    I call the number on the contract when I submit a claim to American Home Shield. It went very good, except on a weekend. A couple of times I've had issues on a weekend, and it's hard to get anybody. I've had a couple things where I had to be reimbursed because there was miscommunication between the American Home Shield service people, but it was taken care of, and so I'm happy with that.

    The guy from Mr. Rooter Plumbing was really excellent, helpful and professional. He did what he needed to do. He gave me some tips also if something happens later on, what to do and stuff like that. He was pretty nice, so I really recommend this guy. They gave me a problem the first time, they didn’t do it and I had to call them twice or three times. But whenever they came back, they did a good job.

    I had an air conditioning claim before that and what happened was it had rust on it. I know the air conditioning is working, but it’s not cooling enough. I went upstairs and where the connection is was a little bit kinda weak. The guy who came in said it breaks all the way. American Home Shield charged me 100 bucks but the guy didn’t do anything. I told him that I could’ve gotten somebody to do a free estimate. I called AHS and they said that they'd look into it and they'd call me back. I called back three times and nobody answered so that’s the problem with American Home Shield. I'm paying $60 a month and getting breakage maybe once a year and the customer service doesn’t work with you.

    We had a couple of leaky faucets in the bathroom and I filed the claim with AHS late Sunday night. Then I woke up Monday morning about 3 o’clock to start getting ready for work and when I walked into my bathroom, it was flooded. I ran downstairs and the water had dripped through the ceiling and the light fixtures so my kitchen was also flooded.

    At about 9 o’clock that morning AHS called me and said they were sorry as they didn’t have anybody till Thursday who could handle that kind of problem, but they'd see what they could do. Then they called around diligently worked to see if they could squeeze somebody in. They ended up finding somebody to come out to my house and take care of the problem by about 10 o’clock that morning. So, kudos to them. AHS sent out the techs from Ally Plumbing, Inc. and they were great. The overall work was perfect, too. The tech walked me through everything and showed me what possible causes were. He was also very professional, very versed, and knowledgeable in what he was doing.

    American Home Shield sent Shoreside Electric and my claim is complete. It was for a new electric panel - the box on the side of the house because the wires were burnt. The contractor did the work, and everything is going good. I highly recommended him and would like to use him for anything else. He went above and beyond and was helpful and friendly.

    AHS was a gift from the real estate on the purchase of my house last year. I was a little skeptical about it and hesitated on using it until it came down to something where it was gonna cost like $3,000. And I said, " You know what? I can only take the risk."     American Home Shield has been pretty good. I've been with them for four months and I called them for my second claim when my AC wasn't cooling and it had been two weeks. I made my claim online then I talked to a person about it afterwards. The rep was very good. Home Service Corporation was really quick and was here the next day or the day after that. The technician was excellent. He really knew his stuff. He came out and diagnosed the problem. He then had to come back because he had to schedule it for two to four hours of repair time because he had to go somewhere else. He came back a couple of days later and he fixed the AC. He spent the time and explained what he was doing. There was a frozen valve in there and he had to take that all apart, unseal it, and get it working again.

    Timeframe-wise, it was fine. I know sometimes you can't fix it on your first visit out because you have to go get parts and you have to schedule enough time to do it. This second claim happened because of my first claim with American Home Shield. The first one was a furnace issue and when the guy came out, he saw that there was the issue with the air conditioner so he told me to file another claim with the home warranty company and they'll have to come out and fix that.

    I bought an older home and bought the Home Shield policy to cover anything that came up in the first year. But I found out that it didn't cover an icemaker that was separate from a refrigerator. Then, they were calling and asking me if I wanted to renew in September. During that transitional period, my air conditioner went out. I got somebody to look at it and they told me what was wrong. I asked the person who was selling me the policy if they will cover the air conditioning problem. She said they will send people out and that it'll be covered. So I told her that I'll renew my policy. It was an $8,000 repair and I was getting ready to pay $2,000 for my renewal so it seemed like a good deal.

    As it turned out, the repair was gonna run about $3,000 and it wasn't what I wanted to do with my air conditioner. Of the $3,000 AHS was only gonna pay 600 and I had to pay for all the rest so that wasn't a good deal. What irritated me was when I called back to cancel the policy, I got some girl on there who was not helpful and kept questioning and badgering me about canceling the policy. She wouldn't give up. She was going down her spiel and that irritated me. When I told her I need to cancel it, she said she would have somebody call me back within 24 hours but I never heard from anybody. I called them back and the lady that I talked to the second time was better. But she was trying to ask me why I was canceling and wanted to know what the work was. Although I'm not mad, I felt it was misrepresented to me what the policy covered. Then they couldn't respect me when I wanted to end the policy.

    A couple of my sinks were corroded and I couldn’t undo it ‘cause we have really hard water here. Mitchell’s Plumbing came over instantly, diagnosed it, and was back within the hour to replace a little part. They were very professional, courteous, and asked me if I had any other questions.     I filed a claim online with Home Shield for the dryer. It wasn't starting. Somebody contacted me the next day, and it took a couple of days to get him to come because of my schedule. The contractor was able to come sooner but I wasn’t available. It was a scheduling issue, and I was the problem. But the tech was really great. He came on a Friday and determined that it was the part in the door. When you close the door, that part was making it not start. And he didn’t have the part so he was gonna have to order it. He ordered it and the part was in on Tuesday, but because of me, he wasn’t able to get to me until Thursday. Once he was able to come, he was done with it in about 20 or 30 minutes. I also had another request with Home Shield for rekeying the lock. And every time I had a request with Home Shield, it’s been a great experience.

    Home Shield’s website is great and easy to navigate through. I went on there to submit a claim and I was given an expectation of hearing something back within 24 hours. I asked Air Technical to come out and they were very timely. The technician is a great person and very professional. He was able to find what the problem was and determined that it was covered. The unit had a wire that was stuck around the fan, which is the reason why it was overheating and not working and extremely loud. So, the repair has helped out tremendously in the operations in the home and the second floor has air again.

    We are still in the process of figuring out what else we need to do with the HVAC stuff, and the contractor AHS sent, Island Breeze, have been really helpful. They've done pretty good. But we had an issue with the contract renewal with AHS. We were under the impression that when you sign a contract with them, you are in that contract for a year.

    We were about to move back into the house. The time frame when the contract was supposed to be renewed was May. We weren't gonna be in the house until July. And so, we said, "Well, we're not gonna renew it, necessarily." We found out later that it doesn't matter. You can just cancel it whenever you want but it was a huge pain. Have we known that, we would have not wanted to cancel it. It was very poor communication on their end when it came to dealing with that. Our whole thing was canceled. I think part of that was because the person we were talking to didn't understand how the process worked. It essentially caused us to have a one month gap in coverage and then we had to essentially redo the whole thing to get a new plan. But we're fine now. We got it resolved. I continue to recommend AHS to other people.

    Filing claims with AHS is easier when done online because sometimes the guys I talk to seem like they’re in India or somewhere. However, it seems like the claim gets processed quicker when calling. When the kitchen faucet's spray thing wasn’t spraying, AHS helped to replace the kitchen faucet with a new one. That’s working great. Right now, one of my furnaces needs to be replaced. The contractor said the firebox got a crack in it and it can’t be repaired, so it has to be replaced. They're now waiting for the approval. I am satisfied with American Home Shield's service.

    Placed work order in June. They keep sending unqualified technicians to fix AC ductwork. Problem was never fixed, nothing has been done (not even a screw touched). Had to spend entire summer in terrible heat. Now AHS keeps sending me a bill for $100 even though they accepted to absorb the fee several times. And still, the problem remains. This is a joke. Stay away at all costs.

    Had an American Home Shield contractor come out on 9/18 due to a.c. not cooling. The owner of the a.c. company said we needed a complete new system and that American Home Shield would not pay for it. He then quoted me $9500.00 for a new unit and charged $500.00 to add Freon for the system to get us through through a couple of days. I called American Home Shield on 9/21 and was told the contractor had not sent in the detailed work order required to determine coverage. I told the representative that I had a quote from another company for $7450.00 for the same unit quoted at $9500.00. I received a message from AHS on 9/23 stating they had contacted the contractor that morning to request documentation.

    I called AHS on 9/27 and they still had not received the detailed work order from contractor. I was forced to pay out of pocket for a new unit due to contractor delay in turning in paperwork, which he probably didn't do because he told me AHS was not responsible and he had already quoted me foe a new unit. AHS customer service refuses to discuss a cash reimbursement in this matter which my contract states they have an option to do. The unfortunate thing is we have had AHS since we built our house in 1998. Not good customer service. I give them 1 star on this because it is required.

    AHS sent incompetent technician, suggest to replace my $4500 oven with $3000 one, charge $75 fee, left me with broken oven and marked the case completed. It's a material breach of the contract, bordering on fraud. I invite independent service provider and an issue was fixed. If you want to pay $700/year for privilege to pay $75 and nothing fixed go for them.

    What do you call a chaotic, unprofessional disorganization with no customer service abilities of any kind and a poor track record when it comes to providing properly vetted, skilled or simply adequate service professionals? I know them as American Home Shield (AHS). Why do I say this about AHS? My opinion of them has changed drastically over time. When I first entered into contract with AHS, they were relatively good, providing a stream of quality field workers to address a variety of household issues. However, slowly over time, I not only noticed a drop in the quality of these field agents and their respective companies but also a decline in customer service dexterity and outreach from AHS as well.

    I have a growing list of companies that I informed AHS not to send to my home again due to shoddy work, unreliability or just sheer incompetence on their part. It's to the point now where I am wondering if AHS vets these companies at all. Due to my experiences, I am of the opinion that they don't really check. I mean, can anyone with a truck and a tool box be a service provider for AHS, I wonder. When AHS chooses to use subcontractors of this type, that's what they are exposing you to.

    My latest case involves my intermittent refrigerator leak which occurred at unpredictable times over an indeterminate number of days. To reduce the amount of evidentiary wood damage from the leaks, I shut off the water. American Home Shield selected Amtec to handle the evaluation and repair. I explained all of this to the field technician during the visit. The tech replied, "I'm just going to replace everything in the ice-maker." I asked, wouldn't a better approach be to find the cause of the leak? He said, "rather than trying to find out what was wrong, it's easier to replace everything." I then asked, what happens if it starts leaking again? He assured me that it wouldn't.

    Well, a few days later, the refrigerator began leaking and actually damaged my wooden kitchen floor. When I called AHS, the representative informed me that Amtec was going to send a "senior technician who would assess the damage" and respond appropriately. That was the spin, crafted and designed to get me off the phone. The reality was that this so-called "senior tech" turned out to be the same guy who missed the cause of the leak roughly 10 days ago during his first visit. He almost missed it again this time too because he spent about 6 minutes trying to convince me that the fridge was not leaking. Of course, evidence of a leak was on the flooring all around the refrigerator. The tech was about to leave as I was further explaining things to him but then decided to check again finally locating the problem. Of course, it was the refrigerator, duh.

    When I began discussing the floor damage, with this tech, he stated, and these are his own words, "I don't know anything about that, or being a senior technician, I just fix things." Over the last couple years, I can't tell you the number of times I have substandard, penny ante operators stop by here to fix something only to leave me disappointed by some aspect of their visit ranging from an incomplete or botched job to charging a fee when none was warranted. As this relates to or reflects on AHS, I have noticed that even the simple act of trying to reach them by phone can be an exercise in futility. The phone just rings and rings.

    One time, I had to go online to request that service visit. All I can say is that if you are considering AHS, I'd strongly advice against it. In this competitive economy, there are more than a few alternatives. With a little bit of research and due diligence I am sure you can do better than AHS. If you don't you run the risk of being exposed to some substandard subcontractor with the potential to make your situation a whole lot worse than it was before their visit. Take it from someone who's been there. My advice for everyone is to go online, do your research, and take the reviews of such referring organizations into account before signing up and subsequently allowing them to sent some substandard subcontractor into your home who may make matters worse.

    I have two properties with American Home Shield, the home that I live in and a rental property. I've used them for my home, and it was very good. When I called in a claim for the AC, it was better than I expected. The contractor was very professional. They were very thorough, and very pleasant. They did what they had to do. They also gave me an update as to what was going on. The tech had to put a part in, but I understand from American Home Shield advertisement that if a part is needed, I wouldn't be charged. But everything went very well. I was very pleased.

    I put in a claim online when our water heater wasn't working. My husband was home when the contractor came and everything went fine. They came when they said they were going to. My husband was satisfied with their customer service. The water heater needed to be replaced. So, they were out on a Saturday, and they got approval and replaced it on Monday. It was fairly quick.

    I've had AHS for about five years and the only thing that they did that I wasn't overly satisfied was when we had issues with our air conditioner a couple of years in a row, and they replaced our thermostat and didn't give us the same quality. They gave us something cheaper than what we had, and that wasn't programmable. And it didn't fit and from where we painted, there's a white spot around them. I wasn't home when this was done. My husband was home but he didn't noticed it.

    We've been pretty fortunate with Home Shield since we started having them in 2010. They seem to work pretty well for us and they've replaced a lot of things that needed to be replaced. Recently, we had Riverside Heating and Air conditioning and they actually did an okay job. They called and said they would be here a certain time and the technician came within that window. When submitting claims, doing it online is really good. When we call though, we have to wait 20 minutes on the phone. Also, I hope the price can be a little less expensive. Still, I would recommend Home Shield.

    The inspection came up with something about a stool downstairs, so the inspector said something had to be done. I was kinda hoping to just get rid of the stool, but my renters wanted to keep it and wanted it repaired, so they had to take it out and redo the whole thing, and the backflow. It’s all done and taken care of. Everything has been good with American Home Shield. I’m closing on the house on the 10th of October, and the inspector said everything’s fine.

    Arctic Air Service and Maintenance was sent by American Home Shield to service the air conditioner that wasn’t working. It was blowing just hot air. The contractor was awesome. He explained everything that he was doing. He even showed me what the part was that went bad and why it went bad. And within a couple minutes, we were up and going. I called AHS to submit my claim. The first time, it was through automated prompts, and I called back, and I spoke to a person. That was a Friday and they told me they could get to me on Saturday, but then they called back and said they could get to me Friday evening. So, they exploded the expectations. American Home Shield is truly a blessing.

    I have AHS for three years here and almost three years back in Atlanta at a different property. So far, things have been pretty good. Recently, I called in and submitted tickets for the compressor fan that wasn't running, and they came out and swapped out the start capacitor for the fan. I was told the contractors were to come between 9:00 to 12:00 and they came on time. I also don't really like websites to begin with, but as American Home Shield's website goes, it was accessible. It's a good idea to have American Home Shield.

    I had a problem with my AC unit. AHS later sent Cecil and Sons and I was very happy with them. The two vendors that AHS sent prior, one was belligerent, and the other one was trying to charge us for things that weren't necessary. It wasn't the matter of repair, it was more trying to determine what was the issue. This claim has been going on for a month and a half.

    I was not pleased with the way that American Home Shield handled it 'cause I had to write letters, called multiple times just to get them to do something that should have been done initially which was a leak test. When the first vendor came out, we had issues with him. He said it needed to be done and I said if a leak test needed to be done, he had to go back to American Home Shield and ask authorization. He got mad. He said that he didn't have to ask from AHS and that he could do it. We had a verbal altercation so that was the end of that. The claim has been going on for a month and a half now and I'm waiting on a follow-up call from Cecil and Sons regarding an upgrade program from American Home Shield.

    I was very glad with TL Services Inc. American Home Shield sent them out after I made a service request for my AC unit. The technician was very knowledgeable and professional. He was a very nice guy and was a gentleman. He checked the unit and everything was fine. We've been with American Home Shield for six years since we moved to this house. They have an easy claim process. If the issue is a straightforward thing, I'd go online to make a claim. But not if I have my doubts.     Everything went pretty good with my AC unit claim. American Home Shield sent Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning and they were able to resolve the issue. I called AHS to submit my claim, and a gentleman that was overseas, first of all, ran the card that was on file and I told him not to. It was also hard trying to interact with him. So, that wasn’t great to deal with.

    We were having the locks rekeyed from the previous owner and Dan's Pro-Lock did a great job. I made a phone call to AHS to submit the claim and the service representative I spoke with was very pleasant. When she set the appointment, she said that we'd be getting a follow-up phone call on when a contractor would come out 'cause we're out in the country, and we did. The contractor was prompt, came in, got the locks rekeyed, cleaned up after himself, and headed back out. I'd recommend my friends and family to get American Home Shield if they needed the home protection.

    My dryer was clanking quite badly and making a horrible noise. I sent the claim through online to American Home Shield and the contractor took about a week to come out, which was okay. I live about 35 miles and they scheduled me when they came up here, which was on Friday. When the technician got here, he pulled the dryer, looked in and said it was the wheel. He said he had a part with him. He fixed the dryer and cleaned it up a little bit, and I was very satisfied. He was a very polite and nice young man, and the claim went great.

    Precision Door Services came out and it seemed to go well at the beginning. The tech looked at it and sized the garage door up. He put some screws in, tightened up the garage door, and it opened and closed pretty good. But a couple of days later, it worked it's way loose or something. It got back to the way it was when I called and it's pushing up the lever there. Some sort of torque being applied that makes it kinda come loose and there's a huge clunk when the door opens. I notified Precision and they said I would have to call the warranty so I did and AHS said to go ahead and make an appointment with Precision. The tech is coming out again. I've been with AHS for almost a year now and I will be renewing with them.

    Both my washing machine and dryer had problems that I didn't even know and it had gotten worse. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and the online process was great and very easy. Everything went smooth and I was so appreciative. The contractor who came out was professional, did excellent service, knew exactly what was needed, and did the job quickly. He has expertise and I was well pleased.

    We had to order a part for the dryer. We were in the process of ordering parts for the washer as well but they did not have the part that we needed for the washing machine as it was discontinued. The washer had to be repaired 'cause there was rust falling into the washing machine as the clothes washed. But the contractor deemed it to be replaced 'cause it was unsafe. American Home Shield made it very easy to choose something similar to what I had, which was fine with me as I just need clean clothes. And it was awesome that I was able to go through that. Now, the washer is on its way and I was very well pleased with that too.

    Our refrigerator stopped cooling and I submitted the claim online to American Home Shield. It took about three days for the first people to come out. One of them said that they suspected that the Freon leaked out of it and they don't do anything with Freon. So, they contacted another company. The next people made an appointment for the following week. In the meantime, we had to buy a lot of ice for the ice chest and borrow a refrigerator. It was a pain in the rear end. Then, the technicians weren’t able to repair it. This was the fifth time that somebody had to come out for that refrigerator. It wasn’t repairable before and it was kind of pieced together. So, I got really frustrated and I replaced all my appliances. I got a refrigerator, a stove, a microwave and a dishwasher. I'm satisfied now that it's finally done, but it was very frustrating. American Home Shield was pretty good but their vendors were a little suspect in the process.

    I’m a service member and I was gone for two months. My wife had a lot of issues and one was a leaking pipe. This happened all in August and my wife went out the house for almost a month. I just got back a few days ago and so I got on the phone with American Home Shield to discuss getting plumbers out. After talking to an agent, I was transferred to a Spanish line and the agent was talking to me in Spanish. I had no clue what she was saying.     We had a stoppage where water and feces were coming up in the bathtubs and the toilet, and water was coming out from underneath the toilet all over the floor. I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone. Their reps were very helpful. It happened on a Friday, so we had the weekend but they were very good about getting somebody out here just as soon as they could get a hold of them. They even offered to reimburse me if I could find somebody before they did. Edmundson Mechanical Services came out. They’re a very good company. They also put in my air units, and they were really good about trying to take care of our needs. They came out three different times until they got everything taken care of.     My hot water tank was busted. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Greenway out here to evaluate the situation. They told me that they would replace the hot water tank, and that they would do the work, I just needed $1,000 deductible. I'm trying to work on getting the $1,000 deductible now. The water is running down on my outside until I could get the money. It's running from a pipe outside, down the roof and onto the patio, instead of running upstairs.

    This was the second time that I tried to use American Shield. The first time was my air unit had went out. I have not had an air unit this summer. They did send someone out here and it was the same situation as with the hot water heater. I needed the $700 for the antifreeze, and I didn't have it. American Home Shield was very professional with me. They were understanding and they worked quickly. In fact, I made the call one day and the person was here the next day. The contractors that they sent out were professional. But I wish there was a claim that they didn't charge you with a deductible.

    Our AC unit needed Freon and because it was an old unit, it was gonna cost us $1,000 to have the Freon replaced. We didn't wanna pay and invest $1,000 in a unit that’s 15 years old, with no guarantee. It could have the same problem in six months, so we wanted to get it replaced. And to replace it, we only wound up with a $500 cash-in-lieu. It was repairable in AHS's eyes but not replaceable. But to us, it really wasn't repairable. We paid $4,000 to have it replaced. So that wasn't a great experience.

    In contrast, we did have a claim for a range and it was a great experience. A couple of the burners on the top were not turning on. The tech came out the same day we submitted the claim. He showed up when he said he was gonna be there. He did the service and followed up with us. The parts weren't available so AHS replaced the whole unit with a comparable unit, and we got a brand new stove. We'd definitely recommend AHS.

    I had a stoppage in my condensation drain on my AC in the house and the water was backing up in the drain area. When I filed the claim online, I had to play a little bit with their website to file my specific need. I just put it on the plumbing or AC since I didn’t know which one will do. The contractor that came was decent and went right into it. I showed him what I needed to have looked at. He explained and gave me some pointers on how to prevent that from happening again like putting bleach in the drain to keep it clean and smooth. With the weather being warm here earlier, the AC unit was running almost 24-7 which caused the problem. It hadn’t been snaked in about three years.     I just moved in June and I’ve been with American Home Shield since then. But then I was with them at my previous address too for four years. They're really fast when you call the number. It is all automated. But you usually have an appointment within a day or two. They just get back to you right away to have your appliance fixed. Appliance Solutions came out last Friday and the tech was super nice. He was in there for about 30 seconds. He said it was the pan underneath the refrigerator that was making the vibrating noise, and he fixed it temporarily. And then on Saturday the fridge was making that noise again, so I contacted them. They're coming out next week. I wasn’t available today when they were in the area. But they were great.

    GE Appliances came out and serviced the washing machine. It was leaking and making very loud noises, and it would not spin. Sometimes, it would not shift gears. I called that claim in to AHS and they were very helpful. It was great. But the timeframe for when we could expect the contractor to come out was somewhat delayed because they were smashed. It was like a week. That aside, the contractor was great. They did what they had to do. They diagnosed the problem, said it completely had to be rebuilt and ordered the parts. Then somebody else came back and rebuilt it. The washing machine has been functioning perfectly after the repair. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield overall.

    I had leaky parts in the basement and a bad shutoff valve on one of my water lines. I filed the claim to American Home Shield over the phone and the rep was kinda slow. We had a problem understanding each other. It sounded foreign and seemed to take a lot longer than I thought, but we got through it. Wind Bender Mechanical Services came out. We had them come to our house before for another problem we had a while back. The guy was really nice and knowledgeable. He came in, took pictures of the problem, told me he'd get back with me when they would send in the pictures and make sure everything was authorized so they could send out and get the parts. Then they got back with me to schedule and came in and put the parts in. It's been doing great.

    Whenever it's completed, I realize we had another problem that they could have dealt with. Right by where the guy stopped the leak, the shutoff valve leaks outside a little. I know the outside's not covered, but I can't get to close the shutoff valve inside that shuts off the water to the outside spigot, it still drips a little bit outside. It's too late and I'm not gonna put in another claim for one of them.

    Dawson Services came out for my recent claim. They have done a couple of calls for me and they're really good. It's just that I don't like the services of American Home Shield now. They’ve vendored it out overseas. It's absolute frustration when calling. Number one, the lines are not really clear. Number two, I’m a little bit hard of hearing and most of them have very thick accents. It takes 15 minutes to get transferred over to the States and talk to someone. I'm totally unsatisfied with dealing with the people overseas because it’s nothing but a nightmare. I realized that all companies are doing it, but customer service is a dead issue with the executives. I’ve never had any trouble before they vendored that out. It’s the outsource that has shot American Home Shield's customer service to hell.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for 8 years and called for several homes because I lease some of them out. I have had mixed feelings about them because sometimes I get contractors that are really, really good and do what they have to do and get things done. And then I have those that I’ve questioned because they keep on coming out here and the AC keeps on giving up on me. They just tell me, “Well, if we have the part and we can get it running, then that’s what we do.” But then a couple of months later, I’m in the same boat, having to call.     With American Home Shield, I like not getting a giant bill when something breaks. I have a deductible, and I pay the premiums, but it offers some expense stability. So, I like that feature of home warranties in general. I realized quite a few years ago that when we had an appliance replaced, AHS is paying a lot less for those appliances than I was paying. So, it occurred to me that unlike people will say of insurance companies is that I could actually save money, and AHS could actually make some money at the same time because they're paying less for the services since they're bundling volume through the service provider. And especially that I have two homes now with a home warranty. I don’t live in the other home, and I don’t have time to deal with it. So, when something breaks, I have one number to call, they’ll send somebody out and I don’t have to have a guy that does everything or have 10 guys to get everything done.

    So, to me, it offers some measure of convenience, and I feel that I’ve more or less gotten good value out of it over the years especially on our old house where we’re not really looking to upgrade appliances. We’re renting it. I’m not gonna put in something super fancy that orders milk for me from the fridge or whatever when I take it out. I’m not gonna buy any top-end stuff. So, what AHS offers as a basic replacement model is what I would buy. In that case, it works out really well. I just like having some stability, so I don’t get stuck with, “Oh, this broke. Here’s a giant bill.” When we went without a warranty for a while, I’ve had service providers just blatantly try to rip me off, and I didn’t care for that.

    The only thing is it takes a really long time to get ahold of somebody at the claims department, even with a callback. And I told the AHS guy, “So, I signed up for give me a callback when you’re ready to talk so I don’t have to be on hold.” The system called me back right away, and then left me on hold for 40 minutes twice. Someone wasn’t really there to call me back, which is kinda the point of getting a callback.

    There was water leaking all over the floor at the bottom of the water heater and there was no moisture coming out the pressure valve. The interaction with the contractor was excellent and they replaced the water heater. Since then, there has been no leaks and it’s great. But when we signed the paperwork with American Home Shield, I didn’t realize that as soon as I made a claim, it was gonna cost me another $75. So, I was a little disappointed in that. Either I missed it in the paperwork or the Realtor didn’t explain it to me at the time of purchase.

    My experience with AHS contractor, Pride A/C & Heating, was extremely positive. The gentleman that came out diagnosed the issue quickly. A board went bad and he did a temporary fix. They got the board and the tech came back in a couple of days. We were out of AC for about three days. It was a little warm here in our neck of the woods. But the experience was very good. I've been with AHS for a few years now and their reps have been very professional and helpful. So far, AHS has been very flexible. They've covered most of the things that we've had issues with.     There was a problem with my thermostat and because I wasn’t sure if it was a covered benefit, I ended up doing the claim over the phone.     I put in the request American Home Shield online and it was easy. However, there needs to be a little bit of a description box. For example, ours was a pool pump but there are several different pumps. It would be very helpful to have a description box in AHS online submittal. Alex Pool Services came out and it went great. There were a couple of claims that I had filed regarding their work and I needed to follow up with AHS on one because AHS denied one claim. They said that there was rodent damage but there was actually none. There was also a bit of a communication issue, but they were right there with evidence that rodents were not the cause of the corrosion. They had a quick follow up and it was all taken care of.

    I have an oven that has been in need of repair for over two months. The contracted company came out on three occasions with parts that were ordered and didn't work. He said AHS would contact me for the next step. I have had to contact AHS on each turn and was even hung up upon in the last phone call. When I asked to speak to a supervisor or someone who could help me answer my questions, I was told that there is no one that can help me.     I have had AHS for some time now. Every time I put in a service request it is a battle. I requested service a month ago and still have not gotten anywhere. I was assigned another contractor and the notes say "unable to contact you", well I never got a call or email from the contractor. This is the 3rd time I have requested a repair and 3 times that I just end up canceling my request because they have nobody to come out or it is a huge hassle to get anywhere with these people. I am cancelling my plan and looking into another company.

    We switched from 2-10 to American Home Shield and we have had nothing but bad experiences with AHS. Last year, it took AHS six months to fix an air conditioning problem because they refused to accept the contractor they chose did not know how to do their jobs. They misdiagnosed the problem several times and finally got the problem fixed after nearly an entire summer of no air conditioning. And we live in GA. It was not comfortable. This year, same issue. The contractor misdiagnosed the problem. Charged us for Freon we did not need in the wrong system. We are currently going through a situation involving a refrigerator. One that is only two years old and one that they themselves installed. Apparently, the lines were not hooked up right which caused a slow leak; of once again, Freon. We will have to pay for that Freon. We are in week two, still no refrigerator.

    The first technician was not certified to do a test, a test they had to call AHS to get permission to perform. It will be a week until the next appointment. Once this problem is solved, I will be ditching AHS and going with another company. They do not do their jobs and any money you pay them means nothing if you have to pay for every little thing the company does to you. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

    I called asking for an address of where I can send a check for a Home Warranty Product. I needed an overnight address because I only have access to FedEx and not to regular mail. I had to speak to several people and was on hold for over 45 minutes and they kept insisting they didn't have an address besides a PO Box. I explained that I can't send to a PO Box and they insisted that was all they had. It seems they didn't understand why I was required to send the check via FedEx (because I need to be able to track check) - and although I explained why I was calling and why I needed to send the check via FedEx, no one could help me.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Our family has been without use of our microwave for over 6 weeks. AHS has sent techs to work on it multiple times, and now that the tech has determined that it needs the most expensive part replaced or needs to be replaced entirely, AHS is claiming that the microwave isn't covered. Besides the fact that the entire process has taken WAY too long, my husband has missed time from work to meet with techs and has had to initiate follow up calls. When they all the sudden decided the microwave wasn't covered, did anyone call to update us? NO!! WE HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER A WEEK FROM THE LAST TECH VISIT! My husband called to see what was the hold up and was told they won't be covering it. No supervisor is available to discuss this either. Don't waste your time or money.     We've had our American Home Shield coverage on this particular home since June when we closed. We've used American Home Shield in the past though. Our most recent claim was on the AC. Quality Services came out for it and they were okay. Nothing was poor in regards to the service that we got. When I spoke with one gentleman, he was very abrupt. The second gentleman that came out kind of explained to me what the problem was and told me what he was gonna do, which were fantastic. But, all of a sudden, I get a call saying, "Okay, we're ready to install stuff in your house." I didn't know they were coming out to install things.

    They said they were gonna turn things in and see what was up. Also, they didn't tell me it was gonna cost me $1,200. Nobody told me what it was gonna cost me until I said, "Well, is this gonna cost me anything?" The rep said it's $2,500, and I went, "Time out." The system is technically fine. And in all fairness, they were very prompt, very on top of things, and I didn't have to wait. So in that regard, they were great. Our experience has been pretty much smooth sailing.

    Our AC unit was not working. Reep’s Air and Refrigeration came out last year to check it, and added Freon to it. But that didn’t fix the problem. The Freon was leaking out. At that time, we really didn’t have the money to get a new unit and American Home Shield only paid $1,500. I thought they would pay more, but I had to pay out of pocket. Also, we’ve only had the AHS home warranty last year, but the initial monthly cost went up $10 on me.

    We just saved enough and now, we got a new unit. Reep's got it replaced in the first visit. But the rep came back the next day and blew some lines out. He said it was a preventative thing because there were already lines there. He just wanted to make sure there weren’t any trash on anything in the line. With how air conditioner works, it pulls air one way for air and the other way for heat. So, before I can use my heat, they’re gonna have to come back and reverse that. We got a cool house now.

    The electrician came and changed the breaker from a 20-amp breaker to a 30, and then, 7-H came out and repaired the dryer, and it has worked perfectly ever since. They did two visits. So, they came out, figured it out what was what and ordered the part. They came back and installed the part. It took a couple days.     I had a callback on September 6 for a claim that I filed through American Home Shield and AAA All Brands Appliance came out. The gentleman informed me that there was a leak on the unit outside and he replaced the teeny tiny valve that's probably no bigger than a dime, and he put 3 pounds of Freon in it then said I was fine. I have two units and this and it's the upstairs unit. The same upstairs unit that was not cooling back on September 6 was not cooling again. AAA All Brands came out again because it was within 30 days and the technician informed me that the coil inside the air handler inside the house had three leaks in it. I'm guessing that those three leaks did not happen in 18 days. He was supposedly going to file a report with American Home Shield probably Wednesday because it was 4:30 when he left my house on Wednesday.

    I called American Home Shield today and they informed me that AAA All Brands had not filed the report with them yet and that they would not authorize the repair until they got that report back. I've been trying all day today to contact AAA All Brands. I talked to someone this morning. She said that the dispatch had sent the report. But I said no they did not because I just talked to American Home Shield and they didn't have it. She proceeded to tell me that they will try again later this afternoon. I told her that wasn't acceptable because it's currently 82 degrees in my upstairs in my house. It's been that way all week. At this rate, it's gonna be another week before the part gets ordered and installed.

    American Home Shield still doesn't have the report and I don't know how to get the report to them because I can't get a hold of the company because conveniently, their phones are down now. Needless to say that I'm a little upset is an understatement. I'm pretty sure if he would have checked inside on the 6th, we wouldn't be in this position today. American Home Shield can't help it and I don't have a problem with them because I know that there's a process. They can't do that process if their vendor doesn't give them the stuff that they need to do that process with. I'm a little ticked off at the vendor.

    My husband will be home today from being out of town all week and he won't have it. All of our bedrooms are upstairs. I live in Orlando. It's 80 something. Thankfully, it is cooling down here at night so that the unit isn't running all night long. It's trying to keep up and it does shut off eventually. My husband said we just have the vendor get the part. But I told him that was not the point. They can't get the part because American Home Shield has to order the part. They can't order the part without getting a report from the vendor. I called the number for AAA All Brands and it's rolling to their Coral Springs, Florida office. The girl that answered the phone was nice enough to send an email to the Orlando office to let them know that I needed that report filed in order for them to finish the claim. I'm hoping that her email is getting addressed.

    This is the third time that AAA All Brands had been to my house so they know the deal and they know how it works. But I can't get anywhere because one says they send it and the other one says they don't have it. I can't find out and I'm just at my wit's end for the day. It's rolling into the weekend so nothing can happen this weekend. The claim is still open claim with American Home Shield.

    The refrigerator wasn’t working and at first, I tried filing a claim online with AHS. But I was not familiar with the online process, so I called them. Then I went back online. They assigned A&R Appliance Repair to my claim and told me that the contractor would be out in five days. Then, we had a first tech who came down and he was a younger guy. Then, the second guy who came out said that he normally is the guy who comes out but he was on vacation at the time. So he was the one who came on the second and third visit. He had to order some more parts because the first tech didn’t and he was really nice. He was also professional and very personable. I liked him and I would call him again. A guy came out, lickety-split, and said, “Put a condenser in.” Then said, “Okay, you’re good to go.” But then, the next day, it was the same thing so we called American Home Shield again and they sent out the same company again.     I filed a claim to AHS because the panel on the microwave stopped working, so I was not able to use it. I submitted the claim online and the process was very simple. The contractor that came was efficient. I put the request in on a Friday, he was here on Monday, and it was all five minutes he determined that the part was no longer available, and so he recommended a replacement, not a repair. I ended up calling AHS to get an update on the claim, and we talked through the process and the rep recommended some options. I was also doing my research on the side, and then I was able to quickly pick my option and the process to get the microwave very fast. They sent a whole new microwave and the contractors installed it and that was also a very efficient process.

    It ended up working out, but with American Home Shield and GE, I've had this issue before. I put the claim with American Home Shield, and then I had to wait for GE to call me back. So, GE called me back and then they were like, “Hey, we have somebody coming on on Monday.” There was like some dead space between American Home Shield and GE. So, it's probably more on GE than American Home Shield, but maybe AHS should set some expectations upfront, like, “Someone from GE will be in contact with you.”

    American Home Shield has been pretty fair. There were two incidents over all these years. One was the sump pump, and they didn’t replace or fix it because the water from the air conditioner drips in it. And if the water from the air conditioner drips in it then they won’t really service it or won’t change it. And the other incident was the garage door. Boy, oh, boy. They cover one part of it but not the other. But the door can open without the opener. I think what they cover is maybe the door itself, not actually the actual device, or vice versa. I can’t remember now. But I remember I was disappointed in that, but still. Those were the only two. Everything else is just great.

    The gentleman from ATR General that came was polite and knew what he was doing. He tried to fix it first and then he saw that it could not be fixed. I just went and got another one, then he put it in. He’s good and seemed to be a decent guy. I felt comfortable with him in here by myself. Otherwise, some of them I do, some I don’t. But the guy was a very nice young man, very polite and very professional, all about what he was supposed to do. That’s all I asked for.

    The icemaker wasn’t making ice. I spoke with representatives at AHS to file a claim and they were horrendous. They were from another country, they didn’t understand and I didn’t like dealing with them. But the contractor who came out was good. He came three times, though it wasn’t his fault. When he came, he had the part that he thought he needed to resolve the problem, but it turned out that the icemaker still wasn’t making ice. So we had to call them again. Things didn't go smoothly, but that was fine and the icemaker has been working since the service.

    We also had an experience with the washer and dryer. The washing machine would stop at increments or seven minutes. But normally, it would stop at 28 minutes. It would get stuck there for 10 or 15 minutes and would just keep going back and forth, but it would not move past that. So, we called someone and he came and said that that was normal. But I didn’t believe that was normal because a 45 minute wash cycle shouldn’t take an hour and a half. Unfortunately, I had to accept that at that time.

    Then a few weeks later, it happened again and he came back. He again said that it was normal for this kind of washing machine. At the time, I had a contact person for a little while. I called them and they sent out an independent person who didn’t know why they were coming out again. And I had the same problem but no one was willing to fix it. They were never gonna order a new motherboard or something because it’s all electronic and computerized But lo and behold, I had to buy a new washer and dryer and AHS only gave me $200. I have no idea how they arrived at that but that’s not my area of expertise and I didn’t know how to argue. But I spent almost 1,600 for a new washer and dryer. Other than that, we had a problem as well with the air conditioning and they didn’t call us back until five days later.

    We had American Home Shield years ago and then we moved into this house and we also got the warranty. Their people were really nice but we have some issues because United Air Temp didn't find the gas leak. The company that we've been dealing with that installed an air conditioning unit is Snell and they had electronic sniffers. They could still smell the gas and they know where it's coming from. But United couldn't find it. And apparently, the United tech patched up where the leak was with some paste, and Snell told me that it was not a good way to fix it and it is really dangerous. The guy from United seemed like he was a nice guy and he seemed to know what he was talking about. But putting a little bit of soapy water in the valve is a safety issue. We don’t need our house blowing up.

    Snell sent out two technicians to check this out because they also wanna check on their own people to make sure they're not doing anything erroneous. But they said they could smell the gas and the other company couldn't even smell it. Let alone have the electronic gear. The first company couldn't even come out for a day or two, and then another company, we’re waiting for somebody. I'm not thrilled with this because when we come back next Tuesday, we've got company coming in on Thursday. They're staying in the bedroom in our basement, which is where that heating unit is.

    We’ve been in communication with American Home Shield, but it’s just not happening. It’s really cumbersome and there isn't a lot of flexibility. It’s really an inconvenience and having another company, a third company, come out again. And we don’t know who this company is. I was looking at the reviews of this company that’s coming out and they're kinda really mixed. We’d rather go through the company we’re dealing with. They're well-rated and they're stable in our area. Also the fact that they won’t let us just go ahead and do this repair particularly after they provided a visual. And they’ve got a sniffer that lights up when there's gas.

    Rapp’s Heating and AC came out for our plumbing issue. It went perfectly with this claim. The contractor was very professional. Other than putting the little things on their feet like some people do, he came in, I took him to the kitchen, he opened the cabinet, told me what he thought it was, and then, told me that he was gonna run a test and that I could watch the test so I could feel better about it not leaking anymore. He ran the test in front of me then he asked me if I was gonna have the bottom fixed, and I said I was gonna have to. He said it would take a while to dry and that he knows a company that does this, if I wanted his card. I said that would be great.

    I love American Home Shield. I’ve had them for three years. When submitting claims, I prefer to call and actually speak with someone. My interactions with them are always very nice. I’ve never had a person give me an attitude. Even when I called, and I was really upset because something was going on, I’ve never, ever had an issue with them. I recommend them to family and friends. I’ve recommended them to two friends. One of them had AHS for a year, and the other one for a year, but they didn't continue it. I’m keeping AHS.     I typically do claims with American Home Shield online and most of the time, it’s straightforward. It gives me a timeframe of when the contractor is gonna contact me. One time, a few years ago, I had some issues with the website but now it’s fine. I’ve had Lake Plumbing out a few times and my interaction with them is excellent every time. I've had them out to unclog an upstairs toilet and fix an underspout under the sink. This time, it wasn’t a big issue.     This summer, we’ve had air conditioning issues with two separate properties, and both experiences have been horrific trying to get it repaired. AHS techs did not do a full diagnostic when they got here. AHS would send out the tech and would say, “And it might be something simple, like your capacitor’s low on voltage.” So, they'd replace the capacitor, they'd say it’s up and running, and they'd leave. And our tenants would come home and the air conditioner would not be working. So, there might be multiple issues that we just don’t know about. We’ve had technicians that have come out to one of our properties five times. They'd fix one thing, and if that starts the engine running, they'd just go on.

    Each property owner is individual, so it is totally up to them whether they'd get a home warranty that we use, or if they would like to use our maintenance guys. With AHS, I can go online and place a maintenance request, which is very convenient. I keep a credit card just to use for that, so I’ve got the billing on-site. And then they usually let us know if there’s Freon involved that we have to pay extra for. But this summer, it’s like a hundred calls to get one thing done. I’m very dissatisfied, because we’ve just gone through our busy season and we’ve gotten beaten up using American Home Shield.

    My furnace was not working and the online process of submitting the claim was great. ACI Northwest came out after a couple of weeks and they didn’t do anything. I was not happy with them at all. They told me I needed to call an electrician but it turned out I didn’t need an electrician. The furnace guy just didn’t know what he was doing. The electrician guy fixed it. It was just a switch, but I ended up paying $225 to have them come out when the furnace guys should’ve fixed it. And I had to wait another two weeks for the electrician. But it was not American Home Shield’s fault at all.

    American Home Shield has a call center in another country, which is fine, but my wife and I are hard of hearing, and it was kinda hard for us. They have a certain tone that we don’t hear that well. I found a more direct number and got ahold of a representative that I could understand better. The first contractor that came out for the air conditioner didn't have the tools and AHS called out somebody else. The second people, Efficient Air, diagnosed it right away. They said they had to go through AHS in order to get the part because it was a blower motor. It wasn’t an easy fix. It involved a part that they had to order and once that got going, it was all right. They put in a new motor so the air conditioner is working. They answered all my questions and they explained things. I was happy with them.

    Getting used to the process, I thought if your air conditioner went out and you were dealing with a 90-degree weather, AHS would have expedited it. I found out that they don’t do that but they did a good job once they understood everything and did it. The only question I have for AHS is if I can request a more preferred contractor. There are people who are better starting out and there are people that are smaller. Efficient Air was a lot more equipped than the first contractor. That woulda cut three days off of not having an air conditioner.

    I’m so happy I have American Home Shield. I called a claim regarding the door of the refrigerator and the representative was very expeditious. They sent someone out very fast. It took the contractor two days to come out. I had to make sure somebody was home. Since the repair, the door is working perfectly. Before, I couldn’t stop the ding in the door of the refrigerator. It kept opening and would ding. And for some reason, the bottom door has stopped shutting the right way. American Hi-Tech Appliance came out and they were very professional. If you didn’t have the right screw, the contractor provided a screw that would fit the right way.

    I've been with American Home Shield for about three months, but I was with their sister company before for 18 years. Before when we had a problem, we never had a problem submitting a claim. We had an appliance issue and that was our recent claim. It went great. Direct Appliance Repair came out, and they were able to resolve the issue. I called and they scheduled an appointment. The tech showed up, he looked at the equipment, found what was wrong with the appliance, and he was able to fix it within less than an hour.

    I went into American Home Shield's customer portal and submitted a service request when the air conditioner stopped working. The contractor called the next day, which was a Saturday. When they came out, they were competent and polite. They were in and out quick. But I had a less than pleasant experience with the last claim that I had. My refrigerator went out and they sent a service technician out relatively quickly, but he determined it was gonna need special-order parts, and it was gonna take several weeks to get the parts and we needed another technician out.

    I went on to the website, and I chatted with somebody about the claim, and asked them if I could just buy new appliance, and then have them reimburse me for whatever they’d pay for repairs. And the person on the chat said that was fine. But when I went and bought the new appliance and submitted it for reimbursement, they denied it because it wasn’t approved. They directed me to whatever their official dispute process was. But they denied it, and I never got any reimbursement for the appliance. But most of the time, American Home Shield was easy to deal with. Everything was fine except for the previous claim.

    On 9/17/19, we filed a service request because our air conditioner was not cooling. We were contacted by a service representative who stated that all of the service contractors were overbooked. They could not assign a contractor to come service our unit. We were given the option to locate a service person on our own to complete the repair. We were told this process requires the service person to assess the problem and call AHS for an authorization prior to doing repairs. We spent time locating someone and meeting them for the appointment. They determined that the compressor would have to be replaced. They provided an estimate of $2585 to replace the compressor.

    We then contacted a second A/C service person who came to assess the problem. He also said the compressor needed replacing. His quote was $2700. We decided to go with the first service person -- Carson A/C. Mr ** attempted to get authorization for several hours on Friday. He kept getting transferred and placed on hold. He had to complete other service calls so gave up that day.

    On Monday, his office manager spent multiple hours calling in, providing information, and trying to get authorization. After jumping through every hoop requested by AHS, she was told that they were denying the authorization and would send someone out for a second opinion. In the meantime, the A/C has been out for a week. We live in Louisiana where temps have reached 95 degrees every day. One whole week of being miserably hot and uncomfortable. How can AHS get a second opinion when they couldn't even assign a contractor a week ago?

    On 9/23/19, we spent several hours on the phone talking to people who blatantly lied to us. We were told by a "supervisor" named Carlee that she was expediting our service request and would email someone to get authorization for Carson A/C to complete our repair. She promised she'd call back with an answer within an hour. We asked for a contact number and she gave us one. She also said she would copy us on the email she sent. We never got an email. Not only did she fail to call us back, the number that she gave us went to an entirely different call center. Lies, lies, and more lies!

    When we called back after an hour, we were told that her call center closed at 11 pm CST and there was no way to contact her. On 9/24/19, my husband called in and was transferred to escalations. They set up an appointment for someone to come give a second opinion on 9/26/2019 between 10am and 2 pm. On 9/26/19, the Total Air technician called just prior to the end of the appointment window to say that he would be late because he decided it was inconvenient for him to drive to our appointment and then return for another. I guess he feels that being without air for two weeks is not inconvenient at all. He stated he might arrive tonight between 7 and 8. I am currently on hold with AHS customer service. I've already been hung up on twice. It should not be this hard to get a company to honor their contract.

    I’m been paying 3 years this insurance! They told me if one of my appliances broke they will give me a new one! This is not true! My dishwasher has a door problem. The company they send supposed to say they can’t fix this cause the parts are not available anymore. They didn’t call me back. They just send me a email saying the case is close! Wtf! You still not fixing my problem! I call 3 times, speak with different people, the last one say they can’t cover my dishwasher cause someone slammed the door and broke!     This is the worst company to ever work with. It took so many calls to get an appointment. When I called, they informed me that my plumbing issue was covered, and immediately took my $100. When they sent someone, they turned around and said that the work is no longer covered. I asked for my deposit back, and it took them so many weeks to do a simple investigation. Thereafter no one contacted me as promised and only to find out that my request was denied. I will never recommend this company to anyone - they don't even deserve one star.

    We had American Home Shield for several years on our original home. Luckily, we never had to use them for anything more than minor home repairs. When we sold our original home and purchased another home our air conditioner stopped working in the hottest summer days in Michigan in July 2019. We were out of state and our 84 year old mother was in the home when this occurred.

    American Home Shield could not get a service provider to our home for over four-days. Thus, we elected to find our new provider and not incur the $75 service fee, pay the service provider up-front with an approved amount and then get reimbursed. Needless to say, American Home Shield has a "loop-hole" for everything so the amount you pay for the warranty will never be covered by the repairs they will approve. I would strongly encourage everyone to not pay for this home warranty and do not see it as any type of benefit when you purchase a home. Melissa **

    American Home Shield sent a company to replace my A/C coil which was still under warranty.The company took the coil on day one and reinstalled it on day 2. The company (Total Air Care; Jacksonville Fla. provided an invoice which states," leaking coil under warranty, replace with new coil") Total Air Care kept the brand new coil and reinstalled the leaking coil back into our unit. AHS did not rectify this even after reporting them to the BBB. I have spent money over time refilling the refrigerant. I asked AHS recently to rectify this after the home inspector found the original issue; because now my home is under contract for sale.

    AHS recently sent another company to make good on the original warranty issue. After the new company sent by AHS (United Air Temp, Jacksonville Fla.) removed the coil and refrigerant, AHS told them to end the work order and left us without air conditioning for almost 2 weeks. All 3 of these companies have a relationship of some sort but do not communicate well with each other or us. 1 star because I had to in order to write this review.

    I have had AHS for 1-1/2 years and up to the last 6 months I was satisfied. I had called for a repair on my dishwasher and Sears was sent...I was given a 2 week appointment so I cancelled the order. It took AHS almost 2 months to credit my account the $125 fee. They kept telling me they had mailed it and finally, got a credit on my card. I was compensated with $125 coupon to use on my next request.

    In July I had request a plumber to replace a kitchen faucet. I checked out the plumber that they were sending and he had a 1 star rating with comments of "don't let this guy in your house, he makes the problem worse. We got another plumber and when I questioned would I get the same kind of faucet she said they can't give you the same quality, just what the contractors get so we cancelled that request and put the kind we wanted in. I had to get a plumber out and used my free coupon but of course they billed me. It only took 3 phone calls and a week to get my credit back. I called today to cancel and was put on hold for over 20 minutes to speak to the cancellation department. She did cancel my service but charged $1.01 for administrative fees. Never again with this company!!!!

    Two months ago I documented a service problem I was having getting my GE gas cook top repaired. The replacement part I needed was on back order and finally arrived after a five month delay. AHS mistakenly believed that the repair had already been successfully completed and, once the part was received and its installation re-scheduled, AHS was requiring that a new work order (and its associated financial deductible) be put in place. I was obviously quite frustrated but I am happy to report that AHS subsequently waived the new fee, their customer representative was quite understanding and my gas range is now properly working once again. Thank you to AHS for your assistance in resolving my service issue.

    In April of this year I contacted AHS regarding the repair of my GE cooktop gas range which was not burning properly. Further, it occasionally left the odor of propane gas in my kitchen. After paying my $125 fee to AHS, AHS sent a repairman to my home to examine the cooktop and he determined that the cooktop had a faulty burner valve which needed to be replaced. The repairman contacted GE to get the part and shortly thereafter I was notified that the part was on back order but would be available in several weeks. A new repair appointment was then scheduled but it had to be subsequently rescheduled because the part still had not come in from GE. This scheduling and subsequent rescheduling then occurred several more times throughout the summer and my range is still not fixed.

    Today I contacted AHS and learned that my repair order has somehow been closed and that if I want AHS to send a repair person out again to address my faulty burner valve that I need to pay another $125 since it is more than 60 days since I submitted my initial claim. I got little sympathy or understanding from the AHS customer representative. At this point I prefer to cancel my policy, get a $125 refund, and will seek a return of the monthly premiums I've been paying to AHS since April of this year. By the way, I never received a response from AHS regarding my two written letters regarding this matter.

    Lastly, since I could actually still smell gas in my kitchen back in April, I had the gas company examine my range and they discovered a leaky and faulty regulator directly below the cooktop which required immediate replacement. I paid for this emergency repair, sought reimbursement from AHS but learned today that my request was officially denied. So much for safety and security. Thank goodness there was no explosion.

The guy from their contracted company Plumb Geniuses was fantastic. He was really very personable and professional. I would give Plumb Geniuses high marks for that call. But that experience aside, I'm always looking for a good value for the dollar. To this point, I've not had a lot of luck getting coverage from American Home Shield.     I like submitting our claims to American Home Shield online. The website is easy to navigate and they would usually say that I would hear from them within 24 hours. This is my fifth claim and we had our dishwasher serviced. The contractor came out and replaced the motor in the dishwasher. I like the gentleman who came out. He told us what detergent was better to use in our dishwasher and things like that that’ll make it run more efficiently. Since he came out, it has been very good. The kids are the ones who do the dishes and they haven’t said anything. The dishes are getting done, so it’s working alright.

    I recommend American Home Shield all the time to everybody, like it’s the very thing to have. I have an associate at work who didn’t even have it, and I told her that she should look into it for her future use.     All Out Appliance Repair came out to fix the microwave. When the guy came, he assessed it and knew what it was right away. The magnetron went bad and it was not heating so he had to order the part. He was there for about five minutes. Once the part came in, he came back out. He took down the microwave because it’s mounted then took it apart, put the new part in and showed me the old part and said everything was done. He did a good job and he made sure that everything was nice and clean when he was working. And then when he left, he cleaned up his stuff. He didn’t make a mess, he had blankets and he just folded those up. He went over with me, showed me, and verified it was working. He explained a few things to me and said if I had any problems just let him know. He fixed it in about 20 minutes and it’s working fine now.

    I’m happy with American Home Shield. I’ve got a house that is actually pretty good, but it’s getting to the point where every once in a while it needs a few things. All things are gonna break sooner or later and everybody they’ve sent has been professional. They’ve come out and we get it done, and we’re good to go. I told them I had a funeral I had to go to that day, so they made the adjustments with the time to be accommodating. And when the contractor called me that he was 45 minutes out, I was just walking out of the funeral and that I’d be home in a few minutes. They worked it out.

    A week after our warranty from American Home Shield became live, the washer broke. They sent out Accord Appliance and when they came in, the washer started working again. So, it’s kinda intermittent problem.     The icemaker of my KitchenAid side-by-side freezer refrigerator had quit making ice. I called American Home Shield and I submitted the claim through the automated call. I spoke with an agent and added a dishwasher to that same call. So he gave me Herley's number and asked me to contact them and I did. Herley was great.

    The tech came out on the 10th of September and told me that he was gonna have parts ordered. He told me it would take about 10 days to 14 days out. I called them on the 24th, and he tried to call through and get through and he had to go back to work, so that ended that. So then I called, and they told me that a reorder had to be done, so that was the reason for the delay. About two or three days later, I had the parts, and they were installed. But my dishwasher still has the same issue. I contacted Herley's and they said that we're gonna have to put in another order for it. But overall, I'm satisfied at this point, and it was a great experience.

    One AC unit wouldn't kick on to cool the upstairs. I did the automation to file the claim then I freaked out that I didn't get to talk to anybody 'cause it was a Saturday or Sunday. I called back and then I got to talk to somebody who was good and said to expect out the contractor the following week.     We had a sump pump, which ejects water from the basement so that my home does not flood, that did not function. So, water collected in the basement when we had a flood. I phoned in a claim and had a good interaction with the claims rep. Then, the contractor from BNK Plumbing came out, took a look, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it. The repair took a couple of hours because the old pump needed to be removed, then he had to find a new pump and put the new pump in. That was a very reasonable time frame and the sump pump is now excellent.

    We also had an electrician out on a different request. Because the reason why the sump pump failed was because of the outlet. So, the electrician came and he did a decent job by successfully repairing the outlet. However, he never checked to see that the breaker was on. All he needed to do was to just check to make sure that there was electricity going to the outlet that he had repaired. In effect, it was the plumber who discovered that the sump would not have worked had not the plumber followed up and found that the electricity was not going to the sump pump. So, it was not a good experience with the electrician but the plumber was a hero. Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield.

    I called American Home Shield for the central air conditioning unit that was not cooling. They sent Salzman's Plumbing & Heating, and they were very friendly. They seemed conscientious. It took a couple of visits to get the unit fixed though. They said they thought they had it fixed, and then it still didn't cool. When they came out, we think we got it, but it still didn't cool. It was a third visit before they got it all fixed. Once they got it done, it has never missed a beat. I would be very happy to use them again. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been very satisfactory.     The AC was set at 74 but the house was at 80 degrees. I called American Home Shield and the representative entertained my idea of getting someone else to look at it other than the initial company who wasn’t able to resolve the issue. So I was glad to hear that. The other company, K&W, was good and on time but I didn't like that they didn't call before they came. They ended up at my door and that needs to be changed. But they got right to work as soon as they got here and did what they needed to do. They explained the problem and they wanted to know why I did not call back the company who came the first time. I told them they had come out twice but my AC was still not working. So then, the K&W technicians went out, found the coils and flushed those. Since then, the AC has been operating much better but the experience was a little frustrating and while the second company was trying to fix the problem, it was very hot in here.

    It’s been quite hot here in Central Texas so our AC unit has been working pretty hard and it was actually freezing up. Ice would develop on the heat pump and the outer shield of it and it quit working. A couple of things happened. Number one was that I needed to turn it off in the blistering heat, and then make sure I continue to run the fan. Then I was told that the unit was freezing up in the attic and not so much the heat pump. And so, it had to thaw out from the top down. After the process he went through, the unit appeared to be leaking some gas. So, he put five pounds worth of fluid in it.

    Technically, it’s working fine now. The last two days has been in the mid-80s, and we’ve had almost 100 days in a row where it’s been in the high 90s. Then today and tomorrow, it’s gonna be considerably warmer. But the big question is, will it hold the refrigerant or not? I’m gonna keep an eye on it. And there’s a good chance that I’ll probably be calling on another claim to have them take a look at it again to see if it’s still leaking refrigerant. ‘Cause that’s gonna be the main culprit. If it continues to leak, then that’s just gonna be an ongoing problem. I don’t think that it’s something that they can fix, at least not short-term anyways with just tightening up a bolt. I think the continued fix on it is to continue to add the refrigerant gas to it unless there’s something that they can fix on the main unit to stop it from leaking gas. But we’re certainly very happy to go into the fall. Hopefully with the cooler temperature, I won’t be using the AC quite as much.

    Overall, I’ve been very pleased with the contractors who have come out. In each case, they did a very good job and were very thorough in terms of how they looked at things. I'm also happy with American Home Shield. When I saw that my one year term was close to coming up in December, I went ahead and renewed after the claim ‘cause I’ve got a pretty good confidence level that I needed to stay on the program. And I felt very comfortable that at some point, our AC unit will get fixed properly.

    All this summer, the AC has been working with no problem and we have it checked twice a year. The contractor came in and cleaned both AC units. After he left, when I was in there, it was getting a little bit hot and I told my daughter that I didn’t think the compressor was working. She said she would check and the contractor came back out. He hadn't turned some switch back on but he got it fixed and he did a good job. The interactions with American Home Shield have been very good and we've always had good dealings with him.     I was having an electrical problem with my pool. The breaker kept on popping and it wouldn’t stay on. I was afraid it was gonna burn out my pumps. The contractor that came did a great job and fixed the problem within the same day. I've been with AHS for five years and the renewal was supposed to be automatic but it slipped by me last year and I didn't know why it just didn't continue. I assumed it’d just continue going until I decided to quit, but that wasn’t the case. My policy got dropped. When we needed them, they said I didn't have coverage. And I’m like, “What do you mean I don’t have coverage?” And so, I had to open up a whole new policy and wait a 30-day period before I can make a claim ‘cause it’s an automatic withdraw from my account, which irritated me.     I’ve had American Home Shield for close to 10 years and I like that it’s one less thing to have to budget for. More often, I do the claims over the phone, which is because the most common claim seems to be plumbing and the plumbing companies are the usually the worst. It's been a while since I've had a plumbing incident but they had some real pieces of work in the past. Literally, these people didn't know what they were doing. They would cancel on you two to three times before they finally show up. Then, they break stuff instead of fixing anything. We found out from one that he was only a week on the job and has no prior experience. He was a bartender and not a plumber so, it was no wonder he broke things.

    I’ve had several refrigerator claims and Sears was notoriously slow when AHS used them recently. It wasn’t the fault of AHS since Sears have been one of the overloaded companies lately, but if AHS is interested in them, they should have had more subcontractors to choose from locally. The contractors that sign on with them get overbooked and they couldn't make it to all their appointments. Then, the turnaround times would be blown out from two days to five days. Also, the part would be rare and then they would have to order it. They would come back two weeks later.

    If it's a refrigerator, it’s hard not having one for weeks. So, AHS would benefit themselves, for appliances, to have more to choose from. They usually have two in each trade and a lot of times, those are overbooked. Having eight would be wise. I’ve also had one or two claims for electrical and they weren’t responsive, not that timely and I ended up paying out of pocket. But the oven replacement went very nicely.

He came out and fixed both issues with the refrigerator. We had to wait on parts, so it was a week and a half to wait on them. But they contacted me immediately after I made the appointment to schedule a day for the service to begin. They were Johnny-on-the-spot the entire time. And, the repairman was very friendly. He was able to take care of one item that same day and then he said, “We’re gonna order a motor for the other.” So, they came back about a week later to fix the motor.     The contractors sent by American Home Shield were trying to dry my floors. We had a flood problem from the water heater. They checked the floors, and they came in, they ripped the flooring, and ran some humidifiers and some blowers in here for a couple of days. They were out here the next morning after I filed the claim to AHS to fix the leak with the water heater.

    I submitted the claim online. They put me over the phone too, and the person I spoke with was helpful. They gave me a phone number, and I talked to them. They got somebody to come out and they didn't take that long. Since the repair, there were no issues with the water heater. They're trying to get someone to repair the damage to the floors, and I've been waiting. The first people we called came out and did the measurement of the section, then the floor was still too wet. When people came out when I called them, it says, "Restores," and when you say that restore, I interpret that to mean they're gonna put it back the way it was but they didn't.

    The first person that American Home Shield sent out was ATR General Services, and they told my mother that she needed to pay $440 upfront in order for them to do the work because of some part they needed. When she paid them, American Home Shield called them, and they said they were gonna reimburse the money, and they have yet to reimburse my mom her $440 back. I’ve tried calling them but they won’t answer the phone. So, that’s why I had to call American Home Shield and ask for their help. And there has been no reply. Right now, I’m not happy with American Home Shield. I wish I had researched ATR before I had them to come out because they didn't perform the job. They were not great. Their rating was 1 and American Home Shield needs to drop them fast.

    The second people that American Home Shield sent out did a wonderful job. They're coming back out on Tuesday because there's a part that was missing that they need to install for the AC unit. The AC is working, though. We’re getting cool air, which is fabulous. It worked really great. The person who had to do the evaluation was very professional and very thorough.

    Piedmont Mechanical was great. They texted when they were on their way and the app showed that the guy was on his way as well. The technician came to the door on time. He was in uniform and he showed his ID. He was not afraid of my dogs and he didn't wanna make a mess. He asked if I wanted him to put something down up in the attic for me and he went up there. He also asked for permission to enter the bedroom to check for the thermostat. He went out, asked what side of the house to go, had all the parts on his truck and then asked for permission to enter the house again. He also told me that I had 30 days on the same service call. He could not be more polite. He was professional in appearance and with the way he spoke to me. He did not delay anything and I was able to understand him.

    I've had the contract with American Home Shield for two years. This is the first time I've ever had to claim and I could not have been more pleased. I tried to submit the claim online, but I had to call them because I renewed the contract on a promotion and it showed that I still had an outstanding balance because the promotional credit hadn't gone through yet. I was frustrated but they handled it really well. Their rep got it scheduled and she even said that if I give it an hour then I could call the company. She also gave me a dispatch number and they would have it and if it was cancelled, I had to wait for about two days. It has been 97 degrees here. So I was surprised that it only took two days because I asked the technician how busy he had been and he said that it had been crazy. My sister has an existing home, but I also wanna buy a contract with AHS for her.

    The two people from Jet Plumbing, LLC who came to do the plumbing were swift. One of them went to look at the toilet, one of them went to look at the sink grinder, the disposal. They were able to unjam the disposal by just using a tool and when I turned it on it was still a little loud. The other one said that there may still be a little something in there and that I would just have to keep on using it and it may settle itself down. And he was right, it has settled down and it’s quieter now. With the toilet, the plumber immediately said that the insides of the back of the tank were old and worn-out. He went out and got a set from his truck, and replaced them, and the toilet ha been great ever since. AHS reps have always been very positive. They would say, “I’m sorry, this is happening to you.” And then, they'd set about handling the claim and would always check with me if there’s anything else that I need before we hang up. I’m so impressed.

    Sierra Mechanical came out for our heating. They were checking to see if there was a crack. I had another person out servicing my AC and heating system. I do that every year, and it was the same people who put my new AC in this year because I had to get a new AC. And they said, “Oh, there’s a crack in your heater, in the heat exchanger.” So, we called American Home Shield to check it out, and they had a photo and I had them check it out. Then I called Classic Aire back and they came back out with a senior inspector who said, “You absolutely have no crack in your heat exchange.”

    Then I called Spire but I didn’t confirm the appointment. That’s the gas company. I was gonna have the gas company come out if Classic Aire saw another crack because Sierra saw no crack. They didn’t have a camera to look in anything, but they did the testing. So, when the Classic Aire senior inspector came back, they had a camera and they did the same thing that Sierra did. The senior inspector and Sierra said there was no crack. So, there was no need for me to call the gas company because that was gonna be my next step because I have Carbon Monoxides all over. I have a ranch home with a basement because we’re in the mid-west, and we have Carbon Monoxides in the basement and on the main level. We run our heat a lot in the winter and it’s gonna get down to 37 next week. We won’t probably be using the heater until the first part of November.

    Sierra was great. The service guy was very professional. He said, “Hey, I checked this twice. I ran it again.” He even waited as I called Classic Aire to say, “Hey, my insurance inspector did not find a crack, and he wants to know exactly which hole did he see it in.” They didn’t get back to me in time, but then they sent a senior inspector out, and the guy came and said there was nothing. I got everything in writing in case my Carbon Monoxide thing goes off. I can get somebody by the neck.

    We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. Since we had a home in Mission Viejo we had American Home Shield. And then when we moved to Missouri in 2002, and then we bought this house we had American Home Shield from day one. We also have American Home Shield in our town home that we own in Laguna Hills. We like their service because they’ll send a qualified person out, and we don’t have to figure it out. We’re busy people, and my husband travels. His job takes him to several countries internationally. So, he does a lot of international travel and I’m just here. My kids are grown. They’re in college, but still, nonetheless, I don’t have to worry about it. We tell all of our friends about American Home Shield. I tell them that they have to renew their service.And when they say, “Oh my god, but it’s like so many hundred dollars or whatever,” I say it is still worth it to have that peace of mind.

    There was a small leak under the master sink so I called it in to AHS and NW Sundance Services came out. They were very fast and they got it done. I put in a stovetop claim the same time I put the plumbing in. The guy who came out and looked at the stovetop said they needed to order a new part. The guy ordered it but it didn't work. So, he had to order a whole new stovetop. It was dropped off yesterday and nobody installed it. They said that they were just delivering it and that was that.     The previous house owner had the AC unit replaced about a year ago, but it appears that in trying to cut corners and not spend much money, the electrical going to the AC unit in the attic was not replaced with the unit. You can open the fuse box and pull out a little fuse and stop power running to the unit. I pulled it out one day to change the air filters, and it broke in half. I went to Home Depot to see if I can replace it and couldn't. So, then we went ahead and called American Home Shield to utilize our warranty. And the gentleman came out. He was very prompt, called ahead, and did a fantastic job.

    The only thing that concerned me was he left some of his mess up there, but I picked it up and threw that away. But other than that, he fixed it within under an hour. He had us back working. We went about two days without AC. Luckily, it was one of those timeframes where it wasn't 95 degree that day, but we managed. We're grateful to have American Home Shield on our side. It all worked out.

    We utilized the warranty again to have all the doors rekey. It worked out great. We picked this particular warranty package because it said that rekeying would be something they would offer. So for the $75 fee, the guy came out, and he was very nice and fixed all of that. So, now we have the same key for all of our entry ways. So, it makes it easier for us. Plus the fact we have the peace of mind knowing that nobody else has the key to get to our house. So it made my wife and my girls feel better.

    We also called American Home Shield when we had an issue with the garage door. It ended up being a problem with the push button that was beside the backdoor going to the garage. So the tech changed a part in it. It started working again with no problem. So, it took him probably under an hour to figure out what the issue was there and get it back working for us. So, we were very pleased all three times we've used American Home Shield's service.

    My AC went out and I didn’t know what was wrong with it so I called American Home Shield. Scottsdale Services was our given contractor and they sent somebody out. I called them on Thursday and they couldn’t come out until the following Monday which was very annoying. In the meantime, we almost lost our coral in our aquarium because of the heat in here. I had to go out and buy a floor AC to put on the aquarium. It was very aggravating. But I dealt with that. A technician then came out, went up into the attic, came back down and said the pan was cracked. He was in a hurry and he rushed through everything. That was rude.

    I ask him asked how the pan cracked and was told somebody must have had stepped on it on the pipes. The technician wasn’t clear about what was wrong. I was going how anybody could stand on the pipe. It was right next to the unit. Also, there was no way that anybody was on that side of the attic. He said he didn’t know why the pan was cracked. That was when he said he was gonna submit a report about it. After he left, I texted him and told me to send me the picture that he took because I wanted to know exactly what he was talking about so I could go up and look at it.

    I also asked him if he had checked the drain because the overflow pan was full of water. He went up there and he suctioned it out but he never told me if he checked the drain or not. I asked what I was supposed to do and he said that he had to contact American Home Shield. He never responded and never sent me the picture. It was total silence. To this day, I haven’t heard from the man.

    I told American Home Shield I was not satisfied. There has been nobody up in the attic and we don’t go up there. I had a water heater replaced which is also up in the attic but that’s on the other side of the unit. There is no way that somebody could’ve gone and cracked that pan. In addition to that, the pan is inside of the unit that he said was cracked. After some research with Google, I found out that the pan can corrode over time. It’s plastic-like and the tech said the plastic doesn’t break. But it does as it can get brittle. I had American Home Shield send me out somebody else.

    The second technician went up into the attic and he said the same thing. The pan was cracked but he didn’t understand how. He said the only way that the pan could’ve cracked was if somebody had stepped on it. I told him that the first tech who came was in a hurry. The second tech said that the only thing he could think of was that the first tech was checking the drain to see if it was clogged and he may have accidentally stepped on the pan to look over the unit.

    I called American Home Shield because they said they would not cover that because that was human error in the AC unit. I told them I begged to differ because there has been nobody in that area aside from the tech from Scottsdale. My ex-husband came over because I was not satisfied and nobody was fixing anything. He went up there and checked. The drain was clogged. He unclogged the drain and I have not had a problem with it since. But the pan could still be cracked. My ex-husband did not go in. He didn’t take the lid off anything but he did clean out the drain pipe.

    Aside from my AC, American Home Shield sent someone out to fix my water heater before. The first time a tech came out was great. The only thing with the first one was that it took time but the water heater was fixed and I was happy with it. This time with my AC though, I was not happy because American Home Shield went by what was written in the report. How would they know if that was correct or not? What if the first tech accidentally stepped on the pan as he was checking the drainpipe? When I asked him what I was supposed to do he said just to check it. If it got full of water again, I was to go up there and suction it out. I am 67 years old. I don’t go up in the attic to begin with and I’m not gonna go up there to suction anything out. That’s electrical and I don’t do that. He said there was nothing he could do.

    I called American Home Shield and I put in a complaint. They never called me back. When I asked a rep to send me to a certain department, I was told that people in that department were not allowed to speak to the public. They would have to call me. To this day, I haven’t received a phone call. Right now, I would not recommend American Home Shield and I'm thinking about cancelling my policy with them. I do better by saving my money instead of paying them $100 each visit for them to tell me that I did it. I’m very dissatisfied.

    My air conditioner broke down about 2 weeks ago. American Home Shield would cover only $385.00 and $2245.00 on me. They offered me a cash out payment of $385.00 that covers labor only. I have not received the cash out and called today about the status of the cash out. They said they need proof of repair, when I called 4 days ago, somebody said the check is on the way. They have all kinds of excuses not pay for the repair, should not they at least half the cost of the repair. Be careful when you choose home warranty company. AHS did not work for me. I doubt their reviews.

    VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED!! I have carried AHS for close to 30 years between a past home and now my current. I have been fortunate to live in 2 homes where costly repairs were not consistently needed, but when they were, AHS performed at a satisfactory level. Last week my A/C went out. I called AHS and a repairman was sent out within the week. The repairman climbed up to the attic to check the unit and took a photo. He explained to me that about 10-12' of duct was damaged and would need to be replaced. He explained he didn't carry that much duct on his truck and would also need to get approval from AHS.

    Two days later, I received an email asking about the performed service on my A/C. I called AHS to let them know repairs hadn't been done, as I was waiting for approval. The service representative then informed me that repairs would not be covered by AHS, as the photo they'd received from the repairman showed excessive damage due to abuse. Their opinion was the damaged section was not due to normal wear and tear and that I would be responsible for the repairs which would be approximately $600.00. I explained to the rep that this was not true. My husband or I have no business or desire to climb up a ladder to the attic to look at and then purposely damage the A/C unit. We simply noticed the house wasn't cooling when A/C on, and gave AHS a call!

    I asked to speak to a supervisor, was told he/she was on another line, but that someone would get back to me that evening. No one called. I called back that same evening before going to bed, spoke with another service rep asking to be transferred to a supervisor. Again. I was told a supervisor would get back to me shortly. No one called back. Called a third time the following day, wanting to share my concern and disappointment.

    It was this third call to AHS I learned I was talking to the Philippines. I asked this third representative if she could give me a phone number to their office in the United States. She could not. She assured me someone would call back. No one called back. I went online to look up the AHS Corporate Office. I found them in Tennessee with a phone number listed. I felt I was finally on to speaking to someone who could possibly help! The number I called sent me back to representatives in the Philippines...

    I have a A/C repairman coming out to the house today. Plan on getting 2 more estimates before we decide who we'll go with to make the necessary repairs. It will not be AHS. I will not give them any more money. After 30 years, I will be cancelling my policy. I will tell anybody looking for a home warranty company to stay away from AHS and find a company who will stand behind their business. If management within the company reads this, cares enough to contact me, I'm still willing to share my disappointment. Not holding my breath.

    So far, American Home Shield has been great to work with. My most recent claim was for a gas stove. One of the knobs to turn the burner on broke, so it’s leaking gas. I did the claim online.     We had an appliance issue and our claim for it with American Home Shield seemed to go well. CK Appliance Repair was very helpful. I was a little upset with the claim before it though. We've been dealing with different issues to get this resolved. The group before CK apparently didn't fix what needed to be fixed. CK told me it wasn't done. So I need to probably re-open that second claim to get a valve fixed inside my washing machine. The guy from Discount Contractors that came out only fixed one of the valves. Overall, American Home Shield is great.

    On our gas oven claim with American Home Shield, the first contractor that was sent said there was nothing wrong with the oven. Two people in the house cook all the time. I called American Home Shield back, and then Active Appliance came out. The service guy opened up the oven and unscrewed it, and he said we needed a new igniter. The first company was crappy. That was a waste of American Home Shield's money. Active Appliance helped there.

    On our electric oven claim, what was weird was, we had a problem with it keeping heat. We’d open the door, close it, and it would go off. Now, the contractor said to someone that was in the house that he needed to order a part. That was my understanding. Then I called, and that was when I got upset because no one called me about the part. What happened was, I called the Philippines, and I had a lot of hassle. And finally, they weren’t gonna come to look at my oven for another week and three days, and they said there was no part.

    So then, American Home Shield was waiting for the technician’s diagnosis. It took him many days to diagnose it, which I still don’t know what the diagnosis is today. So, we gave up on that. Then Active Appliance also came out for my refrigerator and said, “We’re gonna try to unplug it ‘cause it was dripping and leaking. I think that’s the thing.” He did not open up anything or unscrew anything to look at any lines. I undid my refrigerator, turned it off for 24 hours, did what he said, and then I turned it back on 24 hours. Two days later, it was leaking again. So, that was not good. And they were gonna take another week and three days to come back to look at it, which I thought was awful. I called them and I wanted to talk to the supervisor. I was not rude in any way, but then they just weren’t answering. So, I called American Home Shield.

    I called a lot, and Magic was the latest one that got involved. And they actually checked out my electric oven. They said it’s working fine. So, I think so far, it’s working fine. With my refrigerator, they came out within two days instead of a week and a half, and the tech knew the problem. So, Magic is like magic. I would hire them more than any other company so far.

    But with the first company that came out for my gas oven, the tech was very rude. He sat there and said, “It works. It works. What do you mean?” And then Active came in and said, “No. You need a new igniter.” So, American Home Shield's people are not the best. Their wasting their money. I already had five people coming for the same thing. It’s not fair. I call in to make my claims with them, and if my interactions are in America, they're pretty good. If it’s abroad, they say, “Oh, I’m so sorry. We can’t do anything about it.” I have spent an hour and a half trying to get supervisors. So, it's bad customer service. In fact, I almost cancelled my plan. That was what made them get Magic Appliance in here. I have not been happy, and I don’t think I’ll renew.

    We didn't have the highest hopes and we had heard in the past from other sources that we were going to be disappointed with American Home Shield but they came through for us twice in one year and it worked out very well. We appreciate it. There were some additional side charges, but they were negligible. The contractor did the repair on the air conditioner, and they told us that it was an old unit and it'll probably have more problems in the future but for now, it seems to be chugging along just fine. We had another property where my son lives, and the air conditioner had to be fixed there as well. Both of them were satisfactory.

    The house on Monte Vista came with a contract for one year at the time of purchase. Then, about 10 months into it, the air conditioner stopped working. Someone was sent over and they did a very good job of keeping that old unit. It's probably off the contract right now but we have a continuing contract on our house here on Convent Street.

    In my latest claim with AHS, there was a lot of back and forth with the plumber from about where to cut into the wall. And there were things that AHS would cover and things they wouldn’t. We were trying to figure out a way to do it without incurring too much personal expense, and went back and forth and then the leak just stopped. We don’t know why it stopped or when it’s gonna come back again and it became not a priority anymore. So, we just kinda dropped. I submitted this claim through email. Online would be okay too to submit claims. I think through phone is the least desirable because you always miss important information. Then when we bought the house, we heard a lot of mixed reviews about warranty companies following through so we didn’t do it.     We found a little bit of mold on the wall and saw that we had some type of wall leak, so I started a claim with American Home Shield online. The contractor came out, and when they realized the scope of the mold, they called out some restoration people to come take a look and help us out to get that process started because they couldn't do any more work until the mold was taken care of. So, they helped us with that, and then it took a while to get that taken care of. And then they came back out once the work was completed and realized that it was much more than just the leaky wall. It was a complete deterioration of my cast-iron pipe under my house. So, they worked with us and put new plumbing and new pressure system in our home, and now we’re just working on the rebuild. It was a big job, but they did a good job helping us out. They finished everything. I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. But I wish the policy covered more.

    We had a problem with our dishwasher as there was a little valve that was stuck and there was water leaking inside. We submitted a claim online through the automated prompts and then we were to expect the contractors out in 24 hours. Hornet Appliance Services was sent out and they were in and out. They replaced the valve and explained everything in detail. They made it very simple, asked any questions, and then left and came back and repaired it the same way. Now that the dishwasher works and everything has been performing perfectly fine, we didn't have to wash dishes by hand. This experience with American Home Shield has been very positive.

    Filing claims to the AHS website has been reasonably straightforward. Recently, we did one for our ice maker on our refrigerator. The fellow from Matt’s Plumbing Services came out and took a look at it. He was very professional and courteous. He said we needed some adjustments and to let it go for 24 hours to see if it made ice. If it didn't, we’d let him know and then he would come back and replace the ice maker. Right now, we’re still waiting for ice.

    We've been with AHS forever. When we lived in Indiana, in Texas, and in Covington, we were with AHS. I try to submit claims online because calling is so hard. I wish the wait time wasn't so long if you wanted to speak to someone. But other than that, it's an easy process. I had a claim for my refrigerator. That was a headache. The first repair guy came in and said I just had to adjust the temperature. I think he just wanted to get out of here. The next morning, I had water everywhere on my floor and around my cabinets. It was not fixed. AHS called someone else out and the guy came out the next day. He said it couldn't be fixed and I asked him to let AHS know that. This was three to four weeks and my family of five didn't have a refrigerator. It was very, very hard times. But AHS took care of the replacement.

    For my most recent claim, G & E Appliances came out and the tech was great. He was very knowledgeable and he fixed the issue with no problem. Overall, I would recommend AHS. I'd tell my neighbor they should get it because you'll never know if something is gonna happen. Even for a new home, everything is new, you still can have a problem.

    Once I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, it took three days for Martin’s Appliance Repair to come out for the ice machine. They had to order a part and come back. They came back and they fixed it within a couple of days. But then it started making a noise. I contacted the contractor and let him know. He came back out today to see what the noise is. He has to order another part and he’ll be back to fix that on Friday.

    Originally, when Summer Breeze, the air conditioner people, came out, the guy said I needed an electrician. A switch was turned off on the wall. Electrical Service Professionals just came out today and switched it on. He was really nice and great. On the other hand, Summer Breeze should've checked the fuse box, but he said the fuse box was bad and a fuse needed replaced. And that he didn't do that which he should have. So, that wasn’t very professional on Summer Breeze's part, not to have figured that out.

    And that whole debacle with the air conditioner company for the whole summer, trying to get it fixed was the problem from the get-go. They made an appointment and took two weeks for them to get there. When they got there, they said, “Oh, you need this motor.” So, it took two more weeks. So, we were without air conditioner for six weeks during the summer, just waiting for them to try to fix it. And then finally, they said, “Oh, you need a new air conditioner. They tried whatever they could do to prolong or patch it when I needed a new air conditioner the whole time.

    The last note I see on my online login with AHS was from June 26. They’ve been out two or three times, and the electrical work, and the follow-up when the air conditioner quit working again. Then, it was off again for another month. So, I was without air conditioner twice, both for extended periods of time. When the air conditioner company came out, they didn't report back. So, I had to keep on calling to find out what was gonna happen next. When I talked to someone from AHS, nothing got done and there was no follow-up.

    So now, I have a brand-new air conditioner, but I don't have any warranty and I don't have the paperwork. Summer Breeze said, “You have to get that from the warranty company.” Then, American Home Shield told me, “You have to get that from Summer Breeze.” I didn't renew with American Home Shield because of all this, and now, I’m afraid my air conditioner’s gonna break and I don't have any paperwork, warranty, or any proof that it was repaired or that I have a warranty on my unit. It’s really frustrating and I was very disappointed. If they're concerned and they care, then what happened wouldn’t have happened.

    South Cooling was great when American Home Shield sent them out for a particular claim. I have a mini splitter that they're the only company that knows how to work it. I only have good things about them. However, I have an existing claim in for my claims. The company that American Home Shield sent out was great, but I am not at all satisfied with the fact that I've been waiting for parts on a range for over three years, and I still haven't got it. It is really unacceptable.

    The AC went out over the weekend, but nobody could come out on a weekend. The contractor came out yesterday and replaced the compressor motor and now, I’ve got a Freon leak plus a whole bunch of other work that needs to take place. The technician that left yesterday made a bunch of notes and they were gonna report that back to American Home Shield. We just switched over to AHS and this is the first process we’re going through with them. I’m waiting for them to approve and the contractor is supposed to call me today.

    Last year, I blasted AHS to the moon and back as they were gonna deny a claim. I climbed the ladder until they got my client's issue taken care of. The people AHS had sent were not qualified and they had terrible business ratings. When a client of mine calls and has a problem, if I feel they're wrong, I tell them. However that time, my client wasn't wrong.

    More recently, I placed a claim for an electrical issue to AHS on a Friday and their system said that it would be a business day when they would get back to me. They called me on a Saturday which is typically not a business day where I am and scheduled the appointment for Monday. Reliable Garage Door showed up at the appointed time and while I figured they'd repair what I had, they went in and put a brand-new one in. Everything was clean and well done. Plus, they didn’t ask for any more money than the deductible. I am a Realtor and I've had some problems with American Home Shield for clients in the past, but this was about as good and easy as it went. The contractor was Better Business Bureau listed A+ and the techs were professional and quiet. AHS has done a very good job for me.

    I had a great experience with American Home Shield. I did their online claim for my dishwasher because we couldn't get it to work and their website was nice. In terms of user-friendliness, it was excellent. I was told someone would come out in about 24 to 48 hours. The ones who came were great and they fixed the dishwasher. So far, it has been operating well.
