I've had American Home Shield for eight years now. I recently filed a claim for our AC that wasn’t heating. I did it online which was easier for me. The techs that they've sent out did something and then it worked for a bit and then it didn’t work so they had to come back and it was fixed.

I’m getting my heating unit fixed right now and I didn’t quite understand that AHS only covers $10 of the refrigerant thing that is to be replaced. It is a pretty big expense and it caught me off-guard. For the claim regarding one of the electric burners that went out on the stove, it was easy submitting it online. American Home Shield's response time was good too. The contractor was friendly and explained everything that was going on and what was needed to be done. The burner has been working great since the repair.

I've been with American Home Shield since September. Recently, I submitted a claim online and I'm a little concerned but I haven't had a chance to call them. They charged me for a service call. I put in a claim for a plumber because I've heard a couple of weird noises when I flushed the toilet. But when the plumber called me to make an appointment, he asked me what was going on. I told him about it and he asked about some work being done up the street near me. He knew that where I lived they were doing some work on the water mains. I confirmed it and he said that it was just air in the system and it will go away. So, he never made the service call because he thought it would be a waste of time. He knew exactly what it would be.

Other than that, my last contract was with 2-10, and I was somewhat happy with them, but my rate went sky high the next renewal. And it often took time, like 48 hours or so, for them to connect me with a contractor. Then they have 24 hours to get out so it could be 36 hours with no water, hot water, or heat. I find that the response time with American Home Shield has been phenomenal. I've had service contracts in the past in Florida and so far, these couple of things with AHS have been very easy to do business with.

Our garbage disposal was leaking. I did a claim online and I got a response right away. The plumber that American Home Shield assigned to come out called and made an appointment for the very next day. It was a favorable response and experience. When they called, I explained to them what I was experiencing and they said they would come prepared. They asked if I knew the size of the equipment and so on. And I knew what we needed as well as the size because my husband and I had looked into potentially doing the repair ourselves. The plumber said he would come prepared to replace the garbage disposal on the outside chance that it couldn’t be fixed. Now the garbage disposal is working perfectly.

My only reservation about American Home Shield is that sometimes I’m hesitant to call because I have the deductible. My husband probably could have done the repair on the garbage disposal but it would have been hours of heartache because he’s not handy that way. But our hesitance is on us and is not really a pitfall on American Home Shield.

When our refrigerator went out, I had to put all my food outside on the deck to keep it cold. I also needed service to come in and repair it. I went online, submitted the request with AHS, paid the copay, and had the repair scheduled. The claim submission was pretty quick. But I hadn’t heard from GE Appliance until the very last minute. I was nervous if I was still on the schedule, so I had called them to confirm the appointment which they did. The technician called me as he was heading out to my house, and he was actually early. He came in, very promptly diagnosed the issue, determined what needed to be fixed, and he explained what he was doing. He got it fixed as quickly as he could and then he was on his way. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and there were no issues. Overall, it went very well and I was very pleased.

I used the Home Shield service for HVAC repairs two times (for an issue that was observed when we did a walk through on the house), both times the HVAC company referred by Home Shield was unable to fix the issue and/or did not arrive with required parts even though I had done enough preliminary troubleshooting to narrow down the source of the problem. In each case, despite lack of effective resolution, I still had to pay the out of pocket service charge fee. Ultimately with additional troubleshooting I ended up fixing the issue myself. I would not place a lot of value in the Home Shield Service.

So my microwave went bad 6 months ago. Repair person sent out by AHS says it’s 16 years old, magnetron etc etc are busted. I’ll repair but it’ll probably keep happening due to age. He talks to AHS, explains the situation, cost of repair more than new unit, but yup, repair it. Ok no issue. I talk to a representative later. They say, "If it happens again give us a call." Ok so 6 months on, exact same issue again I can tell, loud noise, not heating. I call and I explain situation to CS. She says someone has to come and they’ll determine. I knew the technician will again say, it’s repairable. And so the process will go on and on and cost hundreds for both me and AHS for probably a $200 microwave. Anyway, we are going in a loop but normal tone by both. I said I want to speak to manager or supervisor.

After few minutes she comes back with aggressive tone, obviously tutored what to say. ‘Manager not here, you are not a technician, how do you know it’s old, you can’t tell it’ll go bad again.’ ‘Lady’ I said. ‘I’m not the one telling you, I’m telling you what the technician told me and your CS.’ ‘We don’t have those notes, nobody has said that.’ Well that’s AHS’s business how they take notes I told her and it was a casual conversation I had with CS 6 months ago. Anyway I just end the conversation as it was not getting resolved. Very bad attitude and obviously I have to get this thing sorted sooner than later as microwave is a relatively simpler unit. Can’t just keep shoving in magnetrons and capacitors every few months. It’s an essential item and can’t be kept waiting for 3 weeks for thing to be repaired.

I don't know where to start. I had American Home Shield for over two years on two rental properties. Unfortunately, their service has gotten progressively worse. I called to file a claim about my ac unit and was told a company could not be out until four business days. This is unacceptable as a landlord. I paid for the service myself and ended up canceling my call. However, AHS still charged me a 75.00 service call that never occurred. It took months to get straightened out. I decided to cancel in January.

Fast forward two months, someone did not cancel my contract correctly and they are attempting to collect on one of the two properties. I have called several times and called again today to be reassured this would be taken care of. I asked for a supervisor today which resulted in the lady saying "we are having a system update (at 300pm?) and I can't transfer you." She advised she will call me back. Please stay away from this company, this service is unacceptable from the top down.

Thank goodness he had the sense to send his employee Manu who was a total delight, had it not been for Manu I am positive my garage door would not have gotten fixed. Manu was an indefatigable worker and very respectful. However, I cannot say that about the person who owns this Choose the Right Door.

I am asking AHS to please remove this company from their contractors' list. This company is not worth it. Manu arrive and started to work right away. Then the person who came out was very nice. However, I had a problem with the invoicing. I have a specific deductible with American Home Shield of $100 and I got an invoice from the plumbing company, which I’m assuming American Home Shield handled, of $150. I spoke with somebody and they said they would check into it. I just don’t see any other deductions from my banking account for any difference. I don’t know if that was just the communication between American Home Shield and the plumbing company or not, but that was the only problem.

It is my sincerest hope that by sharing my experience I will be contacted by a Supervisor from you AHS. I sent this e-mail detailing my frustration this morning and have yet to get a response. I am currently on hold waiting to speak with a Supervisor. My phone call began at 9:29 am and it is now 11:58 am. I have been told on two separate occasions that I would be transferred to a Supervisor and that has yet to happen. I was even told that a supervisor stated they would not speak to me.

After being on the phone for more than 90 minutes the call was disconnected from your end. I called and asked to be connected with the representative I was previously speaking to. I provided her name and was then denied my request. I was placed back in a call rotation. The first representative has my phone number and since out call was disconnected from her end at 11:09 am, she has yet to call back. The second call has now been disconnected from your end after an additional 38 minutes and that representative has not called back either.

To say I am frustrated and completely dissatisfied is an understatement. If you have been working with a customer for more than 90 minutes and also 38 minutes if the call is disconnected, you should have a responsibility to call that customer back. It is seems as if you all are using tactics to deter your customers from following through with their requests so that you do not have to honor the terms of the contract. This behavior is shameful on your behalf.

If you will review our account you will see that we upgraded our water heater. We were told on two separate occasions we would be reimbursed for the cost of the water heater that you would have paid to replace the original and also for permits ($250.00) and bringing the unit up to code ($250.00). When we inquired about the amount of the water heater reimbursement, we were initially told $600.00. On yesterday, we were told $550.00 and told that they didn't know anything about the $250 for permits and $250 for bringing up the code, so no. The reimbursement for permits and codes was brought to our attention by your staff. When this information was shared with us, I went to our contract to verify. If you will visit Section D., Part 14, Lines H and I you will see the information regarding the $250.00 for each. In regard to the water heater itself, Line L states you will pay up to $2,000.00.

I am requesting that a Supervisor call me at the number listed below to discuss the $600.00 for the water heater, $250.00 for permits, and $250.00 for bringing up to code. Based on the information that was provided two us by two representatives of you company, we are owed a total of $1,100.00. I am anticipating your phone call so that we can resolve this matter in a timely fashion. The above e-mail received no response and we have yet to have this issue resolved. It is very disappointing to pay for a service to only learn that the company has no moral compass.

The pressure valve of my hot water heater was leaking. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and it went well. The contractor, Kwik Services, came out after two days. The guy was great and did a good job. He was in and out of here and he knew his stuff. It’s just that AHS doesn’t pick the best people to come out and service things. They don't pick name-brand companies, they just pick the little guys, which is fine because some of them are good. But I got B & K, who totally ripped me off years ago for my other hot water heater and I refuse to use them now. Also, AHS's prices keep going up and I’m dissatisfied about it. It gets to the point where I might as well just wait for something that they can pay for it or the deductible keeps going up, and they keep taking little things that add up away from the contracts.

When I thought that the drainage was backed up, I called American Home Shield to submit a claim for that. The interaction with the AHS rep was fine, and the tech who came out was fine too. The tech resolved the issue in a matter of seconds and he was great. My thing is collecting the $75 when nothing is wrong. The first time when the contractor came out, they said they couldn't fix the problem, but I still had to pay. I understood that they came out, but when they got there and saw that there was nothing they could do, why should I pay $75? AHS asks for the little $75 in advance. If there's a problem, then they take the $75. But when the contractor comes out and there's no major problem, it's incorrect to pay $75 if there isn't any true problem. I don’t like that part. Other people should shop around first before going with AHS.

We had a furnace that went out in one of our rental houses. It was working in about half capacity and I called American Home Shield. They set us up with Aire Serv by the St. Robert and they had it done as soon as the furnace came in. It took a total of about two weeks to complete everything. It took more time to get that furnace in from their supplier than it did to do anything else. During that time, the tenant was able to use some space heaters and kept everything at reasonable capacity. So, she was able to keep it at 60 degrees or better in there without much problem.

I've had American Home Shield for over a year now, since I bought the house. Part of the closing agreement was the previous owner would supply a one-year warranty. I did a bit of research into it and it was a good thing to reinvest in. So, I went ahead and reinvested this year, and it worked out good. I’m very pleased with American Home Shield. It’s uncommon for insurance to do what they are there for and actually make you feel good about it but I feel good about this.

With our property in Blacksburg, my experience with AHS has been positive for the most part. However, on some occasions, for example, finding a locksmith to replace locks, has been very challenging. It is cheaper to buy locks in the store and pay somebody to do it than to go with the service because we were asked to front the cost, then get reimbursed through them but through service. I said no. I would like to replace the four locks since we bought the house to matching and I have not been able to do it. It would be great to be able to do it.

A few times because the property was rented out, there was very bad communication, particularly with the plumbing services. We’ve had an ongoing problem and it cost us a lot of money, above what was covered. In the meantime, the sewage kept coming into the house and we had a family with young kids living there. The system would be updated, but no email or text message would come to my husband, so we had no way of knowing how to handle it remotely. It has been very disappointing. A plumber through AHS could not make it until two days and we had to urgently call someone and pay out of pocket just to unclog it, so the water would drain and people would not have sewage flowing into the house.

Finally, American Home Shield came through and said that it was not a claim anymore because it was sewage flowing. It needed hydro jetting, but the problem has not been addressed. It cost me over $3,000 just to hire our own plumber and still not address the underlying problem. For a rental property, I would never buy American Home Shield again. My daughter is a realtor for a top company and they dropped American Home Shield. That tells something, too.

I most recently filed a claim online to American Home Shield for our water heater. I logged into my account, filled in the blanks, and hit send. I got an instant message saying who were the people that they were gonna assign the claim to and that they would be in contact with me within 24 hours. They got ahold of me right away, so I dialed their number, spoke to Sam and asked for them to step up on that. They made it a point to come out, take a look at it, got the water heater, put it in, and got it fixed up. They were great and were top-shelf.

There were extra charges beyond what it covered because of some of the apparatus on the water heater that’s like a recycler. I paid my $100 and I had to pay an additional $455 for them to do the different work on there. If I weren’t in such a hurry to get the thing fixed, I would’ve had a buddy of mine come over and do the whole thing, but it’s okay. They got it taken care of and that’s why I’m paying that kind of money. I hate to use them because most insurance places, after you use them a couple of times, cut you off. I had them at my old house and I’ve had them at this house. I've probably spent $4,000 on monthly fees with these guys at least, so I have to go use them.

But they fixed a dryer for me two months ago and I heard the new part making the exact same noise that we’ve called them for last time. It sounds like it’s already going bad. They’re gonna have to stand up from their policy right now for the parts that they put in. This shouldn’t cost me anything. If this was a year later, great, but this has been less than two months. It’s the fairing, you can hear it starting to scream. Other than that, it's money well spent all in all. And I was trying to save them for if something big goes out. But it gets to a point where I don’t wanna spend my weekend taking my dryer apart to fix it and I don’t wanna change my water heater. I want these people to come do that.

The plumbing into the tub was a galvanized pipe and that was probably from when the house was first built. I submitted the claim online to AHS and within 24 hours, Lakeshore Plumbing came out and helped. They did a good job. They had to replace the faucet that the water comes out of, and they actually had one to replace mine with so they didn’t have to leave and come back. In that respect, they came prepared. We've had American Home Shield since we bought the house 10 years ago. Because we bought an older house, the homeowner paid for the first year of it. And because we have older systems, especially the heating and air conditioning system, we have AHS mostly to cover the cost of getting those replaced. The downstairs heat pump has already been replaced, but the upstairs has not yet been replaced. But we've had water heater replaced not all that long ago. We have fairly new appliances and most of our issues have had to do with the heat pump system.

My biggest issue with them is the fact that some of their people are fantastic but some are absolute idiots. When stuck with the idiot, they would come out six times to fix something. Once somebody screws something up, I'm stuck with them till they fix it. It's impossible to say that the guy doesn't know what he was doing and ask for a different person. The winter before the last one, we had no heat for six weeks in our upstairs of our house because the guy who was doing the heating repair had no clue what he was doing. I'm in San Antonio, Texas and it doesn't get tremendously cold, but it's still cold. When the upstairs is 50 degrees, the kids aren't happy with it. Other than that, it's easy to put in a request for service with them.

I always call in my claims to American Home Shield and the people has been wonderful. However, the prompts before actually getting service on the telephone is not good. Sometimes you gotta wait 20 to 30 minutes before you get an actual person on the phone. All places in general put all these prompts and they wanna talk so much. If AHS would be doing the air conditioning, they would be talking about air filters and people don’t wanna hear about that. It’s the way the industry has changed over the years but with the service of AHS, everything is fine. The guys do their job and make sure that somebody is there for us and that is appreciated.

Everything seems to work good for us. I’m trying to work with them and the technician’s company has been trying to work with me but they’ll be fine. It has just taken a little while. We’ve been without a microwave and an oven for a couple of weeks now. So, I was hoping that would get faster. The technician was supposed to show up today between 8:00 and 9:00 but it became 8:00 and 12:00 when I called them back. They said they got busy on another job. It's supposed to be first thing in the morning because they needed two guys to take out the stove. They said it was too heavy for one guy. Then, they said it was gonna take an hour. However, my buddy had to go to the hospital so, we couldn't stay. We left at 10:15 and we had to reschedule it. The rep has yet to call us back so I’m waiting for that. I tell everybody that they should be using AHS because I’ve used other companies and to me, they are the best.

My furnace went out. I got it started but called to have a repair. The company American Home Shield had me contact wasn't open so I left a message. They returned my call while I was at work and left a message to call to make a appointment. My furnace had been working fine since so I didn't call back figuring I would give it a while to see if it shut off again. I had chosen when I called to have the 75 dollar fee taken 48 hrs after the service was completed so I won't worried about the money being taken out since I hadn't even talked to the furnace company.

Then American Home Shield just took the money out of my account. So I called them and it took me over a week of calling. Them never calling me back or doing anything other than when I called to find out that yes they shouldn't have taken the money and I will get it back but it will take up to 21 days. I am so upset and they told me there is no customer service department to talk to. I have a lot more to say but don't want to type it all. So yes I am probably not going to renew my contract and this company is awful to actually talk to and get help from.

Three times now I have had to contact AHS due to stoppages with my plumbing and each time I have to call I am filled with anxiety as I know calling in is going to be a nightmare. I experience horrible customer service each time I speak with anyone. The first time they sent someone out, they sent a horrible company who had no idea what they were doing. I ended up having to find my own plumber and pay out of pocket to fix the issue. The issue has since reoccurred and I requested they send someone else who thankfully was better but the problem has still not been resolved as I keep having issues.

Not to mention my account had been outstanding for my initial service fee from the first time I had an issue. I have called numerous times to get this resolved and after probably the 15th time of speaking with someone they FINALLY tell me they never drafted the service fee from my account. They have no idea what they are doing and I cannot wait until my contract is up with them so I can switch to a company who has a damn clue.

Our hot tub water heater broke. It's covered under our warranty as it is an in ground hot tub. We spent the first week being referred to different contractors who all called and said, "nope we don't fix that." We finally got a contractor out (4th try) and he said, "Yep clear and covered problem, we'll be back next week to replace." The next week we found out that the person who was assigned to approve this had a death in the family and just left town and they didn't think anyone needed to do her job while she was gone.

We finally got the approval. The guy has the part ordered and is going to come back the next day. The next day he calls and says "whoops the part is no longer made, we need approval for either a smaller or bigger one." Two days later and now we are dealing with the cash department because they claim that to fix the part we would need a modification and that is not covered and so they aren't going to fix it. We do not understand how they can get away with this and are talking to a lawyer. Hold times are always over 30 minutes, the people you talk to are just flat out rude, and this has been an absolute nightmare. Find another company. This one doesn't know what they are doing and they certainly don't care.

The contractor was great, personable and easy to talk to. He checked everything. He made sure everything was okay and adjusted a few of the vents. He didn’t tell me exactly what he did because I’m not technically advanced, but there were some things that he had to fix within the unit itself and it worked. I believe in having a warranty.

I call them whenever I have claims and my conversations with their representatives have been pleasant. The contractors were pleasant too. In a recent claim, I called at 4:00 in the morning for my water heater and they had someone here by 10:00 the same morning. Plus Plumbing came out and they had to order a part. American Home Shield had to send the part to Home Depot and then the water tank was replaced. The whole process took 3 days. My experience with American Home Shield is excellent and if you're somebody considering a home warranty through them, then you need to get them.

I noticed the furnace wasn't turning on so I went and put a claim in with AHS. And then, my water heater and then my stove stopped working. It was weird that everything that was gas in my house stopped working. I canceled the water heater claim at least 24 hours before the contractor had even contacted me. The contractor called me the next morning, asked about coming out and I said, "I canceled that 24 hours ago. I don't need your services. Thank you for the callback."

I don't think American Home Shield's first initial go-to companies are always the greatest. Like the one that they wanted to have come to my house, I've called and requested a change because I will never have the original company that they requested to ever come to my house again. They didn't fix the problem. They literally broke like six hours later. And when I called the contractor, he told me I needed to file another claim and pay another service fee to have them even come back out to look at it again. I called AHS and just told them that I had a very bad experience with the company they assigned and I wanted to request Thermodyne. And they did it within a matter of three minutes.

I had Thermodyne come out just because I know they're a good company and I wanted to have them check it just in case. They are highly recommended by several people in my family. I have had them out more than once, and they're very knowledgeable and very good people. They had offered to come out that next morning. I have to work so I scheduled it for afternoon again. The contractor did his job but it wasn't something he could fix because it was the gas supplier that needed to do the repair.

So I had Ameren- IT come out, and they found it being the regulator to the main gas valve on my house was bad and that needed to be replaced. I called American Home Shield, and the guy told me that they had to call the contractor. And then, they called the contractor, but the contractor didn't know if they performed the work on my house. So they needed to investigate that. AHS would call me and let me know if they were going to process a refund, and this was over a week ago. From the customer service, I haven't had that many issues. But AHS is horrible at following up and actually keeping the customer informed on what's going on.

There was one time that I needed to speak with a manager, and there were no managers available. So they put a note in my file to have a manager to call me. I literally got a phone call a month and a half later from a manager saying that there was a note in my file that I needed to talk to a manager. The services that they provide are wonderful, but they need to step up the game 100% on their customer service and their follow-up ability.

I just decided to go with a Home Warranty, the reason being is that it is going to be cheaper in the long run to have all of my Appliances on one Warranty as I have a Sears Furnace and a Whirlpool Dish Washer which is movable, not built in. and Sears has gone out of business and will not cover me as I am almost 150 miles from the Nearest Sears Store. I have a lot of new Appliances and each one had a Warranty on it, but then when the main Warranty wears off you either have to go with a Service Plan or you have to go with the Lowe's Warranty. I have been doing that with my Appliances as I can't move the diswasher, the new Fridge nor the New Stove or the Hot Water Heater and the list goes on and on.

I have not had to use this new Warranty, but hope that it's good. It has a real small deductible so it will cost me a little money, but they have guaranteed me that they will have a repairman here right away. Otherwise you end up with getting whoever will show up and probably paying anywhere from $150 to $200 for any repairman to show up. Hopefully I have made a good decision at my age.

Our heater downstairs stopped working. We called American Home Shield and they had Best Care Home Services come and assess why. Something was broken so they ordered a new part for it. It took an awfully long time to get it from the manufacturer, but it was no fault of their own. Once they got it in, they had it in and installed within the next day. While they were up there, they asked me if I wanna have them look at my other heater too so I called about it and had a second claim. That heater was assessed and determined that it needed replacement so it was replaced within a week and at least, we had heat upstairs.

When I submit claims to AHS, I use the internet because I don't like to talk to people. The website navigation is incredibly easy. The customer service I received and the interactions I had with the technician are fantastic. But with the person from Best Care that ordered the parts, it was not so great because she did not keep me updated on what was happening with why they took so long to get the part. She would make a note for herself, but would not let us know and we were left hanging. She wasn't great with communication and I wasn't thrilled with that. Other than that, everything including the technician was great.

When I make a claim with American Home Shield, I call and tell them what’s wrong, and they send somebody out to evaluate the situation. And if I need to get it replaced or repaired, the person sent out will let AHS know. When my dishwasher got damaged, one of the techs sent out by AHS came and evaluated some crack on it. It was wrongly put in and all that. They then sent out another person, and they said the thing needed to be replaced. So, AHS sent another tech that would replace it, but they couldn't hook the new dishwasher up because it had a copper line there. So they sent a plumber out to put it in for me and he did a good job.

I prefer to have an appliance warranty because anything could break. As a customer, I would like for my bill not to be going up all the time. But I have had American Home Shield for well over 10 years and everything went fine for me. That’s something I wouldn’t wanna give up. When my hot water heater broke seven years ago, they put a new one in. I also had new garbage disposal put in. So, American Home Shield is good to have. I recommend them pretty heavily ‘cause they’ve been good to me. And my daughter also got it.

We have three (3) units at our house and I thought the tune-up special would work out great. Unfortunately, once the technician arrived, and I pointed out all three (3) units, the tech then stated that he was only authorized to look at one (1) unit. You've got to be kidding me. The tech then put AHS on the phone and AHS basically said that the technician was only authorized to look at one (1) unit during this visit.

AHS also stated that if I wanted my other units looked at, I would have to submit a service request for each additional unit. The fun didn't stop there. So the tech found a low coolant level in the unit. He then said that he was not authorized to add coolant. WHAT?? The tech once again got AHS on the phone and they stated that the tech was not authorized to add coolant but to simply point out that coolant was needed. This is a joke right?? What the hell kind of tune-up is that?? So... I had to make another service request to have another tech come out, on a different date, just to simply add coolant. And oh by-the-way, that was $75 per service call. I could've done better with Billy Bob's Air Conditioning service down the street. Very disappointing.

As a new homeowner I thought I was doing the right thing in insisting the purchase of a Home Warranty. I completely believe in the concept but I’m here to warn people to do your homework! Just because a company is the most widely known doesn’t make them the best, and this is the case for American Home Shield. Last night was the second time I’ve had to submit a service request in the past 3 months, and this time it was for a plumber. Because the situation seemed unusual I thought I would send a picture to the email provided in the confirmation for Aaron Heating and Plumbing in Chicago, IL.

When the email came back undeliverable I decided to look up this vendor and discovered they are rated a Grade F by the Better Business Bureau! Their ratings are horrible and endless online. It doesn’t matter that this service is “covered” (of course after you hand over $75 for the service call), I don’t want a company like this to step foot in my home, and neither should AHS if they care about their own reputation.

I tried to call AHS at 9:30PM CST and was on hold for 11 minutes, never got through to anyone. I’ve cancelled the service call and will be calling American Express to block the payment because I’m not waiting a week to be refunded. If you want to provide quality service, you align yourself with quality providers - period. It took me less than 5 minutes to determine Aaron Heating & Plumbing shouldn’t step foot in my home, and it would be the same for AHS. However this is their business model; work with the cheapest service providers they can find because working with quality would mean things get fixed fast and cost a bit more, which doesn’t make them money. I’ve found a reputable plumber via Google Guarantees and although the service call will be more expensive, I feel much more confident that I’ll get what I pay for.

I had a faucet that was just busted and leaking water everywhere, and a sewer pump that was seized. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and told them I need plumbing. The claim submission experience was super easy and navigating through their website was easy. As soon as this claim was submitted, they sent me an email and a text saying I should be contacted within the next 24 to 48 hours, and I was contacted five hours later.

My interaction with the contractor, Lakeshore Plumbing and Septic, was good. They were perfect. They went through my laundry with me and everything that we had going bad. They were able to tell me that my sink was leaking because of the faucet being busted, and they went out and bought me a new faucet. Then the sewer pump I have was seized and they called the home warranty to check on my coverage on that one before replacing it. They also checked on the coverage while they were on their way to get the faucet. They also said that if it is covered, they'll just buy a new sewer pump, and do it all the same day.

Since then, everything's been great. We were quite pleased with our most recent claim and the issues were taken care of for me. The experience was great. I'm very happy with how fast and efficient the contractor was. Having a warranty for my property has paid for itself multiple times over. Four of the six appliances in my house are brand new because of American Home Shield. I would not buy a house without having a warranty at this point.

American Home Shield is saying on TV commercials that they'll have someone out to get to you the next day but that's a lie. I called to file a claim then I had to call two or three times before I could even get someone. Then the lady said she had put it through. She didn't know any more than I did with getting someone to come out. I told her what they advertised on TV like they'd gonna get somebody on a Saturday. She said that it would be Monday or Tuesday. I looked on Monday and nobody was there. Then at Tuesday, still nobody came. The contractor came out Wednesday morning. American Home Shield's customer service was poor. However, the contractor was really good. They got right on and fixed the problem. This was the first claim that I filed and I hope AHS will do a better job when I need the service again.

I had a pool heater that didn't work. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and navigating through their website was easy. Getting someone on the phone is the hard part though. The tech from Aeon Blue Pool & Spa came out and diagnosed that the pool heater needed to be replaced. They did all the work of contacting American Home Shield for the authorization to replace it.

The tech has been out here before. He’s a habitual contractor that AHS use for the pool service. And I've had him three times through American Home Shield. He’s always done a great job. Since the repair, the pool heater works great and its repair helped tremendously. We’re getting ready for my son's 16th birthday party and it's hard to have a pool party without a heater in this weather. American Home Shield gives me peace of mind that I’m not gonna have a huge bill during this particular month for an outage of a system. That heater for the pool was a $1,100 repair, and I paid a $75 deductible for that. My experience with AHS has been excellent.

I have a 30-year-old house. Once, I got hit by 10 grand bill for my 30-year-old heating and air conditioning unit that went out and I wasn't able to afford that. I got a home warranty from American Home Shield and it has been helpful as I have a really old house and stuff happens. Once, I filed a claim for my washer as its motherboard was having issues. I file my claims over the phone. There have been times where I have been put on eternal hold, but whenever that happens, I just hang up and call back a different time. I know that there are times where the call volume is higher than other times.

AH Appliance Repair then came out for the washer. What's good about them is that they do all my appliances in the house and so I already know who I'm dealing with. One time, I even asked the tech if I was gonna get them if anything in the kitchen or the washer and dryer goes and he said yes. Another thing that's cool is that on your phone, you get this little text that says where the tech is located on the map and it tells you when exactly he's gonna be at the house. That's really nice for me because I work a lot of hours at a place that's close to home, so if I know I can run home really quick, that makes it more helpful.

The AH Appliance Repair tech replaced my washer's motherboard and the unit is all good now. I've also filed a claim with AHS for my garage door. I knew it was gonna be a tricky claim because the motor died but the repair company came out and replaced one of the doors. In the year and a half that I've had American Home Shield, I've dealt with two different contractors and they've both been very good.

There are so many things that are not covered with American Home Shield and I’m considering dropping my account. When my garage door broke, there was no emergency garage door repair service. I had to pay over $600 to get it fixed so that I could get my car out and go to work the next day. That was almost a whole year's worth of my monthly payment with AHS. Then, when I submitted the claim to be considered for reimbursement, it was denied. They said emergency services were not part of garage door services and that it would have to wait until Monday. The company also had 24 to 48 business hours to schedule my appointment, and I couldn’t wait to get my car out of my garage. It irritated me after being a customer of them for almost 10 years.

American Home Shield is also awfully expensive. I feel there are things that I don’t even call for because they’re not gonna cover. And the garage door just tipped me over the edge. I had been debating and I am going to be canceling. I referred my parents to them and my parents have since stopped their account because they’ve run into the same problems.

I called and filed a claim with American Home Shield for our heat. They sent this guy out and he replaced an item on the unit. He told me to call him back if anything else was wrong with it or I could call my warranty company to call him. I told him that I would call him if anything happens. After the repair, the heat still did the same thing and a couple of days later it broke. I called the tech but he told me he was on vacation and that I had to call my warranty company. I told him, "You were here, I paid you, you fixed the unit, and now that it's broken again the next day you're telling me to call my warranty company?” But my husband said to not worry. The guy told me to take the filter out since the problem could have been the filter size and he told my husband to get a new one. So, my husband went to Home Depot, bought the filter, and cut it out. And the guy was actually right. The unit worked and the heat came back on.

However, the following day, the heat stopped working again. I texted the guy and he sent me 18 pictures of him in Aruba. He also told me to call my warranty company. I called AHS but nobody was answering, so I went online. But their website didn’t say recall anywhere, it just had heat and furnace. I was freezing and I just had back surgery, so I put furnace because that sounded like the next best thing to put in. I did put heat but it said, "You can't put in the same thing.”

I called AHS again the next morning and I was able to get through really early. The rep I talked to told me to wait until someone got here and she cancelled the claim I filed. Climate Control was then assigned to my claim and Tom was the tech who was supposed to get here in two days. But he called and cancelled. He said he couldn't come out for four days because he broke his rib and had a doctor's appointment. Finally, when he showed up, he was with his 14-year-old son. He took off the big duct by the top of my heater and said that the problem was the unit was not getting enough oxygen to the pilot. He then took the whole duct off, plugged in the duct that’s coming in from the outside, took out the filter, and put it back in. I didn’t know what he did but the unit lit back up again. He was here for 10 minutes then he left. But no sooner than a couple of hours later, there was no heat again.

I called American Home Shield and said that what was happening was ridiculous and that they were not sending me the right guy. I called Tom but he told me that he would be going to a family reunion on Friday and that he wouldn't be back unit Monday. That was three days and there was no way in hell I was gonna wait that long. I already waited for him for four days and the issue was going on for two weeks by then. I was done.

So, I called American Home Shield again and asked them to give me the opportunity to call somebody who was a real heating person. They gave me an outside authorization and I called a ma and pa heating company that was recommended to me by a friend. The guy came out and he told me that the unit's modulator and sensor were out and that it should be fixed because that was what burned everything. He said that if the previous techs fixed those right away, none of these things should have happened. He then fixed the unit and it has worked perfectly ever since. So my experience turned out to be good and now I am satisfied. I've been with American Home Shield for nine years now, on and off, and I love them. I know that the problem was the crazy people they sent out.

Our heating unit quit working and we didn't know exactly what it was doing. It would either not come on at all no matter what we set it on or it would come on and just run and run. I submitted the claim with American Home Shield over the phone and the process was really simple. Within a few minutes, I started receiving a text saying that they've received my claim and that they were working on it. However, it was over the weekend, so we didn't get anyone over until later. They called me and the techs came out quickly. They were gonna put me a week out, but I told them that we couldn't go without heat that long, so they bumped it up for a couple of days.

The techs came out the first time but realized that our units are on top of our house, so they rescheduled for someone with a ladder truck to come out. He came out and he changed off the thermostat, but within a couple of days, it quit working again. So he came out and went up on the roof and said that it was the computer that was in the system. He ordered the part and he came out the next day and put it in, and it has been working fine. The contractors sent out by American Home Shield were great.

I submitted a plumbing claim with them and the experience I had was not great at all. First, it took me a long time to get anybody on the phone. And then, the plumber that came by couldn’t do the job. They thought that I didn’t have an access hole. So, they had to come back and I had to show them the access hole. When they tried to do the job, they told me I was missing parts, which I wasn’t missing. Now, they said that in order for them to complete the job, they will have to charge me $400. I didn’t understand that. I feel like I wasted my money for that deductible. I should not even deal with them.

I had another one for my wife's rental property where they sent out a HVAC guy due to a problem with the ductwork. He claimed that he couldn’t do it because the ductwork is in a bad shape due to animals in the attic. There are no animals in the attic and the ductwork is just old. He bailed out on the job and we couldn’t get anything done. My dad had the same problem, too. The contractor went over there for plumbing but said that they couldn’t do the job. I called American Home Shield and was hoping that the guy could do it, so I didn’t waste my deductible. But that’s what it’s coming down to.

Updated on 03/13/2019: This is an update on my previous review. I'm sorry to say things went from bad to worse. After over an HOUR on hold on 3/11/19, I spoke to a supervisor named June who told me that there was an authorization on file to replace all three faucets. I was pleasantly surprised, although not sure why no one called me to inform me. The following day, June called me back and left me a message stating that she "misunderstood" the authorization, and it is, in fact, to replace only one faucet. Are you kidding me? From not calling back, to the endless holds, to the negligent selection of contractors, and, now, to making a representation and essentially taking it back. This is the worst and most unprofessional company I have encountered.

Original Review: On 3/4/2019, the company that AHS sent to our home to repair a leaky sink arrived at our house. The technician was not only unable to fix the problem, but, in the process of unsuccessfully trying to remove the handles on the sink, the plumber damaged the handles to the point that they now need to be replaced. He caused damage without ever even working on the underlying problem. When he saw that the handles were not removing, it would have been both professional and standard conduct to discontinue what he was doing, call for assistance or let us know that, if he continues to try to remove the handle, he may damage it. He did none of the foregoing.

The company and AHS offered to replace the one handle with a builders grade handle. Replacing one faucet in a bathroom that has two sinks and a bathtub with matching handles is not an adequate or reasonable solution. Certainly, we cannot have different bathroom hardware in the same bathroom. Through the negligence of the plumbing company in their services, and AHS's negligence in selecting a sub-professional company with terrible reviews, we are in a worse position than we were before we called AHS and before the plumber came to our home.

The appropriate solution is for AHS to replace the bathroom hardware on both sinks and the bathtub so that it all matches. I have called AHS 3 times and was told that someone would call me back. No one has to date. The plumbing company is also not responding. I am currently on hold with AHS - it's been 31 minutes. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I'm at the point where I'm preparing to file for arbitration.

Once the issue popped up again, AHS said that they only guarantee work for 60 days and I would need to file another claim. THREE claims for the same issue is robbery. Oh, and when I called to discuss, the representative would not let me speak to his supervisor and told me "they shared the same opinion on the matter". I am a single woman who purchased this to keep my house/appliances protected over the years and had them come out maybe 5-6 times over the years. This last incident set me over the edge because all I needed was for my pilot to be lit on my water heater. The water heater was replaced 8 years (by American Home Shield) ago and the nice service tech warned me that whoever installed it didn't do it to code and when it needs to be replaced American Home Shield won't cover it. When I called American Home Shield about it trying to make sure it would be covered it took six weeks of back and forth to get no answer.

This is the second time American Home Shield contracted out workers that did the cheapest fix, and again not to code. The first time was for my heater which then I got a fine for the local gas company. Last but not least cancelling my policy. I have cancelled my policy 4 weeks ago and was told it would be cancelled and an email/phone confirmation confirming it along with a prorated check for the month that was not used. I have called twice and have to constantly call and follow up. There are notes in my account but no one is putting the paperwork through, just pushing the paperwork in circles. This company used to be great years ago. As many people have told me, "You're better off saving your $1,000 a year for a just in case, than have to deal with the aggravation of this bogus warranty company."

Call AHS. They dispatch tech, the outside unit was low on Freon, cost $400 (service charge+Freon=$475). This same scenario has repeated every winter since costing a total of $2375 so far. Each time a different company and still none could find a leak. This year when the new technician diagnosed it, he said it was the inside unit which was leaking (never opened it up) and the unit was going to be condemned...then he said he forgot his paperwork and would send info to AHS.

3 days pass, call AHS Rep said they have no documentation that he was here. Husband explained that we are currently have no heat and it’s 35 degrees outside. AHS rep attempted to contact Technician. Being Sunday he didn’t answer. AHS claims Tech has 48 hrs to send paperwork and stuttered when ask to clarify the 48 hrs in which he had to do this (he was here Thursday morning). Today is Monday morning. Currently waiting for a response from AHS. I feel as though I am being taken advantage of, I cannot continue to receive $400+ electric bills NOR can I continue to fill this unit with $300 Freon that will leak from an unknown location.

I had a leak in front of the house, outside my mobile home. I thought it was a pipe leak because I have a septic tank and I thought that it might have been from that. When the plumber came out, he went underneath and he said there was no leak. It was good, but it took a $75 deductible just to find that out. He thought it might be the septic, a sprinkling system that goes out throughout the yard, but it was coming from underneath the home. If I used the shower or if I used the washing machine, when it drained, it came out to the front. It was not going through the pipe, but he felt it underneath and he said it was running through the pipe when I drained it.

I submitted the claim with American Home Shield over the phone and the interaction I had with the claims representative was great. They were telling me the contractor would be dispatched out between 4:00 and 8 o'clock p.m., but it changed and they sent me another message that it would be between 5:00 and 9 o'clock p.m. It was a late time for a plumber to come out. It was dark and I didn't know how he would figure out what to do. But the guy was good. He looked through everything and it didn't take a matter of time. He did not waste any time.

I also had electrical problems where my bathroom electrical lines were not working. I put my dryer and plugged it in, and it must have blown the fuse. I wasn't getting either bathroom to work and I wasn't aware that the circuit breaker was off. That was one problem with the electrician and it cost me $75 for him to tell me, "Well, your breaker was off." We had where our heater wasn't working and it turned out that when the electrician was doing something, he had to start something off outside with the gas tank, the propane. They shut it off outside but didn't turn it back on, so my heating unit was not working. It was another $75 wasted. The tech came out to find out that the propane guy turned the gas off outside and that was why we couldn't get any heat. I wasted $75 each time that it could've been something fixed.

Our American Home Shield warranty was originally a one-year gift that the realtor presented to us when we bought the house. We liked it and we decided to keep it. However, their financial part is not good right now. This month, for some reason, we got billed and charged something extra after we had our call in for a service. We got charged for the $75 fee, which was fine, but we found another fee when we looked at our bank statement. It was 80 and some change, so I already notified the credit card company to contest it. I called American Home Shield and they had no record of it so something got mixed up there. Another issue I have is that, evidently, we had an increase in the first of the year. It would be nice to get a notification on an increase coming up for the new year since we’ve been a customer for quite a few years. Other than those issues, their service is good.

I made a claim on my appliances with American Home Shield. I read through the contract and it said that I could pay one deductible for all the appliances, so that was what I did. The main issue is with the washing machine. It had several problems. Number one, my daughter and I both thought that we smelled something burning as it was going through the cycle and also, it would not drain. So, it would go through the entire cycle and then I’d go to put it in a dryer and the water was still in the washer. Then the hot water didn’t come out of it as well. We also thought maybe it could be the dryer was smelling like it had a burning smell.

Then I had the microwave. It doesn’t cook like a normal microwave and it makes all these terrible noises. I didn’t think it was functioning properly which with microwave made me a little afraid about that. Then two of the four burners of my stove would just keep getting hot. There wasn’t a temperature regulation and that included the oven as well. Any time I put it over 400, it would just keep getting hot and everything burned. The first time I used it, I set off all the smoke alarms in my house. It was very scary.

The first time we called AHS, the technician was able to rule out that it wasn’t the dryer that had a burning smell and that it was a rubber piece in the washing machine. The tech then replaced the timer and he said that everything worked fine. Then the first load of laundry that I did, the water did not drain again. I immediately called back. The tech was able to fix the stove though or at least he replaced parts. I still don’t think it’s operating right. Also, he was not able to take care of the microwave because the only way he could access the parts was from the top and my house is older and there’s a façade up there that I have to remove so the tech can get to the top of it. I’m a little disappointed in that. I wish he would’ve said something when he first came out and I would’ve had that done.

I called back in January and it is now the middle of March and my washing machine still doesn’t work. I haven’t heard back from them from the second time they came out. They have told me that I need a new drain pump. I’m not 100% happy but they’re very nice though. Eric has been the same person that has come out and he was very polite. I’m just curious as to why it takes so long. They have to come out and assess the issue which I understand. Then he has to go back and order parts. But the first time, it was almost two weeks. They say they’re gonna be here between 8:00 and 2:00 but they come at 2:00. It has always been the latest time.

The coverage that I have with the home warranty is awesome. I do understand that they're trying to repair the item rather than replace it but I wish that it was more comprehensive. I am disappointed that I have to not only take days off to be at home just so that they can try to fix it, where if it was a replaced item or even if it was a used item if I called a repair place, they would come out and fix it that day. I feel like we’re having to jump through different hoops with AHS. I try to cut them a little bit of slack but I would like to have a functioning microwave and washing machine. My sister is very tired of me coming over to do my laundry there in her house.

There was a problem with my washing machine. I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim through the automated system over the phone. It was fairly easy doing that and it works for me. Also, the interactions I had with the techs were good. They were always professional. Definitely having a warranty with American Home Shield has been useful since I’ve had it. I will recommend them to others.

The dryer was making a weird noise. I made the claim with American Home Shield on the phone and the wait time to speak to an actual agent was a headache. I need the customer service to be a little expedited. You could do it online, but for someone like me who is a little more traditional or old school, I just get the phone and call somebody, and it is hard to get a hold of a representative. It is usually anywhere from a 10 to a 45-minute wait.

The interactions I had with the representative was fine but the call went to another country because I was having difficulty understanding. I said that I needed my dryer fixed and I told them what was going on, and they finally were able to get somebody. They called me and they had a work order on my schedule. It took a couple of days for them to come out, but it was fine and they did it on my schedule. Apparently, the bearings in the dryer went out, so the techs fixed the bearings. However, the next time I used the dryer, it started making noise again but double the noise, so the repair performance was a poor. I called the company back again and they had to come back out and fix it. They were able to make the final repairs on the second time and it is working fine now.

The contractor they sent out were from United Appliances Services. They worked with us on our time frame and they were on-time. They were very friendly and got right to work. Also, they were very conscientious of our belongings in the house and they explained what they did very well. They’re ordering a part and should be out this week.

I had an emergency where there was a leak on the back of my toilet and the water was coming out quickly. It happened around 9:30 at night and I immediately called American Home Shield. However, they told me they don’t do emergency service and that I have to call in the morning. When I couldn’t find someone to come out, I called them back that night and asked if they could get me someone first thing and they said they could. So, I just had to deal with the problem, and it was horrible. American Home Shield sent someone out the next morning and the guy was here at 8 AM. He was extremely professional. He rang the doorbell, introduced himself, looked at the problem and then told me what he was gonna do. He had the issue resolved within an hour and a half. He was great.

Overall, I’ve been happy with American Home Shield. The people have been professional and they contract with great companies. I just feel that in some situations, it’s kind of game-ish. American Home Shield is always trying to find ways out of covering things and paying for our claims. I don’t like that at all because I am dedicated to paying my bill every month. They take it out of my account. They covered my last claim and it was great but I had a situation with my AC where they didn’t cover many things. In addition to the $125 service call and the monthly $40 I pay them, I had to pay an additional amount because they found ways not to cover things. It cost me $500 including their $125 fee. I’m a new homeowner and that to me is really crappy. Those are things that should be discussed upfront. I’m not an AC professional, so I don’t know all the components of an air conditioning and what’s covered and not. Some things that were not covered were very costly and unexpected, and I felt would’ve been covered with having a home warranty.

I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield for our water heater. The website was user-friendly and I was able to find what I needed. It had a button that said, "Issue Claim," and I did it that way. It was easy and I was able to do it late at night. The website stated that I could expect to hear something within 24 hours. However, it was after a day and a half when I've heard back that the company Emergency Plumbing and Rooter would be coming out. Still, that was fine and was expected because it was late at night when I submitted the claim.

We had problems with our water heater where it was making loud sounds like explosions so the contractor company checked it. The guy was great and very professional. My husband was home, so he was able to talk to him, and he explained what he was going to be doing and how long it would take. He confirmed that we needed to have the water heaters changed out 'cause it was a possible issue that it could explode. So, both units were changed out and have been great since. I was very pleased with the service and that was a very positive experience. In fact, I've shared with several people my experience and how it's benefited us having American Home Shield.

When I signed with American Home Shield, I wasn't thinking about my water heaters. But it so happened that they covered it. If I wouldn't have had it, we would have had to pay for the full replacement of both. We had to pay for the plumbing portion as well, which was expensive. And if we had to pay for everything, it would have been triple that amount. So, having a warranty is very valuable. We've had American Home Shield for about a year and a half now and I plan to keep it. I highly recommend them too.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was very easy. But a year and a half ago, it was very difficult. I'd be put on hold for a good hour and a half, and it was like an endurance test to see if I could actually get it through. This time, I just got through and did not take that long at all. Speaking with their reps was good. They just ask me what the problem then tells me that they are gonna get such and such contractor to call me. Then the contractor calls and we set up a time.

The person that came out most recently from Service Giant was great. I had a problem with my garbage disposal. Then I also had a problem with my sump pump in the crawl space. It had been replaced a long time ago, when I first started with AHS, and it stopped. It broke and didn’t work anymore. There was a little bit of leak in addition to that. He was very professional and wanted to get my problems fixed. I've been with American Home Shield closer to three years now and they're doing well. I will tell everybody that they should have this home warranty because it's good to have.

I also kept having water sounds and all that kind of stuff. The company that was fixing it, couldn't fix it. Then AHS wound up calling Sears to come out and do it. It took a while for the washing machine to be fixed entirely and it wasn't a good experience. I wash every day since I have blankets. And if I couldn't wash, it was overall affecting the house with what was going on.

Water heater still leaking with no response from AHS - I contacted American Home Shield in mid February to report a leak in my water heater. They were quick in sending out a plumber to diagnose them the damage and the needed repairs. The plumber came out the following week and I was contacted by American Home Shield the next day. The voicemail I received from American Home Shield indicated that none of the repairs were covered. I immediately contacted American Home Shield and asked for another review of the plumber's recommendation. After the review I was told by the representative that she was able to get some of my repairs covered. American Home Shield covered a little over $400, my responsibility was over $1000. How is it that customers pay hundreds of dollars a year in monthly dues but when they need services American Home Shield pays little or nothing at all?

When the plumber visited my home, the first question I asked was does my water heater need to be replaced. The water heater is over 20 years old and I had already mentally prepared my mind that the answer was going to be yes and that I would incur out-of-pocket cost. To my surprise, the technician said that yes the heater was old but that it was in good working order and did not need to be replaced. He said that if I completed the recommended repairs that he suggested I would be in good shape with the heater. Therefore, I agreed to have the recommended services performed. The plumber returned on Thursday completed the repairs but indicated that the water needed to be turned off for 24 hours while the system was flushed. A different technician returned on Friday, turned my water back on and let me know that all of the repairs were completed and that the leaking issue resolved.

This turned out not to be the case. I returned home from traveling on Monday to be confronted by my neighbor alerting me that they were still experiencing issues at their home as a result of the leak from my water heater. I contacted the plumber immediately and received a visit at my home around 8:30 PM that evening. The technician found the source of the leak and indicated that the valve was corroded and should be replaced. However, later that evening around 915 I received a call from that same technician to inform me that per her manager, the resolution was to place a cap over the valve. She said that someone would be at my home the next day to place the cap.

After thinking about it through the night, I was very concerned that with the fact that the valve was corroded, placing the cap would only serve as a temporary solution and I would likely have to contact AHS in a few short months, incur another service fee, only to be told that the valve needs to be replaced. I contacted the plumber the very next morning and voiced my concern but I heard nothing back. I contacted American Home Shield that same day and voiced that same concern and indicated that I preferred a permanent fix even if I had to pay for it myself.

The American Home Shield representative said that he understood my concern, placed me on hold, and contacted the plumber. When he returned to the line, he indicated that the master plumber and the technician would be contacting me that day to make an appointment to come back to my home to take a look at the leak. The other interesting thing that happened while on the call is that the representative read the plumber's notes to me which indicated that my water heater would need to be replaced.

This was In total contradiction to the response I received when questioning the plumber about the need to replace the unit. I was never contacted as I was told by the plumber nor did American Home Shield follow up to ensure that I received a visit. It was not until Thursday evening that I received a visit from a plumber. The plumber was instructed not to bother me and that he was simply to place them on the valve without interrupting me. He indicated that since he saw my car in the driveway he decided to knock to let me know what he was doing. I asked if he was aware of the concerns that I’ve voiced regarding the and that I preferred a permanent fix. He was not aware. He placed them and left.

The cap did not resolve the leak and so on Sunday I contacted American Home Shield again. I explained the entire situation to the representative who documented my complaint said that she would out reach to the plumber and even provided me with a reference number. It is now a week later on Sunday, still no reply from the plumber, still no follow up from American Home Shield, and yes, the water heater is still leaking. I’ve reverted to placing down towels and a bowl to catch the leaking water.

I am more than disappointed in American Home Shield and the plumber. I am convinced that American Home Shield only contracts with vendors who they know will do patch up work and band aid repairs. They are very happy to take their customers money but do very little to ensure customers are taken care of especially in situations where customers complain of subpar, incomplete and unsatisfactory work on the part of their contracted vendors. At this point, I feel as though my only recourse is to find and hire a plumber outside of my home warranty. I will never refer anyone to American Home Shield. In fact I will warn everyone I can away from this company and I will not renew my contract when it expires in September.

We purchased a home in Florida in October 2019 and it came with warranty from American Home Shield (AHS). We just had our first claim and it was a TERRIBLE experience. Our air conditioner stopped working on Feb 23 and it was not fixed until March 7... 13 days!!! Totally unacceptable! AHS had to get the technician's report saying we needed a new compressor, then get the compressor purchase authorized. Then AHS ordered the compressor themselves instead of just letting the air conditioning company get it, that in and of itself added another 5 days just waiting for it to be delivered.

There was no sense of urgency from anyone at AHS. The customer service reps just told us what we wanted to hear, whether it was factual or not. We even asked for a call from a supervisor - was told "no supervisors on duty" - that a supervisor would call us within 24-48 hours. Did we ever get a call? NO. I would NOT, under any circumstances, recommend buying a home warranty from this company.

You can't talk about American Home Shield without the word "Fraud" coming up. In my latest go around with them, my torsion spring broke on my garage door. I have additional coverage for garage door openers. Thinking that since the spring was required for the garage door opener to operate that it would be covered, I called them to schedule a repair. They contacted a service technicians and within 2 days they came out. The service tech called for authorization and was denied because the spring was part of the "door" and not the opener.

Now being stuck with a non operational door, I had to get it serviced. The technician told me how much the repair would be, and I paid the full amount. I later receive a charge for my trade service call from AHS, even though they denied coverage. When calling them to complain, they said that since I used them to contact a technician, I still owed them the fee. So this company will charge you even though they deny claims. FRAUD. FRAUD. FRAUD!

Something broke under my faucet. It started off as the hot water popped off. After that, I had to get everything replaced at the bottom. The contractor that AHS sent out said that the part that they looked at had been broken off so they didn't cover it. My house was 20-something years old. My ex-husband tried to fix it and it broke off when he was trying to turn it. So, of course, they were saying that it was broken off so they wouldn't cover it. Nevertheless, the guy that came out was good. He fixed it but I ended up having to pay $225 out of pocket, plus the $100 that I had to pay American Home Shield. So far, the people that AHS have used were slow and some were terrible. In fact, when my refrigerator needed a compressor back during the early part of fall, I was without a refrigerator for three weeks.

Having a warranty on my property is very valuable. But with American Home Shield, there’s always an issue and I need to have somebody come out twice or they can’t seem to fix the problem. For example, the garage guy came out here and he had to change my garage door. He gave me a remote. I have two cars and it has to be standard to give me two remotes. But he said that I have to pay extra if I wanted it. Another time was when I was out without a stove for a month. The first guy who came out was really nice. He said he was gonna order some pieces, but I heard nothing. I called back and I was told that it was closed because he couldn’t fix it. I was having a dinner party then and I was stressing out about it. Then I got ahold of a local rep and he was excellent. He was Johnny-on-the-spot.

The last contractor who went here didn’t speak English very well so it was very difficult talking to him. When I asked him to look at my dishwasher, he came in, looked at it, cleaned the filter and then brushed off the top of the dishwasher. Then he said he cleaned the calcium off. I said that I've done that and I needed him to at least run the dishwasher. He said that there was nothing wrong with my dishwasher and left. He wanted me to sign the paperwork but I said that I won't sign it because he didn’t do anything. I called AHS and I complained, and got the reply that the contractor said it was a calcium buildup and that he cleaned it up, but I still have the same problem. Lastly, submitting a claim with American Home Shield on the phone is ridiculous. It takes no less than three hours on a usual call. I haven’t talked to somebody, and they put me on hold. There are other companies that do what AHS does and I would go to them.

But this time, I'm disappointed that I'm left to get my own fan. The ceiling fan is still not working and the company that came out said that the warranty company would cash it out and send me a check, which would cover the installation for them to come out and install a new one. But still, I have to contact Hunter to get a new fan.

I’ve been with AHS since 2009 and this was an isolated incident. Every time I've called before, they've always been awesome in taking care of things. The only other problem I had was I had a company that I paid to come out twice a year to do checks on the AC and the heater, and there was a problem with the AC. The company I use is not part of AHS and when AHS sent somebody out, they said it wasn't a problem. So, their technician had a difference of opinion than what mine did. APC Plumbing, the company that American Home Shield contracted for my plumbing claim, handled the service poorly. The technician they sent out was not knowledgeable at all. They told us the water supply line was bad and needed to be replaced. I called out an independent plumber and it was just a quarter-turn valve that was bad. It’s a $4 valve versus a $5,000 job. The people that AHS sends out to do these home service calls are apprentice people. They’re not licensed, masters-of-their-trades people. I got a 24-year-old that showed up to my house and he was supposed to be a licensed plumber but he’s an apprentice. I looked at him and there was no way in hell that this kid knows what the hell he was doing.

I didn’t bring it to American Home Shield's attention though because, in the past, when we bring it to their attention, they have nothing to say except they go by what the contractor said. Also, when I ask for a different plumber, there are only two plumbers, so it’s the lesser of the two evils. This entire thing is not the first time that it has happened and it’s a continuing saga. Whatever home warranty company I go with next when this one expires, I go through the same saga with them. It seems like it’s a thing with all home warranty companies these days.

I was having a problem with the toilet. I saw water on the floor so I thought I had a leaky toilet. I filed a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and got the automated system. Then, someone called me back and I explained what I saw, that I thought it was a leak, and they said they would get back to me and let me know who was coming out. They followed-up and Dave & Sons Plumbing called and introduced themselves. The good thing about it was, when they sent me a notice that it was their company, they sent a picture of the actual service person, so I knew who was at my door. I thought that was the best thing in the world, so you know who you’re dealing with.

It was excellent, very pleasant, and very professional. The guy came in and checked the toilet. He couldn’t figure out what was going on at first and then we kept hearing this funny noise and he thought as well that it was a leak in the toilet because he said it makes that kind of noise. But when he fixed the toilet, we kept hearing it. He couldn’t find it. We thought maybe it would have been behind the wall or something like that. He checked everything, without tearing down the walls. We even checked the security alarm system. He took the batteries out of the smoke alarm but it wasn't that. He was very, very thorough even though he was there trying to figure out what was going on. He reported it back to American Home Shield and they said they don’t come out for noises.

We finally figured out the noise but it wasn’t what normally we thought it would have been. I would recommend American Home Shield to a friend. My only thought was as a home owner, I don’t know what noises are. I don’t know where they come from. We just know that there was a consistent noise. I would think that they would have sent someone to try to locate the source of the noise, to find out if it’s something that they do handle or not because I have no clue. But I was not dissatisfied with the experience.

I am involved with several properties and I've used my parents' service persons, but they are all going to the wayside, so I have to rely on home warranties. American Home Shield has been very good. My heater wasn't working and the process of submitting the claim with American Home Shield was easy. They called and got the information, then they contacted Crispy Air & Heating in an instant. Crispy Air & Heating sent me a text when they were gonna be coming out and they gave me a window. They were on time and were courteous. I live in a remote area, but they were able to find the house and service the unit and get it going, although there was some difficulty and they had to get parts.

However, I'd like to see American Home Shield be more consistent with the same guy. That was the only issue because even though they took great notes, they were reading from what the other guy did. I wanna stay with the same person. There are two that are good and they seem to know the unit well, so those are the two that I like being out there if they are gonna work on it. I would recommend the service, nevertheless. If you have any difficulties, the key thing is communication and as long as there is communication going, I don't have a problem.

American Home Shield is a fraudulent insurance company that collects high premiums and denies claims as a matter of practice. Once a client has a few claims, they increase premiums and deny all claims in an effort to get you to cancel your contract since they are not allowed to drop you. Our sump pump failed 2-3 years ago. We put in claim with American Home Shield (AHS), their contractor came out and replaced it and they covered it. Recently, the sump pump magnetic float failed so it was running constantly. We put in a claim with AHS, they sent out a contractor who said it needed to be replaced. He called it in to AHS, and this time, they denied the claim stating it was not covered because it was supposed to be ground water only and there was condensation from the heater/AC going into it.

When I followed up with AHS, they claimed the contractor told them it failed prematurely failed due to the water PH being highly acidic from the heater condensation. She stated the contractor had actually tested the PH. I spoke to the contractor and he told me he never tested the PH of the water and only told AHS the float had failed and never claimed to know why it failed. So - they basically lied and tried to lay blame on the contractor and alter "his" report.

Regardless of why the float failed, the true issue is that AHS put the sump pump in themselves and now they are saying they will not cover it. I elevated the claim with them based on the fact if there was an issue with the sump pump their approved contractor installed, it is on AHS and not me. They then said they were going to send out the original contractor who installed the sump pump to get a second opinion. I asked how a second opinion would make any difference and she stated they would then put the blame on the contractor. I am paying AHS and they are putting the customer in the middle - I am paying AHS and they are responsible for their contractor's work and educating them on what is and isn't covered.

Next, the original contractor came out. He explained to me that he has been replacing sump pumps for AHS for many years and only in the last couple years did they suddenly start denying them based on the "ground water" claim. He stated the set up for our sump pump is standard and how most sump pumps he sees are set up. He stated that the amount of water coming from the heater/AC unit was minimal and would not affect the overall PH of the ground water and that even if it did, the sump pump/magnet was plastic based which would not be affected by the PH anyway. AHS was also claiming there was condensation coming from our tankless hot water heater which he said was not true - there is an emergency release valve coming off the hot water heater but nothing comes out of it unless there is an emergency. This "ground water" clause is just another way for AHS to deny a claim.

I spoke to AHS today and they told me they are denying the claim due to the "ground water" claim. They completely changed their tune that high ph/water caused the pump to prematurely fail and are now say that it failed from "old age!?" The sump pump was installed less than 3 years ago. They take no responsibility for the fact that they installed the sump pump. How can they not cover something they installed themselves??

This is a reoccurring theme. They state they cover appliances in the garage but when we put in a claim for our refrigerator in the garage, they denied the claim based on it failed not from normal wear and tear but because of conditions to it being in the garage. That make no sense - if they are going to cover appliances in the garage, it is going be in the conditions of a garage! They ordered the wrong part for our dishwasher and wouldn't reorder the correct part claiming they do not guarantee color matching so my dishwasher was going to be 2 different colors.

We have been customers with AHS for approximately 8 years and during this time, the monthly premiums have increased while the coverage has decreased. We should have canceled years ago. I feel like I am in the movie The Rainmaker where I am dealing with a fraudulent insurance company who charges high premiums but denies the claims as a matter of practice and forces customers to fight for the coverage we have already paid for.

His excuses ranged from "something coming up" to it being a "hectic week". This is not my problem. I hope I can show the text messages as it just shows how horrible and poor the customer service was. When I spoke with an AHS representative asking to cancel him and send someone new after he bailed on me the second time, I was told that couldn't be done.

I was told since this was the first time I made them aware of the situation, I had to wait again. Wait again until he cancelled again, which he ultimately did four times in total. I told the representative I can send them the text messages showing how unprofessional the technician was but they said it was not necessary, just give him another chance. We have had to deal with AHS for 2 issues: 1. Washer. 2. Garage door. Let me start by saying that their support is one of the worst ever! They never ever pick up the call and chat is as slow as one can imagine. Horrible experience to start with. 1. Washer - When we called in to complain about our washer, it took us 7 calls to reach a specialist. When we explained them our issue, they assigned MAJOR HOME APPLIANCE to perform the repair. The specialist came to our home, and was very rude. When we asked him what the issue was, he said, "Let me do my job and you won't even understand, so don't bother asking." He mentioned a part needs replacement and ordered it. Next time he came, he replaced it and left, without even explaining us the issue.

After 2 days, the washer stopped working again so we had to deal with AHS again! Called them multiple times but nothing helped. Finally, we got ahold of someone from chat option and after arguing with them for more than 10 hours, they assigned another company - NANA SERVICES. These guys are awesome as they came home within a day and were kind enough to explain us the issue. Not to forget, they mentioned the 1st company replaced the wrong part! They also offered to talk to AHS and tell them that repairing would be most costlier than the new machine. They agreed AHS only thinks of replacement of parts and nothing in regards to customer satisfaction.

    2. Garage door - Unfortunately, our garage door stopped working after a few days of washer issue. We tried to chat a few times and finally got hold of a specialist. They assigned ACE's GARAGE DOOR REPAIR AND INSTALLATION. The person came to check out our garage door and mentioned that he would need to change the whole assembly of garage (drums, spring, bearings, etc.). He told us he would charge $1500. To his surprise, we had already called in 3 other companies and got a quote on the issue.

All 3 companies mentioned issue was with drums and spring bearing only, and it would cost around $175! When we told this to the person from ACES, he said, "Okay I will repair for $300." We were like, "Why did you even lie in 1st place." He gave crap reason that I thought issue is with motor and the assembly. We then told him, "We don't want you to work on this" so he left and told his company that we agreed to order bearings and a few other parts, which we never ever did! When we called them to complain, they apologized and would make sure that our garage door gets repaired without unnecessary charges. The person was supposed to come again at 8 am but came at 3 pm! When he came, he mentioned he will only repair the spring bearings which need dis-assembly of many things. When we told him we know the issue and there is no need for dis-assemble, he said, "I don't want to work for you" and left.

We then contacted AHS again and they didn't even agree to re-assign to another company. All they do is assign the issue to a crap company and then the problem is all ours. I would highly recommend going against these guys as it's a huge hassle and waste of time as well as money! I genuinely hope people ready my review so that you don't have to go through the same ** as we did.

There was a leak in the plumbing underneath our sink. We filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. There’s always a long wait time, like at least 30 minutes. But once I got through the process was pretty simple and easy. The first guy was very professional. The second guy that actually put the part in, was very quiet, but he did excellent work. Everything’s working okay.

AHS usually has someone come out and fix things right away. With the air conditioner guys that I had last year, I like one company more than the other. They were good to resolve any issues. I had an issue with the first company. The guy had said, “Okay, we’ll call you back in one or two days.” But they never called back and I didn’t like that. Right there over the phone, this girl called them and resolved everything beautifully.

The user-friendliness of the American Home Shield's website is fine overall and I had an easy experience submitting a claim online. However, I didn't have any expectation on when a contractor would be out until I spoke with Joe's Mechanical. I have a very old heat pump unit and there was a series of things. The first thing that we had Joe's Mechanical come out and do under American Home Shield's behalf was placing a hard start kit. The dual run capacitor wasn't enough to actually keep the compressor running. They came out and took care of that. They were great and I had a very good experience with them. Then we later found out that there was Freon leak that was what really pushed it over the edge. They said it was a big enough issue that an upgrade is warranted. Once I got linked up with the upgrade department, everything was very smooth. Overall performance of the heat pump is now outstanding.

American Home Shield has been generous and we got a lot of value out of the warranty. The fact that we now have a brand new, efficient unit that's heating and cooling our home is just priceless, especially considering the price that we paid for it. So if you're buying a new home, I couldn't recommend going through American Home Shield enough.

We own a couple of homes and we have American Home Shield warranties. When our rental house in California had an electrical problem, they sent Unified Contractors and the timing was very slow. Half of the house was without electricity and there is a pregnant lady in that house. I don’t know how uncomfortable that made her life but they waited a week or so for the contractor to get there. That took too long in my opinion. It seemed that American Home Shield could not find a local technician. Meanwhile, I know that there’s an HVAC school one town away, so I can’t understand why they couldn’t find a contractor. It was an electrical issue and I was assuming that HVAC system is related to electrical work.

Then, I got a text and I was told at first that the contractors would be there within 48 hours. The next thing I received is a text message saying that they would be out. I assumed they were gonna be out there within the next day so I told my tenants that. That was Friday but it was the following week that they got there. So, it was poor communication or miscommunication and they were very slow to react.

There are pros and cons on both processes of submitting claims to American Home Shield, and I like doing it over the phone more. There's a paper trail when it's done online. But customer service wise, it might be better talking to somebody on the phone and at least taking generic answers. The representatives have been great but the service providers are the ones that are in question. For example, I’ve had at least 10 issues come out to repair my refrigerator and every time somebody shuts my refrigerator, I’ve had spare parts. So, I literally started collecting my parts from my refrigerator. I’ve also had American Home Shield send someone out for my stove once.

For the most, it seems like I ended up with spare parts and not like, “Oh, we took a part out. We replaced it with a new part.” Hence, I have the spare part and that are more like extra parts. It's the kind of deal which is “You don’t need this anymore.” One guy communicated that it’s just unnecessary but a couple of times, I just found pieces when they left. And worst, I’m paying for the services to come out and they’re not even depiction for one of the problems that I’m having, which is vacuum seal. So, I’m not a very happy customer. Overall, while I would rate the technicians low, the concept of American Home Shield is great. It’s awesome to have that comfort.

I bought a new home and the seller included a one-year warranty with American Home Shield. I got it through my Realtor and she said that they always have this. She likes to add a warranty, which is great. But as a buyer, you're not told what that entails, that you have to pay a $75 service charge with it every time you use it. Instead of waiting another week as the contractor would not schedule until AHS orders and the furnace arrives at their place. I choose to install the furnace with 3rd party contractor. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the tech was out the next day. He came in and set up his ladder. He was looking for the control or switch up in the unit itself that prevents the garage door from sliding back down. He readjusted some stuff and had me hit the button to try and open and close it, and it was fixed.

However, I’m a little upset with AHS right now. It has to do with the pool heater. A specific policy was purchased by the sellers of our home before we bought it. Part of why we bought this home was because they were gonna add the AHS warranty to cover the pool heater. It is not working now. AHS sent out their repairman to diagnose it and to fix it or have it replaced. That gentleman said it needs to be replaced.

AHS has now come back and said they don’t cover this type of pool heater. We bought this house and spent $600,000 in part because AHS was to cover the heater. AHS has misread the contract having to do with heat pump pool heaters and they have incorrectly applied the provisions of the policy. I have asked them now since they’ve denied the claim, to provide me with a write-up because I’m gonna sue them or I’m gonna arbitrate against them, having to do with this. They blew the policy and didn’t interpret it correctly. The garage repair person was fine but I am very dissatisfied with the product that AHS offers and their ability to do their job. They need to be reported to the state insurance commissioner. Their business practices are deceptive and fraudulent.

My water heater was leaking. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and their claims process was smooth. The plumber from their contractor, Hers & His Plumbing, Florida, was very professional. He came on time and finished his job. He replaced the water heater for me because the old one couldn't be fixed. We also had some additional issues apart from changing the water heater. There were some valves that were broken, so he fixed them as well. He did a great job.

One day, my wife had pressed the garage door and it went halfway up to stop. I came out to take a look at it and the chain was loose and hanging down. We found the sprocket on the floor and apparently, the shaft of the drive sprocket on the garage door opener itself had worn down and snapped off. I submitted my claim to American Home Shield over the phone and my experience with their rep has been nothing but pleasant. Their contractor, Edelen Door & Windows, came out and replaced the shaft of the drive sprocket, put it back in and everything worked fine. They did it quickly and professionally. They were excellent. I'm very happy with their performance. It's been a good experience. I've had The Appliance Guys for a refrigerator and they've been excellent as well. They were professional, courteous and very knowledgeable.

We have American Home Shield for a couple of years now. I've had two other home warranty that I've been unhappy with. I have top line appliances. For instance, my refrigerator is $8,000. They would only give me $500 if it went out on me and couldn't be repaired. I changed to American Home Shield because they understand and they know that I have topnotch appliances. They may not cover the entire cost, but they cover a lot more than any other home warranty that I've talked to.

It was unbelievable and I was very surprised. A guy from Efficient Air called me while I was at work and told me he was on his way to our house. After about half an hour, he showed up there. He went inside, turned the AC on, walked upstairs, and fixed the unit. Then he came down, called me, and told me that everything was done before he left. The guy performed the service excellently and the unit has been working well since then. I appreciate that.

I previously had AHS with another house that I owned in the past then I added it on the newly built that I bought. Recently, our compressor kept coming on and going off. I Googled it and it said that wasn't normal so I contacted AHS and it was my first time having them to come out and fix anything. They sent Air Smith Pro out and the technician told me it was some valve that had gone wrong on the unit. He had to order it in for it to be replaced but he was able to put my heat on emergency heating so I could continue to be warm in here.

When the technician came back to fix it a week later, he said that he was sorry that the company quoted me a price for another house. They told me it would cost $1,500 and that was what they provided American Home Shield. The company said that I needed a certain refrigerant and the tech said that the one in my unit is the updated one. They also said I needed some kind of locking cap that was gonna cost me $150 and that's code in our area. Come to find out, I already have the locking cap on my system. It turned out that it only cost me $800 and that was a tremendous difference to be getting wrong. He was very professional and I appreciated all his help in telling me that they quoted me the wrong price. Overall, I'll recommend AHS.

The claims process was very simple. I could do it anywhere because I have a cellphone. The contractor that came out from JG Mechanical was polite and very knowledgeable. He gave me a call the night before and told me he'd come out in the morning if that was okay and I agreed. He came out at 8:30. He went around back, took a look at it and evaluated the situation, and told me he needed to replace the fan motor.

He was trying to get back that day, but we had a snowstorm. He contacted me within four hours and told me he'd have to come out the next day because of the storm. He came out the following morning around 11:00 and took care of my heat pump in two and a half hours. He was a nice guy and I was very happy. I just filed another claim and I had a GE technician came out today to fix the dryer. He couldn't have been nicer, and also very knowledgeable. I have been having good experiences with the coverage and the people that AHS has been sending out. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to other people.

I normally submit my claims with American Home Shield by phone, however, the hold times are long. And when I try to do it online, it keeps telling me to call. It takes me through the steps, but I have not been able to use it to submit anything. The website could be a little more user-friendly. I submitted a claim for my washer. Every time it gets through a spin cycle, I would have to go out and stop the cycle and then turn the machine off and shift it over to a spin and rinse cycle for it to drain the water out of the clothes. AHS sent Sears out about two months before because the washer was doing that, but they couldn't find the issue. The issue wouldn't repeat when the guy was there. But after a couple of months, whatever was wrong became evident and it showed up when the technician was there.

I've had two contractors come out. They called me as I was promised before they came. They were considerate, timely and they communicated with me what they were doing. The one who couldn't find the issue stayed a while and ran a couple of cycles and when he couldn't get the washer to duplicate itself, he reminded me that the coverage was good for that particular service call for 60 days and if I had the problem to repeat, I could contact them again, which I did. We missed the second technician the first time. He had called us and he waited a bit if we would get home timely, but my husband didn't make it and we had to reschedule it. The reschedule went fine and he was able to find the issue with the washer. The machine is being replaced and I've already purchased it. I just need to fax or email AHS the receipt.

But it was down for about a month and a half because when the compressor was sent, not all of the right parts were sent so we ended up reordering some other parts for it. But other than having to wait for parts to come in, he did a fine job. Besides, the delivery of the parts wasn’t his issue.

I submitted my claim online and it took about a week to dispatch the contractor out. The contractor was from Arizona Value Appliance and Repair and they were professional. However, they didn't fix it. It was a Sub-Zero appliance, and I don't think that they were qualified to work on Sub-Zero appliances. The other claim is I have a HVAC unit that's been out since August. I've had three different companies out and probably eight to 10 different service appointments, and it still hasn't been fixed. I don't know if the subcontractors AHS were hiring are incompetent or if it's just an issue with the machine.

Sometimes, if I held the button, it might stay down. It was a real nuisance. I called in to submit a claim to American Home Shield. The gentleman that came out from Superior Garage Doors had done some work for us before and we were very pleased with him. He's very personable and professional. He knew exactly what the problem was. My husband said that he replaced the garage door's eyes and worked on some wiring that may have come loose or partially broken.

Sometimes getting ahold of anyone from AHS to speak and ask a question is very hard. Also, I get frustrated once in a while because things that we are under the impression were covered are not and that’s a little disturbing. But when I had an issue with one of their contractors who caused more problems than what he fixed, I called and told AHS not to ever let him in my house again and they never did. Original review: Several years ago we had only great service from this company for a property in CA. But the past few years have been terrible. The few times we have called for service, we have had someone come out and after paying our $75 they tell us the repair itself is not covered for whatever reason. So we paid the deductible and then bought a new appliance! Now they raised our monthly fee without any notice. I found this out by looking at my credit card statement.

To make matters even worse, when I called and got nowhere with the customer service agent and asked to speak to a manager I was out on hold forever and gave up after 1 hour. I did this twice so this is standard practice for them. They tell you they will get a manager and then put the phone on hold until you give up and hang up. The customer service agents are like robots who clearly read the set answers they have been given. Save your money and put it towards your new appliance or repair rather than paying for both of them and this ridiculous insurance!

American Home Shield sent a cool guy but the first thing that he told me was that the warranty doesn’t cover noise. It didn’t make sense. It was a hum and there was something that was causing that noise. So, he took a part out and he sprayed WD-40 on it. I asked him if he would vacuum the dust and he told me that he wouldn’t. No sooner than he left, the same intense noise started, so I called back and he came. He told me that it was the dryer’s pulley and he replaced it and so far, so good. I asked him though why he didn’t just do it in the first place and he told me that they had to do what was left first. That sounded cheap and wasting my time but other than that, he fixed the dryer.

I had another claim, which was for my icemaker, and I asked the repair place if their team comes out equipped to fix or replace anything. They said that they would come out and diagnose the issue first and then if it’s not broken, then they won’t come back. I don’t like that because I could guarantee that the ice machine doesn’t work and then I would have to call back again and waste more hours. Then they would come out and replace the ice machine mechanism. Their subcontractors do the least that they can and then they’ll come back and that’s way too time-consuming. However, I have a problem with American Home Shield's new policy change wherein I have to pay $75 before they come out there. For the 14 years I've been with them, I've always paid. They said other people didn’t pay before so now, the people that did pay were responsible for paying upfront, which I do not like because when I call and it’s already paid, I gotta wait two days for them to come out there.

I don’t like the fact that right now, I’ve had issues with five other things in my house. I’m paying $75 a month but for each of those five things, they’re not covered. If I have an issue with the refrigerator, that same $75 is not gonna cover the plumber. It covers differently. I don’t like how they do things now. I’m still paying a monthly fee and I also have to pay each individual differently.

When I was starting to work with AHS, I specified to the salesman the items that I want to be covered. He told me it was no problem. I also paid extra for my pool system which includes the heater, the pump and the filter. Then my heater wasn't working. I thought it was not a big deal because I knew I have insurance and I was covered.

I called American Home Shield and they sent a technician. But the tech cannot come on Friday. We waited until Monday. The gentleman came over and he acted like a doctor. He was just visual. He took the cover out and said it was leaking all over. He said it was beyond repair. He said he had to talk with the insurance and that they would have to decide what have to be done. I asked why it was leaking. He said that it was normal for the units to leak. They overheat at one point and because of the time, the gasket gets out. He said that it's too expensive to be replaced and it's too much money on repairs so they would usually just change it. The unit is about $2,000 for someone to try and change it.

Then, somebody called me around 5 o'clock and told me that I was not covered. Also, they couldn't change the unit because it's what the report says. That is the most bogus thing I have heard in my lifetime. I asked the rep to explain to me but she said, "Well, I don't know how to explain, I'm not the technician, but the report says your water in the pool, the chemical in your water pool was unbalanced." I asked to speak with a supervisor. Twenty minutes later, I was told that the supervisor couldn't take my call and that he would call me later on. Yesterday until now, nobody has called me.

Also, I have a professional company who cleans my pool. So it's totally bogus to tell me the chemical are unbalanced and that the heater broke because of that. I've been in the swimming pool for the past years and if these things happen the way they say, it has to be tremendous. If I get into the water and the chemical is unbalanced to that percentage, my skin has to be burned by now. I pay for my insurance and I want to be responsible. I want to be covered for what I pay, not to pay for something they don't cover. On top of that, I have to pay again to get a second opinion. At this point, it's unspeakable the way how American Home Shield handles business and gives false information to the people.

We keep using American Home Shield. This is my third house with them. I have two houses with them right now, and we’ve had our other house with them. The contractors they've sent were really knowledgeable, really quick, and very nice. They were really good contractors that they sent out. We had a leak underneath our kitchen sink, and it was flooding down through the basement ceiling. It was a mess. I called AHS and they asked me for my deductible, and they sent someone out. They asked me to turn the water off to that area, so the damage won’t get any worse, which is only smart to do, and then the tech came right out and fixed it. He had to replace all of the underneath valves. He changed them from the old style to the new style, so it wouldn’t happen again right away. He cleaned it all up and made sure it was working perfectly before he left, and we haven’t had a problem since.

American Home Shield is very convenient and worthwhile. They offer more for a good price. When we bought the house eight years ago, we got a warranty and stuck with them a couple years, but they didn't cover the HVAC. And so, we switched to American Home Shield, which covered it, and the price was not that much different. Recently, they sent A-US Air Conditioning of Texas for their spring tune-up offer on the HVAC system. I usually do my claims online and then they call, or I get a text, and they're right on the ball. And, usually, the next day, the actual provider will call or text and then let us know they're on their way. All have been great with the service providers.

I've been trying to communicate with them to have someone come back and patch the sheetrock, and we finally got the ball rolling. Yesterday, I had somebody call me. It sounded like some offshore or some answering service and I can barely understand the person, but he's with AHS. Reliable is amazing and I love them. I had a leak from the pressure relief valve on my hot water heater. It was full of water that was getting dumped out onto the side of the house. I logged into American Home Shield's portal, it asked what the category of the repair was, then they did everything automatically. It generated a text messaging service once I submitted the claim that says, “Okay, your claim has been submitted, and we are contracting it out.” Then, AHS sent me another claim with the information of who they contracted with the name of the company and the contact information.

Reliable called me back right away and the woman that I spoke with was extremely helpful in working with my work schedule. She made the appointment for a time that was convenient for me and gave me a window. I got regular text message update from American Home Shield giving me the status of the order and the appointments. The plumber called when he was about 15 minutes away to give me a heads-up and came towards the beginning half of the window. He did a quick little assessment, listened to all of my concerns and fixed everything the same day. He serviced my hot water heater and had all the parts needed in the truck. The plumber did a beautiful job.

All of the reviews that I read about American Home Shield echoed the same sentiment that I had, which is that the claims process was really wonderful. They handled everything really great and kept me informed. I was really thrilled with the outcome.

I told him the problem, and he looked at the furnace and said something that would take care of the problem. And true enough, they took care of our problem. He said that they would be out within the next week, and they were out within two days with the part and replaced it. So, I'm very happy with that. We also used them about two years ago when our washer and dryer went out. I have nothing to complain about or else we would no longer have them or we'll not be paying them money anymore. We bought this home about three years ago and the party that was selling it had bought the policy and it worked fine for us. And I would recommend AHS to other people.

Since I've been with American Home Shield, which is about 12 years now, they've done excellent work and I've been satisfied. I called when I had an issue with my thermostat and told their rep that I didn't have heat. My thermostat wasn't working right. The rep did the job and the technicians came right by the time they said they're gonna come. They had put a new thermostat again. But I complained that it wasn't working right. It would say one thing but when I took the temperature around the house, it would say another thing. I had to turn it up really high before the heat even started even to work. I never had that problem before.

My son was there when the technicians came and he told them what the problem was for me. The thermostat seems like it's a little better but I still have to turn it up a bit. I got a thermostat that is supposed to do the whole house. This thermostat they gave me, when I put it on 75, the whole house still has a chill in it. Now, I have to turn it up way up on 78 or 77 before I feel the warmness start coming out and hold there. It goes from heat to cool really quickly. You say 75 degrees when it comes on 75. It seems like it comes on a few seconds then it goes back off. Other than that, American Home Shield should keep up the excellent work. I'm gonna tell friends that they need to jump on board with them really quickly.

I try to go online when I submit my claims to American Home Shield, but it doesn't work a lot of times. When I don't have my contract number, I should be able to put in my address, but it doesn't, and I don't know why. So I have to wind up calling them. Once I get through and talk to a representative, they are always really nice. And if I have an issue, it gets worked on. Everybody there was really helpful and understanding of the situation that I'm going through. Even though I had to wait for the process, they apologized to me and they really tried to make me feel comfortable with the situation that I was going through.

The lock on my oven wasn't working properly. It would show that it was on on the stove, but it really wasn't on. But when the tech came out, he said it was a whole bunch of other stuff going on, which I didn't even know. He said he ordered the parts, and once the parts came in, he would be able to fix the parts. When he came out this last time, he said he got the parts and he tried to put the parts in but it was not repairable. This was because mice got into the oven, and that's not covered under my contract, so it's not gonna get fixed. Even though the stove wasn't covered under the warranty, the tech at least fixed the stove so I could still utilize it until I'm at a place where I can get it replaced. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. They are the best. There's the copay but it is more than worth it because it is so expensive to get appliances repaired.

AAA Brands Appliance came out and the service was handled fine. The guy didn’t find anything wrong. He checked out the inside and the outside, and he didn’t know why the appliance was not cooling like it was supposed to so he checked everything over and then it was working.

If only AHS could fix their website, I won’t have to call in. If it was plumbing, it should have at least toilet or shower in it, but it just said plumbing, ‘cause contractors could come out here and find out it's something that they don’t cover. I've had that happen before and I ended up paying $75 more for them not getting what needed to be done. But the technicians that AHS sends have been very professional. I like the whole American Home Shield, but it's very often hard to get somebody to come over and at the times that are convenient for the customer. If you work, you're really in trouble because none of these guys work on the weekend. The second thing is that I always seem to need an upgrade, and they say it's not supposed to cost me anything. I pay $70 a month, and then, my issue with the heating still costs me $2,700 out of pocket. So, I'm not happy about that. I had an air handler replaced in September, and that cost me $3,000. It's not complete coverage.

Sometimes the contractor don't call me back right away. They're supposed to call you in a 24-hour period, and I've had this experience where they called me randomly, and if I missed them, I couldn't get them afterwards. It was like I was chasing them. It's not conducive to get somebody to come and it's painful. But overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. Everybody should have them, especially if you have an older home.

I've had American Home Shield for a long time and I usually got a good response from them when I needed to use them. When my heater was not working, I called late one evening, and the following day they sent somebody from A & R Complete. He was here in good time and went right to work after I explained that the heater would try to kick in but the blower never did put out. He diagnosed it, replaced the main circuit board, and he was done in no time.

There was one time where I had to replace my own water heater. It was an emergency and I never got reimbursed with it because I never got it inspected after the installation, even though I had a licensed plumber install it. The plumber is my neighbor, so he just came over, took the old one out, put the new one in, and everything's up to code. But American Home Shield never wanted to honor that. They said it has to be a legit company. Since I'm not gonna go around their back and get fake papers signed, I let it go.

Other than that, the coverage AHS provides is adequate. They cover all the major things like the refrigerator, the stove, the air conditioner, and the heater. They charge extra to cover a pool, but for the basic things in the household, they do well. Lowering the rates though could be an improvement. And while I've heard stories from friends that American Home Shield sends out unqualified people, everybody that I've ever had has done well.

I'm pretty happy with American Home Shield. Overall they seem to be professional and pretty organized. Everything ran smoothly. If I reported an issue, they have it addressed in a timely manner. I usually call them to file a claim and it has been a pretty straightforward process. I might be on hold for a couple of minutes. Sometimes I get a person and they file the claim.

When American Home Shield sent out High Priority Plumbing, the plumber forgot several things. There's a cover for the sewage ejection pump, and that cover has a little hole in it where the wire come out, and there's also a cover for the little hole. So we have the big cover and then a cover for the little hole. But the plumber did not put the big cover on securely. The big cover has like 10 screws but he only put the two of them in there, and he didn't really screw them all the way. It was really loose. And then the little hole in the big cover, he didn't put that back. We noticed it because there was an odor coming up from the tank. So, the plumber fell short there.

I called American Home Shield and explained to the rep that the plumber didn't put the thing on right, but he made it seem like they would have to issue a totally new claim. That was the only person that I spoke at American Home Shield who was kinda difficult. But then I called back, spoke to someone else, and she took care of everything. The service has been great overall.

Once, one of my five Nest thermostats at home wasn't getting power from the outlet and the whole area got cold. I put in a space heater there, but it blew up the whole circuit. I filed a claim with American Home Shield for the AC and the contractor called me the next day to schedule an appointment. Four days after that, the tech came. He went to our utility room and he figured out that the power line to the thermostat was loose. However, it took him a while to see exactly where it was loose, which ended up being in the basement. He then fixed the issue within 30 minutes. He was very careful, professional, and it was an overall good experience.

This was my first claim with American Home Shield and I was very happy about it. I've been with multiple home warranty companies before and my major complaint about them is that they don't keep an eye on the performance of their contractor network. I've been waiting since December to get my heating taken care of but until this day, it still has not been resolved. The heat isn't being evenly distributed. There is no heat coming in to my room at all then there's very little heat coming in to my son’s room. So when I filed the claim in, I wasn’t sure if it was the furnace or the ductwork. I just clicked furnace and duct, and American Home Shield sent somebody out. The guy was great and I thought that he was being open and honest with me. He said I needed a new furnace and he repaired the furnace. He also told me that I needed the ductwork done and that he was gonna put it in his notes that the ductwork is mandatory. But I was charged and I had paid $825. Why did I have to pay the $825 if the problem is still not resolved?

American Home Shield said they were gonna have somebody out for the duct thing. And finally, on the fourth appointment, somebody came out. But American Home Shield denied the claim. I think they said it was because it was improperly installed. I just bought the house back in November and the reason I bought the warranty was in case there is something wrong that I didn’t see when I bought the house. Plus I'm anemic and asthmatic. So during the polar vortex, I couldn’t sleep in my room because it was freezing cold. Now, I'm gonna have to start passing the hospital bill to American Home Shield as well because they told they were gonna take care of this issue but they didn’t.

With the exception of the contractor that just came, the ductwork people were all unprofessional. American Home Shield was sending out mom-and-pop shop type of people. It was not anything where it was like a business. I had one company that called initially and was upset. He told me I probably needed a new furnace and when I told him I just had a new furnace put in, he said, "Well, if you had a new furnace put in, what's the use of me coming out?” I told him he was coming out because he was a ductwork specialist. He said he would be on it but that I should have gotten a furnace through him. That was not even my call. That was American Home Shield's call. Still, the contractor called and set up an appointment. He also called me the day before and on the day of the appointment. But he never showed up.

The second company was a lot more understandable. It was still a family-owned company but the dad had a heart attack. It was the same day that my appointment was supposed to be and the daughter knew that I already had a hard time with the first company that was supposed to come out. She thought he let me down and she was crying when she called me. But I told her to calm down and that it was okay. I told her to just give me a call when her dad was okay.

But American Home Shield ended up reassigning my case to a third duct vendor. That vendor came out, stayed in my house for five minutes then walked through and out of my house. He said he would send in something to American Home Shield but two days later, I still had not heard anything. I called in to American Home Shield and they told me that he still hadn’t sent anything in. So they contacted him to find out what was going on. He sent in the paperwork and then American Home Shield called me back the next day and said that they denied the claim. I asked about it and they said they would send out a person for a second opinion but they were gonna charge me another co-pay. So I've paid three deductibles for the same thing and still, my ductwork is not fixed.

And then I was sent to multiple people and had to say the same thing over and over again. Despite what the plain language of the contract says, they still are denying payment and are rude about it.

I will now have to go to court to get my claim paid. I also intend to file a complaint with the insurance commissioner for the State of CT and with the Consumer Protection Department. I would not recommend this company and its so-called insurance product to anyone and I feel that the real estate agents who are pushing it are most likely getting commissions to sell their product on top of it all.

AHS sent a contractor to fix the AC during the summer. They didn't come nor call for 6 days. I called AHS. They said that contractor was not on my area. They sent a second one who came 3 days later. After 5 visits during the summer they said I have to pay $1350 for freon before they can replace the compressor. They however said, "If you pay and in a month or 10 days the compressor broke again because something else is bad with the machine" they will have to charge me another $1350 for new freon. So I said, "Well please check what could be causing the unit to break the compressor." They said they can't as it was impossible to find out.

I called 2 companies and one 3rd expert who told me, "Replacing the compressor is a patch, the unit under the house is rotted and the fan is sticky (bearings) and the dehumidifier in the unit stopped working hence your new compressor will work 24/7 to try and maintain temperature." AHS never diagnosed this, they simply want to replace the compressor and for me to pay $1350 yet they won't warranty the job, story short AHS has not responded and the unit won't cool nor heat as it is an electric heat pump. What can I do?

This is most awful company I had ever dealt with. They keep you on hold forever and never keep their promises. I never got a copy of my contract after requesting a copy three times. The vendors then send to your house are not reputable. Make sure to check all reviews from all websites about this company. BUYER BEWARE!!!

They will continue to repair a 20 year old Heat pump and not pay you ANYTHING towards replacement if you decide to upgrade to a new unit. Total scam. I saved them the 600.00 of replacing the compressor on my outside unit by replacing the entire system at my cost and they wouldn't pay me a single cent of the 600.00 I saved them. I should have just continued to let them repair a very old unit at my cost of 125.00 each service visit.

I had a water heater that was leaking all over. The heater was 19 years old and so, it had started to rust and the pan where it sat in had cracked. I made a phone call to American Home Shield to submit a claim and the process was very smooth and seamless. The tech from Peter Klein Plumbing came out the same day. He went ahead to submit the information he needed to do on his part. And my phone rang within 30 seconds, and they let me know that the tech received the information on how to proceed. It was very prompt. The tech first came out on a Sunday and by Tuesday morning, he replaced the heater. The tech was very courteous and professional. He's definitely somebody I would hire.

The burner on my stove was not working and I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. Waiting on the phone was a pain. It took about an hour to reach out to the customer rep which was really annoying. But other than that, the contractor was able to come out in less than a week and the service provided was good.

I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for the icemaker and the refrigerator. Online is where everything is. You go to the site, put in all the information, then they tell you to pay the money and let you know who’s gonna come. AHS sent out RC Appliance. They had to get some parts from somewhere. I just had a total knee replacement and I needed the ice for my knee because I have to keep it iced to keep the swelling down so not having the icemaker working was a real problem. But RC Appliance got the icemaker fixed in a relatively timely manner. Overall, I've been happy with AHS.

My heater didn’t come on. I called in to American Home Shield and submitted a claim. The customer service reps were fantastic because they tried to get to me as soon as possible. I was really concerned about the heat because it had been so cold and they weren’t able to get someone out that day, but it was the very next day. Somebody online, as I was waiting to turn it in, said to check the pilot if we have a gas thing. Mine is gas, but I went up there to see if there was a pilot on it, but I couldn't find it.

My son-in-law and my daughter were here when the contractor came. They both said he was great. Both of them liked him very much. They said he was very professional when he came out and thought he knew exactly what it was and went up and checked. They really enjoyed him. The contractor said that kind doesn’t have a pilot light. He cleaned the metal off of it, I don’t know whether it had corroded since that happens frequently. It actually worked for him before he even cleaned it off. I have no idea why it didn’t light when I turned it on.

Another thing was that I had someone come out for my washer and I was gonna give this guy a really great review because he handled everything so professionally and methodically that I thought that this was great. I went in to do that and I got company come in the middle of it. When they left, I tried to get back into it and it said I couldn't. I didn’t finish it and I really felt bad because I know it really means a lot to the people that come out. This happened to me a couple of times but I got to talk to someone from American Home Shield when I called in this last time. I told the person that I had contacted about the gas furnace. Now, the gas furnace was an urgent thing because it was getting really cold here. She took all of my information down that I had and she said she’d see to it that guy got credit for it. Overall, I have never been disappointed with AHS and I recommend them to everybody.

We're about eight months into our first-year contract with American Home Shield and we're fairly pleased with what we've seen. At this point, we'd expect to probably continue their services. Recently, we had an exhaust fan motor go out on an HVAC gas heating unit. We had heat available but the unit was extremely noisy and it could have failed at any time. We called American home Shield to ask them to look into it and they had a serviceman out the next day. We received both an email and a phone call telling us that the serviceman would be at our home on a set time. We then received a text or an email link telling us that they were on the way. When the serviceman came, he did the work and communicated what he had to do. He had to order parts and that took a couple of days. But he was back as planned and he got the work done satisfactorily. American Home Shield has done what they said so far.

I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. I had an issue where the furnace was not shutting off and the blower would keep on running. Then when it did shut off, as soon as it shut off, the heat would come back on again. Because it had run so long, it had cooled the house. I submitted the claim over the phone. But I also had a problem earlier that I had called on, for the same thing, and they told me they would be getting ahold of me after the weekend was over. But I couldn't wait. I had this fellow and he went ahead and helped me. It would work but then it would quit working.

So finally, I called American Home Shield again. I let them go ahead, set up the appointment and come over here. I already knew what the problem was and the only way I was gonna get the control box replaced was to get a heating person in here to do it. Altogether, the repair took about an hour and a half. It’s working perfectly now and the technicians were very nice and helpful.

My water heater's pilot light went out and won’t relight. I went online and did the request service, and American Home Shield told me who was gonna be calling. Lakeshore Plumbing and Septic called and set up a service. It was on a Friday, and they said they couldn't get through until the next week. But when I said, "I don't wanna go all weekend without hot water," they had an agent here within an hour and a half. They were very accommodating with our hours.

Their guy came in and there was a bad sensor that he was able to reset and relight the pilot light. He was great and it took him less than an hour to do the repair, but he said that not too many of the California hot water heaters have sensors on this part of the state. It's like a gas sensor, and usually the westward people put their hot water heaters outside, and then store within a gasoline next to them, so it shuts off. But he said sometimes the sensors just go bad after it's 10 years old. He was very good, though.

I've done submitting claims before with American Home Shield and the process has been easy. Their website is a little slow but it works. My latest claim was a problem with the toilet. With any solid waste, it would not flush properly. The people they have contracted for plumbing have come to my home before and I’m familiar with them. They do a really nice job and come when they’re supposed to. Plus, it’s easy to get an appointment with them. From that standpoint, I couldn’t be happier.

The plumber ran a roto-rooter type of thing and said there were other issues because the toilet has nothing to do with everything beyond that. He also said that AHS would give me a crappy replacement toilet or I could upgrade. I told him to give me something comparable to what was already in there so that was what he did. However, I was disappointed that AHS would not replace the toilet with something comparable. They claimed they were going to put a builder’s grade in, but my plumber said that my builder put in a very good toilet so I paid the difference. I put $300 toilet in then AHS covered $75 of it. The contractor ultimately replaced the toilet.

I recently filed a claim to American Home Shield for our heater. I did it over the phone and I felt happy interacting with their reps. I contacted AHS through the chat on the website and I guess the rep didn't send the email to the contractor. So, I called because nobody called me back and they haven't received an email from the company. I was told that they will send the email at that time although I already called the contractor because I always use them. They do a really professional and good job. After a couple of days, I had a contractor out in my home and once they got it going, it got authorized really quickly.

It was fixed on a Monday. I've had some bad experiences before with contractors, but since AHS sent these people, it always went well. I was impressed with their professionalism. They were very quick and to the point. They did not try to sell me anything else. Previously, when AHS sent people to check the air conditioner, they would try to sell me a new air conditioner or I should do this or I should do that. They also use like a sheer tactic. This company does none of that. Since the repair, the heater is performing well. I was even showed the parts and what they replaced.

Navigating through American Home Shield’s website was really easy. I have an account now and I'm able to fill my claims on there. The tech who came was nice and he explained to me really well. He wasn't able to fix the problem though. He said the power needs an AC ballast and that was not covered on the insurance. But other than that, American Home Shield was great. The process was very fast and easy.

There was a leak in our upstairs bathroom. The spigot kept dripping and I couldn't get it to stop no matter how much I tightened it down. It was also happening on the outdoor spigot on the back patio. And so, I put in a request on the American Home Shield portal online for both of those to get fixed. Filing the claim was very easy and self-explanatory. Blue Star Plumbing called the same day and set up the appointment for the next day, and everything was fixed the next day. I had to have my mother meet the technician over there. But they did call me ahead of time and let me know that they'd be here in 25 minutes. So I was able to let my mother know and she was able to go across town and meet him. She said he fixed the leak really quickly and gave a 60-day warranty on the work. They took care of the problem, and everything went really smoothly and I was happy with the result.

Whenever I have problems, I find out if it’s gonna cost more than the $75 deductible. And if it would, then we’d call American Home Shield. Most recently, we had a problem with some hinges on our stove. The contractor came out, looked at it, found what parts we needed and then ordered it. We’re waiting for the parts to come in and the guy to come back and install it. They fixed something else on our dishwasher as well, which they did in a fairly prompt manner and we were fairly satisfied. The contractors we've had so far have been good.
