    American Home Shield is wonderful. We called them and said we have electrical outage due to a storm, and they weren’t sure that it was gonna be covered. Because my husband is disabled, an urgent was put through and Copher’s Quality Homes’ electrician came the next day. The electrician was gonna come the following week, but when we said, “Jeez, my husband is disabled, he has a heart condition, we have no electric, the heat, he's having a hard time,” they came the next day. That was good. And then, the tech said he put it through AHS, but they denied the claim because they said it was storm damage. So, we had to go through our own insurance company.

    The gentleman that works for Copher’s is a contractor on the side. He said if we hired him, he would be able to take care of us, which we did. We paid $1,000 deductible to Copher’s and he came out. He’s also an electrician so he did our box on top of our home. Somebody called today that wanted us to switch over to another type of outfit. We said we're switching from American Home Shield.

    I had a leaking pipe. I went online to file a claim with AHS and it was easier than doing it over the phone because if you try to call, you can’t ever get through. And when you do call, they can’t even help you, so you have to do it online. As soon as AHS assigned my claim to Patriot Plumbing & Heating, I called them and they came that afternoon. The repair went great.

    It was super easy to submit an online claim with American Home Shield for my washing machine. They sent out Sears and they were on time and professional.     The only issue I have with American Home Shield is that if you call American Home Shield to schedule an appointment on the phone to report an issue and get the service, it takes you forever to speak to a representative. I have hung on the phone for as long as an hour. I know now never to call at the beginning of the week. I don't have the time to come and hang on the phone and the only reason why I called was because there was something I couldn't do online. I wish they would allow us online to speak to a representative. You can only submit a claim, or not submit a claim and call. If I have an issue where I couldn't submit it online, I would like to speak to a representative to communicate through messaging and you couldn't. So, that's something that they can make on their website.

    I made a claim to American Home Shield on the internet and they immediately gave me Passion Plumbing but I didn't want them. I wanted Anchor, so I had to call and cancel that one and reinstate it. The girl did it over the phone. Anchor has done everything they can but the refrigerator is not getting cold enough, the ice maker is still not working and the freezer is not freezing the food. It's an older unit and I don't feel like Anchor is the issue.

    There was a capacitor that was burned out on our AC unit. And there's a switch that controls how much refrigerant goes from the condenser to the inside unit, and that switch needed to be adjusted because there wasn't enough cooling going to the unit inside the house. AHS sent out Total Air Care to us and my girlfriend and I set everything up together. She was there at the house when the tech came out and she said that the guy was really nice. He fixed everything quickly and it was smooth. And we were lucky that the AC didn't need any refrigerant because that's where the money is needed. American Home Shield only pays for the first $10 worth, but that's because the price of it went up. All in all, everything went well and so far, AHS has been great. We've also been able to set the AC where we would normally put it to leave the house. Eventually, we're gonna have to replace it but for now, it's good.

    We filed three claims online on the same day, one of which was for our GE Profile gas burner stove and GE Profile side-by-side refrigerator. The guy from Authorized Services said that it wasn’t the compressor, which was what we thought it was, and that it was just the controllers. So, we had to order one simple part and they were able to get that in the same day. They were able to fix it very quickly. Even if I had to pay out-of-pocket, without American Home Shield, I could go to Authorized Services.

    We also had an electrical issue and it was just the ground-fault circuit interrupter on the exterior of the house. The contractor came in, tested it, and said, “I have to replace it, and we’re done. So, have a nice day.” Again, he was really quick and very thorough. Among the three claims, the plumbing issue is still problematic, but it is being addressed today. American Home Shield is worth my money. I paid my $75 deductible, and they took care of all the work. We were able to work out access to the house and everything, so it has been very convenient for someone who lives 2,000 miles away.

    I was very pleased with the company AHS sent out. Our experience with the company went very well. The contractor was great. He came in. He was very informative and he did work very hard until the problem was solved. I was very content with the job that they performed. It was very easy to submit a claim to AHS online as well. I was surprised at how efficient it was ‘cause I kinda worried as I was doing it, I thought, “Oh, my goodness. This might not even work.” Lo and behold, it did work. I’m kind of old school and I would rather do these things in person, but I know it’s impossible. I get leery when I have to do something online. I was very pleased that it worked so efficiently.     I had a microwave issue and American Home Shield sent Sears out. The guy was wonderful. He looked at the microwave and said it was so old. He realized he couldn't even find the repair parts for the microwave and he recommended a replacement for it. American Home Shield took about a week and a half to get back and say that they needed to replace it. It was a little annoying to not have the microwave fixed then they came back and said I had a choice of this, this or this for the replacement. And if I wanted to chip in some money, I could get something a little bit nicer. That was what I did.

    The guys who came to install the new microwave were awesome. It was a father-and-son team. They called ahead of time and knocked on the door. They looked at everything. I told them we needed to take the old microwave out and they very quickly and quietly did that. They didn't make a mess. They were also able to use the box of the new microwave to put the old one in so everything was neat and put together. I had measured ahead of time to make sure everything was gonna fit and everything did. It was fine.

    When I put the claim in with American Home Shield, it takes a couple of days for them to actually send a guy out. We were three days with no microwave when the Sears guy came. Also, after taking almost two weeks to get back to me about the replacement, there was the scheduling after that. I would love if American Home Shield could find a way to speed that up especially for certain appliances. For someone with limited cooking skills like myself, it was a very bad week of eating lots of cereal.

    When we had an issue with a bearing in the washer, I called AHS and they sent somebody out to inspect it. It was quick. It happened at the end of the week, and then, the contractor was here Tuesday the next week. They were very professional. They took care of information and determined at that point what the factor was. They told me everything I needed to know and needed to do. The tech also told me what wasn’t broken and that I didn't have to worry about it. One claim was for the dryer, one was the washer. The tech told me that the issue with the dryer is pretty common and that there was really nothing you can do about it, which is fine. We can use it the way it was. On the washer though, AHS awarded $630 for it but the new one cost me $1000. I haven’t been paid back. But our dryer now works fine just like it was before and we ended up getting a new washer, so it’s working fabulous.

    I like how quick and easy it is with American Home Shield. It's not like a long process. I've been with them for about a year. When I was having issues with my toilet, I called them and their rep was really good and straight to the point. The contractor was good too and we used them before. They're from Abilene and we're from San Angelo. That's like an hour and a half drive, and they were pretty quick. They were really knowledgeable and they let you know what's going on. They would bring you in, discuss it with you, walk you through the process and ask you questions about how you would wanna continue. Everything's good.

    American Home Shield's claim process online was okay. The air conditioner was leaking and it took two days for the contractor to come out once the claim was submitted. He was good and communicated wonderfully. The repair was done the same day. So far, so good. However, we are actually dealing with another situation with American Home Shield. It's just always different with them and I don't know if it's their rules or what it is, but when replacing an item, they don’t always cover the cost of the actual replacement. They'll say, “We’ll pay up to $60 to replace this part” even if some part was $200 and we can't buy another one for under 150.

    Everything was good with American Home Shield. I originally filed a claim online and it was easy. It was hard to explain what was going on though. It gave options but not what was going on with my air conditioner. It was close though. I called and they said the motor was going out but it would have to go out before they can replace it. And when it went out they replaced it. So after the second time, it didn't take any time at all. They came out and replaced it immediately. They did a really good job and were very professional.

    Our AC at my rental place wasn’t blowing enough cold air. About a week ago, I called American Home Shield and they apparently serviced it. They said everything looked pretty good including the gas. But my tenant said it seemed like the AC was still not blowing out enough air like it used to. The repair didn't seem to help. I called American Home Shield again to recheck it. A day before I called, I had someone inspect my house because I’m selling it. They told me that there was a differential in degrees with the AC so that was another reason I called AHS again. I was just following up.

    On both times I called American Home Shield, their reps were great. For the contractors, my tenant told me the first time the contractor that went there was very polite. They took their time and they answered questions. Everything was good. But for the second time, it was a different person who came and my tenant told me the contractor was rude.

    I thought the little drainage tube just gotten out of the pan because I noticed it had leaked because we had a baseboard that was warping. I got down to look at it and then, I realized there was water on the floor. So, we went ahead and called American Home Shield to have someone come out and look at it. The claims process went very well. It was filed on a Friday before Labor Day and I was afraid they wouldn’t be able to get to it till Tuesday, and they came on Friday and got it done. So, I really appreciated them getting right on it because it was hot.

    When the contractor got here, the door to our AC unit was locked. Unbeknownst to us, there’s a lock inside the door and I think my two-year-old grandson had locked that door and shut it. We couldn’t get it open. I thought the contractor can get it open but he couldn’t. He tried to take the hinges off but it won’t come off unless the door is open, and he couldn’t get to it from underneath. He went outside to the drainage, where the water drains out and was able to blow something up into the drainage pipe and it unstopped the leaking. And so, it resolved the issue without having to get in there. He was able to take care of it and it wasn’t anything technical involved.

    I did appreciate him finding a way to fix the leak in spite of the issue with the door. I was very thankful that he could do that and he was very good-natured about it all. I’m gonna call a locksmith and see if he can figure out a way to get the door open. So, I would probably be having a claim to have a locksmith come in and look at some locks.

    Overall, I would recommend AHS. One thing I do like about having AHS is that when something does go wrong, all I have to do is send an email and it gets taken care of. I don’t have to figure out who to contact or what to do. And for me, that is part of what makes it worth the price. It’s that peace of mind that makes things simpler. And I’ve been pleased with everybody we’ve ever had.

    Leisure Time Water came out a couple of times. They came out once on the pool heater not working, but they deemed that one to be okay. But we later found out the pool heater wasn’t functioning properly at all. In fact, it was beyond repair, and American Home Shield had to replace the water heater. I did the claim online, and it was easy navigating through their website. You just go and you put the claim in and then they set up an appointment. They send the person out. And Leisure Time is the contractor they use for this particular area. Their service was good. And they lived up to their word and made sure everything was done according to what was supposed to be done and according to spec. My experience was good, they met the expectations, and I have no complaints at this point.

    Updated on 09/04/2019: I attempted to request service using the on-line application. One request was for my garbage disposal. The other request was for my spa heater, which American Home Shield has failed to repair over a period of two years, even after I paid out in excess of $500 in service fees, not counting the original home warranty premium I paid in the amount of $709/year. On both repair request applications, I was unable to complete the application, receiving the message from the site, "Unable to complete".

    Basically, American Home Shield, after advising me that my yearly home warranty insurance rate would double to over $1,300/year, was attempting to make it difficult for me to request service on my current plan, which does not expire until 9/10/19. They published a response to my original complaint on CONSUMERAFFAIRS, implying that "Resolution is in progress." What resolution? Have you ever tried contacting anyone in upper management, or in a supervisory capacity with American Home Shield? Try it sometime. It is impossible to bring your grievance(s) to anyone other than the rank and file employees who answer the phone and, mostly, couldn't care less about your concerns. They are there strictly for the paycheck. See for yourself. Call American Home Shield and try to get in touch with someone in management or a service supervisor.

    Original Review: American Home Shield sends incompetent contractors to fix your covered service need. They have charged me a $75 service fee on 8 separate occasions and have never repaired my spa heater over a period of 4 years. Then, without any advance notice, they doubled my home warranty insurance premium from $700 per year to $1,400 per year. Their customer service is atrocious, with 99% of their customer service representative unable to speak legible English. They have a clause in their warranty agreement contract that requires their arbitrator to settle any disputes you may have with American Home Shield over coverage, so, you cannot sue them to settle any issues they refuse to resolve. STAY AWAY! THIS COMPANY IS A HUGE HEADACHE TO DO BUSINESS WITH! There are many much better companies out there to provide a home warranty.

    I have had two service calls and each time the people they send don't fix the problem. 1. I have a main sewage backup. After a full 24 hours they sent a plumber who eyeballed it for 3 minutes and said it must be on the city's side of the line (it was about to thunderstorm so they clearly just wanted to leave). I called the city who quickly came within 2 hours. In the rain, the city guy showed me with the two pipes how the obstruction was clearly on my property. Since the plumber saw what the city saw, the plumber must of either been completely incompetent, or more likely dishonest. I called American Homeshield. After being on the phone for them for over an hour, they said the best they could do was send a "second opinion" plumber out, but that it could take up to 2 more full days. This is while sewage is backing up in my toilets and showers. They just flatly refused to dispatch an urgent plumber.

    I was told I could not speak with a supervisor because they were busy talking to other people I requested a callback from a supervisor, which of course never happened. In the end, I had to call a plumber on my own who showed up later that evening and quickly fixed the problem without any fuss. So I paid a service fee to AHS, got no resolution, and had to pay a different plumber on my own. I dispute the service call fee with my credit card company and AHS went through all the trouble to fight the dispute by documenting how the contract says the fee is 75 dollars and the plumber did come out on that date, that I didn't not request that plumber appointment be canceled, and that the plumber said it was on the city's side. All of those are true, but the fact is the plumber was wrong and AHS did nothing to help me. So they still got my 75 dollars.

    2. I called to fix my dryer not working. The repairman comes and says it's the control board which doesn't work. They will order the part. AHS calls few days later to say the part cannot be in stock until approximately 3 MONTHS later. They basically said, it doesn't matter that it would take 3 months to fix my appliance, my appliance is fixable. So they said I either had to wait 3 months without a dryer or they would give me a credit of the repair fee they would have paid to fix the dryer (like 150 bucks) towards the purchase of a new dryer (way more than 150 bucks).

    I end up calling the dryer manufacturer directly, who sends their own repairman, who magically has access to this special rare part and fixes it. So once again, I've paid a service call fee to AHS, not had my problem fixed, and then had to pay someone else to fix it. At this point, I don't think I'm even going to bother to ask for any more service calls since all that happens is I waste 75 bucks for AHS to do nothing reasonable about the problem.

    My AC broke in the middle of Aug. 2019 in NYC. (It is super hot). After 5 days AHS couldn't reach the contractor who had accepted to come for a service call, and approved for an outside contractor. After getting all the information (SEER, serial and model number) the outside contractor is denied because his price is too high. AHS is now trying to reach out to the contractor who didn't show up to come back for the service call. As for me, I am stuck on the long Labor Day weekend with no AC 9 days after my original submission. Just save yourself the stress of dealing with AHS by putting money in a savings account.

    Unsatisfactory Service - Lack of Supervisor Response. Water Heater failure/replacement service request: AHS had Amazing Plumbing company (925) 756-5526 perform the service call. The technician did not call in advance of his/her visit as instructed by AHS. Technician was reported to have arrived early. Technician entered property without authority - owner's representative was not at the property to authorize entry. Technician never identified himself/herself. Technician apparently arrived in unmarked vehicle.

    Technician did not provide written report of service call. Instead, technician tried to bill owner additional $560.00 modification and construction carpentry charge without explanation. I have been on hold for a supervisor for over 40 minutes - AHS finally resolved the issue per my request to send out a new company without an additional charge. Amazing Plumbing company is a ripoff!!!! I am totally dissatisfied and unhappy with Amazing Plumbing. I do not recommend this company or its products.

    Our family of 6, including 4 daughters, have been without a working AC for now a month during the hottest time of the year in central Texas. Temperatures in the house exceed 90 degrees with heat index outside well over 100. AHS has no sympathy whatsoever and will do everything they can to avoid replacing the unit, we are now on part 4 of the outside unit and $800 of Freon and 5 visits from the contractor. No one at AHS can speak clear English and avoids at all costs taking ownership and helping find resolution. It always the processes' fault. Well, I have now acquired an attorney pursuant to their arbitration clause. Additionally, I have contacted my realtor who takes care of all executives from my company and she has agreed to stop using AHS and instead promote hellosuper.com. Of course we are also going into the holiday weekend which will now be an additional 3 days before I even hear from them, let alone have AC.

    I had an Air Conditioner 2nd floor electric air handler that failed. AHS sent a technician out that told me I needed a air handler and proceeded to inform me that AHS would only pay to install the cheapest products and never used quality appliances. Mine was a R22 system which is being federally outlawed this year but AHS is not upgrading anyone until the law goes into effect. AHS would only pay to replace the air handler with a cheap brand and they would only pay 10.00 per pound for the Freon.

    Their approved technician with Yazd Mechanical intended to charge me 125.00 for 11.5 pounds of Freon $1437.50. I told the tech that my system only holds 8.5 lbs and straight away he intended to overcharge me $375.00 and he just smiled. Then AHS only paid the technician 200.00 to install the air handler so he was charging me 900.00 to move the fluid line, modify the drain line and add a drain pan. He wanted to sell me a whole system with a cheap brand for $7500.00.

    I decided to get a second opinion and found Trademasters in Lorton VA and they sold me a Trane system almost a thousand dollars less than Yazd Mechanical. American Home Shield approved this technician and they told me this was a good price. This warranty company appears to be in cohorts with their approved technicians and the homeowner is forced to pay the balance of the repair at prices twice where they should be. I asked the technician to approximate the time it took him to move the fluid line, drain line and drain pan and he said it would add 20 minutes to the installation. So Yazd was charging 45.00 per minute for the modifications.

    When I was was trying to get satisfaction from American Home Shield I could not get about front line customer service. They would put me on hold for 25 minutes or hang up on me instead of connecting me to a supervisor. They refused to provide corporate information so there is no way to escalate your concerns. Do yourself a favor and find a better warranty company.

    There are two homes, and in the attic of one, there were AC ducts and two rips in the ducts. Air Squad Heating & Air Conditioning came and did the service, and it went really good. In the other house, the AC coils were really dirty. The same technician, Marco, came and cleaned them, so it’s much better.     American Home Shield's service was perfect and great. I did the claim over the phone and everything was good with the claim rep. The contractor came to fix the garage door. Its belt was broken. I’ve been working with this company for a long time and there was just one time that I had an issue, and then the man who came out apologized. It was the time when he fixed my oven. Other than that, we are really happy. That’s the reason we’re with the company.

    It really bothered me that when I called to express my discomfort with the company, they said, “It’s not my business. We just contacted the person who’s supposed to fix your oven.” And I said, “I don’t have any contract with them. My contract is with you, not with them. So, you have to fix it. He doesn’t answer the phone, I need the oven.” Some things are really necessary, and to fix the oven, it was two weeks. Nobody could believe that. The other times were always perfect. Every time I call, I have the person the next day. The only thing is I never have the option to choose a day or the time. So, I have to ask for a day off at my job. That’s the only thing I’m not happy with.

    We've been with American Home Shield since we moved into this house and we just kept it up. When my water heater broke, I called about it but nobody called me. You kind of hope that they call right away since it’s a hot water heater. It was 90-degree weather and kinda hard not to take a shower. So, I ended up calling AHS. They had nothing from the call center. The guy said, “I don't know anything about this. They didn't send me an email or anything.” They gave me a contact number. They gave me the company that I was supposed to talk to, which was B&B Plumbing, but AHS didn't tell them. The B&B Plumbing rep just said that happens all the time, people calling, and he didn't have information. So then, I had to call AHS back and have them get the information to B&B Plumbing because the B&B Plumbing rep couldn't call AHS and get the information.

    But other than me having to call a couple times about the call center, AHS did a wonderful job. I'm very satisfied with them. The contractor they sent for my most recent claim was wonderful. They were very good. The tech from Allstate Appliance Repair was very nice. And since I don't know anything about the issue, he told me stuff. He was very knowledgeable on what he does. I just took the money. I’m getting a new dishwasher and I’m just waiting on all that stuff. The dishwasher will come on Friday, and then, they're going to install it. I’m very satisfied.

    I really like American Home Shield. I had American Home Shield when we lived in Arizona.     The AC line was coming out of the secondary. The guy from the AC company didn’t care and he didn’t wanna be bothered. He just walked in, blew out the line, and then the sinks in the bathroom were clogging up. The water drains out in the master bathroom drain and the water wasn’t going away. So the sinks were filled up, so we had to keep bailing the water out of the sinks.

    I called American Home Shield the next morning and told them that the AC guy blew out my line and clogged my drain. Their rep said that she would send him back. They sent him out here the next day and he looked at the sinks filling up with water and then he said to ask for the plumber. He’s an AC company. Then we called American Home Shield and the plumber came out quickly. Everything is fine since the service. Overall, American Home Shield does their job. The reps were good and I never had a problem with them.

    I could only put so much on the online communication, so I submitted the claim for my AC through the phone as well. My house is quite large. I have a split unit, and when the tech came out, he knew exactly what was going on, that I got a clogged water line. He did what he did, and it worked for a couple of days, then it broke and stopped. When I woke up sweating in 80 degrees inside the house, I was ticked off. I went and checked the units underneath the crawl space and it was full of water. Then, I went upstairs in the sending unit, and that was the same thing. The drip pan was full and I pumped that out. It took me about an hour, four or five buckets full of water, and then cleaned that up. I suffered over that weekend.

    The same contractor told me they will come see me today at 8 o’clock, but he didn’t show until 1 o’clock. He came out and apologized. He got it squared away and the house is gradually cooling down now. Hopefully, the problem is rectified. I wanted the contractor to make sure that everything was squared away. I didn’t have to keep calling these guys back. Also, I wish the scheduling-the-service was a little quicker because I’ve been waiting since Sunday until today for somebody to show up and just fix my stuff, so I could get this house cooled because I got a huge family. I have been paying American Home Shield for more than seven years now, and before that, for 14 years. This was the first time I've had issues. Nevertheless, they are really easy to work with and they understand my concerns. I love them.

    We were having air conditioning problems. The first one was not enough cold air and the second one was no cold air. I submitted the claim with American Home Shield online and they just followed up on the second one. The online process was very easy to do and it took two days for the contractor to come out. Then the capacitor that was replaced went out after a month and a half. The guys replaced the part and they finally fixed it. The AC is working now.

    In all businesses, nothing is ever perfect. It's all about finding the solution and so far, I don't have any issues with AHS. They have been great.     We had problem with the microwave, and American Home Shield sent out the contractor. Unfortunately, the day that he came in, we had a power outage over here. So, the next time, American Home Shield sent another company and the technician looked at it. He was very good. He went through everything and he found the problem.     I filed a claim with American Home Shield online and the website was easy to navigate. However, it usually takes 24 hours to get an appointment scheduled. Sometimes in the past I had to call the company to schedule an appointment. So, I don't know whether AHS doesn't have a lot of technicians in the network or not. That's something I would like to see improvements on. But other than that, Certified Electrical's technician provided an excellent service for the exhaust and repairs. He was on time with the timeframe that he provided.

    My most recent claim was regarding a blockage in the plumbing of my washer. The first time I made the claim via telephone, it went great because there was someone at American Home Shield to talk to regarding where I live and what was going on. We had to do several changes on the people that were gonna come out though. They were gonna send someone that was over 60 miles away, and it wasn't gonna work. I tried again online and there wasn't an immediate communication. There was also confusion with the first contractor which took days to iron out. Nevertheless, AHS found Scott's Appliance, who did a beautiful job. They came out immediately and were here on time. They were absolutely perfect in all ways. I would highly suggest for anybody in the Amador County area to use them as a plumber. I run a senior Facebook page with thousands of people on it, and I recommend AHS to everybody.

    I called American Home Shield for an AC claim. I was told that it was Freon and AHS paid a part of it. Then the contractor company called me and said that some other things happened so I got to pay them $2,000 out-of-pocket. That's a lot of money to pay when you have an insurance company. I’m paying American Home Shield a lot of money, and I choose to pay $100 ‘cause I've never had anything wrong with my house. The house is relatively new, so I was wondering what happened. The rep could never explain it to me. I also told her that I needed an invoice, which I never got. I never knew what they did.

    So this time, I called the company before I called American Home Shield and asked them if I would be under warranty if they did it 'cause it has just been 10 months. They said that they only gave us three months warranty and I told them that I never got the paperwork. That’s unacceptable that if the same thing happens again exactly and they won't have a warranty. I also said the same thing to American Home Shield because instead of ordering it online, I called them. They didn’t look into the warranty and check into that company from the last time that didn’t give me an invoice, which blew me off. They just checked and said that I didn't have a warranty and that I was told about it, so I had to pay again.

    I was wary of using the same AC company again. I live in Cedar Park, Texas and they are the only company here. But this time, they came, they fixed it, and the air-conditioning worked wonderfully. It’s an expensive rental house. So I take good care of my tenants. And the tenant said that the guy was thorough and nice. She said that this last time was wonderful and it was no problem.

    The claim I filed online for my dryer with American Home Shield went fine. The process was super easy. We set an appointment, and AMTEC Services people were here on time. They did everything they were supposed to. The dryer is now fixed and is working, so they were great. Everything went to plan on that one. However, with our AC situation, the contractor for that ghosted us multiple times. The AC people were supposed to come out Monday, but they did not show up at all. They didn't even tell us they weren't showing up. I got it rescheduled, but they said, "Put another ticket in." Still, I didn't hear from the AC people.

    I followed up again yesterday afternoon around lunch, and an AHS representative said, "Hey, we just called them, they said they can get you in between 3:00 and 7:00 today." And I said, "All right, great." So I ran home again from work, got there, and never heard anything. Then I called back and they said that they were not coming and that we should reschedule again for Monday. So, we've had an AC unit out for about a week just because they keep jerking us around. So I was pretty livid with our AHS person yesterday. It is not totally their fault, it is more on the service provider. But, that has been obnoxious. Otherwise, if it was not for that, everything else has been fine.

    I've been with American Home Shield since I bought the house in May of 2018. I just renew with them. I usually do a claim online, but this time, I did call because this was a repeat. I wasn’t sure what to do because my mom had the same problem and it was back in March. I didn’t know if I would have to pay the $75 again.     I purchased the warranty when I purchased our home. On Monday I filed a claim online. I was told that the plumbing company would contact me in 4 hours in regards to the garbage disposal and I would be sent a text with their information. Monday I never heard anything, Tuesday went by and I never heard anything. I called American Home Shield on Wednesday. I got a rep I could not understand and he said he would update my request I was on hold on a silent line for 40 minutes. I finally hung up and called back I was told again that I would hear from the plumbing company Wednesday definitely. Thursday afternoon I call American Home Shield back I get another representative and he says they will send it to dispatch and change the company if I don't hear anything in 1-2 days to call back. I ask what the new company is and he says there are no other plumbers they contract with.

    I asked what happens he said I can call back tomorrow and pick my own plumbing company and they will pay for it. I asked why we couldn't just do that today and was told it doesn't work that way. I asked to cancel the service call he asked why well no one will service the unit and you took my 100 dollars on top of a monthly service fee. I made a complaint on Facebook and they said to message them and never responded. When I wanted to cancel the service they told me there is an early termination fee of amount they do not know and is not listed in any of my paperwork. Horrible service and not worth the money waiting to see if I actually get the money back I paid for the service call. I'm disappointed in this company I thought it would be worth the payment every month but we can't even get service.

    We have a 20 year old dryer. It finally quit. We called AHS and they did send out a repair person 2 days later. Of course we paid our $75.00 plus our monthly fee of $57.99. Which we have been paying for several years. The repair man stated that the dryer should be replaced as it had a part that was completely broken and another part they would not be able to get. If they tried to fix the dryer without the other part it could be a fire hazard. So, this was on a Friday. I run a dog training business and I also do boarding. I go through a lot of bedding and towels plus our own personal laundry. Thankfully I had a clothes line so I was putting stuff on the line. My problem is time. I also work a part-time job and do classes.

    We called AHS and asked them how quickly we could expect to the dryer or could we just go get one and they could reimburse us. The lady said she saw that they had recommended a new dryer. She said that she would put a rush on it. We called again on Sunday. This time they said they would not be replacing the dryer but try to find parts and have it repaired.

    I don't have a fancy dryer. We priced one at Sears that was pretty similar to the one we had. It was 389.00. So we have paid for this dryer just in monthly premiums to this company and now they were going to repair a 20 year old fire hazard. Nope. We fired them. But before we could fire them, we were told we were in the middle of the billing cycle and we owed them more money. This is not the first time we have had problems with them. They have out sourced their customer service so much that the people you talk to, you can't understand. I recommend, put the money you give AHS in the savings. That way when something happens you can pay for it yourself and save money.

    Initiated service request on Monday morning, 08/26/2019, at around 7am. The vendor they use called on Monday and advised they couldn't come out until Wednesday. So, they showed up around 2pm on 08/28/2019. Repairman was there for 10 minutes and advised my spouse that they needed to order a part, a gas control valve. Said it would be a few days until the part comes in and then they will contact me to come back out. Why does a plumbing company have to order a standard operating part for a gas water heater? Home Depot and Lowe's both sell them, so I am confused.

    I understand hot water isn't essential for survival, however I have a 10 month old, a 5 year old, and my mother in law at the house. Labor Day is this weekend so I'm probably looking at next week before anything gets done. Why do they treat their paying customers like DIRT!!?? This should have been an easy fix, but yet they are making it difficult by insisting this vendor order the part. More than likely, as with our A/C compressor, they are looking for a refurbished model. I would stay away from this SCAM of a company. I would go into detail regarding their horrific outsourced customer service, but I feel that adds absolutely no value to my complaint. They need to overhaul the way they treat folks. Guess we're stuck with COLD WATER.

    Contacted your toll number 4 times today. Was hung up on three times. Purpose was that I found that you have been renewing my contract with increasing rates without my consent and that other customers are paying lower rates. I was giving the courtesy of calling you to maintain your business with me. However, your customer service system has done what it could to lose me as a customer. The first 2 occasions were transfers to retention with immediate hang ups and the third I was given the customer service number I called to talk about my retention with a bogus transfer again. 4th rep said there was nothing she could do to maintain my business and that I either had to wait or cancel. So I initiated cancellation after the experience I had today. I even gave a courtesy of a DM on Facebook with no response. Please respond on the subject of customer service, retention, and rates.

    I have been without a dryer for almost a month. I notified American Home Shield consistently in hopes of changing the contracting company to which I was assigned. Every time I called AHS, I've been placed on hold for a long period of time or simply got hung up on. The National Platinum Service out of Columbus, Georgia is the contracting service company I was assigned. They have been to my home 3 times and still doesn't have my dryer operating. The mechanic has asked for assistance through his company but the supervisor, Randy is repeatedly ignoring his requests. This company is very unprofessional especially the receptionist, Julie. She is very rude and lack knowledge when it comes to her job. She constantly lies and has excuses as to why I cannot speak with her supervisor. AHS refused to change contractors so at this point I am canceling my contract.

    I was charged the $75 service fee on Aug 9th BEFORE a tech even came to my home - the request was cancelled. I was told on 4 occasions (phone calls made Aug 10th, Aug 13th, Aug 20th, Aug 28th) that I could expect a refund in 3-5 the business days, then 5-7 business days, then 7-10 business days. Today is Aug 29th and NO REIMBURSEMENT has been made!!! I have been a loyal AHS customer for 15 years but am now seriously considering cancelling my membership. It’s not rocket science - AHS charged my checking account in error PRIOR to a service visit, the appointment was cancelled, and a refund was requested 20 days ago that I have not received. I will file a complaint with the BBB and Consumer Affairs if I do not receive my refund immediately. Seriously disappointed with AHS for the 1st time in 15 years!!

    I called in a claim on 8/18/19 that my A/C unit is not cooling....I live in Texas where the avg temp is 100 degrees. I have a 2 story house so you know by mid-day it is too hot to stick around. 2 days later after a follow up call to AHS because we have not heard from anyone, we were told it has been sent to a local company MJS. By the next day, the tech arrived and found that our compressor is out and he would notify AHS. Now it is 2 more days later, we called AHS and were told they are on the other line with MJS and will be in contact.

    Now I am hot and frustrated, Monday I write a bad review on MJS's website and now I get a return phone from the owner. Come to find out AHS did not follow up about my lack of A/C with MJS and the owner took it upon himself to contact AHS and speed up the process. As of Wednesday, 11 days after my initial call I have a working A/C unit. Had it not been for MJS going far beyond what they were having to do to get me cold air in my house, AHS did not seem to care how hot it is in Texas during August. Thank you Wade at MJS and hopefully AHS will do a better job with their next customer and their needs.

    Our air conditioning went out 4 weeks ago. I live in Tampa Florida and it is August and we still have no air conditioning. Our house has been as hot as 100 degrees with all doors and windows open. They have been giving us the run around this whole time. They did have someone come out last week to fix it, but it only cooled down to 77 then a day later stopped working again. We have been with American Home Shield for about 4 years. They do not care about the people who have to live in these conditions. They still do not know when the parts will be here. We have called several time and NO ONE can give us an answer. STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. I will not be renewing our contract and I will be getting a lawyer to see my options.

    On July 12 I called to cancel 3 contracts with AHS due to a poor experience on a warranty repair claim made in June. They sent out a company that walked in and said duct work is not covered and left. After a few calls to AHS they sent company back out to at least verify and test HVAC system. This is despite my contract states duct work covered, and both the HVAC company and AHS said it isn't. CRAZY, but it only gets better. I told them I would be cancelling and they said no problem. Because I had renewed 2 of the three contracts in April I had to pay an early cancellation fee on each of about $50, and a prorated amount for the 2 months I had the contract. I was told I would be getting a refund of $491.86 on one of the contracts and I only received $279.89.

    Over multiple calls, all of which I have notes, covering about 8 hours of my time, they ran me around and around stating retention department or managers weren't available. They kept repeating, "You only get $279.89 for this reason. You paid $695.88 for the contract. You have a pro-rated amount of $146.03, and an admin fee of $57.99 which equals $279.89." If anyone does the math you will see it equals $491.86, which I explained over and over. On 8/6/19 I was told they don't issue refunds to credit cards, by policy and their system shows a "Check is in the mail" and I should wait for the remaining $211.97.

    I called a final time on 8/29/19, and surprisingly only on the phone 30 minutes this time. Most of it on hold while they did research. This is what I was told. I would only be getting back $279.89 because of prorate and admin fee. I said I get this, but it doesn't add up. I then asked is it because I made 1 claim, and he said yes. WOW, finally an answer, albeit not a good one. So, basically, I paid $695.88 for the 1 year warranty. Paid $100 to HVAC (trade-fee call on contract) + pro-rate of $146.03 + 1 call pro-rate of $211.97 + $57.99 admin fee. So, I used 1 month of an annual contract and it cost me $515.99. What a bargain. I've switched back to Home Warranty of America, and happy I made the move. American Home Shield is the worst at helping customers and providing quality warranty repair companies.

    We had our A/C go out in our house. Paid the $125.00 fee. A contractor reached out to us so set up appointment. They were out within about 24 hours. It was from there that the experience was terrible. American Home Shield will send out the worst company to come and check the system. The company came out 3 times after it was not fixed the first time. This is all on the process of about 2 weeks. Every time they sent a technician out we got a different story on what the problem was. Keep in mind you are stuck with the company they choose.

    They made us wait 3 days after it was not fixed the first time and our house easily reached 90 degrees upstairs. We had to stay in a Hotel and incur expenses that were not needed if they would have the system was low on Freon the from the very get go. You call Home Shield and I don't think you even speak to someone the United States. When we tried to speak to a Supervisor they keep you on hold forever! They resolved nothing with the company. They sent out Absolute Comfort and AC. Was not sending their best technicians to come out and look at our system. I had to contract my own company to come out and fix my A/C right the first time!

    Issues with both my AC and called AHS as I have been a customer for years and barely used the service. I was sent a vendor who stated he fix one of my AC however, it never worked before he left the home. I called to have them come back and they refused stating to wait till the following week. I called AHS and spoke with several Reps including escalating depart to no avail. No one advocated for me. I was told, AHS does not control the vendor schedule. Asked several times to speak to a manager and supervisor and told that AGS does not transfer to leadership. Corporate has no email address for complaints, etc. Second vendor comes out 3 days later with a different diagnosis. It is almost a week since I called them and my home is still 90 degrees. I have to chase them for updates. No one seems to care.

    The Lead Rep from resolution dept, Carlton promised to reimburse for my fans and be the point of contact but have not heard from him since and no one seems to be able to locate him. My advice to anyone is to not waste your money on this warranty. They only take care of the little jobs. No one cares if this is impacting my family medically. No consistency or truth to their stories. All you get is, I know how you feel. Stay away if you are wise. I have reach out to the American Arbitration Association for assistance with resolving my issue. I will be canceling my service and make sure others are aware of the business practice of AHS.

    AHS has been great and we ended up needing them more than we thought we would at first. They had been there for us, so we appreciate it. The only issue I'm having is that they came out and took a look at the garbage disposal and said that it would have to be replaced. And after several days went by, I didn’t hear from anybody. I called and they said, “Okay, we're gonna check into it and you're gonna receive a call.” That was last week. So, I don't know what's going on with that and I'm not sure what to do.

    But with our most recent claim which was the dishwasher, it was fine. It's fixed. I needed AHS three times. I was so glad that they were there because we couldn’t have handled it, otherwise. This is for a rental and it's in Texas and we're in Georgia. So, AHS has been a godsend. I just put the order online and then I usually get a call from the servicer to schedule the time and they go out and they take care of it. I usually have to call them back though, “Okay. What happened?” But, it has been smooth. So, I do appreciate it. I would highly recommend AHS.

    The initial claim for my dishwasher was online, but whenever it repeatedly wasn't fixed, I called American Home Shield. When the contractor came, he replaced one part and it didn't fix the issue. Then he replaced another part, and it still didn't fix the issue. The third time he came, they finally submitted it for replacement.     At nighttime, my air conditioning would kick on, and would run for two minutes and then turn off. And then, it would immediately turn back on again, so I called American Home Shield. It took Total Air Care quite a while to get here. They were supposed to be here between 10:00 and 2:00, and the guy called me at 2 o’ clock saying, “I’m not gonna make it there until about 3:30.” And then, he called at 3:30 and said, “I won’t be here until 4:30.” And I said that I had an appointment and that I was leaving at 4:45.

    So, I rescheduled for a couple days later, and the whole thing started all over again. The company called me and we set it up for between 8:00 and noon. Then the gal called me back and asked if we can have somebody come later in the day. I said, “No. This is the second time. I would rather keep the 8:00 to noon.” And she put me on hold for about three minutes and came back saying, “Okay, we’ll get somebody there between 8:00 and noon.” That took almost two weeks. I also tried calling companies in the area and they said that they don't honor American Home Shield. Nevertheless, when the guy got here close to noon to fix it, he said there was a condenser on top and that the connections were all corroded and rusted. It was breaking down and it was not making good connection. So, he replaced that, and I don't have any problems now with it.

    The vendor had a different idea of what American Home Shield wanted to do as far as getting the problem fixed. So, I was stuck in the middle trying to determine which one is it: are they going to replace the unit or are they going to fix a part? Then, they realized that cost-effectiveness was for me to fix the part when American Home Shield had determined that fixing the air vent would have been more cost-effective. But, cost-effective to who? The technician came and assumed that he had fixed the problem when he did not. As soon as he drove away, it was still leaking water. So, he came back and diagnosed it again. That was when he said something in reference to a crack in the drain pan.

    So, I'm thinking that the only thing they are going to do is replace the drain pan, but now, it became, "No, we got to replace the evap coil." And then, "Oh, by the way, before we replace the evap coil, we have to charge you near $1,000 to get this unit back in accordance with the regulations or in order to be correct." The vendor also told me that if they were to replace the air vent, then the additional cost would have came out-of-pocket from me -- replacing the sensing or the communications board and all those others that are attached to the vent itself. So, nothing has been fixed yet and the claim has not gone well. I have to wait until Wednesday until the vendor comes and hopefully, he has the parts. Meanwhile, it is going on two weeks since I had air conditioning, and it is about 105 degrees here in Georgia.

    LUX Air Engineering is not fixing the root of the problem. They just put a band-aid on it. They said that the AC unit is clearly undersized for the property and there is no possible way for it to cool the home or heat the home in any kind of efficient way. And so, it has been like that, and it is going to continue until they up the size of the unit. You set it at 75 degrees and the house will get to 78 to 80 degrees, and the AC runs all day. They’re not even authorized to change the unit out altogether. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do to make the unit run properly other than it is a 4-ton unit, the SEER rating is older, and it needs to be a 5-ton unit to cool the size of the home. I’m sure I’ll be calling American Home Shield again soon once we change seasons, and the unit will have to get fixed again.

    We've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years and the service has been real poor. We did three claims, each was $75. When the refrigerator never got fixed, we had to buy a brand-new one. The refrigerator was leaking and the techs put the new part in, and then we had to get a plumber to come out as well. Making the claim was okay, but it took over two weeks to get the part for the refrigerator. The original date the techs came out was on the 16th of August and they didn't come back until the 24th. And then when I asked for a refund, somebody gave me a runaround, then somebody else gave me a runaround. I still wanna ask for one today because it's very unfair. We had to wait that long, and they still couldn't fix the refrigerator. If American Home Shield doesn't get better, they're gonna lose us 'cause they screwed up. I wouldn't recommend them to a friend.

    We had an appointment set for our dryer and my wife took a day off of work. We dealt with Sears and they were terrible. They were supposed to be at the house between 7:00 and 4:00 pm, and she never got a phone call.     I have three toilets in the house and one of them was making a whistling sound. When you go, it makes this weird noise. The first guy that came out said he couldn't fix anything. He seemed lazy and unprofessional. He just wanted to get out of there as quickly as he could. He was terrible. But the second guy was very nice and polite. He worked through on everything that was out there.

    It's been two weeks since the second guy was out and the toilet is still making a noise. The second guy said the first guy did it fine and that it was the water pressure. But none of the other toilets in the house make this whistling sound when you go to flush it. Compared to before the repair though, the toilet that was fixed only does the sound for 10 seconds now. It doesn't do it for a long time.

    About two or three years ago, the toilet was making that noise. The plumber came replaced a part. It was fine for about three years. Now, it started to make the noise again so that's why we called American Home Shield. A part was changed but it's still not totally quiet. Other than that, American Home Shield has been very good and I would recommend them.

    My refrigerator wasn't working properly, so I called up American Home Shield. It is a GE appliance, so the technician came out from GE and he was sort of rude when he came inside of my house. I had my chair set up and table which he roughly pushed aside. I left and went into my living room because I didn't wanna be bothered. Then he came out 20 minutes later and he said that he would order the parts, then he left. He was sordid and unprofessional.

    After, I got a call from one of American Home Shield's reps and she said that American Home Shield was not responsible for fixing the refrigerator because the technician said that there was an insect infestation. I said that was crazy and not true because I just had my maid service. I told her that I would like a second opinion and she agreed. Then, she sent out a refrigerator service guy and he came out and he looked at it. In the meantime, the parts that the GE technician ordered had arrived and when the second technician came, I gave him the package with the parts in it. He said that they were the wrong parts and that some of the parts that were ordered were paper thin. So, he said he would order the new parts because he couldn't do anything. I said okay to that and after he ordered the parts, he came back and fixed everything. He did a great job.

    Other than that, I called a number of times in American Home Shield and tried to speak to a customer agent at their headquarters, but I couldn't get through. I went through about four different agents and they all said that they could not patch me in to somebody from headquarters to talk to somebody there about what happened. I just retired from the government as a federal inspector for the defense department, so I've dealt with a lot of contractors, and it was really sad that if I had a complaint, I couldn't file a complaint to AHS. Although, if I had pushed it by going to my congressman, it would've been done. But I didn't wanna do that since, eventually, the issue was resolved.

He got up on my roof and when he came down, he told me that I could close my windows and turn on my air conditioner already. It has been working since then.     The thermostat on the air conditioning unit wasn't working. I called American Home Shield and then they sent a company out. But they couldn't fix it and they handed it off to another company. So the second company came out, and my son and my husband were home at that time. They were both very impressed with the second company. The tech was really good. The first company said that it wasn't fixable, but when he came in, he fixed it in less than half an hour. We've used American Home Shield four times. Three claims were really good but one claim was a disaster. It took us almost two months to get our washing machine fixed. They had four different things come out. But the one we finally got works well.

    My hot water heater was leaking and American Home Shield sent out Wise Plumbing. The technician who came out turned the hot water heater off. He put a hose on it and drained the water out. After which he got a new hot water heater and replaced the old one. The work took four hours and he was out. I called American Home Shield for this claim and it was easy to file the service request when I got a hold of someone I could talk to instead of the computer. The hold time was not too bad though. And AHS did a good job. The response was quick and I have no complaints. I’ll probably use them again if I need to.

    I’ve submitted claims online to American Home Shield several times and it’s pretty simple. The contractor would come out for service within a couple of days. For my AC, I had Custom Climate Professionals do the consulting first this time to find out what was gonna be covered and what wasn't. He did very well but none of it is getting covered. I had a different company put the equipment in and they gave me a second opinion on what wasn’t done right.

    If I had to buy American Home Shield warranty myself, I’d never do it. Because when I told them exactly what I wanted, nobody told me that it was not covered. So, I paid the $75 fee to have somebody come out. They found the problem as I knew they would. The technician was terrific. He knew exactly what he was doing. He went straight to the problem, and he made an accurate assessment. He told me what needed to be done. But I knew all of it before he came. The only reason I called them was because I would prefer someone else do electrical work rather than me. When I submitted the claim through American Home Shield, they told me it wasn’t a covered charge and they would not reimburse the fee I paid.

    I did a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. Their representative was great. The only thing was when I got off the phone, I wasn’t sure if J & C was gonna call me or I was supposed to call them. Other than that, everything went great. By the time I called American Home Shield back, J & C had already left me an email with times and a phone number, and I just called them back, and everything’s squared away.

    The claim was for the hot water heater that started leaking around the bottom, and then I had just a little bit of hot water, which was kinda lukewarm, not hot. But when the plumber got here, he looked at the serial numbers and everything on the hot water heater, and it was put in the house in 1977. He took a bunch of pictures of it because he said it shouldn’t last that long. They replaced everything. I would recommend J & C to anyone. I was mostly impressed with their courtesy. The plumber didn't talk down on me even if he knew more about plumbing. He was really nice. J & C should get Keith a raise. He’s good. I talked to J & C on a Friday afternoon, and Wednesday afternoon, he had everything complete and was leaving the house. Everything is going great. We have much hot water. And all of us can take a shower now and not have to worry about it.

    My refrigerator was just old and it quit working on me. And before I even took the policy with American Home Shield out, I asked whether the refrigerator had to be a certain year and they said there was nothing like that. And lo and behold, everybody has been peaches and cream. I haven't ever been treated so nicely in my life and hell, I'm almost 80 years old. The service technician that they sent out from the appliance store was an awesome guy. He was a very hands-on type of fellow.

    American Home Shield said that they have to replace the refrigerator. So my wife and I went online and we picked a unit out. After that, I got an email saying that it went through but then I got another email saying I don't think it went through. So I'm trying to hurry up so I can get home today to call them and ask if it went through or not because if it didn't, we're gonna have to figure out how to get it all fixed back up and redone again. I've been without a refrigerator for well over two weeks now and between buying ice and re-buying food every week, thinking the refrigerator was fixed and then it wasn't, it just got a lot expensive. They also said it would be five to 14 days before I get the refrigerator and the wife wasn't happy about it. But I asked if she wanted to run out and buy a $1,200 refrigerator or we can sit back and gradually wait on these folks. I mean, I can eat sandwiches. And I finally wooed her into it.

    American Home Shield has been hands-on 24 hours a day when I've needed to call somebody. I can call them anytime of the day and night. There's either someone there to answer the phone or they'll call you back as soon as daylight gets there. And I've had no bad person on the phone. No one was in a bad mood. They're a great bunch of people and it's nice to sit and talk to people on the phone who are friendly, laid back and steadily asking you if there is anything else. You're an idiot if you don't get this American Home Shield.

    The garbage disposal was recently installed in July and then I had to call a plumber back because it was leaking. I tried to submit the claim with American Home Shield online, but the online process required a $75 co-pay, which I thought wouldn't apply in this case because I was asking for them to fix something that was supposed to have been fixed. So, I called and spoke with a representative who made the arrangements without me doing the $75 co-pay.

    MSE Plumbing was was good. It was the same technician that came in July. He recognized that the unit was leaking out the top. The first one was defective and it was interesting that he chose to replace the entire thing instead of making a repair. But this time, he left me no paperwork. There was no receipt or anything for me to sign, nothing to show that he was ever in my home.

    On both occasions when the technician came out with a new unit, he didn't take the old one with him. What he did was he disposed of it in my personal garbage, which for me is an issue. I have a very small waste can and these boxes are really big. I wasn't happy about it but I let him do it because I didn't know if I had an alternative. It's not a big deal, but it was a little inconvenience. Other than that, he got the work done and he was very professional, on-time and very polite. He also seemed to know exactly what he was doing. The garbage disposal seems to be working very well wince the repair and there's no more leaking.

    I had my system serviced where Freon had to be added. This was the first or second time it had happened. American Home Shield sent out United Air Temp and they were fine. Aside from adding Freon, there was another issue that was causing one of the other issues that the technicians found. That was rectified. The only thing was the email that I received from AHS was a little misleading. It stated up to $10 for the Freon replacement. But Freon is $100 per pound so $10 doesn't cover much. I have an older system and eventually, it will break again.

    I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and navigating the website was good but they should have a field or a block where you could describe the fault. It might help the technician or the service repair company to have a little bit of an idea before they get here of what the problem may be, or it might jog their memory to say, “Hey, give this customer a call because he’s talking about this, this and this.” I’ve had a few other complaints and I had to tell the technician over the phone prior to them getting here so, they would be well-prepared by the time they get here.

    The air conditioning unit was leaking out water, and the guy checked all the drain lines for me, gave it a clean air and ran the AC for a while to make sure it was up and running properly. The first time he did a repair, he just did a minor repair and said it was okay. But within 24 hours, the problem was still there. It’s not the fault of the technician because he’s not gonna sit inside the house for 24 hours waiting to see if the problem has been completely fixed. I had to be at home for the repair but I can understand that someone has to be here because you just can’t let these guys or anybody into your house. It is a minor inconvenience, but that’s how it works. It was very good that the contractor gave me a heads-up before they arrived and by the time I arrived after getting the phone call, they were either already here or they were here within a matter of just minutes.

    It has taken two companies and eight separate visits to have a water heater replaced. This is a common thing. After the water heater was replaced, now the pipes squeak. Had the contractor out and the problem still exists. AHS has terrible contractors and even worse customer service. When I call customer service, lie EVERY time (14 and counting over a month) and say that their managers are in a meeting and can not come to the phone. This is regardless of the time of day and how long you wait on hold. They also say that the manager will call when then get out of the meeting. Again, 0 for 14. This company is an embarrassment.

    Please beware of this company! First off I was told BEFORE signing up that the items I mentioned were covered. Then when I submitted a claim and paid my $100 copay, they denied over half the work order. Stating that the items weren't covered. I then was offered a free month when I stated that I wanted to cancel. I accepted, hoping maybe things would improve. Just for a safety measure I did not update the payment type on my account. It took less than 2 weeks for them to call me and say my payment was declined.

    I had to explain to them I was given a free month. They transferred me to another department where I was told they placed notes on the account and I wouldn't be called about this again. However, I was called two more times regarding my payment, for the same month I was given for free, not going through. After the third call, I cancelled. I will never do business with these people again. I do not even want a home warranty. It feels like a giant scam.

    My wife called in for a problem with our refrigerator around end of June 2019 (dont remember the exact date). The refrigerator was not cooling and the display showed some weird values. On July 1st, we got a text saying that an AHS service provider - SOS Services will be reaching out to set an appointment. July 2nd was our appointment and the not-so-skilled technician came come and identified that the refrigerator unit (Kenmore brand) needed a new motherboard. He ordered it and on July 10th, came and replaced the motherboard telling us that in 3-4 hours everything should be back to normal.

    3 to 4 hours passed and the same error message was back on screen and the water dispenser was spraying water when we tried to use it. Called the technician who did not answer. Called AHS and then sent a text saying that someone from Sos services will be reaching out to schedule an appoint on July 11th. Then we got a text saying that AHS service appointment with Sos services has been scheduled for July 12th and the technician will arrive between 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. CDT. On July 12th we got a text saying that the a "skilled" (wonder how skill is measured) technician was on the way. We waited and waited but it was a no show.

    We called AHS again. We were told that they will talk to the service provider and were told that some parts had to be ordered. We were then told that if the service provider cannot fix the issue, they would replace the refrigerator. All blank promises. Since then we have called AHS several times (almost every week) and each time we were told lies that they would escalate this to the service provider relationship department and that someone from AHS would call us within the next 24 hours to resolve the issue. My wife and I have wasted nearly an hour each time we called only to be told the same information over and over again.

    They won't give us the Customer Escalation number to talk to someone who can resolve this. Till date and it has been nearly 2 months now, we have no resolution. It is nearly two months now and we don't have a working refrigerator putting the family at stress. This experience is horrible. Now, I get a letter stating that my AHS service contract is due for renewal ... Guess what my answer is going to be. Hopefully if someone from AHS is seeing this, they will take action and address this immediately - if they have any customer service in their DNA.

    Our refrigerator was dead at end of July, 2019 while we were away from home. We have to throw away about three to four hundred dollars food. AHS sent technician to diagnostic first, then let us wait for a week for parts arrive. They ordered the wrong parts and it does not work well with our refrigerator. The temperature is totally mess up and again, we have to throw away bad food every week. Cost us more than five hundred dollars without a solution. They sent technician and we were being tested again to see if technician can fix the problem, but no luck. Food is still going bad every week because temperature is not right.

    We called AHS, but they want us to go through the same process all over again, for a 2nd opinion. Now is end of Aug, 2019. This has been one month without a refrigerator and no solution. We are still waiting now, food is still going bad and not knowing if we will have a refrigerator soon. This is totally nightmare with this kind of process. You may want to think again if you want to use their service.

    I had a simple drip/leak in my master bath faucet. Just needed to replace the stem cartridge. Plumber came in and snapped off the plastic handle extender then said he would have to replace the entire valve assembly as a result... Then, he said AHS would not cover cost to replace with the same equipment and would have to replace my entire Moen handles and faucets, further they would not match the rest of my home faucets. I called AHS immediately and was informed they would ensure it was repaired with exact match and that I would have a call within a day or two from plumber to schedule the repair. Never received call. I have called the AHS line several times and spoke with the call center, each time with the same response... They will call me within two days.

    Finally, after two weeks and several calls, I pushed to speak with a supervisor...Berna. Berna said AHS would refund half my service fee and promised that I would have a call from AHS to resolve this within 2 business days. I did not receive the call. It is now in the middle of the THIRD WEEK that I cannot use my bath tub due to AHS contractor screw up and I cannot even get AHS to return calls as they repeatedly promise to do. This was a simple faucet drip which should have been an easy repair.

    I am on a call again where the first person put me on hold for a supervisor, then the call was answered by another call center person who was not a supervisor...Kendahl, stalled and said she was creating a research ticket and took much convincing to finally give me a supervisor. The previous supervisor, as well as each of the previous call center agents all said they 'were creating research tickets and would call me back in two days." This is ridiculous. You took my money. Your representative broke my bath tub. And, now I am on hold waiting for the next assistance.

    Katisha in the Georgia Call Center is now according to her "doing the efforts and going through the motions" (her exact words) to hopefully get me taken care of. She promised to call me by end of the business day, but I am not banking on that, as she made the point of telling me several times that AHS is "not responsible to fix this issue." Yes, that is what she said, and she referred me to our contract. Seriously? I pay your company $600 per year, plus a $100 service fee to have a dripping faucet repaired and your hired technician broke the faucet and has left my bath tub out of service for nearly three weeks now, and the best you can say is that you are not responsible? You cannot even return calls as promised so many times. Really..?! How do you measure your performance? Because, I'll bet you can do better if you put in a little more effort. Contract **.

    You can never get in touch with AHS when the service provider does a bad job. Our air conditioner has been ‘worked’ on, replaced inside and outside units in the past 4 years and then worked AGAIN. The contractor, Comfort Heating and Air of Shreveport never checked to be sure unit was working properly! It’s almost 100 degrees outside in this August 2019 heat! What about my service?

    I made a claim on my AC unit. The compressor was broken and it was not good any more. So, they had to replace that. I submit claims over the phone and sometimes the reps were hard to understand. Still, they were helpful after the fact that you understand what they were saying. The service contractor was bad. I had to wait almost a month to get my unit fixed. Their office was blaming American Home Shield for the approval. But my thing is if you're ordering a part it's because you already got approved. They said, "Well, American Home Shield, they work a certain way." I went, "But you ordered a part because they approved it, right?" So, they were trying to go around that.

    Also, I would call them and they wouldn't answer. I might have spent a whole day calling them every 15 minutes. So, that one day, I was so frustrated that I actually drove over to the address that was online. And if you could look up the address for Stanley Air & Heating, it goes to a house. It's a home address, and that's where they work out of.

    When I went there, I noticed they were doing a bunch of AC stuff and it was kind of a trashy-looking place. They opened the garage door and they had a little set-up office inside the garage. They had a little receptionist there and matching service. I explained to them I was here because I couldn't get a hold of them on the phone and that I had an appointment that day at 5 o'clock, and it was 4 o'clock then already and I wanted to know if they were going to show up because I have people coming from out of town and my house is hot. We then scheduled them to come over because it was going to get fixed. Then they wanted to charge me 1,000 and something, when American Home Shield told me it was gonna be 600-something. I was wondering how that worked. So, when Stanley called me, he said not to listen to whatever American Home Shield told me, and that they were charging 1,200. I was desperate and so I said, "okay."

    I went over there twice, because when I went to their office, they were like, "We're gonna be there on Monday." So Monday came around, and sure enough, they never showed up, and I never got a call back. So, I called on a Monday, and I got an answer finally late in the afternoon. I said that they scheduled me for Monday, and it was already 3:00 o'clock again, and that I wanted to make sure that they had me on their service route that day. Then, they said, "Oh no, you're scheduled for tomorrow." I couldn't be here tomorrow because was going on a trip. So, my schedule was revolving around them, and then they backed out every time. I told them that I'm coming back Thursday night, so they can be here Friday to install it. He told me, "Yes," and that the part was there.

    So, here comes Friday after my trip from Vegas. Sure enough, the same thing. No call, I was trying to call them all day long to see what time they were going to show up. And then, I didn't get any response. So, I drive out there again and ended up meeting the owner. I said, "Well, I have an appointment today to get my AC installed and I wanted to know what's going on." She goes, "Okay, well, let's go to the office." So, they opened the garage door and we went in there. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand was doing, and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand's doing.

    Sure enough, they call that place that was supposed to have my AC installed, and it was not there. It's not there. So I went, "You guys told me that it was here." They said that that was what they have been told. Well, that was not my problem. They are the experts here and they should have done to a tee if it was there or not. I didn't know whether they were playing games with me or what. I said, "You guys gotta give me a discount for all this trouble I'm going, right?" So then she was, "Yeah, we're just drop it down to 650, which is the quote standing American Home Shield had for me." And I was like, "You two are scammers."

    So I ended up paying the 650, and then they came in and installed the unit. The only thing about the unit I had concerns is it is not the same as the one that I used to have. It's a different unit. It looks like it's a smaller compressor in there, despite them saying they were going to order the same exact thing. They also told me it was the insurance that ordered the part. I will never go there at Stanley again, and I am sure AHS gets a lot of complaints from them. Overall, AHS did their part, but they need to do an audit on the people they are subcontracting.

We filed it online but it said we may not hear back for 24 business hours and it was on a Friday. We didn’t wanna go without AC over the weekend, so I ended up calling the company and they were able to schedule me in that same day, which was nice. The sent a contractor that fixed the seal, then put more Freon in and my wife said everything went well. So far, everything has been good.

    I didn't like the first contractor American Home Shield sent out but in the contractor's defense, they were 157 miles away from my house. American Home Shield sent them from the west side of Fort Worth all the way to East Texas, and the technician drove three hours to get here because of traffic. When he got here, he was mad and frustrated. It was late in the day.

    When the contractor got here, he stuck in the capacitor and the AC cranked up. I asked him to be sure to check the inside unit as well because he was already there. I was attending to my dad who's deaf and mute and when the guy came in the living room, I asked if he had checked the inside unit. He said yes and that it was fine so I signed off and he left. About 15 minutes later, the AC stopped cooling and I couldn't figure it out. I thought maybe it was because the house was so hot and the unit was condensing so much. So I opened up the unit in the house and it looked like somebody had emptied coolant all over it. It was completely frozen up. I called the contractor first but they said they couldn't get out here until the end of next week and that I had to be on the back side of the list. I told them that I should be on the top of the list. The technician had just left. He was not even back there yet.

    I was upset because my dad had had three heart attacks and five strokes, and I was on a 118-degree temperature out. I'm on a fixed income and I couldn't move in. My dad couldn't go back to the nursing home either because he had to wait 21 more days before he can go back for any reason. So I was really in dire straits. What ended up happening was I called American Home Shield. They got Cool Effect by Larry and Cool Effect called me immediately. They were 20 miles away from me. I don't know why American Home Shield didn't send them to begin with other than the fact that I think they're looking at a list and when it says Texas, they just send the contractor out from wherever. One of the dispatchers I had talked to was in the Philippines.

    But anyway, Cool Effects came out right then and they did really well. It was at 8 o'clock at night. They brought lights, worked on the unit and tried to get it going. As soon as the technician got to the outside unit and I told him what was going on, he knew what the issue was. I had also sent him a picture of the inside unit. There was a little valve that was sticking out but not all the time, and that was probably what caused the capacitor to go out to begin with. They ordered the part and got it back in. The experience was wonderful. They actually followed up as well. They called me three days in a row after they got the part installed to make sure it was still working okay.

    I've been with American Home Shield forever and I've heard people say it is just waste of money. But no, it isn't. I have had the best experience. Every time, they've gotten somebody out here right away. I have another neighbor next door who has Choice and she can never get contractors out there. It takes a week to get somebody out just to service a dishwasher. American Home Shield, on the other hand, has replaced the huge air conditioner in my other house. They also replaced the refrigerator and fixed so much stuff for me. That's why I wanna get my brother on them. He's a veteran. He's got cancer and he's on a fixed income. I'm gonna call and see if American Home Shield will make him a policy that lets me take the payment out of my bank account.

    A flow switch on my spa went bad. My claim experience with American Home Shield went really well. I did it online and it was easy to navigate through their site. If I could do it, anybody can. I tried calling them as well and it's easier to do it online. The person that I got couldn't understand what I was saying. A flow switch is a very specific item and the person didn't have a clue whether it was covered or not. Other than that, I submitted the claim at 8:00 and the technician called me probably within 30 minutes. He was actually in the area and he wanted to take care of it. It went pretty well. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I'd recommend them to anybody.

    Everything went great with AZ Remodeling & Plumbing. The tech diagnosed, returned and fixed the issue. It was pretty quick and easy. However, the company that American Home Shield provided for AC repairs was not professional at all, and I refused to receive that technician for follow-up service. They were only three people, a father, son and one more employee. When I requested to have someone else to follow up on the repairs, they said they don’t have anybody else. And so, I need to request another company to be sent this way.

    I submitted my claim online and American Home Shield sent a guy out here and all he did was take some pictures of it. Then he wanted to replace the coils and repair a leak. But there was no leak. I then called and complained because I didn't think that would solve the problem. So AHS sent Affordable Comfort and Construction for a second opinion. Chad, unlike the guy from other outfit, checked the Freon level and that everything was working. He said he did not detect any leaks. So, everything was working that way. Also, the other guy did not even notify me ahead of time that he was on his way, which Chad did. He also checked the electronics and he saw that old style which he called a hard start kit. He said it has a relay that has contact points and if they start sticking, it would cause the problems. He also said something about when it is running, it can build up pressure which will cause that, too.

    It shut off one time and I had to restart it, and it has been running ever since. That was on a Sunday morning and I had to go to work early that morning and I just got it running again so my house wouldn’t be 90 degrees when I came home. I don't know what that hard start kit replacement had to do with it, but it does not shut down all the time like it was doing. So the issue has not been completely resolved yet, but he said that I should give him a call if it did again. Overall, I would still recommend AHS. They are trying everything they can to resolve the problem. It is hard to fix something if it is not broke at the moment you are trying to fix it.

    Our AC wasn’t working at all. It was kicking in and out. The contractor came out and the tech fixed what he could. And he said, "Now, I think this will do it." But he said, “If this, this, or this happens, then I know exactly what the problem is.” I said, “Okay, but why would you not fix it today if you think it may do this, this, this?” Well, they didn't fix it that day. They did a quick fix. Sure enough, not even a week later, it gave up the ghost again and I had to call. And they came back out and the tech worked for hours trying to figure out how to get it to work. And then they decided that it just was not gonna do it and they were supposed to replace it. I got a letter and they were supposed to call tomorrow to schedule. I understand it’s August. The air conditioning people are working 16-hour days.

    We had a similar thing happen last year and we had to put a bunch of Freon in, but American Home Shield doesn’t pay for that. We do. It was three years in a row now this has happened and it has been July or August, and then this time, they tried to fix it. American Home Shield was good about getting the contractors out here. It’s just that the AC can’t be fixed. Also, you have to order and AHS has to approve and go through all this stuff. Overall, I’m okay with it. I just hate that it’s hot in here. I went to Home Depot and I got big commercial fans. So, when they're turned on, you can’t hear anything but you can have some cool air.

    I thought I had the best policy that AHS offered. One reason I have them is for things like this, and I want whatever they cover. And coming up with $800 all in one whack to pay it is a lot, but that’s better than paying in the long run for things that can go bad. But then I found out that I didn't have the best policy that AHS offered when I needed it.

    Family Heating and Cooling came out for one of my five claims. The tech looked at the issue and found out what it was and went to get the part. But for the other four claims, I had to wait another week or 10 days for the contractor to come back and fix the problem. The tech from Family Heating came back and fixed the problem within 45 minutes to an hour. But I got aggravated with my other claims because when you call and put the claim in at first, you gotta wait a week or five days. I was upset with the air conditioner because I had to wait three or four days. I have an elderly father-in-law that's 85 years old and has breathing problems. And like I said, thank god, that it was cool out and it wasn't as humid as it was when I lost my air conditioner. But I had a very good interaction with the American Home Shield rep that I spoke to when I called to submit the claim. I got five of my friends signed up with American Home Shield.

    Bestway is always efficient, always timely, and always manages to get us in. This is the second time that we’ve had to have a claim and called and said, “Listen. These people can’t get us ‘til like next week sometime, and we need it right away.” Bestway always steps up. They even sent us a Christmas card. They're wonderful. I have nothing but praise for them. The contractor came out for my AC and was gone in like 10 minutes. He said it’s Freon. He did it, and that was it. I had just had surgery like Thursday. I had a knee replacement, so to come home and not have the air working was like, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I can’t wait ‘til Tuesday for somebody, that’s a whole week getting here, in almost 100 degree weather, as you know we’ve had outside, not to have my AC working." So, I appreciated them stepping up and getting here.

    Submitting the claim with American Home Shield went fine. Initially, my husband called. He called while I was in surgery, and they connected us to the All Seasons. They said, “Well, we can do you next Tuesday.” So, when I got out of surgery, and came out of recovery I said, “What do you mean Tuesday? Nuh-uh. I’m coming home tomorrow. No, no, we can’t have that.” As soon as I got home on Thursday, I called. TH AHS rep said, “I have to give the initial company a certain amount of time. Either they don't call back, I will call you, and we’ll reschedule it with someone else.” And that was exactly what happened. In the required amount of time, they came, so it worked well. I have recommended American Home Shield.

    I spoke to a representative when I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the interaction was good. They were concerned. It happened on late Friday night and it was kind of a problem at first because we couldn't find someone. We lost power but I called AHS and they tried to get someone. Then they called back and told me their process if we could find someone. They emailed me but we couldn't get anyone. The power ended up coming back on and about four or five days later, the main power popped off. I had to call AHS back and they handled it well. They ended up charging me twice for the one call because they deducted $100 for the first call and then I had to call back on Thursday but they immediately refunded it and checked it. So, I appreciate it. They took care of it right away and I got the money back within five days.

    The contractor was very nice, and they were on time and called. When they couldn't get here, they called back to say that they were coming and that they had to find the parts. They had to call the local energy company just to make sure and they ended up getting the parts in the main power box and replacing it. It worked fine.

    I had a claim for my microwave with American Home Shield and they set me up with a company, FSA. FSA called me on 8/7 and I thought I would get someone to come out on 8/8 to see me and install it but instead, they made an appointment for 8/9. Then, I waited all day long on 8/9 and called them several times but I did not get any response from them as to why they did not show up. I called American Home Shield and informed them I needed them to either install it by 8/9 or 8/10. I also informed FSA about it because I was leaving the country. I left a message with American Home Shield explaining that I had to leave the country and I would be returning on the 27th.

    I called them this morning to find out when they would be able to come and the microwave was restocked. I was not made aware that after 10 days of holding the appliance, it would have to be restocked. So I paid the fee this morning to get it but the representative from American Home Shield spoke with the people at FSA and they painted a picture of me lying and not being available. FSA said that they could not get in touch with me, that I was not available, and that they tried to stop at my home and install the microwave but none of that was true. I really would've preferred another company to deal with it but at this point, I have no choice. I was on the phone this morning for maybe 50 minutes and I still haven't resolved the issue with the microwave. And I'm waiting for a manager to call me back to speak with me in regards to that problem.

    Also, it's not exactly easy to get in touch with anyone and I understand that we can just go online and try to get services taken care of, but sometimes you need a human touch to help you to navigate the system. That has not always been available readily with American Home Shield because of the long wait time. It's a challenge to work with being able to resolve issues with your appliances, even with the home warranty agency. There's a lot of work that needs to be done in order to get results and it's not easy.

I could hardly understand what the first person I talked to was saying, and then, I told her that I needed a quick appointment.     The breaker panel was sparking so I called American Home Shield. They brought in Texoma Air Pros and they had their electrical guy come look at it. He fixed the breaker box but every time they would turn the air conditioner on, it kept throwing the breaker. So they had their air guy come look at it and I put a separate order in for that.

    I called in a claim for a refrigerator and I got a call the same day that American Home Shield had turned it over to Hornet Appliance. Hornet called me the following day and they told me we’d schedule it. The tech tried one way to fix it, it didn't work, and he said I had to get a compressor.     For some reason, no one that American Home Shield had sent out could identify the problem until this most recent person came to the house. He was the first person that spot-on just knew what it was and it was the third company we used. The tech said it might be the sizing of the pipelines that we have. We can live with it, but ultimately, we don’t want to. Eventually, we have to bring the guy back out. I don’t think that’s on the American Home Shield warranty. It’s going to have to be out of pocket to get that repaired. We have to reroute the line. At least now we know what we need to do and we have an estimate, so we know what we need to work towards. So, who knows if we’re able to, we’ll get it done.

    I've filed claims with American Home Shield for two appliances. One was the dryer where the timer wasn't working and they fixed that immediately. The other was a dishwasher that wasn't working and the first contractor they sent out thought they fixed it. But after one or two days of use, it went out again. AHS tried calling several times, leaving text and voice messages, but the contractor did not respond. AHS then had to get another contractor out and after going over the dishwasher and looking at it, the contractor said that there were too many parts that had to be replaced. They recommended that the unit be replaced and it went back to AHS who made the decision to replace it. I highly recommend AHS. I was recommended to them by a friend and I've also told many friends about them.

    I had the dishwasher in use, and when I came back to it and opened it up, it was completely off and there was water sitting in it. I checked the breaker and made sure the breaker or anything that was still powered on didn't blow, but it still had water in it. So, I used the Shop-Vac and sucked all the water out and I called American Home Shield to see if there was a way it could be repaired. They were able to get somebody out here, and the guy that came was excellent. He seemed like he did all his troubleshooting to try to see if he could figure out what was wrong. And then once he figured out what was wrong, he gave me an understanding to what may have happened, and that was it. He did what he had to do on his part. Then I got a notification that I would be getting a replacement and I had to schedule a date, and everything went smooth. I was really impressed by the guy that came and how quickly they were able to get me a replacement.

    As a property manager, I recommend American Home Shield to homeowners in many cases, depending on the underlying contractor for the most part, because we've had good experience with them. They give one to five contractor choices for issues, I scrutinize them and so we went with Advanced Home Services when there was a plumbing issue on this property. The tech was very good A to Z, knew what he was doing, and he took the time to assess the matter ahead of time. Typically, we give these guys a head’s up of the issue 99% of the time and what resolution is probably gonna be, and it's helpful if they listen since no one likes to be told their job. And the tech was very good. I have dealt with him personally. He was in and out and I was in correspondence with him on the phone the whole way.

    I had my AC upstairs quit cooling for the second time. Kemph was the second one that came out and they looked for leaks and recharged my unit. Now, I have cool air. There was nobody complaining at night, and I slept like a baby, and my husband was ecstatic. It’s one thing when you have a two-storey house. Downstairs is nice and cool and upstairs during the summer is super hot if you have no AC. So, it kept us all from sleeping downstairs in the living room and there are seven in our house.

    I did the claim online. I do everything online with it. Within 24 hours, I have somebody contact me with an appointment. So, it’s super fast. And I live in very rural Oklahoma so it’s kind of hard to find contractors. So, I’m very pleased. I love the online portal. I needed the contractors to come back out before. The issue wasn’t fixed. That was a little confusing the first time I did it. Other than that, the contractors were amazing. They were very informative. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield.     The garage door company came and fixed everything. They had to go back and get another part, then they came back the next week, got it all fixed, and we were up and running. I am using them privately for another job. And then I had a hot water heater that broke. It was leaking through my ceiling. It was just painful working it through American Home Shield and their contractor. They came out very quickly, which was the next day. They shut everything off and got the water out. From there, they claimed that they were gonna write up an estimate for AHS and then come back.

    American Home Shield called me a couple of days later and said I needed a new hot water heater, but then they had about four or five other things that they claimed that I needed - a new pan, a new filter, a bunch of other stuff. I was of the mindset that I don't need those. You may want me to have those, but I don't need those. I need a hot water heater. There's a difference. We went back and forth several times. I tried to call the contractor but he wouldn't call me back to talk about the individual pieces. I tried to call American Home Shield and tried to get it straightened out. In short, I walked away from that particular claim and just paid for the whole thing myself because it was so painful. I never got a phone call and I couldn't contact that plumber. It was awful.

    I have a couple of properties with AHS and I have been with them since 2012. I'm constantly looking for ways to find a different home warranty company and I haven't found one. It's so hard to talk to AHS. They don't want to talk to you. They don't really wanna help you. Once they have you in their net, they have you and they know they have you, so they don't really care. The customer service really doesn't exist. They just say, "Somebody's on their way..." It's not customer-friendly at all.

    Every time we've put a claim in to American Home Shield, we've gotten a response quickly. One time, we were having problems with our pool and spa filter. I went online and put in a service request. That was a very easy process. Thereafter, I received a text message response and an email that somebody would be reaching out to me within 24 hours. AHS also gave me the name of the contractor company and their phone number. Bluepoint Pool Service came out and their techs were excellent. They found the issue in five minutes and everything has been operating great since. While AHS has taken water softeners off their warranty coverage, we've had success submitting claims for the things that are covered.

    When the air conditioning went out, I called American Home Shield and they got somebody over here about an hour later who put in a part, and it's back up and operating. When you live in the Phoenix area of Arizona, air conditioning is important when it's 109 degrees outside. I've had American Home Shield's services for every house we've ever owned. I've been a little dissatisfied from time to time when it takes four, five, six days to get somebody to fix a problem. That wasn't the case this time, which is great. If it would have been the case this time, I'd have been unhappy which meant I would've gotten somebody out here immediately, and AHS would have paid the bill. And then, maybe they wouldn't want to have paid the bill, but I would have insisted because at 109 degrees outside, you can't just sit around on your hands.

    I'm very pleased that it was only a little part that broke because if it had been the main outside unit, that would have been a different story. AHS would had to have find somebody to replace the entire unit that evening. And I know they don't wanna hear that because that's not the way you operate. When we lived in California, I was a little dissatisfied a couple of times because the folks that AHS sent out didn't speak very good English. And they were speaking Russian, which was bothersome a bit and threatening a couple times. And I called back and said, "I fired them. I got them out of here. I don't want them here no more," and AHS accommodated that because I was right. I'm rather blunt about things when I'm paying the bill.

    I was very happy with the latest service call and with the person that came out. They replaced one little part in there. It wasn't a big thing. It was something that AHS kinda figured that was what it was because we had that kind of part go out when we were in California on the unit there too. It was a little transistor of sorts. It goes out occasionally during air conditioning times. Also, AHS responded. The guy called me within minutes of me calling AHS and said "I would be here in an hour or less than an hour." He gave me an exact time. He was here within five minutes of what he said on the phone.

    I called American Home Shield and they sent out a service vendor to take care of my refrigerator issue. The service contractor was useless. The guy came the first time, walked in, said he knew what the problem was but he didn't have the time to do it that day and he left. So, they rescheduled like a week or two and the same guy showed up. He came in, started tearing the damn refrigerator apart and got the parts all over the kitchen floor. Then he looked at me and said he knew where the leak was but he couldn't find out how to get into it. I asked him how long has he been doing this work and he answered not too long. He said he had to get his supervisor to come back with him. He put the refrigerator back together again and left.

    I called American Home Shield and complained. I said very politely, "Do not, and I repeat, do not let that company back into my house." They sent me a qualified service vendor who took care of it. Pro Appliance was the first one and American Home Shield sent me Premier Appliance who did an excellent job. Then I sold this piece of property and it was inspected. They pointed out that the instrument panel on the refrigerator that gives you the temperature and controls was not functioning properly. So, I called American Home Shield again and they sent someone out within a matter of a couple of days. They confirmed that the part was defective and they ordered the part. The part came in and they installed it today. And it's running fine. I have no complaints with American Home Shield at all. I also have no complaints with the second contractor they sent out. American Home Shield reacted quickly to my complaint and I'd recommend them. They did do their job.

But I have called them many times within almost 3 months, I got nothing. They told me they submitted the form incorrectly, and always find an excuse for their terrible service.     We requested service repair for our Dishwasher. When the request sent to the local vendor, the vendor did not respond for more than a week. The vendor didn't show up for agreed appointments twice. We reached out to AHS again for this delay. They tried again with the vendor to set up the time. The vendor didn't keep up with the appointment again. I have to call again to AHS to send a new vendor. Finally, a new vendor showed up and diagnosed the issue. As the dishwasher is not repairable, AHS offered replacement offers. The replacement offers are neither market equivalent nor replacement with the same brand. Hence, we reached out to customer support to discuss further options to get better ones.

    Frontline customer support agents are very good and considerate when we talked. However, when we asked to talk to a supervisor to address our issue, this one supervisor, NICK was very terse and not ready to understand our request. He abruptly hung up on me. The whole saga is still going on for more than 6 weeks. Still, no resolution in sight. :( Every call to AHS takes more than 30-45 mins (with most of the time on hold). Extremely inefficient process and not at all happy. Hope someone in upper management takes a look at this process and make it efficient.     I contacted AHS 8/11 regarding my unit not cooling until after the sun goes down. The vendor arrived to assess and fix the problem 8/14. I was told that the unit just needed to be cleaned which is not covered because it's maintenance. I paid an additional $225 on top of the $125 trip charge to have the unit cleaned. My house never cooled. I called the next morning and they sent the same person out on 8/16. Mind you the first trip the tech never went into my attic. This time he did and said that it needed a part and that he'd order it and would be back Monday. The vendor contacted me Monday 8/19 and said the earliest date they could come was 8/21. On 8/21 the tech came out and said he had the wrong part. So he had to re order the part. At this point the hottest it had gotten was 78. The next appointment was set for 8/23.

    I called the morning of to confirm that he had the part and ask to be the last person he would see because of my work schedule. At 5:05 I received a call from tech saying he did not have the part and not sure why the appointment was made he'd come out Monday. The next day Saturday 8/24 8:00pm my home was 89 degrees. I have a 14 mth old, teen, husband, myself, a 105lb dog and a small dog. It was almost UNBEARABLE! I called the vendor around 10pm. Said they would rout to a tech in the am. I Called again at 8am and said they would contact the oncall tech. The same tech text me, said he would come by after church and see if he could "make an adjustment to try and bring the temp down". At 12:36 I hadn't received a call or text from him so I texted him back to see around what time he would be there. I didn't receive an answer.

    At Around 3pm I called and the tech stated he couldn't do anything until Monday because he had no part when earlier the conversation was different. I call the vendors office and I ask for it to escalated to management. I received a text approximately 30 min. later from the tech saying "I may be able to pull something off". He text about 20 min later saying that he is 30min away. When he arrived there was another person with him. He then said the compressor was weak and I needed a new one. Now it took this tech FOUR visits to diagnose the compressor! Now I have to wait 3-5 Business Days for the part. I contacted AHS four times Sunday after the tech said it was the compressor. The only convenient concession I was offered was 1 night at a hotel or 125 cash that could go towards a portable unit. I was told per the vendor they try to expedite the ordering of the part and was told that they couldn't do that.

    I called and was told the same information to the compassionless Manager ** in the Georgia office, said my case was not an escalated one, that she did not have a supervisor that I could speak with, and that she couldn't give me the information as to who her supervisor was. She also stated that escalated calls go through corporate and that she couldn't give me corporates number. AMERICAN HOME SHIELD DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! Last night my house was 91 degrees!!! I guess life threatening conditions is not an urgent matter.

    They contract these jobs out to incompetent vendors and will not provide loaner window or portable units in cases like mine when the customer has been waiting weeks and there is life threatening temperatures. So I bought a window unit that only cools 1 small bedroom for 150.00 and I have to wait maybe another WEEK in this TEXAS HEAT!

    Don't be fooled thinking this is a great warranty. It's not. Water heater was leaking to replace OUT OF POCKET $700.00 + $75.00 SERVICE CHARGE. WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY IS THAT???? HERE'S THE SCOOP. Plumbing company verbiage is modification. Plumbing company has to modify the hot and cold water lines. NOT TRUE. They have to replace the hot and cold connection lines that might be 6 inches longer because American Home Shield uses their own water heaters plus they have to change out the gas hose because it might be longer, understand the hoses need to be changed but the cost for the hoses is $40.00 each at most, and it's replacing hoses.

    Next new water pan under the heater $100.00, $65.00 to take to dump, new vent because it's not the same size of water heater all because they have to use American Home Shield water heaters. Here is my question if I needed a new air conditioner, do they just bring it into the home and drop it off because modification are going to cost thousands????

    When we actually needed it because our A/c went out on the hottest day of the year, they could not get a technician scheduled for another 5 days. Their policy of addressing the issue within 48 business hours is bogus as their managers could not define what a business hour was. They refused to find. E another contractor outside of their network. Just kept giving me the runaround. Ended up cancelling my policy (over $100 processing fee by the way) and finding my own help by the next day. What have I paid for all those months? I feel robbed.

    First time I filed a claim for my washer technician wasn’t able to fix it. He said needed a part. Then he came back. Now said needs to be replaced. Insurance company said they needed details report from technician and technician said he already sent it. I got stuck in between both of them. Insurance company took my $100 deductible right away. It’s been more than two weeks. Still I have no washer. Customer service people have difficulties to explain due to their accent. I didn’t quite understand what they are saying. It seems all of them having lack of proper communication skills. I was hoping to speak with someone in clear English and understandable and I wasn’t. So I don’t recommend anybody get this insurance company until they hire skilled personnel to communicate with their customer.

    In July/August of last year (2018), I submitted a request for service for my microwave. A contractor was dispatched to our home and submitted his findings to American Home Shield (AHS). My claim for repair was denied and I spoke with 3 or 4 different representatives. One told me that I would be receiving a check for something along the lines of "an in lieu of payment," due to AHS not approving my claim for my microwave to be repaired or replaced.

    After a week, I called to get an update and I spoke with a different representative this time. This representative told me that my claim was denied and that I would not be getting any payment. I explained what the first representative had told me and this representative said she would leave a message for someone from the claims department to return my call. That never happened, so I called a couple of weeks later and again spoke with a different representative, who took a message and told me that she would have a supervisor to return my call.

    After two more weeks, I still had not received a call from a supervisor, so I called again and was put on hold for about 20 minutes before someone (who said she was a supervisor) got on the line with me. I explained things to her and she explained that due to the findings of the contractor, my claim request was denied. However, she told me that she would provide me with a refund of the $75.00 service fee that I paid, and that the refund would be in the form of a gift card. It has been over a year later and I still have not received any refund or "in lieu of payment." I had decided to just leave things alone; but, the incident still has not left my mind. Therefore, I am now choosing to write this review.

    Overall, I am satisfied with American Home Shield, to the level that I chose to continue my home warranty with them after it expired last month; and have also referred a friend, who has purchased a warranty from them. Again, my only dissatisfaction thus far is the false or misleading information that I received regarding a refund being granted to me.

    The lock needed to be replaced on the washing machine. I called American Home Shield and they set up who was gonna come out. I let the representative know that the issue that I had with my washing machine before, and that many different companies had come out to try to fix it, but couldn’t. GE was the one who ended up fixing it, and if possible, to go to directly to GE. Because I had called them a long time ago when the washing machine was just sitting with the lock broke. They told me that if the lid had been forced open, which was what happened, then that’s what the problem was. So, I told the person that it was already diagnosed and that it would not reset. And they were able to tell me it’s because the lock was broken.

    When the guy came, he checked it, and he had the lock in the vehicle he drove. And went to get it, put it on, and the washing machine works fine. The contractor knew exactly what to do. He made sure that the washing machine worked before he left up outta here. This last experience was great. The only thing that I do not particularly care for with American Home Shield is that it seemed like my premium was going up every year.

    We had an AC claim with AHS and when we submitted it, they got back with us almost immediately in email. And they sent the provider's name that was gonna be out. But it took the gentleman a while to get out there. We filed the claim on Thursday and I thought he was gonna be calling me, but we called him the following Monday and he said that he could get out to look at it Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. Then, he didn't show up Tuesday, so I called him again Wednesday. And he called me on Tuesday and told me that I was supposed to call him and make an appointment. But I've always spoken to him a couple of times. Anyway, he did a fine job when he was out there. It wasn't anything too serious. Other than that, I've only had to use AHS a couple of times but I've been very happy with their service.

    I totally had my doubts about Absolute Paradise Cooling & Heating because I had never heard of them but they were great. I was very pleased with the technician. My compressor was going out and they said they didn't know what American Home Shield was going to do, that American Home Shield doesn't like replacing whole units but that they were going to push for it because it was what I needed.

    I was expecting to have a battle with American Home Shield to defend that we needed the compressor but the contractor did it for me so I was extremely happy about that. I don't think that American Home Shield was a problem either though. I got a call from them saying all was good and in a little over a week, Absolute Paradise was able to come and do the work. They did a great job. I was even a little unhappy because they didn't put a cover down. My carpet was dirty and I couldn't just vacuum it. But they paid to have my carpet cleaned. That was very nice.

    My only complaint about American Home Shield is that whoever they contact for work takes 24 hours to get back. If I'm submitting my claim some time Thursday, it's Monday before I hear back. No one usually calls me within 24 hours. It's always after. So if it's an emergency, that can be a problem. It's also very difficult to get through to a human to file a claim and sometimes the menu is so limited for what I'm needing. Rarely has there been a correct answer for me. But it never presented to be a big problem either. I've also heard nightmare stories about other warranty companies not covering much in fine print and I haven't had that with American Home Shield so I'm very relieved and happy about that.

    When I had an issue with my air conditioning, I submitted the claim online and it was fine. The contractor came out a day or so, but then the same problem resurfaced and then they came back out again. They submitted a request saying that the inside coil needs to be replaced, so it hasn't been finished yet. Nevertheless, they were pretty prompt and they were excellent. American Home Shield got a good contractor out here originally, so I’m happy with that.

    A piece that was in the motor part that raises the door broke all at one time. It was working one day and the next day, it wasn't. I called in the claim to American Home Shield and the rep’s native language was not English. She had a very strong accent and I repeatedly had to ask her to repeat things because I couldn't understand her. It took five days to get the contractor out and he was very cordial and professional. I would highly recommend that company again. It was determined that the springs on the door were worn out and the springs had to be replaced. Then, the garage door opener itself was replaced. None of it was covered by AHS so, we paid for the entire replacement. Nevertheless, we’ve had AHS for 20 years and we are pleased with their response and coverage.

    A pipe burst in the yard. I called American Home Shield and they took care of it in a couple of days. It was an emergency but the first company never came out. We never heard from the company. I called back American Home Shield the next day and they got another company, SDL. I talked with Mike and he was a very nice guy. He came out within an hour. I was shocked. It was the holiday weekend, but he came out on that Saturday to complete the job since it was an emergency. It's been a week, and I’m still waiting on what they’re gonna tell me.

    The air conditioner was blowing out hot air. The tie wrap busted, and the wire went on to something, and shorted it. So, the tech had to replace the wire, and then re-tie wrap it. I called American Home Shield after I had that service completed, and told them that I forgot that our air ducts in the attic needed to be replaced. I requested somebody to see it, and I put in a formal request. I talked to somebody regarding having them use the same ticket, so I didn’t have to pay $75 again to have that company fix my air duct thingies.

    I appreciate American Home Shield but I was pretty upset with what they're doing. They automatically pulled money out of my checking account each month, because I gave them approval to do that. It used to be $45, and now, they don’t even give me a notice. They just told me tha they sent me the renewal bills. But they don’t send anything in email that says my bill is going up. So, they just start taking more money out whenever they want to. So I told them that for that alone, they should replace my heating ducts and not make me pay $75 again. But I’ve been waiting for close to a month now. American Home Shield still has not called me back.

    Overall, I like their service. I don’t have a problem with American Home Shield, but it’s a wee bit frustrating. All of these are very hard to read. It takes me a really long time to even find my policy number. I’ve had them for a lot of years, but on a yearly basis, it’s almost like they change my policy number when it renews. And then, I would call in, and I would give them my name, and they didn’t even know who I was. They don't know me, but yet, they're taking my money. I would tell them the policy number that I found, but they would tell me that it has been changed to another policy number. It’s really frustrating. In fact, I can’t even go online and do online. If I would go online and submit a request, it doesn’t know who I am. But if I call up and talk to the guy, they finally find my account.

I called on a Sunday, put in a service call online, then went back and talked to them that next day on Monday. Everything was fine with their customer service.     Our AC was turning on, but there was no cold air, so it wasn’t cooling. I filed a claim online to AHS and it was extremely simple and fast. The contractors set up an appointment and then they came in. The gentleman was extremely helpful. He was explaining what was going on. He checked everything he needed to check. I don’t know much about cooling, but he seemed like he definitely knew what he was doing. And he said there was a certain issue. It was like a fuse that burned because there was a wiring issue. So, he fixed the wiring issue and he replaced that, and everything started working and it’s been working ever since. I’d definitely tell my family and my friends about AHS if they ask, that I’m extremely happy with it.

There's a long wait the majority of the time, and any other time is because I don’t understand some of their policies.     I had a problem where the ejector pump was hooked up to a switch. It had to be turned on for it to run. First, it started out as a plumbing request because I thought there was also a problem with the ejector pump. I called somebody on the phone ‘cause I wasn’t sure if it was covered or not. They put it in and the plumbing company called me and we scheduled a time. They came out and fixed the small thing. Then they said that we have an electrical problem so they submitted that claim and the electrical company came out. Everything went really well and I'm super satisfied with American Home Shield.

    Our garage door was old, and we knew that when we purchased the home. Six months ago, it started acting up as there was some kind of malfunction.     The AC was not working properly and this is the second time that I’ve filed a claim. It was kind of an emergency. It was fine that morning, but when I came home from work, it wasn’t working at all and I went home to a 100-degree condo. When the contractors came and looked at the system, it was just a glitch.     I was having issues with the AC so I contacted American Home Shield. They sent out someone from Direct Improvement and he was very professional. He was on time, did a good job, answered questions that I had, and was very polite. He did an assessment and put some coolant in. After that, he came back and the house was even hotter than it was. He came back out, looked at it and said that the AC unit was gone. We're looking to replace it. They're supposed to be ordering the unit and hopefully, we'll have it done this week. So far, it hasn't been long that we've been dealing with this issue.

    My air conditioning unit was out so I made a claim to American Home Shield and it wasn't a great experience. I live in Southeast Louisiana so it's very hot and it literally took almost four weeks to get someone here to repair it. When I would call to speak to a supervisor, the representative there told me it was not their policy. So, the person who answered the phone insisted upon assisting me which didn't fare well for me. The other issue was after I called, initially, and they sent out a vendor, that vendor literally came to my house, did a diagnostic but never turned it in, and never returned so I had to call several times and insisted they send me another vendor.

    The other vendor who came out eventually fixed the issue. It was what the first contractor identified, so AHS gave him the authorization to fix it rather immediately. But he had issues getting the parts which was not his fault. It worked out in the end because my unit is currently working. Now, I have two holes with a leak in my ceiling from where they replaced part of the unit. I have texted the guy 'cause he told me if anything happens to call him but I've never heard from him. I'm gonna try to call him although I doubt it's gonna get paid for by him because with the story that he gave, he's like a little start-up struggling small business. I understand giving small businesses an opportunity. But what happens to the consumer when things like this fall apart? So, I don't know the quality of people that AHS is looking for.

    I'm fairly aggravated because I should not have to live in a home that is as hot as it was and the sense of urgency was not there. I pay AHS every month. It's deducted out of my account without fail and I literally did not receive any amount of customer service that I have gotten in the past or that I would have expected for something as critical as the air conditioning unit going out in the middle of the summer. Keep in mind that there were three different times I had to literally take off work to be here for the first vendor and the second vendor, twice, because the first time he came, he was in the attic, pulling the unit apart and then he got notified that the parts weren't in. So then, he had to come back a second day.

    My husband and I really have sit down to determine whether we're gonna keep the services or not because this experience, above all others, was my worst. I've never had a bad experience. And I got no satisfaction. So, the money that I'm paying American Home Shield, I can put into an account and save as a rainy fund to fix whatever happens next.
