American Home Shield is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. Last summer my A/C unit broke while it was 100+ degrees that week (of course). A few months ago my water heater broke. Each time they gave me the runaround and I had to go back and forth with them and the company I was assigned to. When my A/C broke they said they wouldn't cover the cost of the new unit because the unit I had was made for a smaller condo and it is required that I get a unit that is made for the size of my condo. I'm not sure why this would fall on me considering I didn't choose the original unit (that was too small). They made me go back and forth multiple times and took forever to authorize the payment and work so the electrical company could replace it. We had to end up staying with a friend because it was so hot and our dog was starting to get lethargic
When my water heater broke the contractor told me it was broken and the whole thing needed to be replaced. Again, they took forever to authorize the payment and when they did they told me it would be $500. I said okay and then the plumbing company called me and said it would be $590. I said that AHS told me it was $500. So, again, I had to call back and forth multiple times. AHS told me they quoted me wrong so they would try and see if they could just charge me the $500. Then they came back and said the technician told them wrong so it was his fault and I would still have to pay $590. Every time I have dealt with AHS they are never sympathetic to the issue and never seem to be in a rush to help. My water heater was broken for a week which meant cold showers for a week.
Their call center is awful (I think it's based in India and their English is bad) and they are never helpful. I always get different information depending on who I talk to. Recently my garbage disposal broke too. They assigned me a company who never contacted me for an appointment. I tried calling them 3 times and I was on hold for over 10 minutes with no answer and no option to leave a voicemail each time. The first person I talked to at AHS told me to give them another hour and then call back if no one had contacted me. The second person at AHS told me they company has 24-48 hours to call me. I then asked for a supervisor because I was getting frustrated and getting different info from different people. She told me her supervisor was busy and put me on hold for over 10 minutes so I gave up and hung up. I figured she was just waiting for me to do so since she had no intention of letting me talk to a supervisor.
Then after 48 hours I called AHS again asking for another company to be assigned to me. They told me they would email the company and if I hadn't heard from them in an hour to call back. I told them that was not okay with me and they needed to assign me a new company now since that's the policy. After going back and forth and the customer service agent about this he finally gave me a new company. I called the new company, someone answered right away and I made an appointment, what a concept! Needless to say I have cancelled my membership and I can't wait to save $500+ per year and never have to deal with this terrible company ever again!
Good morning C G,
I understand your frustration in regard to the non covered cost to have the water heater replaced. I would be glad to speak with you to discuss your experience.

After playing phone tag for a week I was able to return speak to the AHS rep. I explained everything to her and she contacted the plumbing company to get the job finished. The plumbing company never showed up again and the AHS rep got the owner on the phone and he came out personally to see what needed to be finished and then said his guys would be back out the next day. We to make a long story short, his guys came back out and finished the job after almost a month of fighting with them. I really think AHS should not use this plumbing company in the future since it reflects so badly on them as a home warranty company. I am very satisfied with how the AHS rep help us solve the problem. AHS also needs to not out source their customer service to countries like India because the language barrier is a real pain. So I am changing my star ratings to 3 since the resolved the issue the best they could. A call Center here in the United States could have prevented 90% of our frustration.

We had a issue with our water heater and AHS took the service request and we had a plumbing company out there within 24hr. The plumber let AHS know we need a new water heater and it was installed the next day, well that is 99% of the install was completed. The plumber said he need couple pieces to finish the install and would be back the next day to finish and haul away the old water heater but that was the last we heard from him and he never returned.
After a couple days we called AHS and they did absolutely nothing. The first customer service rep. hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor and the second time I called they put me on hold and then said they were unable to help because the company wouldn’t answer their calls. I will be trying to call again and I pray this time I at least speak to someone that speaks English fluently but I suspect customer service office is in India. Ranger Holding LLC is the plumbing company that they sent out.
Good morning Henry,
I hate to hear about your American Home Shield experience and the level of service that you received. I would be glad to speak with you and address your concerns and get the water heater repaired.

The contactor in my AC unit had corrosion on it. I went online to submit a claim to American Home Shield and I found that their website navigation was good. I put in the request on a Saturday I got a call on the same day. Though their techs from Airmax Heating & Cooling weren't able to come until the Thursday after, they were good. They were able to get the corrosion off and everything worked out. My AC worked fine after that and I've had no problems so far. Everything was great with AHS.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. We look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

The coolant in the AC stopped recently and I wasn’t getting any cool air within our house. The first time I made the claim, it was no problem. The second time when I had to do a recall, I had a problem ‘cause American Home Shield had no answer. The service was a total of a week. I was in a hot house with no air and I couldn’t reach anybody. The first time, the contractor came in late and I didn’t get service until 7:30, and about 30 minutes later, everything stopped working. The second time when they came out, the guy was very helpful and he explained everything to me.

Submitting the claims to American Home Shield was easy and I didn’t have any problems navigating their website. The first claim went well and the plumber was able to fix my problems. The second one is still ongoing. The contractor fixed one of my two problems, and they’re gonna be coming back to fix the other problem. I had a garbage disposal that went bad, and they’re gonna replace it here in the next couple of days. The contractors were great, friendly and professional. I asked about a few other problems that I had besides what they were coming here for and they were very helpful with those. They were excellent in doing what they do.

My garbage disposal stopped working so I called American Home Shield and they sent a plumber from Aladdin. The garbage disposal was not good anymore. It was leaking water from below and it had to be changed. That's what the plumber did and he was done in about 10 minutes. He was very competent and good at his job.
I've been with American Home Shield for more than 20 years and surprisingly, when I submitted my claim this time, it was very easy. The process of me filing the claim and them scheduling the person to repair was very fast. A year ago, I submitted a claim for the air conditioning as it wasn't cooling enough. AHS kept sending the same company, and always the same problem. It took three or four times for them to come back and try to fix it. And finally, I gave up. But this time, the experience was very good. I am very satisfied. They raised their service call price, but I'm planning to stay with them nonetheless.

The AC company AHS sent did a good job. There was a ducting to my son’s room that wasn’t flowing properly. There was something that was restricting the line. They’ve repaired the line, and when they left, the AC was running properly. We’ve had claims in the past that haven’t gone so well, but this particular one went fine.

My sump pump started running so I went down to my lower level and I had water in there 'cause the water was spraying out the back of my hot water heater. I called American Home Shield and they took care of it. The original company that they sent wasn't gonna be able to get to us for a week so we talked to them and they said that they would call AHS to see if AHS can get someone else to come out and they did that. Then the Siouxland Heating and Cooling called us an hour or two later. We talked to them and they set up and came out. They changed out the hot water heater. The service was great. They were awesome and got it taken care of the same day so the hot water just stopped for half a day. Overall, it's been pretty good.

I've used American Home Shield for about 4 years and filing a claim has been easy. I had one light that was flickering. When the contractor came out, he said it was the bulb and not the fixture that was defective. We also had a doorbell that was not ringing properly. We had installed a ring doorbell and it wasn’t capturing the signal so he addressed that. He said that it was the wire doorbell that had broken so we replaced it. I have a current claim coming in because the garage door is not closing. When you hit the button, it keeps coming back up so they have somebody coming out fairly quickly from the local community. However, the contractors contracted with American Home Shield could expand the service hours. They’re not allowed to come on the weekends.

The pilot light of my water heater wouldn't stay lit. The technician came out and said the water heater was 15 years old and that it was just going to last for eight years. Then the company called, said that American Home Shield was gonna replace the water heater, and I was totally up with that. I got a phone call from American Home Shield saying that they were going to replace the water heater and the only costs that weren't covered was the installation charges. A couple of days later, they replaced the water heater. It all took about a week.
I've been with American Home Shield for about two years now and they've been very good and real prompt. They were able to solve an issue with the refrigerator and then they got the air conditioning fixed. My only complaint was when our microwave broke and they couldn't repair it, but I never got any follow-up with American Home Shield. I just bought another one because the microwave was the least expensive on the list of appliances in my house. So, that was kind of frustrating. But other than that, American Home Shield has been fast and reliable when it comes to major ticket items.

This is our second year with American Home Shield. We had it last year when we bought our house and we decided to renew it. It's a good policy and I think it's smart to have it. I just wish it was a little more professional. With the way that they communicated and their advertising, it's a premium product. They're there when you need them. But the truth is that it's very much of an automated system. When you get somebody on the phone, they're not a manager. They can never get the manager. Nobody has any control over anything and you end up being at the mercy of the system or the process. You just have to accept it for what it is.
The only thing that frustrated me, which is kind of a thing in general with American Home Shield, is that I feel like they need to do a better job of vetting their contractors. A lot of the contractors do good work and they're professional, but I don't like how they do what they wanna do because they feel like it's guaranteed work coming from American Home Shield and nobody's really gonna hold them accountable. That has happened to me more than once.
Our air conditioning unit was out for five days. Today isn't as hot, but it's been like 90-95 degrees every day. I had to have the same vendor come back out and do work on the same air conditioning unit that they had already serviced. I especially felt like our claim should have been a priority because it was a revisit. But they made us wait a week before they could get us on the schedule. The lady was telling me that a technician won't be in our area until Friday. I don't think that's appropriate to do business like that. I feel like with the way the calls come in, it should be based on the priority in general and not how far away it is from their home office.
I know Atlanta is a huge area and a lot of these companies will tell American Home Shield that they do all of Metro Atlanta. But then they do things where they say, "We don't do a lot of work in Alpharetta, so we're gonna make you wait five days before we're even gonna show up." When I got back to American Home Shield, they told me they don't really have any control over how their contractor schedule things. And it's not an emergency because I have air conditioning on one level. I just have it in our upstairs level. Sometimes it can be frustrating because the people you're talking to in American Home Shield don't really have any power or control to address your concerns. They just kinda tell you what's on their script.

We weren’t getting full cool air coming in from our AC unit. We called AHS to submit a claim and it was a pretty easy process. I prefer to file my claims with them on the phone. Automated services are always a pain to get through to people, but I think that’s for every company, so it’s all good. Their reps are friendly, easy to work with, and they usually get things accomplished within 24 hours. For our AC problem, A&R Complete Service came out and fixed it. Other than that, I’ve only had one experience with AHS in the last five years where I did not like the contractor. When I called back to Home Shield about it, they apologized and said they would make a note of my account not to ever recommend that company for me again.

We had a clogged drain and it was backed up in the bathroom. We called AHS to come out but it took so many phone calls and there was so much drama. The techs went under the house and there was water there. So, it became a big thing that we had to have that water pumped out because they said that was dangerous for them to go under there. Then they noticed that raccoons had been living in there, so we had to get an animal trapper person to come out and trap that. It cost another $1,000 and all that was supposedly for their safety. But the crazy part was we went back and forth for with them for months and in the mean time, I was without water and I could not use the water for two months almost.
My parents were the landlords of the house, so I was running back and forth to their house because they live on the side of me. I’m sure that as landlords, my parents could put me in a hotel but I was not gonna jeopardize them too like that when this was a job that they were paying insurance every month for. At any rate, we went off the insurance and did the repair on our own with another plumber. They did nothing under the ground but they went up to the roof, came down, and unclogged all our drains. I couldn't believe it.
At that point, we were gonna discontinue American Home Shield for the stress. I was extremely irate with the frustration and inconvenience. So, now the house is nice because we had someone come pump out the water and if there were any raccoons living under there, we had all that taken care of. But for us to pay $3,000 out of our insurance to have someone else come in and go straight through the roof, go down to the main pipe, and was done within an hour or two, was crazy.
But we tried to use AHS again recently when the belt was broken on the dryer and this time everything went smoothly. It was very easy to submit the claim and they sent AAA Appliance for the repair. The tech who came out, Mario, is a regular one that comes for some of the calls for that and we don't usually have an issue with him. But after all that happened and talking to other people from whom I heard other bad complaints, I’m surprised my parents still have the home insurance and didn’t change. So, we still have AHS but I wouldn’t recommend them at all.
Tina,
I hate to hear that you were not satisfied with the service received with AHS. I have sent a private message to you in an effort to get more information to assist you further. I look forward to hearing from you.

I tried to submit the claim online for a dishwasher door that would not open. Eventually I called because I wanted to tell American Home Shield that I wasn't home all the time, give them instructions for how to let me know and get home 10 minutes before the repairman. In these days right now, if you can talk to a human being, it's all pretty good. But when they're kind on top of it and listen to you, then it's very good. And that's what they did.
The contractor came on Memorial Day. When American Home Shield called me, I told them it was not urgent and asked them why were they making him come on Memorial Day. The rep said he works on Memorial Day. But when he came and looked at it, he realized that he had to order a part. He had come from way west. So, I kinda told him, "I'm sorry. I could have sent you a picture of it or something, what was wrong with what." He was fine with it but I just felt bad that he had to come on his day off.
We waited for about 4 days for the part and once he came back, he was very professional. He knew right what to do. He went in and unscrewed the old one. He apologized that he couldn't get a white handle to match, but you don't even see it. I told him I didn't even care as long as the dishwasher door was easy to open and close. He was very kind.
I've been telling everyone lately that I have been very happy overall about having the service from American Home Shield because. It has saved me so much money. There was a time when I called them out for the garage door and the guy came out and couldn't do anything, but he charged me $60 of service fee just to drive out. So, when I call now, I ask, "What if it doesn't get fixed?" They put a supervisor on, and the supervisor says, "You should never have to give them any money." It's always through them. So, I learned my lesson.
Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with AHS is greatly appreciated. Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Worst company ever. I paid for a service that never happened. AHS does not have service providers in mountain town outside of cities. My deductible was collected and service was never performed. I paid for my own repair and was never reimbursed for deductible or repair. AHS will not cancel service agreement unless I pay $42.00 admin fee. It’s been 6 months since Initial contact and no one will refund my deductible. Do not sign with them! They will take your money and leave you without service!! Worst appliance service ever!! They get zero stars in my book!
I understand your frustration in regard to the delay in service to have the service fee refunded. I would be glad to speak with you to discuss your experience.

We have had American Home Shield for 18 years. When we first had the contract the service and contractors they sent out were good and honest. Over the last five years the companies they sent out have for the majority been a lower quality. This is the third very disturbing issue we have had with American Home Shield and will be our last if they cannot rectify the issue. We have always replaced everything when needed and maintained our appliances and equipment. Our dishwasher stopped running we called they sent out a very nice man who I have to say has nothing to do with this review. Apparently the board is out and the fuse is not correct. The only companies that have touched the dishwasher were ones American Home Shield sent out.
Now they are saying that the fuse was an off market fuse and it’s not covered. My husband and I have never touched or opened the dishwasher other to load dishes. That is why we have paid them for 18 years because we could call and paid and they handled it. However implying that we changed a fuse and board is ridiculous, to not cover an item, of someone who has been loyal customer for years despite the decrease in quality. We have filed a complaint and will push it as far as necessary as needed because it is not ok to not monitor the companies you are sending to homes and then blame the homeowners for the shabby products those companies put into the homeowners appliances/equipment. It is truly sad that the integrity of contractors sent out and the companies sending them out is so poor.
Your patronage to American Home Shield over the past 18 years is more than appreciated. Your concerns are understood regarding the denial of the dishwasher repairs. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

Updated on 06/20/2019: I want to follow up on my previous review of AHS’s home warranty service. Spoiler: it didn’t get better. After finally getting the issue resolved, AHS had a “social media manager” call me to ask about my experience since I left a review on this site. I spoke to her in detail about the poor experience I had dealing with AHS and the contractor they hired for the job. I told her about my experience with AHS’s customer service reps, their prevarication, their blame shifting, their slavish obedience to corporate policies that fly in the face of empathy towards the actual humans paying then for their service. It fell on deaf ears.
She asked if my A/C had been repaired. It had (after 9 calls, two technicians, and 5 days), so she said service had been rendered within the boundaries of their company policies. I told her perhaps, then, AHS should reconsider policies which could leave a customer so unhappy. AHS has permanently lost my business. In the end, the social media manager’s call was a hollow attempt at damage control - absolutely meaningless. She never once offered a solution, but rather more banal corporate platitudes meant to placate a dissatisfied customer. Yet another experience to lessen my opinion of AHS.
Original Review: My A/C unit failed during a Central Texas early summer. It's hot. AHS contracted a local company to repair the issue. Firstly, I had to wait 4 days for an appointment. Okay, they're busy, I understand. Then, when the repairman came out, he didn't have the common part to fix the issue. How do I know it's common? The repairman told me it was.
So, I contacted AHS to find another contractor to fix the problem. They said they were unable to transfer the work order until they were able to get the diagnosis from the contractor who failed to fix it. At this point, my options are to wait another 2 days for a fix or for AHS to get the diagnosis from the failed contractor. Rock and a hard place... I then requested a refund and was met with corporate customer service gobbledygook that had nothing to do with my refund request. Bad customer service plus asinine corporate policies equal nightmare experience. I'd avoid AHS if I were you.
I hate to hear about your experience with American Home Shield and the issues that you experienced to have the air conditioner system repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and reach a resolution.

I have been a customer for 9 years. Service was decent in Italy but declined in the last 5 year's. Every summer for the last 5 years my A/C goes out. I live in Central Florida where the heat index can exceed 100 degree daily. I can say I have went without air for at least 1 week for the last 5 year's. They contract with Total Air Care that runs a call center where hold times can exceed 40 minutes. Currently I have not had air since May 14th and today is June 7th. They bandaid the problem so they don't have to replace the unit. Freon is only paid at 10 bucks a pound and going rate is 3 times that. So bank on paying your service fee of 75.00 (that is promised to be raised in a few years, it was 50 initially) plus any Freon added plus fine print.
I have been given the run around by American Home Shield as well as Total Air. Wasted countless hours on hold since May 14th. It's 82 degrees in my house and neither one of these companies care I have 2 kids and 1 dog in this heat. It's unfair and should be illegal for them to leave you in those kinds of conditions for almost a MONTH now. Frustration does not even begin to cover all the stress, heat, inability to cook as it makes the home warmer, laundry is done at night when it's only 80 degrees in the house.
They should be required to do these repairs within a reasonable amount of time and not act like it's no big deal and they understand my frustration. NO you are in an air conditioned office. You can't begin to understand all the hardships this has put me. After calling relentlessly between the 2 companies and AHS approval department. I spoke with a gentleman that was very dry and acted bothered he even took my call. It's Friday. The soonest they can come out is Tuesday so another 90 degree weekend with no AC. My advise is RUN. BUYER BEWARE!!!! They will NEVER REPLACE your Central a/c unit so buckle up for a long hot ride.

I have been paying American Home Shield for almost a year now and the 1st service call with them. I called in Tuesday evening, May 28th that my SEPTIC SEWAGE EJECTOR PUMP is broken and I can’t flush my toilet and they charged me $125 on the spot and I had to call the contractor the next day 3 times to get thru to him which he told me I would have to call on Thursday to schedule an appointment and finally the contractor came to my house with no tools and he told me my pump is not covered but I specifically bought the optional coverage and paid extra for my SEPTIC SEWAGE EJECTOR PUMP and this is the option only available for the first year customer and American Home Shield is a fraudulent company and they charged you every month and whenever something is broken, they refused to pay.
I couldn’t flush my toilet for almost a week and I’m not the only victim of American Home Shield and there are millions of other customers framed by American Home Shield and this kind of fraudulent company should be shut down to protect harmonization of the society and customer rights and avoid letting customers paying in every month but not getting their claim honored.
Sarah,
I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Myers did a great job with the leak that I had. It didn't take very long at all for them to come out. As a matter of fact, the young lady who helped me was extremely helpful. It is a very good company. They were very responsive, prompt and very professional, and they took care of the problem. But initially, the person at American Home Shield had told me a different contractor would be at my house that Saturday morning, between 7:30 and 9:00. I set up a time for his visit but at about 10 minutes to 11:00, I still had not heard from him nor had he come to my house. So I called to ask him what time he was going to be there. He proceeded to tell me that he had had problems with his truck the day before and I understand that. Things happen but when I asked him when he was gonna call and let me know that he wasn't coming, he got very upset with me.
A reasonable person would have called. He said he didn't get home until 10:00 that night and he thought it was too late to call me. It wouldn't have been too late for him to call me. But if that's how he felt, I understood that too. Why didn't he call me that morning to tell me he wasn't coming though? I asked him that and he got angry with me. I called American Home Shield to report it and asked them if they could send someone else but they felt like they had to send the same contractor. I told them that the guy was very upset with me and I would rather not have him come to my house to do any repairs. I ended up talking to the one person and then another person, and they were able to straighten it out.
But I had never called American Home Shield and asked them to change a contractor before. I've had American Home Shield for many years and I've always had a great experience with them. So I was a little disappointed that they took me through that. It probably took me an hour and a half on the phone to get it straightened out. They even told me they had to hang up, although they called me back.
That contractor apparently told them they would call me that night between 6:00 and 8:00 and tell me when they could come. But what sense would that make that night? I'm still puzzled by his thought process. A reasonable person would have thought to call their first appointment that day when they got the next morning. Plus we have cellphones. They could have called me in the car on their way to the appointment that they were gonna go to. If I had left, I'm sure American Home Shield would've charged me for whatever the cost was of that person to come to my house. So if they tell me they're coming, I'm not leaving until they come. American Home Shield has done a great job. It was just that little thing.

American Home Shield is fine. It just doesn’t cover enough. The air conditioning has gone out at our house and they handled a small part of the air handler. It didn’t use to be that way. Everybody’s cutting everything and if you’re gonna have to pay for everything anyway, there’s no need of having American Home Shield. We became members of American Home Shield 10 years ago and I haven’t had them that much because it wasn’t appropriate for them to send anybody or the issue wasn’t covered. They need to get more things to be covered for all kinds of people. Young people don’t mind but we're senior citizens and we really depend on American Home Shield for a lot of repair. We’re not getting that much on the help and I doubt if we will renew it. Another thing is that business of the time that you have to stay on the phone to even file a claim. It's really frustrating when you get there and then you have to wait for an hour.

One of my AC units stopped working and I filed a service request with AHS for that. The last few times that I've submitted a claim, I've done it online. They go ahead and take the payment for the service request, which I like so I don’t have to actually give money to the technician that comes. It’s just one less thing I have to do. Also, the last three claims I've had, two of them have been related to AC, so it has been the same contractor and service has been great. AHS is a money saving service, so I’m happy with it.

I had another appointment earlier in May and my son had to go into the hospital. I canceled straight away with AC Wizard and then, I called at some time. I canceled that because the $75 fee was taken out and I have not received that back yet. Everything else has been positive.

Everything was really great. The only problem I had was when I received the text telling me who had been assigned and gave me the phone number. When I called that phone number, there was no identification and no answer. They wanted me to put in my area code then they would tell me that my area code was not in their service area. So, I became very worried and tried to call American Home Shield back. I talked to somebody who basically said she couldn’t help me. As far as scheduling for claims, I prefer doing it online. There were one or two claims that didn't pan out the way they should’ve. But our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the pool pump and it has been fine so far. It had stopped working and when the technician looked at the description I had written, he said it was gonna be one of two things. It was either the motor or the capacitor that had burned out. He looked at it and not two minutes later, he said the capacitor was gone. Then he went to his truck and got a new one. He put it back on and we were up and running in five minutes.

Our air conditioning unit wasn’t cooling enough because there was not enough Freon, and the contractor that was sent by American Home Shield added a little bit of Freon. Plus, the unit was kind of little dusty, so they washed it and then they added something on it. I submitted that claim online, and then they cancelled that one because that was a different company and they didn’t want to come until June 5. So, I called American Home Shield back, and they called another company who was able to come the next day. They were very professional, too.
Everything is fine now. I was kind of affected before because I submitted a claim online, and then I had to call these people. They said they are not available for six days. How come American Home Shield doesn’t have anybody who can come within 24 to 48 hours? I’ve been paying for American Shield every single month for a few years. And now, I need American Home Shield, and they said, “Oh, people are not available for five, six days.” And I am without AC and in the heat. So, I told them that it isn't fair that I’ve been paying for the last four years and never had any issue with my equipment. I was upset and I called American Home Shield. And they handled it very nicely. I am happy.

But when they showed up, they were phenomenal. The first time they came, they put Freon in the unit and they backed that for 60 days. They were really good about the situation. The technician was extremely helpful and he even put covers over his shoes when he came in the house. He also said that they would come right back out if there would be an issue. The water's still leaking down my wall and it's been going on for 4 weeks now. The contractors are blaming each other on whose fault it is. The AC people said that it's the plumbing people but the plumbing people said that it's the AC people. The plumber was gonna keep making a bigger hole in my sheetrock every time he kept trying to see exactly where the pipe is leaking from. I told him that the AC guy already took film of it. He told me that nobody's doing sheetrock repairs in Corpus 'cause they locked the contract. I told him he doesn't work for American Home Shield so I don't care what he has got to say. He told me, "If American Home Shield told me that they're gonna fix the sheetrock, then that's what I'm gonna go on."

We’ve used American Home Shield for a lot of things for this house and I would recommend it. We had a plumbing issue under our garden tub and American Home Shield contacted us right away on who the plumber would be. The plumber also did a great job. There was a pinhole leak where the copper wire connects and he was here for almost four hours getting it taken care of. He was also professional and nice. He cleaned up after himself and gave us information on where to get tile. We were looking for that because it’s hard to match a 13-year-old tile. Everything worked out. There is no leak now and we found the tile.
American Home Shield also covered my oven but the only person who would work on it was in Chino Valley and they didn’t wanna deal with American Home Shield because they would have to stay on hold for so long. I told them I would pay them and then I would be on the phone with American Home Shield for them. I gave American Home Shield all the numbers that a plumber guy normally would give them and at the end of the conversation, they thought I was the plumber’s office. I said no. It was just that we went through three local people to get our oven fixed.
We live in Prescott, Arizona but a lot of the people who come and work on our house come from Phoenix. So it's like a two-hour drive, which is a little inconvenient. When you wanna get service from anything, it’s hard to find qualified people up here to do it. This is like a big retirement area. But Prescott Valley, which is right next to us, is growing so fast and there is a lack of doctors and professional people, even painters and contractors. When we were living closer to Tacoma, everything was great, as far as service and finding people who were qualified to do things. But I’m glad American Home Shield now has a plumber that they contracted out with here in Prescott. That makes it easier. They’re gonna have to get more like Pruitt's Plumbing but luckily, they came on board.

I wish I could give negative stars, since this company has been unethical in its practice during my first service experience itself. We noticed that the ice maker of the refrigerator wasn't vending water or ice, as well as the refrigerator was making noise. Hence we placed a service request (5/31/19) to have both the issues fixed. The contractor assigned to us was SOS services, and when he came to do the service, he fixed the noise issue by replacing the motor fan. For ice maker, he indicated the refrigerator ice maker door needs to be replaced since it is a common issue with GE refrigerators. He told us he will get the part, work with AHS for authorization and replace it.
Here is where things will start to go from "Good" to being "Awful". The service status was marked as "Waiting for parts" by the contractor, and suddenly after 4 days (6/3/19) he closed the service as "Job Done". Surprised, we tried to call the contractor to understand what was going on, but he wouldn't pick our calls or return our voicemail. We called AHS customer service (seemed it was outsourced outside of US). The representative listened to what we said, and she tried to contact the contractor, but the contractor didn't pick up. The representative indicated AHS will send email to contractor to respond to us in 1 day.
The day passed without contractor calling us, and hence we called AHS customer service again next day (6/4/19) - the representative listened to what we said, and suddenly the call was disconnected. We had to call again, and the new representative tried to make similar failed attempt to contact the contractor, and indicated that she will escalate to contractor relations, assuring someone will call us next day.
The day passed again without anyone calling us. We called AHS customer service again (6/5/19), and now the representative said after contacting the contractor, the contractor informed her that the part was denied to be covered since the ice maker has some malfunctioning not related to normal wear and tear, and I need to pay $1000 to contractor to have it serviced. On my request, she had me connect to contractor (since he was happily ignoring our calls and voicemails). The moment the contractor heard my name, he disconnected. This clearly indicates lack of professionalism and unethical from the contractor.
Furious, I called AHS again asking to assign me another contractor. This new representative was worst customer representative I ever experienced. She first indicated service is done and second opinion is not possible, then after a while indicated the service is still pending until 5 more days, so she cannot do second opinion. Which statement is true? I asked to talk to her supervisor, but she lied that her manager is on different call. So she would keep on telling one of these lies, as I tried to persuade that we don't trust the contractor and we genuinely need some different contractor to come since we use the refrigerator in normal way, and its not vending ice is "normal wear and tear".
After trying to negotiate for more than 30 minutes, we thought to call later. An hour later, we called AHS again and the person couldn't see any prior actions like contacting contractor relations in history. He indicated the same stuff about the part cannot be covered due to "not normal wear and tear". We asked if he had report from contractor that has the details, and surprisingly he didn't have it. We argued that if he doesn't have the report, and contractor told us the opposite i.e. "normal wear and tear", where was the proof that this cannot be covered? After insisting several times for new contractor, he said he will open a request with the account team, and gave us confirmation number.
Next day, as usual, nothing happened. So we called again (6/6/19), and ask status of the confirmation number. Surprisingly, there was no such number in their system. So who lied to us? The representative who gave us the number, or the new one. This new one went on same lies of busy supervisor, closed case, and reopened the prior closed case. Which means SOS service is obliged to visit us and re-evaluate. Another day passed, nothing from the contractor in spite of 24 hr window passing for him to contact us. We were contacted today (6/7/19) by a Service Resolution Specialist (not disclosing name for privacy) by email citing she will work with us on resolving. I replied on my availability but never got any call back.
So as you can see from the history above:
1. Different AHS representatives told us different things i.e. inconsistent answers.2. Clear indication of false promises or lies.
3. Favoritism to contractors, even though they were not doing the right thing.
We are tired of this company in just first service request, and are thinking of canceling the service and move to different home warranty.

I called for my central air. Contractor came on Sat. 5/20/2019. Said he would order part and be out week of June 3rd. Never heard again from contractor or AHS. Called AHS 5 times and was told each time that I would hear from the contractor relations department. Never heard, every call is anywhere from 25 mins and currently on the phone for 59 mins. They can't get me a supervisor this time to talk to. Contractor just texted me back and said he can't fit me in till sometime next week and I should get someone else. Supervisors are useless and no one seems to care or be concerned. But, they would be concerned if I didn't pay the monthly bill. Totally unacceptable! Without air for three weeks and no one will say anything other than someone will follow up and call you. To this day no call or follow up and no air. Every time I talk to AHS they say they will email contractor relations and that is all they can do. 6/7/2019.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

AHS uses poorly rated companies to come to your house. I had a plumber come out for a back up issue and the guy just kept saying "yeah something is wrong." Uhhhhh, okay? Yes we know something is wrong that is why we called. Then he says he can't find the issue with our plumbing and he put a snake into our lines and said he got "200 feet in and it didn't have a problem" (later to find out by an actual company that knows what they are doing that he was putting the snake into our septic tank, when he thought that was the main line). Sounds contradicting right? THEN I get a call from AHS that they were told there was roots in our lines and that wouldn't be covered. WHAT? Since when were there roots in my lines?
The guy left and said he did not know was wrong and we would have to pay $500 to have ours camera'd and that wasn't covered by AHS. We called Roto-Rooter and had our issue resolved the same day. So thanks for wasting my $100. THEN we have an issue with our AC and the company that was sent out has a 1 star review on Google and automatically my heart sunk. Not again... The guy comes out and says nothing is wrong with our AC, although it is set at 72 degrees and its 81 degrees in my house and our smart thermostat is giving us a warning that something is wrong with our cooling system.
The guy said it's because it's hot out, our response was "well we have lived in other houses in the same weather conditions and did not have this problem nor did we have this issue last summer", his response "well every house is different, let me go grab my paperwork"... Ummm okay? So yet again another $100 down the drain. I'm sure these people are getting paid no matter what, if they find an issue or not so they don't care. I just want my money's worth and I am not getting it with this home warranty.
I can understand your frustration with trying to get your plumbing and a/c issues resolved. I just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with unresolved issues.

Waste of time. We took out the policy 8 months ago. We had to make our first claim due to a blocked drain in the bath. A plumber came and couldn't fix it, then we had to endure days of repeated calls, misinformation, having to call back because no-one ever called back when they said they would. Only to be told after two weeks the blockage wasn't covered. So we wanted our money on a policy that doesn't even cover a blocked drain. My advice - find another company that knows what it's doing, has staff who give a damn, and who know their jobs, and don't waste your money with these people.
I hate to hear the warranty has not been beneficial to you. I just sent you an email as I would like to assist with unresolved AHS issues. I look forward to assisting you.

Had AHS send a air conditioning co out in Sept to fix my A/C. Took them 4 trips to fix it. Now in June it's still not working. Called AHS to send someone out. They came and the problem was the first company overcharged the unit causing it to overheat and shut down and AHS charged me again for the first company's mistake. They are a very poor company and would not recommend AHS to anyone.

AHS Charged my credit card $75 for a repair that was never performed or requested. It took 90 minutes before I spoke to person #4 that spoke English and could help me get the charge refunded. The experience was so disappointing I canceled my contract, which I was planning to do anyways since the service was so bad. Then they charged my credit card again for a cancellation fee of $71.16. I'll take the loss and never deal with the company again.

We bought our condo just under a year ago and American Home Shield was given to us as a gift from our realtor. We didn't have to use them until a couple of weeks ago when our dishwasher started leaking and not draining water. The technician came out and said they fixed it. Less than a week later the same problem. We called AHS back to get a second technician out requesting someone else. We were OK with having to pay the $75 fee a second time as it would have been a different technician. But it was not. It was the same technician with a different phone number on file with AHS. This as with reading other reviews with similar things happening and having to drag out repairs convinced us to cancel the call and cancel the policy to avoid any headaches.

With a full warranty and after 7 days of trying to get AHS to resolve a quickly failing a/c system, it froze over and failed today. Days ago, AHS technician reported to AHS that the system was failing. AHS required a second opinion before it could do anything further. Second opinion company arrived two days ago, inspected and failed to reassemble the unit properly--which cause it to freeze over and throw the circuit breaker. As of this morning, the unit has failed completely and is frozen over. We live in a condo, in FL with 90+ heat today, an elderly parent with a lung condition, and no way to open windows or install a portable a/c. AHS is telling us that they can't do anything until the second opinion company submits their report. Second opinion company says they submitted it to AHS two days ago.
In the year since we got AHS warranty, we've often had little to no response from them. After months of trying, they finally said that someone from AHS gave them the wrong phone number for us to call! They were apologetic but we don't pay for apologies. We pay for service, which has been very poor. It looks as if we have no a/c and no way to resolve this. We are suffering with no a/c and we are not responsible for AHS issues with another company? This is horrible service!

I told him that was unacceptable and told him to just cancel my service request and I would fix it my self which I did. I also told the rep to refund my 75.00 service call which he DID NOT. After 45 min on hold we were told a refund would take 45 days to return my money. Honestly I would not hire AHS to insure a 10 dollar used lawn mower. After 3 days J&K Plumbing called and said they will on site in 3 days to look at the water heater and diagnose the problem. Plumbing company took about half an hour to diagnose the problem and said that they will have to replace the water heater and will contact and email the report AHS. After 2 more days J&K Plumbing sent the report to AHS. AHS personnel finally called me in the night and said that the repair is not covered since it is a preexisting condition and that it has occurred two months ago. It took over 8 days and 8 days without hot water for AHS to notify me that repair will not be covered since it is a pre-existing condition. One of my air-conditioners was out. Submitting a claim over the phone for its repair to American Home Shield was easy but then I had to wait over a week in the heat before anybody came out. That was a long time when it was 90-something degrees. With their contractor, I never spoke to anybody on the phone. Instead, I got text messages saying that they would set up an appointment as soon as they could. I just got a message thereafter saying that they were coming a such a day at such a time. They never asked if it was a good time for me. It seemed a little impersonal for me. If I was gonna have to wait a whole week, it would have been nice to have at least have a voice that I could have talked to.
Nevertheless, the tech they sent was great. He didn’t take very long at all. We just had to have Freon replaced and he couldn’t have been nicer. However, AHS only paid $10 per pound of freon of the $90 per pound that we were charged. They could do better than that. Still, the air-conditioner has been fine since the repair.

Mainline Plumbing came out as a result of a pre-service tune-up that I elected to have 'cause American Home Shield was on a promotion. During the tune-up, Quality Air came and determined that a capacitor was needed. They had tested the air conditioner and determined what I needed to do. But when I went to cut on my air a few days later 'cause it had gotten really hot, the unit didn't come on at all. So, I had called them back because I didn't know why it wasn't coming on, and no one ever got back to me. It was definitely working when they came for the tune-up. When I placed the second service call for the capacitor, Mainline came out and they made that repair. They were great. They replaced the capacitor and they determined that a fuse was blown. They saw the fuse when they went inside the unit 'cause it wasn't coming on, and they replaced the fuse. So, that was good.
I don't have any difficulty with submitting the claims but I had difficulty now getting American Home Shield on the phone. They've grown a lot and it seems as though they haven't mastered handling the growth as far as getting back to the customers when there is a problem. They should get back to the customers in a better timeframe and don't have them on hold as long. Even the payment system is different. Now, they don't take any payments when they come out to your home which is fine. But a couple of times, the service was postponed for whatever reason and they took payment before service was completed. So that was an issue. That was resolved but it took some time, a lot of calls, and a lot of time on hold while I was at work. But they've been good as far as repairing or replacing items.

I most recently submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a refrigerator that was not working. I went online and submitting the claim was very easy. Then, I got a text that someone was on their way. It has the name of the company that was gonna come. The guy that came out was okay but I don't think he was very careful. He was taking stuff out of the refrigerator and he was going very fast. Some of the cold air still is not coming out in some parts but it’s coming out in another part that was never there before. He made a little incision to get some cold air coming out through another way.
This is the eighth time that the same problem has been fixed. I think that the people that are trying to fix it are under pressure to fix it, or else you get something new. After so many times of fixing the same problem, they just keep trying to patch it up. And sometimes, the problem will happen four months after. They would have to come back and try and fix the problem again. It’s like a Band-Aid for the main thing. Other than that, American Home Shield is good if you need help finding someone to come and fix things.

Recently my dryer was making a lot of noise, and a motor was replaced. Gimino's had to order a new part, and then come back and install it. I have no knowledge on air conditioner. And they answered all my questions and they were very good.
I was very happy with the timeliness, calling me back the very next day. The only part that was very difficult was waiting on the compressor to come in. The contractors had to order it, then they had to confirm it with AHS. I also couldn't believe that it was $520 to put Freon in there. That’s a bit too much. I've been paying on it for at least 20 years with American Home Shield plus the $75 fee for the guys to come out. It was exorbitant. But you have to have Freon. Of course, what's the use of changing out the compressor if I can't be cool? They told me about it and they told me how much it was gonna cost and asked me to pay for it before they change out the compressor. But they were nice about it.

I've had two claims with American Home Shield and one was for the ice maker that wasn't working. There's actually a recall on it. So the gentleman from Sears fixed whatever the recall was and it was fixed within a matter of minutes. The other claim was on my heater pump. I originally submitted the ticket verbally but the guy kept telling me it was the pool pump. Then when I saw that they had done the ticket wrong, I tried to find a way to correct it online but I couldn't. So I called but every time I called, I got somebody who doesn't speak good English. If they can't speak or understand good English, how was I supposed to make them understand? They never got it right and I quit trying. And the guy who comes in to fix it has been here three different times doing three different things.
The contractor has been super nice until he sent me a nasty email the other day saying, "You people need to stop this." He said I needed to quit turning in a ticket for the pool pump but I'm not turning in a ticket for the pool pump. He was not happy with me at all because he's showing a closed ticket on the pool pump because there was never anything wrong with it. It's the heater. Apparently, they're giving him grief. But I've sent him a message back. I told him that I have tried multiple times. He didn't respond but I did get a message from American Home Shield telling me that he was coming today. I find it easy to submit a claim with American Home Shield. I’ve been doing them over the phone and the representatives have been very competent. They didn’t drag their feet getting me some answers. They were on it. A gentleman came out to do the spring checkup for the AC and that went well. But then with this follow-up one, I got a little upset because I thought they should’ve caught the issue with the spring checkup.
The compressor on our outside central air unit was not kicking on. The fan was running but the compressor wouldn’t kick on. There were three parts that the technician had to replace and one was a leak that let the Freon out so we didn’t have any cool air. That may not have been part of what was supposed to be covered in the checkup but it cost me $250 to replace the Freon. I talked to the lady at Freedom Heating and Cooling and asked if that would’ve been covered under the prior person that had just been out. She didn’t know but she encouraged me to contact the provider for our home policy.
This is our first time with a home warranty and I realized the value of it. If I had to renew our home policy, I would, only because I really need it for big things that go wrong. I just wished they could’ve helped me more with the Freon. American Home Shield is the one that sets the policy that they only pay $10 on $110 per pint of Freon. The person that I talked to at Home Shield when I originally set the appointment up was very straightforward and told me what was gonna be the amount for the Freon. But when it got down to it, we were at $250 and that was more than I had anticipated. Still, it’s not like they didn’t solve the problem. The AC is definitely is working now.

I have three issues going on in the house right now. The garage door button sometimes works and sometimes, it doesn’t. You have to push it ten different times in different places. We were also having trouble with the garage door not going up. It would go about three feet and go back down, go up three feet then back down. So Smokey’s Garage Door came out and he found out that there was a piece inside the motor that should be round but was not. It was kind of oblong, like it had been had been hit over time or wasn’t set quite right. He fixed that then he told me that the rollers that go up and down the track should be changed about every five years. I told him that those were way over five years old and it had always been a noisy garage door. So we had it go up and down then he said new rollers could be put on.
He said that when they do a service call, it’s $95 to come out for Smokey’s and then it would be $10 per roller but since we had already paid our American Home Shield $75 fee, they would waive the $95 and just charge $10 per roller. He said his would be silicone and then there will a lifetime guarantee on them. So I decided to go ahead and do it and the garage door is much quieter now.
However, they could not fix the button because it's not covered by American Home Shield. So he told me that I could take a picture of it and then go on to Amazon and find a similar one. There were these two wires in the back and he told me to unscrew it, change the two wires and have a brand-new garage door opener. I don’t know if the garage door opener was taken out of the coverage. But I always thought it was covered and it’s not covered anymore. But if American Home Shield does change what is covered, that should be in bold in the the first part of our new contract every year.
They’re also hard to get ahold of by phone. Doing everything online is very easy but I had to call them by phone for my air conditioner. I was doing this order by phone and you could punch certain buttons to say certain things. Then something I said triggered the automatic system to send me to a person. But I never had the option to talk to a person. I have also been hearing some bad things about American Home Shield lately so I might investigate other home warranty people. But I've had them for 15 years now and overall, I've been satisfied with them. I have recommended them to several of my coworkers and my son has signed up with them as well.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

I noticed the puddle outside my garage and then I tracked it all the way back to where it was coming through the wall. I thought I had a plumbing leak and a plumber came out. He cut a hole in my wall and he said that it wasn’t a pipeline leak. He thought the drain line in my AC unit was clogged or backed up. It was overflowing out of the condensing unit then flowing down underneath all this and creating water damage and flowing out under my garage outside. When I finally got the AC guy came out, he blew out the line and put a T-unit so I can put bleach in there to keep the algae and stuff like that from clogging the pipeline up later on down the road.
I submitted the claim online because that was the only way I knew how to do it. This was the first time that I have ever done it. I ended up reaching out to the plumbing company right off the bat and got the appointment set up. Then later on, somebody from the place actually called me to set up the appointment. So next time, I’ll just let them contact me. It sounds like it’s an automated system. Once a claim goes in, there are a few points of contact of letting you know that somebody will be reaching out to you the next 24 hours. Then, they’ll reach out to you once they find a company to do it. The communication was either via text or email, where they kept me in the loop of what was going on.
I jumped the gun on calling the company and they came out. I still have to get my initial ticket which was the plumbing guy coming out because he got a hole in my wall which still has to be repaired. So I gotta try and set up some kind of a time. I don’t know how that’s gonna work because it ended up being an AC issue but the original guy that visited was from a plumbing place. So, I just want to get them to fix my wall back to where that it was or at least get it passed back with the other. It’s in my garage, so it’s not like it’s gotta be perfect. I left the hole open till I wanna make sure that the AC issue was resolved but so far, it seems like everything has been corrected. So, no issues there.

We’ve been in this home since 1996 and we’ve kept our American Home Shield active. When talking about repairs in our homes, the first thing I ask people is whether they still have their Home Shield warranty. I always tell them that it’s something that they would wanna keep. Most recently, we had a sink stoppage and I made the call to American Home Shield and then did the scheduling. Everything went well with that.
The technician from JD Drain Tech called us and gave us the time that he would be here then he arrived five minutes earlier than that time. He was quite organized and very professional. He went inside and was able to repair the drain with the roto-rooter. Everything worked out great. He was also very clean and he put protector above the carpet on our floors so my husband was very impressed. The technician was excellent. Everything seems to be working fine now and this has affected our day-to-day life tremendously. When you have a stoppage, you think differently.

One of our air conditioning systems was out and American Home Shield sent CityLine Air Conditioning. They were fantastic. They ordered the part, put it in and it was working again. They seemed to be a good contractor so, give them a gold star. Everything was great. It was one fellow who came out to diagnose the problem and then, another one came out once the part came in. Both were equally competent and nice. 2-10 responded super-quickly, so we couldn't be more pleased. We turned it in online on Saturday and we figured it would be the next week. 2-10 had the contractor come out on Sunday and it was just a few days to get the parts. Then, we were fixed.

A couple of weeks after I moved in, the spring on my garage door broke. I called AHS and they looked into it. The rep whom I spoke with was really efficient. She brought up my policy and told me what AHS couldn't do and she apologized. However, they said that the garage door wasn't covered. I asked how I would know that but then there was a different plan which I could have gotten that covers all garage door openers. Still, mine wasn't on there.
More recently, I submitted another claim online for my AC to get tuned-up. Submitting the claim online was super simple and their site wasn't confusing to use. That time, my AC upstairs wasn't getting cool enough versus my downstairs. Their tech from Air Quality Heating & Air Conditioning checked the refrigerant and made sure the wiring was all good. He gave me a look over. Then, he showed me how to adjust my dampers. He explained how the damping system works and told me to make sure that I change my filters. He checked the filter thereafter and made sure it was good. He was really thorough and I liked him. If someone was in the market for a home warranty, I would recommend AHS. You should double-check all the components that are covered under the plan that you pick and make sure that everything is covered.
I am pleased to hear about your American Home Shield experience and the technicians that have serviced your home repairs.

I've never had a problem thus far with American Home Shield. Recently, the technician who came was not very personable, but he fixed the microwave that stopped heating and that’s all that really matters. I've had other issues a while back on the garbage disposal. It was new and there was something in there that needed to be removed. I didn’t know anything about it so the same guy took care of that.
When I call American Home Shield, I feel like I always get someone who doesn’t speak English very clearly. I was just on the phone with them today because I was wondering if they do maintenance on air conditioning and they don’t. It took me a good 15 minutes to figure out what needed to be done if there is something wrong with it ‘cause it’s getting hot and I figure I’d have it checked.
We had someone come out and check it and I didn’t know if it was covered by my insurance or warranty service. They said it was leaking and I just found that problem, but it seems to be working fine. I called American Home Shield and told them what the situation was. They said they have to bring out a licensed contractor to see what is wrong with it, and according to that diagnosis they will tell me what they will cover. Explaining that to them took like 2 minutes, but it took me forever to figure out what the rep was saying. The language barrier is an issue for me when I call and I don’t know if it was just my luck calling these past two times.

People have slammed American Home Shield but I've been with the company over 20 years and I'm probably not gonna change. They sent Black Dog Mechanical when the AC was not working and they're outstanding. They had to contact the tenant many times then they worked around the tenant not being there and got it fixed. The tenant finally reported that everything is working great. Steve is one of the best service contractors I've had, if not the best. He runs Black Dog Mechanical. He is Black Dog Mechanical. But the HVAC person American Home Shield had before was Quality Comfort and in no way would I want them back if I could have a different choice. Fortunately, I was provided one. But American Home Shield did not have very many contractors in that area for many years so I had to take what I could get.
I also had a very serious problem with the well going out once. I have a property in Mars Hill where three families are serviced by that well. I put it in the request but then they sent me back a service contractor who was HVAC. I do the claim online because it used to be impossible to reach American Home Shield by phone and I think it was a computer glitch. But they must've changed their policy because I can get through by phone now. I called American Home Shield, expecting to wait an hour, but I got somebody right away. The service representative was not the most cooperative in the world though. In fact, I had to finally ask for her manager. She said she would have to call the contractor but it was 7:00 at night. Of course they're not answering. And if she had looked at the screen, she could've seen very easily the well pump people serviced the pump last year.
After asking for her manager twice, she called some other department and they sent me an email confirmation at 8:00 at night. I don't really talk to Ferguson's because I know them and that they would come out at 8:00 at night. So we got it straightened out. But it was only because I know American Home Shield so well and I've worked with them for so long.

We were off American Home Shield for a while but we got back since the early 90's. It’s good when something breaks and it costs me money when it doesn’t. When the door springs of the dishwasher broke, we couldn’t close the door to wash the dishes. The guy who came out was very good. They called and they lined up the appointment within the time frame. The guy was there on time. He was clean cut, well-spoken, got right at it, did the job and did a good job. He was very knowledgeable. Since the repair, there has been a noise in one of the motors because they had to pull it out and put it back in. We only used it once so I don’t know what caused that. It’s a very quiet-running machine and this has never happened before. But when we use it again, then we’ll see if there’s something that came loose.
We are happy to hear that the service exceeded your expectations. Thanks for being a loyal customer!

The only reason we have it is because it was part of our purchase but I'm not renewing. It doesn't really cover much and I still have to pay $75 to get something done, out of pocket, with an additional $150 on top of that. So I really don't see the value. I would tell others not to do it although my experience with American Home Shield was great.

Updated on 06/18/2019: In my earlier review about AHS I detailed the issue which has only continued. AHS has machines pretending to be people responding to complaints on this media, Facebook, etc. They respond via email and on this site that they want to resolve the issue. I sent multiple emails to a ** with no responses. I call the phone number on her email and it forwards you to the same call center in the Philippines, where the people can't or won't transfer you to Darika or anyone else in the USA. They keep reading from the same script stating they have to give the contractor 48 hours to respond before they can dispatch another contractor.
Do the math, it's been almost 30 days, 15 different people in the call center all giving the contractor 48 hours each. This is a never ending loop. The assigned contractor "Summer Breeze Heating and Air, INC" is just as bad. I've called their phone 14 times, half the time the mail box is full, and when you can leave a message they never call back. If anyone out there knows how I can break this cycle please let me know.
Original Review: AMS states a response within 48 hours from a contractor, my response took six days and the contractor was arrived 1:15 min after his original 4 hour window. The contractor stated he needed authorization from AMH to complete the Job and here I am Two weeks later with an incomplete job. I've called the contractor 8 time and the mailbox is full. I've talked with different people in the AMS call center (Philippines, using American names) 7 times, and all they do is read from a script, giving me the runaround.
I was told on May 30, by Rumolo in the call center that they would assign a new contractor if the prior did respond within 24 hours, on June 4 I call back, get a different rep named KC, she has no notes from Rumolo and she states she has to give the contractor 24 hours to respond to her. I then talk to the supervisor named Denzel and he commits to talking with the authorization dept on 6/5 in the morning and calling me back on that Afternoon. It is now June 6, 7:15pm, over three weeks without air conditioning in Atlanta, and no response from the contractor or AHS. As I read the reviews for AHS on Facebook, my experience seems to be normal. We should band together and initiate a lawsuit based on fraudulent representation.

Realizing this was an unnecessary expense, and after reading a thousand scam-alert reviews, I cancelled our monthly AHS subscription on 05/03. Our monthly renewal date was 05/08. I spoke with someone who assured me this would be cancelled, no fees would be charged, and that my credit card would not be charged for May. I was assured that everything was cancelled, there were no cancellation fees, and that my card would be wiped from the system. This morning, one month later, I get an email that says I have a past due cancellation fee on my account (which is coincidentally, the same amount as the monthly fee).
I called and asked why this fee applies. This man says, “You cancelled it prior to your renewal date.” I said, “Of course I did; otherwise, I would’ve gotten charged a monthly fee. To call on the renewal date wouldn’t make sense. My payment would’ve already gone through for another month of service that I don’t want.” He said, “That’s how it goes.” I said, “But that doesn’t make sense. You charge people for an extra month no matter what?” He had the nerve to say yes! I told him I wouldn’t be paying this fee, and asked for a supervisor. He flat out refused I transfer me and said a supervisor will tell me the same thing. I again requested to speak to a supervisor and he just said no, he won’t transfer me. I will absolutely be disputing this charge and will not be paying it. This company is incredibly sketchy.

After being assigned a contractor, I called the contractor numerous times and got no answer. I also left voicemails as the 24 hr mark approached. Very frustrated in receiving no call within 24 hours, I reached out to AHS. The CS rep could barely speak English. Long story short she left a message with the electrical contractor to call me. I explained I have already done that and got no response. I requested a different contractor and she kept repeating, "He will call you."
I then asked for her supervisor, as I am not a happy customer with the lack of service I am receiving from this contractor and I want a new one. She stated her supervisor was unavailable. I again repeated, "I have been without A/C for 1 week now and I need someone at my house before the weekend, today being Thursday." She repeated the same thing, "The contractor will contact you." She asked if she could help with anything else. I said, "You couldn't help me at all," and hung up. Run from they company. Do not walk. If there was zero stars I would give it. It them over one month to fix my plumbing and two plumbers. One month with the water off only to turn it on when I had to shower. Yet they could care less. And after all of the wait they decided they would not cover it and they could not have been more unhelpful with the process if they tried. Have had many houses and have sworn by home warranties but this the first time I have used and will be the last time I use American Home Shield. Horrendous.
The CliffNote version: Had a major leak at the end of April where the with off value to the house was and it was flooding my yard and getting under the house. I called AHS on the 3rd of May. A plumber came out on the 6th. We need to turn the water off from the street of which we needed the city. City came out that Wednesday and the plumber back on Friday. Only to realize they needed to send a different person from the company out. The next week they were suppose to come out and no showed. This went on for weeks. All the while I have been talking with AHS and the plumbing company who then went silent. Last week I after talking with AHS once again they cancelled the original plumber and had a new one come out. The new plumber came out on the 4th. Over one month since I originally called AHS.
Wade's Plumbing. They were great. Highly recommend them. Too bad they are connected with AHS. Wade's calls AHS for authorization from AHS who now declines it. Which I was shocked about because I had talked with them at least five times on my own and the original plumber talked with them (we were on speaker) and they did not tell me it was not authorized. I then said, "Fine I just need my darn water to be on and I will pay for it."
I then asked that If I would get my $75 service call back and they said no. This is the part where I got very unhappy. This entire time along with the very first time I called I explained exactly the issue. If it wasn't cover they should have told me right out of the gate and not only would I have paid for it out of pocket but would have had it fixed in two days, not have it take AHS over a month to try and do the job. Again I had no water which was only doable because I was doing a lot of traveling. Again a horrible company. There is much better companies like First American Home Warranty to go with than this joke of a company.

He tried to figure out the problem and repair with just Freon. There was leakage and he supposedly fixed it. He let me know that if there would be a problem, they’d come back. So far, so good. The AC is working fine right now and it's cooling us well. Overall, AHS has been really pleasant and they are nice to you when they talk.

I had some electrical issues at the house. So, I had major systems go out. Everything that was connected to my 240 amp line was shut down, so my AC went out, dryer went out, and half the power in the house went out. I called American Home Shield because I have an infant child, and so, I wanted to let them know, “Hey, it’s kind of emergent, so the sooner we can get somebody out here, the better.” The lady I spoke with at American Home Shield understood what was going on and how important it was. She placed me on hold and started calling around to contractors to see who could be out here the quickest, and they came back on the line and said, “Hey, I got somebody that will try to get out there tonight, if not first thing in the morning.”
I had called the contractor that night to talk to them, but unfortunately, I didn't get a hold of them that night, but I left a message. And they called me first thing in the morning, talked to me and let me know what was going on. I let them know what was going on with the house, and they told me how soon they’d be able to get somebody out here. They were located about an hour and a half south from where I live. So, they got out here as soon as they could. I think it was the owner of the company that drove up himself. He was really nice. He explained from the beginning what was going on, what he thought the issue might be, and walked with me to do some testing on the electrical system to see what was going on. Once he discovered what the issue was, he walked me through the next steps of what I had to do to take care of it.
The issue ended up not being anything wrong in my house. It actually ended up being the power company’s line that went bad. So, it was only the 240 line that went bad, whereas the 120 line was still good, which is why we had half of our power. So, he walked me through the process of calling the power company, explained to them what happened and what needed to be done for them to come out and take a look and get it resolved. So, he walked me through the process while I was on the phone with them.
The power company, unfortunately, had to come out and do some work on the power line. But they came out the same day within an hour or two after the contractor left and set up a temporary box that they put up to get the power going to the house again. And now, we’re just waiting for the power company to come out and replace the line. When the power blew up, I lost my AC. And here in Southern Virginia, it was a scorcher last week. So, since the power company came out and hooked up the box, and got our AC working, it was amazing.
I’ve referred quite a few people to American Home Shield already just because I’ve used them quite a few times over the years. This is my fourth year with American Home Shield because they’ve been fantastic. A couple of years ago, I’ve had a hot water heater go bad, and they came out and got that fixed. I would absolutely tell anybody to at least call them and talk to them.

I had to have my air conditioner and my dishwasher serviced. The process was easy enough when I made a service request with American Home Shield. The reps were really good and they got right to it. Within a couple of minutes of making the phone call, we had the confirmation in my email along with everything about who was doing the service. Within 24 hours, we had phone calls from both companies that were scheduled to come out and do the work. It was really simple.
The guys showed us exactly what was wrong. 2 Bald Guy was sent out for the dishwasher. The dishwasher's control panel went bad so they swapped out the control board and got that going. The dishwasher part took a little while to get in. But as soon as it did, the technicians came right out and got us fixed up. On the other hand, Ace Plumbing did our air conditioner. That was a simple fix. It was a bad connection so they had to replace a wire in there. Both my units have been great since the repairs. It's been a perfect experience with American Home Shield. In fact, one person in my office signed up with AHS and one is gonna sign up with them.

As I could tell that the house was not cooling off the way it was, I put in a request and the process is very easy online. However, if American Home Shield would have just taken the recommendation from Myers originally, it would have been resolved within a week, very quickly, but they decided to do a different way and it took six weeks and two repairs. The gentleman who assessed the issue said that the whole air handler should be repaired. It went back to American Home Shield that said they're just gonna repair the part in it. When it came to four weeks, I had to call every single day. It took five weeks to get the part and they had to order the entire air handler and take the part out. When the part was repaired, it didn’t work, so Myers had to come back out and the same gentleman as before said the whole air handler needed to be replaced, and then they came out and did that in three days.

The ceiling fan wasn’t doing anything. The light and the fan weren’t coming on. I didn’t know what was wrong so we called American Home Shield. The technician was great. He said I had a surge ‘cause we had a sudden storm and it blew my remote out. He took the ceiling fan and checked to find out where the problem was. He saw it and fixed it. He told me that if I wanted to put a remote back in there, American Home Shield will get back with me. That’s what I thought he was doing but that hasn’t happened yet. Aside from that, the refrigerator guy did a good job. It was leaking and he did something to fix the problem. American Home Shield is the best. I've already been recommending them and telling about them to all my neighbors. If any time I have a problem, they say I'm getting my money’s worth out of American Home Shield.

I bought a 2,600-square-foot home on an acre of property so it's a big house with big responsibilities. To be honest, it's a little stressful. It's a little overwhelming to have a lot. But having people who can help me, direct me and say what I need to do without wanting anything is awesome. The people at American Home Shield genuinely care and to find those people in this world, it's nice.
When you buy a home, everything is perfect until you start switching switches and a fuse blows or things happen. My family room, which is a really large part of the house, completely went out. There are six plugs in there which also connect to various plugs in different rooms in the immediate part of the house, all the way back to the bathrooms. So the plug-ins in all of the bathrooms didn't work along with all the outlets for the outside of the family room. I decided to test and replace everything. But I couldn't figure out what the problem was so I decided to call American Home Shield. I was hoping they would send somebody out that I've worked with before and that I prefer.
If I talk to Home Shield, I request specific people and Home Shield might tell me they would have to send certain guys out. There was a conversation where I said I wasn't happy with a guy's service before. They said I would have to use them but I told them that if they use those people and they show up at my door, I was not opening the door. I told them I would deny the service and go with another service. They said that if I wasn't happy, ultimately, I was gonna have to go with somebody else out then I would send them the invoice and they would replace the money and bill me back minus the $75 service fee. But I told them I didn't wanna have to do that. I asked them to just send me another person that they had used before and that I was happy with.
Naturally, there would always be misunderstandings with any company that you work with. They're not gonna understand if I don't explain it and put my foot down. At some point, they would need to take my word, which they did and that's definitely an important thing. They were like, "You know what? Let us work on something. Let us see if we can pull this person off of the network because you're not happy with them and not use them." That contractor took three days to do a fan job and I had to help that person.
American Home Shield was willing to work with me and I like their ability to be willing to communicate, understand and take my word for it. Ultimately, they sent the right people out and they worked great. We were bonding and talking the whole time, about cars, while the rep was working on things. These are good customer service people whom you could talk to and trust in your home. So I felt really good about that. If I were to start a company, I would go steal their people. I was really happy. It was one of those things where I would ask for a card or a magnet. I would be sticking their magnet on my fridge and make sure they get the job whenever something comes through.
They sent T&N and when the guy came out, he was the same one who worked on an electrical issue prior and I was happy with him. It was the same company and the same person. I thought that was cool. This guy is pretty knowledgeable and can troubleshoot stuff pretty quickly. He's a younger guy and I was hoping he could figure it out. There is an excess of anywhere between 10 and 20 outlets because one outlet can be connected to another and you not know it just because there is a positive, negative or neutral that happens to share that area.
We walked around for an hour, testing various things. In a matter of time and it didn't take very long, he figured exactly where the issue was and was able to compare it with an outside one that shared the same neutral connection. He was basically able to say that before this room was built, there was actually plug in that area. It sounded like he had prior knowledge about the home and the area, which is even more awesome. It was mind-blowing. He replaced a bunch of outlets that maybe had some wear on them that could be a connection to the issue. It was solving those little problems that could make the real problem more complicated. Then he figured out the main one, rewired it and capped some wires off that didn't have any bearing towards the situation and didn't need to be used. And boom, it worked. It involved 20 outlets connecting basically 90% of the entire house and about six lights.
Essentially, it was overly hooked up. There were wires going through the outlet which didn't need to be and had no relevance. So I guess there was an over-surge which ultimately was a reverse polarity. It was basically like taking a positive to a negative so whenever we did a plug-in, there was power to all these outlets and the power wasn't available because there was a reverse polarity due to the neutrals being connected where they shouldn't be. After he fixed everything, I was so thankful. I was offering him drinks. Then that next day, I went out, bought new outside lights to illuminate the outside of my property and redid everything because now, I could.
Good afternoon Joshua,
Thank you for providing us with feedback regarding your experience to have the electrical outlets repaired. American Home Shield strives to provide each homeowner with the best customer experience.

We had issues with the heat where it would turn on and off and wouldn’t stay on. So, we had a contractor from American Home Shield come out and check it, and they fixed the problem. The control for the furnace had to be replaced and they replaced it in a timely manner. Submitting the claim with American Home Shield was an easy process. It was easy to get this particular service done with them. I have them for my two properties. I’ve called them about twice and they’re coming in at their third time for my other property. They did not do as well with my other service call. I had some plumbing issues and the company that they hired took about 45 days to come back and resolve it. And not only did they take over 45 days, that company put in their system that it was resolved. They never sent a diagnosis to American Home Shield. I had to call them as well as American Home Shield.
Initially, when I called that company, they said they were ordering the parts and will get it done in a week, but over 40 days passed and nothing was done, and I had to follow-up. AHS shouldn’t have that company on their contract because their reviews on Google are terrible. And I had a very bad experience with them and if other customers are giving them, on average, 2 stars, that means they’re not a reliable company to be doing business with. AHS should choose better service providers or people who provide good service. Even though that one service call didn’t go well, AHS is still a good company.

But I finally did, and I paid my $75, and shortly thereafter, MS Appliance called and we worked out a date. The tech came out and looked at the dryer. I had a leak and my sump pump didn’t work. I filed a claim over the phone with AHS because I had to explain the problem. It started out kinda rough because the person they sent the work order to no longer covers my area and nobody called me to tell me that. So, I waited and waited and I found out about it after several days. I called that company and they wouldn’t return my calls. But they said that they called American Home Shield and American Home Shield should’ve called me. And all the while, I had a sump pump that didn't work that could’ve flooded my whole house.
Once I got back to American Home Shield, I told them that that company no longer services my area. So then they wanted to send me another plumber, Stallion Plumbing, whose tech I would not let in my house because they sent me him before and he never fixed the leak. All that their tech would do is waste my time. He was literally walking out the door while the thing was still leaking. He said it’d stop but it never did. And if you look online and on Yelp, the guy gets zero stars. That’s how bad he is.
So, we went around and around then AHS sent me the last guy from Property Guardian. He was outstanding and amazing. I would recommend him to my family. He was that good and he was timely. If he said he was gonna arrive at a certain time, he was on the button. He was also very unassuming and just got to work. He looked at the sump pump and said that it was an electrical thing. He said that the electrician has to repair the electrical then he would come out and check the pump. So, another company came out and did the electrical. They were very mediocre.
After, the tech from Property Guardian came back and fixed my sump pump. It was the third time and he fixed the leak that nobody else could. And the sump pump has been working fine since then. Also, when he told me that he'd have to send the work in to see if my home warranty company would pay for it, I told him that I had AHS and he was just effusive. He had a good experience with them and he said that AHS is great. He said that they would take care of me, and that I shouldn't worry. And he mentioned some other home warranties that wouldn’t pay for anything.

I contacted American Home Shield because I thought my air conditioning unit was loud and the house was not cooling. I wanted to make sure that there wasn’t anything wrong with it. And so, I had an appointment schedule with them on Monday, June 3rd. Friday, May 31st, I went into the guest bathroom and heard a drip and it was coming from the ceiling. The overflow pan in the attic had overflowed and was dripping through the guest bathroom.
So, I called the AC company immediately. They answered the phone at 6:30 in the morning, and I asked if they are able to come out that day. They said, “Absolutely.” And so, they did. And the tech that they sent was absolutely fantastic. Not only did he fix the leak, he made it so that it wouldn’t happen again. Apparently, whoever put in the unit in the attic didn’t put in a T-bar for the overflow pan. They put in a straight line so it didn’t work. So, he corrected the problem.
I contacted my insurance company, and they sent somebody out to put an assessment on the claim. He said that the tech for the AC company did an excellent job on the repair. He said that was probably the best he’d ever seen. And so, that really said something to me because they were totally unrelated companies. I'm very, very pleased with that experience.

My dryer would say “drying” and would just click when you turned it on to dry anything, but it wasn’t turning. It also needed a new belt. I submitted a claim online with AHS and their website was very user-friendly. But if you use the text, they were prompt and reached out to the company. Also, American Home Shield is doing a very good job on their end. It’s just that some of the companies that they’re using may not be as responsive as American Home Shield. But the tech who came out for my dryer diagnosed the problem and installed the new belt within 20 minutes. That company was great.
Yesterday, I submitted another claim online for my AC and it was a horror story. After I submitted my request for service, I followed up with a call to the company that they assigned to me on 5/29. They said someone would be calling me back within two hours but I waited two hours and heard nothing. I called a couple more times and got the same thing. On 5/30, they finally showed up at 8:20 in the evening. They said they fixed the problem but they didn’t have enough coolant so they would come back the next day. That was Thursday night. On Friday, they didn’t show up, so I called them first thing Monday morning. I spoke with John and he said he’d be out that afternoon. He again came at 8:30 that night and at the time, I still had AC. Then, he went out to put more coolant in the AC. He worked for over an hour and when he came back in, he said some valve wasn’t working, so he was gonna have to order a valve.
I asked him if I still had AC and he said no. Then, they were approved by American Home Shield for the valve and I paid for the additional coolant that apparently leaked out when they put the valve in and have to redo the coolant. At that point, it was hot in our house and I couldn't get anyone to call me back from this company to let me know even when they were coming.
I also made a phone call to AHS on 6/4 and I spoke with someone. It sounded like they may have been one of those service centers in India and I asked to speak to a supervisor because the rep I got wasn’t answering my questions. I was on hold for 46 minutes and finally I gave up. It was one of their message centers having disgruntled people give up and hang up. But I got a very good response when I texted them. So, I’d recommend people to use the text just because I'm not sure if their call centers are as knowledgeable.
I also recommended AHS to my son when he bought his house and he got their warranty. He also had the same issue with his AC and it took him over three months to get a company. He had to give up on the first company and they had to send someone else because there was no response. Overall, in the four and a half years that I've had AHS, their service has been very good. They give me peace of mind and I pay a small amount per month for that peace of mind which I'd rather do than having to put this huge amount out for major appliances or an AC unit.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

Whether I call in my claim or use American Home Shield's online system, they're always fast. I get a response from a contractor within a few hours. The last couple of times that I had a claim, everyone that came out were able to identify the issue. But when we had an issue this winter with our AC unit, the contractor sort of misdiagnosed it. I had to have someone else come out who was outside of Home Shield to address the issue. But other than that, I rarely had any issues. We recently had a pipe that was clogged in the kitchen sink. The tech ended up having to use his 100-foot snake to clear it out. He had to rebuilt the trap area underneath the sink because the pipes were old and some of the old rings were damaged in the process of removing it to get the snake in there.
We've used American Home Shield for a really long time, and we've been happy with their service for all these years. I've recommended co-workers and other folks that have older homes to look at Home Shield or a home warranty system because of the issue that we had with the pipes that we got addressed last week. We had an issue with the freezer within the same time, so it was just a lot easier using Home Shield than having to research and wait. They're always responsive, so I've recommended them in the past.

There has been some frustrations regarding our recent claims with American Home Shield. It is working, but it’s been typically a lot of time on hold, and it feels like there are a lot of extra phone calls and extra processes to try and figure things out. The representatives that have the Indian accent are a little hard to understand and I couldn’t get some straight answers about our plan. American Home Shield also double charged me on the rekey thing. Apparently, somebody had canceled the order because they couldn’t find somebody in my area and therefore, it voided the $75 I had already paid, and they didn’t tell me that. They opened up another ticket, and they were saying that I owed the money I had already paid.
The resolution definitely has taken a while and I’m not even sure it’s resolved yet. The person that I talked to in the US was more helpful. She was pretty good. She was wonderful about sending my contract to me ‘cause I said, “I can't get a person to tell me what’s covered. Could you just email me the contract?” But, again, she put me on hold for a supervisor and it was over 20 minutes. It was never fully resolved. One contractor also mentioned being frustrated with being on hold for about two hours with American Home Shield. He was frustrated with trying to get the warranty to cover things. Maybe now that he’s set up, it won’t be a problem.
We also had water leaking in the house. I was talking to somebody and I said, “I need somebody here today. Can you find out if there’s anybody available in our area?” That whole process took a ridiculously long amount of time. It’s been hit and miss with American Home Shield. It has not been a great experience but there are some good things too. The contractors have been pretty good. The reps are most polite on the phone even if they don’t fully understand. It’s just been kind of confusing to find out what’s covered and what’s not. We bought the complete plan so I thought it would be a little more straightforward. The good news is they are covering the things we need covered so I think that’s gonna work out. We have a few more issues I need to ask them about if they’re covered and I'm hoping I won't be on hold forever.

DO NOT USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. My dryer went out 7 days ago, so I contacted AHS to request service. I paid the $82 fee and was emailed saying Ralph’s Plumbing and More would be contacting me within 24 hours to set up an appointment. Over 24 hours later I had not heard from Ralph’s, so I called them myself. The sweet woman who I spoke to informed me that their office was over 2 hours away from my house, so they couldn’t service my dryer! We both didn’t understand why AHS would dispatch them knowing where we were both located!!! Fast forward to the next day. I call AHS to get someone else dispatched (because a representative had not contacted me at all) and I get set up with an appointment for Sears on June 5 from 1 - 5 pm. Great!
June 5 gets here (today) and my wife took off the entire day to be able to meet the technician at our house. Around 2:30 I get an email saying the technician is on his way! Great! I get off work at 4:00 and go home to find out that he still hasn’t made it to my house. I had already gotten an email asking me to rate his service and saying the service had been successfully completed, so I’m confused! I call Sears and they tell me the technician tried to reach me multiple times unsuccessfully, so he just didn’t show up. They had some RANDOM phone number on file that was not mine or anyone else’s that I know. They say there is nothing they can do, despite my extremely angry rant. DONE with Sears.
Next I call AHS. I explain the situation and again I am told nothing can be done today. Mind you, I’ve already paid $82 for this repair and my wife lost $100 of pay by taking off to meet the technician at home. I am FURIOUS at this point. Now I’m being told we will have to take ANOTHER day off work (but nobody can tell me what day because a technician isn’t available for another WEEK) to get the dryer fixed!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. DO NOT USE AHS. EVER. By the way, I typed this entire review while I am sitting on hold with a representative trying to get a refund for this HORRIBLE service. I have been on hold for 25 minutes!!! This phone call has lasted 1 hour and 24 minutes a far!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE.

Our central AC unit went out the Friday before Memorial Day. They recently had someone come out and "fix" it, September 2018. Which we believe it wasn't really fixed because two weeks after that we had to turn on our heat for the winter. We just turned on our A/C for the summer and it hasn't worked. We called and let them know as we were on vacation, May 24th. We were told that someone would be at our house on Tuesday (May 28th) to look at our AC unit. Tuesday comes around and we take off work because the supervisor we talked to on the 24th told us someone would come in between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. 3:00pm comes around and no one called or showed up to our house. I then called them around 3:30pm and ask them if someone still coming. They told me no even though my fiancee took a day off work. So we lost a days pay.
They said that the supervisor we talked to shouldn't have told us someone would come out that following Tuesday. They also said they would investigate the call and never did. I told them from the beginning that we have a three month old and a two year old that has asthma. We also told them from the beginning we are foster parents and we could get in serious trouble if our house stays too hot. Our house was 86° at 7 p.m. when we got home from vacation (May 27th). We were then told someone wouldn't come out until next Monday (June 3rd). Which means that we would have to wait a whole week with no kind of cool air.
I finally got them to agree to let me use an outside company. I had the company come out the same day and look at our AC unit. They diagnosed the problem and said they would find the three parts for AC unit. The companies said that our AC unit is over 20 years old and when they trying to find the parts they were not able to find them because they're not made anymore. I have called American Home Shield almost everyday since that Monday and have been on hold around an hour before I'm even able to talk to anyone. Once I told them that the whole AC unit needed to be replaced they told me that the price was too much. American Home Shield never called me and told me that they needed a second opinion until I called them and waited an hour for them to tell me. American Home Shield then said we didn't qualify for a window unit even though it has been over 94 degrees outside and 86 degrees in our home constantly.
They have been giving me the go around since May 24th. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau. Their motto is "We'll help guide you to the right home warranty plan with AC coverage for your needs. Then, next time the air goes out, you won't be stressed about the hassle and expense of the repair. Our qualified, professional service contractors will diagnose, repair or replace your HVAC unit as your contract stipulates." They haven't done any of this! In fact, they have added more stress on top of our already stressful life. After this is all said and done they will lose a great customer! Beware of all the hassles and hourly holds they will put you on just to talk to you for 2 minutes. I have basically just been giving money away to a company that does not want to help! They just waste your time and money. They don’t care about you or our family!

Submitted a claim for a leaking furnace. Completed the claim form through the website and someone came out within 24 hours. I was pleased at how prompt everything was. The trouble started once I submitted the claim for reimbursement. I paid the contractor and the money was being sent to me (I chose to work with a different company then the one that was sent out — this was approved by the company). I have now waited 2 months for the refund. Every time I call to check on the process, everyone plays dumb and I have to explain everything for square one. I get transferred around and then just told to “wait”. If I ask for numbers/direct lines I’m told they don’t have direct Phone lines. Complete waste of time. I’ve yet to receive a refund — stay away from this Company, the aggravation isn’t worth it. [I only provided 1 star because the star rating is required.]

The water was still in there. Had to take clothes out and wring it out bring to a laundromat and I dried them there too. I made an appt With AHS online, paid with my credit card for the service charge for a date convenient for me. He came fixed the problem. Thought it was the motor. He had to drain the machine first. A vendor was contracted and sent to our home to identify the problem. The problem was identified and we were subsequently told the part was ordered. Our warranty account indicated the part was ordered May 14th. After receiving zero correspondence from both companies I began trying to get answers. After approximately 6 phone calls to both the warranty company and heating and cooling company, it is now June 5th and we are still without answers from either company and without air conditioning. Highly frustrating, especially in the Texas heat. It is hotter than Hades in our house. I feel deceived and duped by this company. I have been a customer for more than 10 years. We have had our air conditioner break down 2 summers in a row in mid May. Last summer it took 3 weeks to fix. We are going on 3 weeks now getting the replacement part to the repair shop, and a follow up appt. to have the technician fix the problem. Why in the world would you only have one company to work with warranty items in a 50 mile radius. Customer service puts the blame on the repair co. While the repair company puts it on the warranty service. AND it’s costing us $800.00 out of pocket for the freon! What $ did I save having a warranty co? I am very displeased with customer service. Will not recommend this co. to anyone I know.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

This began back in April. American Home Shield had a special for a $75 AC check up. We had no problems before then. By the time Myers AC Heating and Plumbing finished, we paid out $1240.00 for repairs supposedly not covered by our home warranty. First of all the first technician did not do a good job as he missed that our breaker was bad. Before the second technicians came out, we got a second opinion so we waited a week to make an appointment. It was still cool during that time. The second 2 technicians came out that did the shabby work. They left things dirty also. The system ran for a while then eventually stopped.
The 3rd technician came out and stated that we had a Freon leak. We supposedly had 10lbs placed in the system although our second opinion guy said it only held 7lbs. Odd. We had to wait 1 week and 1 day for the 4th technician to come out and state the the parts to inside and outside units were wrong. He also told us about the breaker box and other things wrong. His name was Brendan a master installer. We were thankful for him and only wanted him to do the work.
We waited another 5 days for him to come out on Tuesday 06/04/19 between 2 and 5 pm. Guess what, he never showed, at 9 pm we called their service center. Now they claim it will be Thursday. The technician kept pushing the time back and not being upfront with us. I am beyond angry and frustrated. We have been taking off from work losing hours waiting on this company to finish the job. We are in 98 degree weather in Mobile. Our house is >92 degrees the past couple of weeks. we are waking up with cramps in our legs. Please help us in Mobile, AL. I am seeking legal council at this point- Mrs. **

The contractor that American Home Shield sent out was great. Our microwave had caught fire for the second time and they came out. Within five minutes, he determined it was unsafe. He said he wasn't fixing it. They were gonna get it replaced, which I'm happy about because even if they were going to repair it, I wouldn't wanna use it anymore. So so far, that's great. They contacted American Home Shield and put in a claim. Then I got an email indicating that I needed to pick out the replacement but they didn't give me a very detailed description of how to take measurements of a microwave. I didn't know I had to measure from the back of the microwave to the handle and I don't know who would know to do that.
I had to have a conversation with a customer service representative who didn't speak very clear English on the phone. That was very frustrating because she wanted to put me in touch with someone to finish up my claim. But we didn't need to finish up anything. I told her that we got an email telling us to make a selection and that I needed to understand how I would do that. But she didn't get it. I probably spent 45 minutes getting aggravated with her and ended up calling back the next day. I spoke to somebody that spoke proper English then and got everything moving along. While all this was happening, I received an invoice for an increase in my monthly rate, which I'm a little discouraged about because I have not used them that much over the past couple of years. All in all, my experience with American Home Shield is okay but it's not the best. They could do a lot better.

We call American Home Shield for our claims and they try to get somebody out here that's available as soon as possible. But the turnaround time is usually a couple of days. The technicians were very professional. We filed a claim when the lights kept going on and off, and then one of the circuit breakers’ outlets keep popping out. The tech told us to make sure we have LED light bulbs in there, and then he changed the socket with the circuit breaker. So far, everything seems to be fine.
Your feedback is more than appreciated. We are glad to hear about your experience and the repairs that are complete.

Something was wrong with our dishwasher. As a matter of fact, we had it repaired several weeks ago and it went bad again. We submitted a claim over the phone with AHS and we had to wait a little bit because when you call, you have to wait until you’re the next person in the queue. But other than that, it was good and they solved my problem. They got a repair person, made an appointment, and got the thing done. But it took two visits to get the thing rectified.
The first guy that came out wasn’t a very good mechanic. But we called Home Shield and the same company sent another representative. This second guy was good and he knew the problem right away. It was with some kind of a module in the motherboard or in the electronics. He knew his thing and went right to work. He was really quick about it, too. He was also clean and did the job efficiently. And so far, the dishwasher has been working, so hopefully, it’ll remain that way. A month before that, we had a different thing for our wall oven and the mechanic who came out for that was very good as well. He solved my problem right away. All in all, I have no problem with the claims process of AHS. In fact, my sister became a member of American Home Shield through us.

American Home Shield sent IDR Plumbing and Sewer Service to us. The claim went perfectly easy. They informed us as to when the service person would be there and he came on time. That particular experience with the water heater was very excellent. Currently we're working on my dishwasher replacement. I wasn't informed when they were going to deliver it. The installer said the plumbing was bad. Whenever we turned the water on, we had no idea that the plumbing was bad. Now, the unit is a little bit part of the norm from the sink, so I can see why he thought I might need more tubing or something. But there's a whole other plumbing there.
They told me to call and have the dishwasher redelivered, so I had to get back with them. I called the delivery place and they said, "Oh, no. You have to talk to GE." So I called GE and they said, "Oh, no. You have to talk to Home Shield." I was on hold an hour and a half, trying to get to settle with Home Shield. So I'm not happy with that. I still have to figure out how to get the unit delivered and get a contractor to install it. Right now, it's not a fun experience, specifically with the waiting time being on hold. And it was not the first time I was on hold for an hour with them. That system sucks. That shouldn't be an hour, being transferred, and there was another transfer which is also extra time. That part of their operations is terrible.

I told him that the pump was right there on the other side of the fence from the pool and there were no locks. He handled everything while I wasn’t even there. He called and gave me a pretty informative explanation of what he did and what was actually wrong with it, and went on about his business. He put a new pump motor on it and my pool’s working great. I had my heating system serviced by one service, but when I had a problem with it, they sent someone else out, and I liked them much better. And so, I changed the monthly assessment that I have for cleaning them to spring and the fall. Recently, my shower drain was clogged up. The guy from Rapp’s came and he unclogged it with a plumber. I've had them for 20 years and last year, they doubled my rates because I filed a lot of claims. If they would fix the stuff when they'd come, filing a claim wouldn't be needed. They send different vendors each time, and you start all over again instead of the same vendor coming, which requires you to go through their process all over again.

It’s almost a year that I’ve been with American Home Shield and I've never had to submit a claim until now. My garbage disposal went out so, they sent a plumbing company. The gentleman went under my sink for two minutes, came back up, turned it on and said that the garbage disposal was fine and it had to be electrical. He said that he was going to transfer it to electrical and that way I didn’t have to pay another deductible. I said that was fine. I've missed work already for the contractor because they give you a time frame. The electrical came out and I missed work again. They checked the light switch and even went to my garage and checked where you switch it off and on. They said that it was where the electricity was coming off. Then he even proceeded to go underneath the sink. He asked if plumbing was out here because my garbage disposal was bad.
He did whatever he had to do and told me that AHS cannot transfer it back over to plumbing. I’m gonna miss work tomorrow from 9 AM to 1. It hasn’t been repaired yet and now, they’re sending the same plumbing company that said it was not the garbage disposal. I will wait and see what they will say tomorrow. I'm assuming they’re gonna go ahead and either fix the garbage disposal or install a new one, and then I'm hoping that it’s gonna work. It has been very inconvenient. I don’t know if it’s the same gentleman. It’s a garbage disposal and it should be fairly easy to detect if a garbage disposal is not good or not. I pay AHS every month automatically, no ifs nor buts about it, and I expect the same. I don’t know what company they are dealing with and if they’re competent companies. Giving their paying customer the runaround like this and the back-and-forth is not professional. I'm not happy.

AHS has been great. They sent out ASAP Plumbing for my toilet that was clogged. Normally, I could unclog it and I could not. And I noticed that when I couldn’t unclog it, the water started leaking from the base of the toilet. So, I let it leak out, cleaned it up, and then we decided to stop using it until somebody could come out. ASAP was able to come out quickly. And they snaked it, they found the clog, they checked in the front of the home as well that the drain was in fact cleared, and then they reset the toilet and resealed it. So, I haven’t had any trouble since.
I filed my claim through AHS’s website and the process was super easy. The turnaround time for this specific claim was quick. Within 24 hours, they had me scheduled. Other claims have not been as great. There was an air conditioning company that I used and the turnaround was three to four days. I had reoccurring problems with my AC. It’s now taken care of, but that was a little bit of a lengthier process.
Other than that, the technicians have been great. I’ve no concern with the techs. We did have one tech through the air conditioning company that I was a little apprehensive about. Him and the gentleman that both came were arguing and yelling about how to fix the problem in Spanish. I speak Spanish, so we were very aware of what they were saying, which made me a little nervous because I was wondering if they knew what they were doing based off of what they were saying.
I even called AHS and said, “What do I do? It’s Friday evening. They’re not done. They don’t sound like they know what they’re doing. If something happens tomorrow and I have no AC, what do I do?” AHS was good about calming me and reassuring me that if something would go wrong on the weekend, I could call AHS back. They would handle it. Luckily, there was no problem but I was a little nervous. They were a little sketchy, but all the other gentlemen that have come to the house have been great.

My refrigerator was dripping and it was freezing in the drawers of the refrigerator. The ice maker wasn't working properly either. I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield and their rep helped me. She provided very good customer service, got me a contractor's number and said that someone would be calling me. Thereafter, National Platinum Service's tech came. He said that the drain was stopped up. He fixed that and put a new ice maker in. Things have been running great ever since. Thus far, I've had several claims over the past five or six years and I've always had a good experience with AHS.

The AC wasn’t working and submitting a claim to American Home Shield was very simple. I normally do it online. The contractor, United Air, was there in a day and their work was perfectly fine. Somebody from their ship comes out once a year to get my AC working. It’s a beat-up old air conditioning system. They replace a little part here or there.

American Home Shield sent A Plus Appliance for our washing machine. It was leaking out from the bottom. It was a Maytag Epic Z. There was a refrigerator that has an ongoing problem and they can't seem to fix it. So, they chiseled ice out of it the last time they were here, and they said they'd bring a part. They came and fixed the part. Two weeks later, it's leaking again. So, they're supposed to replace it because they can't fix it. So, the guy comes in. He looks at both of the things. He said, "I'll write a report on both of them."
My daughter tried to fix the seal in the washing machine because she thought it was this rubber seal that seals the front loader. But it wasn't. So, she took the front off washing machine and was looking to see where it could be leaking out. She ran a load and found out where the leak was at. So, instead of putting the washer together, she has to do laundry because she has a cleaning service. She has to use the washer everyday because she was laying down the towels, but the towels are right by the electrical wires. So, it'd be stupid for her to put it together and she discontinued to use the washer. So, when they came out to look at the washing machine, they automatically just said, "We'll write a report on it." The report says that the washer was disassembled. The front casing was took off of it. It was still functional. It's just that it was leaking.
I've been happy with American Home Shield. They've been excellent. I'd refer them to anybody. But under these two circumstances that I'm dealing with right now, it's highly unfair that they would deny it. I spoke to them yesterday and they sent me out Sears today to do a second opinion. And I told my daughter to put the front on the washing machine and we'll hope that they'd fix it. They have replaced a double oven and my fridge. They've replaced a stovetop, too. They have done their part. And it's one of the best things that we could have.

Anytime I had a problem with air-conditioning or heating, I would prefer that it would be Seabolt that would be sent. They're always on time. The contractor came before I even expected him and did a great job. And then the AC was fixed. I have an elderly mother who lives with us so everything worked out great. Also, I like being able to file my claim with AHS online so I don't have to sit on the phone and wait for a person. I get a response quickly.

American Home Shield is different now than it used to be when I first bought them many years ago. I’ve been with them for 20 years or more now. When we used to call in for repair, we would normally get calls from contractors right away and get scheduled right away. But it seems like now, that’s not the process of the contractors. It takes much longer to get repairs.
My most recent claim was with the AC. The first call that went out, I went through an AC company. It was Memorial Day weekend so understandably, the delay in them coming was typical. When I did talk to them, they did have 400 calls between my call and other calls that came in. But when they did come, Israel, the tech, did a great job checking the inside unit. When he went outside, it was determined not to be the AC but an electrical issue so we were referred to an electrician. The electrician company that was assigned called about two days later, and the soonest they could get was another five days out. I asked if there was anything they could do sooner because I don’t have AC because of the electrical issue. He said no and that would be the soonest they could come.
I was under the impression that I had an appointment this past Tuesday. I did not receive a call and no one showed up. So, at 5:00 o’clock, I called American Home Shield. I told them I was scheduled for a contractor to come out. I’ve already waited five days and nothing. I was reassigned another electrician company and it was after 5:00 so their office was closed. I called them that night and left a message. I asked if they could please try to come the next day because I don't have air, and it is hot. They did call me and we talked yesterday. They’re having someone come today. My fingers are crossed that they will be here today.
This is two weeks now without AC. This has been tough. Luckily, it is cloudy today, but we’re looking at triple digits starting this weekend. Everything is hot upstairs - the bedrooms and bathrooms. We’ve been sleeping downstairs on the couch. It is terrible but I’ve never seen it happen like this. We used to call American Home Shield and there was no four, five-day wait. That's the worst part about the program now. Luckily for me, I don’t have that many calls and I would still recommend American Home Shield.

As the cold season was ending, the heater started being really noisy. And we kind of put off putting a claim a little bit because we thought it must just be nothing. And then we had a warm spell and back to a cold spell, and then when we hadn't had it on, we knew we need to have it looked at even though we won’t be using it for a few months. We put in the claim Friday night and they called us Saturday morning to schedule a day. The company that’s coming out to repair called and scheduled our appointment.
When AHS sent the guy out something was going on with the fan. It was wobbling as it was spinning, making all that noise, and it needed a part in there so it would spin the right way. They fixed it and switched it on just to make sure it was running right. It’s usually pretty simple to file a request with AHS. I log into my online account. I click submit a request for service, and then I just check what thing needs serviced. And then pretty quick, they send us a message saying that they got our request and what company will be contacting us to send somebody out to work on whatever it is we put a request in for.

I've had pretty good success with American Home Shield. For the most part, they've been very responsive and timely. With any issues I had, they were very good about contacting the contractors and making sure that I get the service that I deserve or requested. I had one incident with one vendor where I wasn't happy with what they did and in terms of their follow-up. When I called American Home Shield, they were on it and they got me somebody else. Another technician came from the same contractor and he was excellent.
Recently, I had one sink that was totally stopped up and the other one was slow. Joy Plumbing came out within 24 hours of my request and they were great. What impressed me was the technician's professionalism, timeliness and work ethic. He was also very knowledgeable about telling me how to prevent this from happening going forward. I would and have recommended American Home Shield to other people.

The faucet broke and the water was pouring full-force. The tub couldn’t keep up and it was about to overflow so we had to turn off the water on the main. At first, I did the claim online and the website was great. The thing was, American Home Shield didn't have a contractor to respond. I called the first contractor because I can’t live without water and asked when were they coming. It was a Friday and they said they couldn't come out till Monday. It's very difficult to live without water for that long.
I called American Home Shield and asked if there was anything they could do. The person I spoke with said she was going to find me someone and that she had left them a message saying I wanted them to come out that day. I called the second contractor after some time, and it took me a while to get in touch with them. They said they couldn't come that day and they would be coming out Monday.
So then, I called American Home Shield again and it took a while to get in touch with them. I had to be on hold before they came on. But once they were on, they were very, very helpful. I explained, and the guy said, “Yes, I’ll try.” He was so nice and he made me wait 5 or 10 minutes. He called people and found Quick Service to help out on the same day. They were a real nice company too. It’s not just anybody. So, I was really appreciative. I’m very happy with Quick Service. When I called them to confirm the appointment, they asked if I could send them a picture of the faucet. I did and they knew what was wrong. They could see the name of the faucet so they brought the right part.
My neighbor had the same issue and his plumber didn’t bring the right part so he had to wait three days. On the other hand, these people came with the right part and technician fixed the whole thing in about 10 minutes. There was cartridge inside that was broken, and he said that that’s what happens if that cartridge gets broken inside. He replaced it. He was excellent.
I was really impressed with American Home Shield. I got better service than if I would have had to call a plumber by myself. But it would have been great if on the internet, there was any way of asking if they could expedite the claim making sure that I had someone coming out that day. Also, another incident happened yesterday and I’m not happy with that company that was sent. I wasted my $125.

American Home Shield would not honor a commitment listed on the front page of their own website! When my home AC coil developed a leak, they agreed to replace it... provided I purchase several pounds of old R22 refrigerant at nearly $100/lb! When I asked about retrofitting to use a newer refrigerant (at a much cheaper cost) they flat out refused. When I asked to speak to a manager, again, they simply refused. Even after pointing out that the front page of their own website recommended customers ask about retrofitting in just such a situation, they flat out refused to do anything.
Customer service issues are obviously wide spread. After speaking with several different customer service representatives, I encountered general rudeness, misinformation, flat out refusals to escalate, and overall unprofessionalism. The experience is akin to talking to a scammer...and that is the general impression I got from this company as a whole. A complete scam!

We used our AHS home warranty a few times prior to our most recent experience regarding a plumbing issue. We felt neutrally about these visits prior (long hold times to schedule service and little annoyances like the plumber putting the faucet knobs on backwards, the contractors were able to fix the issues in one or two visits) but it was their inability to service our plumbing emergency and their back and forth communication which ultimately resulted in us cancelling their services.
Our pipes burst during a polar vortex and we called to schedule someone to shut the water off (no known shut off valve) and repair the pipe. We waited on hold to talk to someone, you can generally expect to wait 30-45 minutes to reach a representative. When we spoke to someone we were informed someone would call us back within 4 hours. After several hours, my husband called AHS again. AHS dispatched the contractor who called us and informed us that they wouldn’t be available until 3 days later. My husband contacted an independent plumber to turn off the water at this point. I called AHS again and the rep walked me through the process of what they call an external authorization request.
I spoke to a representative who stated we would need to contact the authorization department for an authorization and reference number before any work was performed and these would need to be included on the invoice. She noted the service fee would apply which was fine. I spoke with the authorization department who provided a contract number and a dispatch number. I asked about who would provide the authorization and reference numbers and he said I just need to email the provided email address with the numbers he provided. Thinking we were good to go, we emailed the invoice as instructed with the numbers we were provided after the repair was done. Here’s where we started getting the back and forth from AHS.
I called several times to check on the reimbursement status and see if there was anything else they needed. Some representatives said they hadn’t received the invoice, some said they are looking into it, and others stated they needed to talk to the plumber. We resubmitted the receipt and had the plumber call. Some time later, I called a last time to check on the status and a representative stated they would be sending us a letter. We received the letter which stated that they denied the reimbursement because they didn’t talk to the plumber prior to the work being performed. We were surprised because this was different than what the rep told us on the phone when we called about the external authorization request.
We had the authorization numbers they gave us prior to the work being done. AHS was not able to provide a contractor in a timely manner in this situation and misled us on the process for an external repair. We ate the cost of the repair and as a result cancelled our home warranty. This experience was the last straw with AHS and we found that a home warranty is not worth it for our situation. We will be working directly through trusted contractors in the future. I hope this review helps home owners evaluate their need for a home warranty and cautions them in working with AHS in more emergent situations.

After having good experience with American Shield in the past I have noticed a definite decrease in customer service. After numerous attempts to contact someone, anyone, in customer service and being directed to the website, I was finally connected with a rep. Language barrier prevented me from communicating, but I was finally made my self understood. I was calling about a service call that the company providing the service also had left without completing the repair. I was told that I would have to call the company to determine when the repair would be completed. I told the rep that the company never answers their phone, either. They were unhelpful, refusing to call the company for me. Thanks AHS.
Paul,

Put in a $75 service request for an electrical problem. I should have known this was a scam by the fact that they take your money before they even have someone set up to do the work. They said they will hire someone in our area and that electrician will contact us within a couple days. We waited a week, no one contacted us, no one was assigned, so we decided to cancel the service and get our $75 refund. We filed for the refund on 3/18/19 and were told it takes 14-21 business days to receive it. I don't care how big the company is, for a waiting period that long to complete putting money back where you took it from is ridiculous (this was the second sign of the scam).
We waited 21 business days, no refund, so we called AHS customer service on 4/15/19. They read me a scripted line of "We can see you have a refund of $75 and are not sure why it hasn't been processed yet. Let me cancel that and put a new request in for you." We told them not to cancel it because we already did the waiting and wanted answers to why no progress was being made. They said "I don't know, all we can do is resubmit the request and contact our escalation department to fast track this request". So how long is fast tracking? Another 14-21 business days.
So we waited ANOTHER 21 business days (over 2 months total) for someone at AHS to do 1 hour's worth of work MAX. We called again on 5-28-19 after another failed attempt. We explained the entire situation with the customer service and you will never guess what "the only thing I can do on my end is cancel this request and submit another one". We were unbelievable mad and figured they were trying to have us just give up on it. We asked to speak with the accounting department, escalation department, and a manager. We asked to be copied on the email conversations they had with these departments. We were told to all of these that they cannot do that because "company policy". We asked what would be different for this submission compared to the first two and they replied "You will just have to trust me". Absolute scam. Still no refund. It has become personal. I'm not going to give up on this. 100% avoid this confirmed scam.
Anthony,

Waited 12 minutes (!!!) on the line just to get a representative. Upon checking he said that it takes a month to activate the account and even then another 10 days to process. I said what if I have a problem now. His genius answer was- "We don't insure broken appliances...." Make a long story short- horrible service, as I experienced while I was renting a unit and my landlord had their insurance. You wait for hours every time when you need to order a repair. They will not let you cancel! We spent over two days trying to talk to someone. We were either left on hold or hung up on. As I write this I am once again sitting on hold trying to talk to someone as my previous call was disconnected. They kept asking me if I was sure I wanted to cancel...YES!!! I don't live at that address anymore!!! WOW. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. We had automatic bill pay set up and instead of cancelling as they were suppose to they billed us! We turned off the automatic payment but trying to get this straightened out and our policy canceled has proven impossible.

I wish that I had read more reviews before buying this home service. I was trying to get my washer repaired and was told that I could either get cash in lieu or wait for part. I opted to wait for part. 6 weeks l was still waiting for part. I was then told that I could still get cash in lieu if I purchased a washer and provided proof of purchase. So I did. But when I called the company, I was told that part had been received weeks ago. No one ever called me.
So now I am expected to cancel the purchase and pay any nonrefundable charges and also since part is available, I can no longer get the cash in lieu. Seems one department has no idea what the other is doing. I spent most of yesterday on the phone with all of them. I am cancelling the service as soon as I can and staying with my original purchase. Moving forward still no shower and ceiling is not fixed. Calls to plumbing service, Sundance Services, has not yield any results and the same with calls to AHS. So I’ve been left to fend for myself.
