    American Home Shield sends someone out within a week. Sometimes it's much quicker, but this last one, we're still waiting for them. They came out and they diagnosed it, and now we're still waiting for them to bring the part. And sometimes with Home Shield, they wait for the thing to practically fall apart. We've had this item repaired a couple of times, and instead of going ahead and saying, "It's now over 20 years old, we might as well just replace it," they drag it out. But GM Appliance Service came out tp the rental home and repaired the dryer. The contractors were professional and knowledgeable.

    American Home Shield is good, and I am satisfied with them. They explained the warranty and they explained the parts they did not cover so I knew that ahead of time. When I saw that my water bill was high, I had to call the city of Greensboro. They then told me that I could possibly have a leak. Also, they told me that the hot water I have was in a terrible condition. Dave’s plumbing Repair was sent out by AHS to service the plumbing issue. The technician saw all the damages and the condition that the hot water heater was in. It was in terrible shape, and it could have went out on me any minute. The water heater needed to be replaced as soon as possible, and it was replaced.

    The technicians were very good. They explained to me what was going on, but I wished they gave me the manual to the hot water heater so I know what kind it was. I had someone from American Home Shield to call the owner and he gave me two different names but he wasn’t for sure which one would do the work. So, I still wanted to have the manual to the hot water heater just in case I need it for something. It is good to always be knowledgeable of what you have in your house. I can have knowledge for myself if I need to know how to turn the temperature down. If something goes wrong, I might have to call somebody out there again and this way, they'd know what type of hot water heater I have. When you buy new appliances, they always give you a booklet to go along with it, and they always give you a warranty to go along with it too.

    Claims with AHS are easy. Currently, I have a problem with my heater that is still not resolved and AHS is still working with me. My heater is getting to the point where it's gonna have to be replaced. I can turn it on and it would cycle a couple of times but then it would come on and blow cold air. Unless their contractor catches it blowing cold air, they can't tell me what's going on.

    The last time they tried to fix my unit, I left it on until AHS' contractors got to my location. The tech fixed a part and he thought that fixed my unit because that part having an issue was the code that my unit threw. But now, my unit is still going off and on. I'm waiting for the problem to happen again so I can call the tech and he can call the escalation team and say that he is going back out. So far, I wish that the contractors AHS uses for heating and air are closer. Their electricians are from out of town too. I had a problem with one of them but then AHS and I got that straightened out. Their plumbing people are local and I don't have a problem in the world with them.

    Consolidated Mechanical, the contractor that was sent out, was fine and prompt. It did not take more than a half hour to get my AC problem fixed and he knew exactly what it was. It was a fuse outside and he took it off, put it on, and fixed it. It was a great experience. I’ve been pleased with American Home Shield when I’ve had to call them. I have been with them for so long and this year, it seemed I have to call a lot more.

    Going online is good to use for claims. Through phone is a lot of waiting. Then AHS sends somebody within 24 hours. The contractor for the dryer was very nice. He came several times to fix the problem. He finished the job, so we’re pretty satisfied with him.

    My relatives had good experience with them, so we also got them. When my heater wasn't working, I filed a claim online. Because of the bad reviews that American Home Shield got, I did a search of the company they were going to send me, and Ample Air System got very high reviews. They came out and there was no issue with timing on them coming out. They were very knowledgeable and they were able to fix my problem. Everything seemed to work well the way American Home Shield's service was structured. If something is not working correctly, you put the claim in. Then in less than 24 hours, I got a response saying that they've already assigned it to somebody.

    My husband and I purchased a home warranty policy from AHS when we bought our house in 2015. Recently, we started to have problems with the ductwork and we were getting sick often, so we decided to have it looked at. We were told we had mold and condensation from breaks in the ducts and bad seals, as well as fiberglass from the plenum. The ductwork is original to the house (built in 1980) and had never been serviced. According to the contract, the breaks in the seal and wear and tear due to normal use (not user error) were supposed to be covered, and were noted in the report from the contractor, but we were denied the claim because there were "no mechanical failures" since "air flowed through the ducts".

    When we disputed it, AHS sent another contractor, who noted the same issues with the breaks in the seal, the old ductwork, etc., and included it in the report, but we were denied again, and were told that no problems were noted on the report (which is a lie). When we called AGAIN, we were told a supervisor would return our call within 48 business hours; more than a week later, we are still waiting for the call. We were forced to look for an independent contractor to do this job, since we did not want to continue to expose our 2 year old daughter, ourselves, or anyone else to fiberglass (known carcinogen) and mold spores. As soon as we are able, we will look for another home warranty company, since this is not the first problem we have had with AHS.

    I called regarding a dryer that was not heating, I paid $75 for a technician who requested change for the dryer. AHS asked me to select a dryer and pay for it, then provide the receipt and AHS will reimburse me. I bought the dryer for $575 and it was installed by Home Depot technician, I submitted the receipt to AHS, they said I have to pay another $75, and they will be paying me $480, I said OK.

    Since then and for more than 5 months I did not receive a penny, I keep calling and they put me on hold for hours, then an employee says: "Check was sent." The matter became very frustrating, I did not receive the check for more than five months, and when I asked to speak to a manager or a supervisor and I was left on hold for 1.5 hour then I was told someone will call me, which never happened. I do not recommend this company, I have multiple contracts with it and I will cancel them all. AHS do not value or respect people's time, and hard to communicate with its employees.

    My husband and I got married in 2017. We had AHS on both houses. We decided to live in my house and sell his. He moved in in 2017 and called 3 different time to cancel the AHS on his house and we thought all was taken care of as we were assured twice before. Now, in 2019 I find that we have been paying on the house we are living in until August 2019 and then they started taking money out of our account on the house he sold in 2018 and the warranty on the house we are living in was canceled. So, in essence we have been paying for a warranty on a house that we don't live in since August 2019.

    I have just had a Hot Water Heater replaced under my American Home Shield warranty. My contract clearly shows the Hot water Heater being covered as well as all related parts deemed necessary except. Auxillary holding or storage tanks- Noise- Fuel storage tank and energy conservation unit. I needed to have an expansion valve replaced due to the old heater not having one. This is a code requirement where I live and they cannot install a new water heater without this valve.

    I was told the valve would not be covered due to it being a code upgrade. In my contract, it says things such as they will pay for replacement parts related to necessary or required Heating and cooling parts that are needed. The necessary or required upgrade which they define as a replacement due to circumstances beyond the control of the contract holder or AHS because of things like government-mandated system modifications. Which is what this change in the code is.

    I realize the water heater is not HVAC but since the expansion valve was not listed under the not covered section and it is a mandated replacement out of both AHS and myself's control they should cover it. I paid $700 dollars of the cost of the repair, AHS would not return my calls, they could not tell me how much they had authorized to pay the contractor. The contractor they sent could not give me an estimate on the complete job either. Today is Wednesday and I had been without Hot water since last Friday. I can not in good conscience recommend this home warranty company to anyone. This is not the first issue I have had trying to use them but it is going to be the last as I am canceling my policy, today. Buyer Beware.

    I called in for a repair in September 2019 and my Whirlpool washing machine still is not working. AHS has sent two different service company, who each came two different times and each time they left they believed that the machine was fixed. (It takes about a week from each call into AHS to get an appointment set up) It was not fixed. I called to arrange to get the "contract replacement" option and after 3 calls in to AHS was left on hold for 25 minutes. After no one got back on the phone, I received a text that a new repair company would contact me to set up an appointment. Well, 3 months without a working washing machine was enough for me. They did not fulfill their contract and acted with no regard to the customer's satisfaction. I have cancelled my contract and will pursue their "replacement" payment via other means. I would say stay clear of this company if you want/need repairs to be done in a timely manner.

    The most recent claim with Choice 1 was to repair the refrigerator. The icemaker was not producing ice correctly, and that unit was replaced. Then on a follow-up to that, as a result of that particular repair and also replacing a filter, the refrigerator no longer produced the water. Choice 1 elected to take care of that without entering another claim back to American Home Shield as it was a byproduct. Being a very fine company that has paid close attention to us, they came back and checked on it after advising us to totally defrost the refrigerator. We followed that, which was a little inconvenient. Then the tech came back to check on it and make sure all the settings were correct, and we are now working with a good refrigerator. So, Choice 1 is an excellent company.

    American Home Shield was most responsive in this case. I have used them on two other occasions. When we bought this home, we had this home warranty policy that the seller provided. The air conditioning unit went out and American Home Shield was most accommodating, and that was replaced in totality. Then the hot water heater went out, and that was replaced in totality as well. So, we've had quite a lot to do with the policy, and I have only praise. It has certainly made our living day-to-day quite pleasant that all appliances are working perfectly.

    I had an issue at my rental property where my tenant had just moved in. Both showers were backed up. I asked American Home Shield's rep to see if they could get someone to come. Their tech from Premium One Plumbing was able to come out right away on a Sunday. Whenever I've had something that's urgent, they do their best to make the situation better for me.

    Sometimes though, when I'm going through their prompts, there's no prompt for what I'm calling about. The process of submitting a claim is a little trickier when I want service for something that's not one of the prompts. Also, I wish they had service for landlords with a quicker turnaround time than the standard service then maybe charge more for it. As a landlord, if I don't own a lot of properties, I'm left to my own devices when things happen. An "other" button would be helpful. Still, I've recommended AHS. They really stand out and they have amazing service which keeps getting better.

    I like Patriot Plumbing. They were pretty fast and efficient. The problem was in the corner of my closet and I didn’t pull the closet thing out. So, I was like, “Lord, I hope the person can fit back there.” The second time, I had it moved because that was like the structure in my closet. I had to remove one part of it when they had to replace it. But they were concerned if they can even fit in there because I could barely fit in there. So, I did say something to the guy when he came. He was early. He came at a good time. I was able to go to work on time that morning. The second time, they gave me a different window than my actual appointment. So, I waited there a lot longer than I would’ve wanted to. But it’s okay.

    I was dissatisfied that I had to pay for something else, though. Certain things and modifications have to be done if you’re replacing the tank itself. So, I didn’t understand why that wouldn’t be covered because it’s obvious you need to do that to get a new hot water heater. The tech had to get new pipes, but I feel like that’s something that one would have to do for any hot water heater. I had to pay $225. I wasn’t really happy with that. But it was a lot cheaper to have someone come in than getting a brand-new one on my own. I weighed it like that, but I had to call Patriot Plumbing to have them breakdown exactly what would cost any extra money.

    Fast Response Heating and Cooling came out to do the maintenance on our unit, and they were prompt and right on time. It seemed like it was a very quick checkup because the tech was here for maybe 15 minutes, but everything is working all right so I have no complaints. However, with heating and cooling, there's a gap that's left with Freon because of the expense and so they took it so they don't have a big outlay. But heaven forbid if we have a leak 'cause the full charge of putting in Freon is $350 to $400. So, it's a shame that they dropped that. Other than that, we are very happy with most everything else. We've been with American Home Shield for a good 20 some years, and our whole family has them.

    My sister had American Home Shield and she told me that they were really good. I went ahead with them and I've had them for about six months now. I submit my claims over the phone and my experience has been good. The contractors normally call me within a day or two. I'm pretty satisfied. But there was something in my pool that American Home Shield is not covering, and I don't understand it. I've talked to some people and they told me that they have covered it. So I'm kind of a little bit upset about it.

    I’ve had some good and bad experiences when filing claims. First of all, it takes about two weeks for the money to be transferred from the close company over to the warranty company. Until that time, I can’t submit any claims other than getting the house rekeyed. I wasn’t happy with that because we moved in and we had a bunch of stuff wrong, so we had two weeks that we had to wait. But once it got activated, then it was super easy to file a claim. The first time, I did the rekey, the only thing I could do was call them. After that, I do all online and that’s super easy. However, their people didn’t speak clear English and didn’t understand clear English. That was a little bit frustrating too, but we worked our way through it. They said that the contractor should be contacting us within 48 hours of filing the claim. They also gave us the contractor’s number and told us that we could also call them.

    There was one that was an absolutely horrible experience. I left numerous messages over a long period of time and the guy never returned my calls. I continued to call the warranty company, American Home Shield, and told them that I could not reach the contractor. I requested another one and they would not assign me, but they said they would try to contact the contractor. Then they never called me back so I kept calling. Finally, they said that they got through the contractor and that he'd be at my house on Wednesday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. I told the guy that I would have to sit at my house for that long without any information about morning or afternoon. They'd give no advance warning. They said sorry and that was it. Most of the contractors would not give a two to four-hour window.

    The first time that All City Plumbing came out was just for a clogged drain. The guy didn't know how to open up the drain ‘cause it has one of those pop-up drain things in the tub. He also didn't know how to open it to get the snake down into it. I googled it and I found out how to open it, so we finally did it together. He wasn’t super knowledgeable about this type of tub, which was only 17 years old. Once we got it opened, then he was able to put a little snake down there and pull out the clog then we were good to go.

    The second time they came out, we had an InSinkErator garbage disposal and a Whirlpool tub that were broken. The guy was knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing, but we still had not heard back on when the replacement parts would be in. I called them yesterday and they said they had not submitted it to the warranty company for approval yet. I asked them why not, and then they finally submitted it. They said that the lady would let me know when they have approval and the parts are in. I have no idea when that’s gonna be and I have no working garbage disposal and no working tub right now until I hear back from them.

    Everything is a wait. They come out, they look at it, and they never able to do immediate service. They always have to submit it for approval and then come back and do the work or order the parts. If you have time to deal with what you have to deal with and if you don’t mind things like we’ve been without heat for four weeks, then AHS is great. If you don’t wanna deal with that, then no, I would not recommend it. But I think AHS is a good service ‘cause it paid us thousands of dollars in the services that they did.

    My air conditioning stopped working, it wasn't blowing air. Comfort First Heating and Cooling came out and replaced the blower. And then, it still wasn't heating, so they came back out and they did another repair. But it still wasn't working properly so they were determined that it needed a new system. Now they're replacing it. The tech came out today to do the estimate for what I was gonna have to pay. The tech was very polite, respectful and professional. I have confidence in what he tells me. He tried to repair it and there was really no way to know that these other parts would not work either. The system was built in 1985 and when I bought the house six years ago, that's the reason I got the warranty. I knew that thing wasn't gonna last. It lasted six more years but it was just outdated.

    I'm glad we're finally replacing it but I didn't realize I was gonna have to pay $2,400 out of my pocket. I thought that everything would be covered and I didn't read the fine prints. They were paying for the handler and the outside unit but there were upgrades that needed to be done because there were things to get it to code. He went through the thing with me today. But I was really disappointed and upset that I had to come up with that money but it's all in the contract and the fine print. At least I'm saving some money.

    I called AHS once because of my refrigerator. There are several wrong things with it and the ice maker doesn't work. It has a big sheet of ice in the bottom. It works though, but it has some things that I just am tired of dealing with. They contracted out to somebody who doesn't even do those calls anymore so it took me a long time to even hear from them. I tried to follow up with American Home Shield but I never resolved it. And then, I just decided, "Forget it. I don't wanna spend the $80." Because it's still working, it just leaks. Comfort First Heating and Cooling has been very efficient on calling me that day and setting up the appointment. They were there when they said they'd be, so I appreciated that. But this other contractor they had for the refrigerator, they didn't even realize it wasn't doing work for them anymore. So, I don't have a lot of faith in who's out there to service my needs when the time comes.

    It took weeks for me to figure that out or for the woman to call me back. And while I'm venting, I did another claim. My microwave stopped working. So, I paid the $80, the guy came in and fixed the microwave. But it stopped working again. It was more than 60 days later so I couldn't call them back. I said, "Just forget it. I'm just gonna buy a new microwave." Sometimes, I wish that they would consider replacing things a little more than always trying to fix it and then it'd just be a temporary fix. And then, you'd call them again. So, that was frustrating. I've had to miss a lot of work for the three or four visits.     Everything went really well with my issue regarding the pipe going into the stove. It had to go to a different gas line to run to the stove. The contractor American Home Shield sent was able to fix stuff. It took them a few days but it was a lot worse than they thought it was gonna be. Moreover, they came right away. They have been the best contractors I've ever had come up to my house that AHS sent out. AHS is really convenient. When stuff goes wrong, I just give them a call and they send somebody out.

    American Home Shield handled my claim great when my furnace would not click on and wouldn't light. The tech from Nolan Harper showed up that afternoon, three hours after I started the process. They had to order a part and come back the next day and put it in. The only issue I have, just like everybody else, is when I call AHS they outsource to the Philippines or India and I couldn't understand them, so I usually ask for an American rep. Also I hope they could put my monthly rate back to where it was. But AHS has been doing fine. I've had them for probably 5 years and the contractors have been good. It's a comfort to have it. They fixed my washing machine once and my oven as well. I recommend it to everybody I know -- family and friends. My son also has it.

    We were buying a second home, and it was like 15 years old. We wanted to cover any issues we might have with it till we could bring it up to speed. Most people seem to think American Home Shield was reliable, so we went with it. I’ve used their website twice to have things done, and it was straightforward enough. The issues we had were very minor and very inexpensive. But it wasn’t quite as clear whether I needed to call the company or not once they told me who the company was. So I called the plumbing company myself. Once I called them, I realized that they were getting ready to call me, and that American Shield had already notified them. But that's a minor thing.

    When they don’t have a contractor and you have to find one of your own, getting reimbursed is a bit tricky. When I did what they said to do online, like emailing the information to them, it didn’t seem to work. I ended up having to mail all that information to them before I got a proper response. It got resolved, but it was a little more trouble than it needed to be to be resolved. But so far, the experience has been fine. There are a few wrinkles here or there, but you’ll find that in many organizations.

    We’ve had AHS for a while and sometimes they do good; sometimes they don’t. But more often than not, it’s an AHS problem; it’s not a vendor problem. AHS would send somebody who doesn’t know what they’re doing and the contractors are not the cream of the crop but they can get the work done. Most of the time, the issue is that somebody didn’t call, somebody didn’t take the claim right or somebody didn’t follow-up.

    I am moving so there were several items on the punch list that I needed to get done. One of them is about a pipe that was leaking in two areas. It turned out that it was actually only leaking in one area so the guy from Wade's Plumbing patched that up and then the other, he realized it was the toilet. So instead of patching up the pipe, he just fixed it. He resealed the toilets. So he did a good job. I’m pretty happy with his work.

    But the other ticket was a mess. I had to inspect an air duct underneath the house that appeared to be collecting condensation. So I put that ticket in at the same time and it got dispatched. The guy called me the next morning and asked what the problem was and I told him. But then he said they don’t deal with that kind of work. I told him that was funny because I had selected from the dropdown box then the problem code was, “Water in duct.” So I could have not been more clear. He said sorry and that they were just starting out.

    I called the lady at AHS and she said that she was gonna reassign the claim. I said fine but she reassigned it to the first guy who called me and said he doesn’t do that work and that was another two days. Then they reassigned it to a third person that I didn’t hear from in a week. But apparently, that guy didn’t know about the ticket because once I contacted him, he was here in two hours. He jumped under the house and had it all figured out. He was awesome but everything leading up to him getting here was horrible.

    We made a claim over the phone for the garbage disposal. Everything was pretty well-spelled out as to when we should expect the contractor to come out. The garbage disposal was not working, and they ended up replacing it. I was satisfied. American Home Shield was okay, except sometimes you can almost take care of the issue with the $75 fee. Garbage disposals are not really expensive. We could’ve put our own in. But as far as what American Home Shield did for us, they were good.

I had a wonderful electrician come out in my second to last visit, and he recommended that they dig up a couple of lines 'cause my lights were out. However, I was disappointed to find out that they did not allow him to do that. I'm a lawyer, and lawyers are the worst at taking care of ourselves. I didn't take the time to read my warranty so maybe they're right or maybe they're wrong. But that was the first occasion where I needed them to do something a little larger than average and they didn't do it. Still, I like the company a lot and I have been with them for about 2 years already.

    The water line broke in the yard and American Home Shield sent somebody out. The initial customer service with AHS was great. Right off the bat, the plumbing company told us that they had dealt with this thing with AHS and that they would deny it. It's crazy that these companies already know that American Home Shield is gonna deny your claim before you can get a response back from them. Sure enough, AHS declined it. This is the second time that I've had a claim denied by them and I'm asking myself why I even have them.

    The initial customer service with AHS was great. I previously had American Home Shield at my other residence in El Paso, Texas and it was great. I live in Schertz, Texas now but it seems like they don't cover certain things. Then there's no way to upgrade your policy. You have to wait for the policy to expire or cancel the current policy and start over. If a new homeowner comes on board, AHS should have the opportunity or anyone along the way to pay the extra money to upgrade the policy. It shouldn't be like you'd have to wait a year. I have to wait till May to have the opportunity to upgrade my policy or forfeit the current policy and actually pay full price for the new policy.

    We had two claims in a row. One for the garage door and the other was for the refrigerator. AHS contracted Cd's Appliances for the latter and a very nice man named Josh came. He diagnosed the problem and said they had to get a new part. That was on a Thursday. He said the part could come in in time for me to get the refrigerator done that week, but if it didn't, it would definitely be here by Monday. He would be calling me by the first thing Monday morning. He said that was most likely to happen so I shouldn't be disappointed if I didn't get the refrigerator done in the weekend.

    Sure enough, he called Monday morning at about 9:30 and said the part had come in and he made arrangements to come on Wednesday. He did and he took care of the problem very quickly. He knew exactly what it was. I was having water that was building up in one of the bins and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from and how it was getting in there. We were very good to have had it taken care of and there has never been a drop since then. He took care of whatever was doing it. It was a very pleasant experience all the way around.

    We also made a claim with AHS when our garage door was stuck. You don't realize how much you do not want your garage door stuck down unless the alternative happens and it sticks up. The down is preferable, especially when you have your entire garage full of stuff exposed to the neighborhood. That claim took a little longer too, but it wasn't because AHS wasn't on it. There was a part that didn't come in and it was a specialized part that the contractor needed.

    This was a whole different contractor. Ace came out and they did a nice job. They also were extremely nice. They came out because our garage door was originally stuck up and they got it lowered for us, which was an extra trip out. But that gave us a great sense of security so we were so glad that even though they knew it wasn't gonna be a quick repair, they made a priority of getting out here to get the door balanced. That's one of the things that I'm really noticing - consideration of the customer. The contractor was about it with the refrigerator too.

    I give both contractors high marks, especially Ace. You don't know how good it was to know that our garage door was safe at night. We didn't wanna get animals inside. Ace techs hiked themselves out here as soon as I called to get that door down. They didn't say, "Well, we normally have two weeks to do this and we'll be there next week." They said, "We'll try to get a man out this afternoon. Will you mind if it is later in the evening if he cannot get there in the afternoon?" We really appreciated their effort. I was very satisfied with AHS' service. Both of the contractors did their job well. I know that there is a delay when you have to get a part. You can only go as fast as a part will go. But they have shown that they do not unnecessarily waste time and they do have the customer very much in mind.

    So many things are not lasting and not lasting very long at all. And as a result, American Home Shield provided the service and the warranties for different appliances and different other necessary things in the home that seem to be going out more quickly today. They’ve been very helpful when I submit a claim. We just had an occasion where we needed new dishwasher racks and they were very prompt in setting up an appointment. Now, they have six choices of places that they could choose from for that particular job. And the person that came out, Sears, was really awful. I called them and they immediately said, “No, you don’t need to deal with that.” They switched me to another appliance company that came out immediately and corrected all problems.

    We’ve had a couple things done and the people that came out were very good. The one that we had on our washing machine was terrific, and he was from Sears. The guy who did something on our furnace was great and very knowledgeable. The company that came out with our dishwasher was also great. Recently they sent someone from Mr. Appliance who was absolutely wonderful. It could not have been better.

    This has very poor customer service. They’re great when you sign up. They call you and I’m very responsive. What is they start taking your money they don’t answer the phone. They put you on hold for an hour and they don’t call you back. After the poor service I attempted to Cancel the account in September, as of December to still take the money out of my bank account. Multiple calls. Multiple customer service reps, David use the closing account. I had to call my bank and have them put a stop hold on American Home Shield. Don’t waste your time. You’ll regret the POOR customer service yes ma’am.

    Updated on 02/10/2020: I can't update the review I posted on December 10th, but they just keep getting worse. They finally got their required 2nd opinion "contractor" to show up at my house (after no-show). I put contractor in quotes because this person showed up in baggy sweat pants, in an unmarked old Toyota Corolla, no tools, no business cards or anything to make him look like anything other than a serial killer. He briefly looked at my boiler, played with my dog, used my bathroom and left. He didn't write anything down or give me any paperwork.

    I called AHS immediately and told them that no one from this "company" was allowed in my house again, can I please just have the first guy they sent out fix it. They said no. Either I accept this "contractor" or I get the work done myself, send them proof of repair, and they will reimburse me. I got the work done, sent them the proof of payment of $1,300, sent several follow up messages, waited the 10 business days to receive check and nothing. I just used their website's chat function to check status of reimbursement, and am told they never got the proof of repair, they need to send out a technician to do a "complete diagnosis". ****WHAT?!?**** I already have a cash in lieu offer and have completed and paid for the the repair. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they have to submit a request and a supervisor will call my cell at their convenience in 24-48 hours. I'm hoping posting a bad review will get their attention again.

    Original review: Sitting on hold right now . . . An American Home Shield warranty was provided for us when we bought our home. We were really glad, because less than a month after moving in, the boiler started leaking. I went online, submitted a request (paid the service call fee) and a wonderful contractor came out to our house. He found a small leak, but wasn't authorized to fix it because AHS required more information. We provided copies of our home inspection, but they still required a second opinion, so first contractor put some tape over the leak temporarily.

    Second contractor was scheduled to come yesterday between 9-12. At noon, I tried calling the contractor. Got voice mail. Called AHS (which took over 15 minutes). They said all they could do was call & message. No response. Contractor never showed up or responded to any of my texts/voicemails. There is no way to contact AHS other than call and sit on hold. **change subject line to AHS just hung up on me** I started typing this message half an hour ago, and still haven't been able to reschedule the missed appointment. I should be able to send a message on the website and have someone reply when they have information, rather than having to call India and sit on hold. It's been frustrating.

    I like the fact that all I have to do is request a repair and within a few hours, Home Shield sets something up. I used to do it on the phone but now, I can do it online, so I just do it online. The contractor normally calls me within 24 to 48 hours, depends on if I get it on a weekend or not. They always work around my schedule and they're always very prompt. 99% of the people that I've had to deal with were fabulous. The ones that I didn't have a good time with, they weren't able to fix it. I tell them if I don't want anybody from a facility again. And when I had to call somebody back, they're always really good. It's always been wonderful.

    I had Bob's Pool & Spa and the gentleman was very nice and prompt. One time, when he had to come back, I thought he was supposed to come back another day and I wasn't home, but he was willing to wait till I got there. Then, he fixed the pool and we were done. He was great. I always recommend Home Shield to anybody who's buying a new home or is buying a home. It's unfortunate my neighbors don't listen to me and they've had to replace appliances and large items and it costs them an extreme amount of money.

    Updated on 12/26/2019: Absolutely useless. NO dishwasher now since before Thanksgiving. 2 companies have been out first one 3 weeks messing, second one a further 2 weeks. Had message from AHS was on monday Dec 23rd (after call from repair company saying they could not find one of the parts) saying technician would be at my house on Xmas Eve between 1-4pm. I rushed everything to make sure I was home so we would have a dishwasher when I had 10 people in the house. HE NEVER TURNED UP. I called him to check. He Never called back. So I wasted My whole afternoon on Xmas eve for NOTHING.

    AMERICAN HOME SHIELD IS A ** company that is quite happy to mess you around for weeks and uses very questionable repair companies. I doubt this review will appear on this website as I could not find one bad review and yet they are a B rated company on BBB. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, READ THE REVIEWS AND BUY A DIFFERENT POLICY.

I called AHS after one week because the company does Not answer calls and the website they advertise is non- existent. I was told by escalation team (after waiting on hold for 40 minutes) that the company needed to talk to the tech and would call me right back. THAT'S 5 DAYS AGO. I am on hold again with AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. THIS TIME FOR 36 MINUTES. This company is RUBBISH. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.     The Appliance Guy was great. The technician was extremely nice. He came in and he looked at the washing machine. He said it was broken and that I couldn't use it. He reached in and he shook the tub, and he said if they had to repair that, it would cost more than a new machine. He said it was no good. He let American Home Shield know about it, and then they contacted me and told me that I should pick out a new machine. They gave me several options and I picked out one, and I got a new machine.

    When I had a claim for the refrigerator, they sent several repair guys out. The first guy said it was ruined and it was gonna have to be replaced. Then the second guy came out and looked at it, and he said, “That’s fine,” and left. And the third guy that came out, he looked at it and took it apart, and then told me that it was freezing up down there, so I have to unplug it and turn it off every three or four hours and then let it sit for a couple hours, and then turn it back on. We called and said that it was not working that way. So somebody else came out and he said the board in the freezer part had gone out, and they couldn’t find one. And then they sent me a thing that said that I could get another one and to make sure it fits in the same spot, which it does. It took a really long time to get it, but it’s awesome having a refrigerator after six weeks.

    The claims process is definitely easy, and it’s all online or over the phone. I just tell them what’s going on, and then they schedule appointments, people start calling me, and everything happens. But to improve their service, if they’re gonna be sending another person out, they should call the insured person and say, “Hey, we’re sending another person out.” Because in my latest claim, there was a miscommunication and I was not aware I was gonna have more than one company come out to me.

    I had a leaking water heater, and they originally sent out a different company. And then they followed up, for a second opinion with another company, which made it difficult. They didn’t tell me that they were sending the next person out for a second opinion. So, it pretty much delayed the whole transaction for a week and a half. And, Silverdale Plumbing & Heating was calling me saying, “Hey, we got a call from American Home Shield. We wanna come out and see.” And I was like, “Oh, no, it’s fine. It’s already been seen by someone else. I’m not sure why you were called.” And then nothing happened, nothing happened, and I never got an appointment made for the actual installation.

    Because the first people said, “Yeah, it needs to be completely replaced. We can’t figure out where the leak is coming from.” So, I was like, “Okay. No worries.” So, then I finally called American Home Shield, and they were like, “Oh, yeah, we need a second opinion.” And I was like, “Oh, well, great. I wish I would’ve known this a week ago.” But then after that, Silverdale Plumbing came out. AHS, I guess they had to order their own water heater instead of using what Silverdale Plumbing had on hand, which really sucked because I was without hot water. But in the end, it got replaced. Silverdale Plumbing was great. I haven’t had any issues with AHS other than a little bit of lack of communication. But other than that, everything went smoothly.

    There was no hot water coming out of the water heater. I called AHS for a service and the contractor that they sent out was good. It turned out that it had to be reset and the button that controls that locked it down. It had to be turned back on because there was the sensor that had humidity, and that triggered the whole thing to turn off. Now I have hot water.

    J & J Appliance Services went out to service the washer which was leaking on the last cycle. The tech found out that it was just one item that needed to be replaced, he replaced it and it’s working perfectly now. Three days before I called about it, I got to check it out and thought that the back pipe was loose. I looked at everything and it seemed that on its last cycle was when it started. So, I figured that it was something with the washer and not with the actual hookups. That was when I made the call to AHS. The rep I spoke with over the phone was very good. I really appreciated it. They were able to get somebody out here very quickly and the whole procedure was pleasant. It was very well-maintained and they gave me all the information I needed.

    Now, I like to talk with a representative when I have a problem because I wanna make sure first that that problem is covered. And if it is, they give me the name of the company that would be coming out to check it out. So, I’ve never had anything but pleasant people to deal with. Any questions I asked, they have all been answered. And they are very prompt in getting someone out.     I've been with AHS a long time and they do a pretty good job. One time, I submitted a heating claim and they sent A/C Rescue Inc. The tech found that there was wrong wiring on the board outside and he also found that my unit had too much Freon in it. He knew what he was doing and fixed my problem in about 45 minutes. He did an awesome job. I had a contractor out last year that I didn’t like at all. They were gonna charge me a lot of money to do the work and the new tech just fixed the same problem when it happened again this year.

    With the issue for the master bedroom, it looks like the aerator just needs to be replaced. And the issue for the kitchen faucet, it just needs a cartridge. We knew that when the plumbing company came out to first attempt to repair it. I called American Home Shield and I said, "This is what the plumbing company is saying the issue is. What steps do I need to take? This is the issue, they're gonna submit their invoice, but I need this taken care of." We're now past three weeks. Unfortunately, we are still waiting on everything to get fixed. There has been a very bad miscommunication between AHS and the plumber. There were times where every time I would call in, I would ask AHS, "Can you please refer back to the notes on December 2nd. There's notes that said AHS will order." And I would say something and they would agree with me, but then say the opposite. "Yes, ma'am. It doesn't show that."

    The plumbing company and I reached out several times to AHS. It took more than two and a half weeks of all of us going back and forth with AHS for me and the plumbing company to finally say, "Okay, we're no longer dealing with American Home Shield. Please order the parts and just bill me directly." It kinda negates the whole point of having AHS. But every time I would talk to someone, I would say, "This is what's going on. I'm checking on the status." They'd say. "Yes, ma'am." It was very frustrating. This will be my last month with AHS simply because the house should be sold in January. I've paid for my December bill, but that was very stressful to deal with. I literally just moved to Virginia last week, so this could've been handled before I even moved. So I'm sitting here, having to have a plumber and a Realtor go in there, which was a huge inconvenience.

    AHS have helped me several times before, but that was my last time calling them, and everything should've went fine. I had repeat calls and AHS never called me to update me. So all of that waiting, only to find out they weren't gonna order the parts to begin with. So each person I talked to was not really knowledgeable of what the process was. They could've just told me in the beginning that based on what the parts are, I'd have to be directly billed by the plumber and it could've been solved three weeks ago. So, I'm very dissatisfied with AHS.

    The dryer was making a loud, squeaking sound, and it was nerve-racking. A couple of days after I submitted the claim, a technician from Exclusive Appliance Repair was sent out. He didn't get the issue fixed quite the first time, but we have no problem with him. He said he had to install a pulley since there was something wrong with the pulley that turns the tub when it's drying. He had to make a second call on it and it was a couple a days for the part to get in, but he came right away. It only took about a day for him to get out there again. So, he installed the missing part and he told my wife what he did to straighten the dryer up. The dryer is working fine now and my experience was good. With American Home Shield, the only problem I have is it's expensive. But their service is fine.

    I had an inspection before I turned my heating system on, and they detected a leak. Then I called American Home Shield. Jet Heat & Air came out to check my heating system. Another company had come out and there was some controversy about whether or not there was carbon monoxide leaking. Then, Jet came out and said there was no problem, so I went and bought carbon monoxide detectors for every room. So far, they haven’t gotten off.     I was in the service for 28 years, so we’ve been moving around and this home is where we’re settling down. With it being an older home, we got the AHS home warranty added on to it just in case something was to go wrong. I've only had them for about six weeks, but I’ve already called them out twice. They were both plumbing related and both were resolved phenomenally. Both of the plumbers they sent out were fantastic. I didn’t know what to expect when I called AHS. I thought it’d be a bit more difficult to get stuff done, but it’s been very good. They just asked very few questions.

    They had a special for doing locks replacement and I had the locks replaced, and that was less than a stellar experience. I was getting ready to leave for an appointment and I thought he was done quickly. He went out to his van to change out the locks and said, “We’re all set.” I asked if he tested everything, he said he did and he left. I went around to double check everything and lock up the house. Lo and behold, he left one lock completely not even installed. I called right away because he had just left, and he didn’t answer his phone. I called back to their office and he was at another call so I’d have to wait. He didn’t come back until the end of the day, so I had to sit home all day waiting for him to come back and put the lock on. I sat here all day and missed an appointment. His excuse to me was, “I must’ve had a brain scatter.”

    Other than that, American Home Shield has been phenomenal. I’ve been surprised with how easy their claims process is. Every time I’ve talked to them on the telephone to schedule somebody to come out, they've been very responsive and they got back to me right away. The experience has been very good. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

    We've had American Home Shield since we first moved into our home, about year and a half ago. This was our first time calling in for service. We noticed a tiny pinhole leak in a pipe in our basement. This was on a fully accessible pipe, mind you. We were happy with how quickly they dispatched someone to our house, however the good feelings stopped there.

    My girlfriend received a call from an AHS representative and they left a message saying they weren't going to fully cover the repair because it was a "modification," as stated in "1F in your service agreement." So I looked up that clause in our agreement, and it states they won't repair issues to things that have been deemed defective by the Consumer Product Safety Commission--so basically things that have been recalled. This had me confused. It was a simple galvanized pipe. Last time I checked, galvanized pipe hasn't been recalled. So I give them a call.

    The first representative I spoke gave me a different reason that our repair was only being partially covered. They state again that it's because it's a modification, but this time it's because of clause 4A, which states that "costs of construction, carpentry, or other modifications needed to remove, relocate, or install equipment." This also bewildered me. This was a simple pipe replacement. No demolition or alterations to our home were necessary. It was an open pipe in my basement. They replaced the old galvanized pipe with a new Apex pipes. A simple replacement of an old, worn out pipe. So I ask to speak with someone with more knowledge of our plan.

    The next woman says that it's strange that this was flagged as being not covered if all they did was replace a pipe. I said I agreed and she told me she'd contact the plumber for more information and that she'd call me back. Well, I never heard anything from them and my girlfriend eventually had to pay the plumber the difference. I then placed another call to AHS and the representative couldn't give me a specific reason in our service agreement as to why it's not being covered and they couldn't say anything other than it's a "modification." EVERYTHING IS A MODIFICATION. They could use this legalese to get out of anything.

    So, I asked to speak with the person that was supposed to call me back. She said she'd contact them and I'd hear back from them, but no timetable as to when. That's where I stand right now as I type this. I've spent several hours today calling AHS and pouring over our service agreement to try and understand why on earth they wouldn't cover a simple pipe replacement in our basement. The plumber was only there for an hour. It was a simple repair. And guess what? Even the plumber apologized and said it was ridiculous that they weren't covering it. All this so that AHS can save $321. This is just appalling customer service. So just FYI to anyone thinking about signing up for this. They can and will use this ridiculous "modification" excuse to deny coverage for your claim.

    American Home Shield has been awful, our furnace stopped working and it winter here in Massachusetts so it’s very cold. We paid our $100 and submitted our claim. 1st contract they send does know how to fix oil furnaces, but submits the claim that he completed the work when he did not. So we call and have to argue with the woman in the call center who I can’t even understand because she speak broken English. Then they send the 2nd guy out who gets our furnace running.

    We’re happy to have a heat again. But a week later it start banging when it starts like it’s going to explode when it comes on and the oil is leaking out, then the furnace dies again. So I call again and they want me to pay another $100 and submit another claim, because they say it’s electrical. How do they know that without coming out again and looking at it. So I told them no way, it’s only been a week. So now they have to get an approval to fix or replace it again and if it’s denied then we’re screwed. What are we paying all this money for then every month just to get ripped off! Not happy with this company so far. And have to with my lawyer. May see a lawsuit coming for false advertising.

    This is not a reflection of the overall level of service provided by AHS. Some of their call center Representatives, however, are not representing the company in a favorable light. Today I was left on hold for 18 minutes while the rep called the vendor to reschedule my service. She came back on the line to tell me the vendor had my account under the name of the person that used to own my home 6 years ago.

    1st, I thought it was ridiculous for her to come back (after 18 minutes) to question me when my AHS account is under MY name and address, regardless of who the vendor has in their own records for that address. 2nd, I've previously had several service calls through AHS. All she had to do was look at my account. Instead, she came back to ask me if I know who this other guy is. She took the vendor's obviously old information as viable, rather than being an advocate for her client. It made a simple request into a half an hour challenge. Additionally, English was not the service rep's first language, so communication was difficult - both for the rep to find the right words, and for me to understand her. So far, other than their call center service reps, AHS has matched my expectations based on the many positive reviews posted here.

    We put in a Service Request on October 10th as our Electrical Heating unit was not producing heat. It is December 9th and we still have no heat. I should stop the review there... 2 months and no solution. Unfortunately, our bad experience with this company does not come close to ending there. Our sensor in the Heating unit went bad and would not produce heat, AHS's contractor ordered a replacement part and it has been on back-order for 2 months with no timetable of when it will be come in...

    Essentially, the part is not available. Rather than try to see if the part is available through other manufacturers or cover a new system AHS will drag it out every time they are called. They say well the part is on backorder so we have to wait. Meanwhile my family suffers through a freezing Winter while AHS tries to delay actually having to cover the part or system. AVOID this warranty company at all costs, you will just waste money on the contract and service fees all for them to tell you the parts aren't available.

    So, most people probably looking at an additional home warranty for the same reason I did about 5 years ago. To have a peace of mind when the big stuff (air conditioning, etc.) happens. Well better save that $80 dollars a month yourself, because they will only cover up to $1500 and that is at a good day. They rather string you along and try to fix something half **.

    I signed up with American Home Shield Warranty. I used it once after about 2 years. It was for my well. That went very good. I was impressed and happy with all.

    Fast forward to about 6 month ago. I tried to use them again for a leak in my foundation. They sent their contract plumber (SWAT Plumbing). They quoted me a price of $2500. Seemed high to me since all they were gonna do was a bypass of one hot water line. I called two other companies. Both were cheaper and faster to deal with. I went with a local company that charged me $1000 out the door. American Home shield would only pay maximum of $1000 to help me with their plumber. They denied to pick up that cost from the company that I used. Unbelievable.

    I took time and effort to explain to several employees that they are getting done wrong by that plumbing company. They did not care. I spend at least 4 hours on the phone trying to deal with American Home Shield. Their phone service is horrible. When I asked to talk to a supervisor they told me no. That was at least 4 times I had to do that either because they were incompetent or I could not understand their English.

    Forward 1 month ago. My hot water heater went out. I gave them another chance, since my well experience was much better. Again, same bad service. When your hot water heater goes out, you expect somewhat faster service. After 24 hours of calling the company you have to use through them to fix the water heater, I was advised they have not even been contacted by American Home Shield. So I went to Home Depot and replaced the water heater myself with the help of a friend. Every time I tried to talk to their department they become argumentative. The only reason I am taking time to write this is because this is the worst treatment I have ever gotten. When you asked to speak to a supervisor and they refuse, I think that is really all you need to know when considering signing up. DON'T.

    My washing machine was not draining or spinning, and the contractor from C&C came out fairly quickly. The problem was waiting for the part to come in which took a little longer than I expected. What I also didn’t understand was we had said what the error code was and he was able to look up the parts, and when he first came out, they didn’t have one or some of the parts on the truck. I told him what the error codes were again, and he said, “That’s consistent to what we were doing.” He changed the board of the machine because when he came the first time, he told my husband he noticed there was a delay in selecting the load and sometimes, that could have an effect on the overall mechanics of the machine itself. It was really good that he gave me his card and told me, “Wash a few loads and if there's any problem, just call the company directly.”

    I go online whenever I submit a claim to AHS and their contractors typically call back within 24 business hours. I did an appliance claim on a Saturday and I wasn’t called until Monday. But they came out Monday and the contractors were fine. They were very knowledgeable. I was disappointed with the work on one, but I was happy with the other one. It wasn’t the worker himself. It’s just the switch that he put in was a recalled switch. I informed him of that and he said that as long as it’s working, that’s all they care about. So, I need to talk with AHS to address that. Other than that, I've been an American Home Shield customer for two years now and everything has been great.

    I called American Home Shield when I had electric issue and At Home Services came out and fixed it. After two days, it stopped working again. I called American Home Shield back and they were really, really good. They told me, “You don’t need to worry. We will contact them.” At Home Services were good people. They came out three times. The third time, they couldn’t fix it. So, they replaced the garage opener and now it’s working. They did their job perfectly. I've been with American Home Shield for eight months now and I will renew for sure.

    I've had American Home Shield about a year and a half now. I don't like the hassle of having to look up people whenever I need stuff and I normally get online to do my claim. It's fast. The website is good too. They tell me that I'll be contacted within 24 hours then I get a call that lets me know when people are coming and the companies are very good. When my bathtub was backing up, the plumber found out the contractor went through the plumbing line. I also put in the claim that my faucet was leaking, so he repaired it.

    I submitted a claim to AHS because the furnace just wouldn’t work. We just moved in and it didn’t power on when I tried it. The contractor that AHS sent for it was better than most I received. And he pushed a couple other buttons and it worked. It was a positive experience. However, we have a refrigerator claim that’s continuing. The contractors have been here three times. They’ve tried several things and it was working, and now they put in a new water valve, but I’m not sure it is working now. And so, that one’s not going as well.

    My wife had American Home Shield on her house in Georgia before we married and she was very happy with it. We got it here in Alabama as part of the purchase where the seller paid for it. We have not been nearly as happy with it here as we were there, but it is probably just a different plan. Submitting a claim online is easy, and it goes downhill from there. They send folks from out of town, you go through it two or three times trying to get something fixed, especially plumbing -- it has been a real pain.

    The AC people had, nevertheless, been pretty fair. The last guy, whom I have never seen before, did a wonderful job. He was not there half an hour and he had everything working. It did not cost anything extra, too. But, the other folks, some AC guys initially, have tried to upsell me by several thousand dollars. They were saying, "This whole unit needs to be replaced." Then one guy came out and said, "Have you checked the breaker?" When my electrician came out, he swapped out a breaker for 80 bucks, and everything works fine.

    My husband had an accident, and wasn't capable of fixing a lot of the repairs around the house. With us getting older, we needed to have something like AHS. We've had them probably for three to five years and have been very satisfied with them. It was how they presented their ad as far as the coverage for what I needed, and especially when I talked to them that made us go with them. I have to call them today for my latest claim 'cause I had to pay out of pocket and then they'll resubmit the money to me. That was when Sanders Gas came to fix my water heater.

    Sometimes, it is a long wait line on the phone to talk to someone. Now, you can do it online, and I have resorted to that in the past. I usually prefer to talk to someone though, if I can, and the representatives have been okay. Also, in the area that we live, they don't have a lot of choices for the contractors or the contractors are not available. Recently, the person that was sent could not repair. I had to call an outside provider, which they gave me approval to do.

    Quality Plumbing and Drain came out, and they had great customer service. They were very knowledgeable and were super friendly. They went through everything. They took time to let us know what was going on and how it happened, so that was very helpful and useful. A lot of the issues were apparently predated from whoever lived in the house before. There was a lot of hair build-up in the bathroom that we don’t ever use. So when we finally used it that was why they were going slow.

    And the way the home was built with the shower knobs, they just weren’t the best knobs, so they were easily broken. They said there was nothing that we could have done about it. It’s just the ones that the builders chose to use. And so they fixed that right away. AHS was phenomenal. I would absolutely use them all over again. Everything was handled very quickly. I called Home Shield and they had somebody out within 24 to 48 hours. So I am absolutely very satisfied.

    I’m not with American Home Shield anymore and I wasn’t happy with my experience. My contract was stopped at the end of October and I didn’t renew it because of the issues I have with them resolving the claim. They were not responding. We sent out four calls, and two different vendors came out for the washer. For the dishwasher, three different vendors were sent out before it was supposedly fixed, which in my idea, it definitely was not.

    For the dryer, they sent someone out twice and they changed only a filter, but the dryer still heats up and shuts off. They said it was because the filter was old and it had holes in it, but that had nothing to do with anything clearly. But they were saying that because it dries, it works. American Home Shield kept saying someone was coming out. I called two or three times and supposedly a vendor was gonna call me, but they never called me back. And then, after the contract ended, American Home Shield never followed up with it. They never sent anyone out to come back and look at my dryer.

    It used to be that the wait to get someone to talk to when submitting claims to AHS was lengthy and difficult. It wasn't too fun to explain my situation either. One time, I was having a problem with my kitchen sink and things were coming up in my second sink. AHS' reps kept saying that I need someone for my disposal. I told them that I didn't know if the issue was my disposal. It may have been the piping.

    It took three different people coming out to realize that it wasn't the disposal. I bought a new disposal just so I could say that wasn't the problem. The last contractor who came to fix my issue was Shorty and they were excellent. The tech came on time, did what he needed to do and did an excellent job.

    Though submitting claims to American Home Shield has been better, the last contractor they assigned for electrical, Kelly Brothers, didn't show. He was supposed to do our ice maker and he didn't come. Also, there should be a place to add a suggestion on their website 'cause that's a way of giving AHS a heads up to let them know what their contractors are doing or not doing. The last person I talked to when I was having the no-show issue said it would be a good idea. I told her that none of the contractors were coming out for the right reason. She asked why I didn't call them back and I responded saying that I wrote that on their website. She said that they don't get that. She allowed me to not be charged at the last try since I had three contractors come out already and no one was coming out for the right reason.

    The furnace wouldn't shut off one evening. It wasn't putting warm or cold air, but the blower was running. I was afraid it was gonna cause my bill to rise, but Cold Snap Air Conditioning was sent out to us to do the service the next day that it happened. They got out really quickly and it couldn't have been quicker. It was the day before Thanksgiving too and we had a house full of company.     As far as customer service, Home Shield has been good. The first claim that we did was we had our locks changed. When you’re buying a house, they recommend you change the locks and part of their policy is providing that service for that $75 fee. Then my second claim was with At Bay Appliances and that was all fairly seamless. It took a few days to get somebody out but they got somebody out in a timely fashion and the technician was able to solve the problem pretty straightforwardly and without any problems. Plus we live in Oakland, California area so sometimes, it’s a little hard to get on somebody’s schedule. I wouldn’t blame that on Home Shield. We're just living in a busy area that probably didn’t have enough tradespeople.

    My sister AHS in her house, and she said it was good. And I got them now for six years. It was really quick to submit a claim, and they work really fast. I prefer to call over the phone, because I feel like there’s no mistake, or they’re more professional. So they know how to do it. I could explain it to them. The claims reps have always been very nice to me. I actually have two American Home Shield. I have one for my business, and one for my home. Some of the contractors are not that good. I tell the American Home Shield customer service, "My experience was not so good there. So do you mind not sending them to me anymore?” Or if I really like somebody that is so efficient, do their work, fast and on-time, then I’ll be like, “Oh! The representative gave me the name of the company who was coming out and the telephone number. When it was not available right away, I called back and they gave me somebody who was available right away and that was the Five Star Comfort. The service was very good.     A plumbing company recently replaced the water heater. I called it in and American Home Shield sent someone out in two days. The tech was fantastic and did the work in 45 minutes. However, it seems like there's always more money that we’re paying out. I ended up paying over $400 to get it replaced, and I didn’t go get a brand-new hot water tank out of the store for $500. AHS said absolutely nothing. I paid the $100 deductible and that was it. I shouldn’t have to pay anything else out-of-pocket. We'll probably end up cancelling it.

    So I ended up having to report AHS to the BBB! We have a water heater that is leaking through the ceiling (located in the attic, which is how it's done in GA apparently) and into electrical outlets and lights and they said it isn't a hazard or an emergency to justify getting on of their contractors out same day or within 24 hours! Also, we have to use their contractors 'cause they are licensed, yet they aren't and are on the verge of being shut down! WTF? Asked if we find one that is licensed and that can provide emergency services will they reimburse us.... The answer was "NO" and they can get one out on a week or two! Now we have no water (had to be shut off to stop the leaking) with kids in the home! If I could give NEGATIVE STARS I would! They are also getting reported to the military and we will see what we can do to get them blacklisted!!!!

    AHS replaced my oven and the new one got delivered but the tech has not yet installed it. He came and saw that there is a problem in the connection because it’s a gas oven, but my gas is not a regular gas. It is propane, so it’s a very old system and the technician said that he doesn’t have the insurance to do that. AHS should assign another contractor to come over. Besides that, all my other issues were resolved very well and very smoothly.

    We changed from another company to AHS because our previous company had gone up in price. We have been with AHS for a couple of months now and based on our experience so far, their staff are not as knowledgeable as they should be.

    It took Beaches Air Conditioning & Heating five trips and different people were coming in and out. One day, they said that they came and nobody was home, but my husband and I were sitting here waiting. They said that somebody came to the door and said that we were out of town, but that was a lie. When we called about it, they said they were sorry and they'd get to us at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We told them that we've been here for over a week without service but they said they had other people already ahead of us that were scheduled, so there was nothing they could do.     We had a couple of leaks with our plumbing and C Mayes Plumbing & Heating came to address them. None were resolved the first time. AHS didn't cover whole house filters. And so, that part couldn't be resolved, which was unfortunate and disappointing. They also declined to work because they couldn't replicate the leak. The third item was a very slow leak and I totally understood that. But then that night, its leak started, so I put in another claim and they came back and then they fixed it. So it took two times for the contractor to come out, but they took care of it. The technicians were knowledgeable, informative, professional and kind of a handyman do-it-yourself or two. They also cleaned up. But I'd be happier if AHS broadens their contract.

    In the first week I was here at my place, I started having plumbing problems. And every time I've called, American Home Shield's phones were down and it'd go into a voicemail that said to try back later, which was a bummer. I'd then leave a message, but don't hear anything, so I'd call back. I had to have somebody come out a couple of times for the same issue and resolve it. But I think it's an underlying problem. There's a problem with the plumbing, which was why these particular toilets keep plugging up and gurgling at my sink.

    When the particular toilet was clogged, the contractor came out twice and said that there was something in there and if there was, it would be $189. AHS didn't cover it. I said that it was fine, I had to have a toilet. He went in and got it out. It was a popsicle stick, probably from one of my grandchildren. I then paid him and he left. About two weeks later, I got a letter in the mail that said that they didn't cover things that are this and that. It was really weird. I called the contractor and asked what was the letter for. He said that it was for if they find foreign objects, like when they found the popsicle stick. He apologized that they didn't call to let me know that the letter was coming, but they had to send the letter out in my state.

    The air conditioner seemed to be very noisy and struggling when it was trying to heat the home. We filed two claims online at American Home Shield and it was effortless. We asked Air Doctor AC and Heating to come out, and I was impressed with how fast they got out here. The tech came out, assessed it, ordered a part, came back a couple days later once it got approved and did the work. They were very transparent with us. The part didn't work, and so, we had them come back and they did some additional work. Now it seems to be functioning properly.

    Calling in is a pain because sometimes it gets disconnected. I did not know that I can do it online. One time I had a kitchen backup, so I could not wait two or three days to get a guy in. So, I paid $450 for a guy to come in and get it done. I called in at American Home Shield as soon as I got the guy to say there was no need to send any technician, but it wasn't recorded. They told me I was late and so the technician was already on his way, but I reported much earlier. There was nobody to report that online. They charged me $100, but it was no big deal.

    My recent claim was a nice experience. We made the complaint online and mentioned it was an issue with the heater, and I got a text early in the morning from Tom, asking whether I was okay with 11 o’clock. One of his team members visited me and he looked into it. The blower was off, so he needed to order one. Tom ordered the blower, and the next day he came back and fixed it. It was pretty straightforward in the sense that they knew what the issue was, and they were able to get the part in time. More than anything, they took it as a proactive effort.

    The first time I turned my oven on, it immediately started smelling like natural gas. So, I turned it off and called the utility company. They came out and tested it with their meter, and it had red-lined their meter. It was higher than what their meter went for gas, and the guy said it was creating carbon monoxide. So, he turned the gas off to the appliance, and then I called American Home Shield late Friday night. They sent out a repair person from Maughanster Appliance Repair the following Monday morning and he got it fixed. Since the repair, everything has been fine.     The garage door wasn't going up and down. I called AHS and the contractor was able to make the appointment. He was a nice guy. He came out as scheduled and did the repair. But it needed something done that was not covered by the insurance plan. Had he told me the first time he was out that it was gonna go so quickly again, I would have had the extra work done the first time. They are costing me two service calls which I'm not happy about. Everything's working fine now. However, the service fees keep going up and the annual fee keeps going up, and I have very few claims, so I wish that wouldn't happen.

    My claim with American Home Shield about a refrigerator went great. They sent out Robson Appliances and they were efficient, on time and rectified the problem. They came and they worked on the refrigerator where the doors were not closing due to the steel around the door and the latch was broken. Now, they close. The technician that came out was terrific. He needed to order a part, and then he came back. He came back rapidly every call. Everything is working great since the repair.

    I had a bad experience from a company that came out before on the air conditioner. We did let AHS know about it and we had to have somebody else come back out on the air conditioner again this past summer. We said "Whoever came out before, we don't want them back in our home." The AC is better, but issue was not totally rectified. It wasn't AHS's fault. but the air conditioning company that came out this last time. They said that they've done everything that they could. But somewhere along the line in the house, maybe the Freon is leaking and therefore, it's not getting as cold as it should.

    We recently had the clothes dryer fixed. My husband had to submit a claim on the computer and then they called back and told us when the contractor would be here. When the contractor came, they took the top off of the dryer, and the tech said the issue was bearings. He was very nice and we were pleased with him. The dryer is working fine since then.     I was having a leak from the ceiling in my basement bathroom. When the plumber came, he looked at the refrigerator but he didn't even move it. He just flashed his light back there. He said he didn't think it was from there. He went at my cabinet to where it's connected through and he looked at the dishwasher. He looked at the sink in the kitchen, the toilet and the sink on the main floor. He didn't go upstairs to the other restroom. He then said he needed access to the wall to do further diagnostics. But when he wrote it to American Home Shield, they said it's either the wall or the floor. He doesn't even know if he needs to go in that wall for sure to fix the issue. He's just assuming he has to go there to finish his diagnostics but he may have to go somewhere else.

    Now, I have to get someone to open up the wall or the floor. I have to get them there at the same time to make sure the person cuts in the place that the plumber needs, which is ridiculous when American Home Shield should just have a company that does both. And what I'm upset about is that American Home Shield doesn't cover all that. It's taking forever and if I get mold, they don't cover cleaning up the mold too. I wish something could have been done sooner, faster and with a company that could do everything.

    There was a time when I could not get our garage door open. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and found their site easy to use. They assign a contractor and I was told to expect them to call within 24 hours. Professional Door Fixers came out and diagnosed my problem. The tech knew almost immediately what the problem was and it as a matter of waiting for the okay from AHS to order the part. They came out again right away and the door has been working fine since they last came out.

    With AHS, I have not always had success with their 800 number. Once before, I had water spewing everywhere with pipes and they didn't get the emergency. It hasn't always been a great experience with them. Sometimes, the people they send out are not wonderful. But lately, it's been better. It has been great the last two years.     I’m pleased with American Home Shield. I started having a water issue problem, and we were not able to resolve that. The only thing the contractor told me that I could do is I could turn up the heat on it where it’s a little higher because they were not able to do that themselves. I told them they could do it, but since there were certain rules they had to stick to, I did it myself later. When my daughter couldn't take a hot bath, I started calling on friday evening and American Home Shield could not get anybody to want to respond over the weekend.

    I called three times, and on the third time, I talked to a representative who was really good. She kept calling around to make sure she got the right person who could work on all the claims I was requesting and when she called me back, she let me know that she got Immediate Response, a 24/7 company. Unfortunately, they're not able to come out till monday, but I appreciate that she took the extra time to try to find me the right company.

    I told Immediate Response that I’m not getting enough hot water from my heater. The plumber went up there, checked the tub and told me that he did a reading that said I'm getting enough gallons. I asked if all the elements worked. He said yes and that they couldn't do anything with it since I was getting enough hot water. It’s a 50-gallon tank and the plumber said that I get 40 gallons which is more than most people get. We left it at that then I told him about my kitchen faucet that needed some repair on the handle. Sometimes it leaks a little bit when I pull it out and squeeze the little trigger. He looked on there and said the whole thing would have to be repaired. He said he didn't see a name brand and he'd have to get authorization to repair it, so he took a picture and sent it in.

    At that point, we haven't fixed anything yet. I told him about my Whirlpool bath that hasn’t worked. I’ve been trying to youtube it and the issue looked like it was the air valve. He looked at it, said that the air valve came undone and put it back in. Overall, Immediate Response did well. They're very polite and the tub’s working for me. They cut a little hole in the back of the garage in the sheetrock, and someone came back out and patched it. I've had American Home Shield for five years and it’s worth the investment that you put into it. There's a lot of years I don’t use it, but then when I need to use it, I always have peace of mind.

    American Home Shield sent Rapp’s Heating & AC out. I wanted to have the yearly inspection done, and so they did that. And then, I have two bathrooms, and each toilet and each showerhead had a problem, and so they fixed all those. It took three times coming out to get it all done, but they fixed both. In one bathroom, I had a showerhead that needed to be changed out. So, they did that for me. And that bathroom also had a problem with the toilet not filling back up. They got that fixed. And then, on the other toilet, the water was running constantly, sometimes slowly, sometimes, not so slow, and they put a new flat vent and they replaced something else on it that was old. On the shower in that bathroom, the showerhead wasn’t working well. So, they brought me a new one.

    The process of making a claim to American Home Shield is not a problem, but I did have a little bit of a problem with Rapp’s because the first time, they were supposed to come out and do the furnace inspection. They had a problem in the family and couldn’t make it, and that was okay. But the next time they were supposed to come out, I never heard from them and they never showed up. It was the third time that they came out.

    American Home Shield offered me a time, and I took the latest time, which was according to them was from 2:00 to 6:00, but Rapp’s said they didn’t do appointments from 2:00 to 6:00. It would have to be 12:00 to 4:00. But I didn’t know this before I was home in time. We weren’t there because we thought it was 2:00 to 6:00. So, we missed it once because we thought we didn’t have to be home until 2:00. My experience wasn’t perfect, but it was good.

    I've been covered with AHS for six years now. They have gotten better answering their calls and doing stuff online. When we first had them, it was not good. You can do all your service calls online now if something is broken, and not have to call in. I'm having an issue with one contractor right now that is not calling me back. It is my first time to experience this. He ordered the part four weeks ago and it hasn't been here yet and he hasn't called.     We had someone come out on the 4th of December, and he checked out our microwave and saw what he needed to do. He said they’d get in touch with us or that he’d get the part in five days.     The refrigerator was making a noise and the ice maker wasn't working anymore as well as the door. It started a couple of months back and it just got worse. I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield, and they responded instantly. The contractor came out in two days. They called me because we weren't here when they showed up and I had to let him into the room where the refrigerator was. We got here on time and it worked out. They didn't have to leave. First, they looked at it and then, they had to get parts. It usually takes two times every time with AHS. Everything is good now and I understand that they had to get parts but it could have been quicker. Also, AHS should be more competitive on the deductible and pay for some of the things that they don't cover that other ones do.

    As a female, you're usually taken advantage of with different things when it comes to repairs. So, I decided to go to an agency. I had another provider and what they were offering was not enough coverage. The time that you put in the claim and you saw someone to do the repairs was long. I looked at the TV commercial about American Home Shield and told myself to see about it. AHS has been an excellent company. For the air conditioner issue, the contractor put a fuse in. It's in a rental piece of property and the tenant has no complaints. I submit a claim by phone and I always go to a person. I don't like automated systems where you ask them questions and don't get a straight answer for. The claims representatives have been good. They've been better than some of the companies that they sent to do the repair.

    AHS needs to check on the companies that they hire to do jobs. They need to start evaluating them a little bit more. I have not had a bad relationship with anyone that they all have ever sent. It's more the appointment time that I have issues with sometimes. When I had to get something replaced, I had to call different numbers to get attention. The contractors take care of their personal customers before they take care of Home Shield customers. I found that when I called to set up an appointment. AHS sets the appointments, but they also give you the phone number to the agency that's gonna come out to do the work, and that's what I like about them.

    My garbage disposal wasn't working and we called American Home Shield. The plumber from the first company didn't show up on the time that they told us he was coming. He came out late in the evening, which was almost 8:00, and he was all scrubby and dirty looking. He got mud on my floor when he came in. When he got under the sink, I asked him if he wanted a flashlight. I also asked if he wanna look under there and if he needed us to turn off the power. He said he could see and that he could do it. Then, the guy wanted to take it off and the thing just started smoking.

    I called my husband because the guy didn’t know what he was doing. My husband said that he could go downstairs and turn off the power but he said that he knew what he was doing and he had done it before. So, my husband went down and turned off the power then the guy came in to work on it. He took it loose and I asked him if he needed a light. He acted like he had an attitude. The next thing I know, I told him that if he didn’t wanna be here doing the work, then he shouldn't be here. The thing needed to be replaced. He took it off, started walking out the door and left. He left the garbage disposal unconnected and the wire lying there. I called my husband and told him that the man just left and left this stuff here.

    My husband told the guy he couldn’t leave the garbage disposal. We got a hole in our sink. We gotta do things and he was just leaving the thing lying under the sink. He asked the guy to put it back on until we could get somebody else out here to do it. So, he came in and put it back on, but he left the water disconnected. I called AHS as soon as he left and told them that the man who came in here didn't wanna fix the garbage disposal. AHS did not send anyone else out.

    I didn't hear anything the next day until I looked at my account and they had taken out the $75 fee. I called AHS and told them that the guy didn't do anything. My husband had to get on the phone and talk to the lady because I got upset and I was kinda screaming that they need to get someone else out here to fix my garbage disposal and that they're not gonna charge me an extra $75. He talked to the lady and she said they were gonna investigate it and look into it. They said that the guy said there was nothing wrong with the disposal. I asked why my disposal was not working and why it was disconnected if there was nothing wrong with it.

    AHS must've contacted the contractor and told them that the guy had lied. The gal said she was gonna email the original company that came out. So, I guess they must've got in contact with someone over there because they texted me asking if they could come back out and send a senior plumber. I told them no. I didn't want them at my house anymore because I felt the guy would lie again. AHS sent another company and I told them not to charge me additional $75 because my disposal does not work. They said that they gotta see what the other guy would say and if he says there’s something wrong with it, then I am not responsible for the extra $75. So, when the guy came, he told AHS the thing doesn't work and AHS replaced it.

    I've had AHS for a very long time and this is the second time I had a flimsy company come out and do shady work, where I have to call AHS back and have someone come to fix it again. I don't know who they have working for them and if these people are licensed because the guy from the original company that came wasn't even in a professional van. He looked like he was off the street. Then the other company that came, the guy was professional and he was in a plumbing company. It had a plumbing sign on it and he wasn't nasty.

    The companies that AHS vets for their contract should be professional and know what they're doing because I pay AHS $62 a month. I've been with them over 10 years. I've had my house 31 years and I had a break in there maybe for a few months and started back again, but I have had that warranty over 20 years. I'm happy with AHS but this is the first time I had a problem where the guy lied. I'm not happy with it but I'm not gonna stop paying them or discontinue it. I'm gonna see what happens if anything else breaks.

    We had a guy come out maybe a couple of years ago to work on our furnace. The first company was sloppy and then, when we called AHS back and told them there was a problem, they sent somebody right out. This is the only time they did not send someone out right away after I told them the contractor didn't fix it. This is the first year they ever did that to me. AHS needs to follow up, especially if I call and tell them that this guy did not fix this thing instead of just taking my money and taking the plumber's word for it.

    We got AHS where we live and we got a couple of rental properties they got covered, too. And they're getting better. In the past we’ve had some hot water heater problems, where it took a little minute to get it taken care of. But this time the response was great. Our freezer stopped freezing and making ice so my wife submitted a claim online. They did excellent in that category. We usually get a call from whoever they recommend not too long after she enters the claim online. The tech from The Fridge Guy was good, and he came out on a Sunday.     AT Appliances showed up on time when I had a claim for my dishwasher. The gentleman is knowledgeable, and the issue turned out to be a switch behind the dishwasher. He did his job and he was able to fix the issue. The warranty is definitely worth the $75 that I spend, plus the monthly fee, with the cost of replacing and repairing something. It’s reasonable. I have had a dryer replaced at one time. The warranty has paid back itself. But the fee should be much less or in a sliding scale. If it was a big project, then I could understand the $75, but if it was something as simple as turning a switch, I wouldn’t pay $75 for that.

    Way back, I pay AHS my annual fee then I would have a service fee. That service fee used to be $25 and now it's $75. Also, AHS doesn't cover garage door springs anymore. More recently, I had a water regulator repaired and I'm gonna have to pay $250 'cause the tech is gonna have to do something to my fitting. Still, service by Intercity Plumbing, the contractor sent by AHS to service my claim, was good. A guy came out and did the pressure valve. They're a small shop and they keep me informed when they are coming out. Overall, AHS has been pretty good. At my rental property, there were a couple of things that got repaired and taken care of.

    I call if I submit claims and everybody’s done a great job so far. Then in a couple of days, usually, the contractor comes. The contractors are always super great. K&S Plumbing services came several times to take care of some plumbing. They installed the garbage disposer. Everything else they fixed is working fine. They worked on leaky faucets, two running toilets, but we still haven’t gotten one of the toilets right. It’s still running. It has phantom flushes so they’re supposed to come back to fix that.

    We had a plumbing issue and Nussbaumer Plumbing came out. It was the old pipes and they thought that there was just general buildup that hadn’t been cleaned because we bought an estate from someone that unfortunately passed. They cleared out the pipes and it only took plain routine cleaning. The time frame that was given to me was earlier than what they actually came, but they at least updated me and told me when they were coming and told me why they were late. So, at least the communication was good. This is the second time I’ve used AHS since having my warranty and they’ve always been very pleasant and always very helpful.     One day, I just lost all power to my garage. My garage door wasn’t working and my deep freeze that I have plugged in in my garage wasn’t working anymore. Fortunately, we noticed it and was able to plug the deep freeze in before we lost hundreds of dollars of food that’s in it. Lighthouse Electric was able to come out and the electrician that came out to service it got it working. But I kept having an issue with it tripping. He told me it was the breaker that was tripping. I let it go over the weekend because there would be times where it would stay all day, one day, and then the next day, it was just in and out. It would just stay on and then a couple of hours later, it’d just trip out.

    So, we had had him come back out. When he came out the second time, he went back through everything, and he noticed that the breaker that ran the electricity for the garage was on a 220-amp breaker, which only needs to be on a 120-amp breaker, not a 220. When I talked to him, he said, “I don’t even know how I missed it the first time.” He said, “But I swapped the breakers out,” and I haven’t had a problem with it since. He said he ran the garage door six or seven times by himself, it never tripped out, and he got everything set back up how it should be set up. So, everything is all hunky-dory now.

    The electrician came out on a timely manner. He didn’t talk to me directly because of my work hours and I'm not always available at my phone. So, he talked to my wife and he let us know when he was coming out. That was the one thing I really emphasized on when it comes to contractors and people coming out to my house, that I like to really know when they're gonna be there. I was very pleased with the fact that he was able to give notice of when he was coming so we could make sure that everything was ready or out of his way for where he would need to be.

    This April, I bought a house with a warranty of American Home Shield Warranty. This November I had water leaking issue in the bathtub of the master bedroom and this is not just water-dropping but it continued to damage on the roof of the garage so we locked the main valves then contacted AHS. Their sales represent allowed me to call the local technician to prevent future damage so it was fixed then we presented the invoice to AHS.

    A few days later, we got the mail from AHS that they couldn't any reimburse due to not being fixed by the technician in their network. Unfortunately, the same issues happened this Dec-2-2019 so I directly claimed to AHS and arrange the schedule. AHS scheduled the repair next Monday (12-9) which means we had to survive without water to the next week since AHS said that's the earliest day they can so I ask for help to re-scheduling taking 1 hour talking with the representative. Finally, they sent a technician the same day but he's not doing anything because he didn't have parts so we'll still not using waters for 5 days.

    They never contact me giving service schedule so now I keep dialing. Almost feel Homeless. Oh, I forgot to tell you one more thing. Their website showing me that this case has been completed... Are you kidding me???? This is not the service, this is the scam itself. Do not buy this warranty because you will get trouble the same now I undergoing.

    The heat would not turn on. The compressor outside would try to click on and would immediately shut off. The heat would come on for about maybe a minute and then it would stop.     When I put a request in to repair the garage door, the rep I talked to on the phone said that it was covered. I explained everything in detail, that it was the garage door that was broken, not the garage door opener. But when the garage door people called me and found out that it was not the opener, which I had already explained to the warranty rep, they said that it was not covered. It was a pain because if the rep had just told me it was not covered right from the beginning, then I wouldn’t have gone through all that. I was in a hurry to get that door fixed too. However, when the light fixture stopped working, the tech quickly solved the problem. On the first visit, he determined that it was a fixture problem. And on the second visit, he brought the parts and fixed it.

    When Paul's Appliance Service came out for my range, they were not able to repair it. It's really an old range, which needed a thermostat and some kind of a pocket for the light because the light didn't stay lit. They called back and said they couldn't get the part. Apparently, it was not easy to get the part. I talked to American Home Shield yesterday and they ordered me a new stove. It's an Amana so it'll be fine. Within about 10 days, I could hear from the guy who's gonna come and install it and we'll go from there. It worked well and we were happy.

    I had American Home Shield 25 years ago on another house so I knew they were good, which was also why I took them out. We bought a preowned home and the sellers said that they'd pay for AHS policy for the first year. We had no idea what it was, but in the first year, both heat exchangers and both air conditioning units had to be replaced. AHS took care of everything except for the disposal fees, which was not much.

    The washer was fixed. The company came right on time and right away. It was a good service. I think it was something wrong with the water filter. But in submitting that claim, it took us, like, 10 months to talk to the representatives. We were doing it online and we never got an answer until my wife called, and she was waiting for 25 minutes to get answers. So, it took us a long time to fix that. The problem was that every time we went and try to do it online, AHS said that we didn't have any membership with them when we were with them for I think three years already. I was trying a different company too with other houses and it was the same problem.

    I had a contract with American Home Shield early 2003, and then I discontinued it for a while. I had an experience with another home warranty company and it wasn't good, so I went back. This time, I've been an AHS customer for a year. When my furnace has stopped running, it had a loose wire, I submitted a claim online. It was easy to find what I needed in their website. I submitted it early in the morning, but I spoke with the tech's office and I knew that he was busy that day, so it was about 5:30 in the evening when he came out. He was very good. He fixed it for us that evening, but it quit running again. He then told me it was probably a temporary fix, and he needed to get some parts and authorization for the repair. And so, he handled it very quickly.

    We did have to wait several days for some repair parts to come, but the tech was just so accommodating. He always called me to let me know what the situation was as far as where the parts were at and how long we have to wait. He was always there when he said he'd be there. I was extremely pleased with his service. The furnace is working wonderfully now.

    When I bought the house, American Home Shield came with it and all I got was a phone number and account number so I don’t know what was covered. If I had known that a call for my dishwasher, which was an appliance, would have also covered my stove, which was also an appliance, I would have put it in. Now I’m gonna have to spend another $75 because I can’t get one of the burners to light. I didn’t know those things. I’ve gotten lots of emails, but I haven’t gotten anything that has given me some information about what the program was all about. I’m not happy about that part and I would have appreciated a mailed copy to my home address.

    Everything went perfectly for my dishwasher claim though. The latched hadn’t latched appropriately, so it leaked all over the kitchen floor. I was able to get someone out here within a couple of days. The contractor was on-time, clean, personable, fun, and knew what he was doing. He fixed the latch that was the problem.     We have a smart thermostat, and it kept telling us that our auxiliary heat was running for too long. So, we looked into it and it turned out that our normal heat had burned out. By the time the regular heat system was shipped out and ready to be replaced, the auxiliary heat had also burned out from running too long. So, everything needed to be replaced in the end. I did the claim online and the contractor was super helpful. If I had to do something that couldn't go through my home warranty again, I would definitely work with them again. We had to have an entirely new HVAC unit outside and a new heat pump inside, and they had to come out a second time because the part had to be shipped out. It took a little over a week from when the claim was filed to when everything was back on. It would have been great if it was done day one or any faster, but given all of the circumstances, I wasn't upset about the timeframe.

    When my disposal was not working, the contractors did a good job. They came out and had the part, and fixed it that day. I also had a furnace issue. The contractor came out and had to get the part. It was a couple of days later before the part came in and they installed it. When I had an issue with a dishwasher, I don’t think the guy really looked at it. I showed him where it was leaking, and he said that it was not leaking. Later that night, we turned it on and it was leaking again. I took more pictures and when he came back out, he said it was leaking. Other than that, the service has been good and submitting claims online has been easy.

    I was a little irritated at one of AHS' rulings on one of my claims, for the toilet tank. I’ve lived in the house for six years, and the toilet tank all of a sudden started leaking. My plumber wrote it up as, “The toilet bowl’s cracked,” and he gave a reason, “probably over tightened at installation". So, American Home Shield ruled that that was not normal wear and tear. For me, it was wear and tear because, regardless, it didn’t start leaking for six years. They didn’t approve it. I didn’t have time to deal with it so I went and bought a new toilet. Other than that, I’m pretty pleased with American Home Shield. I’ve had them for over 20 plus years in most of my homes. I’ve had Prime out for two different calls, for the toilet and for the faucet, and they were all good.

    My first experience with American Home Shield wasn't great. I've had three different technicians come out for one issue. The first said that he fixed the blown fuse and that we would get heat, but we didn't. The second guy said that the Georgia Power Credit Program was not sending a signal to the furnace. The last issue, which we’re experiencing right now, is with the zone panel. It is still not solved and we don't have heat. It was out on order today, so hopefully, it’ll be here Friday. The first contracor was okay. He explained things to me. But because I don’t know much about these things, I feel like they were not all the right answers after speaking with more people that are familiar with the job.     I did the claim online because calling sometimes takes a lot longer. When you get older, you're not that savvy with tech stuff, but it was easy for me to file the claim. There was a leak in the toilet and in the faucets that come up from the floor with the water supply, so it was running day and night. It was a fairly new Kohler toilet, and the insides are different than they used to be. It wasn't leaking where the tech thought it was going to, and he had to get a different part.     I had three different claims. It was for my washing machine, my range and my cooktop. I called because I couldn't get the claims online with multiple appliances. The first contractor did not even touch the oven and knew exactly what my oven was. He was very intimidated by it and didn't tell me anything. He said he would have somebody else come out. Finally after I questioned him, which took another two weeks, he did order parts for the washing machine, but he didn't even know the serial number so he had to keep calling me back to get information or pictures of my machine.     The water heater in my mom's house stopped working. My daughter called Home Shield to submit a claim then she had to go online, so she had to do it twice. Then a guy from Universal Plumbing came out and they brought the water heater out. He fixed it, she paid him, and then he left. I pay the AHS bill for my mom's home and we've had AHS on it since about 3 months ago. I already had a warranty provider and we had trouble with this other one because they came up with some crock-and-bull and they got rid off all of us down here in Kentucky 'cause we live in a little country town. So I had to find another company.

    With Home Shield, I don't have any problem. I even save money with them 'cause my washer and dryer both went out at the same time. It had been about two weeks and I told them, "Let's not file a claim. What we're gonna do is go buy some new washer and dryer and then work from there." So we got new washer and dryer for the house. But I guess they went out of town and they came back and everybody was trying to take a shower all at the same time of these 2 bathrooms so the water heater went out on there. So, I'm all right with AHS.

    We were having issues with the pilot light on the furnace. We would light it and it would stay lit for maybe a couple of hours. But then, when the furnace would kick on, it would blow it out and we wouldn't have any heat. I went over the phone to submit a claim, which worked out. I was able to go ahead and explain what was going on and what I needed them to come out and take a look at. We had it fixed within a day and a half of putting the claim in. Foxcroft came out and they diagnosed it right away. The tech had the furnace up and running within 45 minutes and we haven't had any issues since. This is our second claim and AHS has done really well getting it all taken care of.

    Since September, we've been with American Home Shield and I'm grateful for it. This is our first home and it's been a nightmare. We found out this morning that the kitchen sink was leaking. When making a claim, anything that I can do quickly online is fine by me. We had a heating issue and AHS sent out United Air Temp. My mom and husband were home first because I was working late. They let the technician in and he checked everything. Once he did the tests for the leak, he found out the outside was leaking. He could fix the coil on the inside piece but it would need to have Freon pumped in once both were fixed. That was gonna be more than we were ready to spend. And because of the age of the inside unit and the two-year-old outside unit not being sufficiently capable, the tech said that if it was leaking after two years, then it was basically a sub-par piece of equipment that the previous owners put in just to sell the house.

    Based on that, my husband decided we might as well just replace the whole thing. We’re gonna end up replacing both the outside and the inside unit. Other than that, everything went fine. I’ve heard horror stories of other warranty companies. With American Home Shield, even though we have to replace the air conditioner and there’s nothing they can help with, it was at least nice to know that I can call somebody out and at least cover something.

    I called AHS because the water was leaking underneath the sink in the bathroom. They said they'd send somebody out. The contractors called on a Saturday, and it was Tuesday they said they'd be there. So, I had to quit using the sink in the bathroom which wasn't too big of an inconvenience. I had two different instances with the customer service of AHS and they've been very helpful both times.

    The first time, a claim for the over-the-range microwave, they wanted somebody to fix it instead of replacing it. They sent out one guy. He said he couldn't read the serial number on it so, he couldn't fix it. So, they sent another guy out. The other guy found out the serial number. He was a more experienced than the other guy was. And the other guy was from Sears. This guy seemed to know what he was doing. He had it all taken apart and had all the electrical wiring and stuff out. It was something in there. He said that was way too much to try to fix it, and so he was just having it replaced.

    When my initial call for a plumbing problem was placed, it seemed ages before a plumber could be allocated to look at the problem. And because it was before Thanksgiving, I was allocated someone for Tuesday. I tried to accelerate it for someone to come around on Saturday, which they did. But I found it very difficult to get information from the representatives when I called the phone number. I've also had a few problems with the first couple of claims I've had to file. Some of the vendors that are hired by AHS are not good and some of them are. It's a hit or miss. The first one was garbage. It was a rekey and he installed my doorknobs loosely, and now I have to pay to get them fixed. The second guy was an electrician and he did a great job.     I couldn't open the garage from the outside or the inside. It messed up. And so, American Home Shield sent a company out and they had to replace the panel in the motor of the overhead garage track. The contractor was inside when he pushed the button for it to go up and go down, and it worked fine. But then when I got out on the street like I was coming in, it wouldn’t open. I called them back out and they came and they said, “It’s electrical interference. You need to get a different bulb,” which I did.

They also gave me a confirmation of when they were gonna go ahead and told me the technician was coming out. So, they were on it every step of the way.

    It was supposed to be just a routine check-up when Total Air Care first came through. While they were doing that, which was good, they found the problem. They identified it and told me about it. Something was freezing up so they continued with the service and then, they had to put in a new service request. They stayed with me until I made the claim and then, they came back out and fixed it. They were professional and knew what they were doing. The service was good and it didn’t take long. Every time I needed something, AHS checks them out and if there was something else that goes with it, they would explain everything to me prior to it.

    I call to file my claims and the customer service is good, except that if I can't understand their English and I ask to talk to someone else or a supervisor, they will not do it, and that disturbs me. If I can't get my point across, it's hard to talk to somebody if they're talking and they won't listen to me. So, I should be connected to a supervisor if I ask to talk to a supervisor. Also, I already recommended them, but I won't again for a while 'cause one of my friends did not get the kind of service that she should have received.

    The refrigerator wasn’t cooling and we couldn't fire it up. It had to thaw itself out. I called at 7 o’clock in the morning and had Fidelity Appliance Services that day to take care of the problem. The guy said to wait 24 hours. I waited and found that where it had frozen over the coils, there was some water under the refrigerator. He explained exactly what was gonna happen and it did. In 24 hours, I fired it up and it has been working fine.

    He also took care of the dryer. I went to use the dryer the next day and it didn't heat up so I called. The lady told me that I went through the manager or the owner of Fidelity and he said that I needed to get the vents cleaned out. There was a hole that went from the dryer to the wall where the vent was. I pulled the dryer out and disconnected it from the wall. I shook the shiny piece of aluminum and lint came out. I shook it some more and lint filled up a plastic grocery shopping bag. Nobody ever told me it needed to be done before. Then, I plugged the dryer into the wall and turned it on, and it heated up immediately.

    It could have started a fire. A big clog that was blocking the flow of the air and it had worn out the pressure thing. The guy showed me when he replaced it. I called the lady back and said that it was a good thing of her telling me this. I asked if she could pass it on to another customer because from now on, I would have somebody come out and do my vents.

    When AHS had to replace the garage door opener, that was expeditious. Also, when something went wrong with my air conditioner outside, a guy came out right away and fixed it. He was honest with me saying that he didn't know if it would hold up as we still got more summer to go. He said to give him a call if something happens. It wasn’t two hours after he was gone and sure enough, it happened. He came out and replaced the motor and I haven’t had any issues since. As far as the protection of American Home Shield goes, I feel very comfortable. I don't stress over this. I am a home health nurse so I am out in the public. I run into patients and tell them to get American Home Shield ‘cause most of the time, when buying a house, they can get one year of home service. After that, they either renew it or shop around and so I recommend American Home Shield.

    The handyman was at my house. He owns a bunch of properties. That’s what he does for a living. And then he told me about American Home Shield, and I thought it was incredible. He has 10 or 11 properties and he said it works great. They’re there when you need them. So I thought, “Yeah, why not? “ The first time which was for the air conditioner, I did it over the phone. But I had to cancel that one because it wasn’t needed after we figured it out. We just cleaned everything up, and everything was okay. The AC has been good since then. And then, I did this one online and the contractor called within a few hours. They were gonna come within two days. I pushed it back a little bit more. It was a weekend. But with the plumbing one, Stallion came right on out, were out within a couple of days, and made the repair. The people that did the plumbing did a great job and they had the parts readily available. They replaced the cartridge. When you consider how slow American Home Shield is and their contractors, I was extremely pleased for how quickly they came out and made the repair.     My trash disposal wouldn't come on and it started to smoke, so we unplugged it. And then, the spigot would only turn partway, it wouldn't turn all the way. So, a plumber came out, somebody was with him, and checked a couple of things. He has this little tool. He said something was caught in it but we couldn't see anything. He pushed from bottom with this little tool and there was a tiny piece of plastic caught in there. He fixed that and he showed me how to do it. It was an easy fix. And the other thing, he said it was probably too many minerals built up. Unfortunately, I'd have to replace the whole thing but I haven't. I'm just working with that. The plumber was excellent. I've had AHS for a while and I've always been pleased.

    Once I figured out how American Home Shield works, it has been good. All the repairmen have been good. When Modern Plumbing came out, they told me what was gonna happen, and they followed up on that, and that was what happened, and it’s been very good. The furnace claim was the most difficult, and that wasn’t with the service people, that was with American Home Shield. Getting it all lined up was ridiculous.

    American Home Shield didn’t have anybody to do the furnace in this area. And the person on the phone told me that American Home Shield would not be honoring my warranty with regard to my furnace because there was nobody there to do it. She was ridiculous about it. The following night, a gentleman called, and he said he had it all straightened out and it was all scheduled. When I called to check the status, they said they still had no one in the area. But Modern Plumbing is right close to American Home Shield, and then it’s close to Ryan’s, the people that American Home Shield were signing up to do the furnace work.

    Liz, the lady that helps at Modern Plumbing, told me that I had to call and request a service from American Home Shield before anything can happen. So I did that and they still told me that they weren’t working with Ryan’s Plumbing. I called Ryan’s Plumbing back and the guy said he had several conversations with American Home Shield. He said it had been a difficult process for him to get signed up, but it was all set to go. Liz at Modern Plumbing told me once everything’s signed up with American Home Shield, they’re great to work with, which turned out to be the case with Modern Plumbing. Everything went the way it was supposed to go. But we were afraid our furnace was gonna go out before we got anybody here to fix it. But that’s all in schedule now. They’re supposed to come out tomorrow.

    The service people that American Home Shield contacts to do the work were amazing. Everything goes fine once it gets scheduled. But American Home Shield has a lot of work to do on their end with regard to the people handling the service calls. The telephone people that we reached when we called the number didn't know anything. They were just supposed to schedule an appointment. I had a number that I could call, but it was always a voicemail and I never get a return answer. The scheduling people were not trained very well. They were probably not even in America. Their accents were so heavy, and you couldn’t understand them. They need to use American people. And if they are Americans that have immigrated here, they need to work on their speaking abilities.

    Having AHS, I don't have to look around trying to get people to come here. The contractors have been pretty good for the most part, although I've had a couple of lemons. I had A & A Heating and Cooling and they were on time, professional, and did everything I asked them to do. I like to call up and talk when I submit claims. It's easier sometimes to just talk to an agent. But the prices are getting pretty pricey for us as far as the copay and sometimes, talking to an agent is rather hard. I'm 20 or 30 minutes on the line waiting for them to pick up because they're either on the other call or doing something else.

    I have called American Home Shield to come take a look at my ceiling fan. It took about 2.5 weeks for someone to come out. The technicians were polite and noticed my ceiling fan isn't serviceable anymore so they requested AHS for a new fan. The next day I get a call from the contractor saying everything was covered and I would be getting a new fan with a remote control but because I cannot use the same fan brace that is in the attic I would have to pay for that because that is a modification. AHS does not cover modifications. American Home Shield will cover a fan with a remote when I don't need the remote because the same fan they ordered has the option of not having the remote control attachment. The fan cost almost 100 dollars more for the remote.

    AHS does not cover a ceiling fan support but they will cover a remote so you can have the comfort of sitting in your easy chair and pointing a remote to turn it on or off. I guess I know what priorities AHS are more important to them. A remote controlled fan over a brace. I don't expect AHS to respond to this negative review but I hope people read this and realize what is more important to AHS. CONVENIENCE OVER SAFETY.

    BEWARE. Although this company is okay, the day that you try to cancel they will first give you the run around and then they will charge you an administrative fee for the cancellation. Ridiculous!     I am a 10-year customer of American Home Shield. They recently denied my pair of my washing machine over items that a previous contractor had broken. A button and the frame not being reattached correctly. They will not repair my washer because of this. They never call you back and they never follow up. All they do is take your monthly payment. They will not even send me out the denial of my covered item. They leave you in an endless loop and never follow up nor care about your issues. If you miss a payment though they will definitely call you. Avoid this company at all cost.

    When I first started with American Home Shield, I was with them for about four years. I then had an issue with them and they wouldn't correct the issue so I left. I tried two or three other companies but they didn't measure up. They send a person out here to repair something and the person would just send them a notice saying that the unit was old and they refuse to repair it. So, I came back to American Home Shield about five months ago. Having a home warranty saves money. I've had a heating issue and American Home Shield's contractor was dispatched, and it was very efficient. They came, repaired the unit and they were gone within 30 minutes.

    My dryer stopped heating up and the experience with American Home Shield for the claim went good. It took a few times for the contractor to fix the dryer and that was the third time they have come out. It was kinda like a little fuse inside the dryer. The part was new but he was not sure why it kept going out, but he put another part in there and it fixed the problem. Since the repair, everything has been going great and the dryer has been working perfectly. The technician told me to let AHS know if I had any problems within 30 days but I haven't had any problems with the dryer. The contractor did a wonderful job. I love InterTech Maintenance and I like it when they come out and fix because they're always professional and nice. I request them to come out. AHS also fixed my icemaker and my washing machine and they are taking care of two of my family members already.
