American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

The electrical outlet in my bathroom wasn't working. I submitted a claim to AHS and SJDI Electric came out. I was given a window when to expect the tech and the tech did a good job when he came out. He replaced the outlet button that you click to reset it and I can use my outlet in the bathroom now.

I had a water leak in the attic and after making a claim with Home Shield, someone from Heros Plumbing came the next day. I did this claim online and the process was pretty easy. The contractor was quite professional and did a great job. Things have been going very well since the repair.

I like what American Home Shield offers. I like the size of the company and everything about them. The only issue I've had is that they have these exceptions and it's very ambiguous. When we had our air conditioner fixed, they said they cover so many dollars per pound of freon they add to it. Yet, they didn't bother to tell us that the cost was way over that. There's some lack of disclosure things that bother me about the policy. I will just have to keep an eye on those because AHS has written things into their policy to make the cost go down. I understand, but it could've been clear.
Other than that, I thought it was worth it. I renewed it this year and I'm not gonna go to another company 'cause I don't know how they'll handle me. AHS is above average. Then the microwave quit heating up things. I submitted online and I like that way in reporting a claim. The company that came out, AT Appliances, as well as their service tech, were great.

Everything went well with my recent AC claim that I submitted to American Home Shield. I went them and Affordable Comfort and Construction came out. The tech was very professional and competent. Thus far, I've been enjoying working with AHS. Everything has been working well with them.

Certified Heating and Air called within 24 hours after I called in a claim to Home Shield for my AC. Other than it was a couple of days when they had an opening, they were able to communicate well. They handled everything just right and so the AC has been going fine since the repair.

Our AC is not working totally. It in’t cool enough. I gave American Home Shield a call to submit a claim. Their reps were nice and professional. Sirius Plumbing and Air Conditioning was sent and they’re awesome. We are still working on the unit. We are going for the replacement and upgrading program, so we had to submit the order to American Home Shield. It got through, so now we are waiting for the unit. We've been waiting for five days, and it’s fine because I understand it takes a while to get everything ready.

I had a clogged pipe, so the water was backing up to the AC. I filed a claim on American Home Shield's website and the process was simple. Then I received an email that said the tech would be out within 24 hours, so that was quick. And I got a call the next day, so there was no problem. Also, the contractor who came out was really good and he fixed the leak. He was fast and courteous, too.

When I first spoke with AHS, I was pleased with their response. Also, they're efficient and quick. I renewed my warranty for another year. For a recent claim, The Lindsay Company came out and they were very professional. They got here right in time and solved the issue quickly.

We've been living at our place since 2001 and our rate with AHS has been going up every year. They have also taken a lot of stuff away from us. Now, they don't pay for this and that. When we first started, we never had problems with them. Years ago, I was having trouble with our refrigerator. I talked to somebody higher at American Home Shield and she was great. She did what we needed to be done and gave us what we needed.
More recently, our AC wouldn't get cold at times and the unit upstairs stays hot. We've been paying $900 to over $1000 for cooling so far. We've bought Freon twice and it kept leaking out. One time, it was 900 and some dollars. The next time, it was 1,100 and some dollars. It has been terrible. We've had to keep calling AHS back. One time, we had a tech that didn't wanna go up in the attic where the fans are. He refused service and AHS sent somebody else out. The time before the last time Express Heating & Air came out, the tech changed the tubing around the unit outside. After that, the AC has been working pretty well.

I called to submit the claim to American Home Shield for the washer and the contractor came the first time to check it out and see what it needed. Then, they came three more times after that, and they said I needed a new washer. It took me a while and my son and I both called, and the lady said that everything would be alright. Three weeks later, they started giving me a hard time and then, I had to pay another $75. The contractor went up again and I had to open the washer again. Then, they had this man come last week and he put a part in there. The other people said they couldn’t do it but this man got it. It worked for two days.
The contractor who worked on the washer didn’t say much. My aid was back there and she said she better put some clothes in there to see if it was gonna work but he said it was fine. Then, he started putting clothes in there and washing it, and then no more. Then, I had a problem in the hot water heater. I told them I needed a hot water thing so, they had people come out and I had to give them 500 and something dollars and $85. I had let that go for now, but I want to them to write it down because if they keep giving me a hard time, I’ll just go get a lawyer.
I paid $75 for the hot water heater and the contractor didn’t go back, and I had to pay another $75 to start working on the washer again. My daughter called the day before yesterday, and the reps from AHS said they were gonna call her back but they haven’t. I am still waiting for my washer to be taken care of and I’m calling them back, because I wanna find out what they plan on doing now. AHS was good but now, I’m gonna get out of it as soon as I can.

The pool filter through the pool pump wasn’t priming and it wasn’t running dry at night. The contractor took care of the problem and everything went smoothly. It seems like it’s all working but if I had known what to do, it would have been cheaper. The $100 service fee was more than it would’ve cost me to fix it myself but it was gonna cost me to look more into things so, it was worth it to have AHS do it.

We had a stoppage in one of the toilets and the tenant had been watching it a couple days and noticed that it wasn't behaving properly, so they reported it. I made the claim at American Home Shield via phone and everything was fine. My problem is the initial contact. It's very difficult sometimes to reach somebody. You're put on hold and your phone call is cut off, and sometimes it's very hard to get the claim in place.

I had another warranty company, and I was not impressed with them. I’ve had American Home Shield years past at another property, and they seemed to be pretty legit and I like their fast service. The people they send out are usually pretty good. AHS sent out Whirlpool when I had a claim and they did an excellent job. The tech was on time. He was very knowledgeable and very professional too.

The contractor American Home Shield sent for my Breville oven was very efficient and got his job done in about one hour. He replaced the electronical part of our oven and replaced the dead light bulb. He also explained what was going on. For me, it was just the oven repair, but if that was something about the furnace in the cold winter, I'd need some protection. I told my friends that if they were buying a new house or just got a new house, they should consider AHS.

I submitted a claim online for a hot water heater leak. American Home Shield assigned Patrick & Son to do the claim, and they got ahold of me within 24 hours. They did good and they communicated well. Once the tech came out to the house, he was done in a matter of couple hours, so everything went well. Everything's working as expected. With American Home Shield, everything is easy and there's no questions asked. So far, it’s been exactly how they said it would be. Everything’s gone well.

I paid my American Home Shield warranty for my home and another detached home, and I was having issues with my hot water heater and then my washing machine had gone out. I was doing laundry at the other house and noticed that the water heater was not working properly there either. So, I had Thomas Brothers Plumbing come up for both at the same time. I expected them within the week, but they came out the next day. They were great.
I submitted my claim online. The website was fine. I've used American Home Shield a lot. So far, it's worked out really great for me. The only issue I ever had is finding a contractor. Because I live in a small town, I have to call a lot to make sure that they look in the biggest city next to me. I submit my claim, and then if I don't see that it's assigned in 48 hours, then I call.

American Home Shield offered the $75 furnace check and E&A Mechanical came out for the check-up. The interaction with them was great and prior to that, we had somebody come out a couple of times for claims, which were all okay.

The AC was not cooling and we reported it to American Home Shield. Somebody came, looked at it, and sent the report to them. Then they came back saying that the claim was denied and that it's a pre-existing condition. I challenged it and they said that we'd go for a second opinion. But they misled me totally. I never challenged the technician's diagnosis. I challenged American Home Shield's assessment of saying it's a pre-existing condition.
So the second technician came in and reported the same problem of the AC. But he never said there's a pre-existing condition. I communicated with the technician with what his assessment was and asked if he reported it as a pre-existing condition. He said that they didn't care about that and they just reported the problem. Still, the AHS guys are assuming and saying that the other technician reported it as a pre-existing condition. All in all, my experience with them has been terrible. I've been talking to them and I even called yesterday. It's not about money. They're simply skipping and I don't like it. As a client, I should not have these things.

I left American Home Shield for not even 30 days and came back. I read the fine print on the other company and they only offered so much amount of money for the AC as opposed to American Home Shield who covered every appliance in my home up to the ceiling fans. I had that but then I had money problems so I had to get a lower level tier but they’ve been great. I won't change it for anybody else. Most recently, Maytag came out and serviced the kitchen stove. It would no longer light and turn on, and I filed that claim on the phone. I've also tried it through the internet but I prefer speaking to somebody and every time I call, they're always great, very knowledgeable and friendly. For this claim, the expectation we were given for when the contractor would come out was like a day or two but Maytag has always been great about getting out there. They're good people and they provide a good level of service.
However, the stove is still down. They replied to me that it was rodent damage so I had to call an exterminator out. I’m thinking the issue is the electric component inside the stove. It was deemed unfixable and right now, we're having to use a plug-in stove and microwave stuff a lot. The item is supposed to be replaced. But I had sent the email back and forgot to put in the model number and the phone number. So AHS reached back out to me and told me that I had to submit that in order to get it going. There were three options: (1) accept the stove that they're offering me, (2) go out and find one then buy it myself and get reimbursed, or (3) get the cash-out. I picked the first one.

Sierra Mechanical Service came out for our preseason check-up on my furnace, to make sure everything was okay. The contractor went and checked the furnace, looked at the thermostat. And then, he told me that everything was fine, that we were set up for the winter and I didn’t need any repairs. I went online to request this service but I don’t like the way American Home Shield changed their website because there was a time when you could set up the appointment, you could check whether you wanted morning and evening, or the dates. Now, you can’t do that. They just give you an appointment. I don’t want to have to call to make an appointment. It was much easier to just log on the website before and being able to pick the date that I was available. But overall, it’s excellent with American Home Shield. It’s made life a lot easier. I don’t have to worry about if something breaks down, that I’m gonna have a large expense.

We've got some really slow draining pipes. Daryl from Bubba's Plumbing came out and he cleaned out once and it almost immediately started again, so it's doing that again. He replaced the drain out pipe under the kitchen sink and it ran, not great but it was better. And then, when he put the new drain out pipe again, he went ahead and ran the snake through it because it was still draining slowly. He said he went out about 70 foot before he hit a blockage. It did drain a bit better for a few days, but then it started again. Daryl told me he was gonna turn it in to have a jet thing done through the pipes. But they don't do that, so it would have to be someone else. But I never heard anything and it was about a week and a half or so when I requested that somebody come out again. He said he'd get his people to talk to AHS about getting somebody out here with the jet, to clean out that main line.
Daryl told me that he put in the request with AHS and they'd call somebody that does the jet cleaning to push the jet through that main line. We had a little blockage here and that was what he took care of, which was great. Apparently, there's more blockage further down the main line and there's nothing else that he can do. I always schedule online and I was thinking there might be some place that I could put in more problem, mention areas, but their site doesn't give me the option for that. Also, I'm really mad about following anybody that comes out, because I wanted to see what they do, so that I can help by maintaining better without having to call somebody else. And Daryl has been great. He explained everything.

I had to get a new rack for my dishwasher because it didn't fit and wouldn't roll. It had to be ordered so it’d fit properly and the waiting time was only three days which wasn't very long. When submitting the claim, I logged into their app, put in what was damaged and what I needed, and then it immediately connected me to a service in my area. Then I was called within 24 to 48 hours. Overall, I had a good experience with AHS.

I called American Home Shield for the leaky faucet, and then the contracted people called me. The service went fine but I thought that they were gonna check the other two faucets because the other ones needed the same thing done but, apparently, they did not. I called them, and they said they did the faucet. I was assuming that when I showed it to them, they were gonna do all of them.

I did a claim for my hot water heater and Pierremont Plumbing and Gas came out and checked. They had to order a part and came back the following week to install it. This claim went very well for me. However, when I call American Home Shield, I seem to always get someone that has a very bad accent whom I could hardly understand.

The furnace wasn’t working so I got online with AHS and All Season got ahold of me the next business day, and they were there the following day. I have a remote-operated deadbolt and they just came in, did it and were gone in 15 minutes.

I sold my previous home and wanted to cancel the contract. I was told I would have to pay a 46 cancellation fee even though the property had been sold three months ago. Seeing that I've not had a service request in the last year I felt this fee should have been waived. When I requested to talk to a manager about the situation I was placed on hold for over an hour before I hung and and called back.

We had American Home Shield for a year and it was the biggest waste of money. I was lied to and was cheated out of my money. They renewed my account without ever notifying me and raised the cost. They are terrible and the customer representative had no clue on how to handle my call or even how to proceed on helping me. Don't work with this company. This would be one of the biggest mistakes of your life.

The company sent out a new technician from a different company. The new technician found the problem in about 10 minutes. He went back to order parts. He came back out about a week later with a new part. The tech replaced the part and it is working in good order. Finally, it worked. I had a dispute with American Home Shield at the beginning but eventually got the result I was expecting. They should terminate some of their horrible technicians and crooked vendors.

I don't know where to start. These are the worst type of human beings. Actually, they fall below the human level as far as the ethic is concerned. My ice maker on the refrigerator panel was broken. I called my home warranty company and they assigned Premier. A lady called and she told me they are so busy the only time available is eight days later. I told her okay. Eight days later, a technician came out. He is old and looks very lazy. As soon as he comes in, he comes in with a dirty shoe that makes marks all over the floor. There was a doormat he could have rubbed his dirt off the shoe. He came to the kitchen and open the refrigerator. He tried to pull out the ice collector but instead, he dropped the bin and all the ice fell out. He asked me to bring big towels to wipe off the floor. I didn't want to use my big towel so I used a bunch of paper towels to clean the floor. He never said sorry or tried to help clean up.
He couldn't fix anything. He said it supposed to be like this. I told him it was working just a few days ago. He insists it is a design problem so even if it is replaced, it will happen again in a few years. WTF??? I told I still want to get it repaired. I paid $100 deductible to my home warranty company. He said that his company has to request authorization from the warranty company and left. I did not receive any call from either warranty company or the repair company so I checked the website and the work showed as complete. I requested again. The lady from Premier called and she told me she will send a different technician for a second opinion. That is the only way to get authorization from the home warranty company. So I made another appointment.
The same guy came out. he told me the same thing. He said he will request his company to request authorization from the warranty company. I called Premier a day after but the lady said, she did not get the report from the technician. A few days later, it shows as complete. I called Premier and complained. The lady told me the complaint must be filed with the warranty company.
I called the warranty company and found out that they wrote two different technicians who came out and fixed the problem. Well, the first guy fixed it and the second guy confirmed everything was in working order and cleaned the door as a courtesy. That is how Premier reported to the warranty company. All lies. Now that the record shows two different technicians came and confirmed everything is working in good order. The warranty company closed the case and now I am out of $100, missed work twice, and my ice maker still not work. Premier knew exactly how to place this game. I see too many people fall victim to this scam on YELP. Please video shoot everything they do when their technician comes in. I am also looking for people to sue Premier together. Let me know if anyone interested.

The tech from My Good Plumber was fantastic. I was impressed by his attitude, his promptness and he was professional. I can’t say that much for the other group. The other group came supposedly to see what was wrong with my refrigerator, and they said that they couldn't find anything wrong, other than the fact that maybe I needed to vacuum out the dirt where the coils were. If that was the case, why didn't they do it? Why were they troubling me and my husband to do it? And they acted like they were in a hurry. Whoever American Home Shield sends out should be capable of doing the work and not in a hurry to get in and get out.

Our air conditioning unit was not working. I had had the upstairs unit repaired within 60 days so when I went online and the question “Is this in relation to your recent repair, or is it new?” popped up, I said new. But the way it went through to the AC company, it said it was the old one so I ended up having to call in order for them to get the right work order. The rep from AHS was okay though I felt like there was a little bit of misunderstanding with the language. The contractor, Myers, was great. I put the order in on a Friday, and they came out Monday morning. We decided to replace it instead of fixing it and I got a whole new unit on Wednesday.

We had a plumbing issue so I submitted a claim to AHS. They were good. I had called twice because the first plumber couldn’t come out. It was a weekend so they had to wait. And so, AHS called me back and they kept me informed as to the contractors. So I liked the two people that I spoke to from American Home Shield. Hessville Plumbing came out and the gentleman looked at the pump and immediately replaced it, and all went well.

Submitting claims to AHS over their website has been easier. During my recent claim, I had Fruge Air Conditioning as the contractor AHS assigned and they responded right away. I put in the claim that I ended up resolving a couple of weeks prior with a company that didn't leave a good impression and this time, Fruge was much better. Now everything is working fine.

This is my second year with American Home Shield. Their online claims process has been easy. All American Plumbing and Rooter came in. I told them what happened, and the tech said, “Oh, I know exactly what it is. Let me show you.” He showed me, walked me through what he did, and sure enough, that’s what it was. He wasn’t even here three minutes. I would recommend Home Shield and I got them for both of my kids. I have been with Home Shield since I got in this house back in 2015. I submit claims on the phone and it’s pretty simple. They're expeditious. If I called them up, I have something, and if it was something I didn’t understand, I could always call them back. They always explained it.

My wife called American Home Shield in the morning and Expert Pools was there in the afternoon. My wife said she loved the tracking system that she knew exactly where the guy was. The guy called when he was a half-hour out, so the communication was really good. He had the part in his truck to fix the problem. It was a really smooth situation and was fixed within that same day. It was awesome. I've used the pool heater quite a bit since it was fixed, and it’s been all good. I’ve recommended American Home Shield to some people I know.

I've been with American Home Shield for almost 20 years and I've always had positive experiences. I've had repairs where the contractors would say that the XYZ is broken and that's gonna be repaired, but they don't cover this much of the Freon, and they don't cover the seals and gaskets, and so I'm out of pocket. We ended up having to pay a little bit, but for the most part, everything is consistent with what was in the contract that we signed. I haven't ever had an experience where they should have covered that and they didn't. It's always been fair.
Douglas Mechanical came out for our AC. The main guy that is usually assigned to our territory is great, very professional. proactive and personable. He explains what's wrong and he'll show you and go through all that in addition to saying, "Here's what needs to be repaired." He also makes preventative recommendations that kinda cut problems off of the past before it ever happens. He did the test and we basically made the determination that in lieu of doing the repairs, it made more sense to just replace the entire AC system. The refrigerant is the old-style refrigerant to where the system's probably 15 to 18 years old. So we just took the AC out and put a new one in, and whatever the claim value was, American Home Shield credited that. It still cost me 10 grand. In lieu of it being $12,000, then that was nice.

My wife and I closed on our first house in August and we've had American Home Shield warranty since then. Submitting a claim was easy. I had an appliance issue and I just called and filed the claim over the phone. Dill Appliance Repair came out, and everything went fine but still kind of disappointing. They came out the first time quickly, but then I had to call after 3 weeks for them to come back out to fix it again. They said they needed to order a part so that puts its own time frame on completing the project. But once the contractor came back out, he was in and out in 30 minutes. He also cleaned up whatever messes that he made, and everything works great now. It was all the way positive interaction but it just kinda sucks that it took that long to get it completed.
Also, when I called AHS the second time to check on the status of the order after it lasted a couple of weeks, the rep said, “Hey, sorry. That’s not through us. That’s through the company, but I’ll call and see if I could figure out what’s going on there,” and then she did. And a few minutes later, I got a call back from Dill Appliance Repair saying, “Hey, sorry. It’s on back order or whatever.” So, every interaction I had on AHS’ end was fantastic.

The washing machine was making a loud banging noise when it was on and my wife made the claim online to American Home Shield. The contractor came out within a week and when he got here, he diagnosed what was wrong within 10 minutes. The unit was DOA. The whole bearing was gone and they replaced the washer. It’s a brand-new Maytag but it went out. I ran it once and then it stopped working. So, I’m waiting on a technician. Overall, it has been three weeks that we have been without a washer.

Doing the claim online was very convenient. It was a lot easier than having to go through phone calls and different people and switching from one person to another. I really liked the plumber too. He was a good one. I'd call him back even if I didn't have American Home Shield. He was very friendly and knowledgeable.

My AHS claim for a plumbing issue started off weird because the first time I submitted my claim online, nobody contacted me. A week and a half later, I called AHS back, and then HCD contacted me a day later. As soon as I spoke to an actual person, the problem was resolved right away. The contractor came out, did the inspection and noticed that there was a crack in the water heater, and then they scheduled another appointment. That claim went awesome. Everything went real smooth and they were really cool people, too. There was a time issue but it wasn’t that big of an issue. Luckily, the water heater didn’t crack. For almost four years that I've been with AHS, I never had a problem with them. They’ve always been there for me.

I just purchased a house and my agent gave American Home Shield to me as a gift. Years ago, I was also with American Home Shield. My most recent claim went well. What was odd was I got an email with little tips and stuff, and they were talking about, “If you just moved, we could do the locks exchange.” And I haven’t changed my locks yet because I was trying to figure out how I was gonna take the locks off without needing the doors unlocked. So, I’d have locks and then put them on the doors, but I want them fit in one key. I was going through these things, but it’s been three months. So, when I read the tip and they said, “We offer locks.” I was like, “This is great.” So, I called after reading the tip that I got from them. The contractor was really nice. He was on time. He came the same day, and he took his time. He did all the locks. AHS only covered six and I had 10, but I had to pay him $40 to do all of them. I had to pay more money out, but it was okay.

My wife submitted our claim with Home Shield online for our AC that was not cooling. Ace Heating & Cooling was sent and they had to come four times. They couldn’t figure out what was making the coil freeze up. For the fourth time that they came, a supervisor came with them. The AC is working properly now.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for the plug-in in the kitchen, it didn’t have the wire hooked up to it. It was a wire that was off of it and it was something over by the wall. Then outside, where the electric meter is, it’s supposed to be 100-watt, but it’s a 60-watt. We’re just getting half past throughout the house. The guy from Ideal Electric first called LG&E ’cause he can’t open that up. The LG&E does that. He had done fixing everything that was supposed to have been fixed in the house. As soon as LG&E got here, he went up to the power pole and he was right. It was burnt after where the power pole was. He checked everything out and was really good. We got a lot more juice to the house. Before we'd go to bed at night thinking something would catch on fire. The last few nights, we've been going to bed without anything going off or dimming. The lights are good and bright. We’re really happy.

There was a glitch happening up in the attic where there’s a sensor that kept turning off the AC because there was backup coming from moisture. I spoke on the phone with the reps of AHS and they were helpful. AHS then sent a couple of contractors. The first one was courteous but didn't fix the problem. The second one was courteous but not very friendly. He was not a people person. The third contractor, Robert from Myers Comfort Specialists, fixed my issue really well. He knew exactly what was going on and he was a people person. Since then, the AC has been working great.

I submitted a claim to Home Shield for a furnace and everybody that I’ve talked to has been really nice, helpful and quick. They've answered all my questions and gotten our claim through. I think it was in 12 hours that I had a call from Ace Heating & Air to come out and they were awesome. They definitely did more than they needed to. We bought our home and our dryer vent wasn’t hooked up. There was a gas line that wasn’t capped. Those little things they didn’t even need to do but they hooked up my dryer vent and taped it up. They also capped off a gas line. On top of that, they were really quick and nice too.

The air conditioner was on the whole time but it wasn’t cooling at all. My husband called in the claim to American Home Shield and the contractors were dispatched in about an hour. We had the standard locks changed per terms of the contract. The claim with American Home Shield was submitted online and 911 Locksmith Services came out on time. They were pleasant and they did what they said they were going to do. I would recommend AHS to a friend.

When I submitted a claim to American Home Shield, they had somebody in the area call me back and schedule an appointment. The contractor came out, assessed the problem, came back and fixed it. In the meantime, I wrote a check to AHS for 100 bucks for the deductible and it was pretty seamless after that. I’ve been with AHS for about four years and for my AC unit, Advanced Cooling and Heating came out. It worked for me this time. It turned out to be okay.

The pilot light on my water heater kept going out and the water wasn’t getting hot. And then the overflow on the outside of the house was constantly running. It was running nothing but hot water for one full day. So, we had to turn the hot water heater off. And then the next day, it was running cold water practically all day. American Home Shield sent out Heros Plumbing and I was a little skeptical because I had read a lot of bad reviews on Yelp regarding this company. But once I saw what they were talking about, it totally made sense. So, I would definitely not discredit that company.
When the guy came out, he fixed everything, and it’s been working pretty good ever since. My husband interacted with him. He said he was a little chatty, but my husband could tell that he was confident in what he was doing. Overall, he did a very good job. I was satisfied with the services that American Home Shield covers. I would definitely recommend. And I have recommended them to a co-worker that’s just in the process of purchasing a home.

BB Lewis Plumbing came out and their contractor was good. The toilet had a motor inside of it, and it started leaking. Evidently, there was a recall on particular parts and he ended up having to replace the whole toilet because it had been there for 20 years. Whenever he tried to take it apart, the washers were all corroded together and it cracked the porcelain. So, there was no way to avoid it. He ended up having to cut them off, and he ordered a replacement. We also had an air conditioning issue some time in September wherein a condenser went out on the air conditioning unit, and we had to wait for four days before the contractor could come out. Still, we're very satisfied with American Home Shield.

My heat pump was in cooling mode, but it would not stay going for long, so it would trip. Something on it would just act up and it would also get hot. We had to reset it constantly and it just wouldn’t stay going properly. I submitted the claim online and it was easy. No wait times, no horrible waiting music. The contractor was good. They explained everything that was going on. I’m a home inspector so it helps me out to learn more about heating and cooling if I can. Bill and Kimberly both went over and made sure I knew exactly what was going on the whole time they were here.
The issue required a purchase by Home Shield of a new unit, and then they had to come back out and install it. Also, there was no manual. They looked up the manual online. And no matter what they were testing, the outside unit wasn’t getting a signal from the unit. And it turned out that AHS didn't ship the unit that was purchased to Bill’s Heating and Cooling. It had some kind of a faulty board on it, so there was actually a bad part on the new one.

I called Home Shield for a claim and they assigned Certified Heating & Air. They were out here the next day and saw what the problem was. Then they had American Home Shield order the compressor. Although it was a debacle, they finally got the compressor they ordered and got it put in. It took about three weeks to complete the job. It was excellent. The contractors were very thorough on communication and they completed the repair in a couple of hours. Everything has been good since.

US Plumbing and XACT Pool and Spa were both phenomenal. The pool guy showed up when he said he was gonna show up. He found exactly what the problem was, fixed it and was on his way. The same thing with the plumbing company. But AHS did send out a different plumbing company who was terrible prior to the one that actually did the job. They showed up one day and made me wait hours and showed up and said that they didn't have the parts. They showed up again on another day and brought gold instead of silver and it was just non-stop. They called again to schedule another appointment, but I told them to send a different plumbing company out or I would find another insurance company.
We were talking about two water lines on the second floor of my house. If these guys were so incompetent they couldn't come out and just take care of a faucet, how competent are they to even do the job and to leave without this thing leaking? I was on the phone for about 45 minutes, and the lady from AHS put me on hold and she'd come back on to tell me that they would send the top install manager over. I told her that I had met all three of those guys and I would only see one of the same faces and it would be a big problem. Then finally, she said that they would send somebody else out. That was the only problem I had with AHS. They've been great, but I know that they have more than one plumber in their back pocket and it shouldn't have come down to a 45-minute phone call and a threat to find another insurance company.

Our dishwasher wasn't washing the dishes right, and the top wasn't spinning. I submitted a claim for it online to American Home Shield. Navigation was easy. I was told to expect the contractors out within 24 hours. Fidelity came out and did the inspection and recommended the information back to American Home Shield. Since they've been out, the dishwasher has been performing good. I have five American Home Shield accounts, and my claims experience was not always good. But for this event, the experience was good.

We made the most recent claim for our washing machine online and the contractor sent out by American Home Shield was very good. There was an uneven code and he came out three different times. The first time was to assess it. The second time was to install some parts, and that still didn’t fix it. So, they sent him back the third time to install more parts, which still didn’t fix it. The last I heard they were closing it out and I was supposed to hear something about a replacement, but I have not heard anything yet.

If you need repairs done, AHS sends out people that know their jobs. They're very nice, respectable, professional and clean, and they get the job done. I haven't had anyone who came that didn't do a good job so that's one reason why I stick with AHS. I call stuff in with them. I'm still not quite there with the online stuff. I like to speak to people only because I like to know it was done, submitted, and not caught up in a rainstorm. My son said the gentleman from Mac Mac Plumbing was very good. I only spoke to him on the phone because I had to run an errand, but he was good. I have no complaints when I got back in the house. Everything was fixed as it should be. I have given people AHS' information and told them to reach out to AHS.

Our beverage cooler had an issue with the thermostat. We submitted a claim twice to American Home Shield, one was online, one was on the phone. MBH Enterprises came out and they were good. They had to order the part so it took a couple of days to get it fixed.

When my water heater broke, I called Home Shield as quick as it could be and had a good interaction with the rep. The contractor came and put a new hot water heater. But Home Shield needs to get more contractors for their air conditioner repairs. I had an air conditioner unit break before and since their contractor couldn't come out for two or three days to fix it, I ended up having to pay for it out of my own pocket. It was 100 degrees outside and I didn't have an air conditioner. It was such a huge hassle to get my own money back that I paid to get it fixed. It's not even worth my time mess with it. Still, I'm satisfied with their service.

American Home Shield had good rates and I read good things about them. I have a claim regarding plumbing and the contractor, Desmoni, absolutely did the job. They were quick and efficient. They showed up when they said they were going to and everything was fine. This plumbing was my second service call. The first one was for my range. I had trouble with my burner. I called since May of this year, and every time I called, I reported the problem and then they said they would get on it and call me back but they would never call me back so I would call again, and then I would speak to another person, and another.
I even spoke to a customer service supervisor and she was a customer service specialist, I think. I told her the whole problem and she was sorry that happened to me and told me she would see what she could do for me and would call me back. She never called me back. For months and months all the way from May until the end of July, I must have called 30 times. I was on hold for an hour and then they wouldn’t do anything or they would hang up on me and I’d have to call again. I’ve already paid for my service call. At the end of July, they said that instead of fixing it, they were gonna replace it. That was good except that it took over a month and a half just to get it. I finally got my stove replaced and then I had to find someone to install it. And that was barely installed this past Saturday on October 5.
I was the one who picked the stove. It was propane but the oven is electric. I didn’t know I needed 220. So now I have a stove that it took six months to get and I still can’t use it. I can use the stove but not the oven. And American Home Shield won’t cover it. And then the company that installed it was absolutely horrid because they said they were gonna be out Saturday at 8:00 in the morning. I had to travel 100 miles one way to see my mother and my husband had to sleep in 'cause he works nights. I asked them if they could come later. They said no, it was either at 8:00 in the morning or I reschedule. I’ve been waiting six months for it so I said I didn't want to reschedule. But the technician never showed up until almost 11:00 in the morning and he said that their office told him that I had requested a later time. I said I did but they told me that they couldn't come out later so I canceled my trip.
That person in the office, Jack's Appliance, didn't call me that they were coming later. My husband ended up getting up anyway because he thought I did go in. It was horrible and I was very upset. The water heater experience was great because they took care of that within days whereas my stove, it’s been six months and I still don’t have it. But when I spoke to Desmoni Plumbing, they actually told me that American Home Shield is one of the best that they work with. Now, I don’t think I’m gonna change companies.

I was vacuuming in the bedroom and had the vacuum plugged into the bathroom next to one of the bedrooms. All of a sudden, my vacuum stopped working. I unplugged it, then plugged it back in, and everything went out. All the electricity in the bathroom, in the hallway, and in the two bedrooms that it was all connected to went out. I submitted a claim with AHS and State Electric Company came out. I had an awesome experience with them. It ended up being a loose wire in an outlet that I don't even use and the electrician was great.
But I wasn't happy with the plumbing situation I had a few weeks ago. I worked with American Home Shield's protocol and it was 8:30 at night. They gave me the name of the company that was gonna contact me and I was supposed to give them a half an hour to contact me, but they didn't. And at the time that I called AHS, I kept getting people I couldn't understand. I was already frustrated, so this was making me even more frustrated and that wasn't good. And when I called American Home Shield back, they gave me the name of another company and their rep told me I had to wait for four hours for the contractor to contact me. In the meantime, I couldn't use any of my plumbing at all in my whole house. And the contractor never contacted me. She also said that if they didn't call in four hours, then I could call somebody else, which I did.
I called my own person and they came out. This happened on a Thursday night and they came out Friday morning. But the company I called couldn't rectify the situation. I ended up paying them $178 and the tech said that he was sorry but he didn't know what the problem was. So, I still had no plumbing. I called another plumber on Saturday and when he came out, he did the same exact thing that this kid did that Friday at the tune of $300. It didn't resolve the situation but I ended up paying these people.
So, I was without plumbing from Thursday to Tuesday. A friend of mine who does plumbing finally got out there on Tuesday and he figured out what the problem was. It was another pipe that these other two plumbers didn't even think to look for, and he fixed it. So, I paid him $150. All in all, I spent almost $800 into plumbing. But when I called American Home Shield, they said that they weren't gonna pay for any of it because I didn't use their contractors. When I explained why I didn't, they still said that they couldn't do anything about it.
I've been very pleased with American Home Shield for every other issue I've had come up with my home andthey've been awesome about getting things fixed, other than the plumbing. One of the plumbers that they set me up with even ended up texting me and said they'd be out the following week. I told them I couldn't be without plumbing, not to mention that I couldn't stay at my house so I had to go to a friend of mine's house. So, I was not happy about that. But other than that, I always tell people that if they're buying a new house, they should get American Home Shield or use the insurance on the appliances. I tell them that it's so worth it.

I pay for the service call with American Home Shield with my credit card, which they have on file. So American Home Shield pays the service call then the contractor submits the balance of it and American Home Shield pays them, assuming what they come out for is covered under the warranty. For the 30 years since I moved to Arizona, I never had any problem with American Home Shield. It's all been this summer. I've been having a lot of problems with the people they're sending out. I have to call them to come back out to fix what they initially fixed and then they get sour-faced about it. That is what happened when I called Happy Bear back out again. It was more like, "I've already done this and I don't wanna do it again."
The air conditioner that was not working at full capacity and the experience I had was bad. Happy Bear didn't come to the house. They sent a message up to my house, saying the issue was taken care of, and they left. I didn't get any paperwork. But I'm not feeling so cool in my house so I have a feeling that they did not fix the air conditioner.
My refrigerator also broke and it was a fairly brand new LG refrigerator. A guy came out and left but he didn't tell me why. I'm an asthmatic. I needed my refrigerator fixed. I called and found out they didn't know how long it would take for them to get somebody back here. I wasn't getting any feedback from anybody. When finally, somebody went out here again, they left again. I went, "What is it with you guys?" They said they were trying to find somebody to come and fix my refrigerator. It had been going on for a week and I didn't even know what was the matter with the refrigerator.
Couldn't American Home Shield find an LG technician to fix my LG refrigerator? It was getting crazy. Even so, they should go to California and get one. I pay them enough money. The reason I am still with American Home Shield is because I have two air conditioners that are kinda old. I cannot let American Home Shield go because nobody else would pick me up. The other thing is that the reps at American Home Shield don't speak very good English. I think they're in India.
I went two and a half weeks without a refrigerator, with the service people not coming back. American Home Shield finally told me to go ahead and buy a refrigerator. Then I sent all my paperwork in. But I just got the check a little over a week ago for my refrigerator from two and a half months ago -- after about five or six service calls. That's because I had to call American Home Shield and resubmit my paperwork. Then I finally got a new refrigerator.
I'm having the same problem with my plumbing too -- only this time, they didn't call. When the plumber got out here, it turned out it wasn't covered under my warranty. But American Home Shield had paid for the service call and they recommended these people to come out here. Surely, they had vetted these people. But the same thing happened. The plumber fixed it and split. But now I get this loud noise coming through my house when I flush the toilet. The plumber came out again Saturday morning but didn't even bother to tell me they were leaving. That's when I called American Home Shield.
I realize I wasn't covered under warranty but American Home Shield was the one that sent them out here. I had no phone number for them. They had been out four times and I had fully paid them. They got my money, the $200, but they still haven't fixed my pipes. I also have a bill here that doesn't even have an address on them. They're not answering the phone. All I can do is leave a message. I told American Home Shield that they have their ways of contacting the contractor and that they stand behind the company because they sent them. It had been going on for three weeks at that point. The owner of the company finally called me this morning and they think it's funny. I told them I don't know if it's going to blow up my house with this air and this noise. I'm putting my house on the market. I can't leave my house sounding like that. So we have another appointment coming this Friday and I hope they fix it.

My air conditioner was not cooling. I went online to put the claim in. They assigned my case to a contractor, and a contractor called the very next day. The contractor came right out when we set a date. He checked the unit which is in the laundry room. We got a backdoor he utilized, and he went outside. The first day, they were here all day and couldn’t find a leak. They recharged my air, got it working right away, and came back out two months later to recheck everything.
My AC is doing great now. I’m completely satisfied with American Home Shield. I’ve used them a few times, and they’ve always been prompt to respond to my problems and get out a contractor to work on what my needs were. It's definitely well-worth the money. I’ve also used their website a few times and never had a problem with it.

Intelfix Appliance Repair came out and after they looked at our dishwasher, they said that the motor on the dishwasher was not working or was not pumping. It was not pushing water through it. They could not find the parts so they notified me that they were gonna cash out either to buy it and replace it, or I could go out and find one, and then they would reimburse me. So, I accepted the install and replacement. The contractor knew what he was doing and the installer made us aware of a leak problem underneath the sink that’s connected to the dishwasher. The original installers from GE did not know what they were doing. I was pretty dissatisfied with the GE people. I was very satisfied with the Intelfix people. I’m also very much happy with the relationship I have thus far with American Home Shield.

The technician from Jim Bennett’s Plumbing was very skilled. He was young, so he needed some encouragement in certain areas of the work. For example, the drain cleanout was something he hadn’t encountered before because we have a septic tank. And it was an elaborate procedure that he had to go through to be able to get the grease through the main drain line and out into the septic tank. Then the septic tank itself was slow in dissolving the grease. That wasn’t his problem. It was a matter of letting the septic tank do its work. He was very thorough, though, and realized that it was a multifaceted approach that he had to take to get the main line cleaned.
In regard to the grease that was coming out of the kitchen sink, he had to go in through the cutout at the back of the house, through the cutout in the front of the house, and then he even had to take the kitchen sink trap and drain line apart and use a snake in that area to go down into the main drain and push the grease through. And in the process, one of the chrome pipes ruptured, and so he had to replace that with a PVC plastic drain line, which he did very professionally. All of the work he completed was very professional. I’ve been doing do-it-yourself plumbing repairs for years, so I was somewhat familiar with what had to be done. And just a matter of talking to him, kind of encouraging him, giving little a pointer here and there and guidance, he did a beautiful job.
Jim Bennett’s Plumbing has been in Tallahassee for many years, and this particular technician is somebody who had a lot of plumbing experience. He was young, but he was very attentive, very patient, and very thorough in his work. He hadn’t worked on a drain line that involved a septic system before, but with some encouragement, he was able to take care of that. He was able to replace the toilet seals on our toilet. The toilet was leaking around the base when we flushed it, so he was able to put a double seal on that and that solved that problem. He also did a rebuild of a single-handle shower valve that I had bought the kit for. It was a very inexpensive kit, but I hadn’t replaced one in a long time, and felt like it needed somebody that had a lot of patience and was capable of doing a valve cartridge rebuilding. And he did that job and did a beautiful job of it.
I've been with American Home Shield since June of this year. I had dealt with them in the past and had reasonably good success with them, so I thought I’d give them another try. And the reason I had to use them was because we had a Sears Protection Plan but Sears would no longer cover our heating and air condition equipment. So, I felt like I had no choice but to drop Sears plan and go with a plan that would cover the heating and air condition.

When I first had to call American Home Shield with our plumbing issue, talking to the lady was awful. So I would never call and talk to a representative again, but I will do everything online. When I had a spa issue, I did my claim online and JC Pools came in. I had no problem with them. They resolved the issue. American Home Shield is fine. But I would not have purchased it if the sellers have not purchased it for us.

The technician from Air Squad Heating & Air Conditioning was great. He got us a part and updated the toilet. It's an older toilet and is one of my favorite. He fixed it all and fine. I called American Home Shield to submit a claim but they made a mistake. I used a different credit card and they charged me on my debit card on record. But it was no big deal and it worked out okay. I've had them for three or four years. They had replaced a refrigerator for me. Also, both my father and my sister have American Home Shield too.

I’ve been paying American Home Shield for 17 years and I pay every month. Then every time somebody comes out, I have to pay them $75 and that went up from $35 when I started out. Recently, I had a plumbing claim and initially, when Bear Plumbing & Rooter came out, the knob that turns the water off to the toilet was leaking. They changed that out for me but there was also a crack on the toilet and they said that it was done by some force or somebody hit it. But we have a protective thing over it which holds our toiletries, so there was no way that anybody could intensely hit it. At the time, I didn’t realize that they were reporting that, then American Home Shield said they’d deny my claim. I told them I needed somebody else to come see it because nobody put any force to it. It just cracked.
So, they sent someone else out today from Clogmaster and they said they were gonna take pictures. But they didn’t take pictures and I hadn’t tried to make them take pictures because I was trying to show them where it could possibly have come from. Then AHS called today and said that they would deny my claim again. We asked them about the pictures as the tech said he was gonna show them the pictures. Also, there’s no imprint of any kind of force anywhere and it’s a natural crack that happened, so it was very upsetting. I couldn’t understand why this is going on and they weren’t believing us.
Other than that, the first couple of representatives I spoke to at AHS were fine. But the one today was saying that she was taking the word of the contractor. However, the contractors really didn’t talk to us or said that anything happened. They weren’t clear about what they were reporting and it was very disturbing for people to say that you’re lying. But I wasn't. We also asked for a supervisor but she said they weren’t available and they would call us back within 24 to 48 hours.

Putting in a claim online with American Home Shield was easy, but I could not find my account number, so therefore I had to call. Their reps are always great. I’ve been with AHS for over 20 years. However, I called Crispy Air, the people that came out on Saturday, early Sunday and asked them about putting in the claim. And then when I called this morning they said they were just about to put it in to American Home Shield to get it approved for authorization since it was a pricier call. Aside from that, I was happy with the Crispy. I would recommend AHS. I’ve actually recommended them to a lot of people.

I submitted a claim through the American Home Shield website by just hitting the request button and then selecting the issues. A nice feature that they have is you can select the contractor instead of just defaulting. ‘Cause it defaulted to Roto-Rooter, but looking up Mega Star Plumbing, they had a much better rating. So, it was a nice feature that they added to the service request process. Mega Star Plumbing contacted me the same day and then they came out the following day. They fixed the wax seal on the bottom of our toilet in our master bathroom. They were done in about 15 minutes and they showed up on time, so they did a really good job. They were very professional. I never got the feeling that they were rushing the job. There were two of them that were working on it, so they worked pretty well together. Now we don’t have to bother our daughters to use the toilet.

My central air unit wasn’t staying on as it was kicking off about every 30 to 40 seconds after it came on. I called it in over to Home Shield and Central Virginia Heating and Air was assigned for the claim. I contacted the company's home office for scheduling purposes, leaving 2 or 3 voicemails, but they never called back. Finally, about three days later, they called back and had set up a schedule. It was convenient but I had to wait for them to call me back. I even called 3 or 4 times, but they never answered or returned the phone call. So, their communication skills need to be improved.
The guy who came out and did the repair was very good, professional, and helpful. He answered all the questions. There was a capacitor or something that was out and he replaced that, then he came back out again. There were some connections on our thermostat that weren’t quite working right, so he repaired that as well. Apparently, the AC is working fine right now, and I'm satisfied in my experience with American Home Shield overall.

I noticed some holes in my pipe to my central heat and air system. I called American Home Shield and filed a claim through the automated system, which gave me the options. American Home Shield ended up talking to the contractor after I submitted my claim. And then, they confirmed the numbers and the contractor called me to set up the appointment. They came out within 24 hours after we set up the appointment.
The tech told me he'd be there between 8 and 9 o'clock and he was right here at 8 o'clock as I pulled in the driveway from work. He came in, looked at everything, told me what the problem was, and took care of it. He made sure I did not have any additional questions. He also checked my system to make sure it was working properly while he was here, and reminded me that I had a 60-day window that if anything else came up with the same item, to just call back and they would come. It was a great experience. I have already recommended American Home Shield to my brother and he's a client of theirs now too.

I filed a claim with AHS for my air conditioner online and it worked well. The contractor came out within 45 minutes and diagnosed the problem. They had to pump sealant into the refrigeration unit and then pump in some more Freon. They fixed the ac and left within an hour.

With American Home Shield, it was nice to be able to talk to a person as opposed to automation calls because I don't know if anybody received my message or not. It was within a few hours that I received a notification that AHS had chosen the plumbing company and they were coming out. That was Pruitt's Plumbing who had initially come out in September when our water heater had spewed water all over our garage. That time, the tech came out on Sunday after I had the water leak on a Saturday night which I thought was really nice. He put in a new element and we thought that everything was okay.
For my recent claim, we had no hot water in our kitchen area for about three or four days. The tech, James, came and he had to get some step-by-step instructions so he had to contact his office. They walked him through a few things and he put in two new thermostats in the unit. Now, we're getting hot water which is great. I thank AHS and I appreciate them following up with us quickly. When we don't have hot water or some other thing in the house is broken, having to wait for service is painful. I also appreciate Pruitt's for coming out as soon as possible.

AHS did a really nice job. But we're probably gonna have to have the guy come back out again. He did okay and got the AC working again but the same unit is having trouble again. Apparently, the issue was that it just froze up and it seems like it's freezing up again so there's gotta be some issue that we need to get addressed. It was three weeks ago that they first came out and the technician came out on time and was very polite. Everything is good as far as that goes.

Our AC would turn on, but it wouldn’t blow air. I filed a claim to American Home Shield over the phone. The only issue that I have with American Home Shield is that you’re usually routed to another country. They’ve always been very courteous, but maybe they're not understanding some of the things that we’re trying to explain to them. There's a little bit of a communication problem. But overall, we’ve been fine with them.
Austin Heating and Air came out for the AC, and our experience went great. They were here in a timely manner, and they knew exactly what the problem was. It was just a blower, which we were very relieved that it wasn’t anything more serious than that. They fixed it within a matter of minutes and was gone. It was very good.

My cleaning pump went out and was leaking. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and the contractor from Doug Anderson called me. We had to wait for parts for about six days. The part wasn't in stock and he couldn't get it anywhere because he had to buy a whole new motor, a whole new pump, and a whole new impeller.

I requested service in my central AC and it’s been over 10 days in FL heat, nothing has been done. They use non-reputable contractors that don’t care for their business. First contractor came out and told us that he will order part and replace it the next day. 5 days later he cancelled, the next 2 contractors never called back. The agent tried to send an appliance repair company to my house to fix my Central AC, when I called them, they told me that they don’t service AC units. I am guessing American Home Shield does not compensate these contractors fairly so they are not motivated to accept their business.
On my 4th call (calls were hour each) the agent hung up on because I requested to speak to a manager. Getting through their phone system is frustrating to say the least. One thing I should have considered when purchasing a Home Warranty is, if their customer service calls are answered in the US or abroad. There seems to be a major cultural disconnect when dealing with people in India. I do not want to support companies that outsource their customer service. Not a happy customer.

This company is the worst company in the world! Do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The reps that take your warranty request never make the orders right, the vendors they work with are the worst in the world and take weeks to even show up! Once I had a plumbing problem and they suggested to me to take out my bath tub and or cabinet. I called a plumber and they made a simple cut to get to the broken hose. I've had a dryer and refrigerator problem for a month now and they send whoever and dont even have the correct work orders, tools or parts to work on anything. I also just got cussed out by ROBIN from customer service! STAY AWAY worst service ever!!

I paid for a service call. All I got was money taken again to repair. Nothing done. Just took my money which was 80.25. On top of what the plan cost me. I have a 5 star hood exhaust fan over my kitchen stove. The motor went bad so they said it was commercial unit. The motor was going to cost 500.00 dollars so they would not cover it. So if you have high appliances all they have to say is it is a commercial appliances then they won't have to repair it. Funny how they never tell you that information when you're buying their worthless insurance. Do yourself a favor. If you buy high end appliances don't be fooled. They will not cover it. They only know how to steal your money. I also told them before they came it was 5 star hood fan! Funny they did mention it was consider commercial at the time that they were stealing my money. I hope you the consumer are not fooled by them like I was. Buyer beware. They like to steal your money.

I am updating my first review for AHS. If I could give them zero stars I would. They sent an unlicensed electrician to replace bedroom ceiling fan. Fan was not installed properly and company refused any wrongdoing and reported there was nothing wrong. After several complaints to AHS they finally sent out another company who confirmed the fan was indeed installed incorrectly or dropped prior to installation and it needed to be replaced. AHS ignored the second company's report & closed the case leaving me with a non working fan.

American Home Shield is a joke! I attempted to use this company for 2 home issues - both of which were plumbing issues. The first issue was a stoppage somewhere in the plumbing that caused sewage backup in our bathrooms. After a long discussion with them to make sure the situation was covered, they reassured me that it was covered and I would only have to pay the deductible. They sent someone out the same day. Upon the contractor showing up, AHS advised them that it, indeed, was NOT covered because they had to remove the toilet from the bathroom floor to get to the stoppage, then put the toilet back in place. This ended up costing me an ADDITIONAL $350! After doing research after the fact, I could have hired a plumber on my own and spent half of what I paid through the AHS warranty.
The 2nd issue was a broken pipe under the kitchen sink which resulted in my entire house flooding. The pipe broke below the water shut off so I couldn't just shut off the water to the sink - we had to kill the water to the entire house. I call AHS, who proceeds to tell me that my situation is not an emergency (note: 2+ inches of water throughout my whole house and no water with 2 kids in the home) and told me the soonest they would send someone out was 72 hours from the time I called. You cannot be serious....if a flooded home and no water due to a broken pipe is not an emergency, what exactly is?!
After this situation, I opted to cancel my policy. Upon cancellation, they only refunded me half of what they should have refunded me. I've been constantly fighting with this joke of a company for the last 1+ months trying to resolve this, but all they want to do is point fingers and place all of the blame on me. If you are looking for a reliable home warranty company, this is not the company to use. Run away, as fast as you can, and don't ever look back. They will tell you that your issue is covered, then find every excuse in the book not to cover it once you've paid your deductible and the contractor is there. If I could give this company a lower rating than a 1 star, I would.

Too bad negative stars isn't an option. Absolutely the worst company I've ever experienced. When you call with a claim they will assign it to a bottom of the barrel service provider who won't return phone calls and consistently gets 1* ratings due to inept service and lack of response. I complained after 3 unreturned phone calls and got reassigned to a slightly better company, only to be informed on my scheduled service day THAT AMERICAN HOME SHIELD HAD CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT WITHOUT EVER CALLING ME!!!!! OMG! I have been living in a house without air conditioning for a week now and they treat me like this. Done with them. Canceling service just as soon as I get this resolved.. Absolute garbage to treat customers this way!!!

I had some electrical issues that needed to be fixed and a couple of leaks. One was a broken toilet tank and the other one was one that just wasn’t installed properly. I did those claims online and it was easy enough using the AHS website. Both the guys sent by AHS were great. They were quick to say when they were gonna be there and they were super fast in diagnosing the problem. The electrician guy even taught me a little bit. There was a part of what he was fixing that was something I had previously tried to fix and failed. He showed me where I went wrong. Everything has been good since the repairs.

I put in an online claim for a leaking pipe in the shower. I've used the AHS website a couple of times already to submit other claims. The website was great and it answered everything I needed it for. H&K Plumbing could be found there and then they gave a number. So I called them and scheduled an appointment. Once I did that, I got a text message that said the our appointment had been scheduled. I also got a text or an email on every single thing that took place throughout the whole time till it got fixed. My tenant was the one who was there when they came out and they said that there's no more leak and everything is working fine. I've been using American Home Shield for many years and it has always been a pleasurable experience working with them. They've been great.

Every time that I call Home Shield, I get the service that I need. They've been helpful as far as making sure that the service has been done properly. I put in a service request recently for my air conditioning which is a very old unit. I requested Airboss Mechanical to come and to inspect it versus the other two companies that came prior to them. When my dryer was not heating up, I called Home Shield for service and the rep took forever on hold with me because he kept saying the plan is under Jack and I kept telling him it's under my name. This should've been changed a while back. The warranty was originally under a man named Jack but he's been deceased for two years now and American Home Shield changed the ownership at the beginning, but then I saw my newsletter come in from the internet and it said Jack too.
Anyway, a guy from Quality Services came in to put a motor, and he was great. He was on time and he showed me great knowledge. He started telling me what was wrong with my dryer, and he even showed me outside. He was very good to me. He did everything correctly and the machine's working, but it's not heating as much. I called Quality Services back to tell them that and I'm wondering if I left a message with the wrong company because nobody's called me back yet. All in all, American Home Shield is a great company and I am satisfied but not quite.

I like the security with Home Shield. It’s some kind of an insurance security and I’ve always had it. I always talk about them. I tell others it’s a peace of mind and that they are pretty good. I’ve heard some stories, a lot of skaz, but everything I’ve had issue with, I paid my money and the contractors would come and fix it and we were okay. The guy from Performance Plumbing who came out for my latest claim was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. He knew what he was doing and he was a good guy. But I’ve had some issues with some of the people AHS contracts with. I’ve had some mickey mouse people coming in my house. I’m one who wanna save money and I’m sure AHS wanna save money, so they get the people they wanna save money, but sometimes they’re not that good. But as a consumer, I’ve gotten smart and I request Sears or I request certain things if I can and AHS has worked with me pretty good.
I submit claims by phone. I’m pretty good online but I wanna do it with people. There was one time I had two incidents happened to me. The washer quit and I went out to the garage to get some tools, then I noticed the water heater was leaking. I did one of the claims online and then the other one, I requested Sears from the rep I spoke with and she said she couldn’t do that because I already did it online so I had already put the service in. I kinda created that, so she was gonna send me whoever they were gonna send me with the online claim. But the person I requested, she could do more for me as a person. So, that kinda put a key in my head that I will deal with somebody in person from then on because I didn’t know what I’m doing and the computer did some stuff for me. The lady was kinda locked out of it.

We had an issue with our oven one time and submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Their website was great and they sent us an update afterward. Everything worked out great. We submitted the claim on a Friday and there was nobody available for the weekend. So it was the following Monday that Mr. Appliance came out. The contractor was very professional and everything has been working great since.

We got a home warranty when we bought a house two houses ago. Everything was older in that house and so, we just kept the warranty. Then, when we made it to this house, we stayed with American Home Shield because we were happy with them. Submitting a claim is just making a phone call and it’s very easy. I did that once when we had a plumbing issue and it got taken care of. In our most recent claim, the contractor came out and it was all good. The oven is working.

There was something wrong with the dryer and the icemaker of the refrigerator wasn't working. I called in a claim with AHS and they sent out Speedy Air & Heat. The techs were awesome. They worked on the belt and something else on the dryer. Then they replaced something on the icemaker. Everything has been working phenomenally since the repair and overall, my experience was 100% fantastic from the phone call to the techs coming out. They had to come back after they ordered parts and they were great all the way around. I’ve also recommended AHS to people.

American Home Shield's claims process was easy. They kept it simple and it was a phone call to get an appointment set up, and then their reps followed up with me. The contractor that came out was wonderful. He showed us that it was an easy fix and he was incredibly present and very efficient. Everything seems to be fine.

I’ve been with American Home Shield them for five years and I like that they come when I need them. I always put the claim online, but then I end up calling. I liked the representatives better when I make a claim and I would rather have the same company because they already know what's going on. I call and request for the same people, and so far, I haven't had a problem. Family Heating & Air was perfect and the young lady I talked to was 24/7. I had a problem with my air conditioner twice and they made me a priority on both times. Everything is fine with the AC and they even gave me a card and said that if anything happens in between me trying to call AHS or them, they will come out.

Having American Home Shield has helped me a lot because it gave me peace of mind. I didn't have to worry about trying to find the right contractor or worrying that they would do a good job because the warranty took care of all of that for me. I had a tune-up for the furnace for fall weather 'cause the winter is coming. It was something that American Home Shield had advertised to have someone come out and do. So, I called them to have them do that, and they said that there were a number of issues with the furnace. So, based on their diagnosis, I submitted a claim. Their website was user-friendly. And the contractor, Majestic Custom Heating and Air Conditioning, was great and seemed very professional.

Myers Comfort came out the next day but then the problem wasn't resolved. They have to come back out another day and I'm waiting on the approval for a replacement part. Myers told me I would have to wait probably a week.

We've been with AHS for a couple of months, and the claims process has been easy. Recently the contractor AHS gave us canceled the appointment 20 minutes before they had to arrive. But we scheduled another one and then he arrived and he fixed it very quick.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield by phone. The representative I spoke with was very good. She listened to what I was saying, she asked what the problem was, and she offered help. A lot of times, I see that American Home Shield is very picky like, "No, no, no, that person came to fix." They won't even come back and resolve the issue. But because I have two contractors, I requested that they send the other contractor. RG Plumbing had come out for the other issues, and they had been very professional. So then I requested, “Can you send RG Plumbing for this one too?” The AHS rep agreed to do that even though RG Plumbing wasn't the one who fixed the initial problem.
The initial issue was also a plumbing leak. It was fixed by another provider of AHS. The guy just came, put caulk around the faucet and left. And even when I told him that it was leaking from another thing, he said it was fixed and there are no problems. He left. It wasn't fixed and it was leaking. I had to go on vacation. And so, I had to turn off water in the whole house because in just three days, there was like 1/8 of a bucket of water under the sink. I would be gone for a long time, and it’s gonna go through and mess up all my floors.

I have been 50-50 on American Home Shield since transferring from a different warranty company. My first two experiences with them were really good. The computer in my dishwasher went out and that was replaced. I was satisfied with the service even though AHS and their contractor were a little slow in that they ordered the parts and it was almost a week and a half before their tech came back.
Another time, I had an issue with my refrigerator. AHS' contractor came out and said that AHS had to replace the refrigerator. I wasn't happy with that but then I just told them to replace it. However, it took almost 28 days to get a refrigerator. Sears brought out a refrigerator and a week later but it was broken when it got here. I had to call AHS and harass them but they told me that I had to wait on Sears. I could have bought one instead. Right now, I have a leak and they’re giving me grief with that. I don’t know how they’re doing. I anticipate I'm gonna start having problems with AHS. I've have sent AHS four customers two months ago. I hate to go back to my friends and say I gave them bad advice.

We had something with our downstairs AC unit and had that serviced by A-US Air on a Monday. Friday of the same week, we noticed a leak subsequent to where they were up in our attic fixing the AC, then like secondary, developed a leak which was dripping down from our upstairs unit. It had made a bubble in our ceiling and we had to put a bucket to catch the water under, on our hardwood, so it wouldn't damage the floor. I called Friday to get AHS to find somebody to come and service the system. We were trying to get it upgraded to an emergency appointment because of the fact that we were having secondary damage and American Home Shield was very clear about the fact that they didn't cover.
It literally took about four phone calls, all of which I had to repeat everything because there were no notes taken in the system. Whoever I would talk to would be like, "Yes, I'm on top of it. I'll communicate that to A-US Air." I waited two or three hours but we didn't hear anything from A-US Air. I called A-US Air. They said that nothing's happened in their system or in their notes from American Home Shield. They can't do anything until AHS gives them the go-ahead.
So I called back and got somebody else who had no idea what I was talking about. That probably took up like six hours of my life with the whole people trying to look. The lady who I talked to, JB, said she was located at a call center in the Philippines. She was very short. The people from A-US Air don't answer their normal number because it was a weekend. They have an emergency number that you'd have to call if you want somebody to pick up on the weekends. The lady I've been communicating with at A-US Air was Leslie and she was very specific to say to have AHS call at that number. I was trying to give JB that feedback because she wouldn't get anybody. It took me forever to communicate that to her because she kept interrupting or cutting me off or saying like she knows.
I asked her if she could make that phone call while I stay on the line because I was trying to make sure that it all got handled. So, she put me on hold and then she came back and said that the number kept on going to voicemail and that she tried to call three times, which I know is not true because it's an emergency number. They pick up immediately. I called A-US Air back right after that and they said that nobody from American Home Shield had called them.
When I was on the phone with Joan, the very last person I spoke with, I gave her that number, and she called it. I didn't even tell her the name of the lady who was monitoring the lines. When she clicked back over, she said that she spoke with Leslie at A-US Air. I knew Joan actually reached out to the people because she knew the name of the person without me even telling her. She was so lovely and helpful that I asked to be able to speak with her supervisor afterwards, but her supervisor was on another call, just because I wanted to sing her praises because it had been a very, very frustrating situation.
A-US Air sent a technician out on a Sunday, but because the part that they needed was at a warehouse that was also closed on the weekends, they said that they had to come back Monday to fix it. I waited till noon on Monday and hadn't heard from them, so I gave them a call which the person who I talked to said that I had to talk to somebody from the installation department and it's not likely they're gonna get to me that day. The person saw in the notes that the technician told me that they would be there Monday but he didn't know why the technician would tell me that. I told him I'm suffering secondary damage and I'm waiting on the tech to come and fix this. The following day he pointed me to the installation person, Kenny, who then said that he was seeing my concern but they still couldn't get to me until Tuesday. He didn't know why the technician told me they would come on Monday.
It's kinda hit or miss with American Home Shield. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes it's not, but this last thing was so frustrating. Once this finally gets fixed, I'm gonna have to find somebody else that's not covered to come and dry out my walls, to assess the damage so that we don't get mold. Then, I have to get whatever cut out and replaced and I gotta find somebody to come back and paint all that.

I submitted my claim with American Home Shield by telephone, and their representative was also polite. I called to make another claim two days ago for a garbage disposal, but apparently, I wasn't covered on that. Still, the rep was polite.

I was satisfied with American Home Shield. They assigned South Placer Heating & Air for my claim and the guy scheduled me for the very next day after I called, and scheduled to be there pretty early in the morning. The tech went ahead and did all the work, which turned out as pretty short and easy. It was a bad capacitor, so he had to go up into the attic to get there because it’s just a one-story house and the furnace is up there. He replaced the capacitor, and connected wire for me that I had asked him to connect.

My dryer wouldn't shut off. Once you turned it on, it stayed on. It just kept drying. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield through the internet and it was easy. I was informed when the contractor, All Brands Appliance Repair, would call me. Then the contractor came out really fast and got it fixed. They did a great job. It was the second time they did work for me. The repair helped. I could use my dryer again.

The dryer would not heat and dry the clothes. And the icemaker of the refrigerator was not working. I called American Shield and my interaction with the rep I spoke with was good. She told me to expect the contractor within three to five days and Appliance Connection made an appointment between that period, but the tech didn't come out within that time. It was about eight days out when he actually came. But I liked him a whole lot at first. When the gentleman came for the dryer, he fixed it but told us that it still needed another part and they had to order it.
He was there on a Friday so at the time, I had been without my dryer for about two weeks. He said it would be sometime next week but I said I needed a specific time. So, he called the office and said they would be out Tuesday afternoon. He talked to the office about the appointment, so when they called me Monday afternoon for my Tuesday appointment, they were coming Tuesday morning instead of Tuesday night.
I called on Tuesday morning, the day of the time they were coming because I was working and I didn't take time off, and the gentleman that answered the phone said that the best they could do was they could make me their third route. So they could come at 10:30, but they couldn't come in the afternoon. I asked to speak to one of the managers and told him that I've been without a dryer for going on three weeks but he said that was the best he could do.
I was also very frustrated because American Home Shield sent me an email asking about a survey, and because it looked like the work was finished because the gentleman had already come out one time to work on the dryer and fixed it as well as the refrigerator, I answered the survey and gave their company glowing reviews. And I told him that I just did a survey giving them a glowing review and now he was not owning up to what I had put him down for. Still, he rescheduled the service for a couple of days where I had to take off work, go home and meet the tech.
After that, they weren't very accommodating and that upset me a little bit. But up until that point, they had been excellent. So, I don't know if it was just this gentleman. Also, our washing machine broke months ago and Appliance Connection worked on it. We had a really good thing going, so I asked for them again for my recent claim on the dryer. So, I don't think it was a problem with the whole company.
At any rate, I took off work and went home to meet the tech because it was either that or be without a dryer for another two more days. That was Tuesday, so it would be Thursday afternoon. And in the middle of all of this, my father in law passed away and we were trying to get to Mississippi for his arrangements and funeral. So, I needed my dryer to get my clothes, so that we could travel and we were traveling Friday morning. It was just a fiasco and a terrible week for me.Other than that, the gentleman that worked on the dryer was very good, very professional, and very clean. His name was Chris and he did a great job.

I called in a claim for a blower. I spoke to a Home Shield representative and it was okay. It’s usually a issue about what I’m asking them to come and look at. You know something’s not working, but you don’t know the details so they could be a lot more specific about those. Whereas if I knew the details, I wouldn’t need a repair.
I requested Bob’s Pool & Spa Repair because I’ve had horrible experiences with people coming out that didn’t know what they were doing. Bob's is probably one of the better ones in Modesto. I previously had my dishwasher repaired and many techs came out that they ruined that dishwasher. Finally, AHS sent a specialist and when he came, he said, “There’s nothing I could do with this because so many parts have been moved around and messed up that I don’t know what to tell you.” And it’s a Thermador so it was an expensive appliance. But when people come and they don’t know what they’re doing—you might have five or six people come service the unit. I probably had eight appointments on just my dishwasher. Whereas Bob's came out before and I knew that the tech was a reputable person. He’s an excellent person in terms of being able to fix things. There were two pieces of the blower that were replaced.

The new process of submitting online claims with American Home Shield is better. The old online process was vague and you couldn't really put a whole lot of detail in it. But now, it's easier to explain your situation and you're able to submit your issues all at once. There were multiple claims that I had entered online at the same time and it was filed just as one incident. The guy from E&K Contracting came out and fixed 90% of it and then for one issue, he had to get a piece to get it fixed. He came back within just a few days and completed it. The quality of the work done was awesome. Everything has been perfect since the repair.

I tried at this time to submit my claims via online and it was sticky. I tried to be more tech-savvy, but chatting just doesn’t seem to move as fast. What you do is you go on there and you go, “Okay, I’m gonna do it chat.” So, I thought I could handle everything via chatting, but it was just slow and awkward. I don’t know if the girl was handling two or three clients at once, but it was very stumbly. I would sit there, I’d type in, “Okay. Yeah, I have a problem with the upstairs toilet and it’s leaking between the bowl and the tank.” And then maybe 150 seconds later, she might get back to me and then reiterate what the problem was.
That was our first time trying that, and it still ended up being on the phone. All of a sudden, the chat just went from here, “Oh, I gotta call you,” and it ended up on the phone anyway. But it had to end up on the phone because they wanted the credit card information over the phone instead of via chat, and I could see that. I wasn’t doing it via phone app. I was on my laptop. The rep did well. She did everything fine. Everything came out well. It was just sticky. We could’ve got it done in one-third of the time.
Patriot Plumbing came out and did a fine job. They diagnosed it well and repaired it in a timely fashion and it no longer leaks. We’re happy. We haven't had to call AHS many times, but the few times we did, everything got done and done well. Going online was just a little sticky for a person that is older. AHS is so used to calling someone and getting something accomplished in a relatively short manner. We hardly use them so we always sit there and think that we’re overpaying them. But when they do something, it does get done quickly.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for my central heating and air. I spoke with a representative and they didn’t understand what I was saying or calling about. When I called back to get everything sorted out, it was a little frustrating but finally got it taken care of. The contractor sent did a great job. He had to get a part. He came back the next day, got everything fixed and sorted out. AHS gave me a pretty good experience other than the language barrier a little bit. I would definitely recommend them. I’ve actually recommended them to family members and friends already.

One of my two AC units was shutting down and it needed to be repaired. When the guy came out to my house, he listened to me as to what sounds the air conditioner was making, what was happening and he troubleshooted from there. He had tools on hand and he found out what the problem was, which was a leak in the upstairs unit that some big part needed to be replaced. All in all, I really enjoyed this experience. It was awesome and if anything else happens to my AC unit, I would hope that someone from this company gets called. That’s how professional the guy was.

For a couple of years now, I've been with American Home Shield and I’m very pleased with them. So far, they’ve done everything that they said they’re gonna do. And when I call to make a claim, their reps are fine. The only complaint that I have is that there have been a couple of times where I really couldn’t understand what the individual was saying because of their accent. Other than that, I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. When I had a leak issue, they sent out Mr. Clean Drain. Their service was great. They got right to it and fixed the leak.

The motor went out on the pump so I went online to submit a claim to AHS . I wasn’t entirely sure what the issue was with the pool, so I picked just what I thought was best of being right. But overall, I thought their online process was user-friendly. Aaron Pools came out when they were supposed to. They were good and friendly, but they didn’t call for a few days. The website said that they were gonna call me the next day, they didn’t call ’til that Monday.

I had an issue recently with my fan for my AC. I submitted a claim online to AHS and they sent me a text within five minutes with the vendor. Techs from Rose Heating and Air Conditioning came out and they were super good. They ordered a part and called me to schedule an appointment. Since the repair, I've been 100% satisfied with the performance of my AC. Overall, AHS has been good to me. They do an excellent job.

The air conditioner would not cool and a wire outside was burnt. I filed a claim over the phone with AHS through their automated system and the tech from Next Gen Air Conditioning, Heating & Ventilation came out the next day. He took care of everything and was 1,000% better than whoever was sent for my last claim. That other guy said he’d be back within two days but he never showed back up. I also had to pay for everything last time because I didn’t want AHS to send him out there again. But this man that they sent out recently was very nice to my son and I hope they keep him. I've recommended AHS to others, too.

My dryer wasn't drying. I would have a comforter in there and it was saying that it was done drying because it plays this little chime. But it wasn't done and I'd have to move the comforter around then put it back in. About three minutes later, it would go off again. But the comforter wasn't even warm. American Home Shield gave me Beyer Appliance Service, Inc. as the contractor and their technician didn't actually do anything to the dryer. But he told me to stop using dryer sheets and to put in some dryer balls to move the clothes around. He also said he tested the heat and it was up to 150 and there was no problem with that.
There was also this pungent smell. If the clothes were coming out of the dryer, it just smelled awful. I got the dryer balls, and I stopped using the dryer sheets. I've done two loads of laundry since the technician left and I haven't had any problems with the smell. And the clothes seem to be drying okay. The dryer balls move the clothes around.
The technician also fixed the refrigerator. I have a side-by-side one and there is a metal bar where the door is attached to that metal bar. It kept getting super hot. What had happened was the fan that was in the back of the refrigerator that cooled it down was a smaller fan that went inside the refrigerator as opposed to the outside of the refrigerator. The company itself that made the refrigerator put the wrong fan in the back of the refrigerator. The technician put a bigger fan in the back. I'm gonna go to Lowe's where I bought the refrigerator and let them know what's going on with it.
Another thing was I was kinda disappointed that American Home Shield took the money from my account automatically days prior to the technician even coming out. That kinda shocked me. Usually, I would pay the person after the job was done. You don't take money from someone's account three or four days prior to the technician even coming out. But all in all, I was very satisfied with the technician and the job that they did.

I called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative about the stoppage. Crown Plumbing was the original contractor that they assigned. I used them in the past and they’re more like salesman or an agent. When the guy called, before he even came out, he told me he had to use hammers. And he told me that it was gonna cost 2 to $300 for him to come out. I told him that I have $75 deductible, and he was kinda rude about it. I remembered a company years ago who did that same thing and I put it on my list that I do not wanna use those people. Lo and behold, I called in, and it was Crown coming. It was on my list from 2015, it says, “Not to use.”
One of the things that the tech said that I did not like was he made a comment that two other people from American Home Shield, he went out to their houses during the week, and he had to turn around and come right back because of their piping situations. So, he wanted me to go ahead and pay the 2 to $300 upfront, and then he wouldn’t have to come back, which to me, had a great deal of concern of, “Did you not do the job fully to making these people come back?” And the fact that he basically said that I needed to pay that 2 to $300 for him to come out, which is crazy. That’s not how it worked. After that, American Home Shield sent out Drain Genie, and I love them. They fixed the main line in the basement.
American Home Shield really needs to focus on each customer and make sure they’re checking the screen because I went through five days of not being able to use our bathroom or take a bath in the house. Because of the fact that the very first person I called in did not pay attention to their own notes where it says “Do not use them.” Everybody else seems to find them, but that person scheduled them to come out, and that delayed it. So, even though I made the call on Thursday, the people didn’t come out until a later day.
After what happened, the girl at the American Home Shield did call and cancelled Crown Plumbing. The tech was supposed to come out between 1:00 and 3:00 that afternoon. About 20 minutes after we cancelled, he showed at 8:00 in the morning. I saw them on the camera, and they were already there. When I called the American Home Shield rep back, I had to go through all of the crap again with another guy, Jason, who would not get me through to the escalated claim, who I had already been dealing with somebody. So, that made me even more angrier because there were two representatives that totally could have avoided all of this, but did not take the time. And I had American Home Shield for 24 years in this house and 10 years with my other house 10. So, I’m not a new customer.
I apologize for the mix up with assigning you a contractor you were not comfortable with making repairs. My name is Stacy and I would like to make sure your concerns were addressed as I've emailed you in an effort to assist with a resolution.

Total Air care came out for my AC problem and it went well. The tech was very professional and he was good at giving us the information. Initially, his assessment was it could be one of three things. But he said once he got into it, he’d be able to let us know and he did. He explained it and went through every single detail about what the problem was and he told us what we could do from this point forward to make sure that the situation doesn’t reoccur. This is the second time we've used American Home Shield, and both times we had a positive result.

I've been with Home Shield for three months and so far, I like it. I asked their help for an appliance issue via their internet page and that went well. The contractor called me, asked when it will be convenient for me and made an appointment. The service guy came on time and solved the problem right ahead.

The AC was blowing out warm air. I filed a claim on the Home Shield website which was user-friendly. Service Contractors of Texas had to fix or replace the capacitor on the AC. Easy fix once they got out there. They were professional, clean and they fixed the AC real quick.

The washing machine was having an issue going from wash to rinse, and then from rinse to spin. The contractor was good. It only took them a moment to figure out what the problem was. It was a timer for our washing machine. The fellow came out quickly and he did really well. I talked to a lady at American Home Shield and I was on hold for about 20 or 30 minutes waiting for her. But that was okay. I know it’s a busy company. She gave me the information, and she supposedly sent me an email, but I just got off work. I need to go home and look it up and see what’s available for us. But it makes me sad. I’d really like to find a timer for it. It's a 16-year old washer and dryer, but it’s in beautiful shape. It just has bad timing and it's not switching. But it’s still working. If we could get a part, we would’ve had it within two business days. So, that would’ve been great. So far, I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. Everybody has gotten back to me fine.

American Home Shield is worth getting, especially if your house is a little bit older. We've had them for a year and we’ve called them for issues we've had on the water heater, the furnace, the refrigerator, and our dishwasher. We had good luck with all of them. Our refrigerator kept going off and we had the repairman come out and check the electrical behind the refrigerator. That was the problem so we called the electrician out and they replaced the electrical box behind it. So far, it’s working.
We don’t live there at the property all the time and we have not completely moved down yet. When we explained to AHS that we only had a day, we always had the people able to accompany us and come out. They’ve all been able to repair what needed to be done in one visit. It’s also usually pretty quick and we’ve been happy with them. I would definitely take out another policy like it.

I came home one time and there was a lake on my floor and my kitchen was hanging down where I could touch it. SWAT Plumbing came out and it went well. They explained everything to me. The AC unit is up in the attic and the emergency drain is attached to one of the sinks in the upstairs bathroom and that was what the problem was. They mitigated that and took care of everything. Then, the restoration people came and they handled all of the water damage. The guys dried everything out and then the contractor came out and did an estimate on everything.
I work out of town and they told me that as soon as I get back, we can start working and get things taken care of as far as the sheetrock and everything. I talked to the adjustor and he told me he had already sent everything forward to the insurance company. When I get back next week, they told me to make sure I check my mailbox and the check and everything should be there by then. I couldn’t ask for anything better with the contractor. Before I could even call, they were contacting me and making sure that I was in the loop on everything that was going on. It went like clockwork and it was very well handled by their part.
When something happens to your home, you want everything right there on the spot. I know it’s a process and that everything can’t be handled right then on the spot. But everything was good with Home Shield, even the follow-up calls just to reassure me that everything was gonna be okay and to bring me back into the perspective that it’s just a house, it’s not a life. It was very suitable and I was pleased.

I'm a Realtor so I sell warranties. I've had different warranties over the years and air conditioning is always the sore spot in warranty because nobody wants to work with warranty companies. But when I called American Home Shield for my AC claim, it was the best experience I've had with an air conditioning company. The AHS rep was pleasant and polite. But his accent was quite thick and foreign so I asked him to repeat several times. I had a little trouble understanding him.
Crane's was our contractor and they came out the next day. They were really good. They were polite, prompt, and they kept me posted. They were very responsive and did the work efficiently. It was everything you could ask for. The air conditioner is now cooling and I'm hoping that it keeps doing that. I've had some less pleasant experiences in the past but this particular claim was well handled. Crane's was the best I've ever used in a warranty company. I would recommend AHS too.

The power wheel was making a water sound and it just came out of nowhere. We decided to call American Home Shield and when the contractor came, he found the problem. He did a great job. He said that he had seen it before and he showed me the part that was bad. He said he had to order the part through AHS and as soon as they get the part, they would come by and put the part on. He said Monday or Tuesday but then he said that they only come in our area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I wish they would come by a little bit earlier. The response from AHS was good. It was just the HVAC place which they sent. We sent the claim on the 28th and they didn't come by until the 3rd. I love American Home Shield. They are awesome and I appreciate it. I have recommended them five times and three of them bought into them already.

I filed an AC claim with American Home Shield. It was very easy. We moved from a different home warranty to American Home Shield and it was really very simple. You go online and you submit a claim and they get with you right away. You get an email and they give you a phone number for the people who they're contracting through, and it was great. Westside Air Conditioning came out for the AC. Everything went well. I had to have a callback because the AC was still acting up. American Home Shield is now charging me another 100 on top of the 100, but it's for the same issue. They said that I wouldn't get charged again because it was the same thing, but then they charged me again. Other than that, I was happy with everything. I had a friend that was asking me about our home warranty company and I gave her their name.

We left American Home Shield a couple of years ago because I was disappointed with how things had gone, and things had gotten a lot better when I came back. My recent experience has been very positive. We had an issue with a gas furnace. We submitted a claim online and MS Services came out almost the next day. They were quick and they took care of everything. My wife told the tech what was going on, he asked a few questions, and then he opened the furnace and he knew exactly what the problem was. He just put in a new battery and the whole thing was fixed. By the time he took the screws under the back of the furnace, it took him three minutes. My wife was so impressed. It was a simple fix and they showed us what had gone wrong. My wife was really happy with them throughout the process.

I went online to submit a claim regarding our heater and it was an easy process. Then, AHS sent out JFrank Heating & Air and the contractor was professional and timely. I have two ACs and I can hear one making a noise. The heater had vibrations, so the contractor replaced the wheel. He first thought it was the motor, but I still hear the noise from the outside. And he was supposed to come back last week, but he didn’t turn up. I didn’t call him for the AC repair yet since the heater went on.

We recently bought the house and we were having a huge difference in the temperature on the basement level and the main level. We submitted a claim online through American Home Shield and their website was easy to use. I was contacted within the 48-hour window but we missed each other a few times and missed voicemails, but we got in touch and got an appointment set up by the end of the week. The guy from Cozy Comfort was really nice. He was here on time and he did a full survey of the systems inside and outside. We went over our concerns, and then together, we tracked some of the ducting lines and set up a few potential resolutions to the issue.
The AC has been good, but there's definitely still improvement that we would have to make and something we would have to prepare for. We had the filter fixed and the system cleaned. But there's a vent that's covered up by the current flooring and we might have to open the floor to expose that vent to get the cooling we really need on the main level.

Hurliman Heating & AC worked on my heater in our apartment. It is good now. The contractor was really nice. I submitted this claim online by myself. The website was fine. Within days, someone got there right away. I had them come to do a service call, and so I had to pay $75 for that. When they got there, it ended up being more, so I had to pay another $100. I would never do their service check-ups anymore, the $75. I did that for my first check-up with them, and it ended up being a problem. Just call them in for the $100 even if it ends up being $25 more. But I really enjoy having American Home Shield.

There was a time when the water from my dishwasher was coming up my sink where the garbage disposal was at. I called American Home Shield and the rep whom I spoke with told me who would be calling me. She told me if they didn't call me within 24 hours to call her back and let her know. Amtech Services called promptly and told me the exact day when they would come to fix my garbage disposal. The contractor had an emergency on that Friday and they came out on Thursday instead to fix it. The tech explained to me everything that was going on. He checked the dishwasher and he told me what the problem was. Then he messaged American Home Shield and told them that the problem was the garbage disposal, not the dishwasher. He then told me somebody is going to contact me. AHS contacted me and thereafter, the tech replaced the garbage disposal.

All Appliance was great, fast and very helpful. They’ve been out two or three different times because our AC wasn't turning on. The first time, they couldn’t reproduce the problem so they were trying to troubleshoot from afar. By the time they came back here, the air conditioner was turning on. So, they did what they thought it could be. So we thought for a little bit that it was fixed, but then it started doing it again. And then the most recent time they came, they said that they think we need to have an electrician come out. ‘Cause they’ve expended their resources, did what they think they could do, so they wanna have it looked at by an electrician. So, I have an electrician coming today for it. But now, I’m not sure if weather is cooled off so much. Because it’s not like we're solely reliant on the air conditioner right now.

American Home Shield have given me excellent service in the past. They are a great company. I gave them 1 stars because of a problem with a policy they have that I was not aware of. I had to have a replacement of a French Door Refrigerator. I made the mistake of accepting the one American Home Shield recommended, without seeing it. It was delivered, I assembled it, immediately realized it was not a good refrigerator. The refrigerator would moved when you open the freezer door. I was unable to get the ice holder container tray to stay in place when you open the freezer door. Was afraid if I forced it, I would break the plastic. Manual did not have instructions on how to install it properly in this model.
I immediately call American Home Shield. I told them the problem I was having, asked could I returned this one, pay restocking fee and upgrade at my expense to a better model. They said no. Once it's delivered and working, I cannot return, exchange or upgrade. I was told to call the manufacture (GE,warranty) to come out and repair the problem. (What a hassle, still waiting.) My original refrigerator cost $2700, could not be repaired because of a discounted part. Now I am stuck with a piece of junk!!!

I am a documented customer. They were always very slow to respond to service calls, so I ended paying out of pocket. Once my policy expired, they tried to renew without authorization and kept billing me. They started sending threatening collections e-mails. I called them again, got hung-up on. Went on the chat and finally someone cancelled the policy. They still sent me a bill to cancel, even though the policy had expired. DON"T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL REGRET IT. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.

This warranty company is complete scam and rip off. We had a few appliance issues and had to deal with them more than once. They send out incompetent technicians and give you the run around. The only thing they are good at is collecting their $75 service fee. None of our appliances were ever fixed and we have been trying to get them fixed for SEVERAL MONTHS. They do not reply to emails or return phone calls. Honestly the worst company I have dealt with in 20 years and a total scam. AVOID.

I have had issues with this warranty. Anytime something is broken, you must pay $75. In my case, the issue was two broken sump pumps, each at a different time. The first time my sump pump was malfunctioning and flooded the basement multiple times. I called Home Shield and paid $75 and they said it would be replaced. A guy came over (independent contractor), I don't even think he had tools on him. He plugged in the pump and heard it running and said its not broken. Obviously it was broken because it kept flooding the basement. He said it must not be able to turn on (make a noise is really what he meant). He left and I paid $75 for nothing.
This happened again with my other sump pump, same issue, and they wanted to charge me $75 to have the same guy come over. I can't deal with this. I had a plumber come over and said the pump is clearly broken and must be replaced. This company will try and avoid replacing broken stuff in your home. The flooding caused a lot of damages and I had to pay a ton. What a waste of time and money.

Our AC has been serviced 5 times since May. Today was the 5th and about $400 later. Today the technician from company number 3 said that a coil needs to be replaced and more refrigerant needs to be added. Looking at about $400 more dollars. What really frustrates me is that the original company diagnosed the same issue but the coil wasn’t replaced or fixed. I keep paying for service request fees for these companies to come out every month and do patchwork and right after the 30 day warranty my ac is out again. How can a master technician and multiple services technician not fix this reoccurring problem. I don’t mind the paying part but I do mind paying for the same issue 5 times. At this point AHS should feel ashamed of taking my money for an issue they haven’t corrected. I also emailed and filled out a satisfactory surgery and no response. Poor way to do business.

My built-in ice maker wasn’t making the right ice. I submitted a claim to AHS and they assigned Appliance Connection who sent out a technician to troubleshoot it. My daughter was home and the technician was a really nice fella. He figured out what was wrong and ordered the part. Then two days later, they made an appointment to fix it. So, it was three days later from the technician coming in to troubleshoot that they had the part and they were ready to fix it. A different guy came and put on the part and the ice maker was working that afternoon. I'd tell my friends and family that they should participate with American Home Shield.

I reported five issues in my original claim with AHS. They were only small issues, but Swift Plumbing didn't take care of them because AHS did not inform of the other issue. The contractor told me AHS told him to take care of the toilet clog, but they didn't tell him about the handle thing, and I need to talk to American Shield. But he was very professional and it was an easy process with him. He himself figured out the things that needed to be done and he took care of it. I'm satisfied.

I called AHS for some rekeying to be done for a new home and the rep was very efficient. Sooner Lock was out there the next day. They changed all the locks pretty quickly and even showed us how to change the electronic keypad on our garage door. They didn’t have to show us how to do that, but they did. We have no problems with the locks. Sometimes you can get a key that won’t turn the lock unless you pull it out but these work perfectly.

One fan on the air conditioning went all the time. I went online to submit a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor came out, checked it out, and had to replace the relay. The tech was fantastic. He was very, very nice, and informative, and even told us about some other programs that we can look into. The air conditioner has been wonderful and even my bill went down.

I had a filter pump that was having problems and I submitted a claim for it via the internet to American Home Shield. Their online process was very easy and Reflection Pools was out at our place within a day or two. The first time they came out, it was for a seal but then they had to come out a second time for a new pump. They fixed both issues.

My husband put in a claim for a microwave and the contractor came within a day. They took the time to explain what was going on instead of just assuming that, “Hey, we’ll just change it. We won’t tell them anything.” The microwave has been working really well since. They were great.

I called American Home Shield and complained about the service provider that was issued the service ticket for my AC claim. I had them out multiple times and they didn't do anything each time. Aside from being always late, they were also coming in really late in the night. It was unprofessional. AHS swapped vendors and gave me Harkins AC Heating & Controls. Everything about this company was professional and great. They got my AC up and running. Everything was good. I've been with AHS since February of last year and I will more than likely renew with them.

I just bought the house this last summer so I've just done a little bit moving in and did discover the leak in the pipe during inspection. I've had dealings with American Home Shield before another house, and as a real estate agent, I'm aware of Home Shield. They were definitely for me. I didn't even realize the pipe would be covered, and I started looking at the contract and found it easy to ask what's covered. Having the contract that I can read was nice as well. I was very pleased. The plumber was fabulous. The process in the beginning was a little disconcerting. It was almost like American Home Shield wanted the $75 before we figured out what was going on. And then, the first contractor that was supposed to be contacting, never contacted me. But I don't blame him. He's an hour and a half out town.
The second contractor ended up coming and doing the work, but they're two hours out of the town that I live in. I was really surprised that we had to go to a smaller outlined community to find a contractor, but I'm glad that I ended up with the guy that AHS got me because he was very thorough and very helpful. He shared insights besides doing the job, and he explained before he even started, "This is what I'm seeing. This is what I think we need to do, and let's take a look at all of the pipes that are connected." He was excellent that he knew what he was doing and was very kind to share his knowledge with us. He went about doing a better job than a lot of people I knew.

I submitted a claim online for my refrigerator and American Home Shield sent GE Appliances. The outside frame is heating up and even though the unit is still cooling in the inside, it’s getting warmer and warmer every day. I had to get a refrigerator from Home Depot and I’m still waiting for it, which won’t be in till November.

I had an issue with a hot water heater and I submitted a claim with AHS originally back in January. They sent Universal out here and that was worst experience I’ve ever had. Then they came back out again in February and that was a bad experience as well. Then I had to wait and I called back AHS again. The lady told me that she would not send that company back again and that they would send someone else. But then, she said that that was the only company they had and they couldn't find another company that could come and assist me. We went back and forth but I never heard from anybody or from the girl.
Then last month, I called back and I spoke with a young lady. She told me that she would take care of it and she did. She was very nice and very adamant about getting someone out here to assist me. She sent a new company out, Ark La Flow, and I had a good experience with them. They were very helpful and nice. All in all, it was great experience because I had been looking around to change from American Home Shield because I’ve been dealing with them for 10 years and never had any problem up until the last two times with Universal and when I had problems with my air conditioner upstairs. I also submitted a claim for my AC but I never got it serviced. And I had to drop that simply because that was when I started having problems with the kidney and had to go from one thing to another, which is a medical thing.
Other than that, I’ve always referred friends and family to AHS. Being in the military, I have referred people because American Home Shield was the best thing since cornbread. However, the last two experiences I had with the air conditioner got me calling other companies trying to find out what they can do. But since AHS did the hot water heater thing with Ark La Flow, I'll bypass. They are a fantastic company.

I had nothing but an awesome experience with Chris. He was the plumber from A & B Plumbing, the vendor American Home Shield assigned to my claim. Chris came both times. Unfortunately, the first time he came I wasn’t able to recreate what the issue was. But he gave me his direct number and he said to let him know whatever the error that the unit was doing. I followed up with him a couple of days later and he gave me some guidance, which I thought was awesome even though I didn’t think he had to.
I ended up reaching out to American Home Shield a second time to have Chris come back out. I was very pleased with him. He was very professional and smart when it came to that line of work. Everything was good. I've had no issues since his repair. We've been with American Home Shield for a little bit. This is a new house and I moved here two years ago. I have the warranty for two years in this house. In our previous home, we had AHS for three years.

We had some plumbing issues in the two bathrooms. One toilet was making weird noises, the other one would continue to run and both weren't flushing well. I went online to set up an appointment, then American Home Shield called me back and they sent a contractor that was great. He came right out, did the job very quickly and efficiently and the toilets are working much better now. He even did a little extra. My sink had a dirty filter and the water wasn't coming out right. He helped me clean it out. He was very nice.
We had a plumber come out without American Home Shield one time and it was 60 bucks just for them to walk in the door. Paying 75 for a service call and getting everything fixed, that's definitely a savings. It's very helpful to have American Home Shield. We got it through the former owners who bought it for us, and we're planning on renewing it. That's definitely worth it.

Submitting claims with AHS is simple. I prefer going through the internet and so far, things worked out pretty well every time I've had a claim. Recently, I had one for the AC and Next Generation Air Conditioning & Heating came out. When the tech showed up, it was a 20-minute fix. He replaced some parts that he had in his truck, which was good, and he was done. The air conditioner worked after that.

I had an issue with the outside faucet on both front and the back. I had water running for four day and my water bill was crazy. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online but I couldn’t put the issue of what I was having. It only allowed me to say that I had a faucet issue. To me, that’s considered an emergency but there’s no way to code it. So the issue wasn't considered an emergency. The process needs to be improved upon. They should allow the customer to add comments on the website. Once I got a call, I was able to explain the issue. The contractors have come out a couple of times and they do outstanding work. I had them listed with American Home Shield as a contractor of choice and I would highly recommend them for anybody looking for a plumber. Overall, American Home Shield gives me the quality that I need and I’ve told people that they need to have them too.

My claim went well. My refrigerator was not cooling and I called Home Shield because I wanted immediate service because it had to do with the refrigerator. My interactions with Home Shield were very good and A & R Services came out. Those guys were really nice. They did the diagnosis and figured out that one of the parts was not working. It was basically the motherboard so they replaced it.

Submitting a claim with American Home Shield is getting a lot better. Before, when you will call, it will be like an hour on the line before you get somebody on the phone. Now, it’s fast. Sometimes they ask you the same question again, and then you explain to them where you want for the response to come to a particular email, and still, they send it to another. But our plumbing claim went pretty good. It was very prompt when the tech from Frank’s Plumbing called me. He came, fixed the issue, and he was very professional.

I went online to put in a claim regarding my AC and the process was easy. Southern Air Conditioning and Heating came out. I sat in and talked to the guy, named Rocky. He told me exactly what was going on and we tried a couple of different things and it didn’t work. We finally figured it out what it was, and he went and got the part and replaced it. I was very pleased with the service and the guy. This claim went very well. It’s well-worth the money with American Home Shield. It’s a lifesaver. I’m retired, 70 years old, and we live on a fixed income. I also had a friend who’s in the real estate business and told me about AHS.

I had a leak for about three weeks I didn't know about. And in order to get 50% off the cost of the washer, I need a receipt and I've been trying to get American Home Shield to send me a receipt. And I would rather pay the full amount of the washer than try and call them again. They said they would mail it out. They couldn't email it to me. It's been more than 10 days. I can actually get emails from American Home Shield, but not a receipt for 75 stupid dollars. So, I am really pissed. If there was another company I could use, I would.
I've been with AHS for 15 years and whenever I submit a claim they give me a name of somebody. I can call them immediately, that's fine. But this is really hanging me up because I'm worried about the money and they're not being responsive. And in this day and age, why can't you just email me a receipt? We're in the 21st century here.

I've had American Home Shield for two years and it's great. We had A-TX Express come out for an air condition repair and their technician did a great job. The motor in our AC burned and he change a new one for me. It was very fast.

I called American Home Shield to submit a claim for my air conditioner and the rep set up the claim. Someone had my appointment that day, but I had to initiate contacting them to find out when they were coming. The contractor was very professional and seemed to diagnose the problem quickly. We were very pleased. The air conditioner wasn't kicking on and once the technician replaced the things to get it to kick on, the thermostat also wasn't working. The repair was fine and since then, it has been good so far.

Our water heater was leaking from the bottom. We noticed it on a Sunday where we had a huge puddle on the floor. So we called American Home Shield and they called us on Monday and got all the information as far as what kind of water heater it was and then the contractor came on Tuesday and replaced the whole thing that same day. So it was great. This is the first time we used this, so we were happy with how everything happened.

My experience with Alfa Appliances was great. They had to come out for the freezer that was not working. It was not making ice and the fridge was not cold. I called a claim in to American Home Shield on a Sunday night. I did the automated message and five minutes later, somebody call me. I love the service lady I talked to. The contractor from Alfa Appliances was the best part. That guy is amazing. He showed me the piece that was broken inside the freezer. The freezer and the icemaker are working great right now. I love American Home Shield.

I used to sell American Home Shield's policies in Michigan, so I wanted them and so far, so good. When our AC wasn't working, we just called them and Integrity Air Conditioning came out, fixed our AC and we were pleased. At first, I looked up Integrity and they didn't have very good comments on their website. We were a little apprehensive and I called American Home Shield back. I talked to the woman and she satisfied me with her answers. American Home Shield and Integrity were good. We live in Florida, we need air and we have it. It was a good experience.

The AC unit wasn't working. It was just blowing air, but it wasn't air-conditioned. I filed a claim with American Home Shield, and I scheduled for someone to come out the same day. The technician was friendly. He was on-time. He was knowledgeable. He taught me a little bit about how AC units work, so I understood what he was looking at and the fix he was going to do. Lindsay Company came out. The guy was knowledgeable about what he was doing and he told me some things that had been wrong about the plumbing in the house. He asked me who did it and I told him that I didn’t know ‘cause I just purchased the house. The people didn't tell me that they had something going wrong in the house. The guy fixed the problem and gave me other solutions and suggestions, so he was good. The only thing with American Home Shield is that I still wasn’t happy about the fact that I didn't have the appliances added on for them. So, I have to do that and see how much that’s gonna cost to get it added. But I’m satisfied at the moment.

I smelled gas near my water heater, and I had already tried the gas company and the people that service my well. I've called it into American Home Shield, and the third time was a charm, but they got a plumber out here to assess. The first plumber that they assigned to me couldn't work on propane water heaters. So, they sent it back into the system, and then, the second plumber I got assigned to me was not available for four days was the soonest they could get to me, so I was pretty upset that I didn't have a sense of urgency. So, I called and spoke to a representative. And knowing that it was a possible propane issue, he increased my urgency for safety purposes, and I had a plumber out here the very next day.
Since the repairs, I haven't smelled gas again. And the plumber that they sent me was very helpful. He wasn't gonna bill me or call anything that wasn't a problem, a problem. He was really honest and dependable. I've recommended AHS. The plumber I ended up with was Tony's Plumbing Solutions. I highly recommend them. The one that I had before that, His & Hers Plumbing, I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. They weren't helpful.

The AC motor went out and the compressor. I submitted the claim on a Saturday morning, and so, the contractor was scheduled to come out on Monday. The technician they sent was great. He did everything the same day. But I do have a complaint about American Home Shield that I’m not really happy about. I told their answering service that I had four kids, a dog, and my mom, elderly person in the house, and that this was an emergency situation. They pushed it through, but apparently, what I learned when the technician came out on Monday, is that American Home Shield did not push it through as an urgent request.
I learned from the company that American Home Shield has to push it through as high priority to the contract company in order for them to actually see it as a high priority request. So, I could call all day long saying that it’s a priority to me, but American Home Shield has to be the one to push it to through priority. And I just found that kind of odd because I spoke with them to tell them that it was priority, but I guess it wasn’t priority to them, to push it through as priority. My mom is diabetic with high blood pressure, so I had to go spend 200 freaking dollars for a hotel. I’m looking to replace them. I need to find out when my contract is up ‘cause I’m shopping around. I’m dissatisfied right now.

I put in a claim with Home Shield when my downstairs air conditioning unit wasn't cooling. I'm satisfied with both technicians who came out. As a matter of fact, I've owned homes for 40 years and had home warranties for a good period of that time, and it's one of the best experiences I've had. They were very knowledgeable and found the problem quickly. They gave me a very, very, very good detailed analysis of what the problem was, and what it took to fix it, so I was very happy.
The tech pointed me in the right direction and there was another issue. But I was very happy with the service he provided, the in-depth investigation, troubleshooting that he did, and he eliminated the air conditioner, so it wasn't the air conditioner. The problem was I had some water in the stairs going up to my property and that was leaking. I had another claim when there was a bad compressor switch wiring and the tech replaced all the wiring going to the compressor. For whatever reason, it overheated and the wires burned off. He also did a operational test on the unit, gave me some pointers, and left.

American Plumbing & Heating fixed what needed to be done. The plumber, Marcel, was great and he did everything. He came out, checked it, and then went and ordered the parts. He got the parts, came back and fixed both of my showers. It was a two-part thing. He did the first part just fine. But my true issue is with my tankless water heater and the way they are. I’m not quite sure what I’m gonna do about this second part, but it’s not an issue that Marcel has to deal with. I’ve had American Home Shield on and off with several of my rentals and this is the first time I have it on my home. It’s fine, except that my house is only five years old and I don’t necessarily have any problems with things. So, I’m gonna keep it on my rentals but I’m not gonna keep it on my house anymore.

We've been with American Home Shield since I bought this house about a year and a half ago and now I'm having doubts with next year's renewal. I made a service call today because my kitchen sink is stopped up, and then I didn't hear from anybody and went on to the computer to see about the request. It said I'm supposed to call them and usually, they're supposed to call me. I called them, and then the plumber said it was gonna be two days, and apparently, their contract says that's acceptable.
A stopped-up kitchen sink is a bit more important than two days, so I told them to cancel the request and I would figure something else out. When I called American Home Shield back, I got no satisfaction. I couldn't understand most of what they were saying and they couldn't help me because the contractor hadn't done anything wrong. Also, the plumbing company AHS hooked me up with doesn't have very good reviews themselves, so they need to pick better people.

I had a great experience during my recent claim with American Home Shield. The online process I went through was a piece of cake. Dan's Pro-Lock came out and did service. At the time, I didn't have an understanding of what the Home Shield covered. The tech explained it to me, six locks and went to the whole process. Also, I had a lot of people here doing stuff. He was very accommodating while they were trying to do stuff then.

We requested service from AHS for the icemaker this week. And then the technician came, and he repaired it already. We've had AHS for about two years and their phone service could be better. I tried to call in a claim last year, and sometimes we had to wait about an hour or we were on hold for a long time.

When I called Home Shield for our water heater, I had a great interaction with the representative I spoke with and a contractor was sent out within 2 days. It was an appointment that works for me and it was more the availability for me that was the issue. Waters Edge Plumbing was the contractor and everything was perfect. They were very professional and there were no problems at all. Our water heater was outdated, and we had a hole on the top that was leaking up the flue pipe. So, we had it replaced but it needed to be ordered. It took another three days to come in, and then it was installed that day. We have had coverage with American Home Shield for about a few months now since we just moved into the house, and everything is working so far.

I filed a claim for my stove and my dishwasher online and it was a no-brainer. However, the first contractor and I had a language barrier. I told him what was going on but he didn’t understand what I was saying, and he pretty much wrote what he wanted to write. He said that we poured oil into the microwave. I was like, “How am I gonna pour oil into a microwave?” He was like, “Oh.” And then, when he got parts, he was like, “Oh, I don’t know if this working correct because I don’t have the instructions with me for your…” It was a whole bunch of negativity. Then he denied my claim on the dishwasher saying that there was pest in there. But I got Terminix here on rotation every two weeks to make sure I don’t have pests because I have three kids.
When I was able to get that second person in from Sears, he was very helpful and he understood. He has been here three or four times trying to get the microwave fixed until he told the last person, “Look, there's no way to fix it. We just have to change it.” So, that has been ordered and it's on its way. And then he told me that I gotta put another separate claim on the dishwasher so that Sears can come out again. So, I have to pay for another claim for that.
Also, he recommended that I get a certain documentation from my pest control saying that this is good to go, so that when they come in, they see it, so that I can tell them this is pest-free. And the buttons don’t work. They need to be replaced. He was ultra helpful and I'm super happy with him. They're usually the ones that come in, so I don't know why AHS sent the other people. They weren’t helpful at all. But other than that, I’ve never had an issue with AHS. It’s just that one contractor. That’s it. The service is great. They're flexible. When I don’t pay, they send me an email so I can go ahead and make sure that I remember. I would recommend AHS.

For as long as I’ve always had American Home Shield, whenever anything happened that I needed something fixed and I made a phone call or I got on the internet, they also came. I had a plumbing issue and made a claim online. This process was easier because AHS d has long wait times when I call. The contractor who came, ASAP Plumbing Service, had great customer service. He was very polite and professional. Everything went perfectly fine.
Aside from this plumbing issue, I had one other claim that I had at the same time. It was about the stove. There was a miscommunication with the company and AHS. AHS couldn't get the company on the line and we couldn't get them on the line either. Things were stalled for another week. I couldn't switch to get another vendor because AHS said the company already picked up the tab. Eventually, AHS closed it out and the job went to another company. I don’t wanna run into no situation like this again. The company was Pinnacle Appliances.

I filed a claim to AHS for the refrigerator freezer. The issue turned out to be an intermittent thermostat. The contractor who came out was great. The only thing with AHS is when you submit a claim to the time that you get somebody, it can be a little lengthy, which was frustrating. The process to get a claim going always seems really slow. Other than that, they’ve been fine.

It's nice to be able to just hop on American Home Shield's website and get an issue fixed pretty quickly. I was happy with that and it's good to know that it's in your back pocket for certain issues that may come up with a house that you're also getting to know. I submitted a claim recently and their online process was really easy.
The techs from Western Mechanical were great as well. They called me the next day after I requested them to come out and the service provider was a thoughtful guy trying to figure out what my issue was. It wasn't super straightforward and he kind of went through methodically seeing if there might be a leak coming from our HVAC. And he was determined that he didn't think it was the HVAC system itself, but rather the drain was clogged up. So, he was able to fix that and when I asked if it was a plumber issue or an HVAC, he said that it was in between. But said he fixed it for me and I shouldn't have any more problems. And so far, so good.

I have two outside hose bibbs for water hoses, and my water bill that I received, which comes in quarterly, was $700. I didn’t know the hose bibbs were leaking. So, the people at the county told me to turn everything off, and then, by process of elimination, see when the meter would run and when it wouldn’t run. And lo and behold, when you don’t even know there’s any water running, it was running to both outside hose bibbs. So, I called American Home Shield, and they contacted Patriot Plumbing, and Patriot fixed the issue.
The contractor from Patriot was courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable, and knew exactly what to do. They apologized because they didn’t have the parts because no one in the area had parts for these particular kind of faucets. So, they had to order them and come out the following week. They did an excellent job. I already have my next door neighbors on board with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield kept delaying the part and the coverage on my air conditioning unit. When you wait six weeks in Arizona in the middle of summer for them to repair something or approve a repair, it's a little bit awful. When I called AHS and told them that my stuff was broken, they said they were sorry but they weren’t doing anything. They were not processing it quick enough. My refrigerator broke this summer too and it took a long time too for them to do it. They kept sending other people out. So, I wasted a couple of hundred dollars because they came out and said it was fixed. I filled up my refrigerator and one neighbor let me put my freezer stuff in there. Then, she called the next day and her mom said it wasn't okay that they said my refrigerator was fixed. AHS should figure out the time frame in there and improve on that because people are waiting.
I was horrified with American Home Shield in how long they made me wait this year. I was thinking about renting my house out and my daughter watched us all suffer this summer and she said that I can’t go with AHS. This last time, the wrong part was sent to the air conditioning company and so, it broke again. But it didn’t take long this time. It only took a day and they covered it with no extra cost. AHS was on the job and they were very helpful. I was very grateful.

Updated on 10/04/2019: If I could I would not leave a star for a rating. They don't even deserve 1 star. Sent review in 9/2 and response was for me to call them I have tried now for 2 day and still nothing from this company. It has been 5 day since I made my 1st call for service. Nothing but run around and no management to talk to. My recommendation is to not use this company if you live in a small community.
Original Review: I have been on the phone the last 3 days with this company. Day 1 - I call in a service request - no one available for my area. Asked to call back in 4 hrs to see if someone is available or responds to the request. I call back after 4 hrs and was told I have to wait 24 hrs. Day 2 - I get a message the next morning (within 24 hrs) to call their 800# to process a outside work order. I called and talk to a service agent but was unable to understand her. She tried telling me what the guidelines are and if I don't follow them I wont get my money back from the service request. I asked that she send the guidelines for the work order. She said we can't email but can fax. I gave her my fax #. I didn't received the fax/work order guidelines so I called back and talked to another service agent. She told what the guidelines are for the work order request but I still wanted it in writing. So she said they will email the guidelines.
Day 3 - Didn't receive the information that they said they would email. So I called again. Asked to talk to a manager. I was given to Escalation Specialist (Camille) and she said give it 30 min. to go through, then she came back said to give it 24 hrs. Then she had realized it has already been 24 hrs since my request. She said she talked to someone about external emails and I was to give it 30 more min. and that she would give me a call back. 1.5 hrs later I didn't hear from her so I called again. Asked to talk to an Escalation Specialist and they told me they can't until I give them all my information. I told them no I would give my information and would only give it to the specialist when I talk to her. Suddenly lost connection. Called back. Asked to talk to a Escalation Specialist again. I was told that they can't not put me through if I don't give them my information.
I told them I have already been talking to Camille and I wanted to talk to a Specialist. Brian ** refused to put me through to a Specialist and I had to argue with him that he didn't need to verify my information and I was tired of the run around I was getting. He finally put me on hold for 20 min before transferring me to Jess **. I again asked for the guidelines to be sent to me so I have written documentation of what is needed from me. Was told they can not send me that information. I then asked where I can look it up on their web page and they don't have that available to me. They can go over what was needed over the phone. I said no I don't trust what I am being told since every time I have talked to someone I am being told something different. If I am going to pay out of pocket for a outside work order I want to see the guidelines I need to follow to get reimbursed.
If I have to pay out of my own pocket to pay the electrician when they come to my house, I want to see all what is needed from me to make sure I get Reimbursed. I asked to talk to Jess ** supervisor and she had none. I was on the phone with Jess for an 1 and still not able to put me through to a manager. But she could take my name and have someone call me within 24-48 hrs. The customer service is terrible. All I want is to see in writing what I need to do to process a Work Order Request and get my money back. I paid $$$ for this service and they tell you within 24 hrs you will have someone out at your house. It has been 3 days and I still can't get a written copy of the guidelines to follow for a work order request. Crystal **.

American Home Shield has been very difficult to deal with. We have submitted two claims and the first claim was difficult, but was finally partially completed. The second claim has now been going on for almost a month without resolution. Today, they let us know that they denied our claim and we cannot submit another claim. They say they will send someone themselves “if they can find someone in the area”. If they don’t find someone, they will go off of the first claim. From my experience calling over and over without an answer or being hung up on after they put me on hold for 30 minutes, I assume they will not find anyone and go off the 1st denied claim. I hope this helps someone but it appears they have the reviews organized so no one will see the bad ones.

Updated on 10/04/2019: Just spoke to ahs representative named Grace 1.51pm EST - call lasted 19mins. Grace checked the file & said, "We have received the motherboard 10/03/2019." She needs to speak to parts & she will call me back in a couple of hours!! Part has been received, no one informed me. No idea who the contractor is either. I work with Secretary Carson Dept of HUD - I have more chances of getting a call from the president. Now its the weekend - their contractors do not work weekends so I will out of the fridge for 3 weeks on Monday. Still not a single call from AHS since 09/14/2019. I am very disappointed & dismayed. :(
American Home Shield (AHS) and their contractor Air Boss Mechanical (Lutz).... My Samsung fridge freezer broke down on 14th Sept, reported to the warranty company, they sent contractor on 16th September. Technician said need to order couple of parts. Parts according to AHS were delivered to contractor on 21st Sept, but after daily calls to the contractor (who always goes to voicemail & NEVER returns calls or Text messages ????), I called AHS on 24th Sept for an update, they called the contractor & technician will come on 25th Sept.... Technician came 25th & left within minutes saying the parts weren’t working????
Today was is the 17th day without a fridge freezer???? I have spent many hours trying to reach out to AHS- each time a different person promising to get some action. TO DATE NOTHING. I have called & explained to AHS to change the contractor as he has the obligation to contact me with updates. AirBoss seems too busy to do my job. I was on call yesterday for an hour, again someone promised me they will take action within 24 hours!!! I am not holding my breath.
I am totally lost what to do???? I have filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Please help, it’s a nightmare running the household with no fridge freezer. I am tired of AHS scripted response. Yesterday (30th Sept) their parts department said the technician hasn’t ordered anything after his visit of 25th of September. Call made to AHS on 1st October- they said technician has now ordered the part which should have been ordered on the 25th Sept- that’s a week delay!! Now again AHS states it will take 2-3 days for the part to arrive. I am totally lost for words.

It's a shame customer service has been lost by this company. 6 days without Central Air Conditioning and they don't have a diagnosis yet. After a 56 minute phone call and being told "I cannot help you" by an operator and a supervisor I was hung up on. I would understand if I was rude or profane but to be hung up on for asking for another level of supervisor is just not appropriate. With a wife and daughter living in a house during 97 degree weather, this is a failure of customer service. We are told they have a "process" to follow but none of that includes taking care of the customer. I'm not asking for miracles, just a repair within a reasonable timeframe. Another company that forgot the reason they work. To take care of their customers. Shame on you.
