    I filed a claim with American Home Shield when the fridge wasn't cold, and they sent Valley Appliances out. But they didn't fix the problem. They just told me that I needed to spray this stuff. But that survived for a bit, and then it completely shut down. So they had to come back out and change a part. The fridge has been working fine now.

    AHS has been great and we ended up needing them more than we thought we would at first. They had been there for us, so we appreciate it. The only issue I'm having is that they came out and took a look at the garbage disposal and said that it would have to be replaced. And after several days went by, I didn’t hear from anybody. I called and they said, “Okay, we're gonna check into it and you're gonna receive a call.” That was last week. So, I don't know what's going on with that and I'm not sure what to do.

    But with our most recent claim which was the dishwasher, it was fine. It's fixed. I needed AHS three times. I was so glad that they were there because we couldn’t have handled it, otherwise. This is for a rental and it's in Texas and we're in Georgia. So, AHS has been a godsend. I just put the order online and then I usually get a call from the servicer to schedule the time and they go out and they take care of it. I usually have to call them back though, “Okay. What happened?” But, it has been smooth. So, I do appreciate it. I would highly recommend AHS.

    We've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years and the service has been real poor. We did three claims, each was $75. When the refrigerator never got fixed, we had to buy a brand-new one. The refrigerator was leaking and the techs put the new part in, and then we had to get a plumber to come out as well. Making the claim was okay, but it took over two weeks to get the part for the refrigerator. The original date the techs came out was on the 16th of August and they didn't come back until the 24th. And then when I asked for a refund, somebody gave me a runaround, then somebody else gave me a runaround. I still wanna ask for one today because it's very unfair. We had to wait that long, and they still couldn't fix the refrigerator. If American Home Shield doesn't get better, they're gonna lose us 'cause they screwed up. I wouldn't recommend them to a friend.

    The vendor had a different idea of what American Home Shield wanted to do as far as getting the problem fixed. So, I was stuck in the middle trying to determine which one is it: are they going to replace the unit or are they going to fix a part? Then, they realized that cost-effectiveness was for me to fix the part when American Home Shield had determined that fixing the air vent would have been more cost-effective. But, cost-effective to who? The technician came and assumed that he had fixed the problem when he did not. As soon as he drove away, it was still leaking water. So, he came back and diagnosed it again. That was when he said something in reference to a crack in the drain pan.

    So, I'm thinking that the only thing they are going to do is replace the drain pan, but now, it became, "No, we got to replace the evap coil." And then, "Oh, by the way, before we replace the evap coil, we have to charge you near $1,000 to get this unit back in accordance with the regulations or in order to be correct." The vendor also told me that if they were to replace the air vent, then the additional cost would have came out-of-pocket from me -- replacing the sensing or the communications board and all those others that are attached to the vent itself. So, nothing has been fixed yet and the claim has not gone well. I have to wait until Wednesday until the vendor comes and hopefully, he has the parts. Meanwhile, it is going on two weeks since I had air conditioning, and it is about 105 degrees here in Georgia.

    If I had to buy American Home Shield warranty myself, I’d never do it. Because when I told them exactly what I wanted, nobody told me that it was not covered. So, I paid the $75 fee to have somebody come out. They found the problem as I knew they would. The technician was terrific. He knew exactly what he was doing. He went straight to the problem, and he made an accurate assessment. He told me what needed to be done. But I knew all of it before he came. The only reason I called them was because I would prefer someone else do electrical work rather than me. When I submitted the claim through American Home Shield, they told me it wasn’t a covered charge and they would not reimburse the fee I paid.

    I’ve submitted claims online to American Home Shield several times and it’s pretty simple. The contractor would come out for service within a couple of days. For my AC, I had Custom Climate Professionals do the consulting first this time to find out what was gonna be covered and what wasn't. He did very well but none of it is getting covered. I had a different company put the equipment in and they gave me a second opinion on what wasn’t done right.

    90% of the time, I file claims with American Home Shield online. When the AC stopped blowing cold air, it was three days before True Master Inc came out. It was the peak of the hot season so there were too many calls. I was referred to a second company but they were even gonna be longer so I ended up back with True Master because they held my original appointment. Thankfully, it was cool enough at night. I opened the windows and everything was good. When the technician came out, he did a very nice job. He was very thorough and professional. He walked me through all the different steps and checked every possible thing on there and was there for 45 minutes. Since then, the AC has been functioning.

    I submitted my claim for my air conditioning online to AHS and the process was good. It was very quick. It was very easy like not complicated at all. The contractors came out the next day. They were a really great company, really great people and I was very happy with their service. I ended up working with the same employee of theirs, several times for various things, and he was a veteran and a really nice guy and has a really great work ethic.     My refrigerator wasn't working properly, so I called up American Home Shield. It is a GE appliance, so the technician came out from GE and he was sort of rude when he came inside of my house. I had my chair set up and table which he roughly pushed aside. I left and went into my living room because I didn't wanna be bothered. Then he came out 20 minutes later and he said that he would order the parts, then he left. He was sordid and unprofessional.

    After, I got a call from one of American Home Shield's reps and she said that American Home Shield was not responsible for fixing the refrigerator because the technician said that there was an insect infestation. I said that was crazy and not true because I just had my maid service. I told her that I would like a second opinion and she agreed. Then, she sent out a refrigerator service guy and he came out and he looked at it. In the meantime, the parts that the GE technician ordered had arrived and when the second technician came, I gave him the package with the parts in it. He said that they were the wrong parts and that some of the parts that were ordered were paper thin. So, he said he would order the new parts because he couldn't do anything. I said okay to that and after he ordered the parts, he came back and fixed everything. He did a great job.

    Other than that, I called a number of times in American Home Shield and tried to speak to a customer agent at their headquarters, but I couldn't get through. I went through about four different agents and they all said that they could not patch me in to somebody from headquarters to talk to somebody there about what happened. I just retired from the government as a federal inspector for the defense department, so I've dealt with a lot of contractors, and it was really sad that if I had a complaint, I couldn't file a complaint to AHS. Although, if I had pushed it by going to my congressman, it would've been done. But I didn't wanna do that since, eventually, the issue was resolved.

    I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and navigating the website was good but they should have a field or a block where you could describe the fault. It might help the technician or the service repair company to have a little bit of an idea before they get here of what the problem may be, or it might jog their memory to say, “Hey, give this customer a call because he’s talking about this, this and this.” I’ve had a few other complaints and I had to tell the technician over the phone prior to them getting here so, they would be well-prepared by the time they get here.

    The air conditioning unit was leaking out water, and the guy checked all the drain lines for me, gave it a clean air and ran the AC for a while to make sure it was up and running properly. The first time he did a repair, he just did a minor repair and said it was okay. But within 24 hours, the problem was still there. It’s not the fault of the technician because he’s not gonna sit inside the house for 24 hours waiting to see if the problem has been completely fixed. I had to be at home for the repair but I can understand that someone has to be here because you just can’t let these guys or anybody into your house. It is a minor inconvenience, but that’s how it works. It was very good that the contractor gave me a heads-up before they arrived and by the time I arrived after getting the phone call, they were either already here or they were here within a matter of just minutes.

    I have three toilets in the house and one of them was making a whistling sound. When you go, it makes this weird noise. The first guy that came out said he couldn't fix anything. He seemed lazy and unprofessional. He just wanted to get out of there as quickly as he could. He was terrible. But the second guy was very nice and polite. He worked through on everything that was out there.

    It's been two weeks since the second guy was out and the toilet is still making a noise. The second guy said the first guy did it fine and that it was the water pressure. But none of the other toilets in the house make this whistling sound when you go to flush it. Compared to before the repair though, the toilet that was fixed only does the sound for 10 seconds now. It doesn't do it for a long time.

    About two or three years ago, the toilet was making that noise. The plumber came replaced a part. It was fine for about three years. Now, it started to make the noise again so that's why we called American Home Shield. A part was changed but it's still not totally quiet. Other than that, American Home Shield has been very good and I would recommend them.

    I did a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. Their representative was great. The only thing was when I got off the phone, I wasn’t sure if J & C was gonna call me or I was supposed to call them. Other than that, everything went great. By the time I called American Home Shield back, J & C had already left me an email with times and a phone number, and I just called them back, and everything’s squared away.

    The claim was for the hot water heater that started leaking around the bottom, and then I had just a little bit of hot water, which was kinda lukewarm, not hot. But when the plumber got here, he looked at the serial numbers and everything on the hot water heater, and it was put in the house in 1977. He took a bunch of pictures of it because he said it shouldn’t last that long. They replaced everything. I would recommend J & C to anyone. I was mostly impressed with their courtesy. The plumber didn't talk down on me even if he knew more about plumbing. He was really nice. J & C should get Keith a raise. He’s good. I talked to J & C on a Friday afternoon, and Wednesday afternoon, he had everything complete and was leaving the house. Everything is going great. We have much hot water. And all of us can take a shower now and not have to worry about it.

    My refrigerator was just old and it quit working on me. And before I even took the policy with American Home Shield out, I asked whether the refrigerator had to be a certain year and they said there was nothing like that. And lo and behold, everybody has been peaches and cream. I haven't ever been treated so nicely in my life and hell, I'm almost 80 years old. The service technician that they sent out from the appliance store was an awesome guy. He was a very hands-on type of fellow.

    American Home Shield said that they have to replace the refrigerator. So my wife and I went online and we picked a unit out. After that, I got an email saying that it went through but then I got another email saying I don't think it went through. So I'm trying to hurry up so I can get home today to call them and ask if it went through or not because if it didn't, we're gonna have to figure out how to get it all fixed back up and redone again. I've been without a refrigerator for well over two weeks now and between buying ice and re-buying food every week, thinking the refrigerator was fixed and then it wasn't, it just got a lot expensive. They also said it would be five to 14 days before I get the refrigerator and the wife wasn't happy about it. But I asked if she wanted to run out and buy a $1,200 refrigerator or we can sit back and gradually wait on these folks. I mean, I can eat sandwiches. And I finally wooed her into it.

    American Home Shield has been hands-on 24 hours a day when I've needed to call somebody. I can call them anytime of the day and night. There's either someone there to answer the phone or they'll call you back as soon as daylight gets there. And I've had no bad person on the phone. No one was in a bad mood. They're a great bunch of people and it's nice to sit and talk to people on the phone who are friendly, laid back and steadily asking you if there is anything else. You're an idiot if you don't get this American Home Shield.

    The garbage disposal was recently installed in July and then I had to call a plumber back because it was leaking. I tried to submit the claim with American Home Shield online, but the online process required a $75 co-pay, which I thought wouldn't apply in this case because I was asking for them to fix something that was supposed to have been fixed. So, I called and spoke with a representative who made the arrangements without me doing the $75 co-pay.

    MSE Plumbing was was good. It was the same technician that came in July. He recognized that the unit was leaking out the top. The first one was defective and it was interesting that he chose to replace the entire thing instead of making a repair. But this time, he left me no paperwork. There was no receipt or anything for me to sign, nothing to show that he was ever in my home.

    On both occasions when the technician came out with a new unit, he didn't take the old one with him. What he did was he disposed of it in my personal garbage, which for me is an issue. I have a very small waste can and these boxes are really big. I wasn't happy about it but I let him do it because I didn't know if I had an alternative. It's not a big deal, but it was a little inconvenience. Other than that, he got the work done and he was very professional, on-time and very polite. He also seemed to know exactly what he was doing. The garbage disposal seems to be working very well wince the repair and there's no more leaking.

    Hayes Plumbing & Heating came right on and gave me a phone call within the 24-hour turnaround. Then they came out and checked to see what was going on with the water heater. They said they would order the part and get it put back in. They said it would probably be within the week but it was like the next day or the day after. It was excellent.     I had my system serviced where Freon had to be added. This was the first or second time it had happened. American Home Shield sent out United Air Temp and they were fine. Aside from adding Freon, there was another issue that was causing one of the other issues that the technicians found. That was rectified. The only thing was the email that I received from AHS was a little misleading. It stated up to $10 for the Freon replacement. But Freon is $100 per pound so $10 doesn't cover much. I have an older system and eventually, it will break again.

    The thermostat on the air conditioning unit wasn't working. I called American Home Shield and then they sent a company out. But they couldn't fix it and they handed it off to another company. So the second company came out, and my son and my husband were home at that time. They were both very impressed with the second company. The tech was really good. The first company said that it wasn't fixable, but when he came in, he fixed it in less than half an hour. We've used American Home Shield four times. Three claims were really good but one claim was a disaster. It took us almost two months to get our washing machine fixed. They had four different things come out. But the one we finally got works well.

    My hot water heater was leaking and American Home Shield sent out Wise Plumbing. The technician who came out turned the hot water heater off. He put a hose on it and drained the water out. After which he got a new hot water heater and replaced the old one. The work took four hours and he was out. I called American Home Shield for this claim and it was easy to file the service request when I got a hold of someone I could talk to instead of the computer. The hold time was not too bad though. And AHS did a good job. The response was quick and I have no complaints. I’ll probably use them again if I need to.

    My air conditioner in my house went out one day and I submitted a claim on the phone to American Home Shield. The reps whom I spoke to were nice. They sent a contractor who was very nice as well. He got up on my roof and when he came down, he told me that I could close my windows and turn on my air conditioner already. It has been working since then. I've been satisfied with anything AHS has done.

    My central AC was not putting out cool air. There was some sort of leak somewhere in the system. I opened up a ticket with American Home Shield, paid my fee and was assigned a contractor. The contractor, Generations Heating & Air Conditioning, called me within 24 hours to schedule an appointment and came out and satisfied the request. They were phenomenal. They were on time, professional, very courteous, very accommodating and easy to reach no matter what time of the day and night. So, I have nothing but praise for them. So far, the AC is doing good.

    It has taken two companies and eight separate visits to have a water heater replaced. This is a common thing. After the water heater was replaced, now the pipes squeak. Had the contractor out and the problem still exists. AHS has terrible contractors and even worse customer service. When I call customer service, lie EVERY time (14 and counting over a month) and say that their managers are in a meeting and can not come to the phone. This is regardless of the time of day and how long you wait on hold. They also say that the manager will call when then get out of the meeting. Again, 0 for 14. This company is an embarrassment.

    Please beware of this company! First off I was told BEFORE signing up that the items I mentioned were covered. Then when I submitted a claim and paid my $100 copay, they denied over half the work order. Stating that the items weren't covered. I then was offered a free month when I stated that I wanted to cancel. I accepted, hoping maybe things would improve. Just for a safety measure I did not update the payment type on my account. It took less than 2 weeks for them to call me and say my payment was declined.

    I had to explain to them I was given a free month. They transferred me to another department where I was told they placed notes on the account and I wouldn't be called about this again. However, I was called two more times regarding my payment, for the same month I was given for free, not going through. After the third call, I cancelled. I will never do business with these people again. I do not even want a home warranty. It feels like a giant scam.

    My wife called in for a problem with our refrigerator around end of June 2019 (dont remember the exact date). The refrigerator was not cooling and the display showed some weird values. On July 1st, we got a text saying that an AHS service provider - SOS Services will be reaching out to set an appointment. July 2nd was our appointment and the not-so-skilled technician came come and identified that the refrigerator unit (Kenmore brand) needed a new motherboard. He ordered it and on July 10th, came and replaced the motherboard telling us that in 3-4 hours everything should be back to normal.

    3 to 4 hours passed and the same error message was back on screen and the water dispenser was spraying water when we tried to use it. Called the technician who did not answer. Called AHS and then sent a text saying that someone from Sos services will be reaching out to schedule an appoint on July 11th. Then we got a text saying that AHS service appointment with Sos services has been scheduled for July 12th and the technician will arrive between 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. CDT. On July 12th we got a text saying that the a "skilled" (wonder how skill is measured) technician was on the way. We waited and waited but it was a no show.

    We called AHS again. We were told that they will talk to the service provider and were told that some parts had to be ordered. We were then told that if the service provider cannot fix the issue, they would replace the refrigerator. All blank promises. Since then we have called AHS several times (almost every week) and each time we were told lies that they would escalate this to the service provider relationship department and that someone from AHS would call us within the next 24 hours to resolve the issue. My wife and I have wasted nearly an hour each time we called only to be told the same information over and over again.

    They won't give us the Customer Escalation number to talk to someone who can resolve this. Till date and it has been nearly 2 months now, we have no resolution. It is nearly two months now and we don't have a working refrigerator putting the family at stress. This experience is horrible. Now, I get a letter stating that my AHS service contract is due for renewal ... Guess what my answer is going to be. Hopefully if someone from AHS is seeing this, they will take action and address this immediately - if they have any customer service in their DNA.

    They are always on time and fix the issue. We only had 2 negative experiences, but it was understandable. The air conditioner stopped working during the hottest part of summer and we had to wait for 5 days to get it fixed. I'm sure everyone was overworked though due to the heat.

    After 6 weeks dealing with a life without a functional refrigerator, I was contacted by a nice person from AHS offering me to replace my refrigerator. We are finally able to replace the refrigerator and store our food at home again. I am still hoping AHS can revisit their policy and consider to improve their processes.

    Our refrigerator was dead at end of July, 2019 while we were away from home. We have to throw away about three to four hundred dollars food. AHS sent technician to diagnostic first, then let us wait for a week for parts arrive. They ordered the wrong parts and it does not work well with our refrigerator. The temperature is totally mess up and again, we have to throw away bad food every week. Cost us more than five hundred dollars without a solution. They sent technician and we were being tested again to see if technician can fix the problem, but no luck. Food is still going bad every week because temperature is not right.

    We called AHS, but they want us to go through the same process all over again, for a 2nd opinion. Now is end of Aug, 2019. This has been one month without a refrigerator and no solution. We are still waiting now, food is still going bad and not knowing if we will have a refrigerator soon. This is totally nightmare with this kind of process. You may want to think again if you want to use their service.

    I had a simple drip/leak in my master bath faucet. Just needed to replace the stem cartridge. Plumber came in and snapped off the plastic handle extender then said he would have to replace the entire valve assembly as a result... Then, he said AHS would not cover cost to replace with the same equipment and would have to replace my entire Moen handles and faucets, further they would not match the rest of my home faucets. I called AHS immediately and was informed they would ensure it was repaired with exact match and that I would have a call within a day or two from plumber to schedule the repair. Never received call. I have called the AHS line several times and spoke with the call center, each time with the same response... They will call me within two days.

    Finally, after two weeks and several calls, I pushed to speak with a supervisor...Berna. Berna said AHS would refund half my service fee and promised that I would have a call from AHS to resolve this within 2 business days. I did not receive the call. It is now in the middle of the THIRD WEEK that I cannot use my bath tub due to AHS contractor screw up and I cannot even get AHS to return calls as they repeatedly promise to do. This was a simple faucet drip which should have been an easy repair.

    I am on a call again where the first person put me on hold for a supervisor, then the call was answered by another call center person who was not a supervisor...Kendahl, stalled and said she was creating a research ticket and took much convincing to finally give me a supervisor. The previous supervisor, as well as each of the previous call center agents all said they 'were creating research tickets and would call me back in two days." This is ridiculous. You took my money. Your representative broke my bath tub. And, now I am on hold waiting for the next assistance.

    Katisha in the Georgia Call Center is now according to her "doing the efforts and going through the motions" (her exact words) to hopefully get me taken care of. She promised to call me by end of the business day, but I am not banking on that, as she made the point of telling me several times that AHS is "not responsible to fix this issue." Yes, that is what she said, and she referred me to our contract. Seriously? I pay your company $600 per year, plus a $100 service fee to have a dripping faucet repaired and your hired technician broke the faucet and has left my bath tub out of service for nearly three weeks now, and the best you can say is that you are not responsible? You cannot even return calls as promised so many times. Really..?! How do you measure your performance? Because, I'll bet you can do better if you put in a little more effort. Contract **.

    You can never get in touch with AHS when the service provider does a bad job. Our air conditioner has been ‘worked’ on, replaced inside and outside units in the past 4 years and then worked AGAIN. The contractor, Comfort Heating and Air of Shreveport never checked to be sure unit was working properly! It’s almost 100 degrees outside in this August 2019 heat! What about my service?

    I made a claim on my AC unit. The compressor was broken and it was not good any more. So, they had to replace that. I submit claims over the phone and sometimes the reps were hard to understand. Still, they were helpful after the fact that you understand what they were saying. The service contractor was bad. I had to wait almost a month to get my unit fixed. Their office was blaming American Home Shield for the approval. But my thing is if you're ordering a part it's because you already got approved. They said, "Well, American Home Shield, they work a certain way." I went, "But you ordered a part because they approved it, right?" So, they were trying to go around that.

    Also, I would call them and they wouldn't answer. I might have spent a whole day calling them every 15 minutes. So, that one day, I was so frustrated that I actually drove over to the address that was online. And if you could look up the address for Stanley Air & Heating, it goes to a house. It's a home address, and that's where they work out of.

    When I went there, I noticed they were doing a bunch of AC stuff and it was kind of a trashy-looking place. They opened the garage door and they had a little set-up office inside the garage. They had a little receptionist there and matching service. I explained to them I was here because I couldn't get a hold of them on the phone and that I had an appointment that day at 5 o'clock, and it was 4 o'clock then already and I wanted to know if they were going to show up because I have people coming from out of town and my house is hot. We then scheduled them to come over because it was going to get fixed. Then they wanted to charge me 1,000 and something, when American Home Shield told me it was gonna be 600-something. I was wondering how that worked. So, when Stanley called me, he said not to listen to whatever American Home Shield told me, and that they were charging 1,200. I was desperate and so I said, "okay."

    I went over there twice, because when I went to their office, they were like, "We're gonna be there on Monday." So Monday came around, and sure enough, they never showed up, and I never got a call back. So, I called on a Monday, and I got an answer finally late in the afternoon. I said that they scheduled me for Monday, and it was already 3:00 o'clock again, and that I wanted to make sure that they had me on their service route that day. Then, they said, "Oh no, you're scheduled for tomorrow." I couldn't be here tomorrow because was going on a trip. So, my schedule was revolving around them, and then they backed out every time. I told them that I'm coming back Thursday night, so they can be here Friday to install it. He told me, "Yes," and that the part was there.

    So, here comes Friday after my trip from Vegas. Sure enough, the same thing. No call, I was trying to call them all day long to see what time they were going to show up. And then, I didn't get any response. So, I drive out there again and ended up meeting the owner. I said, "Well, I have an appointment today to get my AC installed and I wanted to know what's going on." She goes, "Okay, well, let's go to the office." So, they opened the garage door and we went in there. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand was doing, and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand's doing.

    Sure enough, they call that place that was supposed to have my AC installed, and it was not there. It's not there. So I went, "You guys told me that it was here." They said that that was what they have been told. Well, that was not my problem. They are the experts here and they should have done to a tee if it was there or not. I didn't know whether they were playing games with me or what. I said, "You guys gotta give me a discount for all this trouble I'm going, right?" So then she was, "Yeah, we're just drop it down to 650, which is the quote standing American Home Shield had for me." And I was like, "You two are scammers."

    So I ended up paying the 650, and then they came in and installed the unit. The only thing about the unit I had concerns is it is not the same as the one that I used to have. It's a different unit. It looks like it's a smaller compressor in there, despite them saying they were going to order the same exact thing. They also told me it was the insurance that ordered the part. I will never go there at Stanley again, and I am sure AHS gets a lot of complaints from them. Overall, AHS did their part, but they need to do an audit on the people they are subcontracting.

    A flow switch on my spa went bad. My claim experience with American Home Shield went really well. I did it online and it was easy to navigate through their site. If I could do it, anybody can. I tried calling them as well and it's easier to do it online. The person that I got couldn't understand what I was saying. A flow switch is a very specific item and the person didn't have a clue whether it was covered or not. Other than that, I submitted the claim at 8:00 and the technician called me probably within 30 minutes. He was actually in the area and he wanted to take care of it. It went pretty well. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I'd recommend them to anybody.

    One of the pipes on my AC had cracked or separated the seal, so the Freon leaked out and the AC was frozen up. We filed it online but it said we may not hear back for 24 business hours and it was on a Friday. We didn’t wanna go without AC over the weekend, so I ended up calling the company and they were able to schedule me in that same day, which was nice.     I didn't like the first contractor American Home Shield sent out but in the contractor's defense, they were 157 miles away from my house. American Home Shield sent them from the west side of Fort Worth all the way to East Texas, and the technician drove three hours to get here because of traffic. When he got here, he was mad and frustrated. It was late in the day.

    When the contractor got here, he stuck in the capacitor and the AC cranked up. I asked him to be sure to check the inside unit as well because he was already there. I was attending to my dad who's deaf and mute and when the guy came in the living room, I asked if he had checked the inside unit. He said yes and that it was fine so I signed off and he left. About 15 minutes later, the AC stopped cooling and I couldn't figure it out. I thought maybe it was because the house was so hot and the unit was condensing so much. So I opened up the unit in the house and it looked like somebody had emptied coolant all over it. It was completely frozen up. I called the contractor first but they said they couldn't get out here until the end of next week and that I had to be on the back side of the list. I told them that I should be on the top of the list. The technician had just left. He was not even back there yet.

    I was upset because my dad had had three heart attacks and five strokes, and I was on a 118-degree temperature out. I'm on a fixed income and I couldn't move in. My dad couldn't go back to the nursing home either because he had to wait 21 more days before he can go back for any reason. So I was really in dire straits. What ended up happening was I called American Home Shield. They got Cool Effect by Larry and Cool Effect called me immediately. They were 20 miles away from me. I don't know why American Home Shield didn't send them to begin with other than the fact that I think they're looking at a list and when it says Texas, they just send the contractor out from wherever. One of the dispatchers I had talked to was in the Philippines.

    But anyway, Cool Effects came out right then and they did really well. It was at 8 o'clock at night. They brought lights, worked on the unit and tried to get it going. As soon as the technician got to the outside unit and I told him what was going on, he knew what the issue was. I had also sent him a picture of the inside unit. There was a little valve that was sticking out but not all the time, and that was probably what caused the capacitor to go out to begin with. They ordered the part and got it back in. The experience was wonderful. They actually followed up as well. They called me three days in a row after they got the part installed to make sure it was still working okay.

    I've been with American Home Shield forever and I've heard people say it is just waste of money. But no, it isn't. I have had the best experience. Every time, they've gotten somebody out here right away. I have another neighbor next door who has Choice and she can never get contractors out there. It takes a week to get somebody out just to service a dishwasher. American Home Shield, on the other hand, has replaced the huge air conditioner in my other house. They also replaced the refrigerator and fixed so much stuff for me. That's why I wanna get my brother on them. He's a veteran. He's got cancer and he's on a fixed income. I'm gonna call and see if American Home Shield will make him a policy that lets me take the payment out of my bank account.

So, I have a second appointment for someone to take a look at it and it’s actually a different company. They are booked out, so they couldn’t get here faster.     Bestway is always efficient, always timely, and always manages to get us in. This is the second time that we’ve had to have a claim and called and said, “Listen. These people can’t get us ‘til like next week sometime, and we need it right away.” Bestway always steps up. They even sent us a Christmas card. They're wonderful. I have nothing but praise for them. The contractor came out for my AC and was gone in like 10 minutes. He said it’s Freon. He did it, and that was it. I had just had surgery like Thursday. I had a knee replacement, so to come home and not have the air working was like, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I can’t wait ‘til Tuesday for somebody, that’s a whole week getting here, in almost 100 degree weather, as you know we’ve had outside, not to have my AC working." So, I appreciated them stepping up and getting here.

    Submitting the claim with American Home Shield went fine. Initially, my husband called. He called while I was in surgery, and they connected us to the All Seasons. They said, “Well, we can do you next Tuesday.” So, when I got out of surgery, and came out of recovery I said, “What do you mean Tuesday? Nuh-uh. I’m coming home tomorrow. No, no, we can’t have that.” As soon as I got home on Thursday, I called. TH AHS rep said, “I have to give the initial company a certain amount of time. Either they don't call back, I will call you, and we’ll reschedule it with someone else.” And that was exactly what happened. In the required amount of time, they came, so it worked well. I have recommended American Home Shield.

    I spoke to a representative when I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the interaction was good. They were concerned. It happened on late Friday night and it was kind of a problem at first because we couldn't find someone. We lost power but I called AHS and they tried to get someone. Then they called back and told me their process if we could find someone. They emailed me but we couldn't get anyone. The power ended up coming back on and about four or five days later, the main power popped off. I had to call AHS back and they handled it well. They ended up charging me twice for the one call because they deducted $100 for the first call and then I had to call back on Thursday but they immediately refunded it and checked it. So, I appreciate it. They took care of it right away and I got the money back within five days.

    The contractor was very nice, and they were on time and called. When they couldn't get here, they called back to say that they were coming and that they had to find the parts. They had to call the local energy company just to make sure and they ended up getting the parts in the main power box and replacing it. It worked fine.

I then called and complained because I didn't think that would solve the problem. So AHS sent Affordable Comfort and Construction for a second opinion. Chad, unlike the guy from other outfit, checked the Freon level and that everything was working. He said he did not detect any leaks. So, everything was working that way. Also, the other guy did not even notify me ahead of time that he was on his way, which Chad did. He also checked the electronics and he saw that old style which he called a hard start kit. He said it has a relay that has contact points and if they start sticking, it would cause the problems. He also said something about when it is running, it can build up pressure which will cause that, too.

    It shut off one time and I had to restart it, and it has been running ever since. That was on a Sunday morning and I had to go to work early that morning and I just got it running again so my house wouldn’t be 90 degrees when I came home. I don't know what that hard start kit replacement had to do with it, but it does not shut down all the time like it was doing. So the issue has not been completely resolved yet, but he said that I should give him a call if it did again. Overall, I would still recommend AHS. They are trying everything they can to resolve the problem. It is hard to fix something if it is not broke at the moment you are trying to fix it.

    Our AC wasn’t working at all. It was kicking in and out. The contractor came out and the tech fixed what he could. And he said, "Now, I think this will do it." But he said, “If this, this, or this happens, then I know exactly what the problem is.” I said, “Okay, but why would you not fix it today if you think it may do this, this, this?” Well, they didn't fix it that day. They did a quick fix. Sure enough, not even a week later, it gave up the ghost again and I had to call. And they came back out and the tech worked for hours trying to figure out how to get it to work. And then they decided that it just was not gonna do it and they were supposed to replace it. I got a letter and they were supposed to call tomorrow to schedule. I understand it’s August. The air conditioning people are working 16-hour days.

    We had a similar thing happen last year and we had to put a bunch of Freon in, but American Home Shield doesn’t pay for that. We do. It was three years in a row now this has happened and it has been July or August, and then this time, they tried to fix it. American Home Shield was good about getting the contractors out here. It’s just that the AC can’t be fixed. Also, you have to order and AHS has to approve and go through all this stuff. Overall, I’m okay with it. I just hate that it’s hot in here. I went to Home Depot and I got big commercial fans. So, when they're turned on, you can’t hear anything but you can have some cool air.

    I thought I had the best policy that AHS offered. One reason I have them is for things like this, and I want whatever they cover. And coming up with $800 all in one whack to pay it is a lot, but that’s better than paying in the long run for things that can go bad. But then I found out that I didn't have the best policy that AHS offered when I needed it.

    Family Heating and Cooling came out for one of my five claims. The tech looked at the issue and found out what it was and went to get the part. But for the other four claims, I had to wait another week or 10 days for the contractor to come back and fix the problem. The tech from Family Heating came back and fixed the problem within 45 minutes to an hour. But I got aggravated with my other claims because when you call and put the claim in at first, you gotta wait a week or five days. I was upset with the air conditioner because I had to wait three or four days. I have an elderly father-in-law that's 85 years old and has breathing problems. And like I said, thank god, that it was cool out and it wasn't as humid as it was when I lost my air conditioner. But I had a very good interaction with the American Home Shield rep that I spoke to when I called to submit the claim. I got five of my friends signed up with American Home Shield.

    I had a claim for my microwave with American Home Shield and they set me up with a company, FSA. FSA called me on 8/7 and I thought I would get someone to come out on 8/8 to see me and install it but instead, they made an appointment for 8/9. Then, I waited all day long on 8/9 and called them several times but I did not get any response from them as to why they did not show up. I called American Home Shield and informed them I needed them to either install it by 8/9 or 8/10. I also informed FSA about it because I was leaving the country. I left a message with American Home Shield explaining that I had to leave the country and I would be returning on the 27th.

    I called them this morning to find out when they would be able to come and the microwave was restocked. I was not made aware that after 10 days of holding the appliance, it would have to be restocked. So I paid the fee this morning to get it but the representative from American Home Shield spoke with the people at FSA and they painted a picture of me lying and not being available. FSA said that they could not get in touch with me, that I was not available, and that they tried to stop at my home and install the microwave but none of that was true. I really would've preferred another company to deal with it but at this point, I have no choice. I was on the phone this morning for maybe 50 minutes and I still haven't resolved the issue with the microwave. And I'm waiting for a manager to call me back to speak with me in regards to that problem.

    Also, it's not exactly easy to get in touch with anyone and I understand that we can just go online and try to get services taken care of, but sometimes you need a human touch to help you to navigate the system. That has not always been available readily with American Home Shield because of the long wait time. It's a challenge to work with being able to resolve issues with your appliances, even with the home warranty agency. There's a lot of work that needs to be done in order to get results and it's not easy.

    I've filed claims with American Home Shield for two appliances. One was the dryer where the timer wasn't working and they fixed that immediately. The other was a dishwasher that wasn't working and the first contractor they sent out thought they fixed it. But after one or two days of use, it went out again. AHS tried calling several times, leaving text and voice messages, but the contractor did not respond. AHS then had to get another contractor out and after going over the dishwasher and looking at it, the contractor said that there were too many parts that had to be replaced. They recommended that the unit be replaced and it went back to AHS who made the decision to replace it. I highly recommend AHS. I was recommended to them by a friend and I've also told many friends about them.

    As a property manager, I recommend American Home Shield to homeowners in many cases, depending on the underlying contractor for the most part, because we've had good experience with them. They give one to five contractor choices for issues, I scrutinize them and so we went with Advanced Home Services when there was a plumbing issue on this property. The tech was very good A to Z, knew what he was doing, and he took the time to assess the matter ahead of time. Typically, we give these guys a head’s up of the issue 99% of the time and what resolution is probably gonna be, and it's helpful if they listen since no one likes to be told their job.     I had the dishwasher in use, and when I came back to it and opened it up, it was completely off and there was water sitting in it. I checked the breaker and made sure the breaker or anything that was still powered on didn't blow, but it still had water in it. So, I used the Shop-Vac and sucked all the water out and I called American Home Shield to see if there was a way it could be repaired. They were able to get somebody out here, and the guy that came was excellent. He seemed like he did all his troubleshooting to try to see if he could figure out what was wrong.     I had my AC upstairs quit cooling for the second time. Kemph was the second one that came out and they looked for leaks and recharged my unit. Now, I have cool air. There was nobody complaining at night, and I slept like a baby, and my husband was ecstatic. It’s one thing when you have a two-storey house. Downstairs is nice and cool and upstairs during the summer is super hot if you have no AC. So, it kept us all from sleeping downstairs in the living room and there are seven in our house.

    I did the claim online. I do everything online with it. Within 24 hours, I have somebody contact me with an appointment. So, it’s super fast. And I live in very rural Oklahoma so it’s kind of hard to find contractors. So, I’m very pleased. I love the online portal. I needed the contractors to come back out before. The issue wasn’t fixed. That was a little confusing the first time I did it. Other than that, the contractors were amazing. They were very informative. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield.     The garage door company came and fixed everything. They had to go back and get another part, then they came back the next week, got it all fixed, and we were up and running. I am using them privately for another job. And then I had a hot water heater that broke. It was leaking through my ceiling. It was just painful working it through American Home Shield and their contractor. They came out very quickly, which was the next day. They shut everything off and got the water out. From there, they claimed that they were gonna write up an estimate for AHS and then come back.

    American Home Shield called me a couple of days later and said I needed a new hot water heater, but then they had about four or five other things that they claimed that I needed - a new pan, a new filter, a bunch of other stuff. I was of the mindset that I don't need those. You may want me to have those, but I don't need those. I need a hot water heater. There's a difference. We went back and forth several times. I tried to call the contractor but he wouldn't call me back to talk about the individual pieces. I tried to call American Home Shield and tried to get it straightened out. In short, I walked away from that particular claim and just paid for the whole thing myself because it was so painful. I never got a phone call and I couldn't contact that plumber. It was awful.

    I have a couple of properties with AHS and I have been with them since 2012. I'm constantly looking for ways to find a different home warranty company and I haven't found one. It's so hard to talk to AHS. They don't want to talk to you. They don't really wanna help you. Once they have you in their net, they have you and they know they have you, so they don't really care. The customer service really doesn't exist. They just say, "Somebody's on their way..." It's not customer-friendly at all.

    When the air conditioning went out, I called American Home Shield and they got somebody over here about an hour later who put in a part, and it's back up and operating. When you live in the Phoenix area of Arizona, air conditioning is important when it's 109 degrees outside. I've had American Home Shield's services for every house we've ever owned. I've been a little dissatisfied from time to time when it takes four, five, six days to get somebody to fix a problem. That wasn't the case this time, which is great. If it would have been the case this time, I'd have been unhappy which meant I would've gotten somebody out here immediately, and AHS would have paid the bill. And then, maybe they wouldn't want to have paid the bill, but I would have insisted because at 109 degrees outside, you can't just sit around on your hands.

    I'm very pleased that it was only a little part that broke because if it had been the main outside unit, that would have been a different story. AHS would had to have find somebody to replace the entire unit that evening. And I know they don't wanna hear that because that's not the way you operate. When we lived in California, I was a little dissatisfied a couple of times because the folks that AHS sent out didn't speak very good English. And they were speaking Russian, which was bothersome a bit and threatening a couple times. And I called back and said, "I fired them. I got them out of here. I don't want them here no more," and AHS accommodated that because I was right. I'm rather blunt about things when I'm paying the bill.

    I was very happy with the latest service call and with the person that came out. They replaced one little part in there. It wasn't a big thing. It was something that AHS kinda figured that was what it was because we had that kind of part go out when we were in California on the unit there too. It was a little transistor of sorts. It goes out occasionally during air conditioning times. Also, AHS responded. The guy called me within minutes of me calling AHS and said "I would be here in an hour or less than an hour." He gave me an exact time. He was here within five minutes of what he said on the phone.

    Every time we've put a claim in to American Home Shield, we've gotten a response quickly. One time, we were having problems with our pool and spa filter. I went online and put in a service request. That was a very easy process. Thereafter, I received a text message response and an email that somebody would be reaching out to me within 24 hours. AHS also gave me the name of the contractor company and their phone number. Bluepoint Pool Service came out and their techs were excellent. They found the issue in five minutes and everything has been operating great since. While AHS has taken water softeners off their warranty coverage, we've had success submitting claims for the things that are covered.

    I called American Home Shield and they sent out a service vendor to take care of my refrigerator issue. The service contractor was useless. The guy came the first time, walked in, said he knew what the problem was but he didn't have the time to do it that day and he left. So, they rescheduled like a week or two and the same guy showed up. He came in, started tearing the damn refrigerator apart and got the parts all over the kitchen floor. Then he looked at me and said he knew where the leak was but he couldn't find out how to get into it. I asked him how long has he been doing this work and he answered not too long. He said he had to get his supervisor to come back with him. He put the refrigerator back together again and left.

    I called American Home Shield and complained. I said very politely, "Do not, and I repeat, do not let that company back into my house." They sent me a qualified service vendor who took care of it. Pro Appliance was the first one and American Home Shield sent me Premier Appliance who did an excellent job. Then I sold this piece of property and it was inspected. They pointed out that the instrument panel on the refrigerator that gives you the temperature and controls was not functioning properly. So, I called American Home Shield again and they sent someone out within a matter of a couple of days. They confirmed that the part was defective and they ordered the part. The part came in and they installed it today. And it's running fine. I have no complaints with American Home Shield at all. I also have no complaints with the second contractor they sent out. American Home Shield reacted quickly to my complaint and I'd recommend them. They did do their job.

    For some reason, no one that American Home Shield had sent out could identify the problem until this most recent person came to the house. He was the first person that spot-on just knew what it was and it was the third company we used. The tech said it might be the sizing of the pipelines that we have. We can live with it, but ultimately, we don’t want to. Eventually, we have to bring the guy back out. I don’t think that’s on the American Home Shield warranty. It’s going to have to be out of pocket to get that repaired. We have to reroute the line. At least now we know what we need to do and we have an estimate, so we know what we need to work towards. So, who knows if we’re able to, we’ll get it done.

But I have called them many times within almost 3 months, I got nothing. They told me they submitted the form incorrectly, and always find an excuse for their terrible service.     We requested service repair for our Dishwasher. When the request sent to the local vendor, the vendor did not respond for more than a week. The vendor didn't show up for agreed appointments twice. We reached out to AHS again for this delay. They tried again with the vendor to set up the time. The vendor didn't keep up with the appointment again. I have to call again to AHS to send a new vendor. Finally, a new vendor showed up and diagnosed the issue. As the dishwasher is not repairable, AHS offered replacement offers. The replacement offers are neither market equivalent nor replacement with the same brand. Hence, we reached out to customer support to discuss further options to get better ones.

    Frontline customer support agents are very good and considerate when we talked. However, when we asked to talk to a supervisor to address our issue, this one supervisor, NICK was very terse and not ready to understand our request. He abruptly hung up on me. The whole saga is still going on for more than 6 weeks. Still, no resolution in sight. :( Every call to AHS takes more than 30-45 mins (with most of the time on hold). Extremely inefficient process and not at all happy. Hope someone in upper management takes a look at this process and make it efficient.     I contacted AHS 8/11 regarding my unit not cooling until after the sun goes down. The vendor arrived to assess and fix the problem 8/14. I was told that the unit just needed to be cleaned which is not covered because it's maintenance. I paid an additional $225 on top of the $125 trip charge to have the unit cleaned. My house never cooled. I called the next morning and they sent the same person out on 8/16. Mind you the first trip the tech never went into my attic. This time he did and said that it needed a part and that he'd order it and would be back Monday. The vendor contacted me Monday 8/19 and said the earliest date they could come was 8/21. On 8/21 the tech came out and said he had the wrong part. So he had to re order the part. At this point the hottest it had gotten was 78. The next appointment was set for 8/23.

    I called the morning of to confirm that he had the part and ask to be the last person he would see because of my work schedule. At 5:05 I received a call from tech saying he did not have the part and not sure why the appointment was made he'd come out Monday. The next day Saturday 8/24 8:00pm my home was 89 degrees. I have a 14 mth old, teen, husband, myself, a 105lb dog and a small dog. It was almost UNBEARABLE! I called the vendor around 10pm. Said they would rout to a tech in the am. I Called again at 8am and said they would contact the oncall tech. The same tech text me, said he would come by after church and see if he could "make an adjustment to try and bring the temp down". At 12:36 I hadn't received a call or text from him so I texted him back to see around what time he would be there. I didn't receive an answer.

    At Around 3pm I called and the tech stated he couldn't do anything until Monday because he had no part when earlier the conversation was different. I call the vendors office and I ask for it to escalated to management. I received a text approximately 30 min. later from the tech saying "I may be able to pull something off". He text about 20 min later saying that he is 30min away. When he arrived there was another person with him. He then said the compressor was weak and I needed a new one. Now it took this tech FOUR visits to diagnose the compressor! Now I have to wait 3-5 Business Days for the part. I contacted AHS four times Sunday after the tech said it was the compressor. The only convenient concession I was offered was 1 night at a hotel or 125 cash that could go towards a portable unit. I was told per the vendor they try to expedite the ordering of the part and was told that they couldn't do that.

    I called and was told the same information to the compassionless Manager ** in the Georgia office, said my case was not an escalated one, that she did not have a supervisor that I could speak with, and that she couldn't give me the information as to who her supervisor was. She also stated that escalated calls go through corporate and that she couldn't give me corporates number. AMERICAN HOME SHIELD DOESN’T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! Last night my house was 91 degrees!!! I guess life threatening conditions is not an urgent matter.

    They contract these jobs out to incompetent vendors and will not provide loaner window or portable units in cases like mine when the customer has been waiting weeks and there is life threatening temperatures. So I bought a window unit that only cools 1 small bedroom for 150.00 and I have to wait maybe another WEEK in this TEXAS HEAT!

    Don't be fooled thinking this is a great warranty. It's not. Water heater was leaking to replace OUT OF POCKET $700.00 + $75.00 SERVICE CHARGE. WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY IS THAT???? HERE'S THE SCOOP. Plumbing company verbiage is modification. Plumbing company has to modify the hot and cold water lines. NOT TRUE. They have to replace the hot and cold connection lines that might be 6 inches longer because American Home Shield uses their own water heaters plus they have to change out the gas hose because it might be longer, understand the hoses need to be changed but the cost for the hoses is $40.00 each at most, and it's replacing hoses.

    Next new water pan under the heater $100.00, $65.00 to take to dump, new vent because it's not the same size of water heater all because they have to use American Home Shield water heaters. Here is my question if I needed a new air conditioner, do they just bring it into the home and drop it off because modification are going to cost thousands????

    When we actually needed it because our A/c went out on the hottest day of the year, they could not get a technician scheduled for another 5 days. Their policy of addressing the issue within 48 business hours is bogus as their managers could not define what a business hour was. They refused to find. E another contractor outside of their network. Just kept giving me the runaround. Ended up cancelling my policy (over $100 processing fee by the way) and finding my own help by the next day. What have I paid for all those months? I feel robbed.

    First time I filed a claim for my washer technician wasn’t able to fix it. He said needed a part. Then he came back. Now said needs to be replaced. Insurance company said they needed details report from technician and technician said he already sent it. I got stuck in between both of them. Insurance company took my $100 deductible right away. It’s been more than two weeks. Still I have no washer. Customer service people have difficulties to explain due to their accent. I didn’t quite understand what they are saying. It seems all of them having lack of proper communication skills. I was hoping to speak with someone in clear English and understandable and I wasn’t. So I don’t recommend anybody get this insurance company until they hire skilled personnel to communicate with their customer.

    In July/August of last year (2018), I submitted a request for service for my microwave. A contractor was dispatched to our home and submitted his findings to American Home Shield (AHS). My claim for repair was denied and I spoke with 3 or 4 different representatives. One told me that I would be receiving a check for something along the lines of "an in lieu of payment," due to AHS not approving my claim for my microwave to be repaired or replaced.

    After a week, I called to get an update and I spoke with a different representative this time. This representative told me that my claim was denied and that I would not be getting any payment. I explained what the first representative had told me and this representative said she would leave a message for someone from the claims department to return my call. That never happened, so I called a couple of weeks later and again spoke with a different representative, who took a message and told me that she would have a supervisor to return my call.

    After two more weeks, I still had not received a call from a supervisor, so I called again and was put on hold for about 20 minutes before someone (who said she was a supervisor) got on the line with me. I explained things to her and she explained that due to the findings of the contractor, my claim request was denied. However, she told me that she would provide me with a refund of the $75.00 service fee that I paid, and that the refund would be in the form of a gift card. It has been over a year later and I still have not received any refund or "in lieu of payment." I had decided to just leave things alone; but, the incident still has not left my mind. Therefore, I am now choosing to write this review.

    Overall, I am satisfied with American Home Shield, to the level that I chose to continue my home warranty with them after it expired last month; and have also referred a friend, who has purchased a warranty from them. Again, my only dissatisfaction thus far is the false or misleading information that I received regarding a refund being granted to me.

    When I had an issue with my air conditioning, I submitted the claim online and it was fine. The contractor came out a day or so, but then the same problem resurfaced and then they came back out again.     The lock needed to be replaced on the washing machine. I called American Home Shield and they set up who was gonna come out. I let the representative know that the issue that I had with my washing machine before, and that many different companies had come out to try to fix it, but couldn’t. GE was the one who ended up fixing it, and if possible, to go to directly to GE. Because I had called them a long time ago when the washing machine was just sitting with the lock broke. They told me that if the lid had been forced open, which was what happened, then that’s what the problem was. So, I told the person that it was already diagnosed and that it would not reset. And they were able to tell me it’s because the lock was broken.

    When the guy came, he checked it, and he had the lock in the vehicle he drove. And went to get it, put it on, and the washing machine works fine. The contractor knew exactly what to do. He made sure that the washing machine worked before he left up outta here. This last experience was great. The only thing that I do not particularly care for with American Home Shield is that it seemed like my premium was going up every year.

    I had a problem where the ejector pump was hooked up to a switch. It had to be turned on for it to run. First, it started out as a plumbing request because I thought there was also a problem with the ejector pump. I called somebody on the phone ‘cause I wasn’t sure if it was covered or not.     A piece that was in the motor part that raises the door broke all at one time. It was working one day and the next day, it wasn't. I called in the claim to American Home Shield and the rep’s native language was not English. She had a very strong accent and I repeatedly had to ask her to repeat things because I couldn't understand her. It took five days to get the contractor out and he was very cordial and professional. I would highly recommend that company again. It was determined that the springs on the door were worn out and the springs had to be replaced. Then, the garage door opener itself was replaced.     The air conditioner was blowing out hot air. The tie wrap busted, and the wire went on to something, and shorted it. So, the tech had to replace the wire, and then re-tie wrap it. I called American Home Shield after I had that service completed, and told them that I forgot that our air ducts in the attic needed to be replaced. I requested somebody to see it, and I put in a formal request. I talked to somebody regarding having them use the same ticket, so I didn’t have to pay $75 again to have that company fix my air duct thingies.

    I appreciate American Home Shield but I was pretty upset with what they're doing. They automatically pulled money out of my checking account each month, because I gave them approval to do that. It used to be $45, and now, they don’t even give me a notice. They just told me tha they sent me the renewal bills. But they don’t send anything in email that says my bill is going up. So, they just start taking more money out whenever they want to. So I told them that for that alone, they should replace my heating ducts and not make me pay $75 again. But I’ve been waiting for close to a month now. American Home Shield still has not called me back.

    Overall, I like their service. I don’t have a problem with American Home Shield, but it’s a wee bit frustrating. All of these are very hard to read. It takes me a really long time to even find my policy number. I’ve had them for a lot of years, but on a yearly basis, it’s almost like they change my policy number when it renews. And then, I would call in, and I would give them my name, and they didn’t even know who I was. They don't know me, but yet, they're taking my money. I would tell them the policy number that I found, but they would tell me that it has been changed to another policy number. It’s really frustrating. In fact, I can’t even go online and do online. If I would go online and submit a request, it doesn’t know who I am. But if I call up and talk to the guy, they finally find my account.

    Our AC was turning on, but there was no cold air, so it wasn’t cooling. I filed a claim online to AHS and it was extremely simple and fast. The contractors set up an appointment and then they came in. The gentleman was extremely helpful. He was explaining what was going on. He checked everything he needed to check. I don’t know much about cooling, but he seemed like he definitely knew what he was doing. And he said there was a certain issue. It was like a fuse that burned because there was a wiring issue. So, he fixed the wiring issue and he replaced that, and everything started working and it’s been working ever since.     We had an AC claim with AHS and when we submitted it, they got back with us almost immediately in email. And they sent the provider's name that was gonna be out. But it took the gentleman a while to get out there. We filed the claim on Thursday and I thought he was gonna be calling me, but we called him the following Monday and he said that he could get out to look at it Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. Then, he didn't show up Tuesday, so I called him again Wednesday. And he called me on Tuesday and told me that I was supposed to call him and make an appointment. But I've always spoken to him a couple of times. Anyway, he did a fine job when he was out there. It wasn't anything too serious.     I totally had my doubts about Absolute Paradise Cooling & Heating because I had never heard of them but they were great. I was very pleased with the technician. My compressor was going out and they said they didn't know what American Home Shield was going to do, that American Home Shield doesn't like replacing whole units but that they were going to push for it because it was what I needed.

    I was expecting to have a battle with American Home Shield to defend that we needed the compressor but the contractor did it for me so I was extremely happy about that. I don't think that American Home Shield was a problem either though. I got a call from them saying all was good and in a little over a week, Absolute Paradise was able to come and do the work. They did a great job. I was even a little unhappy because they didn't put a cover down. My carpet was dirty and I couldn't just vacuum it. But they paid to have my carpet cleaned. That was very nice.

    My only complaint about American Home Shield is that whoever they contact for work takes 24 hours to get back. If I'm submitting my claim some time Thursday, it's Monday before I hear back. No one usually calls me within 24 hours. It's always after. So if it's an emergency, that can be a problem. It's also very difficult to get through to a human to file a claim and sometimes the menu is so limited for what I'm needing. Rarely has there been a correct answer for me. But it never presented to be a big problem either. I've also heard nightmare stories about other warranty companies not covering much in fine print and I haven't had that with American Home Shield so I'm very relieved and happy about that.

    Our garage door was old, and we knew that when we purchased the home. Six months ago, it started acting up as there was some kind of malfunction. It wouldn't respond to the remotes that we were buying and it didn’t close all the way. When we pushed the button and closed, it left a foot or two open, and so we had to reopen it and reclose it. My husband made the claim online at American Home Shield, and the contractor came and looked. He told us what model he'd be looking at to replace.     I’ve been an American Home Shield customer for over 30 years and I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. And I was also satisfied with A-US Air, the technician that came out and assessed that particular air conditioning problem. The guy was very professional. He identified the job and fixed it right away. My last job was a follow-up from the previous job. And basically, he had identified the problem on the previous job and installed a new part to fix that part. But then, there was a wire that came loose, and so on the second follow-up, all he had to do was tighten or replace the wire. So, I was very pleased with that particular individual. His name is Javier. He was very courteous and had a lot of confidence in his ability to do air conditioning work.

    With that claim, I requested service online, and I got feedback immediately online. And I got feedback on my cellphone via text. They contacted me within 24 hours as stated in the text to arrange for an appointment. And that took some time because it was on the weekend and on a holiday. But the interactions with the rep of AHS was what I expected and it was okay. It was excellent.

The repair that he did is working fine but we didn't know till yesterday that it leaked down through the basement tiles.     My claim with American Home Shield went well. Once DDM Heat & Air got here the holiday weekend, they fixed the problem really quickly, and they got out here really quickly. My AC had completely shut down and they replaced the capacitor. They were very professional, and quick, and explained everything.     I had a plumbing issue on the control valve for the bathtub. The first company that American Home Shield set up for me was set up for a Saturday between 1:00 and 6 o’clock. I let these people know I had to drive in from that account. I've got the condominium for my daughter. She's going to college. But it was something I have set up. So, I had to drive an hour and a half to get there. I got there and I was waiting and waiting, but I didn’t get any phone calls. So, finally, I called about 4 o’clock to kinda get an idea of what time between 4:00 and 6:00 they were gonna be there only to find out that this company's office closes at 1 o’clock on Saturday. I found that kinda odd. I couldn’t talk to anybody.

    They have a feature where you could push this certain button if it's an emergency. I pushed the button, and I didn’t reach anybody. They said that service was not working at that time. So, I had absolutely no recourse or any way to contact these people. All I could do is leave a message. Needless to say, nobody called and nobody showed up between 1:00 and 6 o’clock.

    Later that evening when I got back home, I called American Home Shield and filed my complaint with them and then they went ahead and set me up with Advanced Home Services. They were top-notch. They got to it in a very timely manner. They came and looked at it and they had to come back the very next day because it took a certain kind of valve. The young man that came that did the service was very friendly, clean-cut, very professional, and on that follow-up day, he was there right away. So, I have nothing but good to say about Advanced.

    AHS should not use the other company. I left an unfriendly response to them on their voicemail but even then, they did not even bother to call or apologize. These are not the kind of people that should be representing AHS. Still, when I called American Home Shield with the problem, they set me up with somebody right away. They did everything they could on their end. On my other home out here, I'm thinking about putting a policy on it. I probably will renew my contract with them for the condominium too.

    We have gone on vacation and when we returned, we didn’t have any hot water. I called that in with American Home Shield. The rep told me that they would respond within 24 to 48 hours, but I didn’t receive a call from them. I called again and explained what my situation was and how long we had been without hot water. I told them that if they couldn’t get somebody out the next day and if they didn’t call me the next morning, then I would have to do something on my own. My wife had gone back to work and she was having to take a cold shower in the morning.

    Once I had explained that to AHSa, they called me the next morning. That same morning, shortly after they called, they had a guy from Hardy Plumbing out. He was really good. He was a really genuine, nice, and friendly person. He checked the hot water heater and took care of everything the way it should’ve been handled. He fixed the thermocouple and the heating element. Everything is working fine. The only thing about the experience was I wasn't contacted in the time frame that I was expecting AHS to. But when they did contact me, they responded immediately and with very good service. Other than that little time delay of the contractor coming out, everything was great.

    My most recent claim with American Home Shield was with reference to the two faucets for the washer, the hot and cold, that had rusted out and they had to be replaced.     My air conditioning unit was out so I made a claim to American Home Shield and it wasn't a great experience. I live in Southeast Louisiana so it's very hot and it literally took almost four weeks to get someone here to repair it. When I would call to speak to a supervisor, the representative there told me it was not their policy. So, the person who answered the phone insisted upon assisting me which didn't fare well for me. The other issue was after I called, initially, and they sent out a vendor, that vendor literally came to my house, did a diagnostic but never turned it in, and never returned so I had to call several times and insisted they send me another vendor.

    The other vendor who came out eventually fixed the issue. It was what the first contractor identified, so AHS gave him the authorization to fix it rather immediately. But he had issues getting the parts which was not his fault. It worked out in the end because my unit is currently working. Now, I have two holes with a leak in my ceiling from where they replaced part of the unit. I have texted the guy 'cause he told me if anything happens to call him but I've never heard from him. I'm gonna try to call him although I doubt it's gonna get paid for by him because with the story that he gave, he's like a little start-up struggling small business. I understand giving small businesses an opportunity. But what happens to the consumer when things like this fall apart? So, I don't know the quality of people that AHS is looking for.

    I'm fairly aggravated because I should not have to live in a home that is as hot as it was and the sense of urgency was not there. I pay AHS every month. It's deducted out of my account without fail and I literally did not receive any amount of customer service that I have gotten in the past or that I would have expected for something as critical as the air conditioning unit going out in the middle of the summer. Keep in mind that there were three different times I had to literally take off work to be here for the first vendor and the second vendor, twice, because the first time he came, he was in the attic, pulling the unit apart and then he got notified that the parts weren't in. So then, he had to come back a second day.

    My husband and I really have sit down to determine whether we're gonna keep the services or not because this experience, above all others, was my worst. I've never had a bad experience. And I got no satisfaction. So, the money that I'm paying American Home Shield, I can put into an account and save as a rainy fund to fix whatever happens next.

    The contractor from Sears was fabulous. He was there on time and kept me informed. He was able to diagnose it pretty quickly based on what I saw. He troubleshot a couple of different things, which was nice. He even sat around to make sure the dishwasher started the cycle, which I appreciated 'cause my fear is that he was gonna do one thing to make it work and then bounce out and then it turned out to be another thing. So, it worked out great.

    Submitting that claim online to AHS was easy, but the system kept timing out when I would submit it. I submitted it five different times. And it was frustrating because I was also getting the refrigerator looked at and since that required the same tech, it was only one deductible. And then, when it finally went through, the fridge that had to get looked at, had fallen off. Then, I had to call in and get them to send another tech. Thankfully, it's under the same deductible, but it was just an inconvenient process. 'Cause one of the perks of their warranty is that if it's the same kind of tech, then everything is good. So, then when the fridge fell off, that was kinda frustrating.

    Everything’s been fine so far with American Home Shield. We'd recommend them. We’ve had a couple of claims with them lately and we haven’t had any issues. We had one with our AC unit a couple of months ago. We had one with our stove top and some plumbing issues, and we're still waiting for the stove top to be fixed. It’s a gas cooktop and there are only a couple of the burners that I could use. The others wouldn’t light. They take a long time to light then they just kinda blow up if they would light which is real dangerous with gas. There was another part or something they needed and they’re supposed to be out tomorrow to finish that up. I really enjoyed the service guy that American Home Shield sent out. He’s been out twice. He’s very thorough and explains everything very well.

    I submitted a claim to AHS online and the process went really smooth. However, when I submit multiple requests under the same category, it seems to be a struggle to be communicated to the technician. The email that I received only included one of the three that I submitted. So, when I spoke with them in person, I said, “Hey, just so you know, it was actually three things, but the email only said one.” The tech was like, “No problem. That’s just fine.”

    I had the Doyle's Appliance Services a year or so ago on something else, and they sent out a different technician. I told them I didn't want that technician to come out to my house so thumbs up to whoever came this time. He was awesome, great communication. My interactions with the contractor went very well and I'd absolutely use them again. They were able to resolve the issue. I need to follow up with them though. The tech reset the control panel of the washing machine, and it worked great for the week. And then, it’s starting to have some other issues again. We’re having some problems which I don't believe was due to what he did. I think the panel is wearing out, which needed a reset. But we closed out the service call. Nonetheless, I was very happy with them.

    1. Our microwave stopped working. 2. American Home Shield sent out someone to verify the microwave stopped working. 3. We were told to order a new microwave. 4. New microwave came. Took time off work for the install and rushed back to work. 5. When I returned home, I had time to inspect the microwave. Saw that there was a dent in the side and the door didn't shut correctly. 6. Called AHS. They sent out a GE repairman. GE repairman said, "Yes, it's dented and needs a new door AND it's also installed improperly. We can't uninstall it because it has been uninstalled so poorly."

    7. Called AHS asked to have a company come out to uninstall. No one showed up. 8. Called AHS, told them the problem, and they told me it's not their problem any more. Call GE. 9. Called GE. They told me it's not their problem. Only AHS can fix this. 10. In the mean time, after literally 3 hours on the phone with AHS and GE, a GE repair man came out and fixed the jank microwave. My husband helped GE uninstall the (new) broken microwave. 11. Microwave is repaired and is sitting on the table. GE did not install it. Horrible, horrible customer service.

    I called up AHS today with a complaint in that I had a water leak in my attic from a hose which their contractor patched up (band-aid solution) last May. The hose was not replaced the first time and the second leak in it was patched up the same way. So two leaks in three months and the contractor says that they just get paid to patch not to replace. Both leaks in the same hose caused ~$2000 water damage (mitigation & repair). If the hose had been replaced the first time, the second leak would not have happened and there wouldn't be a second set of damage repair charges.

    So when I called them up I asked to speak to a supervisor who called me back 5 hours later. He says he is following through on this with the plumbers who came out to fix the leak and says that they'll get with me by the week's end. However, the number was an Atlanta one (**) and when I called back it went to a voicemail of some who works for Allied Interstate!!!! Has anyone else had similar issues to this? Why would AHS use a bogus number?

    We are under contract and have been trying to get dishwasher repaired since last May. Technicians have been out, taken pictures submitted them to their company and explained that the hoses are dirty and not worth repairing, it’s 18, but because it is is still functioning AHS will not repair. It does not clean dishes!! I feel the company that sends the technician may get a reward from AHS for not stating that is needs to be repaired/replaced.     The ice maker on my freezer broke the first week of June. My dryer broke a couple of weeks later. Here we are nearly to September and neither are working. The repair people have wasted my time and my money ($100 co-pay for each) and AHS won't do anything about it. I've asked for a refund on the $200, but they refused. I used Sears for years and switched to AHS thinking it would be better. Biggest mistake I've ever made. Am trying to cancel my contract with them so I can switch back to a company that actually gets things fixed.

    I requested a service to fix my washer and dryer 6 weeks ago. AHS referred me to their contractor Nana Appliance Repair. Since then I have been begging both AHS and the contractor to come and fix the washer and dryer with no response from either companies. Every time I contact them they say, "We will escalate this issue" but after all it is my washer and dryer which is not working and after 6 weeks of escalating the issue to their managers and different departments nothing happened. One thing AHS is absolutely good at is charging your credit card as soon as you contact them but when it comes to service it goes into a black hole.

    Our A/C for our home in TN was not working so I placed a service request online. The technician came out and advised that the evap coil and condenser needed to be replaced. AHS denied the technician recommendation to replace the A/C condenser, approved the evap coil and a coolant recharge. This same technician has been out to our house many times over the past year to work on the A/C and really thought the condenser was bad - it is 24 years old. Plus we have had the system recharged several times at $600 each time because AHS only covers a little of the coolant charge.

    I called AHS on 19 Aug to ask for reconsideration because of all the problems we have had and the unit and the technician's recommendation was to replace the unit. The service rep didn't understand me and kept saying I had to pay $616 for the coolant recharge and I kept saying I was calling about the condenser. Then he hung up on me. I called back on 21 Aug and after speaking for 1 hour 8 minutes I was told the condenser replacement would be covered and to call back once I had the bill. I called back to find out where to send the bill and was told it would not be covered because I did not follow the proper procedures. Now I am out $2490 on a covered item that needed to be replaced because the customer service representatives lie to get you off the phone.

    The contractor came out and looked at the washer, and everything that he did was great. His diagnosis was right on the money. The only thing that I have a question about is that on that last claim that I had, they charged me more money than I normally pay. My contract shows that the fee would be $75, and they charged me $81 and some odd cents for my service fee that day. I don’t understand that and they never have resolved it. I’ve been with American Home Shield ever since we’ve lived here which is going on six years now. I’ve always paid a $75 service fee. I would like to know why they charged more than $75 on this last service claim. Someone’s gonna have to tell me why that happened ‘cause I had no information on it at all. I talked to them when it happened ‘cause I wasn’t very happy about it. They’re supposed to be working on it so I guess I’ll hear something from them soon.

    Another thing is it’s always hard to get someone on the phone. When I call to file a claim, it takes me forever to get a customer service person. I’m not prejudiced or anything, but a lot of the employees they have working for them on the phone are very hard to understand. I know they’re from another country, but the communication is very difficult. Getting them to understand what you say is difficult and I’m sure it’s the same thing on their side, too.

    American Home Shield sent Air Design AC & Heating, and they did a good job. The house wasn’t cooling the way that we thought it should’ve been cooling. We had a thermostat on the bottom floor that we couldn't program because the up and down button was damaged and we couldn't move the thermostat at all. So, we bought a new thermostat. And they changed the thermostat, but he also went and he checked the whole unit while he was out here and told us what the problem was. And he had to put Freon in it, but he fixed it very good. We’re very satisfied with the service that they provided. We were told that the air condition unit had been serviced, and he said that it wasn’t serviced at all. So, he came out and he did a good job.

    If I see a problem and we think we need to report to American Home Shield, it’s quicker for me just to pull out a cellphone and call in. The reps usually get an email out right away. A couple of times, I’ve had to call in and have them reach out again to the mechanic, and they were pretty quick about doing that. I appreciate that American Home Shield has some folks that seem to know what they’re doing. I’ve had a couple of them come by but whoever came out the last time seemed pretty knowledgeable. He was probably the best.

    We have three AC units in the house and he was the only one that took the time to take the cover completely off in various areas. He found a couple of pipes that had been vibrating or rubbing against each other that had not been detected before. He said over time, that will wear a small hole where all the fluid will come out. He was more curious about what the root cause of the problem was and dug in a little further and found it. It comes with experience. He mentioned seeing something like that before with this unit. If the people coming out have never worked on a particular unit before, they may not really know what they’re looking for. The guy who’d come out before that hadn’t noticed that at all. He just checked the pressure and refilled it. But we haven’t had any issues with the units that have been worked on.

    Some of the receptacles failed and submitting the claim for it with AHS went pretty well. I spoke to someone and made an appointment. The guy from Washington Electrician Service did a real good job. He seemed very expert. He knew exactly what to look for and how to test the receptacles to see which one failed, and he worked very efficiently. Everything seems to be working since the service. There was just one ground-fault receptacle located in my daughter's bedroom that he was unable to fix because my daughter had work and got in late that night.     I had a washer machine belt that was making noise and a dishwasher that wasn't working. When submitting a claim to AHS, I prefer to do it online, which was really, really easy. I filed the claim on a Friday, and the contractor came out the next week. I can function without a washer and a dishwasher anyway, unlike air conditioner. The same company came out to do both the repairs. The washer was done the same day, there was actually nothing wrong with it. But they had to order parts for the dishwasher, which took about two weeks, but it was perfectly fine and acceptable. The contractor was great and they communicated great. I’m a Realtor and I tried another home warranty for my personal house and they were awful. But I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to my clients.

    My claim with the air conditioning coils was a three-part process because it ended up having to get somebody else to come out, look at it and give us a second opinion. The first guy was fine and he seemed to know what he was doing. I asked him questions about what he was working at. He changed out some of the PVC piping and it seemed to be leaking. I pointed it out to him and he took a little action right away. But he didn’t change the drip pan. He said he had to order that part. So, it was still leaking when he left.

    They called back up like a week later after I was trying to get ahold of them and they said they were trying to schedule them to come out to put the drip pan in. They also wanted to pull and clean up the coils. I called American Home Shield back because they were saying it wasn’t covered. It had to do with wear and tear or the way the guy worded it, in his opinion, was abuse of the system. The manager with the call center came on and they set up a second opinion. The guy came out and he came up with nothing spectacularly new on it, but he did not put in his report that it was abused. It ended up going back to the original people, but a different tech came out that time to put the drip pan in, clean the coils and put it back together. The last two out of three techs that came out were fine to deal with.

    I love the company that American Home Shield sent out to my property for my AC claim. United Air Temp came out three times for the same issue, but they tried three different things to fix it, and then the third one finally did it. The first time they came out, they told me that the switch on the air conditioning unit for the compressor would get stuck when it would trigger. And then when it would get stuck, it would continue to push cold air even though the system wasn’t on, and that probably was the issue that created the freezing of our air conditioner. So, they replaced that switch. But that didn’t fix the problem.

    The third thing that they worked on was the fan itself. So, when the fan pushes the cold air through the house, there’s a condenser, and that condenser wasn’t operating correctly. It should be at so many ohms and it was well below, which means then, when the air conditioner’s on and the it should blow the air over the coils to run it through the house, it wasn’t and then it would freeze up. They resolved the issue. I’m not upset with them since they kept to the process of elimination. So, it took three steps to get it right. But now it appears, that my unit hasn’t frozen up at this point. Now, each time they fixed it, it took a little bit longer to get to the problem. So, I was freezing up every other week, and then it went to every three weeks or two weeks, and now, I’m hoping it’s past that point and they have resolved it.

    American Home Shield has been great to work with, but United Air Temp has been phenomenal. They have done everything they said they were gonna do, and in the manner they said they would do it. So, I’m very pleased with them. United Air Temp was very thorough. They show up when they say they’re gonna show up. They resolve the issue to the best of their ability at the time. They explained what they did and why, and what for me to look for. They said, “If this doesn’t work, we’ll come back out, and then, we’ll go to this next step.” And I understand that because I would identify all three of those upfront, then just fix all three upfront. But then, they would have spent money on parts that may be wasn’t the issue. But I’ve been very happy.

    Recently my icemaker wasn’t working. The guy that came knew what he was doing and he fixed the things like he should have. Though it was a really good experience, it took a really long time to get anybody on the phone. My wait times are awful, and it’s a little discouraging to have to wait through all that when you’re in need of something. We buy into AHS and expect a pretty efficient process. It’s ridiculous how much time I have to spend on the phone in a phone tree. The time before that, I had asked to change a company that was coming to do the work on my home ‘cause they had come before and they were terrible. Came to my house multiple times and did not fix things appropriately, causing water damage. American Home Shield wouldn’t allow me to change. It was terrible to pay for something and then not have a voice in who comes to my home. It's unfair to the folks that they provide service to.

    I'm selling the house. There were some issues that the new buyer had brought up that needed to be done from the inspection report. I filed a claim with AHS over the phone and we had Advanced Home Services repair some of the the plumbing issues. American Home Shield is the best warranty company that I've dealt with. There's no problems when you call in and they deal with it very quickly. They get very good companies that come out and take a look at everything. I was very pleased. I've had another warranty company and I'm not as pleased with them and AHS brought my faith back up, so it's wonderful. I've recommended your company to a couple of people.

    I originally called AHS for the AC and the AC man came out and told me that I had to get an electrician out and he couldn’t do anything with the AC. I had to call American Home Shield back again and an electrician came out and said that the fuse box was fried. And because it was fried, he said that I had to get a new one. American Home Shield's approval department called me and told me the parts were approved but I had to pay a fee of about 200 and some dollars. So they had to wait until I had that money because I was not prepared for that. But overall, I'm very satisfied.

    The air conditioning went out in my house. It ended up being an issue with the outside unit. I filed the claim online. The people I spoke with on the follow up phone call were horrible. It was just too much this last time, and I’ve been with them for a long time and I have two homes with you. The specific reason I have them on one house is because I travel. This issue happened when I was in the middle of the ocean, and I called and asked if this could be expedited because they had an elderly person in the house who couldn’t be moved, and it was 88 degrees in the home. They said that they could do that. When I didn’t hear back, it was a Sunday morning when this happened, I called back.

    It was impossible to get through to them. It took forever. I got disconnected a couple of times for no reason. When I got through to somebody, he promised me he would call back in an hour and let us know about the expediting. Because I said that, “The company is not answering the phone, so I don’t know if they can expedite it.” She said, “If they don’t call us back within an hour on their emergency line, we’ll call someone else.” She did not call me back. She did not call the tenant back. I ended up spending my holiday on the phone with them and my tenant trying to get this sorted out. And then when I finally got somebody, and she said that they couldn’t get anybody today, anybody to go out, she suggested that I call someone on my own.

    And I said, “It’s 6 o’clock there. It’s 6 o’clock PM in Nashville on a Sunday night, I’m on a ship, I can’t do this right now. They’ll just have to suffer and go tomorrow.” So, she didn’t offer to put them in a hotel. She didn’t offer to pay for any fans. On Monday, we waited for a phone call and I didn’t get one. And I was traveling, going to the airport, and having to make phone calls and help him. I had given them permission to talk to my tenant. He said when he finally got a hold of the air conditioning company, they said the order was canceled. I specifically told her not to cancel the order even though they had not returned the calls on a Sunday. So, they canceled the order, and then they called another company that said they could come out on Tuesday, the next day.

    I said that this was supposed to be expedited. They said, “Well, it is expedited. But it’s only expedited since 10 AM on Monday.” When I said I called at 10:00 AM on Sunday, they didn’t answer. She called and tried to get them to come out that Monday. It didn’t work. And she said, “There’s nothing I can do at this point other than offer hotel or fans.” And I said, “Great. I will tell them that they can go out and buy some fans.” At this point, again, I was in an airport on the other side of the world.

    So, they ended up buying fans, and I got the receipt for that, so I’m going to submit it. But this is crazy. This is the second time it has happened where, unfortunately, the heat went out one time at 5:00 PM on a Monday, and it was 22 degrees outside. And they said they couldn't do anything. I said, “Oh, come on. This is why I have a home warranty plan.” I’m always the person who lets people go in front of me in the line. If I’m not in a hurry, it’s not an emergency, go. But the reason why I pay for this is for an emergency. Getting through them is so tedious. And when I’m traveling, it becomes so expensive because I’m calling them from a satellite phone or my cellphone, and it’s really tough.

    My tenant was very sweet and patient, but even he lost his mind. Because apparently, he said, the person asked him four times to confirm that the air conditioning was not blowing cool air. Seriously? I hate to cancel it, but I’m sitting down, and looking at all of my bills right now, and trying to figure out if it’s worth it, and looking to go somewhere else unless something changes. Greenway, the company that ended up coming out several times, was great. Once they got there, they were terrific. The problem is American Home Shield. Service is great, but the timeliness is really bad. They don’t know how to have initiative and make it happen.

    We had a plumbing problem on our the toilet, and our experience with American Home Shield was fantastic. On one toilet, we went to shut the water off and the valve broke and wouldn't close. It just wouldn't shut off. And then, the other one just seemed to make this really high pitched noise when we would flush it, and I wasn't really sure what was going on. And the plumber was extremely nice and super fast. He did great work. The scheduling was super fast, too.

    I did the claim online. I love doing the claims that way. That is so easy. It was very quick. It's like three screens, click, click, click, and has all the options that I need. I really like it. I'm really happy with being able to submit everything online and just logging to my account. It seems really convenient. I had American Home Shield years ago, and it wasn't as convenient as it is now. And it was a really big selling point for me because I can do it on the go or on the fly.     I wanted to find out what was wrong with my air conditioning because my bills were higher than homes that were comparable to mine. So, I needed American Home Shield to tell me what was going on with it. I submitted a claim online and the website was great. I was told when to expect initial contact and then, the contractor determined the appointment. The interaction with the contractor was very good and they gave me a diagnosis but American Home Shield was so terrible. They didn't cover very much at all. I was told what the problem was, but I had to go elsewhere for the fix.

    Also, my dishwasher broke during Thanksgiving week. I had to wait seven days for the part because they wouldn't replace the dishwasher. AHS just replaced the part. A week later, the dishwasher and the part broke again. That was right before Christmas so, I had to wait another seven days for them to diagnose it and another seven to get the part. I was told that American Home Shield would never replace anything. All they will ever do is just keep repairing.

    On another claim, I had to have a plumber come out. The plumber snaked the drain from my home to the driveway, when the issue was really from my driveway to the main pipe. I was told they don't do that and that American Home Shield doesn't cover that part. So in addition to the $75 service call, I had to pay for another plumber to come out. Then, in this most recent one, when I paid the $75 service call, I was told I needed three pounds of Freon for my air conditioning, which is $110 a pound, and AHS a whopping $10 of that per pound. Not only did I have to pay the $75 service call but I also had to pay for another air conditioning person to come out and do what needed to be done. So, my experience with American Home Shield is not one that I would repeat.

    The dishwasher was leaking water and the keyboard kept blinking. I had to go through the runaround when I submitted the claim. JR was the last company that American Home Shield sent to me. Originally, they sent two different companies to me. Sears was one of them, and they said they didn’t find any kinda model number. But it was there. It was just on the top or the upper part. JR did a good job. They handled everything. They assessed why it wasn’t working, and they fixed it. But then when I turned it on and tried to run it, it was still leaking. So, they came back out, and they assessed it again, and the tech immediately got a hose, and he put it on a couple of days later. So, it was great service. They came through. They even stabilized my dishwasher to where it’s not lifting anymore off the surface.

    American Home Shield needs to have more supervisors available for when you call when there are issues because they have proper people on the phone when it’s time to make a payment, but when it’s time for service, there’s an issue. It’s like you have to constantly explain yourself. And sometimes, things are left out, and you have to call back. There's a lot of miscommunication with that end of it.

    The water on my washing machine wouldn’t turn off and I originally put in my claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor that was assigned to me couldn’t come out. So, Defender came and they were wonderful. I understood that they were very busy but they said they would be right out as soon as possible. What they had to replace had to be ordered, but they got it right away and they even came out after 5:00 o’clock, which was fantastic.     I've used American Home Shield plenty of times and ended up renewing it 'cause I felt like I used it enough if something's wrong with the things and for that stuff, it's great. This time, my air conditioning was out. They called to get the first guy and the first guy works by himself so he's really busy. He said that he couldn't get to me until Friday. It was Monday that time and 85 degrees in my house so I said no. I called AHS back and told them that my husband's disabled and that we have to do something quicker. It was not my fault that the first guy's a one-man band so they found the other guys and they came out. They put Freon in and I asked them to check for a leak because I just filled the whole thing up at the end of last summer. And then, in a day and a half, it was 85 again.

    I called the warranty company back and they had to send the contractor out, then they're busy and it was the weekend. The contractor came back out and then they know what they did. I asked why they didn't check for a leak when they were here the other time. They were not allowed to because the warranty company says if it's less than three gallons of Freon, they don't do that. So, I paid for the Freon. Then, all of a sudden, they said that they have to turn it into the insurance company, then AHS has to approve it, then somebody has to put it. The whole thing ended up nine days and I have to move out for those days.

    The good news was they fixed it and took care of everything so I can't complain. In the end, I was happy that AHS didn't charge me. But I was out of my house for nine days. There's gotta be a system that's better in place to go, you come out, you do the assessment, you call them. The contractor and AHS have been going back and forth. I was out of the equation, and it's like, "We're waiting for them. We have to get the new part then it has to go here, then it has to go there, and then somebody has to approve it, and somebody had to put the dollar signs on it." That was a way too long process. The timeframe has to be a lot faster than this. Everything else, AHS was good. It's nice having that where I just call with stuff that they're awesome for like the icemaker or the toilet's making a noise. I also appreciate that they're trying to help small businesses like the first guy that called who's like a one-man band.

    American Home Shield has done a great job of answering all my requests for services any time I have an issue. The wait time for the contractor depends on the contractor but it's typically no more than a couple of days that we're able to get them. Sometimes, they would come out the next day and sometimes, they would come in a couple of days. It probably depends on the time of year. With the AC, sometimes, it takes a little bit longer in the summer.

    The contractors for the AC were very respectful and nice but the first set of the contractors could not figure out how to resolve the issue. I called and they came out three times and tried multiple different things. They didn’t completely troubleshoot the problem. They just would troubleshoot to a point and think that must be it rather than following through on the entire process. I called American Home Shield, spoke with them, and they got me a second opinion. An AC technician from a different company came out and resolved it in 45 minutes. And there's never been a problem since.

    American Home Shield sent Mr. Appliance for the oven. The bottom oven quit working. Handing in a claim is really easy. I did the oven claim online. As far as Mr. Appliance coming out, they came out in a decent amount of time, and they called me in a decent amount of time. As far as coming and getting it fixed, it is what it is. I know there's a process as far as them getting in contact with AHS, and deciding if it is repairable or replaceable. It's a good response time. Once I get the oven replaced, I will be able to use both ovens again. Because it wasn't fixable, now I gotta go through the steps of replacing it. Mr. Appliance is good. I had one situation where we had a bad experience on the very first item I did a claim on, but after that, they've made everything correct. They've made it right, so it was good. My experience was great. With American Home Shield, I got someone that comes out and gets the job done

    Our washing machine broke. A guy came and said that there was no way of repairing it. Therefore, AHS offered a replacement. I looked and found out that that replacement didn’t have a good longevity as far as customers' reviews, so I bought a similar unit and I have sent in the paperwork. I'm looking for the reimbursement price. With the appliance, it went as smoothly as it could. Everything was great. I’m very happy with American Home Shield.

    But I had an electrical issue and I told AHS that something was working a year ago which is not working now. It slowly changed so it wasn’t like there was an exact date when it broke. They sent an electrician and he told me that what I was saying made no sense. I took him into the other room because I have two bathrooms that are identical. I said, “This is the way it worked, and this is the way I want it to work.” He said that was impossible and wired it a different way. And when he left, one of the lights was not working at all. AHS sent another guy for a second opinion. The guy came and didn’t even bring in a screwdriver. He looked at it, listened to what I was describing, decided what the problem was, sent it in, and it was denied because that was not covered.

    The thing is, what he was saying made no sense because he said it was the exhaust fan. And through American Home Shield, a professional electrician came a while back and had fixed that particular part. Now, American Home Shield says they are not responsible for any of this. It’s an electrical issue. It’s for a bathroom exhaust fan. I don’t understand why American Home Shield is not covering it or why their electricians never even attempted to open up anything in the ceiling or see what was going up there. They just decided what the issue was. Just five minutes ago, I hired somebody outside of American Home Shield to do the work. They’re giving me a quote come Friday. I’ve had an extremely good experience with American Home Shield and at the same time, I’ve had extremely bad ones. American Home Shield needs to get more professional electricians.

    Aaron Pools had to come out for the pool pump. They were awesome. They’re my regular pool company. There are only two accredited companies through American Home Shield and they’re one of them. Their service was very easy. The service guy came out and he had it fixed within 30 minutes. It’s been working great since then.

    I had to do the claim with American Home Shield over the phone because while they have an online capability, I can’t ever seem to get it to work, so I have to call in every single time. I go on the site and it tells me that I don’t have an account. And I have my account number. It is up to date. I do have an account. It’s paid every month electronically. But it just doesn’t seem to recognize me when I try to do it online so then I have to pull it and call in, which means I have to be on the phone forever until somebody picks up. And then it’s all good after that, but it seems so irritating. The whole time I’m on hold, I’m listening to a recording telling me that I could do this online. I was like, “No, otherwise, I would.” I don’t have claims a lot, but whenever I do, I have to call in.

    I was having a problem with my garage door opener. So I called American Home Shield, and told them what my problem was. They said have someone would call me, and they should call within 24 hours. And the guy called several hours after I’ve called in. So it was very quick and he set up the appointment for a day or two past when I first reported the claim. When the person came out, the garage door opener worked but he looked around and he told me that it was probably loose wires on the sensor. The door was telling him that it was a sensor problem. So he tightened a couple of connections - one on the center and two on the unit itself. And the unit has been working fine since then. I'm fully satisfied, and I would recommend American Home Shield.

    I was member of AHS for years till 2016-2017. Our AC broke down. Technician reported it needs to be replaced. They got the second opinion, the technician reported it needs to be replaced. For couple of weeks company did not respond, when followed up the company's supervise said, "We are not obliged to abide by technician's recommendation. It is our sole discretion to do or not do. We will not replace it. If you want take this ac out of the contract and can do so." I said "What?" I had to, l cancelled the contract.

    On the surface, it seems American Home Shield warranty covers a lot, depending on your plan tier. From my personal experience, appliances are repaired only if they're found broken. Parts are not replaced. Even if the appliance breaks down completely, I'm sure there are stipulations for when/why the warranty would repair/replace the appliance. This information isn't laid out in your contract in full. I recently submitted a request for broken ductwork repair because my contract states that issue is covered. I learned because the ductwork was broken due to any other cause outside of "normal wear and tear," the warranty does not cover that and will not pay. I paid a $75 service to have a technician come out to determine his reasoning for why the ductwork was broken. Keep in mind, there are free estimates provided directly from businesses for home service repairs.

    I believe the cost of the warranty from the real estate transaction is eventually recouped by the company after you total up all the service requests you pay for within your year. The reasoning is the important factor whether American Home Shield warranty will cover and pay the cost of replacing/repairing your appliances/equipment in home. So sure, many items are eligible for coverage under the American Home Shield, but will they actually be covered when something goes wrong with them? Hardly. It has to be from normal wear and tear, depending on the appliance. Read your contract. Contact the company with questions about when AHS will cover the cost. You will not be protected from previous damage done to the house contrary to what most of us think. In the end, it's not worth purchasing and having. Save your money to make the home repairs when the time arises.

    We have had AHS for a couple of years. The first two years they did a great job. The call center you called into was knowledgeable and helpful. I can't say that is the case any longer. Example: our fridge stopped cooling back in July I called them to get if fixed the first contractor sent out took a week to schedule an appointment and then was not able to fix it. After another call to AHS they had Sears (as apparently they are the only ones able to fix whirlpool) set up an appointment, that appointment was not until the end of July. If you are counting no fridge now for two weeks. The contractor comes out end of July has to order parts. Another two weeks goes by we are now in mid august. The contractor comes out "fixed" the fridge the next day still not cold.

    I call AHS again they tell me the contractor is ordering parts which is weird since the contractor told me it was fixed. They then transfer me to the buyout department even though it is closed. I call again and the contractor had closed out saying that it was fixed. They offer to open the ticket again. I am now at the end of August still without a fridge waiting for AHS a company I pay monthly that I have now spent a total of 12 hours on the phone with AHS and the contractor and still no date on it being fixed. The customer service team has no clue what they are doing and when you ask to speak to a supervisor you will be put on hold indefinitely. There are other home warranty companies out there maybe they care about their customer go with anybody but AHS.

    We had a service scheduled and the service guy from Rob’s Appliances came to fix our dishwasher that was not functioning. I submitted the claim online with American Home Shield. I had a text message that said it was within 24 hours that we would be given a call for scheduling of the service. The service guy came out and assessed the issue. He found that there was a computer issue with it, so he had to make arrangements for getting those parts. And then he scheduled another visit to fix it. It's been functioning perfectly since then. With the person who came out for service, our experience was great. He was prompt.     I had an issue with my stove and so I filed a claim to American Home Shield. The contractor kept calling me and I told them that I didn't have my cellphone and to leave me a message. When I tried to call them back, the phone was either busy or I had to leave message after message. Then they would never call me back. I finally got contact after about 10 or 12 tries. They came out after about three weeks and they said they didn't have the model number, which I sent them the information. They had to go back and order the part which now I have been waiting for another week.

    The contractor that I had before for my air conditioner did a great job. There's a motor that needed to be done. He had to order the part and that company did it quite well. That was in July. And then, in May, American Home Shield sent me a thing in the mail to where I could have preventive maintenance on my air conditioning system. I scheduled the $75 fee for that, and I kept waiting for the people, calling them and leaving a message. It got to the end of May and I asked when will the company come out. They said they couldn't take care of my preventive maintenance at that time because it was air conditioning time and that was more important. I said that I've had this since the 1st of May. They charged me $75, I never got the service, and I still haven't gotten my refund.

    I told the person from AHS about it and they put me on hold. I waited 15 minutes and all of a sudden I got disconnected. I figured she'd call me back 'cause she said, "What's a good number?" I kept waiting and I haven't had a chance to call them back. I would rate them on the low end of the scale, being that the quality of the people that AHS sends out, it seems like they don't have a lot of people local. I live in Florence, South Carolina and most people that come to do the service is over an hour away. I don't understand. It's not like I live in a small town. That's just a little odd.

    Filing a claim with American Home Shield online was simple. What is not simple though, is if there was a follow-up question. We had a furnace go out one year, and it needed a part. And then we had the air conditioner go out the next year. It was middle of winter on the furnace and it literally took almost four months. It is horrendous calling American Home Shield. You can file a claim easily but getting in touch with somebody is a nightmare. But we're pleased with what the plumbing guys did. The ejector pump was not working and we were having an overflow. Wade's Plumbing came and the tech was a nice guy. They had someone get a part, some sort of float valve, and got it running. He had a full day, but he knew from what it was, it was taking our whole house out the line because it was the waste water ejector. So, he fit us in between calls. I'm pleased with him.

    I had some issues a few years ago that I wasn't very happy with. My AC/furnace went out and I couldn't get American Home Shield to respond. I filed a claim and nothing happened. I called them and they said, "We'll get to it." I finally ended up getting it fixed on my own 'cause it was the wintertime and it was cold. I wasn't going to renew the next year because I had such a bad experience. But somebody called me up, talked to me and apologized. They gave me a credit on the next year's fee and we worked it out.

    Recently, American Home Shield has been great. I usually make claims online and it's very easy. My water heater failed and it was leaking at the bottom. I got online and filed the claim in the evening, and the techs called me at 8 o'clock the next morning, then they were out there that afternoon. They did a great job. Very prompt and I knew exactly when they were gonna be there 'cause I don't live there and I had to come out and meet them. I paid the $75 dispatch fee, and then there were some other regulatory things that had to be done because the water heater was put in 15 years ago, and the plumbing wasn't up to code. I had to spend another $175 for the extra stuff that was required. I was advised that that kind of thing isn't covered, so they replaced the tank and they paid for the labor, but not for the extra regulatory stuff that I had to do. It's been great ever since.

    I usually go online to submit a claim with AHS, when I have access with the internet, because I can't get a person on the phone when I call. However, when I go online and have more than one issue in the same area, I can't type in that I have two. So I have to put in a second one, and then pay two service call fees. But Air Pro Master and the guy that comes every time have been really great. Javier's really nice. They always come every time for my plumbing issues. And they're very reliable and efficient. I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield.

    I called American Home Shield to submit the claim and the interaction with the rep was good. The contractor looked at the AC system but what was wrong with it was not covered under the warranty. The AC works but we need new duct work and we gotta pay for that out of pocket. Still, I would recommend AHS to friends and family for the quick turnaround to have somebody out here that quick.

    My last claim was my air conditioner unit that broke down on the hottest day of the summer. American Home Shield got back to me within the hour and the company that came out had the AC repaired the very next morning. The contractors came right out filled it right up, and I was overjoyed that it finally worked. The only thing I didn’t like was one of the coils sprung a leak, and AHS only covers so much coolant.     My air conditioner and condenser quit working. I called in American Home Shield's number and spoke with a representative. Everybody was nice. The first contractor was coming a day or two later. Then, I called back, and they got another company that came between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning and they were here. They told me what needed to be done and they gave me a price quote. AHS said that I could either do two things. I could go with the company that came out and looked at everything. Or, If I could find another company that could give it at a lower price, I could take a cash-out or something of what they are going to pay to replace everything and do it that way.

    When I first signed up, they said that everything would be covered. Now, the air conditioner that I have had since 2016 of Feb or March took a poop and AHS said that they were only going to pay this amount and that I have to come up with all the rest. They needed to tell me and be upfront with me because I'm on disability. And they said, "You just pay $75 and somebody comes out. Everything will be replaced," which wasn't the case when it came to my air conditioner. I then went to three other companies and I found the one with the lowest bid. It has now been installed and I have to send the bill back to AHS.

    We tried another home warranty first and they weren’t worth even having. They never had any service people in our area. We went with American Home Shield and everything's been good. Recently, Heart of Texas came for the AC. The outside condenser, motor and fan weren’t working. It didn’t take the contractor 30 minutes to fix it and everything's doing good. They were prompt and came right away. I reported the issue like 1 o’ clock in the morning on the website and they were there by 9:30 that morning.
