I was having issues with my garbage disposal and faucet. I made my claim with American Home Shield which was very easy and they had a very fast response time. Their contractor seemed very professional and he knew what he was doing. Since the repair, everything seems to be fine although I have a little bit less water pressure coming out of my newer faucet.

When our heating unit wasn't working, it was horrible because this was when Arizona had a cold spell and we were freezing. I made a claim with American Home Shield and the experience went smoothly. I heard from the company the very next day. Consolidated Mechanical was the contractor given to us and they ordered the parts, got authorization right away, came back out, and fixed the issue with our heating unit. In a few days, the heating unit was all fixed. My wife said the contractor was very professional. I thought the same when I scheduled with them. They were proficient as well. American Home Shield was a referral by a friend and I have recommended them to a friend too who signed up with them.

I had a furnace that was not working very well. I submitted a claim online. It was easy doing that. I submitted a claim around 7:30 in the morning and somebody was out there around 9:50. It was darn fast. He came over and fixed the furnace. I've had them out a few times for different things with our furnace and they also did my air conditioning unit. They were awesome. Their techs have been really good, so I liked them. They also seemed like they were quick to explain everything. After the furnace repair, the performance has been great. I recommend American Home Shield. Usually, if I hear of anybody getting a home, I always tell them that I use American Home Shield and that I enjoy it and it's good for us.

I like our warranty from American Home Shield. It helped us a lot with our AC unit and everything in this house. Recently all the plugs were not working. My husband called the AHS 1-800 number filing a claim. Someone came out and he did his job. Now the plugs are working.

Let me start by saying I've been with this company for over 4 years. We're going on our 5th year. I have put in the couple of service requests that were handled in a timely manner and were taking care of to the best of the ability of the technicians that came out and I've had others that have been nightmares and this recent nightmare and the one just before it have led me to make this review. Let's start with the current dilemma and understand I am at the end of my rope because I do not feel I should work so hard to get the results that are within my policy. I do not feel like spending the next 5 hours trying to call the Philippines to try to get roped around and put on hold because this has been the experience in the past.
My air conditioner went out at the an inopportune moment last year right in the heat of the summer when it was over a 100゚here in Texas and it took them over AM 3 weeks to get it fixed. The last night was totally unbearable. I had to resort to going to a hotel and taking my family there but finally they said they fixed that. It was not fixed. Come September when we turned on the heat the pump made a weird and crazy noise and it failed again. They sent a technician out two times within the a month span and he said he fix that and now a mere 4 months later I turned the air conditioner on for the 1st time of this season and it's starting to make a wild noise and it's not cooling the house.
I called American Home Shield again to be told that it's only a 60 day warranty and I would have to pay for another service call. I think this is ridiculous. There is nothing out there that's only warranted parts or service or labor that you would ever pay the hundreds of dollars we pay year for only a 60 day window especially when during those periods of time that system can be completely off so you would know that there was any problem until you went to turn it back on. I have made 2 calls in the last 3 days and I would like someone to come out and look at my heater/air conditioner and actually get it fixed and not with just a band-aid job. And silly me did I mention that I pay the same company to come out twice a year and do a wellness check on my air conditioner and heater and they a both times they said it was everything was fine. Well it's not fine and here we're getting on to summer months and I would like it fixed.

I have been with American Home Shield Warranty for several years now and have always loved the customer service and contractors associated with the company. Here lately (last 2 service appliances) have been a very disappointing experience for me. Not sure if the company has gone through new ownership or reorganizing or such but the quality of service has decreased tremendously. The website has changed and you are no long able to communicate via email with them, you are on hold for a very long time and even the chat rooms have waiting. Nearly impossible to get a live person for immediate help. The contractors that have been out to my house the last two times have been very unprofessional and rather rude.
My last appliance was my over the counter microwave that lost power. Contractor came out and said that I needed a new microwave. So I go through the process of ordering my new microwave. Microwave comes in and a new contractor comes to install. They try to uninstall my microwave and said that I had to hire a contractor to come and remove my non working microwave in order for them to install my new microwave??? (It was just 2 screws). So, my husband and son uninstall the old microwave with ease and I then call the contractor back to come back and install the new one. Was then told that I had to contact American Home Shield to put in another work order for the install.
Couple days later, get a call from another contractor for another install. Scheduled appointment for Thursday from 3-4 PM. No show as of 4:30 PM. I call the contractor and get a voicemail first time. Called back and a guy (sounded very confused, sleepy or drunk) picks up the phone and says " Hello". (Thought I had the wrong number.) I ask him if he is a contractor for the company that was suppose to do my install and he says yes and rattles a couple customer names at me and says that he is running late and got stuck in Greenville. I tell him my name and he then tells me that American Home shield made too many appointments for him and they did not check his schedule. He then says that he might be able to come install later tonight or tomorrow sometime.
I am beyond disappointed at the quality and professionalism of the contractors that have been to my house. I have also been told by the last contractor that they were dropping American Home Shield as a customer. Really thinking of switching home warranty contract with another company.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

Serviceman said my disposal had to be replaced, AHS would only replace with a cheap brand far less the quality of mine and plumbing would be needed to make it work. I would have to pay to have plumbing done $175.00. I could have replaced my garbage disposal with an upgrade for $169.00 and saved the $75.00 service fee. I think AHS is a ripoff. I've paid for a premium plan and then when I use it it's worthless. Make sure you read between the lines before you purchase a home warranty. I now agree these home warranty are worthless.

American Home Shield hired Total Air Care Inc to do a check up of my air conditioning system. American Home Shield charged me $75. We had scheduled appts 4 different times for the service to be done and the technician never made it to my house. Because this is a vacation home, I had to make arrangements for these failed appointments only to have to reschedule. This last scheduled appointment I made a special trip to be here for the technician but he did not make it to my house for the appointment. I asked for a refund and American Home Shield said that because the technician had been dispatched (even though he never provided the service) they would not honor a refund.
Joseph,
I just sent you an email. I look forward to assisting you.

We came off of 3800.00. Our water heater went out. The company they use couldn't come on the weekend. Didn't make it until Tuesday, he advised water heat out... Well guess American Home Shield denied our claim, and I called. We was hold for 30 mins. They gave some bull!! I advised let me speak to supervisor. They had us on hold another 30 mins. Advised we can do the cash out option. Transferred us and was on hold 20 mins and the recording said, "I'm sorry. We are close" and hung up!!!! Do not do not use them. I am going to Better Business Bureau, their corporate office and also our local news Aikens army to go after you... More than $3300 wasted and then you'll charged us today after I hung up a $100 service fee and you'll didn't do nothing!!!!

My water heater stopped working and started blowing out cold. Then my toilet was backed up for some reason. I submitted my claim with American Home Shield online since it's usually hard doing this over the phone. It would be an hour or two if I tried to get somebody on. On the other hand, I would get right through if I did it online. But the thing is, I had to wait days for my service. Once I filed the claim, it took the contractor, Still Waters Plumbing, four days to come out for the service call. Their technician was really good and I liked him. My water heater was fixed, but my toilet was still backed up after he left. I never called back though. I'm not gonna keep giving them $75 over and over for something they don't fix.
The AHS warranty has gotten really expensive and every year the rates go higher. Last year, the cost was 600 and now I have to pay 700 bucks even if I only used the service once. So, sometimes I don't think the service is worth the cost. Still, I like the service of AHS. It's a good service to have when you're a homeowner.

The first year was $500, paid at the real estate transaction but then a bill came with a hefty increase in the yearly amount. Over $700. Option to pay annually or monthly so I paid for one month. Two weeks later, after my check cleared for the monthly payment, I get an email saying account is past due and I must pay quarterly. After an hour on the phone, nothing. Waiting and hearing the same BS from a person who barely speaks my language and it was hard to communicate. I go online trying to email someone but there is no email option. I replied to the email I received but it goes to an unmonitored location. I want to cancel and find another company but can't even figure out how to cancel!!! UGH.

I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for my refrigerator freezer and getting the claims process started was very easy. However, we are on our sixth service call and the appliance is still not fixed. The contractors keep ordering new parts and we are hopeful that they will fix it, but so far, there has been no success. Nonetheless, the guy is fabulous and he knows his stuff. He is very professional and shows up on time. He spent a lot of time with my freezer, although I feel that after six calls, AHS should just replace it.

I purchased my home and wanted to get everything rekeyed because I don’t know the neighborhood, who had lived there besides the owners, and who had access. I filed a claim to American Home Shield online and got an email right away with an attachment. It said that I would get contacted within 24 hours, but the guy from A.S.A.P. Lock and Key contacted me six minutes later. He was at my house 20 minutes after he talked to me. He made us new keys and everything works. He was nice and did the job. This has been my first experience with American Home Shield and I was a little concerned because I’ve seen mixed reviews online. But I had a good experience with them.

I called American Home Shield and the claims rep was a very nice young man. I would use him again. The technician repaired the dryer. He had to order a switch and a thermostat, and the dryer is doing fine now. He did a good job and we were pleased. Not knowing the condition of a home when you buy it, having a home warranty is a great thing.

The heat on the dryer wasn't working any longer. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the experience was good. The techs couldn’t find out what the problem was in the beginning so, it took them three trips before they figured it out. When they couldn’t fix it the first time, they said that they would get the part in and then give us a call. The day they got the part in, they called us and set up an appointment. They came out and put that piece in but it was still messed up. So, they had to bring out the supervisor to find out what was wrong. Even so, they let us know everything and they were informative.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield early morning for a plumbing stoppage in the kitchen. It seems that you can choose from four companies to do the work and I randomly pick H & H Plumbing. I called them an hour later and I was told technicians would be there in the afternoon from 2:00 to 6:00. They showed up at 5:00. The work was pretty fast and it only took the technicians five minutes to fix it. I've had American Home Shield for two years. I liked the fast service and the online submission which is pretty convenient. The speed of their response is really fast. With some other company, you have to wait for them to call you back and it takes a few days.

My hot water heater went out and at that particular time, I requested my copay, the $75, to come out of a different account. I went to the automated system, and I punched in a different number than what AHS has on file. However, AHS did not use that account. It used the account that it has on file for the monthly draft. So, AHS took monies from an account that I had not requested it to, which was a bit alarming.
With the contractors that I've had contact with, I felt like I didn’t have any other alternative. I initially requested another company to come out to service my AC on my second call, and they stated that I couldn’t ask for a different company. I had to stick with the company that they had. Another thing is that when I call to make an order, AHS should give me an option to talk to somebody or talk to an automated system. I’ve come into the conclusion that maybe I have the wrong number. Any time I call and wanted to order, it’s an automated system. And it’s not giving me, “If you want customer service, press zero,” which should be my first option when I call them and I'm in distress. But other than that, my experience with AHS was what I expected.

I started the claim for my stove with American Home Shield on Monday the first. I have a basic Kenmore stove, with burners on the top with an oven. I'm having problems with the 30 year old unit. Their contractor, Sears said they couldn't come until Thursday. Sears is unable to do anything with it because they cannot read the model number nor serial number which have been erased from the stove because of the age of the item. When they came, their tech saw it and tried to look for the stuff but then said that they're not allowed to touch it and they don't have anything to go on. He seriously doubted that there would even be parts available to fix it, so he called in and asked that they probably assign through another company. Still, I don't like dealing with Sears because I never had success with them.
AHS said that they were gonna call me but then no one called. I called and found out that they have assigned me a company but then I haven't been able to contact them either. A young lady called and I was trying to tell her yesterday that there was a little discrepancy. She called in, and one contractor was telling her one date. But then, she called back when I had already spoken with the contractor and they were saying something different. I really wish that this thing could go to the other level for replacement. Despite this issue, I recommend American Home Shield and I speak to everybody about them.

American Home Shield offers a service that I need and so, I’ve been staying with them. However, they do some shady stuff. There was one time I asked a plumber to come out and unclog a drain. It was only supposed to be a one service fee, but they charged me two service fees. I thought they made a simple mistake and I would just call them and they would fix it. It turned out to be a long process of trying to recover my $75 service fee. Eventually, I got the money back but it took way too much of my time. If my time has money, it might not have been worth it, to try to recover that $75. That's how bad it was.
Recently, AHS sent J&A Plumbing. There was one stoppage in the shower area and another one in the kitchen sink. I would’ve been happier if they had done a more thorough job and if the guy said that he would check and see if everything was okay while he was here. It would've been better if they did everything in one trip, instead of making two service calls and then charging me twice. I'm not that satisfied that there were two service charges. There happened to be two plumbing problems almost simultaneously. Right after the shower clogged, the kitchen drain clogged all of a sudden. It didn't seem like it was clogged before because they would have said it was.
When my tenant called to say that he had a problem with the shower and that it was clogged, he didn't say anything about the kitchen at all. Then, after the plumber came, he called again and said that the drain to the shower has been fixed but the drain in the kitchen sink was clogged. It all leads to the same drain, so when they were unclogging the shower, they might have helped clog the main drain from the kitchen. They’re old pipes going from the kitchen to the street and once every year, I have to get a plumber out there to clean it out. So, it's good they did it. Even if it didn't need to be done, it probably would need to be done sooner or later anyway. So, I was willing to pay two service charges. In the prior case, it was clear that there should've been only one service charge. AHS should make it clearer, when two service charges will be charged and when it will not. The way it's worded, it could go either way.

I've had excellent service from American Home Shield and the techs that they've sent to my home have been outstanding young men. There was one woman as well and she was outstanding too. And what happened here lately is I had a dishwasher that malfunctioned and the warranty had expired. So I called American Home Shield and they sent a technician out. He was very nice, competent, and he pulled the dishwasher away from the wall and saw that the electrical cord from the dishwasher, which went down through the floor into the basement, had frayed. So it was an electrical problem and not a dishwasher problem. He put a piece of tape around it so it wouldn't spark and start a fire, but he pushed the machine back in and said that I had to get an electrician. He was here for about 10 minutes and he left.
I spoke to a young woman today at American Home Shield. I had gotten a letter in the mail that said my $100 didn't go through on my debit card. So I called her about that and she said, "No, the debit card was good," and she said it was because of the fact that it was an electrical problem and not a dishwasher problem. She scheduled an electrical company to come to our home or to get a hold of us within the next 24 to 48 hours.
I had one other event with my garage doors, and I paid the $100. They sent the garage door technician out, and they fixed it. I've referred American Home Shield to my two sons who are now with the company. And I've also discussed American Home Shield with a couple friends of mine saying what outstanding service they've provided. When I called the company, the young people I spoke to were very professional and very responsive and well worth the money every month. I would recommend the company hands down to any of my friends.

I went online and filed a claim for service with American Home Shield for our air conditioner and washer. It was easier for me to do it that way. I got a response from AHS right away and a repair company called me the same day. It took the repair company a little while to come out to our house but that was because they accommodated my schedule. It was tax season and although they were ready to come out, I wasn't and nobody was there. The tech, Charlie, from the contractor, Airtron, came and looked the AC unit over. We just bought the house not too long ago and the first time that we turned on the furnace, we were getting dust all over the house. I thought we were gonna have to have the vents cleaned, but Charlie knew right away that there was no top on the cover where the furnace was. It was just drawn from the attic, so he fixed that. Once he was finished, the quality of the work was excellent and everything works.
The service companies that AHS selected to represent them have been great. They were knowledgeable and fast. They told me when they were gonna be at our house, then they arrived promptly and told me exactly what they were doing. I would like to know, though, how I can renew my warranty with AHS for next year and if they would send me a renewal thing.

My experiences with American Home Shield and TruTech were both really good. We had an issue with our HVAC back in December. It was leaking and water was coming out through the hardwood floors, and it ruined the hardwood in our basement. The AHS website was pretty intuitive and customer service was quick and easy. I told the rep the issue and she assigned TruTech, and they called me a couple of hours later. We had somebody come out who assessed the issue, told us what the problem was and fixed it. We had floors installed today and we called American Home Shield to have TruTech come out again to make sure that the fix they did in January was the right fix and is still working. The tech came, checked the pressure of the coolant in the HVAC and opened up the unit, and he saw that there was no spilling water and everything was clean.

They gave me a timeframe the tech would be here, and he called me about 45 minutes before he actually showed up. The tech was very professional as far as the quality of work. He knew what he was doing. He just checked out the air conditioner and made sure it was working properly. I even told him that I had a little bit of a problem late in the season last year and the unit was making a noise, and he said, “No, you probably just had an animal or something got in there, and it chopped him all up.”

AHS sent Barlow Plumbing Service out to diagnose where the leak was coming from in the kitchen. The tech was able to identify it. I like doing my claims over the phone, to try to get a little bit more specificity. I couldn't really put a lot of detail in it online. I've used AHS once before, like 10 years ago. I only had a few items that went out of service and needed repair. And then, most recently, I just signed up again. And so far, it's been pretty good as far as the coverage.
The only problem with them is getting to customer service can be a little challenging. And then also, it was never really clearly stated that for service calls, if the unit itself goes bad or of there's an issue after it's repaired, they have 60 days to call them back then. I ended up being outside that window and they haven't really been amenable to rectifying that.
I've also noticed that sometimes their service contractors aren't the best. They don't really screen them very well. So we get a lot of general contractors who aren't super good at certain types of manufacturers or whatnot. They can improve on really understanding that not every HVAC is the same or every water heater is the same, and sometimes you need more specialized people and you need them better than being like "they're just certified plumbers, so they're good enough," because that is definitely not the case.
There's a big difference between a plumber that's been certified by the actual manufacturer, who's gone through courses by the manufacturer. They also need to pay special attention to the timeline. That if there is any issues, they need to call back in less than 60 days. So go do your own research on your vendors and go find ones that have good reviews and knows the work. And then tell American Home Shield that you want them to use that rather than relying on American Home Shield.

Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. My inconveniences are minor compared to the service I get. When submitting claims, I log in and the dropdown menu says, "What is it you're looking for?" So, I click what I need and then I get a choice of what could be going wrong, and I make the best guess. And they tell me who they're sending and when they'll be here. It's a little tough to communicate with them directly, but if I tell them I need a furnace guy, they say, "Okay, we're sending so and so." And so and so shows up and seems to do what I want him to do, I'm good with that. But if I have follow up questions to the original request for service, it's hard to get a hold of the office in that manner. I think they hire a callback so then, they send the message forward, and it might get lost in translation but somebody will call me back, and my issue gets resolved eventually. It's just a little awkward.
I recently had a plumbing issue, and they sent Neal's Plumbing out. I had a vent stack that was leaking, and it would have been a big ordeal to cut into the wall of the bathroom, for how long it took, and then replace it. So, I was able to fix it myself. I got some roofing tar and put it on the crack and see if it would hold and it did, so that's the only reason I didn’t follow through with it.

We have four doors and they all had a different lock. One night, we couldn't get in because we had the wrong lock. So, we decided to get new doorknobs and sync all of them to one key. And it was wonderful. It was kinda late on a Friday when I called AHS to have that done and a rep from The Locksmith Shop called back when I was unavailable. He explained that they were leaving for the day and that they would call me Monday morning. Then, they called me right away on Monday morning and made an appointment for Tuesday morning. When the tech came, he fixed it in 20 minutes. He was a very nice person and they were a very nice company. I would recommend them to anyone. I have also gone on the website of AHS for so many times and I did not have any problem. It was easy to navigate. Overall, American Home Shield has been great.

I made a call to American Home Shield and asked them to come out to do the inspection and paid the fee. Someone from Bear Plumbing & Rooter came out. They were professional and they gave their best recommendation. However, AHS said that they’re not covering it, and we had to get a new water heater on our own.

I signed up for AHS pre-tune up A/C service and they assigned my service to Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC program. The A/C company came out (Mar. 28, 2019), did the pre-tune up on my A/C/unit, gave it a good report then left. Now during this weekend the weather was less than seasonal so we went to turn on out heat and it's not working. Now keep in mind my home is less than three years old and never had a problem with the heating system.
I contacted AHS to have Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC come back to check what they did because now it's below 60 degrees in our house. The AHS rep. did not understand English very well and kept trying to give me a work order for heating repair which was not what I was calling for. Finally AHS schedule an appointment with the same A/C company to come back out on Monday between 12-4 pm going three days without a working heating system. Monday (1 April) came after 3 pm and no phone call or email for the A/C company, I called the company to inquire if and when the tech would be coming to fix my heat. The A/C rep. said they are running a little late and would be there within 1.5 hours, but would be there.
Around 5:30 pm I called AHS to complain about the A/C company not showing up. AHS said that would raise this matter up and have someone out to fix the heat. Around 6 pm I went onto AHS to file a complaint but could not because the AHS rep informed me that they handle complaints internally. I continued to chat with the AHS rep doing over what my problem was and the issues I was having with the A/C company they assigned to me. The AHS chat rep (Kevin) assure me that he would put in a work order to have someone out Tuesday (April 3) to fix the heat.
Tuesday (April 3) around 11 am after not hearing from anyone AHS, A/C tech. I took leave from work to go home to handle this matter in pactive. Now this AHC rep. number seven I have talked with to fix my heating issues from the A/C tech pre-tune up service. I got more of the runaround from the AHS rep. to the point I asked to speak with the supervisor.
After going over the past four days of the same problem with the supervisor (Patrick badge# **) he said they cannot give out their last name. The supervisor went on to tell me I need to contact the original (Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC) to have them come back out to fix the problem. This is when I ask for AHS cooperative contact information. The supervisor informed me they (AHS) do not have the contact information to their (AHS) cooperative office. But they did have the contact number to the A/C/ company that started this issue for me to contact. Once I did get someone from the A/C company on the phone. They wanted to have a tech come out on Friday (April 12th), which I did not agree to. When I asked why not now or the next day the A/C company hang the phone up on me.
I ended up getting and paying other A/C/company to come out (April 3) on short notice to fix what Xtreme Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC had done. The A/C company I contacted fix the issues and will have my business now. I subject that anyone looking to signed up for AHS do their research with more than on website because there are more complaints about the lack of service this company (AHS) is providing.

March 8th, I made two separate claims, one on a furnace and one on our refrigerator. In regards to the furnace, we are on our second company, and have had four total visits and it is still not fixed. The second company actually said that the first company broke a piece off of a motor fan which she made me take a picture of.
In regards to the refrigerator, we are on our second company, and have had six visits. It is still not fixed. I’ve tried calling American Home Shield and get the same standard answer about them understanding “how frustrating it is,” and “rest assured it will be fixed.” It sounds like they’re reading from a piece of paper, and after looking at the same responses that American Home Shield leaves on this website, all of their employees must use a script. I’ve tried contacting them via email through their website and twice, and have had no response.
I can’t even get a hold of the refrigerator appliance person either, so I don’t how long this will take. It would be nice if they contacted me with updates or let me know how long this will take. A month? For both appliances? Not acceptable service. I’ve had to take 10 days off work for both of these appliances and service visits, and since March 8th. Talking to a human being that’s not outsourced, is easy to understand, and isn’t reading off a piece of paper is not too much ask for.

I called American Home Shield to attempt to lower my monthly payment and change my plan. I have been with them almost two years and this one one of my first interactions with anyone. I spoke to a person in billing and I was told I couldn’t change my plan. I tried several times to explain what I wanted to do and was told I can’t change anything (even though I was not in contract). I then asked to speak with a supervisor and was denied several times. I was told the supervisor was too busy and would tell me the same thing. The representative would NOT transfer me to a supervisor after several requests.
My big mistake was not taking the incompetent representative's name. A few weeks later I called back in an attempt to resolve things and file a complaint. I was told without a name I couldn’t file a complaint. Even though the calls are recorded. This company will no longer get my business and any person I know I will refer away from American Home Shield. I would give zero stars if it was allowed.

I had a toilet that was leaking water, and the guy from Taz Plumbing fixed it. He did it satisfactorily. And he showed my husband what the problem was and if that happens again, we now know what the culprit is. And he also told us that eventually, we may need to have to put new guts in our toilet tank. But for right now, they’re still good and he did something and it’s fixed. It hasn’t leaked since.
My overall experience on a personal level from my own home, I am very satisfied with American Home Shield. I keep renewing it every year. I’m good friends with the AHS south western representative, and when I have problems, she helps me get them resolved. But a buyer doesn’t want AHS because they don’t cover roof problems. And right now, we’re kind of in a battle because I support AHS. Also, American Home Shield should cover garage doors. They send in an electrician out to fix the garage door problem, and that’s not who you call to fix a garage door problem. You call a garage door company. They should have people who work on garage doors, not an electrician to come out and check the electrical connection. Any idiot can do that. So that’s the only dissatisfaction I have with American Home Shield. Otherwise, they take care of me very well.

We bought a new home, and got American Home Shield as a safety net to make sure we had an extra coverage just in case something goes wrong in the future. I've had a home warranty before with a previous house. But now, it's more automated where you basically go online. And if you need anything done, you kinda view all your information online and what happens after is you get confirmation and then you get some calls saying which payment with your deductible. You kinda do all that online as opposed to doing it over phone, which was actually pretty simple and quick. And I got a quick response and turnaround time with the company that came out to service the house.
Sirius Plumbing and Air Conditioning came for a preventative check. They did a pre-summer cooling inspection to make sure that my air conditioning was working efficiently. The contractors were pretty professional and they gave me a courtesy call. We scheduled an appointment and they gave me another courtesy call to remind me 30 minutes before the guy came out that someone was gonna be coming. And this guy actually called me as well telling me that he would be at our house within a 30-minute window. Everything went well.
It's worth for me having American Home Shield. So far, I don't have any complaints at all. Everything has been great. It's a little bit more user-friendly in terms of the automated service they have, in terms of doing everything online. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. It's great to be able to just go online, schedule an appointment, and someone will contact me within a 24-hour window which was actually really good. You hear stories about some of these contract-type services, but my experience was fantastic.

We had an issue with our hot water heater. The water did some damage to the wall, and now the drywall had to be replaced. I called in the claim over the phone to American Home Shield and the rep I dealt with was very good. Air Pro Master came out on the same day and they took the old hot water heater out and replaced them with the new one. But they had to put it in the middle of the garage floor because the wall had to be repaired. So, they couldn’t put it in its proper place. We’re not gonna be able to replace the wall until some time in the fall because we’re gonna be gone. So, they have to come back and take the water heater from the middle of the garage floor and put it back to where it belongs.
Overall, I did have a concern because of the fact that they had to place the water heater in a different location, and they had to get some extension lines for it, both for the water and for the gas. Then the insurance did not pay for that, so we had to pay extra for that. I thought that they should pay for that, but apparently not. Nevertheless, I'd still recommend AHS.

It's very easy to submit a claim with American Home Shield. But because of my area where I live, it's sometimes very difficult to get a repair technician to the house. But as far as their stuff is, it's really easy to go ahead and initiate the repair. You can schedule the payment now or after the repair. Previously, I had a water leak inside my wall. But the technicians never called and never showed. Whenever this kind of thing happens, AHS attempts to make it right. They'll say, "We'll give them 24 hours to contact you and if they don’t contact you, we're gonna find somebody else." I can't just let it sit and leak while I'm waiting for them to find somebody else. I just fixed it myself and I canceled my service request, told them I wasn’t very happy with it.

I do a lot of things online, but it’s a lot easier for me to submit claims over the phone without having to remember these passwords and all this other stuff. Then there was an email that came from AHS for the pre-summer tune-up. During that time, the person that AHS sent out found some issues with the AC. He did things while he was here and he would've taken care of everything if he could, but there was one part that he didn’t have in his truck. So, he came back two days later and in the meanwhile, American Home Shield had contacted me.
One of the parts that the technician repaired was one on the outside compressors. Here in the Las Vegas area, it’s pretty hot in the summertime. And if that thing fails during the summertime, it may be a few days before we’re actually able to rectify it. So that’s the whole purpose of doing this with American Home Shield. I signed up with American Home Shield last fall. I liked the lady who spoke to me on the phone and I liked everything she had to say because I was looking to switch home warranty companies. I'd heard good things about AHS. They had great customer service and they're quick in sending somebody out. I did my research online as well and saw the ratings. But it's been a little painful on the phone with these folks.
The first time I had to submit a claim, one vendor came out but he didn't fix the issue. Since I had familiarity with a different vendor called Multi Spec, I called back American Home Shield and told them to solve my problem. They wanted to send the first guy out and I told them that I know they are also partnered with another company. I said that they were the ones who told me that I should use American Home Shield versus the other warrant company I used to use.
Eventually, the rep at AHS said that they'll switch the vendor. But when I asked if I don’t have to pay my service fee again which is $125, the girl was not sure. Because she wasn't clear if I was gonna have to pay it again, which I didn’t like, I asked for a manager. I talked to her and she explained the scenario to me saying the girl on the phone should have not transferred it to a different vendor and should have just sent the other vendor back. She did that and put the other vendor too.
While they may get kicked back by our contract people, it didn't end up like that. Multi Spec came and I was happy. They're good people and the guy was there for a couple of hours. He thought he had the problem fixed, but 40 minutes later, my wife was upstairs wanting to turn the heat on, it didn’t work again. Instead, it was flashing the 11 code.
So I called American Home Shield and it was painful on the phone with them. The guy couldn’t speak very well. I explained the situation and told him that I want Multi Spec to come back, not the first company. I go off the phone with him and I got two emails saying that both companies are coming back. And so I had to call back again and talk to another guy who didn’t understand what I was asking. Eventually, he finally got it, and it seems everything is good now because Multi Spec is coming back. Overall, I do customer service for a living, but as far when I've called, I haven't been thrilled with the AHS reps. While they're friendly to me and then the two gentlemen were nice to me, they didn’t speak very clearly. It was aggravating.

With our washer, my husband read the reviews for the repair company they chose, they have one star, multiple reviews were saying that the repair people stole items from their houses.
My husband called Home Shield and the rude operator told him they don't care about online reviews. We had to talk to a manager who agreed to sending another repair person who told me one thing and home shield alleged that he told them other thing that our washing machine is just fine, and they refused to repair it after we were charged the money for the repair person's visit. I called customer service twice today, they are rude, unprofessional, disrespectful, unethical, and liars. Bottom line, don't waste your money, your time, and your nerves in such a scam company. You will get nowhere with this rip off business.

I have been with this company for 5 or 6 years. During that time I have seen the rates increase and the coverage decrease. For example I have had issues with plumbing and they would send a plumber out for the $100 deductible every two months to clear the pipe of roots that had gotten in the system. When I decided to have the problem fixed I was told that they do not cover roots in plumbing and refused to pay. Also I have attempted to cancel my contract on 3 properties for over a month now and they still have not cancelled my contract and send me notices of past due balances. Every time I call they tell me the same thing that the last person hasn't cancelled it but they will make sure it gets cancelled. I even waited on the phone for 30 mins to speak to a supervisor only to be told the same thing they will send an email and have it cancelled. Save yourself the headache and money.

Also last month leaked water heater. I currently reside in a different state than the property that I insure with American Home Shield and I thought this would be added peace of mind for potential issues but apparently I was wrong. My property has a rooftop A/C and only one service provider in that area can come out to provide maintenance for that reason. This property is in a Midwestern location and any weather under 60 degrees prevents service calls. Additionally, in trying to coordinate times for service and a person to be there for the service I was told by AHS that my case would stay open.
This was in 2018. Well winter happened and now that I call back to schedule those services I am being asked to pay the claim fee again for a service I never got even got. The vendor is willing and able to provide the analysis and service need but AHS is refusing to honor what we agreed upon. This is troublesome because I am currently under contract to sell this property very soon and my buyer has been made aware of what was an open claim that shows in closed status on the AHS side but on the actual claim it says that I just need to contact the provider directly.

After several minutes she assured me that it was taken care of. The beginning of the month they deducted payment from my account against and so I called back being assured it was now in their system. Still no luck. After 4 phone calls finally was able to cancel but only received a partial refund. Bad business practices. Beware. They will take your money fast but won’t let you cancel easily. Had to call the bank to prevent them from taking even more. I would recommend paying a little more for another company.

I canceled my service today just after 3 months. My dryer was not working. They schedule a tech which I had to wait 8 am to 5 pm. Seems like they would narrow the time down like other companies do, nope. Well I had 2 no shows, then a tech that said it was the timer. He ordered the part. Then 2 more no shows, then another tech came to replace the part. Well it was not that part, another order for the motor, then another 2 no shows, then a 3rd tech came out and said it was electrical breaker, so he did nothing.
I called a real company out and paid out of my pocket. They repaired the dryer that caused the electrical issue. Now it is fixed after 8 visits from the warranty, 75 fee and the monthly fees. I called about my garage door springs. A tech came out today to say the warranty does not cover it. So with a 75 service fee and 500 since the warranty is not paying. Yep this is a scam, I have canceled and requesting a refund. I am out of money that should not have been charged to me along with missed days of work. I read the reviews and trusted them. I am amazed that American Home Shield is not out of business. Lesson learned for me.

I had an LG refrigerator that the compressor went out on. I placed my call for repairs. They could not find anyone and told me I had to find someone and they would cover it but I had to have the tech call them to get approval on the cost and estimate. I did that, they approved it. I was trying to help save AHS some money so I finally found my Warranty info and had the tech use that, which cut the cost in half for AHS.
After the repair I sent all the proper info as required to AHS. They denied my claim. I asked why. They said because the fridge was under warranty they they deny all claims. The warranty only cover the cost of the part and not labor, which was more than the part. I complained to no avail. They then sent me a bill for the $100 for the cost of the tech. I paid the tech 100% of the bill. AHS paid nothing and on top of that they made me pay them for absolutely nothing. This is a scam. AHS had every opportunity to tell me the situation beforehand but was misleading, deceptive & dishonest. You should check with the Better Business Bureau complaints before you buy this.

I had two toilets that needed repairing. The original claim with American Home Shield was done online and I liked the claim process as far as getting everything set up. It was so much more convenient to do it that way than just staying on hold. The contractor, Hardy Plumbing, came out to do the repair. I truly like this contractor. They are really good and they’ve done a good job every time I’ve had them come out and do repairs.
But when I went up to clean the upstairs toilet over the weekend, I saw the water on the floor. When the part in the tank was put in, it wasn’t screwed in tight enough or sealed properly, and it was dripping. So, I asked the contractor to come back and fix the drip from the tank. I called and reported the problem on the same work order number. I wasn’t sure how to enter it online, so I needed to come back out and call, then go online again and make the request. The representative that I spoke with who handled my situation was wonderful. The contractor was back there on Monday and the upstairs toilet seems to be working fine now. I haven’t been up there to clean it because I do that once a week. But I took a glance behind the toilet where it was dripping before and it’s dry now, so it seems like everything’s in working order.
The person that came out and handled the work this time was very nice, courteous and helpful. He got the job done, but when I had to call him back he realized his mistake and what had happened right away. He was there less than 10 minutes to get the problem fixed and he did a very good job. The only time I had a problem was when AHS sent another plumbing company out and I never heard from them, so I requested not to have them. But every time I’ve had to have something done at the house, AHS has always been exceptionally good.

When my washing machine went out, I called American Home Shield and my interaction with their rep was good. Everything was excellent, except for the amount of time it would take get the washing machine replaced. The technician that came out here was excellent though. He knew what he was doing. He came in, got right to work, and said exactly what happened. He told me that the washing machine couldn’t be repaired. It took his report a week and a half to get to AHS, which was unacceptable. And in the meantime, I have clothes piling up.
I bought my own washing machine, but I still haven’t submitted the receipt to AHS and haven’t gotten any money back for my appliance. I bought it online and I could find the receipt online, but I do everything on the phone except for that. They didn’t care and wanted to see receipts. That is what their rules are. I spent more money than they were willing to give and that’s cool, but if the technician says the machine can’t be fixed, AHS needs to give me what they said they were gonna give me. Plus, nobody has followed up with me at all and they don’t know if I got a washing machine or not. At the end of it, the customer service rep doesn't have a clue. Also, the amount of time I spend on hold was ridiculous. I felt that I wasted all that time on hold with no answers.
I recommend AHS to people who don’t have it. They are better than Fidelity, which I left because they would charge 75, come out, then tell me that the machine is broken and that it isn't covered under my contract. In that respect, AHS is excellent. I called them when my heater went out, and the technicians were excellent. Everyone that had been here had been very good.

And I kept hearing this noise, and I finally got up to investigate, and there was water coming through the floor. It wasn't pouring through, but it was not dripping either. This is a house that had been foreclosed on and then flipped. When they put the shower plumbing together, the PVC wouldn't have fit inside the other, so they melted it with heat and put it in there. So it wasn't even sealed.

I used to live up in New York and a buddy of mine there told me that he has American Home Shield's insurance. He said that he made his due diligence and that it was the best one to go with. I also read online reviews and after purchasing a home down here in Florida, I decided to do the same and protect myself. I have AHS for four months now and I would give them top marks all around. They were fantastic in getting somebody out here quickly who was very diligent, really careful in what he was doing, and took a look at all the issues that my refrigerator was giving me.
Initially, the first tech that they assigned to my claim came out within days after I filed my service request with AHS and after he fixed what he thought was the problem, the refrigerator was still not working so American Home Shield sent out a different technician from a different store. And that second technician, Alan from All Pro Appliance Service, was out here a few days after the initial technician to look if he could see what the issue was. And he was the one that corrected the problem. It was a little bit of a multi-step process because there were a few different issues going on but I didn’t mind waiting so much as long as the job was done. Ultimately, my refrigerator was fixed and it's running at top form right now. So I'm very happy with the service. American Home Shield was offered to me when I bought my house. A lot of the appliances in the house were not new so I figured it would just be prudent on my part to save myself a possible big bill and to go ahead and insure the appliances that were already in the house, since I wasn’t in a position at that time to replace any of them as of yet. Within the first two months in the house, I had an issue with my dishwasher and it was the first time I used American Home Shield. They had a technician come out within 24 hours. He diagnosed it and had to order a part. 48 hours after that, he came in and installed the part. Everything has been working fine since. The dishwasher situation was handled pretty quickly and I was satisfied. I went back to work and said that I got AHS that is really good. I also said that if my coworkers do not have it, they might wanna think about it because it is a pretty sweet deal.
When I had a backing up sewer drain, I called American Home Shield as it was easy to do. It was the way they require it and if I don’t call them first and have them set it up, it creates more paperwork. I spoke with Whitney and she was awesome. She helped me out and was right on the ball. When I did the initial call-in, they did not collect a lot of information so, when I called them back that day to let them know how urgent the situation was, within about 25 minutes they had somebody here at my house. The plumbers were here for about an hour unclogging the drain and once the drain unclogged, they packed up their stuff, cleaned up their mess and were gone.
I have been a customer of American Home Shield for not even quite a year and I’ve only used them twice. Though I live in a small town and they don’t have a lot of selection for technicians, both times they got first-rate technicians out here. American Home Shield is a great service for its price. It is one of those deals where, unless you’re in a brand-new home with brand-new appliances, you would be dumb not to have some kind of insurance. They do outstanding work and their customer service people are amazing. I do not feel that they could care less when I am talking to their people. It is a one-stop shopping for fixing anything that can break in your home. For 75 bucks, I do not have to make another phone call and hunt a repairman on a Sunday afternoon. I can make the phone call and hand it off to them. They work their magic and I got a repair guy at my house fixing my stuff. It is a no-brainer.
Good afternoon Walter,

I was told in a chat session from American Home Shield that the yard light would not be covered under the warranty because it wasn’t connected to the house, but the porch light should be.
The electrician came out and looked, and lo and behold, come to find out the porch light was not a light at all, it was a fixture that was covering up a hole that a woodpecker had made and the previous owner had just put this fixture up to cover up the hole. So, I paid $75 for the electrician to come out and tell me that there was no electricity to it. However, when he tracked back the electricity before he figured out that it was just a fixture, he found out that the yard light was shorting out a GFI on the front of the house. I first gave American Shield a call to have someone come out and see if my microwave could be repaired. But it's 18 years old and they didn't have parts for it anymore. So a new one was ordered. It came. Within two days, Shapiro came out and installed it, and everything was fraudless. It just popped right in. We had to do a few changes. He could not cut, so I did the cutting for the back end. But it worked out great.
When AHS sent someone out they took down the information but it was over the phone. We actually had two contractors. The first one came in to assess the microwave that we had and if it could be repaired. And they did not do the actual installation. With the first one I kind of prefer to have a dialogue with somebody, and they didn't really wanna communicate. They just wanted to make that assessment and leave. But that's fine. The second one I could discuss with him. I was a little concerned about installing it with this new trim on it because I wasn't sure if it's with them and we discussed it. Now, it's all very good.
So I would say the first contractor that came, I wasn't so pleased with because there was little communication on his part. The actual installation folks, it was perfect. They spent some good time with us and they walked away and everything was installed just perfectly. I would suggest that if there is someone that is considering, that they read the contract very closely so that they don't have any surprises when they wanna use the service.
I've been with AHS since December and so far see it is working for us at least with the microwave. I kind of wonder how it works with a couple of other things, like big ticket items like air conditioner, because I'm not really clear of how much they will compensate you for if a air conditioner has to be replaced. The way in which I came to American Home Shield is that one of my neighbors said, "Boy, I got American Shield. My air conditioner went bad, and they paid for the whole thing except for my deductible." But when I read the paperwork that I have, it appears that they only pay up to a certain amount and I haven't been able to get clarity on that, whether it's all of the air conditioner they pay for or just to prep it. Other than that, everything I see and everything I've experienced so far, I like.

So AHS refused to meet obligation contractually to fix stoppage because I refused to take a 3rd day off from teaching. They kept repeating, "It's in your contract. You must make the accommodations for it". I read the whole contract. All 6 pages. NOwhere does it say I must always be able to be home for repairs between 8-4 M-F Which is the only times I was given. Though it does stipulate AHS' obligations to fix my stuff to which they failed to accommodate.
Good afternoon Charles,
I most certainly understand your concerns regarding the delay in service to repair the stoppage and the technician sent to complete the job. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved.

We have had this warranty for many years, and have not needed to use it. When we finally needed it, it was during a heat wave in June. Our A/C went out, they could not seem to get a company to respond in a timely manner as this is a busy time. It was very difficult to reach customer service and when you would finally get through each person would give me a different answer.
So finally we were approved to use our own company, the company we selected told AHS that it needed to be replaced. Instead AHS opted for the cheaper route to attempt to repair it. Which was approx 800.00. So the repair was done and the A/C then blew the part out as the A/C was bad and needed to be replaced, so 3 weeks later we finally got them to approve and replace it.
The only good thing was we used our own company, but the customer service was horrible and definitely not all on the same page. We now received our renewal and it is double the premium it was the years past. When I call they say their prices went up. Although if I go onto website and select the same services to sign up, it is back at our original price. So, if you end up using AHS just know that after actually using their services then you will have to choose a new company. This is horrible, and sad that this place was actually referred to us.
Good afternoon Valeri,
Your concerns are understood regarding the Consumer Affairs review. I would be glad to speak with you and address your most recent experience to have the repairs completed.

We recently had 2 issues. Our air conditioner was not cooling, and then our heater kept recycling. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield via the phone. The tech came out the next day. He was very professional and thorough. He told us our air conditioner’s 20 years old and we had no Freon and there is a leak in the coil and it was gonna take 10 pounds of Freon, and Freon is going out next year.
Freon is $80 a pound and the only thing they’ll cover is $10 a pound. So, it was gonna cost us $700 just for the rest of this year. So, we elected to go with a new unit. We had a 10 SEER and the new unit is 14 SEER. They do not cover anything on the new unit, and we are not pleased with that. Not one penny. So, we’re out $8,000. Now, we’ve had a water heater that they put in five years ago, they covered the new water heater, which we were very pleased with. We had a thermocouple go out on the new water heater and they covered that. But on this one, they covered zilch. As far as I’m concerned, American Home Shield slurps.
I just sent you an email.

The heater stopped working and I put in the claim for the service. I went into the web, made a report to American Home Shield and I immediately got a contact number for Liberty. I called them in the morning and they were super nice. They were super quick in finding somebody to come over on the same morning, which was a surprise to me because I haven’t had a good experience before. It was my first time with Liberty. The person came out at 12 o'clock and did a very professional job. He got the appliance fixed, troubleshot the cables and figured out that it was the control board. He went and bought a new one. He installed it in an hour and everything was working. He tested the air conditioning and the heater, to check if nothing was broken. That was very professional and he had a very good attitude and communication. He explained everything he was doing and that was a very good job.
I got a repair done in the past with American Home Shield. I have two air conditioning units in the home and the other one stopped working. Somebody came in, fixed it and left before he tested it completely. By the time the guy had left, I realized that it was not working. So, I called him and he said he would come back. Nobody called back. I called them multiple times and they never answered my calls. It was always an answering machine. I struggled to get AHS to call the contractor as well but they never got it rolling. After a while, AHS gave me another company to work with. It was the same story and I complained again, and I just gave up. I fixed it myself. I was in the process for one or two months and I got fed up. I thought that this was gonna be the same, but I was highly surprised that it worked so smoothly and so well with this other company. This case was excellent.

We call American Home Shield when we have a problem, then they tell us who they're gonna send out and when we should expect to have the service done. If I call in the morning, I’ll have the contractors usually in the afternoon. Recently, the pipe underneath the sink had broken open and water was going everywhere. We called in the afternoon and the guy said he would come if he could before the day was over but he ended up coming first thing in the morning. When he came, we told him what the problem was and he fixed the problem. When we bought our house, we had another company, but we weren’t too pleased with it. It was free with the first year of our homeownership, but American Home Shield was cheaper than that one. We’re very satisfied with American Home Shield and we will renew them.

I submitted a claim for my AC unit to American Home Shield. Doing it online was easy and the tech from Royal Flush AC and Heating came out on a scheduled time. The contractor was really professional and patient. He liked explaining some of the problems and solutions. He had to come out a few times. Previously, it took a while for him to diagnose it. But, he was patient with it, and he followed through. He was able to get it to work to a certain point and then it stopped working a couple of weeks later. It turned out, recently, to be that the compressor needed to be replaced. Right now we’re waiting for him in submitting the full report and for AHS to decide what we are gonna do.
Dealing with American Home Shield has been more challenging on the resolution part than the actual technician that came out. It’s not a timing thing. Let’s say it takes $1,000 to replace a compressor, and 1,500 bucks to replace the entire AC unit. But, there’s no sort of logic behind we can pay out 500 bucks out of pocket, and then replace the whole thing. So, that part is a little frustrating.

Both contractors were extremely friendly, answered the dumb questions I had asked, and they did a great job. They explained things and cleaned up after themselves. It was a good experience.
Before the repair, we didn't have the ability to heat the house. But luckily, living in San Antonio, Texas, the whole deal with the cold front is very often. So, we were okay. I've had AHS for five years and all the experiences I've had with them had been positive. I only have used them three times in that timeframe. But every time I've had to use them, they've been great. I submitted a claim with them and they immediately got me in contact with a local furnace repair company. That company was gonna come out that afternoon, but I ended up having them come out the next day. When they came the next day, they immediately found out that there was an issue with the furnace. They called American Home Shield right away, told them what the unit was and its efficiency level, and American Home Shield said that they would be sending a new one out.
The new unit, which actually had a little higher efficiency level than the unit I had before, came a day after that and the repair company installed it. The whole claim was crazy fast and I didn't see a single bill except for the $75 deductible. But while AHS did a like-for-like kind of thing, which made sense, it would have been cool if they had an option where I could pay more and have the ability to upgrade. I've already recommended American Home Shield to two other people and they recently purchased a home warranty from them.

Not acceptable! Contractor tell me nothing they can do & to call AHS again to have another contractor sooner. What a pain to call them again?!?! Called AHS again...another 45 minutes! Another plumbing contractor will contact.
Received a call from APC plumbing. Great right?!?! Rep. scheduled me for the next day yayyy! 3/30 8-12 woohoo. Took time off work waited till 11:30 am. I call the contractor. Left a voicemail. Then, called AHS again. SMH another 40 min! Rep. told me that request was canceled. Why? APC plumbing said that they called me to cancel because they don't work on weekends. Huh? First, of all I didn't get a call from APC. This is not the business company I want to work with, that basically lied ohh heck noooo! So, rep kindly left them a message and sent email. I waited 4 hours & no call. Guess, what I did? Yes, I called AHS again! (Did I say AGAIN?) This call took around 40 min. Basically, told me the same.
I asked if they have any other contractor? She can't cancel this service request until they find out what happened? Why didn't they show? Oh and this company APC plumbing doesn't operate on weekends! LoL... I asked rep to cancel that company and please put in service request for another company. No! All the plumbing contractors do NOT operate weekends. WTHeck. So, why did APC plumbing rep call me on Friday to schedule for Saturday. I asked her about my work time loss due to their negligence or contractor's negligence? She SAID talk to them! Ok, I asked... What about $75 service request fee? I still need to pay that. WOW. Very RUDELY interrupted and talked over me. Warning - DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! APC Plumbing shame on you too. You will get a call from me & -0??? from me! Time loss on phone calls, stressful, and my loss of work!

With American Home Shield, there are a lot of things that aren't covered. You look at the plan trying to see what's covered, and then when it comes down to what really is covered, it's not the same. I've submitted my claims online and over the phone, and doing it over the phone's fine with me. But my experience was not good. We had a problem with cold water not coming out and it is still not fixed. The contractor told me there was air in the piping, so he did something, and then it worked for a while. It was fixed a week or two, but now we're back to not having cold water again. Also, it's so hard for these stupid visits since the contractors won't work on the weekends.
The first people that came were terrible. They just walked in there, looked at the thing, and said they couldn't have a tile moved. And then, they said they could only assist us in the morning. I told AHS to get me another person because it was not gonna work. And so, they got another agency that would come out in the noon to five window, and that was much better. They were good.

I’ll expedite it now.” They did that four times. I asked to speak to someone in the United States and they put me on hold and they stuck me with whoever spoke the best English. I could still hear them in the background and she was definitely not from the United States. When I asked to speak to someone in the United States, they were supposed to put me through to someone in the US, but they did not. I was so furious and it wasn’t even funny. I was point-blank lied to by whatever country it is that takes our calls on the weekend and in the evenings.
When you have sewer coming up in your showers, that is an emergency, but American Home Shield didn’t have anyone that could come on a weekend. We were not able to shower, use the toilet, and run water. We couldn't run the washer and the dishwasher and I was to leave on a trip. American Home Shield had previously sent a plumber out of Springdale who I would never have in my home again. He was rude and condescending. He didn't fix the problem and he tried to fish me for another $350 by saying that he needed to re-plumb underneath my bathroom sink, although it was not where the problem was. I had sewage coming up in my showers after the guy came.
I had to file another claim and I had to pay $82 to get Drain Masters to come back out, which made absolutely no sense to me. It was a previously existing condition that AHS did not fix. I told them I was gonna turn them, American Home Shield and the people from Springdale, in to the Better Business Bureau. We are up to renew soon and it was really making me wonder if I should stay with American Home Shield or not. It was that bad of an experience. Nonetheless, Drain Masters was wonderful. Weyland came in and he ran the machine all the way into the pipes in my house and took care of the problem, whereas the other guy didn't. Weyland snaked it from the opening in my bushes out to the road and so far, it seems to be fine.
I am saddened to hear that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist you with your unresolved matters regarding this request. Thanks for your patience.

American Home Shield is very good. The technician they sent out was also very good and was on time. And as far as his work, it was perfect, but he was an idiot and he thought that I am a moron. He only talked about money. When I asked him questions, he thought that I was an illegal immigrant who doesn't know how to speak English. He had zero human emotion and he was a robot. When he works, he should put in his van, "Don't talk to me. I'll do the job." He didn't want to be talked to. He was busy. When I asked him a question, he thought that I am an idiot and he won't give me an answer. The worst part is he is also an immigrant. He had around 15 customers that day, so he didn't wanna talk.

I've had American Home Shield on and off for many years. So far, my experience in submitting claims with them has been good and I’m happy with them. I usually like filing claims over the phone, so I’m sure that it’s all happening. Also, if I have any questions or if there should be any issues, I can make sure that these are covered. But the one negative was that some years ago they dumped me and I assumed this was because there were too many claims. I wasn’t happy about that, but then they took me back a couple of years later.
Recently, the heater wasn’t reaching the temperature that it was set for. The boiler was shutting itself down and apparently there was some leak. The contractor, United Air Temp, was sent out. They knew what was happening, but it wasn’t clear exactly what was to be done. The contractors that I’ve come into contact with have all been good. If I had an issue with a contractor, AHS was willing to send somebody else, and that worked for me. I would recommend AHS.

One of my co-workers told me how good and reliable American Home Shield was. I figured that the monthly membership was not too bad so it was a good and safe way to cover my appliances. When my washer wasn't working and we had to go to a laundromat to wash, I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they contracted Sears to come out. The representative stayed in touch with me the whole time as far as when he was gonna come over and at what time he was gonna show up. He was very courteous, friendly, and he resolved the problem right away. I'm going to be with American Home Shield for a year now and they do a really good job. My co-worker and I like them. But the prices went up as far as submitting a claim. We'd like for the price to go down a little bit. Hopefully, the already increased price won't change anytime soon as far as going up again.

We had to call our claims in with AHS and I told them I need somebody right away because I have a baby. They asked me what was going on, and they were like, "Yeah, something's definitely going on," and then they put me on hold to try to figure out what to do. The rep figured it out within minutes and then that was it. She gave me the number for me to call to schedule the time frame. And then the other company was already calling me to ask what time they could come in.
The contractor was very quick. As I opened the door, he introduced himself. He had his uniform on and his tools. He said, "Where do you need me to go?" So I showed him exactly. I had maybe 20 minutes that I had to leave because I had to go to work. But I had other family members in the house. He was like, "Well, it depends what it is. Let me open it up and see." Once he figured it might be one of the sensors, he pulled it out and started to clean it. He was explaining everything, which was nice too, because I wanted to know exactly what was going on. And then, it actually worked. Basically it was just dirty. He was able to clean it right away, screw it back in together and then it started the heating right away. But he didn't close it up till 10 minutes later. He just wanted to make sure it was running properly. He was efficient and explained everything. AHS was quick, so I appreciate it.

The technician was a very nice young man. He was very knowledgeable and polite. He took care of the drain problem. Since the repair, the washer has been working beautiful and I’m very happy. We’ve done several things with AHS already in the last two and a half years. I always ask the guys who come in and they tell me more or less what it would be if it was not the call from American Home Shield. The savings are quite a bit. You save money when you have them. It looks a lot once a year, but by the time you called the second time, it pays off.
Recently, something was stuck on my unit and it was buzzing intermittently. I tried to submit a claim online and something was not clicking, so I called. It was Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon and the AHS reps were very fast and very good. The contractor was here Tuesday at 8:30 in the morning, which was perfect timing. A little bone was stuck in the unit and he took it out. He was very courteous, fast and on time.

At first, I called American Home Shield to do their spring HVAC check as they were offering a $75 spring check on HVAC. After I schedule that, my furnace has not been running right. I got electric bill for $519 and I work out of town every week. So, the furnace was running the time that I was out of town. It was running in the auxiliary mode which means that it's just cooling off of the electric and not from the furnace. So, I called AHS back and they put in a second work order so that they could not only do what they needed to do with the HVAC outside but also fix the furnace upstairs. They sent out someone as soon as I submitted the claim. I was out of town that Monday through Thursday so they couldn't come until Friday.
The guy who came out found that my furnace had a cutout in the top of it where someone probably before had put a piece of insulation there. It had blown out the piece of insulation so it was only heating the attic. It wasn't heating the rest of my townhouse, which is a two-story townhouse. He patched that and seemed to do a good job. Two days later, I turned on the heat just to make sure it was working okay and it came on. It warmed up the whole place but then I looked at the thermostat and it's still working in the auxiliary mode. So, I've had it off since then. They're coming back on Monday to look at it again. So far, the service has been good.

The icemaker went on the blink. I filed a claim online for its repair to American Home Shield. The process was fairly easy and their response time was good. Usually, when I file a claim, I follow-up with the contractor the next morning. This claim was about the third time my icemaker broke down and in the past, they’ve been able to repair it. This time, they checked it and said it was unrepairable. Now, I'm waiting to go online and choose a replacement.
Still, their contractors were very professional, came in, focused, asked us what’s going on and jumped right on the job. I was really impressed with what they showed us and they had all the data on when they were here before. I was just talking about American Home Shield with a friend of mine at lunch and encouraged her to consider American Home Shield because I really love it. I appreciate it. I like what it does, what American Home Shield stands for, and how things happen. We’ve been here since 2008 and I’m just glad we’ve had American Home Shield for when little things pop up. So, I don’t have to worry about trying to find referrals or somebody that could recommend someone to come out and take care of any issues we have. I’ve really been satisfied with this home warranty.

I submitted a claim online for my washer and it went quickly and was efficient. However, you don’t get to state what the problem is, you just say you have a problem. I feel that there should be somewhere where you can say what problem you’re experiencing. I got an email from American Home Shield telling me what company would be coming out to look at the washer. I emailed that company and told them exactly what was going on. And the turnaround rate was great. I emailed the contractor on a Saturday night and he said that he could come out on Monday. I was at work, but my son was here when the contractor came. He was a nice guy. The washer had been here when I bought the house 18 years ago. He said that given its age and the lack of parts, he would recommend that it be replaced. And I replaced it last week.

The water heater started getting big streaks going down it. So, I called them about the water heater and I said, "Well, seeing the plumber's coming for that, I'll have them check the bathroom and I'll also have them check the kitchen sink for me." However, the contractor said, "Nope. All mine that is saying, it says water heater only and that's all I'm doing." That guy had an attitude. So, American Home Shield had to send somebody else out, and the second guy who came out was excellent. He explained everything about the pressure with the water coming out of the sink and everything, that there was a crimp in the line somewhere, and he told us about the toilet, and he fixed it. I was pleased with him. American Home Shield worked with me to schedule, and the first contractor came out two days after, while the second came a day afterwards.
I have had American Home Shield for the last nine years and I haven't had any problem, aside from that one. Since October, I've also had them out here plenty of times. Just before Thanksgiving, my oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, and dryer went out. So, I've used them and I've been very happy with them. I'm very glad that their warranty to cover all that stuff. I have recommended them to quite a few people.

In fact, I have four houses with them and there had been occasion here and there where we had to have a callback, but it hasn't been to the extent that I hesitated to put more houses on because we have rental properties. Then, when I had to submit a claim, I called American Home Shield. But, the rep who took the claim had a lot of difficulties understanding what I wanted. She finally got it straight though when we saw the ticket with everything that I told her.
A contractor contacted me within 24 hours. However, the initial contractor I had was poor but they had terminated him. He came out and he seemed kinda lethargic. He stayed maybe five minutes and told me that he had to order a part and come back. He also said that he’ll do the other work when he comes back with the part then he left. He claimed that he went back and told AHS it was fixed, but he never did anything. AHS didn't know because he said it was checked off and he never told them he needed to come back. We made the assumption that he was going to come back even though we waited a month.
So, when I called to ask AHS when he was coming back because we told him he was gonna get a party come back and they said he hasn't checked off it’s finished. Then, the second contractor that AHS sent out was excellent. He gave us all the information we need regarding what he was doing. He also told us what we needed to do and that we had 60-day callback, which I thought was always 30. But he said it was the company would extend it to 60 days because of the issue we had initially. Since then, everything works out beautifully.

He also told me to call GE because they would be able to fix it. So, that’s what I did but I still have not been refunded by American Home Shield for the $100.
The last call that I had with them, I said to the fourth person that I’ve spoken to that if I did not get something, I was going to get in touch with the Better Business Bureau or I was gonna put something on Twitter. Their reps are lovely people but they lack customer service and English is not their first language. They were getting a bit stymied when I said someone did come out but that they didn't service it. I discovered my water heater leaking late in the evening of Thursday, March 14th. I contacted AHS and waited for a call from the service provider. I received a phone call from the plumbing contractor on Saturday, March 16th. The service call occurred on Tuesday, March 19th at which time it was determined that I needed a new water heater.
American Home Shield authorized the replacement on Wednesday, March 20th. I was notified to call AHS to authorize additional charges of over $350 which I did that evening. I contacted the plumbing contractor that same evening and was told that AHS was ordering the new hot water heater and that it would be sent to a local plumbing supply. I contacted AHS on Monday, March 25th to inquire about the status of the water heater that they had ordered and was told that it had been ordered and was in route and that the plumbing contractor had been sent shipment tracking information.
When I didn't hear anything from the contractor, I called them on Wednesday, March 27th to ask whether they had received notification about the delivery of the water heater. They informed me that they had received no information about the shipment and had no tracking number. They told me they would contact AHS and get back to me. They called back and said that the water heater had been delivered to a local supply company at which point, I scheduled an appointment for the next slot they had for installation on Saturday, March 30th.
Today, Friday, March 29th, I received a call from the contractor to tell me that when they went to pick the water heater it wasn't there. When I asked what had happened, I was told that it had probably been SOLD. The contractor told me that they called AHS and had arranged for another water heater to be shipped directly to them to avoid any further trouble or delays.
I called AHS and was informed that all the customer service person knew was that a water heater was being shipped and would be available by Wednesday, April 3rd! It will be THREE WEEKS on Thursday, April 4th that the water in my house has been shut off and I don't even have a scheduled date for installation for my new water heater because the contractor will not schedule until the water heater has been delivered to them. This is a ridiculously poor level of service and communication. The contractor claims it is out of their hands and has laid the blame fully on American Home Shield.
Hello, Robert. I apologize for the delays that you are experiencing with your hot water heater replacement. A member of our Social Media team will be in contact with you to address your concerns and to assist with the service request.

I've had a couple of previous experiences wherein I'm not really happy with American Home Shield. I'm fairly new to them and they have been sending out emails and giving me opportunities. One of those emails said I could order in-home filters for my heating and air conditioning. I did that and but then I'm sure I could have done better on Amazon price-wise. Moreover, they ended up sending two filters that I didn't order. They were the same dimensions in terms of length and width but then they were big filters. The only thing I could do was throw them away and it seemed like a waste. They messed up that order. Also, I had to do some research whether or not I paid them. It was a bit aggravating. Still, it was not really bad since it didn't cost me any money.
Another time, they ran another ad which said that I could service my HVAC units for $75. I responded yes and when I signed up, I told them that I have three air conditioning units. I asked if that made a difference in the premium and they said no. So without even thinking and assuming they knew how many units I had, I thought I was gonna get them serviced for $75. When the tech came out, he did one. Long story short, it was $75 per unit. They charged me $100 twice for two service calls, the first one that brought him out and then another when he realized there were two other units, he called AHS and they scheduled another service call with the tech sitting on the driveway. The total cost of what I thought was gonna be a $75 service fee was close to 450 bucks. It was kinda frustrating. Their policy is costing me money and the cost of ownership versus the payoff has been a bit disappointing. Still, our garage door wasn't working recently so we submitted a claim for its repair online to American Home Shield. It was an easy process and not very long after, a contractor came out. His professionalism couldn't have been better and the quality of his work was very good.

I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield for my washing machine. The problem started in January. It was not working properly and it needed to be fixed. They sent someone out in just a few days. However, by the time he came out, the machine was working. He thought it was doing what it was supposed to do. However, it wasn't working properly so he came back in a day or two and he ordered a part. He came back within a reasonable time when the part came, and he put that part on. And then, I set two washes and it was still doing the same thing. I called back and the tech came back within a reasonable time, and he determined something else was wrong. He told me what part he would have to order. After that, they started taking a long time. I haven't heard anything from them for two weeks so I called the contractor to see what was happening.
The lady from the contracting company stated that they were waiting on AHS to approve the order. I said, "Okay." After that, I waited for two more weeks and I’ve never heard anything. So, I just decided to call AHS myself. I spoke to the first line of contact and she said, "I don't see anything on your order form that they’re waiting on an approval or something," She did whatever she was supposed to do, but I was really upset at that time. I've been dealing with AHS for some years now. There have been times when I shouldn’t have gone back to them. But I did just to have a warranty because they were good at doing most things. But when it comes to replacing things, they would fix things till you can't fix it. They could've replaced it five times by the time they finished the fix.
I’ve also dealt with them before where I had to wait for almost a year for a hot water tank. They pieced it back together till they couldn’t piece it anymore. So in talking to the lady from AHS, I said that they should accommodate me with something because it's been too long about the washing machine. She let me talk to someone else. I explained to the next lady what was the going on and she was very accommodating and they ordered the part. She told the technician to see exactly whatever was the problem and she told me she was supposed to defer the $100 although I got to check and see if the tech has an idea. She did provide me with one more service, so that made me happy. At least AHS tried to rectify a mistake that they made. The man finally came out to fix the part and I haven't even used the washing machine since then. I do recommend AHS but I tell people the pros and cons and I tell them about my experience too.

My clothes washer went bad a while back and when American Home Shield sent out a guy, the gentleman did not have a good attitude. He came and looked at my washing machine for a couple of minutes. He then told me that I have been putting in a little bit too much soap in this type of machine, which requires very little. I told him that I put in a full cap of detergent and that it was what I have always done in my machine. He said that when I do that, the soap gets into the bearings and dry them out, and eventually, things go bad. I said that I would pay attention to that from then on. He left. When he made a report, he told AHS that I have been putting in too many clothes into the washer and it ruined the machine.
I waited for a few days and I didn’t hear anything. I called AHS and I was told that I was rejected. I overloaded my machine and they would not be covering that. I told them what he said to me and they said that they were not gonna do it. I told them that the guy didn't even look at the machine. So, I demanded that a second person come out. AHS made a big deal and I had to go through supervisors until I finally got one who said that they will provide me with a second opinion but I would also have to pay the $75. I was happy to pay that because I have trouble figuring out which the problem was. I called two other clothes washer people and asked if there was a way for them to determine whether or not I put too much clothes, which I didn't. At that time, I was single and so, I didn’t. Both guys said there was no way to tell that.
AHS finally had another guy come out and he determined that the machine was a little over seven years old and the part that attaches to the drum on the inside is like a flywheel and it spins. It wore out and it’s normal wear and tear. When the guy sent in his report, they immediately ordered new parts. However, it cost me $75. I don't want him to ever to come to my house again.
A few months later, my dishwasher caused a $60,000 damage in my house. I had to have a technician through AHS come out and take a look at what was going on. Right after the guy got here, I walked in. He asked me if I had any water come out. I said no but I got mold on the side of the dishwasher, so there must be something leaking. We needed to figure out what was going on that caused that and how bad it was, so I can determine if I'm gonna pay for it myself, or have my insurance company pay for it. So, he unscrewed a few screws, leaned in and said that he couldn’t work on it because there was too much mold back there, which I could accept. As he was doing that, I realized this was the same guy. He did his little evaluation and said there was too much mold.
I called AHS again and told them that I asked them not to ever send this gentleman and his company back to my house again. The rep said that they don’t look at anything. I asked him if there was no way to manage whether or not they would order the technician back, out of all the people in my area. They said they would make another note of it and hopefully, they would pay attention. They eventually sent me out another guy, as soon as we got to the point where the mold was gone, and we got the problem solved. I never should have had to pay the $75. The technician was not very competent and he was asking me how I could afford my house and things of that nature.
When they finally did the dishwasher, they charged me twice but they reimbursed it. There was a problem with the collection of the money. I always authorize the $75 once the job is done. If the guy doesn't show, I don't owe them. The other day, I got an email saying that AHS was processing the $75. That was the day before the guy was due to be here. I called and asked why they were doing that. They said that the email just went out but they didn’t go ahead. I checked my bank and they have not done it.
Recently, when we connected the door, the door started running again. So, there was a glitch. I disconnected it so that I can manually pull it and I couldn't figure out how to put it back together. The technician from Active Garage Door came out, connected the door back to the motor and as soon as we did that, it ran and it’s still running. He went over a few things and he did his job. So, I’m very satisfied with what he did. I may have had some problems but I'm still with AHS. All I want is somebody to reasonably cover my stuff and be able to do it smoothly. So, hopefully, that means something to them down the road because I always pay on time. There's never an issue about the money. I pay both the regular fee and the $75, whatever is due. I want them to treat me like they want me to treat them. With AHS, the work gets done and when we get down to the nitty gritty, they have skilled people.

I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield to repair my range and they were very responsive. SRL Services came and the techs were professional. They analyzed the situation well, ordered the parts and got everything taken care of. They told me to schedule when they can come back out to complete the process. I'd recommend AHS.

American Home Shield got somebody out very quickly to fix my dishwasher. The contractor was very professional. He had to order the parts, but did not get back to me in a timely manner. I had to call American Home Shield and they mitigated the problem by directly calling the tech, and then he called me immediately to set up an appointment to have the dishwasher fixed. He fixed the dishwasher within that day, so it was fine.

The washing machine was not draining nor spinning properly. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and the website was easy to navigate. I was always given a time estimate on when the contractors were gonna be there and they were normally on time. They replaced the drain pump on the washing machine. They also had to replace a spring that was holding things together. Since they came out, the washing machine has been operating fine. My experience with AHS was outstanding and I’ve been very happy with them. They are the easiest home warranty company to work with and that I’ve ever been involved with. They’re always professional, friendly and quick to respond. I would recommend AHS.

My central air-conditioning decided not to work so well, so I submitted a claim on it to American Home Shield over the phone. If we do it online, you can’t tell them what contractor you want. Some of the contractors they have sent have been dogs. When my heater went out, one guy came out. The thing worked when he left. But when the next guy came out, he went, "This isn't even to code." So, he had to repair his work. I then went online and said, "Specifically, need these guys to come because they actually know what they're doing." What I like about this company is that they come out and fix it, they don’t just come out and talk you to death. Now, everything works perfectly. They did a good job. American Home Shield is a good outfit. You have to do your end too as I did in my end. When that happens, it just works like clockwork. Overall, I'd recommend them.

I've had American Home Shield for a long time and they're great. Recently, they sent out techs from Fidelity Appliances for a refrigerator repair. The techs did exactly what they were supposed to do and did a good job.

I called American Home Shield for my refrigerator and inquired about it because that had been repaired before but it was out of the repair for the recall. So I went back and I did a claim online. And the contractor came out after a couple of days. It wasn't long. The contractor did what he did and he left. And I called back that instant because it still wasn't fix, and they sent somebody back out the next day, and it's fine right now.
The only thing is, with all brands of appliances, every time the company that AHS sends comes out, they never complete the job. We always have problems. One contractor left water all over my floor and left nothing like a receipt. I gave him a feedback. Also, in the beginning, the customer service with American Home Shield was horrible. Still, I'll recommend them.

I placed a service call with American Home Shield for my heater as it wasn't working properly, and a guy was sent out. He was professional and he knew right away what the problem was. He climbed up to the attic, and then checked my heater unit and fixed it. The technicians that American Home Shield has sent have always been professional. Also, American Home Shield has always been so responsive. I'm pleased with the service. I submit my claims to them online, and being tech savvy, I find their site easy to navigate.
The only thing is when I placed a service call for my pool, the guy who came out told me that it was a maintenance thing and I needed to replace the filter of my pool pump, which is not covered. That could have been communicated to me prior. And then, for a couple of weeks now, I've been waiting on my reimbursement. I bought a washer-dryer, and they said they were gonna send me a check for my washer. But overall, I've always been satisfied with the service that American Home Shield provided.

We had a leak from our water heater. It started coming out of the top of the water heater, and the guy from Mr. Rooter fixed it. I submit claims online and I love the process. American Home Shield called me within 30 minutes to schedule, and then the contractor came out the next day. He did wonderfully. It was a small repair where he had to repair some pipes. I even submitted a review online. I have had American Home Shield for four years with our previous home, and I am very, very pleased.

I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for my dishwasher. The process was easy and a contractor was able to come out quickly. The techs did a really good job. There was a mistake in the repair as they put the buttons in the wrong place. As a result, we couldn't run the dishwasher. They came back quickly to fix it.
Joanna,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We moved into an apartment last June, and our real estate agent gave us the American Home Shield warranty as a gift. I've had one call to them, and I'm very satisfied with it. I tried to submit the claim online, but it didn't work. I explained what was wrong, and it was translated. It was for the winter cleaning the furnace. I called and wanted to have that, and they put it in as a repair request. But when I called and spoke to their reps, their customer service was very good. They were efficient and got it done. The technician that came out did great. We had a toilet that wouldn't flush and he found the source of the clog. He was very good and went that extra mile after he fixed it to make sure it was really fixed. I was very pleased with the vendors that AHS used and the plumber that came out.

The toilet was stopped up. I submitted a claim for its repair over the phone and the reps were fine. However, when I called about my microwave, I didn't like the way the rep spoke to me. Though in the end, she was nice, she was yelling. I almost hung up on her both times. Thereafter, their contractor came and unstopped the toilet. Additionally, my faucet was running slow and he found that problem. There was something caught up on the side where the hot water is, which kept the hot water from going out fast. He took care of that as well.
However, I'm thinking about canceling American Home Shield. I've had them for six years but the payments have just gotten extremely high. I started out paying $40 and now, it's almost 100. And I can choose another company that charges me 40. Also, I didn't know that there were certain parts of my garage door that were not covered and I had to come out of pocket with $182 for the part when it broke down. I had to pay $82 for the service and pay the $75 for the monthly payment. I was out $400 this month. Nevertheless, American Home Shield has been good about replacing stuff.

I typically submit claims online as it's usually the easiest. The garbage disposal wouldn't run recently and we figured out that it was from the original building of the home, so the motor had burned out. The tech sent by American Home Shield showed up, figured out the problem quick and fixed it. Everything went fine. We had an issue in the last year though that was a lot more complicated than we originally realized. It was a plumbing issue outside of the home and we had two or three guys come out, and some were stumped by the problem. We eventually got it sorted and that situation is over.

We submit claims online with American Home Shield since trying to get ahold of somebody on the phone just puts me off, then I had a hard time understanding the people who answered the phone. I haven’t called AHS since last year because I found out that I could do it online easier. Recently, every time we plug the refrigerator in, it blows the fuse. So, we a submitted a claim for that and the contractor's response time was excellent and he was able to fix the problem. He put a new fuse and everything has been working fine since the repair.

Our garbage disposal had a crack and my wife submitted a request to AHS. The response time was decent. It wasn’t immediate, but it was reasonable. My wife said the tech brought an assistant and identified what the problem was. They then called AHS to get approval, got the job done and the disposal has been good since. We also had a check-up today for the air conditioning and heating unit, and that went well.

My shower wouldn't turn off and I made an online claim for it on a Monday, and Blue Star Plumbing was here on Wednesday. I've used them before and I really like them. They were timely, and they had to run out and get another part from another truck they had. It seemed like they were trying hard, and they seemed like they were professionals. They were in and out in a couple of minutes. They also showed me the before and after of the part that they changed out, which I thought was interesting. I have buddies that just bought a house and I told them they should get American Home Shield.

American Home Shield sent the plumber out when we thought the toilet was leaking. The plumber checked everything, and he said it was fine. There were no issues. The leak was from a different place that he was able to seal and it had nothing to do with the toilet. Everything was fine. The contractor was out here when they said they would be out here, which was quick. The contractor was excellent. They followed up and called back. They were professional. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. I had them at a different house for 15 years, and I sold the house and we canceled the policy. When I bought a new house, I started a new policy with American Home Shield. I've only had one issue with them and it was taken care of.

I submitted my recent claim with American Home Shield over the phone and I told the girl exactly what was wrong with the ceiling fan. One of my ceiling fans was making a chicken sound that would drive you out of your mind. I was leery of it because it was shaking and I didn’t know if it was the plastic up in the top, where it connects to the ceiling. When I talk to AHS, I give them complete information on what the product and the situation is. I told the rep that the ceiling fan was old and that it ticks and ticks. It sounds like the motor was going and it has gotten worse.
A contractor came to fix it and he said that it has a breaker. He was in and out in five to 10 minutes. He told me that he was gonna put a report in and that he wasn’t the final say on it. But he didn’t even check to see if the thing up on the top is broken. If the girl said to me that the motor had to be completely out, I would have said to forget about it and I wouldn’t have had to pay the $125. I’m not trying to get a free fan, I’m just concerned. I wouldn’t have bothered to pay the money if I wasn’t concerned. But the contractor came out and gave me a song and a dance, and I didn’t appreciate that.
Moreover, one of the lights was hanging off on the other fan. I was worried it would get a short. I told the contractor to see what he could do there and maybe change the lights on the bottom. He said he was gonna look into it, but I never heard anything. The last time AHS sent a contractor out, he took the ceiling fan's base down and replaced it. He said it was cracked and I told him that I didn't want it going down on me. Then he changed the one that was completely dead. He was very good. So far, AHS has rectified everything that I have had a problem with.

I put a home warranty on every home I’ve had. So when we bought a beach condo, I asked neighbors of good plumbers and then I found out who they used and they really recommended American Home Shield. They said that they were able to get the job through without any problems. They said it's about the only one that they want to deal with anymore.
Recently, our 14-year-old water heater stopped heating. I called American Home Shield and they said that they would contact AA Express and that I would be receiving a call. They sent me an email within the hour and AA Express called me that day and scheduled a time to go out. They went out the next day and the gentleman said, "We can't do anything with this. It's just too old." A replacement was approved that same day and I told them that it could be done the following Friday. They said, "Fine." Scheduled it for me and came in. The gentleman was wonderful, very nice, professional, cleaned up everything and that was it, I had a new water heater. I've never had a bad experience with home warranties, but this one was the quickest and easiest company I've dealt with. I will always recommend them.
