We purchased a policy from this company early this year. We had a refrigerator problem May 20. Now July 29 still no refrigerator. Part was not available so they were to replace the refrigerator. Over 30 hours of documented phone time with this company you are spun off to a entering service in the Philippines that all they say is, "I’m sorry. I’m sorry. We understand. We understand," and do nothing to resolve your issues. They will switch you to the appliance department which never answers the phone. You can be on hold up to five hours and still no answer. Company is totally a joke. Buyers beware. Don’t believe me look them up on Facebook and look at all the unhappy customers there. Basically they take your money and run. Scam.

In the heat of the summer we waited over a week to get a repair estimator. Then over a week to get approval for the part. We are still waiting from AHS to determine if they will actually cover the part needed. Not sure how long they will take to order or if they will. Several calls unanswered in their one hour + phone rotary, but nice music. Cannot email or contact anyone in the "contact" section online. Communication is poor. Cannot find a complaint procedure. Did receive an unidentified call from a Real Estate company leaving a message as AHS rep. Could not contact him. Very frustrating.

I've had three claims so far with American Home Shield. I had a wonderful leaking dishwasher, which wasn't caught by the inspection. The contractors that came were really great. They set up an appointment quickly, arrived quickly and figured out the problem. When they installed the dishwasher, they didn't screw it all the way, and the dishwasher will actually start even if the door was not closed. But he fixed it for me, my dishwasher isn't leaking anymore, so I just love that.
I had somebody come and fix the air conditioner. I was really worried that that was gonna be a whole huge thing, it ended up just being a recharge. I had water leaking into the ducts. That wasn't caught by the inspector either. The contractors found the problem for that and they fixed that. They had to clean up some of the tubes, and then they helped me figure out what was going on with the air filter. They were very nice and very prompt.
Then the last one was the microwave. Another thing that the inspector didn't catch. When you shut the door on the microwave, it would just go. Sometimes, it would just do it by itself over the night and I would come down in the morning and it would just be on. The contractors came and immediately they were like, "You need a new door." They told me about how long it was gonna take. Their estimate was accurate when they came to replace the door. It was great.
I've had this warranty one other time and it was the worst experience of my life. I hated it so much. AHS was recommended by my real estate agent. I love that AHS is just like you go online, here's the thing. There are no 1,000 questions about it. I just pay $100 for the fee for them to come out and figure out what's going on. It's a lot quicker than I thought it was gonna be, so I'm happy with it.

DrainGo replaced my water heater that was leaking. They did a very professional job. They came in one day, assessed it, and got approval, and then installed it the next day, which was wonderful. It's been running great. Submitting the claim with AHS was pretty easy. But on couple occasions, it took a long time for them to respond or to approve the work that needed to get done. When I lost my main water line coming in two days before Thanksgiving, it took almost two weeks for them to respond. So a faster approval process would be great. But overall, I'm very happy with them.

I had a leak from the dishwasher under one of my cupboards. The technician came out and took care of the problem. It was great. I was pleased with them and I’m very happy. It's been years that I’ve had American Home Shield and there is no difficulty at all with the claims process. I call, someone answers the phone and I give them my problem. Within a few hours, someone calls me to set up an appointment. I've never had a bad experience.

I put in a claim with Home Shield because my AC stopped running. I called and everything was good. But I called back because I did not get the contact information of the service provider. It was really hot that day so I wanted to make sure to get ahold of the provider to see when they were coming out. But I checked my email after speaking to their rep and I saw that the initial CSR did send me an email with the information. Also, the provider was dispatched pretty fast. Air Pro came in the next day, really early in the morning, and the tech knew exactly what the issue was as soon as he looked into the unit. Also, he uncovered something else that was wrong. I haven't had any issues since he came out. I've always had a great experience with Home Shield. Any time I call, I always get ahold of somebody real quick and they usually provide all of the information that I need. I am very satisfied with the service.

We watched the commercial of AHS and it seemed like it fits us. However, it takes a little time to get in contact with AHS, maybe because of the COVID-19. But once we get in contact with them, it takes no time at all for them to send us some help. We’re very satisfied with them. Our recent claim experience with them went excellent. The O-ring in the bottom of the toilet had a dent in it and the water was escaping to the bottom of the bowl. The guy who came out was professional. He did what he had to do and he left. He was PPE-ready and everything went nice.

We had concerns about having breakdowns of our systems and not being able to afford the repair when it happened so we signed up with American Home Shield in 2005. I sent maintenance requests when we had water that was dripping down into our air conditioning unit and heater unit. It was running down through my filter and throughout the bottom of the air conditioner. I went online and contacted American Home Shield when I made the request. I've used their website several times and it's pretty self-explanatory and pretty easy to use.
The website said that Absolute Comfort would contact me within 24 hours. They actually came out the next day to work on my unit. That contractor has been out several times through American Home Shield and they've been really good every time they came out. The problem this time was with a plugged line and they fixed it. They put in a larger line so we wouldn't have any problems in the future with it. That repair helped a lot. My air conditioner was working but I was really afraid that my unit would get damaged or destroyed.

The dishwasher wasn't getting anything clean. I initially contacted American Home Shield on the 17th of July and they came on the 30th. I was told that the reason that they took such a long time getting back to me and getting out to fix me was because of the COVID business. Other than that, initiating the claim seems to be pretty straightforward and easy. The technician stated that the dishwasher was clogged up with hard water deposits and gave me a remedy, which seemed to be working. Also, the ice maker was leaking and freezing big globs and he needed to order a part for it. I haven't heard back from them and I'm still waiting for the part to be installed.

I have friends that have American Home Shield and being by myself with the house, I thought it'd be a good idea to have a little bit of extra coverage. One time, I did a service request online and the website was easy. I got an almost immediate notification that I would receive more contact from them within 24 hours and it was exactly as it was supposed to be. Air Boss Mechanical came out twice for my air conditioner that wasn't cooling and they've gone over and above both times they've been out to my house. The same guy was sent out twice for the same issue and the last time he came out, he checked everything and said there was nothing he could do. He did a few little tweaks, but he told me that he would contact American Home Shield and let them know that it was an electrical problem.
He didn't though, but I contacted American Home Shield a couple of weeks later when the problem persisted and told them that he told me what I needed to do. They switched it over to an electrical issue and I have had two electricians who came. The first one that was assigned was an absolute mess. I called American Home Shield and told them I didn't want that company back in my house. They set me up with another company that contacted me and came as scheduled and I haven't had any other problem since the repairs.

The first technician who came out for the AC was in a hurry and didn't want to go up to check. He was just checking outside. I knew that there was a problem with the AC but he just said that everything including the pressure was fine because there was cooling during that moment. So the problem wasn't fixed on the first visit. The AC had been freezing since the first call I made. Normally, when your AC freezes, you're able to defrost it and it buys you a little bit of time. But the AC kept doing that for the whole month. I had called because that weekend, it concerned me that it had been doing that quite often. I was told that I had a warranty with them and they would come back out.
The older gentleman from Hector's explained that the fan was no longer working. So he changed the fan relay and put a new one in. He was very professional. He explained everything thoroughly. But for some reason, something with the fan was not fixed. I noticed it was getting really humid the following morning and that evening because we had just heard a hurricane. The house was extremely warm. I went ahead and quickly sent them that message that the job wasn’t completed yet. Then the guy came back out and replaced the keypad. He was very prompt and I really appreciated it. So everything went well after the second visit. I haven't had American Home Shield for long but my family recommends them. Circumstances are different right now. But American Home Shield has been prompt with trying to communicate directly to the service companies, so I really appreciate that, especially during this time.

The AC fan stopped spinning on the outside, so it wasn't blowing any cold air. The guy didn't fix it the same day because it just kept happening two more times after that. I thought it was fixed but the same thing happened again the next day after he replaced something. He came back and had to order a part. Unfortunately, the same thing is happening still. I need to make another claim. But I was surprised to get my deductible back so that's good with me.

Our AC wasn't cooling. The system was running, and if the temperatures were low, the AC would work and it would cool the house. If the temperatures got high, it would not cool. I did a claim to American Home Shield, and a technician came out in about four to five days. It was during a time when it was extremely hot. So, they probably were busy.
The tech was able to do the repair the same day. He was very knowledgeable. He explained what the situation was and gave us a couple of solutions, and we opted for one, and that was fine. We have an old system, so they talked about upgrading but he offered us a solution for the system that we have. So, that worked out for us. They came back and followed up like three times to assure that it was still operating and to see if anything else had developed. It's freezing in here. Everything is beautiful.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Two years ago, I had American Home Shield for almost a year. I put my house in the market last year and I didn't want to have that insurance. But I wasn't able to sell it so I joined American Home Shield again in January of this year. But I'm very dissatisfied. Every time I call them for information on my claim, I had to wait 90 minutes to 2 hours on the phone. But when they want you to enroll with them, they are on the phone instantly.
I had a claim where they sent out Comfort Pros. The technicians were very professional. They did the analysis and submitted their report to American Home Shield. I don't know what the deal is between Comfort Pros and American Home Shield. But when they submitted their report, my out of pocket cost was coming out to $3,000. American Home Shield gave me a cashout amount of about close to $1600. The $3,000 that I had to pay was supposedly not covered. I was not told this upfront.
This was a 30-year-old unit so I ended up replacing the whole HVAC system out of my pocket. I accepted the cashout amount and I sent American Home Shield an email yesterday after the work was done with the invoice. They said it's going to take about 21 days for me to get the check for $1600. This is totally unacceptable. The consumer has to pay $3,000 and they pay $1600. How can you build a 30-year-old unit which has completely gone? I have the pictures of the unit as well. I was not happy at all.
We do apologize for the inconvenience pertaining to the a/c. We will be more than happy to assist in a positive resolution to make sure this is taken care of. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

The person that American Home Shield sent out was good and polite. He fixed the issue right away. The AC was dripping water and the technician said that it might have frozen. He wasn't quite sure, but he cleaned out the lines and it seems to be working. He did it all at the same time.

Caltech Appliances came out for two appliances. They were professional and explained everything to me that was going on with the appliance and it was a good experience both times. They always wore masks. I had a lot of trouble with my second claim, the ice maker. I submitted it, they came out, no problems, and they did some repairs and still, it wasn't working so I resubmitted it, they came back out, and then once they said they couldn't fix it, AHS assigned it to somebody else, and then I had nothing but problems from then on. I probably spent over 10 hours on the phone on hold trying to get through. They'll send in somebody else out this week.
The other issue I had is that two times now I’ve called with water leaks that were emergencies and it still took four days to get somebody here. AHS has a policy where they can escalate it to an emergency situation. But if they can't find somebody, then I have to find somebody and submit that person to them. By the time that’s resolved, it's either your house is ruined or it's so bad, you're just gonna wait for a regular repair person anyway. That definitely needs to be improved as well.

The contractor came out within a couple of days once I filed the claim and they did a great job. They fixed our dryer and now it's working fine. So far, everything's been great with American Home Shield. Every time we've had a claim or a problem with a home appliance, they've always handled it. We haven't had any problems that haven't been addressed, so it's been great. We bought the house five years ago and we don't know how old are the appliances that are already here. American Home Shield helped us in having good working appliances.

My Realtor had recommended AHS. I like it. You just submit a claim and the work is done in a timely manner. Our recent claim with AHS went pretty well. I had some issues with some clogging in the sinks and the contractors came out and have it fixed pretty quickly. This is my second claim with AHS. My first claim with them was for some AC work. The contractors came out the next day and they did a temporary fix for something while I had to get a part ordered. Then the part was ordered the day after, and the whole thing was fixed within two days. The contractors were good too.

The guy from Prime Plumbing Services tightened the bolts on the toilet and it broke, and so he replaced it, which is awesome. It only cost me the $75. So it was a good experience with them. It was super easy to book people through American Home Shield. I've had a couple of other things, and half the time, they come out and you're charged the $75, and then they can't do anything. My icemaker wasn't working, so I had an ice guy come out and paid $75 for him to say, "Well, there's not a water line to the refrigerator." Even though we did like a FaceTime and I showed them the refrigerator and they never once said, "Oh, check the back of the refrigerator, see if there's a water line."
Then, I had an electrician come out yesterday and there were some wires loose, so power in half my house wasn't working. They found the problem, but the power is still not working and it's another $400 to fix it. Odd enough, I feel like, "Okay, is this even worth it?" Because the only good thing that came out of the seven calls I've had with different people come out is that I got a new toilet and there was a leak under my sink and they tightened something, and then it was stopped.
It would be good if American Home Shield will do like over the phone consultations or like really finding out what the problem is before sending somebody out. I paid $75 for a guy to come out here and tell me there's not a water line, and then I paid another $75 for a plumber to come out to put in the water line. Luckily, I had someone here who was able to hook it up to my fridge. But if I didn't have that person, then I would've called again a refrigerator person and paid another $75 to have them put the water line in. I felt like if they had done like an over the phone consultation or further did the FaceTime being like they were doing, it would have been easier to figure out, "Okay, there's not a waterline there. We need to send a plumber, not a refrigerator guy who can't do anything." Then I got new appliances, but they said they wouldn't install the appliance unless they removed it and then reinstalled it.
I've learned how to install a dishwasher but I would've thought that if something broke with the dishwasher, they would come fix it. So why can't they install it? It just wasn't very clear. It's been nice to have the toilet and everything fixed, but half the time, they come out and they can't do anything and there was a $75 fee. Also, with my air conditioner, I had someone come out and pay $75 for him to tell me what was wrong, but he didn't actually fix anything because he didn't have time to do that. So I paid the $75 and he said, "Oh, it's gonna cost another grand to fix it because American Home Shield doesn't cover that."

I just had a couple of problems. One of them was fixed, and the other one wasn't. I wasn't very happy on the second one because the reason the technician gave me did not make any sense. I had a ceiling fan that wasn't working. He said he couldn't fix it because it was missing an additional remote control. I said, "No. I only had that control. I only had one control when I bought it.” It was his word against mine. I had to pay the $100, and he didn't fix anything. I'm not too happy about that. The technicians need to be more knowledgeable about fixing the problems. I understand that when I bought the warranty, Home Shield claimed if something can't be fixed, they can replace the item. This guy did not offer to do that. In addition, it's a long wait for Home Shield to pick up the phone. That's another improvement needed right there.

In general, American Home Shield's service is relatively quick. This last time I sent a request, it was eight o'clock in the evening and they contacted me first thing in the morning and the contractor showed up the same day. It did. Eventually, we changed the filter. It went away for about a week, and then started leaking again. We’ve been using the AC almost every day for about four weeks. As soon as they were here, he replaced the part, lickety-split, and it's all good. The only drawback is that I had mentioned when I submitted the claim that one of the burners wasn't working and I put on the model number so they might have had the part as opposed to waiting. I wanted the exact same faucet that I had before and I wasn't sure that the plumber would have that so I bought it myself and I talked to somebody at American Home Shield, who said they would credit me back something for what I had spent on the faucet.
I was surprised that the rep was a little confrontational at first when I asked for some sort of a rebate for the amount I had spent on the faucet because originally, she said they wouldn't do that. Then I pushed and she said if they could get documentation from the plumber that I supplied the faucet, so I called J&L Plumbing and they said they sent the documentation. So, as far as that process, that process was fine, and I did get the initial phone call. I had two different companies come out for that claim. I had Budget Heating and Air first, and then I had State afterward. But neither of them resolved the problem.
State was a second opinion because the first one, we waited a couple of weeks and never heard anything from anyone. AHS never called. Budget HVAC never called back so I complained, and when I complained, that was when AHS sent the other company out, State. The guy from State was kind and he seemed to be professional, but the follow-through will really show how professional people are. I've had American Home Shield for years. Submitting claims has been easy, but I had one incident with American Home Shield where I called one day for a service request. The young lady that was on the phone when I put in my service request asked me if I wanted to use the card on file. I said no since that was my debit card and it was my payday that day. I didn't want them to use that card and I gave her my Mastercard number to use instead. Evidently, she didn't put it through my bank. She went and used the card that was on file and Bank of America is such an awful place. They put it directly through my account because there wasn’t enough money in there to cover the $75 charge.
I went back and forth with American Home Shield as well as with the bank in regards to this. That $75 that the bank charged me for, plus the insufficient fund of $35 was never replaced to me. That was money that I lost. The bank asked me to have AHS send a letter, a proof of what happened, and I kept calling American Home Shield asking them that, but they never did. I thought to get rid of them then at that time, but my husband said we've had them for over 20 years. We went ahead and kept them. I called them back and they would send me a little something, but I don't know what it was. Other than that, everything been okay with them.
One time, I requested service for my icemaker on my refrigerator, and they sent Airboss out. The technician came, and he checked my water flow. He said it was perfect, so he looked at the ice machine, and he said the plastic piece in there that they put in the refrigerators now was not gonna last for more than six years. That was broken apart, so he told me that he was gonna have to order the part, and that he would be back in a week to install it. That's what it is and we are glad that he came and installed the piece in my refrigerator. The icemaker has been fine too. It’s making ice now.
However, their quote or advertisement says if they can't repair something, they would replace it and they need to do that. We had some trouble with our air condition several times, and they've sent different people out to patch it up. This one guy told us that the air condition needed to be replaced but American Home Shield would never replace that air condition. They sent another company out there and whatever they did to patch it up, it’s still working.

They stayed in touch with me the whole way. They told me it had been ordered, showed me which one, sent me a picture and then they got back in touch with me to tell me when it was in. They then came right out and installed it. It was one guy and he had to go to the kitchen to work, but he had on a mask due to the COVID. He did everything he could do.
This was super easy this time making the claim. I didn't even phone it in. I did it over the phone but electronically. I appreciated that because I hate either someone who can't understand me or be on hold forever. I didn't have either one of those, so it was a very good experience. Also, we've had American Home Shield on our houses for a long time. We've gone back and forth with them and one other company.

The microwave which is built in with the oven, wasn’t working. Then the agitator of the washing machine wasn’t turning and it wasn't washing. I submitted a claim with AHS and the first guy that came out said that he had fixed them both. But the microwave wasn't working and when I went to wash, the washing machine was doing the same thing it had been doing. So, I called AHS back and they sent somebody else out. This time, the tech fixed the problem with the microwave. Then he had to order some parts, so we had to wait on the parts to get there. It was a long thing. Then one guy came with half the parts, so then he had to go back and somebody else had to come the next day to fix the washer. But the guy who came and actually fixed the problems was very professional.

I had a leak through the plaster in my basement's ceiling which damaged it. Lockhart Plumbing & Remodeling was sent by Home Shield to handle the issue. The techs came and they had gloves and masks on. They had to cut out the opening to find the leak and then replace all of the things that were leaking. They found that there was a connection pipe that had a crack in it. It took them a couple of hours to fix things. I've gotten good service so far with AHS. They’re quick to respond.

The turnaround time for my AC claim with Home Shield was real fast. I called in and the rep I spoke with was nice. Then, AC Wizard came out. The tech checked everything and he explained to me that everything was working fine. He checked up in the attic and he checked the furnace. He couldn't figure out where I was smelling a fume and he said it might have been something outside that was coming in. Other than that, everything went fine. He had his mask, he put his slippers on his shoe, and he had gloves.

We thought we had a water leak. Home Shield sent Morton and Brown Plumbing out and the tech took a look around and crawled up underneath our house and serviced our AC unit. That was causing the problem. They did a really good job. I had to bring the AC back out to get them to fix it, then they charged us. But other than that, it was all right. Home Shield should not keep charging for the same problem. The people they sent out can figure it out to begin with. I tried getting through to customer service and I would start out with a half-hour, then it would be an hour and a half wait.

The tech from Express Comfort came out and went straight to our AC. He went in there like it was a toy and came back out and told me to change my filter. He showed me how to change the filter and he was gone. It seemed like it had been faster than I thought it would. I've always had a home warranty and I will never go without one. I’m a Realtor by trade and I tell everybody, “Get you a home warranty.” With American Home Shield, I just make a phone call, pay my $75, and the contractors come out. Any company that came out has been more than gracious. They always do a little extra to help me understand what I need to understand.
One thing, and I think this is maybe across the board for all home warranties, is if you have multiple things to adjust the price to where you're not paying $75 for everything. Once one thing breaks down, it seems like everything breaks down back to back. I did the air conditioner and after that my disposal stopped working. Then even now, I have two appliances that are kind of not working. Because I paid the back to back $75, I still have to pay that fee to get somebody to come out. If only they could combine together or somehow, discounting it when it's multiple things. That would be cool. But it is what it is.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I noticed that the AC wasn't cooling. I went online, plus I called Home Shield. The website is fine. They then informed me that someone would call me in 24 hours. However, they were not honest. The issue was not the issue. They gave Home Shield one thing, but they gave me something else. They ran the price up and it costed me much more out of pocket than anything else. I had to hire someone else to fix it. I understand it's COVID and that's why I had to back off. What my experience has been prior to COVID was great. But during the COVID timeframe, there was lack of communication. You couldn't get in touch with anybody. Also, the authorization group at this present time was not user-friendly and the people are not friendly. They are there but you're not allowed as a customer to communicate with them.

There was water leaking from the air conditioning. I did a claim online and the AHS site was fine. It was user-friendly and easy enough to do. I called them the next morning because they sent a text telling me who the service company was gonna be. I was really pleased because the service company came quickly. The issue happened on a Sunday evening and the guy was here early morning on Monday or Tuesday. But the gentleman showed up with no credentials. When I answered the door, I was like, "Okay. I don't see your badge." He was not wearing anything to say if he was with a company. He said all he had was his my truck and it had the name of the company there.
Aside from being in plain clothes, I asked him where his mask was. I answered the door with the mask on because unless you've been under a rock sleeping or dead, you know what's going on right now. He said he left his mask at home. I said, "Wait right here. I'll get you one. 'Cause you're not gonna enter my home without a mask." Other than that, he was professional and it took him about five minutes to complete the work.

The washing machine was effectively dead and it started the night that we took possession of the house after we signed the mortgage. It was throwing an error 90 something and it would just constantly beep. I looked it up online for that make and model, and the error that it was throwing said that the only option was to replace the main computer board. I submitted a claim with AHS and a tech from JC Appliance Repair came out.
He evaluated the same thing and looked at the secondary board to make sure that it was good. He concluded that he needed to have the main brains of the machine replaced and he ordered it. We have a family of nine here and we were spending $40 a week in the 10 days that we were waiting on the part. We also spent $65 on laundromat fees and washing machine essentials, so that repair was essential. But when he got it in, he put it in and now it’s perfect. The tech very good at his job. He was competent and knowledgeable. He also double checked everything so that he could to make sure that number one, this was gonna work and number two, that he wasn't going overboard with it.

American Home Shield's claim process is easy. However, their service providers claim that they don't fix certain things. They don't seem excited about getting the job done. I had their plumbing service come out when my tub handle was broken and I requested that to be fixed. The tech then said that he doesn't do that. I went ahead and got the parts from the manufacturer, but that's supposed to be the contractor's issue to get it.
AHS sent another company and the tech from there fixed my issue in less than five minutes. So I'm not sure if the different companies have different ways of interpreting the contract regarding what they fix or what they don't fix. I'm expecting that when I do a claim, it's fixed right away. The contractors should leave the details regarding what they do and don't do with American Home Shield so that AHS can discuss that before the contractor comes out.
Recently, their contractor Airboss Mechanical handled an issue I had very well. There was a problem with the pipe that goes to the back of the house from the AC through which it drains the water. Airboss advised me that they're not supposed to be the one to take care of that. I got that done and they fixed the AC itself. Overall, scheduling service is fast through AHS.

The second thing that was good was he was very professional and friendly. You can tell that he liked doing what he likes to do. He loves his job and it came off with his friendliness and being kind. He was real helpful too.
I feel pretty good about American Home Shield. When the AC had first broken down, I went ahead and called American Home Shield. It was my first time filing the claim so I was a little apprehensive about it. I wasn't sure if it was gonna work out for me. But once I called, they told me everything was gonna be okay. Those nerves went away tremendously ‘cause they made me feel very comfortable about calling. They told me, “That’s what a home warranty is for so don’t be afraid to call. Don't be apprehensive.” I was much pleased with it.

My friend had American Home Shield for her condo and 'cause she'd had good customer service with them, she suggested it to me. They've been able to fix my AC and they were able to take care of getting my water heater repaired. Initially, I was getting no water and then there was a ring of water on the bottom by the water heater itself. I used the web service for my claim and it was easy to navigate. They gave me a notification when the contractor would come out and then I called Loyalty Home Services. They were able to come out rather quickly to check my water heater out (it was two days) and they ended up being the vendor that replaced it. They explained everything, including how they would do it and how they would replace it.
They also explained the whole process of how they report to American Home Shield, what was covered as well as what was not gonna be covered. They walked me through everything and they were really good about it. They were able to put in the order to get the new water heater and they thought it was gonna be a week and a half, but it was faster than assumed. They were able to get it over the weekend. Now, I have hot water again and that's very nice to have to shower. I can use my dishwasher again and I can do laundry too. It's very helpful. All in all, American Home Shield has been good. It's very convenient and they were very helpful and knowledgeable about everything. It saved me a lot of money as well. I'm very happy with them.

MS Services changed out an little electrical panel that was not working in the heater. They had to order the panel. That took about two to three weeks so we didn't have heating. And then when it got fixed, it was super fast. The contractor was in and out. The heater worked for about two weeks, and then it stopped shooting hot air. Home Shield sent the same company out to fix it. I still had to pay the 125 again to Home Shield to be able to get it fixed and it was just a small little piece of plastic. That was what the tech said was old and needed to be switched out. But it was smaller than when you pop open a soda through at top.
Submitting claims is long waits on the phone. I almost wanted to just not even have it. I tried to give Home Shield another chance but it's a long process. Even when you go online. Also, you gotta press all these, “Press this, press that, is this your address?” Sometimes, even the machine doesn't pronounce it correctly. Do I say yes or no? Because it didn't sound like my street. And then when you finally get someone, they try and you try, so you're no less than 40 minutes on the phone and that's a lot of wait. A lot of times, you try to do it on your lunch break and then it would go a little further than that.
I would like to see changes made by Home Shield having more people that speak English. Sometimes, it's very difficult to understand what they were asking. They're in a different place, but sometimes they can't hear you so you have to repeat yourself. And then other times, I feel it is a dual echo so I'm like, "Oh, I'm sorry, what did you say?" And then I try and give them the spelling of my address but then they don't get it. It makes it for a little longer on the phone.
One time, I had a washer issue and it took Home Shield three months to get it correct. That's a long time. They kept sending out the wrong people who said they don't fix that kind of model. I told them it was a Whirlpool. It can't be that complicated. Sometimes people don't have that language thing with you, then they don't know what Whirlpool is, and then Home Shield would send you the wrong technician, who would then have to order parts but order the wrong thing. I had my washer completely replaced because why? All it needed was a drum and they kept ordering the wrong one for the wrong model. That took three months without any washer.
In addition, my service pay before was never over $100. Now, it's 125. I'm leery about next time, it would be 150 or 175 just for them to come out and service you three weeks on because they have to order things. They don't have anybody close enough like that company that came out was out from Sacramento and do we not have anybody local in Santa Rosa?

I've been with American Home Shield for 12 years in two different homes that I've had. I had a leak in my house with my air conditioner and the gentleman that came out to do it was the one that had come last time, which was fine ‘cause he knew my property and everything. But when I asked him to call me or text me versus sending me an email because I was at work and I didn't have my personal email up, he refused to do it because he continually was sending emails. Then he was reporting back to American Home Shield that he called me, and he didn't.
I ended up getting a second vendor but he refused to come out because the first vendor was there and he was worried about COVID. The third one was excellent. The third vendor came right out. We had a hurricane coming and they stood out in the rain and got everything done on the house, and didn't flinch about it. So it's hit or miss with their contractors. But I don't blame American Home Shield, it’s the contractors. I feel like they’re taking advantage of AHS. I reported all that to American Home Shield too. So hopefully they don't use those vendors anymore, especially the one that was lying to them. The young lady said that they were gonna take him off the list.
With the COVID thing, it was difficult to get ahold of AHS because their call center is in the Philippines. Also, there was a language barrier that was difficult to deal with. The last lady I dealt with was great. She spoke good English. But when I had to call again, it was hard to translate what the person was saying. Now the only issue that I have with them is they have billed me twice to send a different contractor, and I've yet to be reimbursed for that. But they said they were going to do it. Other than that, I would still tell people about them even with the experiences I had just because of the cost of the replacement of the items in the past. I've had water heaters and stuff like that put in.

The brief summary is that AHS has such poor customer service that it makes you feel like it's intentional to prevent you from actually claiming what you are entitled to. We got AHS with the purchase of our house. Within a few weeks our fridge was not working and we called AHS. AHS answers the phone fast (with a call back option if hold times are too long) to help me file my claim and pay a $100 assessment fee. A contractor was assigned and determined we needed a new fridge. It took him a week to file that with them, he said he was having a really hard time getting hold of them. Which, read on, is very believable.
At that point, once we were assessed to need a new fridge, they marked our assignment as "complete" online. As in, they decided I needed a new fridge, so now it's done. But I still don't actually have a new fridge. And there is no information on what to do next online or anywhere. Eventually I called and found out I have to call a different number (1-800-326-6710), that is not posted anywhere, they make you call a different number to get that number. This number has no callback option, so if you have to hang up for any reason you're right back where you started.
Right now I have been on hold for 3.5 hours "All of our associates are busy helping other customers... Please continue to hold" and I don't know if anyone will answer or not. There is a clear difference between how they operate the part of their business where they collect your money versus the part when they pay out your claims. I'll update when something else happens, but right now it feels like they're behaving very crookedly and I am very dissatisfied.

I contacted AHS today in an effort to get some resolution. I'm still on hold again after 1.5 hrs. They refuse to answer your question or give you the information to contact an administrator. I was told they don't have one. I'm writing this review again hoping they will see it and give a real response and/ or resolution. My previous info should be listed to get the details of the drama I have experienced and continue to experience.
Original Review: Where do I begin. Working with American Home Shield (AHS) has been the worst experience. It's the middle of summer and my AC went out. I have called multiple times to have it fixed. I have asked to speak with a supervisor multiple times but they will not allow it. I am told they will call me back but they haven't. I have received no info from AHS but the contractor called to tell me my out of pocket was $4100. When I called AHS (multiple times) I was told a different amount which was much less. I asked for a copy of the charges to see what AHS is covering and I still have not received it after multiple requests. I purchased a portable unit and they even provided me with incorrect email address to request a partial reimbursement. So much has happened and they keep ordering the wrong parts so it's been 3 weeks with no AC in triple digit weather.
I am still waiting on hold as I type this review. They are very incompetent and I do not recommend this company to anyone. The customer service is horrible and when you ask a question the agent has no clue what to tell you. Pay attention they never actually answer your question. They read a script and give you bs answers. Save yourself the drama and go with another company.

I’ve been with them for two and a half years and the contractors are usually good. But the last one, Quandt Plumbing, wasn't all that great. The first time they came out, the piping to my tub wasn't draining at all and they replaced some of the piping. But they left it loose so, it was still leaking. We found out when I was replacing my bathtub. So, I haven't reached out to AHS yet but I plan on calling them and letting them know. I had another issue and Quandt came back a second time but they didn’t fix anything. My recent claim with AHS went excellent. My air conditioner wasn't coming on and off at the right time. It was delayed so, I wanted to get it checked 'cause I didn't know what was going on. The contractor sent by AHS came and changed a part. He had the part in his truck, so he didn't have to order them in. It's working fine since the repair. The claim I had before the AC was the refrigerator. We thought it was the refrigerator that kept going out, but they had to do something to the electricity.

We've had American Home Shield for three, four years in Illinois and three years here. I like the security. Every time I've ever called them, they sent somebody else out to take care of things. There hasn’t been a problem. The guy from USA Air was wonderful. He told us what was going on and had it fixed in no time. It was a capacitor and he had it on his truck.
There are big ticket items that if we could find a way to fit in, it would be great. For instance, I've yet to find in their contract where it says if my air conditioning goes out, there's any help at all. They’ll call somebody over to fix it. If I lose my refrigerator, it's a little bit different on replacement cost. But I had the air conditioning for this house by USA Air and by somebody else, and it was $20,000. So, if I can fix it for $50, it would be great. But if it does go out, I don't know what American Home Shield is gonna do for me, and that's the biggest question I have.

My mom who has had American Home Shield for many years ranted and raved about them. I went with them as well and one time, I had my garage door fixed through AHS. Their contractor came right away. Recently though, I called them about my oven and it was a week and a half before their contractor came. Other than that, it has been great having AHS.

We had a broken fan when we moved into the house. The very first time I called American Home Shield, I had two things that were wrong with the house. I couldn't schedule both of them at the same time for whatever reason. I had to pick one and so, I picked the other one first. Then after a couple of weeks, I got the first thing fixed. I called back in and rescheduled for the fan to be fixed. They told me that she would be calling me to schedule it and someone from the electric company would be contacting me within a week.
We were disappointed with the first people that came out ‘cause we gave American Home Shield all the information, that it was a high ceiling. Then when I talked to the contractors, I told them that as well, that it was a high ceiling in our living room, it was a large fan and it was two stories. When the contractors came out, they were not prepared for that. Then they wanted to charge us extra money to bring equipment out or whatever they needed to get up to the fan. My husband was like, “No. We've already paid the $75 and why am I paying you extra? My contract is with American Home Shield. This is what I'm paying for.” That was a little bit of frustration and we were frustrated with American Home Shield then. We informed American Home Shield and they eventually said, “Yes, you have to pay it.”
We've had people out to the house four times to get the fan fixed. They finally had to replace it, which was good. So I'm happy that it got resolved. It was a little bit of a process to get there and we had to pay an extra fee. Not all of that was American Home Shield's fault though. Once we started dealing with the contractor then it was us calling them being like, “Hey, are you coming? You said you'd be here tomorrow or today.” Two weeks later we still didn’t have the fan fixed. But I'm satisfied that the fan finally got fixed.

American Home Shield is all right. We have expensive things here in our condo. We have a stove as well as refrigerator. The refrigerator is a Wolf that costs $10,000, so what we worry about is if it goes kerflooey, they don't give us one of equal value. They might repair it and that'd be fine, but if they have to replace it, it's not of equal value, is it? Still, we need someone to fix things and we felt that American Home Shield was a good thing to have in an emergency, to take care of it. We don't like paying $75 each time. I wish we didn't have to do that, and I could be happier without that one. One time, the guy from Armstrong Plumbing came and due to the Covid, he wore a mask and he stayed away from us. He was fine and we got a new garbage disposal, which works just fine.

I'm so impressed with Loyalty Home Services and with American Home Shield. I love the ease of doing a request online through the website. That was awesome and I got responses quickly. The contractor contacted me right away and the representatives that contacted me were friendly and helpful. They asked if I was free. They came out the next day or the day after. It was fast. They checked out the water heater and determined that it needed to be replaced. They did what they had to do with the warranty company and their own company. It happened on a Monday, they came out, and by Friday, we had a brand new water heater. From start to finish, everything was great. I got email updates stating so and so was coming. They had a picture of who was coming so that was awesome. Everybody was professional and efficient. I'm so happy that we have the warranty that we do and the company that was chosen by the company as well.

The water heater was no good. It broke down and was all rusted and rotted. I wanted somebody to come out there right away and the original people that AHS set me up with couldn't get out there timely. But the renters were sitting there saying that they had water dripping into the house and I told AHS that I needed somebody out there sooner to just take a look at it on the following Monday. So they were able to get a tech out there sooner.
The guy who came out gave me the information and he said he did a lot of work on it. I believe he did and it was very rusted, which I expected. He had a little bit of language barrier with my renters who were there but they let him in and gave him access to where the water heater was at. Based upon what he told me, he took quite a bit of time there, which exceeded what he thought. He also said he did a few extra things above and beyond and didn’t include them in the charge.
Privately, I paid separately for someone to come out there and give an assessment. They gave me a $2400 assessment and my coverage was 1,300 or something like that. So I knew I was going to have to pay out of pocket and in the end I had to pay considerably more than I would have thought. But based upon the independent assessment that I got, it was anticipated that there was going to be a lot of work. It was a unique case. Most of those are 700 to $800 jobs and done. But because it was built into the wall and did not pass code in its existing condition, the tech had to restructure the pedestal that it sits on and secure it.
Then, he had to tear out the wall for whatever reason. I was told that the doorway was not wide enough to pull out the water heater but I asked how it was put in there in the first place. He said that the builders must have built around it. But the tech closed the tear on the wall, so that meant that he had to go above and beyond. And I was told that that construction portion was not covered by American Home Shield which was why they had to do that. So far, I had no complaints from the renters about the work done. I went over there to collect rent and they said everything's working fine. I have to get back to the company again as the tech told me to follow up with him to make sure everything's good. The tech gave me his number and told me to check back in a month when everything should be fine. All in all, I liked how AHS treated me and that guy that was there.

We had electrical panels where the lights had gone off and one of the sectors in the bathroom. The two gentlemen from Stanford Electric who came out were extremely nice, very proper and professional. They were masked and they maintained appropriate distance. We showed them the problem and they looked at the breaker switch, and they essentially determined that within the breaker switch, there was a delay and the button had gotten stuck and it was a little loose. They showed us how to adjust it and how to fix it, and they solved the problem. It was very educational. Everything has worked fine since and we now understand exactly what's going on there.
Our experience with Home Shield has been very uneven. We've had some troubles with a washer and dryer and it has been very difficult right now. We just got a letter from them about two weeks ago that parts were not available for a repair on a washer. We called them yesterday and we were on hold for two and a half hours and nobody answered. Today we were on hold for three hours and nobody answered. So we called and talked to someone in the Philippines and we learned that there were 3,800 people waiting to be served and that we were in the queue with 3,800 people waiting for a phone call for an appliance exchange. So we were very disturbed by that.

The representative that I spoke with on the phone was very diligent. She called place to place until she found someone who was open on Saturday. I found that to be incredible.
A guy from Simtech came and he got right to work. He went up in the attic and looked if we had any issues up there. He was here for an hour and got the work done. But I ended up having to cough up $1,500 for something that I thought would be covered under Home Shield. That's my biggest beef right now. But other than that, it was fine. I also had an issue when I had a leak in one of my pipes. They don't cover that issue either, which still makes me feel if the warranty is worth me having. When I did my claim online, it was fine. But when I was calling in about the issues that I ended up having to speak to somebody in customer service, I easily had to wait an hour and I was an hour on hold. I would like for them to reimburse the $75 that I had to pay as a copay for something that they don't cover and use that towards something that they do cover and that they can actually resolve.

I originally started with American Home Shield in 2004 then things got tough so I let the policy lapse for a few years and then I got it again. The wait time has gotten longer. It wasn't like that before. Now it's gotten to the point where it takes sometimes over an hour. Plus, the people that I'm speaking with sometimes don't quite understand exactly what I was saying. Recently, we added an option to be able to get a callback versus just waiting on the line for them. For the AC issue, I had a call three days. Once, the person didn't even schedule an appointment. The second lady I spoke to scheduled it and Airboss Mechanical was able to come within 24 hours.
Airboss Mechanical changed some parts to the AC which stopped the fan from continuously blowing even when it is not on. A week later, it started blowing air. I put the gauge on 74 and it would reach up to 78 degrees. It wouldn't go any lower than that. The guy came yesterday. He said it was the coil so he cleaned those around the AC. That helped for a few hours, but when I woke up this morning, the pipes and the other thing that was outside was frozen ice. I don't think it's just the coils that needed to be cleaned. I think it's a deeper issue. I called American Home Shield and they're doing another recall but I haven't gotten any notification of when they'll be here to look at it again. I've had to turn the air off for four hours and not run it. It gets a little cooler then it gets hot again. So it's just a continuous back and forth with it.
Overall, AHS is definitely a great company. They've always taken care of things as far as making sure they pay for replacements or whatever the case may be. It's just sometimes people don't get the best service from the actual technicians. They don't control the contractors even though it reflects on who they're hiring as well.

The fan was not coming up in our outside AC system because the room temperature was high. It was not giving enough cooling. But when I tried to use the Nest thermostat, it was always showing as it was on. Continuously, the fan in the attic was running. That could have been the reason that it was showing as running although the outside unit was not functioning. After making a claim for it, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out and they looked into the attic. Everything was fine. But when they looked at the outside AC unit, it was not coming up and they figured out that it was a problem with the motor. They changed that and it took 30 minutes. Original Review: July 29, 2020
My AC gets broken quite often. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas has been out here for the past couple of months. It hasn't been two months yet and they've been out here four times. This was the second time I paid $75. The first time, because it was within 30 days. Now, the second time, it was beyond the 30 days. The very first time I called, the guy who came out here said that the thermostat wasn't working and that we would mess up our unit. Then the AC went out the second time and the guy said that it was electrical so they couldn't help me. He said that once the electrical was then your AC would be fine. Then we had a third guy come out when AC went out again and he said that we had low coolant and we had to pay additional. It was by the pound. So I feel a little wonky with that company.
American Home Shield put me on a waiting line for about an hour so I don't want to call them anymore. Then they'd give me the runaround so what I did was to go online, request a service request, and called it a day. I refused to speak to the AHS customer service people because they dropped the ball all the time. When I had my plumbing, I had to pay $500 to get my plumbing fixed because whoever they were gonna send out never came. I was without plumbing the entire day and the entire night until midnight. I had to call somebody else to fix it because I couldn't be without water. So, I'm at the point where I'm done with American Home Shield and their providers. I don't know who to trust anymore. I’m trying to look for a better home warranty service because American Home Shield has disappointed me one too many times.
We do apologize for the delay in regards to both service requests. We would love to discuss further in this matter. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

We had two GFI outlets on our back patio that were no longer operable. KP Electric replaced those and put some weather coverings over them so that we could have power to our back patio. The tech took about three hours to finish the work because he had to go and get some parts that he didn’t have. KP Electric was fine. But the wait times with American Home Shield are ridiculous. Also, there is no other way to contact them because they provided me no other way to do it. I don't have an email address to email them. The only thing I have is a phone number but every time I call in, it's a good 40 to 45-minute wait at a minimum.
The one thing that was frustrating with this claim was we told them what our issue was and then they dispatched the guy from KP Electric who is from Woodward, Oklahoma. It’s about a two-hour drive. After he did his work, American Home Shield told me later that it wasn't covered because it wasn't within the constraints of the four walls of my primary home. It is somewhere deeply hidden in the contract. Even though I told them that I was having an issue with our outdoor patio, they didn't ask any nitpicky questions until after the service when there was a claim due by KP Electric. So I had to pay out of pocket $178 to KP Electric because American Home Shield will not cover the entire cost. They basically paid for him to travel out here and to diagnose what was wrong and then I had to actually pay for his labor and the parts.
I could have called a local electrician and not having to pay his gas to come out and fix it. So it was a little frustrating that they didn't say up front that it was not covered. Had I known that without reading the fine print of the contract, it would have determined my decision to not use American Home Shield as a middleman for that particular transaction.
We had another claim for a dishwasher and it took a while to get paid for that. But we finally got a check paid for it. They handled that claim pretty well. The only problem was that to talk to the person that gave me the correct information that I needed to process the claim, I had to go through to other people and had to wait on hold for more than an hour just to talk to people.
There is no option on their main service line that tells you the specific contact person if you would like to file a claim or to press a number if you already have filed a claim and would like to talk to someone who's processing your claim. I just go to a repeat automated menu after automated menu and I'm on hold. Then finally, I can talk to someone and then they transfer me and I have to wait on hold for the real person I'm really looking for. For those two claims that I had, I spent a good four to five hours total on the phone just trying to talk to a live person to give me the information to make the claim.
We have renewed our service for another year so we have a new one-year subscription with American Home Shield because it's worth the value in the event that something big goes on. The problem is getting that ball to move right now is very difficult when there's no other way to communicate with them other than making a claim online. But the customer service is not bad. It's just leading to frustrating hold times and then having to go through somebody that's just a customer service rep and then they have to transfer me to some more of a specialist. Then I have to wait on hold for that person.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Home Shield's reps are really nice people. However, Complete Air Mechanical had to come back out twice but the AC is still not working. The first time, the guy got it to turn on by cleaning it in and resetting whatever he pushed to reset it. But then by that afternoon, it was 85 degrees in there again. They came back out again and he said the compressor outside was super hot. He said it's within code so it will be okay for now until it breaks again.
But then, I called them because the unit is breaking. It’s intermittent. Whatever he did would turn it back on, but then it would break again. And then I end up with four or five days in 85 degree heat in 105 degrees Orlando weather. One day, it was 94 in there. We had fans on. It was horrible. They're not coming back out because they said it's working again. It's working as of yesterday. But it doesn’t go down. If I put it on 68, it cools it to about 73, 74. It doesn’t go down. They knew that but they said it appears to be working within the numbers.

I was having issues with electricity. I turned the light on one day and all my lights went out upstairs, so I went down and I flipped the main switch in the electrical box. Usually, if something like that happens, you can trip it and then it'll be fine. Maybe something overheated or it had too many things plugged in. But we didn't do anything from a day-to-day basis. Nothing additional was plugged in. When I went back in the house to go back upstairs, within two minutes, it flipped off again. Then I could hear a humming noise. I then knew which fuses went to what, so I turned it off and gave American Home Shield a call.
When Western Electrical came, the young man was very pleasant. He took a look at the box and saw that the fuses were out. He changed the fuses. Then he saw another component dealing with my dryer and he said, “Are you having trouble with your dryer?” I said, “Yeah, I have to put it on two cycles. But I'm thinking maybe because the dryer is old.” He asked me if the dryer was drying. I said, “No, I usually have to do it on two turns.” He said that was because the fuse is out. He went ahead and changed that as well, and he put it all in the paperwork. Everything is working fine now.
My claims with AHS are very few and far in between. But I usually would do a call. I was with 2-10 before joining AHS, and I joined them just because they were a little cheaper and I knew that I didn't have that many claims. But in comparison of the two companies, 2-10 people come out sooner. For instance, if I had an issue on a Tuesday, by that Friday, someone will be here. My experience thus far with AHS is I could call on a Tuesday and they'll be out the following Friday, which is like a week and some change. I'm not exactly excited about that. When I had the electrical issue, it was a Friday. The great part about Western Electrical is they called me that Sunday just to confirm. The gentleman was awesome. He wanted to make sure that we were all right in the house. The representative who came out was equally pleasant, and he took good care of me.
As far as my claims, what I usually do is to call it in. I don't do it online because nine times out of 10, if I'm doing something or if it’s something dealing with the house, I don't have two hands to sit and type it up. It's easier for me to just get on the phone and answer the prompters because 9 times out of 10 I'm trying to investigate what's going on. They offered that every time you call, “Don't forget. You can do online.” I'm totally aware. I'm young but I'm old fashioned, too. So I prefer to speak it out so it can't be misconstrued.
The only thing is the companies that represent AHS, generally, their turnaround time is poor for me. There was one time when I had an issue on my washing machine. I ended up having to hire somebody outside of American Home Shield. The washing machine was making a clinking noise, and when I called and then I talked to the lady from the contracting company, she said, “Well, I can come and see you.” She gave me like two weeks and I said, “Ma’am, I have a family and I wash clothes.” She said, “Well, there’s nothing else I can do.” She was very unpleasant. I was asking them to do a job but I'm also paying them to do the job.
I value my time and other's time and sometimes it’s just an inconvenience. There was another time with my AC unit. They gave me like a two- week push out. I ended up having to hire a licensed electrician and said, “Hey, this is what's going on. My warranty company is giving me like a three week turnaround.” He said, “Can I come tomorrow?” “Sure.” So, I spend double money, but it's done. I'm not waiting on the mercies of someone to feel like it. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield still. Thus far, it's been a great experience. Everyone should have this kind of insurance, especially if you're a homeowner. You should continue it because the investment is priceless. It's worth having. AHS just needs to work on some of their companies and their turnaround time.

My air conditioning unit wasn’t cooling the house. I went online because I waited so long with the representative but then the website was complicated for me. I got a text message saying that the contractor would contact me. J&S All Tech came out and did an excellent job. I just wasn’t happy with the amount that I had to pay out my pocket. When the guy left that day, I turned the air up so it wouldn’t be so cold downstairs. When I came downstairs the next day, it was cold there that I couldn’t even be down there. The air never cut off, it ran all day and all night. It was 60-something and I had it on 78.
When I called the guy, he said he couldn’t do anything until I call AHS so I put it online then he came back out and corrected the problem. He said it was the thermostat. He bypassed it when he was working and forgot to unbypass it. He replaced the thermostat then certain parts of the house weren’t cooling. He got one section cold, but then my little room is still hot. He finally went back down somewhere in the basement and found that the vent has closed so he fixed it where it wouldn’t close up again, and the air started coming in that other room. Then I noticed that after he left, the fan of something was still running all the time. He wouldn't come back out. He told AHS and they gave it to somebody else. I just don't like the fact that people have to keep coming back.
Overall, I'm not very happy with American Home Shield. It takes too long to even get through to talk to somebody. Then when you get somebody, he doesn't understand you. There's a language barrier and they’re constantly repeating you. In some cases, the person comes out, does the work, and it’s fine. It's just them following back up when it’s cases where they're supposed to contact you before the technician can come back out because the job has to be approved by them for certain things.
I had a plumbing issue. As a matter of fact, it’s still ongoing. But I understand that COVID came through and I don’t want anybody in the house to come back out. It first started back in February or March. The people told me that American Home Shield was gonna contact me and they didn’t. I had to keep calling. I couldn’t find a website to contact them with other than where they want to place the orders with. Finally, I decided to hit social media and I got a response from somebody with American Home Shield and she’s been following up on that issue.

We didn't have hot water and the pilot light of our heater was out. We submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Confidence Plumbing to us. The techs relit the heater. A few days later, the pilot light was still going out. The techs came back out and ended up replacing the gas control valve. That fixed the problem and now we're back to having hot water again. I've been with Home Shield for five years now and submitting claims has been very easy and straightforward. I intend to keep them 'cause doing so results in good savings in the long run.

Drain Masters came out on behalf of American Home Shield for my claim. They dropped a new pump down my water well that was not working. They couldn't go with a 110 pump so I have to find an electrician who can up the 220. Had they told me that for the week and a half we waited for it to come in, it would've been great. I could've already found somebody to do that so that Drain Masters could complete the job. Instead, the techs told me that once I get my 220 to run, they will come back and finish the job for me. Plus, I'm waiting on a drywall guy to fill the holes in the sheetrock. Regardless, I've been very pleased with the service.
American Home Shield has been a lifesaver for me. We paid cash for a home and things were not as good as they appeared to be. The cover for my ice maker was missing and the magnetic strip that runs outside of my icebox that it needs to have to hold the cold was broken. So, my freezer was trying to air condition my entire kitchen. The refrigerator which is from 1992 was in perfect condition but the missing cover and broken strip made it impossible for us to keep it running. American Home Shield had to try to find replacement parts but manufacturers don't make stuff from 1992. So, they put a new refrigerator in for me and I'm extremely happy. Additionally, my faucets have been replaced by a quality company that does quality work. Home Shield's techs have also come out and replaced parts of my dryer that's at least 12 years old. The dryer now runs like a champ.
A lot of people are saying that they have a home warranty that doesn't cover anything. I disagree with them. We are ecstatic and thrilled with everything American Home Shield has done for us. They have been easy to work with and there wasn't any back and forth on having to do something or how parts couldn't be ordered for my refrigerator. Their reps just said how much money they will give me to replace my refrigerator or they would send a unit out and install it. I got to go out and pick one that I preferred and got to bring it in. Now, I'm just waiting on my check from Home Shield.

I've been with American Home Shield since June of 2018. Prior to COVID, submitting claims has been easy and AHS has been quick to respond. Since the whole COVID thing, their responses have been delayed. They should look into whatever they can do to make their processes faster so people can get through instead of waiting for two hours. They could offer customers and businesses who are trying to get payments approved for parts they are giving us an option where they will call back when they're available so people don't have to stay on hold.
Recently, I had an issue with my sump pump and water was backing up into my laundry room. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent B&B Plumbing to handle it. They had to replace a motor but we were having issues getting through to AHS to speak to someone for the techs to do an add-on for a part. AHS's system wouldn't allow them to do that online. B&B kept contacting me to get a hold of American Home Shield to add that part on and it was supposed to be covered. The rep from B&B kept telling me she would be on hold for two hours trying to get through.
Other than this issue though, they have always been really good for me and I've always been satisfied with Home Shield. When I called them, the reps said that a technician had called regarding the add-on and it was approved. B&B provided great service. They got my issue fixed quickly. I had the problem at night and they were at my place by early afternoon the next day to fix it.

The contractors who came for our AC unit were very nice and didn’t dillydally. They got right to business. The AC seems to be working as of right now. The last time when our washing machine was on the fritz, AHS picked out one for us. It's GE and the one we had was Samsung. For some reason, that new washer, when my wife tries to wash with just cold water, we set it up to cold and it’s still hot. I don’t know what’s up with that thing. My wife and I are debating on renewing AHS, because they raised it almost $200 a year. But I don't know what it would have cost to just have the contractors come fix the air without going through the warranty.

Also, the person on the last call that could barely speak English was not very pleasant. But overall, it's been very good. I had an AC claim and Floyd Services came out. The guy blew out a drain line. He was a very nice and conscientious young man. My husband was in a rehab facility at the time and the tech asked about him and said he hoped that my husband would do well once he got home. Also, he had a mask on.

In general, we've had American Home Shield a long time and they've done a lot of service for us. It's been very good because we're getting older and it's harder for us to call around to find somebody to do things. We just have to make one call and it's worked out well, except for one occurrence when we had problems with our dryer. That was never resolved. After trying to fix what was wrong, four different visits, I kept waiting for American Home Shield to make an offer about replacing the unit because it wasn't gonna get fixed. That never came about, so I just turned it off and bought a new dryer. Recently, I made a service request for a plumbing issue and F6 Plumbing came when they said they would. The first guy didn't have the piece of equipment he needed, and they immediately got somebody else and got the issue fixed very quickly.

We had a leaking sink. When Drain GO came out, they did a few things. When they figured out the cause, the tech said the part that needed to be replaced wasn't covered. So being everything was done, it was like, "Okay, well we'll just have to do what we have to do." When that was done, he charged about 150 for the part, and then we also had to pay the $79 for the service. He said he called American Home Shield and they said that those parts would have to be covered. What we asked for was done. It's just the additional cost came as a surprise. It turned out that the AC more or less fixed itself. We have the Duke Power load share and on really hot days when there's a lot of loads, it basically shuts things down. So everything has been perfectly fine. Anytime we've had to have a repair done, it's almost always Comfort First. The gentleman who came out on that day had been out here before at least once. We had a person from Myers come out to look at the air condition unit. He told me what I was gonna need but I wanted him to look at the one upstairs too. So he told me I would have to call back and place another work order. When I called, they charged me separately for each unit. I’ve been with American Home Shield for a long time so I know pretty much how it works. But I needed my air fixed and I didn't have time to go back and forth. So I had them come out and fix the one upstairs. They had to replace something on there. Myers also looked at the one in the bedroom and they gave me a quote. We would have to pay $1,500 to get it fixed. But I didn't hear from them after a few days, so I just got somebody outside to come in and fix it.
When I renewed with American Home Shield, they explained to me that they wouldn't just sell the warranty I had to regular homeowners. So I was under the impression I had everything in my entire house could be covered. But now certain things are not covered. On top of that, my service fee went up from $75 to $100 per service. So I’m going out my pocket getting my master bedroom fixed. But I went ahead and let them fix that one ‘cause they were paid for everything. At the time the guy was up there fixing that air conditioner, I saw a leak in my bathroom. My hot water tank was leaking down through the roof. I had too much going on dealing with American Home Shield, so I just paid for that out of pocket. So for me, I'm still spending too much money out of pocket to have the coverage.

I submitted this claim for a hot water heater issue. The company, again, responded quickly and got a person out here. Their policy for replacing hot water heaters does not permit for the cost associated with doing some of the things that are necessary in order for it to follow the proper installation procedure required in the state. In order to properly install the hot water heater, we need to add an expansion tank. There is also a need to make an adjustment to the gas line that is going into the hot water heater. That's required legally in order for it to be a legal and proper install in the state.
However, American Home Shield will only pay for the actual hot water heater to be swapped out. Any backup things that are needed in order to make it permit compliant won't be covered in the cost. From my perspective as a homeowner, if you can't pay for it to be properly installed, then you're not paying for it. They need to align their policy for replacement to the requirements that are established for the state where the replacement needs to happen so that the funding for the replacement includes the things that are necessary in order for it to be compliant with the permit process in that state.

I had another outfit out of about a week earlier and they solved a few minor problems in it and it was supposedly a little bit low on Freon. I was wanting to have him come out and see if there was anything that would be covered. They had it fixed before it went out altogether. He came out and looked at it and there was nothing he could do to it till something would happen with it. He just put in half a pound Freon and didn't charge me anything for it, whereas the other people that had checked the AC a week earlier just told me it was low on Freon.
I didn't know that it was a kind of maintenance. Of course, I live in Arizona where the temperature's 115 degrees. I'm not looking forward to wait until the AC goes all the way out to get it fixed if we know something's wrong with it although I can understand the policy that I can wait until after something breaks. But it's a fairly old air conditioner and it's gonna go one of these days. I'm trying to stay a step ahead of it if I can.
I don't know if that's AHS responsibility or not. I don't understand what's covered and what's not covered. I get a small little paper with little bitty type on there. It takes two weeks to read it all and then I don't understand it to begin with. AHS should try and make it to be a little bit more understandable as to what's covered and what's not, or whether something has to completely stop working for their services to be valid, or whether there's larger maintenance things that might help to alleviate some major problems later on down the road. Minor problems cause more major problems later. But I guess the coverage all depends on what a person is paying for. Overall, I'm relatively happy with the service so far.

Updated on 09/09/2020: After our initial poor experience, a member of their retention team reached out to us to try to keep us as a client. It took them nearly 2 months to replace our refrigerator in the middle of the summer. Also, for a plumbing call the plumber arrived, but never completed the job. His office closed the call and said it was complete. The retention department offered to send them out again, and waive the dispatch fee if we allowed them this chance to "see the value" in their product. We reluctantly agreed.
The service provider came, and finished the job. At that point we were happy, and decided to give them a call again when our garbage disposal quit working. I submitted the work order for that call and paid the $100 dispatch fee on my debit card. The plumber returned and fixed our garbage disposal without any trouble. Shortly after we received a notice in the mail demanding payment for the service fee.
I have attempted several times to call their office to discuss this matter, however I am met with hold times well in excess of 2 hours. Who has time for that?!?! At the end of the day, we were duped and lied to again. We held up our end of of the agreement, but American Home Shield backed out. I am disgusted with my decision to allow them another opportunity to lie to us. Do not trust this company with your home. All they have done is lie to us, and give us false promises.
Original Review: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY! Unless you enjoy your time being wasted, being angry, frustrated, and being forced to self-manage claims by yourself as well as spend hours upon hours being stuck on hold. This company is an absolute joke, and disgrace to others who do a much better job. More often than not phone calls are routed to a foreign call center full of useless agents who do nothing but make false promises and blow smoke up your rear end. We had to wait more than 40 days for someone to finally approve to replace our refrigerator, and that was after spending more than 20 hours on the telephone with various people all over the globe apparently to get it to happen.
They also dropped the ball big time with service. We had issues with a toilet, two sinks, and two bath tubs. The provider they sent out told us he would return in a couple of days to replace one faucet. He never showed. I called 3 days later and AHS told us they reported we would purchase the faucet ourselves. (We never said that). He said we would have to pay an additional service call fee in order to have him fix the other faucets in the house.
In the rare occasions when you manage to get someone from their domestic call centers, they do manage to get things done. However, more often than not you are left dealing with incompetent fools who lie to your face. Your phone calls will never be returned, emails unanswered, and you will have to sit on hold for at least an hour just for someone to pick up the phone. Then if the call drops you have to repeat the process. We used to have First American Home Warranty, and we left due to minor challenges compared to what we have had to deal with at American Home Shield. For what we pay in premiums to AHS, we expect more. This company is a joke, and they have no respect for your home, health, safety, time, or sanity. If you are considering this company, do yourself a favor and run from them as fast as possible. I can't wait until our contract is up.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

I originally submitted a request for service on my AC on 5/31. A contractor came out a few days later and said it was out of freon. So I paid $230 to get freon added, since AHS only covers the first $10 per pound.
On 7/9 our AC stopped cooling again. I submitted a service request on 7/10 and the assigned contractor couldn't come for a week. I called AHS to see if they could find another contractor who could come sooner, which they did but the contractor only came one day sooner. And they never cancelled the service from the original company. They showed up at my door the next day and were pissed when I told them I had cancelled. I specifically asked the AHS rep I spoke with if I had to call and cancel the other appointment and the rep said NO, they would take care of it. The contractor I am now dealing with said there's a freon leak, which was not found 5 weeks prior when I originally submitted a service request.
The contractor recommended a new unit but, of course, knew AHS wouldn't approve until they try to repair. Contractor said he'd be surprised if they found the part for the condenser coil since the unit is 20+ years old. On 7/14 I was told the part was approved and ordered but I would now have to pay $468 for freon AGAIN! The contractor told me I should stay on top of AHS because they can drag their feet, so that's what I have been doing. On 7/15, I was told the part had been ordered and shipped. On 7/16 I was told the order had not been placed because I had to pay the contractor first and the contractor ordered the part. I told this to the contractor and they stated it was incorrect. The contractor got their AHS rep involved and it was sorted out, or so I thought.
The part was finally ordered on 7/18 and I was told it would be delivered on 7/24. I called every day in between to make sure I was told the same thing since I have been told different things multiple times when I call. It wasn't delivered on 7/24 so I called on 7/25. The AHS rep said the order was still expected on 7/24 and the status had not been updated. She said she could not contact the parts department since it was closed on the weekends but she said she would call me back 7/27 after she spoke with them to provide me an update. I did not receive a call so I called AHS again on 7/27. The person I spoke with this time said, once again, the part was expected on 7/24. Anyone see a problem?
Again, nothing had been updated in their system and this rep told me he was unable to call the parts department and the contractor must do that. Again, different from what the previous rep had told me. I have asked for tracking information on the part, to talk to a supervisor or to call the parts department myself. I was told I was not allowed to do any of that. I was once again told I would receive a call on 7/28 with an update, so we will if that happens. I have called AHS 17 times in 19 days. I have called the contractor about the same. I do not have a problem with the contractor, they have assured me they will do the work as soon as the part comes in. All I want is clear and consistent information. If they told me, for sure, the part will be delivered by 8/5 or whatever, I'd be ok.
I understand things are backed up with Covid. I just want correct info! I don't want to call back the next day and get told something different. I am so afraid I am going to call one day and be told the part has, in fact, not been ordered or it was the incorrect part or something else. I feel like every rep I talk to just lies or talks out their ** to get me off the phone. Well, it's a little late, but I am now recording names and employee ID when I speak with a rep. If this goes on much longer we are going to cancel our plan and find our own contractor to replace the unit.

Updated on 08/03/2020: I placed a request for my AC unit on 07/25/2020. Weather here has been over the 100 every day. I have yet to hear back from them!!!! I tried calling and they don't call me back. I have children and 2 elderly parents at home and they do not care about that.
Original review: I submitted my service request on 07/24/2020 (AC UNIT). Contractor finally showed up today 07/27/2020 3 days later and now I still have to wait for an approval. It is 105 degrees and they don’t care. I was on hold for more than an hour and the rep was rude to me. I would not recommend this service. DISAPPOINTED.

Firstline Locksmith came out for a new home rekey and they were good. However, we had a claim with the air conditioning unit and it’s not good. The air conditioning unit didn’t work and American Home Shield sent a contractor out here. They were supposed to submit the report but they didn’t. A week went by and they kept saying they did. They kept lying to us this whole time and it's hot outside.
I called American Home Shield and it was like over an hour wait. When finally someone picked up the phone, it was someplace else and I couldn't understand what they were saying. The phone would be disconnected and no one would call us back. I'm very dissatisfied especially with the call center situation. I can't get anybody that speaks English and it's an hour, hour and a half every time that you call. It was terrible. It’s not been a good experience. I ended up paying for the air conditioner and I just submitted the receipt to see if I can get some money back.

The claims submission part was easy. However, if you need to submit a receipt or some sort of picture of a product, there's no way to do that through the online portal. You cannot message somebody and you cannot upload something to show them, “Hey, this is my receipt. Can you please add it to my contract?” In addition, it's long call wait times typically when you call Home Shield's customer service. Granted, the pandemic is probably causing even more extended delays, which is expected, but my average calls have been over 30 minutes just trying to get ahold of somebody. But when you get to someone, they're generally helpful. The only other problem was getting somebody to be assigned quickly when you have an issue. A day or two has typically been the experience that we've had. Everything is on the same level of urgency.

Blake from Link's Heating & Cooling had come out and fixed a couple of different AC problems that I had. He also helped me figure out what I needed to do and things. He's a pretty awesome guy. He found out that I did not have an AC problem but an electrical problem. I paid the deductible for the AC. Now, I have an electrician that's supposed to be coming out but I have to pay another deductible for it which is a little excessive.
American Home Shield is awesome as long as you go online and do your claims there. But if you try to talk to them on the phone, it's like beating your head into a wall. Their phone center is horrible. I've had AHS for a couple of months and I've had to call a couple of times. I got tired of trying to call and talk to people. First off, half of them don't speak English well and it makes it very difficult to explain things to them. I sat on hold for an hour and 30 minutes the other day for a five-minute conversation. Also, most of the things that I've called AHS for are beyond the scope of the warranty. But I haven't had a problem getting somebody out.

Everything with Shields Plumbing went all right. When they came out, they fixed the issue and not even two days later, we had more problems. American Home Shield doesn't pay for them to go on top of the roof. So instead of calling them back and going through them, we just called another plumber to come out here, and pay them the 150 because that's how much it's gonna initially cost us with the $75 on top of what they charge to go on top of the roof. I even called them back and I never got a response.
Other than that, we love American Home Shield. I’ve gone online before and I've done claims over the phone, and both of them are very easy. We just wish AHS pays for someone to go on the roof. The only way that someone can get into my mom's plumbing is for them to go on the roof. My mom doesn't have an outlet outside that comes into the house. It only goes out her sewer lines. So every time we have to use it, we end up having to pay the 75 on top of what they're gonna charge. That's something they should look into.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We are working to improve the overall customer experience. Thanks for your patience during this process.

We have our thermostat set at 77 in the summer. We were out of our house for two and a half hours and when we came back in, our temperature was at 79 and climbing. We checked the condenser outside and it wasn't running. I turned the power off and on and I went back out. 10 minutes later, our condenser started running. I wanted someone to take a look to see if there was a part that we should replace or if some repair was needed. We have someone who looks at our unit every six months for summer and winter use and we wanted to use them. When I called Home Shield, they said that that company is not one of their designated folks.
They sent Stockdale Service Company the next morning and I was extremely pleased with their tech. He was a no-nonsense guy and seemed upright and honest. He told me that I could have a frozen line which happens in the summer and then that line would thaw out after I've shut the unit down for a while. He told me there was nothing seriously wrong with my unit. While I wasn't happy that the tech couldn't come 'til the next day, we got the problem handled and Stockdale did a terrific job.
Through the years, I've trusted American Home Shield and they have been fantastic. We generally report claims by telephone and for something that we need taken care of quickly, like when our refrigerator went out, they were very quick about it. I'm very happy with the way their process is now. We have recommended them to our friends and when they saw how quickly things are responded to, they were very pleased.

I've had American Home Shield for a combination of 10 years. I had a home before I got married and I had American Home Shield with that residence. When my husband and I got married, he had American Home Shield here. As of right now, I don't have any complaints. Recently, the washing machine drum had filled up with water and it wasn't spinning. Anytime that I would turn it to the wash cycle, it would continue to fill up with water but the water would never drain. With my dryer, when you turn it on and you go to open the door which would automatically shut it off, the dryer kept running. You had to push the button manually to stop it. The two technicians came out, fixed the issue within a matter of 15, 20 minutes, and it was good to go. They were very professional. They explained to me what the problem was. They saved me thousands of dollars. Instead of replacing two major appliances, they were able to fix it.

The dishwasher was not working so I told AHS and the rep told me it may be changed or replaced. But when the service guy from Arno came in, he told me he cannot fix it because it has bigger problems. AHS sent me an email for a new one and gave me three options.

It didn't seem like the house was getting as cool as we thought it would be. I filed the claim online through the AHS dashboard. To be able to make a claim, get a service call, pay online, to have some level of accountability and tracking of that through the portal, that dashboard doesn't check all the boxes of making me super happy with the home warranty policies in general. But it certainly satisfied a lot of their critiques that I had in the past. I was pretty impressed.
ACS Absolute Comfort came out, looked at the unit, and made some recommendations to have some system upgrades. However, there was no follow-up work. They weren’t replacing a compressor or lines. There was no scheduled next step forward with that particular contractor. But there were some things outside of the tenets of the policy that could be done like doing a little bit better insulation in the house. I'm generally satisfied thus far and happy with the overriding policy approach protection as well as the service approach with American Home Shield against major systems.

I always like American Home Shield's service. It's always super quick. Not even 10 minutes, and you get a response from them. Their claim process is very easy. We don't really do much. They take care of it. They sent Eagle Air out for our AC unit. They were great. The technician was super nice and helpful. The problem wasn't with the AC unit, but it was an electric problem. Some people would say, “Oh, you should’ve known.” But he said, “Don't worry about it. It's a common mistake. You actually need the electrician, but everything else is fine.” He also said, “If it's not, let us know and we’ll come right back out.”
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

Everything went well so far with Total Air Care. The guy knew what he was doing. He came in, did what he had to do, and he left. He was very good at what he does. He had a mask and all the stuff on for precautions. I had no problem since he came out and fixed the unit. I feel American Home Shield is a good company. They come right out. I pay my little deductible and I’m done with it. I recommend it to everybody.

The air conditioning just quit working. There was no cooling at all. It's 100 degrees in Georgia in the summer, so we definitely need a running AC. The Home Shield website was easy to use when I put the claim in and then I was told that somebody would contact me within 24 hours. Some of the options could be more specific on the website. For example, when I had to put in the second and third requests, the problem had changed but there wasn't really a way for me to show that. I should be able to explain there what was already done and what was still wrong. It took quite a few phone calls to get that sorted out.
Everyone from Express was very helpful. But I ended up having them out four times. I was frustrated in the end because they finally told me that when they would come out to fix something from the warranty, they would only check that one thing. So they kept missing other issues that continued to be a problem. Having a more comprehensive check would have been helpful and it would have saved them a lot of time in the end, and me a lot of trouble. But since the fourth visit, everything is great.

Jed did a wonderful service. They realized that the other service providers that Home Shield had sent out previously over the past year put in a faucet that’s not a Moen. The tech called Moen and told them what the part was. They sent me out a brand new part. He got the faucet that I needed. And when the part came in, I called Jed back. Jed sent the same guy back out. He installed it and told me that there were other things that needed to be fixed under my sink but I would have to go back to Home Shield to get them to authorize it. So overall, Jed did a fabulous job. They know what they're doing and that's what I like. I wasn't told to do something that I wouldn't have a clue how to do, like call in to get a part that was still under warranty reordered.
Jed’s plumbing guy came out that we had a broken water two-way water valve that needed to be replaced and to call Home Shield and tell them that we need to have that part replaced as well. I called Home Shield 10 times trying to get them to authorize them to replace the part. Every time I talked to someone from Home Shield, they would say, “Well, let me call Jed.” They would call Jed and say they weren't able to get anybody on the line at Jed and they would call me back once they can get the part and get it authorized. We went back and forth about three weeks and with me calling Home Shield back. When they finally said, “Well, I called Jed and Jed said, okay, they did put the part on here, but you need another service agreement with American Home Shield.” And because just when we can't accept, I called Home Shield back and told them what Jed said. Home Shield said, “Okay, we're gonna reach out to Jed. We’ll call you back.”
I called Home Shield back about two days later. They still, “Let me put you on hold. I'ma call Jed and see what Jed was talking about.” This went on and on and on. At the end of the day, four weeks later, I still have a broken two-ways water valve because Home Shield could not work with Jed to figure out what Jed needed. This is really aggravating. Am I not a customer that pays a service fee? I shouldn't have to do that. It should have been one phone call and Home Shield and Jed should have been able to work out what the issues were and resolve them. As the customer, it shouldn't have taken me three weeks to try to get something resolved and it still didn't get resolved because Home Shield couldn't reach Jed. It's always an issue with them. I'm really about to drop Home Shield.
My biggest issue with Home Shield outside of what just happened is that they send these companies out to do the work and they companies come in and do bad jobs and the quality of work doesn't last, like with my leaking faucet. I've had issues with that faucet for a year and a half. I've had three providers come out that Home Shield sent out. This last time, they sent the guy out and I refused to pay the service fee. I said I won't pay $125 when I just had them out here six months ago for the same faucet that is still leaking.

I'm a real estate agent and I've been selling American Home Shield for 30 years. I am happy with the plan. I'm not going to recommend it if I don't feel like they do what I lead my clients to believe that they do. So far, so good. It's been only recently that I've used it myself. The contractor did a great job. They were speedy, timely and seemed to be knowledgeable. Something was clogged up in the AC and they unclogged it. Then it didn't seem to be working and they came right back and tooled with it again, and I haven’t had an issue with it since. However, I filed a claim about my oven yesterday and I still haven’t even got a call back. I don’t even know who it’s assigned to.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. I see you have an appointment scheduled for today and I hope all works out for you. Take Care.

We had a claim with the igniter for the stove and the contractor was here within three days. The parts were covered, but we had to pay the $75 fee for the appointment. We had one other claim where the evap coil was leaking. It was gonna end up costing us $1200 and some dollars for a replacement on our cost to get whatever part that American Home Shield would have given us as part of the coverage. They would also have had to make it fit the unit and work with parts and have them filled back up the refrigerant, which was the old style.
It was 80 bucks a pound and they only paid $10 a pound towards it. It wasn't worth fixing the old unit and I told the guy that I was not putting $1200 in a 16-year-old air conditioner, so we just got a whole new replacement. American Home Shield only gave us 880 bucks towards the new unit that was was around $9,000, so it was not very much. If it's all they're gonna cover on it, then it's not worth it. If it hadn't come with the sale of the house, I won't be renewing it.

I've had American Home Shield before with other houses. For the house I have now, I just renewed with them and this is my second year. I'm really happy with the service. They're doing great. Their claims process is extremely easy. I just go online and fill out the form. Sometimes the sewer line gets backed up in this house. It's a known problem. I've had to do a service request three or four times since I've had the house. A guy with J & K Plumbing came out and I showed him exactly what the problem was. He knew immediately what it was and was able to go find the right place in the sewer line to go snake out the drain and got it fixed really quickly.
