    I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield for my furnace and everything went well. My husband and I both work during the day, and they offered to come the next day, but I had executive meetings that I couldn’t miss, so we ended up having to schedule it for later in the week. They were awesome and the customer service was exemplary. Butch, the guy who came out, was excellent and he shared our options with us. He talked about what the problem was so, we were excited. He was good. The furnace was a bust, so we ended up having to get a new furnace. We scheduled to have them install a new furnace, which took a little bit longer but we had it done before the weather got cold. It took about a week at the most.

    The garage door doesn't close correctly. It makes noises, and it was a little tilted. So I called AHS to send me someone from Sears. The tech they sent was well-mannered and professional. They found out that it was the spring, and it was not covered. But it’s fine. AHS applied the $100 deductible that I have toward my repair. And it was a good experience, overall. The customer service is good. And I like it. Their website is also very manageable.

    My condenser went out. And my fan, it would kick on, but wouldn’t start spinning just ‘cause there wasn’t enough power because of the condenser. Climate Express diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes, and they were out of here in 10 minutes. They replaced it and it was great. When I had a plumbing issue not too long ago, I thought a clogged up sink meant a clogged up sink, but apparently, if it was grease, that didn’t count. They didn’t cover that section of it. But otherwise, I’ve had a good experience with American Home Shield whom I've been with for two years now. It's been pretty easy to file a claim as well.

    The washer stopped working. There was no spinning movement and it was not pulling water. The contractor came the next day and he was very nice. He looked at it, and then he said that it was completely out so he recommended that we replace it and so the company did. It was a great experience.

    The Bennett Appliance Repair tech that went out was a very nice person and he did a very good job. But there was nothing wrong with the microwave or any of the stuff. We had an electrical storm and it tripped the breaker outside. So, they had to reset the breaker. Now, we know how to do it. We've got the air conditioners, furnaces and electrical stuff. Things break down and it's a lot of work when you're older, so I decided to renew AHS. I've had them for two years now and submitting claims online really makes it easier for us. I just go online, pick what the problem is, pay the 75 bucks and submit the claim. So far, we've only had a couple of contractors that came out and all of them have been good.

    I have two homes that are covered under American Home Shield. It started back in 2004 and I liked their consistency of delivering qualified service people. I have passed AHS' name on. I'm on the road all the time so I always have my laptop with me. I do my claims that way. Action Appliance was a contractor AHS sent me and I thought they were very good. They were very responsive and they knew what the issue was right away. I knew there was gonna be a part to get ordered and as soon as that part came in, Action Appliance called me, came right in and put the part in. Everything worked fine after that.

    The only thing is with my home in Arizona that has a pool and a complex cleaning system. When I need service on the pool equipment, I would call AHS to make sure that it's covered and they would tell me it is. But when a service guy goes out there, he tells me it's not covered because it's part of the in-floor system. That happened two or three times and it's usually on the in-floor cleaning system. The in-floor cleaning system is controlled from the pump and the filter system. There are in-floor cleaners that pop up and push all the debris towards the drain. They won't go in and do the in-floor system, which I understand because it would take somebody going under basically in a snorkelling outfit, but the outside of it is a gearbox mechanism that controls the flow of the water. That broke twice.

    I had never lived with a heat pump before, and the thing shut off one morning. There was a loud disconnect sound. American Home Shield's contractor came here and he was really nice. He checked everything out and gave me an education of what was going on. Heat pumps actually had defrost modes. And while they're running, they reverse the refrigerant to check to see if they're icing up. Not only did I get education, but it was a relief because this thing had gotten cold enough to where it starts doing the self-diagnostic stuff.

    I also had a guy out here for the refrigerator. It had been making noise since I moved in to the place in April, but I kept putting off filing a claim because I didn't want the hassle. But I was surprised how easy that process went. I just called up and told the lady the problems I was having. The tech came out and it turned out to be the ice maker. Once it freezes the ice, it heats the tray, and then it’s got a little knocker in there that loosens the ice from the tray so it’ll dump. The tech said the heating part of it was going out, and it got to where it knocks. It got stuck doing that, just over and over, and you can hear it all through the house.

    There was a couple of other noises but the strange thing is, when the guy came out, the fridge quit making the noise. He said he couldn’t fix it if he can’t hear what it’s doing. And the fridge hasn’t made the noise since he has been here. They're now ordering the ice maker for it, and they said they would get back to me in 5 to 10 days. So, I’m a happy camper.

    I've shopped around and spent a month figuring out who is who and what's going on. At the end of the day, I chose AHS because of how professional they ran their site and their claims process and how the things looked from an outsider looking in. The other companies all overly solicited me for discounts and special deals and tomorrow. It was a joke. And then, when you went into their site to really navigate what they can do, what's covered, it was less professional than the people with the website, which I gave it to AHS.

    I got two properties with AHS and I will continue to use them, especially since they did negotiate the cost of that service down a little bit to be more competitive because I was shopping around so much. But it was a pleasure as opposed to less than that. Whenever I submit a claim, it has been convenient, timely, and professional. They would tell me that they scheduled the company to come out and they would ask me if I wanna pay the $100 deductible now or later. I would tell them later and then I get a bill after the tech came, and that's really great. But now, they don't give me the option. They're changing things around. But regardless, it's all done right.

    My experience with the contractors has been excellent, except for one faux pas they had that they didn't use the same contractor, who charged me for something that they didn't do. And that was a bit upsetting. But the contractors change. AHS can't control it all. They're at the whim of whoever they send to represent them, and they'll lose their contract if they get enough complaints. So if they wanna keep it, they'll do it.

    When I bought the service for one of the properties three years ago, it was all good and everything was covered with the AC up to so much if you read all the fine print. I had to file a claim for an AC unit and the tech came out and they told me that they were gonna charge me for the Freon, but they would give me a discount. But I told them that this wasn't in the fine print in the beginning. After I'm a customer for four months already, they send me this new updated thing. That can be expensive.

    Right after that, I had the service, and they had to change some other thing. It was 10 pounds of Freon and it was 550 bucks with their discounted rate. So instead of paying $100, I had to pay the 550, and I squawked about it and said that it was not fair. They changed the deal after we made our contract and said, "This is what we're doing effective tomorrow." I checked the rate of the Freon, and their discounted rate was not discounted, even though that contractor said it was. It was still $55 a pound, which is market rate of 40 to 60. So that was a little bit of a bad feeling, but they did a $2,500 repair. So $100 plus and Freon is good.

    When my dryer had stopped working, American Home Shield sent Anchor Appliance Electric Repair and they were great. But I keep telling American Home Shield not to have Passion Services Pro come out again ever! They’ve sent out the company several times, and they’re a rip-off. Even their employees are telling me the bad stuff they’re doing. And even former employees that I’ve had out here before to fix something has told me the bad stuff that they do. I keep trying to get that across to American Home Shield. And I don’t know if they just use them to save money.

    Every single time the owner of Passion comes out, he says, ”Age and overuse” or “Age and overloaded.” He doesn’t even know how old it is. They had to come out for both my washer and my dryer. One was two years old, and one was less than a year old. And he kept trying to say, “Age.” When I said, “No, I have proof of that” then he would make up some story on the washer that I overloaded it. I said it was corroded. I see the corroded parts. And he said that it was my doing. He blamed it on me, so it couldn’t be fixed. So I had to dispute this with American Home Shield. They were very nice and they sent out Anchor. The man who came out knew the problem right away. He took it completely apart. He knew how to open that and he took it apart. Passion didn’t even take it apart. They just looked in it.

    Anchor said, “Nope. The drum needs to be replaced. This is what’s needed to be done.” If they order the parts, it can be fixed. My claim before was gonna be denied because the Passion guy said it was my fault and it couldn’t be fixed. He said it wasn’t corroded and it was from overstuffing it, which wasn’t true. And then AHS sent the same company out for my dryer. Passion did not bring any tools in. They did not bring any diagnostics in. They said, “What’s wrong with it?” I told them it just stopped working and it won’t turn on. They said it was this switch. I asked what if it was not that switch because I knew the guy didn’t have any testing tools. He didn’t test it at all. He said, “We’re gonna order both of these switches.”

    It took a while for them to come out. They came out the second time and put in both switches. But it wasn’t those two switches. So I had to wait even longer. I had to wait like two more weeks for that switch. They came in for another switch, and it wasn’t that! Then they said it’s the circuit board and I had to order that. It took a long time to get that in, and when they showed up, “Oh, this is the wrong part. This is just the cover. We have to order another one. Something’s wrong here.” But come to find out, ours didn’t even have a circuit board like what they were thinking it was. There was never one time that the company ever used a diagnostic tool on this.

    I was without a dryer from the middle of August. They sent somebody out August 16th. And I did not get my dryer fixed by a different company until at the beginning of October. And what the man did was came in, used his tester, and figured out it was just a fuse. That’s all it was. It was a simple, little cheap, couple-dollar fuse that had to be changed at the very beginning, and my dryer would have been fine. But when he put the fuse in, what happened was the other company installed the switches wrong, and it hinged it off, and so it caught fire. He said the wiring harness caught on fire and melted. I like American Home Shield. They do a good job. They come through. But I have to be persistent especially when they keep sending out Passion Services Pro. AHS really needs to get rid of that company.

    Someone recommended AHS so I got them. If I need a repairman they have someone come out and fix the machine. I have to pay the standard charge, and then everything is fine. A contractor came out for the oven the second time, and they couldn't find the parts to fix it, so they replaced it with a brand new oven. The service has been very good.

    When I speak to AHS' reps, most of them have foreign accents and it's hard to understand. It also takes a little time to get through on the phone sometimes because of long wait times.     I did not have a washing machine for two months because of American Home Shield. The customer service was really, really poor. The contractor, The Appliance Guys, had to come out three or four times and give the same diagnosis because, on the customer service end of things, American Home Shield would tell me that they would put stuff down, but they didn't, and that they checked out the parts but they didn't. It was a two-month process but it should have been one-and-done.

    Sitting on the phone with customer service and having customer service with American Home Shield tell me that certain things are being taken care of and noted, and then, going back into my computer and seeing that the case has been closed was disheartening. I spent a total of nine hours on the phone and several days calling American Home Shield over and over again and having customer service tell me one thing, but reality was another thing. So I had to really, really have some stick-to-it-iveness to even get this done and completed. But I love The Appliance Guys’ service. They were very, very good. They were very on point. Everything looks good so far.

    I still haven't gotten the microwave replaced yet. American Home Shield wanna replace my Viking, high end, built-in microwave with the lowest end microwave, brand-wise, that had similar features. So my kitchen is gonna be all mixed up, and I’m not gonna have the same brand appliances or even matching appliances. The same thing that happened with my washer that they replaced. Instead of giving me the same LG, which is only five years old, they would not allow me to do that. They replaced it with a GE. Now I’ve got a mismatched set. So, I’m not happy about that because they say that they’ll replace it with the same thing, but it’s just a play on words. It’s not the same thing, and it’s not the same quality.

    The door of my oven wouldn’t close all the way. I submitted a claim online with AHS and they sent out LA Appliance Service. When the techs came, they looked at it quickly and said that the hinges needed to be fixed. Then they took the oven door off and had to rebuild the hinges. After, they brought it back and put it in. The technicians were nice and it was a pretty easy job. But they had my oven door for four weeks while the hinges were being rebuilt. Still, I have two ovens so it wasn’t like I was left without one and it was not a big deal. In the end, it took them 10 minutes to install the repaired oven and it works fine now

    AHS has met my needs for fixing both times I needed them. One time, there was a part in my pool filter that leads to the pump which snapped. The pump normally pulls water into the filter then shoots it over into the pump. I submitted a claim to AHS as there was a bunch of leaks 'cause of the pressure that built up. The pump wasn't sucking. Platinum Pool Care's tech came out. He brought a piece out, fixed that and fixed all of the piping leading to the pump as well.

    This has been the second time that Platinum has come out and their tech was very good. However, Platinum doesn't answer the phone. They only wanna text. The tech explained to me that he answers 30 houses a day, that he and his girlfriend run the company and that sometimes, they don't have time to answer every phone call. Even so, they respond very quickly to text messages.

    For the last service I had with AHS's contractor, American Heating & Service, the tech who came out had great character and a great attitude. That time, I was taking advantage of AHS's special to have a professional come out and look over my AC that hasn't had a problem in years. The tech came and couldn't find anything wrong with my AC but his opinion was since I had the original AC unit since the house was build in 1997, I should replace everything which would be $7000 or $8000. He also told me that they offer financial assistance.

    With that, I would go from having a checkup to spending 7 or $8,000. I told the tech "No thank you". Unless I have a problem, I won't be using the checkup service anymore. I don’t know if the contractor was slow in business but I will not be taking advantage of that service again. That scared me to death. I would not go in if somebody just wanted something small repaired and try to leave with 500 times more than what a person is expecting to spend. My elderly mother lives here with us. She’s 75 and if I had been out of town and I’m having her handle that tech, I would’ve been devastated if she called me and said we need a whole new unit. Most people can't afford that.

    It’s not American Home Shield’s fault. I've had AHS' service for years and years. I've had claims during which their guys have come out and taken care of my issues. They have always been forward and fair with me. There's another company in town advertising on TV and they have been offering the same kind of service as AHS. They guarantee that they will repair my home and they've been emailing me twice a week. I just started sending their emails to the trash box. I'm happy with American Home Shield and I've recommended them to others who have signed up 'cause of my recommendation.

    One of our main floor ACs that cools the master wasn't cooling. I called American Home Shield and spoke to an agent. It was one of the more helpful experiences that I've had with them. I've had some not so easy times discussing the problem and getting the help that we needed because we were sent out another company initially, and we just had problems with them. So, the day that I called to request Air of Texas, the rep was very helpful. She said they'd give us a call within 24 hours, and they did.

    The first guy that came out was nice but he didn't fix the problem. He said there was nothing wrong and that it was cooling to an extent, but then it started heating up again, like outside, and our AC was not cooling properly. We had someone else come out from Air of Texas and look. He identified the problem quickly, there was a loose wire, and it has been functioning well since then. We live in Dallas, Texas and it's hot most of the time. Since the AC was fixed, we definitely were able to be in those rooms again, and it helps a lot.

    Byrd's Plumbing Services was sent out for us but they didn't do a whole lot in terms of resolving my problem. They tried to troubleshoot it but they really couldn't figure out what was wrong with the unit in the end. At the time of them leaving, it was operational. It wasn't operational due to anything that they did because it kinda has a mind of its own of when it's working and when it's not working. But again, they went through a couple of motions, hoping that it may prevent it from recurring, yet they had no idea if they really resolved the problem. So, there's no fault on the company.

    The issues haven't reoccurred, but we feel that since the contractor didn't really do anything, it's just a matter of time before it does. It could be the unit itself and, ultimately, even though it's a brand new unit, it could be a faulty one and maybe it has to be completely replaced. So, we're just gonna have to wait it over certain amount of time before that happens. Other than that, we've had no issues with other claims.

    American Home Shield's online portal is super easy to use and I totally appreciate that. I’ve used them a couple of times and every time it has been about three days for somebody to respond, but they have on their website that it’s 24 hours for someone to respond. They should update that to say 24 to 48 hours so instead of thinking, "I’m gonna get a call tomorrow,” people would have a different expectation. Under normal circumstances, it's not a huge deal when it’s a dishwasher, but if you've got a plumbing leak, that is a big deal. When my dishwasher wasn’t cleaning, the contractor AHS sent out was great. It would run through the cycle, but everything would still look like it did when I put it in there, but now the dishwasher is working great.

    We didn’t want the initial contractor that American Home gave us for the hot water problem we were having. The reviews on that company was so awful. So, we called in and asked for a different company. It was wonderful with All Hours Emergency Plumber. Their technician repaired it the same day. There were a couple of different things he had to repair in there including electrical. There was some wiring that was burned out. However, AHS needs to improve the wait time for the customer service. Usually, if I call them, it takes 40 minutes to get a representative on the phone.

    I went to switch my thermostat ‘cause it got cold, but the heat display didn't display. I knew where it was and it wouldn’t work. I even tried turning off the breaker box. The heat pump was working ‘cause the air conditioner was working. So, the issue was the thermostat. It was late at night when I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and then I had an email first thing in the morning. The technician from Myers Comfort came out that day and did great. I told him what I had tried and he told me that it wouldn't do me any good ‘cause the thermostat was broken. The thermostat had to be replaced and it was done. I was happy with that ‘cause it was gonna be cold for a couple of days.

    I didn’t agree with American Home Shield for the issue on my dryer. It went out one time and the people they sent out, Sears, came to my home for 4 different times. The man ordered another part every time he came, and when the next one came, he took them apart and ordered something else. The last part that they bought did not even fix the dryer. It took at least 2 and 3 weeks in between times, so I was without a dryer for at least 2 months. I then ended up going and purchasing another dryer. And when I explained this to them, they did not want to refund me for the dryer I had already purchased. Basically, they told me that I shoulda waited and never purchased a dryer. I told them, “So, you want to sit at home for three months without a dryer?” But in another claim, something with the furnace was leaking and Strong River Heating & Air came out. The guy was good and the furnace has been operating great since he did the service.

    We had an AC claim with American Home Shield and when they sent Action Appliance, it was a horrible experience. All Valley Appliance was the good one that came out and did fix the AC, and they’ve done a great job for us ever since. I’ve had a problem with Action Appliance before when I tried to hire them directly. They just came out. They missed their appointment. When they did come out, they tried to have me repair something I didn't need repaired. They didn't know what they were talking about. They delayed about a week, making me wait for a part that we didn't even need. And then, I stopped using them because the scheduling person and the one who answered the phone with me at the time was super-rude. And so, I didn't use them ever again.

    Then, through my home service warranty, they sent out Action Appliance for a washer repair. And I assumed it was All Valley Appliance because I used them two times before that through my home warranty, and they were great. I didn't recognize the name changed. I thought it was the same. And when they booked the appointment, it was the rude girl again. I thought I'd give them a chance. Maybe they could redeem themselves. They ended up coming out, and the guy said, “Your washer’s in a difficult space. We really need to rearrange it and move it out so I can work on it. But let me figure it out. Maybe I can get to the error codes, and maybe I could see what’s wrong with it.”

    He was here maybe for 10 minutes, and he said, “Okay, I got the problem. It’s the pump. The pump’s gone bad.” And that was covered under warranty, and we had to order the part. I got a large family. I got six kids. And we’ve been out a washing machine now for a week, and then, it’s going on two weeks. I keep calling, and I get this rude girl again, and she says, “Your part hasn’t been ordered yet. Your part order’s under review.” When I asked what she meant that it was under review, she said, “It was a pump. You guys ordered it, and he’d be back in a couple days to fix it.” It’s been two weeks. And she said she didn't have any other information and hung up the phone on me. I got livid. So I called the home warranty department and I complained. They said they could send them out for the same problem and they'd just give me a credit.

    All Valley Appliance called me that day. It was a very polite and nice guy. So, he would visit that afternoon. They came and looked at my washing machine, didn't comment about where it was located and how difficult it was to get to it, and he came out 10 minutes later with a sock. He said our problem was we had a sock in the washing machine drain, and that was it. He got to it from the front of the washing machine. He said our problem was fixed. The washer’s draining fine now, there’s no more error codes, and they're all cleared out.

    Action Appliance tried to screw me again on a part. I did it again with another guy that came out through our warranty that fixed our pool heater. They said the pool heater was shot and needed to get replaced. They gave me a quote for like 4,600 bucks, which my warranty wouldn’t pay for because they said it was rat damage. I was pretty bummed out. I got a second opinion from a local guy that my neighbors used. He came over, and for 135 bucks, he fixed my pool heater. So, I was never gonna use them again. That’s my problem with the warranty. I like AHS, and I’m glad I found All Valley Appliance that fixes stuff, but most of these other companies, all they care about was getting their service fee. They couldn't care less about fixing the part. Still, AHS rectified my problem pretty well. They're a great option to have.

    I was pleased with the guy from Sears who came out for my kitchen stove. The oven would come on, but it would never heat up. So, the first time he came out, he didn’t have the part that he thought he needed. He came back the next week and he brought a valve. It still didn't work so he returned another time with either another valve or an igniter. But it still wasn’t working so I called and told him that.

    He came back the fourth time and brought a regulator. It still wasn’t doing what it needed to do and he explained it to me. He had a gauge that he put on there and he said, “You're getting too much gas pressure into the home.” And I said, “Well, why doesn’t it affect my heating system?” He said, “That’s on the different wattage or something, different level of power.” I said, “Well, what do I need to do? Do I need to call a gas company? I've gotta have an oven.” And he said, “If you had lit a burner when you were baking, it would have taken care of that pressure.” Well, I didn’t know that.

    I then called the gas company and they sent a guy out. I told him, “I'm going to the backyard,” and then he came around the front and said, “They put the wrong regulator on your meter.” So, that was the problem the whole time. It actually was not the stove. It was such a frustrating thing because it took 6 weeks. They had changed out my meter three months ago, and the guy that was in charge of that thing was gone, so he wasn’t sure who or what rookie or if that was a case of who had installed it.

    At present, I have an oven and I'm happy. The Sears guy was really nice and he worked really hard each time he came. He was really frustrated because he couldn’t figure out why the parts weren’t working but he was just very polite and I have no complaints at all. It's wonderful. I'm also really pleased with American Home Shield. Having the warranty has saved me a lot of money.

    When getting a contract please review the fine print. I had an issue with my brand new American Standard HVAC system in May 2019. In May I contacted American Home Shield in reference to a concern I had about my unit a week later someone came to check the unit and stated that is is an issue with the compressor and they must have AHS order the part which was still under warranty because I purchased the unit in 2017. Two week later the part arrived and I was told I need to pay $575 for Freon once the part is changed because AHS only cover a portion and we are responsible for the rest.

    We did what we needed to by paying the money and now lets fast forward to October 2019. We turn the heat on and our unit is coming on however it is cutting on and off. We called AHS. They sent a tech out from another company and he stated that a part called TXV that is part of the brand new compressor that was put on must be changed. Mind you it's under warranty because the unit was purchased in 2017 brand new. However the catch is now I must pay this tech $675 for more Freon because once he change the TXV the Freon is no good. However AHS is telling me my Freon ran out from MAY-OCTOBER.

    Can someone please tell me that I am not being ripped off? We are talking about in five months I will be out of $1900 between service fees and what I'm being asked to pay for FREON. And this is with having a warranty from AHS. I was given an email address to express my concern since May and have yet to receive a response. We have them for three different properties and trust me when I tell you we will be canceling. Respectfully, Ms. **.

    Nothing more disturbing then to come home and find out your garage door won't open! Called AHS last last night to report the issue. Got a call first thing the next morning from Flash Garage Door service advising me they would have a tech at my house within a few hours. Technician's name was Josh. He diagnosed the problem and corrected the issue in about 20 minutes. Not only did he fix everything but he reprogrammed the remotes in both my cars which would have been a serious issue for me!     We have had 3 repairmen come and work on this dishwasher. First time was 12-23-2018 where they replaced a thermal fuse kit. Then on 7-18-2019 we had a repairman come and replace a water valve due to a leak. Then on 10-23-2019 3rd repairman came and said our dishwasher shorted out. Burnt wiring inside. Described dishwasher as being unsafe!! After almost a week we called to see what AHS was going to do and they again want to repair this dishwasher. This is a KitchenAid dishwasher and is almost 13 years old. We have paid $225 for service calls not including the $88 we pay a month to have this warranty. So yes AHS is really good at sending repairmen to your house but will continue repair even an unsafe appliances.

    The evaporator pump was installed without any new tubing on it. So the tubing got clogged up and it quit working, and water was coming out in our basement. My husband did the claim online, and then I called the contractor and they came right out. They are a good company. The tech changed out the tubing, which was causing a clog, and immediately freed it up and it started working. We don’t have water in our basement now.

    Our experience with American Home Shield in general has been very challenging with some of their contractors, but this particular company seemed to do a pretty good job. But we are very happy we have American Home Shield. It’s been a good experience. Doing the claim online is the quickest way to do it rather than wait on the phone on hold for someone to come to the phone. But I don’t know how to do it online like my husband. So I hold for half an hour or longer.

    It's very easy using the American Home Shield website to make a claim. I did one for plumbing and one for a rekey. In about a week, someone came out for the service request. For my plumbing claim, that was two weeks ago and Pipe Master LLC was sent out. The guy from there was timely and excellent. He was very professional and he explained everything. He was here for about an hour and he fixed the toilet. It's been great since.

    The rekey claim, on the other hand, took a little longer because I had to resubmit it. The key place didn't have the order, so I contacted American Home Shield and they reset the order and they called immediately. But a guy is here now. He called me ahead of time that he was on his way. He's working diligently, so he seems to be very professional. I've had AHS for about two years now and my experience has been very positive.

    I had a claim with American Home Shield on my microwave, and my experience was horrible. Swift Appliance Repair was great. But the previous company that they had, Premier Appliance Services, was horrible. They had two appointments they did not show up for. It took me like a month to get one item done. The first time I called to make a request for repair, the guy came and fixed it, and within five minutes, it was not working. He literally was leaving my house when the item went back to the same problem. So, I called American Home Shield and the people came back, and he said that it was something above their ability to repair. In the meantime, it was twice, they didn't show up, so then AHS assigned it to a second company, and that was the company that did fix it. What they told me was that the first contractor had brought a defective part.

    I had two companies come out throughout a month, which is totally ridiculous and insane. Your need your microwave every single day. The process was not that difficult. Premier's information was incorrect, and there were two no-shows because they sent me a text that somebody would be here on Thursday. I've been waiting for three hours, and no one showed up. There was no call, text, or email. Then again, somebody was supposed to come in on Saturday, and there was no call, show, or email. It was a horrible service. American Home Shield's contracting people do not do a good job. And they have to step up their game and confirm that the people are coming because they're who I'm paying.     Out AC was leaking. I just called Home Shield and got it all worked out. It was the $75 expense upfront and everything is covered. We've been really happy the claim process. And then, the guy from Family AC Service Solutions who came out was very professional and got the AC fixed. The issue had something to do with the condensation line and he explained it all perfectly.     I'm very pleased with the coverage and the people I've been interacting with at AHS. When a dishwasher died, I spoke with their representatives about having it fixed and my experience was good. They were very helpful and walked me through the process. The contractor they sent out was very good, too. He worked with us and told us what the problem was. But he wasn't able to fix it because it was such an old unit. Right now, I've gotta submit my paperwork to AHS and they're gonna reimburse me. Other than that, we also had a repair done on a refrigerator and the tech who came out did a good job. He found out what the problem was, ordered the part, and came back soon as the part came in.     Hers & His Plumbing had to replace the item because the whole thing sheared off when they went to remove it. The problem with the water heater has now been solved. The water doesn’t smell anymore like it was and all is good. He was the same one that came and diagnosed the system and told me we needed a new board, and he was also the one that came in and installed it.     On the news, they’ve been rating home warranty companies, how some of them are not able to do what they need to do. But I have not had that experience with American Home Shield. As a matter of fact, I changed over to them from First American Home Warranty recently and I'm pretty pleased. When my dryer was not drying properly and my washer wasn’t washing well, I called American Home Shield and submitted the claim. They responded to me by setting up an appointment and the contractor came out. They diagnosed what the problem was and were very professional. They were able to diagnose that the washer was fine but the dryer had a gas leak. They were able to replace my dryer though, and they did that.

    Before American Home Shield sent out Sears, who is absolutely the best on the block, AHS tried to send the first person out. And it was a constant miscommunication. They said that they were coming out but they didn’t show. Then they said that they tried to get ahold of me yet there were no text messages nor voicemails. And whenever I called them up, it was like they didn’t have time. I should not have had to go through the iterations as many times as I did.

    Long story short, I called back American Home Shield and told them, “Listen. We just got off to a bad start. It’s not gonna get any better. I need to get somebody else.” I was trying to get Sears because I've had experience with them through American Home Shield and they did exactly what they were supposed to do. But before I even got a chance, I paid the $100, and then the girl said that they got some other folks. I said that it didn't make any sense and that it has only been 10 minutes. They didn’t give me a chance to finish the conversation.

    So, what I tried to do when they gave me a name of somebody that they were proposing to send out, I looked on our homeowners' network and find out that the company in question has had quite a history of doing not so good things for repair and services. Same when you look at the website of the company itself. Obviously, I don’t wanna be going through the same thing that the neighbors have gone through, especially when they specifically wrote about the company, told all the things that they have experienced and how they paid the $100 for nothing. There was one of them that was writing things up that were untrue and the next thing you know, they still have a broken appliance and $100 out.

    Florida has an especially large problem with contractors than it has been in practically any other state we’ve been in. We’re a military family and they’ve been giving us a run for our money. I know my husband has gone down to ConsumerAffairs and to whoever the next level up with legal is, and it’s pretty pathetic, because there isn’t a lot that’s gonna protect you. And it’s even worse for so many of the seniors down here. We run into situations where the seniors would put $50,000 of their entire life savings on a roof and the contractor walked.

    So, I cancelled the first, and spoke for the third time with the managers of American Home Shield and they assured me that wouldn’t happen again. They made the effort to try to straighten things out so there is more good than there is bad. I've actually told the managers before and gave compliments to some of the people who did what I think was above and beyond consumer satisfaction, and then when I've had one of them who was just a nightmare to deal with, I’ve called the managers up, explained the situation and got the commitment. It didn't always work but it was enough that I still have the to deal with them. If I had the managers ignoring me when I elevated the issue, then we’d be having a different conversation. If they immediately say, “No, this is the next person. You’re stuck with it. You’re gonna get it. We’ve got your $100,” then that’s when I'm rolling up my sleeve. And I don’t have any issue that if it gets worse.

    But in the end, we finally got things resolved. Getting there was a bumpy road and a little bit uncomfortable, but it is what it is. It’s just part of the give-and-take of any business. The problem is always gonna be when there’s a breakdown in communication, and that’s the language barrier. It’s something that’s doable ‘cause if you have somebody that I couldn't understand or I don't think would listen, I'd cancel the warranty, call back and talk to somebody who'd listen to what I have to say. If American Home Shield was to send me somebody out that’s competent and we didn’t have issues, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

    Do I expect everything’s gonna be smooth sailing from here on? No. But I don’t have any problem renewing my policy with AHS or recommending them. I can't compare them to anybody else. In the end, I am very thankful that AHS worked with me, got the Sears technician out who fixed my refrigerator before, and did a class act. The tech had to come out twice, but I wasn't charged more for that. The same thing happened with the dryer. They have got professionals second to none.

    I filed a claim with American Home Shield when we had a problem with our gas heater and their contractor came out the next day. The guy was knowledgeable and got everything fixed in about 45 minutes. The bill was then charged to my card, which American Home Shield already took the number when I initially reported the problem. They charged it on Saturday, but then on Monday, I got an email that my payment was due. I called them and then they said that it has already been paid. I then asked why they sent the email but they didn't have any answer, so I was really hurt about that. Other than that, it was a good experience.

    We talked to several other companies, and American Home Shield was more detailed. We kinda gave different scenarios. We live on a bayou, and we were really affected during hurricane Harvey. This particular area that we moved to was the hardest hit in Houston. Our house is elevated so we didn’t have any water damage, but if anything had happened we wanted to see what exactly would have been covered. They went through everything with us, and told us everything would be covered. I asked a billion and one question. The girl I dealt with was extremely sweet and answered every single question. There was one question she didn’t know the answer to. She put me on hold and got back to me with it. They answered everything. I was probably on the phone with them for an hour and a half.

    I submitted a claim over the phone, and the process was quick and easy. It was probably the easiest thing I’ve ever had to do as a homemaker. I spoke to somebody because it was the first time I’ve ever had to use it. And the rep goes, “Ma’am, it’s gonna be real simple. You just tell me what’s going on.” So, I told her my kid dropped a pan on the stovetop, and three out of five burners quit working, and there was a crack in the stovetop. She said I was gonna get a phone call in a few minutes. And sure enough, I hung up with her and within five minutes, my phone rang. Somebody was at my house the very next day.

    The contractor was very sweet. He looked at the elements and said they needed to be changed. He said we couldn't just change the elements. The whole thing had to be changed out because of the crack. I said okay and he said, “But this is an older model and you have the vent in the center of it, so it might take me a minute to find this particular stovetop.” He asked if I was fine with that. Somebody from their office called me the next day and she said it was gonna take about four days before they could get that in. She also asked if I was fine with that. Sure enough, On Monday the next week, it came in and the contractor came out.

    He was running a little bit behind. He called me first thing that morning. He said, “Ms. **, I’m sorry. We were supposed to be there by 10:00, but it’s looking like it’s gonna be closer to be about 1:00.” I told him that was okay. They got here, he finished it up, and he apologized profusely. He was so kind when he was here. Their communication was awesome - the text messages, the emails, the phone calls. As soon as the contractor left, I immediately got on my mom’s group and recommended American Home Shield.

    My rates with AHS have gone up by 20%. They raised my monthly premium. In the first year, there was no increase at all, and then the second year, my premiums went up.     I've had American Home Shield for less than a year and I've already shared them with a few people. They've done what they said they were gonna do. I've had a few others in the past but AHS has been the best I've had so far. But when I first signed up, there was a lot of confusion. I signed up online and there was a lot of problem in creating my account. They created my account, but it didn't register me that I created another account. So, I have two accounts going on. The first 30 days was a mess.

    So far, it has been easy to submit claims to AHS. I had some issues earlier in the spring. I had a clogged drain line between the air handler and the drain. The communication with the contractor that they sent the first time wasn't great. They didn't know exactly when somebody was coming and they didn't answer the calls right away. But the last claim was really good. The contractor said they would get back to me within a day and they got back to me within an hour, and scheduled the repair for the next day and sent somebody out. They called in advance and said they were coming. They came and did the job and left.

I spoke with a representative and he was helpful. The technician came and he was very pleasant and helpful as well. But I'm not happy that it took two days.     I've been with American Home Shield for a year and renewed in September. I file claims online and using their website is a lot easier than having to make a phone call. The doors on my refrigerator were all shut, but the indicator light was indicating that the doors were open. It would beep 24/7 and there was no way to turn that off. It took the contractor three times to fix it. The first time, it was fixed for a couple of days, but at the end of the day, the part needed to be replaced.     We had a problem with the dishwasher. It was not fitting into the cabinet correctly. We had Bay To Bay Appliance Repair come out to see if they could correct the problem. We had no problem submitting the claim with AHS, but the contractor didn't do anything. We had an electrician that was here working on some electrical issues for us and he was the one that fixed it for us. I didn't know there was a remedy until the electrician pushed in and told me what we had to do to get it to work. All he did was just push it and adjust it and it went right in.

    The people that AHS sends should know how to fix things. That's our whole reasoning for having American Shield. My son and I don't know how to fix things around the house, so we're basically gonna have to be having others do it for us. So when we had someone come out that we needed to pay and they didn't fix it and basically said it was not a top problem, that they couldn't fix, then it was kind of just a wasted service call. I don't necessarily blame it on American Shield. They did everything they were supposed to do. I will blame it more on the vendor.

    At Home Services fixed our oven after we filed a claim with American Home Shield. They were relatively quick. I got a notice from them later that day or early the next morning after the claim. The repairman was quite familiar with the technology of the oven, took it apart, saw where the element was burned out and ordered a new piece.     We had a faucet leak and two other water line leaks including the shower diverter. The plumber came out as scheduled on a Saturday and he needed to get parts. He came back on a Monday per his scheduled time and repaired them, and it was perfect. He has a bad rep on Yelp and everything else in Spokane area, but he did fine with us and he communicated with us. So, everything's good and we're happy.     The refrigerator wasn’t holding the temperature, and American Home Shield sent a guy out from Coopers Appliances. He found out that the thermostat that controls the temperature and whether it goes into defrost mode belonged to General Electric, and this was a Kenmore refrigerator. The only problem I had was that they took forever to get the part and get it repaired. Everything was fine with the claim, except the length of time they took. It took a while for the contractor to come out, and then once they diagnosed it, it took a while to get the part. You’d think with a refrigerator claim, American Home Shield would consider it as an emergency and expedite it. Also, the policy for the first year was $350 a year, and then when we renewed it, it was $500. That’s a 30% increase. But I looked into other companies and they were a lot worse.

    Ever since we bought the house in 2004, we've had AHS. We even had it in San Bernardino when we had our first house. We go online for claims and we usually get a call within an hour. Someone is contracted and they set up a time. The contractors come when they’re supposed to. They’ve always seemed to be very professional. I think AHS contracts with good, professional and trustworthy companies. I feel really good about their visits and what they’ve done. I'm just sad that our washer and dryer are no longer covered under the plan but that's okay.

    The main shower in the house has a Moen valve and a Moen plumbing in it. There’s also a cartridge inside and that cartridge was worn out. So, the plumber from Budget Rooter replaced the Moen cartridge and it works smoothly now. He did a good job. American Home Shield's claim's process was very simple. I provided them with my credit card number, $75 and they scheduled a person to come out here. The contractor was here within hours, had it fixed that morning and it was done by noon. Once before, when there was an issue with a pump for our waterfall, the contractor was here the same day as well. However, it wasn’t covered under American Home Shield. So, I had to purchase the pool pump myself, had it installed and the guy did a good job on that.

    I did an online claim with American Home Shield for an electrical breaker that kept tripping. Using their website was super easy. And I’d almost just prefer to plug in the information as I know it to be and not rely on a third party to sort of take it down. Two electricians showed up, which was nice because they were able to bounce things off one another. They worked for the same company and they both came together.

    I also had a claim for the AC. When the tech was here, he walked outside, looked at something, and replaced the part and did a test on it to ensure that it would work. He came inside, turned on the AC, set it, and waited until it started to cool down to make sure it was gonna cool down. And he was great, too. And then, the AC company sent me a report to let me know what it is that they did and all the warranty paperwork associated with it. I have used home warranty companies previously in my former homes, and this isn’t the first time I've ever used Home Shield. They came recommended from a friend, and I am delighted with the service. I already did recommend them to a friend.

    Our unit outside was making a loud noise like the fan was loose so we needed it tightened. With American Home Shield, you go online and submit a request then they have a third-party person call us and schedule an appointment. For this claim, our technician was from A-Us Air Conditioning. The gentleman was very courteous and knowledgeable. He was just good. He came in and addressed the issue. He tightened up the unit. It was a good experience. AHS has been helpful.     I had a leak. I wasn’t sure though if it was in the shower or the pipe. I thought it was a piping issue, but it turned out to be a tile issue. I've had two people come out who just did cursory work. Then I had somebody come in to look at the shower and said, “Oh no, it’s not a tile issue.” So I went back and forth between several contractors. Either the tile and grout person, or a piping person, or a plumber. The last guy from Service Giant that AHS sent was phenomenal. He really took the time to help me to eliminate plumbing as an issue. I got the tile person to come back and to seal the specific areas that the plumber identified. So I was very, very pleased with him.

    I've also had previous experience that was really, really bad, bad enough to make me wanna change providers. I had early in the year, around June, placed a claim for a HVAC. It turned out my unit needed some parts. So the contractor came out, identified what the issue was, let AHS know what it was, and then went about trying to identify the part. He identified the part. AHS found the part and gave it to the guy. It was June or July then so we went through several days of excruciating heat. And I have a son, not a baby, but he’s not a teenager either. So it was very uncomfortable for him.

    I had multiple calls to American Home Shield about this vendor expressing that this vendor was unresponsive. I escalated the claim and finally, I just told my brother to help me with my problem. I wanted to switch provider then, because they were unresponsive. Months and months went by and American Home Shield, no matter how much I pleaded with them, just was very inflexible about whether or not they would allow another vendor to come through. And then they said, “Well, if we allow another vendor, then we’re only gonna pay you X amount of money. So it was a horrible experience. And I am not a complainer.

    I went online and explained it to the person who was communicating with me on Facebook. And at every turn, they were like, “Sorry, there’s nothing we could do. You’re gonna have to still deal with this vendor.” They’ve reached out to the vendor several times but the vendor was unresponsive. I told them that I’ve got a very reputable HVAC company who comes to our neighborhood a lot, but they just refused to allow me to even use this person. It was really bad. Eventually, the provider came and installed the part. But it left a very bad taste in my mouth, to the point that I went out and investigated another company. And for the same, or maybe a little bit more, they will allow me to put my own providers because the group of providers that was being offered didn’t seem to be very good. Still, I have not ruled out switching providers because of that really terrible experience.

    The tenant on my rental property said that with the onset of some cool weather, he tried the heater and it wasn’t working. I took a quick look at it myself and it wasn’t something that was easily fixed, so I placed an online claim with American Home Shield. They sent out Higginbottom’s and my wife was home when the repair was made. I didn’t get any information from the technician so I called him and asked him what he problem was. He said it was a pilot line and he was able to unclog it. It worked.

    Sometimes you gotta fight AHS a little bit to get what you want but typically, they satisfy me as far as delivering on the warranty. A couple of times, they’ve sent some people I wouldn’t let into my home, but I usually tell them about that and they either send somebody else out or kinda work around that problem.     We had a leaky garbage disposal, for which Home Shield sent out Price Right Plumbing, and their tech took care of it. The previous time with this contractor, though, they were unable to clear out a bathroom sink line that I called for. Home Shield has a policy about a second opinion but I didn't use that. I just ended up calling a plumber because getting a second opinion puts you at risk. You have to fork over another $100. I also felt like Home Shield gave me a hard time about it. They said they finally were gonna credit me the $100 that I paid, but I’m not even sure if they did or not. But this time, the contractor got everything working. He had the part on hand and he installed it. Besides the garbage disposal, I also had a very good experience with Home Shield on a claim with the dishwasher.

    Last month, I called AHS because something was wrong with the air conditioner. It wasn’t pushing out any air. I couldn’t turn it on, there was nothing on the thermostat. It wasn’t doing anything. The contractors looked and saw that there was an issue last month, and then it hasn’t even been a month. And so, AHS said that they would send somebody else out, and so they did.

    This time around, submitting the claim had been really easy. The last time that I called, I had to wait through the weekend. It was Thursday evening when I called and they couldn’t get anyone in there on Friday. So, I had to wait through the weekend. That was a bit miserable, but I just waited it out. But, with this time, they were right on it. I showed my concern with that and she said, “Well, no Ma’am.” She said, “If they don’t respond to you within 48 hours, then give us a callback and we’ll try and get somebody else there." And that made me feel good, but the contractors called right away. I’ve also had to call AHS on a couple of different occasions and I can’t complain. It was a good experience.

    I had a lot of problems with my washing machine. An AHS contractor had come out and they were horrible. They told me it was an electrical problem. They were there for about an hour and a half but they couldn't fix it. I called my electrician and replaced the plugs, which cost me so much money. And then, AHS was nice enough to do the claim with Big Country. They came out and said it had nothing to do with electrical. They knew what it was and they ordered parts then put those in. They needed another part and ordered it in advance so I didn't have to wait. I work so much, and they tried to really help me and make it easy on me. They had really good customer service. They then came out and fixed the machine, and it works perfectly.

    I have had terrible experiences with American Home Shield since my contract started about 45 days ago. After the purchase of a $880.00 warranty coverage plan (includes pool), I was sent an unethical service provider that charged me for the service (even after paying for it) and AHS refused to work with me on the overcharge. Additionally, they found ways to deny coverage under my contract by stating there are "Manual" workarounds to run equipment when they should be run on timers, e.g. pool filtration, heating and plumbing systems. I will not renew this contract after the one year and encourage everyone to do their homework before selecting American Home Shield for a home warranty contract.

    I usually submit claims online to American Home Shield but for the plumbing, I had to talk to somebody so they could try to find me somebody that could come out sooner. They told me no one could come out until Thursday and that was too long from Sunday for my plumbing to be backed up in both bathrooms. The AHS reps did okay on the phone but the first two people told me they were gonna call me back and didn’t. So, I had to still call back on Monday. The guy from Drain Go was okay but he said that they couldn’t do my plumbing the way that it was set up. My return switch is under the house and AHS wouldn’t cover it if they would have to go under the house. I had to pay them the $75 and they were not able to rectify the problem. So, I have to call another plumbing company.

    I’ve been with AHS for 10 years and I was disgusted with the plumbing issue but the other claims have been okay. A couple of weeks ago, the garage door wouldn’t go up and when it did go up, it looked like it was about to fall off the hinge. The guy from Magic City Door did a good job and it has been working fine since the repair.

    American Home Shield always has a recording which asks if something is broken and they give you the person who's gonna come, and either they call me or I call, which I usually do because if I got a problem, I want it to get here ASAP. It’s never the same day. Also, I like talking to a person. Sometimes, I speak with someone but if it’s the same thing every time I call and I talk to somebody different each time, I get frustrated and I just say okay.

    The switch on the wall wasn’t working and the contractor, City First Electric came out. Most of the contractors who came were good but I didn’t care for the one who came yesterday for the garage. It seemed like they were in a hurry. The technician said something was loose and I assumed he tightened it. When he was there, I opened and closed the garage door and did it again, and it worked. But when my granddaughter came home, she said she couldn’t get it up. So, I said that the technician fixed it and I went out there. The garage door would go a little bit, and then it would fall down like a brick. The technician came back today and the garage door is now working.

    When things go wrong, the warranty cost me less for the contractor to come than if I had to get a person on my own. An electrician would’ve probably cost more than my fee of 75, which makes it most valuable. But the only thing I don’t like about AHS is that every year, they go up on my contract. When I started out with them, I was only paying $45 for my fee, and my yearly thing was 400. So, my monthly that I pay them goes up each year too.

    We had our microwave not working and our experience with Home Shield was a nightmare. We put in the call for the microwave, stovetop, and the backdraft. After almost a month, I called because I didn't hear back from them. Some guys came, inspected it, did the diagnostic, and then ordered for the part. After a few weeks, I didn't hear back from them. I called Home Shield. They said that parts have been put in order, but somehow, they sent it to the wrong address and not the company that ordered it. I had to wait another two weeks. The guys had misdiagnosed it and was having me sign to replace the entire backdraft when in fact it was just a little piece that probably cost $20 to replace. And I found that out when I had another guy come look at another appliance. I was on the phone with Home Shield for hours. They would tell me one thing, and I'd find out a week later there was something different submitted.

    I was not happy with the service at all. Some of Home Shield's reps were knowledgeable but some were not. A lot of them told me one thing and then it turned out that they had input something different in the system, and then I found that out when I had to call and say, "What's going on? No one's here. It hasn't been fixed." And it took weeks, many calls, and hours on hold because getting through them was a disaster. It would be 45 minutes or an hour on hold while they figure out what they needed to do, and then they didn't even do what they were supposed to do.

    As far as the contractors, the first one was unreliable and dishonest. I found out that based on our interactions, they were misdiagnosing things. I didn't want them to come to our house. I didn't wanna deal with them. And then the GE specialist came. He was amazing. He knew exactly what to do, diagnosed it, ordered a part, and fixed it within a week's timeframe. With Home Shield, I've never had such a horrible experience. And I was working into changing the insurance company because of the lack of satisfaction with them. We didn't have a microwave for a month and a half, then the backdraft wasn't fixed for a month until we got the GE specialist come out.

    I know the name of American Home Shield and this was the warranty made available to me. I've been with them for almost two years and it's very easy to do claims online. I just go ahead and prepay the service call fee and it makes it easier all the way around. The only downer was when I tried to schedule for an electrician to come out. This was towards the end of last year. That was a disaster. I never got him to come out. I guess he was just really busy at the time and we never connected. I finally gave up. I tried to get my $75 back but couldn't get anybody to respond to me. Finally, my son-in-law came in from Austin and took care of my issue. The latest contractor AHS sent, A-English, was great though. The plumber has been out several times for different issues and he did a great job. He responds quickly and gets the job done.     I'm at 9 months with Home Shield in my location, but I've had them multiple times. They were very responsive when I filed a claim for my dishwasher that wasn't working and Sharper Service Solutions was sent out. The tech diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, came back and replaced the parts. Unfortunately, we had other issues as well, so it wasn’t fully diagnosed in the beginning. And I’m waiting on the final service on Thursday.

    One thing that I would have liked to see done differently is for a total assessment and evaluation of the issues with the appliance done, and then determine whether to replace or repair. The tech has come out for the fourth time to repair our dishwasher, he has replaced three different parts, and in replacing those different parts, it would’ve been easier to just have replaced the appliance itself. He didn’t stay and let the whole cycle run, which means he didn’t care about the motor going out or not working. He didn’t evaluate the heating coil inside as well. So, maybe make it a one stop, whether that be replacing the unit itself or repairing everything at once. Still, the tech who came out has been fantastic and very pleasant.

    I went online and said I have a trouble with the water heater. We had seen a lot of yellow in the water so something was probably wrong with either the water heater or the pipes. Navigating through the site went pretty smooth. But I wish in this case for the water heater there was a little tab that said corroding. But I think that’s only for old water heaters. Chris, from Power Plus, checked it out and said it was kinda cracked. It was also corroding. There was a little leak, and it was leaking rust so he said, “Okay, we should probably change it.” Chris was great. Overall, it’s been great. Our house isn’t exactly that old, so I wasn’t expecting to have to do any kind of claims at all.     It's tough to get through to anybody at AHS. Still, when I get through to their reps, they have been good. However, some are better than others. Some say they'll do things which they do and others don't follow through the way they should. Also, I've had problems when I've had to call over and over again. Those times, AHS had given me credits to not quit on them but then using those credits was next to impossible. I would call and the reps would tell me everything was fine but then I wouldn't get to use my credits. I kept getting billed. I've used up the credits now but still, that was a big concern. So, I prefer to do things online.

    American Home Shield sent Runyon Appliance out for the oven. It was a good experience. The contractor was here for less than an hour. I did the claim via the internet, and it was easy. I've been with AHS for couple of months, but I’ve had them in the past as well. When you have to call, it’s off shored in the Philippines, and you go through an enormous amount of prompting to get to a live human. You wait, then you get somebody on, and then they re-ask you, “What is the service address? What is your policy number? Who am I speaking with? What is your phone number? What is your email address?” That’s the only thing. It’s a ridiculous amount of questions.

    We recently had an annual checkup of the furnace where AHS sent out a tech from Piedmont Mechanical Contractors. Initially, I started off making this claim online and for some reason, it was not filed and I ended up talking to somebody on the phone. But the tech who came out was excellent. I had the same guy about six months ago who checked out the air conditioning system. I liked him then and I like him this time, too. He was thorough, professional, and on-time. He also recommended a few things I could do to keep the system healthy. I just moved into this condo about February. Everything's 17 years old and I'm expecting them all to break down, but he gave me advice on how to keep them alive.

    Other than that, I've had the warranty since February and so far, I've had three things done. The first thing was they sent somebody out to put new locks on the doors and that went fine. The tech was very professional and on-time. And I was happy with that. Then I had a claim for the air conditioner and now the furnace. And all those three things were done well.

    I requested for service over the phone for our microwave that wasn't working. The AHS reps have always been very nice and Ramco Appliance Repair, the contractor that came out, was great. They came out within a day and they repaired the microwave. But they had to order parts so they ordered them, got the parts, and came back and fixed it. Since then, the microwave has been great. Ramco is a really good company. I've dealt with them before and they've been very professional. They knew exactly what was wrong and they did great service.

    I had a claim for the outside fan on the AC unit and that was repaired expeditiously. The Intrastate Energy Controls replaced the motor on the fan and they did an excellent job. In fact, they found the other problem which was a separate item, which I had to call in again. A different company came out and repaired a leak by the plenum box with the ductwork and they seemed to do a good job. The issue was the contractor before that caused the ductwork leak. They didn’t do it properly.

    I’ve submitted claims both online and through phone, and for me, it’s easier to use the automated voicemail than to get on the computer and do it. So, a lot of times, I just do it through the automated voicemail. The reps I've talked to were helpful. It’s a little frustrating though because you have to put in a lot of information to get to them, and then they tend to ask you the same information again. They confirm your address, phone number and contract when they already knew who I am because I’m in the system. So, the process is a little bothersome. But generally, it gets done. It gets in the queue and I get called back quickly.

    The last two contractors have been good. But there was a period where it was extremely rocky, where the AC contractors were not very good. I’ve got a stack of papers, a quarter-inch thick on the AC stuff. And a lot of times, I had to call back to try to fix a problem that wasn’t fixed properly the first time. But it has been better in the last year. They change contractors occasionally and it seems like the problem. They’ve improved.

    There was a leak on the bottom of the dishwasher and the ice maker wasn't making any ice anymore. I filed claims for both with Home Shield online and it was pretty straightforward. We had two different technicians from Stars Service. One didn't seem to know what he was doing, while the other one was really helpful and tried everything to fix the problem. It was a 50-50.

    The repairs took a while. We had at least three or four visits. In one or two of those, the guy came to tell the same thing that he told us during the previous visits. He wasn't prepared to fix the problem during the second or third visit, and he didn't realize that until he got to the house. He didn't have the part. That was why we scheduled that second or third visit for. But then the second technician that ended up coming to the house was better. Other than that, I like having access to technicians - being able to just call a number or go online and set up an appointment and not having to come up with $400, $500, or $600 to get something fixed every time.

    The rep I spoke with was fine, however, I wasn’t aware and I was surprised that there was a $75 fee every time I talked to them. That could be my fault ‘cause we just moved and things were hectic. I was given something about the policy, but I didn't have time to go over it. So, to do a better job, there should be an email or something that says, “Here’s the basics.” That would have been very helpful. Another thing was on the impression that there was a free change-the-lock service in the beginning. Maybe it was free, but I had to pay the $75. No matter what I do, I pay the $75 and that, to me, is not free. But again, it was worth $75 and it wasn’t an issue. I told my wife, “I don't think I’ll ever call them again. I’ll just call a service company, especially if I don't think it’s a big deal.” Still, just clearer communication would be helpful.

    I had a dryer issue and I happened to mention I thought it might be the vents. I was told, “Sir, we don’t cover vent issues.” And I didn't know that. So, it was a vent issue and I had to pay twice. That was okay because I didn't know the rules. So, I was satisfied. Also, the contractors that have been out were good, came when they said, and did the work.

    The tech from Appliance Repair came out twice. First time he came out, he was supposed to service my dishwasher but he thought the machine was under warranty for a recall. But it was only the ones with the ceramics and not stainless steel. Mine is stainless steel. I called American Home Shield and set up another appointment. The tech came back and fixed everything he thought he couldn't fix because it was under warranty. He just didn't know there were two separate types of dishwasher. He put in a new heating element and a new control panel and it works fine now. The service was great. He came in and repaired it so fast, it didn't disrupt anything. Having a home warranty is very valuable. Over the course of 12 or 13 years that I've been with AHS, we've had a few things that went out such as water heater, air conditioning and a whole bunch of different things.     I had problems with my dishwasher and fridge, and American Home Shield sent a very professional appliance expert to fix both. When I called to file the claim, I tried to explain the whole situation to the representative, and during the time I talked to her, she wasn’t trying to figure out what was the problem. She just tried to somehow click on something on her computer that was more close to what I was trying to achieve. But there is no option that tailor to my problem. So, she got frustrated and she hung up on me. I had to call a second time and talk to another representative.

    The second representative explained to me that they don’t have an option that’s close to my situation, and that what they can do is they can send the expert to fix my fridge and the dishwasher. And if they need a claim and need to approve to get the parts, the expert will do all the job. I told them I don’t wanna wait and I wanna solve the problem as quickly as possible. I compromised with their option and just went with it, and the end result is pretty good. The professional person that they hired to fix my stuff was very, very good. He fixed my problem, no question asked, and did whatever the parts replaced needed. He didn’t give me a hard time. He didn’t let me wait another one, two or three days. He got it done. So, I’m very happy with it. It was excellent.

    American Home Shield has done a outstandingly great job to help me. I’m moving to my new home and there are a lot of moving issue, like the fridge and the dishwasher didn’t work. But at the end, they really tried their best to send me the profession person to help me out and fix the problem. And even though every single time, I have to pay the $89 fee, the speed that they can schedule me for some expert to come is very impressive. One way that American Home Shield can improve is if they could send the expert over and they could analyze the problem, and then charge the $89. Because for the end user like us, we don’t know if we paid the $89 and that professional person will be able to fix everything. I was a little concerned where that $89 goes to if they cannot fix my stuff. But every single time I deal with American Home Shield, I get a pretty good quality people to come to fix my stuff. So, it’s good.

    The Carolina Air Heating & Cooling tech did a really good job. He was on time and got to the bottom of things, and it was real worth having them to come out. So far, we’ve had three claims with AHS. Two of them were preventive wherein we had pre-season checks and the other was an actual repair. With the repair, the contractor didn’t get to us as quickly as we thought. We certainly would have liked it if they had gotten there quicker than they did. We were down about 48 hours and it was in the middle of the heat wave when it was getting to be a 100 every day. So, it was bad for those couple of days.

    If you’re down, you’re down. And with the air conditioning and heat, that matters. With some things such as dishwasher, you can wash the dishes by hand. There are things that you can do with most stuff. But when it comes to heating and air, getting somebody there on a timely basis when you’re completely down would be appreciated. The contractor's timeliness on that one was not fabulous, but they did a great job when they got there and it has worked ever since.

    The washing machine was leaking inside and the leak started coming out of the bottom. It stopped working completely and then, the dryer was making a noise. I contacted American Home Shield and they got somebody scheduled to get out here. The guy who worked on it was good and it turned out they had to replace some kind of hose inside. He was very professional. When he got ready to go, he told me to give him a call if I had any more problems with it and that I could call him directly.

    After he left, when it was washing, it was kind of out of balance and so, I called. He said he would get right back over here and balance it, but my grandson happened to show up and he did it. So, I called the guy back and told him he didn’t have to come. I told him my grandson just had to adjust the stand on the bottom but he said he would come right out and get it fixed. AHS has been great. I just had a plumbing issue that came up over the weekend, and they scheduled somebody to come out first thing Monday morning.     The washing machine quit. We got ahold of Home Shield and told them what the deal was, then Quality Appliance came out and recommended replacing the unit because it wasn’t worth fixing. Home Shield allowed us $667 for another washing machine because I did not like the one they wanted to replace it with and that was their only washer they were gonna replace it with. We got the washer in but it took Home Shield almost four weeks to send us a check. But Home Shield improved in our last claim because they had a local contractor come and fix it. The time before, the contractor came out of Durango or Bayfield. They should continue to use local, and get rid of that automated computer talking thing to where you can talk to real people.

    There was a blockage in the ejector pump that we have, moving water from our basement to the main line. I noticed it when the alarm went off. Home Shield sent out Drain Masters and they were very friendly. They were able to find the problem right away, and they knew exactly what it was. They were able to get it fixed before the level got high enough to get water in the house. They got it quickly and they were on their way. They cleaned it quite a bit. We haven’t had any problems since.

    On the other hand, we had two issues with our HVAC system and Home Shield said neither of those would be covered. I paid the $89 deductible on both of those issues, and then I paid 89 on the ejector pump. So in the grand scheme of things, if I were to have to pay for the deductible each time and the cost of the warranty, we wouldn’t be that far ahead. And now, if Home Shield covered those, then that might be something. We would probably just pay out-of-pocket if and when the need arises for it. If it were something that I was gonna get into myself, I’d probably read through the contract. Since it was just given to us, I didn’t know that. Knowing upfront before Home Shield sends someone out if the problem was covered or not would be good. I’m gonna save myself that $90 each time if it wasn’t a covered issue.

    I don't like not being able to have the techs that I want to come out with AHS. If I've had a tech that I used before and I really like them, I should be able to use their service because I have a relationship with those people. But then, using my home warranty wouldn't allow me to do that. Also, if I have two units, if we were to have both serviced, it would be two service calls. I don't like that. Our house is pretty new and we've used things a couple of times. One time, I had the bulb go out in my microwave. I can't change it on my own and I have to have a tech do it. The bulb wasn't under warranty so I had to pay for it.

    More recently, United Air Temp Heating & Air Conditioning came out for AHS to service our claim for our AC unit. The tech was really kind and answered questions that I had.     A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out recently for a preseason checkup, and the process was very quick and easy. I just told them that I needed to see if there are any issues with the AC, and they scheduled a person to come out. The tech was very professional and timely. He checked everything and let us know of any additional issues outside the heating unit, and what they recommended was very helpful.

    I submitted two claims at American Home Shield the same day, another one for the GE dishwasher. That was not so good, but we ended up figuring it out. Before the techs came out, I decided to check myself to see if something was clogged that was causing the dishwasher to not drain. Before the guy even started to look at it, he said, “Doing that voids the warranty." It wasn't like I took a bunch of parts off of it. I just had to take the actual filter grate off, which I just screwed right back in without any issues. The guy was almost hesitant on even trying to look at it further because he said that that would have been voided.

    One of the guys that was with the main technician started looking underneath the sink, and he saw that it was a new garbage disposal that I had put in. They said that if I didn’t remove the cap that was within there for the dishwasher, then that was why it wasn’t draining. So, after they left, I was able to unplug the dishwasher and then find that cap to remove. Since then, it’s been fixed. It was just a little annoying with the guy that said he didn’t even wanna bother looking at it ‘cause the warranty’s voided.

    American Air fixed my AC problem and the tech was excellent. He had to reset something out in the unit itself. I'm glad they were the company sent this year and not the one they sent last year. That time, I was in the heat of summer and spent 2 weeks without my air. Supposedly, the tech couldn't get the new thermostat for 10 days and I kept getting the runaround from them. They kept saying, "It's on order. It's on order." And that I was first on the list when it comes in. I was, "Yeah, right." Then, they finally installed after a month. So when I called this year and put the order, I prayed it wasn't the same company. I even called them to get some information to see if the AC might still be under warranty and they said, "Oh, we don't know. We don't keep records back that far." In spite of that, everything worked out great this time. And AHS has been great too.

    My only gripe with any of these companies is that they all do the same thing. They send somebody, they have to look around, and then they have to leave, and then they come back in a week. I had a dishwasher problem where they came back, they had the wrong part. That went on to the point, but I lucked out and they gave me another dishwasher. But it's like I pay for it with my patience and time.

    I had a broken belt on a dryer, called the guy, I said it's a broken belt on a dryer. I'm in the 70's and I know what a broken belt on the dryer does. But they can't do anything. They have to come out, look at it and say that it's a broken belt on a dryer, and I told them that already. If they could've brought a couple of belts with them, it would've been a done deal. It took basically a month. And then when the contractor put the belt in, it broke again. When I called up and said that there was smoke, they said, "Really?" I wasn't that dumb. It made a noise, broke, and smoke. They put the belt on backwards. It's the reason I got rid of the other warranty company I had.

    American Home Shield is what I have now. I like that I can submit claims online as it's easier. I can put it in myself and I don't have to worry about being on hold. The air conditioning claim with them was so wonderful. The guy who came out from Union Express was fabulous, direct, to the point, professional, and courteous. He was right on the mark, told us that the unit was good, fixed the problem, left no mess. It was in-out and pleasant.

    When I renewed the warranty for the year with American Home Shield, they said they offered the routine maintenance on the air conditioner. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have thought of it. The process was very seamless and I'm impressed with them. AHS is a good company. It's very transparent. Their website is very easy to use and it's really clear. It defaults to a vendor but then you can click a dropdown menu and choose another vendor if you want. I've only had the contractors come out twice and whoever was assigned, the vendor who came was very professional, had the marked truck or vehicle and wore the shirt with the emblem or logo on it, which seemed very professional.

    J & J Mechanical came a few days after I filed a claim to AHS about an air conditioner issue. They were very good. However, there was a bit of miscommunication. We ended up working with them, but not through AHS. They said that they didn't wanna submit the claim to AHS, but they would replace our unit. We needed it to be fixed, so that's how we dealt with them. We've sorted it out with them and they have completed my claim. We ended up just eating the cost ourselves. We've had other repairs that have been done on the house by different contractors and all the times that we've been contracted with American Home Shield has been fine.

    The other home warranty we had was crappy. We had to almost have a fight with them to get something done and we wound up even paying money three different times on a stove, on a microwave, and on a washer. It also said under that warranty that if it couldn't be fixed, they would replace it with a comparable model, but they didn’t even wanna do that. So I started looking for a different warranty service and the folks at American Home Shield that I talked to seemed so much more pleasant and willing to provide us with the coverage we needed. We filled out all the stuff and told them what we needed. We’ve been with them ever since.

    Every claim we’ve submitted to AHS has been over the phone and that process is easier for me. We’ve had three different issues since we’ve had them and they’ve been right on the spot and take care of them with no questions asked. The contractors have been pretty good. The Action Plumbing, when they installed our water heater, made a couple of mistakes. But the damage was so extensive from our previous water heater that the bottom had blown out. The new water heater had to be removed because all our tiles needed to be removed. Then the contractors that rebuilt our house reinstalled the water heater and made the correction on it. So now, the overflow valve dumps into our crawl space beneath the house instead of where the line runs in. Other than that, everything has been just fine. American Home Shield has been above and beyond.

    I was told some false information by our home inspector about our thermostat. Foxcroft came out and said that our home inspector had no idea what he was talking about, and changed the switch and it worked. The guy was professional.     My furnace was out and when I submitted a claim with AHS, the techs came out quickly. Aside from that, AHS also sent out contractors who replaced the compressor on my air conditioner that's outside and I was happy with that. But when my dryer wasn’t heating up, the contractors would come out every two weeks and I kept telling them that it was not drying. They replaced this part and that part, then somebody else came and they also sent out a senior technician. It was a mess and they came out at least seven times before AHS decided to go ahead and give me a voucher or let me get another dryer.

    I eventually got a new dryer, but the experience was unreal. I was taking my time off of work then when these people come out, they give you a four-hour window of time, so here I was taking four hours repeatedly which was ridiculous. Other than that, I've been with AHS since 2009 and I never looked at anybody else. But you'll have a hard time getting out of the contract with them. I knew my contract started up again in August and sometime in May I'm gonna start looking for somebody else.

    Submitting claims is super easy and a seamless process. We just go online, fill in the information for the claim, and make our deductible payment. Within normally a couple of hours, we get a notice of who the contractor is that's coming out, and then the contractor calls to schedule the time with us. We like all the contractors that had come out to do the maintenance on the house as well.

    We are in the process of selling our home and our washer had an issue with the lid and it was also off balance.     I submitted a claim about a dishwasher and the way that AHS processed everything was very nice and quick. But the replacement items are not up-to-standard and I feel forced to get an upgrade to match what I have, instead of getting a replacement. But the replacement items are not up-to-standard and none of their options will allow a wood panel to be attached, which is what I have. I don't wanna put the stainless steel on white wood. The only thing I can do is to pay $320 to pick the next one item that is available for a wood panel installation which is one thing that I'm really annoyed about. It's my first time putting in a claim and I have a mixed feeling about it.

    I'm impressed with their prompt response to my questions but my least favorite is calling and waiting on the phone for a long time just to get somebody to talk to. The online process is perfect though and I like it. They also offered to inspect the furnaces before winter and I took advantage of it. The service guy checked all three furnaces and everything was up-to-date.

    I like everything about American Home Shield, so I've kept them so long. The customer service is great. I call to submit claims since speaking with a representative is more personal with me. I had tried email and sometimes that doesn’t work right as I can’t word it like I want. Sometimes I have to stay on the phone and wait, wait, wait, but that’s okay. At least they get the job done. Then when the service technicians come out, they are really good and I'm impressed with their knowledge. They explain to me what they're doing as well. I would leave them alone but they would come in and tell me what they're doing, and that pleases me ‘cause I have no idea what they're doing.

    Carter’s Air Conditioning Service came out for the air conditioner and the guy was thorough with everything. He has been out here before and I enjoyed him so much. He left me alone and I left him alone. Then there's only one contractor that I have had that I did not like, but it may had just been me or the time of day that he was out here so that’s okay. I just take a lot of things into consideration that it could be my fault.

    I brag so much on Facebook about American Home Shield. I tell about how good and how fast they have someone out here. In fact, one night, I was talking to a cousin and she said that she wanted something done to her garage door right at that time.     There are long wait times to get to somebody when we call, sometimes for an hour. But once we get past the phone call wait time and eventually talk to somebody, it pays off to just stay patient. We had issues with our oven-microwave combo and a cooktop where the burners on the cooktop kept sparking when we tried to light them. It would not stop even after the flame was ignited. Also, the microwave went out. After my wife submitted the claim online, we got someone in less than a week.     A while back, I had a gentleman come out and look at the air conditioner, and I was told that it wasn't covered. In order to fix the problem with the air conditioner, they quoted $1,800 and it wasn't covered by the warranty. The gentleman that came out said that they poked a hole in the line from the siding. So, therefore, it wasn't wear and tear. Then I asked another gentleman if he could look at it and he said he didn't see anything that was busted or any line that was damaged from the siding, so he recommended that I get a second opinion.

    The first time that I filed a claim, I spoke to an individual. But when I was having a problem with the heater, I went online. I felt I would get helped quicker. Submitting online was short, quick, to the point and I would do it again. All Appliance Service came out for my heater the same day I submitted the claim and the tech told me what he thought it was. He said, "I'm gonna show you how to get through until Monday 'cause I squeezed you in today. That way, you can still use the heater. And then, Monday, I'll come back and clean the coils, but at least you'll be able to use the heater until then." Now, everything seems to be running smoothly.

    The sewer lines were leaking into the basement.     We bought a used house that has a lot of furnaces, air conditioners, and other things. I thought to give American Home Shield a shot and see if it'll protect us from having any financial hardships. The only thing I don't like is that I need to look back and make sure I know everything that's covered. They should send a reminder email saying what's covered. That's where people get into the most trouble with these companies. They think the company has something covered, it breaks, the company doesn't cover it, and they get mad at the company. AHS can help themselves just by being over communicative on what customers are covered for.

    I called my first claim in, but I've done it online since then. I like how easy it is and how text automated it is. You know when people are coming out and you know when the claim is in. It takes two seconds to submit the claim and the people call right after they get the thing. And in terms of the contractors coming out, they've all been on it.

    Our hot water heater was not working. I submitted a claim online and AHS's website was very easy to navigate. However, I had an error message and I called. The contractor had an opening so they were able to come out that day and fix the problem. The contractor that came out was great. My wife met him at the house and the experience was all good. Since then, the hot water heater is functioning the way it's supposed to. We would have been taking cold showers and laundry, but we didn't because it was fixed in a few hours.

    When I submit a claim to American Home Shield, the service is very good. There was one time particularly when the company came out and the technician didn't have that much of a knowledge. But then when I put in a request, American Home Shield sent out another technician without any charge, and they took care of the problem. I used to have American Home Shield about three years go, but I was having a lot of issues back then. So I went with another company, and I realized that I was better off with American Home Shield, so I came back with them. And ever since I signed back with them, they have really improved a lot. When I put a service request in, they contact me right away and give me appointment within one or two days.

    AHS' contractor, A-1 Quality Care came out to the house for an air conditioner issue. The air conditioner was still working and the techs told me that the issue was the thermostat but it wasn't. It actually another issue. The first tech was really nice but then the second one was really rude so I had to take him out of my house. He gave me attitude. I contacted another company and the tech who came from there was really nice. He tried really hard. My the AC condenses water that has to go down a pipe that goes all the way to my sink. That pipe was clogged. The AC has a sensor and if it detects water trying to go up fast, the AC would stop working. The water was stuck because of dirt in the pipe and I fixed that issue myself.

    I have three properties and I used to have AHS on all of them. Recently, the warranty on one of my properties expired. I got a call from a rep and he gave me a special discount to renew my insurance with AHS on the property. I didn't have any card to pay at that time so I told him to call me at the end of that day. He never called me again. Still, AHS has been okay overall. I just go to my computer and it has been really easy to submit claims.

    I like the peace of mind and convenience of having American Home Shield. This is my second residence with them. However, in relation to our furnace repair, more communication would be helpful, as to what's covered and what’s not covered or is it going to be replaced. Then on my microwave claim, the contractor didn’t have the right part when he came out initially, even though he knew what microwave I had. That was inconvenient. We had to reschedule another day, which means I have to take another day off from work or schedule around it. Other than that, he was super polite, and everything else was great.

    Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was with the central air conditioning. The outside unit was shutting off and apparently, there were a few things wrong with the air conditioning unit. The coils were completely rusted out and leaking Freon. And then there was also some other thing that had to be replaced. I went through the phone to report the issue, and there was an automated process that found me as a customer and my address. It gave me options on what to select as my issue. It was very automated. So, the only time I’ve spoken to someone has been regarding a bill. Otherwise, it was a phone automation that seemed to work fine.

    If I’m calling American Home Shield about my bill, the reps are terrible, and it seems to be because the services must be offshored to another country. I have a very difficult time with the people answering the call as far as them really understanding what I’m asking about. So, whatever type of calls are going to that group are not very satisfactory.

    The contractor that came out from Grady’s Air Conditioning & Heating Services was very informative. While he was in the attic, he took pictures of what he was going to be telling me and he came down and showed me the pictures. I have plenty of questions because I’m becoming an air conditioning expert now, and not because I want to but I just have continuous issues here. And he took his time and patience to make sure I understood what was going on. He had to come three times. The first time, he came to evaluate it, but there was no time in the day to do what needed to be done, and he had to order the equipment. Then the second time, they came to install all of it. And then as soon as it was installed, the very next day, the same thing was happening with the outside unit turning off. So, he had to come out again.

    I should be pretty annoyed by that, but he made it not so bad because he was professional. But apparently, the guys that installed the new equipment didn’t blow out the drain pipe like they should have. And so, the same thing was happening again because they had skipped that one step. But I like Grady’s, and everything’s fine now.

    After all those incidents, I had to take off of work four solid days because the customer is on the company’s schedule, not vice versa. And so, all they could do is tell you they’ll be here in a range of five hours. I work from Houston, so if they call me at 8 o’clock and tell me they’re gonna be here at noon, I can’t hardly drive to Houston and then drive back home. It’s an hour to and an hour back. So, it would be pointless for me to try to go to work and then turn around and come back home. But the inability to be able to really have a scheduled appointment versus this range, it cost me a lot of money. It cost me a lot of PTO and it shouldn’t be like that. They called in advance and said they were coming. But that’s gotta be a big problem for a lot of people. And luckily, I won’t get fired in my position from missing work for four days, but a lot of people would. They would just have to suffer with whatever the problem is.

    The stove went out on my rental property in San Antonio and Gen Tech Appliances Repair came out. I had everything going through my tenant for them to communicate in time but I still got emails that were telling me when they were coming out.     The first time we had American Home Shield, it was chosen by our Realtor when we bought a new house. And we were happy with the service that we got. So when we moved, we bought it again on the new house. When we moved again, we bought it again. And then this time, we did the same thing because we had good experiences. I've always did my claims over the phone previously. But this last time, I did it online, and it was much easier.

    In the past in Florida, we had an issue with a contractor. But that wasn't American Home Shield's fault. It was the contractor's fault. They tore something up and didn't wanna fix it, but they did end up fixing what they broke. But the contractor that came out for the oven have been great. They've called me in advance, and they've been very accommodating with the time. It's Wright Appliance and they had to reschedule when they got the parts in. They called me immediately and let me know that my technician had been injured and was gonna be out for a couple of days, so they were sending somebody else at a different time, and they did a great job. American Home Shield has a great contractor here in the area and they really wanna do a good job. So they're doing it right.

    My washing machine was not working. It would turn on but it would not get through the cycle. I quit calling the rep because I was on hold for 60 or 70-minute, which was too frustrating. So, I went online and within 24 hours, I had a response. I was ready to change policies dealing with the representative, but I am so much happier doing it online. I've been an American Home Shield customer for 10 years and I've had claims from the past dealing with the representative that went on for 6 or 8 weeks. But since I've started doing it online, it was all resolved within weeks.

    The contractor came out a couple of days later and he was very nice and very knowledgeable. The washing machine is working now. I don't have to go to a Laundromat. I hope AHS could improve their hold time. They need more customer service reps to answer the phone because not everybody has access to computers. I've had bad experiences but the last two claims I've done online has been so much easier.

    Our garbage disposal was inoperative and would not drain because there was some clogging. Home Shield had a decent enough online claim process. But there was something about the form that could have been a little easier. It was something towards the end of being able to get more specifics like the comment section. There was something formulated that I thought could have been a little more intuitive. Otherwise, the process was fine.

    Home Shield sent out Wind Bender Mechanical Services for this claim. It took a little bit longer for them to reach out then it was gonna be several days out before they were able to make it. It was not an emergency but there was a very dire need on the drain issue. They were able to expedite and push up the appointment. A technician came the next day. They also texted and called when their technician was within half an hour out. The tech was able to diagnose the problem and it turned out that there was a piece of glass that was jamming the grinders. That was what caused everything to shut down and was causing our sink not to drain stuff. The tech got that fixed.

    All-American Services of Georgia did an excellent service for our furnace that wasn’t working. The tech came out, had to get a part to do a replacement, and came back out the next day. Since the repair, the furnace has been fine. American Home Shield's service is usually good too. There have been a couple of times that it seems that it took an excessive amount of time to get someone to come out. But that could just be whatever’s going on at the time.     I needed a gas line replaced on the furnace. I filed a claim to American Home Shield on a Friday and the contractor came out on a Monday. He was on time, very professional and knowledgeable. He wasn’t able to fix it though. It wasn’t something that was covered under the warranty. He told us it would cost us $300 to fix it. At this point, we’re just gonna wait to get it fixed.     I've had problems with some of AHS' other contractors that have been in the house. They had one that came to the house to fix something very simple but broke a very expensive appliance. I was told they could not fix it. American Home Shield was of no help too. They just said they could not warranty what their contractors did in our home. They were the ones that hired them and sent them out. They told me I had to go to the actual contractor that came out but that contractor would not take my calls. I had to go through filing a small claims court and everything against this contractor and got nowhere.

    I reached out to American Home Shield further down the road and had to go to higher-up management in order to get this item fixed, which they did. It was a big deal ordeal and took a long time to get it done. I was very upset with American Home Shield because they blew me off. I was told from upper management they no longer use that contractor. When I tried to have them served when I was filing a small claims court claim, which American Home Shield was the one that gave me their address, they could not be served because they were no longer there. The contractor kinda disappeared. But with my claim where GE Appliances came, it went very well. They were able to fix the issue. Everything went very smoothly. The rep was good when I called the claim in.

    American Home Shield is fine as far as submitting a claim. The people that I've talked to on the phone are nice. Recently the sink wouldn’t drain, and the guys from Wyatt Brothers came out with their snake. They got it to drain, and then a couple of weeks went by and we started having the same issue. So, I called again, the same guy came out and they got it. They ran their snake down there and got it drained, but he led me to believe that maybe their tool wasn’t big enough and that American Home Shield would have to get another plumber. Nonetheless, I liked him. He was talkative and was not just a stick-in-the-mud. He did what he could do to help me with my problem and then told me he wasn’t sure if he really fixed the problem.

    The gas valve on my furnace quit working. I filed a claim online late Friday night. Given the weekend, it was first thing Monday morning when they called me. Someone from De Hart Plumbing and Heating came and they were phenomenal. The contractor was there a good hour. On Friday, I was having the furnace checked to get ready for the season, and the contractor was there for 45 minutes. And that was when he discovered what the problem was because the furnace wasn’t kicking on like it was supposed to. It took a week and a half to get the new furnace in, and then they were there the better part of the day. The furnace works wonderful. It’s nice to have it, especially since it got cold.     Schubert's Appliance and Repair sent wonderful guys. I filed a claim to American Home Shield for my washing machine that was not functioning. And then, I misunderstood the American Home Shield representative. I thought they were telling me that I had to get a new washing machine. But then, I understood that that one could be fixed. And Schubert's Appliance had gone ahead and ordered the parts, which I'm glad they did because when I talked to them, and I talked to American Home Shield again, I understood that I didn't have to buy a new washing machine.

    At the time, my husband was going through a lot of illness. And so, I needed the washing machine really ASAP and couldn't quite get there. The gentleman that could fix it called me back and I was wondering, "Well, do you need the parts? Are you gonna fix it, or are you gonna get a new washing machine?" He said the part just came in. I thought it was wonderful because I really needed that washing machine fixed and ready to go due to the health issues that we were having at home. So, he came out, and they had to replace the drum, and I saw that the drum was broken at the back. It just cracked. And he was sharp and on the button. He got the parts, and it was fixed before you could say diddly squat. It works perfectly since then. It's like a new washing machine.

    The center rail in our refrigerator quit working because our refrigerator wouldn't close. American Home Shield sent Jones Family Appliance Repair, and my experience went fine. It was pretty straightforward. They came out and acknowledged that it was the center rail that was bad, said they would order another one and left, and about a week later, they came back and put the new one in. They fixed it in like 30 seconds. It took about a week, which wasn't excellent. However, I understand that they gotta order the part. They can't have every part for everything. I'm certainly not upset but it would have been nice had it been one day.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield for eight months and I’ve had claims for the washer and the oven. I went online and did the sign-up process. Then, I clicked on request service. They let me know the company that I would be working with, and that company gave me a call. The washer, which was repaired first, was not going through the rinse cycle, and the part was ordered in a timely manner and the washer was repaired very quickly. The convection oven stopped operating totally and something happened to one of the fans, which was repaired in a very timely manner. I’m not having any problem out of either one of them and I am satisfied with the work.

    What a difference a good contractor makes. American Home Shield dispatched Michael from Airmax heating and cooling to diagnose the problem. He was professional and ordered the part. Trish from the office was professional and patient every time I called to check status. She scheduled a tech for the fix in less than a week. Tyler the tech came to fix the furnace.     On October 16, 2019, I placed a service request for my gas furnace. It was making a very loud airplane noise when turned on. On Friday October 18th, Fast Response Heating and Cooling tech arrived. He said the Inducer Motor was shot as he called it. He advised he'd be ordering the part and advised I could pay him $120 outside of the $100 service call I'd paid to speed up the process. I refused since this is not American Shield's process. Fast Response advised if I did not pay I could be waiting over a month. This entire exchange was strange to me so I logged in to my account and found my service request had been closed out instead of the part being ordered.

    American Shield told me they would not replace the part because according to Fast Response the part had not failed yet so they do not consider the furnace to be malfunctioning according to the contract. The furnace is so loud you'd have to cover your ears and they consider that normal. I sent them a video. Fast Response said it's AHS refusing the repair as they told them the barrings in the inducer motor is going bad and the unit is failing. When I asked where in the contract it states it's not covered they could not point me to it. I have called over 4 times. The reps advised they will escalate and call me back, but no one does. They kept blaming each other and AHS offers me a second opinion that I must pay for as if that would change the diagnosis.

    Well the unit has now failed to put out heat and I have escalated via computer, phone and email to executive at AHS with no response from anyone at American Home Shield. I have called Fast Response who advised they'd call me back to schedule an appointment. It's been two days with no call back from Fast Response either. I call and get voicemail as no one is answering the phones and it's getting cold outside. I'd suggest anyone run from this company.

    The contractors they send to your home have a high rate of complaints with the BBB. Take a look at Fast Response Heating and Cooling. The BBB put out an alert on them saying "BBB files indicate this business has a pattern of complaints from consumers alleging: failure to provide or complete repair services, failure to honor warranties, and unsatisfactory customer service. BBB wrote to the business on September 9, 2019 requesting their voluntary cooperation in resolving."

    American Home Shield hires these kind of contractors for a reason. It keeps them from honoring their contract with us. You can't appeal to their sense of ethics and fair business practice. This company plays the game of big business wins and customers lose after taking your money for years while tripping you up on words, strong arming you into taking less and frustrating you into giving up! Peace of mind is definitely NOT what they are selling!! They make you feel like you're dealing with the enemy and he has everyone on his side so you're going to lose before you start playing his game and he will punish you for daring to complain about fair play...RUN!!

    The heat wouldn’t come on when we turned it on. I called American Home Shield to file a claim. They were excellent. The contractor from A-US Air was very professional and very nice.
