The house that I just bought is 34 years old so, all the appliances, except for the refrigerator, are 30 years old or older. Some of them weren’t even working and AHS replaced them after Tri-City came out, looked, and said they couldn't touch the appliances. I have had my cooktop, dishwasher, range hood, and a double convection oven replaced. I was able to pick the appliances that I wanted. They said either I could pick them and they would pay me a certain percentage of it or they could pick and they would deliver, install, and remove my old appliances. It has been a mixture of all those in what was needed and done. John at Tri-City Appliances is excellent, very knowledgeable, and quite a handyman when it comes to removing things, placing them, replacing parts on them, and fixing them. And I have only paid $75 for each time and just reaped many, many more savings in thousands of dollars passed that $75.
On the refrigerator claim, there was a lightning strike and the refrigerator went out. I called, paid the amount, and they sent somebody out. The guy looked at it and got it working, but it was something on the motherboard, so they fixed it temporarily. Then, they ordered a motherboard and the motherboard itself would’ve been something like $400. They came back out and replaced the motherboard and we haven’t had any trouble with the refrigerator since.
I have a very nice, wonderful house sitting on top of the hill and it’s like a lightning magnet. So, I’ve had a lot of electrical work done to make sure it doesn’t happen again, but if it does, I’ll be glad to call them and have them come back out and fix whatever’s affected. AHS is excellent and all their people are nice on the phone. I have a well and they even protected my well. I recommend them to everybody.
Good Morning James,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

When I submitted my first claim, I did it over the phone because I didn't wanna mess anything up. Our ice maker was overflowing and when the tech opened it up, I said, "I think the frost is not working." But he said that it was our ice maker and he was right. It was frozen up and he helped me get all the stuff out of it. He asked for a towel so he wouldn't make a mess on the floor and cleaned it up. He had to order it then he came back three days later to put it in.
Hi Gregory,
I am glad to hear about your most recent American Home Shield claim and the ice maker that was repaired. I hope you continue to enjoy the contractors that AHS provides.

The boiler fan went out and had to be replaced. It took four days to resolve the issue, which wasn’t very long. Harkins AC, Heating and Controls had to get the part in and as soon as the part came in, they came back. The technician was great and with American Home Shield, the process to submit a claim is very easy. I very much appreciate that I always get a call really fast. So I love it.
Good Morning Alicia,
Your feedback is more than appreciated. We are glad to hear about your experience and the repairs that are complete.

I used American Home Shield’s web portal to set up the service call and everything went great with that side of it but the gentleman from All Brands was not knowledgeable. He told me that there was a part missing on the dishwasher and he said that AHS doesn’t cover missing parts, and he left. I called American Home Shield and explained to them that prior to the problem, it had been a brand-new dishwasher. It was installed here by Sears and they’d been in my house the whole time, so there were no missing parts. I said I would like a second opinion so, they sent out the second company. They said that if it was a missing part that was causing the problem, I would be billed for the second call but otherwise, the second company would just repair it at that time.
The second company that came out was Casey’s, and they found that the gentleman who first came out was wrong. They fixed the problem and there was no additional charge to me. Casey’s is an adept appliance service and if I had to have someone come in the house again, I would request them. They’re one of the better service technicians who has come out and worked on anything here at my house. American Home Shield handled it and I requested the All Brands Appliance be noted on my account that I don’t want them coming back out at my house. In talking to some service techs in the area, All Brands is not one of the better companies.
I had an issue over the weekend and I probably didn’t push hard enough as an emergency situation. I have a daughter who’s disabled and my washing machine went down and at the same time, I had a leak in my hot water heater. I put in a request online and the rep from AHS said that someone would call me within 24 hours and/or if I need an emergency care, they gave me a number to a company that was gonna be dispatched. I called that number and couldn’t get a hold of anybody. So, I cancelled the request and called my own plumber and had it handled.
With my daughter, I can’t be without hot water and the washing machine. The washing machine ended up being handled in a very timely manner that it wasn’t an issue. It wasn’t a flooding situation but in our case, it was an emergency that we have to have services here at the house. I’m not able to leave because I gotta take care of things here. So, it would be helpful if there was a way for me to notate that on my account.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since September and I can see the value in having a home warranty. The operators were responsive when I submitted a claim on an electric issue and everything went great. The gentleman from Light It Up Electric was friendly, nice and talkative. The technicians from All Day Comfort Heating & Cooling knew what they were doing and they did a good job. They cleaned the starter ignition of the furnace and checked it. It was down in the bottom section and there was a bell right there, which he flipped and the gas came back on. One of the guys called it in and had the other guy pick it up and he was here within 10 minutes. American Home Shield has also done the icemaker for me and some other things.

We've had AHS for 15 years now. Every time something's come up, they've taken care of it. The only time we had a problem was with our oven, but they did try to come out and fix it a few times, and then they finally decided it needed to be replaced. Then we had a claim for a heating issue and Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery had to replace something. They came back out and did it two days later. The claims process was a great process. Everything went fine.
Hi Wendee,
I would like to thank you for providing American Home Shield with such positive feedback about your most recent experience. Your patronage of 15 years is more than appreciated and I hope you continue to have more good experiences!

We run into difficulty with another home warranty so we switched. So far, we've had good and prompt service from American Home Shield. We have been pleased. Their monthly fee went up a little bit this year, from $50 something up to 63, but I guess that’s not to be unexpected. When we had a water leak behind the refrigerator servicing the icemaker, they did a great job. The contractor didn’t have the part and they went to a local hardware store and picked up the part that was needed and came back and fixed it.

I had my filtration system on my pool. It’s a fiberglass thing, and it was broken and leaking. Green Valley Pool & Patio came out and looked at it and told me what was wrong and what was needed to be done. And they responded to it quickly. Usually, I do my claim with AHS online. It’s easier. Green Valley came within two days after I did my claim. They didn’t need to get inside my home because it’s an outside thing, so I was able to just allow them access to get in here to fix it without me being here. So, that was nice. They did good work outside. I’ve looked at what they had done, and what I know about it, I didn’t see any problems. My pool seems to be working great now.
I had one kind of bad experience with another contractor that did some work on a washer. They did some inaccurate repairs. There was a part laying behind my washer, and I questioned them about it. I didn’t want them back in my house after that. I let AHS know about that because I noticed that the work order has never been closed out.

That claim went pretty well. Also, my washing machine went out and I'm waiting for AHS to deliver a new one. THey're accurate and they believe in taking care of their customers.

It took a while for AHS to do their due diligence but they came through in the end. I now believe firmly in the power of the pen. Thank you Consumer Affairs. The initial process of scheduling my repair and the work of the appliance company was fantastic. It was AHS Costumer Service that led to this review. They we unable to resolve my issue or provide any accurate information. After the review was posted Darika was allocated to my issue and she was fantastic. She kept me informed and worked to get my issue resolved. Thank you Darika !!. I still will only upgrade to 3 stars because I believe AHS needs to evaluate their first call costumer service. Our family will continue to use AHS. Thanks again Darika.

AHS does not pay the reimbursement if you decide to use the cash out option. I opted for the cash out option because we wanted a different dryer than they were offering. We provided the receipts to AHS on Oct, 4 2019. AHS did not process them until OCT, 14 2019. It is now Nov, 21 2019 and we still have not received our money. In their options letter to us it stated we would receive our money in 14 business days. It has now been 27 business days and they know nothing of the check. I have called multiple times and wasted countless hours on hold for them to tell me they are going to escalate. But nothing has been done to rectify this.
They take the money out my account promptly every month but fail to uphold their end of the deal. Seems like another shady insurance company prolonging their end of the deal. We live on a budget and this money is very important to us as i am sure it is with most families. Just want people to know what they are getting into with this company. Worst customer service ever, even worse than the cable companies.
Good afternoon Brad,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

American Home Shield denied my A/C unit repair due to “vandalism” on 11.20.2019. The event happened when my A/C got the problem. On July 13, 2019 when first time my A/C stop working, I called AHS, the representative send Contractor A ---LA Standard HVAC started the repairs due to no cool air produced, finally A condenser and 4 pounds of Freon was replaced on August 2, 2019. During the service period, Contractor A lied to both AHS and me about the no shows on the scheduled appointments, exaggerate the findings, poor services and unbelievable charges I have to pay except the insurance part of $485.
On October 23, 2019, with the same problem as happened in July 2019, AHS dispatched Contractor B --–True Master Inc. the True master Inc. checked but did not got it work on October 25, 2019, Then Contractor C --–The Advance Heating and Cooling Company was dispatched on November 2, 2019 --- and Contractor A with multiple times just to diagnosis the problem. Since the Contractor B reported to the AHS said my A/C unit is not repairable and need replace with a new unit. AHS fired Contractor B. Considering that my unit first time was repaired by contract A and also because of Contractor C don’t want do the service. Contractor C said Contractor A should be responsible for continue the service. Then AHS dispatched the Contractor A again to diagnosis. Three Vendors, total 7 times, including 2 times transparently/without any notice and appointments from Contractor A.
Finally on 11.19.2019, the contractor A told me “no worries, we will take care of your A/C” in less than 5 minutes upon arriving. When I asked what the problem is and why so fast, the tech said he came a week ago and someone cut off the wires and took off the caps, so the entire unit is damaged. He also pointed that He left a measuring on the unit to prove he was there before. He suspected the services vendor did before him. He assured me that AHS will find out who did it and who will respond for the repair/replacement.
Suddenly, On 11.20,2019, AHS informed me that the AC repair claim is denied due to vandalism. I asked AHS what happened and why is “vandalism”. AHS said that’s based on Contractor A’s report. So I quested AHS to provide those 3 reports from those three visiting services vendors, but AHS representatives refused. Since the first 2 contactors didn’t, never mention that wires were cut off and missing caps at all. Both contractor A and I truly believe that AHS should be responsible for this “vandalism” since that’s multiple services contactors dispatched by AHS. AHS should be respond for my AC repair/replacement the first time and current one according to my policy plan, total more than 12 times my time loss. I request a total of $ 8020 settlement that including: A/C repairs and/or replacement, and my time loss compensation.

I bought this house on April 1st, and I had it inspected. We moved in on April 1st. And I had the gas company come in and check the heater and turn it on because they had to turn the water heater on. We’re transferring over service. And the guys said that they couldn’t turn on the gas because it would leak, and I needed to get that fixed before I hook up the gas line. I told them I don’t need the heater on in the summer time. It was already weather changing. So they hooked up the water heater, but left off the furnace.
I told the guy that was sent by Home Shield to check the unit thoroughly. The guy that installed this had five years experience when it should’ve been the guy that had 25 years experience. It’s just an air that’s open, and they should’ve caught this during the installation. It was just the bottom of the vent. The claim was a starting point for me, knowing what the unit’s about. So I was very satisfied and happy. I know what’s going on and what to watch out for. The unit’s brand new, and it’s a furnace.
The only thing is Home Shield sent two companies. I was at work and I couldn’t answer the phone. They said they wanted to schedule an appointment. So the first one, I scheduled it. They said the tech would be between 12:00 and 2:00, and he was here at 12:00. And then I got asked later on what time would I like them to come over. I told the the guy was here already. So, I guess it was open for anybody who wanted to come over here. That was the confusing part. But once I got it done, I found out what it was about.
The tech who came out explained to me. He talked to me and told me he wasn’t gonna charge me because it was a simple repair, but that Home Shield was gonna charge me $75. He also said, “I’m glad you look at it like that. Other people would raise hell about it.” He was really nice to me. I set the furnace up at 78, and it kicked on. And it was really quiet, and it warmed up the house really quickly. But that was just a test. It hasn’t really been cold. So, we really don’t need it. Gas warms up the house right now. Overall, Home Shield treated me nicely. I’d recommend them.

My contract number is **. I previously complained about Ace Garage Door Repair and Installation, who not only did not fix the problem, but tried to get me to buy $150 worth of new rollers for the garage door. I called a local company who came and fixed the opener for less than the $75 service fee I paid AHS. I also complained about Perry Mechanical when they failed to appear for an appointment. Not even the courtesy of a call. They eventually came a couple of days later and did fix the problem at hand.
I had another AC problem which caused me to contact AHS again and they again assigned me to Perry Mechanical. They diagnosed a condenser leak and took the condenser to the shop for repair a week ago. When I called today, Perry said perhaps by Friday. Another poor performance by an AHS service provider. I am now seriously considering cancelling our warranty plan due the AHS inability to attract and retain competent service providers. Frustrated customer, Paul **

I had AHS for years and they would cover your standard, low priced fixes and maintenance. However, whenever it was something that they were supposed to cover according to their contract, they would find some loophole to say they won't cover it. Example 1: Refrigerator door hinge broke on a Viking Fridge. The repairman they sent even said "I never work on Viking" but would only tell us that AHS would contact us about fixing it. AHS contacted us and said it was due to abnormal wear and tear and was our responsibility. I asked them what that meant and if they thought we swung from the doors or something. They only offered someone to give a second opinion that would ultimately give the same assessment. I reached out to Viking and they checked the serial number and said there was a recall because those hinges broke and sent someone out to fix it for free!
Example 2: The dishwasher wasn't washing well. A repairman was sent out and he said he found a hole in a hose at the bottom. I was unable to see a hole from his phone's picture but trusted him that it was there. He proceeded to say the hole was created by a rat and it would not be covered. I told him there are no rats in the house and even had him check and note on the invoice that no droppings were found anywhere. There was absolutely no evidence of rats but I guess he needed a reason to deny the claim and something that makes sense like the vibration while running causing rubbing against another object would probably. Make too much sense.
Example 3: The HVAC unit was not blowing cold air. Just before it went out, we heard squealing from the copper hose and, when we checked, we found it had bent and caused a crack in the piping. We pointed it out to the repairman but he decided to climb onto the roof to check the unit. He proceeded to explain that someone had taken off caps from the HVAC unit on the roof (we never sent anyone up there so we must have purchased the house that way many years prior plus it wasn't the cause as we had already found the cause) and so it would not be covered. Big surprise.
We were paying a good amount every month plus $75 or so for every time a repairman would come out just to tell us it wouldn't be covered. It was obvious to us we had been wasting our money. Our money would be better spent doing our homework (i.e. recalls) or purchasing new equipment or *good* repairmen (every repairmen come from third party companies, all of which have extremely low ratings on yelp, google, and other sites). My recommendation is that you save your money. The cost for maintenance or minor repairs (seemingly, the only thing they covered) would be far less than the monthly payments I had put into this terrible company.

I thought American Home Shield's contractor was coming to fix the leaking pipe, but they just sent someone to observe what was wrong underneath the house. He did a good job of that, though. He took pictures, wrote up a diagnosis of the issue and then told me that it would have to be submitted to American Home Shield to see if they would fix my leaking pipe. In about 24 hours, American Home Shield called but I wasn’t able to take it, so they left a message. They said they would not cover the cracked and leaking pipe because the brackets that had held the pipe had not been secured properly and over the course of time, gravity had made it insufficient to hold up the pipe. But that’s why I had insurance. I don’t crawl under the house. And I don’t understand why they wouldn’t fix a leaking pipe and bolster these brackets up again.
It seemed like I had been paying monthly payments for this protection but they came up with an excuse not to fix my plumbing when I needed it. They said, “Protect your plumbing, your electrical, water heater, etc.” And I also had to pay $125 for this plumber to do his diagnosis that they would decline. I have since called a contractor, because I have to have the pipe fixed, and I was given an estimate. Of course, this is a more expensive repair. They told me that I could pay their plumber out of my pocket, and the charges for that were 50% more than the estimate I’ve been given by a general contractor. I had also called American Home Shield for a minor toilet repair, which they did, but I also paid $125 for that. I’m sure they made money on that deal.
Susan,
I am sorry that we were not able to offer a resolution that you were pleased with while the contract was active. We hope this experience does not deter you from considering AHS in the future for your home warranty needs.

I had American Home Shield back in Maryland a number of years ago and I was very disappointed. Since I've had it here in Delaware, I've been very pleased. The claims process has been easy. I go online and do it 'cause sometimes, that might be at 11 o'clock at night. I've had that happen before and I've been able to request at 11 o'clock at night, then get a response the next morning. Recently they honored what they said they would do. I had to pay for upgrades for the heat pump and I bought a new one, but I was pleased with the financial support that they gave. The contractor company was very good, they were very professional and showed up when I needed them to be there.

I called American Home Shield and I went through a couple of prompts, but then I ended up talking to a lady who was great. The guy from Max Air Heating & Cooling came to fix it and he replaced the blower motor, and it has been working great so far. I had American Home Shield for five or six years and then I cancelled. Now, I came back on again. My daughter also has them and she has been with them for almost 10 years. Having a warranty is valuable -- it’s a lot cheaper going through a home warranty than trying to replace your appliances.

We had trouble with the inside unit of the HVAC system as it was making unusual noises. As I prefer the phone, I called AHS and their reps have been really good. Then, Nova HVAC came out and the tech basically tracked the noise down. He did his job, he basically told me what needed to be fixed, and then he went out to his truck to get the part. He fixed the problem and that was exactly what we wanted. We're pleased with the AHS service all the way around.

We had a toaster oven, and it popped a circuit every time we turned it in. When I called American Home Shield for repair, I got somebody that I couldn’t understand. I don’t know what kind of accent they had. And they told me that A to Z Electric fixes toaster ovens and apparently, AHS don’t cover those. A to Z Electric came out and they said they don’t fix toaster ovens and that the person I talked to was wrong. He had never even worked on a toaster oven. He didn’t know how. So, that was the issue that wasted my time and their time. It was not a good experience.
As it turned out, my toaster oven was under warranty. I’ve had it for three years. I didn’t know it was warrantied for five years. I sent Wolf my oven and they are sending me a new one. AHS was gonna take the deductible fee off. Overall, it’s hard to get through to AHS to talk to somebody, and I really like to talk to somebody in this country. The people I spoke with were very difficult to understand.

We've had American Home Shield for a long time. We've had issues with them in the past but lately, they've been getting better. Most of the time, the customer service is relatively decent in terms of turnaround. They usually get folks out pretty quick. Although sometimes, the companies that they hire aren't all that up to snuff in terms of answering. In general, four out of five times, the guys will be quick and they would turnaround stuff pretty quick. Occasionally, they would get a guy that just doesn't answer calls and it's almost impossible to get ahold of.
When you get on their website, it's very hard to talk to a human being. And then, when you try to get something done, they have procedures in place that make it almost impossible. I wanted to email them back something, and they said, "No. We have to mail you this form, and then you have to fill out the form and send it back." It was gonna add a week or two to the process, where we could've gotten it done in a day if I could've just emailed it back to them the same day. It's archaic processes like that that are problematic.
They should make it easier to talk to a human when you have questions rather than try to go online. Their website's relatively byzantine. You have to go through multiple fields half the time to find the office that you're looking for to talk to. I tried three different logons with them to get to what I'm looking for, and then it appears it's a different URL, but it all runs back to the same place. Fifteen years ago, I had a major issue with them where they did not fix an air conditioning unit for me, and it cost me 13 grand out of pocket. I finally got some money back, but it was multiple years later because of the class action suit.

This is my first experience with American Home Shield, and so far, it has been going poorly to average. My refrigerator model is no longer being made, and so they couldn't order the part they needed for it. They said they were going to reimburse us when we buy one and they told me the amount. They said they would be following up but they never had. The claim has been open for about a month and a half now, and I don't mind the time frame, but I would want to know what they're doing. The only communication I’ve had is when I reach out to them.

I called American Home Shield and the claim was processed quickly. Submitting it was fairly easy. An appointment was set up, and the tech from D&J Services came out and determined what was wrong with the double oven. About a week later, the parts had come in and he had to reschedule once, which was not a problem. They then came back out and knocked it out, so it was good. There were times I called American Home Shield and asked questions that did not seem like they were able to answer. But once the technician came out, we talked through it with him, so it was not a big deal. Overall, the process works fairly well. To those considering a policy, know what is covered and what is not. We read the agreement and we might had a question or two, but it was straightforward.

The people at Home Shield were good. They've been fair with me. Their deductibles seems to be fair. The only thing that is kinda bad the location of my home is located. It's kind of at the very south point of the county, so it is hard to get somebody to commit. Sometimes, it may take an extra day or two to find a contractor to commit and go down here. The major area where you're gonna find all of the contractors is about a 60-mile drive. So I don't blame Home Shield for that. I get it. When I had a heating concern, it took a few days to get somebody, but they pulled through and they got somebody, and I'm totally fine with that.
They've sent out Jets Electrical for a claim and they were awesome. I've had them out for a previous repair on a different issue, and they were good. The gentleman that came out was very professional, very clean, very polite and very knowledgeable. He was very awesome and very thorough. He did the fix on the first visit. So if somebody else needed something, I would definitely refer them.

I'm very happy with American Home Shield. They are true to their word when the situation is dropped on their lap and they perform accordingly. They are outstanding and as a matter of fact, I just renewed my contract for another year. When the decorative light that sat under the carport, the main entrance of the house, fell, A&S Electric wasn't able to get the exact design or model, but they got something very similar to it and they were able to install it. It was perfect and I love the outcome.
I called this claim in and spoke with a representative who was excellent and very informative. I was very satisfied. Within 24 hours, the contractor came. Everything worked well. The girl who was in charge of my case had to first look for the light fixture. She was very prompt in calling me and telling me what they were going to do for me. She kept me informed about the status of the light. Once the light came in, she gave me a date when they would install it, then sure and behold, they were there that same day, at that time. They're very good at what they do.

We bought the house in June and we've had it covered with American Home Shield since July. The previous homeowners were not gonna get a warranty for us and we have an older air conditioning system. We wanted to make sure that it was covered and if anything would happen, such as the furnace going out. We had AHS for our last home and the name was put to us before. I did a quick warranty search and AHS looked familiar, and we selected them. When our furnace went out, I submitted a claim online to AHS. It was confusing at first. I think there was a delay in the email or I just didn't see the email. But eventually, the contractor called me within 24 hours. When the technician came out, the original part that he put on didn’t completely fix the problem and the other part that he believed was wrong that was needed to be fixed, he wasn’t gonna have the part put. He had surgery the next day, so he wasn’t able to complete the service all the way through.

Submitting my claims online is the easiest for me, but the quality of some contractors they send out is not that great. I’ve seen it more with HVAC people than with other contractors though. The electrician from Frank’s Electric was great. He came out and helped us out with not just the issue we called them out on. He didn't charge us for it too. He was honest. Where I had my old contract, there was an electrician that came out and he was great too.

My refrigerator stopped cooling sometime in October and I called American Home Shield. They referred me to Express Appliance and a gentleman was sent out. He took a look at the refrigerator and said that the compressor was still working but something else was going on so they need to send out a certified technician. Another week went by, I waited for the certified technician and he came out. He looked at the compressor and he said that I need a new compressor. He pushed the refrigerator back, he left and the plan was for them to order a compressor for me.
Another week went by and in the interim when he left, when I walked into the kitchen, he tore the vinyl flooring when he pulled the refrigerator out or when he pushed it back. So, I called Express Appliance and told them that the very nice young man tore my flooring. I was instructed to take pictures and send the pictures via email and I did. I never heard back from anybody and started calling the home warranty people to see if they could find out something for me. They were useless. I got a lawyer involved and all of a sudden people were doing their job.
The third Express Appliance man came out and the compressor had arrived at my house. I told him that I was gonna run out and get some coffee. When I came back from getting coffee, he was gone. I walked in and I asked my mother where he went. She said she didn’t know and that he was there. I told her that he was gone and I called the appliance company. The person said that the technician didn’t feel like he could move the refrigerator because he didn’t wanna further damage the floor. I asked why he didn’t tell my mother that he was leaving. They told me that he tried to tell her but she didn’t understand him. We’re Spanish, so he was implying that she had this thick accent. I’m a college professor and my mother is an educated woman. She understands English and Spanish beautifully so, there was no communication problem. He never said goodbye to her. He sneaked out of the house and his behavior was a little suspect.
Now, it’s beyond three weeks. I called the lawyer and told him what was going on. Finally, after a lot of emails back and forth, AHS issued me the money to get a new refrigerator. I was without a refrigerator for over a month and living out of ice coolers. I purchased a new fridge and I got the reimbursement check from American Home Shield. I was given an allowance of up to $1,500. They sent a gentleman out to assess the damage to my floor. He came out on a Saturday, he measured and left. I have yet to hear anything on when they’re coming out to replace the flooring that they damaged. So, it’s still not resolved.
The rep came out a couple of Saturdays ago and it has been over a week I haven’t heard anything. So, I’ll be contacting my attorney again. American Home Shield kept telling me that this is between me and Express Appliance. But AHS is where the buck stopped and they’re the company that I have my home insurance through. This was coming from Brenda, one of the administrators for American Home Shield.
I’d been with AHS since I purchased the home in October 2017 and it’s coming on two years. I purchased the home insurance because I’m a single mother. I’m a professional. I’m a college professor and I don’t tinker with plumbing and anything to do with all the different appliances and systems that American Home Shield covered. I don’t pretend to know how to fix those things, which is why I have coverage. My son just became a real estate agent and he told me that he will never recommend American Home Shield. We’re not finished with this ordeal. So, I’m not going anywhere until this is finished. And even then, after it’s completed, let’s see what happens.
Good Morning Linda,
I am saddened to hear that your experience with AHS was not satisfactory. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

We have a claim that's been going on since June about our ceiling fans. We had an electrician come out and checked the fans. He said they were broken and we needed new ones, and then I hadn’t heard from him. I was calling back and forth with American Home Shield, and then they sent me another electrician which came to the same results. Then he never put in a claim. He texted me that he was injured, and it might take longer now, so he was not able to come out and fix it. So, my ceiling fans are still not fixed. I talked to American Home Shield two weeks ago, and they'd always tell me the same thing, they have to leave a message with the contractor, and then they have to wait and see, and then I have to call back, and then I have to call them again. It’s always back and forth until something happens and they never call me back.
I guess it kinda depends on the contractor you’re gonna get if they follow up with the instructions they’re supposed to do. That’s probably the biggest problem. The only thing I wish American Home Shield would do is that if they could follow up with me more often, or with the people, especially if my claim’s ongoing since June. But I always have to wait in line, I always have to call them, and then nobody follows up on anything.
We already had American Home Shield in our first home. This is our second home now. There were a few things that broke down on us when we moved in, and then American Home Shield was fabulous with everything. They replaced it, and they fixed it. I was really satisfied with the company until the issue with my ceiling fans happened because it’s been a really long wait. We’re really disappointed right now. My husband's not even sure if we should continue with American Home Shield for the next year now ‘cause our contract’s gonna expire here at the end of December.

American Home Shield referred us to NW Sundance Services, but they couldn't come out for weeks, so I called them back and they sent us somebody else. They called me Sunday about an appointment on Monday. They still had me down even though I was told that that had been cancelled and transferred to another plumber. And the other plumber came out the next day and fixed the problem.
I have had a few different issues that I’ve gone to the warranty company for lately. And they’ve been great. When the plumbing company said, “We can’t be up there till December,” and I’m like, “No, I need this done now,” they quickly got me another plumber who came up the next day. The process of submitting a claim is very easy because you can do it online. And then on one issue, I wasn’t sure how to put it online, so I called them and they helped me over the phone.
I’ve been happy with everybody. The contractors have been great. All the workers have been fantastic. I have a house full of animals. So, we’ve been shutting dogs away here and I always tell them, “Make sure the door is closed ‘cause the cats will get out.” They’ve all been really very helpful, explaining what's going on. I’ve got a few things that they couldn't fix, and I got them new. And they pretty much explained the process like on the dishwasher. I had that replaced. And the guy explained that my dishwasher’s very old and he couldn't find the piece.
But I asked, “Does that mean I’m getting a new one?” He goes, “No. We send it back to the warranty company and they will try to locate the piece ‘cause we don’t know yet. It usually takes about a week for them to do the research, and then somebody will get in touch with you.” He explained it even though he wasn’t with the warranty company. He knew exactly how it worked. So, that was really helpful.
When we bought this home in 2017, it came with the warranty. When it came out for renewal, I definitely renewed it. And this year, as things are breaking, that has really paid off. So, I would encourage anybody, if you’re buying a home and you’ve got these appliances, you don’t know how old they are, that warranty is so worth it. And they don’t jack you around. I think that’s what most people go on paying all this money and there's no guarantee. I can understand where people would be hesitant. But 2-10 has really been great for us, so we will probably keep it for a very long time.

American Home Shield has been very handy. I know whatever the problem is, I can get it done. Recently, the door that lets the ice from the ice maker come out of the freezer for it had broken. The freezer was also getting frosty with ice because air was getting up in it. I filed the claim online and the website told me who the company would be and that they would contact me within 24 hours or so. Stuart’s Appliance arrived and the serviceman who came out was absolutely wonderful, personable and professional. When he realized he couldn’t do what he needed to do, he told me exactly that he would order the parts and it might take a couple of days to get the part in.
Unfortunately, it was a holiday weekend that time and the place he normally orders his part from was closed up for two days. But then, I found out that American Home Shield actually ordered it which took a little bit longer. However, I got my part and he told me how to keep that air from going up the chute and frosting up my freezer. Everything’s been fine since then.

As soon as he went up there, he knew what it was and fixed it right away. It was a little cord that come loose up in my attic, and so it was an easy and quick fix. He was in my house for less than an hour and I didn't have to pay anything. Since the repair, everything has been fine.

So American Home Shield, I have had them for 4 years or so now, paid every month, and only had to call them one time to have the air conditioner looked at. Set up the appointment, a great technician came out, fixed what was wrong, and no problems. Recently my washer broke, so I took it apart, figured out what was wrong and that it was going to be most likely needing to be replaced. No worries, set up an appointment, a great technician came out looked at it, and also agreed most likely it would just be replaced as the fix would be expensive and time consuming. So I figured no worries, it would not take long, after 24 hours I looked and it says "authorization under review" and after a full day I figured this would be pretty easy to have a decision from them.
So I called customer service to see how long I would be waiting on an answer from them. After going through the automated phone service to find my contract number. A lady on the phone immediately asks me for the exact information I just put into the automated system. I was obviously irritated that I was being asked for the same information twice, no problem though, the lady literally hung up on me. Ok...great, it was going to be this type of customer service experience. Called back, next lady again did the same thing, and I asked why they need my information again if I just put it into the system? So her response was clearly scripted, and she did not know how to answer me according to her script, so she kind of muddled through responding without answering anything.
She immediately again asked for the same information, and after being hung up on one time already, I just asked to speak to a supervisor. After asking three times, to do this and her continuing to try and not let me do that, she simply stuck me on hold and left me on hold. Eventually I hung up to write this review. Currently trying to get an answer to a very simple question from someone on their "live chat"...so far, it does not appear this will be much better.
So in Summary, they go through great technicians, but not surprisingly, their customer service seems to be miserable to deal with and about on par with Comcast. And I am seriously hoping that they don't take a week to make a decision of which I am just waiting to figure out if I need to go buy a new one or not... That would be very irritating.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

Since purchasing our Home Warranty with American Home Shield, we have made two calls for service in the 6 months that we have has it. The first was when our HVAC unit was struggling to keep our home below 82 degrees. The contractor that AHS called was more than sub-par and had to come from over 30 miles away to even take a look at our issue. The contractor had no interest in staying longer than 10 minutes to diagnose the problem because as he said, "they tie our hands as far as what we can do". His diagnosis was to remove the Hepa filter that I had replaced just a few weeks prior with a cheaper one, close the shades in the house, and hope it gets cooler outside.
The second contractor sent was a plumber. We needed a shower handle replaced because it had complete fallen off and could not be put back on enough to operate the valve. We had done what we could to shut the water off and keep it from running. The plumber that was sent (again from outside of our area by 20 miles) said that our plumbing was old and they could only put the handle back on and that I should hope that it would stay. He said that the valves should be replaced in order for it to ever work properly but that kind of work was not covered.
So if you are looking for a warranty that actually covers your home, go elsewhere. The services that have been offered to us, have been with contractors that have had limited resources, limited abilities, and came from areas well outside any reasonable service range. AHS was glad to take our money for each service call deductible (Which had to be paid before you get off the call with the AHS agent) as well as for the warranty itself with the hopes that the buyer will just get frustrated and stop calling them.
Johnny,
I apologize that your experience with us was not satisfactory. I have sent an email to you hoping to engage more toward a resolution for your issue. Please respond to that email for further assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

I purchased American Home Shield Home Warranty for the first year we moved into our home. The first two times I requested service for non-emergency repairs, their contractor responded quickly and I was satisfied with his service. The third time I requested service it was an emergency. Our main waterline into the house busted spewing water everywhere. We were able to shut off the water supply at the meter which stopped the water from spewing but we were now without water in the house. I called AHS to submit a service request and their contractor informed me that he was unavailable to come out until the following week. AHS then gave us authorization to use a licensed approved outside contractor. We followed all the required steps including the outside contractor speaking with AHS to explain the problem over the phone and what he did to fix it.
I was instructed by the AHS Outside Authorization Department to submit the invoice using a specific email making sure to include my contract number, the authorization number and reference number given to me by the AHS Outside Authorization Department on the invoice. I did as instructed and emailed the invoice on Sept. 10th, the day after our pipe was fixed. I kept checking the AHS website for a status update on my service request and it said authorization under review. I called on Sept. 30th for an updated and was told they didn't have my invoice in the system and to email it again, so I did. I again kept checking for a status change to my request and nothing. I called again and said they still haven't received my invoice so I sent it a third time. This happened one more time and finally on Oct. 2nd they said they received my invoice and it is under review.
I watching the website for an update to my request status (it never changed) and calling every two weeks hoping for an updated. Finally, on Nov. 6 I spoke with someone who told me my reimbursement was approved and the check had been mailed out and I will receive it on Nov. 8th. I also went out to check the status of my request the website and it now showed "Status: Complete". When I didn't receive the check on Nov. 8th, I decided to give it a few more days thinking there may be a delay with the mail. Nov. 20th and I still haven't receive the check. I call and now being told that my invoice wasn't approved until Nov. 18th and it will take 7 to 10 business days to receive it. I was very upset and explained what the previous person had told me and of course he couldn't explain why I was misinformed.
So here I am, over two months later waiting (again) for a reimbursement check that is supposedly in the mail. I have wasted entirely too much time and energy trying to get updates and reimbursement for this service request. Every time I call I have to explain the entire situation over and over again so that the numerous customer reps. I speak with understand what is going on. Not once has anyone from AHS reached out to me to let me know my invoice was received, approved or when I can expect reimbursement. At this point I can't say I will be renewing my home warranty with AHS nor will I recommend them to anyone.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

I planned to switch home warranty companies because I wanted coverage of appliances and my plan with AHS didn't cover appliances; I had found another company with better rates so planned to switch. When I called to cancel, the associate talked me into upgrading my plan with them to one that would cover appliances. She said she could apply a discount that made the rates on par with their competitor. I agreed. After my initial payment, I received a contract from them that showed appliances were not covered. When I called to inquire I was passed from person to person, told no one could help me or refund the payment I had already made, so I would be transferred to the cancellation department. The system then hung up on me. I've now wasted an hour of my life with this company and am still on hold waiting to talk to someone to cancel my policy.

I’ve paid for AHS for about 4 years now. I have utilized them maybe two times a year and with the exception of the ice-maker in my freezer, they have denied every claim and left me paying out of pocket for the entire repairs PLUS their $75 per service fee. Just take the $60/mo that you would pay them and save it should something come up. You will be in better shape and not have to deal with their ridiculous hold times and frustration of them not being able to explain exactly why something is not covered.
Brannin,
I am sorry that we were not able to offer a resolution that you were pleased with while the contract was active. We hope this experience does not deter you from considering AHS in the future for your home warranty needs.

American Home Shield sent Comfort Temp Heating and Cooling for a tune-up. It was a regular maintenance that needed to be done, so they taught me some stuff and it all went really well. I really appreciate their help. They were asking me about my furnace like stuff that I didn’t even know. So they kind of started filling me in as they went along, taught me how to properly replace my filters, where the pilot light was, and how to turn that on, and how to do some basic cleaning over to get some dust off of it here and there. Submitting the claim with AHS was very simple. Everything’s online. They made it super easy for me. And the contractor called me, set up a time, and everything went very smoothly.

I've been in the house for six months and I've paid AHS for the whole year. The only time I've used them was when I requested for service two times the same day. One was for the plumbing, one was for the heating. The contractor that they sent on the heating side did a great job. But he didn't wanna give me a receipt. I called and they said I was gonna get one in the mail within 24 to 48 hours. It was something I have to file for my record and I never got it.
On the plumbing side, the plumbing was draining slowly when we bought the house. The contractor that came to fix it said there could be toys inside the drain and that was something that they couldn't fix. He noticed I was getting upset so he did a courtesy clean-up and a little kid's plastic golf ball came out of the shower drain. But the issue is still happening. He said that was as far as he could go and that the warranty doesn't cover it. He explained to me that the insurance only covers something like hair or a regular clog. But he still tried to do the best he could as part of the insurance coverage. In the end, AHS wasn't able to fix the plumbing issue. I just paid 75 bucks for their contractor to come and tell me that they couldn't help me. So, I might as well pay the $100 to have a private company instead of paying $75.
Good Morning Michael,
Thank you for speaking with me in an attempt to reach a resolution. I regret that the warranty does not cover for foreign objects to be removed. I do thank you for speaking with me and allowing me to assist.

We had a leak underneath the house, and it came to be the sewer line was busted. It made a bad smell. We looked underneath and saw the little drip. We called American Shield, and then they called the E&K. They had to go underneath the house, and then they had to tear out the insulation and cut the pipe off. They didn’t have anything to fit it. We live in a mobile home, so they had to run down to the store and get an adapter to fix it. And within three hours they were done.
When the hot water tank busted a year and a half ago, they sent out A1 Septic to work on it. The guy that came out to work on it asked what tank we had, and I told him it was a 50-gallon tank. He said he couldn’t get a 50 right then, and that he would get a 40. When put the tank in, I got to look in, and it was a 30-gallon tank. Before he even got here to work on it, I went to town and bought a cut-off valve because there was not a cut-off valve on the water tank. But when he came in, he didn’t like that cut-off valve. He put one on there, and charged me $100 out of my pocket to pay for the valve. Then, I had to pay $75 to American Home Shield for our insurance, for them to come out and work on it. So I was out $175. We called them back and told them that the guy didn’t put in a 50-gallon tank. They told me that he said we were okay with it and that it was what we wanted. But why would I want a 30-gallon when I had a 50-gallon?
The one they put in lasted a little over a year when the element went out. So I went around and around and around with American Shield. And finally, we’ve got ahold of the A1 Septic people. As far as American Shield was told, the guy was supposed to come back and put a 50-gallon in, and he didn’t do it. They finally got a hold of A1 Septic, because E&K was gonna come and put one in for us if they okayed it. But they went back to A1 Septic, and they did come and put one in. But it was a hassle, which I didn’t understand. I understand that by my contract, they have to replace it with what is similar to it or a better brand, but they don’t downgrade. It irritated me to death.
When A1 Septic put the 50-gallon tank in, they ran the water lines up but they didn’t want to move the water lines because the tech said he didn’t think he should have to pay for all of that to put the tank back in. So I had it sitting inside my closet, and the hot water tank was behind the closet wall. I called American Shield and the rep said, “Whatever they say, if you don’t have the room, then they can’t put one in.”
Several years ago, American Home Shield went through and replaced every part on the washing machine, and they replaced the door lock on it. But it broke again, and they couldn’t find the door lock for it, so they replaced the whole washer and dryer. They paid out over $1,500 to replace every part on the washing machine and the whole stack pack didn’t cost me $1,400. They woulda saved more money in the long run, because the tech had to make several trips backwards and forwards because he couldn’t find the part for it. We had to wait for it, and he could find this, so they put the part on it. And that didn’t work, so they put another part on it. I asked the tech if he told American Home Shield that he got several parts that were adding up more than what the thing was gonna cost. But he replied that that was just the way they do it. That doesn’t make sense to me.
We’ve had the insurance for years and they had paid every time. They’ve been a really good insurance. But every time you call American Home Shield, you get a different person, so you gotta go through the whole thing again and tell them everything. And if you gotta call back, you gotta tell again. I don’t understand that because it’s supposed to be documented. So they should be able to read what was on the notes. But I don’t think they do that or they don’t document it.

The furnace wasn't firing. You can hear the gas going off, but it wasn't igniting. I called AHS on a Saturday morning. I called back on Sunday, and on Sunday they said the same thing, that it was in for expedited, but nobody had called me back. We didn't get anybody out here till Monday afternoon. The contractor said the problem was minor and he fixed it rather quickly. I just wish we could've got someone Saturday afternoon-ish because it was the coldest night that we've had. We hit 30 and we never get that low. We had two nights and I have a nine-year old with no heat. If it was just gonna be in the 40's, 50's, we wouldn't have cared that much. They should've had other company, but they didn't have much to choose from.
I've had issues with American Home Shield before. They get annoyed when you're asking for something, especially when you don't call like a whole year. And if you read reviews on some of the contractors, it looks like the only reason they're getting jobs is because American Home Shield is giving it to them. I had one guy that every time he came out, there was a different problem that would break. It got to the point that we just gave up, stopped calling and bought new washers and dryers out of pocket because it was getting damaged.
To get something done, it's like you have to jump through hoops for people to even send the work order out. I've already paid them more for a brand-new washer and dryer set just with the $75 hit each time. You have to pay $75 just to have somebody come out. With the first three months membership, it was free. I was paying $75 five times for the washer and dryer claim and the set never got fixed. They wouldn't replace it and they kept sending people out. They paid $2,000 for the dryer, to get a new drum, to get rid of this and that. It would've been cheaper to buy a new dryer. I have the old school washer and dryer and they're like 400 a piece. If you're spending $1,000 and it's not getting fixed, just squash it out. It doesn't make business sense to pay to fix something if it's worth less to buy a new one.

We could hear our furnace running but it wouldn’t blow the hot air. We tried to turn the heater on and it wouldn’t work. We've had our warranty for a year because we bought our home not long ago. We filed a claim with AHSand this was our second one. We did our claims online. Once you have your account set up and everything, then you click on what you need to say that is wrong and that’s pretty much it.
The response time after we submitted our claim was very good. On both times, it was within hours. For our garage door, it was the very next day that the contractor came out, but I had a response within that day. For our furnace, it was two hours later. AHS sent out Northeast Mechanical Services for that claim. The technician was very knowledgeable and I liked that he took the time to explain things to me. He didn’t brush off my questions. He showed me what he was talking about. He was very prompt, personal, and nice. Our heat works now.

The pipes for the AC were freezing upstairs and I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. I wasn’t sure how late they were open, so I did it online really quick. The contractors looked at it and took out the coils but they didn't find any leaks. So, they kinda re-wrapped it and refilled it with Freon. It got cold here, so we didn't have to use the AC for a while and then in the past couple days, it was hot upstairs and humid, so I went there and saw that no air was blowing. The guy came out this morning and he kinda bent the vents a little more open and took out the filters to try running it with a different filter. He said that he thought it was what was clogging the air. It was the same brand of filter that they’ve been using in the house for four years.
When I did my first claim, I swapped them all out and made sure everything was good. So, I just changed them three weeks ago. He told me to try different filters that aren't the ones that are in there now. So, I went and bought new filters just now, so I’m gonna try those and see if it still blows the air out. Yesterday, about 10:30, it’s 77. I was home and he said to keep an eye on it and call if anything happens. The contractors have been good but they are just looking. I called the technician last night and he told me to do the claim online to file it, and he sent somebody out this morning. They’ve been very professional.

I had two different companies come in and both of them were excellent. They were professional and they got the job done. I mostly use the online to submit a claim to American Home Shield. I used to call it in, and then, I realized it was just as easy and I could do the online. I was thinking about it, whereas the other, you had to remember during the middle of the day when things were busy.
Everything is going good now, except for the built-in microwave that quit. The contractor came out today and he totaled up the parts. He called it into American Home Shield and there's one part that they can’t find. And if they can’t find it, then they’ll have to replace the microwave. But I don't think they make the one I have anymore. It was more of an institutional one and that one will do everything but dance. But I trust American Home Shield. When I booked with American Home Shield, they told me that they were going to send me a paper copy of my contract with everything listed including what they would fix, what was given there, what I was paying per monthly, the whole bit, but I never received the paper copy. I have called three times. I have reached the Philippines where they are. They said they would get back to me and sort this out. I have tried to call the Memphis, Tennessee office but couldn't get anybody through. When I did, it went back to the Philippines. I feel it’s very unacceptable because I put this on a charge card instead of my debit card because people told me these warranty companies, if they get ahold of your checkbook, because they’re over the Philippines and other places like that, you never know what the fraud’s gonna be like.
I’ve had a home warranty plan over and over with every home I’ve owned for many years, and I’ve had 15 homes. So, I’m well aware of how this goes down. I got a copy on my phone but I want the copy in a folder in front of me with everything, so I don’t have to go back to my phone, where I have to dial it through, download the whole thing to see if a claim is covered or not. It’s too frustrating for me.
As for my claim regarding my washing machine and refrigerator, everything’s working fine now. For the refrigerator, the contractor put in a claim to have the icemaker tray parts replaced. The back bar of the rotator bar that rolls around to throw the ice around and that’s at an angle to catch the plastic box to hold the ice was rusted and he felt that was a health hazard. But I’ve not heard anything back yet. For the washer, he put a new modular device in it because I couldn’t get the door open in my washer. The man was amazing, and he was sweet, and it took only a week.

My hot water tank wasn’t working and I called Home Shield. I got an extremely nice rep. He gave me A Water Solution's name, but he didn’t tell me when they were coming. He just said that they would reach out to me, which they did the very next morning. I love them. Their tech came out, told me exactly what was needed and had the hot water tank ordered. Home Shield paid.
A Water Solution was out as soon as they could after they got the hot water tank. But there was an issue where the installer switched my cold water and my hot water, so my washer was running hot when it’s supposed to be running cold. They came right out and fixed it. There were no questions and no problems. My unit had been working perfectly.
They really did a great job. They were no-nonsense. They did what they said they were gonna do and they didn't hike up the price. It was really good because two days after I got a new hot water tank, my sink backed up and I had to call a different plumber because I didn’t know A Water Solution did it. He looked at what A Water Solution did and he said that they would have charged over a $1,000 for it.

We just moved into our house and it has only been three months since we've been a customer of American Home Shield. When the CPU in our refrigerator was out, the original serviceman was going to order the part. It turned out the part wasn't made anymore so AHS went ahead and replaced the refrigerator. I felt really good about it. Everything went really well. The service was prompt and the workers that came in were very friendly and knowledgeable. They did a great job resolving my issue. The whole process took three weeks in total. The biggest drop in time was waiting between thinking the part was gonna be ordered and then not having it in. I like the friendliness of the service members that came out to do both the repair and install. It was two different groups of people and we were impressed with the quality of service, overall.

One time, we stopped getting hot water. We submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. Their website was simple and they told me that the contractor, ASAP Plumbing Services, would be at my place between 10:00 and 4:00. The techs were on time but then they didn't really take care of the problem. The immediate issue was that we didn't have any hot water. That kinda got fixed because our breaker ended up tripping. The tech told us that our breaker tripped and our heater started working again. But then, the actual unit was giving us hot water for five minutes but then after that, the water gets cold. Still, AHS is a great home warranty company. I'm glad we had them when we bought our home.

Everything’s working fine now. I’m very satisfied with Precision. Each time that they came, they showed up on time. And when I had questions to ask of the technicians, they were very easy to speak with. They took time to explain what they were doing and made me feel comfortable that they were competent. And they were efficient in getting the job done.

The plumber was wonderful. I thought I had a plumbing leak in my laundry room and it turned out that it was the washing machine that was leaking. It hadn’t been used in a week, yet it was still leaking. The plumber was very informative and polite. He looked at many different things and walked me through everything. He was even willing to look in the wall and see if the leak was coming from the outside faucet, which is what I thought, but then he said to try the washing machine first. He turned it on and he was able to replicate the problem, which solidified the fact that the issue wasn’t a plumbing leak. He offered to call American Home Shield back and transfer the call to appliances, but then I explained to him I don’t have appliance coverage.
Even though he didn’t end up doing any plumbing work, I would definitely use that plumber again. I paid the copay before he came and it was all very easy, including the process. I've been with American Home Shield for 12 years and in the past, it’s been an exercise in frustration and I haven’t had to call in quite a while, but this time, everything was great. I got a response within a couple of hours then the plumber AHS used was willing to come the next day (he was on time too). It’s unusual for my prior experience, but this experience was really good.

The upstairs AC wasn't working. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent out someone in my house. That person totally told me something wrong because I know a lot of electrician things and I figured out that it was a fuse issue. But he was telling me that it was something else and he was giving me a $600 bill. Then, I called American Home Shield and told them that I wanted a second opinion. But they said that if I wanted a second opinion, I had to pay $75 extra if the finding would be the same as the first person who came.
So, I Google searched some people who are associated with American Home Shield, then I told AHS that I wanted them to send out a particular company because they had a 5-star rating. I didn't want American Home Shield to choose someone for me because the guy that they earlier chose for me was truly drunk and I could smell him. On top of that, he gave me a $600 bill when I knew that it was a fuse issue. When the second person, the one I chose, came out, he confirmed that it was a fuse issue and they didn't charge me another $75. But instead of having the option that you have to pay $75 again if the second opinion is similar to the first tech's diagnosis, AHS should just take it out because most of the time, the person would want to have a second opinion.

Everything went well with my claim, and Family AC Service Solutions was professional and very good. They were very prompt in handling the problem. This was the day before Thanksgiving, so it was a unique time and situation. Once I filed the claim online with American Home Shield, they sent an automatic reply that this had been sent to the particular contractor. It had a contact information there, so I called the contractor and they were already working to try to schedule it, and they obliged while I was on the phone, scheduled it, and said that they would send me a message via text as soon as they dispatch whether it would be that afternoon or not, and it did. When they texted me, they sent me a link to track the progress of the technician driving from where he was coming from to my residence. So, I was able to watch that in real time.
Our service request was acted upon promptly. The online process was very simple, easy to do and request. They way it linked in to the contractors that you guys have on your list or database to assign it to, that seemed to flow well. Knowing that it was a day coming up into the holiday the next day, I got on the phone and proactively called. I’m in the electric trade industry, so I knew I’d better expedite that myself as well. But it seemed the ball was already rolling and all I did was confirm what was happening.

J & L Plumbing came out to repair a toilet that was in my master bathroom and in my common area, and they replaced everything that was inside it. They were phenomenal. The tech was very thorough. He educated me, so he showed me exactly what was wrong and what needed to be repaired. He also stuck around to make sure that there was no further leaks and everything was working properly, as well as he had given me his contact information in case I did experience any more leaks after he had left. I could reach back out for him to come back by in case something needed to be tightened a bit more. AHS has been great and I'm excited to stay with them and renew.

We had only been in the house for about three months, but the microwave that was in it went dead. J T Enterprises came out and looked at it and they went back and said, “We’re gonna have to order at least two new circuit boards. I don’t know if they’ll wanna do that or just replace the whole thing.” AHS came back and said, “We’re gonna replace it.” We went through a long period where I went out and looked at some microwaves to buy on my own. And then AHS came up with a replacement and sent it to me. I looked at it and I said, “Okay, that sounds fine.” So they came back and said, “It’ll be 10 to 14 days before we can get it to you.” I said, “Okay, fine.” Two weeks later, it arrived and J T Enterprises came back up. They only come in town on Tuesdays.
The new microwave arrived Tuesday morning, and J T Enterprises had already scheduled to be here. They came in and we found out that there was a filler kit that was supposed to go with the microwave, because it was a 36-inch hole and the microwave was only 30 inches wide. AHS didn’t send the filler, even though it was on the original email. So, the tech said, “We can’t do that because we gotta have the fillers to put it all in.”
They went back and I called AHS again and told them what happened. They put me on hold and then the line went dead. And this was after I've been on hold for about an hour. I sent them two emails that day and said, “What happened? We need to get this piece. It was a very small piece. You could overnight ship it.” I was assuming that they’d answer my email, which they never did. The second time I called, they said, “If you leave us your number, we’ll call you back. You don’t have to wait.” So, I left my number and about 15 or 20 minutes later, they called back and said, “Your number won in the queue.” It was 20 minutes later before anybody came on the line.
The next week, I called AHS back and finally got somebody to pay attention. They said that it hadn’t been ordered and that they’ll order the part. They ordered it and they said, “It’ll be two weeks before you get it.” And I said, “Can't we expedite the shipping? It’s been a month and a half now without a microwave.” And the rep said, “No. We can’t do that because it goes to the Whirlpool warehouse and they’ll have to do it.” That was great service. We waited another two weeks for those parts to come. When that part finally came, J T Enterprises came back and we took the old microwave out and started looking at putting the new one in. The new one was a half-inch longer than the old one and it was gonna require cutting the backsplash tile a half-inch down. The tech said, “We’re gonna have to wait until you get to figure out what you wanna do with it.” So, they left.
I looked at getting someone to come in and cut the tile, which was very expensive and AHS said, “That’s gonna be your cost.” I sat and I looked at it and I thought on putting a half-inch board up there on top of the tile and then put the brace piece in through there. That’d make the microwave stick out a half-inch more. That was what I did and I called J T Enterprises back. They came back the next Tuesday and we put it in and everything’s working. But it’s almost two months without a microwave and the service I got from AHS just stunk. I was seriously looking at going to another company. I've been with this company for almost 12 years, which is another thing that hurts me. You’d think somebody who’s been there 12 years would get some response.
I apologize for the inconvenience Edward. My name is Stacy and I have emailed r you about your experience as I would love to hear more about your experience in an effort to resolve your issue. I look forward to assisting you.

But it took them 3 days to have someone come out. It really wasn’t what we would have preferred, but that was the option. And I could have called back probably. The guy said he might be out on Saturday and then it was Sunday, and then it was Monday. And first thing , Monday morning, I got a call and they were there before eight o’clock. They did what we expected them to do, and cleared the line. The last time we called was for an air conditioner. The contractor was there 15 or 20 minutes, and put a capacitor on, and then it’s working fine. So far, everything’s been great. AHS has been very responsive and we’ve been very pleased.

While we were on vacation, our water heater broke. So, when we came home on a Saturday evening, I went online and submitted a claim with American Home Shield. I’m an IT guy, so most things are not too hard for me to navigate the web. So, I didn’t find it complicated to find what I needed to get someone out. They sent Five Brothers Plumbing. They came on Monday. They didn’t replace it, but they looked at it at least. The guy was thorough. He said, “There’s a couple of things that are out of code that needed to be addressed and stuff.” He showed me something that was broken that I didn’t realize was broken, and he said, “Hey, go to Home Depot. It costs less than $10 to buy it. You can put it it in yourself.” It had nothing to do with the water heater. So, they were good. I appreciate them.
Everything is great now. The guy was honest with the bill. I knew exactly what I was gonna pay when they came, and he was pretty quick to get it installed. It took less than an hour and a half from start to finish. So, they were really fast. I’ve used AHS on a couple of things and I haven’t really had any complaint. For what my policy provides, they are straight upfront and tell me, “Hey, this is what you’re gonna have to pay ‘cause your policy doesn’t cover whatever.” There are no surprises with anything from them.

In May, the refrigerator in our garage began to shut off for long periods of time. It would eventually come back on but everything in the freezer portion defrosted and had to be thrown away. I opened a ticket with AHS and they dispatched a contractor to repair it. The contractor replaced a part but the issue occurred again within a week. I reopened the ticket. This kept repeating until August, when they had replaced 3 different parts and the problem still occurred. I called AHS and requested that they send a different contractor. I was told that they couldn't do anything until the ticket had been reopened for a 4th time. They re-opened the ticket but the contractor never came out and the ticket had a status of "waiting for approval".
After 2 weeks, I contacted AHS again and was told that my ticket would be escalated and that I would hear back in 24 to 48 hours. I never received a callback. I called again a week later and was told the same thing and again no call back. Two weeks later I called again and was told that from my records my ticket had never been escalated. I was told that now my ticket was actually escalated and that I'd hear back from them.
2 weeks went by and no word. I call back and they tell me that the ticket shows that it's still under evaluation. I put up enough of a fuss that the operator agreed to send out another company except she wanted to charge me another service fee because it had been over 60 days since the ticket was closed. I explained that the reason the ticket wasn't re-opened was because it was in the "waiting for approval" state and I couldn't reopen it. They ended up agreeing to no service charge and scheduled a 2nd contractor to come out in 10 days (said that was the earliest available).
It's now been almost 6 months that we've been without the refrigerator/freezer in our garage and AHS still hasn't fixed the issue. I've been told on 5 separate occasions that I would receive a call back but that didn't happen. My in-laws have offered us a refrigerator so we are taking that one and getting rid of the one that we had. I've now cancelled the ticket with AHS as I seriously doubt that the issue would be resolved in the near future and we need our fridge. This is the easier solution for us.
AHS has done fine on most of the repair requests that I've made. In this case, when it wasn't a simple fix, they failed miserably. The contractor that they sent told me that he had no idea what the issue was but AHS still refused to send a different contractor. Every time I call, I have to give the long, drawn out story to the operator that I speak to. The person that I speak with has no power to do anything to resolve my issue. I was continually told that my issue would be escalated and that I'd be contacted. That never happened...not once. We'd been without a fridge for 6 months. Just replacing the unit was the simple solution for us. Maybe that's what AHS is counting on, that they'll just string this out long enough that you take care of it yourself.
As I said, the simple repairs that I've had done in the past were fine. Once it's not simple, AHS doesn't appear to have any infrastructure to handle the issue. The only people I can talk to don't have any visibility other than reading my ticket history and viewing it's status. I was unable to get in direct touch with anyone that could actually tell me what was happening with my ticket. The thing that was the most maddening was the repeated promises of return calls and then not receiving a single one. Bottom line, AHS ended up not having to do anything to fix my refrigerator. They just waited me out until I had to do something myself. Maybe they saved a few bucks but they certainly didn't do anything for customer satisfaction.
Allen,
I am sorry to hear that we have not provided a suitable resolution at this time. Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

AC went out in the summer, and if you're in TX, you know some days can reach over 100 degrees. Called in on a Friday, and was told on Saturday that no one would be able to come out until Tuesday. That was 5 days of no AC, and I also had 3 dogs to worry about. AHS did not constitute this as an emergency. When I renewed my policy the following May, I was given a $75 discount for being a realtor. That $75 appeared as a past due payment on my account. I called NUMEROUS times to get this removed, and was told each time that it would be taken care of. 5 months later, it was STILL on the account. Their collections department would not stop calling and asking for payment.
Every time I told them to read the notes left on my account, instead of having to reiterate the entire situation, they would just hang up on me. I finally decided to cancel my policy in Oct, and even received a confirmation email that a prorated refund check for the unused months would be mailed to me within 10 business days. A month later, still nothing in the mail. I called AHS to find out where my refund was, and they had NO record of any check being sent out. They tried to give me the run around by saying they would escalate the situation. Rather than dealing with them any further, I called my bank to dispute the charge. This company only cares about making money, and will scam customers who no longer wishes to employ their services. For the headache of dealing with AHS, one star is way too generous.

Yesterday, I was very disappointed because the young lady wasn't a native English speaker and we couldn’t understand each other. It was very difficult and very frustrating. Then the technician came out, and they said that I needed to call the customer service because I have a two-unit problem. So I called the customer service and they contacted the contractor. The tech said everything was covered and he was gonna check both units. He said he had to change the control board of the first unit. He found the board on the warehouse and he put it in three hours later.
The second unit had another problem a couple of days later, so I called the customer service, and then they sent us the technician back. The switch was working on and off. When our dishwasher was not draining, American Home Shield had somebody come in and fix it. He was here from 30 minutes to an hour and he did a good job. He was really nice too.

The refrigerator was making all kinds of noise and clicking sound. Then it started getting louder. As soon as the guy from Whirlpool got here, he knew exactly what was going on. He replaced one component in there and it took care of everything. Submitting a claim with AHS is pretty smooth and simple. You go online and there’s a list of things that it covers and it’s $107 per request. From there, somebody contacts you. Everybody has been great and I'm pretty happy with American Home Shield.

I called American Home Shield to file my claim. They sent J&G Services, and they were very polite, helpful, and patient. The crew that came out that did the work was very kind and clean, and didn't damage anything. There was one hiccup, but it was on the manufacturer of the appliance we were dealing with. AHS did a fine job.

The arm broke off in the hose of the shower head. I called American Home Shield and spoke to a representative. This issue got handled very fine, but when you talk to people in the Philippines, they seem to not understand what you’re saying. And the first words out of their mouth is, “I understand what you’re saying to me.” But they can’t repeat what I said to them. Also, how they go about doing things is crazy. They ask you all the information, and they ask you what’s going on, and then I go through everything. And then I asked them if they couldn't see that there. And the rep said, “Let me open up your account.” So they just got done asking me all the questions to find my account, and now they’re gonna open it up afterwards?
I called American Home Shield when both my furnaces were down. They gave me $100 credit to buy some space heaters, which took five days. I had a maintenance call done first and that’s when they found the problem with the furnace. When they found the problem, they initiated two service calls for the furnaces to be replaced. But the guys never came out.
On the first day they got here, they did this whole thing. But they didn’t get here till noon. It took them three days to complete two furnaces because one is in a raised attic, and they had to take it out piece by piece. They would have never gotten the furnace up there if I wasn’t here. I had to take off days of work, which I wasn’t planning on. After I never received my credit after two weeks, I disputed one of the charges on my credit card. Then I got an email a day saying that it’s been two weeks since they did that and I need to pay for the service call. I called them up, and they said that I was supposed to have that credit. I asked if we were fine then, but they told me I have to pay it. But they said I have a credit coming. I was told it was in the process. But we still haven’t heard anything back.
The services and the companies were all great. They do very detailed work. BNK Plumbing has been to my house three times and they’re fantastic. Also, the furnace guys were very good. American Home Shield's warranty is very good and it puts me at rest. But my problem is with trying to get ahold and talk to people when there are things going on. I have furnaces which are very loud right now and I can’t understand why. But they chose to buy Payne furnaces, which I’ve never heard of before in my life. And no one can tell me why they bought that. My furnace was quiet before. But now, it’s loud. I had a supervisor call me back, but I was on another business call. I called him right back, but he didn’t pick up. I’ve been calling him every single day since last week and he still has not returned my call.

I made a claim since I didn't have any hot water in my secondary bathroom in the shower and Air Pro Master called me. We set up an appointment then they came and fixed it. It was very good. It was super easy, quick and done – just the way we like it. It was affordable too. American Home Shield is amazing. I have that little peace of mind, that little insurance that life will be okay no matter what happens. So it's all good.

Dimitri did the plumbing claim and they were fine. Nikolai, the technician, was very good. He’s been here before, and he came out three times for one item. But I'm fine with that. He came in a timely manner. The faucet was leaking after he fixed it, so I called back. He fixed it and it was perfect. But when Flamingo Factory came out for my dishwasher, I had an issue with them. They gave me a 2 to 5 window. At 12:30, I got a call from Flamingo telling me that there was a carrier outside our door that was delivering a part for the service guy to use. I had to go somewhere and come back at 1:30, so I told them to let him leave it right on the patio table. And as I was walking out, he was there. I had this wishful thinking that I was getting the part and that the tech would be there early, fix it, and I could go on with my day.
I got home at 1:30 to make sure I’d be home in case the technician came at 2:00. He did not come at 2, 3, 4, or 5:00. I finally called by 5:00 and they told me he was running late. Why didn't somebody call me and tell me that he was running late? That's a courtesy call. You should pick up the phone and call the consumers on that list of his route. So they got the part to me but nobody called. I sat there for three and a half hours and I can't leave or work because I was afraid I would miss the service and then it would have to be rescheduled.
At 6:00, they called me and said that he was 10 minutes away. I told the rep that I wanted to speak to the supervisor. The rep told me that he was not around and that they would put an email and he would call me tomorrow. The technician came after 6:00. I told the woman on the phone that I couldn't have my dinner at home because it was in the kitchen where the dishwasher is. So I have to postpone and put on hold my dinner. I couldn't prepare it because the tech was here. My wife is handicapped and she has to eat at certain times and I couldn't do it because they were running late. I was very upset with this. Also, before I could even talk to anybody, the first thing they asked was a credit card number. They want that right away, but they don’t care when the service guy comes. It was very disappointing.
The tech had to check the dishwasher and turn the machine on and let it run, and some other things. He wasn’t out in five minutes. It was stupid. The guy had a reason for being late, but did he not tell Flamingo that he has a problem? Did Flamingo not get back to a customer? No! I had to make the calls. And then I waited on hold until I could finally speak to a person. It was very upsetting, very disturbing and very annoying. Then I got three renewal notices from American Home Shield, but it doesn’t expire until December the 11th. But this started to come in six weeks before the 11th. You want the money, but here I am not getting the service. If I don’t like this, I’ll turn around and tell American Home Shield to not send Flamingo anymore, and they're gonna have to find somebody else.
I apologize for the inconvenience. I just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

It's very important to have a home warranty. I've had American Home Shield since '87, and I called them recently because the heat wouldn’t come on after sitting all winter. Their rep said I should hear from a contractor the next morning, which happened that way. They’re one of the better contractors I’ve ever had out from American Home Shield. The guy has come out before, and he's friendly and responsive. He does a great job and he’s well-known. He ended up being so busy that day, though, that he came out at 8 o’clock that night. Still, it was an excellent experience and everything has been working perfectly since.

They called within a couple hours, and the tech from Flash Garage Door came out the next day and replaced an electrical board that was in the unit. We had another home warranty company last year and they were awful. And for a few months that we've had AHS, they've been super responsive. There was a gas leak in our central heating system, which needed a valve replacement. I called and spoke to a representative and it went very good. I only use the website for emails and stuff. I prefer to call them because sometimes it requires a little explanation of what the problem might be. They sent someone the next day. It was pretty quick. And everything is working fine. They sent someone from Sevier Climate Control, and I probably will use them starting in the next year to do my air conditioning maintenance kind of work.
The fellow that came looked and saw what was needed and told me he would come back the next day or the day following as soon as he could get a part to do the replacement. So, he did that. I was fully notified of when he was gonna come back and he did come back as they said he would, and everything went exactly as everybody said it was going to. So, I’m very pleased. I also had a couple of dishwasher and some plumbing drainage issues, and it's been good.
I just would like to know which contractors they use so I can use them for routine annual maintenance, instead of just repairs. Like who are the plumbers within my area, who would be a good plumber that I could rely on just because I wanna have a relationship with that plumber. And also, have them a part of American Home Shield’s program.

I've had good and bad experiences with American Home Shield. When my heat went out on the coldest day of the year, I filed the claim with American Home Shield online, described the problem, and chose the service contractors as the provider instead of the default. I had a bad experience with the default option and thought that I’d rather go with one that other people have selected and did positive reviews on.
I like the service contractors. I got a phone call within 10 minutes and the person scheduled the date that I needed. At first, she said they'd be out Monday, but I asked if she could get somebody out Sunday. She said she could do it and then set it up. The guy came on time and my mom was impressed that he knew his stuff. It was a simple fix and he took care of it within about an hour.
I like the ability to choose my contractor. Everybody’s frustration around the home warranty is the level of service through the warranty as opposed to calling the contractor on their own. When I had plumbing issues that led to a total line replacement, I was not satisfied with the first plumber I got. They basically told me that the problem wasn’t my drains and that nothing was clogged. Then they quoted me three times the price of a competitor that I called for installing cleanout drains. A $2,700 quote for something that costs around about $1,000 was not appropriate. It's ridiculous to be gouged by a company that I'm already paying through a warranty. Also, I wouldn’t trust the home warranty to continue with that project because of that. So I paid out-of-pocket, but I knew that I could trust the people I was hiring.

Lately, I haven't liked American Home Shield that much because they’ve been contracting with some less than reputable companies and I’ve had several issues with them. When they contracted with an air conditioning company, the guy came into my house saying that I had a refrigerant leak and I had to put over a $1,000 out of pocket. I thought it was ridiculous and I could repair that in less than five minutes. So I contracted somebody else I paid out of my own pocket, and the guy said there was no leak. Not much was ever done by American Home Shield. When I had some faucet that had stopped functioning well, American Home Shield refused to pay for them and they gave some chicken ** excuses. When I called them, it was like talking to robots. They don’t wanna talk about it, and just say, “This is the way it is and that’s the way it is.”

Simply put, American Home Shield doesn't care. We have been without heat for 6 days, it's been in the 50s in our house that long, and we just got a call from the contractor that they won't be here for another 2 days. But that's what happens when AHS hires a cheap contractor from Atlanta to fix an immediate problem in South Carolina. And AHS (after putting us on hold for over an hour) says they can't do anything about it. This is not an isolated incident. We had a problem with our air conditioner last summer, and we got so frustrated with AHS and their delaying tactics to save money that we went out and had a new one put in by a contractor that we hired. Don't use American Home Shield!

I called after 3 days to try and confirm cancellation. I spoke to female and explained, once again, I wanted to cancel. She explained she would take care of it. After being put on hold she came back on line and tried to talk me out of cancelling. I explained, again, I want to cancel. Don’t fall for the good reviews. I have canceled my service due to the following facts..
2. Many of their service providers are small and unprofessional. Because they have cut rates paid to service providers, you are left with jr. level service people. I have had to request different techs two out of three times.
3. Oftentimes, I have experienced the service providers have not shown up nor called to alert me they would not be there.
4. Customer service is based on the Philippines and, while they are nice on the phone, they disconnect you when they can’t solver a problem. When you ask for a US representative, they say they cannot send you there. They will not give you useful information and only read from a script.
5. They openly lie about scheduling services. If you have an emergency, they may or may not setup an emergency service. However they tell you they have set it up. Then you talk to the service provider and find that was not the case (two times this happened to me).
Stay away from this company and don’t fall for the positive reviews.

When the heating stopped working, we called American Home Shield. We said that we didn't have heat and asked if they could send someone. Somebody from South Placer came and determined that a part of the heater was not working right and that it would continue to stop intermittently. In the process, they recommended that a certain part be replaced. They said that I would get the replacement part in the mail and that they would come back in a couple of days to put it together. And that was exactly what they did.
Now, our heater heats the house and stays at a certain temperature. It doesn’t overheat or underheat. We're very satisfied. Also, we like the contractor. Some companies come and all of a sudden, they want to replace your whole system and by the time they are done, you are gonna be spending around $5,000. But South Placer was very efficient and didn't necessarily make big claims. AHS is very accommodating. They listen and are very patient. Last time, the problem was our AC. We had a storm come through that knocked the power up, and when the power came back on, the air conditioner wasn’t turning back on. The technician that comes and services my unit on a monthly basis, All American Air Conditioning, found that the breaker was tripped and that the unit was not cooling because it had a leak. They filled it with Freon, and it started to cool again fine.
I contacted American Home Shield to let them know that my air conditioner had a leak and I wanted to figure out whether I needed a get a vendor from their company to confirm that it was leaking or not. They said they would send someone out, and then a kid came out. He was a really nice guy, very professional and thorough. He did a bunch of tests and said he didn’t find the leak. So, I am not really sure what to do with it now because I just gave my air conditioning company 300 bucks. But the kid was telling me that I don’t have a leak. I was looking for some direction from American Home Shield if they would help me with that expense or not, and I guess they're not going to.
This is my third year with them and going through the claims process has been horrible. The first time I had to use them was about a year or two ago. I had an issue with my air conditioner. They set me up with one of their vendors but the vendor never called me. I called back American Home Shield and they set me with another vendor, but that vendor couldn’t come out for five days. So, they told me to use my own vendor, which I did. I paid for everything upfront and got the dispatch number, then I called American Home Shield when the tech came. My company talked with American Home Shield about some other information, and then it took them two months to reimburse me.
I made about 30 phone calls in two months to American Home Shield and and it was a battle every time I called. I asked if they received the information and one person says yes, but when I called back, another person says no. It was a nightmare. I almost didn’t renew because of it. But I got sick and I wasn’t able to cancel the policy, so the new policy came into effect. Luckily, I had no issues.
But this year, unfortunately, I had issues. The dishwasher leaked and I called them, then they set it up. Within the next day, the technician had already made contact with me and set up an inspection. He came out the next day and was able to repair the dishwasher, which was fantastic. That was actually a really good experience and the technician was awesome. And then, I had another claim. It appeared that it's all related. When my dishwasher leaked for hours, it flooded my whole house. I have an active claim with my insurance company right now, and my dishwasher was repaired, but I was concerned that the dishwasher, the stove and the refrigerator which are all right there in close proximity to each other had damage. But when the stove worked fine, I assumed that I didn’t need to do anything about the refrigerator. It turns out a week or two later, my whole refrigerator went. I lost several hundred dollars worth of food.
I then called American Home Shield, but it was difficult to pinpoint when their contractor would be here. I took off of work and waited for the guy. He gave me a two-hour window, and then I called him and he said he was on the way. Then when he got here, he was really nice and professional. He has been to my house three times already. On the first time that he came here, he basically confirmed what I already told him on the phone and via text message that the compressor was sitting in water for a week or two and the circuit board is fried.
He came back out when the part came a week later and put that in. He temporarily fixed some things, but there were still some things that were not resolved. So, he said that he would have to come back out. He ordered that part and came back out a couple of days later. He was supposed to be here at 11:00 but he showed up at 10:00. I was in the middle of an inspection, so I had to leave my inspection and meet him here. He was here for like 15 minutes and he put the part in. He said it should work and to give it a couple of days. But after a couple of days, it's still not working. I went out-of-town on business and came back, but it's still not working. I called American Home Shield around Thursday, and they said they were gonna send him back out. He said he hasn’t received the dispatch number still, and here it is, Monday, and I still haven’t heard from him. I don't really know what is going on.
The process is not as they make it seem on the commercials and on the internet. It's very much a huge pain in the **. And I was speaking to the rep on the phone about somehow they switched my payment from monthly to three times, and then something like paying three consecutive months, and I'm like, “I don't know what's going on.” Every time I call American Home Shield, I feel like I'm on the phone for an hour, then the call drops and they don’t call me back. I call back in and get another person, then I'm on the phone with them for another hour and the call drops. I feel like they're playing games with me. And I don't know whether I'm talking to India or the Philippines, but I never get to talk to someone from the United States.
I was trying to cancel my policy the day before yesterday but they put me on hold and the call dropped again. And I was not gonna spend my night calling American Home Shield for two to three hours, and then not get anywhere. It's just extremely frustrating. It has been a process and I've been very patient. I was trying to figure out what's the best way for me to absorb the least cost or the least amount of pain, but it has not been like that at all for me. My wife wanted to get rid them after the air conditioner issue, about two years ago.
At the end of the day, I already paid 250 bucks and my refrigerator is still not working the way it should. The technician said he has to come out and replace something else, and I'm like, “Dude, you've been to my house three times already, why the hell couldn’t you have figured it out yourself the first two times you were out here? Then now, I gotta take more time off of work.” It's costing me time, which is money, and on top of that, it's costing me money. So, I feel like I'm losing twice. I don’t really see the benefit of keeping American Home Shield because out of the three claims I've had, two of them have been nightmares, and one of them has been the reason for the next one. So, I'd rather just pay someone from Sears to come out and fix it right the first time and be done with it. I would just save the money myself and replace the appliance altogether.
Gilberto,
I hate to hear that you were not satisfied with the service received from us. Thank you for speaking with me in an attempt to reach a resolution.

There was a water leak in the garage and the company that AHS first sent out were a bunch of scam artist. They didn't fix it right. The guy tried telling me that it was my hot water heater. Then they sent out this company called Restoration, telling me I got water damage. I didn't have water damage in my house, but they were trying to run a scam and get more money out of us because they wanted to file a claim on my homeowner's insurance. I didn't have water for three days 'cause I had to call somebody again. The next day, Second Opinion Plumbing came and they were good. I thought the issue was with my water heater, but it was the overflow valve release that they had to fix.

American Home Shield doesn't cover a lot, but they're fair. I've been with them for at least 10 years. But I have issues with them. I made a call for a garage issue and then company that came out said it was not covered under my contract. I told them that I gave American Home Shield $125 for them to come out, but then ended up paying an additional $420 added repairs done, which ended up costing me $570 rough. I shouldn't have gotten it from the house call for them to come out.
If it is not covered, the money should go towards the bill and not get stuck with the $125 and then have to pay the whole additional bill. American Home Shield should at least say they would have if it's something that's not covered. Matter of fact, I have to use them twice in one month. They covered one incident. The other incident wasn't covered but we're looking at $250 I spent this month with American Home Shield just for service call and then another additional $420 for the repair.
I had a company come out last year and the issue was they could repair my plumbing problem, but they would have to cut into my wall. I told that they can cut into my wall. If I have to cut into the wall, I have to put an access to handle that. The contractor said that American Home Shield don't cover that, and that he couldn't do it. So that was another $125 I spent in the companies that would do it, but it's gonna cost around $1,500 for us to do, and Home Shield wouldn't cover the fact that they can go on to my wall and fix the pipe. I'll fix it to do the repair, but the contractor said that under the contract, they would have to do the repairs as far as putting access to handle it. So it was a little issue that I have with American Home Shield that I am considering BGE Home right now.

What holds the light switch on to the wall came off. It popped off, and I foolishly tried to reattach it, and it sparked. I decided to leave that alone. So, that one fell off, and then there was another one that was about to fall off. And so I called American Home Shield. Kelly Brothers Electric fixed it. They were super fast about calling me. They called me on a Saturday, which I didn’t expect, and then I was scheduled on a Monday. I submitted my claim late on a Friday, so it was all so quick, and I appreciated that. The guy was really nice, and he seemed really sensitive to the fact that I’m a female alone in a house with a stranger. And so, he was really good. He was really quick and efficient, and I felt comfortable. Submitting a claim with AHS is always so easy, and I’m always grateful for that. I always do it online. It’s the easiest way.

We couldn’t get the furnace's pilot light lit and had no heat so we had to call someone to figure that out. American Home Shield's response time was great and they were able to contact us within a few hours. The contractors who came was wonderful, very knowledgeable, and courteous. The gas lines that go into the furnace were clotted with soot from previous years and they had to clear out those lines so that the gas could get through and we could light the pilot light. They did about an hour of work and it has been working great since. All in all, using AHS has been wonderful.

I just bought this home the end of September and it is not brand new so I wanted my appliance and things covered. American Home Shield was recommended to me and I picked them. I had one guy that came and looked at the dishwasher and they charged me the $75 service charge. All the man did was come in and he said the dishwasher was missing a part. AHS said they wouldn't cover the claim because it was a missing part. Even if American Home Shield wouldn't pay for it, I asked the man if he could get the part as well as how much it would cost for him to install it. He said he would get back to me but I haven't heard from that man. I can see where a part's missing because of what the technician showed my daughter, but I don't know what it is. He didn't leave the name of the part. To this day, I got his phone number, the name of the company because he called me, but he never left me anything in reference to a part number.
Also, the man wasn't here five minutes and I wanted him to check all my appliances, my stove and my refrigerator because I have an ice machine and I wanna make sure everything was okay. But he said that AHS only had it down for him to look at my dishwasher. When I called in, the girl that took my service order didn't tell me that I had to have it on there for them to check all the appliances and she didn't put that on the ticket even though I told her that. I called Clutch Appliance and I complained because I told American Home Shield that he wasn't here for five minutes and my daughter even told him that we wanted him to check out all the appliances and he told her he couldn't do it.
AHS wasn’t very understanding and they should have reached out. I called and told them about what happened with Clutch and that it was a waste of trip. I'm gonna have to get somebody else to come out here unless I call the man back again and hopefully, he will remember me and find what part it is that the dishwasher need because I'm definitely not gonna call him back out here and pay $75 for him to tell me the same thing.
On my most recent claim, the light wouldn't work right. When the contractor from AHS came, he was looking at several electrical issues. He took the bulbs out and he said that there was nothing wrong. He could tell that it was getting electricity and that all I needed were bulbs, but I didn't have the bulbs at the time. So, I called AHS and told them that the man said there was nothing wrong with the bulbs but there is something else wrong. The contractor was very nice and had we had the bulbs that day, he would have replaced them but the girl that I spoke with wasn’t clear on what she was saying. I was confused because AHS wasn’t gonna pay because there wasn’t anything wrong except the bulbs. But there were some other things that the man came and looked at. He checked all my electrical and I made sure he put it on there.

The outside AC unit wouldn’t turn on, so there was no cold air. I sent the claim online, and when I submit a claim, I get a response within 5 minutes or so from American Home Shield telling me that some company has been dispatched and that they should be contacting me within the next 24 hours. The contractor came out and discovered that the fan motors ware not working, and then they replaced those. They had the part on-stock at that time. The quality of the work done was good initially, but I found that I had to call them out because the fan belt was not tightened enough. So it fell down and I had to turn it off because it would mess up the entire AC unit. Their vendors should make sure that they are doing the work right the first time around. They then came back out and fixed that. The timing for them to come out was fantastic. They generally come out within a day, so I’m pleased with that. Overall, the service of AHS is fantastic.

We had a new unit installed about six years ago. And they did all of the piping and vents from underneath our house. We had a central air unit, and the condensation vent pipes were leading out underneath the house. And what happened is it got backed up because they didn’t allow enough slope when they installed it. And it shorted out the unit so AHS had someone to come out. The contractors were all professional. I had no problems with them whatsoever. They told me what the problem was, and they fixed it. They fixed the slope and all the problems, so it won’t happen again.
I’ve had the warranty since I’ve been there at the residence for at least 13 years. But I’m thinking about dropping it because it seems like every year fees go up. Also if you have two problems at one time, you have to do two different separate tickets. If you can put everything on one ticket and get it taken care of with one contractor, that would be great. But as of right now, overall experience with them for the last 12 years has been okay.

I had a plumbing issue for which AHS sent out BB Lewis Plumbing. It got fixed and the guy was excellent. He was in my house before and he was very professional, on-time, and fast. I have no complaints about him but I have a lot of complaints about American Home Shield. I have multiple rental properties and since the job market is very bad, they only have two contractors for electrical issues in their Austin location. It is very hard to get them because all these contractors work all over Texas.
Aside from that, when I would call AHS, most of my calls went to the international call center and these international people don’t understand what you are asking for. For example, I wanted an electrician and because of my previous experience with one of the two contractors that they have here, I told them that I didn’t want that contractor to come to my house. But they kind of forced me and they didn't understand the rule in this country. They also take multiple payments, which is wrong.
I'm not happy about about their coverage on electrical parts either. When I was asking for a service on the ceiling fan that had a problem, they denied the service because they said that it was outside. It is in a covered part that is attached to the main house and the rule says that the appliance has to be in the main floor and attached there to be covered by the warranty. It should be attached to the wall and share the same foundation. So there is a controversy and there are some rules that need to be stated clearly.
Other than that, when a contractor didn't show up, I still had to pay $70 beforehand and it was very difficult to get that $70 back. I had to call four times and the contractor who came over my house later didn’t do the job he was supposed to do. So I'm experiencing some communication problem in Austin and it is getting very bad. If they don’t make improvements, they're gonna lose a lot of customers.
I apologize for the inconvenience. I just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

He started with the tub, and the upstairs bathroom, and then unclogged the downstairs bathroom. He did everything in about 20 minutes. After I got the hang of submitting claims, it’s not too bad. I could either do it online or make a phone call. The problem is when I call, I don’t know what my account number is. And it’s usually quicker for me to get online and do it. Also, with AHS, approving or ordering the repair parts takes a while. When my appliance broke on me, it took three weeks and the contractor didn’t fix it. Then when it was finally halfway working again, another technician came out after 30 days to fix it again. It was after the 30-day window and I had to pay another deductible. AHS finally got the Sears people out here and got it fixed the way it’s supposed to be fixed. It’s a little louder now but it is what it is. AHS should extend the window for a warranty to 90 days after a service technician’s visit.

I had a problem with my heater and air-conditioning thermostat, and AHS had to have somebody come out here four times before our heater was working. It’s getting to be winter time and it’s getting chilly out here, so I'm not real happy about that. AHS should be more responsive when I contact them, not transfer me around to people that don’t know what the issue is. Every time I get transferred, I got to explain it over and over again. They should also contract with contractors that know what they’re doing. For this guy to come out here four times to keep replacing parts is ridiculous. It just so happened that my wife had a day off during the week. Otherwise, we would have had to miss work all those days, and that’s crazy. I also had an issue when my refrigerator went out, and now the ice maker is not working.
Amazing Plumbing and Rooter came out recently and the tech showed me what the issue was, fixed it and was in-and-out in about two or three minutes. There’s a latch in the bowl that needs to be pulled every time you flush the toilet, and it became loose. I thought it had broken, but he showed me how to reattach it. There was no new equipment that was used. It was a simple fix, and it’s been working ever since.

There was a small type of waterless tank heater, and there was a pipe that was coming off of it that was dripping water. Plumbing Specialist came out to fix it months ago and then it started happening again. I went through my basement, and then I realized the room that it was in, the whole floor, after a while it had water all over the floor, 'cause it was just a small leak. It seemed like it dripped for a week. I went online to file a claim with AHS and clicked through the options. To set up the appointment, it was pretty easy.
The contractors were only here for a few minutes. They fixed the issue. They were professional and they didn't leave a mess. And they followed up in a decent time frame. My only complaint was that it was fixed prior and then the same issue occurred, and I spent the $80 for them to come out, and I feel like that they should have just fixed the same issue for free the second time. I was hoping that there was gonna be a different company that came out 'cause the first company that came in, they just fixed it and left and didn't give me that much information, so I figured it was good to go. The heater is still working now and there's no leak. The repair definitely helped out because that could've been a lot of damage to my basement and then if my water heater went out, it would have caused chaos with me and my kids.

My landlord originally had another company and the closest person for some of the issues I had was two hours away. And they were only there on Wednesdays during business hours so I’d have to take off work. It has been much better with this AHS because they usually use local people. During my most recent claim, the contractor came out exactly a week after I discovered the issue, which was five days after I submitted the claim, including the weekend. He was very sweet and he was there for about half an hour. He immediately knew exactly what the problem was. My oven had funny numbers on it when I tried to bake with it. Instead of 350, it said 177. I have three kittens and apparently, they’ve been playing on the stove and changed it from Fahrenheit to Celsius. It never dawned on me that they could do that.
Recently, I did the $75 Terminix special AHS had and it has not been a good experience. They came out after I made the appointment and I said, "This is my problem.” I knew I was gonna need multiple visits and require setting up a contract. The first guy came twice, but I was late getting back in the time window. The first time, he called me a couple of hours later and asked if I was at home. I said that I must’ve missed him because I got home about 15 minutes after the window. The second time, I came from 50 miles away and was late, but I never heard from him. Nobody came after my last appointment was set up. The lady came out and gave me her card with her phone number. I called but it has been three weeks. She should’ve been back last week. I left a message on her cellphone, haven’t heard from her. I have German cockroaches and they need to go. I called a different pest control company today.

Our water heater broke on a Saturday two weeks ago and the contractor American Home Shield hired came on Tuesday. They took a look at the water heater and said it’s at an age where there's no way it can be fixed, so they had to replace it. On Wednesday morning, they contacted me and said the warranty replaced the water heater but I had to pay for the code upgrade. They tried to rip me off and charge $720, which doesn't include the water heater or putting it in. They gave me a list of charges and half of them are not even needed. At first, they tried to charge me $50 for a dripping pan that's $10 anywhere else, then there's the 250 for an expansion tank which I can get anywhere else for a lot cheaper too.
They also charged me a valve or the opening, which I already have in the pipe, so I have no idea where all the charges are coming from. I told them I'm not gonna pay for it. I called American Home Shield and told them that's not acceptable. They told me that they can do a cash-out option for me and what I needed to do was just send in the receipt then they will reimburse me up to 660 something. I took the cash out option where I was taking a $250 loss because it was cheaper than how much their contractor told me. I got a contractor to get the cost down within 175 and I submitted the receipt last Thursday.

It's a $75 thing, and the contractor did a bunch of things to make sure that our furnace is good for the winter and I wanted it checked out since we're pretty new in the house. They said everything was in good working order.

Submitting claims with American Home Shield is usually good. Sometimes, the system makes it tough for me to locate my record. Sometimes, it happens randomly. But once it locates the record, it always been a good experience. Their customer service gives me a call to tell me that my service has been scheduled. So, they’ve been pretty decent. The contractors have been good, typically professional and they do their job well. The only thing is I’ve called American Home Shield a couple of times for a blocked kitchen sink, and it’s the same sink. There was a time when within a month, I had to call American Home Shield thrice for the same problem, and the plumbers who came just unclogged the sink and one week later, the problem would happen. So, I gave up after a while and then just called a independent plumber and got it fixed.

Our hot water heater was leaking. I went online and put an explanation what the problem was. And within probably an hour, I got a call from the plumber that AHS worked with, and within three hours somebody was here with a truck and a new water heater and swapped it all out for us. So it was no more than six hours by the time I went online and then by the time they got here, swapped it out, and left. It was very quick. Two young men came out, and they were very pleasant.
This warranty thing was included when we bought the house. And we have gotten extended warranties before with cars and TVs and stuff, and they never did anything. So I said, "Whatever. You wanna include that, you can. But I know that it won’t pay for anything.” And then, in the end, it did. So I'm much more open to the idea of renewing with them after this claim.

I've been dealing with American Home Shield for years and a couple of years ago, they sent a contractor out that lied and claimed that I had roots in my drainage system. I paid for another contractor to come out and clean out my lines and they found no roots or breakage in the line. I tried to go back to American Home Shield and say the guy lied, but they didn’t care. If they get a claim from a homeowner like myself that one of their contractors is not on the up and up, then they should investigate. I also expected them to pay for the second contractor because the first guy lied, but they did not. I paid out-of-pocket. Still, I’ve called AHS for different things and they've done a decent job. I had my garage door opener fixed, I had my garbage disposal done, I had my washer-dryer fixed, and I had some plumbing fixed too.
Hi Patrick,
I am glad to hear about your most recent American Home Shield claim and the appliances and plumbing issues that were repaired. I hope you continue to enjoy the contractors that AHS provides.

We had a really bad experience with the other home warranty company that we had. I did reviews and research, and then talked to people that had all the different warranties, and American Home Shield had the better reviews and better experiences, overall. I used them for the first time last month and it was really good. We did the claim online and it was super easy to do. And then it told us who the company was gonna be. But I still called the company and left a message because it was the course over the weekend. I just helped get their attention before they got the request on Monday from American Home Shield.
The claim was for the air conditioner, and the tech knew exactly what was wrong and fixed it right away. But with our last home warranty company, the guy that they sent didn’t seem competent at all. He was here five times over two weeks for such an easy part to fix. So, I definitely had a much better experience this time with American Home Shield.
Every time I’ve called American Home Shield, it’s been an actual person I’ve gotten to talk to and that helped in explaining things. When we were renewing, I asked them about the void and what are the cons if I needed to wait for 30 days, since we had coverage already. Somebody got on the phone and they answered us right away. And there wasn’t like some emailing process or finding a 1-800 number, or some craziness that we’ve had experienced in the past.

The dryer was not working. It was not heating. So the heating element had gone out on it. I could let it run for three hours and I wouldn't get anything dry. Sears was sent by AHS, and the experience went very well. They had to order a part. It was shipped to us and then they came out a second time to install it. I know those guys, and the quality of their work is excellent. I'm firmly well satisfied with AHS.

My water heater wasn’t working. I went online to file a claim and I was able to easily expedite things on the AHS website. I was assigned a contractor and I was provided with the company’s phone number. I called that company directly and the person there confirmed everything with me. Blue Star Plumbing was fabulous. They provided a timeframe as to when they were gonna show up and they did exactly what I asked them to do. I was out of town at the time they came but my daughter was there and she had no complaints. I’m satisfied with American Home Shield and I'll recommend them.

There were some outlets and GFI that were not working. The contractor called to schedule and he was on time and he did a perfect job. He changed some GFI and circuit breaker switches there and he corrected the electrical issues. He was great and knew what he was doing and he finished the job in a timely manner. Also, American Home Shield was an excellent service provider for the repair works.

The thermostat wasn’t turning the furnace on, but the heat works when we turned it on manually. It was horrible because we had an arctic blast and we didn't have heat for a little while. I submitted the claim online and it said that I'd get a call within 24 hours. I got a call just a few hours later and we scheduled. The guy came out the next day and it was excellent dealing with him. He’s on time, very professional, friendly and informative. Everything works perfectly now and I highly recommend American Home Shield. I also like their website and it works really well.

Everything has been wonderful with American Home Shield. They had a special to do a winter tune up for $75, and that was what Air Design Air Conditioning & Heating came out to do. I use the online option to submit claims all the time. I punch it all out and everything, and some lady gets back to me that day or next. I also get an email that day early too. Any time I have ever called them for something, whatever it was, they have sent a really good representative. I have had lots of problems with my air conditioner and heat because it is almost 25 years old, and they fixed that. Everything turns out good. One time last year, I had somebody come out to fix something on my refrigerator too and that was good.

I have gone on the internet and checked Home Shield out before I went to them. I also have a daughter-in-law that's got Home Shield, and that's the reason I went to them too. I got people out here when the furnace wasn't working, and got it taken care of. The person knew what he was talking about. The whole thing went great. I called Home Shield and spoke to the rep for this claim. But a lot of times I use the website if it's something that's not real important. It took about four days for the contractor to come out here for the furnace. It was a little longer than I wanted. The guy that had worked on it had just been out here the week before and did a cleaning on it. I woulda preferred to have them come out a little sooner because when I had a different home warranty company, they had somebody out here within two days, but I did not like their service people. Overall, I'm happy with Home Shield so far.

I've been with American Home Shield for over 15 years. When submitting claims, I just get on the telephone and someone is always there to take my call. And their technicians have always called me back every time that I have called. I’ve had washing machine, dishwasher, dryers, and I’ve always gotten good response. That was why I continue with them. The latest claim was the heating unit and it went very well. It would not come on and Piedmont Mechanical Contractors came out, but they had to come back twice. The first guy that came got it done and it lasted a couple of days. And it went back down. The next guy came out and he realized that he had to replace something. The time frame and the interactions I had with them were good. And so far, the heating is doing good.

Our furnace is 18 years old. We had Cozy Comfort come out to do the winter service and cleaning. The guy noticed that the fan was running really high and it was making a really loud sound. So, he recommended getting it replaced, which he did. Then it was making a louder sound than the one before, so he came back out three times to try and fix it. A week later it got really cold here, so it really was running. Then it blew a fuse and went out. So, the guy came back out and he said that it was time to get the furnace replaced. We also ended up doing the upgrade service from American Home Shield ‘cause we were gonna go ahead and get a new air conditioning 'cause it was also 18 years old.
The communication with American Home Shield has been really dicey. I just needed to get an idea of when I would be getting my new furnace because originally they told me 5 to 10 business days. Once we got to 11 business days, I called AHS and the woman I talked to said that she could help me. I asked her what the hold up was and that if my furnace was coming and she just said that she could help me. She was just repeating herself and it was almost as if I was talking to a robot.
The woman kept me on the line for 20 minutes and I told her that she hadn't given me any answer. Then she said that she didn't know and that she couldn't see anything and I told her that it didn't make any sense to me. She was pretending like she was helping me, but she never would help me. It was really frustrating. I asked if I could talk to somebody else but the woman said that I couldn't. I thought I was being scammed even though I was about to pay six grand for a new air conditioning unit.
The guy from Cozy Comfort has been so responsive. He answers my calls 'cause he's worried that I don't have heat and he has been really helpful. He said that he would be here the minute he could get the furnace. He’s not gonna make me wait four days to schedule him. But I still don’t have the furnace and it has been a while. Recently, I called American Home Shield and the guy that I talked to this time was more helpful. He at least could say to me that the furnace was back ordered and that it should be in soon, whereas this other woman was acting like she didn't know English.
I’ve had AHS for about a year and this is my first major thing. I had done plumbing stuff, which was fine. They sent a plumber, cleared the drain and I paid a flat fee. I also had the furnace serviced the year before. As far as getting the person to come out and all that, it’s pretty easy because it’s not an emergency. But with this thing with the furnace, it doesn't make sense to me. According to Cozy Comfort, AHS technically has warehouses full of all this stuff. But whatever I needed, they obviously didn’t have which caused the problem. AHS needs to improve on getting the consumer the exact timing of when the item will be replaced especially when something big happens. Also, I find myself to be pretty clear but the people that I’ve talked to don’t understand what I’m saying.
Stephanie,

In fact, the third one was real dim, and so it looked like there was some kind of short or bad connection going on somewhere. We needed somebody to figure it out. I’m grateful that we signed up with American Home Shield. Their competition's contracts were really weird to understand and AHS has been more friendly and awesome. I was surprised that my claim for the heater went really well. We filed the claim on Wednesday and, sadly, it took two days for the contractor to come out. He came out on a weekend and at first, I thought, "This is really gonna happen,” because the last time I filed a claim, I found out I had asbestos and the plumber had to go. But this guy was awesome. He was early and very friendly. He said the heater really needed to be serviced. It would come on and shut off automatically. He identified the problem and got our heater working. I would definitely wanna use Clovis Heating and Cooling again.

A couple of days before the house was going to close, there was some water at the bottom of the pedestal sink in the guest bathroom upstairs. Filing a claim to AHS was really simple. I didn't have to do a bunch of paperwork. I called the number and the person that I talked to said that they were gonna call somebody to come out and fix it, and those folks should be calling me soon. Sure enough, they called shortly thereafter and they were on their way. The contractors that AHS sent out were excellent. The two men showed up and they understood that I had another commitment. I needed to head to the airport at 10 o'clock and it was 8:30. They knew I was in a hurry so they went and figured out what was wrong, and then they said that they didn't have the parts that they needed. So, they ran out to Home Depot, which was 10-15 minutes away, got back and fixed it well before my 10 o'clock departure. I was really impressed. AHS worked well for me.

Overall, AHS has been good and in the past, they covered anything I've had a problem with. When I filed an online claim for the microwave and an oven, they notified me when to expect the contractors. The contractors also notified me when they’d be out and when they were on their way. The hinges on the microwave's door don’t allow the door to shut completely so the microwave would start then it would stop. The tech did everything that was required and fixed it. But the claim for the oven doors was denied. They said that it wasn’t covered, which I wasn’t happy with.
