    I just bought a house and the sinks needed to be unclogged. They were slow. American Home Shield sent a contractor out and he did a great job. He was awesome.     The contractors of AHS were great. My air conditioner broke on a Sunday and they came out Tuesday morning. They had to replace the motor for the fan, and they did it right there in an hour. The ac is now doing great.

    I made an online claim for two different things, one was plumbing and one was electrical. We called the contractor on a Thursday, and one came on the following Monday, the other one the following Tuesday. They did a good job and were very professional. They had to send for further work that needed to be done, but everything's doing good.

    I called the contractor first to give them a courtesy call that the air conditioner was not working, and then I called American Home Shield. I spoke to someone there, and they put the order back in. The rep took care of everything. She answered every question because it was my first time having something fixed, but didn't really get fixed. She told me she was gonna send something back to Air Link to let them know the issue wasn’t resolved. Then Air Link called me as soon as they got a chance to let me know they got the submission and my voicemail and was gonna take care. I let them know I was out of town, and they told me as soon as I got back in town, just to give them a call so they can send somebody out to take care of it. So far, everything is good because they came back out the second time to relook at the issue. I recommended American Home Shield to my family.

    I have a very large old house that's about 10 years of age and things go out every once in a while. I have a pool and I have two units for my air conditioner. I've used American Home Shield a number of times. I've never really been disappointed. I have recommended them too. I prefer to call them when I have a claim. Their reps are very helpful and brief which I appreciate.

    I called them for my 4-star unit air conditioner. The fan motor was bad. They sent me a message saying who the company was that was coming out. We're in Las Vegas so it's really hot and there is a lot of demand for air conditioning repair. The contractor AHS sent came out promptly. It was in about a day and a half. I used to be in refrigeration so I could kinda point the technician in the right direction. It was the fan motor upstairs. It was the one that blows through the heater. The technician went up there and found the part that he could change. He had it fixed and it was done. It was very quick and efficient. I'm very happy.

    American Home Shield has been very helpful but then their contractors are slow. I've had claims when everything goes smoothly. I prefer submitting claims online and usually, the transaction is pretty smooth from getting someone to call me to setting up the appointment. The issue is the process after that. Once it's in the contractor's hands, I'm left on my own.

    Before, I've had an electrician come who was very helpful and did more than he had to. Now however, I have two claims that are still open and it's been a couple of weeks already. I can't get anything resolved. I just found out that the contractor has 24 hours to make the order to American Home Shield. I called the contractor a week after the claim and they have not submitted the order. AHS then got involved, gave them a call and got the parts ordered. But then, the contractor came in with the part and told me that the part came in broken and needed to be reordered.

    I'm gonna call American Home Shield again today to find out if the part was actually ordered already for them to come back. With them, it's like I'm my own adjuster. When I call AHS, they get involved and make the call but then there's nobody else following up but me. Once the contractor is in place, I can't really call and say I don't like them and that AHS should get me somebody else. I have to go through the process. Once I get AHS on the phone and involved to help me, I'm happy with the service. If I was dealing with them directly without the company backing me up or giving them a call, I think it would be even harder for me to do it alone. It's the reason why I have this policy to begin with.

    The first gentleman who was supposed to come out here was from Diaz Brothers. He called me and asked me to give him the make, the model and the serial number on both the refrigerator and the dishwasher. He said that he was gonna see if he had the part for it. If not, he was gonna have to order it. But he never called me back. So I had to call him the next day. He said that he didn't have the part and that he was gonna have to order it. But after 10 days, I didn't get any response, not even a courtesy phone call to let me know he had ordered the part and whether it was gonna get here within a certain time.

    When I called back to the home warranty office to let them know that I haven't received anything from them, the representative told me that the part came in on a Wednesday. The contractor had also said that when he went to inspect the refrigerator and the dishwasher, he wasn't able to get the serial number. But he never came here. I had to give it to him and send him a picture of it. So that was one lie. The contractor also didn't call me until Monday and he told me that the part had barely arrived that Monday. That made two lies! So I didn't want him near my home at all. I called American Home Shield and said I didn't want anything to do with that company so they got me this other company.

    The technician from United Services of Arizona installed the icemaker and told us that it would take about 24 hours for it to start working. But after five days, I called back to let them know that it was not working at all. It did try to make some ice about three days ago. But I guess the whole thing was flooded inside and it just froze everything inside. There was no water coming in before that too. So it probably was not the icemaker but the line that sends the water to the icemaker.

    I called the warranty company to let them know. But the lady that I was talking with was gonna get the first contractor. I said I already requested I did not want them to come here. I wanted the same people that came out here the second time. I told her I didn't know how she was gonna do it but she had to fix this. But she was reluctant and I was getting upset because she did not wanna do everything I was telling her to do. We're the ones paying for the service and she was giving me a lot of hassle on that.

    I also talked to United Services of Arizona but they said they couldn't do anything. They said I would have to call American Home Shield for their technician to go back. They told me that they have something open on Friday and I said I would let American Home Shield know. But when I did, that lady was not very helpful. She said that she kept calling the office to set up an appointment but she couldn't reach them. She kept saying that they were closed. But I had reached them. Then she said she was gonna send an email so I waited three days but nothing happened. When I called back, I got somebody else and this gentleman helped me out a lot more quickly. He said there was nothing on Friday but he could get me in on Monday. I told him the sooner, the better, and I thanked him. So I had a mixture of both good and bad experiences with the representatives.

    I have a water heater tank and it has a lit flame. All the time, it was turning off. In the morning, when you want to take a shower, it’s not heating so you got cold water. It was completely broken. So, each time, I have to restart this lit flame. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and did it through the website. It was well organized, very precise and convenient. When you submit your application, you would immediately get a phone call from the contractors. That was the second time but the first time, I had a problem with the air conditioning and the same happened. So, I put in my application and the next day the contractor reached out. Those guys were really good. They came and immediately detected the issue, and they offered the resolution. Within two or three days, it was fixed. It’s working perfectly right now. AHS is awesome and I love them. They select the best contractors.

    My recent claim with AHS was great. It was the dishwasher. I submitted that claim online and the process was easy. Majestic Appliance Service came out and did a great job. This was the third time I used the contract I have. And the first time was great, the second time I had an issue because I have a garbage disposal that stopped working, and that was a really bad experience because the guy came and he said, "These stop working, they burn out. I'll be back in 24 hours or 48 hours with a replacement." But he never came back out.

    And then, when I contacted AHS, they told me that he had put in the report that it was due to a surge. Surges were uncovered so then, I paid out of pocket and I had another company come out and put another garbage disposal in its place. And I asked them, "Do you see any signs of a surge there?" And they were like, "No. These just die over time and this one's really old." So, it was just that person that put that in the report. And then, even when I called and I said, "Is there anyone else I can speak to? Is there anyone I can appeal to?" And they said no. So, I was like dead in the water with that one.

    Our house is older so I've been making a lot of claims at American Home Shield, so I'm very familiar with the system. I had an issue a couple of years ago with the dryer taking three weeks to get fixed. Recently, I had a claim which turned out to be two separate issues, and Rapp's Heating and AC was out the next day. The tech came in the timeframe that he said he was gonna be here, he fixed the issue and he was gone. He was very friendly and he cleaned up after himself. He also explained to me what was wrong. They've been here a few times and I've been happy with them every time they've come out.

    Blizzard Air came out the next day after I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. Our claim went awesomely. I did it online because the air conditioner went out when AHS was closed. I put in the claim on a Sunday, and they called the next morning, and the contractor came out shortly after that. The representative from AHS was very good. He was very educational.     My most recent claim was with an electrical service contractor, Electrical Service Pros, and they're one of the only contractors that I've had a good experience with. The tech's name was Alonzo and they did a great job. But my experience with American Home Shield as a whole has been very bad. I've had contractors come to the house to tell me they have to charge me outside of American Home Shield for something then if it still doesn't work, they would come fix it. Then they tell American Home Shield that they don't work on whatever they were working on. So it's been extremely predatory. All in all, I would say that the warranty is a scam.

    Submitting the claim is a learning process as well because the system is built in such a way that if you don't report it, they're gonna charge you. That wasn't really clearly explained. The online process is somewhat straightforward except there's a lot of limitations on what you can and can't select. That's because they want you to put the claim in as two separate tickets so they can charge $75 twice. People should call the contractors themselves. It'll be cheaper.

    When we had something wrong with our AC, my daughter called American Home Shield and they set up an appointment. The person who came was very good. It was bloody hot and we were without AC for three days, so that was good. I'm 86 so when you're old, that's a little longer to be without the AC. However, last year we had a problem with AHS. We have an AC upstairs too which is still not working. The contractor came in and they said it was a $1,500 charge. It really shocked me a little bit. I thought the whole idea for AHS is that you are protected for that. And I was really upset with that. I would not recommend AHS to anybody.

    We had a bathtub leak in my daughter’s bedroom. It was leaking through the garage ceiling. I filed a claim with American Home Shield online on a Friday and it was easy. They said the contractor would come out 24 hours, but it was on a weekend. I got a text that Saturday, but I had to call them back first thing Monday morning to schedule. The contractor from Drain Masters came out Tuesday, and was able to fix it and cut through the sheetrock. He replaced a faulty nut that attaches the drain to the pipe. And then, there’s a follow-up appointment coming next week to finish the sheetrock. American Home Shield has been excellent.

    It’s easy to go in and say something’s wrong but getting a quality contractor to actually come out and do it is a different story. Our garage door spring broke and Flash Garage Door Service was done in one visit. They were one of the best ones we’ve had so far. Just super. One thing AHS added recently is the ability to at least choose the contractor. More of that would be good, to have some choices there instead of being forced to let them arrange whoever they want.

    My refrigerator was leaking and it went on for about a week 'cause at first I thought somebody had just spilled something. It happened again and that's when I called American Home Shield. They got someone scheduled by the next day, which was quick. The tech had to come back and they had to order a part, but he was very nice.     I’m very pleased with American Home Shield. It's a very good product to have. We bought our house back in spring and AHS came with it. We’ll probably renew when it comes time for that next year. AHS is very much worth it. It would’ve paid for itself in just the one call we had. Our ice maker wasn’t working and that took two different service visits. The contractor came out the first time and my ice maker was working intermittently. They replaced the unit but it didn’t work at all. The guys said it would take 24 to 48 hours for the unit to get cold and do all the things it needed to do. But the ice maker never made any ice.

    We called American Home Shield back and they opened another claim. The contractor came out and ordered a new part. It took three weeks for the new part to come. The first time, it took about two weeks for the part to come. My wife was there during the repair but I talked to the contractor on the phone. He was great. He gave good information about all things about the fridge and stuff to keep it in good shape. The ice maker has been great after the repair. We got a full bin of ice.

    Some American Home Shield reps are very good. Some of them I can barely understand. Some usually don’t get what the problem is. It’s a mixed bag. When 1st American Plumbing came, there was nothing much to be done. All we needed to do was push a button. It was battery-operated, but I had no idea. No one ever told me about it when they installed the brand new water heater a couple of years ago, or it wasn’t in that even. It was just a fluke. It was a waste of time and money.

    The problem is that somebody comes out and says, “Okay, this needs to be fixed or replaced.” Home Shield finds about 15 different things that they don’t pay for. They’re only going to pay a fraction of. And the guy that comes out gives me a bid on a whole new, whatever, and it’s always overpriced. Now because this summer has been a hot one, I’ve had air conditioning problems two, three times out here, and every time I’ve been able to get things fixed just with a guy that I know at a significant discount from what the vendor from Home Shield sent out, was willing to do it for.

    Also, the cash out prices are absurdly low. They’re next to none. They're an insult. They’re laughable. So, getting a cash out really isn’t worth it unless you can get something completed for significantly less than what the worker comes out for that the Home Shield sends out. And I’ve had that work both ways. This last summer, I’ve had one where I went ahead and I took their work because it was about a break-even with the people that I knew. And the other one, I couldn't even take the cash because it wasn’t even near close. This is going to be the end of it. I’m not gonna renew. I’m sick of it.

    Thus far, I've had a great experience with American Home Shield. However, I had a problem with them recently. I have Pinch a Penny take care of my pool every week, scrub it, take care of the water and make sure it’s balanced. They also check for calcium which only forms when water has been in a pool and no rain or fresh water has been in there. Every once in a while, we pump out four inches of water when we don't get rain. That alleviates the calcium buildup. However, Pinch a Penny dropped American Home Shield since they were approached by district supervisors to make up excuses not to cover claims. Pinch a Penny used to sell AHS and it was very alarming for me to hear that. There are a couple of companies out there that have told me this as well.

    It's considered fraud to solicit a company to lie about something. That's how they get paid with less claims and if they could deny them. Even so, that’s not gonna give American Home Shield a good reputation. For my recent claim, they initially sent South Tampa Pool and Spa. I really got really hot with them on the phone as they were trying to deny the claim. I got through to a supervisor to have a second opinion and R1 Pool Service came out. They saw that the cell that was the subject of my claim was completely clean and it just failed just because it failed. The tech from R1 said that he doesn't know what Tampa Pool and Spa is talking about. There was no calcium buildup. He did all the tests and the pool was perfectly balanced. AHS covered my claim, put a new cell in and I was very happy.

    I called AHS to file my claims and the reps I talked to were good. One of the claims was for my washing machine and I dealt with a vendor called 7-H. They came out and one of the techs forgot to connect the water hose. It flooded half of my house. All my carpets had been wet then they had to put holes in my sheetrock and ventilation. So, the tech had to turn it on to their insurance company. They finally came out, did a guesstimate, and they're gonna get back with us on fixing our home. They were the ones that checked the stove out as well and the tech said that it was the breaker. But when the rep from Kelley Brothers tech came, he said it wasn’t the breaker. That prolonged me another week for somebody to get here and when they came back out, they acknowledged that it is the breaker. But all in all, I've been waiting for almost a month to get the stove fixed and going out to eat can be very costly.

    As of right now, I got off the phone with Home Shield and they were telling me that my breaker box is covered. So, I've been trying to get a hold to Kelley Brothers. I called all three numbers and I can't even get on the answering machine to leave messages. It's just ringing, so I don't know what's going on. Other than that, the techs that came out were really knowledgeable and kinda knew what was going on. Still, I don't know what the screening process is for the vendors but these last couple of vendors that AHS sent out makes you scratch your head. I've been with AHS for a while and this the only time I had any problem.

    We call and speak to someone at American Home Shield when we submit our claims. When Fast Response Heating and Cooling fixed the air conditioner, it went perfectly fine. We had a problem with PlumbRight though. They came over. They were supposed to fix the leak that we had under the bathroom that was going into the crawlspace, and also the one in the kitchen that was under the sink. The one in the kitchen was fixed properly, but the one in the bathroom was not. When I called another company to have a vapor shield under the house, they said the leak wasn't fixed. Now, there was a huge wet spot down there. We paid them for the service, so we need them to come back out and do it again. Therell has called twice and spoke with PlumbRight, and they're supposed to be calling me back but I haven't got a call again.

    I filed a claim for my smoke detector as it was not working properly. It was going off, not going off, then it would go off constantly. It had to be replaced.     Excellence Air was the contractor that American Home Shield sent out after I made a claim for my air conditioner. The contractor was great and I was impressed with everything.     This is the worst company to deal with! They have sent their 3rd party plumbing & air conditioning company come to our home to repair our central air conditioner NINE TIMES and it is still not working!! The company has replace; the switch, coils, compressor, Freon, connector, de-humidifier hose & the fan and one of the visits was to test the air coming from the unit!!

    Customer service refused to allow us to speak to a manager, placing us on hold for over an hour!! We used another phone and called their customer service again, finally connecting to a supervisor. Supervisor advised that he will send out yet another 3rd party company to conduct a full diagnostics on the unit to determine what is going on with the central air. So it seems we will be waiting again to have our central air conditioner replaced and/or repaired!

    Heat outside has been well over 90' with inside temperatures in the upper 80's (near 90' degrees!). We have a 3 and 4 year old and the heat inside is insane!! My wife is a real estate agent and refers home warranty companies to buyers all the time, because they are meant to protect homeowners in these situations. I must say after this experience with this company, this would be one of the worst companies to recommend to any new homeowner!!! This site forces you to select a star, zero stars wasn’t an option, nor would it began to express our frustration!

    It took me a month to get my air fixed in 100 degree plus weather. Customer service was a nightmare. I was treated rudely and when I asked for a supervisor or manager I was hung up on. I was hung up on at least once a day and I called every day for a month. Sometimes twice a day. I have written three letters and emailed Rex Tibbens. Below is my situation.

    I have written three letters to you and the corporate office. I have received no response which doesn't surprise me the way your staff responds to complaints. I had AHS a year ago and have since canceled. I have been waiting all this time for a response to my letters. Because of the issue below I am asking for either my money that I paid in or the money I paid for my Freon which was $780.

    I called AHS because my air wasn't working. The temps were 100 degrees outside so in the house it was more than that. This was on a Friday and they informed me someone would call me on Monday and they gave me the phone number to the contractor in case they didn't call. I waited Monday and received no call. I called the contractor first thing Tuesday and had to leave a message. I called again Tuesday afternoon and had to leave another message. Then I called first thing Wednesday morning and finally reached someone. I explained the situation and he said' "I don't know why AHS has my name because I don't even work with them." Now, I have been without air for 5 days and it is over 100 degrees in my house.

    I called AHS back and informed them the contractor is stating he doesn't work with AHS. So they set me up with another contractor AmeriServe. They finally came out and told me I needed a new compressor. He said they had to call AHS so they can order the part. Once the part comes in AHS will send it to them and they will put it in. I called AHS to see how long it would take to get the part and they told me two days. So now it is two weeks with no air. I have a sick grandbaby and a dog. This is no different than leaving your dog in a hot car. It was just as hot.

    I waited two days and no part. I called AHS every day to see where my part was. When I called I was either hung up on or treated like crap. The times I asked for a manager I was hung up on. This went on for a month. A MONTH WITH NO AIR! I advised AHS that I had a sick baby and a dog and I was told that wasn't their problem. ARE YOU ** SERIOUS! It would have been a big problem for AHS if she would have died from the heat. I would have been getting more than $780.00. I cannot believe a company can operate like this. My husband is a home builder and he is always asked about home warranties. Well, unless AHS makes this right he will not give any referrals to AHS.

    I have not contacted an attorney yet but if AHS doesn't make this right that is next on my list. I will post on social media, contact the news station, call an attorney, and contact the BBB. I expect as a business you want customers and want a good reputation. I would like AHS to make it right before they are forced to make it right. I am so angry! I have been ignored as I have sent several letters and no response! All as I can say is I hope you will make it right and I receive a response.

    Oh I received a response not even from Rex Tibbens but, from some Amanda chick who refused to give me my money back which is BS after everything I went through. They don't give a crap about their customers. I will make sure all my husband's homebuilders know not to sign up with AHS. They are a nightmare and don't care. If I were you I would run from this company. Rex can't even respond to the customer. Then they have the nerve to send me crap in the mail and on my email to sign up again. I would NEVER sign up again.

Our septic pump quit running and they had to put a new one in, but then it ran up because it's in the basement and then it’s right above my bedroom.     The pipes were leaking in the pool pump area and when I called AHS, they told me that there would be somebody coming out. The contractor didn’t call me back, so I had to call AHS back. Right there and then, when I was on the phone with them, they called and said, “Someone’s gonna give you a call in a few minutes.” We hung up and then the contractor called me.     I submitted a claim to AHS for my central air conditioning unit that wasn't blowing out cold air. Doing that online was pretty easy. There's a follow-up email that says the contractor has been assigned. It gives you a name and telephone number. That email is set to expire however and it disappears. Thereafter, finding that number if I ever need to is a little difficult. When the contractor for the AC came, he found that there are a lot of problems with it. The compressor went and the coil went too. AHS is gonna replace the whole unit now. The new one has been ordered but we've been waiting close to a month for it. It's been a little uncomfortable in our home. Still, the reps whom I've spoken to have been very nice. I've had a very positive experience with AHS.

    The coils on the dryer needed to be replaced. It wasn’t heating. I called American Home Shield and my experience in submitting the claim was very good. Everything worked well. The contractor left a mess on the floor from his shoes and my husband had to clean it up, but he was very nice, personable and efficient.     So far, things have been good with American Home Shield. I submitted a claim for a GE profile refrigerator that wasn't cooling properly. It was staying at about 10 to 15 degrees higher than it was set at. AHS sent a contractor who then came back a week later as they had to order parts. They had parts directly shipped to my location and their tech came back the following Thursday. He replaced all the parts and the repair went just fine.     The fan motor burned up on our AC. I was very impressed with Cutting Edge Total Comfort. It was quite warm at the time. The unit that we have is a Trane unit and the parts are not that easily accessible. This happened to be a two-speed fan that needed to be replaced, and they replaced it with a one-speed fan just for two days in order to get the two-speed fan. I thought that was awfully nice because they could have easily said that, "We can't fix it. You'll have to wait for the two days or three days or whatever it'll cost the other one to come in." Their work was very professional, and I was very happy with it.

    To submit the claim, we called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative. The AC was out and we had just returned from vacation. So, the service was timely, and it was necessary to do it to expedite it as quickly as possible. Our experience was good. I haven't had many claims, and I'm glad I haven't, but that was done very professionally. I appreciate them doing the extra mile, so that we could have some AC upstairs. I was very pleased with them.

    I had a light switch in my ceiling fan that went bad, and I made a claim at American Home Shield online which was pretty user-friendly. The expectation for a contractor was within 24 to 48 hours, and they met it. The contractor fixed the light switch in front of me.     The door springs in the garage door literally broke at once, and I saw afterwards that they were rusty. Surprisingly, one door apparently put a lot of load on the other one and the other one broke, too. The garage door was down, so in the morning when I went to open it, I couldn’t open the door. The car got stuck there and I was in a desperate situation.

    I put a request at American Home Shield, and I have to give them a huge credit. Compared to before, when you called their number for any reason, it took an hour for people to answer. These days it goes so quickly, which is impressive and I really appreciate it. That’s an amazing initial step. Also, their request form is really good the way that it is, though I would add a free note type of section for when I submit a request for service, so I can fill in some notes that this is what I would like. Otherwise, everything is great. AHS has always been really good, but on this part, it’s unbelievably important and improved dramatically.

    Another thing that is really good with American Home Shield that’s never been before is that when you're scheduled with the contractor who is coming for repair, you’re getting an e-mail and then if you click on the link, it tells you what the next step is and when the schedule is. When the repairman is on the way to your house, they give you an indication when he will be arriving and it shows on the map the route that he’s taking to come to your house, which in my opinion is really good. That's a really good improvement. The repair man that came to our house was outstanding. He was so good at his job. Within 15 minutes, he was done with everything, cleaned up the whole thing and then he left. Very professional, great service. American Home Shield surpassed what they should do.

    Our main air condition unit fan motor stopped working so I submitted a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. They had to get with Rescue Your Air first, and I got an email within the day from Rescue Your Air about when the day and the approximate time they would be here. They were great. Jason was professional and explained exactly what the problem was. I’d highly recommend him. They had to order a part and when the part came in, the next day they came in and took out the old, broken motor and installed the new motor. It's perfect.

    The contractor provided excellent service when they re-keyed all my locks and they’re all to the same key. I had to pay extra for some extra locks, so I paid ahead and did 12 locks. It was awesome service and the technician was really good. He even went beyond what he was supposed to do to make sure all the deadbolts had the holes he put on. He said that he would make everything secured as he could like it was his home and he definitely did that. Everything went really good with that one and when I was calling it in, it went smoothly. In our last house, the warranty company didn’t have that re-key service. So, I was really excited about being offered that because I didn’t even know they have that stuff till we got this warranty. So, that was impressive and I was very satisfied.

    The AC stopped working, so I called up American Home Shield and made a claim. So, they sent an AC guy out and he said that it was an electrical issue and not our AC. But it was like he wanted to hurry up and get over the phone to the next person that he was seeing. But I understood him. He was a little bit above his head. But I was really tense at that point. When I called American Home Shield to schedule the electrical guy to come out, the lady felt my tension that I had in my voice. She told me to sit by my phone, and that there would be somebody calling me and set up an appointment to meet me.

    I took the whole day off and I waited for someone to call me. But nobody called me that Thursday until Friday at 8 o’clock in the morning. As soon as it turned 8:00, I called American Home Shield. And the lady said that they contracted out to this person to call me and they have 24 hours to call me. I told her that that would have been something nice for me to know about yesterday because I would have asked for those information. It's irritating because she should have given me the contractor's number so I could call them and see if I could get a better and quicker resolution. I would have probably see if I could get somebody there that Friday because I have a mom that has asthma and I have a little AC unit, but she was only stuck in that room.

    I called the contractor and they told me that they wouldn't get out here until next Tuesday. I explained to them my situation and they said they would be here on Saturday. They scheduled from 12:00 to 4:00, and they came over at 8:00 in the morning. So, that made it so much better because I had to send my mom to a friend’s house that one night. The tech was wonderful. He got my AC up and running again, which was great. This guy had nothing but great things to do. It was just an inconvenience on my side, but everybody else did their job.

The technicians did well and since the repair, everything has been looking good. The water heater is better than our previous equipment and it has been working great. We’ve had the contractors out a few times and the technicians are very good. They do a great job. However, we had a horrible experience with the service when we had our oven fixed. The owner of the company was very rude to me and my wife.

    Our most recent claim with American Home Shield where Twin Rivers Heating and Air Conditioning came out was excellent. I would highly recommend them. Tony is very professional. When I submit my claims with AHS, I speak to a representative. Their system is not online-friendly for me. For some reason, I’m having issues with getting them to get mine set up. Every time I call, I get an international person. AHS doesn’t do that and they say, “Well, I’m gonna send you to tech support.” They send me to tech support and it’s an international person back again, and I can’t get it set up online for me, so I have no other choice but to call them. If you ask for an agent in the United States, they should be able to get one. The agents' language is good, but when it comes down to extra communication, they don’t have that communication skills. And I don’t have their language skills, so that’s a problem.

    The rubber piece of the bolt that connects the bowl to the actual tank rusted out so there was water all through the floor of my bathroom and I called American Home Shield immediately. They were able to take care of it pretty quickly. They said that the contractor would give me a call, and they actually did that evening.     I called American Home Shield three or four times for the same leakage issue at my rental property. Each time, somebody would start talking to me and the line would go off. They never call back and I just kept calling and calling. Initially, the two people I spoke to kept going back and forth. They didn't actually say what the issue was. They didn't diagnose and they were not patient enough to look and see. There was the AC tech, and then there was a plumber from JED. The first guy came because my issue was supposedly an AC problem. But then, the AC guy said it was a plumbing problem.

    Luckily, the last lady AHS rep I spoke to was very thorough. She went through the records and read everything. She said we would try a new company, YES Mechanical, instead of JED and the other company. She was very patient on the phone. The YES technician said that the leakage was in the main pipe that linked all of the condos from the third floor down to the ground level where my condo is. They said that the HOA should get a plumber to unclog that main pipe because it was a pipe that linked the whole building. Nevertheless, all of the techs that AHS sent were very polite and good in their own way. I was very happy with the YES technician because finally, we knew what was wrong and the problem was solved. The leakage issue stopped when the HOA plumber came.

    The YES technician didn't charge anything because the AC was working and the issue with that was only because the tenants don't know how to adjust it. He put it on for them. Each time I have an AC problem, YES is my preferred contractor. Their rep was very communicative. He sent me an email and spoke with me. Despite the initial issues, I still recommend AHS.

    I am a realtor, American home shield came to my old company every month to promote how good they are and I believed them. Even after I moved to another company, I still recommended american home shield to my buyers and have them for my new home as well. Our AC stopped working today, we called AHS, they told us they do not send contractors on weekends... On a day it is 110 F outside and rising swiftly inside to unbearable conditions, we must wait until 3-6 pm Monday- three full days from now for the AC company to evaluate the problem. It could be days after for the repair to be made.

    After reading the entire contract, there is no mention of a blackout of service on weekends. What the contract does state is 'loss of cooling...is an emergency as defined by the Nevada Revised Statutes...service will commence not later than 24 hrs after the report of the claim.' After years of referring AHS, I will never recommend American Home Shield to any clients in the future.

    Microwave molding cracked and handle loose. Microwave 10+years old. American Home Shield sent repairman to evaluate, his conclusion was it was caused by excessive force. Claimed denied. "Not normal wear and tear" due to excessive force. I asked AHS to explain what was excessive force on a microwave installed above the oven. They couldn't answer so sent out another company. I made a huge error in judgement, when second person came I stated "the previous company denied the claim for excessive force" could you explain to me or show me what that would be? He wouldn't answer and put report in quoting the info I gave him. Once again denied. After a very long conversation they agreed to send out another company.

    The microwave could have been replaced for the cost of all the evaluations. The third repair person sent a different report, stating that the damage was caused from the heat from the burners below which cracked the molding and made handle loose. Claim was denied once again this time was because it wasn't normal wear and tear. The microwave and oven were installed over 10 years ago and we bought this house with it as it was. I asked AHS if we were not suppose to use the burners on the stove! They won because I was afraid. Because the door was loose this could be a health hazard to my family and replaced the microwave....

Had this warranty for over a year and called for service 3 times, none of which were covered. After you cancel, doesn't matter how long you've been with them, they tack on a big cancellation fee no matter what. STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD and FIND A REAL HOME WARRANTY COMPANY!

    I haven't missed a single payment since I started with AHS. My refrigerator stopped cooling without warning so I immediately contact AHS. I'm initially told by AHS rep it will be 6 to 10 days before someone will come out to look. I tell the rep that is unacceptable. They defer to their dispatch team to get someone to come out the next day. That company never called me to schedule appointment. So I called them and they tell me, "Oh we won't be able to come out sometime next week."

    If I do the math the money I pay monthly to AHS could have purchased a new refrigerator. This service from my perspective is a waste of money and really useless. On top of that I had to pay $100 in addition to my monthly payment and I still can't get someone to even call me to set up an appointment to look at the unit. So I now have to miss multiple days of work, pay monthly payment in addition a service charge and what do I receive in return? Absolutely nothing! I must admit they have a great business model if you're into scamming people out of their money.

    We live in TX. We are going one month without AC. We have degrees of 103 and higher, inside it's 92-96. I have medical conditions. We have been lied to every day that we call, and messages on Messenger. They delivered a part to Colorado that said it was ours, it is not. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was denied, have recordings of a call that will make you scratch your head. We have been a loyal customer for 20 years. No one can help us. This company deserves to be shut down. I have been sick to my stomach and major headaches. This is so wrong that they would treat people like this. Every phone call that we make, they say something different. So frustrating.

    First tech was on the phone 3 plus hours getting instructions on how to rewire around a short. No short was ever determined. I told him I want the shorted component replaced, if there was one, not wired out of the system so he removed all the 5 or more extra wires he put in to circumvent the problem. Let me backtrack a bit. My ac system only blew warm air and I noticed the condenser outside was not functional. That was the nature of my service call. When tech arrived first words were, “Have you paid for the service call?” Of course I did that is why you are here. He checked the heater and it functioned well. He checked the ac and only the inside blower came on and the outside condenser still not functional.

    He then stated, “It’s probably low on refrigerant and we charge $95.00 a pound and American Home Shield will only pay for $10.00 a pound so you are responsible for paying me $85.00 a pound and it could take up to 6 or more pounds of refrigerant.” Are you willing to pay me for that today before I continue? I said, “If you can get the condenser outside working I have no problem paying for the amount that is missing.” He never checked if any was missing. So he spent a little time looking at everything then made a phone call. He spent 3 hours and 20 minutes at my house and most of it was talking to someone getting instructions on what to do next. He was here two hours before he checked the condenser fuse box to see if the fuses were blown. Probably the first thing that should have been checked. Finally after three hours he said, “I think I got it”. So I looked over his shoulder and asked why all those extra wires.

    He said he was re-wiring around the problem. I asked why not replace the bad component? He stated that, "This is how we do it." I said it looks Jerry rigged. He said if I didn’t like it he would put everything back the way it was. I said I don’t so he started angrily yanking the added wires out and told me he will be done in 10 minutes. He then picked up his tools and said he would be back in with the paperwork to sign. I then checked the unit and discovered the heater no longer worked and the fan motor would not shut off. Upon returning with the paperwork I asked him to fix the things he broke, heater and fan. So he unplugged the unit and said it’s broken. Get the next technician to fix it. He insisted on me signing a statement saying that the previous technician broke the unit. I said there were no other technicians near this unit. He seemed irritated that I wouldn’t sign. Made a phone call and left. I relayed all this information to American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield then contacted another company to fix my unit. The new technician, after 15 minutes or so said he could not figure out the mess the previous technician made. He then said the unit is old and should be replaced. I said, “That’s something you have to clear with American Home Shield.” Twenty four hours later, plus or minus an hour, American Home Shield contacted me and said it’s been approved but there are some materials they won’t pay for which adds up to $2,900.00. I asked if I could get a second opinion and the answer was No. I guess, somewhere in the contract it states that American Home Shield does not pay for everything. Customer pays for refrigerant, any wires, piping copper or pvc, any vents or adapters needed. You are subject to whatever the contractor wants to charge you. For example, $385.00 for copper piping.

    The copper is already there. They only need to add a couple of feet because the new unit is smaller. So today is Friday and when I called American Home Shield to complain about the prices and that now my heater does not work. They said they will not change the prices. Instead the first technician will be sent back out to correct their mistakes. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told I would get the same answer from them. I asked to speak to a supervisor anyway and was told, “I will give them the message and maybe they will call you next Wednesday, no guarantee that they will though. I will still put you on the schedule for the first technician.”

    So what I would get for $3,000.00 is a new unit inside my house that supplies heat and cool air. What I will not get is new ducts that run the air room to room. I won’t get new room vents. The condenser that’s outside won’t be replaced and will still be using the refrigerant that’s being outlawed in the U.S. in the year 2020 and the refrigerant that’s in my old unit is the same but I’m told it’s old and can’t be used on a new system even though they are putting the same refrigerant back in but with an adapter that I have to pay $285.00 for and charging $616.00 for the same refrigerant but fresher. I will not get a new thermostat either.

    So wouldn’t it be better to just cancel the warranty plan. Ask for all the money I have spent each month for an incomplete warranty and add $3,000.00 to the already $3000.00 that they want me to pay and get a whole new unit, top to bottom?? By-the-way, today, when I told American Home Shield that I did not want the first contractor to come back and fix their mistakes, broken heater and blower, they said they would send them out anyway. I guess American Home Shield will do what they want and customers have to live with it. I guess they don’t know me.

    I had to give it a star to share my horrible experience. But, it deserves no star because customer service is horrible and service people are incompetent!!! I placed my initial service call for my washer/dryer back in March. We are now a couple days shy of entering the month of September, so almost 6-months later, 8 or 9 service visits from 4 different service technicians, and several calls (including speaking with a couple of supervisors) my washer has been completely out for about 2 months. And dryer is still not completely drying. Finally, a technician with some sense came out and recommended for a replacement because the repair/replacement of the part that is needed would be more costly than a repair.

    I’ve been given nothing but the runaround from AHS regarding the replacement. I confirmed with a representative earlier this week that the technician report had come in and I would get a call back from the department authorized to move forward with the replacement. After a few days with not hearing back from AHS, I follow up this evening to be told that now they have not received the report. (I actually confirmed with the technician the report was already submitted.) DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - trust all negative reviewers, I didn’t and now I’m one!!!! HORRIBLE!!!

    When the AC wasn't working, the gentleman that was sent out arrived here within the scheduled time. He was very nice. He explained what was wrong, and he fixed the issue. He had to change something in the unit, so the fan could start revolving again. He showed me what he changed. And then he gave me my receipt and left. I've called American Home Shield a couple of times for different reasons. But sometimes, they make you wait for the technician to come out.

    My water heater has been broken a number of times, and I’ve been telling American Home Shield that it is an old unit, so instead of repairing, they could just change it. But they send somebody, and then they would fix it, and again, I have to call. So, the other day, it was flooding, and there were mold issues. So, I ended up paying more. I’m expecting somebody tomorrow again to check the water heater. How many times do I have to call in a technician before they change the unit knowing it’s old? It’s frustrating sometimes. I don’t always call them. I do little fixes on my own. But then I’m paying American Home Shield for the bigger things. Sometimes, I don’t even call them. I just bring in my own people to fix my things because I know American Home Shield's contractor won't come immediately and I have to save water. I’ve been talking to a few friends to see if I can switch to another home warranty company that has a quicker and better service.

    American Home Shield is wonderful. We called them and said we have electrical outage due to a storm, and they weren’t sure that it was gonna be covered. Because my husband is disabled, an urgent was put through and Copher’s Quality Homes’ electrician came the next day. The electrician was gonna come the following week, but when we said, “Jeez, my husband is disabled, he has a heart condition, we have no electric, the heat, he's having a hard time,” they came the next day. That was good. And then, the tech said he put it through AHS, but they denied the claim because they said it was storm damage. So, we had to go through our own insurance company.

    The gentleman that works for Copher’s is a contractor on the side. He said if we hired him, he would be able to take care of us, which we did. We paid $1,000 deductible to Copher’s and he came out. He’s also an electrician so he did our box on top of our home. Somebody called today that wanted us to switch over to another type of outfit. We said we're switching from American Home Shield.

    The refrigerator started making noise when the icemaker was making cubes and it was making shaved ice instead. Everything was coming out really crushed. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and their reps were great. I had called a few times, and they’ve always been very efficient. The contractor that they sent out fixed the refrigerator and it is now working fine, and I’m very happy with them.     We filed three claims online on the same day, one of which was for our GE Profile gas burner stove and GE Profile side-by-side refrigerator. The guy from Authorized Services said that it wasn’t the compressor, which was what we thought it was, and that it was just the controllers. So, we had to order one simple part and they were able to get that in the same day. They were able to fix it very quickly. Even if I had to pay out-of-pocket, without American Home Shield, I could go to Authorized Services.

    We also had an electrical issue and it was just the ground-fault circuit interrupter on the exterior of the house. The contractor came in, tested it, and said, “I have to replace it, and we’re done. So, have a nice day.” Again, he was really quick and very thorough. Among the three claims, the plumbing issue is still problematic, but it is being addressed today. American Home Shield is worth my money. I paid my $75 deductible, and they took care of all the work. We were able to work out access to the house and everything, so it has been very convenient for someone who lives 2,000 miles away.

    The only issue I have with American Home Shield is that if you call American Home Shield to schedule an appointment on the phone to report an issue and get the service, it takes you forever to speak to a representative. I have hung on the phone for as long as an hour. I know now never to call at the beginning of the week. I don't have the time to come and hang on the phone and the only reason why I called was because there was something I couldn't do online. I wish they would allow us online to speak to a representative. You can only submit a claim, or not submit a claim and call. If I have an issue where I couldn't submit it online, I would like to speak to a representative to communicate through messaging and you couldn't. So, that's something that they can make on their website.

    I made a claim to American Home Shield on the internet and they immediately gave me Passion Plumbing but I didn't want them. I wanted Anchor, so I had to call and cancel that one and reinstate it. The girl did it over the phone. Anchor has done everything they can but the refrigerator is not getting cold enough, the ice maker is still not working and the freezer is not freezing the food. It's an older unit and I don't feel like Anchor is the issue.

    I will recommend American Home Shield. I filed a claim for the AC and everything went fine. I just had to wait two weeks before they found a motor. What happened was that a motor on my air conditioning unit went out. I called American Home Shield on a Monday and that Wednesday, they sent someone out from Legum’s Heating & Cooling. The technician, John, was very awesome. He came, found the problem and told me everything that was going on.

    They told me that they will have a motor back on Thursday and they will put it in on Friday. But if they didn’t come in, then I will have to wait until the following Monday because they weren’t open on the weekend. I called back on Monday and the part came in on Tuesday so John came and put it in on the following Tuesday. It was burning up that weekend too. The temperature was really high. It was terrible. But John came back and fixed the AC, and it's been working ever since, thank God.

    We noticed we had water coming in through the garage right from underneath. Our laundry room's wall is adjoining to the garage, so we went into the laundry room, and saw the faucet itself was leaking. So, we turned the water off right away, dried up what we could, and then put in a ticket. In the past, it took a couple days to have someone reach back out, which, if it was the dishwasher, I wouldn’t have been as worried about it. He was very professional and kind, and he was good to answer all my questions. He also said that if we had any other follow-up problems, we can reach out. So, it went well. All the contractors that had been sent out had been good and always very welcoming for a direct follow-up if needed.

    I called American Home Shield for the washing machine and oven. I couldn’t get the light bulbs to work in the oven, and they had to be special ordered. And then for the washing machine, it would always bring up some codes and it wouldn’t complete the cycle when you turn the dial to clean washer. That never got resolved because when the tech tried it, the code didn’t come up. But overall, the contractors were very thorough. I would highly recommend American Home Shield. But the overall service charge of $100 that American Shield takes out is a little extreme.

    There was a capacitor that was burned out on our AC unit. And there's a switch that controls how much refrigerant goes from the condenser to the inside unit, and that switch needed to be adjusted because there wasn't enough cooling going to the unit inside the house. AHS sent out Total Air Care to us and my girlfriend and I set everything up together. She was there at the house when the tech came out and she said that the guy was really nice. He fixed everything quickly and it was smooth. And we were lucky that the AC didn't need any refrigerant because that's where the money is needed. American Home Shield only pays for the first $10 worth, but that's because the price of it went up. All in all, everything went well and so far, AHS has been great. We've also been able to set the AC where we would normally put it to leave the house. Eventually, we're gonna have to replace it but for now, it's good.

    The AC claim that I recently had with American Home Shield went very well. I was very, very pleased with the individual who came. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past, but this person was extremely professional and extremely courteous. I have two AC units and the one I complained about was shot. But the tech always took it upon himself to also check the other unit, and it was also going. So he replaced the condenser in both units. If I ever had another problem, I would request him and his company in a heartbeat.

    With the bad experiences that I had, a lot of the technicians didn't speak English. It seems a lot of the technicians now are from Russia. So there’s definitely language barriers. It’s also a cultural thing, where there's a lack of respect. We have booties at the door. And my wife's point is either you put the booties on or you’re gonna wash my floors. That’s the two options. And some of the other people we had in the house were indignant to do that, and then, they would go outside with the booties on. It just defeats the whole purpose.

    In the past, if they didn't seem to have a fix for it, they would leave, and it still wouldn’t be operating properly. So, it was multiple calls. It’s refreshing when you bring in one person and identifies the problem. The recent AC guy took it apart himself to look at the other unit that they didn't think was working properly, and he fixed that one too because it would've been probably another month or so, and I would’ve been making another service call, so that was extremely helpful. Everything right now is working. So far, so good.

    I thought the little drainage tube just gotten out of the pan because I noticed it had leaked because we had a baseboard that was warping. I got down to look at it and then, I realized there was water on the floor. So, we went ahead and called American Home Shield to have someone come out and look at it. The claims process went very well. It was filed on a Friday before Labor Day and I was afraid they wouldn’t be able to get to it till Tuesday, and they came on Friday and got it done. So, I really appreciated them getting right on it because it was hot.

    When the contractor got here, the door to our AC unit was locked. Unbeknownst to us, there’s a lock inside the door and I think my two-year-old grandson had locked that door and shut it. We couldn’t get it open. I thought the contractor can get it open but he couldn’t. He tried to take the hinges off but it won’t come off unless the door is open, and he couldn’t get to it from underneath. He went outside to the drainage, where the water drains out and was able to blow something up into the drainage pipe and it unstopped the leaking. And so, it resolved the issue without having to get in there. He was able to take care of it and it wasn’t anything technical involved.

    I did appreciate him finding a way to fix the leak in spite of the issue with the door. I was very thankful that he could do that and he was very good-natured about it all. I’m gonna call a locksmith and see if he can figure out a way to get the door open. So, I would probably be having a claim to have a locksmith come in and look at some locks.

    Overall, I would recommend AHS. One thing I do like about having AHS is that when something does go wrong, all I have to do is send an email and it gets taken care of. I don’t have to figure out who to contact or what to do. And for me, that is part of what makes it worth the price. It’s that peace of mind that makes things simpler. And I’ve been pleased with everybody we’ve ever had.

    American Home Shield's claim process online was okay. The air conditioner was leaking and it took two days for the contractor to come out once the claim was submitted. He was good and communicated wonderfully. The repair was done the same day. So far, so good. However, we are actually dealing with another situation with American Home Shield. It's just always different with them and I don't know if it's their rules or what it is, but when replacing an item, they don’t always cover the cost of the actual replacement. They'll say, “We’ll pay up to $60 to replace this part” even if some part was $200 and we can't buy another one for under 150.

    When we had an issue with a bearing in the washer, I called AHS and they sent somebody out to inspect it. It was quick. It happened at the end of the week, and then, the contractor was here Tuesday the next week. They were very professional. They took care of information and determined at that point what the factor was. They told me everything I needed to know and needed to do. The tech also told me what wasn’t broken and that I didn't have to worry about it. One claim was for the dryer, one was the washer. The tech told me that the issue with the dryer is pretty common and that there was really nothing you can do about it, which is fine. We can use it the way it was. On the washer though, AHS awarded $630 for it but the new one cost me $1000. I haven’t been paid back. But our dryer now works fine just like it was before and we ended up getting a new washer, so it’s working fabulous.

    I like how quick and easy it is with American Home Shield. It's not like a long process. I've been with them for about a year. When I was having issues with my toilet, I called them and their rep was really good and straight to the point. The contractor was good too and we used them before. They're from Abilene and we're from San Angelo. That's like an hour and a half drive, and they were pretty quick. They were really knowledgeable and they let you know what's going on.     I had a microwave issue and American Home Shield sent Sears out. The guy was wonderful. He looked at the microwave and said it was so old. He realized he couldn't even find the repair parts for the microwave and he recommended a replacement for it. American Home Shield took about a week and a half to get back and say that they needed to replace it. It was a little annoying to not have the microwave fixed then they came back and said I had a choice of this, this or this for the replacement. And if I wanted to chip in some money, I could get something a little bit nicer. That was what I did.

    The guys who came to install the new microwave were awesome. It was a father-and-son team. They called ahead of time and knocked on the door. They looked at everything. I told them we needed to take the old microwave out and they very quickly and quietly did that. They didn't make a mess. They were also able to use the box of the new microwave to put the old one in so everything was neat and put together. I had measured ahead of time to make sure everything was gonna fit and everything did. It was fine.

    When I put the claim in with American Home Shield, it takes a couple of days for them to actually send a guy out. We were three days with no microwave when the Sears guy came. Also, after taking almost two weeks to get back to me about the replacement, there was the scheduling after that. I would love if American Home Shield could find a way to speed that up especially for certain appliances. For someone with limited cooking skills like myself, it was a very bad week of eating lots of cereal.

    Leisure Time Water came out a couple of times. They came out once on the pool heater not working, but they deemed that one to be okay. But we later found out the pool heater wasn’t functioning properly at all. In fact, it was beyond repair, and American Home Shield had to replace the water heater. I did the claim online, and it was easy navigating through their website. You just go and you put the claim in and then they set up an appointment. They send the person out. And Leisure Time is the contractor they use for this particular area. Their service was good. And they lived up to their word and made sure everything was done according to what was supposed to be done and according to spec. My experience was good, they met the expectations, and I have no complaints at this point.

    Our AC at my rental place wasn’t blowing enough cold air. About a week ago, I called American Home Shield and they apparently serviced it. They said everything looked pretty good including the gas. But my tenant said it seemed like the AC was still not blowing out enough air like it used to. The repair didn't seem to help. I called American Home Shield again to recheck it. A day before I called, I had someone inspect my house because I’m selling it. They told me that there was a differential in degrees with the AC so that was another reason I called AHS again. I was just following up.

    On both times I called American Home Shield, their reps were great. For the contractors, my tenant told me the first time the contractor that went there was very polite. They took their time and they answered questions. Everything was good. But for the second time, it was a different person who came and my tenant told me the contractor was rude.

    Updated on 09/04/2019: I attempted to request service using the on-line application. One request was for my garbage disposal. The other request was for my spa heater, which American Home Shield has failed to repair over a period of two years, even after I paid out in excess of $500 in service fees, not counting the original home warranty premium I paid in the amount of $709/year. On both repair request applications, I was unable to complete the application, receiving the message from the site, "Unable to complete".

    Basically, American Home Shield, after advising me that my yearly home warranty insurance rate would double to over $1,300/year, was attempting to make it difficult for me to request service on my current plan, which does not expire until 9/10/19. They published a response to my original complaint on CONSUMERAFFAIRS, implying that "Resolution is in progress." What resolution? Have you ever tried contacting anyone in upper management, or in a supervisory capacity with American Home Shield? Try it sometime. It is impossible to bring your grievance(s) to anyone other than the rank and file employees who answer the phone and, mostly, couldn't care less about your concerns. They are there strictly for the paycheck. See for yourself. Call American Home Shield and try to get in touch with someone in management or a service supervisor.

    Original Review: American Home Shield sends incompetent contractors to fix your covered service need. They have charged me a $75 service fee on 8 separate occasions and have never repaired my spa heater over a period of 4 years. Then, without any advance notice, they doubled my home warranty insurance premium from $700 per year to $1,400 per year. Their customer service is atrocious, with 99% of their customer service representative unable to speak legible English. They have a clause in their warranty agreement contract that requires their arbitrator to settle any disputes you may have with American Home Shield over coverage, so, you cannot sue them to settle any issues they refuse to resolve. STAY AWAY! THIS COMPANY IS A HUGE HEADACHE TO DO BUSINESS WITH! There are many much better companies out there to provide a home warranty.

    I have had two service calls and each time the people they send don't fix the problem. 1. I have a main sewage backup. After a full 24 hours they sent a plumber who eyeballed it for 3 minutes and said it must be on the city's side of the line (it was about to thunderstorm so they clearly just wanted to leave). I called the city who quickly came within 2 hours. In the rain, the city guy showed me with the two pipes how the obstruction was clearly on my property. Since the plumber saw what the city saw, the plumber must of either been completely incompetent, or more likely dishonest. I called American Homeshield. After being on the phone for them for over an hour, they said the best they could do was send a "second opinion" plumber out, but that it could take up to 2 more full days. This is while sewage is backing up in my toilets and showers. They just flatly refused to dispatch an urgent plumber.

    I was told I could not speak with a supervisor because they were busy talking to other people I requested a callback from a supervisor, which of course never happened. In the end, I had to call a plumber on my own who showed up later that evening and quickly fixed the problem without any fuss. So I paid a service fee to AHS, got no resolution, and had to pay a different plumber on my own. I dispute the service call fee with my credit card company and AHS went through all the trouble to fight the dispute by documenting how the contract says the fee is 75 dollars and the plumber did come out on that date, that I didn't not request that plumber appointment be canceled, and that the plumber said it was on the city's side. All of those are true, but the fact is the plumber was wrong and AHS did nothing to help me. So they still got my 75 dollars.

    2. I called to fix my dryer not working. The repairman comes and says it's the control board which doesn't work. They will order the part. AHS calls few days later to say the part cannot be in stock until approximately 3 MONTHS later. They basically said, it doesn't matter that it would take 3 months to fix my appliance, my appliance is fixable. So they said I either had to wait 3 months without a dryer or they would give me a credit of the repair fee they would have paid to fix the dryer (like 150 bucks) towards the purchase of a new dryer (way more than 150 bucks).

    I end up calling the dryer manufacturer directly, who sends their own repairman, who magically has access to this special rare part and fixes it. So once again, I've paid a service call fee to AHS, not had my problem fixed, and then had to pay someone else to fix it. At this point, I don't think I'm even going to bother to ask for any more service calls since all that happens is I waste 75 bucks for AHS to do nothing reasonable about the problem.

    My AC broke in the middle of Aug. 2019 in NYC. (It is super hot). After 5 days AHS couldn't reach the contractor who had accepted to come for a service call, and approved for an outside contractor. After getting all the information (SEER, serial and model number) the outside contractor is denied because his price is too high. AHS is now trying to reach out to the contractor who didn't show up to come back for the service call. As for me, I am stuck on the long Labor Day weekend with no AC 9 days after my original submission. Just save yourself the stress of dealing with AHS by putting money in a savings account.

    Unsatisfactory Service - Lack of Supervisor Response. Water Heater failure/replacement service request: AHS had Amazing Plumbing company (925) 756-5526 perform the service call. The technician did not call in advance of his/her visit as instructed by AHS. Technician was reported to have arrived early. Technician entered property without authority - owner's representative was not at the property to authorize entry. Technician never identified himself/herself. Technician apparently arrived in unmarked vehicle.

    Technician did not provide written report of service call. Instead, technician tried to bill owner additional $560.00 modification and construction carpentry charge without explanation. I have been on hold for a supervisor for over 40 minutes - AHS finally resolved the issue per my request to send out a new company without an additional charge. Amazing Plumbing company is a ripoff!!!! I am totally dissatisfied and unhappy with Amazing Plumbing. I do not recommend this company or its products.

    Our family of 6, including 4 daughters, have been without a working AC for now a month during the hottest time of the year in central Texas. Temperatures in the house exceed 90 degrees with heat index outside well over 100. AHS has no sympathy whatsoever and will do everything they can to avoid replacing the unit, we are now on part 4 of the outside unit and $800 of Freon and 5 visits from the contractor. No one at AHS can speak clear English and avoids at all costs taking ownership and helping find resolution. It always the processes' fault. Well, I have now acquired an attorney pursuant to their arbitration clause. Additionally, I have contacted my realtor who takes care of all executives from my company and she has agreed to stop using AHS and instead promote hellosuper.com. Of course we are also going into the holiday weekend which will now be an additional 3 days before I even hear from them, let alone have AC.

    I had an Air Conditioner 2nd floor electric air handler that failed. AHS sent a technician out that told me I needed a air handler and proceeded to inform me that AHS would only pay to install the cheapest products and never used quality appliances. Mine was a R22 system which is being federally outlawed this year but AHS is not upgrading anyone until the law goes into effect. AHS would only pay to replace the air handler with a cheap brand and they would only pay 10.00 per pound for the Freon.

    Their approved technician with Yazd Mechanical intended to charge me 125.00 for 11.5 pounds of Freon $1437.50. I told the tech that my system only holds 8.5 lbs and straight away he intended to overcharge me $375.00 and he just smiled. Then AHS only paid the technician 200.00 to install the air handler so he was charging me 900.00 to move the fluid line, modify the drain line and add a drain pan. He wanted to sell me a whole system with a cheap brand for $7500.00.

    I decided to get a second opinion and found Trademasters in Lorton VA and they sold me a Trane system almost a thousand dollars less than Yazd Mechanical. American Home Shield approved this technician and they told me this was a good price. This warranty company appears to be in cohorts with their approved technicians and the homeowner is forced to pay the balance of the repair at prices twice where they should be. I asked the technician to approximate the time it took him to move the fluid line, drain line and drain pan and he said it would add 20 minutes to the installation. So Yazd was charging 45.00 per minute for the modifications.

    When I was was trying to get satisfaction from American Home Shield I could not get about front line customer service. They would put me on hold for 25 minutes or hang up on me instead of connecting me to a supervisor. They refused to provide corporate information so there is no way to escalate your concerns. Do yourself a favor and find a better warranty company.

    We've been with American Home Shield since we moved into this house and we just kept it up. When my water heater broke, I called about it but nobody called me. You kind of hope that they call right away since it’s a hot water heater. It was 90-degree weather and kinda hard not to take a shower. So, I ended up calling AHS. They had nothing from the call center. The guy said, “I don't know anything about this. They didn't send me an email or anything.” They gave me a contact number. They gave me the company that I was supposed to talk to, which was B&B Plumbing, but AHS didn't tell them. The B&B Plumbing rep just said that happens all the time, people calling, and he didn't have information. So then, I had to call AHS back and have them get the information to B&B Plumbing because the B&B Plumbing rep couldn't call AHS and get the information.

    But other than me having to call a couple times about the call center, AHS did a wonderful job. I'm very satisfied with them. The contractor they sent for my most recent claim was wonderful. They were very good. The tech from Allstate Appliance Repair was very nice. And since I don't know anything about the issue, he told me stuff. He was very knowledgeable on what he does. I just took the money. I’m getting a new dishwasher and I’m just waiting on all that stuff. The dishwasher will come on Friday, and then, they're going to install it. I’m very satisfied.

    I really like American Home Shield. I had American Home Shield when we lived in Arizona. I was with them for almost three years in Arizona, and then when we moved out here, we rented for the first year, and then we were getting to our house.     There are two homes, and in the attic of one, there were AC ducts and two rips in the ducts. Air Squad Heating & Air Conditioning came and did the service, and it went really good. In the other house, the AC coils were really dirty. The same technician, Marco, came and cleaned them, so it’s much better. They also installed a brand-new air conditioning unit on the roof in a different home. Overall the reps from American Home Shield have been very nice.     I could only put so much on the online communication, so I submitted the claim for my AC through the phone as well. My house is quite large. I have a split unit, and when the tech came out, he knew exactly what was going on, that I got a clogged water line. He did what he did, and it worked for a couple of days, then it broke and stopped. When I woke up sweating in 80 degrees inside the house, I was ticked off. I went and checked the units underneath the crawl space and it was full of water. Then, I went upstairs in the sending unit, and that was the same thing. The drip pan was full and I pumped that out. It took me about an hour, four or five buckets full of water, and then cleaned that up. I suffered over that weekend.

    The same contractor told me they will come see me today at 8 o’clock, but he didn’t show until 1 o’clock. He came out and apologized. He got it squared away and the house is gradually cooling down now. Hopefully, the problem is rectified. I wanted the contractor to make sure that everything was squared away. I didn’t have to keep calling these guys back. Also, I wish the scheduling-the-service was a little quicker because I’ve been waiting since Sunday until today for somebody to show up and just fix my stuff, so I could get this house cooled because I got a huge family. I have been paying American Home Shield for more than seven years now, and before that, for 14 years. This was the first time I've had issues. Nevertheless, they are really easy to work with and they understand my concerns. I love them.

    The AC line was coming out of the secondary. The guy from the AC company didn’t care and he didn’t wanna be bothered. He just walked in, blew out the line, and then the sinks in the bathroom were clogging up. The water drains out in the master bathroom drain and the water wasn’t going away. So the sinks were filled up, so we had to keep bailing the water out of the sinks.

    I called American Home Shield the next morning and told them that the AC guy blew out my line and clogged my drain. Their rep said that she would send him back. They sent him out here the next day and he looked at the sinks filling up with water and then he said to ask for the plumber. He’s an AC company. Then we called American Home Shield and the plumber came out quickly. Everything is fine since the service. Overall, American Home Shield does their job. The reps were good and I never had a problem with them.

    American Home Shield's service was perfect and great. I did the claim over the phone and everything was good with the claim rep. The contractor came to fix the garage door. Its belt was broken. I’ve been working with this company for a long time and there was just one time that I had an issue, and then the man who came out apologized. It was the time when he fixed my oven. Other than that, we are really happy. That’s the reason we’re with the company.

    It really bothered me that when I called to express my discomfort with the company, they said, “It’s not my business. We just contacted the person who’s supposed to fix your oven.” And I said, “I don’t have any contract with them. My contract is with you, not with them. So, you have to fix it. He doesn’t answer the phone, I need the oven.” Some things are really necessary, and to fix the oven, it was two weeks. Nobody could believe that. The other times were always perfect. Every time I call, I have the person the next day. The only thing is I never have the option to choose a day or the time. So, I have to ask for a day off at my job. That’s the only thing I’m not happy with.

    When the Polaris wasn’t working, I went online and filed a service request with AHS. A lady called a couple of hours later and I told her the brand of the pool pump.     I called American Home Shield for an AC claim. I was told that it was Freon and AHS paid a part of it. Then the contractor company called me and said that some other things happened so I got to pay them $2,000 out-of-pocket. That's a lot of money to pay when you have an insurance company. I’m paying American Home Shield a lot of money, and I choose to pay $100 ‘cause I've never had anything wrong with my house. The house is relatively new, so I was wondering what happened. The rep could never explain it to me. I also told her that I needed an invoice, which I never got. I never knew what they did.

    So this time, I called the company before I called American Home Shield and asked them if I would be under warranty if they did it 'cause it has just been 10 months. They said that they only gave us three months warranty and I told them that I never got the paperwork. That’s unacceptable that if the same thing happens again exactly and they won't have a warranty. I also said the same thing to American Home Shield because instead of ordering it online, I called them. They didn’t look into the warranty and check into that company from the last time that didn’t give me an invoice, which blew me off. They just checked and said that I didn't have a warranty and that I was told about it, so I had to pay again.

    I was wary of using the same AC company again. I live in Cedar Park, Texas and they are the only company here. But this time, they came, they fixed it, and the air-conditioning worked wonderfully. It’s an expensive rental house. So I take good care of my tenants. And the tenant said that the guy was thorough and nice. She said that this last time was wonderful and it was no problem.

    The claim I filed online for my dryer with American Home Shield went fine. The process was super easy. We set an appointment, and AMTEC Services people were here on time. They did everything they were supposed to. The dryer is now fixed and is working, so they were great. Everything went to plan on that one. However, with our AC situation, the contractor for that ghosted us multiple times. The AC people were supposed to come out Monday, but they did not show up at all. They didn't even tell us they weren't showing up. I got it rescheduled, but they said, "Put another ticket in." Still, I didn't hear from the AC people.

    I followed up again yesterday afternoon around lunch, and an AHS representative said, "Hey, we just called them, they said they can get you in between 3:00 and 7:00 today." And I said, "All right, great." So I ran home again from work, got there, and never heard anything. Then I called back and they said that they were not coming and that we should reschedule again for Monday. So, we've had an AC unit out for about a week just because they keep jerking us around. So I was pretty livid with our AHS person yesterday. It is not totally their fault, it is more on the service provider. But, that has been obnoxious. Otherwise, if it was not for that, everything else has been fine.

    We had problem with the microwave, and American Home Shield sent out the contractor. Unfortunately, the day that he came in, we had a power outage over here. So, the next time, American Home Shield sent another company and the technician looked at it. He was very good. He went through everything and he found the problem.     My most recent claim was regarding a blockage in the plumbing of my washer. The first time I made the claim via telephone, it went great because there was someone at American Home Shield to talk to regarding where I live and what was going on. We had to do several changes on the people that were gonna come out though. They were gonna send someone that was over 60 miles away, and it wasn't gonna work. I tried again online and there wasn't an immediate communication. There was also confusion with the first contractor which took days to iron out. Nevertheless, AHS found Scott's Appliance, who did a beautiful job. They came out immediately and were here on time. They were absolutely perfect in all ways. I would highly suggest for anybody in the Amador County area to use them as a plumber. I run a senior Facebook page with thousands of people on it, and I recommend AHS to everybody.

    I've been with American Home Shield since I bought the house in May of 2018. I just renew with them. I usually do a claim online, but this time, I did call because this was a repeat. I wasn’t sure what to do because my mom had the same problem and it was back in March. I didn’t know if I would have to pay the $75 again. I guess I had to ‘cause it was over the time, which was fine, but the first company didn’t fix it. So, the lady that dealt with me on the call made sure that she sent me to a different plumbing company. This guy did fix it so I was very happy. He fixed everything so fast. It was actually the owner of the company who was the one that went out for the visit and my mom said he was super nice.

    I purchased the warranty when I purchased our home. On Monday I filed a claim online. I was told that the plumbing company would contact me in 4 hours in regards to the garbage disposal and I would be sent a text with their information. Monday I never heard anything, Tuesday went by and I never heard anything. I called American Home Shield on Wednesday. I got a rep I could not understand and he said he would update my request I was on hold on a silent line for 40 minutes. I finally hung up and called back I was told again that I would hear from the plumbing company Wednesday definitely. Thursday afternoon I call American Home Shield back I get another representative and he says they will send it to dispatch and change the company if I don't hear anything in 1-2 days to call back. I ask what the new company is and he says there are no other plumbers they contract with.

    I asked what happens he said I can call back tomorrow and pick my own plumbing company and they will pay for it. I asked why we couldn't just do that today and was told it doesn't work that way. I asked to cancel the service call he asked why well no one will service the unit and you took my 100 dollars on top of a monthly service fee. I made a complaint on Facebook and they said to message them and never responded. When I wanted to cancel the service they told me there is an early termination fee of amount they do not know and is not listed in any of my paperwork. Horrible service and not worth the money waiting to see if I actually get the money back I paid for the service call. I'm disappointed in this company I thought it would be worth the payment every month but we can't even get service.

    We have a 20 year old dryer. It finally quit. We called AHS and they did send out a repair person 2 days later. Of course we paid our $75.00 plus our monthly fee of $57.99. Which we have been paying for several years. The repair man stated that the dryer should be replaced as it had a part that was completely broken and another part they would not be able to get. If they tried to fix the dryer without the other part it could be a fire hazard. So, this was on a Friday. I run a dog training business and I also do boarding. I go through a lot of bedding and towels plus our own personal laundry. Thankfully I had a clothes line so I was putting stuff on the line. My problem is time. I also work a part-time job and do classes.

    We called AHS and asked them how quickly we could expect to the dryer or could we just go get one and they could reimburse us. The lady said she saw that they had recommended a new dryer. She said that she would put a rush on it. We called again on Sunday. This time they said they would not be replacing the dryer but try to find parts and have it repaired.

    I don't have a fancy dryer. We priced one at Sears that was pretty similar to the one we had. It was 389.00. So we have paid for this dryer just in monthly premiums to this company and now they were going to repair a 20 year old fire hazard. Nope. We fired them. But before we could fire them, we were told we were in the middle of the billing cycle and we owed them more money. This is not the first time we have had problems with them. They have out sourced their customer service so much that the people you talk to, you can't understand. I recommend, put the money you give AHS in the savings. That way when something happens you can pay for it yourself and save money.

    Initiated service request on Monday morning, 08/26/2019, at around 7am. The vendor they use called on Monday and advised they couldn't come out until Wednesday. So, they showed up around 2pm on 08/28/2019. Repairman was there for 10 minutes and advised my spouse that they needed to order a part, a gas control valve. Said it would be a few days until the part comes in and then they will contact me to come back out. Why does a plumbing company have to order a standard operating part for a gas water heater? Home Depot and Lowe's both sell them, so I am confused.

    I understand hot water isn't essential for survival, however I have a 10 month old, a 5 year old, and my mother in law at the house. Labor Day is this weekend so I'm probably looking at next week before anything gets done. Why do they treat their paying customers like DIRT!!?? This should have been an easy fix, but yet they are making it difficult by insisting this vendor order the part. More than likely, as with our A/C compressor, they are looking for a refurbished model. I would stay away from this SCAM of a company. I would go into detail regarding their horrific outsourced customer service, but I feel that adds absolutely no value to my complaint. They need to overhaul the way they treat folks. Guess we're stuck with COLD WATER.

    Contacted your toll number 4 times today. Was hung up on three times. Purpose was that I found that you have been renewing my contract with increasing rates without my consent and that other customers are paying lower rates. I was giving the courtesy of calling you to maintain your business with me. However, your customer service system has done what it could to lose me as a customer. The first 2 occasions were transfers to retention with immediate hang ups and the third I was given the customer service number I called to talk about my retention with a bogus transfer again. 4th rep said there was nothing she could do to maintain my business and that I either had to wait or cancel. So I initiated cancellation after the experience I had today. I even gave a courtesy of a DM on Facebook with no response. Please respond on the subject of customer service, retention, and rates.

    I have been without a dryer for almost a month. I notified American Home Shield consistently in hopes of changing the contracting company to which I was assigned. Every time I called AHS, I've been placed on hold for a long period of time or simply got hung up on. The National Platinum Service out of Columbus, Georgia is the contracting service company I was assigned. They have been to my home 3 times and still doesn't have my dryer operating. The mechanic has asked for assistance through his company but the supervisor, Randy is repeatedly ignoring his requests. This company is very unprofessional especially the receptionist, Julie. She is very rude and lack knowledge when it comes to her job. She constantly lies and has excuses as to why I cannot speak with her supervisor. AHS refused to change contractors so at this point I am canceling my contract.

    I was charged the $75 service fee on Aug 9th BEFORE a tech even came to my home - the request was cancelled. I was told on 4 occasions (phone calls made Aug 10th, Aug 13th, Aug 20th, Aug 28th) that I could expect a refund in 3-5 the business days, then 5-7 business days, then 7-10 business days. Today is Aug 29th and NO REIMBURSEMENT has been made!!! I have been a loyal AHS customer for 15 years but am now seriously considering cancelling my membership. It’s not rocket science - AHS charged my checking account in error PRIOR to a service visit, the appointment was cancelled, and a refund was requested 20 days ago that I have not received. I will file a complaint with the BBB and Consumer Affairs if I do not receive my refund immediately. Seriously disappointed with AHS for the 1st time in 15 years!!

    I called in a claim on 8/18/19 that my A/C unit is not cooling....I live in Texas where the avg temp is 100 degrees. I have a 2 story house so you know by mid-day it is too hot to stick around. 2 days later after a follow up call to AHS because we have not heard from anyone, we were told it has been sent to a local company MJS. By the next day, the tech arrived and found that our compressor is out and he would notify AHS. Now it is 2 more days later, we called AHS and were told they are on the other line with MJS and will be in contact.

    Now I am hot and frustrated, Monday I write a bad review on MJS's website and now I get a return phone from the owner. Come to find out AHS did not follow up about my lack of A/C with MJS and the owner took it upon himself to contact AHS and speed up the process. As of Wednesday, 11 days after my initial call I have a working A/C unit. Had it not been for MJS going far beyond what they were having to do to get me cold air in my house, AHS did not seem to care how hot it is in Texas during August. Thank you Wade at MJS and hopefully AHS will do a better job with their next customer and their needs.

    Our air conditioning went out 4 weeks ago. I live in Tampa Florida and it is August and we still have no air conditioning. Our house has been as hot as 100 degrees with all doors and windows open. They have been giving us the run around this whole time. They did have someone come out last week to fix it, but it only cooled down to 77 then a day later stopped working again. We have been with American Home Shield for about 4 years. They do not care about the people who have to live in these conditions. They still do not know when the parts will be here. We have called several time and NO ONE can give us an answer. STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. I will not be renewing our contract and I will be getting a lawyer to see my options.

    On July 12 I called to cancel 3 contracts with AHS due to a poor experience on a warranty repair claim made in June. They sent out a company that walked in and said duct work is not covered and left. After a few calls to AHS they sent company back out to at least verify and test HVAC system. This is despite my contract states duct work covered, and both the HVAC company and AHS said it isn't. CRAZY, but it only gets better. I told them I would be cancelling and they said no problem. Because I had renewed 2 of the three contracts in April I had to pay an early cancellation fee on each of about $50, and a prorated amount for the 2 months I had the contract. I was told I would be getting a refund of $491.86 on one of the contracts and I only received $279.89.

    Over multiple calls, all of which I have notes, covering about 8 hours of my time, they ran me around and around stating retention department or managers weren't available. They kept repeating, "You only get $279.89 for this reason. You paid $695.88 for the contract. You have a pro-rated amount of $146.03, and an admin fee of $57.99 which equals $279.89." If anyone does the math you will see it equals $491.86, which I explained over and over. On 8/6/19 I was told they don't issue refunds to credit cards, by policy and their system shows a "Check is in the mail" and I should wait for the remaining $211.97.

    I called a final time on 8/29/19, and surprisingly only on the phone 30 minutes this time. Most of it on hold while they did research. This is what I was told. I would only be getting back $279.89 because of prorate and admin fee. I said I get this, but it doesn't add up. I then asked is it because I made 1 claim, and he said yes. WOW, finally an answer, albeit not a good one. So, basically, I paid $695.88 for the 1 year warranty. Paid $100 to HVAC (trade-fee call on contract) + pro-rate of $146.03 + 1 call pro-rate of $211.97 + $57.99 admin fee. So, I used 1 month of an annual contract and it cost me $515.99. What a bargain. I've switched back to Home Warranty of America, and happy I made the move. American Home Shield is the worst at helping customers and providing quality warranty repair companies.

    We had our A/C go out in our house. Paid the $125.00 fee. A contractor reached out to us so set up appointment. They were out within about 24 hours. It was from there that the experience was terrible. American Home Shield will send out the worst company to come and check the system. The company came out 3 times after it was not fixed the first time. This is all on the process of about 2 weeks. Every time they sent a technician out we got a different story on what the problem was. Keep in mind you are stuck with the company they choose.

    They made us wait 3 days after it was not fixed the first time and our house easily reached 90 degrees upstairs. We had to stay in a Hotel and incur expenses that were not needed if they would have the system was low on Freon the from the very get go. You call Home Shield and I don't think you even speak to someone the United States. When we tried to speak to a Supervisor they keep you on hold forever! They resolved nothing with the company. They sent out Absolute Comfort and AC. Was not sending their best technicians to come out and look at our system. I had to contract my own company to come out and fix my A/C right the first time!

    Issues with both my AC and called AHS as I have been a customer for years and barely used the service. I was sent a vendor who stated he fix one of my AC however, it never worked before he left the home. I called to have them come back and they refused stating to wait till the following week. I called AHS and spoke with several Reps including escalating depart to no avail. No one advocated for me. I was told, AHS does not control the vendor schedule. Asked several times to speak to a manager and supervisor and told that AGS does not transfer to leadership. Corporate has no email address for complaints, etc. Second vendor comes out 3 days later with a different diagnosis. It is almost a week since I called them and my home is still 90 degrees. I have to chase them for updates. No one seems to care.

    The Lead Rep from resolution dept, Carlton promised to reimburse for my fans and be the point of contact but have not heard from him since and no one seems to be able to locate him. My advice to anyone is to not waste your money on this warranty. They only take care of the little jobs. No one cares if this is impacting my family medically. No consistency or truth to their stories. All you get is, I know how you feel. Stay away if you are wise. I have reach out to the American Arbitration Association for assistance with resolving my issue. I will be canceling my service and make sure others are aware of the business practice of AHS.

    Horrible experience with American Home Shield on all warranty work. 2019-Refrigerator still freezes up after 2 service charges of $75.00, 4 service visits - repair companies ordered and replaced same part twice because they had No documentation? Central A/C reported 7/16/19 - assigned contractor: Quantum Mechanic has not repaired as of 8/28/19. We have spent hours on the telephone-no follow-up.

    We've used AHS to repair our dishwasher and ice maker. In both cases they referred our request within one day and the repair shops they provided were timely and knowledgeable. AHS also provides texts to inform you of the company that will visit your home as well as another text with real time information about the repair person's arrival time and where they are on the road (similar to what Uber and Lyft provide). We had our ice maker repaired today and the repairman was timely, professional and solved our problem. We highly recommend AHS for your home warranty needs.

Told me every time I wash I should unplug it..Really...then he said it's only guaranteed for three months after taking six and a half weeks to repair a 10 year old machine..Will not keep them and will let family and friends know this company in Chicago is a sham...

Sears repairman got angry because I complained that how many times will you try to fix it when it over 10 yrs old. He stormed out and told them I refused service. Now being told AHS will not replace item... So I can cancel my policy if I chose to. They don't really care. I am appalled at their customer service. After paying insurance for 10, 11 yrs I do think they should stand by their policy.

    We had an appointment set for our dryer and my wife took a day off of work. We dealt with Sears and they were terrible. They were supposed to be at the house between 7:00 and 4:00 pm, and she never got a phone call. At 3:30 my wife reached out to Sears and they said they’d be running a bit late and would be between 5:00 and 5:30. She contacted them at 5:00 and they said that they couldn’t make it out to the house.

    We wasted the entire day and we had to cancel a dinner that we had planned for. It was awful. I called American Home Shield and they were very receptive to it. The rep I spoke with was very helpful. They set me up with another company and that company came out. It was a couple of days later, and they had a much better schedule, 9:00 to noon, to get everything taken care of. The rep who came out went over everything, got to the bottom of what was wrong and did a fantastic job. He fixed the problem and it was a very timely repair. Everything was done to our satisfaction.

    LUX Air Engineering is not fixing the root of the problem. They just put a band-aid on it. They said that the AC unit is clearly undersized for the property and there is no possible way for it to cool the home or heat the home in any kind of efficient way. And so, it has been like that, and it is going to continue until they up the size of the unit. You set it at 75 degrees and the house will get to 78 to 80 degrees, and the AC runs all day. They’re not even authorized to change the unit out altogether. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do to make the unit run properly other than it is a 4-ton unit, the SEER rating is older, and it needs to be a 5-ton unit to cool the size of the home. I’m sure I’ll be calling American Home Shield again soon once we change seasons, and the unit will have to get fixed again.

I have a lot of friends that I've sent to them who have signed up. I've never had a bad experience with them, and I will never not have them.

    At nighttime, my air conditioning would kick on, and would run for two minutes and then turn off. And then, it would immediately turn back on again, so I called American Home Shield. It took Total Air Care quite a while to get here. They were supposed to be here between 10:00 and 2:00, and the guy called me at 2 o’ clock saying, “I’m not gonna make it there until about 3:30.” And then, he called at 3:30 and said, “I won’t be here until 4:30.” And I said that I had an appointment and that I was leaving at 4:45.

    So, I rescheduled for a couple days later, and the whole thing started all over again. The company called me and we set it up for between 8:00 and noon. Then the gal called me back and asked if we can have somebody come later in the day. I said, “No. This is the second time. I would rather keep the 8:00 to noon.” And she put me on hold for about three minutes and came back saying, “Okay, we’ll get somebody there between 8:00 and noon.” That took almost two weeks. I also tried calling companies in the area and they said that they don't honor American Home Shield. Nevertheless, when the guy got here close to noon to fix it, he said there was a condenser on top and that the connections were all corroded and rusted. It was breaking down and it was not making good connection. So, he replaced that, and I don't have any problems now with it.

    I had an issue with the door sensor on my washer and submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield one Friday morning. Their contractor called me back on Monday and came out Tuesday. The tech who arrived was very nice. He had the part needed in his van and took care of the issue that same day. The door sensor has been working since the repair. I've had good luck so far with AHS.

    The initial claim for my dishwasher was online, but whenever it repeatedly wasn't fixed, I called American Home Shield. When the contractor came, he replaced one part and it didn't fix the issue. Then he replaced another part, and it still didn't fix the issue. The third time he came, they finally submitted it for replacement. It was about a full week before I got contacted with my replacement option, and it was a total of 10 days before I had my new dishwasher. I went with the one that American Home Shield selected, and they covered the entire replacement.

    I always have trouble doing my claims online. So I do it over the phone and the representative was great. I had a refrigeration issue and I had to have a recall on it. The contractor of AHS came back and he satisfied everything. Everything’s working beautifully. He was very professional, very courteous and American Home Shield handled it greatly. I am grateful for American Home Shield. It gives me some confidence. The warranty is just what I need. They’re always there.

    I call American Home Shield when I have an issue and they’ve always been very helpful. The contractors have always been professional as well. I called AHS on a Friday and they came on a Monday. Our faucet was leaking from the base, and they replaced the faucet. It has been perfect ever since.
