My garage door was acting up. In the summer, it would bounce and in the winter when I hit it, it would go all the way down and then start going back up by itself. The technicians American Home Shield sent from Garage Doors & More were very professional. They replaced the motor and track and did some minor adjustments to the door. My was too heavy and it wasn't being supported by the spring enough. Having them was a really pleasurable experience. I called this claim in on a Friday and by Monday morning Garage Doors & More was at my place and got the job done in no time at all.
Thanks for your feedback. We love to hear when we have provided fast and provided fast and professional service. And we are always here if you need us.

The repair tech was really good. He showed me issues that he had identified. He even took a picture and showed me a snapshot of the picture where the circuit board had gone bad. The first day he came, he said that he was gonna go get the part. It was \on a Friday and he would be back the following Monday. He was back the following Monday and fixed it.
There were a couple of experiences that I had with American Home Shield. This particular technician was very knowledgeable. He took the time to show me what happened and why it happened, and what needed to be done. I did have a service call for my AC and there was a technician that came out. I got a second opinion because it seemed like he was was just trying to build stuff. He said it wouldn't be covered under the Home Shield warranty and that's what made me get a second opinion. Come to find out, he just left the air conditioner unplugged. That was the only bad experience I've had with a service call. I was able to just go upstairs and plug the unit back up then the air conditioner came on.

American Home Shield has been very good on anything I've called on. If it doesn't apply, they'll tell me. When we moved, I had them redo the locks on the door. Then with my recent claim, I have a built-in dishwasher and it was broken, so it would just fall out. They sent Optimum Appliance. I have Viking appliances and they said with those, it either works or it doesn't. They were pretty simplistic and knowledgeable. My oven didn't work for a little while, and the guy came out and fixed that. AHS is always very responsive. When they say that you're going to get a callback, you get a callback. I've never had any problems with them in the small things that I've used them for. I would absolutely recommend them.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and thanks for recommending us. Enjoy your day.

I had a claim to American Home Shield on our icemaker in the refrigerator, and it turned out the tech needed to just replace it. It wasn't fixable. Then the tech took a look at our dryer vent and gave some advice on that. It wasn't something he could fix or replace. We need to do a structural fix. Whoever built this house put the vent in that isn't big enough. So, we need to get that widened. But the tech from AHS was great. We've had him a couple of times come out for different issues. We also had a claim on the dishwasher, and the same guy came as well. He was very helpful then, too. He is very nice and knowledgeable.

I was very satisfied with the service. It wasn't perfect but it was good. The request somehow got lost between American Home Shield and Sub Zero so it took a little while. It probably was 10 days. Finally, I called them because I didn't hear from Sub Zero. Apparently, they had some of their request things kind of lost over there. Sub Zero responded right away, though, once I called them. The guy was awesome. He went right to the problem. The capacitor completely blew out and he showed it to me. He got the AC unit fixed within probably an hour. It was outstanding. I'd been with American Home Shield before and they didn't have a very good thing. I came back because I got an older house. It's 16, 17 years old and things are not gonna last because like us, things start to break down. So far, everything's been really good.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I had a leaky pipe coming in from the main water source. I submitted the claim on the website then somebody called me to schedule an appointment and let me know what time range. It went well. Home Shield then sent somebody out, he went through what he was doing with me, and he was in and out quickly. I felt very good because I was concerned when I saw where the leak was coming from. But then the tech told me he did pretty much the same thing on the last job he was on. He said it was fairly easy. He had all the materials with him to do it right there. And then, he walked me through what he was doing, we made sure that the pressure matched what it was before he turned the water off. And he showed me, “This is the new piece that's in and this is kinda what to expect.” Everything has been working very well.

My wife put the request in with American Home Shield for four items. When the contractor came, he said, "What's to be done?" I said, "I think it's this, this and this." I did not tell him about the toilet. So he got done. Two of them were very simple. Fixed the water heater then he left. I called back. The rep was like, "Why didn't you get the toilet fixed?" I said, "I didn't know it was on there." They said, "I see it here on the work order. He should have asked." I said "Yeah. He's a real nice guy. I don't want to give him any trouble."
So he came out and did the toilet. But then I had a leak, dripping from where the turn off valve is. Another guy came out. He put a bucket underneath it and he said, "I'm not qualified to do this repair. They need somebody more experienced than me." I said, "That's fine." I emptied the bucket a couple of times overnight. The other guy came out, fixed it and put the new valve on. But then I still had a drip from where he connected it on the toilet. I called him back. He said, "It wasn't seated properly." He fixed it really fast. He said, "Leave the towel here. Double-check it." I said I would and it's not leaking anymore.
The toilet repair took four trips because he fixed one thing and then it was something else and then he fixed that. Then it was dripping. But as crazy as it was, I thought they're one of AHS's better vendors. They were very nice and very accommodating. When I called, they were, "We'll be right out. Do you need this now?" I was like, "I think it'll last till tomorrow." They did good work. It's just that one thing kept leaking. I've had the pool guys three times. They've been great. I had another plumbing repair and the company ended up getting rid of the guy. They said, "We've had problems with him." The other guys came out and they were great.
But all in all, American Home Shield has been good, except for when I had one problem and it took four months to resolve on my oven and it wasn't my fault. It was very difficult to explain to the individuals. They were like, "We're so sorry." They had the same kind of, "Oh, we're so sorry, but it's gonna be okay." I was like, it's not okay because you're rejecting the repair.
What had happened was they pulled out the oven and they set the computer board to be repaired. The first vendor came out said, "We don't do this work." The next one came out, took it out. I said, "You can leave it." He said, "The wires are exposed." I said, "That's fine. I'm not gonna mess with it." The pool guy came and the first thing he did was went to the breaker box and saw a breaker off and he turned the breaker on. He was outside and I smelled smoke. The oven was smoking because of the exposed wires. AHS said, "It's not our fault." I said, "What do you mean it is not your fault? It was your vendor that came for the pool."
After months of back and forth phone calls, I got the oven. AHS gave me $700 credit on the oven, which they were willing to do at the beginning. I said, "No. Go ahead and repair it." They couldn't get it repaired once the guy burned up the wires. That was a debacle and at that point, I thought I hope I never have to use them again. But since then, things have been very good with AHS.

I called in today and it took quite a while so I hung up and then I called back afterward. I gave my number and it took a while for American Home Shield to call back. Other than that, it isn't bad. We had a hot water heater issue and the contractor, Express Plumbing, that they sent out replaced it.

I had a plumbing issue and I had contact with the contractor and he resolved the issue. My plumbing issue was in the toilet which then affected my kitchen. So, I had to clear that one before I could do the other. Then, if the contractor has completed it and it came up again, I had to wait until that one was done and then add the kitchen. I still gotta do that. You shouldn’t have to submit another call if it's almost the same issue. I also had an air conditioning issue and that was taken care of. The contractor did well. I've been with American Home Shield for quite some time already so I'm happy with them. Even when I had to stay out-of-town, it was easier to access. Somebody took care of my home and something broke. AHS was able to deal with the person that was in the home, which is good.

The sump pump in our basement went out so we couldn't flush the toilet. We couldn't use the bathroom at all. We called American Home Shield and it was a nightmare as far as trying to get somebody out here. My husband called it in and when he called back, they said that the claim had been closed. He said it hasn't been closed so they had to reopen another one. That was on a Thursday morning and we had to wait until Friday night for a guy to come out. Sump pumps were not his specialty and he said he couldn’t fix it and we needed a part. He needed to call the warranty company. They came back a week later to replace it. So, we were a whole week without a bathroom. Our contractor was working on our other bathroom and he put in a toilet so at least we could go to the bathroom. I had to go to my mother’s to shower. We didn't have anything because it decided to go out at the same time that we were having our other bathroom renovated.
The repair got done and overall, it was fine. It’s just the frustration of having to wait was not fun. It was the holiday weekend so we got screwed that way too because nobody would come out on a weekend. Then, they had to wait to get approval from the warranty company to replace the whole part. It seemed like it took a lot longer than it should have just because we didn't have access to a bathroom. It was a lot of phone calls and back and forth between the plumbing company and the warranty company.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I called up and it goes just like Home Shield said it would - pay your 75 bucks, then they would send somebody out. You call Home Shield up or you go to their website and you tell them what you need done and then they take care of it. And they do all the back work. The biggest issue was me because my schedule kept changing and I had to keep trying to push them back so I could be there when the AC guy was there. So, I was the more difficult thing out of all that than any of the service.
The bearings on the outside fan on the AC unit went bad and it started to knock and had a very loud metal-on-metal sound. And then, there was another component that the tech found that had gone out, a transistor, and it was handled very well. The guy was very good and very personable, and professional. He dressed professionally, and a professional truck. The home warranty takes care of what I need to take care of. So, I don't have to worry about anything with my house, because the whole thing is warrantied. So, if anything goes wrong, I just call Home Shield up and take care of it. I don't worry.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

American Home Shield always done a great job. Thanks a lot to their great customer service. They not only meet the customer's expectations, but actually exceed them. Leak Seekers Plumbing did good. They were very prompt and professional. The flushing mechanism on the toilet was not working. I was having to take the lid off the toilet and manually flush the toilet from the inside and they replaced that. They fixed it and we were very happy with them. We had had a previous call with that same toilet a few weeks prior and Rapp's Heating, Air & Plumbing came. There was a clog in the toilet. The flushing mechanism was working but nothing was moving. It took them a very long time to get there and then when they came, the plumber said it was working. I called back because my mom is there all the time and I had asked for a 30-minute heads up so that my husband could get home and they did not do that.
I called them back and said that I would like to talk with the plumber. He was telling my mother that there was nothing wrong. We have a toilet that hasn't been flushing for a week. They said that they would have him call me and he never did. So, I was less than impressed with them. That was more of a local issue with the particular plumber or HVAC service that American Home Shield sent someone from but we've been we've been very pleased with them. I have recommended them to multiple people. We’ve had them since we bought the house, which has been about five years. If you try to reach someone on the telephone to submit a claim, it has been a little difficult but if you do it online, they have been very responsive that way.

I've had some good contractors and I've had some bad contractors. They've all shown up clean, presentable, and in a timely manner. They all have texted or called me before they showed up, but I have had some bad experiences with the techs not knowing their business. I put feedback on the ones that have done a good job and I've done feedback on the ones that haven't to American Home Shield. I say, "Hey, I don't want these contractors or this company coming out again because they've done a bad job." I've also said, "Hey, these contractors, they know their stuff. They're on top of it. I want to use them from now on."
Requesting the service couldn't be easier. It's all online. The contractors will then reach out to me and we'll be able to do an appointment quickly, but getting ahold of American Home Shield itself and any follow-up or follow through has been hard lately. I'm sure that's because of COVID and the different things that are happening. My most recent claim has been with my refrigerator. I called in on the 11th and I wasn't able to get somebody to come out until the 21st. They took a look at the refrigerator, saw that the compressor was out, and that's the last I've heard of it.
American Home Shield put it as completed and I've been in the process of trying to get ahold of American Home Shield to figure out what's happening, so my latest one hasn't been that great. All the other times that I've had the people come out though, they've done well. When I'm having an appliance fixed, they come out, and they fix it. They're in and out. If parts have to be ordered, then it takes a little bit of time. I've got a dishwasher that I'm waiting to get parts for right now, but once the parts come in, then they're quick to come out and fix the issue. Overall, it's been a good experience.

Mandolin was my assigned contractor for a claim. They do HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. They came out for my water pressure. I had another plumber come out before and got underneath the house. I was told that I didn't have a pressure thing underneath my house. Mandolin, on the other hand, took the time to find everything. They came back twice and there were no complaints. They're very friendly and professional. These are the kind of people you want to be your friend because you sit and talk to them.
I have a service dog that's a German Shepherd and he's really weird about people. But he loved the one guy to death. I thought he wanted to go home with him. To me, that means a lot because my dog is really good at telling who people are. For him to have that much interest in somebody tells me they're a really good person. Madolin HVAC fixed everything. I have a filter underneath my house that I didn't know I had. They changed that and gave me extra ones and said, "If you have a problem, you call us and we'll come out and we'll change it." My unit works great.
The only thing with American Home Shield was I wasn't expecting to be charged. They charge me 70 bucks a month and I have had the home warranty for years and never ever used it. But the first time I did, it cost me 120 bucks to have the plumbers to come out. That kinda threw me off because when I first joined, they never said anything about it. I was told to call and somebody would come right out, which I thought was cool. American Home Shield might wanna tell people up front that it's gonna cost money. Other than that, it was great. It was a very pleasant experience.

The claim submission with American Home Shield online is a no-brainer. But if you wanna get some clarification, then it becomes a little bit more difficult. Usually the hold time is just a couple of minutes and then they ask you for your phone number and they'll call you back. Of the few times I used it, I got a call back all but once. The one time I didn't get a call back, they told me it was an hour and 20 minutes or so wait. So, they must have really been backed up. With regards to the replacement of a piece of equipment, I was on hold for an hour and a half until I got picked up by the department that would provide the replacement equipment, which was really not very pleasurable. They don’t have the same on customer service ability on that line. But in general, what American. Home Shield has done for me far exceeds my expectations.
The tech from A & S Mechanical has been in the house a couple of times. He's pleasant and timely. I’ve been pleased with him so far. He represents the company well. We've had two incidents where we've waited 21 business days before we had known whether it was gonna be repaired or it was gonna be replaced. So they came and repair the refrigerator. Then another technician had to order two other parts. I was not happy with that particular service‘cause I was told by somebody that after 21 days, if the contractor couldn't find a part, then they would take over and look for the part. But the company told them two weeks before that the part was not available.
I was told by AHS that I would just have to wait and it could be weeks. I was so annoyed, I called up about midnight and I got somebody from the US call center and she was extremely helpful. When you speak to a domestic customer service person it's 1,000 times better than when you’re speaking to their offshore ones. The offshore is only reading from a script.
The next morning, AHS called up and said that. they were gonna replace it. So from a financial standpoint, I am not unhappy. I understand that there's COVID out there, which is an automatic excuse for everybody, so I accept that. I accept the 21 days they have to go find all the pieces of things. But then if it was not gonna be fixed, then they should do what they were supposed to do. Other than that, I would recommend it to a friend with a caveat that there's a timeframe for them to replace something.

I sent in the claim and the only issue was that the contractor didn't show up the day that we expected them to, which based on the summertime in Texas, it's not unusual for them to have to go out one day. So that was really not a big deal, but we did go one day without cooling. But when the tech got here, it was in five minutes that he realized it was the condenser. He had the part on the truck, he fixed it, and left. So it was excellent.
We had one issue where we had a plumbing issue that the hot water heater had gone out. We ended up having to take care of that ourselves because the plumbing company that had come out didn't fix it then. We were without hot water for almost two weeks. So we ended up having it done through someone else. They came out and did it the next day, where the company that AHS had kept telling us that they were having to order a part. But that didn't keep us from re-upping for the year. Submitting a claim to Home Shield is pretty simple. But I wish that they would give you a little more opportunity to explain what you are seeing. But it's just kind of check the radio box for the type of problem that you think it is, and then they assign somebody to the claim.

I filed a claim for the furnace then I followed up with a leak. Whoever spoke to me at the time told me how it worked and the individuals that I spoke with responded appropriately. Their appearance was good when they came to the door. They were reasonable. They had the appropriate level of pleasantness and they maintained the right boundaries. They were great. The plumber told me that he could see what the problem was and that he was gonna try to fix it at the level that it was. He could see where the water was coming. He repaired that, and so far, we've been okay. He did say if it comes back, the next step would be to go through the bedroom. So far, American Home Shield has been good. The response was timely. I also had a good experience before I signed up. I had worked with a lady and she saw me coming out of Walmart one day. I was talking about a problem that I was having with my furnace. She told me get hooked up with American Home Shield and I did.

I made a call on September 6 for the oven. The technician was here. He said that there was something wrong with the control board, which needed to be replaced. Then he said it was no longer available so he was not able to fix it. American Home Shield offered me $300 for the control board. How could I fix it if they were not able to do so or find the control board? When I bought this policy, they promised me that if something went wrong, they would either fix it or replace it. The cheapest one from Home Depot cost 1300 and they only offered me $300 for the board. This has never been resolved.
I also made a claim for the furnace. A raccoon went inside the basement causing damages on the ducting system. American Home Shield didn't have a contractor in the city so they wanted me to find my own. I found one. I spent every day about 40 minutes to an hour to call them back and forth. Then I found a local one. They came and charged me 139. Finally, American Home Shield said they would not cover the repairs. I paid $100 and got nothing. It's not fair. I want that reimbursement from them. They put me on hold for 50 minutes, an hour, two hours. Then recently I had a plumbing issue. Jamie Parrish Plumbing came out and it took them a long time, but they fixed it. Overall, I'm really not happy with American Home Shield. We're not going to renew the service.

There was no way he could do that because my oven was old already. I'm waiting for a second person to come again. It took a while because the second company Home Shield recommended never called me back and I contacted them three times. Now, Home Shield is sending me another company and they're gonna be coming this Thursday. This is my second claim. I had my first claim last year and that one was excellent. We had a great run with AHS for many years, even referring others to them for their own home warranties. Unfortunately, this ended 3 weeks ago (9/2020). We had a service call for our dishwasher. A tech was sent who evaluated the repair and ordered the parts. He returned a couple of weeks later with the parts and completed the service repair without one part that was still back ordered. Before leaving, the tech told my husband that we should request a repairman trained in repairing General Electric products. We ran the dishwasher and the leak was worse than what we started with. My husband spoke to a representative regarding the issue and she stated that all tech are trained on all products. This is not true according to the tech that we had. My husband then said we should not be required to pay for a service call that was unsuccessful, and she disconnected the call. We have moved on to a service we have confidence in. I advise that you do the same.

They are useless and hopeless customer service. Takes at least 1-hour to reach agent, call center is in Philippines, hard to communicate. They rarely transfer to US call center. Because of this experience, most of their vendors are inefficient (or looking for new business). Vendors come and fix partially, then AHS authorize only to fix temporarily (not to replace anything). Problem keeps repeating, they make money on contract fee and service fee, it's vicious circle. Over the period of time their service degraded so much, stay away from this company at any cost, deserves -negative stars.

My refrigerator was getting hot and it was making a loud noise. I called American Home Shield and they referred me to a repair service place. I then read the reviews for the service place, and they were bad. I called to see if I could get another repair place, and they told me no. I cancelled it, but then I decided that I didn't have another option, so I called American Home Shield back and they put the call order again. The repair place then came and they diagnosed the problem. The guy said I needed a new fan and unfortunately, because it was an older refrigerator, he had to order another part. He called me when it was in. He then came, put it in, and everything has been fine.
It was very hot during the time I was gonna have to wait for the fan, so the guy offered a suggestion. In the meantime, he put one of my home fans in the back of the refrigerator so that it would cool off the compressor. It kept the refrigerator running so that my food didn’t get ruined. That was very cool, so I gave him a good review. It was funny because the guy who came was the guy that most of the bad reviews were about. The people that had a bad experience, he said that, usually, if the warranty company doesn’t cover something, they get very hostile. All in all, I have had two experiences and they were both positive. One was years ago when I first bought my condo and this was the other one.

I've had Home Shield on my actual house I live in for 15 to 20 years. And then, I just had it on them home I rent to people since April. I knew to put it on there because I've had it on my own residence for so long. A lot of people like to speak to someone actual on the phone. But to me, it's better going to the app and doing it yourself. I called because I have a tenant in my home in Virginia and they had some leaks in the bathroom, toilet, and sink. Blue Ridge Mountain Plumbing came right in. They were running a bit behind but they let me know they were. When they got there, they stayed until the job was done, and I didn't get anything but positive results. The response I got from the tenant was they did an excellent job. Everything ran smoothly.

We moved here to Las Vegas eight years ago from California and we were able to hook up with a Realtor, who had been recommended by some friends that we have here. She has done nothing but serve us well both in terms of finding our rental home when we first moved here and then she worked with us to find the home that we purchased. I called her and I said that we were thinking about a home warranty coverage. Without hesitation, she recommended American Home Shield. Interestingly, we have a rental in California and we talked with our property manager there and he doesn't recommend American Home Shield in California so we went with a different carrier there. But here, we're quite happy.
We did a little bit of research and everybody has their different star ratings. I am savvy enough to understand that when people don't get their way, they're gonna give poor ratings because they wanna have their way. We pay for the service with American Home Shield and this is the first time we've had to use it. It was seamless and it went exceptionally well. The service tech was excellent and he answered all my questions. Also, he was here in a timely fashion. It couldn’t be any better. I have nothing but compliments for both AHS and Accent Air. I filed a claim probably two months earlier. Our refrigerator was doing a weird sound and it stopped making the noise that it was making over the weekend. I called a day or two before the service call was scheduled to take place and I had no problem canceling that and getting the refund. AHS could lower the service charge though.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

American Home Shield is super easy to use. Normally, they provide fast service. I had one experience last summer when my air conditioning went out and they couldn't find anybody. But it was the middle of summer so I get it. It was nothing against them. They are always finding somebody for me to fix whatever I need. Recently, I called in to have 2 repairmen, one to repair a faucet and one to look at a couple kitchen appliances. I had a really good experience with the faucet company. American Home Shield has sent them before for the plumbing and they did amazing. They always have. They're always super nice, super polite and on time. They always called. I've not had a bad experience with them.
The kitchen appliances one was kind of a jerk. I wanted him to look at my fridge, the lights underneath my microwave, and the heating element in my stove. He did give me a name of a company where I could purchase the part for my fridge and my microwave 'cause he said it wasn't covered. He did run a test but he pretty much kinda made fun of me a little bit. He didn't think there was a problem.

I have two policies, one for my personal residence, and then another one for a rental property, a townhouse that I own. There are two air conditioning units at the townhouse that are covered by the home warranty and both of those units were experiencing coils in the air conditioning unit that dripped water onto the air filter. It was causing damage to the air filter and moisture in the air. I called American Home Shield and then they set up Myers Comfort Specialist of Birmingham to find out what the problem was. Myers called me and said, “Okay, here's when we're gonna come out.” They came out, serviced the units and everything went fine.
My daughter lives in that townhouse and there are a couple other people living there with her at a college town. As I understand, everything is functioning fine right now. This is the first time that I've used American Home Shield, and so far, that has been a fine experience. I've had my policy on my home for nearly two years, and I haven't had to use that. I had to switch to American Home Shield from Fidelity. When I switched to them, my first experience was not good. The people, whoever they have come out, took so long. They were trying to schedule you next week or the week after or telling you they ain't got any appointments. Then, when you call back to get a different contractor, they try to play you and be like, “Oh, well, that’s all we have.” I call it being lazy. So you don't wanna call around to find another vendor. It’s their job, to find me somebody that's available this week. They don’t like to do that.
I just called on Saturday to place a claim because my dryer is out. However, the appliance place that they referred to, called me just now and was like, “We have an opening next Wednesday.” I was like, “No, I'm not waiting a week and a half to receive service. I take care of my mother who is disabled and she soiled her clothing.” I have to call American Shield. I have to have them give me another appliance place that can come out this week, ‘cause I can't leave soiled clothing that long.

We were not getting any cool air from our AC, so I put in the claim through the website of AHS. I was really pleasantly surprised that, immediately, it said who the vendor was and I didn’t know it would do that. Smart Heating & Cooling showed up with a phone number, so I called them right away and left a message. I called them on a Saturday and they called me on a Monday. They came out, fixed it, and we had no problem. We had some additional work done that was not covered under the warranty as we needed cleaning and that worked out pretty good, too.
Dealing with AHS is fine as long as you don't have to talk to anybody and you can do it all online. But if you have to call, it's terrible and you have to wait almost an hour and a half to two hours to get somebody to answer. On our first claim on the refrigerator that went out, we filed it in July and we just got a new refrigerator this week. It was awful and very frustrating because it took so long to get it replaced. It was also the calling, being on the phone, and trying to get somebody to help me. I had to go to my real estate agent and say that I didn't know what was going on. I told him that I would never buy AHS again and that I didn't even know how it could be recommended. So he got on the horn and got a lot of people involved. And finally, we got it resolved.
Still, I had to go to that level for that claim. But it wasn't necessarily all American Home Shield. The vendor here locally, Affordable Appliances, was horrible and not able to fix the device, but they were not telling them that they couldn't fix it. They were saying it was something else and that was what delayed the process. So, I'm hoping that Affordable Appliances will never be recommended again for American Home Shield because they were not professional. They also didn't show up on time and were two hours late. Then, they said the problem was one thing, when it was another. And then, they said it was the same thing that I thought it was. So, I am super happy that we got a brand new refrigerator, but we had three months of going back and forth to the garage. AHS could have handled that claim better and it could have gone a little more seamless.

Everything was good with Prime Plumbing. They were on time and they were very professional when they came. I was doing some cleaning, and I wasn't paying attention and flushed a washcloth down the toilet. I had a bit of a backup. I also had a leak in the upstairs bathroom, so they came out and took care of those problems. Most importantly, I like the way that the guys that came out spoke to me about the problem first and explained to me about the process of what they were gonna do.
I recently purchased a home, so I was informed that I had a home warranty, and I printed out my contract. However, when I had the issue, I called a plumber. The guy asked me for my email, and then all of a sudden, he sent me a bill without even diagnosing a problem. I said, "You never even came here to see what the issue was. How could you send me a invoice?"
My older brother was like, "Listen, don't you have a home warranty situation going on?" I said yes, but I never sat down and read it. He was like, "Well, take a seat, put your glasses on and read it and see what it covers." After I did that, I gave American Home Shield a call and everything went from there. That was the first time that I ever used it, but I might use them again in a few days 'cause I need a rekey done at the property. I'll have them come out again.

My very first call, they gave me a window from 12:00 to 5:00 for my dryer. I waited from 12:00 to 5:00, and at 5:10, I left. I had no phone call. I tried to call them and they didn't pick up, so I left.
As I was driving to wherever I was going and they called my cell at six o'clock and they were on their way. But I wasn't gonna wait until six o'clock or 6:30 when they gave me a window from 12:00 to 5:00. That, to me, was not professional. So I called American Home Shield back and complained. Central Jersey Heating And Cooling recently came in and fixed the heat. The tech has been to my house before and he was great. He knows the property and he knows the system so he fixed it very quickly. The claims submission process with AHS is great. It's when I have to call them that's an issue. I had a wall unit that had to be replaced and no one contacted me about it, whether that be AHS or the contractor. I had to call and follow up. That was back in August and I still have not seen that AC unit. Then, they said it's supposed to come in on Thursday. Also, a second issue came with a stove that I had. The vendor didn't fix my appliance even though I put the type of appliance in so I had to call because I didn't wanna be charged again for somebody who they thought they had sent out.
It was a minimum 20-minute wait just to be able to speak to somebody, every single time that I've called. When it works, it's great but when it doesn't, it's really bad. Fortunately, the problem that I have for the stove is one that I can sort of live with. But I don't know how dangerous it is and they're not following up. I wish following up is with the same ease that you can submit a claim. It's something that I feel like everybody needs to have, I just wish it was easier to use.

CD’s Appliances came out and looked at the microwave. The tech turned it on and he knew exactly what it was. He then needed to order a part. He did that and when the part came in, he came back and he fixed the microwave within 45 minutes. That is working perfectly. The tech also had his mask on. In fact, I apologized for not having mine on when I answered the door. CD’s Appliances was great. They were very nice and thorough. They didn't leave me in the dark. It was perfect. But I have two things that I'm not happy about.
I had called and paid $125 to have someone come out and look at the microwave prior to that because the fan wasn't working. The gentleman that came stuck a piece of paper under the fan and said it was sucking air so it was working. But I said it was not working. When you put it on high, it had a very low suction. You could tell the difference between when it was working on high because it was so loud when it stopped working. Basically, that was a waste of $125. A couple of months later, the magnetron went out on the microwave. Another company came back and fixed it. I was a little annoyed that I had already paid $125 to tell them that the fan and the microwave are one unit. The tech didn't even do anything.
And there was the second unhappy incident that really got me. My AC wasn't working. It kept running and it wouldn't shut off. An AC company came out from Home Shield and their tech told me that they had to take the unit with them. I live in Florida. I said, “Are you kidding me? You're gonna take my AC unit with you? What am I supposed to do for four days? You say two to three days, but we all know it's gonna be four or five, maybe seven days.” I have two dogs and I work from home. I can't stay in this house without AC. Now, I've gotta pay for a hotel. I've lived in Florida for 15 years and I've never had this experience in my life. When you call an AC company, they come out and they fix it.
The tech said it was because they don't make a lot of money on these contracts. They were gonna take it out and bring it to the shop. But that really was not my problem. They made the contract arrangements with Home Shield and not me. I told the tech that I own this homeowner’s warranty and pay for it every month. But because of that, I was gonna get a lesser service than I would if I called another company to come out and fix it. By the time I rented a hotel and paid for boarding for my dogs at the vet because not a lot of hotels take dogs, I might as well pay to have the AC fixed myself. That was exactly what I ended up doing. It didn't make sense to me.
I was not happy about that either. That cost me another $125 for the visit. I tried reaching out to American Home Shield about that but could never get anybody on the phone. I call and it goes into an automated system. My contract is going to be up next month. I just threw up my hands and said to forget it. I would never pay for that service again. One of the main reasons I bought this warranty plan was because of the air conditioning unit. In August, you feel like the temperature is 102 outside and it's 95 on the thermometer.
Hi Kimberly,

I've been with American Home Shield for at least maybe a couple of years, maybe even longer, and it has been great. But the claims submission is difficult because you have to go through all these prompts and it's not easy to get ahold of somebody now. Other than that, AHS has saved me more than I can ever imagine on some of my appliances breaking down, especially my central air and heating. The parts that they had to replace already on that would've cost me astronomical. I recommend them to other people and a friend of mine is already on board.

My dryer all of a sudden started screeching very loudly anytime we had it on. My daughter's bedroom is right next to the laundry room, so that was not good and we had to try to be creative about how we did laundry. I talked to the rep about it over the phone and I started to describe it. And right away, he said that he was 99% sure that based on the model and on what I was telling him, he knew what was wrong with it. Then, he came out and fixed it in about 20 minutes. It was awesome and now, the dryer is silent again. I'm super happy with my experience with AHS. Other than that, their internet interface was super easy to use and I have recommended them to my brother for his family because they were looking for a similar service. I also like having the peace of mind knowing that if something like that goes wrong, I don't have to go shopping for a new appliance necessarily and I can try this first.

After making a claim for my pool, it initially took a couple of days for the contractor, Pure Pool Service, to come out and I wasn't satisfied with the timeframe. There were also a couple of issues with the placement of the filters. It got a little complicated. They said something about a water damage. American Home Shield did not cover it. Pure Pool Service could not do some of the stuff and we paid an additional fee for them to replace the pump. It dragged a little bit. After that, it took a while for them to get back to me to tell me how to turn on the pump. Other than that, it was fine.
American Home Shield is okay. But there were some things that I expected to be covered that were not. Also, they renewed my contract and failed to renew the same number of things that were covered. Initially, they did not cover my pool which was a mistake on their part. They went back sometime later after we complained and checked and realized that they had renewed a lesser number of things that were covered. They corrected that and finally sent someone for the pool. They resolved the issue but it took some time.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

We've been Home Shield customers since 2006 and submitting the claim is very easy. The tech that came out for our air conditioner was sharp. He knows what he's doing. He figured out that the problem was a blower motor, which is not a common air conditioner repair. It's been running like a champ since the repair. We have three air conditioners in our home and they're in good shape because of American Home Shield. It's a great program. When something goes wrong, they fix it. Also, American Home Shield covered us with our pool. We recommend it to anybody. American Home Shield is reliable, accessible and dependable.

The AC was not cooling properly and Total Air Care came out and added Freon. After they left, I realized that the something was running continually in the system. So I called them back and they came right back and looked at it. We’re waiting for a part to come in to get it repaired. They've been wonderful and amazing to deal with. My air situation is somewhat emergent and they're doing the best they can. But if I were dealing with someone else, it might get resolved a little faster. At the same time, I have 100% confidence that once that part comes in, the rep from Total Air will call me and he'll be back out here as quickly as he can.
People should not expect things to happen quickly though. There's a little more work than just calling someone directly to get the work done. The process that’s involved in coming out, diagnosing, ordering the part, coming back, getting rescheduled to come in, coming back and getting it repaired is the extra layer of filing the claim. But it's worth it for the protection that I'm getting.

On the initial visit of the technician from Service Plus Repairs, he changed out a part and when he finished, he turned on the dryer for about five minutes. We didn't smell anything. So, we were good. I was nervous using the dryer with the gas smell. So I haven't been using it. When my husband came home and we did the laundry, I could still smell the gas and he said that I have to call the contractor back. So, we did. They came back out today and has just left. He had me run the dryer for 30 minutes while he was coming and when he got here, he said he didn't smell gas outside and in the laundry room. I told him to stop the dryer and open the door. As soon as he did that, the gas hit him in his face. I said that it was the smell that I was smelling.
The technician said the last time he was here that the part that he changed out was the only part that would be a gas issue and with this, it was in the drum. So, if we already repaired and replaced whatever part is controlling the gas, it's got to be something with that. He said that we’re just gonna have to figure this out. There's got to be something else. So he said he was gonna get back with me and that he was gonna go talk to his supervisor to see what else they need to do. I don’t feel like the contractor knew what they were doing.
I'm uncomfortable using this dryer because of the gas smell. The smell is in my clothes so we've been using our neighbor's dryer because I don't want the gas smell on my kids' clothes. When I first smelled the gas, I called the gas company out immediately because I thought it was something with the house. When they came out, they did a very thorough check with everything and they said that it was the dryer itself. It's not anything to do with the plumbing in my house. So, I called American Home Shield to ask if it was possibly the dryer. It was not functioning properly and there was a gas smell. They said that it could be. So they sent out an appliance service person. They thought they fixed it but they did not. At this point, they should be taking it apart to see what's wrong but they didn't.
I had the same problem with the water heater. It was around the same time. The technician had to come back out here twice because it wasn't initially what he thought it was. He had to come back out to fix it the following week. I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield and I haven't had an issue with them. It's just the service people that are coming out. If we could pick our own contractors that we know would do a good job, it would probably go a lot smoother.

I had two plumbing issues. One was taken care of while the other one still hasn't been. But I got a phone call from the plumber who will be here to take care of it, which is not an emergency. It just needs to be taken care of. There was only one issue I had with them. I have a well, and my pump went out inside the well. I know there is a well guy here in town, and I have no water. So, I called him to come fix it, and then I called Home Shield. But they said they wouldn't cover it because I didn't call them first. So, I said, "Well, you guys take too long to get back to me. I needed water. I needed this fixed." They deal with some people out of Redding, California, which is a town 50 miles from me, and they would have probably taken two to three days to get out here. The guy that was local came out immediately. And that's what I tried to explain to them, but they would have nothing of it.
When Home Shield sent out Andy Simmons Plumbing, the tech did a wonderful job. Everything is working fine. He just had to come out one more time to do some snaking and replace some pipe just directly on the outside of my house. It goes into my main drain that goes into my septic, and Home Shield wouldn't cover that because they said it's on the outside of my house. But it's part of my inside of my house, but they said they won't cover it. So, that part has to come out of my pocket. Also, Home Shield takes a bit long to get back to me. For instance, if I waited to call them about my pump system, I know it would take forever for them to get somebody out here. That's why I just did it on my own. But overall, I'm fairly satisfied.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

When I first spoke to the gentleman from Magic Appliance, I told him there were three ceiling fans that needed to be fixed. So he told me to call in and put an order for three ceiling fans. I did that and they came towards evening time, which was fine. They fixed the one ceiling fan in the master bedroom. They gave me a remote. It was the receiver that I had issues with so they took care of that. The other two fans were pull strings. In the girls’ bedrooms, it worked for some reason. But with the third fan, the tech said it needed a remote. If there were missing parts, they would not cover. But I explained to him that the fan is pull strings and it's not a remote control. There's a switch on the wall and then you pull the string. The receiver wasn't working properly. So he fixed two out of three and he said they have to give the report to American Home Shield. That went on but the third fan was not fixed.
I moved to a new place and I wanted to continue services with American Home Shield. I was paying close to $45 a month and the co-pay was 75 bucks. Whoever I spoke to when I called tried to charge me close to $55 or $60 and then the copay was 100. It didn't make sense to me. So I cancelled it. For someone who's been with them for five years and then trying to charge me more and lose a customer, I don't think that was very wise.

I put in a claim with Home Shied for a contractor to look at my refrigerator and my dishwasher. The refrigerator was very hot, which is abnormal, and the dishwasher was not drying. I submitted the claim online on a Saturday and the website was easy to navigate. The only hiccup that we had was me paying for the deductible. My payment was posted online. It's in my account so I don't know where that hiccup came from, but I ended up calling last week to pay for the deductible.
Ashman Appliances called the very next day and they were very nice. The tech had to get a couple of parts but the job was done by Thursday of that same week. Everything seems to be doing fine since they've been out. My dishwasher still doesn't dry completely but it's better than what it was. My other dishwasher was kinda the same way, so it could just be the way that the dishwasher is made.

Within the last four months when we called to verify if something was covered, we were told it wasn't and we found out after the fact that it was. So, that was confusing because the American Home Shield agent didn't seem to understand what we were even asking for. We submitted a request and then someone came out after the fact and fixed it. We almost paid out of pocket to get a whole new whole house fan put in until we were persistent and kept following up with AHS about it. So, that was frustrating
We've also had instances where we have had claims denied. We submitted something for our pool heater a few months back and they said it looked like there could've been some rodents. We opened it up and didn't see any type of rodents there. We got a letter from AHS saying it was denied so that was frustrating because we paid $2,000 out of pocket to get a brand-new heater. So, we've had challenges not so much with scheduling for contractors to come out but getting things covered and with agents' understanding what we're asking for. The latest claim was when the air conditioning stopped cooling but that was a positive experience. The contractor was able to troubleshoot it quickly and get the issue resolved. That was great.

The contractor took the order right away and came out. The guy said that there was a clog in one of the tubes that went into the fridge. It was draining water down the backside of the fridge and it was creating ice underneath the drawers for the produce at the bottom. There were sheets of ice and it would have to be chipped out all the time, like every three days. He said he fixed the clog in the drainage and it should be all set to go. A few days later, it started happening again. We had to call them back and ask them to please come back out. He said he went back out and replaced a part, and it should not be causing any more issues. I have not seen if it has been completely fixed or not. We're giving it a little bit of time. But I will definitely be calling Home Shield back if it isn't resolved.
The one thing that I wasn't happy with is that when I had to call it back in the second time, I said to Home Shield that whatever the guy did didn't fix it 'cause it was back and it was doing the same thing it was doing before. They said, “When we send him back out, we'll decide if we're gonna charge you another service fee, if it's something else.” I said, “If your guy can't predict or tell us what the problem is and is incorrect on that, why am I getting dinged for that?” The issue was the same issue and they didn't come back and get me, but the fact that they said that kind of irritated me because if my refrigerator isn't working correctly and they’re going to send someone out to fix it, I would think it would be diagnosed correctly or it would be on them to fix it correctly.
That's our most recent issue with having to contact American Home Shield. The other issues have been good, except for one, and that was the dishwasher. It wasn't working correctly. We called on it and the contractor came out. They said that it needed to be replaced. I ended up having to replace it and it cost me quite a bit. I not only had to pay their fee but also I had to buy a new dishwasher and they wanted to pay very little for the replacement. There's more to it than just that. There were a lot of phone calls going to American Home Shield. There were long hold times, hours sometimes.
The guy that they sent out to try to repair the dishwasher basically told American Home Shield it was not repairable. It needed to be replaced but they didn't step up to the plate on that one. They have in other instances outside of the dishwasher. They did for our HVAC unit and hot water heater. Those two experiences were great. But the dishwasher was a horrible experience with American Home Shield. Then this most recent one with the refrigerator, they sent out a repair guy but he didn't fix it. We had to call back and American Home Shield tried to charge us again for the exact problem that they didn't fix. I question whether or not their service people that they hire are good people. Some are good, some aren’t. We did some research on the repairman that came out to do the dishwasher and he had all negative reviews. All of the reviews were stating that they were customers through American Home Shield and this is the guy that they contracted to fix dishwashers.

I'm a Realtor and I send Home Shield to my clients. The only thing I don't like is that the basic plan doesn't cover most of the appliances. I always have to request that they do the Shield Plus when I'm asking a seller to pay for a home warranty for my clients because it covers appliances and stuff in the home. Sometimes I get some feedback about that. And then they want to switch to another plan. As a Realtor, it's a little annoying when I have to get somebody else to cover it because they want to pay for the least amount of warranty.
But other than that, submitting claims is really easy, especially when I go online and do it. My icemaker was not making ice and there was low flow coming through the front water line from the front of the refrigerator. Demand Justis Services came and they replaced the icemaker and fixed my water as well. They did it relatively quickly, too. They had to wait for a part, but it came much quicker than I expected.

I had a leak in my ceiling, and so I contacted American Home Shield for a claim. They sent a plumber out to check the issue. The plumber was okay, but the issue was not resolved. The leak was from a tub, so I have water coming into my ceiling, and it's getting bigger. The plumber needed to come out a second time, and they charged me a second deductible for it. Two guys have come out now since the first issue. Both have showed up three hours late to our appointment window. The first guy showed up three hours late to the appointment window and was so rude about it. I asked him to leave my house. Then they had a second guy come out who also showed up three hours late. So, it was 7 o'clock at night, and I had surgery the next day. He told me I needed to move all my furniture if I wanted him to fix the issue.
At 7 o'clock at night, I had to move like bookshelves and desks and he wouldn't touch my furniture. I had to do it myself. I physically was incapable of moving my furniture, and I wasn't about to do this at 7 o'clock at night when I had to be up at 5 o'clock in the morning for surgery the next day. He had to cut a hole in my ceiling. So, I said, "Can we just do this another time?" I had surgery on Thursday. I've been recovering all weekend. I checked my bank account. They charged me for two deductibles now. So, now I have to call them and tell them that I want them to come fix the issue that was never fixed the first time. I'm stressed out about the whole thing and having just had surgery is not fun. So, once they get this issue resolved, I'll probably be cancelling because it doesn't seem valuable at this point.
Another issue is there's a hole in my soffit where a critter could get into my house. And so, it's not my roof. I could use help from a contractor, and I don't know who to call, and American Home Shield doesn't either. They said, "Well, that's not us. It sounds like your roof, and we don't do roofing." I told them it's not my roof. It's on the exterior side of my house. They still said, "Yeah. That's not us."
Then I called for an issue, and they had a drywaller call me. I said, "But it's not drywall." I told them it was like an attic situation and they had a drywaller call me. They were very confused and not very helpful when I call. I don't know that I would continue the service based on these two experiences. I'm very dissatisfied. Originally, filing the claim online was okay, but you should be able to talk to somebody and have a discussion.

I requested service for a water heater repair and the process was seamless. I live in the Houston metropolitan area, which is large, and there was an initial plumber assigned, but they were a group from the northwest side of town. I'm down on the southeast side. To drive along is about an hour and a half, so I preferred somebody that was a little more local. American Home Shield accommodated me nicely on that and I'd worked with them in the past. We were able to get a local provider from American Home Shield, and they turned out to be a spectacular, wonderful bunch of folks. They were very experienced, professional, engaging, and they knew what to do and how to do it. We got everything fixed perfectly well. The water heater is so old and they made it behave like it was new. It's got a few more years left in it, so I'm very pleased. If I need plumbing in the future, I will certainly be utilizing them again.
People need to understand that patience is something you have to exercise when you're having a repair of a major component of your home undertaken by a contractor. Things don't always happen perfectly the first day because sometimes parts don't fit. Sometimes, they have to rectify situations that they weren't aware of initially. On my particular call, we found out that we had to put in a second service request because the isolator valves to the water heater weren't functioning. I happily put in a second service request and they came out and did that as well. That allowed the rest of the procedure to go ahead and continue. So I just ask homeowners to understand that the world is not a perfect place and neither are our homes.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The initial issue was that the AC wasn't keeping up with the demand and it wouldn't keep the house cool. So Myers came out and replaced the evaporator coil on my air conditioner. After that, it lasted about a week and then there was another issue that they didn't check everything that they were supposed to. I called them back and told them it was not working. They told me to call American Home Shield and request a recall on the original work order. After that, they came out and it ended up being a filter-dryer. There was something in the line of the Freon that was clogged. They replaced that free-of-charge. Since yesterday, everything has been working great.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

It's fairly easy to submit a claim to Home Shield. However, it would be nice to have an option to actually talk to a live person once submitting a request or just being able to add some comments, especially when I called in. An automated system asks, “Is it electric or plumbing or something?” “Electric.” “Well, it’s not working.” “Okay, you got scheduled. Somebody will come out at some point.” But some things are more urgent than others, and it would be nice to be able to actually tell them that. But other than that, H & C Electric came out recently, resolved the issue and fixed the things that caused the problem. It was quite easy and we got things fixed quickly.

I've used American Home Shield a couple of times over the years. But I don't think it's set up to be super helpful. It sounds good, but when you have a problem, it doesn't always work well. It has never worked for me the way you think it's going to. We have more than one issue that we wanna get rectified. They were saying we can only submit one claim at a time. It's gonna take another month to submit the next claim. It was also a very time-consuming process to get signed up with American Home Shield. It was challenging. But we're still satisfied. Dan’s Pro-Lock came out recently to rekey and they were good.

Our refrigerator went out on July 2nd and a new one was just delivered last week. At first, American Home Shield sent out somebody who didn't know what he was doing. He put a new compressor in and the compressor failed again. That was what failed the first time. Then that guy refused to come out and look at it. They sent somebody else who said, "You need a new one." But we didn't have a refrigerator from July 2nd and September 17th was when we got a new refrigerator. So all the time, I didn't have a refrigerator.
The first contractor was fine. He just didn't know what he was doing. The second one was fine. He realized the refrigerator couldn't be saved and he let American Home Shield know. But I told them that it couldn't be saved when it first went out. They said, "Well, we'll send somebody out." I was looking and the first contractor said it was the compressor. I said, "Well, I've heard some horror stories about Samsung and compressors." He said, " I'm gonna order a compressor" because that's money for him. He put the new compressor in and everything was working fine. I was shopping again and filled it up with food, and then I lost all that food for the second time.
American Home Shield really likes to go the cheap route until they realize that cheap routes are not gonna work. Now, they just spent eight and change to put into compression, and they gotta buy me a new refrigerator. Sometimes, they just don't like to listen. As far as the refrigerator, it's brand-new. It's working fine. I went ahead and I paid for it first, and then the check came. You gotta show that you did actually buy a refrigerator before you can get reimbursed for it.
I've been dealing with American Home Shield since 1990. It's hit and miss. They're great about some things, but other things, they just go a roundabout way of doing it, especially with big ticket items like air conditioning and refrigerators. You kinda get taken around the mulberry bush but that's pretty much with almost any insurance company. They like to take your money, but they're not so good when they have to give it out. Buyer beware.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

We had a plumbing issue where our water heater would stop making hot water. Then it came to a point where it completely stopped making hot water. Once the contractors got here, it was fine. But it took them four days to call and that was quite a while. But they came right away. They looked at it and then they gave me an estimate, $600, which was quite a lot. So I had to think about it for a few days. Then once I made a decision, I called them and they came out the next day. They were really fast about that, once I made a decision. That was my second claim within a week. The other job, the contractor called right away. If AHS has the leverage to make sure that these people call within a day or two, that would be better. It's also tough to get through on the phone to AHS. It's always a half an hour to an hour of wait unless you call at night.

My tenant called me and said that the air conditioner was not working. I called the American Home Shield and they contacted the local provider quickly. The company called me and said that they were gonna go take a look at it and asked if I would meet them out there. I went out there and met the guy. He came out promptly. Then he went in and he told me what was wrong with it. He said we needed a compressor and a computer board but the factories were not producing them. But he said he was gonna do something about it. A couple of days went by and I called, and they said, “Well, they have to order the compressor.” Home Shield has to get it from a warehouse. Then I called the contractor and he said it would take a couple of days. So getting the part was the challenge and it took about a week to fix the air conditioner. But so far, so good.
Submitting the claim was pretty easy and pretty straightforward. You just go online or call them. Overall, my experience has been okay, but I'm living here in Texas where air conditioning is like a life support system. When I call them and say that my compressor went out, it shouldn't take a week to do. I’d get it done the same day. If I was running Home Shield, I would offer a business owners package or an expedited package. They could get real estate property owners to give an extra $20 a month to get the claim expedited. Business owners are a different type of consumer because they're investment minded. They believe in extending money, in order to get a return or avoid cost at a later date. It is just like when we pay 100 bucks to call the guy out there.
Home Shield did tell me upfront about the turn up fee for the tech to come and I agreed to it. I don't mind paying 100 bucks. But then if something's really wrong, like $4,000 or $5,000 wrong, I'll spend $100 to get all that paid for. I'm glad I bought the plan. It paid for itself. It works. Who would have thought that the moment I bought it, the next day I'd have something like that go on. Overall, they've been a good quality company. They answered the phone and they returned emails. I look forward to doing business with them.

There was a leak in the shower. TJ Plumbing was assigned to us and this is the fourth plumber that had been assigned to for this problem. Every one of them said the same thing. They could not go into the crawlspace to turn off the main water valve. The AHS authorization department says that they could not. But the representatives keep telling me that they could. I don't know what the problem is. But I am really ripping mad at AHS right now. I have been waiting for them to get back to me. The person this morning said he was from the authorization department, which was not true. He said he would get back to me shortly and let me know what was going on. Every time someone from their office says that they'll get back to me, they never ever do.
With this one leak, it's been going on for about three months. The problem is, every time I call and I want a supervisor to call me back, nobody ever calls back and I cannot get the issue resolved. I'm very annoyed with this whole company right now. Nothing is happening. I guess I have to hire my own plumber to do this. I'm out the $100 service fee that I was charged for this. Plus I have to pay someone out of pocket to do something that should be covered. This is not working out well and I'm seriously thinking about dropping the home warranty service. Why should I pay $90 a month if when I call, something can't be done?
For another claim I had, AHS sent someone out to check my central air unit. That needed to be replaced and fortunately, they did that. But there was a problem with that also because the person should have checked out my thermostat as there was definitely something wrong with that. But I could never get him to come back and check it out. He said he was going to check with AHS to see about getting the part but he never got back to me. I called AHS and it was after the 30 days. Now, I can't even have that done unless I pay another $100 fee. It's been quite the experience, to say the least. I'm kind of disillusioned with the whole thing right now.

It seems like everything is going fine. The guys came in, did their job, cleaned up, and left. Very professional. They fixed it. The part took a couple of days, but that goes with the territory. Everything was good. When the tech from Indoor Comfort Experts first came out, there was water standing in my yard and something was stopped up dealing with the air conditioner. Then right after he fixed that, the air conditioner was working fine. Everything was. The water was dried up around my house. And then the air conditioner stopped working. It wouldn't come on at all. He had to come back out and he said something was wrong with the electrical board in it.
I did some troubleshooting. I went outside and flipped the breaker, but that didn't work. I went and turned it off, and I turned it back on. That didn't work, so then I called Home Shield back out. Then that was when they told me that it was something wrong with the electrical board up inside the attic. And then they said they had to order a part. And a part had to be shipped. When the part came in, Indoor Comfort Experts called me and said it was in and they came back and fixed it.

Our AC unit inside the house was leaking, so we submitted a claim to have a professional come check that out. The actual submissions were extremely easy. It was all online and I didn't have to talk to anyone. I paid for it immediately and then I got an email in less than five minutes later and connected me with a professional in my area.
When Home Shield put us in contact with the HVAC company, they said that they would reach out to us in 24 hours to schedule the employment. But they did give us a phone number so I just reached out almost immediately and scheduled my own appointment. They had my claim number and my information. They were able to pull it off.
My wife was when the contractor came but as far as she told me, it was also very easy. He came in and he was able to diagnose the problem. That ended up being a very simple fix. He made the fix and then left. All the billing went straight through Home Shield. He didn't leave us an extra invoice so we just had to pay the deductible to Home Shield.
We needed a secondary professional to come out because when the first guy left, his fix didn't quite do the job. So we called that company back and they said that based on what I told them, it didn't sound like they could fix it. We needed an actual plumber 'cause at first, we had an HVAC professional come out. So, they contacted a plumber and had the plumber come out. They did all that for us which was nice. The plumber came out the same day and made his fix. Then, again, didn't leave an invoice. We did all the billing presumably through Home Shield. Then we have been good since.
The experience was pretty seamless and easy to do. I am definitely glad that I have a home warranty. But I'm interested in is seeing an estimate of billing for how much the actual project costs 'cause I'm interested to see if I've saved money by doing this versus reaching out to an HVAC company directly. I also want to know if any damage that's caused by the thing that I've created the claim for will also be covered. So what essentially happened was we had a leak in our air conditioning unit but that leak got into our wooden floors that we had to have replaced. Other than that, it was very good. I highly recommend them.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for a long time and they have sent out some shady people. The tech for my dishwasher just wanted to know my personal life and was not focused on the problem I had. I came to find out that he didn't even know how to fix the problem and AHS and I had to get the issue referred to another company. It took a month and a half to get my dishwasher fixed that time. It is still not fixed and for three years, I've been calling AHS up for it and nobody can fix it. Their contractors keep replacing parts. Then I would have to wait until I have $75 again to call AHS. I'm dealing with it and washing dishes by hand.
That tech came out again for my refrigerator. That claim got referred to another company again because the tech didn't know how to fix my issue either. He was telling me about some weird Freon insulation that goes around the fridge. The tech from the next company said that he didn't even know what the previous tech was talking about. He fixed my problem in 10 minutes. I don't want the first company in my house again.
Most recently, American Home Shield's tech from Pipe Solutions came to our place. Things were fantastic. The tech was on time. He was a kind and courteous gentleman and he had a mask on. He explained everything, fixed the problem and did a great job. In the 10 years I've been with AHS, they have been great. Their contractors usually contact me within 24 to 48 hours and get my problems fixed within the week. I have saved a lot of money on replacing things because I've just had to pay my fees every month and the fee for the service call. I'm very happy with AHS.

I called American Home Shield because it was backing up in my toilets, tubs and showers, and the back of my bedroom area smelled awful. It wasn't something I needed to wait a day or two on. They said okay and they had somebody around the area so they came on out. The contractor was fast. They came out and fixed the problem. The main plumbing in the house was all stopped up. There was, apparently, a wye and he ran the thing through it and cleaned it out.
I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield. They're pretty quick with most things. They give me the number so I can contact the people and I get a pretty decent response. Some of the people in the area seemed to be a little slow, but that's not in any relation to American Home Shield. However, American Home Shield could be a little quicker with their response on issues with a component and having to have people out multiple times. I've had some things that had to get replaced and it had taken several months before it was done. I don't like that kinda turnaround. I also don't like the fact that if I do have to call, I'm on the phone forever trying to get something to go through. The wait time is long and that's very frustrating.
Since we first had American Home Shield, we'd found out some things aren't listed which seem kind of hidden. The contract should be a little bit more clear in the beginning. We have an ongoing problem with the plugs that are in the garage. We've had people out here and they said if it doesn't connect to the house, they can't work on it. But it's also a same electrical plug line that runs all the way outside, around the outside of the house plugs that are connected to the house. It also runs the septic tank.

Plumbers Inc. came out for our AC unit and everything went fine. They came out when they scheduled the appointment and gave me a text message as far as where the technician was before they arrived. They arrived on time and the repairs were done. They communicated with my husband all of the work that would be necessary to complete the service or to have the unit running again. The technician was able to successfully have our unit come back on. He also had a mask on and there was social distancing.
I'm feeling okay about my service in general with American Home Shield but I was a little disappointed in one of the service calls I had with my stove. American Home Shield approved another technician to come out and look at the stove but he pretty much said the same thing as the first technician did. It really left a bad taste in my mouth. It made me think, “Okay, so everybody's in on it.” The issue is that we bought the house less than four years ago and the reason why the repair couldn't be done was excessive use. My husband ended up fixing that stove issue. The other two events I had with American Home Shield were great.
Our house was built in 2006 and we bought it in 2017. Within that time frame, the home warranty has been beneficial. I recommend it to friends and families, especially when they don't buy a new home. We don't use the home warranty a whole lot, which is a good thing. We don't have a lot of issues with our home but I like just knowing that we pay the cost if something does happen. But I wish American Home Shield offered some sort of discount if you didn't use their service. That would be helpful because that would be another perk to keep it. When everyone's looking at their budget and they start looking at things that they can maybe do without for a while, the would warranty would be on the list.

One of the people who came to install the replacement didn't install it correctly so we had to have another one put in. All it cost us was a $75 fee that AHS charges to send somebody out. It was such a great value that we decided to keep our warranty up.
Most recently, we had a claim for our freezer, ice maker, and dishwasher. Home Shield's contractor, Green’s Appliance LLC called and set an appointment with us. The techs were great. My wife had some questions but they were able to answer them to her satisfaction. They were very pleasant all the way through and both issues were fixed completely. Aside from that, it was very easy to set up the initial claim with AHS.

We had a claim for an outlet that was not working. At first, AHS told me that it was gonna be two weeks for the tech to come out, and I told them that was too long. Then the rep literally put me the very next day. So it was very nice. The tech was good. He fixed the problem.
We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us and please don't hesitate to reach out if you need us in the future. Enjoy your day.

I called American Home Shield and then, I got a phone call back from AMTEC regarding the furnace. They got it working the way it needed to be. A short time ago, my dishwasher stopped working. So, American Home Shield sent a guy out and he got it working too. So, it went well. The experience I had with AHS was very good. They took care of everything and it was done in a timely manner.

The display on our stove wasn't showing anything. It worked, but we couldn't tell what we were doing, such as with the timer. We got the home warranty and they had it checked out. The control board was shot and the contractors couldn't find a replacement for it and submitted it to American Home Shield. They decided to replace the stove in the range and it's on order, but we're still waiting. That was our first claim and we're a little concerned at how long it's taking.
It's been about a couple weeks since the last confirmation that the unit was ordered, and I was hoping it would be here by now. With the COVID, the laws are a little tighter and shipping is longer. All in all, American Home Shield is responsive and they are professional when you reach them on the phone. There's a long wait to talk to somebody, otherwise, they handle the problem. When you submit the claim for the initial evaluation, the local folks come right out. There's no problem at all with it. However, when there's a decision to make about whether to get the part or repair it or replace it, then it gets bogged down.

We've had Home Shield before with a previous home. Great service every time. Recently, a guy didn't put the pipe on my water heater correctly, and somehow it backed up into my closet. The contractor that came was an okay guy. So far, so good.

I had an issue on a drain line under the kitchen and I sent the request to American Home Shield online. The technician got there quickly. He came in and looked at it one day just to make sure he knew the scope of work, and then came and fixed it the next day. Everything is good so far. AHS covered everything and I will probably continue my warranty.

If I could give American Home Shield 0 stars, I would. We have had AHS for several years now, but in the past 2 years, their service has gone downhill significantly. Our most recent issue began on 6/22/20 when we contacted AHS regarding a plumbing leak. The initial contact from the plumbing company was great and we thought all was well until a week after the repair when we noted the leak had begun again on 6/29/20. We called AHS for a recall, and this recall was submitted. The plumber came out on 7/3/20 and had to cut a hole in our ceiling to get a better look at the leak. Plumber stated he needed further guidance to repair the leak from AHS and would be in touch. That's when the problems began.
The plumber states he forwarded the diagnosis to AHS and requested permission to cut into the bathroom vanity to repair the leak. AHS claims they never received a diagnosis from the plumber and report multiple attempts to get information from the plumber without success... plumber claims AHS has never called. After weeks of going around and around, we requested a second plumber come out. AHS agreed and sent another plumber out. The second plumber was unable to find the leak the first plumber stated we had and referred us back to AHS and the first plumber. We called AHS back several times and got no resolution. AHS stated they would send the first plumber back out and then never did. AHS finally agreed to repair the hole in our ceiling on 9/3/20 and sent a request to a local contractor; however, we did not hear from that contractor and had to call AHS back multiple times in regard to this request.
On 9/15/20, AHS finally had the contractor contact us and arrange to make the repair in our ceiling. The contractor advised AHS had initially sent the request but then recalled it, which is why the contractor had not responded earlier. We finally got the hole in our ceiling fixed, but no additional plumbing assessment was completed as per our request and the initial plumber's request. We called AHS several times and the representatives would always say they would follow up and give us a call back, but never would. AHS has poor customer service, does not follow their contract guidelines, and treats customers poorly. I would not recommend using AHS for home warranty services and would recommend researching other home warranty companies.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for almost 5 years. This is my third review because I don’t want to post only negative reviews. I called them last week for my washer. It wasn’t agitating and the spin cycle would not work. Immediately when I put the work order in I was assigned a contractor. It was a week before they came out but it was fixed in less than an hour. The only downside is my appointment was from 8 to 5. Waited all day and the contractor showed up at 630 after several calls and I was out of a washer for a week.
Thanks for sharing your experience.

We had this warranty for over ten years. When our very old air conditioner finally broke and the only solution was to replace or add freon, they agreed to pay $20 out of a $400 bill of freon but nothing towards replacement. Since the old freon used in our unit is no longer in accordance with building codes we asked for a replacement. They continued to decline. We then decided to pay for a new one and to discontinue their service. We tried several times to cancel the service over the phone unsuccessfully. We were put in very long waits of over 30 min, and hanged up because we needed to work. So we stopped the automatic payment.
A month later we started to received email warnings about our unpaid bills. Worried about the outcome, we persevered on the phone attempting to reach someone in the customer service. We finally reached a person who transferred us to someone else, who transferred us to a third person, and every time we had to wait over 20 mins. When we were finally got to someone who could actually cancel our account, we were told we needed to pay $60 of discontinuing fee. Yes, we needed to pay to end our account.
Good afternoon Cristina,
On behalf of American Home Shield, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience we caused you and your family. Thank you for the time that you did trust us to take care of your systems and appliances in your home. We will definitely be using your review to make our services better. Water was leaking from the freezer and it was freezing on the bottom, so I couldn't close the door. I submitted a claim with AHS and the tech they sent out took one of the coils out. He told me what he was doing and he either cleaned it out or adjusted it to where it would let the ice go through there and work properly. All in all, I've had really good experience with AHS and I've found that they're a very good company. But they're so high priced. My sister has coverage elsewhere and she was it was good coverage but is $300 less. And now, I'm considering which way to go. Other than that, anyone who's thinking of getting a home warranty must be careful to read and ascertain what appliances are covered because not everything is covered.

In calling American Home Shield because of my microwave, there was a very long hold time because of COVID. They had limited representatives. They took the claim but the microwave wasn't covered. The tech who came was very nice and knowledgeable. Fortunately, he told me that the microwave was covered under Whirlpool, the manufacturer. They replaced the unit.
The people that have come to the home have always been good. But getting a claim started with American Home Shield was sometimes difficult. The hold time to speak to a representative when you don't use the automated system to file a claim is long. They provide the option of them calling you back though. I tried to get them to call me back once but I never received a call. Otherwise, our overall experience with the company has been positive. It's a good buy for my money.

When submitting claims, I can just do it on my phone online and click a button to request it. The customer service reps were helpful and it was easy to request a service. There can just be delays with the scheduling for the actual vendor they're connecting me with. On a recent service call, they actually nixed because I ended up realizing it wasn't covered with my warranty. It was more than a day, and the vendor they connected me with hadn't even reached out to schedule. That would be my only gripe with them. I'd be concerned if there's something urgent I need to get addressed, and not able to connect with the vendor or get it scheduled in a timely manner.
But on a previous service call for service request, I contacted the vendor right away and scheduled it. The vendor scheduled a week out where it wasn't an urgent matter and I said okay if that’s when the earliest they could come. But then I ended up connecting with American Home Shield and they said that it was beyond their service level agreement and that the vendor needed to be out sooner. They went ahead and scheduled somebody from a different vendor, Loyalty Home Services, out sooner, which was nice.

I'm a little distraught that I pay American Home Shield every year but then every time I do it all on a request, I gotta pay them more money. Then, I gotta pay them more money for every time I do something different. It shouldn't be that way. With my pool claim, the pool contractor came out and said he didn't know. He dipped a little stick in my pool and didn't do anything. Then, he told me my filtering system was not on my pool contract, and I'm trying to figure out why it's not there. Then he charged me $125. When the guy came to do the sink, he was really good. The only thing I hated about it was that I had to wait a couple of extra days to get the work done. He came out and did a check. He could have just come in, do the check, and do the fix instead of coming back three or four days later.

My garage door opener wasn't working. American Home Shield's contractor from Derby Overhead had to come out three different times for me. The techs initially thought they had my door working. They left but it still wasn't working. Derby Overhead came back out and the second tech was a bid temped. He fixed something and it still quit working afterward. AHS finally replaced my garage door opener.
Previously, I had a claim involving my oven not heating properly. It wasn't coming on nor staying on. When I go to heat it, it would go off on me. I had an appliance repairman come and he got lippy with me. He told me the range would never be replaced and that it had a design flaw as I had the model with a double oven with a divider in it. He told me I was gonna have to take out my double oven divider and use it as a single oven to get things to work properly. I looked my issue up on the internet and I didn't see anything about design flaws with my range. I called Home Shield and they got me different techs which I ended up using.
When the tech told me that my oven would never be replaced, that freaked me out because why would a tech doing work for AHS say that something would never be replaced when it says in my contract that if something is not repairable, it's replaceable. That really frustrated and upset me. The contractor sent by AHS came and put a new temp sensor in my oven. The process took about three weeks because I had to wait on parts and the contractor had to schedule me back in. Other than that, I was happy with the new techs they sent out. I'm satisfied with my AHS warranty.

The claims with AHS are very easy to get going. But getting ahold of somebody is a whole different story. I can submit a claim online pretty easily but if I call because I have a question, I might as well expect to wait at least 50 minutes on the line. That's normal and that's one of the biggest problems. When I ask them why I'm waiting online so long, I'm always told that they don't have as many people working now because of COVID. Other than that, the technicians that I've had so far are good. But I had one on the washing machine and didn't seem like he really knew what he was doing, so we ended up replacing the washing machine. But that was cool.
My overall experience with American Home Shield has been good, but aside from the wait time if you need to talk to customer service, it's disturbing that there's no escalation and you can't speak to a supervisor. When I had a problem with my dryer, the technician who came out to fix it ordered a part, then he came out and put it in but it wasn't fixed. I was out a dryer for a month and half, which was way too long a time to escalate it, and I ended up replacing the dryer. Every time I called AHS they would put me on hold and say they'd escalate it, but nobody ever showed up online and I was never put in touch with anybody.

The claim went quickly. The guy was great about getting right back to me and telling me what was going on. He went in, took care of the issue, and reported back to me that everything's fine. He did his job. American Home Shield is great. It's been a lifesaver. I just wish they keep the same contract number every time I renew. When I call in and they wanna know the contract number, and I don't know what it is because it's renewed every time. You pay the bill and renew, and it changes. That's a non-issue but it doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t show that there’s any longevity. It just shows that I’m new every time.

My power had gone out in one of my rooms. Sunbelt Electric came over and checked to see what was going on. It was an outlet. They thought they had to do more, but then, it was just like a breaker shortage in the wire. A week or so or maybe less, they came back and got everything fixed for us. Everything is working well and the power is good and on in those two rooms. Then we are still in the process of our claim for our washer where the water was not draining off of the clothes right, so everything was still wet when it was done washing. The contractor fixed it already but it’s still happening. I guess we need to call American Home Shield to get it rescheduled again.

ACE Heating and Cooling seemed like a good company and I've had them out twice, but we didn't get to do anything. They couldn't install the parts ‘cause I had a roof soffit and there was no room. A roof truss is blocking anyone from being able to install the proper air conditioning outlet vent. The two options are that the roof support could be moved, which they said they're not authorized to do, or I could just seal it up and not have that air conditioning vent anymore. The issue was unresolvable. I had American Home Shield a decade ago as well and I worked it into the negotiation when I bought my house. I place the repair requests online and the appointment is scheduled the next morning.

We have three air conditioners but one wasn't working. I phoned American Home Shield and asked for somebody to come and take a look at it. A technician came out and it was one of the circuits that he said was fried. He did a temporary fix which probably wasn't safe and he left. He said he ordered the part and he’d replace it. A couple of days later, we phoned the company. They said it was fixed. About three or four days later, the air conditioner went again because the fix didn’t hold. We phoned and made another claim.
This is where it gets a bit confusing. About two years ago, I phoned American Home Shield that I wanted my contract sent out but I gave my neighbor's address across the street. So the contractor went across the street and they wouldn't come over to our house. They said I had to make another claim. The contractor couldn't come out till the following Tuesday which was five days later. With a 112-degree weather, the lady at the house couldn't handle it anymore. She went and called another air conditioning company and they came out. They charged almost $700. They said because the first guy screwed up the panel, they had to fix that and we had to pay for it.
I have no problem placing a claim with American Home Shield. They were pretty good. When I phoned them the second time, I complained about the air conditioner guy. They were gonna report it back. They said that shouldn't have happened. He shouldn't have said it was a temporary fix then closed it. Overall, American Home Shield has some good people. My experience in dealing with American Home Shield was good but I was very unhappy with the company that was sent out or the technician and that I had to hire an outside source to fix the problem.

We were with Sears, but Sears was closing up shop locally here in our area. We shopped around and thought American Home Shield was rated well. We thought, “Let's just go with them.” We got an offer to have the heating system checked for $75 so, we went ahead and signed up for that. Then for some reason, it was put, “This is what's going to happen on your AC check.” I ignored that because they sent another email about, “This is what's happening on your heating check.” Then there was a follow-up, like, “This is what's happening on your heating check.”
The representative came out on the 24th. He checked the heating and he found a cracked heat exchange in our furnace that's downstairs in our basement. The heat pump checked out okay for the upper level of the house. But he said that carbon monoxide could be leaking, but we have not turned on our heat yet this year. He said, “You're gonna have to call American Home Shield to set up an appointment.” I spoke to someone with AHS and they said that they would contact the heating company.
We got an email on the 26th when I had spoken to the representative, and it said, “Good news. The heating guy is coming out on the 24th.” I thought, “This is weird. That’s when he first came out.” I sent an email back, “Do you wanna check this date? Because it's wrong. That's the original time that the technician came out, it was the 24th.”
I called this morning and I used the automated system to see the status of the work order. It said that it was in progress. In other words, it's in the system. I also haven't gotten any emails, which were usually really prompt. I called the heating company and they said, “We don't have that work order. You're gonna have to contact American Home Shield.”
I got on the phone and I talked to a really sweet representative of AHS. She took down all the information and then she said, “Okay, we will contact the heating company to get this thing going again.” We were comfortable with the rep that came out, his name was Nick. He just said, “When you do set it up, you can get me back out here again, the same company.” I was like, “Yeah, fine.”
They were very good about answering the phone. It was just I initially had my hair on fire, like Carbon monoxide, we don't need this. So, we wanna get that addressed. I don't have any issues. So far, we've only used American Home Shield when the freezer was not making ice and there was no problem, that was solved. Both times when we had somebody come out, the contractors were very professional and came right on time. The original window of service was 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. They came before 9 o'clock in the morning, so we couldn't complain about that. Everyone I've spoken to at AHS has been very polite, very professional and they take their time as well. No one's been rude. I know that this heating thing is gonna be addressed.
