    The first time I turned my oven on, it immediately started smelling like natural gas. So, I turned it off and called the utility company. They came out and tested it with their meter, and it had red-lined their meter. It was higher than what their meter went for gas, and the guy said it was creating carbon monoxide. So, he turned the gas off to the appliance, and then I called American Home Shield late Friday night. They sent out a repair person from Maughanster Appliance Repair the following Monday morning and he got it fixed. Since the repair, everything has been fine. Overall, I was pretty happy with how it went.

    Calling in is a pain because sometimes it gets disconnected. I did not know that I can do it online. One time I had a kitchen backup, so I could not wait two or three days to get a guy in. So, I paid $450 for a guy to come in and get it done. I called in at American Home Shield as soon as I got the guy to say there was no need to send any technician, but it wasn't recorded. They told me I was late and so the technician was already on his way, but I reported much earlier. There was nobody to report that online. They charged me $100, but it was no big deal.

    My recent claim was a nice experience. We made the complaint online and mentioned it was an issue with the heater, and I got a text early in the morning from Tom, asking whether I was okay with 11 o’clock. One of his team members visited me and he looked into it. The blower was off, so he needed to order one. Tom ordered the blower, and the next day he came back and fixed it. It was pretty straightforward in the sense that they knew what the issue was, and they were able to get the part in time. More than anything, they took it as a proactive effort.

    My claim with American Home Shield about a refrigerator went great. They sent out Robson Appliances and they were efficient, on time and rectified the problem. They came and they worked on the refrigerator where the doors were not closing due to the steel around the door and the latch was broken. Now, they close. The technician that came out was terrific. He needed to order a part, and then he came back. He came back rapidly every call. Everything is working great since the repair.

    I had a bad experience from a company that came out before on the air conditioner. We did let AHS know about it and we had to have somebody else come back out on the air conditioner again this past summer. We said "Whoever came out before, we don't want them back in our home." The AC is better, but issue was not totally rectified. It wasn't AHS's fault. but the air conditioning company that came out this last time. They said that they've done everything that they could. But somewhere along the line in the house, maybe the Freon is leaking and therefore, it's not getting as cold as it should.

    AHS's name is American Home Shield. I would really prefer it if their service center was here in America and not offshores. But the contractor they sent, Southwinds Electric, was awesome and kept in touch. When they got into a jam, they let us know that they were running late. Even though they were late, they kept calling us and let us know that they'd be here. And when they came out, they had everything on their truck and didn’t have to come back for another visit. Guy was in and out in about half an hour.

    When the temperature got cold, we switched from the air conditioner to the heater but it sounded like the thing was breaking. So we called it in but when the technician came by, he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. The noise stopped. He did check it very thoroughly though. He even came by later on to double check it on his way by here and everything seems to be working since then. So everything worked out. He did a good job. He was very courteous, thorough and competent.

    We're getting older and on social security, so our income isn't good. I needed to protect ourselves somehow. We've had Home Shield in the past and they've always been good. When we set up an appointment, the people always call and they're prompt in taking care of what problems we have and have gotten everything back in working order. Recently, they found that the fan in our AC was no good. The contractors were very good. They told us everything that was going on, what they needed to replace and what was acting up. They always got back with us too. In the end, they replaced the fan in the unit in the garage. Everything's been running fine since and we've been very satisfied with them.

    I used to have a home warranty but we had to cancel our service about three years ago and then I really missed them. We're with them again now and our experience with the last ticket has been excellent. The guy who came over was really good and he resolved the problem in no time.     The garage door wasn't going up and down. I called AHS and the contractor was able to make the appointment. He was a nice guy. He came out as scheduled and did the repair. But it needed something done that was not covered by the insurance plan. Had he told me the first time he was out that it was gonna go so quickly again, I would have had the extra work done the first time. They are costing me two service calls which I'm not happy about. Everything's working fine now. However, the service fees keep going up and the annual fee keeps going up, and I have very few claims, so I wish that wouldn't happen.

    Had a sewer backup issue. Called warranty, paid 75 service fee, plumber came out, did nothing, said couldn't do it because clean out is in the crawl space, was here less than 10 minutes. Home Shield won't pay my 75 back for a plumber that did no services. Don't recommend this warranty company.

    I had a previous home warranty company and when I needed them, they didn’t cover my claim. I went over things with a fine-toothed comb to find out exactly what American Home Shield covered so that I was getting the right coverage.     There was a time when I could not get our garage door open. I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield and found their site easy to use. They assign a contractor and I was told to expect them to call within 24 hours. Professional Door Fixers came out and diagnosed my problem. The tech knew almost immediately what the problem was and it as a matter of waiting for the okay from AHS to order the part. They came out again right away and the door has been working fine since they last came out.

    With AHS, I have not always had success with their 800 number. Once before, I had water spewing everywhere with pipes and they didn't get the emergency. It hasn't always been a great experience with them. Sometimes, the people they send out are not wonderful. But lately, it's been better. It has been great the last two years. They kinda cleaned up their act.

    We recently had the clothes dryer fixed. My husband had to submit a claim on the computer and then they called back and told us when the contractor would be here. When the contractor came, they took the top off of the dryer, and the tech said the issue was bearings. He was very nice and we were pleased with him. The dryer is working fine since then. But when we had the dishwasher fixed last year, we were not too happy with the contractor. There were two guys and they had to come back. The dishwasher is functional but it’s not as good as it was before it was broken.

    The dishwasher had an issue and we submitted a claim with AHS. They sent out a tech from ACE Appliance but it's not yet fixed. We've been going back and forth to Houston because my husband has cancer and when I got home, I went to use the dishwasher and it still wouldn't work. So, I went back online and I saw that there was a thing that could say it still has an issue and I did that. And the tech is coming back this Friday to try to resolve it. Other than that, I've been very satisfied with my experience with AHS and it's a good service.

    There was a plug on the dishwasher that wasn't all the way installed correctly. AHS sent out a tech from Superior Appliance Services of East Texas and he just knew what it was. He fixed it pretty quickly and everything went well. But I did not get a notification that he was going to be in my house 30 minutes prior. I got a text message saying he was en route, then a minute later, I got a phone call that he was there. By the time I received the phone call, he was at my door. Other than that, the claim was closed 24 hours after it was opened and I was satisfied with the timeframe. The claims process was also simple, smooth, and easy.

    I was having a leak from the ceiling in my basement bathroom. When the plumber came, he looked at the refrigerator but he didn't even move it. He just flashed his light back there. He said he didn't think it was from there. He went at my cabinet to where it's connected through and he looked at the dishwasher. He looked at the sink in the kitchen, the toilet and the sink on the main floor. He didn't go upstairs to the other restroom. He then said he needed access to the wall to do further diagnostics. But when he wrote it to American Home Shield, they said it's either the wall or the floor. He doesn't even know if he needs to go in that wall for sure to fix the issue. He's just assuming he has to go there to finish his diagnostics but he may have to go somewhere else.

    Now, I have to get someone to open up the wall or the floor. I have to get them there at the same time to make sure the person cuts in the place that the plumber needs, which is ridiculous when American Home Shield should just have a company that does both. And what I'm upset about is that American Home Shield doesn't cover all that. It's taking forever and if I get mold, they don't cover cleaning up the mold too. I wish something could have been done sooner, faster and with a company that could do everything.

    A friend of mine recommended American Home Shield and they are very good. I had a problem with my water heater. The house was recirculating hot water system and the recirculation pump failed. I called to submit a claim -- I prefer being able to talk to somebody directly. They said I would hear from them within 24 hours and I did. The technician named Randy from Intercity Plumbing came out after two days and he did a nice job. He was very quick and professional. Intercity was very good. I would like to have had them come sooner, but there was a holiday involved, so I can understand the delay. Overall, that was a good repair and Randy was excellent.

    We got AHS where we live and we got a couple of rental properties they got covered, too. And they're getting better. In the past we’ve had some hot water heater problems, where it took a little minute to get it taken care of. But this time the response was great. Our freezer stopped freezing and making ice so my wife submitted a claim online. They did excellent in that category. We usually get a call from whoever they recommend not too long after she enters the claim online. The tech from The Fridge Guy was good, and he came out on a Sunday. There has been some experiences where I wasn’t quite sure what emergency constituted. But this was an emergency because we could’ve lost our frozen food, and the response was great.

    I call if I submit claims and everybody’s done a great job so far. Then in a couple of days, usually, the contractor comes. The contractors are always super great. K&S Plumbing services came several times to take care of some plumbing. They installed the garbage disposer. Everything else they fixed is working fine. They worked on leaky faucets, two running toilets, but we still haven’t gotten one of the toilets right. It’s still running. It has phantom flushes so they’re supposed to come back to fix that.

    The refrigerator was making a noise and the ice maker wasn't working anymore as well as the door. It started a couple of months back and it just got worse. I went online and submitted a claim to American Home Shield, and they responded instantly. The contractor came out in two days. They called me because we weren't here when they showed up and I had to let him into the room where the refrigerator was. We got here on time and it worked out. They didn't have to leave. First, they looked at it and then, they had to get parts. It usually takes two times every time with AHS. Everything is good now and I understand that they had to get parts but it could have been quicker. Also, AHS should be more competitive on the deductible and pay for some of the things that they don't cover that other ones do.

    I’m pleased with American Home Shield. I started having a water issue problem, and we were not able to resolve that. The only thing the contractor told me that I could do is I could turn up the heat on it where it’s a little higher because they were not able to do that themselves. I told them they could do it, but since there were certain rules they had to stick to, I did it myself later. When my daughter couldn't take a hot bath, I started calling on friday evening and American Home Shield could not get anybody to want to respond over the weekend.

    I called three times, and on the third time, I talked to a representative who was really good. She kept calling around to make sure she got the right person who could work on all the claims I was requesting and when she called me back, she let me know that she got Immediate Response, a 24/7 company. Unfortunately, they're not able to come out till monday, but I appreciate that she took the extra time to try to find me the right company.

    I told Immediate Response that I’m not getting enough hot water from my heater. The plumber went up there, checked the tub and told me that he did a reading that said I'm getting enough gallons. I asked if all the elements worked. He said yes and that they couldn't do anything with it since I was getting enough hot water. It’s a 50-gallon tank and the plumber said that I get 40 gallons which is more than most people get. We left it at that then I told him about my kitchen faucet that needed some repair on the handle. Sometimes it leaks a little bit when I pull it out and squeeze the little trigger. He looked on there and said the whole thing would have to be repaired. He said he didn't see a name brand and he'd have to get authorization to repair it, so he took a picture and sent it in.

    At that point, we haven't fixed anything yet. I told him about my Whirlpool bath that hasn’t worked. I’ve been trying to youtube it and the issue looked like it was the air valve. He looked at it, said that the air valve came undone and put it back in. Overall, Immediate Response did well. They're very polite and the tub’s working for me. They cut a little hole in the back of the garage in the sheetrock, and someone came back out and patched it. I've had American Home Shield for five years and it’s worth the investment that you put into it. There's a lot of years I don’t use it, but then when I need to use it, I always have peace of mind.

    One day, I just lost all power to my garage. My garage door wasn’t working and my deep freeze that I have plugged in in my garage wasn’t working anymore. Fortunately, we noticed it and was able to plug the deep freeze in before we lost hundreds of dollars of food that’s in it. Lighthouse Electric was able to come out and the electrician that came out to service it got it working. But I kept having an issue with it tripping. He told me it was the breaker that was tripping. I let it go over the weekend because there would be times where it would stay all day, one day, and then the next day, it was just in and out. It would just stay on and then a couple of hours later, it’d just trip out.

    So, we had had him come back out. When he came out the second time, he went back through everything, and he noticed that the breaker that ran the electricity for the garage was on a 220-amp breaker, which only needs to be on a 120-amp breaker, not a 220. When I talked to him, he said, “I don’t even know how I missed it the first time.” He said, “But I swapped the breakers out,” and I haven’t had a problem with it since. He said he ran the garage door six or seven times by himself, it never tripped out, and he got everything set back up how it should be set up. So, everything is all hunky-dory now.

    The electrician came out on a timely manner. He didn’t talk to me directly because of my work hours and I'm not always available at my phone. So, he talked to my wife and he let us know when he was coming out. That was the one thing I really emphasized on when it comes to contractors and people coming out to my house, that I like to really know when they're gonna be there. I was very pleased with the fact that he was able to give notice of when he was coming so we could make sure that everything was ready or out of his way for where he would need to be.

    I've been covered with AHS for six years now. They have gotten better answering their calls and doing stuff online. When we first had them, it was not good. You can do all your service calls online now if something is broken, and not have to call in. I'm having an issue with one contractor right now that is not calling me back. It is my first time to experience this. He ordered the part four weeks ago and it hasn't been here yet and he hasn't called. I called American Shield and they're supposed to be getting back with me today. As for Ray Stovall Plumbing who came out for a plumbing issue, they fixed my problem right then and there.

    We had a plumbing issue and Nussbaumer Plumbing came out. It was the old pipes and they thought that there was just general buildup that hadn’t been cleaned because we bought an estate from someone that unfortunately passed. They cleared out the pipes and it only took plain routine cleaning. The time frame that was given to me was earlier than what they actually came, but they at least updated me and told me when they were coming and told me why they were late. So, at least the communication was good. This is the second time I’ve used AHS since having my warranty and they’ve always been very pleasant and always very helpful. I’ll actually use them again even if, for some reason, I don’t renew my warranty.

    American Home Shield sent Rapp’s Heating & AC out. I wanted to have the yearly inspection done, and so they did that. And then, I have two bathrooms, and each toilet and each showerhead had a problem, and so they fixed all those. It took three times coming out to get it all done, but they fixed both. In one bathroom, I had a showerhead that needed to be changed out. So, they did that for me. And that bathroom also had a problem with the toilet not filling back up. They got that fixed. And then, on the other toilet, the water was running constantly, sometimes slowly, sometimes, not so slow, and they put a new flat vent and they replaced something else on it that was old. On the shower in that bathroom, the showerhead wasn’t working well. So, they brought me a new one.

    The process of making a claim to American Home Shield is not a problem, but I did have a little bit of a problem with Rapp’s because the first time, they were supposed to come out and do the furnace inspection. They had a problem in the family and couldn’t make it, and that was okay. But the next time they were supposed to come out, I never heard from them and they never showed up. It was the third time that they came out.

    American Home Shield offered me a time, and I took the latest time, which was according to them was from 2:00 to 6:00, but Rapp’s said they didn’t do appointments from 2:00 to 6:00. It would have to be 12:00 to 4:00. But I didn’t know this before I was home in time. We weren’t there because we thought it was 2:00 to 6:00. So, we missed it once because we thought we didn’t have to be home until 2:00. My experience wasn’t perfect, but it was good.

    Way back, I pay AHS my annual fee then I would have a service fee. That service fee used to be $25 and now it's $75. Also, AHS doesn't cover garage door springs anymore. More recently, I had a water regulator repaired and I'm gonna have to pay $250 'cause the tech is gonna have to do something to my fitting. Still, service by Intercity Plumbing, the contractor sent by AHS to service my claim, was good. A guy came out and did the pressure valve. They're a small shop and they keep me informed when they are coming out. Overall, AHS has been pretty good. At my rental property, there were a couple of things that got repaired and taken care of.

    My garbage disposal wasn't working and we called American Home Shield. The plumber from the first company didn't show up on the time that they told us he was coming. He came out late in the evening, which was almost 8:00, and he was all scrubby and dirty looking. He got mud on my floor when he came in. When he got under the sink, I asked him if he wanted a flashlight. I also asked if he wanna look under there and if he needed us to turn off the power. He said he could see and that he could do it. Then, the guy wanted to take it off and the thing just started smoking.

    I called my husband because the guy didn’t know what he was doing. My husband said that he could go downstairs and turn off the power but he said that he knew what he was doing and he had done it before. So, my husband went down and turned off the power then the guy came in to work on it. He took it loose and I asked him if he needed a light. He acted like he had an attitude. The next thing I know, I told him that if he didn’t wanna be here doing the work, then he shouldn't be here. The thing needed to be replaced. He took it off, started walking out the door and left. He left the garbage disposal unconnected and the wire lying there. I called my husband and told him that the man just left and left this stuff here.

    My husband told the guy he couldn’t leave the garbage disposal. We got a hole in our sink. We gotta do things and he was just leaving the thing lying under the sink. He asked the guy to put it back on until we could get somebody else out here to do it. So, he came in and put it back on, but he left the water disconnected. I called AHS as soon as he left and told them that the man who came in here didn't wanna fix the garbage disposal. AHS did not send anyone else out.

    I didn't hear anything the next day until I looked at my account and they had taken out the $75 fee. I called AHS and told them that the guy didn't do anything. My husband had to get on the phone and talk to the lady because I got upset and I was kinda screaming that they need to get someone else out here to fix my garbage disposal and that they're not gonna charge me an extra $75. He talked to the lady and she said they were gonna investigate it and look into it. They said that the guy said there was nothing wrong with the disposal. I asked why my disposal was not working and why it was disconnected if there was nothing wrong with it.

    AHS must've contacted the contractor and told them that the guy had lied. The gal said she was gonna email the original company that came out. So, I guess they must've got in contact with someone over there because they texted me asking if they could come back out and send a senior plumber. I told them no. I didn't want them at my house anymore because I felt the guy would lie again. AHS sent another company and I told them not to charge me additional $75 because my disposal does not work. They said that they gotta see what the other guy would say and if he says there’s something wrong with it, then I am not responsible for the extra $75. So, when the guy came, he told AHS the thing doesn't work and AHS replaced it.

    I've had AHS for a very long time and this is the second time I had a flimsy company come out and do shady work, where I have to call AHS back and have someone come to fix it again. I don't know who they have working for them and if these people are licensed because the guy from the original company that came wasn't even in a professional van. He looked like he was off the street. Then the other company that came, the guy was professional and he was in a plumbing company. It had a plumbing sign on it and he wasn't nasty.

    The companies that AHS vets for their contract should be professional and know what they're doing because I pay AHS $62 a month. I've been with them over 10 years. I've had my house 31 years and I had a break in there maybe for a few months and started back again, but I have had that warranty over 20 years. I'm happy with AHS but this is the first time I had a problem where the guy lied. I'm not happy with it but I'm not gonna stop paying them or discontinue it. I'm gonna see what happens if anything else breaks.

    We had a guy come out maybe a couple of years ago to work on our furnace. The first company was sloppy and then, when we called AHS back and told them there was a problem, they sent somebody right out. This is the only time they did not send someone out right away after I told them the contractor didn't fix it. This is the first year they ever did that to me. AHS needs to follow up, especially if I call and tell them that this guy did not fix this thing instead of just taking my money and taking the plumber's word for it.

    AT Appliances showed up on time when I had a claim for my dishwasher. The gentleman is knowledgeable, and the issue turned out to be a switch behind the dishwasher. He did his job and he was able to fix the issue. The warranty is definitely worth the $75 that I spend, plus the monthly fee, with the cost of replacing and repairing something. It’s reasonable. I have had a dryer replaced at one time. The warranty has paid back itself. But the fee should be much less or in a sliding scale. If it was a big project, then I could understand the $75, but if it was something as simple as turning a switch, I wouldn’t pay $75 for that.

    We had someone come out on the 4th of December, and he checked out our microwave and saw what he needed to do. He said they’d get in touch with us or that he’d get the part in five days. In the meantime, we had to rush my husband to the hospital and he was hospitalized for 11 days. I checked the voicemails on the home phone a couple of times and I hadn’t heard anything, but we couldn’t get involved with the microwave until our crisis was over.

    When I called up, I found out that the person left a message but it was on his cellphone, not on the home phone, so we didn’t get it. The person I talked to on the phone was very helpful and she said that the person sent us the option of some microwaves that we could pick at no cost to us.     As a female, you're usually taken advantage of with different things when it comes to repairs. So, I decided to go to an agency. I had another provider and what they were offering was not enough coverage. The time that you put in the claim and you saw someone to do the repairs was long. I looked at the TV commercial about American Home Shield and told myself to see about it. AHS has been an excellent company. For the air conditioner issue, the contractor put a fuse in. It's in a rental piece of property and the tenant has no complaints. I submit a claim by phone and I always go to a person. I don't like automated systems where you ask them questions and don't get a straight answer for. The claims representatives have been good. They've been better than some of the companies that they sent to do the repair.

    AHS needs to check on the companies that they hire to do jobs. They need to start evaluating them a little bit more. I have not had a bad relationship with anyone that they all have ever sent. It's more the appointment time that I have issues with sometimes. When I had to get something replaced, I had to call different numbers to get attention. The contractors take care of their personal customers before they take care of Home Shield customers. I found that when I called to set up an appointment. AHS sets the appointments, but they also give you the phone number to the agency that's gonna come out to do the work, and that's what I like about them.

    This April, I bought a house with a warranty of American Home Shield Warranty. This November I had water leaking issue in the bathtub of the master bedroom and this is not just water-dropping but it continued to damage on the roof of the garage so we locked the main valves then contacted AHS. Their sales represent allowed me to call the local technician to prevent future damage so it was fixed then we presented the invoice to AHS.

    A few days later, we got the mail from AHS that they couldn't any reimburse due to not being fixed by the technician in their network. Unfortunately, the same issues happened this Dec-2-2019 so I directly claimed to AHS and arrange the schedule. AHS scheduled the repair next Monday (12-9) which means we had to survive without water to the next week since AHS said that's the earliest day they can so I ask for help to re-scheduling taking 1 hour talking with the representative. Finally, they sent a technician the same day but he's not doing anything because he didn't have parts so we'll still not using waters for 5 days.

    They never contact me giving service schedule so now I keep dialing. Almost feel Homeless. Oh, I forgot to tell you one more thing. Their website showing me that this case has been completed... Are you kidding me???? This is not the service, this is the scam itself. Do not buy this warranty because you will get trouble the same now I undergoing.

    When Paul's Appliance Service came out for my range, they were not able to repair it. It's really an old range, which needed a thermostat and some kind of a pocket for the light because the light didn't stay lit. They called back and said they couldn't get the part. Apparently, it was not easy to get the part. I talked to American Home Shield yesterday and they ordered me a new stove. It's an Amana so it'll be fine. Within about 10 days, I could hear from the guy who's gonna come and install it and we'll go from there. It worked well and we were happy.

    I had American Home Shield 25 years ago on another house so I knew they were good, which was also why I took them out. We bought a preowned home and the sellers said that they'd pay for AHS policy for the first year. We had no idea what it was, but in the first year, both heat exchangers and both air conditioning units had to be replaced. AHS took care of everything except for the disposal fees, which was not much.

    I had a contract with American Home Shield early 2003, and then I discontinued it for a while. I had an experience with another home warranty company and it wasn't good, so I went back. This time, I've been an AHS customer for a year. When my furnace has stopped running, it had a loose wire, I submitted a claim online. It was easy to find what I needed in their website. I submitted it early in the morning, but I spoke with the tech's office and I knew that he was busy that day, so it was about 5:30 in the evening when he came out. He was very good. He fixed it for us that evening, but it quit running again. He then told me it was probably a temporary fix, and he needed to get some parts and authorization for the repair. And so, he handled it very quickly.

    We did have to wait several days for some repair parts to come, but the tech was just so accommodating. He always called me to let me know what the situation was as far as where the parts were at and how long we have to wait. He was always there when he said he'd be there. I was extremely pleased with his service. The furnace is working wonderfully now.

    We have a smart thermostat, and it kept telling us that our auxiliary heat was running for too long. So, we looked into it and it turned out that our normal heat had burned out. By the time the regular heat system was shipped out and ready to be replaced, the auxiliary heat had also burned out from running too long. So, everything needed to be replaced in the end. I did the claim online and the contractor was super helpful. If I had to do something that couldn't go through my home warranty again, I would definitely work with them again. We had to have an entirely new HVAC unit outside and a new heat pump inside, and they had to come out a second time because the part had to be shipped out. It took a little over a week from when the claim was filed to when everything was back on. It would have been great if it was done day one or any faster, but given all of the circumstances, I wasn't upset about the timeframe.

    When I put a request in to repair the garage door, the rep I talked to on the phone said that it was covered. I explained everything in detail, that it was the garage door that was broken, not the garage door opener. But when the garage door people called me and found out that it was not the opener, which I had already explained to the warranty rep, they said that it was not covered. It was a pain because if the rep had just told me it was not covered right from the beginning, then I wouldn’t have gone through all that. I was in a hurry to get that door fixed too. However, when the light fixture stopped working, the tech quickly solved the problem. On the first visit, he determined that it was a fixture problem. And on the second visit, he brought the parts and fixed it.

    Axis has been here about two or three times and every time they come here, it’s like there’s a missing part or something of that nature. They just repaired my appliance about a week ago, and after 24 hours, I had the same problem all over again. I called American Home Shield and the service individual indicated to me that she would contact Axis. They made an appointment for today, but they just called me a few minutes ago that they might not be able to come today.     The heat would not turn on. The compressor outside would try to click on and would immediately shut off. The heat would come on for about maybe a minute and then it would stop. It was a wiring issue. R Harris came out and the technicians were excellent. They repaired the AC. It's an older unit, so it's on its last leg but it's working.

When I set up the work order online through American Home Shield, the individual sent me a text message later in the day asking about my refrigerator, when he could come out and what the problem was. I explained it to him and showed him a picture. He saved a lot of time. He was able to order the parts by just looking at the pictures. So, he didn’t even come out until the parts were out, then he came out. He came out on a Sunday ‘cause it worked better for me, and he did what he needed to do and left.

    When my disposal was not working, the contractors did a good job. They came out and had the part, and fixed it that day. I also had a furnace issue. The contractor came out and had to get the part. It was a couple of days later before the part came in and they installed it. When I had an issue with a dishwasher, I don’t think the guy really looked at it. I showed him where it was leaking, and he said that it was not leaking. Later that night, we turned it on and it was leaking again. I took more pictures and when he came back out, he said it was leaking. Other than that, the service has been good and submitting claims online has been easy.

    The washer was fixed. The company came right on time and right away. It was a good service. I think it was something wrong with the water filter. But in submitting that claim, it took us, like, 10 months to talk to the representatives. We were doing it online and we never got an answer until my wife called, and she was waiting for 25 minutes to get answers. So, it took us a long time to fix that. The problem was that every time we went and try to do it online, AHS said that we didn't have any membership with them when we were with them for I think three years already. I was trying a different company too with other houses and it was the same problem.

    When I bought the house, American Home Shield came with it and all I got was a phone number and account number so I don’t know what was covered. If I had known that a call for my dishwasher, which was an appliance, would have also covered my stove, which was also an appliance, I would have put it in. Now I’m gonna have to spend another $75 because I can’t get one of the burners to light. I didn’t know those things. I’ve gotten lots of emails, but I haven’t gotten anything that has given me some information about what the program was all about. I’m not happy about that part and I would have appreciated a mailed copy to my home address.

    Everything went perfectly for my dishwasher claim though. The latched hadn’t latched appropriately, so it leaked all over the kitchen floor. I was able to get someone out here within a couple of days. The contractor was on-time, clean, personable, fun, and knew what he was doing. He fixed the latch that was the problem.     I did the claim online because calling sometimes takes a lot longer. When you get older, you're not that savvy with tech stuff, but it was easy for me to file the claim. There was a leak in the toilet and in the faucets that come up from the floor with the water supply, so it was running day and night. It was a fairly new Kohler toilet, and the insides are different than they used to be. It wasn't leaking where the tech thought it was going to, and he had to get a different part.     We were having issues with the pilot light on the furnace. We would light it and it would stay lit for maybe a couple of hours. But then, when the furnace would kick on, it would blow it out and we wouldn't have any heat. I went over the phone to submit a claim, which worked out. I was able to go ahead and explain what was going on and what I needed them to come out and take a look at. We had it fixed within a day and a half of putting the claim in. Foxcroft came out and they diagnosed it right away. The tech had the furnace up and running within 45 minutes and we haven't had any issues since. This is our second claim and AHS has done really well getting it all taken care of.

    The refrigerator wasn’t cooling and we couldn't fire it up. It had to thaw itself out. I called at 7 o’clock in the morning and had Fidelity Appliance Services that day to take care of the problem. The guy said to wait 24 hours. I waited and found that where it had frozen over the coils, there was some water under the refrigerator. He explained exactly what was gonna happen and it did. In 24 hours, I fired it up and it has been working fine.

    He also took care of the dryer. I went to use the dryer the next day and it didn't heat up so I called. The lady told me that I went through the manager or the owner of Fidelity and he said that I needed to get the vents cleaned out. There was a hole that went from the dryer to the wall where the vent was. I pulled the dryer out and disconnected it from the wall. I shook the shiny piece of aluminum and lint came out. I shook it some more and lint filled up a plastic grocery shopping bag. Nobody ever told me it needed to be done before. Then, I plugged the dryer into the wall and turned it on, and it heated up immediately.

    It could have started a fire. A big clog that was blocking the flow of the air and it had worn out the pressure thing. The guy showed me when he replaced it. I called the lady back and said that it was a good thing of her telling me this. I asked if she could pass it on to another customer because from now on, I would have somebody come out and do my vents.

    When AHS had to replace the garage door opener, that was expeditious. Also, when something went wrong with my air conditioner outside, a guy came out right away and fixed it. He was honest with me saying that he didn't know if it would hold up as we still got more summer to go. He said to give him a call if something happens. It wasn’t two hours after he was gone and sure enough, it happened. He came out and replaced the motor and I haven’t had any issues since. As far as the protection of American Home Shield goes, I feel very comfortable. I don't stress over this. I am a home health nurse so I am out in the public. I run into patients and tell them to get American Home Shield ‘cause most of the time, when buying a house, they can get one year of home service. After that, they either renew it or shop around and so I recommend American Home Shield.

    When my initial call for a plumbing problem was placed, it seemed ages before a plumber could be allocated to look at the problem. And because it was before Thanksgiving, I was allocated someone for Tuesday. I tried to accelerate it for someone to come around on Saturday, which they did.     My trash disposal wouldn't come on and it started to smoke, so we unplugged it. And then, the spigot would only turn partway, it wouldn't turn all the way. So, a plumber came out, somebody was with him, and checked a couple of things. He has this little tool. He said something was caught in it but we couldn't see anything. He pushed from bottom with this little tool and there was a tiny piece of plastic caught in there. He fixed that and he showed me how to do it. It was an easy fix. And the other thing, he said it was probably too many minerals built up. Unfortunately, I'd have to replace the whole thing but I haven't. I'm just working with that. The plumber was excellent.     The water heater in my mom's house stopped working. My daughter called Home Shield to submit a claim then she had to go online, so she had to do it twice. Then a guy from Universal Plumbing came out and they brought the water heater out. He fixed it, she paid him, and then he left. I pay the AHS bill for my mom's home and we've had AHS on it since about 3 months ago. I already had a warranty provider and we had trouble with this other one because they came up with some crock-and-bull and they got rid off all of us down here in Kentucky 'cause we live in a little country town. So I had to find another company.

    With Home Shield, I don't have any problem. I even save money with them 'cause my washer and dryer both went out at the same time. It had been about two weeks and I told them, "Let's not file a claim. What we're gonna do is go buy some new washer and dryer and then work from there." So we got new washer and dryer for the house.     Since September, we've been with American Home Shield and I'm grateful for it. This is our first home and it's been a nightmare. We found out this morning that the kitchen sink was leaking. When making a claim, anything that I can do quickly online is fine by me. We had a heating issue and AHS sent out United Air Temp. My mom and husband were home first because I was working late. They let the technician in and he checked everything. Once he did the tests for the leak, he found out the outside was leaking. He could fix the coil on the inside piece but it would need to have Freon pumped in once both were fixed. That was gonna be more than we were ready to spend. And because of the age of the inside unit and the two-year-old outside unit not being sufficiently capable, the tech said that if it was leaking after two years, then it was basically a sub-par piece of equipment that the previous owners put in just to sell the house.

    Based on that, my husband decided we might as well just replace the whole thing. We’re gonna end up replacing both the outside and the inside unit. Other than that, everything went fine. I’ve heard horror stories of other warranty companies. With American Home Shield, even though we have to replace the air conditioner and there’s nothing they can help with, it was at least nice to know that I can call somebody out and at least cover something.

But I found it very difficult to get information from the representatives when I called the phone number. I've also had a few problems with the first couple of claims I've had to file.     My first experience with American Home Shield wasn't great. I've had three different technicians come out for one issue. The first said that he fixed the blown fuse and that we would get heat, but we didn't. The second guy said that the Georgia Power Credit Program was not sending a signal to the furnace. The last issue, which we’re experiencing right now, is with the zone panel. It is still not solved and we don't have heat. It was out on order today, so hopefully, it’ll be here Friday.     Having AHS, I don't have to look around trying to get people to come here. The contractors have been pretty good for the most part, although I've had a couple of lemons. I had A & A Heating and Cooling and they were on time, professional, and did everything I asked them to do. I like to call up and talk when I submit claims. It's easier sometimes to just talk to an agent. But the prices are getting pretty pricey for us as far as the copay and sometimes, talking to an agent is rather hard. I'm 20 or 30 minutes on the line waiting for them to pick up because they're either on the other call or doing something else.

    I was a little irritated at one of AHS' rulings on one of my claims, for the toilet tank. I’ve lived in the house for six years, and the toilet tank all of a sudden started leaking. My plumber wrote it up as, “The toilet bowl’s cracked,” and he gave a reason, “probably over tightened at installation". So, American Home Shield ruled that that was not normal wear and tear. For me, it was wear and tear because, regardless, it didn’t start leaking for six years. They didn’t approve it. I didn’t have time to deal with it so I went and bought a new toilet. Other than that, I’m pretty pleased with American Home Shield. I’ve had them for over 20 plus years in most of my homes.     I couldn't open the garage from the outside or the inside. It messed up. And so, American Home Shield sent a company out and they had to replace the panel in the motor of the overhead garage track. The contractor was inside when he pushed the button for it to go up and go down, and it worked fine. But then when I got out on the street like I was coming in, it wouldn’t open. I called them back out and they came and they said, “It’s electrical interference. You need to get a different bulb,” which I did.

    I had a problem with my kitchen sink faucet and the garbage disposal. Within 15 minutes after I submitted a claim online, I got notification from the plumbing supplier.     I had three different claims. It was for my washing machine, my range and my cooktop. I called because I couldn't get the claims online with multiple appliances. The first contractor did not even touch the oven and knew exactly what my oven was. He was very intimidated by it and didn't tell me anything. He said he would have somebody else come out. Finally after I questioned him, which took another two weeks, he did order parts for the washing machine, but he didn't even know the serial number so he had to keep calling me back to get information or pictures of my machine. But the second contractor was fantastic. He knew how to work on all the machines. The oven still doesn't work though. I was without an oven for almost a month and a half. They'd repaired it and now, it's out again. American Home Shield's service and getting the contractor out to me were not very good.

    I call to file my claims and the customer service is good, except that if I can't understand their English and I ask to talk to someone else or a supervisor, they will not do it, and that disturbs me. If I can't get my point across, it's hard to talk to somebody if they're talking and they won't listen to me. So, I should be connected to a supervisor if I ask to talk to a supervisor. Also, I already recommended them, but I won't again for a while 'cause one of my friends did not get the kind of service that she should have received.

    I had a microwave problem and it took me over two months to get it fixed. So, it has caused me to reconsider about renewing my American Home Shield. But with the plumbing one, Stallion came right on out, were out within a couple of days, and made the repair. The people that did the plumbing did a great job and they had the parts readily available. They replaced the cartridge. When you consider how slow American Home Shield is and their contractors, I was extremely pleased for how quickly they came out and made the repair. I've been with American Home Shield for over a year on this new house. I have another house where I had an account with AHS, too, for 10 years.

    Once I figured out how American Home Shield works, it has been good. All the repairmen have been good. When Modern Plumbing came out, they told me what was gonna happen, and they followed up on that, and that was what happened, and it’s been very good. The furnace claim was the most difficult, and that wasn’t with the service people, that was with American Home Shield. Getting it all lined up was ridiculous.

    American Home Shield didn’t have anybody to do the furnace in this area. And the person on the phone told me that American Home Shield would not be honoring my warranty with regard to my furnace because there was nobody there to do it. She was ridiculous about it. The following night, a gentleman called, and he said he had it all straightened out and it was all scheduled. When I called to check the status, they said they still had no one in the area. But Modern Plumbing is right close to American Home Shield, and then it’s close to Ryan’s, the people that American Home Shield were signing up to do the furnace work.

    Liz, the lady that helps at Modern Plumbing, told me that I had to call and request a service from American Home Shield before anything can happen. So I did that and they still told me that they weren’t working with Ryan’s Plumbing. I called Ryan’s Plumbing back and the guy said he had several conversations with American Home Shield. He said it had been a difficult process for him to get signed up, but it was all set to go. Liz at Modern Plumbing told me once everything’s signed up with American Home Shield, they’re great to work with, which turned out to be the case with Modern Plumbing. Everything went the way it was supposed to go. But we were afraid our furnace was gonna go out before we got anybody here to fix it. But that’s all in schedule now. They’re supposed to come out tomorrow.

    The service people that American Home Shield contacts to do the work were amazing. Everything goes fine once it gets scheduled. But American Home Shield has a lot of work to do on their end with regard to the people handling the service calls. The telephone people that we reached when we called the number didn't know anything. They were just supposed to schedule an appointment. I had a number that I could call, but it was always a voicemail and I never get a return answer. The scheduling people were not trained very well. They were probably not even in America. Their accents were so heavy, and you couldn’t understand them. They need to use American people. And if they are Americans that have immigrated here, they need to work on their speaking abilities.

    I called AHS because the water was leaking underneath the sink in the bathroom. They said they'd send somebody out. The contractors called on a Saturday, and it was Tuesday they said they'd be there. So, I had to quit using the sink in the bathroom which wasn't too big of an inconvenience. I had two different instances with the customer service of AHS and they've been very helpful both times.

    The first time, a claim for the over-the-range microwave, they wanted somebody to fix it instead of replacing it. They sent out one guy. He said he couldn't read the serial number on it so, he couldn't fix it. So, they sent another guy out. The other guy found out the serial number. He was a more experienced than the other guy was. And the other guy was from Sears. This guy seemed to know what he was doing. He had it all taken apart and had all the electrical wiring and stuff out. It was something in there. He said that was way too much to try to fix it, and so he was just having it replaced.

    I called in my claim to American Home Shield and everything was recorded, so there were no mistakes. The reps were good and they told me what I needed to do and how I was gonna pay. They also gave me a confirmation of when they were gonna go ahead and told me the technician was coming out. So, they were on it every step of the way.

    It was supposed to be just a routine check-up when Total Air Care first came through. While they were doing that, which was good, they found the problem. They identified it and told me about it. Something was freezing up so they continued with the service and then, they had to put in a new service request. They stayed with me until I made the claim and then, they came back out and fixed it. They were professional and knew what they were doing. The service was good and it didn’t take long. Every time I needed something, AHS checks them out and if there was something else that goes with it, they would explain everything to me prior to it.

    I have called American Home Shield to come take a look at my ceiling fan. It took about 2.5 weeks for someone to come out. The technicians were polite and noticed my ceiling fan isn't serviceable anymore so they requested AHS for a new fan. The next day I get a call from the contractor saying everything was covered and I would be getting a new fan with a remote control but because I cannot use the same fan brace that is in the attic I would have to pay for that because that is a modification. AHS does not cover modifications. American Home Shield will cover a fan with a remote when I don't need the remote because the same fan they ordered has the option of not having the remote control attachment. The fan cost almost 100 dollars more for the remote.

    AHS does not cover a ceiling fan support but they will cover a remote so you can have the comfort of sitting in your easy chair and pointing a remote to turn it on or off. I guess I know what priorities AHS are more important to them. A remote controlled fan over a brace. I don't expect AHS to respond to this negative review but I hope people read this and realize what is more important to AHS. CONVENIENCE OVER SAFETY.

    I am a 10-year customer of American Home Shield. They recently denied my pair of my washing machine over items that a previous contractor had broken. A button and the frame not being reattached correctly. They will not repair my washer because of this. They never call you back and they never follow up. All they do is take your monthly payment. They will not even send me out the denial of my covered item. They leave you in an endless loop and never follow up nor care about your issues. If you miss a payment though they will definitely call you. Avoid this company at all cost.

    The contractor that AHS sent out was amazing. I told them that I was gonna be a few minutes late, and they were nice, and they waited for me to get there. They might’ve been there 5 to 10 minutes before I got there, which wasn’t too terrible. It was the second time that they came out since we were still having an ongoing problem there even after they originally did the cleaning through that pipe. The original guy came out along with them. They pulled out my washer and dryer, disconnected everything, and then plugged it all back up.

    When they were doing their next round of cleaning, they realized that one of the pipes was broken on the inside. So they replaced that and tested all the water to make sure I didn’t have anything else overflowing through my garage floor anymore. And they nailed it the second round. I couldn’t have asked for better service, and both of them were perfect. They cleaned up their messes. They didn’t leave anything for me to have to clean up, which was really, really nice. They answered all my questions and explained to me what they were doing while they were doing it so I had a full understanding, and I could explain it to my husband since he couldn’t be there that round. I loved it. I’m satisfied with AHS so far.

    My washing machine went crazy and was making a lot of noise. I submitted a claim with AHS and it took them three days to send someone out after I filed it. The tech came out, looked at the washing machine, and made a decision that it was beyond repair. A day and a half after that, they got back in touch with me and I was kinda surprised at how good the job they did was. Maybe they were gonna try to repair it, but they went beyond repair, so I got a new one and it didn't come out of my pocket. But I talked to the delivery man and I won't get it until tomorrow. Other than that, whenever I have claims, I'm much better calling and speaking with someone at AHS. I don't do the online stuff too well. And when I called them, I had a hard time understanding the first rep that I talked to but on all the other times, I had a great experience with their reps. I already talked to my brother about AHS and I had to give him the number to call.

    I usually do claims submission by internet and for the clogged sewage pipe that I had, Steven Mills Plumbing came out in about two days after. The contractor took care of the issue really quickly too. The pipe only took 10 minutes to get unclogged. Then when my toilet seal got busted because of the drain line backing up, he put in a new wax seal for me, which was very nice. He was very professional. Everything is working great now.

    My dryer stopped heating up and the experience with American Home Shield for the claim went good. It took a few times for the contractor to fix the dryer and that was the third time they have come out. It was kinda like a little fuse inside the dryer. The part was new but he was not sure why it kept going out, but he put another part in there and it fixed the problem. Since the repair, everything has been going great and the dryer has been working perfectly. The technician told me to let AHS know if I had any problems within 30 days but I haven't had any problems with the dryer. The contractor did a wonderful job. I love InterTech Maintenance and I like it when they come out and fix because they're always professional and nice. I request them to come out. AHS also fixed my icemaker and my washing machine and they are taking care of two of my family members already.

    I filed a claim to American Home Shield for the heater that would just go off and then, we'd have to turn the breaker off and then restart it. They sent out Comfort Air & Heating and they never did find the issue with it, but they did clean the sensors. So maybe that was it, because since they've serviced it, I haven't had any issues with the air conditioner nor the heater. Everything has been running fine. The tech was great. He was really helpful and he seemed very knowledgeable about what he was doing. I've had American Home Shield coverage for two years now and I would definitely recommend them.

    About a month ago, I was at my vacation home and noticed there was water in the basement. I contacted a local heating company because I know American Home Shield takes quite a few days to get there and I wanted to get it done right. The gentleman said that there is a lot of rust and it’s eating through my boiler. Eventually, all that water is gonna give way and my basement is gonna flood so I need a new boiler. I called AHS and they sent a contractor out. We waited for him to respond with his diagnosis. I had his cell phone number and contacted him personally. And day after day, he’d say, “I’m doing it right now.”

    Finally, I was fed up and called AHS. AHS called him and got the same runaround. It has been over a month and he still hasn’t gotten his full diagnosis in. I live in New England and it’s really cold here. Also, I only go up to my vacation home on the weekends and if the boiler goes, my basement could be flooded and I wouldn’t even know. However, the AHS reps were very helpful. Every day, when I called them, they called Easy A Appliance to get him to give his diagnosis. They're trying everything they can do, but the contractor isn’t doing his part.

    The same thing happened this summer and it took three months for the AC in my primary house to be fixed. The AC guy came and he was supposed to do his diagnosis. I waited over a month, but still no diagnosis. Finally, I called AHS and said that he was not gonna give a diagnosis and that they need to send somebody out. It was the dead of summer and I have not had an AC. It had been three months by the time I got my AC put in. It's a common occurrence that AHS doesn't have quality contractors to work with. Although I’ve had some very good ones, I’ve had some very bad ones too.

    We had our HVAC come out and AHS sent out Tin Man Heating. The tech looked at our problems, ordered the part that was needed and worked on our equipment. Everything went well. Another time, we had a plumbing claim and the tech they sent looked at the problems I called in. He started working and found that he had to go order some part because what he brought was only standard equipment. When had to work on one of the water heaters, the blow-off valve was of a different size so we had to order that as well. That tech took care of all the issues, was in and out in no time and did a good job. On top of that, he also fixed our toilet and it now flushes correctly. He was friendly and attempted to get things done in a timely manner.

    AHS couldn't find anybody who would fix my disposal. That time, I had a neighbor as a contractor who came over and fixed my issue for me. More recently, I submitted a claim online to AHS for an exhaust fan. AHS said that they would contact a contractor and Choice Electric Heating and Cooling came. Their tech has done three or four different jobs for me and I've been well pleased every time. I enjoy having him come out. He's very efficient and gets the job done.     We submitted a claim to AHS online for the repair of the ice maker in our refrigerator. It was easy to fill in the claim and they said that their contractor would call and set up the claim within the day. Express Appliance Services LLC came and provided very good service. They've been out several times to try and figure out what's going on with the ice maker and it's still not working. A couple of times, they replaced the ice maker itself, the temperature sensor and the water valve. Still, they're very courteous and professional. They've been very thorough and are doing their best to try and figure out what's going on.

    When I first bought my house back in 1995, the previous owner had American Home Shield. We got it then and found it to be quite helpful in replacing the appliances because the appliances were quite old. Being a new homeowner and not knowing very much, they stepped right in. Over the years, finances got bad so I had to drop them, but when things got good again, I said that I needed to go back with AHS. In previous times, whatever we needed to be done, they were very punctual in sending someone out to repair whatever was broken and they have not changed over the years.

    With our most recent claim, the contractor did an excellent job. He was punctual, very professional and timely. Several other people had come and tried to fix the problem, but they didn't fix it. Then he came here, assessed what was wrong and ordered the parts that he thought he needed. He did whatever needed to be done and we were very pleased.

    When I first started with American Home Shield, I was with them for about four years. I then had an issue with them and they wouldn't correct the issue so I left. I tried two or three other companies but they didn't measure up. They send a person out here to repair something and the person would just send them a notice saying that the unit was old and they refuse to repair it. So, I came back to American Home Shield about five months ago. Having a home warranty saves money. I've had a heating issue and American Home Shield's contractor was dispatched, and it was very efficient. They came, repaired the unit and they were gone within 30 minutes.

    My refrigerator wasn't working one time. The first guy sent by AHS from AA Dependable made some adjustments and had to order a part. However, he ordered the wrong part and the second guy who came had to go back and reorder it. Somebody came again to put that part on but then discovered that my refrigerator needed an ice maker. So, he ordered that and came back and put that part on as well. It took AA Dependable four times to fix my issue but they got it right.

    However, when AHS' contractors come out, a lot of times they have to order a part and they gotta come back. I don't understand why I have to wait two or three days before they come back. I already gotta wait 24 hours for the contractor to get in touch with me and come to my house. My situation is already bad when I call and worse by the time their contractor comes.

    Last year, I had a problem with my faucet so I called in for a plumber. There was water leaking under my sink the whole time and I had to put towels under it and switch those out every two or three hours and put more towels. This was going during the whole 24 hours after I called. The plumber comes and tells me that he would need to get a part and left. It was a day or two before Thursday which was Thanksgiving and he didn't come back 'til the following Monday. By then, the bottom of my sink was call cracked up from the water constantly being on it. All he had to do was change the faucet and it only took 20 minutes to do that. It ruined my thanksgiving and I couldn't cook my turkey ‘cause I couldn’t use my sink. It was just awful.

    I had a fridge that wasn’t working and I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for that as well as for my trash compactor in the sink. I called them both in at the same time and the claim was dealt with as one but they ended being two different workmen that I needed. The workers who came were very professional and did what they were supposed to do. I have both things working well right now. The experience went okay except for the timing when things happened. I waited all day and took time off work but nobody came. Then, about five minutes to 5:00, the contractor called to say that it would have to be rescheduled, after I’ve already wasted my day. It didn’t happen in the right time frame but it was solved eventually and I got the service I anticipated.

    I have been with AHS years ago, and then I stopped. I didn't use them for three or four years, and so I got rid of them. As our house is getting a little older now, I thought it might be a good idea to get back because they always did a great job for us. When we had a heating problem, American Home Shield sent someone out there. He didn't, however, know what was going on. He said it was fixed and it didn't last an hour. It went back to doing what it was doing.

    Then they sent another fellow, from Cutting Edge Total Comfort, out a couple of days later. We called him directly, and he came out and took care of the business. He took a part with him, rebuilt it and then brought it back a couple of days later. So, within a week, he had us up and running. Everything went well, and I was impress with them. But I still have a problem -- my heating doesn't seem to be blowing hot air. It's warm air, but not hot air like it was. Nevertheless, the contractor was professional and efficient, and they seemed to know what they were doing.

    The contractors that American Home Shield have sent us seemed to have been pretty darn good. Right now, our refrigerator is being worked on through them. And we were without a refrigerator. Instead of just going ahead and getting another one, they're ordering the part. AHS is more into ordering and replacing parts than they are in just going ahead and getting something and replacing the whole unit. We were a little disappointed that something that is 20 years old got repaired instead of replaced. That was on the dishwasher. So far, two of the people they sent out had said, “Well, the whole unit needs to be replaced.” And when they turned in their trouble ticket, AHS had them order a part. But we’ve had a pretty good experience with AHS. They're sending somebody that knows what they're doing.

    My first claim experience with AHS for my heater was horrible. The first company they sent, Three Brothers AC and Heating, was full of crap. They checked my heating out and the tech said he didn't know what was going on. He said he couldn't do anything and that it wasn't an electrical problem but a problem with my furnace. Three Brothers left and said they weren't coming back. The last company that AHS sent was great. They were able to diagnose and fix my issue. The tech said that all Three Brothers had to do was try and that they didn't want to put in their effort. The last company went above and beyond trying to make sure we had some heat. They had a piece ordered and came back out to install it all in a great timeframe. It was a good experience and now, there are no more cold nights for us.

    For my last claim with AHS involving my garbage disposal, the tech was at my place for five minutes, stuck his hand down the disposal, ran some water, said it was fine and was gone. The garbage disposal starts up okay but then sometimes, it acts up. It rattles some as well as growl and has a high pitched sound. I don't think it's totally fixed.

    I have other claims with AHS for a washing machine and a dryer. For the dryer, the tech who was sent cleaned the vent and checked it. For the washer, I got a different company. When the tech turned it on, he found that the transmission was going out. He brought a new one but then in the meantime, the agitator broke. He brought me a new agitator as well and now the washer works just fine. It was a long and drawn-out process and it was days between ordering parts. Still, the company that was sent by AHS was very good.

    I was having some issues with my furnace upstairs and it was the kinda problem that you think is something but it’s something else because it all ties in together.     A-American Plumbing came out for the toilet, which was running all the time and didn’t flush properly. I called American Home Shield and my interaction with the representative was very good. It was very easy and helpful. They said I would be contacted within 24 to 48 business hours and I was contacted within 24. Then the issue was fixed later that day. It was quicker than I thought it would be. The problem was that we couldn’t turn the water to the toilet all the way off. So the contractor took that valve apart, put in new washers then put a new tank valve in. He also put in a new lever and now the toilet works perfectly and very quickly. He was in and out of here in 45 minutes, maybe less.

    Our door was sticking. When it would go down, it would be really heavy. It would clunk. And so, we wanted to make sure that the rails hadn’t moved.     Somebody from ADA Repair came out and said the old washer was no good, so American Home Shield got me another one. They delivered the brand new on Monday but the washer is not working right. The spin cycle shakes all over the place. So, I called Home Shield and they will be sending somebody out again next Monday. It’s just getting frustrating that the new one doesn’t work. Other than that, all the people who came out were all very nice, including the ones who installed and the one who was here checking.

    When I heard some water coming down underneath the house, I went to my crawlspace door and found out there was a broken pipe. I got American Home Shield's customer service number and called them up. They told me that they were calling the contractors and that the contractors would call me sometime that day or early the next day. The contractor called me the same day and came the next day. The pipe had worked itself to loose from the fitting. They screwed the pipe back up and put another belt out where the belt that was holding the pipe up had broken. I'm happy they resolved the issue. I was over elated.

    My AC unit was making some noise, and I wasn't sure if I should be using it with the noise it was making. I went online and submitted a claim to AHS. It was pretty easy to use their website. The contractor was good. He contacted me immediately and showed up on time. He checked everything and then he said it was not the unit itself, it was just the ductwork that was making something else and started to make noise. I've been with AHS for at least three years, and I don't like the price increase in my monthly payments.

    I've had a policy with American Home Shield for years and I don't find them to be very responsive. They should make it easier to get in touch with somebody. They do a great job online, but if you need to make a phone call, it's really frustrating and difficult. If you have a problem with the contractor, that's frustrating too. With certain claims I've had over the years, I feel like the people they've sent out are marginal at best, and they've replaced several things in my home with substandard equipment compared to what I had that broke. That is not satisfactory, like when I have a well-built water heater and they replace it with a piece of garbage water heater.

    One of the reasons I have kept the policy is because I had older air conditioning units, and when one of them did have a problem, they offered me $500 for a $10,000 replacement. They have all these ways of getting out of paying for everything. I also had a garage door opener replaced from them that worked for a very short time. It's a garage door I don't open very often 'cause it's a third car garage door that we rarely use. I had another private contractor come out to look at it 'cause my door was stuck open and that left my house insecure. He showed me exactly that it was horrible quality. The initial contractor replaced it with something really cheap and crappy, and it's already broken again. AHS should tell you they're not gonna replace with equal quality materials.

    On the other hand, everything was fine with the claim we had for a spa issue. Pure Pool Service did a great job and I was very pleased with their service. They got back to me and they had to order additional parts, and they made sure to follow up with me and let me know what the timing was. And they spoke English, which was helpful.

    The refrigerator was under warranty and it took LG two and a half weeks to get us the part even though Gloria at Air Cool was calling every day. LG gave her three different claim numbers because she kept calling back, and they kept saying 48 hours. She called back in 48 hours and they didn’t have the part. They finally got it at 5 o’clock Monday and installed it at 9 o’clock the next morning. It was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Gloria was great and it was a good experience. Air Cool was fabulous and a great resource for American Home Shield.

    I had a couple of plumbing issues and the plumber that AHS sent out took four days. They said it was within their contract. They have 72 hours to get out, plus the 24 hours from the call time. If you have a plumbing issue like a clogged kitchen sink, you can’t go four days with that. I had Lee, a sales rep for this area, call AHS and they sent out another plumber that same day who fixed my clogged sink. They sent out that plumber that takes four days another time, and they did the same thing. That time, I paid for it myself to get it done. Other than that, the calls I made with American Home Shield have been fabulous. Sometimes, the vendors aren’t responsive but AHS has been great.

    I wanted to be prepared if something happens to go wrong and American Home Shield was referred by a friend. When I submitted a claim, everybody was very courteous and everything ended up being taken care of. I was given all the options that I had once they came to check and see what was wrong. I couldn't have asked for a better service. The oven in my stove went out and it happened to be the control board. There was no replacement for it so they had to try to get it replaced. After the technician installed it, it still did not work but a couple days later, it started working. When I called American Home Shield to let them know that it was working, they said since the technician said it wasn’t working, they had to go ahead and replace it. It was done immediately so that was great. I was very pleased with the prompt service that was given to me and how informative and polite everybody was.

    American Plumbing Service took care of the plumbing issue. It was fabulous. They came in and I told them what happened and what was going on, and they looked at it and the technician said it was plugged in, but there was no power to it. He could tell that it was bad. He called the office and he said since there was a rate on cover on there, it would be an extra $150 that I had to pay out of pocket for them, which I did. They went ahead and replaced it, had everything back down. They were quick and efficient. They brought down a bag and put the old sump pump on it, wrapped it up so it wouldn't get all over my floors. They did a very good job. They were very professional. I also asked them if they didn't mind looking at my other issue and the technician said sure but that I still gonna have to file a separate claim if it was bad with my homeowners.

    He looked at it and he said they were gonna need this and this and that it would gonna cost more than what it would to replace it. He said he would call AHS and tell them that I needed another service call on it. He actually looked at it while he was here, so I greatly appreciate that. I also believe that they're gonna come out and replace it for me.

    I also have a pending claim with American Home Shield regarding my dishwasher. When the home inspector turned it on, he said it worked but the first time I used it, it covered my dishes in this white, hard stuff. I had to soak everything in vinegar to get it clean, and wash my hand. It was the same thing with the washer. The inspector turned it on and it worked. But if you turn it on to a medium or high, the thing starts rocking. I'm 260 pounds. I'm sitting on that thing but it was banging and rocking and going right out the front door. The contractor came out for the dishwasher and the washer and he showed me the light in the dishwasher, and I looked at it and everything was full of salt. The two gentleman who came out were very nice and they explained everything to me.

    They were quick too. It only took them maybe 45 minutes or so, and they did it all. He showed me where the sump pump. I said thought I had a problem with the sprinklers leaking. He showed where the sump pump comes out to discharge in my neighbor's and that's why it's always wet. I was given a cash out for one of the two, the dishwasher or the washer. I faxed over the receipt that I paid, showing that I paid for it. They were supposed to issue me a Home Depot card for one of them within 48 hours but I haven't seen it yet.

    Some of the reps at American Home Shield sound very knowledgeable. But some of them don’t. The first time that I have other issues, the rep told me, “Let me see.” And the way that he said it, it really should be done. The company came three times to my house but they did not fix the issue until the third time and that really got me upset. The second time that I called American Home Shield, the rep said that they would check if they covered that part. I told the rep that according to the contract, it should be covered. The rep then replied that they didn’t know if it was going to be covered, so it needed to be approved. I didn't like that part.

    I had three issues. My doorbell light has been off for months, the ballast in my closet light got sparks, and then the outlet outside the house shuts down the entire unit of the light. The young man from AimHigh Electric did very good. He was amazing. I was very pleased with them. But the reps at American Home Shield should know their information they are sharing because I am paying.

    I got a call and they told me that I owe something to American Home Shield. But I pay once a year and I pay ahead. But they gave me a bad credit because they had the mistake of not looking at my account that I pay the total amount of the balance once a year. And then they were calling me back, apologizing, and they were pampering me and they said they would offer you a better deal. But the mistake was done towards my name and that was really something that made me upset. But because I live by myself, I need someone to help me with my things. I told them that I need the good quality of people that they’re sending because they were sending people that are not acceptable. I feel very insecure with the type of representative I allowed in my house. So they gave me such a good deal that made me try with them once more and see how it works. But the copay went higher.

    I have been trying to resolve an issue with my basement drain for over a month now. The first plumber came and reviewed the work and was approved but they could not handle the problem. The second plumber came, reviewed the work and was approved but they went MIA, just stopped answering calls from either us or AHS. The third plumber they sent was ready to solve the issue and AHS denied them. They input a completely different issue into the system. They did not input the information the plumber gave them. To cover their mistake, they even tried to argue the very definition of the task which was incorrect. My issue has yet to be resolved. This could have been easy had the representative just listened to the plumber and maybe read the diagnosis back to him to clarify as this has already been diagnosed twice.

    We have been loyal American Home Shield customers for years. However, last Wednesday, our side by side fridge stopped working and we called for help. With Thanksgiving, we didn't get a service call set up until Friday and when the tech arrived @ 400 pm, he told us he was not authorized to work on our brand of fridge (which we had told American Shield). When we called back to American Home Shield, we were initially told no one would could call us to set up an appointment until Monday and then finally they agreed to contact an authorized company to come to our home on Saturday. The tech finally arrived @ 7:00 pm Friday night and promised to send his report in by Monday end of business. It is now Wednesday and there is no report and American Home Shield refuses to do anything. So, we are now looking at probably two weeks without a working refrigerator. This is not why we have a home warranty to help us with repairs.

    Our contract was due to expire August 27, 2019. Back on July 19, 2019 I contacted AHS and informed them that we were going to sell the house so I didn’t want to renew for an entire year. The representative stated that I could go on monthly payments so I did. I called today to cancel because we sold the house. The real estate department representative informed me that our contract renewed yearly back in August but we were put on monthly payments instead of yearly. They charged me an early termination fee which was equal to one month payment! Had I been informed of this by the representative back in July, I would have not renewed. Poor communication! I will never use this company again!

    We paid them monthly for years. We had a leak in the waterline of our refrigerator. The water leak damaged the wood floor behind the refrigerator. They came out. We paid the 75.00 co-pay. We were told the issue was fixed. We had the floor repaired. The refrigerator continued to have the same issue. Unfortunately because water was pooling under and behind it we didn't realize there was still an issue until we moved the refrigerator. Long story short. 4 service calls, four people telling us that this time it was fixed. Refrigerator wasn't fixed. The wood we replaced is again destroyed. We just bought a new refrigerator. Not only did they not fix what they were paid to fix, their negligence caused a bigger repair.

    Garage door opener stopped working after 18 years. First they told us the garage door was too heavy for the opener. This was the same opener that had been opening our garage door flawlessly since 2002. Service person told us that unless we had our "maintenance records" they wouldn't be able to replace/repair it. Not believing that could possibly be accurate my husband called the office and they confirmed that was the case. We paid in good faith believing what they advertised was true. They did not come through for us. The garage door opener was a small issue and they wouldn't stand behind that. I'm confident they wouldn't be there for the bigger items.

    American Home Shield is a money trap. I called in for service for a leaking water heater and they sent out a repairman the next day. The water heater needed to be replaced and AHS would pay for it. So far, so good right? BUT the repairman said installing a new hot water heater required “modifications” like hooking back up the water lines, temperature pressure lines, turning gas back on and putting in a vent. These modifications came to $850. American Home Shield won’t pay for modifications— which is exactly why the plumber called them such, obviously. AHS won’t let you shop around either, so you MUST pay whatever the contractor wants no matter how ridiculous! So when I called to cancel my warranty, I was told I would owe AHS money! AHS is a fraud and deserve to be put out of business. DON’T make my mistake. RUN!

    Our water heater went out so I contacted American Home Shield the same day and put in a request for service. I was contacted the same day by the service provider Tao Home Construction and we were able to get someone out that evening within 15 to 20 minutes. He told me his name was Max and he did a wonderful job. He had the problem diagnosed, repaired, and was on his way. He was really a nice guy. So, everything got fixed, they did not have to replace the water heater at this time, and it was a really good experience.

    When submitting a claim, either by calling in and speaking with someone or by just utilizing the app, I haven't had any issues or problems. I used the app the last time and I didn't even speak with anyone at AHS, and it went off without a hitch. But one thing, they changed some things as far as how we pay for the service 'cause it is a $75 fee every time there's a provider when we request services. When we first started, I had to pay the provider when they came out or AHS pays them once the person has shown up, but they now bill us almost immediately when we place the service. So, the billing already gets going. Still, we've had great success and have had good experiences thus far with American Home Shield.

    I was with American Home Shield for 20 years at one time. And then I tried a new warranty company. I was using Sears because I had them come out to work on a refrigerator. If I joined their home warranty, their service call was free. So I did that, but their warranty’s terrible. I canceled it, and started back with AHS in November. York Mechanical came out to replace a sewer pump, and everything was outstanding. The contractors always call me before they get here. And with AHS if they can’t fix something, they replace it.

    The heater is not blowing hot air now. The guy who came out was really good and he got it blowing warm air before. But the next day, it was blowing cold air again. He came back and was really nice. He showed me what he did. He said that there were little cracks on this little circuit board and that he put fodder on top of it to fill in the cracks. It worked for two days but then this morning, I woke up and it was all cold again. So I called them this morning and they said they'll be out Friday.

    On the other hand, my friend has Home Shield too and when his pool motor broke, they wanted him to pay over $500 and he refuses to do that. So he's not using his pool. It's like Home Shield doesn't wanna cover any large expense but they'll do the small routine maintenance type things. Also, it almost seems to me like they do the bare minimum to get things going. In the beginning, my air conditioner went out and they said that I needed a compressor which they cover. But then they billed me for $350 and they said that was for the Freon. I don't know though. It seemed to me they were charging me for the compressor that they were supposed to cover.

    One of the burners on our stove wasn’t working. I filed a claim on the phone and it went fine. The stove was so old that RC Appliance can’t refurbish it. So, nothing was done. If we bought a new stove, Home Shield would pay a maximum of 3,000. It’s a big, professional stove, and a new stove is about $13,000. So, we may just live with what we got and that one burner. You can get it to work if you manually light it. We got up to a year to decide what to do. The tech came back out and reinstalled the equipment that he took off the stove and it is working. So, we are using it in that condition. That one burner, just where the fact that it doesn't light by itself. We just didn't wanna spend an additional $10,000 for a stove.

    My stove caught on fire into the electrical. I’ve been having so many problem with that stove. The electrical people AHS sent were there less than a hour to assess the problem, and then the appliance man came and he spent less than a hour and found out that it wasn’t repairable. So AHS replaced it. They didn’t take long. It was approximately about two weeks before everything was finalized. The installation team called me around 9:00, and they had it in before 12:00 o’clock that day. When I got home at lunchtime they had already finished putting the stove in. Everything was cleaned up, and they left the instruction for my appliance. Everything went very well. I have AHS for 14 years now, and everything that have happened with me they have repaired and replaced. I’m completely satisfied with them.

    I submitted my claim for my HTG to AHS on a Thursday morning. But then their contractor, All Week Heating and Cooling wasn't able to come out until Tuesday. Also, when they came out that Tuesday, that was the first contact they had with me. They didn't even call to schedule the visit. They just sent me a text saying that was the day they were coming. When the techs arrived, they discovered that the blower motor was bad which was what I suspected in the first place. They told me they were gonna have to order it.

    Because it was a holiday week, they probably wouldn’t make it back out until the following week on Monday. I told them that wasn't gonna be acceptable and that I needed things fixed before the holiday. They worked diligently, called me back that afternoon and set up an appointment for the following day to come out and replace it. I felt that All Week Heating handled that situation really well and I was happy with the outcome. Everything has been good so far. I'm very happy to have my AHS coverage. I will definitely be continuing with it.

    We had a leak in one of the hot water heaters that is in the attic. It leaked through the attic onto the second floor down to the master closet. I'm at home all the time, so I'm in and out of that room all the time, and we didn’t notice it. Then I went in there in the evening and there was a water spot on the floor, and then my laundry basket that was empty of clothes had two inches of water in it. So, we immediately called and they were able to schedule us as an emergency situation for the following morning, which was very nice.

    The gentleman from DNB Plumbing Home Services came out, assessed the situation, and pretty much went above and beyond as far as his explanations and what the follow up would be. Then he wasn’t able to turn the water heater on because, apparently, the pipe that emits the carbon monoxide was not hooked up to the flute going out of the attic. It had been circulating within our attic for quite some time. So, we are lucky to be alive.

    He said, “I can call these people to come in and assess the water damage and dry your house out.” He set all that up, and then that person was here for four days. So, it was a like a chain reaction. It started with the DNB, and not only did they do what they could do, they got us the person that could do the drying, and then that followed into the person who would assess the water damage. So, now, we’re just waiting for my homeowners insurance to let me know what is going on and to find out when we could start the work.

    Every other work that has been done, the payment went to the insurance company. Then, after all those things were put together, then DNB came back, went ahead and recommended a roof guy to come. They had to coordinate that so that they could both be here at the same time, which is something I said I cannot do. I don’t know any of these people. So, from DNB on down, they coordinated all of the aspects of the repair, and then they came in and they put everything up to code and replaced the water heater.

    We had two water heaters and they replaced one of them -- we didn’t have hot water for seven days, but we managed to survive. I told the tech from DNB that I was very grateful to him, that he did a great job, and that I wanted it passed down to his supervisors because it is important to let people know when they’re doing a good job as well. I had another company for years, and after they left my 90-year-old mother without air conditioning in the middle of summer for over a month, I switched over. They were awful. This is my first year of having American Home Shield and they have been awesome. To date, I’m extremely pleased with them.

    When we had a pretty bad water leak from our hot water tank out in the garage, AHS sent out Plumb Genius. They did everything. We’re gonna have to make a few minor alterations or modifications. I'm out over $800 for that. I have no idea what American Shield is paying for besides the tank and its installation. I’m looking at the regular 40-gallon tanks and they run maybe 400. I’m paying double what American Shield is paying, plus the $600 so far this year. I'm beginning to question why I even have the warranty? I can put $50 a month back in a savings account just for home expenses and save it for when I need repair because so far, I’m not seeing a whole lot for what I’m paying.

    I haven't had any difficulty with submitting claims to American Home Shield. The only problem I’ve had with the warranty is that they cover very little. I’m paying a certain amount of money every month. On top of that, this is the second time since we’ve been here and it’s been about a year and a half. Every time somebody comes out, it’s $100 on top of the $42 that I pay every month. If I look at what I pay a month for the year, it’s close to $500. This year, I’ve called AHS out once and it’s gonna cost us $600. I renewed with American Shield back earlier this year. For next year when the renewal comes up, I’m gonna look at it really closely. It’s costing them a third of what the total is and I’m stuck with two-thirds of the bill. Other than that Plumb Genius has been good. This coming Saturday, they’ll be out to do the replacement.

    Customer service at AHS is not that great. They do not handle their contractors very well. I had a service request for my heating unit inspection and a guy from Fick's Mechanical came. I specifically told the contracting company that I was on my way and asked them to ask the contractor to wait for me. I told them repetitively to inform me at least an hour before the tech arrives so I could stop my job and reach home on time. Their guy waited only for 5 or 10 minutes and he left my premises.

    That contractor charged me $89 for the next visit in order for him to come back. I contacted AHS a hundred times to give me my $89 back because that was not my mistake. The contractor did not text me that he was on the way. He only texted me 20 minutes back. I told AHS to talk to the contractor and ask him to reschedule the service but AHS could not help me with that. They could not convince the contractor. I was at my home in half an hour but the tech from Fick's had just left.

    More recently, I was not able to get water from my tap properly. It was completely loose. I filed another claim and AHS sent United Air Temp. Their tech came and fixed things perfectly fine. He was good. But then, there was a part that was broken in my unit and the tech said that had to be ordered. There was a delay in ordering the part and I had to wait for three weeks for the mail. Still, he came back and everything is functioning well since the repair. The only problem was that he came late.

    My first experience submitting a claim to American Home Shield was difficult because English was a second language for the people I talked to. I had a hard time understanding them. With my recent claim for a water heater that burst, I had a Native American speaker. I submitted a plumbing claim on a Friday and AHS' contractor, Accurate Plumbing Solutions, was at my place by Monday. I was happy with their service. The guy who came out had a lot of experience and he knew what he was doing. He even showed me how to fix my sink while he was there. Things have been fine since the repair.     Submitting claims to American Home Shield has been easy. Although I usually call, I did my freezer claim online. Someone then called to set up an appointment and the guy came out a day later. He figured out what the problem was. Some kind of board had to be replaced. He told us to unplug the freezer for two days so that the excess would defrost and that by the time he put the new card in, it would all be done. He came back a couple of days later after the part was ordered and put it in. Everything seems to be working fine now. We also had a plumbing issue last year and AHS worked with us on it. We've had good luck with what they have been doing.

    Home Shield needs to stop using companies that their repair people are also salesmen who get commission on sales. I always do preventive maintenance for the summer, like how they check the coolant. Immediately, that guy, 15 seconds he was there, went around by the house and said "Oh you need a new unit and this one we can save you one for..." I told him to get the hell off my property. I noticed my neighbor was having his unit serviced. I walked over there and asked the guy could he service mine, and he came over and did it. And with the guy that they sent out here, he said it was too low and it's against the law to put anything else in it. He also said, "I've never heard of that before. He's just lying to you. He just wants to sell you something." And that guy was so ridiculous, after that, he called the next couple of days before I told him, "Do not call my house again."

    So Home Shield should never get those people that get a commission when they come out here on sale. All they do is try to sell you something, not help you. I wouldn't recommend that contractor to anybody. I was disappointed. That was poor for what they were trying to do. Other than that, I submitted a claim for the garbage disposal over the phone and the rep was good. When I would reset the thing out, it was wet. The tech said, "That's a good thing you didn't." So, they were very helpful and very professional. So far, so good.

    When my new propane company came to fill the tank, I had a gas leak. So they said that they felt like it was probably under the house. I called and they sent out a plumber then who refused to go under the house. He said it was in my stove. So I called American Home Shield back, and they sent out Appliance Network. They said, "Yes, in fact, there was a problem with the stove." So then, they ordered the parts, came back and fixed it, and that was wonderful. That part is all taken care of, but I still had a leak though. And so then, they had to send another plumber who tracked it down. I had two leaks with my dryer and there was another leak that is my gas fireplace. But Appliance Network did a wonderful job. The tech was on time and courteous. I would hire them again. When I submitted the claim over the phone, customer service had also been fantastic.

    The knob on my kitchen faucet, to spray the water with, was loose and caused a leak in my faucet. The water was draining in some of my cabinets and messed up my thing. And the faucet in my bathroom upstairs was clogging up. The plumber from Drain Go came and did something that unclogged it. One time, the lever in the shower which I turn for the water to go hot/cold was not working. The water wouldn't turn off all the way. I submitted a claim and City Plumbing came out.     The temperature of our refrigerator was going very high. Sometimes, up to 70 degrees, which spoiled some of our food. But I know that the food was covered by AHS. They sent two group of technicians here. The first one did not show up on the appointment. I complained. He called the American Home Shield that I cancelled the appointment, which was not true. And then, another company came here and they showed up to my house two times. They said that AHS doesn’t pay for the clean up and that I have to pay it. I said, “Okay. Do it.” Because I didn’t want the refrigerator to stay the same. With that, he charged me $90 and my refrigerator was not fixed.

    After two days, I called them, they said, “We told American Home Shield.” And in a couple of days that I followed up, American Home Shield told me, "I’m sorry. This is not repairable. They got back and said this is not repairable, and we'll reimburse you for it.” That came as a surprise for me. This is a Sub-Zero, probably a $15,000 refrigerator and they'd only pay me $2,700 for it. They told me that it’s on my contract. As I was working on this and talking to some people, I said, “They usually make mistakes. These technicians do not understand. They are not actually qualified but they get a contract with AHS. They come and they do not fear responsibility because they get their money from AHS anyway or from any insurance company when they come.”

    I thought that the best way before I accept that reimbursement is to try one more time because it’s a $15,000 refrigerator. I called AHS and told them to send me another person as a second opinion. And I’m glad that I did and that was the good part of it. They sent another company, which I actually keep them on file. It’s called Emergency Appliance Repair. It was very obvious, by the way that the tech was talking, that he understood the issue. He just looked at it and asked me, “If there’s anything that you have on both freezer and refrigerator, turn everything off, unplug for 48 hours.” And he showed me some specific places of the freezer. He said, “As soon as you saw this icy stuff is gone, try again.”

    I did it and he was following with me, and he asked me take a picture when it’s clean. I took a picture when everything was melted, sent it to him, and he said, “Okay. Let me save me a trip. Now, put it back again.” I plugged it and it was working very fine, and we are 100% happy with it. Unfortunately, when we call to repair, AHS don’t give us to somebody with responsible management. They send us out to Philippines or India for the appointments, and those people are very good, they try to help, but just the appointment. When I ask for a supervisor, they give me one of their own supervisor on those outsourced countries.

    And when their contractors come, they do not understand. They said, “This is not our job. We don’t understand it.” And then, American Home Shield would say, “Okay. We give you that much money.” At least, I appreciate people like this Emergency Appliance, who comes, who cares, who stayed with it and checked with me. He gave me his card and said, “Check with me if you have any time. Any problem after that situation, call me.” I’ve called him and I appreciated it. When I told American Home Shield that I wanted a second opinion, I’m glad that they they did not resist and connected us to Emergency Appliance Repair. They did a good job. I wish AHS would get qualified contractors, not just whoever that has a license.

    There were some buckling tiles in our shower and a gentleman from Advanced came out. He was professional, all the way, and he seemed to know what he was doing and what he was talking about. The issue was that the valve where you turn the water on and off was leaking on the inside. He replaced that and he had to replace the handle because there had been so much moisture in there, it just corroded and melted to the actual valve itself.

    Also, he called out the excavation company to look at it and they said that we got a major problem. The back of our shower goes to the wall to our master closet and not only was there moisture behind the tiles, but it had gone to the bottom of the wall in our master closet. There are water marks on the wall, in the carpeting, and in the padding. And at that time, we called our homeowner's warranty people. Everything went perfect with this claim and I’m satisfied with Home Shield. The last time we had a claim was a water heater some months ago. That one didn’t go quite as smooth as other claims had gone. I had a little bit of trouble with that particular contractor. But for the most part, Home Shield is always right there on it.

    AHS' contractor, United Air Temp, was late. They took their time when they could have been at my place sooner. Plus, the work is still not done and they're waiting on some part. With AHS, customer service has been okay but they've been nothing special. For this claim, I ended up paying $1,200 out of my pocket while I had insurance. I had to pay $100 for their contractor to come in as well. AHS has a fine line in their contract making me responsible for buying the gas of my compressor. They know the gas costs $150 a pound and they put that they would cover only $10 per pound in the contract. They need to inform the customers of that. I would not recommend them to a friend.

    I bought my first house in 1990 and I had that house for 14 years, then I moved into my current home in 2004. Initially, I had the American Home Shield attached to my mortgage but somehow, it got dis-attached and I had to restart it again. Still, I've had American Home Shield for almost 30 years now and I continue to renew. Primarily, when something breaks, I call them up and they find the person that needs to come out and fix whatever is the problem. If I had to do it myself, then I would have to search to find someone to actually do the work. Also, another reason would be the coverage. Recently, I had an issue with the garage door. The door itself was not covered, so I had to pay for the repair associated with the door and then the stuff about the opener. The base problem was the spring right above the door which is the mechanism that opens it. The tech from Holiday Home repair repaired and fixed everything that needs to be fixed.

    My dishwasher was not working properly and was not draining. The guy told me to email it and do a claim. Sears, the contractor, was terrible. They came out, looked at my dishwasher, and told me that I needed a new one. My dishwasher is only two years old and it is not cheap, and he told me that he thought the motor was burned up, and so he made a request. Then, I called AHS and I did not realize that I had to wait 90 days. So, they told me they would reimburse me $150. Then when I sent the claim in to them, the gentleman yesterday told me I am only reimbursing me $120. I said, "That's not what they said." They said it was because of labor, but I said my total cost was over $200, $120 for the labor and I have $72 for parts. And it was not the drain line, it was the drain pump. The guy put a new drain pump on it, and it has worked fine.

    He also said it would be 45 days before I can get a refund. Then, I sent the thing in, but I never heard anything back. And it has been two weeks. So, then I called him, and he said, "Oh, something happened. They never even put it in that they've received it. And I will rush this right now." I asked when I can expect my check and he said in 45 days. That was very poor service. I would have thought that Sears knew what they were doing, but I was in disbelief that I needed a new dishwasher. The gentleman was nice, but there was a lot of difference between a motor and a pump. He was just analyzing and he was going to send somebody else out. But I was not sure he knew what he was looking for or at.

    The rear right burner was only firing but not getting gas. I called in a claim -- as usual, it was a follow-up call. I called American Home Shield's number and got through the initial screening. They came in, they put that part in, and then shortly after, the back burner wasn't working. The gentleman came out, took some things apart, and put them back together. Then, it has been working fine. The contractors' service was excellent. Prior to the repair, it was part of the stove we couldn't use, but since the repair, it's been totally remedied. Everyone I've had to speak to at American Home Shield has been very congenial, pleasant, and wanting to help. So, that was excellent. It's an amazing service, and it gives you the confidence that you can get unforeseen problems resolved quickly. The Lane Appliance company was very efficient, too. Everything went as you would hope.

    My dad's had American Home Shield for about eight years, and he recommended them to me and I'm glad that I went with them. They sent good people who did everything they said they were gonna do. And most of the time it was always on a very timely manner. Sometimes I may have to wait a week, and when an appliance is not working, a week may not be what you wanna hear, but most of the time it was very good service. Recently they sent a technician from Family AC Service Solutions and he was very helpful. He made recommendations and got everything going.
