll send somebody out in a day or two." Then they called and said, "We can get somebody there in half an hour." I was like, "Great." So now, I'm stuck where if I could go somewhere else for the weekend and be in air conditioning, I would. But I'm afraid if I do that, they're gonna unexpectedly call and say, "The part's here. We'll be there in half an hour." I would be really devastated if I wasn't able to be there to get it fixed at this point.
I will say to anybody that they get a home warranty because they don't know if they can cover unexpected expenses. The actual process for approval has been very good through American Home Shield. It's just been the contractor. But I had a couple occasions where I had to wait on hold for an hour to get through to American Home Shield. One time, I got disconnected after an hour. Then I called back and left the callback number but nobody ever called. So that was some hiccup in the system. But since this has been escalated to Mary, AHS has done everything they could do and can't help having bad contractors is a lesson learned for next time.
Thanks for sharing that feedback. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

There's a motor in the washer, which sucks the water out and that was not working. Initially, I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they took forever to send somebody. Then the guy who came over didn't even open the washer or do anything and filed a report. Two weeks later, there was no response from American Home Shield. So, I called them and asked them why there were no next steps. They said the technician who came over from Accord Appliances filed a report that it was because of we damaged the washer. I don't know how he can look inside the washer without even opening the washer.
We asked American Home Shield to give us another opinion. They sent Jea's Appliances and this guy came over and within 15 minutes the washer is working. He said, "The motor was gone. You have a 10-year-old washer, so the motor doesn't work anymore. There is no physical damage." So, he just came and replaced it. I'm thinking of canceling American Home Shield because this is the fourth time they have done that to me. I'm very dissatisfied. They need to get rid of some of their contractors because they are giving them wrong information, and the customer is getting hurt by it. We are gonna change to First American Home Warranty now.

The contractor was awesome. He came out in about 40 minutes and was really quick, nice, and professional. Everything's working really well with all the locks. However, the people for the current claim with the washer are horrible. It's been a nightmare. I have not had a working washer since June 24th. The washer stopped spinning. I called American Home Shield and they said they had this contractor but they couldn't get here till a specific day. I asked if they could get whoever could get here soonest but that was a huge mistake. I've been working with Appliance Tech and they suck. They came out and the guy said I needed the most expensive part. It smelled like burning rubber and I thought the thing he just needed was the belt. He said I needed a power console board. He said, “I'll go to the store and I'll get it, and I’ll come tomorrow.” They didn't come so I called them, and I called them, and I called them. They said they were on their way but when I called them again, they said they never said that.
The part came and the guy was here for like 10 minutes, put the part in then said it was done. I asked, “Do you wanna test it and see if it’s good?” He said it was fine then left. I started it up but it didn't work so then I called them back ‘cause they have a 30-day warranty on their work. The Fourth of July holiday happened and we were out of town for a few days. That pulled everything down as well. They made me call American Home Shield before they came out. They said I had to reopen the claim. I did that and they still haven't come. They’re supposedly gonna show up on Thursday. In the meantime, I have my laundry hand washed and drying on a chain-linked fence.

I own this house. This house is 29 years old. I use this house as a summer home. I had American Home Shield from that time, paying them $45 a month. It went up but I don't care. I know everything goes up. At this moment, I was paying $60. But every time, in all those years that I had with them, the only thing that they have ever changed in this house is a refrigerator, after so many years, paying so much money. I always had a fight with them to do something.
I got sick and I called them. I told them, "The only thing I'm gonna request from you people is please put on my chart a red flag that if I call and I say my air conditioner is giving me trouble, I need someone here immediately and as fast as you can. Any other product in the house, I don't mind waiting for. Because I had a pacemaker put in, I have three stents in my heart and I suffer with COPD, so I need my aircon."
Every time I called them, I used to have a fight. Till one day, I called South Cooling and they came in no time. So anytime I had any problems with my air condition, I would tell American Home Shield, "Call South Cooling." Right away, they will call them and Olivia will call me back from South Cooling. "Someone will be there in two hours or an hour and a half." They're very wonderful. They come on time. They do what they have to do. They show me everything that they're doing step-by-step. When I have a fight with AHS to get somebody to come and fix anything, I will tell them, "Get me South Cooling 'cause they know what they're doing."
But two weeks ago, I got up, got to the kitchen to get me a cup of water. I turned the faucet on and for some reason, the water wouldn't stop running. So I went right away and I picked up the phone to call American Home Shield because I couldn't bend over to get the thing under the sink turned off. I called my nephew, he tried, but he couldn't get it. I said, "Don't make it any worse. I'm on the phone trying to get American Home Shield," which they have the habit, but it takes them 45 minutes to an hour to pick up that phone. But I didn't wait that long. I went and I called Roto-Rooter plumber to come and fix it.
When they fixed it, I called American Home Shield. I said, "I had a problem. I had to have them come here." I explained everything to them. I said, "I've been calling you people and you people haven't answered." I said, "Right now, I've been on the phone with American Home Shield, waiting for y'all to answer me for 45 minutes. My question to you, Miss, I want an answer, yes or no. If I mail this bill into American Home Shield, after being with you people for so many years, are y'all gonna reimburse me my money?" She said, "Oh, do you know that you had to call us first?" I said, "How am I gonna get you when you won't even answer the phone? This time, it's 45 minutes. Do you want me to keep the water running?"
I said, "Now, I'm gonna repeat my question. Will you people pay this bill that I have in front of me? Yes or no?" She said, "I can't answer that because you know you were supposed to..." I said, "Miss, you're making me mad, and if my pressure goes up and something happened to me, I'm gonna sue you. If you can't help me, give me a supervisor." She said there were no supervisors right now. I said, "Okay, you write down on a piece of paper a memo that, I want to speak to a supervisor for the problem I had with the plumber. All I want is a yes or no answer when they call me." That was on a Sunday.
Monday came, nobody called me. Tuesday, I had to call them and I was on the phone for 20 minutes waiting for them. So when they answered, I said, "About the plumbing, why didn't the supervisor call me?" She said, "What? No supervisor called you?" I said, "What department it is to cancel my agreement with you people?" She said, "Please don't do that. You've been a member of ours for so many years. Let's see what we can do for you." I said, "You know what you can do for me? Give me the department that cancels the agreement." And I canceled it. I went to another company, right then and there. If anyone ever tells me they're gonna join American Home Shield, I'll tell them, "Don't do it." They're a piece of crap. After 20 years, I found that out. I got sick of them.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

I like the way Home Shield set it up to where when I go on to file a claim, I can give them my $75 right then and there and I don’t have to do it when the service provider comes out and do checks and whatnot, and just do everything online. I really liked that change they made over the last year. My biggest surprise was when the water heater blew a leak. That was a little time consuming. It took the gentleman a couple of days for him to get out here. So, I had to have all the water off in the house. That was the only long delay that I ever had. That was done within three days.
On another claim, Service Mechanical of Tidewater's tech flushed out the line. He thought that was it. And it seemed to work briefly, but it started backing up water again. I called him. I went through Home Shield again and they sent the same guy back out the same day, and he took the full faceplate off and cleaned out all gunk at the bottom of the faceplate. The AC has worked ever since. It was handled very well. I recommend Home Shield. Anybody here buying a home, I told them they should get a Home Shield warranty.

He came on the day within the timeline that he said that they were gonna be here, and he got right to work. He was very friendly and asked me if I had any questions. He was very informative and showed me what the problem was. He showed me the damaged part and the new part that was being put in. He gave me a few tips and hints about my dishwasher. He cleaned up, had a protective covering on his shoes, and worked right there. He was saying that if anything happens in the next 90 days to give them another call. I really like that.
We've been with American Home Shield for some years and I'm delighted that we have that monthly service. The price is going up but when I think about one or two repairs a year, what that covers and what our out- of-pocket cost is, it gives me a peace of mind. Sometimes you can't price that out in dollars and cents when you have a kind of warranty that's like that.
I really like how the deductible is paid. That is really cool. You don't have to worry whether or not that was done. The only thing that I haven't been able to do is to navigate the online service information. I just have to get my daughter to come and help me become familiar and comfortable with that. As far as the service goes, my husband and I have been pretty satisfied. We've made recommendations to other people. I had claims with Home Shield for the dryer and the fridge. The tech from Axus fixed the dryer and it was no problem. Then, he said the fridge needed a part and he could fix it but he would get the okay to do it through Home Shield. They denied it because they said that it was a recall item. The tech said to call Samsung and see about the recall because he couldn't do anything until I get that taken care of. I called Samsung and they said there was no recall so I have to go back to Home Shield and see if they would fix it. At that time, we had been having that problem for a while with the fridge. It was having ice issues and it was over freezing and making this weird loud noise.
I called Home Shield back and they said I would have to do a new order and do a whole new thing. I wanted the same guy that was here before. He knew the new problem, he had experience with it, and he said he could fix it. Also, he looked pretty confident and he did a great job with the dryer. But they assigned me a new contractor and then I had to pay another copay. I asked them why I had to pay another copay because the original issue was denied because it's not under a recall. Technically, Home Shield had to fix it and the rep said I was right. She redid my whole thing. I had made that $100 dollar payment and they gave me a refund, which was nice.
Then, they called the same guy and had it all set up for him to come back and finish. He said that he needed to order a part and he may have already ordered the part. Everything worked out great and he fixed it. The thing though is that the fridge is still making noise so he has to come back and do that. Once you get ahold of them, Home Shield is great. It was almost an hour wait before I was able to get someone to answer the phone. But they took care of the issue so I was really happy with that. I've had other home warranties and so far, I've been really happy with American Home Shield.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I had an air conditioner problem so American Home Shield sent somebody out. The man was very rude. He said that somebody has stolen parts off my unit which was not true. I know it’s not missing because it’s inside the house in my master bedroom. I have alarm system and when I leave, I turn it on. So if anybody breaks in my house, I'm gonna be notified. He said he could fix it for $320 to which I said no. I called out another company and they fixed it for $125. I asked them if any parts were missing and they said no.
I called American Home Shield to complain about the contractor and I told them I had to pay a whole another company to come out and fix my unit. They said there was nothing they could do because I didn’t use their contractor. I told them, “Why would I use your contractor when a contractor you already sent out is trying to dupe me out of money that I don’t even have?” Still they said there was nothing they could do. I told them to let me speak to their Retention Department because I was gonna cancel the whole contract. I didn’t wanna be with them anymore. When I talked to them, the guy said they'd pay me my $75 back. I said I needed an electrician to come out for my socket. He said they'd use that $75 towards that.
The electrician that came out was great. He was professional. However, I received a bill in the mail for the $75 so I called American Home Shield. They were on hold for two hours. They said they saw it in the system and they would take care of it. Every time I call American Home Shield, I have to be on hold. I could start early in the morning and it’s still a long hold. I was asking them is there any way we can get to them quicker and there is no other way.

We had 2 claims about 2 separate AC units. For the first claim, the issue was it was tripping the breaker. It would stop then the breaker would be tripped. My wife called the claim in but she was on the phone for a solid 45 minutes. We were told the contractor would contact us that day and they contacted us the next day. He was a good dude. He told us exactly what the issue was so that led us to a subsequent claim. He showed my wife that there was nothing wrong functionally with that AC unit and if there was an issue, it had to be with the box. It was a positive experience.

I called AHS and submitted a claim because our fridge was not cooling the bottom unit. This had happened before where the fan got some moisture and froze up. The seal was also not level, and we think that was a problem, so the contractors went ahead and fixed the seal. The contractors were there on time and they were very professional and timely. They respected the social distancing guidelines that are going on right now. They explained to me what they were doing. So far, I haven't had any problems. I'm very satisfied with the high level of service that I received on the three claims I've made with AHS in the last two years. They have sent very professional and knowledgeable contractors to handle my claim.

I had had a claim before Everest Air & Appliance Repair came out for the same appliance. Who came out the first time didn't fix it correctly. I didn't notice it until it was too late. It was over 60 days. So then I called again and they said, "Oh, it's too late. You have to call your insurance again." Then I called American Home Shield and I had to pay again. I had to pay twice to have the fridge fixed. I wasn't too happy with that. The first people that they sent out to me didn't fix it properly and they also didn't even put the back on the refrigerator. They left it just sitting on the side of the refrigerator. Also, they don't go on my roof when I have a plumbing problem. My cleanout is on the roof and they don't go up there. I'm not too happy with that as well. With AHS, it's like, "We cover plumbing, but not if we have to go on the roof." So that kinda sucks.

I didn't have hot water and I filed a claim with Home Shield. I called on a Wednesday and Sundance Services wasn't going to be able to get anybody in until the following Monday. I started calling around and I had my friend's husband come over and take a look at it. Then, I cancelled the appointment and whatever my friend's husband did didn't work long term. I had to call Sundance Services back again and fortunately, they were able to get me in on Friday morning, which was a much better timeline.
The guy came in and was here for 15 minutes. I thought that the problem is the thermocouple and he said that it wasn't. But it takes a super long time for my water heater to fill up with hot water. I'm good for a couple of days and then it gets lukewarm until it fills back up again and gets warm again. I still think that there's a thermocouple issue. But the guy was professional and nice. He said that if I have issues, I could call them and they would come back. The overall experience was okay. The companies have responded very quickly, come in, and fixed the problem. In that way, it's good but it would be kind of nice if American Home Shield could offer a couple of choices rather than listing just one supplier. Other than that, for what I've needed it, it's been really nice.

After purchasing our home, my wife wanted to make sure our locks were reset. When I first got my home warranty over the phone, the AHS rep whom I spoke with asked if I'd be interested in having my locks changed. I was told that it was fairly quick for their contractors to contact me and set up an appointment. But then, I got some communication from Home Shield stating that they were trying to locate somebody to conduct rekey service on our home so they were having difficulty finding somebody. Three weeks later, Home Shield sent Pop-A-Lock to our place and the techs who came were very fast. I ended up having them do 10 keyholes but they were in and out in 45 minutes. They gave us nine keys in total. Things worked really well and they were very professional. We enjoyed their service.

We’ve been in our house for a year and a half and American Home Shield was the warranty that was part of the deal that the seller had. We extended it and now, we’ll be in our second year contract with them. The online interface is good, especially utilizing it from my phone. We've had a number of issues and they've been able to send out someone, so overall it was okay. When our AC was leaking through the ceiling, American Home Shield scheduled Sirius to come and the claim went okay. We had Sirius over the weekend, which was fine ‘cause I was able to do a short term resolution so it didn't trip to the ceiling and destroy it completely. Also, the technician who came was really informative and good, and he resolved the issue. After that, we had another issue that was partially related, but they sent out another technician and there was no problem. It was good.

I called and left messages for them. So I called American Home Shield and told them, “Hey, the people who originally got the contract to do it didn't respond,” and American Home Shield, immediately that day, when we're on the phone, got the company that did come out and fix it. Service-all scheduled to come see me. They came early the next morning and took care of the problem. Since I’ve made American Home Shield aware of my issue, they immediately rectified the situation. Finally on 7/8/20 the A/C company called telling me I need $1242 for out of pocket. I cannot contact AHS find out why. I spent no less than 4 hrs. on hold. Finally talked to a live body. Was told unit was modified and the call was disconnected. I tried to call back to no avail, I went on my account for other ways to contact. I got different phone #`s that led to the same hold message. I have not even figured out how to cancel because all I got is a phone #. I live in the Arizona desert. It has been over 110 consistently. I been a customer for about 10 months now, had my monthly payment increase from $32 to $48 and I have never used it. I paid $125 for nothing. I am not a happy customer right now. I have ice chests in my kitchen and have spent a fortune on ice. Have been told by Sears repair they have ordered more parts for the fridge and hopefully it'll be fixed this time. No assistance from AHS. Other than to tell me to be patient and they have to go off of what the technician says about the fridge. Obviously the fridge is not repairable, as it still isn't fixed after numerous parts. Again, only assistance is to offer me a dorm refrigerator in the meantime. Large family with food in ice chests all over my kitchen. A dorm fridge will not solve my problem. VERY disappointed in AHS.

Then on 6/24 requested service again, this time when they came out they needed to "order a part" but closed the work order and posted a completed status on their website. An air conditioning can run you an arm and a leg if the wrong part is broken. The recent claim had to do with our outside AC unit. The blower fan stopped blowing. It would come on temporarily making a loud noise then it would shut off. I went through the system then I called back 'cause American Home Shield had assigned it to a different company. I had to switch it over to Ace 'cause we've dealt with them multiple times in the past. The other company has bad reviews on it, where Ace has much better reviews with customer satisfaction. The guy that came out was knowledgeable. Whenever American Home Shield sends somebody out, I ask them questions so I can get a better understanding of the stuff in my house that they're repairing and he was helpful and friendly. He resolved the issue because it's not making that noise and not shutting off anymore like it was.
I did have an issue in the past with American Home Shield. I had this ongoing issue that I had to get with my AC unit. It was a long story, but they didn't reimburse me back for the freon that was lost because of this. The issue wasn't resolved. Also, I'm set up for automatic monthly payments, but I don't get any notice from them. Getting it would keep my attention that I have a due date that they're going to be going in and taking out the money. But overall, things are fine with American Home Shield. But then one of the john's kept running and the guy came out and replaced the float valves in both toilets, which should have fixed it. Within a day, the float valve in one was hissing. It continued to fill. He came back out and said, "I think your pressure reducing valve might be off. Let's go check it." The pressure reducing valve is out so that needs to be replaced. They need to be authorized by American Home Shield to do that. It's either American Home Shield authorizes the pressure reducing valve to be replaced or they can send a plumber out here every 2 or 3 days for replacing inside of the toilet.

Realty Rekey came out. However, it took quite a while to get a hold of the company. But once I did, they were great. The technician that came out was wonderful. We also had More Plumbing and he was very communicative and very prompt. He was good. The other one that we had was Turner Electric. Our technician that came out, Brandon, was wonderful. He was helpful and kind. But the front office was absolutely horrible to communicate with. She would call every morning at 7:00, and that's not a time when we're up and going. I have my son sleeping, so I don't answer my phone that early. This went on for about a week. Good business time is anywhere from 8:00 to 8:00, those are decent hours. I would call her back at 9:00, and I would always leave a message, and then I'd get a call the next morning at 7:00 am.
Then, when I did get to speak with her, she was incredibly rude. Then, when I had to submit my claim for the recall, I also, at the same time, had to submit an additional claim for our dishwasher ‘cause it didn't have any power to the dishwasher. I never heard anything from her about that issue. I called and left a message. She didn't answer and didn’t call back. So I called again and she answered the phone. Right off the bat, she started saying, “I got your message. Yes, he's coming out to your house. Don't worry. We've already taken care of it.” So I did not like dealing with Turner Electric at all.
Every time we called American Home Shield, it would take so long. They had hung up and disconnected on us at 30 minutes almost every time. The website was much easier than trying to make phone calls. I had a couple of issues that we needed a recall on. I was hoping to speak with an actual representative to explain about my recall issue, but I wasn't able to do that. So I just went on the website and hope that I did it right, which turns out I did. But aside from those, we've had our issues resolved. The things that we've needed taken care of have been fixed. If anything does happen in the future with our home, I will absolutely be giving American Home Shield another call, or online.

The most recent call that I made to American Home Shield was to fix my refrigerator. Somebody came and he vacuumed the back of the coil and said, “I needed a new part.” He was supposed to get this part. The refrigerator was not working well. The bottom was freezing. The freezer wasn't freezing, but my meat container was freezing. I called again at American Home Shield and told them I wasn't happy with whatever was done. They said they'd send somebody else to look into it.
I was on the phone on hold for two hours before I could speak to somebody in customer service. Putting somebody on hold for two hours is unbelievable. Then I said I didn't want the same person coming back because I don't think he knew what he was doing. So after a couple of days, they got me somebody else from a different repair service, and he came and he fixed it. He said he had to replace a part. There was something in the back of the freezer there that needed to be replaced. He replaced the part and everything was fine. As far as the water coming out, he said the water wasn't coming out because the line was freezing. There was ice in the line because of the way our refrigerator was working. So it didn't need a part. It works fine now. He did a great job.

The AC wasn't blowing cold air and I called American Home Shield. I talked to a representative and they set up for an HVAC person to come out. The contractor was very thorough but they weren't able to fix the problem because it wasn't in their scope of practice. The unit wasn't getting electricity from the house and since they were HVAC, they weren't allowed to do anything beyond that. They could only work on the actual unit but they told me what the problem could be, what to do next, what the resolution could be and showed me a little more information about the HVAC unit itself as well as what I could do in the future to test it out myself. So, it was very informative.
The HVAC person told me that the potential problem could be a switch from the circuit breaker. So, that would be the first thing to check. I was able to replace the switch myself which resolved the issue. He said that he couldn't do it himself because he's not allowed to do it but he said that if there are any power issues, you start from the source. The switch was tripping so he thought it could potentially be that or it could be something worse. I didn't even have to call American Home Shield afterwards if I needed an electrician but they referred one, so whatever the issue, they were ahead of it. It was fixed so that helped.

The microwave was not heating properly. American Home Shield assigned the repair company right away, but it took over a week to get the parts and get the repair completed. So their speed of service is not the best, but they did get it done. As far as their claims process, I go right online and submit it. The difficulty is trying to call somebody. But for the most part, if you go online, everything's pretty quick and easy. The online system works well. The contractors they usually send out are usually small businesses, which is not a bad thing. I kinda like that idea. They're usually pretty responsive.
In February, my furnace had went out and it was cold. It was like getting in the minus 15. I had house guests. American Home Shield did authorize me to go outside of the contract to get a repair done that day and pay out of pocket and they'd reimburse me. The reimbursement process was a little hectic, but I did get reimbursed. It took me about two months. I submitted the paperwork, but they said they didn't get it. I resubmitted the paperwork. Then they said they didn't have the right paperwork. I said, "You got it. Pay me," and I got a check.

Our air conditioner had a clot in it which caused it to back up and water started coming through our hardwood floors. I submitted a claim online with AHS but I had so many questions and the website didn't answer them. I would have loved for them to have a chat feature where you talk to real person. We do it in the car industry all the time and it could mean the difference in a good customer experience versus a bad customer experience. It's also not really expensive. For every 15,000 that call in on the chat feature, it’s around 18 to $20,000 for a full year subscription. We went to it and we loved it.
For this claim, I'd rather speak to a person at AHS. With the water seeping through the floor, we were concerned. So, I called in and AHS said that they wouldn't cover the floors but they would cover the service to get the air conditioner fixed. Then, A-US Air Conditioning came out and they were so personable. I really appreciated them, especially since it was summer and they were swamped and busy. Since they came out, we've had no problem whatsoever with the AC. Other than that, I've been through two warranty companies since I've lived here, and I've only been here a year, and AHS by far has the best customer service. I fired our old warranty folks because we did not get this kind of treatment from them. I also put American Home Shield's name on our Nextdoor app, which is where all our neighborhood ask questions and I told them that this is who they got to go to for home warranties.

The dishwasher was running on its own and wouldn’t turn off. Then it smelled like something might be burning. I went on American Home Shield's website and filed a claim. It was a lot easier than calling. They sent Wright Appliance Service & Repair. They’re good. I like them. I got a piece that hasn't been fixed yet. They came out on Monday and they have to get a part.
I got AHS on one of my houses one time, and then I have rent houses and it really works well with my rent houses because my renters can call. I don't have to get in the middle of it. It takes so long to get somebody on the phone though. Also, I don’t want that I have to know all these passwords. It shouldn’t be that hard. I don't want another thing that I have to keep up with my contract. My contract numbers change every time when I renew it. I'm overall satisfied. And for me, having AHS is a good value. Being a landlord, it’s convenient for me.

The air conditioning system wasn't working. The unit's 24 years old. One of the lines was getting so hot that you couldn't touch it. I called American Home Shield directly and spoke with a representative. Their reps are always great. They said to expect a contractor out within 24 hours, and I got an email from the contractor that same day.
When I had the guy from Yantra Air came out, he said that I got a bad coil and that was causing the problem. He knew what he was doing. He was very professional and given the circumstances, he was quite friendly. There was him and a helper. But it was about 96 degrees and in the house was 92 when they changed the AC unit. So it was hot and it took them quite a while to change that unit out, but he did it. And right now, it's comfortable and beautiful. I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and I've never had a problem with them. If I do have a problem, I call them and within 24 hours, I get a text or an email from a contractor and it gets taken care of. I'm just waiting for them to send me a check because I've had the whole unit replaced.

A home warranty is very important. American Home Shield has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years that I've had it. I've done my claims both by phone and online. I prefer the online one as it's pretty simple and easy. You just click the button. But their actual representative is great too. The only thing that I have a problem with on the calling is the wait to speak to someone. That ranges anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. It depends on how busy their calls are.
I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield and I’ve recommended it to some of my friends at work. For a plumbing issue we had, Shields Plumbing was sent out. My wife was home when the tech came. There were some screws sticking on the outside that were causing the unit not to turn on. He fixed it in five minutes and was gone. It was great.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield has been easy in the five years that I've been with them. I call them and they take the service fee. Then, AHS would cll me back and let me know when they can get a contractor out to my location. A company would then call me to say that they would be out at a certain time or that they are on their way. Most recently, I had their contractor Legacy 4 out for a plumbing issue and their techs determined that I had a faucet that was frozen due to hard water over the years. They couldn't repair it nor clean it out and so they went out to buy an updated faucet and came back. They replaced what I had within an hour.
I have been contacted by another company called HomeSafe. They charge 65 for a call while Home Shield charges $75. Plus, HomeSafe beats out my monthly fee by almost $15. I pay 70 for home Shield and HomeSafe is at 52.50. Home Warranties all do the same thing in that they have contractors. Home Shield and Home Safe probably use some of the same contractors. Still, Home Shield is a good company and I recommend them to anybody.

It has worked out for us over the years and on a couple of other properties we had and everything we had there as well. It came highly recommended at the time of purchase.

My AC wasn't working. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and it was a great experience. The contractors were great as well. The guy was upfront about what time he was gonna come. He asked me questions about what I thought the problem was, so he gave me an opportunity to let him know that I wasn't clueless. He said, "Okay, that's good." He'd take that information.
He got here on time. He was respectful, had a mask on, went upstairs and went to work. I asked him if he needed some water because it was smoking hot up in the attic. He was like, "No. Got my own but appreciate it." He did the repairs, came down and communicated to me what the problem was. He gave me the component that had gone bad and I had heat and my wife has air. So far, I haven't had any issues with AHS. I haven't felt like they've cut corners. I've got a dual oven stove and one of the ovens stopped working. When the technician from South Valley Appliance got there, he didn't have the right parts so they had to order it. But they did a good job of following up and calling up to come over and fix it. So the technician came for a second visit and he got it done quickly. He also fired up the oven so we saw that it was working. He was very courteous and professional as well. I also had an air conditioning claim at the same time and the contractor came out and fixed it quickly. At the end of the day, the price was more than half cheaper than what it would have cost me to have an AC repairman come out.
In fact, that was why I started out with getting the coverage for a couple of investment properties that I have. When I had a water heater break down in a condo, it ended up flooding the unit below but the fact that I had Home Shield made a huge difference in the ultimate amount that I had to pay to get things fixed. Although there seems to be a little bit of a hassle sometimes with American Home Shield when working with the property management companies and the investment units, that's only because the contractor has to get in touch with the tenants to arrange a time for the technician to get there. Sometimes, there's a little bit back and forth and sometimes, if the tenant made the claim and didn't let American Home Shield know that they are a tenant, American Home Shield ends up trying to reach me, which causes confusion. But overall, they've saved me money so it has proven its value.
I had also done the research when looking for a home warranty company and I got a solid recommendation both from my research and from people that I know that have the service. And I have not been disappointed to this point by any means. I definitely recommend it. Having the coverage evens out the unknown and for the time that I've used them in my house, it’s been great.

Our garage door didn't open and close. When it closed, it went back up. It never stayed closed. The contractor that AHS sent came. He did it once. He said, "I know what it is." He fixed it and it works just fine. He was awesome. He fixed it in a reasonable time. He put it in a new gear and left the old gear to show me what they did. I'm a happy guy. I've called AHS for three things in the house. Everything in the house is 15 years old, which is a good reason why I got American Home Shield. I was thinking, if anything is 15 years old, it's gonna go at some point pretty soon. So, let's just pay them monthly instead of pay one big shot.
I'm happy with the service of AHS. But, there's a list of people who they call if something broke and I'm not really thrilled with one of the contractors. They came in. They knew what it was and they ordered a part. The part came in. But they said, "Oh no, all parts didn't come in. We forgot this part is separate. We have to order that also." So, it took two months to fix. They fixed it. But it was fixed, in my opinion, the wrong way. The service people didn't know what they were doing. The service people came in with their supervisor, and they said, "Oh, yes." Then they had to call American Home Shield to see if they'd even pay for that total bill.
When it came to my furnace, AHS fixed it. No problem. I said, "Well, that can't be fixed, so replace it." They said, "No. There's up to a limit they'll pay for this furnace, and that's it. Anything else, you have to pay for it." That is wrong advertising. It needs to be stated in their ad, not fixed or replaced. But it should say, "Repair or replace with a limited amount."
So, at this point, I don't know what would they pay for the furnace because they won't answer it. They said, "We don't know what part, what piece it's gonna be, how much your furnace is gonna be, or how much your air conditioner is gonna be." I can't get an answer. I understand I couldn't get an answer. I also understand why they're putting limits on things because one contractor may have a buddy who sells air conditioners but it's overpriced, and that's where he buys from. I've already recommended AHS to other people because I don't wanna take the chance to say everybody else who is advertising is the same way, 'cause they all advertise repair or replace.

He didn't do our work right and we don't know if it's still correct but we have another plumber to come out and fix it. So, it's all good. Sometimes my husband doesn't like the time frame that some of the people want to come. Some of them don't wanna come into your home right away with COVID going on. We were having problems with our filter at the end of last year. We were getting sand in the pool. It was from the early 1980s filter. So, the people that came and closed our pool professionally said it probably needed to be replaced 'cause they couldn't even get any kind of replacement parts to fix it. So, we put the claim in and the pool company that closed us wanted us to go through them, but we went through American Home Shield.
When Evo Pools came out, he started up the pool 'cause we hadn't even started it up yet 'cause I didn't know if the filter had to be dry so he could dump out the sand and take a look at anything. We got everything running and everything. And when he started the filter up, it was spraying water. So, it had cracked. It was literally falling apart cause it was so old. We've bought our own upgraded pool pump. Other than that, it seems to be running fine and the pool is cleared up.
American Home Shield has been really good at getting people out. It was harder for the pool company but it was the time of year and the COVID. But I'm learning that there are other services that offer the same type of service, and it's cheaper and faster. It’s a la carte so you can pick and choose what you want. So, if I know my air conditioner is brand new, I don't have to cover it because that's already covered. I'm very frustrated with what's going on in my house with this coverage that I have with American Home Shield. We got their coverage 'cause one thing in our house broke. It took us a lot of effort and a lot of issues and a lot of money to replace it. So we decided that we would get American Home Shield and a month later, our refrigerator broke. Now, two months after that, we still don't have our refrigerator. So we're not too happy.
The refrigerator is not getting cold. Express Appliance has come out four times and they still have not fixed the refrigerator. The first time, they ordered parts and they had to wait a week for it. Then I had to wait a week for another appointment. Then the technician came in, put the parts in and it didn't work. So I had to wait another 10 days for another appointment. He came but he didn't know what was wrong with it. He was gonna try another part. So now I have to wait a week for another part and then hope for another appointment.
I've called American Home Shield multiple times for different issues and they won't answer the phone. I waited on hold for 2 hours and 47 minutes and nobody picked up. Then they said to leave them a number and they would call me back so I wouldn't have to wait on hold, they wouldn't actually call back. They're supposedly ordering another part that may or may not help on my fridge.
We also had somebody came in for the dishwasher. They said it needed a piece and then like a week later, I got an email saying that they couldn't order the piece so they were gonna replace our dishwasher. I didn't hear from them again and then all of a sudden this week, I got an email saying that they mailed $300 to us and we would have to buy the appliance, pay a licensed contractor ourselves to put the new dishwasher in, and then send them proof from the contractor that the appliance was put in. We're not getting a dishwasher for $300 and it's gonna cost me another $250 get a licensed guy in. The whole thing doesn't make sense and you can't get anyone to answer the phone.

I've only been with American Home Shield for a year and I have submitted three claims. The first one was my dishwasher back in December. That was very difficult because the people they sent didn't know what to do. There is not a lot of people that know how to fix my dishwasher. American Home Shield's protocol was that when the service person said that they needed to order a part, they believed them and they would order the part. But it had gone on and on.
AHS called different people to come out and fix the dishwasher and every person that came out didn't have any experience. I allowed at least six different people into my home and the dishwasher was still in parts on my dining room table. They were ordering pumps and motors, and they replaced all of the electronics. Something was wrong but it never worked. They just kept taking it apart and trying to put pieces in and it was very frustrating. They were doing the best they could from afar, but it was just a difficult experience. The first time we had someone come to the house was on December 11th and on March 10th, I was able to buy a new dishwasher. 90 days was long enough to wait. Then they finally said that I could have a new one. They gave me the credit and I ran to Home Depot immediately and replaced it.
I was worried about calling AHS with my air conditioner. But they sent out this wonderful company from Stockton, California. We had two claims in the last three or four months for similar issues with our air conditioner because of the age. There were two separate switches that both burned up about six weeks apart. Coaches came out the first time, took care of it in 20 minutes and he was out the door. We were running perfectly for about six weeks and then a different switch burned up. So, I called American Home Shield again and they sent Coaches out. The technician was there again for about half an hour or something. He replaced the switch and made sure we were working fine. It has been perfect. So they have been excellent as far as providing service and settling the issue.
American Home Shield is pretty darn good. I was frustrated with my dishwasher experience, but it was not their fault. You call them and they answer. You can also do absolutely everything online. So, when the air conditioner goes out at 11 o'clock at night, you just put it online and you get an email within 20 minutes and then somebody calls you the next day to ask when they can come to your house. For the cost, American Home Shield is probably one of the best. I renewed them for another year.

The guy from Precision Door Service was nice, very professional and he did a great job. But American Home Shield sucks and they called me the other day wanting to know why I didn't wanna renew with them. I've bought a lot of properties and usually, American Home Shield comes with the house for the first year. So, it's not somebody that I'm unfamiliar with. They've been around a long time and they used to be good back in the day. Now, they suck and they're terrible. The customer service used to be great as well as the policy's procedures but they have changed over the years. I had a water heater that went out and I ended up having to pay $575. I pay 75 for them to come out and then, almost 600 for them, which is ridiculous. You have to pay a lot of extra on top of your $75 all the time. It's not just $75 for American Home Shield, you have to pay additional money all the time and I don't like it.
The people that come out are usually good but AHS is not professional. I was in sales for 40 years and I'm retired so I know how people should be treated. My number one and two customers were Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, throughout the country and you know how service oriented both those two companies are. They've been my customers for 20 years so I'm all about customer service. If I have American Home Shield come out, then they'll say that it’s going to take three days to get approved. Three days have turned into a week before, where I had no hot water. My 91-year-old mother in law lives with us and we need hot water. I called the plumbing company to ask what was going on and they said that American Home Shield hasn't gotten back to them yet to say if they were going to cover it.
Thank God that all my properties are in good condition especially the one that I live in now. I keep up all my properties awesome and I get it that when you’re a homeowner, things are gonna happen. But at the end of the day, if something happens, I need an electrician, a plumber or a carpenter, I got enough connections. I'll make it happen. I'd rather just take the chance and take control over everything. If I got a problem with something, I'll just call them and pay whatever it is instead of going through a third-party. AHS doesn't operate their company the way I like to do business with people so I chose not to renew with them.

One of the parts on one of my appliances had given me problems. The contractors had to order a part, gave me an estimated time and they came back sooner than they had estimated to repair it. They handled it well. I haven't had any problems so far with the claims process of AHS. The times I've used it, it's been fine.

Relaxed Heating and Air did wonderful. They were on time and they get out here quickly. They told me what was wrong and we fixed it. The tech had to replace something but he said there was other work that needed to be done so we scheduled for that to be done. They came back and did it. They were very neat, polite and orderly, and I was very appreciative. I’ve been with American Home Shield for years and I've really appreciated them. I would recommend them too. I had my sister get them in Georgetown, Texas.
But I was very disappointed in one thing that I had last year with my client. He had a problem and he didn't know whether it was the electrical or the air conditioner. When I called American Home Shield, they said I had to tell them which one and they charged for both. But the gal who's in charge of American Home Shield in my office took care of it.

I had a problem with a leaking shower handle. American Home Shield sent out Tom Melton company. They came and messed around, and broke stuff. They were here for four weeks. I kept complaining so I asked American Home Shield to send Neace out who had been here before. The Neace people came out. The tech was here a few hours and did a great job. I appreciated the person I talked to at American Home Shield because they listened to my complaints and rectified it by sending Neace out. So I'm really happy with American Home Shield.
One problem I have is when you call their lines, there's not enough people. I called all of the lines and each one, I sat about 30 minutes waiting on them to answer and they never did. Also, finding people in crafts are kinda hard but they need to screen those people. The first people they sent out here from Tom Melton were terrible. They didn't have any tools. The guy was running to Lowe's picking up pieces. So they need to do a little better job of screening their subcontractors.

Water pressure in my house has reduced drastically to the point of almost completely shutting off. I called AHS and within a day or two, they scheduled a plumber to come out. The one they sent from USA plumbing was very nice. He tried troubleshooting our issue and thought that we may have a problem with our water heater. He tried flushing out the pipe and because of that, our issue was resolved.
Another time, the tech that Home Shield sent for my air conditioner gave me a huge bill amounting to thousands of dollars. I wanted a second opinion and AHS did that to make sure that the tech completely sorted things out. At another rental property of mine, there was a water heater issue and the techs wanted to change parts. This happened during the winter when going without hot water is difficult. I wanted to opt for American Home Shield's cash out portion so I could take care of replacing my water heater immediately. However, the cash out took forever to get to me. Plus, it would take a long time for me to talk to customer service to resolve the issue. I shouldn't want to call them as they should be taking care of things on their end. Still, things have been okay with AHS most of the time. They're pretty good at getting technicians out. I'm happy with them and I'm going to renew my coverage.

I'm a homeowner and American Home Shield has been worth it for me. I've always been able to get them on the phone. I normally call and speak with a person to file a claim. And before this pandemic happened, I wouldn't even be on hold as long as I have recently been. I've only had two different times for anyone ever to come out to my home. Both were very professional. The last one was with Thermo-STAT. When the tech came out, he seemed pretty thorough and his main concern was to look at the products and assess it and then to make the determination. He made it clear that he had to assess all of the options to see what would work.
Thermo-STAT ordered some parts that the technician felt needed to be done to complete the repair. Once the products came in, he scheduled another call to come out. He came and installed everything that he thought would fix the repair. After he left, the washer was fine but the dryer still was not working properly. It was only functioning on one setting.
I contacted Thermo-STAT back and let him know that it still wasn't working. So, he advised me to call American Home Shield back to let them know that both repairs had been completed on the dryer and it was just not working anymore. Because before he even came out a couple of months ago, another company came out and replaced a piece in there which he thought was an initial call.
