My most recent claim was for a replacement for a chlorine generator for my pool. Submitting a claim online is a heck of a lot easier than over the phone. I did it on the same day I discovered the issue and the contractor was tremendous. I’ve had AHS warranty in other homes with pools and we’ve dealt with the same contractor.

I had a claim for the stove and another one for the exhaust. The contractor for the stove was quick. They were in and out. They were there the first week to check, and then the following week, they brought the part, and it was done and over with. They were pretty good. I’m very happy with them. But the exhaust is not yet fixed and it’s almost two months now. The guy is supposed to come next week, bring the part, and fix it. The contractor didn’t even call and notify us what was going on. He only checked one of the exhaust. It was supposed to be two. He is also supposed to check the other exhaust next week.
The reps at American Home Shield were very friendly and willing to help. One of the reps tried to call and verify what was going on with my claim. The next day, she called, and she was very, very good. I’m very grateful about American Home Shield. I had them since I was in San Diego back in 2011. I’m happy with their service. I have recommended them to my sister and she signed up with them.

I had a leak in the second floor bathroom which had been going on for a couple of days. I went online and submitted a claim with AHS. The process was pretty good and I was surprised by how well the thing worked. Then, the tech that they sent out came on time and he was polite. He took care of the problem in one day and he was great. I had a couple of other claims before and my experience had been greet as well. I'm very pleased by this experience and I would recommend AHS.

AHS has been pretty good. I mostly submit my claims with them over the phone and it has been pretty easy. I haven’t had a ton of contractors come out but the ones that have come out had been fine. They’ve communicated with me and they had been professional. Recently, I had a shower valve that leaked. AHS sent out J&M HCP and they fixed that.

I always go online when I have a claim to submit with AHS and their website is very easy to use. Usually, they send a tech out within 24 hours but some companies reach me really fast or in couple of hours. But I had a problem with the pool guy that they sent out. He had a really weird attitude but I didn't care as long as he did his job. The second time he was supposed to come, he didn't contact us after two days. He didn’t call back or email us. So, we called American Home Shield and he lied about that.
Hi Xun,
It was a pleasure to read your feedback about your experience with using the online portal.

The water heaters were banging around, so we called American Home Shield and got that handled. I also paid the $100 for the contractor to come out. They replaced the water heater plumbing and we had to pay extra for modification on the thing, so that was an extra $175. I didn’t expect that, but that was in the contract. But that turned out all right. It took about two weeks after we put the claim in for us to get the water heater.
I'm still in the middle of my recent claim for the washing machine. The tech had to come out twice and he found out that it couldn't be repaired. So they told me to call American Home Shield and they will order a replacement. I have to give them the measurements of everything and the model number. So, I’m surprised that the company that American Home Shield was working with didn’t give all that to them. It’s been taking a while for them to come around for that. I had another warranty company some years ago when I was living in Las Vegas, and they took care of something for me, but I didn’t have to go through all these things about telling the model number and the measurements.
Overall, I’m happy that I have American Home Shield because they saved me money so far. They've stood by with what they said. Their contractors have been okay. Both of them cleaned up very well, which was nice. I didn’t expect them to go out, and they both went out on me, so that was good. The guy that came out for the washing machine seemed to know what he was doing.

I had a loose screw and submitted a claim for it online to American Home Shield. However, I'm having trouble now with the payment. I've submitted payment three times but their website keeps saying that it's processing. Then, AHS sent me things saying that I haven't paid. Still, the tech who came out was great. He came out twice and did a good job. He fixed it. Overall, my experience was great.

I was thoroughly impressed with the folks American Home Shield had sent. I try to get my air conditioner checked twice a year, and the previous people who serviced it overlooked matters which Air Essential brought to my attention and repaired. Presently, the air conditioner is functioning in capacity. I could not be more pleased because it’s essential out here in the Phoenix area. AHS has been quite satisfactory so far.

We needed an air conditioner repair as the thermostat went out. I did an online request with AHS but it was a three-day call. I wasn't gonna burn out for three days so I called them. The rep took care of everything for me just fine. She got a contractor out there the next day. They were very clean. It took them a little bit longer to find the problem than I thought but they took care of it. They showed me how to work the new thermostat and they also went and checked the refrigerant to make sure everything was okay. I'm really happy with them. Everything works great.

We have AHS for 15 years now and we've had several claims within that period of time. We usually make them over the phone and it's pretty easy. They say using the internet is easy but there's so much security problems on the internet until it makes it so hard to do anything on it. But AHS emailed me information and confirmations. Very nice, extremely cooperative, very pleasant guy.
Recently, we filed a claim for the hot water heater and the tech that was sent out was very professional. We were surprised how quickly he got here. He also had a very good personality and he understood our problem very well as well as the urgency of it. He was very nice and extremely cooperative. He checked the hot water heater and said that he had to replace it. Since then, everything seems to be working fine. We were extremely pleased with that plumber and if we have something that's not covered by the warranty, we would call him and keep him on in case we need him again.
Other than that, through our 15 years with AHS, we've only had one problem. But it wasn't them, it was the service person they had sent out on one particular issue. We weren't happy with him. But that was years ago. AHS had gotten several complaints about them and they no longer use them. I've also recommended AHS in the past on several occasions. There are a lot of new ones coming out now but all of them don't do as good a job as AHS. They are the first ones I've ever heard of and they were initially recommended to us by our realtor when we bought the house. This was a realtor we had tremendous respect for and he told us that AHS is the best one.

American Home Shield sent out BestWay Mechanical to check on my air conditioner. They were paid $75 just to make sure everything was going properly because this was a new condo. The technicians were here for about 30 minutes. They walked around to look at the unit and I was told it didn’t look the best but it was operating properly. The adjustments throughout the unit, you wanna make sure it’s all going through. I’m glad that got done and you know the readings.
But the one thing that I don't understand is that I noticed that the thermostat doesn’t give an overall reading. This condo was built in 2004 and I'm new to my home. I came from a home that was built in 1948 and we had central air and heat put in 1999. I am loving that because you could really adjust it. That's why I’m still a little confused about the part in the thermostat reading where it’s hot and I was like, “Let me turn on the fan.” But it got too cold. It’d be freezing cold in here but it’s still way up there close to 70. I was a little disappointed. I remember this morning thinking that I wish the technicians had checked that, but that might not be something they do.
Another thing is the homeowner that owned the condo previously bought the AHS warranty which was more convincing for me to buy. I wasn’t really living here in the beginning. We had a storm here and my condo was struck by a lightning. I lost my TV and my receiver that went with the DirecTV. There’s also an outlet in my bathroom that doesn’t work. I called AHS about the TV and they said they didn’t cover it. But I didn’t know the outlet didn’t work then. I’ll give AHS a call and just kinda double check with that. They may send someone out to look at it.

I’ve used American Home Shield many times and it has been extremely easy submitting claims. I had a blower unit issue at one point, another one when we were abroad and this issue. The upstairs was not getting down the temperature and I ruled out a few things. I called AHS and they said they had to call three other AC and heating and cooling companies because it's a rooftop condenser unit. So, K&J Mechanical, the contractor, was finally available and able to come and look at the unit.
The guy I worked with was good and nice. I was at a play date with five other friends when he called and he was trying to rectify the whole situation because it was a rooftop. I told him that I could not be put on hold to wait around for him to call and come back to me. Either we do it later or he could make sure to call me back. He said he totally understood and he was super good about it. He said he would make sure that I get a call back from him and he followed through that arrangement which was awesome.

Every experience that I've had with any of the technicians that American Home Shield have sent out has been positive. We recently had Mechanical Contractors come out to do a tune-up on my air conditioning unit. Upon the tech's arrival, he started looking at my unit and realized that they were parts missing. So, he came inside and he told me that he couldn't do anything. He couldn’t put any Freon in the unit because it would just come back out because certain things that should have been in place to prevent it from coming out were gone. He also advised me that my warranty insurance would not replace my air conditioning system. I contacted my homeowners insurance and explained to them what the technician said. They helped me file a police report. And now, the same company is coming out to do the evaluation on my units so that I could give an estimate to my insurance company to get the units replaced.
The tech was very honest and open with me and I appreciate that since I am layman when it comes to mechanical things and how they operate and what to do about it. He was very, very careful not to tell me what direction to take because he didn’t want it to go into a gray area where he was telling me what to do, and I appreciated that.

Thereafter, Sears' techs came out but then they had to order a part. It came later and they repaired my refrigerator. It has been performing perfectly since.

The refrigerator wasn't cooling so I filed a claim online and American Home Shield sent me an email pretty quickly with the company that was gonna come and visit. Shenandoah scheduled the service for the next day, and they came out very early as they said they would. The first technician replaced the defrost probe. And then, the refrigerator worked for a little bit, but the it quit working again. So, the next technician came back, and he found a wire that was disconnected and reconnected it up and everything started working. But a couple of days later, the refrigerator quit cooling again. The same technician came out when we called again for support and he tested the electrical system and he said that the probe is shorted out, which means there may be a further electrical issue in the refrigerator. He recommended to the company that the refrigerator be replaced with a new unit.
We're still working on the replacement right now. American Home Shield gave us what they would give us, and we found a refrigerator that we liked better, that is about the same cost. As soon as we get that delivered, we will file the documentation with them, and they would reimburse us the amount they said they would cover. Overall, American Home Shield responded quickly and we're gonna get a new refrigerator. Everything worked out great and we are very satisfied.

After which he finished unit still wouldn’t come on, so he went into garage and said something was wrong with heat so air wasn’t going to work, but yet it was running before the fan broke so he kept at it then he found a blown fuse. And fan they put unit is so loud it’ll wake up the dead. So what’s next I have granddaughter with sickle cell anemia and she can’t do heat because she has a very bad pain. Then she has to go to hospital. I feel like I’ve been treated very unfair with this and much as they’re worked on it it shouldn’t be this way year after year.
Original Review: They sent someone out two times THIS YEAR, to check air system, still not cooling, then a week later, the system blows to bits, so now I have nothing. Then they’re going to tell me I have to wait for part that they don’t know when or if they’re coming in, without even offering me something to cool my house while I wait. When it’s big appliances, they don’t want to replace them. Just keep patching them up, and in the meantime you’re the one suffering. I feel like they don’t care enough about their customers, but a a payment late they’ll blow your phone up, I am so disappointed.
Good morning Jocelyn,

You think purchasing a home warranty will save your hassles, time and efforts. Well think again. The most recent experience with AHS made me think it's a mistake to call them out for a service and it's a mistake to purchase home warranty. My service order with AHS on replacing a faucet caused more damage than the original repair. AHS said they don't cover the damage under the contract.
I put in a service request with AHS to replace a leaking faucet that goes out from the wall. The technician from All-out pluming came. The technician had to break the mortar in the wall to take the faucet out. The technician didn't tell me anything up front but the moment I saw him breaking the mortar, I asked if the technician will fix and re-patch the mortar afterwards. I got the answer "yes, don't worry, I will re-mortar it. It will be same as before." But, in the end, after the faucet replaced, the technician was patching the wall using a different color. My wall mortar is white and his is dark grey.
I requested the technician to stop and using the same color, and technician responded "this is the only color I carry. Actually I am doing a courtesy to re-mortar it as it's not covered in your contract." Well, that is very different information from what was given while he breaking the mortar. The technician left with a hole in the wall on that day and I didn't sign off their work.
The next day I found there was a leak coming from the wall above the ground but just under the repaired faucet. I reported it to AHS and AHS had the same technician came back. It turns out the technician broke the faucet connector the first time and had to replace it. The leak is repaired but now the hole got way bigger as technician had to replace the connector as it's way deeper in the wall. Now the technician left with a much bigger hole in the wall.
I called AHS for four times to only hope to repair the damage that was made - the big hole in the wall. In the last two calls with AHS, the customer service repeated saying repairing mortar is not in the contract. I had reinstated the mortar damage is not the original service request but the damage made by the technician. In the end, the AHS customer service left me on the phone with background music for long time and I had to hang up. I spent way much time and efforts on this repair and in the end, it caused more damage than the original repair. I am not gaining but losing more money, time and efforts.

I had switched to American Home Shield about nine months ago because I was dissatisfied with Choice Warranty. I was very happy with my experience with American Home Shield.

We called American Home Shield to submit a claim for the dryer and the rep was very thorough, very pleasant, and knowledgeable. The dryer wasn't spinning and the contractor took out the drum and they did their job. And then they checked the stove, and they told us what we needed, and that we had to call. They were all so thorough also. The rep gave us several choices and gave me some time to think about it. We’re very pleased with American Home Shield. When we got a letter that it was time to renew, there was no thinking about it. We’re gonna renew again and hope everything turns out for the best.

I went online to file the claim and the website was pretty easy and simple to navigate through. I was given 24 to 48 hours or so to expect the contractor to come out. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas did show up within that time frame but the first gentleman didn’t inspect the air conditioning fully. Usually, when they come out, they check the upstairs unit and make sure it’s okay. Then they check to make sure if there is any air blowing then they go outside. This guy did not do any of that. He did not diagnose the problem properly either. They had somebody come to install the compressor and then they had somebody to come and diagnose the problem. But he was saying that it was electrical then it wasn’t. He had to come back out only to tell me that it was the compressor when he should have been able to diagnose that from the beginning. But they've come out before and I’ve never had any problems with them. Also, the service from the guy who actually fixed it was really good.
The process took a much longer time and the weather was getting warmer so it was hot in my house for about a week. If he had diagnosed initially, maybe that time could’ve been cut in half. But I’m happy with the final outcome. Overall, my experience with the air conditioning company was good. But with the dishwasher company, it was a nightmare. I had a lot of damage because the guy did not do a good job.
Apparently, he thought he had shut the water off. He didn’t know it was a bad valve but he should’ve made sure that the water was shut off. At that time, the water was pooling underneath the dishwasher, but slowly so it wasn’t too bad. That was on Thursday but by Saturday, the whole back side of the kitchen into my family room was wet. The dishwasher was leaking worse than before the guy came. Now, I have damage to my cabinets and I had to tear out my carpets. People are coming to see if they have to pull them out to replace them but I know they’re gonna have to replace them. It’s a mess.
I was also really upset with American Home Shield. I called them when I found out that my carpet was getting wet. I started calling from Sunday at 7:00 until Tuesday. Nobody called me on Monday. Then when I finally got somebody who understood what was going on to send someone out, it was only to send an appliance guy that I didn’t need to tell me that I need a plumber. That was stupid. I kept telling them I needed a plumber. It was gonna take another day or two to get a plumber because I had to wait for this guy to come out to check it. That didn’t sit well with me. So now, I have all this damage and I had to put in a claim with my insurance company whereas, maybe some of this damage could’ve been prevented.
They didn’t even say sorry either. They had people come out to dry so I didn’t have full use of my kitchen. Then now, I’m probably not gonna have full use of my kitchen again. Somebody should have called me from American Home Shield and say, “Hey, I’m really sorry but here’s what we can do.” Even if they pay the contractor for my deductible, that would be something.

I’m happy with the service American Home Shield is providing. I have called the company four times for different issues and it’s always been a good experience. The website was super easy to navigate when filing a claim and for my air conditioning call, they said the contractor would come out within the next 24-hour. He came out in less than 24 hours and the service was good and very fast. I’m impressed with that because I have kids and those days were the hottest days of the week. But the air conditioner wasn’t cooling enough. It was just throwing regular temperature air. The guy from Absolute Heating and Cooling showed me that he really wanted to get things going in order to fix the problem so that we can have air conditioner at home promptly. The service helped a lot and the air conditioner is good now.

My washing machine had went out. There was a part that had broken on the dryer, and it wasn’t turning properly. I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. The lady I spoke to was acting like she didn’t see that it was covered, and I know that was because they fixed the problem before. She wasn’t being very helpful with that. But after we resolved it, it was fine. I guess she wasn’t looking in the right spot. I had explained to her four times. But with the contractor, One Appliance Repair, I’m gonna call them again. We ended up having a water leak on our AC and we got that repaired. We called American Home Shield but they didn’t cover the drain pan so we had it covered. We had to come out of pocket on our own on that one. However, the AC, once the drain pan was done, it wanted to keep running. So, we had to call them back out and that experience was really cool, too.
At one time, I called and talked to the representative for the drain pan. The other time, I did it online. Both times were good. The representatives did very well. The contractors were very professional. Both times, it was the same company. And both times they came out, they addressed the issue. On the final repair, they did everything they could and figured out the part we needed. They were very friendly as well. They cleaned up after themselves. And I just had my carpet shampooed and they were very nice enough to take off their shoes when they went upstairs. Overall, American Home Shield and the contractor were there when we needed them, and I couldn’t ask for a better first run.

One of my experiences with American Home Shield was good but the other one is bad. We called them about three months ago about a furnace and an air conditioner combined that was not working. They sent out a couple of people to look at it. Some of them came back but there was one that we never heard from again. We contacted the one that we did hear back from. The technician had seemed very polite and knowledgeable. He also did his job efficiently. He said that a part needed to be ordered and that it would come fairly quickly. But that was the last we heard of anybody.
He said the company would call to let us know the part was in and to make up an appointment for him to come install it. But that call was never received. Three months have gone by so we followed up. We contacted them twice last week. I called and I was told, conveniently, that the part was coming in that day. I was told the contractor would call me to set up an appointment. But we never received a call. I called the very next day and all of a sudden, they were like, "Oh that part hasn't come in yet."

I had a plumbing issue. The water would not drain in the basement. So we called American Home Shield, they sent out a contractor and found out that a part had been broken and so it was not allowing the tub to drain. So he left and said he had to order the part. A couple days later he came in and replaced the part, and it’s worked since. They were very responsive, both American Home Shield and the contractor they sent, so I was very satisfied. I've filed about five claims with AHS and the contractors that they've sent have been professional. They normally wear booties on their feet when they come in and then clean after themselves too.

90% of the time that I have to make a claim, I go online and do it. The other 10% might be calling on the phone if I wanna give American Home Shield some more details or if I have a question about coverage. It's easy. I made a claim when the compressor on the outside of the house wouldn't shut off when it would go on. The air conditioning works but the compressor would just keep spinning. Consolidated Mechanical was the contracted company and the technician who came out knew what he was doing. He wasn't very lackadaisical. I talked to him and I saw what he did. He found some kind of a circuit breaker and something there was burnt. He replaced that and the compressor was fine. It was pretty easy. I've stayed with American Home Shield for the last few years because they're good. Sometimes, you might ask, "Why do I gotta pay a $100 for this?" But all in all, you know what it's gonna cost you and 90% of the time, it's pretty much cut and dry.

I called American Home Shield on a Friday about my AC not working, and ice cube came out the following Tuesday. It was a pretty simple and straightforward process. They gave me a window when the technician was going to arrive from noon to 4:00 PM. What ended up happening was they called me at around 11:00. They said they were ready to come over. I said I'm still at work because they told me 12:00 to 4:00. So then, I went home. But it was fine. They ended up showing up at about 1:30. I told the tech what was wrong with the AC and what I had done to fix it already.
There were some fuses in the disconnect box that were bad, so the whole system wasn't even turning on. I thought it was maybe the fan motor or the capacitor, but neither one of those were bad. What I ended up doing was I paid American Home Shield $75 and it only cost like 20 bucks. The tech fixed it. It was a real simple repair. He was professional and friendly.
I would tell others that I have a home warranty company, American Home Shield, and once something breaks, it's covered. I'd call them and they'd come out and fix it. It's pretty simple and it's not like dealing with insurance where they question everything and they're like, "Why is it broken?" And they are reluctant to wanna fix it. That's why I like AHS. It works like I am paying for this service and there really wasn't any questions asked.

I've been with AHS since July of last year and submitting a claim was easy once I found the number. It was getting the number that kinda threw me off. But they sent somebody over very quickly when I had an issue. My situation was all cleared up within a week. Our issue was the dryer wasn’t working unless we pulled it away from the wall. And if it was pushed up against the wall, it would short and would turn off. When the contractor came in, he noticed that the electrical outlet was not secured in the wall. So, he tightened up the screws and put everything back, and we were able to push the dryer closer to the wall. Everything worked without problems. They were very nice, he was very concerned about our situation and I was really pleased with him. One other thing is that I expected to get contacted afterward to say, “you owe this much.” But I was never contacted again. So, everything went well. I was really happy.

I needed an AC tune-up for pre-season and I ended up having to call a representative at AHS to file my claim. Their website wouldn't take it online no matter how many different ways I tried, so I ended up calling it in to get that done. Other than that, my experience went well. The techs showed up on time and took care of the problem. They did a really good job, too and the AC has been running really well. The only thing that wasn't part of the service was draining it and I did that myself. I've got drip pans and it involved just taking the panels off and getting those out.
So far, AHS has been pretty nice. Filing the claim with them was quick and easy to do. It was unfortunate that the website wasn't working that time, but everybody experiences technical issues. I prefer to do it online though because for the most part, I knew what I was looking for, especially since they had banner ads for the service because it was a pre-season. I knew where to go. Also, it's usually quick for me to do it online, where if I call in, I may have to wait a little bit before I get someone and determine if I am in the right department or not. All in all, I would keep the warranty for the next five years just to get that break-in period kinda thing then I would have to see how things are on the house and see if I want to keep it.

I had a water heater failure and I made a call to American Home Shield. I told them what was going on and they got in contact with a local vendor. They came back to me and I arranged a schedule with them, so everything was simple. I had no problem at all with the rep and the interaction with the contractor went fine. We bought the home three and a half years ago and apparently, the water heater that failed was not installed to code. So, it cost us roughly $600 of out of pocket in addition to the AHS fee. That was unfortunate, but it is what it is and it wasn’t the fault of the contractor.
We got the policy right after we moved into our home and we’ve been with AHS for almost three years. This is the fourth claim that we’ve had and I have never had any issues. The others were all related to a couple of different plumbing issues, and the last one was a tree root going through our main sewer line going out to the street, which backed up everything into the basement. Since then, the repairs have been working fine. AHS has been working out well and I'm glad we've got the policy. The monthly fees we're paying and everything are what they are, but the cost of the new water heater alone probably covered almost everything that we've paid.
Good morning David,

I had a great interaction with the rep that I dealt with for the recall. I know it is part of the contract to fix the electrical, but American Home Shield won't do it. The problem is in the wall, but they won't pay to get into the wall. They won't pay for the access to the electrical. It is frustrating because the last lady that called to give me the bad news was awful. I asked her who I could call if I had questions and she said, "What's there to question?" I told her that maybe I have questions, and then she told me to just call customer service. Our AC is now fixed but I had a hard time. My air conditioner was failing and American Home Shield gave the contract to Airtronics, a third-party contract agency. The guy came up two days later, inspected and found that the compressor was going out. He said everything was taken care of and that I was covered. He said they would just order the compressor then he left the site. I was sitting tight, rest assured. He said that it would take a couple of days to arrive in their location and they would give a call to set up a new appointment to get the air conditioner fixed.
But I had not received anything after three days and that was why I had to call Airtronics. I asked what was happening with my compressor and I was told that I had to talk to Home Shield about it. I called Home Shield and I was told that on my account, it looked like I had to pay some money towards refrigerant and some missing part. I could not understand Home Shield’s policy though. How come the compressor isn’t still covered? There was something like because compressor was failing, the coolant got dirtier so there was like a chain reaction. But the cost was not covered so I had to pay for the refrigerant cost and some other part.
Only once I had paid did they go ahead and order the compressor. That was how I got delayed another five days. Nobody informed me that some action was required from my end either. I had to follow-up five times on why the status with Home Shield was different from the contract agency's. So it was a big time hassle for me. I got so frustrated that I had to tell Home Shield's representative that I was not happy with the insurance policy and I have to stop it if it is not useful. It was after five days and based on the weather condition that the contractor agency was going to come and install for me. The whole process took almost 10 days and I had no AC in my home for those last 10 days.
It's a long process because the contractor is a third-party agency. They need to coordinate with Home Shield then again, the consumer needs to coordinator with the third-party separately. I had to follow up every time after I initiated the online request for service. So there was no smooth process in this whole scenario. Home Shield should be on top of everything when they are providing service to the customer. But nobody cares about what’s happening in the process or what follow-up is required on what end.
There is no clear communication channel through email or messages. There was not a single notification email or message. There was nothing from Home Shield or the contractor agency. Basically, the person with this policy has to follow up every time. That is very inconvenient. Everything should be online, where everybody should be seeing the same page – whether the third-party, Home Shield or the consumer looks into it. But that is not happening in all this process.

Our furnace stopped working and we weren’t sure what was happening. The fan was on but no heat was coming out and it was still a little cold. So, we set up a claim with AHS. We did it online and they assigned Eagle Air to us. Their turnaround time was almost immediate. I was getting correspondence the next day, on Sunday, that someone would be calling me by Monday. And the tech called and came out on Monday.
It ended up being a filter issue. Everything else was checked out, but he explained to us that the filters that we were using were not the right size and that was causing the problem. It was a little bit of a waste of money for us because we had to pay the deductible, but for peace of mind, that was okay. He didn’t have to repair anything but he was very professional. He called ahead, let us know an ETA, confirmed all of the information, and showed up when he said he would. All in all, our experience with AHS has been good and compared to the company we used briefly before, this is a huge improvement.

We requested a pre-season check-up for our air conditioning unit online from American Home Shield. Their website was very easy to navigate and the contractors who came out were very nice. If they need to take care of an issue, they would come back out and they fix things. Thus far, we've had claims for our plumbing and our garage with them but then the latter wasn't covered. Still, I love AHS. They're easy to work with and I promote them to family members.

The service is great. The only thing is that it is hard to get through American Home Shield to get your appliances fixed. Communication is bad. But the people that they have that I’ve worked with was great, except for one company in Alabama. I have a claim for one of my rentals that have been open for over a year now. American Home Shield sent a repairman out. He diagnosed what was wrong with it, which he lied, tried to sell me a unit, and I refused. So, he let all of my Freon out. And the part he put on, he didn't hook it back up and told the company that I needed a new compressor. The company took his word for it, but they wouldn’t go back out and send someone to check to make sure that it was working.
It was around 100 degrees in Alabama, so I had my nephew and friend come out and put Freon back in it. They also hooked the part the tech refused to hook up, and it worked. And it is still working. But now, American Home Shield won’t even close the claim because they need to have the guy fix it. I them that it is working now, but they told me that they have to put a new compressor in.

It's generally pretty easy making a claim with American Home Shield, but I have noticed that different representatives would ask for different criteria. Some of them, if I give them my information, they would go ahead and let me do what I need to do as far as calling in the work order. But some of them would say that my boss Aris doesn’t have me on here so there was nothing they could do for me. I would then have to call back in and get another representative. They'd then go ahead and take care of me. Sometimes, the process isn't as consistent throughout the entire program.
It's also generally pretty easy dealing with AHS' contractors. We only have one company right now that we stopped using altogether which is AirDesign because we had issues. It was last year or maybe even 2017. But for the most part, I don’t have any issues with the contractors being able to get to our tenants pretty quickly. They usually keep me informed if they're unable to reach a tenant. They normally say they would give our tenant a call within 24 hours but usually, it's the same day like almost as soon as they receive the work order.
We've had some claims that have taken a little bit longer and the only holdup is normally the technician getting the information. The technicians would take a long time to get whatever diagnoses they have to the claims department or to the authorization department. I'll have to keep calling in. I would call American Home Shield asking if they have the information and they'd tell me no. They then either call the vendor or I'd call the vendor and tell them to call the information in because it had been like a week and we wanted to get the issue fixed. The technicians submit the information online through some sort of a quick system but a lot of times, it takes them a while to get that done.
American Home Shield usually does a good job and we don’t have to have a second opinion or call anybody back out. Right now, I have about 37 work orders with American Home Shield. I've been dealing with them for three years and the number of issues that I've had has been very minimal. When I'm buying a house, they’re who I would go with. I've also recommended them to people that I know that bought houses.

Sometimes it is hard to reach American Home Shield when I submit my phone over the phone, and if I do reach them, it is hard to understand some of the representatives. They don’t understand what I’m trying to ask or I don’t understand what they’re trying to tell me. It depends on who answers. The last contractor that they sent out was excellent. It took them a minute to get back with me after I sent the claim, but it worked out. The tech knew a lot and he knew what he was doing. After the service, everything has been good so far.
My very first experience with AHS was very frustrating because I explained to them everything that I needed. But when the contractor had to come back out, they charged me again versus when the person that came out said it was a part of the same issue. AHS don’t really listen to what you’re saying and you have to be really, really detailed with them. So, I try to prevent them from charging again. Also, sometimes I feel that they are more about the money aspect of it, just like somebody coming out collecting your co-pay or deposit.
For my recent claim, I initially called AHS and no one answered but it was during duty hours. I got the automated machine and I scheduled for someone to come out. But I was under the impression that they did not have my credit card information, and my account information is safe. AHS told me before that they didn’t have anything saved, so I didn’t understand how were they able to send it over to the request to have a contractor come over? And when I checked my account the following week, the money was taken out, but I never gave them any account information. So that concerned me.

My heater in the pool spa would be dead at the beginning of every year and I would have to call somebody out. They would tinker and get it to work and sometimes, it lasted the whole season, sometimes, it didn’t. I just had it redone now and so far, so good. The heater is 45 years old and it may be well-past its life expectancy. American Home Shield doesn’t wanna replace it. They said they could fix it but a fix shouldn’t be required for the same thing on an annual basis. The first and second time they fixed it, I said it was fine. On the third time, I said it should be replaced and they said no. They fixed it back together and it went out again. This time, on a conservative basis, it has been an annual deal for the last five years.
American Home Shield, for the longest of time, it was an excellent company. For the last couple of years, it got progressively worse where we had to hang on for as much as an hour in order to get us to somebody. And the level of customer service has been piss-poor. Also, what they cover has been ridiculous. We had a beef to do with them and we are ready to cancel American Home Shield and is still thinking about cancelling it. We had a water circulation pump on our unit in the house, and in order to operate it, you have a remote control portion. The pump works but the remote control portion went belly-up, and after fighting and going on, they denied it and I just gave up because my time is worth more than the money I had to spend to have a professional plumber who knew what he was doing to come in and fix it.
The quality of work of the contractors vary from mediocre to satisfactory, not outstanding. With the last guy that was out here on the pool, if he did everything he said he did, then he gets a higher grade, but prior to that for the last number of years, the level has been barely satisfactory. We had somebody out here who had to work on a toilet, and the net result was he screwed it up, and I had to have a contractor come in to take care of it. I am a very unhappy consumer.
I apologize for the inconvenience Arthur. I hate that we did not resolve your pool issue. I just sent you an email as I would like to speak with you more about your experience.

I had an issue with my oven and I submitted a claim for it to American Home Shield. It took weeks to get the part and I wasn't happy about that. It was five to six weeks before the job was completed. Furthermore, there was somebody in their office who was not customer-friendly. That person would say "The part's not in. We'll call you when it's in". I wasn't really happy with that.
Sometimes, I'm a little disgusted with American Home Shield. I'm less than pleased with them. The premium and the $75 service fee that's on top of it, hit me within a few days of each other. I just made the payment for my premium and then I had to turn around and give them $75 again before their technician would come out. It was a lot of money at the time. Also, I had a service I needed which I didn't go through them for. My faucet head needed to be replaced before a new washing machine could be hooked up. However, I figured that what I was gonna hear from AHS would be that they were not gonna cover it because the faucet head was never updated. That policy turns me off. I had never replaced my faucets so I never bothered to go through AHS.
Additionally, I have a microwave right that they won't cover because something wasn't updated in it. It's a built-in microwave, and they won't cover it. So I ended up going out, buying a little tabletop microwave. Still, for the replacement of my garbage disposal, I called in, requested service and AHS's contractor came out fairly quickly. I got a new garbage disposal and that was taken care of without any problems. Overall, AHS has been okay and I have not done a whole lot out of pocket thus far.

It’s been over 13 years now that I've been with American Home Shield and I’ve had at least one claim in each of those years. Out of those 13 claims, I would say 9 were satisfactory and 4 were not. And of those 4, those were usually associated with the contractor. There was an issue with the heating unit one winter and when the contractor came out, they discovered that it was a part. But you have to wait on the part then you have to reschedule a follow-up visit. So there were three or four missed opportunities because we couldn’t get our schedules to synchronize. The repair took almost two weeks to get done and that was in the wintertime.
Then there was another claim where the contractor came out and decided the real issue was some other component. That required me to go back to American Home Shield and set up another appointment through another contractor. Then when that contractor came out, he said it was not his issue either. One of the things I would like to see offered is the chance to select more than just one contractor. Usually, American Home Shield goes with whoever but if I've had a bad experience with a contractor and I have an issue with the same item, I’m gonna resort to having that same contractor come again. But if it’s an HVAC unit and I’ve got three contractors I can select from, I get a chance to improve my experience if I’ve had a bad experience.
On the other hand, one positive experience I've had was when we had an issue with one of the toilets. The plumber who came out was very friendly and personable. He saw what the issue was and fixed that. Then he said it looked like some part may cause an issue later and he went ahead and repaired that as well, rather than let the issue linger and then I would have to call them back later. So I was very impressed with that.
Then the most recent claim was the pre-season checkup on the air conditioning unit. I have an upstairs and downstairs unit so there are two but when the technician showed up, he said he could only check one because that was how the request was submitted. I did it online and it doesn’t allow you to specify whether you have one or two units. So what I found is that it’s best to talk to someone and call a claim in because then you can give them additional details that you cannot do online. When you do the online submission, you also get a confirmation email back from American Home Shield that specifies who the contractor is. Then you’ll hear from them. For this claim, I heard from that contractor within 24 hours. It was one that I’m familiar with and it was good dealing with them. They come out each year if I have an issue with the AC unit.

I had a problem with my icemaker and American Home Shield contacted Appliance Connection. They sent out a tech who was so nice and helpful. I was very pleased with him. But when I first talked to him on the phone, I was a little bit apprehensive. He was a little tentative, but once he got here, we were just fine and he fixed the problem. He had to replace a part of the icemaker and when he showed me what it was, it was pretty obvious. I also have another problem which is a noise that the refrigerator has been making. It would sometimes coo like a dove, which normally to an old Southern boy would be relaxing, but sometimes it’s not. In defense of the tech though, he couldn’t fix it because we couldn’t duplicate or replicate the sound. It's an intermittent problem and we could not make it happen at the time.
Other than that, as far as my dealings with American Home Shield, I have nothing but good things to say. When I first started with them, a few people said I should not have done that because of what they heard. But nobody would tell me what they had heard exactly. Personally, I haven't even heard anything bad yet and I hope I never do. The plan that I have is the one with the $100 service fee and right now, I'm happy with AHS. They had Heritage Air and Heat come up for my recent claim. There was a switch up in the attic that had been thrown off that prevented the system from working. It's big and a lot of things just go wrong with it. Whatever I can do, I can fix myself. But when it comes to air conditioners and some of those other stuff, a smart man knows his limitations. So far, AHS is really good. It's the first time we've ever had a home warranty program and you always hear bad stories about it from people. But I always wait and find out myself. I don't pay any attention to people when they do that stuff. I'm sure they mean well but that doesn't mean that's gonna happen to me.
Recently, we noticed that our air conditioner wasn't turning outside and when we looked at it, the fan was bent. At the time, we forgot we had the plan with AHS and we called our regular guy out. He told us that if he have a plan, we need to take it up with the company. He also said that the motor looked like it had oil coming out of it, so the motor had probably gone bad. So, we called AHS about it and they assigned A-US Air Conditioning of Texas to our claim. The tech got out here in a timely manner, within a day or two afterwards, and he was fabulous. He replaced the motor and did a little check-up. Since then, we've had no problem at all. I'm hoping we get him again if we ever have a problem again because he really knew what he was doing and was very helpful to us.

So, we keep it for the meat and when Thanksgiving comes around, we use that to feed the homeless. When the contractor came out the first time, the guy left and he said it was freezing. So, they turned the freezer on and put everything back in it. Two weeks later, we opened the freezer and all of the stuff was thawed out. So, I called the contractor back out. They said it needed a compressor. They came out and put that. When I asked if it was already okay, they said everything was freezing.
Before yesterday, the contractor came out. I opened the door and everything has defrosted. I told my wife that the contractor told me they fixed it but it wasn't and so, we lost a whole lot of more food in it. I had to clean it back out. I told AHS that I didn't want this contractor to come out any more because they don't do that good a job but they sent them back out again. AHS sent someone out yesterday and it's supposed to be fixed. He said he couldn’t guarantee it because it's an old freezer. If they couldn’t guarantee and they couldn’t fix it, they should let me know whether it needs to be replaced. I keep on spending money by replacing the food that I keep losing. I told my wife that we're gonna have to check every day and make sure it's still freezing because they told us that last time.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

American Home Shield is still trying to get my AC fixed. The contractor found out that the circuit board was not good. So he replaced it but the circuit board he replaced it with was not good as well. Now he is getting another circuit board. It has been over a week since we started with the service and today will be the fifth or sixth call to have the contractor come out. The AC is cooling, but it is not cooling correctly.
When I called American Home Shield the other day to tell them that something was still not right, they asked me if I wanted them to send another company. I told them that no and I’m fine with the current company. The contractors have been very helpful and very apologetic. I haven’t lost my complete faith in them yet. But if they don’t fix it today, then I’ll be calling American Home Shield.

My AC/furnace completely lost power about two weeks ago. I called American Home Shield and the contractor came out and fixed something but the issue happened again for several days recently. So, the contractor came out again, and it was great service. The tech was here on time, and he was very friendly. He replaced the control board and then left. He did a good job. It is working great since he left.

After making an online service request, which was very easy, an AHS contractor was out within 24 hours for our air conditioner that was not cooling anything down. Kemph Heating and Air Conditioning was our designated contractor for the claim and they were over the top. I didn't have any high expectations just because in my past experience, people who do HVAC work were just always so busy. We’ve had some bad experiences with others. But Kemph came out quickly. They were friendly, cleaned up after themselves, and got the task done. If everybody worked that well, the world would be a better place. They were incredible. Our air conditioner is stellar and working fine.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was very good. The first time, I did it through the phone. It was quick. But the second time, I did it online and it worked very well. Once I submitted online, after a few hours, I got the appointment for the technician. It was for the next day, so everything was really quick. Both of the times, the claims were for our AC. I got the same contractor and the same technician. He fixed the problem and my experience was positive. I like it a lot and I’m happy.

The AC/heating unit broke down. AHS had to get the folks to come out and work on it then, they had to order some parts. It took a little bit long for them to get the parts and that was two weeks ago when the unit broke. They said they would have the parts and be back last week. When we called them, they said they didn't have the parts in. But when the person called me back, we were told that they did have the parts. It was just that they hadn't called me yet. I can understand that things get mixed up but when you're without air, it kinda puts you on a bind for two weeks. At any rate, the guy came back out and fixed it. The unit is working well now and everything is good. Hopefully, it will still be because I know it's gonna be extremely hot this weekend.
We've also had a couple different companies come out. One company had two guys come out and they were here for two different days. The first day they were supposed to be here in the early afternoon and it was 6:00 when they came. Then, they said they couldn't fix the problem which was in the upstairs air unit. So, they had to come back and they said they'd be back the next day. They said that they needed to cut something but since they went up in our attic, I had a friend of mine come over here to double-check and he said that they didn't need to cut anything.
When the techs came back at night again, it was a real inconvenience because they didn't tell me the correct times they were coming. They said they'd be here before 4:00 and it was 6:30 when they arrived. It messed me up because I had to take off work to be here and wait for them, so I spent a whole afternoon off where I could've been at work. I talked to them and told them about what my friend said and they said that the only way they could replace something was to cut part of my beams up in my attic, and they did. They did a temp fix which I don't think was the right thing to do because that might have messed up the structural integrity for the upstairs. But I did stress to whomever I talked to when I recently needed somebody out that I didn't want those people coming back. They had a plain van and they didn't introduce themselves. They didn't have IDs either and I didn't like them from the get-go.
But this other outfit that AHS sent out, they have been coming from Carthage and they've sent three different guys out who have all been very informative. They put little things on their feet when they came in and they've been very nice. They also explained everything in detail, unlike those two guys that worked with that other company. They've been really good and I've really been pleased with them. I know it took them a little while to get the part in for my last claim, but I understood because they didn't keep those certain parts in stock and it wasn't one that you could use on various units. It had to be a name brand because of that type of unit. Our unit is a Trane and it had to be a Trane part, so they had to special order it.
Other than that, we've been happy with the service. The delay on the parts was not AHS' fault and they were sticking by what they were gonna do. They were getting people here and would contact them. They may have fell short with the first people that they sent out here but you're always gonna have someone out there who isn't gonna be as good as others. We've also had to use the warranty not long after we bought the house.and it has really helped us. It has saved us some money as well and I'm praying that nothing else will happen. But we feel safe that the warranty is there to help us if we need it. As a matter of fact, we referred my sister to AHS and she just got a thing through them.

American Home Shield is pretty good. I've used them several times and each time, I had no problem. I do my claims by phone because sometimes I like to ask questions. I like to talk to a live person just in case I have a question. When I did, their reps answered them. It's been an easy process. AHS would have somebody out in a day or two. My experience so far has been pretty good. When we were having a leak on the bottom of our air conditioning unit, AHS sent out South Cooling. They came out and said it was the pipes that were leaking so they put some new pipes in and sealed it. It was like good as new. Mostly everybody who AHS sent out has been professional. They come out, tell me what they're going to do, and do what they need to do. They then sign off on the work order that they have and give me a receipt.

The faucet in the shower broke and submitting the claim online was extremely easy. The representatives were nice and they were professional when they arrived at my house. I have no complaints. This was the third claim I’ve made with American Home Shield. The only good experience I’ve had with the contractors was for my washer repair. Billy’s came out and did the repair. They didn't try to say they needed to modify this or that. My air handler was a totally different experience. I ended up going out on my own and getting another company to replace it at a more costly repair. It was the same thing for my shower.
My house is 14 years old and it isn’t a very old house. The companies are always saying they have to modify the hot and cold water. That’s just an assumption. They told me that it was $400 out of my pocket. I called and got the cash offer, which was $140. It cost $100 for the part, just to replace the faucet because I’ve already priced the part and I already had an estimate before they came out. That total estimate wasn’t even $400 for the repair. Some of the contractors know the contract language and they know what American Home Shield will reimburse them, so they come up with these modifications to carve out a payment that the customer has to pay, which is unnecessary. If it was a 30-year-old house, a modification would need to be done. Also, another plumbing service that came out told me that a modification does not have to be done. AHS contractors are taking advantage of the customer.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

I had a garbage disposal that apparently was leaking. Submitting the claim for it with American Home Shield was straightforward. The representative was effective and got the plumbing company to come out expediently. They called me that same day to set up an appointment, which was awesome. But then, they took a day or two to come out. Dillon was the guy who came out and he was absolutely awesome. When he was here and he installed the garbage disposal, the switch that turns on my garbage disposal broke. So, I called American Home Shield and they said, “Okay, we’ll send some electrician out.” And that’s been two weeks ago. I’ve been a customer for about three years now and I haven’t had any issues, and I appreciate this service. I just have the issue with having someone waiting at least two weeks now for an electrician to come out.

I've been with American Home Shield for two years and their reps have always been very good. I called them when I was in need of a drain cleaning service as my sewer was clogged. The people that work for American Home Shield are always very helpful and they seem to be very efficient. They seem to keep good records too and they’re fairly prompt.
Both technicians who came did fairly well. The sewer line seems to be totally cleaned out and fixed. We also had a line running from the kitchen drain that was being slow but it wasn’t totally clogged up. I had it done before so I know when it slows down and is about to be clogged. While the technicians were here, they did both of the lines. But the kitchen sink one is starting to slow down again. It’s not been very long since the technicians were here so maybe they didn’t get quite everything. Those were two separate lines. One guy did the kitchen sink line and a different guy did the main sewer line. I’m thinking about making a follow-up call. They may have gotten it partly undone which then makes the water go faster. But there’s something else there. When we had it done in the past, it went over a year before it slowed down. But this time, it's 10 days later or two weeks later. That’s not so great.
I’ve also had some other technicians that AHS sent out that I wasn’t happy with. I had trouble when I had issues with the air conditioning. AHS sent somebody that I had to call in about repeatedly. They were a no-show three times. I had to keep saying I was done with them and I needed a new person. Finally, AHS gave me somebody else. They came an hour later and were wonderful.
American Home Shield has done a good job for us. The only disappointment I had with them was that our contract entitled us to a rekey, but when we called in to get that done, they didn’t have a locksmith in our area. They said that that was just a problem with the State of Illinois because the State of Illinois required all of these things in order to be licensed and American Home Shield wasn't able to get anybody that was licensed to come out. They told me that they had been working on it long-range for our town. That was disappointing. Everything else has been really wonderful, though.

American Home Shield is great and the plan is wonderful. I thank God for them because we wouldn't have been able to afford some of the repairs that we've had over the years. So, they have truly been a blessing. I've been with American Home Shield for 16 years and I tell everybody about them. I recently made a claim for my refrigerator, dishwasher, and dryer. Sears came out and they did a great job. It took three weeks to finish because I live in the middle of nowhere, so they only service here once a week.
They had to order a part for my dishwasher, and the gentleman had fixed my refrigerator, but when he left I had a hose blow on it, so I ended up having to call. When they came back out, they had the part for my dishwasher and dryer, and then he had to do what he could to my refrigerator and order a part for it. We had to wait another week for the refrigerator. But it wasn't a problem. I was pleased with everything all-around. Everything was taken care of.

I like to submit claims to AHS online. But sometimes, I have to get someone on the phone because I don't have the ability online to be specific about certain things. Also, my experiences when speaking to their reps have been mixed. Sometimes, their reps are great and other times, they struggle a little bit. Still, most of their contractors have been courteous, polite and professional. Most of the time, they're on time and I would have no problem.
However, a contractor has been to my house three times because he can't fix my dishwasher. Now, they have my dishwasher at their shop. AHS tells me that if their contractor can't fix it, they would replace it so I want to see how long they would let this issue going on. A month is long enough to go without a dishwasher and after three service calls, their contractor can't fix mine. While AHS sends a text or an email with a survey about their service, that's impersonal. They could make return calls to improve their service. That way, they can get more details and it's gonna seem like they care more that my problem is solved.

Nobody wants to go into a new home having to need their warranty this soon. We’ve only been in this house for almost three months but we were thankful that, since the issue was the air conditioner, American Home Shield was really fast in getting somebody out there to help. Our only complaint is that they had a couple of our information wrong and that almost cost us the warranty. Somehow, they had the wrong domain in our email and then the wrong street name for our address. But they figured out that they were mistaken and they corrected it so we’re good now.
We were given a timeframe for the service and the contractor from Cabot Mechanical was great. He answered all of our questions and he was quick. He even gave my husband a couple of tips to things that he could do on his own so that we wouldn’t have to pay him to do it. He was very helpful. He found the leak, fixed it and refilled the Freon. The AC was working for about a week or two but then it started getting warm again. But they’re coming out today to look at it again. They called yesterday and told us that they would be some time between 1:00 and 3:00 today.

We were trying to sell the house, and the buyer got it inspected. They said that the air conditioner unit was low on Freon, and there were a lot of issues with the unit. We contacted AHS and Comfort Heating and Air came around. The rep patched us through where we needed, and helped us out. The technician came out there and went through the history of the unit. He even was able to reference the house years back. We found that the person who the buyer brought didn't do a good inspection.
The tech walked us through the whole system inspection and said, “Listen. They didn't do an inspection because if they would have done an inspection, this was what they would have found.” They would have found that the system actually has good Freon, not the Freon that they told that the system was supposed to have. So, it was as good thing because we were able to save about $10,000. We are glad that we have the service that we have with AHS and we recommended them.

Then one of the ovens stopped working properly and there was a problem with the burner, one was with the strikers and the other one was with a gasket. I submitted a claim online with AHS and my experience was good. Each one of those things was remedied quickly. David from Chaney Appliance Repair came out and he did multiple repairs all on one claim. So far, everything's working fine and I haven't had any issues since. He was amazing and very professional. I would recommend him.
Right now, I have another claim because I have a spa heater that is now not working or leaking. They assigned it immediately but the contractor, AAA Pool Service, didn't answer for three days. I finally got him on the phone and he informed me that he didn't work on spa heaters and I needed to find a different vendor. I called American Home Shield, stayed on the phone with the lady, and she was very good about trying to track it down and said she would let me know if they could find a vendor or if I needed to have a outside authorization.
Until now, I have not heard back on that and that’s been since Friday. As a matter of fact, I called American Home Shield this morning to try to find out what was going on. But I had to get off the phone real quick, so I didn't get a chance to wait to see what is the deal and what am I gonna need to do to get this done before it turns into a cesspool that has to be completely redone. If this gets remedied quickly and efficiently, that would be great. But it hasn’t been quick and I’m still waiting on an answer.

I wouldn't see it because unless we say stop, they're gonna keep going.
My most recent claim was a continuing repair on a washing machine and dryer. That was a couple of days ago and that was the third visit because the contractor had to order parts. But we got the same guy each time so I didn't have to explain everything all over again and Ulysses, the fellow from Accord Appliance, was really straightforward. He was a great tech – very polite and professional young man. They were able to repair the dryer and see the fault. Since the last repair, the dryer has been drying as expected and the washer seems to no longer have a missing feature on it after the circuit boards were replaced. I also had an inspection of the refrigerator and they've asked us to take a step and call them back if the issue if still present.

American Home Shield referred me to a plumber who came out to my house. There were two toilets and two bathtubs on the ticket. With the two toilets, the plumber said he fixed them. And he couldn’t fix one of the bathtubs because it wasn’t covered. I called back two days later because one of the toilets wasn’t fixed. And he had told me he replaced the guts on those toilets. The point is when you have a toilet that’s running all day right after the plumber’s there, you call the plumber back and say, “Hey, whatever you did didn’t fix the problem. I don’t need to be charged another hundred-dollar service fee. The person's response to me when I called them back two days later was, “Well the plumber that was already at your house is fired. He no longer works here. And we’ll have to get somebody else to come back out.”
She set another appointment. I took another day off work. But nobody showed up and I couldn’t get anybody on the phone. And then when I finally got somebody on the phone the next day, she told me that she’d send somebody back out on the next Friday, which, again, never happened. So for two times, I sat home and took a day off work. I work an hour away from my house so I can’t just take a four-hour window and hop in whenever I want to work.
Not only were they unprofessional and didn’t fix the issue, they set appointments and never showed up, and do not even create any resolution to the problem. And then I had the owner calling me and texting me back and forth and saying, “Well you could have just told me.” And then he wanted to tell me through the text message that whatever the problem is, it’s not covered. He wanted to diagnose it through a text message. I just stopped. Now I know why this plumbing company has an F rating. And I’m trying to figure out why my warranty company that I pay would have me work with a plumber that has an F rating and all these complaints.
When I warned American Home Shield, they said that the only plumber that they’re gonna be able to send back to my house is the idiot that didn’t do the job the first time that I can’t get anywhere with. So at that point, it feels like AHS have half-** contracts with half-** plumbers that rely on those half-** contracts. So they don’t care. I paid AHS to make my life easier, not make it harder. They had absolutely no suggestions or a fix of any kind. When I called them and told them what I was going through with the plumbers, sorry was all they got for me. If that’s what they have then I don’t need it. I’ll go find my own damn plumbers. I’ll go find my own contractors. So now that I’ve actually used the warranty, it sucks!
I hate to hear that we have were not able to resolve your plumbing issues. I just emailed you in an effort to resolve your concerns.

The claims submission process with American Home Shield was pretty simple. My wife put in the claim online and then we were supposed to receive a call from the first contractor's support person. But the lady wasn’t responsive and we ended up having to call her. A few days before the first person came out, we had some storms and the lady was saying that our water heater issue was caused by the storm. But how could all this corrosion be caused over a weekend? So we got a second opinion. The guy came out today and said that was silly. So this second guy was awesome. I knew American Home Shield contracts out some of the services and other than my entire family taking cold showers or just putting deodorant on since last Saturday, it’s been a good experience.
The only negative has been that although the contractors' support folks were responsive when we called them, they were not proactive. We ended up having to call the second plumber as well. But that aside, he was very professional and personable. He opened a couple of things up but he didn’t really make a mess. Then he said we would need a new water heater but he's gonna go make some phone calls and get back with us.

Then, finally, when I got through to them, it was a long time before they could get somebody out because it was summer out here. They didn't have somebody out to come for another 10 days. I had to call someone else and I had to go to a hotel until I got somebody out there. I live in Vegas and we have 24-hour emergency service out here. We've used American Home Shield for several years, and the service has been generally acceptable. However, they dispatched an HVAC contractor on 5/9/19 to deal with an error message that was appearing on our thermostat, and we were told that our compressor was "fried" and needed to be replaced. I asked the technician if the new compressor would be an OEM compressor (Carrier) and was assured that was the case.
Accordingly, I wrote on the service ticket that an "OEM compressor" would be used before signing it. The next morning, at 6:30 a.m., the owner of the service company called to say that he was not coming back because his technician had been disrespected. Whatever, I called American Home Shield who sent out a new HVAC contractor, who found nothing wrong with the compressor, adding that it "had been disabled". He turned it back on, and it's been working perfectly ever since. A message to American Home Shield: this is FRAUD. Even though your likely response will be apologetic and a recital of how you have high service standards, the ONLY ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE from you is removal of the fraudulent contractor from your system.

I have used AHS for 3 years at a cost of $80 dollars a month. In that time I have only used their service 3 times and all 3 times was a horrible experience. They keep you on hold for long periods of time 30 mins or more. They then are rude if you have questions. Then when they send someone out it cost you another $75 and 2 out of 3 times gave me a reason they could or would not cover the cost so then would have to pay $100s more out of pocket. Then I had to call 3 different times to try and get my service with them canceled but just keep getting put on hold, as of now still work on canceling AHS. I can put the 80 a month in an account and have the money when need vs giving it to them and then having to pay for the work myself anyway.

I've been an AHS customer for 9 years, actually longer than that. I've been with them to stints. I RARELY have a claim. I've had my pool heater for 15 years. First pool company came out, took pictures and said the heater was bad and corroded. Needed replaced. 2nd pool (second opinion) company came out, was here maybe 5 minutes, took pictures, said it was shot and needed replaced. I get a phone call today from AHS denying my claim, saying it was because of "water damage" or "rising water" - My yard and my home have never flooded, not even close and I went through Hurricane Harvey. I spoke to the pool company who made the second assessment and they did not say it flooded. So, someone is not telling the truth here. Now, they want to charge me $2800 for a new heater? This is ridiculous.

I have been an AHS customer for a few years. I have had my HVAC worked on several times in the last few years. Each time I need a repair, a different company does the severvice so there is no accountability or warranty for the service provider. I had a new HVAC coil replaced in Nov 2017. The AC was not working on April 11, 2019, so I sent a service request immediately. It took 10 days for someone to diagnose the unit and determine that the coil was leaking. Today - 5/10/19 (29 days after I was assigned someone for service) they said they will repair it and not replace. I must now wait 5 more days. 5 weeks without Air Conditioning!!! I spent over a $1000.00 for the coil replacement and freon in 2017. Now, I will have to pay for freon again. They apparently buy cheap parts and work with substandard service providers.

This company is not for the working man. I was assigned this company through my home warranty (American Home Shield) which could be a contributing factor for the poor service. True Air Solution I received a message stating "Your technician will arrive between 7:00 am - 2:00 pm". When I questioned a 7 hour time frame I was told...yes 7 hours. Even though I felt this was unreal I took off work to accommodate their unreasonable request.
After several call to verify the technician is still coming each time the representative confirmed the technician will arrive by 2:00. At 1:40 no technician. Finally I got a call from a representative of TrueAir Solutions stating the technician would be arriving in another 2 hours. Called AHS spoke with Joy to see it I could get another company since it is clear this company is not dependable. Joy stated I have no other option. Asked to speak with a supervisor put on hold for over 25 minutes. Joy came back and stated I have no other option. Wow! I missed an entire day of work. This company is not for the working class. Really what working household can take off an entire work to meet with an AC contractor that cannot show within 7 hours. I can't afford nor will I do business with this company again. AHS you should consider doing the same.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

I had a home warranty with this company for 2 years. We had the major systems warranty which is supposed to cover water heater, HVAC, etc. I called about our water heater leaking and needing to be replaced. They wanted to charge an additional $1,200 to replace it, when that's the typical cost if I were to hire someone to do it w/o a home warranty. I decided to take the pay out and they only wanted to give me $280 and take an additional $75 "service fee" even AFTER I paid the $107 (plus my monthly fees) to have technicians come out!!! When I spoke with the supervisor, Joey **, he refused to help me and they took the $75. When I requested to cancel they charged me ANOTHER $40!! I work in real estate and this is one of the WORST home warranty experiences I've had. I will not recommend this company to any clients, nor will I be using this company and I encourage everyone to do the same.

I have had several plumbing claims with American Home Shield and one of them was a broken faucet. The contractor came out and replaced the faucet. After he left, when my wife was using it that night, it started the banging. So, we called back the next day and the contractor came back out. When he put the faucet in, he might’ve damaged something, but they took care of it.
The second one turned out to be the tankless water heater. It would stop, and he said the problem was that it needed a good cleaning, and it’s a descaling. I understand that I have to pay for that because AHS don’t do maintenance so, I didn’t file it. I wanted to do it but the guy said that AHS probably won’t do it since that’s maintenance. I was pretty upset with AHS for a good while and I was thinking about getting rid of them. Right now, a sewage line broke and I’m having the entire bottom floor in my house replaced because of that. So, AHS should be handling that but their people said that they don’t do that. It’s disappointing.
I have done both phone and online when filing a claim but most of the time, it’s online. It’s simple but it doesn’t allow you to elaborate anything. It will say you have a plumbing problem and then it has a list of the areas, which doesn’t say much. I used to have a different company and I liked it because they had a little area where you could say something and you could explain things. Sometimes, it’s nice to give some people heads up. Otherwise, everything has been fine. The people who came out were nice but I had such a sour experience when I was going through this. The contractors had to come out three times. I didn’t mind people coming out and doing more things, but it bothered me that I had to pay $100 every time they came out.

I was having problems with one of my toilets, and I called American Home Shield and they put in the request. I paid the deductible and the contractor was here the next day. And they did the repairs and they were on their way. Everything has been working perfectly since. It was a very easy process and I was very happy with that. I can file my claims with American Home Shield online, but I prefer to talk to someone. And when I called, the AHS representatives have been very responsive and their customer service has been very good.
My only thing was that the appointment with the plumber to come see me was kinda set up with American Home Shield versus him contacting me. And he called me and said, “Hey, I’m at your house to do your repairs.” I’m like, “What? I didn’t know you were coming.” So, I think he just jumped on it really quick. And then American Home Shield reached out to me and said the plumber was trying to reach me and I got in touch with them. AHS should make sure that the vendor or the service company gets in touch me first prior to coming. But they were great other than that.

We had a claim for the water leak in the wall a couple of months ago and the plumber could improve and clean up his mess. It was all clean when renovations came out to take an estimate. They cleaned everything spotless but when the plumber left, it was a mess. We had to clean it up. So, AHS have to tell their contractors to clean up the mess. On the other hand, the restoration company exceeded my expectations. They were excellent. Recently, the contractor, Crispy Air & Heating came out and fixed things very quickly. My air conditioning unit was working but not at full capacity. I called AHS' 800 number and got through a recording. Then they called me back and set up an appointment. The contractor had someone come out and look at it, then told us what repairs needed to be done. The tech was professional and great. He came on Saturday and I thought they didn't work on Saturdays. He was even ahead of schedule, which was good because sometimes, you wait for service people to come all day waiting and you’re stuck at home but you can’t do anything. The warranty covered almost $3,000, but we still had to pay $1,600. So, a lot was not covered.
But since the repair, I had no problems at all with the AC. Everything has been good. Although, I’m still waiting for the invoice from the contractor. I never got a copy of it and I'd like to keep on my records what they did to my air conditioner. I called them and they said they'd send me a copy but this has been three weeks ago and I still have not received it.

I’ve got a recent claim with American Home Shield for the garage door opener and they’re working through that right now. It’s standard stuff. I filed the claim online and the process is quite easy. But their website asked for the model number per se and if there was a way to actually post the picture, that would be better. Sometimes the model number is not very fairly visible and you don’t know which one’s the model number or the serial number. And sometimes it’s just better to post a picture and the contractor could then pull that up and tell the client about the problem.
They could also provide a little bit of explanation about the issue when their representative is trying to set up the first appointment. I found that it’s better to let them know what I think is the problem and if they had the pictures in front of them at that point, they’ll know if they could order that part or if that part’s gonna take a week to order. Because what’s happening is they come out to take a look at the thing and that's an issue with people like me who have a day job and have to go out. They give you a four-hour window but they call you 30 minutes in advance.
For this claim, I got a window open and I got there, then they came out and told me what they needed to do. But that was what I told their rep and I even offered to put up the pictures. He, however, said that they got parts on the truck. Still, when they first came out, they said they didn't have the part. If the system allowed them to do that a little better, it would help reduce their overhead just coming in, looking at it, ordering the part, then coming out and trying to fix it again. This will reduce their trips out in half if they knew what they were doing.
On my first ever service call which was in our different home, the contractors came out four times to fix the issue because it was an older refrigerator and every time, they went through the steps. But it took me four times to come out of my work and be there for about half an hour. And I don’t think any of the contractor right off the street would have done any better just because they would have to go through the same steps.
Other than that, the price should be kept constant by AHS. I like the peace of mind aspect of it if I know what my fixed cost is gonna be. Now, I have to tend minor stuff here and there, and they’ve all been fixable so I haven't had the problem of something not being covered. But I have heard stories from others. Besides that, the contractors are very nice and very professional. They came out and they said they were gonna order the part. Three days later, we set up the appointment from the original day as they said that the parts should be in and they should come out. The morning after, they called me and said the part was not there yet. So, we rescheduled it. Today, they’re gonna come out again from Tuesday. But they haven’t called me yet, so I’m assuming everything is still okay.

We weren't getting any hot water from the heater. I submitted a claim online with AHS and they were good about getting back to me. I heard from them within 24 hours. They charged me $75 and they sent a plumber out who didn't know his head from the pipes that he was needing to look at. He said that he was gonna have to get into the walls and I'm a single homeowner, so I had to wait until my schedule freed up so I could be at home for that, which took forever. Finally, I submitted again for another $75 and got somebody who knew what they were doing. This time, AHS sent out a tech from Fabio Plumbing. We used them before, had them come out for other things, and they've been really excellent. It was a couple of weeks before we got the approval for the replacement then we got the new hot water tank. Since then, the water heater has been working amazingly.
When the time comes for the renewal of my contract with AHS, I would renew with them. They are a pretty decent company though they can't always control the people they send out if they're good or not. With the first person that they sent out for my water heater claim, I wrote a little bit of feedback and didn't hear back. Nor did I hear anybody saying that they'd give me my $75 back and it would have been nice if they had gone out of their way about that.

My oven was turning on, and then it would shut down and turn off. The motherboard was not working. I called American Home Shield but the claim was neglected for a month and a half prior and the last rep that I talked to was the most helpful because. They had a company come out from Slidell, Louisiana. They came, looked at my oven, and they ordered the part. After that, they never called me. We don’t know what happened, but they never answered me or American Home Shield for one month. So, I was not cooking for my four kids for one month with the oven. We were wasting money eating out, and I’m not the type of mom to even feed my kids fast food on a Friday.
Things happen and take time, but the claim was just neglected until I called again and asked American Home Shield to change the person that came out and looked at it. So, they did and then the people that did install it were amazing. They were very nice, very efficient, and they cared about their business because they got the job done. Everything is perfect. I like the oven. We paid for an upcharge because I did not like the black-and-white that came, and it's fine. Everything worked out in the end. I’m totally satisfied. Updated on 07/06/2019: I have used AHS for the past 11 years and was a happy customer but recently something has changed in how the company is managed & operates. You will spend endless hours on the phone trying to arrange appointments for service. Each service visit the cheapest possible option will be done leading to many visits for one issue to be resolved. You will talk to the overseas call center agents who are very sweet but don't have the clearance to make decisions, there's never a Supervisor to talk to & there's no chance of speaking to anybody in the USA. This is how pure frustration is caused for the customer & your time is wasted, many hours not just minutes.
I had a big water leak that classified needing an urgent response. AHS seems to be in cahoots with the companies they use. The job will get fixed but AHS will pay a tiny tiny portion and you will be left to pay the rest but this will not be explained until after the work is done. Which is very deceiving and leaves you feeling stupid that you could be manipulated so badly. Fortunately I had read lots of recent reviews about AHS and they explained a similar story to mine so I was ready. AHS offered to cover $130 of the $7800 work needed. I did not use AHS for my leak, I used an independent local company who were excellent and everything was repaired & put back to perfect condition for $5200 and it only took 3 days.
I have since cancelled both my AHS warranties. A month later I am still waiting for the refund check which takes 14-21 days to receive. So you guessed it, I just got off the phone with the overseas call center to see what the problem is. I also got an email saying I could be sent to collections if my fee for a cancelled policy isn't paid... The farce continues. Find a different home warranty company for your sanity.
Original Review: There was a leak through the kitchen ceiling and the one that American Home Shield assigned was Live Green. The plumber came out and he was a very nice guy. He thought it could be the toilet seal, the wax ring, so he replaced that. Sadly, that wasn't the cause because then the leak got progressively worse. So we arranged another appointment. But somehow, that appointment didn’t get written down and the technician never showed up. So then we had to wait another four days for another appointment.
We got confirmation and I called the same day. I asked if they were coming between 3:00 and 6:00, and they said yes. But they showed up at 7:15. Thankfully, I was still there. Again, the plumber was very nice and he knew what he was doing. But he said he was restricted by American Home Shield on how much drywall he could take down to actually access and find the leak. So he took down a head-sized area so he could see inside the walls and above the ceiling. But even when he cut a seam open, it was sudden and it soaked through. So we bagged all those pieces up and he found the leak. He took pictures and said he had to send his report to American Home Shield then they would contact me and tell me what they're gonna do. I asked how long that would take and he said it was usually 28 to 48 hours. But he told me that he was putting a rush on the job because it needs to get fixed.
These are old properties in DC and I think they're in very good condition. When I've had plumbing work done before, the other plumbers did certain sections but left other sections that were still the old pipes. So what the technician told me was that once you break the pressure in a galvanized pipe, the rest of the pipes need to be replaced. He told me that it can be repaired but I would never get that full pressure back. So I cannot have a fast running shower or a faucet. And that make complete sense. I've googled galvanized pipes and it does say they're not used anymore. They're very old and they corrode from the inside out.
So he gave three quotes. He said to use flex pipe would be $5,600, to use CPVC pipe would be $6,400, and to use copper piping would be $7,500. Then after that, my contract states that American Home Shield would bring somebody in to replace the drywall up to a rough state. Rough to me means they would do the seams and the first coat of mudding. But obviously, they're not gonna paint it or maybe they would put the first coat of KILZ paint on. By that point, it would be absolutely fine. I would be able to get somebody in to do that. The other part is that the plumber said they wanna take care of the plumbing situation. But I don't know if American Home Shield covers opening the drywall.
Now, I've been waiting 24 hours. That was yesterday afternoon at about 4 o'clock so if American Home Shield has not called by this afternoon at 4 o'clock, they will be over the 48 hours' timeframe. Also, that's without putting a rush on it. I called three times yesterday and I'm tired of talking to the Philippines. Obviously, it's a call center that's there. I had more time talking to the Philippines than I've talked to any of my family in the past month. They sympathize with me and if they were in my position, they would do exactly the same thing. But I don't wanna hear the script that they're reading. It's not their fault though. It's just saving money. Some of them have got a heavy accent and I don't understand everything they're saying or the terminology they use. And I want somebody to get on. That's why I use American Home Shield.
The technicians and the company that American Home Shield is using have been great. But their hands are tied until they hear from American Home Shield. So who keeps dropping the ball? I've called the plumbing company back and they had heard back from American Home Shield twice. American Home Shield have got the quotes and the prices, and supposedly, American Home Shield is still reviewing the situation, obviously because there are large amounts of money. But every time I call them, all I get is somebody in the Philippines, saying that somebody would call me back within 48 hours with the case.
On top of that, we've had to cancel our vacation. We were leaving today to go to Egypt for 12 days so we lost all the money on that as well because this is going on. That's what the life of a homeowner is. But this is not the customer service I expected. What's that quote that they always say? "American Home Shield will be there." That's what you hear when you call that phone line. But I'm devastated. I've been with American Home Shield on different properties for over 18 years and I barely call them. I don't call them over a loose screw. I'm pretty educated in knowing when things are major and when they're not. But they're just great when they're taking your money.
After this experience, they will lose my business forever. I will be changing to Old Republic. I was googling to see what other people had said and so many people's reports in Washington, DC are just horrific. When I read it, I thought it's not gonna happen and that they're just bad reports. But now, I'm actually living it. All those reports are pretty accurate.
I apologize for the delay in completing your plumbing leak as you have been terribly inconvenienced.I just sent you an email. I look forward to assisting with a resolution.

American Home Shield sent a tech from Southway Appliance Specialists and he was excellent. I was very pleased with his work. There’s another part that we are waiting on and as soon as he gets the part, he will call and make sure I have an appointment as fast as I can, so he can fix my refrigerator. I also had an incident two years. I was waiting on them to do the part. They never did it, and I had a lot of things going on, and I didn’t follow up on it. But in the end, I was very pleased because they did come in and fix everything. And they waived the payment for me for waiting so long.

I've been with American Home Shield for about two months now and I made my very first claim with them due to my AC. It wasn't cooling the house when we turned it on. AHS sent BPM out of Lubbock, which is about an hour from here. They came out and evaluated it. They looked to see what was gonna be needed and let me know the pluses and minuses. They were gonna have to change the compressor, which would also require them to refill with Freon. AHS only covers about $10 a pound, so it was gonna end up costing me about 1,400 bucks.
Danny, the technician, went out of his way and fixed everything. He did very well. He was very cordial and explained things as he went. He found some leaks in the internal unit in the house and they replaced that unit. It took about five days, but it was fine because it didn't interfere with us at all since the days got normal and not really hot. Everything has been perfect since. I'm happy with American Home Shield. I advise homeowners to get a warranty and I would recommend AHS.

My water heater went out and I called a claim in for it to American Home Shield. I had a very good experience with their contractor MSE. The water heater did not need to be replaced. Instead, it only needed a part. The contractor came on a Friday and they had to send for the part. So, it got a little chilly in the bathtub over the weekend. Still, their tech was here as soon as the part got to them. He put the part in. He was a very polite young man. Everything worked out beautifully and I was very pleased. We've been with AHS for 25 years and I'd always recommend them.

I’ve been getting some emails from American Home Shield. I checked the other day, and I’m paid up for my membership and also for the two visits by their representatives. So, I don’t know why I keep getting emails. We had two claims at the same time, one was for the oven and the other one was for the garbage disposal. The garbage disposal was fixed and American Home Shield replaced the unit. Their customer service is very reasonable and good under the circumstances. But we’re not happy that the oven couldn’t be fixed. Apparently, no one can fix it.
We had two different people come from the same company, and neither of them were able to do anything other than tell us to use a product to clean the oven. We ordered the product that they recommended and we have it. But it is a self-cleaning oven, so it kinda defeats the purpose. We’ve had the oven for five years. Before, we used to run the cycle, and we would get that little ash at the bottom. We sweep it out and we were fine. Now, the cycle gets the oven hot, but when it is finished, it isn’t cleaned, and there’s no ash behind. So, we have to go in with a product and manually clean the oven.

The AC was blowing out hot air and when I submitted the claim, I couldn’t understand the gal at first. So, I had to have her spell everything out for me. When the contractor that American Home Shield sent got here, they looked at the problem. It looked like there was a wire that was vibrating and it lost the plastic coating of the wire, which made a pinhole in one of the lines that holds the Freon. It leaked it all out because of the vibration or the rubbing of this wire.
I wasn’t very happy that I had to pay $700 out of pocket. I had to call in again a second time to talk to them about that and see if they were going to cover it but they didn’t. The issue with the AC was a complete accident and nobody messed with it. It was something that mechanically failed, and it caused a leak. It's not something that I wanted them to add more nor was it low. This was something that happened over time and the unit broke. I thought about the purpose of having the insurance if I'm gonna have to pay out of pocket. All that the technician did was put a little bit of soldering on the pinhole, and that was it. I would have rather paid for that out of pocket on my own than have to pay $700 for the Freon.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

This is my second round with American Home Shield and the experience is better than before. Submitting claims with American Home Shield used to be very difficult. It was a little difficult to get technicians. The first time I quit having American Home Shield was due to the delay in the response. It took one case months to get something done. But now, this is a little different. As a matter fact, I asked two of my friends over the past weekend and they know American Home Shield is worth having for a long time.
I didn’t have an issue with my first experience. This one was pretty smooth and quick. I usually file claims on the phone but I did this time online and in the same time, they gave me who our technicians were gonna be and when they were coming. I think this was something new. Then the technician from Advance Heating & Cooling was here the next day. He had the part on his truck and he fixed the unit in the first time he came out.

I enrolled with AHS when we purchased a home last year. I have a tenant in the property and my property manager or I contact AHS when there is something under the warranty that needs repair. AHS is very unresponsive and unreliable. Most of the service requests are several weeks out. In some cases, we needed someone immediately because of water leak/damage. I had to pay out of pocket for someone else to come and repair a dishwasher because AHS couldn't get a repair person there for 2-3 weeks.
Additionally, we have always provided AHS and their vendors with the name and phone number of our tenant. Even after giving them the tenant information to schedule, they try to call me even though I'm out of town. Then they write on my "account" unable to contact you. They are exasperating! I will not be renewing my contract with them. I'm so disappointed. Seriously, do not use this company.

Customer service is spotty, I've have the warranty for 6 years. I was repeatedly sent the same shady person out to fix my heat after indicating that me and 3 other people with AHS have had issues with repairs from that person. Instead of sending a different company out we were left to freeze and AHS continue to get schemed out of money for repairs that were not complete and parts that were never ordered.
Also, it's easy to put in a work order online but if you have to call AHS to find out about the status of the work order you can easily be waiting on hold for 30 mins to a hour. Recently I had to call about a billing issue and there was absolutely no wait time to talk to someone. Given my experiences it's difficult to recommend them to others knowing I've had trouble with getting repairs myself although I have had some positive experiences that have saved me a ton of money.
I was initially recommended them by my grandparents who had 2 furnaces, a stove and a washer replaced but they also went thru the same trouble with the one-man run company not repairing their heat. With every poor experience I've faced I've attempted to get a manager involved or someone that could resolve the issue more efficiently and have not been successful. Their customer service itself is so poor that it is a major dealbreaker for me.

I have been with American Home Shield for 8 years and they have steadily gotten worse to the point I will now look for a new company. They have sent a company by the name of Universal plumbing out and they were rude and did not completely fix the problem and stated that I would need another work order. I have requested a new company however they insist that Universal is who will come out. I have found another plumber who is local and contracted by them however they will not send them. This company is really going downhill. Would not recommend!

We have Four burner Gas Stove top by NXR. In December 2017 I called our home warranty and reported that the lighter makes continuous clicking noise. They had a repair company call to make a home visit. As soon as I told them we have an NXR they said they don’t repair them. I found the entire experience a major waste of time plus it was the busy holiday season. I followed up in January 2018 and they had another contractor come. This guy never called in advance. Showed up, heard the problem, used a paper towel to supposedly dry the burner. We knew he had no idea what to do so we accepted his simple and stupid solution but I did call AHS to report him.
I called AHS as the problem was now becoming super annoying and we had to endure listening to the clicking lighter noise while cooking. I called AHS again early April this year. They were going to send me the first contractor who didn't service NXR then they suggested the second company which showed up but didn’t know what to do.
Long story short that day I called AHS three times and each time was on the phone for about 45 mins. AHS overseas operators read your questions and comments. They are like robots. Finally I convinced a supervisor that none of the repair companies could fix NXR and I would appreciate they first call the company and check before handing up with me. The repairman came a few days later and I knew he has no idea what to do but I was wishful and hoping he can do something to our fairly new and heavy duty stove top that I loved. He said we needed parts.
20 days later on April 29th, 2019 the repairman showed up to the house and pulled the stove forward and proceeded to replace the part only to find out it was for a 6 burner stove top and ours was 4 burner. Again both my husband and I knew he doesn’t know what he is doing. I called AHS to see if this time they can expedite the part delivery since the repairman faulted them for the wrong part. I had asked the repairman to leave the stove as was so we can clean the sides and we will slide it back in.
Once I took care of the cleaning, I proceeded to check the clicking and found out the flame for the lighter was gone! Called the repairman and he said he can’t come until the following day! I told him I won’t be available for few weeks due to back surgery and that it has only been half hour since he had left but he could careless.
Called AHS to discover how useless they are. Everyone talks like a robot, repeats their answers and can’t really resolve anything. In reading my policy, any damage a repairman causes while visiting my house is my responsibility so I requested to see some credentials for the people AHS sends to my house and I am yet to receive it. I called them again yesterday and they show a part being ordered...I reminded them that berthed repairman is allowed back to my house I will need to see some credentials. He said he will have someone call me! AHS takes money from people like me and then just acts like a reveal agency. My experience has been very negative.

I did a claim with American Home Shield to get my two air conditioners checked before the summer. The experience was okay and smooth, and my interaction with the contractor was fine as well. The only issue that I had with both of them was that with the one for my personal home, it took them 30 days to come do the AC check. And then for my rental property, I had to call them four times for them to set up an appointment because the company only do AC checks one day a week. Other than that, the air conditioners both worked fine after that.
The only question that I have is that when you call the 1-800 number, or even do it online, why can’t you pick your own company you wanna go with, or give you like two or three choices to pick your own company? American Home Shield automatically gives you a company that’s in your area, even though I knew American Home Shield has several different companies that they work with. It’d be great if they give me those companies, and I can choose which one I wanna deal with.

It took a couple of weeks before we found what the real issue was -- I guess that was the process they had to go through. Then, when they found the issue, they couldn't reform it because they said, "You live in a condo," and they don't work on that particular issue in condos. So my issue is still not resolved and American Home Shield has to do it through another contractor. It was American Home Shield who would do their part, which would be pay a portion of the cost for the refrigerant. But we can't get to that until the problem is fixed where the leak is. This contractor said they don't repair, they don't do those kinds of repair on condo. So it wasn't American Home Shield. Everything could've been resolved had the contractor been able to complete the work. AHS has just been fair. They are quick to respond, they called me and they talked the issue over with me. I appreciated that.

I signed up for this $75 AC tune-up special and submitted a claim for the service with American Home Shield. I waited a couple days before the guy from the first company, Ice Cube Air, finally came out. I was waiting from 4:00 to 6:00 on a Tuesday and he came out there at 6:30. Then, the AC’s on the roof and he said he didn't go on roofs. So, he left. AHS got another company to come out a couple of days later and their guy went on the roof. He said that the AC needed a control panel which was a $2,000-job and put the work order in. Then I got a confirmation date and they were coming back that Monday. But no one called or showed up. I called them and somehow they lost the work order.
I’m a realtor, so I live on reviews just to see what’s going on out there. When I went online and did some research, both of the companies that American Home Shield sent out have the worst reviews I’ve ever read. So, I was furious with American Home Shield. Why does my home warranty company work with the two worst-reviewed air conditioning companies on this? Later, AHS sent out a third company, A & R. When the guy was on the roof, he did the whole unit and he said everything was completely fine. There was a wire that was disconnected in the thermostat and it got fixed. But there was never a major issue. However, the first two companies were ready to do thousands of dollars’ worth of work. Still, I’m sure American Home Shield’s gonna use them again.
I’ve also read a bunch of reviews and everybody complained about American Home Shield about the companies they worked with. When I read the reviews at Yelp, I was devastated and almost thought about getting a different home warranty because of that situation. They should be sending one tech out who breaks down the problem, analyzes it, and gets it fixed. They don’t need to send out three companies. Also, AHS shouldn't use those first two companies they sent out here and they shouldn't send out a company that doesn’t go on roofs when you have an AC on the roof. All in all, I was pissed off with that experience. I wish that it didn’t take two weeks and three companies. I had to take off two days of work for it, too. But I’m happy now. That was the first claim I’ve had, so I hope it gets better.

They ordered it and several weeks later, we were told that the part was not available, so AHS wanted to replace the range. They sent C&R Service solutions and they installed the replacement range for us. On top of that, we were also having problems with a washer. They found some loose bolts and tightened those down. The techs who have come to the house have all been good. They did their job and were courteous. However, AHS raised our monthly premium at the end of the year but they didn't do anything to notify us. While they may have buried that notification in some other announcement, that didn't seem really straightforward to me.

Once I had time, I called AHS and requested a second contractor be sent out. But then, they requested some ridiculous service and AHS denied the claim to which I agree. Thereafter, a third contractor came and completed the job in about 30 to 45 minutes which was great. To get the holes fixed, we filed a claim with American Home Shield and it was super easy. I used the chat function on the website and I was done in about three minutes. All Fix came out the next day. The contractor who came out was a good dude. He was prompt and called me before he came. He was messing with drywall and there was dust but he cleaned it all up.
We usually pay AHS for the entire year, but for the first few years, we always had an issue where we waited too long before we paid and would have to call AHS because our contract would lapse on the first of the year. Then, something would go wrong with the house and we would fight and tell them we've already paid for the contract. We got it now though. We generally call them on the 15th of December, renew the contract and pay for it. Then, I call again New Year’s week to ask if everything is good. This last year, they told me it was good. I wish there was an easier way to just tell them that I’m gonna renew for a year, pay it for a year and be done with it, with no lapses.
Good afternoon Anthony,

I called on Monday and the contractors came out on Wednesday. We've had some high winds and the wind somehow got into my water heater and blew the thing out so they lit it themselves. And then I asked them to show me what I was doing wrong when I tried to light it. They took the time to show me, so in case it went out again, I could do it. They were helpful.
Everything was smooth. There wasn't any problems at all from the time I called to the time that they gave me the number of the contractor. I was just disappointed that it took them so long, but I'm assuming because we had some very high winds so I probably wasn't the only one that needed service. They did say 24 to 48 so they did comply within that time frame. I've had American Home Shield probably at every home that I've owned. I've been here for 12 years. Then he called me up, asked if the part arrived here and set up an appointment. Then, he came out and put the part in. The dishwasher has been all right since. When we were having trouble with one of the burners on the stove, the issue turned out to be that the knob on the front of the stove was cracked on the inside. They've been really good to work with and really responsive to the needs that we had. However, the pipes were making a god-awful noise even after it was replaced the first time. It sounded like there was a leak or the PRV that was put on it may have been bad. The guy explained that every once in a while, you can get a bad PRV valve. The check valve was out and the spa was draining down. AHS had done this job before so we fortunately knew exactly what it was. But at the same time, the pump would not turn off. The pump issue which ended up being the relay, was going on before the check valve. But then, it became urgent whenever the spa was draining and the pump wouldn’t shut off, because we were gonna ruin our pump if the pump won’t turn off and there was no water. I called them about it and said that the spa was draining again and they said that that sounded like the check valve but they didn’t know for sure. We have a regular service that comes and cleans our pool, and they confirmed that.
And then there was one other issue. The pressure thing that tells you the pressure on the pool, that was stuck as well. Usually, the contractors of American Home Shield are pretty good about setting my expectation, and they’re usually pretty quick. They were very helpful, very knowledgeable, and really set me at ease. I’ve been happy with them so far. For the most part, they’ve covered most of our claims. We’ve been satisfied from that front.
If you have a home that’s 10 to 15 years old, that’s when things kinda wear down and issues occur and our AHS warranty has definitely been good. When we had the service before this one, they wasted so much of our money. We paid them six times to come out and things weren’t covered. We probably spent about $5,000 on an air conditioning unit that we ended up throwing away six months later and spending $8,000 on another one. On the other hand, AHS covered our air conditioning unit eight years ago and that is the number one reason why we went with them even though we just wasted a bunch of money on an AC unit right before we got them again. I had remembered that experience and that made me feel at ease that they would cover more things down the road.

So I called American Home Shield back today, and I was on the phone forever. And then they told me to call the appliance store, GE. So I called them to see about ordering the oven. And then, GE said they don't handle Haier even though it is a GE product, so the person I spoke with gave me the number to Haier. I called Haier to see about the process of ordering the oven, and I was told I have to go back through the customer service some kinda way. And it's like, "What a freaking crazy loop." I had to go back to where I started. And then, I was on hold forever. Needless to say, I had to get to work, so I can't just sit there on and on.
GE gave me a price of about 500 and some dollars for what they would pay to replace my oven. You can't get an oven for that. But Haier is a GE product, and the retail price is actually a little bit lower than the retail price of the oven they gave me. I looked up the retail price for the oven they gave me. But I'm just stuck in limbo to where I could get a half a day to get back on the phone and start calling again. And in the meantime, I have to eat out because I can't broil anything. I can't recommend anybody to American Home Shield. But I still hope they can correct it where I can have some time to get everything fixed.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

My furnace wasn't turning and there was a lack of heat. I needed some work done on it so I filed a claim to American Home Shield online. It was a very quick process and everything worked out well. The rep told me a contractor was gonna contact me within 24 hours. The tech who came fixed everything right away and addressed something in the igniter switch.
Leo,

Submitting a claim through American Home Shield is a pain in the neck. First of all, they make you wait so long on the phone. And then, they literally repeat everything you say, which I understand they're confirming the information, but I think they're scripted. It sounds very mechanical. I'm frustrated. I'm trying to get my thing fixed, and I'm wasting 30 minutes at work just getting through to them to get some information. Their processing of concerns doesn’t seem like they're very on top of it. They're taking their time. And I understand they have to be thorough, but there's gotta be a balance to that.
I was initially very unhappy with the appliance warranty coverage. Basically, contractor one came out three times, and after the third time, they fixed it, and it worked for a day. I called and talked to the contractor’s customer service manager, and he literally said they couldn't fix our thing and he would call back to the home insurance plan, and they would find me somebody else to fix the dryer. My frustration was it had taken them three times to come out. It was a waste of time. They were bad and I was tempted to cancel American Home Shield. The first contractor was terrible.
Now, on the other side, I was brought by the coverage to contact Zen Appliance, 180-degree turnaround. A gentleman came out in 15 minutes and had the problem diagnosed. He showed me the part and said he had to order it. It was a good service and I liked the guy. The guy ordered the part, had the part, came in very punctual, and got it done. We finally had it fixed in 20 minutes. So, the guy totally was in my house probably for about 30 minutes diagnosing and fixing the problem. Contractor two was excellent.

I submitted a claim online for American Home Shield and it was a lot quicker and better than trying to get them on the phone. Either there is a long wait on the phone or the automated phone system doesn’t work right. I speak English well but it can’t understand what I'm saying. I've had a lot of trouble with that in the past, so this is the second time now that I’ve tried it online. Also, it seems like I get a response a lot quicker through filing online. I asked for a spring tune-up and they sent out Perry Mechanical.
I was told the contractor would come between 11:00 and 2:00, and he was out here quarter after 11:00. I’m glad that I didn’t have to sit and wait all day long. The young man was very knowledgeable and thorough. He has a great personality. A lot of times, the contractors who come out have an attitude but the guy was very friendly and he answered my questions without any problem. That's the thing I liked the best. He checked to make sure everything was running okay, and everything is working perfectly. It was a pleasant experience all the way around. I’ve been with American Home Shield going on 3 years now and I’ve been happy with them.
Good afternoon Brian,
It was a pleasure to read your feedback about your experience with using the online portal. I am glad to hear about the customer service experience with Perry Mechanical.

My water heater went out and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. The process was very simple and quick and the contractors came out promptly the next day. They were very personable and had very good service. They were able to schedule me pretty quick. They assessed my problem and within two days, I had them installing a new water heater. They did a really good job. Since the replacement, my heater has been working the way it's supposed to. I’ll continue to keep AHS as long as I’m around.

There was an issue with the dishwasher and the garbage disposal. I went on the website of AHS, entered in my information, then clicked the item needed. It was super simple. The contractor that came out, Ken's Appliance, claimed that they were ordering parts for my dishwasher but they never gave me any type of ETA and I haven’t heard from them in four to five days. So right now, my dishwasher is still broken. And I probably won’t hear from them unless I call them. They never follow up then I have to call them normally and there's a long wait. This is the second time that they've come out here. The last time they were here, it was for the washing machine. They had really poor attitude and had a tone where they were blaming me for the damage type of thing. I have also rated them fairly low on American Home Shield’s website.
So my experience with AHS has been a hit or miss, depending on who they send out. As for the garbage disposal, the tech that came out was super professional and did good work. They put a new one on but there was a cable on the garbage disposal that needed to be replaced and the company was worried that AHS wouldn’t authorize it because it was a "modification.” But since it was an original cable on the garbage disposal, AHS went ahead and approved it. It was probably because of my record with American Home Shield. I don’t abuse the claim system and I’ve been with them for a while, so they took care of me on that end.
Other than that, I’ve been getting called by other warranty companies and the one thing they have over American Home Shield is the smaller deductible. Right now, American Home Shield charges $100 for each service call up and everybody that talked to me charges either 60 to 75, so maybe they’re trying to undercut American Home Shield.

My AC was blowing hot air and I made the claim online to American Home Shield. The last time I tried to call them, I was on hold for 45 minutes before I even got ahold of anyone in customer service, so that’s something that they really need to get control over. I like doing it online, but sometimes, I would like to speak to a person. Also, it aggravates me even more if I’m calling to speak to you and trying to explain to you a service and then, you don’t understand what I’m saying and I don’t understand what you’re saying.
Doing it online is easy so I might as well do that. However, when I submitted my claim, although there was a box for the AC, there was nowhere to explain what was wrong with it. So, I had to call Service Mechanical in the morning to explain to them what the service call was about and what was wrong. So, if AHS can add something in there where you can explain what is wrong with the unit, that would be great. Nevertheless, the technician fixed it right away. I was impressed that he had the condenser and the fan on the van. I love the technicians. They were the ones who put in the air conditioner six years ago, and they also came out and did my plumbing. That’s the preferred company I like.

We had a septic tank that had backed up. At the time, we could not tell if it was because the electrical components were messed up or if the issue was with the actual septic system itself. We filed a claim for it to American Home Shield online. However, claims with them can take too long to get processed so if I have an emergency, I would need to call. During a call, if I get somebody within the United States, customer service is good. If I get somebody to whom the call is outsourced to, they have no idea what I'm talking about and give me the runaround. Also, some of the contractors they sent are really good while others are really bad.
A contractor from Adam's Electric came out and he went through the wiring and did what he needed to do. Even so, there aren't a lot of contractors for the large area where I live. On top of that, I paid a lot of money out of pocket for the latest issue I had with the septic system. I submitted for reimbursement which is not an easy process and I have not heard anything from anybody on whether or not it has been received. AHS's process needs improvement.

However, I didn't know the contractors don't come out during weekends. I submitted on a Saturday and I needed them then, but they ended up coming out on Monday. But everything was good once the tech from Prime Plumbing got here.

American Home Shield's claim submission process is easy and it's a no-brainer for the representatives. They ask what the problem is and they set me up with an appointment. They are friendly too. When the pool pump had been leaking for a couple of weeks, I called it in the soonest I noticed it. They sent out Jasper’s Service Pro who we’ve had a couple of times for different things, and they’ve all been very good. They usually inform me that they would come between 8:00 and 12:00 on a particular date. Then, the work they performed has been good. And if I have a problem, they take care of it. I’ve had American Home Shield service now going on 2 years, and I’ve used it with no complaints. In fact, I'm moving to another house and I'm also gonna have an American Home Shield policy on the next house.

The reps from American Home Shield have been pleasant on the phone and fine to deal with but we have a mixed feeling for AHS. We were happy with the second claim and not so happy with the first. Our air conditioner was not turning on and filing the claim was very easy. Within two days, AHS had someone out at the house. The contractor was knowledgeable and did a good job. He repaired the air conditioner within half an hour and it has been fine ever since. On the other hand, when our refrigerator died, we called AHS and the people that they got in contact with couldn’t come for a week. I was supposed to have 20 people at my house within two days. I called AHS back and they tried to get somebody else, but those people couldn’t get here as well. AHS told me that they would get somebody out here as soon as they could, but we couldn’t wait. We ended up not dealing with them and just bought a new refrigerator and was out $1,400.

All American Services fixed my AC problem. But the next day, it went right back off. The upstairs is still working, but the downstairs is no longer working anymore. So, I don’t know if I would have to talk to American Home Shield or call the contractor. Nevertheless, sending a claim online was really simple, and the contractor came in about a day or two. The contractor was great. He was very professional about the situation. And even when there was a second air conditioner that needed to be fixed, he read me the rundown on how to get that added on, and he went ahead on and fixed it without any problems. AHS is a really good company.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated regarding your most recent experience to have the AC repaired.

When I call AHS I have to wait very long on the phone for 45 to 50 minutes most of the time. That’s a little frustrating. You reach to the point where you don’t even wanna call them because you have to wait so long. But once you speak to them, the claims reps were very nice. The young ladies who answer the phone are pretty knowledgeable. You can ask what company you want to come. If the company is on their list, they’ll oblige. And then, you have to wait for them to send the parts to the company. That takes a while, like two to three days. But with the heating system it took three days or more because they had sent the wrong parts.
My heating system is like from the 1960’s, and all winter, we've really been freezing, and the bills were $600 a month. I called American Home Shield and Carrano came over. They were excellent. They replaced the whole system and I put a heat pump in. The salesperson who came over for the contract is a typical salesperson. He's a fast-talker, but he was easy to deal with. And I was gonna go with them because they seemed reasonable. They were meeting my goals.
However, the contractor said I would have to pay for the air conditioning and the heat pump because American Home Shield wouldn’t consider that broken although the heat pump was essential to the heating system. That way, you don’t have to rely on the electric strip that’s in the heating system. AHS didn’t mention that if you have older equipment, you may have to contribute more money towards repairing it. Even though I paid my $649 for the year, I still had to contribute another $525 to repair the system. But I went through it with the rep and he was nice. He gave me a discount. The technicians were also wonderful and respectful of the home. They knew what they were doing and very respectful.
This would be my second year with AHS. I've also used them for my microwave. My microwave was turning off so I needed a whole new power put in and they put the whole new door on with the power. And at the same time, at the same day the tech was coming over, the knob on the stove wouldn’t shut off the range. The range just kept burning and he took care of it. I paid that on my own. Mr. Appliance called American Home Shield and told them that they should pay for it, that the technician took care of the knob immediately because he was there already, and American Home Shield took over the payment. Mr. Appliance refunded my money immediately and is a good company.

So on April 22nd AHS was called about my refrigerator and freezer which are two separate units. I informed AHS that these were two units and yet they were still classified as one but because the lady had a language barrier between her and I the ticket was never submitted correctly. When the service provider showed up he looked at both units and said he will be ordering parts for them. The next week April 30th I was informed Sears would be coming out for my units via email. Come to find out the original service center didn't work on my units and I was passed off and wasn't notified of this.
When Sears arrived at my home on May 3rd guess what? They only had one work order and could not fix my freezer and didn't have any parts to fix my refrigerator. AHS was notified about this on May 3rd and the representative had a language barrier as well and could not locate a supervisor because it was Friday. So on Monday May 6th a call was placed to AHS again to try and make sure that I had two work order for my appliances. Nope. Wasn't done but they would do a add on free of charge. Well guess what? It's May 8th and still never heard from AHS or the service provider.
So I contact them and the work orders were still wrong. They said this time they will be good and my units will be fixed. Lol we will see. You pay for a service for a company to fix your appliances and they tell you to find a local service tech to look at your units and AHS will reimburse me. Y'all can't even get a work order right. How are you going to write me a check to pay me back and didn't I already pay y'all to do this?

I called American Home Shield to have a clothes vent checked. They said that I need the dryer checked first. The tech came out and checked and cleaned the dryer and found that the vent is plugged. He was to forward the order to American Home Shield. After not hearing anything for a couple of days I called them to find out the status. After being on the phone for over an hour they said that a company would call me in 24 hours to set an appointment. Then next day I called to find out what's going on and was then told that my contract didn't cover vent cleaning. This has been going on for over a week and now I have to get my own person to fix my problem. Also I was charged $100.00 for a service call on a dryer that had no problem. Very poor service.

I've used AHS for years but this round I had a terrible experience. They definitely do not cover AC repairs. If your AC needs repair, you will have to pay a ton of money because they cover a minimum amount for the repair/exchange of a compressor. The company they sent wanted to charge me $1400 to do this repair aside from what they were getting from the AHS (a measly $491)! Finally I opted for getting the cash and buying a new AC system rather than paying so much money for the replacement of a compressor! Just know that if you need AC work, AHS sucks!

I am quite dissatisfied with AHS. It took 3 weeks for their AC vendor to properly diagnose the problem with my AC (I live in Florida so it's hot). The vendor's diagnosis is a new system was needed. The information the vendor submitted to AHS does not match the diagnosis given to me. The vendor is representing AHS so their diagnosis should represent the AHS guidelines. Since their diagnosis to me was a new system is required, that's what I'm expecting. I spoke with Tanya at AHS and I told her what my invoice from the vendor said and she said, "It doesn't matter what your information says". Wow, the customer's comments don't matter?!? Very disappointing in how I'm being treated. The vendor selected is not representing AHS very well and AHS isn't taking care of the customer.

After purchasing a policy from American Home Shield I contacted them three days (34 days later) after the policy went into effect only to find out they have no appliance repairman within the area I live. They continued to search for a week but failed to locate anyone. They charged me $125 service call and the $34.99 monthly premium. After calling them 3 or 4 times about my refund due to no service it took over a month to get the $125. service fee call refunded and they kept the $34.99 monthly premium but provided no service. It could have been worse. I could have paid this plan for a year or two just to find out they have no repair personnel in my area since our Sears closed.

He showed up, looked at it and said he needed to go get a part. He left and then came back and fixed it. Since then, it has been working like it was supposed to. I also had one for the doorbell. The doorbell guy came and he was in and out in probably 20 minutes because it was a bad wire. I have no complaints. The contractor called me and set up an appointment. He came out, took a look at it and made a phone call to make sure everything was covered. He got the job done and I was very pleased.
