I had a clogged toilet and I made a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. The technician who came out was very professional and nice. I’ve had AHS for several years and I would recommend them.

I had a broken garbage disposal and when I submitted a claim online, I was very pleased with the American Home Shield website. Then My Georgia Plumber called me that day and scheduled the appointment. They told me an exact time and it was within 24 hours of the call. They were very nice. They explained to me that they were working on the garbage disposal and it was good because they told me about a piece that was removable.
My Georgia Plumber handled everything just fine, but American Home Shield took forever to authorize a replacement. The plumber said that the garbage disposal needed to be replaced, but he had to get approval first. He was on the phone with AHS for 15 minutes and then somebody came on the line and hang up on him. He then went outside for a while and he was still on the phone when he came back in and finally, it was picked up and approved. American Shield needs to respond to their call-ins when getting an approval. Other than that, everything has been performing great.

Everything works since Crystal Clear Plumbing came out. They were fantastic and the schedule on when to expect the contractors went fine. The claim was to put in a new valve 'cause it wasn't staying at temperature. I went online to submit this claim and I hated the website of American Home Shield. It was a piece of crap. It was not easy to use, and I could not enter in what I needed repaired. I would have liked if I could actually enter in what the plumbing problem was instead of having to pick one that it was not, and then dealing with the plumber later ‘cause there was no option to tell them what was really wrong with my freaking shower. We've been with American Home Shield for one year and we are not renewing.
I hate to hear that our website frustrated you Tracy. My name is Stacy & I've emailed you in an effort to make sure you don't have any outstanding work orders that we need to resolve. I look forward to speaking with you.

I called in a claim at American Home Shield and it was perfect. 2 Bald Guys came out and the appliance worked fine when they showed up. The tech thought it might have been a wiring thing, and he jiggled something the right way. He didn’t have to replace anything, but he did come out and look at it. He was completely professional and it was a great experience.

Submitting a claim was very easy. I went online the night before when I noticed the HVAC was not working and R E Boggs was at my home at 9:00 AM. I was very impressed. They came out very quickly. It also happened to be the company I used anyway so I actually knew the technician who had been to my home for other things before and it went beautifully. The unit was fixed quickly. It was great.
Good Morning Debbie,

I've had AHS since '79 and I like everything about them. I can submit a claim online, but I like to talk to a live body so they know what my problem is. On our oven claim, United Services came on time and got the job done. They were in and out in less than 30 minutes. It just needed a screw, but it did take somebody knowing what they were doing to get it unscrewed and done properly.
When my air went out, the length of time it took to get somebody out here was long when we had no air and it was 100 degrees. The people that finally got out here to do my heat and air was Southern Comfort and they were amazing. They were the guys who worked at my house the day they finally got the thing in. It had to be ordered, but there was a delay because I had to replace my air 'cause it wouldn't work with the new heat system. We couldn't just add it to the call so I had to go on a second one and pay the $75. I just wanted it done quickly. But those guys at Southern Comfort that did my heat and air and then my upstairs heat went out in the middle of winter. They then had to come back and they did that system. I couldn't have asked for anybody to be better than those guys were.

I signed up with this company the beginning of this year and over the phone I told them all of what I had, including septic and well. A contract was written and the monthly fee started. During the summer I called to verify my plan covered all I had, the gentleman said yes. So in September I called for a pipe going into house was leaking, they said I wasn’t covered, that was a separate “well plan” I did not have. I was so upset I cancelled the plan. I had to call a local plumber to have it repaired.
When I called the company to talk to a management position, to find out what went wrong I was told they could go back and listen to the recording of my contract sign up, but since I cancelled it they were not obligated to do so. Their customer service is non caring and when you do call them you are speaking to someone in the Philippines, Not very happy with this company at all.... Looking elsewhere :(
I apologize for not delivering the expected service Cindy. It frustrates me to know that you might've been misinformed in regards to coverage. Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have a great week.

We picked AHS for our home warranty company because of their really good reviews and ratings online. Boy was that a mistake! AHS has the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with. They didn't call me to keep me informed. I had to call them multiple times a day, for several WEEKS to get my issue sorted out. I had to repeat why I was calling and give the whole background nearly every time I called. They also hire terrible contractors. The first company contracted to check/service our AC units came out, spent about 10 minutes at my house, told us what was wrong and that we needed new parts. Then they told AHS that the problem was pre-existing and would pre-date our warranty with AHS. AHS decided to just accept that and try to deny the parts claim.
I had to prove the issue was not pre-existing by providing a copy of our home inspection report that showed the issue wasn't there prior, before they would approve the work. The first contractor also stopped responding to me or AHS altogether. AHS then contracted a 2nd company to give a free 2nd opinion (which was originally not going to be free...). Diagnosis was the same; however, the company wanted to charge $129/lb. of R22 refrigerant and said we needed 8 lbs ($952) per AC unit! With 2 units, that would have been $1900! They also cut holes in our interior AC boxes and didn't patch them up.
They bent some of the metal as well. And we later found out from the guy we hired ourselves that the 2nd company had left the cap off of the refrigerant line so it could leak out. They were crooks. Luckily AHS did give me an option to get a cash out and hire our preferred company. Turns out we only needed about 1.5 lbs of R22 TOTAL and we only had to pay $75/lb. So this saved us around $1800. Bottom line: I do not recommend AHS for anyone's home warranty needs. Find someone else!
I apologize for the the way we handled your claim Tyler. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you in an effort to make sure your claim is resolved.

We are using AHS for the first time after hearing great feedback about the services through a family that has coverage. Our first experience was poor purely due to the lack of communication and direction. Our water heater has been down since last Tuesday (Total of 7 days) and we have had to personally call both AHS and the service company Express Plumbing for status updates. We have not received timely updates on the progress at all.
In our own initiative to call AHS we found out today (7 days later) that the service company won’t do repair until we make additional payments. My husband has been on the phone with the service company and had asked to see if additional actions are needed on our end and was told that there isn’t. AHS said that they attempted to call but only tried one attempt with no further attempts (i.e another call, email, etc...). Again, all of this initiated from our end. Also, we can understand that there may be a wait, but 7 days with all updates initiated by the customer? In our opinion, this is poor service and a very poor transparency. If this continues through this service request, we’ll revisit the need of having AHS.
I apologize for the inconvenience Nancy, as I can understand your frustration with trying to get your plumbing issue resolved. I've sent you a private message requesting your contract number as I would like to follow up and assist with a resolution.

The company sent me a plumbing service that has taken over a month to fix my problem. I've called to complain to AHS a couple of times and all they said is, "We'll figure it out and give them another opportunity." The Plumbing company advised to order parts that did not fit my my faucet and now I spent money on top of my service with still a broken faucet after over a month of still not having the service fixed and I cant return the error parts. I have another faucet that they tried to fix that is worse than what it was because now it doesn't regulate the temperature. Now the water is hot and a little less hot.
The only reply AHS has after a couple complaints is,"Wait and see." I asked if I could have another company and they said I would have to pay another service fee and request another company. They want me to stick to the irresponsible company. Just perfect. Service fee $100, monthly fee $ 50 and extra useless parts $ 60 dollars so basically $210 later no fix. Lesson learned dont purchase parts if the contractor tells you and stay on top of them and call AHS a million times to fix the problems.

So, we didn’t know what the problem was, and that was why we called initially or put in for them to come look and see. I did the claim online. It's pretty easy. I just went on the AHS website and filed a claim and explained what the issue was. The contractors have come out a couple of times and I really liked them. They’ve been very good. They’ve been very quick. This time, they had to go back and forth a few times because they couldn’t get the problem diagnosed right away. But once they figured it out, it's been working fine. The toilets were running and we had a plumber come out. He was good. He fixed two out of the four toilets that we have, and he checked the other two and said they were fine. But those two that he can't fix are very intermittent and they don't run all the time. I submitted the original claim with American Home Shield over the phone and with the most recent one, I just did over the internet. It's really easy to do online and I prefer it over calling. He didn't come in here saying, "Oh, I was sent here for a problem, so let's make a problem, so I can make some money." He came in here and he checked the motor out, and the capacitor, the condenser fan, and the board. Everything checked out good. He said that it's perfect, and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He told me that it was a normal thing for how far the air has to travel. Altogether, the whole experience was a good experience.

The guy who came for the air conditioning was super. He fixed it then it ran an hour and then he said it was probably gonna need a fan motor. An hour later, it quit and it started smelling like burnt wires in the house, so I shut the breaker off. That was a week we’ve been without air conditioning. They ordered the part, and now it’s been a week. They told American Home Shield it would be in on Friday and they’d make an appointment for Monday or Tuesday. I called and they said it wasn’t in. So I called first thing Monday morning. They said it came in on the truck and they scheduled me for Tuesday between 2:00 and 6:00. I said, “Great.” Nobody showed up nor called us. We didn’t know what was going on. I had to continuously make calls where you have to hold forever for Total Air Care and most of the time you go over the Philippines, and they read scripts to you. I’m sick and tired of going overseas.
I have nothing against anybody answering the phone, but it takes so long and they talk fast. I have to keep telling them to slow down so I can understand. And if you interrupt them, they start the script all over. That’s taxing. I called American Home Shield to see if could call Total Air, but they sent me to the Philippines, and they said they couldn’t transfer me to the United States, so I just hung up. I’m tired of not getting someone that can understand me and not having to read from a script.
Last night the contractor told American Home Shield something was wrong with the part. I told them that was a lie. This morning, I found out they just couldn’t find the part, but they did get their hands on it today and found it. So, I told scheduling to get it on a truck and get it out so they can fix it today. She said no and that they were totally booked. I said they should bump somebody because we got ignored the previous day and that was only fair. She said no and the soonest they could get to me was Friday, between 2:00 and 6:00. So, now, we’re over a week again. It was two weeks we waited on the air conditioner, and it was so hot. I just had a total hip replacement, so with the heat, I was miserable. And now, it’s like a week and a half. I’m waiting on the supervisor of scheduling to call me back when she gets out of a meeting because I want it worked on today.
We’re paying monthly now, not autodraft. We want the bill every month because we were looking at other ones. We felt like American Home Shield was telling us one thing, that they expedited it because I was a senior citizen, just had surgery and we had a grandson staying for us while his mom’s working out of town. Well, it didn’t help a single bit. I want my AC worked on today. They just don't act like it's a big thing. I’m ticked off, and I hate them. If something goes wrong with my air conditioner next time, I want someone else coming out because these people just take too long and they lie.
I’m a Realtor and I used to recommend American Home Shield and I swore and I talked my people into buying it when they bought their house. But I’m not there right now. I’m not happy. American Home Shield should have told me they would get me a new air conditioner. The air conditioner is 34 years old. They got a new compressor, but it took them two weeks to find it and get it out here. Now, we’re dealing with the fan and the motor inside. The air conditioner works awesome when it’s working and the technicians were awesome but I'm very dissatisfied. My office is in my home, and I was just released, and I’ve had to bump people from last week to this week, and now this week, I have to bump them to start next week because they said Friday. I’m losing money and they're costing me clients too. One of them can't wait longer than next Tuesday. He’ll have to go get it somewhere else he said.
Susan,

It was easy to put the claim in with American Home Shield and I enjoyed the beta version of being able to select the vendor. I called ahead of time before I submitted the claim. So, I knew there was a quick availability and I was able to get other reviews outside of American Home Shield. I enjoyed the guy who came out for the air conditioning which lost its cooling ability.
I got really frustrated with the claim regarding an appliance that had been replaced. The frustration stems from the lack of communication starting with the sales side and then finishing up with the customer support side. I thought I asked the right questions and the questions that I asked were just on the sales side when I was purchasing. They were answered in a way that was probably not lying, but definitely not conveying the full truth, which has to do with being able to replace your appliance with a cheaper model. We have a double oven type, one stacked on top of the other, and the top one got broken beyond fixing, they couldn’t get parts for it. They wanna replace it with the cheaper appliance, which looked completely different when there was a direct replacement for it.
I went back and forth with the support people and they said to look on page something of my contract where it said they could do that. I would at least know then that was what I signed up for. That was probably the key point to know. Upon signing, you have expectations and I asked them if it gets replaced, do they replace it with the same one and from what they told me, it led me to believe that they do a direct replacement, not find a cheapest model of something that’s equivalent. But I’m still pretty satisfied with the American Home Shield.

Because they were saying that my hot water tank is really old and that there are different things that should have been on it that aren't, I found out that nothing of it is covered at all. On a previous claim, I had an old dryer and they were able to replace it because they couldn't fix it. But not everything is covered even though they say that if they cannot fix it, they will replace it. They also don't give you any descriptions of anything. Family A/C is great and extremely fast. I’ve had them out for at least four times this year already for problems. We had the condenser replaced about two months ago. Then we came home one day from work and the house was 85 degrees. We were without AC for about two and a half weeks which wasn't good, but Family A/C was trying to figure out what AHS was gonna do. They ordered the part, but then some guy from American Home Shield called and said they were gonna just give me a new AC instead of repairing it. It's been a week now and the new AC is doing okay. It felt like it wasn’t cooling as it should, but it has been fine for the last two days. I’m extremely satisfied with this experience.
I've had a problem with a couple of the AHS reps because some of them don’t speak good English and that’s a big problem. Also, I wish that AHS could contract some local people around Pensacola, Florida to come and fix stuff. It’ll be a whole lot better. Earlier this summer, we had our double oven go out. I called AHS and paid the 125 over the phone. A technician came out, looked at it, and he said that I needed a motherboard or something. He ordered the part from my house. I watched him allegedly order the part. He gave me a date two weeks later to come back in and install it, and I even got the email from that company.
Two weeks later, I took half a day off work to come home for this idiot ‘cause they were gonna install this part in my oven. I was sitting at the house and never heard from him. I called him the next day and they said that there was a problem. They didn't order the part. Then they had to schedule me another week or two to come back out and then he called me up and asked if there was a need to come out. It was a horrible experience. They finally came out and fixed it. It took about a month to fix that up. Two or three years ago, when my icemaker was going out, that company did fine. It’s just this last year that I’ve had a couple of horror stories with them.

I’ve had American Home Shield off and on throughout the years, and I came back with them last December. When I had purchased our house years ago, the homeowners had AHS for the year. So, it was one of the things where they sold the house, and it had the insurance. We had to use AHS for a heating issue and everything worked out so great, so I decided to go back with them. I've spoken to their reps and the service was great. My most recent claim went fine. The contractor from A/C Plus was very professional. He did a good job and got my unit fixed, so that’s amazing.

I’m going into my second year with American Home Shield and I like using them because they usually have excellent providers and very, very timely. One Monday, I requested service for my AC online and the contractor came out Monday too. They were excellent. The fan blade on the outside unit had come loose from the motor, so they replaced the motor and ordered a fan blade. Wednesday morning, before they started their work schedule, it took five minutes to reattach the fan blades. They fixed the AC and everything is perfect.

I called AHS when the air conditioning system was not getting any cold air. It was just blowing cool air. The contractor set up an appointment, and they made a follow-up on it. They sent me text messages when they were coming, and they were pretty good on it. I got a quick response, so that was good about it. The tech checked the system and we found out that the refrigerant was very low. And then I was charged $90 more for the coolant. I thought I just have to pay my deductible. But the tech told me that I was only allowed $10 per pound. Other than that, everything went fine. The tech came out on time and did the job real good. It was not even half an hour and he was done. I had another service from my water heater and the guy that came out for that was very good. He was professional and he knew what he was doing.

We have a fan with a light in it and it hangs from the ceiling. I couldn’t get the fan blade chain to turn the fan blade off and it smelled like the beginning of a fire almost. So, we didn’t run the fan until City First Electric came out and fixed the problem. They arrived on time. It took them a while to repair and they weren’t the fastest but they got it all done. I have no complaints and I’d have them back again. After they fixed, we ran both the fan and light for 3 or 4 hours and there was still a slight odor to it. So, we thought, “Hmm, I wonder what’s going on here.” Then we went to bed and the next morning, we got up and I ran the fan and the light for the whole day with an air purifier in the room. By the evening, there was no more odor.
The problem with the fan is the second time we used Home Shield and the claim submission process was really easy in both the 2 times we used them. We just call them up and tell what the problems are, and they send the people out. The assigned contractor calls me and make an appointment, then they come out. Both times, they came out on time and were professional, neat, and clean. I was happy. We've had Home Shield since the end of last year and provided that they wouldn't be raising the rates then we will be renewing with them once the contract is up.

Clear Flow came out to fix my hot water heater that was leaking. I did the claim online which was pretty easy but it doesn't really give you much room for a description. You just kinda choose hot water heater. Then I got the call from the Clear Flow the next day and there were two different visits. The first one was from Cesar. He came out just to look at the hot water heater and see what was going on with it. That was pretty quick and they showed up within the timeframe that they said they would. The second visit was from Jose. He was great. He came in, I showed him where everything was, and he did his thing. He was pretty quick too. It took about two and a half hours. It was still dripping that night and I called Clear Flow the next morning and told them that. Apparently, there was another part that needed to be replaced. It was a pressure regulator. Jose came out the next day, fixed that up, and it's been good since then.
I had AHS years ago, and then I let it go. My house was fairly new and I thought I didn't really need it. Then I kinda had gotten hit with $1,300 worth of washer and dryer. I thought of looking into AHS again and I got it back beginning of this year.

The fan wasn’t working and it was causing my breaker box to trip. When the AC got fixed, I thought it fixed the breaker, then the AC was still tripping the breaker for like a day, but it hasn’t done it since. I’m not sure why that was, but it did it a couple of times after they fixed it, and I was gonna call them back. But since then, it hasn’t tripped the breaker again. The contractor from Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning was very thorough, prompt, concise, nice and professional. And he answered any and every question that I had about everything that he was doing and he didn't hesitate to give me additional information. He was really outstanding.
This is the second year that I’ve been with American Home Shield. I got it on a whim because it was on sale, and I never had to use them before. I’ve heard from a lot of people, not necessarily about American Home Shield, but about home warranty companies, about how awful their experiences had been, but mine was exemplary. I called AHS and the contractor called me literally the same day, and we had an appointment set up for the next day. I’ve only had this one interaction with them where something happened, but it was amazing and it was very efficient, and so I was very pleased.

My AC went out on a Sunday evening at about 7 o'clock. It got water in there and there was an emergency switch that shut it down. I submitted a claim with AHS online and it was easy. Then tech came and worked on it on Monday. He replaced the little thingamajigger that went in there that showed the water and fixed it by 9 o'clock. You can't get any better than that. The contractor was also excellent. He told me everything that he was doing. He said that he didn’t really like the switch in there because once you close it down, you gotta have to come out and have it done. Then he put a plunger in there and replaced that out. Now, if it comes on again and backs-up, then I’ll shut it off. And when the water goes down, it will just come back on. He was polite and thorough as well. So, I was very pleased with him. The AC's performance since the repair has been excellent, too.

I had two different issues. My water heater wasn't working so there was no hot water in the house. Someone from Blue Star Plumbing fixed it and he did a great job. He went somewhere and got some piece needed. He was respectful too. The other company came a month before for the toilet flushing issue I had. That was making noise after I flush the toilet so their technician fixed it and then changed the part. The water heater and the toilet work efficiently and well now.
I've had American Home Shield since I got this house in 2013. So it's been six years and the renewal is an automatic thing. It just goes through. It was like $50 first but right now, my premium has been raised up to $59. I don't think more stuff is covered though. It's the same. But the reps at AHS are always helpful and usually, I get fast service. There was a $75 charge and this claim was fast. After a day, I got a call and we scheduled. I had a leak from the bathroom going downstairs to the living room. Initially, American Home Shield sent somebody else and then, they sent Five Brothers Plumbing. They came out to diagnose the issue and later, a different contractor was sent to patch the wall, which was United Air Temp. They touched up the drywall portion that was needed to be fixed. They were prompt but their patch job was not the best. After I painted, it was still showing and I don't think they sanded it. They probably should have given another coat after sanding but, overall, it wasn't terrible.
Before I signed up, I heard a lot of horror stories about American Home Shield, so my expectation wasn't very high. Then I started using it and I'm very satisfied with the service so far. But when you have an issue, they're not sending you somebody the same day or sometimes, it's not even the next day. You have to wait. But that's part of the nature of the beast. Overall, compared to some of the negative online reviews I've read, I'm very happy with AHS.

I had been getting all these mailers for a long time from American Home Shield and I’d seen the commercials. I kinda took a gutsy feeling and they looked like a good company. I looked on the website as well and I liked everything I saw. I thought they were reputable too, so I went with them. Aside from that, I preferred going with a bigger household name versus the company that I went with before. I had a bad experience with them and I'll never go back to them. I immediately canceled my service with them when I had a confrontation with one of the techs they sent out. At the time, two diamond bracelets came up missing from my house after he went upstairs without me escorting him because I was at a conference call when he came out. I called the warranty company and reported the incident, then the guy was calling me about the situation. I called the company back and told them that they didn't need to say anything to him.
Compared to them, I was very impressed with AHS and I had a really a good experience with them. Their claims process was easy. When I had a problem, I called and scheduled the appointment, then the gentleman from Prime Plumbing came out. We were both veterans and we got along. I also liked that he was very professional. He was dressed nicely, too and he was here a couple of minutes ahead of time. That day, I had an appointment and he was already sitting in the driveway when I got here right around 8 o’clock. And he got right in and fixed that problem. He also showed me what the problem was and told me I shouldn’t be putting certain things down that drain. When I told him all the things I was putting down there, he said that it was not a good idea to put that stuff down there because they'd clog it up and I'd run into this problem again. So, I haven’t been putting any green stems or kale and those heavy sticks and stems in there.

American Home Shield should make sure that the people taking our calls are clear with their English. It would be beneficial with respect to trying to get issues resolved if we are able to be clear the first time when an appliance is needing repair or if it's totally broken and have to be replaced. It was a little cumbersome to deal with all that but as we went through the process, we got those who were able to speak with clarity and that made the process a lot more effective. Sometimes, it's a little difficult to understand those who are overseas but overall, it's okay to deal with them. We've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years now.
We had an appliance claim and that went great. The dryer has been installed but we purchased one that was a little bit more expensive. Home Shield didn't find a dryer that we felt was comparable so they gave us the payout and we found what we desired. Then we had one of Lowe's installers come over. He put it in and everything is functioning like it should so far.
However, we would also like to get callbacks. For instance, our refrigerator is having some issues and Home Shield is gonna replace it but there was a little back and forth on the refrigerator. They could not produce one that was comparable to ours so we went out and we found one at Best Buy, and that's gonna be installed on the 21st. Home Shield had given us a specific email address to reply to and we did that. We've sent them an email indicating that we are going to, as we did with the dryer, take the reimbursement but they had not responded. And that has been over two weeks ago. They didn't call us back and we don't know where the process is at.

We had experienced a leak in our plumbing. I called American Home Shield and they sent out a plumbing company. They had to replace the main pipe in our home, which resulted in a ceiling having to be ripped up and two walls. American Home Shield also sent out E & J Plastering and they were the ones that completed the drywall work.
Things have been fine, thus far. The only caveat is that in between requests, like making a claim to getting in contact with the vendor to then perform the work, it is anywhere from 48 to 96 hours which depending on the situation that you're having can be a really long time. In addition to that, in this particular scenario, we had multiple issues that involved multiple vendors. We had plumbing and we had plastering. That period in between correction of the issue was a little over two weeks just because of having to start the claim, wait for the vendor to call you, schedule the time, have them perform the work then you have to wait 48 hours, call the second claim in, and have American Home Shield call the vendor. That was another four or five days. It can be a little bit of a lengthy process but it is what it is.
Both vendors were great and the communication was good. They really worked with our work schedule which was nice. The only thing is they only finished the work to a rough repair. My husband and I have to do the sanding and repainting of everything which is kind of a pain. In terms of them completing the plumbing then doing the drywall, that took two and a half weeks. But in terms of restoring things back to their original place, we're not even there yet. Other than that, everything has been fine so far. Thankfully, there has been no indication of a new leak. The finishing of the drywall appears to be just fine.

Water was dripping from the AC unit. Next Gen Air was sent out and they were extremely horrible. They made us live without AC for 12 days, and then they were extremely rude. Even when they came to fix, they messed things up. They put the pipe in the condenser backwards, so the dripping didn't stop. It dripped on the back of the pipe, and it probably dripped outside the home. That was a dangerous thing because it could destroy the roof. I've already put a complaint against them and I wanted to get my $125 back.
I waited a month, and then I called American Home Shield again. The A-US Air Conditioning people came. They were amazing and super professional. They fixed the whole thing within 30 minutes. They got a new fan. And I never had to live without an AC more than 30 minutes. Turnaround time was quick and they really knew what they were doing. I've been with American Home Shield about two years. I've been with two other companies. One I was with which is in Florida was very good when they started and they did everything. They always had specials, "Okay. For $29 a unit, we'll come service your unit. We'll come clean your dryer vents," all that kind of stuff you need done. And then, I went with another company. The thermostat was broken. And then, I got in a big argument. "That's not covered. This isn't covered. And everything wasn't covered." And I said, "You're not covered either. You're done."
Then the repair people I talked to said AHS had the best reputation for honoring claims, and that's what's important. I said to the guy with the thermostat, "How come it took so long to get somebody to respond?" I realized they all put this out on a bulletin board, and somebody pulls it off and goes. And he said, "Because if we have any other work, there are certain insurance companies we don't take." He said, "American Home Shield is a good one. We'll take their calls." And these guys aren't dumb. They know which ones are gonna screw them around and which ones aren't.
Everybody, at least in Florida, gets their air conditioner serviced twice a year. We have a service company, and that was who I called when I had a problem because AHS doesn't offer a service option. My service company came out because I thought it was a clogged drain line, but they were just clear. But they said, "No, you have a leak in your coil." They did the whole test and everything. I said I'm not gonna pay them to put a new coil in because I have a policy on that. Plus, it was under warranty. So I called AHS, and then two days later, Integrity came out and they had to order the part. It was a week I was without air conditioning. The problem is that I can't understand why because every air conditioning manufacturer want you to have those things serviced. So, we have arrangements with service companies because you all don't offer the service, and that's a disconnect.
If I called and said, "I need to have my pool serviced," they would say, "Well, call somebody and get it done." When you have a problem like that, the first thing you do is call the people who was there twice a year servicing it. And then, they can't call you for authorization to fix it. Then a third or fourth party comes in and does the repair. The contractor came in, did the repair and left. In two weeks my company would come in and service it.
There are a lot of things with mechanical equipment that you really wanna have serviced and maintained regularly, and using AHS all frustrates that or discourages it, which is counter-intuitive because in their business, they would want to encourage people to service and maintain the equipment and then they would have less breakdowns then. But AHS all did what they said they were gonna do. And as I've learned because I have been with the home maintenance companies for 10 years now, the problem is the design of the policy.

I placed the order with AHS over a weekend and a lady called to make the appointment within the time frame that I was given. Joe Lay & Sons came out early in the week and they were here within the time frame that the lady told me they would be. The guys did the work that I asked them to do. Then they cleaned up their stuff and left. They also told me to go ahead and give them a call back if I had any other issues with that particular problem and they’d look at it. But I’ve not had any issues. Everything went the way that I felt should be expected.

The AC's condenser went bad. The tech said it was good that we called Home Shield because the AC was going bad. If we waited too long, we would've been sweating it out until he got there. I've had to go out on my car before and the AC just blows out hot air, so it must not even be on because we can get fans to do the same thing as blowing air around. It wasn't cooling properly. We set it on a certain level and it just couldn't get there. Something was wrong, so that's why we called Home Shield. Bencraft Mechanical came out whose tech was out before for maintenance. He was professional, knew what he was doing, and very nice.
However, I was very perturbed a long time because we bought the house in '98 and it had an older AC at the time. We live on the beach side where it's got that rusty air. So we figured, "Well, that would be a good time to buy the insurance." A year or two later when the old AC died, I knew if we didn't properly maintain the system, we would be denied. I paid an AC person to come to the house. They were there for about an hour, they took apart the air handling unit and took the whole thing outside, acid washed it, cleaned the coils, everything. I told them I gotta do it once in a while in case the unit died and American Home Shield denied me.
After they did that, the technician came out, looked in the air handling unit and said, "Oh, I see you cleaned one set of the coils recently, but not the other set." And I said, "What?" And he said, "Yeah, there' another set for higher, upper," whatever. But all the coils didn't get cleaned. Therefore, he had to call it in and the whole thing was denied because of that. That cost me five grand to put in a new system. So, I was not too happy with American Home Shield, but I understand that if I didn't maintain the unit properly, that's in the book.
I was really, really perturbed with the AC guy who I specifically hired to do that so that I would not ruin my American Home Shield coverage. I don't know why I didn't sue him because he cost me five grand. I had the invoice that I paid him $450 to come out and service the AC. I was willing to show that to the technician that came out, and they said, "Well, it doesn't really matter what you paid the guy. He didn't do the full job." So I paid $450 for nothing. Then the unit died and I got denied. That was at least seven years ago since this new system got put in. I'm the kind of guy that goes after people if they do me wrong, and I just don't remember now how he wriggled out of it. But I've had other things happen now and then. There were dishwashers or the garbage disposal and the water leaks in the walls. I'm very happy to have Home Shield. I even tried to sell my dad on it who lives three houses down.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Eric. I'm glad to know that your a/c system is up and running as it should Have a great weekend.

American Home Shield recently sent Infinity Plumbing, which is a very good company as far as I’m concerned. But the handling of the claim through American Home Shields' bureaucracy almost made it impossible. It was taken roughly. It took between two and three weeks to fix things. If I would’ve just straight out paid for something, it would’ve been done in three hours’ time, and everything would have been good.
And it was not the first time I’ve experienced that. I’ve experienced that on two other issues. Infinity came out four or five times altogether to complete the job. And the prior times, it was like six times and four times. American Home Shield's process drives these plumbers to first come out, they send AHS some pictures, and AHS would say, “Okay, we’ll get the parts,” then they have to bring the parts out, then they have to try to install them and find out that AHS ordered the wrong parts. And that’s kinda the drill it’s gone through. I’m really disappointed in the time it takes me to get an issue resolved.
Also the first contractor AHS sent out could do nothing with the first call until I paid for upgrading the system to current city code. They could not give me a price. They gave me something verbally, and then later on changed it. They were almost impossible to reach. Every time I called them, I got some lady in a household with screaming kids in the background, but it wasn’t necessarily the same lady. And sometimes I got somebody that’s apparently in a call center somewhere in the Philippines.

I like the way American Home Shield works, so I’m satisfied. They’re top-notch from what I’ve seen and I recommended them to my friend. The people that were sent out by American Home Shield for my AC did a good job. I bought a brand-new townhouse, and come to find out, the AC wasn't installed correctly. The pipe that goes outside the second floor in case the pan overflows was not connected. It was wobbly and it fell off. The AC people that came out (not the people sent by American Home Shield) were fantastic but they they didn’t have any people to put insulation in and to do the walls, so it was very annoying, and they had nothing to do with drying up the attic.

My hot water heater was not getting hot water. I had no hot water for four days. The one, Lincoln Plumbing, that American Home Shield contacted first said he couldn’t do it because it was a mobile home. That was very irritating. I called American Home Shield and as soon as they knew that Lincoln Plumbing would not be able to help me, they got right on getting somebody else. American Home Shield assigned a second contractor, Coastal Maintenance & Plumbing and they were 100% great. The repairman had a little part that he had to put in then the water heater worked fine. I was extremely happy with Coastal Maintenance & Plumbing and very happy with American Home Shield, but they should not ever use Lincoln Plumbing for me again.

The dishwasher was stuck in a cycle. I turned it on at night and when I woke up the next morning, it was still running. So, that was a long cycle and I couldn't turn it off. It wouldn't allow me. And so, I had to unplug it under our sink to make it quit running. I called AHS about it and I got through an automated prompt. It was frustrating because I had to keep saying, "Dishwasher, dishwasher." But that's okay. They said that they would send me a reply. They replied immediately and sent me who was gonna service us and what their number was. And then, National Platinum Service, Inc. reached out to me soon.
But before getting the appointment, National Platinum wanted me to tell them what was wrong and give them my dishwasher serial number so they can order parts if they need to. And I didn't like that. It was frustrating. I felt like they were just using the information I was giving them, which I have no idea except for the fact that my washer didn't work. I wanted them to come out, and then tell me what was wrong. But the guy who came out and serviced our dishwasher was knowledgeable and very responsive to my calls. He was very easy to go along with as far as my time constraints. He worked really well with my hours because I work all day, and he came out quickly. He was very receptive. Whenever he left and I had another issue, he responded quickly. Honestly, it was just a sensor that needed to be dried out. He didn't replace anything, but he did come out.
I tried to run the dishwasher again because he said that the soap I was using was too sudsy, and I never heard of that. But it has run, and then whenever I tried to do a cycle without any dishes, it started to leak through the door. He called me back and made sure that I had stuff in it to make sure that the jets weren't just blowing stuff up against the door and causing it to leak, which after I loaded it, it was fine. Since then, the dishwasher has much improved. Everybody likes it. Overall, American Home Shield has been responsive, respectful and diligent.
Great Aleda! I'm glad the vendor reached out to you in regards to your dishwasher. We look forward to handling your warranty needs. Have good weekend.

A year ago, we had to wait on the phone for 30 minutes or more submitting claims to Home Shield but that has improved. For one of my recent claims, Ultra Heating, Cooling 7 Refrigeration did a good job. The tech even came earlier than what he said which was good for us because at that time, it was still a little bit hot so it was uncomfortable in the house. He had our air conditioning going at an earlier time. After that, our icemaker had a problem and so they sent another guy to fix that and he did a good job, too.
But I've resigned from Home Shield recently because the prices have gone up. When I signed up with them, it was only $45 a month. But this year, it has gone up to $59. Not only that, but they want us to pay in advance the copay for the worker that comes out. They want to deduct it from my credit card even before we see the repairman. The jobs are good but I’ve always complained about the copay. It's $100 each time, so in a matter of three days, I have to pay two people. $100 for the icemaker and $100 for the air conditioning. It’s not their fault that we have these two problems within one week, but the copay of $100 is a little high compared to the other people. $65 is what the other companies are offering. And recently, they wrote me that if the Freon is needed for our heating and air conditioning, they only pay some of it and not the whole thing. Fortunately, we haven’t needed it but I don’t see why there is some kind of limit for that.

The AC is doing wonderful since that repair.
I've had AHS for about 6 years now and I've been very satisfied with the service so far. Whenever we were having an issue, I go online through the work order process and it's very easy to navigate. That was not acceptable, and it took me a few times trying to call back. And it took a while for them to be able to get a release from the original contractor to get a contractor that could come out there within the timeframe. They were at least always polite and patient. The AC was not cooling and we reported it to American Home Shield. Somebody came, looked at it, and sent the report to them. Then they came back saying that the claim was denied and that it's a pre-existing condition. I challenged it and they said that we'd go for a second opinion. But they misled me totally. I never challenged the technician's diagnosis. I challenged American Home Shield's assessment of saying it's a pre-existing condition.
So the second technician came in and reported the same problem of the AC. But he never said there's a pre-existing condition. I communicated with the technician with what his assessment was and asked if he reported it as a pre-existing condition. He said that they didn't care about that and they just reported the problem. Still, the AHS guys are assuming and saying that the other technician reported it as a pre-existing condition. All in all, my experience with them has been terrible. Three weeks later, they started giving me a hard time and then, I had to pay another $75. The contractor went up again and I had to open the washer again. Then, they had this man come last week and he put a part in there. The other people said they couldn’t do it but this man got it. It worked for two days.
The contractor who worked on the washer didn’t say much. My aid was back there and she said she better put some clothes in there to see if it was gonna work but he said it was fine. Then, he started putting clothes in there and washing it, and then no more. Then, I had a problem in the hot water heater. I told them I needed a hot water thing so, they had people come out and I had to give them 500 and something dollars and $85. I had let that go for now, but I want to them to write it down because if they keep giving me a hard time, I’ll just go get a lawyer.
I paid $75 for the hot water heater and the contractor didn’t go back, and I had to pay another $75 to start working on the washer again. I left American Home Shield for not even 30 days and came back. I read the fine print on the other company and they only offered so much amount of money for the AC as opposed to American Home Shield who covered every appliance in my home up to the ceiling fans. I had that but then I had money problems so I had to get a lower level tier but they’ve been great. I won't change it for anybody else. Most recently, Maytag came out and serviced the kitchen stove. It would no longer light and turn on, and I filed that claim on the phone. I've also tried it through the internet but I prefer speaking to somebody and every time I call, they're always great, very knowledgeable and friendly. For this claim, the expectation we were given for when the contractor would come out was like a day or two but Maytag has always been great about getting out there. They're good people and they provide a good level of service.
However, the stove is still down. They replied to me that it was rodent damage so I had to call an exterminator out. I’m thinking the issue is the electric component inside the stove. It was deemed unfixable and right now, we're having to use a plug-in stove and microwave stuff a lot. The item is supposed to be replaced. But I had sent the email back and forgot to put in the model number and the phone number. So AHS reached back out to me and told me that I had to submit that in order to get it going. There were three options: (1) accept the stove that they're offering me, (2) go out and find one then buy it myself and get reimbursed, or (3) get the cash-out. I picked the first one.
I really appreciate you sharing your warranty experience Michael. I'm happy that you've found value in AHS. We look forward to handling your future warranty needs. Have a great weekend.

Professional Service Repair did a great job. They came out for the washer. Originally, I tried to do a claim with American Home Shield also with our refrigerator-icemaker. So, the way the website was, I paid for a service call or whatever and then when I was going back in, it was gonna have me pay again. I was like, ‘Well, I’m not gonna do that. I’ll just ask them when they’re here.” The service guy was great. I love that company. They’re super helpful. He said they’ll get back to me within three to five days and they said I wouldn’t have to pay for another call.
He got the model number, and he said they can’t order anything without hearing from American Home Shield. That was fine but I didn’t know I had to call back in and do another claim thing on it. And so I hadn’t heard anything and it was a couple of weeks ago, so I thought, ”Well, I’m just gonna check.” The guy was very nice. He was the one who scheduled the appointment originally but he said that they’re not allowed to order anything without going through American Home Shield first. So he’s following protocol.
The guy told me today that it was supposed to be an add-on that I was supposed to go back and do so I shouldn’t do it even when they were there because they were already at the house. I was supposed to do it ahead of time. I’m like, “Well, that wasn’t very clear on the website.” And the guy told me today, “Well, you have to check your contract.” I’ve only called in twice in the entire year I’ve had AHS. I looked at my renewal anyway. It went up $300 from what I paid, so I just don’t know that it’s worth it. I probably would use them more next year but if I’m gonna have to pay again another $100 and then do that, I don’t think I need it.
The washer is completely fixed. Ron was the technician, and he was great. In fact, I was glad when they said they would be the ones to do the refrigerator repair because they were so knowledgeable. They said even on that part for the refrigerator, there’s a class action lawsuit and the part’s been recalled. So they were very knowledgeable and I trusted them. As far as AHS, they can improve on being very clear about if you want other services done, there will not be another service fee. It needs to be right there when you’re fixing to pay, because I didn’t see anything. And the fact that their cost went up almost 50%, they lure you in and then your cost goes up.

With American Home Shield, everything is easy and there's no questions asked. So far, it’s been exactly how they said it would be. Everything’s gone well.

I paid my American Home Shield warranty for my home and another detached home, and I was having issues with my hot water heater and then my washing machine had gone out. I was doing laundry at the other house and noticed that the water heater was not working properly there either. So, I had Thomas Brothers Plumbing come up for both at the same time. I expected them within the week, but they came out the next day. They were great.
I submitted my claim online. The website was fine. I've used American Home Shield a lot. So far, it's worked out really great for me. The only issue I ever had is finding a contractor. Because I live in a small town, I have to call a lot to make sure that they look in the biggest city next to me. I submit my claim, and then if I don't see that it's assigned in 48 hours, then I call.

They are great and so far, there have been no leaks. I've been with Home Shield for two years and sometimes, it's difficult for them to find somebody to come out because we live out in the country. But other than that, everything is fine with them. I would recommend them.

We had a transmission problem with the washer. American Home Shield had to send two people out. The first service guy looked at it and said he couldn't fix it. They sent the second one. He's the one that determined that it would need to be replaced, and it was really quick. He was probably there like 20 minutes, figured it out, and then submitted it. I went ahead and purchased a new one and so it's in the process of them sending me a check for the credit. I just had to keep following up with American Shield because it took a while for that information from the technician to get back to American Shield, so they can do the next step which was to submit what washer to purchase or provide me an option for credit.

It seems like it’s all working but if I had known what to do, it would have been cheaper. The $100 service fee was more than it would’ve cost me to fix it myself but it was gonna cost me to look more into things so, it was worth it to have AHS do it.

Sierra Mechanical Service came out for our preseason check-up on my furnace, to make sure everything was okay. The contractor went and checked the furnace, looked at the thermostat. And then, he told me that everything was fine, that we were set up for the winter and I didn’t need any repairs. I went online to request this service but I don’t like the way American Home Shield changed their website because there was a time when you could set up the appointment, you could check whether you wanted morning and evening, or the dates. Now, you can’t do that. They just give you an appointment. I don’t want to have to call to make an appointment. It was much easier to just log on the website before and being able to pick the date that I was available. But overall, it’s excellent with American Home Shield. It’s made life a lot easier. I don’t have to worry about if something breaks down, that I’m gonna have a large expense.

We've been living at our place since 2001 and our rate with AHS has been going up every year. They have also taken a lot of stuff away from us. Now, they don't pay for this and that. When we first started, we never had problems with them. Years ago, I was having trouble with our refrigerator. I talked to somebody higher at American Home Shield and she was great. She did what we needed to be done and gave us what we needed.
More recently, our AC wouldn't get cold at times and the unit upstairs stays hot. We've been paying $900 to over $1000 for cooling so far. We've bought Freon twice and it kept leaking out. One time, it was 900 and some dollars. The next time, it was 1,100 and some dollars. It has been terrible. We've had to keep calling AHS back. One time, we had a tech that didn't wanna go up in the attic where the fans are. He refused service and AHS sent somebody else out. The time before the last time Express Heating & Air came out, the tech changed the tubing around the unit outside. After that, the AC has been working pretty well.

I like what American Home Shield offers. I like the size of the company and everything about them. The only issue I've had is that they have these exceptions and it's very ambiguous. When we had our air conditioner fixed, they said they cover so many dollars per pound of freon they add to it. Yet, they didn't bother to tell us that the cost was way over that. There's some lack of disclosure things that bother me about the policy. I will just have to keep an eye on those because AHS has written things into their policy to make the cost go down. I understand, but it could've been clear.
Other than that, I thought it was worth it. I renewed it this year and I'm not gonna go to another company 'cause I don't know how they'll handle me. AHS is above average. Then the microwave quit heating up things. I submitted online and I like that way in reporting a claim. The company that came out, AT Appliances, as well as their service tech, were great.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for almost 19 years and I’ve always had good luck with them. When I moved here, my water heater was gone and they replaced it immediately. I’ve always had good service from them and so, I don’t have anything to complain about. They have never really disappointed me but it’s just the timing right now. American Home Shield assigned three companies for my claim and two different companies came out. One never showed up but the one that came and replaced parts on it was very good. They came when they said they would be here. The other one came last Thursday and he found out that there was nothing he could do, and he told me he would let American Home Shield know that. I haven't heard anything and I called AHS this morning to see if there had been any decision made about what was going on.
I’ve been about two weeks now without a refrigerator and I’m not able to go to the grocery to buy any groceries. I’m cooking what I can get from day to day because I don’t have any place to store it if I make enough for the next day. I understand their rules and if an item is broken, somebody else has to come in and say what's going on but it’s something that you use every day. It’s kinda disgusting.

We've got some really slow draining pipes. Daryl from Bubba's Plumbing came out and he cleaned out once and it almost immediately started again, so it's doing that again. He replaced the drain out pipe under the kitchen sink and it ran, not great but it was better. And then, when he put the new drain out pipe again, he went ahead and ran the snake through it because it was still draining slowly. He said he went out about 70 foot before he hit a blockage. It did drain a bit better for a few days, but then it started again. Daryl told me he was gonna turn it in to have a jet thing done through the pipes. But they don't do that, so it would have to be someone else. But I never heard anything and it was about a week and a half or so when I requested that somebody come out again. He said he'd get his people to talk to AHS about getting somebody out here with the jet, to clean out that main line.
Daryl told me that he put in the request with AHS and they'd call somebody that does the jet cleaning to push the jet through that main line. We had a little blockage here and that was what he took care of, which was great. Apparently, there's more blockage further down the main line and there's nothing else that he can do. I always schedule online and I was thinking there might be some place that I could put in more problem, mention areas, but their site doesn't give me the option for that. Also, I'm really mad about following anybody that comes out, because I wanted to see what they do, so that I can help by maintaining better without having to call somebody else. And Daryl has been great. He explained everything.

I don't know where to start. These are the worst type of human beings. Actually, they fall below the human level as far as the ethic is concerned. My ice maker on the refrigerator panel was broken. I called my home warranty company and they assigned Premier. A lady called and she told me they are so busy the only time available is eight days later. I told her okay. Eight days later, a technician came out. He is old and looks very lazy. As soon as he comes in, he comes in with a dirty shoe that makes marks all over the floor. There was a doormat he could have rubbed his dirt off the shoe. He came to the kitchen and open the refrigerator. He tried to pull out the ice collector but instead, he dropped the bin and all the ice fell out. He asked me to bring big towels to wipe off the floor. I didn't want to use my big towel so I used a bunch of paper towels to clean the floor. He never said sorry or tried to help clean up.
He couldn't fix anything. He said it supposed to be like this. I told him it was working just a few days ago. He insists it is a design problem so even if it is replaced, it will happen again in a few years. WTF??? I told I still want to get it repaired. I paid $100 deductible to my home warranty company. He said that his company has to request authorization from the warranty company and left. I did not receive any call from either warranty company or the repair company so I checked the website and the work showed as complete. I requested again. The lady from Premier called and she told me she will send a different technician for a second opinion. That is the only way to get authorization from the home warranty company. So I made another appointment.
The same guy came out. he told me the same thing. He said he will request his company to request authorization from the warranty company. I called Premier a day after but the lady said, she did not get the report from the technician. A few days later, it shows as complete. I called Premier and complained. The lady told me the complaint must be filed with the warranty company.
I called the warranty company and found out that they wrote two different technicians who came out and fixed the problem. Well, the first guy fixed it and the second guy confirmed everything was in working order and cleaned the door as a courtesy. That is how Premier reported to the warranty company. All lies. Now that the record shows two different technicians came and confirmed everything is working in good order. The warranty company closed the case and now I am out of $100, missed work twice, and my ice maker still not work. Premier knew exactly how to place this game. I see too many people fall victim to this scam on YELP. Please video shoot everything they do when their technician comes in. I am also looking for people to sue Premier together. Let me know if anyone interested.
Good Morning Michael,

I've been with American Home Shield for almost 20 years and I've always had positive experiences. I've had repairs where the contractors would say that the XYZ is broken and that's gonna be repaired, but they don't cover this much of the Freon, and they don't cover the seals and gaskets, and so I'm out of pocket. We ended up having to pay a little bit, but for the most part, everything is consistent with what was in the contract that we signed. I haven't ever had an experience where they should have covered that and they didn't. It's always been fair.
Douglas Mechanical came out for our AC. The main guy that is usually assigned to our territory is great, very professional. proactive and personable. He explains what's wrong and he'll show you and go through all that in addition to saying, "Here's what needs to be repaired." He also makes preventative recommendations that kinda cut problems off of the past before it ever happens. He did the test and we basically made the determination that in lieu of doing the repairs, it made more sense to just replace the entire AC system. The refrigerant is the old-style refrigerant to where the system's probably 15 to 18 years old. So we just took the AC out and put a new one in, and whatever the claim value was, American Home Shield credited that. It still cost me 10 grand. In lieu of it being $12,000, then that was nice.

My wife and I closed on our first house in August and we've had American Home Shield warranty since then. Submitting a claim was easy. I had an appliance issue and I just called and filed the claim over the phone. Dill Appliance Repair came out, and everything went fine but still kind of disappointing. They came out the first time quickly, but then I had to call after 3 weeks for them to come back out to fix it again. They said they needed to order a part so that puts its own time frame on completing the project. But once the contractor came back out, he was in and out in 30 minutes. He also cleaned up whatever messes that he made, and everything works great now. It was all the way positive interaction but it just kinda sucks that it took that long to get it completed.
Also, when I called AHS the second time to check on the status of the order after it lasted a couple of weeks, the rep said, “Hey, sorry. That’s not through us. That’s through the company, but I’ll call and see if I could figure out what’s going on there,” and then she did. And a few minutes later, I got a call back from Dill Appliance Repair saying, “Hey, sorry. It’s on back order or whatever.” So, every interaction I had on AHS’ end was fantastic.

The pilot light on my water heater kept going out and the water wasn’t getting hot. And then the overflow on the outside of the house was constantly running. It was running nothing but hot water for one full day. So, we had to turn the hot water heater off. And then the next day, it was running cold water practically all day. American Home Shield sent out Heros Plumbing and I was a little skeptical because I had read a lot of bad reviews on Yelp regarding this company. But once I saw what they were talking about, it totally made sense. So, I would definitely not discredit that company.
When the guy came out, he fixed everything, and it’s been working pretty good ever since. My husband interacted with him. What was odd was I got an email with little tips and stuff, and they were talking about, “If you just moved, we could do the locks exchange.” And I haven’t changed my locks yet because I was trying to figure out how I was gonna take the locks off without needing the doors unlocked. So, I’d have locks and then put them on the doors, but I want them fit in one key. I was going through these things, but it’s been three months. So, when I read the tip and they said, “We offer locks.” I was like, “This is great.” So, I called after reading the tip that I got from them. The contractor was really nice. He was on time. He came the same day, and he took his time. He did all the locks. AHS only covered six and I had 10, but I had to pay him $40 to do all of them. I had to pay more money out, but it was okay.

The other group came supposedly to see what was wrong with my refrigerator, and they said that they couldn't find anything wrong, other than the fact that maybe I needed to vacuum out the dirt where the coils were. If that was the case, why didn't they do it? Why were they troubling me and my husband to do it? And they acted like they were in a hurry. Whoever American Home Shield sends out should be capable of doing the work and not in a hurry to get in and get out.

I submitted a claim to Home Shield for a furnace and everybody that I’ve talked to has been really nice, helpful and quick. They've answered all my questions and gotten our claim through. I think it was in 12 hours that I had a call from Ace Heating & Air to come out and they were awesome. They definitely did more than they needed to. We bought our home and our dryer vent wasn’t hooked up. There was a gas line that wasn’t capped. Those little things they didn’t even need to do but they hooked up my dryer vent and taped it up. They also capped off a gas line. On top of that, they were really quick and nice too.

There was a glitch happening up in the attic where there’s a sensor that kept turning off the AC because there was backup coming from moisture. I spoke on the phone with the reps of AHS and they were helpful. AHS then sent a couple of contractors. The first one was courteous but didn't fix the problem. The second one was courteous but not very friendly. He was not a people person. The third contractor, Robert from Myers Comfort Specialists, fixed my issue really well. He knew exactly what was going on and he was a people person. Since then, the AC has been working great.

We had a plumbing issue so I submitted a claim to AHS. They were good. I had called twice because the first plumber couldn’t come out. It was a weekend so they had to wait. And so, AHS called me back and they kept me informed as to the contractors. So I liked the two people that I spoke to from American Home Shield. Hessville Plumbing came out and the gentleman looked at the pump and immediately replaced it, and all went well.

When I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, they had somebody in the area call me back and schedule an appointment. The contractor came out, assessed the problem, came back and fixed it. In the meantime, I wrote a check to AHS for 100 bucks for the deductible and it was pretty seamless after that. I’ve been with AHS for about four years and for my AC unit, Advanced Cooling and Heating came out. It worked for me this time. It turned out to be okay.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for the plug-in in the kitchen, it didn’t have the wire hooked up to it. It was a wire that was off of it and it was something over by the wall. Then outside, where the electric meter is, it’s supposed to be 100-watt, but it’s a 60-watt. We’re just getting half past throughout the house. The guy from Ideal Electric first called LG&E ’cause he can’t open that up. The LG&E does that. He had done fixing everything that was supposed to have been fixed in the house. As soon as LG&E got here, he went up to the power pole and he was right. It was burnt after where the power pole was. He checked everything out and was really good. We got a lot more juice to the house. Before we'd go to bed at night thinking something would catch on fire. The last few nights, we've been going to bed without anything going off or dimming. The lights are good and bright. We’re really happy.

The contractor came out within a week and when he got here, he diagnosed what was wrong within 10 minutes. The unit was DOA. The whole bearing was gone and they replaced the washer. It’s a brand-new Maytag but it went out. I ran it once and then it stopped working. So, I’m waiting on a technician. Overall, it has been three weeks that we have been without a washer.

Our air conditioning unit was not working. I had had the upstairs unit repaired within 60 days so when I went online and the question “Is this in relation to your recent repair, or is it new?” popped up, I said new. But the way it went through to the AC company, it said it was the old one so I ended up having to call in order for them to get the right work order. The rep from AHS was okay though I felt like there was a little bit of misunderstanding with the language. The contractor, Myers, was great. I put the order in on a Friday, and they came out Monday morning. We decided to replace it instead of fixing it and I got a whole new unit on Wednesday.

They’ve always been very courteous, but maybe they're not understanding some of the things that we’re trying to explain to them. There's a little bit of a communication problem. But overall, we’ve been fine with them.
Austin Heating and Air came out for the AC, and our experience went great. They were here in a timely manner, and they knew exactly what the problem was. It was just a blower, which we were very relieved that it wasn’t anything more serious than that. They fixed it within a matter of minutes and was gone. It was very good.

They came out within 24 hours after we set up the appointment.
The tech told me he'd be there between 8 and 9 o'clock and he was right here at 8 o'clock as I pulled in the driveway from work. He came in, looked at everything, told me what the problem was, and took care of it. He made sure I did not have any additional questions. He also checked my system to make sure it was working properly while he was here, and reminded me that I had a 60-day window that if anything else came up with the same item, to just call back and they would come. It was a great experience. I have already recommended American Home Shield to my brother and he's a client of theirs now too.

So, I accepted the install and replacement. The contractor knew what he was doing and the installer made us aware of a leak problem underneath the sink that’s connected to the dishwasher. I contacted the company's home office for scheduling purposes, leaving 2 or 3 voicemails, but they never called back. Finally, about three days later, they called back and had set up a schedule. It was convenient but I had to wait for them to call me back. I even called 3 or 4 times, but they never answered or returned the phone call. So, their communication skills need to be improved.
The guy who came out and did the repair was very good, professional, and helpful. He answered all the questions. I was vacuuming in the bedroom and had the vacuum plugged into the bathroom next to one of the bedrooms. All of a sudden, my vacuum stopped working. I unplugged it, then plugged it back in, and everything went out. All the electricity in the bathroom, in the hallway, and in the two bedrooms that it was all connected to went out. I submitted a claim with AHS and State Electric Company came out. I had an awesome experience with them. It ended up being a loose wire in an outlet that I don't even use and the electrician was great.
But I wasn't happy with the plumbing situation I had a few weeks ago. I worked with American Home Shield's protocol and it was 8:30 at night. They gave me the name of the company that was gonna contact me and I was supposed to give them a half an hour to contact me, but they didn't. And at the time that I called AHS, I kept getting people I couldn't understand. I was already frustrated, so this was making me even more frustrated and that wasn't good. And when I called American Home Shield back, they gave me the name of another company and their rep told me I had to wait for four hours for the contractor to contact me. In the meantime, I couldn't use any of my plumbing at all in my whole house. And the contractor never contacted me. She also said that if they didn't call in four hours, then I could call somebody else, which I did.
I called my own person and they came out. This happened on a Thursday night and they came out Friday morning. But the company I called couldn't rectify the situation. I ended up paying them $178 and the tech said that he was sorry but he didn't know what the problem was. So, I still had no plumbing. I called another plumber on Saturday and when he came out, he did the same exact thing that this kid did that Friday at the tune of $300. It didn't resolve the situation but I ended up paying these people.
So, I was without plumbing from Thursday to Tuesday. A friend of mine who does plumbing finally got out there on Tuesday and he figured out what the problem was. It was another pipe that these other two plumbers didn't even think to look for, and he fixed it. So, I paid him $150. All in all, I spent almost $800 into plumbing. But when I called American Home Shield, they said that they weren't gonna pay for any of it because I didn't use their contractors. When I explained why I didn't, they still said that they couldn't do anything about it.
I've been very pleased with American Home Shield for every other issue I've had come up with my home andthey've been awesome about getting things fixed, other than the plumbing. One of the plumbers that they set me up with even ended up texting me and said they'd be out the following week. I told them I couldn't be without plumbing, not to mention that I couldn't stay at my house so I had to go to a friend of mine's house. So, I was not happy about that. But other than that, I always tell people that if they're buying a new house, they should get American Home Shield or use the insurance on the appliances. I tell them that it's so worth it.

I pay for the service call with American Home Shield with my credit card, which they have on file. So American Home Shield pays the service call then the contractor submits the balance of it and American Home Shield pays them, assuming what they come out for is covered under the warranty. For the 30 years since I moved to Arizona, I never had any problem with American Home Shield. It's all been this summer. I've been having a lot of problems with the people they're sending out. I have to call them to come back out to fix what they initially fixed and then they get sour-faced about it. That is what happened when I called Happy Bear back out again. It was more like, "I've already done this and I don't wanna do it again."
The air conditioner that was not working at full capacity and the experience I had was bad. Happy Bear didn't come to the house. They sent a message up to my house, saying the issue was taken care of, and they left. I didn't get any paperwork. But I'm not feeling so cool in my house so I have a feeling that they did not fix the air conditioner.
My refrigerator also broke and it was a fairly brand new LG refrigerator. A guy came out and left but he didn't tell me why. I'm an asthmatic. I needed my refrigerator fixed. I called and found out they didn't know how long it would take for them to get somebody back here. I wasn't getting any feedback from anybody. When finally, somebody went out here again, they left again. I went, "What is it with you guys?" They said they were trying to find somebody to come and fix my refrigerator. It had been going on for a week and I didn't even know what was the matter with the refrigerator.
Couldn't American Home Shield find an LG technician to fix my LG refrigerator? It was getting crazy. Even so, they should go to California and get one. I pay them enough money. The reason I am still with American Home Shield is because I have two air conditioners that are kinda old. I cannot let American Home Shield go because nobody else would pick me up. The other thing is that the reps at American Home Shield don't speak very good English. I think they're in India.
I went two and a half weeks without a refrigerator, with the service people not coming back. American Home Shield finally told me to go ahead and buy a refrigerator. Then I sent all my paperwork in. But I just got the check a little over a week ago for my refrigerator from two and a half months ago -- after about five or six service calls. That's because I had to call American Home Shield and resubmit my paperwork. Then I finally got a new refrigerator.
I'm having the same problem with my plumbing too -- only this time, they didn't call. When the plumber got out here, it turned out it wasn't covered under my warranty. But American Home Shield had paid for the service call and they recommended these people to come out here. Surely, they had vetted these people. But the same thing happened. The plumber fixed it and split. But now I get this loud noise coming through my house when I flush the toilet. The plumber came out again Saturday morning but didn't even bother to tell me they were leaving. That's when I called American Home Shield.
I realize I wasn't covered under warranty but American Home Shield was the one that sent them out here. I had no phone number for them. They had been out four times and I had fully paid them. They got my money, the $200, but they still haven't fixed my pipes. I also have a bill here that doesn't even have an address on them. They're not answering the phone. All I can do is leave a message. I told American Home Shield that they have their ways of contacting the contractor and that they stand behind the company because they sent them. It had been going on for three weeks at that point. The owner of the company finally called me this morning and they think it's funny. I told them I don't know if it's going to blow up my house with this air and this noise. I'm putting my house on the market. I can't leave my house sounding like that. So we have another appointment coming this Friday and I hope they fix it.
Michelle,

They explained everything that was going on. I’m a home inspector so it helps me out to learn more about heating and cooling if I can. Bill and Kimberly both went over and made sure I knew exactly what was going on the whole time they were here.
The issue required a purchase by Home Shield of a new unit, and then they had to come back out and install it. Also, there was no manual. They looked up the manual online. And no matter what they were testing, the outside unit wasn’t getting a signal from the unit. And it turned out that AHS didn't ship the unit that was purchased to Bill’s Heating and Cooling. It had some kind of a faulty board on it, so there was actually a bad part on the new one.

US Plumbing and XACT Pool and Spa were both phenomenal. The pool guy showed up when he said he was gonna show up. He found exactly what the problem was, fixed it and was on his way. The same thing with the plumbing company. But AHS did send out a different plumbing company who was terrible prior to the one that actually did the job. They showed up one day and made me wait hours and showed up and said that they didn't have the parts. They showed up again on another day and brought gold instead of silver and it was just non-stop. They called again to schedule another appointment, but I told them to send a different plumbing company out or I would find another insurance company.
We were talking about two water lines on the second floor of my house. If these guys were so incompetent they couldn't come out and just take care of a faucet, how competent are they to even do the job and to leave without this thing leaking? I was on the phone for about 45 minutes, and the lady from AHS put me on hold and she'd come back on to tell me that they would send the top install manager over. I told her that I had met all three of those guys and I would only see one of the same faces and it would be a big problem. Then finally, she said that they would send somebody else out. That was the only problem I had with AHS. They've been great, but I know that they have more than one plumber in their back pocket and it shouldn't have come down to a 45-minute phone call and a threat to find another insurance company.

The technician from Jim Bennett’s Plumbing was very skilled. He was young, so he needed some encouragement in certain areas of the work. For example, the drain cleanout was something he hadn’t encountered before because we have a septic tank. And it was an elaborate procedure that he had to go through to be able to get the grease through the main drain line and out into the septic tank. Then the septic tank itself was slow in dissolving the grease. That wasn’t his problem. It was a matter of letting the septic tank do its work. He was very thorough, though, and realized that it was a multifaceted approach that he had to take to get the main line cleaned.
In regard to the grease that was coming out of the kitchen sink, he had to go in through the cutout at the back of the house, through the cutout in the front of the house, and then he even had to take the kitchen sink trap and drain line apart and use a snake in that area to go down into the main drain and push the grease through. And in the process, one of the chrome pipes ruptured, and so he had to replace that with a PVC plastic drain line, which he did very professionally. All of the work he completed was very professional. I’ve been doing do-it-yourself plumbing repairs for years, so I was somewhat familiar with what had to be done. And just a matter of talking to him, kind of encouraging him, giving little a pointer here and there and guidance, he did a beautiful job.
Jim Bennett’s Plumbing has been in Tallahassee for many years, and this particular technician is somebody who had a lot of plumbing experience. He was young, but he was very attentive, very patient, and very thorough in his work. He hadn’t worked on a drain line that involved a septic system before, but with some encouragement, he was able to take care of that. He was able to replace the toilet seals on our toilet. The toilet was leaking around the base when we flushed it, so he was able to put a double seal on that and that solved that problem. He also did a rebuild of a single-handle shower valve that I had bought the kit for. It was a very inexpensive kit, but I hadn’t replaced one in a long time, and felt like it needed somebody that had a lot of patience and was capable of doing a valve cartridge rebuilding. And he did that job and did a beautiful job of it.
I've been with American Home Shield since June of this year. I had dealt with them in the past and had reasonably good success with them, so I thought I’d give them another try. And the reason I had to use them was because we had a Sears Protection Plan but Sears would no longer cover our heating and air condition equipment. So, I felt like I had no choice but to drop Sears plan and go with a plan that would cover the heating and air condition.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience E.J. We are happy to know that we were able to resolve your plumbing claim. Have an amazing week.

With American Home Shield, it was nice to be able to talk to a person as opposed to automation calls because I don't know if anybody received my message or not. It was within a few hours that I received a notification that AHS had chosen the plumbing company and they were coming out. That was Pruitt's Plumbing who had initially come out in September when our water heater had spewed water all over our garage. That time, the tech came out on Sunday after I had the water leak on a Saturday night which I thought was really nice. He put in a new element and we thought that everything was okay.
For my recent claim, we had no hot water in our kitchen area for about three or four days. The tech, James, came and he had to get some step-by-step instructions so he had to contact his office. They walked him through a few things and he put in two new thermostats in the unit. Now, we're getting hot water which is great. I thank AHS and I appreciate them following up with us quickly. When we don't have hot water or some other thing in the house is broken, having to wait for service is painful. I also appreciate Pruitt's for coming out as soon as possible.

If you need repairs done, AHS sends out people that know their jobs. They're very nice, respectable, professional and clean, and they get the job done. I haven't had anyone who came that didn't do a good job so that's one reason why I stick with AHS. I call stuff in with them. I'm still not quite there with the online stuff. I like to speak to people only because I like to know it was done, submitted, and not caught up in a rainstorm. My son said the gentleman from Mac Mac Plumbing was very good. I only spoke to him on the phone because I had to run an errand, but he was good. I have no complaints when I got back in the house. Everything was fixed as it should be. I have given people AHS' information and told them to reach out to AHS.
Hi Gloria,

I’ve been paying American Home Shield for 17 years and I pay every month. Then every time somebody comes out, I have to pay them $75 and that went up from $35 when I started out. Recently, I had a plumbing claim and initially, when Bear Plumbing & Rooter came out, the knob that turns the water off to the toilet was leaking. They changed that out for me but there was also a crack on the toilet and they said that it was done by some force or somebody hit it. But we have a protective thing over it which holds our toiletries, so there was no way that anybody could intensely hit it. At the time, I didn’t realize that they were reporting that, then American Home Shield said they’d deny my claim. I told them I needed somebody else to come see it because nobody put any force to it. It just cracked.
So, they sent someone else out today from Clogmaster and they said they were gonna take pictures. But they didn’t take pictures and I hadn’t tried to make them take pictures because I was trying to show them where it could possibly have come from. Then AHS called today and said that they would deny my claim again. We asked them about the pictures as the tech said he was gonna show them the pictures. Also, there’s no imprint of any kind of force anywhere and it’s a natural crack that happened, so it was very upsetting. I couldn’t understand why this is going on and they weren’t believing us.
Other than that, the first couple of representatives I spoke to at AHS were fine. But the one today was saying that she was taking the word of the contractor. However, the contractors really didn’t talk to us or said that anything happened. They weren’t clear about what they were reporting and it was very disturbing for people to say that you’re lying. But I wasn't. We also asked for a supervisor but she said they weren’t available and they would call us back within 24 to 48 hours.
Thank you for being apart of the AHS family for 17 years Donald. I apologize for the inconvenience that we've caused. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to follow up with unresolved warranty concerns.

BB Lewis Plumbing came out and their contractor was good. The toilet had a motor inside of it, and it started leaking. Evidently, there was a recall on particular parts and he ended up having to replace the whole toilet because it had been there for 20 years. Whenever he tried to take it apart, the washers were all corroded together and it cracked the porcelain. So, there was no way to avoid it. He ended up having to cut them off, and he ordered a replacement. We also had an air conditioning issue some time in September wherein a condenser went out on the air conditioning unit, and we had to wait for four days before the contractor could come out. Still, we're very satisfied with American Home Shield.

Putting in a claim online with American Home Shield was easy, but I could not find my account number, so therefore I had to call. Their reps are always great. I’ve been with AHS for over 20 years. However, I called Crispy Air, the people that came out on Saturday, early Sunday and asked them about putting in the claim. And then when I called this morning they said they were just about to put it in to American Home Shield to get it approved for authorization since it was a pricier call. Aside from that, I was happy with the Crispy. I would recommend AHS. I’ve actually recommended them to a lot of people.

When I first had to call American Home Shield with our plumbing issue, talking to the lady was awful. So I would never call and talk to a representative again, but I will do everything online. When I had a spa issue, I did my claim online and JC Pools came in. I had no problem with them. They resolved the issue. American Home Shield is fine. But I would not have purchased it if the sellers have not purchased it for us.

I submitted a claim through the American Home Shield website by just hitting the request button and then selecting the issues. A nice feature that they have is you can select the contractor instead of just defaulting. ‘Cause it defaulted to Roto-Rooter, but looking up Mega Star Plumbing, they had a much better rating. So, it was a nice feature that they added to the service request process. Mega Star Plumbing contacted me the same day and then they came out the following day. They fixed the wax seal on the bottom of our toilet in our master bathroom. They were done in about 15 minutes and they showed up on time, so they did a really good job. They were very professional. I never got the feeling that they were rushing the job. There were two of them that were working on it, so they worked pretty well together. Now we don’t have to bother our daughters to use the toilet.

Since they've been out, the dishwasher has been performing good. I have five American Home Shield accounts, and my claims experience was not always good. But for this event, the experience was good.

American Home Shield had good rates and I read good things about them. I have a claim regarding plumbing and the contractor, Desmoni, absolutely did the job. They were quick and efficient. They showed up when they said they were going to and everything was fine. This plumbing was my second service call. The first one was for my range. I had trouble with my burner. I called since May of this year, and every time I called, I reported the problem and then they said they would get on it and call me back but they would never call me back so I would call again, and then I would speak to another person, and another.
I even spoke to a customer service supervisor and she was a customer service specialist, I think. I told her the whole problem and she was sorry that happened to me and told me she would see what she could do for me and would call me back. She never called me back. For months and months all the way from May until the end of July, I must have called 30 times. I was on hold for an hour and then they wouldn’t do anything or they would hang up on me and I’d have to call again. I’ve already paid for my service call. At the end of July, they said that instead of fixing it, they were gonna replace it. That was good except that it took over a month and a half just to get it. I finally got my stove replaced and then I had to find someone to install it. And that was barely installed this past Saturday on October 5.
I was the one who picked the stove. It was propane but the oven is electric. I didn’t know I needed 220. So now I have a stove that it took six months to get and I still can’t use it. I can use the stove but not the oven. And American Home Shield won’t cover it. And then the company that installed it was absolutely horrid because they said they were gonna be out Saturday at 8:00 in the morning. I had to travel 100 miles one way to see my mother and my husband had to sleep in 'cause he works nights. I asked them if they could come later. They said no, it was either at 8:00 in the morning or I reschedule. I’ve been waiting six months for it so I said I didn't want to reschedule. But the technician never showed up until almost 11:00 in the morning and he said that their office told him that I had requested a later time. I said I did but they told me that they couldn't come out later so I canceled my trip.
That person in the office, Jack's Appliance, didn't call me that they were coming later. My husband ended up getting up anyway because he thought I did go in. It was horrible and I was very upset. The water heater experience was great because they took care of that within days whereas my stove, it’s been six months and I still don’t have it. But when I spoke to Desmoni Plumbing, they actually told me that American Home Shield is one of the best that they work with. Now, I don’t think I’m gonna change companies.

The first time was to assess it. The second time was to install some parts, and that still didn’t fix it. So, they sent him back the third time to install more parts, which still didn’t fix it. The last I heard they were closing it out and I was supposed to hear something about a replacement, but I have not heard anything yet.

I requested service in my central AC and it’s been over 10 days in FL heat, nothing has been done. They use non-reputable contractors that don’t care for their business. First contractor came out and told us that he will order part and replace it the next day. 5 days later he cancelled, the next 2 contractors never called back. The agent tried to send an appliance repair company to my house to fix my Central AC, when I called them, they told me that they don’t service AC units. I am guessing American Home Shield does not compensate these contractors fairly so they are not motivated to accept their business.
On my 4th call (calls were hour each) the agent hung up on because I requested to speak to a manager. Getting through their phone system is frustrating to say the least. One thing I should have considered when purchasing a Home Warranty is, if their customer service calls are answered in the US or abroad. There seems to be a major cultural disconnect when dealing with people in India. I do not want to support companies that outsource their customer service. Not a happy customer.

So if you have high appliances all they have to say is it is a commercial appliances then they won't have to repair it. Funny how they never tell you that information when you're buying their worthless insurance. Do yourself a favor. If you buy high end appliances don't be fooled. They will not cover it. AHS ignored the second company's report & closed the case leaving me with a non working fan.

American Home Shield is a joke! I attempted to use this company for 2 home issues - both of which were plumbing issues. The first issue was a stoppage somewhere in the plumbing that caused sewage backup in our bathrooms. After a long discussion with them to make sure the situation was covered, they reassured me that it was covered and I would only have to pay the deductible. They sent someone out the same day. Upon the contractor showing up, AHS advised them that it, indeed, was NOT covered because they had to remove the toilet from the bathroom floor to get to the stoppage, then put the toilet back in place. This ended up costing me an ADDITIONAL $350! After doing research after the fact, I could have hired a plumber on my own and spent half of what I paid through the AHS warranty.
The 2nd issue was a broken pipe under the kitchen sink which resulted in my entire house flooding. The pipe broke below the water shut off so I couldn't just shut off the water to the sink - we had to kill the water to the entire house. I call AHS, who proceeds to tell me that my situation is not an emergency (note: 2+ inches of water throughout my whole house and no water with 2 kids in the home) and told me the soonest they would send someone out was 72 hours from the time I called. You cannot be serious....if a flooded home and no water due to a broken pipe is not an emergency, what exactly is?!
After this situation, I opted to cancel my policy. Upon cancellation, they only refunded me half of what they should have refunded me. I've been constantly fighting with this joke of a company for the last 1+ months trying to resolve this, but all they want to do is point fingers and place all of the blame on me. If you are looking for a reliable home warranty company, this is not the company to use. Run away, as fast as you can, and don't ever look back. They will tell you that your issue is covered, then find every excuse in the book not to cover it once you've paid your deductible and the contractor is there. If I could give this company a lower rating than a 1 star, I would.
Thanks for sharing your feedback as I hate to hear the warranty was not beneficial to you. I apologize for the the any inconvenience we might've caused. Have a great week.

It was a bad capacitor, so he had to go up into the attic to get there because it’s just a one-story house and the furnace is up there. He replaced the capacitor, and connected wire for me that I had asked him to connect.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield by phone. The representative I spoke with was very good. She listened to what I was saying, she asked what the problem was, and she offered help. A lot of times, I see that American Home Shield is very picky like, "No, no, no, that person came to fix." They won't even come back and resolve the issue. But because I have two contractors, I requested that they send the other contractor. RG Plumbing had come out for the other issues, and they had been very professional. So then I requested, “Can you send RG Plumbing for this one too?” The AHS rep agreed to do that even though RG Plumbing wasn't the one who fixed the initial problem.
The initial issue was also a plumbing leak. It was fixed by another provider of AHS. The guy just came, put caulk around the faucet and left. And even when I told him that it was leaking from another thing, he said it was fixed and there are no problems. He left. It wasn't fixed and it was leaking. I had to go on vacation. And so, I had to turn off water in the whole house because in just three days, there was like 1/8 of a bucket of water under the sink. I would be gone for a long time, and it’s gonna go through and mess up all my floors.

The computer in my dishwasher went out and that was replaced. I was satisfied with the service even though AHS and their contractor were a little slow in that they ordered the parts and it was almost a week and a half before their tech came back.
Another time, I had an issue with my refrigerator. AHS' contractor came out and said that AHS had to replace the refrigerator. I wasn't happy with that but then I just told them to replace it. However, it took almost 28 days to get a refrigerator. Sears brought out a refrigerator and a week later but it was broken when it got here. I had to call AHS and harass them but they told me that I had to wait on Sears. I could have bought one instead. Right now, I have a leak and they’re giving me grief with that. I tried at this time to submit my claims via online and it was sticky. I tried to be more tech-savvy, but chatting just doesn’t seem to move as fast. What you do is you go on there and you go, “Okay, I’m gonna do it chat.” So, I thought I could handle everything via chatting, but it was just slow and awkward. I don’t know if the girl was handling two or three clients at once, but it was very stumbly. I would sit there, I’d type in, “Okay. Yeah, I have a problem with the upstairs toilet and it’s leaking between the bowl and the tank.” And then maybe 150 seconds later, she might get back to me and then reiterate what the problem was.
That was our first time trying that, and it still ended up being on the phone. All of a sudden, the chat just went from here, “Oh, I gotta call you,” and it ended up on the phone anyway. But it had to end up on the phone because they wanted the credit card information over the phone instead of via chat, and I could see that. I wasn’t doing it via phone app. I was on my laptop. The rep did well. She did everything fine. Everything came out well. It was just sticky. We could’ve got it done in one-third of the time.
Patriot Plumbing came out and did a fine job. They diagnosed it well and repaired it in a timely fashion and it no longer leaks. We’re happy. We haven't had to call AHS many times, but the few times we did, everything got done and done well. Going online was just a little sticky for a person that is older. AHS is so used to calling someone and getting something accomplished in a relatively short manner. We hardly use them so we always sit there and think that we’re overpaying them. But when they do something, it does get done quickly.
