The hot water pressure in the kitchen sink was very low and it wasn’t getting hot. I also had a leak in the water filter dispenser. I filled out something online with American home Shield and they assigned Bear Plumbing who then called me. They couldn't make the appointment on time when I was gonna pick my son from school, so they said they would send a guy out on Saturday to fix it. I was okay with that. Then the two guys came right at the right time that they said. They’re both really nice guys. They fixed my issues and everything worked out okay.
There are little things hidden in the fine print in the contract with AHS. For instance, on our water filter claim, the two repairmen got there and said that they were not allowed to fix it and that they only fix something else. Sometimes, the repair company that AHS choose to send aren’t the greatest. But Bear Plumbing happened to be good. I’ve had some poor experiences with them. But all in all, I was happy with this last claim we had. Also, the people over at AHS are handcuffed by the wording of the contract or the dumb diagnosis that their contractor gives me. But most of the people over there that I spoke to seemed very nice and helpful.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

American Home Shield is great. I'm really happy we switched to them. With our most recent claim, we had to get our air conditioner fixed. The first time I submitted it to get the tune-up, the guy never showed. So, it was really annoying. That was back in March. Then, we didn't know what to do, so we ended up canceling that and we got a service repair. It kinda turned out to be a waste of money, but Baker Service place came. They were fine. And our unit has been great.
Good morning Colleen,
Thank you for providing us with feedback regarding your most recent American Home Shield experience. It is our goal to provide our customers with a great experience and team of contractors to complete the repairs. We hope you continue to enjoy!

I was with American Home Shield and I had a bad experience with them. I went to another home warranty and had a worse experience there so I came back to American Home Shield. When I had an issue with the tub drain, One Source Plumbing came out pretty promptly and everything was handled good. This experience has been a lot better than the last time. American Home Shield must have refined their program because my monthly service fee was starting to just go up. It seemed like it's almost every six months. When I went back to them, it was lower than when I came when I ended with them. The other company was cheaper, but they also didn't cover a lot of the stuff.
For example, the plumber wasn't sure to get to the drain if he would've had to go through the ceiling of my garage 'cause it was on the second floor. And if they open up a hole to fix the damage, they leave the hole open. It is up to the property owner to get the hole fixed. I remember when I was with American Home Shield, I had another leak in my big Jacuzzi tub in my master bedroom which was upstairs. They opened the hole, went up in there, fixed it, and closed the hole. The only thing I had to do was the texture. I got somebody to come and do the texture and paint which was nothing. But the other home warranty company didn't even put the drywall back in there. They left the hole open and just stuck with it. So, that's one of the main reasons why I left them and went back to American Home Shield.
The only thing that they have better than American Home Shield, which I think American Home Shield is working on, is what they have in the package. I upgraded to platinum and they covered all my electronics. But when I signed up with American Home Shield a month or two ago, the lady told me that they are doing it in some states, but it hasn't reached Nevada and Arizona. I'm still with the other home warranty on my electronic components.

The first time I called American Home Shield, they came and realized what the problem was and they replaced the AC model. Then I had another problem with the other unit and the guy stated that it was something with the memory. Today they called me and they're supposed to replace the panel tomorrow morning. The first time I submitted by internet was pretty easy. The second time was different because something happened with the company. Nobody came and I called American Home Shield, and they said they already changed the contractor. But that's not a big thing. I'm very happy so far.

Whenever I have an issue, I usually call or try to go online. I pay my $125 maintenance fee and American Home Shield is always getting me someone within 24 to 48 hours and the problem has been resolved. If it's something that needs to be replaced, they replace it. They come fix it if they could. They don't have to charge right away. It can wait 'till the contractor comes out and the job is completed before they charge the 125. That's my only complaint, but that's their policy. The contractors they've sent were all professional, easy, no problems. Recently, the fuse in the AC needed to be replaced and they sent Metro Air Services out. I've used AHS for my primary residence and my rental property and both experiences have been great.

When I first bought my home 18 months ago, I got AHS. Upon having my first issue in the house, something simple in main bathroom, handle came off. They sent someone out a few days later, then told they would need to order part. 10 days later the company returned and attached piece to fix handle. A few months later, same handle broke off sheering the metal it was attached to off. Come to find out that the part they company had ordered wasn't the correct part and they had rigged it using the wrong part, which is what caused the the metal it was attached to sheer off. When I tried to have it repaired correctly I was told by AHS that they never authorized the original repair, and they would not fix it! I then had to pay $800 out of pocket to fix something an AHS tech had broken. The customer service with AHS is always a runaround and you can never speak to a supervisor!
David,

We’re selling the house and we had a home inspection. The person doing the inspection noted that there was an issue with some breakers and a GFR switch. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and it was not too bad. But they subcontract their customer service out to different countries and there’s a bit of a communication issue. One gentleman I talked to was very difficult to understand and I had to ask for a supervisor. Then, there was a lady and she was well-spoken, but she was not very customer-friendly. One Call Contractors came out the next day for the electrical issue and they did a good job.
Also, American Home Shield sent a contractor out in 2017 and the work that the person had done didn’t install the garbage disposal properly, which was also brought to our attention by the home instructor. I’m 100% disabled and I couldn’t get up underneath to inspect somebody’s work under the sink. It's a fire hazard and it’s still not fixed. American Home Shield said that they would have to charge me again for someone to come out which rubs me the wrong way because I already paid. I'm still waiting to get that resolved. But it’s very difficult to get American Home Shield to get good customer service these days. They follow a script and it’s not an easy process. On each call, I'm on the phone for about 45 minutes, sometimes longer, before somebody finally picks up. In one instance, they put me on hold three or four times just to ask for help from somebody else and that was when I asked for a supervisor.

My air conditioner went out. The fan failed. Brandon, the technician from United Air Temp, came. He was very professional, courteous and timely. He did a phenomenal job and was very knowledgeable. He even gave a follow-up call the next day to make sure everything was good. So, I greatly appreciated him. If I didn’t have the insurance, I probably will go to them again in the future or any recommendable place. The only thing is though I don’t know what’s it like for insurance companies, I thought the reimbursement for a refrigerant was pretty low. But I’ll still use American Home Shield in the future.

But when you go a complete year or two with no claim, why would the rate be going up? It’s a little frustrating.
American Home Shield also ended up removing my water softener without notification some years ago. I guess that’s something that was just completely dropped as a coverage. If I was notified of it, it was probably in small print because I read most of the documents that come through, or at least skim through them, and it wasn’t in bold. But that is like a major change and should have been the first thing you see on the paperwork. I was a little bit blindsided on that. But those are the only two things. I call American Home Shield when I have a claim and the reps are straightforward. Then this depends on the company coming out but usually, they come out within the same week. Gold Coast Appliance is one of the companies that American Home Shield has sent out. That company pretty much worked on through all my appliances and they did well.

Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. From time to time, there may be a yearly increase for all customers due to the overall increase in Parts, Shipping, and Labor. That is normally included in your renewal information along with any items that we will no longer cover such as the Water Softener. Our heat pump went out and the first people that American Home Shield called said that they tried to get a hold of me twice but I was here all day and nobody called. They went ahead and charged me for that service call. Then, I had to call AHS back and I got an email right away that they called somebody to come out and fix it. When I didn't hear from whoever they called, I called AHS back and they got me this guy from Oxford who did a good job. He was pleasant, nice and knew what he was doing. He said to call him if I had any trouble and he would come right back. Since then, the performance has been good. However, when I took out the contract, I was under the understanding that if anything went wrong, they would fix it and if they couldn't fix it, I would get a new one. Now, they said that if my heat pump needed Freon, they would pay the first $10 and we would have to pay the rest. I don't like that but I would still recommend them to a friend.

A capacitor blew and when I filed a claim with AHS, they sent out ES Heat & Air. They replaced the capacitor, monitored it, and it started working again. They did a great job and they were there when they said they'd be there. The guy they sent out was great as well. Aside from that, when I first got the warranty, I thought I was having a issue with my water heater. But the tech came out, looked at it, and said that the only thing he could do was flush it. And AHS doesn’t pay for that, so I paid $75 for nothing on that one. Other than that, the reps I talked to from AHS were good although there was a girl who was kinda hard to understand.

I don’t use American Home Shield that often but when I do use it, they are responsive and helpful. My garage wasn’t opening and I called them. They gave me a contractor but something happened and I called them back and cancelled that order. They put another order in for another contractor. However, that contractor was gonna take one week to come out to fix my garage. So, I called them back, and I told them, “Hey, I need a different person. I can’t wait a whole week.” They cancelled that order, put another order in, and I gave them a contractor that was local to me. They came in about one day, and they fixed it.
One of the representatives was pretty well-educated and helpful. The first two weren't attentive to my issue. What they explained to me was their system was not transferring the work order to the contractor so there was a period of delay for about two days. The contractor did not get the work order, so they couldn’t even come out. They were professional but weren't knowledgeable on the system. They probably need a little bit of training.

I’ve had American Home Shield since around 1997 with an exception of about two years of hiatus when I was transferred out of town. And so far, my experience has been good. But I don’t like that I can’t really get ahold of anybody by phone. When my sump pump went out, I went online to submit a claim. But sometimes, I may have a question and it's not one of my choices online. So I don’t know how to ask it or how long it would take if I leave a message. It’s not just Home Shield though. It seems to be the nature of the beast for the internet.
The contractor was D & L Plumbing and I’ve used them before at the request of Home Shield. They came out very quickly and were very professional. They did a replacement but about three weeks later, it went out again. So I went online to Home Shield and explained that to them. They called D & L out again for a callback and they had it replaced in a matter of 30 minutes. So far, it’s been working fine. But there’s nothing being held here. It’s just a bad pump.

I put in a request over the phone for our freezer that was not cooling properly. A guy came out, replaced a part, and my wife was pleased. Our freezer isn't thawing out anymore, so everything's good. However, American Home Shield's website is impossible to get around and figure out. You can't tell what's due or anything else. It's very poor. I also kept getting paper bills saying an amount was past due and I knew it wasn't. It was confusing, so I confirmed by phone and it wasn't past due. Almost every other website, where there's payment involved, there is a way to set up or make a payment. It was like I couldn't get AHS to take my money. Still, even though it was hard to get done, our issue with billing has been straightened out now because they're billing my credit card on a monthly basis.

After the repair, the fans worked well. But one of them wasn't working. It was very slow. So I called the contractor and they were very nice and polite. They told me to call AHS to do a recall and I did that. Then we rescheduled a date when they would come. All in all, AHS has always been very good for me. The blower outside would not come on. I called American Home Shield and they were saying they needed to go ahead and get payment. I had no choice. If I was gonna get service, I had to go ahead and arrange payment. I would rather have gone ahead and given them my payment information but let them not charge my account until the work is done and I’m satisfied with it. I hate paying for things in advance because then I have no recourse if I’m not happy.
I called on a Tuesday and their first vendor said that they could come out but it would be Wednesday of the following week. My city was going through a record-setting heat wave and I thought I had heard American Home Shield has a 48-hour policy. I said I wasn't waiting until Wednesday of next week. I called American Home Shield back and told them we needed to find somebody else. They found somebody that could come out that Friday. That wasn’t immediate but it was a lot better than Wednesday of the following week.
That vendor came out and I was thinking they were not American Home Shield's number one vendor, but I’d rather go ahead and get it looked at. I ended up really liking this vendor. I had good experiences with American Home Shield but I also had two bad experiences for the latency on what was going on. A tech came in for my refrigerator, looked at the problem and stated that a compressor needed to be ordered. That was done but when he came back out to install the compressor, it was before a holiday and he basically said he was ready to his holiday weekend started. He walked out, saw the part that was ordered and said he couldn't do the part because he wasn’t given enough time to do it. He said this was more of a re-call so he was gonna see if they could reschedule me then he left.
So I called the company back and told them what their tech had said. The agent on the phone apologized then sent him right back to do it. He proceeded to install the compressor but about two hours into it, he basically said he couldn't do it and left. There was nothing told to me, if a part needed to be ordered, if he was coming back or whatever the case may have been on why it wasn’t completed. So I went back and forth with American Home Shield about this particular company. For almost a week, the technician didn't call in the reason why he could not complete the job. So another company, A Dobre Day, was called in to see if they could complete the job. But A Dobre Day said he had taken everything apart so they could not touch it. They didn’t know exactly what he did. They just knew he took the refrigerator apart.
But the tech who came and the young lady who works in the office were very professional. They helped me as much as they could. A Dobre Day reached out to me and explained what the process was. They also called American Home Shield to let them know exactly what their findings were. So then American Home Shield reached out to me and basically said the same thing that that company said. Because it was the previous company that did the mess-up, they were gonna send that company back out to either fix the problem or restore the refrigerator back to its original state before they started.
So the request went back out to the previous company. I got a phone call from their agent and their agent told me that they were trying to figure out what was wrong with my refrigerator so they could send a tech out. I went through the whole spiel as if I hadn't been dealing with them for a month. That particular company's receptionist said that the tech hadn't even told them what's wrong. Nothing had been turned in from this particular tech about the refrigerator at my home. So that particular agent had to reach out to the manager of that tech. Finally, later on that day, the agent called back. She said that from what she was told, the cost of the parts is gonna be more than the cost of the refrigerator so American Home Shield is gonna reach out to me and replace the refrigerator. That was on Friday, and I haven't heard anything since.
American Home Shield was helping me out more in the beginning. I had an incident with my dishwasher some time ago and when they said that they would replace it, they immediately sent me an email of what's recommended along with additional dishwashers that I could choose from. But I ran into an issue with my washing machine and it was more of somebody dropped the ball. I was told American Home Shield was gonna replace the unit and American Home Shield also stated that they were gonna replace it. But for three weeks, no one called to say when. I never received the email or another call, and that went on for almost a month.
Finally, I called and the agent said it was showing in their computer that I was gonna get the new washing machine but that no one had called me and no one had sent out the email. So then they referred me to the appliance replacement department and they were able to do it over the phone. I wasn’t able to look at it because I had been without a washing machine for a couple of months and I just needed one to actually get things done.

I've had American Home Shield for over two years. Their claims process is very easy and I appreciate that except for one claim. Our spa was leaking. I added additional insurance for the inground spa and I had a plumbing issue for the spa but that option wasn’t there. When I clicked on plumbing, it was under it. It was not a pool-related one so I had to call instead of filing the claim online.
American Home Shield sent out Aqua Check and they came the next day immediately. But later, they told me they couldn't fix it. They were waiting on the insurance company to approve the fix. I waited over the weekend, for a few days then they came over. The technician was a very nice person and he fixed everything. I was happy with his service. Overall, it was good except for the waiting in the middle part.

The claims process was simple. I didn’t even get to meet the contractors because I was at work. My wife was at work as well. I just left the key in the mailbox and told them, “Help yourself.” They knew what they were doing. I would recommend the service.

Submitting the claim with American Home Shield online for the microwave was pretty easy. It took two days for them to send somebody out. And I was very pleased with the person who had come out to help us. He was very good. There was a part that needed to be delivered in five days and then he came right out and repaired it. Each one from AHS has been great, very professional, and very personable.

American Home Shield sent out Molina’s Air Conditioning & Heating because our air was out. They weren’t sure if it was the air because they noticed that one of the breakers to the air conditioner had burnt. Before they could see about the air conditioner, an electrician had to come and do what he had to do. An electrician came, found the diagnosis and turned it in to American Home Shield. The breaker that was burnt needed to be replaced. We're waiting for American Home Shield to tell the technicians they can fix it because our air is still out.
We've had American Home Shield for over 10 years. Whenever I have a claim, I do it on the internet because it's faster. I tell everybody tthe company is great and we won't go without them ever. My son signed up with them when he bought his home and my friend called me the other day asking about the warranty company that I have.

Making claims is real simple now ‘cause you just go on and say you have a problem and submit the fee. Within a day or so, the guys will call and make an appointment to come out. There was one case where we had a dishwasher that wasn’t working right, and AHS sent somebody out who was a one-person company. He came out, had no idea what he was doing, indiscriminately replaced the part which didn’t fix the problem, wouldn’t return any phone calls and wouldn’t come back out. We worked with American Home Shield customer service and finally, they capitulated and sent General Electric professionals out, and they fixed the problem.
Everybody else that has come out here over the years has done a great job. Recently our garbage disposal was leaking at the bottom, and JF Whitlow, Jr. & Sons came out and replaced it. Everything’s fine, so they did a great job. I would certainly recommend American Home Shield because of how easy it is to put in a service request and how quickly you get a response. That’s what I signed up for and it’s worked for us very well.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for probably more than 20 years ‘cause I’ve had them on different homes. Over the years, I have been reasonably happy. There are occasions where you don’t hear from a contractor and you have to go chase them. Some contractors are better than others. I keep all the receipts and I make a comment on there to the degree I can request somebody in the future.
Recently, I had a garage exhaust fan that stopped working. The motor was running but the blade wasn’t turning. I did not do the claim online because I had already had the same repair a couple times over the last 10 years. I live in Arizona, so the fan runs fairly frequently and continuously. The times before, they would send out somebody from air conditioning. They'd say, “No, we don’t do this. This is an exhaust fan. You have to call an electrician.” So, I would call back, and they would send out an electrician. I was already leery of the issue, and I wanted to be specific because American Home Shield's categories don’t quite cover it. I talked to a customer service person and was very specific. The first time, she referred someone to me and for whatever reasons, we did not connect. I didn’t think he was calling me back, and he couldn't seem to get ahold of me. It turned out to be the guy who eventually came.
So, I called back early the following week and I told the agent that I had not heard from the contractor and asked would they send somebody else out. They assigned a new electrical company, and I again explained to them that they need to be specific and make sure that these people, whoever they sent, worked on these kinds of things. They assigned a new company who got ahold of me right away and came out right away. Tim looked at it and said, “Oh no, we don’t work on these. I will go back and get ahold of American Home Shield and make sure they understand that it is a garage ceiling exhaust fan and they need to send somebody else.”
I then get a call from American Home Shield a few days later, and since I wasn’t home, it was sent to the voice mail. It was saying that they had received a report from the contractor that said it is an industrial fan and is not covered under a certain section in the contract. They could not service it. I then had to call back again and I finally found a receptive agent and explained the history and the guy who came out to see it. It’s not an industrial fan. It’s a ceiling exhaust fan. They cover attic exhaust fans, and this is even more accessible than an attic exhaust fan.
They then sent out the guy who eventually came and this time, we connected. He was excellent. It turned out that he had worked out this thing years before. He got up there and looked at it. The blade had gotten stuck and had snapped off from the bearing. He said it was not fixable and it had to be replaced. By this time, we were starting to get into the 90s here. I was concerned because in Tucson, this thing is imperative, and we knew we’re getting into the 100s.
He said, “I first have to get approval from AHS. As soon as I do, I will try and find one and I hope to be back in a couple of days. I’ll call you before I come.” The next morning, they were at the door, saying, “Look, we found it and we had a chance to put it in, and we’re gonna put it in right now.” They did have to get up on the roof to reinstall it, but it took them 15 minutes to replace the unit. So, it ended well. It was an unpleasant journey getting there but everything is working fine.

American Home Shield was part of our closing deal after recently purchasing our home (not our choice). We were only here about a month and my husband noticed the compressor wasn’t running or sounding correctly so we made a service request. One week later a tech showed up and said it was fine, added some Freon and left. And now not even two weeks later we had to make another service request. This time the AC is completely out! It took them 5 days to even get a tech out, 5 days no AC! He came only to tell us the compressor needs to be changed, oh really?!?! But bc nothing was running he isn’t sure. So now once he writes up his “diagnoses” it has to be approved, so more waiting, then ordered, more waiting! It is 90 degrees currently in Louisiana. We’ve had to go spend $500 on window AC units to keep us from dying of heat exhaustion and so the things in our NEW home don't start to mildew.
I really feel they are dishonest and are only worried about making money. After all it is $75 every time someone is called out and the mark up on Freon is triple and everything has loopholes to screw you. They only want to try and “Repair” things not truly fix or replace/change out. We were told we were getting a great warranty with American Home Shield warranty company when we signed our closing paper. We were definitely lied to. The bottom line is terrible coverage and even worse customer service because they do not care about your problem!

My washing machine broke on April 21. On the 22nd we called and set up our first appointment. The technician came out, saw what was wrong and ordered parts. The next time out he replaced the motor and condenser. Unfortunately he didn’t replace the transmission and clutch assembly that was broken. Out he comes again and says it’s broken and can’t be fixed. Five days later I find out they have ordered the parts and it will take 10 days to get them in. He shows up today - spends two hours taking it apart - it’s corroded and doesn’t have the parts. Now I have to take time off work again for them to come back. I’ve been without a washer for over a month. This should have been replaced day one. Run away, don’t use this company.

So I have about a 20-year-old upstairs AC unit that has been limping along with yearly freon ads. I have had this warranty for around 16 years. My upstairs unit has finally gotten where it will not keep freon. AHS has called to tell me that I need my ancient system inside air handler replaced. AND that my cost will be $1520. What a joke of a company. I've had another opinion tell me the whole system should be replaced to work correctly because technology has changed so much in 20 years. I will be canceling and leading a TELL THE TRUTH campaign to anyone who will listen. And my mouth is Big.

Absolutely horrible experience and wouldn't recommend at all. On Wednesday 5-31-2019 our HVAC stopped working. I called on Wednesday at 9:15 to place a claim. I was sent a follow up email that said a vendor would contact us to schedule an appointment. Thursday came and went without any phone call or email to set a appointment. I called the claims department to alert them that the vendor assigned was unresponsive. They said that they would reassign it and I would hear from them. Not trusting their system I requested the phone number to their vendor. I was given the number by the claims department and when I called they explained that they might be able to get me scheduled for Monday afternoon 5 days after the claim was filed.
I called the claims department back and voice my concerns with sitting in a hot house with no HVAC for 5-6 days and they couldn't have cared less. The worse part is I called 3 separate companies and all 3 could make it in the same day and 1 within a hours time. I gave the claims associate this info and her response was no outside vendors were allowed to perform the work unless none of their vendors are available even if they are scheduled out a week. Bad experience and have already signed up with a new Warranty Company.
I apologize for the delay in service & the overall way your work ordered was handled. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience.

After 2 weeks and 16+ hours of phone calls, I was finally able to get the service follow-up I had been promised. AHS even approved a repair that wasn’t covered by my original contract. While the final outcome was very good, I give only 3 stars because, in my opinion, getting this resolution should not have taken so much of my time and effort. That said, AHS did finally make good on their promises and even went above their obligations on the repair.

Updated on 06/10/2019: So, after writing a bad review and fighting with 5 different managers over 8 hours on May 31, 2019, I *finally* was promised a new electrician would be dispatched to my house this morning, June 10, 2019. Unfortunately, American Home Shield decided to cancel the work order on June 7, 2019 without telling me. In fact, I didn’t find out about the cancellation until I called the electrician to ask why he hadn’t arrived yet (after taking a day off work, of course).
So, I called their service line and, as of right now: 8:45 AM CST, June 10, 2018; I have spent an hour fighting with a customer rep who claims all the notes from my previous conversations somehow aren’t showing up in her computer. I’ve asked 6 times to be transferred to a manager and am met with nothing but excuses about “high call volume” and “I don’t see the notes here where you spoke with all those other managers.” This company is a joke and I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.
Original Review: Bought a house on May 1, 2019 with an AHS warranty covering essential systems like electrical, HVAC, etc. Oven wasn't working on move-in despite working during inspection. GE tech explained the house's supply power was not balanced and needed evaluation by an electrician. AHS sent a tech from R&M Electric out of St. Louis MO. Tech came over, broke my oven door while moving the appliance, claimed the house wiring was bad all the way to the breaker box because he's an idiot who doesn't know 4-wire ovens may be connected to 3-wire supply circuits, refused to replace the door he broke and never submitted a diagnoses to AHS.
When I called AHS to inform them of this on Saturday, May 25, I was told I would receive a refund of the $75 paid to them for the service call after either 48 hours or R&M Electric responded to my complaint. Not only did I not receive the refund as originally promised, but I was informed by another agent today, May 31, that no refund would be issued and no alternate contractor would be provided. So, I paid AHS $75 to send some incompetent "technician" over to my house and break my stuff while not diagnosing (let alone repairing) the problem. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy, let alone anyone looking for a reliable, reputable and professional warranty protection service. If I could rate at zero stars, I would.
Hi Steve,
I understand your frustration with American Home Shield and the delay in service that has been experienced to have your oven repaired. I would be glad to assist and intervene to reach a resolution.

I just had the most horrible experience with the company my warranty people used. They scheduled & cancelled on me 3 times due to a part that was "in stock" & then no it wasn't.... miscommunication between parties. AHS was blaming Total Air Care & they were blaming the AHS for not being able to order parts from specific companies and under no circumstance to order express shipping.
My dad went online & found the part & could have had it next day but the AC company stated it would take ANOTHER 5-7 days to get from this company (mind you it had already been 13 days of waiting). Not only going 23 days without air - did I find out that the original tech that came by - could have bypassed & had the AC going the whole time. If this is what I have to go through to get something repaired - I will not be renewing my warranty. I was really hoping being a single female, on a fixed budget, that this would be a lifesaver for me but it was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.

I have got to be the cheapest person on the planet to stick with these guys. HVAC company they sent out tried to rip me off for $2000 worth of freon. And my AC unit takes 3.25 pounds of it. I of course refused, told the guys to leave. Then they called me back at 8 pm and told me I should just flip the switch next to the furnace and the AC would turn back on (didn't work). So let me guess.. They would have charged me $2000 for freon and then just gone back up and flip the switch. FYI, the scam artist of a company is HVAC SRVCS out of White Plains, NY. Complete scam artists.
I then called American Home Shield. Informed them about this. To send someone else out. Every day they keep saying wait another 24 hours for the detailed diagnosis from the HVAC company then we can. It's been five days. No AC. My regular AC service company who does my units was over two weeks ago for the tune ups. No freon required at all they said. So now I'm stuck. Still waiting on American Home Shield to even authorize sending someone else out. I have got to be the cheapest person on the planet to stay with this company. For another $100 bucks this problem would have been fixed already. Stay away, AHS is a complete scam. The contractors are horrible and try to rip you off. And AHS customer service people are completely inept. Just spend the extra $100 bucks to get the problem fixed by a reputable company.

After approval they ordered the part needed but refused to expedite shipping and it took 4 days to come in. The contractor came out to fix it last night and American Home Warranty ordered the wrong part. After calling this morning to ask to speak to a supervisor we were told that isn’t possible and the customer service rep said he was unable to do anything to compensate us for the weeks that we’ve spent in 90+ degree heat with no AC. So far, it's been good with American Home Shield. I didn't have a problem with the plumbing claim when the tub wouldn't drain. However, when my washing machine was making a lot of noise, the technician from Magic Appliance didn't even look at it. He turned it on, heard the noise and said it was the transmission. He didn't include that on the invoice that he submitted to American Home Shield. I found out that American Home Shield was not gonna cover it because he said it was caused by abuse by me. So then, the rep told me I had to get a second opinion.
I got somebody to come out and then they said it was the transmission. When I submitted that, they said, "No, we have to come back in a week for the second opinion." They sent somebody, and then that person said, "No, it's not the transmission. It's the drain pump," and he fixed it in 15 minutes. I got a letter from American Home Shield saying that it wasn't gonna be covered under my policy anymore until I fix the abuse I had done to it. I clarified it for the record that they had sent somebody and they fixed it. So it was taken care of. Other than the technician from Magic Appliance, everybody else has been good.

American Home Shield has been great to work with for what I've used them. I've had to replace a garbage disposal, one hot water tank and my washing machine. Also, putting a service request with them is very easy and they get back to me very quickly. I had a big leak in my attic and we had spent quite a bit of money to have a leak expert come and they come back with nothing. Then when my husband went up in the attic, he noticed there was a lot of water in the pan. That's when we asked our home warranty to send someone for AC. The contractor went up there and figured out the problem. It's no longer leaking. So I'm super bummed that I had to pay for the sheetrock damage. Nevertheless, the contractor did a great job. But the company that American Home Shield was sending out never made it. We had two air-conditions that went out and people came out and told me I needed a new fan blower. It was Total Air Care. They were supposed to come but they didn’t come and they didn’t schedule. They were too busy. I had told American Home Shield that was gonna happen but they told me to give them a try.
I didn’t wanna be without my AC so long so I had to call for a second person. We have kids and it was too hot at the time. We had to have one AC going. CC’s Heating and AC and Refrigeration came out and the technician was great. He came out for two things – the garage doors and the air conditioner. I had told American Home Shield and requested him for both. He was direct to the point and he went right to the problem.
He said the fan was not broken and that the other guy was gonna charge us for a brand-new fan when the problem was just one little part. The guy from CC's fixed it and it was hardly anything. Boom! My AC was back on. The last few times, contractors had had to come back to re-do the AC. Now, the AC is still running. In fact, both my units are running! The other guy had been wrong! But I don’t hold American Home Shield completely responsible for the vendors that they send out. They try their best. American Home Shield makes it easy and they get right to it. I'm very satisfied with them. It was a great experience. It was quick and convenient.

We noticed it was warmer in parts of the house and found out that one of our heat pumps wasn't working. We put in a service request online and within a few minutes, I had confirmation that I'd be hearing from somebody and within an hour, I did. The contractor was out the next day. He had parts with him and fixed the heat pump on the spot. It has been working flawlessly since. The contractors AHS send are nice and professional. They announce when they are coming and show up within that window. I have recommended them several times.

When West End Mechanical came the first time, I was out of town, but they’ve put a composite on it. And the next time, there was something about add-ons. But they fixed the issue both times. It’s just that I had to wait two times in the heat for them to come. American Home Shield's reps have been really nice, but I had the refrigerator out for months and months. And they finally told me to go buy me a fridge and they’d pay up for a certain amount. I sent the ticket and never got anything. When I called the first time, they said that they see that, but they didn’t see when they had gotten it. So, they had me email it, and I did that, and it still didn’t work.

American Home Shield is always nice. I’ve had them for nine years and I wouldn’t have kept them from the sellers if they hadn’t been good. They’re always there. They explain things and they’re very professional and very timely. When my air-conditioner quit, I called American Home Shield, and they gave me a different company to come out. And I read the reviews and they were hideous. So I said, “I don’t want them. I want somebody else.” AHS cancelled that claim and gave me somebody else. AHS sent an email saying that the contractor would contact me within 24 hours, and if they didn’t, I have to call them back. The contractor, M&A HVAC Services, was wonderful. They’ll be the only people I’ll ever ask for again. They're the most professional, best people that AHS has ever sent me.

I wanted my heating and air unit checked in preparation for the summer season and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. The website has always been very simple for me to navigate. It says online that once I submit the claim, somebody would be contacting me within a 24-hour period. AHS met the expectation. I did it late the night before and the contractor contacted me the very next day to set up an appointment. The contractor was very professional, thorough and knew exactly what he was doing. Since then, everything has been fine.
I’ve been with AHS for over five years and the warranty has proven to be a lifesaver for me. My husband used to see about everything that had to do with the house but he’s in his 12th year of having Alzheimer’s. So, I don’t know anything about heating and air, and fixing the sink or repairing a toilet. He was a great fix-it guy and he would only call a professional if it was something that he was sure he didn’t know anything about. So, when he got sick, I had to think about what I would do if something breaks down in the house that we still live in. I didn’t know who to call and so I said that the best thing to do was to get a home warranty. It was a no-brainer for me. I covered all the systems in the house and all the appliances. That was the smartest thing I ever did.

I’ve always had a good experience with American Home Shield, and some bad experience with others, so I just decided to continue to use them. However, they run their customer contact out of the Philippines and English is a language they have but you don’t always get someone who speaks fluently. Transactions could be done online so you don’t need to talk to someone, but when you do, either they’re not in a position to resolve your problem or you can’t understand their English and you have to call back and try to get someone else who can speak proper English.
Recently, American Home Shield sent out two different technicians for our toilet that wasn’t flushing. When the vendor got assigned to me, I looked up their reviews, and they were really bad so I asked AHS to change the vendor. They told me that they were unable to exchange the vendor. We had to proceed with this vendor. The initial technician who came out said he had repaired the toilet, but two days later, the same problem came back. It’s still overflowing. The second technician who came out seemed to be a little rushed and trying to define the problem to be something that wasn’t covered by the warranty. He came in, plungered the toilet a bit and said it was working.
I told him that this seems to be the problem with the toilet. You plunger it and an hour or a day later, the same problem comes back. So the tech came in, snaked the toilet and said that he didn’t feel anything but he’s gonna say that there is a foreign object inside that’s causing it to clog up. If he’s worked with AHS a couple of times before, he knows that the warranty doesn’t cover foreign objects and he was looking to claim that it wasn’t under warranty so that he could charge additional money. Now, I still have a toilet that isn’t working and American Home Shield is sending out a new technician. They have better reviews and I’m hopeful they will be able to resolve my issue.

The spring on the garage door was broken. My car was stuck in the garage and I couldn’t lift the door. I had a repairman out to fix the garage door. While he was repairing the door, he told me that the garage door opener was not only in bad shape but it was also a fire hazard and unplugged it. He told me that Doors and More is affiliated with American Home Shield and he told me to go ahead and call them now.
When I called AHS, the woman that answered the phone had a very strong Indian accent and I had trouble understanding her part of the time. She started out insisting that American Home Shield didn’t have a work order to repair the garage door and I told her repeatedly that I wasn’t calling about the garage door. I was calling about the garage door opener. It took a while. But most of my dealings with AHS had been pretty good. A different representative might have had a different outcome that one time. And the guy they sent out from Doors and More was awesome and very professional.
I am not particularly computer savvy and everything is increasingly set up to be computer-friendly. But I do not have a computer. I can’t go online and set up an appointment with AHS. To set up one, I have to be in phone hell for a while where I have to go through this menu over and over again. And the first thing they wanted to do was make sure they have a credit card number so they could bill me. Then when I finally got an actual person to speak to, they'd again ask for a credit card number so they can bill me for the service fee even though the automated section already took that information. It just seems like overkill.

I wanted regular cleaning and check-up on our AC. I filed the claim online and the process was pretty straightforward and quick. They called me the next day and scheduled the appointment. The contractors were terrific and I would use them again in a heartbeat. They answered questions. They tested stuff to make sure it was gonna hold up and we weren't gonna have to have replacements during the season, so that was really better. We had to have extra coolant added to the system and they were very clear about what it was gonna cost and what our share of it was. We didn't know that prior to them coming and it would've been more useful if we did. I got an email from American Home Shield, but I got it just before they arrived.
The biggest trick I have is that I really feel like there needs to be a space or a place that you can have some texts to say, "Go around the back door," or give some specific instructions kind of a thing. Or when you pick AC, it should come up with a prompt that says what the policy only covers if you need coolant. But everything's fine. I have recommended people to American Home Shield.

The unit that has the main controls on it for filter, backwash, recirculate, etc. was cracked and I didn't know it. Somehow it had gotten stuck on backwash. So, every time they turned the pool on, it was emptying out the water. American Home Shield sent out the contractor, Aviation, and they stopped the leak. The gentleman was super-terrific. He diagnosed it and found the problem right away. He ordered the part and it was over Memorial Day weekend so that took a little bit longer. He got the part and put it in, and so far, it is working perfectly.
However, I am having difficulty submitting claims online. For some reason, I can’t get the expired contract off that website and get the new one on there. I don't even know how to change it. It doesn't really give me an option to update, and I don't know the contract number. But I can submit a claim on the phone quite easily. My husband and I have gone through a total of 4 home service contracts like this, and American Home Shield has, by far, been the best, hands down. I tell everybody, “I don't care what you’ve got, go to American Home Shield because they're the best.” They don't squabble with you, they come out, they either fix or replace, and they're prompt. And so far, everybody that they’ve sent out has been professional, courteous, and I’m just tickled pink with them.

We had to file a claim on a refrigerator. It was determined that it needed to be replaced. Approval was provided for purchase and reimburse for a new appliance. We completed the claim forms and provided required supplemental documents. We were initially told a check would come within 10-14 business days of the completed claim documents. Upon submittal of the forms, an automated email said it would be up to 21 business days. Once the 21 business days had passed, we called to inquire and were told that the claim had been processed a week after the submission and a check should arrive, "probably within the week." The checks were to be coming from Memphis TN and we live in GA, for time reference.
Another week passed, no check. We called the center again and representative tells us that they don't know what the problem is but will escalate it and the escalation dept will contact us. No calls, emails, or mail. Another few business days pass and we call again, reference prior calls, are put on hold and left to the point our phone times out...more than once. We get back through again and insist on a supervisor. Initially told none available, we say we will wait. Finally, a supervisor named "Anthony" tells us that the check was mailed and they will need to research it. We ask that process, since we have been waiting weeks past the maximum time. He can't/won't provide anything, but says he will return a call within 24 hrs. He does not call. We attempt to call again, same issues with being put on hold, no supervisor available. They keep saying they will have someone call and we tell them, we have tried this multiple times with no contact.
We can't find any number in Memphis (call center folks are in the Philippines). After going through the full timeline and explaining that being told a supervisor will call us back is not acceptable. We are assured by "Mae" that someone will call within the hour. My husband is assured by another representative that someone will call us the next day. "Anthony" calls and tells us that he had an emergency and couldn't get back to us but he had "been looking into it." We asked why the previous check could not be confirm as not cashed and another sent to us. The check is over $1100.00. He could not offer anything other than they would continue to research it. All required processes, on our part have been followed. Approval for purchase and reimbursement was followed. We have been working for three weeks to resolve and they had plenty of time to confirm it was not cashed, cancel, and process another check.
We are approaching twice the time promised with no reimbursement or explanation. No other phone numbers, emails, or chats are available to contact the company with a complaint. The chat feature on the website is a "dead" link. We have found no method of contacting the company. We will be contacting BBB and the Department of Commerce (TN). We have paid our premiums for years and never had issues before. We have never been "Stuck" in the call center maze. This experience is enough that we will end our contract and will never recommend AHS to anyone, but will warn others of the experience. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I have had an AHS program for over a year. In 10 months I have had 3 service calls for my air conditioner. They have sent 3 different companies to my home. None of the 3 have any information from the previous company's visit. Each time I was told that my unit has a leak and they 'charged the unit'---and I had to pay additional fee for refrigerant (that is not covered in the warranty).
In the last 2 visits they have replaced 80% of the refrigerant (5.5 lbs of a 6 lb 14 oz capacity). The last tech (May 29) told me AHS would not fix my unit and he would probably be back in July to 'charge' the unit. Since I have to pay a $75 service charge each time--plus refrigerant----there is no benefit to this warranty. All calls go to a call center and there is no way to complain on the AHS site. That is how I got here--the AHS site kicked me to 'reviews' on Consumer Affairs. I am going to file a complaint with our Attorney General (that covers all the agencies in my state).

I recently bought a house. It had no running water. After closing, my agent was told by Fannie Mae that water was on but that it was shut off at the main water valve in the crawl space. I went to the house and turned the main water valve - it kept turning and turning yet still no water. I figured the valve must be broke and stuck in off position. Since AHS is supposed to cover plumbing issues, I contacted them and they sent over Stillwell Plumbing. Their plumber reached the same conclusion. In fact, when he turned the valve handle, it broke off. He then called AHS to make sure that the valve was covered. He was on the phone with them for about 20 minutes. AHS then called my cell phone to inform me the valve was not covered because they said it was broke because of abuse. How is turning a water valve on 'abuse'????
The girl I talked with could not explain how turning a water valve is abuse. Toward the end of this double talking conversation, she claimed the plumber said, "I broke the valve." Yet when I asked her for his exact words, she said, "The valve is broke and needs to be fixed." I have to deal with AHS for several more issues. I will update this review after these issues. At this point, I think this company is a scam. The real estate agent who gave me the warranty said AHS replaced one of her appliances in the house she just bought. We've been covered by American Home Shield for many years. The good news is that repairs get taken care of. The bad news, is that it may take a while. Currently, it's been eight days since our refrigerator/freezer has stopped cooling. The first contractor they sent didn't know how to fix it, so they just assigned it to another contractor, who can't come until next week. If it needs a part, that probably means another week. I'm sure they will eventually get it fixed, but 2-3 weeks without a refrigerator/freezer is a very long time for a family with kids!
After waiting long periods of time on hold, I tried to explain this to their representative, but I was told it's up to the customer to work out timings with the vendors. I tried to explain that my contract is with AHS, so I asked if they could try to get the vendor to expedite the repair. They refused, even though my contract is with AHS, my payments go to AHS, and AHS at first sent an unqualified vendor.

Stay as far away as you can. My A/C unit failed a week and a half ago. The technician they selected came out and said there were 2 problems and promptly left after pulling a number out of thin air. I say this because he had little to no explanation and didn't leave a written report to even reference. The unit is old and using Freon R-22 so I asked what it would take to replace the whole unit. Only his manager could give me an estimate and he couldn't come by until the next day. The next day the manager shows up, walks around my house for at most 2 minutes and at least has the courtesy to write down a number for a new unit. I bring up that there was no report from the original visit and he said he must have emailed it and I should check again. Checked again and never received anything. After asking again he sends me the report later that day and things are looking up.
In the midst of waiting for AHS to call me back and let me know what is covered and what isn't I had called for a second opinion. The second opinion of my choosing explains everything that they are checking and what exactly they are looking at each step of the way. They wrote a report with costs and gave me their recommendations! It has been a week and AHS still does not have the report from the first technician and thus cannot even tell me what they would cover from their selected contractor. The cost to repair you might wonder? AHS cannot say what they cover because they don't have the report. The cost to replace everything you may ask? AHS cannot say because they don't have the report. It is easily their favorite line.
My wife, 2-month-old baby and 2 dogs are trying to sleep but 85 degrees with all the fans going and all the windows open at 10 PM is not exactly comfortable. Needless to say I am in a rush to replace this A/C unit and have to pay the full cost simply because I cannot wait for AHS to "reach out during normal business hours to get the report". And for all those wondering, I have had the report for a week. I asked if they want me to personally send it as well as the second report from contractor number 2. They need to get it directly from the contractor before they will even look at it. If that doesn't show a complete lack of urgency and lack of empathy by both their selected contractor and their own employees, I don’t know what does.
I apologize for the delay Karl. I can understand your frustration with trying to work with us to resolve the a/c issue. In an effort to assist with a resolution, I just sent you an email. I look forward to assisting you.

My AC unit quit working April 30, 2019. I called AHS and made a claim over the phone. The company that received my request to look at my unit (Airetron). They did not call me to set up a time. I had to call them. He said he would be at my house around 4pm (May 1st) but never showed up. When I called him the next day, May 2, he did come out and look at my unit and stated the capacitor needed to be replaced. He replaced the capacitor then asked if he could service the unit because it only had 4 pounds of freon in it. We agreed to him servicing the unit. He added 6 pounds of freon to the unit. (Now, we did not realize at this point that unit holds only 7.5# of freon. We also did not know that we needed to make a separate claim to service the unit.
We also did not know that we were NOT to exchange money without the service being reported to AHS. These are all things the technician knows!!!). In addition to this, my husband and the technician's wife were just talking in general and she made the comment, "the more the customers **, I will ring the ** bill up!" (so very professional, right AHS???) Okay, so we paid the technician from Airetron $528.11 to service the unit and to add 6# of freon. The unit worked for ONE HOUR then QUIT! It does not even make the buzzing noise it once did. Absolutely Nothing! So we have paid the $125 call out fee plus $528.11 to still have NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!!. (We live in Southwest Louisiana with temps in the 90s... We have 2 small kids plus my elderly mother, just fyi!).
We called Airetron that evening to let Charles (the owner) know that the unit will not start! He said "no problem, we are eating dinner but will be back to your house shortly." Then Charles text my husband this "text me your address again please. I know you but can't place the unit." This was around 6pm. We did not hear back from Airetron (Charles) until 8:13 when he text my husband saying he got called to a job in Hackberry, La and would come back to our house when he was done (Hackberry is well over an hour away from our house). He text my husband again at 9:05 saying he was in Vinton, LA but would come by when he was done. He text again around 11pm saying was going to be another hour and asked if it was too late to come by.
We said, "Wait until tomorrow." He said he was getting a room in Lake Charles and we would be his first on the list. I had to call him the next day (May 3rd) around noon because we had not heard from him. He said he just woke up and gave me an estimated time of 2:57pm. He finally made it back out to our house (May 3rd) and said the unit needed to be replaced because the compressor was shot. He said he was going to get the insurance to replace the whole unit. He asked me to call AHS to get a new work order #. I did and then I asked him about refunding me my $528.11 because it obviously did not fix the unit. He said he would not refund my money because he cannot do anything with the freon he put in the unit.
He also told me over the phone that the more I complain, the longer it is going to take to fix my air! (Side note: the unit only holds 7.5# of freon. He said the unit had 4# in it and added 6# more for a total of 10# of freon for a unit that holds 7.5#... I wish I would have known that at the time. In addition to this, my husband said he did not even weigh the freon to know exactly how much he put in, or if he even put any freon in it...So something to think about AHS). I did get a call from AHS saying the compressor was not grounded and they had to replace the heat pump and add 7# of freon for an additional cost of $609.00... I informed AHS that he just added 6# to the unit when he changed the capacitor and I already paid him $528.11.
AHS had no record of him servicing the unit, imagine that, BUT I HAVE THE INVOICE! So I have called and told my story numerous times to each agent that I speak to. I was NEVER allowed to speak with a supervisor for 2 weeks, until MAY 14TH TO BE EXACT! I was placed on hold numerous times then hung up on numerous times. I finally spoke with a customer service supervisor on May 14th, and he sent an email to contractor relations. I was told by this supervisor that I would receive an email AND a call regarding this situation.
I also made it very clear that I will not conduct business with Airetron, and I want a second opinion from a different company. I also made a claim to get my $528.11 refunded. I have yet to receive an email or a phone call. I call weekly, most times at least 2 times per week and I get the same response from EVERY agent and every Escalations manager, which is, "I will send the email again. Contractor relations typical response time is within 24-48hrs!"
Today's date is May 29. I just got off the phone with AHS AGAIN, and Paula (agent) sent the email to contractor relations again. She also stated that it takes 14-21 business days to get a response (THIS IS NEW!). She assured me she would give me a call back to update me on the status (I was promised this by Michael, and escalations dept manager, just last week, and never heard back from him!) I still have no AC, am out over $650.00, and have not heard from AHS! I know AHS has my phone number because I confirm it EVERY TIME I CALL! I have been a faithful and satisfied customer of AHS for years. I am appalled about how this has been handled (or really, lack thereof).

So we have had this warranty company going on the second year with them. First time using them took 2 weeks to get our washer repaired. No big deal though. This was normal. So our air decided to go out on May 1st. Keep in mind we live in Florida. So I requested service from AHS. Quick response and technician was out within 48 hours. Diagnosed that we needed a new evaporator coil. I was told 3 days later it was ordered and should take 5-10 days to get here. Well May 21St came. No response from technician. Did not return voicemails left. Also called tech several times and his voicemail was full. So I called AHS. Let me tell you. I was on the phone for over an hour for them to tell me that they contacted the company and left a message to call me.
Well I tried to call the tech right after AHS rep did and their voicemail was full. So they lied just to get me off the phone. May 22nd let the day go by. Called tech several times. No answer and voicemail full. Sent texts as well. Called AHS rep again and was on the phone for an hour and half this time only to be told I have to pay the 280 fee for Freon before they will come to fix the Air. So I advised rep I will pay now if they are ready tech then said no. I have to pay the AC company. Well I asked, "How can I do that if they won’t call me." They advised me they had sent an email to the company to contact since when they tried no one answered and voicemail was full. So fast forward to May 24th still no response from A/C company.
So I call AHS for the third straight day. On the phone for almost 2 hours after I requested to speak to a supervisor as I no longer trusted the Reps as they had lied to me several times. After being on hold for better part of an hour and a half they came on and said a supervisor was extremely busy handling other calls and would call me back that night. No call from them so May 25th I call around 10 am and after going through everything again and 45 minute Rep stated they will call A/C company to contact me. So same story. They come back 20 minutes later and say they have contacted them and the company will call me.
I request to speak to a supervisor again. And on hold for over an hour. Finally they transfer me to the executive resolution team. Which I’m hold for another 30 minutes. Finally someone answers. Get told they have ordered the part and waiting for it to come in. Rep stated she will follow up with me to make A/C company reaches out. So of course Memorial Day was on Monday and as a veteran myself I was honoring my fallen brothers and sisters. Then on Tuesday A/c company sends a text and said part is still order waiting for it to come in. So I called AHS again as the rep from the executive resolution team never called back to check. So on the phone and ask to speak to a supervisor again and the rep stated, "What can I help you with?"
I advised rep I have called for 3 days straight and there is nothing in notes or my file about anything and Rep stated no they have nothing in their system of me calling. So now I’m beyond upset. Ask to speak to a supervisor once again. On hold for almost an hour. Finally supervisor answers and calls A/c company to find out about order 15 minutes later. Rep comes back and states that the part ordered is on back order and do not know when it will come in. Keep in mind we now have not had air for 3 weeks. By this time my wife has posted on Facebook and some reached out to me to step in and they didn’t call. They sent an email. They said there is nothing they can do because the part is under warranty and since this is the case they cannot do anything.
I asked how they can just let someone sit here after paying the monthly fee for a service to be told, "Sorry there is nothing we can do." So I asked, "Is there any time frame?" and they said no as long as it takes for the company to send the part. I then asked what else they can do and they stated they can give me 380.00 for the labor to put in the part. Since it was under warranty they do not have to pay for the part. This is a horrible injustice to me and my family and discrimination towards veterans because they do not to spend the money to fix the issue.

I had my air conditioner repaired last summer and it is broken again. I call for a tuneup thinking it would be fixed today. The technician said that the Freon was low and he had to submit a report and someone would call me. He couldn’t repair the air conditioner today. I placed a follow up call to ensure that the report was filed and that a repair person would be scheduled soon. The customer service representative said that the report had not been submitted. I waited several hours and called back for a status update. I was told again that the report was not submitted and that it would have to be submitted for authorization.
I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told that she would tell me the same thing. I insisted on speaking with the supervisor on duty. I was placed on hold and eventually told that the supervisor would call me back. I haven’t received a call back yet. I have already paid for the services and the air conditioner should definitely be under warranty since it hasn’t been a year since the original repair. My indoor thermostat reading is 85 degrees on the main level. It’s too hot to be without air especially since I have paid for services. It’s even more disappointing to receive poor customer service. I’m still waiting for a return call.

We have regular maintenance done on our air conditioner. Our AC is all electric so it does both the AC and the heat. The guy that came in and did the regular maintenance said there were some issues with it and the unit needed to be replaced. My wife did a claim online for it with American Home Shield. The guy they sent to check it seemed very professional and very courteous. He said that the AC didn't need to be replaced. He checked temperatures but he didn't do any kind of repairs or service to the unit. He said it didn't need anything. He took time to explain some stuff to us because we showed him the report that the maintenance guys had left. He tried to explain what some of the things on the report meant and why he didn't think that that unit needed to be replaced. He gave a good explanation.
We’ve had some things just like this one where somebody says something needs replacing and the American Home Shield guy says it doesn't. In this case, I don't really know who to believe because I know the maintenance guys were probably paid to try and sell me something. And I know the guys AHS sends out are being paid to not have us do anything. I’m not really sure if I need to get a third opinion or what I need to do. But I don't want the AC going out on us in the middle of a hot summer or in the middle of a cold winter and then having to deal with it. Other than that, we like American Home Shield in general and we’d probably recommend it to a friend.

I’m coming to a year with them and I have to talk to my husband first to see if he wants to renew but if he does, then we will.

The claims process online has been really great. American Home Shield sends someone out right away after a claim is placed. When the fan in my AC was hitting against the side of the metal so sometimes it would really make a loud noise, Greenway Home Services took about three days to come out. It was fine ‘cause it wasn’t urgent. They called me to let me know what was happening and to schedule our time. The technician came early and was very polite and nice. He fixed the problem.

The experience with American Home Shield was efficient and easy. We had some pool equipment that wasn’t working and I went through the website to submit the claim. It wasn’t too clear on what I needed to click on for the pool request and there wasn’t anything specific to spa or pool pumps but it worked. They said I could expect the contractor within a day or two, and they did show up on time. The technician was out there for about two hours, working on the pool equipment, and he was able to get everything remediated and working. Everything seems to be working fine and as they should now.

I thought the washer was leaking, and it turned out to be a drain back-up. So, American Home Shield sent out City Plumbing. And the tech discovered, apparently, that it was plumbed sort of weirdly. He said that the drain should not be connected to the laundry tray, but for whatever reason, they were and they were backing each other up. And it didn’t go on to the floor again, but it went up into the laundry sink. Then he cleared another drain, and he was persistent. It wasn’t responding like he thought it should, and he stayed with it. He did a great job. He was really professional but friendly and conversant and was paying very much attention to what he was doing. And when he left, I was left without a problem at all, so it’s great.

I call American Home Shield to submit claims and it has been great with their reps the last couple of times. They quickly get to the problem and work with me to get the vendors that I've had in the past, which is a big plus. In the very beginning, I had a lot of problems with technicians. I almost canceled my account. But now that I can use the same technicians, I don't have that problem. Most recently, I had a problem with my attic fans and Electrical Service Professionals came out and fixed them. Other than that, my only complaint is the big jump on the deductible, which is $75.

One night, my husband and I were sitting here just watching TV and we thought that it was really warm. So, I went and checked the temperature to see what it was on. It was set on 74, and it was registering 77 or 78. We filed a claim with American Home Shield for our AC. When the contractor called, he gave us an estimate on when he was gonna be out. In fact, he was gonna come one day, and it was raining. So, he changed it to a day or two after that. He was great. He was absolutely hysterical. He had a great sense of humor and a great presence about him. He wasn’t afraid. We have four huge dogs. They’re each one over 90 pounds, and we keep them penned off with baby gates when anybody comes here. And a lot of people are afraid to even walk anywhere near them, but not him. He was reaching over the gate, petting them, and talking to them. He has a great personality.
Our AC has been great since then. We were very fortunate that it wasn’t something major. We were hoping the most it might be would be the Freon. We were really afraid that it might need a whole new unit. But it didn’t. It’s been an excellent experience. We’ve always recommended American Home Shield. We get really prompt and fast service out of them. With the exception of one, everybody they’ve ever sent out here was very thorough and got the issue taken care of right away.

My experience with American Home Shield has not been good. It is almost to the point that I see no need in having the insurance. Their reps were very nice. But they had one of the headset phones and it was difficult for me to understand what they were saying, so that was not pleasant because the rep kept repeating. Her microphone was too close to her mouth. My husband also tried talking to her and he had the same problem. But she was very nice. She told me who would be calling for the service.
Axis was the repair company and they said that it was the control panel. They ordered one and put it in. He put it on sensor cook, and it heated a cup of water. I assumed that it was finished and repaired. When I tried to cook on it later on, it still would not work with direct microwave. I called American Home Shield and then they called Axis. When I called Axis, they said that if the electric panel did not work, then it couldn't be fixed. So I told them that they need to call the insurance people and tell them that. I didn’t hear and I didn’t hear and I didn’t hear, so I placed another call to American Home Shield. The rep said that she would call Axis and I told her to keep me on the line, which she did. But Axis did not answer. The rep told me that she would have to calle me back.
I waited and then I called Axis again. They told me that they have ordered a panel. I told them that they just put in the panel, but they said it was another panel. When it came in, they scheduled a time and it was another half day out of my life. The tech put it in, and the same thing happened. He said he didn't know what was wrong with it and then he started to leave. I asked him to leave a paper copy that he was here and that it did not work. And with that, he just left. The only proof that I had that he was here was the date on my calendar.
I called American Home Shield again, and they tried to get Axis on the line again. They got an answering machine, and they told they would call me back. Then Axis called my husband yesterday, and they said that they were going to send a supervisor out, and they would be here today between 12:00 and 5:00, another half-day out of my day. So, that’s where we are at this point.
This has been going on since April. If I press one minute or two minutes or five minutes, direct power, it does not cook or heat. Adding a minute does not work. The only thing that works is the sensor part of the microwave where you press a button and, across the screen, it asks you what you want to cook. It is ridiculous. American Home Shield should replace it. I have had this policy for several years, and this is, by far, the worst experience that we have ever had.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Wanda. In an effort to aid with unresolved issues, I just sent you an email. I look forward to assisting you.

It took weeks before we ever got the issue straightened out and AHS finally got somebody from other company to come and fix our issue. We don't want Cote Mechanical back in our house and I can't believe American Home Shield has them as repair people.
Most recently, we had issues on two different air conditioners. The man this time tried to put on there that we will not accept Cote Mechanical. Affordable Heat and Air came out and they know our equipment well. They're fine and they do a good job of taking care of it and letting me know what's going on. They worked on our AC units and they just got the part in for the second air conditioner and they're fixing it.

The water dispenser in the fridge is corroded and has mildew and nothing comes out. Also, the ice maker doesn't make ice because it freezes the pipe in the back of the tube. Then, our vegetable and food drawers keep freezing everything, no matter what temperature I try to set. I would lower the temperature on the refrigerator, in order to not to make it frozen, but we would get frozen cucumber, tomato, and everything. It's so annoying. Also, the clothes dryer does not dry. We filed a claim to American Home Shield and it's been going on about a month. I've had so many people come and nothing is working. The contractors keep coming and saying nothing is wrong. Maybe this time, I'll put wet clothes in the dryer and let them see if it dries. This is ridiculous. Something is just not right. We've had to call in about at least four times in order to get it done.
I was trying to call Cooper Appliances, the contractor, to find out everything. I have the number and after two rings, it will stop. I tried 10 times. I thought maybe it was the wrong number. Then, I Googled them and they have the same number. But then, the gentleman I spoke to a while ago gave me another number. He said their high tech technician will be coming in a couple of days and they will call us.
There was another company and the tech never bothered. He called two times and when we got his call, he would say he will be calling AHS. Finally, AHS sent Cooper Appliances. I think they are a good company. In the past, they have worked and fixed a few things and I thought they were good. But now, I don't know what's going on. If it cannot be fixed, they need to replace. That's in the agreement. I've been with American Home Shield for almost five years now and I've never had any problems. But right now, I'm very disappointed. I'm satisfied with them overall, though.

I don't like how AHS process things. The amount we pay every year goes up. The previous time they came out, we gave a check and now, we have to pay the service before the serviceman comes out. I don't have a problem with that but the issue is that they take our money. They're working for us but they have contractors that come out and do the work.
This last time that we had a problem was with our air conditioner was not giving cold air. My husband filed a claim to American Home Shield online and they called us and told us that someone would be out there. It took a few days for Comfort First Heating and Cooling to come. It's summer time and everybody’s air is going out. We're aware of that. We are customers that do not call for every little thing. We've been with them going on five years and I think they can count on both hands how many times we called. So, they’ve made money off of us for five years and we have not got five years worth of service or the money that we paid them.
The guy came out and he was excellent. He told us he needed to order a part and that it will be in in a couple of days. The part came in and a young lady from the contracting company called me and told us their availability. They gave us a day and told us the guy would be out here between 12 o'clock and 4 o'clock and we told them that’s fine. It was Friday on Memorial Weekend and they called back and asked if they could come at a later time. We said it was fine. We had enough time to go out and do our shopping. We were in BJ’s doing our grocery shopping when we got a call saying that the guy would be at our house in 15 minutes.
If you set a time to come, that’s the time that you have to come. We were nice enough that when they called, we said that they can come at a later time. Then, they told us that the person is gonna be there in half an hour and if we're not there, we would have to wait for the next available time that they have. My husband and I had to leave in the middle of our shopping and leave all the groceries in the cart. That was not nice. I called for someone to call me back, but no one ever called me back. So, American Shield is getting a bad name with me because of the people that they contracted with. Other than that, everything is operating fine now.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

When I had a piping problem in my basement and there was water leak, I couldn't submit the claim online because the system said that I had a money due. So I had to call and submit it through the phone. I reached someone in the Philippines because it was at night but the hold wasn't too long. I explained to her that it couldn't be that case. I really appreciated the customer service. She was a highlight. She was very nice and went out of her way to try to help me and put me in a couple of brief holds. I had to be on hold for half an hour in the past, but this was not bad.
The contractor, Pete, is a good guy. I like him. In fact, I had requested him because he has come to my home and worked before. Last year, end of the year, I had a water leak and he sent his son. His son came in one evening and couldn't diagnose it. He took some pictures and talked to his dad. They decided it was my refrigerator and he went away. The refrigerator person came and every time, I had been charged $100 fee which we shouldn't have been.
The refrigerator person said, "I haven't seen something like this in my 47 years." So he went away and I had a lot of water damage. Eventually, it went back to plumbing. This time, Pete came back and he fixed it in five minutes. He knew exactly what it was. So this time, when I called in, I was given a couple of choices. I asked that they give it to PHD and send Pete and not his son. Pete came in and he knew exactly what to do. He fixed it in a few minutes.
I like American Home Shield that's why I stayed with them. I've been fortunate each time I've had an issue that I have had a backup plan. When my boiler went out in February of last year and I had no heat and hot water, fortunately, that was the week where the temperature went up to 60 degrees. So I was fortunate this time that when the water started to leak, I was able to put a bucket in there. Because if I call a contractor, they could have come and fixed it right away. With American Home Shield, I have to wait. But it's been overall not bad. I'm happy.

We had an issue where our air conditioner was not blowing cool air into the house. I had to call American Home Shield for that claim because there's a problem with my account. My new contract doesn’t link to my old email account. The reps were fine. But there was an issue where I had to call and needed to speak to numerous people because they couldn’t seem to understand what I was asking. This happened for a different claim - an electrical one.
Usually, AHS' contractors were pretty good. We dealt with a few. There was one that had a hard time coming out so AHS had to reassign our case to a different servicing provider. For my AC claim, AHS sent out SJR Heating & Cooling. Their guy came on a Thursday. He found out that something was wrong with the wiring and he fixed it. He also said that our coolant was low so I paid the additional $50 to help him fill that up. Our AC has been working since then. I called AHS for a claim and their reps were cool. The contractors came a little later. They had to contact somebody first to get them out, for the availability. The contractor came out twice. But the first time he checked the fan, he thought it was the capacitor, but that wasn’t the reason why it wasn’t turning. It was the motor because I pushed it with a stick and got it to turn. He came back the second time and changed the motor. It has been great since then.
But I do have reservations with my pool pump, because that pump doesn’t feel like it’s efficient. It doesn’t work like my other pump that was put on there. And the people came back out, and checked it, and replaced the filter and it runs fine. But after a week, it slows back down. It starts doing the same thing. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied with AHS. I’ve already got a home buyer on there. I bought them the warranty, and they’re happy with it.

I have had two claims with AHS recently. One was for a plumbing issue and one was for a microwave issue. We had a toilet that was continuously running, and they had to replace some piece inside the tank to stop that. And one has the little chains turning that was too long. So, they adjusted that and did some tweaking to prevent additional excess running. And it was great. But it was lengthy time to get to some rep.
I did the plumbing claim online via their website which was nice and easy because I could select two bathrooms that needed service and make the one payment on that. For the microwave issue, I had to call, and the hold time was excessive. But once I had spoken to a rep, she was very helpful. The contractor was also excellent. He was very professional and polite. He arrived on time. I liked the ability to track when he was coming to the house and the text messaging that I received. Once he got here, he was nice, polite and professional. He got the job done.
The toilet has sounded more smooth and quieter. It's definitely nice to have no water running as well as cost efficient because now I don't have to worry about my water bill too much. AHS have to improve the phone response time at American Home Shield. That would be the number one. But for the most part, everything else was really smooth and worked very well.

We had a claim recently for our dishwasher and it was the second time that the contractor has been out. He was very professional, very nice and informative. He couldn't find what the dishwasher was doing and it hadn't done it since. It was leaking but he recommended some things for us to do and it stopped. So, he did a good job. So far, American Home Shield has done everything that they said they would and I haven't had any problems. It was a very good experience.

The motor in the pool went out. So, I called it in to Home Shield. Their claims representative was good. She gave me the date with the pool company and they called me the same day. The contractor knew what he was doing. And he got the part, came back in a few days and put it together, and it's working fine now. I like Home Shield except the business deal of it has changed since the last time I used it. I used to have to pay $75 for the service. Now, I gotta pay a $125, which I really don't care for.

There was some mix-up with the appointment time but American Home Shield interceded and got the Mechanical Contractor out there. Once the guy came, everything was fine and professional. He had to replace the part in the furnace which was the relay switch. He resolved it in less than 40 minutes. The only thing that I did not like about AHS is that when I made the appointment, I gave them my Discover card, but they took it out of my debit card and I don’t know how they did that without my consent.

The website's easy to access when you have a problem and the response is quick. Whenever I make a claim, American Home Shield calls me and schedules an appointment right away. One time, my dryer wasn't heating up and the knob wasn't turning. It wasn't shutting off while it was spinning too, so I requested for it to get fixed, and the company that came out determined that it was something on the breaker box. The tech went out there, moved the knob, and the dryer started heating up again. That same day I noticed that the stove top was turning off and the dryer would stop heating. The breaker was connected with the dryer and the stove top together, so that was causing it to jump.
I put in the request for electrical to come out and when I told the tech what it was doing, he replaced the M breaker. Since then, dryer's been working fine and the stove top, nothing has jumped. Also, someone came back to replace the sensor on the door of the dryer so that when you open it, it will shut off. All in all, those two guys that came out (different companies) got straight to the point, and they took care of what was needed. They got it done.

I've had American Home Shield for 10 years. The price has gone up about $10 a month over the course of those years, but with the exception of last summer when I had a plumbing issue that they denied, which I felt they should have paid for, I’ve never had any problems at all with them. I had no hot water so I called them, and they sent Robbie out the next day. He came out the day after ‘cause I wasn’t able to coordinate my schedule with him, but he fixed it while he was here and all was well within 30 minutes. He has been out here before and he’s familiar with my home, so I always feel confident with him. I had been taking cold showers for two days, so it was nice to have my hot water back.

Fact: it’s 99 F w/ 100% humidity here in Ga. Inside it’s unbearable w/ sick occupants (not that that should be a consideration). They were called Tue of this week when A/C quit working. They wanted to send back the contractor that had came out a few weeks ago to add Freon but this guy was busy and said it would be two days. Keep in mind the temps. They are to be like this for rest of week. They then gave the number to a contractor that doesn’t work for them. So this made us go through a whole night and today without cool air.
They refuse to authorize another contractor even though they said they would if they couldn’t get the first guy to come today. However a F/U call to them revealed they had changed their mind and told us to wait until tomorrow or go to a family member house or go to hotel but they won’t cover cost. This is unacceptable service and a lawsuit just might be filed due to breach of contract and negligence of having someone stay in such a uninhabitable dwelling and reneging on their offer and contractual obligations. One customer rep named Nell was so rude that when she was asked to put her supervisor on phone she hung up.

I have been a member with AHS for over 15 years! I had absolutely no problems with them until about 3 years ago. I thought the issue I had 3 years ago was a mistake and after the sale of my home, I signed up again when I purchased my most recent home. I had a small leak from my AC unit. They sent a company out 4 times to “fix” the small leak.
After the 4th visit, the contractor they sent out flooded my basement. They sent out another contractor from a different company and still after the 2Nd visit with this new company it has not been fixed. They take weeks to approve the contractor to come out and send out contractors who are jokes! I’ve called every 3 days because I am promised a return call with 24-48 hours but NO ONE calls me to communicate the status. Now I’m being told I need to pay over $800 to fill the unit but it was full prior to the visits from the first contractor! We haven’t had AC for over a month and a half, my basement flooded due to the contractor's incompetence and now they refuse to work with the new contractor to fix the problem that has now gone from a small leak to a FLOOD!
Jessica,
I apologize for the many times that we have inconvenienced you. In an effort to resolve your concerns, I just sent you an email. I look forward to assisting you.

American Home Shield (AHS) is by far the worst customer service business it has ever been my sorrow to deal with. My Miele refrigerator has been dripping for a year. AHS sent a contractor to fix it and thus began my trip down the rabbit hole. They broke parts, ordered unnecessary parts, installed the parts incorrectly, broke additional parts while trying to install parts. At one time AHS offered to replace the fridge. The problem was that the contract maximum is $3000 and the fridge cost $8000. We started with repairs again, requesting a different contractor, who took it apart and put it back together, but left out some screws.
Needless to say the drip continued. When AHS sent the contractor back, they claimed that because there were pieces "missing" it was no longer covered. I contacted AHS to find a status (they did not contact me) and the agent sent a notice to contractor relations, telling me that I would hear from them in 24-48 business hours.
8 days later I called again and the agent saw the note, reported that there was no response from contractor relations, and stated that she had just sent them a reminder. I called again 6 days later and was told that there was no record of either of the two agents contacting contractor relations, that I "hung up" on the first agent, etc. I asked to speak to a supervisor but they are ALL ALWAYS in a meeting, of unknown duration. I asked to have a manager call me (have tried in the past never with success). It is now 8 days later and I was just told that there is no contractor relation claim. The agent will send them a message. The absolute worst business!!! But my experience with my split heat pump is even more infuriating.
I had a split heat pump installed that continued to give me problems, with annual calls to AHS. It finally got to the point where they authorized replacement which cost me $1700 out of pocket. Eastern Air Control did the replacement in November 2017. All was fine until June 2018. As soon as the AC was turned on the unit started dripping down my wall from the corner away from the drain tube. Obviously we had no need for the AC until then so did not know there was a problem earlier, but it was beyond the service warranty period so it was a new service call.
Over the next 4 or 5 months Eastern Air Control or DMC Mechanical (same people different company name) tried several times to convince me that they fixed it, but it kept dripping, so they stopped taking or returning my calls. It took months to find another contractor willing to fix someone else's screw up, but somebody finally came out and showed me that the unit was pitched away from the direction of the drain line. They rehung the unit and assured me it was corrected. In late May we turned on the AC and it started dripping down the freshly repaired and painted wall. I called AHS and they assigned DMC Mechanical, even though I had them put a note in my record a year ago that I never wanted them in my home again. They set up the appointment with my wife on her cell phone, and the day of cancelled it by calling my cell phone (I was traveling) while my wife waited during an 8 hour window!!!!
I just spent another hour on the phone with AHS reliving the above history. There is no record of communication with contractor relations, although today's agent will put in emails about both issues. There is no record of my not wanting DMC ever again. And, of course, there is no supervisor available to talk with me since they are all in a meeting. Frank ** is a very nice guy and honorable, but has had some issues so I don't know if he is still involved with the business. His wife Denise is very pleasant to speak with and usually did a good job of getting my messages through. Frank's brother John and son Nicholas are not to be relied on or trusted to do anything. That is Eastern Air Control and DMC Di Dolce Mechanical Contractors - To be avoided at all costs.
American Home Shield is absolutely terrible. Their agents don't document calls, don't follow up with what they say they will do, don't ever call back. There are no customer service supervisors EVER available. If, and when these two problems are resolved AHS will be losing a long standing client (about two decades). Beware!!! and be Forewarned!!!

We have a leak somewhere in our duct work. Last summer, it was difficult to get our upstairs bedrooms cooled because all of the cold air produced by the A/C is going into the basement. Basement was always nice and cold but that doesn't help us sleep. I noticed the leak when I have the door mostly closed with the A/C running. It is a gale force wind of cold air coming up from the basement. During the winter, when the door was closed to the basement, I could go downstairs and break a sweat because it was so warm, also indicating a leak into that space. Note that we don't have any duct work that opens into the basement at this time.
So, I logged into my AHS account on their website to submit a service request. Duct work is CLEARLY listed as a covered option so I submitted the request. The company it was assigned to called and said they won't cover anything they can't see which, by its very nature, describes duct work. The furnace is completely accessible and we do have a crawl space accessible from where the furnace is located. I suspect the leak is somewhere in that space but they still won't even look without charging me.
Last Friday I called AHS and the representative I spoke with said all of my ductwork is covered regardless of whether or not they can see it. I was told my service request would be assigned to a different contractor. This morning when I looked, my request was still assigned to the original contractor so I called again. The representative I spoke with this morning said that they don't cover ductwork that isn't visible. WHAT?! It's never visible! It's DUCTwork! I explained that I was told on Friday I was covered but she wouldn't budge. I cancelled the request and now have to figure out how to get it fixed on my own.
Jim,
I am saddened to hear that your experience on the DuctWork request with AHS was not satisfactory. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Started calling AHS customer support to get the status for my service call. First of all, I was talking to someone whom could not speak English very well, I asked to speak to someone that could speak English, he refused. I asked to speak to his supervisor and again, he refused. Called Comfort A/C and they gave me another number to call for authorization to repair the A/C. I had already given Comfort A/C my permission to pay for the Freon.
I spent at least 3 hours trying to get through to the authorization depart to find out what the problem was. AHS was speaking on the phone to someone that AHS had authorized the repair, another person called me from AHS and said the repair was not authorized. AHS needs to get their act together and find a better way to respond to their customers rather than an overseas customer support That cannot speak English or has a clue as to what is going on.

We had renewed our AHS warranty to cover an older AC unit. Well, it had issues so we called AHS. We have a warranty, or so we thought. AHS wanted to refer us to a contractor in Phoenix while our property is in Tucson. We told them we could get a contractor and they said that would be fine. The work could be performed and they would reimburse us up to $806.00. Now that the work is complete and paid for by us AHS has sent numerous emails wanting more items. We provided those items and finally on the last email they stated this is denied.
Now mind you this has been ongoing for about a month and a half. I would hate to think other people who assume they have a warranty would be without air for that long. I wish, I had the ability to rate this company less than one star, my honest opinion is a minus 10. I also wish, I had read the numerous 1 star ratings on this site. It would have saved me much headache and wasted time. This has cost me over 15 hours between hold times being hung up on by AHS customer service as well as managers and, now being forced to write to the Attorney General and BBB.
I wanted to include this from AHS. (With an American Home Shield® home warranty, you will enjoy reliable service, effective repairs and efficient replacement of your malfunctioning air conditioning system in accordance with the terms of your plan. Home warranty plans including coverage for air conditioners vary, allowing you to customize your home warranty plan for your unique needs. When I first got American Home Shield, the guy came out and I got frustrated because I was charged $600. I was paying AHS for the whole year and I was in a contract with them but I didn't know that. Also, a guy tried to put in an AC unit in a year prior to that so, I probably had to spend out of pocket about $2000 and my AC still was still not working. When you pay into something like a warranty, you would expect to get what you pay for. When you don't get what you pay for, like I did in that case, it makes me a little bit livid about why I’m using them but I went back to American Home Shield. I didn't think they would but they let me come back on a new contract, so it was good.
My house is 20 years old and falling apart, so I was planning to use them to help get my house straight because home repair is expensive. If I fixed everything in here, it would have cost me more but using them, I thought I would pay less. I’ve been told not to get a warranty but I need one after what I’ve already paid out. I called American Home Shield when I submitted my claim and the rep said that they would call me within 24 hours once it has been sent.
My AC was not working. It was 90 degrees outside and inside my house but it felt like 100 degrees in here. Every year, I have this problem. Last year, the contractor came out, fixed it and it worked fine. But here I go again. When I called last week, I wasn’t here when the guy came. He put a capacitor in and it was cold at night, but I don't think he did a diagnostic check. It’s definitely something more than the capacitor. He also told me the AC needed to be cleaned and it does but I don't know how to do that. I used to have trees around my house and I got them cut down, so it might have some stuff around it. When I looked in the air conditioner unit after he told me that, there was a lot of water in it. I thought maybe he was gonna open it up and clean it or go in and look at stuff but he didn't do anything.
I want them to come back while I’m here, and I want him to talk to me as to what the next step would be and whether I need an air conditioning unit or if I have a bad fan motor, which I was told I had. The air conditioner has already been replaced but it might not be big enough for the house. So, right now, I have the same problem. There’s no air blowing out.

The technician was professional and gentlemanly. He gave me some good advice in terms of how and when to change filters. The AC has been working fine since then.

We got back from vacation and we discovered we had standing water in the crawlspace and, unfortunately, the sump pump was not functioning properly. And so, Black Sheep had to install a new one for us. Submitting the claim through American Home Shield was easy. The best way of submitting a request for service is online. Sometimes you get on the phone if you need to explain something, but it takes a little while.
We’ve had three plumbing issues over the years and it’s a different contractor each time, but it's not a big deal. Everybody seems capable in terms of what they’re coming to do. I'm happy with American Home Shield. The standard routine is if they can repair it, then whoever comes out, then he’ll repair it. If not, they’ll replace it. I’ve not had any issues with them. We’ve had both aspects apply to things around the home. I've been working with them for 15 years.

We were having issues with the refrigerator. The freezer stopped working. We called the 1-800 number which is the claims line that was on our policy. We got some person who clearly did not speak fluent English. We just stopped the call and decided not to pursue it. Then we called back, got a different person, and set up. We called on a Wednesday and someone came out on a Friday. The guy said there is a little switch that was loose that would shut it off at the right position and fixed that. He also fixed a drawer that was having problems opening and closing. We wrote him a check for the 75 bucks, and he was on his way. It worked out okay. He was professional, dressed nice, spoke well, and so we're happy.

One of our air conditioners wasn’t working and we filed a claim with AHS. They sent out Air Dynasty AC and Heating and they said no matter how much they wanted to charge us, they wanted to put an entire new system in, which we did not need. So, we told them we only wanted what we needed to have done and we weren’t replacing everything. So we’re not really sure what we paid and what American Home Shield paid as far as the benefit goes. It was a little confusing because whether the bill was $1600 or $10,000, the techs said that American Home Shield still pays $2000 of it, which didn't sound right to me. We've been with AHS since January and this was our second claim. So far, hings are okay but they need to be more transparent as far as what things are covered completely like the furnace or air conditioner, and on how much you are getting back in reimbursement from them for your coverage.

My air conditioning went out and it felt like the temperature was 100 degrees. So, I called Home Shield, and they sent the man out, and I was very happy he came right away. He fixed it right away, and I was really, really pleased with his work. I’m gonna keep Home Shield because this worker was so good. I’ve been having Home Shield at this place for 11 years, and I also had them where I lived before.
I had been getting this other air conditioning people ever since I’ve had Home Shield. They come out twice a year to check my air conditioning, and then they come back in October to check the heater. I have to pay for that and it's $175 a year. We had such hot weather here and I was really afraid if my air condition breaks. So, I wanted to get them to come since they service my air conditioning. When I talked to the lady at Home Shield, she said I can’t request anybody, I have to take what they give me, and that it is in my contract. But I didn’t see that in the contract. I told her that that was not how it has been before. I have always been able to request somebody. But she still said no and that I have to take who she gives me.
It’s like living in a tyrannical government where you don’t have any choice. But I didn’t get mad about it because as it turned out, the man they sent did such a wonderful job. Also, I couldn’t understand the rep's English very well and I didn’t wanna get into any unpleasantries, so I didn’t tell her about the other two people that I had a bad experience with.
I’ve always had very good quality people come out. But I had two bad experiences with the people that they sent out before. I thought about canceling Home Shield because those two visits were so bad. When they sent out the two people to work on my refrigerator, it was a disaster. When the first tech came, he looked at the refrigerator and I had water coming out on the floor. He told me I needed a new refrigerator and he was gonna tell Home Shield about it. But I never heard from him again.
I called back Home Shield several times, and finally, they said that the tech said nothing was wrong with the refrigerator. That was a lie because he had told me that I needed a new refrigerator. And then Home Shield asked me if I wanted someone else to come out. I told them that I wanted someone else to come out because I had water on the floor. So, they sent the other tech. He said that it was my water filter and that I needed a new water filter. I had to pay him $75, and then I had to pay him another $75 personally to fix the water filter. He did fix it because the water stopped coming out.
Everybody around where I’m living is quitting Home Shield, and they’re going to Choice because it’s much cheaper. But I am hesitant to change from Home Shield because my neighbor had her dishwasher broke, they came to fix it but then they did something and the plumbing broke. So, now they had to send her a plumber to fix the plumbing. With Choice, the fee is $38 but you’re not gonna get real good people for that price. But with Home Shield, you’re paying them $75. That is $10 less than what a regular call is, so you would be able to get a better quality technician. But I do notice that Home Shield needs to be careful about the qualifications of the people they send out because of the experience I had with the refrigerator. But now, I’m happy with Home Shield because I could’ve died with no air conditioner.

We currently have a policy with American Home Shield, in fact I just renewed it three days prior to this event. I submitted a service request on Saturday, May 25th at 4:30 a.m. Our central air had gone out Friday night. As of today May 28th we still have not heard from American Home Shield to set up a contractor. We have called several times and have never talked with anyone who spoke English as a first language (language barrier made it more frustrating), and we have gotten the runaround. We have been repeatedly told that a vendor was trying to be secured, and that they could give us outside authorization on Tuesday if necessary. We finally were told that our service request would be taken care of on Tuesday within 24 business hours, that they do not fill service requests on weekends and holidays.
Asked numerous times to speak with a supervisor only to be put on hold for 20 plus minutes and then the call would be dropped. I realize it is a holiday weekend, but a phone call or email would have been nice saying that due to a holiday weekend our request would be on hold until Tuesday instead of talking with multiple individuals who could finally really that information of Monday afternoon. We have been a customer for 3 years and have never had this problem, but with a heat index of 105 degrees (Southeast Alabama) some notification would have been nice. Ridiculous, beyond outrage. As of today almost 4 days later we have decided to call a heating and cooling company and paid someone to come out and fix it for $89.95 although AHS was more than happy to go ahead and collect our copay before we even had an appointment for a service provider.
Hi Amanda,
I would like to thank you for allowing me to assist you and refund the service fee.

We have been with American Home Shield since we bought our home 18 years ago. But hardly ever even use it. But we had an issue with our furnace and figured we would call them up. They linked us up with Carolina Heating Air and after 4 service calls the Customer service between AHS and Carolina Heating Air has been nothing less but disgusting. No call backs, no working for the homeowner, no communication, but plenty of dropped balls, blame game and rude disrespectful representatives between both companies that have obviously no clue on either one of their roles.
We have repeatedly asked for help in communicating with Carolina Heating Air as it is 103 degrees outside and properly 120 degrees in our home. My children and myself have suffered and we have spent money on fans and other cooking methods; even after we paid $218 for Freon that has now leaked all over our background. So miserable is an understatement. And no one can get out supposedly because they are so swamped, but the job was not finished at our home; I would think we would be a priority. But I assume they only enjoy ripping off Military soldiers per their very own rep! And all while AHS sits back and their rep laughing at our disgust.

I will not renew my contract since it costs more through them then it does to go on my own. They would not tell me who they will use as a contractor before I request service. That is a major problem since I do know the honesty and integrity of the appliance repair centers in my area. This is a small area and there only about 6 repair centers total. AHS also wants to charge me $150 as a "Dispatch Fee" And having to pay $150 just to request service, which is not refundable. This also about 3x what the honest repair shops here charge as an initial service call. This "Dispatch fee" is just way out of line.
Plus they won't tell me what additional charges there will be on top of the "Dispatch fee". Unfortunately, I believed all those wonderful reviews that gushed on and on about how wonderful AHS was. Maybe it is wonderful to the gullible. I'll consider this a lesson learned in who not to use. (PS. The part was an $8 part, so my total cost was under $70 out of pocket. Which is less than half what AHS wanted just to "dispatch" the repairman.) A lot of suckers out there and I was one of them.
Hi Darrell,
I would like to thank you for sharing your most recent experience regarding the appliance repairs and service fee cost. I understand your frustration and would be glad to speak with you and reach a resolution.

My AC stated leaking water on 5/1/2019 and reported on next day. Appointments were scheduled and cancelled by 2-3 vendors after repeated phone calls. Finally a vendor came a week after and checked it and said evaporator coil is leaking and need to replace along filling 2-3 lbs of Freon 410. AHS sent another contractor almost a week later for 2nd opinion, confirmed the same thing. POOR COORDINATION between AHS and Contractors, ** I had to contact AHS and Contractors at least 20-25 times by this time.** Customer support doesn't understand anything and when asked to forward to supervisor or someone in USA (not to disrespect them), nothing works, just hitting the wall.
Finally they have me the quote of $765 for Freon refill of 7 LBS after $10 covered by AHS. I explained AHS it requires only 2-3 lbs per what Vendor (Carolina Air INC) but story changed to 7 lbs and at 119/lb, this is double than what I could get it done by individual contractors. I told AHS, I will get the Evap coil done by vendor (Carolina Air Inc) and get the freon filled by someone else on my own expenses. AHS refused and they also gave me the cash offer with tonnes of restrictions. I finally went with AHS's vendor by paying $765 and $110 for service fees. This tells, they jack-up the price for freon and no choice for customer for freon and win-win between AHS and vendor, per my understanding.
Another big problem is it's totally different brand, my system is Carrier, they did put dirt cheap Goodman's Evap Coil, in Amazon it's $365. With this combination, I could get the work done for less than $1000, why should I use the home warranty company? Major issues:
1) Customer service is horrible, total 20-30 calls I had to make, poor answers.2) Almost a month to complete the work (except 1 extra day I took to decide whether to go with AHS or cash out option). If I haven't called, it could have taken another week or more.
3) Jack-up of freon cost compare to other vendors $49-69/lb vs $119/lb and not letting the option to split (even I want to pay from my own pocket).
4) Cash out option is on the fence, time it takes to process and also if they really refund the money based on "determination" of the work done by external contractor.
5) Vendor wants to fill 7 lbs of Freon, though only 2-3 lbs needed and AHS supported the Vendor and didn't want to comment on that. That's colluded in my opinion.
6) With AHS, my out of pocket is $875, if I get it done by myself, less than $1000 with better parts.
It deserves ZERO stars.
Aravind,
I understand you were not happy with the outcome of your experience with AHS regarding your AC system. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

I used AHS for about two years for a rental property and everything was good up until I needed their services. I wanted to take advantage of the HVAC Tune-up ($75) and take care of an issue with the system ($100), so we scheduled a service from their website and a local reputable company that I used in the past was scheduled. So far so good. Then suddenly the appointment got switched to a different local not-so reputable company. After 45-minutes on the phone, got it switched back. At this point they have charged us the $75 deductible fee for the Tune-Up and a $100 for the HVAC issue.
After 24-hours – same issue. The system had automatically switched again to a third company. This time we proceeded and scheduled the appointment. Technician never showed up. To our disbelief, we found out that the technician was stating that they had come to the property and left because nobody was home. Called AHS back to cancel with this company and reschedule. They said the service was complete since they had come to the property. So, at this point we are down $175, and no service received. I got really frustrated and called to cancel my account. Apparently, there was also a $49.99 cancellation fee on top of this.
I requested a refund since I had a proof that nobody had shown up to our property, but it has been well over 30 days and no refund received. Now, I am getting emails that I still owe the cancellation fee and I will be given to collection agency. This is so ridiculous and such a shady business practice. Please stay away from this company!!! So, to sum up, if you don’t care who comes up and service your property you will be fine. AHS’ database is full of not-so reputable companies.

I had three different work orders with American Home Shield for five total items. I had two electric issues, two appliance issues, and one plumbing issue. It's always so hard waiting on repairmen. It's very tedious. The first one was the electrical issue and the contractor was Jim Hubbard Electric. The tech was excellent. He was competent, polite, and thorough. He called the night before and scheduled an appointment with me for the next day. Everything was very positive about him. He told me what he was doing. He replaced the motor of the vent fan, but the outside was yellowed. He made suggestions on things that I could do to improve something that he couldn't do because it wasn't part of the order. He told me what to do and showed me how to do it. So, he went above and beyond. He was also very respectful of our property.
I had two other service calls, but the one with the appliances is still not complete. The tech did repair the refrigerator door, and the washing machine leak but I still have a little bit of water. He was supposed to bring me a lint catcher for my dryer, and the last time he came and repaired my dryer was about a year or so ago. But he haven't brought it to me. I checked with him yesterday and did not hear back from him. I called him and it went straight to voicemail. So, that is still an outstanding repair.
American Home Shield outsources their phone service to the Philippines and there's somewhat of a language barrier. I can tell they're scripted. But they're very nice. They want to please and help. Sometimes I get frustrated when I have a language barrier. It's kinda funny because their names are like Jeff and Ace and Raquel, and you know that's not their real names. Jeffery,
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

Filing a service request with American Home Shield has been easy. We call, the contractors come and then we pay. We also understand the rules about what they can and can't fix. The contractors they sent are really good but a couple of times, we didn't like who they sent out. They do a second opinion though and AHS has always been good with that. Other than that, the claims have always been resolved. We have used AHS for years and we find that we make back the money we’ve given within a couple of years. We like AHS and we have recommended our family and friends to use them.

The seal around the toilet, where the toilet meets the floor, was leaking. My husband filed the claim over the phone and within 24 hours, American Home Shield got the contractor out for service. The way he explained the issue was very good and he did the repair within an hour. So far, the toilet has been good. I would recommend American Home Shield.

I had a problem with the dryer. A part had come apart so I submitted a claim with AHS and it was effortless. I just went online. I clicked a couple of boxes of the Home Shield website and received a response. The appliance company called within an hour, and were out about two hours later, and repaired it. This experience was wonderful. I just wish that in cases where you have a high-end appliance that has to be repaired, they will actually replace it with what you have. Sometimes, they will give you what’s called builder standard. So if you have a three-quarter power like this garbage disposal, the builder standard is one-half horsepower, or you have a high-end ceiling fan, they just give you the standard. But overall, I prefer having a warranty.

American Home Shield was great. We’ve had them since I met Brian and I married Brian 16 years ago next month. They have always come through. We’ve had to deal with them a little bit on some things. It goes years without anything happening, and then things start breaking down. Usually I just jump online and make an appointment, and they follow through. Then someone will call us to say, “When would you like us to come?” This time, I called to make an appointment because I had questions about my oven. The young lady that helped me there was very informative and set a visit for our washer.
Both the oven and the washer are extremely old. The manufacture date was like 29 years but it's 22, 24 years before now when they purchased them. American Home Shield couldn't get parts for either one of them and gave us options of something they chose. They were willing to follow through and do it all. I’m a firm believer in sticking with what you’ve got that works really well, and I’ve had Kenmore for years and years and years. So, we went to Sears and shopped. Even the young lady that helped us there was very knowledgeable about AHS and their processes, so that was even helpful again in making sure we had the right information that I could transfer over to them. I followed the instructions in their email and sent them what they needed, and now I’m just waiting to get the checks.
We went through a process like that about 4 years ago. Our swamp cooler which was very high-end was in the same situation. It wasn’t the type that you just drive to your Home Depot-type of place and buy the cheapest one on the shelf. So, we went to a dealer and looked. When it came down to it, we had to put $100 out of our own pocket. We really had to search, but we did end up getting one that was equal in quality from Lowe’s, and they had discounted it because it was at the end of the season. We were able to make it work with putting out $100.
However, it’s hard to understand the people that they hire to talk on the phone sometimes. I don’t wanna be that kind of person, but you have to keep asking them to repeat what they say. They could speak better English. Sometimes it’s easier to do it online so you don’t have to speak with a human. Also, American Home Shield could stop raising the contracts every year. I’ve started looking into some of the new groups that send out emails, but I thought when you’re with someone for so many years and they’ve treated you right, it’s not fair to leave them.

The AC wouldn't turn on at all so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they were professional like they always are. They gave me the number of South Belt AC and Heating and my husband called. The tech said he could come that day, but it was gonna be an extra charge on our part because they were expediting it. We were more than willing to pay and he came that day. He was very, very nice and professional. We will use them down the road for different things not covered by American Home Shield.

My oven didn’t seem like it was turning off all the way and the fan was running and running. I submitted a claim with AHS and my experience with their reps was really good. They were very courteous, prompt to get someone out there, and they responded well. But they sent someone out initially that I wasn’t too impressed with and he was just kinda looking to throw parts at the machine. Then, they sent out a second contractor that was more thorough and the techs were right on time. They did everything in a timely manner, too. They checked everything they could check and they definitely tried to figure out what the problem was. But no repairs were actually done. It was just that the oven didn’t seem like it was doing what it was doing when I called for the repair. Either something wasn’t working quite right or maybe the relay was stuck. But it seemed to have rectified itself. All in all, AHS was very helpful.

All American Plumbing was great and I enjoyed them very much. However, Bass Plumbing, the first people that American Home Shield tried to assign, really stunk. First off, the number assigned to the account with AHS was somebody’s cell phone and he was on vacation. So, when I called, I was given another number to call, and I called that number. The lady said that I was on the schedule for the next day and that somebody would call me back. Nobody ever bothered to call me back. Then I tried to call that number the next morning to find out what was going on, and they never answered the phone. So, I finally found a third number for them, and I called that number. And the lady said that she doesn’t’ do scheduling and she would have the lady that does scheduling call me. They never bothered to call me.
I called AHS back and asked them to reschedule me with somebody else. So, then I talked to the lady and she was very helpful. She said that they were gonna assign the claim to All American Plumbing. They called me and came out the next day. I liked their timeliness and the way that the contractor fixed the problem. He was very good all-around. The leak was causing mold in my crawlspace that I ended up spending $5,000 to fix and since the repair, everything is going great and there are no more leaks. This is the first time I’ve had to use AHS and my overall experience was good although the first time I called in to make my complaint, I got some gentleman on the phone that didn’t speak English very well.

Having a broken freezer, I made a service request to American Home Shield and their online claims process was easy. My case was assigned to Suncoast A/C, Heating & Appliance and they were really good when it came to the scheduling. They came out in a couple of days and did a fine job. The refrigerator is good now performance-wise. The only thing is American Home Shield doesn't allow the technicians to fix things when they come out. They have to ask for approval then AHS dictates what is wrong with a unit. But they are not the ones actually servicing the product.

We had an issue with our AC in the attic and we submitted a claim with AHS. It was easy to file the claim with them but the techs who came out didn't do all the piping they should have done. So we had to turn it off until we had a new pipe put in there because it overflowed a little bit. And they had to reconfigure some PVC pipe. So far, we've had two claims since I've had AHS and I have no complaints about either contractors they sent out. They were professional and they showed up when they were supposed to.

We had a garbage disposal under the kitchen sink and we noticed that it was leaking. It had water all over so, we called American Home Shield. They assigned RDN Plumbing and they were very quick to respond. They immediately called us, gave an appointment and they confirmed that the person would come on a particular Friday. They came on time and checked. The rep tried to fix it but it was not fixable. He said it needed to be replaced. He brought a new one from his truck and replaced it.
At that time, it was working but when we used the compactor again when we switched it on, it started leaking. The problem was not that severe the way it was when he came in, but partially, the problem was still lingering. I contacted American Home Shield again and RDN Plumbing is coming tomorrow. When I contacted AHS, it took a lot of time and I waited 20 minutes. So, I didn’t like that. They should call back rather than keep us waiting.

We had some issues when the garage door was going up and down. The contractor pulled it down and put in a gear. It worked for a while and then, it quit. When he came back to fix it, it wasn't a problem with the garage door and it worked perfectly. The contractors that AHS sent out were knowledgeable about what they were doing. They were very helpful and experienced. If you get there a few minutes late, they wait. AHS is a fast operation. They do a hell of a job and I love them. They are an excellent outfit which is why I pay the money to be there. I've been with them for some time and my experience has been excellent too. So I have no complaints. I'd recommend them to anybody.

Submitting a claim to AHS is always an easy process. I do it online. I had an AC issue and submitted a claim to AHS. Apparently, there was water in the pan. The float got to a certain height that kicked off the breaker in the attic, which cut all the electricity to my thermostat and turned it completely off until the water went down. Then, the unit came back on, but when the condensation in the pan got high again, it cut off again. So, Air Dynasty A/C & Heating had to run bleach through the line to get rid of the algae that was backed up inside the line.
Johnny was the one who came out and he was very understanding and easy to talk to. He made sure that we understood that he was a local service and if I needed someone to come back out just for regular maintenance, he offered his services for that. He was supposed to be there between 2 o’clock and 6 o’clock but he was there before 3 o’clock. Before coming in my home, he put covers on his feet and made sure that he had covers on his feet every time he came in. He made sure he had his tools before he went up in the attic. So, he did good.

The start button on my washing machine wouldn’t work. It happened on a Friday and they contacted me first thing Monday morning, before 8 o’clock. Then I called them, and they had all the information. I told the rep what it was, and she said they’d see if they could order a part, have it with them and fix it the same day. Then they scheduled to come on a Friday.
The technician called on a Wednesday. He was in town and said he had a cancellation. He asked if he could come out. I said sure so he came out, looked at it, and said, “Unfortunately, we can’t get parts for this anymore.” He took it apart and looked at it. There was nothing he could do. He said, “I’ll call you either today or tomorrow, let you know my findings and what we’re gonna do.” He called later that afternoon and said that he’d turned it over to American Home Shield. He said, “If you don’t hear from them by tomorrow, call them.” I didn’t give it the full day and called them ‘cause I can’t do without a washer. They were very, very helpful and very informative. They answered all my questions. They allowed me $643.13. The rep emailed me a list of different machines. I wrote down the model numbers that they gave me, and I went down to the different stores and looked.
I really wasn’t interested in a GE product, and I did find an LG product that I liked. I wanted the dryer to match it. They were 16 years old. I called them back and they said, “Go ahead and buy it.” They gave me the instructions on how to get reimbursed. One of the stipulations was that it had to have a year’s manufacturer’s warranty on it. I made a copy of the receipt, did everything, and mailed it in. Then I got to looking at what I mailed in and the receipt did not have that one year manufacturer’s warranty. So, I got online and printed out a copy of the washer itself then I resent everything. I’ve been very happy with American Home Shield and I have recommended them. A lot of my friends have gone to American Home Shield on my recommendation.

We went on a vacation, came back late one afternoon and one of my air condition units had went out. I called AHS and the next day they sent a company out. The fan was bad, so they had a fan on the truck, and they replaced it. All was back up the next day. But one of the thing about AHS is that I can hardly talk with anybody. Everything is automated.
My doorbell won’t work, and he came, looked at a few wires, then told me he’ll be back in touch with me. And four days went by without a call. They never did fix the issue. But AHS have some contractors that are good.
They did a great job this last go-around. I just wish they would deal with more local people instead of the mom-and-pop business. The majority of them be from out of town. Twice, they used somebody like 100 miles away instead of somebody local. AHS is trying to get away from the big companies where they can save money too. I understand. But at least they need to get somebody, when they tell you something, they're gonna do it.

American Home Shield has fixed a couple of different things for me. When I had a heating issue, the tech from Central Jersey Heating and Cooling came when he said he was gonna come. He was very professional and nice and he worked very quickly. He came back several different times to fix the issue because it was one of those weird hard to find things, but he eventually figured it out and changed a switch. And it's all good. It was not the first time he’d been here. He helped me fix the air conditioning a year or two ago. He's a good guy.
It's easy to submit claims with American Home Shield. I typically do it online, unless I’m in one of those places where I have time to chat with somebody, and I can talk about the issue a little bit. They do what they say they’re gonna do. I had to pay a little bit for certain things, but that was fine. American Home Shield is a good company. And I just recommended them to a coworker.
