I had an issue with the water heater and I wasn't sure what was wrong with it. I filed a claim with AHS and they sent out Clog Busterz. When the techs got here, they figured out what was wrong. They’re also the best company that AHS ever sent me out of all the companies I’ve dealt with over 15 years. They were on time, which was shocking. I live way out in the country and AHS doesn’t have people most of the time for me to use. The last person they sent out here was two hours away and they lied to AHS about coming here. It was bad. Initially, the plumber called me and he asked me to send him some pictures so he'd know what he'd be coming to look at. Then he charged me for a service call but he never came to the house. Still, AHS believed him. But I'm glad that AHS found someone better than them. Clog Busterz is great and I'd stick with them in this area. It was, for a change, an extremely pleasant experience and I would highly recommend AHS.

We had a problem with our clothes washer. We had a noise, it was leaking, and it was also making another noise. I called AHS and spoke to a representative. It was very good. We got a response fairly quickly, that somebody was gonna contact us, and it took a few days before somebody came out each time. It was a reasonable amount of time.
Hornet Appliance Services came out and they fixed the leaking part. It did quite well, but the noise didn’t go away. The gentleman did not listen to my wife to understand that there were two problems. So, I called AHS again and told them the contractors didn’t do the second part. And so, they came back out again, and they worked on it hard. They had to take the problem of the washer back to their shop and worked on getting the parts off, but they were able to do that and brought it back in. It was all taken care of. So, I was very satisfied. It's been working great since then.

It was super easy to send in a claim to American Home Shield when I had an air conditioning issue. They were pretty on time in getting back to me, but the AC company was awful. They came out six times but they never went up in the attic. I discussed this with the American Home Shield rep and then they ended up getting a different company, who solved the issue within a day. They figured out the issue within five minutes because they went up into the attic. It was all resolved at the end, but it ended up being an expense for American Home Shield because the first company kept getting sent out. I always recommend American Home Shield and I'll continue to do so.

We had an AC issue and so I called the American Home Shield toll free number. The rep that I talked to was very responsive. We have two AC units so we weren’t extremely concerned but she knew that we were in the Midwest and that it was extremely humid and hot. She said that the contractor would come and that she had contacted them. J & J Mechanical came out. They were extremely professional, timely, and we couldn’t be more pleased. The AHS rep kept calling us back saying that AHS made the approval for the repair, just needed to get a part and that it’s on order, and that it’s gonna take about four days. I really appreciate her continuous communication and update. After a week, we were still having the same problem. I called AHS because J & J had to come back out again. AHS was so prompt and seamless.

We filed a claim to AHS to get an air conditioner problem fixed. I did online and it was very easy. They got back to me right away telling me who the company was and the company got back to me, sent me an email that evening, and then the next day, they were out. The contractor called me to tell me he was on his way, came out to the house. I told him what the problem was, he checked it out, and we discussed what the remedy was, and he got it taken care of.

I tried to do my claim online to American Home Shield but I waited for several weeks and nothing ever happened. I never got a call so I could call them back and for some reason, it didn’t go through. So, it should’ve been my fault. Once I talked to somebody on the phone, they got it straightened out. When Sears came out, they looked at my microwave, and determined that it was bad. It also wasn’t safe to use and it was replaced. It took about a week to get the new one. I’ve had American Home Shield for years and we’re all good.

We had a situation with our refrigerator. The wife had noticed that it was leaking on Sunday. I thought it was just something, maybe a door left open and my ice started melting so I made sure everything was shut. We came back a couple of hours later and everything in the freezer was thawed out. The refrigerator temperature was clearly decreasing. It was still cool but warmer. So, we immediately called American Home Shield. Monday morning, we were contacted by the company that came out Tuesday to look at it.
At that point, we’d already pulled everything out in the refrigerator and put them in our second refrigerator downstairs in the garage. We threw away probably $200 worth of frozen food. The first guy walked in, and in like 15 minutes, he said they couldn’t do anything with us. He thought all of our Freon was gone. He doesn't do that and he was gonna call American Home Shield and have them send somebody else out. He was very nice, but it was kinda weird that somebody would come out to fix your refrigerator, and they don't fix refrigerators.
American Home Shield referred us over to another company, Frix Appliance. That guy came out on Thursday and it was amazing. He came in, had the refrigerator part in no time, got back in there, checked out a few things, and he said, “Okay, got it. I figured this out. This is easy. It’s not your Freon. It’s your compressor. It’s extremely expensive to repair on of these. Let me contact American Home Shield, see what we need to do.”
His customer service was super. He was super-friendly and very informative. I talked to him about what are the best machines on the market and what are the ones that are least likely to break so that we don't have to call American Home Shield. He did an all around great job. After that, we were contacted by American Home Shield and informed us that they weren’t gonna fix the refrigerator. They were gonna replace it. An email was sent to us and they gave us a bunch of different options of refrigerators to have delivered straight to the house.
My wife and I had just been out the day before looking around to see what was out there and how much they cost, kind of expecting that we would just be given an amount of money to go spend. I was very pleased to see that I didn't have to go spend it ‘cause he just picked one off the site. We found one that was a really good deal. It was a nicer model but it was marked down and on sale. It was brand-new and met all the requirements as far as warranty and stuff that American Home Shield had. We were able to go out and purchase that one and just scanned the receipt and sent that information to American Home Shield. We’re just waiting for our reimbursement.
I’ve had several incidents over the years. Our air conditioning unit has gone down, it seems like every other year for the last four or five years, and being in the middle of July and August with the air conditioning down for a week to two weeks is not very comfortable and creates very hostile customers. There have been multiple incidents where I’ve not been real happy. But as I look back over 20 years of being a customer with American Home Shield, all the incidents I’ve ever had, they have sent people out and fixed. It took a little work to get to that point, but my son just bought a house last month and we strongly recommended American Home Shield. He is now one of their customers as well.
Good afternoon Terry,
We strive to provide you with a great team of contractors and an even better customer service experience. We hope you continue to enjoy your AHS warranty!

It didn’t seem like it was gonna be something that was so straightforward, but they did and fixed it, which was nice.

The air conditioning unit was not satisfying itself to where it would continually run all day long. And so, Ambient Air Heating & Cooling came out a couple of times and diagnosed it as the damper motor, and came out to replace the motor at one time, and they replaced the damper motor. And they keep replacing parts until they can’t get the part anymore, and then they’ll replaced the unit. So I just replaced the damn thing because Home Shield wouldn’t replace the unit. I’m putting money into this, and my time, and I just got tired of it. So, we got a brand new unit put in yesterday by Ambient. So far, it’s okay. I submit my claims with Home Shield over the phone and their claims representatives were okay. But I don’t think I’ll be renewing my contract with Home Shield. I really am not pleased with Home Shield. My experience was frustrating.
Sharon,
I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I will follow up with you in an effort to assist you with your unresolved matters regarding this request. Thanks for your patience.

I had already purchased three filters before and I’ve messed up a couple trying to get the water filter in my refrigerator changed before I called American Home Shield the first time last year. The company they sent out covered the replacement filter because the little connector thing was broken off. Now I was putting the last filter I had in backwards. They sent GE out, and because it was GE, the filter wasn’t covered, and so I had to purchase the filters. A little piece of the last one I had has broken off but it wasn’t so bad that it couldn’t be used and so the GE guy was able to do it with the filter I had. He was able to update the information on the refrigerator with his computer and he was also very helpful in showing me how to put the filter in myself so I wouldn’t have problems in the future.
I’ve had other calls that I had to make to AHS and I’m very satisfied with them that’s why I added them to my other house where my granddaughter lives and it’s been trying to get the air conditioner fixed. It’s an older unit and the provider decided to fix it instead of replacing it. The home is in the country and the provider is coming from somewhere outside the area. AHS only had one person who could work on it so it took longer to get somebody out there. Everything worked fine for a couple of days, and now, we’re trying to get somebody out there again because it stopped working.
Good afternoon Donna,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The AC died and we had to endure 16 days in Texas without air conditioning. I’ve spent over $300 on fans and luckily, the two big bedrooms have window units that we just left running, we didn’t turn them off at all. We submitted a claim with AHS and I called to submit this claim like I always do. In all the years I’ve had the warranty, I’ve only made a couple of them and the reps I talked to were pretty nice.
It took a week for the first company to be able to come out and work on our AC. But they really didn’t wanna deal with it, so they said it was hail damaged. And American Home Shield said that they’re not responsible for acts of God, so I was pretty much on my own. But I asked them if I could have a second opinion because in my contract, it says you can have a second opinion. So, they sent Adam’s Air out and the guy said that there was a little bit of hail damage on the outside, but the problem was not hail damage. The problem was it was just old. So, I got a brand new air conditioner. The guys with Adam’s Air were also amazing and very nice.

I had three claims in a row with American Home Shield. My central air went out and they sent somebody to check that out. The techs told me that they were gonna replace the central air. In the process, they had to move the old water heater, 'cause the coil wouldn't fit. In the process of doing that, it started leaking. That became the second claim. Their contractor, Showers Plumbing, came out and replaced the water heater. While they were doing that, the shut-off valve inside the house started leaking and I had to file another claim and they came back out to replace the shut-off valve in the house. That caused another problem.
The shut-off valve, to be turned off inside, had to shut off outside. So, the city had to get involved because the shut-off valve wound up being in a tree and the tree roots grew around it. They had to come out and dig up my yard. Showers Plumbing came in and went on until they had to check-in back to do the valve. They finally came back and put the valve in once the water was shut-off. When the city was done and they turned the water back on, the water still leaked at the shut-off valve at the faucet. I had to call Showers back out and they tightened the pipe. The tech said that he must have been weak the day that he fixed the issue as it took a full half turn to tighten the pipe.
The guys from Showers were nice but then they don't double-check their work. When the valve started leaking after they replaced the water heater, they should have come back in a couple of days to check or called me to find out if I’ve checked it. Because I didn't look over at the valve, I wasn't in a spot to look at the valve until the floor was wet and the carpet was wet down there in the basement.
I also filed a claim with AHS for my AC. However, I got a letter from Frontdoor, which AHS is part of and they stated my contract number with AHS. The letter states that it confirms that the air conditioning code requirement is or is not covered under the home contract. It also states that on the contract, system or appliance upgrades, repairs or replacements are required to comply with any Federal state or local laws, regulations, ordinances, utility regulations, or building and zoning codes. The letter says that after reviewing my contract, I'll find that the repairs and replacement of such nature that I'm asking for are not covered. Though my AC is fine now because they replaced it, I was pissed when I got the letter. AHS' can't just do my AC repair then turn around and tell me that they're not gonna cover it.

The AC was not cooling off. The guy from Phil's Good A/C & Heating came in, and he had to replace an expansion valve. Then, after that, the AC is now working fine. They did a good job on that one. I submitted that claim with AHS on the phone and their rep was okay. I used American Home Shield for many years. We've had them on my other property, and we had no issues. But we got another service request, and they didn't fix the issue yesterday. My account was paid in full, but they told me, "No. You're still not on as an active account because you still have to pay." So, they wouldn't let me place another second request right away. It took me about two hours for me on the phone with multiple people in order for them to understand that I paid.

I filed a claim online, but it said something about our account number was different. So I also made a phone call to American Home Shield. I went through an automated service and it only took about three minutes. I received a call the next day, got the appointment set up, and then, the actual technician called to make sure about address. He was there within the correct timeframe, and he was awesome. He explained and showed everything to us. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything major that needed to be done. We just needed it kinda cleaned out. It was working a little too hard because it was all gunked up. He showed us and gave us some tips, so he was very helpful. This was our second claim with American Home Shield, but we’ve never had any issues with follow-throughs.

The AC people don’t work after hours so I called back to American Home Shield and they told me find a company that will and they'd pay me back. I called C and K and they came right out and fixed it. C and K are always good guys. I’ve been with them before. I had to do an outside authorization and so I had to pay for it myself but I wish the outside authorization process was easier. I had to call like 17 different numbers and talk to three different departments. There's an outside authorization department then there is the work order authorization department then there is the contractor work order authorization department. It’s a nightmare.
It needs to be one person with a name that I can just call back every time and they know who I am and they can just say, “Yeah. We’ll get that check in the mail tomorrow. We’ve received your stuff.” That would be nice. American Home Shield said, “Just mail in your invoice and we’ll send you back the check.” That was two, three weeks ago. My experience is terrible until I get my refund check for 600 bucks. I’m still waiting on it and it's taking a little bit longer. I haven't even got a confirmation that they got it. Nobody reached out to me and said, “Oh, we got your invoice. We’ll start the process on that.” I got no email or nothing, so I don’t know.
I can definitely understand your frustration Thomas. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to follow up with you until your a/c issue is resolved. I look forward to assisting you.

My AC unit had stopped cooling. The fan was blowing, but it was blowing hot air. I called the claim in over American Home Shield's customer service number and talked to a representative. The expectation they gave was the contractor would be out within 24 to 48 hours and they kept that expectation. My neighbor filled in for me when the technician from Dana AC and Heating came. The technician explained what he did to get the system back up and running and left a receipt. The AC unit has been operating like a champ since they fixed it up. Here in Texas, the summertime is grueling. You really can’t function if you’re home during the summer and you don’t have any cool AC air blowing on you. Because of the repair, we were comfortable in our home and we didn't have to worry about going out to get a hotel because it was too hot at home. It was a great experience and I’ll recommend American Home Shield.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for one of our AC units. It wasn’t cooling and then we turned it off for more than an entire day. And then, by the time we turned it back on, it was a little better. So, it wasn’t horrible by the time the guy got here. There was a gentleman from the same company that came three weeks before. And he let some Freon out. And because it was within the 30 days, I’m wondering if we still pay the $100. When the second guy came in, he said, “Well, there was a connector that was bad.” And I don’t think that was going on when the first guy came. Both times, they really did a great job. These people are probably the best folks that AHS has ever sent me on an issue. As a matter of fact, this last time, the guy needed to come the next day, and I had an appointment and I couldn’t. So, we moved it to the following day and they gave me a window. They were great to work with.

The hot water heater blew up and died. I ended up calling for AHS to submit a claim and they sent out Mando's Plumbing that very next morning. Mando said that he was here just to take pictures and for the evaluation then he'd make a recommendation to Home Shield that I needed a new water heater because this one bit the dust. I asked if he was gonna install it and he said no. But eventually, he said that AHS had to provide the water heater and he'd install it. Roswell is a small town and we get aliens to land here, but we can't get deliveries here. So, it took two full days for a hot water heater to get delivered to Mando and for him to come install it.
On the day he first came out, Mando sat out in my front yard for 10 minutes and sent his report online immediately. Then he said he was gonna have an answer in two hours. So I thought I was gonna be getting a water heater Monday afternoon, because he came Monday morning. But it happened on Wednesday. In the mean time, I just shut off the circuit breaker to the hot water heater, then we turned off the water just to the hot water heater. So I had cold water and I could flush the toilets, but no showers from Sunday to Wednesday. We're both working professionals, so that was really hard to go over three days. The holdup happened because after AHS gave permission for Mando to install the new heater, they had to go to a supplier in Roswell. The supplier was gonna deliver it to Mando and after we waited through Tuesday, I told him that I'd go pick up the thing. He said he'd get it instead, so he went and did that.
But Mando's Plumbing did a good job. It's pretty much a mom-and-pop plumbing thing because their home address is their mailing address. I also had to pay an extra, almost $300, because I had to move my water softener unit to get to the hot water heater. Home Shield doesn't pay for that, so I had to pay that and I sent them a check. They're nice and good people. I was just disappointed in the timeframe. All in all, it was a great and easy experience. AHS did everything they said they would do and I was really glad I had the Home Shield protection. I know it saved me a lot of money. This was my first claim and I've had the warranty for two years.

My most recent claim with American Home Shield went fine. It was a rekey service because we just purchased our first home. And so, the gentleman came in and handled it without any issues. He was prompt and on time. It was super quick and easy. I did the claim online. I signed up for an account using our information that our Realtor provided, and then I made the request through this. The website was fairly straightforward. And I'm fairly tech-savvy, so it wasn't an issue at all. I don't think there was any significant hang-ups.
I submitted my claim later in the evening on Sunday. And they said they'd get back to me in 24 hours. And so, Monday mid-day, I hadn't heard anything from anyone, so I gave the dispatch a call. And they were like, "Oh, we'll get back to you in less than 24 business hours." And so then, I eventually got a call on Tuesday about it, but they were able to schedule me in the same week. So, apparently, 24 business hours includes like the complete Monday before the Tuesday. So, that was the only thing, and that was such a minor hang-up, it doesn't even count. The contractor was friendly and very easy to work with, and he was in and out of here very quickly. He was very knowledgeable, too.

The house wasn’t really cooling normally as it was supposed to. We submitted a claim to AHS and they recommended Coleman Services to do the AC and look at it. Another time, we had an issue with American Home Shield when our hot water heater went out on a Saturday and we didn't get anybody to come out until Tuesday. That wasn't pleasurable as we have two kids and my mother-in-law and I just had surgery. Back then, I initially filed a claim and they had 24 hours to find a contractor. They couldn't find anyone so they allowed me to do it. AHS ended up covering everything. AHS can have better customer service on weekends. Even so, when we had our house rekeyed by their contractor, that went pretty smoothly.

I had a service call for my air conditioner that led AHS here not long ago. That took a while. The tech made it out within 2 days but then some of AHS' contractors don't have any spare parts onboard. They have to come to your house to find out exactly what the problem is. When they identified the part, it took them another three or four days. AHS' contractors should have some parts because five or six days is a long time to go without any kinda air or something in the house. When someone has one of the newer houses with good insulation, it doesn't take to long for it to get hot during this time of year.
Another time, I had a garbage disposal that was leaking on the bottom and the claim went the same way. The guy came out to look at the issue, but the claim took him two days because his company didn’t have the part at their warehouse for my garbage disposal. More recently, the RGI right above my stove went out and knocked out about six electrical plugs in my house. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and had a good time going through their claims process. When I call, they usually try to get somebody within a day. I had a quick response with the electrical company that came to fix that. Despite the issues, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield.

I had two claims with AHS. One was for the air conditioning and one was for the plumbing. The air conditioning contractor had to come out three different times, but they were really professional and awesome. You hear different stories about these warranties, whether they work or not, but I was surprised and very pleased with my experience. I spoke with a representative from AHS and our interaction was fine. The techs who came out were all good as well. On their first visit, the motherboard on the furnace went bad. But when the second individual came out, it looked like he might have shorted the thermostat out. So, I had to go and buy one myself. But they came and replaced everything else.

I had an issue with my refrigerator. I called AHS and I literally noted that they came out for it before. And the rep went through the process of making sure that I didn’t have to pay because the problem wasn’t fixed the first time. So now, they got someone to come out here and the problem was resolved. The contractor was very nice and asked me questions. And he made sure he got the problem fixed, and was sorry that it wasn’t fixed the first time.

My refrigerator was not cooling properly. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online on Friday afternoon and then I got a call on a Sunday evening for scheduling. A guy came out on Monday and he was able to fix it. We saw there was a fan that was not working. He was able to replace it out of his van, and it was all done within 20 to 30 minutes. The service was professinal and timely. It was the service that I was expecting, and the refrigerator has returned to normal operating conditions. I was satisfied with my experience.

I recommend American Home Shield. So far, they’ve been a good company. I’ve been happy with them. I’ve called for several things and most recently, I filed a claim for my air conditioning. It wasn’t cooling properly. I did it online and the whole process was extremely easy. When the contractor came, I explained and told him what the problem was, and he got to the root of the problem. My AC has been working since.

Our air conditioning was not working and we called in a claim to American Home Shield. The initial call and visit were fine. We had a wonderful experience with their contractor who was topnotch. That experience was way better than my service was continuing with American Home Shield. We never got communication from them. Every time I called, it was a different agent giving me a different story. I was told I would be getting a phone call back within 24 hours, and I never did. The stories that I had been told were not true and they had sat on trying to get a second opinion for two weeks before approving the claim for anybody to fix the air conditioner. So, we were sitting over here in over 90-degree heat with no air conditioning. The very last person that I talked in escalation was a manager and she was absolutely fabulous. She helped me out and really dug into the issue. Everything else in between that was horrible.

The performance has been good since the repair and no more cherry pits.

Working with AHS on this repair has been a disaster. The first contractor was not a certified Samsung repairman and had no idea what was wrong. He guessed on a part without even pulling the fridge out and looking at anything. After waiting a week for the part to come in and for him to install it, the fridge still was not fixed. AHS set up an appointment with a certified Samsung repairman. I was told they would be there the next day. They did not show up. I called AHS and was told a different story, that the appointment had been set up for the next week. I told them it needed to be earlier, that was too long to wait. They changed contractors on me again, only to be able to get an appointment one day earlier. After waiting another week, the new repairman came out and diagnosed the refrigerator as needing two parts. He told me he was going to let his office know and they would get the parts ordered.
I didn't hear anything from them after a few days so I called. They told me they had one of the parts but the other one was discontinued and they couldn't find it. They were going to let AHS know so AHS could try and locate the part. I heard nothing for several days. I called AHS and they told me they hadn't gotten a report of the problem from the contractor. I called the contractor, and they told me that AHS was looking for the part. I was given the run around for multiple phone calls to both parties. Nobody ever called me back to let me know the status, I was always the one inquiring. I would look on the website and it said the parts were ordered. I would call AHS and they would tell me they were waiting for authorization. It seemed like no one knew what was going on, to me it seemed like a stall tactic, poor incompetent business practices, or both.
Finally I was told the parts were located, ordered, and would arrive to the contractor Aug. 2. They did not. I waited a few days before calling both the contractor and AHS. When I called the contractor, I had to leave multiple messages and asked for them to call me back. They didn't. I called AHS again and asked for them to check on the parts, get a tracking number, look into why the contractor had not received them. The AHS person told me they could not get a tracking number and would look into what was going on. They said they would have an answer for me the next morning and would call me. They did not. I just called again, on August 8, and had to start all over with my story. I asked the person if I could have the number for the parts department. They gave it to me but told me they would call it first while they put me on hold. I was disconnected. This is the second time I was disconnected from them.
I called the parts number she gave me and talked to someone. I was on hold for a very long time, but she was able to come back with an answer. The supplier had never received the order. Total incompetence on AHS part department. The lady I talked to told me she was going to reorder the parts, that it should take just a couple of days for them to get to the contractor. I have been without a working refrigerator since the middle of June. The handling of this whole situation has been unacceptable.

On May 20th we submitted a service request. United Air Temp responded. A few days later collected deductible. A few weeks later attempted to install a compressor, requested 1,000.00 payment for coolant. Next morning we woke up to our upstairs bedroom and attic filled with a burning smell and residue of smoke. We call the Vendor immediately to ask if we should call the fire department to inspect the roof and attic. They said they would send a supervisor ASAP. John the supervisor came out the same day and identified that the technician had not completed the install and left the unit running after he noticed he did not have enough coolant on his truck but still took payment for the supplies. No unit fixed that week. Fast forward United played ghost service calls showing up as late as 10:00pm and never fixed the unit. American agreed to switch vendors and recommended Pasadena Air and heat, LLC in Maryland.
They came out on July 1, 2019 and recommended yet another compressor because the previously incomplete installed part was completely burned out. They collected a deductible of $100.00 and promised that we would received communication about the part being ordered and the first available install after the part is received. Needless to say we haven’t been receiving any voluntary calls. When July 20th rolled around along with 100 degree temp and storms that caused us to shut windows our bedrooms at night were 84 degrees and and as high as 96 degrees on the highest days of summer humidity. I am calling American Home Shield each day to receive broken promises from Customer Service Reps that tell me "I am sorry you have to experience this but the Vendor has not answered because it's outside of their business hours.
I heard this until August 2019 and now I call at least twice a day and still no call from the vendor but I was told the part was delivered at local distributor two weeks ago and that the vendor would be calling me. On 8/6/19 I call and was told the Pasadena sent an email to Contractor Relations and said they would be calling me on 8/7/19 to schedule the install. It the morning of 8/8/19 needless to say we never heard from American Home Shield or Pasadena. I did call them both and never got a call or email.
I asked today if I should just prepare to have no air for 2019 and the customer service rep hung up on me in true AMerican Home Shield fashion just rude and careless. I have asked politely to have someone from the escalation team call me and I was told for two weeks now they are too busy taking other calls but someone could call me later in the day. I have been told this on 6 occasions from 7.26.19 to 8/8/19. I asked if I could possibly get another vendor and I was told I could not because the part was already ordered and I just need to be patient that Pasadena will call one day. It’s now over 75 days of no air. I've been paying my monthly fee to have this warranty and this has been a customer service nightmare. We feel like not one person care enough to follow through.
I apologize for the inconvenience Cynthia. An email was just sent to you in a effort to resolve your issue. My name is Stacy and I look forward to assisting you.

We noticed the flood on Friday, and the contractor had someone come to our house on Monday, but the guy said he couldn't diagnose it himself. He was gonna have to talk to his boss, and his boss will get back to me in 24 hours, which didn't happen for another week. I kept calling and they just said that it haven't happened yet.
We were expecting the call by Tuesday, but there were no calls. By Thursday, I finally got someone to talk to me, and they said they would try to have someone on Friday. I took a whole day off of work, and stayed home all day waiting for it. But he didn't show up. So, by 5:00 on Friday, I started calling other people, and had someone out here on Sunday to fix it. So, we paid out of pocket to get it done on the outside. But we also had to pay the $75 to American Home Shield. We had other claims that went a little bit better than this.

Dave, the technician, was incredibly helpful, very friendly and had great customer service. However, he only corrected the symptom and not the cause. My AC stopped working again and I ended up having to make a return call the following night that he was here. Westshore was able to revisit the following day and just tag it on to the initial claim. Since then, everything has been working fine. I would recommend AHS.

Our upstairs air conditioner unit was failing intermittently. So, sometimes it works, sometimes it wouldn’t. I went to the website and submitted a claim through the online portal. American Home Shield made it pretty easy to submit the claim and to get what we needed. They specifically said on the website and then again on the follow-up email that came immediately after, that the contractor would be reaching out within 24 hours and they made it. We went through a couple different things where they cleared a few clogs, but that didn’t seem to resolve it. We were very pleased with them.
The technician came out about four times to try to get this thing figured out, and he’s always been very professional. He’s very clear in what he thought was going on, and he would even sort of walk us through it and give us in layman’s terms sort of what was happening. We thought it was very good. Recently, I submitted a claim to repair my oven. I did that online but I also did a follow-up call with the representative. They got back with me very quickly. I was the one that wasn’t so quick to get back to them.
The contractor that was sent was very nice. The gentleman was really sweet, very respectful, and very kind. When he walked in, he greeted me, my daughter and the dogs. And then, he took the time to explain to me, “This is what’s wrong, and this is what we’re gonna do with it, and this is how we're gonna fix it.” There was a couple of things that he wasn’t able to resolve at that time. He explained to me, “We’re ordering parts. They’re gonna contact you about that.” So, he walked me through the process and everything that he said so far is exactly what happened.

I’m totally satisfied with American Home Shield and I would definitely recommend them. I have two homes with them and the great thing about them is that if you have more than one issue in a service call, it’s considered one service fee. I love that. Recently, my disposal was acting up. I’d hit the switch and it wouldn’t do anything so I stopped using that side of my sink. When I called American Home Shield to get that checked, I remembered about how slow the tub was upstairs so I was able to get them both done on the same day, and it’s been fabulous.
The contractor, Colorado Plumbing & Heating, was very efficient. American Home Shield told me not to expect anything from them until it had been 24 to 48 hours, but Colorado Plumbing & Heating called me very quickly and was actually able to come that same day if I was available. Unfortunately, I wasn’t, so I had to push it out a day. They were here actually early, not even just on time, and the job was done. It was communicated with them what the issues were. When I filed the request, the representative at American Home Shield asked me to go and look to see what type of disposal I have, what was the brand and all of that. The technician also asked me what the problems were, what was he coming to do and what my service call was for.

But this contractor did not bring a leak detection equipment and said that they didn't have an order to do a leak detection. Another company came out, Hers & His, came out this morning and they said they didn't have that order either. The guy showed the order to me and there was nothing from American Home Shield saying that they needed to do a leak detection. Hers and His does not even do that. We started this whole thing back on July 29th and it's been 10 days that we've been without hot water. I'm not happy. Also, I called this claim in and American Home Shield's automated system was slow. There were also too many options. You have to keep repeating yourself. American Home Shield was very quick at filling out my claim when I submitted it online. I paid online and they were also very quick to take my money. The contractors were great. They gave me plenty of notice when they were coming, and they showed up when they said they would. They had to come about twice. Once to diagnose and once to fix. They gave me a four-hour time frame, and they came, at both times, in the front end of that window, which was nice. They diagnosed what was wrong, and they said I needed a new compressor for my HVAC. They told me that it usually takes a week, and once they get the authorization from American Home Shield, they have to send them the part. Once American Home Shield sends the part, they will be back in about a week to fix it.
Eight days later, I hadn't heard anything. So, I called American Home Shield and got some guy that sounds like he was over in India. I get why they do that because it’s cheaper, but it makes the call take twice as long, because I can’t understand them and they can’t understand me. Once I’ve finally got through to him what the problem was, and that I had not received any word, he said he would call the repair place and find out what was going on. So, he put me on hold for about 21 minutes, came back on the phone and said that he had talked to them, and that they had forgotten to send them the authorization. So he did it right there. He said it all would be taken care of, and I should hear back within a day about when the repair guys were gonna come back out.
Three days later, I hadn't heard anything, so I called back. Got the same runaround, so I said I needed them to move me up the chain, to somebody who could understand what I was saying and could actually get something done. So, I finally got to a manager who realized that they had the authorization all along, and that American Home Shield just never sent the part out, and that he’d get on it right away.
When the person that did the repair called me, I asked him why he didn't call me after the guy from India called him last Friday. He said no one called them last Friday and that they were closed that day. There was no one in the office. So there was no way in the world the rep could’ve talked to anybody. So the rep kept me on hold for 20 minutes and told me a lie just to get me off the phone. So, I’m overwhelmed with the competence of the person who did the work. I am underwhelmed with the service and the response that I got from American Home Shield. It was pathetic. Also, their voice prompt thing leaves a lot to be desired, because you’re on the phone for about six minutes before you can talk to a human being. And when you already know what you need, you don’t need to hear all the options.
American Home Shield is good at drafting my money every month. They took my $125 deductible with lightning speed. They made sure to inform me that in addition to the $125 deductible, I’d have to pay extra for some Freon, which I did pay and it was almost $300. So when it was all about me doing something for them, they were very quick. But when it was all about them doing something for me, they didn’t give a **. But I’m not cancelling. I’m not a jerk. I know people have bad seasons, and bad reps. I’m gonna keep paying it. I got hardware put in on my HVAC versus what I paid for it, and I’m about breaking even. So, it hasn’t cost me any more than it would have if I had to pay for it myself, but I don’t feel that I’ve gotten a big bargain.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Frank. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you in an effort to make sure your issues are resolved. I look forward to speaking with you.

Our toilet tank wasn’t filling, so we called American Home Shield and they got a hold of H&H and had them come out and got it fixed. I filed the claim on a Thursday or a Friday, so we knew that we probably wouldn’t hear anything over the weekend but someone called me right away on Monday and said, “Hey, I can stop over there.” And sure enough, he did and took a look at it, went and got the part, and told my husband he'd be back in an hour. It was right over lunch time too, so my husband and I ran to lunch. And my husband got back to the house, and he was already sitting there waiting for us. It was very timely. He's a really nice guy. And we got his card for other plumbing stuff that wasn’t gonna be covered over American Home Shield. The only thing is he didn't like dogs, and we got a big old dog that thinks he’s a lap dog, so the dog was in his face. But the guy was really professional.

American Home Shield's claims process is very easy. You just call and tell them what the issue is. And I have not had any experience that has not been handled well. All of the contractors sent by American Home Shield have been very nice. I've had three different people over the last eight months, and each one of them had been fine.

I had another a couple of years ago, and they were bad. The people at AHS are hands down better. The first two times I filed a claim the contractor came in one day. Matter of fact, the second time when I had to get recharged, I called in the afternoon, and they were out there before 8 o'clock in the evening. I'm very happy with them. They are professional and nice.

I loved the tech who came out. He was a wonderful young man and he tried his hardest to fix it. But he went and got a different part, tried to put that in, and that didn't help it. He put in another part, then ordered another part, but none of them would work. But he was very polite and very courteous. They ended up putting in a new microwave yesterday and the people from A-1 Delivery that put in the microwave were wonderful, too. They were in and out of here in 15 minutes and they were very polite and very nice men. Our new microwave is also perfect and I'm so excited. When I submitted a claim for my AC over the phone to American Home Shield, the rep who helped me was very helpful. The contractor however, had to come twice. The first time, they came within 24 hours. The next time, we called on a Saturday and it took a little longer for them to come out 'cause it was a weekend. Though the tech made a bit of a mistake, he solved that with no issues. It took like five minutes to fix the mistake properly. The first time he repaired it, it worked for about a day. Though it has only been 24 hours since the second repair, the AC is working now.

I put in a claim a couple of days ago with AHS and the techs came out to check on my washer. They fixed it yesterday, it took them 30 minutes to do that, and the washer has been performing well since then. I usually submit my claims with them over the phone and it takes so long to get a representative. But so far, the contractors that they sent out were really good.
Also, as far as American Home Shield goes, it's a great company and they do things that I like. I’d recommend them to anyone. But I’ve been in this house for 20 something years plus and I’ve been trying to get American Home Shield to replace my air conditioner. They keep telling me that the only thing that they’re gonna do is they’re gonna keep patching it up and I don't know what they're waiting on. During the summer months, every time that they come out, they patch it up then it runs for a few months. And then it goes out again and I have to call American Home Shield up again.
They just keep putting parts in it and they told me that if the contractor tells them that the air conditioner needs to be replaced, they will replace it. So, if the contractor says that it’s working and they can repair it, that's what they will do. Once it gets to the point where they can’t repair the air conditioner, then they will let American Home Shield know. When that happens, I’m hoping that it doesn’t take American Home Shield long to replace the air conditioner because it’s goes out in the summer months or in the winter months. In fact, I just got that done this month. It went out about two weeks ago and they sent someone out within two to three days. And everything is working fine right now. So, I’m okay with that.

The air conditioning unit on the outside was starting to make a really bad squealing noise, and the fan wouldn't turn. So, I called Home Shield. They set me up with a company, who had to replace the condenser because it was bubbled up on the top, like a battery does. And the guy from Prestige said, "Come look. I'll show you, so you know what's going on." And I appreciated that.
He showed me what was wrong. He changed it out. He also told me that I should do some maintenance on it, like take a hose and clean it out and what do to keep it in good running condition. And I thought that was just awesome that he would offer that. I like that company. So, next time I have any problems, I'm gonna request they come back out because the company that I had before was a nightmare.

Sears came out and changed the compressor out on my refrigerator. It was a long process. In fact, I lost a lot of food in the refrigerator because initially, the people who came out weren’t LG certified. They came out and checked the icemaker. It wouldn’t work. The guy kinda played with it and said, “Okay, call me tomorrow. If it’s not working, then I’ll need to order a part.” So, the next day, I called them. It wasn’t working, and in the meantime, he came out and put that part in. By that time, the whole refrigerator wasn’t cooling. He came out and said he was gonna order a motherboard to replace it ‘cause he thought the motherboard was out. He ordered a motherboard and it took a couple weeks. He came out and replaced the motherboard, but it still wasn’t working. For a while, I didn't hear from anybody so I called again. They said they were gonna have to find a certified LG person to come out and fix it.
Another week or so goes by. They got an LG person to come out, and the LG person was the Sears guy. He came, looked at it and said the compressor was bad so he needed to change it out. He said he gotta order and he was gonna send the parts to me. That took another week or two. Once that finally happened, he came by and fixed it, and it’s working now. He was professional and courteous. He got right to the point. He diagnosed it pretty quickly, said what the problem was and told me what he needed to do. It took about two months to get everything fixed, but the Sears repair person fixed it after the other people came by and replaced almost every electronic part that’s already in there. So, I assume my refrigerator’s brand-new now that every part in it’s been changed out. I suspected they came out and changed it out to make it new.
I’ve used American Home Shield on other claims, my pool pump for example. It seems like the contractor would come out, they’d look at it, and say, “Okay, yeah, it’s what you said it is.” Then, they gotta go back to American Home Shield and say, “Yeah, it’s what he said it is.” Then, they come back out and fix it. I don't understand why they can’t come out, diagnose it right there and fix it right there. So, I call it in and say, "This is the pool pump number. It’s leaking so that means it’s broken. Someone has to change the whole pool pump out, and this is the model I have right here.” I would’ve thought they’d come out with that model of pool pump or a better one, and replace it. He came out and said, “Yeah, it’s leaking. I’ll be back in about a week or so to fix it.” American Home Shield takes care of the problem but it’s just the process of getting out and evaluating. It doesn't make sense.

I had an AC issue where the condenser fan motor was going bad and Grady’s Air came out the next day. It was exactly somebody who actually knew what it was he was doing. He was able to answer most questions and even gave more insights to other things that can possibly go wrong or can be easily fixed ahead of time instead of waiting for it to actually break down. The AC was fairly old. The contractor had tried to work on it and they did that sincerely. It finally just completely quit. They wanted to keep at that, but it was not going to fix the problem so I kept talking to them. I took several conversations, and the only complaint I have is they kept referring me to people in the Philippines. There was a language barrier and a cultural barrier where they didn’t quite understand. It’s just hard. We have little things we say and they go, “I don’t understand that.” And I didn’t understand them either. I could tell that they had been programmed to shut me down. They'd go “Well, we’ve already worked on it one time and that’s all you get,” and “Well, my computer won’t take your claim so you’re not covered.”
I don’t know how many times I was on the phone, but it seems like a lot talking to the Philippines. My daughter is a lawyer and she kinda helped me. I said, “I wanna talk to your supervisor.” When I would do that, then they were more cooperative and they finally got me to someone in the United States. From there, things began to get taken care of, but not until I got out of the Philippines. It took a long time, but I was a little stubborn about it. I wanted them to do what they were supposed to do. And evidently, they were supposed to do it because they did it.
The contractor was fantastic. They were professional, knowledgeable, and competent. The woman that answers their phone and takes the order was so nice and always made me feel like it was important to them. They did the best they could on timing. They had to wait on the insurance also but none of that was their fault. We’re in great shape now and it was good. I told them in the Philippines, “We have somebody in the house who’s sick and we’re having a heatwave,” and right after the air conditioning started working, my husband almost died with a heart problem. So, that was fortuitous that we got that fixed. We were finally satisfied. And the local people here did great and did what they were supposed to do. If anyone has a problem, they have to not stop at the Philippines. They have to keep trying to get somebody in the United States.

The fan on the AC unit was not circulating, so there was an issue with cold air not coming through. I gave AHS a call to request a service and their process was very efficient. But I wasn’t pleased with the fact that they couldn’t obtain servicing until Monday when my problem arose Friday morning. So, I was struggling with a 140-degree heat here in Tucson without air conditioning. But I understood because I have an existing service arrangement with the contractor that they assigned to me, Vail Heating and Cooling. They had to come out on Wednesday to add some refrigerant for the AC unit and AHS felt that my recent claim was somehow connected to that. That was the reason they couldn’t contract with a different technician and they felt I needed to stick with Vail. But it was a different issue completely. Other than that, Vail did a terrific job.
I also had other experiences with AHS a couple of years ago and my biggest concern was dealing with a representative who had a difficult time speaking English. I had to be put on hold several times because they couldn’t really deal with my concerns directly. So, after going back and forth several times, they finally offered to accommodate me with a hotel night stay for a certain dollar amount.

The technician that came to fix it and subsequently determine that the parts were not available, and they would not be able to fix it. And so, I accepted the reimbursement. I submitted the documents as email with attachments, and I received the terms that they offered for resolving the issue. I received that by email, and there were intermittent calls in between to discuss how it was going to happen and what was going to happen. Hopefully, I’ll get my reimbursement check as promised. It’s still within the time framework that they asked me to allow. So, I’m waiting.

American Home Shield was the top one recommended provider and I have been with them for over two months. Originally, there was a cooling-off period of more than a month. The actual contract came into place at the beginning of June. When my tenant had a toilet leak, we submitted a claim to them online. At the time of booking on their website, they didn’t give any indication as to when the contractor would arrive to fix the problem.
I told my tenant that the repair appointment was fixed and A&S Mechanical was the company that would come and attend to the issue. They would probably be out the next day. The tenant tried to reach them but they said they had no idea that they had an appointment. They then called us back and we got a confirmation. But it was scheduled for four days later. They said that they would come and fix the toilet on a Friday and they did. It’s running okay now. Other than that appointment delay, American Home Shield has been okay so far.

I told him it was not as it hangs on my wall and the motor is outside. I had another company come and they told me it was dead on arrival and I needed to replace it.
AHS's contractor, Air Patrol kept in touch with me and let me know when they could come. When the tech from Air Patrol arrived, he knew what it was and he explained the whole thing to me. That time, the filters were a little clogged up. He was able to reset it and get it working. After that, it was working fine. Though after that, the unit was working fine, it just stopped again. Still, I was very pleased with my experience. The tech from Air Patrol was very nice and knowledgeable.

Something keeps happening to my refrigerator. I had called American Home Shield and made the complaint, and it was awesome. I liked these guys. The rep listened, helped and made a call for the next day for a technician to come in and fix it. The contractor came and actually took the motor out of my freezer. It was broken and he had to replace it with a completely new one. He actually had it with him too. That was purely coincidence. Hopefully, the refrigerator stays good because I have had trouble with it on and off before. When it was broken, everything was melted in the freezer and food was going bad. For now, everything is good.
Your feedback is more than appreciated and I hope you continue to enjoy your AHS warranty!

I was having trouble with keeping the house cool. It was 86 outside and it was 84 in my house. It was not cooling. I called and talked to American Home Shield, and submitted my claim that way. There was a company that came out twice, and Bill’s Heating & Cooling was the one that fixed it. After the first company left, it still didn’t work. They came back out, did something else, and still, it didn’t work. The first company put in Freon, which I did not need. And I wasn’t happy with AHS only paying $10 of it, but I understand that’s the way it is. Also, I was not happy that I would have to speak with a foreign person that I could not understand and he could not understand me half of the time. AHS sent Bill’s out, and the tech got to the bottom of it and fixed it. He was awesome.

All of my claims have been online through American Home Shield. It's pretty easy to do. You click what your general issue is. There’s a drop box for putting in what you think the problem might be. And then they assign the provider. When I had an user error on my refrigerator and I managed to freeze the waterline solid, the contractor had to come out twice and they were incredibly professional. So when I was having a lot of water under my sink, I told American Home Shield to use the same contractor. They came and replaced three pieces under my sink. Apparently when I moved in, the compactor thing in the sink wasn’t put in the right place so they fixed that and replaced things. They were quick, professional, and I’ve been very happy with both sets serviced and American Home Shield.

The fan on the AC wasn’t going around and I submitted a claim with AHS over the phone. It was a recording and I didn't speak to a live person, but it was fine. I called them on a weekend, which would've been hard and then they came on Tuesday which was perfect. They came exactly when I needed them ‘cause I’m only off one day a week. Temprite Inc was great. They came to my home before. And this time it wasn't a major issue. It needed some kind of a battery or a fuse and the repair was done in 15 minutes.

They find the cheapest contractors that do bad work and are unhelpful in general. They also don't help much at all when it comes to covering actual home repairs. In total I've been with them for 4 yrs, had 3 claims, only 1 of which was covered at no expense to me. The rest I was charged for the service call and responsible for most of the repair cost. On a particular occasion my AC was running hot and they told me it would be 4 days before someone would be out. They don't care at all and you're better off saving your monthly payments up and covering your own **. At $60 a month for 4 years I'd have a pretty good safety net by now (about $3000). So considering I pay them monthly, then pay them when I actually need to use them, then pay them again if something is actually wrong it seems that they are only there to profit off of your hard times.
Good evening Curtis,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

Updated on 08/23/2019: Base off of my last experience with America Home Shield, I would not do business with America Home Shield ever again! This company is a joke! My a.c. unit stop cooling at my house. AHS sent out a contractor to my home and the contractor gave me a diagnosis of low refrigerant and I needed a leak seal kit. The contractor was insisted that AHS would not pay for the leak seal. The contractor tried to start the job immediately. I advised him that he would need to submit the authorization to AHS before I proceed. Later that day, AHS stated they had approved the authorization and all I needed to pay was refrigerant. I advised AHS that the contractor was trying to charge me a $79 trip fee to return to complete the job and $250 for the leak seal.
Days after going back and forward between AHS and the contractor, I ask AHS to provide me something in writing to give to the contractor. AHS would not give me anything in writing to state what they would pay. Approximately seven days later, AHS assigned me a new contractor, the second contractor stated that my compressor was bad. The new Contractor told me I would have to give him $1000 or buy a new unit from him for $8500 plus before he would submit the work order. The second contractor submitted the work order three days after he first visited my house. I inform AHS what the second contractor stated to me. AHS stated to me that I had an option for a cash out of approximately $760.
At that point, I’ll began researching how much I could buy a new AC unit with heat pump for. Based off of the second contractor diagnosis compressor failure, I decided just to buy a new unit. Keep in mind, I live right outside of Phoenix Arizona where the last few months the temperature has been around 110° plus every day. I have a small child and two dogs and I am a disabled U.S. Army veteran. I had to go to Lowe’s and purchase a portable AC unit because we could not live in our house with this heat. The portable AC unit cost me $485. I decided to buy a new AC unit and take it advantage of the $760 in cash out from AHS. On the nineteenth day, without a working a.c. I call AHS to see if I can get another contractor out to my home.
To see if I can get more cash out money because I believe my AC unit was totally broken. AHS assigned a third contractor who showed up two days later. The third contractor came in, looked at my thermostat, went in the attic, and looked at my AC unit that is outside on the ground. The third contractor discovered what the problem was within five minutes of arriving. The third contractor took a picture of some burnt wires in my attic. He resolve the problem and I had cold air within 10 minutes. I contacted AHS and inform them that the third contractor had fix the problem. I made AHS aware that I had purchased a portable AC unit and a new AC unit for my home.
I asked AHS would they compensate me for my inconvenience and I had spent lots of money on new equipment. AHS and the escalation department advised me that they would not compensate me anything. Based off of their second contractor diagnoses that I had purchased a new AC unit and that it was unfair for me to receive three different diagnoses from three different contractors. AHS informed me that I would not even be getting the cash out money because my AC was fixed now. AHS does not want to take responsibility for sending contractors to my home and give me wrong diagnosis and trying to cheat me.
This was the worst experience dealing with a company or a firm I have ever experienced in my life. Three different contractors and 25 days later after making first contact with AHS I finally got cold air. However, I’m stuck with a $485 portable AC unit and a $4000 new AC unit. I find AHS a total waste of time and money. I will never say anything positive about AHS again. **
Original Review: American Home Shield sent out liars and cheaters to my home. They sent out a company that tried to cheat me and take my money right away. I informed the company that I would have to talk to AHS before I made a decision. AHS later contacted me and advised me of what they would and would not pay. I informed AHS that the company was trying to get me to pay a trip fee and pay for services that AHS covered. I ask AHS for the authorization so I could give it to the company. AHS refused to give me the authorization or even email what they would pay. I spend the next 3 to 4 days trying to speak to a supervisor. All they did was put me on hold for long periods of time and tell me a supervisor would call me back. In which, a supervisor never call me back. It as AHS is ok with their customers being defrauded and cheated. AHS has the worst customer service ever.

This review is only for this specific experience. Other experience have been much better. To date (6 week time period), their contractor, Suncoast AC & Appliances, has made 5 visits to fix our washer. It still leaks/pours water on the floor during use. The outsourced customer service reps for AHS have been absolutely no help. They are unable to contact Suncoast, unable to make decisions to help fix the problem, unable to transfer me to someone who CAN help, do not return calls that they have promised they would, and (Some) are very hard to understand because of their accent. Visit number 6 is scheduled for today.
AHS would not give us a different contractor, even though it is very apparent that the technician does not have the knowledge to satisfactorily complete the job. AHS usually confirms appointment with a text and email. We got no confirmation or time slot, which is usually 4 hours. When I finally got through to customer service rep, she said someone would be here between 10:00 and 5:00. 7 hours. Rep said there was nothing she could do, which no longer surprises me. Awful, terrible, no good, very bad experience.
I am sorry to hear that AHS has not provided a suitable resolution at this time. Thanks for allowing me to assist you with your request. I am glad we were able to agree on a Resolution. You will receive a short questionnaire via email, please give us your new feedback.

Need to get English speaking customer service reps, had to repeat everything at least 2-3 times. I placed and paid for a contractor to come look at 7 ceiling fans in my house. They were very prompt with coming out to look and told us they would get back to us about what AHS would cover. We never heard from them, so I place a recall at the beginning of July and it's August and still haven't heard from the Contractor. The receipt the contractor left us said a couple of them needed light work. I tried contacting the contractor myself, by email and calling, and still haven't heard from them.
We have had an AHS warranty for 15 years and never had a bad experience until now and this is just ceiling fans! They have either repaired or replaced major appliances in my home over the 15 years. That's why I am shocked at how I am getting the runaround about ceiling fans. Hopefully this is an isolated case and I will continue to use AHS. I have tried one other home warranty company and it was a total disaster, so I came back to AHS.
Thanks for being an AHS customer for over 15 years. I hate to hear that you've had a bad experience with your ceiling fan. An email was just sent to you in a effort to resolve your issue. My name is Stacy and I look forward to assisting you.

We have had American Home Shield for over 10 years and it is getting worse and worse. Our AC goes out EVERY single year, we pay our service fee AND other huge expenses (freon at about $700-800 a year, etc) and it is still not fixed. We now have been without AC for weeks and no end in sight as to when they will be sending someone out to fix it. I am beyond disappointed at how this is being handled and can not rightfully recommend this company to anyone. Their commercials stating if they can't fix it they will replace it are not accurate. Sadly.

Our range top microwave wasn't working. I went online to submit a claim to AHS and the experience was fine. The website was efficient. I was informed that I'd be contacted, and I was. It was all immediate. The contractor sent was fantastic. I also placed a call to file a claim for the dryer. They said it wasn't the dryer though. I needed to get the vent cleaned externally. So I had to call an external company to come and clean the external vent.
70 days later, the dryer was still a problem. And part of that delay was me making the time to reach out to them. Because again, the dryer's not anything I use every day. It's like once a week, or my son's using it and he wasn't telling me that it wasn't really drying, and he's drying multiple times. So, I would've again had to pay for them to come out, which I didn't think was right. I didn't wanna deal with the hassle so I just got my own dryer.
Another experience that I had was when my hot water heater was not really functioning like it should. I know it's old. I just bought the house and it's over 10 years old. But it seems like I have to wait until it does something, like rupture the floor. I literally have to turn my hot water all the way up in the shower in order to get it to warm. But it needs to be all the way broken then could lead to other damage of things that American Home Shield doesn't cover, which apparently doesn't seem to care about. Just the age alone of the hot water heater should be sufficient for them to say okay. While I had a good experience with the microwave, I had a boiler, for the most part, a good experience as well. But I'm contemplating whether or not I would renew with them.

The AC wasn’t getting cold enough and when I called American Home Shield, it was confusing to me because they said I had to pay upfront. I spoke to somebody and I was told I had to give them my credit card number before I even got an appointment. That made no sense to me. They said they would charge me for the $75 booking appointment fee. The contractor was fine and the guy, Doug, was very nice. He said that if I put Freon there, it would help it get cooler, but he said it wasn't that big a deal, so I just left it because I would have had to pay. American Home Shield only covers $10 a pound of any gases, and it was 60 bucks a pound, so I didn't even worry about it. AHS asked me if I wanted to extend but I definitely would not extend it.

AHS is awesome. Their contractor, Severe Climate Control came out and replaced something on my air conditioner. The tech said the motor was running backwards because something wasn't working. Now, the air conditioner seems to be doing better. It can't keep up all the time but I'm not sure if that's the air conditioner's fault or the fact that we live in Houston and it's but I think it's working now.
Currently, we have a microwave claim that hasn't finished yet. Their microwave guys were awesome but he just said that he couldn't fix the microwave so AHS would call me to get me a new microwave, which they did. However, it's the wrong model. They got us a countertop model but we have a built-in. So how could I use the countertop model when I need it to be vented for the built-in spot? I love the microwave, but it’s the wrong model. Despite this issue, AHS' team has been helpful. They've been great to me.

I filed a claim for an air conditioner that was making a lot of noise. American Home Shield's website is excellent because as soon as I pulled up my account, it said “Service Request”. I clicked on it and it said “What kind?” I clicked the air condition and it immediately popped up with a service and told me how much it would cost which I knew was $75. That was so good because it was easy for me to hit it and it went straight out of my bank account.
Within an hour, the technician from A.R.T. Heating & Air Conditioning was coming to my door. It was excellent. He came right out and said that it would probably be a day or two before they would get the part. My husband and I left, and they came back and left a card on the door that evening. They had gotten the part already and was coming back to fix it. The card said to give them a call so I called them the next morning and they said the guy had it but he was in another town. He was in Collin so he would be there that afternoon.
He came out and fixed it but then it wasn’t getting cold. The next day, we were gone and when we came back, it was 80 degrees. I called them back and I asked if I needed to do another service call. He said no and that he we would be right back out there to see what was going on. And he came right out and fixed it immediately. It’s just a wire that he had misplaced and as soon as he fixed it, within not even five minutes, it became quiet and cold.
They were really great. The guys were very professional, efficient and quick. They were very attentive too. It was a very good experience from beginning to the end. And even the guy who came back, he gave his number so if we have any problem, we can call him because he did something else. He said some kind of switch was on medium and it should have been on high. He said if we have any problem, we can call him and he'll come back and put it back on medium. And we haven’t had any problem. He said 99% of the time, that’s what it’s supposed to do.

A&K Appliance Repair came out for the refrigerator and everything went beautifully. There was a weird noise coming from the refrigerator. I called it in to American Home Shield and the guy came out the next day. He found out what the problem was and fixed it. He was in there for about an hour and a half. He was a real nice guy too. He showed me what the problem was and told me what he was gonna do. As a matter fact, they said they were gonna get to me and that they’d call after a while. My icemaker is working fine now. It’s putting out ice.
But when I tried to get the valves going to my water softener out in the garage replaced, that wasn’t solved real quickly. Every time the contractor would come out, they would give me a different reason why they couldn’t do it. The guy told me one time that he couldn't touch the water softener. I also bought some line. That way, they would see the line. But he came out and said it was not the right type of line. That went on for six weeks or more. I had to turn the water off from the garage because the valve is not working. The next time he came out, he said American Home Shield was not gonna cover this because of some reason. I told him to go ahead, pack up his stuff and leave, and that I would get it taken care of.
I called American Home Shield three times. I told them my part of the deal was $125 but since nobody was doing the work, I wanted my money back. I also know people who only pay $75 for their service. So first of all, I asked why I was paying $125 and nobody was giving me an answer on the water softener. American Home Shield gave me a bunch of deals. But they said they had to see the original paperwork and I was not even gonna bother trying to show them what happened. I called another company and they came out. Then I just replaced the valves, the lines, the whole works myself. I built up a whole new home water treatment system. I’m very dissatisfied. As a matter of fact, I called American Home Shield up in the last week and told them to just cancel my stuff. I didn’t wanna deal with it anymore. Then they had the gall to send me an email telling me I owe them $35. Nobody has been able to explain to me why either.

The AC was not cooling the house and the pipes that comes from the unit to the house was frozen over. We called American Home Shield and the tech from A-US Air Conditioning Texas came out. He said that it was low on Freon and that we needed three or five pounds. It was like $200 and something for us to pay, so we paid for it. The tech was professional, quick, and he came when he said he was coming. Everything went great. But that was the third time that we've had that unit repaired and we keep making payments to American Home Shield for people to come out and sent them different each time. And then us having to spend that over $200 on the Freon in addition to it, I feel like we're slowly rebuilding a unit instead of getting it fixed or replaced.
The same thing has happened with my washing machine. Contractors have been out several times and we even had one rep come out and tell me that I needed to use a cleaning agent on the washing machine. He refused to run the agent to see if it would stop the sound. But my washing machine is still making that terrible noise. The last guy that came said that AHS would not approve a replacement of the part that was needed to make that sound go away. Also, we have replaced several things on it.
I called and I got a window of time for them to come out and they didn't show. They called me that evening and said they could come and see me the following day which I had to take off an additional day of work to do. Then, they came in and they say they were gonna have to order that part so, then there was a third day off so that they could put the part in. And he told me that was really not gonna fix my problem and AHS doesn't approve of this part to be replaced at this point in time so, if it just quits, to call them. I've taken three days off of work. My washing machine still makes that loud sound and we spent that little deductible every time. I don't know how much money we've put into the washing machine at this point and I don't even know what it's worth. I would just have to wait till the washing machine completely quit before I can get anything done with it.
It's a little discouraging because our first interaction with AHS when we first moved in to the house, they handled our refrigerator situation amazingly and we told all kinds of people about them because of that. But these last few times, I'm like, I see why people don't recommend these warranties. We probably won't buy from them next year.

It was our first time using American Home Shield when the water heater was not heating water, and everything worked as advertised and as expected. Their process is pretty straightforward. Air Pro Master did their initial site survey on Friday or Saturday, and their team was there on Monday. They seemed to be equipped and ready to do the job. They had to go to Home Depot to get a steel pan for it to sit in because the plastic one that was in there was not up to code. They were back in about 40 minutes and an hour later, I was signing papers and they were leaving. Apparently, that was something that was supposed to have been noted in the initial site survey, but it was not noticed. The way it was explained was that the servicemen usually have more experience than the people who come out to the original site survey.

When I came back on Saturday, after I stepped out for a couple of hours, the water was overflowing the pipe. I couldn't stop it. I don't know what was going on but the water kept on overflowing like the toilet was stopped up. I filed the claim with American Home Shield over the phone through a recording. I left a message and then they said, “Hold on.” I didn't get to speak to them until Sunday when I called back.
With the first contractor American Home Shield assigned, I couldn't get in touch with them because my call kept on going through the voicemail. I had to keep on calling American Home Shield and they couldn't get in touch with the contractor either. So American Home Shield assigned another contractor. But the people from Ray Stovall Plumbing were from New Orleans and they always do their work in Lafayette on Tuesday. So I had to wait until Tuesday. But the wait was really fast and I was very satisfied with them. The technician was very professional, friendly and fast. He found the problem just like that. I had bought all kinda parts myself trying to unstop the thing. But he fixed it in less than 10 minutes. He knew what he was doing to me and everything is working good now.
I was very appreciative because I had to go use the restrooms in a friend's house and in the store. The only thing I regret is that the first company should have been in Lafayette and I would have had faster service. But it took a company way out of New Orleans to come and give me service. Nonetheless, I would recommend American Home Shield to friends. So far, I’m very satisfied with them. They have changed two central units for me over the years since I’ve been with them, as well as different other things like my washer.

I had a problem with my AC and American Home Shield sent a company out. It was supposed to be a 12:00 to 4:00 appointment, and they showed up at 2 o'clock. And in the text message, they said I had to pay for Freon, which was okay. It was over $10 a pound. The service guy showed up and said the coil needed cleaning and it wasn't covered. He put in two pounds of Freon and cleaned the coils. He wasn't there that long. That was a week ago on a Tuesday. During the day, it never would get cool in here. So, on Tuesday evening, I called American Home Shield. On Wednesday, Best Way Mechanical called me back and set an appointment up for Thursday.
My daughter was at home. She said, "Dad, this seem to be working. It's 75 degrees in here now." So, I canceled it. I got home Wednesday night, and it was back to 78 degrees again. Now, it was late at night, which I already canceled the appointment. I called them back and they said they already filled my appointment for Thursday and they'd come out Monday. I asked what time they'd be here and they said it would be from 12:00 to 4:00. About 20 minutes to 12:00, I called them. They said they got pulled off and they couldn't be here until later that day because they had an emergency. They ended up showing up around 3 o'clock on Monday afternoon and they said there was a line leaking. So, we're still without the AC unit because they don't have the line. And this is Best Way Mechanical, which I talked to American Home Shield.
Last night, I tried to call Best Way Mechanical back, but I was put on hold over 30 minutes. I have not talked back to them when they're gonna be out here until I questioned American Home Shield. I said, "I did put out $239 out-of-pocket cost, which the Freon was $139, and $100 to clean the coils." I asked them if I have to pay for Freon again. And every time they come out, there's another $100 for American Home Shield. I don't have to pay the $100 every time they come out because it's a recall. So, right now, it's in limbo with Best Way Mechanical. American Home Shield is doing their part. They were supposed to reach out to the company with the technicians, and then find out what's going on there. But I have used American Home Shield for some other things and we have not had any problem.

He called me and gave me a heads up before he came, and he was very professional. He worked very quickly to troubleshoot and diagnose the problem and to fix it with minimal disruptions to other parts of my home. He was able to diagnose what areas of the home needed the power to be shut down on.
However, I was just looking at this fixture last night. It has four lights extending from it and I noticed that two of the lights are flickering while it’s off. I might have to have other requests done, and sometimes I do wait a long time on the phone when I have to call American Home Shield in, especially if my appliance issue requires a second technician to come out. Not this particular call but in general, it takes a long time to get to talk to somebody. Also, the money should not come out of my account until the actual service call is rendered. I filed a claim with AHS back in April. But the company was not able to fix the problem. So I called back and AHS said they would send in a second opinion. And I told the guy on the customer service that I had a certain unit that is called a water-based air conditioner, because they were sending somebody of regular air conditioners. AHS sent me another company, and that company didn’t work with my air conditioner. The guy was telling me, “Where is the other part?” I was like, “What do you mean the other part?” “The other part of the air conditioner.” “This is the air conditioner. This is all. That’s why it’s a water-based.” The guy didn’t have any idea what he was looking at. So I had to call back because he was saying, “No worries. I will call the company and I will tell them to send you somebody else.” That didn’t happen. So in those periods, it took another week.
I was sent a third company, and that company took a little longer than I expected, but they finally resolved the issue. The guy was able to find the problem, and it was a very simple thing – the cables. It was one cable that was not connected in the right thing. I think that the other people, while they were trying to do or fix something, changed things that they didn’t have to change. So the guy had to change the motherboard panel. But it did not cost any extra to get the other people in because everything was happening under the 30 days that they should warranty the job is going to work.
It took a very long time for the third guy to tell me, “The part is not coming.” He never call me back. He was not reporting to the American Home Shield on time. So I have to call American Homes Shield eight times. The guy was not the most punctual guy, but that was the guy that fixed the problem. I am very happy that he did. He was a nice guy and the ac has been working properly. It’s not shutting down and making noises anymore. It’s not overheating anymore. Also the representative from American Home Shield helped me all the time. The guy I told about my unit being water-based unit but still sent the wrong tech was still nice, anyway. Everybody has been very nice.

I had an issue one time with my AC unit where one of the contractors came out, diagnosed it but didn't actually diagnose it. Smoke was coming out of the vents and he overlooked why that was the case. There was a leak in the unfinished section of my basement so I called American Home Shield, and then they sent the plumbers over, and they took care of it. They said that the pipe was super old and rusted out. So whenever water from the faucet would go down the drain, it would start dripping in the basement. They had to tear off a part of the drywall to get to that part of the pipes and it was on the other side of the wall. They had to cut out a big section of the drywall, and then they got in and they replaced it.
The plumbing company said they were gonna call and schedule a drywall person to come out and fix the drywall. A week went by and I didn’t hear anything from any drywall companies. So I called the plumbing company back and they connected me with the original plumber, and he said that he had scheduled it American Home Shield, so I needed to call them back. I called American Home Shield and after that, they got a drywall person out. So, from start to finish, it was a week and a half to two weeks between the pipe being fixed and then the drywall being patched. But it wasn’t a super huge deal. I was pleased with the contractor. They fixed it up really quick, and it went very smoothly. The only hiccup was with scheduling the drywall. It was a lot of back and forth.

I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

Updated on 08/12/2019: AHS Customer Service is a misnomer. Their job is to waste your time asking the same questions OVER AND OVER AGAIN; tell you not to worry because they will help you; put on hold for at least 10 to 15 minutes to "check". If you ask for a supervisor, you can disconnected (I was twice) and when one of them says they will connect you, you are put on hold again for at least 15 minutes while they are "looking" for one???? Most importantly, their job it seems is to say that they have to wait for the company they assigned. It will be two weeks tomorrow that we have had no fridge and all I can get is that the company they assigned and who said they fixed the fridge but in reality did not, will call me AGAIN to TRY AGAIN sometime.
Original review: AHS seems to treat all appliances the same. If your fridge breaks down, they seem to think that losing it for AT LEAST 2 weeks while the repair company decides what parts are needed, get authorization from AHS, wait for the parts (3-5 days) and then fix it (MAYBE) is NORMAL. The Company does not seem to understand that a fridge is not like a dishwasher. We can wash our dishes by hand but we cannot keep food if we do not have a fridge. I spent the past week on the phone with them and their repair company and all I can get is "This is how the process is". Next time you are looking for a company, you better check what they say about their service level for appliances that are critical because AHS does not know the difference and they do not care.
Good Morning Sam,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

I purchased the ShieldPlus plan the day I closed on my new home. I called and set up autopay, extended the plan for 2 years, paid the first month fee, and thought everything was was all set. How wrong I was. The first service request I paid for was a Rekey to change all the locks. The contractor reached out to me within the time frame, which was great, but things quickly went downhill after that. He called to say he wouldn't be in my area until next week and that he'd call me. After multiple voices messages, texts, and general back and forth, we couldn't lock in a time.
Meanwhile, I needed to request a plumbing repair. When I logged into my account online to do so, I was blocked from making any service requests because it said I owed the full amount of the cost of the policy. Even though I'd just paid the first month and set up the monthly auto pay, I still had to call back to try to fix the issue. This phone call took an infuriating 1.5 hours to resolve. The two support agents were very nice, which was helpful, but the account was supposed to be set up to be paid monthly. I'd literally just went through the entire process days prior with one of their agents. With all the things you have to do as a new homeowner, AHS has made the transition even worse. The experience has been miserable. Their promotional materials make it seem as if it's the smoothest process in the world, but take it from me, it is not. I hope it gets better from here.
I apologize for the inconvenience Robinette. In a effort to resolve your issue, an email was sent to you. My name is Stacy & I look forward to assisting you.

Where to start? I was an AHS customer for about four (4) years. Despite being on hold for 54 min to 2 hours and 10 minutes, on average and on at least 12 occasions with AHS, I initially thought they were the best option for home warranties. That changed completely once our dishwasher stopped working. To make a very long story short, the very first repair person that came out to investigate reported to AHS that the dishwasher would need to be replaced. Instead of replacing the dishwasher, AHS forced us to call back and wait on hold for hours on end for months, while they continued to send different repairmen out.
The original repairmen even came out a second time several weeks later, and he called and asked us if this was a mistake, as he had already told AHS that the dishwasher would have to be replaced. We told him that AHS refused and continued to send other repairers to investigate. He then called AHS and again told them that the dishwasher would need to be replaced, but they insisted he come out to look at it again. He did, and once again called AHS and told them the washer would need to be replaced. Finally after several frustrating months (all the while caring for a newborn), AHS begrudgingly replaces the washer. I wish that was the end of the story. We then get a letter in the mail stating that AHS was going to start charging us $100 per month for the same plan we had because of the various service calls we had made.
It turns out that each time AHS sent a new repairman for the same issue (which they knew could only be fixed with a replacement since day 1), they opened a new service call, so it looked as if we had made multiple service requests that year. Well, AHS wrote to us to state that they were now going to collect on it. So to add insult to injury, after several long excruciating months, AHS tries to unjustly increase our premiums by 250%, all because of its own mistake in failing to replace the dishwasher after the first repairman reported that this would be the only solution. Had AHS listened to the first repairman, they would have not only saved us the frustration, anxiety, and headaches, but they would have saved themselves hundreds of dollars.
Not only would this be a terrible experience under normal circumstances, but in our case we had a newborn (we called for service again from the hospital just after I delivered) and were planning to use the sterilizer function on our dishwasher to sterilize our newborn's bottles, but we could not because of AHS. Once we received the letter regarding the 250% increase in premiums, we tried calling AHS on multiple occasions (including recently) asking to speak to the cancellation department, the client retention department, the underwriting department, and every other department that was mentioned to us, in an attempt to correct their error regarding the "multiple service calls" so that we could maintain our policy, but to this day (almost a year later and despite our recent calls) we have yet to hear back from anyone.
When we did reach someone in customer service, they stated that they could not transfer us to the cancelation/retention department, and someone would need to call us, but again, no calls to date. AHS has truly terrible customer service, and they will do anything to avoid replacing items that fail. From our experience, it seems they will continue to drag things out in the hopes that the paying customer will give up and resolve the issue on their own.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with AHS.

This is a scam company, with the worst home warranty product ever. I got a warranty with them as part of my closing from my seller. The first day in, we found 2 leaking taps, one of which burst and starting running and flooding my backyard. I called AHS, and they had no emergency service. Asked me to log a service request, assigned it to a contractor, and the contractor that called me said that they can only come out in 4 days. Let the yard flood or go somewhere else for my repair. So I had to call in an emergency plumber on my own dime to fix that tap.
When the AHS contractor did show up in 4 days to look at the second leaking tap, he said that it needed to be replaced, but they did not have a "hose bib valve" in stock and will call me in a day or two. It has been 9 days since that and they still have no update for me, even when I have called them a couple times. AHS is no help either, saying that the contractor will call me when they have the part. Of course, you have already charged me $75 co-pay 2 weeks ago, so who cares, right? Let the tap leak and the problem stay. This is a genuine review, and here is my service ID to prove it - **. I really should be suing this company for breach of service, if only I had the time. Never using them or calling them again.

I have used AHS for my home for 2.5 years. I requested service twice in total. One repair (garage door) went fine, the second (faucets) was very bad. The contractor did not repair the leaky faucet but did leave a hole in my wall. He told me that drywall repair was not his area of responsibility but that a different contractor would come out within a few weeks to repair the wall.
After 4 weeks of no one showing to repair the wall I called AHS to complain but was told I was out of luck because work orders can't be reopened after 30 days. Despite their own contractors lying. On top of this, I had to pay a cancellation fee to cancel the service! And this is on top of the annual price increases of $60 (14%). Waste of money and even bigger waste of money. Avoid.
Your patronage to American Home Shield is more than appreciated. I would be glad to speak with you and resolve your experience with the leak that was repaired.

Update 08/16/2019: Do not expend good service from this company. I had to pay a service fee of $100 to get a technician to come look at my hot water heater. After waiting almost two days I found out that they could not find a vendor in my area.. so I had to arrange to have one come myself. I was told I would have my service fee reimbursed. Well here I am some over a week later and still not reimbursement of my service fee. This company will gladly take your money... but won't provide good service.
Original review: I have had American Home Shield for almost a year. Never had to put in for a service call. Recently I had to, and put it in and it has been over 24 hrs and they still don't have a repair person assigned to come help me. I had called for a/c service on Monday 7/29/19. The technician assigned, HVAC SVCS did not call me so I had to call them for appointment. When the came, he did not explain the problem associated with the a/c. He said it needed coolant, which is $100/lbs and I needed at least 9 pounds. AHS pays $10/lbs and I had to pay the difference. I had told him that I had this filled in mid-June by another technician and if it had evaporated in such a short time, there has to be a leak which should be fixed. Apparently, the technician did not recommend any such service but insisted on filling the gas to collect his money. The R22 coolant is available on-line for $390 for a 30lbs tank. AHS was told about this and their response on 8/1/19 was that they were waiting for report from the technician. 8/2/19, I called again - same response - waiting for response from technician. 8/5/19 - again the same response - waiting for technician report.

Requested service and they didn't have a contractor available for 2 days. Stated the urgency of my repair. My bathroom was flooding! Finally after about 8 hours of phone calls, being placed on hold for several of them I was approved for an outside contractor. Most of their customer service representatives are out of the country and very difficult to understand. I was never informed my contractor had to call to get approval first. I was just denied reimbursement and they still charged me the $75 service call. I will now have to dispute the charge with my credit card company.

I like American Home Shield but I couldn’t get through to a live representative and any time you call to speak to a rep, it’s someone who can’t speak clear English. It’s difficult to get across what I need done because they don’t understand. I went online and filed a claim for the leaking toilet and for the faucet in my other bathroom but the computer didn’t pick it up that way. It looked like it was only for one thing. The mix-up and it being not easy to file a claim online created the length of time.
The plumber came out and looked at the leaking toilet. He tightened the bolt but didn’t check anything else and it turned out to be something else. It took a week before they could send someone out to look at it again. So, I had a leaky toilet for an additional week, which created more water damage. It turned out to be the gasket between the bowl and the tank, so he changed that. He said he couldn’t even look at my second issue, which was my shower in the other bathroom. They sent another plumber out because I refused to have the guy, Edgar, come back. Also, the lady in the office at that plumbing company was rude to me, so I’m not very happy with the company, only the second guy who came out. He was professional, nice and took care of everything. Since then, the performance has been fine.

I went online and submitted a claim with American Home Shield for the AC unit. When I signed up for their program, they recommended that filing a claim online was the best way. And it was a very simple process, so I really appreciate that. The contractors that they've sent were all positive. As a matter of fact, we had an issue where we had to do a recall, and they were very helpful. We had some questions and they gave us good advice about even dealing with AHS. Overall, I’ve been impressed by the initial contact process, and then coming out, and the communication. I’ve been very impressed by having the service. I just recommended them to a family member.

I would recommend American Home Shield. Our most recent claim was for the AC and it went perfectly fine. It was very easy to do our claim online, and they also got back to us right after we signed off. They got right to us and told us who would be contacting us. The issue happened on a Saturday. So, they weren’t able to get back to us until that Monday. And then that Friday is when someone came out. He knew exactly what the problem was and he had the equipment right on his truck. It was like a tiny canister that he just had to replace. He was prepared.

We had a leaking toilet and we had a faucet in one of the showers that wasn’t functioning. When I was submitting the claim with AHS, I first tried to do it online. But every time I did that, it would not work because my phone number and zip code were screwed up. So, I called my claim them in then they asked me a bunch of questions that I had to answer. I kinda walked them through and after that, they said that they found me. So somehow, our phone number and zip code must’ve got input wrong when we bought the contract. But now the online thing should work because whoever I spoke with last time fixed it.
After I submitted the claim, AHS sent out Rex’s Heating & Cooling. Their tech came out three times and he was very nice. His service was also very good. On the first trip, the shower faucet got fixed and he put in a couple of parts in the toilet to fix the leak. But the leak didn’t get fixed and there was another problem that was related to the joint or the coupling in the floor. So he came back, took the toilet out, and put in a new one of that thing in the floor where the toilet goes through that you put the seals on. Also, he didn’t have the parts the last time he came out because he didn’t expect to take the toilet out and find that thing that sticks out of the floor that was screwed up.
Then, he had to cut a hole on the floor in the lower bathroom. We thought everything was fixed and so did he, but the toilet still continued to leak. During that second time, he tightened up the tank the first time but did not take it off. So the third time he came back, he had to take the tank off. Also, it turned out that there was a gasket that got squashed down so it wasn’t working properly and that was where the water was leaking. So, there were three separate leaks in the toilet and they got fixed one at a time. It was Monday when the tech last came out. It's Wednesday now and it’s not leaking, so that's good news. The only thing open now is we’ll wait a little bit more and make sure it’s not leaking, then holler AHS. That’s what they told us to do.
So far, we’ve had American Home Shield several times before and when we submit a claim, they would say that they would see if they could repair something. We had an air conditioner at our old house and they came out three times to work on it. We also had an electric tankless water heater, which was junk, and AHS fixed it a couple of times. And when I asked the tech why they didn't just replace the thing, they said that AHS wouldn't replace it, so they had to fix it a few times.

I called American Home Shield when the air conditioner wasn’t cooling and the representative I spoke with was very good. This time, it was a good experience all the way around. That worked out really good. The AC is going pretty good now.

On May 14th, I called American Home Shield because my stove went out. The information said somebody would call me within 24 hours. I got a call later that day and a guy said he would be out that Thursday. I specifically told him that was fine but I could not be here between 2:30 and 3:00. I told him to call me 20 minutes ahead so that I could make sure that if it was gonna be between that time, I could have somebody there until I can get there. He said that was fine.
That Thursday, he called me at 2:35 and said he would be there in five minutes. I reminded him of what I had specifically told him about calling 20 minutes ahead as I was not available between 2:30 and 3:00. I told him I would head over there but I wouldn't be there in five minutes. He told me that there was nothing he could do. He would be out of the city. But as soon as he got back to the office, he would call me and schedule an appointment. I never heard anything all day Thursday and Friday.
I called American Home Shield back on Friday afternoon. They said they would send someone else out. There was no call on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I called back on Monday and they said they sent the service request to somebody. They should be calling me any time that day. Finally, I called Tuesday morning. The contractor said they got the service request last night. American Home Shield was supposed to send it over Friday but the contractor didn't get it until Monday.
It took me two weeks to get somebody to come out. Finally, a technician came out and fixed the top part of my stove. For the bottom part, they had to order a part which was fine. The part came about a week and a half later but it was broken. The technician put the part in and told me to use the stove to make sure that it worked. I did but the stove did not work. I called again. Nobody knew anything about it. It took me another week and a half before somebody figured it out.
They decided to order another part. The guy came out and said the first technician should have checked the part before he left their shop. I sat here waiting for three hours for the second technician to come in and say that the part didn't work as it was broken. They were gonna have to put in a request to replace the stove. I was without a stove for another two weeks. I couldn't even use the top part. The technician turned the power off because he had to take the power board.
I waited a couple of days before I called because I didn't hear anything about it. But nobody knew anything. Everything was a mess. I finally got ahold of somebody. American Home Shield finally said they were sending me a link. I was to go on and accept the stove which I did. They didn't send out the same people that they sent out to fix the stove. The ones who came at that time said they couldn't install the new stove. It was a hardwire installation and they were not allowed to do that. I called American Home Shield immediately but nobody could help me. I was told I had to go through the purchasing department. This was a Friday afternoon and the purchasing department was closed. There was nothing they could do until Monday.
I called on Monday but I couldn't get through the purchasing department. For some reason, their lines were down and nothing was working. I called back and spoke with somebody. They finally said that I didn't need the purchasing department. They could take care of the issue. They were gonna send somebody else out. They had somebody call me and I asked them if they were licensed or if they were certified to do hardwire installation. I was told Appliance Worx was going to be called because they were the ones who were supposed to be sent out as they were the ones that came out the first two times.
But they called me back and said that Appliance Worx was not certified to do the installation either. American Home Shield was gonna send Rapid Appliance out instead. I got a call from Rapid Appliance and I asked them if they were allowed to install hardwire. They told me they didn't know and that they would call me back. They called me back a half-hour later and said they were allowed to install hardwire. I had an appointment for the following Friday. But they called me that afternoon before saying they couldn't do the service as they were overbooked. They could come out the following week.
They finally came out the following week. They were supposed to be here at 7:30 in the morning because of all the times that they had me waiting. They contacted me and said they were running late. Somebody's car broke down. They finally showed up about at 11 o'clock. They got the stove installed. That took me more than two months.
When I signed up for American Home Shield, one of the first things I asked was if they do what they are supposed to do. I had two policies previously. The first policy I had came with the house when we bought it. That was 20 years ago. That worked perfectly and I had no problems. The second policy I had was horrible. It was a nightmare dealing with them. I told American Home Shield that if they were not legitimate, I didn't need the hassle. There were other companies out there. They said they were really good. But with my experience with my stove, I am very dissatisfied even though everything is fine now and the stove is working. Getting through their process was ridiculous.
I apologize for the inconvenience Tenette. I've sent you an email in a effort to resolve your issue. My name is Stacy and I look forward to assisting you.

I had a problem with an AC unit and when I submitted a claim with AHS, they sent out Simtech Services. They were very professional and very knowledgeable. It's been a week since the repair and so far, I haven't seen any condensation water come out the pipes. I just called them about that, so this is still an ongoing problem. Their tech told me that they were starting to close but he said he was gonna try to see if he could swing by. I don't want any more problems and I wanna make sure everything is right before it gets worse again.
This AC unit issue has been going on for three months now and I had several bad experiences with the other technicians that AHS sent out. Most of them were inappropriate up until the last one. In fact, Simtech was the best technician that came out. The other techs didn't wanna do the job, so they gave inappropriate diagnosis and that lingered on to bigger problems. In total, AHS sent three different companies out. The first company sent a guy who was drunk. He just looked at the system and didn't do any diagnosis. Then, he got on his phone and called his boss. I went upstairs at the time and when I came back, he got his feet on the door.
So, I called American Home Shield and they told me that he gave a diagnosis that was really foolish. But they said that they had to stick by what the technician said. Then, they sent another person out for a second opinion and he said that he couldn't really do anything because the AC was working. He said that the only way he could repair it or American Home Shield would replace it is if it breaks down. So then I called AHS for a third time. I was getting ready to cancel my contract because I was frustrated. I have a relative that has cancer who is living with me and I have to keep him cool at all times. Then, the guy from Simtech came in. He diagnosed the whole system and checked all the parts. Then he did the repairs and what that other technicians could have done.
Aside from that, the last two people I talked to at AHS were really helpful and I really appreciate them for that. When I called the last time, I was outraged and very upset, so they calmed me down. But the other customer service rep I talked to could care less. Still, I'm very satisfied with AHS. I don't think anybody that has a home warranty should go through what I went through. It was 100 degrees at one day and it was torture. But I know that American Home Shield helps some people that have concerns.
Hi Ricky,
Your feedback is more than appreciated and I hope the contractor is able to follow up with the leak request.

Integrity Plumbing came out because I just had a hot water heater put in there by a previous company, and it never really worked very well from the get-go. It just wasn’t working properly. And when you turn the hot water on, it would completely shut off. But I thought maybe that was just the way that it is now. Like I don’t know anything about that stuff. So, it just continued to get worse. I called AHS right away when it was not working at all. I submitted the claim like 2:00 in the afternoon, and somebody called me at like 11:00 that next morning.
I really would not recommend the previous company that made the repair the last time, it was through AHS as well. I felt like they were just trying to make as much money as they could off of me. Like they had all these different levels that they were talking about. And one of the levels they were talking about was like $2,000 out-of-pocket. And I was like, “I’m not paying you $2,000. I have a warranty. You shouldn’t be getting any money out of me.”
This new guy with Integrity Plumbing was more informative. They were super helpful and they were very communicative. So, I got texts. They were quick to respond too. And actually, I had a personal issue that I needed to have the repair taken care of because I had to go out of town. And so, the owner was aware of that, and he added me to the end of one of his days so that it could get done before I left. It seemed to be working fine now, nothing was leaking. And the contractor cleaned up after himself too. I was very impressed with him. I had a great experience.

American Home Shield's online process is much easier than calling them to file a claim. The online thing is automated and my recent experience with them was great. The claims process was quick but the problem was with the people assigned to fix the issue. They were not available to come on Monday and it was too bad that the problem happened on a weekend. Other than that, the techs were nice and very professional. We were satisfied with their service.
Good Morning Lelia,

The motor of my washing machine went out. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and found their online process easy to navigate. The contractor whom they sent was the guy who has worked on my refrigerators before and he was very professional. He knows what he's doing, gets in and doesn't spend half a day looking around. He replaced the motor but then once he did that, he found that the transmission was bad. That part alone was $473 so rather than fixing my old washer, AHS replaced it with a new one. Overall, I like American Home Shield. However, when I call, nobody amongst their reps can ever give much information about what's going on. It's like the ball is dropped. Still, once their contractor gets to my place, things move along well.

American Home Shield sent Appliance Tech for our stove. Their service was excellent. They fixed the issue and the stove has been working good since they've been out. My experience is good.

This is the first time I’m having a home warranty system claim and American Home Shield has been outstanding so far. It was about a couple of days after I filed the claim that the contractor was out there. I was surprised when I spoke to him, he knew that my air conditioning system is old. He put some dye in the system which nobody had never done in the past just to try to find the leak. The problem was it was low on Freon. He recharged the system so once the Freon will get low again and I call them back out again, hopefully they’ll be able to find the leak at that time and they can repair the system. The contractor did what he was supposed to do, did an outstanding job on it, and the air conditioning unit has been cooling since.

The pan of my AC seemed to have water in it more often than we thought it should At the time, we were selling our house and the new owners wanted to have it checked before we closed that day. I went online to submit a claim to American Home Shield and they called me up. The tech they sent came out and found that nothing was wrong with our AC. They were quick and efficient.

The AC was leaking on the outside and I called American Home Shield to file the claim. Other people had a difficult time but it was easy for me. Airmax, the contractor, came out the day after I called and the tech was great. He did a very good job and he was very thorough. He got it fixed in one visit.

American Home Shield called me back within an hour of submitting my claim online. The rep was very polite and she scheduled me right away. They sent out a plumber to repair a valve that was leaking. The plumber was great. We live in a gated community, and he was familiar with our neighborhood, so he knew his way in. He got right to it and figured out what the problem was, and he was able to solve it for me.

I submitted a claim for a compressor that broke and it took a long time. That's what I was unhappy about. It took seven days for it to get taken care of in the middle of the summer heat. I stressed that to American Home Shield, and they said it was in the company's hands. They were done with it. In other words, we had to wait on the company to take care of it.
They said it takes like a 24-hour time for the company to fax the paperwork over. When I haven't heard anything, I called American Home Shield back two days later. I got the number from American Home Shield and I called Total Air Care. The rep said American Home Shield hadn't approved it yet. I called American Home Shield back, and they said it was approved. So, I was calling back and forth. They were like, "You have to wait until this gets resolved." I waited another couple of days, and I called back. Finally, somebody came out and American Home Shield had to approve it again. They had to wait for a part, and something else had to get approved so it took kind of a long time. I kept on asking American Home Shield if there was any way that they could help me to purchase the window air condition and they told me no. It was not the best experience.
The worker was a nice man. He worked real hard. It was pouring rain and he even worked through the rain. He fixed it fine but I was upset because the timing took so long. The office workers just didn't seem to have it together. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield. I've been a customer for many years and every other experience was okay. Before the air conditioning system problem, I had no problem. I thought American Home Shield gave me a pretty good service.
When it comes to air conditioning, American Home Shield should be a little bit more accommodating to the people living in Florida because of high temperature. It's grueling to be without air even for a couple of hours, let alone eight days. It's very uncomfortable. American Home Shield should at least try to accommodate those kind of people by having backup air condition companies, and these parts made available faster, and getting this approval. I had to beg American Home Shield. I was calling them for help. I got disconnected a few times from them, and nobody returned my call. They do have my number on file and they have my case open but they never called me right back. I'm gonna start looking into other companies that would maybe do this better for me in the future. I wanna be treated like a paying customer.
Ann,
I hate to hear that you were not satisfied with the service received with AHS. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist you with your unresolved issues regarding this request. Thanks for your patience.

There was a plumbing problem and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. It was one claim where two issues came in. There was a leak that went down through my ceiling and there was mold that we noticed in the ceiling tile from an empty room. The contractor was professional and he got to the problem right away. He looked at the source of the problem and looked deeper into it. It was one of two areas and it could’ve even been two different problems that caused it. So, he resolved one of the problems that was within the realm of his scope and that was good. He did everything he needed to do. He did it quickly and he explained it in such a way that I could understand what he was doing and why he was doing it. So, he even went beyond to help me understand what I needed to do on my end.
There’s still mold in the ceiling and the ceiling tile but that isn’t in his area as a contractor. Also, we had a tornado hit my house. With the big, high winds, there was this water that came down through the vents that happened where some more water came into the same area which caused the water into that area. This other issue is going to be resolved when the other contractor puts a new roof on and other areas are sealed.

The floor drain in the basement was getting backed up and not draining. I filed a claim online to AHS for it. That part was just easy. This last one kinda had complications, but somebody came out within 48 hours. AHS sent a third party instead of Wilkes Plumbing, and then they said that it wasn’t covered. The contractor said that they could put a camera down to see what the problem is and fix it. We did that, and they charged us $300 to just put a camera in there. They didn’t try to fix it. But I like AHS. They’re very easy to work with. With this last one, we’ve been having issues. But it sounds like they’re gonna work to fix it. They’re supposed to get back to me ‘cause they think it is covered.

I submitted a claim online for my AC to American Home Shield and their website was very straightforward. It was user-friendly, easy to navigate and it had clear demarcation of the products or appliances included in my contract. Once I logged the call, I got a communication from AHS' contractor within a few hours and scheduled an appointment within a few days. There was pretty good continual communication about when they were gonna arrive. They arrived on time and they were good. Since then, the AC has been working as it should.
