    We couldn't use the garbage disposal since it developed a leak and the contractor couldn't fix it so he replaced it. The repair that he did is working fine but we didn't know till yesterday that it leaked down through the basement tiles. So, we got some damage in the basement and I’m going to call AHS to see how to handle that. Nevertheless, the technician was very much courteous and a professional. He was great and I’m really pleased with American Home Shield right now.

    I called in my claim to American Home Shield and while I was writing down the contractor’s phone number and having it repeated, he called me. He did that immediately once he got the request and we were able to set it up right away. He was great, professional and personable. I found a pool of water underneath our refrigerator. One of the lines was loose and then, that same line towards the top was really old and brittle. So, the contractor had to come back a second time to replace that. On both times, his communication was really good. He was awesome and the time frame was great.

    Two of our baths were stopped up and two of the toilets kept running, so American Home Shield had someone come in and fix those. He was great. Also, the door on my dishwasher wouldn't close and when guy came to look at it, there was some lock or some water valve that was messed up. He was very helpful and he fixed it.

    Recently my air conditioner wasn’t working as it was freezing up and it was really hot. I made an online claim which was easy, and American Home Shield said they would call me within two days.     The contractor from Sears was fabulous. He was there on time and kept me informed. He was able to diagnose it pretty quickly based on what I saw. He troubleshot a couple of different things, which was nice. He even sat around to make sure the dishwasher started the cycle, which I appreciated 'cause my fear is that he was gonna do one thing to make it work and then bounce out and then it turned out to be another thing. So, it worked out great.

    Submitting that claim online to AHS was easy, but the system kept timing out when I would submit it. I submitted it five different times. And it was frustrating because I was also getting the refrigerator looked at and since that required the same tech, it was only one deductible. And then, when it finally went through, the fridge that had to get looked at, had fallen off. Then, I had to call in and get them to send another tech. Thankfully, it's under the same deductible, but it was just an inconvenient process. 'Cause one of the perks of their warranty is that if it's the same kind of tech, then everything is good. So, then when the fridge fell off, that was kinda frustrating.

    My claim with American Home Shield went well. Once DDM Heat & Air got here the holiday weekend, they fixed the problem really quickly, and they got out here really quickly. My AC had completely shut down and they replaced the capacitor. They were very professional, and quick, and explained everything. They are local in the area, and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. As for American Home Shield, I had to keep calling back. Everyone was friendly, but I felt like I had to put more energy.

    I’ve been an American Home Shield customer for over 30 years and I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. And I was also satisfied with A-US Air, the technician that came out and assessed that particular air conditioning problem. The guy was very professional. He identified the job and fixed it right away. My last job was a follow-up from the previous job. And basically, he had identified the problem on the previous job and installed a new part to fix that part. But then, there was a wire that came loose, and so on the second follow-up, all he had to do was tighten or replace the wire. So, I was very pleased with that particular individual. His name is Javier. He was very courteous and had a lot of confidence in his ability to do air conditioning work.

    With that claim, I requested service online, and I got feedback immediately online. And I got feedback on my cellphone via text. They contacted me within 24 hours as stated in the text to arrange for an appointment. And that took some time because it was on the weekend and on a holiday. But the interactions with the rep of AHS was what I expected and it was okay. It was excellent.

    The website of AHS was user-friendly and really easy to use. The contractor that came out for our AC claim did a great job. I submitted one afternoon and they were there the next morning. Their service was great all-around. I went down in the basement with them and looked at what they were doing. He explained it to me, talked to me about the home warranty and how it is working with that and with the repair or replacement of different components. And so, I definitely highly recommend them. It was a great experience. They were able to repair it and so far, it’s been working great.

    Everything’s been fine so far with American Home Shield. We'd recommend them. We’ve had a couple of claims with them lately and we haven’t had any issues. We had one with our AC unit a couple of months ago. We had one with our stove top and some plumbing issues, and we're still waiting for the stove top to be fixed. It’s a gas cooktop and there are only a couple of the burners that I could use. The others wouldn’t light. They take a long time to light then they just kinda blow up if they would light which is real dangerous with gas. There was another part or something they needed and they’re supposed to be out tomorrow to finish that up. I really enjoyed the service guy that American Home Shield sent out. He’s been out twice. He’s very thorough and explains everything very well.

    I submitted a claim to AHS online and the process went really smooth. However, when I submit multiple requests under the same category, it seems to be a struggle to be communicated to the technician. The email that I received only included one of the three that I submitted. So, when I spoke with them in person, I said, “Hey, just so you know, it was actually three things, but the email only said one.” The tech was like, “No problem. That’s just fine.”

    I had the Doyle's Appliance Services a year or so ago on something else, and they sent out a different technician. I told them I didn't want that technician to come out to my house so thumbs up to whoever came this time. He was awesome, great communication. My interactions with the contractor went very well and I'd absolutely use them again. They were able to resolve the issue. I need to follow up with them though. The tech reset the control panel of the washing machine, and it worked great for the week. And then, it’s starting to have some other issues again. We’re having some problems which I don't believe was due to what he did. I think the panel is wearing out, which needed a reset. But we closed out the service call. Nonetheless, I was very happy with them.

    1. Our microwave stopped working. 2. American Home Shield sent out someone to verify the microwave stopped working. 3. We were told to order a new microwave. 4. New microwave came. Took time off work for the install and rushed back to work. 5. When I returned home, I had time to inspect the microwave. Saw that there was a dent in the side and the door didn't shut correctly. 6. Called AHS. They sent out a GE repairman. GE repairman said, "Yes, it's dented and needs a new door AND it's also installed improperly. We can't uninstall it because it has been uninstalled so poorly."

    7. Called AHS asked to have a company come out to uninstall. No one showed up. 8. Called AHS, told them the problem, and they told me it's not their problem any more. Call GE. 9. Called GE. They told me it's not their problem. Only AHS can fix this. 10. In the mean time, after literally 3 hours on the phone with AHS and GE, a GE repair man came out and fixed the jank microwave. My husband helped GE uninstall the (new) broken microwave. 11. Microwave is repaired and is sitting on the table. GE did not install it. Horrible, horrible customer service.

    I called up AHS today with a complaint in that I had a water leak in my attic from a hose which their contractor patched up (band-aid solution) last May. The hose was not replaced the first time and the second leak in it was patched up the same way. So two leaks in three months and the contractor says that they just get paid to patch not to replace. Both leaks in the same hose caused ~$2000 water damage (mitigation & repair). If the hose had been replaced the first time, the second leak would not have happened and there wouldn't be a second set of damage repair charges.

    So when I called them up I asked to speak to a supervisor who called me back 5 hours later. He says he is following through on this with the plumbers who came out to fix the leak and says that they'll get with me by the week's end. However, the number was an Atlanta one (**) and when I called back it went to a voicemail of some who works for Allied Interstate!!!! Has anyone else had similar issues to this? Why would AHS use a bogus number?

    We are under contract and have been trying to get dishwasher repaired since last May. Technicians have been out, taken pictures submitted them to their company and explained that the hoses are dirty and not worth repairing, it’s 18, but because it is is still functioning AHS will not repair. It does not clean dishes!! I feel the company that sends the technician may get a reward from AHS for not stating that is needs to be repaired/replaced. What is the purpose of paying for this if they do not honor contract. Carol **

    The ice maker on my freezer broke the first week of June. My dryer broke a couple of weeks later. Here we are nearly to September and neither are working. The repair people have wasted my time and my money ($100 co-pay for each) and AHS won't do anything about it. I've asked for a refund on the $200, but they refused. I used Sears for years and switched to AHS thinking it would be better. Biggest mistake I've ever made. Am trying to cancel my contract with them so I can switch back to a company that actually gets things fixed.

    I requested a service to fix my washer and dryer 6 weeks ago. AHS referred me to their contractor Nana Appliance Repair. Since then I have been begging both AHS and the contractor to come and fix the washer and dryer with no response from either companies. Every time I contact them they say, "We will escalate this issue" but after all it is my washer and dryer which is not working and after 6 weeks of escalating the issue to their managers and different departments nothing happened. One thing AHS is absolutely good at is charging your credit card as soon as you contact them but when it comes to service it goes into a black hole.

    Don’t waste your money with them.

    Our A/C for our home in TN was not working so I placed a service request online. The technician came out and advised that the evap coil and condenser needed to be replaced. AHS denied the technician recommendation to replace the A/C condenser, approved the evap coil and a coolant recharge. This same technician has been out to our house many times over the past year to work on the A/C and really thought the condenser was bad - it is 24 years old. Plus we have had the system recharged several times at $600 each time because AHS only covers a little of the coolant charge.

    I called AHS on 19 Aug to ask for reconsideration because of all the problems we have had and the unit and the technician's recommendation was to replace the unit. The service rep didn't understand me and kept saying I had to pay $616 for the coolant recharge and I kept saying I was calling about the condenser. Then he hung up on me. I called back on 21 Aug and after speaking for 1 hour 8 minutes I was told the condenser replacement would be covered and to call back once I had the bill. I called back to find out where to send the bill and was told it would not be covered because I did not follow the proper procedures. Now I am out $2490 on a covered item that needed to be replaced because the customer service representatives lie to get you off the phone.

I fought for weeks to get my a/c repaired and they finally gave me outside Authorization to go get my own contractor and Approved the replacement of my HVAC system right at about the time I don’t need it. Bottom line is I will not be renewing my warranty with them when it ends.

    Some of the receptacles failed and submitting the claim for it with AHS went pretty well. I spoke to someone and made an appointment. The guy from Washington Electrician Service did a real good job. He seemed very expert. He knew exactly what to look for and how to test the receptacles to see which one failed, and he worked very efficiently. Everything seems to be working since the service. There was just one ground-fault receptacle located in my daughter's bedroom that he was unable to fix because my daughter had work and got in late that night. He couldn’t fix that because she was sleeping there. But everything else went very well.

    If I see a problem and we think we need to report to American Home Shield, it’s quicker for me just to pull out a cellphone and call in. The reps usually get an email out right away. A couple of times, I’ve had to call in and have them reach out again to the mechanic, and they were pretty quick about doing that. I appreciate that American Home Shield has some folks that seem to know what they’re doing. I’ve had a couple of them come by but whoever came out the last time seemed pretty knowledgeable. He was probably the best.

    We have three AC units in the house and he was the only one that took the time to take the cover completely off in various areas. He found a couple of pipes that had been vibrating or rubbing against each other that had not been detected before. He said over time, that will wear a small hole where all the fluid will come out. He was more curious about what the root cause of the problem was and dug in a little further and found it. It comes with experience. He mentioned seeing something like that before with this unit. If the people coming out have never worked on a particular unit before, they may not really know what they’re looking for. The guy who’d come out before that hadn’t noticed that at all. He just checked the pressure and refilled it. But we haven’t had any issues with the units that have been worked on.

    The contractor came out and looked at the washer, and everything that he did was great. His diagnosis was right on the money. The only thing that I have a question about is that on that last claim that I had, they charged me more money than I normally pay. My contract shows that the fee would be $75, and they charged me $81 and some odd cents for my service fee that day. I don’t understand that and they never have resolved it. I’ve been with American Home Shield ever since we’ve lived here which is going on six years now. I’ve always paid a $75 service fee. I would like to know why they charged more than $75 on this last service claim. Someone’s gonna have to tell me why that happened ‘cause I had no information on it at all. I talked to them when it happened ‘cause I wasn’t very happy about it. They’re supposed to be working on it so I guess I’ll hear something from them soon.

    Another thing is it’s always hard to get someone on the phone. When I call to file a claim, it takes me forever to get a customer service person. I’m not prejudiced or anything, but a lot of the employees they have working for them on the phone are very hard to understand. I know they’re from another country, but the communication is very difficult. Getting them to understand what you say is difficult and I’m sure it’s the same thing on their side, too.

    I've recommended American Home Shield to people. In my experience with them, they were good. When I had some faucets that weren’t working properly and a garbage disposal system that needed to be replaced because it wasn’t working, I called AHS and didn't have any difficulties with their process. A visit was scheduled and a tech was able to get there earlier. It was like a day. The tech did a replacement. I then had to order some parts for the faucets. He came back and fixed that. The work was fine.

    American Home Shield sent Air Design AC & Heating, and they did a good job. The house wasn’t cooling the way that we thought it should’ve been cooling. We had a thermostat on the bottom floor that we couldn't program because the up and down button was damaged and we couldn't move the thermostat at all. So, we bought a new thermostat. And they changed the thermostat, but he also went and he checked the whole unit while he was out here and told us what the problem was. And he had to put Freon in it, but he fixed it very good. We’re very satisfied with the service that they provided. We were told that the air condition unit had been serviced, and he said that it wasn’t serviced at all. So, he came out and he did a good job.

    I love the company that American Home Shield sent out to my property for my AC claim. United Air Temp came out three times for the same issue, but they tried three different things to fix it, and then the third one finally did it. The first time they came out, they told me that the switch on the air conditioning unit for the compressor would get stuck when it would trigger. And then when it would get stuck, it would continue to push cold air even though the system wasn’t on, and that probably was the issue that created the freezing of our air conditioner. So, they replaced that switch. But that didn’t fix the problem.

    The third thing that they worked on was the fan itself. So, when the fan pushes the cold air through the house, there’s a condenser, and that condenser wasn’t operating correctly. It should be at so many ohms and it was well below, which means then, when the air conditioner’s on and the it should blow the air over the coils to run it through the house, it wasn’t and then it would freeze up. They resolved the issue. I’m not upset with them since they kept to the process of elimination. So, it took three steps to get it right. But now it appears, that my unit hasn’t frozen up at this point. Now, each time they fixed it, it took a little bit longer to get to the problem. So, I was freezing up every other week, and then it went to every three weeks or two weeks, and now, I’m hoping it’s past that point and they have resolved it.

    American Home Shield has been great to work with, but United Air Temp has been phenomenal. They have done everything they said they were gonna do, and in the manner they said they would do it. So, I’m very pleased with them. United Air Temp was very thorough. They show up when they say they’re gonna show up. They resolve the issue to the best of their ability at the time. They explained what they did and why, and what for me to look for. They said, “If this doesn’t work, we’ll come back out, and then, we’ll go to this next step.” And I understand that because I would identify all three of those upfront, then just fix all three upfront. But then, they would have spent money on parts that may be wasn’t the issue. But I’ve been very happy.

    I originally called AHS for the AC and the AC man came out and told me that I had to get an electrician out and he couldn’t do anything with the AC. I had to call American Home Shield back again and an electrician came out and said that the fuse box was fried. And because it was fried, he said that I had to get a new one. American Home Shield's approval department called me and told me the parts were approved but I had to pay a fee of about 200 and some dollars. So they had to wait until I had that money because I was not prepared for that. But overall, I'm very satisfied.

    I had a washer machine belt that was making noise and a dishwasher that wasn't working. When submitting a claim to AHS, I prefer to do it online, which was really, really easy. I filed the claim on a Friday, and the contractor came out the next week. I can function without a washer and a dishwasher anyway, unlike air conditioner. The same company came out to do both the repairs. The washer was done the same day, there was actually nothing wrong with it. But they had to order parts for the dishwasher, which took about two weeks, but it was perfectly fine and acceptable. The contractor was great and they communicated great. I’m a Realtor and I tried another home warranty for my personal house and they were awful. But I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to my clients.

    My claim with the air conditioning coils was a three-part process because it ended up having to get somebody else to come out, look at it and give us a second opinion. The first guy was fine and he seemed to know what he was doing. I asked him questions about what he was working at. He changed out some of the PVC piping and it seemed to be leaking. I pointed it out to him and he took a little action right away. But he didn’t change the drip pan. He said he had to order that part. So, it was still leaking when he left.

    They called back up like a week later after I was trying to get ahold of them and they said they were trying to schedule them to come out to put the drip pan in. They also wanted to pull and clean up the coils. I called American Home Shield back because they were saying it wasn’t covered. It had to do with wear and tear or the way the guy worded it, in his opinion, was abuse of the system. The manager with the call center came on and they set up a second opinion. The guy came out and he came up with nothing spectacularly new on it, but he did not put in his report that it was abused. It ended up going back to the original people, but a different tech came out that time to put the drip pan in, clean the coils and put it back together. The last two out of three techs that came out were fine to deal with.

    Recently my icemaker wasn’t working. The guy that came knew what he was doing and he fixed the things like he should have. Though it was a really good experience, it took a really long time to get anybody on the phone. My wait times are awful, and it’s a little discouraging to have to wait through all that when you’re in need of something. We buy into AHS and expect a pretty efficient process. It’s ridiculous how much time I have to spend on the phone in a phone tree. The time before that, I had asked to change a company that was coming to do the work on my home ‘cause they had come before and they were terrible.     The air conditioning went out in my house. It ended up being an issue with the outside unit. I filed the claim online. The people I spoke with on the follow up phone call were horrible. It was just too much this last time, and I’ve been with them for a long time and I have two homes with you. The specific reason I have them on one house is because I travel. This issue happened when I was in the middle of the ocean, and I called and asked if this could be expedited because they had an elderly person in the house who couldn’t be moved, and it was 88 degrees in the home. They said that they could do that. When I didn’t hear back, it was a Sunday morning when this happened, I called back.

    It was impossible to get through to them. It took forever. I got disconnected a couple of times for no reason. When I got through to somebody, he promised me he would call back in an hour and let us know about the expediting. Because I said that, “The company is not answering the phone, so I don’t know if they can expedite it.” She said, “If they don’t call us back within an hour on their emergency line, we’ll call someone else.” She did not call me back. She did not call the tenant back. I ended up spending my holiday on the phone with them and my tenant trying to get this sorted out. And then when I finally got somebody, and she said that they couldn’t get anybody today, anybody to go out, she suggested that I call someone on my own.

    And I said, “It’s 6 o’clock there. It’s 6 o’clock PM in Nashville on a Sunday night, I’m on a ship, I can’t do this right now. They’ll just have to suffer and go tomorrow.” So, she didn’t offer to put them in a hotel. She didn’t offer to pay for any fans. On Monday, we waited for a phone call and I didn’t get one. And I was traveling, going to the airport, and having to make phone calls and help him. I had given them permission to talk to my tenant. He said when he finally got a hold of the air conditioning company, they said the order was canceled. I specifically told her not to cancel the order even though they had not returned the calls on a Sunday. So, they canceled the order, and then they called another company that said they could come out on Tuesday, the next day.

    I said that this was supposed to be expedited. They said, “Well, it is expedited. But it’s only expedited since 10 AM on Monday.” When I said I called at 10:00 AM on Sunday, they didn’t answer. She called and tried to get them to come out that Monday. It didn’t work. And she said, “There’s nothing I can do at this point other than offer hotel or fans.” And I said, “Great. I will tell them that they can go out and buy some fans.” At this point, again, I was in an airport on the other side of the world.

    So, they ended up buying fans, and I got the receipt for that, so I’m going to submit it. But this is crazy. This is the second time it has happened where, unfortunately, the heat went out one time at 5:00 PM on a Monday, and it was 22 degrees outside. And they said they couldn't do anything. I said, “Oh, come on. This is why I have a home warranty plan.” I’m always the person who lets people go in front of me in the line. If I’m not in a hurry, it’s not an emergency, go. But the reason why I pay for this is for an emergency. Getting through them is so tedious. And when I’m traveling, it becomes so expensive because I’m calling them from a satellite phone or my cellphone, and it’s really tough.

    My tenant was very sweet and patient, but even he lost his mind. Because apparently, he said, the person asked him four times to confirm that the air conditioning was not blowing cool air. Seriously? I hate to cancel it, but I’m sitting down, and looking at all of my bills right now, and trying to figure out if it’s worth it, and looking to go somewhere else unless something changes. Greenway, the company that ended up coming out several times, was great. Once they got there, they were terrific. The problem is American Home Shield. Service is great, but the timeliness is really bad. They don’t know how to have initiative and make it happen.

He connected me to the right person, and then, I chatted with that person and got the appointment set up.     We had a plumbing problem on our the toilet, and our experience with American Home Shield was fantastic. On one toilet, we went to shut the water off and the valve broke and wouldn't close. It just wouldn't shut off. And then, the other one just seemed to make this really high pitched noise when we would flush it, and I wasn't really sure what was going on. And the plumber was extremely nice and super fast. He did great work. The scheduling was super fast, too.

    I wanted to find out what was wrong with my air conditioning because my bills were higher than homes that were comparable to mine. So, I needed American Home Shield to tell me what was going on with it. I submitted a claim online and the website was great. I was told when to expect initial contact and then, the contractor determined the appointment. The interaction with the contractor was very good and they gave me a diagnosis but American Home Shield was so terrible. They didn't cover very much at all. I was told what the problem was, but I had to go elsewhere for the fix.

    Also, my dishwasher broke during Thanksgiving week. I had to wait seven days for the part because they wouldn't replace the dishwasher. AHS just replaced the part. A week later, the dishwasher and the part broke again. That was right before Christmas so, I had to wait another seven days for them to diagnose it and another seven to get the part. I was told that American Home Shield would never replace anything. All they will ever do is just keep repairing.

    On another claim, I had to have a plumber come out. The plumber snaked the drain from my home to the driveway, when the issue was really from my driveway to the main pipe. I was told they don't do that and that American Home Shield doesn't cover that part. So in addition to the $75 service call, I had to pay for another plumber to come out. Then, in this most recent one, when I paid the $75 service call, I was told I needed three pounds of Freon for my air conditioning, which is $110 a pound, and AHS a whopping $10 of that per pound. Not only did I have to pay the $75 service call but I also had to pay for another air conditioning person to come out and do what needed to be done. So, my experience with American Home Shield is not one that I would repeat.

    The water on my washing machine wouldn’t turn off and I originally put in my claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor that was assigned to me couldn’t come out. So, Defender came and they were wonderful. I understood that they were very busy but they said they would be right out as soon as possible. What they had to replace had to be ordered, but they got it right away and they even came out after 5:00 o’clock, which was fantastic. The lady that I talked to on the phone was very nice and helpful as well as the guy who came out and fixed it. I really liked AHS and I would recommend them.     I was having a problem with my garage door opener. So I called American Home Shield, and told them what my problem was. They said have someone would call me, and they should call within 24 hours. And the guy called several hours after I’ve called in. So it was very quick and he set up the appointment for a day or two past when I first reported the claim. When the person came out, the garage door opener worked but he looked around and he told me that it was probably loose wires on the sensor. The door was telling him that it was a sensor problem. So he tightened a couple of connections - one on the center and two on the unit itself. And the unit has been working fine since then.     Aaron Pools had to come out for the pool pump. They were awesome. They’re my regular pool company. There are only two accredited companies through American Home Shield and they’re one of them. Their service was very easy. The service guy came out and he had it fixed within 30 minutes. It’s been working great since then.

    I had to do the claim with American Home Shield over the phone because while they have an online capability, I can’t ever seem to get it to work, so I have to call in every single time. I go on the site and it tells me that I don’t have an account. And I have my account number. It is up to date. I do have an account. It’s paid every month electronically. But it just doesn’t seem to recognize me when I try to do it online so then I have to pull it and call in, which means I have to be on the phone forever until somebody picks up. And then it’s all good after that, but it seems so irritating. The whole time I’m on hold, I’m listening to a recording telling me that I could do this online. I was like, “No, otherwise, I would.” I don’t have claims a lot, but whenever I do, I have to call in.

    Our washing machine broke. A guy came and said that there was no way of repairing it. Therefore, AHS offered a replacement. I looked and found out that that replacement didn’t have a good longevity as far as customers' reviews, so I bought a similar unit and I have sent in the paperwork. I'm looking for the reimbursement price. With the appliance, it went as smoothly as it could. Everything was great. I’m very happy with American Home Shield.

    But I had an electrical issue and I told AHS that something was working a year ago which is not working now. It slowly changed so it wasn’t like there was an exact date when it broke. They sent an electrician and he told me that what I was saying made no sense. I took him into the other room because I have two bathrooms that are identical. I said, “This is the way it worked, and this is the way I want it to work.” He said that was impossible and wired it a different way. And when he left, one of the lights was not working at all. AHS sent another guy for a second opinion. The guy came and didn’t even bring in a screwdriver. He looked at it, listened to what I was describing, decided what the problem was, sent it in, and it was denied because that was not covered.

    The thing is, what he was saying made no sense because he said it was the exhaust fan. And through American Home Shield, a professional electrician came a while back and had fixed that particular part. Now, American Home Shield says they are not responsible for any of this. It’s an electrical issue. It’s for a bathroom exhaust fan. I don’t understand why American Home Shield is not covering it or why their electricians never even attempted to open up anything in the ceiling or see what was going up there. They just decided what the issue was. Just five minutes ago, I hired somebody outside of American Home Shield to do the work. They’re giving me a quote come Friday. I’ve had an extremely good experience with American Home Shield and at the same time, I’ve had extremely bad ones. American Home Shield needs to get more professional electricians.

    The dishwasher was leaking water and the keyboard kept blinking. I had to go through the runaround when I submitted the claim. JR was the last company that American Home Shield sent to me. Originally, they sent two different companies to me. Sears was one of them, and they said they didn’t find any kinda model number. But it was there. It was just on the top or the upper part. JR did a good job. They handled everything. They assessed why it wasn’t working, and they fixed it. But then when I turned it on and tried to run it, it was still leaking. So, they came back out, and they assessed it again, and the tech immediately got a hose, and he put it on a couple of days later. So, it was great service. They came through. They even stabilized my dishwasher to where it’s not lifting anymore off the surface.

    American Home Shield needs to have more supervisors available for when you call when there are issues because they have proper people on the phone when it’s time to make a payment, but when it’s time for service, there’s an issue. It’s like you have to constantly explain yourself. And sometimes, things are left out, and you have to call back. There's a lot of miscommunication with that end of it.

    I've used American Home Shield plenty of times and ended up renewing it 'cause I felt like I used it enough if something's wrong with the things and for that stuff, it's great. This time, my air conditioning was out. They called to get the first guy and the first guy works by himself so he's really busy. He said that he couldn't get to me until Friday. It was Monday that time and 85 degrees in my house so I said no. I called AHS back and told them that my husband's disabled and that we have to do something quicker. It was not my fault that the first guy's a one-man band so they found the other guys and they came out. They put Freon in and I asked them to check for a leak because I just filled the whole thing up at the end of last summer. And then, in a day and a half, it was 85 again.

    I called the warranty company back and they had to send the contractor out, then they're busy and it was the weekend. The contractor came back out and then they know what they did. I asked why they didn't check for a leak when they were here the other time. They were not allowed to because the warranty company says if it's less than three gallons of Freon, they don't do that. So, I paid for the Freon. Then, all of a sudden, they said that they have to turn it into the insurance company, then AHS has to approve it, then somebody has to put it. The whole thing ended up nine days and I have to move out for those days.

    The good news was they fixed it and took care of everything so I can't complain. In the end, I was happy that AHS didn't charge me. But I was out of my house for nine days. There's gotta be a system that's better in place to go, you come out, you do the assessment, you call them. The contractor and AHS have been going back and forth. I was out of the equation, and it's like, "We're waiting for them. We have to get the new part then it has to go here, then it has to go there, and then somebody has to approve it, and somebody had to put the dollar signs on it." That was a way too long process. The timeframe has to be a lot faster than this. Everything else, AHS was good. It's nice having that where I just call with stuff that they're awesome for like the icemaker or the toilet's making a noise. I also appreciate that they're trying to help small businesses like the first guy that called who's like a one-man band.

    American Home Shield has done a great job of answering all my requests for services any time I have an issue. The wait time for the contractor depends on the contractor but it's typically no more than a couple of days that we're able to get them. Sometimes, they would come out the next day and sometimes, they would come in a couple of days. It probably depends on the time of year. With the AC, sometimes, it takes a little bit longer in the summer.

    The contractors for the AC were very respectful and nice but the first set of the contractors could not figure out how to resolve the issue. I called and they came out three times and tried multiple different things. They didn’t completely troubleshoot the problem. They just would troubleshoot to a point and think that must be it rather than following through on the entire process. I called American Home Shield, spoke with them, and they got me a second opinion. An AC technician from a different company came out and resolved it in 45 minutes. And there's never been a problem since.

As far as Mr. Appliance coming out, they came out in a decent amount of time, and they called me in a decent amount of time. As far as coming and getting it fixed, it is what it is.     I was member of AHS for years till 2016-2017. Our AC broke down. Technician reported it needs to be replaced. They got the second opinion, the technician reported it needs to be replaced. For couple of weeks company did not respond, when followed up the company's supervise said, "We are not obliged to abide by technician's recommendation. It is our sole discretion to do or not do. We will not replace it. If you want take this ac out of the contract and can do so." I said "What?" I had to, l cancelled the contract.

    On the surface, it seems American Home Shield warranty covers a lot, depending on your plan tier. From my personal experience, appliances are repaired only if they're found broken. Parts are not replaced. Even if the appliance breaks down completely, I'm sure there are stipulations for when/why the warranty would repair/replace the appliance. This information isn't laid out in your contract in full. I recently submitted a request for broken ductwork repair because my contract states that issue is covered. I learned because the ductwork was broken due to any other cause outside of "normal wear and tear," the warranty does not cover that and will not pay. I paid a $75 service to have a technician come out to determine his reasoning for why the ductwork was broken. Keep in mind, there are free estimates provided directly from businesses for home service repairs.

    I believe the cost of the warranty from the real estate transaction is eventually recouped by the company after you total up all the service requests you pay for within your year. The reasoning is the important factor whether American Home Shield warranty will cover and pay the cost of replacing/repairing your appliances/equipment in home. So sure, many items are eligible for coverage under the American Home Shield, but will they actually be covered when something goes wrong with them? Hardly. It has to be from normal wear and tear, depending on the appliance. Read your contract. Contact the company with questions about when AHS will cover the cost. You will not be protected from previous damage done to the house contrary to what most of us think. In the end, it's not worth purchasing and having. Save your money to make the home repairs when the time arises.

    We have had AHS for a couple of years. The first two years they did a great job. The call center you called into was knowledgeable and helpful. I can't say that is the case any longer. Example: our fridge stopped cooling back in July I called them to get if fixed the first contractor sent out took a week to schedule an appointment and then was not able to fix it. After another call to AHS they had Sears (as apparently they are the only ones able to fix whirlpool) set up an appointment, that appointment was not until the end of July. If you are counting no fridge now for two weeks. The contractor comes out end of July has to order parts. Another two weeks goes by we are now in mid august. The contractor comes out "fixed" the fridge the next day still not cold.

    I call AHS again they tell me the contractor is ordering parts which is weird since the contractor told me it was fixed. They then transfer me to the buyout department even though it is closed. I call again and the contractor had closed out saying that it was fixed. They offer to open the ticket again. I am now at the end of August still without a fridge waiting for AHS a company I pay monthly that I have now spent a total of 12 hours on the phone with AHS and the contractor and still no date on it being fixed. The customer service team has no clue what they are doing and when you ask to speak to a supervisor you will be put on hold indefinitely. There are other home warranty companies out there maybe they care about their customer go with anybody but AHS.

    I had an issue with my stove and so I filed a claim to American Home Shield. The contractor kept calling me and I told them that I didn't have my cellphone and to leave me a message. When I tried to call them back, the phone was either busy or I had to leave message after message. Then they would never call me back. I finally got contact after about 10 or 12 tries. They came out after about three weeks and they said they didn't have the model number, which I sent them the information. They had to go back and order the part which now I have been waiting for another week.

    The contractor that I had before for my air conditioner did a great job. There's a motor that needed to be done. He had to order the part and that company did it quite well. That was in July. And then, in May, American Home Shield sent me a thing in the mail to where I could have preventive maintenance on my air conditioning system. I scheduled the $75 fee for that, and I kept waiting for the people, calling them and leaving a message. It got to the end of May and I asked when will the company come out. They said they couldn't take care of my preventive maintenance at that time because it was air conditioning time and that was more important. I said that I've had this since the 1st of May. They charged me $75, I never got the service, and I still haven't gotten my refund.

    I told the person from AHS about it and they put me on hold. I waited 15 minutes and all of a sudden I got disconnected. I figured she'd call me back 'cause she said, "What's a good number?" I kept waiting and I haven't had a chance to call them back. I would rate them on the low end of the scale, being that the quality of the people that AHS sends out, it seems like they don't have a lot of people local. I live in Florence, South Carolina and most people that come to do the service is over an hour away. I don't understand. It's not like I live in a small town. That's just a little odd.

    We had a service scheduled and the service guy from Rob’s Appliances came to fix our dishwasher that was not functioning. I submitted the claim online with American Home Shield. I had a text message that said it was within 24 hours that we would be given a call for scheduling of the service. The service guy came out and assessed the issue. He found that there was a computer issue with it, so he had to make arrangements for getting those parts. And then he scheduled another visit to fix it. It's been functioning perfectly since then. With the person who came out for service, our experience was great. He was prompt. He let us know every step of the way what was happening and he was very accommodating to our schedule as well for scheduling.

    I called American Home Shield to submit the claim and the interaction with the rep was good. The contractor looked at the AC system but what was wrong with it was not covered under the warranty. The AC works but we need new duct work and we gotta pay for that out of pocket. Still, I would recommend AHS to friends and family for the quick turnaround to have somebody out here that quick.

    I usually go online to submit a claim with AHS, when I have access with the internet, because I can't get a person on the phone when I call. However, when I go online and have more than one issue in the same area, I can't type in that I have two. So I have to put in a second one, and then pay two service call fees. But Air Pro Master and the guy that comes every time have been really great. Javier's really nice. They always come every time for my plumbing issues. And they're very reliable and efficient.     Filing a claim with American Home Shield online was simple. What is not simple though, is if there was a follow-up question. We had a furnace go out one year, and it needed a part. And then we had the air conditioner go out the next year. It was middle of winter on the furnace and it literally took almost four months. It is horrendous calling American Home Shield. You can file a claim easily but getting in touch with somebody is a nightmare. But we're pleased with what the plumbing guys did. The ejector pump was not working and we were having an overflow. Wade's Plumbing came and the tech was a nice guy. They had someone get a part, some sort of float valve, and got it running. He had a full day, but he knew from what it was, it was taking our whole house out the line because it was the waste water ejector. So, he fit us in between calls. I'm pleased with him.

    My air conditioner and condenser quit working. I called in American Home Shield's number and spoke with a representative. Everybody was nice. The first contractor was coming a day or two later. Then, I called back, and they got another company that came between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning and they were here. They told me what needed to be done and they gave me a price quote. AHS said that I could either do two things. I could go with the company that came out and looked at everything. Or, If I could find another company that could give it at a lower price, I could take a cash-out or something of what they are going to pay to replace everything and do it that way.

    When I first signed up, they said that everything would be covered. Now, the air conditioner that I have had since 2016 of Feb or March took a poop and AHS said that they were only going to pay this amount and that I have to come up with all the rest. They needed to tell me and be upfront with me because I'm on disability. And they said, "You just pay $75 and somebody comes out. Everything will be replaced," which wasn't the case when it came to my air conditioner. I then went to three other companies and I found the one with the lowest bid. It has now been installed and I have to send the bill back to AHS.

    I had some issues a few years ago that I wasn't very happy with. My AC/furnace went out and I couldn't get American Home Shield to respond. I filed a claim and nothing happened. I called them and they said, "We'll get to it." I finally ended up getting it fixed on my own 'cause it was the wintertime and it was cold. I wasn't going to renew the next year because I had such a bad experience. But somebody called me up, talked to me and apologized. They gave me a credit on the next year's fee and we worked it out.

    Recently, American Home Shield has been great. I usually make claims online and it's very easy. My water heater failed and it was leaking at the bottom. I got online and filed the claim in the evening, and the techs called me at 8 o'clock the next morning, then they were out there that afternoon. They did a great job. Very prompt and I knew exactly when they were gonna be there 'cause I don't live there and I had to come out and meet them. I paid the $75 dispatch fee, and then there were some other regulatory things that had to be done because the water heater was put in 15 years ago, and the plumbing wasn't up to code. I had to spend another $175 for the extra stuff that was required. I was advised that that kind of thing isn't covered, so they replaced the tank and they paid for the labor, but not for the extra regulatory stuff that I had to do. It's been great ever since.

    My last claim was my air conditioner unit that broke down on the hottest day of the summer. American Home Shield got back to me within the hour and the company that came out had the AC repaired the very next morning. The contractors came right out filled it right up, and I was overjoyed that it finally worked. The only thing I didn’t like was one of the coils sprung a leak, and AHS only covers so much coolant.     The air conditioner wasn’t running. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim and paid the $75 fee. Then all the rest of the parts and everything they had to do to fix it was covered.     I had a problem with my dryer, and R & R came out, replaced something and my dryer worked like it used to. I put it on casual and in the beginning, it would dry the clothes and then it didn't, so I called back within the 60 days. I learned that lesson when a fix didn't work and I didn't call back in time. Anyway, the guy came out, ordered a part, and came back. He said it’s the same one he put in before and his supervisor said he can’t put it in. I didn't understand because I was thinking he would put something different in that would work better. I've filed quite a few claims and this is the only one I’m not happy with.     Our air conditioner broke on Wednesday and we were told a technician couldn’t come out till Friday. We have been sleeping and living in 85 degree weather for two days at this point so yes I’m already a little ticked but I let it go. Well Friday comes and the technician was supposed to be here between 10-2.... He didn’t show up till 4pm. Then is here for a matter of 3 seconds and tells us it’s a bad compressor and couldn’t be fixed for another week!!!!

    So I call American Home shield and I’ve never experienced such terrible service in my life. I can barely understand what the service rep is saying, he just keeps telling me that he’s going to send an “urgent” email and that they’ll get back to him within 24-48 hrs!!!!! I then proceed to ask him if they can at least put us up in a hotel room so we’re not staying in a house with no air for a week. Basically tells me no and then I ask to speak to a supervisor. PUTS ME ON HOLD FOR 40 MINS. Then tells me that all the supervisors are busy and that he will send the email and they’ll get back to me and I said this is unacceptable and I demanded to speak to a supervisor this minute and so magically one becomes “available”.

    Well they transfer me over and then it disconnects me (they probably hung up bc they don’t want to deal with me). We now are having to pay out of pocket because they refuse to help us out and get us a new air conditioner within a timely manner. THIS IS THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. DO NOT BUY THIS HOME WARRANTY.

    We have been customers of American Home Shield for both our homes for about 4 or 5 years now. My dishwasher broke on the 1st of July and I got a mechanic to come take a look by the end of the week. He said there are parts for the 15 year old dishwasher to be ordered and he left. The mechanic's company never called me to set up an appointment for about two weeks after that. So I called back. They said they haven't gotten the parts and they will call back ...I called up the next week hoping that they got the parts...but no. So approximately by the end of July I called up AHS hoping they would give me better answers. They told me that the vendor ordered wrong parts and they would need to order a board and that board is on backorder. This story went on for another two weeks. So by this time we were in Mid August. Almost month and half.

    So when I called AHS again they told me that the mechanic ordered the wrong part and they are waiting on the part. On pressing more one of the rep's told me that AHS has to approve the part that they ordered and they are waiting on that. Every phone call of late has been no less that 45 min with them. I tried to get the supervisor after the third series of the storyline started (they ordered the wrong part one) but the supervisor would not come on the phone. Finally called them up today, again, been on the phone, hold, transferred (almost an hour) and today I was told they will send the part to the vendor by 30th of Aug. So two months.... that’s the turnaround time. Very disappointing.

    Our air conditioner went on the fritz. AC repair person said it was fine, returned home to soaring internal temps with a 90 year old inside. I did what the Home Shield site stated, restarted the breaker and the compressor’s Freon escaped into atmosphere. Had to move family to motel for a week. Now with replacement parts that are, IMO, dubious, the failure of compressor reoccurred less than 12 days later and am I supposed to just “eat” the situation? This isn’t the way to treat your customers! This is an example of poor quality control at the very best, of can be said about this.

    When things are going good, no need to contact them. Its when things are broken and need attention our expectation was simple timely and appropriate repair. Many of the contractors were not good and appeared second rate. We had to request 2nd opinion many times with different diagnosis. Then when asked for the report nothing given. They always were giving excuses on why it is not covered. I was patient as I am not good with repairs, but that last service took 6 calls, second opinions (at charge) and no proper feed back.

    Each time I call I can expect to be on hold a minimum of 30min and one time was on hold for 1hr and 40min talked with supervisor and they promised follow up in 24-4hrs - 8 days later nothing. We couldn't handle the poor service any longer. It is much cheaper to pay a contractor directly after calculating the monthly fee, then the $75 deductible each time. I think it is best to simply place the monthly $85 in a savings fund for repairs and I will easily come out ahead. FYI - for cancelling the service it took me more than hour also.

    Contractor came out fairly quickly. Scheduled an appointment for the next day and no showed. Then calls to tells us it'll be a week before he can install AC because he is waiting on parts? Makes no sense. We live between 3 major cities in the US. Between Houston San Antonio and Austin - someone has an AC that works for our home. Then called AHS for some help and no one knows where the parts are or is even showing they were ever ordered in the system. We're going on day 3 of having heat stress. It's 103 degrees with a 3 year old and 6 year old that has had open heart surgery. No one has any information to tell us about when we're getting our AC installed. Pure incompetency on all levels. I cannot believe the customer service department can't communicate with their own authorization department to let the homeowners know something.

    Kelly’s Appliance Services came out for the clothes washer that was not working. The service technician said the bearings were no longer at their best. When the service technician came out right away, that was smooth. But the delivery could have been better. They came out the first time and they went as far as having a washing machine on the ground ready to be put in my house, but they decided to just take it back when they saw that I had a different dryer. The professionalism could have been a little better just because we had to reschedule twice. And the second time, I almost felt like they were running behind and they just kinda gave me an excuse saying my washer was broken and they needed to order me a new one.     I file my claims with American Home Shield online and the online process is easy to navigate. Then, on average, a contractor comes out in one to three days depending on schedules and things of that nature. This year, I've done two claims - one was for the air conditioning and the other was for plumbing and both of them were just fine. For the HVAC situation, it was Freon and it was something that AHS doesn't cover so I had to pay the deductible fee plus $325. Overall, though, I would recommend AHS and I have.

    I went online and did a claim with American Home Shield. Our AC was turning on and it was blowing, but it wasn’t blowing cold air. The AHS website was okay. The problem was they couldn’t send anybody out for a week. We are in a really hot area so I had to call a couple of times and I talked to somebody else to see if I could get somebody sooner. I have a baby so I was really trying to get it fixed because it gets over 100 degrees up here. It was miserable. AHS ended up sending a different company out since the first company couldn’t come sooner.

    Someone from Tempest HVAC came in two days. They initially wanted me to wait the beginning to the end of the week. But I talked to my Realtor and my Realtor expedited it. She called somebody. All of a sudden, we had the AC at our door the next day. The tech was really good. He advised me of the cost before he started working. He explained everything and he said he replaced the capacitor. Everything has been working perfectly.

    The compressor went out on my AC and A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out to replace the compressor and some hose. I submitted the claim online and then they called to set up an appointment. American Home Shield's website was easy to maneuver. Since that was on a Friday, they weren’t able to come out until that Monday. But, the contractors were very nice and they explained everything they needed to do. They were courteous and friendly, and they did a good job.     I am very disappointed and displeased with American Home Shield's service. I requested Service on June 4, 2019. Someone came out on June 12, 2019 for service on the AC unit. Today is August 22, 2019 and the unit has not been repaired or replaced. I have called several times to speak with someone concerning this matter with no return phone calls. I am at a point that I am seriously thinking of cancelling my policies. An entire summer without AC!! This is not fair. If I wasn't paying my payments they would be calling me every day. I will also be doing a review on the Better Business Bureau.

    I have had AHS for years and have been very pleased with them in the past. However, that recently changed. I live in Las Vegas and our air conditioning broke. I called and made a service request. AHS sent out a contractor quickly. However, after the contractor diagnosed the problem and informed AHS of such, AHS failed to respond to the contractor to authorize a repair that is clearly covered under my contract. In the meantime, I had been calling and speaking with AHS regarding why it had been over a week and my a/c had not been fixed. AHS kept blaming the contractor. On 3 occasions I requested that a supervisor return my call. I never received a call. I still am without air and have not had resolution of my problem. This is my worst customer service experience EVER and when my contract is up, I will be looking for a new home warranty company. If I could give AHS a negative star rating I would.

    I have been an American Home Shield customer for almost 8 years. I recently moved and had to cancel the policy on my old home. However, I immediately opened a policy at my new address. I understand, there is a cancellation fee but being a loyal customer for nearly a decade should count for something. I made three attempts to talk to a supervisor about possibly waiving the fee. Each time the customer service representative was rude and told me a supervisor was not available. I was eventually told a supervisor would call me back by the end of the day.

    Almost a week has gone by and not one word from AHS. I refuse to pay the equivalent of two months premium, simply because I’ve moved. AHS has proven they do not value customer loyalty. I will not continue to spend my hard earned dollar with such a company especially when their competitors offer plans that are comparable, have a cheaper premium, and have better consumer reviews. I will be canceling my new policy today.

    I have been trying to get a claim process for over a year. Second air conditioner went out and for each one I had to wait a week to get a service person out to assess. Then they said it would take another two weeks to get parts in and come out and make the repair. Simply not acceptable in the middle of summer in Phoenix. Had to do cash in lieu of repair because there’s no way to be without an air conditioning unit for weeks at a time during the summer. They paid the first one but the second they kept saying they would send a payment and never did. Finally a year later they said they needed a receipt. They never said once they needed a receipt nor did they require a receipt for the first unit. Total scam. I will never, never buy their services again.

    This warranty company is a scam. Their customer service line is terrible and they do not solve any problems, just continue to repeat the same answer. They lied about replacing my 20+ year old AC claiming it "works" every time it had a Freon leak. $50-70 a month fee plus $75 service charge per call. Save your money.

    I'm going to be very pragmatic on my comment. My AC got broken and I called AHS. I paid the service fee of 100. Contractor came and said that I needed Freon. AHS only covered 10 dollars per pound. I had to pay 75 dollars per every pound used. Contractor put 2 pounds so I ended up paying 150, plus the service fee of 100. My AC still didn't work. Therefore, I called again AHS. They sent the same contractor who now found out that I had a leakage and that the whole fix, after deducting what AHS covered, would cost me 1800 dollars. Amount which would come out of my pocket. I was also given option 2, to replace whole unit for 6000 dollars at my expense. AHS would cover 600 or 700 of such repair.

    I decided to call another contractor, who fixed my AC FOR 200. I felt ripped off. I cancelled my service because I paid for this service supposedly when things like this happen. I never called them and I paid always on time. My major upset came a week after I cancelled, for AHS is charging me 36 dollars cancellation fee. It's not that much money, but honestly I don't think it is correct to charge me since they didn't fix my AC. Horrible experience.

    My air conditioner stopped producing cold air. And the people that American Home Shield chose to come and help me were very responsive. They came out within an hour after I filed a claim. It was really pretty good. The service guy found some bad wiring and he fixed it, and the air conditioner’s been working great ever since. The way I submit a claim with AHS depends on the level of seriousness. If it’s something that is not too urgent, I could do it online.     My air conditioner was not blowing cold air. There was a capacitor that was fried. A few days after I made a claim with American Home Shield, a contractor came out. They were good and they took care of everything on the same day. This is the third time I've used this contractor - one time through the warranty and one time independently. They are probably the best service provider I've had through American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield's service itself is fine, but it really depends on the service provider who is actually coming over. The inability to choose or see reviews is my biggest complaint about it. I've had some really bad service providers. I've had the misfortune of having to use my home warranty seven times this year because I have a new property and a lot of things have been failing on it. The HVAC contractor was really good. There was an appliance repair person from Sears who was really good too. But everyone else was kinda lousy.

    I would highly recommend American Home Shield, and I’ve had no problems with it since I’ve been in my home for a month and a half. And sadly, I’ve used them more than I needed to use them since I’ve been in the home. But they’ve been great. I’ve had two AC units installed, and some electrician work as well.     It used to be easy to file a claim with American Home Shield, but it’s hard to get in contact with them now, unless you call late at night or early in the morning. During the day, it’s 45 minutes to an hour of waiting for someone to pick up. Still, I never had a problem. They always say that the contractor will contact you within 24 hours and normally, it’s quicker than that. When the temperature with my freezer was not the same, the contractor fixed it right away. It was a fan motor, so he installed that and so far, so good.

    I've had several subcontractors for American Home Shield in the last year. Changing Winds was sent and James, who was a one-man operation, came out. And he replaced our condensation pump after it stopped working. The line was clogged, the tray's filled with water, and then broke through the ceiling into the living room. I actually called American Home Shield to say, "You can send that guy to my house any time." He was spectacular. And that's the third different sub we had to come and try to fix this problem over the last two and half years, and he was the only one who figured it out and got it done. And he was here for so long. He worked so hard, kept trying things to figure it out, and if that didn't work, he’d say, "Well, let's try this."

    I had an 80 gallon water heater that was piped into my geothermal. It went out and I submitted a job request. AHS wanted to replace it with a 50 gallon instead of the 80. I needed the same water heater so I was told I could pay and have the 80 installed and receive a pay out for what they would cover. I went ahead and had it done. My first call to AHS the associate took my info and said I would receive an offer via email within 7 business days. Weeks later call #2. I call as they haven't got back with me. AHS associate said they were just waiting on me to send an invoice (which was never communicated). I hung up and emailed said invoice.

    Weeks later again (today) I call and an associate tells me they will not be processing a cash out. I laugh and get transferred to someone else. The Lady tells me I can't be paid because I had them do the work already!?!? I said excuse me. The story changed a few times and she said I should not have had the work done before I received a payout option. I was never told this til just now months later. lol. Apparently you are not supposed to have the AHS contractor they send out do the work if you want them to give you a payout. It was really exhausting listening to the explanations. The water heater and installation cost me over 2k.

    Her bottom line was that I will not be paid because I had the contractor they sent out do the installation. Clearly this is a company out to make money on hoping people forget and give up on claims. I will be handing it over to my attorney tomorrow so now they can pay the invoice plus attorney fees. Highly recommend against this company. Clearly after the bottom dollar and not there for the customers best interest.

    The spring on my garage door broke, and a car was stuck in the garage. I contacted American Home Shield, and the garage door repair company phoned me shortly thereafter (much to my relief). The communication was excellent and they did the repair by early afternoon. When the door contractor called me he told me they always repair both springs if they can, and he gave me favorable pricing to do so as it would save money in the long run. Everything was done quickly and effectively and for a lot less money than I would have paid without the warranty. I am very pleased!

    I've been an American Home Shield member for years, and will be in the future because they do a great job. My home warranty has been so worth the price, and their customer service is top notch. The only issue has been with some of the repair companies that they contract with. Through the years I've had maybe 2 bad experiences with repair companies being flaky and/or not completing things in a timely manner. Both times I contacted American Home Shield customer service, and they were awesome. The company that never called me back did after I spoke to an American Home Shield customer service representative. I highly recommend this company.

    Only choosing 1 star because 0 wasn't able to be chosen. AC Issue began on 6/7, was completely patient understanding it would take time to get out and get resolved. While waiting, 2nd zone went out, leaving without any zones working in the dead of summer. Initially after placing call for 2nd zone, was told it would be 3 weeks to get done. Called AHS at which point I talked to the only positive on this voyage - she teamed the work with the same company that was coming to fix the first unit. Hurray, right? 2nd unit had to have fan replacement - so parts took weeks to get in and then return visit was scheduled, so continued running one unit the entire time. Finally the 2nd unit got fixed - but at the same time the first went down again.

    Chalked it up to bad luck; however this is where it gets worse. I logged ANOTHER ticket - still same 10 days prior to visit - and then...when they came there was an issue so they put nitrogen in to check pressure on a return visit. Paperwork was mishandled and didn't receive any return calls, so called back 10 days later and sat on/off hold for 3 hours only to find they would email the authorization department. I said I needed confirmation and was told ALL they could do was send an email. Obviously frustrated, hung up and waited for the results of that magical email to authorization. Another week passes - no calls. I call AHS back up and get fed the same answers at which point I told them it was unacceptable and I needed to be copied on the email to authorization; to which I was told they couldn't do that.

    As it turns out, after sitting on hold requesting to talk to someone higher up there was a dropped ball and the 'authorization' I was waiting for couldn't be found in their system - obviously would have been great to know that a week prior. Thankful I was finally talking to someone who actually understood the situation - I asked what do we need to do; at which point I was told they needed authorization from me on coolant. I let her know I would have paid that the same day of the original visit and had offered to, but said ok and we could continue. Got the call from local company, paid the coolant charge, and the best they could do was Wednesday (today August 21st) from Friday. Whatever right - as long as it's finally fixed.

    Tech comes out and the coolant wasn't the only issue - more parts are needed. We're now 2.5 months from initial call. I'm out ~$2k between coolant fees and trip charges (on top of the annual fee) and absolutely nothing is resolved. Downstairs is at its coolest at 90, upstairs drops into the low 80's at night. I obviously voiced my frustration on the phone and have gotten 0 commitment to request for resolution this week. You can find a better warranty company - I promise you that. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere, this isn't it.

    I've had AHS warranty for several years and has been a decent experience. This last time though really upset me. In June of this year (2019), my heat pump went out and they contacted the local heat and air company. Service call was performed of which I paid for. It was determined that I needed a new compressor that AHS would pay for and install. I was good with that except for the fact they will only pay for $10 per pound of freon. Well, it takes about 10 pounds of freon and the heat and air company charges $120 per pound (A Huge Ripoff!!). They won't budge on their price. Since I am in the process of selling my home, I was in no hurry to get this repaired (house was empty). I asked the heat and air company to hold the ticket open until I found a buyer, said he would.

    After approximately 10 weeks (70 days) they close the ticket. I called to give them the go ahead to fix my unit and was told since it had been over 60 days, they would have to charge me another service fee! Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told he or she was busy and that they would tell me the same thing, "after 60 days a new service call has to be initiated". I could understand if it was for another broken item but, this was for the same issue. I feel like they won't budge on anything to make the customer happy. I have had their warranty for several years and a have more than paid for all of this in monthly charges!

    This company does not provide the services it promises and is fraudulent. On 7/31/19, my husband and I put in a ticket, because our AC was not working. On 8/2/19, a contractor came to the house, and admitted there was a problem with the inside unit, but he refused to work, when he saw the cover on the outside unit was cracked. He left. I called AHS immediately, and they marked the case as urgent. I shared that I had brain surgery in May and my dog is epileptic, and we could not do without the air in the heat and humidity of Chicago. I never heard back from them on 8/3/19. On 8/5/19, I called again, and I was promised a phone call back that same day. That did not happen. I called on 8/7/19, cancelled our warranty for the next year and requested the $75 service fee be refunded. The woman asked, if they could get someone out to fix our AC, if I would consider staying with AHS - that should have happened anyways.

    I was promised a phone call back from a supervisor, but that it would come on 8/8/19, and he would be able to reissue the $75. That never happened. I called on 8/19/19, and I was finally told in 5-7 business days, we should get the $75 refunded, and they would look into why the AC was not fixed. I said they should pay towards what we had to pay to have a completely different company fix the air, because they were not responding, fixing the problem or holding up their end of the contract. The woman said that would not happen. She promised to call me on 8/20/19 with an update, and that also has not happened.

    We should never have had to go with another company to have our AC fixed given that we have paid our monthly payments to have AHS since August 2016, and we paid our $75 dollar service fee. They have given us nothing but run around and we still don't have the $75 refunded. This is fraud, and our entire contract should be reimbursed or money paid towards, what we had to pay out of pocket to go with a different company. This all happened in 90 degree weather plus humidity, and they did not even give a damn and still do not.

    I've had AHS for several years now, and this is the second time I've used them for my new (YEP, NEW / three-year-old) AC system, and they've been great! The blower motor became frozen and needed to be replaced, on a weekend. I had two different companies come out to diagnose it, and they both gave the same conclusion; however, their fees for a weekend replacement were exorbitant! The part was still under warranty, but the labor, nope! I figured I could ride it out for a day or two and then deal with it on Monday.

    I submitted my request for service via AHS website and heard from the AC repair company rather quickly. They were able to have a technician come to my home that afternoon, and the work was completed in less than an hour. The scheduler in the AC company's office was great and the tech was excellent; I cannot recommend them highly enough. I own an older mobile home and love the feeling of security I have w/ AHS. I hope I never have to use my plan, but I'm so glad it's there when I do need it! I imagine I've saved several hundred dollars over the three years I've had AHS and I plan on remaining a loyal and happy AHS member!

    I recently signed in for the home warranty with this company. Their customer service representatives are RUDE & Unprofessional. DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY. My water heater got leaks and When I called this guys, they charged me 100$ for a plumber visit and then he identified that we need to replace the water heater. After that they made us wait more than a week with no response. When we called them to check none of the representatives responded with correct information. They told all false information. When we asked to transfer to the supervisor they were disconnecting the call. We were struggling to fix the leaking water heater and we told we want cancel the contract because of their unprofessional response. They told that they won't refund us full. They will deduct 100$ from us. They are horrible. I am planning to sue them.

    There was a leak under our kitchen fridge and it was creating water hazard in the kitchen. I submitted a claim for it online -- as I always do things with American Home Shield. It was so much easier. Allen Appliance Services, the contractor, took two or three days to come out, but I wasn’t concerned. It was not an emergency. They were excellent, and they knew what was going on and what the fix was going to be -- it’s a very popular model of the fridge. Then, they were very detailed into what was going to happen and I followed their instructions. Everything worked out fine when they finally got the part in, which took another week. Their service and the copay, however, can get cheaper.

    Our air conditioning unit went out and American Home Shield got a person who came in and fixed it. But the AC went out again. I looked online and AHS had assigned the same person to do it again. But the person never received the notification. I had him come out anyway, on my own, because I needed the AC right then. It was my birthday and it was 104 degrees out. And then we saw that American Home Shield had switched my service request to another vendor. I just canceled that and paid for the service myself. But I was okay with it because I wanted it. The guy came to check my air conditioning because it wasn’t cooling the upstairs. He made sure that it was not an issue with the air conditioning unit itself. Then the second one, when the contractor had to come back out, I did it online -- sometimes, the option that I’m looking for, may not be there, though. The problem I had with my air conditioner was that it was leaking and that wasn’t an option that I could select. So, I called it in.     We've had our home warranty with American Home Shield since we moved in the house in 2012. We usually call in our claims and sometimes, we get a recording but if I talk to somebody and I have any questions or anything, they are very helpful.     Our built-in microwave stopped working and we filed a claim with American Home Shield to get a technician to come see it. I usually submit claims online and the online system seems fine. The tech then came out, took a look at the microwave, and realized there was a fuse that had to be ordered and replaced. He ordered it and the part arrived a couple of days later. But to get a tech to come back out took some time. We had to wait about a week and I had to call AHS and have someone reach out to me to schedule a time.     The claim with American Home Shield where Hazelett Appliance Service came was quite simple. One gentleman came by and took the dishwasher apart because it needed a thorough cleaning for its dial to work again. It was stuck and I didn’t wanna break it. The gentleman fixed that up real quick so I was pretty satisfied. The experience was nice and easy and I didn’t have any kinda issues. For the dryer, he had special ordered a part which is a little switch for it. It took like a week to get in, but otherwise, it was like a two-minute fix as well. The Hazelett guy was in and out relatively fast for everything that was throwing me off a little bit.

    A Wisdom Electric came out for the electrical conduit to my air conditioning unit but because of my interaction with the contractor and the situation, I have considered going back to Fidelity National Home Warranty. That’s the company that I had prior to American Home Shield. I went with American Home Shield because you’re not locked in to a contract and it was cheaper. But the contractor from A Wisdom Electric wasn't the most professional person. We went up on the roof to look at my air conditioning unit is and he insisted that the problem was caused by somebody actually pulling my conduit out instead of acknowledging that this was a problem. But I didn't feel like somebody had maliciously stepped on the conduit to pull the wires out.

    Another thing is that I paid the $100 fee to have somebody come out but because the contractor didn't get American Home Shield to correct the problem, I ended up having to pay another $110 out of pocket to get somebody to come and fix it. And this contractor couldn't understand why the other electrician said that the issue was caused by somebody pulling the conduit out. So my experience was very frustrating. The fact that the claim was denied because the contractor reported that it wasn’t a wear-and-tear situation and that somebody had actually done this was also very disconcerting. I was not pleased at all.

    I also can never figure out how to submit claims online. I tried but that did not work out for me. I actually called for this claim and submitting it was pretty easy. However, it was very difficult understanding the person that I was speaking to and trying to explain my problem to. I felt like I got the runaround.     Filed my service request on 08/14/2019 for broken air conditioner. Contractor promptly came on 15th morning and diagnosed the problem. Today is 08/20/2019 4PM. Still no resolution. It's Arizona with current temperatures in 110-114F range. AHS authorization department is still sitting on it. Every call to customer service is routed to an agent who can barely put together a sentence of English. One agent will say the request is approved, I will then call contractor who will say it's not approved. I will then call AHS again and they will say it is indeed not approved but they are waiting for authorization department and I am not allowed to talk to that department.

    Had American Home Shield on 2 homes I owned. I sold one and tried to have it cancel multiple times over a 9 month period and the only way if finally canceled was by canceling my credit card. Second, I tried to use my warranty on another home to fix my AC. I was told it was going to take 3 weeks, so I canceled this the following week (again, the only way to get it canceled was to cancel the payment on my credit card). So for the first house, they owed me a credit which I never received. Now they are calling me daily to get payment on the dwelling I still own, I explained to them I would be happy to continue the service if they apply the credit they owe me for the one they collected for 9 months that I didn't own. Then they say they will connect me to the next level of customer service, I tell them the situation and then they say, "I'm going to put you on a brief hold to review your notes" and then I get disconnected. This has happened over 10 times.

    I needed to have my air conditioner repaired. I paid my $100 service call fee and then am now getting hit with $325 in extra charges. They are supposed to cover $10 per pound of refrigerant but covered $0 and they are charging $125 because the coil inside the air conditioner isn’t out in the open. When I signed up they told me all labor was covered. There was just some things like refrigerant that was not covered. I wish I had never went with this company. I will be looking for much better coverage in the future.

    My AC went out on a Sunday evening. Put in service request first thing Monday morning and service was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. I asked AHS if I could use different company or expedite service call and was told the temp of the house had to be at least 105 degrees in order to make a scheduling change. Didn't matter that I have two younger daughters and a small dog that would have to endure house temperatures in the mid-90s. The following day my service request was mysteriously cancelled in their system and AHS couldn't tell me why it happened. They were going to have to reschedule service which would mean a longer amount of time without AC in my home. The customer service is poor at best and the concern for the people they serve seems almost non-existent. In the future if I buy a home I will be asking for a home warranty through a different company.

    On July 23rd I notice my HVAC unit was leaking and causing water damage to my property. I contacted American Home Shield and an AC tech was sent over. AC tech told my tenants that if it leaks again I should call a plumber. Of course it leaked again! On August 13th I called American Home Shield again. They put me in touch with Flow Right Plumbing. The first day, Flow Right didn't show up at all. The second day they didn't come at all. By the third day, I received a call from my neighbor saying that they had a notice on their door from Flow Right Plumbing with my name on it. Idiots went to the wrong house.

    I called American Home Shield and told them I was not happy with Flow Right Plumbing and that I wanted a different company. American Home Shield proceeds to tell me that Flow Right has to complete the job and that in the notes, they (Flow Right) reported that they came to my house twice with no response. I quickly disputed their claim and said they never showed and in fact went to the wrong address even though the correct address is on all documentation. After being on hold forever, authorization was given to seek another plumbing coming. The American Home Shield representative said someone from the new plumbing company would call me within 4 hours. I never received that phone call.

    The next day I called American Home Shield again and they tell me that they do not have any plumbing companies available in my area and that I could pay for it myself and send them the bill. Of course this pissed me off because if I had the upfront money to pay for a plumber, I wouldn't need American Home Shield. After several minutes of me arguing with them about their poor service, I was placed on hold again while the representative looked for a plumber.

    Eventually the representative returned to the phone with an alternative plumbing company but said they were closed for the day and gave me two telephone numbers, to call them myself in the morning and make arrangements! Are you kidding me? So basically I have to pay American Home Shield to google a plumber so that I can call and make the arrangements. Oh thank you American Home Shield for allowing me to pay YOU, to do it myself! My ceiling has been leaking since July 23rd. The water damage is getting worst every day. It has been 7 days between August 13th when I first requested a plumber and today. Still no plumber. In fact, there's not even a plumbing company assigned. I am canceling both of my American Home Shield contracts and checking out another company like American Residential Warranty.

    Decent service if you never experience a problem, but I have spent multiple hours (over 5 separate phone calls) with customer service, hearing the same prompts repeated to me over and over again, refusing to let me speak with a supervisor with no resolution of the problem. What is the problem I am trying to resolve? Over a month ago I requested service for my water heater. The technician they sent out arrived an hour late and HIGH (very strong smell of ** on him). He was extremely unprofessional, and all he did to attempt to repair the water heater was drain it and refill it (which I had done by myself), and then submit a request for replacing the water heater.

    I never heard anything back about replacing the water heater so I called AHS for an update. They could not check with their own replacement approvals department to see if it had been approved, but said that it could take up to another week to process. I am now 1.5 months out from the original request for service, and am on my 5th call with customer service, having them. At this point, I have wasted so many hours on this that I just asked if they could refund the dispatch fee and I'll handle it myself. Of course, they can't do that either. Needless to say, I will not be renewing my home warranty with American Home Shield.

    I contacted AHS and requested a service to fix my AC. They assigned me a contractor who is supposed to contact me in 24 hours. I was never contacted till I called them after 2 days and I was told that they are fully booked for 2 weeks and should ask AHS to assign a different contractor! I called AHS and they said they need to contact the original contractor and confirm it. AHS that I should call them back till get the first contractor online and find another one!!! I spent 2 X 30 minutes online and still is not res albeit that I had already paid $75! Why should I waste my time and chase AHS and subcontractor? What is the purpose of having AHS?

    It’s been 2 months since a plumbing company came to make a repair. I’ve called the service department every week at least twice a week since the repair was made because they can’t get anyone to come fix our drywall.     As a long time American Home Shield (AHS) customer, I were disappointed with the treatment I received on a recent claim for HVAC work. The vendor who responded was rude and did not fix the problem. I contacted AHS and was told the repair was not covered because the issue was not “normal wear and tear”. I pointed out the language in the contract that provides coverage in addition to normal wear and tear, including improper repairs. The AHS representative refused to acknowledge this. After speaking to several other AHS employees, I finally spoke to an employee who acknowledged the additional coverage but stated it do not apply in my situation because the improper repair was not to a covered item, even the item is clearly covered in the contract.

    AHS refused to follow their own contract and thereby violated the provisions of our agreement. Therefore, I contacted my credit card company to dispute the service fee and blocked AHS from charging to my card. I also contacted AHS to cancel. AHS told my wife their “system was down” and were unable to process the cancellation. Don’t use AHS. Set aside the $ you would spend on AHS in the bank and don’t touch it until you have household equipment that breaks. You can then decide what gets covered, not AHS.

    Splash Pool Care came out to service my request and did a great job. It was very simple to submit my claim online with American Home Shield. They said the contractor would call within 24 to 48 hours and they did. Then the contractor was out within a day or two after that. We just had to schedule a time that worked for both of us. He was very prompt and personable, and he was in and out in two hours. It was awesome. But the pool motor that was replaced is kinda acting up now. It's making this weird noise. The guy said it might be the bearing going bad but it's a brand-new motor. But Splash Pool Care just hasn't come back out. I was gonna call them back.

    We had an air conditioning problem where our condenser went out. It stopped working three weeks prior to me reaching out to American Home Shield, and a technician came out and fixed it. It broke again a week later, and it took about another week to get it fixed. Since they replaced the condenser, it's been working perfectly. It would've been nice if initially they would've fixed it correctly instead of it blowing up and being without air conditioning in Texas for two weeks. But once they figured out the real problem and it did blow up, then they fixed it just fine.

    With the type of the condenser that we have, they said it uses refrigerant and will be illegal in 2020. So, American Home Shield was great. They called and lined out all the things that would be out of pocket and all the things they were covering. But I asked them, "Well, what if we wanted to upgrade to one that would not be illegal in four months?" And they didn't understand the question. I had to go to that person's manager, and then that person's manager said, "Actually, this isn't our department. Someone from a different department will call you back to talk about it." And no one ever called me back.

    That wasn't ideal. We just moved forward because it was over 100 degrees and we needed it fixed. So, if it breaks in January, we're still under home warranty, and it's illegal. No one will fix it. So we'll have to replace it again. So, it's kind of in their best interest. But no one ever called me back to explain. If it's a few thousand dollars out of pocket, and they're gonna pay for a percentage of it, or however it works, whatever the details are, I wanted to know. We'll keep renewing the home warranty, so when it does break next time, it could be in January and it could be 10 years from now, and they'll have to replace it again.

    I was very pleased with my first repair request. We submitted the claim online through the American Home Shield dashboard and it was very easy. The contractors were also on time and very professional. It was great service. On another experience I'm working on right now though, the experience has been terrible. We've been without a refrigerator since August 4th and the parts did not get ordered in time until I followed up five times. I finally found out that the parts were never ordered until last week. I called today and parts are still on order. They said it would be another five to seven days at least. American Home Shield is saying it was with the contractor, and the contractor says it was American Home Shield. I don’t know who to believe.

    There was no follow up or follow through on the refrigerator repair on either American Home Shield or the contractor. If I didn’t call last week, I still wouldn’t hear from them and they still wouldn’t have the parts on order because I forced them to do something, threatening them with a bad review on every social media out there. At the moment, I would not offer them up to my worst enemy. It's hard to deal without a refrigerator, so thank goodness we have another one in the garage or we would have had to buy one.

    My claim with the air conditioning went really well. American Home Shield was really prompt and got everything done and got us the loan so we can pay it out with no interest. I usually try to submit everything online. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't have everything that could go wrong. But my AC issue was more generic, which was good. You could just put air conditioning, you didn't have to be so specific. Some of those like on the plumbing needs to know the specific issue. The last thing I did was the plumbing. We called. It really didn't have a good category, so I just had to pick leak.

    The contractors sent by American Home Shield were really professional and really good. The AC has been good since the repair. I probably need to call them back out. It seems loud to me. So, I don't now if something is shaken loose or what, but I would like to call them back about that. Also, with a purchase, they gave us 10 years where they come out and service the machine and check out the air conditioner.

    There was a time when I was having issues with my microwave. I called American Home Shield and asked if they could send a technician out to check my fuse box. Initially, I thought the problem was a fuse or a short. AHS sent the contractor they reached out to and their tech came out. He was at my place the next day and he was a super nice guy and he looked at everything. He even went outside. After which, he told me that the problem was not from there and said that he would look at some other things.

    I had thought that what I had was an electrical problem at first but the problem had nothing to do with the electrical system. I even had to call the manufacturer for the microwave. The tech who came narrowed down what my problem was which was the microwave itself. Every experience with AHS has been great and I've never had an issue with them.     American Home Shield sent a contractor who came out a few times. My dishwasher leaked, they fixed the leak, then there was a different leak and they fixed it. There were different leaks fixed like three times. And then, a couple of days later, there was a leak, and we were all dumbfounded because they changed pretty much everything and it's a very basic dishwasher. So I had requested them to come back out, and that was when American Home Shield sent a different company out. And I wasn't able to stay home. My wife was there and I'm the one who's followed through with everything that's been done from the beginning. So, the guy checked everything, looked at everything around the dishwasher, and there were no leaks. It's just periodic when it leaks. So, at that point, I just threw my hands up and said, "All right. Well, it hasn't leaked again yet." And it's going on a week and a half now, so hopefully it doesn't happen again.

    The problem is when it leaks, it leaves water on the floor, and then it's so slippery. The kids are running or my wife. They might slip and fall. And for six months, we had a towel down there soaking it up and it doesn't look right. It's crazy because it's a pretty basic washer. I know so well the guy that was coming out before to fix it and replace the leaks in the first place, and he's helped us with other appliances. He gives great service. Everyone's awesome, too.

    90% of the time, I'm the one that loads the dishwasher and we use the same soap. And even the guy just checked the soap, we even put a double soap just to see if it's just lathering so much that it's seeping through somewhere. It was not the case. The soaps that we use don't even have much suds at all. So when the new guy came out, because when we had few dishes in there at one point, he said, "Well, you don't have enough dirt or there's not enough in there." It was like he gave some excuse.

    I'm just thinking, "Oh, forget it. Come on, buddy, It shouldn't leak any way no matter what unless you put a ton of soap." With the clothes washer, if there's too much soap, it's gonna overflow somewhere. But the funny thing is there's never been soapy water on the floor. It's fresh water. We're just keeping our fingers crossed hoping it works. When the owner of the company came the latest time, the dishwasher wasn't leaking, and he kept trying forever. After 20 minutes trying stuff, finally, there was a leak. And then, he saw where it was coming from and he sent this other guy to change out the parts. But this last guy, he's a really old guy and he barely moved. He gave it a good shot and I'm sure he's very experienced, but he just couldn't get it to leak. It's so frustrating, because if it leaks again after two weeks or so, it's another $75.

    At that point, we'll just figure it out and probably have to get it changed out. We love that dishwasher, so not trying to finagle anything. If anything, we'd wait till closer time to sell the house and put something new in, but we just don't want it to leak. Since the latest guy had been out, we haven't had the leak yet. But that one leak after the previous repair just really screwed my head up. Nothing's changed since then and so far, we're doing okay.

    I've had AHS for a long time. Sometimes, I have some mishaps in the billing. My payments are sometimes late because I'm on disability. Recently, when I went to submit my claim, they said that I still had a past due balance of $50 but I told them that I just paid that. Other than that, I haven't had any trouble with them. The blower motor of our AC went out. I called AHS and I was told to expect the contractors to come out within 24 hours.     We've had the same problem every year for five years and it seemed like every year, we're constantly recharging the AC and it always has a leak, and it's annoying. There's a leak, and all they do is they keep putting Band-Aids on it. They just tell us it's low on refrigerant. And then, we ended up having to call them at least once or twice a year. American Home Shield won't pay to find the leak. It's cheaper for them to just have us do the refrigerant, but not for me.

    We also had an issue with the hot water heater. We had to call the guy out like three times, but that was within the 90 days and they were able to fix it. It still breaks, but the technician told us how to reset it. And now, my wife just goes up there and resets it. It lasts for a month and a half, and then she has to go up there and reset it.

    American Home Shield sent All Hours Emergency Plumbing for the garbage disposal that was leaking. I called AHS and submitted the claim. The first people that came out tried to rip me off. The contractor said he found something in there and AHS wouldn’t cover it, but he would put it in for a certain amount of money. So, I told him to hit the road. In my eyes, he wasn’t going by protocol and he wasn’t trustworthy to me. I called AHS back again, and they sent somebody else out and he repaired it. He said, “It’s shut from just typical wear and tear.” The other guy said he found something in there like a resealable plastic bag and if that hits the garbage disposal, it would disintegrate. He tried to say that bounced around in there and caused holes.

    We’ve had AHS for a number of years. Everything has always been top-shelf business. My experience was great. We’ve had air conditioning problems, and a contractor came out and fixed it. This issue with the garbage disposal, a very polite contractor came out and explained everything, and did the job. He cleaned up, left the house the way it looked, and he rolled.
