Everything went very well with our heating claim with AHS. Submitting the claim was easy. I did it online. I immediately received a text message or an email or both, stating that AC had been connected to my account and I should be hearing from them within 24 hours. It was less than that that I heard from them. The company that came out did exactly what they said they were gonna do, sent an email and then gave me a time frame. They were here within that time frame and everything got repaired. I've been very happy with the prompt response from both AHS and the companies that I've been linked to for any repairs. I just moved over to AHS about four months ago. I wish I'd had them all along because my previous company that I had never approved anything or worked with me at all.

We had a furnace check-up. The technician that came cleaned it. He said I was using the wrong filter, so he suggested the correct filters for me to use. He was very friendly and very professional.

It was good with Prime Plumbing. They called before they got here. They were on time and very friendly. I had two clogged drains and everything was done pretty quickly and well. They spent about 30 minutes on site. They were clean and professional too.

The first contractor checked my heating system to make sure everything was good, and that went perfectly okay. I had another claim for ductwork because I had airflow issues and then, American Home Shield assigned me a company that doesn't work on airflow. So, I had to cancel that. When I called AHS and told them about it, they said that they would note and make sure to specifically ask that they could do what I need. Hours later, they ended up reassigning me to the same company that said they couldn't do that type of work. So, I canceled it all and found someone else to do it. I didn’t go with AHS on that because it was frustrating.
Good Morning Erica,
Thank you for your feedback concerning your most recent service request. We apologize that we were not able to locate a contractor who was able to assist with your needs. Have an awesome day and please stay safe.

I was doing a callback for a washer claim and I couldn't do it online. So I had to go by phone. It was a little bit more difficult. But the technician sent out by American Home Shield was excellent. He was on time, dressed professionally and very articulate. He was able to find the problem quickly and he was able to resolve it perfectly. The washer is working fine since. I've been using American Home Shield for years and they're awesome. They are very responsive and they're very easy to schedule appointments with. Also, the contractors that they use are very knowledgeable and professional.

American Home Shield is a valuable thing to have for repairs when owning a home. It’s easy. I don’t have to search for contractors to do the work. The ones that they recommend that are part of the service are top notch. I submitted a claim for an AC repair and the guy who came has been out before. He’s great at what he does. Since then, the AC has been running perfectly.

My wife had American Home Shield through her last home, so she was adamant that we switch over and I’m satisfied that we did. The guy from Texas Best had whatever needed to be replaced on the AC unit in his truck so he was able to do it right then and there. So that was nice. The blower unit was replaced last year when we first moved in and the previous home warranty company that the previous owners had covered it. They replaced it with a model that's set for 110 voltage and it needed a 220, and it took them a week to get it.

The technician who came out for my dishwasher was very nice and very knowledgeable. He replaced the plastic brackets of the upper shelf. There was nothing mechanical with the dishwasher. It’s just some plastic bracket that broke. I did everything online and It was fairly easy to do. The work that the technician did was great. That is the first time that I can ever say that. I’m hesitant about all of these people that come on this home warranty. I used to have another company that my Realtor purchased and they were the most horrible company in the whole world. They're all bad. But I've only been with American Home Shield for about two months and so far, so good.

The faucet in my hall bathroom was leaking. We had called the American Home Shield before for service and were told that they could only do so much because what they needed to do was knock out the wall and repair it. So, they did what they could. So, until I'm ready to knock out the wall and change everything, I'll have to live with it.
My boys were telling me months ago that the water pressure in the shower was getting way low. I needed to have it checked because this was different than what it was before ‘cause it was leaking continuously. But SAP Services came out. The very nice young man told us that the valve inside the washer thing needed to be ordered because it was a company brand that they didn't carry on their van. He ordered that and as soon as it came in, he would come in and replace it. I also had a new showerhead that he put on for me and he took off the old one. The boys said that the water pressure was now amazing. The young man also came in yesterday and replaced the faucet piece and did an excellent job. It doesn't leak anymore. SAP Services is really nice.
We have been a continuous American Home Shield customer for quite a few years. I like it and I won't change it. The only thing that bothers me is when renewing the same policy every year, they give me a new policy number. So sometimes it will get put on my desk and not get filed away with the rest of them. So, it's a big, long process to find out what the new number is.

I usually call American Home Shield to submit a claim. We submitted a claim on an icemaker, they contacted the appliance guy and within three days, he came out. He took a look, ran a check on it and told me it was bad. After another three days, he came back and replaced a part in the icemaker. He was great and very professional. I've had American Home Shield for almost 30 years. I've had other claims and I've got good service. I've recommended several people to them over the years.

The top part of my refrigerator had gone out. It was getting a whole lot of ice and it wasn't cooling off at the bottom. Then there was some rubber part that's connected to the door at the top that had come down. The contractor that was sent out was really nice. He had to come back because the rubber under the door wasn't letting the top shut. Now, It's performing like it's supposed to. I couldn't get in the ice, and now my ice maker is working. American Home Shield is worth it.
Thank you for sharing your recent experiences with us. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

There was something going on with the pool heater panel. It had moisture in that the guy said dried out. He's been out here before and he did a good job. He took care of it so it's working now. However, I have two $100 charges that American Home Shield is supposed to be taking care of. They need to have a better way of following up with that sort of thing. I put the order in then we cancelled it because something came up and we had to go out of town. I called back the next week and rescheduled it. The last person assured me that $100 would be taken off. It takes about three to five days and I'm gonna give it three to five days. Other than that, they're fine that's why I do business with them. I’ve always had them in the past. This time, I've had them for maybe three years.

The double oven had an issue with the panel. It didn't light up or respond to any command. My husband tried to do the claim over the internet, but then he couldn't, so we ended up doing it over the phone. Then the contractor came to look at the issue and they said that the options were limited to fix it and that they would get back to us in a few days, which they did. They said that they could either try to get a new panel, but that it was very unlikely because it was an older model. The other option would be to remove the panel and send it to get it fixed, and that it would take about five weeks to fix it.
American Home Shield called us and said that either we could do that and take five weeks to fix it, or they would offer some money for us to replace the oven. So we took the money. It was not very much. It was pretty low. My expectation was that they would offer us something that worked and replace what we have. I would have expected them to be able to give us another one in the lowest range ever, but something workable. Because they offered just $400 to fix it. So, with $400, we cannot really replace a double oven. The previous owners of the house told us they had the same issue less than a year ago with the oven and they did the claim through the same insurance, but they didn't have any record, which was weird.

I tried submitting claims online to Home Shield and if I have hang-ups doing it that way, I submit claims using the telephone. When doing things online, I either cannot find the right description or AHS's drop-down menu didn't have the right offering. We had an annual check-up of our central furnace in our house and our gas furnace. Royal Flush AC & Heating's tech diagnosed a problem. We did a repair order through American Home Shield and replaced the draft motor and fan unit in the furnace. I paid $75 to AHS to cover the check-up and another $100 for the next service call. The tech obtained the parts and put them in. I was very impressed with him. He was very efficient, helpful, and professional.

After I submitted the original issue with my air conditioning to AHS, someone came out and looked at it. They found that there was a part that needed to be replaced and I was told that it would be put on order. But I never heard back about when it would actually be repaired and as far as I know, the trouble claim is still open. I was also told by the company that originally came out and looked at my AC that they were going to come out again on Monday. But that was a week and a half ago and no one ever showed up. I submitted a second ticket because I got an email from American Home Shield saying that my claim was concluded. That was confusing to me because my AC wasn't fixed yet. I informed American Home Shield about it and at the moment, I don't know where I stand.
Other than that, I like the service that AHS provides. It's a great service and very beneficial to have. But I feel like they haven't really given the right amount of care to my issue. Still, I'm pretty sure that that's not how they treat everyone or every issue. I also would tell others to have American Home Shield. The warranty is very important because they cover a lot of major appliances that if you needed to repair or replace would cost thousands of dollars that no one can afford. But when you submit a claim, you need to follow up and keep track of it.

I had two appliances broken, and the same company, Sears, fixed them both. They were fantastic. On my microwave, the magnetron failed. That's the unit that produces the microwaves. They ordered the part, it was then delivered to my house, and they scheduled a time to come back to put it in. In the meantime, my dryer broke. They came back a couple of days later, diagnosed the dryer and had the parts sent in for that. Two people arrived at the same time on the repair day because they needed two people to get the microwave out of the wall. Each worked on the two individual units, and they got them both fixed and put them back in.
The only thing that concerns me is sometimes the air conditioning company is too long a wait. I'm partially handicapped and with health issues. I cannot be without air conditioning, but I've managed to get through it each time. One time, I had almost a five-day wait. But in the last couple service calls, they were more prompt. They took only a couple of days. But in the summer here in Naples, Florida, I can't take it. If it's really bad, I have to get a hotel or go to my daughter's. Also, Home Shield's website should be able to let me tell them more information so they can be more prepared when the vendors come. It doesn't give you the opportunity to describe the problem. So, they show up, and if I had been able to describe the problems, they might have been able to have the parts with them to fix it on the spot.
The service keeps the cost down. I haven't had to buy new appliances. If my microwave broke and I didn't have a warranty on it, I would have just went out and bought a new one for 400 bucks. But I'm paying a $75 service call. I pay my premium every month. If it's a minor repair and something I could have fixed myself for less than 75 bucks, that would probably upset me, but that's the way it is. Home Shield has done all right.

A night or two before I moved into the property, I heard a loud noise in the walls. I thought it was maybe because I had had the hot water running, which was what happened. A couple of days after I moved in, we were running the hot water and I heard the noise again. It was really loud in a certain area of the house. My Realtor called American Home Shield because she told me she was gonna do the claim for that. We also had a claim to put in for a burner issue we had on the stove. After that, they had been in touch with me.
At the time that my realtor told me she was going to initiate the claims, she also told me that she would make payment for the fee of the service person to come out. But later on, I got an invoice for payment for both of the service claims. I wasn't understanding exactly what was going on with that. I paid for one but I did not wanna pay for the other one because I hadn’t gotten in touch with those appliance people and I haven’t received the service. I called American Home Shield back and the young lady explained to me that the payment initially was initiated for both of the service fee calls, but the payment did not go through. I'm assuming that was the payment that my Realtor sent on her credit card. I ended up I making payments for both.
The Lindsay Company came out for our plumbing issue. It turned out the problem was related to the water heater. The reason I understood it was related to that was because my brother ended up going in the attic the day after I moved in. He said that the water heater needed to be flushed as there was sediment that settled in. The young man that came out was the expert in his area and he stated that based on the age of the unit and the size of the sediments, it wouldn't make sense to flush it. It probably wouldn't even flush properly because the sediments are too large to pass through.
The young man was well-versed in what he was sharing with me. He even took me outside to show me the pipes that are coming from the house that are connected with the water heater that might give me any type of indication. He told me to make sure I checked it on a weekly basis to see if anything might be leaking.

I got a new washing machine a year ago and I told the rep about it and she said they would have someone come out and pick the old one up. A real nice man came to pick it up but it was a year later. The company that brought it out, I had paid the disposal fee and he kept saying that he was going to send his boss out because he didn't have any room in his van. The boss never came and no one ever called. I told Home Shield and they got in touch with the company for me. It worked out. Also, when I got the washing machine, the gentleman stayed and showed me how to work it. He gave me some tips about washing and about laundry detergent.
The dishwasher was my most recent claim and I told the tech it had been here when I got here 20 years ago and he ignored me when I said that. They sent some parts and each time a part came, I had to tell them and then they would put me in the system for someone to come over to put the part in. Another part came and I thought it was just one part. I didn't call them and let them know. I called and told them the gentleman didn't come. They said I was supposed to call them.
I had to make two calls and then finally the tech came and he couldn’t get the part in. He said they would give me a new unit and he had to talk to people on the phone. He said they looked it up my dishwasher is 22 years old, which I had told him. I have to get a new dishwasher and I've been calling the 800 number that they wanted me to call to have someone come out and bring one and it's been busy. The call center is so backed up that it takes two hours to get to them and I can’t sit on the phone for two hours. I don't know what to do now. Other than that, Home Shield has saved me so much money and they pick the right companies to come up to my home to service me. I've told others I don't have to worry about getting things fixed because I got Home Shield.

Our refrigerator was not cold, then our freezer was not freezing things adequately. When I submitted the request to the American Home Shield online, they gave me a message saying Active Appliance would reach out within 24 hours. They did not reach out to me for several days. After at least 48 hours, I tried to reach Active Appliance, and I was on the phone for quite a long time and wasn't able to get ahold of anybody. I was put on hold and then I got cut off. By that time, I got frustrated. That was a Friday, so I just tried waiting until the following week. I waited till after the weekend and hoping that they would reach out to me, but it was around Tuesday that I was able to have a chance to call them and get ahold of somebody again. Their intake system was a problem. But once I got ahold of them, they were very professional and did the job well.

When the contractor came out for the washer recently, it was a simple fix. The technician was really smart and really fast. He just took a look at it and brought what he needed he suspected from what I told him. I was very happy with the results. Now the washer’s running better than it ever had for a while longer. Overall, I was quite impressed with American Home Shield. Their people on the phone soured me right off the bat though. It seemed like the first girl that I got was a foreigner. I couldn't understand a word she said and she was like a third-grader trying to talk to them. I thought, “This is not going to work. I had an electrical outlet issue. The claim process was pretty good. The electrician was great and got the issue resolved. I’m just never sure of what my policy really is with Home Shield. Every time someone is coming out, nothing seems to be covered in the plan. It happened in the past as well. I had a problem with the plumbing on my last claim with Home Shield, and the plumber came out and said he was going to get some parts and come back to finish the job, and never returned. I still haven't seen the plumber again yet. This is my first year with Home Shield. I'm not understanding what we're paying for. I'm not understanding what we're getting.
So far, my experience has been pretty good as long as I can find out what coverage I have. Then when you’re calling in and you gotta pay your money upfront, and then you gotta call, and then I gotta schedule appointment with the electrician. Thank God that the electrical part didn’t burn the house down this time. It takes too long to get to the final part of the process. You call, and and then they want you to do most stuff online. There's no one live that you can talk to. I would recommend Home Shield, but I would tell people to make sure they know what they're getting. When they talk with someone, find out exactly what the coverage is.

So, we had a leak from the way that it was connected. I saw it quickly after he left and they came back out the next day. It was annoying but other than that, they fixed the problem. American Home Shield is good and it wasn’t an issue this time. I was able to get somebody out the same day because we had to have the water off to the house. We were having problems with our heating system. I was turning on the thermostat, but the system wasn't coming on at all. We had had the hurricane come through here so we had lost power the day before. I reset the system, the breakers, and it wasn't coming on. When it came on, there was a really horrible electric fire type of smell, so I was hesitant to run it. I was terrified that I would burn my house down.
I put in the trouble call. The guy came out and checked the system. He was really thorough. He went through everything in the system to make sure that everything was wired properly. At first, he couldn't find anything wrong. But then, as he was finishing up, he checked the thermostat just to make sure. He said that the control unit of the thermostat had somehow shorted itself. He'd never seen one like it. That was what was causing it not to trip on and that was what was causing the electric smell. He replaced just the control unit and it's been working great ever since.
The guy has done work for us before and he is the most friendly and professional type of dude. Sometimes it almost feels antagonistic with people that come in that try to do repairs because you want them to do a good job but they're busy. However, Precise Conditions has been fantastic. I hope that they don't ever fall off of American Home Shield’s contractor list because they are very responsive. The guy gave me his personal number so if anything ever happens in the middle of the night if I smell that smell I could give him a call and he'd come and fix it for me.
There was a period last year where it seemed like AHS was having some difficulty getting contractors assigned in a timely fashion. I live in an older house and with that, it's kind of unpredictable. You can think everything is perfect, and then you wake up one day and then something's just not right. There were a couple of times last year where it felt like I had to call them back two or three times to ask for a contractor or if I can independently go out and try to find somebody. This was in the wintertime and we had lost heat at one point and so it was really cold in the house.
But this year, I don't know if they did an overhaul or if they just made a concerted effort to get contractors assigned faster and make sure that the process went smoother. Literally, the two calls I've had in the past six months or so, I had a contractor assigned in 15 minutes. I'm pretty satisfied with AHS. There was another warranty that was included with the sale of the place then my Realtor told me about the warranty company he uses and recommend that I go with them. It was AHS and so I'm glad that she switched me over. I would recommend them 100%.

The guy has a really impressive skill set and could listen to the air conditioner or to the furnace and say what was wrong with it. It took him about 30 seconds to fix the problem and then he spent some time with us explaining what we could do and what we could do better. I wasn't expecting that and I'm not used to it from a home warranty type of experience. It's my first time to have a home warranty that is kinda what you hope you're gonna get.

While there are a couple of ways I can submit claims to American Home Shield, I usually submit my claim online 'cause they are quicker to respond that way. Within an hour or so, a technician would call me back to set up a time to come out and look at my problem. When I need to speak to a live person though, the wait time is long and I've waiting nearly three hours to talk to a person. I give them the benefit of the doubt though because of the pandemic as not everyone's working right now.
Recently, I had an inoperable ice maker in my kitchen refrigerator. The contractor I got was Ericksen Appliance Service and they have been very professional and timely in the two times they've been out at our place. They don't cover our area full time but they get to our location in a decent amount of time. AHS definitely targets very responsive contractors.
Apart from the ice maker issue, we had two calls for AC service and those were handled in a very timely way as well. We also have a dishwasher that isn't working anymore and AHS did their part for that. I've had really positive experiences with Home Shield and replacement value has been really great with them. When something goes wrong and it's beyond repair, they do a super job making sure that I get something comparable in its place.

I called American Home Shield and said that I needed somebody to fix the heat pump. They sent somebody out the next day but it took a while for the part to get there. So, it took the better part of a week for it to get fixed. Other than this, I had claims with AHS to put in a new air conditioner and various things. The experience with them has been very satisfactory and I have no complaints.

We've had American Home Shield for a long time. We moved in here in ‘96 and it was somewhere shortly after when my husband got it. One time, my heater wouldn't shut off, so I had to unplug it. My husband said, “Oh, I think it's the baseboard, but let’s leave it to the experts.” I called American Home Shield and spoke with an agent. They said the contractor would call me to schedule the appointment, and they called right away.
The first guy that came out on Friday just plugged my heater back up, pounded on it and it started running. He looked inside, tested it and said it was the baseboard. A lot of times, you have to wait a long time for the part, but it didn’t take them long to come out here. By that Monday morning, another guy came here with the part and he fixed it. It was good service, and my heater is working great.

American Home Shield has worked really well for me and submitting claims has been fairly easy. When I reach out to their customer service team through email, they take care of my problem. Most recently, I had an electrical issue and when I submitted a claim AHS got back to me fairly quickly. The technicians they sent were fantastic. The first one who came out was very knowledgeable and he diagnosed my problem. Then, AHS wanted a second opinion to verify so they sent the second guy and he found the same issue. He then repaired the electrical leg that I had a problem with. The work was done very well.

I went online to file a furnace claim and that process was much easier. Usually, when I call, there's like a bit of a wait. But online, I can fill out a claim in two minutes. I opened the ticket in the afternoon. Within an hour, I received a call from the contractor saying that they would be out the following morning between 8:30 and 9:00. They got there probably about 8:45. It was an actual service repair. The upstairs heating was working fine. But when we turned the downstairs on, nothing happens and it was very cold. They explained what the issue was and replaced a part. Then within 10 minutes, we could tell that it kicked on, so that was fine. They were there for 45 minutes and had everything fixed.
The only issue that I've ever had with Home Shield, and I don't know if it's an issue, is that if we have an AC unit that goes out, it's usually two or three days before someone can come out, and then I'm able to get someone else to come out earlier than that. But we live in Texas, and it's usually right in the middle of summer, so I'm sure the contractors are very busy. If we could just get faster service in the summer on AC, then we would have no issues. I've had conversations with friends buying their first home to get Home Shield, just because if something happens, it's gonna be a lot more expensive if they don't have it than if they do.

AMS of The South came out and fixed the shutoff receptacle of my air conditioner. So, everything was working. My air conditioning went out again two days ago so I called and set up another appointment. But due to the hurricane we just had, I won't be able to get in touch with the contractor probably till Friday. I usually go on a computer and go to American Home Shield’s website and do a request for service. In 24 hours, they always call me within the next day of me submitting the claim and let me know that either a technician is on the way or they're trying to get with me. The service provided by the contractors were great and I’m very satisfied with AHS.

We had a dishwasher that stopped working and American Home Shield sent out a fellow. They said he was gonna be there at 9 o'clock and he came at 9:15, which was relatively close to on time. My wife dealt with him. She was very pleased with his knowledge of our particular dishwasher, understood what it was that it needed right off the bat and fixed it. Fixing it was rather simple once you knew what needed to be done and he took care of that. He educated my wife a little bit on the product and what it was she should do in the future. We felt comfortable with it and we've had no problem with the dishwasher ever since. It was great although I paid $133 for the call, which is a lot of money. I would like to see that down into the $85 range as opposed to $135 range.
We live in an area that’s about halfway between two cities on the ocean in North Carolina. So, we don't have a whole lot of local people to handle things like this. They always have to come from 30 miles away to help us, which tends to be an issue from time to time. There's not much you can do about it. It just happens to be where we live.

Submitting a claim with AHS was extremely simple. I just went online, typed in what I needed. It popped up. They were back to me within 24 hours with who was gonna come out, and what was gonna take place. It all just flowed smoothly. Recently, I submitted a claim for a hose bib. The pipe coming in from the wall was leaking. The contractors scheduled the time and they came out. They diagnosed the problem of what it was 'cause I wasn't sure what it was. They crawled under the house, fixed it and cleaned up everywhere around where they were and it was done. It was great.
AHS did an excellent job. I'm single. I don't have that extra person that's there. AHS is a lifesaver. Because not knowing exactly what is wrong with something and somebody coming out looking at it, they know exactly how to handle it. Especially for older people, single people, people who are too busy, it's a great tool to be able to have. I'm very happy with them.

I have two houses and I had a claim recently for both of them. My AC was leaking in one house. It's super old and there are no serial numbers on it. The tech from Top Notch came out and he knew it was leaking. Instead of him reporting to American Home Shield, he put in a claim to get a new coil and a new drip pan. There's no make and model. Everything is worn off of it. I didn't know how he would get those items if there's no information.
I called American Home Shield and I explained. Unfortunately, I got someone who has a communication barrier due to culture. Then I had to make all the phone calls and I had to be communicating with the company. They are not very proactive on anything. Hopefully, they've gone back and forth with American Home Shield. Finally, American Home Shield understood that there's no make and model after Top Notch told them. So supposedly, they have half of the new heater/air conditioner, and they're waiting on the other half. The last time I was told, it had been ordered, and they had to cancel that order and reorder with a different company. It was gonna be another 7 to 10 days out.
I also had an air conditioner/heater unit claim at my rental house and everything went great. But it's winter weather so the people there are not really using the AC. The time before that, my hot water heater went out and American Home Shield took care of it immediately. It's a very good program to have. I have lots of confidence in the fact that if something goes wrong at my house, I don't have to shovel out a bunch of money, which is great. The bad part is that I don't have a say in who my contractors are. I've had some amazing contractors that come out, very knowledgeable, and they know what they're doing. Then this last time, I got one that is not so great. That's the only downfall.

The claims process can be tedious when I do it online, and the company that AHS forwards the information to may not call in an expeditious manner so sometimes, that could be a problem. Sometimes I have to call the company back as opposed to them calling me. I don't know how AHS disseminates the information to the companies they're working with. If they say they're giving the information out, I have to take them on that face value until I know something's different. Then once the information's given out, I don't know how the company does or doesn't. But he did well.
I've had another incident recently where somebody came out for a plumbing issue and they really didn't know what was going on. The guy couldn't give me a definitive answer. And they didn't give me another answer until their company called me back. Then all of a sudden, I'm getting a call back about they wanna come back out and do some more service. The plumber didn't fix the issue. So, if they can't turn me onto an issue or tell me that I need to find a higher-level of help, then what's the purpose of the company coming out to tell me nothing, and pay them a deductible. I'm in the process of seeing if that's gonna be resolved. Recently, McGee Services was sent out for our breaker in the circuit that kept tripping in the garage. They replaced the socket and it's been working fine ever since.

Right at the end when my dryer stops drying, it shuts off completely and there's a beeping sound. There's a code on the LCD saying “HE”. When I open up the dryer, it's scorching hot. I looked up the code. What's going on is something with the thermostat never transitions away from super-hot to a fluff. It's supposed to be slowly decreasing heat because of the model and the technology. But it doesn't do that. The clothes come out wrinkled. I called American Home Shield for a service request and they assigned Universal 1 Repair to me. The guy who came out was awesome.
At this time, we're waiting on AHS to approve parts. I called them back because they were supposed to get back to Universal when it was okay to purchase a part. I was confused. There was no follow-up. I don't think it's on Universal's part but it was more on AHS' side. When I looked at their email, it said the claim was completed which is not true. I go on the AHS site and it also shows everything is done. I talked to the contractor and they said it was AHS' system and I agree with them. It is very misleading. It's total garbage and it doesn't make sense. Time is precious to me and I wasted time twice yesterday calling them. I waited for 40 minutes. I was angry and I hung up.
It all comes down to the AHS portal that I'm logging on to to get updates and the people that I talked to. It gives me no status and doesn't give me enough information. It's lacking big time. I shouldn't have to call people in this day and age. I should just be able to look at a work order, type it in, and not see "complete" when I know very well it's not even near being complete. I'm not happy and I would not be recommending AHS.

Our hot water heater died. The element wiring shorted out so it was fried. Affordable Plumbing came out to look at it, thinking they might be able to fix it on Friday last week. Once they figured out that they needed a new one, they called the company and the company ordered the new one. But it wasn't ready for pickup until Sunday night. They tried to pick it up Monday and they tried to get out here. But I felt that they got caught in bridge traffic and it was going to be too long for them to actually drive out, put it in, and get back. We live quite rurally and we're an hour from pretty much anywhere. But we got it put in, it's working, and it's wonderful.
They were a great crew, amazing, very professional, and very courteous with the “ma’ams”. They kept in touch with me with what was going on and did a great job. They brought it up to code ‘cause it didn't have a pan to drain under it, in case it actually dies the way the other hot water heaters have died in my life which just turns into a dragon and then just water everywhere. Overall, American Home Shield is definitely worth it. It saved us hundreds of dollars.

The contractor for the ice maker had to order parts and so the repair took a couple of weeks. Everything is delayed with shipping so that wasn't a big deal. I'm mostly unhappy with AHS and I might discontinue it. I notice the service has gone down in the last couple of years. I called for the latest issue and their automated system is faulty. When you put in your information, like your zip code, it would ask you to enter something valid. It's tough. You don't always get a live person right away and the automated system has got glitches. Then, when I'm trying to communicate an issue, I sometimes have a hard time. I talk to people halfway around the world and it's hard to understand, which is not their fault. Also, the fees keep going up for my monthly. I'm paying lots of money and I can't get somebody to come out for days. The warranty won't even work with me.
I filed an electrical claim for my lights and it hasn't been resolved yet because the lighting that was in question was working at the time the tech was here. It was hard to diagnose the problem. I don't have power upstairs and I told them I have small children here and to please authorize somebody outside to come in and take care of the work. But they said they couldn't do that and gave me the hardest time. They refused to authorize an electrician to come out and provide reimbursement. And when I tried to call the number that's provided, it reroutes me to a call center so there is no way to report a concern. I have no way to get in contact with anybody at the headquarters. They put me on extended hold and if you want a supervisor or higher up, they don't seem to exist anymore.
Also, they tried to find a loophole. They said they were sending out another service call because the issue wasn't resolved in 90 days. The rep kept asking me over and over again if it was about the lighting. She tried to find a loophole to charge me again. I told her I was very clear when I stated the issue the first time. I've made several calls and it's my entire upstairs. She went, “Was it this bedroom? Is it the hallway? The hallway is not included.” I told her the hallway is upstairs. I was so angry I almost canceled on the spot. I'm that upset about the warranty for what I pay.
I don't need the warranty constantly but it's nice to have if something breaks. But with anything that has needed repair over the last 12 years more than something surface, I've had to battle the home warranty. I didn't have air conditioning for the summer and they wouldn't cover the ductwork. It's been kind of a headache and I can't communicate that well with the people in the call center. One time, there was something that one of the representatives was saying that I didn't understand at all. It was a different word for something. I had to keep saying I didn't understand and to please repeat what was said. It makes me feel bad and it makes the representative feel bad.
Good Morning Erin,

The gal told me that she got confused that there were two washers and she just deleted one, not realizing there really were two. Then she was telling me that she had to have been doing more paperwork for American Home Shield and resubmit that. So it’s still in the making.
We are still waiting on our other washer. I keep trying to find something online or an email that tells me that it's still in progress. Other than that, we're very, very, very happy with American Home Shield. We had another claim for the water heater that had been leaking for quite a while. By the time we got someone out here, they replaced the water heater. He was a great serviceman. He was efficient. We couldn't be happier. I've only had one person that I wasn't that thrilled with in the last couple of months. It seems to have really been crazy with COVID and more slow than normal.

When my husband submitted the claim for the garage door, I'm assuming that American Home Shield didn't ask him what we did think was wrong. The reason why that was important at this time is if he had told them the spring was broken, they would've said that our warranty doesn't cover the spring. The guy that came out was very nice and very professional but we ended up paying $100 for the service and we had to pay another $180 because it wasn't covered by the warranty.
I would like for American Home Shield to add that to their questioning when you call in, "Do you know the area where the problem is?" By doing that, I would assume the person would've said they don't cover that under the warranty. But American Home Shield is very calming. They don't give a hassle. When we call, they're not trying to avoid us using the warranty. Some companies want you to take the warranty and as long as you don't stake a claim, they're happy with you. But soon as you stake a claim, they wanna give you the third degree about everything. American Home Shield is not like that and I appreciate that.

We had a leak in the tub. The water was going downstairs and we needed the faucets replaced in the bathtub. We also had issues with the toilet. They had to replace the panel below the toilet because it was making the toilet wobble when you sit on it. I just called Home Shield and told them what issue was. The contractor came the next day and they looked at everything. They had a few things that they did that particular day, but then they had to reschedule because what they had to do would take half the day. That was Friday that they came out. They were here for five hours. But they’re supposed to be here in the next 10 minutes because ring that's around the valve that they put on the bathtub is not tight. They will be back to tighten it up. Other than that, everything was fine.

Our no-frost refrigerator started frosting over and making a loud clicking noise. At one point, it cut itself off and didn't start for 24 hours. When it started up again, it continued making noise. I called American Home Shield and the reps I worked with were very professional. They took care of what i asked. I was told that I should hear from their contractor within 24 hours to set up the appointment. The contractor was very prompt in calling me. Within a couple of hours of filing my claim, they called and explained that they were overbooked. Their rep said that it might take a week. I called the rep back and told her that my refrigerator had stopped working and she was able to get someone out in less than 48 hours. The unit is working fine since their tech came. I've had Home Shield for 15 years and they've always been able to take care of what I want.
Good afternoon Jeana,

On October 5, 2020, I filed a claim with AHS about my 7 year old Bryant furnace not working (Heating model #987MA66100V21A-B SERIAL # 1612A43819) installed in 2013. When an HVAC technician, B&W Tin Shop (563) 650-8333 or (309) 762-5419, AHS contracted with came out, he quickly discovered the problem with 1 part on the furnace that needs to be replaced. After 1 week, I still had not heard back from him, so I called him. He claimed the part was obsolete and no longer made by Bryant. I told him I looked up my model and part online and found it at DIY websites. I called around to Bryant reps locally who told me this was 100% incorrect, that he should know better and should know he can get the part at a local supply house. I called him back to share this with him. He went to a local supply house and found out they do indeed carry the part, but that he would have to get AHS to authorize the purchase.
When I called AHS to inquire as to when this would be authorized, they claim they are still waiting on him to call him. When I talk to him, he says he is waiting on them to authorize it and that it will take 10 days for the part to come in. When I call AHS to get a status update they tell me they cannot get ahold of the contractor and will email him and call me the next day, which they never do. When I call them I wait on hold for 40 minutes each time. When the rep comes on, she puts me on hold to "read my file", then a computer asks me to rate my service and disconnects me. This has happened 3 times so far. I cannot get a real person to actually help me and we are under a weather advisory that the temps will fall to 20F tonight.
I don't know what to do for my family and this company is clearly in the business of giving people the run around. All the reputable HVAC companies that's I've called around here say they won't work with AHS anymore because they won't pay and give everyone the run around. I see this is true. On 10/15/2020, 4:20 pm CST, after multiple calls and waiting on hold for 2 hours total, I finally got Maria on the phone (EE# **). She informed me that they ordered an inducer motor for my furnace and would ship it to B&W Tin Shop to install. She said they did not have an ETA on when it would arrive. On 10/15/2020, 4:23 pm CST, Todd ** with B&W Tin Shop returned my call let me know AHS would ship the inducer motor to my address and that when it comes in he will come out and install it if I call him.
10/29/2020 9:22 am I called for B & W Tinn Shop (Todd **) I called his Illinois number he has on file with AHS. No one has ever picked up at this number and the voicemail is full. I called his Iowa number and was immediately sent to voicemail. I left a detailed voicemail.. 10/29/2020 9:23 am After waiting on hold for 10 minutes I was able to speak with Jeff (EE ID# **) who also tried calling B&W Tin Shop. He said he also wasn’t able to get anyone on the phone. He said he would try again in 2 hours. He said he was escalating my case with AHS.
10/29/2020 4:41pm - 4:55pm Since Todd ** at B&W Tin Shop never returned my call and voicemail, I decided to call him repeatedly 12 times in a row until he finally picked up. When he picked up, I could hear a TV in the background. He wasn’t working, he was watching TV. I reminded him of his promise to install the part needed to repair my furnace the day it arrived. He asked me if it arrived. I told him AHS shipped it to him not me. He said he told AHS to ship it to me. He said until I get the part he cannot come and repair anything. He said it was a crazy situation, just a crazy situation.
10/29/2020 5:30pm After waiting on hold for 30 minutes I was once again disconnected. I called back and requested a returned call when someone could talk to me. 30 minutes later I received a call from AHS - Mercedes ** would not give me her Employee ID - she said she’s been advised not to give that information out. After checking, she said my case was not escalated by the last representative Jeff (EE ID# **). She promised she would do so. She also said she would call me back tomorrow. She said she is unable to see a tracking number for the part, but she did confirm that the part would be mailed to B&W Tin shop, not to me.

We have been a customer of AHS since December 2014. In the past six years, we have placed less than 10 service requests and only 3 or 4 requests have resulted in small repairs. Our annual contract payment started at $650 and currently we are paying $900 a year. I feel it is important to give this background. On 9/30/2020, a service request was made for our second floor A/C system, it was not cooling. A technician was sent on 10/05/2020 to check the A/C system. After checking the system, he said, "The refrigerant is low and we will have to come back to do a high-pressure leak search, but this needs an approval from AHS." Another technician came to do the pressure check on 10/09 and found a leak in the evaporator/case coil. He mentioned to me that since the system is very old and it uses old/R-22 refrigerant, he will be recommending replacing the system.
I got an email from AHS on 10/12/2020 around 10:30 AM stating that “There are limitations associated with approving your AIR CONDITIONING for dispatch under your American Home Shield home service contract at. Please call 833.603.0586 to learn more.” This email did not provide any other details. I called the number and the customer service person told me that I needed a new coil and the cost will be approx. $1200. I was very surprised to hear that, so I asked why? To that, she just pointed to Section E in the contract. I mentioned what technician had said about replacing the system, but she just pointed again to the contract section. I asked to speak with a supervisor. She said no one is available, but someone will call me back. I got a call back that night (I think around 10:30 PM) and I was already a half sleep. When I answered, the caller realized that it was late, and said, "I will call you back tomorrow during business hours."
The next day (10/13/20), no one called so I called AHS in the afternoon. I explained what happened yesterday and said I would like to speak with the supervisor who had called last night. She told me that she will transfer me to a supervisor so please hold. After about 20 minutes or so, the phone was disconnected and no one called back. The next day on October 14th I called AHS again. Please note that every time I call, I have to wait from 20 to 50 minutes then repeat everything. Very time consuming and frustrating. This is totally unacceptable. This time, I spent over an hour and half on the phone! I discussed why I was calling and asked why I can’t speak with a supervisor. I mentioned what the technician had said about replacing the system. He said in our system it says to just replace the coil.
I asked for a copy of the report submitted by the technician and he told me that he does not have access, but he will email the department to send a copy. I still have not received a copy from AHS. I got a copy of the report from the HVAC company. Their service inspection report says, “Found upstairs AC was out of refrigerant, Nitrogen tested for leak search and found leak in evap/case coil. System is 21 years old, case coil access is on back side of furnace so replacing coil would be difficult due to limited space. Recommended replacing system.” I offered to email a copy of this report, but the rep would not provide an email address to send the report to. He said when I get a copy of our report, it will provide an email address and I can send it to that email. He would also not provide a direct number for supervisor.
I still have not received a copy of the determination report or any detailed information on the repair cost. I don’t understand why they are so secretive and not transparent. On 10/26/2020, a technician from a different company came (2nd opinion) and he diagnosed the same problem. I have not heard anything from AHS about this either. Bottom line, please be aware of this company before you do any business with them. Their customer service is terrible, non-transparent, and they have put in a shield, like their motto, to protect just their interest. They will not do the right thing and just opt for what works for them. In spite of clear recommendation from the technician to replace the system, they just want to replace the coil on a 21 years old system and charge me $1200 for the repair.
Their own website article (https://www.ahs.com/home-matters/repair-maintenance/is-it-time-to-upgrade-your-ac/) states that “The age of your unit is the most important factor in deciding whether or not to replace it. A majority of HVAC technicians recommend replacing your AC if it’s 15 years or older. …“, but they will ignore this to save money and not value a long time customer. I asked the HVAC company about the condition of the compressor and heat exchanger. They said they don’t know if there is any issue with them, and they cannot guarantee that the compressor will work since they cannot test it without the refrigerant.
I am being asked to pay $1200 when there is no guarantee and the other components could go bad in a short period of time. Currently, the R-22 refrigerant cost is $110 per pound and if the compressor does not work or goes bad, all that money (mine and AHS) would be wasted. It has been almost a month and I have not received a call to discuss the issue. When I compared this experience with my regular home insurance company, needless to say it has been a very frustrating and helpless one!
UPDATE: 11/11/2020 I would like to provide an update since I wrote the review on 10/29/2020. AHS posted a response to my review on 10/30 with a standard PR response. I received an email from one of the social media specialists at AHS on 11/03 asking for a good day and time to contact me. I provided the information on 11/04. The specialist called on 11/09. It took almost 10 days to get someone to call me, what a noteworthy and great customer service!
During the call, I went over all the details about the service calls. She listened and then we started conversation about the issue, it was a long conversation. She said that AHS will always try to repair the system irrespective of the age of the HVAC since it could get 3 to 5 more years out of it. When I asked what about the technician’s recommendation? She said they have reported which states that the system can be repaired and the technician cannot override the repair decision. I mentioned to her that the report I have does not say it can be repaired, it recommends replacing the system so it looks like AHS is overriding the technician’s recommendation. She repeated the same thing again that their report states that the system can be repaired and that is what AHS is going to do. I requested her to send me a copy of their report since it did not match with the copy I got from the HVAC company (I had attached the technician’s note on 10/29). She said we cannot send you a copy of this report and cannot give me a reason why. She would also not give a phone number for me to call her back. There is a lack of transparency and customer service when dealing with AHS. My trust meter with AHS has reached bottom so I cannot trust them.
After some back and forth, she said since you are refusing the repair, we can offer you a cash out option. The option will not pay for the entire system. It will only pay what it would cost them to repair the system. She could not tell me the amount. Once again, you have to wait to get an answer. There have been many reviews regarding AHS not reimbursing people after they got the work done. So I am afraid that this is their way to get you off and not pay. I am still waiting to hear back from AHS on the cash out option as well as a call from the second opinion vendor regarding repairing the system. I would highly recommend to not buy a contract from AHS and save your money.

My experience with this company has been awful. I have an electrical panel box that has loose breakers and something burned inside it. I had a friend look at it who is a licensed master electrician and told me to call my home warranty company and they will replace it. I had 2 technicians sent by American Home Shield for 1st and 2nd opinions what was wrong with it. I was told there was water possibly entering from outside but the 3 electricians including my friend who are all licensed master electricians say that's not the case and there's no water entering the box. They won't make any repair because of an exclusion in the contract with water coming inside.
At one point they actually told me the work had been authorized and they were reaching out to the contractor to replace it. I heard nothing from anybody and I had to call them many times to find out what was going on. This took place over 2 months time. Now they flat out refuse to replace it at all even though they had authorized it before. To be fair I was willing to make any repairs (for a problem that there was no evidence of.) And they could replace the panel box, which normally they will do. But doing that was not an option. I couldn't get a third opinion either by my own electrician of my choosing. I was told on the phone my work had been greenlighted at some point and now they won't do anything even after I was told the work was authorized. There's no one to take your dispute or who will listen to you. I do not recommend this home warranty.
Are you still in need of assistance?

The simple math is: $51/monthly Premium + $100deductible per service call = $712 per year (Minimum) + being at the mercy of a fraud company that takes your money without providing a promised service. Today is the 8th day since I’ve placed a service call to unclog a stoppage in the utility room sink and the issue has yet to be resolved. The plumber that showed up couldn’t complete the job because he don’t have the right tools. The plumber is not answering and AHS is refusing to send out another plumber. I’ve wasted an hour each day this week trying to call AHS. Their customer service is incompetent and lazy.
I’ve had to repeat the entire problem over and over again instead of reading their notes and getting on Top of the issue and resolving it. I called regarding my water heater stopped working. I was assigned a business, to come out for the water heater, garbage disposal and a minor stoppage in a guest bathroom. The plumber they selected came out, said I needed a new water heater, and he wasn’t there for the other two items I requested. He said it would take 3-5 days to return and my husband said that wasn’t acceptable. He then said he’d call American Home Shield for a quicker approval, and should get a response in 30 minutes. He left, not leaving any paperwork, never called back, nor did anyone from his business or AHS.
I received an email from American Home Shield that ALL (3) items WAS completed. I called and was on hold for 1 hour and 54 minutes. I was then told that the plumber said 580.00 worth of (none covered) repairs was needed, and they (AHS) would cover the installation and water heater only. I asked for the pay out of the water heater and I would have another plumber come over to evaluate and handle the install.
To my surprise, I was told it could take up to 2 days for them to provide me with the amount they would pay out for a water heater. I explained that this can’t be a first for them and that cost should be readily available to provide. To say the least, I am not confident I will hear from them and will have to call and be subject to a nearly 2 hour hold. This all sounds like a rip off/scam by both AHS and the businesses they contract with. How does a multi million dollar home warranty company not know (for up to 2 days) how much a 40 gallon residential water heater pay out is. I think all of this I have gone through is their attempt to make it so difficult that the consumer gives up. This is SO WRONG.

When the technician came to my home, he didn`t identify the problem and report his company it works well. I've called AHS to change the contractor because looks like they are very unprofessional. AHS rejected it, so I've submitted a follow-up service request for it and asked the contractor to send another technician. New guys seem okay and try to fix the problem. After he checked a few things then he said he need to snake the drain which does not cover by insurance. After that guy come back, I've called another local plumbing company and some guy come to my home and fixed the problem within 20 mins. That was a toilet problem and some root was blocking the toilet. They've charged $150.
I've contacted AHS and ask them to whether refund the service what AHS charge or reimburse the money how much the technician charged because it was a toilet problem and it should cover by insurance, but they rejected both. Whose fault is assigning an unprofessional contractor and why I have to waste time and pay extra money? I want to give them 0 stars if I can give and I never recommend this company to others.

An appliance was making a banging noise every once in a while when it was turning off or on. I figured it might be the condenser going out. I pulled the back off and looked at it. I had just cleaned it a month or so before that so it still looked good. Everything looked good. It was making subtle sounds before but this time, it was like somebody dropped a water bottle from 10 feet up. I called Home Shield to have it looked at and I got a response right away. The tech from Nate's looked at it and he said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. I unplugged it and I let it sit there for about for a couple of days till he got there. When he plugged it back in, everything seemed to be going good.
He said sometimes when the heat goes in and out, it goes to two different sizes of tubes and sometimes that makes noise. The problem was not really a problem, according to him. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Also, he did a good job as far as he had a mask on and all that good stuff. It's been about a week or so since he came out and I haven't heard any noise since then. Paying $100 to have a guy come and tell me everything's good didn't really sit well with me. But it could have been different. And everything worked the way it’s supposed to. I'd tell others to go ahead and give Home Shield a try. 100 bucks is a pretty good deal at least for peace of mind.

We had a couple of contractors come out to work on our sewer line like Legacy 4 Plumbing and Affordable Leak Detection. We live on a slight deep grade down from west to east. We're on the east side and it slopes down. They ran a snake down there with a camera. There's a 90-degree angle there and it's clogged up or cracked. They said that they could only handle the interior of the house and that it was my responsibility to do it on my own from the house to the line where it's plugged up. I was surprised that the guy just said I'd have to do that and it would cost me $350 and he didn't suggest. He just did what he had to do, the toilet's flushing, and he left. I was unhappy with them. But Affordable Leak said they didn't do that outside the house to the sewer system and they recommended a company to do it. But they just didn’t call or let us know they won’t be coming out till this stops. We just got our fingers crossed that the toilets will continue to flush.
We also had our hot water heater go out. The contractor came out and they put a new one in that they ordered from AHS. Then, it stopped a couple days later. They came back out and had to relight the pilot light. We also had a problem with our air conditioning in which it was not draining properly. It was leaking all over and we just put in hardwood floors. The contractor finally came back out and did it again the proper way. But it seems like these people come out and just do a simple little look and don't do any diagnostic suggestions on what to do about it.
Thanks for your loyalty. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. We are working diligently to improve the overall customer experience and we look forward to our continued business together. Have a great day.

We couldn't turn off one of our single-arm faucets in the kitchen. It was dripping. So we contacted American Home Shield and they brought in the Safe Cali Plumbing. They contacted me within the first 20 minutes of me putting in the call and then they were here within the hour and fixed it. They found out that there was a piece missing. The piece had worn down. So he said he was gonna have to come back and reschedule it next week. Then he came back about five minutes later and he said he had time and that he was gonna go to the plumbing store around the corner and see if he could get that part. If it didn't work, then they would need a new faucet for me. He came back and the new part worked. In all of my years of American Home Shield, I have never had this type of experience within an hour and a half of the phone call that it was completely fixed. It was pretty awesome. The tech kinda went above and beyond.
The only thing I don't like with American Home Shield is that I didn't know they had gone up to $100. It's getting really close now to us just calling the provider ourselves for a consultation. So I hope they don't go any higher. I would love it if they went back down a little bit. I'm one of those customers that pays this big upfront fee, but never use them. The rate is getting kind of high at this point to make it really worth it.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

The technician came out ‘cause he was in the area to look at it to get a general idea of what they would have to do. Then he came back two days later with the parts. He got it done within three hours and he did an excellent job. I have homeowners' insurance but American Home Shield is a good backup. But it's a higher deductible which is close to $500. So this covers between the 100 to 500 category. American Home Shield is usually right in there. I just have to put out $100 instead of 500. So it makes it a lot easier.

The furnace needed a repair. American Home Shield gives you a phone number and I called them early in the morning because they have 24/7 access. They handled this very quickly. I called at 8:20 and their message said there was a 10-minute wait, then they were pretty close to the 10-minute wait. So, close to 8:30, I was able to speak to somebody and I told them what the issue was. I had not filed a claim with American Home Shield before, so I wasn't sure how it worked. They told me that it would cost me $75. Then, a company by the name of Platinum Heating & Air Conditioning would call me. But I was more than welcome to call them. And since it was a repair and it wasn't not functioning, they asked for 24 hours for the repair to be done.
So, at 8:40, I got off the phone call and I called Platinum Heating & Air Conditioning. There must be some communication app of sort between American Home Shield and Platinum because they knew who I was. I had happened to be working remotely that day, so they came out that day and assessed the furnace Through the app with American Home Shield, you can see the timeline of what's going on and in my case, they said that they would be out between 3:00 and 5:00 PM. I received a text message at 3:30 that said they were preparing to work on my order, then they were en route and were there a little bit before 3:00. They couldn't repair it that day but they fixed it as best that they could so that we could have heat for at least a couple of days. They also explained some of the issues. Then, it was repaired that Friday. It was very quick and very transparent.
All in all, AHS is worth the $700 to get, especially if some of your appliances are kind of in a crapshoot. We paid it last year but we didn't use it. We paid it this year and got our money's worth out of it. So, it's just that risk that you wish to take. But it was very nice and I would highly recommend it. Especially if you don't have a savings account or something you built up where you can pay cash for these things, that $700 is really nothing. I had a friend that had an air conditioning issue during the height of summer here in the desert. She said she couldn't believe that they fixed it and it was only $75. It broke again and they fixed it again. Then, the third time, they replaced it.

It was all installed within 24 hours total. They're excellent people. They're a big company and very popular in my hometown. I've told my other friends about American Home Shield. I even put them on Facebook just the other day about how good they were.

American Home Shield was good. When I had a pool pump that was going out, I went to the website, filled out the dropdowns and typed in the description of what was going on. There were a lot of bad reviews on the contractor that was selected so I was hesitant when the coordinator of the contractor called. I mentioned those poor reviews and asked if this was gonna be a problem. She indicated that was not and she proved that it wasn't.
However, they did take longer than it absolutely should. It took like a month for something that really should have been done in just a day or two. They had to order a pump. But, prior to doing the home warranty, I had gone down to my local pool supplies center and that was when I remembered that I had the warranty. This is a very common pump. They had this pump in stock. They had a ton of them. There was a lot of them around. Why it took a month? I don't know that I’ll fully understand or maybe I'm not supposed to understand it. It wasn't something that they had to order from Germany. It was right in town so that was weird. But despite how long it took, at the end of the day, they did what they said they were gonna do. It was a decent experience.

It has been a month since I've had American Home Shield and I've had them just in time. Two days after they took the payment out, the refrigerator went out. The claims submission was quite easy. I made a simple call and the next day, the repair company called me. The technicians were excellent. But the ordering of the part was a bit slow. But when he came out and fixed it, it was very satisfactory. The refrigerator was very good again. A question came up over the weekend and the company was closed on the weekend. They don't have any emergency contact. So, I would never go to that company again independently for repairs because I’d be out of luck if I would need them and it was not during the week.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I had two refrigerators and my furnace all go at the same time. The refrigerator guy didn't call me before he came. He just kind of showed up and I thought he was supposed to call. He was very nice but having a phone call half an hour before he came would have been good. If you’re out and about, you can run home. The first refrigerator seems to be okay. He just finished the second one yesterday. It’s making a little bit of a noise but I don't know if it's a refrigerator noise or the noise of something that is hitting something and vibrating. But the main thing was for the water to come out of the machine and that seems to be working now.
The furnace guy did call half an hour before he came. He’s come three times. We had a leak and he changed the tubing. But we were having a funny noise so he came back and fixed that. Then the leak started up again so he came back and ended up having to replace the whole mechanism of the condensation thing. So far, so good.
Sometimes, it’s a pain ‘cause you have to have people come out so many times to try to fix something. If they really can’t fix it, they replace it. That takes time to have them come so you’re going without your appliance for so long or you keep having problems and keep having to call them back. I had a washer and dryer that they were trying to fix and the problem would not go away. They replaced every part on it that they possibly can but we still had a problem and I don't know what that problem was. My washer and dryer happened to go at the same time and both of them couldn't be fixed so they replaced both of them.
The only problem I have with American Home Shield is that sometimes it takes a long time to get somebody on the phone. Other than that, the process seems to be okay. If you've got a lot of appliances and because appliances are not made to last very long anymore, I would definitely do American Home Shield. I just told somebody about them yesterday.

We had a claim for the dishwasher and the washing machine. We had both problems. The washing machine has been fixed numerous times. This time, it was okay with AHS. But there had been a time in the past that it was hot outside and they couldn't get anybody out here to fix the air. So, I've been with them for a few years, and I've had a few problems, but that was the worst problem. They would schedule the contractors, these people just wouldn't ever come, because they said that they weren't getting paid, so they didn't wanna come out. I said, “Well, that’s fine.” But AHS took care of it, though and sent someone out, but it was a while.
We've used AHS several times and we've had them for 11 years. They keep going up on us. But for the most part, they are okay. However, I can't understand half of what the people are saying when I call my claims in. That's an issue for me cause I'm old and I can't hear that well, so I really can't understand what they're saying. So, I submit my claims online.
After three times of something being broke, AHS needs to prepare to buy a new one. They lack in that department. I spend $100 four different times for them to work on the washer, ‘cause I had to pay a fee. It just doesn't seem right to me that I have to pay so much to get it workable, and then it tears up again six months later, and then they keep re-fixing it and re-fixing, sometimes, the same problem over and over. I had a hot water heater once, and they didn't disclose that it was gonna cost more money besides the fee that I had to pay upfront. If I could change with someone that I knew was legit and had been around a while, I probably would switch. But I don't know anybody.

American Home Shield was very efficient. I put in a request online and they responded right away with the person that was gonna come. The day of, they gave me his name and sent a picture. That was lovely. After I got the email, the gentleman came about an hour later which was the time estimate. They said he’d be here between 11:00 and 3:00 and he came around 12. He was very good and very efficient. He put on his little walk around the house slippers. He checked out the situation with the running toilets, said what he was gonna do, did it and left. He corrected the issue and I don’t think he was here an hour. It was a very nice experience. I'd recommend American Home Shield. They handled the situation and it was cost effective. We had that issue in the past and it cost a heck of a lot more money.

I had water that was coming up out of the sewer hole in my laundry room. Water was coming up, like if I take a shower. When the tech came, he explained how the process was and he gave me the what-ifs. The only thing I didn’t like is that do the regular process first, and if that doesn’t work, then you can show me that it could be possibly X, Y, and Z. But don’t come telling me that something’s gonna cost me $3,000 for something that you didn't even try to do what you’re originally supposed to do.
When the contractor told me something, I called my dad and told the rep that I got somebody that he could talk to that was gonna understand what language he was speaking because he ain’t making no sense to me. So when my dad got on the phone, the tech explained it completely different. My dad asked if he tried to rod it first. He said, “No, I’m gonna do it. I just wanted to tell her the what-ifs if it doesn’t work or whatever.” I told him that he should at least try that first before he say if it doesn't work since that's gonna make me think like he was trying to take money from me versus doing what he was supposed to be doing.
After I got my dad on the line, it was a different conversation. The tech did what he was supposed to do and it worked. So what he was talking about in between that to get the $3,000 wasn't required. Then he stated that if he had to come back another date to do something else, then it was gonna cost me about $400, and that would have been outside of the $125 I was to pay for my fee, which American Home Shield wasn't gonna cover. It was a lot.
When I call American Home Shield when I have an issue, they get right on it. They send somebody out here. But they can't speak for the contractors and how they respond. They can only go off what the customer tells them and then they can reevaluate, like if that's a company that they want to have representing them. All the times that I had to call them all out here, the guys have been really amazing. But I’ve never had no one try to get additional money out of me outside of what the fee was supposed to be. Everything else was fine.
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I had a claim for my washing machine. At first, the Sears repairman came out and looked at it. But it was beyond what he could do. Then, Appliance 911 came and they made three visits. They realized that there was nothing to be done and they put in an order for a replacement. I got information back very quickly on it and I'm still waiting for the new washer to be delivered tomorrow. Overall, I was well-pleased with the way that my claim was handled, particularly the guys that worked with Appliance 911 repair service.
Other than that, I have the AHS app and when I go to the page, it's hard for me to track the the process or progress of the repairs. Once I submit a claim and it is assigned to a service person, I'd like to be able to go in and look to see where they are on it without having to call. This last claim took an extremely long time. I had four items that I needed them to look at and I filed my first claim on September 10th. But only one was completely finished, as of this past Monday. Hopefully, tomorrow the second one will be finished. And there are two that I still haven't found direct information as to how they're going to handle them. So it's been a very slow process and I have no way of tracking without calling them. It seems like I've been calling every week just to find out what the updates are and where they are on the repair for the other two items. But that's not always true. It's just with these items and the length of time has been disappointing.
But it's not like it's American Home Shield that I'm not satisfied with. This experience has been with the technicians and their timing. Each time I have reached out to American Home Shield, they have pretty much given me answers. For the first order, the part was on backorder and it took almost six weeks for it to come in. So there was a long delay for my air conditioner heating unit that I waited for. The oven was another claim and I still haven't gotten it resolved yet on whether it’s going to be repaired or replaced. But that one was also filed on September 10th and American Home Shield immediately assigned it to a company to work on. So it's within the company. They're not acting as quickly as I expected them to.

I had a clogged main drain pipe. I had worked on it for weeks. I couldn't figure it out. Time for a professional to step in. The contractors that AHS sent came out, pulled the plug on the mainline. They back snaked it, cleaned it all out and got it going again. My only complaint with AHS is that stupid call center they use. I hate talking to those people 'cause they don't know anything. They read off of a script and they don't understand very well. They don't understand English phrases. There's definitely a communication breakdown.
It's like when I call to get an answer to a question, these people just read the same thing over and over. Because it's like, "This is what happened." I was like, "I'm telling you, that's not what has happened." So I need to get an answer to a question and it just goes back to the scripture. Then I just end up hanging up the phone and think about quitting. But the contractors have been 100% professional. They walked me through the whole step verbally from a distance, 'cause of the whole COVID thing. I went down afterwards. There weren't even drops of water on the floor. So whatever they did, they kept it very contained, very clean and it was very appreciated on my end.

But he was very nice and very helpful. In the beginning, it was awful with AHS. I had called AHS because we were having a problem with our refrigerator and stove. They said I wasn't in the system. I was like, "I know that my home came with the warranty." But what happened was the person that put in the information put in the wrong address. Then I finally got through to someone in retention and he corrected it.
But then when I was calling back to try to speak with someone, I was on hold for a long time, at least an hour trying to get to someone. Then the gentleman came out on the site and looked at the stove. It needed to be replaced. He didn't look at the refrigerator. So, I thought that he did. When I bought a refrigerator from Craigslist, it was in pretty good shape. But within about a week or so, it had stopped cooling down and made all kinds of crazy noises. It had basically stopped functioning, for the most part. I called around to a bunch of other appliance stores. But the refrigerator model that I bought was too foreign for them and they didn't work on that type. Also, it was too much of an odd size. But I needed to have this one because the previous owners cut the length of the tile so only a certain fridge could fit in there. I had to keep it so it was very important to have it fixed.
A tech with Active Appliance came and he was great. He was very polite. He didn't say too much because he spoke Russian but I kinda got what he was asking from me and what I could do to help him. If there was ever an issue, we got on our phones and we translated to one another. The translate app was really helpful. There was a lot to get in and the second time the tech came, he was able to get in on his own. That was kind of a resourceful thing that I appreciated. I don't get good service here so I was glad he was able to make his way in here.
He didn't take too long. He worked quietly and in the end, he gave me a very short but a concrete list of instructions for when he would come back. He was basically saying, "Do X, Y, and Z. And defrost 24 hours before I come back." By the time he came back, he had the right piece. He found the broken piece and put in the new piece that was gonna fix the fridge. Since then, it's been great.
90% of my interaction was with that one handyman that American Home Shield sent out. But as far as their support staff that helps out after 5:00 PM business time, they could be a bit tricky to work with. Some things can get lost in translation because they're Indian or Pakistani. But it's a very small thing. Originally, I had set up for one operator that wasn't gonna be able to help for a month and a half. I had to work with a girl to get in contact with that operator, to find out that it was gonna take a month and a half to cancel that then get resigned up with somebody else. It was a bit difficult to work with her because of the language gap. But eventually, she got it fixed and she found the right guy.
What I was previously gonna have to do was hire somebody to remove the refrigerator then go find a refrigerator that can fit in the space through a variety of different vendors, which was not gonna be easy. And while doing all of that, I would not have a refrigerator. Having Active Appliance come out here, fix the refrigerator, and be in and out, was such a huge lifesaver.

They were here for probably an hour and a half. We have no issues so far and it’s great. But my experiences with American Home Shield have not been too good. Even though I called them about the plumbing because it is expensive. And I have the service that my Realtor paid for, so I should be able to use it. But the warranty company is not good. I don't like that it takes you so long to get somebody on the line.
I've had to call them a couple of times about the air conditioning. The guy from the first company they gave me never called me nor responded to my messages or text. So, I called AHS and told them that. They gave me somebody else who was supposed to show up at a certain time but they didn’t come until later. They came at the very last minute of the day. It was at 7 o'clock at night and when they came, they were in a rush. They were not prepared and didn’t have any tools with them. They said what they thought it was and told me to try something, and to call them if I had a problem. We knew what they said wasn't right. So, I never called back but I called American Home Shield. I told them I wanted my $75 back because the contractor didn't do anything. I got my money back but it took about 20 days.
The issue on the air conditioning is still not resolved. I didn't call anybody else. AHS doesn’t give you a choice who you get and I like to look up the companies before I agree to one. Everybody that they have in their list are not around here. I have talked to other people who have the service as well and they have the same problems. I’m not gonna say that the companies that work with them are second grade. The guys who came out here cleaned up and I was happy with them. But who they send you or who they give you to pick from are not even around here. I'm in Hanover and the contractor was probably an hour away. I asked to speak to management a couple of times and they told me somebody will call me. No one ever did. My warranty is up with AHS in January but I wouldn't renew it.

Then they told me that there's no cleanout and it's not covered which I don't know that there isn’t. It was also outside the foundation. I'm a little aggravated. If it had been a stopped up drain, it wouldn't be a big deal. But it's a little more than that so I feel like it's kind of misleading. I provided the house I sold an American Home Shield policy but that was because the buyers see it as a plus. Also, I wish American Home Shield wouldn't cover the bottom of the barrel. If they’re gonna replace my Explorer with a 2-door Pinto, it’s not quite the same. I’m not asking them to replace a Mercedes with a higher Mercedes, but when they're already middle of the road, they should at least cover the middle of the road stuff. But getting American Home Shield is a good idea as long as you know what you’re getting into.

I submitted multiple claims in the past with AHS. When I submit a claim, I go into the American Home Shield site and then my account comes up. Then I will pick what is it that I need to get done. Then I'll pay my deductible. Then they'll let me know which company is gonna contact me and within a 24-hour period, somebody from that company is gonna contact me to let me know when's the next availability that somebody will be able to come out. That person will give me a call, like a half-hour before they're gonna arrive and they'll text me too. So I like that. Then this person recently came and he was able to look at the previous fan that I have and was like, "This is not gonna make it for you." So he was able to replace it with a new fan. I was like, "Great." I was happy.
The person that came was on time. For the COVID thing, they put on plastic shoes. He had on his mask. So that way, we were all covered. 'Cause I also had kids in here at the time. He was very professional. I liked he was like, "You know it's not gonna be the same color as the fan. And you may need to pay a little bit." Because the fan that I had originally was a little bit bigger. So I was like, "That's fine. I'm not worried about that." I'm just glad that it was replaced.

We are now completed with the job. However, this goes back to the end of August when we first put in the call. Weeks went by and we hadn't heard anything. I understand it’s difficult getting parts, but I tried calling American Home Shield many times and their representatives were absolutely horrible. They made one excuse after another. It went on endlessly. I tried to speak with someone who, perhaps, could help me and I got hung up on a number of times. It reached a point where my peak of anger was not anything like I generally behave.
I took it upon myself a week and a half ago to call once again the place that was going to do the fixing. I had been in touch with them before, and they were getting a runaround from American Home Shield as well. The guy from the place in Denville, New Jersey was wonderful and very sympathetic. On my last call to him, he said that whatever it took, he would get the part. Two days later, we had the part and everything that we needed to be fixed was fixed, but it shouldn't have been an experience like this at all. It was mostly the reps that were so terrible.
Aside from being terrible, many of them spoke English poorly, and it was very difficult to communicate with them. I am not one who is prejudiced, but this was awful. I was so livid I shared it online. I really considered dropping American Home Shield all together. I made a lot of calls to other companies, but I haven't done anything yet. I'm still in the process of thinking. I asked for the opinion of the guy who's in charge of the place that helped me. Even though this experience was horrible, both on his side and mine, he said that he still thought they were the better choice and to think hard about it.
Thank you for reaching out to us to provide your feedback and experience. It's very straightforward to put a claim in. I go to the website and it takes maybe 30 seconds. It's very user-friendly. Recently, my dryer was not working. The timer was messed up and we could not dry clothes. The contractor that was sent was on time and professional. My kids were here and they were fine around walking past kids. They got right to work and fixed the problem very quickly. It was a good experience.

We recently had a leak from one of our drain pipes. I alerted Home Shield online on my account page. It was pretty easy. They told me to expect a call within 24 hours and it was within that time period that the contractor contacted me. Marty from Moore Plumbing came out and he was awesome. He was one of the best servicemen that has come to our house from Home Shield. He fixed both the problems that we had. We also had a faucet problem with a separate drain in the faucet and he fixed them both. The repair saved our home from having water damage and different things, and it made it so I could wash my dishes and not have to worry. Home Shield has been great. They have fixed all our claims that we have set and we're super happy with them.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim. I was told that the contractor would contact us, or I should contact them if they don't reach out to us in a timely manner. The contractor came to fix the oven door, and they had to replace the hinges. The only issue that would have been better handled by both parties is that when he was done installing the oven door, he seemed to move out of their house pretty quickly. I was on a conference call, and I'm pretty sure my husband was as well. And unfortunately, my husband is not the right person to go over an oven door with because he never uses an oven door. So, it was after a few days afterwards that I started to do some cooking that I realized it doesn't seem like the door was closing 100%. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to talk to the technician after the installation, have him walk me through what he did and to check it with him.
I did call the contractor back. The oven’s working. We're able to use the oven. I called them and said, "Hey, this just doesn't feel like it's really closing all the way.” They said, “Just call American Home Shield, and then they'll submit a request to us, and then we'll send someone out.” The old oven door used to just close a lot more snugly. With this one, the light turns off and when you turn the heat on, you don't really feel heat around the door. Even my 12-year-old son's like, “No, that door is not closed all the way.” It just seems like it's not exactly where it should be. Other than that, our experience is usually very positive with American Home Shield. There's just a little longer call wait times with everything going on, but we've been very satisfied with them.

Everything was perfect when the contractor came out for our plumbing issue. We had a clog that he had to get out. We love American Home Shield. We tell everyone to get it. They’ve all been awesome every time we needed them. With our air conditioner, we had a clog right after we first bought the house and they fixed that. I love the submission process, it's online. I don't have to make a phone call. It’s so easy. Everyone they sent out has been great too. We've never had any bad experience, thankfully with AHS.

Right now, we've had issues, not so much with the American Home Shield, but mainly with the contractors they keep sending out. My most recent claim was for a stovetop. The claim submittal is easy. You just go on the app or the website and then just request a service. They schedule with whoever's available and they call to schedule an appointment. So far, everyone who's been scheduled has been on time or a little early, and they just come see the problem. The main issue I’ve had with the whole process is sometimes they hire companies and contractors that say something to us, but then they report something different to American Home Shield.
That's where I'm in the process with American Home Shield because the contractor just told me they're gonna submit a request for replacement product. Then they reported something different to American Home Shield saying that it was caused by oil like we would then take care of it, but that was not what they told us it was. That's not an issue as well because we have been taking care of our stovetop. We've had it cleaned several times, but the product needs to be replaced. So, we're kind of in the middle of trying to get that fixed.

Sometimes, it's a long wait to submit a claim with AHS. But other than that, there were no real difficulties in calling them. But they should add some other providers. They have a small limited amount of providers that they use regularly. Recently, the contractors that came out for our heating issue said some water was getting stuck in one of the pockets and they cleaned it out. It was fine.

My first experience with American Home Shield was a little rough. It was a little bit more arduous process. I had a washer that wasn't working. The guy fixed the problem, supposedly, but it wasn't fixed. I was not happy with the way that that gentleman handled it so American Home Shield gave me another reference. That gentleman was super awesome and finally fixed my problem. To be without a clothes washer for a couple days is fine but it was like three weeks by the time it finally got taken care of. It was way too long. But this one with the gearshift in the garage motor that needed to be replaced was seamless. The gentlemen from Cactus Overhead Door Company was on time. Everything was good. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He's coming back again tomorrow to fix something else on the garage door.

Three years ago, I left Home Shield for a bit because they wouldn't fix a microwave. They said it wasn't broken. I said, "Well, it doesn't work," and they made it makeshift. I wasn't happy with that, so I stopped for a while. But then, I looked out there and there wasn't much anything else and I tried. I was without it for about a year and I said, "Well, I need to swallow it and go ahead and get the American Home Shield back." I did, and since then, I haven't had any problems.
American Home Shield offered a deal to do preventive maintenance for the heater, and they just discovered that in the heater, they said it was real low voltage. The tech said, "I don't have to change it, but I'll probably be back in a week. As soon as you turn on the heater, it's gonna go." He turned on the heater and he said that it's even lower. So they replaced it, cleaned it up, checked the filters, and done, they were gone. They were COVID-protected, came in, came out, and done. The tech was quick, didn't waste time and didn't need to talk to me a lot and just did what he needed to do.
I pay 600 a year. It would have cost me $300 on the air conditioner. Also, they were coming out for the garage door, but they don't do the railing, so I fixed it myself. I cancelled that one. Then they came out for a bathroom leak and the $100 was about the same exact amount of money that if I went to Home Depot and done it myself. I had them come out and double-check everything. So, it worked. But this last thing they had, and I saw that it was a pre-maintenance, which is smart on Home Shield's part because when air conditioners and heaters go out, they could be charged a lot of money for it. I've had three houses with them and I had rentals also with them, so it was well worth it.
Good afternoon David,

I went online and American Home Shield had a pop up that suggested that you could get a free seasonal heating request. And so, I clicked on that. They very promptly got back to me with a call and a text message from the company that was gonna come out and do the work. We scheduled the date and then, they came out and did their request. It was great. The inspector showed me how the filter system works. He gave me the heads up that it's an older system, so to be prepared, which was the same thing the inspector said when I bought the house. But it’s in working order. I recommend American Home Shield. It is a good service to have. It was recommended to me and based on that first experience, it's a good value.

The air conditioner stopped working. I had the AC on 76 and it never cooled below 80. It got up to about 85 in the house. So, I called American Home Shield and Royal Flush came out. Everything went fine. The technician checked in the attic and then he checked outside. When he checked outside, he determined that the motor was not working. So, it was broken. Once he did that, he also discovered that the fans weren’t working. But interestingly, before that, it was working earlier in the summer. So, on the first day, he replaced the motor. But he didn't have the fans. So he had to come back the second day to replace the fans on the outside unit. Then the AC worked. The technician was friendly and professional. He was really good about contacting me as to when he was gonna have the parts and when he was gonna be able to come back.
A lot of people telling me that American Home Shield is one of the best ones. I got it because I thought it was gonna cover things for a 40-year-old house. But there are so many exceptions. So, if you have something you think is covered and then, you call and they'll say that they don't cover that part. But they do respond when I call them and have an emergency.

Jeremy from K & S Plumbing came out and the problem was an easy fix. There was just some hair in the sink. The service is pretty good. I had an issue with a previous service. But once the contract was explained about what's covered and what's not covered, then I felt better about it. American Home Shield could do better on their communication.
The process of submitting a claim for service was easy enough. The issue that I had that wasn't clarified was I didn't know that in one of my bedrooms, the air wasn't coming out of the vent. The rest of the house, the air flows perfectly. So, on the computer, when you're selecting what's wrong, I don't know what's wrong. I just know there's no air coming out. So, I said air conditioning or something to that effect. Then, it doesn't let you do ductwork if you do air conditioning. It won't let you click on that. A gentleman came. He said it wasn't the ductwork. But it has to be the ductwork because everything else is flowing.
If I was able to select that, then I would be fine with the way that service was closed out. Because I wasn't satisfied with that. Someone said they would call me back. They said they would do a follow-up, but they never did. When I called back the other day, they said I waited too late. But I was giving them time to do whatever they needed to do. I thought maybe they forgot about me. When I called back, they said it was too late, so I would have to pay another $100. Other than that, my experience with American Home Shield has been fine.

Family Heating & Cooling came out recently. They were working on our central air unit. Their first guy didn't do the job right. Then the owner came out the second time and he stated that the job wasn't done right. He saw what was done and he corrected it. The third time, they came for a service appointment. He replaced a part, which had cracked, and now I have a leak, in which I'm very frustrated because when I called, they're telling me I have to pay another $100 of which I'm not paying because it's unfair. I feel like that every time that same gentleman comes, I saw the job isn't done right and we have to call back again for something to be done again. I do not want him to come back.
I also have frustration in calling every time. It's trying to get the reps to understand what I'm saying, me understanding what they're saying, a lot of back and forth.
