    I had to file a couple of claims with American Home Shield on my spa. The pole in the middle of the pump snapped off, so the contractor came out and replaced it. I did the claims online. The online process was awesome and the website is really easy to navigate. I had to have two people come out in two separate weeks for two separate incidents. The second guy that came out was awesome. He fixed everything and talked me through what he was doing. The other guy was a little sketchy because I wasn't there after I was told we didn't need to be there, and then he left his trash by my pool pump, but other than that, it was fine. The stuff got fixed, so I was fine with it. The spa is going great, too.

    A couple of weeks ago, the door spring of my garage door was broken and should be replaced. I called AHS at the beginning to make sure that the issue is part of my policy and then set an appointment. The contractor came and repaired the door. It was a quick and easy fix. The garage door is doing very good now. So far, everything is fine with AHS. We're paying $500-$600 a year and I'm very happy with their service. The only thing that I didn’t like is paying $70-$80 to have someone come check the stuff and decide if it is part of the policy or not. In my opinion, if you have an insurance it should cover the issues. So, I wasn’t very impressed by that. Nonetheless, the customer service and repair was supreme. I would definitely recommend AHS to other people. The system is perfect.

    The most recent claim was with the refrigerator, the washer and the dryer, and we did it all in one claim because they’re the same brand. They’re GE appliances. The washer and the dryer were functioning but the contractor had to reset the error codes. That’s the disadvantage of having everything computer-operated. Their codes have to be reset so they’ll function properly. The refrigerator, on the other hand, broke because the blower motor went out and my family has been without a refrigerator for three weeks now. The contractor is going to fix the refrigerator though. They’re coming back on a warranty re-call but American Home Shield is taking care of it. The contractor doesn't get direction unless American Home Shield gives them authorization to work on stuff. I guess they're a good contractor. They’re just doing their job. So far, everything has been great with the AHS claim representatives as well. I usually call the claims in.

    We've been paying on an AHS home warranty for eight years. We've had to use it twice. The first was a broken water heater. They did repair that, but that was several years ago. I've had the same flooding problem twice in two months. The first time, I called AHS, and they got a contractor out the following day. He said he repaired the problem, but the same flooding occurred again this month. We have damage to drywall in the back of the house and our garage, as well as ruined wood in the garage. After calling them for the second flood, they assigned the same plumber to come again and fix the problem. The plumber was over-booked and couldn't come for two days, so I had to hire my own plumber. I paid $500 to fix the problem out of my own pocket.

    After my own plumber came out, the assigned contractor called me to see if the problem had been fixed or they needed to leave me on the schedule. The contractor informed me that AHS has strict guidelines with how repairs may be made by the contractors. They must gain approval from the from the warranty company before making any repairs, and if there's even a minor discrepancy in the wording about the problem from the initial call to contractor resolution, they will refuse to pay the contractor for their work. They allow the contractor only to do the bare minimum to put a bandaid on the problem instead of fixing issues the proper way.

    This company is, for lack of a better word, a scam and should be investigated by the BBB based on the information I got from one of their service providers. I canceled my contract with them and advise everyone else to do the same. There are far better warranty companies out there that stand by their contract and make repairs in a timely fashion and the right way. AHS is NOT one of them.

    We made a claim on a Monday morning. No Technicians were available in Oklahoma City until Thursday which is nonsense. Oklahoma has incredible temperature extremes, so air conditioning contractors are plentiful here. We spoke with a representative of the warranty company that went on to tell my wife that the high was 75 for the day and they could not get a technician out to us. This is Oklahoma in September were the heat index still gets into 100 degree range.

    Warranty Representatives were not local and left my wife on the phone for over an hour. They continued to argue until we gave up and waited for the Technician to come out 3 days later. Technician came out, informed us that it was our compressor and we would have to wait 5 to 10 days for American Home Shield to ship the parts and the contractor to put them in. Speaking with American Home Shield they were unsympathetic with the the fact that our house hits 90 degrees each day. They refused to expedite shipping on parts or reimburse me for the window unit that I personally had to buy and install into my house to ensure my two dogs were not hurt due to the extreme heat of the house.

    I called 4/11/19, 4/19, 4/28, 5/2, 5/3, 6/17, 8/12, 8/13 and 9/13 for AC repairs. Dispatch ticket number **. My ac was not working instead of calling me back when I was told I would receive a return call from the Escalation dept in 24-48 hrs. On 8/12 & 8/13 I asked to have my own person to come in because the unit keeps leaking water on the floors in the laundry room, bathroom and now 15 ft into the living room and having mold growing up the wall. I was told the same line over and over. The tenant has children and that the floor was damaged and there was mold that had to be cleaned up (even though I know that's responsibility). I dont want to keep having the cost. AHS NEVER offered to allow me to get my own contractor, never offered to get Sears or a local reputable company in the area and never had a supervisor call me back. To this day NO ONE called back.

    I called again today. Finally another guy said I can fax in a request for reimbursement. This is totally and undeniably a real problem that warrants attention from UPPER Management. I ONLY SEE FAVORABLE REVIEWS. I know there's been complaints! My ELDERLY parents were duped out off $3000 from a contractor through AHS. The fire dept had to come out to their house and put out a fire from their new unit installed by AHS contractors. When we called AHS to tell what the fire Dept and the county office reported they could care less. My parents had to ask the contractor for a receipt. They noticed the contractor charged them for 3 $300 permits ($900 total) when he only paid for 2 and only needed 2 for the job. He charged them $600 for a electrician.

    When the work was complete my parents asked who was the electrician that he had to come out to do the work he said he was. Then the fire started and was directly from the installation of the a/c unit. In my opinion AHS would have been responsible for any deaths of family members in that house along with that contractor. In 1 week I'm going to report this to the Attorney General if no one follows up on this issue. I'm also going on every website (Yelp, Google, etc) that I can find to leave a review detailing our experience.

    I requested the service online. Since there is no option to explain exactly what I need which is multiple outlets that are not working, I chose "no electricity in area of the home". When the technician arrived he look at all the outlets that needs to be fixed. There was one GFCI outlet that needed to be reset. That took care of the bathroom outlets, but other areas he checked did not work. After he called the company they told him not to do anything else because there was request for one service. Does that mean I need to request special service request for each single electrical outlet!! I called them and they said they are sorry but I have to make another service request which is another 100$. Awful experience. This is not service. This is stealing and rip off.

    I spent $2800 to replace my a/c system which should have been covered under my home warranty contract. American Home Shield wanted to recharge a 20 year old system which would have cost me $1000 and cost them $100. It made no sense to invest $1000 in a 20 year old system, which their service technician agreed. Therefore, I have filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office.

    I have made several attempts to cancel my contract since we found a much better and flexible company. We haven't used our warranty coverage, at all. As I put in a request to cancel coverage, I was sent an email, requesting that I pay fees. I don't see why it is necessary for us to pay AHS more money in order to cancel a contract, when you're already keeping the money that we've paid! Our monthly fees are not going towards fixing our home, nor will the total amount be refunded to us, so why must I pay more? I could see if you gave me equipment and services, like a cable company, but that's not the case at all! This is definitely a key topic, that MUST be discussed, during the initial quote phone call.

    My dishwasher isn't working. A contractor came out not once but twice. The second time with parts but then couldn't fix it because they couldn't get to the issue. Repair man said if I remove my flooring so they can pull out dishwasher they would come back. He said he would leave the issue open. Then I get an email saying the request was closed. My dishwasher still doesn't work.

    The reps at American Home Shield are helpful to get a claim processed and taken care of. Although I still like to talk to a person, I’m getting more used to filing a claim online. It is easy and it was online that I submitted this claim for the washer. But the first vendor that American Home Shield contracted with couldn’t come out for a whole week. They said that they only come to my area twice a week. So I had to call the warranty company back and let them know, and they were prompt to send somebody else out.

    The person from Reliable Property Solutions came out the next day and it was great. He knew right away what the problem was. They had to order a part and because they had to wait for it to come in, I had to wait another week for them to come out and repair it. But the technician was very quick and efficient. He was great in getting the washer all fixed for me and it’s working great now.

    Our toilet stool in the master bath kept running, and it ran our bill up quite a bit. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone, and the contractor called right away. They came out three times and they were very pleasant. But each time, like if it was on a weekend, they’d be there on a Monday. Each time they'd come back, they thought they had it fixed, and then, it showed up again. But it is great now. It completely stopped. I definitely would recommend American Home Shield to anyone.     The water pump completely stopped, and a guy from Knock Out Pools came and he did something because it is working. He was very nice, excellent and a very professional gentleman. He never determined the issue though. He said that he changed the pressure, but he didn’t explain to me very well what he did. According to him, he didn’t do anything, but I know he made some changes in the pressure, and that appeared to correct the problem. Recently, the water is not coming with force as it was supposed to be coming with force. We did the claim with American Home Shield over the phone, and the lady rep was very nice and with lots of information. So far, my experience has been okay. American Home Shield has been excellent. Their response has been very good.

    The HVAC system wasn't working and I went to American Home Shield online and put the claim in there to get a service tech out. Adam was my technician and he was the owner of the company. I’ve known him from past experiences. It was a great experience because he was good, and we already had a familiarity to him. He had to replace a part, and he was able to fix it the same day.     My AC unit went down. I called American Home Shield and Action Air Conditioning and Heating got out here. It took them two to three days for the whole process to play out, and then they fixed the AC. The contractors were good and the AC has been working fine. American Home Shield is not bad. I called them before and was gonna use them. Luckily, when the AC went out, it wasn't peak of the season, and it still was a two to three day delay. But when I called them in the peak of the season the previous year, they told me they had to send a company from Florida, and that it was gonna be like five or some days. I was like, "Man, I can't do that." I had a young child, and at that time, my wife was nine months pregnant. It was like right about the time to give birth and the AC went out. I ended up having to just pay out of pocket to see it through.

    When you pay that warranty, I guess you assume that if you have a problem, you’re gonna get a little bit better of a response time. Then you’re kinda stuck to using them if it’s something serious because you paid all this money into the warranty. You paid for the thing so if something happens, it’s available to be used. It's unfortunate. It's just that they're a big company and they only have so many vendors in the area. And that was probably the worst time of the year to call for an air conditioner call. I'm a contractor myself. I understand when it's busy, it's busy and you could only do so much. AHS had to be able to work on improving something and to have better options. I live in South Carolina and my first option was one state away, which is really only an hour drive. Then my second option was two states away. It was unfortunate that there was no one in my area that could have attended to me a little quicker.

    When we bought the house, a contract with American Home Shield came with it and we’ve kept it ever since. They’ve been with us all that time and we’ve always been happy. Our air conditioning went out recently and Ruiz Air Conditioning and Heating came out to service it. I called them on a Friday evening, so I figured they probably wouldn’t be here ’til Monday. It said on the report that I would hear from them in 24 hours but I didn’t. So, I called American Home Shield and they called the tech for me on Sunday, and he said he would be here Monday morning, and he was. He's been here a couple of times and he’s a very nice man. I have already recommended AHS to friends and my son-in-law.

    The contractors sent by American Home Shield are hit or miss, but the service is fine. Recently I submitted a claim online, and I didn't get any response back from the contractor that AHS selected. When I called, they managed to schedule someone else. The contractor company called me within an hour, and then one of their technicians came out that afternoon.

    Our clothes washer doesn’t fill all the way and my wife said the knob that you turn to get it to the right level was stuck. I filed a claim to American Home Shield online and our interaction with the contractor that came out was good. However, he said that the washer was not going to fill any fuller than it filled and my wife said that it should go up higher. Of the three months that we've been with American Home Shield, this is the only claim we’ve had with them. And my wife was a bit unhappy that the guy couldn’t find the problem but that was not American Home Shield’s fault.

    I had a refrigerator repaired about two weeks ago, and the same problem came back up. So I just called American Home Shield to reschedule with the same company, which is Vector Appliances. The reps knew exactly who it was and got it all done. The contractor came right on time and got everything done. I'm overall happy with AHS. But sometimes it's a little bit too corporate. About five weeks ago, I called in, and the company they gave me didn't even exist anymore. And then, that turned into my problem because they weren't showing up. So then, I couldn't get AHS to send another company out. They said, "We can't send you one out until that company contacts you because it's assigned with them." So we waited for three weeks. American Home Shield and I couldn't get ahold of them. But in American Home Shield's system, if that ever happens, that turns into their customer's problem.

    I couldn't stop calling back, saying that I'm paying American Home Shield, I'm not paying the vendor to come out to work on my refrigerator. And then three weeks later, they finally gave me a different company, and they came out within hours. And there's no timeframe for that contractor to come out. So once it's assigned to them, it's assigned to them. And they can't reassign it until they come and look at it. So the only way they can reassign it is if that company comes out to look at the refrigerator, and then they can't fix it, or they say it's something and you want a second opinion or something.

    Overall AHS has been great. But it hasn't been just smooth. And then, the other thing I don't like is they have different call centers, and I have no access to know which call center it is. Some call centers have more power than other ones. There are ones that are just like, they can just press a button and that's it, and other ones can actually help you with the problem. Sometimes people, when they work in big businesses, they don't do anything to cross the line, they just do whatever so they can keep their job.

    But then, sometimes the customer, in this case myself, I stick them in that specific situation because I'm trying to explain something. They understand, but instead of doing the right thing, they just don't wanna go cross and lines and lose their job, and then I wasn't getting what I'm paying for. And if I'm trying to explain what they're doing wrong, there's nowhere to go and explain in it and get the job done. And I don't have time to just randomly start calling American Home Shield and giving my own surveys.

    We've had American Home Shield since July of this year. Our experience with a claim was good. The main line on the outside in the front yard backed up all the way into the house. It was an emergency so I submitted the claim online, but I didn't get a response within the next day. The online submission was pretty easy, but I didn't know how long it was gonna take. I called in ‘cause my kid’s couldn't take a shower or anything. The representative over the phone was professional. They cancelled the online order and the person on the phone set it up as an emergency. The contractor checked it and he said that if it was backed up at all location in the house, it was backed up in the main line. So, he came out and cleaned it out. It has been good since he did. He was pretty professional. He came in and got the job done really quick.

    AHS is convenient to use on my rental properties. If you are a one-man shop like me, you got 15 houses in a city, you need stuff done, and you ain’t got time to hunt down a serviceman who you trust and rely on, you could call American Home Shield because I know the people working for them all got to be trustworthy. I have AHS for over 20 years now and I've used them for at least 10 properties. Back then, the deductible was $50. I had them put in a whole furnace one time for $50 for one of my houses, so it eliminates me hunting down a serviceman. I can just call AHS and don’t have to worry about having somebody at the house.

    Recently, I submitted a claim for my AC online and I got emails from them. Everything was great and the tech they sent out fixed the problem. He was excellent and even gave me some ideas on how to keep the thing running the way it should run. And he was courteous, on time, and got me covered. All in all, I would recommend AHS. But they should improve the wait time to get someone on the phone when you wanna talk to someone. The automation is good, but it doesn’t work good enough. When you’re trying to get somebody on the phone, sometimes it can be a lengthy process.

    Oak Valley Appliance, Inc. came and serviced our appliance. They were very professional, responded promptly, and did the repairs as expected. The timer was not working on the washing machine. The service guy came out three times. He worked on it three times. He finally got it working. He had to talk to the manufacturer to figure out what was wrong with it because it never occurred before to anybody. They had to order the part from Fresno. It had to be shipped and then he had to wait for it. Each time he came, he was personable, clean, and took care of the appliance perfectly. So far, so great.     The pump that takes the water out for the condensation was really yucky and dirty. And then the line that moves the water from the AC unit itself down through the line was backed up and clogged. American Home Shield sent out Ambient Air and they were awesome. I actually called the contractor before they had a chance to call me, and they were out the next day. And that’s not common here. Sometimes, here, we'd get, “Yeah, we can be there in a week.” Whatever date he'd come out to fix it. But the fact that we live in Tucson, Arizona where it’s really, really hot, AHS's contractor was able to get out. The guy was really amazing. It was kind of that situation where repair wasn’t necessary, in the sense it’s something that I could’ve taken care of. But the tech was great.

    The tech showed what the problem was and said, "Going forward, if you have this issue, here are little things you can do. If it doesn’t work, call us back and we’ll come out.” He knew exactly what the problem was within the first two minutes of me telling him what was going on. I was hoping though that the AC would get a little boost and work a bit more efficiently, but I haven’t had a single problem. In fact, when he got there, my house was 85, 90 degrees-ish. And within an hour of the guy leaving, my house was already rapidly cooling down.

    Right now, I have a weird pay going on at my work so I wasn’t able to make my monthly payment right away like I had wanted to. The person I talked to on the phone was great with understanding it. I was told, “If you don’t pay it by this date, that’s when your coverage is 100% termed and you have to start all over,” which I actually need to update my payment. I had to take it off of an auto-withdraw because of my work schedule. Nevertheless, I’ve told both my parents they need to sign up for AHS with our house.

    American Home Shield came with the house we bought a house. The house requires a lot of work so we're using AHS to its fullest extent. A number of people from a number of different services have come out in the last month and all of them have been great. The only one we really had a problem with was Temprite, the HVAC people, and it wasn't them themselves. I believe AHS forgot about us. We have a very old HVAC system and they had to fabricate a part. Two weeks went by when I finally called and asked them what was going on. They said they finished their job with us, which they did not. They did come out since then, and it's finished now, but at the time, we were hanging around in limbo waiting to see what would happen.

    So far, I'm pleased with AHS and we fully intend to reup when the year is over. Their service is comprehensive and I don't need to worry. For the amount that it's gonna cost to reup, I know that for the following year, anything that goes wrong is mostly covered. AHS has been very efficient on the phone. Their reps have been very quick to send somebody to see the claim and then quick to assign some workman to the claim. So, everything is happening the way it should. I have recommended it to some of my friends.

    We've had the warranty for about a year and a half. Initially, I received something in the mail, explaining a little bit about the warranty, and when I called, it sounded good. So we decided to go with American Home Shield. I submit claims over the phone, generally, and I get response back within the next day or so from the technicians that are coming out to look at my problem. Generally, it happens fairly quickly and although sometimes, it takes more than a few days, it does get taken care of.

    I have an older model dishwasher that had been in the house for many years and it just quit working. When the technicians couldn’t get it working by replacing one part, they called and talked to American Home Shield. They basically said it would be better to replace the whole unit and that’s what happened. They brought a brand new unit in, installed it and did a great job. I really appreciated it. They were courteous and professional too. They pulled the unit out, actually got it on a dolly and got it out of the house, no problem. They also cleaned up after they did the install. It all went well.

    Our AC unit stopped blowing cold air and it was making a very loud groaning noise. We turned it off until we could get one of the repairmen out here to have it fixed. My husband called in the claim and got through an interactive system. A lot of times, we don't get a human and it is frustrating for him because he has to go through the prompts. When he gets a hold of a rep, as with any call system nowadays, a lot of that have been farmed out to other countries. So when you get a person, English is not their native language and sometimes it is very hard to understand them.

    On the claim, there were two contractors who came out. They asked us to turn the system on, and it came on and groaned. They figured it out, and they were able to fix it. It was very nice. They were very helpful and very prompt. American Home Shield is true to their word. Their price is also reasonable, and they have a quick turnaround time. Our AC is cooling nice and well, especially in this hot Georgia weather.

    My hot water heater was leaking. I called American Home Shield about it and the contractors came out. They saw that the thing was leaking and they said that AHS would have to order the hot water heater, and when it came in, then they could come by and put it on. They also told me that I needed $404 worth of upgrades to make it up-to-date to what the standards are today. And that I would need to pay that once they come out to replace the hot water heater. The hot water heater took forever to come in. After two or three weeks, I called AHS and asked them if it came in yet. They said that it just came in that day and that somebody would be out to put it in. It was a long time in between because it was leaking, and I didn’t want 50 gallons of water on my floor.

    The contractor that came out was very friendly. But as soon as he walked in the house he asked me is, “Do you have $404?” I said, "This is the third time you guys have asked me that. Why are you asking me again?” He said, “This is what I’m supposed to do.” I now have a brand new water heater. It works and it’s not leaking. So far, my experience with American Home Shield is okay, it's mostly technical. I would recommend them.

    My refrigerator was a little too warm. It would cool vegetable, but my milk kept going bad in it the week before the expiration date which was probably indicative that something was wrong. I ended up calling the claim in and got an AHS customer service person. They were able to get information and entered it in for me. Vector Appliances serviced my refrigerator.

    The technician tried to do his job, but he just seemed like was having a bad day or something. He wasn’t horrible nor did he do anything terrible or rude, his tone was just a little short. He looked at the fridge and I left him alone while he was doing the fridge thing. Afterwards, he said that it was missing a part and he didn't have it. He had to go and get it and just left. But the refrigerator was definitely colder, but it was so cold that things were starting to freeze inside my fridge instead. So whatever the part that he needed to get, it had something to do with this. I waited for a week and a half and then I ended up calling in. The lady who was answered for the company was really nice. She said that they got the part and that they could get someone out here.

    When they replaced the part, I had to clean up my whole fridge ‘cause things were defrosting in there, and then the water started running. Then the inside of my refrigerator was starting to get a little flooded. During the time when things were freezing in my refrigerator, my water dispenser stopped working. I had to call again that and they had to send someone else out again and they figured out that whenever it froze, it cracked something inside the refrigerator. So I had to wait a little while longer for them to get another part and replace it.

    Now, my refrigerator’s working great, but it was a multi-step kind of experience to get it to that point. This situation had its own little inherent problems. In the solving of the problem, everyone was very professional, helpful and they did the best they can. I also wasn't charged every time I had to call them back in to fix stuff. It was an ongoing problem and it was taken care of.

    I’m a manager for a property. The homeowner and myself filed a claim to American Home Shield regarding an electric issue. Everything went fine. They sent a great technician, and all is well. The tenants had no problem. The only thing is when we have an issue about something, AHS never seem to resolve it right away. They kept sending the same person. This happened too with the refrigerator. You never could get to a manager. They try everything in their power not to go to a manager.     Thus far, I'm very happy with American Home Shield. I have the service in Houston and I'm gonna keep using it. They send me the name of their contractors. However, they have things they cover that they're saying they don't cover. Still, they do the best they can. I had an AC issue one time and Three Brothers came to do service. They checked the machine and they said I was covered for the air conditioner problem. However, they said that next time, when the pipe is clogged, I need to do the plumbing. So, I don't know what's going on. Still, generally, their techs do good service. They review the whole machine and check for other trouble.

    Recently, I called AHS for a dishwasher that was still leaking. The last company they sent to fix it didn't go a good job. Techs came to our house and replaced a piece but then it's still leaking. They didn't remove the dishwasher, check out everything and then put it back. Instead, they took it the easy way. I prefer AHS to send me a Sears technician when they send me a contractor because my brand is Sears.

    We called for repair for our central AC on 08/13/19 and paid our service fee. On 08/15/19 the AHS contractor came to our home and looked at our unit. He left no paperwork. He called the next day to say he would need $1200 - $1500 to remove oil furnace and place it in our courtyard to evaluate the AC repair. I asked if the charge included replacing our oil furnace and he said: "No, we don't work on oil furnaces". I immediately called AHS and requested another contractor. On 08/19/19 their 2nd contractor came out. He wrote up a report and had me sign it. We agreed to remove some drywall so he could have clear access to the AC. This has been done. The 2nd contractor finally emailed me on 09/10/19 to tell he he hasn't responded to my calls or email because AHS has not approved his repair order.

    I call AHS for updates daily. Every day they tell me they have to contact the 2nd contractor and give them 24 hours. Most days I am on hold for 20 - 40 minutes and then disconnected. I have kept records of all calls and AHS personnel names, what was said & how long these calls took. In the meantime, in FL my AC is broken for a month tomorrow and no one at AHS will help me. We have had a contract with AHS for over 10 years and previous to this experience have been pleased with the service.

    Updated on 10/28/2019: They are still a fraud! Do not buy a warranty from them! AHS sent another technician out after I submitted a bad review, and he stated some part I can't pronounce, (some kind of coil) needed to be replaced as well as the entire unit outside. AHS still refuses to fix the AC unit after the initial work order was submitted. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH AHS.

    Original Review: I purchased their home warranty and when the AC went out, the company they sent said the unit needed to be replaced. AHS keeps saying they never received the report saying it needed to be replaced. Now every time I call AHS they say they will call me back and never do, or they put me on hold and hang up on me.     I have tried for over a week to get my "covered" refrigerator repaired with AHS and the vendor they selected, Sharper Service. I live in Spokane WA and the vendor is from Oregon. First AHS contacted a vendor who never called. They made no effort to follow up and make sure their vendor contacted me. I finally called them back and they assigned a new vendor (Sharper Service). The tech they sent had a bad back and could do virtually nothing.

    A few days later they sent another tech who had to have the first tech meet him to figure out what was wrong and parts needed to fix it. The parts were ordered and a date for the following Thursday to do the repair. The parts are all here at my house but now the tech is out sick and no one else can do the work according to AHS. I have paid the service call fee and the warranty was prepaid - but no service has taken place. I can't get anyone at AHS to get this resolved. I just left a voicemail for Rex Tibbens president of AHS and he had not responded either. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON A WARRANTY FROM AHS.

    The run around with the company assigned to me A Advanced has been the EXTREMELY HORRIBLE. I had to call them to get them to come out, since it's warranty work I guess isn't worth a lot to them, so they can't give you a time. They told me it was from 8am to 8pm....How can a fulltime person go by a time frame like that. So the day of the appointment A Advanced showed up at 9PM ...Smelled my home up with old cigarettes smoke smells, walked in with his shoes on through my house. Now it's Thursday and they tell me once AGAIN they can't give me a time frame that it's 8 to 8. Please tell me how you can work like that? It's been the biggest runaround with this. I'm about done. If this company shows up at 9pm tonight I'll be in bed and I will Cancel this home warranty. It's not worth the time waiting when I pay for something that's hurting me more than helping me.     We purchased a home and we had our locks rekeyed through American Home Shield. I got spare keys as well. The contractor was great. It took a while for him to rekey everything because we had two different lock types and he went and bought locks and just charged me what the locks cost and rekeyed them. We did the claim over the phone. The AHS rep was wonderful. For some reason, and it may be my fault, it wouldn’t take our debit card when we were processing the payment. I tried it twice, my debit card and my wife’s, and I finally ended up using a credit card. I got emails that it hadn’t been paid and I'm freaking out with that, but I used the credit card and everything went through fast.

    I was told this was a good company for home warranty. My A/C otherwise known as my HVAC system...HVAC (Heating ventilation air conditioning) appeared to not be working well when it came to cooling our home. I called them, paid the $125 service fee and they had someone come out a few days later. So far so good. He worked on the AC unit and found some minor problems and corrected them and left. The next day our house was somewhat cooler but still not right. By the 3rd day it was back to the way it was before the service call.

    Called them again and they set up another appointment and the same tech came out. He looked things over and said it all looked good. I suggested checking the ventilation under the house. Bingo! Some of it had come detached. The tech said the work order was only for the A/C and we would have to have AHS submit a work order to have them work on the ventilation. So we did. Called them I did. They said NO problem. NO new service charge was needed. They tried to call them to set up an appointment but they were closed. They said they would call them and get back with me.

    Well some time had passed with no calls. Then when I was out of state they tried to reach me. I was unable to take the call. I called a couple days later. They said they would contact the service company to have them come out. The service company called me the same day and said the work order was for the A/C unit and not the ventilation. I called AHS and they said that because the tech WASHED my coils it was considered a repair (who knew that washing was a repair? I repair my SUV weekly I guess) and therefor the work order has been completed. For them the send out another tech to work on the ventilation they would need to create a NEW work order and charge me ANOTHER $125.

    After arguing with the person on the other end (ever call has been answered by a woman somewhere in the Orient or Philippines) I asked to speak with a supervisor. Never got one. Was transferred to someone who handles "escalated calls". After a lot of back and forth she told me because I initially called in to complain about my A/C not working then the work order was for ONLY the A/C unit. NOT THE ENTIRE HVAC system. After much bickering back and forth and because they found where I was told there would be no service fee...she said they would not charge one but still wanted my cc info. They have it on file and will use that but assured me that no fee would be applied. We shall wait and see.

    So supposedly I will be contacted by the service company to set up an appointment. My advice to you if you use this company and have a "repair" try washing it first...no really...I would be vague as in what the problem is so they can't pigeon hole you into 1 item in what might be just a small unit of a bigger system or problem.

    It was a horrible experience working with American Home Shield on getting a repair that wasn’t done properly. It wasn’t within 60 days but it was still within six months, and it was a defective part. I spent two to three hours trying to get somebody to talk to me that wasn’t in the Philippines. I’d go on social media to get any sort of response, and that came back negative. I had to find the CEO or head of the company and send them an email, which finally got some response, and finally got it taken care of at no charge. And then, I got billed for the service fee, which took more of my time to go back and find Annette who took care of it for me, and wiped it out.

    American Home Shield was extremely poor in customer service. Their people in the Philippines have no understanding of trying to pass it along. I was told that I could not get it passed along because no one was gonna help me. They worked off a script and they didn’t care. At the end of August, I dropped American Home Shield.

    My ice maker broke and I tried to do my claims over the phone, but it was difficult, so I ended up doing it online. It was uncomfortable. I gave a whole bunch of information to one person, like the address and all the details, for five minutes, and then they connected me to someone else and they asked me all the same questions over again. I finally got frustrated and hung up. "I already told you that. I already told you that." And they said, "No, you told somebody else." So I finally just filed it online. It took a couple of weeks to get the appointment. But when Sears came out and fixed it everything went well. The contractor was prompt, took it all apart, fixed it up and put it back together and it's working just fine. I've been with AHS for two years and I'm quite happy with it.

    I've been with American Home Shield since 2003. In fact, this is my third house with them. I do both online or with a representative whenever I submit claims, but primarily with the representative. The reps I spoke with were professional and courteous. I haven't had any issues with them. When one of the fan motor of my AC went bad, the contractor that came out was really good. It took about a week to get my AC running only because it is so old. They didn't have the piece so they had to order it. The part came out about a week and I was without AC then but it wasn't too bad since I got an AC upstairs that works. The AC works perfectly now and it was a good experience.

    I had a gas leak in my furnace at my rental in Columbus, Ohio. The gas company came out, confirmed that the issue was a gas leak and shut off the gas to the furnace. I called American Home Shield to do a claim and they sent a company out. That company said that they weren't gonna fix my furnace and that I should call them in the fall. That was not acceptable so I had AHS get me a second opinion.

    Foxcroft HVAC called to let me know that they had been asked to do the job. Their tech asked me what had transpired prior to him being called for a second opinion. I asked him to call my tenant directly so that they could match their schedules. Foxcroft also asked us to wait for a little bit because they were dealing with a lot of high temperatures and air conditioning going out. They asked me if I minded if it waited. I didn’t mind, and my tenants didn’t mind because the air conditioning at my house was working. They came out as scheduled and took care of my problem. Their tech was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Now, everything’s working again. If I have another furnace situation, I'm gonna ask for Foxcroft. I have three homes and I have American Home Shield on all three properties. As a real estate agent, I rarely ever recommend anybody else.

    My icemaker had been kinda on the fritz for some time in my fridge, and it finally gave out. I think the gears broke in it. The contractor that was sent by American Home Shield replaced the icemaker. Our interaction was fine. He was to the point. He was on time, and the replacement took like barely half an hour and he was done, and it’s been working fine since.

    I'm on my second year with American Home Shield. My only thing with American Home Shield is I started at like $22 a month, and now it’s like 27 a month. If it keeps going up, I'm gonna start searching other companies because between the monthly fee that I pay and $125 for the contractor to come in the door is a pretty good chunk of money. I understand that it still is probably less based on what he gave me. He only gave me one sheet of paper that shows me what that would’ve cost straight out of pocket. I’m still kinda saving if I need the help first off. It’s still reasonable considering there could be work on my appliances. I still feel better having it than not. In general, everybody’s been very prompt. Once you get the request, you get the call very quickly to schedule. The scheduling happens quickly.

    One of our air conditioning systems went out and I tried to submit the claim online the night before but it kinda got confusing because I have three air conditioning units at my house and we had some pretty bad luck. We had one go out and then another one went out, so they contacted the AC man who did it the first time. It was somehow put in wrong, so I had to re do it the next day but it went good. This was the most recent claim and everything went fine. But the most recent repair that I got yesterday was for the refrigerator. They did not complete it so they had to come back and they got it up and running. All the contractors that AHS has sent have all been good and the AC guy was great. He came out quickly and just always did us right. I was very satisfied and everything went well.

    I usually speak with an American Home Shield representative when I submit a claim because I make sure. I've had a couple of bad experiences so I have to make sure whatever I'm ordering is covered and if it's not, there's no point. I had a guy come in, took my 75 bucks, and said that he would fix the issue which I called American Home Shield about and they said it was not covered. So, what was the point of spending my $75? There had also been a lot of back and forth. We had an issue with the stove and the tech came in but he only fixed the motor and the stove was still not going up and down. They said we had to give another 75 to which we said no. They haven't fixed the problem. Then, they had to call the person and then we explained again.

    The contractors that AHS has sent out have been very good and professional. My most recent claim was for a pool pump that wasn't working. The contractor that came out did an excellent job. I'm very satisfied. American Home Shield does a good job, but the problem with them is nobody can explain how my bill went from $76 to $87. This year, my contract expired and they automatically changed my payment without letting me know. Apart from that, I have no issues. I had this company in Indiana in my last house and in the five years that we lived there, we had the service. And when we bought this house, we had some other company. When that contract expired, I immediately hire American Home Shield and then we went from there. Overall, it's a very good company and I would recommend them.

    American Home Shield rocks. Our claim for the washing machine has been all settled and they’re delivering a new one to us on the 19th. I’ve usually done claims over the phone and the reps have all been terrific. It's just that when you call, you press one, press two, do this and do that then eventually, you get somebody. So I figured out how to go online and get it done right away. I usually like to talk to people but never mind. Going through the website is easier.

    The technician had come out for the washing machine and he tried to fix it. But he said that it was too old. They couldn't get any parts for it. He told me to let him know If we have another problem. Well, the next day, it locked its door and we couldn’t get the clothes out. By messing with it, I finally got it to go into a different cycle and unlock the door but that was it. I said, "We’re not using this anymore." The approval for the new washing machine took three days. They told me what they had available and I picked one. We decided to get a top loader because we were more familiar with that. The delivery people, by the way, have been absolutely terrific as well.

    When the warranty runs out, I’m gonna renew it for another year because the next thing that’ll go will be the furnace or something else. I’m also gonna put American Home Shield on the house that I just lived in. I just leased it. I highly recommend it too. In fact, I’ve told everybody that I talk to. American Home Shield has been terrific and anybody that doesn’t do that is a fool.

    We had an appliance claim with American Home Shield for the refrigerator, and this was our fifth service call of the same problem. I’ve had four companies come out. I had a positive experience with Mr. Appliance. The issue in my case is we have an on-going problem with the refrigerator, and it’s not clear if I might have to go to the extent of having the manufacturer send someone out. It seems to be a thoroughly complicated issue. And so, Mr. Appliance was not able to resolve the issue, but they did tell me that it was their professional opinion that this was gonna likely involve a major repair, and their recommendation was to contact the manufacturer and see if they would send one of their reps out, because they would under the circumstances. Mr. Appliance felt like the scope of this repair was beyond their capability to fix it.

    Mr. Appliance was upfront about their ability, and what they could do, what they couldn’t do, and the fact that they didn’t feel comfortable in trying to take on fixing what they thought was the problem because it’s such a large scale. They told me pretty much that we need a new fridge, and it’s only five years old, so it’s still under manufacturer’s warranty. So, that’s why they were saying like, “Yeah, you might need to go that route because you have kind of an unusual problem.”

    For that particular visit, the experience went well. What happened was, I reopened an old claim because those folks have been out previously, had replaced some parts a couple of times, recharged the coolant in the refrigerator, and I thought the problem was resolved, but then we kept having these weird mechanical issues, and finally figured out it was probably related to the issue we had two months ago. With American Home Shield, I was able to call them and request to reopen the latest ticket on the refrigerator, and they accepted that. So, I had a good experience with them in that regard.

    With American Home Shield, I like that they’re very responsive when you call for a repair. They’re relatively quick to assign somebody for the first round. But what I will really ding them on is related to a separate issue I’ve had. On my entire experience with them, I have had a really tough time on a separate claim, getting them to coming to an agreement with them when we had to replace an appliance with regards to the replacement product. It was impossible for me to get on the phone and have a verbal conversation with someone in their department that makes the decisions on the replacement products and the feature set or what’s the like-kind equivalent when they’re replacing an appliance. It took me several calls to their call center to finally get an email address of a department that appeared to handle that.

    I rejected their initial offer of replacement product because I told them it wasn’t a like-kind of product. I also told them that the dollar amount they offered me as an alternative wasn’t sufficient because it didn’t correlate to what my research yielded, the like-kind of replacement would cost. I spent a year arguing with them back and forth or trying to, and it was like I would send emails to them and would just go off into Lalaland, and there was no response back. I even tried to contact them by phone and via email to request arbitration because that’s in the contract, and it was only after I got to the point of threatening them with a lawsuit and calling their headquarters, and asking them for their physical address so I could know where to send the process over, that I finally got a response.

    It was ridiculous. About two days after I made that call, I got an email back from their department that handles this process, with a new counteroffer that ended at $300 increase, and then from their part, got an offer, a different model replacement, and I ended up accepting the model replacement. We finally came through a point of agreeing on it. I had sent them photographs. I’ve sent them documentation like PDF pages from manufacturers, not marketing material, but product information like owner’s manuals. I’ve sent them examples of, “Hey, this is what I had, but no longer manufactured. Here are some comparable devices from other manufacturers.”

    I put a lot of time into making my pitch that I can convince that I’m right, and they’re wrong since what they were offering initially was not an actual representation of what they need to replace. All in all, I kinda was just mouthing off them. I tried to be civil about this whole thing, but it got really frustrating. If they have anything more complicated than their process for handling these grievances, like up until the point where you say, “Oh, yes. I’ll take that deal, just replace my whatever,” or, “Please send a rep out. Thanks. Have a nice day,” it’s a disaster. There should be a clear process of how to handle a complex claim where there’s a disagreement between the homeowner and AHS. They could have been handled with a phone call or a simple email exchange where I’m somewhat acknowledged, “Mr. **, yeah, thanks for reaching out. I see what you’re talking about and we agree with you or we don’t.”

    The other thing that bothered me was there is no information in that contract that tells you how to initiate the arbitration process or how that works. So, it’s a very vague statement and I happen to have some experience in government contracts because I’m used to looking at contracts and getting stuck or poking people with these gotcha clauses.

    AHS' is horribly written because there is no process. What I’m forced to do as a homeowner is go to the same process that you go through everything else, to call up the same phone number or email to the same email address, and I’m getting somebody who’s probably in the Philippines who really can’t do anything to help me other than push it up the chain, and it goes into who knows where, if anywhere. So, it’s a very frustrating experience from a homeowner’s perspective, and it kinda make me wanna redo my policy, which I did, because partly because I wanted to keep the train going on this particular issue, and also because they have benefited me in other respects.

    I had American Home Shield when I lived in a different house. Back then it was 1985, and our heater went out, and they charged me 39 bucks for a brand-new heater. So I also got them this time around. Three things broke inside of a month and I did all three claims with American Home Shield online. The contractors have all been great. They solved the problems on the first try.

    One of the claims was for the dishwasher and right now, it’s working pretty much the way it was when we first got it. This is a brand-new house and the dishwasher was just installed. We had a warranty for a year, and after that ran out, I came back to AHS. It just needed a good cleaning, and the contractor took care of that and showed us what to do to keep it clean. And then after that, there were still some stuff built up in there and it started making weird noises. By the time they came back out, it was pretty much done.

    I called American Home Shield for my refrigerator and the claims rep told me that she would call me within a day or so. The first person that came out said that he couldn't do anything with the refrigerator because he could not find the serial number. The tech from Stuart's Appliances was the second person that came out. He called me the next day after they set up again, and he said he would come out on a time that was usable for me. He looked at the refrigerator, and he also could not find the serial number, and there was numerous things that needed to be done. He ended up replacing the whole refrigerator. I had to go for about a week and a half without the refrigerator because I had to select the refrigerator and wait for them to order it, and then send it to me.

    Everything was okay with Happy Bear, the contractor for the AC Unit, but I would like to exclude from American Home Shield’s service providers the first one that they sent, which was Consolidated Mechanical. I have two units and they identified that one of the compressors needed to be changed. That was totally false. When they came on the 26th, I asked them on which unit they were gonna change the compressor. The technician was wrong. They have already started to change it but I declined it right there. They gave me an invoice saying that I declined the compressor installation and that the office will refund the money. But they already charged me almost $1,400 on my bill. If I trusted those people, they would have changed a compressor that was workable. When I called initially, the one that you turn the AC off and on was probably working and the thermostat didn't work properly, but they didn't replace even the thermostat.

    I hired somebody out and I paid a trusted company that used to do my maintenance for the unit. Larson Air Conditioning here in Phoenix came, and nothing was wrong. I had to pay $100 and whatever they charged me for the service for diagnostic. I called American Home Shield and I asked for a second opinion from their side because they wouldn’t trust outsiders. They might say that whoever I hire might not be reliable and they still trusted the first one. AHS sent Happy Bear and the guy tested everything. He said that the compressor didn't need to be changed and everything was working. There was no problem to begin with, but he was able to confirm the second opinion that I got.

    American Home Shield should take an action against Consolidated Mechanical because they’ll send these people to some other customer. Also, they were not supposed to give you an invoice right there for $1,400, which I still have. I’m dissatisfied with AHS because I’ve been on the phone with them and it was just very hard for them to understand the situation. When I encountered these issues, I asked why I should pay $1,400. They transferred me to different departments and I escalated to the supervisor. They were supposed to call me back but nobody did. I did everything on my own until I solved the problem. I’m very disappointed with the customer service.

    This was the best experience that I’ve had with American Home Shield. The biggest gripe that I have with most of my claims is that with some of the contractors that American Home Shield uses, you’re just not a priority. That’s what made this go around so great because I was really a priority and I appreciated that. The representative that I called at American Home Shield seemed to have more understanding and compassion for what was going on. The AC had stopped blowing cold air. I went outside and the fan wasn’t working so the compressor went out. The representative really tried to resolve the issue.

    In fact, there were two representatives – the one who took the initial call and the one who took the second call to authorize the replacement of the compressor – and they were both great. The experience was outstanding. The contractor who came out was very professional too. Everything seems to be working great for now. The AC has been awesome.

    The blower motor on my AC was not working. It’s an Armstrong motor. I filed a claim with American Home Shield the next day after it quit running. Their reps are always nice when I call in. The guy had to order a part which he did the next day. Then in three days, he came and put it in. We had to open the windows to get all the air we could, but we made it. The AC is now working. I’ve had American Home Shield for a long time and I’ve never had any problem out of them.

    I noticed that our air conditioner went out when I got home from work on a Tuesday. We called that evening and told them that we needed service for our air conditioner. Everything is pretty much automated. But it was not gonna work. We needed to know who was gonna come and when. So the next day, we called American Home Shield and they said that Total Air Care was going to come out and that we could call them and find out when exactly they were going to do that, which we did.

    Total Air Care said they couldn't come out until Friday, which was unacceptable. My husband called and spoke with someone at American Home Shield, and they told him that if they were to get somebody else, they would have to cancel the appointment we have for Friday and it would be a 50-50 chance of whether or not they could get somebody to come in. It was crazy. I'm sorry but we couldn't accept that. I called back to American Home Shield and I explained the problem to the lady. I told her it was 100 degrees out here. We couldn't wait until Friday. I asked if there was anybody else and she heard what I said.

    She said she would get on the phone and find out. I told her I shouldn't have to cancel this appointment to get somebody else to come. I needed to know who were all the people that they deal with, and I would call and find out if they have an opening where they can get us in right away because it was an emergency. The lady told me I wouldn't have to do that and to let her call. She said she would put me on hold and she would call and find out if they can get somebody else to come right away. I was on hold for about 10 minutes then she came back on and said Total Air Care was going to come out between 2:00 and 4:00 that day. And I thanked her for that. She went above and beyond. She took the time and I was very appreciative of that. She understood.

    They had given me a 2:00 to 4:00 window, but the gentleman actually got there at 2:05. He looked at the AC and was very professional and nice. He thought it was the compressor and he explained to me. He said he would change it out and he did. But a few minutes later, it went out and he said, "Oops, it's not the compressor." He looked at it again and said it was the motor. He had a motor on him so he changed it out and had me back running. He was there maybe an hour with that.

    The AC was not blowing at all and we had just moved in the house. We were wondering how long it was gonna be before we could get a contractor to fix it. Then our realtor reminded us that we have the American Home Shield contract so we’re glad we had it and we’re very pleased with the job. It was also the realtor who said American Home Shield was a good company and that although other people had had some problems, those were corrected pretty readily.

    We were surprised because we had a contract with American Home Shield many years ago and we weren’t quite satisfied. But this time, they were very good in letting us know that the problem was gonna be taken care of and that somebody was gonna come almost immediately. The technician who came did a great job too. He let me know in advance what time he was gonna be here and he showed up at that time. He came in, inspected the unit and immediately went to the wiring. There were about 15 wires connected from the unit and as he was testing them, he came across the reason for the failure. I couldn't believe how quickly he was able to determine the problem. He installed a new thermostat and the AC worked fine after that. We hope it will continue that way. Thank you very much for providing a good service.

    There was a leakage in my AC unit. I called American Home Shield and they gave me a contractor who refused to come out over the weekend. So, AHS got me Best Way Mechanical. The tech who came around told me quite enough about what was going on. However, the lady whom I spoke with went above what I expected to repair my AC at my own cost. I asked her if I was expected to pay that cost upfront. She then said that money would be going to Best Way. I said okay thinking that when Best Way calls me, we were supposed to work it out. Thus far, I'm satisfied with service but the issue has not been fixed. The AC is still not working as it's supposed to be working.     I had initiated a warranty repair claim on my washer/dryer and refrigerator and AHS dispatched a repair order to a contractor. However, they failed to order a repair for the fridge and no repairman was scheduled. I called their customer service after confirming with the contractor (Sears) that they did not receive a repair order and spent 40 minutes on the line with an international call center rep. His name was Juan (his accent was Indian) and was not able to comprehend my issue well. I went in circles trying to explain that Sears never received an order while Juan told me I had to pay the deductible again for the repair that never happened, and now had to be scheduled a second time. It became my fault that the initial order was made for a refrigerator/icemaker and not a refrigerator even though that was a result of a call to a previous international rep who made the order.

    I was put on hold for 15min twice and the issue was finally resolved with Juan setting up a new contractor to repair my fridge. Due to the mistakes made prior, I called the contractor and found much of the info provided by Juan was inaccurate ranging from the contact phone number (he confirmed twice with me my number) to the issue itself (he told the contractor my fridge shelf was leaking???). To sum it up, the customer service was not helpful nor able to comprehend my issue in order to solve it quickly and accurately and much of that was due to cultural and language differences of their service representatives.

It has taken over 48 hours on an AC Service Call and still, as of today, no AC Service Tech has contacted me when they will be here even after a call to the vendor assigned. The extra for just water heater would cost us more than the entire warranty. I told them to go get lost. That was end of my warranty with AHS.

    We put in a claim for our air conditioner 8/23/2019. We live in Redding Ca 100 + degrees. The serviceman came out 8/26. He determined we need a new compressor. They have given us 3 different dates on when they ordered the part. I am over 70 years old and the heat is killing me. The one compensation they are offering is $125 which won’t even pay one night in a hotel. Today we were told another 3-5 days to get the part. They could care less how long it takes or that my husband and I are suffering. We have asked them to just replace the air conditioner so we can get on with our life. They won’t and there is no limit on how long they can search for a part. As far as I am concerned this company has no heart and their attitude towards customers stinks. Please do not buy a warranty from this company.

    On 9/2/19 I made a service request for A/C, contractor assigned. Contractor confirmed request received and would call back for scheduling. No return call and no one could give a time or date for service. Contacted AHS, assigned a second contractor, they arrived at home, assessed A/C, determined need replacement. After that....nothing. Contractor never submitted diagnostics to AHS and would not respond to calls from me or AHS, yet AHS kept asking me to be patient while their Customer Relations team did their research.

    It's now 9/10/19 and A/C remains unrepaired. I'm caught in the middle with no service yet I've paid the $100 fee and left in the heat. I'm shocked and paralyzed by the lack of help or advocacy for the paying customer to receive service already paid for. No offer of refund and AHS reps seemed to only say "I understand" and "will look into it and call you back" yet no updates and no return call from anyone. I'm disappointed and "hot" with no resolution in sight such as hire an honest contractor to service/replace for my A/C unit. I need assistance now. Please.

    We called American Home Shield on a Wednesday, then they finally got in touch with us the following week. The contractor said the service was going to be the following Wednesday, which would’ve been two weeks. I called AHS customer relations line and had them call the contractor. They did send a man and both times when he came in, he knew what the problem was right away and ordered the part while he was there. When he came back, he fixed the thing with no problem. So, their people know what they’re doing, They just got too much business they can do. So far, the AHS contractors are doing everything on their end and there may not be that many service reps in the Macon area that works on appliances.

    My last claim with AHS was for my washing machine. It was getting stuck in the spin cycle. It’s very, very easy to do a claim. I just went online and submitted my claim in there and had a email back. The email back was instant in letting me know the claim was through, and in less than two hours I had an email letting me know of the provider or service people that would be taking care of it and a rough time frame of when they would be taking care of it, along with a phone number.

    The contractor called me and scheduled an actual definitive time. He was running a little bit late. They called me, let me know that they were running late, which wasn’t a big deal for me. They came in, looked at the washing machine and was very professional and to the point. When he got done, let me know that there were two issues that he actually found that he would submit for the parts, and they would let me know what the turnout would be, and left. It was very quick and simple. The next day they let me know it was approved and they would have to get the parts in about a week later. The parts came in, they called to let me know they were in, set up a return visit with me and it took him all of 15 minutes tops to fix it.

    Everything with American Home Shield has been absolutely phenomenal. They have always done exactly what they said they would do. They have been upfront with any charges that I have incurred with anything such as refrigerant. They’ve always been immediate, like responsive. If I had a question, they answer immediately. They get technicians out here immediately, and the technicians have been phenomenal as well.

    The air conditioner's outside part wasn't coming on as a bad storm had blown the capacitor. This was the first time we used American Home Shield, and by the luck of the draw, we were on the phone with our regular AC guy and he did not wanna use the guy American Home Shield was gonna put us with. By the grace of God, when we submitted it, it said, “Your service provider will be Fruge’s Air Conditioning,” and that’s who we used. We were lucky that it happened to be the same man that we’ve used for 20 years, Danny. It would be good if AHS had a few to choose from. Nonetheless, Danny was amazing. He’s one of the best around town. We put the claim in at 10:00 one night, and he was out here the very next morning.

    I was gonna switch companies who was cheaper and American Home Shield ended up talking me into staying with them by giving me two service calls. I already used one two years ago and their rep said that I have one more. I asked her if I would have a problem getting the second claim because it might be a year to three years and she said that it should be in the system.

    My next service call was supposed to have been free. It was for the same part. AHS told me not to worry about it, but their rep couldn't find it anywhere. I was on the phone for longer than an hour and I couldn’t hardly understand the rep because of her accent. If I didn't have a free one, I would have been on the phone 10 or 15 minutes instead of over an hour.

    AHS was supposed to credit me back for the $100 that they charged my credit card 'cause they owed me a service call. Their rep said that it had to be approved, which would take a couple of days 'cause I called her on Monday, Labor Day. Once they get ahold of the company, it would take about two days and then they would get ahold of me. I've never heard from anybody. Other than that, the service went good and my wife was was plenty pleased with the contractor. The guy was super nice and he knew what was wrong with it right away.

    I had a very poor experience with the contractor that was sent by American Home Shield. The first time, they couldn’t find anything wrong. And that was because they were in such a rush. Now, I'm not a plumber. I am not mechanically inclined. I'm a retired attorney. They said nothing was wrong. They left. Three to four hours later, there was an overflow again. So, we called again and they sent another contractor out. He spent 20 minutes and couldn’t find anything wrong. I knew there was something wrong with it, but not knowing anything about plumbing, what am I gonna say? He couldn’t find the leak.

    Finally, I sat in that bathroom for an hour and 20 minutes on a chair and flushed the commode to see what was going on, and it was simple. It was embarrassing. All they had to do is replace those little valves that raise and lower the water level automatically. That was all it had to be. They never even looked at that. So, I waited for the third guy to come out and I told him, “This is what’s wrong.” I let the water flow into a bucket, I didn’t want any more on the floor, so he could see exactly what was going on, and it was a quick change and he was out of here. But it's disappointing for me to have to sit there. If they would have stayed around and investigated a little more the first two times, it was obvious. It was so obvious to me when I did the time to spend it. So, I'm very disappointed in those people.

    American Home Shield's people on their end were very helpful. The young lady I dealt with really went out of her way and understood. The irony of it was that when I explained to the woman that I dealt with at My Georgia Plumber, she was amazed that they couldn’t find it, and she was very apologetic, but she had to go through the process of letting American Home Shield send somebody else out, and I understood that. That was what kept the frustration level low.

    This is our third year with American Home Shield and we've had a washing machine problem, dryer problems, and garbage disposal problems. They’ve taken care of everything except the garbage disposal problem and they still can't figure that out. So, what I do is I get down there. When the garbage disposal backs up, I put my hand down in there and I spin it and spin it and pull what's in there out and it works fine. I had two guys out here that cost me $125 a shot and they couldn’t fix it. So, I just let it go and I'm taking care of that now.

    American Home Shield has always been very cooperative. Sometimes, they send out people that are much more of a handyman or plumbers. They weren’t very confident plumbers if I had to point out the problem in this latest claim. But I'm satisfied with American Home Shield and I'll continue to do business with them. As a matter of fact, my son just bought a home, and the first thing I had him do was to contract with American Home Shield for his new home.

He came out a year ago when the garage door wasn’t working and he put another motor in.     I filed a claim with American Home Shield over two weeks ago for the dishwasher. It went from being silent to making a very loud noise every time it runs, and so we were concerned that there was something wrong with it. We had an appointment scheduled for the first visit and we took a day off work so we could be there for the contractor. He showed up and he originally said it was a pump. He had the pump in his truck and when he came back in and fixed it, the noise was still happening and he said it needed a new motor. He said he was gonna get his boss to approve it, which was great.

    A couple of days later, I got an email from American Home Shield asking me to rate the service since the call was completed. I called the contractor and said that the service hasn’t been completed. They told me that he was gonna come back out with the part. We needed to have a tech come out again last Monday and check it out one more time. So, I said it was not a problem.

    We took a second day off of work so we could be there for the tech and 20 minutes before the appointment time, he called me and said he was gonna cancel the appointment, but the good news is he got the approval to order the part. He said he would call back and make another appointment when he gets the part so he can install it. We said okay. Four or five days later, I got another email from American Home Shield saying, “We wanna make sure you’re happy since the service has been completed.” I called up the contractor and said that my service hasn’t been completed and that their guy said he was gonna be back. He cancelled our appointment on Monday. I told them the whole story again and they said that as far as they’re concerned, this was done. They finished it and they were not doing anything else.

    I called American Home Shield two days ago. I explained to them everything and they said that they’ve elevated it to the next level. I will be taken care of and not to worry about it. Today, two days later, I called American Home Shield and said that no one has contacted me and I’m still waiting. They said they would get the contractor on the phone and they called him. He is now saying that they’ve tried to call me, which they haven't. They told me through American Home Shield that it’s just a noise so they're not gonna cover the noise. It’s like losing two days of work when I could’ve used that to just buy a new dishwasher, but I’m counting on American Home Shield to come through for me here like they have any other time.

    All my other service appointments have been great. We’ve loved the contractors, they’ve taken care of the issues and we haven't had any problems. But in this one, I have been lied to because I was told it was a motor. Now I’m told it’s not. I was told they’ve ordered the motor and they're gonna make another appointment. They didn't order a motor and didn't make another appointment. They told me that it was all done. American Home Shield said it’s not all done. So, that contractor is the issue. American Home Shield themselves have been good to me so far. Everything I’ve ever had with them was very pleasant and their service on the phone was always great. I’ve been with them for 11 months and I’m up for renewal next month but I’m not sure if I’m gonna do it because of this most recent thing.

    American Home Shield was able to get a contractor out pretty quick. I wasn’t happy with the initial company that came. I would never have them again. But I liked Service Mechanical a lot. They came out and fixed the problem I had with my faucets. The guy came when he said he was coming and was very professional. He was in and out and he did a great job. The guy explained the issue to me. He said he was gonna try to find the part, but he didn’t think that he was going to be able to because it was an older faucet and worn out. He couldn’t find the part for it ‘cause of that and it had to be replaced. He couldn’t do it right that day. He came on a Friday and and then he came back that following Tuesday morning. The service was really good and the guy was wonderful. I haven't had any problems with the faucet since. Any issues that I've had in the past, AHS has done everything they can to accommodate me.

    The AC was slowly not cooling, and then it started making all kinds of noises. One Saturday morning, I went to turn it on and it sounded like it was about to blow up. I made a claim with American Home Shield online. It was really easy. When the technician from Precision Engineering arrived, I thought he knew exactly what was wrong with it. Even after he turned it on, he was like, “Oh, okay.” And he did some work on it and the noise stopped right away. He told me exactly what was wrong with it. It was some contaminated coolant and something else that he had to replace, but he was saying that it wasn’t a problem fixing it. They have to come back on the 23rd. According to them, that’s the earliest date they could get. Right now, it’s kinda cool. But the last couple of days, it’s been kinda cool so I haven’t worried about it as much. I would recommend American Home Shield.

    I had an appliance claim with American Home Shield in August. The freezer part of the refrigerator was warming up. It would cool down, then, it would warm up so my food was not cooling properly. There was also a leak somewhere in the back of the refrigerator. Budget Appliance came and they were wonderful. They came out twice and the first time they came out, I explained what was going on. The guy was able to explain to me what the issue was. I also had an issue with the dishwasher but what I found out from him is that I just didn't have the line on. I’m a new homeowner so I wasn’t sure what was going on and he was able to explain to me how to turn the water on so that it would actually go into the dishwasher. Budget Appliance is a family-owned company and the second time, his son came out. He was very knowledgeable too. He explained what was going on to me in a way that I could understand it.

    Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was an easy process. The contractor submitted the problem and stated that it could not be repaired. However, I did find that there was an issue with the communication from that point. I kept calling back and I had a hard time getting through to an actual person to find out what the next step was to see if I needed to do anything, or if it was on them, or what needed to happen from that point on. But once I got in contact with somebody, they handled the problem. They took care of it pretty well. Once they got the information they needed and I had the information I needed, the claim was processed pretty quickly. The appointment was set up, and everything after that point went pretty well.

    I would recommend American Home Shield and I have recommended them because they cover so much and in my experience, it seemed to me that they're a good company. They stand behind what they say. Any time I get that experience from somebody, I recommend to everybody. I’ve been talking about American Home Shield to anybody that’ll listen.

    The evaporator coil went out on the AC so American Home Shield and I agreed over the phone that they would pay me $1,350, which was what they would have paid to repair it. Then I went ahead and replaced the whole unit because it was 26 years old. All I needed to do was send in an invoice. But I recently got a letter from them and it said my claim was denied. I’m not sure why. So I’ve got to investigate that and find out what’s going on there. I’ve spent $12,000 on a brand new AC unit. I kinda did them a favor by just taking the $1,350 because I called the air conditioner people and the unit has a 10-year warranty on it so they’ll be the ones to fix it, not American Home Shield.

    But American Home Shield has taken care of every other claim that we’ve ever put in. We've had the warranty for five years now and everything has been fantastic. In fact, even the contractors have gotten better over the years. The guy who worked on the air conditioner when it first went out was fantastic too. Unfortunately, it was just an old system and it couldn’t be band-aided anymore. But he was great trying to make it work.

    The blower motor on my furnace wasn’t kicking on for the air conditioner. I did my claim with American Home Shield. The tech that was sent from Eagle Air was great. I assume everything is covered as I’m expecting it to be according to Eagle Air, but I haven’t received any communication from American Home Shield, whether it was approved, declined, or anything.     I initially called American Home Shield because my emergency drain is actually a building code violation. It’s draining in my garage. But when the request for that to be repaired was put in, American Home Shield denied it. They said that they’re not able to do cosmetic coverage because it’s not in my contract supposedly. Still, they serviced my AC to make sure that everything was running properly and it was running fine. But then, on Wednesday, it stopped running all together and it was 86 degrees in my house.

    I called American Home Shield back on Thursday morning and the rep said she would call me back me. They cancelled the claim on Thursday for the same reason but they never notified me that they had cancelled it. I called them on Thursday evening and the lady said she was gonna put the request in and expedite it. She also apologized for the inconvenience. Still, they didn’t call me on Thursday so I called them on Friday at 8:00 and every hour on the hour until I got results.

    They cancelled the claim two more times on Friday and every time I tried to explain the situation, they would still go back to the vendor who had nothing to do with the issue that I was having. I had to go through my real estate agent to get a result because I couldn’t get the people at American Home Shield to use critical thinking. At about 2 o’ clock on Friday, I called my real estate agent. I told her that they were supposed to service this HVAC system before closing and undoubtably, they didn’t do it because we didn’t have filters. We didn’t have everything that we needed to have. My real estate agent said not to worry about it. She told me she would make a call and call me back.

    My real estate agent ended up getting in contact with the AHS regional director for our area and within 30 minutes, she had called and emailed me and I had a service person at my door. So in that aspect, I’m very appreciative. The regional director pulled my file and did everything for me. But I shouldn’t have had to go through the whole thing for something I did not cause. The AC was working fine prior to the contractor getting here and now it isn't working. The contractor should’ve annotated it on my invoice or on the feedback they were gonna give back to AHS.

    I ended up getting authorization from the regional director to go outside the contractors on Friday. The contractor called me this morning saying the part had come in but because of the heat and the location of my HVAC, they would have to do it the first thing in the morning, due to health reasons. At the end of the day, I’m really not happy with American Home Shield at all.

    The swimming pool was having some issue in the pump. It's a part that was inside the motor. The motor wouldn't turn on. It wouldn't run. I called American Home Shield and the contractor came out within a day or two. We set an appointment and he showed up. He went out there and turned the switch on. He just took some tools and patched it out. He was out there in 10 minutes. So far, the pump works good. This would be my second year with AHS and I would recommend them.     The issues mentioned in this review were NOT the fault of Valleywide Appliance Repair but rather due to a miscommunication between our home warranty company, American Home Shield and GE, the provider of our new appliances. Valleywide Appliance Repair had absolutely nothing to do with the delivery or installation of our new appliances. Valleywide Appliance Repair diagnosed the issues with the old appliances that were eventually replaced and consistently provided outstanding and professional customer service. My claim with Valleywide Appliance Repair isn't going well. Valleywide did an outstanding job and all my interactions with them were more than I would have expected. But I'm having problems right now with the appliances being delivered. I'm receiving three items. One is a replacement that American Home Shield approved. The second item is one where I'm getting some cash back, and I'm replacing an item that would have been repaired otherwise. The third item, I'm buying outright from them. These are General Electric appliances.

    When the order was put in with GE and set up with the delivery company, the delivery company contacted me. With the item that was supposed to be installed, they received the wrong installation code for it. It was an oven-microwave combo, and the code that they received was for installing a countertop microwave. So, I had to call back in. I was on the phone for over an hour, and I thought I got it straightened out. I was told that everything would be taken care of. AHS's representative contacted GE while I was on the phone, so GE got over the proper code to the delivery installation company. The item would be delivered and installed. I thought I was set to go.

    The delivery was being done the next day, so I thought I better call them just to make sure. I called the delivery company to confirm all this, and they said the code had been changed, and the code they had did not include disposal of the existing oven microwave. All it was, was the code for the delivery and installation. So, I had to call back in again. Sat on hold for an interminable amount of time. The hold for these items is ridiculous. I've spent literally hours waiting on hold with American Home Shield for the last two weeks.

    I talked to one of their representatives who was a very nice guy. He said he was gonna straighten it out with GE. He saw where, apparently, they had given the wrong code to the delivery company. He said he was gonna take care of it. By the time I got a hold of him yesterday, GE was closed, so he said he was getting in at 11:30 eastern time, would get that straightened out with GE, make sure everything was as it was supposed to be, and then contact me. That's the rigmarole I've gone through. More of a pain in the butt than I really need especially during a work week. What I'm looking for right now is a phone call from James, the last guy I talked to, who will have straightened it out with GE and confirmed everything. Then, I'm gonna call the delivery company to confirm that. They should be delivering and installing the oven, removing the oven, and then dropping off the other two items which are a stovetop and a hood.

    AHS sent Ramey Appliance and they were not able to get the problem of my refrigerator resolved. The ice maker is not making ice all the time. So they think it's the compressor. And my understanding is that American Home Shield was never able to get ahold of them again. They came out twice, and the problem just reappeared. And then, tried to get them back out. He also came out twice for our dishwasher because the first time, it didn't get fixed. When he came out and fixed the dryer for us, he was able to fix that right away. And then, when he was there, my wife mentioned that the refrigerator was not working again after his second visit.

    And he did look at it, which was nice that he did that, and then his recommendation was that we should replace the refrigerator. He was gonna send a recommendation to American Home Shield, but he never did that. And then, we could just never get ahold of him again. So I don't know what happened to him. We've got other companies coming out. We had another company come out. They diagnosed the problem, but they were not specialists, and the thing that needed to be fixed. So now, we've got somebody coming out tomorrow. Hopefully, the next contractor coming out will be able to at least fix it or recommend a replacement.

    Most of American Home Shield's representatives are also difficult to understand. And the last time, having somebody come out again for the refrigerator was difficult just because they wanted to charge another service fee, even though the problem wasn't fixed the first time. So that took a while to get fixed. But nevertheless, I've been satisfied with AHS because certainly they send people out.

    I've been with AHS for nine years. It has worked well for us, but sometimes-- and I think this is true for all warranty companies, I'm not getting the full fix, and it's not always upfront. Also when we had our water heater replaced, we didn't like the group that came out. The guy was super creepy, but I didn't wanna report that. It was just kind of a bigger ordeal than it needed to be. And one other thing that would be nice to be improved is Miller Pools is who gets assigned to us often when there's a pool issue, and then one time, it was a different company. I did a Google search and they didn't have a website, like, all these red flags. And they have one or two 1-star reviews that were like, "AHS assigned us to these folks and they never called us back."

    It took a long time for me to get assigned to someone different during that. I was like, "Nobody answers." It goes to where it was like, "It rings busy. Please, I just need this fixed." It took two or three business days before AHS would assign someone different. I realized they got their process, and that made sense, but it was just really frustrating when there was so much proof that the company they'd assigned seemed to either be not good or not operating in Austin or whatever. But for the most part, AHS has been great. When Miller Pools was assigned to us they were awesome. They did a great job.

    I called AHS and talked to their automated system to set up my claim for an AC problem. At first, I was kind of skittish about it the first time I used it because I was giving my credit card over the phone. Still, I’m good with their process.     When I've only moved in the house a couple of months, I was able to reset the AC's circuit breaker and it came back on and it worked fine. We keep our AC on 74 and one day, I got home and it was 80 degrees. I redid the reset and nothing happened. I filed a claim online with American Home Shield and then I got a text that they had placed a call, and that the service would be a couple of days. I called on a Thursday night and I got a call on a Saturday that the tech would come out on Sunday. I was surprised because it was a holiday weekend but we did the service on Sunday.

    The tech checked the fan upstairs and said there's no water in the pan. He couldn't really tell me why it did what it did. He hooked up his Freon meter, he took the cover off, checked the electrical and then he said, "Go turn on the unit and turn it down 10 degrees and tell me what happens." And everything worked fine. he educated me on how to troubleshoot in the future, so I figured that was my $75 call. So far, everything went fine. It's a 10 or 11 years old unit so I figured the motor was burned out. Since then, the AC has been fine.

    I have five policies with American Home Shield. At my Clarksville property, Reep’s Air came out did a really good job. The guy kept us informed. He called when he was going and when he left the property to say that there was a part that he needed to order. He also said that it might take a couple of days depending on the shipping. There was this property that had a window unit in it as well and he told us that we might want to see if that window unit would suffice until they could get the repair done. He also called to say that it wasn't in yet, but they were expecting it in the next couple of days and he would let us know so I could let my tenant know, which he did and our tenant was thrilled with that.

    Everything worked as it should. Now, I’m at my personal home and I am waiting for the HVAC repair from American Home Shield. I submitted my claim on the phone because I was driving and the AHS reps were great. But sometimes I’ll do it online. My vendor now is Economy Air and I’ve worked with them for quite some time. They’re good too.

    The technician for the plumbing issue was awesome. He was very professional. He came in, knew exactly what was going on and was able to fix it in no time. However, we had an AC call one time for someone to come out and they could not come out for like 4 days. It was ridiculous. The only way that American Home Shield could expedite the callout was if it was over 100. With the heat index in South Carolina, it was gonna be way over 100 but they would not expedite the callout. I think it was someone that was overseas that my wife spoke to and she was extremely furious after she got off the phone with them. Just sitting there for 4 days with no AC was not good either.     The outside AC unit went out and I had an issue with the first company sent out by American Home Shield. Every time I called, I could never get ahold of that company. It took them forever to call me to schedule an appointment. Come to find out, they say that the number that they have on on the bottom of the email that they send is not the correct number. There were times that AHS couldn't even get in contact with them either. It took them weeks to come out to my home.

    When they initially came out, the guy told me it was gonna take another 10 days for the part but it took way longer than that. They kept telling me that the part had been picked up. Then they kept telling me the part wasn't in yet. They are unresponsive. You'd leave them messages, and they wouldn't respond. Then they put it back on American Home Shield saying that they have the incorrect information.

    The issue finally got taken care of on July. It was pressing because I was going to be traveling. I also have an elderly mom in my house. So I needed this taken care of before I leave. They ended up messing up my schedule because they were supposed to be at my house by 8 o'clock so that I could leave and they were late. I had to have someone else stay at my house because I was leaving that day to be traveling. There was a lot that happened with that company.

    The company said that the outside unit needed to be replaced. After they left, the part upstairs started leaking 'cause they never went up there to do anything. The pipe was clogged up and they were supposed to replace them when they fixed the unit outside. They never went in the attic or anything. So, that was what Air Design came out to fix. Their technicians were great. Everything is working correctly since they came out. But American Home Shield didn't do their part with the first company. I called them over and over. I asked to speak with supervisors over and over and they never put forth any effort to resolve the actual issues.

The first time the contractor came out, it was way too long. I have a newborn and I needed to sterilize bottles in the microwave.     The first time that I had trouble with my air conditioning, I put it in online to AHS and it was just before the weekend, so I did not receive a call. Then it started working again so I didn't go ahead with that one. When I had the trouble again and I went back in, which was about a week later, the online wouldn't take it. It just said that I'd have to call. Calling is harder because I have to wait on the line so I didn't do it. Then I got a call from the servicer and said they had gotten the request for service.     When I initially submitted a claim for my Whirlpool dishwasher, I had difficulty with an agent named Mike. I tried to explain to him that there was no vendor in my area other than Sears Home Services but he insisted on assigning me to a different company. I had been through this experience before and I tried to tell him that the people he assigned me to are down in Portland, Oregon. They will not come to my location. But Mike still assigned those people to me. The contractor got in contact with me and they said they don't come to our area.

    I contacted American Home Shield and did the claim again. I explained the situation to another agent and everything was fine. It was assigned to Sears and the issue was taken care of. The technicians from Sears knew what was going on. They had to order a part and it got here timely for when the technicians came back and installed it. Everything was fabulous. The dishwasher has been good.

    There was a bad experience I had two years ago with the air conditioning unit where American Home Shield sent a guy out here who was from Longview, Washington. The guy was totally inept. He came here with a pickup truck and he had a little satchel of tools. He took my air conditioning unit apart and said that it needed a part. He was supposed to be here a certain day with that part. He showed up and he told me that in speaking to the people at the part house, it was determined that he didn’t need the part and that the part was adjustable. But it was not adjustable. He put some coolant in my system and it was roasting. I ended up getting the people that do my annual maintenance on my system come and fix the air conditioner. Other than that, I will stay with American Home Shield.

    I have had problems with air conditioning repair done through AHS. The last time it was repaired, the contractor fixed it, but they put in the wrong unit and couldn’t change the filter. But I wasn’t sure about American Home Shield. They don’t change the filter. It is gonna fail eventually, and they said it will still be covered, so we’ll see. That filter’s gonna clog up someday and cause the unit to stop working, but the only way they can do it is cut a timber in my attic. This time we had our refrigerator repaired. AHS sent Astro Appliance and they got to it right away and seemed to fix the problem. It was perfect.

    Attempting to get my AC fixed since May 2019. Every time I call AHS, they give me a different reason that the vendor hasn't completed the job. The last call AHS said they forgot to notify the vendor that the part was approved and ordered. Each time they make an excuse and tell me to call the vendor directly.     When I cancel a month to month contract, you charge me not only a month fee as penalty, but also recover any service fees you paid to the providers for claim filed BEFORE my contract cancellation date? In other words, for the partial year for which I am on contract with your company I paid monthly service fee, deductible for each claim, complete fee other than deductible paid to the actual service provider, plus a month service fee as a penalty? What a stinking contract and company is that? Will it stand any rule or law if I take it to a court?     My LG washing machine was stuck on the spin cycle, so I called AHS. A repairman came out promptly, and then proceeded to tell me he would have to break the affixed tray that my machine fits in to repair the machine. Then another person from Exclusive Appliance told me I would have to hire a handy man to move the machine so his repairman could replace the parts. That is unacceptable service to me.

    When I called AHS they said that was in the contract. I.e., that they are not responsible for moving appliances. The AHS rep could not have been more rude, and talked over me. Sincerely it was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. How can you do a contract in which you will do the work if someone else moves an appliance? That is no way to do business in my opinion. I canceled my contract and will NEVER deal with AHS again. I am telling all my friends, and posting to every consumer website I can find. AHS is a disrespectful, shady and very expensive warranty with zero benefits.

    This company is the absolute worse. NEVER go with them. I paid my $400 plus for the year (BIG mistake) and have had nothing but trouble since. My gas wall heater. They argued for 10 min to send an electrician. As I gave up, he came, never set foot in the house, and stated it needed to be a gas person. (DUH). I fought for 2 months and finally got my $75 back on that. Next: a kitchen faucet. Leaking. Another $75. They show up, after 2 no show appointments (Arcata Roto Rooter) and the charge was going to be over $300 to replace it. WHAT?!?! Next $75 was for an electrician to fix bathroom fan. 1 week out, complaints, etc... Still no call from electrician. (From Samoa). Going to fight for that $75 back and I'm out. Horrible experience. Horrible.

    Our air conditioner started making this deep parump sound like the heater was trying to turn on when the air conditioner turned on. It did that kind of over and over. Then one day we noticed the house was hot and mind you on the weekend. So we waited and I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out that Monday to fix it. He found that the capacitor was dead and so he replaced it. Immediately we started getting colder air. What a miracle this is in the hot Texas weather. The noise however is still there. It's an occasional parump. We can't figure that out. If it goes out again then I will indeed call American Home Shield because I trust them and know they will get good people to fix what goes wrong.     I used to speak very highly of AHS but after this fiasco today, I would say, run, run away fast and get another home warranty service. We live in Nevada where many people have pools/spas but AHS only has one company on their list!~ This company is not the weekly pool service we utilize and I would not want another company to work on my major investment.

    AHS would not even consider and outside authorization nor would they attempt to contact my pool company to get them to be on the AHS team. I asked if they had an outside sales dept to contact companies to have them join the AHS team, I was told NO, it's up to the company to contact AHS. WOW, guess I have a different mindset about building up a business. I will have to pay out of pocket for my services from my pool company.     Unsatisfactory company. They take advantage of consumers with no outreach on service calls and clearly do not honor their contracts. As well as execute actions on the accounts without the consent of the consumer. As of to date I am out $1,190 for the policy, three $75 service charges, and an $80 cancelation fee without a single resolution to any of the claims that I have made to the company.     A/C in my home has been out since Sunday, they cannot get a service provider out to my home until Thursday afternoon for their initial "check... Which means if it is anything like the other time we needed a repair we wouldn't have our A/C back up and running for almost 3 weeks. I told them the heat index where I live is close to 100 today and that is just not going to work. They said they "checked the weather" and the high is 75.... you tell me where in Oklahoma in September the high is only 75... it was 75 at 5 am.     Really lousy and non caring. Dealing with repeated failures and no solutions. Since July 2018 have been having problems and they keep stringing us along. The last week three technicians come out and fix the problem only to have the unit fail the next day. Going on two weeks with no hot water and they are dragging their feet on replacement. Now asking the plumber to submit a detailed description as to why it needs to be replaced and not fixed. Any person with half a brain can see that everything that can be replaced has been replaced and it is cheaper for them to replace the unit. This is after the plumber already submitted his recommendation to replace. Their strategy is to frustrate you into just replacing it yourself. I have told them that I have a special needs son who has sensory processing problems and they still don't care enough to solve this.

    Well, thought I bought protection with my AHS Home Warranty on a brand new home! I'm just 45 miles outside of Las Vegas, NV and my brand new LG Range won't light the oven. Called AHS and they assigned a contractor and happily took my $75.00 service fee over the phone for my oven that won't light. So I wait to be contacted and NOTHING! When are they coming?     If J & H, the first contractor, had any smarts, they would have fixed my air conditioning. After the guy put in the compressor, he said it was done. But the house was 90 degrees and he said his probe was broken. I took a thermometer that you use for meat, and shoved it in where they were doing it, and I said that it was 90 degrees. He said it was the best that it was gonna do and to call American Home Shield if I didn’t like how it works. So, I called AHS and then, I got Ample Air. The first thing the guy said was that the compressor was bad and it wasn’t even working. He opened it up and there was a thing called a fast start, which I paid for. He put it in, got it working, and then took it out. J & H should be outta the system of AHS because they’re a piece of garbage. Because of them, AHS had to replace the compressor on my air conditioning.

    Ample Air wasn’t bad, but they should’ve found what Tru-Way found. The guy from Tru-Way did a high quality of work and he wasn’t one of these guys that pats you in the back and wants to be your friend. He said he had a job to do and he was gonna do it. The guy said that things have been bad for a long time. They found something that was wrong in the air conditioning that should have been replaced a long time ago and they replaced it. There was also a kind of an automatic shut off if there’s too much power going through the system to protect it. They had to order that and it took about two weeks to get it. But that didn’t affect the air conditioning. Tru-Way was fine and I would use them again. I should’ve had these people in the beginning, and it would have saved AHS money. I’ve recommended American Home Shield before and I’m probably gonna be using them in a new place once I move in.

    I had a pool service call with AHS and the company they sent out was excellent. South Tampa Pool contacted me that day and texted me the next morning and said that they could come by and I didn't need to be home. I told them to go for it and when they were done, the guy sent me a picture and said that they were done. He also said that the motor went out and the seals were bad along the tank, but it was now good to go. It was very excellent. Everything is working nicely.

    When I try to submit an online claim with AHS, it doesn’t recognize my account, phone, address, nor by everything. So I have to call the claim in, but the service is good when I speak with someone. The whole internet thing is a pain in the butt, but I’ve been with AHS for about five and a half years and I've kept them for the peace of mind.     My AC wasn’t blowing air in my master bedroom and it wasn’t blowing cool air. A technician from the company American Home Shield set me up with came out the first time and fixed the blowing in my bedroom. He did not, however, fix the cooling of the air. Somebody else from the same company was sent out and he said the AC was fine on Freon, but it was just too hot outside and more time was just needed. But that wasn’t accurate. I waited for about two weeks and the AC still wasn’t working right.

    The next guy from the same company that came out said the AC was a couple of pounds low on Freon. He showed me the temperature thing. He put the temperature gauge up against the vent that was blowing the air and he said the AC was only blowing about 68 degrees when it should be in the 30 or 40 range. The one guy that came out to check the Freon wanted to get in and out. I don't know how he could have missed that issue if the other guy came two weeks later and the Freon was so low. The next issue we had during all this was the thermostat. It was a bad thermostat and it ended up being replaced. Of the guys who came, one guy was good. Everybody else was okay.

    My experience with American Home Shield was a little frustrating because they are not the one living in the middle of Texas without a well-running air conditioner. It was funny how they were able to get one guy out over the weekend right away because I told them I had a senior and a young child in the house. I had asked for something else to have done before and AHS couldn’t do it. It's usually six days later or maybe a little bit less, but it wasn’t right away. It's just been a long summer. The air conditioner is finally working right.

    We’ve been having some plumbing issues and leaks that drip in the basement, and we were smelling kinda mildewy smells. So, we needed to call somebody and find out where these smells were coming from because water was getting on something and it didn’t smell good. I filed a claim online to American Home Shield and I kinda got a little confused because it didn’t have some of the options listed that I was looking for. I didn’t really know if it were pipe leaks and there was no way for me to request for a diagnosis because I didn’t know what was wrong. The plumber’s office called and said that they couldn’t do work on things that they didn’t have a work order for. I didn’t know how to submit a work order for a diagnosis. There wasn’t an option for that.

    When the plumbers came out and gave us our diagnosis, he said that they were gonna need a high-capacity water valve. That made sense because there was a lot of water systems in the house. He knew what he was talking about. Every issue we’ve had, AHS has sent someone out really quick and they’re gonna call me tomorrow and see if I’ve had a contractor to come out to get the access for them. I have not but I called a couple of different people, so hopefully there's somebody.

    The downstairs AC went out. The first contractor came out two or three times. They didn't know what they were doing so we called American Home Shield and asked for someone to come out and they fixed it on the first try. It happened on a Friday and somebody didn’t come out ‘til Monday. The contractor came on time, but it wasn’t a good company. The guy didn’t even explain what was going on. He just told us what he did. The first time, my wife was here and she said he just basically went out there and did what he was supposed to do, and then he came back with no reports. He gave us the invoice and then left. Most people would give you a breakdown. Like the last guy that came out, he was like, “Yeah, this is going on. This is what you got. Blah, blah, blah.”

    American Home Shield is pretty good. Everything is now working good but the next time I call whenever we got air problems, I do not wish they send that company out anymore. Also, I wish they had vendors on the weekend. That was the second time we had an incident when we had to suffer all weekend and then someone didn’t come out until Monday.

    Our air conditioning has broken a number of times, and in the past it was broken for as long as two weeks. American Home Shield kept sending us technicians who were not trained for what we had, but it was fixed last time. When I submitted the recent claim, I wanted to request that particular technician who fixed it, but there was no way to do that. I was very frustrated that I had to submit the claim and then call the next day to get them to send this person. It would be smart for AHS to have a comment box when you submit a claim in case there was a terribly vital information you need to communicate. Nevertheless, they sent him out and he was able to fix the motor in the main air conditioning unit. This technician was quick, he clearly knew what he was doing, and he got the job done.     I had some plumbing issues in the house related to the hot water heater. A plumber was there and diagnosed it. He said that I needed to get it fixed, so I called American Home Shield. Then, the tech came out, looked at it, and concurred. It turned out that some big bladder that was in a tank on top of the water heater exploded and he fixed it. He was very prompt, very punctual, and professional. He was about his business and knew what he was doing. Then we shook hands, he gave me the receipt and he took off. The repair took about two hours and the heater has been doing very well since then.

    AHS did great and I'm glad I have them. I had them when I lived in California and deductible was a little higher there. When I moved to Georgia, the owner of the new house that I purchased bought a contract with AHS for me and I used it. It worked well and I’ve had no problems with submitting claims with them. Their customer service reps have been excellent and for this last claim. they went through everything and told me that it was covered. So, I felt really good about it.

    The AC wasn’t putting out enough cool air, it couldn’t keep up with the heat load so we had to replace the air handling unit and it was a torturous process for me. It took a good six weeks to finally get the unit installed, that I wanted to have installed. We have a Lennox system and because the heat pump was Elite, I wanted a Lennox Elite replaced. I was able to get the quote initially with the agreement to have a Lennox put in, but AHS wanted to put the Lennox, the middle-priced one. The reason why I didn’t want that was because the dimensions on the Lennox Merit are different. So, the duct work would've been modified and that would’ve cost more money, and it’s more work for the installer. I kept trying to get a price and an upgrade to the Elite, and that just took weeks.

    Every day, I would speak with somebody different from AHS, and I got a lot of misinformation. In the end, I learned that AHS has a list of contractors that do upgrades, like I wanted to do, and a list that don’t. The first contractor I was dealing with was one that didn’t and the three different women I spoke to over a course of a two-week period weren’t aware of that. So, there’s definitely some internal training needed. The knowledge on the part of the people that answered the questions when you call in for service, lacks. They’re not familiar with the procedures and policies of the company, so it was extremely frustrating. Nevertheless, they were all very polite, very professional people.

    Eventually, it got all sorted out and a contractor came that do the upgrade. He was prompt and knowledgeable. He did the repair in an expedient time, but I overpaid. This was done over a month ago and I contacted him and I said, "I need a receipt to show that I paid you the $3,400.” Plus, American Home Shield paid him money so the guy made a ton of money on this claim. The second thing I wanted was the warranty information, which the rep promised me. This was a couple days after. The installation was done on a Sunday, that Monday he told me and I still haven’t gotten it. So, I sent him a text three weeks ago, and just last night, I sent another text saying, and in a nice way that I’m still waiting for the receipt and the warranty information and he still hasn’t delivered.

    The warranty information is another story. One of the problems is that the way the name plate on the unit was installed is partially covered with a plate, so I can’t get the serial number off of it without taking the plate off, which I’d rather not do even though I’m mechanically inclined. Without that serial number, you can’t register it on the warranty, so that’s why I’m chasing the rep for that information. This project started before the 4th of July, and it took until the middle of August to get it done. Fortunately, the unit that we had produced enough cool air that it was comfortable, it was 77, 78 degrees, and we can live with that. If it’s completely broken, it would’ve been horrible to live here. So, that was this summer.

    Just recently, I noticed that the four different zones in our house with four different systems are all the same, the Lennox Elite. One of the upstairs unit wasn’t cooling and I had a good idea it was the motor for the blower. The AHS regular contractor came and did a great job. We sent the request in to American Home Shield a day later, they called, we set up an inspection, and the guys came within two days. They diagnosed the problem and it was exactly what I thought it was. They ordered the part, and they came. And all within a week and a half, everything was done, everything was cool. And it only cost me the $100 service. So, that was very reasonable. But the other zone that we replaced the air handling unit was a total disaster.

    The rep knew that I wanted an upgrade. I personally think he took advantage of that because I got the high-end brand. And the most frustrating part is I spent hours on the phone, again, with American Home Shield. I called two of the Lennox distributors, installers in this area, I could not get a price on what the upgrade charge is. I wanted a price, and I wanted to know what’s the difference if you buy the Merit, and what does it cost, and Lennox could not give me that information. They basically tell me they don’t have that information but they know what it costs to put a unit off the end of an assembly line. And for the record, I spent 44 years in the nuclear power industry. For the first 18 years, I worked for an engineering company and constructors. We designed and built units. There is $5 billion dollar plants, it’s what they were, with a lot of mechanical equipment.

    And then, the rest of my career, I worked for the owners of the plant we ran. So, I’m a civil structural engineer, but I know about mechanical parts, and I know a lot about building, and testing, and construction. So, it was really frustrating that I couldn’t get the price from Lennox. I went to four different people, and I finally got a customer care woman, and they won’t share. So, they directed me to their distributors, and I went to their distributors in South Carolina. Five Star was one of them, and they wouldn’t give the price of the unit. The only thing they’ll give you is a price to come and replace or replace a piece part, but they will not give you the cost of the unit.

    I did learn from American Home Shield that they were willing to pay $754 for the Merit, but I never was able to get a price from them for the Elite, to see what the upcharge was. I know this installer way overcharged me, because the difference between a Merit and an Elite is not that much different. It might be a $400 or $500 difference. Apparently, he drove in on our neighborhood and he saw that we live in a 6,300 square feet house, all stone on the outside and it’s a very expensive, pricey house. So, when they saw this, they go, “Chiching, chiching, chiching.” And that was what really annoyed me.

    And when I was dealing with American Home Shield, they sent a contractor that does an upgrade. So, there’s no competition, no competitive pricing. So, it’s very frustrating dealing with AHS in this case. But like I said, the flip side of it is the motor that went on the blower in the other air handling unit, that went the way you would expect it.

    In July of 2017, that same cooling coils went and had to be replaced, and that went really well. But the air handling unit that we had to replace in total, because I wanted to do the upgrade to make it easier to install, and in the end, it would cost a little bit less because they didn’t have to put modified ductwork in. So, the air supply and the air discharge ends of these units are different dimensions. They would have to fabricate, like a coupling to connect it, and that cost money. And then, installing the supports for the unit might’ve been a little different. So, I’m trying to make it as cheap as possible in the long run. And it’s easy for the contractor because the harder and more effort is, it costs more money. So, it was one of the most frustrating things I had to do.

    Overall, it was an absolute horrible experience. I’ve built two houses, one in New Hampshire where we used to live, and one in Vermont where we had a vacation home. We designed and built a $5.5 billion plant, so I understand construction and testing. I’ve also dealt with GE, Westinghouse, all these huge contractors and little contractors to buy pumps, motors, valves, condensers, compressors. And I understand heat transfer. I know how AC works and I know how heating works. So, that was my biggest frustration that I’ve had in 20 years with trying to get this very simple air handling unit replaced.

    The one that is not on the upgrade is Guaranteed Services. They were good but they were hard to deal with because they were the first ones AHS would send, but when I tell them I wanted to do the upgrade, they said, “We don’t do that.” So, I said, “Okay, you don’t but get me some prices.” And they wouldn’t do that. They had a new guy who was working with them that I’ve spoken with and he had problems speaking. He had very poor verbal skills, and he was just very, very strange to deal with. But put that aside, we finally decided we can’t use Guaranteed Services, and we use this other company that were on the upgrade list.

    The guy showed up on time and did the repair quick, but I way overpaid. And I still haven’t gotten the warranty or receipt from the guy. Payment should be met 15 days, but he wanted the 50% of $3,200 upfront. We did an electronic transfer that day. Unfortunately, he gave us the wrong number, so it didn’t get put in his account until a couple of days later. By his own admission, his phone wasn’t connected to the right bank account, but he got back to us, and he had his money within two days, but that was his mistake. Anyways, I’ve had good experiences with American Home Shield contractors and had this just horrible experience with the air handling unit.

    Furthermore, we have a Scotsman which is a high-end ice maker in our house. So, last fall, it needed to be repaired, and they sent over a guy who had been to the house before. So, he decided he needed some parts, and he ordered them, and this was in December. So, we went to Colorado for January, February, and March, and this guy was trying to repair the unit. He said, “I’ll take the unit out of your house, and I’ll bring it to my shop, and I’ll work on it.”

    In the end, when we came back in March, what we learned was in the parts, in the contract that we have, it only allows $3,000 for repair of appliances. This guy had bought different parts, and he was up to $2,600. And he went back to AHS and said, “I need another $1,600 for another part, because I still can’t get this unit to run.” So, American Home Shield came back to us and said, “You’re gonna have to pay the difference between the $3,000 policy limit and the $3,600 that the price is gonna be, with no guarantee if it’s still gonna…" and we said, “No. We will not do that.”

    We could’ve bought a lower-end GE or a Frigidaire or we could’ve bought a KitchenAid for $1,800. But now, these parts are bought and we’re screwed, because this guy has spent the money already. First of all, this guy didn’t know what he was doing. He would get the unit and he was just replacing parts. He never diagnosed what part’s wrong. This is the same guy that came to our house two years ago to fix a Viking oven. The oven would not hold temperature, so he comes and he says, “Oh, you need a new thermostat.” He put the thermostat in, then he goes away. That was 100 bucks to get him in and do that. Oven is still not fixed because he never figured out what was wrong with it.

    Three months later, we bring him back because the oven still does not hold temperature, and it takes forever to get to a temperature. So, he comes back, he says, “Oh, it’s the heating element.” So, he replaces that, that’s another 100 bucks, he goes away. Still doesn’t work properly. Finally, another 100 bucks, he comes back, and he said, he agrees with my wife, “The unit needs to be replaced.” So, we spent $300 to get him, finally, to the point where he said, “Oh, it needs to be replaced.” Plus, American Home Shield paid this guy for, first, the thermostat you paid for, and then secondly, the heating element, and his labor and time. So, this guy made a lot of money on this job, and he never fixed it. So, we ended up getting rid of it, then we went and we bought another oven, and we had it installed, and we got the check from American Home Shield.

    We took the cash-out option, and we used that check to go find our own unit and we got our own installer. And so, they were three horrible experiences dealing with AHS contractors. So, never use them again. The incompetency of the contractor for the oven and the ice machine, and then this other one issue, a lot of it is just the lack of knowledge of the AHS people that we deal with over the phone. They just don’t know. And it’s a shame, because we did have just recently replaced the motor and that went well. Two years ago, in July 17th, we had the coil replaced, that went very well. But these three other projects were horrible. The experience was bad. The oven was the first thing that we had to deal with, and that was probably two and a half, three years ago. It wasn’t long after we moved into the house that my wife realized that it would take forever to get our oven to a temperature and it wouldn’t hold the temperature.

    In the end, I’m probably gonna go and look at another warranty company out there that I’ve done a little bit of research on. And you can terminate the contract any time for the monthly fee you pay them. And in our case, it’s just little pennies under 100 bucks a month. I’m gonna be looking at other people. And then, my other option is just to get rid of these warranty companies, and if things break, then I’ll just pay for them out of my checkbook. Fortunately, I'm in a position where I can afford to do that.

    We got this house about 11 years ago, and we got American Home Shield shortly after that. I like the idea that you get an older home and they're able to protect the expensive things that will eventually break down. It’s a nice insurance policy. I had an appliance claim last month and it went fine. Guillermo’s gave me a pre-call to let me know what day they'd be out, and then on the holiday, the rep would call me back to give me a narrow window. She called on a Friday to tell me it’d be Tuesday, the day after Labor Day.     Our interactions with Grady's Air Conditioning & Heating Services went really well. My wife was very impressed with the individuals who came. They were able to resolve the issue. They did a really good job. They overlooked the whole system, and there was a couple things that they needed to fix, and they did, and it seems to be working well.

    We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. We had another situation. I wasn’t really happy about the way it was handled. It was with the water heater situation that we just called in on. I was not impressed with the way that the people on the phone was handling the claims. We had to call multiple times. They really didn't wanna give me a really good answer. What happened was we paid our deductible. The water heater went out, and they wanted me to do the buyout option. They sent a contractor over here that was a really flighty type company. They wanna charge me $620 out of my pocket for modifications to my hot water system, which did not need to be done at all, and really torqued me off. I told AHS that I did not want them to do any work in my home. I tried to call the owner of the company.

    It was called Mr. Rooter here in the League City, Houston area, and they could not give me any explanation at all. They said that they needed to add some modifications to my system to bring me up to code. And American Home Shield would not do anything about it except trying to get me to buyout, and so, I lost all the installation cost that I cannot recoup, but AHS would pay for the hot water heater. The installation and dismantling of the hot water heater would have to fall on my dime. I was pretty upset with that, and I could not get anybody at AHS on the phone to help me out. All I told them to do is I want another contractor besides Mr. Rooter to come out here and install it. And I was so upset about it because it would take a lot of my time out of the day to try to deal with this thing, and I was never going anywhere.

    The lady from their buyout department told me that, “It is what it is. They were issued the work order. You’ll have to deal with them. There’s nothing we can do. Either you want a buyout with us, or you can go and work with them.” I said, “I’m not working with them at all.” What it made me feel like is that American Home Shield was forcing me to use a contractor that I thought was doing some unethical business, trying to charge me $620 to do an install, and the cost of my hot water heater was gonna cost me close to $500. So, now, I’m up to $1,200 and they really could care less. And I couldn't get any answers except, “It is what it is.” I know what he was doing. He was trying to screw me for the installation cost.

    What I ended up doing is I called Lowe's, used their contractor, and there was no modifications that needed to be done. They were in and out of my house within one hour, took the hot water heater out of my attic, put the brand new one in there, and installed it. I’m still really kinda considering even staying with American Home Shield. I know there are other options out there for me, AHS' cost is quite a bit higher than other companies per month, and there are some things that AHS doesn't cover that other people cover like on pool pumps or pool motors.

    Now, the water heater was a nightmare, and it pissed me off so bad that we were thinking about cancelling. There are times that I tell people, "Listen, we’ve had good experience with these guys." But no company’s gonna dictate to me who I’m gonna use and not use. And, usually, AHS doesn't have issues with companies. I was trying to explain to them, "If you have a complaint from a client that feels like they're being taken advantage of and lied to, you guys need to listen to what people are telling you on the phone. It’s not a joke. These are people that you have contracted within your company that are doing this kinda crap to people out here, and you’ll lose a lot of people."

    I’ll tell everybody I know that has American Home Shield exactly what happened to me, and that they are trying to strong-arm me and my wife about using a contractor. One of the reasons I didn't want them in here was he didn't look very professional. He didn't do very much. And then, he didn't tell us about any modifications. He didn't tell us anything. And then, he called AHS when he called in the claim that he needs to do $620 worth of modifications, which were never communicated to us. So then, all of a sudden, we got into this big web of BS with him and his company. What really upset me with AHS is nobody on the phone could explain the buyout process. They didn't even have enough knowledge about what it was to explain it on the phone. So, then, they finally transferred me over to this other department.

    A lot of the people that are answering the calls on their end cannot speak English very well, and they don't understand English very well. Sometimes, it can be very frustrating. They're nice, but they don't understand what’s going on. It’s almost like talking to a robot because they all sound exactly the same. When you tell them something, they don't listen to what you're telling them, and then, they just repeat again the same thing that they just told you. Still, overall, I like American Home Shield. I really don't have a major issue but If I was a person that didn't make a lot of money, and an extra $600 would really hurt me financially, it could devastate me. We’ve really had great experiences with American Home Shield as a whole.

    The gentleman from Adam’s Appliance who came out got along nicely with my husband. He said that the dryer vents needed to be cleaned. It was about time for the annual cleaning so we went ahead and had someone come out and clean it but it didn’t fix the situation. I tried to explain that to Adam’s, and they wanted to charge me again for another call. I was like, “I don’t think so,” since the technician was already here. The woman I talked to was less than pleasant and ended up hanging up on me but it’s fine because I would’ve hung up on her.

    Our AC had stopped cooling a lot. It was 80-90 degrees and we have two little kids, so it was not good. It kept running all the time, and our electricity jumped from $90 to $300 in a month. A contractor came and told us that it had to be serviced, cleaned and flushed, and that we needed to add Freon. So, we did that. It worked for 12 hours and then it stopped working completely, so they had to come back. They figured out that a piston had gone bad and that was overheating the compressor.     We had a claim with American Home Shield on the refrigerator. I submitted it online because I'd rather do stuff on the web and have documentation of it. It's just easier for me. Then my most recent claim was for a faulty Electrolux microwave. The guy they sent out for the microwave was very good. He serviced the refrigerator as well. He knew that there was gonna be an issue with the microwave that day, but he couldn't service both on the same service call which was fine.

    The guy came back and knew exactly what was wrong with the microwave, but they just couldn't find the part for it. We looked at the parts, but that particular model was discontinued. They also have no parts remaining in stock. We had to replace it. AHS sent me to a website with a very large selection of replacement opportunities and let me chose one which I thought was really good. I went in, and there were two models that I never heard of. That was a good experience. The new microwave is installed and working fine. Also, we're gonna have another claim in a week for an air conditioner.

    When Eel Valley came out, we had to push it back because it was a two-man job. It was a stackable washer and dryer, so it was probably about a week. They didn’t fix it then, and they submitted a request for a hose to American Home Shield which did not get processed correctly. AHS didn’t follow up with me to find out what was delaying the service, and so I had to get on the phone with them and Eel Valley. But Eel Valley was wonderful both times. I’ve used them before when I didn’t have AHS. They’re a great group and I’m very pleased with them. I’m very happy with the professionalism and their knowledge of what needs to be done.     I put in a claim for the bathroom and it was fixed. I also submitted a claim for the dishwasher. We’re having problems with it because it keeps leaking. The contractor came to the house and said that they had to get back with American Home Shield because they've been out there a couple of times, and they keep putting parts into my older dishwasher. He’s gonna get with the company and see how they wanna go with it now. It has been the same company and they’re trying. They’re awesome and friendly.

    I’ve had issues with American Home Shield’s customer service. I was trying to get information and they said they couldn’t give me any. I’m paying the service fee and they couldn’t give me the courtesy so, I asked to speak to a manager. They came back and said that they could email it and it would take five days. I never heard anything back from them and I kept calling for three days and I was getting excuses. I went on to Facebook, and somebody there told me to reach out to the actual company themselves. So, I did that and I ended up getting an email back. I went through all that when they could've just told me upfront in the beginning.

    I'm very happy with American Home Shield. I've been with them now for over 30 years through four houses. For my most recent claim, Big Al’s was excellent. I've used him twice in the last couple of years. The only people I won't deal with with AHS are the ones from A to Z Plumbing. They're thieves. Also, it's almost impossible to get somebody on the phone with AHS. The wait is terrible. I would like to get someone on the phone if I have to call for a specific service company. I used to deal with somebody for my air conditioning that used to be working for AHS but AHS stopped using them.     I've been with American Home Shield since 2015. When we bought this house, the Realtor wanted to do a different company for the home warranty but we told him we had to change them to American Home Shield 'cause we've been happy with the way American Home Shield has taken care of us. When I did a claim in August, the contractor did a really good job. He fixed our toilets. He was professional and efficient. He got it done and he did it right. If he needed to have a part replaced, he replaced the part on a couple of them. He didn't just try and piece it together so it would work and possibly break later.

    The only thing that's a little aggravating is I also have a house with American Home Shield in Leavenworth, Kansas, but I had to go to a different web address to get to it. It's kinda weird. Every time I put in a claim, I just do it through the website which is pretty easy and straightforward, but I have to remember which one of the websites I have to go to for which house I needed to do the claim on. It's the same company so it would seem like I'd go to the same place to do both policies.

    The AC kept shutting off. The contractor that American Home Shield sent replaced the thermostat and they did some stuff in the attic. They were here for about 2 hours and they came back a couple of days later. It took them like 10 minutes and they finally got it working right. One of my houses has been with American Home Shield for a little over a year and the other one has only been with them for a couple of months. What I don't like about submitting a claim online is if there's more than one thing you gotta do, you gotta do it individually. I have to make separate claims. For one thing, it’s multiple problems within the same system. If I have a plumbing problem and an electric problem, I can understand that. But if I have two electrical problems and I have to do it twice, that I don’t understand.

    The AC and the thermostat were not connecting. There was some wiring issues occurring. I went online, which was easier than calling, to file the claim. I have a person who lives on the house, but when it comes to doing the appointment, it was very easy. American Home Shield told me that same day that the contractor Amen Air would call me to make an appointment. They called me immediately and they scheduled an appointment for the next day, which was very good.

    After the service was completed, the technician called me to let me know what the issue was and that he had repaired it. Plus, he told me that they couldn't really do anything because my AC is not attached. It's a 10 feet way and the wiring is underground, so there was nothing that they could do with the wiring, which I understood because it was not part of the coverage insurance. Then, AHS called me the next day to let me know what the technician had told me. We had to call an outside AC company to go ahead and finish the project. Nevertheless, since the repair, the unit is doing good. I'd recommend AHS.

    Doing my claim online with American Home Shield was very easy. Third Generation came out for my disposal. It took a week for them to come out, but the tech fixed it within half an hour. He was in and out. He knew it couldn’t be fixed. He went out to his truck, got a disposal that was in his truck, brought it in, and installed it. He cleaned up after himself and was gone. The new disposal has been great. It’s funny because the other one was out and didn’t work for a while.     I had my AC shut down and the contractor looked at the issue and they suggested to me to have some annual plan but I didn't go with them. When I called in the claim to American Home Shield, I was looking for an appointment on the same day or the next day, but it took almost the next four of five days to get an appointment. They should give a priority depending on the area and see which is a critical thing like the AC, which is mandatory here in Florida. So, I would recommend that as a priority and due the same day, so that could be better. I would recommend AHS but they need to have some improvements in their process.

    Ace Appliance Repair was wonderful and the guy was very professional. I would be happy to have him come back again. He said the refrigerator was beyond repair. AHS wanted to replace it with another Samsung but I asked the repairman what he thought and he told me not to get another Samsung. I went with an American-made, the Whirlpool, which has a guarantee and I'm happier with it. I went to Staples and I had the claim faxed from there. I called last week on a Friday and I asked the girl if AHS got it. She said that she didn't see it and it may be under processing.     One time, our refrigerator stopped getting cold. The freezer stopped freezing too. We have service through Sears and they didn't take care of us at all. They gave us a crazy date four weeks later to come and service the machine. So, I called AHS and they were right on top of my issue. They sent Triple J Appliance Repair. I had 48 business hours to have somebody, but Triple J didn't call me right away. So I called AHS. Within 49 hours, Triple J was at the property. Their tech didn't knock on the door. Instead, the other line sounded, so I answered that. While I was on the phone with AHS, Triple J was on the other line saying that their tech was at the place and they were asking if he could come in. I said "absolutely" and their tech assessed the machinery. He then ordered the part and within two days, the refrigerator was repaired. I recommend AHS.

    I have AHS for more than 20 years: different states and properties. Within last 3 years the Replacement repairs processes are getting slower and worse. Every customer service rep. has a different version of lies. To fix anything takes weeks. I will not recommend it even to my worse enemies. I'll be looking for other companies, and there are many choices. AHS is NOT value your loyalty!
