Ace Heating & Cooling came was one of the best that has ever come out. The outside unit had stopped running and their technician took five minutes to find out what it was and fixed it. He was very courteous. I would always wanna do business with this company. Everything is good now. Most of the things in my house are new. But I keep American Home Shield for peace of mind. When anything happens, I don't have to go out there to look for somebody to come and fix it. They already have their contractors and so far, so good.

My air wasn't cooling. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and something happened with the first contractor they scheduled. Things didn't work out. When I called back in to AHS, they rescheduled someone else shortly after. They sent All South Air Systems and things were great. They were in and out within an hour and finished everything. They replaced my compressor and so far, my AC has been working really well.

Valley Appliances did great. They were very nice and the contractor did extra things to make it work better for my dryer. Turned off the power, the gas and he plugged it up, moved it over to the other side, where it should've been all along. The spin cycle wasn't draining. So now, it's working perfectly. I like the work of the technician that they sent. It took him a couple of weeks to get it all done because he had to keep bringing back new parts to make it work. But he had to order those parts. I like American Home Shield. I've had them for years off and on, but lately, I've been keeping them for the last couple of years.

One of the pipes had a leak in it and we kept thinking it was coming from the roof. We had a brand-new roof put on and it's still leaking in there. Then the whole wall was wet. It all had to be torn out and that was when we found the leak. It ruined the flooring and the 2x4s in the wall were rotted. It had been going on for a long time. I called it in to American Home Shield and they said they would call a plumber then the plumber would call and tell us when he's coming. The plumber called and said he would be there whatever day that was. He came out and looked at the problem. Then he said he would go back and turn in an estimate to American Home Shield. He wasn't there very long. Then we never heard from him.
We called back ourselves because we were desperate. We didn't turn the water off and so the water was running and there's more water coming in. It was where we had to go out into the street and that would turn all the house water off. I asked to please jump on it as soon as they could. The guy said he'd turn in a report. But we never got any message back from American Home Shield, so I called the plumbing people back myself. I said that we never heard from the gentleman that they sent out.
The guy that I talked to said his wife takes care of all that. I asked if they could call me back soon. He said that they just have to turn the report in to American Home Shield and his wife is working on it at the moment. They were nice. They called back pretty soon and said they're gonna send the same gentleman that came out to give the estimate. They gave a timeline between 11:00 in the morning till 7:00 in the afternoon. The gentleman came out and fixed it. We had to put all new sheetrock in then we had a contractor come and do that. We asked if that would be covered with American Home Shield and they said it wouldn't and that we’d have to take that up with our homeowner's insurance.

American Home Shield's contractor, Nutex Mechanical came to my place twice. They replaced the toilet one time and the other time, they came for a garbage disposal issue. I liked the ease of response with AHS. With them, I get a contractor between two to four days.

I had an AC claim and AHS sent out two different air conditioning companies. I showed the tech where the unit is and he said the sprinklers have rained it all up and caused some damage. He said it was something that was unrepairable and he gave me a quote of $8,000 to replace my air conditioning unit. My wife and I are senior citizens and both disabled but that's the quote they gave us in the middle of the heatwave. I'm not happy about that right now. I'm very disappointed and nobody called me and talked to me about it. Also, I called AHS eight times when I had a problem with the air conditioning guy who came. It took me two to three hours to get in contact with a person and calling different numbers. People kept giving me different numbers and I got frustrated.
Then, I had an issue with the electrical fan in my restroom and the tech from DNZ replaced that. And in my kitchen, I have two recessed lights that went out. I thought it was just a short but when the tech came, he told me both were out and I bought two replacement recessed lights from him. The guy was very nice, friendly, and helpful. I've been trying to call him back on my own. I want to replace the fixture in the vanity in my bathroom and I started going through AHS to ask them if it was something they cover but it's tough. I went online and I didn't really know what to put. I didn't know how to word it. Also, I didn't feel like going through a two or three-hour call again. It was not very customer-friendly.

It was difficult getting my AC claim going with Home Shield. Raven Plumbing wasn't responding and I had to call them and they wouldn’t pick up the phone. It was not easy trying to get ahold of them. Home Shield is great to work with but some vendors they use are not the greatest. I use them in Austin too and it’s sort of hit and miss which ones I get.

I had two issues with Home Shield. My initial issue with them was with the air conditioning and it was not a great experience. I didn't like the work with HVAC and then, I couldn’t get anyone on the phone from American Home Shield that I could speak to without them being in another country that wasn't noting my account properly. HVAC put it on paper that I needed one thing and then they called me and told me something different. I told them to contact Home Shield and they didn't. I ended up having to pay out of pocket and I wasn't happy with that. I was really going to cancel the warranty, and then I decided to keep it.
When the hot water heater went out, I called Home Shield and let them know what was going on. They sent someone here to survey it and then, they had C Mayes set up an appointment to replace it. Before that, I had to get other work done before they can come out. Once all the pipes got done, then they sent someone out to do the hot water heater. They explained everything and they did what they were supposed to do.
However, I had some water on my floor. I called them last week, and they couldn't get anyone back out till Tuesday. In the meantime, I had water on my floor that I wasn't sure if it came from them, or the people that pulled the floor. I wasn't happy that they gave me an appointment till Tuesday, not knowing where the water was coming from and if my basement was gonna be completely full of water again. Nevertheless, I got that up and there wasn't any more water, but they’re still coming out tomorrow. Apart from that, the initial work that was done was great, and the initial explaining was great.

I had to get rekeyed so I called Home Shield's number. I talked to their rep and it was easy. They were polite and got it done. She told me I would hear back by the next day. The tech from Arizona Sunrise Lock & Key called me the next day and we scheduled it for the following day. It was really quick. Also, he was awesome and he got all the doors done. He even fixed the door lock to make sure it worked correctly.

We've had a contractor that we've been waiting on to come out, but we haven't even heard from them yet. Our most recent claim with American Home Shield has been very difficult. We've been going through it for like a month now. There had been times where there was a three-hour wait time for me to talk to somebody. The first time I did it, I did the online and it told me that someone would call me. I waited like a week or a week and a half and no one ever called. So I called and that was where I had been waiting for so long to finally talk to somebody. And in the middle of talking to them, the rep had to go talk to her team and while she was talking to her team, the call got disconnected, and they never call back. I had to wait another three hours to talk to somebody.
We had like two claims at the same time. A dryer and a pool vacuum went out at the same time. The dryer has since been fixed and the pool vacuum, we haven't even heard from anybody yet. With fixing the dryer, the contractor was great. We also had our dishwasher fixed two months ago and that was perfectly fine too. That one went as smoothly as could be. Overall, the whole process with American Home Shield has to go through so many different steps that I'm not exactly sure where it's going wrong.

It's been fantastic with American Home Shield and they have been timely at getting back to us. We haven't always been happy with who they've chosen to send, but always happy with Home Shield solving it. We had Vector Appliances out here and they took an appliance apart in my front yard. Then after they've been out there monkeying around with it for a long time, they said they had to get another part because it was not just the bearing. They asked if they could take the unit with them to their shop and I let them take it. Almost a week went by and I called them. I asked what was going on with the part and they said they had to order a part besides the bearing. I asked when it was coming in and they said it was supposed to have arrived. I called them again the following Monday and they said they won't have it ready till the 14th of July.
A lady called me back the next day and said the part came late the night before and that the guys worked on it all night. She said they would come put it back together that day. They did and the guy had me sign for it but I realized that he wrote on there that I refused to wait for the part. I was fuming. That was not how it went down. I called Home Shield and I told them to not send out Vector here again. ABM Appliance then came out and the tech looked at it. They said they could not get parts for it and put in to have a replacement. Then they called me and said that American Home Shield gave an adjustment of 714.52 that they would send to me because the machine cannot be repaired.

It got 85 degrees in my house, but my AC wasn't cooling. I submitted a claim with AHS and the techs that they sent out had to put on a relay cylinder and some Freon in my thing. It's been working fine ever since. They knew what they were doing and they took care of it. But the problem was, it took some time for them to come out because they have been so busy. I stayed in an 85-degree house for three and a half days before they got out there. But the advertisements for AHS said the contractors will be out there right away the same day and I wasn't happy that I had to wait. I'm 84 years old and at 85 degrees, it was hot and I had eight fans going. The same thing happened when I had my dishwasher down. I had to wait for the parts that came in and for other things. But that was not American Home Shield's fault, that was the guy that was fixing it.
My neighbor has American Home Shield as well and when her air condition went out, they told her it was too old and they couldn't do anything. They also didn't give her any money on a new one, so she's not happy with American Home Shield either. Other than that, the techs who came to fix my AC were okay. They figured out what the problem was and thank God they had the part on the truck. Otherwise, I would've had to wait longer.

The AC unit itself wouldn't turn on. I could hear it try but it wouldn't kick on. It turned out to be a pretty simple repair. The guy was here five minutes and replaced the part and off he went. I've been with American Home Shield for 12 years now and I'm happy with the process overall. Sometimes there are contractor issues, but not much overall. It works for what it is. They're pretty generous about their repairs and what happens. It's always been a good value for me year in and year out to have the product.

Water Heater Solutions showed up around the same time that we expected. It was 10 minutes later than the time range, but that was okay. The guy did a good job. I wasn't expecting him to be extra friendly or anything. He's just like a normal guy doing his job. He'd put his bandana face covering on when he was talking to me. I could tell that he wanted to take it off when he was working. So I just kept my distance from him. Overall, I'm really pleased with the results. Our issue has been totally fixed.
Whenever something comes up, I'll use American Home Shield. They had done what I wanted them to do. I purchased the house recently and American Home Shield was part of the seller's insurance. There was a form that was given to me that had some disclosures on the coverage. Then there was a link to the website. I just went on the website and it was pretty easy to submit the claim. I just entered my address it was already pretty much there.

That part needed to be repaired and he did it under their 30-day warranty.

I've had American Home Shield since it was provided when we bought our home in May of 2018, but we had other home warranty companies before as well. This home is about 19 years old and some of the systems have had issues. We've had to do some things with it and American Home Shield has been thorough and responsive. It's clear what they cover and we extended our warranty because of the value we saw beyond the first year that we had it. We plan on keeping the warranty forever too.
We had some issues with the AC units and apparently, it wasn't draining properly. We didn't know if it was a mechanical or some physical issue somewhere or the line. We couldn't diagnose where it was and describe the issue. The technician then came out and brought the right tools in. Immediately, in terms of what needed to be done, he was super efficient. He solved the problem within minutes, and then he gave me some tips on what to do and how to address it myself as well as a couple things to buy that I didn't have. He gave me some good practices I can perform on a three to six month basis as maintenance and it will do to keep that issue from happening again and having to file a claim.
Now, the AC has been working great. It's been draining properly and no longer draining on the back of the house. We learned something from one of our roofers that when it leaks above the drain of the window, that there's something wrong in the system. We also learned from A-US how we can treat the pan with some rubber protective spray to keep it from rusting. We got some good tips when they came out and everything seems to be working well. All in all, I'm very happy with American Home Shield and the contractors that they have selected and vetted out.

American Home Shield has been really good, so far. They have the email that has the news on it and different things. You can select one of the things on there and make a claim or request a service. I did that and then I was told that the contractor would come on a certain day in the morning. The contractor from Jets Electrical called ahead of time to let us know that they were coming. He had an assistant with him and they showed up on time. They went about their business in a very businesslike manner. They were quick and efficient. They completed the job and left.
There were switches in the hallway that were not wired correctly. The garbage disposal switch was also not connected right and there was a GFI plug that was bad and needed to be replaced. There was also a light bulb that was out. Jets Electrical fixed all that. Everything was fine except the one switch that was bad with the garbage disposal. The tech thought it was a loose wire and it worked right when they left. But a few days later, ut went out again. So I ended up replacing that switch myself later ‘cause it didn't work right still.

A year ago, County Plumbing from Lodi came out to replace a hot water heater which I don't know if it had to be replaced. For the next year, they failed four different inspections. The inspectors, because they felt sorry for us, only charged them one fee. They're supposed to charge County Plumbing each time they have to re-inspect and County Plumbing refused to pay it. Plus, County Plumbing charged us $1,500 for parts. When the inspector came out, he said they didn't spend more than 100 on any of those parts that they put in there. That was the kind of person AHS gave me.
Each time AHS called to have County Plumbing re-come out, they would make me wait months before they would appear. I even called the contractors board and the guy was supposed to take care of it and get back to me, but never heard back from them. Now I'm going to try to follow up on it 'cause we have to get it inspected and cleared so we don't have to lien on our property. It appears we're going to have to pull another permit ourselves and pay that then probably pay County Plumbing's fee. It was a sad tale of woe. Everybody was always very nice when I called but nothing ever got done about it and they kept saying it was not their fault and that they had nothing to do with the inspections. Well, they do 'cause they sent that someone out here who didn't know his butt from a hole in the ground to do my work. We've been members for many years and that's the first bad experience we've had.
The last couple times we've had people out, they've been very professional. The most recent one was ice maker wasn't working in the refrigerator. We had a contractor come and he did a good job. We were pleased with the nice young man and I asked him if we could request him again. He even wrote his name down 'cause he was very knowledgeable.
During the pandemic, calling AHS has been pretty bad because everybody's home and the kids are breaking things and people are bored. So, they're calling to get things that they probably put off getting them fixed. The waits were always like an hour online whenever we called for any reason. But I understand. I know the world's a crazy place right now for all of us.

The AC would stop working. That went on for a while and we would get very hot and get sick. My granddaughter is sick. She got a heart problem. Also, I’m 78, so air condition is a necessity. Home Shield sent different technicians to troubleshoot. They replaced some electrical and gave us a different sensing unit but that didn't take care of problem. Eventually, we told the tech, “It’s the motor.” But they had to catch it. The contractor came out twice but they saw nothing wrong and they put Freon. And then it again happened. Mr. Freeze came out. They also saw nothing wrong. It took about seven or eight people to come out altogether, and my daughter and I we’ve been telling them we believe it’s the motor because when I put my hand on the motor, it blows, I felt jerk and then it runs for a while and then it stops.
The outside unit, where the compressor is, runs but inside the house, everything is dead. That could be another problem. Eventually, the truck came out. They replaced the motor, a bracket and the relay. A relay was the problem electrically. But the motor also was not balanced. Finally, after two months, they took care of the problem.
I do thank Home Shield. I know I was a pain in the butt calling them all the time. But I was scared for my granddaughter is sick. Her little ticker has a little problem and that scared the hell out of me. Now, the AC runs fine. It’s nice and cool and no more problem and one technician would probably need to replace a circuit breaker. They left the circuit breaker because it ran just fine after they replaced the relay, motor, and the brackets because that was original problem. But I'm grateful to Home Shield that they stood by us and took care of the problem.
Home Shield is good to us. I’ve been with them for 18 years now. I don't like to change and I'm happy we didn't have a lot of problems. That was the first time that we had a really serious problem because it was hot. But they did good. I wish everybody has a system where we can get hold of them quicker. And then they have to find somebody. Apparently, they get people who are down in Los Angeles or somewhere, so there was a lot of delay. But It’s okay. I’m just happy that the problem is taken care of now.

It takes a couple of days before you find out who is gonna come when you call American Home Shield. Fortunately, for our induction cooktop claim with Attwoods, I was notified that day. The technician was very professional. He had a mask on and wore booties. He also had a bottle of hand sanitizer. He asked if we had a garage where he could come through. He let me open the door. When he came in, he sprayed the handles. He didn't touch. He came in with his gloves on and went to work. He was very professional. The technician couldn’t repair it at the time. He had to order a special part for it and it was a thermal fuse. It took about a week to get the part. But it was fine waiting a few weeks. We just had a barbecue every night.
It's easy to submit a claim with American Home Shield. I call and speak to a representative but I just have to wait sometimes. When we had our heater/air conditioner problem, they gave Air Control Home Services the contract to do it. They came out and said that a part had to be replaced. Then when they started to replace it, they found other things had gone wrong and it took about two and a half weeks to get the heater/air conditioner going. But we had two units, so we just stayed in the back of the house to be warm. But it got pretty cold in February last year.

He said that they would call me back in a day or so. I agreed with what they said.
However, the technician never called me back. Secondly, when I called the young lady at the office, she was talking too fast. By the time we got off the phone, she had gone from $150 to $549 for them to come back to my house. I hung up the phone on her. I don't ever want them to come. They didn't even leave a business card or any type of quotes on writing. Then the gentleman from Prime Plumbing Services came out and he replaced something. He had the part on his truck. My washer was broken. There's something wrong with that model machine because this is the second one of the same model that I've had. It's a terrible product. Valleywide Appliance said it was not fixable. I got an email saying that I could pick one of their products, but I really wanted to go and pick my own product from Home Depot or something.
My service was pretty good. At first, I was a little annoyed because I wanted my machine fixed and the technician couldn't get it fixed. He spent a lot of time on it and I thought he knew what he was doing. But then, he fixed my other appliances really well. He told me why my dishwasher wasn't functioning right and it was my fault. But that washer has been frustrating for me because it's no one's fault. It was just taking a little while to get resolved. But I was very happy with him and I was very satisfied with the experience.

I speak with a representative when I make claims to American Home Shield and it’s very easy to get ahold of them. I have AHS at my home that's currently a rental in North Carolina and I have not received feedback from the residents there that there were any issues with them. So, everything is fine. They've been very prompt, professional and has been very reliable in whatever issues I’ve had.

I had two experiences with Home Shield. The first one was good. It was fine and well. It was a quick response. However, I'm not too happy about the second one. I spoke to JR Plumbing last week. A week after they came, the toilet seat cracked. I was just informed that there was a crack and leakage again. I thought they resolved it the first time. So, even though Home Shield said the work is done, they gave me another expense of trying to fix the toilet seat. I've been trying to get in touch with them to let them know the issue that the toilet seat is cracked due to the person they sent, but they have not responded back to me. I told them they go out and fix something and they ended up causing more damage. They haven't resolved the issue.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 9 years. My parents have had them for maybe 20 something years. My little sister had to join the class action suit against American Home Shield about seven years ago for them coming out and refusing anything you touched. They won and she quit AHS. As a single person, it is a saver for me even though sometimes, you have a hit or miss, especially AC. I’ve had some bad AC people. AHS even sent out somebody and I said no. I looked it up on the Better Business Bureau. But the ones from Beaches Air Conditioning were a hit. They were pleasant and efficient, and wore masks.
The technician didn’t have to do very much work. He spent some time outside but at least he didn’t try to sell me more Freon. In that sense, they were straightforward. He kinda finished up and I was so excited. I did call back to the company. They didn't leave me an invoice nor tell me what was wrong. When I called to follow up, I was told that the manager would send me an invoice. They would contact the person who came out. I said that if it’s something I could learn, I don't need to call them back. But I never heard back either way and I didn't follow up. I wish they would’ve followed up in a timelier manner with my call for an invoice and explained so I’ll know in the future.
I had to have one air conditioning company out nine times in a row in 2016. I wasn't smart enough then to realize that after about five tries, I could call American Home Shield and insist that they send a different company. This time, I caught on very quickly and I read the reviews, called them within an hour of placing the service and they told me who it was. And I remembered the name. I looked them up and they had awful all over the board. So, I called up American Home Shield and they said that they would change for me. They saw I had problems in 2016. The new people that they sent out were very competent.
I would recommend AHS. My son and his wife just bought a new house down here in Jacksonville, and I'm trying to get them to pick it up. They haven't realized yet how much it would help them. It’s hard to sell to them because they're both working professionals and the only problem is you do have to stay home and hope that they come out on time. But that's a whole another issue. We have that problem with all repair people.

American Home Shield's website was pretty straightforward. I did the claim through it. It's not amazing, but it's definitely not the worst website I've ever dealt with. Air Majesty was looking at my air conditioning unit. It has taken a while to cool, but they checked everything and said that it's working to the best of its ability. They sent out a very nice guy. He seemed professional, arrived on time, and he checked what he had to check and said that the thing's working well and it's just really hot outside. I'd tell others, "Hey, call this guy. He seems to be quick and be able to respond well." I will continue to be an American Home Shield customer. At the end of the day, you want to feel protected if anything goes wrong, and that's the comfort I get at the moment.

We've had AHS for 10 years between three different homes. There are so many different little loopholes. Submitting claims is not too difficult but there's always something that's not covered. And if it is covered, there's a huge ticket that comes with it. Also, things that were time-sensitive would take several days to get a service company out. But it depends. In the past, we were able to get a technician quickly. It's a pretty good price we pay monthly and we pay every time a service company comes out. I wish that there weren't so many things that are not included in repairs. Also, I would like for them to find some suppliers or vendors locally where if it's a time sensitive issue, they could go pick up a part and come back.
Otherwise, it's okay. It's better than the other warranty company we had, who was terrible. Our most recent service call was our best experience yet. We had an AC issue and AHS was able to get somebody out there the next morning, which was amazing. I usually hate Greenway but they had a wonderful technician come out. This last experience with both AHS and Greenway was wonderful.

I had an issue with my dryer. The claim experience was good. I was satisfied with the work. The technician came out and assessed the situation pretty quickly. Then they had to order the replacement part, so that took a little bit. But then, they called me once the part came in. I was actually on an out-of-town vacation, but soon as I got back, I called them. They scheduled for the technician to come out. He came out and put it in in about 15 minutes and then he was done. It's been working great since then.
I had one issue with another claim that I was making, where the online or the phone automated system, it did not let me combine. I had two plumbing issues and when I was using their automated system to put in the claim on the phone, it did not allow me to list the two issues at the same time. It only let me do one. Then I went through the process trying to add it on and it treated it as a second claim. But both were plumbing issues which could have been handled by a single plumber coming out. I called and I spoke directly to a representative on the phone and they corrected that, and they were able to fix it. But the process would have been a little simpler and I wouldn't have had to wait for the representative to make that initial claim if their automated system had given an option for that.
The warranty is great. Because things, over time, just need repair and the cost is significantly better if you have the home warranty. I would highly recommend it to any homeowner who wants to save on repair costs for their home. American Home Shield has been really good with the issues that I've had. They're quick to respond to the concern that I have and quick to contact different contractors to come out and deal with issues. Then, they've been good with following up to make sure, even just via email responses, that I can verify that everything's done correctly and in a timely manner.

I called in a claim to American Home Shield for our dryer which was not working. I reached out to the contractor yesterday and they were to call me back and let me know if they were coming today but I never heard back. I called again today and I’m currently waiting to hear back. The problem wasn’t the contractor but trying to communicate with AHS. So, it was their customer service. I've been calling and the only person that kept their word and followed back was Hannah. She was the one who set up for the dryer. She called me back and she was nice and professional. She had very good customer service. She was very polite and she showed that she was very concerned. You're helpless if you're dependent on something you've been paying on. Not everyone always keeps their word and be precise about it but she did. She made it a whole lot better. She was wonderful.
I also had an issue on the icemaker. The refrigerator is 2005 and since last year, we've been getting this icemaker fixed over and over. Sears was the first company that they sent out here. Then it was Miss Appliance. I told them not to send them here anymore because they're not fixing it. When the two companies came, the icemaker didn't work past the time that they left. We had to call it back in. Then the next time, it didn't work again. Then they come back and fixed it and replaced it. I asked American Home Shield why they want to keep buying the pieces to that and paying them. We're paying $75 and that’s wasted money.
The last company was here two weeks ago and so far, the ice maker has been working. But now, the refrigerator wouldn't stay closed. He changed the rubber lining around it but that's causing the electrical bill to go up. Every time you turn around, the refrigerator’s popping open and you don't know it’s open. Then you go over there and the refrigerator is open. It can start affecting your food. The refrigerator’s old. It's time to do away with it if it's giving us all these different problems one after another. This is the fifth time the ice maker is getting fixed so if they are not gonna do anything about it and if they're going to keep making excuses not to replace it, then they shouldn’t tell people to invest in their company for an extended warranty. People keep coming in and out the house to do the same thing over and over.
We still have our dishwasher that’s still not working. They sent out one company and then that company said a plumber needed to come out. The plumber came out and said there was nothing he could do. He was referring it back to the original company that AHS had sent it to. They were supposed to have someone come back out to fix it. Their contractors came in and it's still not working. I called American Home Shield because over a week has gone by and I haven't heard from anyone. They told me that they haven't gotten their reports back from the vendor and to give them 24 to 48 hours. It has been two and a half weeks now.
The contractor also came out to fix the washing machine and we haven't had any problems with it. But it’s like everything's happening back-to-back. Before all of this, we didn't have any problems with American Home Shield although the customer service was not good. They never call back when they say they’re gonna call back. I'm still waiting for that phone call. We’ve been paying American Home Shield and I'm very disappointed because when I call in to them, they treat me as if I'm a third party. It’s not like we are in business with one another and they're contracting out for us. They're treating me as if my concerns are not a concern.

Beyer Appliance came out because the dishwasher wasn't filling with water. It just calmed no matter what setting you put it on all the way around. He found like a float. He ordered that and then the one that swishes the water around was broken. So he replaced those and it worked great. Then I used it once, went out of town, came back and by the time I have enough dishes to run another cycle, the same thing, it didn't work. But when he came out, he was like, "It's working just fine. It has to drain.” But that had never happened before.
I bought this thing brand spanking new. But it is 16 years old. But I never had to wait like that. I haven't run a load yet. But it worked when he left. He showed me, the water was coming in and it was like, "Yeah, that happened last time, too." The technician was fabulous, very professional, explained everything and wore his mask. I just hope I don't have to call them again. Since I live alone, I have to wait to fill up the load. Hopefully, it's fixed. One time, I had to have my garbage disposal replaced. The same company came out and they were very professional.

We had American Home Shield before and I was not happy. We had to cancel the warranty. Later on, we got an email from Select Home Warranty. They were trying to sell their service to us. The problem was they were in all other states but not in Nevada. They recommended going through with American Home Shield again. We wanted to make sure that all of our appliances and all the stuff that we have in the house are protected, so we signed up again. But we were not happy with them because we had a really bad experience. We had a couple of issues. We had a plumbing problem and they didn't bother to fix it. They thought it was preexisting. We also had an air conditioning issue. My wife started canceling because American Home Shield was not really helping us. They were just finding a way to tell us that the issue was a preexisting one.
But we put the home warranty back again. Our first experience has been okay and we are happy with that right now. We had a washer that started making noise. We had to close it and it stopped working. We filed a claim with American Home Shield and they sent a local contractor, Vector Appliances. They were very good and professional. The gentleman looked at the situation, found the problem, and fixed it. He put the new piece of whatever was underneath the washer. He left the old one there as well. It took him a few minutes to take care of the problem. We haven't had a problem since.

The air conditioner service was great. I put in the order that night at eight o'clock on the phone just like all the automated stuff, and by 10 o'clock the next morning they were out, the AC was fixed and we had air. It was seamless and the technician had his mask on. He didn’t put any booties or anything on but he was very professional in taking precautions and I was very pleased.
American Home Shield was great with the air conditioner but not so great with some of my other things. We are also currently having issues with our washing machine and I'm going on week five without one. It started with me calling and the person told me that Sears would call me. I asked him if he was sure and told him that Sears closed in Lincoln two years ago. He said it was fine and gave me the number for Sears, I called that number and they told me that they could come out and do it, but it's not gonna go through my insurance. I asked what they meant and they said that my insurance company has to call and set up the appointment. I said that AHS told me that Sears would call me and they haven't so I'm calling them.
I called back to American Home Shield and got somebody else. The rep said that the call hadn't even been processed. So, she set up a new call and I got a new dispatch number. A new person was gonna be coming out. The next company took a little over a week before they were able to even come out. So that's going on three weeks without a washer at that time. When they came, they looked at it and were there for 10 minutes. They were professional and told us what was wrong with it. Then, they contacted American Home Shield and told them.
I was up to nine hours on hold with AHS trying to get all this resolved. I was up to 18 calls. I even went back through my call log. I would call in, get an agent and they would say that the person that came out for the company, Acreage, didn't fill out the report. The rep from AHS would call them while I was on hold. They talked to them and found out what was wrong. It was gonna cost more than what it was worth to fix it. I said that they told me this already. I waited another week and nobody called me back. I called back in and had to explain the whole thing again. At that time, there was nothing on file that they had called Acreage and got this report, which it had already been reported twice at this time. So they called Acreage and left a message. Acreage eventually apparently called them back and this person guaranteed that he was gonna call me back. I still haven't heard back from them and that was three weeks ago.
Eventually, I called again for another agent and it was the same story. They have already called them three times and this wasn’t on my file. I had the option to be put on hold for 20 minutes and I would be the next person in line. I put it so that it would call me back. Eight hours later, I still hadn't gotten a call back. So, I called in the next day. This was frustrating but while all this was going through, I had the service for my air conditioner done and dealt with within 14 hours. So, I've had the worst experience and the best experience with AHS.

One time, AHS sent me a plumber and I kept the business card and wrote on it, "Never use again." The guy wanted to cut a hole in my tub to replace a valve, so I got a second opinion. I called to have my air conditioning checked and the people they gave me called when I was in the other restroom so I didn't pick up the phone. I called right back and I kept leaving messages for about a week and nobody called me back again. I called AHS and told them to cancel it. I was concerned because it's an older system and I wanted to make sure it was fine. They said they would set me up with another contractor. Then I got an email from them that said I'm set up with this other contractor. Then, the first contractor called and tried to reset it. I told the rep what happened and told them to call AHS. And then the second contractor tried to get an okay from them and it was refused. There's some mix up here but I hope I get my money back. AHS said they're backed up. Last time I called, which was a week ago, it would be between the 11th and the 15th.

I always have to reach out to them. Every time I submit an order, I wait for some time to hear back. And if I don't, then I call the contractor. American Home Shield's claim process is very simple. The only problem we have is when we file a claim and there is a follow-up. It's so hard getting in contact with them to file the claim in. There needs to be another department that follows up with the customer. And they should make sure everything is completed within their allotted time frame. There should at least a be follow-up from American Home Shield and not me trying to call them. The hold time would be two hours. A technician comes out to the house whatever the case may be. But if there is a follow-up, it's very difficult. We filed a claim with a microwave and it is yet to be installed.
That aside, I would still recommend American Home Shield. They fixed several items within my home and I'm satisfied with it. For a clogged drain, we filed the claim and the issue was resolved within the week. The technician from Plumbing Enterprises was great and very professional. He answered our questions and handled the situation. He was in and out within a half an hour.

Called air condition tech on Friday 2 pm. Name of company is World Class AC Inc. He does not work on weekends so he calls back at 7 pm on Sunday and states that he cannot come to fix the ac before Wednesday. That is almost 6 days later. Here in Florida the temp outside is 95 degrees and inside the house it is over 100 degrees.
Called American Home Shield and representative states that American Home Shield does not allow him to expedite visits to fix air conditioning unless the outside temp is over 105 degrees which means the in house temp could be over 115 degrees. Who made such an inconsiderate moronic rule? Did you ever hear of heat stroke in Florida? I guess the idea is for American Home Shield to avoid paying for air conditioning services since the customer would need to call outside technicians and pay out of his own pocket because they are unable to tolerate the heat inside the house.

We have been with AHS for about 5 years now even after moving to a new home. I made a service request for our AC unit not working back in June...It took another service request on 7/3/2020 which they never assigned a contractor to come out for. I then called multiple times with being on hold for 1-2.5 hours and still not able to get through to anyone. I finally made another online service request on 8/11/2020. The contractor came out 4 days later and was told it would take 7-10 more business days for AHS to order the Compressor. So 2 weeks later when the compressor finally arrived and was installed, I came home from work that following day to a house at 89 degrees.
They came out the next day, replaced 2 different pipes/hoses and seemed to cool off some. I got home from work that FOLLOWING day after them coming out 2x to service the unit and the house was at 87 degrees once again after it was set on 68 degrees. They had to come out for the 3rd day in a row to "fix" our AC which was just adjusting the gauge apparently. However if it weren't for me calling both AHS and the AC company 2-3x a day since the first work order and demanding to come out to fix the problem... I would still probably be sitting here in a 90 degree house 2.5 months later.
My other biggest complaint is that I have been asking everyday for the past week that I have had to called them to talk to a supervisor aka their "escalation department" in which I was either told they do not have a supervisor around OR that they will document and have a supervisor call me back within the hour and the other times promised to be called back within the 24 hours. I have yet to get that call.

Getting through to American Home Shield to try to add another appliance once the guy was out here was a really long wait time and they ultimately told me that it wasn't covered.
For the third one, we submitted it fine but the company called back and said it wasn't covered. I assumed they were gonna credit me back my $75 because we had to pay them kind of outside of pocket. I put through the claim and they charged my card. The company said, “We can't help you so they'll have to refund it.” There's this unknown piece around the potential refund of what I already paid ‘cause I never heard anything from them. I'm just gonna wait, look at my credit card statement, and see what happens. I don’t like to call American Home Shield ‘cause it takes so much time. But we had really good technicians. My water had been running since about 9 or 10 o'clock Sunday night. Once he got there, he saw the problem and addressed it. He told me that he would have to get a part and his manager would have to approve because the part on my faucet was warrantied through Moen. Any product that they have, he said it was warrantied. He went, got the part, came to the house and fixed the problem.
I had other issues that I stated in the claim when I initially made the claim but he didn't address those issues. He had to come back out. I had a toilet handle and he fixed those. He put the handle on my toilet but now I'm having problems. My water is running in my toilet. In my tub, the little metal piece that goes down into the tub where the water goes down is corroded. He was supposed to fix that but he said he did not see the work order for that so he didn't do the job. I said the person I spoke with said they put it in the report for him to fix it. That was a part of the claim. He said he didn't see it. It was kinda crazy 'cause it could've been done better. The main thing is getting the right representatives online to be able to understand the customer needs. I don't know if the rep understood what I said or she was putting down what she wanted to put down on the paperwork but I explained to her what was what needed to be done and where I needed done.
I've been with American Home Shield for almost a year and I've never had any issues. I would probably recommend their service. There are a lot of people that don't know about it and I share the information. But American Home Shield could get the right contractor - people that are local. That guy was local but the other people don't respond. Their office is open from 8:00 to 5:00. What if someone has an emergency like an AC problem or water's not working. What are they supposed to do? They need to do better with their contractors. Get better people that's on the job. Get a different company that has a 24-hour emergency response. They have companies like plumbers and electricians that are 24 hours who can somebody out in an emergency but they didn't come out and that was an emergency 'cause my water was running all night. We had to shut the water off on the whole house to get the water to stop running.

I've always had a great rapport with AHS. I’ve been with them a long time and it was very easy to submit a service request. When the motor on my microwave was burned out, it took 3 Boys Appliance Repair a while to replace it but I didn't get excited or upset about it. They had to order something, so you gotta have that in mind too. It took three weeks but when they came out, it took five minutes for them to fix it. They popped it in, and popped it out and I was very pleased with the work.

American Home Shield has been good. My problem was getting them to answer the phone. Sometimes, I’m on the phone waiting for 45 minutes. I lay it down and keep it on speaker. I had a recent claim on a plumbing issue. The first rep that I spoke with lied to me. He took my name and number down and said he was gonna call me back, but he didn’t. So, the next day, I called back and I got somebody and that person helped me out. K & S Plumbing Services came out, and the service was good.

Submitting a claim with AHS was really easy. I've always done it online when I've had to do it with them. I've never had success with phone calls. AHS makes my life so much easier knowing I can just call someone when I have an issue. We haven't really had any issues with AHS. It's been smooth-sailing. My recent claim with them was for the dryer. It ended up it was just some loose connection.

The first time, I called AHS for my AC unit. It came on and then it shut back off. The contractors said it was a fuse or something. It was easy to get through, but it was the point that I had to keep waiting for the contractors to come back. Then they came out a total of three times. They fixed it temporarily. They just patched it up and then they left. But it wasn't until the last time the guy really explained. He was like, “They were just lazy and they didn't fix it and knew it was the motor the whole time.” Each time it was a different person. Then the second time also, I paid for a maintenance of getting the filter cleaned but that wasn't even a problem. So, I paid for that for nothing out of my pocket.
They were negligent because they could have fixed it, did it the first time, instead of me having to call, wait, come back, wait and then send another technician out. Then they were like, "We have a lot of other customers." I understand that. It's hot. We don't wanna be in a hot house either. But I think that for American Shield, they can get more than one contractor for AC. American Home Shield needs to have more contractors in each department besides just one. You got people outside American Home Shield, then you have their regular customers. It should be, "Okay, we have these three contractors. Which one would you like, ma'am or sir?" So, we don’t have to do it over with them again. We don't have to do business with them again.

I am happy that I have American Home Shield because it has saved me a lot of money. Recently, National Lock & Key came out and changed the two locks on my front door and a lock on my garage door. The guy put the lock on and the lock still wouldn't lock. He said the lock was messed up altogether. He couldn't just take that little lock thing out and put their lock thing in because he said it still wouldn't lock for whatever reason. At first he went and bought a lock but it was not what I had. I needed to have the same kinda lock. I told him to let me go get my own lock so I went up the street, got the lock from Home Depot, brought it back, and he put it on. It took longer than what it should have taken because he went to the store then I went to the store. But the locks are fine and the guy was fine. He did the job but he couldn't make the lock fit if the lock didn't fit. I'm glad he told me that, though, instead of leaving the piece in there then me having a problem and not being able to lock my bottom lock.

I purchased this house and before moving in, I had the AC checked out and all the appliances. So, I had the paperwork confirming that the AC was working fine. I also requested the American Home Shield cover to be provided, which was how I got it. The AC worked for a single day. So, we were three months without it in the hot summer. I submitted a claim to AHS and the contractor said that the compressor was the issue. But it was not. It was the coil and so, I spent $1,200 for nothing to change the compressor.
The contractor came and looked, and said that they performed the work. But they didn’t show up at my place. So, I wouldn't blame AHS for that. It was the heating and cooling company they contracted with. I wish American Home Shield would not work with them. I understand how American Home Shield insurance works. So, I'm happy with it but they have an agreement with a lot of contractors and it seems like some of the contractors don't want to do the work. They just take it so that they will get the maximum out of AHS but they do not really solve the customer issue.

I had an outside leak that was fixed for a water hazard. I also had another inside leak in my second bathroom and there was water coming into the restroom. The guy from DrainGo told me that I would have to make sure that my faucet was covered because I didn't put in the claim that the faucet had a leak. I didn't know that it was leaking from the faucet so when I filed the claim online, I only put in that I had two leaks. But since it was coming from the faucet and not just a pipe, I had to submit another claim so I had to be charged another $100 even though the guy never left. At that point, I really didn't worry about it. I just wanted to get it done and over with. I'm satisfied with Home Shield, but I'm not happy because my AC unit is still out.
An air conditioning company came out and looked at both my outside and inside units. The technician told me that the outside unit was leaking Freon. He knew what he was talking about. This is the second time I had them out there dealing with the AC. When calling AHS, it was taking forever to get a real person on the phone. So I just submitted another claim online. It's much easier than trying to call in and do it.
It seemed that the last guy who came out for the AC knew that the unit was messed up and didn't wanna fool with it. It didn't take him 30 minutes to find out that the outside unit was no more good. He told me that they were gonna have to submit a claim to American Home Shield and see if they would approve it. I should hear from American Home Shield in a few days and then we would go from there. The company is gonna be the one who's providing everything. I like them. But now, I have about three window units in my house to keep it cool and it's currently impossible. The company couldn't do anything until they hear back from AHS.

I was told I’d be contacted within 24 hours, and the contractors were out here within 24 hours. It was some broken part in there that they replaced. The guy was really nice. He immediately knew what the problem was and had the part on the truck. So it was fixed within an hour and he was on his way. It was great. However, I'm not completely sold on American Home Shield. I don't think we're gonna be renewing. Based off of the first claim, we're at 50-50 right now. We got the run around with our first claim. It was with a pool heater. It's still broken. It was just not a good experience at all, having to have two companies come out and have the claim rejected and our heater still doesn't work.

They called me while I was in Florida on business, took care of the issue, and called me back and told me what exactly they had to do. It was fixed and I got home and it was working perfectly.
I have another claim with Home Shield which I'm exceptionally dissatisfied with. It's our refrigerator freezer. I am surprised that Home Shield is handling this one the way they're doing. They agreed they can't fix it and they would replace it. They can't even get the parts for eight weeks. We've already paid our $100 service request on the 15th. They're telling us that they can give us $300 towards another purchase because that was the cost of the part or we could wait six more weeks until the parts came in. I just simply asked them why I can't get a hold of an executive. In my business, customer service means everything.
Home Shield is dropping on this one. We have five small children and they're telling us to wait. In fact, Home Shield called us and said, "Your parts will be here on the 24th and your contractor in Arlington should be able to come out and put them in." 24th came, we never heard anything, so I called them the 25th and finally got through and they said they'd check on it. They called me this morning saying that they were unable to get the parts until six weeks.
They came back and said we can complain. They said, "Your parts are gonna be $300 so we can offer you that as a buyout and you can go get another fridge." I said, "In America, where would you buy a refrigerator freezer replacement like what we have for $300? You actually are not giving me $300. I paid you $100 on the 15th for a service request, and I paid you $68 this month for my membership. So how are you giving me $300?" I'm waiting for them to change their mind. That's not service. I'm extremely disappointed.

A guy from Reynolds Heating & Cooling came out, inspected our unit and said something was wrong with the compressor. We didn't get any documentation and he did not even put the top back on. He left it hanging and just left. He ordered something and we tried to contact him at a later time, but we never could get an answer. For one thing, the heat index had risen. We called American Home Shield every day after the guy left once we didn't hear anything. We were in constant conversation with American Home Shield for weeks and we were on hold for two to three hours every single day.
Eventually, they said, "Well, ma'am, what we have to do, we have to call the repair company or either email them. And we need 24 to 48 hours. And we'll call you back." We never ever got a call back, so we called again and the representative kept saying, "Well, ma'am, we need to reach out." We asked them to please not give us that line again. We did not wanna hear they need to reach out to the repair people who came out because their previous representative informed us of that. We were frustrated at this time. We then suggested to them, "Can you all please send out someone else? Because you are not reaching whomever initially came out.” They said it had to go through another department for them to okay for someone else to come out.
After a week and a half or two, a different company finally came out again. The repairman said that there was a power surge that caused the unit to go out. He also said the unit had to be replaced and at a cost of $4,800. According to the American Home Shield's advertisements, "If we can't repair your unit, we will replace." We were under the impression that would happen and we had to find that out the hard way that they don't replace every unit. This situation was a nightmare. We waited for about two months and then they refused to replace the unit or do anything about the service to the unit. It was unbelievable.
American Home Shield is saying that in their contract, they don't handle power surges, so they denied the claim. Really people? It took them all this length of time. We had the unit replaced but not through that company. It's already been taken care of, but we had to pay out of pocket for a new unit after American Home Shield said that they would not cover. Out of eight years of being with them, we've called them once or twice. We've decided that we're gonna look for another warranty provider because we were so dissatisfied.

I had a problem about three weeks earlier, and it was a weekend and I couldn't get in touch with American Home Shield. So I got a guy here who charged me 450. All he did was he changed a fuse and he put two and a half pounds of Freon. So then, we had another problem. The gentleman from Air Pro came and he said the problem was a fan. He replaced it. It's been working well ever since. About a week later, I had problems setting the thermostat and all I did was text him and he responded right away. Within about three minutes, he cleared that up and I've not had another problem.
Everything's gone well with American Home Shield. I'm pleasantly surprised because insurance has always been like a hole to me in the ground. It's just there to suck your money up. The filter and the coils were dirty. The time before that, they topped up the refrigerant. It just can't keep up. It's got a leak, it's very old and it's rusty. So we can't live with this. We need to get a new one and if AHS won't do it, we have to do it ourselves. In which case, then we don't need AHS.
We have another house in Savannah and we got that covered because that has a lot more systems and they’re a lot newer. We had an AC go down in that house and AHS decided they couldn't repair it. So, they replaced it and we were very pleased about that. We have all new appliances in this house and they're all the same brand. My understanding is that if one of them needs to be replaced, we don't get any say in what brand goes in and it might be a completely different brand and not match the other appliances. So that would be unacceptable. If it's something like an air conditioner, you don't care but if it's your oven, you do care.
I would be very satisfied if what was broken got resolved and it didn't cost a lot of extra money. In this case with the air conditioning unit, we were not satisfied because it was the wrong thing to do. As a program, they're costing more money themselves and us in the long run by not replacing it when so clearly, every engineer who came here told us that. He said that American Home Shield won't do it. They'll keep it running forever.

This was a seamless claim with American Home Shield which is a first for me.

Direct Appliance Service did wonderful. They came to work on my refrigerator that died. I called the phone number on the brochure on the front of it that I keep every year that American Home Shield sends out that says what’s covered. I spoke to an actual representative, but it took like an hour and a half of holding one night. I think everything takes longer these days with COVID. They told me the contractor would probably call on the weekend. But they were closed on the weekend, so they didn’t call till Monday. The guy that came out was Anthony, and he was wonderful. Everything has been functioning very well. The repair helped tremendously. I have a refrigerator out in the garage and it's a pain in the butt having to go all the way out to the garage to bring something in.

I had American Home Shield for years and years, but when I bought this house, the Realtor gave me a different home insurance company that was twice the price of AHS and they weren’t nice. They were horrible and I couldn't wait to go back to AHS. They’re very nice at AHS and very accommodating. I had a claim for my garbage disposal and it went well. The tech from Neighborhood Plumber & Rooter was here a day early, which was great, and he was wearing a mask. I’ve dealt with this company through AHS before and I liked them. He fixed the garbage disposal. But I had just replaced my sink to a large farmhouse sink and he told me my garbage disposal didn't have the horsepower that a farmhouse sink requires. I wound up having my handyman, who also happens to be a plumber, replace my garbage disposal recently to an upgraded one.

The air conditioner was making a horrible rattling sound that you could hear throughout the whole house. I did the claim process on a computer and American Home Shield's website was okay. They said that they'd let us know when the service was scheduled and they'd be contacting us. We told them about the issue on Saturday and the tech was here on Monday.
The guy looked at the AC and said he saw nothing wrong. He tightened a screw, said that was what was wrong with it, and left. But later that night, the same issue was happening. The guy said that all I had to do was call them and they'd come back out if it happened within such amount of time, and I called them right back that same night. A different person from the same company came out the next day and found that the hub had gone out, so he had to replace it. Everything's been pretty good since then. All in all, AHS has been helpful when I need them. But for the last couple of months, when you call them, you have to wait on hold for three hours.

I called American Home Shield for an issue I was having with my stove's oven. The reps gave me a time window when to expect their contractors. They sent All Valley Appliance Heating and AC and the techs from there were fast and efficient. However, there was an issue with my stove and someone else came to fix that. Still, that wasn't because of anything that All Valley did or did not do. Now, my stove is working fine. Being with AHS has been pretty good for me and I'm glad I purchased their insurance.

It would be a while before the technician from Hometown Garage Doors could come out, but he was in the area, so when I called, I was able to get there in time. He came out, diagnosed the problem and said, "This is what we need to do." We both wore our masks and he fixed the issue, and then he was on his way. He was very professional and I thought, "Wow." It was a pleasant experience, but I've had some very bad experiences with the contractors that have been sent out as well. In fact, last time I used my own plumber for my water heater. I'm in the Harley Davidson business, and I started checking out the guy American Home Shield sent. We found out that the guy would just go out of business and go back in business under a different name, and he was part of a motorcycle gang club.
He was a very bad guy. I explained to the lady (they're always wonderful) that they were putting me at risk having him even coming in my house. I had to keep going back until finally, I went through the option where I could get my own service provider and they would approve a certain amount. It was a water heater replacement and the folks that I got to have it done are fabulous. The actual work that was done cost $1,300 and I know they gave me a fair price, but American Home Shield only paid 312. They said it was for the water heater, but that means there was no labor. The whole thing didn't make sense to me. The plumber was surprised too at the cost that was reimbursed.
American Home Shield should let the consumer check out the providers and if we could use our own contractors, that would be the biggest thing. Now, I have found out that Allstate started to offer the same kind of home protection service that we can use our own people. These are people who are coming into our home and once we get a provider, it's so hard if they don't do it right. We have to go back and go back and go back with American Home Shield. For the most part, it has been good service and the people that have come out have been good, but we have to be very wary of the people that gets sent out as well.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

American Home Shield gets the people out here very quickly. I get the information out there to them and then they contact you depending on what time you call for your issue. Cabot did an awesome job. They are one of the best ones AHS sent out so far to service my air conditioner. There were two guys who came out. He was training the guy as well. Both them were good. When they came into the house, they both had masks on so everything was well. They checked to make sure the AC was cooling off properly. The technician took his time to explain to me step-by-step what was going on with my unit. He gave my options and let me know the best one for me at the time. He broke it down so I could understand it and I can make my own decision of what I wanted to do. So, it was great.
The service with American Home Shield has been good so far although we had an issue with American Home Shield about a year ago. They took an extra service fee of $109 out of our account and to this day, we still haven’t resolved the issue with them. They kept saying they didn't do that. We've sent them all the documentation such as what's in our bank statement as well as everything they asked for. We still haven't received the $109 that was owed to us from them. I told them that they took the money over the phone from me from my debit card because you had to pay first before they even contact anybody. Then about a month later, they deducted another $109 out of our account. So, that put a bitter taste in my mouth for that part. But that's been the only hiccup we've had with American Home Shield.
We fought that, we talked to every person that we could, from the manager to the call center supervisor, we emailed them and sent them the documentation from my bank. I said that we don't know what else we could do. They said that their records were gonna show that. Maybe records are showing but my bank statement is showing they took $109 out of my checking account. So, that's not gonna lie.

The problem still existed and I had to spend an extra 100 bucks on the second call when the first guy could've fixed it all.
The second guy was great. He went in and identified that the fan was an issue that's why there was no air blowing in there. When he identified that, he said he was gonna have to come back. That's a second home for us. We stay there on the weekends. I said I was gonna have to come back out during the week. He called it in to see if it fit and it did. She also asked me if I would do a buyout thing where they offer me so much. I was told they were gonna send me an email to offer me a buyout for it, but I never did get an email or hear from them. This was the first time that I've had to use AHS and the warranty has been perfectly fine for what I've needed so far. They were also quick to getting someone out. But price-wise, $100 for the deductible is quite a bit, especially since the competitors are charging around $75 for the deductible. I have two properties on the same street and I have American Home Shield on both. Firstly, whenever I call the customer support, I'm put on hold for a long time trying to get hold of a representative. Sometimes it takes one hour, and sometimes it even takes about two hours. I hope they can improve that. The second thing I was not happy about is, recently, I raised a ticket for a toilet plumbing issue on one property. There was water dripping from the upstairs toilet to the ceiling downstairs and they sent a plumber who came and inspected it.
The plumber that American Home Shield sent wrongly claimed that the floor was uneven, and because of that, there was a leak. He also said that the floor had to be made even. In order to do that, it would be a charge of $500, and American Home Shield would not pay for that. I had to pay $500 out of my pocket to get the problem fixed, so I did not get the repair done. I then got a private plumber to look at it, and he said that there was no problem with the floor and that the pipe had a crack. He applied some glue and some cement to the pipe and since then, there has been no leak.
On the same property, one of the burners was not working in the kitchen cooktop and the appointment for someone to come and take a look at it took about a week after I placed the request. Axis Appliance Repair came, diagnosed the problem, and then it took them again more than a week to obtain the part. Once they obtained the part, I had to schedule the appointment again and between scheduling it after waiting for the part to arrive, it took another 10 days. I was not very happy that it took quite some time, but other than that, they replaced the burner, and the cooktop is working fine.

For my recent claim with AHS, I had water coming through my garage ceiling. It was multiple days later that the contractors came out, but they ended up having a different opening, and I wasn't very pleased with how they were like "Well, see in a week." I was like, "So I'm just supposed to leave this water destroying my sheetrock." I wasn't very happy with the initial time, but they got me in like a day 'cause they had a cancellation.
We had some renovations on our house. Plumb Genius thought that it was above where I'd had a bathroom renovated. They said they couldn't do any more because they were gonna have to move a vanity that we just had installed. We gutted and redid a bathroom, and they thought it was coming from the bathroom plumbing. I called my contractor who did the work and has been subbed it out to this guy, he came out and we figured out that it wasn't coming from the bathroom, it was coming six feet to of the left of that. So, really nice guys and they were like, "We think we know what the problem is," but the other contractor that did the plumbing found it in no time and it wasn't where Plumb Genius thought it was.
I signed up with AHS however long ago. We got all sorts of problems. We have an older house. It was built in '83. I was like, "This will be perfect." It was 76 a month. Then, the next year came and I got my bill and it was like astronomically compared to what it was a year before. We had zero claims. I'm not real happy about the price jumping after a year, and I hadn't even used them for anything. I was never notified of it too. I was like, "You can't just up the price without letting somebody know. Give me the option to opt-out." Their communication was absolutely horrid on that end. Then also, whenever I first signed up, my deductible was $100 per trip. Now, it's turned into 125.
Thank you for reaching out to us to advise of your issue. We do appreciate your feedback and would like to apologize for your experience. It is not our intent to cause such an uneasy perspective toward the warranty. My name is Robert and I will be assisting further.

It's just nice to know that you have 'cause I don't have a significant other or anyone else that I can contact other than my dad, but he couldn't do any of the work. It feels good to know that there's gonna be somebody there that can handle it.
On my recent claim regarding my AC, I liked being able to track where the contractor was. That was the first time that I've experienced that, so that was exciting. He talked to me before to ask me questions and I told him what my dad has said about the motor running but the fan was not moving. So he went right away, checked it out and seeing that that was the issue. Then it started raining like cats and dogs so it took him a little while to get back after he had left to go get some material. But he came right back and finished. AHS is very timely. I like that. It was not their fault that I had to wait 'till the weekend to get the air conditioner. But the call was answered and Elite did a good job. The first time APC Plumbing came out, they were here for five minutes, replaced the Johni-Ring and left. Within two hours the same problem was happening, it was leaking. So I called them back and they came out again. He was here for about 10 minutes that time, said that maybe he had pinched it wrong, that he flushed it five times and it should leak by then. It should be fixed. In another two hours there was still water all over the floor.
I called back a third time and they came out again. He said that he was gonna check for a hairline fracture. He couldn't find anything, so he said maybe it was just the bolts need to be tightened. So he tightened the bolts. Each time I said, “Are you guys sure? Because within a couple of hours, it starts leaking again.” He said, “No, this should do it. If not, call us back.” So in two hours, it was leaking again. I called them back and the lady at the office, who was extremely rude, told me that I had to caulk it and that would stop the leaking, which I'm not a plumber, but the water is still gonna come out whether you caulk it or not.
Then she said, “I'm not sending somebody out again. We replaced the Johni-Ring. Your warranty only covers replacing a Johni-Ring and tightening bolts. We don't do caulking and I'm not sending someone else out again.” So that was when I called AHS and requested another company. I've asked that they never ever send APC Plumbing out to me again.
I have the three invoices here, it's still not fixed. I had another company come out again and it's still not fixed. I’m having a really hard time getting this taken care of. I pay for the warranty. American Home Shield has been very helpful though. It’s just I'm not having luck with the companies they’re using.

The AC stays cool during the day, but then in the afternoon, the thermostat will reach as high as even 80 even though it is set at 70 or 72. It gets really, really hot. So I called American Home Shield and the first person that came out didn't do anything. He went out and looked at the unit and said the pressure were good. He never went into the attic to check that part of the unit. He opened up where the air filter was and said it was dirty. So he took out the air filter and told us we needed to replace it and then our problem should be done. We bought the air filter the next day, put it in, and it didn't help.
Another person that I know that works in heating and AC came over and he went outside and he looked at the unit. He said pointed out that they should have cleaned all the grime that was kicked up on the outside of the unit. He said it was something they were automatically supposed to do. He told me that there was a solution that we can spray on it that would help loosen it up, which we did. We got a water hose and it was just gunk coming off of it. It helped a little, but still in the afternoon, the AC would be 79 or 80, especially when there was more people than me and my daughter at home.
I called American Home Shield again and I asked them to not send the other guy because he didn't seem like he really wanted to be helpful. So they sent out another guy who was awesome. He came out and he looked outside at the unit. He said that all the pressures were good. He went up in the attic and he found a problem up top. He repaired that problem and he said we should be good. But it was only good for that day. The next day, the problem persisted. So I called American Home Shield back again and they never called me so I went ahead and scheduled the appointment online. Unfortunately, they sent the first guy back out again.
The guy came in and immediately when he came to the door, I explained to him the things that had happened since the first time. He was real kinda dismissive like just kinda condescending. Usually when they come, it's during the day. So the temperature seems fine when they walk in, which is why I think they kinda brush it off. So I started taking pictures of the thermostat to show him what it looks like in the afternoon. But he was kinda dismissive. His comment was, "Well, it's been triple digits in Texas. I mean, what do you expect?" I told him that even with triple digits, the thermostat shouldn't remain this high, constantly.
He said all they can do was check. So he went outside and then he came back in asking where was our other unit at. I told him it's up in the attic and I took him out to the garage. He said, "Oh, yeah, I remember this. I remember this because your daughter had to move the car for me to get to the attic." I told him that that never happened because he didn't go to the attic. My daughter doesn't even have a car and my car wasn't here at the time. He just kinda looked at me and then he went up there and came back about five minutes later. He said, "Oh, I remember what it was now. How big is your house?" I told him the square footage and he said that the problem was that the unit is too small for the size of house that I have. He told me that the unit is for an apartment complex. But the people that I bought this house from have had this unit here 15 years and they've never had a problem with the unit. It worked fine when we first moved in.
He said he checked everything and that the unit is working fine. He added that I just need a bigger unit and that was the end of it. I've tried to call American Home Shield and all I got was automated systems. I can't talk to a person to let them know the experience I've been having with the air conditioning people. I even tried to go online and do the live chat but I sat there for over an hour and no one responded to the live chat. I can't even do a follow-up to try and figure out is there another company I can deal with the AC to get a second opinion because I can't get through to them. So it's not been a good experience at all.

They knew what the problem was almost immediately. They had the part with them and they were in and out in 20 minutes. I've got a different home warranty on another house that I have and when it expires, we're gonna change to Home Shield on that too.

My garage door was broken because the spring head snapped. I did a claim online with AHS and the information just came through. It was very easy. We were told we would hear within 24 hours. AHS would get a contractor's name and he should be reaching out to us. Sam's Garage Doors came out and they had to replace the spring. The garage door is functioning okay and it's closing now although it is a little slow. On the whole, American Home Shield satisfied what I needed.

My experience with AHS has been very good so far. I've been using them for multiple houses. However, when the contractor came for my AC issue, he came multiple times and I did not like the service. First of all, they changed the coil and then they had to come back a second time because it stopped working again. So they had to change some other parts. It was broken three times and I just had enough with them. So then I called these guys, Cityline. Since there was a long gap, like a couple of months, I said, I was not gonna call the other company. There was a clog in the line. Because the water level was going high into the pipe. So they had to come and clean the pipe. But this guy said it might happen again. So we'll keep an eye on this.

Everything with American Home Shield has been very impressive so far. I'm a new member but everything’s been very professional. Everything they've told me has been spot on. I recently filed a claim for an electric switch that would not ignite. The contractor called me and set up an appointment. They were very professional.

The guy from Ramco Appliance Repair came out for an appliance issue. Fast service, polite, troubleshot relatively quickly, followed all safety components with COVID and whatnot, wore a mask. He found the problem and was done within 15 minutes then he was gone. That was the first time I had dealt with AHS and everything on the website was easy to fill out. It responded back to my email that it was submitted.

American Home Shield is pretty good. But it was a little difficult getting somebody out through them. The initial call took quite a while for them to get somebody out. Then I waited all day for the electrician to come and when he got there, he had no clue about how to fix a mobile home. So I just turned around and went through the process again and waited. I had to wait another seven days until the second group came out. They got the job done fairly well.

You're able to give them enough information on the website. The website is fine. But it's better for you as a customer to speak with somebody instead of trying to do the claim online because there’s not every option available to you there on the website that you really need to get your point across. You really need to speak with somebody in some cases. When I had a toilet issue, the gentleman who came was very, very helpful. I was working when he came so I wasn't at home but when I spoke with him prior to him coming to my home, he was very good.

We have the Monogram series and we got scheduled fairly quickly, but it was another couple of weeks to get the Monogram person out. If it could have been sooner, that would have been better, but once GE Appliances was out here, they rectified everything. Overall, our appliances are working well, so that's good. The contractors also seem very knowledgeable once they come out here.

AHS sent a company to service my refrigerator. The company they sent didn’t shut off the water valve prior to making the repair. As a result my kitchen was flooded and the ceiling in my FINISHED basement was destroyed. AHS did NOTHING to help rectify the situation. My basement is still damaged and neither the company OR AHS has done anything to fix it. To add insult to injury AHS is STILL sending this company out to service people’s home. I can only assume that the people that they send to people’s homes are not carefully vetted.

American Home Shield responded well when I filed an online claim for the garbage disposal. About two days later, the contractor made an appointment and they came out at the right time. Since the repair, it’s okay. If there was any problem, I'd call them again. Overall, American Home Shield is Excellent.

I got discouraged with the home warranty I had been with for a while. They had come out and fixed some plumbing like faucets. But maybe the policy changed or they changed things that they no longer did that service. My daughter-in-law was with American Home Shield which she also recommended to her mom and dad. She told me about the company too and I gave them a try. The only thing is that she stated that she paid $75 for when someone would come out every time the service was initiated but I pay $100. My daughter-in-law told me that even her parents don't pay what I pay. I'm like maybe American Home Shield signed me up for the highest plan.
American Home Shield sent out LA Appliance Service for my icemaker and my washer. They were great. Their tech came out two or three days after my claim was made and he was an hour early. He looked at what was needed and he ordered parts. The parts were the ones that took the longest for them to have. They were supposed to be scheduled to come out and I waited all day. I then called their office and asked them if somebody was supposed to come out. The girl apologized and said that the parts didn't come in yet. They would call me on the day they do come. That was a little bit annoying.
But for the most part, the gentleman that serviced the washing machine and the refrigerator was very professional and courteous. He was being safe and was using his mask and gloves. I was pretty happy with them. Everything's functioning just fine. The only thing is I was wondering why American Home Shield couldn't get someone that was in Kern County, like in Bakersfield, to come out.

American Home SHield's contractors from Lynch Electric fixed an outlet for me in one trip. Submitting claims to AHS has been really easy so far. It's all done on AHS's I've used them several times over the last couple of years and it's always really simple. However, I have had some trouble getting ahold of them on the phone for things. I'm selling my house, and so I had to transfer the warranty to the new owner. I tried calling Home Shield last week and it was taking such a long time that I just gave up. Other than that though, things have been good so far with them. Having their coverage has been worth the cost.

When Extreme came out last for our AC, the gentleman told me that my unit needed three pounds of Freon and that AHS would pay for $10 a pound, and I would owe the extra. Then he did that, and the air worked. They were in good communication over when they would be here. It was a five-hour window. The contractor was a nice man and seemed to know what he was doing. But the AC's broken right now and I'm waiting on Extreme to come back out and fix it.
The big box that sits outside with the fan in it started making a lot of new noise, but it was still running. Then yesterday morning, I looked out the window at it and the fan was having a hard time starting its spin. It was trying, it was doing some slow movement and then it finally started back. Then just a short time later, 30 minutes, the breaker blew. It tripped the breaker, which has happened in the past with this unit. So, when I fixed the breaker, reset the breaker and cut the air off and cut it back on, the fan never came back on. It would not turn it off. So, I just cut it off and immediately submitted a claim to AHS, but I did it on the phone this time.
I'm aggravated that my air conditioner continues to break down, but I can't really blame it on American Home Shield. As far as American Home Shield, they did a proper job. We don't have a ton of money to throw into a new air conditioner unit should it fail, or a new refrigerator. I've had it at another home previously and it’s like any other insurance. It makes sense.

With this claim, everything went well. The person came out, was very professional, solved the issue really quickly, educated me a bit about what the issue was, and lasted less than half an hour. He had a mask on, and they also had gloves on. However, my claim prior to that did not go well. The problem was with a basement drain. It was backing up. The tech cleared that out and they thought it was coming from the air conditioner because it was extremely humid and off of our AC pipe. It was like a flowing little river. Once all of that cleared up, I then found out that the water heater, which is next to it, is now leaking.
I put a claim in on a Monday a couple of weeks ago. I expected someone to call on that, but no one called. I finally called the company that was supposed to come out to look at the water heater. They came out last Wednesday. They were supposed to call before they came, which gives us time to put masks on and stuff, but they did not. They just showed up. It took about five minutes to look at the issue and the tech decided that it was leaking and that it needed to be replaced.
I called that company back a couple of days later saying I haven't heard when they will come out, and they had explained to me the process that Home Shield orders the tank, and when it's in, then they would give me a call. And I still haven't got a call. And now, it looks like it's leaking in two spots on the water heater. I was gonna wait until this afternoon to give them a call to see what the update is on that. But I haven't received any emails or anything regarding that one. That company does not seem quick at all. Hopefully when they come in, everything can be resolved quickly. It's making me nervous now that it has been over two weeks that we've seen that it has been leaking and I'm trying to get it replaced before I have a catastrophic dumping of water in my finished basement. Other than that, I've had several claims in the past and every other company seemed quick.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield regarding my refrigerator was very easy. Accord Appliance came on their behalf and the young techs from there wore masks and maintained their distance. They were also very professional and thorough. They repaired my refrigerator and it has been perfect since then. As usual, AHS's techs did a good job for me. Most of the people they contract with are well qualified.

I was having a problem with a ceiling fan, and American Home Shield sent someone out who diagnosed what the problem was. Although they were not able to do it because it did not adhere to my policy, I was not aware that that the ceiling fan had a lifetime warranty on it. They assisted me in getting in touch with the company and providing the model number and the information needed such that I could get the part that was needed to fix the fan. When the part came in, American Home Shield recontacted the person who came out initially with the diagnosis, and they came in and installed the part. I was very comfortable and satisfied with how they handled that overall situation.
There were also two or three times in which I was not comfortable with who was sent out and I asked American Home Shield to resend someone else. I didn't think that that that provider was competent based on their diagnosis and they did send someone else out. I've had American Home Shield for at least 20 years and any issues or concerns that I've had, they've been able to resolve. If they continue being able to do that for all of their customers, then they're fine.

I had trouble with my oven. The element of the broiler wasn't working. I called AHS. It took forever because they were not there now. It was very hard to reach and communicate with anybody. They got back to me and they selected the guy who called me. But the guy was a heating and air conditioning guy, he didn’t do an oven. But they had already billed me because he accepted, whatever they do with him.
I called the contractor back. I said, “You need to tell them that you’re not an oven guy, you’re a heater guy.” He said he would. I stopped payment on it. Then I called AHS back and got the oven guy that could fix it. But it took weeks because it’s COVID. He came out, and then he had to get the part. But he came and my oven’s working now. He brought a new heating element. I haven't had any problems with AHS. But when I had a bathroom problem, they counted it as two problems, like the tub water and the sink water were dripping. So I paid twice, but it was the same plumber, the same visit. But other than that, they’ve been okay.

We were originally with 2-10 ‘cause that is what the owner of the house went with as part of offering the house warranty. I've seen different ads and different things for American Home Shield, and when we had other people come out through 2-10, they said American Home Shield was one of their better clients that they've had that's why we went with them. American Home Shield is great. They are extremely efficient. They take care, they listen, and their website is easy to use so I can figure out where I'm going. It’s easily navigable. That is always nice that it’s able to do that.
Carolina Air and Heating came and did a great job. They fixed the issue with the AC unit. There was also a clog somewhere along the line. It was causing backup water issues in the house and they fixed that for me too. Scheduling me didn't take long at all. I did the claim that night and that next morning the lady called. Being summer, they've been so busy and said they couldn't do it until the next week but I was fine. We still have two out of three AC units running in the house because of my ductwork.

I called on a Friday morning and Arizona Trade Masters came out that day and fixed the AC. But two days later, it broke again. It was a different issue so I can't necessarily blame them for that. This happened Saturday night so I called AHS first thing Sunday morning on their emergency line. It was around 10:00 and I waited till noon. I didn't hear anything. I called them again at noon and whoever answered the call told me they would have somebody contact me within the next hour.
The wait times are ridiculous. I sat on hold for at least an hour every time I called them. Then 2:00 rolls around and I called back. I sat on hold and got through to somebody. They said they were gonna contact three different people from their list and one of them should contact me. So I waited another two hours. Nobody contacted me so I called back again. This is now somewhere between 4:00 and 5:00 on Sunday. I told them that I needed to get my AC fixed. I have animals and a kid. I couldn't sleep or leave animals at the house in 100-degree weather. They said they have extinguished all of their resources. At this point, I needed to contact and find somebody on my own and then call back and get approval for them to fix it.
I called and called and called and called and finally got through to somebody. This was now 7:30-ish and they showed up at my house. I tried calling AHS. I sat on hold for 35 minutes and I was over it. I was gonna deal with them later. So I had the tech fix it and I paid the bill. I called AHS the next day, which would have been a Monday, to try to work it out. They said they would have to have somebody call me back but nobody called me back. I called again on Tuesday and said that I needed to talk to a manager. I sat on hold for an hour and 45 minutes and the phone got disconnected because they were gonna three-way somebody and no one did. After that, I had my girlfriend call because there was no use in me calling. I was all worked up. She got it to where we emailed in the copy of the invoice for the repair because the fan motor went out. From this point forward, I haven't heard anything back from AHS and I'm out of pocket $1,000 on it.
When I had an electrical issue in my kitchen, AHS sent somebody out and fixed it right away. Everything went great there. So when my bill came around the next year to renew it, I renewed it even though I paid them more than it costs for them to have the outlet fixed the first year. But they took care of it. They did great the first time I dealt with AHS and the first air conditioner problem. But now, I'm waiting to hear back if they are refunding me the $1,000 that I had to dish out to get my air conditioner fixed on a Sunday. I paid them the $600 a year right away. They don't gotta wait for it. But I'm stuck in this predicament. I understand it was on a Sunday but we're two weeks from then and I haven't heard a thing. At this point, depending on how this situation goes, I'm probably gonna look for a different home warranty program.

My air conditioner stopped working and the tech sent by American Home Shield who came to look at it didn't tell me what the cost was exactly. I had already paid $100 to AHS to have that tech come out and then he was saying the whole repair was gonna cost $900 because I had to pay for the Freon. It was better for me to get a new unit instead so I had that priced. AHS offered me $700 for a new unit which cost me over $7,000. That was disappointing as one way, it would cost me $1,000 if I go with AHS but then the other way, it would cost me over $7,000 for a completely new unit and AHS would only give $700. I talked to a couple of techs and they told me that when the condenser or compressor of a unit goes out, it would be an expensive part for an older AC unit. Regardless, I'm disappointed that I'm paying close to $100 a month for the tech to come out and because Home Shield, doesn't cover plugs, caps and Freon, it would cost me close to $1000 when I'm done. If AHS would have fixed my issue for $100, I would have been okay with things. This is what keeps me thinking whether or not AHS is something I wanna keep.
More recently, my dryer latch was broke and they it wouldn't close. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Precision Appliance repair. The tech who was sent was a really nice guy who seemed to know everything. However, what he did didn't resolve the issue and he had to order a part and come back. While I've been teetering whether or not to keep AHS because of the issue with the air conditioning, so far, AHS has been good and professional.

We had an AC claim on a Sunday and Ambient Air Heating was out here by Monday. It was a little tougher in Tucson ‘cause it was so hot. The technician had to get another part and one of his coworkers had it. After a couple of hours, he came back and it was fine.
