I woke up on a Monday morning and my freezer was leaking and it wasn't freezing. It was also making a loud noise. So, I immediately put in a request to American Home Shield to get a repair on it. It took a little bit of time for me to hear from Gulf Appliance Repair. I called them and they told me that they had not received the request yet from American Home Shield. They told me as soon as they did, they would call me. So it was after 24 hours and then, they called me. They didn't have an appointment for several days and that was concerning because it was the freezer and everything in the freezer.
I let them know that I would need something earlier and they ended up calling me back and they gave me a sooner appointment. They ended up giving me two days. I spoke with them and they indicated to me that they had gotten a lot of requests because some of the companies that work with American Home Shield were going out of business with the COVID, so they had been really behind. We made the arrangements and the person they sent was good. The freezer ended up being fixed and the noise subsided. All ended well. Everybody who has come over here has been very highly qualified and capable. So, I've been happy with this service. It's just that when you're having that kind of need, the sooner the better. They should have enough vendors to be able to send someone over. It may be related to COVID that this has happened and maybe in the past, it hasn't been an issue.

It was running hotter in my house. I usually have my AC on 70 or 71. So eventually, I would have to replace it. I just wanted to make sure that was being maintained correctly because I’ve only been in the house a year and a half. I was making sure nothing was wrong with it, and so I put in the ticket to American Home Shield. Oaks Heat and Air called me within a very timely manner. It was within less than 24 hours. They came in the very next day, and the guy was very professional. He was probably here for 45 minutes to an hour. Thankfully, nothing had to be done. He said he added a little bit more Freon to my air conditioner but, overall, it's well. He kept my ducts up in the attic. So, I was very pleased.

My dishwasher stopped working. I went on the American Home Shield app, told them the situation, and they sent me the details of the company. I contacted the company and they came out and fixed the issue.

The part of the AC that take the water out was clogged somehow. Liberty Plumbing cleaned it relatively quickly and it started working again. They fixed it in about an hour. When I sent in the claim, Liberty was here the next day. It was all very quick. AHS is a good service. I'm still keeping it.

We had a $900 plumbing bill so we went the next day and got a warranty with American Home Shield. It's been really good and helpful to be able to have one place to call to get all sorts of repairs done. When my AC wasn't blowing cold enough, I did a service request online. Central Virginia, the contractor, called me within a day after I submitted the claim and they gave me the date that their person would arrive. It was like a week later. The repairman was a great guy and he did a good job. The problem was fixed and my AC has been fine since. I am very satisfied.

I had issues with the AC and the refrigerator and I was gonna do the claims at the same time but the automated system didn't take it even though I had to pay $200. Cecil and Sons came out for the AC and the tech changed the fuse and it worked well. I wish I knew that because I would have changed it instead of paying $100. But they did a great job and they advised me on some things. Then, I scheduled for my refrigerator and because the food was really bad, I had to unplug it and clean it. The contractor came and the said it cannot be unplugged. I tried to plug it and he said it has to take 24 hours. He left but never called me back. The $100 had been deducted but it was for nothing. Home Shield needs to improve whoever they send. They have negligence of the customer’s need. Also, it is very hard to get the appointment on time with the situation there is. I would rather save money and buy a new item.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

My daughter's room was really hot due to my AC issue. I tried to call American Home Shield but they weren't answering because it was after-hours. Still, submitting the claim to them was easy. They sent out American Air Conditioning and Heating Co and the techs from there found that the problem was something with our switch. The tech also found that my daughter's room was not insulated enough as well as a bunch of other issues with her room. The techs came out again to try and move the inside vent but Home Shield said they wouldn't cover the sheetrock. I told the techs not to move the vent because I didn't want holes in my ceiling not covered up. AHS should give more details on what is covered. I wasn't notified that my sheetrock wasn't covered until the techs were out at my place.

Our AC unit wouldn't turn off and it was not making cold air. I had somebody else out to do maintenance on it and when the AC wasn't working, they came back out to check it because they had just been out there the day before. They said that there was a leak in one of the condenser coils and that went beyond the service that this maintenance that I was having them do.
When I called AHS, there was a one hour wait time and the rep had a rooster crowing every 10 seconds in the background. Their rep said that she was unable to make any changes to the schedule. It took five days to get somebody from All Comfort out here. I get that it is summer and it is busy. But it would’ve been nice to have an alternative to go to ‘cause I had another company that could be out on the same day or the next day. So, five days in July is not an option being summer here in Oklahoma. But once All Comfort got here, they were quick, courteous, cordial, and got us going again. The technician charged it up with some coolant and some sealant. Since then, everything has been working fine.

I had the opportunity to speak with a live person from Home Shield when I called in for my ceiling fan and I liked that much better. Then, they sent me a text to let me know when to expect the contractor. Lite it Up Electric came out and the tech looked at the ceiling fan. He did a great job. It's been great with Home Shield so far. Every time I've called, they've responded. And when the company comes out, they fix the problem.

My whole ceiling fell in ‘cause of my plumbing. I paid the 75 but I fixed it myself before Island Mann Plumbing got here ‘cause I had to have my water on and they were just gonna do the same thing. They were great. They came out, looked at it, and they said that’s the exact same thing they were gonna do. My whole piping is rotted. I have an older house that has galvanized piping in it. The plumber said it was going to keep breaking and I did plumbing for a few years and I understood the same thing that he was saying. But the plumber said that all AHS want them to do was just patch it up. The plumbing needs to be replaced but AHS won't pay for that. So I don't know what to do. I don't have the $8,000 to replace my piping right now. I was hoping that I could get some assistance but it wouldn't work with the warranty.
My air conditioner wasn't cooling two weeks before. I just paid the service charge and the technician said that the air conditioner was fine. It was just an older unit, and it would not keep up with the heat of where we live at this time of the year. I don't have trees around my house and it's 100 and some degrees here. The temperature is higher than what my thermostat is set on. I was making sure my air conditioner wasn’t about to fail on me so we had a technician come and check it out.
We do apologize for the inconvenience and your work was not properly done. It is not our intent to cause a difficult experience pertaining to the plumbing. We do appreciate you for sharing your experience, and allowing us assist. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further.

American Home Shield had always been efficient. The first time I called them was about the roof and that was taken care of with no issues. Then the motor on our AC went out. After four years that I've been here, this is the first time I've had issues with my air conditioner. There was a long wait to get ahold of someone ‘cause of the COVID-19, but it wasn't too bad. I was waiting for the first people that Home Shield had called. Then I finally decided to call them back and I was told that the first company canceled the order. No one called me to inform me that they canceled the order 'cause they said they could not service me. So it was a good thing that I called them back. So better communication all around would've been perfect. But the person they did get was excellent. West End Mechanical had to take the whole thing apart to get to the motor but their tech did it successfully and neatly. As soon as he finally found the issue, it started working right away.

R&A Cooling did a great job. The air conditioning unit started leaking, which is in the attic. I went upstairs and I saw that it was leaking from the unit inside the home. The tech ended up having to install a pipe on the unit. He did it the same day, and everything's working fine so far. I'm loving having coverage with American Home Shield. I will refer them out.

Jared, the owner of The Pool Guyz, was awesome as well as his company. I had them at the beginning of the season. They had to change the part of the motor and then the week before, they had to change out the grids in the filter. They were timely, efficient and came when they said they were gonna come. But I had another company that I worked with that I am not that pleased with. It was called Express Appliances.
My microwave and my oven are both Thermador brands and both broke during COVID. They came, diagnosed the problem and had to order parts for both. They said that the parts were gonna come directly to me and when I get them, I should call and I could make an appointment for them to come out and service. I said that it has taken me so long to get to them and I asked if I could make the appointment now. The man who was here said that I would need to wait until I get the parts. But I would go to the front of the line and I wouldn't have to wait because I already have my parts. So, I said okay.
It took a few weeks for the parts to come and then, it took another four weeks to get an appointment. They were supposed to come on June 25th and my window was 11:00 to 2:00. I called at 9:00 in the morning and I asked if they had any idea on what time they were gonna get to me because I needed to run an errand for my daughter, but I don't want to leave if they were on their way. The rep said that the serviceman was on a big job and he was gonna be here closer to 11:00. He said not to worry. I said there was no problem.
I went out, did my errand and at quarter of 11:00, my phone rang. They were calling to schedule my appointment. I said that I've waited five weeks for this appointment, besides the three weeks that it took for the part to come in. And the rep said that they had to reschedule that. The technicians were not gonna be able to come that day. I said that I called them this morning and confirmed that they were coming before I left the house. She said that they would need a cart to remove my double oven and they didn't have a cart. So, they couldn't come without it. So I said okay. They screwed up and I confirmed it. And then, they didn't fit me until the end of July, so I had to wait another month.
When they came in the middle of July, the cart that they brought to take out the oven was broken. So, they had to leave. Three days later with the cart and I finally got my oven fixed. Now, my microwave is not working so well and I called back while I was in my 30 days. I spoke to American Home Shield yesterday and I said that my microwave is not so powerful anymore. It takes so much more time than it used to. The guy said that he contacted the appliance place and they're gonna reach out to me to reschedule to come back. I still haven't heard from them. So, it has not been a great experience with them. My problems have been going on for months, so it's annoying.

Jenaro of Doctor Cool came to check our AC. With all the people that came to my house, he was the best. He came on a Saturday and was on time. He was professional and knew what he was doing. He cared about what was happening to us and he checked everything. Some people who came here just stayed outside. But Jenaro checked the vents and he gave us advice on how to make it cooler. We have a humidifier that made it really bad for our vent. He was knowledgeable and I wanna commend him for that.
The thing, however, is it was so hard to call American Home Shield. Usually, I call them but it's like there's nobody really answering the calls. It's a three, four-hour wait so I just did my thing online. Also, last time when a guy came, I thought the Freon was included in the package. But it was not and we paid $573 for it. It was too much. That is aside from the $49 a month and $100 if we call American Home Shield.

Custom Climate did a great job with the air conditioning unit. When the tech came, it was not putting out enough air and he said everything was working but the problem was that the motor wasn't big enough. They recommended a bigger motor and my wife and I are still considering it. Overall, Home Shield's response was good and I appreciated the cooperation of everybody.

I had a problem with my refrigerator and American Home Shield sent Brandt's Appliance. They said they fixed the problem but it came back. This whole thing went on for a couple of months. They fixed it and it worked a little bit but it wasn’t making ice and wasn’t cooling. I called them and they sent somebody out, and they supposedly fixed it. Then, shortly thereafter, the same ice maker stopped working and I had no ice for several days. So, I called them back. About five days later, they came out but by then, the icemaker had started working beautifully. I tried to explain to him what happened but he said it’s working and he couldn’t do anything about it.
Then, not only did the fridge stop, but it stopped cooling again the night before. I called them and they replaced the circuit board. There are three electrical systems in the back of the fridge but they only replaced two. But be that as it may, it worked for a while and then it started acting up again. Somebody came out at no cost and they fixed it. They said something was freezing up behind the freezer.
I bought two ice makers that you put water in and put in the freezer. I haven't done that since I was a child and I'm 75 years old. That's what I have in the freezer making ice because this ice maker never goes more than a quarter full. So if you have several people and you make a little ice of it, there is none. I even went as far as buying another refrigerator because I had so much trouble with the claim. Now, I have a refrigerator in the garage and I have two ice trays in the bottom making ice. I said in my mind that I’m not gonna call back about this ice maker. I’ll just live with it until whenever.
I have an LG convection oven and the first week of May, the largest burner stopped working. It has a very large, a medium, two small burners and a warmer in the middle back. I dreaded to even call AHS. I waited a few days because after my experience with the refrigerator, I just didn’t need one more stressor. But I called AHS and they took the $100 on May 3rd. They sent somebody out from Sears who came out, assessed and said the burner was bad. It made sense to me because the burner wasn't working. They ordered the parts and when it came, I had to call them back to let them know. They came out, put it in and lo and behold, the burner didn’t work. So, before we left, the technician was on the phone with American Home Shield.
There was something in the back of the stove that needed to be repaired because it was not the burner. Now, I have my burner that they took out, the new that they brought and the stove is still not working. Something for the electrical part of the stove in the back was ordered and I have to wait for it to come. The technician claimed he couldn’t get it. So, he had American Home Shield order the part. Eventually, the part came and I called American Home Shield. Then I called Sears. They said that I called so, I have to pay for that cost. AHS has to call them. This is COVID and it takes an hour and a half on the phone to get American Home Shield. The calls take a long time.
When I had Sears on the line, I couldn’t reach AHS but I eventually did and they sent the Sears guy out. When he came out, the part wouldn’t work though. Now, I have an extra burner, the electrical parts in the back and the stove is still not working. I waited because it’s frustrating to try to reach somebody. Eventually, I thought that something was strange. This is not an old stove. It is not even fully 9 years old until September 1st. They can’t get the part and they keep getting the wrong parts.
I called AHS and I asked what model number they have. The model number that the rep read to me was not the model number for the stove. I got the manual right in front of me and I gave her the right model number and said that was why the parts didn't work. The burner probably worked because it’s a standard large burner for an electric stove, but the mechanics in the back have to be specific to the model. So, I gave her the model number and she said alright. I'm still waiting.
I just got off the phone with AHS this morning because I've been trying to reach them from Friday and no good luck. Sometimes you talk to somebody after you wait for an hour and a half, somebody comes on, deals with you and they couldn’t make any decision. They have to reach a supervisor. Then in the process, the phone cuts off and they don't call back. So, you're out of an hour and a half and you have to either call back that same day or some other day when you get ahold of all the anxiety and the stress of the calling.
I managed to reach somebody this morning after holding for an hour. The rep came on and she apologized. I gave her all the information. I wanted to know what was going on with the claim and she looked it up.Then, she reached out to Sears, even though I just told her everything. They're still in the process of trying to get the part. They now have the correct model number so, hopefully, that's the part that the guy thinks is wrong because I have no way of knowing. This is August and this was from May. I just got off the phone with the rep and I am waiting for them to hopefully get the right part, and my stove will be fixed. I love to cook and I cook at least every other day in my house. It’s annoying that my largest burner on my stove isn't working. Depending on what I'm cooking, and I'm using a large pot, it’s just not the same. I'm sure AHS is probably a good company but it's unfortunate that my experience is very bad.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

The AC was turning on and everything, but the house wasn't cooling off. I called in and asked about when to expect the contractor because no one had contacted me. Home Shield had my home number as my contact number. The company had reached out to schedule a time on that Friday, but they didn't get in contact with me just because I was simply outside. I called Home Shield back on Saturday and said no one has contacted me. I live in Yuma, Arizona and it's pretty hot. And then, Home Shield reached out to Fleshers Refrigeration and they reached out to me. They came that same day. Everything was great. They asked a few questions, and then went and looked at the unit and told me what the problem was. They had everything they needed to fix it on-hand, so then they went ahead and fixed. They replaced the refrigerant in my AC. The whole thing may have taken about 40 minutes.
I’m not home a lot so I didn't want to have something break when I'm not at home. I had to pay a month-to-month and the $75 whenever the contractor comes out. Since 2008, the AC has been serviced two or three times. I've had the water heater replaced two or three times, and I've had the dishwasher serviced. I've had a refrigerator completely replaced. The warranty could be a bit lower on the month-to-month charge because it went up over the years, but in the grand scheme of things, I'm not too mad about it.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. Although we hope there are no issues in the future, we are here if you need us.

I've been with American Home Shield for 13 years now. At first, I didn't like it at all. I would contact them and it would take forever for their contractors to contact me back. I would call them again and again. I have also dealt with AHS in the past for things I didn't agree with as far as things breaking are concerned. Their contractors would always cause my problem. They have a practice where I have to take the contractors they assign to me even though those individuals are not very good or are just trying to get money.
More recently, my AC stopped working one Friday. I went online and put in a work order through to American Home Shield. I got contacted on a Sunday and the reps said their contractor AC Plus would be out at my place on Monday afternoon. The contractor called me on Monday morning and said that they were in my neighborhood and could come out sooner. The tech told me exactly what was wrong and immediately fixed it. He knew what he was talking about and I didn't feel that the was taking advantage of me or trying to milk me out of some money. I've dealt with a lot of contractors who just say that my stuff is broken and needs to be replaced so that they can get money from me. The tech from AC Plus replaced the part that was needed and it has been working ever since. The process I went through recently was really simple and easy.

I had an emergency call for my AC unit and initially, American Home Shield referred me to the one provider that they constantly use in this area when there's a problem with the air conditioner. But this organization was never able to come and when they did, they didn't seem to be astute in this area. I was on a call for five hours with American Home Shield trying to get them to change the provider and in the end, they made the call to Bayless and Sons. Once they did, I was told when the tech would be here and when he came out, it was rather late. But he knew exactly what he was doing. He was also professional, courteous, and expeditious. He took care of the problem in a matter of time and I was on my way to getting cool again.
But AHS could have checked with more than one provider. All they did was refer the claim over to a provider, then it was up to them to get back to American Home Shield, and they tell their consumer to contact that provider. But I've had interaction with that provider before and they never answered the phone. Also, American Home Shield's phone system make it very difficult for you to touch base with them on the phone. It could be because we're in the midst of all of this heat and I would give them the benefit of the doubt. But for this claim, I was on the phone for five hours plus.
Other than that, to a general homeowner, having the home warranty is beneficial and American Home Shield is the best. But to me, I rarely use them and sometimes I forget that I have them. For example, when my hot water heater went bad last year, I called the plumber and when he came, he replaced it and it was over $1,000. I subsequently remembered I had American Home Shield and I called them for a reimbursement, but they said no. The plumber that replaced it is one of the folks that they deal with but they said I should've called them before.

Scheduling the appointment through American Home Shield was a little more cumbersome than I expected. A part of it was because I had two appliances. But I was told to wait until I accumulated two things 'causee it would be $75 each time. I was tired of not having water in the refrigerator, and if the dishwasher wasn't going to get the dishes cleaned, then I'd need a new dishwasher. This is the first time I've used American Home Shield in the seven months that I've had them.
The dishwasher was clogged. So The technician from AT Appliances assessed the problem, took the arms off and cleaned them. With the refrigerator, the technician figured out that not only was the line frozen, but there was also a crack in the water tank. He ordered the part. As soon as the part came in, the office called and made an appointment for the technician to come out. I also liked that they called and let me know he was on his way. He came back the following week and fixed the problem. He wore a mask and he was very courteous and respectful. It worked fine and I was very pleased with the whole thing.

My water heater wasn't producing hot water. I didn't know how to change settings or anything like that. When the tech from Hers and His Plumbing came out, he looked at it and stated there was something wrong with the two thermostats because they were set so high but the water wasn't working. He swapped them out for me real quick and I have hot water now. It was a simple fix. The tech was in and out in about 30 minutes and it was all fixed, all better. With COVID-19 and everything, it was really a safe, easy repair. That was the best kind.
He was out a week and a half ago and I can tell the difference. In my shower, to get the water to a really nice warmth, I had to turn the knob all the way on, but now I'm like, “Oh, no, no, no. Back that off.” Also, one thermostat was set at 140 and the other one at 135, but we weren't even close to that temperature. We were getting about 112 degrees out of it. The tech put in the 120 and that's what comes out, which is what it is supposed to do.

I had two sinks that were draining slowly. One was because of the way the drain line was routed from the air conditioner into the sink. It also had algae growing in the pipes. The technician cleaned it out and it works great. He told me what to do if it starts slowing down again. Then, the other sink was a hair clog from the previous owner who did not do any maintenance in their life. The technician cleaned that out too and so all is good. The claims have been processed on my behalf from these vendors. They've been out here for a couple different systems that they worked on, and I've had good results so far. With improvement in a couple different small areas, American Home Shield could get better. One of my appliances has to be replaced and I have to wait for three hours on the phone to get someone on their system. There's no feature to have them call me back. They have a callback option on their primary line, but on the other support lines, like for replacement appliances, they do not. I also have one open item that they said they’d repaired, but it appears that it's not totally resolved, so I'm doing a recall for that issue.

I called American Home Shield for the AC unit and they connected me with a reliable company to come and fix the problem. The rep was very professional and she had her mask on. Then, coming in and out of the house, she had protectors on her shoes. She had to put some more Freon to my AC and she said that due to the home warranties, it knocked out $10 a poundage. I was four pounds short. She said she fixed the line, which was up under the warranty. My total bill was $400 and she said that if I didn't go through AHS and just called an HVAC place myself, my bill would've probably been easily close to $1,000. Everything was completed within a week and I felt good that when she left, the problem was fixed. There are no other underlying issues such that in a couple of months, I'm gonna be calling for another issue. She was very thorough and it made sense with the issues that I was having with my AC unit.

I've used Home Shield twice and they've done everything they have promised. Recently, one of the motors of my AC started cranking and making a loud noise. My wife called American Home Shield and set up an appointment with their contractor American Air Conditioning and Heating LLC. The techs called us in advance and told us they would be at our place the next day between 9:00 and 10:00. The techs were very knowledgeable and explained everything to us. They serviced my AC system and did a great job. Everything has been functioning well since then.

I submitted a request for a plumber to come out and fix a leak under the kitchen sink. They charged me $100 even before they came out. The plumber came out and said he needed to get approval for the repair. I waited over a week to hear back from these people. Then I called and waited on hold for 90 minutes. Once I got a representative, they advised me that I they would not cover my repair. I asked that they review again and they offered to send someone else out. I agreed and the call magically disconnected. I ended up calling Sunshine Plumbing, a local plumbing company. They fixed the leak in about an 90 min. They charged me $200 and it was perfect. I received a letter from AHS confirming they would not cover my claim about 2 weeks later.
When I called to cancel, they had the audacity to charge me an additional $1.32 to cancel the contract after paying $100 for a do nothing service call and a few months worth of premiums. What a disappointment! Sears Home Warranty with all the financial trouble they are in, provide much better service and cover everything without any problems. I feel like AHS has completely taken advantage of me and should not be trusted. Stay away!

We purchased a plan with AHS called that our AC was not blowing correctly. This was the first year we ever had any trouble with it. They charged us $100.00 service fee then said our AC unit was not the correct size for our house. And so they could not help us. It is the correct size and has been for years working just great. We called a local AC repair office after reading that the one they sent had many many bad reviews. He did not have a clue how to fix AC The one we called on our own came out cleaned our AC unit and fill with freon. Works Great now. So we paid $350.00 for his service + the $100.00 to AHS Then they wanted another $100.00 to get a second opinion.
They will lie to get out of service. I know of many this has happened too. After our contract we are done with AHS. Plus 3 times they had us on hold for 2 hours before we could talk to a person and then put on hold another hour. She said she didn't have the authority to take care of the problem and there was not a manager there. She said they did not have any one in the USA that could talk to us by phone only sells people were in the USA. We received 2 text saying they were going to call us But NEVER did.

I've been with AHS for one yr. And the first time my AC broke they sent a HVAC company, who must have been mentally ill to not just screw up my system, but flood the house with water cause he didn't connect the proper lines and still to today 8/7/2020. I've called AHS 23 times and they haven't fixed the issue. We have been getting the hottest summer degrees above 98 most days with a brand new baby at home. ( And they know all this).
First no one ever answers the phone (they are either from the Philippines or Georgia), no courtesy, no professionalism, they don't hire competent contractors. And they have some nerve to call me for a payment (can't get anything fixed but they want to get paid). And has some nerve to send me a email that I owe them - this company is a ripoff. Before you waste your money call or look online for their HVAC reviews. If you spend your money here you will regret it!. You have been warned!

I used AHS once 2 years ago and was fine. This year I made a valid claim for a hot water heater and they denied it. I would try and call them and the wait time is always 40 minutes plus wait time. I blew it off and just had it fixed myself, but they still charged me a $125 service charge for the pleasure of them doing nothing. 5 months later I had a mainline sewage that backed up creating a mess on the floor. I put in a ticket online. Several hours after no response I called them, waiting 51 minutes for them to answer. They said they would get in touch with someone and call me back within 4 hours.
The next day, I called them and waited over 40 minutes for them to answer. She said "I am sorry we didn't get back to you. Let me check on it and I will call you right back.". Several hours later I called back, and you guessed it, I wait over 45 minutes this time. She put me on hold for a very long time and came back and said "we can't find anyone, so you have an outside authorization so you can go and find someone yourself. Just have the plumber call us and get a preauthorization". I got someone out almost immediately. He diagnosed it and said it would be $300.
I called AHS several times which took several hours of the day. The plumber was waiting and he was pissed. He then said he will have to start charging by the hour for the wait. I finally get through and AHS person says the plumber needs to call their outside authorization line. Plumber calls that number and it isn't in service. I call AHS and wait and then she says "I will transfer you over directly", then the phone goes dead. I call back and wait 40 minutes for them to answer and I ask her to get the team on the line directly. She comes back and says "their number is going through, something is wrong with the lines."
I demanded I get approval on the line right now or the plumber will double the bill. She gets a supervisor and I get the approval and she took the plumber's number to do a follow up call. She tells me to send bill to ahsosa@ahs.com, which I did. 6 weeks later they send me an email saying "your claim is denied because you didn't have a pre-authorization". :O I have called them 3 times at 1.5 hours per call to get the reimbursement and they won't call me back.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

We have used AHS for the past 3 years. The experience year 1 and 2 were great. The last 6 months of this year their service has been unacceptable. Scheduling service takes weeks (put in service request on 7/14). Then they reschedule at the last minute after you have waited all day (first available appointment was 7/28... at 4:09PM I was notified it would be rescheduled based on a day they picked... I was not consulted). You can never get a customer support person on the phone. Most times they hang up after waiting for at least an hour. They no longer have a CHAT option to get quick answers. At this time, I could not recommend this company.

Absolutely no communication during this time - had to call in multiple times with hour's long wait on the phone to be told conflicting and incorrect information. Tried escalating the issue twice - was told both times that a supervisor would call back that same day - never received a call. AC is still not working - no plan to repair as of Aug 7th 2020.

I have a AHS home warranty. I have had an ok experience with it up until now. My microwave is shot and AHS has offered to replace it. The problem I am having is that I have all stainless steel appliances and the microwave they are offering to replace it with is black. I received an email with the offer to replace the microwave or take a cash offer for far less than the microwave is worth. There is no way to reply to the email I received, so I called AHS and they said I need to speak with their appliance purchase department and gave me a separate 800 number to call.
I have been trying to call every day this week and have spent over 14 hours on hold waiting for someone to answer to no avail. I have called back to AHS’s main phone number 3 times and they tell me they cannot help and I must talk to the appliance department. According to the email I received I only have a few days left to accept their replacement offer or I will automatically get the lowball cash payment. Extremely frustrated.

One of my air conditioning units was not working. So I called American Home Shield and the guy that came out was phenomenal. It was a fantastic experience. He came in with shoe covers and face mask. The heating unit was in the attic and he went up there. Every time he walked out, he took the shoe covers out and put them back in. He had the spare part with him, replaced it and started working. All of this was done in an hour. So my experience with them was unbelievable. I have a bunch of rental properties and this guy was the best. American Home Shield is really good. I go to their website to request for a service and the guys are there within the next day. So far my experience has been really good. The only place I have a little issue is my pool coverage. They started selling home insurance too and I buy from them but I don't have any experience with their home insurance. My friend has been using American Home Shield for 20 years or so. My other friends are using them as well, and I have another friend who wants to start using them. Amazon has been sending me stuff and calling me, but I have had a good experience with American Home Shield somehow. I like some, and I don't like some. I was trying to call to discuss some stuff with them and nobody called me back. I was on the phone for one hour and a half.
I also had a rental house where the AC suddenly was not working. I was thinking maybe something was done with the buttons, but when the contractor went to the house, he said he needed to add more stuff. He charged me $195 and I thought the insurance would cover some of that, but they didn't. They said that I get a $10 discount and I was not happy about that. At another time, American Home Shield had Electrical Service Professionals come out and they were very good. I like them. The guy who came was knowledgeable and he fixed my doorbell that was not working. He did a great job and he left right away.

One of the things I chose American Home Shield for was because of the cost to replace things. I was gonna go with another company because they only charge $60 co-payment. That of AHS is a little high but if you need to get an air conditioner, they're close to $5,000. The other one will only pay out up to $2,000 for it. So, it's give and take.
One of the contractors that American Home Shield sent out sucked. It was Pipeworks. The guy didn't wanna do his work. He came out there making every excuse in the world not to figure it out. Other guys came right out there after him and figured it out. So that showed me that he was lazy and didn't wanna do any work. The girl who recommended Pipeworks was great and passionate about it. She was not satisfied with what they did and she had somebody else come out. I didn't even have to initiate that and that kept me from paying another $100. Baker was great though and I would recommend him to come back out for the next service I ever have.

Air Rescue Mechanical was great. We have three units and they have been out on a couple of different occasions. They fixed the issues and we haven't had any problems with either the units since. They're quick too. Also, we haven't had any trouble with American Home Shield. It's been really good. We had a different home warranty company to begin with, but we had a really bad experience with them. We came into this policy with preconceived notions and a bad general belief about what it was going to be like, but it has been a lot better than what we expected it would be.
With our previous company, we had an AC unit go out, and the condenser coil in the attic had to be replaced. We paid to have someone come out and we were told after that previous company paid their portion, we still owed $1,100. That's why we were skeptical, but we haven't had any issues like that with American Home Shield. We also have an open claim right now and it seems to be going well. All in all, the process is straightforward and they text us with updates. With the open claim, they let us know that the parts have been delivered.

I've been with American Home Shield for about four years and I've recommended my family members to have their coverage. I usually make a phone call to submit a claim. But this time I asked my mother to make the call because I was on hold for 20 minutes. I could go online and do it, but I just didn't have the time. So I just called my rep and told her that the request was for my mother who was 86 years old and that it had been three weeks and that it was already getting to be in the hundreds. So my rep helped me with it. I've had the same issue at my house when we went from winter to springtime this year. I called the claims person and it was a 20-minute hold. But everything had been fine in both cases, my house and my mother's house.
Heart of Texas AC and Heating came out to the house where my mother was and they were super nice. The AC in there was low on Freon and they put Freon in it. A couple of days later, it still wasn't cooling. So they came out and fixed whatever it was. Both times, They were not there very long and they were very courteous. Now, the AC is working. I had Blizzard Air come out and did mine and they were okay. But there was an electrician that had to do something and they were just back and forth blaming each other for stuff. But I really like Heart of Texas who has done my mother's house. I'm a real estate broker and I'm telling my agents to request them.

This time, it’s going on three years that we've restarted the contract. They offered the roof and that's one reason we continued the policy. But I think we're gonna discontinue it. American Home Shield has put a limit on things now. If your HVAC goes out, they have a limit of $2,000 now. Our contract per year to include the roof is costing us $1,400. The first claim I filed was for a septic issue and I ended up having to get my own independent contractor. When I called the contractor that AHS gave me, they said that they no longer did work for AHS because of a payment issue.
Then, when my water heater died and I called the contractor that AHS gave me. I called them on a Monday and they told me they couldn't get to me until Friday. I had to go without water all week. I asked the contacts at AHS if there was any way I could get another contractor out to my house sooner since I didn't have any hot water and they said they could put me on a pre-approval for my independent contractor, but then that could take 24 to 48 hours. And at that point, once I call my own contractor, depending on how far they're booked, they could be out here on Friday anyway. Other than that, customer service-wise, AHS has been very responsive. Joe Lay & Sons who came out for my water heater was amazing. I even called their company and made a formal compliment after the services were rendered.

Something slipped and hit my toilet bowl and it cracked. So he gotta order one. He was supposed to come back and fix the pipe in the shower but never gotten him back. That was a while ago. I did not contact American Home Shield because I tried to call the guy and find out what was going on. The secretary said they were still ordering the stuff. I don’t like to make waves but they never get back to me. Other than that, I had a great experience with American Home Shield. The tech that came out from City First Electric was great.

The issue was on the pool equipment. The pump seal had a leak. So, the guy from Expert Pools got a new seal in. Everything's fixed between 30 minutes and an hour. He was very good. The service with American Home Shield was very quick. I called, and the contractor was here the next day and fixed it. So, everything was really good.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

We figured out that the AC wasn't working at four o'clock in the morning. A-US Air Conditioning called me by that afternoon, and then the guy was there the next day and he fixed it on the first visit. We have used them before in the past, and if it’s a part that they don't have with them, they usually have to order it and it takes a little while. But this time, it was very quick and he fixed it right away, so it was great. He is really good. I enjoy him coming out. Always the same guy so I know what to expect. However, Home Shield should have more contractors in the area because it seems like that guy comes from quite a distance to come fix my AC.
The summer months were really hot, and our compressor went out. They had to order a part. We waited two weeks for them to fix it. During that time, we had to use portable ACs because it’s Texas and it’s hot. But other than that, the company is great. It just seems if you have to have any kind of parts ordered, it's a really slow turnaround, but they always fix it. They always make me feel comfortable. We're two women that live in a house ourselves so that’s important to us when men come into our house. The guys that Home Shield have always sent out have been very professional and just do their job. Home Shield saved us a lot of money over the years. They always fixed everything they have been sent out to fix. When I first started, it was $50 for the co-pay. Now it's 75, but it has been very beneficial for us.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

The compressor didn’t work on my AC for some reason. Submitting the claim with AHS was easy and usually, it takes 24 hours lead time to get a contractor out, which is reasonable, but I got lucky that day because I got a contractor on the same day, which was great. The techs fixed the issue and it took them half an hour to do it. They were very good. AHS was also very good and I'm happy with them so far.

The motor was not working on one of my pool pumps. I submitted the claim with Home Shield online and the website was easy to navigate. Then, I was informed that a contractor has been assigned and I called the contractor the very next day. Emerald Pools came out and their work and professionalism were excellent. The pool pump has been functioning very well.
But I have a claim right now and I can't even get anyone out to my home. I've been lied to and then I was canceled on. I've tried to call Home Shield and it's an hour-and-a-half phone call wait and I can't stay on the phone because I'm working. When I let them know about my issue, usually, someone tries to get another contractor there, but I have to be very specific about it that I don't want this previous contractor out again because they didn't do anything. And it creates a longer wait time for whatever problem we have to be fixed or addressed. The last contractor I had for my air conditioner never showed as well. All the cons I've had are issues with vendors and I feel like there's no support from Home Shield.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

There was a miscommunication about what was covered by Home Shield versus what we had to pay out of pocket. We had to reschedule a couple of times to make sure we had the money that they were requesting from us. But they were nice about it. They explained to me what their policy was so there wasn't really an issue. We got that scheduled and AMP Mechanical came out and installed the AC a couple of weeks ago.
The guy forgot his tools at the last site but he came back faster than expected and was finished faster than what he told me. He said to give them a call and they would come back out and fix it if we have any problems within the first 30 days. But it works wonderfully. They said it should take up to 24 hours to get it to the temperature that we wanted in the house and it took less than 12. I'm enjoying Home Shield's service and I'm kind of relieved. I know they have some stuff we have to pay for but it's more convenient having them. It saves us a lot of estimates and Home Shield knows the reputable people that are out here.

The tech from Rogers Heating & Air came out for my AC claim with Home Shield. It was nice and cool when I got home but then the next morning, I tried to click it off and it wouldn't go off. It kept running. The tech had to come back out. I texted back and forth with him because I was at work and I don't have a direct line. The tech let me know 30 minutes before they got here. They did a really good job. The unit has been working ever since and I'm very happy with it. I’m so grateful.
The only thing is I've been trying to find a licensed electrician to come out because I have a work order for that. Home Shield sent me an email and said that I had to call and make an appointment with some Levi Electric. They gave me the number and I called and left a message with him. He never got back so I called again but the mailbox was full so I texted. I never heard anything. Then, I had to wait online for an hour just to talk to somebody about that and the rep said they didn't send that email. He asked for the work order number so I told him and he said that was a right work order number. I told him the name that was on it and it said I needed to contact the person to make an appointment. I told him I hadn't been able to get ahold of that person and he said that I would have to find my own contractor.
He gave me a list of the people that Home Shield doesn't use and I had to find my own person to come out. I've been calling around and I haven't found one yet. He said once the contractor finds out what the problem is, the electrician or I have to call and tell Home Shield what they found and if they will go ahead and replace it, then Home Shield will reimburse me.

My heater wasn’t heating the way it should have been. I've had it for 10 years. I called Home Shield and they sent the contractor out. The technician walked in, asked where the heater was and I told him. He opened up something on it, tuned around, came back and said, ‘It’s all okay. No problem. Your ground is 30 amps current on it.” I said, “No. Wait a minute. There’s something wrong.” He said, “No. It’s running that much. You’re okay.” I said, “Look. I know the heater. I know that it’s not working right. There’s something wrong with it.” He did not think there was. I said, “Well, how about checking it farther than what you checked it? ‘Cause I know something’s wrong with it.”
He went back and sure enough, there were a couple of relays that were open and consequently, they were not heating the elements that they were connected to. He wasn’t angry, but he wasn't too pleased because I made him wrong. He went back, fixed the heater, turned around and walked out. He didn’t say anything. That’s not the way a service person works. I was in the service industry for 50 years and I just don’t want them back anymore. On the other hand, the last one, Rescue Your Air, was really good. They did a really good job on what I called them out for. I would take them back anytime.
We call Home Shield and tell them we got a problem and what it is, and they say they will get somebody on it. They rotate between several different service providers and they contact one of them back, and whoever it is contacts us and sets up the time, then comes out and does the service. What happened recently was the first time I've had somebody that Home Shield sent out that provided poor service. The unfortunate part is the company is represented by a service person and the service person is the face of the company. If they do a poor job, then the company shows up as a poor job. But I’ve been with Home Shield for 10 years and I'm very happy with their service. They normally send out a good company like Greenway. They do a good job when they come out. It’s just a matter of the technician that gets the job than the companies themselves.
I have recommended Home Shield to several people. It’s expensive, but less expensive than what could be. I had a dishwasher go bad. Home Shield replaced it with a very good model. I had heater problems and Home Shield did a good job of providing service on the heater. I had a hot water heater burst and flooded my neighbor’s unit. They fixed the water problem over on my side and replaced the unit.

Bright Construction came out and it was perfect. The technician had on a mask and I even had one on as well. He stood back at the door while we talked and I told him what was going on. He told me to go in the house and turn my air on, and he would deal with it from there. The next time he rung the doorbell, it was fixed. He said some line had burned and he replaced that line. Within a couple hours, our house was cold.
Any time it comes up about a home warranty, we always recommend American Home Shield. My mother and I were talking about them and we were both in agreement that each time we've had to reach out to them in order to get some repair work done, we were satisfied. My hot water heater would randomly go out. One day I would have hot water and then it would be fine a few days later or for a few days. It would run out of hot water again and then, it would be fine the next day. So, I had Kintex Plumbing check it. On the first visit, everything was great. We did not have the issue the day the guy came out. I told him we had hot water all day. It was a Wednesday when I called in and that was the day we did not have hot water. He came on Friday and when he got here, he checked everything, and it was fine. So, he left.
My utility bill had gone up $80. When I called FPL, they said that it could be the problem I was experiencing with my hot water heater. They said I should call the company back out and have them take a look at it again. So, I called the contractor back out and they looked at it again. He replaced two components and since then, it has been okay. I had a water softener system replaced at my house and I was telling the water softener guy about the issue with the water heater and he is going to come back sometime next week to check for overloads of iron in the water, to see if that’s causing the hot water heater to malfunction.
I've had two claims with American Home Shield. The first one wasn't exactly the best experience but they ended up getting it fixed. So I'm satisfied now. The last time with the hot water heater, the company, Kintex, was very professional. But when I called to talk to a customer service representative, I was on hold for hours at a time and never got to speak with a live person. Sometimes I would push random buttons in the queue and I would get sales people. You could get them right away but I have never been able to get through to a customer service rep since I started with them.

The water heater erupted and the water was all over everywhere. My husband had towels trying to absorb some of the water so we wouldn't get mold. The hot water tank is in the attic and the water came all down the walls. The contractor came out and they installed a water heater. We have a hot water now. I can now take showers in the master bedroom. In addition to that, we had a leakage from my daughter's bathroom which is over my kitchen. So whenever she used the stall shower, water was coming down from the ceiling. It messed up the ceiling in my kitchen.
After the plumber finished with the water heater because he knew it was gonna be various things that he had to check after the hot water pump, he asked us to turn the water on in the shower. He told us to turn it off because the water came pouring down. The stucco came all down. Once the water dried up, I had to sweep it up because that was how much residue was on the floor in the kitchen. So he took pictures of that. Then there was another spot which was over the sink in the kitchen. You could see spots in there as well and also in the family room because that whole upstairs is over the family room and the kitchen. I'm still waiting for the plumber to get the approval from AHS so he can come back out. But so far, I've had a good experience with AHS because I love the way they took care of everything and the professionalism of priority. They were very sincere. They didn't play around.

I had noticed what appeared to be ash coming out of an outlet when I removed the plug from it. It had a ground fault interrupter outlet kind of backing. I stopped using the outlet. I tried to book the service online with American Home Shield but the online connection told me that my account was not active when, in fact, it was. I then called the home warranty and they sent out Ampac. Their tech replaced the outlet that was damaged and he gave me a little bit of information about what should be running that outlet, which was really helpful since the appliance I had plugged in did not give me that information. He also checked the other outlet. He was very pleasant, thorough, and did a good job.
American Home Shield is pretty easy to use. I've had four or five service calls, any of which would undoubtedly have cost more than the $75 that I paid for them. From that aspect, the home warranty has been worth it for the peace of mind. Also when I first got the service, I was new to the area and didn't know the service providers. To have a company that had dealt with electricians, plumbers, and so forth was reassuring.

The AC shut off before a heat wave. We found out it tripped a breaker. We were able to turn it back on before the guy came out, but he called quickly and said, "It tripped the breaker for a reason, so I should come out and check it anyway." This happened on a Friday, we got connected on a Saturday, he came a Sunday morning early. The tech did a few things to help it. It's a really old air conditioner. Most people haven't seen it before. It's that old. It looks like it's from the TV show MASH. The tech said, "Well, the motor's working, we did put some caps. If it gets hot, hose it a bit and it'll help continue the life." It went wonderfully with the service. The AC is on its last legs. At some point, it probably would be replaced. Everything was done well. However, I've had other experiences that weren't as favorable.
We have a Bosch dishwasher and not everyone services that. I waited a month to have someone come look at it. And then they never even did it or they said they would say that called technicians to find someone who works on that kind of machine. Then the person would call, "Oh, we don't work on that machine." So from when it goes to Home Shield to calling techs, there can be a bit of a delay or a breakdown. They did refund me the $75 service fee, but it's still a hassle.
I'm an actual real estate agent and I sell the home warranties, at times. I sell a home warranty when I sell a house, or I give someone the opportunity to buy one. I have the contact information of the service rep for my area. If I had an issue, I would contact him and just say, "I need this to be dealt with." My experience through the platform is not as favorable. I feel like I have a backdoor to a better service, an access that not everyone necessarily has. I don't know if that's true, but after my last little fiasco, I go through him directly to fix everything.
It's interesting because they would ask you to upload what kind of devices, and I would take photos, serial numbers and name brands. But those don't get translated. "What device is it?" "I've already sent this." There's a disconnect. And then, maybe a turnaround time as far as once they assign it, what happens after that? It's run with the ball. My I understanding how the whole business works is they find someone who will work, like an in-network doctor, they're, "Hey, you're gonna go do this at our price." And whatever that is, it's probably a discounted price. And if people don't wanna do that, then that's why they're having difficulty at times to find a technician.
And then after a certain day, if I haven't been contacted or haven't had someone out here by a certain time period, it would not always be possible with technicians, if 48 hours, if I have nobody contacted, had the appointment set, followed up, I should be allowed to call my own guy. And that can get sticky. That would hold them accountable. Beyond that, we are satisfied with Home Shield.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

Everything went great with Reliable Garage Doors. What I noticed if we had a power outage and I had to manually lift the garage door up, it didn't stay up. I had to get my neighbor to hold it up so I could get my car out. The guy said I got a spring that broke. He fixed that and gave me two better car door remotes. He said it's on my plan. He explained to me what the other button was for which I had no instructions on it on my other one. He had his helper in here too and they had their masks on.
I had an issue with my water heater so I called American Home Shield and DMB Plumbing came out. The guy thoroughly took the covers off the water heater, checked it out, and run his little test on it. He said it was okay. They opened up the electrical panel on the fuse box. The circuit breaker was off for the water heater so it kicked it off. He said if that happens again, I need to get the circuit breaker checked. A month later, it happened again. The circuit breaker went off so I called to get an electrician out here. He came and checked the circuit breaker. He said it was strong. He checked in on the water heater, same thing that the plumber did, and said my water was set at boiling. It was making my water heater work too hard. He set the temperature at a decent one. I told him I never saw any dials or anything to check it and he said it's inside that panel. They told me not to open the panel myself because it is a highly charged. I wouldn't have known.
So far, everything's been okay. My problem was why didn't that guy from DMB Plumbing catch it? He was looking at the same panels that that guy did and didn't say one thing. That ticks me off. My toilet needed fixing just last week so I requested a different plumber which I got. He came out and fixed it. But at the time, when I made the call to American Home Shield, I told him about the incident with the water heater. I said if that circuit breaker never goes off again, I should get my $75 service fee back because this might not have happened again if he would've lowered the water temperature or even let me know what the water temperature was. American Home Shield said they don't do that. I said I'm waiting for a month out from when the electrician came out to check the circuit board before I call and raise Cain with American Home Shield about that.
Overall, I feel good about American Home Shield. I'm in an older place that is why I'm having American Home Shield and it'll be going on two years in October that I've had them. They've been very beneficial especially this year. I asked the plumber that came and the toilet just needed the flapper. I probably could've done it, but I've never done it and I don't have a guy here to do it. I asked them how much would that have cost if I didn't have American Home Shield and he answered $175. That saved me 100 bucks.

I came home and heard a bearing chatter coming from a fan or the compressor. It's an older AC and the motor capacitor which controls both units was going out and was letting very low voltage go. It was still working but I didn't want it to go out because it's August in Vegas. I called in to American Home Shield, put the order in, and their contractor came out. They were out for about 30 minutes. They went through and made sure the freon was good. They serviced it, replaced the part and it worked.
For the AC, the claims process was great. For my microwave, I don't think I'm ever gonna put a claim for a microwave because I'm about 85 days into trying to get a new one. It took them about 65 days after the replacement order from the technician was put in to finally get it to somebody over here and get one ordered. They delivered me the new microwave and it is bad. Now, I have to go through the third party company to reach back to GE to do a warranty claim on the new bad microwave. That one's been kinda irritating.
I was on hold with American Home Shield over about a 15-day period, total time, 27 hours and 32 minutes and never talked to anybody. It was about 20 days that I had a callback. They gave me an option for callback. They gave me a real estate lady that deals with real estate agents and she was great. She stayed online with me for about an hour and worked, talking to people, and finally come to find out, they had sent me an email. I was told that they were gonna call me. After that, we kind of worked through the process. Now I'm still waiting on my microwave and it sucks because I'm getting ready to sell so I'm trying to get this stuff going.
Calling American Home Shield has always been a problem. Unless you do the claim online, getting ahold of somebody is always a 30 to 40-minute hold time. Sometimes, they give you the option for the callback, but that's intermittent. Sometimes, you'll be on hold for three hours and never have any option or anybody answering, you just hang up. Sometimes, you're on the call for 10 minutes, and then it comes on and like, "If you would like to have a callback, please press one. If not stay on the line." That would be cool because at least I can go do whatever I need to do and they're gonna call me back at any time.
Other than that, I've never had a problem. I'm upset because of my microwave but I can understand it is what it is so I'm not gonna down the company. They've done great things, their prices are good and their contracts cover a lot of different things. They have a lot of different plans that cover different things and meet your needs depending on what you want. I've got two people in my shop to go with American Home Shield.

The icemaker and the water dispenser weren't working. The guys from Affordable Appliance Repair thought they figured out the first time and it was only a temporary fix. So the second time they came out, I had a better understanding of it, and they were able to fix it within 30 minutes. There was only one issue though. They were repairing during the coronavirus. They didn't come to the door with their mask on so I asked them after they came inside to go back and get their mask, and they did. They put them on. But I thought it was policy that everybody that comes to your house were coming in with the mask on. Other than that, American Home Shield did pretty good. Overall, they cover everything.

I called AHS to submit a claim for a refrigerator of mine which had water leaking from the bottom. It took me a whole month to get my refrigerator fixed. I could never get in contact with the first contractor AHS sent out. He would send a text back when I called saying he would call me at a later time but he would never call. I had to call AHS and resubmit another claim. Then, it took the technician sent by AHS from Lowe's two weeks to come out. While was friendly and he was able to fix the issue that same day, I was very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. I'm paying money every month but I didn't get very good service.

One of the gears broke in the motor opener of the garage door. I called American Home Shield and the guy from Greene County Garage Doors called me back that day. He came and looked at it, and two days later, it was fixed. He was amazing. He followed all kinds of good protocol for mask and gloves and he was very professional in his work. With American Home Shield, I like the expediency of getting things fixed. We've only had to call them twice, but they took care of both things, the second thing quickly. The first thing was a pain in the neck, but that wasn't their fault. It was the contractor they dealt with. American Home Shield is a really good company and we're pleased.

It's been relatively easy for us to submit a claim. I request the service I need online and pay for the professional to come out. They usually call relatively quick. If not, then I call whatever business it is and schedule the time and they come out and replace or repair it, whichever the case needs. When the heating element on my dryer went out, the guy that they sent out was nice. He even came out and replaced the heating element on a Saturday. It took several days to get the part but that was no fault of his own. That's just current world circumstance. The parts for dryers and washers are a little harder to come by right now. But I appreciated him coming out on a Saturday more than anything. Most companies wouldn't have done that.
My only little thing is if you have a top-end appliance that you paid several thousand dollars for and it goes out and it can't be repaired and it has to be replaced, American Home Shield gives you some good options but they don't exactly replace it with the same appliance. If they will replace it with the same appliance, then you have to pay an additional difference between what they'll cover and what the appliance costs. So sometimes, it can be a little tricky.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

The outside external fan would keep going but then the AC that's inside the closet inside of the house kept turning off. I could see the external fan was going but the inside fan, no air was coming out. So the gentleman showed up and he literally fixed it within an hour and a half. He checked it and was super professional and was very nice. He went right up to the fan, tried to turn it on and then he ended up taking it apart and said that it was the motor. He went and took the motor with him to get it replaced. He came back and fixed it and it works perfectly. It works better than it did before. He said that the motor was most likely the original motor that came with the house. So when he replaced the motor, the unit that's inside the closet is now quieter and the output is stronger. So it definitely fixed the problem.
I had a little bit of issue at the beginning with scheduling somebody to come out. The first contractor that AHS assigned to help me wasn't going to be able to come out until four days later. In Sacramento, it easily gets up to 100 and it gets up to 90 degrees inside the house. I have somebody who lives with me who's diabetic and has health conditions. I also have pets and kids inside the house. So I called American Home Shield back and let them know we couldn't have that. Thankfully, they were able to schedule an emergency appointment and somebody showed up an hour later. I was very happy and very thankful that they sent somebody out and was able to get it fixed really fast.

I lost my air conditioning on Friday night and filed a claim on Saturday. American Home Shield couldn't get the claim to Comfort Pros until Monday. Then they didn't come out till Wednesday. They sent me a tracking number to follow for when the guy would be here. He was here exactly when they said. But that was two weeks ago. Two weeks in and with the humidity in my house, you could drop dead from it. Then we also had a blackout and a tropical storm.
The technician found what was wrong with the air conditioning. Then they had to wait for American Home Shield to authorize it. It usually takes three of four days for American Home Shield to get whatever part I need for whatever appliance. Because of COVID, everything was being held up with the ordering and they couldn't get the parts. I also had American Home Shield send somebody out for my toilet bowl because it was flushing by itself. It needed a rubber gasket and it took a week to get on. The guy went to Home Depot and they were out of it. The plumbing supply was out of it. They had to order that part and wait as well. But Comfort Pros is a really nice company. They're the only company I've ever worked with American Home Shield, and I've been with them for 20 years. American Home Shield has helped me out a lot. They've replaced quite a few things for me like the washing machine and refrigerator. All my friends have them too.

I saw the advertisement on TV for American Home Shield and I called them. I listened to everything they had to say and it sounded like it was a reasonable program to have. So, I signed up with them and I've not had any problems. Then on the 4th of July weekend, while I was doing my laundry, my washer would fill up and wouldn't stop filling up. So, I attempted to call AHS. But because it was a holiday weekend, I figured I wouldn't get through. Then, I went online. They gave me instructions to go online and fill out everything, which I did and the submission process was pretty easy. They got back in touch with me that Tuesday and told me who was going to be coming out to service my washer. And when I contacted the people to give them the information, they called me back and we set up an appointment.
When the tech came out, he looked and said that he needed this particular part. He had to order the part and we had to wait for it. Then, when the part came and he put it in, we tested the washer and it looked like it was going to work. He also did some tests but he tested on small loads. When he left, I decided to do a little laundry and lo and behold, I turned it to a large load then it filled up and it wouldn't stop. So, I sent him a message and told him about it. The next day, he came back out and looked at it. And when he checked it, it did the same thing.
So, he said that he couldn't figure it out. He called the company and told them that he didn't have a clue as to what was wrong because it looked like the sensor was bad, but then he just put the new part in there for the sensor and that didn't fix the problem. Then, I got a message that they would be replacing the washer. Yesterday, someone called me, got the measurements and stuff of the washer, and said that they will be getting in touch with me to let me know what will happen next.
We are grateful for the time that you've taken to share you AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regards to your warranty. Have a great week.

What AHS has done well is getting somebody out here expeditiously. The part that's more difficult is trying to make the initial consults or claim, just because the person that's on there is English-challenged. It’s very difficult sometimes to explain stuff to them ‘cause their vocabulary’s limited. So, therefore, they don't understand some things when you're trying to explain it to them. Sometimes there ends up being a miscommunication where, because of the language barrier, they typed the wrong stuff in there or they've sent out for the wrong kind of claim. And we've had to call the contractors here on the spot for the clarification. But AHS is a great company. I don’t hold it against them because somebody is English-challenged. The contractors have been great as well.

American Home Shield gave us a coupon of $150 towards our premiums. For every month we pay premiums, we can use $150 towards our premiums. There was another $75 coupon they gave which we can use for one of the service requests if we want to. They gave it to us on July 2nd. American Home Shield used to charge us $50 or $55 per month in 2019, but they started charging $75 this January. I was planning to open a service request in July because our microwave was not working. When I went in, my husband asked how much were we paying each month. I told him that it was supposed to be $50 or $52. Then he said they were charging us $75. I asked him to go back to the bills and then we found that from January, we had been automatically charged to our credit card $70. It was supposed to be $50. When I called them, they said they sent us an email that they were increasing our premium of the year.
They said that our premium used to be $600 but not it's $800 and that they sent an email about it. This might be true because I get a lot of AHS emails every week. I told them that I didn't go through their emails but this was unfair. Instead of $50, they're charging us $80. While we were talking, one of the ladies said, "Okay, if you want to keep staying with us, I'm going to give you $150 coupon to use towards your premiums and another $75 to use towards your service request." The total together was $220 worth, so my 850 was going to come around 650, which was fine. So I said okay to them.
When I had to create a service request the next day, I told them that I have $75 coupon and asked if I could use it. They said I could use it and that they were applying it. But then they did not apply it. They did not even create the service request. I had to call them the next day and another lady said that our service request was not even created completely. She created it and she said she will be using the coupon. She said she used the coupon, so I did not pay the $75. Then in the postal mail, we got that I have to pay $75. I called them again yesterday and told them that they said they were using the coupon that they offered me so why should I pay? The lady told me that it was taken care on 27th of July. The bill that was sent to us was 19th of July. She told me to not worry about it and to ignore that charges.
The contractors are good. Axis Appliance came recently to fix the microwave. The guy who came was really good. He came with a mask. This company is good. I had good experience. Even the air condition guy who came recently was not a problem at all. He said he didn't have to do much. The unit was a little bit low on Freon and he fixed it very quickly. But last year, one of the guys who came to do something with the leakage under the sink did not do well. I still have the leakage. There is water leaking whenever I turn on the switch of the sink. It messed up the cabinets. I had to put a liner but each time I'm wiping the liner.
When the contractor came, they said it was all not related. They changed the sink faucet but it was too small. It was very inconvenient. I was getting so much back pain, so my husband and I went to Lowe's and bought $150 worth of the new faucet. We called them and said that the faucet they gave us was not enough. It was so low and it was on my way. I cannot put any big pots and containers in the sink. It was hard to argue with them.
American Home Shield doesn't do 100% good job on our complaint because the technician of the company that they're sending is given the instructions to do it with the minimum cost. I had another claim where they have to change the whole door of the microwave. But the tech only changed the handle of the microwave. I told them that the door is so loose and sometimes it's not turning off the light. Then the handle came off within two months. They told us that it was over a month and that I have to create another service request which is another $75 for me.

I've been with American Home Shield quite a while and the service is fantastic but the last service call was a nightmare. It took me almost a month to find a resolution with these guys. I called in for my refrigerator and they gave me a company called KC. They gave me a number which nobody answered. You could dial and be on call for three, four hours. Finally, they called me back. They gave me an email for another company called Adept. I tried to call, call, call. Finally, they called me and said we got an appointment at so and so time and either take it or leave it. That was the attitude.
They gave me a window between 3:00 and 5:00. Nobody picked up at 5:00. The guy reached us at about 6:00. Either he was socially awkward or high. He sat behind the fridge and I had to move the fridge and the fan fell off. He opened the back and I said it looked like the fan was the problem. The motor was making a weird sound like a tractor. I said it looked like that motor was gone. Even a non-tradesman can tell the sound of a motor. It's that simple. He said, “No, that’s not it.” He switched it off and started again. 40 minutes later, he took the fan and put it back but didn't stick it in. He said “Let’s just switch it on. It will reset everything and everything should be fine.” I said, “But you got the fan in your hand. That motor, you can use a motor unit. It's simple. That's why I called in the first place.” He said, "I'll report it in and we'll have to change the motor.” I had to tell him what problem was. Otherwise, he was just gonna close it and go away. That's when the nightmare started.
One week went by and there was no response from these guys as to what was going on. I phoned and they said whatever nonsense was going on. They said to send them an email and I got an email address. I sent an email. They said they were busy and there was a truck coming in which was loaded with three containers of parts and my part should be somewhere in there.
One week went by again. I emailed again and said, “Either you fix the stuff or tell the warranty company you cannot do it because now it's coming on to two weeks since I reported issue.” They never fixed it. I was working with ice boxes and coolers and getting ice and all nonsense like that. They said, "I've got my guy. I’ve only got one person working and they’re going to look at the thing.”
Another week went by. Now it’s week number three. I email again and there was no response. All of a sudden, I was driving home on a Saturday from work and I got a call from the warranty company to say, “Okay, we want measurements of your opening where your fridge is sitting.” I said, “You've got the refrigerator. You've got the model number. You've taken a picture of the numbers. The model, the serial number, everything is on there. I don't know what else you need from me.” My son was at home and we made a three-way call. My son measured the size of the opening for them.
I was trying to get her to get ahold of the warranty people but nobody at American Home Shield picked up. I was on the call eight o’clock in the morning up to one o’clock. I just sat with my phone. I got two phones. It just kept going on a loop to say, “We’re very busy. Please bear with us.” Normally you have a number to say you are in a waiting queue and to press this number and somebody will call you back. There was none. At the end of the day, I got an e-mail from them to say what they were offering me for my fridge. Either they give me a card and I can go to Home Depot and get a refrigerator, or take the cash and go buy my own refrigerator.
That thing was nowhere near what the stuff was worth. It’s a 25-cubic foot refrigerator. For the price they offered me, there’s no way you can get that on the market. With what they offered me, I could get one of the small bar fridges in the corner. Eventually, I went to one of these places and got one, and that was it. Spending three days, four days, weeks chasing these guys was not working for me. I was wasting my time chasing these people and they wouldn’t even come on the phone. Finally I just got an e-mail to say, “This is what you’re gonna do.” I’m extremely disappointed.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

Other homeowners were telling us how great of an insurance American Home Shield could be and we decided to get one. We live in Las Vegas and when our AC stopped working, it was horrible. Our AC was coming on and it was blowing air, but the air was not cold air. It was 113 the day that our AC went out and we all slept in the living room that night. We had to go buy a little portable AC unit, so we all huddled around the little portable AC unit. Still, we survived that hot and humid day. We called American Home Shield, talked to somebody and then they sent A-1 the next day. The guy who came was great. He was early, which I appreciated, and he was able to fix the problem on the spot. I called American Home Shield and when spoke to somebody, the one I talked to was very nice. Greenway Home Services then called and said when they would be out. It was supposed to be from 1:00 to 5:00, but then they got here at 6:30. I wasn't upset about that, but I was surprised that they stayed that long and worked past 5:00. It was hot as blazes that day as well and they were probably incredibly busy. I didn't expect the technician to come after 5:00 and he did. Bless his heart. I know he was absolutely worn out and he had to work outside. I felt so bad. He was a very nice guy too. He walked my husband through what he did and he got our air conditioner fixed. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas was good. They did the job of a plumber. Originally, I called a plumber because I thought it was a leak in the pipe. The plumber should have caught it. But the guy from A-US went ahead and cleared the pipe and he did a good job. He took a compressor and blew out the drain, which the plumber should have done. But they passed it off to the AC guy. As far as American Home Shield, they're a warranty company and there are a lot of bureaucracy involved. They're very hard to get a hold of, and the website’s pretty clunky. So, they could give better communication. But at the end of the day, it has saved us a little money.

Total time at my house was 12 minutes. He gave a write-up of over $700 dollars which AHS used to deny my claim. After 2 more lengthy calls I got through to the customer solution people that agreed to send a second vendor which did a thorough investigation and guess what now it is covered. Original call on 7/16/2020 and as of today 8/6/2020 the part is still not here. Not sure why I have a home warranty with these people as the support and responses are severely lacking. I have had the worst experience. I would give them zero stars if I could and am shocked they have such a high rating on this site. I made a service call for my A/C on June 9th 2020, today is August 6 and just yesterday I got approval for a $579.00 cash out to “fix” it. The service man that came out tried a repair, I called them back out because it was still leaking and he said I need the system replaced. I have spent the last 2 months going in circles to get the authorization for them to tell me I refused replacement of my system and will only pay for the repair. That is not true and all I want to to have my A/C replaced. I’m in Texas and it is summer and the pandemic so my daughter and I are home and it is not possible to just stay with friends or family.
I purchased this service to be covered from expensive repairs. I need a replacement but they will not authorize it. No one calls me back-not even once and every phone number takes you to the same system where I have spent hours on hold only to reach someone who reads from a script, can’t help me, won’t transfer me or even drops my call. To say I am frustrated is an understatement. It is fraudulent the way they are doing business. The air handler alone is over $1,000. They only are paying out $560 for the part and the other $19 doesn’t cover the labor or refrigerant as covered or the proper repair of replacing the entire system.
The service man said if they just replace the air handler the old R-22 refrigerant and old from my condenser will mix with the new refrigerant and old and the 10 year warranty on the part will be void. EPA guidelines do not allow them to use the same R-22 refrigerant any more and the entire system need replaced. All I want the the system to be replaced and the warranty states replacement is covered under these circumstances. It seems like the company has me going in circles intentionally. There is no way to email them and any number I have found leads to the same system where I have literally spent hours on the phone. No other way to communicate.
I resorted to Twitter to reach someone with the company- Please check it out- day after day of desperate customers dealing with this company and lashing out through social media only to be ignored or get some lame reply and nothing resolved. I will be canceling and advise you to save the money you would spend with American Home Shield every month in a separate account to pay out of pocket for repairs and sleep well at night unlike me up in the middle of the night losing sleep over this company.

I was a customer of 13 years with this company and never needed their services to replace a large item (hot water heater) until recently. Every time I contacted the company I had over an hour wait to get assistance. I took 7 days for the contractor to place me on the schedule to assess the problem. Once he came out and charged the service fee and verified it was the hot water heater he had to send the information to his company and they would forward it to AHS. This took 2 additional days. Only to be told I had to pay $900 in out of pocket fees in addition to $100 service fee and the $800 AHS would pay towards the repairs.
I called another plumber for a quote and he did the entire job for $650. I called AHS and expressed my frustration with their selection of poor contractors that over price their customers and ended my 13 year relationship. I was charged a $42 fee for leaving the company. Overall they were HORRIBLE and I would recommend other companies that value their customers.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield has been simple. You get online and type in what your problem is, and then they'll call you in about an hour. The AC wouldn't stay cold, so it just ran non-stop and it would get to about 85 degrees. The technician came out, cleaned something off, fixed a bunch of stuff and ran some more charge in the unit. It has been working since. When the pool filter needed to be fixed though, it took over a month to get the part. The technician said he was waiting for it to come in. Then, he told me that he was going to come out and install it on a Wednesday. I asked him where he was on that Wednesday and he said he had it down for Thursday. So, I told him just to drop the part off because I had to get it installed. But it was the only issue I've had with AHS.

The air wasn't flowing upstairs so, I was trying to see if the technician could check and see what we could do to get more air to flow upstairs. He opened up the vents downstairs and it did help with the bottom level, the main level and some of the top levels. But it's still a little hot in some of the rooms. They tried a remedy solution, which was good. I'm trying to gauge it to see if upstairs is getting cool because they mentioned that if it's not getting cool that they will come back out. They forgot to check the outside unit but he opened up some of the vents. The upstairs is still not as cool as I would like but they said give it a couple of weeks. The technicians were very professional. The time was supposed to be from 9:00 to 2:00 and they showed up at 2:00. The technician checked the unit and wore a mask. So, he did social distancing. I had great service and I had no issues.

I would give American Home Shield a high mark. I was with another company before. I’m much more pleased with American Home Shield than I was with Old Republic who I cancelled. I've had American Home Shield since June. I had two experiences with them. Unfortunately, my air conditioner went out. It was the compressor. They were gonna fix it. However, it was a 25-year-old unit. I told them that I didn't really want to spend money and that I thought it would go out again. So I got a new air conditioner and they reimbursed me the cost of the compressor. I did not use their company. I had been working with an air conditioner company and I had that company replace the air conditioner but AHS did reimburse me for the cost of the compressor which saved me some money and I was pleased with that.
Also, Plumbers came out for the disposal that was leaking. I called twice. The first time I called, I saw the leak and they set up an appointment for the following week. For some reason it stopped leaking but it could be because I wasn't using the disposal. The water was coming out through the disposal. I was trying not to get it to leak so it stopped. Then I started using the disposal. The dishwasher runs through there as well and water was coming down the sink but it wasn't coming outside. But then I ran the disposal and it started leaking again so I called the following week and set up the appointment again. They did come out and said, “Yeah, that was what the problem was.” They put in a new disposal.
The problem with AHS was that they did charge me even though I had cancelled the appointment and the person did not come out. The following week, when I called back, they did come out and they billed me twice according to my credit card. So I had three charges of $100 each time. They only came out once they did replace the disposal. Then I checked the credit card a couple days later, and I saw that they had removed one of the charges, but I still was being charged twice even though they had only come out once. I called American Home Shield and spoke to someone. He said he would take care of that. I looked on my credit card today and I saw that I got $100 credit back. So, I am okay with American Home Shield. They have charged me only once for the replacement of the disposal and I'm okay with them.
The disposal that they put in works fine. In fact, they put in a disposal which is the same horsepower but smaller than the one that I had, so I'm happy with that. I'm pleased with the work that was done. As far as American Home Shield, I happened to go three times calling and so forth. They did eventually fix the problem but I shouldn't have had to contact them and it’s very difficult to get through. Because of the COVID and their staffing is down, it took me a long time to get a hold of somebody. Once they did, they were terrific. They did a good job.

When I submitted the claim, AHS immediately assigned GE to me. GE sent me information that they had scheduled the appointment that they were gonna show. However, they did not show on the day that they were supposed to even though they called to confirm the appointment via an electronic voicemail. I got in touch with Home Shield and spoke with a lady on the phone. She was nice and she was gonna try to find out what was happening. She called GE and no one picked up. I told her I needed the appliance fixed right away so she scheduled with a different contractor. The contractor got in touch with me that they're gonna show. But then the day before that they were supposed to come, the GE employee showed up to fix the appliance. I wasn't even expecting them. I told the GE employee to call Home Shield and they did. In the end, the appliance was fixed.

Whenever we call for an issue, Home Shield would immediately respond and send somebody over, especially fixing small issues, but when it comes to replacing, I'm doubtful. There has been an instance when we knew the dishwasher had some issues. We called American Home Shield and they said it was still working. Similarly, the compressor on the fridge was making noise and the technician said there was no problem and it was still working. But then we had to replace it. We are paying at least $700 every year for the house. If there is a breakdown, they can easily replace it. The dishwasher is not that expensive. Other than that, it's been good with them so far.
There was a slight block in the drainage of the AC unit from condensation. A tech from J&A South Park cleaned that up and once it was cleaned, it was cooling. Also, he was wearing a mask and all that. But I asked him if he could put a tape around it and he said it was through home services and they don't do all that. He did only for what he was asked.

My wife submits the claims online, gives the credit card number, pays the deductible, and within minutes or an hour, the prescribed subcontractor sends a text or a call and it was cut-and-dried. When we moved in, there was a bad thermostat not seen by the home inspector and Mr. Cool came. Home Shield has a list of different people. They called Mr. Cool and they came out and put in a new thermostat in. It was pretty painless. Recently, the unit kept running in the middle of the night. It wouldn't get down to the thermostat set temperature. A&R Complete Service came out, adjusted something and the unit works fine now.

I had a problem with my dishwasher. The little part where it’s supposed to open up and the soap comes out was not working. AHS got ahold of whoever they needed and then those people called me and made an appointment. Fidelity Appliance Service came out and they replaced it. This time, it was fine. I had a bad experience before but it wasn't American Shield’s fault. It was the company that came in but AHS reimbursed me the $75 so that was fine. The contractor came quickly and they just had to order the part. As soon as they got the parts, they came in and had it installed within a half an hour and were gone. When I bought a new air conditioner, I kinda wished I had gone through them first. But I heard so many bad things about the home warranty, so I just did it my own. Overall, I was very satisfied.

When my ceiling leaked, I tried to call Home Shield but that was awful. I was told I would be on hold for at least 50 minutes. It seems as if Home Shield wants people to go online rather than call. There are some people who are not friendly with internet to be able to do that. If I were not here, my husband had to do it. We would be lost because he's not internet-friendly. I don't like that when you have all these call centers over in the Philippines or someplace where you can't even understand the people that you talk to. I know it's cheap labor, but we have been paying enough that they can have people over here. They need to have more call centers in the United States. It's okay when you can talk to someone that can understand you or you can understand.
When I did it online, I was told when the contractors would come out shortly. That was the first time I've ever had that happen. They came back and told me who would come out. However, Home Shield must have been getting the cheapest vendors that they can get to come out to service, and I've had several. But I was very pleased with Legum's and with the technician. My washing machine might be 30 years old. If it breaks down, Home Shield will piece it together. I know I've paid enough to buy a washing machine, but they will piece it together. I don't care how old it is and it's falling apart. They will try to find a piece for it. I was going to change to another provider, but I listened to other people talk about the home service they have. I've called other people. I say, “Oh, hell. They’re about as bad as Home Shield. So, I might as well just stick with what I’ve got."

I've been on hold for over five hours within that three-day span. The guy from 1st Class was saying that with the appliances, it’s a real long wait. I called another person from American Home Shield, the regular number, and she said they got 4,000 or 5,000 calls. But I had my water tank replaced a couple months ago and they got it done really fast, like the same day. Now, it's been about two weeks and I still haven't heard back from the replacement department. Other than that, I've been with them for about four years and it's been great.

Every time I call, it tells me that it's gonna be a three-hour wait. One day, it took at least four hours and they still didn't come. It's been a little frustrating because it's been since the 25th of July. Other than that, everything is okay. They get out in a timely manner to check the problem and then, if there is a wait time, it hasn't been that long. But this is the first time it's been as long as it has been. Then the time frame was pretty quick. The guy from Anthony Polisso Appliance Repair was here within a day and got here a little earlier than he said he would. He said that a piece was broken and he replaced that. He even said it might take 24 hours, and it took like an hour that it started working so I was very happy. Home Shield tends to never cover half of what goes on, and it's always more painful than just having someone come out and do it. I've had Home Shield for 10- plus years, but I’m over it. They're good with appliances and everything else, but with AC work, it's always painful because the contractors would come out and put patches on everything. Home Shield doesn’t really let them fix anything. I still have to get back with them about getting reimbursed for doing some of the work ourselves because they wanted way too much money. The wanted me to pay the AC company $3,600. And then, when I told them I could do it because I have a license to use Freon, the rep said, “Okay. We'll put you in touch with someone,” and it came out to be with me doing all the work. They said they would give me $800 and that was just the cost of the part. That made no sense to me. It was messy.
This time, we've had two different leaks in the house with the plumbing and Home Shield never seemed to cover half of what they were dealing. I still got a hole in the roof upstairs from the plumbing in the upstairs bathroom. And now this bathroom had an issue and it's above our kitchen, and they would have to cut out drywall in the ceiling in our kitchen. Home Shield said they wouldn't even cover it. I don’t wanna continue to pass the good word on for Home Shield and start looking for somebody else, because this has been painful.
Hi Martin,

The first time I contacted Home Shield for my plumbing issue, it took a while to get in contact with them. But that may have been my fault because I did the self portal and then the person called me from there. They were pretty prompt after I filed the claim. The first time C Mayes came out, they fixed something but a couple of days later, the noise started back up again. I called American Home Shield to get a recall. It still took some time to get back in contact with the company but it was fine once I got in contact with them. C Mayes came back out and now, I'm trying to make sure that the noise doesn't come back.
The only thing I don't like about American Home Shield is that the hold time is usually long. There was one time I was on hold for over an hour waiting to talk to somebody. Once, I called at 11 at night to try and see if the call volume would be down and there was one time I called first thing in the morning at around 8 and it was still a 50-minute hold time. And then, I have to break it down to the operator and explain what exactly is going on. But once I get through and they finally understand what I'm saying, it's usually not a problem. The first time, I had an issue with my air conditioning unit and the contractor came right away and fixed it.

The guy fixed the dishwasher and so far, so good. I'm liking American Home Shield more and more.

South Placer Heating are coming back out. They didn't fix the issue. When they first came out, they told me that the AC had no Freon. They charged me $325 and before the night was over, the air conditioning was blowing hot air again. We had a second opinion come out and they said that there is no way they should’ve put six pounds of Freon in an air conditioning system without checking for a leak, and that the evaporator coil is leaking in the attic. South Placer never even went up into my attic to check.
I haven't had air conditioning in this house for two weeks. It’s been over 100 degrees for two weeks. We've got every fan in the house and every window open. It's been miserable. The scary thing about it is I read the reviews of that company that American Home Shield kept coming out. You should read the reviews because all they say is this company wants to charge you. They wanna charge you hundreds and hundreds of dollars for Freon and then when they leave, it doesn't work. Then now, you're fighting back and forth between American Home Shield and them to try to do something to get your AC fixed.
People say they end up going to somebody else and they end up canceling American Home Shield because they're so upset about it. What's weird is that South Placer Heating and Air is not even a Better Business Bureau accredited company. I'm so surprised that a warranty company would use a company like that. Also, I did call AHS up and I told the person I talked to that I was concerned about the company after reading the reviews. He said, “What do you want me to do about it?”

We submitted a claim with AHS and they sent out Arizona Diversified Air. By far, from a lot of the companies that AHS sent us, they were the best. They said that they were going to be coming at a certain time, then they said that the tech was available early and asked if if he could come in earlier. We agreed and when the tech was here, he knew that he had to get pre-authorization beforehand for the type of air conditioner that we had. Then, I was afraid it would drag on forever, but they came right the next day. AHS accepted the work and the problem was resolved. The AC has also been functioning well since the service. But then I get a good one and I'm gonna keep it one more year. Then it goes back. The technicians from PJ Appliance showed up the exact time they said they were gonna show up. Plus, they had masks on. They came in and did the work. They needed a part to fix the dishwasher and called me to let me know when the part was available. When the part was available, they bought it to me. The time frame was great.
I also had a mishap with an issue with the toilet. The guy who came to fix it didn't do the job he was supposed to and told American Home Shield that the job was done, but it wasn't. So, I had to keep on calling back and forth to get another person out. Finally, AHS did it but they tried to charge me again for another company to come out. I let them know that the first company didn't complete the job so, the next company came back out and completed the job. That took about two weeks for that whole process to finish. So, I was without a toilet for two weeks. The first contractor was from Delaware and my service was in Maryland, so the communication wasn't too good. We have a heat pump that produces AC in the summer and heat in the winter. The heat pump failed and it's not producing AC. So, the individual from Honesty Mechanical came out. This was his fourth visit. He said one of the problems was the blower motor and they went with a universal blower motor. It did not work and it failed again. That was after the third visit. He came out today and said we're gonna have to order an original equipment manufacturer blower motor, which is much harder to get because this is a 20-year-old-plus system. The situation is in limbo because we don't have the new blower motor and the other one that he replaced it with failed because it was pulling twice as many amps as it should. So, we are in the middle of this process and we are waiting for them to get the new OEM blower motor. Hopefully, that will resolve the issue but we're not there yet.
With the AC, you can run a tower fan and it provides some relief. It's not like the dead of winter when it's freezing outside and you absolutely need your heat pump to provide heat. We're in a situation where it's AC and you can live through it, even though it gets very humid in this house and muggy. But it has been about three weeks since this started and the situation is not resolved. It is taking a while but I understand. This is the first time I've ever had a heat pump that controls either AC or heat but this is an older one. It was built in 1999 and in the world of heat pumps, that's like a century. These are no longer being manufactured so trying to get new parts for an older system is a challenge. This is the first time I'm doing this kind of claim through American Home Shield and if they cannot repair it, the next step would be to replace that heat pump. But they're still trying to fix it by getting the blower motor replaced.
We've had American Home Shield since we purchased this house at the end of January. So, we've had them now for about six and a half months and there was another claim that we called them for, which is on our policy. It was a ceiling fan in our master bedroom and that was easy. We called them up and the electrician came out. He said it was busted and he went down to Home Depot. He was back in 45 minutes and he replaced it with a new one that’s working like a charm. But that was an easy fix and this is a more complicated system.
I was happy with AHS when they did the ceiling fan but I'm not happy now because after over three weeks, I'm still dealing without AC in the summer. Although I don't use it all the time, it would be nice to be able to use it once in a while, and we can’t use it right now. It's hard for me to knock American Home Shield because the issue is with the vendor that they'd chosen and the age of the system. I'm in a situation that's still not being resolved and I could be a lot happier if I was well on my way to a resolution.

I had a friend that mentioned American Home Shield to me and I looked them up and then I chose them. When they had Quality Appliance Services come out for my service order, it was a good experience. The technician was on time and he knew what he was doing. He checked the unit out, ordered the part, and got it in a couple days later. He then came and fixed it. No issues. He was professional. The claims process was painless as well.
Josephine,
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

My friend recommended American Home Shield to me and he was happy with them, which was why I switched over. I had another one before them and AHS is doing a better job for me in the last year whenever I've had them. I submitted the claim online and it went smoothly. They sent out a contractor fast. He was there for just a few minutes and he was nice. There was nothing broken on the trash compactor and he just had to show me how to restart it. Now I know what to do if it breaks down again.
We really appreciate you taking time to share your warranty experience. We look forward to handling your future AHS needs. Have an amazing week.

When American Plumbing came out for our AC, it went great. The contractor did a good job. He came when he said he was gonna come and he went in there, did what he needed to do. I told him that every year the capacitor goes out, that we've had to have it changed. He said he did something else that would make the capacitor last longer. So he didn't just come in and do the capacitor, he tried to help. He also kept us informed of what he was doing and he did the coolant charge and said he's not gonna do paperwork on it. So, he did it for free and that's above and beyond.
AHS is good. They immediately get me assigned to somebody. The only thing is my washing machine guy that I've got going never called me. 'Cause at the same time, I had to have my washing machine fixed. I called and left a message and he texted back. Monday, the air conditioner guy came. But the washing machine guy didn't come until several days later, said that there was a part that he had to replace.
He never called. I kept texting him like, "I've got tons of laundry piling up. I desperately need to do laundry." He never answered me. So this morning, I called him at 8 o'clock and woke him up. I said, "Did the part come in? I really need to do my laundry." He said, "Yeah, it came in. If you're gonna be home today, I can do it between 11:00 and 1:00." I was thinking he's a jerk. I'm gonna let American Home Shield know they need to find somebody else. Mr. Fix It is a Not Mr. Fix It.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We had just moved into the house. After being in it for a week and a half, we noticed that our water heater wasn't working very well. I had a lot of mineral buildup in my water heater and then there was a bunch of corrosion on the outside of it. There were pumping sounds coming from it, so we filed a claim to get someone out there to have a look at it. It was very simple to submit that claim to American Home Shield. I received two emails from them, and then I responded to them and then I got in contact with J&L and it went really well. So it was only $75 to have to file the claim and get someone out there. They replaced my water heater and it was an additional $360, which is less than half of what it takes to replace the water heater. It took a week and a half from the time I filed the claim to the end. Everything was great.

The air condition unit was making a loud noise and I called American Home Shield to submit the claim. I was told to expect the contractor within 24 hours. They set it up and then, Absolute called me and set up an appointment. They were early and they finished in less than an hour. They replaced the fan motor and fixed it in a quick amount of time. Everything is good.

We noticed that we didn't have hot water so we called American Home Shield. They sent out NB Plumbing. They were kind of hard to get ahold of at first. They said on their answering machine that they had after-hours services. They didn't though. But once we were able to get ahold of them, they worked well with us and were able to get us on the schedule sooner because American Home Shield expedited it. They were able to get it done efficiently.
They checked the unit. The bottom had popped off or it exploded. It didn't get water everywhere but it wasn't able to turn back on. It was 16 years old which is a pretty good life expectancy for the older ones. And then there was a pipe that regulates the pressure coming into the home that had also gone bad. NB Plumbing did a really good job. They were very clean and they cleaned up their mess. They made sure they cleaned their shoes off before the came. They wore masks, which was really appreciated because I'm pregnant and have little kids. They also were very knowledgeable and they explained everything. They answered all my questions and we're able to get the job done. I had to wait a day or two but we already waited all weekend long, so it wasn't like that big of a deal to wait a day or two more.
The only thing is American Home Shield is really hard to get ahold of. If you go online and put in your complaint, that's great. But I wish they had more options. I'm a person that likes to take the reigns. If there's an issue, just give me the information and I'll do it. With tNB Plumbing, they were booked out unless American Home Shield put that it was an emergency. They ended up having to pay an emergency price. I wish they would give me a couple of different contractors like, “Here's three that are in network, whichever one can get it done without having emergency costs, just let us know and kinda go from there.” I feel like that would have been easier for them.
They could have just let me do kind of the run around of it and find a place that could get the work done faster. If they were gonna call a regular company, I kinda wished there were more options to get it done faster than them having to pay someone overtime. I don't even know with Coronavirus if the other places would even be either open or be able to take on that workload. It was kind of an unnecessary expense that they had to pay. I'm grateful they did it though. I needed water because with the pipe blown, we had to turn off our water.
But that was my only complaint. I ended up having to call American Home Shield and they called the contractor to see if they could get them to expedite the emergency level of it. They said they couldn't get ahold of the contractor. I was on the phone for two and a half hours with American Home Shield. I was on hold for 30 minutes with them trying to get ahold of NB Plumbing. I said, “No, I just got off the phone with them and they said that they aren't that busy.” I called my landline, called them and we has a video conference. I literally put my phones together and told them to talk things out. I couldn't deal without water. We had to go buy bottled water. I've got a one year old who is on formula still and I'm pregnant. None of us had taken a shower for three or four days. We actually took a shower the night before and it was so miserable.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.
