I had an AC claim on a Friday afternoon and Changing Winds was assigned. I know a lot of people are having issues and the tech still came out late that Monday night and made sure it got fixed. He didn't wait until the next day. It's been good with Home Shield for the most part. It would have been great if they had some kind of insurance which would help placing us in a hotel or something like that if we needed to leave the house because it's not safe, but it's okay.

I really like American Home Shield. They're really nice. One time I had an issue with my heat and it was really cold. They got right on it. But I wound up having to cancel because it was the builder's problem and not American Home Shield. I also had an excellent experience with American Home Shield regarding a recent claim I made. The garbage disposal wasn't working and something was wrong with one of my toilets. I called both claims in and it was easy. Their reps were amazing.
This was also one of the best experiences that I've ever had with someone coming to my house and doing some service work for me. The tech was amazing. He was very thorough and he wasn't creepy. He was very professional and he talked in a nice, even, and calm tone. He wore those covers on his feet. I was like, "Did y'all just sent Jesus out here?" I called his job and let them know how great he was. They said that he was a new employee there. Everything's been working perfectly.

We called about our swimming pool and American Home Shield sent someone out within about three days. The repair guy came out and checked the filter and found the filter cover was making a bunch of racket. He put it back on and as far as he knew, he fixed the problem. But in reality, we've had an algae problem with the pool since we moved in here, but my husband figured it out on his own. The guy just came out and heard the racket that the system was making, and he found the cap had come off. He put it back on and the noise stopped. But our main problem was with the pool not being able to get all the products to work right and thinking that it might be that filter.

It was great with Affordable Heat and Air. They were on time and the guy was really good. He told me the AC was in really good shape. He said what it was doing, it was supposed to be doing and that was good to hear. That's the first time I've used American Home Shield and I like them so far.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

Our air conditioning wasn't cooling. I spoke with a representative from American Home Shield and the timeframe to expect their contractor was a very short period of time. Piedmont Mechanical Contractors came out and they were perfect. Everything has been awesome since their visit. It seems like my air conditioner is much cooler.

My claim with American Home Shield where they sent out Greenway went very well. The representative of that company was extremely professional, helpful, kind, and friendly. I was totally satisfied. My tech was Shane and he was great. He was professional and friendly. My air conditioner was kind of a little warm so the tech put a pound of refrigerant in there. They resolved my issue. The air conditioner is still a bit warm but I'm curious if it's the nature of my old house. My house was built in 1935. Otherwise, everything's fine. And with American Home Shield, I like the peace of mind because I had to have a couple other things fixed. The price is good for the services rendered.

The air conditioners were not functioning. I reported the issue through American Home Shield's website. I created a ticket online. It's easy to navigate their website and report the issues. At the same time the air conditioners went out, it ended up that storm came through and knocked the power out. So when the contracting company called to come, I said, "Well, our power's out. So it won't be restored 'til the weekend. So if I can reschedule it for Monday of the next week, that would be good." Instead of doing that, they canceled the whole thing. I had to call American Home Shield and then I had to resubmit another ticket. I wasn't charged another $100 but I had to go through and re-set up an appointment and had to wait another whole week. We were over two weeks with no AC in here. When a contractor finally came, he diagnosed the problem quickly and corrected the issue in a timely manner. That repair helped and alleviated the issue.
Overall, we have had some contractors that have come out for a few issues that did not fix the issue and were not easy to work with. I had someone come out for a furnace issue, and they didn't fix the issue. They change a bunch of parts that didn't need fixing because it didn't correct the issue at all. I had to have another company come out and address the issue because we had no heat in the house. And certainly, AHS wouldn't reimburse me for that. So I didn't have an issue there that I was not happy with at all. But the thing is if there is a contractor that's not well-servicing and I have another furnace issue, I don't have the ability to change to a different contractor. If I call AHS up and say, "We've had them out before, they did not fix the issue, I really don't want them to come out and look at it again," American Home Shield's unwilling to give you a different contractor. It seems I'm stuck with whatever they give me.

They were pretty quick about getting somebody out and getting the issue taken care of. The company came out and looked at my heating and air condition. The tech looked at my system and he checked it all out. We determined that what all he said wrong. It was something simple and he fixed it pretty quick that day. It's been working good.

I had a problem with my faucet and when the contractor came out the first time, they weren't able to fix it. They had to order the faucet and then when it came, they told me to call them back. So I called them back and they came out today and fixed it. Also, they had on the PPE, so they were fine. Filing the claim was easy. It was a good experience. I'm just still upset about the fact that I have to get my floorboard replaced, but otherwise, it was a good experience with the scheduling. I got scheduled within two days so it wasn’t very long at all. They came out and they were prompt. Everything was good with it.

We had a hot water line leak in one of our walls. They responded really fast and we got someone out there to fix the hot water line. The process was long because we were going through the home builder to fix like all the other things as well. But AHS did perfectly fine. We appreciate it. Submitting the claim was pretty easy. The contractor was very professional and very knowledgeable.

My Appliance Repair came out for a refrigerator issue and the guy was wonderful. He already had the parts in the truck and so he was able to repair it. But unfortunately, as soon as he left, I tried to turn on the ice maker as the water wasn't able to be connected to the refrigerator because of the first issue which was the filter. When he finally fixed that part, we turned on the water before he left and then I tried to make ice since then. My ice maker won't work now. But I didn't want to have to spend another hundred dollars for him to come out and fix that. Nonetheless, I thought it was super simple and I appreciate it. Very satisfied.

American Home Shield is great. You tell them the problem that you have and then, they'll send somebody out. You pay your deductible and they take care of it. The process is simple and they make it clear. It works out good. The AC leaked every place and it blocked itself off. Then it was on the ceiling, broke all of that popcorn stuff and took it all down. It was all wet. Somebody came out quickly and contacted me fast. The fellow took a look at it, put a new drain in and then charged me $100 for some piece that goes in it. Now, when it overflows or if it gets close to it, it'll cut itself off. People should get this warranty.

I received phone calls from American Home Shield (although the calls came two days later than was promised. They were able to hook me up with a contractor who could come two weeks earlier than the original dispatch. The contractor came out on 9/4 and fixed the issue.
I am updating my star rating to 2, but I cannot give it more than that. I am still unhappy with the whole experience with customer service. Besides, American Home Shield has given no indication they will reconsider their policy on the outside contractors. I am not sure if I will continue to be their customer at this point, and I cannot give them an ok or better rating.

This Monday (8/17) one of our A/C units went out during the heatwave in California, and I filed a service request immediately. And I thought I would get a contractor assigned quickly. I checked the website frequently, but there was no update. The family was suffering under a 100-degree heat, and I began calling the AHS number to find out what's going on. I quickly learned that every time I called the wait time was easily one hour. After an hour of hold I got to talk to a representative. They told me they would look into it and give me a callback the next morning. But the callback never came. Getting more and more frustrated, I kept calling AHS to find out what's going on. And I kept being told the same story. They're looking for a contractor and they would call me back. But the callbacks never came.
Finally on Thursday (8/20), after 3 full days of constantly calling AHS I got email that a contractor was assigned. I then called up the contractor first thing in the morning, only to find out that the earliest time they can come was 9/1, which was ten days out. I was so shocked to hear it because it meant the family had to go through another 10 days of misery in this weather. I then contacted an HVAC contractor that I knew from previous experience and he said that he could come as soon as the next day, but the only way he could come was if AHS allows him as an outside contractor. He is fully licensed and was willing to work with AHS and I was willing to pay him first and get reimbursed later.
To try to get that going, I called AHS twice on Friday (8/21). Every time, I was told that AHS had to try to find another contractor and that they would get back to me with an hour or two. For the first 2 calls, however, that callback never came. Completely fed up, I called AHS again. After waiting for one hour and 10 minutes, I got a hold of a representative. Again, I had to explain the whole thing from the beginning. Then he told me that due to the high demand in my area, it is nearly impossible to find a contractor and that he would approve an outside contractor immediately.
I thought that finally the issue would be resolved. But then after a brief hold, he came back and asked me whether I had one or two A/C units. I told him we have two. We have a two-story house and a dual-zone A/C. But we have family living and both floors and it's not like everyone can cram onto the same floor. His answer was AHS will not allow an outside contractor if there are two A/C units.
To say I was shocked beyond belief is an understatement. In short, AHS would deny a readily available solution and relief for us because we have two A/C units. It almost borders on cruelty and customer abuse. I asked what's the basis of such a policy and whether someone can exercise judgment to authorize the outside contractor given the shortage of contractors. His answer was a firm no. No one can authorize such a thing and if he did he would be held accountable for doing so. I'm realizing I may be in this pending state indefinitely while I cannot use a readily available outside contractor. And I already paid the contract fee ($100) promptly on Monday. I cannot help but feel that I am getting royally screwed as a customer.
AHS ultimately assigned another contractor, but I was told that the earliest time they can come out is 9/18! I'm looking at 1 month of misery to continue from the time it went out. Their contractor network cannot service us for one month, and yet they won't allow an outside contractor who's ready to go. It almost feels like we're being held hostage.
I am an extremely unhappy customer to say the least, and it stems from two things. One, the quality and the integrity of the customer support I ran into was appalling. I was met with inconsistent information, promises of callbacks that were never kept, and general unwillingness to help from the customer perspective. And two, the sheer callousness of not allowing an outside contractor in the midst of contractor shortage that AHS itself admitted. So apparently AHS feels it is OK to leave a customer in this state for one month or longer, suffering from the continuing hot weather. How that is acceptable to its customer, I have no idea.

You better pray you don't need help over the weekend. The service contractor they assigned doesn't even call you over the weekend, much less actually respond with a visit...because of course nothing bad ever happens over the weekend. You can be sitting in 100 degrees heat or have your house being flooded or anything else...Too bad for you if the contractor works bankers hours. WHY WOULD AHS EVEN HIRE CONTRACTORS WHO WON'T RESPOND TO THEIR PAYING CUSTOMERS NEEDS 28.5 PERCENT OF THE WEEK????
Hi Theresa,
We understand your concerns regarding the delay to have the issues repaired. I would be glad to speak with you to reach a resolution.

American Home Shield has gotten worse over the past five years. The contractors who represent them are not as good as they used to be. It takes a while to get a good contractor out and it takes time to get my issue repaired. There was one contractor, Accord Appliance, that just Mickey Mouses their job and use old parts that they have on their shelves to try to make an extra bit of money from American Home Shield. I told AHS not that I never want to see that contractor again.
Last summer, my air conditioning went out and they sent out a company that looked at it and it took four months to get my AC fixed. The company was screwing me around. They put in a request with Home Shield to have the repair approved but we didn't hear from them. After 10 days, I called the contractor directly 'cause I wasn't getting any feedback. Instead of contacting AHS, they just put in another request for the AC to be done. It just confused Home Shield as to what was taking place. They called me and asked if I had four air conditioners. I was very upset and I was looking for another insurance company. AHS should have more responsibility over their contractors and keep an eye on them.
I had a leak in my pool pump recently so I called up American Home Shield. I didn't get any response so I went through their website. They then sent me a text saying that a contractor will get a hold of me and set up an appointment. At first, two different techs out and both of them were horrible. The first came and looked at my pump for 15 seconds and said it wasn't grounded and therefore, they wouldn't repair it. The second one came and said that I had a hole in my pump. We never heard from the second tech again. Each time, I would call Home Shield and tell them to send out a new contractor. Most recently Upland Pool Supply came out, looked at it and found the part that was needed. He came back a week later and did an excellent job. Everything has been working fine since then.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

This claim went as expected and I'm satisfied with the service.

It seemed like the customer service had gotten so bad with a lot of companies, but I heard that AHS had a good one. So, I went with them. Recently, I had pool issue and AHS sent out Dunks Pool Mart to work on it. The tech did an outstanding job. He was good about calling and about coming back when he said he was going to come back. He's probably one of the best people I've ever had come off from any home warranty. I also love the service from AHS and I'm glad that I have the warranty. I would recommend it now to my clients.

I did the initial claim for my HVAC system through their online portal. Then they reached out to me and we set it up. When they reached out to me, we had to figure out who was available on their system to come out and do the work and the evaluation. I had to call Fast Heating and Cooling and set up a time for them to come out. Then they came out, did their assessment and they came back. I didn't have the greatest experience with them. Initially, I requested somebody that I was familiar with, Beverly Heating & Cooling Services. But American Home Shield didn't send them out because they told me that they weren't available in my area to be sent out and then that became untrue because they ended up going out eventually.
When I was talking to the guy from Fast Heating and Cooling on the phone, he was a little disorganized. But essentially, nothing was going to be covered and they gave me an astronomical price for everything that needed to be done. So I reached out to Beverly Heating & Cooling, gave them the situation, and they said they do things for American Home Shield all the time. When we talked to American Home Shield, they told me that there were certain things that weren't covered so I requested a second opinion. The rep was able to get Beverly Heating & Cooling to go out and check it out. Then they came back and gave their assessment of things that needed to be done and then it became covered. Everything's working fine now.
The few times that I had to call American Home Shield, I waited one time for about 40 minutes on the phone for anyone to pick up. The wait times seemed ridiculously long just to get to talk to somebody. When I needed to do a second opinion, I waited about 35 minutes for somebody to pick up. The first time that I talked to somebody on the phone after waiting 45 minutes, it was really hard to understand them on the phone because they had a very, very thick accent. So it ended up being not so helpful because I couldn't understand what they were saying. But the second time was a little bit better. The person has an accent but I could understand them much better.

American Home Shield seems to answer my service calls and I have no complaints with them whatsoever. I had an issue where the sink that the garbage disposal was connected to had a very slow drain and appeared to be clogged up. I looked at the pipes and saw no clog there. I determined it was something inside the garbage disposal. Since the sink was not draining properly, it hindered us from being able to wash dishes in a timely manner and keeping things clean and tidy. I initially called American Home Shield but then I went online and made the service call. They gave me Red Dragon as the servicing vendor and their tech did a great job. He contacted me really quickly. He got here and took care of the issue in no time flat. He replaced the garbage disposal and it is absolutely fine now. He was excellent.

Sometimes, American Home Shield is okay, and sometimes, it's not. Right now, I have a warranty claim in for my hot water heater that’s out and I had them come. The people they hire let them know that the item is bad and a lot of times, I have to wait. I have to wait for them to get parts, get somebody to order it, and it can be another week or so before I get my hot water. That's the most annoying thing. Still, the issue got taken care of.
Also, everything went well with Sears. They did my refrigerator but I had to purchase one first and be reimbursed. I sent American Home Shield the information the same day and the reimbursement took about a month. As far as submitting a claim, I’ve done it both ways and I wanna talk to somebody. I’ve called and then I’ve done it online. Sometimes, I can't get a response online so I wait for somebody to call me.

I kept calling and waiting in line on hold with them for two and a half weeks. American Home Shield said the company never gave them a detailed invoice for them to even attempt to order stuff.
It wasn't American Home Shield but that first contractor that they used was terrible. They kept beating around the bush. I kept calling and calling and calling, and the other lady said, "I got this other company coming out. Wait for them. They won't be out for a week, but this is one of the best companies." I said, "Why didn't you send me one of your companies from the beginning? Why did you send me a nobody?" That's what I was upset about. But the other company came out and said what was broken. They called American Home Shield and they replaced it. My gift card came in four or five days later.

He was very pleasant. He came in in the laundry room and took the things off the wall where you put the filter and the one below it. He squatted down, put his hand in there and pulled this dead rat out of there. Evidently, the rat came up through a hole in the floor and when the air conditioner turned on, it got this rat in the thing that goes around. It kept going around and that's what was making the racket. It made this part go sideways and he had to put that back. I hit the button and it was fine. He was such a nice gentleman.

There are different coverages you can get in it although I wonder where all the upgrades gotta come through now. I had a hot water heater that started leaking recently. The technician from Best Care Home Services took care of the problem. He was real knowledgeable about what was going on and he did all the upgrades. I went and checked it, he did a good job. Everything went well.

The customer service that we received was excellent with the last issue that we had. We got the information. The guy from Sears came in and noticed that the electrical burner on top was not working. He explained and he ordered the part. He said it would arrive in the mail and for us to place it in and if we had any problems, to call them. But it was easy. We received it and it's up and working.
The thing that I do not like with AHS is that I would go on the website sometimes and they want me to create a username and password. We can't be creating a username and password everywhere. It should be a very simple option to go online, put the contact number or address, and generate it that way versus creating a username and password, 'cause AHS still has to verify that it's the right location. Also, it was a delay for people to answer the phone. It was worse when COVID-19 started. I would be on the phone for over 40 minutes and nobody would pick up so that was frustrating.
The other thing I do not like is that the monthly rate is going up. Now, they're taxing for each visit that they come down so that's going sky high. I've been a member for so many years and it seems like there's no way for them to work around with customers. It's not like we use them often either. I understand that there are things happening, the weather is not good, other states are getting hit. But that is happening in that state, so why is everybody else has the fees go up? It makes no sense. I have multiple properties and I'm helping my parents with their property because they're retired and on a fixed income. AHS should give those customers some type of discount. They gave me a discount for one month, but all the other months, I'm paying $75 on top of what I pay for my home. I would not recommend them because the fees are outrageous. Compared to other commercials on TV and other people, I think it's time for me to start shopping around.

The initial and continuing issue is my air conditioning is not cooling. It's been going on for a month now. The first gentleman Home Shield sent out said he doesn't do my type of air conditioning. They connected me with Koning and the guy came in and said he fixed it. A week later, the AC stopped cooling. It was registering 77 jumping to 84. I called them again, Koning came in again, and they said they fixed it. Sure enough, it went right back up. It just stopped cooling. Then they came in again on a Friday and the guy said he fixed it. He left at two o'clock. He set my thermostat at 75 and the indoor temperature on the thermostat read 77. At 5:30, it was still reading 77 and the thermostat was still set at 75.
I called him and I said it's not working and that it's going up. He said he was gonna do a follow-up and he hasn't showed. I turned the whole unit off and I took a picture of the thermostat so I can show them. This morning, I turned the thermostat back on and it's working. But I'd give it a couple of days and it's gonna shoot back up.
Home Shield has always been on point. The only thing I don't like is when I have to call customer service because the wait is like an hour. Then if I leave my telephone number, it's gonna take at least another hour or two for them to call back. But that's the only thing that disheartens me. I understand there's a process and I understand that they have a lot of customers. Home Shield is very professional, concise, and on point. And the individuals that I have spoken to from Home Shield are very knowledgeable and they understand. I'm very satisfied with Home Shield and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

My dishwasher wasn't working and my refrigerator was leaking. They put it on one claim and American Home Shield handled the process fine. When the first contractor came, he didn't ring the bell. My garage was open and I happened to look outside and saw the truck. I was running downstairs to open the door then he said the job was completed and left.
I kept on trying to get in touch with American Home Shield saying that he didn't even come in my house. He didn’t even do anything. I've been on hold for two hours. I called back and I was on the phone for another hour. They sent out the same technician and this time, he made it. He came, looked and stayed here 10 minutes. He said both things needed a motor. Next thing I knew, American Home Shield called me and said they couldn't do the job because I needed new motors. I asked for another person to come out and that technician fixed the problem. It was a process and I was frustrated. I kept calling and calling and doing all kinds of stuff.
I have had good experiences with American Home Shield in the past and I was happy with them but this happened to be a bad experience. Usually, filing a claim is easy. I understand the wait because of COVID, but these are really long wait times. Before that, I didn't have to wait that long to get in touch with a claims person. I noticed it’s different this time and I understand that but the contractor was the one I had a problem with. I was upset about what happened with the first contractor they gave me. When he came the second time, he was on time. He said they'd go order the parts for me and to make sure I give them a good rating. I did thinking that they would come back and have the parts for me. But then I got called saying that American Home Shield was not going to replace the part ‘cause it was due to debris and soot. He wasn't even here that long. He didn't look at the machines to check it to even know that that's the problem.
There are some things that American Home Shield should do on the technician’s part just to make sure that they're following through with the right protocols. I don't think the contractor should be able to say he completed the job. If he found someone wasn’t home, he could’ve said that and not that he completed the work ‘cause that's what really got me mad. I don't understand why this person said that I didn't answer. Afterwards, I couldn't reach them anymore. They send something to you by email. I have the number to the company, but they give you a personal number to the technician. When I went back to that, that was gone.

It took about 10 days then he came and installed it.

My most recent claim with Home Shield was for a water pipe leak in the basement where the washing machine is. That was really quick and I was surprised because we're still navigating through COVID19. The plumber from Advanced Drains & Plumbing Repairs came out and fixed everything in one day. But my first claim with tem took a long time. It was a long, drawn-out process for a hot water heater repair. Then, once I got connected with a plumber, he handled the claim and he charged me an extra $45. He told me it was "extra pricing” but the connector piece is only $30 from Home Depot.
I spoke to a representative from Home Shield but she was really hard to understand. Her accent was very heavy. And it could have been the time I called. I understand Home Shield outsources so everybody can have a great customer experience. But it was very difficult communicating with her. I asked if I could speak to someone else and hse said there was no one else to speak to. Also, I ask one specific question and it seems like their call center reps just read from a script, like an automatic response they're supposed to give me. I could have just typed my question in the inbox and waited for someone to respond if I didn't wanna speak to a person.

We've had MC2 Appliance before and we've always been pleased with their work and their professionalism. Recently, he came out for a clicking that was going on in the ice maker, which we keep turned off because they're notorious for leaking. I had bought a countertop ice maker that makes smaller ice and makes it better. It makes ice like the restaurant, the Sonic drive-in. Opal is the name of it. He fixed the ice maker and then did not install it back into the freezer at my request because we weren't gonna use it and the ice maker just needed to be reset. It was trying to complete a cycle. Something happened that made it get into this cycle that made it click. So, he just reset it but did not plug it back into the freezer at my request since we had that other ice maker. Everything's working fine now.
The technician was very polite, knowledgeable and took care of the situation in a very expedient and knowledgeable way. I've been pleased with American Home Shield and it seems that the service companies that they use are top quality with their employees, and especially in this hard environment that we're living through today. Since I paid for service that wasn't really provided, I don't know if I got any value out of the warranty because the service provider couldn't fix the problem. Then when I reached out back to American Home Shield about it, they said the case wasn't closed yet. So I'm just out of $100 and I don't have any recourse. I would have looked for a different provider. But since it was part of the purchase agreement that was selected for me, I didn't have a choice in the matter. So I would not use the service if I had the choice.

In 2018, I had someone come out for my dishwasher and he said I needed a motherboard. He never came back. I called American Home Shield and they said they would call the person. But he never ever came back. I would call and sometimes people would say they would call me back and I would give them my name and number. They didn't call back. Then I would speak with someone and they would transfer me. When I was transferred, there were times when I was on hold for two hours and at one time, two and a half. I just put my phone on speaker and I did things around my home, so I would not really recommend American Home Shield to anyone. One time too, I was on hold so long that my phone died. It was an ordeal to connect.
When I was having problems with my range, I was telling one lady who was nice what happened and she said they would fix the dishwasher and because of all my troubles, she would give me a credit so that I would not have to pay the $100 deductible. I just got a bill for the $100 so I was gonna call them. The technicians I had were okay but the one who fixed the dishwasher was excellent. He contacted me and came out as promised. He was on time, very professional and knowledgeable. So, I didn't have any problems with the contractors. I've thought about canceling though and I'm still thinking about that. I’ve had AHS for four years and I've been paying every month. I have only used them three times but the whole thing with the stove was crazy. It had nothing to do with the contractors or the tech. It was poor customer service. I went a whole month without a range, and it wasn't acceptable.
The incident happened July 10th and I called the 11th. Some people would have been going off but I have good survival skills. We used different appliances like the air fryer and the microwave around the house so that we could continue to eat. They said we could use the top but I didn't feel comfortable doing that so I didn’t use it nor the oven. But the contractor who came out was good and I would recommend the company, Wright. The young man was very professional and courteous. He explained to me what was going on. He came to my house three times but the person who delivered the stove came just one time because he didn't have to repair it. But he was also very professional and knowledgeable. So, I've had no problems with both contractors.

All in all, it went smoothly. The people at Barker Services are outstanding. They were scheduled for the next day but they called me late in the afternoon and said, "Hey, do you care if we stop by now?" So that was pleasant. The guy was very professional and very friendly. He did an outstanding job and he fixed the issue. Having the warranty is like a safety factor. American Home Shield sent someone for our AC the very first time, and they were delinquents. It was horrible. They didn't finish the service. But after that, everything was 100% recommendable. The second people that actually did the job were excellent. Everything was so perfect. The tech was so helpful, so educated and he explained to us every time what he was doing. He also told us we need a part, and he had to go to five different stores in order to find it, so the experience was amazing with Home Shield and with them.
I went online to submit the claim to Home Shield. The AC wasn't working and me and my husband work a lot, so we discovered the night when we got home. The only issue that I had was I really didn't know what was wrong with the AC so the website was giving me too many options. So, I selected a couple options. But when they came, everything was perfect. Even when we set up the problem with the first people, it was good. The problem was when they got to the house, we were rushing out. We told them to call us 30 minutes in advance because work 10 minutes from my house. They didn't call. They didn't wait for me to get home which is 10 minutes. They keep calling me. “We have your address blah blah blah.” We even went to the best Better Business Bureau to report that company because I never deal with anybody like that.
I called Home Shield. I spoke with someone. The system went down but that person told me, “Hey, my system went down right now. There is nothing I can do.” Five minutes later, I received an email saying, “We set up your service with a different company. He’s gonna come this day.” It was awesome. We are really satisfied.

American Home Shield said it was but they were saying it wasn’t so it kinda got delayed. They came out Wednesday versus Tuesday. But they were fine. American Home Shield is kind of an extra insurance. If something breaks, I just have to pay my co-pay. If they send somebody out and that person's not very good or they mess up, I'm assuming that they will take responsibility because they send them out.

The contractor that came for our AC was very good. He let me know that he was on his way, let me know he was 15 minutes out. The water was clogged up. I was assuming it was an algae that was clogging it and I couldn't find where that was. I’ve worked on several air conditioning units, including the ones at work. This one's pretty old, but he’s a pro. He fixed it quickly. It's been performing very well since he came out. It got the air up and running and it prevented the water from dripping all over the garage and all over the stuff we have around the air conditioner, so it made us feel a lot better. I was very happy. I would definitely recommend American Home Shield. When we bought the house, there are several things that are old in it. The hot water heater and the AC unit are pretty old. I have two air conditioners, one that does the back part of the house with the bedrooms and another one does the kitchen, living room, great room and game room. The one the front part of that house wasn't working at all and the back one wasn't seeming to get the house cool. American Home Shield sent out a repair guy from Quick Response. He was really great. I really recommend that AHS keeps him and use him a lot ‘cause they will have a ton of happy customers. He's super professional but friendly. He did a really good job. He found out that there were a major leakage and some other problems with the front air conditioner and it had to be replaced.
I called AHS that day 'cause I couldn't handle these high heats. There was over a two-hour wait to get a hold of them so I hung up the phone. The wait time is ridiculous. A callback queue would be the ultimate thing for Home Shield and it would really make their customers and vendors happy. But American Home Shield gave the okay in a really timely fashion. I was expecting it to be a month. The technician called me and said that he got the air conditioner and everything. He'd be out there either the next day or the day after that. He did it in a really timely fashion. Also, he had actually worked on this house before on the air conditioning years back because there were notes on the back of the air conditioner when you opened up the stuff and it was his handwriting.
The technician checked the Freon on the back air conditioner and then the thermostat needed a battery in it. He put a battery in and explained to me to keep all the doors open while the air conditioning was going and not to shut down the rooms because it needed to have the airflow. He was really good at explaining how air conditioning was working in our house. We have really high 16-foot ceilings so it works a little bit different in a house that has higher ceilings than a house that doesn't. He came back and replaced the front air conditioner. In the house, he had to do all kinds of work on the blower unit that takes care of all that in the house. It was unbelievable because he literally had to stand on his head to get it done. I was amazed at how great the technician was and how fast AHS was.
American Home Shield is absolutely 1 Million % worth it. You never know what's gonna go wrong with your house. I paid $880 for the warranty and the air conditioner job was actually a couple of thousand dollars. I will never go without having a warranty. They also cover pool pumps and well pumps, which is a huge thing for us. If people knew that the covered those two things, they would buy it just for the peace of mind of not having to worry about it if those two things broke down. It was just an unbelievable and wonderful experience. I've had to fix other things in my house and it has always been a good experience.

The control panel for the pool equipment had died for some reason. It wasn't functioning properly so Watertight Pool and Spa came out. They had to order a new control panel to replace the one that wasn't working. When I called to let them know I couldn't program my pool with the new control panel, they ordered one that would be compatible. They had some internal ordering issues and I hadn't heard from them for a couple weeks. I called and after a couple of days, they called back. They came out and brought a new control panel. They explained to me their internal ordering issues and apologized. I was pleased because they admitted the mistake and I got a better piece of equipment out of it.
I was satisfied with the timeframe. I called when I first noticed the problem in early July and they were out within a couple days. When they ordered the first part and brought it back, that was probably three days apart. They came out on a Thursday and brought the new part on Monday. When I couldn't program it, it was probably a total of about three weeks before I finally got it resolved.
We're coming up on a year with American Home Shield and the first nine months of having the service, I wasn't really satisfied. I would call on various items and it seemed like whenever technicians came regardless of the problem, it was like they tried to figure out the least amount of work to do. They couldn't track down a problem and I didn't feel satisfied on most calls.
I had one specific incident where the spotlight wasn't working in the pool. I called and the contractor came out. They said, "We don't deal with stuff under the water." They couldn't troubleshoot the pool light. Eventually, I called a pool control guy locally on my own. He said I needed to call a master electrician which I did. They came out and ended up tracing the problem back to the whole breaker box. They pulled it to change it. At that point, American Home Shield said, "We can't cover any of that because our technician wasn't on site when you put the breaker box in." There would've been no way to get their technician on site because their technician would've never troubleshot the spotlight in the first place. I was kinda stuck in this loop where I ended up coming out of pocket 5,000 bucks.
But with this pool control panel and with the recent air conditioning issue, both companies were thorough. The repairs required were pretty expensive and it's kinda like the warranty paid for itself. For the past couple months, we've been pleased with American Home Shield. I would advise most people to get a home warranty and I would recommend American Home Shield. I would advise them what they're getting into and if they got a pool, I would definitely tell them to get a pool warranty as well.

The only problem I have with American Home Shield is the fact that it's hard to get ahold of their operators. I spent almost an hour on the phone trying to talk to someone about the issue on my plumbing not being resolved. I do most of my claims online. I have no problem with that. I get that through and they're very quick in responding to that. But if I have a problem with the repair people that have come out and then trying to get back to talk to someone to get it continued, that’s what the problem is and that's what I don’t like.
But the service contractors that have come out have been good. I just had one. I had a plumbing issue where I had the repair person come out. We thought the problem was resolved, but it wasn't so they had to come back out again. So that's happened to me a couple of times with some of the various service people that they have. Service, so far, has been pretty good. I don't have anything against operators being in foreign countries, but it'd be great if they had some here you could talk to. That will make things a little bit better. Plus it creates jobs for American people. But other than that, I’m somewhat pleased.

I got notified on my email when I made the appointment. 'Cause I had to make two appointments for that. The first contractors, they weren't gonna come. They had called me after I made the appointment. They weren't able to come for like a few weeks. So I had to reschedule with the company that came up because it was too hot.

When we first got AHS, the previous homeowners had left their refrigerator. The door handle just completely came off and it was a struggle. So I had to argue with them and whoever the lady was that I spoke to through American Home Shield, she was like, "That's ridiculous. That's nonsense.” She really helped me through that claim and she was the one that got it approved. Thankfully, she did because our freezer wouldn't open. So we basically got our money's worth that first claim that we made for the year with our home warranty. It helped a lot.

We had condensation coming out of our vents. It was dripping water and we thought maybe there was some leak going on, but it ended up being just condensation. The contractor who came was very friendly, very knowledgeable and provided a lot of knowledge. He checked the system for me and did a lot of things that he didn't really have to do, but he just wanted to double-check things. It's been good since then. I love AHS. It's so handy and it's a peace of mind to have it.

Sometimes I like to talk to someone to see if they can give me some advice, but it's very hard to talk to someone at American Home Shield. I'm on hold for a long time and I tend to never get a person or never be able to make a claim. When the fan was not turning on the AC, I requested the claim online. The technician from Comfort Zone came and he was able to fix my air conditioner within 20 minutes at the most. He also gave me recommendations on how to do preventive maintenance.

There was essentially clog that was filling in the hole in the pipe. H & K Plumbing came out and was right on time. They just punched it. First, it wasn't working, and then they were persistent, and then they resolved the issue. They got a whole bunch of stuff out. When they took it out, the pipe started the leak, and it was leaking from the basement down into the kitchen. I called AHS back to see if that covers a leak. They said no if I couldn't see it. Then I tore down the ceiling. It turns out it's been leaking for a long time. The guy tore it down and then it was like all the joints were moldy and rotten. He took that out. Now, there's nothing in there. Another contractor went and put the floor back. They had masks on. It's just that AHS customer service is not easy to get through to. But the people have been friendly once I've gotten through to them. It's a long wait time or sometimes they call back, but it might be two or three hours.

MJS Plumbing came out and they fixed the drain and the bathtub, which was caused when the contractor took that all apart to fix the leak from the trap in the downstairs bathroom. So all of that was connected. The contractor was good. He knows what he's doing, but it was because of the communication issue with some of the customer service folks. Because I got a call from them yesterday, the faucets are what my issue is, and I don't know what they were doing. I'm really frustrated.
I've been waiting two months for the sheetrock guy. I'm just very disappointed. They kept saying, "Your contractor will connect with you." It's been terrible. I got a text from the sheetrock guy I spoke with yesterday. "I've developed some kind of stomach bug. It looks like I have to reschedule on Wednesday work, same time." I said, "Thank you. I will call for another contractor as I've been waiting over a month and I can't keep retaking off work." He said, "Okay, let me know if I can still help. If I didn't realize you were taking off. I can always come late in the afternoon if that will be better." Then I said, "Okay, afternoon would be much better. I'll wait for you." Then he said, "I'm sorry. I meant afternoon. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling well enough today. Maybe tomorrow." It just goes on and on. But AHS is not saying that when they take that money out of my account every single month.
Then, I'm on the phone anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours just waiting to get through to a rep just to put in a claim, only to get more days and weeks of more runaround until finally, someone comes. But it's not MJS. It's just the communication between the folks at American Home Shield and not fully understanding. They're so quick to put in a work order, but there's already a language barrier because most of them are foreign. So they're not catching everything that I say. I speak proper English, so I know that that's not the case.

The technician was on time. They gave me a five-hour window, and they came out early for the AC. They had a mask and gloves on and everything was good, including the performance. In the beginning though, it was not that good. We were trying to get our AC fixed but they couldn’t do anything for us right away. We're in Florida and it was a lot of hassle. We were getting the runaround and we had to make a lot of phone calls to get that running, but now, we're good. The AC is working fine too.

The contractors that came for our plumbing issue were great. They called me beforehand to communicate the specific timeframe and then they showed up when they said they would. They did the work and left in a short amount of time, and everything's working fine. They also wore masks. They stood back a bit when talking to me. They were careful about what they touched when they came in. I would go back to them again.
The service of AHS has been good too. We've only had to do two calls, and they were within a week of each other. I found the website incredibly easy to use. I've gotten quick appointment times and it's been really helpful to be able to do everything electronically. We've bought two houses now and each time it's come with an American Home Shield warranty. The first time, we had to use it a couple of times. The second time, we did not and so, we didn't wind up renewing. This year, I decided I would go ahead and renew it and it's been a good decision for us.

The previous guy who came for my refrigerator kept saying that he didn't receive the right part from American Home Shield. I kept asking and asking and American Home Shield assigned me a different contractor, Alliance Appliance. A guy came out maybe a month ago for my refrigerator. He checked the part and said he will order it. I called Alliance Appliance three days ago and they said they haven't received the part yet. But they have ordered it and as soon as they receive it, they are gonna give me a call to schedule an appointment. This is for the wrong part for my small Frigidaire that I have in my basement. It's a thermostat.
Alliance Appliance is a good contractor because this is the second time that they serviced me. The first time was three years ago when I didn't have a contract with American Home Shield yet. Their tech fixed a dryer that I have. Their tech came back and he was wearing the mask. He asked if I remembered him and he told me that they fixed my washer. That washer still works. These guys are professional. I told the tech that he was coming because the previous technician couldn't finish the job. I also told him to be extra careful to order the right part. He took photos and this and that. He then called his boss or manager. He seemed very careful to order the right part from American Home Shield.
So far, American Home Shield has been good. But one problem is that when you call, you need to wait one hour on line to get somebody, which can be fixed. If it is a new service request, you just go online and you make it. But many times, the parts don't arrive quickly or they arrive but it is the wrong part. I know that these things happen. But personally, these difficulties are not very important. I have been receiving very good service from AHS and I have been telling all my friends about it. I told them that it's worth the money.
I am a professor and I have a lot of free time. But other people whowork 9:00 to 5:00 and they have a boss on a daily sched. They cannot make a phone call. If you make a phone call for another day, you have to wait for an hour. The low-hanging fruit for improving service is more people answering those phone lines. Somehow they need to fix that one-hour wait because it really affects a lot of people. In theory, American Home Shield assigns someone, they will show up, they're gonna fix the problem, and case closed. But in practice, in probably more than half of the calls, the guy had to come three or four times.
On the whole, I'm happy and I am advertising American Home Shield left and right. I have three contracts with them - two of my rental properties and the house that I'm staying in. I have another condo that I use as an office that I wanted to start a contract. The ZIP code is 44106 and American Home Shield told me that they don't serve that area because they don't have many technicians there, which was surprising because that's Cleveland. They have a lot of technicians in the suburbs but not in the downtown Cleveland.

American Home Shield came out and honored their contract. I can understand some reps a lot better than most of those that I talked to because of the accent they use though. I'm 62 years old, and I have a little ringing in my ears. If they don't enunciate and speak good English, I lose it. I don't hear it at all. Other than that, I got my claim started online, and then I got the call that the contractor was coming in. I had them here in a few days and we got a brand new outside unit.
Our AC out there is 30 years old and we'd been here 15 years. We got that compressor by American Home Shield within a year of us getting here and then we were just gonna do the same thing again. Those coils and that whole unit are worn out and doesn't do so much though. For them to put another compressor in would’ve cost me 500 something bucks. Plus, $100 already, so there's 600 and I'm like, “Ouch.” I went through A-US Air and the guy said they got me financed and then it didn't cost me anything to have the new unit put in. We're just gonna have to pay off the loan and we took the 720 that American Home Shield sent us and put that down on it.

My neighbor came over and closed it. I called American Home Shield and they sent Garage Doors and More out a couple of days later. The dude that came out said that I needed a part for it to close, but they didn’t have it because of the COVID in the mail, so they had to order it. I waited. I called back to ask the lady if she knew when the part was gonna come in because I was having issues with my door. It got stuck again and it won’t open. American Home Shield is the WORST company to deal with! We had an emergency septic backup on Friday afternoon. Called AHS immediately after situation only to wait on hold for AN HOUR AND HALF to be hung up on then called back and another 1 hour 43 minutes hold to see WHEN someone will be out (after the $100 fee they require first). The guy has no idea when someone will be out. I explained to the representative this is an emergency and we cannot use any facilities in the house. He then puts me on hold to check status. 18 minutes later hangs up!!.
I call back again and this time 1 hour and 45 minutes to get NO WHERE!. Call them again first thing in the morning to start the WHOLE process over again... and finally get a human on the phone. She will try to expedite the service request. Put on HOLD again...She then tells me dispatch will be calling me....I ask her a few times really will they call or is this just lip service. She assures me they will call. Guess what? I get a call and dispatch wants to know the situation. I explain it to them and they will try to find a contractor and she will call me back.
An hour later she calls back stating they found one and I asked her, "WILL THEY COME OUT TODAY?", yes they will be calling me....GREAT NEWS right? Wrong....wait 2 hours. No call so I decide to call the contractor myself to see when he will show up....He does not even know about today. "He said, Well maybe I can come TUESDAY...Nope. Sorry. Tuesday will not work." Septic/ sewer is backed up! "Well we are closed and I am not sure why AHS said I will come today...."OMG are you kidding me.....So call back AHS AGAIN I guess what. On hold.....The only AHS is good for is collecting money and that is IT....Do NOT waste your time with AMERICAN HOME SHIELD.

The first guy that came out did partial repair on the outside unit. There was a bunch of leaves and debris on the coil outside. He cleaned that off and told me that he checked the freon and it was fine. But when I called him about an hour or so later and told him it still was not cooling, he said to give it another hour and call him back. It never cooled. The second guy that came out said it was low on freon that was why the coil was leaking. I told him the first guy that was out here said he checked the pressure and everything was fine but apparently that wasn't the case.
We've been without an AC for three weeks and this time, they finally did repair the AC. I was happy that it was finally working. It's nothing major but inside the closet where the unit is, they left a little mess. Also, the hold time was unacceptable. There were a couple of times that I was on hold for over an hour. Trying to get answers and trying to find out where the part was added to the frustration with it not being repaired quickly.
Besides being on hold forever, it looks like the phones are transferred over somewhere else. There was one time that I was connected to some lady that spoke very bad English. It was hard to understand her. When she was trying to give me some answers back when I was trying to find out what was taking so long, she had a hard time communicating and put me on hold. After I was on hold for a while, the line conveniently dropped. Altogether, it was a pretty bad experience. But I've dealt with American Home Shield before on other issues in the house, and I had not had any problems.

It was resolved when Home Shield sent someone else. Also, I had a problem with a leak under my house and Home Shield refused to pay the claim because of something I said at the beginning, which I didn't know what was going on. I was very unhappy with them. I almost changed at that time.
I wish we could have our choice of contractors. And I pay $66 a month but still, every time a contractor comes out, it's 75. I'm still considering going to another home warranty company because of that. I don't think I should have to pay close to the amount I pay every month for a contractor and they've been going up every year.

Somebody told me about this wonderful company called American Home Shield and they kept pushing me until I finally decided to give them a call. I never had any issues but once I start paying them, then things will start happening. Overall, the service with American Home Shield is good but I'm gonna have to get used to putting my request in online. I did it online one time and it was a total disaster, which is why I don't do it that way. I didn't make things clear and I had to pay a fee again because of the way I worded it. So I prefer to call in but sometimes there's a long wait period to call in a work order.
The claim with Hers and His Plumbing went fast. I submitted it to American Home Shield one day and I got a phone call that said the contractor was coming the same day. That one was a quick turnaround. The guy was nice and gave out a lot information. He fixed the issue, he assessed the damage or whatever was going on with my plumbing, and he took care of it. He was in and out. I had to call back a day after that because I discovered that the kitchen sink was still leaking underneath. But they came back and I haven't had a problem since. The technician had on a mask and he even tried to wear the little protective shoes but I have hardwood floors and he didn’t have to do that. My AC is also not working and I'm burning up at home. It just went out yesterday, so I called last night. When I got home, it was 87 degrees in my house and now, it's 97. But someone's coming out tomorrow.
Having AHS is a great benefit, especially this last one with my plumbing issues. I wasn't even sure if that part was covered so, I reached out to another company to have them to come in and take a look at it. The guy came in and he said it'd be $400 to fix my issues. I told him that I would check on something see if it would qualify. He said that I couldn’t have any any insurance that's gonna cover plumbing. I said he was probably right but I'm gonna call just to be sure before I give him my $400. I called AHS and they said it was covered. So, I was glad to have it because the plumbing issue was gonna be huge. I thought I had it for my fence though because I had some fence damage but they assured me they don't cover things like that, so that was fine.

First, the contractor couldn't figure out what was wrong with the AC so they told me I needed to replace a breaker that I didn't need to. I replaced that. Then they came out and couldn't figure it out so I told them what the issue was with the air conditioner. They said that they'd order what I told them to order. Then they told me that they wanted to put on new Freon in the system when it has Freon.
Originally, he was gonna charge me $350 for the Freon. They're required by the EPA to reclaim it, and I would assume he's just taking the Freon and using it on the next job and charging people for it because he was pretty adamant that we had to change it. They make a lot of money off of American Home Shield and all the customers they service by putting Freon in when the people don't need it. After I explained to him that I'm a contractor and I talked to the manufacturer and I talked to everybody that I don't have to put that, he said that they’ll reuse it. They put the Freon in and the guy that was changing it didn't know what he was doing and let a whole bunch of it into the atmosphere so it didn't have enough Freon. We went a whole another day without air conditioning until they came out and put my Freon into it. We got air conditioning, but it was quite a process to get there.

American Home Shield has been good, even when we’ve had multiple issues with this house. My daughter helped me submit the claim and they were pretty good. But it took a while sometimes to get a hold of people and question.
When the whole air conditioner went out, we took the buyout and went through American Home Shield to have it replaced. They weren't quite as perfect but it got fixed in the end. The next issue was when some part went off on the other air conditioner and they were able to diagnose it and fix it on the spot that day they came. They were very professional about it. So, when the guy came in, I showed him all four and they called American Home Shield back and got it approved that it was not three, it was four.
This guy came in and said, "We'll have to call the American Home Shield and we will call you back next day or whenever we're ready, whenever we have parts," and then he just disappeared. He never came back. I asked him, "Can you please fix it now because it's been running?" I got the appointment late. When I called, they came out in four days. So, I didn't want to wait anymore. But then, he disappeared. When they came and my husband was leaving, and he was parked on the driveway. So my husband said, "Can you please park your truck on the road?" Then he had to go back and park his truck on the road. Maybe he didn't like that.
I was dissatisfied. They could've done something, but they did not. Another company called me the next day that, "We want to schedule an appointment to fix your toilet." They came and they fixed it right away. This has happened before. The contractors came and they just needed to replace that and tighten something from the inside. But, I didn't like their attitude.

I like the prompt service and the ease of access to go online. You don't have to talk to anybody. The tech always called before he would come and he was very courteous and quick. So, I enjoy them.

The first guy did not solve the issue, but the second guy did. American Home Shield needs to work out a couple of bugs, but overall, they’re pretty good.

He came out twice, and then he told his people at Sears they couldn't fix my unit, so Home Shield got me another refrigerator. It took a week ‘cause the technician had to write those papers. My sister who lives down the street from me has Home Shield. She told me to go with them ‘cause any time they call, Home Shield would always come out. They've been great with me too.

My washer wasn't draining the water after the cycle. All In One Appliance Repair came out and replaced the pump and everything was all good after that. The claims process through American Home Shield was pretty simple, especially now you can just file the claim online. The guys from All In One Appliance were concerned on the questionnaire online that it didn't say whether or not my washer was on a stand or not. That dictates how many people they’ll need to send out on the job. The guy came one day and he was by himself and realized my washer was not on a stand. He questioned me about that as far as when I applied for the service, did it have a question on there whether or not it was on a stand or not. I told him there wasn't. So he said that they had requested that American Home Shield put that on their application and, apparently, they didn't do it. He said he had to request they do it again.
I thought I had an issue with my air conditioning unit because it was leaking inside the closet. I had a guy come out. When he showed up, all he did was remove some debris outside around the drainage pipe and the water started to drain. Had I known that was the issue, then I could have done that myself, but I still had to pay $100 for the deductible. I understand it’s a business and that's pretty standard, but it seems that in some jobs it should consider how big the job is before committing to the deductible. Other than that, I've had several items replaced since I've been here and I'm very satisfied.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I like Home Shield. I've had them for over 10 years. The submitting a claim process has gotten a lot easier over the years. Doing it online makes it a lot simpler so I didn’t have to do the old school phone prompts or having to wait for someone. It's definitely easier submitting online. Golden Appliance Repair was very prompt. They communicated very well regarding my service request as far as when they were coming. Everything went smooth. They had to come out twice. First time, just to diagnose. And second time, they actually fixed the problem. Two different people in both times. I had good results. Both had a face mask on.

You could call him after he did the service call without having to call them back to see if it's the same issue. And I like American Home Shield. We've had American Home Shield for years and some of their contractors are not worth a damn. This recent contractor from Max Cool Air Conditioning was the best I'd ever seen. He was very knowledgeable and identified the problem right away. They had to order a part which took a week or so which is normal. But he knew what he was doing and fixed the problem in short order, and it's working fine.
We have tankless hot water heaters on the outside of our house on two sides. Three years ago, one of them quit working. I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out. The man looked at it and the one that came out to repair it said, "I've never seen one of those before." They sent a total of three people out and none of them could fix it because it was broken. I had to hire somebody to put a new one in at my expense. That was a horrible experience with American Home Shield. But most of our experiences have been good or we would’ve canceled it. It gets more expensive every year but it's still important to have insurance like that. Most of the contractors they've sent out have been okay. Some were not so good and one of them was terrible. I'm sure American Home Shield hires the cheapest people they can find that come and do the job but sending somebody that's not knowledgeable is very foolish.

Veteran Heating & Air Conditioning's technician was phenomenal. I recommend him highly. I was very fortunate to get a great repairman, and who has been with Home Shield for a long time. However, the process is not the best process. Where we live, they don't have any air conditioning and heating companies signed up with Home Shield. So, somebody had to come from another town. I wasn't given the option to be able to call my own people. I even asked to speak to a supervisor and I never got a supervisor to this day.
I couldn't call anybody local. I saw on Home Shield's website that that can be done, but I couldn't get a supervisor or anybody to tell me how to get that authorized. Say if my AC wasn't working properly and I call a local company, the guy comes out, assesses the situation and he determines what is wrong, and either he fixes it right on the spot with the part he has on the truck or he goes to town and comes right back. That's not the way it works with Home Shield. The technician has to come out and determine what's wrong, and then he has to get authorization to fix it, and he comes out another time to fix the problem. He can't get the problem fixed in the same day the repairman comes out. So, here we are, 100-degree weather. The process that the repairmen have to go through in the customer is really not customer-friendly. We're going to stay with Home Shield because we need the service.

I had a clogged line that Integrity Air Conditioning Service unclogged. Then, they made two trips out because the lines on my air conditioning keep freezing up on me on the outside and they can't seem to figure out what was wrong. They told me I needed coil cleaning. I can't afford that, so I told them I can't do that right now because they want $700 for it. I told them I got a guy in a church that does air conditioning. He'll probably do it for me at a reasonable rate.
I've been doing my claims with American Home Shield on my phone. It's pretty easy. As far as my AC claim, they sent me a thing telling me that Integrity would contact me. They were very punctual. I'm still not happy because my air conditioning is still acting up. When Mike came out the first time, he said, "The coils are dirty, but not dirty enough to cause what's happening." It was like on 81 last night when I went to bed again, so I had to shut it off for four hours and wait for it to thaw out.
Integrity said they're not coming back out now because I won't get the coils cleaned. I'm like, "They're not that bad. Even the guy himself said it." I cannot afford $700 to clean coils. I have a handicapped wife at home that's disabled, and there's lots of her insurance won't cover that I have to buy for her. When a neighbor of mine was telling me about American Home Shield, I'm said, "Awesome. I'll get that just in case I have any problems with my AC, I know I can get it fixed." That way, she'll be able to use it when she needs it when I'm not home. But now, Integrity's telling me they're not gonna come out any more.
AHS does not cover coil cleaning at all. I'm like, "Well, that's part of the air conditioning unit." And I'm paying good money for this plan. I recorded their commercial on TV, so I keep it on my phone. If I have it on there, it's a legal document. On the commercial, when it shows a person air conditioning going, they said no matter how old or how aged, if they can't fix or find the parts for it, they will replace it. Integrity's been out here four times, and they travel 90 miles to come to my house because they're not local.
Now, every time the air goes out, my wife has to suffer and sweat. Then she has gotten a breathing machine. I had to call her to tell her what's going on. I told the guy, "I work full-time, but I still can't afford that kind of money." I have a mortgage payment. I was hoping American Home Shield would stand behind it and just replace the thing and get it over with it so they don't have to keep wasting money sending people out and fixing the same problem seven or eight times, a the technician says he doesn't know what's wrong.
I would recommend American Home Shield to my friends because they've taken care of me so far. I haven't had to pay anything. So far, since I've called, they send people out. So, that part of American Home Shield is good. I just haven't been able to talk to a person each time because everything has to be done online. Usually, I like to call and talk to a person and explain what's going on.

I submitted a request to American Home Shield for a property I'm managing. It was to have a hole in the ceiling underneath the bathtub repaired. I don't have access through their online resource to report a claim or follow up on one because I can't give AHS the information they need. So, I have to phone the claim in. When I make calls to AHS, I have to go on hold for an hour to get anybody to answer and it's horrible. Still, once I get AHS on the phone, I really like them as they're efficient.
Home Shield told me that they assigned a contractor to fix the hole in the ceiling but nothing ever happened. I reported it again and I got a follow-up from the contractor. Recently, I've had better experiences with AHS but before, I've had horrible ones. AHS band-aids everything 50 times before they replace anything. With a tenant-occupied property like what I'm handling, I spend all of my time trying to get their contractors back out to fix something again. I had a tenant waiting as much as a week to two weeks without heating and air or without a refrigerator. I've had to rent a refrigerator with my own money to put in a unit because AHS did not get out for over a week.
Overall, I don't like American Home Shield's program or their vendors. They're so stacked up and busy. Plus they're not making enough money so they are not motivated to get out quickly enough. The last thing I would ever do is recommend one of my rental property owners to have this home warranty. I know what kind of pain the tenants would go through trying to get something fixed.
We understand your concerns regarding the delay to have the issues repaired. I would be glad to speak with you to reach a resolution.

I have a 3-story unit and my upstairs unit was working and blowing down on my main unit. I know that there’s a lot of people that needed help more than I did.
Ron Haynes came out that Thursday. Before he came in, he asked what the problem was because if he didn’t have to come in, he didn’t wanna come in with the coronavirus. I told him what the problem was and he got right to it. He was clean, courteous, and he wore a mask. Also, the tech, Brian had to clean the inside of my unit. He had to take it apart and clean it and he scrubbed that unit. And there was a squeal that drove my husband nuts and he hit the nail right on the head. He was so meticulous about his work. My thermostat was shorting out and there was a part in my air conditioning that burned out. I filed a request to American Home Shield and they sent a contractor called Beaches Air Conditioning. The tech from there was very nice and knowledgeable. He replaced my thermostat and we thought that would fix my issues. But then, the next day, the temperature at my house was going up again. It was at 77 and not at 72 like it was supposed to be. We called the guy from Beaches Air back and he was pretty quick about doing that.
There was a part in my air conditioning unit that had burned out as well as other things that were directional and determined where the air goes inside the house. American Home Shield continuously goes up in price every year. I understand inflation but then when I came in, I got a deal and I've gotten shafted after that. The only way I can change the price is if I change how many things I want serviced. I like the amount of things that AHS services. I also like that they usually get back to me pretty quickly.
Customers get better service though if they go online. Older people don't like to do things online. Instead, they like to call and talk. AHS doesn't afford older people that because the wait is incredibly long. Usually, I just leave the phone when I'm doing something and wait for somebody to start talking. Most recently, I've done that because I have a contractor that cannot come to my house. Usually, I can't pick contractors with AHS but I like to let them know not to send that contractor to me. They have that written in my record and they have been complying with that.
The last contractor who came to my house was a plumber with whom I was absolutely upset. That plumber had a 1 rating and I wanted to know why AHS was sending someone to my house that had a rating of one. He didn't know what he was talking about. But, my issue wasn't so much that but the way he and his so-called boss was talking to me. I was offended so I talked to AHS and told them that if those were the kinds of contractors that they keep, then I do not want their services. They did not refund me but said that for my next call, they would eliminate my $75 fee.
AHS has been accommodating when I'm not happy. Most recently, I've been dealing with their contractor called West End and they have been wonderful, courteous and kind. They get to the problem and get back to me as quickly as they can. They have sent a dishwasher tech and a dryer tech before and I had no problems. With AHS, I've been satisfied except for some encounters where I really wasn't.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The blower stopped working on the air conditioner. We could hear the air conditioner clicking on, but the blower wasn't activating. The technician that came out was great. Everything's working fine now. I liked American Home Shield this time. The last repair I had, I hated American Home Shield. I have a mini-split unit. I had three people come out before, finally, the third company started substituting parts. So, they replaced the mainboard inside the exterior unit, and then they replaced the main board on the interior unit and they still couldn't get it to work right. They kept complaining that there was no shutoff. I didn't install the unit. I didn't know where the shutoff is. But a couple of weeks ago, I was cleaning in my office and I followed the conduit exactly 18 inches to the wall where there's a shutoff. It was like the guy didn't even look.
Then the worst thing was after they decided that they couldn't fix it and that they wanted me to replace it, they wanted to replace it with some air conditioner that did not have a good noise rating and they wanted to install it on a different wall, which was not gonna work. I'm in a recording studio in my home, so I have to have a super quiet air conditioner.
This company refused to do the work until they put a cut-off switch in, which now I find out it's already there. If he would've turned one foot to his side, he would've seen the cut-off was there. So, to make matters worse, when they concluded the job, they concluded it by walking off. They left my outside unit open. They didn't bother to close it up, so I had to go out and put the screws in so that if it rained, water wouldn't go into all of the electrical components. So, I was not happy with them.
It still hasn't been fixed. Because we're in air conditioning high season right now in Arizona, I just have the office door open and a fan blowing from the rest of the house to cool the room because it's just not a time to get the air conditioning worked on. When this is all over, I will call certified Fujitsu Air Conditioning persons who'll come out here and figure out what the problem is, because these guys do not understand Fujitsu mini-splits. If they had understood it, they wouldn't have been throwing a bunch of money at replacing parts that weren't the problem.
I had a previous claim for a refrigerator problem. The contractors came out and fixed it right away. I had a repair on my dishwasher. They fixed that right away. So, in general, I'm happy with AHS, with the one huge exception of this mini-split unit. Now that I read the policy and the terms of the mini-split that says, "We're not obligated to replace it with a similar-sized unit," I have a really unique installation in my home studio, so I can't replace it with something that's not the same size.

The gentleman that came out for the dryer was very nice. However, he came a little longer than I hoped for and carrying my wet laundry down the street to the neighbor's house wasn't very pleasant. He replaced the part that he thought was the issue but he still couldn't get the dryer to turn on so he called. He was on the phone with his boss and they discussed it. They decided it had to be the motor so they replaced it. It still wasn't acting right so they replaced the circuit board. The guy was very lovely and got the dryer to work. In the end, that's all that mattered.
I have an open claim right now. Last week Thursday morning, my husband went downstairs to put some stuff in the freezer. It's down in the utility room where the hot water heater is. He looked down and there was water on the floor. It was not coming from the hot water heater. We realized that the pipe coming into the house from the outside faucet was leaking. The drywall was wet too. We got the outside water shut off. We got fans sitting there. I was on hold with American Home Shield for an hour before they answered the phone. I finally got the claim in and they assigned somebody. I said, “Is there anybody that we know that is immediately available? What do I have to do to get somebody out here today?” But the lady was of absolutely no help. If it weren’t for the warranty and I had to call somebody, I’d had somebody out there that day.
I got on the phone and called the company that they assigned it to. Nobody answered the phone. I finally got somebody to call me back. They said they were swamped. They were putting in six hot water heaters and were doing this and that. But she was a very nice lady. She finally called me back Saturday morning and said she could get somebody here this morning between 8:00 and 10:00. I got a text last night from the guy saying he's got an emergency and couldn't come until tomorrow between 8:00 and 10:00.
I figured I’m stuck. They’re not doing anything. When I talked to the lady, she said I could call American Home Shield back and see if they could get me somebody that's got more availability. She said American Home Shield said that this company that they assigned me to was the only one available in the area that could come out here and work on this. The water heater is 14 years old. Even though the thing is about to go, American Home Shield won't do a repair now as opposed to waiting till everything floods and breaks my house.
I’ve had American Home Shield for quite a few years now and this is the second time where I've been annoyed and considered looking for a different company. The first time was when my washing machine went. We waited and waited and waited. The guy that came out here said, “You can't get this part anymore.” American Home Shield kept me waiting for a month for a part with no washing machine. They finally gave in and said it had been backordered for so long, it was not available, and I could have a new washing machine. Finally, after waiting almost a month and not being able to do laundry, I got a washing machine.
I talked to my neighbor into buying American Home Shield's service ‘cause I had such good luck with them for the most part. She’s got a very high dollar swamp type cooler. She did the claim the first part of last week and the claim got assigned to somebody. That company’s supposed to call her but as of yesterday, they still hadn't.

The rep said the gentleman from there would call me when he is 30 minutes away from my rental property. Since he came, the furnace has been functioning well. I've been with AHS for a while now and I've always been pleased with what they do.

I had to fix my pool and it was 2,500 and then the heater was $2,500. I decided that it's better to have a warranty for everything in the house, but then I try not to go through the warranty company, sometimes. I had an air conditioning thermostat issue and I paid out of my pocket because this is a brand new AC. In the past, I had a bad experience with other companies, but I don't wanna go all the way every time with a home warranty.
I live in Upland, and I have a multiple properties, including in places like Utah and Aliso Viejo. I have a management company handling two of them. For claims, I call sometimes online. For a rental property, I told my tenant to call the warranty company and do the appointment on my behalf because I don't know her schedule. I gave her everything.
I have Choice as well as American Home Shield and I pay for multiple properties a month. I had an electrical issue and then a dishwasher issue one time in the beginning of April. Something was stuck to my three-year-old dishwasher and the contractor cleaned it and flushed it. The guy was nice, but I have to have a couple more experiences, and then I can tell my friends they can try American Home Shield.

I had issues with plastic internal mechanisms in my tank which were worn out. Because of that, water wasn't flowing properly. SDL Plumbing was very thorough. The tech had the plastic mechanism needed in his truck and he replaced what I had in less than half an hour. He had his mask on and wore shoe boots and did everything he could to take precautions against the pandemic. Home Shield is world-class. I've used other home services before and they tend to send in Podunk companies to get the cheapest deal but AHS sends in quality companies so they are a great choice.

The hot water heater rusted out. I called in a claim with AHS and the rep I spoke with was fantastic. They sent out Cogar Plumbing and everything went very well. The process was smooth as could be and easy. The techs were great and professional, too. They cleaned up behind themselves and were wearing masks the whole time. They had to replace the heater and it took two days to get the replacement.

The water heater was not functioning as it should. The AHS website worked pretty well when I placed an online ticket order for it. K & K did an excellent job. Everything has been functioning very well. We run an in-home daycare so having hot water is pretty important. It has been a pretty positive experience with American Home Shield, so far. It came with the house when we bought it and then we renewed it because it paid for itself.

I've been with American Home Shield before and I changed debit cards. I never thought the service had been canceled. This time, I've had them for a year and a half. Recently, I filed a claim for a clogged mainline and Discount Contractors did a great job. They came in about 3 days after I filed the claim and it took them 30 minutes to repair it. The guy knew what to do. The only thing I needed to do was give them access to power. However, they were supposed to give me a quote for the estimated repairs that they recommended but I never received it.

My AC wouldn't blow out cold air and wouldn't work at all. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and a guy from May Heating and Air came to do service. AHS doesn't take long to send their contractors out. They were gonna send someone else out initially and I told them that contractor would take too long and that they should find me someone else who could come out earlier. The tech from May Heating was nice and professional and he was able to fix things that same day.

The fridge door was sticking. The walls were caving in. I filled out a thing online and it's simple. It lets you file a claim quick. I did it off my phone. American Home Shield gave me the name of the contractor that would be calling me and I have no problems with the contracting company. They were great. They were fast and came in professionally. However, everything is still bad. They couldn't fix the problem. The equipment has to be replaced. I had to contact American Home Shield five days after the contractor was there because American Home Shield hadn’t contacted me back.
When I contacted them for the replacement, those were there but it took me five hours to get with someone on the replacement team. After it took me five hours for someone to speak with me, the email with the instructions wouldn't come through. They had to send it a couple times before it did. After that, I'm still waiting for the check to refund me for the equipment I purchased. It's horrible that anyone has to spend five hours on the phone and here we are at almost the end of August and I'm still waiting to get a refund.
This is the first time I had to call American Home Shield and get a full equipment replacement. Before that, it was a part that had to be exchanged. Again, the contractor was friendly, on time and gave me the right expectation. They told me they didn't have the part they needed. It had to be ordered and it would take a week. It came before the week was over and they were able to install it.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. My name is Stacy and I have just sent you an email as I would like to contact you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

American Home Shield sent Mountain Appliance Services to service the washer and dryer. The dryer was running, and the clothes were extremely dry and hot. And it continued to run, so the timer wasn’t working. The washing machine gets lint on all of my black clothes, and that's really not been resolved. As far as submitting the claim to AHS, I went on my computer and looked for their information, and I contacted them. Their website was very user-friendly. They gave me a timeframe that someone would be contacting me and someone did contact me within that time.
The guy from Mountain Appliance Services was fine. He asked to use my white vinegar and something else. I was surprised he didn't have the stuff that he would need knowing what he was coming to service himself. He said that we'd have to take the housing out and run it with really hot water after he ran one cycle with the white vinegar and that should resolve the problem. The washer is only a year old and I've never had a washer that leaves so much lint behind on the clothes. I run them through the dryer thinking that's going to take the lint off, but it doesn't.

When we call, we usually get a technician the next day. It has been prompt. The man from Myers that first came out thought he fixed it. Water was coming out the bottom of the part of the AC inside the house and it made a funny noise. The tech took it apart and cleaned it out, and found gunk inside that might have been making the noise, because it has not made the noise since.
The tech flushed out the line that he thought might have been clogged up, and said that could have been causing the water. But he said it also could be a crack in the pan, and he wasn't sure. He said, "Just watch this and if it continues, it's a crack in the pan." It did continue. We're having the pan replaced now. His first attempt without going straight to the big repair, to hope it was just a clean out job, was good. We had a plumbing problem before this ac problem and my husband forgot that we should go through Home Shield. We called a plumber of our own and he did a terrible job. He recommended Roto-Rooter and that was ridiculous. And then we remembered Home Shield and they sent a plumber who fixed it.

One time, our air conditioner wasn’t cooling and living in Florida, we need the AC. Without American Home Shield, we wouldn't have been able to afford getting it fixed. Getting it fixed was a tremendous help. I filed the claim online and it was user-friendly. The contractors didn't follow through with their timeframe of contacting me and I had to reach back out to them, but then afterwards, I was given a timeframe. A technician then came and he was friendly and knowledgeable. The air conditioner has been great since the repair.

The dial of our dryer was broken. The website of AHS was great when I submitted a claim. The contractors were here quickly and solved the problem and were back out when they could get the heart and did it within 10 minutes. They were great.

My recent claim with AHS went really well. National Platinum had to come out a couple of times about the ice maker, but they kept coming back and got it. So, it's supposed to be working. It just started holding up again this morning. I'm gonna have to call them again, but they've been really good to come out and do what we needed. He replaced the eye on the range top and it's working good too. The service of AHS has been good. They've responded fast whenever I call them. It was written in that the buyer provided us with a year home warranty, and then we decided to continue it. It's an older home and we were just concerned. We wanted to make sure everything kept working. If it didn't, that we had something to fall back on.
However, the people that they use, Asurion, for the electronics, we had a TV go bad, and if it was gonna cost a regular $75 for the service call. Then, they had us try a couple of things and it didn't work. Instead of coming out and taking care of it, they were gonna send us a box, we had to box it up and send it in. Then, they were going to look it over and decide if they could fix it or if they would even replace it. So, we just decided that was more trouble than what we need to go through and probably more money, so we just bought another one.

Being a single person, when something goes wrong, I don't have the repair knowledge. So, it's easy for me to call. I'm glad that they have places like American Home Shield where you can have an insurance for people like me where I'd rather pay for something that I can use rather than not have it. Almost all my family has one. They said that if I got it and I love it, they were gonna get it too. I've got four family members that joined them because of me.
My oven wasn't working right. When you turn it on, you have to keep turning it off, and then turn it back on and off. It would go off, and then you turn it back on and off. The technician from Mojack had to do several things to determine the issue and he had to order two different parts. He replaced the part that was showing as the bad part and then, it still wasn't working right. So, he tried one more thing and when he did that, it kicked in and I haven't had any more problems. I told him he’s a genius. He did an excellent job.
