We had an issue with our refrigerator and it took a while for a part but that's just how shipping is in the era of COVID. We waited for about five days but once the technician had the part in, he had it fixed in under a half-hour. It's been a good experience thus far with American Home Shield. Prior to having them, I know how long it took to wait for a repair person for various issues and I've never had any delays with the people that American Home Shield sends out that were as long or longer than what I'm used to in the past. So, I’d recommend them.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

Our air conditioner wasn't blowing cold air through the house and it was when it was a little bit warmer. We filed the claim and a guy came out one month ago. He was awesome and he had great customer service skills and technical ability. He got everything working and it worked for about a week and a half. Then, it went back to doing the same thing. He said he replaced the capacitor, the fan and one other thing. So, knowing that all of those things were replaced, I figured some minor erroneous thing went wrong. So, I called American Home Shield again and submitted a follow-up ticket. They sent a different guy out who said that a fuse had blown or the capacitor had come unplugged. It was quick to take care of and get it figured out. So far, it's been great. It has gotten a little cooler so we haven't really been using our air conditioner at all. But we've used it a little bit and it worked perfectly fine. So, no complaints at all.
We’re happy with the experience and I'd recommend the contractor that AHS used to anybody. They were great, personable, knowledgeable and great guys to chat with. They did a great job too. It was just happenstance that it required two outings. It was an overall positive experience. American Home Shield specifically was great about communicating and getting the contractors out to our house and all of our information to them in an extremely timely manner, and it was all that we could ask.

We had a plumbing emergency and Brick Street came out right away. They replaced the piece and fixed it. They were great. But when we had a problem with our fridge all summer, American Home Shield kept trying to get people to come out to fix it but they couldn't. We ended up getting a new fridge and they couldn't help us. They said they were more in the business of repairing and not replacing, but it was obvious that they couldn't fix it. We understood. But it was frustrating because we lost our air conditioning too. It was like everything kind of went out at the same time.

The wash wouldn't cycle. It started up but then it clicked and just stopped. OKC Appliance King came out and the tech replaced a part but it didn't get any power so he said he had ordered another part. We've not had a washer for going on three weeks now. It's kinda hard. Other than that, Home Shield takes care of me. When I have a problem, I call and they send someone out.
Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I did a claim for a rubber seal around the dishwasher. The contractor was friendly, polite and professional. The other claim was a refrigerator and the contractor came out 16 times to fix a part. I probably saw four of their technicians. They were always polite and professional but I don't think that they really knew what it was that they were doing. It lasted for about seven months and I didn't have refrigeration. They kept putting in a new part and putting in another new part. I even tried calling American Home Shield and said, "It’s basically a brand new refrigerator and it's still not working. I’m a customer. You need to help me ‘cause I’ve been out of a refrigerator now for six months.” But they didn't wanna do anything about it. When the person finally came in and fixed the actual electronic aspect of it, we closed out the claim.
But then, we noticed that it was starting to leak into our freezer. It would be fine then it would be leaking and refreezing. We were getting blocks of ice on the bottom of the freezer so we had to call American Home Shield again. We had to make another claim and they gave us a different appliance repair person and he fixed the problem. It was a clogged drain and we haven't had problems ever since. The freezer is fine now after 17 times of somebody coming out.
The other thing with American Home Shield is that to even speak to anybody, I was on the phone for two hours on hold. I even called up somebody to see if they could get any feedback or help me with the issue. They attempted to call also and because they could not get ahold of American Home Shield, they closed out the claim and said there was nothing that they could do about it. I'm not satisfied with American Home Shield at all. I'm not gonna get them next year.
Good Morning Casey,

I've had American Home Shield for 10 years. Every time I put a claim in, they usually have somebody out right away or at least contact me to schedule. I have a plan where I just pay the $75 fee and everything else is covered so I have no issue with that. I did an AC claim the last couple weeks ago. It's been repaired and it's working now. The most recent claim was for the dishwasher. I did it online and I just put in what item I was having issue with and the brand it was. They contacted me shortly thereafter and found a company to come do the work. I had to push back them coming out to next week because I'm not able to leave work this week.

My recent claim with AHS was for my personal property and it went really well. When I first called, it was gonna be another week to get an appointment 'cause it's crazy right now. But, I called my rep because I wanted to talk to a person to try to expedite it and she made it happen. The guy who came out was excellent. First off, he came right away. He was on time, which I loved and he needed to get a part. Parts are really hard to get right now but he worked really hard to get the part. It was just cool. He was in our house taking everything out as there are places that you can never get to unless all the shelves are out. I just loved that. He was a great guy.
I'm a Realtor. So when there's a home warranty to be ordered, I always order them from American Home Shield. They are really good. It's super easy to submit a claim. You can do it either online or you can call. I have other properties personally that I also have warranties with them on. There had been an air conditioning that had gone out and they had been all over it. AHS has done quite a bit.

I like the price of American Home Shield and the ease of using the website. When I filed my first claim, the technician had to come out three times to fix the water heater. The pilot light on it kept going out. But he was very friendly.

It’s very easy to submit claims and have somebody come through with American Home Shield. However, they need to be careful about some of the people that they use. I used them before for my dishwasher, and I didn’t like the guy's service because he would tell me he fixed it, and then the same problem is still occurring. When I put the claim in for the electricity, I also did it for my ceiling fan downstairs. The guy who did it took all the stuff down and just left the wire hanging out. He wanted me to buy the metal part in the plastic that was in there.
American Home Shield called me a couple of days ago saying that it was a part that wasn’t covered. But the guy knew that that part wasn’t covered. I don’t know why he couldn’t use the same one that was there and I don’t know how heavy is the one that he’s putting in the room. This is a brand new fan that he needed to put up. I think he's taking advantage of American Home Shield. I haven’t heard from him. They called me a day before yesterday about him coming back and replacing the ceiling fan and so I’m just waiting. Recently, my AC had gotten clogged and started leaking on my ceiling. Right Tech Heating & Air came out, but I had fixed the problem myself and unclogged it. They came over and made sure that everything was still flowing right.

I had some problem with my oven and American Home Shield sent someone who fixed it. I did the claim online and I paid the deductible, and they sent somebody. The person checked it out. They needed some supply. It was ordered, and he came and fixed it. My oven is working fine now. I'm also a real estate agent and I have a real estate account with American Home Shield. One of the customer complaints I have from guys that buy the warranty for is getting customer service from American Home Shield. These are new homeowners and they are not used to the warranty process. So, they wanna talk to someone. One of them was frustrated because they had to pay almost $300 to get stuff fixed in his house, and he was unhappy about it. We've not been hearing a lot of good stuff about American Home Shield.

The shower drain in one of the bathrooms backed up and wouldn't drain. I did the claim online but because I was gonna be out of town for work, they scheduled the service for the first day I was back in town. The tech was very, very on time and very professional. I work at home and he was real quiet. He checked the drain out thoroughly and he drilled it out and got it all to go down like it should. Everything’s working perfectly now. I appreciate the claim being covered and getting it done so quickly. Home Shield worked so fast.

Since American Home Shield sent us Ambition Plumbing, I thought they were good. That claim was for a stopper jam on a sink in the master bedroom, and the toilet and shower in the master bedroom were plugged. That was three months ago. When they came, they were great and when they left, the plumbing was working. The problem may have been that as far as their auger would go is far as they were able to clean stuff out and they couldn't see any further. They did not use a camera.
We called in the same thing a week and a half ago. American Home Shield sent a company called ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing and their action was to say they couldn't do anything with the drains not draining because I had a high-pressure relief valve. They wanted to replace it, which is the water intake into the house, instead of fixing the drain. So we said that didn't fix anything and I'm not gonna pay $1000 to change the water pressure into my house. I do not want them to ever come back to our house. We told American Home Shield that I needed a second opinion and it happened with Immediate Response Plumbing. An hour after we called, they were here. They came at 5:00 Friday night and diagnosed the problem and they got done at 7:00. I paid an extra $225 and I told them to put a camera down there to find out what's going on. When they took the picture, they said that I got a problem and showed it to me.
The reps said that my pipe has separated and collapsed underneath my house. They think it's a foundation issue. We'll find out as soon as they get to the pipe. So, we're without two bathrooms and I had hip surgery the day before we called them in. American Home Shield immediately told us that since it's a problem with a pipe underneath my house, it's not their responsibility. So, I contracted with Immediate Response Plumbing and the very next day, they had people out jackhammering into the foundation to get to the pipe so we can get it fixed.
We hired American Home Shield seven years ago because we had a catastrophic failure of two water heaters and a water softener, all at one time. I said that enough was enough. We've gotta protect ourselves. I'm satisfied with them but before, when you call, you get an immediate response. There's someone there. I got it that it's a call center but once this COVID thing happened, all of a sudden, you gotta wait hours. I happen to love their computer program because you get to put the information in quickly but it doesn't give you any access to say what's wrong.

I've had American Home Shield since '06. Aside from this home, I also had it at my other home. It's been a good experience with their service and I've never had a bad experience with the individuals they sent out. Recently, Hers and His Plumbing came out for a plumbing issue. They did really well although they had to do a follow-up where they had to bring in a part. They took care of the problems quickly. I was satisfied.

The most recent experience with American Home Shield was very good. The one prior to that was not very good. The recent claim was for an air conditioning problem that we were having water leaks in the attic because of it, and they solved that problem for us. The one prior to that was the same thing and they did not solve the problem. I wrote it on a complaint when they asked for it. I sent it in and told them what I didn't like about it. But I'm happy with American Home Shield. They're doing fine. It's just that one company came out here and we had another problem develop on a commode. He was working on the commode and I said, "Can you check this other one for me real quick?" He said, "No, I can't. I've got another appointment and I'm gonna go make it." It wouldn't have taken him a minute to adjust it.

The dryer wasn't working and then the sink and the garbage disposal when we bought the house. When we first got there, they said they could only put in one claim. Then I spoke to a supervisor that said we could put in both the claim. She told us to just give them the information on the escrow, which we did. Then she said they would get technicians and they would transfer us back to the department and they would process it. When they transferred me back, they said they could only process one. So we decided that we needed the dryer fixed because we were all filthy from moving and we wanna wash our clothes. We could get to-go food because we thought it'd only be a day or two 'til the sink was working.
The contractor came out and fixed the dryer. It was great. Then when I called back, they said they couldn't process the other claim until they get the money from the title company. I've been calling every week and finally, I asked the title company if they paid these people because they still haven't got the check. They told me the check number and the amount. So then I called and asked for a supervisor. I've called a million times now. I talked to a supervisor and said the check number and the amount. I also told them the phone number of the title company. Then they said everything was so slow because of the coronavirus. They said the check probably arrived but processing it in their system is taking time. So American Home Shield admitted they're slow on their end too. They assured me the check went out the day we closed escrow but it's been three weeks or more now.
When we finally got the approval to get to them with the check number, they gave me the approval to do the sink. We called the contractor but they can't come until October 2nd. I called American Home Shield right back and told them that October 2nd was too far without a kitchen sink. Then they said they would just need verification from them. They called but they were closed because it was the end of the day. They said they were gonna email them and they would follow up by tomorrow. They would just have another person log into our account.
On my phone, I logged in to American Home Shield a thousand times a day to see if the check cleared. But a week later, still nothing. So I called and they said the company never released it. I called the company back and they said that anytime American Home Shield contacted them, they released it immediately. I told them that they were closed when American Home Shield called them and they said they emailed them. But they said they had zero emails and calls from them. So I told them that if they have a cancelation, they could call me and I would make sure someone was home. The rep looked on and she said there is an October 1st appointment, so they can at least get me in by then. I was okay with that. But meanwhile, I've been three or four weeks now without a kitchen sink.
American Home Shield is probably good if you paid it and you were just using it as a consumer, like for an emergency. But because I moved in and needed it right when we closed and then they didn't get the check, that was where the problem they couldn’t fix them both better. It's a complete nightmare. I do talk to a supervisor and then they transfer me back to somewhere else. Then they don't do what the supervisor just told me they were gonna do, so it's dumb.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused you. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to speak to you more about your claim.

They have good relationships with their vendors and they have a good system for scheduling their vendors. It’s also very easy submitting a claim to them. I call then I go through a voice menu. They tell me what they can and can't do and what's covered and not covered. Hanneman and Sons Electrical came out for a claim recently and the technician was great. He had good communication and good scheduling and was on time and professional. His name is Craig and he fixed the issue fine. One of the air conditioner units had stopped blowing cold air. The contractor looked at it and found that it had a bad capacitor. He replaced it and he was out of here in about 20 minutes. The contractor was fantastic. Then I had another issue the next day that was plumbing related and American Home Shield said that they would not help me with that because it was too quick after the first call. Submitting claims is pretty easy. It's just that sometimes I have to wait for a couple of days for anybody to show up. We had a water leak up in the attic recently. The technician came and it wound up being an air conditioner problem and so, we had to get the air conditioner people out, but it all worked out. AHS has always done a pretty fair job. I don't have any problems if the repairman calls and tells there’s something wrong. AHS always seems to fix it without any argument.

My refrigerator died and the vendor who came out was excellent compared to my last home warranty people. The technician tried to run it through the defrost cycle. He looked at it. He cleaned it out to try to help it get through the defrost cycle. Unfortunately, as the weeks went on, it was not able to overcome that. It started not working again and so I called them. They came back out. They looked at it and said that there was nothing else that they could do for that unit. Then I contacted American Home Shield and they set me up to go buy a new one and get it reimbursed for a part of that. We were living out of a cooler for a month and a half. So the refrigerator repair is invaluable.
American Home Shield and AM PM Services were fantastic. The people that American Home Shield sent out were the people that I would have used to repair that product if I didn't have them. The bottom burner on my oven wasn't working and Aurora Appliance Repair replaced it. When I called them, they were able to get the serial number for the oven and they ordered the part and it took maybe four days to get the part in. Most of the time, my claims experience with American Home Shield is decent. I had one issue. It was with a dishwasher, and this is when COVID had just started. The guy wasn't wearing a mask. I didn't appreciate that. I've only had two people in since that happened. Then I've had trouble with my furnace where I really felt like they should have replaced it and they didn't. This was a few years back but my husband had a stroke and it took three different companies to come out.
The guy that finally was able to fix it turned something up. It was extremely hot and I really didn't feel like it was even safe. I was in the midst of caring for my husband. So I worked with them, but I normally would have not allowed that. I have old pipes and American Home Shield doesn't deal with anything with galvanized pipes. As far as plumbing, I don't like the plumbers that they have. Often, they won't even look at anything but just blame it on the pipes. I'm really considering stopping the coverage.

The submission of the claim part is very easy. However, I am often frustrated after that, with the timeliness that I get a response from the service providers by any means. My last experience with the garage door people was absolutely amazing. In my experience with the air conditioner, I had two different claims. One of them was absolutely amazing as well. The other one was not. Typically, some claims are more urgent than others. American Home Shield would need to encourage their providers to prioritize some of their claims. For example, we had a claim that was causing major water damage to our home, which was going to force us to file an insurance claim, and cost us even more money. The air conditioner company did not care.

There was one guy who came out and just did refrigerator alone, and he didn't actually do anything while he was there. He just looked at it. Then the ice maker is still not working, but we said to forget about it. Another guy came out from Sears and he worked on several things. But all of those things needed a part. One of the parts came in while I was at my dad's house and he put that one on. Then he's going to be back on October 5th to put two other parts on. That guy has been fine. The first guy that had to do with the refrigerator, however, is still not done.
The contractors were pretty responsive. The only thing that was an issue was that it first sent me on the appliances to something like Honesty Appliances but they don't work on those particular models. So then what happens is a lot of time goes by because I'm thinking they're coming, but when they call to just confirm, then they can't even do it. Then it has to go back to American Home Shield. Sears doesn't answer the phone for half an hour. So it was like a process. When I finally got through with Sears, they didn't have the work order loaded into the system so then I had to call American Home Shield back. I have had the AHS services for some six years or more and I loved it. I am the one that referred them to my dad because I think it would be great. They're elderly. I also told my brother to get it. I've never had any trouble. Just this one thing with Sears is a one off.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and in 10 hours, somebody was out at my place. The tech who came was super professional and worked really hard. He was very polite and he did everything he needed to do.
We've had another claim for our refrigerator which went well. Unfortunately, the tech also broke something he was fixing the refrigerator and he had to order another part. He came back and replaced the part he needed to replace. Everything else worked great. So far, AHS has been doing great for us. We appreciate all of their work. It makes me feel safer having them around. Their warranty gives me peace of mind.

My garbage disposal was leaking. There was a lot of water coming out of it. It was the original from the house, so it definitely needed to be replaced. Filing the claim to AHS wasn't hard at all. I did over the phone. The repair guy came in the same day. He fixed it, and everything is working.

I called my claim in and Home Shield found somebody sent into the house. We have been trying to get the AC fixed, but it has been multiple reasons why it's not working. They told my husband it had a leak, that it needed Freon, and that it was a breaker. So, we fixed those three things. They also said that it could be something stuck in the ducts. So, they came and checked it and they said it was the blower. My husband said they supercharged the blower. The AC worked for a good two weeks, and then right now, it makes this horrible loud noise when we turn it on and the cold air is not coming through. There is blowing of air, but it's not strong and not cold. So, I don't understand how we just added the Freon.
We're back to the same situation. Home Shield will get a second opinion, so they're sending a different company right now. I'm waiting. I'm supposed to be scheduled between 1:00 and 5:00. But Home Shield does the job. They tend to customers pretty quickly. Ours is just an old home, and it's a flipped home. It's a learning experience for us first-time buyers. I told my sister about Home Shield.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

Submitting claims to American Home Shield is very easy. They have made a little change with the process. now, I can choose who my provider is gonna band who will come out to my house. I love that. Recently, we were having problems with our AC not cooling and it was dripping from a little valve. I submitted a claim and AHS sent AC Wizard. I had a fabulous experience with their tech. I love American Home Shield. I had a different warranty provider before at a different house and AHS is considerably better and easier to use. I just go online and request service which is very simple. The contract I have with them is great.

I hate American Home Shield. Every time we have something break down and I have to call them, my husband and I have to flip a coin for who is going to actually do it because it's that much of torture just talking to any of the incompetent people they have there. I call them and ask them for something. English is my second language and I am not racist, but I can never understand the people that I'm speaking to. The line is always fuzzy. They always put my name down incorrectly. For 10 years, they can't get the addresses right. They send people to other people's homes that I don't even own and then they never call back. The plumbing system in our newest house was so horrible. There was one plumber that came there and he lied in order to get a bunch of things changed. American Home Shield doesn’t cover those and we would have to pay them directly. Then everything the plumber told us was false.
American Home Shield should be shut down. They are horrible and they hire third-rate trash technicians. I'm forced to go to another contract. If I had another choice, I’d go somewhere else but I'm just too lazy to switch. In 10 years, and we have about nine houses with them, 1 is the worst but I don't even think they deserve a 1.

Recently, my garage door would not open. I contacted American Home Shield and they assigned a repair person who came out the next day. My issue was fixed within four days. This was a great experience with AHS. However, my prior service call for my cooktop wasn't a good experience. The burners of the cooktop would go on and then go off. I called AHS for service and paid my fee. They sent someone in the next two days who viewed my stove and took the model number. Those techs said they would order parts. Four weeks went by and I didn't hear anything. The stove was finally fixed a week and a half ago almost two entire months later. AHS and their tech kept saying they were having problems getting parts. The tech's company said they got one part but they haven't received the other needed part yet. Before the fix, I was without a stove for two months.

It has been about three weeks ago since I put the first claim for my air conditioner. American Home Shield has scheduled the appointments and they've done exactly what the contract or agreement is about. But the air conditioning company that came out didn't diagnose the problem correctly the first time. I called the air conditioning company again today to set up this appointment. That is the fifth time that I've had to call.
The first time that the air conditioning company came out, they drained some water out of the pan upstairs in the attic. The air conditioner came back on and worked for about two days, then it quit. So I had to call them again. They sent another guy out. He drained the pan and put an overflow spout where it would automatically drain the pan. The air conditioner came back on and stayed on for three days and then it went back off again. So, I had a call again.
The air conditioning company came out and complained that they couldn't go up there without a catwalk. They needed a catwalk to walk on. So, my son and I had to build a work platform and a catwalk. I’m 74 years old and I have gone up and down the thing and put all borders down and it didn't really bother me. But according to their guidelines, they needed a catwalk up there. So, we put about a 10-inch wide catwalk. The tech came back again and said that it was sufficient. We put down a work platform about four foot wide and about six feet long. Then we put down beside the catwalk another four-foot-wide flooring there. We've called them again to see if they'll come back. Hopefully this time, they won't complain about it and they will diagnose the problem correctly and fix it.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is a simple process but with the dishwasher that I have now, I’ve had contractors out five times with it. I'm tired of it and I'd like to have it replaced. Getting something replaced would be a major problem. The only reason I'm still with AHS is that I've been with them for so long. It has been 10 years. My house is 20 years old now and I'm afraid my air conditioning or something major will go out. On the other hand, I'm not totally confident that they're gonna take care of it even if it does.

We weren't getting cool air from one of the air conditioning units. We have two of them and we weren't sure about the other one, so we put in the order to have both of them checked, and then the one had a failed capacitor. MS Services came out and the tech identified the problem and corrected it. We do have an outstanding repair order with American Home Shield, and I probably need to resubmit it. We had the pool worked on, and since we've had it worked on, our remote controller doesn't work. I'm trying to troubleshoot that and try to understand why that's not working. I guess there's some confusion because we wanted the heater repaired at the same time with the same work order. I had to jump through hoops to get that heater included on that same work order. So, I'm going to call American Home Shield today to get a new work order.
We've been with American Home Shield for several years, and we haven't utilized it that much. With our claims on the pool and the air conditioner, they were all right. We've had the refrigerator worked on it and unfortunately, it took a long time. We were without a refrigerator for quite a while. That wasn't American Home Shield's fault though. On August the 20th, On Point Services came out to check my stovetop range and my oven because there was a short in my oven light. It was due to a bulb, so they fixed that. With the stovetop, the big burner on the front and the little burner on the back never would go out. They looked at it and they said they'd have to order replacement parts. Then, in about two weeks, they let me know that it had to be replaced. The range was too old and the parts were not available. But I haven't heard anything from American Home Shield since. The last representative I talked to gave me a replacement department telephone number and when I called that, they gave me a hold time of two hours and 40 minutes. I held on the line this morning for an hour and never did get a representative. But the tech was very polite and he did what he was supposed to do here.
In the past, American Home Shield had always been prompt. The technicians that have come out were able to fix what I ever needed. A few months ago, I had to have my washing machine replaced and American Home Shield was very prompt on what they told me they could offer me. So I took it and paid the other part and bought a new machine. This is my first time in all the years for them to be dragging their feet and I'm working on two burners.

I had some issues with my HVAC so I opened a service request. They assigned a company and the company's technician called the next day. This technician was the most rude and unprofessional service professional I've ever dealt with. Instead of listening to my concerns, he lectured me on how to use an AC. I tried to get a different company assigned before the technician visited but AHS told me that only the service company can cancel/reschedule the appointment (?!?!?) So, obviously, the visit from this technician was just as unpleasant as his phone call. I had another contractor in the house at the same time who completely agreed that this HVAC technician should not be sent to peoples' houses!
I fill a survey on AH detailing my experience and no calls/contact from AHS. I waited a few weeks and nothing. I finally called AHS, was put on hold for almost 30 minutes, and was told that it was my fault for not rescheduling or requesting a different company. Apparently I could've called the HVAC service company and canceled but I was not told this when I first called to complain! They wouldn't even refund my service fee because "the visit has already happened". There's no accountability with this company (!) so I'm writing this review to let other people know what options they have in case they run into the same situation. Consumers have so little power left these days.

If I ever need any heating or any AC or to fix anything on my heater, I'm gonna ask American Home Shield for them specifically. He's a total professional. He came in. He figured out what was wrong. He did it quickly and efficiently. He's top-shelf. He did not put in the AC unit. I had somebody else did it. He did a much better job than the other people that put it in. I had a friend of mine who had American Home Shield and he told me about it. I went with that because I've known him for over 20 years and he never led me the wrong way. Everything for the most part has been fine with American Home Shield. But I'm very disappointed with the contractor for the delivery and the install of the dishwasher. I was told that the dishwasher would be delivered today. They gave me the time frame and that's all fine and well. Then, the delivery drivers get here and they said they were just here to drop off the dishwasher. They said somebody else will be coming by to install it. That was never told to me.
I live in an area that requires a licensed plumber, which I get, but what the contractor did not do was call me. I would have been fine with it if I was told that it's gonna be a two-day thing - that they're going to deliver it on this day and somebody else would come by the following day. I'm going through chemo treatments and I would have scheduled it all around my treatments. I have a dishwasher sitting in my front foyer and my old one is still hooked up. I have a treatment tomorrow and I'm waiting for a call from the licensed plumber on what time the window’s gonna be for tomorrow. I told him it has to be at three o'clock. I am so pissed right now, it’s not even funny. I want to report this contractor to AHS.
Also, at the time I put in the claim for the dishwasher and they took my $75, I also put a claim in for some plumbing work and gave them $75. Then I called back and told them that I don't need them coming out for 75. They said they would refund my money. I've been looking at my credit card and they have not refunded me yet. But I called AHS last week and they said it was in the process to be refunded back. They're waiting on the bank. AHS has been good to me every year. Whatever I needed, they either fixed or replaced. It's the secondary people that is an issue.

Everything went fine with my recent claim with AHS. The gentleman, his name was Fernando, did an excellent job. He was very polite, very professional and overall, resolved the problem. He was wearing a mask and a hand sanitizer available. He explained what the issue was. He said that the drainage on the refrigerator itself was having some backup causing some ice buildup inside the refrigerator. He went and ordered a new part for it, a new drainage that allows it not to backup. It seemed to resolve the problem.
Thus far, everything's been good with American Home Shield. We've had not too many issues. But about two years ago, we had an issue with our water heater. The only thing with the water heater itself, out-of-pocket was almost 800 bucks. That was just due to bringing it up to whatever current standards. It was somewhat understandable, but I expected only to pay the deductible itself.
But other than that, those people that did that, did a good job on it and I'm happy with it. I haven't had any problems with it. So, I recommended American Home Shield to my sister who was out of state, and she has another company that's going through Sears called Cinch and they're just terrible, just had a bad experience with them. So, she changed it over last month to American Home Shield.

American Home Shield sent Appliance Resource & Rescue to replace my ice maker in my refrigerator and it all went fine. The tech was nice and very friendly. He had to come out twice since he had to order a part. I tried to do something the first time and the guy never returned my call. So, I liked that this time, it did work. I do not recommend the company that does their air conditioning stuff. They don't even answer their phone when you call them to set up an appointment. It just kept ringing. It was 117 degrees here in Arizona and I couldn't wait. I called my old company and they came out and I just got a brand-new one. There was nothing outstanding with my overall experience, but it was fine.

American Home Shield is a really great resource. I'm not a handyman but I do learn from the people that come by. They're really great. My recent experience with American Home Shield was wonderful. It was for our toilet and the process was easy. I just went online, booked my thing then I had a plumber in my house. They're the best plumbing service I've ever seen. The guy's name is Matthew and he deserves a raise. The toilet’s been working better and he did recommend some things like I probably need a new toilet downstairs. We're still waiting on a call back for them to figure out what are the next steps to get the new toilet downstairs.

We were sitting here one day about a little after noon and all of a sudden, we heard a big arc, like an electrical crackle. When my son-in-law came home, he looked at the air conditioning and he could see where it had caught on fire for a moment. 'Cause we could smell electrical, we called American Home Shield. They contracted Outlaws Heating & Air, and we got in contact with them. They set it up and were out the next day. They were very polite and nice. They had it fixed within 20 minutes. It was very fast. Since we got American Home Shield, we've put three claims in and they've fixed everything. Twice it's been the air conditioning. We had a leak in the coils that all of a sudden it just quit cooling. Outlaws fixed that also. That was a little bit longer because they had to order the part. Overall, American Home Shield had been great, very efficient, and courteous. Everything was handled very professionally.

The price was good for me at the time I got the home warranty and it's still good for me.
I have a Vivint smart home and my thermostat had went out. A.R.T. Heating was able to replace my thermostat and all this other stuff, and they were able to explain to me why it shorted out. They also explained to me the procedure on what they were doing and why everything happened the way it did. I was pleased with that. They got my unit working and they had a mask on and they wore gloves 'cause they were dealing with electricity. They were awesome. When the guy came in, he also took his shoes off and that shows respect to the house.

All American Plumbing was great. I had a claim for the water heater. They had to come out and diagnose the problem and then they had to come and repair the problem. They were nice, very respectful and very professional. I was without a water heater for three days but they were fast. I had a good experience with this claim. But I had two experiences with American Home Shield where I was not happy with.
It was impossible to get ahold of American Home Shield. One time I sat at home for an entire day and I had to keep calling Sears and asking them when they were coming. I took off work for an entire day and they never even showed up. So I ended up having to fix the dryer myself. Then another time, I had a problem with the air conditioner. It was in the middle of the summer and I had kids at home. But there was absolutely no rush at all to fix it. The guy who came out said that he fixed the AC but he actually didn't. So he came back out for the second time a few days later. He said that we got to call an electrician and it took five days before an electrician even called me back. By then, I already called somebody else to fix the air conditioner ‘cause it was unbearable. I would not recommend American Home Shield.

I called them a couple weeks ago and asked for a copy of that but I still haven't received it. I'm gonna call them again as I'm not really sure what it was that they had me sign. I'm also curious that I'm in Kenosha and both of the people American Home Shield contracted with were from the Milwaukee area. I was wondering why they didn't use people from Kenosha.

Our pool had a salt cell that was bad. The contractor came out and saw that it didn't register at all. A company came out before them and that company flipped a whole bunch of switches and made it turn green. They left and two hours later, it went back to red which was exactly what I told him would happen. Six hours after that, there were no lights on it at all. The guy told me he was gonna call his boss. I kept waiting for him to call his boss and tell me what his boss said but he just bailed and closed the case which was why I asked for a second company.
I called American Home Shield back up and said, “It's not resolved. Can I have somebody new because that company's not working for me.” They sent the new company out and the new company was fabulous. They contacted me immediately. The person came out, explained everything, asked me any problems that I had had, and explained to me what he saw. He told me they were gonna have to order that salt cell. As soon as they got it in, they would call me back and let me know and schedule for a time for them to come out. They did it promptly and courteously. They were wonderful to deal with.
The website was easy to use. The only thing that I wished is if they say this is what's wrong, they could give you a space next to it to explain any caveats. If it's not exactly that but similar to that, they could give you another option and let you fill in the blank. Sometimes they'll say what is wrong. It's kind of that but it's not exactly that. They don't let you pick multiple buttons. If they let you pick two buttons or if they let you write in exactly what it is that's wrong, that would be most helpful.

I've had American Home Shield for almost as long as I've lived in this house. I lived in this house for more than 20 years now. It's fairly easy to submit the claim and their representatives are pretty good. But I have a problem with how much time they take to get somebody to come out and that's even before the Coronavirus. Other than that, I'm very happy with them. It's the best thing that I've ever invested in. You don't have to look for anybody if you just make a phone call and it's very convenient. I wouldn't change it for anything. I brag about American Home Shield all the time to all my friends. I'm not saying that I haven't had any problem, which I have. But overall, I'm very pleased with them.
The technician we had was very good. I already had spoken to the office on the phone and let the tech know exactly what was going on. The problem was on the upstairs level. So when thee tech came, I showed him where it was and he knew that was in the master bathroom. Then I just escorted him to the bathroom. It didn't take him long before he fixed the problem. He was very nice about it. He told me what had happened and everything and what he did.

American Home Shield previously was really good. But currently, I haven't had good experiences with them. When you call, there is a long waiting time which is not good. Because of that, I usually don't want to call when I need to talk to customer service. AHS should review their wait time. If they can do that and have quicker service, that would be great. Also, most of the customer service people don't work properly. Sometimes there is a disconnection and they never call back. But some workers are good. AHS has to filter those workers.
Another thing is our claim is taking a long time. I have three homes insured with AHS. In my primary residence, I am now waiting for my refrigerator to be fixed. A put in a claim my refrigerator and a man came four or five times and it's still not fixed. It is more than a month now. The tech is coming again tomorrow. If AHS would replace the refrigerator, that would be great.
I also have an air conditioner issue that is still not fixed. A contractor came and said they could not get access to the air conditioner. I then hired private contractors and they got access to it. They diagnosed that the compressor and condenser were bad. AHS' contractor said that only the condenser was bad. In the end, the private contractors easily fixed the problem. Now, I have another problem with my AC and it's the evaporator coil. AHS assigned H & E Company and they ordered the parts. The parts are coming within five weeks. I will probably be waiting until the end of October and the AC will be fixed. And the contractor has not yet called my other house. Those issues aside, I still like AHS. It's probably better than other insurance companies.

We have to call them to be updated on when the part's gonna be delivered, or when are they coming back. They fixed the problem. But there was another problem after that for the AC, so we have to call them back again. Overall, we're very happy with American Home Shield.

My husband does our claims with American Home Shield and it's been easy to get ahold of them. They also make their appointments really quickly. He was supposed to fix my electrical problem but it still has not been fixed. I haven't called yet though. I got frustrated with them. None of the things that I needed to be fixed really worked and he cut off something.
My other issue is American Home Shield raised their monthly fees, which I can’t believe. I wish they could grandfather people in that have been long-term. My husband is gonna be retiring at the end of this month so every penny we save would really help. Other than those, it's been all right. A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out recently and they repaired our unit.

The parts weren't available then he searched and found it, and within two hours he had my dryer going. The only trouble that I have is that when I get a live customer service representative, they're from out of the country, and sometimes the language can be a strong barrier. But when I first got American Home Shield in 2018, I didn't think their customer service representatives were out of the country.

He was quick to the point but very professional. We had one day where the fridge kinda kicked off, but then it started working again.
My experience is good when you get to the point where you're working with the contractors, but working with some of the agents with American Home Shield itself can be exceptionally tasking. It’s long. You have to continually follow up with stuff in some cases. From where I found, at least, some of the agents aren't really familiar with the policy. This is why I do my claims online most of the time now. You can call and have an issue with one thing and the agent will be like, “That's not covered.” Then you call a different agent and they’ll say, “Yup. Said there right in your contract.” But once I get over to contractors themselves, I haven't had any issues.

We have a five-ton and a three-ton air conditioners. The five-ton takes care of the front part of the house, the living room, family room. But there was no air. What we found is that the coil in the air conditioning just completely rusted and all the Freon was gone. That was when we had the 118-degree day. The unit was 25 years old. So, looking at the coil and the age of the unit, we just made a decision that it would be better just to replace it. So, we had Air Plus install a new one.
American Home Shield has delivered on what they have said regarding if something breaks or whatever. They've been very good at getting the repair people out. It was very easy to submit a claim. So, it made this razor-thin ice that if you put it in a glass of water, it instantly melts because it's not a solid cube. It is not ideal. He came in today and he said he doesn't think it's getting cold enough. It probably needs another dryer on there, which is a filter because it may have something in the expansion valve.
The guy came this morning. It was supposedly between 8:00 and 1:00, and he got here about 10:20. He looked at it. He said, “Yeah. It’s probably during the expansion valve, and we need to put a filter on.” But he said he's only worked on three out-of-whack icemakers. It's just not getting cold enough because the expansion valve maybe is dirty.
As far as American Home Shield, the service is sometimes good. Sometimes, it gets even mediocre. They resolved my refrigerator for my Sub-Zero, and it's great. We couldn't get a timer for my washer and dryer several years ago. They quit making it, so AHS had to replace the whole washing machine. So far, so good. The thing I don't like about American Home Shield is that you have to pay the money, then the contractor has to come look at it. They have to come, go away, then they had to come back. If anything's wrong, they had to come back again. It disrupts my day waiting for somebody, and it takes several weeks to get something accomplished. Other than that, they're doing as well as they can.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

I've been experiencing my hot water heater pilot light continuously going out. It's very odd because it didn't happen for a while when we first moved in on April the 22nd. And then it did it, and then the next month, it did again, and then it became more frequent. I've put in some requests for that. And now, I have stopped putting in a request, and that's for two reasons. One, I don't want to incur any costs for putting in those requests anymore, with it not being not totally fixed. That may not be to the contractor's fault. But then, putting in the service request got repetitive. So, I was just fed up with continuing to put it in.
When it comes to submitting claims, it's very simple. But at first, the process with getting the contractor to reach out to you in a timely span was frustrating because one time I went with cold water for nearly a week. I'm a reasonable guy. I used to work in property management and getting contractors, so I get it, especially with COVID going on. But I didn't want my girlfriend too upset with me. When she's at play, I add more urgency. But now, Neely Brothers, the new contractors that came out, are super prompt with responding so it was great.
I like American Home Shield. It was referred to me by not only my lender, but also my Realtor, who I trust. Home Shield has been trustworthy with addressing my issues because with other places, when I ever hit up somebody with coverage, I make sure that I was talking to the right person. But I get a trust when I get on a phone call with Home Shield. We're happy.

I'm happy with American Home Shield. I don't have any issues so far and hopefully, I would not. My recent claim with them turned out very nicely. The person who came, Justin, was very kind and professional. He did whatever he needed to do. So far, things are working fine. But the contractor was supposed to call me back regarding a valve and I haven't gotten any call yet. They said they would have to reach out to American Home Shield as an okay was required from them then they would let me know. I left a text message to American Home Shield too. Even if they don't call me, they should call the people that they sent. This is a two story house. If it starts leaking again, I would not be able to turn it off completely so it doesn't leak down or anywhere else. That would be a major thing.
On the whole, I will recommend American Home Shield to anyone. I've had a very good experience. I'm happy with regard to the timing. Nowadays, everything is delayed and things are backed up. People are not working. What would be faster is if I give American Home Shield a call for a job, they could set up the service right away the next day. But it's taking a whole week and this is understandable. Also, American Home Shield's trade fee is a little bit expensive. When someone comes in, I have to give them $100. If they could do something about the trade fee, that would be awesome.

MJS Plumbing was great. As soon as the request was put in, the technician called me. He explained different things to me and immediately came out, when our schedules allowed. The turnaround time of replacing the water heater was great. There were two of them and they were very respectful and easy to deal with. With us being first-time homeowners, I had a lot of questions and the technician took the time to answer any questions I had and walked me through different things. I have no complaints with MJS. American Home Shield has been spotty though. Every person that I've talked to have been pleasant but I called with questions and issues, and they're still not resolved yet. One is my billing. When I signed up, I wanted to pay monthly but they charged me upfront for it.
I placed three calls. The first guy said he fixed it and it still hasn't been fixed. The charge is still on my card. The second person that I talked to said he would get his manager and put me on hold for 45 minutes. Then, somehow, the call got dropped. It sounded like they were getting ready to pick up and it hung up. Nobody offered to call me back so, I'm sorting that out. Then, when I signed up for American Home Shield, my home had a Jacuzzi tub in it and I said that I wanted that covered and added to my plan. They said it was probably just a portable and they don't cover those. I said it’s in my floor and I can't move it. The pump is down at the bottom in my basement for all the controls. They said that it might be covered underneath a Whirlpool and that I should be fine.
But now, since we just moved into the home and we closed last Tuesday, we went to get it serviced. It needs some repairs so, I wanna know if my home warranty covers it. That was another time I called and was put on hold for quite a bit of time. They told me they were transferring me from this person to that person and somewhere along the line, the call got dropped. They're crazy busy, which I understand because it’s a high call volume in what they do but I haven't received a call back. Every time I call, it's a 45-minute hold time because I don't wanna risk them calling me and missing the call because I did that once. I was moving and unpacking and ended up missing one of the calls. Everybody I talked to provided great customer service and were pleasant. They sounded like they wanna work things out. However, the actual follow through is what I'm struggling with.
I needed to place a call with AHS. So, I put in a work order for an electrician and I'm having a hard time getting in touch with the electrician that they assigned. I left voicemails for him two days ago. I have outlets that don't work. Where my washer and dryer are hooked up currently, the outlet doesn't work for my washer. So, I have to use an extension cord and plug it into my bathroom. I want to get my attic fan inspected too. I just got in here and the light’s turned on and it has a lot of different switches. So, everything looks good. But now that we're in here, certain outlets don't work. The hope with American Home Shield is that it would help alleviate some of that getting in and finding all the issues and stuff with the home. I would still advise people getting a home warranty. That's a major basis for my judgment but I also feel right now that I wouldn’t fully recommend American Home Shield.

I signed up with American Home Shield because of a recommendation from my friend and my experience with them has been pretty good. I moved over to them from another home warranty service. So far, the process has been pretty smooth. It's been a month since I've taken the service. But it was a little difficult to submit a claim for my dishwasher. After I created an account with American Home Shield, I could not create a service request online for some reason. I always have to call up. And whenever I call up, there's a 30 to 40-minute wait even to log a claim so that wasn't that great. Otherwise, the process is pretty fast after I do it.
It took four visits for a contractor to fix everything. The first time he came for a leak, he said he was gonna fix it. He did something but the problem remained. The next time he came again, he replaced something but then the dishwasher wasn't starting. I feel like it didn't have to take four visits to fix the problem. It could have been done at the same time. I don't know if it was having both the problem existing at the very same time and he just didn't diagnose it. Otherwise, he was very responsive. He was sent over three times. They did the work pretty fast so it was all good although it was a lot of inconvenience.

A pipe in our basement was cracked and leaking. Home Shield phone number set me up with Nussbaumer. The claims process was pretty easy to follow. But I thought they'd be out within 48 hours. They did try to make an appointment then, but it would be inconvenient for me. So I had them come out at a time that worked for me and that ended up working out well.
Nussbaumer Plumbing came out to fix the pipe. They also unclogged a sink on the first floor bathroom. They also fixed an issue with the kitchen sink faucet. There was a leaking valve in the first floor bathroom shower tub that they corrected as well. We also wanted them to fix the issue with the toilet running on the first floor. But that item wasn't covered under the warranty so they didn't fix it. They said that they needed to replace the toilet. But I don't think that's accurate. They just needed to replace the flapper on the toilet and they didn't have the part with them. So they said that I needed to call them back to fix the whole toilet. But overall, they did a pretty good job. They were on time and they cleaned up after themselves.

And then, Home Shield said they would notify the contractor, then I could call them and set up some time that they could come out.
A.R.T. came out somewhere around the 16th or 17th and worked on my air conditioner. The tech was very polite about stuff. He checked everything out he could and when he finally found it, he did the repair work quickly. Also, he explained to me what was going on and what to look for. He was very good about dealing with me and explained to me anything I asked. Everything is working great and I'm tickled to death. It was a hot month without that air conditioner. The repair helped cool things down and kept from overheating a lot of the appliances that got regulated. It took a lot of the stress off the stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. It didn’t overheat the house. Made it easier for me.

I used to have American Home Shield on my two homes but I took off the other one because it seemed like we just kept replacing the dishwasher. I felt like I spent the money to buy a dishwasher as opposed to what they kept doing, which was replacing parts, and the dishwasher would still break. I eventually canceled it only because we bought new appliances and I felt like I didn't need it. To me, it could be expensive if they would not determine again that I needed a new appliance as opposed to keep trying to repair the same appliance. My suggestion would be after replacing a part on an appliance so many times, if it's more than the cost of the appliance, it's not worth it to me as a consumer.
But other than that, I had no problems with them. Everything else, they were always on time. They always sent someone, a person always came, and was always professional. Recently, Fick's Mechanical came out for a routine check. The guy thought that I needed a battery in my unit on the wall that regulates the temperature and thermostat. He looked at the unit and everything seemed to be running like it was supposed to.

It took from October until last month to get my ice maker and refrigerator fixed. I first called the claim for my ice maker in October and a worker came out and did something on it so it should work but it didn't. So I called him. The mistake I made was I kept calling the repairman. It was $100 and the tech replaced an icemaker, and then came back again about nine times. So all the nine times he came back, I never notified Home Shield and I should've. But I know when I call there, it's a good 45 minutes to an hour wait on the phone and I don't have that kind of time to sit and wait. Then when you get somebody on the phone, they'll tell you that they have to transfer you. So that's a little irritating that it takes too long to get on.
I never had ice and I just kept buying my frozen ice. So when I had water on the floor, I called American Home Shield again. I tolt that that this was an ongoing problem and they got another company who came out and looked at it. It was a pretty lengthy ordeal. But the refrigerator is good now. I also had a leaking dishwasher and it couldn't be fixed. So American Home Shield replaced that with no problem. So if your house is 20 years or older, anything can go wrong and you need to look into American Home Shield because it's definitely helpful.

He talked her through some maintenance stuff that she can do with the washing machine and all the settings that are on the machine that we didn't know about. He gave her a lot of pointers.
This is the first time I had to use American Home Shield. A gas fireplace being included would be fantastic. When I extended my warranty out for however long it was, I added on my air conditioner and several things that weren't listed already. I talked about my fireplace and they added on heating. I thought that that included my fireplace, but I came to find out that it does not. Now, I'm wondering if it includes my heating 'cause I have these little units that are electric units built into the wall. You turn them on and they get hot and blow hot air. They're not baseboard heaters but they're like little wall heaters. But I'm happy with the rest of the service. There were some things that were broken in the house that I felt probably should've been covered. If American Home Shield could reach out when a house is closing and set the expectation, that would be good. I had no idea what was covered and what wasn't. There were some things in our house, like the venmar. It's an exhaust, not for the kitchen, which is covered, but for the bathrooms, which is not covered. When I called up, my expectation was that it was all appliances, but it wasn't. I understood what the responsibilities of American Home Shield were though there was a little bit of unclarity at the beginning. But now that I've learned about it, it's great. Being a homeowner, it's reassuring.
When the thermostat was broken, their contractor came in right away and there were no questions asked. There was leaking inside of the refrigerator and ice was pulling up at the bottom. So I put in a follow-up request because I found where the leaking was and I was able to reproduce it. I have a whole slew of claims with American Home Shield. There was the time where we went six weeks without a microwave. We had to pay the $75 to the electric company, $75 to the appliance company and a handyman to pull out our microwave. The appliance company and electric company fought. American Home Shield kinda put their hands in the air and we had to pay ourselves to have our microwave put back in after we paid deductibles.
The air conditioner went out upstairs and we were without air conditioning in our bedrooms for a month. American Home Shield couldn't get their act together in terms of getting a contractor. There was also a sewage problem in my daughter's bathroom that is still unresolved. That claim is six or eight weeks old. We also have an electrical problem with a light and that claim is four to six weeks old.
American Home Shield is really good at trying to get out of coverage, charging in multiple deductibles, and not doing anything. We were eight weeks without air conditioning and it was 80 degrees in the house. That was pretty terrible since we're in South Florida. They said, "Hey, we're really sorry it's over 80 degrees in your house and it's been that way for over a month. We'll pay for you to get a fan." I went out and bought a fan which was 60 bucks. It's a nice high-powered fan. American Home Shield then denied our claim stating that we took a cash-out for a $60 fan. I'm like, "I didn't take a cash-out. You said you were sorry." We reached out to American Home Shield and told them that if they would give us our money back, we would fix all our stuff ourselves. But they said no.
I talked to the real estate company and told them I would never recommend American Home Shield again because they really are ripoff artists. And in trying to use them for the service that you already paid for, you have to be prepared not to have the repair done for at least a month if not two. They are horrible. They are one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company in my entire life.

I call American Home Shield when I file a claim because I don't have a computer at home, and trying to do it online on my phone is impossible because I can’t see everything. Their process is really easy. Even when I don't know what I'm talking about, the reps help me figure it out. The technicians I got to work with were very caring and understanding. I've had issues with my air conditioner and the guy who came out for the second time said, "I don't know what to tell you. I fix it and I turn it on and the breaker breaks.” I knew what it was as soon as he said that. Where I live and the way it used to be connected to the power pole, if something happened with the transformer on the power pole, it would affect my air conditioner. So I had to call the power company and tell them I had a problem.
I was explaining to him because it happened before. I had it on speakerphone and the AC guy that American Home Shield sent out heard me and he came over, stood right next to me and started answering the people on the phone and I just handed the phone to him. I said, “You take care of it.” He did. Right away, they did send somebody even though they told me there was nothing wrong. When the guy showed up, he said, “Oh, yeah. I remember this house.” It was like this third time to come for the same reason and it was not all in one year. It was over a period of time. The AC guys were fabulous. In fact, my AC went out on Labor Day weekend. It was a Saturday and it was 120 degrees that day. So I called and I figured that they were not going to show up until Tuesday because it was a holiday weekend. He called me within an hour saying, “I'll be there tomorrow morning.” I was favorably impressed.
I'm so thrilled that I signed up with American Home Shield. My kids kept telling me, “Mom, you need to do this, you need to do this.” I said, “Nah. No, I don't.” I have a daughter that lives in town too and they had problems with air conditioner one summer and it was like three different trips that American Home Shield had to come out to fix it, but they fixed it. I said, “Okay, I need to find out about this.” So I got the information from them and signed up. American Home Shield is very caring and very prompt at getting me help when I need it. They keep saying, “Is there anything else you need them?”

My girlfriend called for the water heater that stopped making hot water. She told me Oasis Plumbing would call within 24 hours and they did. We were told Oasis Plumbing was coming out but it wasn't until Tuesday. We were with no hot water Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday but it was not American Home Shield’s fault. When Oasis Plumbing came, they told my girlfriend, "We reset the element. You're good to go."
Once she told me that, I was wondering what made it trip in the first place? I didn't get to ask that 'cause they were already gone. They just hit a reset on top of the water heater so I paid $75 for someone to come push a button. If you call American Home Shield, they're supposed to talk to you and say, "Go to the water heater and make sure it's plugged in." They're supposed to talk to you through that. That's part of their thing before they even dispatch a service provider. They should ask basic questions. Normally, American Home Shield is pretty good. I've had them for a while and they've been really receptive to issues. When I call them, they ask me, "Have you checked to see if the breakers trip?" I'm gonna take some of the blame because my girlfriend might have said, "I don't know."
Good afternoon Michael,
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent experience with American Home Shield. We understand that the contractor had to do something simple in order to resolve the issue. However, our representatives do not have a say in resolving the issues over the phone as we can only submit the service requests on our customer's behalf. We apologize for any inconvenience that we have caused you and your family. Have a great evening and please stay safe.

My refrigerator kept leaking and then it wouldn't get cold. The technician came in and diagnosed the problem. He told me he had to order the pieces and then, once the supply comes, he would be right back. So, as soon as it came, he was back on the case and he put them back in. The refrigerator’s been working like a dream. He was professional and kept me posted. Some had even called to update me that they were still waiting on the part. This was my first claim with American Shield and it was a magnificent experience.
I used to have some other claim with my water heater before that. It went out and the company put one in. A year later, it went out and they told me they were not gonna fix it. I said that I didn’t do anything to the water heater for it to go out. So I told them that if I gotta fix this myself, they will no longer be my home warranty. So, I ended up fixing it myself. I fired them and I got AHS. They seem to be okay and they were prompt and professional.

I’m really happy with American Home Shield when I use them. The last time I called in, it was for two separate claims for $75 a piece. Will from Mr Rooter was really professional and nice. He had to go up in my attic and roto-rooter out the drain where the primary drain from the air conditioning goes out 'cause it was leaking. It was filling up and overflowing and coming out my baseboards. He did a real good job and got it fixed. I had a bathroom issue too. The chain was hung up on something where I couldn't flush the handle and it wouldn't fill up the back tub because of it. The guy explained to me that I was using the same plumber so I only had to pay this one $75 and he could list them on one ticket. He didn’t have to really do anything about the chain, but still he kind of saved me 75 bucks.
I feel good about American Home Shield. I've had them for several years. There are some issues that I've taken care of myself and I forget that all I got to do is call them and pay that $75 service charge. Sometimes, I don't think about it. I'm more concerned about big things going out like the air conditioning or a refrigerator. I'm gonna try to remember to start taking advantage of it ‘cause I'm paying for it so I might as well use it when I can. The only thing is, usually, there's a long wait for them to answer the phone. You might be sitting there for like 40 minutes trying to wait. I don't really do the online thing well. It usually doesn't work out for me for some reason. But once I get a hold of somebody, everything goes really good.
Our main objective is to provide exceptional service and a quick resolution to all of your home warranty needs. Your feedback regarding your recent experiences with us is greatly appreciated. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

I submitted the claim online and Home Shield demanded $75 service fee up front. The young man came in and it took a week and a half for me to get my dishwasher back because he couldn't get a part. That was frustrating for me being that I use my dishwasher every day, and I was not able to use it. The service technician, Chris, was wonderful. He has been to my house before and I have nothing but praise for him. The dishwasher now runs great. But AHS as a company, I feel I'm being overcharged for more than I use them.
I dislike the fact that every year they go up on my price. If one little thing breaks down in my house, my payment goes up. I am looking at another home warranty program. I am looking at somebody else because it makes no sense to me that every single year my payment goes up. Home Shield could do much better as a company. Especially it should be something to say about customers that have been with them and have stuck with them for a very long time. And yet, my price goes up every single year. I'm almost reaching the $100 a month. As a retiree, I can't afford it. I am not going to do that.
My hot water tank went out and Home Shield told me it would be 10 days to get a new one in and get somebody to check it. And then, they would decide whether they wanted to replace it or not. I had no water. That was not cool. What I did was I went out and bought a hot water heater and got it installed. I had a fight on my hands trying to get AHS to reimburse me the $600 something I spent, because I could not sit there for 10 days with no water.
Another incident I had was the compressor went out on my air conditioner and Home Shield replaced it with a no-name brand. I never even heard of that company before. We only had it a couple of years and something went bad that caused it not to work. And on a 100 degree day, I called and I could get no service from AHS. It just so happened that I had to go on and get it fixed on my own. And I would not fight with AHS to get them to try to reimburse me what I had to pay. I had to do what I had to do to get some air in my house. At this stage of the game, the only reason I have not canceled them is because I was working. I didn't have time to fool with AHS. I just didn't have time for it. But now that I'm retired, I am looking at other home warranty programs.

Myers Comfort Specialist of Birmingham came out as scheduled and took care of the issue in a matter of minutes. The technician wore a mask, he kept his distance, and so I had no issue with him at all. This time, everything went well. In previous calls, it can take a little time to get on the schedules of the technicians to come out to the house. I don't know if it's the number of companies that they deal with, maybe they could look to get arrangements with more companies in this area because this is a little bit outside of the city. Also, it takes a long time to get somebody on the phone. That can be a pain.
There have been instances where I didn't agree with the approach to resolve an issue. There are times when I feel like the system should be to replace it but they'd repair as much as they can until it just completely falls apart. If that's an air conditioning unit, you have to sit in the heat for a little while until it gets repaired. But the majority of the time, the issue can be addressed. Overall, it's been beneficial to have a service like this, especially when it's a major appliance or when you have an aging home with the finances and things of that nature. Anything mechanical is subject to break.

The plumber was supposed to call me within 24 but he didn't, so I called him a week later. It was on Wednesday and they said that the soonest they could get here was Monday between 11:00 and 3:00. I told them that it would be great if they could get there sooner. So at 8:57 they texted me and said that the guy was available. He then showed up three minutes later. He did the COVID thing where he stood at the door. I brought him in and he asked what the problem was.
I told the plumber that the garbage disposal was leaking. He said that he could see that it was cracked and that someone tried to patch it with glue. Then he said that it was no problem and that he had one of those on his truck. It took him 13 minutes from start to finish. Then he cleaned up after himself. He was just delightful and phenomenal. I tried to give him a tip but he said that they didn't do that. he was professional. He was polite, courteous, professional and knowledgeable. The garbage disposal works better than before and there's no water spraying under my feet.
The dryer went wonky on us, so we had someone come out and fix it. A couple of days later, it was making a lot of noise. The contractors showed up as soon as they could. There was a rubber wheel on it and it had disintegrated and it happened after they left. They were very apologetic about it. Bill's Appliance Repair is phenomenal and our experience with American Home Shield has been painless, efficient, and quick!

Really disappointed! I had a service request back in August 2020, for Washer and Microwave. AHS sent out a contractor with below standard work ethics. Had to Purchase a Microwave since it took over a month for the contractors to come back after stating they had to order parts. Washer started doing the same thing a week after they left so its still not fixed. Once they came back to my home, a month later, I was told the microwave could not be repaired. So I receive a Customer Reimbursement offer for $281 for a over the range microwave from AHS, but I have to go a purchase and hope to have enough and meet all the requirements from AHS to be reimbursed.
After calling and speaking with Amy in the Appliance Division and staying on hold for 2hrs 12 minutes, I was told due to Covid this was the only option I had. I have been a member with AHS almost 4 years and I cannot believe this is how a claim is done. $281 also include installation and disposal again for a over the range microwave...Unbelievable. Now the contractor that was sent was just not good. It use to be the customer was always right and that businesses just took pride in there work and did it with a spirit of Excellence. So needless to say I'm still without my microwave and a washer with issues.

In Nevada per the law our air conditioning is essential and should be resolved within 24 hours. It has been 7 days and American Home Shield told me over the phone I have to wait another 10 days before my unit will be fixed because they forgot to order the parts I requested on the 22nd. They are unacceptable and breaking the law.
Good afternoon Alex,
We apologize for the delay in getting your HVAC repairs completed. We understand that the A/C is an essential system during the summer months especially in an area such as Nevada. Thank you for expressing your feedback regarding this service request. I show that the repairs have now been completed. Have a great evening and please stay safe.

Just bought a house that came with plumbing issues and an "American" Home Shield warranty. Even though warranty specifies plumbing, they used an obscure clause to deny repairs on EVERYTHING. So far - sooo worthless. Buyer beware.
