I submitted a claim over the phone to AHS for my hot water heater because I wasn't getting any hot water. It's fairly easy for me to submit over the phone instead of going online. That day I called, the contractor called me as well and he was on his way. It was the quickest thing. I was very satisfied. I'm satisfied with American Home Shield as well.
Hi Katherine,

Our air conditioner didn't work and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone but I don't like the automated voices. I got frustrated with them so my wife handled it. We've used the contractor that they sent out quite a bit because it seems like he is the only one that knows anything about our air conditioner. We recommend American Home Shield all the time. As long as I don't have to deal with them, I'm okay with it.
Good Morning Karl,

When we came to our current location, a refrigerator was conveyed to us and it promptly broke down. We had problems at that point with American Home Shield as I was talking to somebody in the Philippines and they had a guy who was very unresponsive. I called him and he told me he had seven days to come. I canceled on him immediately when I checked online and found so many adverse comments about him. For that concern, we ended up not filing with AHS because of the guy they had. At that point, we were without a refrigerator and we were trying to get going. We flipped over and found out that we could get the compressor for a fridge from LG. However, it turned out that their guy couldn't get our refrigerator going anyway so we bought a new one. Even so, I don't know why AHS referred me to a guy that was 60 miles away and with a very bad reputation.
We had an entirely different situation the second time we sought service from American Home Shield. We bought a house that had been a rental and there were keys floating around all over. For safety reasons, we submitted a claim for a rekey job over the phone to American Home Shield. I got a contractor immediately almost the next day. The tech who came was very good and took care of business. He was very professional and gave me four sets of keys at no extra charge. Great service.

I filed a claim with AHS because the fan of my AC was going, but the AC wasn’t blowing any cold air. The temperature was set to 72, but it was 82 degrees in the house. The process was easy to me and A.R.T. Heating & Air came out within the next day. They were there for about 45 minutes, and I haven’t had any issues so far.

American Home Shield sent TruFix Repair out to service our request on the refrigerator. It wasn’t allowing any water to get through the thing in the water door. And on top of that, it kept leaking at the bottom and I was getting ice buildup on the bottom. American Home Shield's reps have always been really good. We’ve been dealing with them for quite some time. The guy from TruFix was very polite, very professional, and provided quick service. He went through what he did step-by-step. He had to order a part which we had to wait for, and as soon as the part came in, he called and set up another appointment, came back, and did it. My overall experience with American Home Shield was so easy. All you have to do is make the call, they take care of the rest.

I made a request on the 26th of July and Antech Appliances came out and fixed my icemaker. I had another service call that I made that day for an air-conditioning repair and that has been a terrible experience. The company was called Total Heating and Cooling. They came out and looked at the air conditioner, and they wanted to relocate the entire air conditioner. I said that I live in a condo-type building and there’s no other place to put it. There’s a pump that apparently needs to be replaced because there’s a drain issue and they’ve never gotten back to me. I called AHS and they told me to wait, and that the contractor would get in touch with me, which he finally did. But then after he said he had to order a pump, he hasn’t gotten back to me, and that’s been a couple of weeks now. I would have to call AHS back about that because the contractor apparently doesn’t respond.
There are some service techs that AHS contracts with who are fine and there are other service techs that don’t know what they’re doing or are non-responsive, or if you look them up on Yelp, they have a rating of 1, and that’s who the air-conditioning tech was so he’s pretty bad. So it’s kind of the luck of the draw with the AHS service techs.
Good afternoon Charlisa,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

American Home Shield's reps were great. They were very responsive. I filed an air conditioning claim, and the contractor actually called me on a Sunday afternoon to boot. They came in Monday and they were there on time and diagnosed the issue. They had to order a motor. So, they couldn't fix it till Wednesday, but it took them like 20 minutes to do it. It was fixed Wednesday. But they said, “We know where this motor is. We just have to go get it.” So, they communicated extremely well. If they would've had one on the truck, they would've put one on that day, but they wanna make sure they had the right part.

I made a claim that my washer was not working. At my request, American Home Shield sent a person to check it out. That person came on a Monday and said that they had to order a part and they would be back on Friday. They didn't come back on Friday so I had to call them on Monday. He said that the part hasn’t come in yet. Then he called me back later that day and told me that the part arrived and that I should make an appointment so I did that the following Thursday. They come out and supposedly replaced the control unit and the water shut-off valve but the washer still didn't work. They went back and did the report to AHS then AHS sent out another company for a second opinion.
The second one came out to the property and said that he had to replace the same thing that the first company said they were replacing. I tried to call the second company and I asked to speak to the technician who came out to the house and looked at the washer. The woman on the other line said that the guy was in the meeting and that she'll have him call me back. I waited three hours later and then I called the number back. I asked if the guy was still in the meeting and the woman said that she forgot to tell him and that she'll have him call me that time. Well, that never happened until this past Friday. And so, I explained to him that the part that he’s ordering is the same part that the first company said they ordered and replaced. He said he'd call them to find out but I still haven't heard back from him.
I already talked to American Home Shield and the guy sent me over to the purchasing department. The purchasing department said that they don’t have this information and that it would be best if I'd be at the property near the appliance as I wasn’t currently there when I first called, but I had been on hold for a while. So, then today I called back to see if I could get something resolved and I was on hold for 54 minutes. When I talked to the lady, she said they were still waiting on the part. I think there’s a bunch of confusion going on.
I’ve only made two claims since I’ve had AHS. The first one went okay. I just bought a dishwasher, brand new, but it wasn’t working, so I made the claim. I watched the guy come in the house, look at it, pull his wrench out, tighten the bolt up, and walk right back out the house. Not even five minutes. I still had to pay the $75. It has been working ever since. But I am dissatisfied with this current situation because with school starting back and all that, having to go and lug clothes to the laundromat when I had a washer and dryer in my home is just an inconvenience. AHS charged me the initial $75 but nothing has been resolved. We’re still without a washer for about almost five weeks now. They thought they fixed the issue but they never did.

The heating element of our dryer went out and the water valve of our washer was leaking. I made my claim online with American Home Shield and that worked okay. After a couple of days, an appliance company came to our house. They were personable and things went well. They did their work and explained what they did. They had to order parts then come back. When the door switch wasn’t quite working right for one day, I put a ticket back in. The guy came back and let me know what to look for. That has been working ever since.

My mother is happy with American Home Shield. Recently, there was a leak in one of the bathtubs in her house and there were two separate companies that came out and looked. The first company said that there wasn't a leak, and it was fine. Then we noticed it was leaking again so we called American Home Shield and they sent a second company out. They said that the bathtub was cracked, not to use it, and get back in touch with the home warranty. So, we called American Home Shield and they sent back the first company again which came out and found that it wasn't the bathtub. It was the drainpipe which coming from the bathtub that was cracked. They fixed it then came back and repaired the sheetrock that they cut out. They did a great job.
The first two times that we had the contractors weren't very good. It felt like that they didn't really do a very good job diagnosing or kinda communicating or taking care of any of the problem. The third time which was the same original company, my mother said that those guys were great. They talked to her and communicated really well with her. They were very friendly and they made sure to get everything taken care of. They got it rescheduled on their own to come back and do the sheetrock.

American Home Shield had somebody come out and checked my air conditioning unit because I didn’t think it was working up to standards. AHS took care of things promptly and had somebody out. It worked out pretty well for us. The technician was very professional in his service. He checked the unit and everything seemed to be okay. He tried to put a little bit of Freon in but that wasn’t helping anything. Overall, I was satisfied with everything that was done.
My impression was, and the technician kind of indicated this, I felt maybe my air conditioner was a little too small for my house. The technician said the only problem with trying to get a larger air conditioner had to do with getting the proper airflow. He said I could go up a little bit but I probably couldn’t do much more than that. That aside, his temperature readings on the outside temperature, the inside temperature was within spec. Everything was copacetic. It worked out very well for us. Also, there was no extra charge for extra Freon and stuff like that.

I made a service request online because I have a leaking pipe in my house and I had called to have a plumber come out to identify where the leak was and to fix it. They assigned me to the contractor, and then I got an email back that said I'd be contacted within 24 hours to schedule, but the plumber never called me. So, after two or three days, I started calling, trying to find out. I found out that I needed to reach out to him, that he alleged that he was unable to reach me, which was not true.
And so, after a week, we finally got in touch with him. He showed up at my house two weeks from the date that I submitted the request, and he spent literally three minutes in the house before he said there was no leak and this wasn’t covered. He then stormed out of my house. Since then, I’ve called three or four more times to try to let American Home Shield know that there is a leak. I then called a company to come out on my own and paid out-of-pocket, and they found a six-inch break in the pipe in the wall. I have pictures of it that I can email or send in. It’s a six-inch break in the pipe inside the perimeter of the home. I did not get it fixed. AHS said that they were waiting on a report from the plumber who came in for three minutes and stormed out.
Also, in the second and third time that I called American Home Shield, I requested a different plumber, and they said they could not do that until they had gotten a report from this man. And they actually tried to call him twice while I was on the phone, and both times, they said his voicemail was full and they couldn’t leave him a voicemail. I’ve been trying to work with American Home Shield to get this situation resolved, but I have not had a resolution yet. My entire kitchen is dismantled. The cabinets are out and the wall is open. I just need them to send a plumber who will fix the break in the pipe. It’s been over a week since I started calling, and I’m at the point where I’m talking to an attorney about what I need to do with it. I’ve had them for seven years and up until this incident, I would’ve rated them very highly because they’ve always been responsive and I never had a problem like this.
Good Morning Jessica,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

Sears installed a new hot water almost a year ago and I called them because there was no cold water. It was mostly hot water. They sent the one that installed it and he fiddled on every outlet of the water. That has nothing to do with all these outlets, but it’s the connection that they did over in the back. They could not find it so he just went around and fiddled everything until he got to the washing machine and made all kinds of things over there. Now, the knob in the washing machine is broken.
I had problem all weekend because it’s flowing. I was calling American Home Shield on a Saturday and they said they would call me in two hours to give me updates if anybody was coming, and they never called. So, I called back. It was another lady and she said they were looking for somebody that would come in within four hours. That would be 10 o’clock at night but they never called so I gave up on them and went on my own way. I called somebody else to come and do it because it was leaking in between the walls of the garage.
I told American Home Shield to tell Sears to call me. They left a message, but they never called. Sears is bad. They cost more trouble for me than installing that thing. They called this morning that somebody would come, and I said, “No. It’s too late already. Somebody’s scheduled, they’re on their way here.” I also had another issue in the past with some other company that American Home Shield sent for the kitchen sink. I even suggested to them they had to change the filter. I had the parts, but they wouldn’t do anything. They said I needed a new one and that was all they could say. They didn’t want to touch anything. I think they didn’t know what to do. There was one guy who was good. He was the one that suggested on the new water heater.

American Home Shield's online claims process is fairly easy and simple. It usually takes about 48 hours to contact me. But I'm usually calling them the next day because they take took long to call. I understand that if you call on the weekend, you have to wait till the next business day, but they don’t usually call the next business day. It’s usually the day after. But the service has been fine. But the air conditioning ordeal was horrible. We were without air conditioning for over a week and it was a 100-degree weather. The turnaround time was entirely too long, and we had to stay in a hotel.
I’ve been with American Home Shield since 2014, and this was the first time I’ve been very dissatisfied and considering going with another home warranty company because of how long that took for my air conditioning. It was because of American Home Shield not wanting to approve the work, and I’ve never had that happen. They were only gonna pay for one night at a hotel. This was very inconvenient, and the whole ordeal was ridiculous. I would not recommend American Home Shield. I was online looking at all of the complaints, and it looked like everybody from everywhere was on their Facebook page. Somebody needs to go look into that, complaining about their air conditioning being out and getting the same runaround being without air. So, there’s definitely a disconnect and a problem with the turnaround time with American Home Shield taking forever to approve the job.

We used the website to request service and the independent tech got a hold of us and fixed covered item. The issue is the third time, second time our oven went out. After the tech came and informed us the oven could not be fixed here is where the problem starts. We waited three days to hear from them and after no contact, we contacted them. We got a woman overseas that barely spoke English, had to call again, again got a woman who barely spoke English. We were told four different things about our issue.
After two more phone calls I finally got a rep in the states and was able to find out our oven was in fact going to be replaced. She could not authorize it tho as the replacement oven exceed her allowed amount but was under our contract amount. What? She had to get supervisor approval and promised to call us back before business close that day no matter what. Three based and business close came. I purchased a Home Warranty from American Home Shield (AHS) for $655.00 on July 11th. On July 18th as my central air unit was not working properly, I was so happy to have my new home warranty until I attempted to use it! Here we are almost a month and 33 calls later and my unit is still repaired! The American Home Shield is completely inept, very little is covered, there are fees associated with all services and they do not have enough qualified trustworthy contractors. Therefore I requested a refund of my $655.00 purchase price, within 30 days of purchase, but was offered a prorated refund of $439.00 because I used the service. I am not sure how 33 calls and two no shows by contractors (when I had to take off work to be home) constitutes using the service!
My recommendation would be to avoid American Home Shield at all costs, your money would be better spent tossing it out the window; at least you could see the joy on the faces of others rather than the frustration of calling repeatedly and being told you have to wait 24 – 48 hours for a return call only to receive that call 5 days later. American Home Shield is a disaster!

I have had an American Home Shield Warranty on one of my homes since 2017. While I cannot say I was overly impressed on prior service requests, the jobs were completed without complication. Recently I had really terrible service. In July I placed a service call request for a problem in two of my bathrooms. The inability for their call center to communicate in English was beyond frustrating!!! The representative I was speaking with could not understand what I was calling about. The service request was incorrect, and was cancelled right away, but still got charged.
I made another service call request, and none of the issues I had were deemed to be covered (a leaky faucet and a stopped up drain). I wonder if AHS will use the roughly 18% increase in their annual cost and service calls to improve their service. I SINCERELY DOUBT IT!!!! If you are considering American Home Shield for your home warranty – do yourself a big favor – go someplace else.
Hi Perry,

There were a couple of times that the AHS contractors came out. One time, our unit stopped working. They fixed it. They said they put a motor in it. They plugged a new motor in there but it wouldn't shut off. The contractor had to come out again. They ripped my old thermostat off the wall which pissed me off, put up a new one, but the issue was still not fixed. The unit still wouldn't shut off appropriately. They had to come back out again because the unit stopped working.
AHS's contractors were fine but I wish they would communicate better with each other. I feel like there's a history about this particular unit that I was surprised I had to fill them in on as opposed to getting dispatched. Since I was asking questions, I was able to kinda tell them what the guy before thought and tell them that the unit wasn't shutting off after they had left. They came in and they fixed it. I was thrilled. But 25 hours later, it was like this unit would not shut off again.
I called them to tell them and I was shutting the unit off because I didn't want an electric bill that was like $1,000. I was doing it by hand. I was shutting it on and off during the day then it just stopped working again. Those guys should have known to check that before they left and told me it was all fixed. In general, I have found the contractors to be polite and quick. I gave them better information and they continued to look for the problem. The problem was solved. They said there was something wrong with the relay board and it took them days to find the part for it. The unit has been working fine. since
There are times when AHS drags out some stuff that could have been done, but they don't wanna pay for the next thing. Two months later, I have to pay another 75 bucks and they wind up fixing the problem correctly. That was what happened with my pool pump. They had been telling me for two years that it was failing out. They kept replacing stupid parts. Finally, they replaced the pool pump this year. That could have happened like last year though so I didn't wind up paying $75 three times. It was the same with my air conditioning thing. I had to pay them multiple times. The technician guy wanted to do something different but we had to wait five days in over 105-degree weather to get a part. I went five days in such condition with animals in the house and no air conditioning.

Water Control Plumbing came out for the toilet. The water wasn't going down well and the tank wasn't refilling. I filed the claim over the phone and when I go over the phone, I like being able to speak to someone. And sometimes, it takes a bit of a while to actually speak to a human at American Home Shield. Initially, they had assigned me someone and that person didn't come. I put the call in on either a Thursday or a Friday and he was supposed to come Monday but he didn't. So, American Home Shield reassigned me an individual when I called. As to why the person had not come, they said that the call had been canceled.
American Home Shield rescheduled me someone and the person came out that same day. He was excellent. He was able to fix everything in one day. He fixed the toilet. My tub was dripping, but he fixed that also. He cleaned up after himself as well. After he fixed the initial problem, he had left, and I called back. He came back the next day 'cause he had to put another part in. I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield and I'd recommend them.

American Home Shield is so good, I would hate for them to ruin their reputation, but my most recent claim was involving Sundance Plumbing and I would never use them again. I had a plumbing break on my water heater. There was corrosion and it took them four days to come out to repair it. After that, it took them 10 days to respond back to me regarding the break. They are just horrifying because water coming into your house is not okay. 50 gallons of water ended up coming out of my house. I sell American Home Shield through Farmers, so it’s a big deal to me for my clients. Sundance Plumbing was also out to one of my clients and it took them two weeks. On a different note, I have another claim and it's for my refrigerator. Appliance Wizard replaced the ice maker and the valve, but the panel is out too, so they had to order that. You just don’t get the parts overnight and I’ve been waiting a couple of weeks for that. Still, that experience was great.

We bought the house back in February and American Home Shield came with it. The house is a little older so it had some stuff and anytime I’ve called AHS, everything has been taken care of immediately. The most recent was for my air conditioner. It stopped working on the hottest day of the year, so I put the claim in right away, and I got the text that someone is gonna get a hold of me within 24 hours. The guy’s number was there so I decided to call and he happened to be in the neighborhood. Instead of coming the next day, he was at my house within an hour and he fixed my AC. I never believed in American Home Shield and thought it was a scam, but it has come in handy. Now, I tell everybody about it, and I’m gonna re-up it when it comes due.

I love the company that AHS sent to work on my AC and I wouldn’t use anybody else. They’re excellent and the tech came out twice. The first time, he changed some kind of a valve and it started working right away. But two days later, it broke again. It turned out that it needed a couple of pounds of Freon and since then, it’s been working perfectly. Other than that, I didn’t get charged with $75 the second time. I also had another good experience with that company. They’re very professional and they’re not like these other people that would try to charge you more for the Freon. The payment for the Freon is separate from the service fee, so they tried to help me out. They made sure they fixed the AC without making me pay thousands of dollars for the Freon and I appreciate that.

The technician came, and he was very polite and professional. He took care of the problem and told me how I could deal with it in the future. Everything has gone fine with the repair made. However, I have one other issue: another contractor came and he made a repair on the leaking washer, but it is leaking again now. That was about 10 days ago, and I’ve been trying to reach them for three days and I get no response. Nevertheless, on the issue where TAZ came out, I was very happy.

The next day, they got back to me although I would have wanted it to be immediate. The contractor who was sent out knew his stuff and was very courteous. He let me know when he was about 40 minutes away so I would be there. Scheduling was a little tough because he seemed to be very busy but it worked out very well this time. I happened to be off work and he happened to have time open, so it all came together. He identified the problem immediately and had the parts available on his vehicle. The work was very clean and quick. It was very well done.

I’m completely satisfied. But I've had some claims in the past, and they were awful. The contractor that I was dealing with was trying to work the system to make money out of it. I caught one of them in a flat out lie. American Home Shield said my only repercussion against that was to take that contractor to small claims court, but I can’t afford to use any more money with this.

Since I found out about American Home Shield, I applied for their warranty and I've been with them for at least over 10 years now. Recently, I called them to submit a claim for our hot water heater issue and their reps did a good job. They referred me to JF Whitlow Jr. & Sons, gave me their phone number, and we kept in touch with them. Everything went okay and we had no problems.
When the tech first came out, I had a drain but he didn’t have the piece to put that on there, so he had to come back and see what piece was missing. Then, he had to order the part and come back and put it on. So, that took three visits and AHS charged me three times for it. So, I have to call them. They shouldn’t have charged me thrice for it. Other than that, the tech was a very polite gentleman and he fixed the hot water heater. All in all, it was an excellent experience and I was very pleased.

We ended up having RM Service Masters come out and they had to have an electrician come out as well. Both of the contractors they sent were really professional. The tech from RM Service Masters pulled out the stove and looked at it. He said the issue looked like it was electrical. He didn't do more to it and had AHS put in a claim for an electrician to come out. The electrician came and he flipped a breaker back on but the stovetop still wasn't working right. He somehow reset it and when he did, it started working again. He said that the issue could be that the breaker needed to be replaced and that he was going to put something in to have that fixed. However, I haven't heard anything since then. Still, going through AHS for my claim was a good experience.

The AC fan wasn’t coming on and circulating. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and the guy who came out reset the system. He turned it off and took the power off from it, and when he fired it back up, it started. But now, every time that the power turns off and back on, the AC fan doesn’t automatically come back on. We’ve been here almost a year and we’ve never had this problem before. So what I’ve been doing is cutting the main breaker, turning it off for about 15 seconds and turning it back on. Then the fan comes back on. But I’ve never had to do that before and we’ve had power outages.
My concern is that if there’s something getting ready to go out, why am I having to do this now? What if I’m gone on vacation and all of a sudden, it decides to do this and gets up to 100 degrees in here? I would also like to have had the contractor out over the weekend. It was over the weekend and they didn’t have an appointment until Tuesday. I also think that the guy had to dive into it a little deeper especially if that’s gonna continue to happen, but other than that, I was very happy with what he did. He was very professional and he was here on time. All in all, they did a good job.

Home Shield did everything when I called in and they followed up with the email as far as letting me know that they had sent out the email to the contractor. When I didn't hear anything from him, I called him that Sunday, which was around the time they had a storm. We had a little storm here and he was gonna try to get out that Monday while we were under curfew, but he didn't make it. He came on Tuesday and repaired the AC, but my air went out again on a Saturday. Then, the contractor remembered the house, so he called me back and asked what was going on.
I explained and he came out that Monday, but he had to order the blower fan for the AC unit. He tried to overnight it but he couldn't. The piece didn't come in until Thursday, but other than that, the contractor came out and looked at it. He did the best that he could and everything is good now. The whole process with American Home Shield was horrible. I bought my condo out three years ago, so I paid premiums with American Home Shield for the last three years. For the first problem I ever had, the process was very confusing for me. Originally, I called American Home Shield. They told me I had a service call I had to pay, so I gave them a credit card for that. I had the gentleman come over here to take a look. The water heater was leaking. I knew there was a problem and I knew I had to get a new one, but there’s a process to how everything is done.
The technician didn’t tell me there were gonna be extra expenses. Apparently, he spoke with American Home Shield then I get a very quick recording saying what I owed within 50 seconds. If I called American Home Shield to get clarification, the representative didn’t give me any clarification on it. I was confused. I was left thinking what was I supposed to do. I had to get the service done. They told me I had to call back the person who called me back. It took a couple of days for that company to call me back. I gave them my credit card, and they had to call American Home Shield to order the hot water heater. All this time, I was wasting time. I didn’t have hot water in my house for over two and a half weeks.
Finally the company said, “Well, maybe they can overnight it.” So, I called American Home Shield. Apparently, they ordered it and it took several days for it to arrive. During the time it arrived, I had to wait another week for them to put it in because they had other appointments as well. So every four or five hours I was taking buckets of water out. I had to take those big tubs to carry water out and dump it outside.
Then I get a call from American Home Shield and one of the managers was blaming me about the whole process, that I should have read everything and I should have known what was going on. I was the one making all the calls and he was blaming me, the consumer. He was talking about things that have nothing to do with my hot water heater. The communication was horrible overall. Then the guy has the nerve to say to me, “Well, now that you know the way everything works out, you know how to go about it the next time you use us." I was thinking how am I supposed to use a company who’s not gonna follow through on everything? It just was really bad. He was telling me that there was a cash out thing but no one explained anything to me. I was like a duck sitting out there with nowhere to go.
I can never refer anyone to American Home Shield ‘cause I wouldn’t feel right doing it with the experience I had. The issue finally got taken care of and the gentleman from the company who did the work did a good job, but it took a very long time. Not only did it inconvenienced me, it also inconvenienced my son who lives with me a few days a week.
Ross,
I understand you were not happy with the outcome of your experience with AHS. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

The only problem that I had was when I was connected to the purchasing department. Before I called the purchasing department, I've talked to the contractor and they said they submitted the report. They also said that either American Home Shield get somebody look at the compressor, or they can change the refrigerator since it's just a small refrigerator and it's not expensive. They ended up changing it. So when I called American Home Shield, they transferred me to the purchasing department. I wasn't happy with how the rep talked to me. He was telling me that the contractor who did the service did not submit a report, but I told him that I just finished talking to the contractor and they said they already submitted the report. As a matter of fact, we have sent several different families to them, and they have signed up with American Home Shield and are now using them.
When our AC went dead, we filed a claim over the phone. I was kinda disappointed in a way because American Home Shield was trying to contact the contractor, and they said that there was nobody answering the phone. And it just so happens that a good friend of ours who lives here in the hometown where me and my brother live told us about a contractor that was a good friend of his, and that all we had to do is call him up and he would come out and take care of the problem. So, we called the guy up. He agreed to come out and take care of the problem. And I came to find out that he was the one that American Home Shield has been trying to contact.
And so, I called American Home Shield and I told them, "This contractor is coming out to the house, and he happens to be on your list of contractors that you have been trying to reach," but it was after hours, it was on the weekend, and it just so happened to be a holiday weekend, and the contractor was not answering the phone. We called the contractor on his personal cellphone because he was a friend of a good friend of ours. So, American Home Shield from that point on went ahead and they sent us out the information that we needed, the work order number and everything else, and the guy came out and took care of the problem.

I contacted American Home Shield for a dishwasher repair and they got it handled. The contractor was excellent and it only took about 30 minutes for them to fix it. But sometimes I've had AHS send people that live an hour and a half away and that has happened and it’s very unreliable, because they’ll cancel and try to reschedule. And that makes sense because these contractors if they’re gonna come all the way out here don’t wanna do an hour and a half drive for just one customer, but that screws things up for me. So I have asked for a particular contractor that lives in the vicinity, and they’re reliable and consistent. The gentleman was out within two days for the air conditioner. He was very professional and really took his time in making sure that that was the only issue with the system. It now works perfectly. However, American Home Shield's online claims process is lacking in description. It generalizes and doesn't allow you to put anything specific.

We were having some issues with our air conditioning unit, and American Home Shield sent out Ryan Air Conditioning. The service tech replaced the coil and then he also had to replace 60 pounds of Freon in our outside unit. He was wonderful and very helpful. Everything's been fine since the repair. We haven't had any issues with it. The only thing is since we are in a mobile home, we had to replace all of the Freon. American Home Shield would only pay $30 per pound on the Freon, and it cost $60 per pound. So, it was $450. And we're not happy about that. I'm going with a different home warranty company that does pay for the full amount of Freon should that happen again.

I was having problems with my central AC so I called up American Home Shield. They set up an appointment and a contractor showed up. That took about 24 hours. I was good with the timeframe. It was the middle of the summertime and you can't expect anything better than that. The guy told me what he was doing and what the problem was. He took an outside part really quickly. It looked like a little coil. He unplugged the old one and plugged in the new one. The unit just fired right up. He took care of the problem within a few minutes. It worked out great. The AC works great.

American Home Shield's online process for submitting claims is easier to use than calling in and waiting in queue for someone to pick up. I most recently submitted a claim for a plumbing issue over the weekend and the contractor came out on a Tuesday. They’ve been out before on other service calls that I’ve had with plumbing issues and they’ve always done a great job and cleaned up after themselves. I haven't had any problems with whatever they fixed.

He also showed me what type of tools I needed.

We’re very happy with them. We always submit our claims online. It’s easy once I remember what my password is. As far as how they respond to the submission, it’s usually pretty quick. He came again to put it in and the process took only a four-day stretch overall including the weekend. He was fantastic and tactful. Going with American Home Shield was the best thing we've done. We're going to renew with AHS as we've had such a good experience. Before we had a warranty that was not American Home Shield and the experience we had then was not nearly as good. My AC unit wasn’t working properly so I filed the claim to AHS over the phone. The lady that works in the office was kinda rough when I talk to her but I like the young man that came out. He was really sweet and nice. He said the coils were blocked and it had never been flushed or cleaned. He's the one that’s been coming out here for the last year and so I asked him if he didn’t see that then. He gave me the option of either a water flush or a chemical flush and I said I wanted the one that American Home Shield would be paying for. Then I had to call him back the next day ‘cause my house was hotter and he had to add a little Freon. Overall, I had no problems with American Home Shield. I’ve been with them for a while now and I recommend them to everybody.

When I needed someone to check on the heat pump, I went to American Home Shield's site and put in a submission for it. But I didn't hear from anybody so I called them back and asked if they found anyone. It was hard for them to find someone out here because we have a geothermal system. I worked with them on the phone and we found the same geothermal system that we had before. They gave verification and I had to pay for a contractor to come out because there was nobody here that will work with AHS. The contractor said that they don't have time to go on the phone and wait 30 minutes for somebody from AHS to answer so that they can get approval to fix the system. It's a waste of money.
American Home Shield works great in a city but it doesn't work very well outside of it. We're in a small community on a peninsula with not many people. Contractors won't come out to us 'cause it's too far and they couldn't make any money doing it. We have to go outside of the system, which means we have to pay upfront, to get somebody to come out here. I'm dissatisfied. The heat pump ended up working out okay but the contractor won't do that again. We thought about renewing AHS but we decided not to because we have to pay straight upfront anyway.

American Home Shield is very good. They have been working on my claim for a couple of months trying to figure out what to do with it. And the appliance seems to run all the time. They didn't repair that, but the second technician repaired some of the inside stuff that was nasty and dirty and a couple of broken things. He had sprung the door so he had to put new hinges on the front of it. But I failed to remind him the thing runs nonstop. It's supposed to stop every once in a while. It fills up with ice so high then it starts melting, and it makes pool of water inside.
But I was very pleased with this young man that came out. He was very professional and fixed everything right, other than we didn't talk about the thing running all the time. So, I'm gonna watch it tonight and listen for it to see if it cuts off. But at one point, one of the other technicians had said, "I see that all the time. It just needs a whole new motherboard." Well, they didn't put a motherboard in it so American Home Shield had the second technician come out but it was from a different company.

My AC went out completely, so we weren’t getting any air into the house. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and I found it to be very difficult. The service provider was supposed to show up one day and he didn’t come. I had to call back several times to get the appointment date solidified. And then, the day they did come, they were supposed to call me ahead of time. They did not call. I kinda feel like I got a run-around on the coverage. I feel like the AC company was up charging. I feel like they were working in cahoots together.
Also, I didn't understand why I had to pay before they actually started the service. What if they were unable to complete the work that day? What if I’m not satisfied with the work? What if they need additional parts? So, they made me pay $1098 upfront that day before they even started the work. They told me they had to do some upgrades on the AC unit in order to bring it up to city code, which I found strange. That was one of the ways I felt like they were trying to get additional money out of me. My house was just built. It’s not that old.
They were able to fix everything on the same day. So, everything worked out. But I just thought their procedures that they have were a little questionable. Also, somebody had come out prior, and the person that came out to fix it wasn’t even the same person that came out to do the diagnosis. So, they communicated back and forth, and told the individual what was going on with it.
I’m thinking about cancelling the service because previously, they had it where you would pay your $85 service fee after the technician would come. Now, they have it where you have to pay it upfront. So, even though my technician won’t be coming out for a week, I have to pay my $85 service toll upfront. I believe that American Home Shield gives consumers a false sense of security. They kept telling me that they were following their procedure. They said in order to be a part of their contract, they have to follow certain guidelines.

On August 2, 2019 American Home Shield's AC contractor had deemed our AC in a 4BR rental as 'dead', and needing replacement. On August 8, 2019 when trying to get status of the new AC installation on the phone with AHS, they said they "just now" (6 days later) decided AHS wants a second opinion. The second contractor/opinion was done the next day, on August 9, and also agreed the AC was dead, and needed replacement. Today is August 14, 2019 and after a total of over 60 hours on the phone with them, our tenants STILL HAVE NO AC, and NO status.
(This rental unit is in the Phoenix, AZ area, and it is 100-115 degrees every day in July/August, with almost no exception. We have had this contract with AHS for over 12 years, AHS' contractors are the only service we've had. Prior to the call on Aug 2, 2019, AHS contractors had been out 5-6 times since April 2019 for the same AC unit, and each time it would be fixed for 30 min to 30 days only. So this has been going on for much longer than 2 weeks, and many co-payments.)

If I could rate them without any stars I would - long story short, a broken A/C on my rental in AZ in June, during a heat wave, took 2 weeks to finally resolve. During that time, I spent hours on the phone with AHS, accused of lying by the representative, transfer and drop, extended hold times while they were "researching". AHS put calls into the vendor but when I called, never had any notes that the vendor called them back or updated them. Never had any notes that the vendor even came out to my rental. I called the vendor myself to escalate. There was no follow up or ownership from AHS when they are the ones contracting with these companies.
If I chose to dispatch to another company I would have had to pay another service call. No help or follow-thru on their part at all. Finally after a week and a half and several more hours on the phone, I got a $30 credit and an allowance for a portable A/C which was nice, but it still would have cost me the difference out of my pocket and there was nothing I could find on short notice. The purpose of the home warranty is to avoid added expense out of my pocket - so buy a portable A/C because you contracted with a vendor that lies about the repair?
Side note - vendor said coil could not be replaced, couldn't find one, had to rebuild it. They came out on a Wednesday, but didn't determine that until the following Monday. Came back that Monday, took the part and said they will be back "sometime". Meanwhile calling AHS to get them moving, stay on top of it and nothing. They could do nothing about it but call and politely ask them for a status while heat advisories are being issued throughout the state.
Service call opened 6/1, vendor showed up 6/5, AHS didn't know that, never had any documentation from the vendor, my online portal never had any updates since 6/1. 6/12 still no updates - I called a friend that does A/C - said how long will it take to drop a new unit in... Tomorrow - 6/13, new unit installed, 6/14 the vendor finally contacts me to return the coil. I got a new unit installed in less than 24 hours and AHS couldn't even stay on top of this request it took 14 days without A/C. Also my tech called and checked for that evap coil, it was in the warehouse 30 miles away, the vendor they dispatched is either incompetent or didn't want to do the work since most vendors don't like working with home warranty companies.
I'm expecting a full refund from this company of my annual premium as I paid that premium to be provided a service and AHS provide ZERO service, I did all the work and it cost me time and money away from my job to be on the phone making all these calls. They are refusing to provide the refund, saying it dwindles over the length of the contract (it's almost over, thank God) and then charge me a processing fee on top of it?!
It's laughable the standard this company thinks they can hold themselves to. Just do your research, complaints are EVERYWHERE about AHS! After sharing on my social media, the amount of personal friends with negative impacts are surprising and I wish I would have known. For more information you can view my BBB complaint or anyone else's. Poor business practice, poor record keeping (never any notes in my call) and zero respect or support for their customers. There are groups out there trying to gather more complaints to shut them down, just google for like 5 minutes you'll find it all - DO NOT USE this company!
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

This is the worst experience I've ever had working with a company of any kind. Their customer service sucks, the only people who answer the phones are people who do not speak English or don't speak it well and I have gotten hung up on more times than I can count. It takes them a minimum of 15 minutes just to pull up our account because of the language barrier. I am having to spell each letter of our name and address over and over again and they still get it wrong.
They also all read off the same script so it doesn't matter what you ask they all say the same thing: "We are waiting on authorization from the authorization department" or "We are waiting for a detailed diagnosis from your technician". Even after the contractor had sent the diagnosis through email and over the phone, with me on the line with them as well, they still claimed they never got it and were waiting for it. I have requested several times to speak with a supervisor or manager and have been put on hold for over 15 minutes and then hung up on or they come back on the line and say, "There is no supervisor available."
I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy and to be honest I believe they try and frustrate you and string you along so that you get to a point where you are willing to just pay for it yourself out of pocket because it would be better than calling and dealing with them. This is the biggest scam and I don't know how they stay in business. I will tell everyone I know so that hopefully no one else has to experience this frustrating situation.

We had an air conditioning system that wasn’t working and so we initiated a claim online. I did it on my phone and the website was pretty easy to use. This was on a Thursday and Total Air Care said it would be the following Wednesday until they could come out. On Friday, I called them for an update to see if perhaps they had a cancellation, and they did. They ended up coming out on a Sunday and they fixed it Sunday morning. I had already looked at the situation and suspected that it was the contactor, and I told the technician what I had seen was the problem. He took it apart, checked it and said, “Yup, it’s the contactor.” He had one on his truck and put it in, and he was done in less than an hour. It was a very good experience.

We never knew about American Home Shield when we were in living in my mom’s house. It's highly expensive to replace things and American Home Shield is very helpful. It’s much cheaper to pay a premium for that than it is to replace something. I usually file my claim with American Home Shield over the phone ‘cause online never works. It doesn’t direct me to the correct information and to the correct person. For some odd reason, every time I try to look for my account, it doesn’t access my information even if I’m putting in all my information and the policy information. But when I call in, I like the fact that it’s real fast-paced. Nothing is too difficult to do. I’m glad they know what they’re working with.
Recently, we filed a claim because water was leaking everywhere. We didn’t know it was leaking water until we got the water connected on it. I left for the afternoon so the water was probably running for like six hours and our bill came out almost $200. When we got the water connected, it threw water everywhere. It flooded our entire garage. When the plumber got there, they said that the whole thing had to get replaced.

I had a refrigerator issue and it was making a horrendous sound. My freezer which is supposed to be frost-free was getting buildups of ice. There were icicles hanging down from that French door freezer. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and somebody was out within 48 hours. The tech who came out was phenomenal and timely. He listened, opened the freezer and said what was wrong. He said he would have to go back to American Home Shield because he needed to order a part. I've had this machine serviced three times through AHS and nobody's ever told me what he told me. When the part came in, he came out to do the work. That time, he said that the refrigerator was worked on before but then the previous tech didn't connect something which was why I was having freezer issues. He was very knowledgeable.

When I submitted a claim service with American Home Shield, it was painless. The website was easy to navigate and I just put in a couple pieces of information. But the notification was sort of confusing because I got two of them. It was weird because it said to expect the contractor to contact me within 24 business hours. It is a really strange statement because does that mean one full business day or three whole business days because business hours? But regardless, I got a call in two days, so it was fine. The contractor was a friendly guy. He seemed really knowledgeable, and he was able to chat and inform me. That was definitely what he was doing, which a lot of people don't, so he was great. Overall, I was able to get the work done, and I interacted with a quality contractor.

Our air conditioner was working fine but it was not cooling enough. I called AHS' 1-800 number and spoke with a representative who was able to help. South Cooling was our given contractor and I was given an appointment with a timeframe, but they never showed in that timeframe. They were not informed of the timeframe. The air conditioner is in a rental property. When South Cooling came, somebody opened the door and said everything was fine. South Cooling had to go there a second time.
They checked the AC and it's not really cooling the way it should. I’m really sorry for the tenant because it’s not nice that the AC doesn’t cool properly. The technician checked everywhere including the attic. He was pretty understanding but that was all he can do. I was charged a pound for Freon. The thing is that they said AHS would probably replace it if the unit was broken and it was not turning on. But the AC turns on. It looks like it’s working, but it’s just not blowing and cooling. Overall, I’m satisfied that AHS answers but not when it comes to fixing the issue.

That time, I figured I'd go through my home warranty so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. Doing that was super easy. Unlike the guy from the gas company, when AHS' plumbers came, they were super nice and were really informative. The spark wasn't broken and he got it to light right away. They also advised me as I have other things that were right in my house too. I'd recommend AHS to a friend.

Original Review: Aug. 14, 2019
I was able to do submit a claim online and the contractor called the next day. So, it was pretty quick. He did a good job fixing the problem. Also, I was with him the whole time, so he did a good job explaining stuff. There aren't any more leaks since the repair. However, I have a claim today but American Home Shield denied it, so I'm very disappointed with that. It’s something that has caused a leak in our ceiling, and they said, “We’re not gonna cover it at all.” It is from my refrigeration lines. They didn't have the installation on there that they should have.
They charge the $75, and then I totally lose it, then I had to pay the guy. Their contractors have the incentive to say it is not covered where I have to pay them. I got the message from the contractor, "And here’s my charge. I’m gonna charge you $285 to do the fix," which should’ve been covered in AHS to me. So, it is like a conflict of interest. Another problem is that American Home Shield did not call me directly. AHS should’ve called me and said specifically in the contract, “Here’s why we’re not covering it,” instead of them just saying, “We’re not covering it.” It’s really frustrating.
Good Morning Derryl,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

American Home Shield sent On Time Plumbing and Justin was absolutely incredible. He went above and beyond and was extremely professional. He did everything he could to make sure that we got the problem situated and got the water turned back on before everybody got home. He made it a one-day fix. He even had to drive all over Wichita to get a part.

I don't like how I get sent to other countries as I can hardly understand those people. It bothers the heck out of me. Still, the guy they sent from Tru-Way Appliances was really knowledgeable. My recent claim experience was a disaster. I’m probably gonna cancel my warranty with American Home Shield because I’ve had such an issue with my air conditioner. They went out three times and I have a guy coming out today from another company. I’m gonna pay out-of-pocket for it because the first time they came out, they said it was the capacitor. So, they replaced the capacitor and they put Freon in it. I had to pay for the Freon because the warranty doesn’t cover it. A week later, the same issue was happening again. American Home Shield sent out the same guy again, and they said it was the capacitor again. It was the wrong capacitor so when they replaced it with the capacitor again, it started working for about another week. I said, “This is ridiculous. Let me talk to your manager.”
It was bad with the contractors. I had told them to let me know 30 minutes in advance before they were gonna get there. I work and I needed my mom to have at least a heads up. She literally lives like 5 minutes away but they needed to call me in advance so that my mom would know when to go the house. The second time around, a guy named Jack showed up and he was like, “Well, I’m here waiting.” I told him they never called me and he said he could only wait 15 minutes and he had to leave.
I called the office and told them he needed to wait till my mom got there. He stayed there and my mom was just there to kinda let him in. She said Jack said it was the capacitor. I told my mom to let me talk to Jack. I asked, “So, what’s the deal? Why is the capacitor going out again? Why did you have to replace the capacitor again?” He said, “Look, it’s working, isn’t it? That’s all that matters, right?” I told him I needed to know what was going on because it was twice that this had happened in just a couple of days span.
That was when I called the office and spoke to the manager. He said, “Well, you have to understand, sir, that these guys are working long shifts. They start at 7:00 in the morning and they’ll finish till 7:00 at night.” I said, “But that’s not my problem. My thing is, we’re getting you guys to come out here to fix the air conditioner, and I understand you got a long day and it’s tough to work that kind of work, but that should be no excuse for him talking to me like that.” He kind of explained what was going on and said it could have been a faulty capacitor. I told him, “If you’re telling me the Freon is leaking and you’re having a replacement, you guys obviously didn’t fix the right problem because a capacitor wouldn’t be leaking Freon. It doesn't make sense.”
They said they were gonna send somebody out on Friday night. I was waiting and nobody showed up. I called the answering service and they got a guy to come out at 9 o’clock at night. It was a different guy and he said it was not the capacitor. It might be some sort of a leak. He said he was gonna warranty me three pounds of Freon. He also told me to talk to my warranty company to see if they could come look to see if there was a leak in my coil for he couldn’t find anything. He put Stop Leak in there, and it’s been working fine till last night. Last night, it started doing the same thing again. So, instead of calling American Home Shield then having them call that same company again, I just called another company to have them come look at it. It was a terrible experience. It was very unprofessional. They didn’t fix the correct problem. They fixed the wrong problem. And having made three visits, it is still not right.

American Home Shield assigned Appliance 911 to work on the refrigerator, and they were great. Bobby was the technician and he was outstanding. The claims process was easy, but American Home Shield needs to outsource their customer service receptionist to the United States and not overseas. I can’t understand what they’re saying. And because English is not their fist language, they cannot understand me every single time that I call to talk to customer service.
I called three times today, and it was the same thing with each individual. The first guy who tried to give me the runaround and said that according to their guidelines, my air conditioning issue was not a fire hazard or electrical hazard. And then, the second lady hung up on me. I finally got an older, more understanding, experienced, mature lady who understood. I explained to her that if it’s an electrical system, how is it not an electrical hazard and/or a fire hazard? I need to get it expedited to an emergency call because it has been out since early Sunday morning.

I love American Home Shield! They have been great. My most recent claim was for our AC that wasn't working. I do my claims with them online and navigating through their website is easy. I have no problems. On a normal claim, I'm told to expect the contractors out within three to five days. But when you're doing it in the summer, and the AC went out, I would like them to come within 24 hours. It's very dangerous with the heat in here. When the AC goes out, you can't live without the AC in AZ.
The contractor provided great service. He was professional. The communication was good because we knew when he came over. We had plenty of time to get ready. We received texts when he was gonna come, and he was on time. Everything was good. It wasn't a big repair at the time, so he didn't stay very long. He replaced a fuse on the AC that went out. One of the problems is the fuse going out was just a symptom of a bigger problem. A fuse went out about two weeks after that. And I don't think he realized that at the time, but he didn't have the information that I have now. Another company came out almost right away. And they did change the fuse, and during the process of fixing it, they needed a part.

I had a claim with AHS for my electricity in 2016 and I have not been able to resolve that yet. In December of 2016, the electricity went out in my whole house. I called AHS and their techs said that the issue was the main breaker switch and I had to pay for that 'cause they said it wasn't covered. Their tech fixed it on my dime and told me that he would text me the information. Life went on but then AHS is now telling me that my electricity issue wouldn't be covered either because I need the receipt from the tech so that I can mail it in that the issue was fixed.
I told AHS that I've called the guy four or five times and asked him to mail the receipt in to AHS. I'm assuming that tech is trustworthy since AHS sent him out. Now, I have electricity but I need somebody to verify if my issue would be covered or not if I have a problem with my electricity. If it isn't covered, I need to drop my membership with AHS and get with somebody else where my electricity is covered.
More recently, I hit the button for my garage door but it wouldn't open. The motor went on and it sounded like it was turning but then it would only go so far up and stop. Sometimes it would open and sometimes it wouldn't. I called in a claim for it to American Home Shield and spoke with a nice rep. The contractor sent by AHS, Gabriel's Garage Doors, was fine. Since then however, they've already been out three or four times for the garage door. I asked if they were fixing the door 'cause I've been with Home Shield for years and had that door for years too. AHS and their contractors are the only ones who do maintenance on it. This time the tech who came did something with the sensors. The last time, the issue had something to do with the motor.

I cancelled my last contract without using any of your services, so according to your "if I cancel my agreement after 30 days, and no service has occurred, AHS will refund any portion of the agreement price paid to date." I have been trying to reach out your company and I was told that I should be getting a refund but I still haven't received a penny. It has been a few months now and I'm getting impatient.
The funny thing is just before that call I made to your customer service, everything was perfect with your company. I didn't have any issues and the services was great. But I was treated so poorly and in a rude way over the phone by one of the employees that I decided to take my business somewhere else. What is even crazier is that I was only calling to update the credit card on file and add 2 more houses I just purchased and call to speak to someone on the phone.
The first person I spoke to was rude, didn't let me finish explaining, cut me off, so I asked to speak to someone else, she refused and told me I can only speak to her. Asked for a manager, again didn't want to put one through. So, I told her if that was the case, she can go ahead and cancel my contact, which she did. I took my business somewhere else but still need the refund for all those months I paid without using your services. It is a shame that one person in your company had the liberty to act like that and there is nobody to talk to or report it. Anyway, I just need my refund before I take any legal actions. Thank you.

American Home Shield is the most common insurance company for home buyers to be talked into at closing. They "claim" that if anything happens to your house in the first year they will fix it. That is an absolute blatant LIE! Please do yourself a favor and make sure you read the full contract before you pay the $900. Any time you call them you are charged a $75 service fee. If you need to call for two things at the same time they will charge you $75 for each item. That pretty much covers the cost of you calling a technician yourself. If the broken item is ANYTHING beyond a simple fix they will quickly point out that your contract does not cover anything beyond basic repair. We have a clogged sink drain. They said an unlicensed plumber who told me he was 24 years old to the house. This guy was very nice but could not figure it out. So he had to come back the second day with a bigger snake (the one he had was from Home Depot).
That snake did not work so he had to come back after the weekend with a camera.... None of these things are on his truck because it was a small company. He could not get the camera in far enough to see anything. I then suggested they clean out drain on the side of the house. He opened that and could not get auger or camera to go further than 2 feet. His then professional opinion was that they needed to rip out the entire one side of the kitchen, including granite counters, pull up the tile, cut into the concrete and look for the clog that way.
I called American Home Shield to request a second opinion and was told that I would have to pay for that and that they do not pay for any of the repairs to cut into the floor or to put the kitchen back to the way it was. They were only paying for the first kid to come out and guess that it was too hard. This was an upsetting and frustrating experience to say the least. Al from AHS REFUSED to let me talk to a supervisor and told me that he was the highest level of authority that customers can talk to. He then told me that they are protected by the contract and there was nothing more that they will do. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

I am still waiting for my AC to be repaired - going on day 10 with the expected temperature to be 100+ degrees tomorrow. I have been a customer for 15 years and generally have not had issues with AHS and its contractors. This time, however, has not been great. The contractor showed up within two days, and AHS approved a complete replacement of the compressor shortly after. But for some reason, AHS chose to use the slowest shipping method, so it has taken over a week for the part to arrive - and I will still need to wait for a second appointment for the actual repair.
The worst part is that no one called to tell me that I would need to wait so long - not the contractor or AHS. I only learned when I called AHS, after multiple messages left to the contractor with no response. The AHS customer service agent had no authority to deal with service issues, and she refused to connect me with a manager when I asked. I am angry and hot with no actual repair date even scheduled yet!
Good Morning Tracey,I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I have sent an email to you regarding the resolution of your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

My central A/C stooped working on 8/8/2019. Immediately raised service request and appointment was set up next day. It was great I thought, and this where my nightmare started. Contractor company person came late. This was beyond his 4 hr window. We could not attend due to other priorities. Contractor tech was so rude and totally unapologetic being late when we spoke over the phone. I requested AHS to set up new appointment and took 3 days to set up new contractor appointment. It was set up after 4 days. It's summer and it's hot. I had to call contractor and requested for earlier appointment and they were nice to come on Saturday. They requested authorization for new parts on Saturday after initial inspection but AHS has still has not approved authorization after 3 days.
When called just now, they said it will take another 6 days to approve. Talked to escalation point but gave same information. Contractor will have to get part after that and fix it. Estimated time to fix A/C will be another 2 weeks!!!! I hope my service request will be fixed asap. **. Worst thing during this experience is, AHS customer service agents give wrong and incorrect information which is most frustrating. I have two home contracts coming for renewal. Why should go to AHS.. No way. Above experience is not only one for this service request. Most of the service requests I had to go through this.

Run around for over 3 weeks and still no follow up appointment!! We have been waiting for nearly a month to get our AC fixed. After 10 calls we still don't have a date of repair. Living in Louisiana in the 100+ degree heat and each call they either want to transfer us to a different department or say they will call us back. My 70 year old father lives with us and to subject an older person to this heat is almost criminal.
It surely seems that since they have found an issue they are avoiding us like the plague so they don't have to make the repair. STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD! My final call I asked to speak to a manager and the rep hung up on me. Please stay away from this company. Save your money, or simply burn it because that is the essentially the same thing when dealing with American Home Shield.
Good Morning Marc,

AHS is always quick to respond and send someone out when you file a claim. They were great and easy to use with my dishwasher. But this rating comes from the most recent experience with my air conditioner. They keep sending the same person to look at my air conditioner and they are just band-aid fixes. They fixed the problem of the unit turning on but my house still won't cool. And I am told that everything is fine. I am left with high electric bills and a house that struggles to cool. This is more of an issue with the company they send, but I wish AHS would send someone else. Very frustrating.

I'm extremely frustrated with this company and process. I've been waiting 2 months for a washing machine to be fixed. I've dealt with 2 different contractors. The first I was advised didn't service my area, then they never should've been assignment to me initially. That would’ve saved time. I keep getting supervisors who can’t give me direct answers when I call. I’ve asked for a manager (a supervisor’s boss) to contact me and it’s yet to happen. I pay not only monthly, but a $100 deductible. I don’t understand why it took 2 weeks to order a part. There is no sense of urgency. I’m told parts can’t be expedited to be shipped. I’m told there’s no ETA on part arrival. Where is the follow up for your customers? Do you work for the customers or the contract companies? I could’ve purchased another washing machine if I’d known it would take 2 months+ to have this one fixed. I’m looking into another company because I have not had much luck at all and it’s infuriating!

I've had AHS in my primary residence (Tennessee) for 8 years and my rental home in California for 18 years. WAY different experience & it all has to do with the integrity of the contractors. In CA, it's difficult to find a trusty-worthy, reliable contractor (like finding an honest mechanic) so most claims get denied. Contractors know before they arrive that they are getting paid less for a call covered by AHS and walk in looking for a way to get AHS to deny service. No joke, 4 out of 5 times the contractor reports the issue dishonestly, AHS denies coverage, then the contractor gives a quote to do the service directly with them without AHS coverage.
Totally different in TN. Contractors come out and fix the prob 4 out of 5 times. A couple times a contractors even told me AHS would deny the claim because of X, Y or Z but that it was a quick, simple fix and they were going to go ahead and do it anyway. I kept the contact info for those contractors and call them first if I need service that isn't covered by AHS. I'm canceling my membership in CA as it makes more sense to save the premium and $75 "co-pay" and pay for service directly.
Good afternoon Heidi,

The dial pad on my dryer broke. I called AHS and told whoever it was that I needed service. They just said okay. I’ve been with AHS for 10 to 12 years now and I’ve never had any problem like that. Valleywide Appliance Repair was our given contractor. Their technician was very nice and good. He took care of the issue and ordered another dial pad from Tucson. It came in after a couple of days. We took the old one off because it was cracked and we couldn’t use it. The new one was put in and the dryer is operating perfectly.
Contractors usually need to be paid for a service call upfront. But the technician who came didn’t ask for one and I didn’t give it a second thought. He also didn’t leave an invoice with me or a bill of what he performed. I haven’t heard anything from anyone. Since no one called me, I just let it go. I don’t know why I'd be billed for his services when it was covered under my contract. I’ll watch my bank statement when it comes in and if there is one in there, I will call AHS. Other than that, I’d recommend this home warranty.

I submitted my claim online for our air conditioner, but then I had to call several times and talk to an associate about it. What we thought was the problem did not cover all the issues with the AC. We got bounced around to several different companies that would not do work on that part of the AC system. They were saying that the parts weren't covered, even though there was a miscommunication between the insurance company and the repair company that were not talking well to each other especially on the AC side.
The last conversation I had with American Home Shield, they were going to reimburse the service fee charge. Then, I'm going to have to pay for everything else out of pocket until I figure out what is actually going on -- the problem that we're having is we have a zoned system. The first company that came out said that the problem was with the ductwork. When I requested it online, I thought it was just an AC, but it was the actual system itself. And the company that was assigned for the claim didn't do anything with ductwork. So, they refused to do any further diagnosis or work on the system.
I had to re-call American Home Shield once that cleared and got another company out about three days later. And then when they saw that it was a zoned system, they refused to even look at it, diagnose and touch the system because they said that with zoned systems, they had insurance companies not pay anything multiple times. So, if it's a zoned system, they won't even touch it through an insurance claim even though a zoned system is covered underneath the policy. Finally, we ended up canceling the claim and getting reimbursed. I haven't got it fixed yet and I'm figuring out how to do it now because AHS has been less than helpful trying to resolve the issue. And, they keep charging me service fees instead of sending a company out to do a diagnosis. Two months ago, however, I also had a claim for a pool and we had no issues with the service.

American Home Shield sent a mechanic to repair the washing machine and he wasn’t able to do it. He was polite but he said it was the water pump and he had to order a part. It took about three weeks and I kept calling to find where it was and when it was coming in. He came and replaced the part. As soon as he left, I washed a load of clothes and it did the exact same thing. If it was the water pump, he should have made sure that the water pump goes all the way through, and that’s what he didn’t do. He also told me it was the detergent that I was using. I have to use a certain phosphate detergent, but we were using the correct detergent. So, it wasn’t that.
AHS sent another mechanic and he knew exactly what the problem was. He said it was the panel control and he had to order it, which took a long time. I kept calling him and he said it hasn’t come in yet. Finally, I called him again and he said they don’t make the panel control for that anymore. So, I would have to call AHS back. They explained to me that they were not able to fix the machine, and told me to go ahead and get another one. I went to Best Buy because I wanted to go in and look at it. I didn’t wanna see it all online and I’m not good at picking out stuff online. I’m now just waiting for my reimbursement check and I already called them and gave them all the information. I found a good one, but it was less than what AHS allowed me. I would still recommend AHS because they actually got it resolved.

We have two compressors in our house, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. The motor burned out on the upstairs compressor which is an outside compressor so I called American Home Shield. They sent out the technician and he confirmed what I knew already. He had a motor on his truck and was able to replace that motor right away. It was all done within a day. I submitted the claim on Monday, and within 24 hours, the company called and set up our appointment.
The claims process is very simple. The individuals know what they're doing online. You're able to submit their claims that way. It’d be easy to submit a claim if you called in, but it’s easy if you do it online. You don’t have to worry about getting confused or getting any miscommunications. There's ample space to put in any type of conditions or any type of issues or special issues that need to be addressed.
The technician did advise us, when he was out, that the AC units that we have are old. They’re original with the house, so that does mean that they are gonna have new replacements here because R22 is not gonna be available any longer. So, we are already looking at replacing those units. Now, we have to replace the outside units, the inside units, the evaporators, and also the furnaces because they're all tied together. It's two cool systems I will have to replace next year.
American Home Shield doesn’t cover that but I already appreciate that. It’s just like you bought a car that runs on leaded gasoline. Now, over time, the EPA said, “No, leaded gasoline is not good for the environment.” So, now you can’t use leaded gasoline anymore. You have to use unleaded. Does that mean your car insurance is gonna pay for a new car for you? No. So it was a very good experience. I was very happy with it. We have a monthly payment that we have to make but we don’t use it that often. It is quite expensive but it’s just like your automobile. You pay for the automobile insurance but you don’t get claims on it that often.

Then this weekend, the whole system froze because the lights next to the fan, which switches the fan on and off, stays stuck, which caused the whole pipeline to freeze. When the AC went down, it affected a lot because I have a newborn and I run my business from the house. Weather Guard contacted me very promptly and I did not wait more than a day. They were very professional. They told me what was happening and they always kept me in the loop. As of now, it’s working good. Hopefully, nothing else happens.

We recently moved to Southeast Texas. We're from Southwest Louisiana, used to the heat, much larger home and high ceilings. The wife was wondering why the air conditioner wasn't getting as cool. She was putting it around 68 degrees in the middle of noon when it’s 90 plus degrees outside. The house wasn't getting to 68. The technician AHS sent called us the day before, saying when he was coming out. And he also called the day he came out, about an hour or two beforehand, letting us know he was on his way. He came back and followed up, and double-checked on it, called me beforehand, and I told him nobody was home. But he said that he didn't need anybody at the house to check the outside unit. He made sure everything was still doing good. He was a very professional guy.
The fact that it was cooling the house to 70 degrees when it's 99 outside was spectacular. He checked all the levels and all the components. We even ran a diagnostic on it for a week, and everything on it was working perfect. I submit my claims with AHS on the phone because I'm always on the road and it's easier to be on the phone. But sometimes, you don't get a person, it's after-hours, so then I default to doing it online. And the online process is fairly straightforward.
This is my second time using Home Shield. I had them for three years with my previous home. I used it for a couple claims. And I had a claim before the HVAC claim when we had a waterline leak, and nothing on the fine print had mentioned anywhere, that I read, that plumbing outside the home wasn't covered. If I had been made aware of that, then, I wouldn't have had to pay the non-refundable service fee, and then have to pay the plumber out of pocket for the repair. So, I kinda threw away $100. But other than that, everything has been great and straightforward.

Our air conditioner is not functioning properly. It doesn’t cool enough and it’s hot outside. I contacted American Home Shield, then they referred me to a person that services air conditioning in my area. They had given me a timeframe, but I had to contact them again. Because I never got a call. But when the contractor arrived, it was good. But my issue was with AHS was that they don’t cover services like they say. I knew I had to pay for Freon, but then, with the parts that had to be ordered, I had to pay extra fee out of my own pocket. And what was the perks in having an insurance? That’s crazy to me, especially when it’s not functioning properly. ‘Cause the whole thing really needs to be replaced ‘cause it’s old and outdated. And it was recommended by the technician that it’d be replaced.
So, they sent AHS all the bill and AHS sent it back to them with only paying a little bit of the money, not even half. So, I have to come out of my pocket with a whole lot of money. So, I was like, what is the purpose of keeping AHS if they don’t cover a lot of things? And then I shouldn’t have to pay that much out of pocket when I have insurance. That’s why I basically bought that insurance so that when I moved in my place, I would have coverage in the event that something’s happening with either of those units. And it just so happened, it did. But AHS didn’t come through as I thought. So, it was just poor judgment on my part in selecting them. I’m really upset about that. Their services are really useless. There were some leaking pipes underneath our sink and the faucet as well, and I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. The contractors were out within two days from the time I placed the request and they did a good job. We had to call them back because one of the pipes that they addressed was not properly sealed. So, they came back in a couple of days from the time we called and they fixed the pipe. It’s good that there has been no leaking since then. They tried to tighten the faucet but it’s a manufacturer’s issue. They explained that the way the insurance works is to replace it. So, we have to request that through AHS and that they would provide the same faucet. We’ll probably just buy the faucet that we want and install it ourselves or have the contractor come back and install it.

There hasn't been an issue that wasn't worked out in the two years that I've had American Home Shield. My most recent claim was for my refrigerator. It wasn’t cooling and the contractor came out. They determined a part was needed, submitted a claim, and came back a few days later to put the part in. The refrigerator has been working fine. I would recommend American Home Shield to someone.

I recently got the house and as I started to do some minor repairs in the house and painting and stuff, I found out that there were a few plumbing issues. So, I put in a claim with American Home Shield online, and then the plumbing company came out. What AHS said ended up a little wrong in terms of predicting how long it would take. They had like 24 business hours, which is basically, three days, and I didn't hear from them for at least five days. And I'm actually in the same boat at the moment. I submitted a claim on Monday for another one, and I haven't heard from any contracting company yet. It says to wait, and if they don't contact you, to call them.
But the contractors who fixed the plumbing issue were great. They did a great job. All the plumbing has been fine. They had to put in a new water heater because there was something with the one that was already there. I also had to add an expansion tank and replaced some piping because they had to kinda bring it up to code when it comes to water heater code in the houses. The stuff that was there was kinda outdated because the house was built in '74 and all they had was a water heater. They didn't have an expansion tank or any of that. So, they really helped me get that into a better spot.
Then I ended up having to pay more. But I understood I had to pay more parts and labor because they had to get the replacement pipes and the expansion tank. I totally didn't have a problem with paying that, I just didn't think I was gonna have to. And so then, I had to go into town to the bank and get the money out so I could pay them. But overall, AHS is good. I would recommend them.

The technician from Hinco Services was awesome. He did my washing machine and I felt I could count on him. I don’t like being in my house without my husband when we have workers in the house, and we’re very comfortable with him being in the house. The same goes with the plumber that comes out. However, I will never ever use American Home Shield's phone service. We call and we get in touch with the Philippines. They might speak English but they don’t have the same verbiage we do, English-wise. They interrupt. American Home Shield needs to start putting calls back into the United States to keep our people employed. We have disabled veterans that need jobs.

My most recent claim to American Home Shield was for a compressor on a central air conditioner unit and I did it online. I got a call back from the company in two hours. It was really quick. The rep was very easy to deal with and had great communication skills. The interaction was very good. There were four visits from the contractor and two main techs from the company, and it was extremely good contact. I worried that I would be handled in a dishonest way because I’m a single elderly woman and it’s a big problem, but I felt very comfortable after talking with them. They took the time to answer all of my questions. However, I had trouble finding an answer from American Home Shield. I tried by phone and I couldn’t get to a person who could help me. With an air conditioning unit, there are things that aren’t clear from the contract about what they do and don’t do.

My house got very warm and I noticed that my thermostat was on. Especially after 12:00, my thermostat would get to 78 and 80 degrees in the house but I had it on 72. And when I walk in the back of the house, in the two bedrooms, it was very hot. And I thought something's not right. So, I called AHS. I had called about a month before when the air conditioner just stopped. No air, nothing. So, when I called them out again, the contractor came in and said that my compressor was gone. So, they put a compressor in.
The guy this time found out that there was no Freon. And I thought that was strange because they put Freon in around the end of May. I said Freon shouldn’t leak out that fast. So, he went out and checked the unit again, and he said I have a leak inside of the unit. And he said that the hole has gotten larger. So, that prompted him to do what’s being done right now. They’re supposed to come out today and I hadn’t heard from them. But he called me yesterday and said they're coming out and replacing the unit.
So far, I’ve been very pleased with American Home Shield. And I just recommended it to my daughter and her husband cause they asked me about them and they were looking for someone. I said to try American Home Shield. So far, I’ve had no problem with them. They’re very courteous and very professional. And every time a person would come out, I like the way they explained everything that they did. So, overall, I’m very, very pleased.

When consumers buy their warranty, they should know exactly what is covered and what isn’t covered. When I had an AC issue, I submitted a claim with AHS over the phone and their rep was good. Then the contractor came out and assessed the problem quickly. But ordering the parts needed for the repair was a little process in itself. After the initial problem was assessed, the contractors came out two weeks later. They communicated well with me and their work was great. But there was a little confusion on some of the things that the warranty covers and won’t cover. The technical part of my issue was covered but the Freon wasn't. It was so expensive and I spent almost $800 in Freon out of pocket.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with AHS. It is stated in your contract that AHS will only cover $10 per pound on refrigerant. We were having a problem with our fridge as the fridge side was freezing over. I initiated the claim online with American Home Shield. The process there was really easy. The first contractor sent by American Home Shield, The Appliance Guy, was horrible. They didn't do anything and just told us to defrost the fridge. If it didn't work, we were told to call them in 60 days. When we had problems with the claim, I called it in and told AHS I was very unhappy with the first contractor. They tried getting The Appliance Guy to come back out, but they couldn’t get him, so they routed me to this other contractor.
The second contractor they sent, Premier, actually took time and diagnosed the problem. He called me beforehand so that I could give them an idea of exactly what the problem was. I explained to the guy whom I was speaking with that we were having this problem for about a year and that in the past, we had defrosted the fridge and the issue persisted. We’re really happy with Premier. Since they repaired our fridge, it has been working fine.

The claims process online was easy. I just put in the claim then I got contacted within 24 hours. The contractor was a nice guy. He showed up and looked at the ice maker. Unfortunately, it needed to be replaced, so he ordered a part then got back with me once the part arrived, and he came out and installed it. With regards to the air conditioner, the first person who came turned out not to be qualified to work on my specific system. Apparently, they call it more high-tech, and he wasn't specifically authorized, so I had to get somebody else. The process of switching between providers wasn't that bad. It was resolved but it would be good that AHS knew if they were selecting a provider if they had a specific thing they couldn't do. I tell people all the time about American Home Shield. I’m really unhappy with American Home Shield. They beat around the bush with my claim and it seemed to be to say they were unhappy because I went with somebody besides the service company that they chose to send to my house. It was very close pricing. But somebody else came up with a better quotation and a better sounding plan so I went a different route. After that, I was told that they would pay me through a buyout-type situation because I didn’t go with their service company. They said they’d give me back up to 10% of the cost and I'm not happy with that. What if they had to put a roof on my house? They’re gonna pay me what, $800 out of an $8,000 job? I don't know that but that’s an estimation based on experience.
When a company you’re paying warranty to gives you 10% of the cost of solving the problem, you really wonder whether you should be dealing with this company or not. It’s no wonder insurance companies are super rich because they don’t seem to do much of anything except collect. On top of that, the payout is actually a lot less than 10% when you figure the interest over the payout time. That’s not fair at all. I really don’t even know if I'm ever gonna get the payout, based on the way they talked and the way they acted. When I asked them if I had to send more information, they told me no and I can’t believe they don’t need more information. They should have to have proof that I did replace the system and that I bought something.
It was on my plan to call the company again and find out where I stand. I’d like to know if they’re actually gonna give me this buyout or not, and when I can expect it. Everything seems to be up in the air and that's it. I definitely am gonna think very seriously about somebody else to handle my warranty. American Home Shield left me up in the air. But they're a warranty company. They don’t care. They’re spending your money and my money. They’re not spending their money.
On the other hand, the contractor who came out from American Air Conditioning & Heating Company was very good and efficient. When the young man walked up to the machinery, he immediately said it had to be replaced. After that, he said he would check something and then he said the compressor was out also. He looked at the entire system inside and outside the house. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said the company would tell him to replace the compressor. He spoke very honestly. But in three months, the gas was gonna be obsolete. He said that I would be able to get gas but it was gonna be snuck across the border and it would probably be about $200 a pound. The warranty company is gonna pay $10 a pound? I'm not gonna do that. That doesn’t make sense at all.
You have to use your head and think about the future. You replace a compressor but you’re not really buying a whole lot. So I asked the young man to give me a quote on replacing the entire system because it's about 20 years old. He gave me a quote but of course, I got other quotes. And I beat his quote and on a machine I liked better too.

The DE powder is put in the filter and it's supposed to stay in there but it was blowing back into the pool. I tried to fix it myself. It helped but it didn't fix it and so I submitted the claim. I went to the AHS website and it's pretty good. I can go there and it asks for other information that I would typically have off the top of my head which is convenient. I don't have to go dig up account numbers and I can find my account. Then I can choose through a list of things of different pieces of equipment around the house it pertains to and that seems to work pretty well. I get an indication in the email that says when I should expect to be contacted by contractor and that's usually within 24 hours.
The first time that Watertight Pools came out, they did a crappy job. I specifically went back to the person who did the work and explained to him how it wasn't a good job. He came a second time and ran through a test, and did a good job. However, the issue is not 100% solved because there are multiple problems going on so I submitted a second claim. When he came out for that, which was his third visit out to the house, he did a good job too. Overall, I've been pretty pleased with it.

The air conditioning would not work. It would not put out cold air. It had a leak in the line somewhere and we were losing Freon. My wife did the claim over the phone and American Home Shield sent Sierra Vista Plumbing who did a great job. Based on American Home Shield, which I'm really not happy with, Sierra Vista Plumbing did one piece at a time on this air conditioner, trying to get it to work because American Home Shield would not approve what Sierra Vista Plumbing said they needed to get the job done and get it done right.
As a result, nine weeks later, in this temperature with the heat out here, we had to put up with that heat (we're in our 70's and I have a respiratory problem) because American Home Shield would not give Sierra Vista Plumbing the okay to do what they needed to do to get the job done right. Finally, we ended up with a new unit after all that. They did all the repairs that needed to be done. They did the valve yesterday and everything's working fine right now but I don't think I'd use American Home Shield again as a home warranty company.

I was using a liquid type and the tech told me that for these type of dishwashers, I need more of a pod. Also, he recommended me some products to help clean out the dishwasher. And since he came out, I changed stuff and I haven’t had problems with it. So, in a way, that helped me understand our dishwasher better.

When the technician had came out to fix the AC, I noticed that it still wasn’t cooling. I’m still having a problem. I still haven’t got it resolved yet. When I call American Home Shield, I’m mainly speaking to people that don’t really speak English because I could tell they’re Asian. And they always get my information twisted around. One example was when I filed a complaint for my swimming pool, and all along, they put in my pool pump when I never told them it was my pool pump. I had a big issue with that. It took me about nine months to get my swimming pool fixed because they kept putting the wrong information in.
When I called American Home Shield again to tell them that the AC was still not cooling right, the rep told me that I need to be specific on which rooms are not cooling. I told her that I called because my whole AC is not cooling. Why do I gotta tell her which specific room? And then the contractor came out and fixed it. Then they said I needed coolant in it. Put in a repair order on July 29th for problem with our range. Received a call 2 days later after making 2 calls and stated would be out in 2 days. Did not show until 5:30 PM. Stated there was nothing they could do to fix it and the contractor called AHS with findings. Was informed they would be calling me to discuss options. Never heard anything. After 2 weeks of trying to get info, they have now given me a new number to call which after two tries and sitting on hold for 2 hours each still and still have not been able to talk to anyone just listen to the recording. No way to chat online, no way to leave a message and no way to email to get someone to call me.
Steven, I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I will follow up with you in an effort to assist you with your unresolved matters regarding this request. Thanks for your patience.

I posted a negative review last month and gave them one star. However on August 21, 2019 West Coast Chief Repair came out and replaced the compressor in my refrigerator. Thanks for escalating my problem and helping me out. Rate both you and the repair company 4 stars.

AHS sent West Coast Chief Appliances out on 7-31-19. Tech said condenser coils blocked by dust, needs to be cleaned. $150.00 to do it. Bad back can't do it today or buy air compressor. Report to AHS that nothing was wrong with my refrigerator. I made several calls to AHS, no help. They can send another company, if nothing is wrong I pay another 100.00. After a report on Yelp regarding West Coast Chief, the service manager called me, they sent a tech out 8-12-19 to clean the coils, used a brush, just like I did, did mention something about the compress. His English was bad. I called West Coast and they are going to get back to me, AHS customer service is terrible. I would never recommend AHS to anyone and I have 200 plus condos where I live. When you call AHS for service you can never speak to anyone in the US.
Good Morning Angeline,

I filed a request on July 21 for the repair of a broken refrigerator; it has been over three weeks now, and I am living out of a mini-refrigerator purchased at my own expense because AHS cannot communicate efficiently with the technician to decide what they will or will not offer me in terms of repair. Between the cost of the warranty, the cost of the repair call, the time I have spent away from work on the phone with AHS, and the cost of the mini-fridge so that I might have some food at home over the course of the month-long wait for repairs, I easily could have just purchased a new refrigerator and had it delivered the next day. I am furious with this complete waste of time and money, and I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone else.
On my last call to AHS, I was told that they would "try" to contact the technician again, and "if" they get in touch with him, it would "probably" be another two working days before they can finally tell me what my options are and how many MORE working days I'll have to wait before I finally have the problem fixed. Who has time for this???
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

I called AHS to follow up on service call. Person answering wanted repeat of information already provided. Then insulted me by asking if I know my street address. I had given it twice along with city, zip and phone. He had a 'strong' accent and was difficult to understand. When he said, "Do you know where you live." I hung up. I called contractor - they didn't answer. Called AHS back. When transferred to follow up personnel was disconnected. Called back. Got another NON American who wanted a repeat of my email-unnecessary to conduct question of order status. Then put me on hold to try to contact contractor. Came back - didn't contact.
Back on hold trying again. Told me I'd get a call in next few days. The service need is an ice maker on a Frigidaire? SERVICE? THE WORD IS BECOMING EXTINCT! I pay $479 plus 125/call and I'm doing all the work? When contract is up I'm shopping around. AHS may be big but not impressed with contractors, no ease of requesting service calls and no follow-up service.
I apologize for the inconvenience Dave. I've emailed you as I would like follow up with you to make sure your issue is resolved. My name is Stacy and I look forward to speaking with you.
