We noticed that the compressor on our AC wasn’t running, and it continued to flip the breaker every time. So I tripped it back, and it would try to start up and just flip the breaker again. So, we ended up leaving it off and going through American Home Shield to get Kingwood Air Solutions to come out. They were able to come out the next day, and put in a fix that at least got it running. The tech said that it would run for some time, and then, he said the next time that it failed, we’d probably have to replace the compressor, but this could last a good amount of time. So, we were happy with the service. Kingwood Air Solutions was great. They were really friendly and trustworthy. They were really honest and knowledgeable about what they did. They gave us the honest truth about whether we needed to replace or not. Overall, I'd recommend American Home Shield.
Whitney,
We strive to provide you with a great team of contractors and an even better customer service experience. We hope you continue to enjoy your AHS warranty!

I had an issue with my water heater where the pilot light wouldn't stay on. I called American Home Shield and they set up an appointment with a plumber to come out and check on it. They identified the problem, but since the water heater was too old, they couldn't source the part. This means they would have to replace the water heater. That wouldn't be a problem except that because the home is older, there were some things that needed to be added to bring it up to code, and I would have to pay the extra $800. I understand that bringing things up to code is not covered in the policy and I have no problem with it. I only had a problem with one thing, earthquake straps. We have earthquake straps on the tank currently installed, but the contractor has to replace them when they put in a new tank. This is a minor part of it and only cost $60, but I wanted to find out why, if this has to happen with every new tank, they wouldn't cover this.
I called customer support and the only thing the person on the other end of the call kept saying was, "Do you want to pay the $800 to replace the heater?" Or, "We cannot replace the heater unless you pay the $800." I asked to speak to a manager and over the course of the 35 minute call, one was not available. I also asked to speak with the authorization department and was told that they can not transfer me, nor give me their number.
After this, without asking me, the rep told me "Since you aren't going to pay the $800 I'm going to cancel this order and you can look on your own to get this fixed." I never said I wasn't going to pay the extra. I told him specifically that I was willing to pay, I just wanted this one item explained on why it isn't covered. He then told me that it was covered by my homeowners insurance. He seemed throughout the call to have no concern over my issues and no knowledge about how any of this works. This has been a very exhausting situation and it was not made any better by the customer service I received.
I hate to here that your water heater claim has been a pain. I just sent you an email as I would like to assist with a resolution. I look forward to speaking with you.

I recently received my renewal notice from AHS. The price for coverage went up, despite not using the service so I decided to inquire into the procedure for not renewing. I called the company, and asked about the renewal increase. I was not pleased with the answer so I asked about renewal to which I was told since I had a credit card on file it would automatically renew. I indicated that I plan not to renew and to remove my credit card from the file so I don't get another auto deduct after June 23, 2019 the end of my current contract. This is where "pay attention" The telephone rep said," I will submit a cancellation notice"!
I was then charged another month's payment as a cancellation penalty. I wrote 3 emails and called 3 times only to be told I was a liar and that I canceled the contract. The unprofessionalism and lies exhibited by this company is wrong and should be shut down! I called Washington State Insurance Commissioners office for help but they were no help at all. Buyer beware!

I have no complaints about how they respond to claims. We've had to file a claim twice and both times they sent someone within a couple of days and fixed the issue. But their customer service is horrid. We signed up to pay monthly but instead were charged four months at a time (a total of three payments during the first three months of the year). I called and spoke to someone who promised he had fixed our payment schedule to pay monthly and that we wouldn't owe any more until October. But after that, I got constant calls and spent a few hours on the phone trying to get them to switch us to monthly payments to no avail.
After nearly two months, I finally gave in and paid the last payment. But the kicker was that the last bill sent indicated that we owed the full year's amount and ignores the first two payments (covering eight months out of the year) we had already made. What a bunch of imbeciles. Avoid this company. Just don't do business with them. Find someone else.
I apologize for mixing up your billing Sarah. I just sent you an email to make sure your issue is resolved.I look forward.

Made a claim ticket 1/8/2019 for dryer and fridge. Never heard from anyone. Called back in to AHS, they canceled that ticket. Made a new one for 2/7/2019 with new appliance company. The new company was punctual. Diagnosed the fridge needing a new compressor. Dryer needed sensor element. Both items' parts were replaced. Dryer still didn't dry clothes, they replaced another component on the dryer still didn't fix the problem. AHS took another two months to decided what they wanted to do in regards to the dryer and finally decided to replace it.
When discussing the replacement of the dryer they want to offer me a lower priced GE dryer white. I have a LG grey. Very frustrating as the washer matches the dryer and when talking this over with them she just kept quoting a statement over and over again. Also repeating, it is not up to them to replace color or model per their contract. The 7 page contract that we are all suppose to read online. All I am asking for is a reasonable amount so I can replace the dryer that I currently have. I pay my monthly fees and it should be fair that they offer me a replacement on the same appliance I have now. We are still going round and round with them.
Onto the fridge it started making a loud sound with the smell of Freon. The fridge was removed from our house twice, repaired brought back. The appliance company asked us to continue to contact them if there was further problems. Which we did thru the whole course of these past 6 months. Additional 5 times the appliance company came out the last time being May 21st. The fridge started overheating to the point you could not touch the outside of it. Reaching temperatures of 170 degrees, and after contacting the appliance company again with no responses we called back in to AHS to be told we should have been calling them with every problem.
After 2 1/2 hours on the phone Thursday June 20th repeating the story of the past 6 months they finally agreed to send out a new company. In those 2 1/2 hours they finally got a hold of the original appliance company who requested for AHS to send out a new technician. AHSagreed without no additional service fees. Well on Sat June 22nd the fridge again went out.
We contacted AHS on June 24th only to be told that no work order was put in on Thursday - that they needed a paper report from the old company so AHS could process a new work order. I am so over the stories of AHS. Who would like to go six months without a dryer or fridge to continually get the run around. I pay my monthly fees where is the same respect in return. Living out of ice chest seems to be okay with the appliance company. Trying to summarize in to words all the frustration we have had to deal with these past six months is impossible. So much details I have left out.
Good afternoon Tabatha,
I understand your frustration in regard to the delay in service to have the refrigerator dryer repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and assist with a resolution to get the repairs completed as soon as possible.

We have a washer machine that recently started to make noise so we called our home warranty company to help assist with our repair. Initially they sent out one repair guy who basically went back and reported to the home warranty that we abused our washer machine. The next day I receive a call from the home warranty company and they themselves thought that sounded very strange so they called in a second opinion with another technician. Before that technician came out I was able to find out from that company that the previous tech that came out to our home had a reputation for this type of report because he was only interested in collecting the service call fees. She went ahead and scheduled for her husband to come out which he did yesterday and he basically went back and told the home warranty company that this was not due to wear of the machine and should be given back to the manufacture to cover this item.
My question at this time is how can you have thousands of customers all over the world and basically have a home warranty in place and not even coming in to identify the actual problem, just say "oh it sounds bad." When the corporate office called me, a gal named Holly she basically said that American Home Shield can not be liable for actually diagnosing a problem if it basically works even if it sounds bad or like it may not be running properly.
I told her, "That is exactly what you told us last year" and come to find out because of that we almost had an electrical fire in our kitchen due to a faulty garbage disposal that we called in several times before you decided to fix the item. Even though we told the AMS on more than one occasion that we smelled smoke every time we used it. Their exact response to that was, "well our technician came to the house and when he used the item, it worked for him." So I guess it's normal to have burning wires in your kitchen appliances.
Good morning Terrece,
I hate to hear about your most recent experience and the delay in service to have the washer machine repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved.

Plumbing issue involving replacing faucet and pipes to tub. Plumber finally came out to assess the issue and said, "Would be back in touch to schedule repair." Never heard from anyone, called back, waited on hold close to an hour, spoke with representative on phone who is very hard to understand... Seems they said, "Would call a different plumber," since for some reason the first one couldn't do. Still no call, no repair.

I filed a claim for my pool pump that began making a loud grinding noise suddenly. The noise was not present when I purchased the warrant from AHS. The noise sounds like a loud electrical hum on the inside of my home or some type of construction occurring outside. At the pump, the noise is louder, of course, and clearly indicates that the device is in distress.
When you file a claim with AHS, you cannot provide any details about why you are requesting the service. The claim filing process only allows you to pick a device, such as a pump, washer, etc. So there was no way for me to describe the issue. But I had to pay my deductible of $125 to file the claim. This is clearly a way to easily go out on service calls and get paid without regard to whether or not it is actually required. The first bad sign.
When the tech arrived, he asked what was wrong with the pump, which was running. I described the issue that the the pump started making the distress noise a couple of days ago. The pump is about 16 years old. He did not deny that there was a noise that was out of the ordinary, but said that AHS would not cover the issue because the pump was still working (pumping water, not hot, etc.). My thought: And who cares if it is noisy and you can hear it in the house now, and it is annoying. It's still functionally working, right? So the tech left after about a 10 minute visit from end to end.
I contacted AHS and explained the issue in the same way as there was no detailed report from the tech on the website, only that the claim had been completed. After about 20 minutes on the phone trying to plead my case, the AHS rep stated that, "Generally, they do not cover this." There is nothing in the contract to that effect. There is nothing even generally that I could find in the contract that would let them off the hook. It basically stated that the pool pump was covered. I also stated to the AHS rep that when I purchased the contract from them 7 months ago, the pump was NOT making this noise. It did not matter, they were just not going to cover it.
So in closing, pretty sure that I will not be renewing this contract with them at the end of the year. There are no details on the website of my claim, or anything that happened. No detailed report from the tech. Nothing. It's just claim "pool pump" and "complete". So there is absolutely no other information to fall back on. A rubber stamp if you will. Very disappointing.
Good Morning Troy,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

Please be advised. Based on my experience, DO NOT USE American Home Shield. They will collect your premiums and then offer no resolution to a warranty-related problem. They wear you down with tests, return visits, another opinion, another company, another service tech, take photos, wait for authorization, until you fix the problem yourself. Specifically my claim is for an air-conditioning unit that hasn't worked since April. As with any insurance type product, the company is only as good as its response to your claim. Buyer beware.
Good Morning Becky,
I understand you were not happy with the outcome of your experience with AHS. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

And they are going to charge me for the refrigerant $500, without giving me a guarantee on that refrigerant. So basically if the technician did a lousy job and that refrigerant get bad, then I have to out of pocket $500 again. This is my first claim after 3 years with them, now I'm exploring other options.

I called last night because we had a water leak inside and outside our A/C unit. We had AHS for 15 years in Maryland, and 3 more years here in Florida, never had a problem with them before but the customer service that is provided at this time appears to be overseas and they just read their manuals and when you ask for a supervisor, they are not available. The contractor that they provided me, can't provide me service until Thursday. We're live in Florida and the temperature this week have been in the 100's almost every day, so we need our A/C specially for our kids. I explained customer service about the urgency of the issue and their solution was not to charged me for the service I won't received from their contractor. I explained that I found a contractor that can give me service today, and they told me that they won't reimbursed me because he is not one of his contractors.
I asked for the list of their contractor to contact them directly and verify who could give me the service (something I had done in the past with AHS), and they said they can't provided me with the list that can give me services. Really?? I went from the phone to the chat expecting someone with more knowledge and hoping be in USA, but no, again apparently overseas. So, I can't let some people without knowledge prevent me for receive the service I urge in my house, even when I pay my contract for service religiously for almost 20 years. This will be the end of my relationship with AHS for their poor customer service. It's a shame that a good company like this had change their customer services.
Good morning Maria,

Our air conditioning stopped working. AHS sent a contractor to diagnose the problem. A transformer and controller board were not working. AHS called and said the house had to be hit by lightning and they would not cover the repair. The contractor said he did "NOT" say the house was hit by lightning. I had another contractor come to the house. He said it was highly unlikely that lightning hit the house since in every case he has seen, lightning took out computers, phones, TV's, etc, as well as air conditioning units. Nothing else in our home was affected. Only the air conditioning unit was broken. AHS is a total ripoff. In addition to not paying promised repairs on the air conditioning, when I cancelled the contract, they charged me a $50 cancellation fee, which they did not tell me about when I cancelled. I am trying to get the cancellation fee back. I am submitting my complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
Hester,
I am sorry that we were not able to offer a resolution that you were pleased with while the contract was active. We hope this experience does not deter you from considering AHS in the future for your home warranty needs.

The technician from K.T.M. Door Control came out and completed the work on the garage door. It was the same company that had done this a few years ago. So that claim went very well. The chain had slipped off the track so the garage door wasn’t working. But the thing was fixed within 30 minutes. Because the person that showed up knew what he was doing, never have I ever had to call back within the warranty period. That was a simple thing and there are lots of companies that know what they’re doing out there. If American Home Shield sends out somebody who knows exactly what they’re doing then the problem gets solved. The only times that I've ever had problems is when the person coming out looks at the issue and says they had never seen one of those before. And that’s very frequently what happens.
I also don’t have a good experience when the company that’s doing the work and the person that I’m talking to in American Home Shield are at odds with each other or not communicating. I've had two or three such occasions. American Home Shield basically requires me to communicate with the service company and the service company requires me to communicate with American Home Shield, putting me in that unfortunate position. One would say they're waiting on information from the other company. So I would have to call the other company to ask whether it's really true and usually, they would say they're waiting on the other company to provide the information. It’s a he-says, she-says type of issue.
I have one of those going on right now, which is very irritating to me and it’s been going on for six weeks now. That’s unreasonable, isn’t it? It started out as a fan in the air conditioning system not working but it has evolved into needing to replace the heater and a lot of the ductwork. And I’m astounded that the service company is putting me in this position as having to call. They will not communicate with me. They said they will but they don’t, and they’re one of the best companies that American Home Shield has on their list. Usually, I can stay on top of it and although I don’t like to do it, there’s no easier way to get to anyone else in American Home Shield and say, “I don’t think you guys really wanna have this going on.” The problem in American Home Shield too is that every time I call up, I get a different person and all they can do is read what has been entered into the system. And their system, sometimes, doesn’t get updated every time.
I used to be with one of American Home Shield's competitors and there was the same sort of problems. They all seemed, for the most part, in the air conditioning and the heating thing. The reason for that is that the individual companies that they all have on the list cannot service all types of air conditioning and heating systems but they pretend to. When filing claims, the only ones I do online are the ones that don't require a special technique or capability of the technicians. It is a simple thing and it's much easier. The companies are all prepared to handle any problem that comes up. But if the work requires something that not every company can do then I talk to an actual employee of American Home Shield. Still, issues sometimes arise where the person answering the phone has no concept of why not every particular company can do it. Nonetheless, I do recommend American Home Shield as being the best to deal with.
I am pleased to hear about your American Home Shield experience and the technicians that serviced you.

When our garbage disposal was not working, I was able to use my phone and send a request for service to American Home Shield which was super easy. It said that I would be receiving a call within the next 24 hours from a service provider. Then, they told me who the service provider was and I received a text. It seemed like a request was sent out and the contractor responded that they would be calling me for an appointment time. The two men came when they said they would and they were efficient. Everything went great and for a first-time user, it couldn't have been easier.

The second time he came out, I called them back. I didn’t have to pay another $100, and he saw that it wasn’t working. The house was hot so he ended up putting some type of seal to stop the leak. He said the coils were bad. He added two kinds of Freon. It’s cooling now, but eventually, one day, I’m gonna have to get it fixed because I don’t think that’s just gonna fix the problem. I’ve been reading reviews and stuff. I don’t know if it’s gonna last or not but just me talking to other people, they were saying it probably won’t. I've subscribed with American Home Shield. I've used them a couple of times recently. Basically, only thing that happened was when I used them for AC, the AC contractor came out, looked at my system, told me I needed a new system. So, I just paid the $100 just for him to tell me that. And I had a feeling that might have been what it is 'cause I was asking him about that before I actually agreed to pay the $100 fee. And then, recently here with my garage door, the same thing happened. So, I'm paying a $100 fee each time I used them. People are coming out and telling me I need to replace stuff. And the programs that I'm getting, I can get it without being a member of American Home Shield. So, it isn't actually benefitting me. I think it expires soon, and I probably wouldn't re-up. They have to order the parts and hopefully within the next week or so, we'll have some resolution.

The AC clogged and the pipe clogged and all the water came out and popped up the floor. I got in touch with American Home Shield over the phone to file a claim. It was a long time waiting for somebody just to answer the phone. But once they answered the phone, they sent me somebody. However, the person they sent didn't do the job well. I called them because I didn't know where the leak was, which unit it was, or what happened. And they came for the water heater and the AC. It's in a closet. And when I called AHS, they said they had to send two different people to see which one was. I asked if I had to pay for both and they said I had to. In order to answer the insurance, I needed to know what was going on.
So, they sent a plumber for the water heater. And then he just showed up and then he said, "Oh, yeah! It's the water heater" because he saw water in the tray, but the water was there because the tray was cut, and the water came in there. He didn't even see the water heater. He just saw the water, and he said it was the water heater and we need to replace it. I told him he had to make sure that it was the water heater because I didn't see water coming from the water heater from anywhere. I told him to check the AC but he said he doesn't do that. And he just said somebody else needed to be sent because he doesn't know anything about it. And he sent me another company who showed up right away. I told them I needed somebody to come and check the AC. But they started installing all the fans and things like that, and I thought American Home Shield sent them. It was particular company. It was somebody else.
They installed the water heater and then the next day, American Home Shield sent somebody else to see the AC. And what happened was the pipe was clogged. He just put something to unclog it. But I had a big mess. All the laminate came up and they had to replace the full house. Also, they just finished a week ago because the insurance didn't cover everything. They just wanted to cover the spot where the damage was, but we needed to replace the whole thing because that laminate cannot be only one part. It had to be everything.
I called back to American Home Shield and told them, "You know what, I don't want to pay. You'll have to reimburse me the $75 you send me for the first company. They didn't do nothing. Nothing. He didn't even touch anything." But they said they sent them anyway. It's not fair that I had to pay for somebody that didn't do anything. He didn't know what was going on. And I was so upset for that.

The pressure gauge in the pump broke off. I submitted the claim online and it was a very smooth process. Almost immediately, I got an email from AHS telling me who was gonna be contacting me within 24 hours. Varner Spa & Pools called within an hour or two and the guy was out the next day. I thought there may have been other issues and so he looked at everything else. He told me what he was doing. He put a new handle on the filter selector on the pump. He also put a new handle on the pump dial and replaced a filter and then replaced the gauge. He was very knowledgeable and efficient. The repair improved the pump greatly 'cause we had to run it but it was wasting a lot of water so it was a big help. I was very pleased with the service and the outcome. It was a great experience.

I called American Home Shield for my washer that broke down and they sent a man to repair. He ordered some parts and when the parts came in, another guy came in instead of the guy who came initially. He said the washer could not be repaired and they ordered a new one. The guy who came to deliver the machine took like 5 minutes to deliver, install and take the old one away. It was amazing. American Home Shield is doing whatever should be done. I really like the service.

We had experienced a problem with our downstairs air conditioning system, and the first tech that was called out under AHS was an air conditioner technician. He said it was tripping a breaker, so he checked it out and determined that a compressor was the problem. We paid for a new compressor and then he came out and installed it. But the same thing was happening, only worse. It was not only making it chatter, but it was completely shutting it down. It wouldn't come up at all. So then, the same technician determined that it was probably an electrical issue. That was when we called back AHS and they called out a different entity. The electrical guy from Charles Bosch Electric came out to determine that the electrical was fine.
AHS called again the air conditioning folks that had first determined the problem. They sent another technician out and he discovered that the first technician misdiagnosed it and we discovered that he is no longer employed by the company. It was actually a bad compressor out of the box. So they ordered another and we're waiting on the final resolution for the HVAC downstairs.
We also had AHS in Nevada but we didn't have a good experience with there. But they're much better here in Florida. The claims take a little longer because of where we are. AHS says that they get their responding companies by zip code. But we're in a zip code 32024, and we have repair companies in that zip code. But AHS calls somebody from another zip code that is most of the time at least an hour travel time. The first time we have called out for a plumbing issue, AHS called a plumber who was more than an hour away in Gainesville, Florida. And he decided it wasn't worth his time or money to come this far to do the job. They ended up finding somebody here in town, which was fine. They did a fine job. So it doesn't make sense to us that they're not finding local companies who are at least within our zip code to respond to the call-outs.

I had one claim for the upstairs air conditioning unit which I made online and it was really simple. The system was getting mixed up though, so I talked to a young lady on the phone to get it set up. Airstar Services came out, checked it out the next day, said they needed a part and they had to get approval from American Home Shield. That took three days. They said my portion would be $1,800 and they were taking care of the rest, and I approved it. So, they took the payment and they were here the next day.
They replaced the evaporator coil and were very polite. They told me exactly what they were doing and how they did it. They were very careful with the house. They laid down a sheet so that they could walk in the house. Everything was cleaned up. And the estimated hours was right on what they anticipated. Once they got to work, I didn’t hear from them ‘til they were done. They were in and out like they said, and the AC is working. I've already recommended American Home Shield to people since it happened.

American Home Shield sent out Sears for our dishwasher problems. We had a few different problems with the dishwasher and they had to keep coming. It had to do with a part. Most of the time, the technician who came was the same guy and he was very good. One time, it was somebody different. But up to now, the dishwasher is not working right. The technician said that it was just the dishwasher. American Home Shield ended up paying to have it totally replaced with a brand new washer that got put in in January. It was not working right so they replaced a bunch of parts. He thought it’s just a really cheap dishwasher and he was gonna put that in his notes. Hopefully, American Home Shield will issue a new one.
With our dishwasher, our person didn’t show up three times. It wasn’t Sears but a different company. The third time, I called the contractor the day they didn’t show up. That had never happened before. The contractor was in a completely different state. I don’t know why they got issued to us. It was really weird. He said we weren’t in the system, but that was the number I was given. American Home Shield then sent Sears. Other than that, we’ve had good luck with American Home Shield. I really like them.

We have been American Home Shield for years, and we have moved a lot. And this time, we’re in Florida, and we have been very disappointed. I've had a refrigerator out for probably three months, fighting with it. Even so, AHS found an excuse not to fix what is broken. Another time, I had an issue with my pool heater and they look so hard to find an excuse not to cover it. A spring broke on my garage door and they found an excuse not to cover that too. I fought through all of their excuses and for that, they covered part of the cost but it still ended up costing me $500 to get the spring installed.
Though I have not been ecstatic about American Home Shield, our experience with our last claim was surprising. Our air conditioner was making a loud noise and the part that spins was not spinning in one of the outside units. I called the issue in to AHS and their reps were good about giving me a time when to expect their contractor. They got me in a rush 'cause I have an older mother. Ace Heating & Cooling came out and their tech was great. He told us what he was doing. All was great and Ace was probably one of the better contractors we’ve had called out. Since the repair, our AC has been working and cooling.
Thank you for your feedback.

When I had an issue with the ice dispenser, AHS sent out Allan Appliance Service to fix it and it was an excellent experience. But I had one experience that was bad. A toilet upstairs had a crack in it and it leaked which went down into the garage ceiling. It took about a week and a half to get it all fixed and that whole thing cost $4,000. I had to have part of the garage ceiling torn out, some drywall upstairs happened, then I had to find a new toilet and put the new toilet in there. It was a nightmare and I didn't get anything from AHS at all. The tech that AHS sent out kept having to find the parts and order them. It was an old dryer, so that was not good at all.
But aside from that incident, all my other experiences with AHS had been excellent. Also, I almost switched companies but we've had a lot going on here with my husband in the hospital, so I didn't have time to research it properly in order to be able to do it. And I didn't wanna go without an insurance for another year. So, I went and kept it.

American Home Shield sent out A-American Plumbing for an issue with the garbage disposals. I have two of them in the house. I have a downstairs kitchen and an upstairs kitchen. The garbage disposal upstairs was leaking profusely. If you would use it, the water would come gushing out and I have hardwood floors in my kitchen so that was a problem. I had to put a pan underneath the sink area. But there was no fixing that one. The plumber had to change the garbage disposal out and he was quick in tearing that one down and putting another one in there. He was awesome.
There was also a pre-existing problem that I wouldn’t have known about but he was able to make that line right then and there. That was probably also a part of why it was also causing some other issues in that particular system. He went on ahead and replaced that one hose coming from it, and he did all of that in a very timely manner. I was really grateful because I have hardwood floors in the kitchen that goes throughout this floor of the house.
Lightning striking the AC unit and causing havoc always seems to be the issue in this area. I thought that was what had happened with the garbage disposal downstairs – that maybe it took a hit and that it was probably on the same line. But the guy said it's not on the same line, that it got too clogged up and I didn’t know how to free it up in this particular instance. He was able to free it and clean it out. He also gave a set of instructions that was very helpful in preventing the issue from happening again and in making the garbage disposal work. I was very pleased with the service. The interaction with that plumber was very good and I would love to use him again at any point. He was very respectful and professional. I had also been given an expected time for him to come out and he was timely.

One of the burners in my oven was not working properly, so I filed a claim online which was fairly simple. The process is automated, so the moment you submit the request, you get an automated response. American Home Shield assigns a company to come out, and then you call the company to schedule a time that is mutually convenient. 1st Choice Appliance Repair came out fairly quickly and they were courteous. The guy said he would be there at 1 o'clock, and he was there by 12:55. Now everything is working fine.
The only challenge I have complained about is if you use the automated process, it's very easy. However, if you have a issue with a person that came out or if they don't have a schedule that matches yours and you want to change the vendor or the technician, the amount of time it takes to connect with someone is ridiculous. There have been times where I've been on hold for half an hour to talk with someone. And then if the line gets disconnected for some reason, you have to wait another half an hour to speak to a different person. But as long as you don't have to speak with anyone, it's very good. I've been using American Home Shield for a very long time and I would recommend them to a friend.

I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield when my air conditioner was not cooling and Legends Service Center was great. I had a good experience with them. When I have to call the general call center though, it sometimes takes you an hour to get through, which is ridiculous. But I never go online because what happens is that they would tell you the first name that pops up. Somebody said that there was a service guy down at El Cajon but that's 54 miles from my house. I said that I wanted someone closer and I wanted the ratings on them.
Sadly, I’ve had a number of vendors who came out and they were not qualified. For example, a technician from A Plus Appliance came out and he was not knowledgeable enough. Then, he lied about something with my dishwasher. I was loyal to them and I’ve used them different times over the last 10 years. I would not recommend them ever again. I had to get the customer service people from AHS involved and get another vendor out.

Way back in about May 27th, we had a problem with the air conditioner freezing up. The guy came out and put out the Freon. It was working for about two weeks or so and after that, it froze up. I called American Home Shield. They said they would send out the technician and he came out relatively quick to look at it. He said there was a valve that was freezing up that needed to be replaced and he’d have to order it. I didn’t hear from him until I called up which was a week and a half later and I asked him what was going on. He said that the air conditioner is very old. The part was on backorder. They couldn’t find it and they kept on looking for it. I waited again for another two weeks then I called and they were still looking for the part.
I called last Friday and they still couldn't find the part. The guy said that he would call American Home Shield and tell them what the situation is. He said that I would probably gonna need a whole new system but he doesn’t have time to do any of that. He was very abrupt and rude. It was just like no communication whatsoever. We were waiting for a phone call from American Home Shield and got nothing. Then we talked to American Home Shield and laid it all out. American Home Shield said that they can call someone else but I have to pay for it. I told them that was ridiculous so we talked to a supervisor. The supervisor said she would take charge of it. She said that they would call and let us know what’s happening. I got an email yesterday that said we're gonna be hearing from a new person.
Now, we’ve had this person install for us before. I called this morning because we’re going into a five-day, 90-degree heat wave and the guy said that he just got the claim off of the computer and haven’t had time to look at it. He said that he would look at it later and give us a call in the afternoon. He even said he’s very booked up. I haven’t heard anything yet and so I’m sitting here in the exact same situation I was on May 27th with absolutely no resolution to my air conditioner problem. I’m very frustrated. I’m very hot. I can’t even get prepared for work because I’m sweating like a pig getting ready for work and sleep is getting difficult. My partner had surgery, he’s stuck in the house and so he’s gotta deal with fans and the heat. Now I’m waiting for this guy to call me, not necessarily holding my breath though.

But today, when I really need them, I’m finding out that they don’t have enough vendors to cover summertime air conditioning needs. The problem is they just don’t have enough vendors. I put in a claim yesterday. I have an air conditioner that is not functioning. And so, the service provider that AHS assigned to me, told me they couldn’t get here for seven days. And AHS hasn’t assigned me someone else that can get here sooner. If AHS doesn't have any service providers taking care of business, that’s not very good service. In fact, it’s poor service. American Home Shield needs to step up their vendor relationships so that they can handle increases in volume. If you don’t have enough vendors, what good is it?

It was doing this last summer, and the previous company did something and said they fixed it. This summer, it started doing it again. The new tech had to come back out because they had to see what the problem was first, and then they took it all apart and realized it was the coil. The coil was still under warranty, so they called and it was a warranty through the manufacturer and they went and picked up the part. Then they got the part, came back out and fixed it. They were awesome and I liked them a lot. Everything seems to be fine now.

I submitted a claim online to AHS when our water was running very slow. When we're running the shower and turn on a faucet, the water almost shuts off. Also, if we run the dishwasher, we can't shower or wash clothes. Navigating AHS's website was easy. However, the contractor was unable to rectify the situation via our home warranty. He said it wasn't covered.

This company is very difficult to work with, call to obtain updates and answers and they do not care. They tell you they are sorry you are experiencing issues, but do nothing to resolve. I was told the contractor would be at my home last Friday, I took the day off of work and no one showed or called. I called AHS and was told they guarantee the contractor would be at my home on Saturday. Again, no contractor called or showed. AHS then told me it was an expedited, emergency call and to expect a call from the contractor on Sunday. Again nothing. Finally on Monday, the contractor arrives at 5:30, looks at everything, gets on the phone with AHS and leaves, does nothing. I have requested to speak with supervisors and given the runaround. When I do speak with a supervisor (first time ISA and second time Peter), they make promises that are not kept. I am still without service.
Hi Joel,

I rarely write reviews but I don’t want anyone else to waste $1000 per year on this warranty program. I bought a home that was 10 years old, the house came with a warranty and the first year I didn’t need to use. Year 2, renewed policy since I had appliance now 11 years old. Each time I had an issue...washer, dryer, dishwasher they would fix it but then it would break again. The companies would fix over and over and keep in mind you pay $75 each call so at that point could I have bought new for much more?
A year later, my pool pump breaks and they come out and realize it actually needs replaced....First time ever I’ve actually had them replace an appliance. But the problem is it was never replaced. The vendor claims it was on back order and after 3-4 weeks of waiting, my pool turning green and $100’s of dollars in shock treatment to keep my pool from growing too much algae, I had to go buy my own pool pump and install it. DO NOT wasted your money on this company. After several calls to AHS and waiting on hold for a manager, I never received a call back or got online with a supervisor.

Do Not Use American Home Shield. They have a great PR company does a good job for them only. American Home Shield contracts the poorest, least recommended contractors in each city. We can only verify our experience in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I would encourage everyone to look at the contractors that that are using. We wouls not RECOMMEND AHS x 1000. The A/C Contractor had 100s of review like like:
I hope this review prevents others from having to deal with unnecessary terrible work. I used this company through American Home Shield. Unlucky for me, this was the company to come out to “fix” my air handler which needed to be replaced after the drain leaked into it. I’m always nervous with who warranty companies contract with and this company is exactly why...technician Renaldo came to my house. Instead of replacing the walls of the intake, he cut holes in the existing walls and patched them because he was very lazy. He then did a terrible tape job which of course fell apart in less than 6 months.
When I called South Cooling, Yaima refused to handle the situation, refused me to file a complaint against the employee, and refused me to send her pictures of the terrible work that was done. She confirmed that South Cooling wouldn’t take any responsibility for their work and said I needed to go through my warranty company who only “guarantees” the work for 60 days. Of course she’s didn’t have an answer when I asked if their work should last more than 60 days.
This company is horrible and they disgust me. I work too hard for my money to be wasted, I hope you feel the same! I hope this helps honest consumers who just want a quality job down at their house! This company was referred by American Home-shield to tune up a perfectly good working AC unit, after the “supposed tune up” my AC no longer works. Called them again but no answer, called American Home Shield and have to pay again to send the same company out there. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! THEY BREAK THINGS NOT FIX THEM.
We requested to use a different contractor and AHS wouldn't do anything. We recommend you have a maintenance contract with the best A/C provider in your town and just stick with them. In the end, American Home Shield will cost you $1,000.00 just dealing with their shoddy contractors. The contractors are not vetted or looked at, just the cheapest are selected. AHS is a mid level scan. While there could be a couple benefits if your city has only contractors, if not you are pissing money away. It's illegal and deceptive business practices by AHS.

After the hot water heater broke and the toilet overflowed, I decided to get a Home Warranty on our rental property. I was hoping to get things fixed by reputable service people. I would let the Home Warranty company do the research to find the reputable repair people. I was hoping that for $400 a year plus the service fee, I would be able to get one thing fixed every year or so. Well that didn't happen. The exhaust fan on the stove didn't work. A respectable and professional guy came out, but he didn't fix it. I discovered that the vent to the outside was stuck. I unstuck it.
A year later, the kitchen faucet had an intermittent drip. When I fiddled with the faucet to show the repair man the intermittent drip, he said I had damaged the faucet. No repair was made. So, there is no easy way out of maintenance. As a property owner, it is best to select the repair man yourself and pay for the work. If you like paying a bill that gives you no value, then purchase an American Home Shield Home Warranty!

They had all day Fri to call/get a company, and didn’t (not quick). Wouldn’t even try call co with weekend hours. Called several times to resolve the situation. Finally they picked a company who told me they’re not qualified (not through) and Home Shield should know that & get a different company. How is that fair to the customer?? They said it's in the contract. SO if you have a lot of repairs, please read your contract to see what it says before your rate increases upon renewal.

I have been a loyal customer of AHS for over 10 years. Sometimes I was satisfied, and sometimes not. But the worst part was when I sold my house and no longer needed their service, they charged me a 50.00 cancellation fee. This is how they say thanks for being a long time customer, they screw you for one more $50.00 at the end. Keep in mind that you get nothing for the 50.00. You have to pay to get out even when you no longer have a house. I compare this unfair trade practice to going to Walmart and after paying for your purchase you have to pay to go out of the door.

Updated on 06/24/2019: I called today to see why it was taking so long for the company to come fix my air conditioning and I stayed on the phone with customer service for about 2.5 hrs and they would not let me speak to an operational or district manager. Whoever is reading this review, please be aware that they only publish good reviews. As I stated in my first review, my air conditioning has not been working correctly for 3 weeks. 1st person came out and they didn't know what was going on. Second person came out (a week later), and found the problem immediately. The is that I'm still having is that it's week 3 and still don't know if they are coming to fix.
Everyone is saying different things and I was told by company that it would be fixed by Monday. Well, it's Monday and my unit is not fixed. No one called me from companies to let me know what's going on. Everyone that I spoke to at American Home Shield were not knowledgeable on what to do from here. They could not get in touch with company as well. I also wanted my $600 back that I paid into my policy to call and pay for another company to come out. But all they offered me was $50 and a portable air conditioner that cost $100 that can't cool my 1400 square foot house. Whoever is reading this, don't use. This company is the worst at servicing and the worst at customer service.
Original Review: I have been a loyal customer for about 3 years and have paid into my warranty about 1500. Well if you have air conditioning problems, don’t use them. They choose the worst companies to come out and fix. It’s been 3 weeks and air conditioner is still not working. The company is the worst. You have to for an authorization number to even get fix. They don’t fix when they first come out. It’s 6/23/19 and still not fix. I’m switching companies when I get this issue resolved.

He troubleshot the dryer and he thought it fixed it, but it didn’t. He ordered a part for the refrigerator, and when he came back, he fixed it. Then, he did what needed to be done to the dryer. American Home Shield sent out Gulf Appliance Repair for our air conditioner after I made a claim for it. I did that online and the process was very easy. Technicians were out in about five days. They diagnosed the problem and they had to order a control board. It took another week for that to come in so it took a couple of weeks resolving the issue, but we understood. The technicians were good and they got the job done. They communicated adequately too. The air conditioner was the last work order that we had in that home. We have since moved, but I haven't had any complaints from the new homeowner that the air conditioner is giving them any trouble.

from Tri County Appliance replaced the circuit board. However, a year after that repair, the same issue started coming up, an error message. Submitting another claim for its repair to AHS was easy. I went online with their app and told them what appliance or issue I'm seeking warranty coverage for. The next thing I knew, I got a confirmation email.
Tri County's techs said that though they replaced one circuit board, there is one more in my dryer and sometimes, they don't communicate well with each other. They said that maybe the other board was out and that they were gonna order that part. I assume it was unavailable so they replaced the dryer. Thus far, I'm a very happy customer. I'll continue to use them as long as they'll have me. We have nothing but great experiences with American Home Shield.

Submitting a claim for the air conditioner that was putting out hot air was convoluted. Back in the spring, I signed up to American Home Shield's $75 air conditioning tune-up. That was in early March, and they assigned some guy. After a few weeks, I contacted him and asked when was he gonna come and do the service. He said I gotta wait for it to be warm for 2 or 3 days in a row. A few weeks after that, I contacted him again and asked when was he coming. I also told him that if I didn't hear from him, I was going to contact American Home Shield and get somebody else decide. He contacted me right away and said he'd be there Wednesday.
On Saturday before that Wednesday, the air conditioner started putting out hot air. So, I sent him an email and told him to come prepared to fix the air conditioner as it was not working at all. He didn’t respond. The guy didn’t show up on Wednesday like we was supposed to. He didn’t show up Thursday either. I didn’t call American Home Shield ‘til Friday. I told them the story. While I was on the line, the operator called this other guy. She said, “Well, he was rude.” Apparently, it's a one-man show and he put at the bottom of the pile the American Home Shield stuff. I told her to assign me somebody else, take off my $75 fee that they've already collected for the maintenance and put on a $125 service call. She did and the guy called me that afternoon and told me he could come and do it Sunday morning. I asked him if he was gonna charge me a premium for coming on weekend and he told me no. He waived that.
He did show up as advertised. He looked at it for a little bit and said it was down like 7/10 of a pound. The leak was so small that he was not gonna go looking for it. He put the Freon in. We were outside by the unit and it was kinda noisy. As the Freon went in, it became much smoother and quieter. He also told me that if something happens in the next 60 days and it stops working, then I get a free callback. He was a very nice young man who’s trying to make a go of in the business. Right now, the AC is working fine. It's an 11-year old unit and it has never had a problem before.
I've had the contract for around 8 years and American Home Shield has been as advertised. They were committed. They replaced my furnace this past winter. I asked some other people about it and they said they had the same experience. The guys came and replaced the furnace for a quote-free but there was $1,000 of other work to make it connect up. They did come quickly, but I didn’t really understand why there was $1,000 worth of connection work, and that the furnace that they put down there looks exactly like the furnace that they took out. All the connections are right there. It's not like they had to do anything special to climb up in the attic or climb some place and put stuff in. I thought that was a little bit high. But I had a guy from the neighborhood who everybody sing the praises of, and he came over right away and looked at my old furnace. He said the best he could do is $3,800. So, I was looking at the $3,800 versus the $1,000 and I took the $1,000.
Then we had our dryer worked on in the fall. The guy came and fixed the control panel like he was supposed to. But at that time, I told him when when it's on high heat, it kicks off. We put some clothes in there and it didn’t do it while he was standing there. Now, it does it all the time. I'm looking at this 10-year old dryer and thinking do I wanna spend another $125. Maybe it will just crap out completely.
I recommend American Home Shield to all my friends. The problem is that some of the vendors are not reliable. I hope they get the first guy off their list because he is not a nice person. He's not reliable, and he shouldn’t be getting any more of American Home Shield's customers ‘cause it's just very frustrating to have. Also, my brother-in-law in Ohio who got me on to American Home Shield told me they dropped him because he had put in too many claims. I didn’t think that was too cool. He's in a 25-year old house so that’s when things start having to be replaced.

I've had a contractor out for the plumbing, and he was really good, efficient and took care of everything. I had a good experience with the HVAC too.
The only not wonderful experience I've had with American Home Shield is their customer service. It needs to be amped up a little bit. For 2 or 3 months, it was showing that I had a balance on my account, and I called repeatedly to have it removed. It probably took about 3 months for it get removed. I was also guilty of not reading the contract in its entirety so a couple of things kinda caught me by surprise. A lot of things are only covered up to a certain dollar amount as well. If you have anything significant, you may think that it's covered, but it may not be. It may only be covered up to $800 or $1,000. Maybe I should have read the contract more closely but the contract states it would replace the wax seal around the toilet. It also states they won't lift a toilet, so I'm not sure how they're supposed to replace that if they can't lift the toilet. That's kind of a squirrelly one.

It is was my mistake for not reading the contract in details. Now I called in April, 3 and cancelled my contract, and they still charged me for April. I was not told about any cancellation fees, since I had a month to month contract. I kept receiving emails saying that I my monthly due are late and when I called in May 10, I was told that my cancellation was submitted, but not finalized and the agent did not say anything about a cancellation fee. He did not mentioned that I will be receiving a letter in the mail, and I did. I received it and it listed a cancellation fee. But nothing was prorated from April when I cancelled.
June 22, I called and I was told that the supervisor is busy and might not return my call. Might not? What kind of business is this, no prorating of fees and charges cancellation fee $42.55 on a month to month memberships (equal to monthly dues, by the way, $42.25) and if you need to talk to a supervisor, your call is not guaranteed to be addressed. I do not advise anyone to use this company.

He installed a part, told me what I would need, and he did it. Since then, the AC has been very good and fast. I always recommend American Home Shield to all of my relatives and other friends. I tell them to join American Home Shield before calling people out to come and service a unit that is having a problem.

It has been wonderful submitting a claim with American Home Shield. They are always good and prompt and they send out a good company. And I'm not wild about United Air Temp. They were not able to respond quickly. And they misdiagnosed everything and wanted to pull toilets. I kept telling them that the issue was outside with the septic, and they refused to listen to that. Also, the manager on the United Air Temp kept screaming at the technician to go on. He didn't care and charged the money for the toilets. So, that was uncomfortable. But AHS sent out another company, GSSN. The contractor knew exactly what was going on. He diagnosed it and fixed the problem. American Home Shield has always been wonderful. In fact, I have another home that I'm thinking about contacting them and getting contract.

I have been very, very pleased with American Home Shield. I've had them for about 3 years and they have been working like they are supposed to. When my air conditioner wasn't working, filing the claim was no big deal. I called, told them what the problem was and paid whatever fee I had to pay. I was contacted by the company they contracted with within a couple of days and they got it all taken care of. The process went smoothly. Then, when the air conditioner stopped working again, I called back and it was all taken care of pretty quickly again.
The contractors were very professional and very easygoing. It turns out when the air conditioner stopped working, it was something I had done. I had changed the thermostat out and rewired it incorrectly. And they were very, very nice about it. I would use them again even if I didn't have American Home Shield. It was a little weird that my contract came up for renewal right after I submitted the claim and suddenly my payment went from $48.99 to $51.99. I thought that kind of sucks that I filed a claim and my payment went up, but it could have been worse.

It was the week that was the hottest here, and our AC broke so I called AHS up, and they came the next day but, unfortunately, it was Memorial weekend. So, the guy came and took the part that he needed, and he told me that maybe he can help me over the weekend, but he doubted because everything was closed. After that, they kept calling us and telling us that they were trying to get the part, but it was kinda hard. So, we waited almost a week to get the AC going, but what it is, is what it is. They were out of their hands when they had to order a part. They're depending on somebody else. But they did their job.
The problem with Home Shield and one of the things that we find that is hard when you go online they don't give that many choices. So, you can't really explain what's going on. So, when the contractors come here to see what they have to do, sometimes they don't really know because you can't even write anything online to them. Sometimes, we prefer to do online. If it's not there, then we prefer to call them, so we can explain better. But I don't know if they're open 24/7 because sometimes things happen late at night. So they have to fix is whatever choices they have online. I know there's a million choices, but there should be a place where you can write and say what's going on, so you can get the service. But I haven't had a problem with them. Every time we call if we have a problem, they come and fix.
Nevertheless, the people that were here for the AC were very nice. They keep constant communication with us, and so was Home Shield. They sent us an email every two days to just update us on what was going on. They really didn't have to do anything. They could have just waited for Home Shield to send us and let us know when they were coming back.
Your feedback is more than appreciated! I hope you continue to enjoy your AHS home warranty.

I have American Home Shield with 2 homes right now and I just had 2 claims. One was an AC that was taken care of very promptly. It was just blowing regular air and it was not blowing cold air. The guy came out on a Saturday. Normally, they don't come out on a Saturday, but I'm not at that property during the week and he made an exception for us. He got the AC working fine. The other was a problem with a stove in Metairie, Louisiana and that was taken care of too. The guy called me and came out the same day.
I’ve been dealing with American Home Shield for 13 years. Things were a little bit different back then, but they made a complete turnaround. It’s fabulous and I’m very happy with the service. I would highly recommend American Home Shield for anyone looking for a company like that to cover their repairs. Out of pocket expense for an AC repair can be a minimum of $500 and that’s a big savings. It may happen or may not happen. When it does happen, you can be prepared. It’s peace of mind and I really like that. It would kill me if our AC went out and we had to replace it. It would be very expensive. But we don't have a problem with American Home Shield. It’s always covered and we don't have to worry as much.
Hi Gary,
I am pleased to hear about your American Home Shield experience and the technicians that serviced both your AC and stove.

Usually, American Home Shield's techs are pretty good. But then recently, I had an AC issue and I was telling their techs that the blower motor was going out. They kept saying that the issue was one thing or another thing. First, they said the ductwork was too small, so I spent $3,500 putting ductwork in. Then, they said it was something else. They finally figured out the problem was a coil in the board and the blower motor and they ended up replacing both. Still, I feel like they could’ve gotten the repair done a lot quicker. I got about $3,000 worth of repairs done and all it took was a few service calls and a little bit of Freon. Apart from this issue, AHS's warranty has been worth my while. That one repair alone saved me enough where it took care of three years’ worth of the home warranty.

The garage door wouldn’t open and close properly and it was getting stuck. We submitted a claim with AHS and sent out Smokey's to work on it. Submitting claims is fairly easy online but sometimes the response is quite slow in getting the vendor to come out. Sometimes they don’t contact us and we have to contact American Home Shield again. If the vendor doesn’t call, we call them, or they’re hard to get a hold of, or they don’t come out. But it’s usually the former.
I even submitted a complaint a year or two ago on one vendor who said they wouldn’t do the work because Home Shield wouldn't pay them properly for their parts and so forth. When I told Home Shield, they said that was incorrect. They shouldn’t say that. Also, some of them will try to do as little as possible and just get in and get out quickly. Some are better than that though, so it varies. But AHS needs to work on their vendors a little bit and demand better service from them to their customers.

There was a condensation pump in the AC unit that went bad. I submitted a claim with AHS, they sent out Myers Comfort Specialist, and the condensation pump was replaced. Myers has been fairly good. There wasn't much to the problem but we've had them before and usually, they'd call as soon as they could set up their appointment. The last time we had an air conditioner issue, they had problems because of the heat wave we had but they got here as quickly as they could. I have AHS for nine years now and so far, it's been very easy to submit claims with them. You call and tell them what your problem is, then they’ll say somebody will call you from a company. Usually that afternoon or the next morning, you get a call from that company and they set up a time to come out. All in all, we’ve been pleased with the service from AHS and I'd tell my friends to get their warranty.

I had started a load on my dishwasher and it was not even five minutes into the load when I noticed that I didn't hear it anymore. I looked at it and it stopped. It was not on anymore. I thought maybe it had blown a circuit. I checked the circuit, but nothing. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, but still nothing. I made a claim with American Home Shield online and I didn't hear anything back for like two days. I got an email but I didn't get any confirmation. That was when I called American Home Shield. They said they just got the service request through to Sears. But the soonest they could get to me would be on July 1st. I asked if there was anything that could be done sooner or if I could switch to a different person. They were finally able to get me a cancellation that Sears had for the 27th.
Before that one, I had a water leak under the house. After washing his hands in the guest bathroom, my husband said it sounded like something was leaking under the house. He had to go under the house and sure enough, there was a lot of water. It smelled really bad too. I don't know if it was sewer or if it was regular water. I put in a ticket online on that one. That was on a Sunday night that I noticed that. And just because it smelled funny, I called American Home Shield the next day. I told them I needed somebody here soon. It took them about a week to get somebody out here. But I think it's because we're in a remote area up in Northern California that we don't have a lot of people. The guy who came fixed the problem. The leak was off of the kitchen sink. There was also a plumbing line that was leaking.
But I'm not a fan of this personal provider that we had. I felt like we chased him around a lot just so we could get him to the house. My husband would tell him that he could meet him here at a certain time. The guy would say yes and that he would be there right at that time. But he would show up an hour later or he would send somebody else and it wouldn’t even be him. He kinda ditched my husband twice and my husband took time off of work.
Other than that, American Home Shield has been really helpful. They are amazing in trying to like get everything of ours fixed. They saved us this year. With the dishwasher, we had a vendor come out. But he technically still has a pending order out. We had our fridge go out before the sewer leaks. The technician had to order a part and he would be still coming back to fix it. When the dishwasher went out, he had seen that earlier in the year. I had a problem with it as well. We tried to get him to get the ticket.

We have paid for this service for several years, we had four claims. All were handled poorly!! Everything is always a major hassle so many hoops to jump through. It takes an act of Congress to get satisfactory resolution. You pay premium for the cheapest replacements they can find. Oh and don’t expect them to fix you air conditioning without a $680.00 minimum charge and that is not a replacement. We had high expectations and several good recommendations but believe me this was a lot of wasted money and so much stress and anxiety to deal with if you need a repair that you would be better off to take that monthly payment and save it and fix things yourself as we will do from this point forward.
They people on the phone are total liars, say what they think you want to hear!! When I canceled they even sent a letter saying no refund for me and no extra charge for them as I canceled 9 days after last payment and then sent me a email saying my account was going to be turned over to collections for a late payment. When I called she said it was an admin fee. Total rip off even though they sent us a letter saying NO BALANCE!! Glad to be done!!! Buyer beware.

I always submit my claims with AHS online. The process is simple and easy. But if there’s something wrong, I usually call and I like that they're available 24/7. Their customer service reps are always very friendly and they try to do what they can on their end to fulfill the services. The contractors that they send out have been good and I don't have any complaints. I don't like to have to call back because something didn't work or there was a misreading, but in the end, that’s my own personal frustrations.
Recently, I had a plumbing issue and AHS sent out Immediate Response Plumbing & Rooter Service. They put in a valve then left. After that, the guy from ASAP came out to do the toilet. He was very friendly, very helpful, and answered all my questions. He also did really well in explaining things and questions. He said that the water and the pressure wasn't accurate and that the valve that Immediate Response put in may not be working because the pressure was still high. So, he asked me to contact either American Home Shield or Immediate Response. I contacted Immediate Response and they came out to check it with multiple gauges. But according to them, it was fine. Also, the tech from ASAP is gonna have to come back and do the toilet because it’s not working well.
All in all, AHS has been good and it's worth it to have that coverage. I have them for about two years now and they're easy to get a hold of. I also appreciate that they’ll send someone out the second time if an appliance is still not working properly. It’s just sometimes, it’s frustrating having to get a hold and contact a rep if something’s not right. But when I call AHS for a problem, it pretty much gets solved.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since 1999 and I haven't had any bad experience with their contractors. At first, I didn’t really care for the fact that maybe somebody different would come out each time. But now, for the most part, every time I’ve called, it’s always been pretty much the same people for whatever purpose. For instance, the appliance company has been the same appliance company for the past 3 or 4 calls. Recently, I’ve had a couple of different problems with the microwave. It wasn’t heating so we had A1 Appliance Repair come back out. They replaced the base plate and it was still not quite perfect. Then, it just stopped heating again and they came out and fixed it so far. My daughter’s looking to buy a home right now. I told her for sure, she’s gonna get a home warranty. I have never been with another company to be able to really know, but I’m certainly impressed with American Home Shield's service.

American Home Shield has been great. I haven't had any problems, but I'm kinda stuck in between diagnosis right now. There was some water leaking under the carpet in my basement. My brother looked at where the air conditioning is and said that it was leaking water. So I called JG Services and they came out. They determined that the condensate pans had rusted through on the bottom, and it needed to be replaced. But they didn’t have a part, and I had to pay $40 for them to ship the part. The tech came back for his second visit, but the water was still leaking. I asked him about it and he said he thought it was something in the condensate pan. So, he put in the new condensate pans, left, and about two weeks later, there was more water. I called them back, they came for the third time, and they pretty much said that they believe that the drain in the back of the air conditioner was clogged. So, I needed a plumber.
I went back to American Home Shield and they sent out Grade A Plumbing. They took a look at the air conditioner which was running at the time, and they declared it as the air conditioner was shot. I needed a new air conditioner. The tech didn’t want anything to do with the situation. He just opened my closets and then left. That was concerning for me. At that point, I didn’t know who to call. They were going back and forth. There was a little bit of a communication gap there. I got on the phone with American Home Shield and talked to Jo. She was very helpful and she got both of them on the phone separately. Then she came back and explained to me what was going on. I found out through American Home Shield that they believe it is an underground pipe, and they wouldn’t be responsible for that.
At this point, it’s been very confusing. I did call an outside plumber, and they are supposed to call me this week when they’re in the area, and I’m going to meet them. It's very frustrating, because the water is coming in my basement. I wished that when they were checking out my air conditioner in the very first time, that they would’ve been able to tell the problem, and it wouldn’t have went on another three weeks. JG Services did a great job. But when I said that there was water collecting under the carpet and we passed over it, they could’ve looked into it a little bit more at that point.
But overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. I’ve had very good experiences. They fixed my air conditioner. They were timely. When I went on American Home Shield and requested my air conditioner to be fixed the very first time, I had an appointment in 10 minutes. And it's been a very, very good process with the plumber. I don’t have to worry about who I’m calling. I just go in there, and within 10 minutes, I know who’s coming. That’s been great. I’ve been very, very happy with that.

American Home Shield took care of us and never slipped on any occasion. When I have claims, I do everything online through their app or the web. I prefer that because calling takes forever. Unfortunately, American Home Shield had some bad companies in the past. We have three AC units for the house and two of them kept going in and out all the time. I was catching the contractors doing shoddy work. It looked like they were trying purposely to do something so they can come back out again so it’s gonna be triple cost. I told American Home Shield not to even try sending them back out to us again.
But there was always communication with American Home Shield and they would always resolve it. They always were on top of it, which was nice. It was not like they ever backed out on anything for us. There was even a point in time when we actually had to put a brand new system in. Then the recent contractor we got, Rapp's Heating, has probably been one of our best ones. In that claim, the AC wasn’t cooling all the time. It started getting hot and it took the technician a little while to get out there. But the guy they always send out is a decent guy. I had an issue with my stove, refrigerator, and washing machine. The stove was blowing the circuit when it went on to convection. The refrigerator was icing out, the freezer was icing over and leaking when it went into defrost mode. The washing machine was leaking and was also out of balance. It was creating a lot of noise when it went into a spin cycle. American Home Shield let me do it all in one claim. I did it online and the website was incredibly easy to navigate.
The original contractor was able to help with the washing machine. They immediately decided to give us the evaluation of value for the washer. They gave us the reimbursement on that because they said it wasn’t worth fixing. But I'm still having an issue with the stove. While the repairman was here, he used the convection and it seemed to work. I used it last night and it was still blowing the circuit. So I resubmitted another follow-up on it.
For the refrigerator, American Home Shield sent a different repair company out because the company that originally came out didn't fix Vikings. But the second company they sent me were no-shows on two of the appointments. When the third company came out, they fixed it immediately. Overall, everything was pretty much resolved in a month or so. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy American Home Shield was to use.

American Home Shield sent out a plumbing company for the leak under my mobile home. The tech's name was Dennis and he was here on a Friday for an hour in the afternoon and then he came back Monday for an hour again. He said that everything needed to be replaced to get under there. He said it was gonna cost about $15,000. I told him that I don't have that kind of money and I wasn’t gonna be able to afford it. He just shrugged his shoulders and told me that he didn’t know what to tell me to do. But he asked me if I had a credit card and he wrote my numbers down and he left. Then he cashed in on my credit card for $1,980 for two trips.
My neighbor came over in the evening and asked what was going on, and I told him about it. I've already been carrying in water for about three or four days. So the very next day, he went under my mobile home and he fixed it. He told me that the tech could have done the very same thing. I have all kinds of papers with Dennis' name on it and it's about 10 or 15 other complaints against him. I never would have let him in my door had I known that.
When the hot water heater gave out, American Home Shield sent out AM PM. The plumber was nice and he explained everything. He was polite as he could possibly be. The hot water heater had to be taken out, and a new one was put in. The plumber said that the bill was about $500 but if we got rid of the old tank, they would take $50 off of it. So we got the bill down to around $400. I started to write a check but the plumber told me that they wouldn't take a check. They would take cash or credit card. I told him I didn't have much cash then but I could over to the bank real quick. But he had other calls to make.
I was on the edge with using my credit card due to my experience with the previous plumber. The bank told me to not use the credit card, but I still used it. I talked to Trish from the plumbing company several times and explained that we don't know if the credit card payment will go through because the bank told me they might put a hold on it less than a month ago. But I told them that if it didn't work, then I would go to the bank and get some money. And I was surprised that the card payment went through. But then I got this overdraft yesterday.
Tony, who I consider as my second son, submits the claim to American Home Shield for me. I do not have a computer, but he has one. He had called in for me numerous times. Overall, I'm not dissatisfied with American Home Shield. But they need to let me know the cost when a claim is covered and the charges that I am responsible for. They should explain any other charges beyond the $75 that I pay monthly. For the water tank, Tony and my son called American Home Shield to double-check and make sure that we were doing what we were supposed to do.

I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and it was a simple process. It was just a single page form, so it was a good one. I was told when to expect the contractor, which would be 24 to 48 hours but it was very quick and I was informed during the process. The contractor came to fix the AC unit and they were professional and courteous. The repair got the AC working again so, that was very welcome during the very hot weather.

I called American Home Shield for service and they sent the contractor to repair a washing machine. He was a nice young man and he was professional. He evaluated the situation and had to order a part. When the part came, they called and installed it, and everything was fine. It was a better situation with American Home Shield than I have had before and that I am having right now with another issue.
I am having a problem with a plumber that they sent for a toilet issue. The plumber had been here four times and had not repaired the toilets in my estimation satisfactorily. The toilet does not flush completely and adequately every time. I don’t feel that I need to tell my guests when they use my bathroom that they have to be very specific on how they flush the toilet in order for that toilet to clear. It is not a new toilet and this has never happened before. When he left, he said that he couldn’t figure out why the toilet was still doing it, which was the problem. He said that he didn’t know whether AHS would send somebody else or authorize a replacement for the toilet. I have another one coming out tomorrow for a second opinion. So, evidently, AHS decided to throw good money after bad and send another plumber.

My overall experience with American Home Shield has been good. However, communications are very challenging at best when you need help resolving an issue. My AC has not been repaired for the past year and has never worked despite paying the service charge. It blows hot air. AHS assured me they would resolve this issue with the repair vendor but they have not followed up despite numerous phone calls. Many companies provide an option for a call back when they are too busy to accept a call. AHS could dramatically improve service by doing so. I did finally get to talk to someone at AHS last week and I was told that the repair issue had been closed out by another agent. This is highly disappointing and makes no sense as it is completely contrary to what I had been previously told by AHS.
Richard,
I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Customer Service representatives were not helpful when asked to provide further information on a claim and did not seem well trained. This led to multiple call in order to get claim submitted timely and repair scheduled. We were also misinformed on two separate instances by CSRs. Leaky pipe that was supposedly covered ended up costing $1,100 for minimum repair, in addition to the $125 service fee. Based on the experience, the warranty did not protect us from significant home failures that it appeared to cover based on the contract language.

Called American Home Shield for an appointment to service my air conditioning system. I had to call 5 times to get any response from a live person. Three calls resulted in a disconnection after holding for over an hour. The fourth call produced a recording that said they were too busy to take calls and I needed to call back. The fifth call was successful in getting a service provider assigned, after another hour hold.
The service provider assigned, Qualified Service Systems, allowed a 4 hour window to get to the house and they showed-up 2 hours AFTER their window allowed, forcing me to take the entire day off work. The tech. walked in, claimed he would "clear the drain line" and left in literally 5 minutes, saying if the leak was not fixed, call the office. The leak was not fixed, so I called the office and they responded that "the unit was inaccessible" but it was "repaired". Of course, the unit was NOT "inaccessible". They told me to call American Home Shield once again for another service provider if I wasn't happy.
After three more calls to American Home Shield, another service provider was assigned AFTER I paid an ADDITIONAL $100 service call fee...for the SAME issue. They gave me a "window" of EIGHT HOURS, requiring another full day off work. The technician came in and said he couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from and so he couldn't repair it. American Home Shield offered no resolution.
I called a local a/c company at my full expense, they came within a couple of hours and repaired the unit. So seven phone calls, two days off work and $200 in service fees (PLUS the regular annual premium I paid of $900), resulted in no repair by American Home Shield. One call, two hours and $150 to a local a/c company, and the unit was fixed. The American Home Shield service contract was FAR WORSE than useless.

I requested a quote and then determined that they were more expensive than other options and didn't have as good of coverage or allow for me to choose my own contractor (yes I know that is unique). In Alabama if you have an AC unit go out. You cannot wait 2-4 days for a warranty company to send someone out to look at your unit.... Anyway - the salesman that called to follow up on the quote stated to me 'you're not very smart' if you'd rather pay a little more on the back end in order to get a contractor right away that more coverage if you wait a few days. A salesman telling me I'm not very smart is a SURE way to NOT get my business...
Vickie,
I am sorry to hear that your initial experience with AHS was not polite. I certainly understand how that would affect your decision on which company to choose. We hope this experience does not deter you from considering AHS for your future home warranty needs.

Filing the service is simple and easy to do either by phone or online. However, trying to contact AHS after a service call or to ask why their service was denied payment is a completely disaster. Call the 800 number and there is not an option to request explanation of denial. Must go through billing. The foreign call center employees do not know what to do or say and only repeat your questions and continuously place you on hold while they “ask a manager”. I was hung up on twice and redirect 4 times. After my 5th call the agent sent me to a more informed woman who said she was talking to the ASL group who were informing her that the repair is not covered. Even though not listed in exclusions it was also not listed in covered items as well and therefore they can exclude it from coverage.
Tip for customers. Ask the contractor who comes to your repair to get prior approval from AHS for the repair. Make them call AHS to confirm. You have already spent the 100 dollars to get them there. They can take a few minutes to confirm repair. If not covered you now know and can get their estimate they will charge you. The service visit charge will be covered by AHS.

We never had the need to use the warranty and decided to cancel our contract. I called to make our final payment and asked them to cancel the policy. They gladly took our payment but neglected to cancel our contract. Then emails started coming stating that our contract wasn’t paid up to date. I replied back that I had called to cancel the policy and would not be paying anything further. Then they send a letter telling us that they were cancelling our contract due to non-payment. Today, I got a letter from a debt collection firm stating that they sent our account to collections. Assuming they record their calls they have proof that I cancelled my contract but are taking extraordinary measures to make this a difficult situation. Beware if you want to get out of your contract.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

My issues with American Home Shield are linked to the customer service experience within the payment department. I was charged for 2 service visits that never took place, one in February for a dryer and one in April for an A/C tune up that never happened. I had to do the research and realize I was billed for these two visits that never took place.
I spoke to a helpful employee who began the refund process for the charges, and within a few days I received one service fee refunded. So far, I have spent over 6 hours holding on the phone and getting the run around about the reversal of the charges. I was given an email address two days ago where I sent a detailed email, and proof the second charge was not reversed and I am yet to hear a response. The repairs to my home have taken a long time to schedule, and I have waited for a repairman twice that never showed up. If I do not receive my refund I am going to cancel my service because of the poor customer service.

American Home Shield sent out Appliance Experts when I had issues with the refrigerator ice maker, and the door in the refrigerator, and the water dispenser. They also came out to repair a noisy clothes dryer. The tech did a great job and he was a really nice guy. He fixed all of it. I was very happy with his work, and he came really quickly after I put in my claim. When I file my claim, I usually go by phone, and sometimes the wait time is kind of long. But other than that, I highly recommend American Home Shield. In fact, I just recommended it to somebody yesterday.

Our air conditioner failed and we went round and round with American Home Shield on the replacement. It was almost $6,000 and they said that they would cover that up to 1,500, and then they would not. When we talked to them, they said that any previous record of us talking to them wasn’t there. So, we asked them for the cash limit. They’ve done every kind of consumer trick to not take care of us. They put me on hold for 55 minutes one time, saying that they were talking to the repairman. I got on another line and called the repairman and asked if AHS was trying to call him and he said no. I called them back on a different line and told them that I have been on hold for 55 minutes, that I was talking to the repairman right then and they told me that they were trying to get a hold of him.
Instantly, the lady came on the line and told me that she had to deny the claim because the lines were underground and it couldn’t be replaced in that spot. They said that if we put them through the attic, that was considered an alteration. I said that it was exactly the same stuff and just going in a different direction. It would be so expensive to go underground that it precludes doing that. They said that because of that they would deny the claim altogether. I asked if they could give me cash-in-lieu and I asked that three different times. They said they would apply for that but they never called me back. I called them again and said that I wanted cash-in-lieu because the repair will be more than 1,500. They said that I haven't filed for it. I told them it was my second time and to file it for me. She said she would do that but she never called me back.
I called them again last week and I said I wanna do the cash-in-lieu. They called me back today, a week after that and she said that it hasn’t been filed. I’ve got to let it be filed and wait 48 hours. I said that it was my third time to file, so I would wait another 48 hours. Since May 25th, I've been without AC. I got an upper respiratory infection, I’m 67 years old and my blood pressure, in calling and arguing with them, got up to a point when I went to the doctor and they said that they needed to send me to the emergency room because my blood pressure was 190 over 98. I was about to have a stroke. I said that it was 100 degrees in my house and now I've got a upper respiratory infection from trying to live in this house without any AC in the whole house except for my bedroom. I can’t clean the house in a 100-degree weather.
AHS called today and said they would only give me $350 when they’ve got a 1,500 cash-in-lieu. I had to replace the whole air and if the repairman was able to do the line, he would have found that the condenser and the unit were bad. The rep said that their guy didn’t diagnose that. I said that I didn’t choose to replace it. I was gonna die without it and I could show them the doctor’s record where I went and where they recorded my blood pressure. They put me on hold, gave five different excuses and told me several different reasons why it was denied. I asked why they were giving me 350. The copper line itself would cost that much and the lines, not counting the Freon, was over $1,000. She said it was their wholesale amount and what they would pay the repairman. I said that I couldn’t buy it wholesale. They have to replace what I have to pay retail up to $1,500 because I spent $5,500.
I had the air man talk to their person on the phone when he was here. These were licensed air conditioning people. They couldn’t lie and say that my compressor and AC were out, and they just wanted AHS to pay for a new unit. He put in my line through the attic and discovered that both the condenser and the compressor had to be replaced. The rep said they couldn’t accept his opinion.
On the very first trip, their guy didn’t have the pressure testing equipment with them. So, they made a trip to just look at it. Then they made another trip with the pressure testing equipment and found that it was bad. Then they made another trip to try and fix it. When the repairman discovered that, he said that I had a bad leak under the house, but he could put Freon in and I would be able to run it for a while. I said I didn’t wanna pay $500 worth of Freon that I know was gonna flow straight out. That Freon wouldn’t have lasted a day and I was surprised that he would suggest that. That would’ve been a waste and I said that I didn’t wanna put Freon in it till it was fixed.
I did not accept the 350 and I told the rep that it wouldn’t even pay for the copper wires. I told her that I'll file a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau. Then, when I looked up how their standing was, they got over 10,000 complaints that have been filed with the BBB. I’m very dissatisfied because they lied on the phone and then, their technician wanted to put refrigerant in when everything was broken.
When I told them I wanted the technician to come out again, they gave me an appointment that was 10 days forward. They said that they couldn’t get him again until the 4th, which I knew was bogus because I’d already been through being on hold while they reached him and they weren’t even trying to reach him. Catty little tricks like that are not appreciated. Also, every time they talked to me, they would go through 10 minutes of verifying everybody and how they were related instead of addressing the problem. AHS have not lived up to what their warranty said it would do.
James & Beverly,
I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist you with your unresolved matters regarding this request. Thanks for your patience.

I have five properties with American Home Shield. I’ve been happy with them in other places but the one in Palm Springs is not at all a good situation. It’s easy to submit a request, but getting serviced, help out here is not easy. I’m probably not gonna renew with them. I’m gonna look into a different service. They need to be much more prompt with the folks that they use. The time that I submit the claim until somebody comes out to my home to look at the issue is a little bit long. It’s probably 3 days minimum.
For instance, I have a call-in right now. I had a plumber come out. I live in the Palm Springs area but the plumber that gets sent out is about an hour away. They don’t service this area except for maybe 3 days a week. The first guy that they scheduled ended up calling in sick. That was about a 3-day wait just to get him. The next one got rescheduled for about 3 days later so I went a whole week without having anybody here. And now, the guy came. He looked at the faucet and left 'cause they needed to order a part. It’s been at least a week and we haven't heard anything.

When Delta came, the claim was on the fridge, on the washing machine and on the dishwasher. The guy fixed the dishwasher and it was fine. For the fridge, I told the technician that I was not getting any water from it. He said the fridge was not closing. There was moist and it was freezing the water in the fridge. I asked him what could we do and he told me he'd go back to the company and he'd ask them. He came back and brought the strips. Water was still not coming and he said the electronic was not good. He was gonna go back and bring a new electronic. So he went back, brought the electronic, but it was not the same one as he brought it.
Then, American Home Shield sent me another company. The young man came, played with the fridge and told me the problem was from the pipes. He told me he was gonna write a note to American Home Shield for them to send me a plumber. I called American Home Shield and told them I had so many people coming in. The whole day yesterday, I was on the phone trying to explain to the lady what is wrong. At the same time, I had put another claim on my bathroom. The toilet wasn't flushing right and water was going through. Then, in my guest bathroom, the shower was dripping. Up To Code came and the technician said he was gonna go and try if he could find me pieces for it. For my guest bathroom, he said he was gonna try to find a piece of rubber for it. But I am still waiting.
My washing machine was leaking water and the clothes were not drying. The same guy from Delta wrote a note saying I needed the bearings to be changed. That will let the cycle go well and then the clothes will dry. He said he could not change them because he needed two people to help him. I asked him if he could talk to American Home Shield and see if they would allow two people to help. This guy disappeared then I got AG Appliances. The guy from AG Appliances said he would change the bearings and it would be fine.
I called AG after 2-3 days and asked when were they coming to fix. They said they closed my case. They could not deal with those things. American Home Shield doesn't pay them to do those things. I called American Home Shield back and the lady said she was gonna let AG Appliances come again. I asked if they were sending the same guy or maybe another guy who would know better and she said they were sending the same guy. So the guy came and he said it's the hose and bearing. I said, "Okay sir, would you please write them down for me?" He said he was not writing anything down for me. He also said if I didn't sign, they will not gonna come to my home anymore. I said, "Sir, the first time I signed for you, you didn't write anything on it." He said, "Well, we have to go back to my business and then they will decide what I should write." I told him I wanted know what I was signing, and I was not signing.
I have been with American Home Shield for over 27 years. My claims are all legitimate and I didn't do much claims. I had 4 of my neighbors who signed up with American Home Shield because of me. I don't market, but my marketing for American Home Shield is that you have peace of mind because you know who's coming into your home. You don't have to call somebody that you don't know. With American Home Shield, whoever comes in, I feel safe. The price goes up and I never complain. They're giving me a peace of mind. I'm a woman alone and I don't have anyone to to help me out. However, I am totally dissatisfied. So far, I don't know what is happening anymore.

I would recommend American Home Shield. Everybody that I talked to there has been nice. They help me out and they are the best. They were so positive and assured me that they would have someone on it, and they had. When they said they were gonna do something, they did it right quickly. They had people to call me within 24 hours. There is nothing wrong that American Home Shield is doing, it’s just the people that they hire out. Some of them are not professional and they can’t get the work done.
I’ve had Universal Plumbing out 3 times for my hot water heater and it’s still not getting hot. They’re just messing it up worse than it was. They used big pipes, tried to take the top off and do this extra stuff, and my hot water heater actually looks bad. They're coming back out again tomorrow to try to get me some hot water. They bought parts the people have been trying everything and it’s not working. I might need another hot water heater. A contractor came out for the AC unit and they said it was fine. So, whatever they’ve been saying, I just go along with it. American Home Shield keeps having people to come out. It’s getting cold but it’s just not getting cold as it’s supposed to. It’s summertime now I don’t know if that’s why it’s really getting hot.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for years and we’ve complained about companies that represented them in the past. However, Air Command, the company that came for the AC unit that was putting out fumes and not cooling, is the best company that we’ve ever had come out. They were qualified. They do good work. Their people are presentable so it was just a total 100%. In fact, we’ve never had any one to do that good of a job on our air conditioner. They replaced our thermostat and did a wonderful job for me. I was totally satisfied. This company is a larger company than most companies that service for American Home Shield. Therefore, they're better equipped and have more experienced people. In the Phoenix area, especially where I live, American Home Shield needs more contractors like Air Command.

I’ve had no trouble submitting claims to American Home Shield. I usually do it by phone. There was one time I couldn’t get through very well. I needed something done sooner. And I don’t think they could get providers as easy out here in Victoria, Texas. But the last time someone came, it was for the air-conditioning. And they came straight out here and took care of it.
When our oven went out, the contractors sent by AHS said we had to have a new oven, and AHS could not provide us with that particular oven. So they gave us an allowance. They gave us the choice of having a lesser oven or just an amount of money that they would give us. We took the money and hired our own provider. So that was easy. The next time, there was a plumbing problem and we were kind of in a hurry to get it fixed because we had guests coming in. And they were not able to provide anybody in the length of time that we needed it. So I just skipped them. It wasn’t a great big deal.
The third thing we’ve used them for is, recently, when we had an air-conditioning unit go out, and they were having trouble getting a provider. But what happened the first time, they lost the claim. And I called back 48 hours later, and they didn’t even have any record of the claim even though I had the claim number. They admitted they made a mistake, and then they got somebody out here the next day. American Home Shield is a good policy. I’m really pleased with it. I paid them for the premiums for the next three years by my savings. I paid $50 a month, and I think I’ve saved around $2,000. I would definitely get it again.

The AC unit was not cooling. I did my claim online and the process was great. There was no waiting on hold and it was easy to use. I usually assume that it needed Freon, but in the end, it did not need any Freon. The technician cleaned off the condenser coils and spent a good amount of time doing that, and the unit has been working fine ever since. He properly diagnosed it and did a great job.
After the fact, I realized that the R22 is going away so I called American Home Shield to try to find out what their plan is for that. The person I talked to about that on the phone could not give me any information other than that they would pay $10 of the Freon cost. So, I posted a review on Google, and the next thing I know, I got a totally complete answer about what their plans are and how to help me replace the Freon part of my unit when the time comes. Their phone support was not so good, but their online support for anybody who writes a review on Google was outstanding because they gave me an answer.

The contractors were very professional and have found the problem. Unfortunately, they have to come back because the problem isn't totally resolved. The first claim that I made was back in the fall in September for the furnace. They said it would be two weeks for somebody to look at it, and then another week to get the parts if they needed them. And I couldn't wait for three weeks. I've been a real estate appraiser for 43 years and it doesn't make sense to me. But besides that, it's been fine. I would recommend them. Then, we called American Home Shield and they arranged for Amigos Brothers to come out and look at the problem. The technician came out and he was wonderful. He addressed the situation. All he had to do was flip a breaker and replace the top element in the water heater, and it’s worked fine ever since. Amigos Brothers was great. The experience was surprisingly good because we had a very bad first experience and American Home Shield addressed the issue immediately. It was over a Saturday night, so first thing Monday morning, they had someone out to fix the problem.

There was an ETA on a time for when to expect the contractors out which was within 48 hours, and they came out within that promised timeframe. The technician assessed what needed to be done and that was taken care of. I still was charged though for the $75 fee. I could have probably just paid the kid 20 bucks 'cause it was really an easy fix and nothing needed to be replaced. But it was fixed so everything's good.

I called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative about my air conditioner. She gave me the information I needed and told me that my claim had been put in. Someone should get in touch with me soon. But the problem I had was how long it took them to get in touch with me. I called back to try to change and see if I could get another company to come out, but they told me the order was in. In getting someone else, they would probably have to reprocess again.
It took me almost a week to finally get my air conditioner looked at. I called on a Saturday, the day before Memorial Day. It took three days for someone to get in touch with me to finally say they could schedule me. Once they finally scheduled me, they kept sending me correspondences letting me know when the date was and when the people would be out. About a day before the technicians came, I was sent me the names of the guys who were coming.
The technicians were very professional. They came in, put booties on their shoes, and went downstairs. They asked me about the specific problem I was having. I told them my unit didn’t come on when we turned it on but I heard it click. They immediately went outside to check the unit first. After which they came back inside. They wanted to turn it on. Once that was done, they assessed that the air conditioner had a leak in it. They told me to call for the Freon. They then put Freon in it and from there, the unit was working. After about 15 minutes in, they continued to clean the coils so they asked if they could use the water hose. They then gave me an update about how old my unit is and the possibility of getting a new one. Things went very well. I'm satisfied.

There was plumbing issues with faucets and stuff that we weren’t aware of. There was a build-up of corrosion on the main valve in the house that we couldn’t shut off. So we had to submit a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. The plumbing company was here the next day and they did well. As a matter of fact, we hired them on our own for additional jobs.

I called in late May regarding an AC issue during a severe heat wave. After a contractor was dispatched to my house and I hadn't heard back, I called the contractor to see what the verdict was. They said they'd given their review to the approvals department, so I called customer service and after a lengthy wait was told that the decision was in the approvals process and there was a 48 hour turnaround.
A few days later, I called back again because I'd heard nothing. They put me on hold, told me they didn't have an answer, and promised someone would call me back. This happened for four more days in a row. The last time I insisted to be put through to a manager, and was put on hold for two hours. I tallied it up and the total I spent on hold with customer service that week and the next was ten hours. They bluntly lied to me many many times over, SWEARING someone would call me back each subsequent representative I spoke to.
Eventually, the only way I got in touch with someone was by dragging them on Twitter, again over the course of multiple days. It is completely pathetic. I've had three items in for service now and they've been just as useless each time. I plan to buy home warranties for the remaining 70+ years I will live in a home, and guess who is never getting my money again each year when I choose a warranty.
Joy,

We bought our home 21 years ago, and it came with a 1 year AHS home warranty. After the first year we decided to keep it in force. The next summer on a 109 degree Sunday afternoon the AC fails. AHS would not send anyone out as it was not an "emergency". Excuse me, no AC on a 109 degree Sunday in Tucson Arizona IS an emergency. I called a private AC contractor who came out and fixed the issue, and submitted the bill to AHS. After going back and forth with AHS for a few weeks, they finally decided to pay for the repair if I signed up for 1 more year of coverage. This sounded reasonable, and I did this. Fast forward 20 years. Now the same AC unit is on its last legs and fails again. The AC technicians they send out say "This unit is way beyond its expected life, and you need a new one. If you repair it one more time, the refrigerant it uses will be banned in the US starting next year (2020), and you'll be SOL when it happens again".
The least expensive AC unit available for a home our size was $7,400. AHS would not pay for the new unit, despite our being customers for 20 years. Their only offer was to pay for the refrigerant ($330) that the technicians would have used to fill it up one last time. We had to take out a loan to replace the AC unit out of own pockets. To be fair, their coverage of small to medium priced repairs has been generally adequate over the years (why they got 2 stars instead of 1), but a $330 offer on a $7,400 bill isn't even in the ballpark of being adequate. We had no choice but to replace a very old unit that would not have been repairable after this year. We are obviously very disappointed, have dropped them, and cannot recommend AHS anymore.

American Home Shield takes hours to call or contact. There is no email contact. There is no main office phone for complaints or to "escalate concerns" and no office address listed. The contact us circles back to same number. The "warranty" contract makes every effort to repair even 20 year old items and force those covered to deal with the lowest rated and many times the least competent of companies. Frustrations abound. Imagine repair of a 15 year old microwave rather than replacement. Imagine repair, and repair and repair of a 20 year old HVAC system and then working thru 3 contractors over 4 weeks during the winter with no furnace working. When replacement is finally authorized the company wants to charge for "code" upgrades.
When asked to escalate to a supervisor or have someone follow up from legal with why the replacement is not a replacement, you can't reach an individual. But weeks later get only a letter that says it was determined that code changes required additional equipment. Since the STATE LAW required the code change it's an "upgrade" according to AHS not covered by contract. Even when the language is quite clear that the warranty is for replacement when the product is not working and "broken". So, it's not that the replacement is asked for because of the new code, but rather that the replacement is because after 20 years it won't work anymore - even after all the attempts to repair.
Guess what, under the new code there are certain requirements that must be met for new unit. BUT AHS says, "Oh no, that's extra not a replacement." But the replacement is NOT allowed and no one has the old stuff and the STATE does not allow install with additional new requirements. Add to that the AHS won't warranty what the inept installer does, and you must use who they call unless you want to take a "cash out" which means for the microwave it was $50 rather than the $150 AHS had to pay for the old replacement part. After all the problems with heater and a/c units it's laughable that AHS never followed up with information requested. Bottom line I would rate this company a minus five stars AND would tell anyone to put the money they would pay for a warranty into a savings account instead. Then hire your own competent professional, because you will never get what you want or need from AHS.

We had used AHS since 2009 on a house we lived in and then rented out while we were stationed in other locations (being in the military). However, we just sold our house and called to cancel our policy. After being put on hold and routed through two different departments asking if we were sure we wanted to cancel our policy (on a home we no longer owned), they told us we had to pay a $60 early cancellation fee! I can’t believe this is how they reward loyal customers who have been with them nearly 10 years, even when the prices have gone up over $140 each year since we first started. It’s crazy to think you even have early cancellation fees when it comes to selling the home. Just another way to nickel and dime their customers!

Our air conditioner unit was not shutting itself off and it just ran constantly. We had a company come out through American Home Shield and I was not very impressed with them at all. They didn't act professional. I felt like I had a couple of guys coming in to my house that I hired off the bulletin board from somewhere. First, they looked at the thermostat and said they needed to change the filter. I said that we just changed it not too long ago, but we could do that. He said that if we changed the filter, it would probably make a difference. Then, they went outside. I didn't go out there because I have a really bad knee and I’m in a wheelchair so, I couldn't just hop out there to see what they were doing.
The guy said that he washed the unit off really good. The unit itself is new and we just bought this house a year ago, so I couldn't imagine that it would be that. That was all they did and they didn't go up in the attic to check the other filter up there. Since it's cool down here, it seems to have reset itself to run like it's supposed to. The contractors didn't act like they cared to do a whole lot and they were a half hour late. I appreciated that they came out but they need to get some manners.
Everett came out for an electrical outlet and the gentleman who came out to do that was the same guy who came out when our garbage disposal needed to be hooked up. The people who had this house before us didn't have it hooked up and it was causing our dishwasher to make the water go up in our sink. The guy came and pulled the plug out of the plate and hooked it up. He knew what he was doing and he was on-time. The switch for the dishwasher went out within the time frame for him to come back, so he came back out and it was the same plate that he had to take off. He was super professional, nice and very helpful. I'd have him here any time. Everett Service was great. I love American Home Shield because we've had good experiences with other things and the people were great. I have been with them for a little over a year. Te renewal is coming up next month and I will be renewing it.

The guy was nice and he was on-time. We called prior and he brought a part which had something to do with the agitator. He was advised that the washing machine was leaking a little bit. He showed us where there was some soap build up, cleaned that out and put the new part on. Then, we ran the cleaner on it three times and the dark stuff coming out on our clothes was over, but the machine was leaking more. The contractor didn’t fix the problem and it got worse. As an 11 year customer (with only a couple small claims) of AHS with a 16 year old R-22 air conditioning system with a leak in the evaporator coil.
After a lack of response from AHS we hired another A/C company to come out and take a look to confirm the diagnosis. While AHS wants to replace only the evap coil in a 16 year old system (mind you R22 is being phased out by the EPA in 2020). The technician has stated that everything needs to be replaced (outside unit, air handler and furnace). Even though the average replacement cost of an R22 evap coil ranges from $2000-2500 per our technician, yet $650 is the initial offer from AHS, highway robbery? The entire premise of having a home warranty revolves around not having to spend big money on repairs for your household when the time comes, it's even in AHS's marketing tactics. But when you have a major unit issue in the household, don't expect this company to do the right thing.

Second company did not show up during the appointment, I had to reach out to reschedule! Just despicable.
When they showed up no diagnostic once again! The entire time I’m chasing them not the other way around. Had to force to be connected to the United States customer service (since they outsource and it’s the worst not kidding scripted nonsense). Still no call backs regarding diagnostic, escalated with no result. Still no return of a single phone call that was promised more the once to be returned. Still playing ping pong (who’s fault is it, not a single apology for wasting my time or correcting any of the problems thus far). I am beyond exhausted and frustrated. Today I finally once again contacted THEM instead of them contacting me as promised with a resolution.. They stated my repair was denied and a new unit will have to be given.
Transferred to the department and after 30 minutes he tells me no.. I am beyond livid! He can’t do anything. He can't give me corporate phone number. He doesn’t have it. He doesn’t have a supervisor. It’s not his problem. He wants to transfer me to customer service in Egypt to play the ping pong bit all over again! I don’t think so. I’m canceling my Policy and getting all of my money back! They said AC company was going to tell me my price and the AC company can fix it next day! So I said, "NO. You need to tell me what y'all are going to pay and what if anything I am responsible for!" They could not give me an answer and then stated it's still under review. I said, "If it is still under review why are they coming to my house to fix it and telling me I owe 1860? How do they know how much I owe if it still under review?"
This is what I think is happening here!!! We pay AHS every month and then pay a service fee for these companies to come out and charge whatever they want. People are paying without doing research as to how much it really cost to fix something without using this so called warranty! I did the research and called around. I got my AC fixed for $1200 without using this warranty!! I will never get another warranty again! To be honest I really don't think AHS pays for any claims! Said AC breaker was right amps for size of unit and just popped it back and nothing else. Within 30 minutes of him leaving both breaker popped again. Heat in Louisiana is pretty oppressive so intermittent AC over 3 weeks is not pleasant. I called to request a different company be dispatch and have been given a total runaround. 2 days of calls where the call center only follows a set script, puts you on hold and then you mysteriously get disconnected and have to start all over again. My renewal is next month and if no resolution in the next week, it will not be renewed.

Universal Pool & Spa came out for our pool. I do the online request with AHS always and it's easy as pie. And so far everybody they sent have been pretty good. I haven't had any complaints except before I had the filter repaired, it was kinda vague in the policy whether or not it was covered or not, so I called them to find out if it was going to be covered. And it really was sort of a challenge to get to somebody to talk to on the phone. It was like I had to wait forever to go through 400 prompts, and then it was not the easiest thing to talk to somebody in person directly about your policy.
It usually takes about a week to get the the problems resolved. And this last pool company was pretty good. They actually came out within 24 hours of the service request. I didn't even have to wait for them to call. They just kinda showed up and that was kinda cool. I’ve recommended AHS to colleagues at work because everybody has houses that they need to maintain, and warranties are the best way to do it sometimes.

Our washer was not filling with water and it was very easy submitting a claim online to American Home Shield. I requested for service over the weekend and the guy from Mr. Fix It was able to come early the following week, which was fine. He was great, knowledgeable of the appliance and he looked over everything to make sure it wasn't something else. He found that the hose was clogged and fixed it immediately. Since then, everything has been fine.

If you have an old home, or even a new home, it makes sense to have a company like American Home Shield. In fact, I told my friends that if they don’t have this, they would be crazy because their house is as old as mine and things happen. I’ve been here for 16 years and I've been with American Home Shield all of those years. They’ve been very good for us. Submitting claims has been very easy. I've had a couple of water issues, as well as issues with the microwave, my dishwasher and the garage door. And American Home Shield has always responded.
I had three issues with water leaking and my pipes are in my ceiling so it was a matter of having to make a hole in the ceiling. The first water issue took about a week to take care of. Then on the second one, we were given a certain amount of money for replacing the area that the plumber had torn out, and a lot of people don’t do that. Mostly, the policy is that if a plumber tears something out, then they don’t repair it. You have to get somebody else to come and repair that. But they did real well with that.
I only had one issue with one plumbing company that I was very unhappy with. It was on the third water issue. The plumber would not even look to find out where the leak was coming from. He said it was coming from someplace down low but it was obvious it wasn’t. It was coming from the ceiling. Then he said that he wouldn’t get into it until somebody was sent out here to see if there was asbestos. Of course there wasn’t because this house had totally been redone and had all the sheetrock redone. And I told him that, but I found out that the person that he had coming out here was a friend of his. Then of course they insisted testing be sent off.
I ended up paying close to $4,000 that was totally unnecessary. I ended up having a contractor that I know come. But I don’t think that was American Home Shield’s fault and I wasn’t unhappy with their service. It was the plumber and people should let American Home Shield know if they have any issue. The company has to be informed to be able to remove the contractor so I did and there was no issue with that end. The next time I had a plumbing issue, I didn’t get that contractor.
I had a claim one time with my microwave but it was so old that they couldn’t get the parts so American Home Shield replaced that. The other time was when my oven wasn’t working properly, or I didn’t think it was. American Home Shield sent a guy out and he checked it out. He got it heating back again for me the way it’s supposed to. Then the next time would’ve been the dishwasher and my refrigerator. The guy repaired the refrigerator. But the dishwasher was so old that they couldn’t get parts and so American Home Shield replaced my dishwasher. More recently, Precision Door Services came out because the garage door wouldn't open. Something was broken and that's what the issue was. The guys came, took care of it, cleaned up the door and sprayed it. They did a great job.

I had a faucet that was leaking and several times there seemed to be a question about whether something was covered or not. I was concerned that AHS said it wasn't and I read the contract to say that it was. I had a little difficulty getting them to understand and agree and it took a couple of calls to make that happen. The second time I called back, the person understood what the situation was and said they would send someone out, and they did. After that, the plumbing company called back immediately, made an appointment for a day later, showed up in the timeframe given, and all worked well. They replaced the faucet and they were very good.

American Home Shield has been a good service. It was initially provided by the previous homeowners, but we’ll continue it and pay it on our own for next year. The most recent claim was for an air conditioner check and everything checked out fine. Everybody was professional and courteous. They had to do a reschedule on their part, but it was fine. A month ago we had a leaky toilet and a leaky outside faucet spigot, and the techs corrected both of those and were super nice.

We had a good experience when we filed a claim for a clog in one of our standing shower rooms. But the sink drainage pipe was also clogged, and I mentioned it to the plumber. I don’t recommend him, because he charged me $295 to remove the inlet where they can put their snake and put a new cap. He said the pipe in our sink was old. But after that, the sink is still overflowing. I'm not satisfied. He also told me about a survey link about his job. He got my cellphone and told me that he was going to show me how it was. But he didn't do that. He was the one who put on the information, and then when I was going to access it, he put finish on it. I cannot access it anymore.

I don't have a very good memory, so I prefer doing it online ‘cause it emails me, and then I have a trail. When I had my water heater replaced, the contractor took care of everything, taught me how to do some maintenance which I didn’t know how to do, and showed me what he found in a way that I could understand. He took a lot of extra time to educate me as a homeowner, which was awesome ‘cause I’m recently widowed. He was a good guy. And my water heater has been perfect.

It went faster when I had the bank information there than the credit card. I know it's automatic but they should see if the payment options are already there. I had a claim for the AC when it had a leak and the contractor added Freon. Recently, I had a claim for the hot water heater. I live in Dallas and there was a power surge in the last storm, so it wasn't covered but since the repair, it has been fine.

My AC unit was not cooling and I filed a claim online with AHS like I always do as it's so much easier than doing it on the phone. AHS assigned A&A Heating and Cooling to my claim and they're about an hour away from me. I made the claim at 6 o'clock in the morning and they called me as soon as they opened. And they assured me that they come to my area. It was on a Thursday and the earliest that they could get out was on a Saturday morning between 8:00 and 12:00. But the serviceman called me about 7:30 and said he was about 20 minutes out. So, he was here and he had to add two pounds of Freon on the unit.
We had a discussion about Freon because it's getting harder and harder to come by. So, there's that whole issue and he explained ahead of time that AHS would pay the first $10 and I'd pay the remainder of the Freon. I have two units and I have a heat pump upstairs. Usually, it is the heat pump that I have to add Freon to, so I'm familiar with American Home Shield's policy. Other than that, the tech was really good and very professional. He knew his stuff but my unit's old enough that I know my stuff too and he listened because who knows a unit better than the homeowner? He also didn't dismiss anything I was saying. I told him what the problem was and he just said to let him go take a look at it. So far, the unit's been doing okay since the repair though I have my fingers crossed.

I had to get a tile company to come out and re-grout for me. The technician American Home Shield sent out was able to identify that pretty quickly and get the resolution in order for me. The technicians have been super professional, on-point, and very knowledgeable. The only thing is I wish American Home Shield had an app.

American Home Shield sent a contractor for my HVAC issue recently and it was a very positive experience. He replaced the capacitor and the unit came on. But I have another pending claim with AHS which is contrary to my overall experiences with them. I called AHS on May 21st about an appliance issue. AHS was very nice and helpful. They told me they can send out Platinum but to me, it sounded like a men's club. Then they said they can send Sears but I had to wait. It was June 6th when I heard from AHS saying I was assigned to a vendor. But I never heard from Sears and they never acknowledged that they were going to respond.
About three days before their scheduled arrival time, I started calling Sears and AHS asking if they were coming. I wanted to let them know that I wasn't going to be there till after 1:00 because I had an unexpected doctor's appointment. Sears was totally unhelpful. I did online chatting with Sears and AHS also tried to communicate with them. Then a guy from Sears called on the day of the appointment and said he was coming out in 30 minutes. But it was 9:00 I already told them not to come until after 1:00. He said he couldn't come and would try to come after 1:00. In the end, I got two calls from Sears telling me they were cancelling my appointment. Then I found out that they had assigned at least two different techs without telling me and they were supposed to come for the different appliances. The bottom line, June 6th and June 5th showed up but nobody came.
I called Sears and AHS and I was told that they couldn't repair until June 26th. Nothing has been done with the appliances. I asked if they can reprioritize it since it was all their fault cancelling one of the guys. But I was told no. I asked AHS if they could assign me to Platinum instead but was told that I couldn't change. I am paranoid to the point that maybe they're dragging this out hoping I'll get frustrated and buy new appliances. But overall, I can't fault AHS for this. They are my partner and I've been with them since the early 2000s with various houses. My experience with them in terms of submitting claims has been good.

The air conditioner went out. The compressor blew. American Home Shield got somebody who came out and confirmed it was the compressor. However, it sat there for 2 weeks without anything. My wife called them after a week and asked what was the deal. They said they didn't get it approved. When she talked to them when it first happened, they expedited it 'cause she's disabled. She has a heart issue and the temperature in this house has gotta stay somewhat normal. They did recommend us to go and buy portable AC units, and American Home Shield is supposed to reimburse us for them.
American Home Shield has no problem taking my money every month. If I ever miss it, then I'm screwed. I don't like paying it out. There's no reason to wait two weeks. But the contractor showed up at 12:00 today so it's fixed. I liked the communication. They were constantly calling. That’s how I found out that it was actually being ordered because they called me last weekend and said that they just got approval.

I was on the phone with AHS for well over an hour today. 90% of that is being on hold. As an update to the last sentence in this review, I still have not received a call back from the supervisor who was supposed to call me directly immediately. It has been 30 minutes. If I could give negative stars I would. On top of everything else, I log into my account today and suddenly I have no contract in the system?!?! WHAT IS THIS!
I have called AHS on: April 15th, May 1st, May 5th, May 10th, May 13th, May 14th, May 15th, May 18th, June 5th, June 13th, June 14th, And TODAY, June 18th. 2 MONTHS AGO I filed claims for my AC, faucet and a leak in my home. I have called about 10 times now to get these issues resolved. It's been 2 months and nothing is fixed. Every time I call in the customer service rep is just going through the motions and calls the contractor to get the diagnosis. "I called the contractor and asked for the diagnosis" - After reading that in the notes so many times you'd think they'd try to offer a different solution than the d same steps each time. It makes no sense, customer service is not going through the procedures, it's helping your customers when the service is sub-standard. And in this case it gets worse each time. A lot led up to my request in May, but there's enough detail in here that I don't need to go into all the details from April to May.
In May, I just requested a new contractor and the Manager at AHS sent an email to contractor relations because obviously the contractor is not responding with a diagnosis (except they originally updated it from leak to slab leak so obviously they got some sort of update on it!) and I am just requesting the buyout to get the repairs done by another contractor that is actually responsive. The AHS Manager PROMISED ME I’d get a call back within 2 days…. NOPE - this was A MONTH AGO!
I spoke with someone last week and they said they escalated the situation to a supervisor and I should get a call back. NOTHING. I had to call again and finally got approval for the faucet payout, because they MAGICALLY discovered the diagnosis somewhere in their system. The AC unit has had 5 people come out, first guy said it needs to be replaced, then they send someone out to replace it, that guy said he thinks there might not be electricity to our AC unit (there was) and he wants an electrician to come out. They send an electrician and of course he says that's not the problem, so they RESEND the first guy (who is wondering why they had him come back to say the exact same diagnosis as the first time), and we finally get someone out today - now it will take at least another 2 weeks to get it replaced. IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS!
About the faucet and the leak - They have to send an email to the AHS Manager to figure out why the AHS contractor relations email hasn’t been addressed?! So now they have to send an email within their own system to find out why the first email isn’t being addressed. That is absurd. Oh, and they don’t know why my contract isn’t showing up on my account anymore so I have to call another number of their technical team to troubleshoot with them but they can’t transfer me.
I am now on the phone with another rep, who is not responding when I hear silence - which I presume means they’re putting me on mute instead of hold. I ask for her Manager and she puts me on hold before I can finish my sentence, then gets back on the line and said she called the contractor to request the diagnosis. The EXACT SAME THING the rep I spoke with 30 minutes before had done, but our call got disconnected when he said he couldn’t hear me and hung up. I tell her that she just did the exact same thing the previous rep did, and that I didn’t ask for that, I asked for a Manager.
She said she’ll transfer me to escalations, I said no I want to speak with her floor manager directly. I am now on hold again… It has been 10 minutes… The rep just came back on the line saying she will transfer me to a supervisor, then she says the supervisor is actually going to call me and she needs to end the call so they can call me right away. It's been almost 30 minutes.
I apologize for the inconvenience we have caused Marika. I just sent you an email as I would like to follow up with you until your issue is resolved.I look forward to assisting you.

However, we submitted a claim this March and have had nothing but issues since then. Multiple calls to American Home Shield and getting nowhere, which last at least 25 minutes each time, having to explain myself over and over. I have spoke with three people just in the last three weeks in which all assured me that they would resolve the issue.
Two of the three said they would call me back the next day and never have. This is very frustrating to pay for the warranty and wait over three months to have the claim reviewed to see if they can go further with fixing the issue (ductwork). I am not impressed and highly frustrated. What has happened to good customer service. I would not be writing this if someone would actually follow through and call me back. If the issue can't be fixed then just say so. That way we can figure out what to do next.

I used American Home Shield for my a/c and the experience I had was terrible. I have been with AHS for 2 years. First it took them 2 years to finally replace it. I have spent so much money on freon since they only cover $10 per pounds at that time. Their AC guys came like every 3 weeks in the summer, and they never wanted to replace it until recently. Also it seems like they don’t know how to talk to their AC companies they employ because AHS said $1000 for the replacement while the AC companies said over $5000 to replace it. If you're looking on the contract it's say 3x3 system section 1 covered all components and parts air conditioning including duct work.
The AC companies mentioned AHS don't cover because is not compatible so how you say if covered but we can't cover to replace it. This is should be a package. If you replace the condenser they should cover to replace the coil since they both comes together to make the AC work properly. After a month dealing with AHS the agent just want to make the claim done. She offer me cash out about $1100 and I try to get a quote for 7 AC companies and all of them saying over $8K to replace it. So how can I replace AC with $1100 AHS offer me, go figure. I did ask if they can send another AC companies to get 2nd opinions for AC replacement, AHS mentioned they don't do 2nd opinion so we stuck with the AC companies they send us.
As we're get closer to summer, I'm still to figure out my option so AHS comes back to me and say my out the pocket is $2450 instead of $1000 they told me in the beginning. After back in forth for over a month I have no choice to replace with the amount of $2450. I'm so disappointed the way AHS handle this situation. They don't communicate with their 3rd party (try to charge us $5000 to replace AC) and AHS don't do anything to help the customer by charging us more because they don't keep they promise on out the pocket expense. I'm sharing my experience so we all aware that AHS will not replace your AC no matter what they say on their TV commercial.

I then called AHS back with technician and put technician on phone. He explained the issues he found. It has gotten turn over to Authorization department and I was told I should hear something about it by Friday. Friday came - no call or email so I waited till Monday and called. Still no word. We were offered a replacement of a similar one or $372.00 check and that includes all fees and install which is about $200 to low of course. We opted to have them order it and set up the install. Here we are 2 months later and still no appliance! Keep getting told it’s delayed or we get hung up on when we call and ask to speak to a supervisor about this issue. This is unacceptable for ANYONE to go 2+ months waiting on a replacement when my warranty payment is made on time all of the time! I have sent email after email today and will update as I get a response. At this time I would not recommend the service but that may change depending on the response and what they do to make it right.
I can understand your frustration Michael. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. I just sent you an email in an effort to assist with a resolution. I look forward to assisting you.

My air conditioner wasn’t working and my wife called American Home Shield. The interaction went very well. The repairman took a little bit to get here but once he got here, he was fast, courteous and he checked everything out. He got the air conditioning working and he did a great job. Since the repair, the AC’s performance has been excellent. I’d recommend AHS to a friend.
Good Morning Jeremy,
