    My AC got broken for 2 month before contract end. I contacted this company to fix it. It was hot and agent promised to fix it ASAP. On next day they canceled my request. For my question, "why did you cancel my request?", they said that contractor did this and assigned new contractor. I was waiting for new contractor for half of day and he just said - "Sorry we don't service such AC like this, please contact another company." AHS assigned another company for me but he even didn't contact me. All this took 20 days. 20 days my AC is broken and me and my family are in hot. Today I canceled my contract. Don't waste your time and money.

    Do Not Buy This Warranty!! They denied fixing my air conditioner as a pre-existing condition. I placed a claim for service for my air conditioning unit. I was told the unit had coverage. I paid a $100 service fee and the technician told me he tested the system for leaks. He said that the leak test came back inconclusive. He said that the Freon most likely leaked out of the evaporative coil and I would need another one. I waited 6 days, hadn’t heard anything so I called American Home Shield. They told me my claim was denied because this was a “pre-existing condition” that I knew nothing about. She told me that this fell under “undetectable pre-existing conditions which are defects or mechanical failures” that could not have been detected by visual inspection.

    Essentially, any time any of your systems break, they could say it’s a pre-existing condition. She said that since it took time for it to leak out of the system it was a pre-existing condition. I told her that it’s not a defect or mechanical failure because I’ve had the system since 2006. If it were with of those two things this would’ve happened sooner than that. She told me I could not appeal the decision. That American Home Shield does not have an appeals process. She said my only recourse was small claims court. Now I’m locked into a contract for a worthless system of repairs I’ll never be able to utilize.

    First time we needed to contact American Home Shield and have been very frustrated. Cried when I read others reviews. Sad that what the two different agreements that we have paid for in 3 years, say will happen with the AHS warranty services... have not happened. "We strive to make your life easier and we are here for you to request service 24/7." This has not made life easier and I would not consider this timely service. I have called multiple times and weeks later, still don't have a working refrigerator & freezer in our house. I am frustrated, worried and beyond disillusion about what a home warranty is really suppose to be for and why people should pay for one when they move into a home. Scared that if anything else were to need to be attended to, this same thing will happen again. Very concerned & feel that this has not and is not what was represented that we were paying for and what the paperwork says is their agreement.

    I am complaining because your company refused to cover for the repair service of air conditioning system. I have been covered since October 2003, and continued paying my monthly premium for the last sixteen years. After being a loyal client to your company, you refused to cover the cost of the repair for unjustified reason.

    When I first learned of this problem, I contacted one of your agents at your company, and was told that nothing could be done about my problem. I believe that this response is unfair because the reason that I am getting from your agent is just an excuse not to cover the cost. I have been a loyal client for more than sixteen years and you couldn't even consider that I have been paying all this time for nothing. Through out the years, I payed your company over $9000.00. Currently, I have a mother in my house that needs an intensive care because of brain surgery and the condition of the house is inconvenient for my mother. After pleading with you about my mum’s condition, your agent made fun of the situation. He suggested that “I should fix out of pocket and call the company to insure the new air-condition”. The inhumanity that your company showed towards me and my mother is revolting.

    Our A/C system was not keeping our home maintained to a comfortable level. We have been with AHS for 17 years, 2 years in Scottsdale and 15 years in Tucson. They always seemed liked they cared and they send reliable certified contractors to our home to get us back on track. They were called out in the middle of July 2019 when the average temperature high is 112 degrees. They send out a criminal HVAC technician who told us we needed 5 pound of freon in our unit, he was here for 3 minutes when he came up with that diagnosis. He then let us know that American Home Shield only cover $10 per pound of freon and that the retail cost for freon is $125 per pound. So we are on the hook for $115 per pound, we agreed because the temperature that day was 112 degree like I mentioned earlier.

    After we gave him permission to load the freon he was back in 4 minutes saying he was finished. Mind you he never bother to check the temp coming from the vents before he made his mind up to fill us up with freon, and he didn't bother to check the vents to see the temp and verify the unit was truly operational. During this time I called AHS to verify the measly $10 per pound they were going to pay. I asked them if this seemed right and they thought it was a lot to add without checking other components but they didn't offer me any other solution other than not pay and suffer in the heat or pay and hope it works.

    Once he was done, we gave him our credit card to cover the outrageous freon bill of $575 to be told that they only accept cash or checks. What would have happened if I didn't have a check with me or cash. This seem very smarmy and unprofessional. We wrote the check and we asked for the work order showing the work that was performed by him and he produced nothing. He said this was normal business procedure. I told him we were very uneasy paying $575 and no getting a receipt for the work performed or an answer as to what caused our system to leak freon if that was really true. We were told that a work order will be email to us by the end of the day. That never happened and we called and left messages for the owner of the business A-OK AIR CONDITIONING & REFRIGERATION LLC.

    To this day we have never been provided a repair order to know the status of our unit prior to the work and after the work and even if the freon was added to the unit. The unit is still not cooling our home properly. We have called AHS no less than 10 times to resolve this issue and the representatives are very cordial and act like they are going to escalate this to manager with promises of a follow up call the next day and not one time have they kept their word. I am not sure who is worse, AHS for sending us a horrible HVAC technician company with a nasty reputation or the HVAC contractor. Either way our next course of action is to file a claim with the Registrar of Contractors in Arizona against AHS and A-OK AIR Conditioning.

    The refrigerator was not getting cold, and it took a few days for the contractor to come out because of scheduling on both ends. When they’ve gone in there, almost everything on the fridge side was replaced. But the fan sounds like it is grinding on something every now and again. The fridge seems to be holding the temperature, but it is making a lot of noise. I originally put my claim in on April 4th or 5th, and it just got repaired about two weeks ago. It was over four months, and I’ve lost a lot of groceries due to it. The technicians came out around six or eight times.

    American Home Shield sent out several different guys. One guy was real good. Then they sent a Samsung expert, and he said that if he can’t fix it, nobody can fix it, and he didn't get it fixed. And then they sent the first guy over again, and they sent him over two more times. They finally send another guy, and he ended up coming in, getting the part, and then it has been too long. I've been real patient and I try to keep my cool, but this has taken as long as it has. It is unfortunate that we have to go through this, but I'll always push American Home Shield because they have been good prior to this time. I would recommend them.

    Most recently, I had a claim with American Home Shield for my air conditioner. My outdoor air conditioner had a very noisy motor, so I made that claim. I did it online on my phone. The website is great. It’s their follow-up call center that I really had some trouble with. I called the AC guy this latest time and he was fine. He had to come out a couple times because there were some issues going on, but he was fine. He kept running into problems. But he was super fast this last time, so I’m not even gonna complain. He was really trying to fix my problem and he communicated well.

    Prior to that, I called in for an electrical issue with some outlets that didn't work. I did it online. The guy came out, and I didn't really like him. He was sorta iffy. He looked at the problem and he said he would need to report this back to American Home Shield, which he did, and American Home Shield denied the claim because he said it wasn’t in code. Our house wasn’t in “code”. And so, we were disappointed in that. American Home Shield denied the claim and he gave us a quote of $1,000 to fix the problem. I was like, “Okay. Shoot. I don’t have that money right now. I have to wait on this.” So, I waited about two months, and I thought, “Okay, the problem still isn't fixed. It’s not gonna fix itself, so I’m gonna call this guy.”

    My wife didn't really like this guy and I should’ve probably reported him to American Home Shield. I don’t wanna throw somebody under the bus, but this guy was pretty bad. And anyway, I called them and made the appointment. My wife took the day off work. He was a no-show. I called them. There was no answer. I left three messages, but there was no answer. My wife said the guy was terrible. He huffed and puffed around the house. He acted frustrated. She said he acted like he didn't wanna be here and he made a comment about the warranty company not being that great. He was kinda saying some bad things about American Home Shield.

    I called American Home Shield, and this is where the problem started. That guy wasn’t great, which American Home Shield probably didn't know and it’s not their fault. But the problem I’m having is when I called, I talked to people that can barely speak English. It sounded like they were from the Philippines. I called in three or four times to let them know that the company sounded like it’s out of business. I couldn’t even get them to come out to my house, and I don’t even trust this guy’s original diagnosis because he wasn’t that great in the first place. I asked if they could send out somebody that could re-diagnose my electrical problem. And I felt like I shouldn’t be charged the 125. The guy I spoke with said they were gonna have to charge me another $125. When I asked if they could help me out because they referred me to this guy, they said they couldn't do that. So, I told them to revisit it.

    I called back two days later and got another rep who had no notes. They said, “Give us a couple days and call us back,” which I did. And a new rep had to go through the notes. I had explained the whole thing over again. And these people don’t speak very good English. And so, that’s our problem, and I never had this problem before. It sounds like American Home Shield sends their call center overseas to save money.

    I couldn't call the call center again. I actually called and hit one of the options to buy a contract and that put me back into the United States, which got me a very good English-speaking woman who understood. I finally got somebody that cared enough to help me out. And I went ahead and paid the $125 to get a new electrical contractor out, and American Home Shield sent a second guy out. He fixed it on the spot. So, that $1,000 quote was bogus, and this guy fixed it on the spot. American Home Shield refunded my money, which is great. The house is fixed, and everything’s fine.

    American Home Shield sent out Wright Appliance to repair the ice maker in my fridge as it quit working. They were good. They got the part ordered and it took two weeks for the part to be shipped to them. They then called me when it arrived and scheduled when they could come out. All in all, that took two weeks at the most. My unit is working fine now.

    I wasn't getting any water from the sink in the kitchen and in the bathroom. MSE Plumbing was sent by American Home Shield. They called within 48 hours to set up an appointment. However, nothing has changed since the contractor has been out. He didn't do anything to it. He just checked to see the water pressure is very low. And it's not the faucet, it's the actual plumbing. American Home Shield said they were gonna send somebody else out and no one's come out yet. It's been about two weeks. They also said they were gonna contact me back, and no one has. I'll call them back.

    When our ice maker made ice overnight, the ice would sit and it would drip water. It wasn’t frozen. It was creating this block of ice. The turn that kept the ice loose that feeds it out to you was frozen. Two or three times every day, I would have had to take the ice and slide out the ice maker drawer. It wouldn’t hold the ice. I would have to get that ice out. I called this issue in with American Home Shield and their rep was great. I was then called a few minutes after I got off the phone with the representative. My assigned contractor was wonderful and the service was professional. The technician was prompt and on time. He put in a new ice maker. It's working perfectly.

    I had an air conditioning issue one time and it wasn't getting cold. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. However, I don't appreciate that when I speak to their rep, that rep is in a foreign land 'cause I have a lot of trouble understanding him/her and that's terrible. The first time their contractor came, I wasn't home. Another person came in thereafter and the AC was fine. It turned out that the problem was a circuit breaker issue. Everything is fine now. I've recommended AHS to a couple of people already.

    Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for two issues. One, we had a drip in one of our faucets, and the other was we had a backed-up sink. We had to call ‘cause if you have more than one issue and if it’s the same area like plumbing, you can submit a multiple claim but you can’t do it online, you have to call them. My wife called and talked with them, but in general, they tend to be very helpful. Also, the plumber did a great job. He came and fixed both at the same time. The only thing that would be awesome is if you have multiple issues at the same time for the same system, that would allow you to just enter that off the web versus having to call in.

    My AC was running but it wasn't cooling. I submitted a claim online to AHS and found that their website works pretty well. If we have something really specific to say, we don't have the opportunity to do that. But we got an opportunity to do so when the person they sent contacted us. Their contractor would have come quicker but I wasn't available on the first day. They would have come the next day but then I wasn't available either. They came the day after that. They were very quick according to my schedule. Everything has been going fine since then.

    The dishwasher started leaking on the floor until it stopped working. Then I started looking into it myself to see if it was just something I could fix right away. I called American Home Shield and then I thought it was the hose, so I cancelled that first call and went and got a hose at Menards and then came back. The hose kit that they sold me, that fits any dishwasher, didn’t fit. So I took it back and they said I needed to get this extra fitting. So I bought that, came back home and that didn’t fit.

    I called AHS back and made another appointment. They had somebody else come in at first but the second time I called, it was GE, which was even better because it’s a GE dishwasher. The guy came out, pulled the dishwasher out, checked it and ordered the parts. He said it seemed like the parts are on back order, so it could be a while. He made me a tentative appointment but he said that probably won’t be the real appointment but we’re gonna do it so that’ll try to rush things. He gave me a GE phone number and said to call that the next day and ask why it was taking so long and if they could put a rush on my parts. If you call them, that would get it faster. I did and the part actually came in two days.

    The technician came back the next week and rebuilt the dishwasher. He replaced everything underneath and put the dishwasher together. It took him a couple of hours and it has been working great ever since. It has worked better than it had in the last few years. It has probably been bad for quite a while and we just didn’t know it.

    I really like American Home Shield. My assistant does the call for the claims and they respond quickly. Somebody calls back and say the available time of the contractor. I like the people that they have that fixes whatever we need. When I had a claim for the air conditioner, the contractor spent about 30 minutes to fix the problem with the vent. It was quick and they did a really good job. Everything is working fine.

    My filter was blowing junk back into the pool. The filter gets clogged and dirty, and you backwash it to clean it out. When you’re finished doing that, you turn it back on, then put the controls on filter, and it starts pumping water and filtering whatever is on there. So, when mine went bad, it started throwing stuff back into the pool. I called American Home Shield to file a claim. The contractor came, did their job, and left. And when I asked questions, their service guys answered the first time they came out. They had to come out twice because they didn’t fix the issue the first time. On the first time, the technician replaced a couple gaskets on the control lever that you switch the pool from filter to backwash. And he said that the unit that sits on top of the pipes had leaked and he thought that that pressure was bleeding off causing it to blow stuff back into the pool.

    I told him, “I think you could take that thing out and it wouldn’t cause it to blow stuff back in the pool.” But he disagreed. My problem with the first time they came out and until the second time was after the technician changed those gaskets in that control arm, he told me I had to wait a week. And so, I couldn’t move that control arm until the next Wednesday. So I had to leave the pool on filter for a week, which meant I couldn’t backwash so I couldn’t really see what was going on. So, I waited a week. I could have done it the next Wednesday, but I didn’t talk to them until the next Thursday. So, I waited an extra day.

    And the other problem was, as soon as the pool started running, there was a little pressure gauge on top, and the pressure was up. I backwashed, and I put some DE in it. I put more DE in, turned it on, and I put it back on the pool, then I called them. I told them what was happening and they said they would call and have Knock Out Pools come back. I’ve had Knock Out Pools for a number of issues on my pool over the years. Normally, I haven’t had any issues. And I didn’t really have any this time except I had to wait a week after the repair for someone to check the pool out. But everything is good now. I would recommend American Home Shield.

    We woke up one morning and the safety thing of the hot water tank was shooting a stream of water in the corner of the laundry room. So, we turned the water off to the whole house and figured it out so that the stream would go into a bucket. I draped a towel over it so that the water would hit the towel and drip into a bucket. Then, I went to an email that I had gotten from American Home Shield, looked for how do I go about doing the claim, and I followed the steps. After I called them, they sent out the techs from Three Brothers Plumbing. I was told to expect the contractors out within 24 hours and I called them too after I filed the claim just to give them a heads up of what was going on and I described it to them. They said that it needed to be fixed right away or it was gonna flood our house. So, they came out lickety-split and replaced it on the same day. So, we were just tickled.

    The techs were also extremely friendly, understanding and very professional. They knew exactly what to bring and it was like they’ve been doing this forever. I felt very comfortable having them in my home, too. Since the repair, everything has been working so good and we were so happy and grateful that everything got taken care of so quickly. We were also really thankful that we purchased our home warranty and that we have a plan in place in case something goes wonky. In fact, we did it 45 days before the issue happened, though we weren’t anticipating anything breaking or nothing was already broken at the time.

    Navigating American Home Shield's website was okay. I submitted a claim for a ceiling fan and a GFCI outlet. However, I won't renew with AHS because one of their reps was rude when I talked to her. One of the supervisors called me, so I talked to somebody anyway. Afterward, AHS' contractor Kelly Brothers Electric was really good and gave a window for when they would be out. That day, I had taken time off from work and got tired of dealing with them. I got two different stories. First, they said they had a car accident and then they said the car broke down. Also, the tech who came fixed my ceiling fan but then came out with a different color than I asked.

    I had called previously saying I wanted the same color that was up and the tech had taken a picture of it with his phone. But then the rep forgot to put that request in their computer. The tech may have gotten scared as he couldn't recognize the color so instead of bringing bronze, he brought dark brown, which was totally different. Still, I was frustrated at the time so I just let the techs come do their job and go. Despite these issues, I'm satisfied with AHS overall.

    Before I bought the place the bottom of the commode was caulked around. And it was wasting away, and was leaking out. I called AHS and the contractor was here in good time and was very businesslike. He put in a new seal, put the commode back down and then left. I called him back because I forgot to tell him that it was also running. He wouldn't have had to come back, probably, because what he did in the beginning wasn't what I was originally calling about. But he came back and replaced the entire insides and then put a new handle on it also. That handle he put in, once in a while catches, and I have to remember to make sure that it shuts off. Nevertheless, I'm very well satisfied. American Home Shield did a good job. They got a good plumber out. In the past, I had not had a good experience. But this is a different plumber, so I'm pleased with that.

    Our recent claim with American Home Shield went okay. We really thought our air conditioner was going out. It’s original, it’s 35 years old, and we still have to run it all night to keep it cool in here. But the technician put us a new thermostat on there. I had a programmable one, but it didn’t seem to be working anymore so he put a new one on there for us. We were satisfied. He checked out the unit itself and said it was fine. But I think the air conditioner is on its last leg, so it doesn’t seem to cool down.

    We have to run the air conditioner all night long. We’re gonna have a heck of a power bill. I ran it all night long last night. When I got up this morning, I looked at it and it was 77 degrees in here. Yesterday, during the day, it got up to 80 one time, with the air conditioner on. The funny thing about American Home Shield is that they’re not gonna do anything until it goes out. We already know that. And so, that’s what we have to wait on, which is kinda ridiculous. The contractors were very professional and told us when they’d be here and they were here when they said they were gonna be.

    I called in my claim for the air conditioner because there was no option on American Home Shield's website to have an expedited service call. I live in Arizona and the temperature was almost 110 at the time, and I have a toddler in my home. The first time that I submitted the claim, the first person got everything correct and he said I would get a confirmation Sunday morning that they would have someone coming out. I got the automated email that said that the contractor would contact me in 24 to 48 hours. So, I had to call back, and the first agent did not put it in correctly. The second agent took care of it.     I had a leakage in my garage right underneath the kitchen so there was water dripping. When I logged on the call, the pipe guy was able to reach me the next day and the service was perfect. He needed to see where the leakage was from so he cut an area open, and immediately, he identified the cause of the leakage. It was not the pipe. It was the refrigerator which was leaking. He did a perfect job of troubleshooting but not necessarily providing the solution 'cause he was not the right guy to do it. I needed to find a refrigerator guy to really fix the problem.

    The pipe guy tried to file that to American Home Shield and while I was waiting for American Home Shield to give me the right guy to contact me, the leakage was so bad and I couldn't wait. I had to call another guy to come fix the problem for me. By then, it was already Sunday morning. The American Home Shield refrigerator guy contacted me on Sunday afternoon, and I told him no need anymore 'cause I found another person to fix it. The experience with the pipe guy was perfect but with American Home Shield, the time for the solution was not so good.

    AHS has been good as far as getting something set up in a timely manner, and all the contractors they use has been great. The only concern I’m having is the lengthy hold when it gets to the warranty part of actually replacing the product. I’ve had a couple lengthy waits, trying to reach someone. I stayed on hold for long periods of time. One time, I stayed on there for over an hour before I got somebody. And the time before that, it was around 40 minutes. I hung up because I couldn't stay on hold any longer. I didn't even get anybody the first time. They don't have a lot of people in that call center to handle the warranty claims. While I was on hold, they said they were experiencing heavy call volume, and that they expect longer-than-normal waits, and that they were working to correct that problem.

    When the ice maker was not working, the contractor that AHS sent out was knowledgeable. They were super nice people, and the tech knew what he was doing. I would highly recommend their company. I’ve also used AHS before when I purchased a house a few years back, and I had a great experience with them then, so I knew that they were gonna be good this time as well. The cost of the warranty is very reasonable, and I’ve had a good relationship with them. They only offered a one-year home warranty, but I purchased a two-year home plan.

    The contractor that American Home Shield assigned for the garage door had to reschedule the service call. I was outside when they came and they couldn't wait for 15 minutes for me to come home. So they rescheduled it the next day and they came and solved the problem. A component failed so they had to replace it. They were real knowledgeable and they did good. But I wish they could have just waited for 15 minutes to resolve the problem before rescheduling it for next day.

    There was a problem with the air conditioner. And whenever the guy came to fix the air conditioner, we discovered that it was an electrical problem. And so, he contacted Crown Electric, and they came that same day and had to replace one of the breakers because when the air conditioner would come on, it would throw the breakers. So, what we thought was an air condition problem turned out to be a breaker problem. And they came and were all just spectacularly wonderful, and everything was fixed that day.     The tub leaked like a sieve and American Home Shield had a guy come over. He did the best he could but it wasn’t good enough. It started dripping right after and I had a fella come back and fix it. When I call American Home Shield to submit a claim, the experience is always lovely and when they send a contractor out, the time is always reasonable too. I’ve had a few contractors and they were polite and efficient, except a couple of times. But pretty much, if they said they were gonna come, they would come within the time frame and do the work. If they didn’t do the work and I was not happy, they would come back. In general, AHS works great. The kid that came out looked about 18 and he was extremely experienced. I was so impressed.     I closed on my house on the 30th of July. I made a claim with American Home Shield for the rekeying of my house and a guy came out. He did a very good job at it. I also made a claim regarding our garage door. Our garage door itself needed repairing but I found out through American Home Shield that only the opener is covered. The technicians came on time, talked to me through the entire process, and told me everything. When they did an assessment, they determined that the garage opener was fine and that they could replace my entire door but that would be on my expense. They told me that if after replacing the door and the opener started to malfunction, I could call American Home Shield back and get that replaced. Overall, I feel that things were handled correctly.     We had the ceiling fan in our master bedroom repaired and when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, it was really user-friendly. There was also timely response on service. Then when the service call was happening, we got a text to let us know when the service guy was on his way. Then he himself called to let us know that he was about 20 minutes away. He arrived and was supposed to fix the problem and close off the ticket. But even though he didn’t fix it all the way the first time, they were very accommodating at our first availability and they were able to accommodate us further in getting it fixed. He said he needed to make a minor adjustment in the wiring, which he did. Then he went through all of the speed of the ceiling fan and everything was fine.

    The garbage disposal wasn’t working and I called American Home Shield. I had another issue with my refrigerator so I was trying to make two claims at once. I was hoping that I could only pay one person to come out for both things, but that’s not how it worked, so I called and made the two claims. Then, I ended up having to call back because the guy fixed the garbage disposal and it did the exact same thing again. He came back out and just replaced it.     Never ever buy home insurance from AHS. For one service request its took month and never resolved. I put in a request for heating system and they assigned a contractor, who never showed up. And after waiting for 2 weeks again I called the AHS customer service and they changed the vendor, same story repeated with the second contractor. AHS is horrible. Go with other companies.

    This is my first use of my American Home Shield warranty. It all started on July 4, 2019 when our air conditioner went out. I put in a service request with AHS via a phone call. The service request was posted immediately, but it took 4 days for the contractor assigned by AHS (Extreme Air Conditioning and Heating) to finally call me, schedule an appointment, and finally come out and diagnose repairs on the air conditioner unit. Turns out the technician determined it was the starting capacitor (a $12 item). The tech did not have the part in his truck, so he installed a previous capacitor pull out from another job just to get it running - which it did. Time to replace the part was about 12 minutes. The substitute part worked. The technician told me he had to order a replacement capacitor and that he would return when the part arrived and replace the temporary capacitor with the correct part. Technician estimated 4-5 days for a part to arrive. Technician left.

    Forward time...it's now Aug 9, 2019 more than 1 month later - the air conditioner has again failed - the make do part failed. At this point I had not heard from the Contractor nor AHS. So I called AHS to inquire. The AHS customer service person did not speak English very well and could not understand me AND hung up on me 2 times, on the 3rd phone call to AHS Customer Service, I was put on hold for more than 30 minutes. I spent the better part of 1 hour on the phone with AHS representatives explaining this situation----All AHS would do is tell me the repair ticket was OPEN and the contractor was working on the repair. AHS customer service had NO Clue.

    I then asked to talk to a supervisor and asked for an escalation of the repair. I finally convinced AHS to call the contractor directly and do a 3-way conference call - which AHS did. Turns out the contractor now reports that the part was ordered but has not arrived after 4 weeks. So it has been 4+ weeks since I first got a service ticket to repair my air conditioned, NOW I HAVE NO AIR CONDITIONING in 90 Deg weather and no clue when it will actually get repaired. I am now forced to get a local reputable contractor to fix the Air conditioner because AHS is of NO help, and the contractor AHS assigned is off the planet. I am doubtful AHS can handle anything. The contractor AHS assigned to this job has not performed. I am coming to believe the AHS warranty is not worth very much at all.

    If I could get another home warranty in my area I would. Had a warranty from another company when I live in Arizona, they were great, easy to deal with, fast friendly service. American Home Shield is the opposite. All they care about is your money, not you, not your family, and not home. They will do all they can to not cover items, and it does not matter to them if you go weeks with no AC or no refrigerator. American Home Shield are crooks, stay as far from them as you can.

    Have been with AHS for 6 years and have always received good service. Today when I have a pretty bad plumbing leak with foundation affected the plumber assigned, Rapp Plumbing, called and said their earliest available was 3 days out. When I said this is pretty bad the response was if I wasn't happy I could contact AHS. When I contacted AHS they told me none of their contractors were available on weekends but they would submit to their dispatch services and try to get someone to respond. We have turned water off to the house and contacted our insurance company. Why have I paid this much money monthly for no emergency services?

    The washing machine just quit working. My girlfriend set a claim up with American Home Shield, and somebody came the very next day. He was professional and he did a good job and he was quick. He was only there a few minutes and it was working again. I'd recommend American Home Shield. So far, I'm liking it.

    Filed a claim for a broken air conditioning. We were assigned a contractor and was told they would contact us to set up an appointment. We actually had to contact them. When they came out, they looked at the unit and left, didn't take the brain out to get the part number or anything. A part was ordered and we were told that we would be called when it came in the following day. No call or part but we had to call them to find this out. Came in and we had to call to find out it came in. Technician came, put part in, still no air. Said he was going to get someone to help with the wiring and would be back. Didn't come back, we had to call to find out the wrong part was ordered and we have to wait until Monday for it to come in.

    IF it comes in they might be able to install it and we will have air again. We will have waited 9 days for our air conditioning to be fixed. The temperature had been high 90s with heat index over 100 degrees. Called AHS but since they have reordered the part, they can't do anything we have to wait. The temperature will be in the mid 90s again this weekend. We will not renew our contract nor recommend AHS or contractor to anyone.

    We had a problem with the dishwasher and the cook top stove, and I called American Home Shield. We paid the service fee and the man come out and fixed everything. Reggie, the gentleman that runs High Tech Appliance is probably one of the highest caliber contractors that AHS could probably have. I have had him work on things before, and he is probably as thorough, as smart and as knowledgeable as you can possibly be in that line of work. Everything is working great since he was out. It was an outstanding experience with AHS.

    We were experiencing small leaks from our upstairs bathroom down to our garage. We caught it pretty early so there wasn’t a whole lot of actual damage. The small leak ended up being the actual drainer on the bathtub. It was leaking when we take a shower and a bath, so we were worried that the wall would have to be busted. But that didn’t turn out to be the problem. It was actually the gasket around the overflow.

    I set up an appointment on a Sunday with American Home Shield and the guys from the contractor called me the next day and they set up a time. They showed up a little late but that wasn’t a big deal. They had gotten involved in something else, but in time, they did show up and they knocked out the problem really quickly. They were really nice and professional. It was a very smooth experience.

    I've had bad experiences with American Home Shield in my home in Texas. I would have never used this company again. They refused to cover a pool pump because it was in standing water. I took pictures and sent it to them to show that it was on a concrete pad. There were two French drains within six feet of the pad. Harvey went through here and my house did not flood. Still, AHS would not honor that claim and kept saying that the pump was flooded. When I asked for a second opinion and a second tech came out, he said that the issue was clearly the pump. He called the claim in and still it was refused.

    More recently here in Minnesota, the thermostat on my wall quit working. I turned the air conditioning off, and then the whole display went blank. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Quality Heating and Air Conditioning Service to look into my issue. The reps whom I spoke with were very good as I had a second claim for an electrical issue. I couldn't explain that online because when I went onto AHS' site, my only selection was garbage disposal. AHS' reps sent an electrician instead. When he got here, he was very professional, courteous and friendly. He explained what he was doing and showed me how to replace the battery. When we replaced the battery, the thermostat came on and then it went off again. Then, it would not display even for the tech so it had to be replaced. In Texas, AHS does everything they can not to cover my claim. Here it's a completely different culture.

    The person who came here for the air conditioning unit did a wonderful job. But when he came, he did not know what was wrong with my air conditioner to begin with. I was hearing water gurgling but there was no water running at first. But there was and it froze up and then it was liquefied, backing up, and may ruin the filter. When he found the problem, he told me what the situation was going to be. The only issue there was I was not covered for the Freon they put in there. American Home Shield only covered $10 of the $150 claim. I also had to pay the $75 fee. When I called in my claim, they didn't say that the insurance wouldn't cover the Freon. It was very upsetting to me because I don't quite understand why isn't Freon covered if I paid $60 every month.

    The Freon is getting scarce that they're charging a great deal for it because it is supposed to be very bad for the environment. But it is ridiculous because they do have another fluid that they could put into this one too. I did research on it. But that's the only upsetting thing that has occurred with American Home Shield. Otherwise, it's been terrific. They repaired our dishwasher when it failed, and they replaced the washing machine because they couldn't fix it. Their claims reps have been very helpful, and the people who come here, represent their companies nicely. They're not foolish people. I ask them pertinent questions right away and they give sensible answers. I would recommend American Home Shield absolutely.

    All Valley Appliances, Heating and AC came out and looked at the air conditioner. They replaced some coil that was on there and that fixed the whole problem. The last item the vendor fixed was my refrigerator. The claim was about the ice maker and they took care of it as soon as they got the parts in. But it comes down to the time frame. American Home Shield's vendors give you a five-hour window for when they would be there and they expect you to be there during that time frame, and that doesn’t normally work with a lot of people. That’s the issue. But in terms of filing the claim with American Home Shield, I did the AC one online and that process was pretty easy.

    My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for my AC unit. It had stopped working and it wasn't blowing out any more cool air, and the motor had stopped working because we didn't hear it running anymore from outside. So, ATR Services came. When I called American Home Shield, they put me in touch with ATR, and then they gave me an appointment a week later. They said they had a lot of appointments. So, I got an appointment a week later. Two guys came out, they were checking the air, they got the motor back running, and said that it was fixed. One of the guys told me that it would be cooler in the house. It would take several hours before it became really cool in the house. And so, I said, "Okay." But several hours went by the next day, and it hadn't gotten cooler. That was on a Friday when they came, and so by Sunday, it hadn't gotten cooler.

    So, on Monday, I called American Home Shield again and they set up another appointment with the same people, ATR Services, and a guy came out yesterday. He asked to look at the previous invoice that they had when they came out. Then he went outside to check the AC unit. He went downstairs, checked the furnace, and he did a test on the vents upstairs, and the vent in the basement. And so, the vents in the upstairs was only blowing out at 77 degrees. The one downstairs was 60 degrees. So, he wanted to know why there was a difference. He asked if they checked the coils and when I told him that I didn't think so, he said, "Okay, well let me go in and check them." He checked them and he felt like the coils were the problem. He said that was the reason why the air wasn't going upstairs. And so, he said they had to order the part, and that once they got the part in, they will be back out here to fix the air again.

    The Freon’s leaking in my air conditioner and American Home Shield sent United Air Temp. They just took a look at it and had to take it out it of the housing then bring it to their shop and it would take them 10 business days to fix it. I never let them do that because I cannot have no AC in those days. Basically, American Home Shield was really charging too much and unfortunately, I could’ve bought a new AC. I spent a few thousand dollars to get a brand-new AC. If you take 10 business days to fix a problem, nobody's gonna be satisfied.

    The wiring at the back of the AC was so worn out that it was creating problem. I submitted a claim to AHS over the phone. I had to hold for a little while, but it was fine. The contractor who came for the first time could not detect the problem. And after two months, the same problem occurred. They came back, and on the same day, the same problem occurred. The second guy who came said the Freon is less but I don't think it was. He charged me $160. I told him, "Give me my $160." It was no use because he could not figure out the problem. But the latest visit, the guy who came found the problem. So that was good. For the time being, my AC is going good.

So, I called them and then they sent a person over. When he checked the AC, there was a faulty wire and then he also verified that the capacitors needed to be changed.     The second plumber AHS sent to me was perfect. He came in, was a nice guy and I loved him. Everything has now been working since he repaired my plumbing issue. However, they need to get the first plumber they sent me off their payroll. I buy and sell houses and I have vast knowledge on almost every aspect of a house. The time when we had a plumbing problem underneath our sink, the plumber sent by American Home Shield called me and said that he has to cut everything out. I told him that was no problem and to go ahead and do it.

    The plumber then said that it was gonna cost me an additional $250. After which, I told him that I would come over and at what he's doing. I go over and he has a part that is the wrong part to begin with. He tells me that he has to cut that out because it's all glued. I tell them that it isn't glued in and everything has pipe fittings. I told him he didn't know what he was doing and was trying to upsell me. I asked him to get his stuff and get out. I told that plumber that I wanted his contractor's number and his number 'cause I'm gonna turn him in to the contractors board because the work he was doing is not acceptable. I already paid my deductible at the time and the reason why I pay American Home Shield is 'cause I'm out of the country a lot. I don't always have a chance to do this stuff. He knew he messed up because he shagged out and wouldn't give me his name. I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

    I like American Home Shield but I wasn't too happy about this one service request. When I came back after I went away for a week, my AC wasn't working. I called American Home Shield to get a request and the rep said they would get somebody ASAP. But the company they called to come to my house gave me a week from the day I had called American Home Shield. Living in the heat without an AC for a week, at 110 degrees, wasn't cool. And I have a child. I called American Home Shield back and they said they would see what they could do for me. They called the company but they said that the company couldn't do anything for me until that day. Then the rep told me they were gonna put me on the waiting list for emergency.

    They were gonna put me on if somebody cancels and the automated system would call me or set up an appointment. I know they gotta call companies and sometimes, it works and sometimes, it doesn't. But I can't live with no AC for a week. I had to call somebody else on my own to come to my house ASAP and fix my AC. That cost me a lot of money but they did come in and fix my AC on the second day. I called American Home Shield back and told them that and they said that I didn't give them a chance. But I told them I was not gonna wait for a week when I have a sick child who lives off equipment machines there in the house and needs AC. The rep apologized for the inconvenience.

    But even after I had cancelled my service, I got an email saying they were gonna take $75 from my account the next day for the service. American Home Shield never got me any service. Why would they wanna take $75? I called them back and the rep apologized for the inconvenience and said they would take the charge off. Overall, I don't have a problem with American Home Shield. Except for this one and a couple other times before, my experience with them has always been good and I've been with them for almost 12 years.

    My AC unit went out. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and went through a pretty easy process. I checked back within five minutes, saw the company that my claim was assigned to and looked online. I got that company's number, called and set up an appointment. I gave them my service contract number. When I went back online again, AHS said that the company would be reaching out to me.

    Though I'm pulled by the horns, it all worked out because I contacted somebody. I got a hold of Adam who set up the service call and four hours later, he set me up for the next morning. Cherry, the dispatcher from the same company said that the techs would be at my place between 11:00 and 1:00. The tech arrived at 12:30 and from then, he went out and looked at my AC. He realized what the broken part was and called his guy. He asked that person to do him a favor and bring the part over so that he could get the job taken care of. By 3:30, the part was in, the air conditioner was working and by 4 o'clock, the temperature had already dropped 2 degrees. Within 24 hours, I had the problem completely solved. I could not be happier.

    I spoke with an excellent representative when I filed a claim over the phone with American Home Shield. Trying to get a reasonable amount of time for a service to be out here was difficult. But the person who came out was excellent, prompt and very pleasant. He fixed it and was gone in 15 minutes. I have another thing that was reported at the same time, and still, nobody has been to the house to fix it. It’s the exhaust fan on the microwave. Somebody came out and they said that it would have to be a microwave repairman, and they assigned it to some other company and I’ve not heard a thing from them. And it’s been about a month. I still like American Home Shield. It’s just that they need to drop this other company that they have.

    8/9/2019 I have been with AHS (American Home Shield) for some time now and every time I have to make a claim on my home warranty I dread the whole situation. I see all these reviews about how great they are and I have made about 5 claims and it has been horrible 4 out of 5 times. I called and made a claim and gave the model number of my garbage disposal and its diagnostics. I told the rep after researching it needs to be completely replaced. I had to wait two day for a technician that was based out of Riverside that supposedly had satellite companies in San Diego which is where I reside. The technician drives a vehicle that does not reference the company's name or logo when he arrives to my home. He has no badge displayed that identifies him and who works for. To spend 3 minutes in my home to tell me the same thing I told ahs when I made the claim to them in the first place.

    Granted this is Friday. I can’t run water in my sink and have to purchase take out for a family of five for two days for their arrival from Wednesday to Friday and it's the weekend so there isn’t any work orders filled on the weekend unless there is a emergency deemed by ahs. The technician should report findings on site. He saw it said it needs to be replace and drove off because ahs has to authorize him to get the part. It's funny how companies take our money and when we need the service. They make it inconvenient for you to use it. Also they give you appointments during work hours where I have to take time off and then make you have a diagnosis and repair appointment. Completely horrible customer service.

    AHS insurance company has ties with Inefficient contractors in Nashville, TN area. My A/C got repaired last year and they assigned GREENWAY Home Services to work on my appliance and they don't have proper experience to identify the problem. Greenway filled the Ref-regent which costed me around ($300) which diagnosing the exact problem and I complained back about my A/C not working and they took 3-4 days to comeback. And they want to replace the Condenser which took a week to replace without any success of repairing my A/C and they complained about Coil problem, and they replaced the Coil which took another week. They took 4 visits to fix the issue and took 15-20 days to fix the A/C in mid summer.

    My A/C got repair again and this time they assigned Max Air & Heat to fix my A/C and they are doing the same thing. They charged for Ref-regent again and said that my a/c will cool my home in 3 hrs. I tried to call Max Air & Heat after 4-5 hrs, but they denied to talk to me and they asked to contact AHS to rework on my A/C and AHS failed to get the appointment immediately as a rework order and I waited for 1 more day for the technician to come and he said that he need to replace the Compressor. Today is Friday and I think that I need to wait for 3 more days at-least to get some status update. I am in customer service call last 1 hour (got disconnected by one of the technician when I asked to connect to her manager to escalate the problem) to escalate the problem and I am not sure how it goes. AHS agents can't escalate the problem, so I need to wait till Monday to get any update. STAY AWAY from AHS.... They won't help you when you need service....

    Don't waste your money! They have pitiful service, sometimes none at all and they won't reimburse any out of pocket expenses, when they don't deliver. Their call center is in the Philippines and is a PITA to deal with, if you can even understand what they are saying - and forget getting a hold of a supervisor.

    After purchasing a 20+ year old home and a ShieldPlus contract, several working parts have failed. For example, AHS will not give their replacement value for a [water leaking out of the bottom] garbage disposal. Before spending $75 for the assessment, it would make more sense to have a new garbage disposal unit here when the plumber arrives, negating the need for another visit. Wouldn't that save everyone [especially us] both time and money??? How about a leaking toilet, how many visits will that take and what is the trip fee and hourly charge after the $75 assessment fee is paid for subsequent visits? Surely you know the average reimbursement values of these items as per your company policy. Uninformed and inflexible phone representatives--one having trouble speaking the English language--make it very questionable that service and replacement will be honored according to this policy.

Repairman said part could be overnight the part but would take 7-10 days including approval from AHS, lots of inconvenience and spoiled food for something that could have been fixed in 2 days.

    So far my experience with AHS has been terrible. I just bought a home and the air conditioner stopped working. I submitted the work order, the contractor came and looked at it and determined what repairs needed to be done. Still waiting for a response over twenty four hours later. I’ve called customer service twice and they are apparently not even in America. Can barely understand the service rep because of very broken English. Oh and by the way, I live in Mesa, Arizona, where it’s consistently above 100 degrees. So I’m not quite sure what I’m paying for with this so called warranty. I’m extremely unsatisfied with this service.

    Please note...all of the issues we experienced are while I’m in a household with 4 small children - 2 of which have extreme cases of asthma. 8/3/2019 - My air conditioner started making a really loud noise (see video 1). I immediately went online and filed a service request on AHS website. 8/4/2019 - I received a call to confirm an appointment with AirMax Heating and Cooling to come to my home to repair services on 8/5/2019. The representative instructed me to leave the unit running, but if it stopped cooling, turn the unit off until the technician arrived.

    8/5/2019 - Early Monday morning, my A/C unit stopped cooling. I turned the A/C off instructed. At 1:56 PM, the technician from AirMax Heating and Cooling came out to my home. He initially indicated that the fan motor was out and needed to be replaced. I turned the A/C unit on as instructed (by the technician). It began to run properly. He said that the A/C was dirty and he sprayed it with the water hose and the fan motor DID NOT need to be replaced. After spraying it with the hose, he did some additional tests and review of the unit and told me that the capacitor that was on the unit was the wrong size (we just purchased this home in May of 2018). He replaced the capacitor and said I should be good to go. The technician left my home at 2:45 PM.

    I left my home and returned at 4:00 PM. When I pulled up I heard this loud noise coming from the side of the house (See Video 2). I immediately pulled out my phone and started recording. As I’m recording, the fan started going in reverse and then ultimately STOPPED. I immediately called the AirMax Heating and Cooling and was told they had no availability to come back out and I needed to contact American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield and they sent this to another company (Fast Response Heating and Cooling). I was told that Fast Response Heating and Cooling would be out to my home first thing the next morning (8/6/2019).

    8/6/2019 - I called Fast Response Heating and Cooling and was told that they did not have me on the schedule for today but they would have someone out within the next 24 hours. I told them that this was unacceptable as I have 2 children with asthma and this was to be escalated from AHS. They told me that it was not escalated. I called AHS and they told me that they spoke with someone named Lori from Fast Response and she confirmed that my case was to be expedited. I called Fast Response again and was told that someone from scheduling would call me at some point throughout the day to schedule an appointment. Around 11 am I received a call that a technician would be out around 1:00 PM.

    At 1:46 PM EST, a technician arrived at my house (see video 3). He instructed me to turn the A/C on (as I did). I turned it on and it began to work (as I knew it would). I told him that it will work momentarily, but shuts off and blows out hot air after 30 min of running. He went outside for about 3 min and came back in and said that he can't diagnose it because it appears to be working. I told him that it's working now, but it's going to shut off. He told me that it's making a loud noise and the compressor needs to be replaced, but because of the age of the unit, I would have to pay over $800 for coolant.

    In addition, he thought the fan blower motor was going out. I asked him if there were any other tests that he run on my unit to see what could give him a definitive answer on what exactly is going on. He then proceeds to stick a thermometer in one of the vents to see what temperature is coming out. He suggested that I not get any repairs, but have AHS give me the money and I have him (Fast Response) install a new unit for me. I told him that if I'm going to get a new unit, I would do so from another company of my choosing. I don't think he was too happy about that and he left my home at 2:11 PM (see video 4). (Please note...he did absolutely nothing to my A/C unit.)

    Around 15 min later, it begins getting hot in the house again. I shut off the A/C and called American Home Shield. I told them that my A/C is still not working and they said they are waiting on the diagnostic report from the technician. I told them that they shouldn't expect a diagnostic report because he said he couldn't diagnose the A/C because it was working while he was there. They told me that they have to wait 24 hours for his report before they are able to move forward.

    8/7/2019 - I called AHS again to find out what my options are as far as repairs and replacement. I'm told that they are still waiting for the diagnostic report. Throughout the day, I’ve called at least 10 times requesting to speak with someone in the resolution department. When I finally spoke with someone, I was told that I could receive a cash payment in lieu of repairs but they had to wait for the diagnostic report from Fast Response. I advised the representative that I didn't know how a diagnostic report could be received when he didn't diagnose it. He indicated that they received brief notes indicating that the fan blower motor needed to be repaired (but nothing regarding the compressor). I told him that I wanted a second opinion, but he indicated that they can't do anything without a response from the technician.

    Around 3:30 pm I received a call from Fast Response indicating that they placed an order for a Fan Blower Motor and it would be received in 5-6 business days, but I could expedite it to 1-3 business days if I pay $65.00. Again, no mention of the compressor or $800 coolant. I told her that what she is indicating is only half of the repairs. She then proceeds to tell me that AHS has only authorized repairs for the fan blower motor and to call AHS with any questions.

    I called AHS and was instructed that they have NOT authorized ANY repairs as they are still waiting on the diagnostic report. I was told that the technician has 24 hours from the time of service to send in the report. It has been 30 hours and still no report. I asked what happens now and was advised that they have to send an email to the contracting department to rush the response and I should receive a phone call the next day. In the interim, I could go to a hotel and AHS would reimburse me for 1-night $125 (where am I going to find a hotel last minute big enough for 6-people for $125 that's safe????), or they would reimburse me $60 for a portable A/C (which costs over $400).

    8/8/2019 - I've called AHS 4 times today requesting the escalation department and every time I’m told that they are still waiting for the diagnostic report and they're indicating they have left messages for Fast Response and have not heard back or received the report. I have demanded a second opinion so that when I cash out, I can get enough money to help offset the cost of a new unit. I’ve been requesting a second opinion/real diagnostic since 8/6 but no response from Fast Response Heating and Cooling. American Home Shield (and all the shady contractors they use) are the worst and should be shut down. A complete waste of money and I want out of my contract.

    ***I have videos showing the arrival and leave times of each technician. The Tech from Fast Response told AHS that he tested my A/C for 35 min. He was only in my home for about 25 min...of which 15 was spent talking to me, trying to convince me to buy a unit through his company. I am having my A/C unit replaced 8/9/2019, but I am going to have them leave the unit here so that AHS has a chance to have someone out and take a look at it and give a second opinion as I have been requesting. This unit needs to be replaced and I can’t have my family living in misery while AHS drags their feet.

    The washer and dryer were both having problems. One of them quit altogether and the other one was stopping and starting. I submitted a claim to American Home over the phone and it took about five days for the contractor to come out. The technician fixed the problem before I even got to meet him. I was five minutes away from the house and he was already gone. Both the washer and dryer have been performing well since then. But I had a problem with the three prior claims that I had with American Home Shield. They were all the same problem, but I got charged three separate claims. The same plumber came out all three times, and on the third time, he said that even if American Home Shield called back, they were not gonna charge me again because it was not right.

    I purchased the 3x3 Combo coverage to ensure that my A/C (geothermal) was covered when I received orders (USMC) out of Virginia to California in 2017. I never used any of the coverage until late-July/early-August 2019 when my renters called me and told me the A/C wasn't working. It was late on a Friday night, so I decided to eat the cost in order to keep the renters happy and called in Gildersleeve (great company) to fix the issue. When the cost of the repair went beyond $500, I paid GS for the work they had done and brought in American Home Shield. I spoke to 'Trisha' on July 26, 2019. I told her the whole story, established a ticket and then told her I wanted to provide the technician with the diagnostic information provided to me by GS when they came out. I was told, "we are not liable for any of that information".

    After 10 minutes of explaining I didn’t want AHS to pay for anything, I just wanted to provide them with information for their sub-contractor to verify, I got frustrated and asked to speak to a supervisor. I was on hold for a few minutes and was told one was not available, but I would be called back that night (7/26/19). I never received a call...So I called back on 7/29/19 and spoke to a very helpful 'Francis'. Told me to forward the invoice to their email address and they would review it although they could not promise reimbursement, but he would forward it to the tech if he could. Not a great answer, but I appreciated his honesty and attempt to fix the situation. Francis arranged for a technician to call me within 24 hours to set up an appointment. No one called so I called the company 3x and only received a voicemail.

    So I called AHS back and let them know the issue, and this time they did manage to get me an appointment for 8/6/19 (was canceled by the sub due to medical issue and rescheduled for 8/8/19. No fault of AHS). The technician showed up, identified my system as a geothermal unit, told my renter their company doesn't work on those and he left. I called AHS back once my renter informed me of the issue and that is where the shenanigans really started. I waited on hold for just shy of 35 minutes after providing my contract number and identification verification information to AHS only to be put back on hold for another 20 minutes when I explained the tech they sent wasn’t qualified. AHS replied that they have to wait 24 to 48hrs for the paperwork to come back from the sub-contractor with the diagnostic information.

    I explained the tech didn’t do any diagnostic work as they were not able to work on the geothermal unit identified in my contract, but AHS was adamant they have to wait the 48hrs which would be extended to 8/12/19 due to the weekend. I explained as a landlord, telling my renter that they would have to wait an additional weekend after waiting 2 weeks already was horrible business practice on my part and showed a complete disregard for me, the AHS client. At this point I asked to speak with a supervisor....and I am still waiting on hold as I write this.

    My current phone time is 1hr:29min:18sec....If you want to throw 60+ dollars down the drain every month, there are better ways to do it than to give AHS any business. Donate it to your renters, or put it in a savings account to pay for things. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. I recorded the entire phone conversation, and I will post it to YouTube or something once I edit out all of the ridiculous wait times.

    It appears that each year, American Home Shield's rates go up. Also, my most recent claim experience with them was not very good. I put in a claim on our dryer and the place that American Home Shield chose to have come out was actually closed for three days. Then they finally showed up on a Saturday, which was uncommon, but the guy looked at it.

    In the meanwhile, I had a problem with the washer so I called back to American Home Shield. When I went through the automated program, it was going to be another service company that would be coming out. But the guy had already looked at it and said that he could repair it. So, that took another two to three days for that to get fixed. American Home Shield couldn't clear it on the same service call. They had to create a new one because the repair guy had already been in our home. It just took a lot longer than what it should have. Once the guy had the parts, it was very prompt. And for both appliances, he was in and out within 15, 20 minutes.

    It was super easy to send in a claim to American Home Shield when I had an air conditioning issue. They were pretty on time in getting back to me, but the AC company was awful. They came out six times but they never went up in the attic. I discussed this with the American Home Shield rep and then they ended up getting a different company, who solved the issue within a day. They figured out the issue within five minutes because they went up into the attic. It was all resolved at the end, but it ended up being an expense for American Home Shield because the first company kept getting sent out.     We bought a really old house and that is why we got the warranty. It was part of our purchase. We have a very old AC unit that's 20 years old right now and as part of making sure it would be working throughout Oklahoma summer, we filed a claim with American Home Shield to have somebody come out and make sure that it didn't need to be repaired or replaced in the near future. We were taking advantage of that home warranty to check all the fluids and do some upkeep on the unit to make sure it's in its best state. And the experience was great. The AC is an old TRANE unit and the contractor said it could go for another 20 years. We felt a lot better about having the warranty. It's nice having that little extra reassurance on the back burner in case anything goes wrong, especially with having an old home.

    We had a problem with our clothes washer. We had a noise, it was leaking, and it was also making another noise. I called AHS and spoke to a representative. It was very good. We got a response fairly quickly, that somebody was gonna contact us, and it took a few days before somebody came out each time. It was a reasonable amount of time.

    Hornet Appliance Services came out and they fixed the leaking part. It did quite well, but the noise didn’t go away. The gentleman did not listen to my wife to understand that there were two problems. So, I called AHS again and told them the contractors didn’t do the second part. And so, they came back out again, and they worked on it hard. They had to take the problem of the washer back to their shop and worked on getting the parts off, but they were able to do that and brought it back in. It was all taken care of. So, I was very satisfied. It's been working great since then.

    A series of events happened with my fridge. Within a week, it had stopped giving out the water, which I thought then created a leak. Ice formed at the very bottom of the freezer and once it got full and couldn’t stay in there as ice anymore, it came out leaking as water. When I pulled out the drawer, I noticed that there was a big block of ice at the bottom of my freezer. Also, the eggs in my fridge got frozen. I just kind of decided the fridge was gonna stop working.

    It was pretty easy using American Home Shield's website for this claim. The only problem I had was that I submitted the claim and they saw that I had already scheduled for someone to come out during that first little initial thing. They got a date and said that it was gonna be Sears who would come out. But I didn't get anything since then after I got back from vacation, so I checked. I thought that I was scheduled already. I went into the website to confirm the time and date. Where it said “Scheduled Services,” it said to call the vendor on the American Home Shield website. I called Sears and scheduled the service. They had horrible at customer service. They told me I needed to call American Home Shield and have them call Sears. It became a big ordeal that was really frustrating.

    Appliance Connection was then assigned for the claim and when their guy got here, it was great. The technician was very quick. He was good to let me know everything that was wrong and what they are gonna do about it. Their scheduling lady was super sweet too. They always try to call me ahead of time so I had time to get back home before a technician came in. They were awesome. They had to come out twice to fix the refrigerator.

    Whenever they came out, they said that the fan in my fridge had stopped turning so the air was just staying cold which was why my eggs were freezing. They had to order a new fan for the fridge so that it would go and a compressor for the freezer so that the ice would start forming instead of just being water. The second time that they came out, it was because the water was working but not the ice. They had to clear the waterline. My fridge has been fantastic since then and I can put eggs in there again. Overall, I'm really happy. I’m glad to have my appliance fixed and I don’t worry about it anymore. I’m just really glad I have American Home Shield as my warranty and that I did not have to buy a new fridge. I’ve recommended American Home Shield.

    I didn't have hot water so I submitted a claim online to AHS. That one went pretty smooth just for the overall claim. However, it would be nice to have a department for that because when I call in to do the claims, I can only really just initiate a new claim. Or say, a current one didn't work when it's really not bad. It's like if you need a second opinion. So, for example, right now, my air conditioning is broken. It's been broken for two weeks. And they need a second opinion, and a company came out because the previous company really didn't find the issue. And then, a more reputable company found the actual leak and issue. Right now, it's been almost a week. And, they need another company to go out to verify that for replacement. So, it's just hard to see what the step process is for that.

    I really can't see what's going on. I don't know unless I'm doing the follow-up because there's nowhere that really says what's going on. There could be a better place of communication and breakdown. I basically just have to wait for a call from one of their teams to ask me about it. But overall, my experience with the contractors has been pretty good. They've all been pretty great and professional. We really had the one issue, but American Home Shield said they'd send a different company out, so they took care of that pretty well. Everything else seems good.

    My AC was not heating and I submitted a ticket at 10:30 at night. I got an email from American Home Shield saying it'd been assigned. The next morning, I called Airtronics and let them know that we could be home earlier if we needed to 'cause I wanted to get it done as soon as possible. They called me back and told me they could get me in between 9:00 and 12:00. I went home and they got it done. The guy showed up and I described what was happening. He said he knew exactly what that was and he fixed it in less than 15 minutes. I was absolutely satisfied. I didn't have to go like a whole another night. It was fantastic.

    I would recommend American Home Shield because it's good for coverage if you don't have the savings to fix a big issue. However, sometimes the coverage isn't what's needed. In the past, I've had American Home Shield and they replaced the whole AC unit. All I had to do was pay the disposal fee. But now, you only pay $10 towards Freon and it doesn't cover certain things. Sometimes, they'll like band-aid an issue. I have to pay out of pocket for what's not covered. So, it kinda has pros and cons. When there are simple issues, they're fixed super fast, and that's great. But when you have a big issue, sometimes that's an issue.

    The control panel on my oven had a problem and I called AHS about it. The reps I talked were really good and in fact, I have never had a problem with American Home Shield. We scheduled the repair and I paid my $100 deductible. Then, the young man from Sears came out. He looked at it, told me what was wrong, and said that all we needed to do was reorder the panel. And that was the second time that panel had been ordered. I got the oven fixed for about two weeks now and everything went well. The young man did a great job of analyzing the problem and he got it all taken cared of. It took less than a day to fix the problem. He had to order the part and once it came in, he was able to go ahead and put it in. Initially, he told us that it would take seven to 10 days to get the part but it came in about five days or so. Then he scheduled the repair right on time and he was very good.

    We have equipment that has a timer. One is for light and one is for filter. And I usually set then it should automatically go on and go off. So, the timer was broken. We called American Home Shield and the pool company came out. Because we wanted to do it quickly, we told them, "If you wanna switch between the light timer, put the good timer on the filter, and the bad timer you can put on light because we are not using the lights anyway." So, they did that.

    It used to be that I would have a choice of the company that would come out for service. I don't think they give me an option now. For example, if I wanted to submit a request to do my air conditioning service, there's only one company I wanna deal with. I would not want anyone else to touch my air conditioning. I wish the online would allow you to do that.

    One day, our refrigerator stopped working, and we called American Home Shield. They sent somebody who told us that it is broken beyond repair. And then we found some replacement from Best Buy, and we were supposed to wait for the unit for a week and a half. So, while we were waiting for the unit, my refrigerator and the freezer started to work again on their own. So, my freezer self-fixed itself. I never put a new refrigerator. We went and we canceled the order, which never even came yet. Our refrigerator is working fine.

    The technician who came and said that it's broken beyond repair should have his license taken out. He said the compressor and all lines are broken beyond repair, and AHS trusts it. But again, this is a very exceptional unit that we have. Our refrigerator has a mirror, and they don't make like this anymore. But we were very heartbroken. We went ahead and we ordered something from Best Buy. And it self-fixed itself after about 10 days of being broken. It self-fixed itself. It makes ice and refrigerates. But it's really not American Home Shield's fault that the technicians were idiot. But generally, I like to know who is coming to my house. I always had, for the most part, a good experience.

    The options when filing a claim online are not described very well. American Home Shield should make things detailed so people are not confused when they're using the website. For example, if you want to choose electrical, what is electrical? I had a claim wherein I called a guy about my garage door, and he said it was not part of the deal, so he had to go back. The definition is too vague in the website, so it’s better to call someone who knows better, but when I try to call American Home Shield, waiting the whole time is a pain. With my recent online claim, I needed an electrical switch in a bedroom fixed and I just took a gamble and chose electrical. Luckily, the contractor did very well and everything has been perfect since the repair.

    The dishwasher wouldn’t drain. American Home Shield sent Austin Appliance and the guy finally figured out that it was the flap after the second visit. He went ahead and replaced a round disk which connects the drain to the hose part of the dishwasher. He was very determined in figuring this out. I live by myself so I don't use it that often. But now, I am using it per his recommendations. It seems to be working and I’m very pleased. I also had someone out with my AC unit around three years ago and they were also very nice. The gentleman took care of what he had to take care of. He was concerned as well. I’m just not pleased that the price went up. Then the turnaround time for the dishwasher is 48 hours and that is not a problem. When it’s an air-conditioning or a refrigerator, I would hope that it would be a little bit shorter turnaround time. But everything was okay.

    My air conditioner broke over the weekend, and so I submitted a claim with American Home Shield early on Sunday morning. And I was almost immediately given the name of the company that they had assigned it to. I was told I would be contacted within 24 hours to set up an appointment. It was a little more than 24 hours. So, Monday afternoon, Cool & Cozy called me and set an appointment for Wednesday morning to come out and do the repair. They came out late Wednesday morning, and they were able to repair it.

    With Cool & Cozy, the initial interaction was difficult. I called them multiple times and left multiple messages. But it was the hottest weekend of the summer. We had spiked temperatures up to almost 100 degrees, and they had a lot of calls. So, when they did call me, they apologized and said that they were taking all their calls in the order that they had received them over the weekend because they were closed over the weekend. And they said that mine was addressed in the order that it was received. So, I did call American Home Shield when I was getting no response from the contractor because it was very hot, and I was wanting my air condition fixed. They called the contractor, and the contractor told them that they’re handling the calls in the order that they received them.

    The tech that came out was extremely courteous. He was very professional. He explained everything to me that he was looking at and asked a lot of questions. He was much more interactive than most AC people I’ve dealt with. And he’s very knowledgeable. It’s a small company. It was started by his father and it’s just him and his father that do the work. But they seem to have a really big service area.

    Probably my big complaint with American Home Shield is that the location of the contractor was close to an hour from my home. It didn’t turn out to be an issue. The tech that came out said his service area is pretty much my town and the surrounding towns around it and he’s up there all the time doing work. But my concern was that American Home Shield had a special offer for servicing for heating and air conditioning back in the spring. And so, I wanted to take advantage of that, but the company that they assigned it to was almost an hour away, and they were terrible. And so, I canceled that request.

    American Home Shield has been good for things that I’ve called them for in the past. I’ve been with them for 12 years in different houses. And this company, Cool & Cozy, I would recommend them to other people. I really felt that the tech that came out really took time. And he explained to me some things about my system that I didn’t know. I just bought the house last year, and it’s a big system, and he was like, “Wow, you got a really big system in the house.” And he explained to me some things about how it operates. So, even the company that I paid to come out to do the service didn’t take that time to explain to me. So, I was very happy with Cool & Cozy.

    I always recommend American Home Shield to friends. The service has gotten a lot better since the time when they used to have some problems. But I’ve never had an issue with them in terms of a service claim. The issue is that things happen at bad times, and so the service people are backed up. And so, if I’ve ever had an issue, it’s because there’s been a backlog of service requests at the service provider, not at American Home Shield. So, I think it’s a great service that they have.

    As soon as we bought the house, my husband got American Home Shield, and we've been in the house for three years. The last two years, everybody that we have dealt with contractor-wise has been good. The first year, with the contractors that came in, I didn't want them in my house. We had somebody come in and he fixed the toilet, and he was here three times. He supposedly fixed the toilet, and we ended up living with it for two years. I finally got really naggy 'cause the toilet wasn't fixed. My husband called again, and the contractor that came in had the toilet fixed in under a week and explained what was going on. Because he was already booked up and he couldn't come right back and fix it, it took him about a week to get it where it needed to be, and we haven't had any issue. The last two years though, the contractors have been really good.

    My husband goes online at American Home Shield and uses their website. He has called when we've had issues, but something was taking too long and it took 15 minutes once he got somebody. One was on a weekend, and it was the very first time that we had called. It took him a while to get to an individual to file a claim. He called for our washing machine that's three years old, and we didn't think it should be having issues. We ended up having to wait 10 days for a washing machine that was three years old for them to get in a clutch and actuator to put them in the washing machine. It's easier to file a claim online and get a representative than to physically call and talk with somebody.

    With our most recent experience with American Home Shield, we called them for the third time in under fifteen months for our AC. The people that they have had out, all three times, have been fantastic. They have already gotten our AC up and running, and they've been very honest and fair. The second time that they came out was about six to eight weeks ago, and it was the thermostat. Last time, it was the filter even though the filter had been changed within six weeks, and it wasn't allowing air to pass through 'cause it was dirty.

    I had an issue with the water heater and I wasn't sure what was wrong with it. I filed a claim with AHS and they sent out Clog Busterz. When the techs got here, they figured out what was wrong. They’re also the best company that AHS ever sent me out of all the companies I’ve dealt with over 15 years. They were on time, which was shocking. I live way out in the country and AHS doesn’t have people most of the time for me to use. The last person they sent out here was two hours away and they lied to AHS about coming here. It was bad. Initially, the plumber called me and he asked me to send him some pictures so he'd know what he'd be coming to look at. Then he charged me for a service call but he never came to the house. Still, AHS believed him. But I'm glad that AHS found someone better than them. Clog Busterz is great and I'd stick with them in this area. The ceiling in my living room had collapsed and it was just a small portion, but from what Travis (the guy that came out) had told me, they’re gonna have to cut up a bigger piece to see what’s going on, fix it and repaint the ceiling.     There was no power running through the cord to the thermostat. So, we had no AC for 10 days. The first time that the contractor came out, they said that it needed a new control board. So, that took about a week. And then, once that come in, they came out the next day. The guy was there for a couple hours. It worked for about seven hours, and then the same thing happened. I called American Home Shield again and the contractor came out the next day. They sent a different guy and he cleaned out everything. Now it seems to be working.

    We're having issues with another claim because when the contractor went up into the attic for the AC, there was a leak. With that leak coming down, the drywall sheets for the ceiling were separated and falling, and we still have yet to get anybody to call us back on that incident. My wife knew one of the people that worked for the company that was supposed to be coming out. So, she talked with them, and the lady called her back to let her know that she had called in, and said there was no manager available, and then my wife said that they needed to talk to somebody that was in charge. And she was on hold for over 20 minutes, so she hung up. But everything has been good with American Home Shield, except for this local company that we're having issues with to come out.

    We had an AC issue and so I called the American Home Shield toll free number. The rep that I talked to was very responsive. We have two AC units so we weren’t extremely concerned but she knew that we were in the Midwest and that it was extremely humid and hot.     I tried to do my claim online to American Home Shield but I waited for several weeks and nothing ever happened. I never got a call so I could call them back and for some reason, it didn’t go through. So, it should’ve been my fault. Once I talked to somebody on the phone, they got it straightened out. When Sears came out, they looked at my microwave, and determined that it was bad. It also wasn’t safe to use and it was replaced. It took about a week to get the new one. I’ve had American Home Shield for years and we’re all good.

    I had already purchased three filters before and I’ve messed up a couple trying to get the water filter in my refrigerator changed before I called American Home Shield the first time last year. The company they sent out covered the replacement filter because the little connector thing was broken off. Now I was putting the last filter I had in backwards. They sent GE out, and because it was GE, the filter wasn’t covered, and so I had to purchase the filters. A little piece of the last one I had has broken off but it wasn’t so bad that it couldn’t be used and so the GE guy was able to do it with the filter I had. He was able to update the information on the refrigerator with his computer and he was also very helpful in showing me how to put the filter in myself so I wouldn’t have problems in the future.

    I’ve had other calls that I had to make to AHS and I’m very satisfied with them that’s why I added them to my other house where my granddaughter lives and it’s been trying to get the air conditioner fixed. It’s an older unit and the provider decided to fix it instead of replacing it. The home is in the country and the provider is coming from somewhere outside the area. AHS only had one person who could work on it so it took longer to get somebody out there. Everything worked fine for a couple of days, and now, we’re trying to get somebody out there again because it stopped working.

    Our air conditioning was not working and we called in a claim to American Home Shield. The initial call and visit were fine. We had a wonderful experience with their contractor who was topnotch. That experience was way better than my service was continuing with American Home Shield. We never got communication from them. Every time I called, it was a different agent giving me a different story. I was told I would be getting a phone call back within 24 hours, and I never did. The stories that I had been told were not true and they had sat on trying to get a second opinion for two weeks before approving the claim for anybody to fix the air conditioner. So, we were sitting over here in over 90-degree heat with no air conditioning. The very last person that I talked in escalation was a manager and she was absolutely fabulous. She helped me out and really dug into the issue. Everything else in between that was horrible.

    The air conditioning unit was not satisfying itself to where it would continually run all day long. And so, Ambient Air Heating & Cooling came out a couple of times and diagnosed it as the damper motor, and came out to replace the motor at one time, and they replaced the damper motor. And they keep replacing parts until they can’t get the part anymore, and then they’ll replaced the unit. So I just replaced the damn thing because Home Shield wouldn’t replace the unit. I’m putting money into this, and my time, and I just got tired of it. So, we got a brand new unit put in yesterday by Ambient. So far, it’s okay. I submit my claims with Home Shield over the phone and their claims representatives were okay. But I don’t think I’ll be renewing my contract with Home Shield. I really am not pleased with Home Shield. My experience was frustrating.

    The AC was not cooling off. The guy from Phil's Good A/C & Heating came in, and he had to replace an expansion valve. Then, after that, the AC is now working fine. They did a good job on that one. I submitted that claim with AHS on the phone and their rep was okay. I used American Home Shield for many years. We've had them on my other property, and we had no issues. But we got another service request, and they didn't fix the issue yesterday. My account was paid in full, but they told me, "No. You're still not on as an active account because you still have to pay." So, they wouldn't let me place another second request right away. It took me about two hours for me on the phone with multiple people in order for them to understand that I paid.

I went through an automated service and it only took about three minutes. I received a call the next day, got the appointment set up, and then, the actual technician called to make sure about address. He was there within the correct timeframe, and he was awesome.     I had two claims with AHS. One was for the air conditioning and one was for the plumbing. The air conditioning contractor had to come out three different times, but they were really professional and awesome. You hear different stories about these warranties, whether they work or not, but I was surprised and very pleased with my experience. I spoke with a representative from AHS and our interaction was fine. The techs who came out were all good as well. On their first visit, the motherboard on the furnace went bad. But when the second individual came out, it looked like he might have shorted the thermostat out. So, I had to go and buy one myself. But they came and replaced everything else.

    The hot water heater blew up and died. I ended up calling for AHS to submit a claim and they sent out Mando's Plumbing that very next morning. Mando said that he was here just to take pictures and for the evaluation then he'd make a recommendation to Home Shield that I needed a new water heater because this one bit the dust. I asked if he was gonna install it and he said no. But eventually, he said that AHS had to provide the water heater and he'd install it. Roswell is a small town and we get aliens to land here, but we can't get deliveries here. So, it took two full days for a hot water heater to get delivered to Mando and for him to come install it.

    On the day he first came out, Mando sat out in my front yard for 10 minutes and sent his report online immediately. Then he said he was gonna have an answer in two hours. So I thought I was gonna be getting a water heater Monday afternoon, because he came Monday morning. But it happened on Wednesday. In the mean time, I just shut off the circuit breaker to the hot water heater, then we turned off the water just to the hot water heater. So I had cold water and I could flush the toilets, but no showers from Sunday to Wednesday. We're both working professionals, so that was really hard to go over three days. The holdup happened because after AHS gave permission for Mando to install the new heater, they had to go to a supplier in Roswell. The supplier was gonna deliver it to Mando and after we waited through Tuesday, I told him that I'd go pick up the thing. He said he'd get it instead, so he went and did that.

    But Mando's Plumbing did a good job. It's pretty much a mom-and-pop plumbing thing because their home address is their mailing address. I also had to pay an extra, almost $300, because I had to move my water softener unit to get to the hot water heater. Home Shield doesn't pay for that, so I had to pay that and I sent them a check. They're nice and good people. I was just disappointed in the timeframe. All in all, it was a great and easy experience. AHS did everything they said they would do and I was really glad I had the Home Shield protection. I know it saved me a lot of money. This was my first claim and I've had the warranty for two years.

    The house wasn’t really cooling normally as it was supposed to. We submitted a claim to AHS and they recommended Coleman Services to do the AC and look at it. Another time, we had an issue with American Home Shield when our hot water heater went out on a Saturday and we didn't get anybody to come out until Tuesday. That wasn't pleasurable as we have two kids and my mother-in-law and I just had surgery. Back then, I initially filed a claim and they had 24 hours to find a contractor. They couldn't find anyone so they allowed me to do it. AHS ended up covering everything. AHS can have better customer service on weekends. Even so, when we had our house rekeyed by their contractor, that went pretty smoothly.

    I had three claims in a row with American Home Shield. My central air went out and they sent somebody to check that out. The techs told me that they were gonna replace the central air. In the process, they had to move the old water heater, 'cause the coil wouldn't fit. In the process of doing that, it started leaking. That became the second claim. Their contractor, Showers Plumbing, came out and replaced the water heater. While they were doing that, the shut-off valve inside the house started leaking and I had to file another claim and they came back out to replace the shut-off valve in the house. That caused another problem.

    The shut-off valve, to be turned off inside, had to shut off outside. So, the city had to get involved because the shut-off valve wound up being in a tree and the tree roots grew around it. They had to come out and dig up my yard. Showers Plumbing came in and went on until they had to check-in back to do the valve. They finally came back and put the valve in once the water was shut-off. When the city was done and they turned the water back on, the water still leaked at the shut-off valve at the faucet. I had to call Showers back out and they tightened the pipe. The tech said that he must have been weak the day that he fixed the issue as it took a full half turn to tighten the pipe.

    The guys from Showers were nice but then they don't double-check their work. When the valve started leaking after they replaced the water heater, they should have come back in a couple of days to check or called me to find out if I’ve checked it. Because I didn't look over at the valve, I wasn't in a spot to look at the valve until the floor was wet and the carpet was wet down there in the basement.

    I also filed a claim with AHS for my AC. However, I got a letter from Frontdoor, which AHS is part of and they stated my contract number with AHS. The letter states that it confirms that the air conditioning code requirement is or is not covered under the home contract. It also states that on the contract, system or appliance upgrades, repairs or replacements are required to comply with any Federal state or local laws, regulations, ordinances, utility regulations, or building and zoning codes. The letter says that after reviewing my contract, I'll find that the repairs and replacement of such nature that I'm asking for are not covered. Though my AC is fine now because they replaced it, I was pissed when I got the letter. AHS' can't just do my AC repair then turn around and tell me that they're not gonna cover it.

    We had a situation with our refrigerator. The wife had noticed that it was leaking on Sunday. I thought it was just something, maybe a door left open and my ice started melting so I made sure everything was shut. We came back a couple of hours later and everything in the freezer was thawed out. The refrigerator temperature was clearly decreasing. It was still cool but warmer. So, we immediately called American Home Shield. Monday morning, we were contacted by the company that came out Tuesday to look at it.

    At that point, we’d already pulled everything out in the refrigerator and put them in our second refrigerator downstairs in the garage. We threw away probably $200 worth of frozen food. The first guy walked in, and in like 15 minutes, he said they couldn’t do anything with us. He thought all of our Freon was gone. He doesn't do that and he was gonna call American Home Shield and have them send somebody else out. He was very nice, but it was kinda weird that somebody would come out to fix your refrigerator, and they don't fix refrigerators.

    American Home Shield referred us over to another company, Frix Appliance. That guy came out on Thursday and it was amazing. He came in, had the refrigerator part in no time, got back in there, checked out a few things, and he said, “Okay, got it. I figured this out. This is easy. It’s not your Freon. It’s your compressor. It’s extremely expensive to repair on of these. Let me contact American Home Shield, see what we need to do.”

    His customer service was super. He was super-friendly and very informative. I talked to him about what are the best machines on the market and what are the ones that are least likely to break so that we don't have to call American Home Shield. He did an all around great job. After that, we were contacted by American Home Shield and informed us that they weren’t gonna fix the refrigerator. They were gonna replace it. An email was sent to us and they gave us a bunch of different options of refrigerators to have delivered straight to the house.

    My wife and I had just been out the day before looking around to see what was out there and how much they cost, kind of expecting that we would just be given an amount of money to go spend. I was very pleased to see that I didn't have to go spend it ‘cause he just picked one off the site. We found one that was a really good deal. It was a nicer model but it was marked down and on sale. It was brand-new and met all the requirements as far as warranty and stuff that American Home Shield had. We were able to go out and purchase that one and just scanned the receipt and sent that information to American Home Shield. We’re just waiting for our reimbursement.

    I’ve had several incidents over the years. Our air conditioning unit has gone down, it seems like every other year for the last four or five years, and being in the middle of July and August with the air conditioning down for a week to two weeks is not very comfortable and creates very hostile customers. There have been multiple incidents where I’ve not been real happy. But as I look back over 20 years of being a customer with American Home Shield, all the incidents I’ve ever had, they have sent people out and fixed. It took a little work to get to that point, but my son just bought a house last month and we strongly recommended American Home Shield. He is now one of their customers as well.

    My most recent claim with American Home Shield went fine. It was a rekey service because we just purchased our first home. And so, the gentleman came in and handled it without any issues. He was prompt and on time. It was super quick and easy. I did the claim online. I signed up for an account using our information that our Realtor provided, and then I made the request through this. The website was fairly straightforward. And I'm fairly tech-savvy, so it wasn't an issue at all. I don't think there was any significant hang-ups.

    I submitted my claim later in the evening on Sunday. And they said they'd get back to me in 24 hours. And so, Monday mid-day, I hadn't heard anything from anyone, so I gave the dispatch a call. And they were like, "Oh, we'll get back to you in less than 24 business hours." And so then, I eventually got a call on Tuesday about it, but they were able to schedule me in the same week. So, apparently, 24 business hours includes like the complete Monday before the Tuesday. So, that was the only thing, and that was such a minor hang-up, it doesn't even count.     The AC died and we had to endure 16 days in Texas without air conditioning. I’ve spent over $300 on fans and luckily, the two big bedrooms have window units that we just left running, we didn’t turn them off at all. We submitted a claim with AHS and I called to submit this claim like I always do. In all the years I’ve had the warranty, I’ve only made a couple of them and the reps I talked to were pretty nice.

    It took a week for the first company to be able to come out and work on our AC. But they really didn’t wanna deal with it, so they said it was hail damaged. And American Home Shield said that they’re not responsible for acts of God, so I was pretty much on my own. But I asked them if I could have a second opinion because in my contract, it says you can have a second opinion. So, they sent Adam’s Air out and the guy said that there was a little bit of hail damage on the outside, but the problem was not hail damage. The problem was it was just old. So, I got a brand new air conditioner. The guys with Adam’s Air were also amazing and very nice.

    The AC people don’t work after hours so I called back to American Home Shield and they told me find a company that will and they'd pay me back. I called C and K and they came right out and fixed it. C and K are always good guys. I’ve been with them before. I had to do an outside authorization and so I had to pay for it myself but I wish the outside authorization process was easier. I had to call like 17 different numbers and talk to three different departments. There's an outside authorization department then there is the work order authorization department then there is the contractor work order authorization department. It’s a nightmare.

    It needs to be one person with a name that I can just call back every time and they know who I am and they can just say, “Yeah. We’ll get that check in the mail tomorrow. We’ve received your stuff.” That would be nice. American Home Shield said, “Just mail in your invoice and we’ll send you back the check.” That was two, three weeks ago. My experience is terrible until I get my refund check for 600 bucks. I’m still waiting on it and it's taking a little bit longer. I haven't even got a confirmation that they got it. Nobody reached out to me and said, “Oh, we got your invoice. We’ll start the process on that.” I got no email or nothing, so I don’t know.

    My AC unit had stopped cooling. The fan was blowing, but it was blowing hot air. I called the claim in over American Home Shield's customer service number and talked to a representative. The expectation they gave was the contractor would be out within 24 to 48 hours and they kept that expectation. My neighbor filled in for me when the technician from Dana AC and Heating came. The technician explained what he did to get the system back up and running and left a receipt. The AC unit has been operating like a champ since they fixed it up. Here in Texas, the summertime is grueling. You really can’t function if you’re home during the summer and you don’t have any cool AC air blowing on you. Because of the repair, we were comfortable in our home and we didn't have to worry about going out to get a hotel because it was too hot at home.     My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for one of our AC units. It wasn’t cooling and then we turned it off for more than an entire day. And then, by the time we turned it back on, it was a little better. So, it wasn’t horrible by the time the guy got here. There was a gentleman from the same company that came three weeks before. And he let some Freon out. And because it was within the 30 days, I’m wondering if we still pay the $100. When the second guy came in, he said, “Well, there was a connector that was bad.” And I don’t think that was going on when the first guy came. Both times, they really did a great job. These people are probably the best folks that AHS has ever sent me on an issue. As a matter of fact, this last time, the guy needed to come the next day, and I had an appointment and I couldn’t. So, we moved it to the following day and they gave me a window. They were great to work with.

    I had a service call for my air conditioner that led AHS here not long ago. That took a while. The tech made it out within 2 days but then some of AHS' contractors don't have any spare parts onboard. They have to come to your house to find out exactly what the problem is. When they identified the part, it took them another three or four days. AHS' contractors should have some parts because five or six days is a long time to go without any kinda air or something in the house. When someone has one of the newer houses with good insulation, it doesn't take to long for it to get hot during this time of year.

    Another time, I had a garbage disposal that was leaking on the bottom and the claim went the same way. The guy came out to look at the issue, but the claim took him two days because his company didn’t have the part at their warehouse for my garbage disposal. More recently, the RGI right above my stove went out and knocked out about six electrical plugs in my house. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and had a good time going through their claims process. When I call, they usually try to get somebody within a day. I had a quick response with the electrical company that came to fix that. Despite the issues, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield.

    Working with AHS on this repair has been a disaster. The first contractor was not a certified Samsung repairman and had no idea what was wrong. He guessed on a part without even pulling the fridge out and looking at anything. After waiting a week for the part to come in and for him to install it, the fridge still was not fixed. AHS set up an appointment with a certified Samsung repairman. I was told they would be there the next day. They did not show up. I called AHS and was told a different story, that the appointment had been set up for the next week. I told them it needed to be earlier, that was too long to wait. They changed contractors on me again, only to be able to get an appointment one day earlier. After waiting another week, the new repairman came out and diagnosed the refrigerator as needing two parts. He told me he was going to let his office know and they would get the parts ordered.

    I didn't hear anything from them after a few days so I called. They told me they had one of the parts but the other one was discontinued and they couldn't find it. They were going to let AHS know so AHS could try and locate the part. I heard nothing for several days. I called AHS and they told me they hadn't gotten a report of the problem from the contractor. I called the contractor, and they told me that AHS was looking for the part. I was given the run around for multiple phone calls to both parties. Nobody ever called me back to let me know the status, I was always the one inquiring. I would look on the website and it said the parts were ordered. I would call AHS and they would tell me they were waiting for authorization. It seemed like no one knew what was going on, to me it seemed like a stall tactic, poor incompetent business practices, or both.

    Finally I was told the parts were located, ordered, and would arrive to the contractor Aug. 2. They did not. I waited a few days before calling both the contractor and AHS. When I called the contractor, I had to leave multiple messages and asked for them to call me back. They didn't. I called AHS again and asked for them to check on the parts, get a tracking number, look into why the contractor had not received them. The AHS person told me they could not get a tracking number and would look into what was going on. They said they would have an answer for me the next morning and would call me. They did not. I just called again, on August 8, and had to start all over with my story. I asked the person if I could have the number for the parts department. They gave it to me but told me they would call it first while they put me on hold. I was disconnected. This is the second time I was disconnected from them.

    I called the parts number she gave me and talked to someone. I was on hold for a very long time, but she was able to come back with an answer. The supplier had never received the order. Total incompetence on AHS part department. The lady I talked to told me she was going to reorder the parts, that it should take just a couple of days for them to get to the contractor. I have been without a working refrigerator since the middle of June. The handling of this whole situation has been unacceptable.

    I used to like American Home Shield, they didn't work with the best contractors, but you were able to call customer service and address any concerns. Now the phone calls are outsourced to India and the accents are so thick the people are hard to understand. They read from a script, so if you ask them anything that isn't on the script they are completely lost. I have been trying to get my elderly, recently widowed mother's AC fixed for 8 days - she lives in Florida- and I am again dealing with India. I will be looking at other warranty companies!

    Updated on 01/18/2020: We have an issue with plumbing. They took more than a month just to review the problem. When I put this online they called and apologized and said, "We will refund you the money." But we never received that payment yet. I called them several times but same thing. They keep delaying the things. I am really tired of calling and wasting my time.

    Original Review: More than 10 days kitchen sink and toilet are clogged but no one is responding properly. Every time I call them they are saying, “We are reviewing the request.” That’s all. I don’t know who is reviewing the request. One person tells diagnostics are not received. Another person say, “Diagnostics are received. We are reviewing.” I am stuck with them. I don't know what to do?

    I been customer for 12 years, with minimal calls and requests. My Central AC unit kicked and they offered to replace the coil. I decided to replace it and they told me that a "cash out" option was available. After more than 10 days in with the request, I haven't received a cash out quote and every time I call they are telling me that for the department in question it takes 3-5 business days to answer.... has been 10 days now. I strongly NOT recommend to choose AHS as your home warranty.

    On May 20th we submitted a service request. United Air Temp responded. A few days later collected deductible. A few weeks later attempted to install a compressor, requested 1,000.00 payment for coolant. Next morning we woke up to our upstairs bedroom and attic filled with a burning smell and residue of smoke. We call the Vendor immediately to ask if we should call the fire department to inspect the roof and attic. They said they would send a supervisor ASAP. John the supervisor came out the same day and identified that the technician had not completed the install and left the unit running after he noticed he did not have enough coolant on his truck but still took payment for the supplies. No unit fixed that week. Fast forward United played ghost service calls showing up as late as 10:00pm and never fixed the unit. American agreed to switch vendors and recommended Pasadena Air and heat, LLC in Maryland.

    They came out on July 1, 2019 and recommended yet another compressor because the previously incomplete installed part was completely burned out. They collected a deductible of $100.00 and promised that we would received communication about the part being ordered and the first available install after the part is received. Needless to say we haven’t been receiving any voluntary calls. When July 20th rolled around along with 100 degree temp and storms that caused us to shut windows our bedrooms at night were 84 degrees and and as high as 96 degrees on the highest days of summer humidity. I am calling American Home Shield each day to receive broken promises from Customer Service Reps that tell me "I am sorry you have to experience this but the Vendor has not answered because it's outside of their business hours.

    I heard this until August 2019 and now I call at least twice a day and still no call from the vendor but I was told the part was delivered at local distributor two weeks ago and that the vendor would be calling me. On 8/6/19 I call and was told the Pasadena sent an email to Contractor Relations and said they would be calling me on 8/7/19 to schedule the install. It the morning of 8/8/19 needless to say we never heard from American Home Shield or Pasadena. I did call them both and never got a call or email.

    I asked today if I should just prepare to have no air for 2019 and the customer service rep hung up on me in true AMerican Home Shield fashion just rude and careless. I have asked politely to have someone from the escalation team call me and I was told for two weeks now they are too busy taking other calls but someone could call me later in the day. I have been told this on 6 occasions from 7.26.19 to 8/8/19.     My air conditioner wasn't working and I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online. When the contractor got here, I told him where the air conditioner was and then, he figured out it wasn’t an air conditioner issue but an electrical one. So, he left and then I had to call AHS, who sent an electrician out. When I called, the representative I spoke with was great. When I filed the claim online, that was fine and AHS sent the HVAC guy out. I hated that I had to call in but I couldn't request the help online the second time. Because it was an electrical issue, if I did it online, I would have had to pay again. So, I had to call and be on hold. Finally, when somebody answered, all in all, it took 30 minutes. I wish it would have been online. It would have made it easier but I’m satisfied with my experience with AHS.

    American Home Shield sent out Matt's Plumbing Services for a leak problem and they were very pleasant. But their people couldn't locate the leak. They contacted American Home Shield and informed them that we needed a leak detection. American Home Shield sent out Third Generation. But this contractor did not bring a leak detection equipment and said that they didn't have an order to do a leak detection. Another company came out, Hers & His, came out this morning and they said they didn't have that order either. The guy showed the order to me and there was nothing from American Home Shield saying that they needed to do a leak detection. Hers and His does not even do that. They hire an outside company to do it. American Home Shield didn't communicate to the plumbing companies what was needed.

    We started this whole thing back on July 29th and it's been 10 days that we've been without hot water. I'm not happy. Also, I called this claim in and American Home Shield's automated system was slow. There were also too many options. You have to keep repeating yourself. The system asks you to enter your contract number and you have to repeat that to whoever picks up the phone and that really annoys me.

    American Home Shield had someone come out and repair my washer and dryer. The washer kicked on and off and the heating coil of the dryer was out. It would run, but it was not drying. The tech told us they couldn't repair the washer because they had no available parts. I had to wait a little while for the part. I had to go on American Home Shield's website and select my washer. And then, go through those, had to order it, and get the person to deliver it. So, it took a few days. But with the dryer, they had the parts in pretty quick, and it was up and running pretty quick. The washer and dryer are now working great. Every contractor we've had come out through AHS has been very professional, polite, clean, fast and helpful with explaining what the problem was. Every time I've used American Home Shield I've been very satisfied. My wife was very, very happy with it as well.

    Our toilet tank wasn’t filling, so we called American Home Shield and they got a hold of H&H and had them come out and got it fixed. I filed the claim on a Thursday or a Friday, so we knew that we probably wouldn’t hear anything over the weekend but someone called me right away on Monday and said, “Hey, I can stop over there.” And sure enough, he did and took a look at it, went and got the part, and told my husband he'd be back in an hour. It was right over lunch time too, so my husband and I ran to lunch. And my husband got back to the house, and he was already sitting there waiting for us. It was very timely. He's a really nice guy. And we got his card for other plumbing stuff that wasn’t gonna be covered over American Home Shield. The only thing is he didn't like dogs, and we got a big old dog that thinks he’s a lap dog, so the dog was in his face. But the guy was really professional.

    Our air conditioner had stopped cooling, and we noticed that the house got hotter, so we put in a claim with American Home Shield.     I’m totally satisfied with American Home Shield and I would definitely recommend them. I have two homes with them and the great thing about them is that if you have more than one issue in a service call, it’s considered one service fee. I love that. Recently, my disposal was acting up. I’d hit the switch and it wouldn’t do anything so I stopped using that side of my sink. When I called American Home Shield to get that checked, I remembered about how slow the tub was upstairs so I was able to get them both done on the same day, and it’s been fabulous.

    The contractor, Colorado Plumbing & Heating, was very efficient. American Home Shield told me not to expect anything from them until it had been 24 to 48 hours, but Colorado Plumbing & Heating called me very quickly and was actually able to come that same day if I was available. Unfortunately, I wasn’t, so I had to push it out a day. They were here actually early, not even just on time, and the job was done. It was communicated with them what the issues were. When I filed the request, the representative at American Home Shield asked me to go and look to see what type of disposal I have, what was the brand and all of that. The technician also asked me what the problems were, what was he coming to do and what my service call was for.

    American Home Shield sent Chasteen Plumbing out, and they kinda didn’t do anything. They came out and looked and because it was wet outside, they said that my leach field was flooded. So, that was why I was having issues with the sink and the toilets. They wanted me to get my septic tank cleaned out and that was about it. I still have issues with my sink. If I wash dishes, I have that standing water in both sinks. It will go down, but it takes a while to go down. And in one bathroom, if I flush the toilet, you can hear it gurgling in the shower drain.     American Home Shield was very quick at filling out my claim when I submitted it online. I paid online and they were also very quick to take my money. The contractors were great. They gave me plenty of notice when they were coming, and they showed up when they said they would. They had to come about twice. Once to diagnose and once to fix. They gave me a four-hour time frame, and they came, at both times, in the front end of that window, which was nice. They diagnosed what was wrong, and they said I needed a new compressor for my HVAC. They told me that it usually takes a week, and once they get the authorization from American Home Shield, they have to send them the part. Once American Home Shield sends the part, they will be back in about a week to fix it.

    Eight days later, I hadn't heard anything. So, I called American Home Shield and got some guy that sounds like he was over in India. I get why they do that because it’s cheaper, but it makes the call take twice as long, because I can’t understand them and they can’t understand me. Once I’ve finally got through to him what the problem was, and that I had not received any word, he said he would call the repair place and find out what was going on. So, he put me on hold for about 21 minutes, came back on the phone and said that he had talked to them, and that they had forgotten to send them the authorization. So he did it right there. He said it all would be taken care of, and I should hear back within a day about when the repair guys were gonna come back out.

    Three days later, I hadn't heard anything, so I called back. Got the same runaround, so I said I needed them to move me up the chain, to somebody who could understand what I was saying and could actually get something done. So, I finally got to a manager who realized that they had the authorization all along, and that American Home Shield just never sent the part out, and that he’d get on it right away.

    When the person that did the repair called me, I asked him why he didn't call me after the guy from India called him last Friday. He said no one called them last Friday and that they were closed that day. There was no one in the office. So there was no way in the world the rep could’ve talked to anybody. So the rep kept me on hold for 20 minutes and told me a lie just to get me off the phone. So, I’m overwhelmed with the competence of the person who did the work. I am underwhelmed with the service and the response that I got from American Home Shield. It was pathetic. Also, their voice prompt thing leaves a lot to be desired, because you’re on the phone for about six minutes before you can talk to a human being. And when you already know what you need, you don’t need to hear all the options.

    American Home Shield is good at drafting my money every month. They took my $125 deductible with lightning speed. They made sure to inform me that in addition to the $125 deductible, I’d have to pay extra for some Freon, which I did pay and it was almost $300. So when it was all about me doing something for them, they were very quick. But when it was all about them doing something for me, they didn’t give a **. But I’m not cancelling. I’m not a jerk. I know people have bad seasons, and bad reps. I’m gonna keep paying it. I got hardware put in on my HVAC versus what I paid for it, and I’m about breaking even. So, it hasn’t cost me any more than it would have if I had to pay for it myself, but I don’t feel that I’ve gotten a big bargain.

    A pipe broke and there was flooding in our basement. I called American Home Shield and the company that I had to use took two weeks to come out and fix it. We noticed the flood on Friday, and the contractor had someone come to our house on Monday, but the guy said he couldn't diagnose it himself. He was gonna have to talk to his boss, and his boss will get back to me in 24 hours, which didn't happen for another week. I kept calling and they just said that it haven't happened yet.

    We were expecting the call by Tuesday, but there were no calls. By Thursday, I finally got someone to talk to me, and they said they would try to have someone on Friday. I took a whole day off of work, and stayed home all day waiting for it. But he didn't show up. So, by 5:00 on Friday, I started calling other people, and had someone out here on Sunday to fix it. So, we paid out of pocket to get it done on the outside. But we also had to pay the $75 to American Home Shield. We had other claims that went a little bit better than this.

    I called and submitted a request to have a washing machine repaired. I spoke with a someone from American Home Shield who was very friendly and prompt. That person took the necessary action. I was told Antech Appliances was going to be my contractor and that they would contact me. Within the day, the contractor called and set up an appointment. But I was a little disappointed at how long it took to get that appointment. It was a week until they had an opening and that was a little excessive. But a technician showed up in the block of time they said he would show up. All in all, it took eight days from the time I initiated contact with AHS until the repair person showed up and fixed it.

    The technician was professional. He was courteous and very matter-of-fact. He brought me over, showed me exactly what was going on and what he needed to do. The problem was resolved. I had a satisfactory experience. AHS did everything right in a very timely manner and the contractor was competent. It just took a little too long for the service to be provided.

    Our upstairs air conditioner unit was failing intermittently. So, sometimes it works, sometimes it wouldn’t. I went to the website and submitted a claim through the online portal. American Home Shield made it pretty easy to submit the claim and to get what we needed.     The AC was not working and when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, I went online. It was fairly easy and it was a Friday night, so I managed to do it quickly. It took a couple of days for the contractor, Westshore, to come since it was the weekend. They got a hold of me on Monday and then, I had to wait until Tuesday for them to come out. Dave, the technician, was incredibly helpful, very friendly and had great customer service. However, he only corrected the symptom and not the cause. My AC stopped working again and I ended up having to make a return call the following night that he was here. Westshore was able to revisit the following day and just tag it on to the initial claim.     The fan on the AC unit was not circulating, so there was an issue with cold air not coming through. I gave AHS a call to request a service and their process was very efficient. But I wasn’t pleased with the fact that they couldn’t obtain servicing until Monday when my problem arose Friday morning. So, I was struggling with a 140-degree heat here in Tucson without air conditioning. But I understood because I have an existing service arrangement with the contractor that they assigned to me, Vail Heating and Cooling. They had to come out on Wednesday to add some refrigerant for the AC unit and AHS felt that my recent claim was somehow connected to that. That was the reason they couldn’t contract with a different technician and they felt I needed to stick with Vail. But it was a different issue completely. Other than that, Vail did a terrific job.

    I also had other experiences with AHS a couple of years ago and my biggest concern was dealing with a representative who had a difficult time speaking English. I had to be put on hold several times because they couldn’t really deal with my concerns directly. So, after going back and forth several times, they finally offered to accommodate me with a hotel night stay for a certain dollar amount.

    The air conditioning unit on the outside was starting to make a really bad squealing noise, and the fan wouldn't turn. So, I called Home Shield. I'll show you, so you know what's going on." And I appreciated that.

    He showed me what was wrong. He changed it out. He also told me that I should do some maintenance on it, like take a hose and clean it out and what do to keep it in good running condition. And I thought that was just awesome that he would offer that. I like that company. So, next time I have any problems, I'm gonna request they come back out because the company that I had before was a nightmare.

    All of my claims have been online through American Home Shield. It's pretty easy to do. You click what your general issue is. There’s a drop box for putting in what you think the problem might be. And then they assign the provider. When I had an user error on my refrigerator and I managed to freeze the waterline solid, the contractor had to come out twice and they were incredibly professional. So when I was having a lot of water under my sink, I told American Home Shield to use the same contractor. They came and replaced three pieces under my sink. Apparently when I moved in, the compactor thing in the sink wasn’t put in the right place so they fixed that and replaced things. They were quick, professional, and I’ve been very happy with both sets serviced and American Home Shield.

    We’ve had American Home Shield for claims twice and I’ve had good responses both times. Most recently, My Georgia Plumber came out. I just called American Home Shield and told them what I needed, and the claims representative was very polite. They took the information and I was told that within the week, the plumber should call and come, and he did. My shower has jets on the side and it had a faucet in the middle, which was like a controller for the hot and the cold water. But the faucet is old and the water was ice cold. The plumber repaired something and that helped. He was able to at least get hot water over there. He was very nice too. I was very satisfied with the experience.

    My mini-split air conditioner wasn't working and I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield. The rep whom I spoke to on the phone got a little confused about what I was asking about because it came through as a regular air conditioner. I told him it was not as it hangs on my wall and the motor is outside. I had another company come and they told me it was dead on arrival and I needed to replace it.

    AHS's contractor, Air Patrol kept in touch with me and let me know when they could come. When the tech from Air Patrol arrived, he knew what it was and he explained the whole thing to me. That time, the filters were a little clogged up. He was able to reset it and get it working. After that, it was working fine. Though after that, the unit was working fine, it just stopped again. Still, I was very pleased with my experience. The tech from Air Patrol was very nice and knowledgeable.

    I put in a claim a couple of days ago with AHS and the techs came out to check on my washer. They fixed it yesterday, it took them 30 minutes to do that, and the washer has been performing well since then. I usually submit my claims with them over the phone and it takes so long to get a representative. But so far, the contractors that they sent out were really good.

    Also, as far as American Home Shield goes, it's a great company and they do things that I like. I’d recommend them to anyone. But I’ve been in this house for 20 something years plus and I’ve been trying to get American Home Shield to replace my air conditioner. They keep telling me that the only thing that they’re gonna do is they’re gonna keep patching it up and I don't know what they're waiting on. During the summer months, every time that they come out, they patch it up then it runs for a few months. And then it goes out again and I have to call American Home Shield up again.

    They just keep putting parts in it and they told me that if the contractor tells them that the air conditioner needs to be replaced, they will replace it. So, if the contractor says that it’s working and they can repair it, that's what they will do. Once it gets to the point where they can’t repair the air conditioner, then they will let American Home Shield know. When that happens, I’m hoping that it doesn’t take American Home Shield long to replace the air conditioner because it’s goes out in the summer months or in the winter months. In fact, I just got that done this month. It went out about two weeks ago and they sent someone out within two to three days. And everything is working fine right now. So, I’m okay with that.

    The microwave wasn't heating. It would come on abut it wouldn't heat any food. I talked to somebody at AHS and he told me that they were sending out somebody from a place called Nice Guy Appliance. I loved the tech who came out. He was a wonderful young man and he tried his hardest to fix it. But he went and got a different part, tried to put that in, and that didn't help it. He put in another part, then ordered another part, but none of them would work. But he was very polite and very courteous. They ended up putting in a new microwave yesterday and the people from A-1 Delivery that put in the microwave were wonderful, too. They were in and out of here in 15 minutes and they were very polite and very nice men. Our new microwave is also perfect and I'm so excited. You don't realize how much you use a microwave but we're retired, so we use it more than the average people.

    The AC was fairly old. The contractor had tried to work on it and they did that sincerely. It finally just completely quit. They wanted to keep at that, but it was not going to fix the problem so I kept talking to them. I took several conversations, and the only complaint I have is they kept referring me to people in the Philippines. There was a language barrier and a cultural barrier where they didn’t quite understand. It’s just hard. We have little things we say and they go, “I don’t understand that.” And I didn’t understand them either. I could tell that they had been programmed to shut me down. They'd go “Well, we’ve already worked on it one time and that’s all you get,” and “Well, my computer won’t take your claim so you’re not covered.”

    I don’t know how many times I was on the phone, but it seems like a lot talking to the Philippines. My daughter is a lawyer and she kinda helped me. I said, “I wanna talk to your supervisor.” When I would do that, then they were more cooperative and they finally got me to someone in the United States. From there, things began to get taken care of, but not until I got out of the Philippines. It took a long time, but I was a little stubborn about it. I wanted them to do what they were supposed to do. And evidently, they were supposed to do it because they did it.

    The contractor was fantastic. They were professional, knowledgeable, and competent. The woman that answers their phone and takes the order was so nice and always made me feel like it was important to them. They did the best they could on timing. They had to wait on the insurance also but none of that was their fault. We’re in great shape now and it was good. I told them in the Philippines, “We have somebody in the house who’s sick and we’re having a heatwave,” and right after the air conditioning started working, my husband almost died with a heart problem. So, that was fortuitous that we got that fixed. We were finally satisfied. And the local people here did great and did what they were supposed to do. If anyone has a problem, they have to not stop at the Philippines. They have to keep trying to get somebody in the United States.

    Sears came out and changed the compressor out on my refrigerator. It was a long process. In fact, I lost a lot of food in the refrigerator because initially, the people who came out weren’t LG certified. They came out and checked the icemaker. It wouldn’t work. The guy kinda played with it and said, “Okay, call me tomorrow. If it’s not working, then I’ll need to order a part.” So, the next day, I called them. It wasn’t working, and in the meantime, he came out and put that part in. By that time, the whole refrigerator wasn’t cooling. He came out and said he was gonna order a motherboard to replace it ‘cause he thought the motherboard was out. He ordered a motherboard and it took a couple weeks. He came out and replaced the motherboard, but it still wasn’t working. For a while, I didn't hear from anybody so I called again. They said they were gonna have to find a certified LG person to come out and fix it.

    Another week or so goes by. They got an LG person to come out, and the LG person was the Sears guy. He came, looked at it and said the compressor was bad so he needed to change it out. He said he gotta order and he was gonna send the parts to me. That took another week or two. Once that finally happened, he came by and fixed it, and it’s working now. He was professional and courteous. He got right to the point. He diagnosed it pretty quickly, said what the problem was and told me what he needed to do. It took about two months to get everything fixed, but the Sears repair person fixed it after the other people came by and replaced almost every electronic part that’s already in there. So, I assume my refrigerator’s brand-new now that every part in it’s been changed out. I suspected they came out and changed it out to make it new.

    I’ve used American Home Shield on other claims, my pool pump for example. It seems like the contractor would come out, they’d look at it, and say, “Okay, yeah, it’s what you said it is.” Then, they gotta go back to American Home Shield and say, “Yeah, it’s what he said it is.” Then, they come back out and fix it. I don't understand why they can’t come out, diagnose it right there and fix it right there. So, I call it in and say, "This is the pool pump number. It’s leaking so that means it’s broken. Someone has to change the whole pool pump out, and this is the model I have right here.” I would’ve thought they’d come out with that model of pool pump or a better one, and replace it. He came out and said, “Yeah, it’s leaking. I’ll be back in about a week or so to fix it.” American Home Shield takes care of the problem but it’s just the process of getting out and evaluating. It doesn't make sense.

    I was having trouble with keeping the house cool. It was 86 outside and it was 84 in my house. It was not cooling. I called and talked to American Home Shield, and submitted my claim that way. There was a company that came out twice, and Bill’s Heating & Cooling was the one that fixed it. After the first company left, it still didn’t work. They came back out, did something else, and still, it didn’t work. The first company put in Freon, which I did not need. And I wasn’t happy with AHS only paying $10 of it, but I understand that’s the way it is. Also, I was not happy that I would have to speak with a foreign person that I could not understand and he could not understand me half of the time.     American Home Shield was the top one recommended provider and I have been with them for over two months. Originally, there was a cooling-off period of more than a month. The actual contract came into place at the beginning of June. When my tenant had a toilet leak, we submitted a claim to them online. At the time of booking on their website, they didn’t give any indication as to when the contractor would arrive to fix the problem.

    I told my tenant that the repair appointment was fixed and A&S Mechanical was the company that would come and attend to the issue. They would probably be out the next day.     Something keeps happening to my refrigerator. I had called American Home Shield and made the complaint, and it was awesome. I liked these guys. The rep listened, helped and made a call for the next day for a technician to come in and fix it. The contractor came and actually took the motor out of my freezer. It was broken and he had to replace it with a completely new one. He actually had it with him too. That was purely coincidence. Hopefully, the refrigerator stays good because I have had trouble with it on and off before. When it was broken, everything was melted in the freezer and food was going bad.     I had an issue with the thermostat and I called American Home Shield. The contractor came out three times and they were here fairly quickly. He said it was the wiring and he fixed it and left. Then, it worked for two days. Another guy came out and it was the same thing. The third guy came out and he installed a new motherboard upstairs. He said the wire was shorting out. That was this past Saturday and the system seems to be working right. Hopefully, it has been resolved. It has not given me any problems since then and I appreciate the system working because it’s very hot here.     In the past, the contractors that American Home Shield sent out were not so good. But the contractor that they assigned for my air conditioner claim was good. They fixed it right away, so we’re up and running again right when they left. And it wasn’t expensive.

    The reps at American Home Shield are always very courteous and helpful. The technicians that they sent were capable, but I thought that they would be local technicians. Usually, they’re from a distance. So, I was surprised with that. On my most recent claim, I'm waiting for the $3,000 reimbursement for a built-in refrigerator that exceeded the terms of my contract. The technician that came to fix it and subsequently determine that the parts were not available, and they would not be able to fix it. And so, I accepted the reimbursement. I submitted the documents as email with attachments, and I received the terms that they offered for resolving the issue. I received that by email, and there were intermittent calls in between to discuss how it was going to happen and what was going to happen. Hopefully, I’ll get my reimbursement check as promised. It’s still within the time framework that they asked me to allow. So, I’m waiting.

    They find the cheapest contractors that do bad work and are unhelpful in general. They also don't help much at all when it comes to covering actual home repairs. In total I've been with them for 4 yrs, had 3 claims, only 1 of which was covered at no expense to me. The rest I was charged for the service call and responsible for most of the repair cost. On a particular occasion my AC was running hot and they told me it would be 4 days before someone would be out. They don't care at all and you're better off saving your monthly payments up and covering your own **. At $60 a month for 4 years I'd have a pretty good safety net by now (about $3000). So considering I pay them monthly, then pay them when I actually need to use them, then pay them again if something is actually wrong it seems that they are only there to profit off of your hard times.
