AHS sent Street Plumbing & Rooter and it went really well. I've been having the same issue for a while. I had Poe's Plumbing before that, and they didn't complete the whole list of things that it had wrong, and they said that they were waiting for approval from Home Shield, and I guess, in turn, closed the account, saying that they were finished instead. And so, I was in limbo land for a while. I had to call, and this lady took care of me and got me a new plumber and took care of it without charging me again another $75.
The plumber from Street Plumbing came in 24 hours. He came fast. He was sweating to get the job done. He had to go and get the part, go back and forth to the hardware store to get parts because he was having some problems getting the toilet mounted. The floor was giving him some problems. But he didn't give up and got the toilet fixed and mounted properly.
But I still have a hole in my ceiling and it my closet. The lady that helped me get the plumber is trying to get me somebody to finally patch my holes because it's been almost two years I've had a hole in my ceiling. The last plumbers had to poke a hole in the ceiling because I had water leaking downstairs into my light fixture. And then when they finally came to fix it they had to cause another hole in my closet.
I called to get the repairs for that and the company that was sent out to do that never showed up for the appointment. It was my day off and I waited for three hours that they gave me that they were gonna show up. They never showed up. I need somebody to finish fixing the job and I would be really happy. The lady said it's been a year, so she has to charge me another $75. I don't even care at this point. I just need to get somebody out here. I'm super frustrated. But the lady I dealt with from AHS has been great.

In my bathroom was stopped up. I put in a request with American Home Shield and they sent a contractor out. The contractor work was to stop for about 10 minutes, said they could not fix it and American Home would contact me. I contacted American Home. Contacted me and said the repair would end up costing 400 or $600 based on the two options at the contract fair had given them. I ended up calling another plumbing company and they came out and they fixed it within 30 minutes using a basic snake. I contacted American Home and they said that whatever their contractor says is is what they go by and they can put a note on my file that the contractor came out and that was all they could do for me. I’m very disappointed in the service that I received and the quality saying that I was ripped off of $75 that I paid to have somebody come out and act or fake like they were repairing the drain.

I requested for a service online for my garbage disposal through their website, which was easy to use. The contractor came out and reset the garbage disposal. I wasn’t happy that I had to spend $75 for them to come out and do that, which I could’ve done myself. Somebody could’ve just called ahead of time and ask me if I had done things. It could’ve saved me $75 from having to pay that. The garbage disposal works fine now.

When we had to renew our policy this year, we switched over to American Home Shield. They had better coverages on appliances and everything in the house than others had. When we made our last claim for our three appliances, they sent out two parts to fix our dishwasher, but they ended up replacing the dishwasher. But I still have those parts and I don’t know what to do with them. Overall, our experience with AHS has been great.

My refrigerator started making a loud noise, and then all my food went rotten as it wasn't cold enough. Mr. Appliance of Rio Rancho came out and I really like the guy. He had to order another fan, but we've had nothing but problems. He's really good but we still have him coming out 'cause there are still issues. In fact, we've been without a refrigerator for 2 weeks now, and I was very pissed off because how long can one go without a refrigerator. We have 5 kids, so it's been miserable. I called about it yesterday and the guy was supposed to call us yesterday as well but we haven't heard yet from him. Still, even though we continually have issues, Home Shield seem to resolve them.

The previous time I submitted a claim to AHS I kept getting one operator that I felt bad for. It was like she was reading off a list. The conversation kept going back to the list and I was getting more and more frustrated with her. She sounded like she understood English better than she spoke English. Not that she was doing anything deliberately, but she didn't have the answer that I needed and she couldn't explain it any better.
Still, AHS has been pretty good about scheduling things and getting contractors out to my place quickly. Sometimes, I have a little hard time getting through to them, but that’s just happenstance. I've had certain contractors that I’ve tried to keep with once they been out here since they know how things work at my location. On occasion, it’s kind of difficult to get that specific contractor, but usually, AHS gets the same ones out. This last time I submitted a claim, it didn't work out that way, but the ones that they're sending out as substitutes, I’m comfortable with ‘cause I’ve worked with them on other occasions.

My dishwasher needed to be fixed, and so I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online. The contractor came out after a day or two and he was very knowledgeable and professional. He replaced the part that was not working on the unit and fixed it in about an hour. It was working as far as washing. I had to pay my copay for the visit. But, then the dishwasher would not heat up. I could not get everything to go through online, so I contacted AHS. They were good about sending the tech out for the second time to fix the heat setting on it without charging me additional because it was related to the first problem. I really liked that. Since the repairs, it is running like new again.

Usually, I submit claims to AHS online and somebody responds within a day or so. However, their plumbing contractors don't take care of the problem I have or they have to come back more than once. Also, there’s no way for me to communicate that to American Home Shield. They only have a survey and whether it’s complete or not, their contractors can come back out again. Once I had an issue after one issue was done and realized that the work order was wrong and I hadn’t been able to get it fixed yet. Still, all the contractors except for the ones for plumbing have been great. AHS's service is fast. They pay claims and all is good.

I was having trouble with two of my toilets, where water wasn’t filling in the sink in one, and the other one kept running. I called American Home Shield and they were able to get my claim processed very quickly. Two years ago, however, I got a lot of runaround with a claim I filed for my microwave. They sent a contractor out who said that the appliance was not worth fixing, but AHS didn't wanna replace it. They sent another contractor out and they said the same thing. This dragged on for several months, until finally, they replaced the microwave. Other than that, all of the service that they provided for me have been okay.

The ice dispenser was no longer dispensing ice and it was the result of a broken paddle switch. The paddle comes in a piece that is basically the entire control module for the refrigerator. So it wasn't simple but it wasn't too complicated. It took Pro Appliance Inc. one initial visit, and then the subsequent visit to put the part in. Now it's working like it's supposed to. It was the first time I've reported a claim through American Home Shield and I didn't even speak with a person. It was all electronic. The timing could have been a little more prompt, but aside from that, it was good.

Our dryer was making a lot of noise. I called American Home Shield and requested the service on it. They contacted GE and scheduled an appointment. GE repaired it and did everything they had to do. My wife wasn’t home at the time and so, I said it was fine. When she came home, she said, “It still sounds a little loud to me.” When we started it up, it’d be running for a while and it’d be loud. But it’ll calm down or it’ll run a bit quieter. But she said that it’s still isn’t right. The contractor replaced a fan, the motor and a couple other things. I don’t know what else to be done. So, I wanted to have GE come back out and listen to it. I’ve had American Home Shield for the last five years and I’m very happy with them even though I’m still dealing with them on this dryer. But I'd say the opposite about my experience with them last year or two years ago when I had a air conditioner problem. Still, I’d recommend them.

My daughter has turned us onto American Home Shield and we've been using them for about 10 years now. I recently had a pool problem where the contractor came right out, got an outfit out, and fixed it, and everything was great. While I’m okay with my experience, my daughter and her family are having an experience that is absolutely terrible. She had a ruptured water heater and the plumber, who they sent in to assess the situation and to replace the water heater, has a list of items that he claims has to be done to come into more recent code compliance. I paid 100 bucks for it, first off, including things like replacing the drip pan that was under the water heater with a new drip pan. But there’s no reason in heck that somebody needs to replace the drip pan. The old one that was sitting there was just fine yet they wanted 80 bucks to do it.
That was $800 in stuff that was not covered by American Home Shield, but they were required to be paid before American Home Shield will okay the installation of the new water heater. My daughter had not gotten a second opinion and they can’t even get American Home Shield to send them a list of the items that the plumber claims has to get done for code enforcement. Today will be the third day that they're trying to get a list of this supposed stuff for code compliance that totals 800 and something dollars and American Home Shield is really dragging their feet on it. It is so egregious. Also, when my daughter first asked for the list, the response was that because they were in Texas, then it has to be mailed to them. But that could take a week and they could have instead use email which would take a few seconds.
My daughter's family is in a house with a single water heater and it’s tough to get the family around in the morning through showers, doing proper cooking, cleaning up in the kitchen, and all that without hot water. They couldn’t live in the house while all this was going on so we welcomed them with open arms and we have them here in our home during the process. Yet American Home Shield sure as heck isn’t doing anything to help them get through the problem quicker and get the damn thing taken care of.
I apologize for the way we've handled your daughters claim. My name is Stacy and I will send you a private message as I would like to verify your daughters account for follow up.

American Home Shield sent people who came out and fixed our air conditioning. I did the claim over the phone and the rep was fantastic. The contractors came pretty quickly. I didn't even know I had a warranty. And I happen to be on the road and saw an email that went, "Your home warranty's about to expire." So I dialed their number and they took care of me. In fact, I'm still waiting on a callback on them for my second home. I put one on that one too. I was happy with what happened.
I already had somebody come out and give me an estimate and they tried to rip me off. They were trying to charge me three grand worth of work on the furnace. And not knowing furnaces, I just said, "Screw it. We're gonna replace the furnace at some point in time anyhow and we're rebuilding the house." But the guy that the home warranty people sent out showed me it was a filter. He replaced the filter and the thing took off and worked perfectly. So in many ways, it was a good experience.
Overall, the AHS rep handled me good, and the result was excellent. I actually invited the company that came out to do it to come back and help me with some more work and I haven't heard from him yet. So that's the only part that didn't work out, but either way, it was a good experience and I would recommend AHS to anybody. I already have recommended it to people.

Usually, about the time we get off the phone, their rep would tell us that the person will be there at the house. This time they said, “We’ll have the person contact you.” It didn’t take long, but usually we get it done right then and there. And most of the contractors that they've sent out were professional.

One side of the heating and air conditioning unit looked dead. I called AHS to submit a service request and the agent I spoke with went above and beyond. We had an excellent interaction. The rep from AMP Mechanical HVAC was at the site promptly at 7 o’clock. He was very gracious and kind, and had the problem fixed in five to seven minutes. We thought something had happened to our HVAC, but it turned out that it was out of the actual unit itself, it has a special switch, and he knew about it. It was a real easy fix and he did a very good job. It has been a very good experience. With AHS, you don’t have to worry about what comes up. You know it can be taken care of.

We had a catastrophe with our washing machine. A water valve inside broke and it flooded the machine. Water flooded the laundry room before we were able to stop the water from coming out. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield online, which was better than waiting half an hour for a live person to come over the phone. This happened on a Friday afternoon and we got the notice that it was assigned to Ellis in the evening. Being the weekend, I did not expect to hear anything fast. The contractor called us the following Monday, which was the first business day after the occurrence. He came out the next day, checked the machine, and said he had to order some part. He warned us that it might take 7 to 10 days to get it.
Then, he called back the following Saturday, only four days after he was here, to say that the parts just arrived to him and could he come out on Sunday morning and complete the repair, which I thought to be 100% amazing that any appliance guy worked on a Sunday. He came out that morning and made the repair. He stayed and checked through a cycle to make sure things were running right, too. He was very pleasant, professional and nice. Since that repair, everything seems fine.

I put in a service call with AHS and Appliance Plus came out and looked at the fridge. They assessed the problem and ordered the parts, came and installed the parts. The icemaker is now working perfectly fine. But the major issue is that my fridge is leaking a lot of water, and it's building up inside the fridge. The gentleman who came before said that the problems were fixed. However, a couple of days later, the water was still leaking.
I made a second call to American Home Shield, and they scheduled a technician to come out. They didn't do any technical work or anything like that. He just leveled off the fridge and made some adjustments on the wheels on the bottom of it because he was saying that was possibly the problem why the water is leaking. He assured me that the problem was fixed.
However, when he left, a few days later, I checked it again, and it was still leaking. So I put in another call for the third time for them to come out and look at the fridge. And as of right now, I have an appointment set for them to come back out again to look at the fridge and to address the leaking problem that I'm having. Another issue is that when I put in a service call, the wait time is a bit much. You have to wait too long for service technician to come out.
It's a serious problem, then I have to constantly go into the fridge and drying up the water, taking the water out of it just so I won't have an overflow and create a mess. And my appointment is for, I believe, November 5th. I'm not sure why it's taking them that long to come out and look at the problem. So, it's a bit frustrating. I'm very dissatisfied. It took three appointments for them to come out and look at the fridge, and it's still not fixed.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

We had two issues with the fridge and Sharper Service Solutions came out and fixed one, then realized the ice maker was also a problem. They told me about it and that it was making noise. The tech came out and thought it wasn't just the ice maker, and that it was something else. And so, we fixed that but the ice maker still didn't make ice, so he came back out a second time and repaired that. So far, everything is fine. I submitted my claim online the first time, which was very easy, but I called for the follow-up. The two times that I've had to talk to the AHS reps have been fine and the tech that came out was professional. We've been with AHS for seven years now and we will be renewing again next year.

In terms of the providers, The Lindsay Company, it was a really good job, but American Home Shield's procedure is if it’s broken, they try to fix it. If it breaks again, then they change it. I understand it may be fixable though. Initially, my waste disposal started getting stuck and when the guy came back, he expected it and he did something. A few weeks later, the same issue continued and the unit ended up leaking. This claim was submitted online and I immediately got an email saying that somebody was gonna come from this company and they did. It was in the time frame that was mentioned and the guy who came was very helpful. He explained the process and everything else. I'm happy with American Home Shield.

I read up on a bunch of home warranty companies and after reading their fine print, they had some areas that would make it a gray area if you called about something. And American Home Shield was really straightforward. I liked their price and the guarantee, and I've been with them for three years now. I have never had a home warranty before and their customer service has been were very good about explaining things and answering my questions. I like the fact that I can go online now and put my request in if I need service. I don’t have to wait until business hours. And they’re easy to work with.
The contractors that have been out were good too. I've lived in my house and this community for a long time, and they’re all new to me because AHS don’t pick anybody in my town. I’m 67 years old and I’ve used the same people for a long time so having to rely on somebody from the company that I’m not familiar with was a bit different at first. But most of them have been really honest and has done a good job. This time, I got a different appliance guy than I got last time.
AHS's price was 50 something dollars several years ago when I signed up, and now it’s a high 60s. I don’t know if it’s normal for the price to go up every year. I wonder if it’s based on whether or not you make a claim. That’s the only thing and because I’m on a fixed income, I really would like for it to be more stabilized so that I know what it’s gonna be every year.
I joined American Home Shield after I lost my husband. I don’t have anyone that I can call for everything that happens in the house and I’ve been in my home for 30 years. Unfortunately, we live in a time when it’s almost like you get on a widow’s list. People know that you’re alone, that you’re a widow and they take advantage. I had a bad experience with a plumber right after my husband died.
And a friend said, “You don’t have to deal with that. Before, when I owned a home, I had American Home Shield. They’re reliable. They’re somebody you can go to. You don’t have to worry about what it’s gonna cost you. You don’t have to worry how you can afford to get something fixed. You know it’s gonna be a set amount.” And I said, “Okay.” And because of the age I am, I do have a lot of friends now who are losing their partners and their husbands, and they’re in the same situation. Their homes and appliances are older, and they don’t know who to call. If they do call, they don’t know if they’re gonna be able to afford it on Social Security. So, I recommend AHS to people like that. I tell them that it’s peace of mind for me.

We had the air conditioner unit go out and we kept asking him what kind of unit it was gonna be replaced with because we have a high-end unit, a Trane unit, and he said he didn't know. We got there and it was a bottom-of-the-line unit, and he got mad because he had somebody deliver it and I wasn’t satisfied with it. He finally took it back, and we ended up just taking a cash settlement and getting our own unit. We took care of it ourselves. But overall, AHS has been all good.

I've had AHS for nine years and I like the fact that if anything goes wrong here in the house that my appliance or whatever is covered. Their customer service reps have been pleasant so far. I also haven't had any issues with any of the contractors. But there was a time we wanted them to come out a little bit quicker because of a refrigerator issue. And we had to reschedule a few times. So we lost quite a bit of food, but once they came out and repaired it, it was fine. There was a little bit of miscommunication at first, but then we got back on track.

The air conditioner has to have something replaced, and I have asked the contractor if we can hold off until January since we do not need air conditioning here now. They were very professional and I was very pleased with the young man. I am going to call him and work with him in January, where I am going to have him replace the unit because it has to be replaced.
American Home Shield, however, can look at some of the restrictions or not covered and see if they could cover some of the items that pretty well would go along with what has to be done to the big part of it. If they do not cover that, how can I put the big thing in? So I wind up paying that, and some of the small items are pretty costly. Those small items there could be added as part of the overall service. If you replace something big like that and then they add on soldering a wire, it ii is going to be pretty expensive. They nickel-and-dime you to death. Nevertheless, we have been happy with American Home Shield. They are doing a great job. We are also fairly happy with Greenway, who they usually call whenever we have any issue.

We moved into the house this past spring, so we hadn’t been in a position where we needed to use the heat at all. Once it got cold here in Charleston, we tried to turn the heat on but we weren’t getting any heat from the system. The heat pump was not working properly. This was the fourth thing that I’ve used AHS since we moved in. The actual owner of Coastal Comfort came out and he was able to identify quickly what the issue was and got it fixed the same day. It was a pricey repair normally and he was actually able to use the warranty that was on the system and got the part replaced with no additional cost to me. And so, I thought they had not to bill anything back to American Home Shield either. Overall, it’s been a positive experience.
It’s a few simple clicks for the claims process and American Home Shield is quick to respond and get somebody scheduled. So, it’s been pretty easy. Everything that I’ve done has been digital, online and I haven’t had the need to speak with anybody directly. Everybody that I’ve worked with, that they’ve sent out, has been really pleasant to work with. AHS is something that was provided when we purchased the home for us as an incentive. I hadn’t had any experience with home warranties previously, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how seamless it’s been.

We had a leaky toilet around the base of the toilet. I was told by Home Shield that somebody would call me within a day, 24 hours. The plumbing company called and said they’d come in three days. It was like Thursday or Friday whenever I submitted the claim and then they came here on Monday. The contractor was very professional and he knew what he was doing. Just a nice guy. Overall, it’s worth the while to have American Home Shield. I’ve had a couple of instances in the past where I canceled, and then sure enough, three months later I had a problem. So, I’ve pretty much stuck with it now for about 25 years or so on two different houses.

Hers & His Plumbing was sent by American Home Shield for the tank to the toilet that was leaking. The contractor was absolutely professional. I asked many questions about the operations of the toilet and what needs to be done, and he explained situations to me and explained how the toilet worked. And he was very informative and homeowners appreciate that. He did not have to do anything. Unfortunately, I drained the whole tank of water wanting not to have my floor damaged, and so he couldn’t see what the problem was. He did explain the situation to me very thoroughly. And he did think that the type of toilet that I have, the gasket as he said probably needed to dry out. And when it dried out, the leaking was stopping itself. So he said, if anything else, it was under a certain time frame, I can call him back and there’d be no extra charge, and I was grateful to hear that.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Debra. We look forward to handling your future warranty needs. Have an amazing week.

I used AHS' service for a week right when I first got the home in November of last year. Then in October, my water heater went out. I decided to give American Home Shield a call to see if it’s covered or not. Luckily, it was. But I feel like there are a few items on the bid that didn’t make sense for the type of home and the placement of the water heater that’s there. When I went to review it with the plumbing company, they said, “Well, these are our charges. So, if you want to get a cash out with American Home Shield, you’re welcome to do so.” I said that I was just hoping to get it taken care of but they didn’t seem like they were willing to work with me on the price of the permit and the other things. I didn’t think they even do the permit for a water heater 'cause they give just like a sticker to put on the water heater.
But anyway, American Home Shield was fine. It’s just that there's already a shut off valve in place at home and the pan didn’t make sense because there was nowhere for it to drain in the basement. And the strapping was quick and there was nothing to brace it to even if they put the two by four’s in place. After talking to a friend and looking at the bid, I was like, “That seems scrillion.” Looking at a few things on the Home Depot website of what things cost and the hourly rate to put it in, I was like, “Well, it just seems a little weird.” Everyone has their prices and the time is worth one bit. AHS said that if I wanted to go and get a cash out, then I could just do so and use a contractor that I wanna use. I told them that I’ll try to work with the contractor and see if there’s any way they can do anything. So, I’m gonna think about it for a day and then we decide.

He was a little late, but he made it. He worked very quickly and did a good job of making the repair. Everything is dried up now and is working beautifully. So, I'm very pleased. I also have another claim going on where I didn't have to do anything except call and say, "I needed this done." And then, the contractor called and set up an appointment. American Home Shield had to send out three different plumbers, and they still didn’t complete the job. The first plumber put the wrong seal in my master bedroom toilet, and the water came out of the tank onto the floor. They told us that they had completed the job, but the one part of the job that he did not complete was we have a frozen handle on our bathtub and they needed to change the cartridge. They just closed it tight enough where it wouldn’t drip, and then it started dripping again. We noticed a leak on our tub. We called them, and they told us to put another claim in with American Home Shield, which we did. And we had them come out. The second plumber made the adjustment on the seal on the toilet and he fixed it. He said that the tub has been fixed too. But he never fixed it. It was still dripping, and they closed out the ticket.
I had to call American Home Shield again, and they sent out a third plumber. He’s supposedly their top guy. Before they came out, we noticed that our ceiling had water damage on it and that it’s stained. But we just got our entire house painted less than two months ago. So we called American Home Shield and told them that when the first guy didn’t put the seal on correctly, the water leaked down from the upstairs restroom into our ceiling. American Home Shield said it was between me and the contractor since it was secondary damage, so the contractor is responsible for it. We went back-and-forth, and I called American Home Shield a bunch of times, and they said that I gotta take it up with the contractor.
There’s a couple of different stains in my ceiling from where the water had moved. The contractor came out to look at it and the guy decided to cut into the ceiling to see where the water came from. And then they tried to blame it as a pre-existing situation with condensation lines. I told them that we didn’t have these problems before they came out here. And then I didn’t hear anything from them. After the guy left, I waited a week and I called them and the rep said, "Let me get it to my supervisor.” I waited another week, and nothing.
I kept calling them till they decided to answer the phone, and I told them that I did my part, I paid for their service, and they didn’t complete the job. I also said that if they're not gonna do it, I’m gonna go after them civilly and with legal action. So, the receptionist immediately called the owner and put him on. I tried to explain to him before he cut me off. And he got really short really quick because I didn’t want him to blow me off again. He said that I'm gonna wait. So, he puts me on hold, comes back on, and he had an attitude with me by raising his voice.
I was very frustrated, but I did not yell. I raised my voice at him, but I didn’t cuss at him. I told him that if he was not gonna listen to me, then we can talk about this in person, which I was gonna go get the police and we’re gonna go down there and have a civil standby while we talk about it. He blew up at me, and said that I can talk about it in person at his house. And then, he hangs up on me. Then he gives his secretary directions not to accept any more of my phone calls. So, I have this big hole in my ceiling, and my tub is still dripping.
I’ve been calling American Home Shield for weeks, and everyone that they would call me back tomorrow. I've talked to three different personnel, and they said they were gonna escalate it. But no one ever called me back and followed up. And this has been going on for a month. I don’t want any of that guy's crew back in my house. But I shouldn’t have to pay another $100 to get someone out here and finish the job. I may end up cutting service from American Home Shield and finding somebody else because they don’t care.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

Unfortunately, although I wanted to make sure they got the address right, they got 503, but it's 5003. The contractor was trying to make sure he had the right house and fortunately we live in a small cul-de-sac, so it wasn't hard to locate.
He had to replace the evaporator and he did it right then. He had it all in his truck. The repair has been perfect. We got hot water. But when I had my air conditioner fixed in the summer I was disappointed in the fact that they paid literally nothing for the Freon, and I had to put out $400 for that. I almost could pay for another unit for what I paid for the Freon. So that wasn't Kosher, but it is what it is.

As a paying American Home Shield customer, I am very disappointed in their customer service and the contractors they work with. I reported a water leak on October 17th and was provided service on the 21st. An AHS authorized vendor, Grade A Plumbing, asked for a payment of $295 to disconnect my water heater, installed in front of the cracked pipe, as the technician could not see the crack clearly. I was told that this type of “access” is not covered by AHS, and that if I did not pay for access, AHS would not cover to have the issue fixed. The Grade A Plumbing tech then said that I would have to pay another $295 when they return to fix the issue; a total of $590 dollars to disconnect my water heat to simply access the leaking cast iron pipe. I was then told that they could leave the water heater unhooked for both the diagnosis and repair for $345. Left with no other option, I was forced to pay this amount.
It has been 2 days since the initial diagnosis. I reached out to AHS several times during the last few days for a status check and have not had an update yet. I was offered a total of $150 to go stay at a hotel with my 1 year old UNTIL this problem is resolved. I simply want my pipe repaired and my water heater put back so that we have hot water. This experience makes confirms by affirmation that companies like AHS
I would like AHS to recommend a hotel near me for under $150 for our TOTAL stay (it has been 3 nights of staying outside so far). I would also really appreciate it if AHS establishes some control over their authorized vendors and how much they charge for “access”. I would also really like to go back to living in our home. AHS - I know that you won’t let me down! Thank you, Holder of Contract

Why I stayed w/ AHS for as long as I did is my own fault, however, it's been a massive time suck and nightmare from top to bottom, start to finish. No one ever has any info from previous calls. I'm passed from one rep to another and have to repeat myself w/ every new rep. Currently, they are STILL taking MY money out of MY account for a contract that was cancelled months ago. Now I get to go clean up the NSF mess it left NOT TO MENTION they have NO RECORD (not shocked) of my cancelling. They have assigned contractors who have not kept appts or done the work they were called to do and they could care less about any of that. They just collect $ on their contracts. Literally could not get PAID to do business w/ them.

Upon learning from the plumbing company that I would have to pay an additional $586.00 to have my leaking water heater replaced, I called AHS. After the first call, was told not to worry that it was still an open ticket. No description of modifications had not been submitted for approval. Next day call from plumber told me I had to pay this amount and they had not spoken to AHS. I called AHS again. This time was told that there would be an additional amount of $586 due the plumber upon replacement. No explanation on modifications.
Third day, AHS called stating a list of "bogus" modifications, like removing the furnace, replacing lines, permits, and old water heater removal fee to the tune of $581.00. It has become obvious that AHS was not interested in confirming these modifications since it was not them who would be paying the additional $581. Upon checking with a trusted plumber, no modifications were needed. AHS low-balled me on a replacement unit and I will await reimbursement from AHS. This is the treatment I received as a 17 year AHS customer.

This company made it extremely difficult to interact with their billing department. I used them for a major repair and they did okay with that (though it took over two months all told to get my AC replaced), however, when I tried to cancel the service after my year contract they were very shady. I called one month before and was told that it wouldn't renew. Then the charged showed on my credit card again. I called back and was told that I hadn't requested it to be non-renewed and the only way to back date it was to request a supervisor review the tapes and that I'd have to call back during a certain time to do that.
I called back again and was told that I was asked on the original call to contact them again at the end of my contract to cancel (not true). So, I feel like they're inputting certain data in their system that is NOT what we discussed. I've now been sitting on hold for 40 minutes to talk to a supervisor about reviewing the tapes to prove I'm not lying and get my money back for months.

Once the claim went in, the contractor came out within two days and did a good job. Everything went smoothly. The tech knew exactly what the problem was and he addressed it. He ordered the proper parts and came back with them two days later. When the parts came in, he gave me a call back and made an appointment, then he came out and took care of the issue. The repair cleared the problem and I was very satisfied with my experience.

I had a bad experience the first time I used AHS. He was a young fellow who had no experience. I hope AHS refunds me the money I wasted on that deal. I had to spend another $75 and get the right guy, and I felt bad that I had to, but then his work was absolutely the best. He was a more experienced fellow who knew exactly what he was doing and I had confidence right from the get-go. And he fixed the heater within 10 minutes. It’s just lighting the pilot light and making sure that it stayed on. There was some issues with some leakage he repaired and did a great job. I was really happy. They told me exactly what was wrong and fixed it right away, then cleaned up after themselves. It was so nice knowing that, for 75 bucks, I can call AHS and their contractor can come out and fix the issue. You can’t get any contractor out there for that little. It’s gonna be a 70 or $80 service fee and then they're gonna crack you for parts and time. So, the warranty is worth having.

I submitted a claim when my heater was going off and on. I could hear it kicking off and on. The guy came out and said that it was my thermostat. But a week later, the thermostat went blank. It didn't do anything. So I did another claim with American Home Shield. The tech told me step-by-step what they were gonna do on both occasions. I had two different people come out. The first tech assumed that something was wrong with the thermostat, but there was nothing wrong with it. He stayed about 10 minutes, did something to the thermostat, and the heater came back on. But a couple days later, the heater went off again. But this time, the heater and the thermostat went off. The transformer had gone out in the heater.
The tech from the company that American Home Shield sent out for my water heater in September did not hesitate and he brought a new water heater and swapped it out. He didn't try to fix it. He said it had been worked on too much. It was rusting out. That was the first time I had an amazing experience with American Home Shield. They did not allow somebody to come out and patch something up. Prior to that, I’ve had horrific experiences with American Home Shield sending people out that wanted to work on the hot water heater, when the hot water heater costs less than $500, and then, they bill 4000. There were also instances where the contractors keep coming out to fix something that was broken and I had to keep paying my $125 deductible, and they were just patching it in. Then the same thing happens, and then they do the patching, and the same thing happens. I was really close to dropping the whole claim.
For my air conditioner system, somebody came out and did something where it lasted summer. But prior to that, my air conditioner system was worked on several times last year. But with the amount being billed to American Home Shield, it could have been replaced. I had a problem with that because that was not just their money, it was my money too. I told them that with the premium and the deductible that I pay, I could’ve saved that money, went in my pocket, and purchased a new unit myself. It was ridiculous. I didn't understand. American Home Shield had been doing a really bad job in the past. I have a bucket of complaints. But it’s the catch 21. You live with it or without it. And I decided I can’t live without it.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Patricia. I will contact you to make sure your issue was resolved. I look forward to speaking with you.

I put in a service which is a promotion with American Home Shield to do preventative maintenance. It’s a regular service call outside the warranty, so I paid $150. It was $75 for each of my units to be serviced. When the company came out, Hospitality Heating and Air Conditioning, they didn’t see anything wrong with the unit up top. They found an issue with the unit in the basement, and they recommended I call American Home Shield and put in a service call. I did that.
When the representative from Hospitality came out initially, he was very nice and started the service. However, he started working on the wrong unit. When he came, I told him the two units weren’t right next to each other. I said, “Do you want me to turn the unit on upstairs so you can note not to bother that one and work on the one downstairs?” He said, “No. I got it. I know which one it is.” After about 45 minutes of him working on the wrong unit, he finally realized it. He’s like, “I may have a lot of bad news. It’s not getting any power.” I told him, “We’re in the summer. So, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” And he went through the troubleshooting process just to discover the whole time he was working on the wrong unit because he finally listened to what I said and turned on the one upstairs.
So, he said, “My fault. I was messing with the wrong unit.” Now, he dealt with the bottom unit and discovered the issue about the coil being broken or weakened. No problem. So, he put the ticket in and he left. Well, 30 minutes after he left, my heat from upstairs is constantly blowing. At this time, it’s warm outside. It was like 80 degrees outside. So, it was burning up in my house. If you go to the thermostat, it said it was off. So, I was panicking. I’m here by myself with my children, and I sent an email to American Home Shield. I also called up the number I have for Hospitality Heating and Air. I, in fact, wound up calling twice.
The third time I called, the answering service came on. They informed me that Mr. Anthony ** was actually the one on call that night and he would call me back. That was at about a little after 6:00. I had the exact times written down. Then after that, he did not call. It was 9 o’clock and I was still waiting. I was worried about my bill at that point going up. And then it was so hot. I had the doors and the windows open. So, I called back at 9:00 and the lady took the message again. The answering service didn’t understand why he didn’t call. No one ever called back for anything.
In the meantime, my fiancé came home and he turned the breaker off. I didn’t think about it earlier. I should have. But that was the only way he could shut the unit down. So finally, the next morning, someone from Hospitality had called me. Jesse, one of the managers, informed me that the answering service gave the wrong information because her company don’t respond to American Home Shield customers after hours. So, I said, “Well, this is the company that came out through American Home Shield. I have my unit serviced every single year. I have all my records. So, I’m assuming nothing’s wrong with either one of the units during the regular service call.
I have documentations showing nothing was wrong with the unit, but the technician was working on it for 30 to 45 minutes. So, I told her that. And she went to say they don’t service American Home Shield customers after hours so she has to correct the answering service and they gave the wrong information, and that they couldn’t assure me when they’d be coming up. I said, “Well, at this point, I’m not confident with your technician because he caused this problem and then he was not responsive when I called him back.” When he initially came out, he called and said, “I’m over to do the job. I’m their personnel." He let me know he was on the way. So, I called back the same number and he was not responsive. And I felt like he handled the situation wrongly. The rep said, “Well, that’s not our policy. We would send the same technician out to resolve this issue.”
So, I felt like I was in a position where I didn’t have assurance. My fiance met him out here because I don’t know about the system. And he diagnosed another problem with the system upstairs, which I could not understand because he must have caused the problem. They previously checked it, didn’t see a problem with the system, and it was working fine. So now, they left. Supposedly, he fixed the issues. He sent the bill to American Home Shield. It was $154 and that was the end of the top unit.
So now, we get to the bottom unit and American Home Shield will cover the part and labor. But evidently, I’ve an older unit and Hospitality is requiring me to use some upgrades to meet the code, which I understand. But the out-of-pocket cost for me is $2,300, which I do not have. So, I explored other options with American Home Shield and they were saying like cash in lieu would be an option. And I just got off the phone with them. So now, I’m looking for another service provider to just fix the issues so I can get some heat and not worry about the upgrade that this other company is requiring to meet the code. I have the confidence when I bought the home that everything has been fixed.
As far as American Home Shield, I’m not satisfied with their service. They have poor customer service. They don’t wanna give you anything in writing, which a lot of this stuff I don’t understand, so I like to look things up and research. And if I’m trying to find another builder or provider to help me, and I need to be able to communicate with them in their language so they could understand what’s wrong with the unit. So, I’d like to have it in writing. They don’t wanna send me anything in writing. And I wanna make sure that whatever credit is due to me with another provider coming in is attached appropriately.
The young lady I spoke with claimed that she’d get somebody to send me an email of my covered items. But she never confirmed that they will send me anything in writing concerning the covered items. She just was verbally telling me the heat pump was included, the parts and labor is covered under the warranty, and that was all she kept saying. And so, the amount that they offered was $1,200. I said, “But currently, I wanna see if possibly I can do it through another provider to repair it for that amount.” She said probably not because with their service providers, apparently they have a wholesale discounted prices and they have agreements and so forth, which I think is unfair to me as a customer if I’m trying to get the service done by another provider. They should give me a fair amount.
This unit’s not fixed and they didn’t apply the credit yet. But I don’t really appreciate the way they have chosen to handle it. I don't understand. And furthermore, I had to call several times to even get a cash in lieu offer. The previous time I called, they said they don’t have no record of the request. And in the meantime, I’m sitting here without heat.
Tamikah,
I am saddened to hear that your experience with us was not satisfactory. Thank you for speaking with me in an attempt to reach a resolution. Take Care.

The technician that came to rekey our home was fine. He even gave me some recommendations on a couple that are working but may need to be replaced. But I had an AC thing that I'm not sure if it’s completely resolved yet because we’re kinda coming into cooler season, it’s not running as much. AHS sent the contractor out and they needed a compressor. They said the unit needed to be replaced, the old R22 version which really can’t do anymore come January 1.
American Home Shield insisted on replacing the compressor with the current R22, and so I did have some words with them saying that if that’s the case, I’ll just stop the ticket and I’ll call them back in January because they shouldn’t be trying to do that. And they said, “Well, it’s not illegal.” And so, I talked to the contractor and the contractor was like, “They’re not supposed to be making them anymore, but there’s a stockpile to last the next five or 10 years.” So he said, “You probably just gonna have to go ahead and do it because I’m sure there’s nothing gonna come off of it.”
So, I’m pretty disappointed in that. They replaced the compressor, then it froze up and they had to come back out, and so then they had to replace a switch or something in it. And then, it froze up again, so they had to come back out again. And they said that the contact, the other person or the other company from before, wired it backwards when they went to hook it up. So, it's always someone else’s fault when it comes to HVAC. And so now, I’m not 100% sure if it’s working ‘cause it’s not had to cool constantly. It’s just cooled occasionally because the temperature’s kinda dropped down.

The toilet in my rental house backed up, and then we had a really cold spell the next day, so a pipe broke. The whole place was flooded. American Home Shield sent Wright-Jones and they did well. They came right away and fixed the plumbing problem and then the SO-CO came to clean up the mess. The house is an older one with big, cast-iron pipes so they break, and Wright-Jones has been there a lot for those problems. And they've always done a good job.
On my other house, when I called American Home Shield about a ceiling fan, their contractor came out and looked at it. The house has a 20-foot ceiling and the guy said he didn't have a scaffolding high enough to get him up there. He said he would be back but it has been years and I haven't heard from him. I also had a problem with my air conditioning in the newer house, and the air conditioning guys, one of those one guy type of company, took a long time but eventually got the problem fixed.

They told me to expect someone to call me by morning, and they didn’t. I called them 8 o’clock that morning, and they could not come out until a couple of days. And so, I asked the AHS rep to find someone else, and she tried, and she said nobody could come out. Mr. Rooter Plumbing was the soonest they could get. They came out and I was pleased because the contractor did his job. He’s very professional. He told us what was wrong. He told us it’s been a common problem they’ve had with that particular brand of hot water heaters. So, he did not have that part, and their company didn’t allow them to stock that part. He would have to order it, and then he would come in.
Unfortunately, we were leaving for a trip, and it was coming in the day before we got back. But they wouldn’t receive it until the day we got back, so it worked out fine. The next morning, he had us on the list and we were home. We got home that night before he was heading that next morning to put the part in. And I had no problem. The only thing is I didn’t like having to be so long without hot water. My husband and I freaked out because it took us back to the days where we had to boil water to take a bath and to cook. I told them I was considering some other companies, too and I asked if there was any kind of incentive they can offer me for me to sign up with them. The guy said offered one free call. If I have a problem and call them, they won’t charge me the $80. They put it on our credit card, which was when Dan’s Plumbing came. I’ve gotten three emails and I’ve gotten a paper in the mail telling me that we owe them money and that our account is in arrears. And I can’t get through to them at all. I’m very disappointed.
AHS's contractor, Dan’s Plumbing, has always been very nice and comes almost immediately. From the time you submit the claim, you get an email in a matter of five minutes. I submitted a heater claim to American Home Shield. What happened was in the summertime, I got a new air compressor for my air conditioner, and whoever AHS hired to put the thermostat on it didn't connect the wires to the heater so we had no heat for five days. I spoke with an AHS rep about it and he was very informative. A contractor came out and did that but I had to pay $100 out of my pocket, which wasn't fair. The contractor was all right but he didn't tell us exactly what he did nor leave us a receipt. He just said he fixed it and went on. The last guy at least gave us a receipt.
The first day after he left, it was freezing and the house wasn't heating up. And so, my husband put it on emergency heat and we had to use that all night long. I called AHS back and told whoever answered the phone that the heater was not working right. I asked if there was something we did wrong and he said, "I'll have them call you back." But they never did. So we figured it out ourselves. I think the thermostat that he put on is a cheap thermostat.
With AHS, I only added my air conditioner, my heater and plumbing. I didn't add any of my appliances because I still had them on my Sears account. So I called to ask AHS if I could add them and the rep said no, not till our contract is up in April. I said, "What if I drop you right now and turn around tomorrow and re-signed up?" She said, "You could do it that way." I said, "Really?" I'm thinking about trying the Amazon Prime home shield after my AHS contract is over.

I submitted a claim to AHS because my water heater went out. I called them and the rep was excellent. I didn't like the people that they sent out though. The contractor didn't tell the truth. He said that my hot water was 16 years old and that he needed to replace the wiring. And the house was just built in 2013, so I tried to explain to them, "How did he put on there 16 years and the house was built in 2013?" I just needed a replacement, I didn't need any rewiring, upgrade or all the extra stuff which they wanted to charge me $1,300 for. So I got another plumber. It was cheaper and I didn't need to pay $75 deductible to recommend a plumber that's gonna rip me off.

I got them as a gift when I bought my house 14 years ago, but it got too expensive for me and I went with another company but this other company was crappy and left me in a lurch with a couple of broken things that I was not happy about. I got American Home Shield back about a year ago or less. I love that if they can't fix a thing, they replace it 'cause the other company didn’t. AHS' representatives were very efficient and helpful too. The contractors were okay. BluePoint Pool Service, who came recently was wonderful. They were in and out in an hour.

I've been an AHS customer for a long time and they called me to renew. I told them that I wasn’t happy with a service that I had last year for our dryer, which is still not right. They said they would offer me $100 credit if I renewed and I said okay. Then I had my AC repaired and they wanted me to pay before they came, which is how they've always done it. I told them that I have a credit. The one biggest problem is that the people you talk to are in Malaysia and can’t understand you. They said that I have credit and don't have to pay.
Next thing I know, I get an email saying that I’m delinquent. It took me hours on the phone to get it resolved and everybody I talked to was across the pond. They kept saying that I don’t have a credit and I say that I do. Finally, they said that I had credit and that they'd generate the form. But they never did. Then, finally, I ended up talking to somebody in America, a renewal supervisor, who could understand what I was talking about and had the ability to take care of the issue. He sent me an email saying I had a credit. He was great and followed up with me. If I hadn’t forced the issue, I would not have gotten the credit and I would have to pay the 100 bucks. By the time it was all done, it took about six hours. If you say you’re gonna do something, then do it and don’t make me waste my time for hours.
Paul,

When I had my electricity in the living room go out, we had an electrical company come. I didn’t have to pay for anything extra. The guy figured it out what it was quickly. I had two outlets that had gone dead and he replaced them, put in a new fuse, and it was ready to go. I also wanted to have the furnace checked before the winter set in completely. Watters Heat & Air came out and checked to make sure that the burners and igniter were clean and clear. They had to clean it and they made sure I had my filter changed – which I had a new filter there for them to put in. They checked the whole unit over and made sure it was ready to go for the winter.

It was a relatively new home when I purchased it. It's nine years old. The inspection was great when we were going through the buying process. Then, we've been in the house for less than a month and we've had three warranty claims. So, American Home Shield pays for itself very quickly. One of our repairs would've exceeded the price of the warranty, and now we're up to doubling the price of the warranty so, it was a no-brainer to go with it.
The kitchen sink was leaking into the cupboard underneath it and I did the claim online to AHS. I prefer it that way because it’s faster and it's what I’ve done in the past. They’re good about responding but it is limited as far as what I can request. If there was an issue with my regulator valve such as a pressure valve, there's no option on their website to select that. So, I had to check down something that wasn't right and when the technician came out, they said that it was not what I said. I said that it was the only thing I could check. Air Pro Master was able to fix the issue. They were timely and professional. The plumber that I've had every time AHS has sent out someone is great and I like working with him. He's very friendly and gives me a heads-up before he comes over. I'm very pleased with him.

When I called AHS back, they sent out the people from the furnace company and they said that something in the furnace was going bad and need to be replaced. I was given a thorough understanding of what was going on better than the person that did the checkup. So far, the furnace part has not been replaced yet. The tank on my water heater had burst. I was able to prevent further damages by turning off the water. And there was some water there on the floor, which was how we were able to tell. But, I was glad that we were able to get that fixed. AHS's claims process has always been simple when you do an online claim. It's a lot more convenient. It's just instant clicking and then, you can describe the problem. And if they have any questions, they always call me, which makes it faster. We've had several instances with AHS making claims, but this time was much, much better because the company contacted us in a timely manner, which made the experience nice, especially with hot water involved.
AHS's contractor, A1 Plumbing, scheduled me a day but I had to change the date because an unexpected event came up. But at the last minute, they were able to work with me. They were a really professional and courteous company. They minimized any staining on the carpet. They were taking the proper steps and always thinking ahead. They wanted to make sure it was done right. So far, everything is working very well. A prior AC claim took over a week but this one was so simple. I just called AHS, their contractor fixed it and we were ready to roll, and I've been telling people about it.

We bought a house and it was one of those with no agent involved. I looked at the place over and thought that I needed a warranty so I bought from AHS. I also thought that the first thing that could happen is a change in living habits sometimes causes problems. The house is in a rural area so we didn’t have a city sewer but there's a septic. We had water coming up out of the ground so I called AHS and made my first claim. I told them about it and the warranty folks said that they’d send somebody out.
Drain Masters was then set up to come by out of Fort Smith so the people came out, looked it over, and assessed the situation. They determined that I needed a new pump and a couple other things. They showed up on two separate occasions to take care and finish the job. They cleaned out and put a new pump in. They did a great job and I was very happy with them. Everything is working perfect now and the warranty has paid for itself with this one claim. So, I'm very satisfied.

I had a stove glass door that was shattered and a microwave that wasn't working. I called Home Shield, and I'm glad I called because it made such a difference to be able to understand. What I did was, I got a renewal of my policy of how it was gonna change in December, and the rep was able to explain that to me. I know I should have read my thing, but I didn't realize I was gonna have to come out of pocket $75 for the service call. And so, the rep kindly walked me through that. I appreciated figuring it out and not trying to figure it out on my own and make a mistake or not know what I was doing or try to figure out how to do both the microwave and the stove. I appreciated the representative. We were able to make the call.
I've heard horror stories from people who have used Home Shield, but it depends on the state and who they hire to do the work in that state because I was very happy with Green Appliances. And then, my husband was there when the other company replaced the microwave, which went wonderful. My husband said they did a great job. They knew what they were doing. They put it in the new microwave quickly. I was really pleased.

The claim I filed with American Home Shield about my AC is still going on. It’s taking them some time to figure out what the issue was. But American Home Shield has covered every visit. There has not been any additional cost. When I called American Home Shield, Texas Best Heating and Air Conditioning came out within three hours, which was really fast, but they had problems in isolating the problem. They initially thought there was something on the panel that they could solder together and fix it. They tried that a couple of times and each time, it didn’t hold. It would work initially, and then it would quit working. And now, they’ve ordered a new board and it’s to be installed tomorrow. So, I’m hoping it will be repaired tomorrow. Fortunately, it’s not cold in Fort Worth yet so I don’t think it’ll be a major problem.
I also had a refrigerator repaired a month ago and AHS ended up replacing my entire refrigerator. When I called about it, I told them what was wrong and they asked if there was any other problem, because every time you call in, it’s a $100 fee. They said if I reported more than one problem at the same time, it would still only be $100 fee. There wouldn’t be $100 for each item. When they said that, I told them that my washing machine is giving me some problems too. And they said they'd check on both of them.
They sent out one repairman for the washing machine and he fixed it quickly. They also sent out a repairman for the refrigerator, and he at first thought he fixed it. But the next day, the entire refrigerator quit working. It started out when the refrigerator was working fine and my icemaker wouldn’t work. Suddenly, when he tried to repair the icemaker, the entire refrigerator went out. And so, I had to call back and they authorized the guy to come out again. And then, they tried to charge me a second $100 and I complained because it wasn’t my fault that the guy couldn’t fix the refrigerator. They understood and they only charged me one $100 fee. It turned out the whole motherboard in my refrigerator needed to be replaced.
They authorized a new refrigerator and that process was extremely easy. They sent me an email with pictures and descriptions of all refrigerators and asked me to pick one that I like. They suggested one which they felt was the best buy and it was actually the best one for me. It’s a French door refrigerator freezer with icemaker and dispenser, and the same size as my previous one. So, I ended up with a new $1,700 refrigerator. I went out and I priced them at a couple of stores before I agreed, and their prices were right around the local stores that had a similar refrigerator. So, I could either take the cash or take the refrigerator, and I just chose the refrigerator, which was cheaper. Because if I took the cash, I would still have to pay for delivery and installation fees. If just I choose a ref, everything was covered and the refrigerator was what I wanted. So, it was a win-win as far as I was concerned.
I’ve had AHS send a contractor out January this year to fix the dryer and they fixed the problem for that. And then the second time, they fixed the washing machine and the refrigerator. And now, my heater. Right now, I’m very pleased with AHS. I’m getting my money’s worth. I’ve had them before in the past, years and years ago, and I wasn’t always as pleased when it came to an air conditioner. But that’s really big money. And those kinds of insurance plans give you more trouble for it in your central air in Texas because it gets hot. But this time, I can’t really complain about them. I’ve been happy.
For the refrigerator, I had to wait three days for a repairman to come out and a couple of days for the washing machine, but that’s to be expected. The whole refrigerator business took a couple of weeks because the repairman kept trying to fix it. But fortunately, I had another refrigerator in the garage, a 25-year-old refrigerator. The repairman said it’ll probably never die. The kiss of death for my other refrigerator was when he said, “This newer one in your kitchen will probably die before that older one does outside.” Sure enough, the next day it did. But it’s okay.
The only problem I had with American Home Shield on the ref claim was the repairman was trying to order the motherboard. After a week, I called him and he said, “Well, it’s still not in. I’m trying to find it.” After another week, I called him again and he didn’t return my phone call. Finally, I called AHS and they checked and said, “You’ve been approved for a new refrigerator.” AHS nor the repairman didn’t tell me about it. After that, the process went smoothly. It’s a good ref and it’s working well. Right now, I’m very happy with American Home Shield and I would recommend them.

I had a pump placed on my swimming pool, and then when they put the pump back in, it leaked, so they had to come out and fix the pipe from the pool motor to the ground. Everything is fine. They were such nice people and prompt. I can’t say enough for them. But AHS has been lousy with their communication. I’ve got another claim with them and it was a plumbing line that was backed up. Boss Plumbing came out and said that the line is ruptured, and it's gonna have to be repaired. AHS said to go ahead and do it. And then Boss Plumbing came out a second time, and said, “We’re gonna try a high-pressure line to just blow it off.” They did and said, “We’re just gonna cancel our claim and not do anything because it’s working now.” Two days later it started gurgling again. So I turned to my homeowners insurance company. They came out and looked at it, and said, “Yup. We camerad it. You got two different breaks within five feet of each other.”
Boss Plumbing told us that we’re gonna get about $1,500 from the warranty company, and that was either limited to their liability. I’ve been going back and forth, and I haven’t gotten a straight answer from anybody down there. I’m waiting on when I’m gonna get a check and for how much. I need to have that done, because I’ve got the $3,000 deductible on the property. If I can just get that resolved, I’m gonna be a happy camper. It’s been two months now, so that’s been a little long. But overall, I’m very happy with American Home Shield. I have recommend them to other people.

If you expect American Home Shield to replace your air conditioner forget it. We had an 18 year old air conditioning system that failed in August in Las Vegas. We have been with AHS for at least 15 years. When one of our two 4 ton AC's broke down they sent someone out the next day. He said we need a new compressor We said okay. The next day AHS called and said the compressor would not be covered because it was installed improperly. We bought this house from the builder over 18 years ago and have had little or no trouble with the two units. How bad could the installation have been if it ran for 18 years in the Las Vegas heat.
Since it was 110 degrees we didn't even wait for the second opinion as we were two senior citizens in a house that got up to 90 degrees. We went ahead and replaced the air conditioner as we couldn't be in the house for any more time with the weather conditions. I guess if we collapsed our child would have sued American Home Shield. So again if you are thinking of getting a AHS contract forget about it ever covering your Air Conditioner if it needs to be replaced.

The contractor thought he needed a work order to even step foot on my property, which American Home Shield sent out
AFTER the third time I called them to say that there was a misunderstanding on their part. They were also passive aggressive when I told them that I was frustrated that the process was taking so long and that I had waited almost two months for one service to complete and that I didn't think it was fair that they charge me for a second service. I ask the two supervisors to pull the call and guess what I have not heard back from them for months.
I call customer service a few times (which is outsourced) and they keep asking me to tell the same story I have told the two supervisors. I ask the outsourced customer service reps to be transferred to the supervisors I spoke to or the their manager and I’m told they can’t, but they will send them an email. No one still won’t call. I then ask for email address for complains, they don’t have one is what I’m told, I was then given an address to mail my complaint to (don’t trust they will admit they received it). On 9/8/19 I paid American Home Shield $133.75 for a service request for my refrigerator, the technician came and said he needs to change the fridge door it has to be ordered and it will take from 4 to 6 weeks, I waited patiently having to spend extra money in food to feed my family, since my kids can't open the fridge to get food.
I called the technician after 4 weeks for an update, the hold time is over 50 minutes. I waited until the calls just disconnected itself. Out of desperation on 10/17/19 I informed America Home Shield that I don't have anything back from the technician, American Home Shield never returned my call, then on 10/21/19 I called America Home Shield, the customer service lady was able to speak with the technician and he informed her that they don't have any door or record of a door ordered for my fridge, then she offered a "cash-out": that is giving me the money to find and pay another technician my self.
Really? Evidently the American Home Shield cant fix my fridge, when I paid in full my contract I was offered a home warranty that fix or replace my appliances no one said anything about "cash-out" or wait over 6 weeks and still don't fix my fridge or don't have any intention to fix it. As a customer, you are at a complete disadvantage. Their solution to a no-show by their vendor (having missed a day of work for no reason) is to book another appointment with that same vendor. Multiple no-shows makes no difference. Hundreds of one star ratings for that vendor makes no difference. He's been very helpful and supporting us. When I got a call from Alex and he told me that there was something wrong with the appliance, I made the call to AHS. Mr. Appliance of North Modesto came out and Alex interfaced with the guy. The guy contacted me and told me what his schedule was and I gave him my grandson's telephone number and they coordinated it. And according to what Alex told me, everything went really smoothly and everything got taken care of. Mr. Appliance gave a window of time when they could be there. And what the guy did was he called Alex when he was getting ready to go to the house. So Alex didn't have to spend hours and hours waiting for him to show up.
I have a friend who had American Home Shield, and then he went to some cheaper company. And he was completely dissatisfied with their service. So far, American Home Shield has done right to us. They run a very good organization. I appreciate timeliness and in fact, my home here in Wilsonville has some problem with the appliance. I opened up another repair ticket for this KitchenAid thing I have here in the house. And I was contacted within 24 hours by the people who are gonna make the repair.

My refrigerator wasn’t working and I made the claim on the American Home Shield website, which was easy to use. They told me to expect the contractors out in 48 hours. The gentleman came and ordered the parts, and he fixed it two days later. He did what he needed to do, he cleaned everything out and was very professional. I would definitely call them again. Now the refrigerator is like brand new.

When our dishwasher was leaking, I went online to submit a claim for the repair. AHS sent a service repair out but they were unable to repair it, so we went to getting a replacement. The repairman submitted whatever he needed to on his end so that AHS would know the dishwasher was irreparable and that we needed to do the replacement. I called AHS to speak with them about the replacement and the reps I spoke with were thorough. We took the cash-out option so that we could just go and purchase the dishwasher we wanted and the company we purchased it from are just gonna do the install. So, we're paying a little more out-of-pocket than what they'll provide, which is totally fine, but it's getting in quickly. Our new dishwasher is coming this week.
I've been an AHS customer for 15 months and the contractor that was sent have been out here for a couple of different appliances and they've always been really good with explaining what's going on and giving us as much information that they know, like how the process works with AHS. Overall, I had a good experience. We haven’t received the refund yet, but I'm confident that I followed the instructions they gave me, so I'm sure I'm gonna get it.

My air conditioner went out and I called American Home Shield to get it replaced. The reps paid half attention sometimes. They told us one problem wasn't covered and then, we came to find out it was covered. They lied to us more than once. They said one company said it happened a long time ago and they didn't, and we went the entire summer without an air conditioner. Now that it has been fixed, it works just fine. The first two contractors were okay but the last one was the worst one. They never called back nor contacted us. American Home Shield couldn't even get in contact with them. I liked the contractors that came out but I don't like American Home Shield and I was very dissatisfied. We'll never do it again.

American Home Shield sent Discount for my ice maker and the guy that came out was really professional. He went through everything and explained what was going on. He told me what to watch for in the next week or two to see. Now, it’s still leaking and this has definitely affected my house. I live in Southeast Texas and it’s warm out here and we need ice.
I thought that all the appliances in my house were covered through AHS but the air conditioner and heater in the garage isn't. The appliance came with the house and I was upset because I asked them if it would be covered when I bought the thing, and they told me yes. Still, the warranty is worth it, especially if you have an appliance in your house that’s not cheap.

I had two experiences with American Home Shield. One was a good experience and one was a bad experience. The good experience was there was a heater-air conditioning split unit that needed to be replaced. And the first contractor that came out gave the diagnosis of it not being able to be replaced. American Home Shield had a second opinion. They came out and, again, they had said that it needed full replacement and they approved it for replacement.
Speaking with a representative at AHS is awful. I go online and submit everything online. The representatives don’t understand the words I'm saying and that’s happened every time I’ve called. They say, “We’ll call you back or we’ll take care of it”, and nothing ever happens and they know it because they don’t understand a word I'm saying. I don’t have that same experience online and it’s not the same group of people that do it through the chat. So, I will wait and I don’t care if I have to wait days for those people show up for the online chat, it’s much easier to even ask if something’s covered, to do the online chat versus to try to get it resolved by phone.
We had one claim recently and that’s still not resolved. The contractor came to the house high, like on drugs. So, I’m trying to get it done, to assign it to a different provider. He also made it worse. The problem was just something minor, like a sink leaking, and he took the faucet knobs and made them backwards. So, it went from a small little leak to now, I have a backward faucet. Their response was, "We have to give them an opportunity to correct it,” which is fine. But then, they just never got back to me. I kept calling. Then that ended up like it’s getting really annoying. So then, I just opened a new ticket.
What sucks about that is I have to pay another $75 when you open a new ticket. But then, they’ll assign that same provider. And when I’ve asked them, “Can you just assign a different provider ‘cause this is my experience with them.” They said they couldn’t do that. So now, I keep going in and canceling the ticket and re-opening the ticket every day to try to get it assigned to a different provider.
I gotta go in there again today, and then every time I do that, it charges my credit card, so I make sure I get a credit for that $75. I know that sounds awful, but I can’t have him come back out. It’s been ongoing for months and I’ve already had to pay another $75. So, I don’t want them to send out the same guy. And my husband asked them if they could just send out somebody else but they never got back to us at all. They can’t control the guy coming out. I hope they could just reassign it to somebody else if you don’t want that provider to come in your home anymore. But overall, AHS has been very helpful.

American Home Shield made it simple to submit a claim. I call them, and most of the time I just go through it automated, then sometimes I speak with their very competent and polite reps. I submitted a claim because my washer wasn’t draining, but the washer wasn’t the issue. Their contractor snaked the pipe and pulled out soil debris from it, but when I used the washer again, the same thing happened. I had water over and there was a big mess. A day later, another gentleman came out and he told me that roots have grown into the pipeline, about 25 ft. out from the house. I have a shed sitting over that pipe. It's not covered by Home Shield, and it’s going to be a very expensive fix, so I’m not gonna do that. I just had my washer rigged so that it drains in another way. Other than that, I’ve used AHS for my garage door opener, my AC and my water heater. I definitely got my money’s worth, and I’ll be doing it again next year.

The air conditioning quit working in the house. I initially submitted the first claim online and when the first contractor was assigned to my job, they couldn’t get out for four days. It is a rental property, so I needed to get it fixed for my tenant. We live in the south, so it was hot. I called American Home Shield and a really nice guy that I talked to called around and was able to find a contractor that could get out the same day.
The contractor came out late that afternoon. There was horrible traffic around town so they were late. They called back the next day to get my credit card info to charge me for the extra Freon that wasn’t covered with AHS, and gave me a discount because they did run so late they missed their window by 30 or 45 minutes. This particular experience was great. I had some plumbing issues that they had sent out a couple different plumbers that didn’t really seem up to snuff. But, overall, my experience was okay. If someone would ask about American Home Shield, I'd tell them it’s worth it depending on your situation and what the house is like. It can be worth the money.

When I called American Home Shield for the dishwasher and the microwave, I got a $100 trip charge. Two different servicemen came and corrected the problem, which was wonderful. Then I called for the electric and the plumbing. For the plumbing, the contractor worked on my kitchen faucet three times but it still leaked. They also worked on my bathroom shower three times and it always leaked. The plumber put new knobs on the shower and fixed it. It’s fine now, but the kitchen faucet dripped more after he fixed it. I said that I was told I needed a new faucet. He said okay but he had to get authorization. Then someone came and put a new faucet on.
On the electric, I had three issues- the GFI switch, the smoke alarm, and the ceiling fan. The guy that AHS gave me, Jim, talked to me on the phone and said, “We can’t do manufactured houses. My liability doesn’t cover it.” I said okay and I called American Home Shield. I said that Jim couldn't do it and asked them to send me somebody else. I got four emails saying that Jim, the same guy, was gonna come. Then I got a call from Jim and he said that he'd come over and look at the problem. Three of them came into my house and looked at the switch on the wall. I’ve never seen somebody bring three men in somebody’s house just to fix small electrical problems. There was him, the owner, and two men in their 20s and I didn’t appreciate that at all.
Jim said he couldn't touch the switch because the wall was gonna fall apart. I said to forget it. Then he replaced the GFI switch in the bathroom. Then he took the fan down and he said, “I can’t put a fan up there. My liability won’t cover it.” Then why did he take it down? He said that he can’t put a new one up because I don’t have a light on the top to hold it. I said that I’ve been here 11 years and had a fan in every room, and none have ever fallen down. He put the old one back up and said he couldn’t fix it. Then all he needed to do with the smoke alarm was to plug it in and then he left.
I called AHS and said that Jim did such and such, but could not do the fan and that I needed the fan fixed. The rep said he'd see who else they could get to come out. I asked if I get one trip charge and he said yes. I got a call from J.E.M. Electric. The tech came and got authorization first. He then put a new ceiling fan in. It works fine now and it’s not gonna fall down.
AHS took 100 for the small appliances, 100 for the electric, and 100 for the plumber and that was supposed to be it. But I got three invoices from Jim. They’re all for the same date but each invoice was $100. I don’t know what his problem is and I would never have Jim in my house again. He couldn’t even fix the problem. He told me he couldn’t fix it before he even came so, why come?
I’ve been with AHS in Florida, New York, and in Arizona for 15 years and now, I keep getting invoices, which I had never gotten from them. I’m also getting texts from them saying my account is in serious arrears. I had the work done in October, but he now needs to tell me that I didn’t pay? I have paid completely. I have good credit and they always take out the $100 when they provide service. It has never been a problem, but now, they’re sending me these letters like I’m in bad credit after all these years and I don’t appreciate that.
I called AHS yesterday and I explained the situation to the rep. She said I still owe $100. And I said that I didn't. She said that one of the representatives put the claim on the electric in singly instead of all on the same thing. She couldn’t help me and said she had to escalate it, send it to the higher-ups and let them review it. She said that they will call me back between 24 and 48 hours and to call again if they don’t.
I really hope American Home Shield corrects this problem because I’m really discouraged now. This has really disturbed me because it hasn’t been resolved yet. I’m waiting for them to tell me that I don’t owe the bill. They’ve taken $300 and that was what they were supposed to take. I am very unhappy with them. When they come up on the internet, I used to always put in a comment that I’ve always been satisfied with them, but not anymore.
Marianne,
I am sorry to hear that we have not provided a suitable resolution at this time. Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

I called an AHS rep when my oven went out and they answered the phone quickly. At first, they sent a technician to see if they could fix it but the part that they needed was no longer being made because it was so old. So, AHS replaced my oven. There was one part of a contractor’s call that they told me that the item was gonna be replaced. And then, AHS sent me stuff via email to let me decide whether to take the replacement or take the cash option. That was very easy to understand. And when the oven came, the contractor contacted me and it didn't take a long time for them to schedule a time. The contractors that came and installed the unit were very nice. However, I called and paid an electrician to put the oven in because they said my house needed to be rewired, and it didn't. The electrician said that the contractor could have just took the cap off and plugged it in, but they didn't. But that was the only thing that I have to pay.
I had been an AHS customer for 15 years the first. But before I switched, there was a clog in my plumbing line, which caused my washer to flood. My tub and toilets weren't working, and I had an elderly person and children. And holding for 45 minutes to an hour, when I’m trying to get the water to stop, was just not acceptable. I needed some help so I left. But this time, they answered the phone, and the service was prompt and good. I tried another company before and they were horrible. So, I decided to go back with American Home Shield. When I called just to see if the wait was still long and I got right through, I switched back because their service has always been good and I've always liked it. I was gone for about a year. And now, I've been with AHS for two months now. Overall, AHS service is great.

My dishwasher wasn’t drying the dishes as well as my tenant would have liked and there was a bad smell. I contacted Home Shield and set up the appointment, and their contractor went out there and went through the whole system and said everything was working fine, and that the dishwasher was not equipped with a heating element for drying the dishes, which I was surprised at. I contacted my tenants and asked them how competent the gentleman seemed that came to do the service and how professional he was, and they were extremely pleased with the way he approached everything with them.
For three years that I've had AHS, that was the first time I’ve ever had to submit a claim to them. I went online and the process was simple and straightforward. Communication was good over email as far as what was going on back-and-forth. It seemed to be a really smooth. I was gonna call them because I have it set for automatic payment and the payment has gone up. I don’t know if they raise their rate if you file a claim or not. But I know that my monthly payment has gone up. So, I need to backtrack and look at that a bit and see what exactly is going on with that.
So far, everything went really, really smooth. My tenant said that everything was done in a timely fashion. They showed up for the appointment on time and they explained everything real thoroughly to them, and they weren’t left wondering things. So, the whole experience was great on both ends, mine and my tenants’, so I’m super happy about that.

The process wasn’t too bad except for trying to get my credit card together before the message thing timed out on me. American Home Shield just gave me a live person to complete the process. Advanced Home Services looked at the heater and they were like, “You need a new one.” We just had to wait for the claim to go through. The heater went out on a Tuesday and we had a new one by Friday. The contractors who came were quick and professional. They came out once to order the parts, but it was about two weeks before one of the parts came in, which was quite a while. And there wasn't much contact in that time. They repaired the issues and unfortunately, since then, there has been a flood in my entire house. I don't know necessarily if it was directly related to the repair of the dishwasher, but right now my entire house is gutted because of the flood.

So, I decided to go back with AHS last year. I was using a heating and cooling unit here, but they were a little high. I'd rather use AHS and pay the money. At least they knew what they were doing. But I didn't like the heating and cooling unit that AHS sent out. The tech just messed around with stuff. I asked him if he was gonna change my filter and he said that he didn't think that he was supposed to do that. The filter has always been changed during the pre-season check. So I told him that I had a filter and all he needed to do was to change it. He finally changed it. I don't want him again, but everybody else has been great.
I've been submitting claims with American Home Shield online and their website is pretty user-friendly. I have every one of my family that’s already bought AHS. I haven’t had it quite a year and I had used it twice. 50 percent of my claims were above and beyond wonderful. So, I’m gonna keep the policy. I’ve been very pleased with it, and I recommend it to anybody. It’s extremely easy putting a claim in. I go online and fill it out in less than 60 seconds, and then within 24 hours, someone calls to make an appointment with me to come out and diagnose it.
I had a dishwasher issue and A-Appliance Service fixed it very quickly. The serviceman was above and beyond. He said what the problem was, what was needed to be done and that he would have to order the part and be back in five to seven days. I travel a lot. So, I was gonna be out of town and was not gonna be here in those days. We would had to have put it off much in the future. He said he would see if he could find that part in town and get it to me before I go out of town, and he did. He left early and he did everything he said, and it was beyond convenient. In the past, I didn't think the service providers were exactly top-notch. I had a claim on a refrigerator, and the service provider didn’t care about my time, like any convenience for me with work or they could just care less, and I just had to work with them. And that was a little unimpressive. But all in all, the claim came out good and I was very satisfied in the end.

We submitted work request with AHS for the garbage disposal online because it was leaking under the sink. The website is relatively user-friendly. It’s not challenging. AHS usually tells us they will contact within 24 hours as long as it’s like a regular business day. For the majority of the time they do. But a couple of times we’ve had to follow-up, and there’s been back and forth.
But we’ve only had one contractor that we weren’t pleased with. We had some kind of sewage smell coming from the water closet. The person who came in was at the house less than four minutes. He walked in and said, “That’s a problem that I can’t fix. It’s not covered.” That was it. He didn't look pleased to be there, nor pleased to see who he was servicing. The last time it took a little while for the contractor to get out, but we submitted on a Friday. So, we had to wait until Monday for them to come. But as far as that experience, we were not dissatisfied in any way.

The line on the outside AC unit was freezing up. The technician from A&R Complete Service that came out was very good. He said he had to replace something and it also required that he replace the coolant as well. He was done in less than two hours and we were extremely happy with the service. It has only been less than a year that I've been with AHS. This was my first experience with American Home Shield and I had a response from them within half an hour. I'm very happy with my AHS experience and I would recommend it to others who are looking for a home warranty.

We had a leak and the contractor came out the first time but I didn’t have time for them to look around because they were a little late. So, we rescheduled and they came back out, and they determined that it was the toilet. It had a crack below it putting about a handful of water out every time that we flushed that was causing a leak into my living room.
I did the claim online and I loved the website but I put notes in there for them to call me because their options are very limited when you request for service. You click “Request Service” and you check “Faucet and Toilet”, but you can’t say what’s happening with it. Once you hit “Submit”, it would tell you that a contractor would be in contact with you. I didn’t hear from somebody for two days and then, I got a call. When the contractor called me to schedule, I had to explain the problem to them but once they were there, we were good to go. They were very proficient with their text messages and their time. I was sent the new toilet but the contractor said putting it on wasn’t part of their services and I had to pay somebody else to come in and put the new toilet on. Still, the experience with AHS was good once we got the process going.

To make a claim at American Home Shield, I just log online to my account and fill out the information and submit. So, it doesn’t take a few minutes. A contractor contacts me usually within 24 hours, if not sooner. It would be better though if they had a space where you could detail what the problem was. Right now, you can only submit a general idea, so then you have to explain it to the person when they contact you. Still, I’ve been happy with everyone so far. I’d definitely recommend to anyone.

In each house I owned, I've always used AHS so I've had them for close to 30 years now. Historically, I really love their service and the way things are taken care of when I call in with a claim. However, this time, particularly on the last one, they're not as user-friendly anymore. The phones ring and ring, but no one answers. Even the contractors couldn't get a hold of them. Also, I've had to do everything online now, which I don’t mind, but sometimes there were certain issues where I needed to speak to a human. And they didn't call me back. They gave me a confirmation number, but I still didn't speak to a human. While the average consumer likes that, we all aren’t millennials. The personal touch of speaking to someone is tops always, and it just wasn’t there.
In my last claim, I got Supreme Plumbing and their communication is very good. I let them know that I was home and if they wanted to come earlier, they were welcome. It worked out great. The guy who came out needed to speak with AHS. But all day, for every call he went on, he said, “They don’t freakin’ answer.” He kept working and the phone just rang. Despite not being able to contact AHS, the guy was very knowledgeable. He realized right away that whoever had done the job before him didn't do it right. He looked and fixed it. While the AHS customer service part sucked, it was a really great experience. I won’t change my mind in staying with them.
Thanks for sharing your feedback as we hope to improve processes for a better customer experience. I apologize for any inconvenience we have caused. We look forward to assisting your future warranty needs. Have a great week.

Everything was good with American Home Shield. The contractor A-1 Appliances did a good job as well. We did have a little trouble where we were originally told that we would only pay one service fee for the appliances because I had two things that were broken at the same time. And then they double charged me, but then they reimbursed me, so it was totally fixed. I was happy that I could do the two for the one price. That was really nice. Everyone was really friendly and helpful like when we had a situation too. They were pretty apologetic and got it fixed. It took a little while and that was the only thing. We had another home warranty that I absolutely hated at my last house, and this one has been much easier to use.

So, we have an outstanding problem now that's just not satisfying itself yet. But in one other time I had a problem, Home Shield sent the person back and that person even told me that the one before them had made the error and they fixed it. We had a positive experience with AHS. We got whatever we wanted. The only thing was we had an issue with the HVAC fan, which got overheated and stopped, and it was not really in a good shape, but they just said that AHS will not let us replace the fan unless it breaks. So, it cooled down after two days. And when I called the person to come look at it, it started working. So, it's an interesting situation where the fan was leaking as it aged. But at the same time, the thing got shut down for two days. I just shut off the HVAC because the fan started working, and when it came, it was all cool. So, when he turned it on, it started working. It was a positive experience in that sense that you got a person to come and do this. But because the coil was leaking, the guy showed up on me on Tuesday and not the next day. But then, the good news was the weather was not crazy, so we were okay after Monday. AHS has been good for us.
Right now, we haven’t seen any problem. But the guy said, “If it fails within a month, you wouldn’t have to pay the co-payment,” but I don’t want it to fail. Overall, I'm very happy because we have used AHS, so far, four times, including my rental property, and all the time, somebody came and they fixed the issue. They also came to our rental property and there was some leak and they put some liquid to seal the leak. So, they worked fine. But the other contractor, the Carolina Air, that company came to our house and those guys were the ones who would not replace the blower fan.

The plumbing took four days including the weekend, and the electrical was 24 hours. I called for the plumbing on Thursday and the contractor didn’t come out till Monday, so we had to sit there with a clogged sink for the whole weekend and a weekday. Ace's Garage Door Repair came out to check my garage door and at first, the guy said, “Oh, the wheel is too old, so we have to replace it.” He also said that the string right on the top of it was old and overheated. So, he replaced the parts and I got a new wheel and a new string. Then he pressed on the button again but something just broke in the middle so I had to have that replaced new too. After that, we still have to really hold the button to press the door down, or even when we try to pull it up, we have to hold the button as it was not moving at all.
Since the door was still not working well, he checked the two lights--one is red and the other one is green--right in the bottom left and right of the door, but they were not the reason the door was not working. So, he continued to check and fix, and I paid a lot. But now, everything is working well. I have had American Home Shield since June and they are doing great. I also had a claim for my AC last time because the fan is locked down, and the girl who came to fix it did it really quick. She took about 15 minutes and the AC is now working great as well.

I usually go online to put in a claim and it works good. They tell you who's gonna be there, and when they're gonna be there. I've had AHS for a year and I was really satisfied with the garage door claim. The guy called me up the same night and they were there the next day. They fixed it perfectly and everything went fine. But for the toilet claim, I was unsatisfied with that.
The handle of the toilet was loose. It had nylon nut on the inside and I was turning it. I tightened it up. I noticed there was a little bitty line there, and I had to mess with it. It got water and then water starting running out. The tank cracked but I didn't break it intentionally. The contractor came and was there for a couple of minutes. They said they would see me later. I asked when and he said he didn't know and I didn't hear anymore from them. I called American Home Shield and they said they would charge me $75 for that. They didn't bother even telling me they weren't gonna fix it, and then that was it. Nobody ever came back. I told them not to come back again. If you're working on your furnace or your hot water heater and something went wrong, you're just stuck.
They didn't tell me they weren't gonna cover it until I looked online and called them up. They said the claim was finished but they didn't fix anything. They said it was denied because I broke it and I was abusing my toilet for trying to take the handle off it. With car insurance, if you accidentally do something to your car, they pay you for it. But if you gotta do something to the toilet, better get your billfold out 'cause it's gonna cost you. Water was running out on the floor and I got it turned off and cleaned it all up. We had to wait five days for them to come in for two minutes, charge me $75, and not fix it. If they weren't gonna do it, they shoulda told me upfront, and I could've fixed it myself over the weekend. I had to go over to Lowe's and pay $236 for a toilet and get it fixed myself. I paid $1,200 for the insurance but American Home Shield left a bad taste in my mouth. I would never ever use them or recommend them again.

I've only had the policy for a year and we had two claims in a row, but I’ve had no problem with both.

I asked American Home Shield for a service call when my water heater was leaking all over my balcony. We then had Air Pro Master and they replaced my water heater. They were 100% excellent and they had great customer service. We had some issues with American Home Shield in the past because of billing, where they asked for money I didn’t owe, but other than that, our experience was pretty good.

The girl who signed me up with American Home Shield was very nice. I chose them because of name recognition and some of the reviews that I read online. Also, having talked to Choice, which is another company, I didn't care for their customer service nor their coverage or their reviews. We've had AHS now for over a year, and two or three weeks ago, my husband called them for the garage door. The guy who was sent out was very good and he did the job.

I prefer to call in claims at American Home Shield, only ‘cause you can hear somebody talking. Recently, the coil in the inside for the heater went bad and it was not heating. Arizona Value Appliance Repair came and they were fantastic.

Family AC Service Solutions was very prompt. They gave me a time to pick to be available and they showed up at the time I picked. I ordered the service on a Sunday and they were here Monday afternoon. I had a stopped up drain line and they opened that up and corrected the problem, and then went ahead and checked my unit to make sure it was operating properly. They went above and beyond what you would expect. They were very professional, clean and courteous. They kept their man on the job and got it done quickly. I have five homes that I've got signed up with American Home Shield, and going through their website is real easy. Either you can put in your customer number or the address and your plan comes right up. It's a great company and they take care of their customers.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for a dryer. The rep that I spoke with gave me an appointment, and the contractor arrived on time the following day. Everything worked well. The guy spent about a couple of hours, found the problem and then fixed it. It was perfect.

The garage door wasn’t going up and down, and it ended up being one of the springs was broken on the door. And when that broke, it threw the tension on the door off and that made the belt that makes the door go up and down come apart. The contracted company came out and the springs on the door had to be replaced, and several things on the door had to be replaced or updated. They checked out the motor, and then they put it back together. The techs were great. They were on time and very knowledgeable. They were very helpful, and they made great recommendations. The garage door is working better than before because they put on new parts on the door to make it even quieter.

The refrigerator was breaking up and dripping on the fuse box outside. My wife called AHS and the lady that she talked to was really nice. 45 minutes later, we got a call from the electrician. He came and checked everything good. And then, he got the fuses and changed them, and we have had no more problems with it. He was very courteous Everything that AHS does is good to go. They have excellent service.

There was water backing up in my basement so I thought one of the lines might have been clogged, which it was. I did my claim with Home Shield online and by this time, I've been with the warranty company for two years. The claims process was easy but I felt like there were a lot of loopholes on what was covered and what was not. It was like a shot in the dark if you were gonna be covered for the work or not. I have an older home with older appliances. If I had newer appliances, I definitely would not have Home Shield. I wouldn't recommend them unless you absolutely have to have a home warranty.
I apologize for any inconveniences that we've caused. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you as I would like to follow up to make sure your issues are resolved.

I had a sewer line that cracked on the main sewer line. I filed a claim to American Home Shield through the phone and my interaction with rep I spoke with was very good. The contractor that came out from Air Squad was very professional and very informative. I was scared the problem was worse than what it was, but he made me feel comfortable. Everything has been operating better than it was before since he's been out. The problem must have been there for a while and we didn't know because we had put a new toilet in about two years ago, and my husband always complained that the toilet was flushing slowly. We had to flush it two or three times to get the waste to go out. And since they fixed that sewer line now, it's like one flush and everything goes away.

I noticed that something wasn’t working a couple of days after I moved in. The knobs on the stove top were stuck in position and would not turn on. The contractor couldn't schedule for a little bit and I wish things could have been quicker, but we’re a little bit more rural and so, we understand. By that time, I figured out the oven didn't work, and then, the panel was somewhat working. It took two visits to get things taken care of because by the time he figured that the oven has shorted out, it has messed up the panel. Then, he realized that by the second visit, somebody went in and tried to fix something, and some of the screws were missing. Some of the stuff were not in place and jumbling around in there, and it was causing the short.
I’m glad I didn't do a survey with the home inspector because one of those things could’ve been caught but you trust that they're gonna go through the whole gamut of the items to make sure it’s functioning well. It was frustrating to not have a stove top and oven for almost a month and a half. We had a barbecue, so we just kinda resorted to that. The contractor was very patient, understanding and he explained everything really well. He was very professional, efficient and good. So, he was awesome. I’d use him again and I'd recommend him too.
Good Morning Marsha,

I filed a claim online with AHS and their process was very easy. Then the contractor, Blue Star Plumbing, called the same day that I made the request. I had to call them back the next day and they came out the following day. They also called me 20 minutes before they got to my house so I could leave work and meet them there. Their service was good, too.

I have a new heating system but there's something faulty with it. I submitted a claim for a repair to American Home Shield and I'm still working with them. The tech they sent got it working on the 28th but then it went out again. The techs came back out that following Friday and said that they would have to reorder a part. The contractor sent all that information in to AHS on the first and yesterday I was contacted and told that the part would be in on Friday. AHS' reps set an appointment for me on Monday. They've been spot on in terms of communicating. I also love that they send text messages to my phone to let me know status updates. Unfortunately, it sucks ‘cause it’s really cold and it’s winter and my heat’s out. Even so, AHS has been excellent in terms of customer service, feedback, just making sure everything’s moving as fast as it can be. I wish they could get the part a little faster but everything else has been great.

We recently had problem with my bathroom where the exhaust fan and the bathroom fixture weren’t working properly, and then my other room’s fan would not function properly as well. I spoke to someone at American Home Shield and they were so professional. The gentleman that was sent out came and he fixed it. They called within 24 hours and the service was fit for my convenience because whenever I was first available, I made the appointment. He was amazing. They came back for a follow-up immediately. Everything is running well now.

American Home Shield was very helpful and was able to get me a local service provider right away. I got a call the next day and if there were any questions or concerns and I needed to call them back, they were very responsive. For the most part, the contractors have been really good. However, when I needed a hot water heater and the inspector came out, he didn’t approve it. And so, when I called the company to come back and fix what didn’t pass inspection, they told me they weren’t responsible for that.
I called American Home Shield and explained what happened. The other company finally came out and corrected the thing that they said they were gonna charge me an extra $100 for the service call. I called American Home Shield back and they said that they would take care of it, so they did a good job of mediating with me and the other company. I was with some family members this weekend and two of them asked for the number of American Home Shield, and said they were gonna go and contact them.

The bracket on the chain that lifts my garage door broke off from the motor. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the rep whom I worked with was very helpful. They sent #1 Garage Door and the tech showed up the next day after I called. Everything went very quickly and smoothly. The tech did the job and now the door works. I've had successful experiences with AHS so far, from making the phone call to having the contractor get here and take care of my issue in short order.
