Remy Appliance & Repair came out to service our dryer. It wasn't turning. And that claim was smooth. Everything was awesome. When submitting claims with American Home Shield, I have to do it online because trying to call is worthless. You either get some guy who doesn't understand anything or you wait on hold for 35 minutes. They're reading off a script. If you wanna outsource, at least let the reps speak English. All they wanna do is read off a script and say, "Of course, sir. Of course, sir." It drives me absolutely crazy. Their website is okay, but I'm not an 80-year old. If I was an elderly home owner in my 80s, and I had American Home Shield, and I didn't know a damn thing about computers, I would sit around on hold for hours trying to get my claim put in, especially if it's after hours.
Other than that, the contractor from Remy Appliance & Repair was awesome. He came out, he fixed the dryer, and he left. It was on time, everything went off without a hitch. My water heater on the other hand, I spent three hours. And they were lying to me. I said, "Transfer me to someone stateside." "Okay, I'm transferring you now." "I am in Tennessee." "You are not in Tennessee." I really don't appreciate being lied to. And then, I really messed with them, I said, "Well, you know, I have voice-over IP too, and your server's coming out of the Philippines, so you're not in Tennessee." And then you could've heard a pin drop. I'm an IT guy. I was making it up, but I hit the nail on the head.
I had one really bad experience and a couple of good ones. But the water heater was terrible. It took them like three weeks to fix my water heater. The guy came out, he tried something, and it worked for a day. I had to call back, then they had to reschedule, and they came back and tried something else. It worked for a couple of days, and then they had to come back. And then the first contractor they set me up with, I looked him up and I called American Home Shield and told them I don't want this guy in my house because he answered the phone like, "What?" and then he goes like, "Yeah, I can get there in like 10 days." They hire some shady dudes. This guy was terrible. And bottom line is, if they would've listened to the first guy and just replaced the water heater, it would've cost them less money. They had to pay a guy to come out here three times and put parts three times.

I had such a great experience with American Home Shield. My air conditioning stopped working. I was at home and just noticed things getting warmer. So, that night, I kind of did all things I could, and checked the breaker. I’d submitted the claim online. It’s my first time ever utilizing it too. So, it’s very much a convenient means of submitting a claim through the website overnight. I did it at like midnight, so it’s nice that I was able to do it at that time. The next morning, a young lady named Trudy helped me out. At first, it was kind of an issue because they would've wanted to send somebody out the following day, but here in the Las Vegas Valley, it's in excess of 100 degree on a daily basis, and I have a dog.
So, Trudy was on the phone, and I was on hold too, but it wasn’t an issue because she was helping me out for like an hour and 15 minutes talking to every company that American Home Shield has on their list. She ended up finding Sahara Cooling & Freezing and as soon as she did, they were able to be in my home within half an hour, so I met them there. I left work. They repaired my AC within 25 minutes. They were very professional and courteous. I have nothing but appreciation for American Home Shield as a company as well as the Sahara Cooling & Heating for getting it resolved so professionally and quickly.
Everybody in my family has American Home Shield. My brother's air conditioning stopped working and they helped him out as well. It makes sense to have American Home Shield, especially with people my age where we don’t have the lump sum sitting around to replace the washer and dryer or the air conditioning unit. I plan to renew my contract at the end of this year as well.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for a non-functional microwave. The contractor came over, made a first assessment of what was broken, ordered parts, and came back. They replaced one of the door switches and the parts they installed were functional, but a day or two later, the microwave stopped working again. When they came back to do the second assessment, they said a transformer that had gone bad in a door switch had shortened the life of the other two switches and they would have to replace those as well. From the initial going down, it took three weeks but they fixed it.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield is currently open. It’s a plumbing issue. It was a sump pump. They replaced a sump pump. The representatives at American Home Shield were very helpful. The contractors did the job they were expected. They were very knowledgeable of what they were supposed to do. They were in here for about an hour. American Home Shield could find better contractors or people that don’t have me waiting for a week and a half before I get a callback.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for the air conditioner that froze up. I did it online and the process was very easy. The contractor got to me really quick. I called them on an afternoon, and they were here the next morning. So, it was a quick turnaround. The young man that they sent was really polite, courteous and did a good job. He explained what he was doing, and it was low on gas and took care of it, and it's working fine since then.

We had two faucets that were leaking or not working at all. I called American Home Shield and their rep set up for us to have somebody come out. She said that she would set up a call to Clear Flow and then Clear Flow called and let us know when they were coming. The gentleman, Jose, that came out did the repair with his apprentice and they did a very good job. They fixed the problem and they were very pleasant and very knowledgeable. Everybody did their job and we had no issues with them. The last experiences with American Home Shield have been great.

Everything was great with the rep when I filed a claim. The technician took 1 day to come out and the quality of work was good. I have no complaints at all. He was very professional and very fast. He got the issue fixed right away and everything's taken care of.

I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and the contractor was great. When they came, they diagnosed it, got the part, came back and it was done. It couldn't have been any better. Since then, the air conditioner seems to be running fine. One thing that I don't understand is that if the air conditioner goes down on a Saturday, the people they contract with do not work until Monday. I would think that if the contractors wanna be in their program, there are gonna be some things, that on May, June, July and August, they need to be available on night and weekends. It’s the same thing with the furnace company that's gonna be doing it in the winter. When you pay for the deductible, they would get my money, but then I gotta wait. Nevertheless, AHS and the service they provided was outstanding. The whole experience was good.

American Home Shield sent out Sears when the dishwasher had a leak in the tub. They came out two days after I submitted my claim online. They had to order the new tub and come back to put it in. They got in there and did everything in a timely manner. They were courteous and professional too. It was great. Everything has been good with the dishwasher since then.

For the most part, American Home Shield has been pretty good. But for the last two weeks, I've been trying to resolve an issue and it seems like every time I call, either it's not getting resolved or when I call back and I speak to someone, somehow, we get disconnected. Then you would think they would call me back, and they don't. I call back, gotta start all over again, and somehow, it never always goes all the way to the end. I don't know why they don't call back when they have my number 'cause if I call back, I'm not getting the same person. That's been irritating to me.
But as far as normally handling claims, I have no complaints with that part. It’s just this last time, I spoke to someone and I specifically told her where I needed the contractor to come out on. It was to look at my hot water heater as one of the pipes that run into it was starting to rust. She had the person come out and when they came out, they told me that's not even something they address so they didn't do anything. They said it has to be a leak but I specifically told the rep that it was not leaking.
I called back and she said I had to call back Monday because it was like 4 something, and she couldn't get in touch with the people to verify they didn’t do anything. I don't know why she couldn't follow up within a day and call me back. I called back Monday and I got somebody. We were talking about it and we somehow got disconnected 'cause she put me on hold. They don't call back and I didn't have time to call back and start the whole conversation again. So I called back another day, and the same thing happened, it gets further along. The claim is still open and I still haven't gotten it resolved yet.

I made a claim with American Home Shield for a washer repair, and because the repair was too expensive, they offered to replace it and they did. I did the claim online and it was very easy and very efficient. I made the claim and then they got back to me. The contractor called me. They gave me the time the technician is coming 30 minutes before they got there. Everything went well. I just got the new washer yesterday. So far, so good.

Our garage door would start to close when we would hit the button to close it, but then it would just come back up on its own. And we would have to hit the button a couple of times. We would have to hold it down. And then from the car, we would hit the button and it would go back up and I would have to go all the way in the house and around to be able to get it closed because it wouldn’t work with the button. And so, the first guy said the sensors were misaligned. It worked for a couple of days, and then again, it was doing the exact same thing.
Then the second guy came, and it worked fine while he was there. He messed with the sensors a little bit. The thing is it had worked right before he got to the house, but he did mess with it a little bit to see if he could just make sure it was working. But now, it’s working fine and there are no problem from the car or from the house. American Home Shield was great and so were the garage people.

My refrigerator freezer had stopped making ice and had gotten warm. I put a claim in with American Home Shield. Their local company, Advanced Appliances in Greensboro, came out. The tech determined that the fan that blew air across the coil was frozen up. He had to order a part. The good thing that I was really pleased about was he told me that if I go buy a small electric fan and put it in the compartment, it would temporarily solve my problem and it did. It took about a week and a half for the part to come in. During that time, the refrigerator and the freezer continued to work. It made ice and did everything that it was supposed to as a little tiny fan was sitting up in the top. I was very pleased with the results.

I've had Kent Electric come out and this gentleman and I have gotten such a good rapport. I had to have him come in there three times because my tenant made complaints on things that this gentleman had gone in for and done already. I know it was not anything he was doing. It was definitely something that the tenant herself had to be doing. I'm trying to actually evict her. But Kent Electric is excellent. Mike always knows what's going on. He knows what I'm dealing with. I ask contractors not to make the tenant aware of whatever's going on. I'm the landlord and I ask them to speak to me, and Mike knows that before he starts any work. He would call me, let me know and ask if I'm okay with such and such.
The company that American Home Shield always sends out always does an excellent job. But I usually have to talk to somebody to file claims and what bothers me the most is that a lot of times, the calls are not here in the US and you get people who do not speak clear English. I'm dealing with my money, like with credit cards, but I can't understand them and they can't understand me. I have to keep repeating myself. I don't like to do that. I usually hang up and call back. I even asked one woman and she said she couldn't tell me where they are. But it's either the Philippines or an Asian country.
I did not like the fact that this last time, they ended up taking money out that they should not have taken out. They were going to charge me for work that wasn't even done. If there's a service call and no one goes out, if it was canceled or the date had to be changed, are they normally supposed to still charge a customer? I noticed yesterday, when I went to pay my monthly bill with them, that they turned around and they still have the electrical part pending. Why would they charge me $125 for something that wasn't done just because a call was made? They can't do that. I got it straightened out though. They claimed they were reimbursing the money back to me because it was something that I wasn't aware of but I've dealt with them before.

I called American Home Shield for my plumbing claim. The rep that I talked to was very helpful. She called the contractor and the contractor called me right back. They came out the day that they were supposed to come and found out what the problem was. Then they had to go back and resubmit to AHS to get it approved. We got approved so they called me to say that they’ll be here on Thursday. They were very nice.

The AC unit is working but it’s not working the way that it should. I kinda knew that they wouldn’t be able to do anything when they came out except give me ideas, and they did. The fan is doing a little too much work and it’s like sucking into my heat. I haven’t had the opportunity to implement the ideas that the technician gave though. He was very good and American Home Shield is good too.

My drain was clogged up in the basement. I filed a service request claim with American Home Shield over the phone. A Water Solutions was out reasonably quickly. I had to schedule them according to my schedule, but they came quickly and resolved the issue. This is the second time I've used the home warranty, and they're doing an excellent job.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim for my AC. It took a little while for someone to come out ‘cause it’s the summer. It took actually two attempts. I had to call a second time to American Home Shield for them to try another company. Then One Source Heating & Cooling came out and took care of it. They resolved one of the main issues. The other ones, they couldn’t because of lack of accessibility to the furnace, but that’s not their fault. In general, we’re pleased. And we’ve been fixing a few things ‘cause we just moved in, and it’s worked out. So, our experience has always been good.

It was dealing with my waterspouts on the outside of my house which were leaking water. Once I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, I got a response back from the vendor very quickly. That was a Monday and they were going to come in on Tuesday. I wanted the tech to come out on that Wednesday and he did. He was at my place for about 30 minutes and everything went well.

My washing machine wouldn’t work and we filed the claim online. The AHS contractor showed up. He was very polite, courteous and knew what he was doing. He identified the situation and diagnosed it. There was a part that needed to be ordered with my latch and he went and fixed it up and put it back in. He was great. The washing machine’s been doing good.

I was told that one of the coils in the AC had worn out, and to replace the coil, it would be $1500. To get a new system would be more than double that, so it was better just to get a new coil. I called American Home Shield and they instructed me on what to do online. It was fairly easy, and Airmax was here within five working days. They showed me the old parts that they took out and showed me the new part that they put in. They told me it would be done in three or four hours, and it was done before that time.
However, I thought that I was supposed to be getting a refund. Somebody called me and left me a very detailed message saying that I would get $2,200 back. But I called and somebody informed me that that was a terrible mistake and that that message was actually meant for Airmax. Another thing was that when the guys from Airmax were here, they were telling me that I could have gotten an additional service where we could've gotten my air filters cleaned. I was disappointed that nobody told me that. That was a lot of money that I spent. If it was just gonna be a few more dollars to get these vents clean, then I definitely would have done that. I really wish that American Home Shield had told me that was an option.

I’ve had a few bad experiences with some of the vendors that American Home Shield has sent out to us and I’m questioning whether or not we should continue with AHS. We had a plumber that was supposed to come out and he was absolutely the most unprofessional person. He messed up so many times and we filed complaints. I was told I was gonna get a refund for what we paid but we didn’t. American Home Shield refused. It seems like we’ve put in a lot of money for years to be able to have confident people come and work on our products, and unfortunately, we don’t. Recently, we submitted a claim online for the oven. It wasn’t working at all. The gentleman came and he said he fixed it but he didn’t. We have to buy another oven because I don’t want to spend another $75 to ask somebody to come out.

We had a broken air conditioner and that same day, my wife called to file a claim. American Home Shield got the service scheduled in a timely fashion and the AC is working good now. The contractor was also very professional, clean and friendly.

American Home Shield sent A & L Appliance to service our dishwasher. The contractor was excellent. He was able to identify what the problem was and determine what needed to be done. It was determined that it needs to be replaced. We just finished up the replacement request last night. We've identified the item, and we got the email saying, "This is the people that are gonna be installing it for you and it's gonna be five to 10 days." So, we're just waiting for that phone call now.

I was a loyal customer and had no issues with American Homeshield until it was time to cancel my account. I have tried to cancel my account since March of 2019 and was always told they will submit my request. Every month thereafter I kept receiving a bill, up until August of 2019. Mind you every month when I called I was told the same thing. It is now August 2019 and I just received a “nasty letter” claiming that my account is overdue $273.12 and it has been referred to collections. Now, I’m extremely upset & very unsatisfied with this company. I have even thought of eventually returning back to this company.
This company will never ever earn me back as a loyal customer. Your company assures customers one thing, however your company is full of lies and bad customer service. I urge everyone to be careful when choosing this company. God forbid you want or have to cancel your subscription with this company, I wish you all the best of luck. Also, get use to it when they tell you someone will call you back because they won’t. BEWARE.

My refrigerator broke down on 7/25/19. AHS sent a repairman out on 7/26 but he was not able to repair the compressor. Second repairman came out on 7/30 and said the same thing that the compressor was broken. It took the second repairman 4 days to submit the diagnosis. Now on 8/5/19 AHS finally approves the repairs.
When I called to inquire about my service request update the phone representative John was not helpful to the questions I was asking. I requested to be transfer to a supervisor and John kept saying he is well trained and the supervisor is not available. I kept requesting and stating I will hold for a supervisor and John refused to transfer me to a supervisor. He kept on saying "let me put you on a brief hold while I check on the supervisor". After going back and forth requesting a supervisor, John starting to tell me I wanted to cancel my service and he is going to process my request. I never said anything about cancelling any service. John started to make things up and I kept asking for a supervisor. After about 45 minutes with John, he transfers me to a supervisor.

So my AC went down in the month of August, the hottest month of the year, mind you. I live in Southeast Texas so it's really hot + high humidity. I was told by American Home Shield that they would overnight the compressor that was needed to fix my air conditioner as I waited through the long hot weekend, I called Monday morning and was told that it was shipped using standard shipping and that there's nothing they could do. So now I will be almost two weeks without air conditioning with a six-month-old infant in a tropical climate. They buy all their parts in bulk at next to nothing prices, they cut corners every way they can and do not care about their customers, not to mention they obviously use a call center in another country because you can't barely understand them and there is no supervisor you can be transferred to. I am very unhappy with their service and will not be recommending this company to anyone.

So again, there is no solution and I wasted my time calling you guys because now they are saying I have to have my problem transferred to the Appliance department because the plumber said it’s not a plumbing or water issue. It’s something wrong with the dishwasher. 5 technicians already! Time wasted off work! Because you guys can’t just replace my dishwasher and keep sending technicians! The spot that you see that is cleaned is to show that the residue always reappears even after cleaning the inside of the tub. Again I have pictures to prove that there has been no solution and they are just transferring things back and forth wasting my valuable time from work and getting paid.

American Home Shield should be investigated by the U.S. Attorney's office for consumer fraud. The unscrupulous nature in which this company operates is an affront to any business model I have seen in my lifetime. False advertisement and customer fraud is their business mantra. Not only do AHS take your money on a monthly basis, they also charge a $100+ service fee for a technician to visit your property to assess the problem. Now here is where the scam comes to play! Any diagnosis the service technician renders that will put more money in his or her pocket and assists in denying, and or paying out claim is where AHS will follow. The customer service is blatantly hideous! Also, the so-called authorization department and the members of the staff should be brought up on racketeering violations.
Having interactions with AHS is the "MOST" disappointing, dreadful, experience I have had since we purchased our home. I would urge consumers to make it their priority to run this business out of the market by not doing business with unscrupulous business. There is nothing American about this business. In fact, AHS should change their name from AHS to Moscow Home Shield. Their business ethics and practices are reflective of one in which a despot style of communistic form of business model would thrive! In closing, the only reason AHS received a one star from my experience with this company is because there was nothing lower than a one (1).

My A/C unit went down on July 22nd. As of today August 5th they still have not made the necessary repairs and there still is no end date in sight. There is a lack of communication between American Home Shield and the contractor who has to make the repair. Considering the outside temperature is in the upper 90s this is not acceptable. If this was a furnace breakdown in the middle of winter you would be dealing with broken water pipes and unlivable conditions. Save yourself some headaches and find a different company for your home warranty.

If your AC goes out, be prepared for a long wait to get it repair. The contractor they use in my area are not the best, they came out three times and did not diagnose the issue correctly. AHS has to order compressors and it takes 7-10 business days, so they say, I am still waiting. It's not worth the hassle to go through all the red tape. Save your money for repairs. Complain all you want, but no one will entertain your complaints.

We submitted a claim to AHS for a hot water dispenser and City Plumbing came out six times to repair it. And then P&R came out and they said that the unit itself that had been replaced a couple of times by City was defective, that the thermostat was probably bad on it. And then, City sent another person out to replace, again, this is like the third unit. And so, hopefully, they're getting some kind of return because this all happened in two months. It's just been horrific. My wife was at home for 40 hours waiting for plumbers to fix one problem. This was like 11 visits, most of which by City. And so, my previous phone call with American Home Shield is I wish to have City never come to my home again. And when this problem is finished, I hope that that is honored.
As far as their cleanliness goes of both P&R and City, they clean up after themselves just fine. On Friday, this was City, they called about 15 minutes out and they said, "We would be about 15 minutes out," and they were then an hour out. So I don't know what happened to them. And then, they give you a four-hour window, but they generally show up in the last hour. And so, it's disrespectful of the homeowner.
However, when they are in the home, they are very respectful of my wife. The guy on Friday got very angry with the process of repairing it, and he went outside of the house to calm down. So, when he came back in and continued to work on it, he was respectful. I know with construction, things sometimes are difficult. He was having problems with some wrenches, getting them into the spaces. And so, he was very frustrated. And I did appreciate the fact that he stepped away and he composed himself as opposed to be belligerent.
I usually call AHS over the phone to submit a claim. They don't seem to have a lot of authority, and it seems that they have to put you on hold a lot to get approval for anything, and generally, a phone call takes almost 40 minutes. It takes a while to get an approval for something. And so, it would be nice if the representatives had a little bit more authority to shorten that experience down. But in the end, I don't have any difficulties with American Home Shield.

Updated on 08/07/2019: I hardly ever make reviews but this time I had to. Stay away from this company. We were with them for 6 months. Called on an Air Conditioning emergency. We live in Arizona and temperatures were above 115 degrees. They expedited and 2 days later an inferior vendor came in from over an hour away. Nothing was fixed. When called again and expedited again another 2 days went by. You call and get India or Philippines. You ask for an American Operator and none to be found as well as supervisors. When you try to cancel 2 hours on hold.
I called credit card company on cell and made sure no more payments to them. As soon as I told them I did that I was miraculously given cancellation numbers. I had 2 contracts and cancelled both. I had a friend having same issue as me. She has First American. She had a man dispatched the same day and issue was resolved when he got there.All I can say is please beware. I went by good reviews. I certainly did not have one. Thank you.
Original Review: First time we use AHS and very disappointed. Air Conditioner went down in AZ 115. Called on a Wednesday we expedited and got service on a Friday. Work done was poor. Called that same night that unit was still not working and here it is Sunday and still no service. Called Customer Service 6 times and get the run around. Ask to speak to a supervisor and they have none. We are ready to cancel the 2 contracts we have with them. Could've had it fixed and expedited with money we've spent on contract.

I signed a contract with American Home Shield about 3 years ago. In the summer of 2017 I called them because my AC unit needed service. It takes a long time to cool my house. American Home Shield send a AC company to work in my unit. They came and did a visual inspection and left in no more than 10 minutes. The next day they sent a recommendation that my AC unit needed to be replace. American Home Shield charge $100.00 for the service call; I call AHS the same day and complain that they did not troubleshoot the problem with my AC and that I refuse the charges. They sent a different company next morning, and without even looking at my AC unit they sent a report to AHS that my AC unit needed to be replace. AHS did not return the $100.00 because both companies did the same report.
I called AHS 3 different occasions and they put in hold for over 3 hours each time, I was able to talk to a AHS rep on the 4th attempt after more than 1 hour waiting and after explaining my situation over and over they said that they were going to look into my case and that a manager will contact me. The manager never called me. This year in March 2019 I called AHS and talked to a representative about my case. They informed that after reviewing my situation I need to replace my unit, but if I wanted that they service another one of their service companies I have to pay another $100.00. I cancelled their service; they just wanted to replace my unit without servicing or attempting to troubleshoot and diagnostic the problem in my AC unit.
I find an AC service company, the first thing they did is to troubleshoot my AC unit to find the problem. They open a small hole in the furnish and they find that the coils were very dirty with a membrane of dust witch did not allow the air to go through. That was why the AC wasn’t working, besides at this point there was no refrigerant in the system because the 2 valves were worn out. They fix my unit only cleaning the coils, and adding refrigerant, the charges were for the cleaning material $35.00, 2 valves at $1.25 each + the cost of refrigerant about $150.00 + 3 hour labor. So I’ll never recommend this company to any person. The companies they use were only trying to sell me a new unit, and they never attempt to fix the problem.

I’m having a power issue in my house. The air conditioner comes on, the whole power in the house drops down and shuts my electronics off and everything else. I called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative. She was able to help me just fine. She rescheduled some appointments, which I have already called on. So, things are moving along and the process was very easy. The contractor has been out here once so he was kind of aware of the issues. He also called and he is gonna be here at 3:30 today. He is gonna run a few more additional tests.

The AC unit was leaking water from the side of my house so I opened the claim online and a lady from AHS called me to verify the time and date, and everything was simple. The contractor called me about 30 minutes before showing up, and I just let them know that my roommate was gonna be there and that it was all good to go, and they did the work and left. I called them and the contractor said he unclogged some kind of piping. He placed like Clorox on it and the issue was fixed.
And then it started pouring again. So I contacted them again and very, very nice and very respectfully, they came back out without charging me anything, so that was really nice. I'm pretty happy about that. But on the email that I got today, it says that there was nothing wrong, and then the contractor basically didn't check, didn't do anything or something. But overall, I'm very satisfied with AHS.

My air conditioner wasn’t blowing cold air and it took AHS a week to send someone out. And the problem wasn’t fixed. We had to get a second opinion. The second opinion guy came and gave the same opinion, so I don’t know where they're going with it now. Nevertheless, the last experience with AHS was good. I’ll recommend them.

I had an issue with the AC unit because the handler unit in the garage was going bad, and that was a 24-year-old unit. But American Home Shield said as long as it can be repaired, per the contract, that’s the only thing they were reliable to pay for. I ended up getting a new unit because the guy said, “Next year, you’re gonna be doing the same thing again and you’re gonna be out of $1000 ‘cause you have to put more Freon back in it.” He also said, “It’s a 24-year-old unit, so I wouldn’t keep putting money into something that’s gonna keep repairing. And you need to put that money toward a brand-new unit.”
So, when I went in and said I wanted to get a brand-new unit, American Home Shield only gave me the difference of what it would’ve cost to repair the unit versus getting a new unit. That’s the only thing. After a certain amount of years, I give American Home Shield a monthly payment, even when there ain’t nothing wrong with my house. But for a 24-year-old unit, they should've seen that I shouldn’t have to keep repairing something that’s gonna keep tearing up. They should've went at least half with me on the new unit versus whatever it was the cost of repair. Moreover, I don't like when they keep going up on the price every year and they take away on what their contract will be doing. They let you know when the cost goes up, and they let you know what they will repair and what goes up under the not repairable side. But American Home Shield is still good to have.

I submitted a claim online to AHS and the process was pretty good. I like using AHS. They are very responsive, so it’s been fine. They got a decent website too. So far, the contractors have been good as well. The refrigerator contractor was a doozy though. They were about to buy me a new refrigerator, but the last change he made the third time he came out fixed it.
The guy for the pipes was good. He identified the problem. He may have even addressed it, but he was saying the pipes could be replaced. I said, “Just look into it.” Because if he does it, there’s a bunch of other units I know we would be willing to pay for as maintenance. So, I wanted to use that company. The guy was good and I appreciate the services.

The pump broke and the fridge was leaking water on the outside of it. I submitted a claim over the phone with AHS and they sent out GE Appliances quickly. It took them less than a week to come out and their service was fine.

Sometimes our experience with American Home Shield is okay. Sometimes, they make us wait 'til the next day or two days after before we get service because they have some rule that they can’t come out really quickly unless we have to pay extra. Even so, the motor of my air conditioner went out recently. My husband submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and the contractor whom they sent was very nice.

I used my disposal, put a half lemon down and it locked. I thought it was the lemon that had locked it, but I wasn’t sure because there was no sound at all. It sounded like the motor just gave out. I called American Home Shield for a garbage disposal issue and they farmed my claim out. PROline Plumbing called me and set the appointment up. They came the following day.
I thought replacing the disposal was what was gonna have to be done but then the technician from PROline, Chris, was pretty amazing. He told me who he was and from the moment he walked in, he and his partner went right to work. He identified the problem and unplugged it. He had a key with him and he unlocked the disposal. His partner looked in and pulled out a little baby spoon. They pulled it out and plugged the disposal back in. Now, it works great. I'm very happy with AHS.

We had problems with the toilet not flushing and a leaky faucet. Filing a service request online with American Home Shield was extremely simple. 2 Sons was able to come out the next day. They were really good. They were professional, efficient, and got the job done all in one day for the original fix. The next one was a situation where it could be one of five flappers that would be installed to fix it. And it didn’t happen to be the first one that the guy brought, and it was the second one. American Home Shield did a great job and they're very efficient. They’re great for homeowners who are on a budget.

I had a loose toilet and I called AHS to submit a claim. It was very easy and the tech arrived the very next day. In fact, the contractors of AHS always come quickly for me and I only had one issue with a company prior. That was back in the winter months when someone didn’t come quickly. But I dealt with American Home Shield and they were very gracious to me in resolving that problem. For my recent claim, the tech who came out did exactly what I asked him to do. The tank and the commode were loose and he checked to see if there was a leak, but there wasn’t. So, he did exactly what he was supposed to do. That same guy had been to my home before, so it wasn’t anybody that I was unfamiliar with. That staff is really good, too.

I called American Home Shield because the refrigerator has been a headache for a while. Many repairmen have come and tried to fix it. I was confident that Craig from Allen Appliances would be able to do it and he came last Wednesday, which was the 31st of July. He put in a new compressor. He said to give it about 12 to 15 hours and it would cool nicely but it is now the 6th of August. I’ve given it plenty of time and the temperature is still 55 to 60. So, the refrigerator side is still not safe to use and we are keeping milk and perishables in our other refrigerator. The problem has not gone away. I have not called Allen Appliances because I’m going out of town tomorrow. I will give them a call next week but I did speak to one of the representatives from AHS so they will schedule the appointment again. They were very nice. I will recommend AHS because they’ve always been helpful.

I had claims made for the washer, the stove, and one of my refrigerators. With the stove, the convection part of the oven wasn’t working. For the washer, it wasn’t getting enough water. Then the freezer went out on my refrigerator. Filing it was seamless. I did it over the phone and the representatives that helped me were professional and very knowledgeable with what they were doing. The contractor came out and there were two parts that they needed for both the washer and the stove. As soon as the part came in, they were right back out. It was my first time using American Home Shield and I was very impressed with them as well as the person that came out to fix the appliances.

When I bought my policy with American Home Shield, I was very careful. I had been in the insurance industry for 25 years and I know about contracts, exclusions, and conditions. I have three air conditioners on my premise. Two are in the main house. 90% of the homes on the west coast have casitas which is right on the property. There is no separation. All my utilities are paid through that unit. I asked the individual from AHS if that was going to be covered and she specifically yes. That was why I took the policy with them.
Now a year later, that unit in that casita went. The air handler is the intuitive part of the air conditioning and it is an important part of it. I turned a claim in and somebody was sent out. But that technician was a real bozo. The first trip out, he didn’t come with the proper tools so that was a wasted day. Specifically, he was supposed to come out with nitrogen gas and put it into the system to find the leak. But he didn’t bring the nitrogen gas. He said it was in another truck with another technician.
I’m also a maintenance person and I’m AC certified. He was a contractor and he only had one bottle in one truck. Right away, the red flags went up. He wasted a trip. The next time he came out, we found the leak but he didn't bring his acetylene torch to do the brazing or to fix that leak. Finally, somebody came with an acetylene torch and he brazed it. The first guy lost again. That was two days now.
The next trip, they found out that they had to call it in because it was over x-number of dollars. Again, to me, with companies, if it’s gonna exceed a certain amount, you have to call it in and get the authority. AHS came back and said it was denied. In the four more days after the technician left, he didn't have the decency to tell me it was denied. I had to hear it from the home warranty company. I asked what it was about. I was talking to the service office again and they were reading off a script. All they knew was it was not covered.
I asked under what condition or what exclusion. The rep pointed to one. I told her that didn't apply to me. It was innocuous. It didn't even say what they were claiming. They said it was a mother-in-law suite. But it was not. It was on my property and not off it. When they say attached, my roofline in the main house doesn’t touch that. It was ridiculous. What if it was my garage? It touched my house so they would have covered that.
I read the exclusion and said that that didn't pertain to me. If they were going to put a mother-in-law suite aka a casita, they should put it in writing so the person who is reading this knows it’s excluded. They shouldn't call it something innocuous like mother-in-law suite. I got upset about that. It's almost a week now. I had to pay a contractor to come in and do the job in one day.
One of my biggest complaints too was the contractor. The technician who came had three failures. He would take it back to the home warranty people. American Home Shield relies on their contractors to fix and they are their eyes and ears. I think that the technician I had was an idiot. He described the issue and what he described was 180 degrees out from that of the real contractor who came in and did the job. The technician who came was talking about cutting something out of my drywalls and removing the unit. I’m AC certified and as I was listening to him, I realized he didn't want the job. He was making it sound worse than it was. He turned it back to the company and I believe he did that so that AHS would deny the claim.
I’m looking at my contract and there’s a number there that I was just about to call. I’m that hopeful I would be able to speak with somebody of some knowledge. As I was an insurance underwriter, I want to talk it out with the underwriting department aka claims department. I want us to go through this exclusion together and make sure that the terms being used are applicable or not. If it’s not applicable, then the exclusion doesn’t exist in my case.
I chose American Home Shield. They were at the top of their game and they were either one or two in the industry. They were quick on their response when I made the claim and they were quick to send somebody out. I’m hoping that they are gonna see the logic. $4,000 is nothing to them. That’s what I had to pay. It wasn’t astronomical but it was mainly that I’m paying to get serviced and to get things fixed and repaired. I own several properties and I have three contracts with American Home Shield. I’m getting up in age and I can’t be running around to my properties taking care of these problems. These vendors take care of it for me.

The contractor contacted me within two hours and they came the next day because of my schedule. It was my request but they were ready to come any time. They were fantastic, very efficient, quite quick and I’m very satisfied. There was a leak and the faucet needed to be changed. Since the repair, it has been great so far.

I had a bad experience a while back with an appliance repair and it was so horrible, but other than that, all of the other contractors I’ve had over the years have been great, so the odds are good. My experience with American Home Shield started out bumpy. Our air conditioner went out and when I called, we were assigned to a local entity. They said that we would get a call within 24 hours but 24 hours came and went. I even called them three times and those never went to anything. I tried to leave a voicemail but the voicemail was full. I left at least two voicemail messages and sent a text message. But I never heard from the initial person that we were assigned to. So then I called back to American Home Shield and they assigned us to a new company. That company called us within two hours and were out the next day. The technician was here for 30 minutes at the most and in that time, he talked to us, did an evaluation and then waited to see if the system was working again. He resolved the issue and gave us good advice. He was very good.
So the second part of the process was good. But the first vendor was horrible. I also looked online and the rating for that vendor said the same thing. People tried to call them and when they finally talked to the guy, he was arrogant. There were all kinds of nasty evaluations for the contractor and American Home Shield because the vendor was so lousy in their performance. American Home Shield really needs to look at those vendors and get those bad vendors out of the mix. If I have to deal with vendors like that, there’s no purpose for us to have a warranty. Our friend had a similar issue for her house and they had the same warranty as we do.

We've been having some issues with the icemaker. We submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and most of time, they have been very proficient in getting somebody here, but it took Sears forever to come out. When we had some issues with the dishwasher, American Home Shield used Platinum Services for that and they were here within three or four days. But Sears has taken three weeks on this icemaker. They must cover a larger territory or they're limited on their service people, so they told me they were scheduled out in two weeks. But all of the people that came the house were professional. When Sears came in, we thought they repaired the icemaker, but it ended up not being repaired. We had a water leak, so that was not good. They ordered some parts, and the parts got here. And now, we’re on a recall and hopefully, it’s gonna get repaired on the third team.

I called American Home Shield to submit a claim for leaky toilets and I was supposed to get a call within 24-48 hours but I never got it. So, when I called AHS back, they said they would get right back with me. Within 5 minutes, they gave me a call back and said that it would be scheduled for the next day. I finally got it serviced and the contractor was great. He told me a lot of stuff about it I didn't even know about. Since then, everything seems fine. We were able to use all the toilets.

A drain was clogged so I sent a claim to American Home Shield online. It went very easy and they got back to me in the next minute. Then somebody came out and fixed it. The tech knew what he was doing and he was professional. He did what he had to do, and left everything working fine. So it went very well.

I had an icemaker issue. I went online to file a claim with American Home Shield and they sent me a text message to give me the information for the contractor. The contractor called me at the first opening of the store. We set up an appointment and they came out. The guy looked at it and realized that I needed a part replaced. He let me know whenever he got the part, and they called me and set up an appointment. He came back out yesterday with the part and fixed it. There’s no ice still, so we still don’t have ice made. But I didn’t have a problem with American Home Shield. So far, so good.

We would either call or submit a claim online to American Home Shield and most of the time, there was no need to call to make an additional inquiry about the same problem. AHS would send something in the mail that a contractor would contact us. We had a problem with our AC that started back in June when we first called American Home Shield to put in the claim. Precision came in to look at it and they did something to fix it. Then, we noticed again in July that we had the same issue, the same unit was giving air but not working.
The contractor who came out the same day as Precision made a big diagnostic that I had to change the whole unit. American Home Shield called me to follow up after the first company called them to report on what their finding was. I asked the lady what the problem was that the other company found and reported to them. She told me that she would have to call but it says that the unit had to be changed. Also, we have to pay for the Freon and it would’ve cost us $975. Then, somebody from Precision came. We were surprised but he came in, went downstairs and whatever the problem was, he fixed it and the AC was working. It took the guy 15 minutes. He knew exactly what to look for.
As soon as you call, AHS doesn’t go and investigate. In their policy, about 90 days after the service was rendered, if the issue comes up, they have to fix it. They’re quick to take money out of your account before even realizing what was going on. Still, AHS is decent. They just need to work more on their customer service. Other than that, it’s a good insurance to have.

I’ve had a couple of times when I’ve been annoyed with my experience with AHS, but this time, my experience went well. The contractors had installed a water heater incorrectly. And every time I had somebody else come through, they’d say, “This isn’t up to code.” So, my husband was gonna just go ahead and call the plumber but I said, “No. American Home Shield installed that. They should correct the issues for that.” So he called AHS right away. The contractors came out and sorted out the issue. The contractors were very nice. No complaints with the contractors they sent. We recommended AHS to both our daughters who are homeowners.

When submitting a claim to American Home Shield, doing it over the phone is always better. We had a failed air conditioner and we were contacted by the contractor on the same day we submitted the claim. They were out the very next day and their work was very satisfactory. They were very thorough but they’re not quite finished. They are coming back to finish it this week.

Our air conditioner needed a repair and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. My air conditioner has been broken for two months now. AHS just keeps on sending out the contractor, who has changed part after part. I’m hoping that it gets fixed next week.

I had a couple of clogged drains recently. I went online and filed a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor called me right away and we worked out a time convenient for us both. He was very professional and helpful. He found the problem and fixed it. I left him alone and I didn't know what he was doing but I was glad he was here. I have four bathrooms and the repair has to be done. Now, the drains are working fine and nothing is getting stuck up.

I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a garbage disposal repair. The claims process was a little frustrating because I was out of town, and I wanted to make sure it got fixed in a timely manner for the wife. The first representative I had on the phone didn't get a hold of the company that was assigned the first time. They said they couldn't accommodate us and she couldn't assign me another company until she got a hold of them. I had to wait two or three hours and called AHS again to get the second option, which was Air Squad Heating & Air Conditioning. I just wanted the garbage disposal fixed within a day or so and not over three days, and they were the ones who were assigned to my home. It worked out. It was Bryan who came out and he was excellent. He took care of everything in about 25 minutes and we were up and going. I'm very pleased.

Filing my claim online with American Home Shield was fine but I had an issue with the person getting there. Upon talking to him, his truck had broken down and he did call and leave me a message, but I didn’t get the message until later on that day. He had the lady to follow up with me and explain what had happened. He would be there the next day and he was able to come. Once he was finally able to come out, it was great. He was able to complete the repair in the same day.

The initial guy said all the upgrades were made and then, the plumber who came out and actually replaced the unit said that there were upgrades needed. So, I said okay. I didn't believe him but I told him to leave the things that he would upgrade. He upgraded two brass pipes and it looked brand new. I said that I wasn’t sure that was the case. He told me that most businesses won't change out a hot water tank unless they can use their own pipes. I said that was fine but he said it needed an upgrade but then, he was telling me that it’s that he wanted to use those pipes.
I went to Lowe’s and the pipes cost $38. I was charged $394 and it was called an upgrade. I still have the pipes that the plumber said needed upgrading and there's nothing wrong with them. They can be used for another 30 years because they're brass and in great shape. I've contacted American Home Shield and they put me in touch with the same people. Plus, they say you're talking to a supervisor, but you don't know who you're talking to. I asked them to mail me the documents, so that I could fill out paperwork and appeal this decision that there was no upgrade required. Other than that, we're good but that was an eye-opener.

I was given a four-hour window and the contractor was right on time with it. They were very professional, nice, and polite. It’s great customer service. All in all, I’m extremely satisfied.

Generally, American Home Shield has always been great. But this recent claim with the air conditioner was horrible and it's the guy that they keep using, Denny from Temperature Tech. He was very bad. He just walked in and said it was probably nothing because it was just so hot out and that it was happening to people all over the place. I had my AC at 75 and my house was at 85 degrees at the time. I said it was not normal. He said this happens with older AC units and that he'd take a look at it. He came back 15 minutes later and said there was nothing wrong with the air conditioner. He wrote it off as nothing was wrong with it.
American Home Shield sent him the second time and I confronted him. I said, “Look, I don't know what the issue is. The first time, you didn't even go up there to check if there was an issue.” He said, “Okay, let me go up there and check.” He went up there and said he found the problem. It was the ductwork that had fallen. I asked what would we do and he said he just taped it up and put a few screws in. That was it. He left and it was a little cooler but I was still having the same issue. He had to come out three times.
I had to call American Home Shield about four times. I called and asked if they could send another person instead of the person that they had sent me. Never did they tell me that this person was the owner of the company so they sent him again the second time even though I had requested somebody different. When I called them back, they were argumentative. They said, “Well, we can’t do anything today. It’s too late. It’s already gonna be 5:00, so you’re gonna have to wait. And if you want a second opinion, we can set that up, but you’re gonna have to pay another fee.” I said okay and they said they were gonna set it up and they would call me back. This was on a Saturday.
Monday came in and nothing so I had to reach out to them. They told me that they didn't have any paperwork for my second opinion. By this time, I was asking to speak to a supervisor and he was not available at that moment. They finally set it up with a second opinion and I had to pay again. Orangutan Home Services came and they were amazing. The technician looked around. He went up in the attic and checked everything. He took about 30 minutes then he sat down and explained everything to me and said it might be a couple different issues. He stated it was the thermostat. He changed it with a completely new one, and I haven’t had an issue since.

My refrigerator was having some issues keeping the temperature inside. When I did the claim online, the first technician assigned was not very polite. I called American Home Shield back and asked for a different person. They changed it right away and the second one was awesome. It was really good and I’m very happy with American Home Shield.

When the air conditioning was out, the technician that American Home Shield sent fixed it within that same day that he came out. He tested the parts, took the air conditioner apart to see exactly what was going on, replaced the part and said that it was working. The air conditioning has been colder than it was before we had it fixed.

Alfred and Mousley Plumbing came to fix a leak under our sink. They showed up in less than three business days after I filed the claim with American Home Shield. There was a line under the sink that was leaking and the guy had to replace the connector and the pipe. We’ve always had him for our plumbing needs and he’s always been outstanding.

Our garbage disposal went out and I called American Home Shield for it. Unlike the previous experiences I've had with American Home Shield over the last year, the response was quick and the fix was very quick and successful. I called one day and the plumber replaced the garbage disposal the next day. I was very pleased with this most recent incident. The garbage disposal worked last night when I used it.
We've had American Home Shield for a year now and this was the fourth time that we had to use them. All the other events before this claim have been less than superior. It would take too long to get connected with a contractor and it would take too long for the contractor to get here. In some cases, the effectiveness of the repair/replacement was not immediate.
And when the one year came up, American Home Shield increased my monthly premium by 25% without explanation. I called in to find out what the explanation was and I got a generic response stating that part of it was increased prices and part of it was instituted by either me or American Home Shield. But nobody could ever tell me what that meant. I have not been happy with American Home Shield overall. I left my previous provider a year ago because they were charging more and having poor response times. I got a better deal with American Home Shield but then I had poor response times. The work got done as promised on all counts though.
I think that the business of warranty is flawed somehow because even the two home warranties I had (TotalProtect) and have (American Home Shield) that are supposed to be so good are not. I'm so frustrated. Initially, you could pay the $100 when the contractor showed up. But they sort of take the $100 right away this time. Since I was gonna pay the $100 anyway, that was okay. But I didn't get a notification about it. They just did that all of a sudden.
And when we had to get a new dryer washer, the free replacement had terrible reviews. We wound up having to pay several hundred dollars, to get the washer that we needed for what was being replaced. American Home Shield definitely lowballs you on the replacements. Thankfully, for the garbage disposal claim that took place last week, they put in the same one that was already in there. It had been okay.

The contractor of AHS made an appointment for our dishwasher. I showed them what was going on and they evaluated it. They couldn’t fix it so they’re replacing it. And it's kinda hard to deal with them. I have a washing machine and dryer coming too. So there’s three items, and she said she wanted to bring the washer and dryer, and I said, “Well, where’s the dishwasher? Deliver them all at the same time.” And she said the washer and dryer are aging, and because they’re aging, they wanted to bring in those out right away and then come again with the other one.
I asked, “Since when does a washer and dryer age?” She’s a young girl, so I asked to speak to her supervisor. So the supervisor said that she would have the washer and dryer extended. And so, yesterday they called and they have the dishwasher now, but she doesn’t know anything about the washer and dryer. And so, I’m waiting for a call today because they were going to try to get them all together and deliver them at the same time, because it’s the same company.
With the washer and dryer the delivery guys can install them because all they have to do is plug it in. But I have to get somebody else to come and do the dishwasher. Also I’m out of town here, where we have repairmen, and I don't why somebody like that can’t be called to come up and install and tell me whether I need a new one or not. They have to bring somebody from out of town, far away. I don’t know why they can’t use local people. But I don’t have to pay for the installer because it’s under American Home Shield.

I had a problem with the drainage of the house, where my gutters go into. Water was getting in my basement, so I called it in to American Home Shield. Everything was professional when I spoke with them and they got on it right away. The contractor came out the next day and he was on time. When he got the referral, he called to verify everything with me and let me know what time he would be here. He was very pleasant and professional. He did a thorough check to make sure the lines were open. It has rained, and everything was clear. So, it's good.

There was liquid coming out of the evaporator cooler in the garage. When I called American Home Shield, I told them it was 114 degrees here. The rep was very helpful and extremely concerned about the fact that it was 114 degrees. They were also concerned that the air conditioning wasn't gonna work. They had someone out within two hours and the contractor was there promptly. They called ahead of time to confirm. We live in a gated community and they introduced themselves as they arrived. I had moved everything away so they could get into it. They checked inside and outside and saw the problem. They diagnosed it immediately. The return line from the evaporator that goes out to the outside of the house with the moisture was plugged so they cleared it, and that was it. They were gone within maybe half an hour. It was an excellent experience with American Home Shield.

I had issues with the washer/dryer and I filed an online claim with AHS. Their online claims process worked great. I also called them for follow-up conversations and such because the techs couldn’t repair it, so they had to replace it. The contractor who came out did their job and I have no complaints. But it took about two weeks to arrive at a resolution and it would be nice if they could shorten that period of time to come to the decision. But I also understand that because I had an older washer/dryer, they needed to do research and check a number of sources to see if they could find the parts anywhere. At the end of the day, I was without a washer/dryer for two weeks, so that seemed like a long time. Also, I wanted to get the cash equivalent because I wanted to get something else different and I haven't gotten that check reimbursement even though I've submitted all my paperwork. But, things worked fine overall.

It was excellent dealing with Foxcroft HVAC. They had to come back out because the AC did the same thing again. It was a leak and I lost a couple of pounds of Freon again. But the same tech guy came out and he said that they had gone through a case of the sealant that they had put in and it was bad. They were getting all these callbacks. But they got a new one and he said they would fill it again and put the Freon in with no charge to me. He also said to let him know if it’s acting up again. He fixed the issue in about 10 minutes and it’s been working good ever since.
American Home Shield has resolved all the issues and the communication is what they say. They get back to me within the time frame and I’m real happy. I tell everybody I have American Home Shield. And I will renew too. When I bought the house, I had the opportunity to get a really good special if I took two years so I did. When you buy a house as is, you need to do stuff like that just in case. I also take advantage of the maintenance. I do the preseason checkups. I have them come out twice a year – once for the air conditioning when it gets hot and then I do the maintenance check in the fall for the furnace. It’s really good because when I lived in Florida, I had a heat pump and I did the same thing with that. You gotta be prepared and maintain your stuff so that it lasts.

I called in a claim to American Home Shield for some bathroom problems that I had. I wasn't getting hot water in my bathtub. The reps whom I spoke to at the time were courteous and very helpful. They told me I could expect a contractor out within a few days. The appointment was scheduled in a very timely manner, working with my schedule as well. Pipe Down Services came out and I really liked their plumber. He was very knowledgeable and I felt very confident with the work that he was doing. Since then, everything has been working fine. I got prompt and good quality service.

My AC was not cooling so I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield. That was easy. I actually didn't think it was gonna work and just hoped they got it. They sent out a company that they contracted with. I submitted the claim at night and the service company called me first thing in the morning before 8 o'clock saying they were on their way. The guy who came was very respectful and to the point. He knew what he was fixing. The problem turned out to be a part of the condenser unit. He replaced it and everything was fine. I would recommend American Home Shield.

The air conditioning was not cooling at all and there wasn't any air coming out at all. We had to cut it off because we were afraid it might burn the motor up. We called the American Home Shield number that we normally call if we have an issue. The interactions with the claims reps were wonderful. They gave us a date that would push it quite a bit out five days, and my husband called back and got a representative because I am immune compromised, so I really need the air. It's a medical issue for me, so she worked very hard to get someone out the very next day. The contractor was the same company that came out before and they did an excellent job.
AHS and the heating and air company did all they could to help us as quickly as possible. This happened on a Friday so, we dealt with the weekend, which was not good, but it is what it is and they were able to get someone out on Tuesday instead of the end of the week. So, that was most helpful. Overall, we haven't had a bad experience at all except one with AHS and that was a couple of years ago with our washer and dryer. It had to do with a low inventory on the parts so it took forever to get them but that wasn’t their fault. AHS is a great company.

I submitted a claim at 10 o'clock at night when the AC broke and I'm really satisfied with American Home Shield's online process. I didn't expect any response, but I received a text message immediately. It said who will be the person who's gonna be contacting me, and then the next morning at about 9:00 am, I received a phone call, and the guy was here by 11 o'clock. It was a thousand degrees outside, so I thought it was gonna take a long time to get someone out here. The guy identified the problem and he fixed it. He was fast, efficient and his communication was as good as it needed to be. I'm impressed.

The air conditioner would not work at all and it was a breeze submitting the claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor called the next day, and they were out and fixed the AC the following day. Since the repair, the performance of the AC has been perfect.

The little utility sink in the kitchen was clogged up and the drain line was backed up. I was a little hesitant to submit my claim online thinking if somebody would really respond to it. But I submitted the claim online and the American Home Shield rep responded really quickly, so I was impressed with it. The contractor was excellent. I knew what the problem was and I had already taken part of the stuff apart, so I told him what I knew. And within 15 minutes, he got it cleaned up. It was quick. It's been great ever since. I would recommend American Home Shield.

MRE Incorporated came out and patched up a hole that was cut in the ceiling by another contractor. The timing and everything was great as far as the MRE contractor coming out and fixing it. Now, I've been with American Home Shield for a while, and the customer service sucks. I've had contractors come out six different times to assess, and every time I've called, a supervisor was supposed to call me back because of something that the company didn’t do or that the company didn’t properly contact me or they didn’t show up. And every time I've asked to talk to a supervisor, they’d say, “A supervisor is not available at the time. I got your information, and I'll have somebody to call you back.” It never happened. Some of the contractors that come out here has been great, but the service that was provided as far as the customer service center and ensuring that things are taken care of in a positive manner is horrible.
When my contract is up, I'm considering not even renewing with American Home Shield because of that experience. And it's not the first. I've had quite a few calls and it's every time. But the contractors have called me and they’ve done a great job. It's just a frustrating process. I'm always on a call waiting for like 30 minutes to talk to somebody. The quality contractors is the thing that keeps in my contract versus getting out of it because they're doing their job.

Filing a service request over the phone has been reasonably simple. But sometimes you don’t get an answer right away or you have to give a call back. I had an AC claim and Express Comfort came out in about a week. I wasn’t here but they called me while they were here to make sure they understood what the problem was. Then they went to check to make sure they had the right equipment for this type of unit. They seemed very thorough. The issue was that cold air wasn’t coming out and we were seeing ice on the line that goes back into the condenser. But everything seems to be working very well now. They did a good job.
On the other hand, it's not always clear what American Home Shield covers. For example, with the air conditioner, it required some additional coolant. The technician added Freon and that’s not covered so it was an out-of-pocket expense that we didn’t expect. American Home Shield should make sure that the customers know very clearly what's covered and what's not covered at the time that they're signing them.

I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. I made a claim over the phone for the AC that wasn't working at all. I was really upset that for the first person, they contacted me and I scheduled them for Saturday. I stayed there all day Saturday and they never showed up. In that 105-degree weather and sitting there with no air, that was not a great experience for me. Nonetheless, the tech from Joe’s Heating was very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to complete and fix the item. He even educated me on my thermostat, so he was excellent.

I have been trying to get someone to come back to fix a problem with an appliance that wasn’t resolved and no one will help me!! There is no contact info for me to email. I can only talk to people in another country with a very bad connection who I cannot understand! Very frustrating! I have been trying for two weeks so now I will have to pay another 75.00 just to get someone to come back.

These people are complete garbage. I have never written a bad review for a company in my life (all of my yelp reviews are 4 or higher) but I will go out of my way to tell every person I possibly can how abysmal this company is. I would love to sue them for how terrible they have treated us. Our AC went out in the beginning of June. They sent a repair guy. He sucked. He would spend about 15 minutes in the basement not talking to us and then leave with little explanation. Multiple times we had to stop him as he tried to flee our house without telling us anything. He came 3 times over 3 weeks and concluded we needed a new A/C because our 25-year-old one was broken.
American Home Shield, this absolutely awful company, decides they don't want to pay for a new A/C so instead of listening to their own repair guy they assign us a new company and a new contractor. The new guys comes and is a lot more friendly but he insists on trying all of the same stuff the first guy did We told him that what he was doing was already tried but he promised that he could fix it. After a week with him, I'm fed up. We haven't had A/C in a month and it's 90+ every single day. I call American home shield and get just ridiculously bad service on the phone with them claiming to not have the paperwork we know that has been sent in and all this other nonsense. Surprise surprise they still don't want to honor their warranty.
We continue working with this second contractor company. 3/4 receptionists I talked to were incredibly rude. They didn't care that we hadn't had A/C in over a month and were doing very little to get our unit looked at. Meanwhile, the contractors aren't showing up when scheduled, aren't calling to let us know they aren't coming, and then when we'd call them about it they'd lie and say we had a different appointment time despite us calling a half-hour prior to confirm. They also keep replacing parts on this old A/C. I'm pretty sure at this point we've almost replaced everything and it still doesn't work.
All in all, we haven't had A/C for 7 weeks. We have had 8 visits from contractors. 4 from the first company and 4 from the second. This Friday after having this second company mess around again, American Home Shield FINALLY approved us for the new A/C we've needed for close to 2 months. Mind you, we still have to have it installed. My apartment is 95 degrees as we speak. They are big companies at their worst, forcing people to suffer for their own profit. Seriously ** AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. If you want a warranty that will be honored avoid them at all costs.

I had a washer problem and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. The contractor was out in a couple of days. Sometimes, they're not, but he was really good and he was a nice guy. He fixed it right away and he showed me what to avoid, so that it won't happen. It was shaking really hard and it was because I've got sheets in there and they were wrapped around it. When I put too much in it, it goes to one side and it starts rocking. So, he did a test run and showed me how to avoid it. Everything's working really good and I'm pretty happy with AHS although I'd like them to be cheaper.

I filed a claim for a fan system to blow the cool air from the air conditioning unit through the ductwork into the house. I didn’t specifically know which service to request on that one ‘cause it’s also tied into the heating so I called it in to American Home Shield. The contractor was great and did good service. He showed up on time and was cool with me just standing there watching him. I like American Home Shield's whole service. They benefit me a lot. The only thing was it was a little confusing trying to get the point across for this particular issue, but it was because it was a fan that has two different services and I didn't want to go through two different technicians.

American Home Shield's online claims process seems very convenient and easy. I used it when I had an HVAC issue. It took at least a couple of days for a contractor to come out for the service. Everything seems to be working fine.

I did some research a number of years ago and I wanted to find out who the most reliable and reputable companies were. Over and over, I heard American Home Shield was one of the best so I went with them. Recently, a handle broke off in my faucet in the kids’ bathroom and it was the spot behind the wall. I couldn’t get to it and I didn’t have the tools to reach, so I called AHS. The contractor was out within a couple of days and fixed it within half an hour. I pointed him to it and he said it would be easy. He made me feel comfortable and he knew what he was doing. He did a great job. AHS has always been very responsive and easy to use although I'd like the people that they assign to come out a little bit sooner than two days which seems to be a normal turnaround. Other than that, the experience has been excellent.

American Home Shield is very professional and I would recommend the company. When the AC was not working, filing the claim was an easy experience. I just called in and told them what was going on. They set me up with R&K Heating & Cooling and they contacted me the next day. Then the technician came out and checked out the AC then he told me what was wrong with it and he fixed it. We had it fixed within an hour which was good.

American Home Shield had Precision Engineering come out and they worked on the AC compressor outside. The contractor did the work that needed to be done. He checked on the fan downstairs and the furnace. Everything went great.

My AC wasn’t working. It was blowing warm air. I looked at the outside unit and the fan wasn’t operating. The claim submission with American Home Shield over the phone was a voice-automated process and through the process, my daughter walked in and it messed it all up. So I had to go through an operator and then it was fairly simple from that point on. Then Greenway Home was out in about five days and they got everything fixed in one visit. The guy was there for an hour or so. I was satisfied with AHS.

I just bought a house. I turned the light bulb over the sink and I heard a pop. Then it tripped the circuit. It turned out that it was just the bulb. And apparently, it was in there a long time. The contractor that AHS sent was great, but I was a little annoyed because I tried to turn the circuit on and off myself. It would've saved me $75 to come out just to change a bulb. But I never had a problem whenever I've called AHS for a claim. This is the second time. And I have to make another one because the garbage disposal doesn't even turn on. And I'm trying to see 'cause I don't wanna keep paying $75 for something as minute as like what happened with the light. I'm trying to figure out how am I gonna do this.

I had roughly six repair orders done to our microwave and out of those, the last time, AHS finally warrantied it out because it almost caught fire. I have a house, children, a wife. As we were leaving out the door, the microwave turns on and just starts smoking. If we weren’t home, we would’ve come back to nothing because the technicians that they’ve brought in were irresponsible with dealing with this. I called it in and AHS had to send somebody out to double-check what I was saying. The guy looked at it and only took him five seconds and said that it was not fixable at all.
It took two months for AHS to handle the situation. It’s a very long time with no microwave with children in the house. They were kind enough, but in due process, I almost lost a house, or worse, it could’ve been my children ‘cause this could happen at night time – over a microwave. It would be better if AHS can change some things and realize some of their vendors or people don’t know what they’re doing.

We had a toilet clogged up and I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. The contractor came the next day and they were on time. The rep was very helpful and knew what he was doing. He was very good as well as the experience with AHS.

I went online and did a claim for an air conditioning unit. An AHS representative booked a contractor to meet with me. That was an easy process. The contractor was pretty good. The only problem I had was the fact that I never got a response from the first contractor AHS booked me with within 48 hours of booking an appointment. I had to find a different company. Other than that, everything was repaired and taken care of. My AC has been working great.

The air conditioning was not cooling the house so I submitted a request to have it fixed. Somebody came out and it was an easy fix. He had all the parts. He fixed it and he went on his merry way. The guy was awesome and it was a great experience. When filing a claim, I really like speaking to people in America better than people in India 'cause I can understand them better. It's nothing against the people in India, it's just difficult to understand them and there's a cultural difference also. It's more robotic responses from the people in India than it is from the people in America who sympathize a little bit more.

I've already recommended AHS to people. One time, my kitchen sink was clogged and there was a leak. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and the contractor whom they sent, South Tampa Pool and Spa came out. The techs who came in were very professional. They were late 15 minutes after the beginning allotted time but still they said they were gonna come in. They resolved the issue and were in and out three hours later. I haven't had any issues with the sink since.

I submitted a claim for a washer repair over the phone. The representative gave me the information I needed and told me that the contractor would contact me. Lucas Appliances said that someone would call me within 24 to 48 hours and then he scheduled the appointment to come out. When the guy came out, he explained thoroughly what the situation was. He showed me the issue. He verified that the appliance could in fact be repaired and wouldn't have to be replaced. He told me the timeframe for the turnaround on the replacement part.
While the washer was out, I had to go through a Laundromat and I went into sticker shock there. I started up there with my little $10 worth quarters and thought I was gonna be fine but that did not work. There was one washer that was $9.50 by itself which was supposed to hold 85 pounds of stuff. The cheapest one was $3 and that was just the little top loader, like what I have. So, I was really happy that he called me and told me the part was in. He also told me what time he could be here, and he was here. He was very good and courteous. American Home Shield is a great deal as far as getting the service. Even though that’s only one appliance, I’m assuming that everything else will be fine too.

American Home Shield's website was straightforward and my experience submitting a claim to them online for our AC was fine. An AC guy from Service Contractors of Texas came out to look at AC and determine what was causing the drips and the blockage. He very quickly figured out what was going on and solved the problem. He cleaned out the AC drip and the main excess water line as the secondary one was dripping. He showed me how he cleaned out with compressed air and checked the rest of the unit to make sure it was blowing properly. He was in and out in about 20 minutes. Since the repair, the AC has been working fine.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 21 years now. We get along together. I had an issue with my washer and when I did a claim with them over the phone, their rep's response was great. I had a little problem with service but I don’t think that was American Home Shield’s fault. It was mostly Sears. At first, there was a problem of them getting together with me to set up a date for them to come out here. They just texted me, or told me when they would be here. They were not giving respect to me whether or not I will be home or if I had something to do. We got that squared away, though. Somebody was just too lazy to do their job right over at Sears’ end. And after that, we were okay. Everything is great since the repair. They want to put in more money into it so I had to replace it. And I went and bought a new one, and then I sent in my receipt to Home Shield. Yesterday, I got my new washer. So everybody’s happy.

I called American Home Shield for my refrigerator that was freezing up. The contractor who came was very nice and professional. He took care of the problem the same day that he came and the refrigerator has been good. I haven't seen any problems. The American Home Shield rep who helped me set everything up was very helpful. The dryer would not charge and The Repair Clinic was sent out. The contractor came out twice. The second time was shorter than the first time. The dryer wouldn’t work, but for each time that he was here, the dryer would work. I believe the problem is in the door because it had happened twice since his last time here and I would open the door and put a little more force on it, which I shouldn’t have to do. He was thinking it could have been a timing issue. And he said he was going to have American Home Shield check their records to see if they had any problems similar to mine. But I'll get back to him because he told me which number to call.

It took a week for the contractors to come out as they were booked. Once they came, the quality of work they provided was standard. Their level of explanation was fair. The air conditioner was repaired and the issue has been resolved with the 60-day return should something go wrong with it. The American Home Shield representatives handled my claim well.

And my appointment with the contractor was the following day between 2:00 and 6:00. The contractor explained everything to me, and they're very thorough and fixed the issue right away. I have American Home Shield on my beach house and on rental property because they are so great. My tenant had a lot of issues and we had claims for plumbing, washer, and dryer, and AHS has been wonderful to deal with. They have been prompt. When my tenant had water coming through the ceiling and they got somebody out there the same day. I went with another company on my primary residence because that's what the Realtor had paid to give me as far as the warranty, but if I had to do it over again, I'd go back to AHS. So when this has to be renewed, I will not be renewing with the competitor. I'll be renewing with AHS.
I always get though the line when I call to submit a claim. It has been quick and then the emails come through. American Home Shield has very good contractors. When I tell them that I would like to use this specific guy because he has been out to the house before, they always let me use that person. So that's an added benefit to having AHS as opposed to one of the competitors. On multiple occasions, I've told my mom and dad that they should put AHS on their home.

Our air conditioning had an issue one time and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Though their process was pretty self-explanatory, there was a small glitch in the whole thing. There was nobody to service my area, which is very rural, so service took about seven days. AHS ended up calling Aire Serv in Waynesville, but getting to my location still was about a 30-minute commute for them.
Aire Serv was amazing. I take care of my mother who is disabled and on oxygen. I told AHS about that and they got a hold of Aire Serv who then had a gentleman come finish the job and get my AC working that day once they were contacted. It was 6:30 when he got to my house and he stayed and made sure that everything was fixed. Everything has been good since the repair.

AHS is always great. We’ve had to use them a few times and their customer service and promptness are always awesome. Recently, they sent out Barlow Plumbing Service and they tried fixing the unit. They thought they fixed it but the issue came back and they tried to fix it again. They got with the manufacturer over and over again, then they got to a certain point that it was more economical to replace the unit, which again, they diagnosed for a while trying to fix it for us. Then they got it filed and the replacement unit is gonna be coming this Tuesday. In the mean time, we have a house full of seven, we’ve got 75 gallons, and everybody’s gonna use it sparingly. We gotta use this until Tuesday. All in all I’m a big advocate of AHS and I’ve tried to share them as well. I get that nothing’s perfect, but they do everything they can to get the contractors here. So, I can’t praise them enough.

I initially submitted a service request because I thought there was a problem with my dishwasher. But on the evening before the dishwasher repair person was supposed to come over, I noticed that the leak was coming from the garbage disposal. I sent a video and a picture of it to the email that was confirmed. When the repair person came, I was told that they don’t deal with that issue so I had to have it dealt with separately. I contacted American Home Shield via phone directly. Customer service was perfectly nice and very helpful. Somebody was sent out for the garbage disposal and he was fantastic. Everything was tidy and orderly. The garbage disposal seems to be working perfectly now.

We have two refrigerators. The one upstairs was making a bunch of noise and it was frosting up so it didn't have a good seal. We called American Home Shield and submitted a claim. It was a very quick process. The techs they sent are very nice and prompt and so far, we haven't had any problems. I would recommend them.

I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and said that there was a problem with my air conditioner. They contacted me saying that they would have somebody come out to look at it. A day later or so, we got a phone call from Adam's Air from Amarillo. They set up a time to come and take a look at the air conditioner. They determined that the issue was probably the contactor. However, my system is extremely old and the tech thought he wouldn't be able to replace the contactor. So, they went back and tried to find a part. However, they couldn't find one and so the tech talked to a supervisor and said that they needed to put a new contactor in my AC. A different technician came out the next day and replaced the contactor and since then the system has been up and running.

Everything that is inside our house is covered. I’ve called American Home Shield three or four times now for different things. We’ve actually called them for the AC three times. Twice, it basically stopped pushing any cold air. The third time was for a drip underneath. We heard a dripping sound coming from underneath the air conditioning unit in the house and Kane Heating & Air Conditioning came out. They realized that the tube was clogged and they were able to fix that. There was another time when our dishwasher and refrigerator stopped running as well. So the coverage has been good. It’s covered pretty much anything we've needed. I didn’t even know something like the smoke detectors are covered. I’ve also recommended them to several friends.
If I’m around the computer, I like to file the claim on there. It is usually quicker unless there’s something detailed that I can’t answer online then I’ll have to make a phone call. The contractors have all been very good and courteous as well. They usually give us a call in the morning and let us know about what time they should be coming around. If for some reason our schedule doesn’t fit to that time, they try to work it around our schedule.

CD's Appliances came out and replaced a motor on my refrigerator, the icemaker, then they did replace the switch on my cooktop and some handle on my refrigerator. The contractor was great, and he did a great job. He did what he needed to do and everything‘s been working great. I did my claim with American Home Shield online, and navigating through their website was really easy. And it was the first time I found out that I could have multiple appliances on the same visit. I had American Home Shield for 10 years or longer and never knew that. Overall, my experience was great. It was hassle-free.

The air conditioner was not functioning and we called American Home Shield. They sent out a repairman and he was very professional and friendly. He fixed it in 40 minutes. Since the repair, the AC has been working fine. Also, he gave us some information that American Home Shield had a plan that we could upgrade the system. We're thinking about it. I like American Home Shield. The most recent claim we had with them was with our air conditioner. It was not working well. The company that was scheduled to come out didn't come out in the timeframe provided, but they did come out the same day. They didn't make it within their timeframe because they were coming from quite afar so we completely understand. They fixed our air conditioner which is on our roof. They were able to let us know that we have to clean our air conditioning unit with water hose. However, the service was more expensive than what I wanted to pay for it. It seemed it was a lot for the little bit of work that they did.

I opened the oven up and the handle broke, and so the front of the oven came away from the inside of it. So, it was like two pieces. I went online to American Home Shield's website and filed a claim. The website was really easy to use. They sent GE Appliances and I got to pick when they were gonna come, and I was really surprised at how quickly they could come out here. They had to order the part so the contractor had to come back, but that was completely fine. I didn’t expect him to have all the parts that he needed because he needed to see what was wrong with it first. He was great.
The oven is good as new after the repair. And my experience was very convenient and timely. A lot of times when you submit things for insurance like that, you’re like, “Oh, this is gonna take forever.” Who knows how long the oven is gonna be out. But it was really quick, and the technician was a really nice man. And I liked that I didn’t have to call anybody or fill out any paperwork. The form online was really easy to fill out, and I got to pick when they came and the time windows were reasonable.

I had an issue with the icemaker in our refrigerator. The tech did just what he said he was going to do. After the service, the icemaker works like it did before. It was perfect.

When I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield for my air conditioner, the rep who helped me was very competent and very personable. The contractor came the next day but then he had to order a part. That took a couple of days 'cause the appointment was on a weekend. Still, he let me know when he was coming and I liked that. He was here when he said he was gonna be and got the job done. Since then, the AC has been working fine.

I usually do my claims with American Home Shield online, and I really like the fact now that they give you a choice. Before, they just stated the company they were sending out. But now, you can actually pick. Overall, we’ve had about four different contractors out, and we haven’t had an issue with all of them. They all showed up on time, and they all did exactly what they were supposed to do, and have been respectful of our home.

I’ve been calling for several issues and every time that I get American Home Shield's services, they’re fine. We left home because we went out of town, and everything was fine as it is my habit of checking everything before I leave. When I came back, there were a couple of lights in the master bedroom restroom that were off. I tried to do whatever I could, but I didn't want to touch anything that I am not familiar with. When I called AHS, the lady that I talked to was very accommodating. She sent a gentleman from Ideal Services by the name of Louis, and he was an excellent fellow. He was very good at everything. He told us why this and why that, and I appreciated it. He was very well mannered and courteous. I can tell right away when someone has efficiency, and this fellow was all I expected. Everything is fine and he did it in such a timely manner.

Our AC wasn’t getting to temp. I called American Home Shield and I went through an automated system and it directed me to do it online. It was easy. FACT HVAC came out in two days. Their work was awesome, quick and painless. The contractor knew the problem before he even went up there. He was an extremely knowledgeable guy. There are no other issues since then.

American Home Shield sent out a contractor after I sent in a claim online for my AC. The tech came on time, and he fixed the AC. I was satisfied with what he did. It was a pretty good experience.

The technician from ATR General Services was really knowledgeable, and the service worked out. We had some AC issue and he had to come back a second time, but the technician, George, was excellent. We really like American Home Shield. But we had an issue that was outstanding. It had nothing with ATR though, but we were having some problems with our washing machine, and American Home Shield kinda kept giving us the runaround. They kept wanting the same guy to come out to try to fix it. And he told American Home Shield that it's better to replace it. There's still slight problems there too. So, the guy recommended that it to be replaced. And American Home Shield kept telling him, "Get more parts. Do this, do that." And I think they wasted more money and more time getting him to come back out and putting parts in on a washing machine that needed to be replaced.
American Home Shield does not want to replace things. Other than that, I like the ease of being able to call them. We're satisfied, but we didn't appreciate how that situation was handled. With the coverage that they presently have, American Home Shield is better than most. They cover things that other companies may not cover, and that makes them stand out amongst the competitors. And they don't play a lot of games too.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the fridge and the contractors were great. They came out for service a day or two after I filed the claim. We’re new to the house also and they pointed out little things that they saw that could use improvement and that could be issues down the road. As a new homeowner, that’s always nice. The refrigerator works great now too.

The electrical disconnected in the house and the air conditioner was broken. I went online to submit a claim with AHS then they sent out a tech who showed up on time. He called, repaired the electrical disconnect on the AC, and got done in 25 minutes. The AC's performance has been good since then.

We made an air conditioner claim with American Home Shield and we spoke to good reps. But the issue is not fixed all the way. The water’s still leaking. The contractors came twice, and the ones who came were both good. They said they fixed the problem but again, when my husband was up there, there is still water dripping. It’s not supposed to be dripping. They said the pipes needed to be flushed. They flushed it but the first guy didn’t flush it all the way so the second guy came and he flushed it. We don’t know what the issue is because it’s still not working. My husband is gonna call them today.

The air conditioning unit was recycling constantly and it was not turning off. I called American Home Shield and the contractor came out the next day. The interaction was wonderful and he solved the problem.

Arizona Trademasters came out for a faulty AC unit and they did a great job. The service provided was excellent. They told me what the problem was and they told me what they were gonna replace. Everything's been fine since. I would recommend AHS.

I have paid this company for 6 years and they refuse to reassign a vendor to my case of fixing a simple dishwasher. 3 times out and this vendor never has parts (actually found out they have to come and then call for approval to fix) even on recall to previous fix. Then You can NEVER get a supervisor to speak to and GOOD LUCK contacting corporate, which they pridefully tell you to do, knowing there is no way in doing so. Save your money and time! 0 stars is too many for them! Alison #** hung up on me when I insisted on waiting for a supervisor to "free up" from other calls. Joan #** refused to allow me to speak to her supervisor Kim. Hours on hold same song and dance script hoping you just go away. This call is going on 1 hour 25 minutes. Writing while on hold AGAIN!
Geo said magic number of vendor visits is 3-5, Joan #** first said it was after "Senior Tech" of company comes out then changed to "escalation division" decides, then none can make the call when to change the vendor out. What vendor doesn't have a simple fuse for a dishwasher repair, on a recall, for a Maytag? Answer... The Vendor AHS insists on sending me multiple times with no working dishwasher after 2 weeks.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

We first called about a broken dishwasher in May 2019, Now it's August 2019 and I still don't have an installed and working dishwasher. I have had to spend a combined 4 plus hours on the phone, mostly on HOLD to get anywhere with this company. I believe they serve you so badly that you finally get tired of calling and fix the issues yourself! I asked to speak with a Supervisor, and was put on hold for 25 minutes only to have the woman come back and say the supervisor is still tied up. I waited for the supervisor and she ended up to be just as careless and inept as the service rep. Contractors had to come to my house 7 times already, and my dishwasher is still not installed and working. I would never have signed up for this had I known how truly poor the service is.
NOW I’m trying to notify them online that GE fixed the new replacement machine (which was DOA), but they don’t install. I need the other contractor to come back out to finish installing the washer. However, in order to leave a message/email they charge you another $75! These are really bad people. If you can, stay away from this company!!!

Mariah from American Home Shield called me quickly to address my concerns. She also helped to get a second opinion. The bottom line is even though in my situation, American Home Shield did not cover as much of the cost that I would have liked, they still have better negotiated rates. So if I would have used a company as a regular retail customer without having a warranty company, I would have paid over $2200. It's very frustrating to come off of $1300, so I couldn't have imagined having to come up with even more money. So I recant my one star review and have updated it to a 4 star. I'm still not pleased having to pay so much out of pocket, but I am pleased with the customer service and the attention that was given to try to resolve my issue.

I have been a customer for over a year and this has not proven to be beneficial. I thought it would have been considering that people price gouge all the time and I got the warranty to protect myself from that. So since I've had them, they have come out four times. I have paid 100 to get a light bulb replaced in my fridge, shower/sink unclogged (sink still clogged by the way) (this same visit I asked for the toilet to be looked at and since it magically flushed correctly... No attention was given to it... And I still have problems with it now), they clipped and reattached a wire to the sensor in the garage and now they came out because my AC isn't working properly only to tell me that they only cover about $400 of the cost leaving me with $1300 of the cost. Companies like these are rip offs. I literally should have just put the money that I pay them to the side (I've paid in over $1000 so far) and applied it to all of my home repairs. Hindsight is definitely 20/20.

Unbelievable! It’s summertime in Florida, so of course, my AC went out on Saturday, July 13, 2019. I called my home warranty company, American Home Shield (AHS), on Monday, July 15, and told them I needed someone to come out and fix my AC. They couldn’t get anyone out until Wednesday, July 17. The service technician came out and said he fixed it. He didn’t. The AC went out again right after he left. I called AHS again and they said they could get someone out again on Friday, July 19. So another technician came out on Friday and diagnosed a compressor problem. He said he would not be able to order a new compressor until Monday, July 22, since it’s late Friday afternoon.
Today is Friday, August 3—three weeks since my AC went out. Three weeks of sitting in sweltering Florida heat while this home warranty company comes up with every excuse under the sun as to why they can’t/won’t do their job. I have spent countless hours calling them, holding, listening to their excuses, asking for a supervisor or manager (who is NEVER available), asking for a supervisor or manager to call me back (which they NEVER have), and expressing my sheer exasperation over the lack of communication and customer support. I’ve been to the hospital due to heart problems that are exacerbated by the heat. (At least I got to stay in an air-conditioned hospital one night!)
Bottom line…AHS just doesn’t care. They don’t even care if I die in this heat, which I very well might. They’ll tell you anything just to get you to go away and leave them alone. Today’s excuse, believe it or not, is that they only have two suppliers for my compressor, and both of them are out of stock. Seriously??? All of the AC suppliers are out of stock in the hot summer months? And they’ve been out of stock for the last three weeks? Do they really think I’m buying that??? My parents’ AC went out in their home, and they had a new one installed the very next day. It CAN be done! But not by AHS!
By the way, I had a voicemail from someone named James (no last name) on Monday, July 29. Here is what he said: “Good afternoon. This message is for Cameron **. Hello, my name is James, and I’m calling from American Home Shield. Thank you for taking my phone call. As always, it may be monitored or recorded for quality. I just wanted to call and apologize. I was just on the phone with Kristen. She was the young lady over in the office at Beaches Air Conditioning and Heating.
Folks, we have obviously dropped the ball on this one. It has taken far longer to get the equipment ordered than it really should have. It has only just come to my attention just a few moments ago. I have gone ahead and I have placed the order for the new compressor that is needed, and I have expedited that. We’re going to try to get that into the hands of the technicians just ASAP—as quickly as possible. They, in turn, as soon as they have it, will be calling you and then scheduling the installation to take place.
Just to make you aware, I’m going to go ahead and cover the cost of the new compressor and all of the labor to install that, and per contract section E1, I am going to also covering for up to $10 per pound for coolant. In this case, we will be going back in with seven pounds of coolant. But the not covered portion of the coolant—that portion that is your share—is gonna come to $560.00, I’m afraid. I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to cover for more of that. If you have any questions or any concerns of any sort, please, as always, feel free to call us here at authorizations at 877-489-8320. Thank you so very much. Bye-bye now.”
Now, that was a very nice, very apologetic voicemail, and I thought it meant that finally someone at AHS cared, and that I would be getting some service. Nope! A whole week has gone by with STILL no service and guess what? No one at AHS knows who James is. Nice! The contract precludes filing a lawsuit against the company, and requires arbitration, which is cost-prohibitive. So this company knows they can act any way they wish, and there is absolutely nothing the consumer can do about it.
Be smart and consider any other home warranty company before you waste your money with AHS. It’s very obvious they don’t care AT ALL about their customers. All they want is your money. Then, when you need them most…too bad! Is this company not regulated or licensed by anybody? Do they really get to treat their customers like this with absolutely no accountability? Complaints will be filed with the Better Business Bureau and my congressman, to start. I will get someone to pay attention!

We have had an AHS warranty for 4 years and during that time AHS has repaired our refrigerator, fans, and A/C system among other things. Some repairs have required multiple visits with special-order parts, but the contractors have always been prompt with their initial response as well as their follow-up. Every problem has been solved and we have learned a lot in the process.

I called on June 28, 2019 to get repair on my A/C because it is not working properly. They set me up with fast response cooling. Fast responsed never showed for their scheduled time. I called them and they said they were running late. Showed 2 hrs later and said they didn't have part for repairs. Waited 3 wks in 95 degree weather before fast response called Sunday night for a Monday repair time. Said I couldn't do that at late notice. Told they would call me with another time. A week went by and no call. I finally called and set up for Saturday. Was told I would get a call on Friday for my appt time on Saturday. No call. Call AHS and all they call do is put me on hold and tell me to continue to wait. It has been over a month a nothing. Asked to speak to someone beyond a manager and told by Aki #** that there is no one else to talk to about my service. This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with. Please be aware before using them.

American Home Shield had a contractor fix my air conditioner last year. This year, I called them to have a contractor come out and check it to find out why it wasn’t cooling. The reps were very helpful and the contractor was very respectful. He did his job and told me what was wrong. He fixed it that same day. It’s working but it just has to run a long time. It’s not cooling and now they tell me it’s probably because it’s too small for this footage.

A part needed to be ordered and when the part came in, I called them and they came right out and fixed it. Since then, everything has been going fine.

I was having problems with the faucet and I thought submitting a claim to American Home Shield was a lot easier on the phone but it was a nightmare. They couldn’t find where my account was and didn’t know what to do. It was frustrating. While they were on the phone trying to find my account, I pulled it up online and got it done. If I ever need to do it again, I’ll just do it online. The contractor came out in just a few days and did a great job. The issue was resolved. They were helpful, nice, easy to work with and honest, which was good. I liked them.

I had a leak coming into our bathroom through the ceiling from the second floor. We were afraid that we had pipes leaking behind the shower. We submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. I'm particularly happy with how much faster AHS' reps answer the phone. Two or three years ago, I would be on hold for more than an hour when I need to call them.
The problem were were having was occurring over a weekend. On Saturday night, I wanted to see if AHS could get someone on Sunday. I stopped in the middle of that call and called a local plumber and got the answering machine. And so, I went online and submitted the request there. Their website gave me a set of options to push companies to me. There were choices of three or four different service providers, an option which I don't remember seeing before. When their contractor came out, my wife who was there said that things went very smoothly. I recommend American Home Shield.

There was a squirrel fan in the dryer that failed and that wasn't performing because the part that holds the squirrel fan to the motor was broken. So, the dryer wasn't spinning. I’ve had American Home Shield for years and they respond but you have to be careful to read the reviews about the companies that are sent. Sometimes, it says, "Don't let this guy in your door." So, that makes you wanna ask for a different company.
The guy who came from Express Appliance Repair knew what he was doing. He came out, looked at the problem and then came back with the part and fixed it. He was efficient and there were no problems with him at all. Since then, life is happy. I've recommended American Home Shield to my daughter and other people that I know. It’s something that you need to get especially if you're buying a house and they don't include it as part of the sale. If it’s a used or an older house, then that covers the appliances.

Submitting a claim online to American Home Shield for my air conditioning issue was very easy. The company that they referred to us was very professional. Their tech knocked at the door and introduced himself. I showed him where the unit was upstairs and he took a look at that. He went outside and handled everything very well from there. He was at our place just for a short while but he did a good job. He replaced a wire or some coupling and that seemed to solve the issue. Since then, the air conditioning unit has been fine.

I don’t understand how the claim works. I thought when we bought the deal, it would pay most of it. We had a claim for our air-conditioning and American Home Shield paid $1,000 but we had to pay $1,250 out-of-pocket. We don’t know if AHS just pays so much and then the air-conditioning company can charge whatever they want and we have to pay the difference. That’s the only thing we’re not pleased with. We don’t know if we’re gonna renew with American Home Shield because of that. We were out more money and we have the insurance.

I had a leak underneath my bathroom sink and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. It took a day or two for the contractor to come out and they told us everything that was going on. They communicated with us very well. Since then, everything has been great with the sink.

We’ve used American Home Shield for years and years, and they’re a great company. My recent experience with them was wonderful. Van Rooy Plumbing came out for the water heater because the whole bottom was leaking out. It was rotted and they ended up replacing it with a new water heater. The technician was out in about two hours after I filed the claim and was done in another hour and a half. He was very nice and very courteous. He explained everything and got it done quickly.

It was a pretty easy filing a claim online for my AC and within 24 hours, someone got back to me. American Home Shield sent out a contractor that was professional and dealt with the issue quickly. The only thing I would have wanted was to have a little more explanation as to why.

The freezer was making a noise, and I went online and submitted the claim to American Home Shield. Then, I called but I couldn’t understand what the representative was saying to me. So, she couldn’t answer the questions that I was asking. I could not talk to the manager until later. I got upset so, finally, a manager called me back. The contractor was fantastic. He came in, fixed the freezer and left. He was in and out. Since the repair, the performance has been excellent.

American Home Shield's warranty is good to have and it gives me peace of mind. One time, I had a leak and had a very good experience submitting a claim online. It was easy to make and navigating their website was easy too. I got an email saying that AHS' contractor, Kintex Plumbing would be contacting me. They called me back very quickly and I made an appointment with them. The tech who came out checked the unit and replaced a piece of the pipe. He was pretty conscientious. Since then, the unit has been operating well.

My mom had a home inspection in her place. I was notified that the toilet was loose and so that needed fixing. I filed the claim to American Home Shield online and then we received a phone call from the plumbing company to let us know when they were available. My mom said that the gentleman that came around was very personable. He offered to look at the other toilet too 'cause she has two just to make sure that was okay. It didn't take him very long to fix those so it was actually some minor repair. My mom was really happy.

My upstairs AC wasn't cooling properly. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and it was really easy to do. Previously in Wylie, I had this back and forth story with NorthStar and they were horrible. But then, A+ Comfort Air & Heating came out this time and they were the opposite of the tech from NorthStar. He put a leak stop in my upstairs unit and put in a little bit of Freon. Everything went well.

American Home Shield is the best. I’ve had them for years. I recently submitted a claim online and it was awesome as usual. The contractor came out within 24 hours. They called me the next day. He had a look at the issue, and then he let me know what was wrong and how long it was gonna take to fix it. The only issue I had is that he did not replace the air filter. I had to replace it. And I wasn’t told that there wouldn’t be a filter in there. I just happened to look.

My air conditioner was broken. I called it in to AHS and they made an appointment. Then they had someone call me and when the tech came out, he took care of it. He was very good, very courteous and he knew what he was doing. At first, he tried something and it didn’t work, then he had to come back in a couple of days. But he found out there was a different problem with the AC and that was why he had to do what he did. In the end, he fixed it and so far, the AC's performance has been good.

We just moved in and we needed to rekey all the locks. I called American Home Shield and spoke to their rep. Everything was fine. American Home Shield has been great, so far. I needed a switch as the light kept going on and off, and Louis the technician did the work in a timely manner, and it’s all working great. They also figured out that I needed a new ice maker, and a filter on my oven. There was a delay with working around my schedule and American Home Shield's schedule, but the technician was very professional. I’m a happy girl and I'd recommend them.

I usually call American Home Shield's 1-800 number whenever I submit a claim. The claims process is really bad. The representatives are not very much trained. There is always a 30 to 40 minutes hold time, which is really long, and they are not familiar with the stuff. If you're submitting multiple orders and when the orders go to the company, they are always missing something. They forget to add it and I don't know where the communication issue or error is. We then have to call American Home Shield back and do the whole process again. I wish I can record all these calls if there is someone I can just play those recordings to. American Home Shield used to be very good. They are growing but their customer service is not quite there yet. It wasn't like that before. I had American Home Shield since 2008. They used to have a very smooth process.
I called American Home Shield when our garage door was not opening and remotes were not working. The manual thing was not working at all either. I'm dealing with three issues right now at the same time. I just got fed up. This is an electrical issue. Instead of going back to American Home Shield, I'm gonna add the same thing under this electrical issue and be done with it. I was so tired of calling almost every day.

I had a leaky pipe and filing a claim for it online with American Home Shield was easy. KS Wilson was able to come out in 48 hours. The contractor did a good job. He replaced a section of the pipe. I was completely satisfied with how he explained the issue to me as well as the resolution.

My experience started with a first service provider coming out to check my garbage disposal. It was just making a noise and not turning on. But garbage disposals have an Allen key that you can turn on the bottom and a button that you can press to reset. There are simple fixes that most people don’t know but I knew that and the service provider came in with his Allen key, thinking he was gonna make $75 just turning this Allen key, getting it unjammed and walk away. Well, no. That didn’t happen. He went back and called his boss and said there may be a wire in there. I was standing right there the whole time watching him. He said it was not gonna be covered because it’s an obstruction. Then he said he had to go and he couldn't wait for me to call American Home Shield. I told him I would call American Home Shield and talk to them then he left.
However, he had disconnected my garbage disposal from the dishwasher drain and left it disconnected. That night, I went to turn on my dishwasher and flooded my kitchen. I tried to call the company several times and tell them what the guy did and that my kitchen flooded but they never even returned the call. I called American Home Shield and said that there was no way the guy could have seen a wire and that he didn’t show me any proof that there was an obstruction. I asked for a second opinion and American Home Shield said that they would send out a second opinion but if the contractor finds an obstruction, it would not be covered. But at that point, I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my garbage disposal.
American Home Shield sent out another company and it was a great company. Their office was very nice. They called me to make the appointment and were very professional. The guy came out and he knew what he was doing. He didn’t come out with his Allen key. He came out right away to look at what was wrong and he showed me what was wrong. Apparently, a screw had fallen in there and was jammed in the blade. You could see it from the top. He showed me a picture of it. He said American Home Shield was not gonna cover it because it was an obstruction. It was not wear and tear. So my issue with American Home Shield is what normal wear and tear is on a garbage disposal when the only thing that breaks them is when things fall in them.
American Home Shield was all about asking me to pay $75 to the first guy and saying that if the second guy finds it’s not covered, I would have to pay to the second guy too. I called them back after the second guy came and I told them I was not paying $75 to both companies. The first guy came out, did nothing, decided that there was a wire when there never was a wire, left my pipe disconnected, flooded my kitchen and never even called me. I was not paying them the $75. But I told American Home Shield that I would happily pay the second company and they said they would waive the first fee. So I ended up paying $75 to find out there’s a screw in the dishwasher. I was able to get it out myself and never had to replace my garbage disposal or pay for anyone else to do any more repairs because I knew what was wrong with it.
The end result here is this. American Home Shield used crappy service providers that have zero customer service. They sent the good people second, not the first time. Then they didn't cover anything. At this point, I’ve been with them for 20 years, at least and I’ve been using the warranty on my homes all along. At this point, I’m ready to cancel all my contracts. Folks can get a handyman or anyone else out to do the work for less than the service fee and less than the hassle.

We had a problem with our Samsung clothes washer. It kept malfunctioning. So we called American Home Shield, and someone came out and probably fixed the problem. But it broke again the next day. So he came out again a few days later, and he determined that it has to do something with the computer system so he has, apparently, ordered a part, and now we’re waiting to see whether or not the part is available, or if he has to go ahead and work out a replacement because the washer’s 10 years old. So it’s not yet resolved and I still don’t have a washer. But they have been responsive and they seem to be working in the right direction.

We love American Home Shield. We recently had something wrong with the air conditioner. I have a conditions of breathing problem, and that day was awfully hot. My husband called American Home Shield and it was so nice that the man came right away. It was not even half an hour. It was so wonderful! I was so happy with it. The fan went out and so I filed via the American Home Shield website. Navigating through there was pretty simple and convenient. Kingwood Air Solutions came out and found it wasn't the compressor, it was just the turn on switch, the thing that drops the amperage down. They were awesome, quick, fast, polite, did the job, picked up their mess and left. Everything with them was A1. I am totally satisfied.

We had two different claims on two different air conditioning units. But the American Home Shield online portal somehow got confused. One of them said it was completed and the other one wasn’t. Of the two, I wasn’t happy with one service but with the one with United Air Temp, I was very happy with everything. In fact, my preference would be for us to only be assigned United. The issue then was that when it got very hot, the AC tended to shut down. I went on to American Home Shield's online portal and said our air conditioner was turning off. I just clicked the choices for HVAC, for central air and then “a new claim”. Navigating through the website is easy.
A young man named Miles came out. He's been to our house before and he was absolutely on time. The first time he got out here was at 10:00 PM and that was because it was the earliest he could possibly be here on his schedule, which is exactly what we expected. They told us that they could either show up at any possible time on one day or they could give us a fixed time a day or two later, and I told them to come whenever they could on the early day. Miles showed up when he showed up, which was absolutely fine, and it was a terrific interaction. Miles explained exactly what he was gonna do and what the options were. My experience on this specific transaction was very good.

I usually call American Home Shield when submitting claims and it has been difficult once I get through to the right people because some of them are very hard to understand and I get cut off. We had an AC issue and AHS gave me a phone number of the first people that they recommended to me. The people didn't call me the next day. When I called, the phone kept ringing and ringing, and then it said, “Try to call later,” so I could never get through to them.
It was over 100 degrees, it was hot, so I called AHS back. It took me like three times, and I asked for a supervisor and then I finally got a young man also who had some accent. I talked to him on what was going on and said that I’d prefer to have somebody else because I couldn’t even get through to the contractor. He tried to call the contractor and nobody answered the phones so he then gave me the last ones that came out. They were very nice, courteous, polite, and worked me between other clients so I could get my air back on. They came out whenever they told me they were gonna be there. I liked them.

I called AHS about a claim and their rep set me up for a service. Right after I talked to her, I got a phone call from that company that was coming out to do the service. So, it was immediate. The guy who came out was extremely helpful and the service was done the minute that I asked. I was very pleased and everything went perfectly. He also gave me a couple of suggestions with regard to my air conditioner. and so far, everything is good.

Our air-conditioning system seemed not to be cooling as well as it had been through last summer when it started to heat up in May. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and they let me know that I will hear from the contractor within 24 hours. Air Zone called and they worked around my work schedule. It was pretty quick. It happened within four to six hours. We had an appointment, but they called a day early and said they had an unexpected opening. They accommodated me picking up my daughter from day care and met me at the house after 5PM. They jumped into diagnosing what was going on. They checked the system and ran through everything. It turned out they needed to add some Freon to the system. It was like 33% low of what it should have been at. They were in and out of there in about two hours.
Everything has been working fine and the issue with the cooling has improved. The repair got our cooling system working again and the house to a more comfortable temperature when we needed it. So far, it’s been very easy with American Home Shield. I called for a couple of plumbing issues as well, and it's always timely and pretty simple. I have no complaints. Whenever they send me a contractor, I do a bunch of research and, definitely, I’ve had some anxiety before some of the contractors have shown up. I don’t know if the people writing those reviews are just really picky, or maybe they don’t communicate what their problem is very well, but I have not had any experiences like what I’ve read some people have online. Everything’s been great and I would definitely recommend American Home Shield.

My refrigerator freezer was melting and freezing had I had to increase the temperature to the highest point to get it to freeze at the right level. The first tech whom AHS sent undid the back of the refrigerator and said that the issue was a refrigerant leak. He then said he couldn't fix the problem and that somebody else needed to be called from Sears. The tech from Sears came out and said that the problem had nothing to do with the refrigerant. Instead, there was a seal issue in the freezer and that the thermostat needed to be replaced.
The first tech lied to my face and I didn't appreciate that because he didn't know what he was talking about nor do I understand why he came out to my place at all. Also, when the second guy came out, he didn't know what the first guy said, so he wasn't even looking for a refrigerant leak. Now, I'm not buying a lot of food because I'm afraid I'm gonna end up having a problem.

My experience with AHS has been good so far. I had a leaky toilet and I submitted a claim online for it to them. Navigating their website went fine. All Hours Emergency Plumbing came and did a good job. Since then, everything has been fixed.

American Home Shield was fine in sending out someone to initially check the air conditioning unit, and then they turned me over to a vendor who came out and did an estimate. At that point in time, I sought out other estimates of other vendors separate from American Home Shield. I started looking at quotes from other people. The contractor that American Home Shield assigned to me seemed to be the highest of all the quotes that I got. I'm in a multi-story building, and they told me that a crane was needed and that would be my cost built into their full cost. But they were the only vendor that said they required a crane. So I ended up not using the vendor that American Home Shield offered.
I got a brand-new complete HVAC system, but American Home Shield did not give me the full $1,500 policy coverage for a HVAC, and that is very not good. The refrigerant was different with the new unit than the old one, so the heat unit did not correspond with a new condenser that was gonna be up on the roof. They didn't match. But I was never reimbursed for the heat situation, only for the condenser.

American Home Shield sent CRC Appliance for the refrigerator. We had a leak near where the filter is for the waterline for the ice maker. And CRC looked at it, figured out that was what it was, and left. They were here maybe five minutes and then they said they had to order a part. The contractor was very polite and professional. They came back the following week. It took them 20 minutes to put it back in, and they were done, and it's been working great since.

I called American Home Shield around three years ago, and it delved on the vendor that they sent out. They were gouging not only American Home Shield, but they were gouging me. They didn't do the best they could and they didn't do anything. I got a little elevated. So when I called in for my AC this time, I made it clear to American Home Shield that I wanted somebody that was gonna come out and wasn’t gonna be like that. The person from American Home Shield heard me and sent me out a real good company, and a good guy.
The AC started making noise and then it stopped altogether. The technician was real knowledgeable. He asked me where my filter was, and when we pulled that thing down, we saw all that dust in that raggedy filter. So that was one thing. And then we went to the back and he gave me some tidbits about the unit, which was good. He told me that the folks from some of the companies are working on commission so they gotta try to sell something. So it made sense why the dude before was gonna charge me all that for Freon, which I did not need. I've had American Home Shield for almost 20 years and I've submitted claims for the washing machine, the dryer and then the air conditioner. I’m a person that doesn’t use it unless I really, really, really need to. But American Home Shield has been good money.

When I couldn't get water to the refrigerator, I submitted a claim online and it was much better than trying to wait for a person. I had control and it's easier when I can do it at my own convenience. I felt good about it. AM PM Plumbing, the contractor that came out, was very good. They had to get the piece and get that approved, and they kept me up all the time which was great. They also did my water heater and they were excellent both times they were here. All in all, I've had a very good experience with American Home Shield. I just moved in, so I was very surprised how quickly they responded.

I made a claim for my microwave and the online process was significantly easier than calling in. After the tech got here, we found out that the control board went out. All the buttons and lights worked, but it wouldn’t kick on and start heating. The tech cleaned up after himself and did a good job. Unfortunately, it took quite a long time to get the control board in. The timetables on some of these claims are a bit excessive. This claim took almost two months, and with my air conditioner before that, it took over a month. Still, I plan on recommending AHS to the next homebuyer.

I like submitting my claims to American Home Shield over the phone. I like to hear the other person’s voice, and noticing my concerns, and taking my needs in consideration. I know online is easier, but I like the phone calls. I had a technician come and look at the trash compactor when it had a really, really bad odor. I also noticed that it was making a stuttering sound when I pushed it to get it going. It was like it wouldn’t spin around. The tech said everything was fine. The odor is gone now, but I don’t use it anymore because I’m afraid that it will get stuck. The tech was very knowledgeable. I asked other questions, and he didn't seem like trying to rush and get out here. He actually explained to me what I can do when a certain case happens. And explained to me where the stuff goes and take out the little pipes and clean them out as much as I can. So, I appreciate that a lot.

American Home Shield sent Tommy D Appliance Repair to fix my oven and my washing machine. The oven won't come on and the washing machine wouldn't wash or agitate. The claim was submitted on a Friday and since the tech was on dispatch, he came on a Tuesday. He was very professional and friendly.

I put in a claim with American Home Shield because my dishwasher had some flooding going on after a party. I was about to leave out of town with my house in the hands of a home sitter, so I needed to get stuff done quickly. I did the claim online over the weekend and it took a little bit more time for me to get a call back. But I was not surprised with that given it was the weekend. This was the second time I’ve used a claim with American Home Shield, and the same local provider came out. The person that came over was wonderful, and fixed the dishwasher. It was easy and awesome. I love it.

My AC just quit working. It was blowing but the fan in the condenser unit wasn’t turning in the unit itself. And Weatherwise was sent by American Home Shield and the contractor did something and it's going now. My experience was awesome. The contractor came out the very next day. I called Weatherwise the next morning myself because American Home Shield said I could call them, and the contractor said if he had time he’d get out here. He did and when he was here, he said he didn't even need to go in the house. I was at work and it was really convenient because my daughter knew the person who was working on it. So far, so good.
I'd prefer Weatherwise any time I call now. There was Network Plumbing & Heating that American Home Shield used too that I really liked. In fact, I even hired them to come and do maintenance on my AC and my furnace every year because I trust them. I've had people come in and tell me, “Oh, this is wrong, that is wrong,” and then I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out for free, and it was Network Plumbing and Heating who said, “There's nothing wrong with this.” I need to find companies I can trust.

I had a leak in my water heater so I called AHS and the rep told me that a contractor was gonna call me. I called on a Friday and expected not to hear from the contractor probably till Monday, and he showed up about 4:00 in a Saturday afternoon. After he was here and I went upstairs, there was notification on my email. I hadn't looked at the email because they said the contractor would call me. That was what I was waiting on. I don’t know when I got those emails, but there was one there telling me that he was gonna show up. And that did not give me a time.
The contractor was telling me that the pressure valve is there in case something happens with the city line and the pressure builds up. He was pleasant and all that, but he was telling us that when the county or city works on the water, it gets surge and this and that. I told him, “We’ve been here for 33 years and we have never had that problem.” The only time we ever had a problem with the water heater is when it's broken. I have two elements. It’s a 50-gallon. He checked the top element and that was dry, so that solidified what he thought was correct. And I showed him the water in the back where it gravitated to. He said, “That’ll clear up,” only it didn't. So, he vacuumed the pan out and I still have water all over the back behind the heater and the washer.
Nevertheless, I bought off on what he said, but my wife didn't. He left and it was still leaking and was pretty bad. It’s about half-an-inch-thick water. Because the thing sits on my garage and it’s between my washer and dryer I wasn’t 100% sure that maybe it was the washer. So, Saturday, we pulled the washer out and there were no leaks with the washer, and it was coming from the pan from the water heater.
First, I tried to call the contractor. Nobody answered the phone. I called back to Home Shield, and he looked at what was done. He said, “They've completed that service.” I said, “They can say what they want to, but I still have a water leak in my water heater.” And the rep said, “Are you disputing that?” I said, “Yeah. I still got a leak in my water heater, still, now.” He said, “Let me get you a second opinion.” And they sent out somebody else. That guy, Joe, came out here Monday morning. That was as soon as they could get me in.
I told him what the first contractor told me, and he checked the PVC pipe from the release valve. That was bone-dry. What he had pointed out was if our heater gets above 120, it’ll release the water to take the pressure off. He said, “The street valve is in line.” He pointed to a brass fitting. “And so, that’s your street pressure, water coming from the street, that that stops that, and that has to be on there.” So, the person that AHS sent out first didn't know what he was talking about. After looking at it he pulled the washer out, which the other guy never did. And he said, “Yeah, you got a problem.” And he went to the bottom element and pulled the face off of it, and it was wet as a devil. So, he said, “You got a busted tank.”
After that Joe wrote up to AHS that I need a new tank. And we probably won’t get the tank till either Wednesday or Thursday, but if it comes in Friday, we won’t be able to put it in till Monday. But I said, “Fine.” About two hours later, someone from American Home Shield called me, told me they had got his report and that they were replacing the tank. The only thing they said that was all me with it was the pan. We need to replace the pan also. And they said, “That’s $35 and we don’t cover pans.” I don’t have a problem with that. I’m happy now. AHS listened to me when I called them back and said I needed someone else to come out here. They sent me somebody and they sent someone who’s been doing it for 13 years and knew what he was looking for.
And I didn't dislike Thomas, the first contractor. I just realized that he had made a bad diagnosis. It’s just like doctors. Sometimes you get a good one, and sometimes you get one not so good. And I can’t fault American Home Shield. They told me it’s completed. You have to suck it up. Another story and I would've probably been cancelling. But American Home Shield worked with me when I asked for a second opinion, because I told them, “You’ll just send that same company back out.” And the rep said, “No. I wanna give you a completely separate company.” That was his idea. Not mine. And so, I’m happy with American Home Shield.

The first time I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for my refrigerator, my experience was not that great. It took almost eight days to get something done. When the tech from Mississippi finally showed up, he got the refrigerator back on very quickly. That was rough and I almost pulled the plug on the claim because it was so complicated. AHS would activate people and then whenever those people would call me, they would tell me that they don't work on a particular model.
There was a contractor in Covington who said that my location was outside their jurisdiction. My location is in a little community called Sun, which is in St. Tammany Parish, but unfortunately, our mailing address is Bogalusa. The person whom I was speaking to then told me where the line was and it was two miles down the road. That was a little disheartening. Another time, their contractor Barber's Hardware and Repair declined the refrigerator repair I requested because they didn’t know how to do that particular type. AHS has contractors under certain restrictions and their payment is all set up. With the refrigerator claim, I could've called somebody and had them out the next day.
AHS should have a bigger pool of contractors and more of them in my area. They should also have a list of everything I have. So, when I make a call, their reps can determine that my refrigerator is a Frigidaire and ask their contractor whether or not they worked on that. By doing that, the contractor can decline right then and avoid wasting a bunch of time.
More recently, my AC was low on Freon and had quit cooling. Barber's seems to be American Home Shield's go-to person. Their tech came out with the owner of the business to do the service call and he went above and beyond the call of duty. Barber’s pulled the reins back on my first experience and performed really well. Their tech was very professional, personable and friendly.

When I submitted a claim for the air conditioning unit that was not working, all I did was call American Home Shield then talked about it, and everything else took care of itself. The contractor came, picked it up, and got a new one back. It was a pleasant experience.

My wife's mom had American Home Shield and I was like we should get it too. We've had it for two months now and our claims experience was good. My wife filed a claim for our dryer because it wasn't drying anymore. Reliable Property Solutions was our given contractor and their technician was awesome. He got everything done on the same day. American Home Shield is awesome too and I told all my friends about them.

I've had American Home Shield since ’99. We have an issue with a contractor that they kept sending to my house Advance Appliances, so I just told them, “Just do me a favour. Don’t never send them to my house no more.” But every time I try to book it online, a lot of times, it’d be Advance Appliance, so I had to sit on the whole call. So this time, I just called to eliminate all that. The lady said, “Okay, we got it set up. They’ll be calling you.” They never called, so I looked it up. I pulled up my account online, and it’s saying that they're waiting on me to call the contractor. But I never had to do that for 40 years. That me pissed off. So I called, set up the appointment with the lady, and everything was cool.
Then the guy called me that morning and gave me a 2-hour window. It was 10:00 to 12:00 and they never showed up. He called me 9:30 and told me, “We’re running a little late.” 12:30 I did not hear anything. So I made a call and the guy answered the phone and it was like he was mad at me. I said, “Sir, I’m just trying to call for a follow-up. Y’all called me this morning, but I ain’t heard nothing.” He said, “Well, I told you. We was gonna be getting somebody out there, and the first job ran a little longer.” I said, “Well, you ain’t gotta get rude. I’m the customer. I’m just calling to ask you.” That pissed him off even further.
He said, “Well, if you want to, you can just call them back and tell them to get you somebody else.” So I got a lot of issues. I knew that was gonna go real ugly, so I just hung up. I called AHS back, and they gave me another contractor. That other contractor called me to say, “We had a cancellation. Can we come on now?” I said, “Let’s do it.” They came, the guy went and got a part, fixed it, and was gone. I’m very satisfied.

My experience with American Home Shield was excellent. I made a claim over the phone and the gentleman that came did an excellent job. He came in, had the parts and everything was fine. He got it repaired in no time at all, and he left. Everything is working great right now.

I've been with American Home Shield for eight years. When I submitted a claim for my washer that was leaking water, their reps were professional. Surfside Appliances came and provided great service. They looked at the washer and determined that it couldn't be repaired. They said they would forward that information to American Home Shield, and I'd be getting a call from them. The guys were professional and on time. And it was a great experience.
