    My air conditioning unit was heating instead of cooling and during the winter, it was not heating. It was odd. The techs keep telling me that the unit needs to be replaced, but they don't say that to American Home Shield when they call. They just keep coming back. Last winter, because the techs kept coming but the unit never would work, I ended up running my fireplace and turning the heater off.

    Recently, I submitted another claim for my air conditioning unit. I did it online which was easy to do and my interactions with the reps of AHS was also good like it always has. But I'm not overly fond of the people who came out, GSSN. They ended up adding three pounds of refrigerant one time at $125 a pound and when somebody else came right behind them, he said it was overcharged, so he took three pounds back out. And for this last visit, GSSN charged me again for four pounds. So, every time that GSSN comes out, there's gonna be something that I have to pay for above and beyond the warranty. But for this last claim, the unit started working, so I was surprised. Still, I have to wait and see what happens when winter comes again.

    Our master bedroom ceiling fan wasn't working and I had to call American Home Shield to check if it was covered under our warranty. The rep was very helpful, and the contractor came out quickly and checked it. The tech did a great job. I was really, really pleased with the service. American Home Shield was really easy to use. I just needed to make sure that it was covered because I’m not familiar with every little thing that they do cover. But I’m really, really pleased with American Home Shield. I will make sure that it is renewed every year because they’re an awesome warranty.

    We created a claim over a month ago for our AC. After finally getting a contractor out, AHS required a part that would have to be ordered from one specific place that would take 5-7 business days to arrive. Well we’re at 14 days and still no part, per the contractor. Also, there is no shipping info available so we don’t know where it is nor when it might arrive. After speaking with AHS over half a dozen times and trying the online chat for over an hour and speaking with a supervisor, they can provide no help. Just wait until the part shows up. Meanwhile it’s over 84 degrees in my house. No customer care, no help, no service. And even though they are supposedly based in Memphis, all customer service is outsourced so you can’t speak with anyone with the power to do anything. I am seriously considering legal action.

    AHS advised me over the phone that my spa pump was indeed covered prior to me filing a claim, and then sent a contractor to my home. Being said, I pursued my claim under that notion. After sending a pool contractor to my home, they in turn advised me that it's not covered, and charge $125.00 without fixing one thing. My dispute is, I would have never spent the money to have had them out to my home if I had initially known it wasn't covered. I asked if pump was covered, the operator stated it was covered, when it was in fact not covered. Instead, they sent someone out, wasted my time, their time, declined my claim under a false pretense, and took my money. I’ve been paying them for years.

    I don't feel AHS was, or is being transparent when it pertains to this matter. Moreover, I don't feel it's within their right to take my money under these circumstances. This company doesn’t look out for their customer once they have their money. This is bad business from how I see it. Needless to say, I canceled my contract.

    We had a very BAD experience with AHS for our dryer. There is a issue with our dryer for last 4 months and it's not working properly and we filed a claim with AHS and they sent their technicians from Anytime appliances 3 times already. And every time they visit they are not able to fix the issue and suggested for replacement. As per their protocol they need to have one more opinion from different vendor (A plus installation) for replacement, and they also came and checked and suggested for replacement.

    We have made around 50 calls already and every time we speak to different agents we need to explain them the whole situation and they don't have any answer for that. They just keep telling we need to wait for the notes from the vendor. It'd been 20 days already and they are still awaiting that which usually takes only 24 hrs and they don't take any action for that. It feels they don't care about their customers. They just need money. There is no point signing contract with them as they can't take care of the issue and get our dryer replaced. VERY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE!!!

    Our claim for our dishwasher was denied due to 'excessive amount of grease' according to the letter sent by American Home Shield. We also received a phone call which didn't provide any information. The most important point was that they didn't let us know that we were entitled to a 2nd opinion. I only learnt about this when I called another appliance company and the person informed me about that option.

    So when I called AHS for a 2nd opinion, they told me that it has passed 7 days and so I couldn't get one anymore. Why didn't AHS customer service informed me about that option. When I asked the customer service over the phone to send me an email, the person said he couldn't do it. In addition, the pumping department also came out and checked a sink drain that didn't drain well and said that was not covered either due to no accessible ground?? Basically all the claims were denied. I really have no idea on why we purchased a AHS insurance when it routinely denies all the claims. This happens in April 2019, so just last month.

    Had a refund coming called and they said check would be delivered 14-21 business days. Waited 22 business days and called again. Guess what. They said give it 14-21 business days. Called a third time and received the same response. Currently I'M ON HOLD. It's been over a hour.

    I have never had a negative experience since this event. In fact I have been a client for several years and when my mom passed I moved her house to AHS because of the awesome service. We had the well pump go out. We had no water to the house. We called and were told I had to give them 4 hours to find a contractor before I could call a local contractor to pull the pump. I waited the 4 hours and called back, waiting another 45 minutes on hold to be told that the previous rep had not put in the emergency note. She then tried to connect me with an HVAC system provider. I had to explain it was a well pump, not AC. We were then told we were authorized to bring someone in since they did not have a contracted vendor. We got the work done and then were told that we did not have authorization and would not get paid.

    Several months later we finally got authorized for payment. The check was issued 4/24. We started calling about a week later because our mail was getting stolen (reported to the police). We wanted them to check to see if the check was cashed and if not stop pay and overnight us a replacement. Calling EVERY day we still don't have an answer. We were counting on this check for our upcoming vacation on the 22nd. We paid close to $4,000 for the well pump replacement and our refund is $1575. Every rep said they do not have a phone number for accounting. Being in business for over 45 years, I have never experienced such lack of customer service. I rarely file a claim. Up to now, I would have referred AHS to everyone, not so sure now. After over 4 months, I just want this resolved.

    Worst company I’ve ever dealt with, nobody knows anything or can help me.. I’ve called American Home Shield at least 15 times within the past weeks in regards to my HVAC.. It’s been a month and a few weeks and I still have no AC, not to mention the contractor has been MIA.. They have no managers or upper leaders that they can transfer you to. All they have are these supervisors/escalation supervisors that do absolutely nothing. All in all they have created a terrible customer experience for me. If I can turn a few people away I’ve did my due diligence.. I never write reviews because things happens but this is outrageous. Once my unit is allegedly fixed I’m definitely dropping them.

    It’s really easy to submit a claim to American Home Shield. You just do it online. You don’t even have to fill anything out really. It’s just like a menu thing. I had lost power in the outlets in my basement and Sure Electric fixed it the first time they came out. I’ve also actually worked with them through American Home Shield before where they had to order parts and they were very timely, helpful and efficient. They were really nice too. We've had American Home Shield for at least four years now. We originally started using it when we bought a house in Maryland about four years ago. There was one incident back in Maryland where we didn’t have heat and it was January, and we had to fight them on getting somebody out there right away. But other than that, American Home Shield has been pretty good and timely.

    I do everything through the AHS app. I had two services where one was the dishwasher. The technician said that the control panel was full of gunk and stuff on the dishwasher. He had to go in there and clean it out. The other service was for the dryer. It’s fixed because it’s working but now, it’s really loud. It's been probably two months now since somebody was out for that. I’ve been meaning to call AHS about that but I just haven’t. AHS' contractors have all been friendly and on time. The one who came for the dishwasher was early which was really nice considering he fit me in a day early. We were able to do the dishes with the dishwasher instead of manually a day earlier than we thought so that was really nice.

    My most recent claim with AHS was my refrigerator, the freezer and the icemaker. My refrigerator wasn’t keeping cool. My freezer was freezing up. The icemaker was one big block of ice 'cause it was leaking. The submitting of the claim wasn't such an issue. It's getting the next day to have whoever they have call me 'cause when I put in a claim, I want somebody to call me first thing in the morning. But I wanted to get this service as quickly as possible so I made the call. The contractor said the motherboard was fried, that the fan had ice that was coming from the freezer that was stuck on the coils which was making the motor not work right. For some reason, it was like one big block of ice that I can go in there and ship it out. And the technicians repaired all of it.

    The contractors that AHS sent have been very friendly. I've had air conditioning issues, microwave issue and the refrigerator issue and every one of their contractors have been very nice. They even took stuff down so they wouldn't damage any of the things on my stove when they did the microwave and they were very efficient. Never had anybody come back to repair whether the refrigerator, the microwave or the air conditioner. The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was that they didn’t cover our pool heater. They said they would cover a heater but they don’t cover a heat pump yet they cover a heat pump for the air conditioner. That didn’t make any sense to me. But other than that, they were pretty good. I would recommend AHS. We already renewed twice with them.

    With American Home Shield, it's so nice to be able to go online and call one person instead of having to call several companies to see if you can get the best deal. You know what you're gonna be charged for it. It's such a relief to have that service and know you can count on it 24 hours a day. I submitted a claim for my water heater and the service was quick and efficient. What was interesting was the water heater ended up having a leak. And that required a different work order. So, when I submitted that work order, not only did they have the plumber that had come to fix the leak, but within 24 hours, they had a guy calling me to fix the sheetrock that the plumber had done.

    They were so efficient and they thought of something before I had even thought of something. And that's quite rare in the home repair world. I'm a fairly new customer to American Home Shield. So, to see that quality and level of the response to my needs were remarkable. I was a little disappointed that what we called for was for the temperature which was really dumb. It ended up being that we just needed to turn up the water heater. But it is a 20-year-old water heater. So, I thought something was wrong. And then, I had to pay for the second service call for them to fix the leaky pipe because the plumber said, "Well, that's not part of the service call." But it was still cheaper to pay the service fee twice than it would have been to pay for the plumber to come to fix the leaking valve. It was all good when it was all said and done. I had already have recommended American Home Shield.

    The pop off valve on the hot water heater would open up and water would flow on the outside. It's what it’s designed to do, but it’s only supposed to flow a little bit and then close back up. However, it wasn’t closing back up. The repair person that American Home Shield sent replaced the pop off valve once and then it didn’t work. So, we had to manually cut off the water heater off until they got here. It was terrible heating water in the pot to take a bath or to wash dishes. The problem was initially, the water line had a hole in it and water was coming through that. That got fixed. The next thing was this pop off valve. So, we had about six or seven visits and we had the same repair person each time. It’s been repaired and it's been working correctly, but it makes you a little bit fearful if you were to leave home for a couple of days or so.

    American Home Shield is pretty good value for when you get into a house, and it's definitely worth having. I generally make claims online and the website is easy to navigate. The only thing I don't care about it now is that they bill you automatically as soon as you put the claim in. This last time, they wouldn't have had the guy come right out if I talked to him on the phone first. But outside of that, I've had a pretty good experience with it. I've gotten people out here in one to four days to take care of the problem.

    I had one problem with a water pipe that was stuck up in the house, and I thought it was clogged in the pipes of the washer and dryer. The guy sent by American Home Shield came out here and said he shouldn't fix it because it's a different problem than what he was called out for to do, and he had to run the snake through the road to the drain. He told me they'd charge me another $120 to put in a trap to clean out the pipes for the washer and dryer. But I haven't had any problem ever since. They wouldn't be companies that I'd normally call, but they do an adequate job once they get out here for what the problem is.

    I've lived here six years and probably each year, I've had to do Freon at the beginning of each summer, same scenario. The units are getting older and American Home Shield continues to band-aid the situation and not do full repair or replacement. They’re just going to just keep re-dispatching and continue to add Freon when there’s a deeper problem below the surface. I prefer to submit my claims online and outside of the AC, I've had several done this year. The AC is my biggest problem and everything else has been more than satisfied.

    I called up AHS and they sent out Rocket Repair for my dishwasher. It would run all night long. I put it on in 4 o'clock in the morning and it would still be going five hours later. As long as I left it on, it will keep going. This is a 1980 dishwasher, so it is not too surprising. I've had a few calls and I've asked everybody so far to please let us finish the transaction. It is still not done, but I've been very, very happy with Rocket Repair. Also, everybody at AHS has been really super. As soon as I hang up, it's not very long until I hear from whoever they referred the claim to. AHS has been excellent. I have been very, very happy with them. I would recommend them.

    I called in a claim when I had a lot of electrical outages in my outlets and wall outlets. The claims process was easy. The only thing is some of the American Home Shield representatives' English is not always that good. Sometimes, I also have to wait on hold for four minutes. Sometimes, they put me on hold for a while because they have to try to find somebody to service me. Most of their contractors had been pretty good, except for the one that’s coming out again today for something different.

    I had an AC unit that went out last Saturday and I requested somebody to come out as soon as they could. But with American Home Shield, they said they couldn’t get anybody out for several days. I told them that wasn’t acceptable because I had two grandkids and both of them use inhalers. They do a lot of coughing if there is not enough air in the house and it's extremely hot. AHS found me a third contractor. When the third contractor came out a few days ago, they said they’d have to replace something. They warned me that it might take several days before they would receive the part. But the part was in stock so they were sending somebody back out yesterday.

    I was given a window between 12:00 and 4:00. They called me around 3 o’clock but the person never showed up. I never got a phone call, a text message, or an email. I had to call them back around 5 o’clock and I also emailed and texted them. This is the first time such a thing happened. I’ve had American Home Shield since I moved into my house in 1997. I don't always use them all the time but I make my monthly payments. Now, I keep hearing there are other companies out there that are better than American Home Shield.

    The exterior house faucet was leaking so I called American Home Shield and left a message. They called me back in a couple of hours, and then the contractor came out. He got right to it and it was fixed. It took less than 45 minutes and it was very quick. I'm happy with it. This was the second time I've called American Home Shield and both times have been similar. The response was good, and I was pleased with the quick response. I'd recommend them. American Home Shield is a good thing to have when you're buying a new or old home.

    I had a dishwasher problem and the company sent by AHS was very refreshing. I stopped calling them if I have something because it’s not so pleasant. I’d rather do my claims online. The contractor sent for my dishwasher was very courteous and prompt. They came the very next day, which is not usual for American Home Shield’s contractors, normally.

    Before I had a horrible contractor from American Home Shield. One time, my washing machine broke down and it was over 10 days before they sent someone because their company had gone into the system to be requested to repair. The only company they had was busy and wasn’t based in the same town. They just service my town once a week or so. So, I had to wait one or two turns ‘til they had time to put me on their schedule. Additionally, the same company got the wrong part and did not fix the problem.

    Henson Heating and Air Conditioning came out the other day and I thought they were gonna be servicing, but they did more like a mini-service because they just said American Home Shield doesn’t cover routine maintenance. So, I ended up paying $75, and they just checked to see if everything was okay. And then, they sent me a bill that if I wanted to have a complete service, it would be 150 bucks.

    I called American Home Shield to file the claim and gave them my credit card. The claims representatives were very nice. They unfortunately really didn’t explain the whole details of what I would be getting. I thought it would be like a total service job and I wouldn’t have to be worrying about doing other things. But according to the guy that came out, it's workable and if I wanted a real tune-up, it would cost 150 bucks on top of my 75. So, I was disappointed. I probably won't use them again. I feel like I wasted $500 and some for getting them. I ended up not getting everything done and it's workable, I can use the product, which is my air conditioning system, but it still needs to have a true tune-up done. It was more of like a mini-claim. They sprayed it off with water. They dusted it. They checked to see if there was enough coolant in it.

    Other than that, the contractor was very nice, although when he got here, he automatically slapped the sticker on my unit as if now he owns it because that is gonna stay. He didn’t ask me if I wanted it on there. He just put it on there. So, it's one of the things that’s going to be coming off my unit because I won't be calling him back.

    I called American Home Shield to get my garage opener fixed. The garage door was going all the way up but it was going down halfway and going right back up.     My experience with American Home Shield wasn't bad but the company that came out here didn't do too well. The heater in my pool went out so we couldn't use the jacuzzi. It was too cold. I waited until the next day and called American Home Shield. They had United Contractors Incorporated but they couldn't come out for a week. When they came out, the guy went back there then he said everything was okay. So we tried the pool again but the water didn't get warm. The heater still didn't work. So I called again and the same company came out. But of course, I had to wait for six days for them because they got the thing about my claim from American Home Shield on Monday morning and it took them a couple of days to get here. They had a guy come out and he said everything was fixed.

    Then on Monday, my wife and I were sitting here in our backyard and the pool was on. I went out and stuck my foot in the pool and it was about 99 degrees. Whenever the filter would come on, the heater would go on. So for the last four days, the heater had run for eight hours a day. So my gas bill is gonna be outrageous. The last guy that was here did something. I told the lady at United Contractors that I would be calling them again when I get my gas bill. She said they would take care of it. But if that hadn't worked I would have talked to somebody else in that company.

    They also called me yesterday, wanting to set up a date for the guy to come out because the part was in. They had to order a part and the rep said they would have everything done the next Thursday. But I said no, that this was a mistake and that they had been playing around for a long time. So this guy came out this morning, went back there and said the last technician had left the on button on the inside of the little box on the electrical panel. He told me it's gonna work now. It's on a standby so whenever I turn it on, it would come on. When I turn it off, it would turn off. But I haven't really tried it yet.

    This company sent three different technicians out here. The first one came out and didn't do any good. The second one came out and didn't do any good because he had to order a part. Then a week and a half later, I called them because it still wasn't working and they sent the same guy out. He said he put the part in and everything was fine. But then the guy came out today and he says it's fixed. That aside, I've never had a problem with American Home Shield or the people they've sent out until now. We've been in this house for almost 16 years and we had American Home Shield prior to coming here. So we've had it for almost 20 years now.

    The heater in my pool went out one other time and when the contractor came out, the guy had to redo the interior of the heater. Out of curiosity, I asked what it would cost me and he said $2,300. At that time, $60 was all I paid. It has gone up to $75 but I understand that. We also had a clogged toilet once and we couldn't get it to work. We had to call American Home Shield and they sent us a plumber. He went in the bathroom and flushed the toilet then he came out and said it was okay. It had been filled up with toilet paper down in the line somewhere and all we did was wait three days so it disintegrated in the water. When he flushed it, it just went down. American Home Shield has been fine. I got my money's worth.

    We had our locks rekeyed through American Home Shield. We submitted the claim online and their website was super easy to use. They assigned Black Lock to us and the tech who came out was great. They said that he could come within a couple of days and he did. Our locks were unexpectedly old and they don’t make them anymore, so he went out of his way and found these special keys that he didn’t need to rekey them. Then, he had to come back for a second visit to complete it.     When you have a problem, American Home Shield charges $100 just sending somebody to look. 8 out of 10 times, they just get $100 from you and say that the issue is not related to them and you have to take care of it yourself. They’re just finding a way to deny you, and they don’t tell you when you call them that they charge you $100 ahead. I was charged $100 for the garage door and the contractor said that I have to pay him $400 for him to personally fix it. So, I got somebody else who charged me $80 and fixed the problem. I called AHS for the garage door. First of all, it was unethical from them that if this job is not related, they charge me. Second, the subcontractors are crooks and they purposely deny you to get the private job from you. They should at least return my $100.

    AHS has sent a few people. I had a downdraft oven which was broken and they sent an installer who spent 30 seconds and then told me that I have to change it, and then left. I paid $100 for that and when AHS took a look, they said they didn’t cover that brand. They came up with some other brand that did not fit the hole that I have. The whole thing cost me, if I wanted to buy from the brand that needs to be replaced, $2,500. So, they went to the cheaper brand that was not a fit to my system, and including the drawers and installer, they gave me $1,200 and said they wanna have proof for that. I went out of pocket and paid the one that I know fits there. I also paid privately an installer. So, I haven’t gotten one penny back from AHS and they charged me $100 to tell me all this nonsense. I am very dissatisfied.

    I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield when the AC unit kept tripping the breaker. Initially, Interstate Energy wanted to come out on the same day that I put in the request. But I wasn’t available on the timeframe that they were allotting me, and there wasn’t anybody home. That was on a Friday and the next available day I had was the weekend. They don't contract out on the weekend so the next available time was Monday after 3 o’clock.

    The tech was here in less than an hour. He was thorough, explained what the problem was, and fixed it. It was working fine when he left and the next day, but then we had another issue. Around 3:00 on Wednesday morning of the same week, it did the same thing where it stopped cooling. I went outside and noticed that it had tripped the breaker again. So I called American Home Shield at 7:00 in the morning, and they sent Interstate Energy back out. But again, they couldn't come until later in the afternoon. When they came, they said there was a new motor in the unit, and that the breaker had to be replaced in the outside breaker box. So they had to send out an electrician, which then didn't happen until the following day. The electrician came and the AC has been fine since then.

    We had our ac checked through AHS to see if it's good once it's summer. They said it was gonna be this rate, but if you got two separate units, it was actually double, which was fine. I understand, but I wish they would have said that before. But they were nice. They said, "Your AC is fine," which most people who have come out say, "Well, you need this, "You need that," and "It's gonna cost you this." That guy was at least like "Looks good to me," which is pretty rare. I appreciate AHS.

    Our house came with its own insurance vendor but I didn't wanna renew with them. My coworker told me that I should swith to American Home Shield, so that's what I did. But my experience with them wasn't good. My slab leak recently and I saw water coming up from the floor, so I called American Home Shield on a Monday and the plumber came out on Wednesday. The plumber said he couldn't do anything. It looked like a slab leak and he needed to send over their specialist. I called the guy there and he came out on Thursday. And within 10 minutes, he confirmed it was a slab leak. He told me that there were two options, and how much it was gonna cost me, and that there was a cap. I called my insurance as well because he said they might have to cut through my floor. He said my home insurance should cover the other portion.

    I contacted the actual home insurance that came with the house when I purchased it, and the rep sent someone out. I’ve been calling American Home Shield back and forth to see what was gonna happen. My insurance sent someone to do the repair and they still haven’t reached us. I was told by some of their reps that it was with the authorization department. I called two days later and someone said that the plumbers haven’t submitted their diagnostics. But this was already three weeks after the plumber came out.

    We were shutting down the water because I didn't want any damage to my house. We were only turning it on for about an hour a day and I was living off of buckets. American Home Shield is amazing for when an appliance is out. But if it is something a little bit serious, I would not go through them. They did not help me. I went somewhere else to get the work done. After I got it done, someone from American Home Shield reached out to me and told me that they finally received the diagnostics. I told the rep that there was a big difference between the plumber that they sent and the plumber that I paid to come to my house.

    American Home Shield sent out Casey Plumbers and the plumber was there for 10 minutes. The testing that he did for the slab leak was different. He took out his little headphone thing, only walked into one of the bathrooms, and he told me that the leak was in the bathroom. But the plumber that I paid said the leak was actually running under one of the bedrooms. The pipe was there, but the leak itself was not in the bathroom. And Casey was talking about breaking into it. He told me they were gonna make a hole to reroute it in the entry hall. But my plumber said he didn't understand why they would have done that rerouting that way since the pipes were actually in the bathroom.

    When I was calling to find the status of my claim number, I kept on getting different responses. Another thing is that they are outsourcing to somewhere in India because all the representatives that I spoke to have an Indian accent. There's a language barrier and you can tell they're reading off a script. It is very frustrating for me.

    When I turned on my central AC for the first time, it would blow on but it wouldn't come on at all on automatic. And in either way, it wasn't cooling. It was just blowing hot air. I submitted a claim with AHS on the phone and got hold of somebody very quickly. I was really surprised. I called and left a message, then they called me back within an hour and had somebody out here the next morning. They sent out Reep's Air & Refrigeration and the technician was wonderful. He said it needed a new thermostat and he put in a new one. He also checked the Freon and fixed the unit. It took him 30 minutes to do everything and he was polite, well groomed, and seemed to know what he was doing. I had a great experience.

    I have AHS for three years now and this is the first time I've had to use the warranty. But it's nice to know that when it's there, it works. I'm also not easily impressed, but my experience with them was very nice. Initially, the reason I came with American Home Shield was because I had a problem with my former warranty company. I couldn't reach them and when I finally got them on the line, they would never return my phone calls. It was for a claim on my refrigerator and I had to have fixed. It happened four days before the holidays and finally, about two weeks later, they called me back. But by then, I already paid for my own refrigerator repairs then I changed companies. So, I was really pleased when this happened with AHS. I was anticipating a problem and there was none.

    A contractor was dispatched on April 23rd with the wrong part. Since that day, despite repeated calls from my end and promises on theirs to follow up, I have been unsuccessful in getting this repair completed. They merely state they are waiting on receipt of the correct part. In the meantime, my family and I sweat through 85 degree nights and are stiflingly hot most days as we sit and wait.     Home Services Of Greensboro, NC was sent out by AHS to check on sump pump which was out in my crawl space. Home services sent out two tech to diagnosis. All they did is took a picture and left. After three days of wait I texted them about and they texted back saying sump pump was locked and burnt due to foreign object. I texted them back asking for picture tech took showing foreign object. HS texted back saying tech lifted sump pump some and reached down around and felt pump blade were locked up. He could feel it. But the fact is both tech never lifted the pump. Took only picture from the top. AHS is telling same thing from their report and due to wrong diagnosis AHS is denying repair or replacing work.

    I had an issue with the boiler and I didn’t have heat. I filed a claim with AHS online and it was super easy. Then, the technician came, checked a few different things, found out that that wasn’t it, went to the next step and found out that I needed a new pump.     I'm trying to wait to hear back from American Home Shield on the last plumber that we had out to the house who was completely incompetent of providing sound service. Our water pressure is basically down to zero in our master shower, but in our other five bathrooms, it's totally fine. He said that there was nothing that he could do. That, to me, does not sound like a professional outcome. I paid $75 to have that opinion laid on me. I'm not plumber, but I'm certain that something can be done whether it's ripping out all the plumbing and starting over. Now they're saying that they have to have his final report, which I guess, that plumber is not sending in so that they can have a second opinion done. So, I'm sitting here waiting for him to do that.     I had a bad compressor in my air conditioner, and it had to be replaced. American Home Shield requested a new compressor, and Piedmont came in and replaced it. So, everything went smoothly. We started off kinda bumpy with the contractor because they didn’t have any available date, and I had absolutely no air in the house. But everything got resolved.

    I did the claim over the phone. Initially, the customer service at American Home Shield was great. I don’t know who dropped the ball here, but when I called and I spoke to the lady about scheduling the time for Piedmont to come out, she told me she called Piedmont and they were gonna call me back. But when I called Piedmont, they seemed to indicate that nobody had called them. So, I’m not sure if they’re getting too many calls that they didn’t know who had called.     I’ve been with American Home Shield for years and recently, they said that there was a $75 HVAC tune-up for this year. It has never been offered before so, that’s what I did. It isn’t difficult to set up a claim or to have somebody come down here. There was an episode where I was told that my outlets would be replaced because they were damaged. I put tape on each one that had to be replaced because they weren’t working properly but the contractor that came never said that they were only going to replace five. So, I paid $75 to have the plates put on, which I could have done because I've been putting plates on for years.

    The inside unit was what was damaged and I wanted them replaced because I have to use a machine at night. The plug was not working. So, that didn’t do me any good. I called back more than once and AHS said they would reach out to them, but they couldn’t get a hold of them. That was in two separate phone calls. Nobody ever reached out to me as far as sending them back or anybody else back. So, that was never resolved.

    Another incident was last year when my smoke alarms weren’t working and they were going off by themselves in the middle of the night. I have insomnia, so waking up at 3:00 in the morning, I wasn’t getting any sleep at all. When the contractor came down here, the guy said that one of them or a couple of them weren’t working. So, he was going to come in and get them replaced. Then, I got a call from AHS and said that it was working. So, there was a conflict of verbiage there and that was a waste of my $75. AHS sent somebody else down and they said that there wasn’t anything wrong with them but I wound up paying anyway. So far, that issue has never been resolved. When there's smoke in the kitchen or anything it is supposed to alert you, they still don’t go off. These two incidents were very important and it was part of the contract that they were supposed to replace those, so I'm not satisfied with that.

    We had a water heater that was hooked up to a solar storage tank that had to be replaced. AHS considered that to be a solar water heater which wasn't in my service contract. We paid for the replacement but after we proved to them that the water heater that had to be replaced was a gas water heater that had nothing to do with the solar tank, they ended up paying for it. More recently, my microwave broke and I submitted everything for the claim online to American Home Shield. The contracts whom they sent came and were in and out of my place in 15 minutes. They were courteous and the microwave has been performing well since the repair.

    American Home Shield's website was great. As soon as I ordered the service, I had confirmation and someone contacted me. But I was given 24 to 48 hours to expect the contractor to come out and they didn't show up. It was about four days before someone came out. The second contractor was Bear Plumbing and Rooter, and they were actually really professional. They turned up the next day, within 24 hours. But I was really unhappy with the job they did. They put the rooter through, put it down for about one minute and said it was blocked. Then they said that because of the blockage, the drain has to be dug up and replaced to try and find out where the block is.

    They said it was gonna be a lot of money and it was not covered by the warranty. So they left. They quoted something like $8,000 to get it fixed. But it was wrong. After they left, I got someone local and they came with exactly the same thing. They put it down and within five minutes, they’ve cleared the blockage. And I had to pay that out-of-pocket.

    My husband called American Home Shield and the customer service was good as well as the contractor they sent out. We were happy with the level of service. It was great and the contractor was very helpful. He called and came right away. Unfortunately, about a week after he came, it started malfunctioning again. It wasn't fixed so, we were gonna reach back out to him and let him know. Although I’ve had some challenges, the whole experience recently with Mates Electric was very positive. In the past, I had some problems with the company called Sundance. They were sloppy and did not come when they said they were going to or they were three weeks out and couldn’t come. So, in general, it was a negative experience and then, they didn’t fix what they were supposed to fix. So, if there was one contractor I’d recommend to replace, it would be them.

    We had some slow drain and AHS had it fixed. The process was relatively straightforward. They did a good job, said it was controlled and kept us informed. But we had a second call. It was for a built-in microwave and that was really a hassle. We ended up going out and getting one, and they were supposed to reimburse us. We’re satisfied with the amount. We paid $75 for the appointment. But the process took eight weeks because they said they needed three or four weeks to issue the check. And it took them about 10 days to decide they weren’t gonna fix it. So, we were without the microwave for almost a month and we decided just to go ahead and get one.

    It took a few days for them to come out, which is understandable. But we weren’t notified after that, that they were going to give us an offer. Then I had to call back several times to get that in the works. Also the company that came out said that they would call us, but they didn’t. It just got dropped. So, I gave them about a week to get back to me. There was the weekend in between.

    So, the concern is, we had company coming which arrived yesterday. It would’ve taken them 10 days to get the new microwave to us and then we’d have to make an appointment to have it installed. So, to be without a working microwave when you have company and you’re used to one, I think that that process was way too delayed. They had told us that day and given us our options. But I was on the phone, one time, I was on for about an hour with them and that was about the third or fourth call. They were helpful in making us the offer, but it didn’t come till almost a month after we reported the microwave wasn’t working at all. So the appliance repair, with A Plus Appliance, was not handled well. I had furnished them pictures of the microwave, but they couldn’t find the model number. So, I understand that they couldn’t repair. It was an older microwave.

    If it was the refrigerator and it took that long, we would not have survived. And that’s why I’m not renewing American Home Shield. Some things were good, but we’re not interested in the delay. If something isn’t working and can’t be fixed, we don’t want to wait till they make a decision after the first repair. But for people who don’t wanna manage the money end of it or like that structure, AHS is probably okay.

    I've been using AHS on two properties. They provide me awesome service. And every time I've called them for services, I've always gotten them to come out within 24 hours. I had an issue with my ceiling fan. I submitted a claim to AHS and then, they sent someone out within 24-hour timeframe to fix it. The guy that came out originally was supposed to get there between 9:00 and 11:00, and it was 11:00, I came here so I called him. I said, "it's 11:00 and you're not here." He said he was on his way. I said, "A phone call would've been nice. I shouldn't have been calling you." So, I put a little comment thing when I messaged them.

    Then, the same person came back the second time, but he got there earlier the second time. As far as his work, he was great. He explained everything when he got there. I have wood in my house and I asked him to put the little booties on that I have on my front door, and he put them on, no complaints. So, everything was great. I called AHS a few times to upgrade 'cause first I just had them on one of my properties and then, I called them to add it to another of my properties. And I also called in to change my card information and do a few other things, and it was pretty good customer service. I highly recommend them to a friend.

    It was definitely easy to file a claim over the phone. It was for the heating and air conditioning. The only complaint I have about it is I had a programmable thermostat, a rather expensive one, and what they replaced it with was a basic thermostat. Then American Home Shield said that I was basically stuck with what they gave me, which was kind of unfortunate because I just renewed my service. If I had realized that it was like that, I wouldn’t have renewed it. I would’ve gone with someone else. It would seem to me that, if you’re warranting something, the warranty would replace it with what you had, not with something less than what you have. But that aside, the contractor and the service were fine.

    The service at the end, where American Home Shield sent someone out, was not charged though because they'd had a technician there less than a week earlier. But I keep getting emails from them telling me I owe you money when I don’t owe them money. I contacted them twice and they told me that that was correct. That was supposedly removed and yet I’m still getting emails telling me that I’m seven days past due.

    There was a hole in my bathtub so I filed a claim online to American Home Shield and then somebody called me. The initial schedule with the contractor was the next day. But then it took about two weeks for the contractor to actually come back out and tell us what was going on. The contractor was good but they said it wasn't covered by American Home Shield so they didn't repair it. I wasn't too happy about it. The whole reason why I got this warranty is for when things happen, they would cover it. They didn't do anything. I had to pay for the repair myself.

    We had one other time where we asked for support for the washer and dryer that wasn't working. We ended up calling American Home Shield but then, we figured out what was wrong with it. But that was kind of annoying too because we called them and nobody had came out yet. We already paid for the servicing fee and they were supposed to refund it, but they never did. I haven't had a great experience with American Home Shield.

    I've been with American Home Shield for multiple years and my experience with them has been good. Recently, my washing machine and oven were broken and I submitted my claims online with AHS.     I would not be without American Home Shield because it’s a lifesaver. You can have an emergency anytime in your home and a lot of people don’t have that type of money sitting around. Repairs are very expensive and if you don’t have coverage like that, getting the plumbers or the electricians to come out and do work for you is even more costly. I’m really pleased with American Home Shield and it's more affordable for me to do it this way. The warranty is all the way around perfect for the homeowner to have. Before I bought this home, I didn’t really think about home warranty. But this home came with home warranty and I’ve been on that ever since. It worked out perfectly for me. When my children bought houses, I told them about it so they have it as well.

    I had a home inspection done and they found the leak in the water heater. I called American Home Shield to file the claim and the reps were very good. I had dealt with them before and they did everything I asked them to do. I’m actually gonna be selling this home and I wanted to move that warranty with me to my new home. I had no problem with that either.

    Two people from M & E Plumbing Services came out and they were courteous and very knowledgeable. They did their job and they did it rather well. It didn’t take them a long time to do it. It has a leak but the pan wasn’t wet. It didn’t have any water in it. The water heater works and I have good hot water. In fact, I didn’t know there was a leak until the home inspection was done. So the technicians really had to look at it and find out where the leak was coming from. They found it and fixed it. They had to replace a pipe fitting in there.

    Aside from the water heater, the toilet upstairs also kept flushing by itself so the technician fixed that as well. There was something wrong with the valve and they replaced that. So it’s working now. The one downstairs wants to flush by itself now too. So it should have been added to the ticket. If it isn't one thing, it’s another one. But I didn’t have that problem then. I had the problem as soon as they left. So that’s over $75 that I would have to pay. Nonetheless, the service M & E provided was good and professional.

    I called American Home Shield for my garage door opener and they sent somebody out, but it didn't help. It got to where it wouldn't open. So they sent the guy out again from the same company and he said there was a power surge. But it would work sometimes, and sometimes it wouldn't. So he put in a new garage door opener. My problem with that is I had to pay him $399. The garage door opener is working fine now. But I wasn't expecting to have to pay that much. The idea of me getting home warranty is to help with expenses. But the $50 a month, plus $100 every time I call, and then the $399, was a little bit too much for my budget.

    American Home Shield got my most recent claim resolved. However, they should have customer service managers who take customer service seriously and communicate with their customers. At the moment, it stops. There's a ceiling with the poor person on the phone who has zero empowerment to do anything. When I really have a problem, they're useless. We've had a heat pump issue that had been persisting and we had second opinions. The individual contractors were okay but what I find very frustrating with American Home Shield is their lack of response when I escalate an issue, particularly if I ask to speak to a manager on the front line. I get zero response. When you press them, they'll say, "Well, I don't know if they're available, but I'll let them know," and I never get a response. So, I'm not happy with that aspect.

    We can’t function in the house when the air is off and it’s too hot. When the air in the bottom would always get hot in the room, I put in a service request with American Home Shield. I always call on the phone when I have a claim and their reps have been courteous. They always tell me that they don’t know when a contractor was gonna come out, so they always give me the number to call.

    The next day I got a call from United Air Temp Conditioning and Heating but I couldn’t get the work done the next day because I was going out of town since my husband was sick. But when I called and told them I was coming back home, they got a technician right out the next day. He was really nice because he kinda understood what we were saying. We’ve been having problems with this air conditioner every two months for years and technicians would have to come out.

    The technician said that our air condition had never been tuned up or cleaned up. We had him do that but we had to pay for that because that wasn’t in the contract. He fixed the AC. I love American Home Shield. I know a few people who always complain, but I’ve had the home warranty for years and they've been excellent.

    We had an issue with our AC and we filed a claim with American Home Shield. They found out that a part had to be replaced. So, it took some time but, eventually, they got it fixed. So, we are okay with their service. At first, we were assigned to one contractor who didn’t do their work. They set an appointment but they didn’t show up. And then, we called them back and nobody picked up the phone. I complained about that and then, AHS assigned another contractor for us, and that later one is much better than the previous one and they finished their job. So, we’re happy about that contractor. They scheduled the work, showed up on time and gave us information. Although they charged us some extra fee which should have been covered by the policy, which we understand, and it was okay. At least they got the work done. But I think if AHS could, they shouldn't qualify unqualified contractors from their list to make their customer more happy.

    Our water heater was leaking and we couldn't use it, so I had to file a claim with AHS. I called them and they put me in touch with the vendor. The rep I talked to was very good. But AHS sends part of their work to other countries, so there are communication issues. You have to keep saying things over and over and they don't seem to understand what you're asking for when you get someone who speaks another language. It becomes frustrating. But other than that, our issues were resolved.

    Our microwave also had issues which had been going on for a while, then it just stopped working correctly. I submitted a claim with AHS for that and everything was resolved in a pretty quick manner. There was the matter of getting the part but in a week and a half at the latest, the repair was completed. That claim was handled very efficiently. We also filed a claim for our refrigerator. We had an issue with it and we eventually wound up getting a new one. But we had to keep calling AHS because it just kept having issues. Since the replacement, everything has been fine and there has been no more issues.

    Other than that, I've referred people to American Home Shield though I don't know if they had gotten it. But whenever a friend of mine or someone tells me that they're going to get a house, I always tell them that they should get a warranty and that they should get American Home Shield. We initially got AHS when we purchased our home in 2004. Unfortunately, in 2009, we had a house fire, so we had to cancel the warranty because our house had to be rebuilt. But in 2011, we came back home, so we got it back again in 2012. Since we've been with them this last time, we've submitted between six and 10 claims, and out of that, only three were bad experiences.

    I’ve got a stovetop that’s only a few years old and I’m missing a burner. There was nothing that we did. It’s worked perfectly, but all of a sudden it wouldn’t light. We tried to light it manually and it didn’t work that way either. So we called AHS and this man came and said it was because there was an igniter missing. But he had to take off the burner to put the igniter on. He tried to do it and gouged out a little bit of the enamel on the stovetop. And then he said he didn't have the right tool and he would be back in a while.

    He came back a week later and worked on it for another hour. We ended up having to empty out an entire drawer underneath the stove with all our pots and pans in it so he could get underneath it if he needed to. He played with the stovetop but couldn’t do anything to fix it. He said he’d get back to us because he couldn’t take off the burner to replace the igniter.

    He said he would have somebody call us, which nobody ever did. So, when we didn’t hear from anyone, my husband started calling B & M and nobody has ever called us back. And he figured, he didn’t wanna be unfair to them. He’d wait until tomorrow and give them a chance to call today. They don’t answer their phones I need my stove. I have four different burners and this is the largest of them and the one I would use most often. I pay 800 and some odd dollars a year for American Home Shield. If that isn’t gonna work for me, then I need to not do it anymore.

    We’ve had American Home Shield since 2004 when we moved to South Carolina. We had it in our old house, we’ve had it in this house, and they have been nothing but fabulous. And now for a week and a half we’re just sitting here with a broken stovetop. But in general, I am very pleased with American Home Shield. I’ve always been satisfied with what they did. Some of their contractors take forever and aren’t always the most competent, but in the end, everything always gets done. It’s just that you have to wait for it.

    I thought when I purchased the AHS special service for my AC it would have been the same pre-season service that all AC companies provide. Unfortunately it does not. Yes, I should have read the email of what was excluded, but I took the title at face value. The title should have read LIMITED Pre-season Tune-up. They charge $75.00 and for a few dollars more I could have received a complete pre-season tune-up by going to any area AC company. The most important item missing from the AHS special is that the lines are not flushed. So now a week later I’m paying another $100 to get this work done since my AC has stopped working.

    I have been calling now for two months in regards to a company that was sent to my home for a plumbing. It turned out that we had to pay $1750.00 and we are now having a water leak issue. I have called the company Sage Mechanical and was asked to send him pictures which I did. Now he will not answer our calls. I have contacted AHS twice a week and no one will give my call to a Manager to help solve my issue. I am told every time that they have spoke to Rex and he will be calling me.     I put in a claim on the computer for my dishwasher that wouldn't come on and the process was super easy. Within a couple of hours, American Home Shield had somebody call me. The contractor was great. He was just super nice, polite, and professional. We’d adopt him. He said the dishwasher was wired wrong and it should have never worked to start off with. He fixed the wiring right away and while he was here, I asked him about a seal on my freezer. He ordered that, had some back and put it in. The dishwasher is working but I don't use it a lot. The thing runs three hours at a time so I used it twice. American Home Shield does a wonderful job and I tell everybody about them.

    We have two contracts with American Home Shield and their service is fine. But more recently, it has been extremely hard to reach anyone on the phone. We just always open a request online because we can’t reach anybody. We’ve been having a problem with the fridge, and this is the same problem for which we’ve had service people for about seven times. The same problem happened again, and I opened a ticket, but they were gonna send someone from a different company. I wanted them to send people from the same company who had worked on it before. But since I couldn’t talk to anybody, that just got cancelled. The contractor calls, but they’re helpless, because if I tell them that I want someone else, then I need to talk to American Home Shield, but I can’t talk to them. It’s a catch-22.

    Before, when I submitted a claim for my dryer, I had to fight tooth and nail to get them to do what they were supposed to do, and in the end, Home Shield didn’t do that. The first person they assigned the claim to said they couldn’t come out for two weeks. The second person came out the same week and said it needed a part, and then I never heard anything for several weeks after several phone calls and hours on the phone. They weren’t able to get the part, and they said they could just pay me the cost of what the parts and the repair would be. They said they’d send me $100 for that.

    In the meantime, I called the repair company, got the numbers of the parts, and fixed the dryer myself. I still wanted them to refund the $100 for calling the repair service but never fixed my dryer as well as get the $100 back for the parts. They kept giving me the runaround and never responded to any of my phone calls. I might be on hold for an hour before I talked to somebody who ended up hanging up on me. So, I was pissed. I had them reported at the Better Business Bureau and they were hippity hoppity on it. They gave me the refund on my credit for the service call and sent me the check.

    On the other hand, the reps were great this time around. My oven was out and the gentleman who came to fix it was kind enough to note the other appliances that weren’t working, like my microwave and my dishwasher. He could tell the make and model numbers of everything and said he would help me look for parts. I called over the phone to add the other appliances to the original claim. Even though they were not able to find the parts, both the microwave and the dishwasher were replaced.

    I called to have the tune-up done and then the gentleman noticed that the unit was saying that it was low on Freon. It wasn’t adding Freon to it or doing whatever it was supposed to do. We called American Home Shield. The gentleman did it right there that day and they authorized it. Then he came back out the next day and fixed it. He was excellent. What I also really liked about him was that he liked to jerk around. I was giving him hell and messing around with him but he was able to take a joke, put it aside and come right back at me.     I’ve had American Home Shield for quite some time now, even through moving residences. I switched the house address and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve had American Home Shield out for numerous things and each time, the experience has been good. The contractors they send out are really good. A contractor is a contractor. You can’t assume that all their personalities are gonna be good but their work ethic is good. So that’s a big plus.

    Universal 1 Repair did great service for the gas oven. It wasn’t igniting and I submitted a claim for it online, which was very easy. The contractor sent out one person and he looked at it. Then they had to order everything and a second person came out. The gas oven is performing fine now but it took two people two times to come out. One person told me that it was a gas issue and to call UGI which is our gas company. So I did but when the gas company came out, they said I have adequate gas supply. Then the second person who came out said they needed to send a third person out. I didn’t have an oven for almost a month but they did not stop trying to figure it out.

    I recently purchased a home and along it came a home warranty purchased by the seller. The appliances are at least two or three years old. The fridge was not working and two of the gas burners were not lighting up when turning on the gas. The dishwasher was not properly cleaning the dishes and there was also some issue with the microwave. The fan goes on like turning and the panel never turns off. We have to unplug the microwave and that's how it will turn off the fan. I filed a claim and the guy who came to repair repaired the fridge. He said that he had to order parts for the burners because he had to replace all four burners. That is now fixed. He replaced the touch panel for the microwave. He also replaced the plate. The microwave seems to be working right now. For the dishwasher, he did not see any problem in that when he ran it. But we see that sometimes, the soap is left on the dishes. It's not always working properly. Also, I had to come home multiple times because all the parts were not ordered in time. The claim was not done in one go.

    I looked at the package that AHS was offering and it was very reasonable for what they covered, so I went with them. They were also recommended by my realtor. When the air conditioner was making a lot of noise, I went on the internet to submit a claim with AHS and their website was very convenient to use. They were very prompt in sending out Advanced Home Services and their tech was very nice. AHS covered everything but he wasn’t able to do anything. He said it was an old unit and it was gonna make noise. But then I had someone else come out and paid the fee out of pocket. He did some things up there to help lessen the noise. Other than that, having a home warranty is very valuable. If something goes wrong, you pay your $75 fee or whatever your base fee is, and they come out and fix it.

    I switched from 2-10 to American Home Shield in February of this year. Their package was about $400 cheaper for the same coverage, so that’s always a plus. With my most recent claim, I wanted my AC checked up for the season and I submitted a claim with AHS online. I did that on a Saturday then on Monday, I heard from the company they assigned to us. The techs were great and they gave me a time frame. I'm kinda in the middle of nowhere, but they were able to give me a window of when they would come then they showed up during that time and gave me a call before they came out. It was just an annual maintenance on the air conditioner unit and so far, the work is holding up.

    I was satisfied with my experience but the contractor that AHS sent out came from Mesa, which is 40 miles away from me. And I prefer to use someone in Maricopa, where I live, because there are plenty of AC people here. I’d like them to use more local vendors or suppliers. Other than that, AHS reps have treated me well in the past. The company that they were going to send out didn’t show up, so I called back and got a different company.

    The original contractor that AHS sent out was horrible. He said there were certain things wrong and had parts ordered. When the parts came in, my husband left three messages for him. They never returned his call. I called American Home Shield six different times, spoke with supervisors who assured me they would call me back by the end of the day or by the end of the following day. But they did not return my calls, refused to send a different contractor out because they had already paid this contractor and paid for the part. I said, "Not my problem. He's obviously not returning your calls. He's not returning my calls. You need to send someone else out." That's when I called the Florida Consumer commissioner.

    At that point, I called American Home Shield back and got a very kind and wonderful person who sent Cooper Appliance out. Cooper Appliance was great. I still had an issue with the dryer. What's ironic is that I am gonna need to call American Home Shield again because the washing machine is really what our issue is because it's not spinning the laundry dry enough. So, we can go through the normal cycle in the dryer, and it's still very, very damp. And so, we just thought to throw another spin cycle on the washer and then it worked just fine.

    I had another experience with American Home Shield. Our air conditioner died. Friday, 5 o'clock I called them. I live in Florida. It's pretty warm here. They don't expedite service unless it's at least a 106 degrees. The contractor they work with is two hours away from us. So, we went without air conditioning all through the weekend. I spoke with their contractor, Integrity Air Monday morning. The earliest appointment they had for us was Wednesday.

    Fortunately, they had a cancellation and they did wind up coming out Monday. However, if there was a part that we needed to fix the air conditioner, American Home Shield orders it, has it shipped to Integrity Air, and then they schedule to come out and fix it again. So, essentially, we've got this home warranty that if there was a part needed for our air conditioner, we would have been without air for at least a week. They do not have a good network of contractors, and they do not expedite anything. If you got a problem with your appliances, good luck getting it fixed in less than a week.

    I submit my claims with American Home Shield online, and I think if you have multiple things happening, you shouldn’t have to submit several different claims. For example, I had an issue with my dishwasher and my garbage disposal. The site should let you relate claims, so therefore only one company has to come out versus having four companies come out. The contractor who came out for my dishwasher was great. He did what he was supposed to do and he was very courteous. I would use him again.

    The guy that did my garbage disposal came in here and he told me, “Oh, yeah, this isn’t covered.” He explained what happened and said that the little wheels in the bottom weren’t working, so therefore he’d have to get it fixed. But then he submitted something completely different to AHS who then won’t even accept the claim. Why would he tell two different things? And that’s not fair to me. While he was nice and friendly, on time, and amenable to my scheduling, he came in my house, charged me $100, and told American Home Shield something completely different to what he told me, and now I have to go pay another contractor to come in $100. It will not be through American Home Shield because now I’m mad. And there’s no point in going back and arguing with them because they’re gonna say, “Well, we’ll just send him back out again.” I don’t have time to get off work 100 times.

    We also had issues with the dryer. The guy who came out misdiagnosed it. He said there was nothing wrong with it. And he’s like, “You just unplug and plug it back in.” For the 10 seconds he was here, it was working. And then right after he left, I came to find out, once you run it and it gets warm, it would blow out. I had to pay another $100 for another guy to come out. I’m not gonna donate my life savings to American Home Shield when I can just go and pay $100 for a guy to come out and fix it, which I’m doing. I’ve paid AHS $600 a year, plus I had to pay another $100 for the dishwasher guy to come out, a different $100 for the garbage disposal guy to come out, and the garbage disposal guy won’t even fix it. The dishwasher was repaired through AHS before, which is dumb too. It doesn’t make sense. It’s just a waste of money.

    I have a rental property and my tenant told me that there was something wrong with the air conditioner. I called AHS and had an appointment set up. After the techs came out, my tenant told me there was really nothing wrong, that they just needed to adjust something, and everything was fine. But while I was overseas, I got an email saying that the techs were gonna be out on Saturday. Then, I got a couple more emails and one of them said something about having to pay for Freon if it was over $10 or 10 pounds, but nobody has really explained anything to me.     I've kept American Home Shield for this long and if I have bad service, I always would go somewhere else. But I have not had any problem with American Home Shield. Sometimes, things aren't covered, but I understand that. For instance, if you have to have air conditioning Freon, it's not covered there. Also, with the people that work for them, sometimes you get good ones and sometimes you don't get quite as good. Other than that, their contractors provide good quality work. I've never had any problem with anything breaking except one time, we had somebody come back on our water heater. Recently, I had an issue with my air conditioner and AHS sent out a tech from Myers Comfort. They were very helpful and everything has been great since the repair.

    I contacted AHS for a service request. I had two lines to clean out and one line leak that needed to be repaired. I made the service request, AHS deducted the fee and said an authorized contractor will be contacting me within 24 hours. That was on a Friday, so I waited all weekend, knowing I probably would not be getting a call on Sunday. Monday am rolled around and no call came from American Plumbing Solutions, LLC. So I called them, hoping this was just me being a impatient consumer, who paid for a service in full so I can just play the wait game. I see how you make your money AHS. After 3 phone calls I finally spoke to a live human, who BTW acted like she could care less about my service call and why I was calling. After explaining to American Plumbing Solutions that they had been selected as the service provider for this, they had no knowledge of my issues, only had a work order number, with two lines to be cleaned and one line that leaked.

    Now here is where I fault you AHS, why can't you just pick up the phone and contact American Plumbing Solutions and tell them what the service call is for, in depth. Not just a work order? Also, educate your service provider on proper communication to the homeowner. Pick up the phone and call to find out just what the problem is so you can prep your staff to have the proper equipment and materials to perform the job contracted to do. Simple plan you would think. I have since reviewed BBB and other sites and this service provider, American Plumbing Solutions has over 8 registered complaints against them as well as several from Yelp. You might want to take them off of your preferred list.

    American Plumbing Solutions, this is for you, if you really don't want to provide your services to AHS, do us consumers a favor and just back out. If you are so damn busy you can't call me back nor stay on a job to complete it don't do it. I realize you don't make any money on this type of service call, really, then why do it, chase more profitable work. After paying for a service and you don't get what is expected you tend to be a bit pissed and not willing to work it out. Also, you might want to put company markings on your vans, but maybe that is indicative of your service, you don't want anyone to know who you are and you aren't to proud of who you are! Come on man, be a real business and plumbing solutions business or get out of it.

    AHS has been really easy to work with and submitting claims with them has been very easy. The online part is very well user-friendly. It's real good but if I have an issue, I call them. Recently, I found nine quarts of water in my exchange tube or the air return tube. When the condensation fills up, there's a drain from the bottom of the AC that drains out into outside. Apparently, it was clogged. The AC guy unclogged it and everything's good. I've been keeping an eye on it. Plus, he suggested to put some solution down there every month to keep it clean and free cause we have a lot of bugs and geckos. I periodically check it to make sure there's no water where I put the solution in and make sure there's water on the outside tube. So, that means it's doing good.

    The AC guy was amazing. He went above and beyond what he was supposed to do. He kinda explained to me my systems. So, I thought it was very nice. That's why you build word with people around here. They care about what you have so when you have an issue, they want you to call them back. They want your business. And he's definitely earned my business. He helped me understand what I have and what I need to do.

    On the refrigerator one, there were two different guys. The first one who came out found something that has to do with the wiring that they rigged in a different way. So he ordered the part. The second one came and fixed it, and it still did the same thing. They said there's a 90-day or a 60-day warranty, and if something continues to happen, they can come out for nothing. But I don't know about the refrigerator. I'm still getting that popping noise whenever I shut the door. It's like the compressor is popping, but they assured me that there's nothing wrong with the compressor. They really didn't fix what I called them originally for. They found a different problem and fixed that, but not what I called for. I'm thinking of calling somebody else, not them, because neither one of them could understand what was going on. They also tried to charge me $50 to clean my coils and I don't have coils in there.

    We needed an air conditioner repair as the thermostat went out. I did an online request with AHS but it was a three-day call. I wasn't gonna burn out for three days so I called them. The rep took care of everything for me just fine. She got a contractor out there the next day. They were very clean.     The water heaters were banging around, so we called American Home Shield and got that handled. I also paid the $100 for the contractor to come out. They replaced the water heater plumbing and we had to pay extra for modification on the thing, so that was an extra $175. I didn’t expect that, but that was in the contract. But that turned out all right. It took about two weeks after we put the claim in for us to get the water heater.

    I'm still in the middle of my recent claim for the washing machine. The tech had to come out twice and he found out that it couldn't be repaired. So they told me to call American Home Shield and they will order a replacement. I have to give them the measurements of everything and the model number. So, I’m surprised that the company that American Home Shield was working with didn’t give all that to them. It’s been taking a while for them to come around for that. I had another warranty company some years ago when I was living in Las Vegas, and they took care of something for me, but I didn’t have to go through all these things about telling the model number and the measurements.

    Overall, I’m happy that I have American Home Shield because they saved me money so far. They've stood by with what they said. Their contractors have been okay. Both of them cleaned up very well, which was nice. I didn’t expect them to go out, and they both went out on me, so that was good. The guy that came out for the washing machine seemed to know what he was doing.

    I had a claim for the stove and another one for the exhaust. The contractor for the stove was quick. They were in and out. They were there the first week to check, and then the following week, they brought the part, and it was done and over with. They were pretty good. I’m very happy with them. But the exhaust is not yet fixed and it’s almost two months now. The guy is supposed to come next week, bring the part, and fix it. The contractor didn’t even call and notify us what was going on. He only checked one of the exhaust. It was supposed to be two. He is also supposed to check the other exhaust next week.

    The reps at American Home Shield were very friendly and willing to help. One of the reps tried to call and verify what was going on with my claim.     Every experience that I've had with any of the technicians that American Home Shield have sent out has been positive. We recently had Mechanical Contractors come out to do a tune-up on my air conditioning unit. Upon the tech's arrival, he started looking at my unit and realized that they were parts missing. So, he came inside and he told me that he couldn't do anything. He couldn’t put any Freon in the unit because it would just come back out because certain things that should have been in place to prevent it from coming out were gone. He also advised me that my warranty insurance would not replace my air conditioning system. I contacted my homeowners insurance and explained to them what the technician said. They helped me file a police report. And now, the same company is coming out to do the evaluation on my units so that I could give an estimate to my insurance company to get the units replaced.

    The tech was very honest and open with me and I appreciate that since I am layman when it comes to mechanical things and how they operate and what to do about it. He was very, very careful not to tell me what direction to take because he didn’t want it to go into a gray area where he was telling me what to do, and I appreciated that.

    We have AHS for 15 years now and we've had several claims within that period of time. We usually make them over the phone and it's pretty easy. They say using the internet is easy but there's so much security problems on the internet until it makes it so hard to do anything on it. But AHS emailed me information and confirmations. Very nice, extremely cooperative, very pleasant guy.

    Recently, we filed a claim for the hot water heater and the tech that was sent out was very professional. We were surprised how quickly he got here. He also had a very good personality and he understood our problem very well as well as the urgency of it. He was very nice and extremely cooperative. He checked the hot water heater and said that he had to replace it. Since then, everything seems to be working fine. We were extremely pleased with that plumber and if we have something that's not covered by the warranty, we would call him and keep him on in case we need him again.

    Other than that, through our 15 years with AHS, we've only had one problem. But it wasn't them, it was the service person they had sent out on one particular issue. We weren't happy with him. But that was years ago. AHS had gotten several complaints about them and they no longer use them. I've also recommended AHS in the past on several occasions. There are a lot of new ones coming out now but all of them don't do as good a job as AHS. They are the first ones I've ever heard of and they were initially recommended to us by our realtor when we bought the house. This was a realtor we had tremendous respect for and he told us that AHS is the best one.

    American Home Shield sent out BestWay Mechanical to check on my air conditioner. They were paid $75 just to make sure everything was going properly because this was a new condo. The technicians were here for about 30 minutes. They walked around to look at the unit and I was told it didn’t look the best but it was operating properly. The adjustments throughout the unit, you wanna make sure it’s all going through. I’m glad that got done and you know the readings.

    But the one thing that I don't understand is that I noticed that the thermostat doesn’t give an overall reading. This condo was built in 2004 and I'm new to my home. I came from a home that was built in 1948 and we had central air and heat put in 1999. I am loving that because you could really adjust it. That's why I’m still a little confused about the part in the thermostat reading where it’s hot and I was like, “Let me turn on the fan.” But it got too cold. It’d be freezing cold in here but it’s still way up there close to 70. I was a little disappointed. I remember this morning thinking that I wish the technicians had checked that, but that might not be something they do.

    Another thing is the homeowner that owned the condo previously bought the AHS warranty which was more convincing for me to buy. I wasn’t really living here in the beginning. We had a storm here and my condo was struck by a lightning. I lost my TV and my receiver that went with the DirecTV. There’s also an outlet in my bathroom that doesn’t work. I called AHS about the TV and they said they didn’t cover it. But I didn’t know the outlet didn’t work then. I’ll give AHS a call and just kinda double check with that. They may send someone out to look at it.

    I’ve used American Home Shield many times and it has been extremely easy submitting claims. I had a blower unit issue at one point, another one when we were abroad and this issue. The upstairs was not getting down the temperature and I ruled out a few things. I called AHS and they said they had to call three other AC and heating and cooling companies because it's a rooftop condenser unit. So, K&J Mechanical, the contractor, was finally available and able to come and look at the unit.

    The guy I worked with was good and nice. I was at a play date with five other friends when he called and he was trying to rectify the whole situation because it was a rooftop. I told him that I could not be put on hold to wait around for him to call and come back to me. Either we do it later or he could make sure to call me back. He said he totally understood and he was super good about it. He said he would make sure that I get a call back from him and he followed through that arrangement which was awesome.

    The refrigerator wasn't cooling so I filed a claim online and American Home Shield sent me an email pretty quickly with the company that was gonna come and visit. Shenandoah scheduled the service for the next day, and they came out very early as they said they would. The first technician replaced the defrost probe. And then, the refrigerator worked for a little bit, but the it quit working again. So, the next technician came back, and he found a wire that was disconnected and reconnected it up and everything started working. But a couple of days later, the refrigerator quit cooling again. The same technician came out when we called again for support and he tested the electrical system and he said that the probe is shorted out, which means there may be a further electrical issue in the refrigerator. He recommended to the company that the refrigerator be replaced with a new unit.

    We're still working on the replacement right now. American Home Shield gave us what they would give us, and we found a refrigerator that we liked better, that is about the same cost. As soon as we get that delivered, we will file the documentation with them, and they would reimburse us the amount they said they would cover. Overall, American Home Shield responded quickly and we're gonna get a new refrigerator. Everything worked out great and we are very satisfied.

    Updated on 05/21/2019: Well Lawrence came out today to. So what’s next replace the parts on air conditioner. After which he finished unit still wouldn’t come on, so he went into garage and said something was wrong with heat so air wasn’t going to work, but yet it was running before the fan broke so he kept at it then he found a blown fuse. And fan they put unit is so loud it’ll wake up the dead. So what’s next I have granddaughter with sickle cell anemia and she can’t do heat because she has a very bad pain. Then she has to go to hospital. I feel like I’ve been treated very unfair with this and much as they’re worked on it it shouldn’t be this way year after year.

    Original Review: They sent someone out two times THIS YEAR, to check air system, still not cooling, then a week later, the system blows to bits, so now I have nothing. Then they’re going to tell me I have to wait for part that they don’t know when or if they’re coming in, without even offering me something to cool my house while I wait. When it’s big appliances, they don’t want to replace them. Just keep patching them up, and in the meantime you’re the one suffering. I feel like they don’t care enough about their customers, but a a payment late they’ll blow your phone up, I am so disappointed.

    Mother's Day morning I was stuck in the garage for over 20 minutes. One day last week it rained really hard, and then it was 100 degrees, and for some reason the garage door start to stick. It only sticks if it's raining really hard or if I'm coming in late at night. Then I have to park outside and enter through the front door. For safety reasons, I love my garage.

    We set up service for a leaky faucet May 2 2019. As of today, May 13, we have had no resolution. For the monthly fees and the $100 service fee, we have had absolutely zero results. Phone calls to live personnel did not resolve the situation. We have canceled our contract and have requested a full refund of ALL money paid out.

I was hung up on by a CSR today as well as being placed on hold for over 30 minutes. I don't know where their call center is now, but every person I spoke with today was foreign and there was an extreme language barrier.

    I called in for 2 different repairs, and didn't realize that they were sending 2 different contractors. The first one contacted me right away and came out immediately. He did both repairs. Then he called later to say he wasn't authorized to do the second one, and was not being paid. When I contacted American Home Shield, they refused to pay him because it wasn't pre-authorized, even though he fixed the problem. I am paying him out of pocket, because it isn't fair to him, he did the repair and it saved me time to only have one service call.

    You think purchasing a home warranty will save your hassles, time and efforts. Well think again. The most recent experience with AHS made me think it's a mistake to call them out for a service and it's a mistake to purchase home warranty. My service order with AHS on replacing a faucet caused more damage than the original repair. AHS said they don't cover the damage under the contract.

    I put in a service request with AHS to replace a leaking faucet that goes out from the wall. The technician from All-out pluming came. The technician had to break the mortar in the wall to take the faucet out. The technician didn't tell me anything up front but the moment I saw him breaking the mortar, I asked if the technician will fix and re-patch the mortar afterwards. I got the answer "yes, don't worry, I will re-mortar it. It will be same as before." But, in the end, after the faucet replaced, the technician was patching the wall using a different color. My wall mortar is white and his is dark grey.

    I requested the technician to stop and using the same color, and technician responded "this is the only color I carry. Actually I am doing a courtesy to re-mortar it as it's not covered in your contract." Well, that is very different information from what was given while he breaking the mortar. The technician left with a hole in the wall on that day and I didn't sign off their work.

    The next day I found there was a leak coming from the wall above the ground but just under the repaired faucet. I reported it to AHS and AHS had the same technician came back. It turns out the technician broke the faucet connector the first time and had to replace it. The leak is repaired but now the hole got way bigger as technician had to replace the connector as it's way deeper in the wall. Now the technician left with a much bigger hole in the wall.

    I called AHS for four times to only hope to repair the damage that was made - the big hole in the wall. In the last two calls with AHS, the customer service repeated saying repairing mortar is not in the contract. I had reinstated the mortar damage is not the original service request but the damage made by the technician. In the end, the AHS customer service left me on the phone with background music for long time and I had to hang up. I spent way much time and efforts on this repair and in the end, it caused more damage than the original repair. I am not gaining but losing more money, time and efforts.

    My garbage disposal went out and I called in for a work order. The gentleman I spoke to asked me if my garbage disposal is in my laundry room. After explaining that the garbage disposal was in my kitchen, they had the contractor came out and repaired the garbage disposal. 2 days later all of the water from my sink is draining into my dishwasher and flooding my kitchen. I called in to report it. The representative was going to put a work order for the dishwasher. I asked to Supervisor and was transferred to the automated system to start the call over again.

    My washing machine had went out. There was a part that had broken on the dryer, and it wasn’t turning properly. I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. The lady I spoke to was acting like she didn’t see that it was covered, and I know that was because they fixed the problem before. She wasn’t being very helpful with that. But after we resolved it, it was fine. I guess she wasn’t looking in the right spot. I had explained to her four times. But with the contractor, One Appliance Repair, I’m gonna call them again. Their customer service is outstanding. They were very thorough, took care of everything, showed me what was wrong, and went far and beyond to help me. Everything’s A-OK since the repair.     90% of the time that I have to make a claim, I go online and do it. The other 10% might be calling on the phone if I wanna give American Home Shield some more details or if I have a question about coverage. It's easy. I made a claim when the compressor on the outside of the house wouldn't shut off when it would go on. The air conditioning works but the compressor would just keep spinning. Consolidated Mechanical was the contracted company and the technician who came out knew what he was doing. He wasn't very lackadaisical. I talked to him and I saw what he did. He found some kind of a circuit breaker and something there was burnt. He replaced that and the compressor was fine. It was pretty easy. I've stayed with American Home Shield for the last few years because they're good. Sometimes, you might ask, "Why do I gotta pay a $100 for this?" But all in all, you know what it's gonna cost you and 90% of the time, it's pretty much cut and dry.

    It took two days for a contractor to get out for my air conditioner claim. There was an issue with the condensate lines on the AC. The contractor took a couple of hours but he got it done in one service. The AC was great since then.     We had a stoppage and drainage issue. It was going on for a month but then we saw that it was covered in our home warranty. So we gave AHS a call. However, interacting with customer service was terrible. There was a language barrier and that was frustrating. AHS should not have people outsourced. Their employees should be people who have good quality English. Still, the contractor who was sent was courteous. He made me feel at ease and showed me the problem.     I called American Home Shield on a Friday about my AC not working, and ice cube came out the following Tuesday. It was a pretty simple and straightforward process. They gave me a window when the technician was going to arrive from noon to 4:00 PM. What ended up happening was they called me at around 11:00. They said they were ready to come over. I said I'm still at work because they told me 12:00 to 4:00. So then, I went home. But it was fine. They ended up showing up at about 1:30. I told the tech what was wrong with the AC and what I had done to fix it already.

    There were some fuses in the disconnect box that were bad, so the whole system wasn't even turning on. I thought it was maybe the fan motor or the capacitor, but neither one of those were bad. What I ended up doing was I paid American Home Shield $75 and it only cost like 20 bucks. The tech fixed it. It was a real simple repair. He was professional and friendly.

    I would tell others that I have a home warranty company, American Home Shield, and once something breaks, it's covered. I'd call them and they'd come out and fix it. It's pretty simple and it's not like dealing with insurance where they question everything and they're like, "Why is it broken?" And they are reluctant to wanna fix it. That's why I like AHS. It works like I am paying for this service and there really wasn't any questions asked.

    We ended up having a water leak on our AC and we got that repaired. We called American Home Shield but they didn’t cover the drain pan so we had it covered. We had to come out of pocket on our own on that one. However, the AC, once the drain pan was done, it wanted to keep running. So, we had to call them back out and that experience was really cool, too.

    At one time, I called and talked to the representative for the drain pan. The other time, I did it online. Both times were good. The representatives did very well. The contractors were very professional. Both times, it was the same company. And both times they came out, they addressed the issue. On the final repair, they did everything they could and figured out the part we needed. They were very friendly as well. They cleaned up after themselves. And I just had my carpet shampooed and they were very nice enough to take off their shoes when they went upstairs. Overall, American Home Shield and the contractor were there when we needed them, and I couldn’t ask for a better first run.

    I had a plumbing issue. The water would not drain in the basement. So we called American Home Shield, they sent out a contractor and found out that a part had been broken and so it was not allowing the tub to drain. So he left and said he had to order the part. A couple days later he came in and replaced the part, and it’s worked since. They were very responsive, both American Home Shield and the contractor they sent, so I was very satisfied. I've filed about five claims with AHS and the contractors that they've sent have been professional. They normally wear booties on their feet when they come in and then clean after themselves too.

    I went online to file the claim and the website was pretty easy and simple to navigate through. I was given 24 to 48 hours or so to expect the contractor to come out. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas did show up within that time frame but the first gentleman didn’t inspect the air conditioning fully. Usually, when they come out, they check the upstairs unit and make sure it’s okay. Then they check to make sure if there is any air blowing then they go outside. This guy did not do any of that. He did not diagnose the problem properly either. They had somebody come to install the compressor and then they had somebody to come and diagnose the problem. But he was saying that it was electrical then it wasn’t. He had to come back out only to tell me that it was the compressor when he should have been able to diagnose that from the beginning. But they've come out before and I’ve never had any problems with them. Also, the service from the guy who actually fixed it was really good.

    The process took a much longer time and the weather was getting warmer so it was hot in my house for about a week. If he had diagnosed initially, maybe that time could’ve been cut in half. But I’m happy with the final outcome. Overall, my experience with the air conditioning company was good. But with the dishwasher company, it was a nightmare. I had a lot of damage because the guy did not do a good job.

    Apparently, he thought he had shut the water off. He didn’t know it was a bad valve but he should’ve made sure that the water was shut off. At that time, the water was pooling underneath the dishwasher, but slowly so it wasn’t too bad. That was on Thursday but by Saturday, the whole back side of the kitchen into my family room was wet. The dishwasher was leaking worse than before the guy came. Now, I have damage to my cabinets and I had to tear out my carpets. People are coming to see if they have to pull them out to replace them but I know they’re gonna have to replace them. It’s a mess.

    I was also really upset with American Home Shield. I called them when I found out that my carpet was getting wet. I started calling from Sunday at 7:00 until Tuesday. Nobody called me on Monday. Then when I finally got somebody who understood what was going on to send someone out, it was only to send an appliance guy that I didn’t need to tell me that I need a plumber. That was stupid. I kept telling them I needed a plumber. It was gonna take another day or two to get a plumber because I had to wait for this guy to come out to check it. That didn’t sit well with me. So now, I have all this damage and I had to put in a claim with my insurance company whereas, maybe some of this damage could’ve been prevented.

    They didn’t even say sorry either. They had people come out to dry so I didn’t have full use of my kitchen. Then now, I’m probably not gonna have full use of my kitchen again. Somebody should have called me from American Home Shield and say, “Hey, I’m really sorry but here’s what we can do.” Even if they pay the contractor for my deductible, that would be something.

    One of my experiences with American Home Shield was good but the other one is bad. We called them about three months ago about a furnace and an air conditioner combined that was not working. They sent out a couple of people to look at it. Some of them came back but there was one that we never heard from again. We contacted the one that we did hear back from. The technician had seemed very polite and knowledgeable. He also did his job efficiently. He said that a part needed to be ordered and that it would come fairly quickly. But that was the last we heard of anybody.

    He said the company would call to let us know the part was in and to make up an appointment for him to come install it. But that call was never received. Three months have gone by so we followed up. We contacted them twice last week. I called and I was told, conveniently, that the part was coming in that day. I was told the contractor would call me to set up an appointment. But we never received a call. I called the very next day and all of a sudden, they were like, "Oh that part hasn't come in yet."

    I had a water heater failure and I made a call to American Home Shield. I told them what was going on and they got in contact with a local vendor. They came back to me and I arranged a schedule with them, so everything was simple. I had no problem at all with the rep and the interaction with the contractor went fine. We bought the home three and a half years ago and apparently, the water heater that failed was not installed to code. So, it cost us roughly $600 of out of pocket in addition to the AHS fee. That was unfortunate, but it is what it is and it wasn’t the fault of the contractor.

    We got the policy right after we moved into our home and we’ve been with AHS for almost three years. This is the fourth claim that we’ve had and I have never had any issues. The others were all related to a couple of different plumbing issues, and the last one was a tree root going through our main sewer line going out to the street, which backed up everything into the basement. Since then, the repairs have been working fine. AHS has been working out well and I'm glad we've got the policy. The monthly fees we're paying and everything are what they are, but the cost of the new water heater alone probably covered almost everything that we've paid.

    Our fridge was not working correctly. We called American Home Shield and their reps were very helpful. We had somebody come out and they fixed the fridge. More recently, our air conditioner went out as well and the tech sent by AHS came and put coolant in the unit to cool it in. However, it still wasn't working properly. So, the tech came out again and said the problem was the coil. I understand those things break but I was curious as to why he didn't catch that problem the first time. I’m disappointed and a little concerned about that. Still, customer service has been good and AHS's techs come and they're very professional. They take care of what they need to. AHS has been great.

    I could hear a metal on my outside chiller, and I could tell that the bearings are going out on me. And about a day later it quit and froze up. So, I went ahead and called American Home Shield, and then, they had set me up with a contractor that was here in the house. He fixed the issue in no time. He blew out the drain, and it came on. I gave reviews for the contractors that came out. The guy had the motor, and then it took him no time at all to go ahead and do it. He is knowledgeable and everything is now working good.

    I was glad I had set up with American Home Shield. I was happy with the work. I got them because I can replace a refrigerator, stove or something like that, and when you’re talking about a central unit, it goes into the thousand. If anything goes wrong the cost could be very very high. And when you go to the thousands, that’s when you wanna have a good backup.

    I've been with AHS since July of last year and submitting a claim was easy once I found the number. It was getting the number that kinda threw me off. But they sent somebody over very quickly when I had an issue. My situation was all cleared up within a week. Our issue was the dryer wasn’t working unless we pulled it away from the wall. And if it was pushed up against the wall, it would short and would turn off. When the contractor came in, he noticed that the electrical outlet was not secured in the wall. So, he tightened up the screws and put everything back, and we were able to push the dryer closer to the wall. Everything worked without problems. They were very nice, he was very concerned about our situation and I was really pleased with him. One other thing is that I expected to get contacted afterward to say, “you owe this much.” But I was never contacted again. So, everything went well. I was really happy.

    My AC wasn’t cooling and AHS sent out BPM Service Heating & Air to repair it. They checked it out and the Freon was low on it, so they had to put a little juice in it. They did a good job and I was happy with their service. The AC has been doing fine since then and I would recommend them. Other than that, I submitted the claim over the phone and I noticed that AHS doesn't have enough staff. They give you too long a hold time and that’s a bunch of crap. When you have to hold on the phone sometimes for an hour to get to talk to them people, that’s just ridiculous. Also, my recent claim for the AC was the most expedient claim I've ever had. I filed it that morning and the techs were through before noon. I also had other contractors aside from them and they've been very satisfactory.

    Submitting claims with American Home Shield has been easy. I just call them up, and they’ll send out somebody to check the issue out and go from there. This time, they didn’t happen to find anything. I thought my refrigerator was leaking some sort of dark oil liquid. And Murphy’s Home Services came out to check it out and couldn’t find anything wrong. They seem to be knowledgeable of their job and did a thorough inspection. And everything was good. It was the tile floors in the kitchen, and there was this really thick and dark oily liquid that was in the grout line on either side of the refrigerator.

    A year ago, we had an issue with the plumbers who left the bathroom a mess. They had to replace the guts of the toilet, and they left the trash from the guts and the empty boxes in the bathroom. These two guys were just rude. I called American Home Shield and told them what they did. They told me that they would take note of it and that I will never see them again if I have problems.

    When we lost electricity in our outlets in our dining room, I had to call American Home Shield because I wasn't sure how to do a recall online. I had a great interaction with the rep that I dealt with for the recall. I know it is part of the contract to fix the electrical, but American Home Shield won't do it. The problem is in the wall, but they won't pay to get into the wall. They won't pay for the access to the electrical. It is frustrating because the last lady that called to give me the bad news was awful. I asked her who I could call if I had questions and she said, "What's there to question?" I told her that maybe I have questions, and then she told me to just call customer service. The claim is still open, and we haven't had the electrical repaired yet because we don't have the money to pay for the wall.

    I needed an AC tune-up for pre-season and I ended up having to call a representative at AHS to file my claim. Their website wouldn't take it online no matter how many different ways I tried, so I ended up calling it in to get that done. Other than that, my experience went well. The techs showed up on time and took care of the problem. They did a really good job, too and the AC has been running really well. The only thing that wasn't part of the service was draining it and I did that myself. I've got drip pans and it involved just taking the panels off and getting those out.

    So far, AHS has been pretty nice. Filing the claim with them was quick and easy to do. It was unfortunate that the website wasn't working that time, but everybody experiences technical issues. I prefer to do it online though because for the most part, I knew what I was looking for, especially since they had banner ads for the service because it was a pre-season. I knew where to go. Also, it's usually quick for me to do it online, where if I call in, I may have to wait a little bit before I get someone and determine if I am in the right department or not. All in all, I would keep the warranty for the next five years just to get that break-in period kinda thing then I would have to see how things are on the house and see if I want to keep it.

    Some cord from the back side of the dryer had an electrical pop and a belt had to be replaced. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and it was quick. It took four days for Gen Tech Appliance to come out and they were great. They came in, and were in and out as fast as they could. They rewired it and put a new power supply. Since then, the dryer has been back to normal.

    I have called and chatted with the customer service department on 4 different occasions starting in the month of March 2019 to inform them that I moved and no longer should have a contract. I have been charged each month and the contract is not cancelled. The call center representatives told me it may take several months before my contract will end because the cancellation department is in another country. I sold my home in February and did not renew or purchase an additional contract; however, American Home Shield has a contract open in my name.

    The service is great. The only thing is that it is hard to get through American Home Shield to get your appliances fixed. Communication is bad. But the people that they have that I’ve worked with was great, except for one company in Alabama. I have a claim for one of my rentals that have been open for over a year now. American Home Shield sent a repairman out. He diagnosed what was wrong with it, which he lied, tried to sell me a unit, and I refused. So, he let all of my Freon out. And the part he put on, he didn't hook it back up and told the company that I needed a new compressor. The company took his word for it, but they wouldn’t go back out and send someone to check to make sure that it was working.

    It was around 100 degrees in Alabama, so I had my nephew and friend come out and put Freon back in it. They also hooked the part the tech refused to hook up, and it worked. And it is still working. But now, American Home Shield won’t even close the claim because they need to have the guy fix it. I them that it is working now, but they told me that they have to put a new compressor in.

    Our recent claim experience with American Home Shield has gone very well. The contractor was very cordial, very professional and very knowledgeable on what he was doing. He was explaining as he was doing the investigation and the repair. It was a series of problems that required to do a couple of three or four different trips. That one particular incident on the p-pump kind of multiplied as they were making the repairs and it wasn’t in any way a fault on the contractor.     All my toilets were getting backed up, so it was clogged in between the septic tank and the piping that connects to the septic tank. I called in a claim with AHS and it was really easy. Their reps have always been really nice and helpful in making sure that I put in the right type of claim and I've never had any bad experiences with them. For this claim, AHS sent out SDL Plumbing. So far, I haven't had any issues with the contractors who came out here. But when I put in a claim for my stove, it took a long time to get it fixed and the part was delayed. Other than that. everything has been really good and anybody who has come out to the house have all been nice, informative, and worked to get the issue resolved.

    Sometimes it is hard to reach American Home Shield when I submit my phone over the phone, and if I do reach them, it is hard to understand some of the representatives. They don’t understand what I’m trying to ask or I don’t understand what they’re trying to tell me. It depends on who answers. The last contractor that they sent out was excellent. It took them a minute to get back with me after I sent the claim, but it worked out. The tech knew a lot and he knew what he was doing. After the service, everything has been good so far.

    My very first experience with AHS was very frustrating because I explained to them everything that I needed. But when the contractor had to come back out, they charged me again versus when the person that came out said it was a part of the same issue. AHS don’t really listen to what you’re saying and you have to be really, really detailed with them. So, I try to prevent them from charging again. Also, sometimes I feel that they are more about the money aspect of it, just like somebody coming out collecting your co-pay or deposit.

    For my recent claim, I initially called AHS and no one answered but it was during duty hours. I got the automated machine and I scheduled for someone to come out. But I was under the impression that they did not have my credit card information, and my account information is safe. AHS told me before that they didn’t have anything saved, so I didn’t understand how were they able to send it over to the request to have a contractor come over? And when I checked my account the following week, the money was taken out, but I never gave them any account information. So that concerned me.

    It's generally pretty easy making a claim with American Home Shield, but I have noticed that different representatives would ask for different criteria. Some of them, if I give them my information, they would go ahead and let me do what I need to do as far as calling in the work order. But some of them would say that my boss Aris doesn’t have me on here so there was nothing they could do for me. I would then have to call back in and get another representative. They'd then go ahead and take care of me. Sometimes, the process isn't as consistent throughout the entire program.

    It's also generally pretty easy dealing with AHS' contractors. We only have one company right now that we stopped using altogether which is AirDesign because we had issues. It was last year or maybe even 2017. But for the most part, I don’t have any issues with the contractors being able to get to our tenants pretty quickly. They usually keep me informed if they're unable to reach a tenant. They normally say they would give our tenant a call within 24 hours but usually, it's the same day like almost as soon as they receive the work order.

    We've had some claims that have taken a little bit longer and the only holdup is normally the technician getting the information. The technicians would take a long time to get whatever diagnoses they have to the claims department or to the authorization department. I'll have to keep calling in. I would call American Home Shield asking if they have the information and they'd tell me no. They then either call the vendor or I'd call the vendor and tell them to call the information in because it had been like a week and we wanted to get the issue fixed. The technicians submit the information online through some sort of a quick system but a lot of times, it takes them a while to get that done.

    American Home Shield usually does a good job and we don’t have to have a second opinion or call anybody back out. Right now, I have about 37 work orders with American Home Shield. I've been dealing with them for three years and the number of issues that I've had has been very minimal. When I'm buying a house, they’re who I would go with. I've also recommended them to people that I know that bought houses.

    Our furnace stopped working and we weren’t sure what was happening. The fan was on but no heat was coming out and it was still a little cold. So, we set up a claim with AHS. We did it online and they assigned Eagle Air to us. Their turnaround time was almost immediate. I was getting correspondence the next day, on Sunday, that someone would be calling me by Monday. And the tech called and came out on Monday.

    It ended up being a filter issue. Everything else was checked out, but he explained to us that the filters that we were using were not the right size and that was causing the problem. It was a little bit of a waste of money for us because we had to pay the deductible, but for peace of mind, that was okay. He didn’t have to repair anything but he was very professional. He called ahead, let us know an ETA, confirmed all of the information, and showed up when he said he would. All in all, our experience with AHS has been good and compared to the company we used briefly before, this is a huge improvement.

    Our AC is now fixed but I had a hard time. My air conditioner was failing and American Home Shield gave the contract to Airtronics, a third-party contract agency. The guy came up two days later, inspected and found that the compressor was going out. He said everything was taken care of and that I was covered. He said they would just order the compressor then he left the site. I was sitting tight, rest assured. He said that it would take a couple of days to arrive in their location and they would give a call to set up a new appointment to get the air conditioner fixed.

    But I had not received anything after three days and that was why I had to call Airtronics. I asked what was happening with my compressor and I was told that I had to talk to Home Shield about it. I called Home Shield and I was told that on my account, it looked like I had to pay some money towards refrigerant and some missing part. I could not understand Home Shield’s policy though. How come the compressor isn’t still covered? There was something like because compressor was failing, the coolant got dirtier so there was like a chain reaction. But the cost was not covered so I had to pay for the refrigerant cost and some other part.

    Only once I had paid did they go ahead and order the compressor. That was how I got delayed another five days. Nobody informed me that some action was required from my end either. I had to follow-up five times on why the status with Home Shield was different from the contract agency's. So it was a big time hassle for me. I got so frustrated that I had to tell Home Shield's representative that I was not happy with the insurance policy and I have to stop it if it is not useful. It was after five days and based on the weather condition that the contractor agency was going to come and install for me. The whole process took almost 10 days and I had no AC in my home for those last 10 days.

    It's a long process because the contractor is a third-party agency. They need to coordinate with Home Shield then again, the consumer needs to coordinator with the third-party separately. I had to follow up every time after I initiated the online request for service. So there was no smooth process in this whole scenario. Home Shield should be on top of everything when they are providing service to the customer. But nobody cares about what’s happening in the process or what follow-up is required on what end.

    There is no clear communication channel through email or messages. There was not a single notification email or message. There was nothing from Home Shield or the contractor agency. Basically, the person with this policy has to follow up every time. That is very inconvenient. Everything should be online, where everybody should be seeing the same page – whether the third-party, Home Shield or the consumer looks into it. But that is not happening in all this process.

    My heater in the pool spa would be dead at the beginning of every year and I would have to call somebody out. They would tinker and get it to work and sometimes, it lasted the whole season, sometimes, it didn’t. I just had it redone now and so far, so good. The heater is 45 years old and it may be well-past its life expectancy. American Home Shield doesn’t wanna replace it. They said they could fix it but a fix shouldn’t be required for the same thing on an annual basis. The first and second time they fixed it, I said it was fine. On the third time, I said it should be replaced and they said no. They fixed it back together and it went out again. This time, on a conservative basis, it has been an annual deal for the last five years.

    American Home Shield, for the longest of time, it was an excellent company. For the last couple of years, it got progressively worse where we had to hang on for as much as an hour in order to get us to somebody. And the level of customer service has been piss-poor. Also, what they cover has been ridiculous. We had a beef to do with them and we are ready to cancel American Home Shield and is still thinking about cancelling it. We had a water circulation pump on our unit in the house, and in order to operate it, you have a remote control portion. The pump works but the remote control portion went belly-up, and after fighting and going on, they denied it and I just gave up because my time is worth more than the money I had to spend to have a professional plumber who knew what he was doing to come in and fix it.

    The quality of work of the contractors vary from mediocre to satisfactory, not outstanding. With the last guy that was out here on the pool, if he did everything he said he did, then he gets a higher grade, but prior to that for the last number of years, the level has been barely satisfactory. We had somebody out here who had to work on a toilet, and the net result was he screwed it up, and I had to have a contractor come in to take care of it. I am a very unhappy consumer.

We disconnected the garage door opener from the door because we had to do it manually, and the tech was able to fix it.     It’s been over 13 years now that I've been with American Home Shield and I’ve had at least one claim in each of those years. Out of those 13 claims, I would say 9 were satisfactory and 4 were not. And of those 4, those were usually associated with the contractor. There was an issue with the heating unit one winter and when the contractor came out, they discovered that it was a part. But you have to wait on the part then you have to reschedule a follow-up visit. So there were three or four missed opportunities because we couldn’t get our schedules to synchronize. The repair took almost two weeks to get done and that was in the wintertime.

    Then there was another claim where the contractor came out and decided the real issue was some other component. That required me to go back to American Home Shield and set up another appointment through another contractor. Then when that contractor came out, he said it was not his issue either. One of the things I would like to see offered is the chance to select more than just one contractor. Usually, American Home Shield goes with whoever but if I've had a bad experience with a contractor and I have an issue with the same item, I’m gonna resort to having that same contractor come again. But if it’s an HVAC unit and I’ve got three contractors I can select from, I get a chance to improve my experience if I’ve had a bad experience.

    On the other hand, one positive experience I've had was when we had an issue with one of the toilets. The plumber who came out was very friendly and personable. He saw what the issue was and fixed that. Then he said it looked like some part may cause an issue later and he went ahead and repaired that as well, rather than let the issue linger and then I would have to call them back later. So I was very impressed with that.

    Then the most recent claim was the pre-season checkup on the air conditioning unit. I have an upstairs and downstairs unit so there are two but when the technician showed up, he said he could only check one because that was how the request was submitted. I did it online and it doesn’t allow you to specify whether you have one or two units. So what I found is that it’s best to talk to someone and call a claim in because then you can give them additional details that you cannot do online. When you do the online submission, you also get a confirmation email back from American Home Shield that specifies who the contractor is. Then you’ll hear from them. For this claim, I heard from that contractor within 24 hours. It was one that I’m familiar with and it was good dealing with them. They come out each year if I have an issue with the AC unit.

    I had a problem with my icemaker and American Home Shield contacted Appliance Connection. They sent out a tech who was so nice and helpful. I was very pleased with him. But when I first talked to him on the phone, I was a little bit apprehensive. He was a little tentative, but once he got here, we were just fine and he fixed the problem. He had to replace a part of the icemaker and when he showed me what it was, it was pretty obvious. I also have another problem which is a noise that the refrigerator has been making. It would sometimes coo like a dove, which normally to an old Southern boy would be relaxing, but sometimes it’s not. In defense of the tech though, he couldn’t fix it because we couldn’t duplicate or replicate the sound. It's an intermittent problem and we could not make it happen at the time.

    Other than that, as far as my dealings with American Home Shield, I have nothing but good things to say. When I first started with them, a few people said I should not have done that because of what they heard. But nobody would tell me what they had heard exactly.     I had an issue with my oven and I submitted a claim for it to American Home Shield. It took weeks to get the part and I wasn't happy about that. It was five to six weeks before the job was completed. Furthermore, there was somebody in their office who was not customer-friendly. That person would say "The part's not in. We'll call you when it's in". I wasn't really happy with that.

    Sometimes, I'm a little disgusted with American Home Shield. I'm less than pleased with them. The premium and the $75 service fee that's on top of it, hit me within a few days of each other. I just made the payment for my premium and then I had to turn around and give them $75 again before their technician would come out. It was a lot of money at the time. Also, I had a service I needed which I didn't go through them for. My faucet head needed to be replaced before a new washing machine could be hooked up. However, I figured that what I was gonna hear from AHS would be that they were not gonna cover it because the faucet head was never updated. That policy turns me off. I had never replaced my faucets so I never bothered to go through AHS.

    Additionally, I have a microwave right that they won't cover because something wasn't updated in it. It's a built-in microwave, and they won't cover it. So I ended up going out, buying a little tabletop microwave. Still, for the replacement of my garbage disposal, I called in, requested service and AHS's contractor came out fairly quickly. I got a new garbage disposal and that was taken care of without any problems. Overall, AHS has been okay and I have not done a whole lot out of pocket thus far.

    There were some issues with American Home Shield's online process in the beginning but my agent spoke with someone and the issue was taken care of very quickly. The contractor they sent was great as well. He called ahead of time and came in a timely manner. He was very helpful, nice and had a lot of knowledge. I asked him questions and he was able to answer all of them. At the time, the kitchen sink was a little bit loose and in the upstairs bathroom, the toilet was also a little bit loose and he clamped it on to the floor. Then in the tub where you turn the water on and off was a little bit loose as well. He was able to take care of all those three issues that we had.

    I had an issue with our air conditioner and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. For the follow-up, I did it over the phone to make sure that the claim is gonna go the way it's supposed to. Everything went really well and the process was easy to do. We've had a service check done on the AC and the technician said that he thought a valve was going bad. Another technician came out to confirm and saw that the AC was just low on coolant. The techs were super professional and I couldn’t have been happier with the way they did their business.     My washing machine went out and AHS sent over a technician to come and check it out. They determined that it needed to be replaced. And we're still in the process of replacing it now. They had delivered one. But we canceled and sent that one back and then we went to go purchase another one and then just sent my refund back from the purchase. I submitted the receipt yesterday and they said up to 10 days so I'm kinda waiting to see to make sure that their process is straight. AHS got a great contractor like they just sent out. One good thing is they let you choose the contractor that comes out. So far, AHS have been taking care of everything they need to take care of.

    Our hot water heater wasn't working so we had somebody come out and take a look at it. It turned out that it needed to be replaced. American Home Shield paid to replace the entire hot water heater and we only had to pay $100 out-of-pocket to bring it up to code. We were extremely happy that American Home Shield paid for all of that and we were definitely glad that we had a home warranty with them. I am definitely considering renewing our home warranty for next year.

    I would definitely reach out to the contractor that came out for any issue that are not covered by American Home Shield because they did such a great job. We haven't had any issues with the hot water heater since the replacement. It's great. I would definitely recommend getting a home warranty with AHS to any of my friends who are also homeowners.

    My AC unit wasn't cooling and coolant needed to be added to it. I submitted a claim online for its repair to American Home Shield and it was a quick and painless process unlike before when I submitted a claim for my oven. Their contractor gave me a couple of calls to let me know that he was on his way and that he was delayed at first. When he arrived, his service was so-so. He didn’t come with all the equipment that he needed and he asked me for stuff. However, I hope that the leak stop that he put into the system holds because $175 every time isn't gonna cut it. Still, I've recommended AHS to my friends.

    Horrible selection of Contractors, Medallion plumbing came out and replace my water heater, it was crooked and their attempts to correct were unprofessional. American Home Shield offered NO help during the process. At the end I have a damaged "New Water Heater" that looks like a "non professional" installed it, maybe they were and AHS just does not care. When calling customer service they did not return calls or listen to my issue. If they send out one more non-professional I will cancel my policy.

    My water heater wasn’t providing hot water anymore and then, the system at the back of the toilet just kept running, and it wasn’t flushing very well at all. Also, the tub was completely stopped up and it wasn’t draining at all. When I submitted the claim online to American Home Shield, I got a referral to the place which came last time, and they were good too. However, they called me and said they wouldn’t be able to come until mid-May. They suggested that I call AHS back to get someone else and say that it was needed ASAP.

    AHS submitted the request to Ace Plumbing after I called them. However, they didn’t submit all three needs. So, Ace Plumbing called me and told me that they got the referral for this one thing. They said I would need to call AHS back. So, I called them again and it was difficult to get them to understand that I needed these two other things added to it. I already had something scheduled with Ace and we were ready to go. I just needed those two things added. They kept trying to switch me back to the original place that didn’t have any availability until later. I didn’t wanna switch back to the other place because we couldn’t wait that long. Still, I highly recommend American Home Shield. That was the first experience where it was frustrating getting things sorted out but as far as price and ease, it’s usually very simple. I don’t know what I would do without AHS so, I’m probably never not gonna have them.

    American Home Shield is still trying to get my AC fixed. The contractor found out that the circuit board was not good. So he replaced it but the circuit board he replaced it with was not good as well. Now he is getting another circuit board. It has been over a week since we started with the service and today will be the fifth or sixth call to have the contractor come out. The AC is cooling, but it is not cooling correctly.

    When I called American Home Shield the other day to tell them that something was still not right, they asked me if I wanted them to send another company. I told them that no and I’m fine with the current company. The contractors have been very helpful and very apologetic. I haven’t lost my complete faith in them yet. But if they don’t fix it today, then I’ll be calling American Home Shield.

    My wife's girl friend had a home warranty with AHS and she recommended it to her. Then, my wife came home one day and said that she got one. We're in pretty good shape and we have a pretty nice home. It's big and a lot of things just go wrong with it. Whatever I can do, I can fix myself. But when it comes to air conditioners and some of those other stuff, a smart man knows his limitations. So far, AHS is really good. It's the first time we've ever had a home warranty program and you always hear bad stories about it from people. But I always wait and find out myself. I don't pay any attention to people when they do that stuff. I'm sure they mean well but that doesn't mean that's gonna happen to me.

    Recently, we noticed that our air conditioner wasn't turning outside and when we looked at it, the fan was bent. At the time, we forgot we had the plan with AHS and we called our regular guy out. He told us that if he have a plan, we need to take it up with the company. He also said that the motor looked like it had oil coming out of it, so the motor had probably gone bad. So, we called AHS about it and they assigned A-US Air Conditioning of Texas to our claim. The tech got out here in a timely manner, within a day or two afterwards, and he was fabulous. He replaced the motor and did a little check-up. Since then, we've had no problem at all. I'm hoping we get him again if we ever have a problem again because he really knew what he was doing and was very helpful to us.
