    The AC wasn’t working. American Home Shield sent Airmax and the service guy was professional, he knew what he was doing, and he fixed the issue right away. He realized what it was right away, and it only took minutes to fix. There was a slight electrical problem. We've had American Home Shield since ’92. This is my second house that I'm having it. I travel and stuff never breaks when I'm home. But in the other house that was older, they replaced the heater and the air conditioning unit, stove, hot water heater, and something else. It's always been pretty good.

    This summer, we’ve had air conditioning issues with two separate properties, and both experiences have been horrific trying to get it repaired. AHS techs did not do a full diagnostic when they got here. AHS would send out the tech and would say, “And it might be something simple, like your capacitor’s low on voltage.” So, they'd replace the capacitor, they'd say it’s up and running, and they'd leave. And our tenants would come home and the air conditioner would not be working. So, there might be multiple issues that we just don’t know about. We’ve had technicians that have come out to one of our properties five times. They'd fix one thing, and if that starts the engine running, they'd just go on.

    Each property owner is individual, so it is totally up to them whether they'd get a home warranty that we use, or if they would like to use our maintenance guys. With AHS, I can go online and place a maintenance request, which is very convenient. I keep a credit card just to use for that, so I’ve got the billing on-site. And then they usually let us know if there’s Freon involved that we have to pay extra for. But this summer, it’s like a hundred calls to get one thing done. I’m very dissatisfied, because we’ve just gone through our busy season and we’ve gotten beaten up using American Home Shield.

    Good Shepherd was sent out by American Home Shield to service the dryer. I did the claim online. The online website and the overall online process work for me. Good Shepherd came out within a day or two. It was pretty quick though. They were very professional and very friendly. The only negative feedback I have is the service guy recommended me to get a certain part. And this was not directly related to the job itself. But he recommended me to get a certain part, and then I went ahead and took his recommendation. It had been the same exact part that I already had. He should’ve known that because he was manipulating the part that I had. So, I didn’t understand why he had asked me to buy the extra part. Still, I ended up using it.

    My AC claim with American Home Shield went well. We did it online. The online process was extremely easy. It was easier than I thought it would be. Texas Best Heating came out, and they did well. The guy who came out was professional, and he fixed it right away. He was really good, cleaned up my unit, and then left. AHS always sends out good agents that were good service people that's why we've kept them instead of moving to someone else who comes in cheaper.

    I’m so happy I have American Home Shield. I called a claim regarding the door of the refrigerator and the representative was very expeditious. They sent someone out very fast. It took the contractor two days to come out. I had to make sure somebody was home. Since the repair, the door is working perfectly. Before, I couldn’t stop the ding in the door of the refrigerator. It kept opening and would ding. And for some reason, the bottom door has stopped shutting the right way. American Hi-Tech Appliance came out and they were very professional. If you didn’t have the right screw, the contractor provided a screw that would fit the right way.

    Home Shield gave me All Systems Heating and Air for a plumbing claim recently who then resolved the issue. They were professional and timely and they did a good job. But when I had my very first claim, they sent Sears and it was difficult working with them. Also, the claims process can be a little convoluted sometimes but it's okay. I have recommended AHS to my friends and when my policy is up, I will more than likely renew it.

    American Home Shield has a call center in another country, which is fine, but my wife and I are hard of hearing, and it was kinda hard for us. They have a certain tone that we don’t hear that well. I found a more direct number and got ahold of a representative that I could understand better. The first contractor that came out for the air conditioner didn't have the tools and AHS called out somebody else. The second people, Efficient Air, diagnosed it right away. They said they had to go through AHS in order to get the part because it was a blower motor. It wasn’t an easy fix. It involved a part that they had to order and once that got going, it was all right. They put in a new motor so the air conditioner is working. They answered all my questions and they explained things. I was happy with them.

    Getting used to the process, I thought if your air conditioner went out and you were dealing with a 90-degree weather, AHS would have expedited it. I found out that they don’t do that but they did a good job once they understood everything and did it. The only question I have for AHS is if I can request a more preferred contractor. There are people who are better starting out and there are people that are smaller. Efficient Air was a lot more equipped than the first contractor. That woulda cut three days off of not having an air conditioner.

    My furnace was not working and the online process of submitting the claim was great. ACI Northwest came out after a couple of weeks and they didn’t do anything. I was not happy with them at all. They told me I needed to call an electrician but it turned out I didn’t need an electrician. The furnace guy just didn’t know what he was doing. The electrician guy fixed it. It was just a switch, but I ended up paying $225 to have them come out when the furnace guys should’ve fixed it. And I had to wait another two weeks for the electrician. But it was not American Home Shield’s fault at all.

    The garbage disposal was leaking under the sink. You turn the water on and it’d come out the bottom. The contractor that AHS sent out gave me a certain time, and he showed up a little bit early, which was okay with me. He was very, very courteous. I liked the guy. He was pretty neat, and he didn’t make a mess. When he did make a mess though, he cleaned up and went from there. He replaced the garbage disposal, and he had to do some replumbing and adjustments for the new garbage disposal.

    On 9/17/19, we filed a service request because our air conditioner was not cooling. We were contacted by a service representative who stated that all of the service contractors were overbooked. They could not assign a contractor to come service our unit. We were given the option to locate a service person on our own to complete the repair. We were told this process requires the service person to assess the problem and call AHS for an authorization prior to doing repairs. We spent time locating someone and meeting them for the appointment. They determined that the compressor would have to be replaced. They provided an estimate of $2585 to replace the compressor.

    We then contacted a second A/C service person who came to assess the problem. He also said the compressor needed replacing. His quote was $2700. We decided to go with the first service person -- Carson A/C. Mr ** attempted to get authorization for several hours on Friday. He kept getting transferred and placed on hold. He had to complete other service calls so gave up that day.

    On Monday, his office manager spent multiple hours calling in, providing information, and trying to get authorization. After jumping through every hoop requested by AHS, she was told that they were denying the authorization and would send someone out for a second opinion. In the meantime, the A/C has been out for a week. We live in Louisiana where temps have reached 95 degrees every day. One whole week of being miserably hot and uncomfortable. How can AHS get a second opinion when they couldn't even assign a contractor a week ago?

    On 9/23/19, we spent several hours on the phone talking to people who blatantly lied to us. We were told by a "supervisor" named Carlee that she was expediting our service request and would email someone to get authorization for Carson A/C to complete our repair. She promised she'd call back with an answer within an hour. We asked for a contact number and she gave us one. She also said she would copy us on the email she sent. We never got an email. Not only did she fail to call us back, the number that she gave us went to an entirely different call center. Lies, lies, and more lies!

    When we called back after an hour, we were told that her call center closed at 11 pm CST and there was no way to contact her. On 9/24/19, my husband called in and was transferred to escalations. They set up an appointment for someone to come give a second opinion on 9/26/2019 between 10am and 2 pm. On 9/26/19, the Total Air technician called just prior to the end of the appointment window to say that he would be late because he decided it was inconvenient for him to drive to our appointment and then return for another. I guess he feels that being without air for two weeks is not inconvenient at all. He stated he might arrive tonight between 7 and 8. I am currently on hold with AHS customer service. I've already been hung up on twice. It should not be this hard to get a company to honor their contract.

    I’m been paying 3 years this insurance! They told me if one of my appliances broke they will give me a new one! This is not true! My dishwasher has a door problem. The company they send supposed to say they can’t fix this cause the parts are not available anymore. They didn’t call me back. They just send me a email saying the case is close! Wtf! You still not fixing my problem! I call 3 times, speak with different people, the last one say they can’t cover my dishwasher cause someone slammed the door and broke! Ok how you assume something like this? Is just a ridiculous excuse to not cover me!! This is wasting time and money! I feel so frustrated! I pay this insurance thinking when I need it they will be great! But not!! They charge me $100 for service for nothing!! I want to cancel this contract and they told me I have to pay a fee for this!! This is ridiculous!! Stay away from this Insurance!!??

    This is the worst company to ever work with. It took so many calls to get an appointment. When I called, they informed me that my plumbing issue was covered, and immediately took my $100. When they sent someone, they turned around and said that the work is no longer covered. I asked for my deposit back, and it took them so many weeks to do a simple investigation. Thereafter no one contacted me as promised and only to find out that my request was denied. I will never recommend this company to anyone - they don't even deserve one star.

    We had American Home Shield for several years on our original home. Luckily, we never had to use them for anything more than minor home repairs. When we sold our original home and purchased another home our air conditioner stopped working in the hottest summer days in Michigan in July 2019. We were out of state and our 84 year old mother was in the home when this occurred.

    American Home Shield could not get a service provider to our home for over four-days. Thus, we elected to find our new provider and not incur the $75 service fee, pay the service provider up-front with an approved amount and then get reimbursed. Needless to say, American Home Shield has a "loop-hole" for everything so the amount you pay for the warranty will never be covered by the repairs they will approve. I would strongly encourage everyone to not pay for this home warranty and do not see it as any type of benefit when you purchase a home. Melissa **

    American Home Shield sent a company to replace my A/C coil which was still under warranty.The company took the coil on day one and reinstalled it on day 2. The company (Total Air Care; Jacksonville Fla. provided an invoice which states," leaking coil under warranty, replace with new coil") Total Air Care kept the brand new coil and reinstalled the leaking coil back into our unit. AHS did not rectify this even after reporting them to the BBB. I have spent money over time refilling the refrigerant. I asked AHS recently to rectify this after the home inspector found the original issue; because now my home is under contract for sale.

    AHS recently sent another company to make good on the original warranty issue. After the new company sent by AHS (United Air Temp, Jacksonville Fla.) removed the coil and refrigerant, AHS told them to end the work order and left us without air conditioning for almost 2 weeks. All 3 of these companies have a relationship of some sort but do not communicate well with each other or us. 1 star because I had to in order to write this review.

    I have had AHS for 1-1/2 years and up to the last 6 months I was satisfied. I had called for a repair on my dishwasher and Sears was sent...I was given a 2 week appointment so I cancelled the order. It took AHS almost 2 months to credit my account the $125 fee. They kept telling me they had mailed it and finally, got a credit on my card. I was compensated with $125 coupon to use on my next request.

    In July I had request a plumber to replace a kitchen faucet. I checked out the plumber that they were sending and he had a 1 star rating with comments of "don't let this guy in your house, he makes the problem worse. We got another plumber and when I questioned would I get the same kind of faucet she said they can't give you the same quality, just what the contractors get so we cancelled that request and put the kind we wanted in. I had to get a plumber out and used my free coupon but of course they billed me. It only took 3 phone calls and a week to get my credit back. I called today to cancel and was put on hold for over 20 minutes to speak to the cancellation department. She did cancel my service but charged $1.01 for administrative fees. Never again with this company!!!!

    Two months ago I documented a service problem I was having getting my GE gas cook top repaired. The replacement part I needed was on back order and finally arrived after a five month delay. AHS mistakenly believed that the repair had already been successfully completed and, once the part was received and its installation re-scheduled, AHS was requiring that a new work order (and its associated financial deductible) be put in place. I was obviously quite frustrated but I am happy to report that AHS subsequently waived the new fee, their customer representative was quite understanding and my gas range is now properly working once again. Thank you to AHS for your assistance in resolving my service issue.

    In April of this year I contacted AHS regarding the repair of my GE cooktop gas range which was not burning properly. Further, it occasionally left the odor of propane gas in my kitchen. After paying my $125 fee to AHS, AHS sent a repairman to my home to examine the cooktop and he determined that the cooktop had a faulty burner valve which needed to be replaced. The repairman contacted GE to get the part and shortly thereafter I was notified that the part was on back order but would be available in several weeks. A new repair appointment was then scheduled but it had to be subsequently rescheduled because the part still had not come in from GE. This scheduling and subsequent rescheduling then occurred several more times throughout the summer and my range is still not fixed.

    Today I contacted AHS and learned that my repair order has somehow been closed and that if I want AHS to send a repair person out again to address my faulty burner valve that I need to pay another $125 since it is more than 60 days since I submitted my initial claim. I got little sympathy or understanding from the AHS customer representative. At this point I prefer to cancel my policy, get a $125 refund, and will seek a return of the monthly premiums I've been paying to AHS since April of this year. By the way, I never received a response from AHS regarding my two written letters regarding this matter.

    Lastly, since I could actually still smell gas in my kitchen back in April, I had the gas company examine my range and they discovered a leaky and faulty regulator directly below the cooktop which required immediate replacement. I paid for this emergency repair, sought reimbursement from AHS but learned today that my request was officially denied. So much for safety and security. Thank goodness there was no explosion.

    We had a sump pump, which ejects water from the basement so that my home does not flood, that did not function. So, water collected in the basement when we had a flood. I phoned in a claim and had a good interaction with the claims rep. Then, the contractor from BNK Plumbing came out, took a look, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. The repair took a couple of hours because the old pump needed to be removed, then he had to find a new pump and put the new pump in. That was a very reasonable time frame and the sump pump is now excellent.

    We also had an electrician out on a different request. Because the reason why the sump pump failed was because of the outlet. So, the electrician came and he did a decent job by successfully repairing the outlet. However, he never checked to see that the breaker was on. All he needed to do was to just check to make sure that there was electricity going to the outlet that he had repaired. In effect, it was the plumber who discovered that the sump would not have worked had not the plumber followed up and found that the electricity was not going to the sump pump. So, it was not a good experience with the electrician but the plumber was a hero. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield.

    The AC was set at 74 but the house was at 80 degrees. I called American Home Shield and the representative entertained my idea of getting someone else to look at it other than the initial company who wasn’t able to resolve the issue. So I was glad to hear that. The other company, K&W, was good and on time but I didn't like that they didn't call before they came. They ended up at my door and that needs to be changed. But they got right to work as soon as they got here and did what they needed to do. They explained the problem and they wanted to know why I did not call back the company who came the first time.     I called American Home Shield for the central air conditioning unit that was not cooling. They sent Salzman's Plumbing & Heating, and they were very friendly. They seemed conscientious. It took a couple of visits to get the unit fixed though. They said they thought they had it fixed, and then it still didn't cool. When they came out, we think we got it, but it still didn't cool. It was a third visit before they got it all fixed. Once they got it done, it has never missed a beat. I would be very happy to use them again. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been very satisfactory.     One AC unit wouldn't kick on to cool the upstairs. I did the automation to file the claim then I freaked out that I didn't get to talk to anybody 'cause it was a Saturday or Sunday.     I like submitting our claims to American Home Shield online. The website is easy to navigate and they would usually say that I would hear from them within 24 hours. This is my fifth claim and we had our dishwasher serviced. The contractor came out and replaced the motor in the dishwasher. I like the gentleman who came out. He told us what detergent was better to use in our dishwasher and things like that that’ll make it run more efficiently. Since he came out, it has been very good. The kids are the ones who do the dishes and they haven’t said anything. The dishes are getting done, so it’s working alright.

    A week after our warranty from American Home Shield became live, the washer broke. They sent out Accord Appliance and when they came in, the washer started working again. So, it’s kinda intermittent problem. The tech recommended we video record it the next time if they have to come out again because it does that, and as long as we have that recording showing that it did go down, then they’ll possibly do a free replacement or a repair of some sort.

    The icemaker of my KitchenAid side-by-side freezer refrigerator had quit making ice. I called American Home Shield and I submitted the claim through the automated call. I spoke with an agent and added a dishwasher to that same call. So he gave me Herley's number and asked me to contact them and I did. Herley was great.

    The tech came out on the 10th of September and told me that he was gonna have parts ordered. He told me it would take about 10 days to 14 days out. I called them on the 24th, and he tried to call through and get through and he had to go back to work, so that ended that. So then I called, and they told me that a reorder had to be done, so that was the reason for the delay. About two or three days later, I had the parts, and they were installed. But my dishwasher still has the same issue. I contacted Herley's and they said that we're gonna have to put in another order for it. But overall, I'm satisfied at this point, and it was a great experience.

    All Out Appliance Repair came out to fix the microwave. When the guy came, he assessed it and knew what it was right away. The magnetron went bad and it was not heating so he had to order the part. He was there for about five minutes. Once the part came in, he came back out. He took down the microwave because it’s mounted then took it apart, put the new part in and showed me the old part and said everything was done. He did a good job and he made sure that everything was nice and clean when he was working. And then when he left, he cleaned up his stuff. He didn’t make a mess, he had blankets and he just folded those up. He went over with me, showed me, and verified it was working. He explained a few things to me and said if I had any problems just let him know. He fixed it in about 20 minutes and it’s working fine now.

    I’m happy with American Home Shield. I’ve got a house that is actually pretty good, but it’s getting to the point where every once in a while it needs a few things. All things are gonna break sooner or later and everybody they’ve sent has been professional. They’ve come out and we get it done, and we’re good to go. I told them I had a funeral I had to go to that day, so they made the adjustments with the time to be accommodating. And when the contractor called me that he was 45 minutes out, I was just walking out of the funeral and that I’d be home in a few minutes. They worked it out.

    Sierra Mechanical came out for our heating. They were checking to see if there was a crack. I had another person out servicing my AC and heating system. I do that every year, and it was the same people who put my new AC in this year because I had to get a new AC. And they said, “Oh, there’s a crack in your heater, in the heat exchanger.” So, we called American Home Shield to check it out, and they had a photo and I had them check it out. Then I called Classic Aire back and they came back out with a senior inspector who said, “You absolutely have no crack in your heat exchange.”

    Then I called Spire but I didn’t confirm the appointment. That’s the gas company. I was gonna have the gas company come out if Classic Aire saw another crack because Sierra saw no crack. They didn’t have a camera to look in anything, but they did the testing. So, when the Classic Aire senior inspector came back, they had a camera and they did the same thing that Sierra did. The senior inspector and Sierra said there was no crack. So, there was no need for me to call the gas company because that was gonna be my next step because I have Carbon Monoxides all over. I have a ranch home with a basement because we’re in the mid-west, and we have Carbon Monoxides in the basement and on the main level. We run our heat a lot in the winter and it’s gonna get down to 37 next week. We won’t probably be using the heater until the first part of November.

    Sierra was great. The service guy was very professional. He said, “Hey, I checked this twice. I ran it again.” He even waited as I called Classic Aire to say, “Hey, my insurance inspector did not find a crack, and he wants to know exactly which hole did he see it in.” They didn’t get back to me in time, but then they sent a senior inspector out, and the guy came and said there was nothing. I got everything in writing in case my Carbon Monoxide thing goes off. I can get somebody by the neck.

    We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. Since we had a home in Mission Viejo we had American Home Shield. And then when we moved to Missouri in 2002, and then we bought this house we had American Home Shield from day one. We also have American Home Shield in our town home that we own in Laguna Hills. We like their service because they’ll send a qualified person out, and we don’t have to figure it out. We’re busy people, and my husband travels. His job takes him to several countries internationally. So, he does a lot of international travel and I’m just here. My kids are grown. They’re in college, but still, nonetheless, I don’t have to worry about it. We tell all of our friends about American Home Shield. I tell them that they have to renew their service.And when they say, “Oh my god, but it’s like so many hundred dollars or whatever,” I say it is still worth it to have that peace of mind.

    The first person that American Home Shield sent out was ATR General Services, and they told my mother that she needed to pay $440 upfront in order for them to do the work because of some part they needed. When she paid them, American Home Shield called them, and they said they were gonna reimburse the money, and they have yet to reimburse my mom her $440 back. I’ve tried calling them but they won’t answer the phone. So, that’s why I had to call American Home Shield and ask for their help. And there has been no reply. Right now, I’m not happy with American Home Shield. I wish I had researched ATR before I had them to come out because they didn't perform the job. They were not great. Their rating was 1 and American Home Shield needs to drop them fast.

    The second people that American Home Shield sent out did a wonderful job. They're coming back out on Tuesday because there's a part that was missing that they need to install for the AC unit. The AC is working, though. We’re getting cool air, which is fabulous. It worked really great. The person who had to do the evaluation was very professional and very thorough.

He was in uniform and he showed his ID. He was not afraid of my dogs and he didn't wanna make a mess. He asked if I wanted him to put something down up in the attic for me and he went up there. He also asked for permission to enter the bedroom to check for the thermostat. He went out, asked what side of the house to go, had all the parts on his truck and then asked for permission to enter the house again. He also told me that I had 30 days on the same service call. He could not be more polite. He was professional in appearance and with the way he spoke to me. He did not delay anything and I was able to understand him.

    I've had the contract with American Home Shield for two years. This is the first time I've ever had to claim and I could not have been more pleased. I tried to submit the claim online, but I had to call them because I renewed the contract on a promotion and it showed that I still had an outstanding balance because the promotional credit hadn't gone through yet. I was frustrated but they handled it really well. Their rep got it scheduled and she even said that if I give it an hour then I could call the company. She also gave me a dispatch number and they would have it and if it was cancelled, I had to wait for about two days. It has been 97 degrees here. So I was surprised that it only took two days because I asked the technician how busy he had been and he said that it had been crazy. My sister has an existing home, but I also wanna buy a contract with AHS for her.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for close to 10 years and I like that it’s one less thing to have to budget for. More often, I do the claims over the phone, which is because the most common claim seems to be plumbing and the plumbing companies are the usually the worst. It's been a while since I've had a plumbing incident but they had some real pieces of work in the past. Literally, these people didn't know what they were doing. They would cancel on you two to three times before they finally show up. Then, they break stuff instead of fixing anything. We found out from one that he was only a week on the job and has no prior experience. He was a bartender and not a plumber so, it was no wonder he broke things.

    I’ve had several refrigerator claims and Sears was notoriously slow when AHS used them recently. It wasn’t the fault of AHS since Sears have been one of the overloaded companies lately, but if AHS is interested in them, they should have had more subcontractors to choose from locally. The contractors that sign on with them get overbooked and they couldn't make it to all their appointments. Then, the turnaround times would be blown out from two days to five days. Also, the part would be rare and then they would have to order it. They would come back two weeks later.

    If it's a refrigerator, it’s hard not having one for weeks. So, AHS would benefit themselves, for appliances, to have more to choose from. They usually have two in each trade and a lot of times, those are overbooked. Having eight would be wise. I’ve also had one or two claims for electrical and they weren’t responsive, not that timely and I ended up paying out of pocket. But the oven replacement went very nicely.

    The contractors sent by American Home Shield were trying to dry my floors. We had a flood problem from the water heater. They checked the floors, and they came in, they ripped the flooring, and ran some humidifiers and some blowers in here for a couple of days. They were out here the next morning after I filed the claim to AHS to fix the leak with the water heater.

    I submitted the claim online. They put me over the phone too, and the person I spoke with was helpful. They gave me a phone number, and I talked to them. They got somebody to come out and they didn't take that long. Since the repair, there were no issues with the water heater. They're trying to get someone to repair the damage to the floors, and I've been waiting. The first people we called came out and did the measurement of the section, then the floor was still too wet. When people came out when I called them, it says, "Restores," and when you say that restore, I interpret that to mean they're gonna put it back the way it was but they didn't.

    It’s been quite hot here in Central Texas so our AC unit has been working pretty hard and it was actually freezing up. Ice would develop on the heat pump and the outer shield of it and it quit working. A couple of things happened. Number one was that I needed to turn it off in the blistering heat, and then make sure I continue to run the fan. Then I was told that the unit was freezing up in the attic and not so much the heat pump. And so, it had to thaw out from the top down. After the process he went through, the unit appeared to be leaking some gas. So, he put five pounds worth of fluid in it.

    Technically, it’s working fine now. The last two days has been in the mid-80s, and we’ve had almost 100 days in a row where it’s been in the high 90s. Then today and tomorrow, it’s gonna be considerably warmer. But the big question is, will it hold the refrigerant or not? I’m gonna keep an eye on it. And there’s a good chance that I’ll probably be calling on another claim to have them take a look at it again to see if it’s still leaking refrigerant. ‘Cause that’s gonna be the main culprit. If it continues to leak, then that’s just gonna be an ongoing problem. I don’t think that it’s something that they can fix, at least not short-term anyways with just tightening up a bolt. I think the continued fix on it is to continue to add the refrigerant gas to it unless there’s something that they can fix on the main unit to stop it from leaking gas. But we’re certainly very happy to go into the fall. Hopefully with the cooler temperature, I won’t be using the AC quite as much.

    Overall, I’ve been very pleased with the contractors who have come out. In each case, they did a very good job and were very thorough in terms of how they looked at things. I'm also happy with American Home Shield. When I saw that my one year term was close to coming up in December, I went ahead and renewed after the claim ‘cause I’ve got a pretty good confidence level that I needed to stay on the program. And I felt very comfortable that at some point, our AC unit will get fixed properly.

    My AC went out and I didn’t know what was wrong with it so I called American Home Shield. Scottsdale Services was our given contractor and they sent somebody out. I called them on Thursday and they couldn’t come out until the following Monday which was very annoying. In the meantime, we almost lost our coral in our aquarium because of the heat in here. I had to go out and buy a floor AC to put on the aquarium. It was very aggravating. But I dealt with that. A technician then came out, went up into the attic, came back down and said the pan was cracked. He was in a hurry and he rushed through everything. That was rude.

    I ask him asked how the pan cracked and was told somebody must have had stepped on it on the pipes. The technician wasn’t clear about what was wrong. I was going how anybody could stand on the pipe. It was right next to the unit. Also, there was no way that anybody was on that side of the attic. He said he didn’t know why the pan was cracked. That was when he said he was gonna submit a report about it. After he left, I texted him and told me to send me the picture that he took because I wanted to know exactly what he was talking about so I could go up and look at it.

    I also asked him if he had checked the drain because the overflow pan was full of water. He went up there and he suctioned it out but he never told me if he checked the drain or not. I asked what I was supposed to do and he said that he had to contact American Home Shield. He never responded and never sent me the picture. It was total silence. To this day, I haven’t heard from the man.

    I told American Home Shield I was not satisfied. There has been nobody up in the attic and we don’t go up there. I had a water heater replaced which is also up in the attic but that’s on the other side of the unit. There is no way that somebody could’ve gone and cracked that pan. In addition to that, the pan is inside of the unit that he said was cracked. After some research with Google, I found out that the pan can corrode over time. It’s plastic-like and the tech said the plastic doesn’t break. But it does as it can get brittle. I had American Home Shield send me out somebody else.

    The second technician went up into the attic and he said the same thing. The pan was cracked but he didn’t understand how. He said the only way that the pan could’ve cracked was if somebody had stepped on it. I told him that the first tech who came was in a hurry. The second tech said that the only thing he could think of was that the first tech was checking the drain to see if it was clogged and he may have accidentally stepped on the pan to look over the unit.

    I called American Home Shield because they said they would not cover that because that was human error in the AC unit. I told them I begged to differ because there has been nobody in that area aside from the tech from Scottsdale. My ex-husband came over because I was not satisfied and nobody was fixing anything. He went up there and checked. The drain was clogged. He unclogged the drain and I have not had a problem with it since. But the pan could still be cracked. My ex-husband did not go in. He didn’t take the lid off anything but he did clean out the drain pipe.

    Aside from my AC, American Home Shield sent someone out to fix my water heater before. The first time a tech came out was great. The only thing with the first one was that it took time but the water heater was fixed and I was happy with it. This time with my AC though, I was not happy because American Home Shield went by what was written in the report. How would they know if that was correct or not? What if the first tech accidentally stepped on the pan as he was checking the drainpipe? When I asked him what I was supposed to do he said just to check it. If it got full of water again, I was to go up there and suction it out. I am 67 years old. I don’t go up in the attic to begin with and I’m not gonna go up there to suction anything out. That’s electrical and I don’t do that. He said there was nothing he could do.

    I called American Home Shield and I put in a complaint. They never called me back. When I asked a rep to send me to a certain department, I was told that people in that department were not allowed to speak to the public. They would have to call me. To this day, I haven’t received a phone call. Right now, I would not recommend American Home Shield and I'm thinking about cancelling my policy with them. I do better by saving my money instead of paying them $100 each visit for them to tell me that I did it. I’m very dissatisfied.

    The previous house owner had the AC unit replaced about a year ago, but it appears that in trying to cut corners and not spend much money, the electrical going to the AC unit in the attic was not replaced with the unit. You can open the fuse box and pull out a little fuse and stop power running to the unit. I pulled it out one day to change the air filters, and it broke in half. I went to Home Depot to see if I can replace it and couldn't. So, then we went ahead and called American Home Shield to utilize our warranty. And the gentleman came out. He was very prompt, called ahead, and did a fantastic job.

    The only thing that concerned me was he left some of his mess up there, but I picked it up and threw that away. But other than that, he fixed it within under an hour. He had us back working. We went about two days without AC. Luckily, it was one of those timeframes where it wasn't 95 degree that day, but we managed. We're grateful to have American Home Shield on our side. It all worked out.

    We utilized the warranty again to have all the doors rekey. It worked out great. We picked this particular warranty package because it said that rekeying would be something they would offer. So for the $75 fee, the guy came out, and he was very nice and fixed all of that. So, now we have the same key for all of our entry ways. So, it makes it easier for us. Plus the fact we have the peace of mind knowing that nobody else has the key to get to our house. So it made my wife and my girls feel better.

    We also called American Home Shield when we had an issue with the garage door. It ended up being a problem with the push button that was beside the backdoor going to the garage. So the tech changed a part in it. It started working again with no problem. So, it took him probably under an hour to figure out what the issue was there and get it back working for us. So, we were very pleased all three times we've used American Home Shield's service.

    I made a claim over the phone and the American Home Shield rep did a great job. The contractor from Astro Appliances came for the refrigerator in less than a week and did a great job as well. He came out and fixed both issues with the refrigerator. We had to wait on parts, so it was a week and a half to wait on them. But they contacted me immediately after I made the appointment to schedule a day for the service to begin. They were Johnny-on-the-spot the entire time. And, the repairman was very friendly. He was able to take care of one item that same day and then he said, “We’re gonna order a motor for the other.” So, they came back about a week later to fix the motor.     All this summer, the AC has been working with no problem and we have it checked twice a year. The contractor came in and cleaned both AC units. After he left, when I was in there, it was getting a little bit hot and I told my daughter that I didn’t think the compressor was working. She said she would check and the contractor came back out. He hadn't turned some switch back on but he got it fixed and he did a good job. The interactions with American Home Shield have been very good and we've always had good dealings with him.     I was having an electrical problem with my pool. The breaker kept on popping and it wouldn’t stay on. I was afraid it was gonna burn out my pumps. The contractor that came did a great job and fixed the problem within the same day. I've been with AHS for five years and the renewal was supposed to be automatic but it slipped by me last year and I didn't know why it just didn't continue. I assumed it’d just continue going until I decided to quit, but that wasn’t the case. My policy got dropped. When we needed them, they said I didn't have coverage. And I’m like, “What do you mean I don’t have coverage?” And so, I had to open up a whole new policy and wait a 30-day period before I can make a claim ‘cause it’s an automatic withdraw from my account, which irritated me.     The two people from Jet Plumbing, LLC who came to do the plumbing were swift. One of them went to look at the toilet, one of them went to look at the sink grinder, the disposal. They were able to unjam the disposal by just using a tool and when I turned it on it was still a little loud. The other one said that there may still be a little something in there and that I would just have to keep on using it and it may settle itself down. And he was right, it has settled down and it’s quieter now. With the toilet, the plumber immediately said that the insides of the back of the tank were old and worn-out. He went out and got a set from his truck, and replaced them, and the toilet ha been great ever since. AHS reps have always been very positive. They would say, “I’m sorry, this is happening to you.” And then, they'd set about handling the claim and would always check with me if there’s anything else that I need before we hang up. I’m so impressed.

    My air conditioner broke down about 2 weeks ago. American Home Shield would cover only $385.00 and $2245.00 on me. They offered me a cash out payment of $385.00 that covers labor only. I have not received the cash out and called today about the status of the cash out. They said they need proof of repair, when I called 4 days ago, somebody said the check is on the way. They have all kinds of excuses not pay for the repair, should not they at least half the cost of the repair. Be careful when you choose home warranty company. AHS did not work for me. I doubt their reviews.

    VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!! I have carried AHS for close to 30 years between a past home and now my current. I have been fortunate to live in 2 homes where costly repairs were not consistently needed, but when they were, AHS performed at a satisfactory level. Last week my A/C went out. I called AHS and a repairman was sent out within the week. The repairman climbed up to the attic to check the unit and took a photo. He explained to me that about 10-12' of duct was damaged and would need to be replaced. He explained he didn't carry that much duct on his truck and would also need to get approval from AHS.

    Two days later, I received an email asking about the performed service on my A/C. I called AHS to let them know repairs hadn't been done, as I was waiting for approval. The service representative then informed me that repairs would not be covered by AHS, as the photo they'd received from the repairman showed excessive damage due to abuse. Their opinion was the damaged section was not due to normal wear and tear and that I would be responsible for the repairs which would be approximately $600.00. I explained to the rep that this was not true. My husband or I have no business or desire to climb up a ladder to the attic to look at and then purposely damage the A/C unit. We simply noticed the house wasn't cooling when A/C on, and gave AHS a call!

    I asked to speak to a supervisor, was told he/she was on another line, but that someone would get back to me that evening. No one called. I called back that same evening before going to bed, spoke with another service rep asking to be transferred to a supervisor. Again. I was told a supervisor would get back to me shortly. No one called back. Called a third time the following day, wanting to share my concern and disappointment.

    It was this third call to AHS I learned I was talking to the Philippines. I asked this third representative if she could give me a phone number to their office in the United States. She could not. She assured me someone would call back. No one called back. I went online to look up the AHS Corporate Office. I found them in Tennessee with a phone number listed. I felt I was finally on to speaking to someone who could possibly help! The number I called sent me back to representatives in the Philippines...

    I have a A/C repairman coming out to the house today. Plan on getting 2 more estimates before we decide who we'll go with to make the necessary repairs. It will not be AHS. I will not give them any more money. After 30 years, I will be cancelling my policy. I will tell anybody looking for a home warranty company to stay away from AHS and find a company who will stand behind their business. If management within the company reads this, cares enough to contact me, I'm still willing to share my disappointment. Not holding my breath.

    Once I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, it took three days for Martin’s Appliance Repair to come out for the ice machine. They had to order a part and come back. They came back and they fixed it within a couple of days. But then it started making a noise. I contacted the contractor and let him know. He came back out today to see what the noise is. He has to order another part and he’ll be back to fix that on Friday.

    We've been with AHS forever. When we lived in Indiana, in Texas, and in Covington, we were with AHS. I try to submit claims online because calling is so hard. I wish the wait time wasn't so long if you wanted to speak to someone. But other than that, it's an easy process. I had a claim for my refrigerator. That was a headache. The first repair guy came in and said I just had to adjust the temperature. I think he just wanted to get out of here. The next morning, I had water everywhere on my floor and around my cabinets. It was not fixed. AHS called someone else out and the guy came out the next day. He said it couldn't be fixed and I asked him to let AHS know that. This was three to four weeks and my family of five didn't have a refrigerator. It was very, very hard times. But AHS took care of the replacement.

    For my most recent claim, G & E Appliances came out and the tech was great. He was very knowledgeable and he fixed the issue with no problem. Overall, I would recommend AHS. I'd tell my neighbor they should get it because you'll never know if something is gonna happen. Even for a new home, everything is new, you still can have a problem.

    Originally, when Summer Breeze, the air conditioner people, came out, the guy said I needed an electrician. A switch was turned off on the wall. Electrical Service Professionals just came out today and switched it on. He was really nice and great. On the other hand, Summer Breeze should've checked the fuse box, but he said the fuse box was bad and a fuse needed replaced. And that he didn't do that which he should have. So, that wasn’t very professional on Summer Breeze's part, not to have figured that out.

    And that whole debacle with the air conditioner company for the whole summer, trying to get it fixed was the problem from the get-go. They made an appointment and took two weeks for them to get there. When they got there, they said, “Oh, you need this motor.” So, it took two more weeks. So, we were without air conditioner for six weeks during the summer, just waiting for them to try to fix it. And then finally, they said, “Oh, you need a new air conditioner. They tried whatever they could do to prolong or patch it when I needed a new air conditioner the whole time.

    The last note I see on my online login with AHS was from June 26. They’ve been out two or three times, and the electrical work, and the follow-up when the air conditioner quit working again. Then, it was off again for another month. So, I was without air conditioner twice, both for extended periods of time. When the air conditioner company came out, they didn't report back. So, I had to keep on calling to find out what was gonna happen next. When I talked to someone from AHS, nothing got done and there was no follow-up.

    So now, I have a brand-new air conditioner, but I don't have any warranty and I don't have the paperwork. Summer Breeze said, “You have to get that from the warranty company.” Then, American Home Shield told me, “You have to get that from Summer Breeze.” I didn't renew with American Home Shield because of all this, and now, I’m afraid my air conditioner’s gonna break and I don't have any paperwork, warranty, or any proof that it was repaired or that I have a warranty on my unit. It’s really frustrating and I was very disappointed. If they're concerned and they care, then what happened wouldn’t have happened.

    So far, American Home Shield has been great to work with. My most recent claim was for a gas stove. One of the knobs to turn the burner on broke, so it’s leaking gas. I did the claim online. The website is easy to use. We were told that the contractor would get in touch with us within 24 hours, but it did not guarantee a time that they would be out to the house. I’ve used the site three times, and all three times, I had been contacted within 24 hours. On my most recent claim, the guy that came out and did the work was really nice and great. His name was Andrew. Everything’s back to 100% since he'd been out.

    Last year, I blasted AHS to the moon and back as they were gonna deny a claim. I climbed the ladder until they got my client's issue taken care of. The people AHS had sent were not qualified and they had terrible business ratings. When a client of mine calls and has a problem, if I feel they're wrong, I tell them. However that time, my client wasn't wrong.

    More recently, I placed a claim for an electrical issue to AHS on a Friday and their system said that it would be a business day when they would get back to me. They called me on a Saturday which is typically not a business day where I am and scheduled the appointment for Monday. Reliable Garage Door showed up at the appointed time and while I figured they'd repair what I had, they went in and put a brand-new one in. Everything was clean and well done. Plus, they didn’t ask for any more money than the deductible. I am a Realtor and I've had some problems with American Home Shield for clients in the past, but this was about as good and easy as it went. The contractor was Better Business Bureau listed A+ and the techs were professional and quiet. AHS has done a very good job for me.

    We found a little bit of mold on the wall and saw that we had some type of wall leak, so I started a claim with American Home Shield online. The contractor came out, and when they realized the scope of the mold, they called out some restoration people to come take a look and help us out to get that process started because they couldn't do any more work until the mold was taken care of. So, they helped us with that, and then it took a while to get that taken care of. And then they came back out once the work was completed and realized that it was much more than just the leaky wall. It was a complete deterioration of my cast-iron pipe under my house. So, they worked with us and put new plumbing and new pressure system in our home, and now we’re just working on the rebuild. It was a big job, but they did a good job helping us out. They finished everything. I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. But I wish the policy covered more.

    We had a problem with our dishwasher as there was a little valve that was stuck and there was water leaking inside. We submitted a claim online through the automated prompts and then we were to expect the contractors out in 24 hours. Hornet Appliance Services was sent out and they were in and out. They replaced the valve and explained everything in detail. They made it very simple, asked any questions, and then left and came back and repaired it the same way.     In my latest claim with AHS, there was a lot of back and forth with the plumber from about where to cut into the wall. And there were things that AHS would cover and things they wouldn’t. We were trying to figure out a way to do it without incurring too much personal expense, and went back and forth and then the leak just stopped. We don’t know why it stopped or when it’s gonna come back again and it became not a priority anymore. So, we just kinda dropped. I submitted this claim through email. Online would be okay too to submit claims. I think through phone is the least desirable because you always miss important information. I've been with AHS for five years and there hasn't been a reason to go somewhere else. They’ve been responsive.

    The air conditioner stopped working. It was going intermittent. And a contractor from AHS came out. They were early and they did a fantastic job. They found that it was a clogged line that was causing it to drop. They had to blow out the line with some nitrogen, and the ac has been doing very good. It was so hot and it made it bearable again. The fellow from Matt’s Plumbing Services came out and took a look at it. He was very professional and courteous.     We didn't have the highest hopes and we had heard in the past from other sources that we were going to be disappointed with American Home Shield but they came through for us twice in one year and it worked out very well. We appreciate it. There were some additional side charges, but they were negligible. The contractor did the repair on the air conditioner, and they told us that it was an old unit and it'll probably have more problems in the future but for now, it seems to be chugging along just fine. We had another property where my son lives, and the air conditioner had to be fixed there as well. Both of them were satisfactory.

    The house on Monte Vista came with a contract for one year at the time of purchase. Then, about 10 months into it, the air conditioner stopped working. Someone was sent over and they did a very good job of keeping that old unit. It's probably off the contract right now but we have a continuing contract on our house here on Convent Street.

    On our gas oven claim with American Home Shield, the first contractor that was sent said there was nothing wrong with the oven. Two people in the house cook all the time. I called American Home Shield back, and then Active Appliance came out. The service guy opened up the oven and unscrewed it, and he said we needed a new igniter. The first company was crappy. That was a waste of American Home Shield's money. Active Appliance helped there.

    On our electric oven claim, what was weird was, we had a problem with it keeping heat. We’d open the door, close it, and it would go off. Now, the contractor said to someone that was in the house that he needed to order a part. That was my understanding. Then I called, and that was when I got upset because no one called me about the part. What happened was, I called the Philippines, and I had a lot of hassle. And finally, they weren’t gonna come to look at my oven for another week and three days, and they said there was no part.

    So then, American Home Shield was waiting for the technician’s diagnosis. It took him many days to diagnose it, which I still don’t know what the diagnosis is today. So, we gave up on that. Then Active Appliance also came out for my refrigerator and said, “We’re gonna try to unplug it ‘cause it was dripping and leaking. I think that’s the thing.” He did not open up anything or unscrew anything to look at any lines. I undid my refrigerator, turned it off for 24 hours, did what he said, and then I turned it back on 24 hours. Two days later, it was leaking again. So, that was not good. And they were gonna take another week and three days to come back to look at it, which I thought was awful. I called them and I wanted to talk to the supervisor. I was not rude in any way, but then they just weren’t answering. So, I called American Home Shield.

    I called a lot, and Magic was the latest one that got involved. And they actually checked out my electric oven. They said it’s working fine. So, I think so far, it’s working fine. With my refrigerator, they came out within two days instead of a week and a half, and the tech knew the problem. So, Magic is like magic. I would hire them more than any other company so far.

    But with the first company that came out for my gas oven, the tech was very rude. He sat there and said, “It works. It works. What do you mean?” And then Active came in and said, “No. You need a new igniter.” So, American Home Shield's people are not the best. Their wasting their money. I already had five people coming for the same thing. It’s not fair. I call in to make my claims with them, and if my interactions are in America, they're pretty good. If it’s abroad, they say, “Oh, I’m so sorry. We can’t do anything about it.” I have spent an hour and a half trying to get supervisors. So, it's bad customer service. In fact, I almost cancelled my plan. That was what made them get Magic Appliance in here. I have not been happy, and I don’t think I’ll renew.

    The AC went out over the weekend, but nobody could come out on a weekend. The contractor came out yesterday and replaced the compressor motor and now, I’ve got a Freon leak plus a whole bunch of other work that needs to take place.     My air conditioner would quit cooling in the afternoon when it started getting really hot. It was like 100 degrees. And it would freeze you out of the house during the day, but in the afternoon when it started getting really hot, then it’d quit cooling. I had to turn it off. I finally figured out that if I would turn it off and leave it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on, it would work a little. I called American Home Shield and I got all my information and got me somebody. The contractors and the service they provided were good. They knew what they were doing and they did it.     I filed a claim online when our pool heater wasn't igniting. American Home Shield's website was great. But I had to wait for their phone call since there was an initial issue with the first contractor that was gonna come out. They weren't gonna come out for over six weeks. So I called back American Home Shield and told them I'm not waiting six weeks. American Home Shield rerouted me to Cleveland Aqua Pros, and it took them two weeks to get out there, and then after they got there, it was no problem. They had to place the order for the new pool heater, and it was done within a week. They were really good. They even gave us tips to help maintain it better. I would highly recommend Cleveland Aqua Pros. We were very satisfied with our experience. We were able to use our pool again. We have five grandchildren, and they all enjoy the pool.

    The rekey with American Home Shield went great. I contacted AHS and they contacted the contractor who called me the same day. But I was on vacation, so I rescheduled for two weeks later. The contractor was very professional and very nice. The locks work great. But we had another service with the AC, and I don’t think the contractor did anything. He changed the placement of the way the air flew in the house. That didn’t do anything. The AC still didn’t work. He messed with the ac for a minute and left. He said the unit is not the size for the house.

    I called American Home Shield and talked to a rep to file a claim on the AC unit. Controlled Comfort came out. The gentleman was kind of in a hurry, but I couldn't blame him. I’m assuming he’s got things to do. He accidentally left his extension ladder here. So, I called him and told him, and he came back and got it. Right now, the AC is broken again, and it’s not cooling down. When the gentleman was here, there was a problem with the disconnect and it actually melted down, which was cutting the power off to it. And so, he got that fixed. This time, it’s frozen up. So, there’s something going on with the Freon and everything else that I haven’t gotten to talk to AHS yet.

    There was backing up in the shower of the master bathroom then in the kitchen. After submitting a claim with American Home Shield, a technician came out the next day. He was very nice, polite and prompt. He repaired whatever it was in the master shower and it seemed to be fine, but the sink kept doing it. It didn’t do it for a few days then it started it again. We called the technician back out and he did something to it but it didn’t correct the problem.

    We were on vacation this past week and before we left, the sink was still backing up. We’re still within our 60-day warranty time. We just got back last night and I was gonna call and tell the technician they need to come back. Other than that, we like our technician and we are pleased with American Home Shield.     I do the regular maintenance check every year because my system is getting older now. So I do it on my furnace and my AC every spring and every fall. I saw a message from American Home Shield that said you could do each one and they had me process it separately into two different requests, one for the HVAC system and one for the ductwork. K&J Mechanical LLC came out and it went well. The technician said everything looked good, especially for the age of the system. But he didn't check the ductwork and I didn't realize that that didn't take place until he had gone. My husband reminded that I had requested it and paid for it. So I'm waiting for them to call me back so they can reschedule that part. I think it's because he didn't get the work order though.

    This company is nothing but FRAUD! I had my AC repaired on 9/20/19 which cost me over $800.00 to repair (which took 2 weeks to get them to come out because they were waiting for part from AHS) and after all that it was still was not working. I called on 9/20/19 to AHS because the service tech said my Evaporator Coil needed to repaired. The AHS lady I spoke to with the service tech said it was covered and he could repair it and did not need to change the original invoice. He needed to come back to repair as it was late. I got a call from his office stating when they called AHS they said it wasn't covered. So I called again and the person stated it wasn't covered. So on 9/21/19 I had to pay $550.00 for this repair. I had time on Sunday 9/22/19 to review my contract and in both the heating and AC section is states the Evaporator Coil is covered.

    COVERED: Ducted electric wall air conditioning systems – Water evaporative cooler systems – Costs related to freon recapture – Ducted electric central air conditioning systems including: condenser; metering devices (i.e. thermal expansion valves); furnace transition; evaporator coils and drain lines; air handling unit; air handling transition; secondary drain pan and lines; and refrigerant lines are covered. So I called on 9/22/19 to AHS and spoke to a guy who agreed with me that it was covered and was going to talk to his supervisor and I would get a call on Monday 9/23/19. Of course that never happened. I called today (Tuesday 9/24/19) and was told it does say it is covered but not for any cleaning under section H.

    "H. LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS 7. AHS is not responsible or liable for repair of conditions or replacement caused by chemical or sedimentary build up, misuse or abuse, failure to clean or maintain, missing parts, structural changes, fire, freezing, electrical failure or surge, water damage, lightning, mud, earthquake, soil movement, storms, accidents, pet damage, pest damage, acts of God, or failure due to excessive or inadequate water pressure." I cannot clean this area. Only a hired AC Tech could. The tech cleaned and repaired this part. These contracts are misleading to the consumer and I plan on filing a consumer complaint against AHS.

    I called AHS to report a leak in my main drain (the one sewage runs through). Their assigned plumber was out to confirm the leak on Tuesday 9/17. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday go by with no follow up. I stressed the urgency of the matter various times. They basically left me with leaking sewage, so I followed up again on Saturday 9/21. No status was provided. It's as if they didn't even talk to the plumber they assigned. 4 days went by! I told them I could not wait and had it fixed. They would offer a CIL (cash in lieu) instead. That ended up being $160, which is a joke. The work was well over $1,000. Companies like AHS get away with this too often. You finally need them for something major and they leave you waiting. I've had my contract with them for almost 8 years. It has probably cost me over $6,000 when you add up all the monthly payments, and they give me $160 for something major like this? I'm furious.

    I have used AHW on several occasions and as long as the job is simple it is completed in a timely manner. If it's complicated you can expect to wait and wait for completion. On the first occasion this happened to us we had an electrical issue, our entire upper floor had no electricity. AHS sent out contractor after contractor who were unable or refused to finish the job because of the scope of the work. We ended up without electricity for 2 months. We kept the warranty for another term besides this just in case, well our hot water heater went out. We waited a day and a half for someone to come out. When he arrived he appeared to know little about plumbing which concerned us. He then left the house saying he was going to check on the part needed and call us within an hour. Well four hours passed, still no hot water and no phone call.

    I called him. He said he was still looking. I called AHS and they told me they would contact contractor. Then I received an email that another contractor had been assigned. We ended up calling at the end of the business day and were able to find a contractor to come out the next morning. They had the parts, and we had hot water within a few hours. We could not risk waiting days or weeks for hot water like we did for the electricity. When I called AHS, they refused to refund the $100 service fee even though they did not fix the problem. My experience is they hire the cheapest least experienced contractors, give you the runaround when things are tricky and refuse to make it right when they are unable to fix things in a timely manner. Just save your money and be ready to pay for home fixes. This company is not worth bothering with.

    THIS IS THE WORST INSURANCE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE. YOU'RE BETTER OFF NOT GETTING INSURANCE!!!! So my water heater unfortunately stopped working and I called AHS to come replace or fix it due to the fact that I had 2000 dollars worth of insurance so when this time came all I would be charged for is the service fee.

    When I called they sent out a licensed plumber to take a look which I had to end up getting another opinion because this guy was so unprofessional he was literally in my house for less than 5 minutes, took off his sneakers for whatever reason took like two pictures and left. But anyways after they received the invoices from both plumbers they began to tell me that I would still have to pay 500 to 700 dollars still to fix a certain tube for the heater which I researched and looked into only cost 60 dollars in actuality so it definitely felt like a gimmick and mind you that cost MORE than an ENTIRE water heater itself!!!

    So I’m just so curious and confused as to what they do with the entire 2000 dollars!! WHERE DOES IT GO? WHAT DOES IT DO? WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? The whole sole purpose for this insurance was to cover it especially with 2000 dollars and when I asked for corporate information to contact them they ONLY had an address no email, no phone number, not even a fax number which is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL but hey glad to know I just gave 2000 dollars away for no apparent reason. Hopefully I get good karma in the future for it. Word of advice if you don’t want to waste money, time, or your sanity DO NOT GET INSURANCE WITH AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. THEY ARE FRAUDS!!!!

    I had two different claims with American Home Shield. With the upstairs AC unit that wasn't cooling, I phoned that in to AHS and I got a phone call from the company coming out to do the service. The service I received for that one was great. The guy did an exceptional job. In fact, that was the first service call that I had from AHS where the person came and did the repair all in one step. They didn't have to order a part, they didn't have to come back later. However, the service for the heater on my pool was terrible. I did not experience good service when it came to my hot water unit either. So, it seems like those that have to do with gas appliances, they're not very seriously considering the ramifications of those appliances.

    If it's gonna be a big out of pocket expense for AHS, I don't feel that I don't get covered adequately. You have a refrigerator that goes, they said they couldn't get the parts, so they did have to either cash me out or purchase a refrigerator. That works. On the hot water heater, they said it didn't meet code and I was gonna have to take down these walls to install a hot water heater. So the guy didn't turn it off, he didn't unassemble it, he didn't remove it, he just left with the $75 service call. And then, I had to get a cash out and hire someone.

    The contractors for the heater on my pool said one thing when they were out here, but they didn't state what they said when they turned in their paperwork. And then, I was forced to get a second opinion, the second opinion didn't agree, and what they told me versus what they told AHS was not the same. Now, AHS is offering a third opinion and they have declined to fix the unit that I asked them to come out and fix, stating that it's not normal wear and tear. The unit is 18 years old and the reason why I got a service contract was so that it'd be covered. I've spoken with multiple representatives stating that they would have someone call me back, and no one has. And then I got an email that the service was completed, but it wasn't. Then I spoke with somebody on LiveChat yesterday that asked me what did I want to see happen. I said I want the unit to be repaired or replaced. That's why I'm paying for a service contract.

    I'm a Realtor and not only am I not gonna use AHS anymore, I'm definitely not gonna refer anybody because this is the kind of service my clients would get. The AHS rep said he would allow the last person I spoke with to get in touch with me. And I said, "Well, that's good. Because the last person I spoke to said he was gonna have a person prior to him call me, and she never has." So, everybody promises to call back, but nobody does. This claim started 1st of June this year and since the heater unit of the pool is attached to gas and water, I had to shut off the gas line going to the unit and I had to diminish the water flow through that heater. It's just ridiculous. AHS service companies are all over the map, and most of the service people will agree that AHS doesn't repair things, they just put a bandage on it.

    The fridge was leaking water everywhere, and it was just running down and going exactly where the pot filler is on the wall, dripping down, and damages the basement ceiling. The contractor that AHS sent was good, nice guy too, and willing to help. We assumed it was the pot filler and we actually found out that it was not plumbing. It was an appliance. The contractor didn't do anything ‘cause it wasn’t plumbing so I had to remake a claim against the appliance. I just need some follow on if the damage that the water caused on the drywall and the ceiling stuff is covered under insurance as well, all in one claim. He couldn’t answer that, and I didn't know who I need to talk to to get that figured out.

    This house was put up 12 years ago, and I bought it eight years ago. I recently had a leaking toilet faucet and I paid $75 through my master charge. American Home Shield sent a plumber from Home Choice Service and when the plumber saw the faucet, he said it's Moen and they have a lifetime guarantee. Home Shield wanted us to get the part and I am supposed to get it, then when I get the part, call them back, and then these plumbers would come and fix it.

    I went online with Moen and asked them to confirm that they would cover the part, and they told me it's not guaranteed because I'm not the original purchaser. They sent me a copy of their Moen limited lifetime warranty as well. I can't get the part free and I'm very disappointed in American Home Shield because I am charged with the responsibility to go into a manufacturer to get a replacement part. First of all, I don't know how to take a picture and put it on my computer. I had to get my daughter to come and do it for me. American Home Shield should be responsible for fixing the faucet.

    Whoever installed the drain didn't put enough of a downward spout on it, so it was flooding the drain pan. The communication and interactions with the contractor were very good, and I would recommend them. The owner came out the second time to make sure it was done right. He explained what was wrong and the issue. I also had a claim with American Home Shield for the fridge and it wasn’t handled within a timely manner because it took us almost four weeks to get a fridge. I had to go pick it up myself because they couldn't deliver it for another week, and I wasn't waiting five weeks for a fridge when I had kids in the house. It made it very difficult. The first company that came out turned the report in after the sixth day and said that they couldn’t fix it. Before AHS sends contractors out, maybe they should do a background check. I did my own check on the first service repair company, with the fridge, and they didn't have very good reviews.

    The guy from R&S Home Maintenance who came out fixed the main problem, the dryer. But while he was here, he said that my door needs a replacement, that thing that holds the door from flopping down. I said okay. And he said, “Well, I was gonna order that part for you. And when it comes in, I’ll just come back.” When I asked if I need to go ahead and say something to AHS, he said “No. You don’t live far from me. So, when the part comes in, I’ll just bring it in and put it on. Don’t worry about it.” We took him at his word. So, I went on and signed up on some paper. I should have known better. I’ve been out of town but I have my cellphone with me the whole time and that was where he was supposed to call me. It has been over a month now and I have heard nothing back from him.

    I had Sears and a friend of mine said that I should try American Home Shield because they were better than Sears. AHS's price was $25 higher than Sears, but the guy said that AHS service was so much better. So, I changed over and have been with them for six months now. Other than my experience with that guy from R&S, I have no problems with AHS. So far, they've been fine.

    There was an issue with the drain pipe from the house to the outside sewer. When I spoke to somebody from AHS, I had problem understanding the policy because the person had an accent. I wanted to know what was covered but once I read it, I was fine. The plumber had to come out two different times because he didn’t know the problem at first, but he was able to fix it.     My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the freezer part of my refrigerator. It wasn’t draining and it was all ice up on the inside. There was a big chunk of ice on the very bottom of it. I called and they sent a repairman out, and he got all that ice out of there. And he tried to clean up, but there were a bunch of parts that needed to be ordered for it. And evidently, they couldn’t get those parts anymore. Then they called me and told me that American Home Shield would be getting ahold of me.

    American Home Shield called me and gave me the option to order a refrigerator from them or from the company that they always order from, or they gave me an option to send me a check and I could go find one myself. They told me how to get online and find out where they were getting the refrigerator and stuff from, and I looked at it and I just went ahead and ordered it from them. I got a GE refrigerator. Evidently, they do a lot of business with this company, so they can get a discount type of thing, but then if I wanted to go someplace else, they would have sent me a check for $1,100 and some to go do my own.

    I chose just to go with the one that I looked at, that they were thinking about, and it was basically like the same thing that I had, same dimensions and everything. So, I couldn’t see any sense in going out and trying to find another one, and AHS just had it delivered. The problem is the people that delivered it. In order to put the fridge in the house, they have to take some doors off to get it out. They don’t do that. We were gonna do that ourselves. But I haven’t had a chance yet to even utilize it. So, it is sitting out on my back patio. What Home Shield told me was once I got it in the house, then they would send somebody out to hook it up and do whatever needed to be done to it. But the delivery people do not dismantle and put it back together. The reps of AHS are very friendly, and if they can't help me, they get me to somebody who can.

    The AC unit was still running but if I had the thermostat set at 70, the house temperature would climb to 75 before it would start to cool back down again. It couldn't keep up for some reason. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and it wasn’t bad. It asked me what it was for, I put in AC, and they said that they assigned a contractor, and they said they would call me. The next day, I called the contractor and they told me when they would be out. It took a couple of days and the first guy that came out didn’t know what he was doing. He was a young kid and I don't know how much experience he had, but he didn't find anything wrong other than the filters.

    There are two air filters in the house for the air conditioner unit. One is in the living room and one is in the bedroom, and I replace them every three months and it was two months into it. I was gonna wait another month to replace them and the technician said they were clogged and that was what the problem was. I paid $100 for something I did myself. I got the step ladder, went up, loosened the grate, took the filter out and put a new filter in. Each filter only took 10 seconds. Then he left and said that it was the problem but I didn't believe that. A month later, the whole unit just stopped. I put in another call and a different guy was sent out. The new guy from the same company came out and he went up in the attic and he found a wire that was shorting out and he fixed that. He checked the unit out as well as the Freon, and the AC has been okay ever since. I wasn’t billed the second time since the first guy didn’t do anything.

    Earlier this year, American Home Shield had a special they were running for 75 bucks to come out and check your air conditioner and make sure it's ready for the season. I signed up for it. I called on the phone and they didn't schedule a date. So three days later, I called back and AHS said they assigned it to a company. I called the company and they said they couldn't do maintenance. People's air conditioners were breaking down and they serviced them first. I said that I could understand that but they were never coming to do the maintenance on it.     The temperature in the refrigerator was rising and wasn’t keeping the food cold. I called Hotshot Appliance so they could come back out because they had recently fixed it for the same thing but it's working good now. The refrigerator has had the same problem a couple of times with the temperature not holding, and it seems like American Home Shield doesn't necessarily want to replace it, which it may need. They just wanna continue to fix it. AHS should kinda look at the overall history and they need to evaluate and ask why they need to keep sending people to fix it if it's the same thing. The experience hasn't been perfect with AHS but I would still recommend them.

The tech said that the main sewer line was stopped up coming through the toilet, and it caused a overflow in the drywall on the second floor. All their services are excellent.     I filed a claim for the AC when it stopped working. I was really impressed with American Home Shield because when I called and told them my husband had heart concerns, and could they get someone out the same day, the rep called the contractor right away. And then she came back to the phone and said that they would be out that afternoon. It was a great, great experience because I was really stressed out when I called around 7:30 that morning.

    The contractor that American Home Shield assigned to the claim called on a Monday, and they came out the same day. But the AC went out again in two or three days, so we called them again. They needed a part, so they had to come out a third time. But the work was performed great because the end result is that the AC is really working good now.     When I purchased my first house, the seller offered American Home Shield to me and I've been with them since 1997. My latest claim was for the icemaker of my refrigerator and the tech that AHS sent out was really good. The work was completed in less than an hour. I would recommend AHS. But I don't like that I have to pay before the contractor comes out. There’s that possibility you might change your mind, then you gotta take a couple days.     I logged a claim online with American Home Shield. It was for a fridge repair. There was some electronic component that was not working so it had to be replaced. The online claim process was very easy and the followup from both American Home Shield and the company they provided was good. It took five days for a technician to come to my house. American Home Shield could not find another company nor could they get a sooner schedule. And this is not the first time. Anything I have with them, it takes them a good while before somebody gets sent irrespective of how urgent I say something is. But the company that American Home Shield gave the last time around had very good service. I didn't have a problem with the company itself but it took a while for them to get the part.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for 17 years now and I’m extremely annoyed with their repair-versus-replace policy. They go way over to try to repair and repair things. When it gets to a point when it needs to be replaced, they don’t replace. This is always the case. Also, I’ve never had American Home Shield follow up and ask me if my issue was resolved. I don’t think they have a competitor in the industry. American Home Shield pretty much has a monopoly in the industry. For this particular refrigerator repair, the component was pretty expensive, so it kind of pays for the annual fee or monthly fee. That’s the only reason why I keep my home warranty because I’m hoping at least I’ll break even. These components, when you replace them, they are $600 a pop irrespective of whether you’re trying to fix a fridge or an AC. But if I had a chance to move to another company, I will.

    The tech from All In One Appliance Repair was fantastic. He called before he came just to get the details of what was going on because there’s not a lot of detail when I submit the computerized version. He pretty much knew what was going on before he even came. So, he came with the prepared part, he was ready to go, and then, he still made sure that he wasn’t missing anything before he left. He did the job, made sure everything was good, and gave me some more information about how to take care of appliances, and he was great.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for a really long time. Most of the time, it’s good. Things have really improved. Submitting claims online is easier ‘cause I don't have to look up as much. I do online for submitting and then I call I have questions. One time, I had a complex issue with my air conditioner that was a problem. I had to keep talking to different people and I really needed to just talk to one central manager because it was a redo situation. Since it’s their job to try to solve it without sending me to a manager, it took several calls, but that’s protocol. I understand. However, if they could just give me to the top person, this would get done so much faster, but then, they got it resolved. So, it worked out. In the beginning, like six years ago, they were not hiring the best subcontractors. But we’ve had really good experiences with our contractors over the past three years. So, whoever they're working with has been a lot better.

    I live in a house in a development where everybody's air conditioners are bad. They're too small of units for our townhouses, they're more for condos, and I've been told this by several air conditioning guys. In the first year I was here, we had an issue and it was 105 degrees. We couldn't even stay here. I called my American Home Shield, and the people that they recommended didn't get here for five days. They were terrible, not polite, and just awful. They came out 2 or 3 times in the past. So in my records, I want them taken off the list and use Air Pro Services instead. Air Pro Services is amazing, family-oriented, and they know our name when they called to tell me what time their guy's coming.

    In a recent claim, my air conditioner stopped working and it was 99 degrees out. I called American Home Shield at 5 or 6 o'clock in the morning, and someone called me back at 8:00. The guy from Air Pro Services was here by 10:00. I specifically asked for them when I called because I didn't want the first company to be sent out. So, it was a very good experience and everything's great since the repair. When I call American Home Shield and speak to a representative, they ask what the problem is. They are very nice and they would schedule the call for the air conditioning company to come out then I get a call back. It's a really good service.

    This company has failed to comply with their contractual obligation to make a repair authorized by their vendor and ordered. It's been almost 3 weeks. On 9/6/19 a service call was made in response to a request for service. The vendor that looked at our HVAC diagnosed the problem as a broken blower motor that was covered under the warranty. The part was supposed to be ordered the same day. I called American Home Shield the same day to confirm this. They quoted me 3-5 days to receive the part. My local rep Rick ** assured me that they would expedite my part because of the extreme heat.

    On 9/10/19 I called to check on the status of the part and was informed that it was never ordered. I was told by Monica at American Home Shield that the part was ordered and would arrive on 9/18/19. On 9/19/19, I was informed that the part was never shipped and that the part still has not left the manufacturer. As of 9/23/19, the part still has not been shipped. No one from American Home Shield is contacting me to give me a status. I requested them to let me hire an outside vendor to make the repair in one day and they denied me. My family has no Air Conditioning and temperatures in our home are over 80 degrees.

    I am very frustrated with you! I had a contract and was paying $34.99 a month. I just realized yesterday that you have been charging me $49.99 since May 2019!!!!     End of day it's all about the fine print and expectations. I've had them for several years. Here is what I learned. And will be canceling now.

    - If you want one person to call who will have someone show up and fix what's broken this isn't a bad solution. If this is all you are using them for, you are probably overpaying given the several hundred dollar annual fee plus the deductible.

    - Don't expect a new appliance/unit without serious delays or hassle. Each major issue I had was a several week turnaround. Small issues were pretty quick though. They only use places they buy from so if your unit needs a major part they will spend weeks trying to find it. We went without A/C for weeks because of this and our water heater was the same way.

    - The way they don't lose money is they value each of the items they cover and provide a Maximum lifetime payout for each, which they all are very low. When my water heater went out, it was several weeks to replace so I took the cash value which was $425. The cost to replace was around $1,500. And you need to have it installed by a licensed person with proof or they will not pay.

    - You may still pay a lot for an issue. My A/C went out on a 30 year old A/C. The compressor broke and to replace the compressor I had to shell out an extra $1,000 for new freon, and some piping work. This wasn't covered. So to repair the cost of an old AC was not worth the out of pocket. The cash out value they gave me for the "repair" was $478.

    - It's in their best interest to continue to fix the unit until it's not fixable because this reduces their lifetime value they will pay out on a per appliance/unit. If you keep getting something serviced, it reduces the overall payout on an item so when it does break the amount you end up getting is marginal and you will spend about the same amount of money on whether you had a warranty or not.

    End of day, it's convenient when you have a minor issue, but don't go looking for this to save you a lot of money. I think I probably broke even on what I purchased at the end of the day (and assuming I get my check).

    After a lot of research I paid for American Home Shield's premium package. We purchased a home built in 1996 and they were one of the few companies that would cover us regardless of the previous owners maintenance and negligence of the home. The Premium package was over 600.00 dollars which I did not mind paying as it was going to cover our home should anything break down.

    A month and a half into it, we had our attic checked out in our efforts to cut down on our high energy bills and the gentleman informed us that our attic ventilation fans were not working. So we made a claim to AHS (American Home Shield), after two of their vendors let us know they could not help us, I asked for an outside authorization which they authorized. That Gentleman came our and told us that they were in fact not working and called AHS with the quote which was denied, after talking to AMS regarding the denial they sent a second contractor out to evaluate the problem in which he concurred with the previous contractor, but was also denied!

    We ended up paying for the 1st contractor out of pocket just to keep from the AC unit from going bad due to the excessive heat and constantly working unit. Needless to say we decided to CANCEL the policy as they were NO HELP at all. We were told they would cancel the policy and pro-rate the amount for the months we had it. Also said there would be early termination of 58.00 + 58.00 for June, July and August meaning we would get back approximately 450.00. Well the check I received was for $94.30! I have been on the phone constantly trying to reach someone in the United States and not Philippines or other countries and have yet to do so, I've asked for Managers, or higher up employees in the US and keep getting the same run around! American Home Shield should not be conducting business if this is how they are going to do it!!

    I have been with American Home Shield since Feb 2019. This was my first time requesting service for anything and my experience was horrible and raised my blood pressure severely! I have never been treated so bad by a company who I chose based on their stellar reviews. I am a paying customer, so I expected much better treatment.

    I contacted AHS on 9/7/19 to request service on my central AC unit....it wasn't coming on or blowing out air....with temperatures in the upper 90's, making the temp in our home 87 degrees, and my son having asthma so severe that if he gets too warm, he has seizures, this was an emergency! The customer service rep who process my request said I would get a call from the contractor, Curtis Repair, to set up an appointment. I was also given their number to contact them if I did not hear from them soon. I waited a few hours and no call, so I called the company myself to see if I could expedite getting an appointment set up for that day and I received no answer.

    So, I called AHS back to let them know that the company seems to be closed and the rep said I will have to wait until they are open on Monday. I let the rep know I could not wait that long due to the severity of my child's condition and the need to get AC working quickly or we would be forced to leave our home and pay money for a hotel. The rep told me that since they already sent the request to Curtis repair, they can not take the request back and send another contractor that was open on weekends....because I stated it was an emergency, I would think the rep would know that I need someone out that day, so assign me a contractor that was open on Saturdays, but they didn't and we was forced to get a hotel to keep from having my son's health affected.

    Once the repair guy from Curtis Repair came out on that following Monday, 9/9/19, he was at our home a total of 5-10 minutes before he told us we needed to just change our filters and that we would need freon before next Summer and he then left....no paperwork/service order/invoice showing what he did or recommend we have done was left with us. Because he was only there a short time, I told my husband I do not think he checked or did a full diagnostic of the system to ensure there was not other factors affecting the AC and he did not wait to see if the temperature changed or everything was up an running smoothly, that seemed weird, but I figured he knew what he was doing.

    That same day, we went to Home Depot and paid about $15 for the filters, took them home and put them in. The air seemed to flow better and cool the house overnight. That next week, we were back to square one....NO AC! So that right there tells me, he could not have checked everything. I contacted AHS to request a recall and while I was on hold, the rep reached out to see if Curtis repair was available to return to our home that day. They received no answer, so they placed us in a queue for emergencies and a day later, we finally received a call back from Curtis Repair to schedule a visit for 9/20/19. The technician was the same guy who came the first time and over the phone he said it sounded like a blower issue. It was last minute, so I had to leave work to meet him at our home to get the repairs done.

    When he arrived, few hours later than the original appointment time, again, he was in our house about 5-10 minutes, did not even go outside to check the unit, just when down to the basement to check the blower. He came back and got me from upstairs to look at what he had to do, he opened the damper up, so air would flow upstairs. The air was definitely flowing up harder, not cool at that moment, but I figured when I came back home later, the house should be cool.

    Once again, the technician leaves without giving me any paperwork explaining what he did or what he recommends....he left so fast! I went back to work and returned later that evening to find that the house had not cooled down any, in fact it was a degree hotter than what it was earlier that day. I was so upset and frustrated! It was late, so I waited and called AHS first thing in the morning 9/21/19 and initially spoke with an agent who pretty much told me that I would have to have the same company come out for this recall and he proceeded to contacted them while I was on hold....when he returned to the call, he said that the contractor, Curtis Repair, said they would not return because we refused the freon the first 2 times, which was not true, and went on to say their diagnosis was freon.

    I let the rep know that what they were being told by the contractor was not true and that the technician sent to our home did not even leave paperwork/service order/invoice stating anything he was saying and that he did not tell us that the issue was low freon, in fact, he told us we would just need more before the next Summer of 2020. I let the rep know that I did not want that contractor returning to my home, because each time he has given incorrect information of the issues, did not thoroughly diagnose the unit for other issues and was not professional in ensuring everything was good prior to leaving our home.

    I requested, they send another contractor and ASAP, as we were in desperate need to have the AC fixed that day. The rep said he couldn't send another company because I would incur an additional $100 service fee if the "supposed diagnosis of low freon" from Curtis repair is the same diagnosis as the new company. I said how is that fair when Curtis Repair has not lifted a tool to repair anything and they just told us what we needed to go spend additional money on and a knob to twist to open/close the damper. I was not getting anywhere with the rep, so I requested his supervisor who said she would help me, but only made my frustration worse. She says that Curtis Repair is only willing to return to our home if we agree to pay the non-covered expenses of getting freon. I said fine, I will get the freon if they are now claiming this is what's going to solve the issue.

    She calls them and they say they are not able to come that day and that they are not going to come until Tuesday. I let her know that was not acceptable and that it was an emergency and a new contractor needs to be sent that day and if they did not place this as an emergency to get someone out to our house right away, I was going to contact corporate about my treatment and this matter overall and seek service with another warranty company. Even with saying that, she did not budge to try and ease my concerns and get the issue fixed in my favor.

    I was so FURIOUS! I ended the call with her, telling her that I will now have to contact a contractor myself, which would be more money spent, to get our AC fixed before we could spend another night in our home. I immediately located a company that was available 24/7 and who placed me right on the schedule to be taken care of within a couple hours. They treated me like I was important enough and mattered! The company just so happens to be contracted with AHS, which I found out when the technician arrived. The company is Greenway Home Services and they were AWESOME! The technician engaged us the entire time he was in our home, explaining everything he was doing, the details, so we understood what needed to be done and what the tools he was using actually did.

    He was there maybe and hour to an hour and a half. He thoroughly checked and diagnosed the unit (outside and inside) and provided details of the issue, the reading from his machines used and how what needed to be replaced worked. Showed us the old part and what it currently read and what the new part read. Turns out it was NOT FREON like Curtis Repair "claimed was their diagnosis", in fact it was the Capacitor that needed to be replaced and he also let us know that the FREON WAS PERFECT.

    The technician also waited around to ensure the air was coming out cool and that the pressure was good. He thoroughly check EVERYTHING, was engaging, made sure we understood everything he did/checked, was professional and polite....treated us like we was his family, with urgency, respect, care, compassion and empathy! If I decide to stay with AHS, I will ensure to request Greenway for any of our HVAC needs that may arise.

    Before the technician left, he gave us an invoice that detailed everything he did and any recommendations. I had to pay their service fee and cost of the part replacement, for a total of $179.95. Once he left, I immediately contacted AHS back letting them know that the diagnosis Curtis Repair gave was incorrect, that our AC was now fixed, by a company they actually are contracted with, and that I needed to file a grievance and have my $100 service fee paid to them refunded due to the fact that the contractor they sent provided in accurate information, did not properly diagnosis our AC unit and that the service was overall VERY POOR and the treatment I received from first to last call with AHS was HORRIBLE!

    I am now out $279.95, which is payment for services that is covered under my warranty, but since I had to find someone myself because the AHS reps would not, I had to spend out of pocket. It is only fair that I be reimbursed at the least the cost of the part ($100) and the service fee I had to pay for Curtis Repair to even come out and they did nothing! I am sending this review to corporate and I am now waiting to receive a call back from the AHS contractor affairs department. Hopefully, I am able to get this resolved to my satisfaction and be refunded and reimbursed the total of $200. If not, I will definitely be leaving AHS and signing with a new home warranty company.

    Filed to have my kitchen range fixed in July. After nearly 3 months and over 10+ hours of call-time with AHS it's still not fixed. They have the absolute WORST customer service and show no concern of having it repaired. I don't understand how they remain in business with such poor practices. They should be ashamed of themselves. Don't bother purchasing a plan through them, and should you already have one, you're better off seeking out your own contractor. It may cost you more, but it will save you so much in anguish. If I could have rated them zero stars I would.

    The AC was not cooling at all and wasn't really powering up. We had had the issue for about four days before I filed a claim to Home Shield. I did it online and it was easy to navigate through.     Mister Plumber did a great job but I didn't know that a stoppage in my drain in my bathroom wasn't covered by American Home Shield. The plumber had to use a snake and I paid him 250 plus. He wouldn't take a check and I didn't have cash, so I gave him my credit card and it went through. Then when I called AHS to try to get reimbursed the $75 that I paid upfront, they wouldn't reimburse it. My wife and I were pissed. They didn't give me my money back when they should’ve. I've been with AHS for a long time and I have their service contract every year. But a customer like me who has been loyal with AHS can't get a credit. I like to stay with what I have unless it’s terrible service. I can always go to somebody else.

When I went back and tried to get it done properly, like with my air conditioner, I had to go through a big fiasco. I was unhappy about that.     I had an issue with the light over the shower. It was really not a big issue, but it was just something that was kinda silly because I changed the bulb in it one day, and then the next morning, it just popped off. And it never has done that before. The way it snapped, I thought it was gonna catch fire because of the way it did it and it was right above shower. So, I shut it off and I called American Home Shield, and they sent out Turner Electric & Lighting. The interaction was great. They were very good, on time and very professional. The tech came out and he checked all the wiring and figured out what was going on. The wiring was fine. And it was just because of the incandescent bulb up there over the shower which shouldn’t have been there. The tech said they get too hot.

    AHS's claims submission went fine. You don’t really have a say on how important the claim is when you put it in. You can’t tell them, “Okay, look I have no refrigerator. This thing’s not working.” You just have to put in the claim. And I don’t really care for that part of it because you can’t say anything. And when you’re trying to put it in online, there’s no way to vocalize, “I have no use. This is urgent. I need somebody out like right now. And so, then you have to try to call the contractor once you find out who it’s assigned to, and then of course, they can’t fit you in. And that’s like pulling teeth trying to get the contractor to move you into a schedule, to get you in there. Nobody seems to give a darn that you need something.

    When my refrigerator went out, which was just recent, I was going into surgery the next day and I was on physical restrictions. I had no freezer, no refrigerator and it was ridiculous. Thank god my son who lives a mile away had some ice chests. And so, he came over and put things in ice chest. The doctor told me I was going outpatient surgery for removal of a cyst in the lining of my stomach, and when I came out the next day, he put me on zero lifting. It turned out that the cyst was a tumor and that they had to take a portion of my stomach. And so, when I came home that day, he told my son and my daughter-in-law that I can’t lift anything and that I'm off for the next 10 days. The doctor said, “Well, she’s living outta ice chests till she gets this fixed." But the AHS contractor couldn’t come out right away so my son tried to set the ice chest up on this bench, so I could get into things.

    It took AHS a couple of days to come out and I had to fight with them. They said, “Well, we’ll do a one-time thing to pay for a mini fridge.” So, my son went down to Walmart. I had to pay and I’m still waiting for reimbursement on the mini fridge. They said, “Well, send a receipt to this email and we’ll pay up to $125.” I did and I still don’t have reimbursement. It was a huge hassle. They need to just send me the money. I shouldn’t have to go through this. When I got a response back, it said up to 21 days. They better pay me back because it cost me more than $125, but all I’m gonna get is $125. So, I had this mini fridge, and then a few days later, A & R Appliance came out. It took them a couple of trips. They had to order some parts, and they had to fix the refrigerant lines, and then replaced some part on the front of my fridge.

    About a week total, it got fixed finally. The first guy that came out for my refrigerator tried to tell me it was because there was dust underneath. He said, “You have pets?” I said, “Oh, my dogs are outside right now.” But he goes, “You need to clean under this all the time.” He said something about customer neglect. And I said, “Excuse me?” It was a young kid that was fairly new at the company. And whenever the next guy came out, I complained to him about it. I said, “I do not appreciate hearing customer neglect. I clean my house.” And he goes, “Oh, I’m sorry. He’s fairly new.” And I said, “Well, he needs to watch what he’s saying.”

    Finally, my refrigerator was taken care of. The first guy was complaining because my refrigerator was big, it was in a tight spot, he didn’t wanna move it out. And then he told the guy that he called into, that the problem was the compressor, which was not. The other guy came out a day or two later and said it was the refrigerant lines. He replaced those, he tested the compressor, and it was fine. And then he ordered some other part, and came back a few days later, and fixed that part finally. It was a nightmare. I was sick this whole time and when I had to call in to find out if they could move this up, the gal on the phone was rude. I couldn’t talk. I had surgery, and I had tubes down my throat, so it was the day after my surgery and I was trying to talk. I had my phone on speaker and she said, “Well, you can stop yelling at me.” I said, “I’m not yelling at you.”

    I finally got the ref fixed. The guy finally came out. He wasn’t too happy to have to come back out, but he did. And if there’s any more problems, he said to just call and they’ll come out and fix it. I like American Home Shield however, I’m unhappy with some of the contractors that they send out. I’m a little frustrated with them. Overall, the contractors were okay but if they’re gonna continue to pick up work from American Home Shield, then they need to accommodate a little better and be a little more professional. When somebody tells them that they’re in a hospital or going in a hospital, they should be willing to move the appointment up.

    Our house is set up all weird with all the electrical light switches not working and two or three light switches goes to one light. I had just moved in and American Home Shield said, “We can come out there and look at it.” I can only do one claim and I have to wait a month to submit the other one or to do it again because I couldn’t do two at one time. The contractor of AHS helped me understand how to figure the electrical set up. I just learned how to deal with it now. AHS was informative.     I have an air conditioning problem going on for two years. Air & Water Solutions recently came and they were great. I didn’t have a problem with them. But the company that came out before them, All Temp Heating & Cooling in North Haven, Connecticut, is a fraudulent company, and they’re scamming American Home Shield and their customers. They would say that they would do stuff but they never did. They would submit claims to American Home Shield, take my deductible, and bill American Home Shield.

    They said they were gonna submit a claim to replace my whole unit because the whole thing was ruined, but they submitted a claim to repair the fuse. So, we were waiting for almost a month to get a whole new unit. But the contractor still to this day hasn’t returned anyone’s phone calls. I was gonna contact a bunch of people just because this guy is going around screwing people and the insurance company out of money ‘cause he’s billing them for services that he’s not doing. And American Home Shield’s not doing anything about it.

    So, American Home Shield finally sent out this most recent company, Air & Water Solutions. They came out the other day and said that the first contractor never did what he said he did. He said, “Your unit is compromised because we have no idea what these people did.” Then, Air & Water Solutions repaired stuff in a week. So, I looked up on Better Business Bureau the previous company and saw that there are repeated claims against this company. Yet American Home Shield still uses them, and they’re continuing to scam American Home Shield. It is absolutely terrible. I spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of dollars filling up my AC with Freon that never happened, and American Home Shield won’t make it right. It is absolutely terrible.

    I also have a huge problem with American Home Shield. My wife and I have been calling, complaining, making sure we’re on a recorded line but no one will address our complaints. It was the worst experience. My wife as a Realtor sells hundreds of these policies to potential buyers since it’s like an aid to help close on a deal. She made it very clear during our complaint that she would not be representing American Home Shield anymore. She has about 50 agents in her office and they would not be recommending American Home Shield because of the way they handled our claim.

    AHS is absolutely terrible. If you have a problem with something, they can dispatch and get someone else to fix something. But when there is something wrong like this kind of situation, they don’t have the means to handle or process it. When you ask to speak to a manager, they refuse to let you speak to management. After the job was completed, I’ve put so many comments about them detailing my experiences but no one’s called me. These guys should be in jail.

    In all the years, since 2007, that we've had American Home Shield, the contractors came within the time they said they would come. In the beginning, I think it was always later, like at that end of that time, but now, it's more like they come early. They say the time they're gonna be here and it's always within that time. I would recommend them.

    It was very good with Premier Appliance Repair who came out for the stovetop. The stovetop wasn't heating right, like a few of the burners were on and off, would work and then wouldn't. The contractor was professional and he replaced one burner that needed replacing and the other two coils. He did a pretty good job. The stovetop has been very good since the repair. The representative I interacted with when I called in this claim was also very good.

    The gas got turned off. And so, the gas company came to turn everything back on. The person that came from the gas company indicated that there might be a problem, and that I should get it checked out. I wanted to get a check, just like a regular maintenance check done on my furnace. So, I had that happen and a guy said I needed a whole new furnace. American Home Shield called me back and said whatever reason he put down that I needed the furnace wasn’t covered. So, they said that I should get a second opinion.

    The second person that came out said the furnace was essentially fine. He cleaned some stuff, and he checked it out again and turned it on and looked at everything a second time, and he said it was fine. The second person was great. The first person seemed like he was pretty good too. My furnace was really old, so I don’t know if he just thought, because it was old, I needed a new one. The first time I filed the claim, it took a while for the contractor to come out. I had scheduled it pretty far out in advance. But they contacted me within 24 hours.

The tech worked around my schedule, which was really good because I had to reschedule on them, and he ended up coming out on his day off on Sunday. So, they were able to accommodate me.     I've had American Home Shield for three months. When the AC wasn’t coming on, I submitted a claim with AHS online and it was pretty easy.     The condenser had gone kaput and it wasn’t turning on at all. When this all happened, it was 102 degrees in the afternoon and in five minutes, I submitted the claim to American Home Shield which was about as long as the time it took me to get on the website and figure out who to call. The claims rep understood what the problem was and said that they would assign someone to it. This was at 10 o'clock at night and at 9 o'clock the next morning, someone called me and scheduled the appointment for the servicemen. The contractor was fine. He had to drive a long way, but that was the nature of his beast anyway. He made a quick diagnosis. He had the part on his vehicle, he put it in and it started running. He was done within 20 minutes. Since the repair, we’re back to normal.

    One day, the AC started giving me hot air and we’re in Arizona, so that was a problem. I requested AHS for a service and the techs came right away. I loved that. They came very promptly and it took them a half hour to be up there. There were some wires that had burnt and they fixed that. I was very happy with their service and since the repair, the AC had been doing great. After that, I sold the house and soon, I will get another one, then I’ll get the service again. I also tell everybody about AHS and that they should get the warranty because it worked really well for me. Whenever I had issues, I'd call the insurance and right away, they’d connect me to the right outfit that would come and help me.

    I live in Kansas and it is mid September, still 90+ degrees outside. I came home from a trip with my wife and kids to discover our air conditioner had a malfunction. I made a claim with AHS (Friday), paid the $100 fee and a contractor was assigned and came to the house on late Monday. The house was around 89 degrees by then. The contractor came to the house, told me the condenser was bad and left. I heard from AHS on Wednesday saying the replacement had been approved. The contractor arrived around 4 pm on Saturday to replace the part.

    Meanwhile the house was around 91 degrees by then. Luckily I have amazing neighbors that let us stay in their home while mine continued to bake for over a week, take note in your contract where it states "Upon your request, AHS will determine if expedited services are necessary and available, and will make reasonable efforts to expedite services accordingly. Additional fees may apply."

    I made this request when the air conditioner went bad and AHS just gave me a "We'll do what we can" reply. I would make a strong assumption nothing was done on their part to expedite these services. My wife called me after the contractor arrived and said the thermostat needed to be replaced. I asked her, "Why would a thermostat need to be replaced if the condenser is being replaced?" The contractor said "because this system doesn't speak with the thermostat." I quickly drove home to see what was happening.

    When I arrived the contractor was replacing the $600 Carrier Infinity thermostat with a $15 Emerson thermostat, why would he do that to just replace a condenser?! Come to discover he was replacing the entire outside unit, current unit was a 4 year old Carrier Infinity unit with a SEER 17 rating with a bottom of the line Lennox unit with a SEER 13 rating. He told me that's what American Home Shield ordered! Take note of the fine print in your contracts people, American Home Shield will screw you over at every turn they can. If you have nice appliances, they will (and have from my experience) replace them with the cheapest ones they can.

    Before I purchased my house I had a home inspection. The unit was working fine. However, when I I’m moved in the ac unit was frozen. I filed my claim that Sunday & was asked to pay an $80 service fee. On their website they say they contract w/ local providers & that’s not the case. It’s now a week later & I still have no air. I spoke w/ a supervisor named Martha who said she would personally handle my claim. I requested that she contact one of the five providers I found on Google. Instead, she went back to the original company. I was never able to speak w/ her to follow up. Please think twice before you choose this company. I’m currently looking for another provider since I’m within my thirty days.

    I have AHS in a rental property and it took them almost a week to resolve the issue on the stove. So, I had to tell my tenants that they couldn’t cook for a week from the gas stove because there was an issue with it. But they understood that it was through American Home Shield and they made it work. When you’re paying rent and you can’t cook in your house, a week is a long time and I was getting nervous that they were gonna start giving me some food bills.

    But the techs that AHS sent out provided great customer service. They were very professional with their work. I didn’t really get to see them but from what I heard, all the calls that I got from them were really good. They answered quickly to the call and the first guy that went out was awesome, too. As soon as he called me, he made it a point to really go there and he was super accommodating. I would love to hire him privately, if I could. They’re supposed to bring the stove today and so far, my experience has been excellent.

    I also spoke with a rep from AHS the other day and she was phenomenal. She had a nice way of talking and settling. And the way she conducted herself was soothing, accommodating, and professional. I loved my experience with her. All in all, I've been with AHS for three years now and they've been good. I used to belong to another company but I didn't like my experience with them so I changed to American Home Shield. And so far, they have been pretty fast. I’m really happy with them and I would recommend them.

When they're scheduled a time, they were right on time, and he took care of the problem that day. I did the claim online. I like it.     The air conditioner stopped working and we made a claim for that through American Home Shield. My wife called them directly. The technician communicated pretty slowly. It took a couple of weeks to get fixed because parts were on approval. He didn’t communicate what was going on with us, so I ended up finding a back way to navigate the whole American Home Shield process to get the answers I wanted. I made calls because I was trying to find out what was going with it, and I couldn’t get ahold of anybody that knew. They would just put me on hold, and I figured out they were calling another number. And so, somebody gave me that number one day, and I started calling that number. But other than that, everything was great. I would recommend American Home shield.

    The washing machine was having a problem. The transmission went out on it and I did the claim over the phone with an American Home Shield agent. The contractor himself did a really good job. It was just very time consuming because the first time he came out, he had to order a part. Then when the parts arrive a week later, he came out to install them, and it broke by the next morning. It was the first time we used it again.

    One of the screws on the agitator broke, and he had to come back to look at it, and then order a part again. So, we were at least three weeks out of a washing machine. We had to go to the washateria quite a few times during that timeframe. But it's been working really good since he got it finally figured out. American Home Shield has a good program, but I didn't like having to pay out of pocket the first time. As soon as we called in, we had to pay our deductible. They said I had to pay it before they issue the service order and send the technician out. It should be taken after a good experience.

    My hot water heater and the heat pump both went out at the same time. My renter said he smelled something was burning. And then, he shut the water heater off. And then at the same time, the heat pump quit cooling, or it wasn’t cooling very good. And then he said the next day, it completely quit working, which was really weird they both happened at once.

    I filed a claim with AHS and the first time the contractor came I was there for a while, and then the people came and I left. The heat pump guy was good. But the hot water guys were just a little different. The renter said something about them being unprofessional and how they were just frustrated with everything about the job because it was hard to do and hard to get to.
