    I did one claim with American Home Shield online and another one over the phone. I had a very frustrating experience with the woman I talked with because she couldn’t understand me. I had my policy sitting in front of me and she told me that I didn’t have coverage for my dishwasher when I was looking right at it and seeing that I did have coverage. My experience with her was very negative. I couldn’t understand her because of her thick accent.

    There were two guys who came out. One came to look at the dishwasher and another took a look at the ceiling fan. The guy that came to look at the dishwasher seemed to do a good job. The dishwasher is no longer plugged, although I haven’t run it yet because I’ve just had one catastrophe after another over here. I’m just getting ready to run it to know if it drains properly. But he was very courteous and he left me his card and said, “If there are any problems, let me know.” I liked him. The claim I did over the phone, the guy came over and looked at it and he goes, “Yeah, we’re gonna have to cover that. We cover that,” but I’ve never heard back from him, and it hasn’t been fixed. So, I’m really not very happy. I would really appreciate if someone would follow up with me on the second claim.

    I needed a rekey and I contacted AHS on the phone. I got great results from talking with their rep and a tech from Zippy Locks was sent out the next day. He was excellent and very professional. He knew exactly what he was doing and he did it in a timely manner. I also felt like I could trust him in my home. Other than that, I had a plumber out as well and I need to call him back. The toilet is still doing the same thing and I don't think he ran the lines to get the clog. He said that I had 60 days and that was just last week. It's not their fault though. It's not American Home Shield's fault and I have to contact them again.

    Our upstairs air conditioner wasn’t working, and New Phase Comfort and Heating found the problem with the unit. They fixed it and recharged it. They called me, scheduled a time, they were here when they said they would be, and they found the problem and fixed it. They showed up on time, too. I had one thing that I was gonna call about. They charged me to refill the Freon. I know that’s not covered under the warranty. So, I paid that when they did it. But then, I got an email saying that the first $90 was covered by warranty, and I paid the whole thing to them. So, I wanted to see if that was reimbursable.

    I submitted my claim online and navigating through American Home Shield's website was simple. I’ve had no bad experience. We had one contractor who didn't show up three times or even call, but when I called American Home Shield, they took care of it. And the people they sent out ended up being really good. All in all, my experience with American Home Shield was positive, professional, and just what I would expect.

    Our garage door openers would not open or close. It was powering up, but the engine wouldn’t engage. I was trying to submit the claim online to American Home Shield but I was having difficulty. It wouldn’t allow me to do it online, so I had to call. I spoke with an individual and she was very nice, polite, got me set up and completed my request. They were able to schedule someone to come out the next day. There was a part that blew up and the repair man came, replaced the part, and fixed it. He was great, very polite and timely.

    The contractor for the garage doors got there within a few days. They were great. The problem was not completely solved because it wasn’t something that was covered by American Home Shield, but they were able to come out and take a look. They advised me what it would be if we wanted to get it fixed. The garage door experience was totally fine. We had another claim for our instant hot water that was broken and the contractor was able to eventually come out. They assessed that it needed to be replaced, and the guy went out to the property yesterday and replaced it.

    The experience of setting up that service call was a little bit frustrating because I spent quite a while on the phone. I wound up calling in because it would not allow me to submit that request online. I sat on the phone with a rep for quite a while before she was able to resolve the situation. She was telling me that that was not covered under our plan even though I was looking at the contract and telling her exactly what page it said that it was covered. She said, “No, I’m sorry. Even though you’re looking at that right now, that is not your plan.” I basically had to fight quite a bit on that for her to even look into it further to see that it was actually covered under our contract. Had it been an older person or somebody that wasn’t as literate as I was, they could have been taken advantage of and just having to do it themselves even though it was actually paid for under the contract.

    I have used this company for two years and reluctantly signed up for the second year this March. Being an experienced Realtor, I know how this game works for all such companies: contract with mediocre local vendors who do poor work and need to come back twice for double fees of 75.00 and when something truly goes wrong and replacement is needed it is in "process: in our case for 28 days without a washer. Cancellation took me to Indonesia 3x with no help and scripting, then by accident I pressed the wrong button on the main line and got US offices. They will not refund the remaining policy for 8 months and want to charge me 70.00 to cancel! Unbelievably poor service on all fronts. Stay away.

    The customer service and the customer service of the companies that services AHS is horrible. When you have an issue you will be on hold forever and seems like they just read from a script and never answer your questions. I have had 4 services calls which two different technicians that didn't show, don't follow up and don’t know how to fix your issue. Then when you call AHS their only answer is, “We will set up another appointment with another service provider.” Going on 4 weeks with our air condition and $300+ out of pocket. I also am a realtor and I will going forward recommend my clients to put the $35.00 in a savings account versus paying the monthly fees, service charge and the items they don't cover. Might as well save your money yourself and pay when something breaks and save your sanity. Not worth the time and money you have to spend with these guys.

    I have personally seen companies not honoring contract in other countries but this has been my first experience in US which is my home for the last decade or so. AHS need to do a bit more to understand the definition of customer service. I happened to take the 3X3 Combo plan on Jun 03rd and in a month had an issue with my A/C Cooling. Thankfully AHS send a contractor within a day or so, which gave me a good impression of their service. What happened after that, altered my impression from a company like AHS. The Contractor: AC Wizard comes & without doing a proper test fills 3 pounds of Freon telling that it is very during Summer (AHS takes $100 Service which is as per contract, so no issues).

    2 weeks later A/C in the same state and this time he does Nitrogen test (Does it Free as it was related to the same Service, so was happy about it) and detects leak in my Evaporator coil. He informs that they will replace the Evaporator coil in 3 days. 4 days later when I do not get call from the Contractor or AHS, I call up AHS Customer Support and get the information that Evaporator coil is not covered in Contract (do keep in mind that there is no mention of coil being excluded in the Contract ) and tells a Contract clause which does not make sense to anyone who understands English. I felt sorry for the Customer Support lady who was still very composed even though I asked her all this. The next statement from the Customer Support was that Technician put information that the Evaporator Coil was leaking (Water) and it was NORMAL WEAR & TEAR.

    My House was constructed in 2015 Oct. Considering that I have no idea on Evaporator coil, I did a quick good search and see that it is clearly mentioned that Coils will stay for 10-15 yrs. The Customer Support Executive informs me that I have to pay $1500 out of my pocket and when I raised concern, gave the suggestion to go for Cash-In-Lieu option informing that it would be better option for me and that it will result in my total Out of Pocket being less than $1500 (this did not make sense to me but I just listened). She advised to call Customer support the next day (i.e. today) and then have them route the call to Cash-In-Lieu Dept. Keeping with her advice, I called up Customer Support and they tell me that Cash-In-Lieu will call me and that I do not need to call. They informed that it will take another 48 hrs. to 72 hrs. for Cash-In-Lieu to call me.

    Meanwhile I get a call from AC Wizard Office Manager, Dallas to check if I am proceeding with the Evaporator Coil changing and she discouraged me from Cash-In-Lieu telling that if I go for it, I may get only about $300-400 and that my Out of Pocket will go up from $1500 to $2300. Everyone in this equation knows that my Evaporator Coil is under Manufacturer warranty, which makes it more concerning & for a normal person like me it looks nothing but a Ripoff. Now I am into my 3rd week after first reporting the A/C Cooling issue and with 2 small kids, I do not have an option to wait any longer. So I am forced to go to another A/C Contractor to get it fixed by paying upfront not knowing whether I will get anything from AHS or not. But do understand not many would be able to take such a step easily.

    You made me lose confidence in AHS and in turn lost a person who could have been a loyal customer contributing to your growth by promoting it to friends. My general advise to those reading this and who can afford fixes < $10000 it is not worth going for Home Warranty and have a terrifying experience later when a claim arises. I learned from my mistake. Hope you do not make that mistake. Please take the criticism constructively to be better than others in your field!!

    My AC stopped working in the middle of summer in Arizona. I put in a service request online. When the service tech arrived, 2 days later and 3 hours later, he said he was not licensed to work on my ac because it was a condo complex with 4 units in one building. He needs to be commercial licensed. I called AHS and they said they would put in a new request with a commercially licensed tech. Next day, there is no service request logged. I called and went through it all again... Next day, no service request logged. It had been canceled because the tech did not have a ladder tall enough. No one contacted me to let me know this.

    The customer service is lousy. I requested a manager several times, with no answer. The system to place a service request is inadequate. They should have know to Send a commercially licensed tech. The customer service reps sound like they are in another country. How can a company called AMERICAN Home Shield outsource to another country. The whole experience has been extremely frustrating and I'm not likely to renew...they don't seem to be interested in helping me at all. I should at least get my fee back. I was on hold so long waiting for an answer about refunding my fee, that I hung up. Every time I've called, I've been put on hold for long periods of time. I'm done.

    American Home Shield was recommended to us and we wish we had done more research. Recently our hot water heater had to be replaced. We went through the process of calling American Home Shield and they informed us that we could either use one of the companies that they contract or we could find someone ourselves and they would reimburse us no more than $397.50. THIS IS A TRICK! Since we decided to find a company on our own to replace our hot water heater, we are now having to fight to be reimbursed. They have rejected our invoice of $900 and their reasoning is because the person we hired is not with a company. He is licensed/register plumber that is a one-man shop and doesn't have a fancy name to put on their invoice. DO NOT GET AMERICAN HOME SHIELD FOR YOUR HOME WARRANTY!! THEIR SERVICE IS INEFFICIENT!!!!

    BEWARE! If you are buying a home, never buy the extended warranty!!! We got AHS aka American Home Shield. Yes, they will send someone to look at the item, however when/if parts arrive they are not obligated to come out right away and fix it. This isn't the first time that happened to us. First dishwasher, we ended up buying new after 2 weeks and now waiting for them. Faucet, it had arrived here, we had to call someone else and pay out of pocket to install.

    Furnace, diagnosed, never came back to fix. AHS you will be on the phone forever and getting nowhere! Washing machine had been broken for 3 weeks now, technician got the part 10 days ago and I still have no appointment. I'll just go ahead and buy a new one at this point. I had spent about 11 hours in phone calls so far. I'm done! DO NOT purchase home warranty for appliances, not worth the trouble, there is no real saving, and at the end of the day, you'll still have an old, might be fixed appliance.

    To submit my claims, I call American Home Shield and they’ve got an automated system where I can tell them exactly what’s wrong. And at that point, they send me either a text or a callback saying that so and so will be dispatched to make this repair. And I pay them $75 copay and then the contractors come out. The AHS reps tell me within 24 to 48 hours that I’ll be contacted by a specific contractor. And then usually within 24 hours, I hear from the contractor about what day or time they will be out. Recently, 1 Call Contractors came out to repair a couple of light switches in the house. They were on time, made quick repairs, and were in and out, and I’ve been happy with the service. My experience was satisfactory.

    There was a leak underneath the bathroom and I called American Home Shield. It was on a Friday and there was a text message from Neely’s, the contractor, that they would come on Monday. The guy was great, very nice and professional. He said it was something that was loose upstairs in the bathtub that caused the leak to come through. It was a repair that he fixed, and it solved the problem. He did a great job and he figured it out quickly. I recommend AHS all the time and I tell everybody about them. I’ve been with them 15 years minus 2 months. I’ve tried somebody else and they weren’t good, so I came back. American Home Shield is the best warranty out there.

    American Home Shield sent out Appliance Connection after I called AHS about my dishwasher that wasn't working. It wouldn't come on. I was told when the contractor would come out. When they came, they tried to repair the dishwasher but they couldn't. Because of this, I was given a brand new dishwasher. They picked out a Maytag unit that was comparable to what I had which was a $900 unit. It took three weeks for the new appliance to get here but that was fine. The contractor was excellent. Everything was great.

    The dishwasher wouldn't go on and the lights would just blink. I went online to submit a claim with AHS and it was easy. Their website was user-friendly. Then they gave me an idea of when the contractor was gonna call. They were pretty good and the contractor, Pro Appliances, called quickly. The service was also great and at the moment, they're still in the process of ordering a part. But before this claim, the same tech came out for our dryer and he fixed that. It's been working fine since the repair, too. All in all, it's been a pleasant experience and I would recommend AHS.

    There was a time when my AC wasn't working. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and they got someone to come out within 24 hours which was pretty quick. The interactions with Central Jersey Heating & Cooling, the contractor whom they sent, were great. They needed to order a part but then the tech got my AC running for me temporarily until the part came in. Thus far, I've been happy with my AHS. I'm gonna continue with them.

    I had water on the floor in the bathroom. I went over the phone to file a service request with American Home Shield. It’s never easy to do that. They could always make sure that I can talk to somebody in the United States. I can’t understand them at all. Also, for many of the things that I have problems with, they use Sears, and they are awful. They never get the job done. And they can’t schedule it at a time frame that really works for me. They are extremely uncooperative, too. And I was told one of the last times that there wasn’t anybody other than Sears that would work on my refrigerator, which it still has some problems. But I told them I didn’t want Sears, and they said if I didn’t use Sears and they didn’t have somebody else, then they wouldn’t service me.

    I had a claim where Krall Plumbing came out and that one seemed to work fine. The contractor was an older man and abrupt, but he got the job done. Still, I’m not really happy with the way American Home Shield has treated me. It has been a hassle. I have been disappointed. I’ve been with them for quite some time, and I have had better service until we ended up with the last few years with Sears. And it has been a nightmare.

    I had ice machine problems and the guy that was sent by American Home Shield was great. I had a death in the family and he had to reschedule with me several times because I didn't know what was going on. Unfortunately, the ice machine didn't work for four or five days prior to him coming. And then, when he came out, it was working fine. It was full of ice. There was no repair but he was very respectful and did work with me when things were kind of rough.

    We always submit claims online to American Home Shield. That’s really the easiest thing for us. The contractors that came out were wonderful and easy to get in contact with. They were good about telling us what was going on. Recently, whenever we set our washing machine to cold water, hot water would come out. At first, the gentleman that came over to fix it thought that there was some problem with the thing that determines whether it should pump out cold or hot water so he got one of those and came back and installed it but it had the same problem. Then we realized that the hot and cold water pipes had been installed backwards. He was awesome, figured out what the problem was, fixed it, and everything worked out great.

    I always call when submitting a claim to American Home Shield. The people are very good and their customer service is excellent. I would recommend them. My pool heater was not working and True Blue came out to diagnose it and see what the issue was. The interaction with them was very good but it took them a bit longer to fix it because of the parts. That pool heater has not been updated in a while and they took care of ordering the parts. Everything has been good since then. True Blue has had to come out twice this year and they were very good and efficient. They also had very good communication.

The tech was very patient, explained to me what the issue was, and he replaced the part. We had someone else come out who services our unit, and they said that it was the blower.     I had the the house rekeyed through American Home Shield. The guy they sent was a nice guy. He called me by phone. He was not sure and he called American Home Shield, and they said they were gonna cover it. He was all smiles when he came and he did the locks out. He took care of it and they're all done. There was some stickiness on one of the doors but when he was done, not only were the locks rekeyed, but everything just works smoother and better.

    However, sometimes there's confusion between the vendors and the companies in what American Home Shield covers. But I just shrug my shoulders, talk to them and figure it out. What makes American Home Shield is I don't pay them any more money when their contractors come. If it's covered, it's covered. If it's not, it's not. I did have an earlier claim on the garage. Some things aren't covered and I thought I'd check the file to see. I had to do something and it came out of pocket but I didn't get too upset on that one because well, some things aren't covered.

    I requested four services altogether online from American Home Shield including plumbing, running toilets and a leaking garbage disposal. Navigating their website was easy but then there is a limit of four on the number of requests I can make for a single service. Also, there aren't enough options to describe what my problem actually is. When the technician from Allstate Plumbing called, I had to let them know what the problem and describe it to them rather than the American Home Shield website.

    Allstate's techs did a very good job. They were very professional on the way they handled things. I was requesting them if they could do the job a little sooner, and they did. However, once they completed the job, they had to clean where the water is and where the water has gone right under the sink. I had to explicitly ask them to do that.     The air conditioner was having problems. The guy that came out was nice and fixed it except it would still randomly have the problem. The lady in the office of the contractor company called me and was trying to schedule an appointment on a Thursday. I was off on Friday by chance. I told her that it was okay if the tech couldn't come on a Friday. She wanted to schedule the next Monday. I said that I have to go back to work and that I work out of town. I asked to do it on the 29th and she couldn't. She had the whole week ago with the schedule. She was super rude the whole time. In the end, I told her that my schedule doesn’t fit theirs. I asked her name and why she was so rude. She said a bad word and hang up on me. I didn’t know if she was having a bad day or what, but I thought that was a little bit extreme.

    I called American Home Shield and told them to make sure to mark on that contractor never to send to my house again and to find somebody else. At first, they said that it's their contractor for years. I told them if that's the only one they can use, I’m gonna cancel and get another home warranty that can use somebody else, and they figured it out.     I was supposed to hear from BestWay Mechanical last week because when the guy came in to check, he needed to come back another time to repair the issue but I haven’t received a call. We thought it was the water heater, but we're glad it wasn't because we got it with American Home Shield just a few years ago. There was condensation coming from the AC unit, and the really awesome staff person, Mike, came by and then checked to see why it was still leaking after we were sure it was good to go. He saw that a part of it was frozen. So, it would be best to turn it off temporarily for that to melt. That was the cause of the issue and he said that the best way was to come back in again to go ahead and repair that issue. Since it has been a little while, I probably need to call him myself. I was gonna call AHS or the contractor as well so they can come back out and get that situated.

    I appreciate AHS. They are all very helpful and always very willing to help. Even when some of the times, I had issues with getting in touch with their repair company, they were able to step in and make the calls themselves. So, that was helpful and very good extra effort on their end. They always get the job done and if it takes a little longer, they call or make sure that it still gets done, which is the best anyone can really ask.

    VIP came out for the washer. On the day I called in for service, I had washed all the clothes. It was in the last load of clothes washing but for some reason, it started putting codes on the display. It had never done that. It was a locked position and it wouldn't unlock the door. I had a hard time but I finally worked the right system to get the door unlocked. I even tried to run the washer again to drain some of the water that was in there because I have a front loader and I had that option on the display as well. But then I went ahead and called American Home Shield. Because my daughter had some surgery and is here for a few weeks, I had to get whatever problems that might be taken care of done. I didn't wanna have to have to run out and do my laundry at some laundromat.

    The claims process was easy and simple, and thank goodness, they were able to get the part. They were saying they may have to replace the washer but I didn’t want that because I like my washer. My washer and dryer are a matching set. VIP had to wait for the part to come in but they did the repair as quickly as they could and the technician who did the installation also cleaned up his area. He did a very good job.

    My air conditioner wasn’t blowing air at all and when I submitted a claim with AHS, it went perfectly fine. I did it online and the process was pretty simple, quick and very comprehensive. The website was straightforward, too. The technicians found out there was a variable speed motor that had gone out and there was a part that they needed to get for me. It took a bit longer to get because we didn’t have that part in-state, so the technicians had to wait for the part to arrive. But other than that, it was flawless. They were very prompt to ensure that they follow through with the repair as soon as they got the part. And the repair was really quick. It only took about 20 minutes to a half hour and everything’s working fine until now.     Normally, I call AHS to put in claims and when I call, their system is automated. I would love to be able to request the company that I want. When I'm doing the automated thing on the phone, their system would say "Hold on and we'll see when we can get you scheduled." The system would come back telling me who the servicing company would be, give their phone number and tell me that the company would contact me. Right now, there is no place where I can request which company I want which I would love to be able to do.

    One time, I had an issue with the commode in my master bath. I called AHS on a Friday and Drain Go of Alabama was here by Monday morning, right when they said they would be. Their techs introduced themselves to me which was nice. They diagnosed the problem immediately and had the parts they needed to replace those inside my tank and fixed my commode. During that time, they were showing me everything. Thereafter, they made sure that it worked correctly and were out. They weren't even here for 30 minutes and they were great. Now it's been operating perfectly. More recently, my water tank blew up and Drain Go also came and replaced it.

    I called American Home Shield for my AC and got a representative. They set everything up, gave me a work order number and we went from there. I requested who I wanted for the repair because I had a problem with the other contractor they have that didn’t come out. They had to work on getting me the one that I requested that had come out before. They got the contractor to come out and he did a good job. He repaired everything while he was here when he said he would be here.

    The one before the last work order, there were two different contractors. We have two AC units, one upstairs and one downstairs. One contractor was supposed to do the air duct upstairs ‘cause there was no air coming out and the other contractor was supposed to repair the AC system downstairs. But what happened was the contractor that was supposed to come for the AC unit downstairs never called back and never showed up.

    When the contractor for the air duct came, he said since he was here, he would call and have them give him the work order and he would take everything. So, one contractor did another contractor’s repair work. He came back this last time, but when he did his return, he found that there was a leak so I had to pay for the Freon even though it was leaking and that was to keep it until they could order the parts. He just came this last time, replaced the parts and put the Freon in. Overall, American Home Shield is responsive and they did a nice job.

    It’s pretty easy to make a claim with American Home Shield. But I think because of the time of year that we’re at, with a lot of heat going on, there are a lot of appliances that are not working so it took the contractor a while to get out when the refrigerator quit running. American Home Shield got somebody out within three days which was good but he was unable to repair it. It was gonna need a new compressor so he went back and told whoever that someone else needed to come out. That took several weeks. From the time that we made the claim to the time that we actually got it fixed, it was a total of five weeks. We lost $400 worth of food.

    But both of the technicians that came out were very friendly and pleasant to deal with. We made a claim on an air conditioner compressor problem not too long ago, and then this claim came along. There was never a hint of a problem with the fact that we were putting in too many claims and I found that good. By far, even with the waiting period, our experience with American Home Shield beats the overall expense of trying to take care of these things on your own.

    If I have a heating and air conditioning problem and I submit a claim with AHS, I'd prefer Quality Air HVAC Trust because they have been here on more than one occasion to handle my furnace and air conditioning situation. I became aware of them. Recently, I had a landscaper landscape my hedges and he clipped my Freon line to my compressor outside. It was 90 something degrees outside and this landscaper through his insurance, brought out his guy to work on the AC. But what he tried to do didn't work.     My AC wasn't getting cold. I like to call and talk to a real person, so I called AHS and filed a claim. The contractors they sent out fixed it but it took a couple of trips as there was more than one problem. So after they fixed it the first time, something else went wrong on the unit and they fixed it again. There were long delays, too and it was over 100 degrees and there was no cooling. Plus, it happened on a Friday and they were closed on the weekends so, I had to wait three days. And the technicians were really busy, so I had to tough it out through some hot days.

I put the claim in late on a Friday, and the following Monday, I got a call from somebody. We had an inspector come out and he was on time, very professional and super quick.     American Home Shield sent out Westaire for my air conditioner. Their guy diagnosed the issue and had to come out two times. The first time he came out, he said the AC needed Freon so he put Freon in. It worked for about three weeks. But all of a sudden, the AC started throwing hot air again and the motor started making a loud fuzzy noise. I called American Home Shield and they assigned another company, A&E. I thought that wasn't right because the first company that came out should be the one responsible for it. I called American Home Shield and they said I was right about that.

    But A&E still came. They diagnosed the AC and replaced the motor. It has been a couple of weeks and the AC has been working fine. I then got a notice that I was gonna be billed for another $100 for the service charge. I called American Home Shield and talked with them. After some long discussions, they decided that they were correct with what they told me before that the service charge of $100 should have been covered under the first visit.

    I've had other claims with American Home Shield. There were some times that they were good and there were some times when it was a real fight to get them to do the service. But it's not American Home Shield’s problem. It’s the vendors that they ship these things out to. There was one company that would never return my call. I called American Home Shield and they tried contracting them. I was on hold. When the rep came back on, she said the vendor wouldn't answer her call either. We ended up transferring the service request to another vendor. Other than that, I’ve recommended American Home Shield to friends. I talked about the good experiences and I told them about the bad ones too.

    When the pool was first opened, the heater wasn't working and then, all of a sudden, the motor on the pool started making a lot of noise. We looked at it and couldn't find a reason for it. It looked like it needed a repair, so we went online and filed a claim to American Home Shield, which has always been great. They sent Clear Water Pools out who called to say there were coming. I gave them access to the backyard and they looked at it and said that the motor was worn and was dying. They ordered the things they needed and they came and put them in. It was very easy and the problem seems to be all repaired and good. We have recommended American Home Shield to friends.

When replacing only the Evaporator Coil on your indoor system there are 2 modifications needed to the PVC PIPING and COPPER TUBING , these are also not covered by AHS.     The problem was finally resolved after more than five weeks. The original contractor was replaced by Proficient Appliance who too needed more than one visit to properly diagnose the problem. After replacing the rails and a faulty switch the door now closes properly. I am not too happy with the call center services but the consumer affairs representative was helpful and professional.

    I have a Whirlpool refrigerator with French doors that had problem with freezer door not closing properly. Requested a service with American Home Shield and they sent SOS Services to fix the issue on July 16, 2019. Keith from SOS Services diagnosed the problem to being a defective door and gasket. He told me that a new door needed to be ordered to fix the problem. It has been two weeks and I have called customer service five times and each time they tell me that the part order has not yet been authorized by the purchasing department but would not tell me the reason. They would not give the contact information for the authorization department nor would they give me contact information of someone in AHS who could explain why there is a hold up. I have no idea when the parts will be ordered and when my refrigerator will be fixed. Frustrated and angry.

    If you have run of the mill problems, they are fine, as long as you do not have to call or have any kind of problem. I have geothermal heating/cooling and they have no clue what to do. They don't even have a selection for it. Every time I place a service request, their contractor comes and says they don't service it. Then it is a fight to get them to cover the contractor that is certified to do it. This latest service need they said from the start there was no one to service it and I could proceed with my own contractor. Then 2 days later they assigned someone anyway, AFTER I had service and paid for a part replacement. It is 100 degrees right now, I could not make my family and animals wait.

    So, I called and talked to another rep to whom I explained the issue. She said the first person told me the wrong thing, NOT my problem. I was told I needed to be transferred to "escalation". I was on hold for over a half hour!!!! Now it is being referred to a supervisor for investigation and if the first rep confirms my story, I might get reimbursed.

    The overall worst part is that AHS's customer service is outside the US I am in no way prejudice, but it is obvious that English is their second language which causes miscommunication. Calling them is an exercise in slow talking and patience. I am so unhappy with their phone customer service that I am going to change companies once the current issue is resolved.

    Moved into the house a few months ago and the appliance insurance was required by the lender. I had no objections. Early in July the circulation fan for the upstairs unit failed so I contacted AHS. The technician responded 1 week after the service request was submitted and after inspecting the unit told me that he needed to go and get the part. That was 2 weeks ago. So as of this upcoming Monday it will have been 3 weeks since I reported the outage and the unit still has not been repaired. Since I have never had appliance insurance before I'm quite new to the service. IS THIS WAIT TIME NORMAL?

    Simple: Requested service from AHS for A/C issue. They selected service TECH and charged me for service call and evaluation. TECH never followed up with them, or with me. I spent 2 weeks (TWO WEEKS) waiting in the SOUTHERN HEAT and decided to finally replace the unit. I followed up with AHS who said they would make a payment in lieu for the service that could have/should have been done; however, they needed the paperwork from their selected technician to determine the amount. TO BE FAIR: THEY HAD DONE SO THE PREVIOUS YEAR WITH MY SECOND A/C UNIT.

    Now, months later, and several calls and hours on the phone - they still don't have the report from the service tech that THEY SELECTED. Accordingly, they claim not to know how much to compensate. Two days ago, I called and they agreed that since no report had been filed, they would have to estimate a payment in lieu amount and call back in 48 hours. I did so today, and AGAIN - I get the answer that we are waiting on the report from the service TECH! This is a SCAM to see who can wait out the other. Disgusting. If all calls are really recorded, as they say on the many I have been on, they would do well to listen and learn how NOT to provide support. Really, a shame.

    Our AC stopped working in 100 degree Missouri weather. They couldn’t get someone out for 4 days. I asked them to look for someone sooner, so they cancelled the appt I had and after 5 hrs of looking, it was now out to 6 days. The person on the phone blamed me because I had asked for a closer date. Then they offered to have me find my own contractor. Come to find out they have a terrible reputation of not paying claims and leaving contractors on hold they wouldn’t do business with them. I paid out of pocket, got it fixed same day, and cancelled my contract with AHS. Unless you have a problem that can wait several days, this doesn’t work, they won’t call anyone outside who they contract with and that appears to be only a handful in our area.

    The refrigerator was leaking a bunch of water out of the bottom on a regular basis. I filed the claim online late on a Thursday evening, and the contractor didn’t contact us until Monday to make the appointment. Once the appointment was made, they were very prompt and fixed it in a matter of minutes. It was great. My wife was the one that went home when they came, and she was very happy, because she was tired of placing a towel in front of the refrigerator to soak up the water every day.     Everything in the garage is connected to one GFI outlet. The thing shorted out and our freezer went out. We thought it might have been the freezer, but it wasn’t because when I plugged it in to some place in the house, the freezer worked. I called American Home Shield and told them I needed to have somebody come out because it was an emergency. This was on a Friday and they said somebody would be out there next week. But I couldn't wait until then. We had hundreds of dollars of food in the freezer. I was disappointed with American Home Shield. I haven’t had any problem with them in the past, but I was dissatisfied in this particular instance. I didn’t know if it was the freezer or not. They said that the outside freezers aren't covered under the contract. But I need to have somebody to come out and fix it.

    I got the name of the guy that was supposed to come. I called him and he said he would be right out in half an hour. The nice part was it was the day after the 4th of July and they were closed, but a guy came out anyway because he was worried about our freezer. We could lose all the food there. It turned out it was not the freezer but the GFI outlet so he replaced the outlet in the garage. It took him probably about 10 seconds.

AHS told me the name of the place so I googled and called them. They said that they canceled 'cause they didn't service my city. I had to call back to AHS again and they assigned me somebody new.     Our air conditioning had gone out, and I requested service on that. I did my claim with American Home Shield over the phone. Initially, it was an automated request. And then I had a chance to speak with a representative once I did not get a response from the initial company that they recommended. And so, that was a good interaction. They were able to identify someone, an alternative, and that was who came out.

    When the contractor came out, I shared with him what the issue was. He went out and started doing his work. We didn’t have a whole lot of interaction other than that, until he was done. And then he provided an overview of what he did, and he was able to resolve the issue. I was very pleased with not only him contacting me, letting me know that he was in route, when he was expected to come, but also what repairs he had to do, and making some other suggestions as well to get it resolved. The AC has been good and it’s working really well. In fact, it's better than it was before.

    I put in a service request with American Home Shield for my AC, and Air Patrol came out. I have two units. One is not working, and one is not blowing cold air. So, they came and they fixed both the issues. Once they fixed it, there was a water leakage from one of the AC unit. So, they came back in and they fixed it. But I had the damage on my ceiling. I called them, they came, and they fixed that. That was a positive experience, but I also had very bad experience with American Home Shield. I made several calls, and I talked to the leadership, and I don't see any change. Most of the time, they will come and do something and say, "It is not covered." And I need to pay $75. And then, it takes 30 minutes to get somebody in the phone line, and they won't respond properly on the phone. But the latest time, when I called them, I was able to get somebody quickly.

    I’ve been doing my claims with American Home Shield by phone. But it’s kinda hard to get through on the phone. It takes a while. That wait time needs to be improved very much. Other than that, I’m satisfied with the coverage that I have with American Home Shield. Recently, my air conditioner wasn’t blowing out cool air. Carolina Air Heating and Cooling came out. They had to come back twice. The first guy that came didn't check everything. He just assumed what was wrong with it. But the next guy that came checked everything, and he made sure everything was right fixed after that.

    We had a problem with the air conditioner. It was running but no cold air was coming out. We did a claim with American Home Shield through a computer on the phone. We called on a Friday. So because of the weekend, A1 Mitchell’s Heating and Cooling didn’t get out until the following Monday. American Home Shield gave us A1 Mitchell and we called that same Friday to see if they could come out over the weekend, but they were already booked.

    When they came out, they had to come back in four days after they injected it to see where it was leaking. And then when they came back out, then they realized which parts were needed to be replaced. So they had to order the part and it was on back-order. They came back out a week later. Then when they put the new part in, something else went on it. So they had to order those parts and come back. So it was about three weeks before they got it running, but now it runs great. Other than this one time where it took that long to get all the parts, we’ve always had the contractors to come out. They either fixed the issue the same day or within a couple of days. If we get another house, we’re gonna definitely keep going with American Home Shield.

    I went online and requested assistance for my air conditioner that stopped working. American Home Shield quickly responded and sent an awesome gentleman out to do the work. They're professional, courteous, and did absolute great work. The gentleman was fantastic. He walked up, told me his name, shook my hand and told me he was here to check out my unit.     I had a leaking water heater so I went online on Thursday and made a service request with American Home Shield. The process is simple and you are walked through it. Their contractor, Kintex Plumbing, called me that day and told me they'd have to meet me on Friday to look at it. Their guy came out the next day and looked at the water heater. He diagnosed the issue, said he had to call American Home Shield for approval then he called me back to tell me that the request to put in a new water heater was approved. They would get the new one and they would be able to install it three days later. The plumber was Ike and he was a tremendous guy who did a really nice job. I’ve had American Home Shield for years. When we lived up north, I had it and just carried it forward when I moved down here. I always recommend them.

    I've heard good things about American Home Shield that's why we switched over. However, when the AC stopped working, it took a little bit of time for Absolute Paradise Cooling to come out. I'm in Texas so it was hot and no one showed up till the next day at about almost 24 hours later. But the the technician did a good job. He knew what he was talking about. He ended up coming out twice 'cause he did one remedy and then found out that something else was out.

    I contacted American Home Shield on Saturday and left a message with the answering service. They called me on Monday, and the first thing 8 o'clock on Tuesday, the technician was here and was done by 9:00. The fan on the AC wasn't working and we found out that it was the pump that needed to be replaced. The technician was able to replace it within the hour so that worked out great. American Home Shield was very quick and the gentleman was very nice. He just lives around the corner so it was convenient.

    I submit my claims online and that process with American Home Shield has been super simple. They get back to me the same day once I submit a claim. I'm down here in Panama City. And it was supposed to be Monday, and they called and I never could get to my phone, and so, I missed the 10-minute window. And so, they rescheduled for today. I got my roommate there, and he leaves for work at 1:30 and they just called me and told me that there's something wrong with the van, he's running behind, but he will be there. It will probably be after 12:00. So, I don't know if he's gonna be able to fix it today or not.

    I recently filed a claim for my AC which froze up. I went online and American Home Shield assigned me a different contractor than the previous one for the same problem. So, I called and they cancelled that one and redid it ‘cause I was gonna get charged for it. Express Comfort came the next day and their professionalism was great.     My AC unit went out right in the middle of a heat wave. So, we put in a claim with American Home Shield, and it was Affordable AC Company who came out. And the guy weighted my situation and determined that it was the blower motor issue inside the AC unit. So, they ordered the control board that controls motors. And when they got that, they brought it back out to install it. But when they did, it wasn’t blowing like it should, and it was not even close to what it used to. So, it took them a week and a half to figure that out. And this is like 15 days at this point in the heat wave that we were going through because we had to also put in a new work order when they had that issue to get them back out here to figure out what was going on.

    So, they had called the manufacturer and figured it out. He told me that it was kind of an ordeal with them and the manufacturer, trying to figure out exactly what was going on because the manufacturer said, “No, we programmed that for that unit.” And then, he said, “Well, it’s not working.” So, then, he asked the manufacturer some questions. And it was determined in conclusion that what had happened, he came back out to fix it. And it was determined that the previous folks that installed this unit had reversed the wheelhouse in there on the motor. And it was not done by specification. They also had installed some other part that’s not a certified Trane part as well, which was odd.

    The guy from Affordable AC brought the blower motor in the cage and all the parts to fix it to see if that was it. Sure enough, it was. And he resolved it and got it going. And I’ve never heard that machine or the AC unit blow as hard as it does now. So, it’s a lot better. I’m hoping that it helps with my electricity bill that I’ve been having to deal with for the last 15 years.

    The service worked out for us. The part of the process in dealing with that particular issue worked as best as it probably could have worked. It’s just AC’s in demand, especially in the middle of heat waves, and everybody's busy trying to fix other AC units. Those guys were working from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Every time he came here during the evenings, he was having to go to another call after me. And that was gonna take him until about 10:00 PM to fix those issues. So, it is part of the deal. But I’m very pleased with the outcome in my situation. For what they had to encounter, the unknown, someone actually installing the unit incorrectly, to begin with, and then fixing that was awesome to me. It’s how it worked out, so I would give that company a 10.

    And as far as working with the claim with American Home Shield, it was spot on. I really loved that tracker. That helped me stay calm because I was actually going, “Where the hell is this dude?” It was like 110 degrees. I had to go out and buy a window AC unit to help with that. But we at least survived it. It was not the worst case scenario I’ve heard from other friends. So, it all went well. I have recommended American Home Shield to a bunch of people.

    I had water from my air conditioner leaking throughout my basement and I went online to submit a claim with AHS. The process was pretty good and the techs from Pro Comfort Heating and Cooling came out three days later. I told them exactly where the leak was coming from and what I thought it was, but I didn’t know how to fix it, so they had to come out. And they did a good job. But I wish they would have come out sooner. I had some damage in the basement because of how long it took for them to come out. Other than that, the air conditioner has been performing well since the repair.

    American Home Shield originally provided somebody from South Placer Heating & Air Conditioning to come out to work on the air conditioning problem in Sacramento. But they couldn't fix it, and they were supposed to send in a report that day. I called American Home Shield and communicated with them three or four times.     I just moved into the house and I needed rekeying. I submitted a claim with AHS then R&R Rekey & Locksmithing came out. They were great but some of the locks were not rekeyed because they weren’t rekeyable. So, I ended up paying more than I thought I would pay. I thought I was gonna pay $75 to have everything rekeyed but since there were some that were not rekeyable, the work that was done on them was not covered. It seemed to me like that should have been covered, but apparently, it wasn’t. Other than that, the locksmith company came ahead, did all the locks, and they were amazing. In fact, their tech had to come up with a couple of innovative solutions and he worked with his distributor or somebody at his company to get some additional parts for me. And he definitely went the extra mile.

    Aside from that claim, I’ve also used my AHS warranty a couple of times. I had a wobbly toilet where there was a disintegrating wax ring, so they had a plumber come out and take care of that. Then I had a garbage disposal issue and I also used the warranty on that. I also used AHS when I had a house in Dallas and I was happy with them. Whenever I have a claim, the techs get out either the same day or next day, and the problems get taken care of. So, I’m gonna continue after the first year. I feel good having a home warranty, too.

    When I call American Home Shield, their reps are so respective. They treat me like I'm their only customer. One afternoon, I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a water heater issue. AHS head to get someone and they found Pruitt's Plumbing. They were around in 24 hours but then their tech had to drive up from Lake Havasu which was ways away. Still, they had the issue fixed within half an hour.

    That Friday, we had called for the plumber but then we found out that my electrical was messed up going into the water heater and it burnt out a thing in my panel outside. The plumber from Pruitt's called and arranged for an electrician to come out. He was was here within an hour and a half and they had that problem resolved too. The following Monday, they came back at 7 in the morning to replace the box outside. The company AHS got is really good. It was truly amazing how quickly everything got done. Overall, I had an awesome experience with AHS. They have taken care of me every time I've used them.

    Recently, I had a leak and American Home Shield sent Medallion Plumbing. They said the leak source was the water heater which they replaced. But then we figured out that this wasn't the only case. There was another leak so we called the AC company. They came but didn't fix the issue. My interactions with AHS have been good except when they scheduled the AC's checkup. I looked at the internet and saw the bad reviews on the company. I asked beforehand to switch the company to another one and I was rejected. Until they will fail to fix the issue, then they will replace them. This was a little disappointing and I knew beforehand that they will not fix the issue. Now, we still have a leak. I'm very dissatisfied with AHS. They should pick better contractors.

    I called American Home Shield regarding air conditioning two weeks ago. There was a language barrier with the rep that I talked to and I had to speak to a supervisor so I could make myself clear. The supervisor was good and had Platinum out the next day. Platinum didn't really do anything. When I saw water leaking and I asked for them to come back, they said they would not be able to be back for eight days. I called American Home Shield and then ended up speaking to a supervisor who I was told would work on it. I got a text from American Home Shield indicating Platinum would be in touch with me in 24 hours sometime last week and Platinum didn't call until Monday. At that point, I spoke to the American Home Shield rep and they got a different person out.

    In the meantime, the supervisor that I spoke to last week sent a plumber out because there was a water issue. When the plumber came out, he said it was an air conditioning problem so he wasn't able to do anything. He would send a water eradication guy and said he would call the supervisor to let her know that it was an air conditioning issue and not plumbing. The water eradication guy came out and said he can't do anything unless he removed the unit and that was all last week. I did not hear back from the supervisor. When I spoke to the rep yesterday, Platinum was scheduled to come today but I said that I don't have much faith in their ability so she was able to find Superior. Superior came out this morning. The rep said she canceled Platinum. I got a phone call and I confirmed that I was canceling Platinum. Platinum showed up also this morning so I told Platinum they weren't needed.

    The Superior air conditioning guy did a lot of work. He looked at different things. He flushed out a line and looked at the filters. That all seemed good. Then when I went out to the garage, I'm having the same flooding issue. The water is seeping from under the wall into the garage and I can see it's going all along the built-in shelves which are made out of wood. It's not hurting the garage floor, but my biggest concern is that there is mold in there because the unit is in a box effectively. It's a niche in the wall. The board on the bottom that this unit sits on is soaked, but the water is coming from underneath, which tells me this board is totally soaked too, and this has now been going on for over a week. I called Superior back and I'm waiting for them to contact me.

I initially submitted the claim online and the tech came out and said everything was fine. But it wasn’t fine so I had to call back and they sent a tech out again. The tech said nothing was wrong the first time he came out, so that wasn’t great. Then he came back out and said, “Actually, something’s wrong. I told you this has Freon but it doesn’t have Freon. It needs more.” That was a little frustrating. He was just out yesterday and the air conditioner is all good so far.

    I replaced a request for service to a cooktop where the Glass top split. I asked before scheduling if a crack in the glass top would be covered because I didn’t want to pay a service charge for nothing. The appliance was still working and I was unsure they would cover the split glass. The glass split while cleaning the top. Nothing was dropped on it, which is what the contracted party claimed as their diagnosis. I’m upset because #1, that is not what happened. #2 I wouldn’t have wasted my money-which is why I checked to see if it would be covered before paying the service fee. I think AHS should pay for a second opinion or refund my service charge. I’ve used them on several other things and not had problems like I did today.

    Updated on 08/05/2019: So again, there is no solution and I wasted my time calling you guys because now they are saying I have to have my problem transferred to the Appliance department because the plumber said it’s not a plumbing or water issue. It’s something wrong with the dishwasher. 5 technicians already! Time wasted off work! Because you guys can’t just replace my dishwasher and keep sending technicians! The spot that you see that is cleaned is to show that the residue always reappears even after cleaning the inside of the tub. Again I have pictures to prove that there has been no solution and they are just transferring things back and forth wasting my valuable time from work and getting paid.

    Original review: This is by far one of the worst experiences ever! 4 dishwasher techs cant figure out what the issue. The last tech is referring the issue to a plumber. I've been on hold several times for hours, many times! They say a supervisor will call me back and that never happens, and if I do talk to a supervisor the hold time is over an hour or the rep does whatever they can to not send it to a supervisor. The two times I did talk to a supervisor they offered no solution but to send another tech over!!

    I put a claim into AHS on 7/17/19. They gave me a company that was out of business. I called AHS on 7/18/19 and they gave me another company and they came out on 7/22/19 and told me that I need an evaporator coil and freon. Then the company called AHS and told them that I needed more than that and AHS denied the claim. I called AHS on 7/22/19 and requested an itemized list on the things that were needed and as of today 7/31/19 I have not received this list and I call every day and they keep telling me that someone would get back to me. And nobody gets back to me. What should I do?

    Updated on 12/31/2019: Our oven stopped working on Friday the 20th of December. Somewhat inconvenient timing with family coming to town for the holidays. Due to past experiences we know that the company they put in a service request to has 24-48 hours to contact us to set up an appointment. Since our request was put in Friday evening, that basically meant end of day on Christmas Eve. So I talked to American Home Shield and informed them of the situation, with family coming in from out of town to have Christmas at our house. They left a message with the company to have them set up the appointment ASAP.

    On Tuesday afternoon I called the company wondering why I hadn't heard from them. They informed me that we were out of their service area and that they had already returned the service request to American Home Shield. When I called American Home Shield to find out what was going on, they confirmed that the company had returned the service request to them. When I asked them who the new company was that they had forwarded the request to, they had not forwarded the service request to anyone, nor contacted me about this. This left us without even a phone call from anyone for 4 days, and without an oven the day before Christmas.

    They tried to remedy the situation by calling out to different companies trying to get someone out to see us. The earliest appointment was scheduled for Friday the 27th. The tech came out, confirmed that a fuse had blown for our oven (same problem we had three months ago which took a month to get repaired), ordered the fuse and scheduled a follow up appointment to replace the fuse. The earliest appointment available was for Monday January 6th. That's 17 days without an oven (assuming it gets repaired on that date).

    For a family that cooks all of our meals at home, this is painfully inconvenient and not at all what I expect out of any company. If I had not paid for a year worth of coverage with American Home Shield, I would not be using their services and am bewildered as to why I'm paying the service fees for such an absence of service. This is the second time we have had to use our home warranty through American Home Shield, for the exact same issue, and they have proved to us for the second time, that they do not deserve to have us as customers.

    Original Review: I put in a service request for an oven that won't heat up on Friday July 26th in the morning. I was told that the company they contracted had until Monday close of business to contact me to schedule an appointment and that if they weren't able to get out by Tuesday, I should call American Home Shield to get a different contractor out there sooner. I never received a call from that company who claimed AHS had given them my number incorrectly, so they told me to wait another 24 hours now that they had the correct phone number. Still received no call.

    So the next day I called AHS who assigned me a new contractor. I received a call from that company the next morning who informed me that they wouldn't be able to get out to me any time that week and that they were putting in a request to change vendors. I called back to AHS who said they would call all of their vendors to see who could get out to me soonest. The soonest appointment they could get for me was for August 5th, 10 days after I submitted my request for service. A ten day response to a service request to me is completely unreasonable and AHS has done nothing to improve the situation for me.

    I placed a service call for my very noisy refrigerator. My first company never came out to look at my appliance and so I had to call back in and sit on hold to get another company assigned. Once a new company was assigned and they came to my house I made them aware of noises it was making. They told me that the compressor and ice maker would need replaced and are going to die soon.

    The appliance is still in working order, but the noises are irritating. I had to unplug my ice maker. It is so loud. AHS denied my request for replacements because the parts are not mechanically failed. AHS would rather my refrigerator go down and ruin all my food before fixing my issue. I have called on several occasions wasting a lot of my time and no one will help me. I found it very ridiculous that this company would do this. I would give them negative stars if I could.

    I reported a water heater leak issue on July 22, 2019. After (3)30 minutes calls and (1) no call, no show from one of their contractors, 5 days later(July 27, 2019) they were finally able to get someone to come over to get check the water heater. During the visit, the contractor told me that they needed to replace the water heater which it was no big deal since it's covered under the warranty and they told me that AHS would be contacting me within 24 hours. 24 hours went by and no call from AHS.

    On July 30, 2019, I decided to call the contractor to get an update on the service request and I was told that they were waiting on AHS to contact me to inform me that there will be a $525 fee to replace water heater. I was kind of surprised about the $525 fee, specially since a water heater was covered under the warranty and a water heater replacement cost average about $800 in the area. So, I decided to call AHS to get a confirmation on the fee. After spending almost 2.5 hours on the phone with them they were able confirm that there was a fee but nobody could really explain what was the fee for when the water heater is covered by the warranty.

    Long story short, 9 days later the water heater still not replaced. And if they ever replaced it will cost me $699.99 (monthly fee: $49.99 Call service Fee: $125 Contractor service fee: $525) plus the 4.5 hours spent on the phone and 9 days of ice cold showers. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company unless you're ready for a pointless and stressful ride.

    One time, when I turned my air conditioning unit on, it was blowing warm air. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and their reps told me within 48 hours, I would be contacted by a contractor. Bennett Heat & Air Electrical came out and checked what they needed to check. They asked me what the problem was and they told me after they got through that I shouldn't have any more problems with my unit. Since then, everything has been operating fine and I was satisfied. Overall, I had a good experience with AHS.

    I had two different faucets that had issues. When you turned one of the faucets in the basement bathroom, the whole faucet turned but it didn’t turn on. You had to hold it at the base with a tool to steady it. Then the faucet in the kitchen sink was loose. I submitted a claim with AHS for that then they sent out My Georgia Plumber and they fixed the issues. But right now, I have a problem with two hot water heaters in the basement and if there’s ever a problem with the hot water heaters, I won't be able to turn the shutoff valves. I also submitted a claim with AHS to have that fixed and a tech came out. He sent me a bid to replace all the hot water heaters but I don’t think the hot water heaters need to be replaced. It’s just the shutoff valves need to be fixed. That was over the week of the Fourth of July and at this point, I'm still waiting for AHS to tell me what will happen next.

    Other than that, I had two other claims which were both related to HVAC. On one of them, the techs came out the week of the Fourth of July as well and it was for the basement unit that had a leak in it. That unit was replaced on Saturday under the warranty but there were two compliant changes that I was required to pay for, as well as the additional Freon that AHS doesn’t cover. Then, I had the unit in the attic which wasn’t cooling very well. The techs also came out and checked that. They determined it was the attic fan that wasn’t operating properly, so I had that replaced by an electrician because that’s outside the warranty. And it seems to be operating with no problems now.

    I had excellent experiences with the contractors who came out. Bestway Mechanical was the vendor used for the HVAC, while two different technicians came out for the two different claims. They were very professional and prompt. I asked a lot of questions when they came in but they took the time to answer them and showed me how things were working. I didn’t just take their word for things. They showed me on gauges and we went over all the work that they did. I even hired one of them to do my semi-annual preventative maintenance on all three units.

    I don’t feel that I’m getting what I’m paying for. I’m with American Home Shield for as long as I have been living here which is 19 years. My hot water heater broke, and all American Home Shield came up with was like $300 and I had to fork out the other $807 out of my pocket. I feel like I’m just giving them all my money for nothing. When there's a problem and I call, I have to pay the deductible first which I understand. But should I have to cover the cost of the item to myself? No. So, right now I’m really contemplating whether I should keep it or I should just cancel them.

    I have recommended a lot of people to American Home Shield but ever since that, when I see that I’m paying my fee every month and I still had to come up with money out of my pocket, I stopped recommending people. I should not have to be coming up with so much money out of my pocket because the reason why I took that insurance was because I didn't want that. But I’m getting the same thing that I didn't want. I have to pay out of my pocket, and it’s more than American Home Shield paid. If my monthly payment is $50, for a whole year, that could be $600. I’m with American Home Shield from year 2000. How many claims have I put in? A whole year will pass and I haven't even put in a claim. Then when I put in a claim, I still have to come up with money from my pocket. I don't think that is right. And when I inquired about these and found out how much they were, it wasn’t even half of what I paid.

    I've never had any problem with American Home Shield and I recommended them to somebody last night. Filing a claim with them is easy and they get someone out as soon as possible. I've been dealing with Universal Appliances for a while now. All of a sudden, after all of these years, everything wanna break at one time. The guy from Universal Appliances had tried to fix the microwave once but the fan still isn't working and it doesn't always get stuff hot. It works when it wants to.

    The guy did the best he could 'cause he was working on the washer and the microwave at that time. The washer eventually had to be replaced. But the microwave, he's still working on now. I'm waiting for him to get the parts he needs and come back. When the air conditioner went out Sunday before last, the next evening, the man was out here to fix it. The only thing I didn't like about that is the refrigerated stuff is so high. American Home Shield only paid $10 for it and it's $110 a pound. I needed six and a half pounds. By the grace of god, I had that money.

    American Home Shield had to replace the vent fan in the bathroom upstairs. We did the claim over the phone, and the rep we spoke with was wonderful. American Home Shield is okay. The only thing I don’t like about it is you’re dumped into a system where it’s voice messaging. Then, they keep asking you the same question over again, and they’re still not giving you the option that you need. And if you say what the problem is, if they don’t have that in their system, it doesn’t recognize what you’re talking about. And then it takes a minute to get to a live person. My computer does not work all the time. But when I go online, I have a problem with it. It probably needs to update. Other than that, I'm happy with the experience.

    I logged an issue with my fridge and then an issue with my dishwasher. Two different guys came out, one specialized in fridges and the other specialized in dishwashers. Both of them were really awesome. When the fridge guy came out, the problem was very obvious to him. It was more about us being able to thaw the fridge out. And then he did like a physical for the fridge and he walked me through what he was seeing. He also gave me some tips on how to improve the efficiency, so that was really cool.

    And then, the dishwasher guy was able to identify the problem really quick because he had seen it a lot. He had the part with him. He replaced it during the same visit, made sure that the other components were working, and then made sure that some problem areas that he knew about were okay. He also walked me through the best way to load it, and then gave me tips me on what dishwashing soap to use best with the model that we have, and then he was on his way. So, overall, with both guys, I had a really awesome experience. I did the claim with American Home Shield online, and I was surprised that I could add another appliance to the same claim. It was a super easy process.

I did it online and their website was very easy to use. The person that contacted me was very polite, very business-like, and she got the job done. And DeHart called me the next day and was out that same day to try and fix the garbage disposal. He couldn't get it working either, so he replaced the garbage disposal.     Our garbage disposal was leaking and my husband submitted the claim online. The contractors were wonderful because we got everything set up. They tried to get out earlier and they weren’t able to do it. They tried to get out in the same week. They promised me that if they got an earlier slot, they were gonna come Monday afternoon and they would call back. I thought it was not gonna happen but they actually did. They called me early on Monday morning and they were able to come out four hours earlier than what was really anticipated which was great. They were out by noontime on Monday instead of late on Monday afternoon which made my 20-something-year-old who was sitting at home on his phone, waiting around, really happy ‘cause he and the girlfriend had plans. I’m thoroughly pleased with my experience. It was easy and it went surprisingly well.

    I said to my husband ‘cause I know it can’t be fixed, “If they don’t just replace this, I’m done. You cancel it now.” And when my kid called me that we have a new garbage disposal, I thought it was good. They knew what they were doing. They came with it and didn’t even ask any questions. The guy just came in and went to work. And I didn’t even have to do it which is even better. That was the best part. I have friends who have homeowners warranties and they’re a nightmare. I listen to them all complaining. But this experience with American Home Shield was such a delight. This was wonderful.

    Our pool pump had gone out so I called AHS. We got everything set up. They told me, “Here is a company called C&J.” They came out and looked at it. Pool pump was out so we ordered a pool pump. They sent this guy. To remove and replace a pool pump is usually two hours, tops. But this guy that they sent was here for three days, nine hours a day and he had all of my pool equipment taken apart and it was all on the ground for three days. I asked the guy, “Have you ever done this before?” He said, “No, I haven’t.” I said, “So they sent you to my house not being an experienced pool guy. Now you can’t put anything back together.”

    He said he got to call his boss. So the boss came out. The boss helped him put everything back together. For some reason, he even had my filter out. And my pool guy had just cleaned the filter for me. All of a sudden, he said the pool filter was broken. I was like, "My pool guy is really good. if there’s anything wrong, he’ll say, this is wrong. You gotta have that fixed.” So they finally put it back together and the pump was actually sucking air. I was calling and calling and I kept telling them it was still sucking air. He was all like, “it’s gonna take time.” I said, “No. It’s not. It’s sucking air. That’s not gonna go away.” I said, "I’m not a stupid woman so please don’t play me like that. You’re gonna tell me that if something’s not running 100%, that it’s not gonna damage something else? I don’t get that.” And I’ve worked on cars and we have motorcycles, so I’m not ignorant in that type of scenario.

    So then he came back out and he stuck some wooden sticks underneath the pool pump and he said, “By raising this, it should let the rings seat.” I looked at him and I said, “I’m not understanding. What are you talking about?” He said, “Trust me.” So I said okay. I went ahead and let it go for a minute ‘cause I had all these other projects happening.

    I kept trying to call him. No response. I got really sick and tired of trying to call them, leaving 100,000 messages. Finally, the guy answered. I said, “I need somebody out here to fix the mistake that your company made.” He just went off and he was like, “We didn’t make a mistake!” I said, ”You did. Everything was working perfectly except the pump before you guys got in here.” He said they'd be back out. So I waited another week. Nothing. No phone call. A month and a half went by. So I finally called American Home Shield. And then they promised that they would take off the $75 because of this ridiculously horrible experience.

    So then the woman called me back and she said, "This is C&J. We’d like to make an appointment for our guys to come back out and fix your pool but it’s gonna cost...” I said, “I’ve already called American Home Shield because you guys would not have returned my call unless they called you. You were supposed to call me back in 24 hours.” She said, “24 hours? I thought it was 48 to 72 hours.” I said, “No. 24. You’re the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. You guys ought to be ashamed of yourself. You’re putting your employees out there to go to people’s homes that don’t know what they’re doing.” And they knew this whole scenario.

    I said I will never ever recommend them. I’m taking them off my list. So Merced came out. They had it removed and replaced in an hour and a half. The guy turned around and he said, “I took all the wooden shims out.” And to find out C&J tried to give me a refurbished motor instead of a brand new one. They never said anything a refurbished one.

    But all in all, American Home Shield, they do pretty well. There had been a couple of times where I got a little bit upset because a lot of their staff is outsourced. There is a communication problem with that a lot of times. They don’t quite understand what I need or what I'm calling for, which makes it really hard for the customers. When I first got AHS, they were on it. Now, because of the outsourcing, that communication gap sometimes interferes with the actual customer service and getting the problem taken care of. This last problem with C&J, I had to talk to a supervisor because they couldn’t understand that this company is not working.

    I used to be able to call AHS up and say, “Is this covered?” The girl would go through my contract and tell me yes or no. I’m afraid to do that now because the last time I asked them about a pool sweep, it was horrible. The guy said yes, it was covered and then I found out weeks later that it was only the pool sweep motor, not the whole actual pool sweep. I couldn’t get the understanding from them because they kept saying, “Yes, it’s covered.” Then I had one person saying no, it’s only the motor. But I love American Home Shield. They have been there. I’ve had them forever since 2012 when I first bought the house, and they have done a really good job at everything. They were supposed to credit the account the $75 for the whole C&J thing. That’s the big promise but it still hasn’t hit my husband’s account.

    I received a totally outstanding service from AHS. I had a water leak and I had a $960 water bill. I called American Home Shield and my experience with their rep was excellent. They assigned Mr. Clean Drain to my claim and they said they would call within two days. Then I had the phone number and I called it. The owner picked up and he said he'd have somebody out here the next day. I'd give their service a 10-plus and since the repair, everything has been functioning greatly. All in all, I'd recommend AHS. They didn’t use to be good 15 years ago, but in the last five years, there’s no one better.

    I have a hard time understanding most of the American Home Shield claims reps that answer the phone. I’ve had an East Indian and an Asian, and they have a strong accent. I work with a lot of Asian and East Indian doctors, so I know you have to try to get them to slow down a little bit. I’ve had a lot of interactions with their reps. I’m usually on hold for a good 30 to 45 minutes each time I call, which has been several times on Monday, Tuesday, and today. There were a lot of times the line just cuts off, and that was not fun. I’ve spent three days, off and on the phone, and on hold, and I've gone through this each day. I even called the plumber and their secretary submitted it numerous times, and it stays in some department that says she didn’t. And then it doesn’t show up, but it’s been submitted.

    The plumber would come out, and we thought the problem was fixed, but it wasn’t. That has been the issue. When I called the plumber last time, I didn't realize that I was supposed to call American Home Shield first. But they came out and I had to pay them $115 because I didn't go through American Home Shield. I'm dissatisfied with American Home Shield. They always say that they're gonna call me back, but I've waited for three days and they never did. I’ve had a really rough time getting anything done. And I’ve been trying for days. I work in an intensive care unit and I can’t even use my washing machine, and this has been a two-week ordeal. I’ve been washing my scrubs in the sink. They need to get cleaner than that. There’s no telling what I’m gonna get into.

    My garbage disposal went out and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Their process was easy. I explained the issue to their contractor on the phone. I told them it looked like it was leaking out the bottom and that it may need to be replaced. The contractor was out the next morning.     I had a couple of water closets that were running and weren’t stopping. I went online and put the order in with American Home Shield. And that was on a Sunday. Then on Monday, B & L Plumbing Service called me, and they were able to come out about five days later based on the schedule. They did fix the toilets but during the process of fixing the toilets, we had to turn the water valve off inside the house. That developed a little bit of a leak. So, then I had to call American Home Shield back to get the order updated to include the water valve turn off. That took about 10 minutes. But it got upgraded, and then the company was notified, and they were able to fix the water valve that became a problem when we turned the water off to fix the toilets. So, everything went according to plan.

    The person that was doing the work kept me abreast of what was going on and told me about the way the contract works. I had to call back in to get service to be allowed for that water valve turn off, and it was taken care of. I went online when I filed my claim. And I was gonna call, but American Home Shield changed the website where I could pick how many toilets have issues. So, I went online, clicked on the toilets section, and then it came up with a pop-up where I typed in the number of my request, which was good. I was able to put two of them when I hit "submit the service request." And that information got sent over to the company that was doing the work. And they confirmed how many toilets I was talking about. We confirmed the two. And then when the guy showed up, he said, “Okay, I’m here for two. Direct me in the right direction.”

    I’ve been satisfied with American Home Shield. The only thing is if the technician comes out to fix the toilets, and it requires turning the water off inside the house, and it’s then determined that that is leaking, but it wasn’t leaking before he got here, it should be somewhere in the contract that they could fix that without having to go through the hassle of calling American Home Shield back up and getting the service request upgraded to include that. What if, as we were turning that water valve off, that water valve snapped and started leaking significant amounts of water? Would he not be allowed to fix under the warranty before I got permission? It should automatically be covered and fixed, instead of having to go through the process of calling American Home Shield, waiting on hold, finally getting through, them putting me back on hold while they called the company that’s doing the work to be able to get approval to fix it.

    There was a noise from my AC and I was worried that something was gonna break on it. I had an issue the first three or four times I called American Home Shield because the people I'd called to see if they use AHS that were around here, gave me the exact same phone numbers. I had to ask two separate times to talk to a supervisor to be able to find me somebody to come out. It took me a week and a half to hear back from AHS. I live out in the middle of nowhere so I understand where it could be somewhat of an issue, but not a week and a half worth of delay. When the contractor came out, they found out it was the vent underneath the house that was flexing and it was causing a thumping. It wound up turning out there was nothing wrong with the actual AC system. They were great. I'd already talked myself into getting the maintenance thing done and they said that I don’t need any of that so they were pretty helpful.

    I filed a claim over the phone with American Home Shield and the rep who assisted me in setting everything up was perfect. She did exactly what she was supposed to do. The contractors came out in a couple of days which was timely. There were three different guys 'cause they had to come out three different times. The first time, the guy just diagnosed the problem and he said he had to buy some parts. I went out of town for a couple of weeks so they came back when I got back. We discovered that the first guy didn't quite diagnose the problem correctly so we had to buy some additional parts. Subsequently, a third guy came out and got that done quickly and correctly.

    I was pleased overall with how everything went and I'm not faulting the guy. I could still use the appliance but it just made some noise. Since this dryer is probably 25 years, it's on a very borrowed time and I figured it might be something kinda complex, and it was. I'm satisfied with my experience with American Home Shield and I'd like to have Miller Appliance come again if we needed them. I was happy.

    I usually call American Home Shield when I submit claims. The reps at AHS have been very helpful and all of them have been very cordial. Although, I was kinda short with one of their reps because she was saying that the sink strainer is not covered, which didn't make sense, but it was not her problem. She was just telling me what she was supposed to say.

    OZ Electrical did my fans and they were fabulous. I called AHS for another claim, and I had my dishwasher and my icemaker didn't work. So, another contractor came and ordered parts of the dishwasher and icemaker. I had to leave and he called me about a month ago and said the parts were in. I said, “Good. It’s a rental property. They said they work with you guys all the time, and just call them and they’ll tell you when the house is open, and you can go in.” It’s on a beach and it’s a vacation property.

    I thought it was all done. I’m like, “This is awesome.” But I got a call yesterday, said, “Your parts are still here.” I’m like, “What? I thought it was done.” I didn't follow up.     Our AC was not turning on. And it was like 85 in the house at night. I went online to file a service request with American Home Shield. So, I had someone call me within an hour or two of filing, and then Air Doctor AC was out the next day. The gentleman who came out was very knowledgeable. And he fixed the problem within 15 minutes immediately. When he came in, he pretty much knew what was wrong. My only complaint with it was that I had someone out previously for the AC, but I was like a week past their 60-day mark. So, I had to file a completely new claim for the same exact thing. Overall, I’ve had a good experience with American Home Shield. Every time I call, someone comes out and the problem typically gets solved and within a very reasonable amount of time.

    I do everything online when I make claims with American Home Shield. You just click “What do you need?” And you go order a home service. You click on home service then tell them what appliance is messed up. You give them a number to call and usually, within 24 hours they have already scheduled an appointment. You get an email like, “TrueAir will be out there Wednesday at such and such a time.” It's very simple.

    I placed a claim with American Home Shield when my air conditioner was not cooling as it was toasted and I had to get a new one. Within a couple of days, someone from TrueAir Solutions came. They had to order my unit and that wasn’t a problem because we have two units. They put the order in for Tuesday and they replaced it on Monday. I like my new unit. It’s cooling. We’ve had American Home Shield for 15 years off and on. Aside from my air conditioner, they've also replaced an oven and a dishwasher.

    We had an issue with my air conditioning and we called the American Home Shield people. They took my information and told me Rice Heating & Air Conditioning would be getting in touch with me. I ended up calling Rice. We need to get an easier one as the one I have jumps around and caused my air conditioning to keep running. The house didn't seem cool and when Rice came out, the unit was frozen and we had to put the thermostat on the fan. 12 hours or so later, they came out again and they had to put Freon in the unit.     I am not very happy about a lot of things with Express Appliances Services. The refrigerator problem is still not resolved. The first time we had requested to American Home Shield was in May, and that time, this refrigerator was completely out of order. They said they were very busy and it went on for one week. Then, the first guy came in and he said he would order the parts. So we waited for the parts. Apparently, nobody ordered the parts. He said the compressor is broken. Then the company says he is not certified to come in and order the parts. So they sent another guy. Another guy came and he confirmed that there is a problem with the compressor. He said, “You have to wait ‘til the order comes in.” It took almost more than two weeks. By this time, we are without refrigerator and all the food was rotten and spoiled.

    Then the compressor came in. We called Express Appliances and told them that the compressor has come in and they could come and fix the refrigerator. They came in. And then the compressor was somehow making lot of noise. If you are outside my home, it’s like a truck. So that was not fixed. So we called them back again. I said, “You know, luckily, I’m so happy that American Home Shield has a facility where ongoing problem, then I don’t have to pay you.” I called them again. They said I had to call American Home Shield.

    So I went through their process. I knew that for the same problem, we can continue on the website. So I requested the service. They came in and said, “There is a loose screw inside the compressor.” Still, after a few days, we watched that the milk is getting rotten every day. We changed the company of the milk brand, and still the problem was that three days, the whole bottle of milk gets rotten and some vegetables, too. We called again and I requested. It has to go through American Home Shield. I was almost going to write a very bad letter. Still the problem is not solved. The latest guy came two days back and he said that the filter is broken. I said, “Listen, you guys are here for seven times by this and nobody can tell me that the filter was broken from day one?” Now, they had ordered the part for filter. I’m still waiting for filter.

    I’m so upset. I think they are very busy, or they are very unorganized. They are professional and friendly, but very unorganized. The one guy doesn’t know what the last guy has done. And the most bad part is their front office service. They don’t call you back. If I call today, they will say, “Oh, somebody will call you. We cannot take any of the complaint or order.”

    Every time I try to call American Home Shield, I’m almost on the waiting line for 30 minutes. That’s why I don’t call American Home Shield. I was going to write them a letter, but if you look at their website, there is no place, an address, of American Home Shield, where they are existing. I filed the claim online with American Home Shield. I went into the “refrigerators”. And then the first time, they initiated the claim. And then whenever I had a problem, I went on the line and when I click “refrigerator”, then it says, “Is it ongoing problem?” I said, “Yes.” And then I wrote whatever had to be done. But the contractor never called. I had to call them to say, “Listen, there is a ongoing problem.” Then they will say, “So we will call you. We are very busy.”

    Now, inside the refrigerator, it freezes and it makes the whole wall of the refrigerator full of ice. They say it is because the filter is not working. American Home Shield should do something about this company. I don’t think they know what they are doing. Still, while I’m very unhappy with Express Appliances, I’m extremely happy with American Home Shield. They're trying their best to provide the service. I had a problem previously, and it was handled very well.

    After the third attempt by the repairman to resolve the issue with my clothes washer he notified myself and American Home Shield that it was un-repairable. This was on June 7, 2019. I have made 6 phone calls and two online chats over a 2 month period, all to no avail. The reps all claim to have it taken care of and that I will get a resolution in a day or two.... Well, it has now been 2-1/2 months without a washer! I have had an AHS warranty on various homes for years, now after years of premiums and only a few service calls over the years it is apparent they do not abide by their contract terms. At this point my intention it to take them to court. BAD, STAY AWAY. It is better to spend $600/year and get a new appliance each year than to play with these bozos. Good luck.

    AC went out on 7/15/19. Tech came out two days later to say “the unit is fine, it’s just hot outside.” But that was only after working on the second unit for almost 30 minutes first. Asked for another tech so two days later he says the unit is old and needs to be replaced (which is probably true). No word from AHS so again I called them to ask for next steps only to be told they only accepted the report from the first tech and that a second opinion was required, really?? 3rd tech arrives and every thing needs to be replaced (compressor, coil, etc.). They will replace the parts at a charge of $1,100 to us! I pay for the “extra” package and yet they are paying $700 while we have to shell out $1,100, what EXACTLY does this warranty cover???? Here are my concerns:

    1.I called almost every other day for 15 days, I would ask to speak to a Supervisor and one was never available after leaving me on hold for at least 20 minutes every single time.
    2. I was promised a callback for Sup calls or follow up calls that NEVER happened. Every call was initiated by myself or my husband every single time.
    3. They do not care, we are in the middle of a heatwave in N.C. and it’s as hot inside as it is outside.
    4. We’re paying for fast food for two weeks because it’s too hot to use the stove or the dryer.

    5. Your “scripted” concern at the start of the call is bull, you could care less about the impact that your ‘customer service’ has on your customers.

    I will receive this last service and I will drop your ** and go to your competitor.

    I have been an AHS customer since 2015. I submitted a service request on July 9, 2019 for my central air conditioning. On July 17, 2019 a technician finally showed up to check my system and determined the compressor on my outside unit is bad. As of today, July 30, 2019, I still do not have air conditioning and I live in South Louisiana. This is the absolute worst example of customer service I have ever experienced. I will not be renewing my contract with AHS.

    My ordeal started last summer when I started making calls in June regarding an AC repair that was not completed until September!!! I contacted the AHS warranty company, reported the issue. They connected me with a repair company, that never showed up the first time, and showed up 2 hrs late on the rescheduled appt. The repairman came and attempted to repair a part, that he realized AFTER installing was defective. He had to come back again, it's at this time they determined the unit was not repairable, and needed to be replaced. I had to pay for a new unit....fast forward to this year - 10 months into having an "alleged new unit" I'm having the same issue with the same part (coil) and now is leaking freon, thus the reason why my unit runs constantly and is not cooling. I spent 3 hours on the phone because I refused to hang up and believe they were going to call me back.

    I requested 4 times to be transferred to a more clear English speaking representative, as it was hard for me to understand him as he could not understand me either. Patrick informed "there was not a supervisor available", and placed me on hold for over an hour and a half (I have screenshots of how long the call took). He would come back to the line periodically to try and explain or tell me what I needed to do to get off the phone, as he continued to ignore my request to discontinue the conversation because I could not understand him. I finally spoke to a supervisor by the name of Daryl (still not clear English speaking but better, he also told me if I needed to call him back for anything just ask for him he didn’t have a direct number) who told me everything would be taken care of and he would waive the service fee...however there was already a credit on my acct for the service fee.

    After trying to get him to understand he was not doing a "favor" for me because they sent the service call to an entirely different company, besides the the company that installed the unit and the parts were under warranty with, I was escalated to another supervisor; Trish. I explained to her their mistake in referring the service call out to the wrong company. I inquired about compensation for the inconvenience, she stated "it was nothing she could do". I requested to speak to someone who could, she stated she would transfer me to customer service. I questioned if you are a top tier supervisor, you mean someone under you in customer service has more authority than you? She comes back on the line after a 29 min hold and agrees to place a credit for service call on my acct.

    When I called back an hour later after speaking to the company who actually installed the unit and requested to speak to Daryl, he was unable to be found, so I held for another supervisor, Ashley. I asked him to explain the benefits for me to maintain this policy as it appeared to be of no help to me but cause confusion and play the middle man. He provided somewhat of an explanation, nothing that convinced me to continue to waste my money on this policy. Needless to say, I am very much unsatisfied with the level of competence this company demonstrates and I'm over all the apologies. I'm even more upset the time I had to take to write this review which I'm sure won’t be posted for others to see.

    I have never gotten fast service. It takes 4 days to get anyone to come out for service. I am not sure how everyone else gets faster service, but I have never ever had that great experience. And when you call the phone number, you get the run around. I am currently trying to get the A/C fixed and it took days to get a technician out there and now a few more days to get it fixed. But wait, I can't get scheduled for the actual repair because the accounting department says they do not have the request yet the technician sent it in days ago. They do not know what the left hand is doing from the right.

    Had a recent issue with my HVAC system. After paying for the annual warranty ($620) plus the $75 service call fee, the HVAC service provider tells me that I have a freon refrigerant leak (need 4 lbs to recharge the system). The provider lets me know that AHS will only pay $10 per lb of freon, but their retail price is $100 per lb of freon. Well I do not think that I'm a retail customer, as I have a AHS warranty and this is the company that AHS set me up with after I paid them $75 for a service call. You would think that there would be a pre-negotiated rate for AHS customers for freon recharging, but you would be wrong. If you do a quick online search for "freon refrigerant", you will find that the wholesale price is $10 per lb. What value does a home warranty provide, if the home warranty contracted service provider still treats me as a full-price paying retail customer? It's a total scam.

    I had an AC issue and when I initially called American Home Shield, I had just found out from the news about Capital One and I was freaking out if my credit card info was also hacked. I called the overseas office and I if they could schedule the AC for me but I would call back to find a different way to pay because I was putting my credit card on hold. The three people I dealt with refused to do it. They said that I had to pay the service fee first. That day, it was like 113 degrees here in Arizona and I begged and begged but they could not do it. Long story short, I asked them to send me to the American office. In America, when I tell them it's 113 degrees, they will understand. If I tell them that Capital One has been hacked, they will understand. They can Google and find out that I'm not lying. So I was able to get sent to the US office and the people were able to help me until I was able to figure out about the payment.

    When you are calling and then you are two hours on hold because they don't wanna help you for $75, it is very disappointing. I understand the overseas people had to do their job but whenever it's the AC, I hope they can make an exception to allow people to schedule first. I was thinking it was $75 over somebody's life. Here in Arizona, all the people die because of the heat and it took me three days. If I ever leave Home Shield, it's gonna be because of the overseas office. Another thing is that when you call the overseas office phone, you can't hear them well because of the static. They keep cutting off. It's very hard for us to communicate on the phone with them, not because they did something wrong but because the towers are not allowing us to communicate.

    The AC guy who came out was very nice. He did all his work and told me that the issue was not the AC, but electrical. So he left. Then I was able to call the electrician and I really like the guy who came. I had been relieved when the AC guy came in but he left saying my breakers were gone and when I met the electrician at the door, I was freaking out. I told him I hope he was not gonna tell me it was something else. But he was so nice and professional. He said, "Well, let's take a look."

    He and I were standing out and then he said that he could see it. My breakers were not working. He fixed the two that were broken and I could tell that they were broken. Then he fixed another thing. It was like blown out. I was just right there and he was fantastic. And sure enough, from the time he left, I haven't had any issue. So not only did he fix what he was supposed to fix but he also checked to make sure that he was not gonna leave and then another one would go out. He checked each breaker and then the wires. He found that one wire was bad so he fixed it as well.

    On the other hand, I noticed that the first year I was with American Home Shield, the price was cheaper. Now, it's going up and up each year. They should stop adding prices each year. Otherwise, we're gonna go to the people who want us to become their customers. But the two American ladies in the office that I got were incredible. They were almost perfect, especially the second lady who scheduled the electrician for me. She was like a God-sent angel. Things have been going wrong but they were like, "Oh, okay, don't worry." When I called back to tell them what the AC guy had said, it was like, "Don't worry. We're gonna help you out." I really like the US office. Maybe they have more room to work with the client?

    I submit my claims with American Home Shield online. Sometimes, I do it over the phone and the AHS reps have been very nice. I’d meet the contractors sometimes because I don’t want them going to my house when I’m not there. I did a claim most recently for my air conditioner that quit working. I can’t find anything wrong. I had my outside unit replaced last year, and it took like a month to get it going. And, then it started working. They wouldn’t repair. They couldn’t get it to break.

    The AC unit that AHS replaced last year with a Goodman unit, and there was something faulty with the Goodman unit. So, they added a component on it that makes it start, but it doesn’t start all the time. Overall, AHS' response time is slower than it should be. And also, there are some contractors that AHS use that are below standard. Sometimes, I don’t ever wanna see them again. But then, they’ve got contractors that did a great job. I like the most recent contractors who came out.

    There was a time when our air conditioner was not blowing cold air. I submitted a claim via the internet to American Home Shield but then the initial contractor said that they sent said that they couldn't make it 'til 8 or 9 days later which was unacceptable. I called back and AHS found a different contractor, Air Doctor, who came out the next day. The tech knew exactly what was wrong with my air conditioner and fixed the problem within an hour or so. He replaced something too do with the compressor on the outside unit and so far, it has been working fine.

    I file my claims with American Home Shield online. The website is very user-friendly. I wish there was more area where you could ask questions or give feedback. But as far as submitting the claim, it’s very easy to do. AHS sends a text and tells you within 24 hours, if the contractor haven’t contacted you, you’re supposed to contact them. John T. Cannon Plumbing came out for a toilet problem I had. They had to come a couple times. The toilet wasn’t sitting securely on the floor, and it had black water coming out. And so, they had to change something that had corroded. Their service was very good. They’re very responsive and very fast to get out, and they were really professional.

    Right now, I’m frustrated. I’m currently three weeks in with no air conditioning. I submitted a claim on a Sunday, and then they gave me a name of the contractor, and the contractor couldn’t come out to my house until Thursday. Then, when they got out here, they said the compressor’s broken and it needed to be replaced. And so, they submitted it. Then American Home Shield contacted them about a couple more things, questioning it. So, I found out that American Home Shield actually orders the parts and sends it to the contractor.

    As of yesterday, the contractor still hadn’t received the part, and then when you call American Home Shield, you have a person that has broken English trying to explain to you. And they have a very canned response to you, “Oh, I’m very sorry for your inconvenience. I know this is the problem, I will take care of it.” But they don’t take care of it. Three weeks without an air conditioner in the middle of the summer with lung problems is too much. I’m very unhappy right now with the way this whole air conditioner has been handled.

    Our AC unit was not working. I called American Home Shield and they got me in touch with somebody who came to my house and fixed it. The contractor was very nice and knowledgeable. He ordered parts, but the wrong part was sent so he had to reorder it and then we scheduled another appointment for him to replace it. It took about a month but I was on vacation in the middle of that. So far it is working now. I’m not sure about the heater because it’s just too hot so we'll see, but it’s good.

    I submit claims for service over the phone but I really don't like the representatives in many instances because there's often a language barrier and you're trying to understand what's going on. On at least three different calls that we made, we couldn't understand who was asking us the question. On top of that, I don't feel that they ask enough questions. In one of the calls, we kept trying to call the plumbing and when we paid the $125 to have the plumber come out, we found out that American Home Shield does not cover plumbing if they have to snake your drain by going to the roof. They should have asked how we do our drains – in the yard or on the roof. So we had to do that $125 because the people came out and we still had to pay a regular plumber.

    On the other hand, I'm very pleased with the technician for the air conditioner. When I called him out, he contacted me and let me know he was coming. He was the same one who had been out for the air conditioner before. So I was pleased that it was the same technician for the same service because I knew he was aware of the problem. But I'm not sure that I'm gonna renew the American Home Shield contract.

    The garbage disposal failed. It crapped out and it was leaking out of the bottom. The reps of AHS were very helpful when I submitted a claim. The contractor who came was fine. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly, and he had everything that he needed to replace the garbage disposal. So, he did it pretty quickly within like an hour. He put in a new disposal, and I haven’t had any problems with the new disposal.

    My fan in my Sub-Zero had gone out and it was not cooling properly in the freezer side. The ice cream was getting a little soft. I submitted a claim online to AHS. I did it during the weekend, and I got an automatic email response, and then first thing Monday, someone called me to set up a time. The contractor came out that same week. He was quiet, efficient and narrowed on the problem really quickly. Once I gave him the symptoms, he was pretty sure he knew what was going on, and it only took him a few minutes to diagnose. He had a part that would work, and he installed it. And everything was fixed by the time he left. However, whatever part he used, it’s not as quiet as the original part. I could hear the fan a little bit more than I used to be able to. So, I don’t know if it’s not a manufacturer’s part or if it’s changed. The refrigerator’s 12 years old, so it could be an updated version. But, everything’s working great.

    Our garbage disposal in the kitchen sink wouldn’t turn on and we didn’t know what was wrong with it. I had to call American Shield and make a payment, then they sent out a plumber. The rep I talked to was great and the tech who came out wasn't here very long. Apparently, there were some food caught in the binder that goes around and he was only here for 10 minutes to fix it. He knew what was wrong and since the repair, everything has been great.

    I like to talk to someone when I have a claim because the computer system sucks. It is inaccurate, and I gotta keep pressing zero. And then I gotta try to talk to somebody to actually get what I wanted done because the computer system is so unreliable. But with the repair, the technicians were pretty good. My washing machine took a little longer to fix because they had to order the part. But other than that, I have no complaints about them. My stuff is working pretty good as of right now.

    American Home Shield has definitely improved. I was having issues with them last year. But this time, it was pretty good. I didn’t have to call them back and bug them about anything like I had to do in the past. I know they do the outsourcing at times, so that’s kind of a headache also. But they didn't have any clue what was going on, and that was the most frustrating thing for me. The hard thing for me is that I know how to fix these things, but I’m not gonna fix them because I’m not gonna void my warranty.

    We called AHS because one of our AC condenser units was leaking in the house. The reps were very helpful and very friendly. The contractors were great as well. They were very professional. They kept clean. They made sure he put his little boot covers on so he wouldn’t track any dirt and mud into the house every time he came in and out to work on something inside or outside. They worked great with me on working with my schedule. They were very helpful and giving me a heads-up when they’re gonna be an hour away. So, I had plenty of time to get home, to be there for them when they got there. I really appreciated their scheduling and their resources for that. Everything went as I would expect it to go. No problems, no headaches, and quick response. I’ve recommended AHS to my son who just bought a house.

    American Home Shield's web interface was a ** show. I did eventually call and it still was. There was somebody I talked to who was in some foreign country and who couldn’t understand English very well, and I couldn’t understand them. The first contractor that American Home Shield had signed to me for my air conditioner wanted to come on a different day. It was not gonna work as I was gonna leave town.

    American Home Shield didn’t have anybody here so they wanted me to arrange it myself. I spent a lot of time trying to reach out to people and they didn’t wanna touch the claim with a 10 foot pole. So, I called American Home Shield back, told them I was leaving and I needed somebody to be there when I get back ‘cause it’s hot. I had to put it off for like 10 days ‘cause I was going on vacation. When I got back, nothing had been done. Finally, American Home Shield's regional manager out of somewhere in Iowa called me and I explained my situation to him. He scheduled somebody and this guy was great. He was very professional, courteous, and came at the time we had agreed upon.

    I filed a claim to American Home Shield for my in-cabinet, built-in microwave which had to be replaced. However, I can't get a straight answer. My microwave is supposed to have been shipped on 7/25 for arrival on 8/5, and then they changed it to 8/8. Now, they’ve changed it to 8/15. The first one they tried to replace me with was a whole lot smaller than what used to have. They have fixed that, but I’m still waiting. Another time, my garage door quit opening and I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield. They sent Epic Mechanical out quickly and they did the job right away. The tech who came was very professional and knew exactly what the problem was. He then got it fixed.

The contractor from United Air Temp was good as well. I called them, and he came within two hours. He told me what he did to rectify the issue.     My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for a plumbing type issue. They didn’t cover it because they said it was not the plumbing of the pipes. It was the faucet. It needed silicone around the bathtub faucet. I’ve used American Home Shield quite a bit and there have been two claims that they didn’t cover. Another one was I had a crack in my toilet and how the contractor wrote it up said it was from normal wear and tear or something so American Home Shield didn’t cover that. But for the most part, they usually cover my claim. They are reasonable and there are some things that they don’t cover which is standard with everything. Some of their reviews are not so good, but they did cover our microwave oven. That was huge for me ‘cause it’s a combo. Overall, I’m satisfied with them so I will keep them. I referred our neighbor to American Home Shield and I think my daughter is gonna get them too.

    The PRV valve had gone bad, so I got on to American Home Shield and reported it. I had to talk to a couple of people because there was a lack of communication in trying to get stuff straightened out. One thing that I found out was that when they noted the service request, they only put a leak in the house. And that caused the problem because when the maintenance person got here, all he had was leak. It didn’t specify what kind of leak, but fortunately, he had the part on his truck. But if he didn’t have it, then I would have had waited which would’ve been a problem.

    I told American Home Shield exactly what the problem was, but they just put leak in the house. That could mean lots of things. They need to specify exactly what the problem is so that when the maintenance people shows up, they’ll have the part and they’ll know what it is and they’ll have the part and not have any delays. There were so many other things involved in it, which was the main problem.

    There was a lot of mix-up. I wound up using another plumbing because there was a mix-up in the communication on what was going on. I talked to many people that it got to the point that I couldn’t remember exactly who told me what, but one person would tell me one thing when I called. My most biggest confusion was American Home Shield set up for K & S Plumbing to do the work. They said that they couldn’t do any work because they were in competition with American Home Shield, but American Home Shield had contracted them out. It was really a long, drawn-out thing. But I definitely like American Home Shield. I’ll always refer them when people talk about having problems at home.

    I'm well-pleased with American Home Shield. They’ve helped me out quite a bit. I will continue with American Home Shield. I'm still waiting for the contractor to come and fix my dishwasher because they had to order parts, which I really don’t understand. You would think companies with the job that they do, they would have parts. But they had to order a part. They’re coming out here tomorrow since they got the parts today. But it took five days to get the part, which was kinda ridiculous.

    I've not had any problems with American Home Shield. They replaced my dishwasher and they did it in a way where I could get what I wanted. They also gave me the option if I wanted to get my own, they would give me the amount of money that they are allowed to spend, and if the dishwasher cost more than what American Home Shield gave me, I had to pay the difference. It was about $60, and that was no problem because I wanted a dishwasher with the same brand and it matched my refrigerator that I had to replace. American Home Shield also replaced recently a coil in my heating system. It had a leak and they had to replace the coil.

    United Electric was sent by American Home Shield for the ceiling fan in the bedroom. They did fine. They arrived on time. And the fan is working fine. I’ve had good experiences with the contractors that were sent by AHS. They replaced the heat pump. Everything is fine after that with all the things they had done. American Home Shield has been good. I like it. It saved me a lot of money over the years. I’m happy with it. I have recommended the company, and I’ve gotten a few other people to get it, too. My neighbors have gotten it. My friends have it now because I’ve got it. And it keeps them from having to get all those extended warranties on all those products when they buy them.

    The claims process at American Home Shield is perfect. Most recently, Climate King came out for an AC issue. My upstairs air conditioning unit had quit working where the air thing would come on but the fan wouldn’t turn. So I called American Home Shield to see what was going on. The contractor came through and was thorough. He figured the AC needed to be cleaned but it wasn't that. He needed to replace the condenser in it and he explained exactly what the issue was. He also showed me a few things, as far as maintenance and cleaning. It wasn't in-depth. He kinda pinpointed the issue in about 5 or 10 minutes. He wasn't here long.

    The fan needed to be replaced recently and I made a claim over the phone. The reps from American Home Shield were great. The tech from S&S Appliance came and assessed it, and said he needed to order a part. He had to order it through Viking, which is the brand of the refrigerator. It took a while to get the part in but they communicated regularly with me to let me know they were still waiting on the part. The guy that installed it was very nice. He showed up when he was supposed to.
