I have a sporadic problem with my heating system, where it would go on at times when it wasn't supposed to go on per the settings. The people that came were excellent and I can't say anything negative about them. The man explained that he gets a few claims a year about the problem, but sometimes, the problem doesn't occur until 1:00 am, so he said it is very hard to catch it if it was in fact affecting my heating and fan system upstairs in my attic.

I am still getting the sporadic fan that goes on when it is likely not supposed to go on, so I wanna do more troubleshooting before I call it in, but I have to call him instead of restarting it all over with another person because he told me to call him even at any hour if I was getting the problem. He said the only way to troubleshoot it is for him to see it happening when he is here. American Home Shield did the best they could regarding this claim and the gentleman that came was very knowledgeable. He advised to make some small changes in my settings, which I did, but I don't know if I have the problem or not. I don't wanna call again unless I'm positive that I have this problem.

I have had American Home Shield for 18 years overall now and they've generally been good. Sometimes, I've had problems using their telephone automated system because the artificial intelligence system does not work unless I give them back exactly what they state is their list of problems. It is too small, so I could never use it. My only complaint is the attempt to get the telephone system option to work. It has never worked for me because the options that they list are so specific. If I don't say exactly what the prompt is, it will not work or it will send me to a prompt that has nothing to do with my problem. Sometimes, there are nuances to explain what a situation is, where it is not gonna work on the telephone system. My recommendation is to use the internet or speak to a representative if your problem can't be explained with a couple of words, which the telephone system seems to only provide.

Their prices have also gone way up and at this point, I am losing on the protection. It appears as if some of the owners have switched to another company in my area, but I am still loyal. I am just concerned about their enormous price increases since I started with them. The price is worth the value of services they provide, but I will put out a caution flag for how they are pricing all their services.

My overall experience with American Home Shield has been the best. They have broader coverage as opposed to any other company. When the garbage disposal wasn’t working, Plumbers Inc. came out. But it was an expensive $100 to have the problem fixed. They could have also come out a lot sooner because I put in a complaint on a Friday and they didn't come out until the following Thursday. But everything has been running okay since the repair. The tech put an Allen wrench underneath the garbage disposal and twisted it back and forth, and he said something in it was jammed. He unjammed it and it worked. The reps were also good when I submitted this claim over the phone.

We've had plenty of claims with American Home Shield and most recently, we took advantage of their regular maintenance thing. Our refrigerator is so old and new problems keep coming up. We keep having to call them out for it. It's not that they're not fixing the problem, but at what point do we get a new refrigerator? They should have a fact page. Still, working with AHS has been great and we renewed for another year. Their technicians have all been great as well.

The wind was coming off the roof of the house and blowing down the flue and then kept blowing my water heater out. I called American Home Shield and the interaction with their rep was wonderful. It took five days to get somebody out and look at the problem. The contractor said the flue was too short. The flue has to be heightened. However, AHS doesn't cover that. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful experience with AHS.

I went online to Home Shield to put in a request for a service and set up my profile, and that process has been absolutely wonderful. It was so easy, they deducted the $100, and there was no money exchanged between myself and the plumber. So, that was a beautiful experience. The plumber came on a Thursday, and he was very good in the communication that he was on his way. And then when he worked on my bathroom, he said they didn't have a part. They were gonna have to order it and then they'd give me a callback next Thursday to reschedule to come out and install it. The next Thursday came around, but I haven’t heard anything. So, I called them on Friday and the rep said she had a box to go through but she asked me to let her call me back.

She did call me back advising me that the part was still in transit. But then, I had to call them back again on Friday because I haven’t heard anything. She finally sent someone out. So, the follow through with the company like the reconnection could be better. I had to contact them versus them contacting me. But then when they sent a different gentleman to come over, he was absolutely wonderful. He made me feel at home, was very professional, kind of walked through, and was very friendly. I was asking him different plumbing questions because of my sinks and he said, “Let me take a quick look at it.” I really appreciated that versus having to fill another request. And all he did was just unscrew my faucet and looked down. This is the first time that I had a home warranty. My experience was very simple. So, I’m very pleased with it.

I called again when I got the bill and was assured it was taken care of. I just got a delinquent notice for the same bill, so here I am on hold again for someone that likely speaks poor English and will not resolve the issue. Getting my items serviced is not the issue, the absence of satisfactory customer service is. I won't renew my contract.

I have had this home warranty for year half. Never used it till I went downstairs and water heater was leaking all over floor. So made claim online and was notified that a plumber would contact me in 24 hours. Well never heard anything so called them. Said they couldn't get to me till Monday. This is Friday and no water heater so I called AHS and they put an expedite work ordering on it.

So plumber called me back. Said be there on Saturday between 10 and 2. So I took off work and they never showed up. So called AHS back. Said they may be running behind so give them 2 more hours. Did called AHS back. Told them never showed up so the guy told me he was going with another vendor. They would call me in 2 hours to schedule appointment. Well never heard anything so called AHS again on Sunday morning. Got same runaround so I ask to talk to supervisor. Said couldn't find one but would have one call me. Never did.

So I just gave up. Called back to cancel work order and asked to talk to supervisor again and she wanted to to know why. I said I was tired of getting the runaround and that they have no problem taking my payments every month. Then she tried to tell me the credit card I gave was denied which I know it wasn't because I called them and no one had tried to run it so just covering their **. They tell me this I had total protection. They did same thing so you all are no better. Thanks for nothing and enjoy my payments till August cuz I'll be gone after that.

AHS sent someone else out and they got it repaired. I requested the claim online and the appointment was the next day. I’m from outside of US, so I was not really sure how to do things here. So, I got AHS in case I need it and I’m better protected. I submitted my claim through the internet to AHS for the dishwasher. I have used it before and I knew a little bit more about the system, so everything went very well. A local company came to my house but they had to come three times to fully repair so, it took two weeks. During that time, I spent more time outside to have dinner so I don’t have anything to wash which was the most important change in my day-by-day activities in my house. Nevertheless, the person was very nice and he engaged to solve the problem. The dishwasher is working well now.

The company that they told me was supposed to come over here and fix the problem, ASAP Plumbing Services, came over here and within 20 minutes, I had a brand new garbage disposal. They found the problem and cleaned the water that came out of the garbage disposal. It had been leaking in the bottom and I had placed a container to hold the water. I had to be careful with that because it was underneath the cabinet and I didn’t want it to damage the wood of my cabinet. Everything was fine after they fixed it and I'm really happy with the service. It was good. My mother-in-law also has the Home Shield. We have a house in Florida and in Tennessee, and we have American Home Shield on both. Our interactions with their contractors have been very good. Plus, some of them have been friendly. When the glass top on our stove cracked, AHS said that they don't replace that. They sent somebody else out who said that the stove is still operational. I wouldn’t use it though. I'm terrified. When you turn the heat on, that crack is gonna get worse and the glass could shatter. The stove was only four years old. We talked to the company and they couldn’t explain it. They should have replaced the glass top.

Nevertheless, AHS had to replace our trash compactor. I had them out here yesterday, checking my dishwasher. They’ve also been out for the dryer before, but the repair wasn’t done properly. They had to work on it for the second time in three months. The dryer is now working and my daughter is not upset saying that she hasn't been able to dry clothes. My daughter said that the contractor was super and knew what he was doing. I'd tell friends to get AHS.

When my dishwasher won't drain and it leaked water, I called in and submitted my claim to American Home Shield. The people on the telephone are always nice and I'm always happy with the guy who comes out. However, I'm rather annoyed with AHS because this is the third time I've had somebody out here. The dishwasher is 11 years old because it's the age of the house.

The first time, they fixed it. And then, it wasn't that much longer after that and it got broken again. And now it’s broken again. They are finally replacing it this time because it can't be fixed. However, they put a band-aid on it instead of replacing it. And I had to keep spending money for somebody to come out when they should have just replaced it the first time. It's frustrating since I'm having to do dishes by hand and I don't enjoy that.

I have been with American Home Shield for a year and a half. I’ve considered canceling it several times. My son and daughter-in-law took AHS out after I did and whenever I was frustrated with it, they said they were gonna cancel it. I did advise them not to cancel because if you have something big, you may regret it. And that’s the reason I keep it because all in all, it’s certainly a good thing, but they have the same frustrations because somebody came to work on their dryer the same day they came to look at my dishwasher, but their dryer is still sitting there broken.

On a Saturday, I noticed that my pool pump tries to kick on but it did not come on at all. I requested service on my pool pump with American Home Shield. The gentleman from Miller Pools came to the house. He called me on his way and I let him know that I’m not available to go to whatever he needs to do. They did call me before to schedule the appointment though and let me know that they’re coming on the following day. When the guy came into the house, he did the work. And then after he got done with the work, he told me it was done and the pool pump is running, and it’s been running great since. It turned out that the pump itself was not broken. There was a transistor or some component in the pump itself that burnt out and malfunctioned. So, he replaced that piece, and he was here for less than an hour.

I built my home warranty with American Home Shield a la carte. I got to pick exactly what item I wanted. I wanted to make sure I include my pool, and I just wanted to verify that the pool pump itself was covered. And when I went through the site for my claim, it showed me that my pool was covered. So, while I was still on the site reviewing my contract, I selected the pool pump from the dropdown and I said, "Service" and paid the hundred and twenty-five bucks. And then the guy was at my house on Tuesday afternoon.

I also filed a claim with them in December. We have two heaters in the house and one of them malfunctioned, and it was pretty cold. I called them because it was more of an emergency. And the gentleman was able to come out the next morning. They had told me somebody’s available later. I insisted that I needed somebody to come right away. The person came out early in the morning, and he ran upstairs. I had something malfunctioning. The gentleman was able to identify it quickly, replaced it, and the heat was back on. And he even helped set up my Nest thermostat. I had it connected and it wasn’t working because of that malfunction in the heater. He went downstairs, and he showed me how to do it. And he set it up for me too on the site as an extra thing. So, that was really nice of him. It was excellent customer service. He went above and beyond.

American Home Shield got recommended to me by a friend. And so far, it’s been fantastic. From the moment that they allowed me to build my policy a la carte, add the things that are important to me like my pool plumbing, my pool pump, all the way down to being able to cover ceiling fans inside the house, to the service and the turnaround time, they were top-notch. I will renew with them next year as well.

American Home Shield’s website is very user-friendly. I went to their website to submit a claim when the upper rack of the dishwasher kept falling down. It seemed like some support piece of plastic on each side was defective or broken. If we tried to use the top rack of the dishwasher, we were always worried that it would fall down and the glasses would get broken. So, we either didn’t use it or we had to press on both sides and kept our fingers crossed. Then, an AHS rep called within 24 hours as the website said they would and I was told exactly when the contractor would come out and the day that they were scheduled to come out. The contractors called me and gave me within an hour when they would be coming.

When they arrived, they were immaculately dressed and were completely professional. Our interaction with them could not be better. They were very interested in the problem and were able to diagnose it immediately. Then, they gave me an expectation of when it would be repaired because it was a part that had to be ordered. They told me if it was in the local parts for Whirlpool and when they would come back. Also, if they had to order it from a more distant parts depot, they will let me know when they would come back. They were so on the ball. When the parts came in, they called me and told me, and then they set up the time for them to come and install it.

They came exactly on time and knew exactly how to install it because Whirlpool got rid of the plastic and replaced it with metal. They worked silently. I could tell they’ve done this many times before and when they tested it, and they said that if I have any other problems with it, I can get back to them. Now, we can use the dishwasher normally. It has been terrific when you have an appliance that just works, does its job and you don’t have to baby it or worry about it. My experience with American Home Shield had been great from the time I posted the request for service and onwards. It was exactly what I had hoped it would be if I ever needed to have something repaired. Plus, it went beyond my expectations because of the service provider that AHS work with.

I was also given an expectation that I'd get a call within 24 hours and that happened.

The first company came out about two or three different times. The first time the guy came out, he told me to unplug the refrigerator and let it defrost because there might be some ice crystals on the fan. The second time, he blew off the back of the refrigerator dusting stuff. So I don’t know what happened. But Allegiant came out and the tech ordered some parts, walked me through everything, and it was a good experience. I’ve had no issues since. After the repair, the refrigerator has been great. Everything went really well and it was a little more than what was expected from my past experiences. I would tell others that they definitely gotta have American Home Shield.

American Home Shield is a great company. They took great care of me. Someone from All American Plumbing came and fixed our kitchen faucet that was put in wrong when we had another warranty company. Then they had to order a part for our shower in the master bedroom that was having some issues. They fixed it, initially, but it was a more expensive thing. Instead of just one faucet, they had to replace all three and reconvert it to a new faucet system. They took care of that a few weeks later. They kept in touch with us the whole time and worked with our schedule because we went out of town during the time that we were without one shower. They made us aware of the shipment coming in. They came last Thursday and fixed the whole thing. It's working perfectly now. They gave us a great customer service.

The recent claim that I filed with American Home Shield was for our refrigerator that stopped working. The light came on, but it was the switch on the compressor. I filed the claim online and the tech called and told me what to try to do -- to unplug the refrigerator and plug it back -- but it didn’t work. He came after that, but I had lost some of my food in my refrigerator. I opened it and everything was melted, and it has been registering 65 degrees since then. He told me to unplug it and leave it unplugged for half an hour or so, then plug it back in and maybe, it can fix itself, but it didn’t work.

He had everything he needed when he came out and he fixed it, and everything has been fine. I totally recommend American Home Shield. I told my neighbor that I've had it since around 2002 and I really appreciate having it. Any woman who lives alone, unless she is a mechanic, should have one. It doesn’t solve all your problems, but it sure makes a difference. I love American Home Shield.

My recent experience with American Home Shield was good. My refrigerator's compressor went out and AHS sent a technician from Mr. Appliance of Cleveland. Fortunately, it was cold enough at the time when the unit wasn't working properly. Still, we lost a bit of food and we had to store our stuff on the back porch. The tech came out one day, assessed the problem, had to order the part, and then the part came two days later. Unfortunately, they were booked up, so it took about a week for him to come back out. But he came back out and within an hour or so, he solved the problem and the refrigerator was fixed. He was very good, knew what he was doing, and he was very friendly.

I've submitted a repair request to American Home Shield to address a leak in my dishwasher. They sent a technician from Appliance Tech. He came out and he noted that there was no air gap installed for the dishwasher which was a little strange because I've installed dishwashers before, I've installed air gaps before and as far as I know, there's no reason why not having an air gap would cause the dishwasher to leak. It's really designed to prevent that flow from the garbage disposal into the dishwasher.

The house is in a rental property for us and we have tenants in there. I drove from Fremont where I live out to the property there in Modesto and I installed that air gap. The tenants let me know that the dishwasher was still leaking. I contacted AHS again and asked that someone a little more responsible than the guy from Appliance Tech be sent out. I also asked to have the technician call me before he goes out to the house so I could give him a little background what had already been done and what the results were. The tech from Appliance Pro said he'd take care of it. He called me afterwards and he told me what he did with the dishwasher and that he run it and it was not leaking. I contacted the tenant and they said that there's no more leak.

So it took two different contractors to get the dishwasher issue finally resolved. Nonetheless, I'm happy that the whole process was taken care of and the dishwasher was okay because it's a very nice and expensive dishwasher and I didn’t want to have to see it get replaced. I was just not real happy with Appliance Tech. I read some reviews of Appliance Tech and they have horrible reviews. Two-thirds of their reviews were only 1-star and a lot of the people wished they could give 0.

I brought to the attention of the AHS contractor relations people that they may wanna consider making sure that whoever they contract with has a good reputation and one of the methods of determining a good reputation is on sites where people post real reviews of their experiences with these companies. I felt that they're making money off the service call. But sometimes these contractors charge less on the service fee than AHS charge. I understand that they need to have some fixed fee, and that it's not dependent upon the individual contractor, but maybe they want to be aware that people are looking at reviews and things like the contractor service fee can be found on review websites and that it ends up not looking good for American Home Shield.

The heat pump was all frozen on the outside. I looked at our old manual and it said not to worry if it goes up iced around the outside. The fan was still working and it would click on to the heat the house. It would draw power from our lights, so our lights would dim and then come back on full strings, and it is still doing that. We had almost a $400 bill and we had our Coos-Curry electric department come out, but it had nothing to do with our power connected to the line. The tech said that I should check out the heat pump because it seems like that is where the problem is coming from. We thought it was our power company, but it wasn’t. It was the unit.

I filed the claim with American Home Shield and it took them no more than two or three days to have someone to come out to repair. It was really fast. We were told that they would come out the following week, but we got the phone call back and they said they have somebody in my area and they could have them come out, so I said yes. The tech came out, but he had had to come back because the heating strips needed to be put on inside the unit itself. He came back the following week and installed a new panel.

It still seems to draw the power from our lights and it makes a weird noise. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it is kinda scary for me. Our bill went from $150 to almost $400 and the guy who came out from our electric company said that he would check with our heat pump and our air-conditioner because it could be just it needs something there. The only thing is sometimes, it is around 45 minutes on the phone with American Home Shield just being on hold and it doesn’t matter what time I call. And sometimes, I’d get somebody on the phone that has an accent and it is very difficult to understand, so I have to ask them to speak slowly. That usually resolves the problem, but it is a little frustrating. Nonetheless, I have been telling everybody that I know that has a house that they should get American Home Shield.

Have been a customer for the life of my home 25+ years, never had issue with AHS until now with a small hidden clause in the contract circa 2016 version that states under section "I. LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS Coverage Exceptions Applicable to Certain Breakdowns 6. AHS is not responsible or liable for repairs or replacements when the malfunction is due to: b. Accidents, fire, freezing, water damage, electrical failure or surge, or excessive or inadequate water pressure;"

Water pressure issue if too high then contract is not in effect. Water heater failed...water pressure issue not covered. Toilet failed ...water pressure issue not covered. You get the idea.

Even if you have a water regular install (mine is set to 45 psi) and it is not set correctly... Nothing water touches can and will not be covered... not covered due to water pressure is a get out honoring a contract if the repairs are too high for AHS. And the testing of water pressure is open to any standards the contractor or AHS wishes to accept. And if a repair has a vent or hose or gas line that is not a cost they cover, you are stuck with the contractor who is approved to do the repair to change anything they wish...

Example water supply line at hardware store under ten dollars, add 12% a high standard for parts mark up and that is reasonable. AHS contractor requires 95 dollars for same part or will not do the work...because they the contractor is losing money on your install... now if your repair contract price does not include reasonable parts..hose, vent, clamp etc. you pay outrageous "costs" So please be aware of this "way to do business." End result is they bill me for the monthly, the service call did not fix anything so no water heater (this has been going on now for weeks).

American Home Shield has fixed everything that we've called about but we went through a hassle to get it. It takes me forever to get anything done and that's with all my claims. It's not so much American Home Shield but getting the stuff ordered. Home Shield would order the stuff and there is a lot of delays. I've got a microwave issue that they've been out for for four times.

The contractors are nice but I don't get anything done. A guy came out once and looked at my microwave and said, "Yeah." He wrote something down on a book and then left. He didn't even look at that stupid thing. He didn't open the door or examine it. But he was just a kid. When a professional guy came out, he looked at it and said it was a safety issue and that it was broken. I was getting a new microwave and I finally got something done. But when they delivered the microwave, it was damaged. They had to order another one and now, they're trying to deliver it. They called on the phone and, on the answering machine, they said they would be there in 20 minutes. But I was not even there. I was in Dallas. So how could I be there for them to deliver the microwave? They never talked to anybody and they did that twice. You can't do business that way though. You need to talk to somebody.

If you have an emergency, Home Shield is really bad. When you have water running and you have an emergency, they're bad. It's hard having to call and call them. I had a plumbing issue and I just finally got it resolved. The plumber who came out here was a super nice guy. But the part was ordered wrong for three times and he had to come out about five times to fix the leak in my hot shower.

I was also out of heat for a month during the middle of the winter and I sat for months, waiting for parts. And we're elderly now. We don't need to do that. We would go get a hotel room just to keep warm but that's ridiculous. I could have gone down to the local store, bought my part and had it put in in a day or overnight. But I guess American Home Shield was trying to order the cheapest part. I don't know what they're doing. I talked to the technicians and they're waiting on Home Shield to go order the part.

I was a technician myself and that's what aggravates me with their stuff. I know it doesn't take this long to get parts. I even offered to pay the overnighting on my heater. It's all on the technician too. They should be allowed to order their parts and not Home Shield. Home Shield is too slow. Another thing is that American Home Home Shield doesn't leave their ratings on the computer long enough for you to rate on it. Sometimes, we would be gone and when we would come back in a couple days, we would go to rate somebody but the time had expired on it.

I had two claims with American Home Shield. The first one was with the garbage disposal and the technician did excellent work. He came to a conclusion that the garbage disposal needed to be replaced and he replaced it. I was very satisfied with what he did. But, I was not happy with the second company that came out. He made promises that he couldn’t fulfill. I received a call from American Home yesterday and I asked them to put them on ‘Do not return’ list. When I a problem with the ceiling fan, he said it was a remote control because it controlled everything. He told me that would be replaced with no problem but I come to find out the remote control is not covered.

I also had a problem with an outlet that wasn’t working. It was hooked up to the main wire in the attic. He said that whoever did it should have put a junction box and ran it from the junction box. He said that shouldn’t be a problem. When they called yesterday, they said that was a problem and they don’t do that. The third item was the doorbell and the contractor assumed that there was no wire. He didn’t check, so he didn’t know if there was a wire or not. They said that if the wire was not there, they don’t cover it. But if he pulled the original doorbell, I’m quite sure he would have seen there was a wire behind that.

I was on the verge of canceling the contract but I understand that sometimes things do not go the way I want. I will probably keep AHS but in the meantime, I have been looking at other home warranties because I notice American Shield doesn’t offer any kinda roof repair that I may need in the near future. I checked a couple of other places and they offer roof repair and the price is a little cheaper too. The only problem I had with AHS is the company that came out to represent them which didn’t represent them correctly. Despite that, I have already recommended AHS to three people.

I was given a timeframe as to when to expect the contractor but it was over the weekend so, it was a gray area. I put in the claim on a Saturday. I called the tech service on Monday and then, they came out the next day. The tech was professional. He walked in, he went immediately to the fridge, looked at it and started troubleshooting from there. Since the repair, the refrigerator has been working and I don’t have to live out of coolers anymore. Having AHS is very valuable because I didn’t have to pay a $1,000 repair bill for my refrigerator.

When I bought the house, the seller paid for a year warranty with American Home Shield. I used to have OneGuard in my house in Houston and one of the services of OneGuard was when one buys a new house, they would come and change all the locks on the door as a security measure and it makes perfect sense to me. So, I called American Home Shield and told them I needed to get the locks changed. I asked if that is something they do and they said yes. I said, “Well, at OneGuard, it was free at a one-time deal. Is it the same thing with you?” I held on for about five minutes and the rep came back and said, "Oh, yes, ma'am. There's no service fee for this. No charge for that." I said, "Okay cool. That's what I wanna know. Thank you." Then, the rep said that I needed to go online and schedule it.

When I went online to schedule the change of locks, there was a prompt asking me to pay a $75 fee so I picked up the phone and called back American Home Shield again. A girl rep answered the phone and I repeated my story. She said, "Oh, no ma'am. There's always a fee. We don't do anything with no service charge on it." I said that it was horrible customer service for one to tell me one thing, then for her to get on the phone to tell me something else. It was unacceptable. She said, "Well, I'm sorry ma'am. He just told you wrong. He didn't know what he was talking about." I said that it should be a learning opportunity because everybody should know what their company charges before they tell a client on the telephone. I was very pissed off about that.

In another experience, a guy came out and repaired the microwave for me a couple of days ago. I put the claim online and I didn't have any issue, but I didn't like their website. It was a bit convoluted. I was at work so I didn't have a whole lot of time to reach them for the details as I got an appointment, but I was frustrated with it. But when I got through it, it was fine. The contractor sent out was very pleasant and he was there for a couple of hours trying to fix the microwave. It was repaired, so all was good.

I called American Home Shield for our air conditioner and the claims rep was nice. She told me all that they were gonna take out $75 for the service fee out of my checking account and that I could use whoever I wanted to use. They informed me that I could use HVAC Repair because they are the ones doing the updates on the checking of heater and the air conditioner. They service it twice a year. The technician was very nice and prompt. He told me when he would be there to fix it and the quality of work was good. I have been happy with them every time they've been out. I would recommend AHS. It’s very important. You don't get hit by those high bills when you have any and if you keep it under warranty and you do your inspections like you're supposed to, it's worth it.

It was for a regular preventative maintenance check-up. Bruce, the tech, got right to it. He did the inspection and he gave us the information that he had discovered. It was very rational and quick, in and out. It was done fairly quickly too. He did a great job. I am happy with the set-up. It’s something I plan on renewing to keep it going with the house as long as we have it.

My washer stopped rinsing and I was also getting an AC tune-up. I filed my claims online to American Home Shield and I was impressed. For the washer, I shut my computer and was texting my boyfriend that I hope they call me soon, and AHS called. For the AC, I filed it on a Friday night and they called on Monday. It was understandable since they were closed but it was quick.

The AC came with the house the we bought and it was dented. When it was given to us, it looked like a window unit fell on it. Last summer, it went out for a week and we filed a claim and then, it went back on. So, we wanted to get it checked out. I’m glad I filed the claim but it was a waste because the technician said there wasn’t much to be done. I wished he would’ve said they could replace it. However, they can’t replace it and have the warranty cover it if it’s still working to some extent. It might not make it through this summer so, we’ll see. I’m gonna renew AHS because I feel like it’s bad enough. If everything was fine and we weren’t having the AC problems, I wouldn’t renew it but even if I paid for two years, it would make up for the cost.

I put in a claim online for my GE Profile Microwave with American Home Shield. However, it took quite a while for them to come out. According to the technician, they were shorthanded so the appointment was 9 days out. He came but then he had to order parts. He came back a second time after another 11 days. That time however, the parts did not work so he had to order different ones. It was another week and a half of waiting. Afterwards, the repair took care of the problem. Four weeks without a microwave was hard since I don't cook. It was a pain in the butt but we got through it.

Apart from the microwave claim, we also had preventive maintenance for our AC. When we contacted American Home Shield to have maintenance and tune-up done, Integrity Air Conditioning Services came out and they were amazing. We've been very pleased with the service and we've renewed our home warranty for the next year.

American Home Shield has been prompt in getting back with us when we call and in setting up an appointment for the appropriate person to come. We had an issue with our washer and dryer a while back and we had to have that taken care of. Then about a week after we moved here, the hot water heater went out. American Home Shield took care of that too and did a good job. We were told that the freezer is not included in our appliances for the protection though, and we had assumed that if it was an appliance, it can be fixed or replaced. So that’s the only issues that we have. But everything else is okay.

Our freezer wasn’t working one time. I happened to go out and get something out. That was when I noticed the light wasn’t on then I touched something. We thought it was the freezer but my husband checked with another plug-in for the freezer and it worked so that was out. This man who came out was James and he was really good. He came on time and fixed out problem. He knew what he was doing and it didn’t take him very long to do it. It took almost an hour and he was really nice about it. The breaker box is over on the opposite side of the garage and there was also a plug-in we didn’t know we had. There was something with the breaker box so he fixed it and the plug over there on the other side didn’t work either. So he did all that at one time for us.

But in terms of submitting claims, everything is doing good. I usually file claims on the phone just because I wanna make sure it's correct. I don’t wanna take chances. Someone would be coming here and I would take a day off work. The copay has gone up though. I used to be charged $75 but then they started charging some tax so it went up. It goes up every year or every other year. It started around $40. Now, it's in the 60s. But it's been 20 years and everything has gone up. So I don't know if that's expected. I would love if it never went up but I guess that’s understandable. Recently, it was Super Plumbers that came out for my claim. They had been here before and they did pretty much the same thing they did before, and it was fast. They were very good and thorough.

The contractor had over 85 negative reviews on BBB; many for the same thing. A second contractor confirmed the upcharges were bogus. AHS confirmed the loss was covered. AHS still tried to force me to use the first contractor stating the bogus charges “were not their problem as they aren’t covered anyway”. AHS then tried to settle the claim cash in lieu for 1/4 the cost of repair. I had to call them no less than 10 times. They never once returned a call or followed up.

Each call forced us to start over from the beginning with no progress. They didn’t appear to care about the situation, refused to listen and never honored the contract. We’re still trying to get them to reimburse the actual repair cost. I can’t recommend them under any condition. I would recommend you save your money as you’ll be left in the cold by AHS when you submit any kind of real claim.

We received American Home Shield as part of our closing package when we purchased the house. I put in a service request to American Home Shield on January 5, 2019, today is April 6, 2019. My refrigerator is still not fixed. The appliance repair company sent out a service technician on 4 or 5 different occasions to repair our refrigerator. The fridge continues to leak water into the bottom tray and water continues to freeze under the bottom tray.

The first appliance company's technician cleaned out the drain, replaced the filter assembly, put in new valve and water lines, and replaced the fresh food fan assembly. The problem persisted. The technician stated it is an internal problem that Cant be repaired but asked for a second opinion, just in case. The first company did everything they knew to do. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. The second appliance company sent a technician who came out, checked everything and then some and stated there was really nothing else they could do.

American Home Shield refused to pay for a new fridge because the company stated it could not repaired due to a manufactures defect. It is not. There is no defect listed for this fridge nor is there a recall. Now they want to send out another technician and they stated they will not be replacing it because it freezes and cools and there is no reason to replace it.

I have to take make special work arrangements every time a technician comes to our house. Up to this point, I have been very patient. This is no longer the case. I am extremely upset and dissatisfied with American Home Shield. What do I do? What is the recommended course of action at this point? I will not recommend AHS to anyone.

My heater pilot light kept blowing out. The final conclusion was that the furnace needed to be replaced. I elected to go with my own contractor as he was the person who installed the previous furnace and my AC and he has complete knowledge of both of my systems since I have been in the home for over 34 years. Subsequently, the furnace was replaced and all repairs done. I submitted the invoice and was informed after several days, via email, that "We received your documentation regarding your furnace. However, we are unable to accept this as proof of replacement for the furnace at the above-referenced property." "Per our records, we need to receive need paid in full invoice showing purchase of new furnace that has at least 1-year manufacturer warranty and company information on invoice."

That was the direct quote on the email as written, and then the email said, "Please do not respond to this email - it is used for distribution purposes only." Now someone's name was on the email. No phone number to call was on the email. So this left me contacting customer service. Those people in customer service do not seem to know how to transfer you to the correct department. The customer service rep placed me on hold to find out where to transfer me, and then came back stating that she could not transfer me to that department or provide me with a contact phone number. When I informed her that I called on yesterday evening after 5 p.m. and that person was able to transfer me, then she put me on hold for another 10 minutes and then transferred me to another department.

I spoke to Sarah and informed her that I needed to speak to someone in the Inspection Service Department to find out exactly what documents were needed so that I will not be submitting documents, and receiving emails telling me that was not what they needed. Sarah stated that they are unable to transfer calls or contact that department. She suggested that I reply to the email sent. When I informed her that the email specifically stated to not reply, she then tells me to just resubmit the documents. Mind you I informed her that I did resubmit the invoice along with receipts for the furnace and copy of a warranty paper before she told me to resubmit. I told Sarah that my concern was that I would submit documents that would not be what was needed.

I also informed her that the person who replaced my furnace was also the same person who repaired my AC which American Home Shield accepted that invoice and reimbursed me for the repairs due to the buyout replacement terms. I asked Sarah could she please have that department contact me via phone so that I can verbally speak to someone so that I can clear up what documents were needed. Sarah became upset because I was letting her know that she kept repeating information that I already informed her was completed, and all I needed was to speak to someone who could handle my concerns. It is apparent to me that AHS needs to better train the employees that handles the calls.

Also, AHS needs to make sure that anyone who is sending out email communications to their clients, should also provide contact email address and direct phone numbers so that customers do not have to contact several different people who seem to be uninformed. I also asked Sarah for the corporate office info, and she told me to go to the website. Of course, I was unable to find the corporate office info on the website. I wish to get this matter resolved. AHS needs to take better care of their customers. It seems that professionalism is not important. I would be more than willing to speak to someone.

What was frustrating though was that instead of being able to use one service order for that, I've had to pay two fees because they have such strict categories of the types of people that work for them.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield is really easy to do online. If I ever have any issues, I will call, and I get a rep. From the time I submitted the claim, I am usually contacted within 24 hours. It is pretty quick to get a contractor to my home. It just depends on my availability and theirs. Over the years, I've had one or two issues with getting people out in a timely manner. I probably called them eight or nine times 'cause I was a first-time homeowner and didn't understand things like you just push that button under your disposal to get it to work again. American Home Shield has been a great value. Since I don't know much about appliances, having them has been really helpful.

I received a call from the plumbers within 10 minutes of making the online request with American Home Shield. They were able to come very promptly that afternoon. They asked what was wrong, we showed them and in 20 minutes, they had the problem fixed. They were very friendly and seemed very knowledgeable, answered any questions we had and asked if we had any other questions.

I’m about to cancel American Home Shield's service for the simple fact that every single time I called them, everything I needed was never covered. I’m wondering why I am paying the $40 a month. It makes absolutely no sense when I can go elsewhere and get assigned services cheaper without paying the $40 premium, and on top of that, the $125 copay. They are gonna be losing both of my houses. I've had AHS for two years and I've had several claims that have been completed, but no claim has been completed without me having to pay additional money. Their reps are just trying to get more money out of me. It’s a gimmick that AHS has been doing and I’m not gonna fall for it anymore.

We had a switch on the wall that wasn't working at all. It would work the heater, but it wouldn't work the lights, and we didn't know what was wrong with it. So, we got a hold of American Home Shield. We told them what was wrong and asked if they would cover that. They said yes. The guy who came out took about less than 10 minutes to take the circuit thing off and then put a switch on there. He said it was just a bad switch. The heater and the light switch are on the same thing, and he took the double plate off. He said the heater was working, but the light switch was not.

He was out here on Monday morning like he said he would be. He's good. I was impressed with his professionalism and manner. He knew what he was talking about. He didn't try to double-talk us, and he let me see what he was doing. He didn't waste any time, and he made us feel very comfortable. I hope AHS keeps him on their list because that's the type of person I like to deal with. He was very appropriate. I'm 77 and he was able to talk to me and he listened to what I have to say. He left us his card as well. This guy is a winner. I would recommend AHS. My wife and I are senior citizens and we're kinda leery of people, but we've dealt with AHS for a number of years. And every time we've called them, they have had people out here really quickly. Everybody that they sent us was good so far.

I called American Home Shield two weeks ago as I was having issues with my garbage disposal and with the touch faucet in my kitchen. Someone was dispatched and they told me first that it would take a week to get someone here. I could not wait a week without a kitchen sink so they came up with something for Thursday last week. AHS dispatched Sundance and the technician came out and cleared up the disposal issue. When the tech came out for the sink, he called American Home Shield and told them they needed to send someone for appliances because he thought that in doing the garbage disposal, it works together with the dishwasher. So, they came out, but they didn’t find anything wrong with it.

Moreover, the touch faucet required a part where he could figure out. It is a Delta faucet so he got in touch with Delta because they were supposed to be warranties on the parts. The technician was terrific and he gave me his cellphone number. He knew how long I was waiting and he asked Delta to overnight the part and that if the part came in and he was in the area, he would swing by and do it even if he didn’t have to call to get it done right away. By Monday, I thought to call and find out if they sent the part out overnight or when will I be expecting it. Delta told me they did not have an order for a part. They said they had requested some photos, which the tech took photos and he sent them over to them from here.

But for some reason, they did not receive them. So, he resent them on Monday and then got a message somehow that Delta was not going to put this part under warranty. So, I called American Home Shield and told them that they needed to get back with them, have their parts department order the part just because if they weren’t going to supply the part, it doesn’t mean that American Home Shield is not going to. They said on Monday that they were gonna call me back but I did not hear from them.

I called them on Tuesday and told them that I didn’t hear back and that I had spoken to their tech and he said that he was going to try and get American Home Shield to forget about Delta, but just get the part and put it in because he knew how inconvenient it was not to have my kitchen sink. Come Wednesday, I still did not hear back. I also told them that the dishwasher was making a grinding noise and there was also some debris inside of it. I told them too that I needed to have the other company come out. So far, I’ve been trying to speak to the people from AHS about the service people that they sent here and how it was handled.

I’ve had American Home Shield since I bought the house in 2000 and they’ve been Johnny-on-the-spot with anything that we’ve had to do. Some other company had come by and done some cleaning on our AC unit and they told us that there was a whole bunch of stuff wrong with it. We filed a claim with AHS and the contractor, Comfort Heating and AC, came out and checked our unit. the service man found a couple of errors, such as burnt wires. They called me when the service man found what was what with the unit, then he let me know what they were fixing and I’m satisfied. It cooled and worked fine that day. But then we had a cold spell come in the next day, so we switched it off. We ended up with the temperature going from up in the 70s to about 34.

I only had one challenge in my experience with AHS. If I ever have to have a plumbing company again, I will not allow AHS to use one contractor because the last time that we had them out, I ended up paying close to $1,000 of my own money in getting some repairs done that they refused to do anything with. But other than that, I have not had any problem whatsoever with AHS. At one time, they had to replace a dishwasher. They also had to replace a range and something else. So, I’m totally satisfied. I told the folks what warranty provider I use and I recommended AHS to them.

Let me start by saying I've been with this company for over 4 years. We're going on our 5th year. I have put in the couple of service requests that were handled in a timely manner and were taking care of to the best of the ability of the technicians that came out and I've had others that have been nightmares and this recent nightmare and the one just before it have led me to make this review. Let's start with the current dilemma and understand I am at the end of my rope because I do not feel I should work so hard to get the results that are within my policy. I do not feel like spending the next 5 hours trying to call the Philippines to try to get roped around and put on hold because this has been the experience in the past.

My air conditioner went out at the an inopportune moment last year right in the heat of the summer when it was over a 100゚here in Texas and it took them over AM 3 weeks to get it fixed. The last night was totally unbearable. I had to resort to going to a hotel and taking my family there but finally they said they fixed that. It was not fixed. Come September when we turned on the heat the pump made a weird and crazy noise and it failed again. They sent a technician out two times within the a month span and he said he fix that and now a mere 4 months later I turned the air conditioner on for the 1st time of this season and it's starting to make a wild noise and it's not cooling the house.

I called American Home Shield again to be told that it's only a 60 day warranty and I would have to pay for another service call. I think this is ridiculous. There is nothing out there that's only warranted parts or service or labor that you would ever pay the hundreds of dollars we pay year for only a 60 day window especially when during those periods of time that system can be completely off so you would know that there was any problem until you went to turn it back on. I have made 2 calls in the last 3 days and I would like someone to come out and look at my heater/air conditioner and actually get it fixed and not with just a band-aid job. And silly me did I mention that I pay the same company to come out twice a year and do a wellness check on my air conditioner and heater and they a both times they said it was everything was fine. Well it's not fine and here we're getting on to summer months and I would like it fixed.

I have been with American Home Shield Warranty for several years now and have always loved the customer service and contractors associated with the company. Here lately (last 2 service appliances) have been a very disappointing experience for me. Not sure if the company has gone through new ownership or reorganizing or such but the quality of service has decreased tremendously. The website has changed and you are no long able to communicate via email with them, you are on hold for a very long time and even the chat rooms have waiting. Nearly impossible to get a live person for immediate help. The contractors that have been out to my house the last two times have been very unprofessional and rather rude.

My last appliance was my over the counter microwave that lost power. Contractor came out and said that I needed a new microwave. So I go through the process of ordering my new microwave. Microwave comes in and a new contractor comes to install. They try to uninstall my microwave and said that I had to hire a contractor to come and remove my non working microwave in order for them to install my new microwave??? (It was just 2 screws). So, my husband and son uninstall the old microwave with ease and I then call the contractor back to come back and install the new one. Was then told that I had to contact American Home Shield to put in another work order for the install.

Couple days later, get a call from another contractor for another install. Scheduled appointment for Thursday from 3-4 PM. No show as of 4:30 PM. I call the contractor and get a voicemail first time. Called back and a guy (sounded very confused, sleepy or drunk) picks up the phone and says " Hello". (Thought I had the wrong number.) I ask him if he is a contractor for the company that was suppose to do my install and he says yes and rattles a couple customer names at me and says that he is running late and got stuck in Greenville. I tell him my name and he then tells me that American Home shield made too many appointments for him and they did not check his schedule. He then says that he might be able to come install later tonight or tomorrow sometime.

I am beyond disappointed at the quality and professionalism of the contractors that have been to my house. I have also been told by the last contractor that they were dropping American Home Shield as a customer. Really thinking of switching home warranty contract with another company.

It took the repair company a little while to come out to our house but that was because they accommodated my schedule. It was tax season and although they were ready to come out, I wasn't and nobody was there. The tech, Charlie, from the contractor, Airtron, came and looked the AC unit over. We just bought the house not too long ago and the first time that we turned on the furnace, we were getting dust all over the house. I thought we were gonna have to have the vents cleaned, but Charlie knew right away that there was no top on the cover where the furnace was. It was just drawn from the attic, so he fixed that. Once he was finished, the quality of the work was excellent and everything works.

The service companies that AHS selected to represent them have been great. They were knowledgeable and fast. They told me when they were gonna be at our house, then they arrived promptly and told me exactly what they were doing. I would like to know, though, how I can renew my warranty with AHS for next year and if they would send me a renewal thing.

Sears is unable to do anything with it because they cannot read the model number nor serial number which have been erased from the stove because of the age of the item. When they came, their tech saw it and tried to look for the stuff but then said that they're not allowed to touch it and they don't have anything to go on. He seriously doubted that there would even be parts available to fix it, so he called in and asked that they probably assign through another company. Still, I don't like dealing with Sears because I never had success with them.

I went to the automated system, and I punched in a different number than what AHS has on file. However, AHS did not use that account. It used the account that it has on file for the monthly draft. So, AHS took monies from an account that I had not requested it to, which was a bit alarming.

With the contractors that I've had contact with, I felt like I didn’t have any other alternative. I initially requested another company to come out to service my AC on my second call, and they stated that I couldn’t ask for a different company. I had to stick with the company that they had. Another thing is that when I call to make an order, AHS should give me an option to talk to somebody or talk to an automated system. I’ve come into the conclusion that maybe I have the wrong number. Any time I call and wanted to order, it’s an automated system. And it’s not giving me, “If you want customer service, press zero,” which should be my first option when I call them and I'm in distress. But other than that, my experience with AHS was what I expected.

I've had excellent service from American Home Shield and the techs that they've sent to my home have been outstanding young men. There was one woman as well and she was outstanding too. And what happened here lately is I had a dishwasher that malfunctioned and the warranty had expired. So I called American Home Shield and they sent a technician out. He was very nice, competent, and he pulled the dishwasher away from the wall and saw that the electrical cord from the dishwasher, which went down through the floor into the basement, had frayed. So it was an electrical problem and not a dishwasher problem. He put a piece of tape around it so it wouldn't spark and start a fire, but he pushed the machine back in and said that I had to get an electrician. He was here for about 10 minutes and he left.

I spoke to a young woman today at American Home Shield. I had gotten a letter in the mail that said my $100 didn't go through on my debit card. So I called her about that and she said, "No, the debit card was good," and she said it was because of the fact that it was an electrical problem and not a dishwasher problem. She scheduled an electrical company to come to our home or to get a hold of us within the next 24 to 48 hours.

I had one other event with my garage doors, and I paid the $100. They sent the garage door technician out, and they fixed it. I've referred American Home Shield to my two sons who are now with the company. And I've also discussed American Home Shield with a couple friends of mine saying what outstanding service they've provided. When I called the company, the young people I spoke to were very professional and very responsive and well worth the money every month. I would recommend the company hands down to any of my friends.

My experiences with American Home Shield and TruTech were both really good. We had an issue with our HVAC back in December. It was leaking and water was coming out through the hardwood floors, and it ruined the hardwood in our basement. The AHS website was pretty intuitive and customer service was quick and easy. I told the rep the issue and she assigned TruTech, and they called me a couple of hours later. We had somebody come out who assessed the issue, told us what the problem was and fixed it. We had floors installed today and we called American Home Shield to have TruTech come out again to make sure that the fix they did in January was the right fix and is still working. The tech came, checked the pressure of the coolant in the HVAC and opened up the unit, and he saw that there was no spilling water and everything was clean.

When they couldn’t fix it the first time, they said that they would get the part in and then give us a call. The day they got the part in, they called us and set up an appointment. They came out and put that piece in but it was still messed up. So, they had to bring out the supervisor to find out what was wrong. Even so, they let us know everything and they were informative.

The contractors I came in contact with were outstanding. I had one who was very nice both times he was out here and he explained what he was doing.

When the agitator on our clothes washer quit working and we had to get it repaired, a contractor came out and looked at it. It's an older model, so he wasn’t even sure if the company still made it. The part was found online and it was sent to my house. I called the tech, and he came out yesterday and fixed the problem. I’m very pleased with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield offers a service that I need and so, I’ve been staying with them. However, they do some shady stuff. There was one time I asked a plumber to come out and unclog a drain. It was only supposed to be a one service fee, but they charged me two service fees. I thought they made a simple mistake and I would just call them and they would fix it. It turned out to be a long process of trying to recover my $75 service fee. Eventually, I got the money back but it took way too much of my time. If my time has money, it might not have been worth it, to try to recover that $75. That's how bad it was.

Recently, AHS sent J&A Plumbing. There was one stoppage in the shower area and another one in the kitchen sink. I would’ve been happier if they had done a more thorough job and if the guy said that he would check and see if everything was okay while he was here. It would've been better if they did everything in one trip, instead of making two service calls and then charging me twice. I'm not that satisfied that there were two service charges. There happened to be two plumbing problems almost simultaneously. Right after the shower clogged, the kitchen drain clogged all of a sudden. It didn't seem like it was clogged before because they would have said it was.

When my tenant called to say that he had a problem with the shower and that it was clogged, he didn't say anything about the kitchen at all. Then, after the plumber came, he called again and said that the drain to the shower has been fixed but the drain in the kitchen sink was clogged. It all leads to the same drain, so when they were unclogging the shower, they might have helped clog the main drain from the kitchen. They’re old pipes going from the kitchen to the street and once every year, I have to get a plumber out there to clean it out. So, it's good they did it. Even if it didn't need to be done, it probably would need to be done sooner or later anyway. So, I was willing to pay two service charges. In the prior case, it was clear that there should've been only one service charge. AHS should make it clearer, when two service charges will be charged and when it will not. The way it's worded, it could go either way.

AHS sent Barlow Plumbing Service out to diagnose where the leak was coming from in the kitchen. The tech was able to identify it. I like doing my claims over the phone, to try to get a little bit more specificity. I couldn't really put a lot of detail in it online. I've used AHS once before, like 10 years ago. I only had a few items that went out of service and needed repair. And then, most recently, I just signed up again. And so far, it's been pretty good as far as the coverage.

The only problem with them is getting to customer service can be a little challenging. And then also, it was never really clearly stated that for service calls, if the unit itself goes bad or of there's an issue after it's repaired, they have 60 days to call them back then. I ended up being outside that window and they haven't really been amenable to rectifying that.

I've also noticed that sometimes their service contractors aren't the best. They don't really screen them very well. So we get a lot of general contractors who aren't super good at certain types of manufacturers or whatnot. They can improve on really understanding that not every HVAC is the same or every water heater is the same, and sometimes you need more specialized people and you need them better than being like "they're just certified plumbers, so they're good enough," because that is definitely not the case.

There's a big difference between a plumber that's been certified by the actual manufacturer, who's gone through courses by the manufacturer. They also need to pay special attention to the timeline. That if there is any issues, they need to call back in less than 60 days. So go do your own research on your vendors and go find ones that have good reviews and knows the work. And then tell American Home Shield that you want them to use that rather than relying on American Home Shield.

Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. My inconveniences are minor compared to the service I get. When submitting claims, I log in and the dropdown menu says, "What is it you're looking for?" So, I click what I need and then I get a choice of what could be going wrong, and I make the best guess. And they tell me who they're sending and when they'll be here. It's a little tough to communicate with them directly, but if I tell them I need a furnace guy, they say, "Okay, we're sending so and so." And so and so shows up and seems to do what I want him to do, I'm good with that. But if I have follow up questions to the original request for service, it's hard to get a hold of the office in that manner. I think they hire a callback so then, they send the message forward, and it might get lost in translation but somebody will call me back, and my issue gets resolved eventually. It's just a little awkward.

I recently had a plumbing issue, and they sent Neal's Plumbing out. I had a vent stack that was leaking, and it would have been a big ordeal to cut into the wall of the bathroom, for how long it took, and then replace it. So, I was able to fix it myself. I got some roofing tar and put it on the crack and see if it would hold and it did, so that's the only reason I didn’t follow through with it.

I signed up for AHS pre-tune up A/C service and they assigned my service to Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC program. The A/C company came out (Mar. 28, 2019), did the pre-tune up on my A/C/unit, gave it a good report then left. Now during this weekend the weather was less than seasonal so we went to turn on out heat and it's not working. Now keep in mind my home is less than three years old and never had a problem with the heating system.

I contacted AHS to have Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC come back to check what they did because now it's below 60 degrees in our house. The AHS rep. did not understand English very well and kept trying to give me a work order for heating repair which was not what I was calling for. Finally AHS schedule an appointment with the same A/C company to come back out on Monday between 12-4 pm going three days without a working heating system. Monday (1 April) came after 3 pm and no phone call or email for the A/C company, I called the company to inquire if and when the tech would be coming to fix my heat. The A/C rep. said they are running a little late and would be there within 1.5 hours, but would be there.

Around 5:30 pm I called AHS to complain about the A/C company not showing up. AHS said that would raise this matter up and have someone out to fix the heat. Around 6 pm I went onto AHS to file a complaint but could not because the AHS rep informed me that they handle complaints internally. I continued to chat with the AHS rep doing over what my problem was and the issues I was having with the A/C company they assigned to me. The AHS chat rep (Kevin) assure me that he would put in a work order to have someone out Tuesday (April 3) to fix the heat.

Tuesday (April 3) around 11 am after not hearing from anyone AHS, A/C tech. I took leave from work to go home to handle this matter in pactive. Now this AHC rep. number seven I have talked with to fix my heating issues from the A/C tech pre-tune up service. I got more of the runaround from the AHS rep. to the point I asked to speak with the supervisor.

After going over the past four days of the same problem with the supervisor (Patrick badge# **) he said they cannot give out their last name. The supervisor went on to tell me I need to contact the original (Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC) to have them come back out to fix the problem. This is when I ask for AHS cooperative contact information. The supervisor informed me they (AHS) do not have the contact information to their (AHS) cooperative office. But they did have the contact number to the A/C/ company that started this issue for me to contact. Once I did get someone from the A/C company on the phone. They wanted to have a tech come out on Friday (April 12th), which I did not agree to. When I asked why not now or the next day the A/C company hang the phone up on me.

I ended up getting and paying other A/C/company to come out (April 3) on short notice to fix what Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC had done. The A/C company I contacted fix the issues and will have my business now. I subject that anyone looking to signed up for AHS do their research with more than on website because there are more complaints about the lack of service this company (AHS) is providing.

And he showed my husband what the problem was and if that happens again, we now know what the culprit is. And he also told us that eventually, we may need to have to put new guts in our toilet tank. But for right now, they’re still good and he did something and it’s fixed. It hasn’t leaked since.

My overall experience on a personal level from my own home, I am very satisfied with American Home Shield. I keep renewing it every year. And right now, we’re kind of in a battle because I support AHS. Also, American Home Shield should cover garage doors. They send in an electrician out to fix the garage door problem, and that’s not who you call to fix a garage door problem. You call a garage door company. They should have people who work on garage doors, not an electrician to come out and check the electrical connection. Any idiot can do that. So that’s the only dissatisfaction I have with American Home Shield. Otherwise, they take care of me very well.

I called in the claim over the phone to American Home Shield and the rep I dealt with was very good. Air Pro Master came out on the same day and they took the old hot water heater out and replaced them with the new one. But they had to put it in the middle of the garage floor because the wall had to be repaired. So, they couldn’t put it in its proper place. We’re not gonna be able to replace the wall until some time in the fall because we’re gonna be gone. So, they have to come back and take the water heater from the middle of the garage floor and put it back to where it belongs.

Overall, I did have a concern because of the fact that they had to place the water heater in a different location, and they had to get some extension lines for it, both for the water and for the gas. Then the insurance did not pay for that, so we had to pay extra for that. I thought that they should pay for that, but apparently not. Nevertheless, I'd still recommend AHS.

I love American Home Shield. My heat was not working and I submitted a claim for it. I did that on the phone, and I really liked it. It was just a simple fix and Liberty Plumbing & Heating came out the next day for it. I had three services in three weeks, and they fixed the problem within minutes. The problem wasn't a real problem, but I didn't know how to address it. I would usually use my regular plumber and he always makes me go buy a bunch of stuff I don't need. The contractors I got from AHS were knowledgeable of what they were talking about. The troubleshooting was awesome. My heat is now nice and toasty. My sink is working, and my hot water heater is working. Including my stove, it is thousands of dollars to replace that all three. AHS is really good. I like the product.

We bought a new home, and got American Home Shield as a safety net to make sure we had an extra coverage just in case something goes wrong in the future. I've had a home warranty before with a previous house. But now, it's more automated where you basically go online. And if you need anything done, you kinda view all your information online and what happens after is you get confirmation and then you get some calls saying which payment with your deductible. You kinda do all that online as opposed to doing it over phone, which was actually pretty simple and quick. And I got a quick response and turnaround time with the company that came out to service the house.

Sirius Plumbing and Air Conditioning came for a preventative check. They did a pre-summer cooling inspection to make sure that my air conditioning was working efficiently. The contractors were pretty professional and they gave me a courtesy call. We scheduled an appointment and they gave me another courtesy call to remind me 30 minutes before the guy came out that someone was gonna be coming. And this guy actually called me as well telling me that he would be at our house within a 30-minute window. Everything went well.

It's worth for me having American Home Shield. So far, I don't have any complaints at all. Everything has been great. It's a little bit more user-friendly in terms of the automated service they have, in terms of doing everything online. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. It's great to be able to just go online, schedule an appointment, and someone will contact me within a 24-hour window which was actually really good. You hear stories about some of these contract-type services, but my experience was fantastic.

We had to wait and wait to get an operator to talk to us. Jay, the contractor who was sent out was great and he had done his job in a professional manner. The unit is now performing good. Right now, it's making ice and keeping it cold. The only thing I've got a complaint with them is there was one person who came to work on the washing machine and I don't want him back down here. It's very easy to submit a claim with American Home Shield. But because of my area where I live, it's sometimes very difficult to get a repair technician to the house. But as far as their stuff is, it's really easy to go ahead and initiate the repair. You can schedule the payment now or after the repair. Previously, I had a water leak inside my wall. But the technicians never called and never showed. Whenever this kind of thing happens, AHS attempts to make it right. They'll say, "We'll give them 24 hours to contact you and if they don’t contact you, we're gonna find somebody else." I can't just let it sit and leak while I'm waiting for them to find somebody else. I just fixed it myself and I canceled my service request, told them I wasn’t very happy with it.

I recently had 2 contractors come out. I scheduled an electrical repair. The repairs were performed within two days. I also had an AC guy come out for a pre-season tune-up. It took a week for them to actually decide to call me up and make the appointment, but once he showed up, they were great. He was extremely pleasant, very helpful, knowledgeable and I had no issues with the service call at all. I would definitely recommend AHS. It's a good thing to have this day and age. Though I'm not gonna renew American Home Shield when it expires in 30 days, I am happy with the service.

It allowed for six keys to be rekeyed, and we ended up paying for four more to be done. American Home Shield was very responsive to that and the provider they sent was very good. When I submit a claim with American Home Shield, I typically do it over the phone. I do a lot of things online, but it’s a lot easier for me to submit claims over the phone without having to remember these passwords and all this other stuff. Then there was an email that came from AHS for the pre-summer tune-up. During that time, the person that AHS sent out found some issues with the AC. He did things while he was here and he would've taken care of everything if he could, but there was one part that he didn’t have in his truck. So, he came back two days later and in the meanwhile, American Home Shield had contacted me.

One of the parts that the technician repaired was one on the outside compressors. Here in the Las Vegas area, it’s pretty hot in the summertime. And if that thing fails during the summertime, it may be a few days before we’re actually able to rectify it. So that’s the whole purpose of doing this with American Home Shield. I wanted to take care of it ‘cause right now the temperature is very reasonable. I was very happy that the technician found the problems. He was also very efficient, on time and his personality was good.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for a rental house as I was told that the air conditioner outside was a little noisy. It was cooling but it’s actually not cooling adequately. Last summertime, the motor outside was replaced too. The tech that came out checked all the pressures and checked everything else, and everything was fine and worked good. It was blowing out cold air. I went out there and checked it out myself, and it seems fine to me too. The tech from US Air was timely. He’s been out there multiple times in the past for the air conditioner and he has always done a good work. I’m happy with that company coming out there and checking things out. It has always been the same guy, so he’s familiar with it.

I've had an experience with a different company and they were accusing me of going out there and basically opening up the Freon house and letting it loose. So, I told them to just leave the premises and not come back. I've had bad experience with some of the contractors but not with American Home Shield themselves. Most of the time, I submit claims through the automated service but when I submit claims through the phone, the reps I've talked to have been nice. I signed up with American Home Shield last fall. I liked the lady who spoke to me on the phone and I liked everything she had to say because I was looking to switch home warranty companies. I'd heard good things about AHS. They had great customer service and they're quick in sending somebody out. I did my research online as well and saw the ratings. But it's been a little painful on the phone with these folks.

The first time I had to submit a claim, one vendor came out but he didn't fix the issue. Since I had familiarity with a different vendor called Multi Spec, I called back American Home Shield and told them to solve my problem. They wanted to send the first guy out and I told them that I know they are also partnered with another company. I said that they were the ones who told me that I should use American Home Shield versus the other warrant company I used to use.

Eventually, the rep at AHS said that they'll switch the vendor. But when I asked if I don’t have to pay my service fee again which is $125, the girl was not sure. Because she wasn't clear if I was gonna have to pay it again, which I didn’t like, I asked for a manager. I talked to her and she explained the scenario to me saying the girl on the phone should have not transferred it to a different vendor and should have just sent the other vendor back. She did that and put the other vendor too.

While they may get kicked back by our contract people, it didn't end up like that. Multi Spec came and I was happy. They're good people and the guy was there for a couple of hours. He thought he had the problem fixed, but 40 minutes later, my wife was upstairs wanting to turn the heat on, it didn’t work again. Instead, it was flashing the 11 code.

So I called American Home Shield and it was painful on the phone with them. The guy couldn’t speak very well. I explained the situation and told him that I want Multi Spec to come back, not the first company. I go off the phone with him and I got two emails saying that both companies are coming back. And so I had to call back again and talk to another guy who didn’t understand what I was asking. Eventually, he finally got it, and it seems everything is good now because Multi Spec is coming back. Overall, I do customer service for a living, but as far when I've called, I haven't been thrilled with the AHS reps. While they're friendly to me and then the two gentlemen were nice to me, they didn’t speak very clearly. It was aggravating.

They got somebody out within 24 hrs but I needed a statement from the plumber Carolina Plumbing and Drain or AHS to give to my Insurance company to have damage repaired. It took 2 weeks to find out only a verbal report could be given. The plumber wouldn’t write an invoice nor would AHS provide a written diagnosis. So I couldn’t get my cabinet repaired without a written statement/report. What’s so hard about writing a statement? You’d think they had something to hide.

Customer service at AHS left me on hold for almost 30 minutes while they talked with their authorization department about ok’ing the written report. It would’ve been longer if I hadn’t hung up. When I called about this, they pretended to resolve my issue while placing me on hold for 30 minutes and then hanging up once they saw I wasn't going to. I'm so disappointed in their customer service. They make the rest of the company look horrible! I will no longer tell others to sign up with them as they may suffer the loses that I have. Awful, just AWFUL!

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield online for the heating unit. Getting the claims process started was easy. The reps were able to respond and get somebody out to our home quickly. The interactions we had with the contractor who came was very pleasant. He took the time to explain what was wrong and what was needed to be fixed. He did a great job. Since the repair, the heating unit has been working okay.

When we had a claim for our garage door, the contractor that American Home Shield sent out said that the issue was the spring. He said the way that it would go up, it would jerk. So that was putting different pressure on it. It needed to be a shorter distance to make it a smoother transition around the curve. And when he left, it was like brand-new. We were super happy.

When I first got American Home Shield, the fee was $75 and on the day of the service, you would pay it to the person who came. And you're not gonna pay the $75 separate until you are satisfied with the service. But a phone call would come from American Home Shield, and then the $75 would be processed. Now, the $75 is processed before the service even takes place. But other than that, we're thankful. We've used American Home Shield a handful of times for not huge expenses. We're happy.

My daughter was upstairs in the bathroom taking a shower and I was downstairs in the living room. And I kept hearing this noise, and I finally got up to investigate, and there was water coming through the floor. It wasn't pouring through, but it was not dripping either. This is a house that had been foreclosed on and then flipped. When they put the shower plumbing together, the PVC wouldn't have fit inside the other, so they melted it with heat and put it in there. So it wasn't even sealed.

This is my first home I've ever bought, and American Home Shield is my first home warranty. This is the first time I've used it, too. Everything went smoothly. When I set up the appointment, they emailed me and told me the contractor would come between 8 and 12, and they came midway. And they called me first and said they were about half hour away, which was great. So I got time to put the dogs away. They showed up and they tried really hard to find the leak and they couldn't find it at first but then they found it. They were a good company. The problem's fixed, so I'm happy.

My wife filed a claim with American Home Shield online and we were given an expectation of between 12:30 and 4:00 to expect the contractor out. The contractor was on time and efficient, and our interaction was friendly. I was satisfied with the work he did and the AC has been fine and dandy. We’ve had American Home Shield for about three years now and we’ve been very satisfied. I’ve recommended them to quite a few people as well.

American Home Shield was offered to me when I bought my house. A lot of the appliances in the house were not new so I figured it would just be prudent on my part to save myself a possible big bill and to go ahead and insure the appliances that were already in the house, since I wasn’t in a position at that time to replace any of them as of yet. Within the first two months in the house, I had an issue with my dishwasher and it was the first time I used American Home Shield. They had a technician come out within 24 hours. He diagnosed it and had to order a part. 48 hours after that, he came in and installed the part. Everything has been working fine since. The dishwasher situation was handled pretty quickly and I was satisfied. I went back to work and said that I got AHS that is really good. I also said that if my coworkers do not have it, they might wanna think about it because it is a pretty sweet deal.

When I had a backing up sewer drain, I called American Home Shield as it was easy to do. It was the way they require it and if I don’t call them first and have them set it up, it creates more paperwork. I spoke with Whitney and she was awesome. She helped me out and was right on the ball. When I did the initial call-in, they did not collect a lot of information so, when I called them back that day to let them know how urgent the situation was, within about 25 minutes they had somebody here at my house. The plumbers were here for about an hour unclogging the drain and once the drain unclogged, they packed up their stuff, cleaned up their mess and were gone.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for not even quite a year and I’ve only used them twice. Though I live in a small town and they don’t have a lot of selection for technicians, both times they got first-rate technicians out here. American Home Shield is a great service for its price. It is one of those deals where, unless you’re in a brand-new home with brand-new appliances, you would be dumb not to have some kind of insurance. They do outstanding work and their customer service people are amazing. I do not feel that they could care less when I am talking to their people. It is a one-stop shopping for fixing anything that can break in your home. For 75 bucks, I do not have to make another phone call and hunt a repairman on a Sunday afternoon. I can make the phone call and hand it off to them. They work their magic and I got a repair guy at my house fixing my stuff. It is a no-brainer.

I used to live up in New York and a buddy of mine there told me that he has American Home Shield's insurance. He said that he made his due diligence and that it was the best one to go with. I also read online reviews and after purchasing a home down here in Florida, I decided to do the same and protect myself. I have AHS for four months now and I would give them top marks all around. They were fantastic in getting somebody out here quickly who was very diligent, really careful in what he was doing, and took a look at all the issues that my refrigerator was giving me.

Initially, the first tech that they assigned to my claim came out within days after I filed my service request with AHS and after he fixed what he thought was the problem, the refrigerator was still not working so American Home Shield sent out a different technician from a different store. And that second technician, Alan from All Pro Appliance Service, was out here a few days after the initial technician to look if he could see what the issue was. And he was the one that corrected the problem. It was a little bit of a multi-step process because there were a few different issues going on but I didn’t mind waiting so much as long as the job was done. Ultimately, my refrigerator was fixed and it's running at top form right now. So I'm very happy with the service. Aside from that, Alan was here last week just following up and making sure that everything was okay. So, I couldn't be any happier with his services. I would also recommend AHS.

They sent somebody out within an hour or two. They are fantastic.

I just bought the house in November and the realtor took out with American Home Shield. After they took it out, they called me to let me know they didn't pay all the money. I paid $55 and took a chance. I could've called them before then, but I didn't. They gave me the information but I didn't read it. Then I started reading about them and I told them I'm paying for something and I'm paying these people to come to do something. I can call American Home Shield because my niece has it too. There were initially two issues. One was the dishwasher that would not consistently drain, and the other one was the water that was leaking somewhere, which seemed to be underneath the refrigerator from the water line for the icemaker and cold water dispenser. The tech identified the issue with the refrigerator. He redid the connection and it worked great. He also checked everything with the dishwasher. It drained for him, but then I did another load and it didn't again. He came back out the next day, prepared to replace the pump motor and it has worked beautifully since. He was extremely courteous, professional and it was quite a pleasure to have them work on my appliances. We are looking towards re-upping with American Home Shield in a year when this expires because we see that this has been an incredibly worthwhile investment.

When my washing machine went out, I called American Home Shield and my interaction with their rep was good. Everything was excellent, except for the amount of time it would take get the washing machine replaced. The technician that came out here was excellent though. He knew what he was doing. He came in, got right to work, and said exactly what happened. He told me that the washing machine couldn’t be repaired. It took his report a week and a half to get to AHS, which was unacceptable. And in the meantime, I have clothes piling up.

I bought my own washing machine, but I still haven’t submitted the receipt to AHS and haven’t gotten any money back for my appliance. I bought it online and I could find the receipt online, but I do everything on the phone except for that. They didn’t care and wanted to see receipts. That is what their rules are. I spent more money than they were willing to give and that’s cool, but if the technician says the machine can’t be fixed, AHS needs to give me what they said they were gonna give me. Plus, nobody has followed up with me at all and they don’t know if I got a washing machine or not. At the end of it, the customer service rep doesn't have a clue. Also, the amount of time I spend on hold was ridiculous. I felt that I wasted all that time on hold with no answers.

I recommend AHS to people who don’t have it. They are better than Fidelity, which I left because they would charge 75, come out, then tell me that the machine is broken and that it isn't covered under my contract. In that respect, AHS is excellent. I called them when my heater went out, and the technicians were excellent. Everyone that had been here had been very good.

I've had American Home Shield since February 1998 and I've had it for my last three houses. It's nice to have that insurance and to have that security. If something huge happens, you don’t always have the money right away. I like to do my claims with them online. When I went into ahs.com, I put in what I needed and I either had emails or phone calls that night or the next morning. It was easy. When my attic fan was not working, a guy came out pretty quickly from an electric company, Union Electric, and diagnosed the problem. He's bringing one back tomorrow to replace it so that was good. Total Plumbing also came out on Monday and they were in and out in 15 minutes. It was a good experience too.

I’ve had good experiences with American Home Shield. I’ve only done two claims and I did both of them online. I had one for a bathroom exhaust fan and for the other one, we had a light on the side of our porch, as well as a yard light, that were not coming on. I was told in a chat session from American Home Shield that the yard light would not be covered under the warranty because it wasn’t connected to the house, but the porch light should be.

The electrician came out and looked, and lo and behold, come to find out the porch light was not a light at all, it was a fixture that was covering up a hole that a woodpecker had made and the previous owner had just put this fixture up to cover up the hole. So, I paid $75 for the electrician to come out and tell me that there was no electricity to it. However, when he tracked back the electricity before he figured out that it was just a fixture, he found out that the yard light was shorting out a GFI on the front of the house. So, he disconnected that for me so that it wouldn’t keep tripping.

I had two toilets that needed repairing. The original claim with American Home Shield was done online and I liked the claim process as far as getting everything set up. It was so much more convenient to do it that way than just staying on hold. The contractor, Hardy Plumbing, came out to do the repair. I truly like this contractor. They are really good and they’ve done a good job every time I’ve had them come out and do repairs.

But when I went up to clean the upstairs toilet over the weekend, I saw the water on the floor. When the part in the tank was put in, it wasn’t screwed in tight enough or sealed properly, and it was dripping. So, I asked the contractor to come back and fix the drip from the tank. I called and reported the problem on the same work order number. I wasn’t sure how to enter it online, so I needed to come back out and call, then go online again and make the request. The representative that I spoke with who handled my situation was wonderful. The contractor was back there on Monday and the upstairs toilet seems to be working fine now. I haven’t been up there to clean it because I do that once a week. But I took a glance behind the toilet where it was dripping before and it’s dry now, so it seems like everything’s in working order.

The person that came out and handled the work this time was very nice, courteous and helpful. He got the job done, but when I had to call him back he realized his mistake and what had happened right away. He was there less than 10 minutes to get the problem fixed and he did a very good job. The only time I had a problem was when AHS sent another plumbing company out and I never heard from them, so I requested not to have them. But every time I’ve had to have something done at the house, AHS has always been exceptionally good.

I first gave American Shield a call to have someone come out and see if my microwave could be repaired. But it's 18 years old and they didn't have parts for it anymore. So a new one was ordered. It came. Within two days, Shapiro came out and installed it, and everything was fraudless. It just popped right in. We had to do a few changes. He could not cut, so I did the cutting for the back end. But it worked out great.

When AHS sent someone out they took down the information but it was over the phone. We actually had two contractors. The first one came in to assess the microwave that we had and if it could be repaired. And they did not do the actual installation. With the first one I kind of prefer to have a dialogue with somebody, and they didn't really wanna communicate. They just wanted to make that assessment and leave. But that's fine. The second one I could discuss with him. I was a little concerned about installing it with this new trim on it because I wasn't sure if it's with them and we discussed it. Now, it's all very good.

So I would say the first contractor that came, I wasn't so pleased with because there was little communication on his part. The actual installation folks, it was perfect. They spent some good time with us and they walked away and everything was installed just perfectly. I would suggest that if there is someone that is considering, that they read the contract very closely so that they don't have any surprises when they wanna use the service.

I've been with AHS since December and so far see it is working for us at least with the microwave. I kind of wonder how it works with a couple of other things, like big ticket items like air conditioner, because I'm not really clear of how much they will compensate you for if a air conditioner has to be replaced. The way in which I came to American Home Shield is that one of my neighbors said, "Boy, I got American Shield. My air conditioner went bad, and they paid for the whole thing except for my deductible." But when I read the paperwork that I have, it appears that they only pay up to a certain amount and I haven't been able to get clarity on that, whether it's all of the air conditioner they pay for or just to prep it. Other than that, everything I see and everything I've experienced so far, I like.
