I had a good experience with Weatherwise. They came out and fixed the issue the same day I made a claim online. They were great, but sometimes, the quality of American Home Shield's contractors is not very good. They'll come out, and they won’t fix the problem. I had a problem with my AC two years ago, and American Home Shield ended up having to send out a different contractor who was able to find the problem and fix it. I've had them for four years and I like that they fix the problem instead of just telling me to get a brand-new appliance. Prior to American Home Shield, I had a problem with an air conditioner, and I ended up having to replace the entire air conditioner. If I had them, they would’ve fixed whatever was broken, and I wouldn’t have had to buy a whole new unit.
We do apologize for the experience you have had, however we are pleased to know the HVAC issue was resolved. Thanks for providing your feedback. We strive to make sure all issues whether contractual or service related are handled.

The city was telling us that we had water running and we could not figure out where it was. I called American Home Shield on the phone, and I went through a prompt. Then I called the next morning to verify because the prompt did not hear my voice and put the wrong problem into the system. I knew it went, but you cannot correct the prompt. It said, “Oh, okay. It is a clog. Okay. So, next.” And then they asked me another question. Like, “No, it is not a clog. It is a leak!”
The contractor Prime Plumbing Services had been out there before for a similar situation and that was why we were glad they were being sent out. We like them. Our house sitter was there when they came out, and we advised them to look at all the toilets. Sure enough, one of them had the same challenge. It was something that had broken before in a three-year-old toilet. So, the guy said that that one was gone too. So, that had been leaking for four days. My problem was that it took four days to get somebody out there and five phone calls. So, I do not know what my bill is gonna be. Even the city said, “Please send us your receipt of what you paid for somebody to come out.” And even though we were giving our $75 prepay on the phone when we made the call-in, we never got a copy of that invoice sent to us. They should be sending it to us via email.
I have emailed you in regards to this post. I am reaching out to see if there is still assistance needed?

I love American Home Shield. Their claims process is painless and you can do it online without having to talk to anybody. You can easily tell them what you want and someone will get with you within the next 24 to 72 hours. It’s pretty quick. Recently, I had a plumbing issue and my experience went well. They assigned Wayne Hyde Plumbing to my claim and they immediately solved the problem. My interaction with the techs was also good. When they got there, they came in and asked me to show them the problem. After I did, they went in there and looked at it. They put some little thing, blew some air somewhere, reran the water thing, and it was quick.
Good afternoon Torry,
Thank you for sharing your recent experience with AHS. We are happy that we were able to get the issue resolved for you. Our goal is to pair you with the best contractor that will provide a quick and final resolution. We look forward to our continued business together. Enjoy your day.

I have a water issue that I'm still waiting to get fixed. Because of the holidays, American Home Shield finally ordered the water heater, and then Plumbers Inc was able to go pick it up. But they’re so busy that they’re not able to come in and replace the water heater until January 8 -- there is this long delay of days of getting this thing taken care of. Maybe they could speed things up a little bit to get things approved. What happens is that when the contractor comes over, they take pictures of the whatever needs to be fixed, and then they send it off to AHS. Then they go through their authorization department area, which takes a couple of days. And I’m like, “Okay, well what about the consumer who’s got a problem that needs to be fixed right away?” That, to me, seems a little lackadaisical on their part.
We do apologize for the water heater issue. My name is Robert and I will be in contact with you for a resolution.

I needed to have a running toilet fixed and a garbage disposal replaced. American Home Shield sent Super Plumbers out. They also replaced my faucet in the sink in the kitchen because it was doing a weird thing where the pressure was extremely high. There was no high pressure in the house, so it was a faulty mechanism inside the faucet itself. And no matter what kinda nozzle you put on the end of it, it goes everywhere. So, they switched that out. I like the job done.
I do my claims online with AHS. As soon as you submit the claim, it automatically assigns a plumbing company to you. So, as soon as you hit okay, you already know who’s coming to the house, and you just wait for them to call you. The contractors are usually pretty good. I had a couple of AC guys show up before where they didn’t look too professional, but they still got the job done. Also, the appliance guys showed up in a minivan. It didn’t look too professional, but they still got the job done. Overall, my experience with AHS is always great. They always take care of me so I never had any issues.

We bought the home in May and we were given the dollar amount for the home warranty, which steered us towards the package we bought from American Home Shield. My husband chose them based on the services provided and everything that was covered. I woke up one day and the heating wouldn't turn on. I made the claim online and I love the process because I don’t like talking to people. Everything was right there. All the options were easy to go through and it's all on one screen.
The contractor called me within the 24 hours, just like it said, and made a schedule to come. Then, they called me the day before to give me a window as well as when they were on their way. They were fantastic and it was perfect. Everything was great and the rep who came out was very friendly. We have a thermostat downstairs and another one upstairs, and he would run between everywhere. He had to go up in the attic and he needed to go outside, and he was super quick on his feet. So, that was cool to see.

In the claim for my oven, Superior Appliance called me and we set up an appointment. I met them out at my house after a day or two, so it was very quick and they didn’t take long to come out. They checked out my oven and told me what was wrong. They were really nice people and very mannered. I'm supposed to be getting a new oven as a replacement and J.B. Hunt was supposed to deliver it, but I have not got a response from them yet. So, I do not have the appliance yet.
American Home Shield was recommended by a friend, and I've been with them for only a couple of months so far. The service by the representatives has been very good. I've talked to 2 or 3 people, and they’ve always been very polite. They're the ones who gave me all the information about J.B. Hunt making the delivery, and then the people that was gonna do it. And then, they called me and I'm just supposed to let them know when I get Mr. Appliance of East Texas here.

Earlier this year, I signed 5 contracts with American Home Shield. My recent one was for a plumbing issue. They sent an incompetent vendor that cut my wall, left and never came back. After 2 weeks of going back and forth, they sent me another vendor who told me, "We need mitigation and DO YOU HAVE GOOD INSURANCE? I need to contact our mitigation which will take care of all the work for you." Total scam. I called my plumber, 3 hours later including re-patching the wall, all was done. I will be cancelling all my 5 policies, but I have to wait for 1 year unfortunately. DO NOT USE THEM. Save your money, it's NOT worth it.

AHS used to have decent customer service. Not great, but bearable. My last two engagements have been awful. The most recent was for repair of a microwave. They told us they would have to replace it due to cost of repair, and that if we selected a replacement that they recommended, that they would install it. two months later, microwave was still in a box in our living room. Finally, after spending at least 5 hours on hold time, I gave up. AHS rep told me that if I installed it they would reimburse me $125. So I did. Now they tell me they won't reimburse me because I am not insured and licensed. What I am is supremely irritated. I would rather buy appliances at full retail price than deal with AHS again. It's torture.

I bought the warranty service due to older systems. First time I had a problem, I called and paid for the 100 service automatically with no human interaction. Didn’t know what was happening but was given a company. I tried several times to contact the selected provider and after 1.5 days, I talked to the provider. It’s now been three days since I requested service and will finally get my heat fixed (20 degrees out/58 in my house) tomorrow only because I paid another $68 to expedite the part. AHS DOESN'T CARE OR PAY FOR EXPEDITED PARTS. If I didn’t pay, I would be waiting for up to 5 days to get the part. When I called to complain, found out the call center is in the PHILIPPINES.
Stay far away. My investment so far is $668 to get a $35 part for my furnace. Also, found out that the quoted price for a special upgrade to a new furnace was only going to cost me $5500. I found out that AHS limits furnace replacement to 1500 and only after it can’t possibly be fixed. Fraudulent claims all over their website, doesn’t relieve financial stress, causes it. BE WARNED.
William,

Had a water leak the stemmed from a shower. Paid the $125 for the shower only to be told the ceiling damage is not covered. Had to go through home owners insurance anyway. Could have paid one deductible instead of 2. Also, the issue was supposed to be high priority seeing that there was only 1 working shower and someone would respond in 4 hours. Had to wait 2 days for a call, and another 2 for them to come. End of the day, if it is a simple break\fix this is a good thing, but if it involves anything more you will be paying someone else to complete the job. Customer service was also rude and demeaning, with total lack of empathy for the experience.

We reached out to AHS because we had an issue with our ice maker not dispensing ice as well as the front display was not working. We had an appointment scheduled with Runyon Electric. The repair company Runyon Electric, did not call prior to the appointment to ask any questions about our service request. The technician arrives, assesses the issue and informs us that he doesn’t have any parts to fix the issue. He said it would take 3-5 days for the parts to come in. After 5 days I called and they told me that yes the part came in and the first available appointment was not for another week.
The technician shows up, adds the parts and tells me the refrigerator is fixed. I said, "It is dispensing ice?" He said, "Yes it is a new ice maker." Well, how would he know if it is dispensing ice if there is no ice in the reservoir? Well, he leaves and of course as was before the refrigerator is making ice but not dispensing ice. I call back and they schedule another appointment for a week later. I ask if they can ensure the technician shows up with the part to dispense ice. They tell us he has to come and diagnose the issue and then reach back to American Home Shield for approval and then come back to fix the refrigerator.
I have called American Home Shield 3 times today. Two of the three calls were disconnected midway into the call. I am assuming because the call center is another country which makes the connection terrible. The last call the AHS representative called Runyon and said oh they are coming to assess the issue and will call American Home to tell us what is wrong. Seriously, nothing different than what I said when I called. I requested a manager was placed on hold for 10 minutes or so and you guessed it, the call was disconnected. Terrible customer service and I am still waiting almost one and half months later.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

In July 2019 our AC developed problems and American Home Shield was contacted, since AC unit is covered under our warranty. What followed was a one month long ordeal trying to get the unit repaired. They contracted with Standlee Heating and AC, and this company eventually came out but despite repeated efforts, they were not able to fix the problem. They put a new circuit board in, which it ended up was the wrong circuit board for the unit. This led to the heater sparking and stopping working several months later. The only way I was able to get the AC or the heater fixed was to go with another vendor.
When I told Home Shield I would need to go elsewhere, they said I could do so, but later I found out there are proper protocols to follow, and because I did not get "authorization" to go with another vendor, they refused to reimburse for any expenses we incurred. AHS is a big company who does not care about trying to work with or serve people, and we will never work with them again. Every effort to communicate our case was met with flat denial. I heartily recommend any who are interested choose a different home warranty company. Although we've been with AHS for 8 years, we will break ties and suggest others do the same. They are a company who uses loopholes and poor business practices to bleed the consumer. Extremely disappointing.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. I will follow up with you as soon as possible in an effort to assist with unresolved issues. I just sent you an email. Thanks for your patience.

Water Wise Plumbing did a good job. The previous company, Air Pro Master, didn’t have tools to shut down the water. All the plumbers have what they call the diamond head tool to shut the water down. But for 35 days, Air Pro went back-and-forth saying, “We don’t have the tools. We have to shut down the whole city to change this valve.” They don’t know how to do the job. They wasted 35 days of our time, and my tenant had no washer for 35 days. That was not good. But Water Wise had the tool. They came and shut off the water and changed the valves. They did the job in half an hour or so. Don’t use Air Pro for plumbing. They are not plumbers. For plumbing job, you should use the real plumbers like Water Wise. I call and speak with somebody when I submit claims, and American Home Shield's customer service is good. May Heating & Cooling came out to put in a new furnace. The thing that I didn't understand, however, was why I had to pay so much when AHS was supposed to pay for it. Nevertheless, the contractor who came seemed good, but he kind of rushed me into it. I ended up paying $1,500 and that was high. They said it’s a $3,200 retail, but I had a man in here from CoolRay. They were going to put me one in for 2,000 and that was without the warranty, and then I would only add 500. So, I kind of got ripped off.
I started with American Home Shield years and years ago. When I moved over to North Augusta, I wanted to transfer. That was when AHS first came out. They dropped me on my double-wide because it was getting too costly. So, then I wanted to get the coverage on my home and they wanted 300 and some dollars to start the coverage, and so I said, "No," and went with TotalProtect. But then I came back to American Home Shield. Overall, they have fixed my refrigerator and others.

My dishwasher claim got complicated because it seemed like the first two technicians from Jeffrey’s Appliance that came really didn’t seem to have a complete knowledge of what they were there for. So we had three visits. They finally figured out that it was a heat pump that caused two other problems in the dishwasher. The third guy figured it out and helped us.
Jeffrey’s Appliance is local here to us, and they have a very good reputation. Everyone was professional. The first two people that came were awfully nice, very polite and very respectful, but they didn’t seem to have the knowledge that they needed to make everything happen. They didn’t go far enough in. But when we got the third guy, he was perfect. He was very well-schooled on how far back he needed to go into the guts of the machine. It was a little frustrating because I had been without my dishwasher for quite a while, but I am so glad that we have American Home Shield. I had to call American Home Shield because they were trying to charge me twice for this whole episode. But the final result was perfect.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback, We are glad that the issue you had with the appliance has come to a resolve. We hope that all future issues are handled as well in the same manner.

F6 Plumbing came and installed our water heater a couple of months ago when the old one went out. We had to pay for all the updates on the codes which cost over $1,000 plus the $75 for the call that they charged us. Then, the new water heater was set at hot, but it was not heating all through our house and we had to turn the temperature up a little bit. But it works fine now.
The next thing that went out was the toilet in the hall bathroom. It was starting to leak, so we called AHS and the tech came out. He had to go buy a part for it then he came back and put it in. But he didn't realize that in one part, the overflow was too high. So, it overflowed after we flushed it a few times, but not when he was here. The water started coming out from the handle and my son, who was very astute, noticed that. The tech should have seen that the tube was too high for our toilet and he could have done some extra tweaking to ensure that it was working well. We had to call the contractor back but it was over Thanksgiving and they couldn't get out for a few days. When the tech came out, he cut off part of that overflow and made sure everything was working. And we haven't had any problem ever since.
We've been with AHS for 16 years and usually, we'd get a pretty good turnaround in getting something fixed. But when our air conditioner went out, it was different because they had to order the coil. That happened in July here in Texas and at the time, my daughter, her husband and my little grandbaby were staying with us. They had to go to a hotel and we had fans on to survive. It about a week to get everything done. Then they had to change out the air handler and that was another expensive item because AHS did not cover it. Even though AHS said they'd cover the air handler parts, they covered only some parts up to a certain amount. So, we had to spend almost $1700 of our money to get the air handler put in.
There are also so many things that are not included in the warranty but I'm glad that they include the mechanism inside the toilet. Still, I wish that we could get a senior discount. AHS should take into account that some of their customers might be senior citizens on a fixed income which doesn't amount to a hill of beans. They give all the new and best deals to the new people and they don't do the retention to keep their old customers.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for almost four years now. Being a first-time homeowner, I knew that I wanted to have some type of protection for different appliances and properties obtained in the house. The contractors that have come out have been prompt. Today, I had to get somebody to come out for some more work on some stuff I had done. They called me back within an hour or two and we set up the appointment. When the contractors came out, they were really nice, they told me everything that was going on and how they would fix the issue. Everybody that I’ve interacted with has been very polite, very courteous and very timely.
My other concern was when I was having some issues with my furnace. I had made an appointment and while I was talking to the rep on the phone and he was finalizing everything, the scene that stuck out to me was that the contractor had gotten really bad reviews. So, I didn't feel comfortable using the contractor because I looked at the reviews for different agencies. I asked them and said, “Am I able to use this particular company?” The rep said, “No. Unfortunately, this is who you have to go with.” And I just canceled it because I didn't wanna have to pay $107 only to get a misquote. I had considered switching over because I would like the freedom of finding my own, let’s say, electrician, and that he was a contractor with AHS, why couldn’t I just use them instead of them having to select somebody for me.
The AHS rep didn't give me the opportunity. I asked if they could select someone else and he said, “Unfortunately, the way that our contract list is set up, these are the people who are only available to come out to your property.” I asked to speak to a supervisor, and he said, “They're probably gonna tell you the same thing.” So, I just canceled the claim. And this just happened Thursday of last week. Some things have changed. I don't know if the jobs have been outsourced because these people sound like they're foreigners. So, the language barrier has been a little difficult. But I tend to manage and being able to make my request and them working with me has been fine.
I just feel like if AHS has a contractor list, and I’m sure it’s more than one plumber, more than one electrician. And if you have a company that you already have on your contract list, let me choose who I would like to come out because either way, I’m having to pay for it. And if they have to charge me something outside of that, then I can go directly with them. But this Allen Breeze got all 1 stars. I don't want them. I don't wanna waste my money. At this point in my life, I’m separated from my husband, and unfortunately, all the bills have fallen on me, and everything has broken down in my house at the same time. And I’m working two jobs, so I had to get the money up just to get the plumbing work done because I had some extensive plumbing that were behind. And the plumbing company that came, they were absolutely wonderful.
I’m just gonna switch to another home warranty company when my contract is up. I don't wanna deal with it. I should be able to choose, if they're inter-network, or whoever is best suited that’ll give me the best deal because I’m a woman. I don't want somebody just giving me this outrageous quote because sometimes they can try to overcharge women. Overall, I’ve been pleased with the work that I’ve gotten. It’s just the issue that I had around trying to get help because my heat’s still not fixed. That’s why I’m just gonna have to try to figure it out because I should try to get somebody else.

I've only been with American Home Shield for a couple of months. It was part of buying a new house. Their claim process was very easy. When we had plumbing issue, I did it online. Moreno Plumbing came out and fixed the problem and everything went fine. It turned out it was so old, it was corroded, and we needed to remove the plug. The plumber took that out so the water could flow through the drain. Everything went very well. We had an electrician out too and that experience was very good too.

I believed in AHS for a long time and I've been with them for 13 years. But they have cheapened their services, charged more money, and do less services. They’ve taken off items from their coverage, too. For instance, I have a water conditioner and even though I haven’t had any problems with it, AHS doesn’t repair that anymore. So if there’s something wrong with it, tough luck. Also, the whole reason I have this warranty is to have the air conditioner repaired when it breaks because I live in the desert. And now, I don’t have faith that AHS will be able to do that within reasonable expectations of repair work on that.
Recently, the microwave had a broken button on it and AHS sent out a tech from D & G Appliance. They are very good appliance repair people and they do a remarkably good job. The tech determined that the microwave couldn’t be fixed and that AHS was gonna replace it. But I have a KitchenAid and AHS offered me a Whirlpool as replacement. I also had a 14-inch versus the 27-inch microwave that I have now. And I only had room in my built-ins for a 14-inch trim kit or a 24-inch trim kit. So, it limited highly what kind of microwave I could replace it with because I didn’t have room for the bigger trim kit. And all of my other appliances matched together. So, I’m a little disappointed in American Home Shield that they don’t replace for the quality of appliances you have. They don’t replace name brand to name brand and they just go and give you one option. AHS should also offer quality merchandise if they gotta replace things.
AHS has some good service people but they also got some bad service people and some who don't call you back. I have a GE Monogram built-in refrigerator and one time, the thing was not transferring cold air into the other thing. It was a heat exchanger module that was going bad and the guy that AHS sent out had to tear it apart to get to the module unit. When he went to put it back together, he attempted to hook up the interior lights in and he tried to put the plug in backwards, which shorted out the system. The guy freaked out and thought he blew up the whole circuit board on the refrigerator. So, he just dropped everything and left me stranded. So any time that AHS would try to have them come and do work for me, I wanna have a different person and they'd accommodate that.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

The price of American Home Shield's coverage keeps going up. It's $70 a month and I still have to pay a $75 deductible for the contractor to come out. If I only have one service call during a year, I'm actually losing money by having it. Still, I have the best coverage anyone can get. If I have two or three calls which normally are at $400 or $500 a pop, I come out on the positive end.
I've had problems with their contractor, Lindsay Plumbing. They messed up my water heater and I put them on my "Don't send to my house" list. I had to call to do that. Occasionally though, when I sign up for a plumber, Lindsay would still pup up. I can't just go on AHS' website and say that I want another contractor. I have to call them and I'm on hold for a long period of time.
We had an older kitchen faucet that was leaking one time. A tech from Top Notch Home Services came and repaired it but then the leak got progressively worse. When he came around a second time, he replaced the kitchen faucet with a new one. American Home Shield didn't question it. They did what they said they would do.

We've owned homes before so we've always had a warranty. It's very important to get one so we can have some peace of mind in case something happens. We've had a previous provider and they were $6 fee for the visit but those claims were 15 years ago. We've bought this house in October and have Home Shield in it. I was very impressed with the gentleman who came out for our claim recently. He was very knowledgeable and he did a good job. He was here close to an hour but he talked with me for 15 minutes.
We had an electric issue. The outlet was old and then a breaker blew. The first guy that came out said that the outlet dryer needed 240 volts and only put me a 120. It turns out that this house had two circuits for that line. When the previous owner moved out they unplugged their dryer and it blew something. When we put ours in it, it tripped one. And so, the tech put in a new electric part in the panel and he replaced the actual outlet and rewired it.

I just bought the house this January and the everything went proper during the winter. This October when I tested my furnace it would stay on for 30 seconds and then shut off. I called and they could not have anyone come out because it was the weekend. So I had to call the American Home Shield and tell them that I didn't care when it stopped working, I was paying them to keep it working. They made it an emergency and sent someone out to "fix" the problem. Said it was a bad relay that was no longer needed. Okay weird how a furnace no longer needed a relay, but heck it was running now so I didn't care.
Less than two months later the furnace started to turn on for only 30 seconds again and shut off. So I called AHS again and luckily I did not have to pay the $70 to have them come back out. Well this time the tech spends an hour looking at it and I don't hear it going on and off anymore and hear him come up the stairs. He says that there are multiple things beyond repair and it should have never been fixed the last time. Says that it will need replaced. This was two weeks ago. I have had no heat in my house for two weeks.
I call AHS today and they said that they have not talk to another contractor yet. I asked why not and the lady could not give me an answer. I said that I have been heating my house with an electric heater in the basement, propane heater on the first floor and electric heater on the second floor, only keeping my house a balmy 53 degrees for two weeks now. Now I'm told that they will have someone contact me within four hours and this was two hours ago. I was told that the company will only help if you leave bad reviews or try to leave. My contract is up at the end of the month, so I may or may not be still with them. I'm going to leave this open for edits and the outcome. Love Always, James.

I was a customer for many years. In March of 2019 I decided their service (which was spotty) was no longer needed. Called to cancel; received a cancellation number and thought that was the end of it. I did not monitor my credit card account closely enough, but after a few months found that they were still charging me. Called- got acknowledgement my credit card should not have been charged- was promised a refund of almost $500.00- but instead crediting my credit card, got an email saying I owed them $29.00. They are phony-- don't trust them.

I had a slab leak one time and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. They sent On Time Plumbing & Heating out and my leak was taken care of. They jackhammered down through the laundry room floor, found the leak and fixed it. AHS covered $1,000 of the $2,000 bill. I was pleased with that contractor. I also paid to have my son insured by AHS and we had a problem with their contractor called Plumb Genius. They came out and did some work at my son's house where there was a leak. I was there when they came and they told me what they were gonna do. They ended up going down to the concrete but then they never put the carpet back down nor put the molding back. They said they would do all that.
Additionally, they cut a piece of the drywall and they would not do that. They haven't been back at my son's house since. He has called numerous times and talked to them but then they have yet to come back to finish the work. It has been about six months. We were in here three weeks and one of my sprinklers from my septic system broke. I had some people come out and they said there was a stoppage. But there wasn't. AHS sent two other people out and although I didn't have to pay for those people, as soon as they saw what I was doing, they said they didn't deal with septic systems. So AHS was sending people that didn't even know what they were doing.
Then, AHS said they wouldn't cover the repair because the septic system isn't under the foundation. So, I went back and forth asking them what septic system did they know of that's under the foundation of the house in Texas. But in the end, I dug down in the mud and just fixed the issue myself. I had to pay somebody to come out and pump the septic tank out. I'm pretty upset and I don't like AHS at the moment because I paid an extra 100 bucks to have my septic system covered but when part of it broke, they didn't cover it. I could've just went with the basic thing, but I was concerned about it. Then, I came to find out that there were more issues and I had to pay a bunch of money to get the system pumped.

One of my garage door openers failed three months ago. So, I’ve been using the other garage door opener, and then that one failed. I went online, put in the claim to American Home Shield, and I could either call Precision or AHS would contact them. I decided to call them. They scheduled an appointment, came out, and they didn’t have the stuff to be able to fix it right away. So, they had to order it and then came out the following day. They had some trouble installing it, so the guy had to have someone else from their company come out and just to check to make sure what he was doing was okay. They told him what to do, and then he finished it. Everything’s fine now, except with one of the remotes they gave me, every now and then one of the buttons doesn’t work. But other than that, everything’s great. The techs were on time.
I had a really bad experience having AHS get the one company to fix my AC system. That was really horrible. They got everything resolved after like four times. The AC wouldn’t turn on. When it came to starting to use the AC, the heat would work because I had gas, but when it came to using the heat pump, it wouldn’t work and it would just shut off. And that was when I called AHS. Then someone came out and said, “Oh, it’s this.” And then it wasn’t that. Then someone else said, “It’s this.” And then, someone else came out and said, “Well, I don’t think that guy was correct. It’s gonna be this.” They had to come back out again and fix it. That one was a little frustrating.
It took almost a month and a half, and it was in the summertime. It was like some 90 something degree days. So, I called AHS and said, “Hey, I need something ‘cause I got my family.” They ended up giving me like 60 bucks towards a window unit. So, it was something, but it wasn’t everything. Eventually it got taken care of. At first, I wasn’t so sure about using this warranty. But with the garage doors, it was a really good experience.
We are glad that the issue was resolved, we do apologize for the remote issue. If anything arises, do not hesitate to contact us.

Having lived here my whole life and knowing that American Home Shield uses the bottom of the barrel with their technicians, I’ve had to redo like everything. The ones who came for my dryer were unprofessional. They showed up in pick-up trucks. And they’ve expressed to me that American Home Shield doesn’t pay anything, and they discourage them to do anything even if the appliance needs to be replaced and to just band aid it because they don’t wanna have to pay a replacement cost. But I’ll keep it in case something major goes out and they have no choice but to fix it.
Other than that, I’ve started calling and paying out-of-pocket. It’s not worth it. They use the worst people. When a guy came for the dishwasher, he said it was fine. I told him, “Sir, it’s not fine. Every time, I do the wash, it keeps a foot of water in there and starts smelling.” I still have a broken dishwasher, so I’m gonna call them. They'll probably gonna make him come back, but I don’t want him to come back because he’s gonna tell me it’s not broken again.
The guy that came to do the dryer, wasn’t physically able because of his size to even move things, get behind anything, properly check stuff or get on a ladder. Also, he was in slippers and an old shirt. It’s so unprofessional. I have a production company so we get tons of advertising for people and including service industry stuff, so I know who’s good and who’s not, and who’s professional, who’s not. And they just don’t care. It’s just like a quick check for them because they know it doesn’t matter. They’re just gonna get their little check and you’re not their client. I bought a gigantic house and got the warranty as an added peace of mind in case something major went out. But I think they’d do anything they could to get out of ever replacing anything. And there’s no loyalty among these technicians. They bash American Home Shield.

The technician came in, asked what the problem was, took a look at it and went to the truck to get a repair part. He fixed it and then he was out. So the experience was good. I’m guessing it was a switch that he took down and switched out.

We've been an American Home Shield customer since October when we bought this house. The washing machine wouldn’t drain so I called in to submit a claim since my computer’s broken right now, and I like the reps I spoke with. They were friendly and helpful. They sent out ALFA Appliances in three days, but it was over the weekend, and the tech was excellent. The other claim that I had was on the dishwasher. I figured I needed a new one, so I just put a new one in there.

A tech from Appliance Wizard came out and he was in and out within 40 minutes to an hour. He knew exactly what needed to be done and he fixed it. It was the first time I’ve had a claim with American Home Shield and it worked well.

I've had some issues with AHS, but overall, I'm satisfied. Their reps have been very courteous but my problem has been going on for months. The contractor has replaced just about everything in the freezer. The last time they replaced everything, it never worked the first time. Now they're here today, replacing something else. I don't think it's a working part but apparently, the manufacturer says that it's gonna fix the problem.
After everything was replaced, I was closed out. I was told to wait for a couple of weeks and that sometimes it takes a little while for the repair to start working. I waited. Then I called to say that it hadn't been fixed. I was told me that I have to pay a second charge, even though the freezer has never worked since I made the claim. I was told that it was a different claim and I said that I wasn't paying until the freezer gets fixed.
I apologize for the inconvenience as I can certainly understand your frustration. My name is Stacy and I've emailed you in an effort to assist with resolving your issue. I look forward to connecting with you.

I did a little check in here in San Angelo and knew most of the contractors. When I called Home Shield, I was impressed that they sent me somebody I had confidence in and felt good about. Also, when I had a filter stopped up on my sink and I couldn’t get it to work, it took the person they sent out five minutes to fix it. He was great. I was also impressed with his knowledge, and I was embarrassed about my lack of. All in all, it’s easy to make claims. All you gotta do is call in, and if they got somebody in the area that’s available, they’ll have them there easily within 24 hours. It’s usually within six or seven hours for me.

I like the experience with Home Shield as far as talking to the representatives. They're professional. The first experience was great. I felt like they had a sense of urgency. The second, though, I didn't feel they were professional and I had to call back. We called the claim in on Friday and then they didn't come back out till the next Thursday. It took a long time. The contractor might have been falling behind, but Home Shield didn't call me in 24 hours, which is what they advertised. I had to call them and they were just doing the calls and I ended up setting up the appointment. If that was the case, they should have just told me that and I would have called the contractor myself to try to get a sooner appointment, instead of having to wait it out that long.
The tech fixed the problem, but it didn't make sense to what the first guy said. I was there watching him and he said he went all the way like 40 feet in the house. I know he lied to me and he might've just done 15 feet. I wasn't too comfortable with that little lie and I kinda wanted to get a second opinion. But it's not a big deal. Also, I was under the impression I was covered with plumbing. The tech talked about this root to my plumbing and I called Home Shield and they said they don't cover that. To me, that's part of plumbing. Now, I'm over here stressing out and trying to come up with $4,500 to fix that.
The experience was fast and professional and it was good customer experience, but there are hidden details when it comes to the coverage on your home, and some of us don't have a sense of urgency as others. I've been with Home Shield for going on four years now. This is not the only house that I have. I have another house in Arizona that I have not had a problem and I don't wanna have a problem.

I had shut the power and everything off to it the night before because I didn’t know if it was spewing gas into the home or not. And when we went and fired it back up when they were here, everything worked. So, they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I kinda explained to the guy what was going on and he said, “Well, it’s a 23 year-old furnace that is basically the worse furnace that was ever made and there’s no repairing it.” So when it goes bad, it’s just gonna be replaced. Home Shield has been good every time I’ve used it.

Our pool pump wasn’t pumping water. My wife called a claim in to American Home Shield, and South Tampa Pool & Spa came out. Everything’s running fine now. My overall experience with American Home Shield hasn’t been as smooth as I thought though. There’s been a couple things that we’ve called to have fixed. The people that have come out to fix it said, “Well, they're probably gonna tell you, ‘no,’ because it’s gonna cost too much to fix it.” And I find that to be pretty accurate on a couple times, especially with my shower one time, when the handle broke. They tried to say, “I tried to fix it.” I have no clue what to do with any situation like that, and we got into a verbal altercation about that. I’ve had just a sour taste in my mouth about it a little bit. We pay our monthly fees or our yearly dues, and we call out to have something fixed, and then, they come up with some bogus excuse that is totally not even close to being correct.

Most of the time, my experiences with American Home Shield have been okay. It’s just that when they have to do parts, it takes so long. It's anywhere from a week to 10 days or more. It’s easy to put in a work order, and the response time is fast. It’s just that there are certain vendors that they use that seems like they never have the part on-hand and they have to order it. Then that takes time for them to get the part, and then to set up another appointment. AHS could work on the vendors having parts and being able to come back within a couple of days and not have to wait a week to 10 days.
The furnace people that had come out had always been pretty efficient and fast. But with our pump to the pool, and the heater, the vendor that AHS used there doesn’t always contact us back. And then with the parts, I understand there’s dozens of different name-brands of appliances out there, but they need a little bit faster response. We’re a family of five, and to be without a washer for 10 days is bad. We do laundry on a daily basis. We don’t want it to pile up.
The vendors always call within the 24 hours to set up the appointment, but sometimes you have to wait like three days before they even come out for the first time. Then they’ll tell you it’s 5 to 10 working days for them to get the part. And then they set up another date. So you could sometimes go for two weeks without having the appliance. In the meantime, we’re running to the laundromat and building up an expense there.
I don’t know how their contracts are set up with their vendor, and how they choose them. We live in Andalusia and I’ve noticed too that sometimes, the vendors come in from Bloomington. They do have people that are in this area, but their main company is in Bloomington, and then they have service workers up here, which is about probably a three-hour distance. If they had more local vendors in the area, it might be a little better too.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Jean. My name is Stacy & I will contact you make sure your issues were addressed. I look forward to assisting you.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for about 10 years ever since we purchased our home and they have always responded. But then I don’t know much about the people that they have selected to do business for them. They call three or four days later or we have to place a phone call and find out what's going on. Maybe I’m expecting too much, but I always feel like, “Hey, let me know what's going on and I’m fine.”
On our most recent claim experience, the repairman came out because the appliance repair person didn't have the code, so he just put on the code and the appliance was working immediately. And now for the refrigerator, the repairman is supposed to come back on Friday. We have a part that arrived last week, and he’s supposed to come out, and I really don’t know if that’s gonna do the trick or not. Josh’s Appliance came out initially and then he ordered a part, came back, and put on the part. It didn't solve the problem, so we called AHS again and they sent out somebody with Sears and he said he needed to order another part.
We have this refrigerator where we have a drawer in the middle where it keeps it a little bit colder but it’s not supposed to freeze the freezer area and it’s supposed to keep it colder than the refrigerator. But now, unfortunately, everything in that drawer freezes. We can’t even use it. The very first day that the repair person came was the end of October. It’s been a while. They ordered the part and it takes forever to get the part. When the part came, he had to kind of squeeze us in to come out. And then we thought it was repaired, but it wasn’t.
I called AHS again and asked for a different vendor. We had to make another phone call to get somebody out. The guy from Josh’s Appliance was a really nice person and he’s always very polite, but he didn't have the code, so I can’t blame him for it. And on this one, he thought it was fixed. We called again and we left a message, and he never called us back. When I called and asked AHS for a different vendor, the person that I spoke just asked me if he could put me on hold. He probably had to ask a supervisor. And he came right back and said they'd send Sears out. So, they weren’t arguing or telling me that they couldn't do it.

AHS was so quick to help whenever I submit a claim. Every time I call them for something, in the next few minutes, they have a ticket out. And then they have a contact number for me, who’s going to be calling me, and if they don’t, who I should contact. Their contractor usually would come out the next day. The people that they are contracted with work around my schedule. AHS is a fantastic company. I’ve had them for a few years and I really enjoy working with them. Their people have been really nice and very knowledgeable.
Everyone should have coverage from a home warranty program. I just wish that AHS rates weren’t so high. But that’s understandable. They need to pay someone to come out. But the premium is the premium. You know you'd pay $100 for a technician to come out. There are other companies that charge a little less, some charge $60, some charge $50, but you get what you pay for.

If something does break down, I don't have two grand to go buy a new refrigerator or HVAC system, so we got American Home Shield for the convenience. It was a comfort level for me. As long as I can strictly submit a claim through my app, I'm fine. But if I have to deal with them personally, it's very hard to even get them to understand what I am explaining to them. When I needed a different plumber because the plumber said that so and so was not in the right place, it was very hard for them to grasp what I was explaining to them. If I have to call in to customer service or purchasing, that's where my issues come in. When I ended up having a new refrigerator because there was a bunch of parts that were no longer available, they put me on hold forever, but I could hear a bunch of people talking in the background. Then, they hung up on me. It was just a constant trying to get through to someone who I could understand or speak with.
All of the contractors that came out, but one, have been really good. I had one issue with a plumbing contractor and I blew them up about how horrible the service was. He said that it wasn't covered by American Home Shield and I had to pay out of pocket to another company, only to find out it would've been covered by American Home Shield. He just didn't wanna do the work. When I called the other plumbing company, they came out and I paid them out of pocket, and I told them what happened. They said, "We do work for AHS and this definitely was covered." He just didn't wanna crawl underneath the house to find the vent cleaners for the plumbing. He said it was on the roof, it wasn't. It was the front flowerbed. So it cost $400-something out of pocket when it really could've just cost me my copay, or even if I had to pay a little bit more. And I was very ticked off about that.
Overall, the experience has been fine. It's just really that one issue with the plumber situation. That wasn't American Home Shield's fault. And the only bad thing I can say of American Home Shield was just them trying to get a hold of someone. If others would ask about American Home Shield, I'd tell them to go for it. Just make sure to get the right plan.

I had a good experience in the first year that I had American Home Shield, and I kept them since. I've had them for more than 12 years. Submitting the claim is easy. It’s online, and I just fill the information and submit that. And then, usually, somebody calls within 24 hours. The only time I’ve had negative experience was when there was heavy calls, and it took 48 hours for somebody to come out to the house to check the problem.
In general, the contractors are okay. We had a bad experience on the last one, where it was freezing. We had a cold front. The people after two days, which was already freezing cold. They diagnosed the problem, and because it was close to Thanksgiving, they said they couldn’t get the parts until after Thanksgiving. So they came back after Thanksgiving. It turned out that the technician that was out there did not know what was going on. He ordered the wrong parts. He said he didn't know how to fix it and that I needed to call somebody else who is an expert in this kind of furnace.
I expected that the contractor was experienced and he should be able to address the problem and know what it is, but he had no idea. The contractor should have told his manager that he did not know what was wrong. Instead of ordering the part and having us wait a week in the cold to get the part, and then realizing it was not working. The bad part of this was waiting. It was sub-freezing temperatures, and I got sick for a week after that.
After eight days, they assigned somebody else, and he was really good. He came in a day later, and he checked it out and said that there was a problem with the igniter on the furnace. It happened he had a part in his car, so he replaced it, and it was good. American Home Shield said they were going to compensate us for the heater that we bought, but I haven’t received any forms to fill out from them yet. But overall, I’m still keeping the warranty. I’m still satisfied with the work they did. It wasn’t really their fault, per se. But they need to be better in picking the contractors.

I usually submit claims over the phone and the claims representatives are working okay. In my recent claim, I was given a date and time of when to expect the contractors out. It appeared that I had some water damage on my wall in my bathroom, but it ended up just being some adhesive from the base, and it looked a lot like water damage. I recently had some hose bibs outside of the house that were leaking. I had gone to shut the water off, and it wouldn’t shut off as the valve was broke. The claims process for it went flawless. On American Home Shield’s website, even if a part is covered, they don’t list it as something you can pick from the drop-down menu. So, I called once I got the referral back on who the contractor was, and I told them what the problem was so they would have the parts when they came out. On the website though, everything that they cover should be available to either pick from a drop-down menu or something that says “other” so you can input what it is. There is an “other” but it doesn’t allow you when you pick that to actually type in what it is.

We've had a couple of claims done because we've had a lot of appliances not working right. We get different contractors and everything has been okay. Sometimes, lines get crossed because American Home Shield will tell me that I need to talk to the other company as they might not get their claims. One time we had to wait a really long time and they kept saying to call the other place. I called them and they said, "We didn't get the claim from American Home Shield, so we can't do anything." That was the worst thing that happened. But other than that, everything is good.
Right now, our dishwasher wasn't washing right. Precision Services came and my stepmother thought everything was okay, whatever the tech did. He turned it on and stuff, but she said that you can't tell if it's washing properly if you don't put dishes in it and wash it. So, last I heard from her, it still wasn't working and she wanted them to come back. I'm the one who has to call American Shield and do that again, but I've not been feeling good, so I haven't made any calls.
My dad is 87 and a half and he has had AHS for years. He talks about it and he likes it. So from what I gather, it's been a good thing for him. He recommends them. They're on a fixed income. In the long run when the appliance breaks or it goes bad, you couldn't afford to be paying a bunch of money out of pocket or to get a brand new one, so having AHS is a good thing.

Our electricity was on an a state inspection to sell the home. The GFCI, the outlets that has that little reset button, had to be upgraded or put to code. And that was what the tech from Silver Strand Electric did. He was really good. We even had a little issue because they worded it weirdly on the inspection. They said laundry room, which the GCFI was on the wall, but it wasn't near the washer and the dryer. So, he did that one. And then he checked the one by the washer and the dryer, and it didn't need to be one of those because you know how sometimes they reset themselves, then the washer or dryer will stop. He just kept the one that was there. He checked it and made sure it was A-okay. He replaced the cover on there because it was cracked, but the outlet works. It passed the inspection and the house was sold.
I had the AHS coverage on the house already. We purchased it for the home while we were living there. I had one full interaction with everyone that they sent out except for one company. They were for plumbing. We had a leak in the shower, in between the wall. I was so disappointed with that company because they left a hole in the wall, and I could not get them to come and patch it up. I had to pay somebody else to do it. The day that they fixed the leak, I paid them. I looked and told them, "Okay, so you're gonna patch that up." And the guy said, "I don't really know about patching it up, but I'll call somebody from our company."
There was one other issue that I had. One time a payment didn't go through. And so, I couldn't get service until I paid that payment which was fair. But that thing kept on every time I would call. Up until the end, I would call, I will always get this thing saying I owe $75 and I owe the fee, which I had paid. I guess that was a technical error. The experience left a bad taste in my mouth. But that wasn't American Home Shield. That was Concept Renaissance, the contracting company. It was frustrating because I kept calling them, texting them, and they kept just stringing me along. It was a horrible experience. I would never do business with them again in my life. I had to get that fixed so that I can sell the house. It just made the process of even listing my home took even longer because of them just yanking my chain and they just did not finish the job. But everybody else that I worked was spot-on. They did their job and fixed everything like it was supposed to be.

My ice maker freezes over and then the drain clogs up in the fridge and so it's been kind of an ongoing issue. Somebody was scheduled promptly and came out and fixed it. The only thing that AHS could improve on is that they should have clearer guidelines around when something is replaced, like how many times did someone come out to fix it before deciding that it's not fixable and replace it. There's one company they use that I now refuse to accept. When that happens, I just call and ask for another contractor to be assigned, but other than that one contractor, everybody else has been highly professional and very responsive.

Although every year I question whether or not we should renew, we mostly do because of the pool equipment that we have.

I love American Home Shield and I like their website. I like how easy it is for me to look up what's covered, what's not, the details of it, and to request service. They always assign somebody immediately. On our spa issue, Bluepoint showed up and they listened to what we had to say and deciphered it right away. They showed me what was going on and told me that it was bad. They said they would get ahold of American Home Shield and tell them what we were thinking. Then they would see what they would do from there. Five days later, they were back out and they had it all repaired. They cleaned up then they were gone. We've had AHS in this house for 7 years, in our condo for 3 years and in our townhouse for a year, and we've never had a problem with them.

I’ve never had a major expenditure to see if they’d pay for it, but it’s also good to know they’re gonna get somebody to get out here within a reasonable amount of time, which in the past has been a problem. I'm by myself and I can certainly hand-wash the few dishes I have. He came back nice as could be. I would not mind having him in my home again. He was a very much gentleman. We had a nice conversation while he was working and he was clean. A month later, I had to have another issue taken care of. It was my air conditioner that had some exposed wires up there. Two months ago, my dishwasher had a code fo F2/E2. I called American Home Shield and they immediately sent Appliance Protection LL. They sent a contractor, we paid the $125.00 deductible, and the same code returned a few days later - (right before Thanksgiving). Notified AHS, I asked if someone could come the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They said yes and scheduled an appt. Two hours into the window in which APL was supposed to come, the technician called and said he didn't have the part (part that was told we would need) and canceled the appt. I've called AHS every week since that time, and to-date, my dishwasher is still not repaired. AHS said someone would call, to-date, no one from the company as contacted me. Never heard from APL. DON'T BUY A HOME WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY!

A month later, I had an issue. The furnace was lighting and then shutting itself right back off. The gentleman from Air First Mechanical came out and thought that he found the issue, and did not. The first time, he thought it was a clogged filter. I just purchased the home and I thought that it collapsed, so I could see why we would have thought that. When he left, everything was working. An hour later, it shut itself back off again. It ended up being a control board. As soon as I notified him, he very promptly called me back even if it was late at night, and then came back out the next morning. Every time that we’ve used American Home Shield, everything has gone fine. The only issue I have is not their problem. On the first claim for the solar panel pump, the technician said it was not covered and that I was gonna have to pay for it myself, and I believed him. That was my fault for not calling American Home Shield. I have a solar panel on the roof and the technician said the solar panel motor is not covered. When the pool pump motor went out this time, I went and read my contract before I called American Home Shield again. I saw that solar pumps were covered so I called to confirm that. It took a little bit of time but American Home Shield did realize that the wording in the contract did cover solar pumps. So both of the motors were repaired this time. Green Valley Pool and Patio was absolutely excellent.
They went out and diagnosed the pump. They didn’t carry a motor on but they were able to put a starting capacitor in on one pump. For the other one, they ended up having to replace the motor. Within the next day or two, they were back out and replaced the motor and the whole thing. It took less than an hour to do after the initial diagnosis. Everything went great and everything is working fine now.
But in another claim, an AC guy came and said the work was not covered. They gave me a price but I wasn’t happy with their quote from that company. I have a personal company that I used before American Home Shield and I said I would take care of the repair myself. But then I got a call back from American Home Shield, saying they were gonna cover the repair. The contractor was claiming it was not covered. But it was covered. The guy came back out and did it. This is where the issue comes in – the guys telling me that they don't believe the work is covered. But they don’t know what the contract says. Still, the issue is not American Home Shield itself.
I did have one negative thing about American Home Shield though, and it’s still not addressed. I had a dishwasher repair and in dishwashers, there’s an upper rack that slides in and out. Some of them have an adjustment hinge that goes up and down for high glasses. That adjustment click went out so my technician ordered the new unit and told American Home Shield what was wrong. But the parts department sent the wrong part. They sent the basket but no wheels and no clicker – just the basket. But the basket wasn’t the problem. The problem was the mechanism that raises and lowers the basket.
The company recontacted American Home Shield and they sent another basket but no adjacent parts. There was no way to do it. On the third time, I was not even gonna bother anymore. I said I was just gonna wire the basket in one position and leave it at that. I very seldom move it but it was annoying that it kept dropping then it would hit the plates at the bottom if there was something large. The next time there is an issue with the dishwasher, we’ll try it again.

My appliance was supposed to be delivered last week and something happened that I never got it. I tried to follow up with Whirlpool and then I finally got somebody from American Home Shield to double check for me, and they checked and it should be delivered today between 8:00 and noon. So, I’m impatiently waiting. The first time, it was a different contractor that came out. They said that it was completely shot. The part of this was melted and it was dangerous. And then they checked to see if they could possibly get some replacement parts, and they could not. Now, that particular person happened to be Bill with Fix-it Guys. He was gonna contact AHS, and they gave me an offer. When I agreed to it, they sent me to Workman, and Workman is supposed to install it. And I’ve talked to them a couple of times. They’re just waiting for it to get here so we can get it installed.
American Home Shield’s been fine. The interactions that I’ve tried to have with Whirlpool have been nightmarish. J.B. Hunt was supposed to deliver and they don’t have enough information because Whirlpool has changed the way they’re doing things. And when you get on hold, your estimated wait time is 762 minutes. That was the exact last number that I got. I don’t have seven hours to stay on hold. But I was able to call American Home Shield and explain that to somebody and they said if I could stay on hold for a little bit, they were gonna check and see what they could do. That was when I found out that they had planned to deliver it today. Overall, I’m glad I’ve got a home warranty. I don’t know if I’d be able to afford to replace this if I didn’t.

He explained everything and did an excellent job. I was very happy with him. However, I was ready to drop AHS because they cheated me on something and I was really fed up. They beat me out of a $700 convection oven. The guy didn't know what he was doing and couldn't fix it. He tried for months and months coming out with one part every time. He went through every part that he thought would fix it, but he never did. I don't understand why AHS couldn't fix it after six months. I just put in to get a new microwave instead of getting a convection oven and they wouldn't pay me for it so I lost $1,700. I talked to Martin a little bit about it and told him that I was very frustrated with them. He said that they are one of the better home warranties. So I reconsidered dropping them. I’ve been with AHS for about 10 years and submitting a claim is great. I would usually hear back from the contractor that they assigned me within an hour if it was within business hours. If it was off business hours, then somebody would contact me as soon as they could.
All the contractors I’ve had experience with have been great and I have all of their cards. American Home Shield changes them out every so often, so I wanna make sure that I have a reputable person that I can rely on just in case. But they do a good job of screening. The biggest issue that I had was with my washing machine. They came out and they were gonna have to replace the transmission but either they couldn't get the part or something happened with that, and they just replaced the whole washing machine. It was a comparable value and I was satisfied that they replaced it. They took the other one off and I didn't have to worry about anything. Everything is just so easy and streamlined. Everything just falls into place and you never have to worry. You can go online and pay the $75 for the service call.

BRM Services came out for an appliance repair and everything went fine with that. They came out and said that my refrigerator needed to be replaced, and I’m in the process of doing it. The only thing was that I had a leak in the kitchen at the same time from the bathroom, and so, I had two claims open. Another company came out and replaced it, and American Home Shield had to get authorization for them to do that. The question that I asked them was, “Is everything gonna be put back the same way?” And they told me, “Yes.” But when the guy got out there to patch up the ceiling, he told me, “AHS only authorized us to put a piece of drywall up there and screw it in,” and that I would be responsible for patching it up, sanding it and getting it painted. I was floored by that because that was not what I was told. Had I known ahead of time, I would have had the person to come out right after them on that same day and patch it up.
One of the managers did go back and look at the notes, and he told me that in the notes, the representative did inform me incorrectly. Now, we gotta come up with money to pay someone out to try to do that. I had to rearrange my delivery of the refrigerator because of course, with sanding and all of that, there’ll be dust and all sorts of stuff in there. I had to cancel the delivery twice because we’re still looking for somebody. And I gotta keep taking off of work. It’s frustrating. I’m looking for them to remedy that situation, and I haven’t gotten anybody to even call me back on it. That put a real sour taste in my mouth to the point that I might look for a different company.

The closest availability the contractor had was two days later, but I couldn't so they came five days later. Originally the guy said it was an electrical problem. It worked but a week later we figured out it didn't have power so we called them back. And as soon as I called them back they came out two days later. They were super quick.
When I called customer service it was like talking to a robot even though it was a real human. It was super scripted. I wanted her to talk to me like a person, and was kind of frustrating. But they got me what I needed. She was helpful. The first time I put the claim in I called because I didn't know what was going on. And the second one, I knew I could just do it online, so I did. I was calling them back, it was for the same issue, so I just plugged it all in.
I also have another comment about something I did not like. Somebody called me because I filed a claim so I was getting a new furnace but I have to pay the fees. Whoever called me left it in a voice mail and left all of the charges in a voice mail. I would have just preferred if she had just said, "Call me back so we can talk about it," because they wouldn't know if they were talking to me or not, like, what if they got the wrong phone number? It wasn't any information but it was like, "Hey, Kara. There's charges, this charge, this charge, this charge. So, a total of $1,100." I'm like "Okay, strangers don't need to know that." You could not do that in a voice mail. Other than that, they've been great and I like them.

Their website is user-friendly enough, but the last two times I have submitted a claim, it looked like I was scheduling an appointment. It said that the next available time for me to get an appointment was this date and this time. After that, I realized that that was not an appointment because somebody was supposed to show up one day but didn’t. I went to call before the contractor did and realized they never even got the information. When I called AHS to talk to them about it, they addressed the situation, but when I asked to speak to a manager they said that the manager is on the phone and can’t talk to me. I can’t talk to a manager to resolve the problem, or to at least tell the management, that I've got a problem.
It took almost a week for somebody to show up to fix my microwave. And whenever I try to escalate a problem, the rep just says that management is too busy and that they've got it taken care of. But nobody was taking my name and number to call me back. There has been a communication problem and I’ve really questioned whether or not that I need to use a warranty company. It’s probably quicker for me to just call a local repairman and have them come out to fix my microwave than it is to go through the warranty company. The contractors who have come out fixed my problem though. One of the problems was with the oven and that was easy. For the other problem, the guy had to replace a switch on the microwave and fixed it right away.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Herbert. I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy & I will contact you to make sure the issue is resolved.

I had a problem with the outlet and I called AHS right before Thanksgiving. The representative was fine and the technician from Comfort Technology was very professional. The job was quick. He found it right away and he cleaned up good, so everything was good. It was just the outlet that needed to be replaced. I used to have AHS and I went with another one and I came back to them. I had a better deal with the other company, but ended up not being good with the coverage.

I've had AHS for about 4 years and normally, submitting claims to them is a very good experience. But I just called in recently about my return on my furnace because they sent a contractor out who didn't repair it. That contractor was supposed to contact AHS to let them know what the situation was but the only thing I got was an email saying that my service is complete. They didn't do anything and I was under the impression they were supposed to be getting back with me to let me know whether or not they were gonna be able to fix it. This has happened twice when they did not get back in touch with me in reference to the call that I made for service. Recently, I submitted a claim for an issue that I thought was electrical. When AHS' contractor got to my location, they found out that the issue that my dishwasher was plugged in wrong. So, I paid $100 for them to plug in not my dishwasher, but my garbage disposal.
Hi Shirley,

When you call American Home Shield, they do what they say they are gonna do. But I had an experience before where the lady a hassle. She submitted the claim, but I was on the phone with her for so long to get what I needed. She had no earthly idea what I was talking about. She didn’t speak English and couldn’t understand what I was saying. However, the last rep I had was excellent. When I reported my problem, she went right to it. Moreover, AHS's vendor, K & S Plumbing, has been awesome. They send the same tech every time I have a problem. And he really knows what he’d be doing.

We had a leak in the water system. That winter, we couldn't turn on hot water or anything. We had to go next door to get hot water from our neighbors. We were using a hose like a bunch of people from a third world country. We couldn't even flush the toilets. We'd need to take the water to flush the toilets. It was ridiculous. When B&L Plumbing came in, they told me that they could do these things on a rush basis. They didn't know what happened, but American Home Shield obviously didn't know that we didn't have any water at all. B&L said they were supposed to be out here in two hours.
AHS dropped the ball completely and they didn't offer anything to me. The young guy who set up the appointment wasn't willing to do anything for us. I called him about 11 o'clock in the morning. He was supposed to get back to me. Then by 5 o'clock, I hadn't heard anything so I tracked him down and he was gone home. I had to go after him the next day. When we got a hold of them, it started to work. The guy came out but it was three days later and he was done in about half an hour. He put a SharkBite connector on there. He cut the pipe which was copper out of the hot water heater. Now, the problem from the leak was from the humidifier attached to it. When I went to turn it on 'cause the weather was changing, it started flowing water, so the cold water has to be shut down. B&L did a good job and got it done.
Next, we had a problem with the furnace. It wouldn't operate. The contractor said he would be out here before noon. Noon came and went and they weren't gonna be there. The weather was changing, so I could forgive them for that. The heat was shut. There's a little piece of copper wire on the furnace and when it gets hot, it turns in a certain direction and trips the gas valve to go on. We couldn't get the thing to stay on and the pilot light was going on and off. But this guy came out at 6:30 at night to do the job and that was a heck of a job he did.
I've been with American Home Shield for at least two years. It started at $50 for the service call, now it's up to 75. It's gone up a bit. The guy from B&L and the guy who fixed the furnace were great. It's not the fault of the guys coming out to do the work. It's the fault of who's assigning it at their headquarters. If they're lackluster, the whole thing goes down the drain. AHS hires these people that don't speak English as the first language and you can't understand what they're saying and they talk a hundred miles a minute. I had to ask to repeat everything.
I apologize for the inconvenience. My name is Stacy & I've just sent you an email to obtain more information about your experience & assist with unresolved issues. I look forward to speaking with you.

I have a number of properties with American Home Shield and I wouldn’t keep them on unless I was satisfied. Some contractors had been to our house in Warrington Drive once and had to come back to work on something. It seems to be working fine so everything went well. Then recently, I put in a claim with them for an AC unit. United Air Temp came out and installed a part. I’m pleased with the company that did the service. But, I received a notice that one of my policies didn't renew. If they would contact me and let me know which property it was, it would be great and I could renew it. Other than that, I'm pleased with Home Shield and the company that did the service.

I would like to inform you of a situation that we ran into while we were getting our dishwasher repaired. The first company or contractor you sent had a problem finding what it was, but eventually said he found it. He said he had to order a part so we had to wait three days before the part came in, one more day because it was on a weekend. Finally he arrived. He did apologize for the part taking so long. He then placed and told us not to use the machine for 24 hour, because he put some type of sealer on the hose connections on the part he just put in. So we waited. Tried the machine. Still the same problem. They said they couldn't figure it out so they called AHS to get a new contractor to look at, he arrived the next day.
We explained what was what and what the other tech had done. He tried it and it didn't work for him either, so he took this handheld scanner, scanned the inside and said he knows what it is, take two days for the part. This contractor was "Getter Done Right" and they did right. At two days he was back. Took out what that other guy put in, he then showed me the part was coated with mildew. Some other grease that was brown. I can't remember the name of the first contractor, but you have my permission to forward this to American Home Shield they have all the records of this, and I would like to have that other contractor removed from their list. Thank you Larry **.

My first time filing a claim with the home warranty company and I already don't like it. I asked for an expedited service request due to leaking faucets that leak SEVERAL GALLONS of water per day and I'm not able to shut them off unless I shut the water to the house off. I was told I would receive an email and text message with my work order (and that the technician would call first thing in the morning) and thus far haven't received anything 12 hours later (I also called to follow up on the work order and STILL haven't received the email they promised). My credit card also shows it has not been charged for the deductible. I guess the home warranty company expects me to be incredibly uncomfortable in my own home, with no water. I read some great reviews about excellent customer service, and quick service, but unfortunately that hasn't been my experience at all. I'm extremely disappointed.
Good Morning Maria,

Barber’s was professional and timely. They were quick. They do a wonderful job. In fact, we requested them because I’ve had people from other areas, and I had a horrible experience. I was afraid with the man being in my house. But the Barber’s is a family-owned place. All of the different people they send out seem to be knowledgeable, professional and safe. I requested them because I felt safe with them, and sometimes, I’ve called on a day, and they came that afternoon. Nobody does that.
I had a claim for my refrigerator, and I paid the $75 deductible, but all it needed was to clean the filter underneath. But in the long run, and it would have cost me a lot more. Over time, it works itself out with the premiums. But it’s okay because at least we have the coverage. We renew with American Home Shield because my husband is a disabled firefighter, and he still thinks he can do everything that he used to do, but he can’t. The things that would need to be done would get neglected because he couldn’t do them. This was one way for us, in our own personal situation, that the 75 deductible was reasonable. I could go ahead and call them out, and they come out. Barber’s came out and took care of the water heater recently. My husband wouldn’t have been able to go in the attic and do all of that by himself.
The only problem I had this past time was that the girl told me I could not request somebody and that they had somebody else come out. I told her I was not gonna let them in my house. I asked for her supervisor, and she said she was busy. Then I asked to talk to the supervisor's supervisor. I do understand why they don’t wanna take requests. But we don’t live in city that has a lot of people available. We live in a rural area. We had somebody come out and the man looked like an ex-convict, and he looked like he had been drinking. I was home by myself, and it scared me. Then he didn’t even fix my refrigerator. This was one of the first repairs that I had had. He damaged it more that it ended up where we had to get a new refrigerator through American Home Shield. I should be able to request people who I feel safe with.

I’m totally ignorant about a lot of things, and something was twisted when it was not supposed to be twisted. But I was afraid that it would get worse than it was. So, they just walked me through and told me, “Next time, don’t do this.” But all’s well that ends well. Also, the timing was quickly done. My tenant told me the stove wasn't working, and CD Appliance had gone out there in September to repair the stove. So it was three months and they're having problems again. With AHS there's a 60-day time limit for them to not charge a service fee. So that's my issue. If the stove is broken just replace the stove. I have my handyman that does most of my work. I'm paying all this money for American Home Shield. And three months later I have to pay another service fee. It's too much. I'm better off just saving the money for when something goes bad with the property. I don't wanna keep fixing the same stove. They need to just replace the stove. Even if it's limping along dying, American Home Shield will do a temporary fix.
I had one company tell me, "Listen ma'am, I know you need a new appliance but I can't tell American Home Shield that as long as I can fix it." They must be losing customers because I couldn't be the only one. I don't even call them about plumbing issues anymore. I had to pay the 75 bucks and why do they tell me, "I'm sorry, we can't do that. That's not under the warranty."
Also they have to do surveys after each call with the Filipino people that they have doing their customer service. When they don't know something, they straight up lie. I asked for retention because I have come so close to canceling everything a few times. And they gave me one free service call for each property. And not only that, they waived my monthly fee because I was done. I got the free service calls, but it was like pulling teeth to use those service call. They tell me, "I'm sorry, American Home Shield don't give free. No, No, you're mistaken." I said, "Oh, my god." I said, "Look through the notes and see." "Ma'am, I'm looking through the notes." When you call them, you ask, "Okay, I'm calling the service." "Ma'am, I'm sorry, this contract expired." I said, "You gotta be kidding." Then they just take 30 something or 50 something dollars every month off my credit card. So they need to go back to their customer service.
They'll schedule a service and nobody shows up because it wasn't scheduled. And they have a style to put you on hold forever until the line goes dead. That's the kind of customer service I'm getting from American Home Shield. And the calls 95% of the time goes to the Philippines. In retention they get complaints all the time. I know it's cheap labor, but it's crazy. They need to just let Americans do what they do, pay them more, and keep it moving.

First of all, if there were a zero star I will give it to zero instead of 1. I am first time homeowner and the home coming with home warranty. My furnace is broken and create a service request to replace it. Although the home warranty covers the furnace and the installation, the contractor AHS specified asks for another 2210$ to replace it. It asks for 2210$ for reconnect the pipeline to the new furnace. Get the 2nd opinions from the other contractors, they said that the quote is totally nonsense. The installation fee for a new furnace is even less than what they ask for reconnect pipelines.
There are very limited contractors AHS provided to do the work and if you want to switch to another contractor and you have to pay another service fee to re diagnose the issue although the issue is identified. I check the other contractors who do business with AHS, they all do the same trick. Even one contractor told me that they charged you differently by individual and through the AHS. Although the contract writes that it cover the new furnace and the installation fee, they only offer 600$ for cash in lieu. The offer for cash in lieu is only 1/3 of the money which can buy a furnace. It is the worst experience I have ever met. Don't trust AHS. Think it twice before doing business with it.
Good afternoon Robin,

Before you purchase a home warranty from AHS, seriously weigh the pros and cons. The pro is the assurance of having a warranty on your home appliances and systems. The con is that you'll only be able to have that assurance if you can get them to be responsive. 8 months ago, I initiated a claim on my whirlpool tub, which is covered under my contract. After numerous phone calls and hours on the phone with them, and after numerous assignments and reassignments of vendors for repair, a company finally came to the house to assess the tub in OCTOBER.
Despite all the time and effort it took to even get this far, AHS closed out the claim. In other words, by the time the contractor was attempting to obtain approval from AHS to make the repair, AHS had conveniently closed out the claim. I paid out of pocket for the repair, mostly because I am now 8 months pregnant and my bathtub in our master bath was otherwise unusable to help with pregnancy aches and pains. I am now attempting to receive reimbursement for the $400 service that should have been covered months ago under my contract. So, while a home warranty can give you back up, I hate to think that other customers would suffer through this scenario waiting for heat, water, or other critical systems to be repaired. I would not recommend.
Good afternoon Katie,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

I've had several very BAD experiences with AHS but the current one takes the cake. I am currently without a refrigerator for almost 4 weeks. I had a tech come out within 24 hours, Good thing!. The tech said 7-10 days for the part. AHS said the part was too expense so they were ordering it. That put it out 10 additional days. Yesterday was the day the part was due in. I called the contractor who now says its due on 6 more days later. At no time has AHS called me or attempted to discuss what was going on with me. I had no idea that things were being delayed until I called. I have a family of 5 and we have no refrigerator for a month or more. I called AHS today and all their computers are down and they can bring up any information. I thought I was benefiting from this warranty but with the waiting, the poor work and the fees, It is not worth it. I will be terminating with this poor company.
I would like to thank you for your feedback about your most recent American Home Shield experience. I hate to hear about the lack of communication that was endured and the refrigerator repairs that need to be completed. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved.

When calling this company, you have to go around the maypole to get to actually speak to someone. The online service is difficult to navigate and find what you need to do. When you actually get to speak to someone, he has a thick foreign accent (very nice man but he was hard to understand). One of the companies that this AHS contracts with is useless; Peacher Plumbing. They have come out several times without resolving the issue and they made a MESS which they did not clean up. I had to call a local private plumber to take care of my problems and they were wonderful but it cost me a fortune. The company that comes to take care of my swimming pool pump and plumbing is GREAT but they have to jump through hoops to get "authorization" to do the work and they are very competent in that matter. The warranty company I had previously (HMS) was worse, but that's another story.

Paid extra to cover our pool and spa. Had a few issues, so they dispatched a local tech to inspect. After 3 different companies were sent out for second opinions, nothing was covered. 1. Lights in pool and spa - not covered at all. I was not aware of this 2. Pump/Filter - since it powers on, the actuators which turn the valves are not covered. So much for keeping my system 'operating normally'. AHS expects me to manually turn valves and no longer have the control panel do it. Control panels not covered. I wasn't aware of this either. 3. Heater. Smelled a gas leak, so I contacted my gas company.
They found it to be the line to the spa. For SAFETY reasons, they cut and capped the line to the spa. AHS response was that since the gas company cut the line, they would not be able to inspect it. What was I supposed to do? Let it keep leaking until they came out? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They make the adage of warranties being for the less intelligent true.

Both my washer and dryer were not working and when I called American Home Shield, I was satisfied 100% with the rep who started the claim. The guy from Alejo Electric was good and he knew exactly what he was doing. He was very quick to determine what the problem was. For my dryer, a part was missing, so he had to do that and for the electrical, my washer had no connection going to it. He fixed it and the service went very well. Since then, both the washer and the dryer have been working good.

There was another home repair company and it was not good. We saw American Home Shield on television and then we saw some of their reviews online. We got their home warranty and when I have a claim, it's done very quickly. We call them and the reps give us a window of 4 hours to expect a contractor. The contractors that have been out were good and professional. When Sears came out, their guy showed up right on time and he did what needed to be done. He was really nice. The parts that were ordered from the first contractor that was sent out were installed, and everything's working normal now.
Having American Home Shield warranty is a good idea to do. If you're a homeowner, it's a good thing especially if you don't have the cash savings and things on hand for anything that can spontaneously happen. It could be over $300 at any given time. 'Cause there are things in your house that can be problematic and it can happen all of a sudden, especially if you're not the original homeowner or been in your home for less than five years.

I called in for my washer and dryer and my stove. Tech ordered the part which took almost two weeks to come. The guy showed up today to fix the washer and dryer, and it couldn't be fixed. So, we wasted two weeks on that. And I didn't know when they were gonna come out and fix it until I called them to find out what the status was yesterday. As far as the stove, it was infested with bugs and it had a rodent in it. The problem with that is the stove was in the house when I bought it. I was a little bit upset by that because that problem occurred prior to me getting the house. I didn't hear from anybody about that until I needed to find out what was going on.
The vendors let me know when they're coming, and they're real good at that. But if there's a problem that they can't fix, they should notify the customer as soon as possible. I wasted two weeks thinking my stove was gonna be fixed. I was there when the guy looked at the stove. I didn't know whether it could be fixed or not but he didn't make an attempt to fix it regardless of the problem he saw. He just said, "I'm not fixing it," then walked on out. I wanted cook for Christmas, and two of the front has burned out.
I'm not always dissatisfied with American Home Shield because they do come out especially when I need heat, and they're good about fixing things. It's the companies that they select that's not relaying the information timely. I would recommend them because they have been generous to me in fixing things. They're customer-friendly and they respond quickly when I call in a request. When my heat was out, the gentleman put in a special request and I appreciated that. When they called it in, the tech came out when they said they were gonna come. I also enjoy them notifying when the contractor's about to come out and who has the order. I felt pretty good when I was getting those emails. If the contractors are running late, they should let us know that. In my case, I'm back and forth to the doctor so I have to find someone to come in my home to be here once somebody comes out until I get back home.

I'm a dummy and I've kept American Home Shield since 1995. However, I keep paying more and more every year and the services keep getting cut back. If things aren't getting replaced, they're getting repaired or provided poor replacements. Sometimes, they even send out poor service calls, and the last couple haven't done a good job. I complained about my faucets dripping in my bathroom and the plumber came, so I had to pay $75. I paid $75 for him to tell me that the faucets are not covered, so my faucet is still dripping. 20 years ago, that would've been repaired under our American Home Shield plan. But things keep changing and not to the advantage of the people who pay for the service. Anyway, in my latest claim, Lebach A1 Plumbing came out for my sink that is backed up and they did a great job. The plumber took a look at it, he listened to what I told him, and he fixed it. And I'm completely satisfied.

We were new to the area and we didn’t really know the best appliance people there. AHS always seemed to send out the best, so we continued to renew with them. When our refrigerator wasn’t hooked up, we had to wait. We were the ones who would connect it back to the water source. AHS's contractor, Service Max USA, said to call them when we got it hooked up. The customer service at American Home Shield is very easy to get ahold of. We've had them for 15 years and putting claims in is easy. When I needed to have a garbage disposal replaced, it went very smoothly. But I had an issue because I also had to have my furnaces replaced. I thought I had put in that I needed both of them worked on and they said there was only one claim so I had to do a second one. It was a little confusing. But the guy from Blue Star was fantastic. He came in and replaced the disposal in 20 minutes. He made sure everything was working right. I was very happy.
AHS needs more coverage on some things. The garbage disposal was no charge, aside from the $75 fee and it went very smoothly. For the furnaces, it seemed like they didn’t pay a whole lot and I ended up paying extra for a lot of little compliance issues. They’ve been marked up quite high so that the contractor could make some money and I felt like I paid more of that than they did.

The contractor that AHS sent was excellent. He was very prompt and very thorough with what he was doing, except I have had an issue since. The same issue has come up with the dishwasher. I wanted to get it repaired, but at the same time, I can’t afford another $125. I did not contact AHS because I thought they're gonna take the $125 out of my account right away and I didn't want that to happen. It seems like once we put the claim in, they'd charge us right away, which I can’t complain. But being this was the third time for the same problem and it reached a point where I could buy a new dishwasher for that. I've been with AHS for four years now and usually they have good prompt service, but sometimes you don’t always have to go with the cheapest. But at times in the past, they go with the rock-bottom that they can possibly find. And sometimes I just don’t agree with cheapest is always the best, but that’s just me.

He didn't tell me that he was waiting for something to show up or something that would work, and the only other option would have been to replace the whole stovetop. The timeframe was a bit slow. I wanted it done that day and it didn't get done. But then again, he had to wait for the part. The burner is not being made anymore, but he got one in there. He's been pretty good with communication.
One burner's still out and that's the one I use all the time. The way the stovetop is, the backburners are hot and reaching across the others, it's warm. So, I use the front burners like this one. I like that with American Home Shield, especially with this claim, I could never have found the part. I tried two or three burners myself and they didn't work. But the guy found it.

May Heating & Air did a little routine maintenance where they came out and made sure my heating system was operational, and they did a good job. The only negative I have is sometimes, the company that American Home Shield assigns to me for an issue is not very responsive. I've had to call back at times and say, "How about giving me somebody else." I usually call in and it's fairly easy, but a change has been made to where now they charge you upfront. I'm not sure I'm wild about that because I had one which I was charged and I thought it was something I was covered for. When the people came out, they said, "You're not covered for this." And I had to pay for it anyway. That miscommunication was with American Home Shield. They should have said, "You're not covered for this." They should also quit raising my rates.

The customer service representatives were very professional and very nice to talk to. The only problem is getting to talk to somebody and I'm sometimes on the line for more than an hour before I get to speak with someone. But once I get somebody, I get help. In a recent claim, they told me the first time they called us, “There's no one in your area that can do the service.” I told them, “I’ll call the Better Business Bureau or something because you told me you have service in my area.” And then the very next day, they scheduled Eckert & Sons Professional Services. So, it’s like they first tried not to send someone out. Other than that, the tech came out and he was really a nice guy. I struggled in the beginning to get a hold of him because the number he had of me was incorrect. But once he got the correct number, he scheduled the appointment, came right out, and took care of the problems.
American Home Shield could definitely send out a check much faster. There's no reason for them to sit on that check for six weeks because I’m the one making those payments on the credit card. I don’t get reimbursed for that part of the credit card that that runs in interest. They said, “It will only take two weeks.” And I had to call them three different times. I got it in the end and we got our stuff taken care of, but it feels like I have to be persistent and I had to keep on calling them. They have good ratings and bad ratings online, and if you wanna get what you want, you’re gonna have to be persistent.

We asked him to replace, but he keeps saying it can't be replaced until it's completely jammed and left. I unjammed multiple times with wrench to get it working.
Eventually, it became so tight, even it's harder using a wrench to unjam it. Now the technician arrived and replaced the garbage disposal, but he FORGOT the connection to Dishwasher and left. Once we turned on dishwasher, there is flood of water all over my wooden kitchen floor. It costed us considerable amount of time and effort to drain the wooden floors/dining area/kitchen mats. Next day the contractor came and keeps arguing that a screw to connect both worn out and the tube fell off, which he should have noticed when replacing the unit. Need to go back and forth from office to home, each time to get it fixed, causing us huge pain & discomfort. A mere 15-20 min job of replacing took almost 2.5 months and number of calls between home warranty & contractors. Totally disappointed.

I called AHS on December 3rd for an auto request to fix my Panda compact dryer. The automated service misunderstood me and told AZ Value Appliances that my dryer was a Kenmore. I spoke with AZ Value and explained it was a compact Panda dryer not a Kenmore, at which they stated that they don't work on Panda dryers, and they never sent a tech out. I had to make two more calls to AHS on Wednesday, December 4th for them to call AZ Value and confirm that no tech was sent, which they finally did. Then, AHS transferred my request to Nana Services, and they stated the earliest that they could come and diagnose my dryer was Saturday between 8a-Noon. I spoke with Stephanie at Nana who confirmed that they do work on Panda dryers, and AHS received the same response.
Justin finally arrived after 12 noon on Saturday, never texted his ETA, after I called his company twice to ensure his arrival. When he arrived, he came with another male technician, and he advised me 4 times that his company does not work on Panda dryers. I told him that his company said he does, which infuriated him. He said he can't diagnose any problems because he has never worked on a Panda dryer, and then he stated because the compact dryer weighing less than 20 lbs was sitting on some brackets, it would take THREE men to take the brackets and dryer down and properly diagnose it. He also alleged it would take over 8 hours to repair 'IF' AHS would even approve such a long and expensive repair.
I immediately called AHS and all that I was getting is customer service agents in the Philippines, each time I would ask to be transferred to a US based c/s center, they would either say this is not possible or they would hang up on me. I asked for a manager several times, and was transferred to another outsourced representative in the Philippines who stated that if AHS cancels their request with Nana prior to receiving a diagnosis, they would charge me an additional service fee of $100.00.
Ok, so let's do the math here, I'm paying $48.99 per month for my service contract with AHS, and $100.00 for each service call. Keep in mind that I can purchase a brand new Panda compact dryer 3.25 cu feet for $249.00 at Walmart, Home Depot and other US companies. I called back Nana, and they confirmed that although Justin did document that he doesn't work on Panda dryers because his supervisor said he does, he would be the one that they would resend out to diagnose the dryer??? I asked to speak with a manager, and was told by Stephanie, Shakara, and Taipan at Nana that no supervisor is readily available and they only communicate via email with managers. No manager ever called back?
I called back AHS, by this time I'm been without a dryer for nearly two weeks, and again got the outsourced c/s rep with the Philippines, asked for a manager again, this time in billing, spoke with Leo, who claimed he was a supervisor of AHS in the Philippines who stated that he would finally refund my service fee of $100.00, but he needed to transfer me to a cancellation department in order to cancel my contract with AHS. Wow! This is the first and only time that I spoke with a rep from AHS in the United States. She said she will cancel my contract and refund my credit card for the monthly contract fees of 48.99. My last TWO WEEKS have been HELL thanks to Nana Services and American Home Shield Warranty company!

The last visit the technician said as he installed the 2nd new ice maker, “if this doesn’t fix it” I don’t know what else to do. He even noted it in his notes.
Still same thing wall of ice. This time I asked AHS to just resolve this and send in a new fridge at this point. They said they’d contact the appliance company and get back to me. A MONTH goes by nothing. I had to follow up with AHS. To which they replied “we need to send a technician out there to evaluate the situation.” They’ve sent someone out 5 times each time has ended with the same result. Now they want me to take yet another day off to wait for some guy from the SAME appliance repair place. (They can’t send a new company since it’s the same “recall” on the existing issue, if they sent a new company it would be a “new” issue.) So you’re going to send the same company who already sent a “master technician” last time because it wasn’t resolved 4 times ago.
It’s been 4 months. If they delay 6 more months they could probably say my contract is up. The online associate did everything to not let me escalate the issue (ignored my requests) until I specifically said “Please address my request for escalation directly.” Even then I had to simply repeat my request until she finally escalated saying someone will call me back in 1-2 business days. (Another delay). As you can see, everything they can do to delay my issue they are attempting to do. When I was ready to relent to accepting a tech but wanting them there that day, they said 3-4 days before the appliance center will contact me and send someone. More delays. I will never use AHS. You’re better off getting the premium upfront in your Realestate transaction to pay for whatever disaster might befall. You’re wasting your money with AHS.
Hi Jack,
I hate to hear about the delay in service that you have experienced to have the ice maker repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issues resolved!

I am currently with American Home Shield for 8 months and they have been very good. I pay a higher premium And I am a satisfied customer. They did my ac work this summer and my plumbing backed up in my home before 2 days before Thanksgiving. Raw sewage from shower, toilet, tubs, all had water coming up. It was a mess. They needed a special machine that they ordered so I was very disappointed that they couldn’t do it sooner so I signed up with Choice home warranty just in case they couldn’t do it. Cancellation in progress. AHS came out Dec 11, 2019, repaired it, saved me $700. I will keep them and pay that higher premium. They are worth every penny. The tech said, "We are not leaving till it’s working". I will cancel Choice home warranty. Did not have to try them. My mind is made up. AMERICAN Home SHIELD ROCKS....

They increased my monthly premium after a year which I didn't notice for several months. When I called they said they will credit me for the increase (30%+ due to inflation, apparently!), and transferred me to another representative (Jordan) who after 20 minutes of being on the call was trying to sell me to stay and charged me an administrative fee for cancellation. BIG SCAM, stay away from this company, or you will regret it!
Good Morning S K,

RE: Cooktop Repair, Orange County, CA. No cooktop function for 8 days. It's been a week and I still have no information on the status of my cooktop repair. I have called both the service contractor and the AHS offshore telephone center multiple times and get the runaround. This is my first month with this warranty plan and if this service doesn't make an immediate turnaround, it will be my last.
Good afternoon Anna,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

I call American Home Shield up and they take my information. Their reps were very nice, and, then, they will send me a text message on who the contractor is going to be and they call me and set up the time. The only thing that they could improve service on are the companies that they send out. They need to check onto them a little bit better. While the people that they've sent out to my house for my heater did my thermostat and finally fixed the problem, if you read their online reviews, they were not that great. But it was the only one that they have around in my area. They need to upgrade who they sent out to people's houses.

American Home Shield sent AAA Appliance Doctor, and we were surprised that a woman came out to repair the refrigerator. That was new to me, but she was wonderful. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she took care of the problem. She fixed it for us. She was extremely helpful. I asked her a couple of other questions about filters, which was not what she was called for, but she was also helpful in showing me how to determine what I need and how to put it in and take it out as needed. And we have since bought the filters and done that. We’re very pleased. I was completely satisfied.

Having a warranty was a good thing and I've been protected with American Home Shield for three years now. Submitting a claim to them was excellent. I usually go online and the process was easy. The contractors that they've sent out have been good. With the recent claim, the tech from JL Services came out and he was awesome. He changed a couple of parts and got everything back to normal. Everything is now functioning really good. It has been a very satisfactory experience. I'll definitely recommend American Home Shield.

I wanted a home warranty to be comfortable. I heard about American Home Shield through a friend, and I've had them for about a year now. My experience in submitting a claim is excellent and I can expect the contractors out in day or two. Then, everything's good with the contractors. So, I feel comfortable every time I have a problem, since I call and it's taken care of.

He completed the work the way he said he would, everything arrived on time and he completed the job. It was absolutely great. American Home Shield had everything that I needed online and answered all my questions, and they rapidly scheduled my appointment for a repair.

American Home Shield is a better home warranty company than a different one that I would have gone with so I decided to have them. Recently the pilot light kept going out. It wasn’t working. I did the claim online and AHS responded right away, within the next 30 minutes. The contractor showed up on time. The first time when they diagnosed it they took 30 minutes, and then they returned back the next day when they got the equipment. Everything went great. It was nice, quick and painless. I had to pay more than the regular service fee, but that was okay because I ended up getting a new furnace. So that was wonderful.

Having Home Shield's warranty is wonderful, and it's easier for me who is a 71-year-old. They've gone up on their rates, but it's still okay. I've been with them for 9 years now and I continue to renew because I'm elderly and I live by myself. I only had one vendor that I didn’t like as they seemed to be a little bit racist, but that’s okay too. In a recent claim, my washing machine wasn’t spinning and Astro Appliance came out for it. The guy was very nice, polite, and professional. He was also fast and very informative.

There was a crack in the tank of our toilet and there was a leak. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and my interaction with the rep was very good. Accent Plumbing went out and the repair went smoothly. It was so quick and they were really nice guys. They have to leave my house to get a part. They said they’d be back, they went in and everything was back to normal. The whole thing was replaced. That was what they said was the best route. Everything seems to be going well since then. It was a very positive experience all the way around.

The heater was not coming on so I filed a claim online. One technician from Lux Air Engineering came out and he was very thorough. He had to go up in the attic to take a look. He thought it was something he could not fix, and then he kept looking and he realized it was something else that he could fix. He was quick and was able to take care of it with one visit. Everything went great. I've been very pleased. I've had Sears before for a couple of years and I've had problems with them many times. So, I am very happy with American Home Shield.
