    Purchased their home warranty as a catch all for our new home. Seemed like a good option, but went with the wrong company to do it. My A/C broke quickly after I moved in, like a week or two. So, FEW, I have a warranty, so I call them up, and they get someone out right away. It's 90F at my house year-round here in Hawaii, so it’s a big deal, and I have three dogs, so I have to drive them around in our car to save them from the heat while we wait. The company knows this, and so they say they are rushing this one, asap. Blah blah blah.

    I will make a long story short and tell you that my air conditioning has still yet to be repaired and this is just passing the 3 month period with NO AC in the desert region of Hawaii where my house won’t stay below 88F in the morning before it HEATS BACK UP INTO THE 90s! I have been spending more taking my dogs to safety (which should be my home but it is not) then I would have spent just fixing it out of my own pocket.

    They said they have no max repair time stipulation... so they can take 5 years to fix your stuff if they want to and there is nothing that you can do about it. I will NEVER give them another chance after this and I am borderline going on base to see what legal action I have to take, if any. Buyer beware but this is a massive scam as far as I can tell. You have been warned. Save your time, and then save your money and build a safety net of your own instead of buying into this scam.

    Here is my rough experience with AHS: We moved into our new home on 8/13. All appliances were new and purchased by the seller. Soon after we moved in, I ran our dishwasher for the first time and realized that it would not drain. Called in AHS to send over an appliance technician who paid a visit on 8/21. He said, he can't do anything since it's under manufacturer warranty so fine. I called in the Frigidaire who then sent their authorized service provider (Electrolux). They came over a day after and found out that the dishwasher was connected to a 240 volt outlet that was located behind it. The outlet was invisible to any inspection since it was hidden behind the dishwasher under the kitchen counter. Manufacturer indicated that this voids their warranty and that I should call in the electrician. So I did through AHS by the book. An electrician arrives to remedy the outlet problem so that dishwasher can be serviced upon it.

    At this point AHS simply denies electrician's request to be paid claiming that it's a current overload (related to a sudden increase in surge due to overall power lines) while it's improperly installed and unknown preexisting condition as stated in my contract for which there is coverage. Moving onto next step an appliance technician comes in. Upon examination he suggests to replace parts and runs it by AHS. In his report he falsely indicates that there is full manufacturer's warranty while there isn't. Note that manufacturer had already relayed their report to AHS at this point.

    I called in AHS to solve the issue and they asked that I request a second opinion by another service provider while all they had to do was to contact the manufacturer with the work order details to confirm the absence of manufacturers warranty so that things can be expedited and I can have my dishwasher working again. I provided all details and they said they'd pass it onto their authorization department for them to give manufacturer a call while I'm waiting for my dishwasher to be fixed for weeks. It's very simple thing to do yet they'll drag their feet to not take care of my claim. Ahmet **.

    The only reason I'm giving them one star is for some of the customer service assistance I've received. The company itself has some major issues which could easily be resolved. I've had a contract with AHS for nearly 30 years, having paid over $15,000. During that time they have had a couple of work orders for my 1980 air-conditioning unit so they know it's on my second story roof. When I scheduled a work order, it was all automated. They assigned me to Maxon Air. That dispatcher scheduled a tech to arrive the following day but did not want any info from me and said the tech would diagnose when he was on site. When he arrived, he asked where my unit was located. I told him on the roof. He said their company doesn't carry liability insurance for ladders so promptly left.

    I had to start over again with AHS and was on the phone with a representative (Abby) for over an hour. I live in Phoenix and it's the middle of the summer so our temps are averaging 110 degrees and I've already been w/o air for two days. After approximately five phone calls to various a/c vendors, the AHS agent confirmed an appt with Patriot Air for the following day to arrive 12-3. At 10:30 am I received a call from another a/c company about scheduling an appointment. I told him that Patriot Air was on their way. I thought that was odd so I contacted Patriot Air and found out they couldn't come as they were doing an install and didn't have enough employees to assist me.

    I didn't hear a word from AHS about this incident. I had to contact AHS again and because it was Friday, they were not able to get an a/c company to schedule me until Mon which would mean a week without a/c...unacceptable. This phone call was two hours long. The representative disconnected me but to her (Leah) credit, she did call me back after about five minutes. I have asthma and some heart issues as well as an exotic parrot in the house. I asked to be reimbursed for a portable a/c unit, approximately $250, which they would not do. I can't go to a hotel because of the parrot. Plus, AHS wouldn't reimburse for that either.

    I hope the company on Monday, Valleywide Cooling, keeps their appointment with me, is able to diagnose and fix my unit that day. AHS has some bad business practices and are not putting their customers first. Shame on them! UPDATE: Valleywide Cooling recommended to replace the unit. AHS sent out another company for a second opinion. So, rather than replace a 1980 unit, they opted to have the second opinion company fix it by "brazing" the leaking coils. I had to pay $630 for freon and was without a/c for 10 days.

    I've been a customer for years, and noticed there was a possible leak either from my washer or plumbing. I requested service August 7 and it is still unresolved as of September 3rd. Unable to speak with a supervisor, inconvenience, rude and abrasive contractors, my home owner's insurance company requires I continue to mitigate damages until a professional diagnosis is made. However, that has not been done over this past month. There have been at least five contractors, and none has pinpointed the problem. I've asked representatives to escalate the service request to no avail, I've asked to speak to a supervisor to no avail, and the website does not provide information on escalating a matter. This is not a frivolous complaint; this is a serious matter. I am very frustrated and at my wit's end. However, my monthly payment is made every month, no problem in doing that in a timely manner.

    I had a great experience with American Home Shield. The contractor came out and I explained to him how the air conditioning quit. He said, “Well, have you checked the batteries in your thermostat?” And I said, “There are batteries in the thermostat?” He said, “Yes.” He took the AC down and said, “Let me put some batteries in it and see what happens.” Sure enough, that fixed it. What a genius, he knows his stuff. He was personable and he loves his job. I've used them for something else and he solved that, too. I've been with American Home Shield for a year and a half. It’s 30 bucks a month and for that I’m getting good service. I would recommend them to everybody.

    I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for a clogged drain in my garage. That worked out really well. More recently, I submitted another claim for a faucet replacement and had an easy experience. I called them and their reps took care of it over the phone. They were very quick.     With American Home Shield, if I have two problems, I can't do an online order for a claim. Their system doesn't let me. I have to talk to a rep to say I have two issues that need to be fixed with the same type of technician. AHS always tells me to go online and I can't really do that. I've tried and there's no way to do it. Furthermore, I can't request any specific contractor. So, I usually just call and talk to a rep but then the wait time can be very long.

    I had a claim where United Air Temp Inc. was sent to do service. The tech who came was really good. He fixed the first few problems and he turned off the water to do that. He explained what the issue was. However, I ran all the water in the house after he left for a pretty long time but we were still getting major kickback that where it sounds like the pipes are shaking. Even though we were taking showers and draining everything and doing everything that we could, our system was still kicking back. So, we thought that the tech did something he shouldn't have. We called the tech back but the minute he got back to our place, the system wasn't kicking back. I called him back a second time and that time, the noise went away. Now, everything is working okay.

    I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for the AC unit and they responded right away. They were eager to take care of my problem. The contractor had to put a compressor and the other unit was leaking underneath it within the garage. They cleaned it out and fixed that for me. They did it all, and I’m just so proud. It saved me a lot of money. Since then, everything has been working fine.

    The technicians were courteous, concerned and they explained what was going on. They didn’t have any hit and miss going on, which was what I liked because when you go deal and ask them, they would send a technician and you can get in a lot of problem. They were honest. They did what they were supposed to do and they didn’t try to trick me or did things that they didn’t have to do. So, I was very satisfied with them. I would recommend AHS to anybody.     The fan on the stove went out. We called American Home Shield and it took a couple of days for somebody from the contractor company to give me a call back. When they called me, I described what was going on and then they came over. As soon as I described to the handyman who was doing it, he said that it was the fan and that it would take 10 days then he left. In watching some YouTube videos, I understand that the fan is specific to the model. But in just hearing what I had to say, the guy knew exactly what it was as we were walking up the stairs. He just asked for the model number of the oven, which was something that I could’ve described over the phone. He didn't have to come all the way out just to be here for five minutes to do that. I also didn’t like that it’s a 10-day to wait for the part. We were without an oven for 10 days. But, we managed.

    I’m not mad at the company or American Home Shield. But if they know they are coming out to fix a stove, they should have the right part before coming out. Other than that, I like having the protection. I’ve had to use AHS quite a few times and I’ve never not been happy with the service. The fees are reasonable and they fix everything. I like the peace of mind of knowing if something happens, it’ll only cost me 77 bucks for somebody to come out and fix the issue until it’s resolved.

    The vent was clogged up, but the AHS contractor didn't work on that because of the dryer. Apparently, we had called the wrong people to come out. So, we got a hold of somebody on Angie's List to clear the vent for the dryer and the guy repaired it. The AHS rep I spoke with me was very, very nice. We called them on a weekend and their contractor came out that Monday or Tuesday, and they were very professional.

    I had a plumbing issue, an appliance issue, and electrical issue on the same day. So, I had a plumber, an electrician, and appliance guy come. My experience with the person I spoke with when I submitted the claim was fine. But I was a little disappointed that having three incidents go on the same time, I had to pay three separate $75 service fees. But I got everything taken care of.     We had a power surge, so I was worried about it. I filed a claim online as I wanted to set up a service call for it to be checked. The tech who was sent replaced one little canister-looking thing that wasn't putting out all that it should be. He came on time and he was done fairly quickly. American Home Shield is as good as always. I've had them since I bought this house five years ago. When I was in the house for a week, the garbage disposal went. Their contractor also came right out and fixed it, so that was great. AHS is a good investment.

    Over the weekend, I called American Home Shield due to an issue with a contractor. There was some miscommunication on the phone. I had a problem with a specific vendor and called AHS to request a different company to come. The rep was getting confused about that. She was telling me she didn't think they could do that, but they ultimately did. In the past, AHS has done this.

    Most recently, I had a light switch in the kitchen that was not working properly. It was not turning on and the light was dimming really oddly. I submitted a claim to AHS and Fraser Electric called the next day. They came out and replaced the switch and now everything is working much better. AHS's contractors have always been very helpful and nice.

    The claim with AG Appliance was fine and the tech did a fantastic job. It was for a washer, and he replaced a control panel. Quick, efficient and very nice. I did the claim online and the website is a good system.     I'd been having a plumbing issue in the bathroom for two days, and I made a claim for it online. It was easy to navigate through the online process at American Home Shield. We've had to reschedule a few times though. Because of my working location, and it takes me roughly 30 minutes. The first time, when I get home, they were gone already. The second time, the service rescheduled for me the past Saturday, but they called me and there was an emergency so they had to postpone it to 6:00 PM. They did not show up, so we rescheduled for tomorrow.

    The air conditioning unit was not working fully. I had a guy come out but he didn't do anything. He told us that it was the filter. I went and bought a filter and put the filter in. They had to send him back out but they were very rude. The man literally told my husband, "There's nothing else I can do," and walked out. Literally, it took him almost three weeks to get back out there. He came and said it must be something different. At that point, he was trying to argue back and forth with my husband. My husband said, "No, I don't want you. Go ahead and leave." He also called the company and told them they could send somebody else.

    AHS sent out another company after that. They came in, and the guy found out immediately what the problem was and fixed it. As soon as he came in, he said he'd go outside. The first one never even went outside. The issue was something that was with some kinda blockage where it was cluttered. He uncluttered it, and the air works fine now.

    The reps at AHS are not helpful for the customer. I called the company and they said AHS never put in the request for them to go back out. This went on for almost three weeks. I've been with AHS for about 12 years and I've never had a problem. But this one blew me out the water.     I had an a recurring problem with my refrigerator's ice maker. Once I submitted the claim for it to American Home Shield, it took about a week for the contractor to come out. The last guy that was out was really good. He seemed to be the most knowledgeable person about what the problem was and he was professional. He had to order some parts, gave us an idea on what to do to make it work better, and we did it. Then he came back, but it was still not right. It worked for about a week, and then it was leaking again. We went through this problem about a year ago and had two or three different services come out, and then we just gave up. We turned it off, and we were dealing with it.

    It's like AHS just wants to send a repairman out. After they’ve sent somebody out three or four times and it still doesn’t work, it is just a pain in my butt. And I also had them send somebody out for a dryer, and the guy said, “Yeah, they’re made kinda cheap,” and he did not resolve that either. We didn't pay a cheap price for it and it was purchased brand new. It was a year old and it was making some thumping noises. So, I’m not really thrilled. Their responsiveness is okay. I don’t know if it is the caliber of the repair people or what it is, but I’m not happy with getting my problems resolved. We had another house and AHS was much better. But this last two years, it wasn't.

    The claim with my garage door went very well. The door was getting hung-up when it was either going up and going down. The rails had become un-adjusted and they were too close to the wall, and the door itself was hanging up against the wall when it was coming down.     I'm disgusted with American Home Shield. My water heater wasn’t lighting and I called them three times to get it fixed. The first time was a week and a half before I got anything done. The people did not listen to me and submitted a claim for a furnace repair instead of a water heater repair. And whoever they submitted me to never called them back. I also noticed that they charged me but nobody contacted me. So a week later, I called again and talked to an idiot. I told them the issue that these people never called me and that the claim was not for a furnace. It was for a water heater. And the rep called the same people who didn't bother to call me. Then, I called the third time and the lady listened and changed it to a water heater claim like it should've been. She called the appropriate people and I heard from them the next day. Then the tech came out three days later and replaced a part. He was wonderful.

    One of the air conditioners was blowing hot air. A & R Complete Service Corp had to recharge the system and change the Schrader valve on it. It went good. The only thing is that American Home Shield needs to screen their subcontractors a little bit better. We had one subcontractor that tried to sell me a hot water tank and that was not what they were called out for. They were called for a leak next to it. But I recommend AHS. We have had them on a couple of different houses and they're always right on top of it to take care of things.

    I have a warranty which I got because my real estate broker suggested it. She said it was a good deal. I never had such a thing before because I'm a very handy person. We moved into our new home and I went downstairs one day and saw water on the ground. I thought I needed a new water heater because I didn’t know anything. I saw water coming out of the hot water heater. So, I called up the phone number and then registered. It actually was a Friday night, and nobody was there. They said I would have to wait until Monday morning. Monday morning came and they sent down a company called Spry Plumbing & Heating and they were extremely friendly.

    They evaluated the problem and told me it was a simple gasket on the overflow line. The tech said, “You do not need a hot water heater, but I'll drain your hot water heater, I'll inspect it." He went through the whole rigmarole, and he was as neat as a pin. He did not spill a drop of water downstairs, and he took care of everything. Everything was put together very nicely, too. He was polite and efficient, and it only cost me $100 for the service call. Since the repair, it has been fine. The thing will probably last until the hot water heater goes and then it will be another repair. It was the first time ever that I've had such a company do anything like this for me. It seems to be a good investment.

    The plumber that was sent by American Home Shield was good, but the first AC guy they sent was terrible. When he came out, I told him what was going on and that there was a leak somewhere, so he went up in the attic and he claimed that he un-drained the drainage just in five minutes. That doesn’t sound right. So, we still had the same problem. He wanted to leave, and I said, “Wait a minute, you're supposed to check the AC unit on the outside too to make sure everything is okay. So, he went out there and checked it, and he came back and told me that I was four pounds low of Freon. I'm like, “Four pounds low. How can that be? And it was still getting cold. It just had a leak.” He had to fix that and tune it up, and then that would help the leaking problem.

    He charged me $250 to fix that. He wanted like $89 a pound to put Freon. Right after he finished checking and charging me, he took 250 to tune it up and he said, “Well, everything should be fine, but you don’t need a Freon now.” “Now, how did you say that I needed Freon and now, all of a sudden, I don’t need it? I didn’t understand that.” I contacted American Home Shield and they sent another plumber, and he came out and he was really good and he took care of me. Then, they sent a new AC guy after him and he was the one that really helped me find the leak. Both of the plumbers and the latest AC guy were really good. He stood in the attic for almost two hours. The other guy was in the attic for 5 or 10 minutes and he was done, and then he charged me $250 talking about how he tuned up the AC. Everything is done now. American Home Shield was on it.

    I reported an issue on July 21, 2019. It is now September 3, 2019 and I am no closer to: resolution, satisfaction or compensation for money spent. I have spent over $7k of my money to replace my entire a/c unit because the repair recommended by the company was considered ill advised by multiple HVAC companies. AHS instructed me to email an invoice as proof of repair so I can be partially compensated $700. I was told my invoice, which was clearly marked as an invoice, was a quote not an invoice. I asked customer service to connect me to the proof of repair department and they refused. I have been placed on hold for a combined time of nearly 14 hours since initial report. Please do research before signing up with this company.

    We have been with AHS for 5 years. Our hot tub quit working (it was covered under our contract with AHS). It took weeks to get someone out, he came out 3 times and could not figure out what was wrong. The area we live in has 13 different hot tub repair businesses. We finally called one near us to come out, within 10 minutes they had it figured out, ordered the part, and replaced it...all within 10 days. When we asked to be reimbursed, it was denied. Local shops we talked with said they would not do business with AHS for various reasons. We paid the $498 repair bill ourselves and asked to cancel our contract. We then received an email saying there would be a $65 cancellation fee, something they did NOT tell you when you were asking to cancel. I would recommend you NOT go with AHS, we are certainly going to be letting everyone we know about the horrible service.

    If I could give them less than one Star I would do that! Absolute worst customer service I have had to deal with. Yet they are quick to take your deductible money out of your account! Only thing this company is good for is a Re-Key. The person who showed up for that was on time and personal. So the dishwasher goes out, they send a service person out from SEARS IN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA! Service person says the motherboard is gone out on the dishwasher. He orders one, it comes in within two days. Now two weeks later I am still waiting on the Sears Repairman to come put this part on!! Did he die? Did he get lost?

    Made numerous calls to Sears, hung up on three times. And then they say it will be another week for repairman to come put part on so that is three weeks without dishwasher! American Home Shield has to be the worst company going yet every Realtor in town recommends them for a Home Warranty? Is it a racket? Do they get kickbacks for the fees they charge? Someone please tell me why this is the worst Home Warranty Company available yet Realtors recommend you taking one out?

    After being a customer for 5 years, they charged me Administration fee for cancellation of the account. I was trying to cancel account because there was a monthly fee increase on my account which was not informed to me. They claim that they sent a letter but not an email. During the cancellation, he agreed to waive the administration fee but sent an email to pay that administration fee after disconnecting the phone call. I called again to discuss the fee but they were not interested to talk as the account is already cancelled. Please re-think again before signing the contract.

    1) When you are out of service for A/C or heat appliances, there is no guarantee that you get service immediately. Check for the contract.
    2) Yearly contract?
    3) Administration fee for cancellation?
    4) Refrigerant cost through AHS.

    6) Long wait on customer service calls if you are trying to make a complaint using phone.

    There were leaks in the shower fan, toilet and water heater, and I submitted my claim online to American Home Shield. Navigating through the website was pretty straightforward but AHS should notify you or send an email after you submit the claim. Luckily, I logged back in and it said that the contractor was waiting on a call from me. I assumed that after I submitted the claim, I would be called to schedule but it said that the next step was for me to call somebody. So, they should have told me to call them.

    The contractor was great. I called them Monday morning around 8:00 o’clock and when they answered, the girl said she was gonna send the plumber out that afternoon. I wasn’t available that afternoon so, they scheduled a time that I was available. They called me ahead of time and the guy was there pretty promptly. The guy changed the wax ring on the toilet. He also changed the hoses running into the inlet and the outlet on the water heater hoses that corroded just from age. He got under the house to look at the other problem and gave me a roundabout on what we needed to do next. The toilet is not leaking and the water heater is fixed but the main issue is still a problem. AHS didn’t cover that so, I had to go in to homeowners to do what they wanted to do. Still, AHS did what was agreed upon on both parties. So, it wasn’t bad. They took care of me and fixed what was in the contract.

    I placed the claim with American Home Shield online for my washing machine. They automatically charged me the amount that they were supposed to charge. Their contractor took about a week to come out. He was really good. He just took so long to get the parts to fix the unit. I had no idea where the holdup was. I don't know who had to order the parts. I don't know what took so long. He said that he would be back in about a week. It would have been done a lot quicker if he got the parts locally instead of having to order them and then shipped through him. But my washing machine has been working good since the repair.

    The first time I called American Home Shield, they tried to get a person out of Henryetta to come and fix the air conditioner, but didn’t call me back for a long time. Henryetta is an hour and a half away, so I called Home Shield back and asked that I wanted someone from Tahlequah. They were good to do that.     We had a leak and we weren't sure if it was a plumbing or an appliance issue. So, we had to deal with that first. We started with the plumber and it wasn't, so then we had to pay another $100 fee for an appliance. When I submitted the claim, I originally set it up for the appliance and then, I thought that maybe a plumber could do both. But the plumber said that it was leaking at the connection to the dishwasher so, I would need to call back and redo it. Each time you call, you have to wait five days to get somebody out.

    The contractor came and he noticed that there was a leak. He had to order a part so, he had to come back for that. Once he got it working and that part, he started to run it through a cycle and realized there was an issue with the motor. So then, he had to order that part and I had to wait again. We were without our dishwasher for at least a month. Originally, I thought we had an electrical issue because the electric was tripping on the dishwasher but t was a water issue the whole time so, where there is some cross over, it’s a little bit frustrating. You don't really know who to call or which type of trade so, that's a little bit hard.

    I also had a ceiling fan that wasn’t working, and on the website, you can only state one thing. So, if you have two issues, you have to call and you’re on the phone for at least 20 minutes of waiting to go through that. I screenshot it because I was eventually gonna try to get a hold of our rep from AHS to say that I hope the clients aren’t having to do it but I’m sure they are. The website doesn't cover everything and sometimes, it doesn't match up. Then sometimes, it wouldn't let you write a comment to specify that it was more than one thing. So, when the contractor calls to ask what's going on and you tell him three different things, he'll that he only has an approval for one thing. So then, you have to call back and get it. Still, I would recommend American Home Shield. Normally, we have good experiences and the people that come out are always professional, so that's always nice.

    Submitting a claim online is more efficient than over the phone but sometimes, I need to talk to a person. Once I get the diagnostic facts, I usually call in and speak to somebody to make sure that we're all in the same page. My experience in speaking with the reps has been great. I haven't had any issue and usually, American Home Shield sends a contractor within 48 to 72 hours.

    VIP’s service was great. They were efficient and the diagnostic went in quickly. They put in the diagnostic through American Home Shield and American Home Shield contacted me and told me that they were just gonna be replacing my refrigerator. They replaced it with the same one. However, I've been waiting for a callback about a plumbing issue. I was hoping for a buyout but they said I have to get the repair done.

    My AC claim went better than expected because prior to me getting Qualified Service Systems to come and do the work that was required, it was another company called Triple A. I didn't get a good feeling that the technician was aboveboard. I know I have to pay for the Freon because it was additional charge. The warranty only covers for so much. But the technician would say things like, “Well, if you pay me in cash and not a check, I can give you a better deal.” And then, he would say, “Well, if things don't work, give me a call on my cell phone and I’ll come back out. You don't have to go through the warranty program.” I didn't feel comfortable with that. But when I did that, he was like putting Band-Aids on the problem. The problem was never resolved.

    I went online and placed another call to American Home Shield. The drop-down menu said that the problem was not being repaired before. I got lucky after I had the problem three times, and Qualified Service came out, and they did a great job. The AC was actually leaking. That’s why I was losing Freon, and they repaired the leak. The showed the leak to me, and he walked me through the process of how he was gonna repair it. He came back out and repaired it.

    I was told by the Triple A tech that he had flushed the pipes because it was also leaking in the house. But apparently, he didn't do a good job, and they came back out again and they finished that off. He also told me that my drains were clogged, and he unclogged them. But again, that problem reoccurred with the air conditioner, which was shut down, and it was the clogging problem. I called the guy and he told me to just unscrew the pipe and let it sit there for a while, and put a bucket, and it would clear it up itself. And then I should call me back if that didn't work. But when Qualified Services came, they put a machine to it and pump it through and pumped all the gush out. They explained to me that it was really backed up. I was very pleased with them. They were very professional. They came and identified the issue. They explained it to me at a level where I could understand it, and they resolved it.

    I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed that if I ever have to use another company again, it won’t be Triple A because I don't feel like the tech did a thorough job. I wrote an email back to American Home Shield explaining that whole episode with Triple A and how that developed because it was something they may wanna know if other people are having the same problems with that company. I also tried calling but it was very hard to get through. You always get the recordings and you can never talk to a real person, so I just went ahead and wrote an email. But I’m satisfied with American Home Shield so far. I had an issue with my washer and dryer, and those problems were resolved very quickly.

    I had a service order with American Home Shield on August 23rd and they scheduled it. The contractor, Christian, came in and he was fantastic. He had to go back several times for the parts for the heater, but everything was done. He also said that he tested it to make sure that it would heat up the spa and the pool. They were going for one issue and then they saw a crack in the header, so they replaced it because they knew that it would be a problem soon. They were really honest, ethical and courteous. Christian is phenomenal. He spent two straight days working on our equipment. He did a lot of work in the pool heater, pump, and the saltwater system. I wish I could have him around all the time.

    After Christian left, we had a leak in the pump, so he came back, reopened it and fixed it. This past weekend, which was roughly a week after he worked on it, was the first time we were gonna heat up the spa for my kids and it was not heating up. We had it on for hours just to get the jets and it wasn’t heating up at all. I checked at the temperature and it was not doing anything. So, I went back there to check on the heater itself, and then it looked like the front panel was just leaning against it. It’s not closing and the screws are not holding it together anymore.

    When I called and left the company a message, I got an auto-texting that they closed their service order on this and so I’d have to call American Home Shield again. Also before they worked on the heater, it was just making a bunch of noise and it was taking three minutes to heat up the spa. Now it doesn’t heat up at all. So, I now have to pay for another service order to fix the same problem.

    When I talk to someone from AHS and I’m lucky enough to get someone from here, they're very competent and they tell me everything that is true. But sometimes I call and I get someone from India. I will ask if an issue is covered and they'll say yes. They tell you something that is not true and then you end up paying for something and you don’t get a refund because the other guy said that it's not true. On one issue, I made a phone call because I wasn’t sure if it was covered. They said that the leak in my sprinkler pipes was covered but when the plumbing company came out, they said that it was not covered because it was on the outside of our house. So I called AHS back about it and asked if I could get my refund on this call. AHS said that as soon as the other issue is resolved and the company closes their claim, then I would get a refund, but I never did. So, I called and asked for a supervisor to call me back and they said someone would call me back.

    Initially, the claim with American Home Shield for an AC repair was submitted online. We thought it was an issue with the AC, but we found out that it was the water heater. So we had to talk to somebody over the phone after we realized it wasn't the right thing. They made an appointment and we got someone to come out the next day. The water heater was leaking from the bottom. It wasn't any fixing and it had to be replaced. Then it took two days for them to come back and put the new one in. It would have been better if we figured out what it was, but it was a new house and we weren't sure what was leaking. But they certainly helped us. Now, everything is working great.     The air conditioner wasn’t working. The issue was the motor. I did a claim with American Home Shield. Certified Comfort did the service first, and it didn’t last. And since he charged me for a service he didn’t provide and then double-billed my credit card, I did not want to use him again. So, we went to the Temperatures Unlimited and he was very good.

    I would not recommend Certified Comfort to anyone. The guy came and said, “Oh, I have to get parts. If you wanna wait a week, we’ll do standard, or I can expedite it and we can do it in the next couple days, but that’ll cost you $150.” So I paid the $150 because it was over 100 degrees and my husband had pneumonia. Eight days later, he fixed it. I really don’t think he expedited the parts, and then, he did a double-charge on my credit card. I got the refund on the first $150. It was a USAA credit card, so we were able to cancel that second charge. Other than that, American Home Shield has always been really helpful. I haven’t had any problems with them at all.

    American Home Shield sent Carolina Appliance out but they didn’t come out because of the storm. We lost electricity so they couldn’t fix the heat pump with no electricity. They contacted me. They were gonna come yesterday morning, but they couldn’t come because of the electricity. The electricity was restored yesterday evening, and I told them that. The contractor asked me to let him know as soon as the electricity was restored. So, I did that yesterday evening. I’m waiting for him to get back to me this morning to let me know when he can come.

    I go to American Home Shield's website to submit my claims. It’s very user-friendly. I am told that I’ll be contacted by the contractor in 24 hours. It normally occurs in less than 24 hours. It depends on when I submit the claim. I’ve been very satisfied with American Home Shield. Every time I call, somebody comes out, they fix what needs to be fixed, and it’s done. My experience with most of the people that have come out has been very good.

    My washer and dryer went out within a week of each other. I called American Home Shield's 1-800 number and submitted 2 claims. The reps whom I spoke with did a very good job.     I came home and noticed that my sprinklers wasn’t coming on. I told my gardener that something was wrong with my sprinkler system, and then it wasn’t.     I bought this house a year ago, and the person who sold it to me gave me a year of American Home Shield. I submitted a claim online and it was a bit easy. They could break their menus down a bit better and organize it a bit more to make the menus smaller for their customers but it was fine because I knew what I was doing. The contractor came out and did more than they should have. They found another leak which was a problem because they knew that something was wrong when they were doing some investigation into the leak that I did have. They were incredibly thorough. Once they noticed that I had a lot of water in my crawlspace, they did a bit more digging, and then they found that my dishwasher was improperly installed and had been leaking water for five days into my house.

    For the most part, everything has been good and I've been happy with AHS but I ran into a situation to where AHS didn't cover a major appliance. It was a little weird especially with the list that they currently have. The guy didn't know what the appliance was, so I kinda had a negative customer interaction with somebody who didn't quite know the situation. I've been with AHS for a year and I'm coming up on the renewal. I'm still deciding what I want to do if I'm going to renew it. Just weighing all my options and finances.

    In the back of the fridge on the inside, there was a hole there that drains the water when it does something by itself, and that whole area was frozen up. So, the water ran on the side and underneath the fridge, and it was coming out. American Home Shield was good, and Alpha Appliances did a nice job. The guy did everything he was supposed to do.     Both my washer and dryer broke down. The heating unit in the dryer was out. The electrical component in the washer was out as well so it wouldn't go into certain phases of the wash. I called the claim in to American Home Shield after having trouble getting through the process on the net. Everything went well with the claims rep and the contractor who was sent was fairly prompt. He had to wait for the part though so the overall downtime was close to two weeks. With AHS, whenever I've had a problem, they've taken care of it.

    It takes too long to get AHS on the line. Still, their reps are very professional and helpful. I submitted a claim for a refrigerator repair over the phone. The contractor who came thereafter was on time and he was excellent. He replaced a part first, and that didn’t work. Then, AHS replaced the refrigerator. However, the replacement was delivered with a dent. AHS had to come back out and get the dented unit. Now, I gotta set up an appointment and miss work again for them to deliver a second one.

    I recommend AHS 100% especially after using their service. It was fast and professional; a smooth transaction. BUT, I had my credits cards stolen out of my purse. As a result, my automatic payment to AHS was interrupted. I have made numerous attempts to update my credit card online following their instructions sent to me and what I found out is that I'm sent to an expired account that says ”no payment due.” I log in and it says a payment is due, so I follow the instructions and I am taken to the expired account.     15 years of patronage and ultimately failed to replace AC. To make a long story short it took a month and a half to replace a compressor on a 30 year old central AC unit. It worked for a little bit, but within a month the system was back to not cooling the house below 85. Two more visits by the contractor where they found "nothing mechanically wrong," I got a second opinion and replaced my AC within a week, but because I didn't want to wait weeks or months to go through their bureaucracy they refuse to reimburse me. It went over 2 and half months total with multiple visits and service fees just to get back to where I started. Never mind they had my tenants with infants and elderly in a house with no or barely functioning central air in the middle of an Alabama summer. I was worried about getting sued and could not wait a moment longer. SAVE YOUR MONEY and AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST in my honest opinion.

    I will break this review down in stages from initiation to completion so that reviewers can skim through to an area they find most helpful. The call for help: We had a series of extraordinary events leading to the requirement to call for help, from HVAC issues to plumbing. So when you first get on the line with the customer service department, you have to navigate through a series of computer generated voice prompts to get to the appropriate department you need.

    Then you will have to wait on the line sometimes, due to the volume of calls received during the time of your call. Once you get past this, you'll finally get to a customer service agent that will listen to you. However, they all tend to read a scripted response, instead of listening with the intent to learn, then respond appropriately. Why so apologetic is the question that always looms in my mind over time I call. "I'm sorry to hear about that so & so issue that your experiencing, blah, blah, blah."

    Onward to the solution portion of the call for help: They will place you on a brief hold, and then return with the assigning of a technician, or company. They'll ask if you have any additional questions or issues that need to be addressed, and finally confirm the payment of the $75 co-pay to end the call. You'll have to be somewhat understanding in regards to the date/time of the assigned technician's arrival to your residence from anywhere between 24 hours to a couple of days depending on the number of previous customer's they have ahead of you in line.

    The assigned company's initial call, and assignment of the technician to come to your residence: You will usually get a call from the customer service agent associated with the company fixing the problem shortly after they have been assigned from American Home Shield to finalize when they will be able to come and complete the work intended. You'll also receive an e-mail, text to your mobile device or combination of both. Don't delete this important information. This is your confirmation of who is scheduled to come to your residence. In the event that they fail to reach out to you, you'll have this information so that you can get a hold of them. Just remember that in this digital age of things, some things indeed do fall apart including calls, and emails. If you don't hear from them, don't hesitate to reach out, as a rule of thumb, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

    When the company gives you a call for scheduling note that they are mostly friendly, professional, and attentive; they're also willing to work around your schedule if you need them to. When I state "mostly friendly", is the fact that they are human, and as with all of us, we all have bad days sometimes. This shouldn't reflect on how American Home Shield operates, nor that of each company which is an independently contracted company working with American Home Shield to help you resolve your day to day issues involving your home.

    The arrival of the technician to your residence: Prior to the technician arriving, in most cases they'll give you a courtesy call to confirm that you are home, and let you know that they are on the way. I have in some cases received a courtesy text message introducing the technician, with a photo, contact information, licensing information, as well as a chance to rate them with their company once the job was done. That is an awesome feature, and in my opinion should be included with every technician assigned to come to your residence; as these days it is sometimes hard to trust the folk that enter your home.

    When they arrive, they will first have to assess the problem to see what is the exact problem, then come up with an appropriate solution for repairs that have to be made. Technician may be able to fix the problem immediately, in a lot of cases this is true, and your heart-ache is relieved. Though sometimes they'll have to leave your home to go get parts, and schedule a return time/date (if needed) to complete the work.

    * With regards to scammers, and hood-winkers: It is best practice to have a printed copy of your contract so that you can reference it if the need arises. Some contractors will try to tell you that based on their assessment, you'll have to pay an out of pocket expense that isn't covered by your American Home Shield warranty; ranging from a couple of dollar's to upwards of thousands in some cases.

    The remedy is to: First know what your coverage contract states you are covered for *(address discrepancies in coverage before you have a problem), do not fearing telling the contractor that you want to request a second opinion through American Home Shield, not be in so much of a haste to fix the issue that you fail to research the solution *(knowledge opens the eyes of the blind), request to have discounts applied to the final bill as an American Home Shield customer, any manufacturer's rebates, and any online discounts that you can find to help reduce the overall cost; in the event that you have no choice but to pay an out-of-pocket expense. You can even see if it's possible to buy the part directly at a cost savings store to help you save even more, then ask the technician to install it if they're willing to go that route.

    Prior to them leaving: After the work has been completed: ask them to show you what was repaired, if parts were replaced, you would like to see/have the new packaging to verify that it was newly purchased, check the operation of the repaired item if possible to ensure correct operation with no issues such as leaks if water is involved.

    Finally finished: Once everything is complete, good or bad tell them about it. Write a review, call the company that fixed the issue, and write a review on American Home Shield, this venue, and/or The Better Business Bureau. Consumers need your voice to help them make educated decisions, help navigate through sophomoric insight, lateral issues that others have experienced, and the understanding that reporting bad workmanship might help the company through educating their tech's, relieving them of their duties, or in the worst case scenario lose their contract with American Home Shield.     My recent claim with AHS was great. It was the dishwasher. I submitted that claim online and the process was easy. Majestic Appliance Service came out and did a great job. This was the third time I used the contract I have. And the first time was great, the second time I had an issue because I have a garbage disposal that stopped working, and that was a really bad experience because the guy came and he said, "These stop working, they burn out. I'll be back in 24 hours or 48 hours with a replacement." But he never came back out.

    And then, when I contacted AHS, they told me that he had put in the report that it was due to a surge. Surges were uncovered so then, I paid out of pocket and I had another company come out and put another garbage disposal in its place. And I asked them, "Do you see any signs of a surge there?" And they were like, "No. These just die over time and this one's really old." So, it was just that person that put that in the report. And then, even when I called and I said, "Is there anyone else I can speak to? Is there anyone I can appeal to?" And they said no. So, I was like dead in the water with that one.

    Our house is older so I've been making a lot of claims at American Home Shield, so I'm very familiar with the system. I had an issue a couple of years ago with the dryer taking three weeks to get fixed. Recently, I had a claim which turned out to be two separate issues, and Rapp's Heating and AC was out the next day. The tech came in the timeframe that he said he was gonna be here, he fixed the issue and he was gone. He was very friendly and he cleaned up after himself. He also explained to me what was wrong.     I have a very large old house that's about 10 years of age and things go out every once in a while. I have a pool and I have two units for my air conditioner. I've used American Home Shield a number of times. I've never really been disappointed. I have recommended them too. I prefer to call them when I have a claim. Their reps are very helpful and brief which I appreciate.

    I called them for my 4-star unit air conditioner. The fan motor was bad. They sent me a message saying who the company was that was coming out. We're in Las Vegas so it's really hot and there is a lot of demand for air conditioning repair. The contractor AHS sent came out promptly. It was in about a day and a half. I used to be in refrigeration so I could kinda point the technician in the right direction. It was the fan motor upstairs. It was the one that blows through the heater. The technician went up there and found the part that he could change. He had it fixed and it was done. It was very quick and efficient. I'm very happy.

    American Home Shield has been very helpful but then their contractors are slow. I've had claims when everything goes smoothly. I prefer submitting claims online and usually, the transaction is pretty smooth from getting someone to call me to setting up the appointment. The issue is the process after that. Once it's in the contractor's hands, I'm left on my own.

    Before, I've had an electrician come who was very helpful and did more than he had to. Now however, I have two claims that are still open and it's been a couple of weeks already. I can't get anything resolved. I just found out that the contractor has 24 hours to make the order to American Home Shield. I called the contractor a week after the claim and they have not submitted the order. AHS then got involved, gave them a call and got the parts ordered. But then, the contractor came in with the part and told me that the part came in broken and needed to be reordered.

    I'm gonna call American Home Shield again today to find out if the part was actually ordered already for them to come back. With them, it's like I'm my own adjuster. When I call AHS, they get involved and make the call but then there's nobody else following up but me. Once the contractor is in place, I can't really call and say I don't like them and that AHS should get me somebody else. I have to go through the process. Once I get AHS on the phone and involved to help me, I'm happy with the service. If I was dealing with them directly without the company backing me up or giving them a call, I think it would be even harder for me to do it alone. It's the reason why I have this policy to begin with.

    The first gentleman who was supposed to come out here was from Diaz Brothers. He called me and asked me to give him the make, the model and the serial number on both the refrigerator and the dishwasher. He said that he was gonna see if he had the part for it. If not, he was gonna have to order it. But he never called me back. So I had to call him the next day. He said that he didn't have the part and that he was gonna have to order it. But after 10 days, I didn't get any response, not even a courtesy phone call to let me know he had ordered the part and whether it was gonna get here within a certain time.

    When I called back to the home warranty office to let them know that I haven't received anything from them, the representative told me that the part came in on a Wednesday. The contractor had also said that when he went to inspect the refrigerator and the dishwasher, he wasn't able to get the serial number. But he never came here. I had to give it to him and send him a picture of it. So that was one lie. The contractor also didn't call me until Monday and he told me that the part had barely arrived that Monday. That made two lies! So I didn't want him near my home at all. I called American Home Shield and said I didn't want anything to do with that company so they got me this other company.

    The technician from United Services of Arizona installed the icemaker and told us that it would take about 24 hours for it to start working. But after five days, I called back to let them know that it was not working at all. It did try to make some ice about three days ago. But I guess the whole thing was flooded inside and it just froze everything inside. There was no water coming in before that too. So it probably was not the icemaker but the line that sends the water to the icemaker.

    I called the warranty company to let them know. But the lady that I was talking with was gonna get the first contractor. I said I already requested I did not want them to come here. I wanted the same people that came out here the second time. I told her I didn't know how she was gonna do it but she had to fix this. But she was reluctant and I was getting upset because she did not wanna do everything I was telling her to do. We're the ones paying for the service and she was giving me a lot of hassle on that.

    I also talked to United Services of Arizona but they said they couldn't do anything. They said I would have to call American Home Shield for their technician to go back. They told me that they have something open on Friday and I said I would let American Home Shield know. But when I did, that lady was not very helpful. She said that she kept calling the office to set up an appointment but she couldn't reach them. She kept saying that they were closed. But I had reached them. Then she said she was gonna send an email so I waited three days but nothing happened. When I called back, I got somebody else and this gentleman helped me out a lot more quickly. He said there was nothing on Friday but he could get me in on Monday. I told him the sooner, the better, and I thanked him. So I had a mixture of both good and bad experiences with the representatives.

    I have a water heater tank and it has a lit flame. All the time, it was turning off. In the morning, when you want to take a shower, it’s not heating so you got cold water. It was completely broken. So, each time, I have to restart this lit flame. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and did it through the website. It was well organized, very precise and convenient. When you submit your application, you would immediately get a phone call from the contractors. That was the second time but the first time, I had a problem with the air conditioning and the same happened. So, I put in my application and the next day the contractor reached out. Those guys were really good. They came and immediately detected the issue, and they offered the resolution. Within two or three days, it was fixed. It’s working perfectly right now.     The AC wasn’t cooling, so we called American Home Shield. They sent out Total Air Services and they were horrible. They came out and changed the part. They left, but a week later, it was still not cool. So we called back and we had to wait another week for an appointment. So then they came out again. They changed something out, and this happened on three occasions. On the fourth time, they said that they called some man from Atlanta, and he was gonna fix the problem. The man from Atlanta went upstairs in the attic, and He was the first one that went there. When he touched the board, it flamed up. So then he said that they need to order a relay switch and a control board, and he left.

    We kept calling Total Air Services and they just said five more days. After a month, we called American Home Shield and they said they would send somebody out. RR Jones went up there and said that the whole system was busted and that there was nothing they could do. So American Home Shield said that RR Jones can buy the unit and install it. So they went that day, picked it up and installed it. But it only worked for one day and we called them back out. They came the same exact day and fixed it. And then the next day, at the same exact time, the same thing happened, so we called them back. They said that the outside unit was not working. Once they put the attic unit in, then the compressor burnt up on the outside unit.

    This claim has been going on since July 21st. My mother is 80-years-old and she has congestive heart failure. The only place she can take a bath is in the side of the house where the air-conditioner’s broke. RR Jones called American Home Shield and told them what the problem was. They also told them that the compressor needed to replaced and that they could get one right now. But American Home Shield said that they need to order it. They ordered it on Thursday. On Friday my husband called American Home Shield, and the lady said that the problem was the cost and that was why they won’t let the contractor get it. At this point, I don’t care about cost. I care about my mother’s health, and that we had been so patient since July 21st, and we still get nothing.

    I called American Home Shield today and we still don't know if the part is in yet. American Home Shield has been very nice and very accommodating up until this point. It’s red tape, and I understand. There’s rules you gotta follow, but I know they make exceptions to the rule. And we have waited a very long time and have been very patient. I’m happy with what American Home Shield has done, and I just signed another year contract with them. But I need them to be sensitive to my mother’s health needs. My husband is 74 and he has high blood pressure. He has an aneurysm in his heart. At some point, money needs to be thrown out the door. They need to call me and say that it’s gonna cost me $300 if I want RR Jones to go pick up the part, and I need to pay the difference. And I’m fine with that.

    We’ve had American Home Shield since we bought our house, which was almost exactly a year ago. We inherited the previous owner’s policy and then, we renewed it in June. My air conditioner seemed to be running loud and I submitted a claim online to AHS. It was pretty easy. The contractor came to my house and we turned the AC on. They tested it and they just said that everything looked fine. I asked why it was loud and they said that it was a cheap model. It was a few minutes but I appreciated that.

    I called the contractor first to give them a courtesy call that the air conditioner was not working, and then I called American Home Shield. I spoke to someone there, and they put the order back in. The rep took care of everything. She answered every question because it was my first time having something fixed, but didn't really get fixed. She told me she was gonna send something back to Air Link to let them know the issue wasn’t resolved. Then Air Link called me as soon as they got a chance to let me know they got the submission and my voicemail and was gonna take care.     I submitted a claim to American Home Shield on the phone and the rep I spoke with was helpful. The schedule overlapped a holiday then, so right after the holiday, the contractor came out. We thought the work they provided was fine. It’s just that we seem to have the same problem. The air now begins to seem like it’s not as strong as when they first put the coolant in. Usually what happens is, we turn it off because the weather changes so we don’t need it after a while. But we have the same recurring problem. We think that there’s a leak going on. We still have not resolved it so we’d have to call every year to get it activated.

    It’s really hard to communicate with AHS. They don’t understand me and I don’t understand them. Every time I’ve called in a claim and checked status on it, it was like I’m talking to people that have no idea what’s going on. And all that they did was read their notes and if the guy couldn’t understand what I was trying to tell him, he was gonna put down notes that he thought was right. They need people that knows what they’re talking about.

    When I had a claim and Walker Plumbing was assigned to me, they had the same problem whenever AHS would call them. Even the first air-condition people that I had working for me through American Home Shield, which was Best Air-Conditioning and Heating, dropped American Home Shield because they could not get across with the people there. They didn’t wanna work with them anymore. But everything got taken care of with respect to the thing that were working on for me. As for my last claim where Walker Plumbing came out, after the repair was done, everything works fine. The techs were excellent and they were on the job. They were also considerate and very professional. At the time, I had an air-conditioning problem and it was 110 outside. They were sweating and still, they were as nice as gold.

    Other than that, I was on the phone the other day with American Home Shield and I was on-hold for 55 minutes at one time. The whole thing lasted about an hour and 25 minutes. These people couldn't get anything together. I asked one woman that I was talking to if she could put somebody on there that understood me so I could understand her and she wouldn’t give me anybody. It was really bad and I’m about ready to drop them. Aside from that, when my pool filter sand needed to be changed and I tried submitting a claim with AHS, the guys that wanted to do it was gonna charge $400-some but AHS don’t cover that. I was gonna be charged that, so I cancelled the warranty.

    My most recent claim was with an electrical service contractor, Electrical Service Pros, and they're one of the only contractors that I've had a good experience with. The tech's name was Alonzo and they did a great job. But my experience with American Home Shield as a whole has been very bad. I've had contractors come to the house to tell me they have to charge me outside of American Home Shield for something then if it still doesn't work, they would come fix it. Then they tell American Home Shield that they don't work on whatever they were working on. So it's been extremely predatory. All in all, I would say that the warranty is a scam.

    Submitting the claim is a learning process as well because the system is built in such a way that if you don't report it, they're gonna charge you. That wasn't really clearly explained. The online process is somewhat straightforward except there's a lot of limitations on what you can and can't select. That's because they want you to put the claim in as two separate tickets so they can charge $75 twice. People should call the contractors themselves. It'll be cheaper.

    Some American Home Shield reps are very good. Some of them I can barely understand. Some usually don’t get what the problem is. It’s a mixed bag. When 1st American Plumbing came, there was nothing much to be done. All we needed to do was push a button. It was battery-operated, but I had no idea. No one ever told me about it when they installed the brand new water heater a couple of years ago, or it wasn’t in that even. It was just a fluke. It was a waste of time and money.

    The problem is that somebody comes out and says, “Okay, this needs to be fixed or replaced.” Home Shield finds about 15 different things that they don’t pay for. They’re only going to pay a fraction of. And the guy that comes out gives me a bid on a whole new, whatever, and it’s always overpriced. Now because this summer has been a hot one, I’ve had air conditioning problems two, three times out here, and every time I’ve been able to get things fixed just with a guy that I know at a significant discount from what the vendor from Home Shield sent out, was willing to do it for.

    Also, the cash out prices are absurdly low. They’re next to none. They're an insult. They’re laughable. So, getting a cash out really isn’t worth it unless you can get something completed for significantly less than what the worker comes out for that the Home Shield sends out. And I’ve had that work both ways. This last summer, I’ve had one where I went ahead and I took their work because it was about a break-even with the people that I knew. And the other one, I couldn't even take the cash because it wasn’t even near close. This is going to be the end of it. I’m not gonna renew. I’m sick of it.

    I’m very pleased with American Home Shield. It's a very good product to have. We bought our house back in spring and AHS came with it. We’ll probably renew when it comes time for that next year. AHS is very much worth it. It would’ve paid for itself in just the one call we had. Our ice maker wasn’t working and that took two different service visits. The contractor came out the first time and my ice maker was working intermittently. They replaced the unit but it didn’t work at all. The guys said it would take 24 to 48 hours for the unit to get cold and do all the things it needed to do. But the ice maker never made any ice.

    We called American Home Shield back and they opened another claim. The contractor came out and ordered a new part. It took three weeks for the new part to come. The first time, it took about two weeks for the part to come. My wife was there during the repair but I talked to the contractor on the phone. He was great. He gave good information about all things about the fridge and stuff to keep it in good shape. The ice maker has been great after the repair. We got a full bin of ice.

    We call and speak to someone at American Home Shield when we submit our claims. When Fast Response Heating and Cooling fixed the air conditioner, it went perfectly fine. We had a problem with PlumbRight though. They came over. They were supposed to fix the leak that we had under the bathroom that was going into the crawlspace, and also the one in the kitchen that was under the sink. The one in the kitchen was fixed properly, but the one in the bathroom was not. When I called another company to have a vapor shield under the house, they said the leak wasn't fixed. Now, there was a huge wet spot down there. We paid them for the service, so we need them to come back out and do it again. Therell has called twice and spoke with PlumbRight, and they're supposed to be calling me back but I haven't got a call again.

    I called AHS to file my claims and the reps I talked to were good. One of the claims was for my washing machine and I dealt with a vendor called 7-H. They came out and one of the techs forgot to connect the water hose. It flooded half of my house. All my carpets had been wet then they had to put holes in my sheetrock and ventilation. So, the tech had to turn it on to their insurance company. They finally came out, did a guesstimate, and they're gonna get back with us on fixing our home. They were the ones that checked the stove out as well and the tech said that it was the breaker. But when the rep from Kelley Brothers tech came, he said it wasn’t the breaker. That prolonged me another week for somebody to get here and when they came back out, they acknowledged that it is the breaker. But all in all, I've been waiting for almost a month to get the stove fixed and going out to eat can be very costly.

    As of right now, I got off the phone with Home Shield and they were telling me that my breaker box is covered. So, I've been trying to get a hold to Kelley Brothers. I called all three numbers and I can't even get on the answering machine to leave messages. It's just ringing, so I don't know what's going on. Other than that, the techs that came out were really knowledgeable and kinda knew what was going on. Still, I don't know what the screening process is for the vendors but these last couple of vendors that AHS sent out makes you scratch your head. I've been with AHS for a while and this the only time I had any problem.

    Thus far, I've had a great experience with American Home Shield. However, I had a problem with them recently. I have Pinch a Penny take care of my pool every week, scrub it, take care of the water and make sure it’s balanced. They also check for calcium which only forms when water has been in a pool and no rain or fresh water has been in there. Every once in a while, we pump out four inches of water when we don't get rain. That alleviates the calcium buildup. However, Pinch a Penny dropped American Home Shield since they were approached by district supervisors to make up excuses not to cover claims. Pinch a Penny used to sell AHS and it was very alarming for me to hear that. There are a couple of companies out there that have told me this as well.

    It's considered fraud to solicit a company to lie about something. That's how they get paid with less claims and if they could deny them. Even so, that’s not gonna give American Home Shield a good reputation. For my recent claim, they initially sent South Tampa Pool and Spa. I really got really hot with them on the phone as they were trying to deny the claim. I got through to a supervisor to have a second opinion and R1 Pool Service came out. They saw that the cell that was the subject of my claim was completely clean and it just failed just because it failed. The tech from R1 said that he doesn't know what Tampa Pool and Spa is talking about. There was no calcium buildup. He did all the tests and the pool was perfectly balanced. AHS covered my claim, put a new cell in and I was very happy.

    When we had something wrong with our AC, my daughter called American Home Shield and they set up an appointment. The person who came was very good. It was bloody hot and we were without AC for three days, so that was good. I'm 86 so when you're old, that's a little longer to be without the AC. However, last year we had a problem with AHS. We have an AC upstairs too which is still not working. The contractor came in and they said it was a $1,500 charge. It really shocked me a little bit.     Excellence Air was the contractor that American Home Shield sent out after I made a claim for my air conditioner. The contractor was great and I was impressed with everything.     This is the worst company to deal with! They have sent their 3rd party plumbing & air conditioning company come to our home to repair our central air conditioner NINE TIMES and it is still not working!! The company has replace; the switch, coils, compressor, Freon, connector, de-humidifier hose & the fan and one of the visits was to test the air coming from the unit!!

    Customer service refused to allow us to speak to a manager, placing us on hold for over an hour!! We used another phone and called their customer service again, finally connecting to a supervisor. Supervisor advised that he will send out yet another 3rd party company to conduct a full diagnostics on the unit to determine what is going on with the central air. So it seems we will be waiting again to have our central air conditioner replaced and/or repaired!

    Heat outside has been well over 90' with inside temperatures in the upper 80's (near 90' degrees!). We have a 3 and 4 year old and the heat inside is insane!! My wife is a real estate agent and refers home warranty companies to buyers all the time, because they are meant to protect homeowners in these situations. I must say after this experience with this company, this would be one of the worst companies to recommend to any new homeowner!!! This site forces you to select a star, zero stars wasn’t an option, nor would it began to express our frustration!

    It took me a month to get my air fixed in 100 degree plus weather. Customer service was a nightmare. I was treated rudely and when I asked for a supervisor or manager I was hung up on. I was hung up on at least once a day and I called every day for a month. Sometimes twice a day. I have written three letters and emailed Rex Tibbens. Below is my situation.

    I have written three letters to you and the corporate office. I have received no response which doesn't surprise me the way your staff responds to complaints. I had AHS a year ago and have since canceled. I have been waiting all this time for a response to my letters. Because of the issue below I am asking for either my money that I paid in or the money I paid for my Freon which was $780.

    I called AHS because my air wasn't working. The temps were 100 degrees outside so in the house it was more than that. This was on a Friday and they informed me someone would call me on Monday and they gave me the phone number to the contractor in case they didn't call. I waited Monday and received no call. I called the contractor first thing Tuesday and had to leave a message. I called again Tuesday afternoon and had to leave another message. Then I called first thing Wednesday morning and finally reached someone. I explained the situation and he said' "I don't know why AHS has my name because I don't even work with them." Now, I have been without air for 5 days and it is over 100 degrees in my house.

    I called AHS back and informed them the contractor is stating he doesn't work with AHS. So they set me up with another contractor AmeriServe. They finally came out and told me I needed a new compressor. He said they had to call AHS so they can order the part. Once the part comes in AHS will send it to them and they will put it in. I called AHS to see how long it would take to get the part and they told me two days. So now it is two weeks with no air. I have a sick grandbaby and a dog. This is no different than leaving your dog in a hot car. It was just as hot.

    I waited two days and no part. I called AHS every day to see where my part was. When I called I was either hung up on or treated like crap. The times I asked for a manager I was hung up on. This went on for a month. A MONTH WITH NO AIR! I advised AHS that I had a sick baby and a dog and I was told that wasn't their problem. ARE YOU ** SERIOUS! It would have been a big problem for AHS if she would have died from the heat. I would have been getting more than $780.00. I cannot believe a company can operate like this. My husband is a home builder and he is always asked about home warranties. Well, unless AHS makes this right he will not give any referrals to AHS.

    I have not contacted an attorney yet but if AHS doesn't make this right that is next on my list. I will post on social media, contact the news station, call an attorney, and contact the BBB. I expect as a business you want customers and want a good reputation. I would like AHS to make it right before they are forced to make it right. I am so angry! I have been ignored as I have sent several letters and no response! All as I can say is I hope you will make it right and I receive a response.

    Oh I received a response not even from Rex Tibbens but, from some Amanda chick who refused to give me my money back which is BS after everything I went through. They don't give a crap about their customers. I will make sure all my husband's homebuilders know not to sign up with AHS. They are a nightmare and don't care. If I were you I would run from this company. Rex can't even respond to the customer. Then they have the nerve to send me crap in the mail and on my email to sign up again. I would NEVER sign up again.

    The door springs in the garage door literally broke at once, and I saw afterwards that they were rusty. Surprisingly, one door apparently put a lot of load on the other one and the other one broke, too. The garage door was down, so in the morning when I went to open it, I couldn’t open the door. The car got stuck there and I was in a desperate situation.

    I put a request at American Home Shield, and I have to give them a huge credit. Compared to before, when you called their number for any reason, it took an hour for people to answer. These days it goes so quickly, which is impressive and I really appreciate it. That’s an amazing initial step. Also, their request form is really good the way that it is, though I would add a free note type of section for when I submit a request for service, so I can fill in some notes that this is what I would like. Otherwise, everything is great. AHS has always been really good, but on this part, it’s unbelievably important and improved dramatically.

    Another thing that is really good with American Home Shield that’s never been before is that when you're scheduled with the contractor who is coming for repair, you’re getting an e-mail and then if you click on the link, it tells you what the next step is and when the schedule is. When the repairman is on the way to your house, they give you an indication when he will be arriving and it shows on the map the route that he’s taking to come to your house, which in my opinion is really good. That's a really good improvement. The repair man that came to our house was outstanding. He was so good at his job. Within 15 minutes, he was done with everything, cleaned up the whole thing and then he left. Very professional, great service. American Home Shield surpassed what they should do.

    The pipes were leaking in the pool pump area and when I called AHS, they told me that there would be somebody coming out. The contractor didn’t call me back, so I had to call AHS back. Right there and then, when I was on the phone with them, they called and said, “Someone’s gonna give you a call in a few minutes.” We hung up and then the contractor called me. They said they’d be here, and they came and fixed the problem. The contractor that came in knew what he was doing, told me what was wrong with it, told me what he was gonna do and took care of it.     The fan motor burned up on our AC. I was very impressed with Cutting Edge Total Comfort. It was quite warm at the time. The unit that we have is a Trane unit and the parts are not that easily accessible. This happened to be a two-speed fan that needed to be replaced, and they replaced it with a one-speed fan just for two days in order to get the two-speed fan. I thought that was awfully nice because they could have easily said that, "We can't fix it. You'll have to wait for the two days or three days or whatever it'll cost the other one to come in." Their work was very professional, and I was very happy with it.

    To submit the claim, we called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative. The AC was out and we had just returned from vacation. So, the service was timely, and it was necessary to do it to expedite it as quickly as possible. Our experience was good. I haven't had many claims, and I'm glad I haven't, but that was done very professionally. I appreciate them doing the extra mile, so that we could have some AC upstairs. I was very pleased with them.

    I submitted a claim to AHS for my central air conditioning unit that wasn't blowing out cold air. Doing that online was pretty easy. There's a follow-up email that says the contractor has been assigned. It gives you a name and telephone number. That email is set to expire however and it disappears. Thereafter, finding that number if I ever need to is a little difficult. When the contractor for the AC came, he found that there are a lot of problems with it. The compressor went and the coil went too. AHS is gonna replace the whole unit now. The new one has been ordered but we've been waiting close to a month for it. It's been a little uncomfortable in our home. Still, the reps whom I've spoken to have been very nice. I've had a very positive experience with AHS.

    I called American Home Shield three or four times for the same leakage issue at my rental property. Each time, somebody would start talking to me and the line would go off. They never call back and I just kept calling and calling. Initially, the two people I spoke to kept going back and forth. They didn't actually say what the issue was. They didn't diagnose and they were not patient enough to look and see. There was the AC tech, and then there was a plumber from JED. The first guy came because my issue was supposedly an AC problem. But then, the AC guy said it was a plumbing problem.

    Luckily, the last lady AHS rep I spoke to was very thorough. She went through the records and read everything. She said we would try a new company, YES Mechanical, instead of JED and the other company. She was very patient on the phone. The YES technician said that the leakage was in the main pipe that linked all of the condos from the third floor down to the ground level where my condo is. They said that the HOA should get a plumber to unclog that main pipe because it was a pipe that linked the whole building. Nevertheless, all of the techs that AHS sent were very polite and good in their own way. I was very happy with the YES technician because finally, we knew what was wrong and the problem was solved. The leakage issue stopped when the HOA plumber came.

    The YES technician didn't charge anything because the AC was working and the issue with that was only because the tenants don't know how to adjust it. He put it on for them. Each time I have an AC problem, YES is my preferred contractor. Their rep was very communicative. He sent me an email and spoke with me. Despite the initial issues, I still recommend AHS.

    The AC stopped working, so I called up American Home Shield and made a claim. So, they sent an AC guy out and he said that it was an electrical issue and not our AC. But it was like he wanted to hurry up and get over the phone to the next person that he was seeing. But I understood him. He was a little bit above his head. But I was really tense at that point. When I called American Home Shield to schedule the electrical guy to come out, the lady felt my tension that I had in my voice. She told me to sit by my phone, and that there would be somebody calling me and set up an appointment to meet me.

    I took the whole day off and I waited for someone to call me. But nobody called me that Thursday until Friday at 8 o’clock in the morning. As soon as it turned 8:00, I called American Home Shield. And the lady said that they contracted out to this person to call me and they have 24 hours to call me. I told her that that would have been something nice for me to know about yesterday because I would have asked for those information. It's irritating because she should have given me the contractor's number so I could call them and see if I could get a better and quicker resolution. I would have probably see if I could get somebody there that Friday because I have a mom that has asthma and I have a little AC unit, but she was only stuck in that room.

    I called the contractor and they told me that they wouldn't get out here until next Tuesday. I explained to them my situation and they said they would be here on Saturday. They scheduled from 12:00 to 4:00, and they came over at 8:00 in the morning. So, that made it so much better because I had to send my mom to a friend’s house that one night. The tech was wonderful. He got my AC up and running again, which was great. This guy had nothing but great things to do. It was just an inconvenience on my side, but everybody else did their job.

    The contractor provided excellent service when they re-keyed all my locks and they’re all to the same key. I had to pay extra for some extra locks, so I paid ahead and did 12 locks. It was awesome service and the technician was really good. He even went beyond what he was supposed to do to make sure all the deadbolts had the holes he put on. He said that he would make everything secured as he could like it was his home and he definitely did that. Everything went really good with that one and when I was calling it in, it went smoothly. In our last house, the warranty company didn’t have that re-key service. So, I was really excited about being offered that because I didn’t even know they have that stuff till we got this warranty.     Hall's Plumbing, the contractor, told me that my furnace down the basement had been sitting in water for such a long time, and I did not know that it was. So, I need a new water heater. They indicated that they need to come back out and bring me a new water heater in. The technician who first came out, however, was supposed to order a part to redo the upstairs air conditioner, and he never came back and called back. Nevertheless, my recent claim with American Home Shield went good.

    Our most recent claim with American Home Shield where Twin Rivers Heating and Air Conditioning came out was excellent. I would highly recommend them. Tony is very professional. When I submit my claims with AHS, I speak to a representative. Their system is not online-friendly for me. For some reason, I’m having issues with getting them to get mine set up. Every time I call, I get an international person. AHS doesn’t do that and they say, “Well, I’m gonna send you to tech support.” They send me to tech support and it’s an international person back again, and I can’t get it set up online for me, so I have no other choice but to call them. If you ask for an agent in the United States, they should be able to get one. The agents' language is good, but when it comes down to extra communication, they don’t have that communication skills. And I don’t have their language skills, so that’s a problem.

    I made a claim to American Home Shield over the phone, and their reps were very helpful. On the initial call, the contractor came out within three days. Then with the first time not being resolved, they had to come back again weeks later, and that one responded within about three days from our contact. They had to order a new unit for outside and the whole coil unit on the inside. They came a week and a half after that visit, and then, it was resolved because they replaced everything they had to replace. Everything is working great.

    Making a request for service online with American Home Shield was easy to do and the contractor from Precision Doors, Jason, arrived on time. He looked at my garage door and told me that the rail was bent. I got a phone call from American Home Shield and they told me that it wasn’t covered under the warranty, so he gave me some choices as to how I could have it repaired and different levels of service. I chose to have the rail repaired and he greased up the chain and changed out the little wheels that run through it when it gets lifted. It was a good experience.

    I am a realtor, American home shield came to my old company every month to promote how good they are and I believed them. Even after I moved to another company, I still recommended american home shield to my buyers and have them for my new home as well. Our AC stopped working today, we called AHS, they told us they do not send contractors on weekends... On a day it is 110 F outside and rising swiftly inside to unbearable conditions, we must wait until 3-6 pm Monday- three full days from now for the AC company to evaluate the problem. It could be days after for the repair to be made.

    After reading the entire contract, there is no mention of a blackout of service on weekends. What the contract does state is 'loss of cooling...is an emergency as defined by the Nevada Revised Statutes...service will commence not later than 24 hrs after the report of the claim.' After years of referring AHS, I will never recommend American Home Shield to any clients in the future.

    Microwave molding cracked and handle loose. Microwave 10+years old. American Home Shield sent repairman to evaluate, his conclusion was it was caused by excessive force. Claimed denied. "Not normal wear and tear" due to excessive force. I asked AHS to explain what was excessive force on a microwave installed above the oven. They couldn't answer so sent out another company. I made a huge error in judgement, when second person came I stated "the previous company denied the claim for excessive force" could you explain to me or show me what that would be? He wouldn't answer and put report in quoting the info I gave him. Once again denied. After a very long conversation they agreed to send out another company.

    The microwave could have been replaced for the cost of all the evaluations. The third repair person sent a different report, stating that the damage was caused from the heat from the burners below which cracked the molding and made handle loose. Claim was denied once again this time was because it wasn't normal wear and tear. The microwave and oven were installed over 10 years ago and we bought this house with it as it was. I asked AHS if we were not suppose to use the burners on the stove! They won because I was afraid. Because the door was loose this could be a health hazard to my family and replaced the microwave....

    Warranty basically covers nothing. There is always something in fine print that says it won't be covered. Had this warranty for over a year and called for service 3 times, none of which were covered. After you cancel, doesn't matter how long you've been with them, they tack on a big cancellation fee no matter what. STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD and FIND A REAL HOME WARRANTY COMPANY!

    I haven't missed a single payment since I started with AHS. My refrigerator stopped cooling without warning so I immediately contact AHS. I'm initially told by AHS rep it will be 6 to 10 days before someone will come out to look. I tell the rep that is unacceptable. They defer to their dispatch team to get someone to come out the next day. That company never called me to schedule appointment. So I called them and they tell me, "Oh we won't be able to come out sometime next week."

    If I do the math the money I pay monthly to AHS could have purchased a new refrigerator. This service from my perspective is a waste of money and really useless. On top of that I had to pay $100 in addition to my monthly payment and I still can't get someone to even call me to set up an appointment to look at the unit. So I now have to miss multiple days of work, pay monthly payment in addition a service charge and what do I receive in return? Absolutely nothing! I must admit they have a great business model if you're into scamming people out of their money.

    We live in TX. We are going one month without AC. We have degrees of 103 and higher, inside it's 92-96. I have medical conditions. We have been lied to every day that we call, and messages on Messenger. They delivered a part to Colorado that said it was ours, it is not. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was denied, have recordings of a call that will make you scratch your head. We have been a loyal customer for 20 years. No one can help us. This company deserves to be shut down. I have been sick to my stomach and major headaches. This is so wrong that they would treat people like this. Every phone call that we make, they say something different. So frustrating.

    First tech was on the phone 3 plus hours getting instructions on how to rewire around a short. No short was ever determined. I told him I want the shorted component replaced, if there was one, not wired out of the system so he removed all the 5 or more extra wires he put in to circumvent the problem. Let me backtrack a bit. My ac system only blew warm air and I noticed the condenser outside was not functional. That was the nature of my service call. When tech arrived first words were, “Have you paid for the service call?” Of course I did that is why you are here. He checked the heater and it functioned well. He checked the ac and only the inside blower came on and the outside condenser still not functional.

    He then stated, “It’s probably low on refrigerant and we charge $95.00 a pound and American Home Shield will only pay for $10.00 a pound so you are responsible for paying me $85.00 a pound and it could take up to 6 or more pounds of refrigerant.” Are you willing to pay me for that today before I continue? I said, “If you can get the condenser outside working I have no problem paying for the amount that is missing.” He never checked if any was missing. So he spent a little time looking at everything then made a phone call. He spent 3 hours and 20 minutes at my house and most of it was talking to someone getting instructions on what to do next. He was here two hours before he checked the condenser fuse box to see if the fuses were blown. Probably the first thing that should have been checked. Finally after three hours he said, “I think I got it”. So I looked over his shoulder and asked why all those extra wires.

    He said he was re-wiring around the problem. I asked why not replace the bad component? He stated that, "This is how we do it." I said it looks Jerry rigged. He said if I didn’t like it he would put everything back the way it was. I said I don’t so he started angrily yanking the added wires out and told me he will be done in 10 minutes. He then picked up his tools and said he would be back in with the paperwork to sign. I then checked the unit and discovered the heater no longer worked and the fan motor would not shut off. Upon returning with the paperwork I asked him to fix the things he broke, heater and fan. So he unplugged the unit and said it’s broken. Get the next technician to fix it. He insisted on me signing a statement saying that the previous technician broke the unit. I said there were no other technicians near this unit. He seemed irritated that I wouldn’t sign. Made a phone call and left. I relayed all this information to American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield then contacted another company to fix my unit. The new technician, after 15 minutes or so said he could not figure out the mess the previous technician made. He then said the unit is old and should be replaced. I said, “That’s something you have to clear with American Home Shield.” Twenty four hours later, plus or minus an hour, American Home Shield contacted me and said it’s been approved but there are some materials they won’t pay for which adds up to $2,900.00. I asked if I could get a second opinion and the answer was No. I guess, somewhere in the contract it states that American Home Shield does not pay for everything. Customer pays for refrigerant, any wires, piping copper or pvc, any vents or adapters needed. You are subject to whatever the contractor wants to charge you. For example, $385.00 for copper piping.

    The copper is already there. They only need to add a couple of feet because the new unit is smaller. So today is Friday and when I called American Home Shield to complain about the prices and that now my heater does not work. They said they will not change the prices. Instead the first technician will be sent back out to correct their mistakes. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told I would get the same answer from them. I asked to speak to a supervisor anyway and was told, “I will give them the message and maybe they will call you next Wednesday, no guarantee that they will though. I will still put you on the schedule for the first technician.”

    So what I would get for $3,000.00 is a new unit inside my house that supplies heat and cool air. What I will not get is new ducts that run the air room to room. I won’t get new room vents. The condenser that’s outside won’t be replaced and will still be using the refrigerant that’s being outlawed in the U.S. in the year 2020 and the refrigerant that’s in my old unit is the same but I’m told it’s old and can’t be used on a new system even though they are putting the same refrigerant back in but with an adapter that I have to pay $285.00 for and charging $616.00 for the same refrigerant but fresher. I will not get a new thermostat either.

    So wouldn’t it be better to just cancel the warranty plan. Ask for all the money I have spent each month for an incomplete warranty and add $3,000.00 to the already $3000.00 that they want me to pay and get a whole new unit, top to bottom?? By-the-way, today, when I told American Home Shield that I did not want the first contractor to come back and fix their mistakes, broken heater and blower, they said they would send them out anyway. I guess American Home Shield will do what they want and customers have to live with it. I guess they don’t know me.

    I had to give it a star to share my horrible experience. But, it deserves no star because customer service is horrible and service people are incompetent!!! I placed my initial service call for my washer/dryer back in March. We are now a couple days shy of entering the month of September, so almost 6-months later, 8 or 9 service visits from 4 different service technicians, and several calls (including speaking with a couple of supervisors) my washer has been completely out for about 2 months. And dryer is still not completely drying. Finally, a technician with some sense came out and recommended for a replacement because the repair/replacement of the part that is needed would be more costly than a repair.

    I’ve been given nothing but the runaround from AHS regarding the replacement. I confirmed with a representative earlier this week that the technician report had come in and I would get a call back from the department authorized to move forward with the replacement. After a few days with not hearing back from AHS, I follow up this evening to be told that now they have not received the report. (I actually confirmed with the technician the report was already submitted.) DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - trust all negative reviewers, I didn’t and now I’m one!!!! HORRIBLE!!!

    The ice maker broke, and I had a water leak. American Home Shield sent out a guy from Whirlpool. The tech went right to work and he figured out what the problem was. I took his information and he left. He said he would be back after to get the parts. Whirlpool was back within the week and fixed the problem. Everything has been working fine.     The refrigerator started making noise when the icemaker was making cubes and it was making shaved ice instead. Everything was coming out really crushed. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and their reps were great. I had called a few times, and they’ve always been very efficient. The contractor that they sent out fixed the refrigerator and it is now working fine, and I’m very happy with them. Apparently, when the icemaker got emptied out and I put it back in, there were some solenoid that gets stuck if you don’t put it in quite right.     I had an issue with my air conditioning unit and AHS told me that they weren't gonna cover it. They said that it’s a pre-existing condition. But I was paying my money and when it come down to this, they didn't do anything that they said they were gonna get done.     When the AC wasn't working, the gentleman that was sent out arrived here within the scheduled time. He was very nice. He explained what was wrong, and he fixed the issue. He had to change something in the unit, so the fan could start revolving again. He showed me what he changed. And then he gave me my receipt and left. I've called American Home Shield a couple of times for different reasons. But sometimes, they make you wait for the technician to come out.

    My water heater has been broken a number of times, and I’ve been telling American Home Shield that it is an old unit, so instead of repairing, they could just change it. But they send somebody, and then they would fix it, and again, I have to call. So, the other day, it was flooding, and there were mold issues. So, I ended up paying more. I’m expecting somebody tomorrow again to check the water heater. How many times do I have to call in a technician before they change the unit knowing it’s old? It’s frustrating sometimes. I don’t always call them. I do little fixes on my own. But then I’m paying American Home Shield for the bigger things. Sometimes, I don’t even call them. I just bring in my own people to fix my things because I know American Home Shield's contractor won't come immediately and I have to save water. I’ve been talking to a few friends to see if I can switch to another home warranty company that has a quicker and better service.

    I had a recent claim with American Home Shield and everything went fine with Grady's Air Conditioning & Heating Services. It was a very quick service. The technician knew what he was doing and was in and out in 30 minutes. So, everything went pretty smoothly. I did the claim online which was very easy to do.

    I called American Home Shield for the washing machine and oven. I couldn’t get the light bulbs to work in the oven, and they had to be special ordered. And then for the washing machine, it would always bring up some codes and it wouldn’t complete the cycle when you turn the dial to clean washer. That never got resolved because when the tech tried it, the code didn’t come up. But overall, the contractors were very thorough. I would highly recommend American Home Shield. But the overall service charge of $100 that American Shield takes out is a little extreme.

    The AC claim that I recently had with American Home Shield went very well. I was very, very pleased with the individual who came. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past, but this person was extremely professional and extremely courteous. I have two AC units and the one I complained about was shot. But the tech always took it upon himself to also check the other unit, and it was also going. So he replaced the condenser in both units. If I ever had another problem, I would request him and his company in a heartbeat.

    With the bad experiences that I had, a lot of the technicians didn't speak English. It seems a lot of the technicians now are from Russia. So there’s definitely language barriers. It’s also a cultural thing, where there's a lack of respect. We have booties at the door. And my wife's point is either you put the booties on or you’re gonna wash my floors. That’s the two options. And some of the other people we had in the house were indignant to do that, and then, they would go outside with the booties on. It just defeats the whole purpose.

    In the past, if they didn't seem to have a fix for it, they would leave, and it still wouldn’t be operating properly. So, it was multiple calls. It’s refreshing when you bring in one person and identifies the problem. The recent AC guy took it apart himself to look at the other unit that they didn't think was working properly, and he fixed that one too because it would've been probably another month or so, and I would’ve been making another service call, so that was extremely helpful. Everything right now is working. So far, so good.

    We noticed we had water coming in through the garage right from underneath. Our laundry room's wall is adjoining to the garage, so we went into the laundry room, and saw the faucet itself was leaking. So, we turned the water off right away, dried up what we could, and then put in a ticket. In the past, it took a couple days to have someone reach back out, which, if it was the dishwasher, I wouldn’t have been as worried about it. But given it was a leaking water to the washer, I wanted to get that addressed quickly.

    When we put the ticket in to American Home Shield, it told us who it was going to go to. We also followed up with a phone call directly to the plumber here locally to expedite that process a little bit. Then the contractor was out in a day or two after that. He was very professional and kind, and he was good to answer all my questions. He also said that if we had any other follow-up problems, we can reach out. So, it went well. All the contractors that had been sent out had been good and always very welcoming for a direct follow-up if needed.

    We had someone come out to look at our AC unit that was leaking and my boyfriend said that the guy was really nice. He filled him in on everything that was going on and why it was happening, so it was good.

    The oven I had ran the self-clean mode, and it stopped working after that. And so, the door was locked and couldn't open, and none of the buttons worked. I did the claim online and I expected to hear from American Home Shield within 24 hours to make an appointment, and they called. They were very responsive and answered any questions I had. Science Appliance came out, pulled the oven and repaired it for me. The oven is working now and it's perfect. Now I can cook in my oven.

    Every time I switch off the air conditioner, the fan was not switching off. It would remain on. When I submitted a claim to AHS for it, it went well. Their interface was pretty straightforward. It was easy to choose and schedule that. I got a call back from them the next day to schedule the time, and it was seamless. The guy came on time. He was good and very good to talk to as well. And he explained what he was gonna do, and then after, that was when he found the issue. He explained to me what the issue was and had to fix it immediately. Since then, no issues at all. I told him I'll observe it for a few days and call him if any issues come up, but it's been good.

    I will recommend American Home Shield. I filed a claim for the AC and everything went fine. I just had to wait two weeks before they found a motor. What happened was that a motor on my air conditioning unit went out. I called American Home Shield on a Monday and that Wednesday, they sent someone out from Legum’s Heating & Cooling. The technician, John, was very awesome. He came, found the problem and told me everything that was going on.

    They told me that they will have a motor back on Thursday and they will put it in on Friday. But if they didn’t come in, then I will have to wait until the following Monday because they weren’t open on the weekend. I called back on Monday and the part came in on Tuesday so John came and put it in on the following Tuesday. It was burning up that weekend too. The temperature was really high. It was terrible. But John came back and fixed the AC, and it's been working ever since, thank God.
