For several years now, I've had coverage with American Home Shield. I called them when the pool motor burned out and got a rep who was good. The same can be said about the technician who came. For this particular claim, things went well and American Home Shield did a pretty good job. But I had two other claims that I wasn’t really happy with. One was for my dishwasher and I had to pay three different times before the technicians got it right. The dishwasher seems to be working well now. I also had a Jacuzzi problem. Technicians came out but they couldn't fix it. I had to hire an electrician to fix that. Those two claims weren't good experiences.

I recently had a plumbing claim with American Home Shield. The coils were out. It wouldn't heat the hot water tank. The AHS reps were very professional. They did an excellent job. Hoosier Plumbing did fine, too. They were good. I've been with American Home Shield for 14 years. I don't like changes, and I'm happy where I'm at. The only trouble is the price keeps going up, and one of these days, maybe it'll come back down.
Good afternoon Stephen,
We strive to provide you with a great team of contractors and an even better customer service experience. We hope you continue to enjoy your AHS warranty!

I called AHS about our refrigerator and the first contractor came and looked at it but didn't come back. And then the last contractor from Lacrosse Home Services called and said what the time frame was, and he came out. He was nice and very professional. I actually liked it because he said he could fix it. And it was an older refrigerator made in the 60's. I like them, and personally, if I had to use them again, I would. I like them better than ABC Service. ABC was working on the refrigerator that was still covered by them when I purchased it. They couldn’t even fix the ice maker.
Agatha,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done and glad that you would consider to use Lacrosse Home Services again. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed.

I liked the contractor from GE Appliances who came out for my refrigerator that was not getting cold. I submitted the claim with American Home Shield online. It was easy to go online and to enter all that information. And then, they called me back the same day and set up the appointment, so it was fine. The contractor came out and figured out what the issue was and corrected it. He did all that inside that one trip. He had to change out the coil and a couple of filters and something else, and he went over everything that was the matter with it. Since the repair, the fridge has been working fine.
Good afternoon Clay,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

In the beginning of this year, I called American Home Shield to file a claim and they were probably too busy and forgot to send someone. Also, before sending someone, AHS would charge $75 and then the contractor would come here. In April, the contractor came and looked but didn’t do anything. We already paid the money. They said that it was a lifetime warranty and they should not have to do anything. They should at least call and order parts that they were changing. So, he left and I called the company. They sent us some other people and the same thing happened. So, the third time, I said that it wasn’t right. I told them that it has been a headache. I kept calling for two months and complained that they come and fix it.
Since that time when the summer issue happened, I would tell people not to go to AHS and that I was very disappointed. But they corrected it and this time, I called the 1-800 number of American Home Shield to file the claim for the AC and the rep said they would send someone and they did. The contractor came and my husband told him that he didn’t have to waste time to check since we already knew what was going on. He checked directly and then fixed everything back to normal in a short time. He was good.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for a number of years and how I submit a claim depends on my needs. I would go online, but sometimes I need to schedule for them to call a different number, like a renter. So, if I need special assistance, then I would call in. The contractor for the plumbing was on time, very respectful and cleaned up after himself. He did a good job. But there have been several times that either the vendor that they’re using is not a very good vendor, or they would say they don’t cover something that I thought was covered. When it works, it works well, but when it doesn’t, it’s disturbing and frustrating.

I was excited to switch over to this company because of all of the amazing reviews they had. However I have been so dishearten and disappointed at each step. We had a plumbing issue occur in our house, and prior to contacting American Home Shield, I contacted a local plumber. He came to our house and diagnosed the problem for us. After having that diagnosis, I contacted American Home Shield, where I spoke to two different customer service agents. Both verified for me that the work I needed done was in fact covered under my contract. Based on that, I paid their service fee, and scheduled to have a plumber come out through them. Their plumber came out, confirmed the diagnosis of the previous plumber I had come out.
However, I then received a call from American Home Shield stating that the work needed was not covered under my contract. I was shocked and surprised because I had been told that it was in fact covered. When I explained the situation, the woman told me to call customer service and ask for a review. I was extremely frustrated because I had now missed work to have the plumber come out, and they now couldn't do the work. I called on Monday (same day this all occurred), submitted the complaint and asked for the review. I was told that they would have someone review the calls, and if in fact they had told me it was covered under my contract, they would pay for the work. I was also told that I would receive a call within 24/48 hours with their findings.
I called on Monday and when Thursday came around and I still had not received a call, I decided to call. When I called Thursday, I asked to speak with a supervisor (which I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes waiting). When I spoke with a supervisor, he did not have any answers, but told me he didn't know why there was no finding, and that it would now be escalated to him. He stated he would call me the next day, Friday, to update me and give me more information. He also stated that they wouldn't cover the work needed regardless of the finding (differing from what I was told) and that I could only get my service fee back.
It is now Saturday, and I never received a call back from the supervisor. I am beyond frustrated with this company. Each person I talk to tells me something different, and they never follow through on their word. As a homeowner we purchased this so that we could feel protected, and rely on this company when we needed something fixed. We are now left feeling like we can't trust this company, what their employees say, or for them to follow through and help. I had recommended my brother and co-worker to switch to this company, however I have since rescinded that due to this experience.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

Our A/C system needed to be replaced while having a home warranty with American Home Shield. When American Home Shield would send out repairmen they would only get authorization to add Freon to the A/C unit. The repairman sent out stated that the system did need replacement but American Home Shield would not authorize it. This happened during the summer of 2009 and the summer of 2010. The fall of 2010 our policy expired and American Home Shield would not renew our policy. A year later we had to pay for the full replacement of our A/C system.
Good Morning Steven,

Updated on 11/06/2019: You will pay over $800 a year. $75 dollar service fee each time you need help. We are over 10 appointments on HVAC now. They will make it work for at least 30 days, and charge you another service fee after the 30 days. Between hours lost at work (4 hour windows), annual fees, service fees, and what AHS has paid out, we have paid for more than 2 brand new systems. After years and years with them, I did get a new $100 dollar garbage disposal that has lasted (we never use it).
You will also spend A LOT of time on hold. I suggest clicking the option for new member. They answer right away. I guess new members are more valuable than those of us who are paying salaries. Loyal customers are "expected", not appreciated. We have some time left on this contract so hopefully we can find a more appreciative company. That's how it is nowadays; people expect you to appreciate them for letting you pay them.
Original Review: Patience (and disposable income) are important with this warranty. It is very expensive and your policy is not the only cost. You will pay $75 every time someone comes to your home. For me, the average wait time on the phone when you call is over 30 minutes. My AC has had problems for nearly two years. We have had many, many appointments (at least 15), and here I sit yet again with no AC, in Louisiana.
Our AC was out for the entire month of July last year. Ensure you factor the amount of money you could potentially lose in hours lost from work while waiting on technicians to come to your home (four hour windows at least). Between what they have spent, and what I have spent (lost), we could have purchased two entirely new AC systems. If you ever want to elevate an issue to management, good luck. I haven't figured that one out yet. The company's management is well guarded, to say the least. So anyway, like I stated, make sure you have disposable income and time when considering a home warranty.
Wow Kevin! I can understand your frustration with trying to get your a/c issue resolved. I live in the South and the heat can be unbearable. I apologize for any inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I've email you in an effort to make sure your a/c claim is resolved.

We had a list to choose from and I asked someone her preference and which she had the most experience with, and AHS was the answer. So, we went with them. Everything was good with the contractor for the lock re-key. The guy showed up on time, did a good job, and was in and out quickly.

They claimed 24hr emergency support. They use call centers essentially to screen and deflect people with legitimately covered problems. We have had no support whatsoever, just the runaround after runaround for hours after calling in for assistance when their contractor flooded our basement... and the original leak still wasn't resolved. We are filing a formal complaint with the department of Insurance and seeking legal action for damages because that is the only way we can think of to get an actual straight answer out of this company. To say I am disappointed would be an insult to the word disappointed.

I did a load and the washer didn’t drain, didn’t go into the spin, rinse or spin cycle. So, it stopped and it was full of water. I went to American Home Shield's website and filed a claim. The process was super easy and user-friendly considering we’ve had a couple of claims. The interaction with the their contractor, Frontier Appliance Repair, was really good and the guy that came out was excellent. The washer has been good since then. I’ve only done a few loads of washes, but it has all worked out. I was able to get laundry done quickly. It didn’t build up as much because everything was figured out and addressed within 48 hours.

The freezer was not freezing solidly so the ice cream was always mushy, and then the ice maker stopped making ice. I submitted the claim online and the website left a little to be desired, but for a simple repair that you can describe easily, it’s fine. When the contractor came out, they finally authorized a repair to have the compressor replaced. We've emptied the freezer in the fridge completely and they noticed that the light inside the freezer has exploded and melted a bunch of stuff. The diagnostic was there was a short somewhere and we would never find the short anywhere with all this going on so they just said that they were gonna replace it or give us a cash buyout. We got a new refrigerator, and we upgraded it and took it. It was a process, but ultimately, the ending was happy.
I use American Home Shield because I started using them when I opened my business in 1992, so they're who I know. All warranty companies have a communication problem. I'm sitting on hold for 30 minutes at a time, and then, the right hand and the left hand, but that's just part of their process, whether it's American Home Shield or whomever. And I have a local rep that I know personally, so that helps me. So, generally American Home Shield is a well-known company, but there are others.
Good afternoon Donald,
Your feedback is more than appreciated. We are glad to hear about your experience and the repairs that are complete.

I've been with American Home Shield since April and it was recommended to me by my Realtor. She had used them in the past and had customers that have had problems, and they were very happy with them. One time, I called American Home Shield at 10 o'clock at night to file a claim, and there was someone there to take my order. The rep took my complaint and entered it into their database and told me right then and there who would be coming out the very next morning. I was given a phone number so I could call the contractor myself as well, and the AHS rep made sure I was informed every step of the way. She even called me back the next morning and assured me that someone would be coming that day for us.
The AHS rep who helped me did a good job. However, the phone number to the company that was given to me was the wrong phone number. I got a lady who told me that she gets that call on a regular basis, and she doesn't know why AHS reps are giving out her personal number. I contacted American Home Shield right away the next morning and let them know about that. They looked into that and sent my request over by email this time instead of by phone. The rep said they have deleted the number from their records and they're going to try to locate their new number. She called me back a couple of hours later and told me that the problem with phone number was resolved and the contractor would be out on that day.
That morning, I went online to get the correct number, called the contractor and they had somebody there by 1 o'clock the next day because it was 102 degrees in Alabama. With no AC, that's not a good thing especially when you have allergies and asthma. The service guy did a great job of fixing the AC in 20 minutes and we had air conditioning again. It was perfect.

I filed a claim to AHS for my AC and the first guy that AHS sent out was very rude, aggressive, abrasive and tried to intimidate me. I had to ask him to leave. AHS understood and said that they would send another company out. They happened to have a guy right in the area, and it was the same day. Two guys showed up. They were perfect and did everything right. They were in and out and got it fixed. It was just a little part that probably didn’t even need the $100 deductible. But they were so good, it was night and day. However, the AHS rep said there wouldn’t be another $100 fee, but for some reason, I got something in the mail the other day that said I owed $100, and I paid the $100 the first time.

The contractor came out for the first time, determined what the part was for the refrigerator and then, they came back and brought the new part out but that didn't fix it. The next time they came out, they had the right part and that seemed to be working but then, there was another part that was making intermittent noise. They had to take the thing apart and determined that it was a fan, and then, he ran out of time that day and couldn’t reassemble it. He came back, fixed it and reassembled the interior of the fridge. Since then, it has been working fine but it took almost five weeks to fix. It was not the fault of the contractor. It’s just the whole process was drawn-out. Still, I’m satisfied with my experience with AHS.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for 12 years and they ended up fixing at least one thing a year that sort of covers the cost of having the insurance. I normally submit my claims on the phone and the customer service is fine but some people they have in their network are not necessarily good. Magic Appliance, the contractor, had to come back about six times. Three different people came and they had to come each time to see what was wrong. But then, when they came back the next time, they didn't bring the correct part. The machine was too old and they didn't have that part anymore. At the end of the day, the machine was still not fixed. They gave us kind of a workaround.
There was another part that was not working, like the buttons on the top, and that part doesn't exist anymore. We were not sure if it was time for a new machine, or if we were supposed to just live with this dishwasher that’s only working so-so. They were very nice, but I had to call, very frustrated, a few times to say that I didn't want someone else to come out here that doesn't know what they're doing. They sent the top guy, and he knew the machine really well but those things couldn’t be fixed. They did what they should do. AHS called the company back and reassigned them on a recall. They didn't charge us for all those times that they were coming back.
I just had another thing with my plumbing, and that was frustrating because I called, and it was the faucet on the sink that was leaking underneath. I told AHS that I wanna know if this was gonna be covered if someone comes out, and they told me it was gonna be covered. The guy came out, and he told us that it needed to be replaced, and that they wouldn’t be covered. So, I called AHS back and said that I wanted my $75 or whatever it is back, which they said okay and they would take care of it. I took off work to be here for the guy to come, and I was very specific about saying that I didn't want a service call if this was not gonna be covered. I didn't need someone to come and tell me that it needs to be replaced. I know it needs to be replaced. Nevertheless, I’m satisfied with AHS.

The vent above my range was malfunctioning. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and their website was easy to navigate. I remember it saying I’d hear from a contractor within 24 hours. The contractor came out to take a look at the issue, if not 24 hours, at least the next business day. However, when he came out, I couldn't find the key. It was on the other half of my house, so he left. When I found it, he came right back. He took a look at the vent and there was a leak, a roofing problem that needs to get taken care of as well. So, the vent was not fixed entirely yet because I need to fix this leak problem and that is not included in my warranty. I've had American Home Shield when I bought this house a year ago. The seller had paid for it as a part of the sale for the first year. However, I’m trying to decide right now whether or not to continue to use it, but I am leaning towards not just because of the price.

The motor on the dryer stopped working and I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor was there within a few days and they were great. They had to go back and get approval from AHS. The technician felt that the whole unit was gonna get replaced but they said to just replace the motor. So, they ordered the part and he replaced it. Then with the new motor in there, everything was clanking because all that stuff was just as old as the motor. So, he had to go back again and get that approved through AHS. He came out and replaced those, and it seems to be working fine since.
I was without a dryer for a week and a half but it wasn't as long as the upstairs air that I was without for three weeks. That happened at the same time. AHS failed to tell me that they would pay up to $150 to get a portable cooler. I wasn't told that until a day or so before the contractor actually came out to replace the part. So I was really unhappy with that with American Home Shield. Felix Home Appliance was great and I had no issues in getting the air conditioner done with them but with American Home Shield, I couldn't get answers and I literally was left on hold with them for almost two hours for one day.

I just reopened a claim with American Home Shield. I'm having the same issues with the freezer. Last night, I went to get some ice cream out of the freezer. I have four containers of ice cream in there and they were all soft. I don’t buy a lot of meat, but I do have a few things in there. So, I put it on power freeze to see if I could make it colder for the time being. So, it’s better, but I’m sure it’s not working right. So, I called in last night. I’m still within the 60 days but I couldn’t really get anything done last night. So then, I called again this morning and reopened the old claim. Sears was great. But then, after Sears had been here and pretty much handled everything, AHS sent out a different contractor called CD’s. They really didn’t do anything, and they weren’t very helpful. So, I don’t really wanna deal with them with this reopening of the claim. I’d rather go with Sears again.
I called AHS and then after I told her everything that was going on, she said that I would have to call back today because Sears was closed. So then, after I spoke with her, I went online and I filed the claim on my own. But then this morning when I got up, I saw that it said that CD’s would contact me, and I thought, “I don’t want CD’s to contact me.” So then I called in this morning again, and the lady I spoke with canceled what I had done online and she did a new one. I’m still waiting for somebody to call me to schedule service. So, that’s where it is right now. Because it is the freezer, it’s kind of urgent. I don’t want everything to go bad in there.
Also, I'm not too pleased with the foreign agents. They’re very sweet and nice, and I don’t have any complaints about their handling of the call. It’s just that there always seems to be a little bit of a language barrier there. It’s a little bit frustrating when you’re trying to convey something that’s kind of urgent, and their efforts would be so nice, and I'm sure they don’t mean to, but they’re a little frustrating.

The experience with AHS was great and they took care of the problem. I told some of my neighbors that they might wanna look into getting it.

American Home Shield has been great, but multiple people communicating take time. For the most part, the reps are knowledgeable. But sometimes, I’ve had claims escalated because there's a communication barrier. The contractors have been great as well, though I’ve had a contractor or two that either didn’t show up or didn't diagnose the problem correctly.
They've already completed the work that was done on the dishwasher, but I have work being done on my air conditioner, and I have work being done on my heater. I went out and bought other individual AC units because the heat wave was tremendous this year. There was a period of time when I had my 88-year-old mother living here, and I couldn't have her living in a 90-degree house. But the dishwasher has run very smoothly. The techs came out and said, “This is the part that it needs, but unfortunately, the part is no longer available.” Within days, they gave me a list of dishwashers to choose from to order, and the installers did a great job of installing it. I’ve already recommended AHS to a couple of friends.

American Home Shield sent Myers Comfort Specialists of Montgomery who was great. They had to replace the air handler ‘cause the evaporator was leaking, and they had come out prior to replace Freon, which was when the tech found out it was leaking. When they came out the next time, they had to release all of the Freon. Once they fixed the problem, they went ahead and added 10 pounds. They did a good job on it.

A friend of mine found American Home Shield and I’ve been with them since June. It was kinda hard to get and to talk to a person when I submitted the claim because of the voicemail system that they have set up. They want you to do it over that system which is a norm these days. Me being older, I prefer to talk to a person to tell them what I want so that I know it will be done that way but AHS was very helpful. I had to call back and add something to my order because the plumbing company said I needed to put three different things on my order or else they may charge me more. They added it so, it was alright.
The contractor wasn’t very talkative but as long as he did the job, it wasn’t important. We just told him the problem and he fixed it. There was one bolt left unscrewed under the kitchen sink, and my brother tightened it up because it had just started leaking. It was done by hand so it wasn’t necessary to call them back for that. Overall, they were fine. They came on time and I would recommend AHS.

We had a backed-up sink upstairs and we used the toll-free number to call American Home Shield to submit the claim. We got a message telling us when to expect the contractor. He was good and we had an excellent interaction. He explained exactly what he was gonna need to do, what was covered by American Home Shield, and what potentially he might have to do that wouldn’t be covered. He asked us what we wanted him to do to proceed and then, he was done within about an hour. He was clean when he came in and he cleaned up after himself when he was done working so, I got no complaints at all. The problem hasn’t come back since and he told us what to do to make sure that it continues to keep that pipe clean.
Overall, the experience with AHS was good. We had some claims that were handled better than others, but usually, those were related not so much to American Home Shield as they were to the contractor who came out. We’ve been American Home Shield customers for well over 10 years, and we renew every year. We recommend them.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for a garbage disposal. I did it online which I prefer than calling and it went well. The process was easy, you just have to select what you needed. It was a Sunday when I filed the claim and their contractor came out Tuesday only because I couldn’t go back home and they didn’t have an appointment Monday. It was just a garbage disposal, so I wasn’t freaked out about the scheduled service. The gentleman who came out was very kind, respectful and polite, and I was very comfortable with him. He answered all of my questions, he came in and quietly did his job. He told me, “Yup, we’re gonna have to replace it.” He went and got the other garbage disposal, came in, got down under the sink and replaced it. The new garbage disposal works fine. Everything went well.

American Home Shield was who I had when I bought the house and I stuck with them. I’ve been with them for about two years and I typically like to talk to somebody when making claims and the service has been good from the rep. I've never had any bad experience but just to have a technician come look at something, you're paying whether or not they had to fix it or not. I wish it was a little bit more different such that if it turns out you don't need the service, they would charge me whatever it cost to get the person to come out. I've called once or twice and it was something as simple flipping a breaker. So, I was charged whether it was broken or not. Still, the guy who came out from Fidelity Appliances Services was super professional, told me what was wrong and he was right on as far as how long it would take. He got everything done.

American Home Shield has honor their commitment to reimburse $600 toward my purchase of a new washer. Their follow up customer service was better experience.
Original Review: Sept. 21, 2019
My most recent claim with American Home Shield on the washer did not go very well. The contractor didn't fix anything. They came out three times. The first time they came out, the original problem was a water leak. They found the clamp was off. They installed the clamp back on. As soon as they walked out, we started the washing and it leaked right back again. I called again, and they took a couple of days to get back with me, to come and take a look at it, and they said it was some type of bearing stuff. So, they started to order the bearings, and then the bearings weren't ordered. Apparently, they were going to buy the washer if they can't fix it. I think that was the process, and I said, "No, I want the parts replaced." Apparently, they didn't get approval for them to order the parts.
I waited a little bit again for them to come back and put the parts. They came out yesterday supposedly with the parts, and they walked away and I turned it back on and it leaked. So, we're right back where we started. I have no washing machine. The contractors are waiting for approval to see what the next step is. I'm waiting to hear back from them. This wasn't a very good experience.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. Thanks for your patience.

American Home Shield has been very quick and very receptive to our need. So, we’ve been very pleased. Jerry’s Mechanical came out for the air conditioning for the unit outside because it’s been making ridiculously horrible noises. They said that the motor was warbling in there so it needs replacement, but that American Home Shield tends to not replace until the things totally burn out. They kinda put you off until that time. They were gonna put in the claim to American Home Shield, and I never heard back. So, we need to get on that today.
I've been with American Home Shield in this house for about four years since we’ve owned it. I still have American Home Shield on a rental that I own in Chandler, Arizona. So, I’ve had it a very long time. I’ve had that one on probably 20 years. For the most part, they’ve been on top of things there. I submit claims both on the phone and online. They quickly respond with the appropriate professional to come out, and they put the phone number down. So, generally, I call the service myself and set up an appointment, and that’s worked out really well. But when it’s something more challenging than a toilet running, it’s a fight every time for who’s responsible. So, that’s a major problem. When it costs big money, they're gone, argue their way out, and read the fine print.

AHS - American Home Shield first sent us their subcontractor upon opening a service request. After making several calls and leaving 3 voice messages they finally called back after 3 days and said they do not service refrigerators. Then we called back and the sent another company. Same thing after repeated calls and leaving voice messages they gave an appointment. Tech showed up and said he cannot do anything and AHS will not cover anything because it is old Fridge and to call LG directly to see if they can help. Called LG support and they said Fridge is covered and they will send certified tech and he will replace the compressor free. They will charge 125 service fee and 250 labor.
Called AHS to cover the labor cost and they said they will not pay anything. I asked them to at least refund me back my 125 deductible I had paid to open the request as their service contractors were not able to repair anything and it was waste of my precious time. They said they will not refund. I said please cancel both my rental property and residential and they said I have to pay administration fees and their retention team will call. We are 7 people in family with 2 kids and also a 89 year old and had to wait 2 weeks and fridge is still not repaired. Please stay away from American Home Shield, they just take your money and put service charge and when it comes time to refund make excuses not to pay you.

I filed a claim over the phone for the air conditioner that died and American Home Shield approved and got me a new air conditioner in two to three weeks. But I had to keep calling them myself. I kept getting misinformation from multiple people before we could get a straight answer. It was absolutely horrible. They were unable to rectify the problem. They didn't get back to me and there was no follow-up either. The only people who were remotely helpful were the supervisors I was able to get to. I kept getting in touch with people, in the Philippines and in foreign countries, who didn't speak English very well or weren't able to communicate the problem. It was a nightmare.
The only people who could help were OSA. They're fantastic. They've done stuff in my house before and they're very professional, good and courteous. Everything is fine now and American Home Shield has also replaced a bunch of things in my house before. I end up getting new appliances but they're very difficult to deal with, and people like OSA say the same thing. There are extended hold times whenever you're trying to reach them. You get multiple different stories and it takes forever for them to follow up and get back. Unfortunately, you don't have a choice if you use their service. We've had American Home Shield for five years. We have to renew every year and they keep raising the price. They send you a bill with the new price and I'm on autobill so if I don't do anything, it gets recharged with the new price. If I wanna cancel it, it would probably take me a couple of hours on the phone.
I apologize for the inconvenience Andrew. I really hate that you have not receive satisfactory service. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you in an effort to assist with unresolved issues.

My water heater failed and was leaking water through my wall. I filed a claim to American Home Shield and I did it online. They sent a contractor out in two days and they took care of everything that same day. They did it while I was not home, which made it easier. However, I did have an issue after they fixed it. Since I wasn’t there, I asked the contractor to leave an invoice for me to pay it and that I would do a credit card, initially. We played phone tag for two weeks. I tried to call the contractor over and over and their rep said he’d call me back but he never did. And just last week, I got a text and he said that he felt as if I was trying to get out of payment. He was disrespectful about it and I didn’t appreciate that because I’ve tried to reach him.
At that point he wanted my credit card number over the phone and I told him that was not an option anymore. I told him I would mail a check and that was the only way I was gonna pay. And so, I mailed the check last Monday and it has yet to be cashed. I don’t know why they were harassing me about a payment if they’re not even gonna cash the check. I do not wanna use that contractor again.

We had a problem with the air conditioner and I submitted the claim online. American Home Shield then called us to let us know somebody was gonna be contacting us. Only thing that I didn't like about the situation is that this is such a big company. If they would go in and select people that's available 24 hours, and when you send in a house that's 90 degrees like outside for a whole weekend to get somebody to come here, and you pay that much for them to have service for you at all times, it kinda puts us in a bind when you got kids in the house. So I would rather for them to select companies that are 24 hours available versus one that I have to wait two days. Because we discovered the problem on a Friday night, and we had to go through Saturday and Sunday with no air. The company that they selected wasn't available on the weekends.
It wasn't the contractor's fault. They were really good people. The guy that came out was awesome. He educated us on the air conditioner. Even before he left, I discovered a problem with the air conditioner, and he came in, got back out the car no problem, stayed the next extra 10 minutes just to see if he could see what was going on, and then discovered that there was another problem with it on top of what he resolved before he left. So, it's a really good company. He pretty much fixed everything. The air conditioner is holding its temperature. Everything is good thus far. I was very satisfied.
American Home Shield is very helpful. When we paid them $500, I thought that we were getting the coverage for everything that they advertised. But it's another plan that's a little bit higher. Had I known about the other options, I would've got the maximum. But our policy stated the electronic things were gonna be covered, but the stove was not, because we don't have that plan. My thing is if we gonna go in and pay cash for our house like we did, and I'm getting American Home Shield to protect me, then I wanna have the maximum, because I wanna get my money's worth to get whatever fixed out of it. But overall, they're a great company. There is not a call that they didn't respond to, and they were successful at getting things done in matter of time.
Kimberly,

We had a pipe that got plugged, which was a very simple, small thing that needed to get fixed. The contractor had come before and they were nice, courteous and did their stuff. I could’ve fixed it myself if I realized, but they took care of it quickly and left. I called American Home Shield to submit the claim and the only difficulty with the process are the companies that are picked. Sometimes, they're not very high-rated. As soon as you go and read about them online, they'll only be low ratings and I find that often, the first one is like that. Then I have to say that I don’t like them, that I’ve already talked to those guys before and to give me another one. I kind of grumble a little bit, and AHS would find me another one. I don’t like that the options that are provided initially aren’t good ones.
The other thing that sometimes happens is that I have had, in the past, some difficulty with items that I ask about, and then, when the person comes, are not covered. So, that’s kinda frustrating, and I had to go around. Then, I had to get some process and I had to call back. I told them that they told me this was covered, that we have to pull some records and listen to what the phone call was. I don't have time for all that crap. That was getting too complicated. So, with the scheduling process, I’m not happy with that and I dread doing that.

Sears came out, and I also had really good interactions with them. It took two trips, but they resolved the issue. The claim was on the clothes dryer. An initial problem was the heating element had burned out. And with them working on it and moving the machine around, it got a wire loosened. It did run okay for about a week, but with a certain amount of vibration you have with the washer and/or dryer, the wire that was a little loose became completely loose, and the contractor had to come back out and attach the wire so it would work properly.

We used American Home Shield once last year and once this year when the AC was not working at all. I called that in and the rep was great. My only thing is when I called this year, they gave us a number to call for the contractor and we had trouble getting through to them. I called back again because by late afternoon I still couldn’t get an answer from the contractor. They ended up calling within 30 minutes. It all worked out but I was concerned that it didn’t seem like anyone was answering the phone in the office at first.
But it was great. Technicians came out and they did a wonderful job. They knew within an hour or so what was wrong with the AC. They had to get underneath the house and check the wires. It turned out the problem was just a wire. I was really surprised because the AC is an old unit. We heard it was gonna be more expensive. It may have been after 5 o’clock by the time they finished but they got it done. They were very good about not leaving a mess which was unusual with contractors. Also, they washed and they wiped their feet because they had to go underneath where it was muddy. I was very impressed with them.
When we bought our lake house, the seller paid the first year of American Home Shield's warranty. That was part of the contract because the air conditioner was older. This is the beginning of our second year with them. This home is a second home for us so we felt like we could not afford to carry two homes if there are stuff going wrong all the time.

I called American Home Shield for a plumbing issue in the laundry room. They gave me the number of the contractor to call and they said they were gonna send the claim over to the contractor so the contractor would have it in their queue. Dave's Plumbing came out in three days and they did a great job fixing the shutoff valve. The tech had to replace the valve entirely and he had to go to Lowe's but he had it on within a couple of hours. Thankfully, this wasn't an issue where we went without water for a couple of days.

I had an air conditioning claim most recently with American Home Shield and Service One Air came out. They identified the problem right away, replaced the motor on the condenser and it has been running fine ever since. The gentleman was very thorough, very confident, had the part on his truck, so there was no waiting. American Home Shield's online process was straightforward. I called on a Friday and the contractor came out on a Monday and we're back in business that day. So, it was one of my better experiences. But then, again, it was an easy, straightforward repair. The part that was replaced was a common part that the plumber happened to have on the truck. We've had cases where we had to wait weeks.
We've been using American Home Shield since 2016 and we just renew once a year. I had seven plumbing issues and had to get a second opinion. All of them were disqualified by American Home Shield because it was claimed by a plumber that we had over-pressure in our system from our city water supply. I had the city come out, he measured it and he saw all the pressures were fine. But despite all that, I still got a letter from AHS saying, "You have over-pressure and so none of your plumbing problems are covered." And things like valves that don't shut off. And the technician would say, "Well, unless it's leaking water all over, spraying water all over the house, it hasn't failed." But in my opinion, an emergency shut-off valve is a safety device. If it doesn't shut off, it's failed, but it's not leaking. So, we get into all these legalistic semantics and it drives me nuts. So, if I don't renew with American Home Shield, that is precisely the reason why.

We just bought a house and we asked for a home warranty. American Home Shield was offered and it was easy to sign up. A few days after we moved, we had an issue with our freezer. We woke up one day and the ice melted on the floor. I went online and filled the claim. The first person American Home Shield sent out said he needed another opinion. He talked to the warranty company and they sent another person. That person came out and fixed something. But we still do not have a working fridge. It’s been almost four weeks. I’m very disappointed. I have a small wine cooler but it's tough.
We were told that there was something wrong in the coolant then the compressor. My husband called the guy and was told the pieces were ordered. But he won’t be able to come out and fix the fridge until next week. I’m a real estate agent and I am never referring my clients to buy American Home Shield. We deal with other home warranties and by now, they would have fixed the problem or something has been done. Having had other home warranties before, the prices are all very similar - $50 or less which is not a big deal. Signing up for a service or work request is easy everywhere too. But in terms of the followup and the efficiency of the repair, I’ve had a way better experience than American Home Shield. They are very poor.

AHS's online process was quick and easy. I was very pleased with them and the promptness with which their contractors came out and I was also given some tips on how to keep things from happening again. The last claim I had was a stopped up sink. I submitted my claim in the afternoon and the contractor was there the next morning. It’s going pretty well now. I had another claim about a refrigerator that was not operating correctly and it took about a week for them to come out, which was not good. People don’t want to have to wait a week for a refrigerator. But once the contractor came out, he did a very good job. Everything’s working great. My AHS experience was good, overall.

AZ Remodeling and Plumbing came out recently for an air conditioning issue, and it took several days before they came out because there was a storm around. I got a message saying the tech would be out tomorrow, even though it was windy, so I stuck around for four hours. I phoned the repair guy and never got an answer from American Home Shield. I was really pissed off because everybody was closed, but they sent me a message saying the tech would be here. Still, the tech that came was very good. My thermostat was acting funky because of the storm, and when he got here, it was acting fine. He said, "There’s a warranty for two months. If it acts funky again, I’ll be back.”

Everything worked perfectly when I recently filed a claim to American Home Shield for an AC. I did it online, which I don't normally do, but getting through the phone business sometimes can be tedious. Nonetheless, everything was fine. The online process worked quickly and I pushed the buttons. The guy from Texas Best Heating & Air that came out was a true gentleman and was very informative. He helped us cut our cost significantly by replacing a part rather than throwing out a 28-year-old air conditioner.

When I first started submitting my request, I wanted to change something and it was really nuts because I couldn't get a hold of anybody. But they've improved the online process so much that I don't need to call anyone. Now, the minute I submit my claims, within 24 hours, I get a text and immediately, I get a confirmation on my phone. Then whoever's doing the work will call to schedule a date. It's really fast and I love American Home Shield. It's great and it's one of the best services out there. Also, I've never encountered one contractor that was bad. So, whatever interview process they go through, these are good people. They called me to make the appointment, and they were running behind that day, which I certainly understand. I been a customer for over a year and was fine paying the $45 monthly fee. Called in a few times and they are quick to take my $75 service fee and schedule a week later. First time called for my dishwasher not working. Tech came out who was Russian and had to understand but opened it and dried off some parts and closed it back up. Got it to work and said I should be fine. A week later it was broken again. Called back and same guy came out. Ordered a gasket and 4 weeks later came out to install it. It's working but service was terrible. Basically paid $75 plus monthly fee for a gasket.
Next call was for my washer machine. Machine works but doesn't complete a full spin. Called up and was immediately charged $75 again and scheduled service visit. Another Russian came out who was even harder to understand and told me the pump was not draining correctly. He needed to submit work order to the office and they would let me know if it's covered. Got a call and was informed, due to overloading they would not cover the repair. How do you break a pump by overloading. Cancelled membership the same day. Total cost is not worth the coverage you get.
Oh No Jeff! I hate to hear that we've inconvenienced you as that is certainly not our goal. I will send you a private message via Consumer Affairs so that I can verify the property address of the issue posted.

I called because a problem with the air conditioning. I paid the 75 dollars co-payment. The company in charge of providing the service said that they could come to my home in 5 days; that was too long in a hot season. I needed to hire somebody to fix the problem and pay that by myself. I called AHS and cancel the service; no problem with it. They offered to reimburse the 75 dollars co-payment in 7-10 days. Now, 3 months and 4 phone calls later I haven't received the reimbursement. Called the company and every time I receive different information about the problem. Does anybody knows another better home insurance company?

If I could give this company a negative star I would. Don’t waste your monthly fee money or your service fee by calling in inexperienced techs they send out. Twice in a month we call in a problem they claim to service but when the techs show up they find reasons to not do the work. Latest example related to plumbing...before we called to report that our outside pipe burst and we have no water to the house nothing in the description had exclusions. The techs finally arrive (after several texts) they show up and call AHS to tell us it isn’t covered....they didn’t even try to identify the issue. Do not waste your money on this company that finds any way possible to take your money without fixing your issue. Best to put the money in an emergency fund every month.

My AC stop working so we contacted AHS. My first issue was it took 3 days before a technician came out to look at the unit. After a 5 minute diagnoses, the tech informed me there was no coolant in the system and I had a leak. He then spent 10 minutes trying to convince me to buy a whole new system (inside and out). After I told him no, he changed the diagnoses to a faulty compressor. Once the diagnoses was made, a report has to be submitted to AHS and it has to go through an approval process. Five days later, the claim is approved and the compressor gets ordered.
On day 13, a different tech shows up with the compressor and begins to install it. Immediately he notices multiple leaks inside the condenser unit. The tech then tells me, he can install the compressor and charge the unit with coolant at a cost of $1,000 to me but it will all leak out again. I made repeated attempts to contact the service company but the owner declined my calls after 1 ring. I called AHS and the rep could only tell me that nothing could be done until the service company filed the new claim. At this point I requested to speak with a supervisor. After being on hold for 20 minutes the rep came back and said no supervisor was available. I told her I would continue to hold. After another 30 minutes the rep returned and told me the same thing. I again told her I would hold.
After a total of 1 hour and 25 minutes on hold I finally get a supervisor on the phone. At this point all she can tell me is we have to be patient, it is the service company's fault and she didn't understand why I was so upset! I live in Texas where the average temperature has been around 100 degrees, I have been without A/C for 2 weeks, and because an incompetent service tech it will be another 2 weeks!!! My fiance is an extreme life long asthmatic and has had to have 2 nebulizing treatments to STAY ALIVE. They do not have anyone who speaks English as their first language, which is fine, unless you need them to understand the contract terms, laws in America and breach. They refused to provide technicians, told us to go find our own technicians promising they will get our air fixed or replaced. Sunday night, we set up a tech. Monday they said "call back tomorrow'. It was over 90 degrees outside. Tuesday we call, they say "call back later" after saying "please hold for 2-3 minutes" for an HOUR.
We called so many times...wasted hours, they said they want ANOTHER technician. We find another one and have them review it. Called HSA, they said "Call back tomorrow." We sweated, my feet are BURNING. It's so hot. Seriously. Hot. Every time we've called they just say the same thing "We are still reviewing, we want a different opinion." I BET YOU DO! Sucks when you have to actually do what you say you're going to do! We don't want our AC to be broken either, but that is the risk of the warranty business. Stay away from American Home Shield (AHS 1 800-776-4663): I had my entire house insured with SEARS (excellent company) for the past 3 yrs, well, about 2 months ago I got an e-mail from AHS giving me an offer of $100 off if I join them. BIG MISTAKE!!!! All these insurance companies after you join them always make you wait 30 days before the insurance starts. So I waited 30 days with AHS and then they charged my credit card on August 30th, 2019.
Let me also mention that I have the worry free plan from PSE&G. On September 14th, 2019 I noticed water underneath my water heater so I called PSE&G first. They determined that my water heater needed to be replaced. Soon after, I called AHS and placed the claim (I had to wait until Monday the 16th because they don’t work on weekends). I got a call from PHD Mechanical INC Monday morning and I was told that they will be at my house later during the day. The technician came (I was at work) and then left after about 20 min. I called PHD Mechanical to find out what was going to be done. But they told me that I had to call AHS. So I call AHS and they told me that I have to wait for the technician’s report (all this was at about 1 pm).
At about 430pm I called PHD mechanical again. They told me that the technician had already given his report to AHS. So, I called AHS. They told me that I had to call PHD mechanical. At this point I was getting very upset!!.. So I demanded the person from AHS to tell me what was happening and I had no reason to call PHD mechanical because my payments are done directly to AHS and not any other company.
Let me also mention that my credit card had also been charged $106 as part of my deductible… per claim. Well, the guy from AHS told me that I had to pay for the repair because the part that I needed was not covered by their warranty (I needed a PRESSURE REGULATOR). So I said “I pay your company to have insurance”. The guy from AHS told me that it would cost me $385 to get my water heater fixed and that I needed to contact PHD mechanical. (So 385+ 106 = $491 so far. A brand new unit at Home Depot is about $500). I demanded to speak with his manager….and mysteriously!!!! I got disconnected.
The next morning I get a call from PHD Mechanical telling me that my estimate was ready and that it would cost me $2,500 to replace the unit. I said, ”WHAT!!!!". Before I was ready to say something else, the lady from PHD Mechanical also said “oh, and AHS DENIED your claim”. At this point I was FURIOUS!!!! So I said to the lady from PHD mechanical that AHS had told me that all I needed was the PRESSURE REGULATOR. The lady from PHD Mechanical then told me that it was not true.
I then called AHS. And they told me that they were not going to replace it because it was a pre-existing condition and that the water under the water heater had rust. I said to the lady, ”I don’t know exactly what do you mean by preexisting because I just noticed the leak for the first time last Saturday. If it was leaking before I never saw it, also even if it was a preexisting problem, # 1 I would have not waited 2 months to put the claim and risking my basement from getting flooded. #2 this is the purpose of having the insurance if something happens. And as far as the water looking brownish because of the rust (I said to the lady), REALLY!!!! That is what happens when water is in contact with metal… for years. The lady from AHS all had to say and keep repeating was that it was a preexisting condition and that they will not pay or replace it. Again, stay AWAY from AMERICAN HOME SHIELD (1 800-776-4663).

Updated on 09/25/2019: Reviewed AHS and was sent a message regarding my review to contact them. Called went through the entire problem of having air conditioning repair tech sent out by ahs. While trying to fix my ac he broke off our outside water faucet. Called ahs and was told to call a plumber, pay for it, and ahs would reimburse us for the cost of the plumber. Followed ahs authorized customer support person and called a plumber, paid for it, sent in copy of payment to plumber and waited for reimbursement. Spoke to ahs about the hole in the side of our brick home left from plumber fixing pipe and was told a masonry contractor would be coming out to fix it and that it would be covered by ahs. Contractor never showed, reimbursement never came.
Called back in several times, getting several different stories but All of them basically said that even though we were told this would be covered that they were going to go against their word and refuse to reimburse us for the plumber or pay to repair outside of our home. So two and a half months later still have a home I’m my home. Called them back today at their request to try and get this resolved and was told that the notes show they aren’t going to cover it. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told to hold while the got someone and after being on hold for ten minutes was hung up on.
Original review: We contacted AHS to file claim to have our air conditioning repaired. They sent out a company in a timely (on July 1st) manner but while the tech was working on our unit he used an outside faucet to rinse off a part and broke off the faucet. We had to shut off the water to our home. We called AHS regarding this and we were instructed to call a plumber and have it repaired and then AHS would reimburse us for our out of pocket expense for the plumber. Plumber came out the next day, had to chip out several bricks on the outside of our home to repair the pipe that the tech had broken. He fixed it and we were able to turn back on our water. He was unable to repair the brick and said we would need to get a masonry person for that.
Called AHS to see about getting our reimbursement and were given an email address to send our bill to. Spoke to them about needing brick repaired and we were told that they would find us one in our area and that company would then call us to schedule a time to repair the hole in the outside of our home. We did not hear anything so after a week and a half I called AHS back regarding our reimbursement and masonry person. Was told our request was denied because the plumbing problem was not due to normal wear and tear. I said of course it wasn’t. The ac company they sent out broke it off. Was told that they would escalate this to a supervisor and the supervisor should contact us in a couple of days. No one called.
Called AHS back to check on it again and was told check had been mailed the day before and if we did not have it by the beginning of the next week to call back and let them know we had not received the check. Called back the next week when we did not recover the check. This person said that no check had been mailed because our claim was denied because it was not a covered repair. I stated I understood that under normal circumstances it wouldn’t be covered but it happened during a repair by one of those authorized repair companies and we were instructed that we would be reimbursed.
Was told that they would once again escalate our request to a supervisor and that we could expect a form on the mail in the next ten business days for us to send in another request for reimbursement from another dept. Called AHS on September 12th. Was told there was no record of us ever calling after we had requested air conditioning repairs. Explained the situation again and was basically told to give up because if one of their employees gave us incorrect information there was nothing else we could do. I am beyond frustrated.
Purchasing a home warranty from AHS has been the biggest waste of money and time. I would recommend to anyone shopping around for a home warranty to skip it if AHS is the one you are considering. I am going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau when I finish this review. I am going to call tomorrow and see if I can cancel our home warranty because I will never call them for another claim after this complete breach of our trust and good faith.
Good morning Jennifer,
I understand your frustration that has been expressed within the review. I hate to hear about the experience that has occurred and would be glad to speak with you to reach a resolution.

9/18/19 Review - On June 27, 2019 entered a request for my refrigerator to be repaired. I waited about three weeks before a technician from Wright Refrigeration (WR) came to investigate the problem and paid them $100 out of pocket. In 9 days, it will be three months without a working refrigerator (a basic necessity in every home). WR came out on 8/15/19 to do a second diagnosis and that's the last time action was taken. Spent countless hours calling to ask about the status of the repairs and got the same excuses every time. Three weeks ago, I was told by Ayo, an AHS supervisor, that Wright Refrigeration wants to purchase the parts themselves. Since then there has been no further updates. AHS has made no effort to purchase the part or to ensure they perform the repair in a timely manner. They choose to do nothing.
Ayo, said she would call me back within three days to let me know how they are going to get beyond the impasse, but she didn’t have the courtesy to call me back. She refused to give me a direct number where I could check with her directly. During the month of July, I called every day or every other day and two to three times for the first 3 weeks in August to get a status update. Every time I called, a different person picked up the phone and took 10-15 minutes to read the notes related to the refrigerator repair request. Each phone call took about one hour or more a total of 44 plus hours (mostly because the customer representative were not well trained and spent time repeating themselves). I work all day and must take the time out of my day to make these phone calls as they are not open when I get off work. It's unacceptable for AHS to ignore my service request. AHS has not followed through.
They do not hold themselves accountable and lack honesty. They have not honored the warranty I paid for. AHS has not acted to resolve and has not provided me with basic customer service. To date the repair part has not been ordered. This has been going on too long. Very poor service and a deplorable way to treat a paying customer. You can’t imagine how it feels to NOT have a refrigerator. I have been patient….my refrigerator must be repaired!!!!

I had a washing machine worked on and the tech that AHS sent out was great. A guy came here and diagnosed it, then he left. They had to order parts and it took a little bit to get it in. Then, he came in and fixed it, and it's been working like a champ. So far, I have AHS in this house for six months now but I've had them before with another house. I've had good experience with them and their service is better than the other companies. We're kind of in a rural area, so it's hard to get contractors around here but they know how to do a better job in that.
Still, they should improve their process because nobody likes to wait on anything. We had another washing machine next door that we could use, so it wasn't that big a deal. But as I understand, they had to order the parts then get it shipped to the contractors. And that they buy in bulk. But it seems like sometimes, the wait is a little long. And on this particular brand of washing machine, it was a backlog or backorder on the part which added to the issue of the wait.

We had a ceiling fan issue for about a month and a half or so. My husband submitted a claim to AHS by the phone and the contractor that they sent out dealt with it and did a great job. They followed through, discussed and gave rationality as to why things were happening as they were. We have six fans. At the end we said, since the tech was here, he could take a look at them and see whether we have any concerns but we didn’t. But one of the fan just wasn’t working at all. So, he had to take it and took some part out of it and replaced it.
There were two that the tech needed to give us information about. One of them, he couldn’t do anything about, particularly because it's interfering with somebody else’s remote control, that it comes on whenever it's ready and it goes off whenever it's ready. It is scary that all of a sudden, it's running. But the other one that I couldn’t get to come on was because of a user error and it as just a matter of operation. So far, we've been recommending AHS to other people.

We bought the house in July and when we moved in, we realized that there was water leaking by the water heater. It was replaced, but then the other parts sent rusty water and clogged the pipe which caused it to leak under the house. It made it to where water wouldn’t come through our shower in one bathroom, so my husband called American Home Shield to request for service and a very nice and professional tech came. I was impressed with the services, the way they worked. The tech made us aware of everything he was doing and got things done. He replaced the pipe under the house and everything is good again. My kids can shower in their own bathroom again, which is great. Our Realtor purchased the one-year warranty for us and we’re definitely going to renew since we are happy with what AHS provides.
Good afternoon Amy,

I was trying to do preparation for the hurricane, which was moving things off of my patio and into the garage. The garage door opener worked perfectly from the stationary button on the door in the garage but I have four remotes and none of them worked. They were all canceled out. As near as I could figure, it had to do with this lighting strike nearby which had happened weeks prior. When I would step over the electric eye to get in and out of the door, it worked fine too. But because of the storm coming and because of the inconvenience of not having the ability to open the door with the remote, I was trying to get this handled prior to the storm.
I was having issues with my computer that day and I thought I was just gonna go ahead and call American Home Shield. So I called on the phone. They found me in the system and set up the claim. They told me that someone would be calling me from the garage door company and setting up the time. That happened in less than an hour after the call to AHS. It was really fast. I expected the appointment would be several days later but they set up an appointment for the very next day.
Moe from Ace's Garage came out but prior to that, I had been on the phone with Genie, the company that owns the proprietary on the garage door. The person on the line had tried everything with me and decided maybe the issue was a circuit board in the opener itself so he wasn’t gonna try to do anything more. He said I had to have someone come and look at it. So I was expecting it was something fairly complicated but when Moe showed up, he climbed up on the ladder that I still had in place and it took him about a minute to do what he needed to do. He climbed back down the ladder, pushed remotes on all four and reset them, and it was good to go. He got the job done.
But the big benefit that I got out of having him here was with the numerous questions I had about my garage door opener. We have high humidity and hurricanes, and there are issues that come with it. So I was asking him about lubrication, how often I should do it and where I should do it. And he was wonderful. He answered all of my questions.
He made some other little adjustment for me and although I already knew where the door lock was that we would use in case of a hurricane, he went over that as well. I was thinking that the quality of my garage door was not so great but he explained that it’s a really high-quality door that withstands up to a category 6 so it’s a good door. That was really reassuring. And although he had an opportunity to upsell, he didn’t. That really says a lot about him and his company because he wasn’t sent here to try to generate more business for them, which I’ve had with vendors in the past. Moe was a really great guy and I would highly recommend Ace's Garage.
I've also already recommended American Home Shield. Our home was a brand-new construction so there was a builder’s warranty for a period of time. But enough time passed that I started looking at things, especially for the air conditioner because that’s always kinda the biggie. If that was gonna start having problems on me, I wanted to have some coverage on it. It’s also reassuring to have a company behind it in case I have a problem with the vendor.
The vendor has a relationship with the company so they would wanna make sure that the customer is happy. Whereas if I call someone on my own, I can complain to my neighbors but that wouldn't help me. If I've got the warranty company standing behind me deciding they need to get involved, the vendor risks losing future business if he doesn’t step up and do good. So I have a lot of confidence in warranty companies in terms of what they will do. I actually used to work for a home warranty company and at the time that I was doing it, AHS was getting started around that same time. They were more or less number one in the field and we were number two. So they’ve been number one all these years so they're who I would think of to do.

My dryer made awful sounds and I put my claim in with American Home Shield. I just went on the website on my phone and I filled that out. It was easy as pie and High Desert Appliances was quick to get out. They were fantastic and the nicest people I've ever met. They were super great. The part that took the longest was when the vendor had to submit the part numbers back to American Home Shield and the time it took to approve it. So, I was without a dryer for almost four weeks but American Home Shield has been super awesome. It has probably been the best choice I've made to have that. I just renewed my year and I have done two claims since I've had it, so it has paid itself back. It saved me probably thousands of dollars. So, I'm pretty happy with that.

American Home Shield's marketing was better than the others. I was gonna go with another company that's a little cheaper, but AHS looked better as far as what they said they guaranteed. Also, people have told me that they've had it. I had a washing machine that kept shutting off in the middle of the cycle. Also, I kept getting clogs. The service guy just elevated the hose. And since I work out of town, I haven't had the chance to go back in and make sure it was working.
I'm a little disappointed. I'm calling about a refrigerator as well. My refrigerator's wires got chewed up by my dogs. I was gonna fix it myself initially, but I was like, "If the appliance people came, they're gonna do something." But they said they don't cover that. The guy said that it's always the wear and tear. As far as how the contractors conduct themselves, they were really extremely professional and very knowledgeable. They're great. AHS is a great company, too, but from what I keep getting from the guys that have come so far, AHS is really likely to just repair things. I'm okay with that but on their advertising doesn't say that.

The contractor came out, looked at the AC, did the required examination and he said that we needed an electrician. He asked where the box was and I showed him where the box was that I knew. He said there was another box and he went around to the side of the house and that was where the box was located. He flipped it on, and then, the AC unit came on and went off. He did some more examination and then, he flipped it back off again and he went back to the box again. Then, he went back to the thing, and he did some more examination. He said it was our compressor and I asked him what would cause it to go out. I also asked if it would give some sign or warning and he said that sometimes, I wouldn’t get a warning.
The technician said we had to let American Home Shield know and he was saying some more people will come out and do what needed to be done. I asked him if he couldn’t do it that day and he said that was their procedure but he was gonna call AHS as well to kinda pick up the pace a little bit. On Monday morning, I called AHS and they said they had not gotten it yet. They said that they would call the contractor, but when they did, they had not opened. I said that I will also pursue them as well. The guy said that he would submit the paperwork on Saturday before the end of the day, and it was not done. It was finally submitted to AHS and I called them back because I kept pushing the issue and speeding it up. AHS called to let me know what it will cost because this wasn’t covered and if I accept. I told them I had no choice and I needed the AC.
The contractor called me and said that they would be out on a certain day, and that AHS had approved it. So, the technician came and put in the new compressor. He explained with his crew when I asked why they were doing things. After they put the new compressor in, he checked downstairs and the air was cold. The contractors were okay and maybe I kinda got on their nerves because I kept asking questions. I was standing there to make sure that the job was done. Even though I didn’t know what I was looking at, I pretended like I did. They did a good job and they put up with me asking questions.
After they came and everything was done, the next day, the AC ran good. Then, when I came home that night, the AC wasn’t cold anymore, so I had to call them the next morning. He said it would take a day and he asked me to send a picture of what light was on. So, I sent it to the secretary and he called the tech, who haven’t left yet, so he would have them swing by my house. I was on my way to work but would have my son wake up and be there waiting. My son said that when the guy walked through the door, he asked for a cup of water so, he gave it to him. The guy asked where the AC was located and went upstairs. When I got home and checked it, the light was off and the AC was running good. After that, I have not had any problems at all.
American Home Shield did what they were supposed to do and even though it took a little long, I understood that procedures, paperwork and approvals had to be done. At another point, I was saying that they just didn’t know how hot it was and they needed to experience it. Everything was done according to policy and procedure. My experience was one that I would not like to go through again with the compressor being out and that it gives no warning signs but as far as AHS and the contractor, everything was done excellently and expediently as they could do it.

The wiring on our AC had overheated and needed to be replaced. The air conditioning man came out on Thursday morning, and the electrical people came out late on that same day. But they said they couldn't make the repairs 'cause they needed confirmation from American home Shield to okay the repairs. But the AHS agent was looking for a second opinion on it. If I didn't get the upgraded wiring and was replaced with similar wires, it could have caused a fire hazard. The electrician told me that the type of wiring that I needed was expensive and that AHS were probably looking for something that was compatible or cheaper.
That Monday, I was back on the phone with Home Shield. I warned the agent that if something were to happen, it would come back to them because they looked for a cheaper way out. Then they said that they would look into it. AHS stepped up to the plate and they immediately called the electrician and told him to put in the proper wiring. Then the electrician called me and he said that they acquired the proper wiring and they would be here that same day and they acquired the proper wiring. They came and they installed it but once they finished, the unit wouldn't start. So they called in. They said that we might have a problem with the air conditioning unit and the diagnosis was that there was juice coming through.
The next day, which was on a Tuesday, the air conditioner man came in. He went upstairs and looked at the unit and he diagnosed that two of the wires needed to be reversed. He said that he didn't do electrical work and we would need to get those electricians back here to switch them. He also sent me a picture and I sent it to the electrical people and they were here in about 20 minutes. It was quick. They got the guy up there and he switched those wires, and the AC unit came back on. They were very good about answering the call when needed. I'm totally satisfied. I've been happy with American Home Shield and I have recommended them a few times to other people.

He diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed the problem. When the contractor opened up the AC, the contactor was full of ants. Supposedly, you get voltage that comes from inside the thermostat and it sends a signal out the contactor and it turns on the big power to turn everything on. Apparently, the contactor wasn't allowing the power to click over. The ants were stopping it. So, AHS ended up having to replace the contactor. I haven't had any further issues since then. Then the office called and let us know that the parts were ordered, that they should be in by this date, and he would be back out on this date. When he was here, he took my whole dryer completely apart and he didn’t know what was wrong with it. We told him that when we would turn the heat on, the heat would just go completely away within 10 minutes. He said that it was something that had to do with the timing then he came back and said that it was the heating element, and he replaced two of the heating elements. We had a couple of rentals and we called AHS recently. I had one that was in Gridley, California, and that was a really good plumbing call. And then, we had another one in Paradise, California, and we had asked for a leak detector. They sent a plumber out, he walked around looking at faucets, and we already could tell there was no leak in the faucet. And then, at the end of the call, he said, "Well, what you need is somebody who does leak detection." We thought that was what he was. We were not happy with that one. That home is in Paradise, California where almost the entire town burned down. Our house was standing but it was using a lot of water even before the fire. We had to get a private water tank up there and the water was very expensive at 10 cents a gallon. So, we wanna definitely get that leak detection done then. But we figured we'd have to wait 'til we got the city water back to really just do that.

This is my first year with American Home Shield and I did the claim online. After my first time when my heat was out during the winter, I have not messed messed with a phone call because I was on the phone for two hours multiple times. There was an issue with my account not being paid for when I bought the house and I called multiple times to verify that I had coverage, and the person who was the first line of phone call said that I had coverage. I did that three times and when I actually had an issue and called somebody out, they fixed the $70 issue where it was just a fuse. But I called them out a couple weeks later because the heat pump had stopped working and since it was a $1200 fix, American Home Shield said that they were not gonna cover it because I hadn't had coverage because they hadn't received payment. They said I was gonna have to pay this repair out of pocket, and I still had to send $600 for the AHS policy.
So, it’s been kind of a nightmare when it first started up because I’m a first time home buyer, and then, I was having all these issues with a brand-new unit that was less than two years old. Then, I was having the issue with the AC and my tenants had to stay out of the house for a week because it was 90 degrees inside the house. I understand that Tier 1 doesn't make that much money because they have a contract with AHS and they have to answer the call, so they pushed me to the last one in line. I get that side of it, but when I have to call them out six times in a row, I would expect to be pushed to the front of the line. Each time, they said it was fixed and it wasn’t. It would just be fixed for a couple of days.
I had pictures of my AC being set to 70, and it was 80 inside the house, and it was 75 outside the house. I also have pictures of the AC unit being completely iced over. They came out a couple times and the AC was working for that day. They said they couldn’t fix it. Everything on their side said it was working. When they came out, they would add pressure to it and say it was good. They would leave and it would work for a week and then, I would have to call them back out again. But this most recent time, it hasn’t stopped working the last month and a half. So, it seems like they fixed it. But if the contractor fixed it right the first time, I wouldn’t have intermittent AC unit issues in the hottest months of summer. It was kinda frustrating, especially since I had to take time off work just to sit while they were working on it.
I would tell my friends not to waste their time with a phone call and trying to talk to anybody higher up because they’ll be put on hold for an hour. I’m probably gonna renew with AHS. I enjoy the online experience, and I understand the process now. I am pleased with the online service but if you don't know better, you can feel like you just wasted your money when you're on the phone for two hours. Besides that, it’s great. Maybe if AHS has indications like flags that go up after two strikes on a claim, then they can make a personal phone call that would make people feel like they are valued and that their home warranty company is behind them.

I've made several claims with American Home Shield and I’ve been very happy. I always recommend them. Recently, one of the water spigots that are behind the washer had a leak. We have six people living here, so we wash clothes every day no matter what. Without fixing that, it would've been a mess. I put a claim for it online and navigating through the website was easy. Immediate Response Plumbing & Rooter Service was on time, and they were professional and courteous.

I requested a service ticket on a Thursday for an A/C repair in AZ in the summer. A tech came out the next day (happy with this!) however, part needed to be ordered. Was told it would be 3-4 days. When I called American Home Shield on Tuesday to follow up because I could not reach my tech (no answer, voice mail not set up) I was told the service company had 24-48 business hours to upload their diagnosis and service plan. This had not happened. I was asked to wait another 24 hours and give AHS the opportunity to reach out to the technician.
I called back 24 hours later and was told to give them more time as they have not heard from the tech either. I have no update as to if the part has even been ordered nor does AHS. I asked to speak with a supervisor to see if we could go another route as again I'm in Arizona in the summer with NO AIR. I have been on hold for 1:10 minutes with no resolution. This is unacceptable. Very poor service. I also notice only positive reviews are on the website.
Stephanie,
I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I will follow up with you in an effort to assist you with your unresolved matters regarding this request. Thanks for your patience.

Last year before it got cold had a ceiling fan fixed, they sprayed some kind of oil and was working temporary looks like it when summer came along try to turn on the fan stop working again so called them and said past 90 days and cannot do anything. I told them, "You guys should of replaced the fan not do a temporary fixed." I asked I wanted to talk to a manager and they didn't let me. We are paying $100 per visit and monthly fee. I'm not going to check the fan in the winter if it's not working especially when we don't need a fan in the winter! We believed the contractor that should work without any issues when I asked him questions what he was doing. The problem is either the contractor are being cheap or they hiring the cheap contractors.
Now they are saying that we have to spend another $100 to come out. I can go out get myself new ceiling fan for that price and be guaranteed that it will work! I rather get a new one than go through these guys to fix the fan. Today we are requesting the contractor to come out for the fridge that we got repaired in Aug. 2019. This is within 90 days. Looks like the first time the fix wasn't done properly. The fridge is not cooling. Will be asking tech questions on why wasn't done properly and will record him this time too. Hopefully they aren't using cheap parts because doesn't make sense when the original Whirlpool part be was working fine.
Good Morning Joseph,
I understand you were not happy with the outcome of your experience with AHS. May I have your full property address or contract number. I will work to see if there are any other options and follow up with you with an update. Thanks for your patience.

While my initial experience with American Home Shield was not ideal given the contractor didn’t show up at his scheduled time or ever call us back, I was pleased with the company’s swift follow-up and expressed desire to remedy the situation. In the end, American Home Shield helped cover some of the costs of our repairs which we certainly appreciated, even though we sourced the repairman ourselves. I’m glad American Home Shield stood by their commitment to us, even when their contractor fell short.

I feel I've wasted my $$ on this warranty program. We have a water heater that's gone out and it took over a week to schedule an appointment. I took a flight back from SF early so that I could arrive in time for an appointment with the American Home Shield coordinated contractor. The contractor never showed up! He never called nor did American Home Shield to let me know. Even worse, I called American Home Shield to set up another appointment and they told me they needed to find a new contractor and would call me back within an hour. They did not call back. They also said that once they found a new contractor, it would be starting from scratch again and could take another 7-14 days without our water heater working before we would even be seen for a first visit.
I called a local plumber on my own who responded immediately and came the same day. How is it that I as a consumer could find someone the same day and American Home Shield couldn't find someone for weeks, even though this is their 'specialty'? Seems to me the company could be intentionally delaying service to the point customers have no choice but to resolve their issue themselves, thereby avoiding any need to pay anything. I would strongly recommend against using American Home Shield. Save your money and energy.

I had (paid) a monthly premium to AHS for three straight years. Two years in I had a small leak and they responded without incident. Almost three years in my AC went out on, of course, a Saturday. I called AHS and was put on hold. This was July in Phoenix and happened to be the hottest day of year so far...110. After long holds and some disconnects, I was told they dispatched the call to a local AC company. After a couple hours of not hearing from them, I called AHS back and asked what was going on. They gave me the AC company’s info and I called them. Turned out they didn’t work weekends and couldn’t send anybody out. Really, nothing in the contract about no service on weekends. I called AHS back, and to make a long story a little shorter, after many more calls that night trying to get someone out, we finally had to go to a hotel and incur more costs. I was so frustrated I could burst!
On Monday morning I called them again and they were finally able to get someone out that cost me $700 for Freon because AHS only pays $10/lb and it cost $80/lb. The next day the AC wouldn’t cool so I called them back. After many more calls with AHS and not getting any help, I broke down and just bought a new unit. Fast forward two months later, I get an email from them saying they were fulfilling my service call! Seriously?? I called tonight to cancel. I was put on hold for 15 minutes until I was disconnected. I called back. Ultimately I was told that I have to pay them to cancel their over-priced, ridiculous service that I never received. What a dishonest company! My recommendation would be to not use this service and throw your money away like I did.
Tracy,
I am sorry that we were not able to offer a resolution that you were pleased with while the contract was active. I have never in my life had to work so hard to try and get service for something that I'm already paying for. For both my fridge (which took a year to resolve) and now my washing machine (going on two months with no resolution), I have been bounced from contractor to contractor with zero results. Every vendor I'm referred to takes weeks to schedule an appointment, weeks to order parts and then they're confused as to why the problem isn't fixed afterwards. Then when I check reviews for these contractors, they all have less than two star ratings. When I call AHS to complain, they tell me to wait and be patient. I've now spent two months doing my family's laundry in a laundromat because I've been waiting patiently. This is atrocious and AHS should be ashamed of themselves. Where is my monthly fee going?!

And that specific week, they installed the new one, and everything was working good. The contractor was great. My cousin have had them on her house and she was real satisfied with them and what they've done over the last year or two. American Home Shield was incredible. The American Home Shield website is pretty basic, but there's no way to explain situations or put multiple issues when you make an order online. For example, if I have an air conditioning claim and I have a problem with two separate air conditioners, I have to claim only one of them, and then call them and provider further information. We usually wait until there are multiple problems on a work order, and as it works with American Home Shield, whenever we have to make a claim online, we have to just submit one claim and then call them to add to the claim before the service provider comes.
The contractors' service is fine and we’ve not had many problems with it. Once we get to know a particular service provider, they're pretty good to us. One thing we don't like is getting reassigned to someone else when the company we work with is still an option. We don't have a whole lot of control over that, though. It would be nice if we could continue to work with the same vendor. Sometimes these vendors know our house better than we do. Also, we wish American Home Shield could cover different things without causing too much more. Overall, for what AHS is, it’s pretty good.

When I bought the house, American Home Shield was transferred over. I submitted a claim online and the process was a little confusing. There seemed to be a lack of consistency. When I put in for the appliance guy, the young lady asked me for my credit card number before the service, which was odd, but I gave it to her. So, I thought that took care of itself but I kept getting an email saying I owed $75. I took it upon myself to think that they would go ahead and bill me using the same credit card but they didn't. I knew how much I owed but I didn't know for which service. It could be a little clearer in that respect. I got a hold of everybody and I sent emails asking them to call me if needed. I went online and paid it with my credit card and nobody said that they messed up. So, all is well.
It took three days for the contractor to come out and when they were here, they installed some wiring inside the box incorrectly. The dryer was fine and it caused the dryer not to work. I had the appliance guy come and check it out, and it was working fine. So, whatever it was, it was electrical. The guy put in new wires in the breaker box and it has been fixed. The washer is working, and the outlet is working fine, so, it’s good.
I like the young man who came out for service. He took his time and explained everything. We both smelled something in the air and he helped me figure that out. It wasn't his job, but we just wanted to make sure that what we were smelling wasn't electrical. He was very professional and he did what he was supposed to do. He was good and I would definitely ask for him again. I'm saving up my little dollars for my renewal with AHS next year.

I’ve had issues with every single solitary call I’ve done to American Home Shield in the last six months. The contractors that they send out are not professional. They don’t show up and they take forever to call in whatever’s wrong. And it seems like American Home Shield is not covering like they used to. I've been with them for 15 or more years and it costs me money every time someone shows up, where it used to be where everything was covered. Now, it’s like nothing is covered. I had a water heater replaced and I had to pay $515 out-of-pocket. Also, I had a garbage disposal replaced and they came up with something that cost me $150 out-of-pocket.
I had a plumbing issue and they denied it. It took three different companies to come out to try and diagnose what the issue was. When they finally decided what it was, AHS told me it was covered. I wanted a second opinion, so they sent someone out. The second opinion was totally different than the first and the day that company scheduled to come out and fix it, they sent another guy who wasn’t even the guy who was supposed to fix it. He spent five minutes there and he came up with a completely different diagnosis on what was wrong, which was incorrect. AHS called me back and said the claim was denied after they had already approved it being fixed. I ended up having to get my own plumber to do the work and paid $300 or $400 and it was something that would have been covered. It was really frustrating.
Also, I’ve got all sorts of issues. I have a tenant right now that hasn’t had a washing machine in two weeks. We’re still waiting on parts. I had a tenant without an oven for a month because it took AHS so long to get someone out there and to diagnose. One time, a tenant took off work because a contractor was coming out but she said no one showed up. American Home Shield is doing horrible. I just had two warranties come up that I didn’t renew and as soon as the other ones come up, I’m not renewing them. I'm not recommending them anymore.
I hate to hear that the warranty is not providing satisfactory service. I've sent you an email as I would like to assist with any unresolved warranty concerns. My name is Stacy & I look forward to speaking with you.

And I said, "Well, I want more explanation," and she wouldn't. And I said, "Can I talk to your manager?" and she said, "Absolutely not," and then she hung up on me. And then another experience was pretty good. That fellow was right on top of it, helped me and gave me the number, and they followed up via email to make sure that the company called me to do the service.
And so far, all the contractors are great. We had a water leak from outside. We filed our claim with AHS and the repair was perfect. Also I got AHS when my AC broke. We didn't have any Freon so the contractor had to load up the Freon. Thank goodness because it was like 90 somewhat degree weather. The only thing I do have a problem with was when they had to replace our pool pump. They gave us like an off-market new one, to where even all my pool people don't even know. I’ve had two small claims with American Home Shield and I've been with them for just about two months. One claim was a simple issue that was resolved quickly. It ended up being more of a fact-finding thing. We had some arc-fault breakers that tripped a little bit easier than the old-school circuit breakers. I learned a little bit about that and how to make it not happen and that was also great.
The other claim was for when we had a backed-up basement floor drain. I did the claim via the online web fill form and that was pretty easy. It kinda just guides you right through it. Within 24 hours, I would hear from a contractor to arrange a time. For this claim, Alto Sewer Services was the contractor and they were out the same day. My interaction with them was really pleasant.
The younger gentleman who came was a really nice guy and was really professional. He knew exactly what he was doing. He had the tools ready and he didn't waste any time. He also didn't leave a mess. He cleaned up a little bit from what was on the ground so that was a pretty good experience. The backup was fixed and they cleared it up. I've had no issues since then. I drained a basement dehumidifier into it. It wasn’t getting a lot of water to begin with but that was not gonna back anything up unless there was a backup. There had been none.

But about three days later, we came into the house, and water was pouring down into the living room from the ceiling. So, we had to turn the air conditioning unit in the attic above our living room. We had a hurricane in the area and thank goodness, we didn’t leave before we found this, and that water would’ve come out for several days. And then all the repair guys were off for a week. So, at the end of that week, the repair guy came out again and he said he didn’t know what it was. It looked like it was still stopped up, and that he got it straightened out.
My wife and I weren’t satisfied with that. We were afraid if we didn’t know what it was, it’s likely to happen again. So, we went back and forth with American Home Shield and finally, they agreed to send me a service company that had installed the air conditioning unit in. They came out and spent about three hours. The tech was back and forth with his service manager, taking pictures, talking with him on the phone, checking the wiring, and they got it straightened out. He was a very nice guy. He did what he was trained to do.
We’ve got a water stained ceiling and some of the drywall came off. I talked with American Home Shield and asked who was responsible for it. They said it was the contractor. But the contractor said it was the responsibility of American Home Shield. So, I’m not sure what to do next. I had a painter come out and it’s gonna be between $600 and $800 to fix the ceiling. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been very good so far.

I've been with AHS for seven years and I’m very satisfied with the service so far. I submitted a claim online when the fan motor was making a lot of noise and it wasn’t working right. I filed the claim in the morning, and then they assigned me a person to do it. And so I called and I left a message and told them to call me. And the contractor called me back in about 30 minutes, and then he was there in a couple of hours. The work performed by the contractor was very good. They were very timely. Everything was good.

Our toilet was sewing up, and I had tried to plunge it a couple of times, and it wouldn't go down. Then it overflowed into the floor. So the guy from Waters Edge Plumbing came out and fixed it. Submitting the claim with American Home Shield was very easy. I did that one online. The website was easy to navigate. The contractor contacted us within 24 hours, but I ended up contacting them and they went ahead and got something scheduled. They were very professional. Everything seems to be fine. I was very satisfied. Our experience was very good.

I've been with American Home Shield for over a year. My sister got AHS and she said that they have good pricing. I had wonderful luck with Waterloo Road pump & Supply, but I was a little bit concerned about the heating and air company that American Home Shield called out. There was a noise in my air conditioning and something was happening. The company had been here the day before we were having a party and told me that nothing was wrong. Then Saturday came and our air conditioning went out.
I called AHS and they tried to get ahold of this heating and air company. They didn't answer their phone nor their emails because it was a weekend. The AHS rep kept saying that they couldn't call another company without a diagnosis. But that company already had a diagnosis and it was wrong. That is a bad rule. With heating and air claim and the temperature is up, it needs to be escalated. They need to up their standards for that and the heating and air company they use should and must work on the weekends. It could be detrimental.
I get it when people don't wanna work on a weekend, but we're talking about Oklahoma. Our house got up to 90 degrees and we had a party of 40 people that Saturday night and nobody was comfortable. Everybody was asking who we were using and why they couldn't get anybody on the weekend and I told them that it was American Home Shield. It's bad. But that heating and air company is good. The guy came out on Monday and it took him 15 minutes to fix it. I liked him a lot.

I called to schedule the appointment for a plumbing claim when the drain pipe where it connects to the bathroom sink was leaking. The problem is resolved now. The pipe is fine and not leaking. And in this particular case, the contractor was right on time, very courteous and professional. But the contractors are also usually very prompt. They tell us ahead of time what time they will arrive and are usually right there when that time arrives.

I thought that there was a problem with the sump pump and I submitted a claim with AHS online. I didn't call them because my problems generally happen at night and I figured that the lines would closed by then, so I just submitted my claim online. And right away, the next day, when I looked, AHS already had things going. So, I was very pleased with that.
They assigned Plumber Dave and Sons to come out and their tech was great. He didn’t treat me like I was a girl and he talked to me like I was a person. He explained everything when I had a question and was very nice. But in the end, the issue was on whatever the previous owners had put in to how to drain the sump. So, that was not covered by the warranty because it wasn't in the home. But they explained it to me very well and now, I’m working on getting the funds in order to pay for the repair. We also had AHS at our previous home on Perry Highway and we had them for a year. Then, when my son and I moved into this new home, we’ve had them since June. Since the beginning, they have been wonderful and I would recommend them.
Good afternoon Tina,

I've had American Home Shield for over a year. The first time that I filed for service, they sent out an appliance dealer. The service repair person told me that he would have to order the part through American Home Shield and that the part would take 5 to 7 days. I asked him if I had requested him to come to service it without American Home Shield how long it would take. He said he can have it done today. I am a family man with a large family. I cannot go a week without a washing machine. I only can imagine had it been an air conditioner going out on me in the heat of the summer and having to wait an entire week to get it repaired.
When I called the service department I was transferred to a phone service in the Philippines. After about 30 minutes I requested to speak with a manager. The manager's name was Vee. He told me that I needed to read my policy and that they would have to order the part and it would take five to seven days. I told her I read the policy at which point in time she said and no short terms of basically take it or leave it or cancel my policy. As soon as I got off the phone with Vee. I canceled my policy. The only time I was able to speak with a person from the United States was when I was solicited into getting a contract and when I canceled my contract. Otherwise they fought me in the Philippines. When I requested to speak with somebody in the United States they told me they were unable to comply with my wishes.
I do not believe that it should be called American Home Shield if you can't even talk to somebody in the Americas be it north or south. If you have no problem waiting for an extended period of time to get your parts fixed then by all means get American Home Shield. But if you want to get your part restored you're better off saving your money.

My AC stopped working on August 14th and I filed a claim with AHS. HVAC tech on 16th diagnosed the issue that the thermostat signal wire is broken (which is covered by the warranty). However, the tech transfer the work to electric trade. Electrician shows up on 20th and states that this is not HVAC issue and transfers back to HVAC. AHS assigns another HVAC company who shows up on 25th and diagnoses the same thing and tells me they will submit the work to AHS and once approved they will start the work. The HVAC company instead transfers the work to an electrician again. I call AHS and tell them that an electrician has already been there before and he already said it is a HVAC issue. AHS now tells me they will send another technician after two weeks of no AC in August.
I call the last HVAC company and asked why they transfer the job even after the tech told me they can do the job. HVAC company tells me that AHS didn't approve the job. At this point, I realized AHS is just finding excuses not to get the job done while I am out of AC for 2 weeks. I finally tell AHS that I will get my own HVAC person to repair the wiring but AHS refuses to pay an outsider vendor. I am realtor and have been using AHS for a while and been recommending AHS to my clients. Not only I am stopping recommending them, I am cancelling my policy as well.

I have been with American Home Shield for over 20 years and in general, have been satisfied. I am not satisfied today. I think that I have been fooled by American Home Shield. I pay American Home Shield $55 just for the privilege of being a member. That buys me nothing. Each time a repairman comes out for a repair, it's an automatic $125. Each time I make a claim for a repair, I am asked to check what needs the repair and asked the symptoms.
Yesterday, when my air conditioning started not cooling correctly, I made a claim for an air conditioning repair. There were no questions to answer. If there had been, there would have probably been a prompt that coolant was needed and hopefully at that time, I would have been advised that coolant is not covered by American Home Shield. I'm sure that little tidbit is somewhere in my contract, but it would have been so easy to give that information at the time. 2 pounds of coolant ended up taking 5 minutes of the repairman's time and a cost of $275 to me. I feel like I was ripped off by a company I have trusted for a long time. Shame on you American Home Shield. Just a brief message would have been nice.
Good morning Nan,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

I had an issue with the shower valve not working in the main bathroom. Within a day of starting a claim a plumber reached out to me about scheduling and explained the repair steps. He came out and reviewed what needed to be done and explained the steps. One of the steps he needed to take to access the plumbing was unfortunately to cut into the drywall behind the shower. I understood why this was necessary and and he went on to say that AHS would have someone come out to repair the wall afterwards. I reached out to AHS about the wall and after a few days they contacted me back to say they had no one in my area that could do drywall. As a result they offered me a cash option to find a local contractor myself to do it. So far all of the estimates for the repairs have been well above what I was offered to get it done. Not real happy about that.

I specifically told them my pool heater wasn't working and also my pool pump wasn't working. They sent a guy out to come check only the heater and did not check the pool pump. I called them back and told them what was going on and they told me I have to pay $75 twice for them to send someone out again. They made a mistake and want me to pay for it.
Also I checked my account and saw they charged my account twice for my monthly payment. I called them again and they said it was a mistake and they were going to refund my money back. Until today I still have not gotten my money back. This home warranty company (American Home Shield) makes a lot of mistakes!!! In just five days they've made mistakes and want me to pay for the mistake! This is crazy... After I get my money back I will cancel my contract! My HVAC unit was leaking so I contacted AHS. It took 2 days to get a technician to come out, and he arrived at 5p when my window was 12p-4p. The technician discovered there was a modification during installation and immediately told me that he didn't think the home warranty company would cover it. The modification was for the drain line - There wasn't room in the front due to the cabinet housing so they drilled a hole in the bottom and installed a copper pipe elbow that connected to the drain line. The technician didn't want to touch anything, and I was charged a $100 deductible for this visit. The technician submitted a diagnosis (still unknown to me) and estimated the repair at $350. Then began 2-3 days of numerous calls to AHS, fighting for the claim to be honored.
During this time, I was given the runaround, put on hold, disconnected, etc. I then received a call FROM AHS REP and he told me to call back on Monday (we spoke on Saturday) when my claim would be officially denied, and then submit an invoice from a vendor of my choice for "cash back" (though it wouldn't be for the full amount of the estimate). I contacted a recommended vendor who came out on Sunday and fixed the drain line that was blocked with rust and dirt. He made sure both ends of the line were cleared and recommended I get it serviced once a year. He also mentioned that he sees these kinds of modifications all the time; it's not unusual at all. TOTAL COST $120.
I then contacted AHS to submit my invoice for "cash back" (how would I even know that term unless someone at AHS told me?). However, no one could find any record of that and, therefore, I was denied even that option. The modification to the HVAC unit was done in 2013 and I bought the house in late 2017, which PASSED INSPECTION. How would I know there was a modification? Perhaps all of my appliances were not installed properly? This did not happen under my watch. I did not install anything, nor did I have anything modified. The fact that AHS would not honor the claim and, more importantly, the offer made to "cash out" toward the service I had done. What a racket.
Susan,
I apologize that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. There was a private message sent to you regarding your status. Thanks for your time.

The absolute worst company I have ever had to deal with in my entire life. My duct work was shot, and I put in a service call. I was amazed at the prompt response and had an appointment set up within 48 hours of the initial call. This was about the only positive. The company they sent out, came and told us "it is normal for duct work to be saturated. Your problem is a plumbing leak." My husband and I knew better so we called another company to come out for a second opinion. Our own second opinion wasn't under the house for more than 5 minutes and came out saying we have a major problem and need to have our duct work replaced immediately. I called AHS with my concern, they said that they would have to wait for the plumbing to be checked as that was the issue addressed in the first report. Understandable. This is where the scam comes to light.
The plumbing guy came to our house, crawled under the house checked all of our plumbing and said it was perfect. Our issue was clearly duct work. His words "I'm not even an HVAC professional and I can tell you your duct work shouldn't look like that." He wrote in his report about duct work was so saturated in areas that it was causing floor rot that wasn't even near plumbing.
AHS put in a second opinion for my work order to send out the same company that came to my house the first time. The same company that said my duct work was fine! I called upset and asked for it to be changed as I believed I deserved a second opinion from a different company. The line got disconnected. I promptly called back only to find out that my second opinion had been cancelled all together. In this phone call I was even told I wasn't allowed another second opinion. After nearly an hour of back and forth I was told that they would try to set up another contractor for a second opinion, but he didn't know how long it would take.
I called back that evening to find out that my second opinion had been cancelled AGAIN. I asked why and she told me repeatedly that she didn't know and didn't have access to that information. I repeatedly asked to speak to someone above her, but got threatened to have my work order cancelled completely. After arguing back and forth she told me that she would request a second opinion again. Again was told since I refused to use the first HVAC company that came to my house I would have to wait on dispatch to find another contractor, and that she didn't know how long that would take.
I checked my email this morning to find out that the first company had yet again been assigned to my service request. I promptly cancelled and have written this company off. I am amazed at the rudeness of customer service, and the run around this company has given me. In my opinion I do not want anyone associated with this company anywhere near my house anyways. This company is a complete scam and I will be reporting to the BBB.

My washer claim with American Home Shield was fine, and the contractor who did it was really good. However, my dishwasher claim was a nightmare. I liked the new thing with the computer, but it doesn't seem to work. With the technology in there, and if they had all the information and could see it, why wasn't the claim showing up on my end? So I still had to call the call center. I got someone who spoke very bad English -- I'm hearing-impaired and it was hard to have a conversation with them. The contractor never called in 24 hours, so I had to call them.
The Dan Allan guy who did my dishwasher should not be an approved contractor. In the first time, he did not have tools, so my husband had to give him tools. He also did not have any official vehicle. He just popped up the trunk of an old Mercury. That was Memorial Day, and I didn't get it done until the third week in July. So he left and came back with a part. But, he ordered the wrong part, left the part on my front porch, then he needed to return. And he called me asking if he left some parts here. He then got the right part allegedly, came back, and left a paint tray underneath the dishwasher. My college kid called me freaking out that he left the water on and it was flooding all over the kitchen. We called him back to turn it off again.
He came a third time with the right part, but it still did not work. So that was when they deemed it non-repairable and I got a new one. I was like, "Do not send that man to come in and install." Also, it took me six calls to get to speak to a supervisor and it took that long for them to refund me $50. If I wasn't disabled and don't have the ability to worry about fixing things and taking care of things, I wouldn't have this concern. But customer service is terrible, the communication's horrible. The two people that installed it were, on the other hand, phenomenal.

The previous homeowner didn't get in the attic and the inspector missed it. Also, the person that came in to service the AC before I closed didn't do anything. Then, they went away for a couple of days and came back and fixed it. They replaced a major component and it was very timely for what it was. Since the repair, the AC has been good and my house is cold.
We bought the house and AHS came with it. We’ve been with them for one year and I had the opportunity to renew it, but we didn’t because of the cost. We just didn’t need the warranty. My refrigerator went out, and I called AHS. The lady at the office was absolutely amazing, on top of it, calling, following up and checking. The vendor came out the first time, diagnosed it, ordered the part and then a different guy came back and installed that. It did break down again, so it wasn't that part. In any event, the lady in the office had a backup. It's almost like they just knew. "Hey, if it's not this part, it's gonna be this one." And it was a one, two, three.
Granted, it took a little while because they had to order parts. But the professionalism and how on top of it the technician and the lady were was mind-blowing. I called and the lady knew my name right away. "Hi, Tia. How are you?" And it's little things like that. "Yeah. We already backordered that just in case something did happen." So, very informative. Great kudos for the vendor.
The customer service aspect of the home warranty would have been completely lost had it not gotten such a great vendor that really kept me informed and just was there for me. Luckily, I did luck out that I never got a call, no follow-up, just not explaining to me what the process will be or the procedure, especially considering it was my first time having a repair needed. I just felt like, "Okay, I called. So what happens next?" I had very little communication with the warranty side itself.
I called in twice, the first initial part of the claim, and then when I had to call back to follow up, was it approved or whatnot. It would've been better if the warranty side was the one holding my hand through it, walking me through. And there was a such language barrier on the two times that I called. The second time I called, I wanted to know, "Hey, am I covered?" Which really, that could be the warranty calling me, saying "Hey, by the way, we are covering this," or, "We're not covering this." But I had to make that initial call, and when I did, I couldn't understand.
I'm sure calls are recorded and maybe that's something that they can learn or train. But when the gentleman felt confident with what he was saying, he was talking fast. But because he had such an accent, there was a language barrier. And I felt like I had to say, "I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" And some of the things that he would say, it was almost like he was reading from a script. It was like the empathy stage is, "I'm sorry you feel this way." But you don't say stuff like that. You think that, use it in your tone, but you don't say it. Nevertheless, I love my warranty company. I've been with AHS for about a year. But my husband had had other properties with this home warranty coverage as well, that's why we stuck with them on this property.

We had an appliance claim where Mr. Appliance of Memphis came out, and everything was good. They were on time and they put something on their feet so they didn't just step on my floors. They were generally just professional. I put in my claims with American Home Shield by phone and they are timely to get someone out to my house when I needed something.

The bathroom sinks were not draining, and I called it in and spoke with a person. The plumber who came out was perfect. He texted his location when he was on his way so that we could see how far away he was, because I had someone going to the house to meet him. My son had a dead battery, and he was kind enough to jump my son's car when he was finished. It took him about five minutes, but he didn't have to do that. He told my son exactly what to do in case the problem happened again so that he wouldn't have to have another service call because it was a minor repair. I can't say enough nice things about him. I've had other claims though, one where I wasn't necessarily fond of American Home Shield's choice, but they took care of it. I wasn't happy about the choice of the person they had coming out to do the service, so they changed it. It did delay the service for another week, but it wasn't a life or death thing so it was fine.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for about six weeks and the process for submitting the claim has been very good. I called and talked to somebody, and they were very nice as well as the technician. He came out and put the wrong thermostat on so, he switched it out and put the right one on. He just made a mistake the first time and now, it’s working fine.

I like the services of AHS and when the motor of the swimming pool went bad, I called American Home Shield to file a claim. The contractor, James Blandford Pool Service, came out two days later and it wasn’t the first time he has been out to my house. I explained the details of what happened and he asked me to take a picture of the motor. He said the motor was shot, so he had to change them out. He did good work.
When we purchased the house, it came with American Home Shield. We’re coming up on our renewal with them so, I called in to get a quote before the expiration date. It was a foreign company who answered their phone. I was trying to get a quote for a new home warranty, and it came back really high. The premium had gone up way too much. Other than that, everything else has warranties on but they quoted me 700 and change. So, I had to let go at that point and I ended up going with Choice Warranty.

I had a clog in the washing machine drain and the technician came out and was able to fix it that same day. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was very easy. I called up and requested for a service. Unfortunately, it was a holiday weekend and it took until the following Monday afternoon that their contractor could come out and fix it. They said that everyone was booked. It would be nice though to have somebody come out within 24 hours. Nonetheless, the person that came out was perfectly fine. He came in, asked me where the problem was, he went and started to do his work. He showed me what was wrong, what had been the issue and what clogged the washing machine, and he cleaned up after himself. The washing machine is perfect now. The tech solved the issue and it definitely saved the day. I have a teenage son and if I can't do laundry, it's a problem.

The previous warranty I had took a month to fix problems. I was not happy with it so I canceled the service. I called my mother and she recommended AHS. And we’re in Wisconsin, so it’s across the country. So far, I've had them for two years now. When we had an issue with our garbage disposal, I filed an online claim. It was convenient because I got to put a claim at night. Since I got school, the contractor had to work with my schedule. He came in, looked at the garbage disposal and said it was jammed. He showed us something and he fixed it right away. It was very, very quick. The whole thing didn’t take two minutes. He didn’t even use a tool and it now works perfectly. My only issue is the $100 claim fee. It is too much. If I hired a private contractor, it will be less than half. So, it shouldn’t be that high.

I’ve had numerous AC claims with American Home Shield. The air conditioner apparently wasn't installed correctly. It had no drain flush line going inside. So, it had been overflowing, and it ruined part of the floor in my family room. It has been constantly plugging up and overflowing. Every time we’ve called in a claim with American Home Shield, because it’s been overflowing, all they did was come out and flush it out. All they did was fix the current problem. They did not fix the problem. There’s no way to flush it from the inside, or putting bleach down the drain line like normal people do. And it continually keeps stopping up.
We've been with American Home Shield for at least 10 years. They’ve always done us right. It’s kinda ridiculous because the contractors that have been coming to our air conditioners have been coming from Tallahassee, which is two and a half hours away, versus a local vendor. And I don't understand that. What impressed me is I recently had a clothes dryer claim. The vendors came out, they looked at it, called Home Shield, said it needs to be replaced, and they immediately replaced it. But as far as this air conditioner, it’s been going on for months now. They need to tweak the vendors there to where they recommend more than just put a Band-Aid on it and wait for it to break again. They could’ve recommended the drain line be put in properly. The problem keeps reoccurring, so they keep coming back. I take that as the vendor just wanting to keep the business.

Since he came out, everything has been operating fine.
I've been with American Home Shield for a while and I've had a good experience. But they went up on my thing. I had too many things fixed and I didn't know you couldn't do so many a year. My stuff broke before and American Home Shield sent out guys who came and fixed it. Every time somebody came out and they fixed something, I would call them back if it leaked again. I thought the warranty was there to be used. I was paying $50 before but now, I'm paying &100 a month.

The capacitor died on our AC. We went through the online form of AHS to file a claim and they were pretty efficient. Within less than 24 hours, we received the call and communication about our claim. They sent out a man who works for Myers Air Conditioning Service in Montgomery. He was very nice and he diagnosed it quickly. It was pretty obvious because it was an external piece of the unit and it was dead. It's an older unit, so it was a piece on it that had really deteriorated. He was very knowledgeable and efficient, too. He was also a good salesman, but not pushy, and just kinda letting us know that the unit was ancient and was gonna be needing to be replaced, at some point in the near future, which we'll consider later. But he gave us a quote on that and left it with us so that we could know how much that would entail. That was informative.
Other than that, we were with AHS the first year that we had the house, then we started it back up in May because we realized that we had some older devices that we needed to protect a little bit better. We went back with AHS because of the name recognition. We already knew them and we did not think to do any research for any other company.
We also made a claim with them before and we had a hilarious experience. We thought that there was water coming out of the ground because it seemed to be seeping out of the tile or concrete, and what it really was was actually peanut oil that had dripped down from an above shelf down the wall, but you couldn’t see it on the wall. It had dripped down down the wall so stealthily and went down behind the baseboard that it looked like the oil was coming up through the grout. Our dogs were licking it and we thought they were licking water. Long story short, we were about to jackhammer up the tile because we thought there was a broken pipe underneath but a plumber came out through the American Home Shield claim and he figured out that it was just peanut oil. Thank God he figured it out about five minutes before he was about to call a sonic guy who was gonna do a sonic thing on our floor to see where the leak was.

American Home Shield has been very accessible and they haven’t given me a lot of rudeness or displeasure. Some of the things that I find disturbing is that there’s a lot of noise in the background when I'm trying to talk to one of their team members. I hear people talking, and then they’re trying to hear me and they miss hearing what I said. That is a little aggravating because some of these people that’s on the phone are foreign, I assume. Their accents are very questionable and they have a hard time understanding what I’m requesting. So, I have to keep repeating myself several times and it is a little frustrating on that end. The second thing is that the person that’s taking the call are interrupted with people around them. But that’s just my interaction. Still, I don’t like it. That isn’t pleasing in a sense because it’s frustrating when you’re already frustrated about other issues.
Today, I would be calling in again for our most recent claim. It's a plumbing issue where Bailey Plumbing came out. The company itself was fine and I had no problem with the guy's professionalism, but it’s just the work that actually got taken care of that is questionable. We finally used our garbage disposal from the original reason of us calling about the water shooting through one of the tunnels of the sink and it was overflowing. My wife used it on Wednesday, and all the water, the way the contractor located and fixed, exploded out. So, I have tons of water on the floor from Wednesday which just dried up yesterday. I need to have the contractor come back out and look at that situation. I’ve been with American Home Shield for about 10 years or more and while I had some displeasure with them, I haven’t had any problems.

We are new to AHS and our AC went out. I filed a service request very easily and within minutes we were notified that a company would call us to schedule an appointment within 24 hours. We ended up calling them to schedule when they didn't call. They were out in a few days and told us we needed a new ac unit. My husband had to call the AHS to get an update on the request and one had not been turned in, so they contacted the repair company for the repair estimate. We then received an email in the next day or 2 with a bill showing what AHS wouldn't cover which was $1640.00. Some of these charges were overpriced and some not completed as my husband was home and was watching them and I will add has worked around HVAC in his former job. We contacted the repair company to ask about these charges and they had quick answers for everything.
I checked reviews, wish I had done that first, and I found the same complaints from multiple other people. We are on a fixed income and had to borrow this money to pay them and feeling a bit defeated at the moment. I do not understand why this company is still being used in my area with all of the similar complaints. They will not be welcome to come back to my home should I decide to keep this warranty.
Good Morning Vickie,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

Large block of ice back again. He performed the same thing. Heated, cleared the line. Said it was fine. b. He said he had to order parts – some controller thing and hinge for the door. He would be back.
4. 8/__/19 Third visit from Appliance Magic – a. Installed the controller. Then said it wasn’t the controller. b. Replaced hinge on refrigerator door. Made the issue WORSE. Now the door swings open all the way with a bang. c. I Contacted AHS, who contacted Appliance magic, who said they couldn’t fix it, needed second opinion. 5. AHS said they would submit a request for another opinion. We were assigned All City Appliance. 6. Not contacted by All City, so I called them to schedule.
7. 8/29/19 First visit from All City Appliance. Their tech Mohammad, did the same thing. Came in and unfroze the big block of ice. Did nothing with the door. Said we had the refrigerator/freezer on the wrong settings and TURNED IT DOWN, colder. 8. Called All City the next day and asked they didn’t fix the other problems (door and its freezing too cold). They scheduled another appointment for 9/4/19.
9. 9/4/14 Tech never showed. He called me at 5:30 pm and said he was an hour or so away and would be at my house at 7:30 pm (my contract explicitly states that work should be performed within normal working hours). I asked why he hadn’t done all three items on the list. He said it was my husband’s fault, he didn’t tell him there was anything but the block of ice. I said, but it was on the order that AHS sent you. I explicitly told them all three items. He again said it was my fault, or my husbands fault and started arguing with me. I told him no, he could no come at 7:30 at night. He said, ok, he would be there between 8 and 9 the following morning.
10. 9/5/19 Tech never showed. Called his company and told them we were waiting on the tech, they said they had no information on him coming on 9/5. She told me to hold, called him and came back and said there was no answer. 11. 9/5/19 I called the tech (from caller ID night before). He answered and I asked why he wasn’t there. He said “I don’t actually work for them anymore, but I’m coming to fix the refrigerator anyway.” I asked why he would come to my house if he didn’t work there. He said he started the job so had to finish it. I said, "No, I don’t think so, if you don’t work for them, then your former company is no longer liable if you break something or mess up my house or any other issue, like security" – what if he came in and robbed me? I told him I would call All City back.
12. 9/5/19 Called All City back. Told the receptionist that I had reached him and relayed the above conversation. I asked her about him not working for All City anymore. She said she didn’t know anything about it. I asked her who was in charge? “Ryan is the owner.” I asked, "Can I have his number," which she gave me. 13. 9/5/19 Called Ryan. Relayed all of the above information. Told him the refrigerator still isn’t fixed, and Mohammad said he is coming to my house to fix it even though he doesn’t work for you?? What does that mean?? Ryan said, “I don’t know if he works for me, but he can fix it.” I said, "Wait a minute, if he doesn’t work for you, he is no longer insured by your company. Ryan said, “Yes, it's fine, we are still liable.” At that point, I said, "No – I’ll call AHS." To which Ryan answered, “Wait, I can send another tech.” I said I was calling AHS.
14. SECURITY CONCERNS: I called AHS and reported ALL of the above to them. Including my SECURITY CONCERNS. AHS tried to call All City and get a response. I was told that All City would have to come out and still do the repair. Even with my concerns, AHS insisted that All City would have to return. AHS did get hold of All City and was told that the manager (Ryan) would call me back within an hour. So I finally said, ok. 15. 9/5/19 – no call from Ryan. 16. 9/6/19 – no call from Ryan or anyone at All City. 17. 9/9/19 Called AHS AGAIN – told them I never heard from anyone at All City. What now? They called All City and set the appointment. I asked AHS to ensure that whoever showed up at my home was employed by the company.
18. 9/9/19 All City dispatch called me to set up appt. Set for 9/11/19 between 9-1. I asked her "Who is coming?" She responded, "Ryan." 19. 9/11/19 Second visit from All City – Ryan arrived. He came in, looked at the refrigerator. Did nothing to it. Told my husband he would have to call Kenmore. Gave no indication how long this process would take. 20. 9/12/19 I called All City asking what the status was. Dispatch had no information. She said she would have to contact Ryan when I said he told us he would call Kenmore. I asked her how long the process takes? Day? 2 days? A week? 2 weeks? She said she couldn’t tell me anything, they had no timeline. No one called me back.
21. 9/13/19 My husband called All City Dispatch. He was told basically the same thing as indicated on 9/12. Except he was told that Ryan “had not even called Kenmore yet” When he did, Ryan said “KENMORE WOULD HAVE TO COME TO MY HOUSE”. But they had no timeline, no idea when that would happen.22. OK, DOES ANYBODY ELSE THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS YET????
23. 9/13/19 –sigh- called AHS again. Relayed the information provided from All City. I asked “Is it normal for them to send someone from another company?” AHS said no. The contractor is responsible for fixing the item. I said, but they’re not. And they won’t tell us when it might be fixed. AHS tried to call All City. Got the dispatcher and was told the same thing they told my husband. She then tried to call Ryan who did not answer his phone.
24. 9/13/19 AHS’s conclusion was that they have to have a response from All City – who will not respond before they can proceed. They cannot assign anyone else OR pay out the refrigerator that cannot be fixed until the people that won’t respond do respond. I said I want this escalated. AHS said they would send the report to Contractor Relations. I asked if I could talk to them. “No”. We will file it. She tried to call All City’s Ryan again. Still no response. She also said if they could not get a response from Ryan, that AHS would need to send out another contractor, a THIRD contractor for a second opinion. 25. 9/13/19 CLEARLY ALL CITY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM IF THEY SAID SOMEONE FROM KENMORE HAD TO COME OUT. And who would pay for Kenmore???
26. 9/13/19 Looked all over AHS’s website for a “contact” email. On your contact page you have a phone number and submit request. The only emails listed are a “security” and “privacy” email. I’m sending to both. 27. CONTINUATION – 28. 9/16/19 Called All City Appliance 3 times. No answer. 29. 9/16/19 Called AHS, spoke with Jeff. Was told that “CONTRACTOR RELATIONS” has received the request. They will contact All City Appliance (WITHIN 24 hours). Then All City Appliance will reach out to me for an “update”?? This makes no sense.
QUESTIONS:1. WHY do I have 3 work orders for the same job?
2. WHY does it say “Completed” when it clearly is not?
3. HOW MANY weeks (we are at 7 now) does it take to do your job?
4. IS AHS GOING TO SPEND THE ENTIRE ALLOTTED AMOUNT for my refrigerator (per the contract) and THEN say, ok we’ll replace it, but, by the way there’s nothing left we can pay out to you? A question I have raised repeatedly. How many times are you going to try and fix it? The “canned” answer is we’re waiting on the report from the contractor.

I am very disappointed in this company’s practices. I have used them for several years and for the most part the service received has been at a B level. The appliances have been fixed but not without several trips and multiple companies. Most recently over this past year I have had service on my pool pool and problems still occur. Last week was my third service call and when I spoke with the Raya in the service department she assured me I would not have to pay another service fee and my request would be linked to the most recent service order. Well I have been billed my service fee and I reached out to get resolution.
I spoke this time with Jeff and was told there is no record of Raya waiving the fee but did show the service order number I was given. When asked to speak to a supervisor I was told one was not available. Jeff did say this issue would go to the escalation department and I would have to wait 48 hours. I suggested they listen to the recorded call with Raya. I have had three service calls this year and been charged three times on this same piece of equipment trying to have it fixed. Hopefully the billing department will get this straight and honor their original commitment to me.
Audrey,
I understand you were not happy with the additional service fee you were billed to resolve your pool malfunction. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.
