American Home Shield is good to have for emergencies, like what we just recently had and it worked out well. The technician was very good. However, we’ve had a couple of technician come in who told us, “You can’t repair this. It’s not repairable.” And there were times when they said, “Well, you know, it’s not covered.” That was a little bit of a discomfort when I went through a few things with them. I had to fight with them. I said, “No. I know it’s workable and it was working fine," and then they sent another technician. And so basically, I ended up paying for two technicians instead of one. At the end, it was resolved, but it did cost me more than it should have. They should have sent a decent technician who knew what he was doing to begin with. I didn’t have a dishwasher for three weeks and I just left it alone at that time.

I called American Home Shield about my dishwasher and I was told that their contractor would get back to me within two days. They didn’t do that so I called them, and as it turned out, the schedule was such they could send somebody the next morning. The guy fixed the dishwasher and it worked fine. The top rack though keeps sliding forward when the dishwasher is open. When you’re loading the bottom rack and putting weight in it, it slightly tips the machine just enough so the top rack comes forward. The guy said it's missing a clip and end-stops, and he would find out what they cost then I can decide whether I want to order. But he didn’t put anything in his notes and didn’t do anything about it. When I called the company, the owner of At Bay Appliance was very on-the-ball. He looked it up and said that my dishwasher model doesn’t have those.

We had an issue with a back-up and a leak, temperature control, and moisture in the house. I spoke to a fantastic representative when I called Home Shield to submit the claim and since we were about to go into the weekend, she recommended that I go ahead and give the contractor a call and not wait for them to call me, just to make sure that it was gonna be right away. So, AirMax Inc. ended up coming out within a couple of hours on the same day. Everything was fantastic and everything we’ve done with them so far has been great. Everything has been functioning better too. We’ve had a great experience with American Home Shield so far and I would absolutely recommend them to anybody.

If you have something really wrong, AHS doesn't wanna fix it such as my air conditioning. We went back and forth and it was a mess, so I just hired someone and paid $5,000 to have it done. AHS would only fix the easy stuff. If it's difficult or the kind that costs some money, they would find their way out of it and so, I’m not happy with them. The toilet was leaking and the contractor called, came out and I paid $100 for him to put a little round thing on the toilet. It took him five minutes. I said that I have another leak on my other toilet and he said that I have to call it in. So, I had another call with AHS. Even though I already paid $100, the contractor had to do $100 for each order even though that was nothing. Still, I had a good interaction with the rep when I called American Home Shield to submit a claim.
Hi Patia,
Thank you for sharing your AHS experience about the air conditioner and plumbing repairs. I would be glad to speak with you regarding the AC claim.

When I bought the house, our loan company signed us up with Home Shield for a year for free. I was gonna drop them but I didn't know they were that good. They helped us with one of our dishwashers which had problems. Then, I had my air conditioner fixed. They do quite well so I stayed with them. Two weeks ago, we started a claim for our fridge. The fridge is only four years old and we've been having problems with it for the last six months. Every month, I would unplug the fridge, take everything out, put the fridge in the garage, wait 24 hours and plug it back in. It freezes up every month.
Amann came in and said, "I think I know what it is". We unplugged the fridge and cleaned it out really well. There was a clog in the compressor. He told me to wait about seven hours or to use a blow dryer to see if it melts 'cause it froze up. I used my blow dryer and it melted the ice. I plugged it in and there was no sound. The appointment was last Friday and it's been making noise for three days straight. I blame myself though and maybe I didn't unplug it long enough. Last night, I unplugged it and let it fall for 24 hours. Hopefully, it will work.

The garbage disposal was leaking at the bottom. I've replaced it a couple of times myself and it was just easier to have a contractor come out. Aaron from Hers & His Plumbing came out, replaced the unit, matched it up perfectly, and everything was good. The only thing is the things came in threes. The AC went out. The contractor came and put in a call on that. When the AC guy was coming back, I went to open the garage door and the spring was broken so I couldn't open it. They said the track assembly was not covered and the spring was not covered under that. I thought that was a little misleading. Engineering is my background, but a track is a track, and a garage door opener typically works with a spring. You would think anything that works with the door would be covered. That's the only complaint I have but it could be me not reading through the policy and understanding exactly what it covers.

It was leaking around the base of the toilet and inside the toilet. The mechanism itself would make this high-pitched whining noise, and we could never figure out why. AHS sent a contractor from Kintex and he took the toilet up and fixed the seal. He re-flattened the area underneath. But as far as the whining sound, he went in and took a look at it and said that it was fixed, but that part hasn’t gone away.
I also had an air conditioning claim, and I couldn’t get somebody out because my AC died on a Friday, and they couldn’t get somebody out ‘til Monday, and I have my 70-year old in-laws living with us. I called up and they told me to get an external contractor. So, I get the external contractor, then they started telling me that they were not gonna cover things. Now, the external contractor who, I guess, I did okay with, but I'm not thrilled with, came out and said, “By the way, your air conditioner needs to be replaced.”
And now, American Home Shield is telling me that not only do I not have a choice but to get my new air conditioner through him and deal with this mess, but still not sure whether they're gonna pay my initial claim, which was a Freon charge, but it didn’t fix anything because it was a Band-Aid fix for the bigger problem, which is the AC needing to be replaced. I had to spend $450 on Freon and they're covering $10 a pound. And they're not even saying for sure if they're gonna cover the service call.
I got an AC to get addressed and I can't get anybody to talk to me. The AC guy blew me off. I can't get anybody in American Home Shield to authorize anything because they don’t want me to bring another technician in. I'm stuck, and I am not happy, and I will probably be cancelling American Home Shield once the air conditioner issue gets resolved because, number one, getting $10 a pound for Freon is ridiculous. It cost me $89 from the freakin’ AC guy. And then, having them say that they're not gonna cover the service call, which they took my money for the first guy and I haven’t gotten back my $100 deductible. I haven’t gotten anything back. I have some serious problems with that claim.
The AC works now because he charged the Freon, but it's not gonna last. It's going to go again. And they said it would be cheaper to replace the unit than to hunt down and patch the current one because it's not cost-effective and it's not the proper solution. So, if we can find out who I need to talk to on that, I would definitely appreciate finding out how to get that done instead of ending up in India when I call. With my overall experience, I would not recommend AHS.
Brian,

I was satisfied with American Home Shield's service. I filed an AC claim online. The online process was nice, but the thing is I always prefer to talk to someone. I filed claims with AHS multiple times before. I prefer the phone process better, but the online process is equally fine. The fan on the AC was not running, and the temperature gauge may be working fine, but it wasn’t activating the machinery to start. It wasn’t powering up when it is required. The contractor who came out was very nice.

I have two garages and both the garage door openers had failed. The contractor from American Home Shield fixed one of them with a replacement part, but he wasn't sure if he was gonna be able to replace a part on the other one or have to put in a new opener entirely. And so he went back and was doing all the checking. Two days later, tropical storm Imelda decided to settle over the house and flooded everyone in the area, so he wasn't able to get back out for another week and a half. Once he had the new garage door opener, he came right out. I was at work and he put it in and left a new remote opener for it. There wasn't any problem other than things that were out of our control.

There was a time when I had leaking issues with my kitchen sink. I submitted an online claim to AHS and found their website functional. The contractor whom they sent was very professional and polite. They rushed the service on me. Originally, we scheduled a date but things came up and we had to reschedule. The guy who was gonna work on the sink one weekend made a deal with his boss who asked if he wanted to work some extra jobs 'cause they had a schedule for that weekend. So, the contractor asked us if we were cool with the tech coming on Thursday night instead of Saturday. We got the sink fixed early and it has been fantastic since then. I wish AHS could lower their price so that they match their competitor's rate. Even so, they provide really good service so I can understand why they don't do that.

We're trying to get our watching machine and our dryers fixed, and American Home Shield recommended Superior Appliance Services of East Texas. They fixed the washing machine, but we've got no idea when the dryer is going to be fixed. We were given a tentative date of the 27th of last month and we never saw anybody, and they didn’t think of ringing and say, "Okay, we won't be out today." They also need to communicate with the depot where they get the parts from to get an idea when the part will become available. It's now been about 3 weeks and we're still out of the loop, wondering when the dryer is going to be fixed.
When the technician came out, initially, to take a look at the problem, we understood that the part would be ordered that day but, unfortunately, it wasn't until 2 days later that the part was actually ordered. So, they have to improve on their communication. They need to keep the consumer updated, especially when there are situations where parts have to be ordered. We're not being mean when we were saying, "Look. This is the situation. We need this dryer working." And they were made aware of the make of the dryer and everything like that. We're all disabled in our household and we can't really dry our laundry with no dryer. So, I'm rather dissatisfied with the service. On the other hand, AHS said they'll be working through Superior Appliance to make sure that our dryer was repaired PDQ. And I've been with AHS for over a year now.
Andy,
Thanks for letting us know how it is going so far. Your part should have arrived by end of business yesterday. I have requested that the company follow up with you to schedule your appointment. Enjoy your day.

The air conditioner was turning on and off by itself. I did a claim on the American Home Shield website and it was pretty easy to do. But it doesn't give you an option to kind of select what you need and then leave comments under that selection. It's just select the most general need. And then they said that it would take 48 hours for someone to contact me back from American Home Shield. But the actual air condition company called me back in 24 hours, and I was out of town. So they came and they had to come back out later versus coming within the 48 hours from when it said on American Home Shield.
On the second day, I was home and they were able to fix it. Everything was great with the air condition company. They were really nice and very professional. They had to put more Freon in the air conditioner. But I wasn't happy with how much American Home Shield was able to pay for per pound. The Freon was $30 or $40 per pound, but they only paid for $10 per pound.

The guy who came knew me already because he had come before to fix the appliance, except that this time, he was coming under the AHS banner. He was good. He told me exactly what was wrong with the microwave. Luckily, it turned out to be a smaller problem than we thought. He opened it up in the front panel and he had the parts for it. I have a plumbing claim that's been open for several months now. The contractor is coming out again on Thursday morning to see if they can figure out how to adjust it. But they're good at what they do and I really like them. I was also pleased this time because AHS started charging upfront. You call in a thing, pay $75, then down the road, somebody gets back to you.
There have been a couple of times when I’ve had to work through getting a piece of equipment that I wanted. Usually, I have to pay a little extra, which I don’t mind doing, but I don’t like having the replacements. It seems to be that AHS is getting a lot more replacements that they like to offer now. Also, we’re not really rural but we’re not accessible so a lot of the companies that AHS hires to do things won’t work with home insurance companies so they have to come from quite a distance. But the claim always gets resolved though sometimes I have to call a few times. All in all, we’re happy and we’ve been with AHS for a long time. Things that had been broken had been replaced. That’s why we carry AHS ‘cause we don’t like those surprises.

I smelled smoke in my laundry room, and I couldn't figure out where it was, so I shut off the dryer, opened the door, and emptied the dryer out. Then I came out and shut the power off. I called American Home Shield and they said that Pender Enterprises was going to call me. They called me that afternoon, and we made the appointment for the following Tuesday.
The gentleman came out, looked at the dryer, told me what I needed, and he said he would have to order parts and come back. So they called me back, and by Friday, he was back out here with the parts that he ordered. I had a heating element that had caught on fire, and the lint was in the bottom of the dryer and all over the dryer. He cleaned out the dryer for me. He took it all out, put it all back together, and my dryer's acting like it's brand-new. He saved my house from burning down. Pender Enterprises is awesome.
We've owned our home since 2015, and we've had American Home Shield since then. They helped us. They sent somebody out for my heating unit because my AC quit summer of '17, and I thought I was gonna die because it's hot in Georgia. And they found out we had a fire in the attic. The guy that they sent out was Bailey. They saved the house from burning down. They replaced that part up in the attic. When my microwave door broke, American Home Shield gave me a new microwave. Well worth the money for me. I've almost had two fires in this house and they have saved me from it. I'm very satisfied. I have recommended them to people.

It was more than a week. But the minute the part came in, they scheduled me with him right away. My fridge is doing really good.
I usually do my claims over the phone. The AHS reps have always been very nice and professional. Aside from them raising the price on me for the 79, I'm fine. One thing I like about American Home Shield is the tracking system. I can tell when the repairman is coming, and I don't have to wait. They're pretty good about keeping to the time they said. And I love the fact that they send me the picture of the repairman who is gonna come. I can track how far down the street he is.

I called in a service call for a leaking toilet and American Home Shield sent the company out there called Shields Plumbing. Shields Plumbing came out and the guy didn’t even look at the toilet first. He just said what was damaged but with the plan that we got, they could go ahead and fix them but we would have to pay an amount. I told them to hold up because they didn't even take the time to see it, but he insisted that American Home Shield was not gonna pay for it. He said he was going to call his supervisor back to his place and I asked him to give me a copy of the write up of everything that was wrong. Then I never heard anything back from them.
A day later, American Home Shield called me back and the lady said that they could send another company out. I asked her why I needed to have another company out if they were gonna charge me another fee to do the exact same thing. If that was going to be the case, I might as well go and cancel my American Home Shield. So, we sat down and talked, and she said that they would send another company out to evaluate it and see if it would be repaired or replaced.
They sent Wichita Mechanical out. The toilet developed a whole big hairline crack on the side of the tank and the water was just seeping through. The top part wasn’t broken, but the guy looked at it and everything else on the inside was starting to brittle up and break down like there were some little stones in there. All of it was dry rot and deteriorating. So, they came to the conclusion that they were just gonna replace it. Overall, it was very surprising ‘cause I never figured that American Home Shield would actually listen to the customer and help the customer out compared to just taking all of the words from the initial contractor that evaluated the situation.

I got American Home Shield on the house for three years. My parents had them too and they like them. It was fairly affordable. I've only had to make two claims and they both worked out pretty well. I had a major plumbing issue that they didn't cover, but that was a larger issue altogether between my homeowners' insurance company and them. I have tree roots in my pipes and that was not covered. With regards to the Busy Bee Appliance contractor, it was fantastic. He was there on time. I wind up getting a new washing machine 'cause he said I needed a new washing machine because my old washing was gonna be a bunch of rebuild. But he fixed it enough to where I could use it until we got the new one. This claim was fast.

I requested for service online and the process was okay, but I had an issue with the scheduling times. I’m a teacher, so I can’t get home till after 3 o’clock and the times on there were from 8:00 till noon, 1:00 to 5:00, and then another one that was during the day. None of those times work for me, so that’s what I filled out and then the next thing I knew, I got scheduled for a day that definitely didn't work for me. I got an email saying that the contractor is gonna come at 8 o’clock on a Monday, but I talked to their rep and he told me that it could be scheduled whenever I wanted it scheduled. A tech came and he was very professional. He fixed the problem and asked if there was anything else he could help with. He answered a few silly questions I had, and then he left.

The tool that the contractor used was not sufficient for a regular job to get it done. They came out three times and the person came out two days past and my sewage line got clogged up. They came and cleaned it out, and then two days after that, it got clogged up again. Two days again, they came out the third time with the same issue. So, all three times, they used the same tool and they didn’t get the job done. It’s mainly a retriever, not an unclogger. I was gonna call the fourth time, but that was too much. By the time American Home Shield was trying to get Boss Plumbing to come out, Boss Plumbing was telling them that they needed to put a camera in my sewage line to see what the problem was, and it was gonna have to be provided by me. They were trying to get me to pay out of pocket for a camera that I didn’t need.
AHS couldn’t get the final answer from Boss Plumbing, which delayed them in coming to my house and it eventually led to sewage being in my property on my patio and my front yard. So, I wasn’t too happy. I contacted AHS every day but they kept passing me over to somebody else. They kept trying to tell me that they were gonna call Boss Plumbing to verify the details, and then to stay on the line, and their phone connection would get cut off every time. I would even tell them that if they put me on hold, I already knew that they were gonna hang up on me and it was gonna be over.
I had to do what I had to do to get the sewage out of my yard because I had feces in my front yard and I was not gonna put up with that. I got kids and neighbors, and I didn’t want them to see that. So, I got a different company and I had to pay out of my own pocket. They came out, and I told them what the other company did. They told me that the C-cutter was supposed to be used, which was the standard for this basic job. They did it in one swoop, cleaned it out, and my sewage line has been clean ever since, which was two weeks ago.
I’ve been with American Home Shield for about a year and for the most part, I was a happy customer with them. I’ve had issues with my AC unit, and it was fixed. They did a good job. But the customer service of AHS is not well-equipped. You can tell that they hire out. There’s always someone on the line whose English is not their first language. Also, they don’t have supervisors on hand to answer any questions. They always refer you to somebody else but never a supervisor.

The system just tells the unit, the error and where the problem is located but it doesn't give me a place to type in information. I see the way the rep moved the numbers around. AHS was supposed to give a $1,500 discount, but it didn’t even really matter because he can move the numbers wherever he wants. I just wish I could have another option as well for somebody to look at my stuff. But overall, I’m pretty satisfied. It seems to work out okay for me. I had someone come out from the gas company. They had done work next door, and they turned off my gas for an hour and then put it back on. And the water heater wasn’t lit. I didn't wanna mess with anything, so I had someone come out from the gas company. And they said it was leaking all over, horrible things could happen and to turn it off immediately and call somebody. So, I did and filed a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor said that I got to replace it, it's nine years old. I had to muscle the guy to come out because I got four women in here with me, and they wanted me to wait four days. But they came and replaced it. It was two young and nice guys, and they fixed it. But I paid $545 out of pocket. A nice guy from customer service explained to me this fee.
I’m a retired policeman and federal agent. For 50 years, I was in law enforcement, so I know how a lot of these things work. And the reasoning for the $545 was one was the permit. We needed a hundred and a quarter for a permit. And then it was the hookup. It was a new hookup now with the permits. They changed things and I had to hook this up coming outta the roof. When they went to hook it up coming out of the roof, they didn’t do anything about it actually coming outta the roof. He said he had to tear everything out. But the guys were good and I got a water heater in there. I had them give me a bill and all that with everything written out. But they put all these little things on. That’s how they make their money. And so, that’s life and that’s how it works.
Before I had used American Home Shield, I had somebody come out for my plumbing. I had three things wrong with my plumbing, little things. As soon as the movers put the washing machine in and they turned it on, water was flying all over outta the thing. He said the connection was no good. The one coming out the the wall, it looked like a regular hose connection from outside like that we all know about, the little nozzle. So I said ok. And then the garbage disposal, something got stuck in there. Then I had a leaky faucet in my shower that was dripping. The plumber I called out said it was 356 for this, 388, 333. And so, I figured the way that it worked, with a plumber coming out each time, unless it’s a big job, it has to be 300 and something. They have to come to it. And the fact that I had three of them here, this guy said he would just put them all together and make it 1,000. That was crazy.
Then I remembered I had American Home Shield. I forgot 'cause I just bought the house. I called them and at that time, it was $75. A guy came out and I gave him an extra 20 for lunch. He looked at the washing machine and said the hose wasn't put on right. He took it off and put it back on and turned it on, and it was fine. It took him literally 10 seconds. Then he went under the sink, and he said, “Here, you see this little tool. You turn this, and it takes the teeth in there and it opens it up. And if anything that’s in there drops out, you tighten it back up.” I said, “Oh, my god. I’m an idiot. I can do that.” I said, “Where can I get one of those tools?” He said, “Here.” He went in the bathroom and he did his little magic in there. That took him five minutes. This guy was in my house in 10 minutes tops, and he only charged me all for the one thing. I can't tell how good American Home Shield did and how good the guy who came here was.
And I didn’t even have the money on me. I said let me run to the ATM and gotta buy him lunch at least. He was reluctant. I made him stay and I gave him the $20. You gotta pay them before they do any work but I wasn’t getting any money till Monday. My pension came in on a Monday. I asked if they could hold the check for a couple of days. He said yes. As it turned out, my pension check came early, so I gave him the money right away. But American Home Shield was willing to work with me.

I had some damage that I thought might be due to a leak. But the plumber said he would have to cut a hole in the wall. The damage is inside, but there's nothing in there that would cause the damage. So, it might be coming from the outside and could've been from my sprinkler system he said. However, he didn't know anything without cutting out a whole in the wall and said I have 30 days to make a decision. At that time, I couldn't do it, so it wasn't resolved.
But overall, I've been very happy with the contractors. The only thing is that American Home Shield seemed to change contractors a lot, like every couple of years. So, if there's one I really like then the next time, I might not see them. They've done that with plumbers and a pool company that I have used a few times. I'm quite happy with the one that they've got now, but I really like the one that they had before. Nevertheless, despite all the changes over the years, I'm quite happy with AHS. Our microwave wasn't working and when we would turn it on, it would trip the breaker. And it was the only appliance on that breaker. First, we called an electrician through American Home Shield. He came out and looked at it. He was able to replace the breaker and said that it wasn’t like the breaker was overloaded. It wasn’t an electrical issue. He said it was definitely the appliance. So that led us to file another claim for the appliance and that was when GE came out.
It was all online when I submitted the claim and that was very easy. I was able to schedule the technician online, which I really liked, and he called me about an hour before his time window. He also asked a few questions about the microwave – what it was doing so he could have an idea of what he would come in to and what he would need to bring with him – and I liked that. The fact that he called and came prepared was super convenient for us because when you buy a house, repair need to be made and it’s really hard for us to take time off of work and be home for this to happen during business hours. I really appreciated it. Then when he got there, he was able to tinker with the microwave. He replaced a part or maybe more than one, and it was working at the end. He was in and out very quickly too.

I had another service request before that where my garage door opener had broken, and I didn't understand that it was covered by American Home Shield. I realized it when I was re-upping my account because we'll be ending in October. Parts had fallen and shattered on the ground so I swept up the garage and put it away and then, when the techs came out, they saw half a part that was missing that had fallen to the ground, so they wouldn't cover the policy. My claim with American Home Shield went really well. It was super simple. I went online, paid and it was like, "Oh, okay, cool. Done." The only thing that I thought was confusing for me was I didn't know if I was supposed to call the contractor or he was gonna call me, so I did call him. But I'm really happy. That was being the first time I had to use our warranty, and I'm super thankful for it. The gentleman came out within 48 hours, identified the problem, corrected it and they were done. It was unusually easy. It was very, very nice for him to come in and just say, "Oh yeah, I see what the problem is." He was thoughtful. He pulled up the toilet, took care of it and cleaned the area. I love that he brought a bucket and took the yucky stuff with him. He was awesome. That was a legit plumbing call.
And I was hesitant because when you have an issue, you always fear that someone's gonna come in and tell you something worse or it's gonna be a bit of fiasco, but he was very straightforward. He seemed very honest and very professional. And being that it's warranty work, sometimes I'm hesitant too because you'll never know if you're gonna get great service or they're like, "I'm contractor for your warranty," and sometimes you feel like even though you should be treated just as equally as good, I don't know why some people do business for warranty companies because they seem like they hate it. I've had that experience in the past, but this guy was awesome. Even if I didn't have a warranty I would call this guy back.

A week ago, my washing machine broke so I filed a request for service. I got an appointment scheduled and then I looked up the company that American Home Shield had assigned me to, and they had horrible ratings all over the internet. So, I called them and said that I would like a different company. But they said that it was a good company and that they trusted them. So, I let it go at that.
An appointment was set for Tuesday afternoon but the contractor never showed up and never called. Then another appointment was set for Wednesday afternoon, never showed and then I got an email saying that it had been scheduled for the next day. So I basically told AHS that I didn't wanna deal with these people and asked to find me someone else. AHS found me someone else who was supposed to be here Saturday but no-showed as well. I assumed they would call me on Monday to reschedule, but haven’t heard anything from them.
I've been with American Home Shield for about a year. I submit claims online and everything that they’ve done for me has been great. They really have been on the money, on time, done a great job, sent the right people, and always been perfect. But I’d like to see them follow up themselves and see if the people that they’ve sent have done the job or come in and showed up because it’s really frustrating.
Good afternoon John,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

Our water heater has some problem. It would be dry in one or two days and then there would be water on the bottom floor. I thought it was leaking, but the plumber said it was not so it's not a water heater problem. It's just that hot water sometimes overflows through the pipe. This is the third time he has come back. AHS also sent another plumber who said the same thing. I have to just wait and see what's going on 'cause they're the expert but it's not a pleasure to see the water on the floor.
There were many areas that AHS didn't cover for me. This guy from Anguelov International fixed some drain pipe but I paid $470 to him. He said American Home Shield would not cover it. I'd wanna try to get some compensation from American Home Shield. They should cover for the work on that furnace drain pipe. Other than that, the guy is very nice and really good. He also fixed the toilet for us a couple of months ago.

I've been with American Home Shield since December of last year. My husband sees filing online a lot easier so that's how he normally does it. The technicians from Anytime Home Services that came out were great. They gave me a big time window which I was scared about, but they came towards the earlier of the time, and they called within 15 minutes saying they'd be here in half an hour. They were very cool and gentlemen. They told me the problem and they were in and out a couple of times to get some supplies. Once they were done, they tested it and showed me that there were no more leaks and they left.

My basement was flooded and I didn’t know if it was coming from the water heater or from the sump pump. It shut down the whole home and we couldn't use our basement. I called AHS and the rep I talked to was great. They put in an emergency or expedited the service since the basement was flooded. The contractor from Parker Plumbing came out the same day. They got the problem fixed and cleaned up after themselves. They got up as much of the water as they could. They were very professional.
I've noticed though that since my contract has changed, we have come out of pocket a whole lot more than we had to come out with it first. Not only that, our price has increased. But normally, if I had an issue, they get the people out to get it fixed. Still, my overall experience with AHS has been great. I would recommend them.

The technician from Honest Appliance was very friendly and very courteous. The first time he came out, the washer was making a loud noise and the water wouldn’t dispense. So whenever it starts, it makes a clicking sound. On the second call, it was doing the same, but the technician cleared the error code. This time, he couldn’t clear it and he had to replace a part. He said the hose was bad. So far, so good. I would recommend American Home Shield to a friend.

The signal on my dryer turned on, but it wouldn't actually turn on. A technician from AA Dependable Appliance Service came out and said that there weere parts was were bad. He needed to come back after ordering the parts which took almost two weeks and replace them. In the meantime, he also suggested for me to have the vents cleaned out. But I'm a little disappointed that AA Dependable wouldn't do the vent cleaning part when they came out. They used to do it, but they don't do it anymore. Also, the tech said American Home Shield wouldn't pay for it. So I called a separate company and paid a separate fee. They came out and said that it wasn't actually clogged, but I still had to pay. Then the little vent covering outside was taken out and was supposed to be replaced, but they never did. So now, I'm worried about bugs getting into the vent hole.
My dryer claim went well. AA Dependable had come out for my dishwasher before and they were good with that as well. But I had other very bad experiences with American Home Shield which happened before my dryer claim. The company they sent out for the AC came two days after the leak started, which was crazy for an air condition because the ceiling kept getting worse. When he left, I asked him if we should mop up and put towels down around the secondary pan just in case it would leak again. He said that it was dry now and that we didn't need to do that.
The technician also said that I might have a leak in the secondary pan, so I got a little worried. I asked him what would happen if it would leak again and he said that he cleaned out the line and it was not leaking anymore. So I believed him. Then I thought it was interesting that he didn't ask me to leave the air condition off. I went to work and came home 10 hours later, and water was dripping from my ceiling and it damaged my carpet, hardwood floor, the drywall and the ceiling. American Home Shield said that they don't pay for the damages from the leak. So it hasn't been repaired.
Another whole story, AHS sent out a different company who wanted to replace the air handler. The tech told me that everything needed to be replaced. I called one of my neighbors who was also an air conditioning guy and his guy came over and said that we didn't need to replace it. American Home Shield said that they would only give me $1,500 for a $7,500 new unit or they would just replace the air handler, but they wouldn't pay for the ductwork and the Freon that had to go with the new air handler. So I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
The air condition is working and it's not leaking anymore and so I don't feel like I need to replace it right this minute. But I haven't gotten the repairs done yet because it's expensive and I have to pay for it out of pocket and I don't wanna get the ceiling repaired and then have it leak again. American Home Shield say that they are going to provide all these services but when it's actually done, they only provide a part of it and then you end up having to pay a lot out of pocket, so that's frustrating. I would not recommend American Home Shield.

Original Review: Oct. 9, 2019
Updated on 10/17/2019: I just wanted to write a little update to my situation with American Home Shield. I was contacted via email shortly after posting my review for a possible resolution. I responded to advise that my issue still hadn't been resolved after 4 visits and no call back from AHS or the AC company. Monday afternoon I was contacted by an AHS representative. At that point I was offered A. To let the original company come out in an attempt to resolve issue, to which I said no thank you, four tries is quite sufficient. B. They would send a different vendor to assess the situation, or C. I could find a company myself and send in an invoice for reimbursement based on what was needed.
I chose to have a new company come out. This second company immediately recognized mistakes made by the other company. He informed me that the previous company had placed a second dryer line near the compressor/condenser and it was not a two way dryer and as a result of this part being a one way dryer (pointed the wrong way) it blew out the valve stem causing refrigerant to escape after the previous company stated that the correct amount of refrigerant was placed.
To add insult to injury the technician pointed out that the dryline was placed with plumbing solder. At this point the technician attempted to replace the valve stem releasing a decent amount refrigerant. I was in told he could remove this I can't line and that I would need 10 pounds of refrigerant costing $95 per pound. I was informed that American home shield only covers $10 per pound and I would be responsible for the remaining $850.
I called American home shield this morning as I believe this is very unfair that this cost should fall to me due to the previous company's error. I was again informed by the representative on the phone that American home shield only covers $10 per pound, I verbalize that I understood how much American home shield covers however this was not my fault and would like to speak with somebody and customer service to recover my losses. This cost should be incurred by the previous company due to their errors, and a reimbursement made to me. I have emailed the person who contacted me And have received no response. At this point I have had to spend money on 2 service calls at $75 a piece and $850 in refrigerant which is well more than the policy cost. At this point I am feeling extremely ripped off and disappointed.
Original Review: Well, I am currently on hold for 20 minutes and counting after calling 3 different times in the last 2 days. I have had the same company out to service my AC because they have not been able to properly fix the problem. I am currently waiting on the 5th visit as they "needed parts", which has been the case. Oh and I just got hung up on after listening to hold music for 20 minutes, yet another wonderful experience with AHS. I digress, I have expressed how unhappy I am with this company and I was offered for AHS to contact the vendor on behalf for resolution options. The company said they would send out a master technician, twice they have sent the "master technician" the second being yesterday in which they sent 2 technicians, one was on their 1st day with that company and the second thought it a great idea to offer his personal phone number to my wife because he does "side jobs", still not sure which of the two was the master technician.
Update on phone situation I am on hold after calling back to speak with vendor relations or a supervisor after the call center rep who I can barely understand due to a heavy Filipino accent as has been the case for all calls I've placed to AHS. Long story short going on 5 service calls and after expressing my discontent to AHS was told Id have to pay $75 if I want another company sent out. Well, if the caliber of company that has been sent out thus far is representative of who they will send again, I am completely at a loss for words and without AC.
I apologize for the way we have handled your ongoing a/c issue Mark. My name is Stacy and I will be contacting you via email in an effort to assist with a resolution.

When it was determined that my dishwasher was beyond repair...AHS offered to replace it with a lower end model that was not comparable by consumer standards. With the annual cost of an AHS contract, the multiple $75 service fees I had to pay for the same issue added to the cost difference to replace the dishwasher with a “like” model (same quality and features that they considered an “upgrade”)… well… would have been much cheaper to buy a new appliance outright.
Once you are at the point that they are going to have to pay to replace an item, be prepared for the Customer Service Representative to argue, deflect and refuse to assist. Your only choice is to accept a cash offer that will not cover purchase and installation, select an inferior model and hope that they have it in stock or pay several hundred dollars to “upgrade” to a model that compares to your own. Just trying to figure out what models are in stock vs. out of stock is a lengthy and frustrating process.
I certainly hate to hear that we did not provide the expected service & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your feedback as we hope to improve processes for a better customer experience. Have a great week.

My wife and I bought a new home this year and have it covered by AHS. We were relieved to have AHS coverage because our HVAC system was already 26 years old and looked incredibly rusted and unreliable. On Thursday, 10/3 we asked AHS to send a technician to evaluate our system because it was barely blowing cold air. The technician's report showed that technically the unit could be repaired. At the time, I was disappointed, but not too upset because I assumed AHS would cover the full cost of repair. I was told AHS would contact me to schedule the repair. That night, the HVAC system completely stopped working and we woke up to a very warm house in the middle of the night. I called AHS at 4:00 am (because why not? I couldn't sleep!). They said they hadn't received the technician's report and couldn't help me, but they'd follow up ASAP on Friday morning (10/4).
By 2:00pm I hadn't heard from them, so I called AHS. They told me my unit needed a repair that cost over $2,500 total and that AHS would only cover $1,360. Included within the portion they won't cover is an absurd policy with R-22 freon. R-22 refrigerant has been banned by the EPA and will no longer be imported in 3 months, so the price is relatively expensive -- anywhere from $80-$150/lb. AHS will only pay $10/lb of R-22 refrigerant. That alone was quite frustrating. Both that they covered such a small amount, but also that their best solution is to pump in old, banned gas into an already 26 year old system. I decided to investigate the cost of a brand new unit since mine was already 26 (TWENTY SIX!!) years old. I got a quote for $5,680 from the same company who came out originally. I shared that with AHS and they absolutely refused to cover more than the cost of a repair, of which they'll only cover less than half.
Then, I dug deeper and found the most infuriating evidence of a nefarious money-hungry corporation: AHS's own website has marketing material that tries to recruit new customers that says "An air conditioner typically lasts 10-15 years. Clearly, the older a unit is, the more likely it is to have performance issues and need repairs." I called AHS and called out this inconsistency, but they simply tried to force me to accept their cash out option of $1,140 so I could fix it (not replace it). I spoke with the technician who diagnosed the repair and he plainly told me he would never repair a unit that old in his own home, but that his opinion didn't matter because AHS would never offer to replace the unit. He said he's seen AHS repair 31 year old units all the time.
So, AHS convinces new customers to pay hundreds of dollars in annual premiums when their unit is 10-15 years old. Then, when a unit is 11 years beyond the high end of their range, they still refuse to replace the unit. This is completely misleading and dishonest. If you haven't guessed yet, I plan to never use AHS again for a home warranty and highly recommend avoiding them for your HVAC system.
I can understand your frustration in regards to your a/c system Bobby. I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you in an as I would like to speak with you more about your claim.

I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

I try calling AHS every day, and every time they say, "Give us a day," but nothing happens. It is PTAC unit. AHS provided me phone number of one company and when I called them, they said they don't provide service for PTAC. Then I called back again AHS and they provided another contractor with a note to wait for 24 to 48 hours. Again waited for several days and nothing. Now I am calling AHS again - same thing ... We have had issues with our air conditioner that is over 13 years old and continues to require repair. If it can be repaired, even a band aid to the next repair, AHS will require it to be done at the cost of the consumer. This is not good for the environment and we have to pay top dollar for the Freon that continues to leak out. The companies that they have contracted with do not even do their job to check out the system to fully understand what is the problem which requires them to come back time after time. Then they try to sell you a new unit because they know it is going to be a problem again and again that AHS will not replace until it is 100% unrepairable. I am not trying to get anything out of the warranty other than what I have paid for over the last 5 years. There has been a lot of out of pocket costs and inconvenience to repair.

I was told the coverage type I had was not competitive anymore, huh? And, If I wanted to ensure my items would be covered in the future I would need to upgrade my coverage type now plus pay more money.. But, what about my a/c unit?? Yeah it would still be denied because it would be considered pre existing.
My advice to any homeowner looking for a reputable home warranty company to hold true to their word, Dont bother! Instead, put your money that you would typically spend on any major home repair or replacement in a saving account. That way, you dont have to experience double the loss unlike me, I had too and pay 15 + years for service (which I used maybe once) and when I finally needed to use American home shield they said sorry, oh well! Amen Air Conditioning didn’t know where to look. We're in a computerized era, but they’re not that high-tech. AHS has to scratch them off the list. I closed on this house March 28th. The 28th of September would've made it six months. I have called American Home Shield three times. I already had plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues. I got the home inspected two times. The issues may be minor to the inspectors, but they were really major to me, being a first time homebuyer, so those problems should have been caught. But it's neither here nor there. It's a 200 thousand investment. I have signed my life away to the house and I am stuck with it, so I just gotta make it through.
I had an electrical problem at the back of my home. My sockets weren't working and the light fixtures on the back side of the bathroom weren't coming on. I got my own electrical guy to come out here and he plugged up whatever he plugged into the socket to see the wiring. He even pushed the button that's on the socket in my bathroom and in my daughter's bathroom, and it still didn't work. So, by the time Wester Electrical came out here and just pushed the button, everything came on.
I haven't had any problems with it yet, but I even called AHS and said, "Hey, I paid $75 and the company came out here, they pushed a button and everything came on." The rep said, "That's the thing. Sometimes it's working and sometimes it's not." But I couldn't explain that to the people that were here because once they pushed the button, the light came on. I feel I just have to end up calling back if it goes out again because I still believe there's a shortage of some kind. The back of my house is like an add-on. My daughter was blow-drying her hair in her bathroom, and the contractor said the GIL surged or something in my bathroom, which to me was confusing because even when we pushed the GIL button in my daughter's bathroom, her lights came on. It's weird how it's wired.

I’m having a follow-up today on my air conditioning unit. I have an overflow set up like a safety precaution. If the air conditioner is running and water builds up too much, it has an overflow where it would shut it down. So, it’s a possibility, there may have had a blockage in the line. The contractor told me it wouldn’t be any problem to call and I had this experience last night where it overflowed again. So, they’re coming out this afternoon. My parents referred Home Shield to me so I went with them and I've been with them for a couple of years. I submit claims on the phone and I was a little irritated last time I had to put a claim in. My dryer wasn’t working and I had to wait on the phone 45 minutes to get somebody to take my claim. It was way too long. And I can’t be in front of a computer. They say I can go online and do it but I don’t have time. I’m with three kids, running errands and going to doctor’s appointments. For me, I put my Bluetooth in and I do things on the phone. So, I was a little upset with the service from American Home Shield where I had to wait 45 minutes, but I haven't had that issue ever since that one time.
I had an amazing experience with my claim for the stove. The guy was very skilled. He tried to fix it at first and he gave 110% of his effort. He was here for a couple of hours taking apart the stove and trying to fix the part. He didn't just come and say, “You need a new part,” or “You need a new stove.” He tried to fix it so I wouldn’t be without and then when he couldn't, he went ahead and ordered the part. He was very polite, very professional, and very courteous. Also, his office kept in touch with me the whole time. They let me know they ordered the part and that it was gonna be a little bit, but that as soon as they get it, they would send it on my way. It was no more than a day or two, they called me back and said they had the part and asked if it was okay if they come install it that day. It was right away.
Stephanie,
I am happy that you only had that experience that onetime. We are working to ensure that does not happen again. Although we hope there are no issues with anything in the home in the future, we are here to service you anytime you need us. Thanks for continuing your business with us. Take care!

Reliable Appliance Repair came out to fix the garbage disposal clam that I filed to AHS. The contractor came out the next day but by the time they came, the disposal started working. He didn't do anything. He just said that it was something that we did. My son was able to use the screw they used to put under the garbage disposal and turn it around. Everything is working now. Aside from that, I was very, very, very happy with the guy with the dryer. If I have any issue with the dryer or washing machine, I don't want AHS to send out Pro Appliance because they didn't do anything. It was the second guy that found out the problem. He said something was broken and he put a new part, and it's working fine now. The lady I spoke with last was very nice and she really did what she was supposed to do, and expedited the work order.

We kept having to have Sears out to work on the washer and dryer. We kept having to have the AC man out to work on the AC. And things were acting crazy. I used plug-ins on the north end of the house. I stuff in and it burned it up. When the AC guy came from Cub Heating & Cooling, he told me that it was electrical. So that made me call American Home Shield and call for an electrician. American Home Shield called an electrician that was over two hours north of me first, and they declined to come down here. And then they called Pro Service and they were fast. They are in the same town, and 12 minutes from my door.
When the electric guy got here, he opened that cabinet and pulled that big, gray box off, and you have all these breakers down and you could see the breakers that were sticking out. It happened to be the breakers that went to my washer, my dryer, my AC, and those things are all on the north end of the house. He showed me where you couldn’t get them in to stay in. He showed me what the issue was, and so then, looked even further and it had an old Federal box in it. They’re actually a fire hazard and I did not know that. The tech was professional. He got out, got it done, got it taken care of, and I’m not having any more issues.
We started the claim with American Home Shield the 28th of August, and Sears come out three different times. They finally sent somebody else out here, but it was after the electrician was here. The man worked on my washer and my dryer without even having to get parts. Now, he’s ordering agits for my washer because it wasn’t washing well, but without getting extra parts because Sears said that the motor was seized and the dryer belt was over the idler. But when this other man came out here, my motor was not seized up. My washer and dryer are 18 years old, and after he cleaned it and done everything, he said that these are really good washers and dryers. He added that they haven’t worked like these in years. They’re running wonderful, which I’m glad.
I got terrible service from Sears. They didn’t know what the heck they were talking about. But American Home Shield got on the ball and they got Pro Service out here. Having Pro Service out and the guy knowing what was going on and getting it fixed in a week, that was the service that I’ve had with American Home Shield over the years.
I've been with American Home Shield for 15 years. But I was really frustrated and really thinking about leaving them because we’ve been doing this for over a month. At any rate, it was frustrating because I’ve been going to the laundromat for a solid month. It was really expensive. It was $40 every time I go. I had the one woman I called and spent hours on the phone with American Home Shield, trying to figure out what the heck was going on.
We had a plumbing issue last week and I called for a plumber. I had a faucet that was leaking after the man came and worked on the washer because those never get turned off back there. So I called American Home Shield and they called PK Plumbing, which was two hours away and they declined it. American Home Shield dropped the ball when they cancelled and didn’t even send me anybody out or call me. My husband came home and fixed it. American Home Shield said that they a refund for the fee. I have a confirmation number. But when I checked my bank on Friday, it wasn’t there. I’m calling tomorrow to make sure my 75 bucks is back in there.
When I try to call American Home Shield, they send me to a foreign country and they can’t hardly understand me. I didn’t have this years ago. And they even sent me to somebody that speaks Mexican and I told them that I speak English. And the rep goes, “I don’t know why they sent you here.” I’m unhappy with American Home Shield on the plumber issue and the washer issue when they keep sending Sears out and these guys aren’t doing their job. That’s costing American Home Shield more money, which, in turn, costs me more money because they’re wasting their money and their time and my time. I missed three days of work over that because the people at Sears want you here from 8:00 to 5:00 and can’t tell you exactly when they’re coming.

I filed my AC claim to American Home Shield online and it went through really well and easy enough. I called that in on a Saturday. Someone called me on a Sunday to schedule an appointment on Monday. The contractor from Myers Comfort came in. He was very knowledgeable. He identified the problem almost immediately, and he had to look on the availability of a part, then he came back, took the parts out, took them off somewhere for a couple of hours, brought them back and reinstalled. They did very well. The AC works fine now.

And so, we went with American Home Shield, and they've been great so far. It was cheaper than the other plan. I've been very happy with American Home Shield. We called in a claim with them and Myers did a good job when they were there. It was a blown capacitor and he replaced the capacitor. It fired right back up and everything worked fine. My air conditioner wasn’t working. I called Home Shield on a Friday and First Choice AC Company didn’t come in until Monday. That was the most available schedule. I asked them that there has to be somebody out there that could come over that day, this was when it was really hot, but the guy said, "No" and to me, that was not good customer service. Also, I called because of the plumbing and the same thing happened. I had a leak that same Friday on my shower and they couldn't get a plumber out here so I had to turn off the water. The issues happened at the same time and it was the weekend. I said I had to shut off the water from the shower and then I didn't have AC. It’s over 100 degrees here.
To me, that’s not good. I've been a member for so long. They take it out of my account and that’s unsatisfactory for me. That was an emergency and they needed to have somebody 24 hours on call regardless. But with the overall work, the contractors did a good job and the AC is working good. I asked them to check my ductwork and the tech went up there and he said they needed to be rewrapped. But he said he doesn't think American Home Shield would cover it because it looked like I've had a little pest up there but that I could call. He should know, so I didn’t bother to call and I had to get my own contractor come out here and rewrap all the ducting up there.
With the plumbing, the contractors came in and it went good. The only thing about that one was that they were coming from out of town. The guy called me and said that he was behind schedule. He was supposed to be here at 11:00 and he didn’t come out here until a little after 1:00. He said he had an emergency out there. So there I was without water but I didn’t have a choice because I already paid my service fee. But he came out here and overall, he was very nice. It was a major job and he didn’t leave until about four or five hours later. The faucets from inside the shower were all damaged and he replaced all of those.

I called in a claim to AHS when we couldn’t get the water heater started. The contractor just held the button and it lit. He was great. It was just our own ignorance not knowing how to start the water heater but it’s about 15 years old and we’re kinda waiting until it blows.

Royal Flush AC was the best. American Home Shield sent them for our AC. It wasn't blowing probably because it's an older house. It's my parents' house. I have American Home Shield for myself. I also have it for my mom and dad. Another company came out first which is Airtronics. I don't think AHS should use them because they came out first, and it was almost two weeks, and I had heard nothing back from them nor AHS. I called AHS, and they were okay. Airtronics was supposed to get back with us with their finding and let us know, and they hadn't gotten back with AHS.
Then they spoke with them and then they were supposed to get back with them to get something approved, and it took almost two weeks. I called again. It's like nobody's willing to give it up. So, the third time, I told American Home Shield, "Look, I'm not going for you waiting on them to get back with you. It's been almost two weeks. These are my elderly parents. You know what I mean? And it gets up to 100 degrees here in Houston. So, it's probably even hotter in their home. And I had to go buy fans and everything up, and so please do not tell me that." That means somebody is not following up. Somebody should have been following up with them to call. So, on the last call I made, a young lady answered the phone. She looked at the file and she said I was right and that she was going to request that someone else would come out, and that was when Royal Flush came out.
On the day Royal Flush was supposed to come out, American Home Shield called me saying Airtronics got back with them. And this is the part that I did not like. The lady that called me from AHS didn't know that the other lady had already requested someone else to come out. And I didn't say any different because I was trying to get some resolution to my mom and dad. She said, "We'll you don't have to contact us. You can contact Airtronics directly and try to work something out with them." I told her I would because I knew a new company was already coming out, so I didn't say anything. Royal Flush came out and resolved the problem that day, and everything was paid for.
The contractor told me about some things that need to be upgraded because it's an older house, but nothing more had to be done that day, and everything was covered. My parents weren't changing the filter correctly when they should be. And everything that was floating around was clogging it up. The contractor was able to unclog it, and he said the draining pan wasn't draining properly. He unclogged that. He told me to make sure they get new air filters and they'll be changed out every 60 days. Some people say 90, but he requires it 60 days. He did a wonderful job and was very informative to let me know what needs to be done.
There were some things that needed to be upgraded and he said, "But if I was you, I would try to have them get a whole new system because next year or a year after this, they change it up, the AC refrigerant." So, he really was very knowledgeable. He let me know what needs to be done and he took care of it. I tried to call back to American Home Shield, but I never could get customer service online to let them know about Airtronics.
I recommend American Home Shield regardless that someone didn't stay on top of Airtronics. I just feel like Airtronics knew the procedure, and they should have gotten back with American Home Shield in a timely manner, so I don't really fault American Home Shield for that. I really recommend them to people that I know that got elderly family members because they're on a fixed income. So, I love American Home Shield.

Submitting a claim online with Home Shield was straightforward and very effective. But when I submitted my claim online, there was a charge right away and they assigned it to somebody. Other than that, it went great. Home Shield assigned Felix Appliance Repair and I was very comfortable with them. I was a little bit nervous because it's not a bigger name company and I've had some bad experiences with the smaller type of organizations. But the guys at Felix were very professional and very thorough. They fixed the issue.
Felix actually addressed the issue on two separate instances. I requested them to come back a second time because I had a good experience. They already evaluated the situation before and they were familiar with the diagnosis so I wanted them there. So when I submitted the claim online, it right way went to somebody else. So I called in, and Home Shield was able to adjust it. It was a phone call that took me half hour to work through because they had to get it signed in and cancel one order, and resubmit the other order. Overall, Home Shield has been good so far.

AHS' price has gone up quite a bit. It was almost $800, $900 but now it has gone up to about $1200. I've dropped my warranty on one of my homes. Also, their system is limited online. I can't describe a lot of things. I have choices only. My AC wasn't working one time and with that, I can't really describe what's happening to it. Sometimes, the issue isn't the AC alone but the duct as well. I phoned in a claim and Advanced Comfort Solutions came out to do service. The technician was really knowledgeable like he fixed the problem right away without trying to sell anything. Previously, I had a problem with Royal who was trying to sell their unit to us by saying that ours needed to be replaced. That tech didn't clean up my coil. With the one from Advanced, I was really happy. I was impressed by the timeliness of the tech. He took his time to clean up and did a thorough job. My AC has been awesome since then.

We initially had some problems with the Whirlpool refrigerator keeping our food cool. Then, sometime later, the freezer stopped freezing food. We weren't aware of that until two days later. I pulled open the door and everything was thawed out. The technician, Bill, was great and we got quite familiar with him. He lives in our neighborhood, which is awesome. He was very helpful, informative and was as perplexed as we were as to why the unit wasn't keeping things cold. We went through four different service calls and it was kinda hit and miss. We got an entirely new built refrigerator but it took almost six weeks to get our freezer going again. We paid the one-time fee of $75 but the rest were related service calls since they didn't get it fixed.
I told the people I talked to at the warranty place that they didn’t know how bad the inconvenience was. We had no freezer and we had to keep buying meat on an almost every other day basis. We're spending money because we couldn't go out and buy in bulk as we did, plus the initial money on the food that we lost. It was several hundred dollars in meat that we had to throw away. The service person himself said that he doesn't understand why Whirlpool make such an asinine product. The supervisor from AHS was responsive but they should stop giving the runaround. Either they were gonna fix it or replace it. The cost of a new refrigerator probably would have been cheaper against coming here back and forth. We're happy with American Home Shield but we're never buying another Whirlpool product.

Everything went really well with a claim I had with American Home Shield. In my service call with them, they reviewed if the coverage was there, and they said everything was covered, and then they assigned a person. It was very professional, very quick, and easy. Then I called up Ace’s Garage Door Repair & Installation, the assigned contractor, and they followed up quickly on scheduling a date. They had a very good dispatch service where they kept me aware on the day of service, where the person was, and how soon they would be arriving at my place. That was really helpful where I could have a good idea when they were coming. Then they came in, fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes, and everything was done. I even already recommended the company to a friend who had an electric issue.
I've had American Home Shield since last December and I had another issue where the service provider was really bad. Overall, AHS is doing a good job, but maybe they need to get rid of some other providers if they don’t have a good rating or if they're not getting good ratings from customers. Other than that, I would be renewing with AHS for sure.

I didn't know what they needed to do to fix my fridge and I thought I explained and that he understood what was with the fridge.
He came back and put the part. I wasn't there. My husband was there. And at night when I got home, I asked my husband what happened with the fridge and that it was not giving me water. My husband said the contractor put the part and he thought the contractor fixed it. I called back the contractor company on Monday and then the lady told me to call American Home Shield again because in the contract, it was explained that something was wrong with the water dispenser. I said ok and also told her that I showed the guy who came what was wrong with the fridge and I didn't know if that part that he was gonna put wouldn't fix everything.
I called American Home Shield this morning, and they told me they will send the contractor back. I called the contractor company to make an appointment. I was told the guy would be here from 10:00 to 1:00 in my house. The lady from the contractor company called me. She said I should explain everything to the guy. I said I did. She said the guy is really good at writing down what is wrong with the fridge, and he didn't write anything down. And I said that was not my fault. She was kinda raising her voice on me. But that was the contractor company. It was not American Home Shield. American Home Shield has given me assistance right away. They take care of stuff.

They cleaned the burner and they sent in for a new part for the microwave.

A friend of mine recommended AHS. That was the first time I've ever heard of appliance insurance like that. I said, "Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," and I looked into it. Every time I had any kind of issue, it was very easy for me to make an appointment, contact AHS, if I have questions, anything like that. I can call their number and they're really friendly and they have always helped me.
Ray, the GenTech Appliances technician, came out and he was on time and professional. He did everything great. He came in and I had three appliances that he serviced. He was able to fix the refrigerator that same day, but he had to order parts for the other two appliances. He came on a Tuesday and I made an appointment for him to come back the next Tuesday, but he told me was able to come in on Saturday if I was available, which I was. So that worked out really well. He came in and fixed the other two items. I recommend AHS to everybody I know.

Heritage Air & Heat came out and did the work for my AC unit. I told them that the outside pipe is leaking with the AC water and the contractor said that it will stop within 3 days. I waited and it's been a week now but it’s still draining water from the outside. Within normal cases, it doesn’t drain the water from that outlet. So, I’m not sure what’s going on and I will have to call them back and tell them about that.
I've been with AHS for a while now. The only thing which I didn’t like was when I had to put a claim 3 or 4 times for my refrigerator. And every time I put a claim, I have to put the 75 bucks fee on, and it’s the same problem over and over again. It gets fixed and then it gets knocked out again after its period is over so I don’t know what to do with that problem. Other than that, the process in submitting a claim with AHS is fine. Somebody took care of me and they did their best to accommodate my claim.

My air condition was running, but it wasn't blowing out cold air. I set up the initial claim online and everything was great with American Home Shield. It was just the company that they hired that wasn't fine. The first company came out when they said they would and did everything they said. They were charging me $1,100 for Freon, so I had a couple questions about that. After I got the first one answered, I thought about a bit more and called them back in 10 minutes, and I had the second one answered. Then I called them back another 10 minutes after that, and they answered that question. And the lady got frustrated and told me to just find somebody else to get a second opinion.
The second company was great. They came out when they said they were coming and did everything they said. They said it could have been the same thing that the first company were saying was wrong, but they said there were also three other things that could've been wrong with it. And the unit was very old, and the fan has broke, but one of the blades of the actual fan broke off before and it messed up the whole inside. So, the contractor said, "My suggestion would be to just to replace the whole outside unit, instead of just replacing the part inside," where the other company only gave the option to replace the part inside, but it was just crazy because sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't.
When I turn my air conditioner on around 4:00 or 5:00, it would work all the way up to 11 o'clock, and then it would stop working. The contractor just said it could have been a couple of different things that he didn't know American Home Shield want to replace, a couple of little things, before they tried to replace the big one. And then, he finally just said to replace the whole unit, and AHS did. I just noticed yesterday that when it cuts off, it makes a noise, but I haven't had a chance to call AHS to find out if that's normal. It's a brand new unit, so it wouldn't be anything they did. It could have been a defective unit, but I switched mine over from the R22 to the new 410, so I don't know if that's how the units run. I just gotta call them about it.

My AC quit blowing cold air so it was deadly hot then. I called AHS that same day. It’s actually faster to get on the internet but I can’t get on it. Every year, they give a different customer number to sign the contract and I never know what it is. So when you get on the internet and you don't have the proper year, then it won’t do you any good, which is a horrible thing because sometimes, I can’t get in touch with AHS. I have to call back and I have to wait. I almost dropped AHS a couple of times over the last few years because it was aggravating. But it hasn’t been like that the last couple of times. I got in touch with them quickly and they got somebody out there the next day. So, I’m happy. The contractor, Comfort Heating and AC that came out was terrific. When I purchased the home, the refrigerator came with it and there was a piece that apparently was wear-and-tear. It breaks off over time in the condenser so, it rendered the ice maker useless and that was replaced. I initially did the claim over the phone and I had some scheduling issues. Also, the first contractor was rude. So, I called in and I had the associate. Rather than trying to work it out with that contractor, I just told him I didn't wanna work with him. AHS switched me immediately to another contractor and I had no problem. They accommodated my schedule and it worked out great.
The second contractor did a good job. This was kind of a hairy situation because we didn't know what was going on with the ice maker. I just knew that the ice wouldn’t come out. So, I just put on the contractor info sheet that the ice maker wasn’t working. So, they came out, and the switch was off. So, the guys thought I was an idiot, and he turned it on. But I forgot that I turned it off previously after I tried to run it and it didn't work. I called them back out for a second visit once I realized that I finally figured out what the problem was. They came out and replaced the part. Since the repair, the performance has been excellent.

After some time they said they did not have the equipment needed to descale the sewage lines. They advised that Mr. Rooter would need to do this. I called Mr. Rooter and the work was done. AHS refused to reimburse me for the work because they said we should have called back for authorization from them directly rather than following the referral from Sunshine. We had sewage backed up in the tubs and had to do something. After many phone calls to AHS they have refused to pay the $2000 bill. They certainly had the nerve to send us a bill for another year of service after 12 months. The people we dealt with on the phone were not helpful at all. I will never deal with AHS again.

The second company also charged me for materials that I did not need. My AC is still not fixed, and in the meantime I have water damage and mold from the leak and AHS says they don't cover that despite the fact that they have not provided a competent service team over the several months this has been going on. For some reason I've been a customer with them for a few years now and it has continuously gotten worse. If all your service is routine it typically goes just OK. If you happen to need an emergency call out good luck. We had our hot water heater fail and start leaking. For some reason the builder has them in the attic... so you see where this is going. It took 5 calls to finally get them to even look for someone to send out. This is on a Saturday and the first "available" appointment was Thursday. An additional 4 calls got us approved to get an Outside Authorization to find our own plumber. We found one and after we received the quote he called for approval. We were told we needed a second quote. Keep in mind my water is still running damaging my home.
After back and forth they finally approved the work. We were told to pay up front and they would reimburse us for the approved amount. We were told to email the quote to a certain email address which I did and received confirmation of receipt. 40 days later I'm still waiting for the money and keep getting the run around every time I call. I get hung up on. I get their overseas customer service which is difficult to understand at best and is aggressively rude at worst. Worst company to try to work with. If you request to speak to a manager/supervisor the call mysteriously disconnects. If you ask for the escalation department you will get one of two things. Either a very long hold and finally transferred to the person sitting next to the other person or you will be told that they do not have an escalation department. If it was not so much money on the line that they OWE me it would be humorous how bad they are.
I hate to hear that we have not provided the expected service. I can understand your frustration Jeremy. My name is Stacy & I've emailed you as I would like to assist with a resolution.

The first one was two days, and then the second one was just the next day when they came out. So, they were right on top of things. Both of the contractors that have been out here have been great. The young man that came out and did the furnace had to rebuild the whole base unit that was there to make the replacement fit. The older one was 30 years old and it was huge, and the new ones are smaller. It took him most of the day, but he did a wonderful job. The fellow that came out to do the plumbing was here for an hour and 20 minutes. From the time he got here, he saw what it was and he went out to his truck, came back in, and took it out. He put the new one in and hooked it up, and was way to go.

American Home Shield has been there for a few different things before, and they've always been there on a timely manner. But I can never get a hold of anybody on the phone. A long time ago, when the techs first worked on the refrigerator, they did something to the back panel part 'cause it was making a humming sound, and something went out in the refrigerator itself part. They told me to keep it unplugged for 48 hours, so I did that. All of a sudden, when I plugged it back in, it seemed we got a funny odor. I tried to get a hold of American Home Shield because the guy said, "If there are any issues after you start it back up, call us direct and we'll help you." When I called them direct, he said, "You'll have to go through Home Shield again." I tried to call 'cause I didn't wanna pay $100 again for them to come back out, and I ended up just doing that and I could never get a hold of anybody.
That time American Home Shield sent out Sears, who came out and worked on a few things. Then on my own I paid to have it serviced and cleaned underneath. A duct seal was messed up and that was what was causing the smell to come through the refrigerator. They fixed it and after a month, the ice machine was shooting water everywhere and it made a ice waterfall all through the freezer end part of the refrigerator. South Valley Appliance came in and then they worked on that. There was another broken part that they replaced and then when they were replacing that, a piece broke off so they were gonna order that. Before I knew it, AHS sent me the thing for the refrigerator replacement. We went through it and looked at the refrigerators, and we ended up going with the one that the website suggested. Everything worked out perfect. They came out and delivered it, put it in and everything is working good now.

When we were closing the garage door, it would go halfway down and then go back up with all of my remotes. Then on the one that’s for the garage door directly, we had to hold the button down for it to go all the way down. And when we open the garage door again, it would do the exact same thing. It was very frustrating because you can’t close the garage door once it’s up. At one point, you could not open the garage door when it was down. It would go halfway up and then close back again. Garage Door Experts tested to see what was wrong with the garage door. Apparently, it was something with the sensor. So, they were able to fix the sensor, do some maintenance on the garage door itself to make sure if there was something on the sensor, and it worked perfectly.
I submitted the claim online with American Home Shield. And with that claim, navigating the website was okay. I’ve used it before and it did not go as well, but it was a miscommunication of when a repair person was supposed to come out. I found out 10 minutes before the person was arriving that they were on their way because there had to be somebody there. It was like 24 hours. So, we got that situated. And the person with the garage door company called me directly and said, “We will be there tomorrow.” Then when he called again, “We’re in the area, and just make sure somebody’s home.” So, it went quite well with them.

We’ve been with American Home Shield going on three years and everything was always resolved to our satisfaction.

Since the toilet was broken, only one of my two bathrooms was working so I had to walk across the house every single day to use the restroom. It was literally at the opposite side of the house, and my office was on the side of the house with a broken toilet. It was a matter of walking back and forth every single day. The toilet has been broken for a long, long time, and so I finally just reached out to American Home Shield to fix it, and they fixed it up in a quick time and efficiently.
I submitted the claim through the online portal and it seemed all right to me. Just logged on to the website, picked what I needed, paid the $75 fee, had the contractor come out. AHS told me that the contractor would call me. And then a little bit later, either that day or the next day, Lubbock A-1 Plumbing got ahold of me. They came out, fixed what I needed, and they left. They were fantastic. They got everything I needed done and even helped me out with a couple of extra things. Everything has been fixed and performing better than it has ever been. It was a really simple and smooth process.

And once we got back, it took about a week because of the service’s schedule and our schedule. We just couldn’t make anything work. But they were excellent. There were two servicemen and they were clean, professional and answered all our questions. Everything’s working well since the repair.

I submitted my first claim with American Home Shield and it was pretty easy. I was just very unhappy with the way they communicated how long it would take someone to come out. My upstairs AC unit was not cooling and they told me 24 to 48 hours for someone to come out. I asked them to connect me to the person that would be fixing it, that I might spur it up a little bit, but they wouldn't. My family was gonna be in a hot house for 24 to 48 hours, and AHS would not give me the information I needed to help my situation go along a little faster. But Massanelli Heating and AC, their contractor, contacted me as soon as they got the message, and everything went smoothly after that. They came out the next morning and assessed the situation, then they came back later that afternoon. They did what they had to do, and the AC has been working ever since.
I was just a little surprised that I had to pay the deductible, $110. The issue was a small leak in the line and they put something in the line to stop the leak then put additional Freon in. I had to make an out-of-pocket payment on the Freon, since AHS only pay $10 and I had to pay the remainder, and I ended up spending a little over $200. The co-payment was not made clear to me during my sign-up period. I wasn’t unhappy with that, but that makes me think what additional payments do I have to make if I get into another situation, like what if the unit had gone out? That kinda stung a little bit, knowing how it worked out.

But they were in the process of moving offices, so they couldn’t get to me on time. It was okay. When they came, they fixed it right away. Within 10 minutes, it was fixed. They did a good job. I thought like normally people give you the runaround, “We don’t pay for this, we don’t pay for that.” But, everything was taken care of. I was very happy. I had a faucet that was leaking. The first time I submitted them claim, I got an automation, then when Nussbaumer called and said that they could not do the shut-off valve because it wasn't on the work order, I called American Home Shield back, got it included on the work order and then was good to go. When the contractor came, he couldn't shut of the water underneath the sink because the shut-off valves were either broken or frozen. There were two valves. One didn't have a knob and the other one has but the guy from Nussbaumer couldn't turn it. And so, when he came out, he had to shut off the main water and then he had to cut to those off, put those things on, and then change our faucet. Everybody who came here were great. But I would have preferred if they wore booties over their shoes, but they didn't and I didn't ask. Other than that, they were pleasant and knew what to do. They got the job done and the faucet works.
American Home Shield is the best. I know I can call them, and as long as I tell them exactly what's going on, I know that I can get my problem resolved. When people come, there are no surprises. There's never been anything that hasn't been covered that they said, "Oh, we do cover this," and then somebody comes and then it's, "Oh, it's not." And I love that even when I pay 62 a month, I never have to worry about anything in my house not being affordable to fix.

A couple of months ago, we were told by the inspector that there's a leak in the plumbing of where the tub is in the master bathroom. And then, there is a crack in the tub that keeps getting bigger and bigger. I wanted AHS's contractor, J-Star Services, to come out and see if the leak is related to the crack and why is the crack there, if it's not for the leak. The plumber said there was no leak and he didn't know why the crack is there. So, the crack just keeps getting bigger and bigger and I don't wanna find out something bad to happen while we're taking a shower.
My online claims experience was not bad, overall. I like the way they have claims categorized and sub-categorized. Their site just needs to give more options as far as being able to put in more description of the issue that you're having. My interaction with the J-Star plumber was good, initially. We had backup issues coming from the guest bedroom into my shower. Originally, Gator Drain and Plumbing came out for the guest bathroom and declared it taken care of. But the next night, it did the same thing. So, I called American Home Shield again and the next day, they sent out this young kid who didn’t know what he was doing. He couldn’t find the clean pipe so he pulled the toilet and he charged me 150 bucks because it was not carried under plumbing to pull the toilet. Then they told me that it was gonna cost me $650 for them to come out and do the clean-out.
I ended up calling someone else and the guy came out and put the snake down the pipe through my roof, and found my clean-out and it had roots in it. He showed me what was going on and made sure I understood, and he charged me 350 bucks instead of 650. Also, the old homeowners knew that they had some backup and they did not disclose this, so my Realtor and her title law firm company were taking care of that. We had to replace 60 feet of pipes on the house out to the sidewalk. It is clear enough right now that we’re using it, but the guy can’t guarantee how long it’s gonna work. So, I’m waiting for an estimate from him.
I know that AHS is not gonna cover the outside piping. The guy that I hired on my own snaked it through my roof and I wanted to know if it would be classified as outside or inside. If they pay for everything, I should get reimbursed from them. If it’s not, that’s okay. Eventually, I will get my money back in some way, shape or form. American Home Shield has been a good help. They sent out who they knew to send out, but they might want to find somebody else to recommend.

The thermostat on our upstairs AC unit says 72, but it is not 72 up there. One room will be really cold and one room will be hot. When submitting the claim with American Home Shield, I did everything online and got a referral. Then J-Tech called me immediately. American Home Shield did what they said and it was very smooth. When the technician came out, he didn't find anything and he said that the AC was working fine.
The technician didn’t really offer any solutions for the AC other than he just thought it was the most we can expect since it was super hot and there was a 20-degree differential between outside and in. It was a little cooler that day and the upstairs did feel cooler. But it is definitely warmer than the rest of the house. The issue could be something with the vent or with the thermostat. I'm just gonna wait and see just how the AC performs. Other than that, the guy from J-Tech was very nice and professional. He had a lot of experience and I liked him. I asked him about how big the unit was and if it was enough for that space, and he said that it was. It’s 2-ton and the upstairs is just basically two bedrooms, a small sitting area, and a bathroom.

We couldn't get our 17 year old AC unit to come back on. I called AHS immediately at 7:00 that night. The next morning, they were trying to find someone to come out. They couldn't find anyone to do service in my area which is rural and out in the country. The contractor they got a hold of couldn't come until the next day. We tried throughout the day until Gaines Appliance, Heating & Air Repair came to get the AC to come on but it wouldn't. When their tech came, the AC came on for him and he said that he couldn't diagnose it until it cuts off so that he could see what was going on. So, we waited but then it never cut off. The tech told us that I have two months to recall so if the AC cuts off, he would come back that night or the next day. The AC has worked fine though since it's cooler now, we haven't had to turn it on.
The tech did say that if the issue was the condenser, it was a part that he could replace. If it was the compressor, the whole unit would have to be replaced. But he could not make that decision until he saw it actually do what it was doing. I hated that I had to pay $100 and I wished the tech could have gotten out while the AC was doing what it was doing. Even so, I'd definitely recommend AHS.

But the lady was very kind and finally was able to fix it. So, that was okay.
The person who came personally knocked the door. I didn't hear when he knocked the door. I just saw through the window that somebody was there because of the car. And when I opened the door, he said that the problem was fixed. It was fixed very quickly. He didn't even explain finding or fixing the problem. I didn't like the way he operated. I usually submit my claims online and it’s fairly easy. AHS scheduled somebody to come out and take a look. The contractor found what was wrong, but they weren’t able to get the part right away. So, the next day, they came back with the part and installed the part, and got it working. The service call fee is $75 no matter what. I understand that AHS don’t wanna have people just calling for nothing and having a guy come out to look at it and they have to pay that company to come look at it, and then they find there's nothing wrong. But AHS should give you, if not the full amount, something back if there's a problem found so we don’t have to pay quite as much because we're paying plenty for the service already.

The hot water heater was leaking. I went online to submit a claim to AHS and then Plumb Genius got back to me and looked at my account. They said they would repair the hot water heater or replace it if needed. The guy from Plumb Genius came out and inspected it and said that it was essentially eroding from the inside, so it needed to be replaced. He started the process, and then a different group of two men came out three days later and took care of it. The new water heater tank is doing very well. In fact, we get hot water in our farthest bathroom, which is our master bathroom. We get it about three minutes earlier, so I'm saving on water with the efficiency of it.
Apparently, there was a substantial pay to upgrade, but I'm not complaining because it needed to be done. AHS covered what they said they would, so I'm thankful for it. It would have been a lot more, and I did not have that. I've used AHS two or three times and I've never been disappointed. So, I'm very happy with them. We've had Home Shield a couple of times since we bought our house. Having a warranty is a benefit as I have no way to know a house unless I build it myself. Also, when I have a warranty I get a chance to have old stuff that may start going out taken care of. But I realized the previous problems that hadn't been taken care of were not covered. We had a leak under our sink in one of the bathrooms. Home Shield assigned DFW Plumbing and they were great. They got back to me right away and they sent a guy out. When he looked at the sink, he said that it had been installed improperly and there were pieces missing, and he knew American Home Shield would not cover it. He gave us a bid for their company to fix it, which we did not do. We ended up getting our own plumber.
But everybody that we dealt with Home Shield has been great. We had an electrical company come out and they took care of everything that was not working properly. They were very professional and knowledgeable. Also, submitting a claim, calling and getting it set up is very easy. I call and it's automated. Then, they get back to me within 24 hours. They kept trying to assign a person who works where my home is, so I had to call multiple times to get that remedied. I took two hours on Friday and an hour yesterday. Otherwise, I like to submit requests online. When I requested service for my appliance and the claim went great. CK Appliance Repair serviced us before and we've enjoyed them. They have one guy who does our type of dishwasher and he's great. I left him alone at my house before because I had to go. I trust him that much.
Good Morning Ronnie,

I submitted a claim for my pool online and the website was great. Dba Pool Ology came the next day. It was right away. They were great and fixed the problem. And things have been great since then. ’Cause of that, I can sleep better at night. I therefore perform better at work, therefore I’m less grumpy, I didn’t yell at my employees. So everybody was happy with it, including the guys doing the work for me. I’ve been with American Home Shield for years and my experience with them was excellent.
Good Morning Tim,
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

I've had American Home Shield for a total of 16 years. I kept it because I wanted to make sure that I was covered. I've been in my house now for 12 years and I wasn't even here two months before I actually had to have my stove replaced because it malfunctioned. They couldn't fix it, so they ended up replacing it. It's a peace of mind.
But I am so, so disappointed in D&P Plumbing's service and everything that happened with that company. I feel like AHS should drop them from their list. The first time the tech came out to diagnose and fix the leak, he said we were good. He said he secured the knob and that we should be fine. But he wasn't gone an hour and the shower began leaking even worse when my son got out of the shower. When we were in the shower, it sounded like the water was hitting and gonna come through my kitchen. And it wasn't the cold water, it was the hot water, so I had to turn it off. I tried to call the tech but he didn't answer. I texted him and I also sent him a video just to show him and asked when he could come out.
It was a week and a half before he even responded to me calling him. I had to turn the hot water off and leave it off. It was leaking so bad and I knew that my bill was gonna be ridiculous if I just let it. The only time we had hot water is when we took a shower. When I washed dishes, or clothes, or anything like that, I couldn't use the hot water because I kept having to turn it on and off. And my thing was it wasn't even dripping, it was pouring from the shower.
Finally, he came back out and he looked at it again. He said that he could temporarily fix it and tighten our knobs, but that he was gonna have to go through the wall, knock some tiles out, and fix the leak in the wall. I told him that this happened to me about five years ago and there is a way to get to the pipes from the inside of my actual closet, from my bedroom. He said he felt like he had to knock the tiles out because he didn't know if he could get to it from our closet. Also, he said it was gonna cost me $150 for him to do the work and I said, "Okay, fine, whatever it takes." I just needed it fixed so we could continue to use the shower and use the hot water.
More time passed and I finally called AHS and filed a complaint. I said they had approved for him to do the work and I was waiting for him to come. I texted him and I told him it was approved. He started texting me back and he was giving me this long story and I thought he had me mixed up with somebody else. It sounded like he had way too many jobs.
I sent him another video and I said I was in tears because it was leaking worse and worse to the point where it was pouring. He texted me back and he said it was gonna cost $150. I told him to go back and look at his text. I told him when American Home Shield approved it two weeks prior that I was okay with paying that fee. He said he was gonna check his calendar. Another week passed and I texted him and I asked what was going on. I called American Home Shield and I talked to somebody. I asked for another company and they told me that the tech needed to finish the job and AHS was gonna have to charge me another $75. He came back a third time and he knocked out tiles on my wall. He tapes it up and he puts in a brand new spout in the bathtub and some kind of dial but it was still leaking.
I called back to file the complaint because another week and a half had passed, I talked to the lady and I told her what happened. I asked if there was any way that someone else could come out and she said sure. I thanked her and told her that when I called back before, I asked for someone to come out to get a second opinion and they told me that I would have to pay again and that this person needed to complete the job. She said that was not correct. They should have never told me that I have to pay again. She said she had had to correct a couple of cases that week where people were told the same thing. And that just broke my heart because I feel like I have really been taken for granted.
They reassigned it to Sage Mechanical. A guy came out and he was here 45 minutes. He went right in through my closet, like I had told the other plumber, and he fixed the leak. I asked him if it was necessary for the other man to knock out my wall and he said, "No." I almost wanted to just pass out. So, now I have a huge hole in my wall and I've been trying to work a contractor to come get it fixed. The contractors are very busy and they're very expensive, so I have no idea how much it's gonna cost me to repair the damage that he did to my shower.
