Every time American Home Shield calls, they say wait for the people to contact me, but I don’t. I call them immediately and make an appointment. We had a gathering one Saturday and the thing that held the Freon in my air conditioner had rotted out in the bottom. They said the contractor couldn’t come out the following Monday, and I told them, “I got 50 people coming here. I cannot be here without air.” They went ahead and made the appointment. Burleson had to totally replace that and I had to buy all the Freon. I had to spend almost $600 on it. Air is working wonderful though, better than it has in years.

I got American Home Shield so that if I have a problem, I will call them. When our hot water was not working, I called them and the reps I spoke with were very nice. They said they will call me, so they called me the date. Gaithersburg Plumbing came out to fix it, but they didn’t fix it right. The water was cold so they had put the hot water. But when they came in, they put the lower number. They didn’t put the hot water on the right place. So, we have to call for the second one. Other than that, they’re okay.

My claim where Garage Doors and More came out went real well. The garage door wouldn’t open up. The spring broke on it. The guy was very good, courteous, and efficient too. He did the job without a problem.

American Home Shield's claim process was easy. I called and they made me the appointment the next day. Texas Best Heating & Air came out, replaced a part, and fixed it. They did great, everything went good, and I was happy.

The back of the toilet was leaking because the pipes were clogged. The guy from Home Pros had to come in, snake it out, and blow it out. Once he did that, it started working again. He was fantastic and he explained to me what he was doing. Since he came out, everything has been perfect. American Home Shield, overall, is easy.

It was just a big mess dealing with Home Shield. I’m about to cancel my service with them because they charged me $75 for a company that came out on December 24 who left me with something not working and telling me that it’s gonna have to be replaced. On December 26th, they said they would be calling me to replace it, not telling me that it was something that I’d have to pay for. It wasn’t covered by the warranty. They were trying to sell me a brand new garbage disposal for thousands of dollars. Then they made up a story that there was little, tiny rocks of some sort stuffed in my garbage disposal, which I knew was not true because I didn’t have any little, tiny rocks that would even be around my garbage disposal. So I put a light in there and a camera, and I took a picture myself and it shows nothing in there.
I called Home Shield all day and then two of their representatives said that since nobody responded in four hours, that I need to call my own plumber out, then they would take care of the cost of anything. But two of their other customer service reps including a supervisor said that was wrong information, because you can’t have your own plumber come out when they’re coming out to check the diagnosis of the first person, besides disagreeing with it. So everybody was all messed up, and no one knows what they were talking about.
A whole day later, Home Shield finally got someone out here. That guy came, and he was here for less than a minute. He said that I didn’t need a new garbage disposal, and he didn't see any rocks. He put his wrench in there, did something and it worked immediately, within a minute. So it was all a bunch of BS from the first company that they sent out. And then the customer service I got from Home Shield was so horrible. I must’ve made about 12 to 15 calls to them that day, and just because they kept getting disconnected. No one would call back. It was a whole nightmare. So the least that they could do is reimburse my $75 back to me, otherwise, I’m gonna cancel my policy with them. I also have seven other rentals I have it with, and I’m gonna have them all cancelled. It’s not about the money but it cost me that much of my time dealing with them on the phone. And then they had a company come out who completely lied. I’m not okay with that.

Overall, I’m very happy with American Home Shield because it’s a great value for the dollar. Plus I know that I don’t have to shop around, find somebody and get bids. But once in a while, we get some of these contractors who seem like they don’t wanna do the job and then I have to get a second opinion. I would wait five days for the first guy to come out and then I would have to wait five more days for a second opinion. Sometimes, there are also critical issues like air conditioning in a heat wave. I would like to have the better guy the first time.
I’m not a big fan of the way they select contractors. I don’t know how they select them, whether it’s a lottery or whatever. But when you go through online, they select who comes out and three times, I’ve had vendors come out who, for whatever reason, said that I didn’t have a problem. One issue was my air conditioner. It was 96 degrees in the house and the contractor said the air conditioning was working fine. No, it wasn't. But they told American Home Shield that everything was fine. So I asked for a second opinion and American Home Shield sent somebody else out. EF Mechanical found the problem and solved it immediately, and I’m glad that they did but my mom is 94 years old and we had to put her in another place because it took almost two weeks to finally get the right person. You have a reasonable expectation of getting service done promptly and not have to go through the queue again.
I had another experience with American Home Shield with a plumber. There was a leak around the base of the toilet so I called American Home Shield up and they sent a plumber out. But the plumber determined that the floor in my bathroom was not level and that’s why it was leaking. That was pretty frustrating because it was a brand new slab that had been recently poured, and it was absolutely perfectly level because I had put a level on it. So I called American Home Shield for a second opinion and somebody else came out. They looked at it and said the seal on the bottom of the toilet had deteriorated. They pulled the toilet up and replaced the wax seal, which probably cost six bucks, and everything has been fine since then.
So there are vendors or contractors who come out that, apparently, don’t wanna do the work and that’s a waste of my time. That's considering the length of time it took to deal with the bathroom and the toilet we couldn’t use. If I can talk to somebody and not do the claim online, then there can be more of an interactive conversation on something like that that’s really important, rather than dealing with voicemail. I could have told American Home Shield not to send certain people because I’ve had a problem with them before.
That first AC contractor had also told me that the intake vent in the hallway was a fake and it wasn’t connected to anything. What does he know though? When I had my house rebuilt after the earthquake and all the walls were off, I saw, with my own eyes, the tubing to the vents being installed. So for him to come out and say that, without even looking at it, it told me right there that he doesn’t even wanna be there. But once I got the right guy out and I told him, he laughed when I told him it was a fake vent. To have someone come out and tell me that the vents are fake or my that brand new poured slab is not level is really insulting and I don’t need those kind of people coming out.
Then again, when I talk to American Home Shield and I request a second opinion, I get the other person out. And if I got the right person, American Home Shield stood behind the warranty and we got the work done. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. The contractors have been very nice as well and EF Mechanical is a great company. I had a water heater issue that was repaired and that was fine.

I rented earlier and the homeowners had American Home Shield, who came out on several occasions to fix stuff. I was very pleased with the interactions, the quality of the work and everything that was done by the contractors, and AHS's responsiveness. Appliance Magic had to order a part, and it hasn't come in yet. Nonetheless, I liked the tech guy. His name is John and he explained everything to me as we went along. I also had an issue with my shower and A & D Plumbing had to replace the thing in the shower to control the water. The tech was fine too.

Our AC unit kept freezing out and we submitted a claim to AHS. They sent Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing and when all was said and done, the guy said that the AC was supposed to do what it was doing. They sped up the time when they defrosted it. The tech was cool and according to my wife, he was very reassuring. She was very worried about the floor but she was much more at ease after the tech talked to her. Having this warranty has been very valuable. We signed up for another year.

The wall vent was making a lot of sounds in one bathroom, and it wasn’t working. I called it in at American Home Shield and the tech from MCI was good. The problem was solved in the same day and I'm happy with that.

Something went out on the heating unit and it wouldn't come on. It lost power. Myers Comfort came out and did something. The unit is working now. The first guy said it was an electrical problem and it wasn't. So, they sent an electrical guy out, and he said it was a heating problem. They then sent somebody else back out. The second technician was great.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 10 years and their service is prompt. I had a plumbing issue but it was just a little sliver of bone stuck in my garbage disposal that would not let it run. So, it was $75 for nothing. The contractor got it out and he was extremely nice, and my disposal is fine.

Three Brothers A/C and Heating came out to check my rental property's systems because nothing's working. But all it ended up was being a fuse or something along those lines and so it was a simple repair. They just said they took care of it and they were done. So, it was quick.

Home Appliance Solutions came out for my microwave. The fellow diagnosed the problem, but he did not solve it. He replaced the switches, and then he took it off the walls and then the counter. He said, “Look, it seems to work,” and then he put it in the wall. He then said that it must be the circuit breaker and my circuit line, but I said that I did not think that was what was going on and that I would call my electrician. He was good, though, and he also suggested to replace it.
I then called my electrician and he came out immediately. He said that the circuit was fine and there was nothing wrong with it. He said that there must be an internal issue with the microwave that could not be repaired. And that was why we went ahead and replaced it. I purchased exactly the same appliance. I had to go to Richmond, Virginia to buy and pick it up from a Sears outlet store there because that was the only one that had it in the vicinity. I wanted that exact microwave because it matched my other appliances. Plus, it fit in the exact hole that I had. American Home Shield has already sent me a check for the replacement. On this particular experience, I was very satisfied.

I phoned American Home Shield on a Friday and their contractor, Active Appliance Service, was not gonna come until the 27th, five days later. I thought about it and I realized that the message I was getting on the dishwasher was computer-like error. I’ve had experience with other appliances where if you see something like that, you unplug, and then it resets itself. And that was what happened. So, there was an issue. I think what happened was every now and then, I have to clean it and when I put back the O-ring in the arm, I probably didn’t place it right and that caused it to send me that error message. So, I solved the problem on my own.
I've had American Home Shield for at least 20 years. They do cover our pump well. I've had Sears and I don’t recall that they covered that. And then my husband already had an experience with American Home Shield and he said, “Well, if it works, why change it?” Submitting claims to them has been easy. Although I had a little difficulty when both my husband and I tried to reach them. Apparently, they only allow one email, so we both can’t contact. Now, if he has an issue and he tries to log in, he can’t. We both have to use the same email. That issue wasn’t that great, but it would be helpful. And it's not so good that they were gonna take that long to come out and repair my dishwasher. One other issue was they have a big window of 12:00 to 5:00 when they can come out. So, you lose a whole day there. Nonetheless, the contractors that they send out are professional. English is not their main language, but I don’t have a problem communicating with them.

I have a heat pump so the AC outside unit comes on and it was making a weird noise when the fan would come on and go off. I filed a claim on the app and then I got a thing saying who was coming. There was also like a little map of where he was and how long it would take him to get here. They said that the tech was on his way at 9:00, and nobody was at my house that time. Someone from Wallace Plumbing called me and I asked if I could get another day as I was having chemo that morning and my husband won't be back until later 'cause he was at a doctor's appointment. The woman on the phone said it would be the next Monday before they could get out so I asked if we could do it later in the morning. She said, "Yeah, I'll see if he can come." She said it would be between 8:00 and 11:00 or 9:00 and 11:00, and I said, "Well, 11:00 would be better." The tech got to our home before my husband did but it was fine.
I gave the tech the code to my door, so he went ahead and started doing whatever he needed to do and then my husband arrived home. The tech said it was just a noise that those heat pumps make and he didn't do anything to it so it still makes the noise. He said it's something to do with the Freon in the lines. When it comes on or something, it does something and it makes that noise. He said it was a normal noise but I’ve had a heat pump before and I never heard it make that noise. It wasn't making that noise when we first got to our home. But I haven't used the heater until I came home in the end of October so I don't know if it's just something with the heater or if the air conditioner's supposed to make that noise too. Still, I've used American Home Shield twice so far and I haven't had any problems with them. I was choosing among 3 providers and they seemed to be the best. I also asked my cousin who had used them and he said they were good.

I'm a realtor and personally, I really like what American Home Shield offers. Both times that I've had it, we've had slow service. But we lived in Waterford, Oklahoma and almost all the contractors were coming from Oklahoma City. Now we live in El Reno, so we have a little bit of an issue getting contractors out here. But everyone that they have sent out has been good to us. They've always taken care of the problem. We're not a super handy family, so it's been really nice for us to be able to keep costs down with the coverage.
Legacy 4 came out late November to replace the water heater that was leaking. However, I had multiple people out before we actually hired them. When I originally placed the call, American Home Shield could not find anybody in the four-hour window. So, they allowed it to be where we could go outside and hire somebody else. We brought in another company, Airco, and they waited and tried to get approval through American Home Shield. When I called back in to see if they had approved it, American Home Shield told me for some reason, both claims were dropped. And so, they issued a new claim, several days after the original claim. Legacy 4 called me and said that they were put on that new claim. It was pretty drawn out from the time that I actually filed it 'til we got the repair work done.

I've been on and off with American Home Shield. There was another competitor that I had in another residence that I had for rental. But I’ve been with American Home Shield for quite a few years and I’m pleased with their service. I really liked Intercity Plumbing who came out to fix a plumbing issue. They were on time, efficient, called before, and did what I expected. The gentleman who did the service was very helpful and he didn’t try to push anything. The experience was really good. There are some things that need to be done that aren’t part of the home warranty and I’m gonna be calling them back to do that.

My refrigerator was freezing. The damper was broken and I submitted a claim with AHS online. I got an email back that said that they processed my copay and it was assigned to AT Appliances with a phone number, but the company would call me. Their reviews were pretty awful, but the guy that came out was great. He figured out what was wrong and they ordered the parts. Then they called me when it came in and then they came out and fixed it. Now, the refrigerator is not freezing my food, so I'm happy. Also, I was trying to get a screw undone and I had stripped it. I didn't have the right tools. Then I went upstairs and when I came back downstairs, the tech got the screw out for me. He was a really nice guy.

We bought the property last year, and when we bought it, we got some notice from some AC company down here that they would do a 30-point check for $30. So, when we came back this year, we had it done and they found other things wrong, and they were thinking we needed a new system. So I decided to use AHS and they seemed to think we didn’t need a new system. There were two young men and they were very good. They were nice to work with. They did a good job. We ended up spending $700. The system seems to be working okay. And so it went pretty well. We are very happy with AHS.

I've been with AHS for a couple of years now. I checked out Consumer Reports and they said AHS was pretty good, and so that’s what I went with. And then there were some other people that talked to me about it. I’m 72 and I didn’t wanna be sitting with the prospect of an air conditioner or something very expensive going out on the house and having to pay an $8,000 bill to fix it. This way, I’d rather go ahead and pay AHS 40 bucks a month or whatever I’m paying, and know that if it goes out, AHS is gonna come out and fix it or replace it, I’m good.
I submitted a claim to AHS because our garage door opener wasn’t functioning correctly. They said somebody would be in contact with me and he was. He called me within a few hours. The contractor did a good job. They came out and they told me what was wrong. They said there was some maintenance that needed to be done. It was gonna take a couple of days ‘cause it was right over the day before Christmas when it stopped working. And then he came out and put it back on very efficiently. It took him about 10 - 15 minutes. I asked him, when he said the maintenance, what maintenance I lacked and what maintenance is required on the garage door. So, he told me what to do and how to maintain it. He fixed it. I’m happy.

The heat wasn't coming on at all, and it ended up being the thermostat. We needed a new thermostat and Cool Experts took care of it. I find no difficulty with submitting claims as it's fairly easy. I can do it online or I can call AHS.

American Home Shield covers more things than most policies. Plus they have changed their program since the very beginning 'cause now you can see it a lot easier. Recently the fellow that came from American Star was excellent. He scheduled the appointment and came when he said. He looked at the issue and replaced what was needed. And he also went a little further. He lubed the garage door so it didn't make noise. I asked him about programming my car door opener on my car, and he did that. I was very, very happy with him. I also had him do one extra thing where I had him put a seal on which I had to pay extra for.

When I called AHS and told them that the air conditioner's fan wasn't running and it got super hot, they told me that someone was gonna contact me within 24 hours. The contractor contacted me and I ended up setting up an appointment. They then came out and I ended up being very satisfied.

I had American Home Shield previously in my house before the one that I'm in right now for a year. Then when we bought the house that I'm currently in, the seller gave us a different home warranty for the previous year. Once that home warranty ran out, we went back to American Home Shield. And then, I did a claim for a plumbing issue and everything went really great.
Our water heater was leaking and it was kind of nerve-racking. The Home Shield people were really nice because they called and got someone to help immediately that day as soon as the plumbing open. The plumbing people got out quickly and they were on time and attentive. The plumber said it was not fixable so he told Home Shield that they needed to replace it. AHS then called me and they went over what the warranty covered and everything that we had to do. It happened in a span of four days, and they were able to get the plumber back in to change off to a new water heater. And everything has been great so far. It was over the holidays, so we're happy that they were able to get it done even though it was holiday time.

Right before Christmas, the washer sink in the laundry room was leaking. The sink in my first floor washroom also had a drip which was causing my water bill to be high. AHS got those two sinks fixed. It was good service. The plumber was out here immediately and told me what he did at the time. This was my second claim and so far, I've been satisfied. For the air conditioner claim, the contractor had to come out multiple times to get down to the problem. The last one got prolonged because I had to wait some extra couple of days because the company said that they were being inspected and they had to deal with their inspection.

I got American Home Shield after I did some brief research and it seemed like they're the best one for what I needed. I've had them since middle to the end of October and they fixed one problem but they couldn’t do another problem. Apparently, it was not covered. I didn’t quite understand it, but that’s what I was told. Navigating through the website to submit a claim was very easy since I’m good with that kind of stuff.
I filed a claim for some faucets that weren’t working and the website immediately said that Galloway Plumbing was the contractor. Galloway contacted me the same day and then they got to the house the very next day, so it worked out really well. The techs were both very professional and straight to the point. They turned on the valve and checked the one upstairs. They were only there for about an hour and had me fixed up so it was well worth it. It was an easy fix and they did really well. Everything has been functioning well since they’ve been out.

The guy from Tennessee Plumbing opened the wall and saw that the overflow from the drain from the bathtub had leaked. Now, I have a nasty stain on the ceiling that was not covered under my warranty as it was considered to be secondary. I spent $20 this morning on rubber gloves, cotton balls and a tweezer so I can get up on a chair and see if I could manage to deal with the ceiling and make it look any better. I spent my first Christmas in my brand-new house with a big, fat moldy looking spot in my dining room ceiling and I've spent more money on the house than I've ever spent on a house in my lifetime. I walk in the front door and I gotta look at the stain on my ceiling. But that's not American Home Shield's fault in its entirety.
I've had American Home Shield warranty for 23 years. Currently, I have them on two houses. For a single mom like me, it's more comforting to know that if something happens, I can call and somebody is gonna come fix it. But now, in this case, I've got to get another contractor. I wasn't super thrilled. American Home Shield also called to tell me that they were denying my secondary damage. I'm fully aware of the fine print but I know for a fact that something had to be done. Because, if it didn't exceed $250, they would only repair it back to "rough finish" and then I have to get a Sheetrock or paint person to finish the rest of it. So, that's a new thing for me. I had actually pulled this contract and read that there was no longer any allowance for it. I thought it was funny that they were in a hurry to let me know they weren't gonna cover something.
This is the first time I've ever had a secondary damage and I was surprised when I found out that the service fee was $100 'cause I've been with AHS since my service fee was $25. The last one had gone up to 50 and then it had gone up to 75. I guess, every time I move, my service fee is gonna go up by $25. And then the home warranty was almost $300 more than whenever I started with American Home Shield. So, I spent $100, but then, I gotta spend another $100 to have a painter do the touch-up work.
I also had a problem when my microwave was broken. They kept trying to fix the piece and I kept telling them it wasn't working right. They would come and say it was, and it took six visits before they finally said that they would replace the microwave. And then, I forgot about sending them the receipt and they wouldn't give me the money back for microwave that I had paid out of pocket for. But they did install it.
On the other hand, American Home Shield now has a rekeying service which is a great idea. I was trying to get stuff moved in. I told the lock company that came out that I would like to set a deadbolt on the door in front of the basement because I'm probably gonna turn that into an apartment. I know that they only cover keying six locks and I had maybe one or two locks more than what was covered but they were willing to do them all in that one appointment and not make me have to make another appointment. And so, I was highly pleased with that service. That didn't take up any more of my time. And it was legit! The rep wrote it up on the invoice and said that the more locks you do, then the rekeying becomes less expensive.

My dryer stopped working. It was working but there was no heat. American Home Shield's claims process was fine. I made the claim, paid the $100, and I got a call within a day. The repairman from Amtec Services came out, diagnosed the issue quickly as the heat pump and he ordered it. It took 7 to 10 days to get the part, but as soon as they got the part, they called me and I was able to get it fixed quickly.

When I had a leak, I called AHS and I paid my fee on the phone. The contractor came out and fixed it within 30 minutes or so.

I've been with American Home Shield since about 2006, and every year, I continue with them. Their service is very good. I'm very happy with them. I continue every year because it seemed like if something goes wrong in my house, then mostly everything has been covered. And they're excellent about coming out. If I call at midnight and it's something, usually the next morning, they give me a call or else I have their phone number and usually, they're out that day. So, they've been wonderful. I highly recommend them.
I had a claim where AHS sent A+ Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling. They were very good and did an excellent job. They were friendly and took care of what needed to be done! We had to have them out a couple of times but we got it all taken care of. They had to have a fan replaced and they had to order that before they could come out and put it in. They came out and put it in for me, and everything has been fine.

I called American Home Shield about a few plumbing problem, they sent 2 plumbers out to check problems. They reviewed faucet leaking, leaking water from drain, #3 shower would not come on in main bathroom. We are in process of selling home and had to get a local plumber to repair. We have 2 policies in effect, 1 from realtor, and 1 from personal home policy, both cover plumbing, after plumbers submitted claim to American Home Shield, they refused, said problems not covered. I am in the process of contacting the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. The real slap in the face is they charged me $75.00 service call.

I am very unhappy with the service that I have received from both American Home Shield and the contractors that they use to complete the repairs. Today's date is Dec. 23 and I put in the original repair request in on Nov 15th for my refrigerator because it had stopped making ice and then the next day the entire thing quit cooling. We called and made the request on Friday the 15th and a repair person came out on the following Monday, 18th, and said that it was a compressor but that he didn't work on compressor so we would have to have someone else come out. We contacted AHS and they were unable to get a repair person to come until December 11th and when he did come he checked the refrigerator and agreed that it was the compressor but he didn't have the parts to fix it so he orders them. They were delivered to our house two days later but the service tech could not return until Dec. 18th.
On the 18th of December we were called by the outside contractor and told that someone had called out and they would not be able to get to us and we would need to contact AHS to reschedule the appointment. I did this. When I called AHS and explained the situation they told me the soonest appointment they could give me was Dec. 26th. I asked to speak to a manager for the second time because that was unacceptable to me. I was then told they would try to get me sooner appointment and they did. They sent someone out on the 20th and he fixed the compressor. The tech told us that the reason the ice maker didn't work was the compressor and to give it a day or two and it would start working. Today is the 23rd and it is still not working.
My refrigerator has also started to leak since the 20th and when I called to get someone back out to fix it I was told that the soonest would be the 30th of Dec. When I said that was unacceptable because of the water leaking all over my floor, under the refrigerator where I can't get to it, they have all but refused to let me speak to a manager. I am waiting on hold currently and have been for 1 hour and 15 minutes to speak with a manager. During this time I have been wait the representative came on the phone three time to try and tell me why I don't need to speak with a manager. I find this to be completely crazy and considering this is a renewable service I am shocked they would behave this way.

My HVAC went out in December of 2018, They came out and said my compressor needed to be replace. They said they would cover parts and labor but I had to pay for Freon. The refrigerant price per lb was higher than all contractors I called and checked with, $900 bill. I reluctantly paid it. New compressor was installed in Feb 2019. Only 3 days went by before the re-manf compressor was bad again. The contractor who installed it covered it and installed another re-manf compressor. Now it's Dec-2019 and my compressor is bad again. Makes a horrible screeching noise. AHS said it's outside of the contractor's warranty and I'd have to pay another refrigerant bill if I wanted them to replace this compressor again. I have had it with AHS, so I have called in five times to cancel my plan, only to be hung up on every time I state I want to cancel my plan. Worst company ever! Do not give them your money, find a different provider.

American Home Shield is trying to charge me $75 for a service call that never happened. I fixed the issue before anyone ever responded and they’re telling me that even though NO service was performed (no one even showed up to my home), that I still owe them $75. Now I’ve got another problem with an air conditioner that just occurred and they WILL NOT dispatch a repair company because they’re saying “my account” has a $75 balance that has to be paid. Do not purchase from American Home Shield!!! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE PROCESS IS TERRIBLE AND WILL ONLY CREATE MORE HEADACHES AND PROBLEMS!!!

My fridge/freezer has not been working since Aug 1. It's now Dec. 22. It's STILL not working. Customer service is outsourced to a foreign country. No supervisors available. I've had two different companies out, I've had dozens of home visits between the two companies, replacing the same parts over and over. If I had money I would have long ago gone out and bought a new one myself. The frustration and incompetence of this company is unreal. On top of it all, they charged me a second service fee for the same continuing problem. DO NOT BUY A WARRANTY FROM THEM! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

AHS' contractor came out for my oven and they were great. The guy looked at it and he knew what was wrong with it right away. They had to order a part, and then they came and fixed it. I’m not good at picking repair people, so I like that AHS has people who are licensed that they can send out. Also, I know exactly what I’m going to put out and that I’m not going to have to come out of pocket for a huge repair. AHS doesn't cover Freon, though, and it’s a big expense. Some of the other home warranty companies now are covering Freon.

Speaking to American Home Shield's customer service is fine. But getting to them might be harder. You can wait and wait and wait for somebody to pick up. There's some kind of a holding pattern. So the follow-up where you have to speak to a person is somewhat delayed and frustrating. Recently the contractor from GE Appliances got here and we had to wait for the part. There was an issue with FedEx last Christmas so the part took a while to get here. It was supposed to be a day or two, and ended up being five days before he could come back out and put the part in. Also the claim generally is just an online process, and that part goes smoothly. But sometimes it seems to hang up a little bit somewhere along the line. It happened when I had a washing machine replaced that they couldn't fix. But other than that, it's pretty good. The contractors they've sent were very good.

The technician from Superior Garage Doors did a great job. My husband was out there with him and it didn't take him long at all. He had to replace the little sensors down at the bottom. There was something that had to be replaced up at the top, the big unit. It was excellent. We've been with AHS for four years now and they’ve done a good job for us. We’ve had very good luck with them. So far, we’ve been very pleased with the contractors that they use. I only had one I got aggravated with a couple of years ago, it was another electrical. And it was on the fuse, that thing you push. I hadn't pushed it hard enough and he made me feel really stupid, which I’m not, but I’m not electrical. It was just his attitude. But other than that, they’ve all been very nice.

I've had American Home Shield for about 20 years, and it's been six consecutive years now. I left for a while, and then I came back as it's good not to have to call somebody out of the yellow pages, being blind when something breaks in the home. IGD Plumbing came out recently and we had them do some plumbing work for us. The tech was very positive and he communicated all the work that he was doing, and he was very good and open. One of the things I asked him was about the faucet in the kitchen. We have a Moen and it's an expensive faucet, and he said that they probably wouldn’t replace that if it broke, but they would replace it with a more inexpensive type of faucet. He also told me things that I could do to keep things like that from happening again.

My washing machine was making a loud noise when it was on the spin cycle. I called in a claim with AHS and I did the phone prompt. They gave me the name of the contractor, Bennett Appliance Repair, and said they would call me. The techs turned out to be very good. They were on time, friendly, and professional. They fixed the problem and everything has been performing well since the repair.

When I had just submitted my claim, AHS had somebody scheduled to come out right away. One of the three recessed lights in the kitchen would come on and then the other would go out. It would alternate between the three different cans where one light was gonna be on, and then sometimes they’d all be off. The contractor was definitely knowledgeable about the product and gave me good information about the length and how long it would last. So far, I’m really happy with AHS.

I had a heating issue and American Home Shield sent Central Heating & Air Conditioning out. The experience went good. The gentleman that did the service nailed it, and he’s done different things there before. I had put on there heating and air, and I know he was in a hurry at the time. I know that there’s a 60-day guarantee, but he didn’t check the heat on that like I was asking. But I know the heat would be coming on pretty soon, so so far, so good.
Overall, AHS does a great job. I know that I’ll always gonna have a problem with waiting, but most of the time, they’re pretty quick as far as the process of submitting claims goes. I don’t know if they treat everybody the same as far as the contractors cause I know like for plumbing, you have to respond in 48 hours. I don’t know if heating and air does not, but one time, it took them quite a bit longer on the heating and air. I just assumed that the guidelines are not fogged.

I made a claim last week and Arizona TradeMasters came out to fix my HVAC system. They were excellent, very polite, and very professional. They did what they needed to do and they were gone. My realtor bought the American Home Shield and I have had used them four times. They have been very good and accommodating. At the end of the year when it's time to renew, I will definitely renew.

We had a heating issue and when we submitted a claim with AHS, they sent out Coastal Comfort Solutions. I saw on their van that they're a veterans company and I like that. The techs were nice as well and I was happy with the service. Other than that, it'd be nice to have the same vendors. We always get different people, but I understand. Also, we have AHS for six years now and this will be our last year with them because our systems keep getting fixed and fixed. We really need them replaced. But I would come back to AHS if I ever needed another home warranty.

AHS's copay of 100 bucks is high. Also if you call in two issues at the same time, they ought to give you a discount. However, my most recent claim experience with them went well. When my dryer's igniter stopped working one afternoon, the first person AHS hooked me up with was not able to do the repair for two weeks. My grandkids were coming over and I needed a dryer so I called Highland. They said they had a guy in the area that day and if I get approval, they could send him over in the afternoon. I called AHS and said that Highland had a guy in the area. AHS reached out to Highland, and within a couple of hours, the guy was at the house. AHS said that they’d send the stuff over immediately to Highland and they did. The part took about five days. Moreover, the guy from Highland knew what he was doing.

I called in a claim for the refrigerator and Home Shield sent Sears out. The guy came, checked it out, and said that two parts gotta be replaced. He said he would order them and they would be here in about a week, but I may not be able to get it installed until after February. Who’s gonna wait three months almost for a refrigerator? He gave a direct number to wherever he works or whatever his department. When the parts arrived, I called in and they said there was one more coming. I asked how long that was gonna be and she said I should be expecting it within the next couple days. But almost a week went by. This was after Thanksgiving. Nobody could save any food or anything because the refrigerator was not working.
I called Sears again and told them the part hasn’t come. I didn’t understand what was taking so long. The rep said that the part was on backorder and wasn't available. How come they didn't say that at the beginning when I called in? She apologized and said that part was not gonna come in. I said they need to tell my warranty company that so they can figure out something different. They said they would put the work order in and request the warranty company for that and that takes 48 hours. 48 hours rolled past. It was another week, so I called my warranty company.
I told them Sears said they were gonna contact them about my refrigerator and they said the part is on backorder. The lady put me on hold, called them, and they confirmed everything over the phone. Sears told them it couldn’t be fixed because they couldn’t get that part. The lady gets back on the phone with me and confirmed everything that I’ve already said a million times over. And we’ve already confirmed everything, that the refrigerator basically needs to be replaced. One guy said he would go ahead and put the order in to cash it out. I asked how long that takes, what does it say, and how much is that gonna be worth. He said he wasn't sure because that’s a different department. He said to give it 72 hours. This is the week before New Year’s. There was no callback.
I called again and got hung up on twice by both companies, Sears and American Home Shield. Finally spoke to somebody at Sears and spoke to five different people, still didn't get anything resolved. They were all still saying the same thing, “That part’s not available. There’s nothing we can do about it." I told them my warranty said they have to call them or send some type of report or somebody has to give them some documentation or something saying that the part is not back on and it can’t be repaired. Nobody did that. I spoke to someone finally again yesterday and she kinda feel like she wanted to help, but again, it’s still not fixed. It’s still not resolved.
My thing is if Home Shield sees one of their customers is having a problem with one of the companies they picked, then that’s gonna be on the customer to keep waiting until this company follows through on their end. Get another company out here to confirm the thing and let them tell Home Shield that. They’ll see they're not acting professionally and not doing their end. I’m very dissatisfied with this particular incident. But with the furnace claim, it was right on point. The company was good and everything was smooth.

The interactions recently with American Home Shield have been great. We called them months ago and the contractor could not find any part numbers on our appliances. So, AHS wouldn’t cover it. This time, I went ahead and called again, and paid for another service call. The same guy came out on a a washer claim and I told him that he couldn't find the part number on the oven when he came out before. While he was there fixing my washer, I was able to put in a claim for my oven so, he not only fixed my washer quickly but he said he knew exactly which part it was for the oven. I gave him the part number and put it in on the computer. He called it in right there and he got the part. He did two separate calls and took care of everything. He was very knowledgeable, professional and I would trust him with my home any time. He was amazing and everything went great.
We have had American Home Shield for years on multiple homes. The first time we purchased a warranty was 1998. We loved it and it was awesome. Subsequent to that, not only did we have the insurance on that house up until we sold it last year, but we had it on my son’s house. We’ve recommended other people buy it and they bought it. We had it on another couple of houses and then on our new house that we purchased. I had been busy taking care of my dad who is chronically ill and living with us, so virtually, I put it on my new house, made some calls a little over a month after I put it on my new house and AHS accused us of committing insurance fraud. They said that these things must have been broken all along and we just got AHS and tried to call something in a month after just to bilk the company. It was upsetting.
This gentleman who came out and fixed my appliances was the one that called on the oven. He told us that AHS tried to get him to say that we were committing fraud and that it has been broken a long time. The reason they declined it was because Viking was notorious for having long numbers that are difficult to find. That’s well known and he said that he was younger so he hadn't had Viking experience. AHS got the pool guy that we called on the pool heater to say that it must have been broken for a long time. We didn't even know it was broken. I said that I have not used my oven nor my pool heater. We were getting ready to have a birthday party and so, I was gonna crank my pool heater on and I was gonna bake a cake in the oven.
I wouldn’t know if the pool and the appliance have been broken a long time, because the only reason I hadn't purchased the insurance yet was because we were trying to sell two other houses that had the insurance and I was trying to keep my cost down. My house is a relatively new house so, once I got rid of the house and wasn’t paying the insurance anymore, I would pick it up on my new house because we always have a warranty. So, we’ve been customers forever and we recommended AHS. We’ve had other things we could’ve submitted claims on and we didn't because I didn’t wanna be accused of insurance fraud. Finally, my husband said that we’ve lived without this long enough and to put in the claim. They sent the same gentleman and he was wonderful.
My husband was there when the technician was making the phone call the first time and he said AHS was giving him all kinds of crap. When he called in this time, the people were wonderful. They were super responsive and responded immediately to him. He didn't have to leave and call me back on either claim. AHS has sent out bad service people in the past, and when I called them, they said that they were not gonna use those people anymore. They were unethical. Our experience with AHS, other than last year, has always been exceptional. So, we were thrilled to have the same service we’ve had since 1998 this past time. It was really what we’ve come to expect. I submitted a claim for my garage door and the process was very easy. I was told that a contractor will be calling me within a day or so, but Sam’s Garage Doors called me in less than four hours as a matter of fact. The repair person who came out was very professional and he appeared knowledgeable as to what was going on. It took him little or no time to repair the problem and he even gave me some tips on my garage door opener itself. It was excellent. I’ve had American Home Shield for a couple of years now and I’m happy. So far, so good. I’ve even made several referrals already.

American Home Shield did a great job. They sent out Whirlpool technicians for my Whirlpool clothes dryer that wasn’t heating up. The techs were great and got the job done quickly, and everything’s working fine since the repair.

The AHS rep was nice when I submitted a claim for a leaking sink in a powder room. I submitted the claim on Saturday, but Five Brothers only came on Monday. It was a super leak and I did not like waiting that long. The tech was very nice though and it took less than 40 minutes to get everything fixed

We had an inspection come out to the house, so the cover was not put back in the panel. First, it was exposed, and second, we wanna make sure everything was functioning properly, that it wasn’t broken. The AHS reps I spoke with when I called to file a claim were good. We’ve been having them for a while. It was a holiday weekend and because of all the holidays going on, it took three days to send somebody out. The guy from Advanced Home Services came out to install the cover to the panel that’s up in the attic and he was great. I've had other claims with American Home Shield and they went good. But because of the holidays, the plumbing part took a while. So today, they’re coming out here to finish up what they had to do.

I had a heating claim that I filed to American Home Shield. They sent Service Pro Heating and Air, but they didn't do anything. They looked at it, said the switch was set wrong, flipped the switch, and then left. But it still blows cold air. It has been a week since they came out. That was their second time already and the last time because I’ve gotten somebody else. I’m just waiting for them to call me back.

I have a high efficiency front loader which started to sound like a jet engine when it ran. I called Home Shield, they sent someone out immediately, and the tech diagnosed that it was a bearing and the engine had to be rebuilt or replaced. They got approval from American Home Shield and they ordered the part. My laundry room is off my family room and I have hardwood floors. They brought in materials and were careful not to damage the furniture of the floors. They cleaned everything when they left. They were on time, they were professional and they covered their feet when they came in. It was done within two weeks, they did a fabulous job and it's running great now. It takes time to order parts, and this was right before Thanksgiving so I was very grateful that they got it done.

We go online at American Home Shield to make claims and it's easy. ARRQ came out to fix the dryer, and they were not able to fix it since it was too old so they replaced it. They were amazing. They took their garbage with them and cleaned up every mess they made when they were installing the new dryer.

There was a time when our microwave was acting up. We put in a claim to American Home Shield that it needs a fix. A contractor came and checked our microwave. He ordered a board for it and when that came in, he came back out and put it in. However, that didn't fix the problem. He was then gonna order all the circuit boards but then AHS said they were not gonna do that. They decided to replace the unit and that was ordered.
We wanted something like the microwave that we had and we wanted the replacement to match our other appliances. We got a list from AHS of the microwave companies I could order from. If we didn't like any of them, we could order our own and they would give us a certain amount of money. We found a GE Profile on the list that was the right size. AHS told us to contact Mr. Appliance when the replacement comes in. We did and they came to install it. It works perfectly. It would have been nicer if some of this stuff would happen a little faster, but for overall satisfaction, we are very pleased with AHS. I recommend homeowners to have a home warranty policy and I would recommend American Home Shield. I’m very happy with them.

The guy from GM Appliance Services who came out and did the oven was extremely knowledgeable about what he was doing, very efficient and very fast. It was a quick and easy process. He showed me what was damaged and that he had taken out the element, put in the element in. He even turned the stove on, waited for it to get warm so that I could see that it was working. And since then, I’ve used my oven and it’s working perfectly. GM Appliance was excellent. They did a great job with the oven.
I’m just coming back to American Home Shield. I was with them 10 years back and I was with them for two years. I dropped them because of the service, which I’m done with them now again. I just can’t deal with service that is not what it should be. If I’m asking for a service and I’m paying for the service to be done, my expectation is that the service will be done when the service should be done. I did not get that at all, especially when it comes to now, my dryer. I’m just going through too much right now with my dryer and it’s a major inconvenience from the time when I first called to ask for my dryer to be looked at. GM Appliance came out and said, “All right. We gotta order the part for the dryer.” They went back to order the part, but the part was unavailable and they moved off of it.
Cathy, the AHS rep that I just got off the phone with was way above the top of her game with this today. She even made me feel a little better and made me laugh because I'm pissed off. I’m just confused about how all of it is working, but I know when I spoke to Joe on the 26th, he said, “Okay. They’re gonna dispose of your old unit and bring in a new unit." It was supposed to happen that day, but that didn’t happen. So now, I’m without a new dryer and I gotta wait more time for a new dryer to come in.
It has been a major inconvenience from the very first time back in October when I first called in regards to this issue and I feel like I’m getting the runaround. And in regards to it, nobody wants to do their job, nothing is gonna be done until whenever they feel like they’re gonna do it. I don’t understand what’s going on. So now, I’m waiting and I’m being inconvenienced. I gotta go to the laundry because I called my warranty company and they can’t make it happen. I need a warranty in my house, but if American Home Shield is not gonna do it for me, then I’m gonna try a different warranty company.
In addition, I had issues already with American Home Shield from the beginning and I should have cancelled it because when I signed up with them, I was supposed to get a $75 discount. I contacted them multiple times via email and I never got a response. I just kept going and the payments just keep coming. So, I probably will not renew with American Home Shield ever again. I can't deal with it. I want people to understand what they’re getting into before they get into it.

A bunch of problems had happened and I originally had the Sears people out. But I didn't really like the Sears guy. In fact, I don't ever want to see the Sears repair people again. He came out on the washer in the garage, which is an older unit. I’ve had it for probably 15 years and it's a dual Maytag front load, a washer and dryer combo. I wash my dog crate's blankets out there so when the Sears guy opened the door, there was some hair in the door but not much. I wipe it off once in a while and his comment was that was why it was leaking. He cleaned it off, did a couple of other things he was checking and then said it doesn't leak.
Well, the reason it wasn't leaking was because that washer is only leaking on stage three of the rinse. It is not leaking at the beginning of any cycle and it was in the rinse cycle. But he left and said he had fixed the problem. He didn't fix the problem though, because once it got to the rinse cycle, it was leaking still. Eventually, the problem was not just that it was leaking. It was not spinning right as well. So that's part of the reason it was leaking. But he had an arrogant attitude like, "Oh, you stupid woman, don't you know to clean your hair off the door?" He shouldn't give me that stuff. I'm an educated person. I know that was not why the washer was leaking. That's why I didn't like the Sears guy. He obviously didn't wanna go further and figure it out.
The Sears guy also originally looked at my dishwasher when it was broken. He put some part in which lasted one cycle and then the dishwasher stopped working again. So I called American Home Shield and I said it needed a repeat visit. I asked them to send Oliver from Precision Appliance and not to send the Sears guy again. So Oliver came out and looked at the dishwasher. There was a different little part that was needed. He put that in and the dishwasher has worked ever since. He also ended up fixing the oven problem. Oliver fixed both of the things that the Sears guy had come out a couple of times for and didn't get fixed. Oliver couldn't fix the washer in the garage though. American Home Shield has to replace it. But I like Oliver a lot. He's conscientious. He seems to know what he was doing, seems to be well-experienced and is very pleasant to deal with.
On top of those, on the first visit that the Sears guy ever came, he gave me a brochure to leave American Home Shield and sign up with the Sears Home Warranty. They were more expensive than American Home Shield. But that's who he works for. He works for Sears. I started with American Home Shield in 2014 with my Las Vegas rentals. My property manager over there actually doesn't like American Home Shield. She would prefer I change but I haven't and this is one of the things I tell people all the time – you don't flip insurance companies just because you can save a few bucks on a premium. What you want is a long-term relationship with the insurance company. I feel the same way with warranty. Besides, American Home Shield hasn't pissed me off to that point.
Right now, as soon as I get the replacement washer in the garage, I'll be happy. I wasn't happy with what they offered me and I emailed them back because I have a front loader, not a top loader. A top loader is more difficult when they're a stacked unit. They said I'm allowed up to so much money and that I could basically find one myself. But I really was hoping that they would offer me one that was equivalent which is a front loader.

With the problems that I have had, it has taken American Home Shield no more than 48 hours to have somebody on location. They back us up if we need it, and it’s very reassuring and nice to have that protection. Recently, I wasn’t happy with the first phone call when the contractor company called me and said, “We service Ardmore, but we don’t service Lone Grove.” It’s a three-minute drive. But the people from Texoma who came out and serviced me did a great job and I was very happy with it. They were professional and answered all of my questions. The only problem that was there was the sound I was hearing. It's something that occurs often and I was not aware of that. But it’s still in working condition.

I had a furnace claim and I was having a problem with the heating system. It's a rather large home and we have dampers on the heating system. And we had a problem with the dampers. They had to come out a couple of times before it really got taken care of. But I was very happy with the repairman that came. It was sort of a challenge to him to figure out what was going on, but he was very courteous and professional in how he handled himself, and so, I was very pleased with everything. Since the repair, the system is working fine now.
I just sold one of my homes and I had AHS at that house for 11 years. I was always very happy with the service I received. And then, I got coverage on my primary residence and I've had the coverage on this for about three years. I've never really had any problems with American Home Shield, from the time I pick up the phone and say there's a problem to getting it resolved.

Our thermostat was turning on and going to the highest temperature possible, which is a problem when it’s 85 degrees in the house. It was nice but it was too warm. I called American Home Shield and submitted a claim. I did the automated piece, and I got an immediate phone call back. I was told that within 24 hours, we’d hear something from the contractor. Cool Factor came out and they were awesome. The guy was very friendly. He told me what was going on after he looked at it and gave some suggestions to keep the system in better operating status going forward too just because it was an older system. He was very professional. He replaced the thermostat, and everything's working. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been good. I’ve used them for a while, and then I stopped using them for a period of time, but then I came back.

The first time that the contractor came out, they did a great job. The technician immediately smelled an electrical burning smell and he immediately determined what the problem was. It was a board on the back of the oven and he said that we needed to replace the board. I said okay and he put in for the board. They came back a couple of days later and replaced it. He turned the clock on and I realized that after he left, that he didn’t turn the oven on. I didn’t need to use the oven for another day or two and when I used it, I smelled plastic burning. So, I called my uncle and asked him what was going on. He said to give it a couple of days, a couple of times using it and maybe it’ll go away because the technician put in a new part. So, I let a couple of days go, a couple of times and then using it, and the smell would never go away.
I called the contractor back and I told the owner that I was smelling a different smell now. He said that was normal. I said it couldn’t be because I never smelled this before. He said he was looking at the ticket and he said that the tech tested it. I said that he did not test it. He turned the clock on and that was all he did. He told me I had to call American Home Shield back and get them back out. I was very upset. I’m a new customer so I thought I was gonna have to pay more money to get somebody back out. So, I called AHS back and they said that it was a recall, so they would get them to come back out.
The contractor came back out last Friday but it was another guy and he said that it was a normal smell. I said it wasn’t. He pulled the oven out, unplugged it, used his flashlight and he said he saw another issue. He looked at another board. There are three boards back there. Another board was completely burned and it had charred the back of my oven. He showed it to me. I asked him if the other technician should have seen it and he said yes. Then, he did some more looking in and he looked further down where the power cord was. It was completely burnt off where it connects to the oven and he said that he knew it was completely burnt off because the screw was completely turned a completely different direction. I asked if the other technician didn’t see these two issues and he said no.
He said they could correct the issue. They could get the items in and they just have to order these two parts. I asked him if I was not gonna have an oven again. He said yes and that it was so bad that he didn’t even feel comfortable plugging it back in. I could’ve had a bad fire with it. He said that when he comes out, he normally not only looks at the first issue but does a complete research of the entire issue. I asked if he was gonna be the one to come back. He said that the supervisor sets up a schedule of who’s gonna do what on the day when the parts come out. I asked who the supervisor was and he said that the first tech who came out was the supervisor. I said that I was gonna pray that he would be the one who was gonna come back out. In 7 to 10 working days, they should get the part in and they should get us back up and running.
That was last Friday and I called them either yesterday or today, and I asked them to get an update because I don’t have an oven. They said that they were still waiting on one part and they didn’t haven't an ETA as to when it’s coming in. So, I'm still waiting. I haven't heard since that conversation. When I was talking with the second tech, he said he understood the first tech who was going through quite a bit. I told him that I understood but this is my livelihood and my home. They should’ve sent someone else out if he was going through things because it could have been a terrible situation.
It has been a year or so when everybody has been saying that I should get American Home Shield. I said that I was gonna get it but I never did. Something told me that I needed to sign up for this plan and I did. I went ahead and signed up. It has been a blessing and it has been an experience. The contractor came out, and recognized and saw exactly what was going on but things could’ve turned out differently.

I bought my house on September 27th and I’m under warranty with Home Shield. There were leaks in the ceiling from what I think are hot water pipes and so DNB Plumbing came out. There were two leaks and I’m not sure exactly what the plumber did to get them to stop, but they’re fixed. It didn’t take that long and he did a good job. The leak damaged my whole ceiling so I have to call a contractor to fix the ceiling now because, obviously, a plumber can’t fix that.

Originally, when I bought the house AHS came with it, and I’ve still been using it until now. I wouldn’t go to anybody else. It’s great. Recently Robert Branthoover Electrical Services came out, and the claim went fairly well. I’ve turned the dishwasher on real quick just to see if it works, and it turns on. They sent the same guy that came by and fixed the electrical issues with my switches. He does a great job.

We've been with American Home Shield for at least 10 years now and it feels safe to have the coverage in case of any issue. For appliance issues, they tend to send out Airboss Mechanical first, but we don’t want them. We have dealt with that company and we’ve asked American Home Shield to not send them out again. We prefer Mr. Fix It. We had them for our most recent claim and they made an appointment for us pretty quickly. They came out when they said that they would. They were professional and had the issue resolved quickly.

JT Services came out to check the refrigerator and it was something about the compressor going so it's not working. The technician was very good, on time, very professional, and knew exactly what he was doing. Then I got a message that they were gonna replace the refrigerator, so I have to do a measurement and get it back to them.

Sometimes, submitting claims online to AHS is easier than going by phone. I submitted one for the heating system in my house. They sent Advanced Air Services and within 24 hours Advanced Air was here. The tech was great and now the heating system is performing very well.

We're very satisfied with American Home Shield. They're excellent. We've had them for at least 10 years now and whenever we have a problem, their contractors come right out and address it. Most of the time, they're able to fix it. I had a recent claim and it went real well. The tech was very good. He was able to answer some of the questions I needed answered. He found the problem and ordered a part for it.

Based on my research, everybody recommended to go with the American Home Shield. And other than that, the reviews on the internet were very good. That’s why I selected AHS. Sometimes you can have the right contractors. For example, Mr. Appliance of Stevensville is a very good contractor. Sometimes, they send me the worst contractors. Some lack product knowledge. When that happens, I go to the Home Shield website and try to talk with their customer service center they use to give the feedback.
I raised the request on home appliance some time back, Mr. Appliance came and did very well. Unlike recently when I had a dishwasher issue, when I raised the request, American Home Shield sent me Oakland Appliances Repair but those guys were terrible. They were not able to identify the issue. I can tell they were not that good. I was really frustrated and I was supposed to cancel American Home Shield. They changed the supplier to Mr. Appliance and they came and fixed it. They did very well. So, Mr. Appliance was the right supplier for them. I don’t know why they changed the suppliers to different guys and they irritate the consumers.

When the garbage disposal would not turn, AHS sent F6 Plumbing out. The tech took about one minute to fix it, which made me feel like an idiot. He just stuck that little tool on the bottom, gave it a little twist, and life is good again.

I called Home Shield and the customer service representatives were nice. After submitting the claim, somebody from Plumbers Inc. was quick to come out to clear the drains. He was cool, informative, and a good guy. He also helped me understand the problem with this type of building and all the issues. This is my first claim with Home Shield and they have got a nice price on it, so I’ll just keep it going. I’m big on insurance, and I have another home warranty and my last interaction with them was off, so I’m using Home Shield now. I even bought my sister a policy from them.

It took 2 summers and at least 7 visits from a technician before AHS finally agreed to let me get a new A/C unit. Even then, my tiny little unit cost me $3,000 out of pocket. They do not like to fix a problem, they do the absolute minimum possible so that you have to keep paying someone to come back out. This past May our water heater finally gave out and leaked water everywhere. Of course we discovered it at 5:30pm on a Friday night. AHS only called 1 company and left messages. For the next hour or two I was on the phone explaining to them that it was an emergency and we could not go all weekend without water so we needed to find a contractor that had emergency hours. I found TWO that were local and said they could come that night. But AHS refused to call anyone else. I waited 3 hours then finally went and bought a water heater myself.
I told the overseas clueless operator that I needed to go buy one before the store closed because it had to be fixed tonight. She said that was ok and they would reimburse me if I kept the receipt. Short version is, I have my new water heater, but they are refusing to pay the claim even though I followed all of their instructions. In addition, they offer no information at all on the website on how to cancel your policy. And if you cancel your policy, you cant make a claim. So I am now out $600 for a water heater and another $420 in monthly premiums for the 7 months Ive been trying to process this claim. The entire company is a scam. Read the reviews. Thousands have had similar problems. AHS should be outlawed.
I hate to hear about your most recent experience with the water heater claim. I understand that the issue was urgent and should not have been delayed. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved.

We decided to get AHS because we just bought this house and it had used appliances in it. And in the past, I’ve had AHS on a couple of homes and I never had any problem with them. I had AHS' contractors come out for my disposal. The first guy said it was broken and gone. He said he has to make a report and that he doesn't know if it will be changed or I would have to pay. I told him to make his report but I don't want to pay anything. And they never came back. My daughter called and another guy came out, who fixed the problem within two minutes. It was some button and he pushed it, and it was done. He's smart and he knows his job, and it was so clean. It was an amazing experience.

My most recent claim experience was with Total Air Care for the compressor outside that wasn't kicking on. It seemed like the heater strips inside weren't functioning. We got it all worked out and the contractor tested the strips inside. They in fact were okay. It just takes a while for them to get hot and I wasn't aware of that. But outside, the compressor capacitor was dead. He had one in his truck so he didn't have to come back out later. He did a very good job and everything is going very well now.

Gurney J. Bush Inc. came out for a plumbing issue and they were great. The guy got the stoppage out, but he said that it was not the origin of the problem. He said that a plumber needs to come in and really fix it. I've been waiting for an authorization to go through, and I have not heard back from American Home Shield about an actual plumber coming out.
The claim for the refrigerator was a disaster. The freezer was working but the refrigerator wasn't, and I called approximately on the 8th of December and American Home Shield couldn't get someone out till that Friday, which was okay. That Friday, the guy got sick so they called and cancelled. They couldn't come out till the following Friday. We were like, "No, we need something sooner than that." So they got someone to come out that Monday. He replaced one part, but that didn't fix it. He didn't have the other part, so he ordered it and came back. But the part that he ordered wasn't the problem 'cause it still didn't work. The other part, which is a circuit board, can only be worked on by LG certified people. So, we had to reschedule someone to come out.
Through the Christmas holidays, I didn't get a confirmation that they were coming. That morning, I called and said, "Are you guys coming on the 27th this morning?" "Yes, you're scheduled from 8:00 to 12:00." "Great." No one shows. Long story short, it was cancelled and I don't know who cancelled it. So then, we had to wait another week. They came out yesterday and the guy looked at it, and he ordered the part. This started on December 8th, and we're now not getting it fixed. We are not happy at all, to the point where we might change who we do this with. Through the delay, I don't think we should be charged. The two cancellations were not our fault.

The only problem I had was when I had a guy come out to fix my sink. He came twice to fix it, and the third time, he spent a lot time fixing it. It's fixed, but it stinks under the sink now and I don't know what to do about that. I don't wanna keep calling the same guy out. But everybody else has been great.

I submitted a claim to AHS because my toilets and garbage disposal were not working. However, I literally had to fight with AHS to get everything fixed because they were denying it. They were not trying to fix it until I reached the area manager. She was the one who helped me out. But my toilets are still not working and the guy they sent earlier was not at all qualified. I didn't reach to them because I wasn't having that much stamina to fight with them again and again for small things. So, I'm thinking that I'm gonna switch my company for the warranty. Since the beginning, I'm having so many problems. I'm not gonna refer AHS to any of my clients in the future.

The technician from East Texas Plumbing Co. put a 40 gallon in, and our tank was a 50 gallon. I called them yesterday and they said that he wrote up a ticket for a 40. I'm missing the 10 gallons. So, my dad was out here whenever he was doing all of this stuff, and my dad thinks he wrote up a 40 because it was easier on him, because of the tight space that was in. American Home Shield is supposed to be looking into it and talking to him to see if I can get a 50. I don't have a picture of the old water tank that he took. I have a second water heater here that's identical to the one that he took, so I can send them that picture.

Myers Plumbing came out a month ago and they did a good job. One of the tubs where the water was backed up in it, it wouldn’t go down. The contractor took out the works, cleared and cleaned it, put it back, and then it was fine. The contractor fixed whatever I showed him we needed fixing. On our gas furnace, however, the first contractor came out six times and he could not fix anything. They kept sending the same people and we figured they did not know what they were doing. So, finally, Chesapeake Comfort Systems came out and they said, “Okay.” When I submit claims to American Home Shield, I usually call. The reps have been okay.

Having AHS was something our Realtor really recommended, and we didn’t have a lot of experience with. And so, we went with the recommendation. And it has turned out really great. Submitting a claim was really great. I went to the website, I filled out the form and somebody contacted me within 24 hours. I felt really lucky. It was over the holidays that things started falling apart. We have young kids so everything was a disaster. And between the warranty and the appliance, all that stuff just went as well as we could expect.
The contractors are doing a great job. It’s still ongoing. They just had to order a part and ‘cause of the holidays it took a little longer than they expected to get in. So we’re waiting on a part. But they have been absolutely great. Communicating with them has been super easy. We can set up timing via email, which is nice, and then they give us a call right beforehand. They’ve always hit their time targets. They’ve been in and out of our house really quickly. They’ll explain everything they’re doing to me. I can’t think of a way that they could have done better.

We've had AHS ever since we moved about three years now. So far they're really good. We turn in a report and they get somebody to contact us within the timeframe they give, and people are out in a timely manner. They work with us on the appointment time. I had an appliance issue and my claim went real smooth. The contractors were out pretty quick, but we noticed the other day that we still have a leak. With the holidays, I forgot to call him back and see if they would come back out. When we opened the door to pull the ice bucket out there was water. It froze on the outside. Nevertheless, I was real happy with the contractor's professionalism. He explained exactly what was going on and showed me as he was going through everything.

Universal 1 Repair was able to get everything done, but I'm getting them to come back out because it has supposedly fixed what they fixed but they're doing the same thing that it was doing before. For some reason, I'm getting water in the fridge. They said it was a hole, so they switched the holes. That might have been part of it because I didn't see water for a little bit, but I'm seeing water again. So, it's probably something else. I called American Home Shield for the contractor to come back out. AHS called them and they would come out sometime next week.

You can’t beat American Home Shield at all as far as what you get for what you pay for. I've hit everything that I have coverage on. Everybody has done an excellent job and I’ve never had any problems with the professionals affiliated with AHS. I really appreciate them going out of the way to get top-notch professionals. Everything went well with my most recent claim. The guys from A.R.T. Heating & Air Conditioning were incredible. They were very knowledgeable, helpful, determined and detailed in their work. They did a very good job of troubleshooting the situation. The source of the problem was a number of things and they were able to figure things out quickly. Moreover, they stayed on it until they got it resolved.

These guys are wonderful. Whenever we've had a problem, it's been resolved. And because the prices went up a little bit, I looked at what the coverage was and there were a couple of new things in there. American Home Shield is covering heating and air conditioning now. The garage door opener was included as well. I think the coverage is well-done.
Two days before Thanksgiving, my oven wasn't working but Sears fixed it. It was a simple fix and it had to be done. It went very well too. The first person who came out took a look at it and knew exactly what was wrong. The part was sent to us and a second person came out and fixed it. He put the part in and now, everything is fine. I was impressed with their knowledge. We've had some bad people in the past but the two reps were really good.

Our home was built in ‘75 and as it gets older, things are starting to break down. We needed a home warranty and be able to make one call and have someone contact us and come out. We got American Home Shield and we've had them for about 5 months now. I submitted a claim for our garage door and the process was very easy. Flash Garage Door Services called us immediately and they came out and they took care of it. Everything went great and there are no problems since then on the garage door.

We had a heating issue, the motor went out in it. The service was very good and very prompt after I opened a claim to AHS online. It was really easy to do. And the company that came the next day, Lee's Heating & Air was professional and did a great job. They had to order a part and they came back in and fixed it. I'm just grateful I have AHS.

I had a major problem where the refrigerator was growing a huge ice ball on its back. It had something to do with insulation. Both N and K Appliance Service and Sears came out because the refrigerator was not repairable at all, and both technicians said, "Yeah, we have seen it all the time on this kind of other refrigerator." So, we got a new refrigerator that was delivered on Friday but they didn't hook it up properly. Water is leaking in the back and we have lots of water coming out of the fridge. The guy is coming back today to fix it. But it has been a long time to need a refrigerator and the process took very long.
Also, the waiting time on the phone to have someone help me is just incredible. And I don’t think the people that they hire are very well-trained or are very well-informed. It’s like, “No, no, no, wait, you don’t have the whole picture. Please let me talk to a supervisor.” They wanna go through their whole spiel, and I just want them to stop to listen. They're not reading their notes on what is going on with the process. That is a huge, major frustration.

The people who sold the house had installed a new shower. Apparently there is some kind of scald guard inside the faucet, and they did not set that. I then could not get any hot water off the faucet. I did the claim to American Home Shield online and it was easy. I clicked on what was wrong and it was all I had to do. Kyle Ruehle, the contractor, came out and it took the guy about five minutes. The cover was taken off, the scald guard was reset, and it worked. It was good.

I submitted a claim on my water heater online. American Home Shield's website was fine, and then I got a call shortly thereafter. I turned it in on Thursday night and the contractor came out on Friday. We sent everything in to the AHS, and then the following Monday, they did whatever they do. The contractor did it either on Tuesday or Wednesday morning, and he was awesome. They took out the broken water heater and put a new one in. Everything has been operating and performing terrific since they’ve been out.

I'm satisfied with Home Shield. We've been out for the holidays, but our oven is still broke. And Home Shield gave us the option to either have the $275 towards a new oven or Atlas would come back out, take the parts out and it's gonna take like six to eight weeks to have it repaired, and that's what we're gonna have to do because it's broke. I was gonna call Home Shield today.

The one thing that has been a struggle for me when I submit claims are the people. The call seem to go right to the Philippines and the people I end up talking with there either don’t understand me or I don’t understand them, and they talk over me when I’m trying to explain myself, and that gets rather frustrating. One time, I had to call 4 different times to get my request all the way through and understood. I know they’re out of Iowa and I would prefer to talk to somebody in the States. But when I get through to people in the States, everything goes very smoothly and everything’s taken care of quickly and efficiently. I was gifted the home warranty by my realtor and I was seriously considering renewing when this policy is over, but especially if they take care of that communication piece.
I bought my house the 1st of September and I got American Home Shield. So far, they’ve sent out people for a water leak, for a refrigerator that did not work, and now, my furnace. McCormick Mechanical came out for my heating issue and Matthew was very good. He diagnosed the problem quickly and then took care of it. So, my experiences have been very good and, other than the frustration with the English-speaking in the Philippines, I’ve been very satisfied with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield's claim process is simple. I've had them for about two years now and I haven’t had very many difficulties when I submit claims. They are usually quick and they get right back to me. However, my claim for the refrigerator seems to be taking a long time. I’ve been living without a refrigerator since the day before Christmas. They sent out the first contractor from Appliance Defiance and he checked on it. He was very professional and he did an excellent work. He was right on top of it and he got back to American Home Shield that the refrigerator is a complete overhaul. But I haven’t heard much of anything since then. It’s been extremely slow and it's getting frustrating. I’m not mad but I feel like they could move a little faster.
American Home Shield could speed up getting parts ordered. Also, in the whole system of the contractor sending information back to American Home Shield, I have to wait for them to go to underwriting to determine whether they can pay for stuff. I personally feel like they should trust their contractor’s word and get moving on and make things move a lot faster. But I also understand their business on trying to save money where they can. I know that nothing’s gonna happen right that first day. The whole process takes time, but it’s worth it usually. Overall, I usually have a good experience and they’re really good. I’ve even recommended them to multiple people.

The gentleman from Ace’s Garage Door that came out was excellent. He was on time, very professional and was quick. Moreover, he knew what he was doing and knew exactly what he needed. And it was a one-time visit. However, I usually don’t like AHS's service. Their customer service isn't always the greatest when you call in, when they call you back, when they don’t call you back or when you get disconnected and then they don’t call you back. I’m with them only because they are cheaper than Old Republic, which is the best. I will probably go back to Old Republic next year.

Knodle’s Appliance Services was the one that came out and ascertained what was wrong with the oven. It was the motherboard and the temperature probe. Unfortunately, we have been without an oven since Thanksgiving. We didn’t have Thanksgiving. We didn’t have Christmas. We had no way to prepare the food. Anyway, we took the option to cash out because even the repairman that was out here said, “I’m talking myself out of a job, but it’s a 15-year-old oven. I don’t know if I’d put that kind of money in it.” We agreed and so we decided to cash out. And then we ordered a 24-inch KitchenAid oven, and nobody stocks 24-inch ovens. And we were told that we would have it by the 17th of December. We found out on the 17th of December that the oven was still in the factory in Michigan. It was not until the Friday after Christmas that the oven came into the store.
We got a call from the installer and they said that the soonest they could get us on the schedule would be this coming Tuesday, the seventh, because it would take two men to do it because of the weight of the oven. So once we had that confirmation, I sent an e-mail as requested to AHS with a copy of our receipt and a copy of the warranty which they asked for. We’re waiting for the oven and we’re waiting for the check from AHS.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. The only place where I was disappointed was that we were told by the retailer that we would have the oven no later than the 17th of December. That never happened. And then we got conflicting stories. This was Lowe’s and then they said it was down in their warehouse in Indiana and they didn’t get it on the shipment that week. It wasn’t on the truck. Then I called and got another call from one of the ladies and she said, ‘Well, you talked to the wrong people here.” I said, “What do you mean? I called the store and asked for appliances. Somebody answered the phone and I asked them what they’ve heard and give us an update.” They said, “Yeah, but they don’t know what they’re talking about. You should ask for me.” Then they finally called and said they found out it was still in Michigan and that they’d call an update when they learned anything but it was ordered.
Working with AHS was fine. It was just all the other problems was goofy. But AHS had been recommended to me before by others, and specifically, my son. They’ve had their service for a few years now, and he bragged about how good it was and how helpful it was. So just based on that, I joined and here we are. It wasn’t that long and I had the claim. But it was no trouble at all. It was very clear. It felt very fair. Especially, I like the cash out option. It didn’t make sense to put $400 into a 15-year-old oven. We decided then to upgrade because all the other appliances that we have were stainless steel and this was white and my wife has hated that. She’s wanted to get rid of it. This gave us the opportunity to do that. Hopefully, it will get here Tuesday and it will get installed and we can get back to work. AHS was good and I've been bragging to relatives and other people about the warranty and how smooth it was and how happy we were.

The guy from Austen Appliance came and fixed the heating element. He was very nice and it took him about 30 minutes to do the repair at our house. We've had American Home Shield since 2003 and they have always been good for us.

This will be my second year with American Home Shield. I like that If I submit a claim to them, they’re good about getting somebody to me. Last time, there was a missing piece off the faucet. It was leaking. I submitted a claim online and they sent A-1 Haney out. They were in and out and they were able to fix it quickly. Their service was good.

We called 11-9 for our broken washer and dryer. Tech came and totally disassembled the dryer and ordered an electric element for our gas dryer. She said the board was out on the washer. Ordered it and never came back. They sent another tech back 12-15. He diagnosed the dryer and washer in a few minutes. Ordered new parts. They couldn't expedite. They should have been in by 12-20. All we are waiting on is a belt. The supervisor said this is not able to be expedited because it doesn't meet their parameters. These are 2017 model appliances. This the worst service I have ever heard or received with appliances. I'm going back to Old Republic who had good service and expedited when needed.

I am nearly six months into my one year AHS coverage paying a monthly fee using auto payments. I decided paying nearly $600/year plus $75 copay for each issue reported was not to my advantage. After I Finally found the cancellation telephone number to call Way Down FAQs I reached a call center in India. I was asked for my policy number and learned just how hard That was to find online. Then I could NOT just get a quote of ALL the fees it would cost to cancel. I had to endure being asked WHY in various ways from some foreign national until I got forceful and said I just wanted to know the cost in order decide IF I wanted to cancel then Finally told I would have to be transferred elsewhere to learn the cost.
Then another 5-10 minutes waiting to be transferred with LONG pauses each time with the same rep just sitting there silently until I spoke, over and over with another question from him each time until FINALLY I was asked if I would hold and then the next voice many minutes later was the same character informing me it would cost NEARLY TWO MONTHS' equivalent of my monthly payments. Do Not Buy Their Sales Representative's BS. AHS is Not Easy Cancel Anytime As Advertised! My first experience with AHS has unfortunately been disappointing. After waiting period, I requested service on 11/15 for my dishwasher. Initial response from repair co was great & appt was made. Technician arrived, diagnosed problem & returned the following with parts. Everything seemed fine, but within one week I experienced the same problem. Placed another request for repair & was contacted again by repair co. Tech returned & I described what problem was along with giving him the error code that I saw. He looked at it for maybe 5 mins, said didn’t see any problem & I should just run the machine. After he left I did. 2 hrs later, machine was making error code alarm noise. I even videoed it so the tech would better understand the problem.
I contacted AHS again. They approved 3rd repair, but I had to contact repair co. I left multiple mesaages over several days with no return call. I called AHS 2 different times & spoke with 2 diff reps who tried to contact co. They also got voice mail or no answer to call. 2nd rep said the issue would have to be referred to their dept that deals with contractors & I would have to wait for a call from that dept. It’s been over a week & still no call or email. I’m out $100 for the “service” call, I’m still paying monthly premium and my dishwasher still isn’t working and it has been over one month since my original call for repair was made. I’m seriously considering canceling my coverage because this was my first experience trying to get a repair thru AHS and it’s been so negative.

My contract number is **. I spoke to Jun (agent ID **) and she returned my call back, very nice of her, but the problem is not solved for over two months now. I don't know what a proof of repair you are asking for, you guys sent the repair guy and he talked to you guys that this is beyond fixing that I was promised a check for $1,183.44 way back in October to buy a new fridge. I still have not received it, I sent the refrigerator receipt from Best Buy to you on October 8th to this email ahspor@ahs.com. I have spent 3-4 hours collectively multiple times, talking to various people and still, this is not resolved.

I’ve had American Home Shield since I purchased the house in July 2019. I had a problem with my toilet in the basement. I had a lot of water and the company that American Home Shield sent me never came. I got approved to hire another company and they did the job. I sent the invoice but the contractor put a wrong address to it. When I called and they told me, I sent the right address. This has been since October. They gave me the first email, and I sent it twice. When I called, they said they received it but I never received any reimbursement. When I called back, they gave me the second email, and I sent it twice. They told me they didn’t receive it. Two or three weeks ago, I called again and they gave me another one, and I sent the invoice. I’m just waiting for the check because they told me it has been mailed. Both AHS and the contractor were very good and professional. American Home Shield did a good job and I am very satisfied.

Our bathroom faucet wouldn’t turn off right and when my husband went to fix it, it broke. The water wouldn’t even shut off. My husband called American Home Shield and their system was down, so he couldn’t do anything. Then, I was able to get back in touch with them about 15 minutes later, and they were able to do it quickly. I would have just done it online, but we were hoping to get somebody here quick. Pipe Down Services came, fixed it and they were gone. Everything was fine.

I've had AHS for years and I like the work that they do. If I had an issue and I couldn't get the folks they sent out, I could call American Home Shield and they would switch me to someone else. Recently, there was a leak in the toilet and when I submitted a claim, AHS sent out a tech from Leak Seekers. He was more than on time and he got the job done.

When I called AHS, they responded and got someone out. I had to wait a day or two for the contractor to come out, but it was the Christmas season and I was in no hurry. So it was all fine. When the contractor came in, he looked, went outside, talked to AHS, came back and said that he could give me a new garbage disposal and he happened to have one at that time. He gave me a new garbage disposal. He let me know what he was doing. So that was all good.

I called American Home Shield's 800 number and submitted a claim. I asked them to set it up because the online account hadn't been set up yet. The communication was great. They told me Dan's Pro-Lock was the contractor and they gave me a schedule. The guy that came out was really good. We had four doors with locks and he rekeyed all those locks for me. He was prompt. He did the work expeditiously, and we were done in under an hour. He'd been working for Dan's for a while. He knew what he was doing and he did a great job.

American Home Shield sent Sunbelt for an electric issue that we had. Everything went very easily with this claim. It was part of another claim because what happened was my garbage disposal actually stopped working. And then they found out that it was actually because of the switch partially. So, they said that they had to send an electrician to actually fix that part of it because the disconnect was with that particular switch for the unit. When he came out, it took him maybe five minutes. It took him longer to shut off the electric than it did to actually fix it. It was so quick. He was like, “Yeah, it’s all done.” I had a claim a few months ago because my electric outlet in my living room stopped working right. It was making a noise. And I didn’t realize that that was the same guy at first. But he fixed that pretty quickly too. So, he’s a very fast worker, and what he does is accurate so that’s good too.
I didn’t know anything about home warranties when I first bought a house. And a person told me, “Oh, well, you know what, if you get a home warranty, you could do that on your own. But they weren’t gonna pay for it at first. It’ll cost you like $500 every time you use it.” I thought I might as well just pay for whatever it is that needs to be done. It was $500 for the year for the service, and then you pay like 75. But I didn’t know that. On a different house that I had, I had a hot water heater that broke and it cost me $850 to replace it because it was leaking. And then somebody was like, “Oh, you should’ve had a home warranty. I have one and it works out really well for me.” And when they explained it, I started researching it, and American Home Shield came out as the second in the list as being one of the best ones. So, I signed up for it then.
Then I just thought, “Well, I’ve dealt with you before,” so I went ahead and signed up again when I moved here. In my house, when I bought this one, the sellers were able to pay for it for the first year with the sale of the house. And then I paid for it this time. I was trying to be nice for my parents one time, and I bought them a policy, and I was gonna pay for it. It’s like a Father’s Day gift. I went through some kinda Home Select because they offered free roofing covers, and I though that would be a good thing to have, and there was some kinda special.
When I signed up for that, oddly enough my parents ended up having a problem with their washing machine. It was 31 days after we had signed up, and I thought, “Oh, my gosh, is that weird.” So, they tried to put in a claim, and the company said, “Oh, well, you know what, you actually can have it 30 days after the fact.” It would have been 31, but they were like, “Actually, if you pay by debit or credit card, then it takes like an extra three days. So, then that was like two days early, so sorry, we’re not gonna provide that claim.” I’ve never dealt with anything like that with AHS. So, I thought, “Well, I trust you now, and I’m afraid to try anybody else now because I know what I’m dealing with.”
I did have a problem one time. It was something to do with my pool coverage because they said that they would cover the filter, and then they were like, “Oh, sorry, it’s tilted.” You couldn’t tell that it was tilted. They said it wasn’t age-related. But it is age-related. So, then they wouldn’t cover the pipes to be replaced. So, I got the pipes replaced myself, and it cost me $485. But when they did that, they said, “We’ll go ahead and waive the charge for $75,” which they did ‘cause they gave me back my credit. And the only reason they did that is ‘cause I made two calls before I actually asked for that service to make sure it would be covered. Months before that, they came out and said that same thing, that it wouldn’t be covered, but the lady was like, “Oh yeah, it would be replaced.” She read all this stuff. And then I asked to speak to a supervisor, waited 45 minutes, and they never answered.
I called back and got the same answer from the other person, and they knew all the details about what the other person said. I was a little surprised that they weren’t gonna do anything. But then I said, “Well, let me take the full coverage off because you won’t cover anything on the pool filter at all because you don’t consider that normal wear and tear, the age of it.” Then they said, “Oh, you have to keep it till April.” They would cover the motor of the pump but not the filter. Then they were like, “Okay, well, we’ll give you a $75 credit to use,” which is how I used the first time when that guy came for the electrical outlet. And it took them probably five times of me calling back because they kept on saying, “Oh, you didn’t pay, you didn’t pay.” But they said they saw the coupon when I went to use it.

My problem with American Home Shield is when I call, it gets outsourced to the Philippines. I’ve been there before and I know the accent and the culture, which is not a problem, but there's a language barrier sometimes. They're trained to repeat everything back, ask something else, and then repeat everything. One can tell they're trained that way. Sometimes, the language barrier is a little when I'm trying to relay a point or communicate but sometimes it is hard to decipher what they're saying depending on the person's accent.
I’ve called Home Shield a lot and I’ve already utilized them about 12 times. Sometimes, it is frustrating because I don’t think they're comprehending. For instance, I said that I had a problem with the toilet and the rep just kept reiterating the shower 4 times, and I was like, “Ma’am, focus.” That’s the only thing I can say. And then, they go back to the whole thing, “Let me understand why you’re calling.” And it’s like a script. We were having a 20 to 30-minute conversation when it could be like a 5-minute conversation.
Another thing, I had another home warranty provider when I was stationed in Hawaii. It was was smaller, and if I had a problem, they’ll come in 20 minutes. I’ve been with American Home Shield for 7 months so far with my current home and when something goes wrong, I can’t get somebody out on the same day. In my last claim, Rock Solid Heating & Cooling came out for my HTG. The technician was very knowledgeable and he explained everything. He completed the job and I have no complaints.

I had American Home Shield for two years and then, I stopped for a year. Then, I went back to them. Their service is great and it’s better than the service I had before. I submit my claims on the phone and the reps are very courteous. The contractor was wonderful and very polite. They explained everything they were doing step-by-step and told me exactly what they have to do. Everything is functioning since the service.

We came home one Sunday afternoon and the house was cold. My wife is a dialysis patient, and there was no way that we could go through the weekend with a cold house. We experienced that once before. Our unit was not putting out heat, and we've had two previous claims with AHS related to this. I called their contractor, J & A, directly and they took all the information. At the end of the conversation, however, they said I must go through AHS first because I didn’t say it was like an emergency that I had to go back and start again. So, I did. AHS understood and they were very receptive and helpful. Within two hours of my call, the technician was here and solved the problem. So, I was very pleased. The technician who came out this third time seemed to be very meticulous. He found the problem and replaced a part, and it has been a good month, maybe a little longer, that I’ve not had any issue.

I had a faucet leaking in my master bathroom one time and I submitted a claim to AHS. They sent Safe Cali Plumbing who then called me that they cannot find the part. They said they needed to reorder something. Additionally, I also have a claim for the shower leaking but then AHS told me they cannot cover it and that they would just send me money. Still, I think AHS is fine and they're working. The issue is their workers who cannot find the part needed.

American Home Shield has an app and I just go on it and submit a service request. The website with the app has gotten better as it’s just a couple of buttons now. We don’t even say anything. It’s, “I need service. This is what I need service on,” and that’s it. Something pops up saying, “You’ll hear from us or a contractor within X amount of time.” Then emails start coming in. Comfort First came when the heat pump wasn’t working, and they were quick and they seemed knowledgeable. They had to order a part, but they fixed it.

We had an older air conditioner and this was the second time it failed. Majestic Custom Heating and Air Conditioning came out and they found the problem. And then, we got a brand-new air conditioner which was a really good thing. I like them. They're genuine and they do a great job. I've been with American Home Shield since 2017. I'm a Realtor and I feel that when things break down, especially for the air conditioner, it can really dig a big hole in your pocket. So, having a home warranty is good.
As a Realtor, I put AHS on all my things as well as I get my buyers to take them. The experience was very good for the most part. But this summer has been not so good because two of my clients had the same issues and the fine print doesn't cover the air conditioner. One of them had to shell out $700 and I had to pay 800 something. And then, they call us and they get mad at us. That was my only dissatisfaction. Maybe AHS could work out that fine print for the air conditioner. Now, I've been telling people upfront that we'll go through that fine print. But at the end of the day, if it's not done the way they want it, then they get all mad. So, that's the only negative thing. It's a bad experience on my whole customer service because I consider that part of my customer service package, because that's the whole process that I want my clients to feel that they're going to have. But it's just 5% out of the 100%.

We call Aqua Source out for water and plumbing issues, and sometimes it takes a little longer to get those responses. It’s not that they're bad, but they're always the ones that come to service the area. They're from Roanoke and the house is in Lynchburg, so it’s not convenient for them. Everything still gets done in a very workman-like manner. The fridge claim with Sears was really quick, and that was awesome. I wasn’t there when the tech came, but my daughter was and she said he was very nice. He was prompt, he fixed it and he was on his way.

American Home Shield was recommended by the realtor when we bought the house a year ago. I was happy to submit the claim, knowing that the warranty service was available. It took the representative a little while, like 15 minutes, to find a plumbing company that was available because of the holidays, but that was fine. I talked to the people at West Tech Plumbing and they were very helpful in scheduling the time for the guy to come out, and the guy that was there was very professional. He didn’t mess around. He worked, and did his job, and took off. Our contract is due in March and I'm not sure, however, if we are going to renew it or not -- we would if they lower the price.

Initially, the guy from At Your Pool Service called and we set up the date. I left the gate unlocked on the day he came out and he diagnosed the problem then he left us a note that he had to order a part. When the part came in, they came out again and did the fix, and I was there that day. Everything was great and it couldn't have been better. My experience was really smooth 'cause all I did was get on the internet and deal with it, and how one goes on then basically set up the service.

My heater would fire up and it sounded like it was gonna work and then it would shut off. Salyers came out and got the thing running. They told me they had to get a part and they got it, and then it started smelling like something electrical, so we shut it off. They called the next day and said they were able to get a part right away. They came out and took care of it. They were very polite and concerned that we didn’t have heat. They were wonderful.

The water faucet was leaking and the contractor did their job. They weren't here very long. They did what they had to do, and they were out of here. Since then, everything is working fine and I was very satisfied with the company. They were very professional. I was gonna call American Home Shield on Monday. The furnace quit working and so I submitted a claim on it online. The website is fairly okay to navigate, but it could be easier -- it was glitchy and I had to try again the next day. I then got a text message a day or so later from them. So far, I've enjoyed all of my contractors other than my plumbing. I had a plumbing leak and I had the same guy come out a couple of times. However, he didn't fix it to my satisfaction. He did a poor job. My uncle ended up fixing the problem. I told AHS never to send that guy to my house again. AHS was part of my contract, and it protected me in my first year when I bought the house. I let my contract lapse, and then I got them back. I wanted a home warranty for little fixes that I'd rather pay as I go over time, and then whenever I have something come up, it's covered.

I filed a claim for the hot water heater online. And then I had to call the next morning and we arranged when I was gonna be there because I was gonna be gone. And so, he worked real good with my schedule and he was there right when he told me he was, and it worked out good. He was real professional and knew exactly what he was doing. He had the right tools because I even talked about his tools because he was right there with it. It was the hot water sensor box that had gone out. He had to order a part, so I had to come back and meet him again. We had to wait a couple of days on that, which was cool. And then when the part came in, they called me that morning and they were out there that afternoon. They came out really quick and replaced the part. The heater is working real good. I have hot water all day long.

I had a dishwasher claim and Dill Appliance Repair came out. Everything was just fine. I have to wait for the seal to be replaced, but since then, the water problem has gotten even worse. They were supposed to be coming out again on Monday, and it’s to the point now where when the water is running out, it’s ruining my wood floors. It’s a bad problem that hasn’t been solved. It first appeared as though it was cycling correctly, but when I ran it the other day, it just gushed out. I don’t know what to do. American Home Shield's claims process was easy. Their contractors have calibrated my ovens and when the under light on my microwave was out, it was all taken care of very efficiently. They were very prompt on their time. We’ve used them for years and we've been pleased.

I’ve had to use American Home Shield a couple of times and I called in a claim when my heat wasn’t working. The contractor showed up on time and he was very competent. He figured out what it was and had the part in his car, which was great. So he fixed it before he left and it’s been working ever since.

Accord Appliance, AHS' contractor was professional. Their tech did his job and ordered a part. Accord still has to come back but even so, I find that AHS' contractors do a great job. It's the best home warranty out there and it takes care of me.

I was very much surprised of the issue I encountered because previous interactions with American Home Shield were excellent. I literally received the best service I ever had from a company like AHS and their appliance repair contractor for a previous claim so I am not sure what happened here when my plumbing problem came up. The good news is that they monitor sites like this (I had no idea that would happen) and from the moment I posted my original review their Social Media Specialist was beyond eager and with all sincerity wanting to help resolve the issue amicably and equitably, which she did. Plumbing issue was repaired and she scheduled and helped me get the wall patched where the plumber needed to cut to access pipes (also covered under my plan). All repairs were done to my satisfaction (great work by all contractors) and I'm glad to continue using and recommending America Home Shield.

Filed claim for leaking faucet and paid required service fee. American Home Shield sent local plumber (Colorado Plumbing and Heating - Frank - out of Denver) to fix. Plumber did not fix problem, promised to return and never did and will not answer phone or return phone calls. Home warranty company (American Home Shield) will not honor repair and will not refund payment made to them.

We will not be renewing our contract with American Home Shield. Within a year of the contract - two plumbers failed to repair our leaking pipes (note that this is two different plumbing issues). Both plumbers did not even try to repair instead they said something was in their way so they can't get to it. Again - this is two different plumbing issues. Both incidents we had called American Home Shield they said they could send out another plumber for a second opinion however we still need to pay out of pocket for the visit.
We already paid up front for their first visit and they ended up didn't do anything...so we didn't want a second opinion because what if another plumber from their list also did nothing? In the end, we ended up calling a locally well-known plumbing company and they fixed the broken pipe within an hour. As a first time homeowner - we thought having a home warranty would be beneficial, but we were wrong! It wasted our time and money for sure!

Nov 21 called with furnace issue. Still no heat Dec 20. 30 days now freezing. Call and get someone in the Philippines who can't help me and cannot let me speak to anyone in the US. They say they will call me back and never do. I was also hung up on many times by their wonderful customer service because they know nothing and cannot get in touch with the US so they hang up. How can this company not have a US contact and not get me a new furnace in the winter in 30 days. Very unsatisfied. Poor customer service. Not reliable. Uncaring. But yet they will still charge me 1500 for the pleasure of freezing for a month.

Updated on 01/13/2020: Just an update to the horrible service I am paying this company for. Again, no one who answers in CS is America, however, when my 1st review went up all of a sudden their "social media" department was fast to want to speak with me. Nope, they are as professional as the rest of this unprofessional organization. We're into week 6 coming soon and I still have NO WASHING MACHINE. They determined the washer has to be replaced. This means I have to start all over with their "process". Their process benefits them, not any of us, the ones paying them, the consumer.
Now I find myself dealing with the "option department" and all of a sudden it's going to be about 14 business days for the installer to reach out to me to schedule this installation. That's going to put me well into week 8. Just for them to contact me. I have yet to be able to get someone to actually tell me HOW LONG they expect the consumer to wait on their "processes". I am willing to bet that by April, based on personal experience, I may have a working washing machine - I won't wager over a plugged nickel though.. That's about how worth while this crooked organization is..
Updated on 01/01/2020: 3 weeks into this matter and we have no washing machine still.. Having endured with no washer for two weeks and no one from AHS calling me I find myself here again. Part 1, their vendor never showed up. Part 2 - I received an email from the no-show vendor indicating they rescheduled my appointment for 12/24. Um, just exactly who did you reschedule this with?? Not me..and the hilarious part - now they are scheduling service for my *dryer.* I never thought Comcast or Verizon could be outdone, never say never..AHS, my hats off to you, your customer service is the worst of the worst and still sinking. If the washer ever gets repaired I will have to come back and finish this saga...
Original Review: I tip my hat to this company. The first time, first time ever, I needed a service call and they not only fail, they fail miserably! Congratulations on having the ability to steal from clients. I called in on a Monday, washer not working. They had an appointment scheduled for me for Thursday morning. I took the morning off work. That was my first mistake..You got it, the repair vendor NEVER showed up. As a matter of fact, they never called even. So for the next 7 hours I spent going round and round with AHS customer service. Yes, 7 hours as they don't do much faster than a snail. So, the next day I am calling again.
Keep in mind, I have lost half a day at work and PAID them and all I have to show for this is a $250 loss and a washer that's still not working. Trying to reach someone coherent at this company is a joke. All they do is read off the papers the same thing over and over. Day 7 and I am worse off than before I called them. I will be contacting my CC company to dispute all the charges they have charged me for the past 5 years. They CANNOT honor their obligations and THEY DO NOT try. Worst Company ever and they go to great lengths to cheat their clients and twist the words.

My heater stopped working and the fire wouldn't come on. I called in a claim to American Home Shield and went through a very easy process. Their contractor, A-US Air Conditioning of Texas, came and the tech thought the issue was something and he fixed that. But then, the heater had the same problem. The tech immediately came back and fixed it.

Every time I call to get someone to take a look at my issues, they give some runaround about having 48 hours to respond. I am currently without heat in my house and the temperatures are dipping into the teens this evening. When I called to have someone come out to look at my gas furnace, they told me they could schedule somebody by Saturday or Sunday. By that time, my pipes could be frozen. I also called 6 weeks ago about a broken washer and they told me they don't cover over usage. All of my clothes had dirt on them, but they said it was running, so they don't take care of that. If there is a special plan that does, they certainly don't inform you of that. I will cancelling this service as I have had nothing but bad experiences with them so far.

We bought our house and it’s had some problems. Having American Home Shield came in very helpful, and we've had them for about a year and a half now. Our most recent claim was regarding an electric issue and it was fixed. Everything went fine in the claim. We had previously thought it was fixed the year before. The AC technician came out and had found out that the wall thermostat thing wasn’t programmed correctly for the unit, and he reprogrammed it right. It worked pretty good because it was a mild winter. Then this year, when we turned it up past 72 to try to warm up the house ‘cause my wife has a heart condition and she can’t take the cold like she used to, it started kicking off again. When it got to 74, it would actually pop the circuit breakers. I couldn’t understand why, so we had the AC guy come back out.
The AC guy looked at it and he said, “Well, your circuit breakers are getting real hot.” Well, that’s what happens when they pop. But he took a look at it, and he said, “Well, I’m not a electrician, but I think this is wired wrong.” So, he went back in and referred it to an electrician. The electrical company came out, and their guy took off the side of the unit and said, “Oh yeah, it’s wired wrong for sure. You could see it right there.” So, he changed a busbar or something like that, and I haven’t had a problem since.

The dishwasher's bottoms were not working. I submitted the claim online and the website was convenient to use. It took less than a week before the contractor came out and he was very professional and friendly. I took the cashout option and I'm going to submit the receipt tomorrow because tomorrow is the installation. I had American Home Shield two or three years back for a year or two, and then I discontinued. Now I have been with them again for about four months.

The contractor didn’t have the part he needed at the time of day he came to help us, but he returned shortly in the week. I rather he had the part on his truck. But we were one of the later appointments in the day and he said he’d already done five of that same job. So, he was out of it. But everything's been working fine ever since.

Our oven was not heating correctly and I submitted a claim for it via the website. I got follow-up email about who was gonna come out and look at it, and I was very satisfied with the process. We couldn't come up with a suitable date within a reasonable timeline with the initial contractor they assigned to us. They were always a number of days out. I understand that they were busy and they couldn't get to us, but we needed the oven checked. So, I called American Home Shield back and I talked to somebody there and they set us up with the Sears Huntsville service department.
The Sears gentleman came out right away on the next day and I was very satisfied with him. He stayed here quite a while and showed us some tricks on how to adjust the oven if we discovered it was off-temperature again and some ideas of how to improve the performance. I was very pleased with him and he did a great job for us. Now, overall, the oven's doing well. We've been American Home Shield customers for I 10 years and we've been very satisfied with the service. We don't use it a lot, but when we have, everything has gone very well.

I have 2 open claims right now where one was for a faucet in a bathtub. The contractor said that they ordered the parts from Moen and then I should have had the parts by now but I still don’t have them. That was more than a week ago and the plumber got back to me and said, “Oh, the only thing I could do is contact Moen again.” But nobody ever contacted me and I'm not sure what’s going on with that. The other one is for the pool pump that was making a very loud noise. That experience was great as SoClean came right out the next day and then came back the day after as they had to get a part. Still, they fixed it immediately. They were in and out. And so everything’s fine now and the pool pump has no more noise. However, SoClean was supposed to get back to me on the cost for repairing. They said they weren’t covered under warranty, but they didn’t get back to me on that. It's a month or more old and yet nobody’s getting back to me.
Another problem I have with American Home Shield is the payment for the roofing job done by my local company. When I first bought the house, I had the warranty on it and I continued it until now that I’ve owned it for a little over a year. I had a roofing leak and they couldn’t send somebody for a month. I said, “My roof is leaking? How can you not send somebody out for a month?” They said, “Well, you can get a local person to come fix it and we’ll pay up to$1,000.” So, we called a local person out. They talked to Home Shield's roofing people on the phone, and an agreement to pay the $800 or something to fix it was made.
The local company fixed my roof and then about 6 months went by, I got a call from them saying, “This bill was never paid and you have to pay.” I said, “What do you mean I have to pay? You guys were dealing with my insurance company on it.” They asked who the insurance company was and then said, “Okay. I see it here on the file. We’ll call them.”
Then, not too long ago, as it very rarely rains in Las Vegas, I noticed that it was leaking down the wood part of my house. It’s not leaking inside my house anymore, but it’s leaking on the outside of my house across wood, which is not supposed to do that. So, I called up the roofing people and they said that they could send somebody out. I said, “Well, you already sent somebody out to fix it. They were our local company. Should we call them?” They go, “Oh yeah, call them. It’s probably under warranty.” So, I called them up and they said, “You know what? Over a year has gone by and we still haven’t gotten paid on this.” I said, “You’re kidding me? They never paid you?” And they said, “No.” I said, “I'm so sorry about that. I’ll call them up.”
I called up the roofing people and I said, “Please, can you find out what’s going on here?” I left a message for them, then they called me back and I explained it to them again. They said, “Okay. I’ll check into it.” But that was probably two months ago and nobody’s gotten back to me until now. While I'm not gonna spend my life tracking some roof guy down in some roofing department in American Home Shield, somebody should track them down and somebody should make them pay for it. It’s been over a year and the local company still haven’t gotten paid. Also, it’s leaking again and they’re not gonna come out and fix it ‘cause they haven’t gotten paid. The leak is probably gonna rot the wood away in my house and then I'm gonna have more problems.
My experiences with American Home Shield are good and bad. If I had to recommend them, I don’t think I can. I'm thinking about switching companies because of all of this craziness that’s happening with the roofing guy not being paid. I feel like they’re trying to scam the him. I used a local company, they sent these workers out, and he should get paid.

I filed a service request to American Home Shield for a dishwasher that was leaking and an ice maker and a refrigerator's water dispenser that kept running when you try to get water out of it. The tech from BRM Services came out, looked at it and said that it was corrected. I left and when I came home in the evening there was a flood in my kitchen and basement. I called AHS, but the tech didn't come out. I had shut the water off as I was concerned about secondary damage because the kitchen was flooded and I had marble in the kitchen. But the ceiling tiles, a whole lot of them had fallen down because of the leaking through our basement, and the subfloor had gotten off.
They sent another company out, but it took several days because it was a holiday break. The guy that came out said he was gonna order a new ice maker. Nobody even looked if there was any damage and I don't even know how much damage it has done. I've had American Home Shield for a long time in several homes and my son has them too. I told their customer service to have somebody call me because I needed to know the policy if there was some serious secondary damage. I got Cherry Oak floors all through my house. It didn't get to those floors, but I don't know what condition my subfloor is. I'm not a carpenter, so I just replaced the ceiling tiles. Their rep just told me, "We're not responsible for secondary damage." And of course, I didn't accept that. I didn't read all the fine script, but if it's a secondary damage because you said you fixed something then it's not fixed, they should be responsible.
The tech came back out and fixed my dishwasher. I didn't hear back from him, although I left a message and requested for somebody else to come out. I wanted a second opinion on the refrigerator and the ice maker. I was disappointed that it wasn't fixed and then it leaked. And I'm just hoping I don't have any long term damage. I won't know until I removed those ceiling tiles and look under there. If something like that happened, AHS should send somebody out right away.

My tenant submitted a claim for a broken dryer on the rental unit of mine. Bert’s Appliance Repair and Services was sent out and the tenant said that the dryer was fixed easily, so it was nice. The tech didn’t have to replace anything as well. The only thing I didn't like about it was that the issue cost me $95. Other than that, American Home Shield's coverage has been on the property for about 2 months so far and I selected them over other providers because of the cost and their reputation.

Our American Home Shield came with the sale of the house. The dishwasher looked old when we moved in here, so I wasn't surprised at all it was going to go --- There was water leaking outside of it. I emailed and we had somebody from Donaway call me or told me to call them. The repair company was very fast and efficient. Within two hours, the guy was here, which is usually unheard of. He was great, helpful and smart. He said he'd come right back out if it leaked again, but that hasn't happened. The problem was taken care of.

American Home Shield handles claims well. However, when I had to have my washing machine replaced, the process took about three weeks to go through, which was quite a while. It had to go through their purchasing department and there was a lengthy delay waiting for them to review the claim. But when I reported a heating issue, a technician was at my house within 18 hours, which was really fast. And it was a great experience.

I called AHS to submit a claim and the customer service reps were very good. However, we had that big storm, so it took two weeks for someone to come out to our home to rekey. We had to reschedule it a couple of times but the guy from Realty Rekey was very nice. The locks are all working great.

Within five minutes of me sending a note to AHS, ANB Plumbing called and let me know what time they were coming. Then, they showed up exactly when they said they were coming. The tech wasn’t here but 15 minutes, and it was fixed. They were awesome. I've been submitting claims over the phone, but I did it online this time for the plumbing issue. I’m old school and I don’t do a lot of stuff on computers, but this was very simple. I'm very satisfied with both AHS and the plumber.
I have had AHS in a previous house and again in my current house for 5 years, so I've had them for close to 10 years already. They're a little bit more expensive than their competitors, but it’s worth it because they cover more. They cover exactly what they tell me they’re gonna cover. There’s no hidden secrets. They’re very responsive, professional, and quick.

I got an email which caught me at the right time and I thought, "I really ought to do this because it's getting wintertime. There's this, there's that, this could go wrong, that could go wrong." American Home Shield was not anything special except that I liked the price. I read all the instructions and it was clear and straightforward. It was not the first one I have seen -- I've probably seen 30 of those from companies that offer those types of things. But, I liked the way AHS presented it.
I then called them. I spoke to someone on the phone and they were friendly, helpful, and very professional. I'm a skeptical old lady, so I wanna know exactly what is going on and they answered my questions and so I said, "Sign me up." I have had the contractor Choose the Right Door out twice and they have been right on top of my garage door issue. They knew what to do and they got it done. I've been nothing but thrilled that I signed up for American Home Shield. It is the smartest 50 bucks I pay every month.

I've had several plumbing issue in the last six months. I know Absolute Water Heaters has been out to my place a couple of times for a couple of different things. One was for a water heater and the other was for our garbage disposal. I was very pleased with them in both times that they’ve been out. I wish I could find somebody like that on my own, but I never could. In the little town that I live in, most vendors are just concerned with getting in and getting out, and leaving as much as they can back to the homeowners. So, when they came out, my issues were minor, and both times, they did more than they were actually sent out to do because the fix was so easy. So, other than making me feel inferior, they did a couple of little extra things just to make sure everything was gonna stay intact and tied, and I wouldn’t have any more trouble and they wouldn’t have to come back out. So, it was very refreshing.
For 16 years that I've been with American Home Shield, they haven’t let me down yet. And because of where I live, it’s 30 miles outside of Reno, nobody from Reno wants to come all 30 miles all the way out to where I live. So, I stuck with it for so long just because I couldn’t find anybody to come out. And that works fine, so at least I know I can get somebody out there without calling every single solitary vendor for whatever I need, asking, “Will you make the 30-mile trip?” So, I just stick with it because I know that AHS will find somebody to come.

The pool was draining so we noticed that the water level was going down. Making a claim was easy and quick, and the contractors were responsive and kept up communications really well. The tech told us everything that was going on. He had to go and get some parts, and then came back a couple days later.

I went online to submit a claim for a leaky toilet. I had the visit pre-arranged because it was a weekend and I was going out of town. They knew when I would be back and they came right away. They said any time does not include weekends. Mike, the tech, was great. He fixed it and everything is fine now. If their contractors are gonna be doing plumbing repairs, it might be good to open on weekends because that's urgent. I would have just gone to someone else if it was that urgent.

The garbage disposal was down. It was leaking and it wasn’t working, so the guy form Neely Brothers came in and checked if he could fix it. The unit could not be fixed, so he replaced it. He did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience with American Home Shield. Everything was fine.

Our water heater doesn’t work at all. I didn't have any hot water and it would turn off by itself, which was why we called American Home Shield. The contractor came the next day and they fixed it fast. It didn’t take more than 10 minutes. I’ve had AHS for two months and they're a good company. Everything is great.

Everything went fine when I spoke to AHS' rep. They sent 2 contractors. The second time around, they sent SAP Home Repair services to handle my plumbing claim. When I called AHS to see if I had to pay, the repair was scheduled for Saturday. Instead, SAP came on Friday. There was confusion with the appointment. Other than that though, I'm good. The tech from SAP said that the first person who worked on my issue may have been trying to get some work 'cause the problem wasn't a broken pipe. It was just grout dripping out.

I had issues with my faucet where the water wasn't coming out. Then there was a stoppage going on to where if I pour dish water down my sink, black goop will start coming up my bathroom sink and it will take forever to drain. The smell was awful, too. The contractor came and showed me how to handle the faucet situation. It needed to be cleaned out and then the guy snaked the kitchen and the bathroom sink. I haven't had any issue since. The tech was amazing and very friendly. He explained everything, told me what was going on, and gave me examples of how to maintain the pipes, so he was excellent. I'm very satisfied with American Home Shield.

All Hours Emergency Plumbing was excellent but I had a problem with the one prior to that, which was All Brand Appliance. The technician came out to my home on the 27th and he told me that I needed to defrost my refrigerator. I said that it was a self-defrosting refrigerator. Therefore, I needed them to fix it. He went to the back and vacuumed the back portion. He said that it was the only thing he could do. His boss was not gonna allow him to order a part. He didn’t do anything else. He said that there was ice on the coils, and he said he took the ice off. I had this problem a year ago and the same company came in. They put Freon in there to get it to work and the guy who came out said that if it didn’t work, they would probably have to replace the part. It worked up to this point. So, the temperature must have gone down in my freezer for my food to get a lot worse than what it is now.
My refrigerator freezer was not fixed and the AHS rep I spoke with mentioned that they needed to get the paperwork in from All Brand Appliances, which they have not turned in, and once AHS could see what was said, they could get someone else to look. I’ve been waiting for American Home Shield. I didn’t wanna come across as very pushy and I wanted to give them a chance to do their job and get back to me as they said they would. I even allotted for things to get wrong and I still haven’t heard from them. If AHS took care of this, I could have saved my food. So, my next move is to call the insurance company and say that AHS, the company that they recommended to me, did not respond. I will show the litany of what took place, that I gave them time, that I wasn’t disrespectful and that I’m trying to put myself in their position but they're not. So, now, I’m hurting and then, they took the money.
I normally never pay the contractors until the job is done but AHS pulled the money out of my account and paid the technician. Now, I have spoiled food and no service. It’s poor business. AHS wanted to wait for the voucher to come in to see what work was done. I told them I have a copy of it and I could send it to them but they were waiting on a voucher that was supposed to come in 48 working hours, and it was past that when I called back. I understood. I needed to give them a chance to do their job but AHS has done nothing and they collected again to pay for this month.
The young man was polite but flippant as though I was some uneducated idiot. I explained to them that if something is broken, there are parts to fix it. I’m upset about the service. It’s so wrong that I’m going through this with one company and they couldn’t take care of it. So, I’ll give AHS a couple more days to get back to me because I don’t know the legalities or what I can do because they're not doing what they should do as far as business practices. I’m paying money, and I’m not getting it. It’s like a breach of contract, so I’m looking at everything because it’s upsetting that they did this.
Not only would I not recommend AHS but I would also call my friends and tell them what happened to me. When we get a bad deal, we help each other out. My intent is to call USAA and tell them my experience, and give them my paperwork and explain the process, and eloquently put it out for them, who, what, when, where, how, why, and say that they recommended these people, and this is a very poor situation. They are gonna have to pay money to take care of my account. I’ll probably have to pay money later because I made a claim. If I don’t get anything done, I’m already looking now to find somebody else, unless they can clean this up really good.
I’m gonna petition USAA continuously, even if I have to send a letter to our board members. The longer that they take, the more I’m going to ask why they are endorsing AHS. This is more than a recommendation. It is on their site. I’ve been with USAA since I was 19 years old and I trust everything they tell me to do as well as who they tell me to do it with. So, this is so disappointing.

Rescue Your Air was sent out to us and they’ve been excellent. We got the same guy to come out both times and he was really courteous. He handled the problem and he explained exactly what all he was doing. We were really happy with him. We’ve only been with American Home Shield since January of this year, and so far, we have no complaints. We’ve been submitting our claims online ‘cause that was the easiest for us. While we’ve only used one company so far, apparently, American Home Shield picks companies well.

I get a faster response when I talk to people so I called AHS for my garage opener that does not allow me to use the remote to open the door. I had a scheduled appointment with Ace’s Garage the next day and then I had an excellent interaction with the guy who came out. He had to change a part and the garage door is working now.

When I turned our furnace on, I smelled a burning smell. I submitted a claim online to AHS and the contractors that were sent out were fine. They were just candid. Mostly, they just cleaned because it was dusty.

I submitted a claim to AHS because our refrigerator wasn’t freezing. Submitting the claim was pretty easy. The technician knew what he was doing as well. He fixed it all in one day. I also submitted a claim for the air conditioner. It was leaking and the technicians were very courteous. They had to order a part. They came back in three days and the problem was resolved. It’s fine now. I’m very satisfied with AHS.

I had AHS before, and then about two years ago I let it fall off. And then they started doing a monthly deal, so I started doing that one because it was more reasonable. I could fit it into the budget. Recently we had a couple of issues with the washing machine. It kept going off balance but the contractor of AHS finally wrenched it down pretty good and it has worked perfect since. The contractor was very helpful, informative, explained everything and got in and did what he needed, and went about his way.

My most recent appliance claim with American Home Shield went beautifully. I couldn't be happier. The repair guy from Appliance Wizard came out. He was very friendly. He was able to diagnose and fix both problems in about 15 minutes. They did exactly what they're supposed to do. It was great. I've been really happy with how quick American Home Shield to get somebody out to me. It's been wonderful since I moved over to them. Also, the communication with American Home Shield was so much better than the one I had before them. With the other company, I would be told, "So and so will contact you." I would give them the allotted amount of time. Nobody would call me, so I'd call them back. They'd say they'd get somebody right on it. And it was always a hassle. I feel American Home Shield is easy.

I have a cabinet fridge and Mr. Appliance was fixing the fridge. It wasn't keeping cool. I called American Home Shield to file the claim. The contractors told me who they were. They're very responsive and very professional. Their commercial thing on their phone says they don't park in any driveway, they have covers on their shoes, and they cover up the floor. They make sure everything's nice and neat when they're doing it. And then when they're done, they clean up and make sure everything's neat, and they leave. They were great. The fridge is working since then. It's amazing. We wanted to get a warranty company for a while and we picked American Home Shield, and it seems to work for me on anything I've come up with so far. I like how much it costs per month, plus what the fee is to have a contractor come out.

POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! This is our experience with this company. If I can give them no stars, I would. On 12/13/19, my parents' water heater broke. AHS sent a plumber over & all he did was say "oh ya it needs to be replaced". He then said that he needs to send a report to AHS and we'll get a call back from them. When they called it was to let us know that we won't get a new unit until Monday the 16th because its the weekend. Monday rolls around and nothing. My mom calls and she's told that a new unit will not be installed till Friday now. That's 1 week since it broke.. 1 WEEK!!!! My parents are 85 & 90, there is no way they can lift heavy pots of water just to bathe. We might be in Arizona but it's Winter & cold right now.
Tuesday, she calls again hoping something can be done. She's told now it's going to be installed Wednesday. Wednesday rolls around,they're waiting & no one shows up. Today, Thursday, she calls first thing in the morning & she's told that its a possibility that it wont be installed till the following Monday 12/23/19...1 week & 3 days later? THAT IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Now both my brother-in-law & I are involved. We've called & spoke to different reps all day and STILL NO WATER HEATER!!!! Now they are putting the blame on the Plumbing company because the person that came out originally got fired. Really? One plumber? One vendor? They tried to get another vendor to come out to do the install but they won't touch it because the unit is already disconnected. It was disconnected to replace the water damaged sheetrock on the back wall & the stand that the unit was on. Why wasn't this expedited sooner? Is this really the way the company does business? I don't understand why it's taking this long to get a hot water heater installed. Take note: I have sent an consumer complaint to the Attorney General, Better Business Bureau & the local news. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I had an issue with washer and dryer then we filed a claim with this company to fix it but after 32 days still not fix it yet because the contractors not showing up or they don't know how can fix it or canceling the appointments....because AHS hiring cheap and unexpert vendors for the repair of the items.... Very disappointing!

So our air conditioner was having problems and not working well. American Home Shield said we had to have someone come out that they approved to inspect the unit. After the inspection they said they would only authorize replacement of the inside coils, not of the whole unit, even though both the inside and outside units were old, not compatible, and not working well. I said, "OK, if I pay for a new unit, will you reimburse me what the coils would cost?" They said yes.
I replaced the whole system at my cost, yet here I am many months and many phone calls and emails later and I have not received a dime from them. Every time I call I get a foreign person. They keep saying yes, they have me in the system. Last call they said they would be sending me the check. Nothing. You’d be better off saving the monthly fee in a savings account and using it when you actually have a repair to make. Don’t give them your money or business. My contract number with them was ** if you want to confirm what I say. And the icing on the cake was when I canceled my policy they sent me a bill for $9.05! Are they crazy?

Going on day 6 without lights. Forced to use their contractor only they could not find one for 3 days and authorized me to find one. I call a well know local company and they were out the next day ready fix. AHS said, "We do not believe the cause and ordered a second opinion (fair enough). The second quy stated the same but now AHS said it is about price and they will only pay the second guy who cannot do the job until after Christmas... 8 day from now so 14 days with no light during Christmas???? 15 calls. 4 hang ups. 3 promises manager call backs. Still no light and no solution? Calling BBB as this appears to be a possible scam. Please take caution.

I've just recently been a customer of American Home Shield, since I bought the house, which would be a month now. My friends who have used them in the past were happy with them too. I called in to request change of the locks on the house because I was moving to a new home, and the rep I spoke with was very good. I got a call the next day and then the plan was for the following day. The guy from Rescue Me Locksmith that came out was nice and he did a good job.

Two months of trying to get a Washing machine fixed--they say they will follow up with the repairs but they never do. The technician they use shows up days after the appointment with no call. Then they show up with no parts. When they finally show up with a part, install the part--the machine still does not work. Even though after three attempts--a new washer should be offered--they SAY they cannot do that because they don't have a report from the Technician!!! And then they say they cannot reach the technician in order to get a report. THEN they asked me to call the technician and attempt to get a report. Definitely cancelling my policy. What a sham!!!

Getting a warranty sounded like a good deal as far as appliances and if things go wrong. We just started with American Home Shield. It's kind of catch-22 at this point. We had never used it before. We didn't know how they went about their business. But we're in a little bit of a controversy with them right now. We had an issue with our washing machine, and their service people came out four times. They were great. My washing machine was only four years old and the drive system was supposedly repaired, but we kept having similar issues with the machine. After four tries, they said, "We recommend that you get a new machine." So, AHS said, "Okay. We will make a recommendation as far as the machine that we will give you. It will be comparable to the one you have."
The one we had was one that had the computer system. It's very quiet and it practically dries when they spin it. And they recommended a GE. We did as much research as we could, but nobody had that particular model number. And then, I went to an appliance service that sells GE, and he said, "They're good products. They've been around for a long time." Although, he could not tell me that particular model number. We went ahead and got the one thinking it would be a good product. But what you don't know, ahead of time, is that they show you something over the internet that says, "Here's your machine." It gives the size of it, shows it being a white machine, gives the steel tub, and that that's what mine had and that it did not have an agitator. That was all we got!
They brought a machine and the guy ran it. He said, "I'm gonna run it with just water 'til it runs a complete cycle and then you can wash." First of all, it sounded like an airplane taking off. And then, when it was spinning all of the cycles, it sounded horrible! I kept thinking there's something wrong with this machine. When the guy left, I put some clothes in there thinking maybe it needed clothes instead of just the water. It did the same thing, and the clothes were not dry at all. I had to run my dryer twice to get them dry. And so, I called the company immediately that very day, and the rep said, "Oh, no problem.You can pay $120 stocking fee to get another one and/or they'll just pay you the money. And then you can go get what you want." I told her that was fine but I would like to talk to a supervisor about the restocking fee. And she said, "Okay. We'll have somebody call you."
They called me the next day and the lady was a little bit abrupt and said, "Your machine, that's your machine now. Since they unpacked it and they hooked it up, that machine is yours." When I told her it was not what they told me, she said I was supposed to tell them if it didn't have options. I asked how was I supposed to know that until I get the machine. She said they sent me something on the email about the machine. I told her it didn't have options, and she said, "Well, there you go. It didn't have any options." And I said, "Well, that's kinda like buying a car that's got brakes. You automatically think it has brakes." Mine did not have fabric softener dispenser or detergent dispenser. You have to pour it on your clothes. We haven't had that in years and years and years. I thought all machines had that now.
She kept saying, "No, you cannot return it." Every time I talked to somebody, I got a different story. When you say comparable, I expect comparable. The only thing this is it's a white machine. It's got steel tub and it washes clothes. Those are the only things comparable about this machine. There's nothing comparable to what I had. So far, our experience has not been a good one. It's the worst of the worst.

The man from Ample Air Systems fixed the heating unit. We were happy. The first time he came, he cleaned the contacts and thought it was fixed, but it wasn't. He came out the second time and replaced it. I think it was a printed circuit board and whatever the part was, he put in, and it works fine now. I had AHS before, and then I cancelled for a short period of time, and went back with them. In total, I had them for over a couple of years.

The touchscreen panel on the stove wouldn’t go on and wouldn’t do anything. The guy from 3 Boys came in and he wasn’t in here but probably 10 minutes. He unscrewed three screws and as soon as he moved the panel, it came on. We thought it was the breaker and he was gonna go check that but it was a wire loose in the back. He marked the breaker outside for me so I would know which one it is for the stove next time. He was polite and he was nice. We've had Home Shield for many, many years and I've kept them. They’ve replaced two water heaters and when I had some problems with the microwave, they came and fixed that. Also, the clicker on the stove wasn’t working and they fixed that a long time ago once, too.
So far, there has been only one claim that I had that I refused to pay the $75 for. It was for an old air conditioner and the guy came in, he went outside, and I don’t think he even touched it. He came back in and said I needed a new air conditioner and he left. He gave me a price of like 2,100 or something like that but what it was is that our dog had peed outside, so he saw that the panel was scratched on and stuff. I called a friend who had cried about just completing an air conditioning class and came over here. He replaced a part and charged me $70 to fix it. That was when I told American Home Shield that I was not paying the $75 for that guy to come tell me I need a new AC when he didn’t even look to see what it was.
For a while, they were upset about it and everything, but when renewal time came, the lady told me that I had to pay the $75 or I wasn’t gonna be a member anymore. It was already past the due date that they were supposed to fix my contract and stuff like that. I told her they were still taking money out of my bank monthly. So, if I was not qualified, they've already taken two payments out. I didn’t want my money back. And then, they never called back again. That was the only time that I had a problem with them.

When I bought my house and moved in, American Home Shield was what they had and so I just continued and I've been with them for 10 years now. When I submit a claim, I call AHS and they call the people to come. I pay the contractor an initial fee and they fix the issue. The contractors that they've sent out have been great, so far. They come in, they do their stuff and they clean up. The last rep who assisted me was very helpful, courteous and really knowledgeable because I had lost the contractor’s number at one time and they looked it up for me and gave me the information again. So, I’m very satisfied with AHS's service.

I had an appliance claim with American Home Shield and they sent Montezuma out. Everything went fine. The contractor was thorough. He explained what he did. He was polite, helpful, he knew what he was doing, and what I really liked was he explained it well. This guy was really good because, first of all, he called me and he said, “You know, why don’t you look up the numbers for me ‘cause it will save me the trip from having to go out there.” And I really appreciated that because I felt like some of the others before, they made two trips and then I’m paying two times, and I thought that it didn’t have to be that way. But with this person, he was very respectful of the fact that I was paying for the one appointment.

My wife calls or we go online and there’s a portal we can use to submit a claim. It’s straightforward. Recently, Five Star Plumbing came out and the experience was great. We had a busted pipe that we had to shut the main valve off, so we had no water. They got there promptly, and the plumber knocked it out in less than an hour. Also, we had an AC issue that was taken care of through Home Shield. It was a good experience as well. So far, in the seven months we’ve had Home Shield, we haven’t had any issues. They’ve been great.

In all the many years we’ve had American Home Shield in two homes, I've never ever had a problem with them, not even one time. Whatever way to submit a claim, it all works. They always respond and it’s always correct. It’s such a great system because if you don’t have a company like them, that means you gotta call a plumber, an electrician or an air conditioning guy. Then, you gotta get them to answer the phone, and to come to the house. I make one phone call to American Home Shield, and I get whatever I need.
I always know that their guys are pretty well-certified. This last time, they set me up with another supplier. When I reviewed them, the reviews were terrible, which was unusual for American Home Shield. So, I called them up, and there wasn’t even a hesitation. They said no problem and they would change it to A & R. It happens. But the beauty is you call these guys, and they're always qualified guys who come to the house. And it’s been a terrific experience for me. I couldn't imagine not having them. It’s about 600 bucks a year, and we had a new heating system put in our house. That was $10,000 worth of work, and they did it. A & R Service was also superb. They were a father and a son, very pleasant guys and they got here on time. They did a great job. It was not an easy issue, and they found ways of doing it. The results were perfect. We’ve had them here before, and I’ve always liked having them.
