    I called American Home Shield to have our AC problem fixed. Their rep said they'd get right on it then I got a notice via email that Rose Heating & Air Conditioning Service was coming down from way up north. But they serve Napa and it was taken care of. It was a real hot spell here, so they had to go outside the city limit to find somebody. The tech who came out was very professional. He went right to the source and confirmed that it was a blower fan rather than the Freon or whatever they used to cool. So, he went up into the attic then had some test equipment and confirmed that it was the capacitor that was faulty. And he had the capacitor in his truck. He put it in and it worked fine. All in all, AHS took care of everything and it was a very good experience. There was no hassle and I was completely satisfied.

    The last claim with American Home Shield is for the plumbing and that worked out pretty good for me. The contractor was great. When I first filed the claim, they called me the next day. The day after that, they came out so everything was real quick. The tech they sent out, David, was a real professional. He took care of all my needs. They did both bathrooms 'cause I was having problems with both toilets. There are no issues so far so that's good. He told me I had 60 days. If the same thing went wrong, they would come back out. Submitting claims with American Home Shield is fairly easy. We just call on there, they just send out a contractor for what my issue is, and I go ahead and make my payment.

    We had a leak coming from my refrigerator. I went on the website for American Home Shield and their claims process was very easy and simple. They had someone come by the day after and it was very soon. He was able to come in and he fixed it right away. The refrigerator has been perfectly fine since and I haven’t had an issue.     My fridge was leaking water and I didn't know where it was coming from. I’d come home and there’d be like pools of water on my floor. It was going on for about a couple of weeks before I made a claim because the first time it happened, I thought it might have been a spill or something and it didn't really happen too much again. Then we went on vacation and when we came back, there was water everywhere. My step-dad had come and looked, and it looked like the water drainage was overflowing. He wasn’t sure what was going on so I called American Home Shield.

    The contractor was very nice. He told me he had never seen that happen before, so he took pictures, sent them to his boss, and talked to his boss to find out what the issue was. It took him probably a half hour or so to repair it. My fridge was 11 years old. From being back against the wall and everything from dirt, dust, and buildup, the compressor wasn’t able to work like it was supposed to. It has to evaporate the water. He basically just wiped it down, cleaned it off, and I haven’t had any issues.

    I'm glad I have American Home Shield. It's a good thing to have. I filed a claim over the phone for my compressor that went out, and the process was easy. Mighty MC came out, and the work they did was awesome. My fan used to be loud outside, and you could hear it. As soon as you open the door, you could hear the thing outside. Now, you can't even hear it. It's quiet. It was like he went an extra mile and took care of the fan.

    We had some problems in the bathroom and I called American Home Shield. They got me the company who helped me. I wanted to make sure it was covered by the insurance. The contractor came and he was very nice, knowledgeable and had patience. He fixed the toilet and the shower place. Right now, the bathroom is working good and I’m very happy with AHS.     The AC was blowing but it wasn't getting cool. I filed a claim with American Home Shield online and ACE Heating & Cooling came out in three days. The guy that came out was awesome. He was very thorough and he explained everything. Then, when he said he didn't have the part, he didn't say, "Hey, I'm gonna come back in a couple of days." He said, "If they get that part in the shop today, I'm coming back today to get the air running." And he did just that. Everything has been fine since. I love the idea of American Home Shield. I think it's a great program and I've told a lot of people about them.

    My experience with American Home Shield has always been pleasant and very professional. They're also quick to respond so it's always been good. I filed a claim online for my refrigerator and I prefer that method to calling because American Home Shield responds right away with an email that says what company will be calling me to set up an appointment. But when I've dealt with their representatives, they've always been good as well. They're very helpful. The technician who came out for my refrigerator has been here three times now and he's gotta come back to replace another part. But he's very professional and easy to work with. American Home Shield is wonderful to work with too. They have good people that they send out.

    The air conditioner fan broke so we needed a new fan. We called American Home Shield and placed the service order. The first contractor couldn’t get out for 2 weeks so I called American Home Shield and asked that they place it with another contractor which they did. That contractor came within 2 business days.     I had a claim a couple of weeks ago for my dryer and that was taken care of, but when my air-con was leaking, American Home Shield got somebody to come in and his performance wasn’t very good. He said the thing was not seated correctly and on reporting of an incorrect fault, AHS decided they weren’t going to pay it. Their support was appalling. I got somebody else in, it cost $125 to clean the AC and that was it. I’ll be terminating my contract with AHS.

    My air conditioning unit wasn’t blowing cold air. I filed a claim with American Home Shield online because it was around 11 o’clock at night. But it’s always been really easy to do it online. The contractor was really fast. It was a quick fix. He was out here for maybe 30 minutes, and he was really thorough.     My oven was shutting off, and I had three different appliance services that came out and looked at it. One said it's an electrical problem, but another technician came out and said it wasn’t. The last service provider came out about three times before they solved the problem. The oven has been fixed three days ago and I've been using it quite often.

    I switched to AHS from a company that took a month to give a hot water heater. One time, our refrigerator wasn't cooling right. I phoned in a claim to AHS and Stuart's Appliances came out the next day.     The tech was very competent and very professional. He came and checked the stove out. We thought we had a damage after a lightning strike. He assessed the problem, got the thing to reboot, and we’re in business. I thought we fried the motherboard or something in the stove, but he was able to figure it out.     We couldn't turn off the hot water and it just kept running. I called that in to American Home Shield and they called a company. They told me it would cost $850 out of my pocket to fix the issue. We called American Home Shield back and we asked them if they could get a second opinion. They called Air Pro Master. They came out and they looked at the issue. They got a part and came back. In five minutes, the issue was fixed for no charge. Everything is working fine now. I was very satisfied.

    This last time that we had to call American Home Shield, the experience was fine. The guy from Carolina Appliance did fix the stove within a couple of days. It was just one burner on the stove that needed to be fixed. But back in October, after the hurricane, we had all kinds of problems and it wasn't because of the hurricane. Our refrigerator was not working and our water heater was busted. It happened on a Friday and my husband called. We never had any service ‘til the following Thursday and their answer was it was not listed as an emergency. The guy from Carolina Appliance came out on a Wednesday. He couldn't fix it 'cause he had to go get something so it never got fixed ‘til Friday. The guy with the water heater came out on Thursday, came back with the water heater on Friday, but he came back with the wrong one. It was a nightmare and I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield.

    They advertise on TV that people came the same day for the woman saying her refrigerator went out and for the other lady saying the hot water went out. The woman with the refrigerator said she got $150 check for the food that was destroyed in the fridge. I was never repaid and no one even offered to do that. When they say that you call and they come within 24 hours, that's a load. We never even heard back from anybody after we called on Friday until like Tuesday. And we had the phone number of the person from Carolina Appliance. We kept calling and calling and calling. Nobody answered. There was no answering machine, no nothing. He did fix my stove. He had to go get a part but he came back the next day. He called the day after we called American Home Shield. But nobody's ever called the same day. It just doesn't happen.

    I’m hoping that nothing else goes wrong. Our person that does the maintenance on our air conditioner and heating system said that we've got the builder's special in here and we've been here 12 years. He said a lot of people in this neighborhood have already had theirs replaced. We know that that's going. We're gonna need a whole new system because this system is not in business anymore, and I am afraid to use American Home Shield for that.

    My VAC went down and I called American Home Shield. They were nice, but I’m gonna leave them and go with another company. It takes days for somebody to come out. They finally brought somebody out and the guy said, “I don’t work on a split. You’re gonna have to call somebody else.” So, I called back and I told AHS, and they said, “We’ll try to get somebody right out.” The next person came out and said the same thing. That was four days without the air conditioner. I got another company come Friday and the tech opened up the AC, and he said, “This isn’t even split. It’s just an old unit that looks like a split. They didn’t even open it up and look.” So, I had to go five days without an air conditioner. Twice, AHS should've sent somebody out that did that.

    I called in a claim around the 4th of July and it took longer than I hoped. It took me forever to get wherever I was trying to get when I made the phone call. And you just have to keep trying. But it is what it is. We had a different warranty company on a different house that we own in another state where we used to live, and American Home Shield is so much better than the other one. The contractor told me ahead of time when they would be here, and they came exactly when they said they would. I would’ve liked it if they could’ve come sooner, but they couldn’t. But they did a real good job and they were real nice folks. It was hard to call American Home Shield and they should make it easier to go through the recording thing. But they did a good job and I'm very pleased.

    American Home Shield is okay. But there was a time when my microwave stopped working. When the technician came, he said that he needed to order a spare part. That took some time until I followed up in like a month. They said the spare part was still not available. It took us three months waiting for the spare part. I kept on calling but nobody was telling me that the spare part was taking time.

    It's hard when you don’t have a microwave. I had to buy a smaller one and we used that temporarily. American Home Shield couldn't come up with the spare part and nobody could tell me why it took that long to let me know that the spare part was not available although I keep on calling. I ended up buying another microwave that would fit our cabinet. I was asked to pay something but how could I pay something if nothing was even done?

    For our most recent claim, our AC suddenly stopped getting cold. I called American Home Shield and they sent out Austin Heating and Air. The gentleman who came was punctual and professional. He explained what happened and also gave some tips about how to take care of the AC. For now, our AC is doing fine. No problem so far.

    The dishwasher was clogged. Golden Appliance Repair came out in a day and that one went well. The contractor was personable, got to the job, fixed it right away, and pretty much went straight to the point. Everything is working fine now. Submitting claims online to AHS is just simple, like straight to the point. But I’ve had some issues before where sometimes I just need to talk to a representative before filing a claim. I’ve called a couple of times and I’ve gotten people in a foreign country. And they had put me on hold twice and disconnected the call. Not with this particular claim, but I’ve had a not so good experience with American Home Shield. And I’ve had AHS in three different properties and there's been a bad experience.

    We got this home warranty when purchasing our house. After over 2 years for about $34/mo plus service charges of $75 per visit, it was a total waste of money. Long wait times for over the phone customer service. We had a plumbing issue "fixed" twice by two different services providers and still had to hire outside their network to get it fixed properly. Every service provider they assigned us had poor customer reviews and we were afraid to use them especially since the plumbing was not fixed correctly. We requested HVAC service, and upon reviewing the company they were going to send out, we decided to cancel it.

    When cancelling our contract on June 7th, 2019 they still charged for the entire month of June and did not give us a partial reimbursement, then I was contacted by email July 8th saying our payment was past due, even though I canceled! So I contacted them again, and they charged a cancellation fee of $5.44. I asked if they can waive it since we had such poor service and still got charged for the entire month of June, but they still wanted their fee. The VERY LEAST they could have done after such terrible service was to waive that tiny fee. Would never recommend this company. They do not value their customers.

    First AHS sent a company to repair my HVAC. The company told me on 3 separate occasions that they were coming to my home, so I lost 3 days of work. I contacted AHS. They did nothing, so I cancelled my policy - this was January 2019. In March 2019, I get a call that my account is past due. I tell them I cancelled my policy. They say they are notating the account. July 2, 2019 I get a letter from them that they are cancelling my policy and referring my account to collections. I call and they tell me I owe them January to July. I explain to the person on the phone the situation.

    After 45 minutes of research she tells me there is nothing she can do. I ask for manager. She says manager will tell me same thing. I insist. She says she will refer me to escalation department. I am put on hold for 27 minutes. She comes back to tell me she is still trying to reach the escalation department and hangs up on me. I call back and ask to be transferred to escalation department. After explaining the situation to the person on the phone, they put me on hold and then come back and hang up. I will NEVER do business with them again. I signed up today with another provider.

    First, they only send out the bottom of the barrel repair people. When you look up the people they send out you see 1/5 wish I could rate 0/5 reviews. The people they send out are truly horrible! Second, there is almost no way to talk to anyone live. Most times the phones are not answered. If you do get someone live they can not speak English. Everything is all done through a website that more times than not is malfunctioning. Third, you have no control over who they send you. I asked them not to send a specific company and I was told, "Too bad. So sad. That is who we send."

    Fourth, we canceled our contract after being with the company for many many many years when putting up with their bad service and horrific website and bad companies got to be too much and they had the nerve to charge us $65 for canceling the contract. Just this weekend we had to refix a faucet that we paid a $65 co-pay to a company to fix early this year. Also, We told them to cancel the company they wanted to send us to repair our fridge because we did not want to deal with that company and they charged us $65 co-pay and the company never even showed up!! Avoid this company like the plague.

    I’ve had AHS for several years. Really haven’t had the need to engage them for work orders. As of July 2019 I had to engage them three times in four months due to my ac unit not working properly. They were called March, May, and again in July. The same issue report each time and the same company sent to complete the repairs. Each time I was charged for a service call and as if today, it’s the same issue before. If the issue can’t be fixed, shouldn’t the unit be replaced. I’m now on hold with customer service for more than one is assisting.

    I have had American Hom Shield Warranty for about 16 months and this is the second time I've submitted a service request. It is the middle of the summer and my a/c unit went out. I requested service early in the morning on July 5th. I'm aware this was a Friday after the 4th of July but it is the middle of the summer and my children are dying from the heat. I finally received a call from technician/vendor on Sunday saying they will be out on Monday morning. Monday morning; they cancel due to the weather and will re-schedule.

    What does the weather have to do with repairing my a/c unit??? Please tell me? So I called American Home Shield requesting a new vendor/technician. They will not accommodate saying the vendors have 48 business hours to make the first contact. These are life and death situations when you do not have ventilation in your home so 24 - 48 hours wait is entirely unacceptable. And a company that cannot handle exceptions to the rules or escalation points is not worth the trouble. I tried to cancel the contract and they claim I'd have to pay fees rather than receive a refund.

    I do not recommend this company. They are not there for you when you need them and that is the whole point of a home warranty. In fact, I'm of the opinion that you should not use home warranty plans at all. They are useless and try to use the cheapest parts and labor possible. Entirely not worth your money. I'm stuck in a catch twenty-two at this point as I prefer to cancel and call my own technician but I am not OK with having to pay additional fees to cancel this absolutely horrible warranty plan. Please do yourself a favor and just say no to American Home Shield Home Warranty plans.

    I purchased this agreement 3 years ago to cover my parents house in Annandale, VA. My parents are aging and found it difficult to keep up on repairs as before. The experience we had with this company and the contractors supporting Annandale are horrible and non professional or even knowledgeable in repairing washer and dryers, ranges or A/C was severely lacking and all the cases the contractor was never able to find a and in the case of the AC repair they made it worse. We had to call contractors we knew and trusted outside of the program.

    We finally had enough and cancelled the contract. No apologies just a “ok let’s cancel”. On top of that we we received two emails threatening going to collections for a 3 dollar admin fee to cancel. When I called customer support on why we were being charged this fee I got a Customer Service rep who proceeded to read a paragraph from the agreement that justified why they could charge an admin fee. Don’t go anywhere near this company if you want a good customer focused company.

    On May 22nd, 2019 I scheduled a service call with AHS for my Free Standing Ice Maker. First, they assigned a Technician, which, after I called to set the appointment told me that they did not service Freestanding Ice Makers. I called AHS and told them and they assigned a new company, which, effectively, scheduled a service call for Memorial Day - May 27th, 2019. The technician came and looked at the ice maker and first stated that he would need to order some parts in an effort to fix the ice maker and later stated that it was leaking Freon and that he would not order the parts, since AHS´ policy with Freon leaks is to report it and then they would send another company to verify the original diagnosis and then determine necessary repairs. To this date and after 7 calls into AHS on the matter, in theory, the original technician "has not" provided a diagnosis, so AHS cannot assess what's necessary.

    Each call made, the call center told me that AHS was working on the matter and that it had been escalated accordingly and that within 24 hrs I would get a call from AHS. After each call and certainly more than 24 hrs later, no call was received from AHS and I had to call, go through the same explanation again, spend more than 40 minutes on the phone and no resolution. On the latest call, the Rep told me that we would have to wait and I told him that more than 1.5 months after placing the original order, I´m still waiting on their selected contractor to complete their work and that I would have to wait, unless I wanted to pay for another service call, to which I responded "absolutely not, because I´m not responsible for their contractor´s mistakes and that I do not pay or select their contractors, I pay them to get this resolved". I need to get this resolved and to date, all I´ve heard from AHS are excuses and no effort on their end to work on a resolution.

    I submitted a request for service, paid for the service call and a technician came out two days later. In the five minutes he spent at my home, he removed an inspection cover, jumped a wire tot the main board, then reinstalled the inspection cover. He said there were Non-OEM Parts installed and he would need approval before he could begin repairs. I was told AHS would contact me with-in two days. I called AHS two days later and was told my claim was being reviewed and I would be contacted once a determination was made. Another two days went by and again I contacted AHS. They told me my appliance was not covered because there were wires cut and that is not covered. Six days without a refrigerator and not so much as a callback.

    I immediately called a local appliance repair and they came out the same day. They diagnosed the problem as being a blown fuse. After agreeing to pay $250 they had my fridge working within 20 minutes. There were no cut wires and all the parts were factory parts. I received a letter two weeks later stating that my refrig would no longer be covered under my warranty plan, until needed repairs were made. There is no appeals process and you can't get through to anybody but an answering service which is reading from a script. Thoroughly dissatisfied. Save your money. This service is a total scam.

    I just bought a house and I was having it re-keyed. Originally, I called AHS to file a claim but I went online to follow up when nothing was happening. At first, they assigned one guy but he could not seem to make it out. Once they kinda figured out that he wasn’t showing up, they already charged me then they gave me another contractor who showed up right away and did a really good job. He was very helpful, too. There were a couple of deadbolts that he couldn’t get unstuck, so he went the extra mile. I said I’d buy new ones and he said he’d come back, then he came back and put new ones in because he couldn’t get the old ones to work. So, that was awesome because I really wanted to get that taken care of. So far, everything has been working excellently since the repair.

    I've been with AHS for a month now and I liked my experience with the re-key thing. There were some glitches, but it all came out good in the end. I also thought that that was a really good benefit. I've heard that sometimes it takes a while for things to happen or to get repaired with AHS but we’ll wait and see. Hopefully, I won’t need much attention.

    The icemaker on my refrigerator wasn’t working. The fellow came out and he was very good. He told me I needed a new icemaker and he ordered a new one. They sent it to them from the Sub-Zero company. He came out with it but it didn't fit so he had to send it back. They sent him another one, and that one didn't fit either. My husband drinks a lot of water with ice in it. My dog likes ice cubes and he was missing it ‘cause he kept going over by the refrigerator and he just sits there. Finally, the third time was a charm. They sent him another new icemaker. He brought it out in a box, opened it, and thank god that one fit. And it does seem to be working okay.

    We’ve used this company, All American Appliance, before. The technician that comes out, Mark, was trained. On the Sub-Zero refrigerator, he told us the exact year of our particular machine. He really knows how to fix it. We had a few people come out from American Home Shield. They suggested those companies, and they didn't know how. They would tell us, “Well, your insurance company doesn't cover it, and it’s gonna be thousands of dollars.” I said, “But how do you know? You didn't even call American Home Shield. You just walked into my house.” As soon as they found out it was a Sub-Zero, everything changed. They wanted to change all kinds of parts and do all kinds of things.

    We found Mark and he did a second opinion a few years ago for us. And the first fella said, “Well, you’re gonna need thousands of dollars’ worth of work, and I have to change all these parts and your insurance doesn't cover it and everything.” Mark came out and he said he was really familiar with the refrigerator. He looked in there and said all I needed was a new timer” It’s like a $30 part which for a Sub-Zero refrigerator is really cheap. He ordered the new timer for the freezer part, put it in, and it worked like a charm.

    I hope that All American Appliance stay with American Home Shield because if there’s a problem with my refrigerator, I don't want anyone just coming out. As soon as they see it’s a Sub-Zero, even though it’s an older one, they just go nuts and just tell me I need thousands of dollars and insurance doesn't cover it, even though they’ve never even called American Home Shield. They just walk in the door. But All American Appliance is very good. I’ve asked them if they do plumbing but unfortunately, they don't. Some of the plumbers that have come into our house have been awful. I am hoping to find an honest plumber. When contractors tell you all kinds of crazy things and that they're not covered, that’s when it gets to be really strange. But All American Appliance doesn't do that, especially this technician, Mark. I wish all appliance people were like them though some of the other people have been good too.

    American Home Shield is a very good company. It’s not their fault when some of these technicians come out and they're not too great like some of the plumbers that we’ve had. They always send out someone right away. It’s just that some of them say it’s not covered so they can charge you which my husband says is a bait-and-switch system.

    Everybody who helped me set up my claim was wonderful. My air conditioning wasn't working and I contacted American over the phone. Metropolitan Heating & Air came out that same week, very soon after I called. They had made the arrangements and the guy who came out was beyond efficient. He was young and super sharp. We were pleased. He figured out the issue within his first five minutes then he was certain that he would be able to find the part, and he did. He called me within two days, saying he got the part. Then he asked whether I was home and if he could come by and do it then. It was amazing. He got the air conditioning done and working before it got hot. It's running like a charm now. It's absolutely perfect.

    That same week, I recommended American Home Shield to my mother-in-law. She was asking me about it and I told her how pleased that I was. I encouraged her to look for them on the internet and gave her the 800 number. The guy from Metropolitan also came out for one other issue, for our furnace. We've had several other companies look at it but again, he was able to identify the issue within five minutes and fix it. He was amazing from beginning to end.

    The air conditioner wasn’t kicking out any cold air and I called American Home Shield on the phone. The young gentleman from First Choice Heating & Air came out on time and he was very polite and genuine. He checked everything out and it needed more Freon so, he filled it up and it has been working fine. He was a very nice young man and he did the work within 15 minutes and left. So, it was a very good experience. AHS has been very prompt. The plunger system in the guest bathroom went out on Sunday and so, I called and set up an appointment again. A different young man came out this morning, showed up on time and it took him 15 minutes to replace the plunger system. He was very much a gentleman and he was very cordial. So far, I've been very pleased with AHS. I have four decades of insurance experience and so I'm very much familiar with the claims process. It's a lot easier now than it used to be.

    I submitted a claim to AHS for a GE refrigerator. The freezer part was not freezing and it was barely cool on the bottom. It wasn’t staying cold, and I was losing my food. Appliance 911 came and it was perfect service. That was a good experience for me. It took a day or two and they were here. And that was unusual ‘cause I can’t say the same on other circumstances. The time before that with another contractor, something happened and it was some kind of emergency and things do happen. So, we were delayed for three days. I just wish all of them were like Appliance 911. I would recommend AHS anytime. I just wish if something else happens, they would just still keep the same company.

    Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been good. I haven't had any issues as far as claims being denied directly. We just had one instance where it was denied last year, but it was more of my fault that I delayed in getting the bill submitted and they declined to pay that. The only issue that I have is that the contractors that are selected within American Home Shield's network are typically not from the town I'm from, so they have to drive two and a half hours in order to service us, which is not a good thing especially if they're not able to repair.

    The contractors within their network are the ones that are typically just looking to get started as a new contractor instead of an existing contractor, so they're able to accept the lower rate to pay. Also, it is never the same contractor with American Home Shield. There were a lot of contractors that had been part of the American Home Shield list in the past, but they have declined to work with them going forward for whatever reason.

    When my air conditioner wasn't blowing out cold air, I submitted a claim but having the contractor out took longer than normal because of the logistics of those contractors that typically need to drive over two hours. They're not gonna drive two hours for one customer, so they will try to schedule multiple customers in that area on a given day. In doing so, it could be a week or two weeks before it's looked at. It took about a week for the contractor to come out, but they were able to repair it the same day. It was very unusual and I was surprised by that because I thought they would get out here, diagnose it, then they would have to order a part, and wait for it to come in. But the air conditioner is working good ever since the repair.

They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the refrigerator and why the ice makers wouldn’t work. Home Shield sent a different company. Finally, Home Shield sent a guy who knew right away that the problem with the ice maker was that the water lines were freezing up. So, now, we have paperwork and Home Shield replaced the refrigerator. I paid $200 more in what they were giving to get a little bit better model. They didn’t have anything that I wanted. So, I did a cash-out option and I’m just waiting for a check now.

    I filed a claim with American Home Shield when my thermostat was not working. I did it online. So the claim was very quick. Also, the response was very quick. But the time for the first visit took one week. It is summer, so it is okay. But if it is winter in Minnesota, that would have been a challenge. The guys who came were professional and decent people. There were three issues. One was the furnace, and the furnace guy wanted me to set up a call with an electrician. And the electrician came very quickly. It took a long time to get the issue fixed, but the people are good and the experience was good as well.

    In the few times that I’ve had claims open, American Home Shield has always been very responsive and it's been a pleasurable experience. We recently had a pool pump that wasn’t functioning properly and Silver Valley Pool and Spa had to come out. It turned out that the pump itself wasn’t damaged. It just had an inactive use. The tech was able to prime the pump and get it working, which I thought was great and it saved me a few thousand dollars. I was extremely happy with that.     Generally, I've had a great experience with American Home Shield. However, I had an issue with the plumber who came out the last couple of times. I had a faucet and the valve was stuck. Moreover, the crystal handle on it broke because the valve was so hard to pull out. I called American Home Shield but then the plumber they assigned never got back to me. They said that the claim was denied because the faucet was taken apart and there were parts missing. None of that was true. Though the faucet was actually taken apart, the screw, cap, and the broken handle were still there. It would have taken me less than a minute to put it back on. I ended up having someone else replace the faucet since the process took a couple of weeks. It was the faucet in the master bathroom, and we needed to use it. It just took forever to hear back and then when we did, it wasn’t good news, so we just went ahead and got it done.

    The same plumber came out on my next call to American Home Shield. As my skinny little nine-year-old son was turning off his shower that has one of the pull-out handles, the handle broke. That was the original handle in the house when we moved in and we've been at this location for 23 years. When I called that plumber yesterday, their rep said that American Home Shield denied the claim because they said that the handle was abused. Now, I could abuse something, my wife might even be able to, but I pretty much doubt my nine-year-old kid taking a shower is gonna abuse the handle.

    I have since talked to the owner of Rapp Plumbing because I'm so unhappy with them and I wanted to make sure they never send their tech Joseph out to my house again as he was responsible for AHS' denial of my claim. Now, I have a different plumber coming out to do work because it didn't work out with American Home Shield initially. I got a request in and they're sending someone else out to do some work for me tomorrow to get everything good.

    Recently, I talked to reps from American Home Shield and had a bit of difficulty understanding them trying to tell me about why they weren’t gonna replace the faucet. It was a matter of being able to understand broken English. I did not even get that info from them and instead got it from the plumber when I called them. Still, AHS has been great overall and they haven't denied any of my claims in the past.

We have a General Electric Monogram dishwasher and it didn't have pressure on it, and I'm still waiting for the company that promised to come out and service it. They called me up and troubleshot over the phone, and they said they ordered some kind of part. They said that they were gonna come out on the 5th of July, and they never showed. I called them, and they said that they had a new system and that they were gonna call me back and reschedule. They have yet to do that. It's been a couple of weeks and I'm not happy with what's going on.

    I am trying to get a compressor put into my air conditioner. First, Freedom Heating & Cooling came out and told me that I need a new compressor, that I needed 12 pounds of Freon at $100, so it's $1,200, and I would need modifications at $600. So a total of $1,800. Then, American Home Shield contacted me and said I needed 9 pounds of Freon. So right there, there was a red flag that Freedom Heating & Cooling is trying to charge me $300 for extra Freon. I sought American Home Shield to allow me to pay them another $75 to have another person come out and give me a second opinion. They told me upfront that if the second opinion is the same as the first, I have to use the first. I said I understand that.

    DCS Solutions came out and they said I need a compressor but I do not need the modifications which Freedom Heating & Cooling is charging me $600 for. So to me, Freedom Heating & Cooling was charging me for 300 more dollars of Freon and they got called out on it. And then, they were gonna charge me $600 for modifications that are not needed. So Freedom Heating & Cooling gave me a bid at $1,460 and DCS Solutions gave me a bid of $540. So it's 900 more dollars. I have 30 phone calls logged in to American Home Shield, and they said, "No, we know that it came back a different amount, but you still have to go with the first vendor." I said that it doesn't make sense. They know they're cheating me out of $900.

    So I haven't had air condition for six weeks. I've got pictures of my four Siberian husky dogs who are breathing heavy. I've got pictures of my thermostat showing 84 degrees in the house. I have to wet the dogs down. I turned them in to the BBB last Tuesday and said I just want DCS Solutions to be able to fix the air conditioner. And they have not approved it. I tried to send two certified letters to the president as well. That's what I've been going through for six weeks. I just think it's wrong that they want me to use a company that they know is charging me 900 more dollars.

    I've been a member of AHS for 10 years. And I have two houses that I have insurance with them. They're both their vendors. It's not like I was asking to use an outside vendor. DCS Solutions is their vendor as well. And I understand, if they have a commitment to that first company, and it came back the same. But it didn't come back the same.

    It has been an ongoing event with our air conditioning and that’s good that we had coverage with American Home Shield. My wife made a call to submit the claim and there’s always a lag time between the point of contact and a provider that we wished there was more of a response. The initial call went out to Advantage Refrigeration. A technician by the name of Mike came out and looked at it. It's an old unit and we were hoping that they would look at it and it was not worth the repair. But they repaired it. It took them a while to come back out after they evaluated to get it fixed because they had to order a part. It’s a busy time of year. I just have to say it’s not a fault of their professionalism and their service. The part took a while and then they came back out and serviced it with Freon. It seemed the part worked well.

    The second call was the end of May where the air conditioning went out again. American Home Shield made contact with Advantage and they called us back that very first day and had us on schedule the next day. Mike came out again and took care of the problem. It took him all but 10 minutes to troubleshoot, isolate, and replace the item that was malfunctioning. The unit is working fine since. The service, especially with American Shield coordinating it with the provider, was done great. Now, the air conditioning’s running. Even though it’s 17 years old, it’s still going. We’re happy it’s running at this time of year in Florida. I hope to continue the service after next year.

    I did an AC claim with American Home Shield. At first, it was blowing air, but the air wasn’t as cold as it should’ve been in my upstairs unit. And then, it started making a really loud noise, so we shut it off and set up the appointment. The weird part about it was the air started not getting cool, so we put in a claim. And then, later on that evening, it felt cool again. So, I cancelled the first request. Then, a day later, it came back again, so I filed another request. I did the first claim over the phone. The other one was online. I’m glad AHS has other options than knowing your contract number because usually, I’m not sitting in front of my contract to know the number. So, once I realized there was a workaround online to not have to necessarily know your contract number, then that’s an easier way for me to do it.

    The guy that came out was really good. But I don't think he was proactive as much as he could have been. I spent nine years in the HVAC business, so I kind of know some of the stuff. But I knew at least part of the problem was up in my attic, and my wife, because of my knee, doesn't allow me to go in the attic anymore. So, I couldn’t really go out and look at it myself. So, when the guy came, I said, “So, it first started blowing air that wasn’t cold, and then, it started making a noise like a freight train up there.” And I figured either of these could be in the blower or the whole blower assembly. Something was going on with it. So, it was out of whack. I thought running it more was only going to make it worse, and that was why we shut it off. And so, we just put fans. You can take a fan and pull air from the downstairs and blow it upstairs. We did that to get by until we could get the guy to come out.

    The guy was able to fix everything but I kinda had to coach him a little bit. He came and he fixed the blower and he replaced the motor and the squirrel-cage. He came down out of the attic and he put a hand in front of the vent, and it was kinda cool but not very cool. All the ducts are up in that hot attic, so I know it takes a little while to blow the hot air out. But I told him I was glad that he took care of the noise problem. It sounds really normal again. I also asked him if he should put his gauges on the outside unit just to make sure that we were getting enough cool. So, he went out and he put the gauges on it. And sure enough, we had a leak in the Schrader valve on the outside unit, and we had lost four pounds of Freon.

    He explained quickly what the charge for Freon is and what American Home Shield covered. And I said, “I understand that, so, just go ahead and change the valve, put the Freon in it, and I’ll pay the difference to you guys.” So, that was what we did, and it’s been working great ever since. He was very accommodating. He just wasn't really super proactive. I don't think he was necessarily as thorough as he could’ve been and had I not been there, it wouldn’t have gotten fixed completely. But his demeanor was really good. It was like 120 degrees up in that attic and he didn't have a complaint. He didn't wanna take anything from us. He was telling us he had to go do exactly the same thing on his next call. And I said, “You need some water. You need to get hydrated.” So, I gave him some water.

    He was a really nice guy and the overall experience was really good. He was on time. When he told us something, he was exactly where he needed to be, and he called us ahead of time to let us know he was on his way. I managed techs for seven out of the nine years I was in HVAC, and I think their company has a good procedure in place on how they do things. And he seemed to follow it. It’s just that he wasn’t very instinctive. I think he just thought, “Okay, now it doesn't make that noise, so I’m good.” But in essence, I know my technicians would have never left the facility without putting their gauges on it to make sure it was working properly. Still, I wasn’t dissatisfied at all.

    My A/C unit went out 7/3. When I called AHS they said the earliest appointment was 7/9. I have called daily since the 3rd trying to get an appointment that is sooner as it is 90+ degrees in my house. Every time I call I get horrible customer service that cannot do anything to help me get a sooner appointment. One of the agents even offered me an appointment on 7/11 even though I have an appointment on 7/9. When I try to escalate to a manager or their escalation department they say there is no one there or the department is closed or they are busy. The funny thing is a neighbor's A/C went out of Saturday and they had a technician come out the same day because they did not have to go through a home warranty. Save your money and time and do not bother to get a warranty.

    I have been a member of American Home Shield for three years and always considered them to be the best investment I made after buying my home. But last April 8th, I called about my A/C which wasn't cooling. AHS sent out Houston Air Comfort to work on the unit. After 8 visits, faulty parts, and multiple mistakes from multiple technicians (while upcharging an additional $300), the A/C still is not working properly! When the A/C was "supposed" to be fixed, repairman Ken left my house without ever knocking to let me know. I went outside to find my A/C unit standing open, along with my breaker box. He hadn't even bothered to put all the screws back. He also left a Swisher Sweets cigar butt and cigar wrapper on the ground by the A/C.

    All that would be almost acceptable, if it were fixed. But it wasn't! I called on May 30th to try and get some help. AHS said the A/C company would be notified, but Houston Air Comfort never contacted me. When I was finally able to book an appointment through AHS, the technician NEVER SHOWED UP (in a 5-hour window!). And nobody called to let me know why. I tried calling "American" Home Shield multiple times to get help, but I was always connected with a site overseas whose only answer was to set up an appointment. I said this was pointless since the company did not show up even when they booked a visit. The supervisor "Rex" overseas told me that was my only option -- to wait for the appointment more than a week away. Then she cut me off with "Goodbye!!" (Click).

    So this time, I called Houston Air Comfort the day before to confirm my July 3rd appointment. I received email and text confirmations from them. I waited for that appointment window (1 to 6 pm) last Wednesday, July 3rd. But as I suspected, it was all a futile attempt. They didn't show up at all for the second time!! (June 21 & July 3) This is a service company?!

    I wake up every morning sweating, come home to an 80+ degree house and, for some reason, my electric bill is much higher than it's ever been. I have since gone online to Yelp and seen that Houston Air Comfort are infamous for this type of behavior. Review after review describes their upselling tactics, missing appointments, multiple technicians all saying different things EXCEPT all suggest paying them for expensive repairs. Why would AHS use this poorly reviewed (2 stars) company?!

    I want to reiterate that I have ALWAYS had wonderful service from AHS... until now. I just want AHS to send out someone else to fix my A/C. 3 months is WAY too long to go on without it! And I suggest they scratch Houston Air Comfort from their vendor list, as they are the worst service company I have ever dealt with in nearly 50 years on the Earth. --Scott **. Houston, Texas.

    The water heater was leaking and we needed it to be replaced. American Home Shield sent out a tech to look at it and diagnose it, and then he submitted the paperwork. The only thing I wasn’t too keen on was how long it took for them to actually replace the water heater. The contractor came back when everything was delivered for them to do the work. I thought I had a window between 9:00 and 11:00, but they showed up at 9:00 and they were done by 11:00. But it was disappointing that I had to pay money out of pocket for connecting it to the existing piping, which I thought was a little pricey. It was about $400 to connect four pipes and the exhaust fan. That just seemed a lot.

    I usually submit my claims online to American Home Shield. I'm fine with opening tickets and putting the comments in there. If it gets into more detail, then I will call in and discuss it with a representative from American Home Shield. I’m still dealing with one other ticket for an air conditioning issue, which they gave me out of band to leverage someone, and then they provided them information. We’re just waiting on verification of next steps. The person I talked to previously at American Home Shield did a great job helping me. She went back, got re-approval to have someone else look at it because I had multiple vendors come out and tell me it's right-sized, whereas one sales guy came out and said needed to be replaced. So I’m gonna listen to the guys who do the work and maintain the systems, who know the systems on a daily basis, versus the sales guy. So, at this point, American Home Shield did a great job.

    We called American Home Shield and told them we were having cooling problems with the air conditioning unit. I didn't go up there in the attic to observe that, I saw the outside line coming out of the house and the unit. I saw that it iced up, and from prior experience, I knew you had to turn the unit off. And we did that, and a couple of days later, I turned the unit off and let it stay off. And then, when we turned it back on, it cooled for about half a day, and then it stopped cooling. And that was when we made the call.

    The technician and the owner of Grady's Air Conditioning came out and identified the issue. The owner came because he was following up with his employee. And once it was identified, the owner explained what we needed to do. He identified it was the icing of the evaporator coil up in the attic. And he said they would come back and make the repair, because they couldn't do anything while it was still frozen. He gave us some instruction on what to do to get through the weekend, and we were not at the house for several days. And then, from Friday to Sunday, we were at a reunion, and when we got home on Sunday, what I was instructed to do was to run the unit for a couple of hours and turn it off and just leave it alone. So, that was what we did until the technician came out on Monday and he did his inspections and his testing and found that there was a leak on the unit upstairs.

    He made the repair that he could make, and put enough Freon in that unit to allow it to start cooling and working again. And that was done, and right now, it's cooling like it's supposed to and there's no issue. The repair worked. However, he said he couldn't guarantee how long it would stay that way. I was pleased with the work. I was home when the technician came out on that Monday, and he was very efficient. He explained the process that he was using to identify the problem. He knew from the icing of the upstairs, with his experience, what he thought the issues may be. So, having been a former refinery worker, some of what he was telling me, and as he was going about his business, indicated to me that he was knowledgeable and very experienced and professional in doing the work. I was very satisfied with the experience.

    We purchased this house on May 14th of this year and we've had American Home Shield since. They have been on top of the claims that we had put in and we’ve had a pleasant experience thus far. Our most recent claim was an electrical one for our microwave and our range oven. A couple of fans were not working. Submitting the claim was simply easy. As soon as we submitted the claim, American Home Shield emailed us with the service partner that was coming out to service the appliances. They responded in a very timely manner.

    The first time that the technician came, he told us what was wrong. He ordered parts and gave us an approximate date when he would return. He came as stated on the date. The parts were here.     Everything was perfect in my last claim with AHS. They did good job, so I gave a referral to my brother. Maybe he already signed for it, so I'm expecting to get $25. When I have a claim, I submit it online then the contractor texts me. I like that. I also recommended AHS to my neighbors who were talking on nextdoor.com. They talked about what service they should get then somebody mentioned American Home Shield and I told them I'm very happy with the service.

    I even compared AHS with the other warranty companies and I said that this company is good because they don't care with who or what. I have two air conditioning units and they're covering both. That's very excellent. I hear some people around me say that they got good response from AHS, too. They've been happy as well with American Home Shield. I see a lot of bad reviews online but my personal opinion is good because they're doing the repairs for us on rainy days. The one thing I'm hoping is not to go over $75 for the service fee. The last time they came over, the service was $75 worth and I've saved for it. So the warranty was helpful, but it was a small thing. They didn't have to fix much and therefore didn't have to replace anything.

    Our air conditioner was not working and it was the worst at this time of year, especially in Arizona. I submitted a claim online and it was super easy. Someone called the next day, and I was very surprised that I would highly recommend JJ’s Fire & Ice. I kept apologizing and appreciating the tech that he was out there on a Sunday, and he was very polite and nice. He wanted us to be comfortable. I got very lucky. He fixed the motor on the condenser and waited around for a bit to make sure everything was cooling down, then he noticed that there was some condensation building up on the copper pipe. He said that that wasn’t the only issue, so he went in the attic and found another issue up there. It’s hot down here now but after the repair, the AC is keeping up. If every call is that easy, we will keep American Home Shield.

    7-H Home Services came out to repair issues with the refrigerator. The ice maker had stopped working and the freezer part was icing over. I filed the claim through the computer and I was told to expect the contractor to come out in a couple of days. 7-H Home Services solved the issue with the icing over on the freezer. It is still doing that but we haven’t called them back yet. We didn’t know if it was leftover ice in the fridge but then it’s growing more on some of the new stuff we've put on there. Nonetheless, the experience was good and in general, I've had positive experiences with American Home Shield.

    I enjoy American Home Shield and when I have claims, I mostly submit them online because it's easier to get onto the website. But computers sometimes don’t allow us to input notes and that’s the only thing I don’t like about going online. So sometimes, if the issue was a little bit more complicated that I need AHS to be aware of, I’d pick up the phone and speak to an actual person so they can put the notes in there for the technician that’s gonna come out.

    Recently, we had an issue with our pool and when we submitted a claim, the first company that came out lied to us. They said that we had animals that had eaten away certain things and that was why stuff wasn’t working. I also don’t like contractors that come out and give different information. While the tech was here, he told me that a transformer was out but he reported something completely different to AHS. So, I had a second opinion come out and this time, AHS sent Serene Pool LLC. Their tech looked at the situation and said that he didn't know why the other guy would tell me that. He said that the issue was in the wiring that’s under the ground. He was great and thorough with everything. He was honest as well with what the issue was and it was the same thing he told AHS.

    Other than that, when I renewed my contract, I was informed that AHS couldn’t renew the same contract. I told them that I only spent $2,000 total and asked why I could not renew. In the end, I was forced to go with a higher contract and that was the thing that angered me. But overall, I love American Home Shield. I just don’t like the fact that they penalized me for something that wasn’t actually happening and I don’t know why I couldn’t go back with the same contract I had.

    We had two different calls, so we were serviced by two different companies. For the first one, the technician showed up with greasy hands, commonly known as mechanic hands, and he left the dishwasher a mess, with grease spots all over, and then he even used my bathroom and dried his greasy hands on my white towel. He never even acknowledged that or apologized then. It was an awful experience and the issue wasn't resolved, so we decided not to continue working with the first company. The second company showed up, did the work within two working days, and we were very pleased with them. They’re excellent.

    Haskins Heating came out for an unusual sound coming from the AC unit. At first, American Home Shield did not want to make the call but I expressed that there was something wrong. I wanted to get it taken care of before something more drastic took place. Within a day, they had Haskins Heating out.     I have the warranty for peace of mind and it’s pretty affordable. It doesn’t cost me much of anything per month. I've used it several times throughout the four years that I've owned the home and every time I've used it, I've gotten the problem fixed. American Home Shield sends out somebody who is real professional and they work extremely diligently to get the problem resolved as quickly as they possibly could.     My refrigerator issues started on a Friday, and I had to wait over the weekend. The refrigerator was out for four days. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield but I couldn't get anybody in, and a few people cancelled the set appointments. So I didn't get the service in a timely manner. I have elderly parents in the home, and I have medicine in the refrigerator. There were also food that I had to disregard. I was near having to go into coolers. It was so bad. I had to run next door to borrow from my neighbor quick medicine in their refrigerator.

    I have an air conditioner with three digits going on that I couldn't get anybody out there. I realize it was bad timing and I should’ve probably asked about it before the summer. But having it be such a high-level concern, I thought American Home Shield would've expedited a lot faster. They should have more working people in the area rather than just depending on one or two people in our city limit. I was kind of shocked over all of that. I expected a lot more.

    I was real upset that they didn't have this extra expediting. They have sent the claim out to Philippines, and I was upset with the guy. I asked him why he couldn't just give me somebody that was in the next town. And he said that he was in the Philippines. I was kinda thrown off by them having to expedite everything to another country to take a note. They were only taking calls and then get back to the database, and then back to American Home Shield to let them know what they were doing, and then expediting from there. So, everybody just went home for the weekend. But I didn't feel that they were putting out for the consumer. Once it was the weekend, everybody just shut their doors and left us playing phone tag. I was arguing with people who had no control over it.

    The first guy from Mr. Appliance that came out for the refrigerator didn't even give me any work order. I kept waiting and waiting for him to come back, and it’s been about two months now. I don’t know if I should’ve expected that work order he never gave me. So far, the refrigerator is working, but there were some parts that were supposed to be delivered that haven't been yet. I notified American Home Shield about but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

    When I had an air conditioner issue, Air-One Mechanical came out and they did a very good job, except that the motor is vibrating so bad that it’s making extra noise. So, I called them again yesterday, and I'm waiting for people to return the messages. Overall, American Home Shield's warranty itself is good. It is convenient and wonderful. But I wish that they would give more of the help that is needed, like put out more clientele that could offer their business to us. When I hear the word "expedited", I expect this to be done within right now like it’s an emergency. I work in the medical field, and I’m used to being hands-on. And when people ask me something, I’m right to it, so I’m not used to being treated this way when that’s how I work.

    We received our warranty when we purchased our condo. One month in, the stackable washer/dryer gives out. We called for service and it took about 1 week to get a technician out. The technician said he thought the transmission was fried but the belt was also fried so AHS made him replace the belt first. Another week goes by before he can come back with the belt which of course does not work because the transmission is fried. The technician says he told AHS they should replace the unit that replacing the transmission would probably be difficult and may not work. So two more weeks before AHS sends a new transmission to the technician.

    We are now 4 weeks+ in and the technician came out today and just as he said he could not even remove the old transmission and it cannot be fixed. To top it off every time I call they ask me about our Dishwasher which is NOT broken. When the technician left today he was on the phone with AHS. When I called them a couple hours later they said they had not been given a diagnosis yet. So here we are on July 6th after first contacting them on June 3rd and still NO WASHER/DRYER! I want to know the next steps. Like how long will it take for them to finally admit they need to replace this unit? Will they replace the unit?? Stay tuned...

    I have heard numerous reviews about AHS and I know that everyone will have a different story and perspective. Just like insurance, we’ve had both good and bad experiences with AHS. Well this situation is BAD. On May 21st, over a month ago our fridge broke. We placed a call that day and they had someone come out two days later.

    The contractor KINSTON REFRIGERATION CO INC were great. The service was efficient, and the technician was polite and efficient. A part needed to be ordered but AHS took forever to authorize it. They finally authorized the part but when the Tech came back to install it finally a month later, he discovered that the compressor was the issue and the fridge was a done deal. They put in the order with AHS who contacted us exactly one week later and stated that we would be provided with a new fridge. They sent an email and asked us to select the fridge of our choice and stated that the refrigerator would be ordered and shipped, then installed and the old one would be removed.

    Five days later Forward Air contacts us and schedules an appointment for the Friday after the 4th. Mind you they didn’t ask when we were available. They just stated that the fridge was ready to be installed and they would be here on Friday between 8:30-12:30. My father took the day off and we both rearranged our schedules. We receive a phone call to the home phone number which by the way we have asked to have removed at least 15 times to no avail, at 11 AM. They stated that the truck broke down and they would deliver the next day (Saturday/today) in the same delivery window. They also stated that they would call back to confirm. They never did!

    I contacted them at 4:30 PM and they of course said, “oh the warehouse was going to call but we have you in for delivery tomorrow between 8:30-12:30”. I mean no one seems to think that they should ask if we are available, but who are we but the people living without a fridge for more than a month and the customer who pays you, but that’s irrelevant apparently. This morning we receive a call at 8:45 AM that they couldn’t deliver today because “there aren’t enough trucks and we can come next week”. My Dad stated that he was contacting AHS.

    I contact Forward Air who states that they rescheduled for Tuesday and I explained that that isn’t going to work. They lied about a broken-down truck. They never intended to deliver anything to us. More than likely they weren’t working this holiday weekend and instead of being honest they just kept lying. They “rescheduled” without asking when we were available. This is the worst customer service and overall service I have ever seen. The rep told me to contact AHS. I contacted AHS and spoke to four different reps who speak barely understandable English because clearly that is outsourced. And I must tell you that when you are frustrated and need a problem solved it only exacerbates your anger that you cannot speak to someone of your native language.

    The first rep transferred me to the appliance department which is closed on the weekends. I called back irate and the next representative hung up on me. I called again and I couldn’t even understand the person, so I asked for a transfer. The next representative kept apologizing which honestly annoyed me. I don’t need your apologies, I just need you to admit that you failed at your job, your customer service and the situation will be remedied. Of course, none of that happened and I will have to continue dealing with this nonsense on Monday. So, I won’t tell you not to go into contract with AHS as they have their moments, but what I can tell you is that they DO NOT screen their contractors and they have terrible customer service. They don’t ensure that their customers are happy, and they are terrible at problem solving.

    Original Review: It's been 30 days and our dryer is still not repaired. The service provider attempted to visit for the third time Friday night - then called 10 minutes prior to say he didn't have the parts?? Customer service for AHS has been terrible, each call has been a minimum of 30 minutes because their ploy is to wait you out without committing to a answer so each call includes 50% of your time on hold.

    I have been waiting for almost 4 weeks now for my service request on my central a/c to be resolved. We are a family of 7 living in TX and a/c is a MUST. I have been calling almost every day for weeks now to try to get this resolved and AHS continues to drag this out, asking me to wait another 24 hrs for them to call me back after some bogus department of theirs can decide how to resolve the issue. They NEVER call back. It's not that hard, hold up your end of the contract and pay to repair my a/c! I believe this company is a scam and that they continue to push me off hoping I will give up so they don't have to pay for the repair. They are in breach of contract!

    Not happy at all with AHS. I have 2 properties insured with them, and I’m about to leave them and go with another company. They are giving me a hard time about reimbursement. What a terrible company. It’s a shame to get such horrible service, when you’re paying them $100/month. I’m tired calling and arguing with incompetent people. I’ve always had issues with them, but this time it’s BIG and NOT ok at all!!!

    Filing a claim with American Home Shield online was easy. The contractor that was sent out did a really good job and fixed my refrigerator/ice maker. It took a little while to find the part, but other than that, he was very responsive and professional. He came out, checked the unit, determined it was broken, and then, looked for a part number four, but he said he couldn’t find it online at that point. So, he had to go back to a shop. It was three weeks. He said he couldn’t find it, but he had to turn it back over to AHS. And then, they found the part. I guess they weren’t making that part anymore. And then, as soon as AHS contacted him and mailed him the part, he came back out the day that he got the part and put it back in right away.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for about seven years and I have really been very satisfied with them. I will recommend them. When I submit claims over the phone though, it goes to another country and sometimes there’s a language barrier. But when I had an AC issue, South Belt AC and Heating came out the next day. It was really quick. However, they had to come out three times because they were having a hard time finding the problem. One guy said everything was okay then the other guy said he had fixed it but it had not been fixed. But they finally found the problem. I asked for a senior tech to come out and he found the problem. I had a compressor problem. Usually, when the compressor goes out, it’s not working at all. In my case, it was running but it wasn’t working.

    The girl in the office didn’t know what she was talking about. She even accused me of doing something to my unit and having someone else to look at it. But I told her this is my air conditioner and I could have anybody I want to look at it, look at it. That pissed me off. But that was just one person. The techs were very courteous and always nice and professional. The last guy, in particular, was really good. They were great with the repair too. I’m happy because I live in Houston and it was in summer. It was my upstairs unit so it was miserable upstairs.

    I've had three appliances that Anytime Appliance Repair worked on, but the latest one was my range. And what happened was it's a self-cleaning oven and the lock doesn’t shut, so it can't clean it. And they manipulated it so that they could do something, but with that, the inner locks didn’t work. So, the contractor was gonna have to buy new parts or order new parts and they're no longer available because it's an older range.

    I did my claim online and the only thing I dislike about the American Home Shield website is its inability to be updated as frequently as I've used other companies. The contractors were here on a Wednesday, and it showed that they were here, but I didn’t find their report in what was going to be done and the fact that the parts weren’t available for over a week. I don’t blame the company as much as the processing through American Home Shield because I did call them back and they said they told American Home Shield that they didn’t have the parts.

    Then, I called and I spoke to somebody at American Home Shield one night and they put me on hold for a while and eventually came up with the same answer. And they said someone would be calling me about doing a replacement. But Anytime Appliances has been on time, courteous, and knowledgeable. They came and fixed the dishwasher, too. So, I appreciate what they were able to do and I'm very happy with them as a contractor to American Home Shield.

    I'm very happy with the overall experience. The only downside is that when they said, “Hey, we're gonna send you this out, you know, get you this appliance,” the one that they picked would not have worked on. So, I'm going with the alternative of buying the new appliance on my own. Unfortunately, I have to order it and it's not gonna get here until another week or so. But I'm very happy with the company. In summary, I'm very happy with American Home Shield. I tell many people who I work with and friends that I've used it. And whenever they complain about some issue or problem, I tell them, “Well, I don’t have to worry about this. I pay my annual fee and I pay a deductible if something goes wrong and I'm happy.”

    I submitted a claim to AHS because of the flexible air conditioning ducts in the crawl space. There was a company that came out first but they refused to do the job. They said the ducts were functional when they were not. The insulation on the outside of them was coming off. But they don't sell the ducts without the insulation and the home inspector has gotta have the insulation on. That was Comfort First and I was very disappointed in them. So, Comfort Max came out and they were awesome. They followed through and executed the job. They kept me informed and they were timely and very professional as well.

It was easy but it would have been better with an app. Then, Samuel & Sons came out the next day. He flushed out something and it prompted an emergency shut-off and it eventually turned back on.     There was a time when I had a leak in my bathroom and there was water and moisture under the carpet and the closet in one of my bedrooms. Filing the request to American Home Shield was easy to do online. They have a very good interface. However, if a policyholder is not computer savvy, they would have to call on the phone and AHS only has certain business hours. Some of those hours are on Eastern Time so if the policyholder is on Western Time and they have to get somebody on the phone, it's really difficult because they're not open.

    While I've had a very good experience many times with AHS's contractors, I had a horrible experience with the first one that came out. They sent that company when I had a water heater problem and their techs said that I needed to replace it. They also said that the replacement was covered but then there were modifications that needed to be done to my line which was gonna cost me $600 or $700. When I went ahead and did it, I paid to get two different opinions with two different companies. Both of the plumbers, in writing, stated to me that there was no modification on the lines necessary.

    With that information, I called American Home Shield and I said that I don’t wanna go with the company they sent because I have two other opinions and they’ve told me that all I need to do is replace my water heater and they can just put it in. However, AHS didn't care at that point. They said that they have the right to pick the contractor ‘cause that’s what the contractor had said. So what I ended up doing, in that case, was I ended up having them pay me for the water heater at their price. I had a large water heater and they said that they were only gonna pay me what their cost would be. I understood, but it was less than what I needed to pay so I had to pay out of my pocket. They paid me $400-something and my water heater was a 50-gallon water heater at the time which was $800 or $900. Also, they told me I would be on my own for the installation because I wasn’t going through their contractor.

    I have since filed different service requests and anytime I get the same company, I cancel my request and re-file which is really a hassle. I have to keep canceling my request until I get a company that I think is not unscrupulous. I’ve read that this isn’t the first time this has happened to somebody with American Home Shield. I had obvious proof that the contractor that AHS sent was trying to defraud me and even with the proof in my hands, AHS wouldn't listen. Either they’re not investigating the contractors they work with or something’s happening. Most of the companies AHS works with, with the exception of one air-conditioning company that I've done one request with, have really poor reviews. If I call AHS to switch a contractor they just won’t do it. Now I'm a little more careful. I would not recommend AHS.

    Budget Heating & Cooling came out recently to fix the condensation that built up on my outside unit. I got a call from them within 15 hours after I filed the claim with American Home Shield and they came out the next day. They were in and out within 40 minutes and everything has been working properly. They’re a good company.

    But for the claim I had before in our lake house in Oklahoma, the contractor, AJ Mechanics, never called. I had to call. Then they never showed up even though I made an appointment with them. It’s a 3-hour drive to our lake house and my husband had to go the day before. We called, and they said, “Oh, well, we’ll talk to our guy. We’ll call.” I said, “Here’s my husband’s number. Please make sure you call.” And they never called. The claim was for a toilet that was overrunning and my husband ended up watching a YouTube video and fixing it himself. But I did ask American Home Shield to refund my money since the guy never showed, and they did. I'd recommend American Home Shield. 99% of the time, I've usually had very good experiences with them.

    Wright Appliance Services & Repair was the contractor American Home Shield sent out for my washing machine and the actual serviceman was very nice. But their help desk was very uncommunicative. I had to repeatedly call them back to see if the part was in and when they were coming because I work and I had to block off a big part of my day. I could not get them to commit to when they were coming or if they had received the part.     The main line of our sewage was clogged. Submitting a claim for a repair to American Home Shield was super easy. I called to get a better reference of what I should do and how the process works. The rep answered all my questions and then I went online and proceeded to schedule the service.     My dishwasher wasn’t working properly with some part, and the service guy from J&W Home Repair had to replace a nozzle. I submitted the claim with American Home Shield online. It was easy. Somebody called me within two days. And I had to call them back because I didn’t answer the phone. And then, the contractor was coming out the next day or two, which was fast, but I wasn’t available. So, then, we scheduled it for four days out, and that was nice. It was on my time.

    I also had another experience with American Home Shield two years ago on a Thanksgiving where my refrigerator was going out. And I know the holidays are difficult, but I waited for a business day to have them come out, and they came out that week of when I called. And then, they realized that the refrigerator was kaput, and I needed a new one. But it took them five weeks to get a new refrigerator, around the holidays, which was insane. I had to call and say, “Come on, where’s my refrigerator?” They said, “Oh, it’s been ordered.” I got a little bit of a runaround, and I’m very patient, but five weeks without a refrigerator was a long time. I also bake on the side. And thank God, I have an extra crappy one in my garage that I was able to keep things in, but it was difficult. And so, I was a little irritated with that one. But this time, they’ve been very nice.

    I also used American Home Shield at my other house. I had two air conditioners, one for upstairs, one for downstairs. And my air conditioner upstairs went out, and they were there fixing it but it didn’t work. So, they came back out and replaced the whole thing. It was in the middle of summer and I was trying to sell my house, so it was a pain in the butt but it was nice. Overall, I’d recommend them.

It took two days for On Time to be here. It has to do with air conditioning in the summertime and there were lots of issues. The air conditioning company even said they’ve been extremely busy.     I started American Home Shield about eight weeks ago and when I made my first claim online, I used some of the pop-up instant messaging back and forth with one of the reps that helped out a lot. The first guy who came out diagnosed one problem but he didn't identify the other problem. So, I was without working heating and air conditioning until yesterday when another technician came out from the same company and discovered what the actual problem was. It was something that was created by a previous HVAC contractor.

    My biggest concern is that I had to deal with heating and air conditioning contractors who were about an hour and a half away from my house. I had no experience with them at all. There's a lot of really good HVAC contractors in my area of which I know one of them and worked with a lot of them. I was disappointed to have to give the work to somebody from another community. Also, when I pay for something, I get a list of what it is they fixed. There's a bill that comes to me and I know that they replaced this or that. It would be helpful to get that. I got nothing. I got a phone number and the place that came out to work on it but I don't really know what they did.

    Recently, I filed a claim with American Home Shield online and it was very easy. I've also submitted a request by calling but I prefer the online one to some extent. When I do talk to a representative, it's because the issue might be a little more complicated or I feel there needs to be some more explanation and I don't have that option in the online part.

    We have an older furnace with a rollover switch that was tripped. AHS sent the same people that have been out here a couple of times. They're not very personable though. When the contractor came in, it was like he was annoyed that he was here. I opened the door and he didn't say anything. But the work has been good every time and every time they come, they fix the problem.

    So the contractor said he reset the switch and that he was gonna replace it to see if that was the problem. But I'm surprised that I haven't heard anything about this extra work that's supposed to be done. I'm a little frustrated with that. It's been two weeks that someone would've made some kind of attempt to contact me. Although we haven't had any more problems with the furnace since the contractor left, I feel like it's a matter of time before something else happens. It's an older furnace and this is the fourth or fifth time in five years that we've had someone come out and service it. But other than that, my experience with AHS went pretty good.

    I submit my claims to American Home Shield online. It's quicker and easier and I don’t have to wait for business hours. I had a claim for my washing machine which was leaking water. The contractor replaced the hose that was repaired last time. Then, for the leak in the bathtub, it was with the spigot. The first guy that came out was a day and a half late. But I called the plumber and they sent a different guy out who was absolutely perfectly delightful. I also got a plug in my bathroom that just quit working and I wanted an electrician to come out. A licensed contractor was supposed to be sent out but the guy who came out was just a handyman so I canceled that order. If I put another order in for that, I gotta have a licensed guy come out. That just makes me feel comfortable. Other than that, everything was fine with my experience with American Home Shield.

    C&R Plumbing had to come out for our air conditioning problem. They were able to come out within 48 hours after I filed my claim with American Home Shield. I was impressed the contractors' knowledge of what they were doing, and they were able to do it in short order. As a matter of fact, they got both air conditioners working in a span of about 30 minutes. Since then, the air conditioners are keeping me cool.

    When the capacitor in my AC failed, I submitted the claim for it online and I found the online process 100% easier than calling in. I've called American Home Shield before and it was horrible. I couldn't understand the lady who was talking to me and the first thing she said was that she needed $75 before she could talk to me about any issue that I had. With this more recent transaction, I was very happy with American Home Shield. The contractor, BW Heat & Air, also contacted me in 24 hours and were at my house 24 hours after that. They were great. He was very kind and we’ve had people that have not been kind in the past. He diagnosed the problem. He came downstairs and explained to me what he was gonna do, and he took care of the problem.     AHS denied the claim on my pool heater saying that it broke because of a chemical imbalance. I had been spot on in keeping the chemicals in my pool balanced. Otherwise the heater wouldn't have lasted over 15 years. This was a typical excuse by AHS to deny the claim on a 2500.00 item. The pool people that came out to look at the heater even told me upfront what AHS was going to do. If you have a pool heater that needs replacing, get ready for a denial.

    This company claims they will cover appliances and and home systems when they fail or something goes wrong. They tell you you pay a certain amount monthly and then a service fee once you make a claim and they will handle it from there, but this is not the case at all! My A/C went out and the company (Total Air Care) they choose btw didn’t come out until a week later. They told me they will recommend a condenser coil be changed. It took AHS another week to respond. Once they responded I was inform that they would cover the charge to replace the condenser but there would be some additional non covered charges totaling $781.

    To replace the condenser only costs $727. How is it that the customer ends paying more out of pocket costs than the company for what is supposed to be “a cover repair”. Then when I called to complain they give you some crap about your contract stating this and that. This company is a scam and full of crooks. I would not recommend this company to anyone! You have been warned!!!!

    Military family in Michigan writing. DO NOT BUY into American Home Shield (AHS). Learn from our mistake. They replaced our oven with a MUCH lesser version (replaced a Viking with a GE) ... delivered it, but never removed the broken one to INSTALL the lesser version. This started in JANUARY of this year. In July we sold our home and the (non working) Viking oven is still in the house with the GE still in our garage. We've moved out. Now AHS wants to CHARGE us a fee to cancel our service. STAY AWAY from AHS. They aren't worth the hassle!!!

    Updated on 07/26/2019: After giving a 1-star review on July 6th (only because I couldn't give zero stars), the response was that they would look into it. As I expected, there has been no follow up and no response. This company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I canceled my account because they won't abide by the contract and won't force the incompetent subcontractor to finish the job they were hired to do. I will never do business with them again, and I urge anyone reading this to go with any other home warranty company. Don't use AHS.

    Original Review: I had a water leak from an unknown location. When the plumbers arrived they found it was outside (I had to pay the plumbers), but they cut a one foot square hole in my drywall on the inside of the house to complete their repair. The technician that AHS sent to repair the drywall did not repair it to a rough state. The drywall is pushed in so that it is not even with the rest of the wall, and there is drywall tape still exposed. I have tried twice now to have this corrected, but AHS refuses. I sent pictures, but that did no good. I asked to speak with a Supervisor, but there were "none available." This is the worst drywall repair I have ever seen and the worst customer service I have ever seen trying to get it rectified. If I could give zero stars I would.

    I called AHS on 6/28/19 to ask for service to repair a/c broken. AHS charged me $75.00 for a service call and said I would be contacted in 24 to 48 hours. NO ONE HAS CALLED OR CONTACTED ME FOR THE REPAIR YET and it's 1 WEEK LATER!!! WHY??? Ironically the HVAC repair that was asked to come to fix the a/c is called Fast Response, lol. Not so fast at responding are they?? This AHS warranty is a waste of time and money.

    I would recommend you stay clear of this company. In the past they have charged me for services by a company even though the company never showed up at my house. It took some time to convince AHS that I never received a service call. I paid my contract until the end of the contract then called and said I wanted to cancel my contract AT THE END OF MY CONTRACT which was about 6 days later. Again I was paid thru the end of my contract period. Now they are trying to bill me for early cancellation fee.

    The person I talked to said I called and cancelled my contract early which I did not. I said I called early to notify AHS that at the end of my contract I want to cancel it. The person on the phone must have cancelled my contract early. Of course there was no refund for paying thru the end of my contract and now they said I owe more money for cancelling early. Also, the contract they send you every year does not state there is an early cancellation fee. Lastly, they send out companies that most of the time you have never heard of and the service is not always up to par. Caveat Emptor!!!

    The kitchen switch keeps tripping whenever I use the current coffee pot. It was not all the time but a lot of the time. It will just click it off. The contractor who came out through American Home Shield was here for two minutes. He just checked the breaker panel and he was really nice because he said that it was typical for me to have the thing go off all the time. He took the top of the breaker panel off of it, looked at the wiring, tightened all the wires, and then put it back on. He was very professional. I also had a claim with AHS for the dishwasher, and it was good. The contractor had to replace the panel that was not working.

    The fan motor had been making a lot of noise and there were complaints from other residents. In addition to that, it appeared that the unit was running a long time and it seemed to be not catching up. I called American Home Shield and OSA Heating & Cooling came out. I had terrific service from that company. They replaced the fan motor and that solved that problem. It appears at the moment that it's actually functioning better in general. Everyone has said how it's not making noise the way it was. I also had plumbing issues. That was the first thing that I had to call American Home Shield about. The plumber who came was also terrific and had to be creative on some things here. He absolutely took care of it. I certainly would ask for those folks again. Also, I've recommended American Home Shield. I've been very, very happy with it.

    My house doesn’t cool down. It was 85 degrees in my house. And it’s only June and July, so it’s only gonna get worse. It was easy navigating the site of AHS to submit a claim. The first time, it said the contractors would contact me within a certain amount of time. The second time when I said that it’s still not fixed, it said that they couldn’t contact me, and then I had to contact the contract company myself. But nobody had tried to contact me.

    The first time, the contractor was professional. He said that there was nothing wrong with my system and that I needed insulation, and that would basically fix the problem. I had two inches of insulation and I was supposed to have like 18 or 20 something inches. So, I took his advice. I had 13 inches of insulation blown in two and a half weeks ago, and I walked into my house two days ago and it was 85 degrees. So, I don’t feel like that means that my air conditioner is working properly. And some days, it’s 85, some days, it’s 76, but my thermostat is always on 71. So, it’s always on and it never turns off until about 4:00 AM when it finally hits 70 degrees.

    This is the first time I’ve ever had AHS. I’ve had a pretty good response time when the contractors are coming out. The companies have been pretty flexible with coming out when I need them. But so far, getting stuff fixed, with the air conditioner and my garbage disposal that I filed two claims on back-to-back, those two issues haven’t been resolved. I’ve called both contracting companies, and the air conditioning people are coming out on Saturday, and then the garbage disposal people are supposed to be getting back with me. But it’s been three weeks since that guy came out, and I needed a brand new garbage disposal ‘cause a screw or a nut came loose and was down in my garbage disposal. And he’s supposed to replace it, but I’ve had no contact with him for two and a half weeks. So, I don’t know if the part came in and I don’t know what’s going on with it, but my ticket got closed out on the website of American Home Shield.

    We had no cold water going to the washing machine. The valve was bad. We filed a claim online to AHS for the repair and it was easy. In less than 24 hours, Boss Plumbing came and their tech had to cut into the wall to make the repair. Still, he was neat and tidy about it. He set it up in such a way that when we have the washing machine repaired, it would be less of a hassle. He also replaced the hot water valve of the washing machine so that way, we wouldn't have to cut into the wall again. Since the repair, the washing machine has been working.

    I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for my refrigerator. Their rep was very helpful and she knew what she was doing. However, I had an issue with the outcome. While the contractors were pleasant and informative, it seems that to get something done, I have to keep calling. I have to re-call and eventually, something will be replaced. It gets to a point where it seems to me that not until the repair people come out five, six, seven or eight times does the issue get resolved. The repair company’s hands are tied because they can only go by what American Home Shield tells them.

    I had a toilet whose tank at the top was leaking. I called the claim in and the person was very helpful and courteous on the phone. In fact, I haven’t encountered any problems when I've called in to American Home Shield. The contractor from BC Plumbing came the same day or the next day, and he came early. He had given me a call and said that he had finished his other job. He asked if it would be okay if he would come early and I told him yes. When he got here, he explained everything to me and from the way he described what he was gonna do, he even went one step further than what was necessary. He told me that a washer between the tank and the bottom of the tube had gone bad, and that he was gonna put another washer in there plus another bolt to ensure that it wouldn’t leak again. It has been working perfectly since. So far, I’ve been satisfied with American Home Shield and I’ve had them for about seven years. Give them a try.

    The price point is good and the coverage is pretty good. I live in a place that came with original appliances so it really made sense to have the contract. I would not give it up, for sure. I've had it for about 10 years now and it's really helped me over the years with little things, like the ice maker, the dishwasher or the disposal in the sink. When it was air conditioning stuff, it was a little bit harder to deal with just because it was the dead of summer when I had a claim. But American Home Shield did the right thing and I ended up with my service back in play. So overall, I would recommend to anybody to have this service.

    Most recently, I had somebody come to look at my washing machine and submitting the claim online was very easy. But every time I have an issue with my air conditioner, I have to call because I have to have a specific kind of contractor. I need one who has a 36-foot ladder and not all of them do. So I can't just look online. But for the most part, my interactions with the representatives have been very good. American Home Shield sent out DC Appliance Service for my washing machine but it depends on what Home Shield wants to do because it looks like I need a whole new washing machine. The technician had come, looked at it and said he doesn't know. He said it would cost so much to fix it, I might as well get a new one. But I haven't heard anything back and it would be a week by tomorrow. I don't know if I'm supposed to call someone or what. I paid for the service visit and now I'm waiting.

    I had a ceiling fan issue and when I was dealing with American Home Shield, I told the person numerous times that I have 22-foot ceilings and to make sure someone brings a ladder that can accommodate the height. She sent somebody out and charged me $75. The guy gets here and he doesn't have a ladder big enough and he can't work on it. I called AHS and the rep made a note to make sure the next guy brings a ladder long enough. She said the guy confirmed and they were gonna bring a ladder. When the guy got here (an 18-year-old kid who smelled like pot), he also said that he didn't have a ladder big enough. He flipped the switch on, turned it off and said that my fan motor's blown.

    When he got back to his office, he said they couldn't work on it, so he ended up getting $75 from me and AHS had to send out somebody else that said they'll have to rent some scaffolds to get up there. After I paid $225 of service calls and wasted four months, American Home Shield finally lets me know that they don't cover my ceiling fan because it's on an unusually high ceiling and it's part of the terms they gave me. This would have been good to know when I told them in the first phone call that I have a 22-foot ceiling. I got the ceiling fan repaired myself. AHS has a maximum amount they could spend for ceiling fans, which is $175, and they couldn't even credit me that amount back.

    When my filter was broken, I submitted a claim over the phone with AHS and the reps I dealt with were fine. I spoke to Joe in the Philippines on Thursday then I talked with Aloha the next day, Friday. She said that the tech would be out in 48 hours, so I had to wait until Tuesday. But on Tuesday, nobody called me. So, I called AHS again and this time, I spoke to Jessica. That was when I found out that the contractor called our house phone instead of my cellphone. Apparently, Aloha didn't follow my instructions and gave the contractor the house phone number, which we don't even answer. We just have it for the internet. At any rate, that was when I finally got the service scheduled and the tech from Expert Pools came on Thursday. That's a turnaround of about a week. I also asked some questions about why they were sending me someone from College Station to here, which is pretty far, and the address they gave me was about 400 miles away.

    Other than that, the guy from Expert Pools who came out had serviced our pool before and he was excellent. He was very straightforward, too. The guy I spoke to that did the arrangement asked me to send photographs of what I thought was making the noise and said that they would have the right parts. So, I just took a picture of two big motors thing as I didn’t know what was going on. Then the tech who came out made sure that he had parts for either one. So, I was totally satisfied. Plus, they would have to drive for another two hours to go back and get the parts if they had to. I was also surprised that we got the same company for our pool claim because when I'd call AHS for the air conditioner, I'd get a different person every time and I'm not satisfied with that. So, I don’t even use them for my air conditioner anymore. All in all, I was very satisfied with Expert Pools, but not as satisfied with AHS.

    My well pump went out and I spoke to someone at AHS to file a claim. She was friendly and helpful. But I thought they were going to replace my water filtration. The company was willing to do it but American Home Shield said I was not covered.     I contacted American Home Shield by phone and they were great. A-1 Quality Care are still coming out this morning. I've had an issue with my unit and it is not fixed yet. It’s been five days in Vegas with heat. It’s a big mess. A-1 came out last week, and they thought it was my thermostat. They replaced the thermostat and then it didn’t work. It was still doing the same thing. And then, the next day they came out and thought it was my compressor. So then, they ordered a compressor. And then, they came out on Friday and put in a new compressor and it worked even less. So then the supervisor came out on Sunday morning, and we thought we may have it figured out. They should be here soon this morning to do something with a coil. Other than that, everybody’s been great.

    AHS sent a vendor who replaced the existing air conditioning unit with a new one. After one week the new unit malfunctioned. AHS sent the same repairman three different times. He was always late or was a no-show. AHS refused to assign another vendor nor did they want to replace in the new unit which was obviously a lemon. I do not recommend AHS.

    Not the first time, but I will only address the latest disappointment. We have the service on our rental condo, protecting most everything including the air conditioner. Our tenants notified us of a problem with the air conditioning, we called AHS and were told we would hear from a contractor within 24 hours. No response. With 100 degree plus days it is important for a quick response. We called again and were told it wasn’t scheduled yet, it was as if they forgot. With multiple days above 100 our tenant had to find another place to stay, then found a contractor to fix it for $350. We paid that, but wonder why do we pay AHS?

    Filing a claim with American Home Shield is fairly easy because you tell them what’s wrong and they’ll email back or call back. They’ll say they can schedule an appointment and usually, it’s within a day or 2. The latest issue was a drain line going to the septic tank. The people who have come out have been very knowledgeable. They know exactly what they’re doing and how to do it. They came in and cleaned it all out. They said I got tree branches there. They showed the damage that was done and they fixed it. Everything has been going pretty well with it.

    Our air conditioner wasn’t cooling so I called American Home Shield. Once we talked to someone on the phone, it seemed like within minutes, we had an email confirmation. Then, Pure Air HVAC sent my husband a text message when they would be available to come out. The tech, Frank, came out within the window that he said and he was so kind and so professional. He far exceeded our expectations. It was extremely hot and it was a holiday and he treated it as though it was a normal business time of the year. That was great and, to me, unusual.

    The tech dealt directly with my husband the whole entire time. And when he was done, he came inside to where I was in the dining area and explained everything as though I would understand.     We had an air conditioning issue with the furnace up in the attic. The condenser line had torqued off there and it filled up the pan, which didn't drain properly and it leaked under the ceiling. So, the air conditioning needed the condenser line hooked back up and the pan done right. We submitted a request with American Home Shield and they sent John Hudgins Plumbing. But there was miscommunication because we got a call after the contractor got out here. He said that the unit needed to be moved and it was gonna be a $2,700 charge. And so, AHS denied him. So, we called back and when AHS called us, they said that there was a foundation that somehow shifted. We just bought this house. My structural engineer was just here six months ago and didn't say anything about the structural foundation moving so we knew that wasn't going on. Once we figured that out, the reps were really rude on the telephone.

    A lot of the communication problem was due to the Indian accent that everybody seemed to have. It was very difficult to understand and they couldn't understand us very well too. We got hung up on two or three times while put on hold when we were just asking to speak to a supervisor. They did not want us to speak to a supervisor but once we did, after an hour of work, the supervisor was awesome. He took care of everything. He said, “We’ll get a second estimate out there. We’ll get a guy out there to fix that air conditioning unit so it’s back running and you guys don't have to sleep on your couch anymore downstairs". He set up something with Holley Air Conditioning Company and they came out. The service guy hooked the condenser line, glued it back on there, fixed the pan and we were good to go. They fixed everything to where it's running now. Also, the second bill is much more reasonable and AHS will take care of it.

    But we don't like dealing with people who feel like they need to lie, especially when they lie to our face and we know it’s a lie. It’s irritating and it’s bad ethics. I would not recommend AHS to anybody at all and I hope we never have to deal with it again. I’ll be glad when my $470 I paid for the year is up. But big props to their supervisor, I appreciated him. He deserves a raise.

    The phone call for my recent claim with American Home Shield was a nightmare. I put my credit card in and paid my $75 on their automated thing. But then, I got a human thereafter, and they wanted all my information again. I told the rep that I just gave AHS my information and that I'm not gonna pay them again but then he said that they don't have my payment. It didn’t make any sense to me whatsoever that he wanted it all again so I didn't give it. I ended up calling my American Home Shield rep and he said I would still have to call. So, I ended up giving AHS my credit card number again which I thought was a waste of time.

    Still, the contractor who came out thereafter, OKC Appliance King, did well. That time, I had an issue with my four-year-old fridge. It ran out of ice. But then, the problem was actually my error as the water wasn't turned on to the ice maker. It never occurred to me that the ice the first week or two that I was using it was the same ice that was already frozen from before. All the tech had to do was turn the water on and we were good.

    This is the first time I’ve ever had a home warranty. As a Realtor, I get asked about home warranties all the time and people wanna use them. I was really hoping my experience would be more positive in making the claim. Maybe it was just a fluke that I had a bad experience trying to make a dang connection, but that’s where the problem was. It was just very frustrating having to deal with that kind of stuff.

    My garage door completely stopped working and I submitted a claim with American Home Shield over the phone for the first time. I was gonna do it online but it required payment in advance, so I called the service representative instead. Even though their rep was nice and efficient, it could've been better. I had to go in and get a ladder and tell him the model number of the garage door's motor, which was unnecessary. He wasted off time there.

    I also had the same issue when booking for the appointment with Sam's Garage Door. I work from 8:00 to 5:00. I was trying to get an appointment for the service guy to come and check it either early morning or in the afternoon and they were not willing to work. They said it would either be 8:00 to 11:00 or five-hours window. That was a little bit disappointing. Other than that, they do come in. And the guys they sent out did an excellent job. They came in and the repair didn’t take much. And the garage door seems to work fine now. They also said that there was a 60-day guarantee from the time they fixed it and that I could call them if I'd have any problem.

    This dishwasher was leaking once we ran a load. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and Appliance Wizard came out pretty quickly, all things considered with the holiday. They made the recommendation to replace and we were provided with the worksheets on what we can replace it with. So, we will be looking at that here over the next week or two.     The pool pump and heater weren't coming on and the timer was off. I called American Home Shield and Backyard Pools called the same day and made the appointment at my convenience. They came out two days later and the tech was very knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and speedy. He had whatever he needed and he was able to open it up and repair it. Every time I've made a claim, American Home Shield has someone come out and repair or replace the parts. I've never had to call back for the same issue twice.

    The claim processing by American Home Shield was excellent, and the customer service I contacted helped me out right away and gave me the right instructions. But I have some of kind of dissatisfaction with the amount of time to complete the work. I have my water heater broken last week on Thursday evening. This water heater is one of the essential appliances in the home. Our family had to live without hot water for almost one and a half weeks. They said that it would take almost one week to satisfy our installation and replacement of the whole water heater. If I go with the contractor, it will take one week. If I go with their brand, it will take one day. It was a big difference. For their brand, I had to pay out of pocket for $11,090 or something like that. I opted to go with the contractor and they fixed the job off 2 hours ago. The people are very nice but I’m totally upset about the total time it took to actually finish it.

    I had an issue with our bathtub. I called AHS and the contractor made the appointment. He came out, and they needed to order the part so they had to reschedule. And he came back with the part and tried to replace the water valve, because that was the problem I have. But it did not work because a day after I came to do observation the thing was glued, but it was falling off.

    So I called and reported to AHS that it was not properly done. They sent a guy to come and quickly fix it, but the guy just came, took a look, and then said he was calling it to somebody else. So, two other men came by and fixed it. And those two men, they had to go back and forth trying to find the right part. There was something that was very hard to secure. But overall the problem was eventually handled right and fixed, so I’m still very happy with American Home Shield.

    The contractor that AHS sent was very good. He explained to me, came on time, and it was good. The only thing with AHS is the waiting time. I did the request on Thursday and they sent the contractors on Monday. So we waited for three days. But everything looks good.

    A couple of weeks ago, I called American Home Shield and they sent the Total Air Care people out here for the AC that wasn't blowing cool air. The tech went up there and emptied the pan. We thought that he had fixed it and the unit was blowing a little cool air. But my husband had been monitoring, going up there and emptying the pan. Then, the unit started leaking through my ceiling. That was when I called American Home Shield back and told them. They sent somebody and the tech claimed the pan wasn’t leaking. He took pictures of my ceiling. He was supposed to send it in to American Home Shield and I called back to see if I had missed their call because they said that they were gonna call me. I talked to a really nice gentleman. He understood what I was talking about and he said that they were going to call me. They were supposed to call me and they were gonna call me immediately right after he hung up but I haven’t heard anything yet.

    This has been going on for about three weeks now. They came out first and then it took four to five days. Then, it took about four to five days for them to get out the second time. American Home Shield has always been good to help and send somebody out. These were the first people that I ran into that either didn’t know what they were doing or didn’t care. The main thing I’m worried about now is my ceiling because it’s an eyesore. You look up there and you see this old, nasty, brown water where it has leaked through. I expect American Home Shield to do me right this time by making their people fix my ceiling for me.

    American Home Shield sent out A1 Quality Care and they analyzed my problem with my air handler in the ceiling. They replaced a part and now it works wonderfully. Everything was also great in making the appointment with the contractor's rep on the phone and I was very happy with the two techs who came out. The repair went really quickly. They had the part they needed in their truck, so they were in and out in an hour and everything's been working fine since. I also have no issues with American Home Shield. Things went very speedily and I was very happy with them as well.
