Paid $200 in service fee for two plumbing calls clearly covered in my contract. Their contractor refused service. Had to pay $629 externally to pay it. Company won't refund the charges. Bad customer service experience overall as their service department could not contact their contractor for two weeks, and I'm sure not even then. Their service department does not take emails, so there is no chain of records. Only phone calls that have no accountability or records. Working with them through these review sites to get some attention. Highly recommend to stay away from this company because they won't be there with you in your time of need, and their service department is apparently full of folks who are trained to make false promises but not deliver.

The contractor did fix the problem for my AC unit that was not working properly. There was a sound when we turned the AC on. We went downstairs and couldn't find what was going on with it but there was definitely some weird sound. I made a claim and this guy came to my house and told me that one of the assembly attached to the AC unit inside my house was somewhat loose. He made it tighter and also adjusted the assembly. Now, it does not make the sound anymore. With American Home Shield, I like that I have someone to call instead of searching for reliable handyman all the time.

I submitted a claim with Home Shield on my phone, online, for a pipe leak. And then, when the tech came, he went straight to the problem and fixed it the same day. I like Home Shield. I'm glad I still have them.

My dryer was acting weird, making funny noises, and it wasn't working properly. The contractor responded the next day and fixed it quickly and very professionally. He had a piece of what was needed and changed it immediately. So, it was a great service and it was awesome. I did another claim with American Home Shield a week before that one for my water heater. It hasn't been solved yet. The provider hasn’t come yet to fix it and it's been two weeks. It is crazy without water. The first time, they were saying that something was missing in the schedule. So, they missed the appointment. They rescheduled me for a couple of days later. The technician came, verified what was needed and what was the problem. They are scheduled to repair tomorrow so hopefully, they come. AHS have been so helpful and so far, it’s been more than great.

My problem started with some plugs on my fan that were bad. Then one thing led to another. I called American Home Shield and said I have some electrical issues. The fan is working nicely after the service. But the tech put in some new outlets and they're real stiff and hard to get things in them. It's not his fault that the outlets are stiff. He said they make them differently now. But I'm very happy with everything. Everything was fine with American Home Shield. They were fabulous.

My cousin in Texas got American Home Shield five years ago and later on, he told me about it and I got it. Then, I told all of my kids about it and they got it. I also told my sister about it and I got it for her. I tell everybody I know that they need American Home Shield just like having life insurance. I call in to submit a claim and it's easy to do. Their customer service is great and their techs are professional. The one that came out and put my air condition in last year was so helpful and I got more than I asked for. He explained everything really well. Then the tech from Precision Service Company was really good too. And the AC has been running well since the service.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your AC request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Your malfunction will always be our priority. We look forward to our continued business together. Take Care.

American Home Shield is pretty good. But people should read the coverage, especially the fine print, because there would be some things that we'd think would be covered sometimes but they were not. People should know what they were paying for. The claim submission was great. I had to add something in it. Although I wasn't able to change it online like I thought I would be able to, I was able to call the customer service and they added it to it. Then, Dustin from J & K Plumbing came out and took care of it. I need to call him again 'cause now, the line on my other AC unit needs to be blown out too. If American Home Shield could make an app that was easy to use, that would be really cool.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The technician from Paul's Unique Services came out for the washer and everything went fine. He explained to me in detail what he was looking for and what he was checking. Then, he told me what he had established about. With the washer not draining, the board had went out on it. He put it in as unrepairable so I'm waiting on American Home Shield. They’ve given me my options and I also went on to try to look and purchase myself. It was still gonna be around about the same time that they could get it so, I'm gonna wait until they do the purchase and send it out and do the installation. Everything's good with AHS and I'm satisfied.

Our air conditioning was not working. The claim was handled very well. The contractors that came were very responsive. They showed up the next day and tried to fix it. They realized they needed a piece, so they did a workaround. Then they came back a day later, but they stayed in communication the whole time. We've had American Home Shield for quite some time. This is the second home we've had it on and I've got nothing but good service from them and from their providers throughout the years. I live in a small enough area that we tend to get the same contractors a lot, which is good. It's been a good experience with American Home Shield. We've been satisfied every single time we've had a claim. I would recommend them to any of my friends and have actually.

The air conditioning unit was cycling on and off. I’m usually at a computer all day long so I just logged right in to submit a claim. Once you log in, it was right there. The issue was it didn't give you the alternative, like a memo or note, because we had two things. When it asked questions, I didn't know which box to check because two applied. And it only gave me the option to check one. It should have a note box where if you wanted to say something because I wasn't sure which one would be the right answer there.
When I submitted the claim, the website told me to expect to hear from someone within 24 hours, and the contractor did. The guy from Fast Response Heating and Cooling came out. He was phenomenally nice, informative type of thing. The outdoor unit had burnt out. It needed to be replaced. And then, the contractor had to order the part. I reached out because they said they needed to come by and deliver the part. I told them I would be home on such and such dates. And the, the tech reached out and said, “Oh, it was outside. I've already been by and fixed it.” That was weird because there is that little piece in your mind if they actually fixed anything. But the air conditioning works, so I guess they did. I never saw them on the follow-up. I'm assuming they took my money and replaced the part, that it wasn't some scam of, “Give us your money today, and we'll come back and fix it.” I tell people about American Home Shield. It’s a phenomenal thing.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

The drip pan for the inside unit was rusted through and it was dripping water. I had a bucket collecting water, but I'd have to empty the bucket every so often. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim. The unit's a Trane, so we got the Trane part number, and Comfort First Heating and Cooling went ahead and they purchased the part. It's plastic now so it's not gonna rust. It took them a little bit to install it because of difficulty of the older unit. They had to drill out some rivets. The team did a really good job. It was just painstaking on them. But all in all, they got it done, everything's running great, and it was a great team to have.

I love American Home Shield. I used to be a realtor and I always recommend my customers to get them. Even if it is a new house, you just never know. When our air conditioning stopped working, PlumbRUs got totally inside there and made it work. They were nice guys. In fact, I had them do some more work afterwards. I was happy enough with them. I did the claim in the automated thing. I tried to connect to a customer service rep at first but I got hung up on. The disappointment for me was I couldn't find out when they would come. It was a Sunday when my air conditioning went out and I couldn't get an answer. That's why I wanted to talk to somebody in person ‘cause I was hoping to get an answer that way. But that didn't work out very well.

There was something going on with our lights as they were flickering. Our power kept going out in very limited sections of the house, like one room or two different rooms. I was afraid that there was a short in the house. I called American Home Shield and Pajak Electrical Services was assigned to us. Pajak came very highly recommended. And even before I realized I could call American Home Shield for that, it was one of those deals where I started inquiring locally about electricians. I was gonna call Pajak but I realized that my American Home Shield covered that.
Pajak gave us an advance notice and their tech called before he even came out. He was great. He was very friendly, courteous, and thorough. He went through everything and checked all the boxes. Everything was fine but he said he thought that there was something wrong with one of the phases coming from the transformer, meaning it had to do with the electric company. Sure enough, that was what it is. After he left, I called Pedernales Electric Cooperative and they came out and they fixed it. We haven't had the problem since. I'm very happy and satisfied with American Home Shield. This is our second year with them.

The AC would not push out cool air and then it just stopped working. Ethan came and fixed the problem within 15 minutes. He was great and he was very polite. Submitting the request was extremely easy as well and then I had to call American Home Shield to follow up on one of my requests because I was playing phone tag with the technician to get him out. I called American Home Shield and they put me on hold, got him on the phone and had him out that day. They were wonderful.
Any type of company like this, it's one of those, "Are you wasting your money or are you really gonna need them?" American Home Shield really helped. What we would be spending on them every month is the same as us going out to dinner for two people. It is totally worth the investment to go for a company like this because it takes away all the hassle and all the stress for when something does come up.

I got on there and I was able to accomplish what I was trying to. American Home Shield got me in contact with the contractor and the contractor reached out. We scheduled an appointment then they came out on the appointment. They were able to find the issue and made the repair. It went pretty seamlessly for me. The technician that came out was very professional and we're very satisfied. American Home Shield was very efficient for me. I saved some out-of-pocket expenses because I have them. The guy came out here and looked at everything. But everything looked good. He told me it was nothing that we needed to worry about right now. He was super professional. He stopped to ask me if I had any questions and he was able to explain everything that I did have questions on. He was able to explain everything outside and on the side of the house more to where I could understand it.

I was originally gonna call American Home Shield because I had some questions. I had two things at the same time so I was gonna try to do them at once and I didn't know if I could have two open cases. I needed to get those done and I had a vacation plan. So, it was ideal to make sure I was here for the service people to come. But that question answered itself when I filed everything online. It was super smooth and easy. Both companies called me back that same day to schedule an appointment.
I had a great service from Beyer Appliances for my refrigerator. There was a broken thing in the water thing and that part got resolved. They replaced the icemaker but the technician said that there's some motor that feeds the water to the icemaker. So, he's gonna call me back and do that. There’s still a part pending so that case is still open but everything's been great so far. With the plumbing, the kid was cool and everything was taken care of. So, everything was great with that too.
Wearing a mask is super important in my house. The technicians both wore their masks at all times and they had little hand sanitizer things with them. So, they were perfect with that. I'm a super freak about that kind of stuff because I work in the grocery industry and they followed that to a tee without even being asked. I would highly recommend AHS. My next door neighbor recommended it to me. When the first service call was made and when the reps had to come back, I asked if that was gonna cost me another hundred dollars. It did not because it wasn't closed yet. So I was super happy with it. It's amazing.

My recent experience with American Home Shield has been a little tumultuous. I had made a claim for my washer, my dishwasher and my exhaust fan on my oven range to be looked at. Initially, the person that they sent out must have had issues with dogs because they walked in and walked right out. They said that my house was not clean enough for them even though I made their dispatcher aware that we are in the middle of listing our house for sale and we have contractors in and out.
The guy came into my house being painted and they were aware of that. He walked in and said, “The kitchen looks a little busy for me. Why don't I go and start on the washer?” They were just taping off the room to paint after he had left. I said “Okay, we'll go into the laundry room.” We went into the laundry room and he saw two baskets of laundry in there that were not even full. He said he couldn't get access to the washer. I said I was going to move those and he'd have easy access to the washer. It's a pretty big laundry room. I'm able to fit two washer and dryer in there and still have room to walk around and navigate. He walked back out and said, “Okay, I guess I'll just go try and work on the dishwasher.” He walked in and there happened to be one of the contractors standing over the sink next to the dishwasher, taping off. He said he couldn't get access so I was gonna have to reschedule.
I called and said, “He thinks that it's too busy here right now. Can we reschedule for Friday?” There was supposed to be no one else here. They said they would call me back with the time because if I needed to do it in the afternoon, I needed to move around the schedule. Thursday came and it showed that the claim was closed. I called the contractor and asked, "Why did you close the claim when you guys haven't done anything? You literally walked in and you left.” He was here all of five minutes. The rep said that American Home Shield was going with another contractor.
I called American Home Shield and they told me that the contractor refused to come back because he claimed that there were poop and pee and I had 15 dogs. First of all, I have five dogs, not 15. Second of all, if there were poop and pee all over the place, why would those other contractors be in the house? Adding fuel to the fire, that very same day when I called to figure out why that claim was closed as completed, there was another contractor in the house from American Home Shield for my leaky faucet in the laundry room and the garbage disposal in the kitchen right next to the dishwasher where he claimed he couldn't work. He was able to complete his job completely fine.
That is the second time that American Home Shield has sent out a contractor that has over-exaggerated or made it seem like I have the dirtiest house in the world. I had an electrical issue in my kids’ rooms where both the lights were not working and none of the outlets were working too. I called American Home Shield and they sent out the contractor. The contractor came out and of course, the rooms were pitch black. One of my dogs who was blind and disabled happened to go into that room and peed. Apparently, he thought that meant that there was poop all over the house. He said, “We're not gonna be able to fix it today. I'll call American Home Shield.” Literally, he hadn’t been gone for more than 10 minutes and American Home Shield called me. The rep said, "I'm sorry. I don't mean to offend you but the contractor says that they won't come back because your house is not clean. It's got poop and pee all over the place.”
First of all, there was only one spot of pee and the dog is a blind and disabled dog. We couldn't see in there that was why I had them there. The rep said, "I'm gonna need you to send me a picture because either he's over exaggerating or you're lying.” I got a spotlight and put it in both of the rooms that he was working in. I even did a video from the entrance of my house to the walkway to where he was going to, to show her that there were no poop and pee all over the place because from the time that he left to the time that she called me was like 10 minutes. How would I have been able to clean all of that up if he made it seem like he couldn't even walk into the house?
American Home Shield offers great coverage. However, it's super frustrating when they're sending these contractors out that either are over-exaggerating or are being snooty. If you don't like dogs then just say that. The dogs weren't even in the house. I made sure that they were outside. The only one that was actually in the house was the blind one and that's because he can't be outside on his own. He will bump into things.
I made a claim about electrical right after this whole thing with the washer and the dishwasher and the hood vent, and I still haven't gotten a person assigned. I literally had to call back five or six times in order to get someone assigned for the washer and the dishwasher afterwards to the point where I ended up having to just go and buy a new washer then wait for them to come out for the dishwasher. When they assigned the new person for the dishwasher and the hood vent, they only assigned someone for the dishwasher and didn't have anybody for the hood vent. So now the person for the hood vent isn't supposed to come out till tomorrow. But the dishwasher isn't going to be fixed and it's super frustrating that I've paid so much money every month for this service and for the deductibles, and I'm not getting the service that I'm supposed to be getting. I am ready to cancel American Home Shield after I sell this house and not get it on my own house. I'd go to the other warranty place that they have for houses.

My parents had American Home Shield and they told me to get it when I get my own house. A couple of years into living at our old house, I signed up with the home warranty and I stuck with it. We've also had the warranty at this house for probably two years. American Home Shield is not perfect but it's good enough. I would recommend it, especially if somebody has appliances that are out of warranty and if people don’t have a lot of money to spend on repairs. It's nice knowing that it's a flat fee when a tech is coming out to do something. It keeps the uncertainty down.
It pays for itself when one of our appliances craps out and we need to get a new one. But we only have it because our appliances are out of warranty. Other than that, we wouldn't carry the service. When I look at the review of the contractors online, they're horrible. It's not the greatest quality of companies that are contracting through American Home Shield. But I don't have one particular company I can point to and say they were horrible. It's just there are delays. I had to reach out and schedule them to come out to work on our dishwasher next week. I find that weird. They should have called me when I did my request.
For a claim we had with our dryer, Astro Appliance came out. It took a day or two to schedule the service but it was faster this time to schedule than the last time. We had a problem with our dryer two weeks ago then it kinda reoccurred. The technician who came this time wasn't the same one that had been out before and he didn't have any PPE on. He thinks that he got the issue fixed by replacing a fuse. We got enough information that we felt comfortable. We didn’t press him on that then. But he didn't seem to know which fuse had been replaced by the last technician. It didn't seem like there was a good handover on the issue. Other than that, the dryer is working now so that's really good.

One of the problems with American Home Shield is not so much making a claim but getting someone out there in a timely manner. Where I live in Lake Havasu, Arizona, it's really hot. You kinda need like almost same day service 'cause you have no way of keeping your home cool and it's absolutely miserable when your AC breaks. I made my claim on Friday and the contractor wasn't able to come out till Monday. Luckily, I was able to get it working by fudging around with it. I got it running and I just left the fan on it. The problem was the fan was having trouble coming on.
The people that I had prior asked if I cleaned my filter to which I answered yes. They asked, "Is it dirty or clean?" I said I do it once a month. The guy started going off on me. Those people told the warranty company what happened but totally ignored what I told them was going on. I live there. I'm not an air condition repairman but I work on cars and stuff. I have an idea of the blower fan and the compressor. You can hear it turn on. I knew what's going on. I said the compressor was coming on but no air was coming out thru the fan's blower motor. They went ahead and said my unit was dirty. It probably was but that wasn't the issue. They left and said, "If you have any problems, then we'll come back." But after that experience, I got rid of that warranty company and went with American Home Shield.
The guy called me and I explained to him what happened. He was very understanding of my complaint. He was listening. I told him the fan was not coming on. I wasn't telling him what to do but I was suggesting it was either the blower motor or the relay for the blower fan. We also had a smart thermostat which we purchased back when we remodeled our home and I didn't like it. He wound up changing that anyway and I didn't even tell him that. It was really awesome. He put a simple one and I loved it. The other one, every time, it would be setting off during the day at different times and you had to read the book and try to figure it out. It was just a pain. He put the new relay in and the new thermostat on, and it hasn't worked this good. I've had the unit for a long time and it's been struggling for years. It comes on now within five seconds instead of just hearing the compressor running, running, then finally kicking in. It works really good and I'm really happy with it.
They were also really efficient and fast once they were there. They did both things and were there for like an hour and that was good. American Home Shield got me in touch with the people and I didn't have any problem. It wasn't their fault as far as the time that it took for the contractor to come out. That's the way their business operates. It was a good experience with them also.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

It has been fairly easy calling in claims to American Home Shield. Some of their reps have an accent and I have a hard time understanding them. Still, their reps and I eventually work things out and get the job done. The tech who came for AHS from Empire Heating and Cooling was very helpful. He explained what was going on to me. He went up to my AC and didn't see any issue. It wasn't wet and he just told me to keep an eye on it. He did a little test on it and saw that it was draining like it was supposed to drain. Things have been fine so far since then. With my claim for my oven, the tech wasn't able to find the part needed but American Home Shield was. I received the parts and now I have to wait a while for their contractor to come out and put those parts in. I'm still waiting for a part for my washing machine claim as well.

The technician came to fix the microwave 'cause it wasn't working. He fixed a part and I thought, "Hey, it's gonna work." However, when I tried to make my baked potato, I put the microwave on reheat and it gave me an F4. The technician didn't realize the F4 'cause when he put the microwave off, it was working and we didn't push the reheater. When the technician came back, he said he couldn't fix it 'cause it was an F4. He was gonna talk to his manager and then he said the manager was gonna call me. The manager never called, so I called back and asked what was going on. They were waiting for American Home Shield to give them authority to order a part.
I called American Home Shield, and the lady told me it was ordered. Yesterday, I got a text saying they ordered it and now, I'm waiting for the technician to bring the parts in. I have submitted others claims as well and they were fine. One was for my refrigerator, and then my air conditioning stopped, but it was working. I just didn't push the buttons right. At another time, I had a dishwasher service request, but it was because I put the wrong soap, so that was okay too.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for the washer and then, I got an email back. It was a confirmation when the contractor would be out and I set up a date. The technician came out and reviewed the problem. He ordered the parts and when the parts came in, I got an email saying that they would be out again to put the part in. The second technician came and he reviewed a few other things because it was smelling burnt. But it was clogged in another place. It was still throwing water out so he did fix the problem completely to where there was no water. It was a good service and a fast response. I’ve had AHS before, which was why I got it again.

I had someone come out to check on my furnace so that I could turn it on, and he must’ve bumped something that shut down my water heater. The guy from Allstate Plumbing came out and restarted it, and it's been fine ever since. I like the fact that when I need something, American Home Shield calls their people and they come. I just moved into my condo, and I had a house before that. I would oftentimes set something up with a plumber or a house person, and they wouldn't show up. So, I do enjoy that I have that insurance behind me because they come. They're always pleasant, and they always do their job. Doing claims is pretty easy. I just go on to my account and say, “I need this done. This is not working,” and within 24 hours, they're back giving me a name. I'm very satisfied. They've been really good to me.

My garage door opener sensor was reacting too much. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and the contractor they sent was excellent. He saw what the problem was in less than 50 minutes. He also did more service such as spraying, oiling and applying WD40. A sensor had to be pushed a little bit as it had gotten bumped out of line. He then showed me the areas to look out for and be careful of.
For some of my claims with Home Shield, the contractor has had to schedule his return, order parts and come back later. So, some issues take longer. Still, everything has been handled well and to my satisfaction. AHS has been timely. If people are thinking of getting a home warranty, I'd recommend Home Shield. I've been very happy with the repairs I've received.

We're now on our second year with American Home Shield in this house, and I had it for two years on my previous house as well. One experience I had when I had it in my other house was the background one of the technicians that was sent was not very clean. When I was talking to the technician, he said some things which made me uncomfortable. That technician also came to our place four times and he wasn't able to fix the problem.
I would like American Home Shield to vet all their technicians or the companies they work with thoroughly. At another time, I had the same problem and American Home Shield assigned the same technician, and I said, "No, I don't want to have that technician coming. Please reassign." Initially, they hesitated and said, "No, this is assigned by the system and that's the one coming." I said, "No, I had not a good experience. I want someone else."
This time, our dishwasher was not filling with water, so I made an appointment with American Home Shield online and they assigned First Tech Solution to solve the problem. I then called First Tech myself to make an appointment, and they were able to give me appointment the next day. The guy came on time and he was able to fix problem in five minutes. It was a very minor problem.
Thanks for reaching out to provide that feedback. I am glad the contractors followed through with the appointment that was set but happier for you that your issue has been resolved. We are here for you if you need us in the future. Take Care.

I was on Home Shield for three years then went off for a year or two. We reinitiated again a while ago. It’s been off and on for six years. They have a very simple claim process. The only thing that can sometimes be a little difficult is if there's a follow up that needs to be completed. Sometimes it gets lost in the orders. And it it's not necessarily with Home Shield but the providers too. Home Shield is pretty good at following up with additional services needed. I had a leak presenting from my washing machine and I was unsure where it was coming from. Sears came out, assessed it, and found the leak. They ordered a part and had it replaced within a week. They did it quickly too. No concerns have occurred since.
A home warranty is really helpful for people that are first-time homebuyers or buying an older house because there are plans that cover the electrical and plumbing issues, which may not be known about when they first move in. Most commonly, people think it's items that are new inside the house that can be covered if they break down. But an existing item can be covered too.

I made a claim when my AC wasn't blowing the whole house and they sent out Myers Comfort. The AC is still not blowing the other part of the house completely fully and efficiently. It's still not doing 100% in the master bedroom to the bathroom. I can tell how cool it is on one side versus in my bedroom and my bathroom. But the tech said the AC was working properly. He said he would give some kind of callback out if the AC was still not gonna be blowing out the whole house. He’s thinking it's because the air filter was dirty. He showed me how to change the air filter and I didn't know where that was at. It was dirty.
I also had another claim with American Home Shield before for my dryer and the contractor never showed up. They were rude. American Home Shield wanted to send someone else but I just wanted to cancel. They just refunded my $75 back. Somebody else just fixed the dryer. That aside, I would recommend American Home Shield to anybody buying a house. I like that they can get somebody over here fast and I also like that I could pay the 75 service fee. If the contractor actually comes out and does some work, that's really great. But if they don't then it's really bad. It's a waste.

American Home Shield is okay. I've heard so many horror stories. I was on the defense when I have to have a claim. It's like, "Oh, God. Am I gonna fight like everyone else? Are they gonna be decent and pay my bills like I need?" I had the air conditioner for my side and the furnace and the air conditioner for the tenant’s side done. It first started with my tenants being out of air conditioning. That took a while, but they said it was because they couldn't get the part. They then repaired that air conditioner. I was beginning to wonder if American Home Shield was ever gonna take care of it or not or if I have a fight on my hands, but they did all right with that. The problem on that one was it was two weeks before they could even get a new machine in here.
Now AirPro comes along and says, "They shouldn't have repaired it. They should have got you a new one." That ticked me off. That means by next year, they'll be paying for another one. The tenants then found the furnace problem and that one took a while too. American Home Shield didn't believe the first contractor and I was beginning to wonder if I was gonna get it in before they needed the furnace for the winter months. They finally got AirPro out here and still, it’s the same result, to have a new furnace. The guy was very efficient with that one, but before he was advised, the process didn't go fast.
I had the guy from AirPro before and he's always prompt when he comes. He's also very personable, and he does a good job, cleans up, and leaves. I could not ask for a better professional. He always puts booties on when he came in the house, so he didn't get anything on my carpet. He wore his mask as well. When I had to have the new air conditioner on my side, Rick took care of it almost instantaneously. As soon as he got the part, they called and got me right in. They got it fixed.

The AC unit itself was not cooling and I initiated my claim through American Home Shield. I used their mobile tool and it was simple. It's linked directly to my phone so I am able to go in the application and submit my claim using their dropdown menus, and I'm able to submit my claim 24 hours a day. They assign a technician or a company to me and normally, that technician calls during the next business day. An initial company was dispatched but there was no resolution with that company. We went about 60 days with no work being done on the machine. I brought it to the attention of AHS and they immediately rectified it and got someone else out here. I got a second opinion from AC Plus. They came out and assessed the unit and was able to get me the parts that I needed for the unit and fixed it within a two-week timespan. I was extremely impressed that they handled the AC issue right away.
I had a few home warranty companies but AHS met all of the requirements that a typical home warranty company would. They've been servicing the home that I have now for a little over two years and overall, I'm satisfied with them. There were some companies that came out that weren't up to par. Once I call AHS, they're usually very quick to send someone else out.

I filed a claim because our boiler system quit working. It took about 10 days to get somebody out to our house and the closest contractor is two and a half hours away from where we live. When the contractor called me, I explained what was going on. They had told us they wouldn't even come look at our boiler system. We got a chimney sweep out and had the chimney completely inspected. They said that they would need everything in writing showing that it was inspected.
We had a situation that was kind of an emergency and the boiler system was putting CO2 out into our house. We had to call the fire department when it all first happened. We had to vacate our house. The fire department had to clear our house and shut the gas lines off. We submitted the claim right away and we were told it would be 24 hours before someone would call us back. We had to call a local contractor to come in for safety reasons right away. He looked at our boiler system and said we need a whole new boiler system. But he got everything to where it was safe for us. That was when the home warranty company set up this other contractor. He made contact with us, told us what he wanted to do and it was gonna be 10 days. It started getting cold outside and we had no heat but that was as soon as they could get to us.
The tech came out last night. He told me over the phone that he was setting it up for 5 o'clock. Then I got an email shortly after that that said the appointment was for 5:00 to 7:00 PM. He did not show up until 7:38 last night. He was super annoyed to even really be at our house. I had the paperwork ready to give to him from the chimney sweep showing that our chimney was clear. He just kind of looked at us he didn't need it. So, we had that extra additional cost out of our pocket to have a chimney sweep come to our house. That was very annoying to us.
He looked at our boiler system and said that he felt it needed cleaned out. The only way that he could clean it out was to bring a garden hose into our basement and flush it out with water with it. He said it was gonna be a giant mess. We have a finished basement and there is no way. He said there was a way that he could clean it differently but he didn't have the type of mask that was needed to be able to handle cleaning it the other way. We told him he was not bringing a garden hose into our basement unless our home warranty is going to pay to have everything completely fixed in our basement due to water damage from him cleaning our boiler system.
We told him what the first contractor had shared with us that we need a new boiler system. He told us our home warranty won't pay for that. This guy did nothing to ease our mind. He said the home warranty company takes forever to get back to them and it would be a while before he could even get back there. He said, "You guys should go out and buy electric space heaters and put electric space heaters all over in your house until we can get this fixed." We're not going out and buying electric space heaters.
We were not happy at all. He did not act like he wanted to fix our problem. This morning, I called a third contractor on our own to come out and give us another opinion. He said, "I will be there as soon as I can tomorrow." Then this guy coming two and a half hours away took him 10 days to get here and was telling us it could be another couple weeks. I am a realtor so I sell American Home Shield. It's very disappointing. We, as realtors, add on these home warranties for our clients. I at least have a knowledge of the real estate business but for some of our clients trying to navigate this process, it would be such a headache.

I had just moved into the house a few days before I made a claim to AHS. The owner of the home didn't fix the breaker. So that was why I had to have someone come out and replace it. The contractor was efficient. He took care of that and also made sure that the breaker that wasn't working, actually worked at that point. It was the washer and the dryer that wouldn't allow me to be able to use it since it was broken. So he plugged everything up to make sure it was working before he left. He was quick about it when he came in. Submitting the claim with AHS was a smooth process. American Home Shield was pretty on top of it.

When you purchase a house, if you're smart, you would have the seller purchase a home warranty for you for a year. Generally, they end up buying Home Shield, so they are the well-known brand. The only thing I had going on in September was a garbage disposal repair. It was pretty easy to contact Home Shield. The guys that they sent out did a good job. They fixed the garbage disposal. Everything's working fine now. It was what was expected of Home Shield and the contractor came and did what I expected them to do.
At one point long ago, when I first got them at my very first property that I purchased in Maryland, they sent out the same plumbing service seven times. Those guys were awful. They tracked mud through the house. They didn't clean up after themselves. The fact that I had to call them seven times to fix the problem was an issue in itself. I tried contacting Home Shield to try to get them to send out a different plumber but they refused to do it. They said, "No, this is the only guys we're contacting." Once I call them, I get a response from the contractor in less than a day. Then we schedule from there depending on my schedule and they come out. The most important thing that people should understand is that there's still a fee involved during the visit and they need to pay that upfront. The second part was a knob and I thought they were going to mail i, but the technician came out and gave me the knob to door. I was impressed with that.
I’ve had some degradation of services prior to the AAA Appliance. I have an ongoing issue with the central air unit that was repaired, and then two weeks later, I had to pay a deductible to replace it. Every year I've been charged to put Freon in that unit so I have been at wits ends with American Home Shield on that issue. One of the service technicians came out and said that there was a fault in the install that was why I'm leaking Freon every year. American Home Shield's response to me has been, “Let us know the next time it happens.” Well, of course that's gonna be next season. But other than that, my service with them has been great. It was more of those written responses that they're trained to learn from rather than address the situation. And every time they would give a person to try to talk to, there was just no communication. It was awful. It wasn't until corporate got involved that we started seeing some things.
This past claim that I had on the second house, the representatives knew what they were doing. They were very efficient. I was very shocked and pleasantly surprised. I've dealt with other warranty companies and Home Shield is one of the good ones. I had a horrible experience with a warranty I had. They kept going back and denying a claim. I went to Home Shield specifically because in their claim, they said normal wear and tear, even if there's rust or something like that. Also, being able to submit claims is easily done online and I get an answer right away. With other companies, I never even know if it went through but with Home Shield, it's very clear that it went through. I get some sort of communication and they assign someone pretty quickly. I like that. I had a plumbing issue recently. My sink was stopped up and Neely Brothers Construction and Plumbing came out. The only thing was it took a few days for them to get here but once they got here, they resolved it right away.
Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your service request. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

The AC motor was heating and I called American Home Shield. Somebody texted me a time that the contractor was gonna come out. The technician fixed it and now, it’s working fine. I also did a claim with the electrical. All the outlets were falling out of the wall when we moved in. So, the guy put them all back in for us. The fuse box cover wasn’t on so he put the fuse box cover on for us too. There was a breaker as well that was messed up and he fixed that. Thank God I have a home warranty.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

I’m a real estate agent and I bought this AHS because I usually buy it for my clients, but I don't really know what it is so I've been using it as an experience and see what it's all about. First of all, it takes me two to three hours on the phone to reach one of their people to schedule and that’s been all the way straight through up until this week. I had a two hour 40-minute wait and I have to work. Then the vendors that they're picking are subpar. They're horrible. It’s taken me two and three vendors to get a decent one.
My refrigerator had an ice buildup. I was on hold for two hours to file the claim while I was trying to do my work. The first company that came out was a young guy in holey jeans. He drove up in a small car, had no tools, and flip flops. He came in and looked at my refrigerator and told me it was the gasket on the freezer side then he went away. Then the problem was that there was this huge delay which was seven days. This guy's company called me and said they would send the guy back. He came out and I told him that he's putting in a gasket. He said that he didn't even know why he was there so then he Facetimes his boss and his boss said they couldn't fix it. I had to go again and file and call AHS to say that the guy had been out twice. 14 days had gone by and my refrigerator was not cold. The third company that came out was very professional and fixed the whole problem.
The same thing with the oven. The first guy said he couldn't fix it unless I tell what it was doing. I told him that the oven shuts off in the middle of baking a roast or it doesn't turn off at the end of baking. He asked what was the code on the digital panel. I didn't know I had to write the code down. Then he said he couldn't fix it and he left. I called AHS back with two hours wait. It was March and it was COVID, and they couldn't send anybody out. I waited as long as I could with a broken oven trying to cook things. Then they sent out another guy who told me that all the digital codes were in history. So, all the codes came up of what was wrong with the oven. The second guy diagnosed it then I had to wait another seven to 10 days to find out they couldn't find the part ‘cause it's an old oven.
They said I could order a part and they didn't tell me the size or shape. They sent me six ovens. I went on hold for another two and a half hours and I told AHS about it. They said that the appliance guy told them it would be my old oven size, so they suggested the exact same measurements. I picked out what AHS suggested and it was brought out. The vendor couldn't install it because the wiring in my house was three wires and the oven’s four, which none of us knew. Needless to say, I paid $1,400 yesterday to get the electrical change. Had I known this, I would’ve returned the oven. It's still sitting in my kitchen and it's another seven days until AHS would send an appliance guy to see if he could maybe install it. I don't even know if it fits, because they told me it was their company's pick. If it doesn't fit, then I'm stuck with an oven like that. It has been absolutely crazy.
My hot water tank broke right before COVID. Jacobs Family Plumbing came out twice and thought they fixed the problem those times. I didn't wanna call them back a third time. AHS was gonna replace it, but it would be three weeks without hot water. Finally Googled it, went to the hardware store, bought a flapper and installed it myself, and that fixed the problem, then get credit. I did it in three days and AHS was saying three weeks. The vendor was pleasant and nice but they didn't solve the problem. Also, they were dispatched from a city called Everett, and I live south of Seattle so every time they had to come down, it was over an hour, a 20-minute drive for them. The vendor vetting has to be a little bit better. Also, they're coming from an hour and a half away, so they're disgruntled when they get to my house. Maybe some of them chose to drive that far.
One time I called AHS and they told me to leave my number and they would call me back. That happened only once, and I don't know why they got rid of that. They called me back and that was more efficient than me holding a cell phone. It's bad advertising for them. I'm running around an office with 400 agents and they would ask why my cell phone is on music, ‘cause I'm waiting for my two and a half hours. So to me, calling the people back makes more sense than having us wait on hold. It makes people less angry. I wouldn't recommend them right now because none of my clients wanna be on hold for three hours.

In the five years I've had the home warranty, they've been super beneficial although they are a hit or miss. Sometimes it take a long time for my issues to be fixed. But I like the fact that, at least, they listened to my claim and they were able to be responsive in terms of getting me assigned to a contractor and following through with the contractor to ensure that my job was done. Also, they were able to get some items replaced in my home such as my hot water heater, which is a major cost. They were also able to get some folks that were efficient to fix my HVAC.
For a plumbing issue I had, I got really good service from American Home Shield in terms of responsiveness. Everything went great. AA Twins Plumbing was able to get out here within a day or two. That was really good. The plumber called me beforehand and he asked me what type of garbage disposal unit I had. When he came in, he diagnosed the problem and said it looked like the garbage disposal had to be replaced. I guess he got the requisite approval. He was done within 15 to 20 minutes of replacing the unit. From the time I made the call to the removal and replacement of my garbage disposal unit, it took about three days. I'm super satisfied with that. Also, the plumber wore his mask the whole time and he had some booties on for his feet. Had no contact with me and he walked directly into the home in a straight path and followed that path out.

The moment I turned on the hot water in the bathtub, it caused it to be like a waterfall in the basement. It was a leaky faucet and when I would fill the tub up to take a bath, it would flood out the bottom of the tub. I talked to AHS and their reps were friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. I was so grateful to even have a home warranty that was going to be taking care of my issue and I can't even describe how excited that made me when they said that they'd send someone out. Then I got a text and an email about my claim. It's a very simple app to use on my phone, so the process was easy.
When the tech came out, he was very knowledgeable and very polite. We talked and he told me that he had been in the business for 30 years. I trusted him immediately and he went above and beyond. He was also clean and neat. He got the job done and since the repair, my life has been 1,000% better. There has been no leaks or drips. The shower now works as well but before, I couldn't use it because it just sprayed out all over the place.

The fridge door went out of balance and needed to be adjusted and fixed. Sears came out within four days and they fixed the issue. They were very good and everything's working. I've had American Home Shield for more than 15 years and I like them very much. The claims process online is very easy but it doesn't take all the information. You just submit the request and then a rep has to call you back with everything else and schedule it. It would have been really good if it can be done end-to-end and the necessary information provided so you don't have to get separate calls. Other than that, I like the service. But I'm switching this year to another provider because they increased prices substantially over the last three years. I'm going with Choice because they have better prices.

For the dryer fixing, the technicians came from Sears. It was the partner in that area. The first time when they came, they replaced immediately. But the second person didn't have the part, so he needed to go to the shop again and come back in the evening. It took a longer time, but that's fine. They didn't have the part easily. There were two issues. The first one, they fixed. Then again, after two weeks, the issue came back. Then the second time, it was fixed. The thermostat, which was causing the issue, was what they replaced. Now it is fine. Home Shield is good.

I'm not always at my computer where I can go online and place my order, which is very easy to do. Sometimes I'm on the road and I know something's wrong at the house, and I'm trying to call and they're kinda hard to reach sometimes during business hours. But they're open 24/7. Their 800 numbers are sometimes kinda tough. But they make it really easy online and if you call after 5 o'clock, generally you have zero problems getting through to them. Hopwood Electric came out for an electrical issue. The service guy was very personable and he went over everything and tried to tell me everything. I was in the process trying to find my contract, which I couldn't find, but he was explaining to me everything that he was doing. He had a face mask on, too. He was pretty quick and very knowledgeable.
I didn't really care for American Home Shield's agents, though. I called for two different appointments. The guy that set up the appointment couldn't comprehend what I was saying. I had a plumbing issue, which was the kitchen. I told him I had a leak in the kitchen and it was coming from the disposal. He asked me which bathroom was it. I said, " Excuse me?" He said, "You said had a leak in the sink. Which bathroom?" I said, "No, I said kitchen. I said it's the disposal." He didn't understand when I was talking about the disposal. So the plumbing guy came here. Now, he was running late, and I kinda figure out he was probably stuck on a job. So it was not a big deal to me that he was late.
He was pretty quick but then he said he was not gonna be able to do the repair because he saw that I had a planter underneath the sink to catch the water underneath the disposal. He said, "Oh, the guy wrote down it was just a leak in a sink." I told him I was clear about the disposal. So then he had to order the piece because he didn't come with the disposal.
When I called back the next day, the AHS reps said, "Well, you have here it's a leak in the sink." I said, "No. I clearly said..." They then said, "Okay. Well, we'll have to pull the call and listen to it." I told them that was fine but I still needed somebody to come around here to make sure that the guy was coming. She said she would have somebody call me and they would look at it. She never did. So the next day, I called back and the girl I spoke to said the same thing. I told her I was just trying to find out if the tech was coming or not.
I put a call into the contractor too. They called me back later to set it up and said they had the part and he was coming out here, and he fixed it in less than 10 minutes. But the AHS rep I spoke with was arguing back and forth with me and was going on and on. I was so upset. I said, "You know, give me your manager on the phone." I find that with a lot of companies, it's one thing to speak English, but another thing is the comprehension.

We sent a claim to AHS and they sent out Exit Garage Doors. However, the techs couldn't get into my garage and they couldn't do anything. When we got into our garage, we discovered that the problem had nothing to do with the door. We had a huge power failure. A week and a half later, we noticed that power was out in our garage. We called out American Home Shield for an electrician and they sent City First Electric. The tech from there did a marvelous job. It took him a while but he found the circuit breaker that had been tripped. Once we flipped that, we've had power since. I like that AHS generally works. I've never had them come out and not be able to fix a problem unless it isn't within their specialty. This warranty is worth it.

Nice Guy Appliance Repair showed up when they were supposed to and they didn’t give me a stupid six-hour window. They're a good subcontractor to have. The technician came on time and did what he needed to do. He was very professional and he gave us some good instructions on what the follow-up was. If we had any problems, he left his contact information. I couldn't have been more pleased. There were two visits when the dishwasher broke and we had the first initial consultation, and then the motor had to be replaced. That was all done within a matter of a week and a half, so I'm very pleased.
My young adult daughter might have wanted it fixed in three days though (she moved back in since the whole COVID thing, so she was the one that was washing the dishes). To me, it wasn't critical, so I was perfectly fine with the time frame. Other than that one time, I haven't needed to use the service, but I should have had American Home Shield since I bought the house. American Home Shield is something good but nowadays, without a refrigerator, it’s hard to live a good life. My refrigerator stopped working and American Home Shield sent me a technician who showed me the compressor problem. One week later, I had another technician from another company. He checked everything and said the same thing. The second technician said the compressor is not working so he has to order. It was last Monday but I haven't heard anything from him. We're without a refrigerator for almost three weeks now. We've thrown away many things from the freezer. I don't understand why two contractors should have to come here and they said it's the same problem. It's a long time for me.

American Home Shield sent out a plumber. The guy was very nice. I really liked him. He walked me through, we laughed and I even helped him get the water out the sink because my kitchen sink was stopped. He told me that he was gonna drill down so many feet because his snake only went so far. But he said it's still running slow. He checked all of whatever there is to check.
Within a week, I followed his instructions, pouring hot water, putting baking soda and vinegar in it, and I still had a slow running sink. At the end of every day, I had to boil pots and pots of water. I'm like, “I am not Green Acres. And this is not gonna work.” It doesn't make sense. I live in almost a $300,000 home, and here I am, pouring water on a continuous basis in a kitchen sink just for the water to go out. So, I called him back, and he sent his boss. His boss was in here all of five minutes. I was on the phone with work, and he said he forgot to check the trap. As he left, I thought the young man prior to him did check the trap. Two days later, I said, “Well, if that’s what he wants to tell me, the sink is running, I won't worry about it.” Then I started picking up a smell that Saturday. It smelled like garbage. I went, “Maybe I haven’t done my disposal in a while.”
So, I turned the disposal on, and I got a cleaner that I use on my disposal. I put it in there, and it has to whirl around, and it cleaned the disposal. As I was over at my airfryer and I started to walk across to the other side of the floor to the island, my feet was smashing around in water. It is a huge kitchen, and I was looking at water all under my feet. I'm lucky I didn't turn on the airfryer or I would have been a goner. I was just about to open the door when I realized what was happening. Water was shooting out the inlet. The water was running, but water was coming from under the sink under the counter. I have mahogany colored cabinets and it was spreading all over my kitchen. So, I got towels and started soaking up water. Then, I grabbed the phone and called American Home Shield. It's already about 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Then they said I had gotten the COVID Center but I don’t have COVID. I have a water issue.
Finally, they got me over to somebody who said, “Well, we can't get anyone out there.” "What do you mean? I got hardwood floors. I got water running. You're advertising on television, ‘This woman is being pushed down this sidewalk because her air conditioner is blowing,’ some outrageous thing.” Water was piling all over the kitchen, but they were not worried. I said, “I'm calling you. I am worried. And you’re telling me it’s gonna be a day or two? That’s not acceptable. You can’t tell me you don’t have 24-hour companies ‘cause emergencies happen.” He said, “Well, we're gonna get a plumber out there maybe now or it’ll be tomorrow.” I said, “I got hardwood floors, sir. That is also a claim on my insurance if I don't stop this.”
The water was starting to spill further. So, I had the mind to go turn the water off at the sink. That stopped some of it, but it still kept coming because it was coming up out of the pipe over there. They did get someone to call. I called the guy back who came the second time. He was in Charlotte doing a job. He has his own independent company, and he called back and said, “The soonest I can get there is Monday.”
Then, on Sunday, I got a call after I finally got the water about the floor. I didn't know how to turn off the water. He was trying to instruct me to turn off water. I said, “Sir, I don’t know whether I go in the basement or whether I go up under the sink. I'm not a plumber.” I was willing to pay for a plumber. Then, with American Home Shield, we went round and round, “No, you can't pay for the plumber. If you pay for the plumber, it’s yours.” “But you don’t offer me what I need. I need a 24 hour service. Tell you what, I will just find myself another company ‘cause I can't deal with this. This does not make sense to me. I pay you almost $60 a month, and you’re gonna tell me you don’t have a 24-hour plumber?”
A few minutes later, I got a call from someone. Prime Plumbing called and they came out Sunday. He said, “Ma’am, it’s not your trap. I think I'm gonna have to drill some more down. I hate to inconvenience you. I don't have what I need.” Someone did come out on that Sunday. American Home Shield must have realized I meant what I said I was gonna contact some of these other companies that's been reaching out to me. I didn't call the other companies because the guy came that Sunday. He assessed the problem and said, “I promise you, I will be back in your home tomorrow.” The next day, Monday, he was right here. He unstopped my sink and he cleared the way. I kept their card because they were phenomenal. They did a fantastic job. I will use them going forward. They kept their word. Since that repair, everything has worked fantastically.
I also had an experience where my microwave went out. GE came out back in May. I'm not faulting American Home Shield so much because they did refund me my $100 back about a month ago. My microwave is still broken. They have some microwaves on their website, but none of them are in stock. Then, when I try to get in touch with Lowe's or some of those places to get another microwave, their inventory is very slow coming in because of federal trade laws and everything that's going on with a pandemic that slowed everything from other countries.
I can't get a microwave because I can't find one anywhere that is silver. I can find a white one, but I have stainless steel appliances. I'm not about to stick a white microwave or a black microwave in my kitchen where all my appliances are stainless steel. That is not gonna look good, and I don't wanna do it. So I'm not gonna do it. AHS gave me back the hundred, and they said they’d give me only 588, which would cover the microwave and the installation. I think they greatly undervalued it.
I have to get mad at them in order to get their attention. I should not have to get mad for them to do what they know they promised to do because I pay them every month. They do come through, but it's only after I’m standing on my toenails after I’ve been screaming. Instead of coming out just saying to me, “This is it. This is what’s happening. We are slow,” they’re giving me the runaround. I don’t like that. They should tell me the truth.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

American Home Shield isn't responsible for when the plumbers had secondary damages.
Someone from the resolution team contacted me and said that I have to contact CKC Plumbing and tell them that I'm filing a complaint against them. I did that and I got an email saying that my plumber would be coming out on X date. My husband went over there with CKC Plumbing and they said they could see where the leak was and they would order a part. They said they would only responsible for $200 worth of repairs. Nothing has been repaired yet. We haven't heard from them and I don't know how long the part takes. Interacting with them was kind of impersonal because I didn't talk to them until they got to my door. The whole process was email or text. They sent me a text with a locator showing their location and letting me know that they were near.

When we were buying a house, we were told to pick something because we told the sellers that we wanted a home warranty before we closed on the house. We did our research and AHS came number one. They were high-standard and since other people spoke highly of them, we signed up. So far, I'm loving the services of AHS and we appreciate them because when we moved in, everything in the house started not working. Recently, we had a claim for the microwave and everything went well. The part took a long time but once the tech came, he did everything okay.

It's fairly easy to submit a claim. I do them online but I also support with calling in to make sure that the information is neat. The one claim that we have submitted was for our water heater. The pilot light went out and they got it lit. Not a few weeks later, it started leaking so we had to call them back out and then it had to have some retrofitting. I had concerns about whether or not I needed to pay the deductible twice so I had to deal with the claim verbally as well as online. We were out of more than what we thought would have been but from what I heard from other people that was the case with all of the home warranties.

American Home Shield is very good and I'm very satisfied. They're very reliable. I never have an issue when I have a problem with any of my appliances. The most recent claim was for my dryer and the process was easy. Since the parts were no longer available, I had to purchase a new dryer. I submitted a claim for reimbursement and I had to submit my receipts and warranty for one year.

My experience with Home Shield has been wonderful. I signed up with them in July. They told me it would take a month for the warranty to be active. And then, it was active on August 7th. That was quick. I have submitted claims by phone and online and doing it was very easy. And then, I always get updates when the technician comes out. The technicians also place a call to let me know what time they will be there, and they're always on time. Recently, DMV Pro's tech fixed the issue. It was wonderful. Everything is running well. Home Shield is a great service.
Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us regarding your service request. I was with HMS Home Warranty before and I hated them with a burning fuel with fire. They're horrible. Now I have AHS and for my first claim, they sent out MrQuickPick. Submitting the claim was easy and the tech was great. It took him about 45 minutes to change my locks. Then, he linked me with a professional position and I got a gig out of it. So, I’m going to get paid 150. It's like it paid for itself and doubled the price.

I was washing dishes, and I had the dishwasher and laundry on, and my pressure slowed down in the kitchen faucet where it was dribbling out. That's one of the newer faucets. It turned out it was just a clogged filter. So, it was quick and easy to fix. The guy was very friendly and professional. American Home Shield is a reputable company. The contractors that they've sent out have been good and AHS covered most items. There was a time that I had an issue with my garage and they didn't cover everything. But they still covered a portion of it. A recent claim I had was for the toilet in my daughter's bathroom. At first, I wasn't sure if it was covered but I was able to speak to someone in their customer service department and he was able to help me with it. It went great.
Brian was the tech who came and he was wonderful. The toilet has been fine since his repair. Brian realized that the wax ring was loose and it needed to be tightened up. It ended up being covered, which was great. Brian said if that was not the issue, it could be something that would not have been covered and it could be expensive. Brian was honest about it. Some of these contractors would have said, “You need this, this and this, and it's going to be $500.” But he didn't do that so I really appreciated that.

When I bought the house, I was given a year with Home Shield as part of the signing agreement and I kept up with it. I'd rather have this than pay for full-on charges. I made a plumbing claim on a Thursday night and the contractor called me on Friday afternoon. I got an appointment that following Monday. It was fairly quick for being over the weekend timeframe. J&M, the contractor, was earlier than expected so it was nice. It fit well with the schedule. Also, the tech was in and out and everything was fixed.

Our ice machine wasn't working and it turned out it was shot. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield and I just had to log in and select what type of system needed servicing. Once it came under appliances and it said refrigerator, it asked which part of the refrigerator. I put it in there and clicked submit. It was simple.
The contractor was very professional, polite and accommodating. He came in, did some basic troubleshooting and determined what was wrong with it all in a matter of less than 10 minutes. Then he called around and said that he didn’t have in stock the part that he needed. He could come back the next day and he would have it because he had to swing by this one place to get it. If he would go pick it up right then, it would take him out of all his other service calls that were scheduled. He came back promptly the next day and took care of it. He was in and out in five minutes. I thought the home warranty process would be a bunch of back and forth trying to get things fixed but it’s not.

American Home Shield's customer service team is very professional. They get us to the right people. We were having an issue with our pool pump and Parrothead Pools came out. They were on time but they really didn't do anything. When they got here, the pool pump was working. The guy replaced a ring that was leaking but there was nothing else that he said he could do. Come to find out when we had Leslie's Pool come out to replace the sand for us, the pool pump itself was going out so we had to buy a brand new one. It should have been covered under American Home Shield but we didn't wait on them 'cause the whole pool went green. For the first claim, when the contractor came out to do the locks, that was fine. But for the pool pump guy, if American Home Shield had somebody that was more experienced and knew different pool pumps, that would have been more beneficial.

When I was with American Home Shield last year, the air conditioner went out and then the man came and took all of it out. He then said that they'll fix it, but it needed 11 pounds of Freon at $90 a pound. I was disgusted and I was pissed ‘cause I felt like the contractor drained it out. My thing is, at least, it was getting cold. He drained all the stuff out so then I'm stuck with having to buy another air condition ‘cause American Home Shield wasn't gonna buy me one. They told me, “It could be fixed but you have to buy the Freon.” There are a lot of things in the contract that I don't particularly care for, and that's one of them.
This year, I had a plumbing issue which they couldn't resolve, but they made it better. I got tree roots outside and they said they don't do tree roots. All they could do was tell me what was wrong. When I did the claim, I called on the phone, gave them my contract number and paid a $100 deductible. They then sent out a plumber, but the first plumber didn't do anything and I wouldn't recommend him. I could not use any facilities in my house.
I called American Home Shield and I got the option to get a second opinion for that same $100 deductible. When the second plumber came out, he did something so that I can use the facilities in my house without digging up my yard, which they don't pay for. He told me what the problem was too. The first plumber didn’t. I also put in a claim for the refrigerator and that one was the same. I called up, paid the $100 deductible, and they sent somebody out. I got a Whirlpool refrigerator, and they replaced the part in there and they left. It was fine.

It was just from the evaporation process so we would see water collecting and going down the drain on the floor. They were very professional and knowledgeable.
Years ago, I was protected with American Home Shield and then I let it go. Then within the last six months, I've gotten back on the program again. I have an older home, so I thought it was a wise investment. So far, we're very happy with them. I have another work order that they're working on for my washing machine, and they sent out a technician. They determined what parts were needed to repair it. Unfortunately, it seems one of the parts is not available, so they're trying to track it down. We also added a plumbing pipe that was leaking. The customer representative in American Home Shield added it and fixed everything to properly at this moment. They did a pretty good job. I've been satisfied. The plumbing company contacted us and we also called them to make sure what day or time that they were gonna come to my house. They were more proactive in making arrangement compared to the other company that we had when we first request the other plumbing job. With the other company, they reached out to us one or two days later. But this time, they made it earlier time than the last time service. So things are getting better.
When we contact the customer representative in American Home Shield, the waiting time took long. Every time that we call them, our waiting time is more than almost hour. The waiting time is sometimes kinda really crazy. When we did the first call, we waited for almost two hours. But this time, we waited almost for 1 hour and 10 minutes. We had a broken spring in our garage door. I was told that, evidently, the title company didn't pay the right amount of money. So first, I had to pay an additional $10. Then I found out that the warranty that they bought didn't include my spring, so I had to pay an additional $50. Then I had to pay another $100 to get my spring fixed. Then when I did call Ward’s Garage Door, I did get them out the next day, but originally I was told it would be Monday, which was not satisfactory when I can't get out of my garage.
Ward’s was wonderful. The tech was very personable. He got the job done. He didn't give me a bunch of running around. He just did what he was supposed to do in a timely manner. The contractors can't help when they're busy. But when you have a home warranty like that, and you're limited to who you can use, I would not have been a happy camper had I had to wait until Monday to get a spring fixed so we could get out of our garage.
It was probably American Home Shield’s fault that I feel like when we asked for a warranty, we were given the wrong one to begin with. But that was really on the Realtor. When we asked for a home warranty, I would have thought that our Realtor would have given us a home warranty that would have included the garage without us having to pay an additional $60 to get the warranty we needed and then pay another $100. The other thing is typically when one spring goes, the other one goes. I would have preferred that they would have replaced both springs so I don't have another call in two months and have to pay another $100 for the same thing they were out here for.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

We had a small leak in our ceiling so American Home Shield sent a plumber out. He cut a hole into the ceiling and diagnosed the problem which was something very stupid that the prior owners neglected. He went up and fixed it but that left a hole in the ceiling. The plumber told me that American Home Shield would cover a 1x1 hole in the ceiling such as the one that he cut in the ceiling so they would send out a second contractor to fix it. That was great because I had no idea they cover that. I thought I was gonna have to go out of pocket to fix the ceiling.
About a week later, a second contractor came and put a drywall patch in the ceiling. Now it's on us to kind of smooth it out and paint it, and that's basically it. I was happy with the response that we got from American Home Shield and both contractors were professional and very helpful. The work was pretty good for what we paid. I have, kind of online and through word of mouth, heard kind of some horror stories about these home warranty companies. But everything was great, so that was promising for me. I'm definitely happy I was covered. I paid $75 to have somebody sent out. The premium itself cost 500 for a year and this would have already been $500 so it's paid for itself already.

AC Rescue came out for the AC unit. It wasn't maintaining the temperature in the house. I have two units. The upstairs was doing fine but the downstairs unit was not doing well. They did say that it was dirty but it was cleaned off. They had done something and got air in my line. Then it wasn't cooling off and it was blowing the breaker. So they had to come out three or four times before they got it resolved. They had to completely evacuate the system, refill it and work on it. Now the AC is working fine. I wasn't happy with it being four times out, but it is what it is. I also got a letter from Frontdoor, which I think is American Home Shield, saying that they won't service the unit until we get the issues resolved. But they had done something to that unit to cause it not to work which is why they came back so many times.
My dishwasher and microwave also broke within days of each other. It took two months for American Home Shield to get it resolved. The tech they sent out had broken the door on the microwave, put the handle on upside down and cracked everything so they ended up giving me a new microwave because the whole thing was all busted. It was all cracked. Then the dishwasher, the guy kept misdiagnosing it and he had to come back three times. I was freaked out. I said it was the wash pump but he said it was the door latch. It was the wash pump. It's not pumping the water. They finally did reimburse me for the dishwasher but after I had to go buy another one because I couldn't be without a dishwasher with eight people in the house.
American Home Shield takes a long time and they drag their feet. Part of it is the contractors that they hire. They're not vetted properly. This I know because I looked up the contractor that came and he's a handyman so appliances aren't his first thing. I submitted the claim online for a bathroom leak and the contractor was great. But American Home Shield is not a good home warranty company. Waiting on the phone for an hour to an hour and a half is ridiculous and having to do that every time you need to speak to a customer service agent. I also don't agree with every single thing has to be another claim, another claim, another claim, so another payment, another payment, another payment. For example, the toilet was clogged up and also the shower. In order for them to look at the shower also, it would be another $125 payment with the toilet. But it was the same pipe. There shouldn't have had to be two payments of $125.
They sent me the email that said, "This person is gonna be out. If you wanna call them directly, here's their number." So whenever I googled that company to find out about them, it said that the company was no longer in business. So that prompted me to have to call American Home Shield to tell them that the company that they sent me was no longer in business. They got it to stop leaking, but they're expected to come back tomorrow because when they replaced the things in the toilet, it's been running continuously every few minutes to refill the tank because it's leaking through the tank into the bowl. This has been happening for the last three years too. My brand new refrigerator would just shut off when it was plugged in, so the outlet kept popping. It wasn't working and the previous company that was sent replaced my grid. It was a 15 and they changed it to a 20, but the grid was a used one. Right when the technician would leave, the same issue happened, but he wouldn't wait and test it. He just left. He fixed it, said it was done, and left. That never happened before.
The new guy from Energy Smart fixed the problem and it was the same power grid. Five seconds later, right as he was leaving, the refrigerator turned off again. He ended up replacing the grid with a new one and it's 100% now. We've had no problems with the refrigerator ever again. Energy Smart handled it well and it was quick, so their technician knew exactly what he needed to do. His customer service was amazing as well. He was really good and I'm very happy. They never follow up in a timely manner and it's frustrating because they don't have a problem taking my money out of my account on time every month. It would be good if someone could get on top to find out where the plumber is and why my job hasn't been completed.
When I bought the house, American Home Shield was added into my contract. When it expired, I went on and renewed it. I didn't have any issues prior, so I didn't have to keep calling to get service done. I didn't know how bad it was. They have the worst customer service that I've ever dealt with. They're worse than Comcast.
Rhonda,
Thanks for providing that feedback. I hate that we have not followed through with our commitment. I sent an email to you in an effort to offer further assistance. Please respond to that email at your earliest convenience.

I had Qualified Service Systems come out to check out my HVAC system. It was running a lot, and I wanted to make sure to get it checked up because it's been over a year since we've maintained it. I also wanted to find out if there's any real problem with it as to why it kept running. I went online to the American Home Shield website and requested a maintenance, I paid my deductible of $100, and then they set up an appointment. I got a call from the company that was coming out to service it. It was very easy. The contractor was very efficient, really good, and took care of whatever I needed. He didn't create a mess and he was very helpful. I really appreciated what he did.

We had a leaky sink. A faucet was dripping. We had a drain in the sink in our kitchen that was also leaking and we had a toilet that was running constantly. We called for a plumber through American Home Shield's service and he came and took care of all of it. He was great. He was really pleasant and knowledgeable. He was not here very long considering we had three items. He was perfect. If I had another claim outside of it, I would call him again. I've been happy with American Home Shield's service so far. We appreciate them. We're thrilled.
I am happy that you were happy with your experience. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

ARSD was phenomenal from the beginning to end. Dave was our tech and he was great. They had to replace the whole air conditioning system. We're in the middle of COVID so we needed to be patient. He was patient too because he couldn't get the unit in. We waited and waited and waited. I went the whole summer without AC. When it did come in, we scheduled the installation. He scheduled it around my schedule. Dave is an amazing guy.

Lex’s Plumbing did a really good job. We had a pipe under the house break, and the service person went down and fixed it. He was in and out and got us back up and going. He was on time too. We've had American Home Shield for about eight years now with all the different properties we've had. We got it with the purchase and then we've always re-upped.
It's pretty simple to submit a claim to them. We can either do it over the web or call to send. Usually, calling is easier if you have multiple things. Usually the person answering the phone takes care of it. I just learned that with some of their service people, you gotta make sure you checked their Google ratings because we've had a fun guy come out and tried to overcharge us. That’s the only bad experience we had. We put him on the list of “Do not use again.” We usually recommend people to go with American Home Shield versus the other ones.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

I have been with Home Shield for many years but I would have to think again about going back to them. But the technician that came out would make me wanna use Home Shield forever. He was excellent.

AHS had a $75 special about a routine maintenance call on the heater and I availed of that. They've done an awesome job for me and I've never had difficulties submitting a claim with them. A couple of years ago, they put a new hot water tank in for me. They also came out for my air conditioner and did the condenser on the outside. The only thing is, I'm not tech savvy with the online thing where you can put in the request online. That's why I like to call and I normally call them to request a service.

I'm glad I have American Home Shield. It's great and I'm pleased. You could do claims either online or by phone. I did it online the last time, and it made it easy. They immediately gave me a number to the person who could help me. I called and made an appointment with them to come out. The part sometimes take a while. You can't expect them all to keep parts on their truck, the exact part you're gonna need. During COVID, my last thing was the microwave and it took about a week and a half and I thought that was quick. I was happy with that.

Another tech came to do my appliances as we also called on AHS for a refrigerator issue. This was the fourth time we asked for our refrigerator to be fixed. The tech said that prior to this instance, they didn't take the back panel of my unit off. He did that and cleaned it all up.
Two days later, it's leaking again at the bottom and freezing the door shut. The tech is trying to get it replaced. He is also working on our cooktop that does not light up as well. Home Shield has done a great job for us but they don't want to buy us a new refrigerator. Sending somebody out four times to our location should probably be enough for them to get us a replacement. Other than that, they've been very prompt for us. I would recommend anybody to have their coverage.
Thanks for sharing you experience and thanks for recommending us.

The apartment was leaking water on two floors below. So it was that emergency, but the guy who came out that Friday was still not trying to attack it. The neighbors were scared and they were checking into a hotel. So our experience was a little bit rough. Then, as we called them today, it would still gonna be till Tuesday before they could come in.
The lady that was answering the phone helped me and got me a different company. That different company was able to go in today and take care of it. So it was better that we changed the company versus the other one that just let the water continue. Whoever answered my call today was nice. They helped to modify the claim. Hopefully, that doesn’t mean I have to pay the fee twice.
American Home Shield has been okay so far. I’m satisfied with the experience as of today but I’m dissatisfied with the first claim. We were talking about this for almost a week and thee first company was not in the rush. It was affecting people’s lives and the stress itself didn’t wanna end. But the other company that AHS sent was pretty easy in dealing with an emergency situation quickly. If they were the one that I had since Friday, that would have been much better and would have been over with.
Thanks for letting us know how everything is going so far. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with your experience up to this point. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Take Care.

We’ve kinda had American Home Shield forever. Some of their vendors are fantastic, but others, not so much. A Wisdom Electric and Island Heating and Air are great. I had a plumber years ago that I kicked out of my house. He was so bad and it resulted in us having to replace hardwood floors in our kitchen because he overflowed my sink. I also have a problem with the fact that when you have to replace something, they don't replace it of equal quality. They will only give you builder standard which maybe works for some houses but it doesn't work in mine.
If you've had a vendor out before and you like that vendor, you should be able to choose that person again and you should be able to do it online. You shouldn't have to call in to do it and you shouldn't be subject to just having to take whoever's next in line. There's one air conditioning company that I really like. It was at the height of heat wave and I had to wait online for almost two hours to get someone on the phone so that I could request that AC company. If they had a way that when you go online to request service, you can pick from a list of previous vendors who’ve been to your home and who are still active with American Home Shield, that would be so much better.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

The machine was not completing the cycle. It started in minute 40 then at minute 37, it went down to minute 18. Then a TE code appeared on the screen of the machine. I used the app first to set up the request and I was provided with a contact. I was told that some contractor was gonna get in contact with me. But that contractor never called me back or never got in contact with me. I called a number that was provided on the email and I couldn't get a response. Five or six days later, I called back to Home Shield and explained the problem. They put me in contact with the Sears contractor. The guy was here on time, went straight to the issue, fixed the problem, and the equipment has been working very well since then. So far, American Home Shield has been great.

I didn't understand what was happening, and he was educating me on what we should do, and next time, and was able to replace what needed to be replaced. He was really good. Everything's been fixed. American Home Shield is a good plan. There’s no reason not to endorse them. We were in the process of selling a place in Pennsylvania and buying one in Mississippi, and I wanted peace of mind for my wife if I had to be at the other property and she had somebody that she could call in case of a failure of some kind. Recently, TNT Garage Doors came out for an electrical issue and they were very nice people to work with. They sent me a text once I got off the internet and filed the claim. The motor on the garage door unit quit and they determined that it would be more economical to replace the whole thing than to try and repair parts. They seemed to know what they were doing.
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that knowledgeable and able to explain what is going on. We look forward to our continued business together. Have a good day.

Submitting claims with AHS is easy but some of the people that they're using are hard to understand sometimes because you can tell English isn't their first language. Sometimes it seems like they're giving you a script and not necessarily listening to the concern that you have. The turnaround time when the techs come out is reasonable depending on what it is. If it's a stoppage, like plumbing, it might be quicker than the AC or water heater. But in terms of them being responsive and getting someone out, that's fine. What usually takes the longest is the approval if you need to get a part or a replacement of some sort.
My hot water heater went out and the contractor came right away and looked at it. The tech looked at it in 15 minutes and they said they need to replace the water heater and he put in the claim. They were giving me this $2000 bill but it's supposed to be covered under warranty. I asked if AHS could send somebody else out to give me another opinion and they said no because the contractor will see the same thing in the system and give them the same result that it needs to be replaced. I didn't feel comfortable with that.
It was hard to get in contact with someone. I called twice and talked to two different people. They both told me the same thing. I took it on my own to call someone else out to come and look at it. It took him time, but he did his job. He was here for 30 minutes and he was able to recode it and it started working. I was very, very frustrated with that because the tech AHS sent out just looked at the water heater and was like, "You need a replacement." He didn't try to code it. With the back and forth with AHS, I had to wait and I had to go almost a week with no hot water trying to figure out what was what.
Also, they weren't able to fix it so I was out of my $75 fee plus 200 and something dollars that I had to pay out of pocket. I called and tried to get in touch with someone to kind of help me resolve this issue because I felt like the company that they sent out didn't do due diligence. I was on hold for hours before I could talk to someone and the rep since I went ahead and already paid for it, there was nothing they could do. They gave this other number who can at least reimburse the $75 fee. I put in the call and they took my information. I always asked to speak to a manager. Nothing was done.
I went on social media and after three weeks, a representative reached out to me through Twitter and asked me for a piece of good contact information to reach me. I could tell her first language was English. I was able to have a conversation with her explaining the situation. She was able to get my $75 fee and the diagnostic $200 fee for the other company reimbursed with no problem. If I would have been able to get to someone like her sooner, who could actually understand my issue and what I was going through, it would have been a lot more pleasant experience. My most recent claim was for the AC unit and Barstow & Sons Heating and Cooling came out. The tech was great and he did what I needed him to do in terms of resolving the issue.

We had American Home Shield back in 2014 when we purchased our house. That was a year, then went with somebody else, and that was how I knew about the subpar experience from a couple of different other places. We purchased this house last summer and it came with the home. We were reminded about how good they are. And so, I renewed for another year ‘cause I'm very pleased with how fast they get out and how knowledgeable their people are.
We were having repeated leaks in the air handlers up in the attic. And with the way that the air was pushing, it was pushing the water out and along the tubes and causing leaks in my ceiling. C and R Plumbing Heating and AC came and they couldn't get the overflow pan to stop, capturing water and pushing it back. So, we did a couple of things in the interim ‘cause we were waiting from July to hear about a resolution that was more than just keep going up there and throwing towels into the pan and trying to blow out with a compressor.
They just replaced our handler for us in the last couple of weeks. Everything seems to be pushing really well. The air conditioner feels fabulous now and we haven't had any sign of leaks in the last couple of weeks. We're still monitoring it to make sure everything's good. We even got a little leak detector thing that sends an alarm to our phone if for some reason water ends up and sits on that pan. The technicians were phenomenal. They've been here a few times checking on things for us. They took their time and did a great job of putting everything in.
We also had a claim for a dishwasher that went bad. AHS sent people out to try and fix it, and there was no fixing. It wouldn't start or drain properly, so we had to get a replacement, and they were really good and fair about it. They sent us some choices. There wasn't a lot available because of COVID, so we opted to pick something out that was available, and they just gave us a credit so that was very convenient. We also had a garbage disposal issue that was fixed very well. We've dealt with other home warranty companies in this state and they are head and shoulders above the others.

The process on submitting the claim for our air condition was okay and that experience was good because I told American Home Shield that I wanted Hospitality Heating and Air. AHS was trying to give me the same people that always come and never do the right job, so I called and told them I wanted Hospitality. They are the preferred one that I would always choose because they come out and they get the job done. They're very courteous and prompt as well. Those other HVAC people that I dealt with, I don't know where AHS took them from.
When something is broken, they send people and I tell them not to send those other HVAC people for the simple fact that I had to repair almost 10,000. American Home Shield said that they were gonna do it and then when they found out that it was the secondary, they didn't do it. It's horrible, but there is no other warranty that I can go with.
