My downstairs drain was clogged and American Home Shield's contractor from Sewer Quest came out and snaked it out. They didn't get the trap back though and it was leaking so I did a recall through American Home Shield. The techs came back out and fixed that. Other than that, they did a great job and they were very polite. They were clean and wonderful. They wore their masks and boots and they swept up. They didn't touch my walls either or got them dirty which was something that the last plumbers did. Everything has been fantastic since they came. I've been very pleased with AHS.

Submitting a claim with AHS was really easy. We were very surprised at how simple it was. I'm very digital too. It's really nice how it's all so we can submit it online. I'm not like waiting on hold. At first, we were a little confused when we had submitted the claim with AHS. Because I got an email that said the contractors were coming in two days. Then I got a phone call. They verified that they were able to come the next day.

Both of the email and the phone call listed the same time so I was like, "Wait. So tomorrow, not Friday?" She was like, "Yeah. We can do it tomorrow." I was like, "Okay, perfect." Then I never got a follow-up after that. The email never changed. So, the next day I called. It was the day that they were going to come. I was like, "I just wanted to verify that you are coming today. Like on the phone yesterday, you did say today, but I never got an update email. So I wasn't sure which day it was for sure." The rep was super nice. She said, "Yeah. It's today. Our system's weird. So I will just send an updated email."

When the contractor arrived in terms of safety precautions for COVID, he was wearing a mask the whole time. He asked us originally what was going on. We explained, a really brief overview and we went straight down to the furnace room. Then he took off the front of the furnace and noticed that the wires were not connected. We had someone put in a thermostat. Apparently, the person who was putting in the thermostat didn't finish the wiring job so they were disconnected until the technician was able to rewire the bed that was in the furnace. In general, we are super happy with American Home Shield. We’ve used them twice. So super quick and the issues have been resolved perfectly both times.

American Home Shield was recommended by our Realtor. Reporting a claim to them was pretty easy. I figured out what to do pretty fast and everything went along pretty smoothly. I had a claim for rekeying and they sent Ameri-Tech Locksmiths. The contractor showed up on time. He asked me what I wanted to do. He was professional as well. He was a really nice guy. I will use him again.

There was a water leak from the downspout of the shower, but it turned out that A-American Plumbing concluded it would be the grout and caulk. They're not permitted to do the fixes from secondary damage. I'd imagine that AHS knows. The idea was if it was a water leak, then it would be covered, but not on this aspect. They were good.

The pipe was freezing in the fridge and that created a whole level of ice on the bottom. And then it would leak all over our kitchen floor when it reached a certain level. I filed a claim with Home Shield. The website was easy to navigate. Home Shield always says that the contractor will contact me in 24 hours, and they usually do. And then, the contractor would tell me when would be a good time. We set that up on our end so I know exactly when to expect them. Frontier's tech then came in, did his job, told me what the issue was and left. It was easy. Frontier fixed our freezer and our stand-up refrigerator. The freezer in that fridge has been working perfectly. Our experience with Home Shield has been great this year. After what just happened this past week, you should do it.

My air conditioner wasn’t turning off. It doesn't get to the temperature that I set the thermostat to. I put in a request through the American Home Shield website and it was very easy to use. It said that Cozy Comfort Heating & Cooling will reach out to me and set up an appointment, and their technician did. The technician ended up coming out twice because the first time, it did get a little bit cooler but it still wasn't hitting the temperature I would set on the thermostat. The second time he came out, he put a little bit of refrigerant in the AC unit. But he said that the AC unit was working but there could be other factors that might be causing it to constantly run like the insulation in the house, the windows or stuff like that.

The AC is still not reaching the temperature that it’s set at. The technician said that there was nothing they could do about it. They just let it go. But the technician did try to fix the issue. I totally understand that there may be other issues that are causing the thermostat not to turn off. Overall, American Home Shield has been great. I've had my refrigerators go out and they have solved that issue. They've been great about all the other issues that I've had. I have recommended them to a couple of my friends that are homeowners as well.

A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out for our AC. The unit was working and running, it was just a bad capacitor. Every time it stopped running, we had to kinda kick-start it. Once we had them fix it, they replaced the capacitor. A few days later, the whole unit quit. They claimed that to be a normal failure. I had gone onto the AHS website and did the still not fixed button then they sent the technicians again. When they found out and determined it needed a new compressor, the technician told me I had to call Home Shield. Home Shield discussed with me that they would not cover the full portion and somebody would reach out to me to determine if they would pay to have it replaced some X amount or if I wanted to continue with A-US Air.

It was very ambiguous when I was on the phone. I asked them to send me a bill in writing of what I would be charged and why I would be charged it, they would not send me that information. Then they said they would not take credit card or would not pay through the American Home Shield app. I had to pay A-US Air directly. It was very ambiguous on the side of American Home Shield. Finally, they called me back almost a week later after the compressor's already been done to discuss a cashout option if I did not want to get it fixed, that they would pay me some prorated amount for the unit. I did not get that call. I just got the message and it was already too late. They charged about $495 to replace the compressor on top of the home warranty. Now, it's been 28 days and the unit is not working again.

We've called them out on another AC unit in another property and they fixed it. But then it still doesn't work properly. We opened it up and found out there was a wire that shorted the contactor and had to fix it ourselves. They have come out and fixed other things for me previously, but it seems like everything they had worked on needed to be worked on again.

I'm dissatisfied with the current side of things. American Home Shield should improve on their communication and owning up to their repairs and initial investment. Nowhere in my original contract does it say that I would be charged for replacement of a faulty unit or that they would prorate a unit based on its age. It seems like a golden apple, it's just not right in the middle.

My recent claim experience with AHS was great. The contractor was wonderful, prompt and professional. The AC wouldn't cool and so what he diagnosed was a coil that had failed in the old unit. That was what they got hold of and came back and replaced. Everything is fine now. The people AHS sends out are quality people. Sometimes you have to follow up though. It's a little easier to get service if you do their online system rather than wait on hold for a live person. The first time I used the online system of AHS was this last time. It worked great so I will do that from now on. I liked it. It was very efficient.

We opted to get our own microwave because the one they were replacing it with was another brand from what we already have in the kitchen. They sent us the paperwork to get the replacement for it done. This is our second year with American Home Shield and we had the three-by-three appliance combo, which is probably the best one to get. Normally, we submit claims online but we had to do a phone call the other day because we had two claims and it only lets you do one online at a time. They should allow you to be able to make two different charges online.

With my recent claim, the first day that the contractor came out, they changed some lightbulbs and told us nothing was wrong. It was something with the connection in the living room. As soon as they left, the lights turned back. It was still doing the same thing they were doing when they left. We had someone else come back out the next couple of days and he fixed what we thought was wrong, which was something in the breaker. They could have avoided having two trips if they just fixed it the first time. But they got out pretty quickly the second time.

I had American Home Shield for years because I have a home in Texas under them and right now, we're kind of mad at them. I found out recently when we were doing some research that they've been taking out two payments a month for over a year. They were taking two payments out of mine and two payments out of my husband. Part of it is my fault 'cause I hadn't been checking as close with my automatic account. We've talked to two people on the customer service and nobody seems to be able to help us or call us back. Yesterday, someone had the nerve to call to say that they weren't able to take the payment for the condo. It's like I have more payments than I need. Someone needs to call us about these payments that AHS has taken out over this year that needs to be reimbursed.

We had a plumbing issue and we got a handyman who does everything to fix it. He stopped the problem, but it ended up being a temporary stop. Then a week before we called Home Shield, I went downstairs to go through something. I realized that the commode was making so much noise. We needed to find a plumber for real. We had been struggling trying to figure out how we could actually find a plumber that was reputable and affordable. We just couldn't figure it out. Finally, my mom said, "You know what? I got a crazy idea. Let's just look to see if Home Shield will cover plumbing." So we called them.

The guys from High Priority Plumbing came in and they were wearing their masks and booties. They asked me if they should come in the front door and go through the house or if I wanted them to come through the bottom. They were nice and professional. They took a look. They explained what the problem was. They had the part that they needed on the truck. They installed it. They gave us the estimate and told us more about what they found when they were in there. Then they politely left, which was great in this Corona time. So far, I highly recommend them.

Having American Home Shield, we like the idea of not having to try to figure out all the things ourselves. We like having that peace of mind where when there are some major things go wrong, they potentially are covered and you don't have to come out of pocket for that entire expense. That peace of mind was so great to us when we first moved in that we wanted to go ahead and see if we could have that extended. As a prime example, my mom and I had no idea how to go about finding a plumber at all, but Home Shield has a network.

At first, we weren't really sure how the claims process worked. There's like a flat fee for using the service, but beyond that, we weren't sure how it works. So, we just picked up the phone call initially. To call Home Shield was a big hurdle that my mom and I had to step over. We're still not really sure if there's gonna be an extra bill from the plumber later on. But so far, we're good.

The day we moved into the house, the garage door opened and closed, but the very next day, it didn't work. The light in the garage also didn't work and we didn't know what it was. We thought it might have been something electrical. We submitted a claim with Home Shield and it was extremely easy. I did it online. The tech from Chaviano's Electrical Solutions pulled in the driveway two minutes before he was even supposed to be here. He used safety precautions. He then asked, “Did you check the breakers?” Of course we did. It wasn't that. But he said, “What about the plug?” And I said, “What do you mean what about the plug?” I guess the plugs that have the test and the reset buttons on them. Apparently, it tripped the plug. And that same plug was attached to the garage door opener and another plug. That's why they didn't work. The tech literally came out, pushed a button and it all worked again. We didn't even think about pushing a button.

The blower motor seemed to fail and Total Air Care replaced it. The only thing I didn't like was the person was kinda afraid of me getting too close. He didn't show me what he did. But that was fine because I was not supposed to see that. He got a new motor because I saw him bringing that in. But he didn't give me a rundown of everything that happened. He said it was working and he fixed it. But I wanted to take a look in there to make sure everything was all right.

Two weeks prior to that, there was a leak on the outside unit. Another guy came out and he did pretty well. He replaced the piping. He soldered it and he added Freon. It's been working fine. The only thing with that one that I didn't like was he changed some piping on my stuff that if the evaporator overflows, I have a pipe running out to a pan underneath the furnace that it's supposed to give you an indication that something's not right. Then it's got an overflow switch that it kills the unit. That way, you know if something's not working right. But the guy cut the pipe and he put a cap on it.

He instructed me to put some vinegar here every month to keep it clean. But the thing is that maybe later on we might be renting out the house and I cannot just instruct people to continue to do that because they're not gonna follow through. I was unaware that I had to pay for the Freon out of pocket. I wasn't expecting to pay around 360. For the first time, I thought the warranty would cover everything. But overall, it was a good experience.

I had a washer claim with American Home Shield and they sent Sears out. It went pretty well. The only thing was the parts didn't come in on time, so it kinda delayed the process. I was waiting on the soap dispenser for the washer, and it took probably two weeks to come in. Other than that, once the parts came in, the team came back and was able to repair the units. The guys who came put a mask on, put the boots on their feet and kinda wiped the washer down a little bit once they were done with it.

They reached out to me through text and email. Once I put the request in, I'm assuming they were so backed up because it took them a week to come on site. But once the tech came on site, they had to order the parts which was another week or two. There were two parts that needed to be replaced. One part did come in the next week. But the soap dispenser took an extra week to come in.

Overall, American Home Shield has been okay. They could improve on some of the things that they cover and don't cover. In regards to the garage portion of it, they only cover the electronic portion of it. But if I'm paying a certain amount a year for support, and then the technician comes on site, you have to pay them a certain amount of money as well. As a real homeowner, we really don't have issues with the garage per se. The real issues we may have is really the hardware like the springs and things like that, and those are not covered. So when you calculate how much you're paying a month and a year, and then technician coming on site, you could have bought like two or three springs.

I've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years. When I first got it, when I had central air unit issues, the technician would come on site and replace whatever needed to be replaced. If Freon needed to be added, it was added with no problems. But since last year, that changed. So now, anything over a pound, you gotta pay for the Freon. So if the Freon is low, usually it's over a pound. So you have to pay $10 or $20 for the extra pound. That may become an issue with the hot summer and you pay the $85 for a technician to come out, and then you gotta pay extra $50 because Home Shield doesn't cover all of the Freon that goes into the central air unit. Other than that, they have come out and taken care of plumbing and appliances and things like that that I had problems with. It's worth it.

Andrew Farren Plumbing came out for my plumbing claim with Home Shield. The tech saw that there was water coming down and I turned the water off so it would dry. Then he went upstairs to the bathroom and all he said was that the bathroom floor is not level so my toilet was probably not seated and that it's not a plumbing problem. For him to say that my bathroom floor has to be replaced, I thought he would have at least lifted up part of the floor or behind the floor to see that the wood was wet but he didn't. I had no water in the bathroom floor so it was evidently something that was dripping down the pipe. Right now, I'm not satisfied. I wrote Home Shield back and I didn't get anything back from them. I've been paying for them for years and I've only had a few things done. This was very disappointing.

There was an issue with our oven and with the icemaker, and the contractor came out and looked at it. It took a couple of times to get the parts but it seemed like they did a good job. I had some issues when American Home Shield sent out a contractor though. My wife was home and they did not ring the doorbell. They said they did but she didn’t hear it. So, they had to come back. It was a big mix-up but they fixed the problem.

It didn't seem like the oven could be repaired. It wasn't heating to the temperature that it was supposed to be. It said it was the temperature but my mother-in-law who cooks in that kitchen said it was not cooking the food at the right amount of time. The repairman was very good-natured and he didn't see that but he understood where we were coming from. He said it may be the part and he fixed it. It was something about the back of the oven. The technician also fixed the icemaker and he said some other issue that was not related but we may have to fix that in the future. Now, it’s the dispenser that’s not working. So, it’s a separate thing and not connected to the repair. It was a satisfactory experience with AHS.

I had a backed up toilet and American Home Shield sent a tech from Blue Star Plumbing. However, he didn't do anything. he told me that he would have to get out on our roof to try and unclog it. He would have to go through the relief air valve because I didn't have one for that toilet well. He said AHS wouldn't cover that and he wanted to charge me $325 to do it. I told him "no thanks". I wish he did more than what he did. Still, I'd recommend AHS.

For a few days, our air conditioning wasn't cooling off. We would be sitting in the house and it would be almost 90 degrees in the house. We would look and the AC was running but it was still hot. We would turn it off and sometimes when we turned it back on, it would blow fine for a few days then it would do the same thing. That happened for about a week or so before we called American Home Shield. They sent another company out here that didn't do anything.

When we called American Home Shield back, they sent out Arctic Cooling. The first time they came out, they didn't know if it was the motor or just the capacitor, but they said that they would change that out first then they would come back and do the motor if it was still an issue. At that time, they said if it broke down again or wasn't working still, it would probably be the motor that needed to be changed out. They came out a second time and fixed that. Our AC has been working fine.

The only issue I had a problem with was the first company that was sent out to my house. That was not a good experience. The people from Arctic Cooling, on the other hand, were very professional. They had on their masks when they came and their shoes were covered up. They asked us questions like what was going on. The first time, it was two guys that showed up. They went outside, the guy looked at it and said, "We think this is what it is." When he took out a part, he brought the part back to us. He had my husband feel it and he said it was overworking itself. My husband could tell that it was actually switched out. On the second visit, another guy came. He also had his mask on and they introduced themselves. They had on their shirts, tags, and everything. And the guy said, he was gonna look outside. He did whatever he needed to do, came back, and told us he completed the job. He asked if we had any questions.

Everything has been great with American Home Shield. One thing that was a bit frustrating is the customer service rep that I talked with when I was having an issue. It was hard to understand. It seems like every person that I've talked to has a heavy accent. I was frustrated with the company that came out here so I was already frustrated when I talked with the rep. I know that was not their fault though. Another thing was the first time I called on the first company and the rep was trying to help out. She contacted the company after I couldn't contact them or they wouldn't respond back to me. She was able to get in contact with them and she asked me to give them another chance. The guy said he was gonna call back the next day but and he never called.

I called American Home Shield back and I got a different rep. She was pretty much starting over from the beginning and she wanted me to give them another chance. I told her I already did that. She was about to make me go through the whole process again. At that point, I asked if I could speak to a manager. She spoke with her manager or supervisor and they approved for another company to come out.

It is what it is. I called on a Monday morning, and the tech came out on Wednesday about lunch. He called, said he'd be here in about 20 minutes to half-hour and he showed up within the time frame. He chatted with me for a couple minutes about what was going on. He went over and looked at the air conditioner and did a couple things. Apparently, the unit needed a fan. He was really good. He said, “I got a fan in the truck, and we'll get it switched.” He probably took an hour and a half, and when he was done, he said, "Turn it on. Let's try it," and it worked great. It's still working good. I haven't called back, and it's been 100 degrees in Vegas. So, that's a good thing.

There was water in the sink and we checked it out. There was a hole in the garbage disposal. So when the water ran in the sink, it ran into the garbage disposal. I called American Home Shield and they handled the problem. I thought that the contractor would not be here for two or three days because we live in kind of a rural area. But the gentlemen called that morning and he said, "I may not make it today, but I'll definitely be there tomorrow. Can you tell me what's going on?" I told him that there was a hole and he said he would bring a disposal with him just in case.

My sister was here when they came that very day and they had it fixed when I got home. She said the gentleman said that the garbage disposal had a hole in the bottom. I was so impressed because we always have to wait and wait. They were right on it and she said they cleaned the area up. She said she has never seen anyone so neat and so professional in a long time. It was really great.

I've had American Home Shield for about 25 years. I've recommended them and they've taken it and they're very pleased with it. My husband was gone a lot when we were still working. So it was me and my mother who lived with us. I had to have someone to come and fix the product and not cost us a lot of money. So my insurance company had recommended American Home Shield. The only negative experience I've ever had was when they had been to come out two times this year for my air conditioner. They told me it was shot but it's still working.

The plumber said that it was ultimately due to the garbage disposal and they gave me some tips that I could do to make sure that it wouldn't get clogged up in the future. The service was good. I called American Home Shield and the same day, they let me know that the contractor had been assigned and would be contacting me. A-US was very informative. They quickly determined what the problem was and tried to remedy it but the system was too old. The work that I had done that first time they came out did nothing. I called the man back at A-US Air and told him that I still was not experiencing any difference in my home and that I was interested in buying a new compressor. So, because I had gone through American Home Shield, he was willing to give me credit for the previous work that they did when they came out. I went on and bought a new compressor and they came and it solved it.

I felt that I should have received more monetary credit for what I had invested the first time, seeing that I did not getting any results. And A-US knew I would not get results when they first performed the work. The man that installed the new compressor was very helpful. He gave me some tips on cleaning the filters and the vents, so I felt like he was investing me in the use of the air conditioner.

The Sears tech that came out for my washer was really professional. He did what he had to do. American Home Shield replaced the washer and they had contractors come out and deliver it. They were difficult. They said that my hookup wasn't going to work for that washer and that the drain was too high. I was talking to a friend of mine's husband. He owns a hardware store and he’s hooked up a lot of washers. I showed him a picture of it, so he googled it. Then he also showed me an owner's manual that it was not too high. It was within the clearance. He hooked the drain up for me and it worked fine. Then I had a licensed plumber come out because I don't want any warranty to be void. He said that drain is fine.

However, I put my washer on cold and I take my clothes out and it'd be hot. I couldn't figure that out. My son told me to check the hookups and the people that American Home Shield hired to deliver it and hook it up put across the hot and the cold water. The two workers were fine, but the guy that said that he was a boss was a jerk. He kept asking me personal questions like "Where do you work at?" "You should have your man hook this up." Why don't you got a man?" I told him that I was done answering personal questions and left the room. I felt like he was mad from that point on. I felt sorry for the two other guys that were working for him ‘cause he was breaking their backs too, yelling at them, how to get it up the stairs and they had to wear back brace.

But I love my washer and I'm glad that American Home Shield replaced it. I wasn't expecting it. I just was expecting it to be fixed. I'm glad everything worked out where it's in a proper drain. I did have to pay a plumber to come out but I thought I'd have him look at a couple other issues while he was out there. I recommend American Home Shield to all my friends and my customers. I'm a realtor and I sell it twice a month. That's why I got it 'cause I wanted to see how it works. I just wish that that company had a different guy in charge for the delivery service.

American Home Shield sent A+ Appliance regarding the refrigerator. American Home Shield's website is pretty manageable. Sometimes, I do feel a little bit lost because I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or not doing it right. Instead of sending an email saying, “Hey, they got this and that,” someone could confirm even if it’s through chatline and say, “Hey, we did receive your backups. Did you have any questions?” That is just to make sure that we are okay and I did it right. I’m not an online type person.

I had another incident with the dryer, and I didn't like the company that came out. Someone was supposed to be coming out, but they didn't say they were on their way. So I didn't know they were on their way. Most business companies will say, “Hey, we're 10 minutes away,” or “we're 20 minutes away. We're on our way.” They didn't do that. Then, I saw somebody knocking at my door. I looked in the window and I saw this man. There was no hat on, no name, and nothing of the sort. He had a regular car. I came out through my garage, and I had my dog as my little backup. It was just because I didn't know what was going on.

He said, “Hi, I'm here.” “Who are you?” He said, “Well, you sent us out.” My guard was up. He was not really telling me who he was. There was no ID badge. Then he said, “Oh, here goes your paperwork to fix your item in the house.” He said the company's name. And I said, “Well, how am I supposed to know that?” He said, “Well, I'm telling you and I have your paperwork.” I said, “You're gonna have to hold off for a moment. I need to call my company to see what's going on.” So I called AHS. The person who answered said, “Oh, I understand. Let me get to the bottom of it.” So, he called the third party, and the third party was able to verify the guy. They said they were sorry but to me, I felt like that was not good customer service because they had me scared.

When he came inside, he did his work. I checked on him periodically, made sure the doors were locked and then he was gonna leave without even telling me he was done. I came back outside again when I saw him leaving. He said, “Oh, everything's fixed. You're good to go.” When I had a problem with my refrigerator, the contractor texted me and said they were on their way. I liked the notification. The tech came in a regular car but he came out in a uniform. I could see the uniform name with the A+ Appliances. He came out and he said, “Hey, how you doing? I’m here to check your refrigerator.” He said, “My name is this and this.” He had his badge on the side and I could tell that was his name for real. He had his paperwork and his tools. He acknowledged himself. He said, “Is it okay if I come in your house to look at the refrigerator?”

He asked me questions about the refrigerator. He said, “I know the problem. We'll have somebody to come out. We're gonna have to reschedule. The company will call you to get a date that will work for you, okay?” Then he left. The next time, someone notified me that they were coming on the date that I requested. He still came in a regular car, which is fine. But he came out with a uniform. It's a totally different guy. He had his badge on his chest. I could see it. He had his paperwork. I knew exactly who he was because of the uniform. Also, he said, “Hey, is it okay if I come in your house? Would you prefer me putting on some booties or no booties?”

When he came in, he asked me, “Which way would you like me to go in your house?” I showed him the way. He did what he needed to do. He even explained it. So, his interaction was very well-informed. I was informed about the refrigerator. He told me every step that I need to. I asked the question. He told me what was the best result. I like that company. The first company, I didn’t care for it. This one was more safe, alert, and kept me on pack. I will recommend it to anybody because they did a good job. My refrigerator is working beautifully.

We had other claims with American Home Shield before this one. We had one that was fine and we had another one that cost $25,000 in damage to the house. It was the same air conditioner. We had a clog in the pan and it had leaked water underneath the air conditioning unit that slid into the closet and had to be repaired.

I've had good luck with American Home Shield. I've had them for just about every home that I've owned in the last 20 years and I've enjoyed their service. It gives peace of mind that if something goes wrong, they're there and it's a simple deductible. They have proven vendors that they know can come out and do the work and you don't have to research to find somebody you can trust. I had two claims on two different properties this past year and both times, they were perfect. We had a guy from Cascade Plumbing come out. He showed up on time and fixed the problem. It was a simple problem and he did a great job. He's very professional and courteous. He didn't make a mess and everything was like it should've been.

There was a pipe that was leaking. I have a well system, so the line that comes out from the well to the foundation wall goes into my main supply line. There was a T there slightly above where it entered and the nipple in-between the threaded pieces that combined the two T's together was cracked and leaking. Dan, the technician from Barker Services, came out and pretty much knew exactly what it was. He and I both had the same idea. He did everything that he was supposed to do and showed me the actual broken nipple. A good portion of the threads were missing, so he said it just failed over time. I asked him if the other ones looked okay from what he saw and he said yes. So, he put the new piece in, threaded it all back together, and everything was A-okay.

I have a different issue with that line, but I had somebody else come out and do something on it. It seemed that right in a similar area, a piece of plastic had broken. So, I tightened the two clamps together and hopefully, that sealed it off. If not, no big deal. It's a $5 part and I'll take care of it. Other than that, everything's working great with the repairs that Barker did. I've had them out a few other times to do other things aside from what was covered under the warranty and they've been fantastic. Dan was very professional, too. Since it is the time of COVID, he wore his mask and was extremely clean. He also cleaned up after himself and explained the situation.

It was not even a couple of hours that the Roto-Rooter guy called me and asked, "Can I come at this time?" I said yes and it was done. He was very knowledgeable. He knew what he was doing. He gave me an estimate of how long he thought it would take and it even took shorter. He was an expert and it was great. If I ever have an issue next time, I would definitely ask for him if I'm able to. I've also recommended him to other people in my neighborhood 'cause he was so good.

American Home Shield's service is great. I've had them since we moved into the house and this is our third year that we're living in the house. I like them a lot. However, during COVID, the wait times on the phone are over an hour to speak to a live person. That really bothers me 'cause my time is valuable and I can't afford to do something like that. The other complaint that I have about them is that, for some reason, when I do call in a live person, sometimes they're very hard to understand. I don't know if English is not their first language, but 90% of the time, I can't understand them. It gets very frustrating because of that.

When the air conditioner goes, you have to wait several days to get it repaired. But the contractor came out the same day and it went very well. We called sometime in the afternoon and they were here at 5:00. They replaced the capacitor, which is probably a normal repair job for an air conditioning unit. The technician has been here before. He did his job and I can’t complain. We chatted a little bit and he knew exactly what the issue was. He diagnosed it and did his repairs. He was very professional and he didn’t even need to come in the house. He did all those repairs from the outside unit. We also had a hot water heater repaired and the contractor for that was not local. He was probably 45 minutes away so that was a day or two till we got our hot water repaired. But my experience with that was good, too.

The lines of the AC kept freezing over so the house would not cool down. When turning it on and set a temperature, it will go up into the 80's. AHS sent the first guy and they added more gas to the system, which helped for two days or maybe a month, and then it went back to the same problem. The new guy that came out opened up the AC up into the attic and apparently, it was clogged with a lot of stuff. That seemed to have fixed the issue.

If possible, I would like to be able to put in the comments when I put the claim online. I can put what's wrong with the system, but AHS doesn't have an option to request the same people that came last time 'cause I feel they did a good job. Because then, they send a whole other person sometimes and it's like I have to re-familiarize them with the system. In comparison with other services, AHS is on the high end of price but because I've had them for so long and I know they come out and do a good job, I just pay the extra 'cause I know it's gonna get done.

American Home Shield has always been good. Out of all of the home warranties that I've had before, they are the best, so I appreciate their service. I also appreciate the timeframe that it takes to get something fixed. I've called in the last three years for at least three different incidences, and in that timeframe, they have always responded very quickly, had the thing checked out, and had it resolved within no more than a three-day window.

During the heatwave here in Texas, it was 106 degrees and 89 at night and then the fan motor on our air conditioning unit burnt out at 1 o'clock in the morning. The very next day, I got onto Home Shield and then put in the claim. By 1 o'clock that same day, Anytime Air came out, figured out the issue, and had it fixed by 3 o'clock in the afternoon. I didn't expect that quick of a response or the fact that they were able to fix it in the timeframe that they did. They didn't have the part in the truck, so they ran back, got it, and then came back and fixed the AC within 35 minutes. They were very professional and everything's been working fine since then. It's cold now because we got the cold front here and I’ve had my air off the last few days, but we had the AC on for another week and a half after that.

Anytime Air is an amazing company. As a matter of fact, I hired them to add an extra couple of runs on my air conditioner and they did a great job with that. We did a conversion in my garage, and I hired them to do that as well. They did that in one full day. It took them less than three hours to do two full runs, re-do all of the runs in the house, make sure they were all open and clean, and make sure that everything was running properly. In two and a half hours, they had the entire house up and running again. I'm very impressed.

The AC stopped cooling and it was an issue that could not be fixed when it was leaking. Even though the technician put some Freon in there to hold things off until the unit got replaced, it was still leaking out and it froze the evaporator. American Home Shield sent SN Heating & Cooling and I didn't have trouble with them. They were great and amazing but I had an issue with my refrigerator. I had a technician here in July because all of a sudden, something was leaking underneath. It got into a situation where he said that it was not leaking from the front but he didn’t know where it was leaking. We had the fridge pulled out and after he was trying to check things in the front, he pulled out my crisper and checked it to see if it was leaking there. I said that it was not leaking from there and it's not dripping from inside to go on the outside because you would be able to see that flow.

When he went to pop the crisper back in, he was moving it around and trying to get it to get into the slider, and he was very nasty about it. I told him that he had to be a little careful because he would break the sides. I told him to let me put it in and so, I did. But he was not happy about things. He told me to let him decide what was wrong with the refrigerator. The guy was back there and he was taking the back off the bottom of the fridge and I asked about the water down there on the bottom. There was something in there that’s gotta be leaking. He said to let him decide. It was not a problem but he was getting nasty with me.

A refrigerator has a plastic tubing that gets attached with a nut and then, it's the copper tubing that goes to the sink. All of a sudden, he asked us to turn the water on. As he was holding the tube, he said it was leaking. My husband checked that last night because that was one of the first things that we checked and it was not leaking. He said, “Well, it's leaking now.” I said that it wasn’t leaking last night and that there’s got to be something else that’s got to be doing this. I told him that where it was leaking was right at the lug nut. The plastic had a cut in it and it looked like a clean slice. I told him that it was not a problem to fix it then. He said that he couldn’t do it. It was a plumber’s job and that it was not part of the refrigerator. I said that when you buy the refrigerator, that plastic tubing is attached to the refrigerator. The plumber’s job is to attach the copper tubing with a little nut to attach it to this plastic piece.

He still said it was a plumber’s job and I asked him if he was not going to fix it. He said it was not his job. I asked him if he had parts to do it. He told me not to tell him how to do his job. I was just asking him if he didn’t have parts for simple fixes like that. If my husband saw that this was broken and if that was what was leaking, my husband could have fixed that himself. But it wasn't that and something else was leaking somewhere.

We didn't see what he was doing back there. Firstly, my husband didn’t see him slice it because he didn't know what to do with how to find the other thing that was leaking. The tech got argumentative with me. My husband came out from where he was and he said that he would appreciate if he didn't talk to me like that. The tech said that we were trying to just get this resolved and that thing needed a plumber to work on it. My husband said that when we got that refrigerator, that tubing was already attached and he replied that all we got to do was cut it and then put it on the lug nut there. I asked him if he couldn’t do that. I paid American Home Shield a hundred bucks to do this. He said it wasn’t his job and he got argumentative with my husband.

Meanwhile, I was waiting for American Home Shield to come on the phone. I was on the phone with Sears because I didn't like his attitude, the way he was talking to me, and all of a sudden now he’s trying to say it's not his job. I said that I was gonna get Sears on the phone right now and he said he didn’t care who I call. I could call whoever I want. It was starting to get to the point where my husband was saying that it would be best for him to get out of our house and he told me to call the police. This guy was getting to my husband’s face and I thought there was gonna be a physical altercation in my kitchen. The guy grabbed the stuff very nastily. I asked him his name and said Mr. Band Aid. I told him that I didn’t think that was his name and that he didn’t have to have an attitude like that.

Sears came back on the phone with me and I told them what was going on. They apologized and said that they would send another person. I told them that the guy said it was not his job and it was up to a plumber to do the job. They said no and the technician said there was no reason why. I said that I've got American Home Shield on the phone and that if this was an issue last night, I would have had it resolved last night. I didn't need to have a plumber to do this. This guy should do it. We paid them $100. I was on the phone with all afternoon between Sears and American Home Shield. Sears told me that he filled out the paperwork and said there was not a charge. That was because he knew what he did was unprofessional.

Within half an hour, I get an email with the invoice that says there was a charge of 129 but then underneath it, it said there was no fee. I didn't know what that meant because it said “Money Due by the person.” It said 0, because it showed, “Labor 129” but I've already paid $100 to American Home Shield. They paid them where the guy told me that there was no fee and they were not charging me. I've been going back and forth and I’ve called American Home Shield five times now. Every time I call them on the phone, they said that they were gonna get Sears on the phone because the technician never called them to give them any paperwork.

I asked why they still paid Sears if the technician didn’t give them paperwork. They told me that I should probably get the $100 back from Sears. I asked why I should get the $100 back from them. I didn't pay them. I paid American Home Shield and they owe me the $100 as far as I’m concerned. They paid Sears when they shouldn't have especially before the job was even considered complete. They said it was completed and I said it never was. He didn't do anything and there was still a holdup. I ended up getting someone else to fix that.

Every time I'm on the phone, AHS was on the phone with Sears. I'm on hold, waiting for them to come back. And after a good 20 minutes, maybe longer, the phone gets disconnected. They're supposedly talking to Sears. The last person I spoke to last week said that he was still on the phone with Sears. I told him to put me back on hold. After coming back twice, I was still on hold. The rep was trying to talk to Sears and I said that the other person was supposed to do that three weeks ago. The other person before that was supposed to do that weeks ago but I never got a call back from American Home Shield to say that there’s a resolution now.

I was told in the beginning that if the guy doesn't turn in his paperwork, there's a problem there. I have not gotten back my $100 and I disputed on my credit card. I'll let my credit card companies deal with it and dispute it with American Home Shield to get me back my $100 because the service was not done. Sears said they will send someone else out but no. Sears is not walking in my door after that. That guy was very rude and unprofessional. AHS asked if we had someone else do it. I said my husband ended up fixing it. We had to pay money to fix it.

A month and a half ago, I recommended AHS to my sister- in-law who opened up an application with them. But I would not recommend them now. I'm just very disappointed. At this point, AHS needs to call me. When the call gets disconnected when I'm on hold, they do not call back. They have my phone number. I work in Customer Service and whenever a call gets disconnected, we call them back because we have their number.

No one wants to deal with it because they don't know what they're doing at this point. It's very rude that I've had to deal with five different people. I've had phone calls upon phone calls and hours on the phone with them. I've given them a whole month before I turned around and put a dispute in my credit card.

I’m still waiting for a response as to what's going on with the service that happened in July. They were at my house July 17th and still no resolution, which is downright wrong. They’ve got phone calls and records of me calling them. American Home Shield kept telling me that they would call me and get some information from me. They're not calling. They are calling for something totally different.

I called American Home Shield because there was condensation on the unit. The gentleman that came out was wonderful. He addressed the issue and he fixed it the same day. So everything was great with that. I did a claim on my water line to my house, which they got a plumber out, but nobody told me that it wouldn't be covered under the warranty at the time that I placed it. I wished they would have told me upfront that it wasn't covered. But they still got me hooked up with a fabulous plumbing company.

I also had a claim with an electrician. He fixed the issues but I would never ever, ever hire him to do anything else for me again because he was a jerk. The issue was that whenever I turned on all the units on the stove, it would blow the breaker. The tech said that we needed to replace the breaker. Then he said that if it still blows the breaker after he changed it, then it's not his problem, and that it was something wrong with the oven. He was even more crass than that. It was a professionalism issue. He told me he was coming that day, but he never text me or called me to confirm that it was done. When I got home, I saw that there was a new breaker in the breaker box and went and tested it and everything worked great. I looked the contractor up online and they have nothing but horrible reviews. So I would suggest that American Home Shield to not deal with them anymore.

They have provided wonderful service even though when I called in recently, I was on hold for so long that I ended up hanging up. That issue is probably related to corona and still, AHS's services have been A1. I have recommended their warranty to a friend. It's good to have.

I did a service request online for American Home Shield for the maintenance of my air conditioner. I got assigned a local contractor but they couldn't see me until the next Friday. I'm Las Vegas and with my AC not working, it was hot. I knew I could get an earlier appointment with another company so I tried to do that. Unfortunately, there were some managerial changes that made it so that the person whom I was speaking with at AHS was unable to change the work over to the company I wanted. I had to drop the existing work order and create another one. Then, the company that I wanted to service my equipment had to pick up the dispatch order instead of AHS assigning it to them. It took a simple 10-minute task but then it took 24 to 48 hours to get things done. Other than this incident, I've never had a problem with AHS. They've always been responsive. I'm happy with the contractor I selected. In the end, everything was great.

A to Z was on time and showed up when they were supposed to. They contacted me quickly. Their administrator appointment person was very polite and quick. So, it was a good experience. I like having AHS 'cause when we bought the house, we didn't really know it was close to failure or wasn't working too well. We've had a lot of stuff breakdown. For the most part, the claims with AHS have gone pretty well. But the big drawback is you can't pick your own contractor. We had a problem with our range, the exhaust fan wasn't working.

The first contractor didn't do anything. He didn't tell us anything. So we didn't know what was going on. The second contacted me that AHS reassigned it to. 'Cause AHS just picks the contractor sometimes randomly. Eventually, it was repaired but it took three weeks. Because the first one was incompetent and the second one just took a while to get the part. Recently, I submitted a claim for the timer for my pool pump stopped working. The contractors came out to replace it. They had to go get the part but did it the same day. It's fine now.

I'm very huge on reviews. So, I just went and looked who had the least amount of complaints of not paying or having issues, and just I compared them. It's like buying a car. I want someone who has the least amount of bad reviews because you're gonna get them, you're gonna make people mad. I know they're gonna be there. But I go further than that. If I need to, I'll read 1,000 reviews before I decide who to use, especially when it's my money. Altogether, Home Shield was the most positive and had the least amount of, "Hey, you're not paying my claims," in their reviews.

My recent went really well. Tech Tonics took care of everything. They got everything for us. The refrigerator was not working at all. It wasn't cooling. They said something was down and it froze up on it. It had to be defrosted, redone and cleaned out. And then on the washing machine, they said something about having to reset the computer on it because it was not spinning at all. They took care of both issues. They wore a mask and were very cautious of being around us and in touching stuff. They didn't bother anything and they cleaned everything well. They sanitized the fridge when they put it all back together. I don't know what I would do without Home Shield. This is my first home that I purchased. I went from renting to buying a $600,000 home. So, you can imagine the stress of that. I got 7,000 square feet. And I just did another claim this morning.

American Home Shield doesn't care if I have a problem. It's hard to get online to talk to people and when I try to resolve my issues online, there was no way I could do that. I simply had to put another request in. I couldn't say that my claim had been denied and that nobody was coming out or nobody told me that. I'd like it to be easier to contact them when you have a problem. I’ve already asked to speak to a supervisor and they refused to let me. I've also been told by a contractor that if they replace a part, American Home Shield quits calling them. So a lot of stuff goes unchecked because they don't want to lose their contract.

One time, my son had a light switch problem and American Home Shield sent two foreign men in a car with no parts. They didn't have anything to fix it and they never came back. But they took his $75. So my son went to Lowe's, got the part, came home, and fixed it. But we're out that $75. At one point, I had three different contracts for three different properties with AHS and I still have two. In the beginning, they were okay, but I'm looking for a new company because their service is terrible.

Last month, H and J Heating and Air came out and checked our AC. They told us that what we needed to put another filter in and that the core was a little bit dirty. So we were supposed to get back to Home Shield about it. Also, my dryer stopped working and we had called for someone to come in. The tech came and checked it out. They put the part in for the dryer but is stopped working last month. So someone was supposed to be out today to check my dryer again.

Any homeowner should have a home warranty. We have had American Home Shield when we bought our house in 2006 and we continue to keep them 'cause we're on a tight budget. If something breaks down, I don't have the money to take and pay for it. 56.99 a month is not bad for every month 'cause if an air conditioner goes out, I know it will cost thousands and thousands of dollars. With America Home Shield, whatever needs to be done, they've done it and they've been working ever since great.

We had a different gentleman that came out. I thought that gentleman was rather professional. He seemed to know what he was doing with the repair. But the repair apparently didn't take care of the complete issue because we were still having some problems so another gentleman came out yesterday and my lady was there. I’ve had American Home Shield since 2000. They're okay. Over the years, they've reduced a lot of the stuff they cover. So, it’s nice. Not as good as it used to be, but it is what it is.

One thing that I had that wasn't covered with the AC was the Freon. It was a $900 out-of-pocket expense. Also, last summer when my AC went out, the whole process took about three months to rectify, back and forth, and I was out of air for three months. It was one of those situations that dealing with the people with the work order, and they would order the part, and the wrong part came. They finally got to the root of the problem. That was isolated. That was the only hiccup I've had in 20 years. That and the cost of the Freon. But other than that, I can’t complain. Everything else has been decent and they're usually prompt.

Technician who came on 2020-0824 gave me 2 choices to repair leak. Going thru the wall $2000 and going thru attic $950. I confirmed that they can do the cheaper method of $950. American shield confirms they cover line replacement and cover labour. Need to provide access. The attic access is there for anybody who wants to. Keni at U.S Air of Texas says it is not covered by warranty. Opened claim on 2/24/2020 for an inoperable A/C unit. I authorized the $100 deductible payment to proceed. I received notification that a contractor had been assigned and was given the name. I contacted them and they told me that it would be a week and a half before they could come out. I found that unacceptable. I explained that my wife suffers from severe asthma and relies heavily on the the Hepa Filter built into the central heat and a/c system and that the extreme heat and current air conditions only add to her symptoms.

At this point I called American Home Shield, was placed on hold for almost 90 minutes. When I finally was able to talk to a live agent I explained the same situation to the agent. He said that he would see if he could find another contractor and try for expedited service. He gave me the name of another contractor and said they would contact me within 24 hours and that I could contact them myself as well which I did. I explained again the situation to this contractor and she informed me that the scheduling department responds in the order of claims received and that "I would receive a call when they call me". That was over 24 hours ago.

It is now 8/26/2020 and I logged into my account with American Home Shield only to find out that my claim is closed and also see that they processed the $100 deductible. I am currently on hold with them for another hour and a half minimum to try and talk to management. This is my second claim with this company. The first was for a torn seal on our clothes washer door. It was 10 days before a technician came out in his car with no parts. He spoke very little English and said that he needed to order the seal and would be back in a couple of weeks to install. In all I believe that it was 27 days from start to finish. I find this to be substandard service. The fact that it is almost impossible to speak to anyone is extremely frustrating, American Home Shield is a joke in my opinion and I will be cancelling my policy with them. I hope that this review with Consumer Affairs will help with preventing this from happening to others like me.

We had a water heater leak and the contractor came out to check it, came back and replaced it. It kinda rusted out on the top. They told me a whole bunch of things about that water heater. They said the vent from the water heater was also leaking. They had taken the pipe and put it together because there was such a long area to go from the water heater to the outside. That had to be done by Reliable Mechanical Services. Something had to be done to keep the carbon monoxide from coming into the house. They wore their mask and I'm very happy with them.

The only problem with American Shield is that we waited on the phone for hours. We have had over two hours. We just let that thing run until somebody answered. That’s the big issue. I get so angry and I don't wanna take it out on the person answering the phone but it's like, “Where are you people?” I'm unsatisfied with the length of time it gets to get through but I'm very satisfied when they answer. Then they would deal with it. The garage door is opening and closing, which is what it wouldn't do before. Sometimes, it would open. Sometimes, it wouldn't. But the thing is not completely fixed. He was really professional on explaining everything. I kinda kept my distance just to not make him feel uncomfortable. He had his mask on and all that.

I feel good about Home Shield. When I purchased my house, we bought the insurance. When I spoke to the rep, I made her aware of several things that I know I want to be covered one being all my pool equipment, my pool pump and my pool light. About two weeks before I had garage door issues, I had a problem with my pool light. We were swimming when my pool light just went out. I'm an electrician by trade. I tested the transformer and so forth. Everything was putting out. Apparently, something shorted out in the light.

When I called Home Shield to make the service call, I was informed that the pool light is not covered. The rep explained that to me really good. That kind of upset me a little bit because the main reason I got the insurance is to cover things that I didn't wanna have to come out of pocket if something does break to repair and so forth. But that's not a deal breaker. I'm still with Home Shield.

Also, I was so tired without my refrigerator so someone came to fix that. A board had to be put into our Monogram refrigerator. When the other part comes in, the contractor will come out. I wish we wouldn't have had to wait two weeks for the part. That was bad for a fridge. If the item is important for survival then it would be better if they could get the part quicker.

There's also something wrong with our oven. The tech has to put something in the back of the stove but he didn' have the part. He would have liked to have done it at the same time though. A long time ago, people also came to fix the dishwasher. The dishwasher works but it doesn't get the dishes dry. They were not good and they came out three or four times. American Home Shield initially sent out a different company, Foxcroft, and their tech lied to me. He didn't even open up the air conditioner and he said I needed the whole thing replaced. So, I called AHS and had them send a second opinion from a different company. Frog Pro, a different company, came out and fixed my issue on the AC. It was a blown capacitor inside the unit outside and it was an easy fix once it got figured out. He had it done in 45 minutes. It was a simple and obvious problem. The capacitor itself showed damage on the outside, so you don't have to hook anything up to it. You open up the air conditioning and it’s right there.

I’ve been with American Home Shield just since January and when submitting claims, I like talking to somebody over the phone. I’ve had no difficulties at all. But I hope that AHS took my recommendation to heart, that the company they contracted was not doing their job professionally. Also, they said they were gonna call me back once they heard back from Frog Pro after the technician has submitted his report. I paid for both claims and I wanted them to refund me my money from the original call where the first service tech lied to me. AHS never got back to me and I just gave up. It's not worth it.

We had a plumbing issue. I had a shower faucet, that's in the guts of the thing. There was a washer that needed to be replaced. The gentleman was trying to keep me up to speed on when they'd get here. The technician that came in was masked up. He did everything he needed to do right there. We take that pretty seriously here so that was nice to see. It was all good.

What I tell people about American Home Shield is it's not like calling a 24-hour plumber. You gotta wait a little longer than you would like to on occasion. But, that's just the nature of the business. I am waiting since I've had that plumbing issue, I've had another claim filed and I gotta have to follow up with that. I had a glass on the front of my oven shattered. The contractor was out here last week to order the part but I haven't heard back from him yet. But, I'm pleased with American Home Shield. I've been doing business with them for five years and I really don't have any complaints.

Action Rooter Sewer & Drain came out for a fitting that had broken on the water circulation pump. I thought they would be able to come out a little faster than what they did although I was able to shut the water off so it wasn't running everywhere. I called on Friday or Saturday and I thought they’d come Monday but they came Tuesday or Wednesday. They were waiting for one of their guys that was more familiar with what happened at my place. They could've told me that a little bit sooner but that's okay. I know they're busy. The guy had to take the pump off, get the old fitting out and put the new fitting in. Then he fixed this tank in the water heater itself. He checked to make sure everything was good, turned all the water on and tightened up a spot that was leaking on a spot that he didn't fix.

The heater has two knobs that set the temperature, one for the spa and one for the pool. Normally, should we put it on spa, when the spa turns on, the heater should come on or it's gotta be controlled with the remote. But neither of those are working. I have to turn on the pool knob all the way up so that when the system turns on, when the pump runs, then it starts. And if I wanted turn on the spa heater, I have to go all the way to the equipment, put that thing in that mode, come back, and then go all the way there and turn it off. I lost a lot of water and it was running the whole time for the past few weeks because we didn't notice it was turned on. It was horrible.

Penguin Pool came and they said American Home Shield wouldn't replace the heater. I didn't intend to replace it but it is not working as it's intended to be. Overall, I'm happy with Home Shield. I just don't know if it’s the service provider issue or them not covering this. I was planning on calling and asking why it wasn't fixed when the contractor came. Other than that, submitting claims is not too bad. Sometimes, they get it wrong. I give them problem A and problem B and when the contractor comes, they only have problem B listed. I had 10 calls in the last four years and that happened three times.

The AC downstairs was not blowing out cold air. My husband called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative to let them know. Last year, our upstairs unit stopped working and the issue was the compressor and they had to add Freon. A couple of months ago with the downstairs unit, the tech did see the same thing and reached out and made the representative aware and to schedule an appointment. We got the email notification about Myers. They called and then a gentleman came. Once he looked at it, he said the fan was no longer working. So he replaced that fan and then he gave me an actual copy of the receipt. It's been cooling since. We were satisfied with him. He was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I like it when someone would take a moment and try to let me know what's going on. I appreciate him taking very patiently answer my questions. He did a really good job.

When we did our renewal for this year, it was a lump sum amount and then we did the whole auto pay break it up. They have it withdrawn for our checking account. We were expecting equally divided payments. But when I go online and look at it, where I see the bill that they send out, it's off. I'm a numbers person so I like my things exact. I like it to reconcile. That is the only issue with American Home Shield.

Always There Appliance Repair came out pretty quickly. The contractor was very good. He diagnosed the problem quickly and ordered the parts, and that was it. We had to wait. American Home Shield got the parts in a little less than two weeks. Luckily, we still got to use the washer since it was still spinning. We just had to manually move it to spin. So, we were okay with it. Everything worked perfectly. The washer is washing like a trooper now. We've been with Home Shield for 20 years. We were very happy with the service.

The AC units were not cooling and there was some issues with some of their refrigerant levels. We asked AHS for a service and they have been responsive with everything. The vendor, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas, had a little bit of trouble scheduling the appointments but ultimately, they serviced both units to the degree that they're working now. The claims process has been easy and we've been pretty pleased. Other than that, we had to have the technicians come out a couple of times and one of the installations that they did was for a compressor. When they rewired the compressor unit, they did so incorrectly, so we needed another technician to come out and undo what the previous technician had done.

Beyer Appliance came out and the technician repairman was professional. He wore a mask, we did social distance. He did his thing and he left. It's just that it took like two weeks to get the part. But that's not their fault. When they finally received the part, a day or two I got a call and asked when they could come. it took them 20 minutes or so, and then he put the oven back and left.

I've been with American Home Shield for years and I've been comfortable with them. As far as being able to take care of my appliances, they've been out here before to work on my ice maker, heater, and air conditioner that's why I like them. I pay them a nominal fee every month and they come out whenever something breaks. I can do claims online or on the phone then somebody calls me up and says that he'll be handling my claim. When I first started, I'd call in and they look up my contract and usually I've got the contract number handy. Then they look up my address.

I lived in a condo complex that was built in 1980 and every other summer just about, my AC would punch out without fail. I had somebody come out and get the servicing done. They told me it needed to be replaced. I told them that American Home Shield decides if they're gonna replace it, so until then it would just keep getting repairs. I put in three compressors in that thing. But they just kept paying to repair it. Other than that, it was fine. They wound up replacing a washer and dryer unit for me.

My furnace was making an unbalanced washing machine sound and I made a claim to American Home Shield. When I pulled up the app on the phone, it wasn't air conditioning because it was coming from the furnace itself. The air conditioner is the thing outside. I was going to select Furnace but there was nothing under Furnace for sound, so I selected Other. They dispatched the contractor and the guy found it weird that we have no heat but it's summer. So, they called me up and I told them what was going on. He said that made more sense. We didn't know what to select.

The first guy came out and he went into the blower fan area and was looking for any obstructions or debris or paper or maybe the filter was rubbing. He said he was checking everything and said he couldn't find anything out of the ordinary that was causing it. We couldn't duplicate the noise at the time and he apologized. He said that if it does happen, to call back and they'll try to do their best to make it right. It happened again and I waited and it happened again. Then I went ahead and placed the call and they dispatched a different technician. He was able to go in there and he said he was visibly able to see a wobble in the fan. He had to call in and get permission, and he replaced the blower unit. We haven't had the issue since.

The two gentlemen from Warhold Mechanicals who came out were great. If I didn't understand a term, they tried to tell me in layman's terms what was going on. They're welcome back into my house whenever they want. If you know your furnace is running, there's something wrong. You shouldn't hear it and it shouldn't rumble like there's a train or thunder. The technician said that if we did not call it in, it would've been a catastrophic failure. It would've eventually rumbled and blew itself apart because that thing spins it so fast. They were able to preventatively stop that from happening because I called it in as a noise. American Home Shield isn't cheap but neither are the repairs you get if you have one. You're taking the chance but if you use it once, you broke even. If you have to use it twice, you're ahead of the game.

Everything was excellent. I don't have any problems with American Home Shield at all but I have one with Greenway. It started off with my drain stopped up. The man came out and unstopped it. After he did that, I noticed water started running from under my house. He had jarred some pipes loose under there. They didn't wanna own up that it was them.

The guy who came out said this, this, and this had to be done, and I would have to pay out of pocket money because he had to cut a hole in my bathroom wall to get to the pipe. I found out that access is covered under American Home Shield. The man couldn't do it that day because it was gonna require more time, so they had to reschedule me. The guy got busy and he couldn't make it to my appointment. It took me almost a month to get the leak resolved under my house. They had nets up in my house.

American Home Shield knew about it and they said that they were gonna ask them to get someone that's a senior serviceman to come out here and check it. The contractor came out here about four times before it got resolved. It took three weeks of them trying to just schedule somebody to get here. They were all saying that they would get here from 8:00 to 12:00 or 12:00 to 5:00. So, I usually ended up in 12:00 to 5:00, which was my whole day because there was not too much I could do between 8:00 and 12:00. The man told me that due to the pandemic, he had to hire a lot of new servicemen because a lot of their old ones were in quarantine. So, they were using new people.

But now, we have a leak that's even going into our master bedroom closet that backs up to the garage and the air conditioner. We tried to get him back or at least tell him what he thought was going on. He told my husband to text him with what was going on, he did, and we haven't heard a word. That's been Thursday or Friday of last week. We're not so happy with it, but that's why it was on my list to call American Home Shield.

It was an emergency. We were over triple digits. We're senior citizens and we have one option, we have to wait till Monday. That's kinda scary. I guess AHS would prefer that we paid another $75 even if this was something that was from the first visit. If it's the same issue, then it should be covered. But if it's not the same issue, then we'd have to go through it again. If I can't get this guy to contact us back just to find out what he thinks, then I don't wanna use them again.

We were having issues with our hot water heater. I went to American Home Shield's online portal to make a service request. The website was simple and there was ease of use. They said the contractor would be reaching out within 24 or 48 hours. Nutex Mechanical was assigned to us and their tech was good. He was straight to the point. It was a simple and easy fix. Since then, the hot water heater has been performing up to par and the way it should be.

The only thing was it cost $75 for the contractor to come look at stuff and most of the stuff they come look at isn't under warranty or within the contract. It was kind of a waste of money. American Home Shield was a part of my home purchase but once the warranty is up, it would be simpler and easier to call someone local that is familiar with the area and does free estimates and free consultations instead of paying $75 for someone that is outside of my area.

I submitted a claim online with AHS for the repair of the garbage disposal. The website was very streamlined and it was easy to submit the service request. Home Choice Services came out and they were very professional. They responded in a timely fashion and the content was quickly addressed. However, they felt that American Home Shield will not cover it so we ended up having to pay out of pocket. But while it would be considered a non wear and tear issue, that it was a small piece of plastic, there were no signs of negligence that resulted in it. It was just a small part of the garbage disposal itself that might have come loose and damaged the blade. But overall, that was a pretty pleasant experience from the contractor that came in and how quickly they responded.

I also submitted a request for the AC that was ultimately issued to World Class AC and that went pretty terrible overall. The request that was submitted was, and I was very clear that, I have small children some of which are under the age of three years old and that it could potentially become a suffocation issue for them. The ticket didn't get expedited the first time I called. I did not get a call from a contractor within the first 24 hours.

Then, once I finally got a call from a contractor, the contractor said he couldn't come out until late that week or the next week. I called and I couldn't get the ticket reissued on the same day because it was already under service through the website. My average wait time per call was about 90 minutes to try to get these things addressed. It was about three calls that I had to follow up before I finally got it reissued to a service technician. I had to spend five hours of my personal time just to get something done that should've been done correctly the first time.

The contractor came out to do the estimate and the service technicians were very professional. They brought their mask and quickly gave an accurate assessment of what was going on. But the service required approval and they tried calling twice and did not get a reply that same day. They deferred it until the very next day. When I called up to follow up on them to figure out where it was 24 hours later, I tried to call them twice. The first time, they hung up on me because they said that they have other people that they have to service. I called back and they said that me calling back 10 minutes after they just got off the phone with me was annoying. I ended up paying this out of my pocket because of this terrible experience and I had a completely different service technician.

It's kinda hit-or-miss with AHS. It's very heavily dependent on the contractors and whether or not they have structures in place to be able to handle some of the inefficiencies of being able to work through customer service. That's a really big problem. From the American Home Shield side of it, the biggest issue is having to call these things in and having an hour to two-hour wait time every single time. That makes things difficult for both contractors and customers.

We didn't have air for three days and it was extremely hot. On other occasions and other events, American Home Shield has been very prompt, but this time was a total fiasco. Initially, I had told American Home Shield my AC was coming down. Three hours later, I hadn't heard from anybody and my AC was still coming down a little bit at a time. I understand it was busy and they were trying to get somebody out here, but they didn't send anybody till the very end of the day.

I called back to Greenway and they said they never got a dispatch. Someone called me on his cell phone to tell me he was here, so I called him back on that phone. I said, “Look, nobody's still here. What am I supposed to do?” He goes, “You have to call in dispatch. I have to okay it with American Home Shield.” I felt good when the technician was here because what he said was it would work and everything would be fine. That's not what happened though. By the time Greenway got here, half my AC was down. They then couldn't do anything because a pipe was stopped up. I had to wait till the next day to get a plumber. I was told that an emergency plumber would be sent that night, but it never happened.

The next day, I called American Home Shield as they were reaching out to me on the other line to find out when a plumber was coming. They set one up and it was late in the evening before DrainGo got here, but they were fabulous and absolutely top-notch. They corrected the problem within 30 minutes, and we had air. They explained stuff to us too. Still, we are probably gonna make a change or cancel ‘cause I feel like the warranty is not working for us. We paid $1,200 a year plus $100 every visit. We’d only use them about four times a year and that could change, but I feel for the money that we're spending, we could just pay somebody out of our pocket.

American Home Shield is great. I had them for another home and for this home, I've had them now for about three months. I've already told several people about them. Recently, J&J Mechanical came out for my dishwasher and my refrigerator. I filed the claim through the website and it was very easy to navigate. It stated from there that they had up until 48 hours to contact me and that happened. They were able to fix the refrigerator. The first time they came out, they found that the seals on the front of the dishwasher were bad. They came out a second time and replaced the seal. We thought it was fixed. They left and I went to start a cycle on the dishwasher and it was leaking all over the floor again. They came out again and stated that it was a solenoid underneath. They came out again today and they said it's not just the solenoid, it's the seals going around the solenoid. They have to order them and they'll have to come out for a fourth time.

My air conditioner was making a lot of noise. I thought it was a bearing going out. It was pretty bad and it had gotten pretty loud. You could be watching the TV on a normal setting and when the air conditioner would come on, you'd have to max it. It was that bad. The contractor came out, took the whole fan unit out, tightened some bolts and put it back in. They added some kind of safety valve, but I paid extra for that out of my pocket. This time, I was perfectly satisfied. But the time before, I told the guys, "You're really lucky that you got back out here again because I was gonna call Home Shield and complain about your company.” I wasn't happy with what they've done the time before. This time, they've done a real good job. It was the owner and I was perfectly happy with them. They’ve done a real good, professional job. He was courteous.

It was easy to file a claim with AHS 'cause in their system, I could do a follow-up and a “Not fixed, send somebody back out,” although I could only do those on the computer and not on the mobile version. I never try to call them 'cause it ain't gonna work. It's easy to dial. It's just that I can't get anybody on the phone for hours. When I say hours, if just googling reviews for American Home Shield, I see people on hold for 13 hours or 14 hours. I've never talked to anybody in that company.

I had an AC issue and the second contractor Cote's Mechanical fixed the piece that was in there. This claim cost me more money 'cause it would not let the AHS system shut down. I don't know how the two individuals work together when they close out tickets, but they closed out the original repair ticket, so I had to pay another $100 to get the contractor to come back out. Luckily, this last time was the follow-up to that time, so I just caught it in the nick of time to get it to not cost me again. Nonetheless, I like the ease of getting people out once I file a claim online.

I had a pool equipment claim with Home Shield and it was when all this COVID stuff was starting. The contractor came out and they replaced the part, but they were supposed to come out again to test the heater part of the Jacuzzi. The water level was a little low that day. I called Home Shield and they asked to call the company directly to schedule them to come out because they were still within the time. But the company's office was closed. All I could do was submit an online request which was not answered. The heater part was not taken care of. But my latest claim was for the refrigerator and it's done. The only thing lacking with Home Shield is the follow-up with the appointments. I know I can call and request service and they will assign that to a company. But if there was a liaison, someone that could help assist connect the contractor with the consumer, that would be helpful.

It's pretty misleading that AHS doesn't cover everything. I was irritated about that. A home warranty is a home warranty. But I don't think you need to be a lawyer to have to sign up for a home warranty contract. First thing they do is point you to the fine print that they don't tell you about when you're signing up. I'll be looking for somebody else as far as home warranty goes, but Cote's did a great job. The first time Cote's came out, I had a 100 and something dollar bill and then the second time they came out, I had an 800 and something dollar bill, so that's not really a home warranty if I'm still having to pay. They replaced the coil, and there were additional parts required that were not covered. Cote's Mechanical was professional.

American Home Shield has been excellent for us so far. My wife handles most of the claim submissions and she's able to do and pay for everything online, so it's very user-friendly. We have the same guy from JG Mechanical who always comes out. We really like him 'cause he's very timely, gets everything done very professionally, and does great work.

When we initially submitted the request, he called us to set up an appointment and was out here that same day. When it didn't work, he had to come back out. We called back to AHS, they contacted him again and he was in touch with us again the very same day to schedule an appointment. He diagnosed the AC and said it was the compressor and it wouldn’t be for two weeks before he could get back to fix it. He was back in a couple of days, had it done very quickly, and we had cool air blowing through our house. Then whenever he came into the house, he did have a mask on. But since all the work was outside, he didn't need to come in the house.

I had an issue with my AC unit. I got a chance to go on the American Home Shield website and I stated what the issue was. I paid the deductible and they gave me the contact information of the company that would come out and help. But this time of year, the company was a little busy so it took them a couple of days to come out. But once they came, they were fast and efficient. I described the problem to the tech and he pretty much knew exactly what the problem was. He had his mask on and he had booties on his shoes so that he wasn't tracking anything on the carpet. He diagnosed the situation and in about 30 minutes, he had the AC running again. Since then, I haven't had any issues. American Home Shield did a pretty streamlined process. It was a pretty simple one so that's a good thing.

The claim submission process was straightforward but it’s convoluted how to get in touch with AHS when you have an issue. There is no direct customer service, email or anything that they provide. So, I had to go through security then I was redirected to another department. It wasn't a cut and dried process. My claim is still being processed because the repair company charged me for a duct modification that was not required. So, I'm waiting for the refund but American Home Shield did a great job in the way they handled the initial service. They responded quickly. It's just that this prepaid issue has clouded the whole process. For people considering a home warranty, they should make sure that they get everything that they think they need to have coverage included. I did that. One thing I like about American Home Shield is they cover rust and that was what coincidentally happened to my AC. The AC coil had rusted out.
